"A staff worth further investment!"

11/07/2018

This airport hotel is reasonably well located on a relatively quiet area considering its position. The shuttle service works well and undertaken cheerfully by friendly staff. In contrast to the reports of some reviewers, our room was certainly clean, our only concern being the noise from the air-conditioning. The breakfast was very poor in many ways. The seating area and kitchen are alarmingly basic, the cutlery and crockery are cheap plastic and the range of options very limited and of poor quality. This was not expected considering the advertised provision. The strength of the hotel is undoubtedly the staff; management, reception, cleaning, and shuttle each of whom we found very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. They are being sold short by a lack of investment from the company it seemed to us.

"Comfortable stay"

09/07/2018

This hotel has all the basic amenities to make your stay comfortable. Our room is spacious and quiet. The breakfast bar has many choices. My family enjoyed the daily free shuttle service to the Newark Penn station, a convenient way to get to NYC.The staff are polite and nice.

"Reasonable budget hotel "

03/07/2018

Nothing fancy here .... good room but other guests here were rowdy. Comfortable bed and good bathroom clean and well appointed rather a disappointment when it came to breakfast as it was of rather poor quality. Very good shuttle service to and from Newark Penn station but watch the local cab drivers who don't use the mist straightforward routes

"Perfect for one night"

03/07/2018

Arrived from the UK late at night tired and just needing to sleep. The transfers were easy to find, and only takes a few minutes. On arrival at the hotel the staff were friendly and our rooms were very clean and comfortable. As mentioned in other reviews the air conditioner unit is very loud however we took ear plugs and had a great night sleep. Good value, good location, would definitely book again.

"Convenient hotel for cruise ship terminal"

4
01/07/2018

Check in was quick and smooth. They had lemonade in the lobby (unfortunately it had run out but was a nice gesture). Room was absolutely huge. Nice toiletries, big TV, sofa. Comfy bed. Breakfast was included and there was plenty to choose from both hot and cold. Purchased the shuttle trip to the cruise terminal which was $30 - I felt this was a little overpriced for a ten minute trip but was convenient. Would stay again.

"Great place "

This is my second review of this hotel spanning over two years. The cruise and stay package cannot be beat. Food is good, water stations appreciated, and buffet breakfast nice. Restaurant staff is nice. Had three different people at various times. There was a man in the morning who was extra nice. Our room was better this time than last time.

Best W, Manager at Best Western Plus Newark Airport West, responded to this review

Stopped here for a one night stop gap and was very impressed with the hotel and service. Roomnwas very large and clean and comfortable. Staff and from desk were polite and professional. Restaurant onsite was decent and included breakfast was above average as well. Only issue is that there is nothing in the area to do. Also a lot of construction at the time I was there. Uber couldn't even find its way in. We were lucky to get the hotelnto call a special car for us so we didn't miss our concert at NPAC. Great hotel, great staff, not the greatest location.

"Convenient for overnight."

17/06/2018

Huge room and clean. Bathroom needs more lighting and there are no towels hooks. Late night check in need to be reminded to be quiet and respectful. With a 5am wake up call and up at 330am was very rude of guests. Otherwise overnight is good.

"Repeat Visitor"

03/06/2018

This was our third visit to the Best Western Plus Newark. Again, we were not disappointed with our stay. The staff is courteous and most attentive to our needs. The rooms were neat and clean and the free breakfast was most suitable. One note, however, this time we booked through Expedia. Although the room was the same price, we did not receive the complimentary shuttle to the cruise port. I would suggest booking through the hotel direct to see what they have to offer. It's close to the airport and cruise port and the hotel parking was $5 for the 1st day (day of stay) and $8.00/day thereafter.

"Excellent Hotel near EWR"

I was so pleased with everything about my stay at the BW Plus near the Newark Airport...the staff from shuttle drivers to the front desk were wonderful, rooms are spacious and the breakfast was very good.

"Always a great stay"

26/05/2018

Always a great stay, parking and location are a small issue but none the less the service and experience are well worth the stay. We always use the park and cruise service and again it is a first class service. Will stay with this hotel every time I cruise.

"The Best is the West!"

22/05/2018

I have found in the last five or more years that the Best Western Hotels are the most comfortable and cheerful hotels around. They offer many services, little and small and the personnel are very talented at making sure that their customers have the best of travelling experiences.

"Bad location but great staff"

3
21/05/2018

Good hotel overall. Checking in and process fine, no issues. Room very nice and big on 6th floor, coffee and usual supplied. Great internet, no issues anywhere in hotel. Bad location, nothing around and nowhere to go unless you drive. However bar staff pleasant and food was average for hotel bar food. Good check out experience. Overall great place but Location sucks, hence the cheaper price...

"Average Hotel but Convenient"

15/05/2018

I booked this hotel because it was very close to the airport and I got a very good rate. I need to take an early flight and it was the best deal. First of all even though it is at the airport the area surrounding the hotel is nothing to look at. Everything looks dirty and there's crumbling buildings and things of that nature. The hotel can't help this but it definitely takes away from when your first driving up. When you walk into the lobby however it's immaculate and well-designed. Stop is pretty helpful and when you ask the right questions you get a lot of information. We would definitely put in a room that needed either of some updating or just some repairing a lot of the furniture has the veneer scraped off in spots exposing what's underneath. The bed was okay but mine tilted to the side where people normally lay and sheets on the bed you're well worn as compared with the bed my mother slept in looked as if it had new sheets. The handle and the bathroom sink was loose and came off a few times. When we came into the room there was a USB type cord hanging over the top of the television. It was a little things like that. That is what made it average.

"Great hotel"

14/05/2018

This hotel is the best hotel in the Newark location. The staff was incredibly helful, shuttle was perfect! The bar and restaurant was ideal when we checked in. We will stay here everytime we are the newark area. MJ the GM was the best person we delt with when booking our multiple rooms.

"Ok stay if you do not have to use the restroom!"

3
12/05/2018

My first stay at this hotel was 3 years ago; which at that time I had been refunded half of the cost due to a plumbing problem. The second time two years ago wasn't so bad... However, this year, same problem I had the first year which I didn't bother mentioning because no one did anything the first time; I was told to wait until the manager came in the following morning. I didn't want to be told the same thing again; the bed was a little over worn, it's just safe to say it's renovation time. Everything is a little dated now... The survey wouldn't allow me to complete it coming from Best Western so I came here. One more thing to mention, when renovations start, please attack that parking area, it's a hazard if you aren't a good driver. I watched a guy swipe two cars on his way out!

"Stan's Review"

11/05/2018

The airport shuttle was a nice large passenger van. The driver helped with our bags at the airport and hotel. Checkin was perfect. The reservation was in order and we quickly got our room. My phone never got a password prompt so WiFi login failed. I was too tired to care.

"Employees are wonderful but..."

2
11/05/2018

The hotel is very run down and badly in need of renovation and cleaning. Too bad because the employees themselves were some of the best I've encountered in the hotel industry. The restaurant/bar onsite was OK. Shuttle to Jersey Mall was nice.

"Outstanding service!"

09/05/2018

Had a redeye flight into area and arrived at hotel tired and ready for a break. Staff helped us immensely working to find a room ready, even though we were early. Shuttle drivers were prompt and curteous. Staff working the breakfast very attentive . Room was comfortable and clean .Really a good experience. Look forward to staying again.

"Rooms AMAZING! Breakfast NOT SO MUCH!! ROACHES"

4
07/05/2018

The hotel has amazing rooms with nice wood floors, comfortable beds, and are very spacious. It is tucked away on a dead end road near a United Airlines staff parking lot. There is nothing around the hotel, so make sure you do everything before you arrive... no convenience store... restaurants... etc. within walking distance. The free continental breakfast is much to be desired... watered down eggs, waffle maker, potatoes, picked over bread items... THEN we see roaches crawling around the food serving area. One of the employees that works in the area saw the roaches also and tried to act like she didn't see them. Then one of my students pointed it out to other students and she tried to act like she was cleaning the counter to make the roaches scurry away. It was at that point that my group of 15 stopped eating breakfast and we decided to get on our bus and eat elsewhere. The employee did not seemed shocked to see the roaches (as if it were a common occurrence). While I would recommend this hotel based upon room accommodations, I would caution guests about eating in the restaurant.

"Great bang for the buck!"

09/04/2018

This property provided a convenient, relatively inexpensive overnight stay for our family as we prepared to return home. Good value. Nice amenities. Great staff. Super shuttle service - easy and timely. It's not super fancy, but is very well-kept and being right by the airport was very important to us. Yummy breakfast, too.

"Pre-cruise stay"

3
06/04/2018

Stayed this hotel for two nights before cruise. Staffs are friendly. Breakfast was average, cold boiled eggs. Parking is free while stay in the hotel. Free shuttle to train station, but wait more than half hour from train station back to hotel. There is no sign on Hwy 9 to show you the hotel and very easy to miss the turn. If missed the turn, need to circle Newark Airport to Hwy 9.

"Nice Hotel"

4
04/04/2018

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Newark Airport West on April 1st after we returned from Scotland and Ireland. Got in late but the staff at the desk got us checked in very quickly. Decided to get something eat. The food was really very good. Breakfast the next morning was very good also. They had a nice selection to pick from. We would definitely stay here again when we fly out of Newark Airport.

"Not bad for a quick layover"

3
01/04/2018

We visited this hotel on an overnight layover in February. We booked online with a good rate, and it was fine for the price we paid. We landed in terminal C and took the air train (after we found where to go) to P4 where they have the land telephones to dial the hotel for shuttle pick up. We were transferred and checked in quite quickly. We had only booked a basic room but actually got a pretty large suite. Only comment was that the bed was quite squishy and didn't feel quite clean. Maybe it was but the bedding didn't really seem "crisp". The drain also leaked under the bathroom sink - not a big deal but had to lay towels down. We had a late meal at the downstairs restaurant/bar. We were glad to be able to order something to eat as there really isn't anywhere else to go nearby. There were some very interesting female characters in the bar that night in very tight, short, skimpy clothing lol.... You get the drift. The restaurant, bar, shuttle driver and front desk staff were good. We would probably return for a quick layover and a low price.

"Convenient and well-run airport hotel"

5
21/03/2018

Reasonably priced ($109), well-maintained (albeit older) hotel convenient to Newark Airport, with good wifi, OK breakfast, friendly and motivated staff and large rooms. Only (small) negative was the unimaginative selection of beer in the bar but otherwise very good.

"Overnight Stay for Airport"

3
17/03/2018

This hotel is ok for an overnight stay for the airport. They offer airport shuttles free of charge and a free continental breakfast. There is also a cafe on site for lunch and dinner. The rooms were big but the walls were paper thin. Our neighbors were heard all night. The doors offer no relief from noise either. With it being just me and my daughter, I felt a little unsafe due to the location and the loud people around our room. It was ok for one night.

"Horrible experience."

1
08/03/2018

We stayed at this hotel with our young son on March 6 2018. We arrived at 6pm and had to wake up at 3am for an international flight. At 1am the fire alarm went on. We had to wake up with our son get dressed and join the terrified guests going down. The alarm never went off. One of the guests got ahold of someone at front desk and told him it was a false alarm. No word from the administration or even an apology at check out. We had to go back to bed and after that the alarm went on another 2 times. No more sleep for us an a 12 hour flight we had ahead. Because of this our son was extremely nervous at flying and our level of tiredness prevented us from going back to work and school as we had to sleep and it was impossible to drive. We will never stay at this place again and we advise other people to do the same.

"Worst sleep "

2
07/03/2018

I travel alot and went to many hotels all over the world and this is one of the worst night I had (layover before an interoflight from newark). Here's why; -breakfast starts at like 7am (more like 7:10) which is VERY inconvenient for early flyers. I ask for a container or a snack to take to the airport, the employee at the counter said he couldn't help me. -that employee who checked us in was friendly and smiling but sadly lack personal hygiene, it smelled so bad around the entry counter (sounds rude but just being honest) -we checked in at 11pm and left early in the morning and we slept approx. 2hrs. The AC although set to OFF kept opening loudly and we were freezing. -Also, the room is LOUD, construction and big parking around, overall, not relaxing at all. -Room was big and clean. Toilet is minuscule. Wouldn't recommend / stay again

"Stay elsewhere"

1
04/03/2018

Old hotel with extremely poor shuttle service. Called for shuttle, was told 10 minuets. 25 minuets later called again, was told 4-5 minuets. Called again 15 minuets later, was told 3 minuets. Rooms were old and dated.

"Decent hotel, overshadowed by horrible shuttle"

2
22/02/2018

I found myself stuck overnight in Newark after delays caused a missed connection. Since the airport won't let you sleep anywhere, I decided to book this hotel based on reviews. Called the hotel, and the guy told me to take the AirTrain to P4, and he would dispatch the shuttle once I arrived. I got there, called him again, and he said it would be 15-20 minutes. After 45 minutes of watching other hotel shuttles come by multiple times, it still hadn't arrived. Called again, and the front desk guy said it was enroute. After another 15 minutes, it still wasn't there (keep in mind the hotel is 3 miles from the airport, and a 7 minute drive according to google). It finally showed up an hour and 15 minutes after my initial call at 11:45pm. The driver said he was dispatched 11 minutes before picking me up, and hadn't received any calls from the hotel prior. The rooms themselves are very big, and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, and is in the restaurant. Lots of options and everything was kept full. The shuttle ride back to the airport left on time and dropped off at my terminal instead of P4. Management needs to fix whatever communication issues there are, or start running the shuttle every half hour regardless of people calling. There was 4 other groups of people stuck waiting for the shuttle also, all who kept calling, which is completely unacceptable.

This is a hotel to get you through the transition from Libery Airport to NYC. Their van did get us from the airport to the hotel when we arrived a bit late so we appreciate that. Our room was a place to sleep and shower and move on. No complaints about the experience.

"Great hotel for a layover with an early morning flight"

Hotel provides a free shuttle to and from airport. shuttle was very prompt. Room was very nice, bed was comfortably! Bar and restaurants on site. Prices very reasonable and the wraps were good! Would stay here again.

Good value. Great staff and service. Very efficient. Worth noting you must take the airport train if arriving at Newark Penn in order to get to the hotel pick up. Contact in advance for pick from alternative location.

"Our Newark airport go-to hotel needs some work"

3
09/02/2018

At least since 2011 this has been our go-to hotel for staying over the night before early-morning flights and leaving our car. This January our experience was less satisfactory than before; the room had a musty smell, and noise from the hall and surrounding rooms -- including someone's long and loud telephone conversation(s), which in a better-constructed hotel we would not have been able to hear so painfully clearly -- made sleep difficult. Obviously the walls haven't gotten thinner; apparently we simply lucked out before by always having quiet neighbors. But the smell in the room was something new that should be addressed. A few other comments: food is surprisingly decent at the bar/restaurant. The shuttle from hotel to airport -- which should be reserved the night before -- is very convenient and reliable. Getting from airport back to hotel is more complicated, though this is the case with all hotels in the area & a function of how Newark Airport is set up. Essentially, you'll need to take the airport monorail from your arrival terminal to the P4 stop, where you can use a courtesy phone to call the hotel for pickup. One word of caution in this regard: The hotel website now says cars are parked at a neighboring lot (Jiffy), not onsite, and that it's Jeffy's shuttle that will pick you up. I asked about that when we checked in and was told that no, our car would stay onsite -- apparently Jiffy is used for overflow, which is not clear on the website -- and so we needed to call the hotel's shuttle. Presumably the hotel proactively clarifies with guests where their cars will be and which shuttle to call, but if they don't, ASK! Finally, as anyone who's been to Newark Airport or vicinity knows, the highways in the area are insane, with what feels like a gazillion roads merging then splitting off, cloverleafs galore, lanes appearing then disappearing then reappearing, then becoming exit-only, signs sometimes confusing etc. The Best Western Plus is in the heart of this. We take Route 78 E to get there and it's fairly straightforward, but getting to 78 W when we leave is a nail-biter. For many of the reasons cited above, we'll probably give another hotel a try the next time we travel. I'd rather spend a little bit more for a better night's sleep and, with any luck, a slightly less-stressful drive out of the insanity.

10/01/2018

No hot water at the shower. It took 30min to warm up. When I called reception they said "I am just an employee, I cant do something". We were on a connecting flight, had few hours to take a decent shower and sleep and were unable. Premises are terribly old.

"Accomadations greatly updated; issues with shuttle from train station pickup remain"

3
09/01/2018

This property is a tremendous value for a Newark Airport Hotel. The property has been upgraded and it has a very acceptable bar/bistro. Shuttle from the hotel to Newark Airport is prompt. Pick up from the Newark Liberty train station to the hotel s a problem. Even after calling the property and tell the desk staff you are there it takes about an hour with repeated calls back to get someone to pick you up. I got an upgraded room the last time this happened. Yesterday it was treated like a joke. Except for this I would rate it a 4.

"Good location for airport"

3
05/01/2018

Stayed here for one short night with my family. The room was good and as expected. The service at the front desk was a bit abrupt. The location is between lots of parking lots. I cannot see anyone staying here for more than one night or any other reason other than to have easy access to the airport. Tip: There is a free shuttle from the P4 stop on the monorail to the hotel. Tip 2: There is a free shuttle to the terminal (need to book it the night before).

"Dirty wash cloth and smelly room"

2
03/01/2018

First time at this particular Best Western. Normally, the BW front desk greets me acknowledging my rewards member level with an offer of water, points, etc. Not this time. There was no invitation to take a cookie from a nearby container. The sliding doors at the entry were inoperative so I had to maneuver two suitcases to open the side door. The room smelled like a 1970's bowling alley. A wash cloth from a previous guest was on a clothes hanger. The container for facial tissue was empty. It's somewhat expected when I stay at a hotel that something will not be right, but this was quite a chain of issues. This hotel will do if you're on a tight budget, but don't expect a lot. The bed was very bouncy, but I did sleep well (to my surprise).

"breakfast problem"

01/01/2018

on this holidays it was very cold in this ssector about 10-15 degre in the morning but the living room for the breakfast was at only 58 it's very cold to eat in the morning.... on the six floor we were disturb byconstruction at 6H30 in the mornin on the corner. it's not the hotel fault but it's not interesting to ear a Big bulldozer in the other side of your room place.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. Our check-in was quick and easy and the hotel room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was more than we expected and we never had to wait to get a seat.

"A good overnight hotel. 3.5 * for us"

3
28/12/2017

Shuttle pickup- take air train to P4 station/ drop off and then use the courtesy phones to call hotel for free shuttle. Drop off at Newark Penn station - make sure you are in the lobby ahead of scheduled time, free. Jersey garden mall paid shuttle information was very poorly posted - that was disappointing. Rooms spacious - we had 2 double beds with 2 kids in tow. Comfy beds. Buffet breakfast has a good choice. Dinner at the Crooss road cafe - average, the portions are huge. No prices listed in drinks menu - cocktails, wine etc ..??staff were helpful Not a 4 but not a 3* review hence 3.5 Would certainly book there again.

"Excellent!"

27/12/2017

This hotel was excellent for us. We flew into NYC but wanted to stay out of the city. We took the train to Penn Station and they picked us right up the first night and shuttled us back and forth the other days. They took us to the airport the last day to fly home. There were a couple of hiccups here and there but they were corrected immediately and nothing major. The restaurant in the hotel was nice and convenient. The breakfast was very nice also.

21/12/2017

Knew I'd be getting in late after a long flight, so booked to stay here again. It's conveniently near the airport, clean, and includes a larger-than-expected free breakfast buffet. At this price point, I'm not looking for anything extravagant, but the mattress and pillows in the room in which I stayed were extremely comfortable. For that reason alone, I'll continue to book here when I need a good night's sleep before or after a long journey!

I use this hotel whenever I travel to New York City. This hotel offers excellent value; you can visit New York City without busting your budget. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to the train at Newark Penn Station. In less than an hour you can arrive New York City. The hotel is managed in an exemplary manner; all employees are professional and well trained. You will always enjoy your stay .

"Adequate airport hotel, beware of construction noise."

15/12/2017

Booked for an overnight stay after a long overseas flight before continuing on connections the next afternoon. The night check in clerk said we were in a quiet room. Turned out that end of the hotel was right next to construction near the parking lot that woke us up at 6am, when we were hoping for several more hours. Otherwise the general location is similar to all the other airport hotel choices next to the highway, warehouses, parking lots, train tracks, they may all have noise issues. The room amenities are sparse, though the breakfast was very good. The night and day shuttle drivers were prompt and very courteous.

"Brief overnight stay"

14/12/2017

We stayed here for a quick overnight stay on our way out of Newark to the Caymans; it was comfortable and convenient and the staff were great!!! The fan in the bathroom sounded like a jet taking off and the rooms are definitely due for some upgrades in the near future, but overall I would recommend it for an early flight out. Additionally the shuttle to the airport was extremely convenient and made life so much easier

"Bed sheet not change"

2
10/12/2017

We have stayed there on 24Nov for one pre-cruise night stay. We arrived at late evening and assigned for a room with 2 beds. In one of the bed, we found a glasses case under the pillow. So obviously, the bed sheet and pillow case haven't been changed after the last guest check out. It was very late evening , so we just sleep at the other bed and made the complaint to the front deck staff when we check-out in the next morning. But until now, we still didn't get any response from the hotel management in regarding to this.

terrible shuttle service and lies from the hotel...very poorly maintained room....not up to BW standards for sure. Bed lumpy, entrance light switch did not work, defective heating thermostat, bath faucet hanging out from the wall, curtains poorly made and let parking lot light in.

"Ok hotel, good shuttle service"

05/12/2017

This hotel was convenient for us travelling into the city as the hotel offers a free shuttle service to Penn Station and Newark Airport. The rooms were clean but outdated. There are no shops nearby to grab food at night. Whilst the hotel staff were friendly I would not stay here again. On our 3rd night stay we got a call to our hotel room at 1.45am and the person said we needed to provide our credit card details as the payment for the room didn't go through and if we didn't pay we would need to leave the hotel right away as we weren't complying with hotel policy. The person insisted we give the card details over the phone. We hung up and immediately went to reception. The staff member at reception said he did transfer the call to our room but he didn't know it was a scam caller. The staff didn't seem to care at all about this and offered no help as to why the call was transferred to our room in the first place This was really off putting and made the rest of our stay feel very insecure.

1.First the gave room with nonoperational filthy and dirty toilet, it looks they knew the problem when complained and they want to send the plumper to fix !! I refused and then only they replaced with better room (this should not happen in a B.W + hotels... I am surprised) 2. Noise all night and morning. after breakfast (which was good) I couldn't rest because of cleaning and room service noises in the corridors.

"Things that go bump in the night."

04/12/2017

Noisy at night. Something was banging close to the top floor. It sounded like someone was using a hammer off and after 5:00 AM. Train horn close by as well. Generally a decent hotel. Hotel noise at night has been a problem two of three stays.

"Pre-cruise stay "

5
01/12/2017

Clean spacious room. Very nice bar/restaurant. Friendly staff. Free shuttle from airport. Free shuttle to train station. No attractions close by, but nice place for pre cruise stay. Used Uber to cruise port which took us right to the pier

"Free airport shuttle is the only thing to recommend this property."

2
30/11/2017

Called for shuttle twice, after waiting an excessive amount of time. Asked about breakfast to go option, as we were returning to the airport at 5:30 a.m. the clerk said it would be “two snack items and a piece of fruit.” When we arrived for the shuttle in the morning, that changed to muffins and coffee, with no bag or box in which to carry the snack. The room decor is ugly, and there is a sill that separates the bedroom flooring from the bathroom flooring that is high enough to stub your toe on. Shower amenities are in dispensers on the wall that function so poorly that you have to repeatly pump in order to get enough to make it useful. Tile floors in guest rooms make it very noisy below.

"Good Airport hotel"

24/11/2017

We stayed here after landing in the evening at Newark and we were catching an early train in the morning. I called for the shuttle and did have to wait 40 minutes after calling twice. My wife who was on another flight only had to wait 5 minutes. We also booked in at reception for a shuttle back the the airport in the morning. Unfortunately we were just a couple of minutes late and it left without us despite my wife being in the lobby. They didn't let us know they were leaving and this was disappointing. I was just told that we were late so it was our problem and the next one is in half an hour, despite the airport being a 5 min drive away. I understand that they have a schedule to stick to. As we had a train to catch we just booked an uber which was fine. However to my surprise when we went outside the shuttle was parked around the back of the hotel! Surely this could have been handled better. The rooms are very spacious comfortable and clean. Bathroom was also spacious and clean. The breakfast had a large selection of items to choose from including a number of juices. We made waffles which were great! I would say great if you need an airport hotel but there is nothing close by and transport is a little hard to come by so not sure if it would be good for other stays.

Staff was friendly helpful, motel was comfortable and safe feeling. One of those no worries places. great location by Newark Airport. I would recommend this Best Western for business travelers or family vacation time.

"Holiday visit to family"

21/11/2017

A very wonderful experience. Our handicap accessible room was outstanding. The party and fly was safe and very well done by the hotel. We pulled up in front and checked in and the hotel took care of the rest. The staff and the manager were extremely responsive and helpful and more importantly seemed to care about their jobs. Thank you to all for a good stay

"Work related"

If you work requires you to call on clients in Northern New Jersey it is a convenient hotel and location. If you are planning to be in the city of Newark then the Best Western in town is a better choice

"Mostly good, shuttle a nice surprise"

13/11/2017

First, when we tried to check in around 5 pm, one reserved room was ready the other was not. We were at the door when housekeeping said they weren't done and we should come back in an hour. They finally came to get us in our second reserved room where we waited. We were using BW reward cards to help pay for our room, but didn't realize 4 had expired, I though we had another week. The front desk man and I came to an agreement that maybe he could let them go thru since our room wasn't yet ready past check in time. He said he couldn't adjust the expiry date, but had the ability to adjust the nightly rate instead. We were more than satisfied with this compromise. Pedro and his companion on check in night Nov 1 were extremely helpful with subway maps, advice on getting to and from the city and numerous other ways. We also found out that there is a shuttle which delivered us to Penn Newark daily and would pick us up. This made us extremely happy because we thought we'd have to go to the airport or other place to catch the train. This saved us a lot of time and frustration trying to find our way around. The shuttle drivers were careful and delivered us back and forth 4 nights in a row and we were extremely pleased and satisfied. The only negative in our stay was the neighbour between us (304) and the laundry facility. On Thursday night, we were trying to sleep at 11:30 pm and there was so much noise coming from the room. We knew it was them because in the bathroom you could hear everything so much clearer, and the smell of marijuana seemed to seep thru. I called the front desk and they said they would talk to them and let them know the police would be called if it didn't stop. About 15 minutes later it still hadn't stopped. I called the front desk again and it still didn't make a difference. I called again and finally it stopped. Then on Sunday morning, after an obvious night of party, the neighbours came back around 5:30 am and started the party in the room again, with the obvious smell of marijuana seeping thru. The music was so loud it woke 2 of us up, and we wear earplugs. I called the front desk twice, the second time a young man finally came up to tell them to stop. It finally quieted down, but by then our sleep was done. Lastly, as I spoke with the manager today, the charges to our credit card are so messed up. We arrived at 5 pm Nov 1, yet on our credit card the transaction date is Oct 31. Even the snack we had on Nov 5 shows a transaction date of Oct 31. This makes no sense. So while there are definite pros like the shuttle and amazing breakfast in the morning, paper thin walls and doors that slam shut when guests exit, waking up other guests, could be addressed. We also had a hard time finding this place, not being familiar with this area, but the road sign for International Way is so tiny we drove past it twice. Not an easy thing to recover from in the area.

"Great Hotel and Very Friendly Staff"

12/11/2017

We stayed here for a couple of days before we were headed out on our family cruise out of Bayonne. They had a shuttle service take us to the cruise port and pick us up...we went with the "stay and cruise" promotion. There are five of us so it was a great deal in savings. We also toured NYC the day before and they had a complimentary shuttle that took dropped off/picked up at Penn Station NJ.

"Good Airport Hotel"

3
12/11/2017

This hotel is not fancy but it is nice for the price. Our room was clean and quiet, check-in was easy and the transportation from the airport was a nice service. We went to New York City the day after our stay and the hotel van dropped us at Newark Train Station, which was very nice.

"Had a great experience"

5
10/11/2017

this was my first trip to New York and our travel agent suggested staying at Best Western-Newark, NJ. Our experience was very good at the hotel. The room was clean and smokefree. The Breakfast was very good-lots of choices. The staff working there were awesome. We used the shuttle of Newark Penn Station and the shuttle to the Newark airport. Had no problems what so ever and enjoyed talking with the staff. That made our trip memorable!

"Good Option in Newark"

4
10/11/2017

You never know what you're going to get in Newark so it was nice to find a place that was clean and safe. Even though it's near EWR airport (the most difficult area to navigate in the US!) it was easy to get to and leave. Once the construction is done, it will be even better. Having an on-site restaurant is also a bonus in the area.

"Good for a day use"

3
08/11/2017

I had a 12h layover in EWR and since the airport is in almost full renovation, decided to get a room for a day use so i could rest a bit and take a shower. I booked the room in a site that is specialized in day use hotel rooms, which is a very nice option if you have a long layover somewhere or is arriving to early from another city to catch your flight. The hotel offers a shuttle every half hour and you must get the AirTrain to the P4 station and in the ground floor you'll find all the hotels shuttles. Here we have a problem, the shuttle took almost 1h to come! So i used the phone near the door (dial 21 to talk direct to the hotel) and called them like 3 times until the shuttle arrived. When i got to the hotel, the check-in was easy and fast, they offer some coffee and tea, and went to the room, which was a very large one! A bit old and not that clean, but for a day use, ok! The shower is good, the towels could be better and the couch was ripped. So, if you're in some of the conditions above, i recommend this hotel.

"Right place, right time."

08/11/2017

Convienent to Newark Airport. Great rate for the area ($99+tax). Very friendly staff. Parking is tight, but I had no problem. Roads in the area are under construction so make sure you have valid directions (used google maps). Chocolate chip cookies at checkin. Restaurant open late (used it). Nothing fancy, but the food was good and at a reasonable cost.

"Convenient for Cruise Ship"

5
05/11/2017

This is a very convenient hotel if you are going on a cruise. The hotel had shuttle from the airport and also to the cruise ship. It also has a shuttle to the Mills At Jersey Garden Mall for a $25.00 per room fee. They also have a complimentary shuttle to the Penn Train Station. If you wanted to return to the Hotel earlier than 7:00 p.m., they had a charge of $12.50 per room. These shuttles were convenient as there is nowhere to walk close to the hotel. If you wanted to be close within walking distance to restaurants or shopping, this is not a convenient hotel. However, the restaurant at this hotel was very good.

"Disappointed"

04/11/2017

I was referred to this hotel as they have the Stay and Cruise promo. I called in the spring to book this by using the 1-800 number. I confirmed that the price would include my stay, shuttle and parking for the week. It did not. I read another review in which they said it was all included so I don't understand.. I guess staff are not properly trained with the right information. Even in the hotel when checking in i was not advised that I had to sign up for a particular shuttle time and only found out the next day that I needed to do this.

"Nice Hotel - But Avoid Trying to Drive to It"

3
30/10/2017

We stayed here for 1 night before flying out early the next morning. The hotel is large, with two elevators, an on-site bar, an exercise room, but no pool. The staff was helpful and polite. We really liked our room's (#312) floor plan as it included a king bed, a large bathroom, two sinks, a desk, closet, and plenty of outlets to plug in devices. The TV worked well as did the WiFi access. We had to leave early in the morning, so didn't get to sample the breakfast which appeared to be set up in the bar area. Coffee and lemon water was available 24/7 in the lobby area. Unlike most people who probably arrive at the hotel via shuttle, we drove in from the north via the NJ Turnpike and had an adventure finding the place. We literally circled the area for 45 minutes trying to get to the building as the Haynes Ave. exit off Highway 9 is closed for construction. Our GPS naturally took us via the Haynes exit and we ended up in a construction zone's dead-end. Finally, after getting on and off Highways 9 and 78 several times, we stumbled on the right sequence of highway exits, side streets and alleys to arrive at the place. International Way is basically full of paid parking lots so there are no side streets and places to turn off or make U-turns. The driving experience to/from this hotel was very frustrating due to the congestion/traffic and I doubt will improve without a major redesign of the nearby highways, etc. A second consideration is that the Hotel's access is via a single drive way and the building's parking lot has maybe 30 spaces. At night, when the lot gets full, people resort to parking all over the place which makes getting into and out of the packed lot somewhat challenging. Best Western must have given away much of the Hotel's original parking lot, so access for large groups and/or events is severely compromised by the poor parking situation. Most guests that we saw arrived and left via the Hotel's shuttle so they didn't experience the same problems as those poor souls that arrived in their own vehicles. I understand, during times of high occupancy, the Hotel even moves cars to paid lots to clear space up in their own lot. This seems like a crazy business model. Lastly, the Hotel is not close to any restaurants or shopping. Even though we had a car, we grabbed an afternoon snack at a local McDonalds and decided to stay in for the evening rather than trying to navigate this area in the dark. If they could pick up the Hotel and move it to a less congested area, and add a swimming pool, I'd probably give it 5 stars. As is, in its current location with all the nearby construction and gated-off parking lots, I have to consider it average for those with their own transportation. However, if you can rely on the Hotel's airport shuttle and don't need to leave the property to find restaurants, etc., it would be OK for a brief stay.

"Great Stop Off Hotel"

30/10/2017

Friendly & Helpful Staff e.g. the receptionist kindly offered the airport shuttle to take me to another hotel were I was to meet my Trek America the following morning which I really appreciated as it was early start I didnt want to miss my group. The room was spacious and clean with a very comfy bed. The hotel is situated at the airport which is ideal for short stays for stop over flight connections or even longer stays if you are sight seeing New York and prefer a cheaper option to the higher rates of being in busy iconic city. The restaurant within the hotel provides good food and reasonable prices. Overall a great hotel that I may stay at again!

Room 306 - guest for over a week Pros: Large room. Clean room. Very well appointed and all appliances are operational. Air conditioning perfect and adjustable to suit. Very quiet despite close proximity to Newark airport. All staff excellent attitude and helpful. Very good shuttle service but needs to be refined as to pick ups from and to Penn Station which is only escape for guests going to and from New York City. Laundry facilities. Cons: Location is similar to being stranded on an island in the middle of the Pacific. There is no where to walk - no shops - no nothing. Breakfast has a poor variety and not up to scratch - needs attention. Restaurant quality of food appears to be prepared by a kitchen hand rather than someone with basic experience. In fact the quality is a disgrace with patrons use outside takeaway restaurant services. Menu should be reduced or scaled back with basic meals adopted to make it a good money spinner. Bath shower head has come away from the wall and bath plug needs attention. Summary: Would I stay there again? Answer: Yes

"Great stay"

26/10/2017

Had to stay because flight was cancelled. staff very friendly and helpful and assisted us with going into NYC for a tour. Only bad thing was because of the location, there's not really any place convenient to walk to. Parking doesn't look the greatest but we used an airport shuttle so it didn't effect us.

"Pleasantly surprised"

26/10/2017

This is a wonderful Best Western Plus hotel located conveniently near the Newark Airport (EWR) but it's so quiet you would never know it. There's the awesome convenience of a restaurant/bar ON-SITE so everything is right there at your fingertips!. The ample dinner menu met my picky digestive needs with ready substitutions and the breakfast buffet was SUPERB! The staff was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this BW Plus for your next stay in Newark.

"Pleasantly surprised!"

24/10/2017

I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the room. It was very spacious and included a fridge and microwave. I also like the fact that they cleaned the remote and put it in a little sanitary bag. I enjoyed the hot breakfast! My only complaints all that I wish they had some hooks in the bathroom to hang the wet towels and also the surrounding area is very congested for driving. But overall I had a pleasant experience and the staff was great so I would recommend it.

"Grim"

23/10/2017

Yes it is convenient to the airport and yes there is a shuttle but the hotel itself was not worth it for us. The colors of the interior all all in shades of brown to hide things that should not be seen. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small and the same color scheme makes it seem dingy. My major complaint was a bed. it was extremely soft. In all the hundreds of nights we have sent in hotels around the word this bed was by far the worst. My back is still paying the price. The breakfast was awful. The scrambled eggs were dried out and burned and the coffee was terrible. There must be better choices

"Very Nice"

5
18/10/2017

An older hotel but very nice and clean....room was really big. . The hotel provided a shuttle to the airport and area restaurants. Also to Newark Penn Station if you want to go in to NYC. When you return to Penn Station they will pick you up, just call them. We will be staying there next time we are in Newark. And the price is great.

"Friendly and Handy"

5
16/10/2017

We spent one night in this quiet, clean, well-kept motel. The staff, especially MJ were very helpful. The breakfast was very good and offered a variety of food. Since their restaurant is only open evenings, we ate lunch at a neighboring motel. MJ picked us up and brought us up in his Lexus and brought us back. The neighborhood is industrial. The shuttle ride the next morning took about 10 minutes to get to the airport.

"Good location for Cape Liberty cruises/Newark airport"

4
12/10/2017

Chose this BW because of location. Provided transportation from airport & had package available to provide transportation to cruise ship. Free breakfast was very good & Lounge/bar food better than expected. This is an older hotel & no scenic views surround it but can't beat convenience. Staff were very helpful too.

"Great value near NYC"

5
11/10/2017

This hotel might not impress much from the outside as you drive up, but it's very clean inside and all staff we encountered were extremely helpful. They offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, to Newark Penn Station, and to connect with Greyline Bus Tours of NYC. Desk staff helped us with early check out by providing a grab and go breakfast, storing luggage and then delivering it to us at the airport later that afternoon. We slept well, enjoyed the breakfasts, and appreciated the convenience of being near NYC without paying Manhattan prices. We would stay here again because of helpful staff.

"Good for Our Purpose"

3
10/10/2017

We needed a night in a room near the airport to begin a 10 day driving tour of New England in a rental car. The hotel was reasonably easy to find at night, with our GPS. The room was very large, but the TV didn't work and a light bulb was out, the rooms are quite dark. It was late, and the desk clerk could not get away, so we called back and said, don't worry, we're going to sleep. He discounted our room the next morning. Nice touch! We had booked for the night we returned to fly home, 11 days later. We kept the reservation, because though there are quirks, (dark, strange location) there are perks: restaurant on-site, for late night meals, with good basic menu, shuttle, with helpful driver, courteous and helpful staff. The second nights stay the room was even MORE spacious with a sitting area, (the TV worked and all of the lights worked) but it was still a dark room and a little bit AC musty smelling.

"Perfect for Park and Cruise folks. Almost same pruice as pkg at Terminal"

5
09/10/2017

We were on a cruise from Bayonne NJ (Cape Liberty) and though we only live 90 minutes away, we want to get on ship early and avoid traffic in the morning. The parking at the Cruise Terminal is $20/day and were were on a 10 day 9 night cruise, so pkng would be between $180 and $200. Best Western offers a stay and cruise pkg for $201 incl taxes and pkg and breakfast and shuttle to cruise port BOTH ways. so we used it. The hotel is not near anything – except a Wyndham that has an all day restaurant. BW has a bar that opens at 5pm. But it was easy walk to Wyndham. BW parks your car off site and it has it waiting for you when you return. So great value for those driving. Not sure best for those flying in, but still good. They do have 2 shuttle vans. We would definitely stay again if we cruise from Cape Liberty.

We were late getting to the airport but called hotel didn't expect to get a shuttle but they sent one (waited a while but were thankful. Man at desk was very good at explain how to get to where the shuttles come. Also had a great shuttle to cruise terminal breakfast was great. Room was very nice.

"Terrible hotel"

1
03/10/2017

This is the worst Best western plus hotel I have ever been inside. The wallpaper is coming off the wall in several areas of the room. Bathtub has faucets at one end and drain at the other! Where do you put your bum? Amenities on the wall empty.Toilet caked with dirt on wall, floor and around the base, alk black. Carpet is filthy also. Breakfast limited, turkey bacon burned. I told the manager of our experience he offered better for Next Time. No thanks! I won't be back.

"Better than expected"

29/09/2017

Room was clean and attractive. Comfy, king-sized bed, microwave and fridge. The remote control was in a "clean pouch". No complaints with the bedroom. The bathroom was somewhat dated but everything worked. They need to update the size and number of toiletries. We had a very early flight so we missed breakfast. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. We received a wakeup call on the dot and the shuttle van was punctual. Good value hotel. We would stay again.

25/09/2017

This is a good hotel badly run. I had a day use of this hotel and the room was great and the breakfast good enough and the internet was working. That's all that I can be positive about. The shuttle was late, I spent 45 mins waiting for it. Room was not ready to my (late) arrival. No apologizes.

The staff was not friendly and unprofessional. No one seemed to know what was going on. Our Room had an odor to it. I will never stay at this hotel again. The parking is horrible. once the parking lot is filled you are on your own.

"not a PLUS"

1
17/09/2017

this hotel falls far short in every dimension of a BW hotel, let alone a PLUS. Old mattresses, old linens, hard towels, curtains smaller than the windows, dirty bathroom, bad plumbing, no bottled water on the premises.

"Great place to stay if you are going on a cruise"

15/09/2017

We were going on a cruise and this hotel was close to the port. The room was large and the bathroom clean. They also have breakfast included with the stay. Overall if I needed to stay in Newark, NJ I would be happy to stay at this hotel

good hotel close to NYC for half the price just remember this hotel is next to an airport and industrial area there is nothing to do unless you go into NYC they have a complimentry shuttle to newark penn station and for 2.25 you can take the train to world trade centre

"Handy for the airport "

4
09/09/2017

The location of the hotel is great for the airport. As we stayed for one night before catching a flight. Our room was just what we expected and needed. The shuttle bus service worked very well. Our only issue was trying to locate the hotel travelling by car. The road network around Newark airport is a nightmare and very easy to miss a turn.

"Great Service; Helpful Staff; So Convenient to Airport"

09/09/2017

Staff went out of their way to get us an "early arrival" room. Later staff helped prepare early (very!) morning coffee. Shuttle driver was informative and very helpful. Shuttle service makes this an outstanding place to stay if flying in/out of Newark.

First the negative. I arrived late at night, and there was a training snafu that prevented the clerk from being there. There was also an issue where we didn't get the room that we expected. The positive - When I brought this to the attention of Ms. Joselyn the manager, she listened to my concerns, sincerely apologized and made things right. She was an absolute professional. Sometimes things don't go as planned, but having a manager like her negated what might have been a bad experience. I travel a lot and can honestly say that best western is really lucky to have her. Other positives included the delicious breakfast and the overall value/price of the hotel.

We stayed here the night before our flight from Newark and when we returned to Newark. The shuttle was very prompt and helpful. We left our car there for the duration of our trip and requested that it be brought to the parking lot the night we returned so we could pack at our leisure. As for the hotel itself, we heard a lot of hallway noise that appeared to be the hotel staff. The walls weren't the problem but the door let a lot of noise into the room. The room was clean and somewhat updated. We ordered room service from the onsite restaurant and the food was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast in the morning was typical food and at times the seating area was full to capacity. The staff overall was very polite and attentive.

Loved that they housed your vehicle and took you to the Liberty Dock for the cruises and the Newark Airport - very accommodating and a perfect place for all concerned. We actually live in Manhattan and the breakfast was so good - a nice hot breakfast with plenty - so we extended our vacation by staying there the night before. I suggest you do the same.

"Not a Best western Plus Hotel"

Let me start with the good reviews ; 1. Breakfast is loaded, they offer a lot of choices . Breakfast attendant was friendly ( forgot her name ) . 2. Wifi, air conditioner, water temperature and TV channel line up were all fine. 3. Our check out time was extended for another hour. Not so favorable reviews : 1. Parking lot is tight. I am driving a van and it was really difficult for me to squeeze in to a parking spot. 2. Hotel is located at the end of a street. Most of the time it was a pain getting into Route 1 & 9 ( main road to EWR Airport ) which for some reason always has a bumper to bumper traffic. 3. Our room's view is terrible , you can't see nothing but dirt and trash on the street. 4. The carpet in the room needs to be replaced , it was sticky and had a lot of stains. 5. The hotel front desk looks more like the ticket counter of a Greyhound bus station. 6. Most of the time there was nobody at the front desk . if ever there was someone that person doesn't like to be bothered.

"Worst customer service"

We have stayed at Best Western Hotels many times over the past few years and have always had a pleasant experience....until last month. In July 2017, we stayed at the Best Western Newark Hotel as we were leaving for a cruise the next morning. Our hotel package included a one night stay at the hotel and leaving our car for a week on the hotel's property. When we went to check out and give our car key fob to the attendant on duty, she started screaming and yelling at my husband that we did not have the proper paperwork completed. I hurriedly filled out the paperwork for the second time. We went out to get the van to take us to the dock only to find out that they left without us. Another attendant did call the van and he returned to the hotel for us. When we returned the following week to pick up our car, the key fob could not be located for over a half hour. The parking attendant brought out the container which had all the car keys in it and ours was not there. Eventually, it was found but without any identification on it. Very stressful way to begin and end our vacation.

The place is in a sketchy area and was hard to find. Parking is very difficult. The hotel is dated. When I got to the front desk, I had to wait 15 minutes for the front desk person to show up. I ran into another guest who had the same problem. Additionally, they didn't have the room that I booked, and was given a room with a smaller bed. As an added bonus, the room had a musty smell. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at many. ***BEWARE ***

"Spacious rooms"

23/08/2017

Flight cancellation resulted in an unplanned overnight stay at Newark airport. The room was large and comfortably furnished. Bathroom had an extremely noisy vent that ran continuously when light was on. Location is in a parking lot far away from any restaurant options. The small cafe within hotel was ok. We needed a room on short notice and the Best Western met our needs for the night.

"Nice!! Never judge a book by it's cover!"

22/08/2017

I guess as the hotel is an airport hotel, though it's not too close to the airport, I felt like the area was industrial. However upon entering the hotel I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice hotel, clean and quiet. Very jovial and genuinely helpful guys behind the desk, very approachable. They took us to the Mall and said they'd pick us up whenever we were ready, no matter how late!! Really cool guys. The room was very clean and comfortable. I was very happy with breakfast. Very good and timely drive to the cruise ship. Nice hotel...try it out.

"Great stopover spot."

We routinely use this hotel as a place to stop on our way to upstate NY. It is convenient to both the airport and the trains. The place is quiet, clean and user friendly. We recommend this hotel for the reasons stated above..

"Great oasis at the end of a long flight"

The room is very comfortable, the front desk is efficent at check in and checkout, and the restaurant is quite good for all meals. Service good and timely. Very safe parking lot. I shall continue to stay there when I fly into Newark.

"Management Oversight Lacking"

3
10/08/2017

We checked in very late (2:00am). We spoke to the 2 fellows manning the night desk about late check out. They said "no problem, we'll make a note of it." The following morning, the fella with the clipboard (presumption is that he's the housekeeping manager) badgered us about why we were checking out late: "Don't you know you have a checkout time?" We explained what went on early that morning (2:00am check in). He was having none of it and continued to imply that we were causing him a great and serious problem with our check out 1-hour late. Hotel operations are still a HOSPITALITY industry are they not? You should counsel this man about his attitude. Don't think we'll be returning to BW Newark any time soon.

"nice place except for parking"

4
07/08/2017

Stayed here one night, the Motel is fine except if you drove you own vehicle there. When I arrived it took several attempts to find parking, I ended up having to wait for someone to leave to find a space. Parking here is extremely tight and difficult to maneuver.

"Good hotel for the price"

3
03/08/2017

Nice hotel, breakfast was especially good. The hotel was clean, the staff was nice, it was priced alright. It's in kind of a rough area of town but the hotel is under surveillance and there really was nothing to worry about. The hotel room we stayed in had almost no storage and only one hook in the bathroom. We couldn't even hang our hand towel. We had to store our stuff on the only two little tables that were in the room. We were in the room for 5 nights and it made it very hard to relax around so much clutter.

"Good Size room...rude staff...bed bathroom"

3
02/08/2017

First of all good things, room was big enough for 4 adults with 2 queen beds. Location also good with shuttle to EWR and Newark Penn Station. Now not so good things, On day (we stayed 2 nights) we checked-in when we entered Bathroom, it was stinking bad. Someone (hotel staff most likely) had left WC seat uncleaned and there was dirty tissues in waste bin after someone done there “business”. When I reported this to font desk, they were very casual about and asked me to talk to manager next morning when she comes. Manager was comparatively courteous to apologies & assured action. Front Desk staff during Morning (both days) are very rude. Stayed from 07/27 - 07/29

"BED BUGS!!!!!"

1
01/08/2017

I left with bed bug rashes up and down my legs with new ones popping up daily. The room was old and outdated. The bathroom walls had black mold growing on its grout. The mattress was too soft and the sheets felt worn and old.

31/07/2017

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Very convenient to the port for our traveling. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the dining area clean and comfortable. The only problem I had was with a rude shuttle driver. Otherwise a wonderful experience. Have stayed in the past and will return!

"Best Western "Blah" Hotel"

2
31/07/2017

This hotel is dark and dingy. If your room is on the 6th floor make sure they tell you which elevator goes to the 6th floor. There is only one. If you need fast, reliable internet this may not be the hotel for you. Don't expect fresh food at their restaurant I felt like everything came from frozen. Very limited wine selection. Very low energy personnel.

"New York fun"

4
26/07/2017

This hotel is a little hard to find, but that's because of construction around it. We enjoyed our two night stay here. The room was clean and big. We had breakfast on both days and it was a nice selection. The lobby has different sitting areas and offers lemonade and cookies. This hotel also offers a free shuttle to the airport and to The New Jersey Penn Station. We used both and were happy with those services. They do have limited hours with the shuttle, so after 11 pm you would need Uber from Penn Station. I believe the airport shuttle is 24 hours. Besides a very small inconvenience of using Uber ( after hours) and the bathtub being a little slippery, this place was great. The staff was friendly and helpful with advice. I would happily return again when visiting NYC.

Spent the night and was flying out the next morning while leaving the car for little over week on a park and fly package. Room was clean and comfortable. Average, but nothing to get excited about. The small bar and restaurant was very good. I would have given a higher rating except on our return there was a problem with the shuttle pickup from the airport. I had my car receipt and directions on how to contact the hotel for the shuttle. I made the call and the desk stated the shuttle would be right there. That never happened. It's a ten minute ride to the hotel from the airport. After watching every other hotel in the area make two trips another Best Western hotel driver decided to help us even though it was not his hotel. Well he was generously tipped for this. There were four guests waiting for a shuttle that never came. By the way the shuttle was in the parking lot.

"Horrible Hospitality"

19/07/2017

I stayed at 4 different Best Westerns during my trip up North. This hotel about made me lose my mind. They tell you one thing then charge you another. I had an argument bust out in front of me between staff which was really uncomfortable. The driver who has long braids in his hair for the shuttle service was VERY RUDE and the way he spoke was very unwelcoming. I never want to go back to this city in my life.

"Good accommodations -- helpful staff"

16/07/2017

Staff was extremely helpful, professional and pleasant. Good breakfast bar with several selections. Our room was clean and spacious. The high speed internet was alittle difficult at times. The staff was helpful in giving us directions in our stay while attending the US Women's Open Golf Tournament in Bedminster. Price was competitive for the area. Free shuttle to and from Newark airport and Newark Penn Station. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to potential customers.

"Worst service ever experienced"

1
14/07/2017

First of all our reservation was incorrect, and rather than trying to help solve the problem the staff member asked my husband to show us the confirmation email and prove that it was wrong. This was more of a problem because despite my spelling out my email address half a dozen times when I made the reservation the employee spelled it incorrectly and I never received a confirmation email. The room we were given reeked of cabbage, the bed was wobbly and the mattress needed to be trashed. The shuttle service to and from the airport was slow and does not run on the schedule they advertise, and they don't pick you up "in 5 minutes" as they stated when I called to ask. Only positive is that the housekeeping crew is polite. The front desk staff are not.

"Quick 1 Night Stay"

4
11/07/2017

Upon entering the hotel i was greeted with an extremely small parking area with little to no parking spots except for one tiny space by a shuttle. The check in process was fast and easy and the staff was pretty nice. The room was clean and spacious but the a/c randomly turns off at night so you wake up to a 80 degree room. The bathroom was a little tight but clean overall. I wish the shower head wasn't so low and actually sprayed with power and they only provided 3 wash clothes which is an odd amount. The breakfast was decent and food was warm and abundant. The one thing i hated the most about my stay is how long it takes for the elevator to reach you. There is 2 elevators and i was waiting for 5 minutes for one to finally reach my floor. Overall if you are looking for a quick cheap hotel to stay at before your flight i do recommend this hotel.

"Nice hotel comfortable rooms"

4
10/07/2017

We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious, there was an onsite restaurant and they provided free breakfast ( eggs, bacon sausage, cereal, juices, waffles, rolls, fruit etc..) . Parking was free although the online booking site noted there was a charge for parking. The restaurant prices were reasonable. The beds were comfortable. We took the train into New York, a 20 minute ride. There were only two items that I note, the parking lot at the hotel is very small and we were concerned we would not find a spot to park, but we didn't have an issue. In the bathroom, when you turn on the light, there is a loud fan that automatically comes on and there is no way to turn it off so you can't hear the TV once you go into the bathroom. Other than those two issues it was a wonderful experience. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

"If you want some else's underwear stay here"

1
27/06/2017

Our first room had a pair of some else's underwear left in the room, I'd say house keeping really does there job. We were switched to a different room, there were stains on the decorative pillows. Nice huh, too bad other hotels were booked in the area. Did receive a discount off the room, nice of them. Very noisy at night either vacuum or work being done in hallway. Room was hot, curtains blocked a/c. Also left an item there by mistake, of course they have not been helpful in retrieving it, there attitude is OH Well. Front desk upon check in was extremely friendly and nice, especially when I went to ask if it was customary to find underwear.

"Ideal for a Stopover"

5
26/06/2017

Location: the hotel is located close to Newark Airport – indeed we could see the hotel siting on our ‘plane at the terminal waiting to push back! The area is mainly commuter and airport car parking; not somewhere to go walking. Transfer: on arrival take the free sky train to P4 where there is a telephone to call the hotel and arrange to be picked up – ten minutes or so. Returning, you are dropped at the terminal. Rooms: we had a large room featuring two huge, comfortable, double beds and a Jacuzzi! The room was so good we wished we were staying longer than the one night stopover. Food: there is a bar/restaurant which opens at 4.30 with an adequate selection of fast food type items – well-cooked and of good size! The buffet breakfast was fine. Staff: friendly and helpful; they will print your boarding passes if you e-mail them to the front desk.

"Neither or Not"

3
26/06/2017

The hotel is nice and clean but the front desk they are not guest accommodating. I know the hotel is a franchise at least even you put you family member they must know how to treat guest when they arrived at check-in so they come back in the future. I know the feeling when a guest is not satisfied because I work in Omni Mount Washington Resort Hotel at the front desk also. The only I like the employee who works in the breakfast lounge they friendly.

"Easy airport travel "

4
24/06/2017

We stayed on a stopover between Colorado Springs and London. Quick pick up from airport on arrival. The hotel is clean and comfortable. We went into New York via the hotel bus to Penn Station and returned the same way. Very convenient and would certainly use this hotel again for this service. Our stay was efficient and comfortable. Breakfast was constantly being refreshed and cleaned.

"Better options in same price range"

3
22/06/2017

Very difficult location to access. Decent breakfast, close to airport. No food around hotel. Very hard location to exit and merge in the morning. I would not suggest this hotel as there are other better options very close by in the same price range.

"TAXES TAXES TAXES"

4
20/06/2017

I had a 12 hour layover at EWR (Newark) while returning from BON (Bonaire) to IAH (Houston). I must say I thought that the hotel was good to very good. It had a restaurant associated with it that stayed open until 11:00. This was good since from what I could see there were NO restaurants anywhere close to this place, so they had a very captive audience. What annoyed me was the approximant 20% tax added to my already high hotel bill. Consider this when making travel plans and using those FREE United travel miles for your next vacation. Just sayin! ONE last comment, leave extra time when passing through EWR. Their TSA is the worst I have seen in the United States. Rude, lazy and arrogant, describes them best. And I thought IAH was bad.

"Excellent Overnight Stay!"

12/06/2017

Stephanie was great! When I called for early checkout she agreed to try to get it for us. When we arrived, she immediately assigned us a great corner room and we got comfortable immediately. (That saved 3 hours of hanging around in the lobby.) The men at the desk were very helpful also. One of them even printed out our boarding pass for our trip. The woman who ran the breakfast was absolutely wonderful! When I could only find rotten bananas, she took the time to find one that was a little better. And the afternoon before, we went to the restaurant to see the menu. There was no one there, but she was starting to clean the area. She went out of her way to fetch us a menu so we could decide if we wanted to eat there. We did end up eating dinner at the restaurant and it was fine. The driver of the shuttle was terrific too; he assisted my daughter with her child with the luggage on arrival day, and the next day, assisted us.Thank you!

Stayed two nights for the conference and bedroom stink with cigarette smell. After the stay, the hotel over charged me of more than $300 for no reason. "Stay and Cruise package not worth the price."

3
29/05/2017

My husband and I purchased a rather expensive stay and cruise package for the day before our cruise in order to avoid any transportation problems. This hotel was located in a back section of the highway and needed more or larger signage to help locate it. We arrived in a downpour, got drenched while unloading luggage from our car (no help was offered) and the hotel was as dark and dismal as the day. The personnel was bright, however, and very cheerfully told us we'd have to wait a while before being allowed to enter and dry out in the room we'd reserved almost two weeks earlier. There was hot water and a variety of teas as well as coffee, lemonade and chocolate chip cookies to munch while waiting for our room if you didn't mind sitting in a poorly lit air-conditioned lobby in rain-wet clothing while doing so. The room itself, when we finally were allowed to access it was satisfactory. A framed print of the famous "eye" stairwell from the movie "Now You See Me 2" in our room, we took as a sign of a magical vacation to come. The hotel arranged for us to be shuttled to a neighboring hotel for lunch as apparently, we arrived in between Best Western mealtimes. (The food at that hotel was "old," including the "freshly" cooked french fries but that's for a different review). The Best Western buffet breakfast the following morning, although not finger-licking good, was unlimited and edible. Scrambled eggs, sausages, a few choices of fruit and a waffle maker were on the menu as well as a variety of teas and coffee, although a trip to the front desk was required to get someone to "fix" the decaf machine which was only producing hot water. The ride over to the cruise ship was with the same personable driver who had initially transported us to and from the neighboring hotel for lunch and was fine and we DID get help with our luggage at that time. The real problem came when we returned from our cruise and attempted to use the cab voucher we were given as part of our package to return us to the hotel. None of the cabs, vans or cars available wanted to accept it, and we were forced to wait over 45 minutes outside seated on a stone divider while everyone from the ship paying cash for transportation was whisked away immediately. When we questioned how much longer we'd be required to wait we were told we were supposedly waiting for other people with vouchers to arrive, and the only option was if we were willing to pay a cash price of $20 per person/$40 total over and above what we'd already paid for the package which included the voucher. Only after we called Dispatch and complained, were we allowed to sit in the semi-comfort of a vehicle and ONLY after it was determined there were no more passengers from the ship forthcoming, were we finally driven back to the hotel by a disgruntled driver who was not only unfamiliar with the area and had to program his GPS but wove through traffic in a decidedly unsafe manner. This final part of our Best Western stay and cruise package was the absolute worst part of a rather indifferent package as a whole, and when we considered that we paid almost twice as much as the regular room fee, reached the conclusion it was definitely not worth the money. If we ever cruise out of Bayonne in the future, we'll select a different hotel and suggest the same to those we know.

I stayed here before and remembered their Cruise Special. One price for room/shuttle to and from airport, waterport, and back to airport. This place has been redone from the last time, and is absolutely clean and spotless. Beautiful lobby, wonderful free breakfast (hot and cold), and the rooms are large, and comfy. The young folks there are professional and courtious.

"Surprisingly good hotel in bad neighborhood"

4
21/05/2017

aving chosen Best Western Plus hotel at Newark airport I hoped that there is a good possibility to get downtown from the train station nearby, but unfortunately there is no direct access to it from the hotel. The only good option is to take a shuttle back to the airport and get back there by airtrain. Unfortunately the area near the hotel isn't the safest one, so locals do not recommend walking there by yourself. Apart from that the hotel offers fine spacious rooms. The complimentary continental breakfast is OK, but don't expect champagne to be served :)

"Night Before Flight"

5
12/05/2017

Stayed here the night before catching an early morning flight. Hotel lived up to my expectations. I was picked up promptly at the airport by a very nice young man and brought to the hotel. When I checked in I made a reservation for the airport shuttle to take me back to the airport for my early morning flight. The room was basic but very large and comfortable. Very clean. I left early so could not enjoy the breakfast. They did put out a grab and go breakfast for us early people. I grabbed a few muffins and left. I did have dinner there the night before. Dinner was fine. Would stay here again if the need arose.

Great place to leave your car when traveling on a cruise ship. The shuttle was good and the ability to park ones car there while traveling to a cruise destination was great (and less expensive than parking at the wharf).

"Friendly Staff, Clean Hotel"

08/05/2017

My teenage daughter and I flew into Newark to attend a concert at the Prudential Center. The complimentary shuttle service was wonderful to have access to. They picked us up from the airport, to the Prudential Center and back, and then for our return flight a couple of days later. Breakfast was good, the bar/restaurant was slow, but turned out good food. The hotel room was clean and spacious. Overall, I would stay here again.

"pre cruise"

07/05/2017

We stayed the night before our cruise. The hotel offered a park and cruise option that was convenient for us. The bar and restaurant were good and the free breakfast was a plus. The staff was friendly and professional and I would stay here again.

"Breakfast Belma"

21/04/2017

Staying at this Best Western for work my schedule doesn't allow me to make it back in time for the breakfast. Your breakfast clerk Belma saved me a plate the other day which I felt was above and beyond her duties. I felt important by her thoughtfulness and ability to understand my schedule confliction. The other staff members are very good also.

"Cruise and short New york break"

14/04/2017

We have just returned to the uk from Newark and a cruise to the Bahamas, the hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were very friendly, the manager was also very helpful to us when I wanted to pay in cash for our stay after the cruise before hand. He also stored our cases safely when we returned from the cruise on sunday allowing us to go off into New York for the day. having booked 2 rooms for a total of 5 nights each, 2 before the cruise and 3 after, I couldn't understand why we didn't qualify for the free shuttle to the cruise terminal , I chose this hotel because it offered a free shuttle on booking.com, yet we didn't qualify, this resulted in $140 in taxi fares, so beware travellers on booking for this reason, you may get stung. The receptionist just said , sorry you don't qualify.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for your review. To utilize our transfer to the cape liberty cruise port you must book the sleep and cruise package we offer. "Pleasant 1 Night Stay"

11/04/2017

My son stayed here back in Jan '17 and had a positive night stay so I decided to stay over night before driving on to Pennsylvania. The front desk staff was very nice/pleasant. The hotel shuttle was waiting outside the pick up area at Newark Airport and it was a very quick ride to the hotel. The front desk was welcoming when we checked in @ 10:00pm on a Thursday night. The rooms was clean and very spacious.. The beds were soft and there were clean linens - great pillows. The bathtub/shower was quite high (and I am short) so had to hold on getting in/out- Ample towels. We had a quick late dinner at the restaurant in the hotel that was open till 11pm. Also had a nice breakfast buffet the next morning in the same restaurant prior to leaving. The gal who set up the breakfast was very nice and wanted everyone to be happy- which we were. Would definately recommend this hotel and I would definately stay here again if/when I am in the area. Keep up the good job.

"Good location,tired hotel"

3
11/04/2017

It was quick and easy to get to the hotel after 12 hours of flying, however the hotel is tired and needs some repairs to bring it up to standard. The staff were adequate but not overly friendly. Reasonable breakfast if you can fit it around your schedule.

"Busy and Run Down, but Affordable."

3
06/04/2017

Had a difficult time catching shuttle, which set bad tone for (one night) stay. Bedsheets stained and with holes, not impressive. Towels also worn out. Request for replacement was quickly addressed. Most hardware (power outlets) in bad shape, making phone/tablet charging difficult.

"Nice hotel near the Airport"

4
04/04/2017

Nice hotel near the airport with airport shuttle. Got some good sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay again! The only downside was that it was in a bad part of town and we felt unsafe driving near the property. But the hotel itself was isolated from the surrounding area with train tracks and fences, etc.

"Shuttle took ages to turn up"

3
31/03/2017

This hotel offers a free shuttle from Newark Airport but one has to ring up the hotel for it to turn up. I rang the hotel when I got to the P4 station at the airport and was told the shuttle would be there straight away. However, it took over 40 minutes to turn up, which is astonishing as the hotel is only about a 7 minutes' drive away. The hotel is all right but the internet connection in the room was unreliable and kept dropping. One of the net curtains in the room was missing and the hand soap and the shower gel dispensers in the room were both empty. The only positive thing was the free breakfast and the shuttle to Newark Penn station.

"Great place to stay before heading out on your cruise"

5
29/11/2016

Easy to reach, friendly staff, clean, modern rooms, nice lounge with good food and drink, shuttle service to and from cruise terminal, long term parking , all for a very good price. This is our third stay here and recommend this Best Western.

"Great Place to Stay Before a Flight"

4
28/11/2016

Booked this sight unseen for an overnight stay prior to a morning flight out of Newark. Was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and size of the rooms. We utilized the stay and park option, which was well worth the additional $70 for the week. It was only a 5 minute ride to the airport with the hotel shuttle. The only glitch that keeps this from an excellent rating is I was told my receipts would be emailed to me. That was 2.5 weeks ago. I'm still waiting. Also, my rewards points were not applied to my account. I brought this to the attention of Mr. Joshi, the General Manager, a week ago, with no response.

"The promo photo is MISLEADING!"

22/11/2016

WOW!! A BEST WESTERN PLUS on a dead-end street with a most unwelcoming entrance that would really scare even the elite of NASCAR...a 90 degree narrow entrance to the front....NO THE REAR....no the side of a "PLUS" property that looks as though Best Western bought this property as the very last small-very small piece of real estate left near the airport. The building itself newer and pleasingly decorated with soothing colors-clean and comforting...but just too damned cramped to really allow one to relax. The room clean, modern tastefully decorated, and relaxing but the view out-the window an adjacent vacant taller building not 30 feet across from your window to look at....NOT REAL PLEASING--LIKE YOU ARE IN A JAIL CELL!! Breakfast mediocre-fair...BUT parking is/was FREE....A REAL PLUS. The price a tad bit more than the overall experience.

"Nice rooms"

3
20/11/2016

Staff and parking were terrible. Staff not friendly at all. When asked a question they dismiss you. The parking is a joke. I've never seen anything like it. The rooms are very nice. Odd shower/bath combo. Refrigerator froze everything!

"Convenient stay for early flight "

4
14/11/2016

We stayed here the night before our 8am flight to Hawaii. Very clean hotel. Nicely kept and updated! Our room was very large, I think we may have had the ADA room. But we booked a room with the King bed. We had a couch, large TV, microwave, and mini fridge. The only drawback was printing your boarding passes, the business center did not have a working printer. We had to email the information to the front desk and they couldn't get it. We went back to our room twice to try and resend. Very nice front desk though, they didn't seem upset that we had to keep sending it. They ended up finding our flight by the confirmation number on the airlines site and printing right from there. I recommend staying here for sure!

"Great Hotels"

5
14/11/2016

Love this hotel. The room had comfortable bed, clean and plenty of space. Also has a restaurant that's stay open until mid night. Airport and cruise ship port near by. Couldn't ask for more. Will go stay there again..........

"Received call from front desk at 2 a.m."

2
08/11/2016

I asked for a 4 a.m. wake up call. I received a 2 a.m. wake up call. When I complained to the front desk the clerk was rude. We had reserved a 5 a.m. shuttle and it came. Another customer was in the lobby and had reserved a 4:30 a.m. shuttle and it did not come. He was calling a cab as we were in the lobby waiting for our 5 a.m. shuttle.

"Works everytime for vacation travel"

5
06/11/2016

We have stayed here several times now as a place to stay over night to catch a flight in and out of EWR for vacation. Never a problem leaving a car for 5+ days. Shuttle service is great for to and from airport. Friendly staff always and fair pricing

"Below Average for a BW Plus"

2
06/11/2016

We chose this hotel both for proximity to the Airport and because it was a BW. Our initial experience was Ok, they got us our rooms early and the rooms seemed fine. The plumbing was so loud when we flushed the toilet that we thought the pipes were going to explode. The breakfast was average to good, but dont show up at 9:50 to eat, they clear the whole buffet at 10:00 sharp. Housekeeping likes to talk VERY loudly down the hallways at 9AM while cleaning other rooms like everyone is gone, so dont try and sleep in cuz you wont for long. This hotel is literally 9 mins from the shuttle pick up, but when you call the front desk to ask for a pick up after dark it takes 25 mins or longer to get there, not once but twice in three nights. Though the drivers were nice, not the sharpest when discussing when you will be picked up or dropped off. Now to top it all off when we got woken up in the middle of the night by partiers at midnight, the front desk was in no hurry to get them to settle down as we had to call twice before it was remedied. When I used sarcasm on the second call to tell the clerk I was going to tell them myself to settle down he thought that was going to be OK. The good things, bed was Ok, Lots of channels on TV, quiet from planes fro the most part, shower pressure was average to good. I would try another place next time I show up, perhaps even the BW 10 mins from the airport.

"Shopping trip"

5
04/11/2016

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights room was huge and spotless clean, staff were very polite and helpful, food in the restaurant was great and the shuttle service was great, would definitely recommend it especially if looking for a hotel close to Jersey Garden

"Transit stop at newark airport"

5
04/11/2016

The hotel was fairly priced, is updated with modern amneties, and the staff we experienced on the night of 11/02 was very nice, we also got a round of wine on the house, which was very kind of the restaurant staff

"perfect for ewr airport"

5
01/11/2016

We stayed here for one night before flying out on our disney vacation, the staff was very polite and helpful, the place is a little hard to find, GPS got confused. They have a cafe and Bar on premises good sevice and resonably priced.

"5 Minutes from Newark Liberty Airport"

4
28/10/2016

Ideal hotel if flying in or out of Newark NJ Airport. Very clean and comfortable. Very quiet rooms, considering that it is within airport area. Several restaurants within 1-2 miles. Good internet connection.

"Average hotel, bad shuttle experience"

3
28/10/2016

24/7 shuttle but you have to call to get picked up. Long wait and crowded ride, especially after being on hold for 10 min. Offers shuttle to Newark train station but only 5 times a day, otherwise a $12.50 charge. You can always take the train to the airport station, airtran to airport and then pick up the shuttle. Shuttle is supposed to depart every 30 min from hotel to airport. I was waiting for 5am shuttle. "He's on the way." "He's refueling." Finally I had enough of the lies (as I had a 630am flight) and told them to get me a cab. Cab left at 530 and I made my 630 flight but only because it was a Sunday morning. No place to walk to from this hotel.

"Good Value Choice, But Caution"

3
27/10/2016

It's been our experience that airport area Best Westerns are usually not their best properties. This property had an excellent price point for the New York City area, and for us was convenient to do a little leaf peeping car trip to Western New Jersey. Our room was large and clean. The noise levels in the hotel are high and sometimes embarrassing to hear through the walls of the room. Front desk was both good and not so good--key problems. Breakfast was OK and shuttle was slow at times, but good and free! Neighborhood is industrial.

"Park and Fly"

5
26/10/2016

This is the 3rd time we used the Best Western on International Rd, in Newark, NJ. It is clean, comfortable and very courteous staff. The shuttle going and coming home was prompt. Very important when you have to catch a flight and important when you are returning. We highly recommend for the park and fly.

"Hotel Not great"

1
25/10/2016

Shuttle service and wait times are long. Breakfast is not good. Hotel is far from everything, you a not in walking distance of anything so you have no choice but to use the shuttle service which has inconvenient hours. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone visiting New York, you waste a lot of time commuting. We have stayed in New Jersey several time- ended up at this hotel not by choice but only because our regular hotel was completely booked( BW Robert Treat, Newark, New Jersey)

"Did not get what we stayed there for."

2
25/10/2016

We stayed at this airport for three reasons: 1. To get a good night sleep before our flight out the next day. The heater in the room would wake us up every time it went on and it was very noisy. 2. Free breakfast. We didn't realize breakfast didn't start until 7AM which is when we would need to leave for the airport for our international flight. We ended up needing to leave the hotel at 6:30 so we could eat at the airport. 3. Easy shuttle since it is so close. The shuttle to the airport wasn't bad, but the directions for getting the shuttle pick up from the airport (basically just the phone number) were not very helpful. To be picked up after you have all of your bags from the international terminal you need to go back into the regular baggage pick up terminal, go upstairs to the train, take the train to the shuttle pick up, and then call for pick up. Just getting to the pickup can take 10 to 15 minutes. Once we called it took another 20 minutes to be picked up. Then back at the hotel we had to wait for the shuttle driver to go and get our vehicle which was surprisingly one of the fastest parts of the return trip especially since there were multiple groups waiting for their cars. Pros: -I filled out the hotel's survey online and they quickly sent an e-mail saying that they would be using my feedback to make improvements. I was impressed with the speed of the response - so maybe some of this will actually be improved. - The bathrooms looked newly remodeled. The hotel was clean. The bed was comfortable.

"Friendly staff"

5
24/10/2016

Stayed here before catching flight. Very clean room and friendly reception Free shutlle to airport .tv and free computer to use near reception, which passed time after I checked out. Very near airport

"Good airport stopover"

4
22/10/2016

The hotel is close to the airport and whilst its outside appearance is unattractive, inside it is smart, comfortable, and has good amenities. Ideal for an overnight stay near the airport and I would stay again.

"Stayed night before cruise"

4
14/10/2016

We stayed here because of its proximity to the port. The hotel is literally in the middle of a huge industrial area so we had no choice but to eat there but not to worry their food is excellent and plentiful! They provide a shuttle to Penn station from where we caught the Path train into NY city for a day of sightseeing. The shuttle is reliable and we had no worries getting back after an amazing if tiring day of trying to fit in as much as possible in one day. Our hotel was praticaly full of fellow cruisers and we paid to join the shuttle which left us to the cruise ship next day. Staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. Our room was basic and the only area to eat or drink was in the bar which too was very basic but served it's purpose. All in all this hotel worked well for us . If and I hope I do return to New York I would choose somewhere more central with more in the surrounding area to explore.

"Great choice!"

5
14/10/2016

I needed to be at Newark Airport by 6 a.m. for an international flight, so I stayed the night at this outstanding Best Western. Don't let the google map discourage you with the hotel's neighborhood. I was picked up from the Amtrak to the hotel by the hotel's free shuttle, had dinner at the hotel and stayed the night in an A+++ room (2 queen beds, all the amenities), and had a wake up call so I could have a breakfast snack and then the free shuttle to my terminal. It was the very best way to go. The room was excellent as was the staff. And the BLT sandwich I had for dinner was actually the best BLT I've ever had in my life. I sent my compliments to the chef. It was so thick with real, thick slices of bacon, the tomatoes slices were big and thick, and the lettuce was fresh & crisp. Thank you, Best Western Plus Newark Airport Plus. I'll be using you again.

"Clean room with Fridge and Microwave"

3
13/10/2016

Rooms were clean. They also accomodated early check in.Staff was nice and free bfast was a plus though items were runni g low and bfast staff didnt refill nor they spoke english. Parking was free and room had fridge and microwave.

"Great value"

10/10/2016

Good hotel, great, helpful staff. Very efficient. Left our car there for 2 weeks our flight home was delayed, arrived back in the early morning hours - our shuttle driver was waiting for us as well as our car back at the hotel. He made sure we got back to the hotel without a hitch. Great place to stay.

"Great Hotel for the Price"

4
10/10/2016

Clean, large rooms. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good too. Hotel restaurant was good for a late dinner after a long flight. Only dissapointing aspect of the hotel was the breakfast - extremely limited options and the food looked like it was just taken out of the microwave bag that it was heated in. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for the price, especially when compared to other NYC area hotels.

"Very bad experience"

1
09/10/2016

This was a terrible hotel experience. There were bedbugs, bad smells, ridiculous noise in plumbing. Never had something like this happen at Best Western before. Too bad. I definitely do not recommend this hotel.

"Subpar hotel"

2
06/10/2016

Falsely informed that there were restaurants within walking distance. This is incorrect. Staff has an "I don't care" type of attitude. Room was just as disappointing. Phone didn't work. Alarm clock didn't work. Beds were old. Breakfast was decent. This place is fine for an overnight stay, but any longer, look elsewhere

"Large room, noisy corridor and thin walls"

2
05/10/2016

We were staging for our next morning's flight. This hotel is reasonable and has a free airport shuttle service. The room was big, but the walls and door were very thin - heard everything from the hall and from the people showering in the next room, along with the train running by. Bathroom had a tub/shower combination, which was OK. Price was right, but next time we'll pick a more "substantial" hotel.

"Thumbs down!"

2
04/10/2016

We reserve a king size bed, but were given two double beds; told the bar/restaurant was open until 1:30am, but was only open until 11:30pm; the breakfast was unattended and unappealing; shuttle service took forever with unfriendly, perhaps unhappy, drivers. Pay a little extra and stay somewhere else!

"Great for easy access to NYC & Airport"

4
03/10/2016

This was an excellent hotel if you want the basics, free breakfast and free shuttles for access to other places. There was a free airport shuttle all day, and free shuttles to Newark Penn Station during selected hours. The room we stayed in was HUGE with a nice bed, DirecTV, fridge and microwave. Breakfast was great and served long hours. As long as you don't expect to walk anywhere from the hotel, it's great. I was glad we didn't drive there, as I feel I would have been completely lost!! Thanks for a great stay!

"Amazing Front Desk!"

4
30/09/2016

What a nice way to start a vacation. We have a very early flight in the am, so wanting to be close to the airport... And found the Best Western Plus, online. When we arrived, Pedro met us at the front desk and he was very helpful. He helped sign us up for a shuttle to the airport and directed us to long term parking. The hotel is updated and comfortable.

"Not what I expected"

2
26/09/2016

Pros: Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. Cons: Elevators were not in working order, so a member of our party who'd had recent knee surgery had to hike 4 floors. The shower door handle fell off when we opened the door and the dispensers which held soap, shampoo, etc. were empty. There were stains on the comforter. There were not enough parking stalls in the lot, so the side street was the only option to park and the neighborhood didn't exude confidence that the vehicle would be safe. I tried to contact the manager about our concerns and to ask for a price adjustment, but since it was the weekend, he wasn't in and the CSR at the front desk said she couldn't help since I had booked the room through a third party. I called the manager twice and left messages and he never returned my calls.

"Cruise Package"

4
23/09/2016

We stayed the night prior to our cruise. The room was clean and comfortable. We had the morning breakfast which was very good. Our transportation to and from the cruise port was flawless and our vehicle was secure while we were cruising. Even though we were near the airport, the room was very quiet.

"quiet and helpful"

4
21/09/2016

The hotel may not look attractive because of its location at the Airport, BUT it is quiet, and inside it is very clean and attractive and rooms are well appointed. It is one of few at the airport that provides a no hassle hot breakfast with the stay and a good price. The airport shuttle is helpful, too. I stay here for business most of my stays in Newark city or on my way through the airport.

"Excellent Stay"

5
20/09/2016

Very pleased and impressed with the service, breakfast and overall experience at this best western plus. Staff is very professional and rooms are very neat, clean and modern. Issues were taken care of immediately.

"Not a bad place"

4
20/09/2016

Great hotel for the money. Room was nice and clean, friendly staff, and breakfast was superb!! Nice an close to the airport, an parking was $8 day... not the greatest view out the window, right across an alley from what looked like an abandoned apartment building... not at exactly the nicest part of town...

"Great Stop Over Hotel"

4
19/09/2016

Arrived at the hotel late evening and there were plenty of friendly staff to help me with my stuff. Booked a single room and got a room with two double beds, a bathroom, and an extra large tub! It was definitely what I needed after travelling all day. Breakfast was nice. Was nice to get the free shuttle but took me to the wrong terminal, luckily right one was only a few minutes away and I wasn't in a rush.

"Pre Cruise"

4
12/09/2016

Just spend 1 night at the hotel before boarding our cruise ship. The staff was very helpful and arranged for our transfer to the port the next day.The restaurant was good and the room were spacious and very clean.

"Stay at Best Western, New Jersey"

5
12/09/2016

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in Usa! It was above mt expectations. The room was big neatly laid out beds, sofas etc. I had stayed at hotels in many cities but this was the BEST! There was complete privacy (no sounds coming through the walls). The Bathroom was clean. When we were leaving the room I saw leakage in the wash basin and the towels got wet. I hope the hotel staff gets it fixed asap! Apart from this we loved the place especially my kids!

"Good Hotel"

4
10/09/2016

The Hotel was clean, and the front desk staff was pretty helpful. The beds were comfortable. We had two queen beds and a sofa sleeper and the position of the sofa sleeper made it awkward to exit when the sofa bed was pulled out.

"Excellent Stay"

5
04/09/2016

Everyone (Receptionists and Shuttle Bus Drivers) were all polite and very helpful. Rooms were comfortable and spacious and were good for our stay which was 14 days. Shuttle bus to Penn Station Newark was very good and always on time, as you were in New York within 1 hour via Path.

"Convienence but in an ugly area"

4
03/09/2016

Everything you can expect out of a BW Plus. Airport shuttle was great. Draw backs is that there are no restaurants in the area besides the lounge in the lobby. Parking is limited and small. Do not venture out as the area is as ugly as could be.

"Great for Airport Lay Over"

5
30/08/2016

Hotel is close to EWR and reasonably priced for its location. Shuttle runs 24 hours a day so is convenient. Staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast is usual BW fare and beds are very comfortable. It's our go-to hotel when transiting through Newark Airport.

"Nice, Clean Hotel"

4
28/08/2016

Hotel was just what I needed to refresh. Rooms were clean, staff friendly. Straight forward hotel close to New York CIty without NY Prices. The wi fi was good. Out of the many hotels I have stayed at, this hotel had excellent water pressure. I am particularly picky about this, and this hotel delivered. I also enjoyed the waffles during breakfast. Thank you

"Next by the airport good value"

5
27/08/2016

Good value Clean Good A/C Parking Good Internet Remote area (as the airport) Accessible form high way very very near the airport !!! Flat TV .. many channels.. Friendly staff Bath with high water pressure I did not eat there so i can not comment on that Will come again if i i will have an early flight..

"Enjoyed our stay "

5
26/08/2016

We enjoyed our experience here! The front desk was very helpful , the rooms were very clean and the buffet style breakfast was very good , there was something there for all plus the coffee was good too. The shuttle service ran every hour to Newark Penn Station until 10pm. Would return again! Thanks Chris

"Average for overnight airport stay"

3
23/08/2016

Stayed for one night. Pros: clean, spacious, free wifi, free breakfast, free shuttle to your desired terminal. Cons: overall low quality hotel; you need to preorder the shuttle when you arrive at the airport, otherwise it will not come! Breakfast is poor, only decent thing was the oranges. They had scrambled eggs, waffles and dry croissants. Air con is really loud.

"OK Hotel, great staff"

3
22/08/2016

I stayed at the Best Western Plus when I had an overnight layover and an early flight out. I picked it because it was close to the airport, and it looked like a quick trip back and forth to the airport. It wasn't. It took well over an hour in the late evening to get picked up by the hotel shuttle. By the time the shuttle arrived, there were so many people waiting that some were sitting on each other's laps to fit in the bus. Long line at the desk, but the one desk clerk was great. He had a lot of rushed people, some angry, and he just stayed calm and cheerful and efficient, and got everybody through quickly. Even though he had no help, and other employees seemed to be leaving for the day. I was very impressed with him, though I think the management should do a little better on the staffing and organization. The room was large, with microwave, tv, refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron and safe. Bed pretty comfortable. However, everything was old, and the room was dark and gloomy. Carpets old and stained. No hot water in the shower, and the bathroom smelled. It looked clean, but something is wrong with the plumbing, because the smell was pretty strong. Noisy air conditioner fan. I had a 6 am flight, and had to be in the lobby at 3 AM, because that was the only opening on the shuttle back to the airport. So, with the late pickup and early departure, I didn't actually spend much time at the hotel. If I stay over in Newark again, I will probably try a different place.

"Convenient to airport and Penn Station"

3
22/08/2016

Best location for commuting between New York and New Jersey. They provide shuttle service to airport and train station for metro connections. Breakfast is nice. Room service are also impressive. Just half mile from the airport. We stayed for 5 days.

"OK Hotel. Small Breakfast Area. Rooms could be cleaner"

2
13/08/2016

Rooms were not the cleanest. Parking was tight; stayed their the night before a cruise. Breakfast area was packed in the mornings; not the best selection of food. The staff was nice and helpful. The area the hotel is in isn't the best; but hotel grounds feel safe.

"Would recommend. "

12/08/2016

We requested a nonsmoking room and when we got there, there was a heavy smoke smell as soon as we opened the door of our room. The lady on from was really sweet and gave us another room that didn't smell and was larger for our family with kids. Room was very clean. Nice staff. Free Breakfast and parking were both great! Only drawback was sometimes the elevator doesn't work.

Great hotel, very good, helpful people. Rooms comfortable. Easy access from airport. I usually stay here each time I'm in New Jersey. Nice bar, good food. Transportation to airport and bus station. Close to New York City.

"Disappointed"

08/08/2016

We booked this hotel as it was close to New York City and it was our first time visiting the area. The hotel website advertises shuttles to and from the train station as well as the airport which we thought would be convenient. Two separate afternoons the hotel shuttle did not arrive to pick us up at the Penn station as requested and when we phoned the hotel (every half hour), we were told it was on it's way. Another hotel shuttle drove us one evening because he felt bad seeing us sit outside the train station for 1.5 hours. The front desk staff were unfriendly, unknowledgeable and unhelpful. When we asked what restaurants were in the area that were unique, we were given iHop and Red Lobster as options. When we went to let them know our shuttle did not show up at all even after phoning multiple times, they told us we would not be charged for it (which was not the concern). The room was extremely hot and the register said it was 60 degrees. When we asked about the air conditioner working, they said it was working fine. My husband and I both agreed that overall we liked our first trip to NYC but the hotel and lack of service put a damper on the trip.

"Outstanding customer service"

06/08/2016

Wonderful hotel and an amazing staff. The rooms were clean, quiet and updated. The shuttle to the airport was easy and quick. Best of all was the fantastic customer service. The manager, MJ, and his team were so incredibly helpful. I had left my camera battery in my room. We were out west and could not find a replacement. MJ and his team found it and shipped it overnight to me so we could take pictures on our vacation. I cannot thank him and his team enough - they truly went beyond the call of duty on this one.

"It's a hotel...don't expect much more"

3
02/08/2016

The shuttle service is unreliable, the hallways are like saunas (although the room a/c is great), breakfast was pretty awful. Our first night we received a queen room that clearly hadn't been remodeled - even the TV channels were less. Nights 2-4 we had a very nice, remodeled, King room with 100+ TV channels. Back and forth to the train station were reliable and great, but airport return shuttles were unreliable. Nothing around hotel so you are stuck eating in their bar.

"Convenient"

4
25/07/2016

Close to airport. Frequent free shuttle. Basic but comfortable. Room was very spacious. The big TV was nice and programming choices was plentiful. Internet was slow at times and intermittent in availability.

"Okay but needs more attention to detail"

3
25/07/2016

Hotel is Okay for stay over for next morning flight. Staff is courteous and attentive. They have upgraded facilities. They use airport lot including their own. Wake up call did not happen. Soap one bar in room machines for soap in room empty. Just a bit more attention to detail will make this place better.

"Clean and comfortable night stay"

4
20/07/2016

The hotel was clean, and comfortable. Met all our needs. Only note I will add is that from being from out of town, we didn't realize there was very little parking available. We had to park down the street and walk back to the Hotel.

"EXCELLENT SERVICE- GREAT G.M."

5
20/07/2016

I stayed at the BW Newark while visiting family. My trip was last minute, but the General Manager (MJ) personally accommodated my needs. The staff I encountered were knowledgeable and friendly. The shuttle service was quick and efficient (Mercedes Sprinter is a GREAT touch). The rooms are spacious and clean. I would definitely stay again and recommend BW Newark.

"Don't expect service"

3
19/07/2016

Decent hotel close to the airport but there were quite a few others that were better situated. Don't try to get your car into the parking lot if you value the finish on it. Room was good and quiet but don't expect help quickly as they are very understaffed. Restaurant was not allergy friendly and there are no other restaurants nearby. There is a shuttle that will take you to a mall (15 minutes, $25 round trip). Shuttle was quick and mostly friendly but could be difficult to get through to page them. If you are put on hold, hang up and call back later as only one guy to man the phone and the front desk.

"Very good hotel "

4
18/07/2016

Very pleasantly surprised! Stayed at a lot of Best Westerns and this one was one of the best. Very clean room, free parking and free breakfast and free WiFi, that's nice! Didn't find any other hotel in the vicinity that provided all three freebies in the base rate. The shuttle did arrive after 40 minutes of requesting it from the airport parking lot but that seems to be a problem with all hotels around EWR. Will stay again.

"Huge mistake! "

1
18/07/2016

Staying at this hotel was such a mistake. We arrived Saturday evening after a long day of traveling. We went down to the restaurant and a waitress took our order around 8pm. An hour and a half later, our food was delivered. Three of the dishes were wrong - they were chicken quesadillas and we had ordered cheese (we're vegetarian). At this point it was 9:30pm. Our kids were exhausted and hungry. The waitress took the incorrect meals back to the kitchen and we waited some more. After another half hour, we still did not have replacement meals and other customers had gotten their meals. We were told there was only one cook in the back - not our problem. Waiting OVER TWO HOURS for a meal is unacceptable. And how does it take over a half hour to make three simple replacement cheese quesadillas?! At 10pm we gave up and left the restaurant. It was an infuriating disaster and ruined our night. The next morning we spoke with the hotel manager, who informed us that the restaurant is outsourced (and implied it is therefore not his responsibility. He apologized for them and said it was unacceptable and he would speak with the restaurant manager. He asked us for our room number and said "something would be done" for us. Well, nope - nothing was "done" for us. Additionally, half the lights in our room didn't work. The room was dirty (food behind the couch and hair from previous guests in the bathroom) and the room reeked of cigarette smoke. Disgusting.

"GREAT HOTEL, ACTUAL HIDDEN JEWEL"

4
18/07/2016

HAD a great stay. The hotel is located in a hidden area however it is easy to get to. The hotel property is absolutely beautiful and clean. The breakfast was very good. They offer a hot breakfast complete with sausage, eggs, Danish, bread ,cereal and a few other great items, so a really large selection of great fresh items. The only thing that is keeping me from giving this review 5 stars is the parking situation. The parking for this hotel is utterly ridiculous very cramped very difficult to get in and to get out. Other than that, the hotel room was very spacious very clean, complete with lots of clean towels and pillows. I would definitely stay at this property again the next time I'm in town. The rate is very reasonable. They do have a shuttle that runs every half an hour on the hour However, I didn't have an opportunity to use it. They also offer ong term parking for those that are taking flights at $8 a day. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who loves classy hotel stays with awesome service and enjoy staying beautiful properties. I am a very harsh critic, and it takes alot to impress me, I must admit, best western plus has definitely impressed my husband and i.

"Clean and friendly"

5
17/07/2016

Stayed one night prior to flying out of Newark airport. Hotel is clean, modern and front desk staff friendly. Left too early for the breakfast but muffins and coffee left out for the early departures. Free wifi. Airport shuttle takes 10 min or so. Had dinner at the Restaurant and it was average.

"Quick Stay Before Airport"

4
17/07/2016

I have to say when I first pulled into the hotel area I was not thrilled with location. The proximity to Newark Airport was perfect. Free shuttle service to airport. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was good enough for a quick bite. Carlos was our waiter and very attentive. The room was a very well appointed and spacious suite. The bed was incredibly comfortable. I actually wanted to strip it down to see what kind of mattress it was but I didn't have time. I would definitely stay her the next time I am flying out of Newark Airport.

"Spouse under the weather"

10/07/2016

Not what I expected from Best Western Freddy was Awesome at check in but when the next day came we were promised a room change that never happened Sorry, and I really really like this hotel, its been five years i have been coming to this hotel, there is always a first time

"excellent staff"

4
08/07/2016

The staff at this hotel tries very hard to help travelers manage their stay at a very busy location. They have helped us numerous times to make our flight and manage our car and made certain we made our flight in plenty of time. We have stayed here numerous times and always the staff is cordial, informative, and professional.

"Good location outside the city."

4
05/07/2016

Shuttle service to Penn station was good. The room was a good size. Water took a few minutes to warm up in the shower. Food in the hotel restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast had good variety.

"Pleasant Stay"

4
05/07/2016

My stay at Best Western was nice, the staff were pleasant the lobby and room was very clean. The bed was a bit soft, but I did sleep well. The only bad thing was parking the parking was very limited, but overall my stay was great

"average hotel"

3
05/07/2016

I was arriving at Best Western in the middle of the night and was just looking for a good night's sleep. Unfortunately the hotel is badly soundproofed so that I could hear almost everything from the neighboring rooms (it was also bad luck that there was a party going on in one of the rooms on my floor which made it particularly hard to fall asleep). The rooms are averagely equipped but very clean, the service is fine but the breakfast buffet is a joke especially if you're trying to eat healthily.

"Decent Place for a Stop-Over"

4
01/07/2016

Stayed here because it is convenient to the airport and price is decent. Very nice room. Shuttle worked well getting from/to the airport. Breakfast doesn't start until 7, which doesn't work well if you have an early flight. They do provide coffee and muffins earlier, but could do a little more for early travelers.

"What a dump..."

1
01/07/2016

Lousy location, squeezed into a chain-link lined car park - with a touch of Bonfire of the Vanities. The hotel itself is looking tired, the food on offer is lack-lustre, and certainly no-where you'd want to stay -other than for a late arrival and early departure. And the transit vans only go every 30 minutes.

"excellent except for overnight staff"

5
01/07/2016

beautiful hotel for stay before flight. just give yourself a little extra time for shuttle. Driver showed up 20 minutes late. This was our second time staying here before a flight. The first time was seamless this time we had a hiccup with the shuttle and desk clerk on duty at 3:20am He was NOT pleasant but I won't let one person dampen my experience with this hotel.. Overall it was great

"Good Food Good Times"

5
30/06/2016

We got stranded at Newark and decided to stay at this hotel it is in a very industrial place but we were happy when we arrived at 8 pm the front desk staff was friendly, went to the restaurant had a great conversation with Bartenders met a Couple from new zealand ended up staying there till close. The Restaurant staff is surely the Gem of this Property.

"Night before NYC"

3
29/06/2016

This seemed like a logical stop before going into NYC the next day. Beds were only good, pet peeve is no ice machine on each floor. Parking is terrible, small lot, I was blocked in by another car until they checked out, no concern from hotel

"Good Stay-over Hotel Choice"

5
28/06/2016

BW tends to be my go-to for quick overnight stops while travelling. I'm not sure why this property is considered a "Plus" but it certainly hit the marks for clean, quiet and convenient to the airport. Be sure to ask exactly when the shuttle heads to the airport....at 430am it was necessarily on-time.

"Dark and dingy"

1
26/06/2016

Although we chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and provided shuttle service, the experience was not pleasant. For the cost of the room--it was not worth it. I wish I would have selected another property instead of going with my BW rewards selection.

"Short stay at Newark Airport"

5
26/06/2016

We had reserved room because of early flight the next morning. I was able to return rental car the night before, and made plans to have shuttle pick us up at airport and take us to hotel, and back the next morning for our flight, altho we had to leave too early to enjoy their full breakfast. Room immense, with Jacuzzi! 2 king beds, fell asleep immediately! Lounge/restaurant convenient, as was shuttle to airport. Would stay here again. Happy with their service and cleanliness.

"Very clean"

4
24/06/2016

Pros: Very clean rooms. Free shuttle to airport & New York City trains. Good array of breakfast items, both hot and cold. Helpful front desk staff. Bar & restaurant on premises. Con: No outside space to walk.

"Park N Fly"

4
20/06/2016

This hotel was a very convenient location for the Newark airport. We ended up going around the block to enter the hotel as we missed the exit. Sketchy area at night. Parking is very limited. when you park N fly, your car is moved to another location. Where? I don't know, but it was back in the lot when we returned. Our room was very spacious with two queen beds and a sleep sofa. Needed to get new sheets for the sofa bed as I was not convinced they were clean sheets. Check the alarm clock as ours went off at 12am and startled the crap out of me. I could not get back to sleep again. Shuttle left for the airport for us at 5am and is a 5 minute drive to the airport. Pick up wait time was about 15-20 minutes. All in all this was a decent place with a friendly staff and would stay here again if flying out of Newark airport.

"Convenient to EWR, shuttle and breakfast included in price"

4
19/06/2016

Stayed here for 1 night between international flight from Rome and connecting flight to FL the following day. One phone call at airport and shuttle pick-up was prompt at P-4. Morning shuttle was delayed leaving hotel so I suggest allowing extra time. Shuttle takes passengers directly to various departing areas as well. Reception desk provided efficient check-in and check-out. Buffet breakfast included a variety of both hot and cold choices.

"Very good option"

4
15/06/2016

I booked for us because the EWR proximity and the price.I was surprise to feel very comfortable, fast check in, good restaurant (many options), some complimentary like tooth padte snd teeth brush ( our luggage stayed at the airport when the next international flight is within 12 hours). Comfortable room ( bed, pillows, ac, etc). Breakfast starts at 4 am with many stuffs but if your flight is later get full breakfast after 7am. The prices change a lot so when I tried to book for the night June 17 the price went to $150 instead of $110.49.

"Nice hotel but three rooms in four nights!"

3
14/06/2016

Arrived late Thursday, received prompt friendly check-in. However, when we arrived at our room there was an alarm going off in the room next door. Called front desk and was told it would be taken care of. Fifteen minutes later alarm was still beeping. Went downstairs and was there was a check-in crush but he would get to it as soon as he could. Think it took another 10 minutes. About an hour later our refrigerator began to make a clunking sound about every 15 minutes. Having travelled all day we put up with it. Reported noise to front office first thing in a.m. And was told they would fix it while we were out. Returned to room around 8 and nothing was done. Night desk guy apologized said there were no rooms to move us to and asked could I just unplug it. We had snacks and water for the next day but just took our losses. Saturday morning manager was told about the situation and said we would have a new room when we came back. True to hrs word he upgraded us to Jr. Suite. An hour after settling water started pouring out of the ceiling into the tub near a light fixture. Once again front desk guy claimed they were full. My husband told him what a safety hazard it was -water and electricity - and he found us another room. So 3 rooms in 4 nights is not a good thing.

"Room Smells"

3
11/06/2016

Stayed here for a couple nights and took the shuttle to Newark Station for NJ Transit to New York Penn Station. The whole shuttle-train thing is convenient and doesn't take more than 40 minutes. The shuttle to and from the airport is great too. I didn't have to wait for a long time for pick up. The bad part about this hotel is the room itself. The room smells even though it claims to be a non-smoking room. There is only 1 small window in the room and look out to a sketchy building 10 feet away. In the middle of the night, there's a fire alarm. Seems to be a common thing as other reviewers also mentioned it. The room is charged at a relatively low price but I would definitely pay more to stay at a different hotel next time.

"Nice hotel sketchy location and service"

3
10/06/2016

We arrived on a Thursday evening around 6 after a full day of travel from west. Quick, pleasant check in. We arrive at our room to hear a constant beeping alarm from room next door. Thinking it may be a smoke alarm alert desk. Fifteen minutes later alarm is still beeping. Go down to desk associate accompanies husband back upstairs ... Problem solved. After finally settling into our room around 10 pm discover fridge is making throttling sound every 30 minutes or so. Long day so we fall asleep but noise continues throughout night. Report it first thing in the morning but upon return to room after 9 pm noise is still there. "Note was not made in red book" to report or fix. Asked for another room or fridge - we have purchased perishables -"we are all booked and I can not move a fridge" according to who I believe is night manager Pedro. "Come down in the morning and talk to our manager MJ because This a big thing and we need to get this fixed." Tonight the throttling noise is occurring every 15 minutes. Anxiously awaiting to speak with MJ in the morning after we have plugged fridge and lost our perishables.

"Great location at a great price with free breakfast!"

4
10/06/2016

Overall, the location of this hotel is perfect if you are interested in touring NYC. You won't pay NYC prices, but you will still be able to have access to the city and a safe environment. This place offers free breakfast, which most hotels in the area do not. They have a transportation service that allows you access to the Penn Station, which takes you right into NYC.

"Short pre-flight stay"

4
09/06/2016

Good option for a quick pre or post flight stay. Free shuttles every half hour to the airport was very helpful. Will also pick you up from the nearby train station if you call when you arrive at the station. Room was spacious and incredibly clean and seemed to be recently renovated. Restaurant/bar on site is the only option for food nearby but was open late.

"Awful area, good for one night airport stopover only"

4
08/06/2016

The hotel fire alarm went off at 5:30 am and caught me in a fright. Called reception and they said it was the steam in a shower that caused the fire alarm. Could not go back to sleep after that so was very unhappy and tired when I checked out.

"BUS SHORTLE"

4
06/06/2016

we had a nice time in the hotel, the staff a great and ready to help with a welcoming face but please ensure not to overload your driver because the gentleman that dropped us in the airport was sleeping while driving.

"Park - Sleep - Fly"

2
04/06/2016

Hotel was nice with dark updates. Hotel staff need better customer service skills. Desk attendant in AM asked if it was my first time using ParkSleepFly & when I said yes, he just put a sticker on my claim card & appeared annoyed when I started to ask questions. I could understand if it were busy, but it was only he & I in the lobby. When I returned I called the desk for the shuttle & was told the driver would be there shortly. I called again after >10 minutes and the same person who answered told me the driver was on his way. (You can see the airport from the hotel - it takes less than 4mins). When the driver arrived, he told me he was just at the airport dropping people off & when he went back to the hotel, the person who answered the shuttle phone told him she forgot to tell him to pick me up. Expect a 15-20min wait after you call for a shuttle.

"Nice Hotel"

4
01/06/2016

Stayed in May 2016 for 1 night before setting off on a cruise from NJ. Close to airport and sea-port. A free airport shuttle, and shuttles to near by train stations and sea-port. Clean, tidy and very spacious rooms with big comfy beds. Very powerful shower and again very clean - it was excellent for our purpose.

"Unclean, horrible location"

2
01/06/2016

The hotel is not close to the airport, it's also not close to anything else. This means you need to take rides everywhere - and apart from the airport - the options are very limited. The room was very big, yet I found very bad mold in the bathroom (and I actually had one of the best rooms in the hotel). I only discouvered this on my last day there which was bad since I am allergic to the stuff. I will not be back.

"Barely value for money..."

3
31/05/2016

Had a one night stay here before leaving from Newark airport. The hotel is situated in a shady area of Newark which looks depressing. Rooms are spacious and clean, but are a bit dated . Breakfast is barely on par.. The receptionist was not very friendly when we arrived. The assistant was on the other hand friendly and helped us with food and beverages. The hotel has a horrendous fee for late check out: 25 usd pr hour! There is also a fee for safe in room. Never heard of that before...

"Excellent stay"

5
31/05/2016

I was traveling on business and needed a convenient place to stay close to Newark Airport. This Best Western offered a great price on a park and fly option. The General Manager was very helpful and assisted us with our reservation. The room was very clean and quiet, perfect for a good nights rest before our flight. I did not have time to use any of the other hotel facilities however they looked great. I would not hesitate to stay here again especially if I was flying out of Newark Airport. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

"Our Home Away From Home to fly and do N.Y.C."

5
31/05/2016

We have stayed here for nearly 15 years and know many of the staff. They treat us like family and the shuttle services are excellent. The full breakfast buffet is an added value to your stay!! The hotel restaurant has excellent food at very reasonable prices so no need to order in or leave the facility for dining.

"Wonderful stay"

5
29/05/2016

I was traveling out of the country and this was my last stop in the USA. Very good way to end my time in the US for awhile. I will stay here again. I was picked up at the airport and shuttled back to the hotel. The driver named Robert was very helpful and kind. He drove me back to the airport at 4 am the next morning and made my stay very special. I think that is is important when you meet good people who are willing to take care of you to let people know

"Exactly what you need, not much more."

4
29/05/2016

Very nice, clean, newly renovated hotel, right near the Newark airport. Park and stay is a great option for a long trip. Airport pickup and drop off was very easy, and timely. The hotel does have a restaurant inside, as there is nothing nearby. All outside restaurants are a bit of a drive on the other side of the airport. Hotel staff were all extremely nice. The parking lot is EXTREMELY tight; tough to get out let alone with luggage. A Good one night stay, would use again if I flew out of Newark.

"Only in an extreme emergency! "

1
25/05/2016

Tried overcharging us for the room, glad I checked before we departed. Shuttle pickup at the airport took 45 minutes, verbally told 20, ticket states 15...FYI. Nice rooms otherwise, with bar and restaurant.

"Stay and cruise package"

4
25/05/2016

We recently stayed at this hotel as part of the cruise and stay package. We flew in the day before our cruise. The hotel is in the airport district and has no nearby conveniences (restaurants or convenience stores). The hotel allowed us to check in early around noon. The room was nice and large with a loveseat. After check-in, we then caught the free shuttle to Penn Station Newark to ride the PATH to World Trade. We saw a Broadway show and got back to Newark late in the evening. The free shuttle from Penn Station to the hotel had stopped. We had to ride the Amtrak from Penn to the airport. We then used the hotel shuttle from the airport. The breakfast was nice. We signed up for the 2nd shuttle to the cruise port. It left on time and got us to the cruise port safely. We were given a voucher for our ride back after the cruise to the airport. The service for this return shuttle was slow and less convenient.

"Great 10 night stay......"

4
21/05/2016

We have just got back from a 10 night stay, got picked up from the airport by the hotel shuttle, check in was quick and painless and our room was clean and tidy. Even though you are very close to the airport you can't hear any aircraft noise, but unfortunately you can hear other peoples noise!...Not really the hotels fault but some people are just way too LOUD!!.... The beds are lovely large and comfy, loved having a big fridge and a microwave, coffee maker was provided never used it as I had my travel kettle... The breakfast was really very good. Having a shuttle to and from Penn Street Station was fantastic, all shuttle drivers were good but one stood out (Jose) very nice courteous and friendly. Getting into New York is no problem thanks to the Path trains... Would stay here again, but bring ear plugs just in case. (out of our 10 night stay, only 2 nights were affected by loud people)

"Very Good But Could Do Better"

4
20/05/2016

This hotel is very close to the airport 5 min shuttle ride, Check in was quick and professional from check in to your room took 5 min after a long flight we were glad to get to the room. Our room (412) was clean and had a very comfy big bed they have a refrigerator and microwave for guest to use nice size bathroom with 2 sinks. Only thing we had to grumble about was that the rooms don't have very good soundproofing we could hear everything people slamming doors next doors tv on very load on one of our 10days at the hotel someone checked in late and they woke us up banging doors and talking very loudly but getting past that it was a great room and was all we needed after a long day in New York. The hotel have a free shuttle to penn station that goes every day from 7 till 11am the picks up from 7 till 11pm the driver Jose is fantastic really makes the drive easy is pleasure to talk too brilliant he goes out of his way for you make sure you get to the stations quick as possible he finishes every day at 5 so only does the morning drop offs one night the driver left the station early before our pick up so we had to catch a taxi when we returned to the hotel and told the lady at the front desk she refunded us our taxi fare this to us is brilliant service and will make us return to this hotel next time we come back to newark other then the rooms have poor soundproofing this is a fantastic little hotel!!

"Close & convenient to NYC"

4
20/05/2016

We stayed here for access to NYC and Newark Airport. The shuttle was reliable and convenient for both the airport and Newark Penn Station. We arrived early from a cruise and were invited to have breakfast while waiting for the next shuttle. Staff secured our luggage so we could begin our visit of NYC.

"Great place"

5
20/05/2016

The staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. Free shuttle to airport and Penn Station. I would definitely return. We called last minute (stranded at airport. No rental cars available) We just returned from Europe and were tired , we just wanted a room to sleep. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant down on lobby was nice. Great Continental breakfast.

"Very good location near airport"

4
19/05/2016

5 minute shuttle ride from airport. Free shuttle. I could even reserve the shuttle to give me a ride at 3:30 AM to catch an early morning flight! Check-in was easy. Hotel was clean. Unfortunately I left too early in the morning to enjoy the free breakfast from 7 to 10:30.

"Amazing Stay with Great Staff!"

5
16/05/2016

Me and my family stayed here and the service was amazing, The beds are super comfy. The front desk girl even send out my mail for me. They even had a shuttle take us to the station and pick us up so we could go into New York for a day. Will definitely stay here again!!!

"Good value"

13/05/2016

I stayed here for a Business meeting at the airport, the hotel is comfortable and has free breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed their restaurant in the evening staff was great, food is good and shuttle service is also free to airport a +

"Great stay memorable trip"

11/05/2016

We had a layover in newark for a day and planned to stay here, the staff is great and they have a Restaurant on site, the Bartender and waiter are superb they made us have a great time and had a great conversation.

"Outstanding staff"

4
10/05/2016

The front desk and shuttle staff are the most helpful and friendly that I have ever encountered. I left the hotel feeling I had made new friends. I will be back to visit them. Breakfast Buffet was good The food in the restaurant is OK. But again the server was attentive, friendly and helpful A good value.

"Fast Shuttle service to liberty"

2
07/05/2016

Restaurant service and food was surprisingly good. Nice to have at hotel. Shuttle arrived promptly at 6:00 am and was very quick. Rooms were basic and not cleanest but passable. Website says they provide hair dryers, but I couldn't ever get one even when I went down to front desk after 45 min of waiting. Complimentary breakfast doesn't start until 7:00am but you can get coffee and a muffin.

"good place to stay"

4
04/05/2016

best continental breakfast! clean rooms. great house keeping. just keep in mind to bring your own bath robes and slippers since this hotel doesn't provide one. Other than that, everything is great. noise level is 0 ..they give you lots of pillows. had no trouble sleeping at this place. they also provide shuttle services to the airport and NJ penn station.

Lovely hotel, all attendees are very attentive and extremely nice. This is always my choice because of the service the employees there extend to me. I look forward to my stay here because of the service the staff extends to me.

"Perfect when you have an early flight"

Stayed at the Best Western overnight for an early flight, left my car there for 5 days. Was picked up early in the morning 4am for a 6am flight. The shuttle driver was prompt and very nice. When it was time to return home from my trip my car was in the same place I had left it. The same shuttle driver picked us up right on time. The price was good and it was a pleasure, the room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Although I will say the food in the resturant was dissapointing.

the beds were comtable room was very clean large room nice breakfast & dinner no noise and the drinks were also good. and the front desk people were wonderful. When i arrived at the airport called for a shuttle bust. they were very prompt in getting to the airport to pick us up.

We found the desk staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. The shuttle drivers were great..friendly, knowledgeable about EWR airport. The breakfast was super...and the "breakfast lady" was kind and helpful.

"Near the airport and convenient"

20/04/2016

I stayed here on a recent trip to NYC where I flew into Newark late. Was easy to get the hotel shuttle arranged for pickup and check in was really quick. The room itself was clean and well decorated. Since I had a late flight, I tried to sleep in but realized that the walls were pretty thin. I'd recommend ear plugs! Otherwise, the shuttle was easy to organize to the train station. I stayed there again on my way out before an early flight and had no issues. Would definitely recommend for those flying into Newark. The parking lot did look small, so I'd be careful when parking!

"Ripped Off!!"

19/04/2016

Chose this as a familiar name stayed in many Best Western Hotels before, as the hotel was close to Newark Airport & we had a 7 hour wait for our connecting flight, we decided to book in so we could have a shower, freshen up & grab a few hours sleep, our travelling companions did the same. Prepaid online but was asked to give a card swipe on arrival for any room service etc, unlikely, we explained as we are showering & sleeping but handed over two cards. Twenty four hours later having left the hotel & arrived at our final destination we received call from our bank asking about numerous payments made at one location, numerous payments came to £850 of unauthorised payments all at this hotel. We blocked the card, told the bank they were not made by us & they assured us they would get to the bottom of it. The following day our companions discovered they have had exactly the same thing on the card they used all at this hotel, theirs was over £1000!!!! When our friends called the hotel manager he asked for the all the card details, including security number, so he could check the system!! Did he think we would be stupid enough to repeat the process?? I would not recommend anyone stay here. The staff were unhelpful even while we were there let alone once we discovered the theft.

Everything was good, walls were a little thin and could hear people nearby talking at 2 am. Rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. Lobby very nice. All good. Shuttle service from airport was very prompt. Good place to stay.

I would highly recommend this property for it's proximity to the Newark Airport as well as NYC. I was travelling with a group of teenagers, the breakfast buffet was perfect. The shuttle service was seamless and when the larger group arrived for check-in, all rooms and key cards were ready, this also made check-in seamless.

"Blood and Urine on my Bed and forced to stay in the room"

1
11/04/2016

My experience was the worst ever. We were foreced to sleep in a room where the bed had blood and urine on it from a previous guest. The night attendant was rude and told us there were no rooms available. Come to find out we there were rooms available but it was a suite so that's why he didn't offer it to me. we were transferred to the suite the next morning after i spoke to the general manager. We were exposed to blood and urine and are worried about our health in the future.

"WORST PLACE EVER"

1
06/04/2016

I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, many were low prices. This place was the absolute worst experience. The parking is terrible. Just expect your vehicle is going to get dinged because of the tiny parking spaces. Don't expect the staff to assist you with anything. When I tried to check in they were too busy on their cell phones to inform me where the luggage carts were, or how to get to my room. The shuttle driver told me where I could temporarily park. There is only two elevators. I found out the one I too didn't go all the way to the floor I needed. After transferring the luggage to the other elevator with my young daughter I noticed the distinct strong smell of marihuana. The last people on the elevator was actually hotel employees. We initially couldn't find our room because the numbers were incorrect and scipped our room number, which was actually further down the hall between two other numbers. The room was dingy and the bed didn't look made up properly, and the sheets didn't seem replace. The TV wasn't plugged in and there was an extension cord with wires crossed. Upon trying to plug in the TV I found a used plate with leftover food inside the TV cabinet. I tried calling the desk and was immediately treated very rudely. I personally went downstairs and requested to speak with the manager. I was told he was busy, but they would have him call me. I called several times to speak with the manager, but to no avail. I had planned to stay five day while my wife was having our baby. If I actually had to stay the overnight I would have changed hotels. We only had time to come back to the hotel once and tried to eat in the bar. It was a old nasty run down bar with drunk rude loud mouth cussing fools at the bar. One person was so drunk he kept falling off the bar stool. Unfortunately we were very tired, so I had no other place to take my young impressionable daughter to eat. I attempted to order a Top Shelf rum and coke and the bartender/waitresses gave me diet coke and some cheap rum. It was the worst drink I've ever had. The food, if you could call it that, was the most disgusting garbage I've ever had. Even my daughter didn't eat it. The bartender/waitresses even charged us full price even though I complained. She even had the nerve to charge me for the fake (Top Shelf) drink that I only sipped once. The hospital food was a whole lot better! When I first made reservations I was told that I had to change rooms after a few days, and even though the room was no different I had to pay a much higher price for the last couple days. While still at the hospital I called and asked if I could still keep the same room, due to the fact that my wife was in labor and I couldn't get back to change rooms. This time I was told that I could stay in the same room and I wouldn't be charged any extra fee. I even reiterated the conversation and the man at the hotel repeated that I wouldn't be charged any extra fee for the room. When we came back to check out I found out I was still charged the extra exorbitant fee for the last two days. I later sent a complaint to the hotel and received a ridiculous email from some manager stating he was sorry and he hoped I'd stay there again. No mention or credit for the worthless food and drink, or the extra charge for staying in the same room. No one should have to experience this type of hotel service. You'll obviously be happy anywhere else!!!

"No respect"

04/04/2016

I stayed one night at this hotel and I left the next day feeling as if many of the staff could use a refresher course in how to deal with the customer. As a woman traveling solo noticed that the latch lock was broken on my door I went and voiced my concern to the young lady at the front desk but Her attitude was dismissive and she told me it was " supposed to be that way" and when I called a second time to tell her I was sure it was broken she told me she would call me back I'm still waiting for her call...To make matters worse when I complained to the manager the next day he told me he would get back to me at my email as you can guess that never happened. The nicest and most courteous staff members I met were the shuttle drivers. In conclusion, there are plenty of options when traveling out of Newark you can definitely do better than this cheap-o place. Oh, and I almost forgot the maid just busted in my room without knocking and it as hardly near checkout time! Ridiculous!!

28/03/2016

Check in was easy but as a diamond member it is nice to be acknowledged as one. That didn't happen. A recognition gift is also suppose to be given at check in. That didn't happen. A free upgrade was given but I had to ask for it, it wasn't offered. Bartender was nice and attentive. Food was ok. Calamari was fried right out of a box no doubt. Burger was good. Our room was an upgraded deluxe King that had a funky smell and was dark. Room was a nice size with a smallish bathroom. Parked our car for 4 days for $8 a day while we were on vacation. Shuttle drivers were fast, efficient, and timely.

28/03/2016

Spent some nice days in this hotel located at the airport. Had made an incorrect order advance of our stay, but the hotel staff fixed this upon arrival. The staff was very helpful at all time. Thanks to the hotel shuttle service, it was no problem getting to the train station or get picked-up. Good beds, fitness center, and shuttle service.

"Clean room, excellent staff!"

28/03/2016

We stayed over as the park/sleep/fly promotion. We had a 6 am flight and this was a much more convenient and affordable way to travel. The room was updated and clean. The staff was helpful and attentive to details. My car was protected and the fee was super affordable.

"Great place to stay for NYC or cruise launch. "

4
27/03/2016

I echo what others have said. Great how to get to places advice, great staff for the most part, clean, good breakfast buffet, good park and cruise package. Decor is a bit dated, but rooms are clean, bathrooms were very clean. The ac is loud. Don't get a room if you can help it near the elevator.

"Before Cruise Stay"

5
26/03/2016

This is a GREAT place to stay if you are flying into and out of Newark airport. They picked us on arrival and arranged transportation to and from the cruise port. The front desk staff and the manager could not have been more helpful. We came in a day early for our cruise and went to 911 memorial and museum. They gave us instructions on how to get their and then took us and others to the Newark Penn Station to catch the PATH into NY. ALL the shuttles were no charge to the Airport and Penn Station, but there is a very reasonable fee to go to and from the Cruise port. The shuttles run on a very frequent schedule. I noticed most people did not TIP the shuttle drivers, REALLY !!! Come on people give them a buck or two for each person in your party or maybe you would rather pay for a Taxi !! Thank you very much to ALL staff at the BEST WESTERN Plus Newark Airport West, you made the start and ending of our trip seamless.

"very nice place to stay near airport"

22/03/2016

was flying out of Newark and stayed at the best western the night before. this is a nice hotel near the airport and offers a very nice continental breakfast. had dinner at the restaurant that night and service and food was good. the hotel offers courtesy vans for guest convenience and they were very nice and cooperative. I would recommend this hotel if staying near airport.

"Quick Stay"

3
22/03/2016

If you are looking for no thrills, just a comfy bed and then is it. You do hear the train, the walls are paper thin and you smell cigarette smoke from the vent in the bathroom. Just keep the vent on all night and you won't smell it. It is very close and convenient to the airport. That is it's plus.

"Better than we thought!"

5
20/03/2016

We booked this hotel for the night before our cruise and also as a place to leave our vehicle for the 12 nights we would be gone. Stephanie, who made the reservation, took extra care in answering all the questions we had about hotel, their shuttle service, where our vehicle would be stored, etc. Upon arriving, yes, it is in an out of the way area and did look a little intimidating, but when entering the lobby and greeted by their friendly staff, we knew we chose the right place. They gave us a beautiful room for the night and in the morning had a delicious buffet breakfast that was included. We then left our vehicle key with the front desk and we're shuttled to the cruise pier. After the cruise, they were there to bring us back to hotel and pick up our vehicle. I was a little leary of leaving my keys at the beginning of our trip, but in the end there was nothing to worry about, everything was fine.

"Impromptu Flight Cancellation Stay"

4
13/03/2016

TL;DR Good price, nice rooms, okay bar/restaurant. Would stay again. Booked a room due to a flight cancellation. Do not let the neighborhood fool you, it doesn't look impressive driving up, but the interior delivers. Room was very nice and the on site bar/restaurant had decent food at reasonable prices. The rooms are similar to an Aloft in style. Bathroom had actually stone counter tops and floor. Looks amazing and is definitely a noticeable nicety. Everything was very clean and maintained. The bar/restaurant was decent. It could have been better in a few areas, but first and foremost you won't regret going. Wait staff was very attentive so the experience was excellent. The food was okay. Ordered chicken marsala that was served in a brown gravy versus a white wine sauce. Actually a bit of a shame as the chicken tasted good and the sauce detracted overall from the dish. It also came with french fries as a side. An odd choice, but the french fries are very good and I'm sure easier to prep. Drink prices were reasonable ($6 for a glass of wine with a pour I'd do at home). Ultimately location would be your deciding factor. May not be the best for going into the city, but there is a shuttle to Newark Airport and then a train in so plan accordingly. If you're stranded overnight from a canceled flight, save a few dollars and stay in for a drink and a meal. You'll spend total what a room costs at the Marriott.

Free airport shuttle and very close for quick transfer. Nice breakfast and reasonable room in industrial neighborhood Shuttle can be arranged to local outlet mall. Choose this one for the for the convenience

"Good value airport hotel"

12/03/2016

Very helpful staff in a conveniently located airport hotel with good amenities for a stay when travelling. Very good value for money. Reception staff can check you in, and can make associated baggage bookings, for onward flights - very welcome service. Free shuttle from and to the airport was friendly and efficient.

"No rooms available"

1
10/03/2016

We showed up late on a Saturday for our prepaid room. We were told by the desk clerk that no rooms were available. He then started calling area hotels but did not find one that we thought was suitable. He kept telling us that,"stuff happens." We found rooms at another hotel on our own that was nice but more expensive. The general manager sent a note to us apologizing for not exceeding our expectations and telling us that he authorized refunding the money that we paid to his hotel.

"A real 'Hidden Gem'!"

09/03/2016

Bit of a challenge to find this place and navigate to it, but once you're there, it's fantastic. Great staff. Clean, new, open rooms. Rather quiet, despite being very close to the airport. Very reasonably priced rooms. Flexible friendly shuttles. My go-to hotel whenever flying into the NYC area.

"Great Stay Experience"

07/03/2016

Found real value at this hotel. Helpful, friendly staff, excellent accommodations, clean and comfortable place! Really appreciated their shuttle that took us everywhere we needed to go ~ no need for a rental car even! Excellent experience and will definitely go there again.

"Nice photos in the adverts, not so great on the inside"

3
29/02/2016

I used this as s stop for a layover between flights. Best bits about the hotel: 1. Near the airport 2. Value for money 3. Bed was great, and TV 4. Inclusive breakfast was good Not so good: 1. Carpets in hallways very dirty, like someone only hoovered the centre of the walkways 2. Oppressively dark, not sexy dark, but horror movie dark 3. Bathroom tired and worn and re-grouted within an inch of it's life

"GREAT STAFF"

5
28/02/2016

We were in town to catch a Devils game, and was pleased to find out we were given a free upgrade for being Platinum Members. The staff here are absolutely wonderful - from Front Desk, to Housekeeping, to the gentlemen outside who gladly moved cars so we would have a spot to park - this place is about SERVICE. Nice large rooms, and a great breakfast to get you off & running in the morning. Even have a restaurant on site. Right next to the airport and highways, but not noisy. Great place to stay !

"Park and Stay"

27/02/2016

When we fly out of Newark,we always use this motel for a 1 night sleep over and to be able to park the car there on there lot for up to 10 days(i think it's 10,it could be 7,check the website)...our only problem we have is finding it when in that congested area....we always seem to miss the turnoff...they finally started having a continental breakfast a little bit earlier then 5,since a lot of people do leave before 5..

"Stopover"

25/02/2016

I spent one night at hotel en route from London to Binghamton NY. After I landed at Newark airport, the free shuttle bus was at the exit. It whipped me over to the hotel in no time. The hotel is large, clean with courteous staff. It looks a bit dated on the outside and could benefit from a little facelift. The bar/ restaurant is on the ground floor and serves basic food e.g. hamburgers & chips, sandwiches & chips, wraps & chips. To be fair, there are a small section of other foods e.g. grilled pork chop etc. Breakfast in the morning was adequate with cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, scones, toast and omelettes. The restaurant area needs urgent upgrading with its bare tables and plastic garden chairs to be a bit more welcoming. It just felt like your average high street greasy spoon. My room was a surprise. I asked for a single but had a huge room with a massive double bed, a lounge area with sofa, flat screen HD TV, fridge, microwave and safe. There was a unusually large bathroom with shower, bath, toiletries etc. Everything was very clean. As a bit of a claustrophobic I did not like the fact that no window could be opened at all!! Air-conditioning does not replace outside air for me. I recommend this hotel for the casual traveller as the price is very reasonable for the outskirts of New York.

"great staff - nice, clean rooms"

Young adults who were attending a nearby concert and then spent one night. Staff was friendly and they felt safe the entire time. Restaurant inside of hotel allowed them to eat without leaving premises. also great breakfast FREE in the mornings.

21/02/2016

I stayed here recently twice because of overnight connections at EWR airport. The hotel has a 24-hour shuttle. It picks up at P4 in the airport and you call 21 on the courtesy phone. To get picked up, you wait about 15 min. To get dropped off at the airport you sign up for a shuttle time. Do this when you check in. Shuttles leave the hotel every 30 min. The breakfast is the same every morning, but it is free and hot. Waffles, egg, and sausage plus bagels, cereals, etc. juice and coffee. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Ask for a top floor room. They are newer than the bottom floor ones in terms of decor.

"First & last time we stay here............."

15/02/2016

We did a park n fly stay at this hotel prior to our Royal Caribbean Cruise out of San Juan. The location to the airport was within a half mile, but that was the only thing great about it. The room in general was just ok, not great. We were not happy with the hotel policy for the park n fly customers, that you need to leave your car keys with the front desk and then they jam your car in the rear lot because parking is limited and then it seems like it takes forever for them to get your car when you want to return home. We will not stay here again.

"Terrible Parking"

3
15/02/2016

Absolutely no room for parking at this location. The hotel Parking area very small and not enough spaces for all of the guests. I had to park down the street and was afraid of being towed during the night.

Friendly staff. close to airport. Nice bar. nice size bath tub. no noise from airport even though we were so close. Secure location. Food was good, hot and served quickly. Nice parking lot close to front door.

"A good value near the Newark airport"

03/02/2016

The staff was polite, the room better than I expected, and a free airport shuttle runs 24/7. We took the 4 AM shuttle and were pleased to have free coffee and muffins available at that hour. I would stay at this hotel again for its value price.

"1 night travelers, left car for 10+ days"

4
01/02/2016

All in all we were very satisfied with our booking and stay. We booked through the Tripadvisor website and booked for the rate of $109 a night, knowing the details stated we could leave our car securely for up to 10 days there which was what we were looking for specifically. Upon check in we got the tell tale excuse "that's not the park and fly rate, the park and fly rate is $159 a night" yadda yadda, so what else could we do? We paid it. Ate in the restaurant that night it was great food and service, only issue was they failed to tell us they weren't going to process the credit card we gave them and signed for for our meal, but rather charged the card that was on file for our room which caused some banking issues. Other than that, we were pleased, it was clean, quiet, comfortable. The shuttle took us to the airport and picked us up! We were away during the Blizzard of 2016 so when we returned we thought for sure our car would be covered in snow and it looked to have been in a covered garage the whole time we were away! Bonus! A little more info explaining things such as the park and fly would be helpful on the tripadvisor web listing and the Best Western web listing.

31/01/2016

This is the second time we have used the Best Western Newark Airport Hotel for purposes of one night stay, shuttle to and from airport and park the car for the entire trip. We traveled during the snow storm of 2016 where we got 20 plus inches. When we returned the shuttle was readily available and the car was cleaned off and off went to go home via the Turnpike which was totally cleared for our drive. We all know when we are ready to come home from a trip we do not want any barriers and just want a smooth trip home and get home as quickly as possible. The hotel made that good for me.

Flew in a day before the NY blizzard of 2016 to catch a cruise. Once we arrived discovered the cruise would be delayed by a day. Safe was able to accommodate us for the extra day. Despite the blizzard they all did a great job! Would stay with them again.

26/01/2016

We booked this hotel for our trip to the city for a couple days. They were great upon check in and our room was perfect. We had dinner at the hotel and our waiter Carlos was fantastic and the food was pretty good for a hotel restaurant. We unfortunately were there during the blizzard, so Saturday we were stuck at the hotel all day...but the staff worked non-stop to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I'm almost positive the front desk staff worked around the clock to keep clients happy. We ate in the restaurant that night too, and waitress that was able to make it in was brand new and did fantastic. She kept up with a packed restaurant and never lost her smile. We will definitely stay here again...just maybe not during a blizzard.

"Not a great choice"

24/01/2016

As a rule i have found Best Western Hotels to be fine but I was unimpressed with this property. First, i waited for almost an hour at the airport pick up point because i was not informed by the hotel that it was necessary to call them for a pick up. That would be an easy fix, just to mention it on the website! The front check in desk is so high that it was difficult to see the clerks behind the desk. I found that rather bizarre and not helpful for customers or staff! Perhaps the architect was a giant? My room was large but everything, including the bathroom, looked a little past its prime. The sheets looked a little rumpled and I preferred to think they simply had not been ironed. One of the bathroom towels had a black smudge and a small hole. There is no room service and the restaurant is small and dark with a very limited menu. Service was alright but there were four middle-aged drunks sitting at the bar who seemed to consider themselves hilarious and talked and laughed very loudly, making dinner unpleasant for the few solitary diners. It would have been appropriate for the manager to ask them to be a little quieter and when i mentioned it to the waiter he simply shrugged. Although I asked for an early wake up call, it did not come. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel. They seem to have stopped trying.

"FILTHY DUMP - STAY AWAY !!"

1
18/01/2016

We had a king suite booked at a discounted price and guess what - when we arrived it was not available !! Of course not, they got a group of 4 people that wanted it and wiling to pay full price so of course they would not turn them away !! The 2 queen bed room we did get was absolutely filthy !! There was pop or coffee down the wall behind the trash can, filth around all the walls at the the floor no matter if it was carpet or tile and the chrome fistures such as the toilet paper rolls and the bottle opener in the bathroom had never been wiped. I thought it was a petina on them from cleaners or age or air that had dulled all the chrome but I wiped a quarter size area on the toilet paper holder and they did shine ! OMG ?!?!? How disgusting !! One one of the beds had the mattress hanginig 8 - 10 inches off of the box spring on one side so obviously the box spring showing on the other - so obviously the sheets had not been changed on that bed or they would have seen it - another OMG !! The other bed had a metal bed frame turned sideways and the ends were sticking out the side of the bed 5 inches where I sat at the edge of the bed so when I say there I gouged my leg on it - great way to start a sunshine vacation - huge cut and bigger bruise on my shin and the other end of this sideways bed frame was sticking out a good 8 inches - now how or why is there a metal bed frame sideways and crooked ?!? Of course we got to be by the elevator to top all this off and absolutely no noise barrier stripping (like weather stripping but on interior doors of hotels) around the doors and a good 3/4 inch gap at the bottom of the door so we got to hear everyone and there conversations nevermind the house phone by the elevator that started ringing first thing in the morning. I could go on and on but I don't have time to write a novel at this time. Yes they were the best price around for our 2 night stay before our cruise, and no I do not just look for the cheapest joint around, we frequently stay in hotels and if there is a Best Western we stay at it, we have probably stayed in close to a couple of dozen Best Westerns, and have never had such a horrific stay with this well know brand, I cannot believe that Best Western would have their name on this filthy hazardous place !! Trust me, as much as you trust Best Western and want your points, forgo this dump and stay somewhere else. Another tidbit, his is by the airport at the port so there is nowhere to walk to to eat, shop or sight see. Beware - don't say you were not warned if you do still stay there, it is really that bad !!

"Close to Airport"

3
16/01/2016

This was our second stay here. It is convenient to the airport and offers "park and stay". The room, of course, costs more when you leave your car while you are away. And your car is at their mercy... ours came home with a ding from them parking too close and a careless attendant. Our first stay was in June and the rate was not too bad ($159.99, I think, plus a lot of taxes.) However, for this second stay, which started the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the price was raised to $209.99 (total with tax = $242.54)! Quite a jump in price for a holiday weekend... unless the regular price increased that much. We also had extremely loud neighbors... hard to put up with when you have an early flight. Lastly... the return shuttle took a really long time to pick us up, especially considering the hotel is only a few minutes away. For our next flight out of EWR, we just might try a different hotel. We will have to wait and see...

Close to airport with shuttle service - there are two BW hotels in the local area make sure you know the address of the one you stay at but transport people are happy to accommodate any errors - very helpful. Internet drops out every 3 hours this is annoying.

Unexpected and unrequested upgrade to a very well-appointed room with jacuzzi and 2 comfortable king-sized beds. Four large bath towels (unusual). Clean. Very reasonable price. Courteous front desk. Proximity to Newark airport. Remote didn't work and it was too late in the day to get if fixed before checkout but otherwise no snags.

Room oddly arranged and did not allow both beds to view TV, mattress was like sleeping on a trampoline, loud pipe banging noises occurred throughout entire evening and night. I was only staying one night so I did not complain or report anything to hotel staff.

Best Western is very convenient when you stay at the airport. They have a free shuttle from the airport and a free breakfast. I prefer the Best Western Hotel Chain. The staff is professional and efficient.

"Good Value for Outside of NYC"

02/01/2016

This hotel is newly renovated and very close to the airport. They offer a free shuttle to the airport and to the train station. You can pay to keep your car there for an extra night or two if you aren't staying in the hotel that night. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast, not amazing but it was fine. A few complaints: the walls are very thin, they didn't replace the tissues and there was hardly any toilet paper in the room, and at 7:30 AM an alarm (not sure if it was a fire alarm) started going off but it stopped a few minutes later.

"Good location between flights"

30/12/2015

The hotel is not in the ideal ovation but for in and out it was OK. The cafe needs help, it is dark with a fairly limited menu and poor service. The front desk staff could be more pleasant but the room was clean, It had WiFi.

"Third visit and still impressed"

30/12/2015

This is the third time we have booked this hotel thru park stay and fly. Accommodation was good, some minor room problems attended to within a reasonable time. The restaurant dinner was filling for our party of seven. There was another large party also there and both were served well. The trip to the cruise port was easily arranged and on time. We received taxi vouchers for the return trip after the cruise. We walked off the ship, over to the taxi stand and the dispatcher immediately arranged a van for our group. On return, our cars were promptly retrieved, and we were offered a complementary coffee. The staff were all very helpful and professional. We will use the Best WESTERN AGAIN.

27/12/2015

I have been staying at this hotel several nights a month for the past five years. The rooms are clean and the staff is professional. It is also nice to have a lounge/restaurant on site so I don't need to order delivered food. When the shuttle picks you up from Newark Airport, you arrive back at the hotel in five minutes. There is also easy access with their shuttle combined with a short train ride to New York City. I recommend this hotel highly.

was looking for a hotel near the airport to save time in and out. the rooms are clean and nice. the breakfast area was ok and so was the food. i asked for a special request to store my luggage for a few days until i return from a trip to Florida. not only the hotel provided this services, they carried my stuff to the terminal at no extra charge.

"Nice place to stay"

Near the aeroport , free transportation to the hotel. Full breakfast and it is quiet. We decided to reserved there because it is near the port of Bayonne to go for a cruise vacation. It was clean an room are large an nice.

"Completely insensitive to family crisis"

20/12/2015

I have never written a review before in my life. A child/family member ended up in a hospital last minute well before the reservation. the management could not care less about the plea for a refund. Right before Xmas. "Strict policy" -these are the worst kind of companies who really could care less about their customers and building good customer service. Avoid this hotel and this management.

"Great Hotel!"

14/12/2015

Stayed here twice, the place was so awesome! Very clean hotel and friendly staff! We ate at the restaurant and was surprised at how good the food was. Only takeaway would be to vamp up the lackluster breakfast offering.. Other than that, would stay again!

"Fine for one night"

13/12/2015

This hotel has a few spacious rooms with whirlpool tubs and the bed was comfortable. We could hear noise from the airport, which I suppose is to be expected but we could also hear noise from other guests at the hotel. Overall it was OK for a one night stay.

"Convenient quiet close to Newark Airport"

11/12/2015

Stayed following late arrival back to US from Hong Kong. Followed directions to the shuttle pick up point. Quick trip to hotel. Same treatment in the morning when we had to return to airport for flight back to our home. The room was spacious and very clean!

"Decent, Disappointing"

3
08/12/2015

I ended up at this hotel thanks to Priceline and was initially pleased when I walked into my room. It was quite spacious and had 3 windows. While the view wasn't great, I liked being able to get some natural light. Unfortunately that natural light showcase some very dirty carpet, pillowcases that may have been part of a mob hit, and a bed that had more sagging to it than Hillary Clinton without her Spanxx. The fitness room is a joke. Period. 4 devices packed into a room so small that you can't walk between them. A tv w no remote. Come on, BW, at least try a little bit. On the plus side, the parking was free and breakfast was decent. Overall, a B- or C+

"Not The Best, But It's Satisfactory"

3
08/12/2015

I only stayed here for a brief, very brief moment at the hotel. It isn't the best hotel I've stayed in, but it isn't bad either. It's clean for the most part, though the floor space underneath the sink was dirty. It looks like it had not been swept as there was a travel toothbrush and some clothing tags. Also the tissue box didn't look very clean. The rest of the bathroom was clean though as well as the room. The lighting is a little dull in the room, but it's ok. I don't like the carpet, but that's just personal preference, and I'm not into the beige doors, just a little blah to me. But staff was kind, check-in was incredibly easy, there's a free airport shuttle (and the airport is like 10 minutes away), there's satellite TV, which was a major treat to me, and the bed is comfy and clean. The site around the hotel isn't ideal. It's just parking lots, containers, buildings, and the airport. Nothing special about the view. But it's close enough to the airport and does the job for an overnight. One note though, at night at 11 PM, and this might not be the hotel's fault, but there was someone shouting in the halls. I was half asleep and was startled by it. I saw they had employees around cleaning rooms into the night and I like to think that it was guest behaving poorly by yelling in the halls at night and hopefully not staff. Lastly, if you're not having the continental breakfast at 7 then there's none, just coffee, tea, and grease muffins before then.

"A very good hotel at a great Price"

4
06/12/2015

I have stayed here before. The room was very nice and very quiet. My wife booked it and the price was much lower than nearby properties. It is next to Newark Airport and very convenient. They shuttled me back and forth to the airport to get and return rental car. People were very nice. Free Breakfast was very good with a number if different entrees. My only complaint is the quality of the fitness center. Not so bad that it stopped me from rebooking again. Our room was very large with 2 queen beds and a sofa as well as 2 sinks.

"Flight layover"

2
02/12/2015

We recently stayed at this airport during an overnight flight layover. We picked this airport for its location by the airport and more importantly, the airport shuttle. We arrived at 10:30 pm at the airport. We called for a shuttle and was told we had to be at the P4 location off the air train, then we could call back for a shuttle. So we made our way over to the shuttle stop, 5 minutes later and called again for a shuttle. We ended up having to call 3 more times for a shuttle. While we were waiting in the rain, the other hotel shuttles passed by several times. We finally got to the hotel after midnight. The hotel has only one shuttle and it is in no hurry to pick up. The next morning we had a 7:00 am international flight. We tried to take the 5:00 am shuttle but we were told that it was full (it wasn't at that time but apparently was waiting for late arrivals.) They told us to wait for the 5:30 shuttle, but since it was already running late, we decided it was better to take a taxi. So if you are counting on the use of the shuttle, I do not recommend this hotel.

"Great!"

01/12/2015

Big, spacious rooms, gracious staff, shuttle service and great facilities. Breakfast was of vast options, express breakfast offered for whomever is leaving early, close to the airport. ATM on site, nice gym. The hotel is located in a great place, although near the airport still very quite.

"second trip"

19/11/2015

the second saty at this hotel was not quite as enjoyable as the first. I'll use this hotel again. it's okay for the price. Marcy the front desk assistant is great. The staff is friendly. They offer shuttle to some awsome places.

"Conflicted... - Detailed Park & Cruise experience"

3
16/11/2015

My husband and I were going on a 5-day cruise out of Port Liberty. We kept debating on the best way to get there (coming from Long Island) and eventually decided on driving there early Saturday (day of departure) and parking at the pier ($20 a day). But with Hurricane Joaquin threatening to hit us hard, we didn't want to leave our car right next to the port and be worried about flooding all week. So, last minute, we found Best Western and their park and cruise (or Stay & Cruise?) package. It wasn't listed on their website so I had to call about it. I booked a king room over the phone for that night with the cruise parking package. We arrived to the hotel late that night because we'd gotten an email saying that our cruise itinerary had changed from Bermuda to Canada due to the hurricane, so we had to repack. We were already pretty frustrated because of that and when we checked in and got up to our room we found a two queen bed room instead of the king room we booked. We called down to the front desk and they said they were sold out and couldn't do anything about it. That was very frustrating, especially on top of the other disappointment of our vacation plans changing. In the morning, the manager gave us a 10% discount but I can't say it was enough to make us want to stay here again. Which is too bad because the bed was very comfortable, the room was huge (biggest airport hotel room I've ever been in) and everything was clean and up to date. Free breakfast was good as well. And the Park & Cruise is a GREAT value. We paid $180 for the package, after taxes and before the manager's discount. We would have paid $100 in parking at the pier, so basically for $80 we got a leisurely overnight stay (even if it was in the wrong room), no stress getting to the port the next day and a shuttle that got us to the cruise and picked up. That package includes parking up 10 days. The rate didn't change based on the length of the parking, so we didn't pay less since it was only five days. So it's a great value that way, especially if you're taking a longer cruise. The shuttle was worth it as well. Make sure you book a departure time with the front desk when you arrive! Overnight staff told us that wasn't necessary but I called the front desk again in the morning and they said you needed a reservation. We got there quickly leaving from the hotel but the return trip back took about 45 minutes. They give you a voucher for the return ride with a third-party company, so not everyone was going back to the hotel and, in a packed bus, we were the last stop. Didn't bother us but could be annoying to some. It just pains us that they screwed up our room and makes it unlikely we'd stay here again.

"A night of surprises"

4
13/11/2015

In previous visits to the Newark Airport the van from this hotel was the one that appeared to come most frequently to the airport, so I decided to take this hotel even though some of the reviews were not very good. This time I had to wait quite a while and then realized that I was not sure about the name of the hotel since the screen of my mobile phone had shattered the night before. First surprise. I called the hotel from one of the old fashioned phones at the airport. I asked if this was the hotel one mile away and they said yes (I knew that's where I reserved). However, they said they did not have my reservation. I had to call back and insisted and then they said my reservation had been cancelled by the reservation agency that I used, because my credit card would not go through. Second surprise. They indicated that they still had rooms and came to pick me up. The hotel is just outside of the parking lots of Newark airport. The van driver took me through somewhat dark alleys and then through a parking lot to get there. However, when I got to the hotel they solved the issue quickly, and provided me with a very clean room. The air conditioning system in my room was one of the most quiet that I have found at a hotel, even at hotels much higher priced. The internet service was the fastest that I found at a hotel, at least three times faster than at home. Third and fourth surprises. The hotel room was very quiet and I slept very well, even though I was next to the elevator. The free breakfast during the next morning was fine, and no problems. This hotel is a very good deal, and I will return in the future.

The offer a Van to / from airport and Penn Station Newark ( a few minutes from Penn Station Manhattan ) . The van took more than 1/2 hour to come and after went trough some small streets and some bad places ( at least they looked bad at night for me ) , but it is worth it for a late arrival em NYC via Newark . Good price , good bed and reasonable breakfast . There are Vans every 1/2 an hour to Penn Station , So it is safe , clean and easy . I recommend for people that wants to save money without sleeping inside the arport (lol ) .

"October Pre-cruise New York visit"

4
05/11/2015

We, and a few friends, wanted to visit New York before leaving on a New England, Canada cruise that left from Cape Liberty. We chose this hotel because it offered great value and service. The hotel fees included shuttle service from/to the airport and train station to New York. Also it included breakfast. The room was quiet, clean and had many amenities and the staff was great. We would recommended it to anyone.

"Great find! Free shuttle to Penn Station"

4
04/11/2015

My wife and I enjoyed the large room with jacuzzi and comfortable beds. Free parking of our car and we took the free shuttle to Newark and NYC daily 7-11 in morning and pickups at Penn Station at 7-11 at night. $2.75 and you are downtown NYC! Hotel has adequate breakfast and after hours lounge you can get a sandwich with variety of beverages. We stayed here for a week and very happy with hotel and staff who were accommodating. Not much around but easy to find on Gps.

"mediocre with poor front desk service"

2
03/11/2015

we stayed one night prior to a cruise vacation because the hotel was one of the cheaper in the area and it was close to the port. the front desk staff were rude. the lounge is very small and gets packed with people in the morning for breakfast. breakfast quality is not great.

"Good value for money"

02/11/2015

Stayed at this property on a night's stopover en route to St Louis. There is nothing fancy about the property but there are quite a few plus-es which make this hotel stand out among the ones in a budget scope in and around the airport area. Ample breakfast, free airport shuttle, free wifi, quiet sleep, a good restaurant -- Don't think you need much more for a night's stay on your transit. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone having a short duration stay in and around the Newark airport area.

"Better of the Bunch"

4
01/11/2015

I've stayed at several hotels in the Newark Airport area and this property is the better of the bunch (vs. Wyndham Garden and Country Inn). Room was clean and not dated, front desk staff helpful and friendly, breakfast area set up well (basic items hot & cold), restaurant on site with a bar. Parking and access are the negative points. Limited parking with a single in/out drive and the place is a bit hard to get too without knowing the area (or have a GPS unit).

"Free shuttle from/to Newark Airport, Free wifi, good tv, restaurant."

4
01/11/2015

We had to overnight at Newark Airport and this was very convenient with their free shuttle. Staff was helpful, because my reservation had somehow been cancelled and I think we got the last room. Free USA Today paper in the morning and free continental breakfast even at 4:30 am. We slept well and were on our way in time for our 7am flight.

"Shuttle driver goes above and beyond"

31/10/2015

If your stay at this hotel is for business or pleasure and you need a shuttle driver make sure you ask for Jose He is the BEST and made our trip pleasurable He will stay late to get you where you need to go and always with a smile Hotel was ok but bar/restaurant ran out of food way before closing time

"Proximity to NY"

5
31/10/2015

the hotel is very close to Ny and they offer free shutle to the train station, They have a very Economical Restaurant with grt food and Cocktail specials, tried their steak was to the point. staff is very friendly and so are the management authorities.

"Only good for overnight stay between flights"

2
29/10/2015

Why do I say this? We waited 1 hours to the airport, after four phone calls being told the driver was on his way. It's ten minutes away max from hotel. Another day We'd had to take a city bus to the airport because the hotel shuttle wouldn't pick up at Penn Station mid day. So we had a horrible bus ride thru the slums of Newark to get picked up by the shuttle at the airport. The am kitchen person didn't speak English so there was never creamers and sugar or a way to communicate with her. One day the entire 6th floor and part of the 5th floor was burglarized by armed thugs who allegedly broke into the maids storage to steal a pass key during the day. Yes they caught them but how did a pass key come to be left in a vulnerable spot!? Newark is as horrible now as it was when I lived in New Jersey decades ago. The hotel is located in a very unpleasant area with a long vacant bldg next door.

"Convenient stopover"

4
25/10/2015

This was an easy stopover from a long few flights. The courtesy coach from the airport was good, and they took us back in the morning which was a bonus. Rooms were average but reflected the price, free upgrade gave a bit more space. Free breakfast and wifi good, and a gym.

"Decent place to stay"

23/10/2015

My mom and I stayed here before a recent trip. The hotel was off the beaten path (without a GPS, I wouldn't have found it.) The parking lot was very tight, but we found a space near the front. We were meeting my mom there after her flight in to Newark, so we brought pizza. Unfortunately, there was no where to eat it except for our room. We had been hoping that their breakfast room could be used for that, but during the rest of the day, it's a real restaurant, so obviously it was unavailable. They did have one little nook with a table, but it was being used by other people watching a football game. My family and I took our pizza and my bags upstairs and down a long, not very well lit hallway, and found mom already checked into the room. The room was very clean, and nice and large. But it was one of the weirdest rooms I had ever seen. It was a long, narrow rectangular room, with the beds and desk on the left, the sofa and coffee table directly across from the door, the bathroom to the right, and a bathtub set into the corner. Yes, the bathtub was in the room, rather than in the bathroom. Even weirder than that, it was tucked into a corner, with the narrow side accessible via a step up. The room had two queen beds. My teenager commented on how weird it would be to bathe in a room with two beds. If you weren't intimate enough with your roommate to be sharing a bed, why on Earth would you be bathing in front of him? Anyway, we used the ironing board to set up our buffet, and sat on the assorted furniture to share our meal. I get that it's a room for 2 to 4 people, so it wasn't really comfortable for 6 of us to share a meal and be near each other. I would still give the hotel 4 stars because the customer service was excellent, the room was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. I'm taking a star away because the lighting in the room was really poor, and the tub was just bizarre. Another note to the adventurous plumbing, In the bathroom, there was another tub with a shower, and the drain was on the opposite side of the shower head. (Not taking a star away for that, I've just never seen that before, and I found it hysterical!) The morning breakfast was the standard hotel breakfast, great for free breakfast, but not something I'd pay for. The service at check out was top notch. We waited a few minutes for the shuttle van to the airport. Two vans came to get us and several others that were waiting. The drivers were friendly and competent, but basically wanted to get us all on-board with a minimum of conversation. We were quickly taken to the airport and dropped off with our luggage. The driver seemed surprised that we tipped him. I wonder if a lot of passengers skip that part. This is a wonderful hotel to stay at if you just need a base to tour from, or if you are heading to the airport in the morning. I would stay here again.

"Great find"

5
20/10/2015

I don't understand why this hotel has any bad ratings. I have stayed in worse many times! The quality of rooms in this hotel is good, the rooms are large and comfortable. The service has been great in both reception and the bar. Nice breakfast. Free coffee from the bar 24 x 7, free shuttle buses on request to the airport and at set hourly times to Newark Penn station. We booked a 48h hop on hop off for NYC which included free pick up and return from Times Square where the Gray line office is based. Great value and great service.

"Just A Stone's Throw Away From NYC."

17/10/2015

Newark Airport Bestwestern Hotel is a great alternative if you can't stay in the city and you have to do business there. Hotel staff is great, rooms are very clean and affordable. The only complaint was the hotel breakfast was not up to par. The breakfast at most Bestwestern Hotels is usually great, this property was a little off with the choices of what they had to offer. I would still there again but I would expect better breakfast options. That being said the service during the breakfast was great.

"Well located, good staff and reasonable cost"

4
16/10/2015

This hotel is well-located to Newark Airport with a complimentary shuttle to and from there. The check-in was speedy and the reception staff were all helpful, friendly and professional. The room was large and clean with good amenities and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was pretty basic with a limited selection available. Free wifi but a little unnecessarily frustrating to have to re-login every three hours. Despite it's location close to the airport noise was not a problem. However, it's location had one major drawback. Being right there in an industrial/roadways situation there was absolutely no close options for meals other than the on-site restaurant. Whilst the food and range were good, the experience we had was seriously poor. It was simply a bad comedy of errors with our fish and chips taking three hours to surface. Hopefully others will have a better time, and I would not hold our negative time against an otherwise good hotel.

"Nothing Best About it "

15/10/2015

Not what I expected did not like the area The Staff at reception very pleasant I must admit We arrived at tea time so being Hungry went to the restaurant we sat at a table but had to move as it was nearly facing toilet and stank we asked the girl behind the bar if it was ok and she just grunted at us then walked up to check table cracking her knuckles The young waiter was lovely and very friendly but his clothes were not clean The room was very spacious but could of been cleaner. We were suppose to stay for a few nights but one was enough

"great deal for the stay and cruise! cheapest and best we could find"

13/10/2015

beautiful room, shuttle to and from port liberty, hot breakfast. we drove from down south, so it was convenient to stay here the night before the cruise. went into NYC for the evening. Marci at the front desk was awesome. checked with other hotels, shuttle was 35 per person to the port, and pay for long term parking. we paid 250 for the night (4 of us in one room), shuttle for 4 to and from and parking for 5 nights for two cars.

"Great stay for business trip"

4
13/10/2015

I really enjoyed my stay here. Not exactly a great location in terms of walking to places (right off the highway), but I just had to stay overnight for work. The hotel restaurant is pretty typical - limited options - but the staff (especially Carlos! What a great employee you have there) were friendly, and there was really no where within walking distance, so the restaurant served its purpose. Though not within walking distance of anything, it's a nice option for those who don't want to stay right in NYC but can easily get to the city with shuttle services. Also nice and close to the airport (where I had to fly out the next day). The hotel served its purpose and I was happy with the service. Got a great rate off Priceline.

"Shuttle Driver"

The morning shuttle driver Jose is awesome! He drives safe and he always knows the quickest route. Also he is very fun person and makes me smile in the morning eventhough usually I am not a morning person. Thanks!

"Handy and Efficient"

10/10/2015

We had an early morning flight to catch from Newark International Airport. The hotel was a little out of the way and a tad difficult to find. Thank goodness for a GPS and a son-in-law and daughter who know how to use them. The hotel, while tucked away, was a touch like an oasis in the desert. It was perfect for our needs. The bar and restaurant were just the right size and ambience. Our barman should be on radio, his voice was as smooth as silk and his wine and beverages knowledge was up there with the best. The waitstaff friendly and good with suggestions as to choosing suitable menu items. We finally got to bed about 10pm very pleased we were staying there. Front desk organied an early morning call. Our shuttle to the airport was also hassle-free. I'd sure stay there again.

"Comfortable beds"

4
06/10/2015

We stayed at this Best Western the night before and the night after our cruise out of Port Liberty. The rate was very reasonable, and the rooms were clean and nice. The beds were very comfortable. The facility includes a small restaurant with a limited menu, and there are no other restaurants nearby. The did provide a nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. Not just a continental breakfast. Much more. They provided a free shuttle to and from the airport, but a reasonable fee was charged to get us to and from the Port. The drivers were friendly and very helpful. Our friends had a situation where the hotel and drivers were very helpful. Some insulin was left in the room fridge and it wasn't discovered until we were on the ship. When contacted, the hotel located the insulin, and transported it quickly to the port before we sailed. We were all greatly relieved. This is a nice hotel if you need or want to be near the port or the airport.

"Overnight at the airport"

02/10/2015

We arrived at EWR late at night so stayed overnight at the Best Western Plus Newark Airport before heading out to our destination. The room was comfortable and reasonably clean. It was difficult to get to and the area around the hotel was in major disrepair. I would not use this hotel again.

"Excellent and affordable hotel"

30/09/2015

I brought 80 people as a team for a conference. It was an excellent experience. I appreciate a lot to the management team, MJ and Beth for their assistance in booking and arrangement for our stay. Thanks to the staff there who offered great service. The breast was good. Highly recommended!!!

"Satisfactory, but could do better."

3
29/09/2015

I suppose the $145 per night fee may be considered reasonable for this area, but it did not equate to what you get for your money. The hotel is local to Newark Airport which does have it's benefits if you are travelling, but little things such as the TV being static on the wall and would not rotate toward the bed were annoying. In addition, the scrambled egg at breakfast was of the synthetic variety and reminiscent of a small soggy make-up sponge with about as much flavor (anything to save a penny or two I suppose) and there was no alternative egg dish. The penny pinching also extended to the coffee on the room which tasted more like dish water than coffee and instant would have been a better alternative, although this is common with most corporate hotel chains these days. In general, it was Okay for the purpose I needed, but they could do so much better especially if they were not filling their rooms based on location alone.

"Best Deal in the area, esp. for Park and Fly"

5

I've actually stayed here about 7 times, using their Park and Fly for usually around a month while traveling in Asia. The staff is always pleasant, especially the General Manager, MJ. The rooms are clean, updated, and comfortable, not 5 star, but you didn't come here for that. The prices these folks charge are amazing. For less than what most of the lots this close to the airport charge for parking alone, you can come here the night before, relax, have breakfast, and ride the shuttle 5 minutes to your plane. This IS the way to fly!
