"Wonderful place, very clean, friendly staff, great for having a dog companion"
JWRM, 11 Avril 2024

We had a wonderful welcome at the Colonel Butler Inn. We came for the eclipse, which was a bit of a bust because of cloud cover, but the stay at the Inn was really special. We brought our dog and their "dog-friendly" room was set up with a special carpeted platform and dog dishes, as well as a welcoming treat (call ahead to arrange this special service). The staff were all very friendly and thoughtful. We humans got special eclipse-cookies and other considerations while we were there. The room was clean and, miracle of miracles, had no odors (either underlying mildew or perfumy cleaners). This is a big plus for us, because one of my daughters and I are both sensitive to smells. Additionally, the free breakfast is fresh and varied with many delicious and healthy options. If we ever go back to Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is a lovely community, we would plan to stay here. Also, the area around the Inn is a quiet neighborhood which was great to walk through, with and without the dog.

"Best Bang for your Buck Hotel inside Old Town Niagara On the Lake"
robby506, 23 Mars 2024

The Hotel was simple. However the room was clean and well provisioned. Bed was Good for me. Bathroom was clean all equipment worked. Parking was no issue. Workout Room was small but had everything needed for a good workout. Breakfast room was clean Breakfast was standard for a Hotel but Plentiful and the staff were Hard Working and Friendly. I cannot recommend the place enough.

"Super!"
lemieuxsudbury, 26 Février 2024

I was in town for a conference and my mom tagged along. This hotel is walking distance to historic Niagara, only took my mom 15 minutes to walk at 76 years of age. It is super clean and staff, especially Penny is amazing!

"Convenient location, clean and pleasant"
Chrisju2013, 26 Février 2024

Enjoyed our visit to Niagara on the Lake. Clean and quick access to the town, in walking distance. Only issue was the poor internet service. Patchy and unreliable. Breakfast was average. Parking very close.

"Nice quiet hotel stay"
wongankat, 08 Février 2024

Nice small, personal hotel. Room s and building tidy and clean. Staff very pleasant and accommodatung. Rooms and bed very comfortable, Excellent breakfast offerings Enjoyed my visit and would recommend!

"Perfect little spot"
smartiwithanrv, 08 Janvier 2024

When searching for a place to stay in Niagara on the Lake, most of the accommodations advertise to couples. I was going with my friend and we needed 2 beds with a bit of room and didn't want to pay for a full house like on Air B&B. This was the perfect size, as well as close location to the down town shopping. We found 2 places to eat that we were able to walk to and the suggestions from the staff were very helpful during our stay

"Stay in December 2023"
bry0104, 08 Janvier 2024

Great hotel - close to the downtown, clean, with a very friendly and accommodating staff. This was the second time we stayed at this hotel and will definitely stay again when we go back this summer (2024).

"Affordable NOTL hotel"
amywhalen78, 06 Janvier 2024

Hotel is small and cozy - rooms are clean and bright. Breakfast is lacking but that's the usual in my experience. Great value for the money. We have been to this hotel twice now as it's a more affordable option than the vintage hotels in town. We love visiting NOTL and this hotel makes it affordable to do so.

"Great location"
oliverfurtado, 04 Janvier 2024

What a great Hotel excellent location with restaurants just feet away and about 15 minutes walk to main part of Niagara on the lake this hotel is very clean and friendly staff was excellent also having free breakfast was nice way to start your day I'll be back for sure

"Always a pleasure"
Christina G, 17 Septembre 2023

This is our go to place when we visit Niagara on the lake. Intimate establishment, always clean, quiet. Great location to main area of town. Breakfast included, always a hot breakfast item. Lovely grounds and veranda

"A great place to stay"
Paul181747, 08 Septembre 2023

This hotel is a great place to stay. Eight of us booked four rooms and we were all very pleased with the cleanliness, the breakfasts, the staff and the location. Very well done to the manager and all the staff.

"Nice hotel close to everything"
Vacationer635979, 16 Août 2023

Beautiful hotel with new renovated rooms, clean and comfortable. Recommend unless you have a problem with stairs as no elevators. Also they don't give bottled water but provide a pitcher to get ice and water from a Culligan machine which is hard to find in the basement should have it in an easier to find location. Overall we would recommend it.

"Best Western Colonel Butler"
Daydream569767, 08 Août 2023

Terrible. We booked rooms a few days later then the cut off date to stay for a wedding. they would not even consider giving us a discount of any kind. We paid $369 per night for a simple double room. And to top it off the breakfast was terrible. Premade egg patties of some kind that i wouldn't even feed my dog.

"A return to a favourite hotel did not disappoint."
DavidJeanes, 29 Juillet 2023

The Colonel Butler Inn is our favourite place to stay after many family and Shaw Festival visits to niagara on the Lake. Comfortable clean rooms, quiet, a great breakfast, and a friendly restaurant, Butler's Grill, at the back of the hotel. Convenient location with a car at the edge of the old town, but not really walking distance to the town centre. However, we have always found somewhere to park downtown.

"Wine tasting in Niagara on the Lake"
wawhyte, 25 Juillet 2023

The Best Western is well located to get to anywhere in the Niagara on the Lake vicinity. Accommodations are comfortable and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and well maintained. Value was good considering the time of year.

"Room Location is Everything"
Laen27, 24 Juillet 2023

We selected a Queen Jetted Tub Suite for our anniversary visit. Unfortunately, one of these 2 suites available is located directly across from the breakfast room, which begins prepping around 630AM. The noise from the people, plates and banging is way too early for a restful, relaxing stay. Jessica (Manager) understood our issue and was able to find a reasonable solution for us, which meant relocating to another hotel. The property was good, however, due to the location of our room, our stay was less than satisfactory. The room was clean, the linens were crisp.

"Great location"
18Kel, 03 Juillet 2023

Great base for Niagara on the Lake. Nice clean room. Breakfast provided in the morning with a good choice. Yea/coffee in the room. Plenty of towels, toiletries in the bathroom, hairdryer provided. The mattress's being stored on the top balcony spoilt the look of the place.

"Great hotel"
Cheryl D, 25 Juin 2023

This is my second time staying here on a girls trip. The hotel is clean. The staff are friendly & helpful. Butlers bar & grill next door is fun also. Good food & atmosphere & great way to end the evening. Great location for wineries or shopping. Would definitely stay here again.

"Wonderful, Cozy Hotel"
csmiley135, 07 Juin 2023

This hotel was super clean, everyone was very friendly, breakfast was delicious, perfect location for wine tours. 10/10! This hotel made me feel welcomed and made me feel like I was at home. I loved how they provided fresh cookies to you as you check in.

"Highly recommend"
Road491444, 02 Juin 2023

The staff were very helpful with questions about the area. They went above and beyond to help us with everything. Rooms were nice and clean. Housekeeping kept the room clean and maintained it during our stay. They had a good morning breakfast with several options. There were several really good restaurants close by. Highly recommend.

"Good location - great breakfast - friendly staff"
Peter Z, 02 Juin 2023

What can I say, a great house with friendly staff, a very attentive breakfast lady, a great breakfast - with porcelain - a comfortable room, the house has a balcony to sit outside. A few different restaurants nearby. We will definitely come back here!

"Best Stay at NOTL"
ngldk306, 27 Décembre 2022

The hotel has very friendly staff and they all have a cheerful attitude which makes you feel welcome. The breakfast has a good variety of items. Rooms ate clean and very quiet. Overall, an excellent choice!

"Great hotel"
NeilVelma1, 12 Décembre 2022

The is a great hotel and at a very good price. Was close to many attractions and was also able to charge our electric vehicle. Great value and friendly staff! Will return for sure as the area has so many things to do.

"Best stay at the Best Western!!"
CB2Mom, 08 Décembre 2022

We had a lovely time. The accommodations were stellar, great location, and amazing service. The morning breakfast waffles were delicious. The staff made sure we had everything we needed. The room was A+++++ Clean, fully stocked, and comfortable. We will be back!!!

"An Excellent place to stay"
Irishrover m, 06 Décembre 2022

Everything was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was well set up and spotless. Breakfast was delicious. I could not have asked for a nicer stay. Even though the rules did not allow me to stay over the departure time, the lovely young man on the desk stretched it for me until my ride arrived.

"I'm glad that I stayed here."
Borys S, 20 Novembre 2022

Check in and check out was very good - polite, prompt and professional staff. The hotel was well taken care of. The breakfast was good - a standard breakfast that you find at most hotels where a "free" breakfast is included, I was pleased with the location. I didn't want to be in the heart of the tourist area downtown and this hotel fit that bill, but it was a quick drive to get there. I'm glad I stayed here.

"Great Stay!"
fclosson, 16 Novembre 2022

My wife an dI had a geat time at Colonel Butler Inn. It was a great price and a close walk to downtown. The staff were great and the breakfast tasted fine. The room was clean. We had to stay in the 2 double bed room. The bed was on the small size. We have an electric car and the free charger was a great bonus. We would for sure come back again!

"Best Wester Colonel Butler NOTL"
Lisa B, 12 Novembre 2022

Great stay at this hotel, Lovely staff all friendly and helpful and they seemed happy to be working there. The women running the breakfast room were beyond helpful. The room was spotless with a huge deep and long tub. Loved being able to let fresh air in with the windows able to open. The only negative was the noise between rooms. There isn't a lot of insulation I think. I would say the majority of the guests must have been really quiet. Both ourselves and our friends (who had a room on a different floor at the other end of the hotel) had some challenges with sleeping because we each had one group near us who were louder. I didn't say anything to the staff because the guests weren't really being that loud….just thin walls. We were a nice 20 minute walk from the downtown and would highly recommend the Sand Trap restaurant just a few minutes walk away. Would not recommend the restaurant attached to the hotel “Butler's Grill”. The woman running the bar was extremely rude…there was no pool table despite the sign saying there was….and I think this is probably why there were absolutely no other patrons there.

"Great Stay!"
Flash2, 04 Novembre 2022

We loved our stay. We had a dog friendly room. We stayed November 2022 as Niagara on the Lake is lovely in the fall. The location has a Tim Hortons within walking distance. it also offers continental breakfast. Penny at the front desk was lovely.

"Friendly Hotel Inn"
210Satisfied, 07 Octobre 2022

All the staff we encountered (front desk clerk, cleaning staff and breakfast server) during our stay were very friendly and helpful. They were helpful and knowledgeable regarding our questions for restaurants and wineries to visit.

"Relaxing vacation"
h0pe182, 21 Septembre 2022

Beds were very comfortable, shower had firm pressure, continental breakfast had variety of choices of juices, coffee, muffins, cereal, as well as waffles, hard boiled and egg omelettes, fresh fruits and very friendly and helpful staff. You will enjoy sitting on their large front porch having your breakfast outdoors. The hotel was a 5 minute drive to the center of town where all the shops and restaurants were located. However, the Butler Grill next door to the hotel had great food and was a wonderful choice away from all the crowds. Something to keep in mind, parking all around the center of town is expensive, and there are parking police who monitor that you have paid to park. Also, we enjoyed an afternoon at the Shaw Theatre. Great performance by the actors.

"Close to everything"
travellinjones, 01 Septembre 2022

The Best western is not in the heart of NOTL but within walking distance at a more reasonable cost. There is an excellent restaurant called Ruffino's across the street as well as the Willow Bakery which we visited daily for breakfast scones. The staff is extremely accommodating.

"Amazing stay in niagara-on-the-lake"
vickypeloffy, 24 Août 2022

We had an amazing stay at the best western hotel. It was only a 20 minutes walk from queen street and 5 minutes drive. A lot of restaurant are near the hotel. The staff was also really gentle and calm. We received cookies at our arrival!

"Quiet place to stay"
smiley795, 21 Août 2022

Beautiful hotel. Located in a quiet area of Niagara on the Lake. We had a room located on the first floor. A spacious room, with a fireplace, living room setup , 2 tv's, jetted tub. It was great being across from the breakfast room. The staff were friendly and helpful. They aren't entering rooms during your stay so if you need supplies you'll have to go to the front desk. It's a 2 floor hotel, no elevator. Restaurant located right beside the hotel. Id stay here again.

"Stay elsewhere"
cwhite8083, 19 Août 2022

I booked my reservation almost 1 year prior to my stay. I got the crappiest room. 107 right off of the lobby. I expressed my concern about hearing all the noise from the lobby but was told that this is a quiet hotel. Sorry BS I requested another room but oh no we are full. I hear everyone checking in and out! Again I complained and was told no availability. I should have listened to my gut instinct and booked elsewhere where they have much more to offer. Breakfast is nothing to write home about. You don't have housekeeping services. No pool. Pretty baron Bottom line book elsewhere because your concerns will fall on deaf ears

"Good choice of hotel in Niagara-on-the-lake"
22judec2022, 17 Août 2022

Everything went well with the reservation online and our check-in at the desk. The employee was very nice and accomodating. The room was clean and fit the description on the website. It was a bit small for a family of 4 with grownup children! The breakfast was good, there was a couple of choices and you can easily find something to your liking (waffle batter, bagels, sliced bread, cereals, coffe, tea, fruits, yogourt, etc.). The service for the breakfast was very good, the lady was very nice and thouhghfull. The gym is small but in working order! There are showers, if one might need it. The hotel is in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood and near some vineyards. I recommend it.

"Value not commensurate with cost"
jonD7245LH, 09 Août 2022

I understand that location increases the cost but the bare minimum in upkeep here. Spend the extra and stay somewhere that adds to the character and charm of the town rather than one that exploits it.

"Best Western is indeed the Best."
Cbwatters39, 01 Août 2022

Stayed here for a wedding in town. Price was reasonable for NOTL, staff was super friendly and the room was very comfortable. The staff in the breakfast room was really personable and friendly and kept everything filled and ready for us to have breakfast.

"Horrible"
alessandrapatimisco, 26 Juillet 2022

We spent $700 to stay 2 nights at this hotel. The A/C in the room was absolutely freezing! We couldn't adjust it because it was stuck on the same setting. Our room felt like a freezer. My husband and I were in his brothers wedding party and the next day we were both extremely sick for the wedding. The hotel also, didn't have enough towels for all the rooms and told us to use the tiny face towels we had to shower. We also came back to a room that was not cleaned or restocked with towels (larger than the ones we had). For the amount of money we paid for a 2 night stay I'm disgusted in the service we had. We had a lot of family stay at the same hotel and everyone experienced multiple problems in their rooms as well. I highly recommend you spend your money else where.

"Amazing place and staff"
gshayward, 25 Juillet 2022

The room was beautiful, breakfast was amazing and the staff went above and beyond to recommend things for us to do while in Niagara on the Lake. We were blown away by how comfortable and clean the room was and even my picky pants child loved the breakfast!

"our 10th anniversary."
dalemR204QV, 02 Juillet 2022

this was an excellent little hotel for a little getaway. Excellent staff, great service. hotel was quaint and cozy. would recommend it and will indeed be back. Thank you. the little lady on the breakfast service was a delight to be around.

"Great Place!"
NorthCoastSnowBird, 16 Mai 2022

My husband and I spent one night at Niagara on the Lake as we were passing through the region. We were very impressed with the Butler Inn. The accommodations were very clean and the staff was very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to help. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone. Thank you so much!

"Weekend break"
brantfordcharlie, 16 Mai 2022

This Hotel is our 'go to' place, every time we visit Niagara on the Lake.We try to go for a 3 day weekend Spring and Summer. The staff are amazing and treat you like Family.I cant say enough good things about them, other than a huge thank you for all they do..

"Excellent stay and well locate near downtown NOTL"
JuniperB44, 26 Avril 2022

This hotel is a gem providing updated rooms with comfortable beds and all the amenities you would receive at a more expensive property and more so. My sisters and I stayed here and were able to walk to the lake and downtown Niagara on the Lake in about 15-20 minutes. The hotel staff are extremely accommodating and attentive to your needs. The breakfast is generous in portion and good quality.

"Visiting NOTL"
phil d, 19 Avril 2022

Excellent option if you are not into the B&B experience. 1km away from downtown NOLT and close to a bike rental business (best way to see the wineries in the summer). The hotel is small and quiet. Not missing any amenities. Staff are excellent and friendly. Have stay many times and will be back.

"Great little hotel"
Alan T, 17 Avril 2022

We stayed here for 5 nights in April. Very quiet, restaurants and a bakery nearby. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast every morning was great. Walkable to downtown and the lake. Would definitely stay here again.

"Short vacation"
hatoffl, 15 Mars 2022

Needed a quick getaway for a day. Found this property and location was great place to relax and enjoy the area. Will certainly book this hotel again during the summer. Hotel was very clean and comfortable, with very friendly helpful staff.

"Quiet hotel"
ron h, 23 Janvier 2022

Nice quiet property with complimentary breakfast. Close to the old Town area of Niagara On The Lake. Front desk was personable and informative. Quick check in and good information about the area. I would definitely stay again

"Great Hotel very well located"
C4174CErichardb, 03 Janvier 2022

Enjoyed our summer visit to Niagara on the Lake and our stay at the Colonel Butler Best Western. Our room was very spacious and had a fireplace which we didn't use because it was summer but a nice touch expected only in the higher priced Establishments. Although we didn't walk to the Old Towne because of the humidity and heat, we normally could have - just 15-20 minute walk. Very affordable for NOL accommodations. Friendly and helpful staff in every department. The Colonel Butler Sports Bar next door is great for lunch, simple dinner or night cap. A very nice Hotel.

"New Years Eve"
parkedavid, 02 Janvier 2022

The staff were courteous and worked hard to make sure our stay was nice. The room was very clean. The hotel was very close to the downtown of Niagra on the Lake and made it easy to walk to amenities. We enjoyed our stay very much.

"A great stay."
Curiosity286537, 21 Décembre 2021

We had a very enjoyable stay at BW Colonel Butler Inn. The room is very clean. Covid protocols are in place. It was our first stay away from home since the pandemic started. The service was excellent. We enjoyed our grab and go box breakfast. It breakfast sandwich included was tasty. Highly recommended this cute little BW to everyone.

"Clean and cozy"
chantellavigne, 13 Décembre 2021

Great stay, comes with breakfast which was delicious and generous portions. Front staff was amazing especially Penny. 5 minute ride to the main strip. Nice clean rooms, clean hotel. I highly recommend.

"Great experience"
justjeanne09, 10 Décembre 2021

They go the extra mile. Helpful staff. Very considerate people. Helpful to seniors. Room was great. Sleep was wonderful. Booking, check in, check out and services were easy to use and efficient. Bravo Colonel Butler Inn!

"Friendly service"
N412KXkaren, 02 Décembre 2021

We book a room to be close to our dog having surgery. Pet friendly room was well set up and staff were very accommodating. Power went out during our stay and the front desk call to check in on us and offered any assistance that might be required.

"Great Great Value"
02retired, 01 Décembre 2021

We booked three rooms as the price continues to be reasonable. We have found the rooms very clean and the beds very comfortable. Covid policy is followed as you must be masked while in public areas. Because of covid breakfast was ordered upon checkin and you could have a hot or cold menu. You gave them the time that you requested breakfast and you went down to the restaurant where you would pickup your order and take it back to your room. My only complaint was the coffee maker in the one room didn't work and management said they would correct it but unfortunately we only stayed one night so hopefully when we return all rooms will be excellent. One tip if you have difficulty with stairs please ask for a room on the first floor.

"NOTL pricing without NOTL quality"
ShantyBabe, 17 Novembre 2021

First upon entry the smell in the lobby is terrible I'm not sure what the smell is but it needs to be addressed. The halls smell too as did our room but not as bad as the lobby. The receptionist was not remotely friendly or welcoming. When I said hello she just looked at me, there was uncomfortable silence until I said I had a reservation. I don't believe she smiled even once. There is no elevator and at the top of the stairs there were things stored right out where people are walking by The balcony at the end of the hall has no chairs and is dirty. Obviously plants are watered and when there is dirt spilt out of them it is just left there. It is ingrained in the carpeting The air conditioning smelt in our room and was ridiculously noisy to the point of waking us repeatedly. The furniture in the room is too large for the room. The pillows were lumpy and in need of replacing. In the bathroom a hair dryer or mirror has been removed. The repair needs repairing since it is all lumpy and isn't even painted. It's just left as a big repair on the wall When we were leaving the next morning we were met with the unpleasant view of a storage room. Looking at the photo I have a pretty good idea of what the smell is… Niagara on the Lake is an expensive area because it's bar is set high. Tourists expect to pay more than average because they receive higher than average. In this situation I paid higher than average (over $300) and received way below average in every way. I left a review elsewhere of this property and the response listed stated that their team reached out to me and I didn't respond to them. Either one hand doesn't know what the other is doing or ..... because I responded to them Tues Oct 5 at 1:56pm, responding to their email of October 4th, just another example of the service you can expect from this property

"sister trip"
rhondaleighdh, 28 Octobre 2021

my sisters and I stayed here and we had fantastic service and we loved our room. The beds were very comfortable. Loved the fireplace option as the weather was dreary while we were there! Very cozy atmosphere

"Butler's Best"
LJYToronto, 25 Septembre 2021

A clean and comfortable hotel in Niagara on the Lake with reasonable prices. Only a 20 min. walk to the historic old town. Conviently located across from Willows Bakery, Ruffino's for Italian food, and a Tim's. Very friendly staff!

"Good location, great service"
siddheshmalgaonkar, 07 Septembre 2021

Very convinient location near all the tourist attractions. Service was great. Not a great value for money though. Guest rooms are clean and decent but don't justify the price. Breakfast is grab and go during covid times and some services like gym not functional during covid-19. Overall a good experience but not a great value for the money, price can be more competitive.

"My trip"
Paul C, 06 Septembre 2021

My recent trip to niagara on the lake and i stayed at the col butler inn hotel in niagara on the lake. I had a amazing stay at the hotel the room was nice clean and great staff and friendly service i want to stay their again

"Misleading voucher for breakfast at adjacent bar & grill"
LarryJSabo, 17 Août 2021

The room was satisfactory, except for a slow-draining sink and immovable shower head pointed at shower wall -- you had to lean against the wall to get wet. The room was on 2nd floor and there was no elevator. It wasn't consistent with the $299 and $239 charged for the Saturday and Sunday nights we stayed. Our main complaint was feeling mislead by a $8.95 voucher for breakfast at the Butler Sports Bar and Grill next door. The menu for the voucher was restricted to items listed at $6.49 and included tea or coffee ($2.25); it would have been cheaper to throw away the voucher and just pay the $8.74, unless it was included in the cost of the room as we had assumed. We mistakenly assumed the voucher was complimentary, in lieu of having the included breakfast at the hotel. We were surprised to find the $8.95 per person added to our hotel bill. The breakfast at the Bar & Grill was one of the worst we have ever had because of *extremely* slow service (only one waitress serving 8 or more tables) and the *horrible* coffee.

"Family getaway"
vinnieh77, 12 Août 2021

A bit disappointed with hotel. Beds were small and bathroom is tight. I understand it is COVID but a bit more could be done to make stay more enjoyable. Like chairs on the front porch and put out wipes for people to use on them.

"Superb Staff, Great Location for Cyclists, Workable Location for Car-Less"
Daniel W, 06 Août 2021

I visited Niagara-on-the-Lake for the first time ever this August. The Best Western is situated perhaps 10-15 minutes walk from the commercial center of Queen Street and perhaps 20-25 minutes walk from some of the more popular Niagara River/Lake Ontario viewing points. I imagine there are those that prefer to be a bit closer to the activity and liveliness of Queen Street or water views; from what I could tell, the hotels nearest Queen Street and the water were quite expensive especially on a nice summer day, so something to weigh. This said, the Best Western is delightfully situated right next to a bike rental place, Zoom, where you can rent a bike for 3 hours for $25 and for the whole day for $35. Biking along the Niagara Parkway and doing a wine tasting was an absolutely magical way to spend a day, so renting a bike is something I would definitely recommend. Having a bicycle definitely makes getting to Queen Street and the water pretty fast and would be great option for a car-less visitor--thereby eliminating the issue of the hotel being several long blocks from the heart of Queen Street. Uber is a possibility too, but be aware that sometimes there's a wait with drivers coming from closer to St. Catharines or Niagara Falls. I thought the hotel staff was great--extremely kind, personable and professional. I have no complaints either about the bedroom & bathroom, which were well-kept. The bed was perfectly comfortable and I slept well. Due to CoVid, at present a mask is required in public areas and a no-frills breakfast is picked up in a box to be eaten elswhere (I ate in my room) with only 3 at a time waiting in the breakfast room. I had a great time. The hotel I find pricey for what you get, although Niagara-on-the-Lake generally speaking is upscale and summer is a busy time, so I shouldn't be too surprised.

"Very nice hotel in quiet area of town"
pstanulis2021, 01 Août 2021

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Staff was very professional, welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean, cozy and well appointed. Breakfast was fully satisfactory, considering the circumstances with the pandemic. We liked the location in town, away from all the crowds, but still very walkable to all restaurants, shops and amenities. We found the room rather pricey for what it was. Other than that we can definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again in the future.

"First Hotel Stay since the Pandemic - Very Pleased"
Karen S, 23 Juillet 2021

I have not stayed in a hotel since the pandemic began. Very hesitant and nervous, but had to start the transition back to normal. It was well worth the stay. The hotel was spotless, rooms were beyond clean, likely the cleanest room I've ever stayed in. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and the location for anyone travelling to NOTL.

"Niagara on the Lake Best Western"
Geoff R, 20 Juillet 2021

i felt that they used Covid as an excuse. Towels and beds were not done. Toilet leaked. No hot water in sink. The hotel was starting to fall apart. Cement work was cracking, sidewalks were sinking. The grounds compared to the rest of the area were not taken care of.

"Great"
Diana I, 15 Avril 2021

The hotel is in a good area, close to everything you need in Niagara On The Lake. The hotel and room was very clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Covid lockdown kicked in the day we left and the staff made sure that we still had access to the complimentary breakfast.

"Great value"
di7772021, 04 Avril 2021

Cute hotel close to the downtown area of Niagara On The Lake. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were so sweet, accommodating, and friendly. They've ensured to provide great service despite covid lockdown - offering their free breakfast via pickup as oppose to the buffet they would normally offer. Great value overall!

"Amazing Quiet Getaway"
Angie W, 21 Février 2020

I stayed at the Best Western from February 15th until February 19th, 2020. I wanted a quiet time alone for my birthday and to see some family and friends. I had an amazing time from the day I checked in until I had to leave. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is an exercise room and a nice complementary breakfast with make your own waffles. The room was spotless and I just would stay here again several times. The van ride to the wineries was such a treat. Andrew and Rob were so helpful and kind. It was a very informative and fun trip with lots of ice wine and fun. I would love to come back again in April and over the summer.

"peaceful stay"
patriciapE9602TJ, 10 Février 2020

A nice, cozy hotel near everything we wanted to do in the Niagara on the Lake region. Beds were super comfy, rooms very clean, and in a very quiet area. Breakfast was tasty and there is an option for full breakfast at their restaurant. Staff were friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. Highly recommend this hotel.

"Nice clean Hotel"
cryyzac, 26 Janvier 2020

Stayed one night at the Hotel, quite small but clean and comfortable, there is a Restaurant and bar attached to the Hotel, about a 20 minute walk into town or $10 dollar cab fare. I thought the price was too high though.

"New Years Eve"
Carol P, 06 Janvier 2020

Stayed here over New Years Eve. Have stayed here a couple of other times and still not disappointed. Lovely, homey, comfortable place to stay. Rooms are basic, but very comfortable. Front desk staff are very helpful and cheerful. Rooms are very clean. Breakfast room is small but comfortable. Breakfast is regular continental but good. Lady who runs kitchen/breakfast room is wonderful. Always so helpful and very cheerful. She is awesome. During this stay, we could not get our tv to work, so front desk staff came down and had it fixed in no time. Cleaning staff had bumped plug and we did not realize it. This hotel is small and quaint, but with Best Western qualities. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing, comfortable, homey atmosphere.

"Nice stay and good price for NOTL"
Andy W, 02 Janvier 2020

Friendly and welcoming staff (even got a little cookie treat on arrival!), nice size room and facilities. It's an easy 15 minute walk to NOTL main street and shops etc. so location is fine. Only downside was the breakfast, it's very limited, there's no hot/cooked options and it's all sweet foods apart from the bread, pretty disappointing as we were quite looking forward to a good breakfast, they do bake fresh muffins though which is a nice touch. Would stay again as it's a good price and comfortable room but recommend getting breakfast elsewhere.

"Lovely property in great position for NOTL experience"
Allison P, 01 Janvier 2020

Stayed one night at this very comfortable property. Made to feel very welcome by all staff members. Great location only a 5 min drive (15min walk if it wasn't raining so hard!!) to the main NOTL shops etc. Breakfast was amazing and far exceeded our modest expectations given that it was also included in the room rate. Would definitely stay here again. About 25mins from Niagara falls area too.

"As advertised a good place to stay"
02retired, 21 Décembre 2019

We were in for just one night and in Niagra on the Lake your hotel can be very expensive with a few inexpensive hotels within the immediate area. We noticed that on Tripadvisor that most review were very good so we booked a room with two queen beds. Upon arrival we were greeted and advised where our rooms would be located. Upon arrival, we were very pleased that the room was extremely clean, good beds and excellent linen. Breakfast which was included was a help yourself to cereal, waffles, yogurt, toast ( white, wholeweart or rye), fresh fruit, eggs, all types of juice with coffee or tea. The food was presented very good and their was a person available if you had any questions or you needed assistance. Definitely stay again, with the only distraction is you more than likely need to drive a short distance( maybe 6 or 8 blocks to Queen street.

"Great Accommodations"
485garyj, 17 Décembre 2019

Right from the moment of checking in everything was very positive. Jessica at the front desk was very informative about area and things to see and do and great with directions. She also took interest in our experiences while there. A great asset to Best Western. Room was very clean and quiet. Nice breakfast restaurant next door. Next time in the area we will book there.

"Quite Comfortable"
Diver40, 12 Décembre 2019

Stayed here for the night to see a play at Shaw and see the Christmas lights at the Falls. Quiet area, clean and welcoming Hotel. Room was nice, and the bathroom was large enough. Could do a bit better job with breakfast-have done many road trips, especially in the USA, and many Best Western Hotels offer a bit more for breakfast.

"Pleasant stay"
Inspire135586, 09 Décembre 2019

Very nice hotel. Rooms are always clean. It's also very quiet. Staff are always cheerful and pleasant. My mom and I come to NOTL every year for the candlelight stroll and this the hotel of our choice.?

"Good night at BW"
JR-TORON, 06 Décembre 2019

A nice accommodation at Niagara on the Lake. Close enough to the main street and festivities. the included continental breakfast was well stocked with a good variety of offerings. Waffle maker was a nice treat. Overall a pleasant experience with clean rooms and friendly staff.

"overnight trip"
L4066FJsylvias, 02 Décembre 2019

Quiet and clean, staff accommodating. Location to the falls and all the sites including wineries close by. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle but close enough that travel time to the Falls is within reason.

"Best place to stay"
mbam20192019, 27 Novembre 2019

This was our third trip to niagra on the lake. The last few times we stayed in one of the boutique hotels. Best western certainly provides stiff competition and better value for money. Our room came complete with sitting area, fireplace and whirlpool tub. It is centrally located with the Center of town a leisurely stroll away. The staff was very accomodating and able to direct us to places to see and best places to eat. We even received some complimentary tickets for wine tasting. I would definitely make this my hotel of choice next time I am back in niagra on the lake

"one of the best hotel in Niagar on The LAke"

the hotel is great, calm and relax, good breakfast excellent service from the arrive to when you leave the hotel FREE EV plug for electric, car at no charge, WOW.... free fast wi-fi and free news paper every morning. they can prepare you a take out breakfast if you have to leave fast the bed are very confortable to.

"Great value for anyone visiting Niagara on the Lake"
jjhtoronto, 20 Novembre 2019

First time I stayed at the Best Western Colonel Butler and I was extremely happy. Hotel has been beautifully renovated so feels fresh, modern and new. Rooms are super clean and have everything one needs. Location good ... short walk to Queen Street and shops. Staff helpful, friendly and courteous. If you are looking for a really comfortable place to stay for a fraction of the price of many of the hotels in Niagara on the Lake, I highly recommend this property.

"Best place"
Sara B, 12 Novembre 2019

We stayed at the Best Western Colonial Buttler Inn for a girls weekend at NOTL. It was in the perfect location. Close to everything we planned to do. Reasonably priced but very clean, quiet, and great staff. Our wine tour picked us up at the BW. We were a close driving distance to the 100 fountains spa, the old angel inn, and the wineries. Highly recommend.

"A gem in quaint town!"
PBandJamminJourneys, 08 Novembre 2019

We stayed here during the July 1st long weekend for a wedding we attended in town. We were very pleased with our choice and will definitely be back! The staff was friendly. We booked a suite and were very pleased with it. The room had a couch, two TVs, and a fireplace. It was at the end of the hall near the front of the building and we were very surprised to find a communal patio right outside of our door. We used it quite often to take in a late lunch or to enjoy the beautiful weather. We really enjoyed having it there. The hotel itself is about a 15 minute walk from "Downtown Niagara on the Lake" and this was perfect. Within a 5 minute drive are multiple wineries and the Oast House Brewery. The only downside to our stay was an issue with our shower. The shower curtain rod was coming out of the wall and very unstable. We reported it to the staff, but it could not be fixed during our stay. All in all we were very impressed.

"NO SLEEP"
adeleverardi59, 27 Octobre 2019

Not what was advertised, fell below .Location was good but had to pay extra for a hot breakfast after no sleep the night before could have offered a complementary (would have been a good thought)BAD NIGHT WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN

"A Very Good Value"
Maryann L, 24 Octobre 2019

We were here with friends and had reserved three rooms. Check in was quick and friendly and we all found the rooms acceptable. The decor was relaxing in shades of gray and tan. The bed and bath linens were of good quality. The hotel is in a quiet residential area yet within walking distance to the historic district. Our only recommendation would be to upgrade the breakfast to include scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage. Check out was equally easy. Staff was so helpful recommending restaurants and offering luggage and travel information assistance.

"Best Western - NOTL - Cozy & Quaint"
B6isson, 22 Octobre 2019

The Best Western - Colonel Butler Inn in Niagara On The Lake was cozy and quaint. Loved the ambiance of the hotel and the people were lovely. Rates were reasonable for the area. We travel there every year for the same weekend. I will definitely stay again.

"Away from the hustle and bustle "
mikelaketahoe, 19 Octobre 2019

My wife and I stayed here for two nights when originally we were booked in a hotel at niagra falls, what a result, this hotel is lovely, clean, quiet and the most friendly staff. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a beautiful little town and the Colonel Butler inn is the perfect place to stay. The falls are just a 15 minute drive away Along the beautiful Niagra parkway. Although the falls were not to be missed the area around the falls is not that pleasant. If looking for a special place to stay this is it. The restaurant on site also serves decent well priced food and drink.

"Friendly hotel"
cheryld843, 12 Octobre 2019

Went on a girls getaway-3 of us. Hotel room had plenty of room for all our needs. Staff was extremely helpful & accommodating-especially Janice. Breakfast was good. Lounge was nice for a drink after winery day. Good food also. Nice location too.

"Great stay"
Loretta J, 08 Octobre 2019

Beautiful, quaint building. Breakfast was fine. Waffles are a nice addition to regular continental breakfast. There was an option to upgrade for hot breakfast from restaurant behind. Stayed only 1 night and was perfect for us. All my encounters with staff was pleasant. I would stay here again.

"Soft beds and cramped room"
Akinoushi, 02 Octobre 2019

We love to stay at the Colonel Butler Inn at Niagara-on-the -Lake, in the King Suite style rooms. They have comfortable King beds and fireplaces. However the double room was very cramped and the mattresses are quite old and soft. Very uncomfortable sleep. We love the location because it is a 15 minute walk to the Irish pub and downtown. Now that NOTL has started charging for parking on every side street, we park at the hotel and walk. There are a restaurant and café right there, plus a Tim Hortons. It is easy to reach from the outskirts of town.

"Theater stay"
tcvtraveler, 30 Septembre 2019

Col Butler Inn came to our aid when we found that we needed an extra night in town. Luckily a room was available and we were able to stay in town longer. The staff, especially Janice at check in, helped us out.

"Here for the Shaw Theatre"
Kaikirs, 27 Septembre 2019

Excellent Hotel, the rooms are nice and the beds are so comfortable. Wonderful desk staff, the breakfast in the am was wonderful.. They will accomodate if you need the main floor, So close to everything. Walking distance to downtown

"Always a Great Stay"
Brian S, 24 Septembre 2019

I have stayed here probably at least 8 or 10 times during the past 8 or 10 years. Always my go to place in Niagara-on-the Lake whether you are here for the dozens of wineries or quaint shopping or fantastic plays at the Shaw Festival.

"Good choice"
Miles7000, 23 Septembre 2019

Nice hotel in a reasonably quiet neighbourhood. We had a room on the second floor which had two very comfortable double beds. Usual breakfast buffet was well stocked throughout the breakfast period. Only criticism is that the breakfast room is not big enough to cope with the number of guests, but it wasn't a major problem. All the right staff were courteous and very helpful.

"Pam and John"
brantfordcharlie, 16 Septembre 2019

As always....this place is our ‘home from home, both Spring and Fall every year. The staff are amazingly friendly, and greet you like old friends. All the rooms have been updated and the new lobby is just beautiful. We wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else, when we visit Niagara on the Lake.

"Two Day Getaway for bicycle wine tour"
Runninggal30, 03 Septembre 2019

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Colonel Butler Inn for two nights midweek at the end of August(28th&29th). We had booked a wine tour through zoom leisure bike rental and since this hotel was across the street and came with a free continental breakfast we decided to stay here. Check in was quick and the staff at the front desk were two of the nicest people I have met at ANY hotel or resort. Well done ladies, your exceptional customer service is exactly what would make us come back to this hotel. Our room was on the second floor, accessible by stairs - I do not think this hotel has an elevator but I may be wrong. The room was updated and very clean and comfortable. The building is old, which is part of the NOTL charm but the room was very damp(my husband thinks it may be an HVAC issue), the walls are thin and the doors need to be pulled tight to close. Bring earplugs!!!!! Both the first and second floor have shaded patio/balconies with tables and chairs at the front of the building where you can relax in the shade - we enjoyed a post brekkie coffee here. The continental breakfast was standard- loved the waffle station. We had an issue with our toilet handle not working but it was fixed when we went out on our wine tour. Maintenance even left a cute novelty chocolate wrench for our inconvenience. Thank you for your hospitality. If we decide to stay overnight in the area again we will return.

"A bargain worth considering"
johncH5928YF, 30 Août 2019

We knew we wouldn't spend much time in our hotel room; so, it made no sense paying the rates at Pillar & Post or Prince of Wales. The Best Western met our needs very well. The rooms were clean and well appointed but small. We enjoyed use of the balcony at cocktail hour before going to dinner. With the exception of the clerk who checked us in on Sunday night, the staff was friendly, engaging and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable and happy.

"Quaint and Peaceful"
333Christie, 18 Août 2019

We were expecting a typical Best Western property but we were pleasantly surprised with the little details that made the hotel feel cozy and quaint. They had cute glass carafe in the room for water. They have lovely outdoor seating areas on every floor. It is located in a quiet neighborhood not far from the historic town. The woman at the front desk was welcoming and very helpful with information. She gave us a nice map of the area. The room was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of free parking and they offer a free breakfast.

"Nice overnight stay"
Cheryl B, 11 Août 2019

We needed a quick trip to relax a bit so my husband and I visited this Best Western. Great check in,room clean and comfortable. Nice walk into town. Nice continental breakfast yoo. We did visit the attached bar/restaurant. Really quite nice, reasonable prices! Very nice escspe!

"Very nice hotel"
66truss, 08 Août 2019

Spent one night with wife while visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake. Charming upscale hotel. Large rooms with nice sitting area. Close to downtown. Quiet area and has excellent restaurant next door. The breakfast was very good and the lady who took care of the food area was so nice and made it feel like we were at a bed and breakfast. It is pricey but you are in Niagara on the lake.

"Very good all round "
AJC399, 07 Août 2019

Just a 5 minute drive from the lake shore this hotel is perfect for any visit to Niagara-on-The-Lake. Comfortable and clean & really helpful staff. The front desk team reserved a restaurant for us, booked a cab, gave us some milk & lent me a charger. Brilliant service. Breakfast was simple but very tasty, including a waffle maker.

"Lovely welcoming hotel"
ubiquitous7, 07 Août 2019

We loved this hotel and the whole Niagara-on-The-Lake area. Although maybe not the same facilities as larger hotels the really helpful and friendly staff more than made up for lack of size. Ideal location to walk or cycle and short drive from Niagara Falls, would definitely go back to this hotel if I was in the area.

"Pick another hotel."
Jet81239, 05 Août 2019

I am not fussy about decor, but I am about cleanliness. Expensive room that was very dirty when I arrived. There was urine on the bathroom floor - sticky- and the tub had hair in it. The bedding likewise had hair that was not mine. I was very disappointed in this room. The only good part of the stay was the complimentary shuttle service, and the breakfast was good (that area was clean).

"Our Toronto and Niagara on the Lake Vacation"
kigirl, 11 Juillet 2019

My husband and I, brother and his wife stayed at this charming hotel July 9-12. The hotel staff (Jessica, Janis and Kyle) were awesome! Very knowledgeable of the area they offered quite a few great suggestions to make our trip even more memorable! The continental breakfast in the morning was very good (fresh made muffins, waffles, cereal, hard boiled eggs...). The breakfast was made even more special by Leda! A very sweet lady who greets everyone who enters the breakfast room and makes the best muffins! I hope management knows how lucky they are to have Leda! Best yet this hotel is within walking distance or a short drive to shopping and the wineries! All and all you can't go wrong staying at this clean and well run establishment!

"Niagara on the Lake"
Janet V, 11 Juillet 2019

Niagara on the Lake is an amazing place to visit. Stay here and drive to the falls for the day, it is such a nice area and an easy drive. The wineries are wonderful. The Main Street is precious with fun stores and wonderful restaurants. And don't miss the sunset!

"we took our dog,chester"

"Great hotel in a great location"
Seaside42210781414, 02 Juillet 2019

Me and my family went to Niagara-On-The-Lake and staying at the Best Western was a great decision. Very well located (it takes 20 minutes by car to go to Niagara falls, beds are comfortable, and it has an incredible staff.

"Outstanding Hotel"
IamRoymonte, 30 Juin 2019

Super clean, updated, modern, inexpensive for the area. This hotel is just on the outskirt of the main road within walking distance to all the shops and attractions. The staff was super friendly, the free breakfast was very good and filled with options for all food desires.

"Fine Value in an expensive town"
PPNJ_07444, 23 Juin 2019

On our third trip to the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake, from New Jersey, we decided this year to save about a third of the usual hotel/B&B cost by staying at the Colonel Butler. We were assigned room 115 at the front of the bullding, across from the breakfast room. I was concerned we would be awakened with traffic noise going into the breakfast area, but such was not the case. Noise was never an issue. The room was a spacious L shaped accommodation, with 2 flat screen TVs - one in the comfortable seating area and one for watching from the bed. We had plenty of storage space for our 4 night stay. It appeared the immaculate room had been recently re-done with modern grays an neutrals in the color scheme. It offered free WiFi and had many charging outlets for mobile devices. The included breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold choices and while self-served, it was nice to have real china and stainless flatware rather than disposables. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is plentiful, and the restaurant/bar next door is open until 2 am, and a discount voucher there is available if a served breakfast is desired. It is a short drive to the center of the town and to all the theaters. Seniors should know that at least in our room the shower is part of the tub which is quite deep. For some this may be a challenge. There is also no elevator to the second floor. All in all, this is a fine Best Western. A good buy in a high priced town.

"Overnight stay."
14lynt, 18 Juin 2019

After spending one night in Niagara Falls we were keen to spend a night at Niagara-on-the-Lake. We went straight to a best western motel and booked in. Once again friendly service and lovely spacious rooms. When we were leaving we noticed a small dining room and asked about breakfast, to be told that breakfast had been included but unfortunately the check in person forgot to mention. The lovely man went to the kitchen, made us tea and coffee and gave us some muffins and apologised for the oversight. Since returning to Australia I have received an email ( I had filled in a survey) apologising for not letting us know about breakfast. I thoroughly recommend this place .

"Good girlfriend weekend hotel"
Marta51, 18 Juin 2019

The hotel was very clean and comfortable, staff was friendly, the exterior cute and well maintained. Not quite walking distance to Shaw Festival but they do offer a free shuttle and easy to drive. The Asian restaurant across the street was very good. The breakfast offered by the hotel was standard fare but very acceptable. I appreciated the fact that the windows open. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Excellent cost benefit"
Tour33072053307, 16 Juin 2019

The pros: The best price in the area, relatively close the downtown (20 min by walk, 5 by car). Staff really pleasant and a decent breakfast. The fastest check-out I have ever experienced. The cons: You kinda can hear your neighbours, ac and mini-fridge a little noisy and bed a bit too soft for my taste.

"Beautiful Location"
S9015GDdavidc, 13 Juin 2019

Excellent stay at a great inn where they've kept look of the building synonymous with the region of Niagara on the Lake! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my foot and they were able to accommodate us with a ground level room. The room was clean and nicely decorated.

"First time to write review of hotel"
Cheryl C, 10 Juin 2019

We spent weekend of June 7-9 for a wedding. Our room was lovely and very clean. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Thank you especially to Janice who was able to help with a last minute request. Though we did not require help with our luggage, staff offered to help. Nice variety of breakfast choices and it was a pleasure to eat on china and silverware. The breakfast room, and it is a separate room, was neat and comfortable, though we chose to eat on the expansive porch. What a relaxing way to start our mornings and interesting conversations with other quests. So glad you enjoyed the garden tours, Alfie and Joyce! Shuttle service is available to Old Town!

"Wedding weekend"
DGTR, 09 Juin 2019

The hotel is very clean and organized. The check in/ out is fast and painless. The stuff was very helpful and nice. The breakfast buffet could have a bit more choices. And the paint job in our washroom was atrocious, we have no idea how it passed inspection, it did not affect our stay at all, but it does not look good.

"Comfortable and clean, with lovely staff"
Leafwarbler, 03 Juin 2019

After the trauma of our GPS taking us 30 km out of our way after our long flight, the friendly greeting from Janice at her make-shift reception (the lobby was undergoing a makeover) was very welcome. Our room was comfortable and cosy whilst the bathroom was somewhat bijou. Furnishings were a little old fashioned, but that's just a matter of my taste. The complimentary breakfast was from 07:00, but juice and coffee seemed to be available earlier. Choices for us were absolutely fine - yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit, some baked goods and DIY waffles ( and I must apologise again for gumming the machine up - thanks for sorting it out for me, Lida). The Colonel Butler is a pleasant and flat 20 minute walk into the heart of the town, good for walking off calories from beer sampling, wine drinking and ice cream eating.

"Excellent room"
Kellsbells1031, 28 Mai 2019

We enjoyed this hotel, from the friendly staff at the front desk to our beautiful suite with the gas fireplace. This is located a little out of the Main Street area of Niagara on the lake but it is worth the short little drive into town. Our room was updated and huge. We had a lovely king sized bed, a couch, desk, fridge, dresser, and gas fireplace. The only thing that could have made it better is if it would have been located on the top floor. There is a restaurant right next door to this hotel. We did not try it out though. I would stay here again if ever in the area.

"Rooms are updated"
V5605SPjudyr, 08 Mai 2019

The location is very close to the wineries. The Inn is undergoing renovations in the reception area. The rooms were clean and updated. There are patio tables and chairs on both floors to allow you to sit outside. The breakfast was just ok. It is nice to have breakfast in the morning. The coffee in the room is better then the coffee in the breakfast area. If you have mobility issues ask for a room on the main floor there is no elevator.

"Great Inn and value for money!"
Parween S, 23 Avril 2019

BW Colonel Butler Inn was a nice place to stay at Niagara-on-the-lake. It was very close to the village and the nearby beach and park. The room was very clean with all necessary amenities. The staff were polite and offered great customer service. The continental breakfast is what you'd expect at an Inn. We'll definitely go back!

"Queen suit not a queen bed."
Thomas B, 23 Avril 2019

Paid extra to get a queen bed and sofa bed, turned out to be at least 4 inches more narrow than a standard queen. Also breakfast a huge disappointment, they have big signs saying they got dairy free replacements but they Don't !!!

"Fantastic"
Compass54331082462, 20 Avril 2019

Fantastic room, clean and good size. Fantastic location in a beautiful town (and lovely scenic drive to Niagara Falls). Good breakfast and lovely day staff. Would have stayed longer if we could have and will recommend to anyone I know going to Niagara. Great value for moneg

"Great stay"
dozzam, 19 Avril 2019

The hotel is situated in the old town of the Niagara On the Lake, which is a much quieter location. There is no lift so it's not convenient for us to carry large luggages through the stairs. No self-serve laundry facility on site, in fact we have been told there is no laundromat in the town either. The room was clean and compact. Breakfast was adequate with plenty of toast, bagel, cereals, fresh fruits, coffee etc. There is ice machine and filtered water at the basement. There is a zoom rental bike shop around the corner of the hotel. We hired the bike for 24hrs and explored a few wineries and surround. It costed $30/pp for 24hrs.

"Great Service"
Traveler07011222710, 17 Avril 2019

Our room was ready before the regular check-in time, staff was super friendly and they gave us cookies! Room was clean and with all the amenities and even though the breakfast was continental, there was nice variety. Staff was always friendly.

"quiet location"
B K, 17 Avril 2019

The hotel is located on a quiet street in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. The staff is great at giving directions to local attractions and recommending different restaurants to try. There a tons of wineries close by!

"A great value for a pleasant stay"
SNG56, 26 Mars 2019

Booked here as we are BW members and the price was very attractive. Arrived and were upgraded to a suite. The room was spacious, clean with every amenity. Wifi was great. Front desk staff very pleasant and helpful. We are walkers so we walked into the downtown area and over to Ft. George. It was probably around 4.5 km roundtrip. There are places to eat within walking distance as well. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend highly

"Pleasant stay."
bettyo88, 25 Mars 2019

"'The best ......"
justme4844, 16 Mars 2019

Only a overnight stop on return from vacation but all we could ask for ... friendly staff, convenient pub next door. Appeared to be recently updated, clean well cared for. Good breakfast choices, bright and clean room with A1 hostess and real dishes and cutlery.

"Another Excellent Stay"
Maxine H, 14 Mars 2019

We had the pleasure to stay at the Colonel Butler Inn for three nights. It is now under new management and the general manager Jessica is amazing. You will see her out and about the hotel helping out where needed. Kyle the new manager at the front desk is very helpful and efficient and was able to accommodate my reservation with very short notice. You will find any staff member you encounter during your stay is helpful and friendly. Rooms are very clean. Thank you to all the staff for their diligent work. We are looking forward to our return trip !

Conveniently located on the south end of the historic village, it's easy to reach from the QEW, and gets you right into the village where it's a comfortable walk to many points of interest. Meticulously clean, with friendly & accommodating staff, it offers all the modern amenities in a charming package that fits in with the traditional ambiance of the historic village.

"Good clean hotel."
BigGeorge62, 22 Février 2019

The Best Western Colonel Butler Inn is what it is, a clean comfortable hotel. The staff are friendly and willing to help in any way. Our room had two double beds, fridge and good size flat screen tv. The bathroom was small but functional. Location is good. There is a Tim Hortons across the road and a couple of restaurants very close by. The walk to NOTL town is about 15 minutes. They do provide a continental breakfast consisting of waffles, cereal, hard boiled eggs, bagels and toast. They have different tea's, coffee and orange juice. It'll keep you going till lunch. In all we had a good stay and would recommend it to others. Our bill was $110 all in for the night.

"Niagara on the Lake"
GrandTour34371735565, 11 Février 2019

Very quaint hotel with a friendly staff. Location was great Very close to all the wineries and great restaurants. Parking was easy and rooms were very clean. It was nice to have a mini fridge in our room.

"Happy to have discovered such a quaint place to stay"
TheWhittens, 25 Janvier 2019

We typically stay at one of the higher end properties when we go to NOTL, but due to budget constraints this trip we found this place. We're quite happy with the proximity to the local area attractions and the value for $ here was very good. Overall a great place to stay w/ clean rooms and great service! We had a group of 9 and everyone enjoyed their rooms and the stay

"Good rooms, staff"
beachbuminohio, 01 Janvier 2019

Stayed here two nights because other places in town were booked. A decent choice. The room was updated, comfortable and sizable. The hotel itself is small and there's a sports bar right next door. There are a few restaurants right by this hotel but the main center of town is less than a mile away, so the location is good, especially for what you're paying, it's a good way to save some money. Wineries are very close. You can probably visit a dozen or more within a five mile radius. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us coupons for free tastings at local wineries. Breakfast is limited but it's enough to get you going. Self serve.

"Great location, service and value"
Excursion22359076196, 28 Décembre 2018

We've stayed at the Colonel Butler several times. It is our "go to" option whenever we're in Niagara on the Lake. We've never been disappointed. Wonderful service, facilities and location and great value compared to other options in the area.

"Very positive hotel experience"
GrandTour179578, 12 Décembre 2018

The warm feeling of this hotel is reminiscent of a small family-run inn. Booking and check-in were easy. As it was December, the hotel was not busy and the service was very personal and friendly; an upgrade was offered immediately. The breakfast selection was varied and appealing. We would recommend this place.

"Niagra jewel"
Susan A, 04 Décembre 2018

Situated in a quiet neighborhood but still close to all amenities. Rooms are beautiful and well cared for I loved the fireplace in our queen suite. Staff very helpful. Continental breakfast had a large choice of items. Would stay here regularly if I could

"Our stay in Niagara - on -the Lake"
Seeram D, 28 Novembre 2018

We were attending a wedding and choose this hotel for its location. We were allowed early check in with no problems. The check in reception was very good and helpful. Room was small but okay for the time spent. Variety of breakfast items were good .We will stay in this hotel again for our next visit to Niagara on the Lake during the summer months. Will definitely recommend this hotel.

"Nice Country Inn"
MiataTraveller, 27 Novembre 2018

This hotel was modern, clean, and a short walk to the main street. The staff were exceptional and very helpful. They were busy decorating for the outside of the hotel for Christmas during our stay. It was looking beautiful. Would not hesitate to stay there again when visiting NOTL.

"Quaint, clean and great price"
newcastleshiraz, 14 Novembre 2018

Easy to find, this hotel is very clean, the rooms had all the amenities that someone would need. The beds are very comfortable, but pillows are soft. Friendly service, Janice is so welcoming and friendly, with a big smile for all her customers. They give delicious cookies to their customers. The breakfast every morning is fresh, with a great selection for a contenental breakfast.

"Very Friendly & Helpful"
Eraka, 20 Octobre 2018

We showed up at this hotel in "peek season" Saturday afternoon, Oct 2018 with no reservation. At the time they had no vacancies. The desk clerks were very helpful in giving us the name of several other accommodations and actually called for us. We were able to book that Sat night with another hotel and then Sunday and Monday night with Best Western Colonel. Rooms were very nice & clean. They serve a breakfast each morning. I would stay here again.

"Nice getaway"
Lovemyfamilytraveler, 12 Octobre 2018

Pleasantly surprised. Clean modern rooms, walking distance from the main area. Everyone is very helpful. The hotel even has porch that you can sit out on. We ate our breakfast there. The bar and grill restaurant next door had good food and gave you discount for staying at the hotel.

"Excellent Hotel"
DianneA114, 09 Octobre 2018

I loved the unique style of the hotel. The balconies were very peaceful and the front porch was very inviting with the flowers and pumpkins. The rooms were very spacious and I loved the seating area with the fireplace.

"Great stay at the end of a great day!"
dmckenzie258, 01 Octobre 2018

The Colonel Butler Inn was a last minute idea after planning a full day of touring the Beamsville/Niagara-on-the-lake area. We ate, sipped, walked toured till we dropped and it was such a treat to end our day at the Inn. The best part (besides the pleasant, helpful staff) were the beds. We just slipped off into dreamland, woke up to a great breakfast, refreshed for a full day touring. It was great. Thanks to everyone.

"1 night"
Craig S, 31 Août 2018

Rented a suite in the rear of the hotel. Room was clean, very comfortable and quiet. There was plenty of hot water; free ice, Wi-Fi which worked well and 2 tv's. Cereal, fruit, waffles, hot coffee and a very friendly staff worked well for us for breakfast. We arrived early to visit Niagra on the lake and received great tips from the staff. There is only steps to the second floor which could be problematic for some visitors. We were very satisfied but did review first.

"Great hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake"
prattcc2, 25 Août 2018

Good quiet location, close to town; excellent place to stay. Complimentary breakfast with hot and cold items and a good variety; enjoyed the outdoor patio. Well-appointed rooms; good staff. All in all, a very nice experience.

"Comfortable stay"
JimMcC1944, 19 Août 2018

Clean hotel with good buffet breakfast and convenient parking with a nearby restaurant. Not close to theatres and a shuttle would be a good addition,in my opinion.Overall,a nice property with good service and parking in a popular destination.

"3 Day stop over on the way to family reunion in NY."
Ned H, 02 Août 2018

We found this place to be a fantastic place to stay. Room was very clean, breakfast area fit location although we did have to move outside because breakfast room was too warm and crowded at peak time. Woman in breakfast room.was fantastic. Very friendly with a great sense of humor. She was so good at what she did that we decided to leave her a great tip. All staff members were great though. We would highly recommend this place for people that want to visits Niagara on the Lake Ontario without being right downtown. It's about 2 to 3 blocks away from downtown, but quiet, clean and the staff makes it a great place to stay!

"Good moderate-priced choice"
BronxSteve, 02 Août 2018

Fine example of a chain hotel that succeeds. Clean, large, comfortable room, decent free breakfast, helpful staff. The location is a 10-15 minute walk from town. But if your room doesn't have a rubber mat in the tub, ask for one. I slipped and almost got seriously injured. Front desk said it should have been there.

"Terrific Place to Stay in NOTL"
Sharon E, 31 Juillet 2018

Excellent accommodations! Stayed here for two nights while visiting NOTL. The employees were very friendly and helpful; room was spotless; and the breakfast offerings were great. Location was perfect - only a distance to town and the area's many wineries. A special thank you to Leta (sp?) who manages the kitchen/breakfast areas. She was awesome! She worked extremely hard to make sure the guests were taken care of during breakfast. Even during the hectic morning rush, she was always smiling and positive. The world needs more people like her! If you're looking for a clean, friendly, affordable hotel that's close to many things, this is definitely the place!

"Stained/Unclean towels"
Richel C, 30 Juillet 2018

For the price we paid for the room, I would have expected at least some standard cleanliness from Best Western especially when we have gone to other locations. The dispensers didn't work so I would recommend that guests bring their own shower gel, conditioner and shampoo unless this issue was particular to our room. Worse, there were stains I found on our supposedly clean towels (both the body and face towel). It still makes me cringe thinking I wiped one of the stained towels on my face. While I had no issue with the staff and they replaced our towels, the unclean towels were highly unsanitary and unacceptable. This left us feeling disgusted despite what was supposed to be a fun birthday weekend celebration.

"No complaints at all"
MagTin5, 25 Juillet 2018

Very clean, the person at the desk checking us in was very friendly and helpful. Room was big and clean. Free complimentary continental breakfast was good, just very basic. worth the money spent. I would stay there again.

"Return visit after 5 years"
shutcheson, 21 Juillet 2018

This is the second time we have used this hotel and quite alot has changed in those 5 years - although you still get your welcome cookies! The bedrooms have all been updated to a modern standard and are well appointed although the bathrooms within the rooms are quite old fashioned still. Ours had a cracked sink and water marks on the ceiling unfortunately. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly and helpful. Sports bar next door is good for simple Canadian food. Easy ten minute walk into town and all it has to offer. Still a bit highly priced for what you get but it is Niagara on The Lake!!

"Amazing staff and hotel"
Kim W, 12 Juillet 2018

Staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was lovely. We were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday and the hotel left wine and chocolates in our room with a lovely message. Would definitely recommend!

"Accommodated a last minute change of plans"
CanadianReesh, 12 Juillet 2018

I originally had 2 nights booked. Due to a last minute change of plans when I arrived I requested at the front desk if we could cancel our second night. The very nice woman at the desk looked into our reservation and allowed us to make the change. We were very thankful since we had booked through a third party site (and not directly with the hotel) and we would have burned for a night. I can't thank them enough for being understanding and helpful.

"Quaint Quality. We loved it. Would stay again. "
gruffandsurly, 03 Juillet 2018

The four of us are on a road trip from Winnipeg to Montreal (mom, dad and 2 kids) and stayed here at the Colonel Butler in Niagara-on-the-Lake for 3 nights. Cost was about $220 per night, which is very good for anything halfway decent in the Niagara-on-The-Lake. It's close to the main historical and shopping districts (not walking distance but close - 4 or 5 minute drive) and its also close to many local wineries. The guy at the desk (Kyle) was a local guy and he had tons of excellent advice for us, which was really helpful. For example he suggested that if we wanted to see both Niagra Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, we should get to Niagra Falls early in the morning, do what we want until around lunch time, then head back to town for lunch and afternoon tours. Boy was he right. The food is twice the quality for half the price in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The room was super clean, and although the hotel is old, it is well maintained. The continental breakfast is fair enough (waffles, cereal and dry goods) but they also have a partnership with the ‘Butler Grill and Bar' next door, who provides a very good restaurant breakfast to hotel guests for $7.50 per person, which includes beverages and taxes. The rooms are small, but not too small - we fit four quite comfortably. There are nicer places in this town, but not for this price you pay at Colonel Butler. And unless you love the tourist trap feel and hustle/bustle of Niagara Falls, you should really consider staying in Niagara-on-the-Lake, it's a beautiful town and so very welcoming!

"A regular favourite"
Michael S, 30 Juin 2018

We had not realized that it was four years since our last visit and are very pleased to say that the standard has been maintained. The rooms are comfortable, parking is free and convenient and if you like waffles they are part of your breakfast. We ate like royalty and did some great shopping. Our highlight was the Mythos Trilogy at the Festival Theatre by Stephen Fry - what a treat! This little town is a gem and worth a visit any time. The town is spotless and welcoming.

"Quiet and Convenient"
phil52_10, 06 Juin 2018

The hotel is clean and well looked after. Check-in was quick, simple and efficient. The suite was clean, spacious and had a fire as well as air-con along with the nomal accessories. Breakfast was good and pleniful but with no hot plates. It is a two minute drive from the main street and a very picturesque town and twenty minute drive from the falls, which can take all day if you view all the sights along the parkway. The only reason we did not give an excellent is that housekeeping was hit and miss. There is a small bar and restaurant next door which is very convenient. We would certainly stay here again without hesitation.

"Great location"
AnneH4, 28 Mai 2018

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Enjoyed relaxing at the restaurant next door. The room was large with 2 double beds. Breakfast was pretty good (not fancy). We used Aeroplan points to book this and it worked well.

"Reno guests"
Stephanie M, 21 Mai 2018

Great hotel. Great location. Great room, staff and breakfast. Would definitely stay again on the ground floor as there is no elevator. Check in was pefect, as was check out. Staff were very helpful with any questions. Niagara on the Lake is a wonderful, quaint community. Much nicer place to stay instead of Niagara Falls and a great location to explore the peninsula and the wineries.

"Great hotel"
Gavin D, 20 Mai 2018

Lovely hotel in an amazing town. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Would recommend to anyone travelling to the area. A 20 min drive from the falls but a picturesque drive, with many places to stop off and view the stunning scenery and houses

"A winner"
Jmagina, 18 Mai 2018

We have found Best Western properties to be hit or miss, but The Colonel Butler is a huge win. The Inn has a fantastic location within walking distance of the lake and the charming shops and restaurants downtown. The facility is beautifully maintained, the continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful and most importantly the staff was very welcoming and helpful with directions, suggestions etc. We look forward to returning next year for a longer stay.

"Summer 2018"
_thewillherd, 17 Mai 2018

It was an amazing room and lots of room in the sitting area. Right next door was a fantastic pub with super friendly staff. The complimentary breakfast was amazing, coffee was fresh, and we were able to sit on the deck while waiting for our wine tour. Front desk was super helpful with Winery suggestions.

"May 5 weekend"
pjesso12, 07 Mai 2018

We stayed one night at the Best Western. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It's a great location to the shops and wineries. The room was very clean (loved the Keurig coffee in the rooms). I would recommend you book with Best Western.

"A hidden gem"
nuclam, 30 Avril 2018

My wife and I recently stayed in this hotel before a day of wine tasting by bike. I had never noticed this property driving into NOTL as it is on a side street to the west as you drive the main road into town. It's a small Best Western hotel, nothing fancy with a basic continental breakfast. The room we had was outfitted with a comfortable king bed and to our surprise a small seating area with a chair and love seat. The bathroom was clean, but in need of an update. Overall the hotel was neat, clean and well looked after. You can stay in much fancier places just a few blocks away, not sure why you would spend the money, save that for show tickets and dinner.

"Stop Over and Tour"
Patricia R, 29 Avril 2018

On our way back from a wedding in Columbus Ohio we booked a 2 day stay at the Best Western to allow us to finish up our trip with a tour. The hotel provided us with a comfortable room. Being near the back door it was a little noisy but not to the extent of being annoying. It had a restaurant/sports bar close beside it for meals other than breakfast which was great. Our room was comfortable and the shower had great pressure. Breakfast was included which was eggs, toast, muffins, porridge, waffles and juices, coffee and tea. We found the eggs weren't very warm and not enough for everyone coming in. Breakfast is supposed to be served until 10:00 but came in at 9:20 and got the little bit of eggs left and others coming in after didn't get any so feel they really need to keep things replenished until 10:00 or close to it. Staff on the desk were pleasant and helpful. Economical and met our needs.

"Best Western Colonel Butler Inn - Niagara-on-the-Lake Canada"
Debbie A, 28 Avril 2018

Great location in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Recently renovated rooms and breakfast room. Bed is very comfortable! Very quiet at night for a good nights sleep! Friendly and helpful staff. When checking in, ask about getting some tickets for wine tastings at selected wineries. Sports Bar is attached and offers a variety of things to eat. Great place to stay!

"Courteous staff"
savvysailormurr, 23 Avril 2018

The newly renovated Colonel Butler is an unheralded gem in decadent Niagara-on-the-Lake. If on the 2nd floor the rooms are extra quiet, well insulated, windows can open, yet close to stairways leading to the first floor and breakfast nook. The reception and breakfast staff are top drawer, clean as a whip. And, location, location, location.

"Comfortable and quiet."
spoonman_1, 17 Avril 2018

Our stay was in March 2018. The hotel was very comfortable, clean and quiet. You are in walking distance to the main shopping area. There are also 2 bicycle rental companies withing a 1-2 minute walk from the hotel. Highly recommend for a convenient and affordable stay!

"Best Western Colonel Butler Inn stay during A Taste of Niagara on the Lake"
tchegus, 09 Avril 2018

Great hotel location and we loved the newly updated hotel rooms and the changes made to the already good breakfast experience. The staff at Reception, cleaning and breakfast area are very friendly and wanting to make your stay great and rewarding. We have stayed here annually during the Taste of Niagara on the Lake and the staff is very accommodating helping us with vouchers to attend wineries in the area.

"Trip to take a break from the city."
Rick J, 26 Mars 2018

We stayed here before and liked. A nice break from the BW in St Cath. It's ok. It tired of staying there. This one is nice but not for a long stay unless you do not mind the right room. Recently renovated rooms too and ours was renovated and nice. We will come back here again as we like the restaurants close by. Not far from the Main Street in NotL.

"Friendly clean and convenient"
3boygrandma, 18 Mars 2018

We originally booked at the Colonel Butler Inn because we were planning to take our dog with us, and were well received. We were happily impressed by the friendly greeting on arrival, the clean room that awaited us, the lovely person supporting people in the do-it-yourself breakfast room (waffle machine too), and the check out. The beds were comfortable, with nice linens. The Inn is on 2 levels, so if you have trouble with stairs, I suggest asking for a main floor room.

"Great "
Katie A, 16 Mars 2018

Great stay for the night of a wedding!!! Great location easy to get to!!! Close to wedding and the rooms seemed updated and recently renovated!!! Small rooms but perfect for the town not to over powering!!!!

"Another Great Stay"
Maxine H, 13 Mars 2018

We had the pleasure of spending another few days at this great hotel. Friendly and professional staff. Enjoyed staying in the newly renovated room. Hotel is immaculate. Thank you to the staff for another great stay. Looking forward to another visit !

"Pleasant surprise!"
Bitten_byTravelBites, 12 Mars 2018

Have to say, I was a little skeptical with this booking. As I'm here for work, it was one of what seemed to be very few options for hotels in the area, but I am pleasantly surprised! I would say this isn't your typical Best Western (though it has been a number of years since I've stayed at a BW). The rooms have been recently renovated which is nice. The bathrooms are outdated, but very clean so that works for me. I haven't heard any noise so far (staying here currently). Service is great. Others have commented on how nice the lady in the breakfast room is, and she really is! ? She just wants to make sure you have everything you need - sweet woman. Note that this hotel doesn't have elevators - there are two short (8-10 steps I think) flights of stairs to the second floor, but guests could ask for rooms on the first floor. Only thing I would recommend is that they include some fruit in the breakfast - otherwise, selection is good and seems fresh. Would recommend!

"Good Location in NOTL"
xmasbaby25, 05 Mars 2018

Stayed one night in a Jr Suite complete with fireplace, jetted tub and king size bed. Room was large and very clean. Looks like it was recently updated. Bed and pillows were comfy and cozy. Shower head could use updating, not the good strong pressure and stream I like, but I find this in most hotels. Hotel was quiet, even despite the bachelorette party taking place! Was a quick 15-20 min walk to downtown Queen St. With Tim Hortons and a convenience store directly across the street Free breakfast in the morning was fine...decent selection of food and drink to choose from. Could have used fresh fruit perhaps. Would recommend and stay there again...

"Nice small hotel"
john s, 04 Mars 2018

Checked in to find a stagette party going on in rooms surrounding us. Front desk staff should have realized two seniors would not appreciate the noise. However, staff were quick to locate us to the second (top) floor and we enjoyed a comfortable, clean, quiet night. Free breakfast was good with lots of variety. There are no elevators so persons with mobility problems should ask for main floor room.

"Comfortable, quiet, calm"
kevinmilliken1, 08 Février 2018

Great place to stay, clean, newly renovated, with a good locals pub with great pizzas. Friendly staff. I have stayed 5 different times here and have always been very happy. Bathrooms a little small but rooms cozy and clean.

"Great value, great service"
F L, 16 Janvier 2018

Second stay here for us, this time in a junior suite. Nice to have the extra space and since it was January the fireplace added to our comfort. I believe they are updating this hotel as the breakfast room was really well done. Our suite had everything we needed to be comfortable. Close enough to enjoy NOTL without being on the main street. Parking right on the spot and enough restaurants in the immediate area. You can walk to downtown area.

"Perfect place to stay!"
Cindy H, 02 Janvier 2018

If you are coming to the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, this hotel is perfect. Great location, very clean and an awesome staff. Have stayed at this location a couple different times and this will be our "go-to" hotel whenever we are in the area.

"Comfortable, clean hotel & gluten free breakfast options"
Ivan F, 01 Janvier 2018

We stayed here en route to visit family elsewhere. Room was clean, quiet and a comfortable bed. The breakfast, while basic hotel breakfast, did offer gluten free breads etc. On request. This is great for us as gluten free is necessary, alergies, and not usually available with hotel breakfasts.

"Great place"
micheller872017, 30 Décembre 2017

Great place to stay. Only thing I would recommend is updating the look and feel of the hotel. For the price, I think a update is needed. Front desk staff are always amazing and rooms are always clean. Thanks for another great stay.

"Ok in the off season"
Blackryder-Toronto, 27 Décembre 2017

The Best Western Colonel Butler Inn was an Ok place to stay in NOTL. The room was comfy - the gas fireplace was nice. The breakfast suite needs a little help to become food allergy friendly. If gluten/dairy/lactose are issues for you, you might have to eat elsewhere as there is very little you could have. They have GF bread - but only one toaster which everyone uses. I did not see any diary alternatives.

"a comfortable, affordable hotel, in a good location"
odan, 24 Décembre 2017

The BW Colonel Butler motel looks attractive from the outside and is located a quiet location, a short distance from the central area of the town of Niagara on the Lake. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially for providing good advice for local sightseeing, winery visits, etc. The room we were in was spacious and comfortable - good value for a budget hotel. The reception desk also has some coupons for free visits to some of the well known local wineries. The included breakfast is OK, but limited to the usual bakery products. All in all, good value and we would definitely stay here again.

"Exceeded Expectations"
bobandnancy2017, 18 Décembre 2017

I recently attended a conference at Blue Mountain Resort and annually attend a conference at The Nottawasage Resort. These are excellent facilities however, my experience at your facility was STELLAR. Thank you for providing a facility that in my opinion exceeded my experiences at other locations. We will definitely return.

"So welcoming "
Pamela R, 17 Décembre 2017

We love this place! A note and a gift to welcome us. Super friendly staff. The rooms are clean and the beds super comfy. We really enjoy the breakfast. The breakfast has everything you could need including a delightful assortment of tea and water that is actually hot! We come back year after year

"Stayed 2 nights. Very clean. Adequate breakfast included. Fantastic staff"
tissamiam, 13 Décembre 2017

Room was immaculate!! Breakfast was self serve and as expected at mid ranged accommodation. Staff - The English lady who checked us in was wonderful. Took care of everything, helped us to organise our 2 days with local knowledge etc and also helped us when our Canadian relatives came to stay at the hotel also. Highly recommended!! And its 4 blocks from the main centre too so in a great spot.

" Christmas Town Tour"
Mary B, 10 Décembre 2017

We stayed here while visiting Niagara on the Lake to take in the sights and sounds of Christmas. Hotel staff were warm and welcoming, referred us to restaurants, and local highlights. Hotel is close to town, accommodation, reception, breakfast room very clean. Great nights sleep. Definitely will be back.

"Fun time"
L4066FJsylvias, 08 Décembre 2017

Great area to relax and enjoy a vacation, small enough to have peace and quiet and close to Niagara to site see and tour the many wineries in the area. Niagara on the Lake is a beautiful area with many shops, restaurants, something for everyone.

"hotel review"
829tanyam, 04 Décembre 2017

Wonderful hotel within a 10 min walk of shops and restaurants. Lovely friendly staff, clean and bright. ample parking. A lovely bar\\restaurant called the Sandtrap is a few mins walk and has good food and great atmosphere.

"Very comfortable"
Christopher W, 03 Décembre 2017

VERY friendly and professional staff. Room spotless and nice amenities. Actual glass glass and pitcher. Decent sized soap, not those one use things most places offer. Great casual restaurant right across the street. Walking distance to downtown.

"Well located, great staff, will stay hete again"
Barb2427, 02 Décembre 2017

We were at Niagara On the Lake for the Christmas Homes tour and thn the evening Candlelight Stroll. The hotel is about 5 blocks from the Main Street in historic downtown so was an easy walk to the evening stroll. That saved having to find a parking place. It's proximity makes it convenient for anyone wanting to visit that scenic area. The hotel itself was clean, quiet, very comfortable bed, the staff super friendly and helpful. So much so that we booked a room for next year already. I left a vial of eyedrops behind and they contacted us by phone and email to alert us and ask what we'd like them to do. I cant say enough about how gracious and friendly everyone was.

"Quaint, quiet, and convenient little Inn to stay in right in the middle of Wine Country."
Tracy P, 28 Novembre 2017

Stayed here on the weekend of November 24-25 as an overnight stop for our wine tasting weekend. There were 3 of us in our room. 2 double beds, we managed. The beds were extremely comfortable. Staff that greeted us were very helpful and welcoming. There is a Tim's right across the street. What was very convenient was that we were within walking distance of downtown Niagara-On-The-Lake. Seems a bit of a distance, but really it took us appx. 15 min to walk down. Our only complaint was that we came in prior to midnight on a Friday. Were chatting and getting ready for bed when a knock was on our door saying we were being loud. We said ok and that we were getting into bed (true). We were however offended that we hadn't been in the hotel for more then 5 minutes. Just enough to get up stairs and take shoes off. One of our party was in the washroom. Not sure how us talking was too late. It wasn't after midnight yet. Put a damper on the end of our evening. We did not stay for the morning breakfast only because we had other plans, but it looked like there were many choices and lots of people in enjoying it.

"A pleasant interlude"
Jeanne R, 28 Novembre 2017

The Colonel Butler Hotel in Niagara on the Lake is located conveniently to the center of activities. The hotel staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and attractive. Breakfast is available. The hotel rates are reasonable and they accept AAA and AARP discounts. We stay there every year after having stayed at other hotels and find this location to be our favorite.

"Great modern hotel in a historic style building"
learningtofly2014, 20 Novembre 2017

This hotel is just off the main road into town and not far from the historic downtown and riverfront area. Had a great room with modern furnishings and fixtures and plenty of space. The only catch was that it could have used a bit more lighting.

"Expensive but simple and easy"
Allie W, 17 Novembre 2017

The price was expensive considering as a couple we were given a room with two double beds, however as far as i know, every room has two doubles. It would have been nice to have a larger bed to share. Location was great. Staff was friendly. Very basic but comfortable and clean. Overall, it was a fine experience. We were in town for a wedding at the Pillar and Post. The price at $200+ for the night seemed steep considering how basic everything was.

"A Night on the town"

Very close to where the action is. Can drive here in 3-4 minutes, maybe less. Great breakfast. Bar & Grill right next store. Room was clean, staff very friendly Location a plus.Bed was comfortable and clean. Everything you need at a great price. Parking free.

"Really enjoyable stay"
826carmelm, 12 Novembre 2017

Excellent service, staff very helpful and friendly and fabulous value for money. Gave us helpful advice and good tourist information. We really enjoyed our short stay and would certainly recommend it.

"Good Smaller Inn"
carriesunshine, 12 Novembre 2017

We stayed here overnight after visiting some wineries. Basic but clean accommodations, helpful and friendly staff. We found the breakfast and breakfast area to be lovely actually for the size of the hotel. My husband liked the fresh baked cookies upon arrival and the fresh baked muffins in the morning were really delicious! Very close to everything in the area.

"Very basic hotel and amenities"
gafrancomd, 11 Novembre 2017

We spent the night in BW Colonel Butler Inn after spending the day at Niagara Falls. We didn't want to stay in the falls area with all the casinos. The room is pretty basic. Bed, linen and towels are okay. Be warned, though, that they do not have an elevator. We had to carry our luggage to the second floor. The breakfast was limited. Location is pretty good, with the main shops a pleasant walk away. There is a Tim Horton's branch across the street for quick meals.

"Couln't ask for better service, value!"
Cynthia K, 10 Novembre 2017

Womens weekend away in wine country. Clean, comfortable, inexpensive, good continental breakfast. Some of the friendliest, most helpful staff we have ever had. A little further from main street than we expected but walkable. Did not have a budget chain feel. Would definitely stay here again.

"Nice simple place to stay at"
Rick J, 08 Novembre 2017

We usually stay at BW hotels and this is one of the nicer one. No elevator. Room is small but for two days that's ok. Only we had to cut ours one day due to illness and they let us cancel the second night. We like this place as it is cheaper than the main street and will be back. Three good restaurants near by so that is great. Breakfast at Red Rooster is good. Supper at Sandtrap two blocks away was good. I would recommend Staying here! I find their duvets so hot so we asked for blankets and removed the duvets.

"Cozy, friendly, welcoming hotel in great location."
milesfournier, 07 Novembre 2017

Warmly welcomed by Anna at reception, nice room with a good breakfast. Great value in a beautiful town. Easy walking distance as well as bike rentals handy. Staff was friendly and a clean room with water purifier access.

"Rating should be Good - a good night sleep in a good value for money hotel"
Fantasavestheday, 06 Novembre 2017

We arrived in this very cute town in late afternoon and we ended up in this one by chance as it had a room for the 3 of us. The reception staff were friendly, the price reasonable and the room perfectly fine. Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom and overall to our satisfaction. The only minus was the noisy air con that were could not keep on if we wanted to get any sleep. Breakfast offer was better than anticipated and we really enjoyed making our own waffles to start the day.

"Great boutique hotel in wonderful town"
waynecs2017, 21 Octobre 2017

Niagara on the lake is wonderful small-town resort on Lake Ontario at mouth of Niagara River featuring historic homes and great food/shopping options together with easily accessible wine tours. The Butler Hotel is an excellent value and well located to take advantage of all the areas points of interest.

"small vintage charmer"
641joanv, 19 Octobre 2017

Perfectly located in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to access everything quickly and easily, this friendly home away from home is perfect for anyone who enjoys a peaceful atmosphere.

"Best Western Colonel Butler Inn Is Wonderful"
desolom, 18 Octobre 2017

We had a fantastically wonderful stay at the Colonel Butler Best Western in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The rooms were great and the staff was outstanding. We fully intend to stay there when next we go to the Shaw Festival.

"Too Expensive"
Fulltimer52, 16 Octobre 2017

to sum it up, a 100$ room anywhere else in North America for 300$/night in Niagara on the Lake. The room was fine but not worth 300$/night. Service was great and the location was a bit outside the downtown area. Hotel's in downtown Toronto are cheaper!

"Visit with old university friends and wives"
George S, 14 Octobre 2017

Smaller hotel with extremely friendly staff. Hotel was walking distance to restaurants and shopping in Niagara on the Lake. Rooms were nice and clean. The hotel is only 2 storey so all rooms are easy to get to. There is no elevator service to top floor so if you are handicapped you will want a ground floor room. We played at the Niagara on the Lake golf course (the oldest continuously operating course in north America) which was about a 5 minute drive from the hotel. There was a nice outdoor balcony at the end of the hall which we used with our friends to enjoy a wine in the evening before bed.

"It's a Best Western"
BillyBob66, 12 Octobre 2017

Beautiful on the outside, typical older small rooms on the inside. Probably the most friendly staff I have ever been around, even the breakfast servers were super friendly! Nice beds, clean rooms, great breakfast and the great staff are the pluses. Long walk into town and the small rooms are the minor negatives.

"Great trip with friends!"
Pat S, 10 Octobre 2017

Excellent location! Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Friendly and courteous staff. Quiet and clean rooms. Nice breakfast to start the day. Would recommend if looking for good hotel bargain.

"Very nice Best Western"
tgayne, 06 Octobre 2017

This hotel was fantastic the room where clean the staff was helpful with different things to do and see in the area and it was great value for the money. Breakfast was included. Use Best Western rewards to save extra money on your room.

"Great wee place"
tomalli68, 05 Octobre 2017

Stayed here for one night. Room was a good size. We personally found it too hot due to fire being on low and no way of switching it off. Couldn't sleep with aircon on as too noisy. Bed was comfortable. Hotel was lovely and quiet. Breakfast is available in a small breakfast room. Limited selection of food, lots of carb options. Also very limited seating area. Think we were unfortunate and went at the busiest time. The hotel is well situated to the main road, with a short walk to the main shopping area. Thanks goes out to Anna for keeping our cases whilst we had a wander around the shops (we arrived too early). Also gave us some.good options for dinner. Overall i would recommend this hotel.

"Wonderful small, handy and affordable"
John B, 04 Octobre 2017

Easy stroll to the wonderful downtown and theatres Amazing walk through beautiful neighbourhoods. Clean and nice rooms. All modern amenities. Even an exercise room which is well appointed. Breakfast more than adequate . What else do you need?

"Good basic hotel"
Dorothy H, 01 Octobre 2017

Room, hotel, breakfast, restaurant were good for a basic hotel. The location was good, about a 10 minute walk to downtown. The staff, however, was great, from the front desk to the attendant in the breakfast room.

"Nothing Special"
gastronaut_11, 28 Septembre 2017

When I booked this hotel, the picture shown depicted what looked like a colonial style mansion. Which in reality is not the case. A motel style set up, at quite a price ! Rooms are typical of any that can be found in any franchised motel. Good bed. Powerful shower. Reasonable amount of room and amenities. Typical air-conditioned unit. Nothing special. Easy parking. 15 minutes walk from town. It was clean and well presented. Good communication.

"Close to the falls, but quiet"
schumbt, 26 Septembre 2017

The niagara Falls are about a 15 min drive away. the village and the vineyards just around the corner. Quiet hotel. Breakfast is good, with a good variety of odd and drinks. The restaurant serves food till late, good for late drink.

"Excellent choice"
Kathleen O, 25 Septembre 2017

Great location for walking into town. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast with plenty of choices. Very accommodating of my friend with food allergy. . Bike hire nearby. Would definitely recommend.

"Yuk!!!"
A6927LMjohnm, 24 Septembre 2017

The carpeting was so filthy and stained plus the tv did't work! I can't believe they had the audacity to charge what they did for that room. Though they upgraded us the damage had been done. If I hadn't been so exhausted from traveling I would have walked out!

"Always a good experience"
dave-at-london, 23 Septembre 2017

I have stayed many times, and the high standards are always maintained. The missing factor was always a restaurant. The Sports Bar next door was not quite to my taste, and the newly purchased Little Red Rooster restaurant across the street is letting them down. I have eaten there quite often, and did so again. The food quality has deteriorated, as has the service, and the waitress who was determined to address me in endearing terms every time she spoke. The food I received was not the food I ordered, and the replacement was under-cooked. Hopefully management will do a number on this restaurant before my next visit.

"super staff, comfortable rooms"
Z7898OAsusanc, 15 Septembre 2017

We were glad we picked this hotel. Good location, nice rooms, friendly staff. Made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped into our rooms. The lady who served the breakfast room was so wonderful. Very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel when staying at Niagara on the Lake.

"Birthday get Away"
Virginia C, 13 Septembre 2017

Wonderful stay at a fabulous hotel. It's a great location being walking distance to down town. The hotel is clean and the room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The staff was helpful and very accommodating. I strongly recommend this hotel!

"Excellent Choice for Stay"
Dennis F, 11 Septembre 2017

Great location near (can walk to town) but quiet and away from the hustle of town. Personal service, friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and property, Excellent breakfast, can eat at outside tables on nice porch.

"Bike wine tour"
jodit846, 11 Septembre 2017

We stayed at this hotel as we had booked a bicycle wine tour (just across the street). This hotel is located away from the main strip, but is a 20 minute walk to the main strip. They offer breakfast, which has a good selection, but they only have a toaster & waffle maker for hot food options. It is across the street from Tim Horton's and a short walk to Subway & a few other restaurants. There is a front porch (both main floor & upper level), where you can sit and enjoy the scenery or a quick bite to eat, if you bring food back to the hotel to eat. Our room was comfortable and clean. Compared to the prices of hotels/B&B's in the area, this was the best value. I would stay here again in warm weather, as it's far enough away from the hustle & bustle, but close enough for a walk to town. It may be a bit of a chilly walk in winter months, but you can always drive to town and locate paid parking areas (it's probably 5 minutes to drive, maximum).

"Will definitely return"
lil-ninja, 09 Septembre 2017

This hotel is a great location if you don't want to be right in the action. It's a short distance drive to everything. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff went out of their way to help us. There was a little bit of construction on during the day but it did not continue at night The breakfast was included and there was great service. The lady at the waffle station was very helpful.

"Good value."
princessrenee82, 06 Septembre 2017

We stayed at the Colonel Butler Inn in August as part of a stay-cation week I had planned. The room we had was quite nice, though the carpet was in need of a good cleaning or a replacement. The bathroom had a heat lamp (to speed drying after a shower or bath) but ours was not functioning - the timer kept turning and so the lamp would stay on for 2-3 sec at most. The shower had a shower gel/shampoo/conditioner dispenser which we appreciated as it reduced the plastic waste of all of the mini bottles. There was a continental breakfast included - the offerings were pretty standard, but there were two beautiful balconies (one on each floor) with tables to eat. Wonderful! Parking was free, as was wi-fi, which we very much appreciated. All of the staff we dealt with were wonderful. One of the strange things we found though, was the ice machine was located in the basement with no signage or notes of its whereabouts (we had to inquire at the front desk as to its location). Overall, a great stay!

"Better than most Best westerns"
Robert S, 03 Septembre 2017

Wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff. Very clean rooms and surprisingly better than most Best Western hotels. The location was central to city center, restaurants and theatre. Very short drive to wineries and only 30 minutes to the falls. Better to stay there than at the falls at night. More relaxing better restaurants and not honky stinky and crowded.

"Good value, quaint hotel."
susantZ9999UF, 02 Septembre 2017

Lovely quaint hotel. I would stay here again if I brought my children because it's good value. (Otherwise when traveling with just my husband, I prefer to stay somewhere higher-end on the strip). This was a little far from the main drag, but had a lovely environment, nice reception area, clean rooms, and excellent enhanced continental breakfast including waffle maker! Leah runs a beautiful breakfast. Bathrooms were a little tired, but clean.

"Comfortable spot in a convenient location"
Ricardamundo, 31 Août 2017

We found the hotel staff to be pleasant at all times and the morning breakfast provided a varied menu of items which was above average. The hotel is located a few blocks from the downtown core but many points of interest and restaurants were within easy walking distance. It was particularly well located to get on the road for wine tours and golf.

"Dumpy Suite, Smelly Fireplace & Horrible Breakfast Options"
ARGOMAN, 31 Août 2017

Selected this hotel for our anniversary getaway based on TripAdvisor recommendations and photos of room...looked cute and was a reasonable price and location, but I usually do not stay at Best Western properties. Well, it started off well - clean property, nice front desk staff, but then the room. Let's say I found my Grandparents old furniture that they sold at a garage sale in the mid 90's. We could not use any of the sofa or chair as it looked dirty. Then I tried the fireplace and it smelled up the room so bad, we had to crank up the fan to ventilate. Now to the "enhanced" continental breakfast. Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, bag Oatmeal & hard boiled eggs are some of this enhanced breakfast. No creative thought went into this breakfast and they serve you in this room not big enough if a good number came down to eat. Oh ya, other stuff - a fridge that doesn't work well, no place for computers or charging, a drippy tub and possible mould at corner of tub. So I shared mist of this with "The Manager" and he gave me that "I'm listening to you - how can I make it better" thing when they cannot do anything. So I got my bill this morning by email...no I'm sorry your not happy, but thank you for your money. So off I go across the street to Tim Hortons for breakfast, pack my bags and continue our fun 37th anniversary trip. Got no love from this Best Western and will most likely not stay in one again. If you are coming to NOTL and looking for reasonable priced accommodations, check out the many B&B on TripAdvisor. Better than this place and you'll get a good breakfast too! Booked for October already at a cute one!

"Big Disappointment"
Yasser K, 30 Août 2017

Poor value for what we paid. No cart to transport luggage. Rooms are not clean and smell. Housekeeping don't care. Very noisy plumbing. No business centre or meeting rooms. No hot breakfast. No pool. Big disappointment. Never staying there again and perhaps never at any BW location.

"Staycation"
Sal B, 15 Août 2017

Small hotel located in the heart of Niagara on the lake. Within walking distance to many attractions. The only hotel in the area that allows pets. They even had a welcome gift for my dog....nice touch.

"Hotel Review"
joannecY5072MF, 14 Août 2017

This hotel is very good value for the money. It is very close to the centre of Niagara on the Lake. The hotel is in a very good location to many of the wineries and the attractions. The property and the rooms are very well maintained.

"Good location in a beautiful picturesque town"
Guðjón G, 14 Août 2017

Very nice place with super friendly staff. We were there to see the Niagara falls and this hotel was good in that purpose. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to explore that are. The guy at the front desk was super helpful.

"Clean and Convenient"
Charles M, 08 Août 2017

The hotel is acceptable, and recommended for those that want a clean room with parking, and close proximity to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake. The breakfast was "Continental": Cereal and Waffles. The room was clean, with a flat screen tv, mini fridge, and coffee maker. Room temperature can be adjusted. The Staff was pleasant.

"Quaint small inn"
kathy L, 08 Août 2017

This is a small inn with only two floors. The rooms were nice, clean, a bit smaller than a Hampton Inn. It was conveniently located to the town, a five minute drive. The restaurant attached to the inn had a nice menu and we enjoyed the food. The pizza was delicious! There was a continental breakfast every morning...homemade muffins, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit. The people who worked there were very helpful and friendly! There is not an elevator, so if stairs are a problem, be sure to ask for the first floor. There was a balcony/porch on the second level with a few tables and we sat outside one evening and it was delightful. A beautiful little town and about 30 minutes from Niagara Falls.

"Yes, I'll stay here again"
Bajeal, 08 Août 2017

This is a gem of a hotel. It's a bit off the main street, but a nice walk (1.4km, .86 miles) to get to the center of things on Picton St./Queen St.. If you would rather rent a bike, there is bike rental around the corner, 1 minute away! Parking is free and breakfast is included. Room was clean, spacious, well-appointed, and beds were comfortable. The staff is friendly and gave us lots of helpful information when we asked. Lida in the breakfast room even brought fresh plums from her own tree to add to the delicious breakfast buffet (waffles, anyone? maybe you prefer fresh-baked blueberry muffins? ). Derek the manager was very helpful and Penny the night desk clerk gave us freshly baked cookies when we checked in. There is also a restaurant on site for dinner, but we didn't eat there....there is a nice little place across the street that serves meals as well -- lunches were great there. I'll definitely be staying here again, we got great service and great value for the price! I have stayed at the hotel right in the center of town for much more $$$, but BW Colonel Butler Inn rooms are just as nice. Downtown you are paying for location.

"nice place to stay"
893brittac, 06 Août 2017

If you are looking for a smaller hotel to stay in with no frills, The Colonel Butler Inn is a good choice. 4 blocks from downtown Niagara on the lake, it is off the main drag and near main road to get to attractions easily. No pool but a small fitness centre. The breakfast was continental but good. Very friendly staff and helpful with planning trips out to vineyards etc.. Nothing fancy but a good place to stay!

"Great place in NOTL"
JimMcC1944, 05 Août 2017

Nice property with good rooms and easy parking and not far -long walk or short drive - from shows. Breakfast was good as was my stay. Happy to recommend this hotel vs others in area for value ! Easy to find and worth the extra walk.

"Colonel Butler Best Western"
312fredp, 01 Août 2017

The hotel overall was acceptable. The breakfasts were adequate in selection and good in quality. The kitchen personnel went out of their way to satisfy our breakfast appetites. The rooms were clean but The beds were too soft.

"very pleased"
doug g, 31 Juillet 2017

Hotel is in a great location. The room was great, lots of room and very comfy. It was in walking distance to downtown. It was great going through the neigbourhoods of NOTL. It is also a 30 minute woalk to the Pillar Winery

"Wonderful hotel with excelent staff and nice location."
896alfredg, 28 Juillet 2017

We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent and the hotel is very clean and the rooms very nice.We would definitely stay here again.

"Great service, older property "
Polkadot72, 21 Juillet 2017

This is an older property with some updates. It is well maintained. Beds are great and there is a small fridge in the cabinet. The wifi is good and there are many choices for breakfast (mostly carbs). The breakfast room is small and not adequate for the amount of rooms that there are so we sat outside on the porch. The management is wonderful and so are the employees. There is about a 20 minute walk to the busy tourist area. The restaurant/bar next door is a great find. Nice quiet, safe neighborhood. Would stay here again.

"Another Wonderful Stay"
Maxine H, 19 Juillet 2017

Always a pleasure to stay at this hotel. Great value for your money. Walking distance to the main street. Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel clean with newly upgraded flooring. Hotel adjacent to a restaurant with great pizza and wings. Looking forward to a return visit.

"Lovely stay at the Colonel Butler"
74lorif, 18 Juillet 2017

Wonderful inn-style intimate hotel. Warm, welcoming friendly staff; superb room and service. Good location within easy walking distance of historical district of Niagara-on-the Lake. Very good complimentary breakfast and adjacent restaurant Butlers quite good as well

"Back again. And it's still great. "
Mrscye, 14 Juillet 2017

It's been a year and we're back to NOTL. The BW is still perfect. Lovely room. People are helpful. Best breakfast at any chain I've been too. You won't go hungry. The location is perfect too. Definitely a place to stay when here.

"Excellent hotel, excellent location"
cyclewithme1990, 13 Juillet 2017

We stayed at the Colonel Butler inn for 2 nights in the middle of July, The hotel was faultless. Prior to arrival we were surprised by a very friendly email from the staff , advising us of the facilities , lack of lift ( asking to advice if we wanted a ground floor room) and giving us advice on the local area and offering help with tour bookings. On arrivial we were greeted by Penny, who was very friendly and welcoming. Check-in was quick and hassle free. As a bonus we were given welcome cookies! We stayed in room 214 with two large queen beds, tv, tea and coffee facilities, mini fridge, toilettes and air con. The room and bathroom were spacious, very clean and well equipped. We took advantage of breakfast on both days. We advise going to breakfast early as like any hotel during peak times can get a bit crowded. Breakfast was tasty with a range of food and drinks. Ranging from waffles, cereal, bagels and yogurt with tea, coffee and juices; there was a friendly member of staff in the kitchen who showed us how to use the waffle maker and recommended various Canadian inspired items. We chose this partocular hotel due to its close proximity to Niagara Falls, but being in the quiet, quaint, Niagara on the lake. A 30 minute scenic drive down Niagara parkway and we were at the falls, those feeling adventurous could even cycle along the route! We visited a grocery store round the corner a couple of times for snacks and drinks and we had a walk along the lake front, unfortunately it was raining heavily the day we decided to go for a walk so it was cut short, but these things happen! Overall the hotel was wonderful; the location, the staff, the room, the facilities. Highly recommended and if we ever visit the Niagara region again we wouldn't look anywhere else.

"Good value"
Wine-Travel-Love, 10 Juillet 2017

If you just want to spend a night or two, this is a great place to explore the Niagara region. Not too far from the main attractions in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Rooms are comfortable, ours even had a fire place with a sofa which we enjoyed. Our room was not ready until late in the afternoon, but the staff was friendly so it didn't bother us. Great breakfast as well.

"A Quaint Inn in the Heart of Wine Country."
Amy B, 08 Juillet 2017

This was a lovely stay. The hotel is lovely. Upon arrival the staff is kind and very helpful. The rooms are quaint and lovely. I will definitely recommend this hotel to others. I will be back again. The fresh baked cookies were a nice touch!

"Excellent experience"
H368IZphilipr, 05 Juillet 2017

Highly recommend this facility and it's location to all amenities. I will visit again. The staff and food were excellent especially your employee Penny she made this a joy to deal with Best Western please consider her for a commendation

"Do not stay here if you are traveling with a pet"
juliesU3334JQ, 04 Juillet 2017

Basic hotel that. was clean and comfortable but do not explain that they only have one pet friendly room. Very disruptive to find this out for our long weekend stay. Staff professional and friendly. verandas nice out front.

"Very nice staying"
Itala C, 03 Juillet 2017

Very nice staying and stuff very friendly as well! The air conditioning a little noisy so we had to turn it off. Bed was very comfortable! Breakfast was ok but enough to start the day! Stuff was very helpyas well when we ask for directions, taxi and information!

"Two Day visit in June 2017"
Jan T, 02 Juillet 2017

Stayed at Colonel Butler Inn last weekend. It was nice and I would recommend. Ample parking and 20 min. walking distance to main shopping/eating street. Very clean and staff helpful. Would def recommend. Only two negatives: the back door is kept unlocked so anyone can walk in hotel. They told us it was locked at night but it was not. Safety concern for us. Also, we ate a pizza and wings at the Butler Grill...terrible food. Would not recommend at all. There were four of us in our group.

"basic motel"
spinman15, 30 Juin 2017

Very basic motel. Room was nice enough and clean. Frig. & coffee but no micro wave in the rm. Welcome cookies at check in was nice as was the souvenir bottle of maple syrup commemorating Canada's 150th b-day. Staff was friendly. Location is about 1 mi. from the tourist district shops. Too far for us to walk & parking downtown is a chore. Breakfast was typical motel stuff (nothing special, a little weak) in a pretty small rm.

"NOTL"
pauldC9826RL, 25 Juin 2017

We've been enjoying the Colonel Butler and its amenities for 13 years in a row now during our annual 3 day visit to Niagara On The Lake, Ontario. Looking forward to next year. The location is great relative to old town, the wineries, and historical locations. The staff has always treated us well and the included breakfast is nice. We also enjoy the balcony areas.

"Great location"
Linda M, 23 Juin 2017

Centrally located to all amenities . Colonial style looking Inn from exterior . Staff were very kind , knowledgeable & helpful. Rooms were clean but could use a little updating , but for the amount if time we spent in the room it was fine !!!

"A good nights sleep"
gwygant, 20 Juin 2017

Had a great nights sleep. No noise, excellent air quality, comfortable bed, perfect humidity, drapes thick enough to block outside lighting. Just Perfect. Nice little restaurant next door. I was running the Niagara Ultramarathon the following day and this was very convienent. Six blocks from packet pickup the evening prior. Left for the race 20 minutes before start and it only took me 10 minutes to get to the starting line.

"Very nice hotel"
Nigel C, 18 Juin 2017

We stayed at the Colonel Butler while attending the Shaw Festival. We found it completely satisfactory and would go there again. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good, the location was quiet. It's a longish walk to the Festival productions, but that's OK with us.

"Noisy doors that slam all day and night"
Westmontgal, 17 Juin 2017

THIS IS MY FIRST ZERO REVIEW This hotel is to be avoided at all costs. Unless you come here just to use the shower. Although the property is clean and the beds comfortable and the breakfast is good value, the doors of the rooms are slamming when they shut and the noise is nerve wracking. When I closed the door, gently trying to prevent making any noise, I saw that it was not impossible to prevent the doors from slamming if you made the effort to gently close it but the doors are defective as they have a very strong mechanism that guarantees that they close for security. So as of 6:30 a.m. when breakfast begins at 7 you will hear every door slam so loudly that you will get a migraine. I will never stay her again. If you want a bed and breakfast deal where you leave at 7 then this is for you. The management is aware of the problem and apologized but nothing was done. As well it has only one pet friendly room so it is misleading if you think a pet friendly hotel is more than just one room which we found out was already booked. Someone had to stay home so the family wedding was a mess for me. The hotels are all booked so this is it for the weekend, slamming doors all day and night. STAY AWAY.

"Wonderful place"
Robert F, 17 Juin 2017

This is a wonderful place with a friendly, attentive and helpful staff. The front desk folks were quick to offer suggestions about places to visit and things to do in the area, and even asked us where we went that day as we returned to our rooms.

"My Favorite"
Paul G S, 09 Juin 2017

When staying at Niagara on the Lake, my favorite hotel is the BW Colonel Butler Inn. The location is convenient and in a quiet setting; the staff is always friendly and most helpful and the Continental breakfast included is amazing! My room was spacious, clean and so comfortable....especially the king sized bed! This is just a lovely hotel which I will continue to use whenever I am in that area.

"Girls weekend"
TremblayandChappell, 05 Juin 2017

This two storey hotel is very quaint. Staff was very helpful and very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was such a pleasure to be able to sit on the porch and eat breakfast in the morning and watch the sun set in the evening.

"Niagara on the Lake hotel"
Tinkerbell1701, 04 Juin 2017

Lovely hotel in good position. Walking distance into town for plenty of restaurants, park, lake, shops. Tim Hortons and a family restaurant directly opposite. Bathrooms at hotel would benefit from a make-over and modernisation but very clean and comfortable room of a good size. Staff polite. No cooked breakfast available and all "help yourself" with sometimes no staff to assist with machines (waffle maker!) but I think there are plans for renovations so this may improve. Adequate amount and quality of cold breakfast available.

"Cozy is all I asked for - Cozy is what I got"
Jackie M, 03 Juin 2017

My sister and I stayed one night at the Best Western in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a winter wedding which was taking place about 5 minutes away. The checking in staff, was lovely. Nice lady - very cordial. She was even able to find some sort of points I signed up for ages ago when I stayed at a Best Western AGES ago. I was really impressed with her. She was wondering what was happening this weekend and I told her a Toronto couple was getting married in Niagara and she finally understood why they were so busy for that weekend! We went to our room and I asked for an early check in so it was ready by the time we got there for around 12:30pm, if I recall correctly. We met some lovely people in the lobby who were also going to the wedding and we asked how they were getting there because we could share a cab. Apparently, there's a cab service in NOTL (sorry, I gotta shorten Niagara-on-the-Lake from this point on), who was doing pick ups and drop offs from our hotel to the venue because there were so many of us. It was just a 15-20 minute car ride, there and back, so we did not have to wait long. It was really nice for the hotel and taxi services to arrange this for the guests. The bride and groom was impressed with this too! The room was nice, clean, lots of towels, love the large mirrors, easy to control the temperature system. That's all I asked for (see, this is in the title so everything is now full circle). So after a night of partying, it was nice to retreat back to the room. We had a room on my main floor but you would have never known or maybe I was too tired to notice anything. Nighttime was quiet but the morning was a bit of a different story. Because we were about a door or two away from the kitchen, there was a bit of noise but it wasn't excessive. You'd overhear a muffled conversation for about half a second and it would pass. With this said, being in a room right across from the kitchen was AMAZING. I was so hungry and worn out that I didn't want to think about where I could find the food. Bless your heart for giving us this room, BW. The food was decent. Typical cereal, yogurt, small waffle station, juice, muffins, apples, coffee -- all decent. It was all complementary which I really do appreciate because I don't like giving someone money for food when I'm hangry. Would I return? Yes. When I travel, I just want things to be easy for me. I want a hotel I can find, I want to be warm, I want a parking space for my car, and I want coffee and muffins before I go. Thanks again!

"Great Place"
172ashleighc, 29 Mai 2017

Employees made stay a great experience. Friendliest people. Definitely will go back. Very close to shopping. 5 minute BEAUTIFUL walk to old town. Breakfast room was being renovated which wasn't even a problem but they gave us free vouchers for breakfast across street. Awesome all around. Def suggest this place

"best Western Colonel Butler Inn"
Peter M, 26 Mai 2017

Comfortable Hotel with excellent staff. Walkable to all areas of town in 15 - 25 minutes. Quiet rooms with access to several outside covered patios. On Bicycle route and low traffic area. This was our second visit and service continues to stand out as a positive.

"Great place to stay."
Trish1302, 25 Mai 2017

Staff very friendly, excellent quality towels , free parking, breakfast room being renovated, had great breakfast supplied across the road at the Red Rooster, anything on the menu paid for by hotel. Great choice.

""Lovely small inn atmosphere""
Julissa2017, 23 Mai 2017

Wonderful staff; very friendly and accommodating. Excellent enhanced continental breakfast and close to downtown theatres and shopping. Also close to restaurants without driving. Will stay there again. Rooms were spacious and well appointed.

"Wine tour visit"
Lesly E, 21 Mai 2017

:Wonderful staff!! We took the red eye from Vancouver to Toronto and arrived at the hotel at 9:30am. The staff went out or their way to get us checked into our room so I could get some sleep (I don't sleep well on planes). We were checked in and napping before 11am. They also upgraded our room to a king suite at no charge. The bed was really comfortable and the room clean and well appointed.

"Wonderful place to stay"

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.Upto arrival their parking lot was being paved, the staff helped with suitcases and luggage. Their breakfast was wonderful, a good selection of food and drink. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable

Wonderful people! They met all our needs and gave us some great coupons for the wineries! We will definitely be going back :) Close to everything. Can walk to most places but not if you have trouble walking.

"Friendly smaller hotel"
Catwoman5159, 14 Mai 2017

We were very pleased with our 2 night stay at this hotel. It is small (2 stories), staff are very friendly, beds are comfortable, and the hotel is situated on a side street so it is quiet. Easy walk through lovely treed streets to the main shopping area, lots of restaurant choices too. The hotel has a nice complimentary breakfast. There is no elevator, so guests have to be comfortable going up a couple of flights of stairs if they are staying on the second floor.

"Small hotel charm and friendliness"
planthealth2017, 03 Mai 2017

Price was right and the pleasant attitudes of all staff were much appreciated. We had no problems or complaints, whatsoever. It would have been nice to find a corner of the property to have a cigar with the great wines from the region, but...

"A nice pleasant stay with an excellent front desk."
john P, 01 Mai 2017

Stayed here for three days, two of which it rained. Beds good, showers not bad, and rooms decent sized. Really helpful, friendly front desk staff. Breakfast was similar to a Days Inn. Could have been better, as they have a full kitchen next to the breakfast space, Would really have like cooked to order eggs, sausage, etc. Alas. A little more room on the porch to spread out would be nice too. Would not need much to turn this into a five star place,.

"Excellent Visit"
Judy700, 29 Avril 2017

Butler Inn is a favourite for my group of friends who visit the Shaw festival each year. The rooms are so comfortable and the amenities make our stay a lot of fun. Thanks to a very helpful staff. The location is perfect.

"Good value"
P2511HWjoyces, 29 Avril 2017

Exceptionally friendly staff. Clean rooms. Great location. I would return to this hotel if only for the outstanding care offered by the staff. It's a little further walk to the main town centre but easily accessible by car or by foot. While breakfast was included we chose to go directly across the street to where we had a great breakfast.

"Nice place to stay"
madonnac996, 19 Avril 2017

This hotel was very nice. We had no problems while there. The location is great and friendly service. One thing I think they could do is to put up a rack for the brochures from the local vendors. I would recommend this location.

"Simply wonderful "
Paul M, 19 Avril 2017

Trip Advisor Review for: Colonel Butler Inn, Niagara-on-the-Lake April 17-19, 2017 I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The check in was effortless and friendly. Even greeted with cookies. This small Best Western ( two stories) is clean, pretty and quiet. The room I had was two double beds. The room was well appointed, nicely decorated and furnished. Furnishing was with light oak and maple, unlike some hotels which have heavy dark furnishings. The beds, very comfortable - I am a light sleeper but slept nine hours my first night. Other features which I enjoyed and should be standard in nice hotels include: Keurig coffee machine in the room. Real coffee mugs and real glasses - not paper and plastic. A mini fridge that was cool, rather than luke warm like other hotels. Lots of towels and supplies in the bathroom. The Wifi was easy to access and worked well. Full length lighted dressing mirror. Handy when dressing in a suit. Free parking. A wonderful complimentary continental breakfast which included actual fresh fruit, choices of cereals, breads, bagels, muffins, plus hard boiled eggs. Waffles were available too. To make my day, they even had Earl Grey tea! Any place that has Earl Grey tea has to be good! The Colonel Butler Inn is so convenient to historic Niagara-on-the-Lake. I pretty well walked everywhere in a few minutes. For lunch and dinner there are two restaurants within yards of the hotel, one is Butler's which is next door and the other is a lovely place, across the street, the Little Red Rooster. Also there is a Subway and a Tim Hortons very close by. The town is billed as "the prettiest town in Canada," and I would agree. So if you are going to visit the area, I would very, very highly recommend the Colonel Butler Inn. I have been here twice and not been dissatisfied in any way. For the most part, I like and trust Best Western, having stayed in many of them in Canada, the USA and even some in Europe. Only one bad Best Western experience, but that place (which shall remain unnamed) is now closed. Anyway, the Colonel Butler Inn puts the "Best" into Best Western. I could not have asked for a nicer little Easter vacation. Thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff.

"Perfect overall"
renaelyndall, 18 Avril 2017

This place was amazing. Staff were lovely and super helpful. The lady at the front desk was super helpful with everything, the lady at breakfast was lovely and the hotel manager was amazing. The rooms were everything you needed, comfortable and had good bathrooms! Stayed for a short time for a wedding and everyone was more then helpful and even took us to the wedding as the taxi we booked didn't turn up on time. Highly recommend this place :)

"Very pleasant week-end stay"
Geoff W, 18 Avril 2017

Booked two rooms for our family for the Easter week-end. The service was very courteous and friendly, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. The price point was reasonable, especially by Niagara-on-the-Lake standards, and the location is convenient for exploring the region.

"Niagara on the Lake Stay"
Brian T, 18 Avril 2017

I stayed at the Butler Inn a Best Western hotel in Niagara on the Lake. The place was very tidy & neat. There is a pub type restaurant almost attached to it that has great food. I had the wood fired pizza it was excellent. The location is close to downtown which is nice. The staff were very friendly & accommodating. The breakfast that was included was a little light, but not too bad.

"Comfortable stay"
Another_Excursion, 10 Avril 2017

The Best Western is clean, has comfortable beds and a free light breakfast. Waffles, toast, muffins, yogurt, cereal and cold hard boiled eggs are available. The walls are very thin, we could hear our neighbours full conversation and our room was loud every time a neighbour turned on their jacuzzi tub. You could easily walk to restaurants from this location as well as an antique store across the road.

"Wonderful Stay"
Jonathan D, 05 Avril 2017

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. Although their web site said no pets, they do have one room that allows a pet. With a call to the hotel, we were able to book it and bring our small dog. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome and our dog received a small personalized gift for his stay. The hotel is clean, organized and close to the main street of NOTL. We would stay there again for sure.

"Trip the Niagara Valley"
Monique L, 01 Avril 2017

Very pleased despite the rain and cool weather. We loved Niagara-on-the-Lake and had a stop at The Beau Chapeau store where we bought nice summer hats. Loved our dinner at the Skylon restaurant and our visit to the falls.

"Our Niagara On The Lake Hideaway"
Steve G, 30 Mars 2017

Our second time staying here. Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Continental breakfast was very good.Lots to choose from and presentation of food was excellent. Hotel is located a 1 minute drive from downtown Niagara On The Lake and is located in the middle of some of the very best wineries. Passes for free wine tasting are available at the front desk. We will be coming back again.

"Great staff and clean rooms"
waltera520, 26 Mars 2017

Staff was great. Friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, quiet, and we experience no issues. Great village and surrounding area. Good internet service. Conveniently located to Niagra falls. We will come back when we have the opportunity.

"A nice property"
Hyfly1, 26 Novembre 2016

My wife and I come to Niagara on the Lake two or three times per year on wine buying expeditions. This time we were only stopping for one night on our way home from Toronto. We usually stay in the middle of town, but this time we decided to try the Colonel Butler because it is a short walk from our favorite bakery (Willow, which is not to be missed) and our favorite restaurant (Backhouse). The room is spacious and comfortably furnished. Staff is friendly. They offer a free breakfast, but I did not check it out because we are down the block from Willow. I'm not sure what other amenities are available, you can check their website for the details. If you are looking for a nice, reasonably priced place to sleep, this place fits the bill.

"Wine tour in Niagara on the lake"
dfriel2016, 23 Novembre 2016

The tour was wonderful, the hotel staff were excellent. I booked this hotel for my friends & myself, & I was embarrassed when I saw how dirty & scuffed up all the doors to rooms were, & the carpet was filthy & in poor shape. The rest of the room was good. I went to the vending machine to get my friend something, & it did not work. This has obviously been that way for a while, since there were only about 3 items in it. We enjoyed our stay, but next time I would try to find something with a pool & much cleaner.

"A Fall visit must."
Chap H, 18 Novembre 2016

When visiting Niagara on the Lake, I highly recommend the Colonel Butler Inn. It is clean, close to the shops and entertainment and they treat us like old family friends! From their first welcoming smile and the special cookies they have waiting for you to the sincere" thanks for staying with us, please come again". It is a home away from home.

"Dated"
Terry J, 15 Novembre 2016

I have stayed here a few times and it is okay. Definitely dated and could use some modernizing. For the price you pay might be nice if it looked the part. Staff is friendly and breakfast is good. Has a timmies across the street which is nice and not too far from town and wineries.

"Great place to stay."
Linda M, 13 Novembre 2016

The staff are awesome. So friendly and helpful. Made us feel right at home. Room was spotless and offered all necessary amenities. Beds were very comfortable and there were no noise issues. We could actually open the window. It was fresh and completely enjoyable. Breakfast was usual hotel fare but the kitchen staff made the difference. Apples picked that morning brought in by Leda, one of the kitchen staff. Everyone went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and special. Would highly recommend and will be staying there again.

"Great experience as always"
suzeyq, 13 Novembre 2016

We stayed at the Colonel Butler for 2 nights this weekend and other than a minor issue with the room rate (which was resolved quickly), everything was great. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the room was comfortable and breakfast was good. We will definitely be back!

"Fabulous Stay"
Veets63, 08 Novembre 2016

Our Niagara on the Lake one night getaway was fabulous. The BW Colonel Butler was perfect. We had a nice cozy King Suite including fireplace, jetted tub on the main floor. Quiet, cozy, clean rooms with very comfortable bed. All Staff were extremely nice and welcoming with special thanks to Penny at the front desk. Free ample parking & good wifi. The only disappointment was no hot breakfast only continental. The hotel is approx. a 5min drive from the main strip (Queen St) with all the wonderful shops and restaraunts. Would have no issues lodging here again soon.

"Nice and comfort stay"
BillQ496, 08 Novembre 2016

My wife and I stayed for one night while doing a wine country tour. We took the fireplace suite which was clean and comfortable. Check in and out was quick and easy. Breakfast was pretty basic but okay. A little pricey for the overall experience, but, nothing to complain about.

"Not just Pet Friendly, Pet Welcoming!"
Sactosunny, 08 Novembre 2016

We stayed here one night on our way from DC to Sudbury with our dog. Upon checkin, we received a thoughtful gift bag for Niya with a toy, doggie doodoo bags, and milk bone treats. In the room was a dog bed and food and water bowls. Beware: there is only ONE room set aside for guests with pets. It is on the first floor next to the rear exit, which made it easy to take our girl outside when she needed to do business. Just a few blocks to a large park and lots of quiet streets in between for walking. The beds were comfortable and there is room to move around. The bathroom is updated and what great water pressure in the shower! The breakfast was adequate: cereals, breads, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, yogurts, etc. you can walk downtown to the heart of town (about a mile) or up the street to one of the many excellent wineries that are near. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

"Small, friendly and comfortable"
OptiBill2002, 04 Novembre 2016

We decided to do a last minute weekend away in Niagara on the Lake. Beautiful fall weekend. We are Best Western Rewards members so the rate was a little more reasonable in a town where the weekend prices go way up. Very pleasant welcome at the front desk. No elevator but a quick offer to help with our luggage. Room looked recently refreshed with new paint and carpet. Very clean. Morning breakfast was the standard Best Western continental breakfast which is all we need. Very good coffee. Tim Hortons across the street the rest of the time. Ate at the pub attached for a cold beer and a burger. Nothing fancy but good and reasonable. Free parking and a short drive downtown or to Niagara Falls. Would recommend to friends and family.

"Decent but pricey"
Tim P, 30 Octobre 2016

We recently went to Niagara on the Lake for a getaway and stayed here. The room was decent and comfortable. Location was good with an easy walk to the historic village. The woman preparing the breakfast was wonderful. Very friendly, helpful and charming. Unfortunately, we found it extremely pricey for the type of hotel it was. They wouldn't take our CAA discount at registration because it wasn't listed when our friends booked three rooms. That was disappointing. Decent but for that price I would choose another place.

"Nice Cozy Hotel"
Victor C, 26 Octobre 2016

Stayed recently at the Best Western Colonel Butler in Niagara on the Lake. We went with friends for a wedding. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful when checking us in. The rooms were adequately appointed for what we needed and there is a small breakfast area in the morning that has all of the usual continental choices. The business area is located right in the small entranceway, so not a lot of room. There is a pub located out the back if you're looking for a meal a d a drink. All in all I nice stay, but overpriced for what you get.

"Excellent standard hotel in a resort area"
Elmer S, 14 Octobre 2016

Don't be fooled by the small number of rooms and that it's not downtown. This is top notch hotel at which to stay when seeing the plays at Niagara on the Lake. It's very easy to get to, and being half a mile or thereabouts from downtown can actually be a good thing, as it gets one away from the congestion. There are two restaurants less than 250 feet away, plus a doughnut chain. It's a bit of a hike to get downtown, but the distance is not prohibitive for most people. You can also drive and generally find parking.

"Not that good"
islandrockin, 14 Octobre 2016

After seeing the reviews on TA ,I thought this was a good choice but I would not stay again. Overpriced and tired. Our aircon was very noisy. The hotel is a few yards away from an intersection before heading into the town, not a great setting at all. The lobby was very small and cramped if there were a few people around. Friendly staff It is a good walk to town and I would rather be closer Bed was comfy and room reasonable If you are on the second floor their is no elevator which could pose problems for some

"Save your money."
Doreen P, 11 Octobre 2016

This place needs a major overhaul. They charge high rates but are not a high end facility. The room had an unpleasant door, especially when the air conditioner ( very noisy) was running. The evening clerk was not friendly and did not like having to use my phone to copy the numbers from a reward email. The beds were not comfortable , have been well used. Similarly , the carpeting needs to be updated as it appears worn and very dirty. Better value at a bed and breakfast the following night.

"Not worth the Money"
JanSim2014, 08 Octobre 2016

We have stayed at Bed and Breakfast or much better value for the money. The Best Western appears to be a very old tired building, in our room there was a musty smell, and the carpet was in need of refreshing or replacing , there was paint flaking off the bathroom ceiling and mold around the seams of the tiles. Overall the extremely high level of customer service by the very pleasant staff made our stay enjoyable, breakfast was adequate and the lady very friendly.

"loved this hotel"
Judy B, 30 Septembre 2016

This Best Western is a little older and needs a little sprucing up in spots, but if I returned to Niagra on the Lake, I would only choose this hotel. The price is great for the area and the beds were super comfy. I appreciate the triple sheeting as it is more sanitary for guests. We had a fridg, which was very convenient and it was nice to have a recycling basket in the room. There is a great restaurant next to the hotel which you can walk to. And another across the street, which looked busy and popular, although we did not go there this time. The included breakfast was great with a nice variety of items, especially the freshly baked muffins every morning. And Lila (I think that is her name) works the breakfast and is an absolute "gem". She makes sure you have everything you need and is a delight to talk too. By the way, the other staff members are wonderful also. I should mention that "real" dishes and not the throw-a-ways are used. There is an upper and lower patio which is great in the warmer weather. We had out breakfast out there several times and also enjoyed it in the evening with our wine. We walked to town during the day, but I don't recommend it at night. So to get to town if you are walking, go to the right out of the parking lot and walk one block to Simcoe St. Turn left and walk about six blocks to Queen St. and turn right. It is a delightful town with many shops and restaurants. My only suggestion for the hotel is to add safes to the rooms. Other than that, everything was wonderful and we wished we could have stayed longer. Niagra Falls (Canadian Side) is the best viewing of the falls and only about 20 minutes away by car.

"Perfect for us!"
Lisa C, 30 Septembre 2016

Nice little place not too far from the town. Walkable but we drove since it was drizzling out. Parking was easy to find. Very reasonably priced compared to hotels in the area. Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The room was typical and very clean, bed comfy. The Inn doesn't have an elevator. The free continental breakfast was a plus. We would stay here again.

"Great place to stay"
Joyce B, 22 Septembre 2016

Highly recommend staying at this Best Western. All other Inns too pricey; although they were a little closer to downtown. Easy walk to downtown. Great continental breakfast. Very clean room and bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful.

"Great stay"
garyef, 19 Septembre 2016

Rooms were clean & quiet. Staff was outstanding, Patricia at the front desk was very helpful & knowledgeable about the area. Did not get the lady's name who tends to the breakfast, but she kept things humming along smoothly there. Thanks for a great stay.

"It is a 3 star hotel"
MarthaColumbusOh, 18 Septembre 2016

When it says 3 stars that's what it means. The people there were very helpful and friendly. We were biking and they had a shed we could store our bikes when we were not riding them. The room was just a room. The first night we noticed the lamp between the beds didn't work, the stopper for the tub didn't work and there was no bath gel in the dispenser. I told one of the hotel staff and she quickly fixed it so everything was in working condition. Nothing fancy but it was clean!!!

"Niagara On The Lake"
Terrie S, 17 Septembre 2016

I loved our stay at this hotel. We were upgraded due to our "diamond member" status and we had a lovely room. Our room was quiet and clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were tentative at check in/out and went out of their way to make our stay special. Thank you for a lovely experience all around.

"This a great place to stay"
ShoppingBound, 16 Septembre 2016

Upon entry, we had a very warm welcome at the front desk! Our room wasn't quite ready and they were so apologetic, but that was fine....we were early after all, so no worries. We simply went across the street to Tim Horton and then to the building next to that to rent a bicycle for the afternoon. Note: There is also a gas station and corner store a mere block away should you require this. (Small fridge in room) You are a 1km walk (15 min walk) from the main drag. We like walking and the neighbourhoods around here are delightful to walk around. Amenities are great! Parking free. Wifi ran perfectly. We were on the 2nd floor. No elevator, but so what, they offered us help with our luggage. We didn't need it, but they offered straight away. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Yes, it's an older place and dated, but cleanliness and good service rules. Breakfast was exactly what we required. Your woman on staff in the kitchen was such a sweetheart. She's a keeper! Check out was dealt with in a very friendly manner. We've stayed in NOTL over the last 10 years and rarely go back to the same place....but, you may just see us back here!

"Expectations met!"
Barbara D, 16 Septembre 2016

This hotel, although an older building, was perfectly accommodating for our trip to Niagara-on-the-lake in June. Much thanks to Penny and the rest of the knowledgable staff for helping us with our extra curricular activities aside from going to the theaters. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next summer.

"This place is great !"
sundancemagic, 13 Septembre 2016

We were up here for a wedding nearby and stayed two nights. I had never visited this area before and I loved it. The room was clean , the shower perfect, and the free breakfast yummy. The breakfast lady was wonderful and brought in fresh peaches from her garden. Definitly returning next year !!!

"Needs serious TLC"
RecentlyRetired2012, 06 Septembre 2016

We don't often stay at best western hotels because the quality varies so much. This one was a big disappointment. Our room was not ready upon arrival so we chose to upgrade to a suite, which was ready. What a mistake. The room was small, very dark and stuffy-- which meant the noisy ac had to be on constantly-- greatly disturbing sleep. The bathroom has not been updated. Most of all, we were dismayed to see a large stain at the entrance as we walked in. The breakfast was reasonable, and the front desk staff very helpful.

"Enjoyed stay"
Robert R, 01 Septembre 2016

Excellent friendly staff. room was good with good amenities. The only concern was no elevator. We were fortunate in that we only had one small suitcase and were on the second floor . Too far to walk to the main street I Niagara o the Lake

"Dirty!!"
Pamela S, 31 Août 2016

My daughter and I spent two nights at the Best Western Colonel Butler Inn for a weekend bonding get-away. Since it was the Peach Festival and it was a last minute decision to visit NOTL, the town was completely booked, leaving the Best Western as our only option. We had never stayed there before, but we were hopeful that it would be sufficient. The building is obviously old, which is fine. I have been in many old and charming hotels. However, old is no excuse for dirty!! It was clear from the looks of the carpet that it had been some time since it had been changed or even steam cleaned. However, the extent of the filth became even more apparent when walking on the carpet. Our bare feet literally stuck to it!!! I tried to avoid walking on the carpet from the bed to the bathroom by hopping from the tiled floor in the entryway to the bed. The next morning while in the shower, I was aghast at the amount of black footprints at the bottom of the bathroom. I may have picked up some filth from the minimal amount of walking on the carpet, but it seems the tiled floor contributed to "black feet" as well! We made it a point to keep our shoes by the bedside and to wear them at all times when moving about the room. We checked the beds for bugs...thankfully, the linens appeared clean! If this is your only option, reschedule for another time when better lodging is available. NOTL is expensive, so if you can't find an affordable clean hotel, you might want to consider a day trip to NOTL and stay further out of the town limits.

"Best Western Niagara-On-The-Lake"
thmota, 29 Août 2016

Good centrally located hotel. Could use many upgrades in the inside - elevator, new A/C units, bathrooms. Great central location and walkable to many restaurants and attractions. Staff were professional and friendly.

"very satisfied"
Wendy H, 25 Août 2016

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, gave excellent directions and tips on parking. Staff also gave us coupons for free tastings at the area wineries. The room was clean and bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was decent. Only negative was air conditioner had a musty smell.

"Girls trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario"
Jackie C, 24 Août 2016

This hotel may be older, but it was updated, clean and the staff were extraordinarily friendly. There's a great porch on the front where we shared a glass of wine with other guests after our bike tour of the wineries (highly recommended!). Our king room with a pullout couch was very spacious; even had a fireplace! Breakfast was the usual hotel fare, but the lady who hosted the breakfast room kept it stocked and tidy and she was very sweet. About a 15-minute stroll from the downtown main street and the lake, but the walk through the beautiful neighborhoods was well worth it. I would definitely stay there again.

"Our stay during the Shaw Festival"
wjp61, 18 Août 2016

room was spacious and clean, beds comfortable, wireless not so great. no elevator. breakfast the usual suspects. No parking fee. Walking distance to amenities, theatres, dining. Staff cheerful and helpful

"It's ok. Watch for extra charge!"
JKMAN, 10 Août 2016

I booked a stay for a theatre visit for myself and my two daughters. I'm sure when I booked I indicated that there were 3 of us. When we arrived she said there would be an extra charge for the 3rd person. Huh? The hotel itself is ok, nothing fancy. The room had some areas that needed patching/repair. For a one-night stay it was fine. Breakfast was pretty standard, but fine. There is a waffle-maker, which my kids always enjoy. And there is the option to take your food outside or back to your room if you prefer. The staff member at breakfast (should have noted her name) was very pleasant and helpful! Two storey, no elevator. Not an issue for us, but for others it could be.

"Wine Touring"
Gail M, 10 Août 2016

We enjoyed our trip, hotel perfect location, staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean and easily accessible. Will definitely book this hotel again for a future trip with family and friends. Very close for visiting wineries in the area.

"Nice Hotel In Niagara on the Lake"
James R, 10 Août 2016

This is a nice, clean hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. It is a bit out of town, but a comfortable walk and more reasonably priced. They had a nice balcony on the second floor and a restaurant next door that was very basic but had very good pizza. The lady at the front desk was helpful.

"Amazing Staff - Great Location - GREAT STAY"
Scott W, 08 Août 2016

Both my wife and I were celbrating our 4th Anniversary. They had originally asked on the phone if it was for any special occasion. Upon arrival, the hotel looked very nice and was in a great location to everything. Downtown was only a 10 minute walk. There were winiers within a 10-20 minutes walk, as well they are right beside the bike tour location. Once we checked in they had kindly waved the extra cost that I needed to pay at check-out because my points could not cover the whole suite. That was already a great start to the weekend! We then entered the room to find a bottle of complimentary Wine in a chiller waiting for us with a note that read Happy Anniversary! From there we went back to reception to get advise on wineries and they handed us a whole bunch of vouchers for near by wineries. They staff was just so helpful and kind! There was also a great diner across teh street for a nice big breakfast. Highly recommend staying hear if you plan on visiting niagara on the lake.

Debbie A, 29 Juillet 2016

Hotel is conveniently located in NOTL. Great, friendly reception staff. Room was spotlessly clean and had WiFi, however connection to WiFi could be sporatic. Great breakfast included with room rate, with a wide selection of food available. Can eat outside on porch in summer months. Hotel can provide vouchers for wine tastings at several wineries.. Hotel restaurant (bar/grill) serves excellent food. Would highly recommend hotel!

"Perfect"
CarMc, 26 Juillet 2016

It was great to be back at the Colonel Butler Inn and it was as good as the last visit. Prior to arrival, I received an email asking if I needed and earlier check in time or if I had a preference to what floor I wanted to stay on. The breakfast is is good quality and good variety and the waffles are brilliant. All in all, excellent service. Can't wait for my next visit!

"First Might of Girls Road Trip with Little Dog"
SailingGirl1, 25 Juillet 2016

We could not have been happier with this lovely little hotel that is so "doggie friendly". When we finally checked in at 10pm, they handed us a lovely navy blue small shopping bag with a large handmade tag saying "Matty", cut in the shape of a doggie treat. Inside were treats, a toy and poop bags for Matty my friend's little dog (who is so cute and does not bark!) That she had rescued 2 weeks before our trip to Magnetawan, Ontario. The room had a lovely doggie bed in front of a full length mirror and Matty loved looking at himself. The airconditioning was great and there were 2 queen sized beds - perfect! And they gave a great AAA Discount. They served a free breakfast with the AAA discount and we could take it and the dog up to the 2nd floor balcony outside the next morning instead of sitting inside (where it got a bit crowded with kids by the time we checked out to be "on the road again and heading north"). They had wonderful waffles with blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries for toppings with whipped cream! Also good fruit, yogurt, and cereal. All good! And such a great start for our road trip. They could not have been nicer there and we're lovely. We will be back (hopefully soon)!!!

"Adequate Accommodation"
SooMarie99, 20 Juillet 2016

My husband and I booked two nights during our first visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake.The staff at the front desk upon arrival and leaving were very welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious and L-shaped. The couch and armchair looked like they needed a good cleaning and crumbs on the walls needed wiping. The ottoman made of black vinyl was torn and peeling. The queen bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was fine. The only hot item was a waffle machine. All eggs were hard boiled. We enjoyed eating breakfast out on the front veranda each morning. The location was good for us to explore downtown as well as the winery we had planned to visit 2km away. At a cost of over $300. per night, this is not good value so we would not recommend it.

"Clean, friendly, helpful hotel & staff"
Soyabean_83, 13 Juillet 2016

We happened upon Niagara-on-the-falls and decided to stay in the area. Upon calling and explaining we had an 11 month old that would need a travel cot/play pen (quite last minute) they bent over backwards to accommodate us & were so friendly & welcoming. The room was clean and cool (thankfully!) and breakfasts were plenty and fresh. We liked it so much we booked another night and requested late check-out too, a great help after being at the Falls all day! We really enjoyed our stay & would recommend to anyone, don't be put off by the distance from the shops, it's a lovely walk back and via Tim Hortons too...bonus.

"Good for cycling"
Galit2010, 11 Juillet 2016

Good location to ride from to the falls or in the opposite direction towards the Welland Canal. A bit of a walk to the main shops on Niagara on the Lake but we did not mind the walk. You have to ask about the cycling amenities at the hotel.

"Lovely little inn!"
Pamela B, 11 Juillet 2016

Stayed just one night - this pleasant little hotel is clean, has 2 small patios to relax on, 2 floors (no elevator), friendly staff, no pool, good parking, sufficient amenities (refrigerator, coffee pot in room, shampoo, etc.), comfy beds and is within walking distance to downtown. There are adjacent restaurants and a Tim Hortons across the street. A decent continental breakfast is included (cereal, hard cooked eggs, waffles, fruit, yogurt, muffins, breads). Would definitely stay again, but would prefer 1st floor.

"Awesome staff"
Electraglide2005, 05 Juillet 2016

This review is a little bit different in that we never actually were able to visit. We had an unexpected death in the family and were unable to attend. By the time I was able to cancel the reservation, it was past the deadline. However the staff was very understanding and still didn't charge us anything for the late cancellation. I even received and email later with there condolences. We will definitely be booking a stay there as soon as possible.

"Biking with family"
Sheryl D, 01 Juillet 2016

THis was our first visit to Niagara on the Lake. I was traveling with my 14 year old daughter and 17 year old daughter. Our purpose was a 3 day biking vacation. The hotel was very accommodating and just what we needed. The rate included a wonderful breakfast perfect for kids including make your own waffles. The rooms were pretty basic, very nice but not luxurious. The staff was super friendly and helped us with anything we needed. The hotel is off the main strip but close enough! The hotel has a balcony on the second floor and first floor with tables and chairs. Very nice. There is no pool.

"Repeat visit in August 2016"
Carol H, 28 Juin 2016

This will be our 3rd stay at this hotel for our visit to the Shaw festival. The hotel is clean, comfortable, serves a good breakfast and is close to the main area of Niagara on the Lake. I have recommended this hotel to friends who also enjoyed their stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful too.

"Best value. location & staff ever"
490Marilyn, 27 Juin 2016

Stayed in June for a wedding. Travelled with our mother, almost 95 yrs old! When booking, the desk suggested a room right near the entrance since we use a transfer chair & walker. It was perfect. We forgot to bring a raised toilet seat with us so staff made some calls & got one for us. We arranged for dinner to be delivered for our Mom & staff watched & opened the room door. Breakfast was lovely & the attendant was a gem! She kept items filled & was so helpful. We have stayed in more expensive places but have never experienced every single staff member at this level. It does make a difference to your stay. The location was away from crowded areas but so convenient. I would return in a flash. People make a difference!

"Friendly and efficient"
Elizabeth and J... R, 25 Juin 2016

I stayed at the Best Western Colonel Butler Inn for two nights. The reception people were friendly and efficient. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent--home made muffins right from the oven and a friendly host. Even better--one may get a tray and enjoy breakfast on e the porch or balcony. I walked to centretown (shops and theatres) in 25 minutes along quiet streets with beautiful houses and gardens.

"Good hotel"
Petru R, 24 Juin 2016

The hotel is clean and confortable,in good location, staff was helpfull and the fridge in the room was very usefull. Breakfast could have more options ,also some eggs to order would be good. Overall I would come again in the future to this hotel.

"Best Western Colonel Butler Inn"
bbrookslewis, 17 Juin 2016

great spot in Niagara-on-the-lake. Travelling with my mother, the room had two double beds, lots of space for the two of us. The balcony at the end of the hall was perfect for a nightcap after the show. a bit out of the downtown area, but a quick drive or nice walk to all the activities. Would definitely recommend it.

"great service"
klchiasson91, 16 Juin 2016

service was top notch, room clean, staff friendly and welcoming. Manage even went extra mile and left a bottle of wine, glasses and a note wishing us a happy 25th anniversary, such a special, thoughtful touch to make our day memorable. Thank you Ken and Laura

"Very comfortable- long walk to town"
nytravell, 16 Juin 2016

Not fancy but very nice. It's a 20 minute walk into Niagara on the Lake. Nice porch for sitting out on (but right on the road) and very good breakfast. All the staff was extremely nice and helpful. Good alternative to very expensive in town hotels.

"Clean and Comfortable"
David M, 09 Juin 2016

We stayed for three nights at this Hotel and really enjoyed ourselves. It is a short walk to the main street of this delightful town where there is a superb selection of restaurants and coffee shops. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a useful seating area. The staff were extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellent - best waffles we have eaten.

"Friendly, welcoming and helpful"
Pemins, 04 Juin 2016

A really friendly and welcoming hotel. I wasn't expecting the relaxed atmosphere which really added to what was a special trip with friends. The bedroom was very comfortable and we had a sofa area which meant we could sit quietly with our friends. The breakfast was good, especially the waffle maker which was easy to master once shown!, The front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful arranging dinner and wine tour bookings efficiently. Ideal location in a quiet area away from the Main Street. Plenty of places to eat nearby. No lift so if you can't manage stairs ask for a ground floor room.

"great staff and very clean"
769derekf, 31 Mai 2016

room very small no comfortable chair to sit in very small bathroom and no elevator. we booked room using points we found the room very small with just 2 dining room chairs not even one arm chair to sit and relax in .The bathroom was really small could hardly turn rond. The room was really clean and the staff were excellent breakfast very good with a nice hostess

"Stay at Butler Inn may 2016"
glenw947, 28 Mai 2016

Very comfortable & efficient little hotel with a European feel. I really enjoyed meeting my fellow occupants & sipping morning coffee on the front porch. Exercise room has full body workout machines, It was well maintained, clean and stocked. Easy scenic 6 block walk down Simco Street to main street attractions. I will stay there again when I return to historic & beautiful Niagara on the Lake

"Great place to stay when visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake"
gretschwhtfalcon, 23 Mai 2016

We have stayed at the Butler Inn twice now and have really enjoyed it both times. The complimentary breakfast is always a treat with the delicious homemade muffins. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed. The hotel is reasonably priced, located in a quiet area, and is well within walking distance of the main shops and restaurant section. There is also a nice family restaurant right across the street - the "Little Red Rooster", and also right next to the hotel is the "Butler's Bar and Grill" that was unfortunately closed for renovations when we were just there, but we did eat there a few years ago and found the food to be terrific, and so we are already looking forward to eating there again the next time we are in town.

"Girls getaway and theatre weekend"
Marion R, 17 Mai 2016

Clean , welcoming hotel within walking distance of many sites in town . Outstanding staff , so friendly and helpful . Delicious well stocked breakfast room . Staff was knowledgeable about local restaurants and attractions and spoke from personal experience when making a recommendation .

"Cozy hotel with amazing service!"
CdnTravelGal79, 05 Mai 2016

Recently stayed here for two nights while visiting the Niagara region, and was not disappointed. This cozy hotel is within walking distance to the Historic area of Niagara on the Lake, and close to the many wineries in the area. The room was clean and well maintained (the only thing I would say is that is needs a refresh soon), and the beds were super comfortable. The hotel has a continental breakfast that is included, and it had good variety. The best thing about this property is the staff, they were welcoming, professional, helpful when you asked questions, and just great people. Would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

"McLaughlin Buick Club of Canada Spring Tour"
Buicklover, 30 Avril 2016

This is a small quiet hotel, well staffed with knowledgeable people. The rooms are clean and well equipped. The breakfast area is very clean and we were lucky to have Lida working in there on our visit, she helped with the creation of waffles and toppings.

"Incredible customer service"
Amanda B, 27 Avril 2016

I just have to share that the folks at this hotel went the extra mile in helping me deal with a cancellation. They were compassionate and kind despite me being upset due to family tragedy and stress from that. I have lived in this tourist town, and worked in hotels there. My parents lived there for 35 years. I know how hard hospitality industry jobs can be, and I really want to thank the staff for taking such good care of me. I'll be recommending this hotel to friends and family, and will definitely stay there in the future. Thanks especially to Penny and Patricia for their kindness and understanding.

"Great Hote,l excellent location, Freindly staff."
Judy J, 25 Avril 2016

Had a fantastic wine tour guided by Kimberley Cousineau booked by our Hotel Kim was awesome. Keep a map of everywhere we visited so I didn't have too. Looked after any purchases we made and made sure it was kept safe. Kim was very informative about the different locations we visited. I would highly recommend Kim 289-438-8000

"We hope to stay there again! "
Anita M, 20 Avril 2016

We had a wonderful time at this Best Western and felt very relaxed. The friendly staff gave us a map and good recommendations for the wineries. Gave great advice for the parking and buses at Niagara Falls area. We were happy with the comfortable beds and clean room. Breakfast was a nice surprise for the variety and delicious foods. Friendly lady there took good care of us! Also enjoyed our meals in restaurant attached to the hotel. We have recommended this hotel to other friends from Florida who plan to visit Niagara Falls! The location is perfect for walking, visiting wineries, seeing the historic sites and enjoying Niagara Falls!

"Quiet weekend in NOTL, amazing staff"
cjauff, 18 Avril 2016

We booked the Colonel Butler Inn on the recommendation of friends who live in town. It ended up being a great choice. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was ready for early check in as requested, which was very nice! The welcome cookies were also a nice touch. The room was very clean and a good size with comfortable beds. The shower had great water pressure but the hot water was somewhat lacking at 10am. The hotel was very quiet, which made for a great sleep. We slept in so didn't try the breakfast at the hotel but went across the street to the Little Red Rooster for a great breakfast. The hotel is located fairly close to the shops/restaurants along Queen and King st., about 15 minute walk or so. The lady at the front desk was also nice enough to enroll me in the Best Western rewards program while we checked out. We will definitely be back again for our next visit.

"A Great evening "
Jack P, 18 Avril 2016

My wife and I had an opportunity to get away for an evening on April 9th. We stayed at this great hotel for one night. The staff was great and very pleasant to deal with. The front desk associate, made several recommendations on local attractions and offered to make dinner reservations upon our arrival. The offer of taking our luggage was declined as we only had a small bag, and did not require any assistance. We would definitely stay here again.

"Very friendly helpful staff"
Screen2617, 11 Avril 2016

Very clean room, comfortable bed. We had the suite with the fireplace... bonus. Good sufficient breakfast. Quiet local in the off season. Far away from the hum of the major highway. Close to the 'strip' of shops and restaurants. A nice drive along the many vineyards.

"I did not sleep at all"
Erika L, 30 Mars 2016

Terribly small beds and you can hear everything that is happening with in the other rooms. I did not sleep at all because every time someone used the toilet I could hear it... This is not an option in Niagara on the Lake.

"Girls weekend - Wine tours"
Sandy A, 29 Mars 2016

Out of all of our girls weekend trips this was the nicest hotel as of yet. We were greeted by the friendliest guest service employee ever! We had adjoining rooms that were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was great. The woman in the kitchen (I'm sorry but I didn't catch her name) went above and beyond giving us carafes of coffee and tray to take our food back up to the room. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!! Thank you to the staff for making our weekend that much more enjoyable!

"Can't Go Wrong"
Amzgreen986, 21 Mars 2016

We stayed at the Best Western Colonel Butler Inn for two nights (March 18 and 19, 2016) while visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake for the “Taste of Niagara” progressive dinner. We have stayed here several times before and are very happy repeat customers (our preferred lodging in NOTL is the Weatherpine Inn, but on the occasions when it has been booked, like this time, we have stayed at the Col. Butler). The staff here are all very helpful and accommodating. Check-in and out is quick. The price is very reasonable and includes free parking, wifi and breakfast. Breakfast is continental style (muffins that are baked on-site; bagels, cereal, toast, fresh make-your-own waffles, yogourt, orange juice, apple juice, fresh oranges and bananas, hard boiled eggs, coffee). Newspapers are available in the breakfast room and the small lobby. Tip: get to the breakfast room early (opens at 7:00) because it is not overly big and it might be difficult to get a table around peak time that starts about 8:15. The rooms are very clean, bright and well-maintained. Flat screen TV with very good selection of channels (COGECO I believe). There is an iron and ironing board. Our room was equipped with two twin beds that were extremely comfortable each with its own warm comforter. Another tip: some of the pillows are quite thick, you might have to ask for a slimmer one. The temperature control was good but we place a premium on operating windows as we prefer sleeping in cool, fresh air. Our room had an easy, crank operated bottom-opening casement window. There is very good water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water – no issues there. Bar soap is provided, there is also a dispenser in the shower for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The towels were very good, there was a ventilating fan with just adequate air moving capacity, but there was also a timer-operated heat lamp in the ceiling which is a nice touch. As we like to walk the location is excellent for us. The downtown shops are about 10 minutes on foot, however most of the people in our large group chose to drive. If you plan to visit the many wineries, you'll need to drive especially if purchases are on your mind.

"Wine tour weekend"
639jane, 20 Mars 2016

We had a wonderful stay at the Colonel Butler Best Western. our room was very clean and welcoming . the breakfast was very nice the staff was very welcoming and helpful of where to go in the area. the location was very convenient. Within walking distance to old town but not right in it. Took a tour of wineries and were picked up right at hotel.

"Another Wonderful Stay"
Maxine H, 18 Mars 2016

My husband and I enjoyed another lovely stay at this hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel is welcoming and clean. The manager is always visible in the hotel helping where needed to ensure that all operations within the facility run smoothly. Any requests or questions are accommodated and answered to the best of the staff's ability. As a guest at this hotel you never feel that you are imposing; rather you truly feel like a valued customer. We are looking forward to our next visit to this establishment.

"Friendly!"
katrat62, 17 Mars 2016

Myself and my husband have just returned from a six day trip to Niagra on the Lake. Choosing to stay at the Colonel Butler Inn was an excellent decision. As the Expedia price was so reasonable, I did wonder what the hotel would be like! I needn't have worried. The Colonel Butler Inn is comfortable and clean. The beds and pillows are very conducive to a good nights sleep!! The breakfast is a simple affair - but they do have a waffle maker!! The best thing about the Inn are its staff. We dealt with Patricia mainly and she was delightful - she went above and beyond the call of duty on a couple of occasions and we can't thank her enough for her kindness and professionalism! Everyone we met at the Inn were lovely - it's a warm and friendly place! The 10/12 minute walk into town is extremely enjoyable, with safe pavements and adequate street lighting if you are coming home after dark. NOTL has some lovely antique shops and you won't be disappointed if this is your bag - Lakeshore antiques is very interesting. All in all we had a lovely visit and would happily return to this gorgeous little town and stay at the Colonel Butler Inn again!!

"March Break Escape"
Andy C, 15 Mars 2016

Booked a two night stay here to get a Niagara Wineries tour. Hotel is very comfortable, quiet, has a Tim Horton's across the street (perfect), and an attached restaurant which we did not happen to use. (Butler's Grille) We had a nice room with soaker tub, and gas fireplace (although we had not requested either). Breakfast room included. Free parking at the front door. This is our second stay here in a few years and will use it again if in the area.

"Wonderful night's sleep!!!"
Softstuff, 14 Mars 2016

Beds are comfortable beyond belief! Col. Butler Inn is small, neat, very clean and handy to most things in Niagara on the Lake. The self-serve breakfast bar was well presented, food fresh and plentiful. We had amazing hosts who were courteous and kind. It was a pleasure to stay there. For those wanting to do some exercising, the workout room is available and well-outfitted.

"Colonel Butler Inn"
Robert M, 13 Mars 2016

Decent hotel with really good customer service. Quiet, good location...it was the typical, reliable Best Western experience. It would be nice if the breakfast was a hot breakfast, similar to what other BWs offer, but overall the experience was really good.

"Pet friendly place!"
Ralph M, 08 Mars 2016

We were delighted to stay @ this hotel, with our dog. She was treated like she was a valued guest as well. The staff supplied a dog bed, dog dishes and even presented her with a gift bag upon checkin, that included a dog toy and biscuits. So thoughtful.

"Superb service"
Darkwing28, 27 Février 2016

We arrived for the evening and upon check in were given s cookie snack. As we entered our Junior King Suite the lights were on and soft music playing. The room is well appointed, coffee maker, refrigerator and gas fireplace to make it cozy. The breakfast room is large and offers a great selection of breakfast items including hot items. Service is efficient and friendly.

"Great Stay!"
Aaron S, 15 Février 2016

This Inn is situated central to all the amenities that Niagara on Lake has to Offer. The Inn presents a variety of rooms and the room that we chose had a fire place and a jetted bath tub. All the comforts of home and long couch to sit by the fire. My stay was relaxing and rejuvenating. I can't wait to return in the summer!

"Nice hotel, great location close to the water and downtown area of NOTL"
Courtney V, 08 Février 2016

Nice little hotel, good breakfast and friendly staff. They gave out cookies when we checked in. This hotel was about a 20 min walk to downtown or less than 5 min drive to the shops. Would stay here again in the future.

"Great hotel for excellent price with friendly first class service"
Andie W, 02 Février 2016

This is a lovely hotel, clean, inviting, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is decent, and the classical music playing on the TV in the room when we arrived was a really nice touch. And: free cookies from the concierge when we arrived!

"Nice place to stay ,service really"
Onay S, 26 Janvier 2016

I booked a night at the Niagara on the Lake best western on the recommendation of a colleague and because it was close to where I was to conduct my business. The overall experience was excellent - I extended my stay an additional night rather move closer to my next day's meetings as I had originally planned. Best services ever from LIDA our breakfast lady and the night auditor. Thanks LIDA .

"Not Quite what I was expecting"
prejan f, 13 Janvier 2016

I checked in December 27, 2015, stayed for one night. I went to this hotel with very high expectations because I read all the reviews on trip advisor. I booked a king bed on the phone, and upon check in they were sold out, so we got two double beds for me and my husband, plus our baby. we stayed on 1st floor in one of the corners. They didn't have cribs. I spend the whole night scared that my baby would fall from one of the double beds. Also the room didn't have a carpet, it's just hard wood floor, and I like to be barefoot. The most annoying thing is that you can't close the curtains so they let the light from the parking lot coming inside the room and also we could hear the guests parking their cars right outside our window. So the room was not as dark as we would like. The AC was loud but working. The fridge was noisy too. The washroom is average, one of the towels left lint all over my husband's skin after the shower, and the shower head had too much pressure and you can't adjust it. The breakfast was good. The front desk staff was average nice. Unfortunately I also received 4 receipts of my billing during that night, for my e-mail, for no reason, that was also annoying.

"good for wine tours"
V3882LWlisap, 11 Janvier 2016

good, clean...close to wineries and we got a taxi to take us around. Old winery was the restaurant down the street...very good. Pet friendly EXCEPT you cant leave the property without your dog. I would stay there again

"A Quaint Beautiful Region"
Kerry P, 06 Janvier 2016

A quiet getaway proved fruitful. Lovely town, wonderful hotel that fits gorgeously into the area. Fantastic service and a really nice room that was very comfortable and clean with my favourite perk which is a great bed! Amenities at the hotel and within walking distance.

"A Lovely, Quiet Hotel, Conveniently Located"
211Geri, 02 Janvier 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the warm hospitality, comfortable room and delicious, complimentary breakfast offered by this small hotel certainly added to our enjoyment. The staff were helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the decor was attractive. There was good access to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake and the two theatres we attended during the Shaw Festival. We will definitely stay here again.

"Great hospitality in NOTL"
TravelHarry, 01 Janvier 2016

We chose the BW Colonel Butler Inn as a post-Christmas get-away and it was perfect for us. The hotel was in a lovely and quiet neighbourhood, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the room was clean, fresh-smelling and comfortable, the mattresses and pillows were great. There was nice attention to detail. We enjoyed the yummy breakfast. We'll be back!

"Great stay in pretty Niagara-on-the-Lake"
rosey02, 24 Décembre 2015

We stayed here for 9 nights during a family visit to the area. The room was great, the beds super comfortable. The hotel was quiet and in a great central location of the town. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to NOTL.

"Pet Friendly Rooms Very Limited"
NukePort, 22 Décembre 2015

We found this hotel to be excellent accommodation: location, value, very clean and pet friendly. Except there is only 1 room (Rm 102) with double beds, that they allow for pets. Room location is near an exit, very convenient for taking your dog out. When you book, you must book this room and they will provide you with a separate confirmation number. Room has dog dishes and a pet bed. Front desk provided treats and a dog toy. BUT you cannot leave your dog unattended, and if you must, then you need to arrange with the hotel for a pet sitter. Hotel Pet fee is $20 + tax.

"Need to improve check in process"
John B, 22 Décembre 2015

We checked in late around 11:30PM, and the person on the front desk we not very proficient in English, but it was OK. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good considering it was a hep yourself to waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit , pastries and several other tasties. I have stayed at this location previously and wold ot hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

"great value"
Brooke M, 21 Décembre 2015

second time we have stayed at this hotel, close to our family function and minutes from NOTL centre. It was super clean and good value. Bed was awesome, super soft! Breakfast even offered some gluten free options of bread and cereal.

"Good location"
T K, 14 Décembre 2015

Stayed one night for a wedding. Was able to get early check in staff was very friendly. heating/fan unit was very loud in our room. Shower curtain smelled like urine, and drain was blocked. Across from Tims and subway which was nice

"Pleasant Comfortable Hotel"
Redfox-7, 07 Décembre 2015

The Colonel Butler Inn is not as expensive as many NOTL hotels and B and B's and is in a very convenient location. The beds are comfortable and the small bathroom is efficient. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our major criticism is of the LG heating/cooling unit in the wall. Even on low it was quite noisy and the heat selector operated in 2 degree intervals. At 72 it blew cold air and at 74 it became a bit too warm. Our solution was to start at 74 and reduce it to 72 later that night. It is a pleasant hotel to which we would return, especially in the off-season or when they are having a promotion

"Adorable hotel with great location"
anders2915, 30 Novembre 2015

2nd visit to the Colonel Butler in NOTL and loved staying here. Very convenient to some of our favorite wineries and Queen Street. Staff is fantastic and helpful with suggestions of eateries in town. Breakfast is just enough for us since we prefer a later lunch and dinner. Bed is very comfortable and overall the room is spacious but cozy at the same time.

"extremely satisfied"
richard w, 28 Novembre 2015

stayed one night for a wedding being held at a nearby hotel (pillar and post also niagara on the lake) its a bigger hotel but when we compared our room and value that we got for the dollar with family who stayed at the pillar post we got the best deal. pillar and post rooms are smaller and twice the price. patricia at the front desk was great and very accomodating. save your coin and spend it on the wine.

"Great stay & outstandingly helpful staff."
Dannygee, 25 Novembre 2015

Stayed here recently as we planned to visit the falls & also spend some time in Toronto. The hotel is about 1hr 30 mins from Toronto & about 20 mins from the Falls. Before arriving we asked about the complimentary breakfast being suitable for coeliacs (gluten free) & they advised us that there was a bakery close by (about 30 seconds away as it happens) & we could buy GF products there. Upon arrival, they had made a special effort to source GF breakfast cereals, muffins & bread & also bought almond milk (girlfriend is also allergic to diary) & really gone out of their way to accommodate my girlfriend's dietary requirements. Outstanding. Check in was quick & smooth, we were pleasantly greeted by reception (Marie?) who talked us through the hwole process, gave us a map of NOTL & pointed us in the right direction of where to to go for shops, restaurnats etc. Our room was big, clean & spacious with 2 x queen size beds, it was warm, the shower was hot & powerful & there was plently of storage. There was a hairdryer, iron & ironing board & tea/coffee making facilities & a TV. All the staff in the hotel that we encountered were very pleasant & helpful, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if & when we visit. The hotel itself is about a 15-20 minute walk into town & the NOTL golf course, the nearest bar is less than 5 minutes walk (The Sandtrap) & serves a great selection of beers & food (see seperate review).

"Nice hotel with super staff"

We have stayed in Niagara on the lake many times in the past but always in bed and breakfast which were always super. We are Best Western members and received a good offer to stay here so we did. We arrived quite early so the room was not ready however, we were booked in by the receptionist and our luggage taken for safe storage while we went down town. When we came back we obtained our key cards and our luggage had been taken to the room. The room was above the reception overlooking the car park, had twin double beds and was quite large for what we were expecting and for what we paid. Nice flat screen TV, air conditioning, coffee machine with plenty of supplies, nice touch of some home baked cookies. Very impressed again. There are communal balconies at the end of the floors which would be lovely to sit in on a summer night with Niagara wine, pity it was late Autumn. Breakfast was continental with some nice added items like make your own waffles which were lovely with the fruit and maple syrup. The breakfast room was a little small but there was no problems with somewhere to sit with the well stocked breakfast bar looked after by a nice lady. Overall a very good value, comfortable hotel with good friendly staff. We would not hesitate to stay there again, Thank you General Best Western.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The location, the friendly staff, the cleanliness and the value can't be beat. We highly recommend the Queen suite with fireplace for an enjoyable couples getaway.

"Best Western - Excellent stay, great value"
LZahar, 18 Novembre 2015

We just stayed the Colonel Butler Inn. The room was spotless and up to date. The bedding was comfortable, the breakfast was great and the hotel has any amenity you need (computer with printer, filtered water, maps, big parking lot). Penny was working both evenings and she is kind and helpful and will help you with any request, including places to eat and things to do. It was dark when we arrived so we chose to drive into the little town but on a nice day you could easily walk.

"The Best Best Western"
Melanie E, 16 Novembre 2015

My husband and I were really impressed with our stay. I was a little disappointed we couldn't get moved to a room with a queen or king bed (because I'm 8 months pregnant), but the room was still beautiful and clean. The breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning. I loved the location of the hotel, with sidewalks for walking to restaurants and shops on Queen St. The staff was great as well. I loved the common balconies on both floors. The fitness room could use some updated equipment and I was surprised that there was no elevator to the second floor.

"30th Anniversary Get Away"
kapsbreeze, 15 Novembre 2015

Thank you for making our 30th Anniversary a very memorable one. Stayed Nov 12 - 15. Our suite was beautiful. Very spacious room, fireplace, King bed, 4 big windows to let light in during the day. Even with the hotel being fully booked Friday and Saturday it was still very quiet. The ladies at the front desk are just great and very helpful. Thank you, we will be back next year!

"Great quality & value - no negatives!"
FairFCM, 11 Novembre 2015

I arrived an hour early, but my room was ready. Patricia at reception was professional, friendly and helpful. My 2nd floor room furnishings looked brand new and the room/bathroom were faultlessly clean. The bed/bedding was wonderful. As it wasn't the greatest weather, I decided on take out from the pub next door for dinner instead of venturing further. The quality of the food was very good, and reasonably priced. As for the walking distance to the centre of town, it should only be an issue for people with mobility issues - in which case, it is a few minutes drive. Oh, and breakfast - more than adequate, lots of choices - even hard boiled eggs and fresh waffles for bigger eaters. Highly recommend.

"Straightforward and comfortable "

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds. And the first place I've stayed at that has also acknowledged our dog with a gift of a toy and treats as well as a doggie bowl and bed. The workout equipment is dated, but the treadmill rocks and there's a water cooler and mats. A fair price for off-season.

"top notch hotel"

The Best Western Colonel Butler Inn, Niagara on the Lake was far one of the best ones that we have stayed at. The friendly staff and comfortable surroundings may it a extreme wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff for a great stay.

"Nice enough!"
Flash2, 02 Novembre 2015

We stayed in a pet friendly room. Nice gift for the dog and dog bed and bowls supplied. Cost is $20.00 per night for the dog! Nothing spectacular about the room. Nice enough and clean! No option other than two double beds so needless to say my husband and I slept in separate beds for our two night stay. Not ideal for a couple who is used to a minimum of a queen size bed. Breakfast was included again okay but not over the top. Standard fare, bagels you toast yourself and serve yourself everything else. Make your own waffles which I don't eat but hubby does. Coffee was good! Had this the first morning and second morning we went to the Ared Rooster restaurant directly across the road. Between the two of us we had a three cheese omelette, potatoes and toast, fried eggs, toast and potatoes and coffee. All for $16.61 and generous helpings too! There was a Tim Horton's across the road too! If I were the hotel I would skip the breakfast and lower the room prices. All in all it cost us $384.00 for two nights which I don't think was reall good value for the location and time of year. Free wifi but it was intermittent in room 102. Room had a fridge, coffee maker and iron and board.

"Very nice place to stay!"
lenoraweikum, 02 Novembre 2015

I had a problem with the booking and the ladies at the front desk sorted it out for me. Just a really nice place!! Highly recommend. Very clean-lights were turned on for us when we arrived back in the evening (nice comfy touch). They offered to keep our luggage since we arrived quite early because of booking confusion. Breakfast was nice -would definitely stay again and the fresh baked cookies were delicious!

"So want to return"
KathleenOrangeCounty, 02 Novembre 2015

My daughter and I stayed one night at this very pleasurable hotel..... pictures are ok.....but in person is so much better.... Stairs only but ask for help with luggage and they are only too happy to help. Staff are terrific...... Patricia answered all of our questions and then some.... While walking the streets in the village, we stumbled across the Ole Angel Inn. An Irish pub with the most excellent menu..... We ordered lamb shank and trimmings....... Awesome.. I forgot to take my umbrella when we left..... so we popped in the next day and found that our server had saved it for me..... We only wish we had more time...... But this excellendt stay only makes us want to return..... And we will.

"Good deal, nice staff"
VanessaL1990, 25 Octobre 2015

Stayed here for two nights for a girls weekend. The room was clean, the staff was very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was tasty and included into the price of the room. I would definitely stay here again next time.

"Excellent Value and location"
Clare S, 25 Octobre 2015

Good location - 10 minute walk into town along residential streets. Excellent value - booked on Hotwire and got great deal. Rooms and bathrooms very clean with all amenities needed. Breakfast included in price - good selection of pastries, muffins, cereals, yogurts, fruit and waffles. Lady serving was very friendly and kept everything well stocked and clean. Check in/out very efficient - receptionist very helpful with directions/a map. Only negative was hotel was REALLY hot in both the rooms and communal areas. Please turn the heating down.

"Good value"

We originally booked our stay at a B&B through Niagara on the Lake Chamber of Commerce. Low and behold, we did not have a reservation there but the Chamber booked us in at the last remaining hotel room at NOTL. It was better than I had anticipated. Our room (101) had a little sitting area with a working fireplace. Room was clean and well cared for. The hotel is old and in need of some updates but overall we were pleased with the service. The included breakfast was very good-weather was great so we ate out on the little porch. The server in the breakfast area was very pleasant, even working on Canada's Thanksgiving Day. The front desk staff were very helpful getting us reservations at the Shaw theater to see 2 productions there. The Inn was too far away from the downtown area for us to walk to but there is a motor scooter rental almost next door and they gave us tips of where to park closer to town for free.

"Colonel Butler Inf"

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good location. Very clean and comfortable room. One drawback - no elevator. However it was only one flight of stairs to our room. So not really a hassle but may be so for older folk.

"Great place to stay"

"A small hotel with warm and friendly staff!"
Andre S, 28 Septembre 2015

We traveled with another couple and spent 3 nights at the Best Western Colonel Inn. It was an excellent location, within walking distance of restaurants, the historical downtown and various parks. Hotel Staff were always friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious. The cost was better than staying at decent hotels located in the historical downtown. The 10 minute walk to the downtown area takes you along beautiful treed streets, historical buildings and beautiful homes. We plan to return to the area again and will definitely stay at this hotel.

"A quaint hotel in an absoulety beautiful town!"
Wendy N, 22 Septembre 2015

After staying several days on the Canadian side of Niagara falls we decided to stay overnight in Niagara-on-the Lake before moving on to Toronto. We picked a Best Western because we are rewards members. This particular hotel is older but very clean and quaint, a nice change from big, contemporary hotels. The staff was welcoming and we were greeted with fresh baked cookies tied with a ribbon. We loved the area and took advantage of the coupons for complimentary wine tasting given to us by the front desk staff. The breakfast was a nice touch and the dining room hostess was very sweet. We hope to visit the area again and will certainly book a room at the Colonel Butler Inn!

"Staff were just wonderful!"
Colette F, 20 Septembre 2015

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and found the staff superb. Penny treated us fantastic. As well the lady in the breakfast room was so sweet and kind and hardworking! All the staff were so helpful offering us help even before we asked for it (opening doors, helping with luggage etc..) We felt so welcome and that we weren't ever bothering anyone when we had a request or a question. The hotel is in a perfect location to walk to downtown. Our room was very comfortable, and clean. The only item that I found weird were the size of the pillows, they weren't full pillows, even though there were three on bed, they weren't comfortable. Kind of square and too puffy. As well we never heard any hallway noise or noise from any other room, or door banging as is common in other hotels. Although our room window looked out on the parking lot of the restaurant/bar beside the hotel and one night a bunch of motorbikes from the bar were revving their bikes for a bit before they finally left. It was only a Tuesday night when this happened so we were worried for the rest of the nights we had planned to be there for that we'd have to deal with this parking lot noise, but on Wed/Thurs and Friday we did not hear any noise. Actually on one night we were the ones making our own share of noise out on the patio and no one came to tell us to quiet down. It was a nice change from other hotels where you can't enjoy yourself a little. We were able to enjoy ourselves at this hotel. We loved the patio areas the hotel had. The hotel had beautiful patio areas on each floor where we loved to take our breakfasts in the morning and finish off in the evening with a glass of wine on the balcony patio area. It was always clean. We would surely stay there again if the opportunity presented itself and would not hesitate to recommend this location anyone we knew who would travel in the area. Kudos to all the staff at this hotel....everyone is doing a fantastic job.
