Best Western Plus Hotel de la Regate

It is a pleasant undertaking. difficult to get to. That's why I only recommend it to anyone who wants to stay for a few days. breakfast at the level of this category of hotels. Spacious and pleasant rooms. Maybe I'll do it again with more time. this time it was just passing through...

We had an issue with the floor of our bathroom being wet. After using the shower, we noticed it was leaking from under the bath. This was reported, but we were told as it was late it would not be possible to have it looked at. We were offered to move rooms, but as this was a joint room, we could use the bathroom of the other room so stayed. We mentioned the issue again the next day on check out and this receptionist was not aware but said she would have it looked at. The following day I had €200 deducted from my bank. I rang up to see why and was accused of making a mess in the bathroom, flooding it. I was told a technician could not find an issue and so it must be ‘guest error'. After multiple calls about the issue I finally received a call and was told that after a visit from a second technician, there actually was an issue and received an apology. While I appreciate the apology, I wasted a morning of my holiday worrying and dealing with this issue and do not appreciate having a random fine deducted from my card with absolutely no communication beforehand. There appears to be no system for staff to log issues reported by guests, as if the issue was communicated effectively to the morning staff, they would have been fully aware and would have had that staff members testimony. Instead I was told that they would have to wait until that staff member started later in the day to get ‘her side of the story'. In summary instead of receiving an apology for a fault in our room, we received an accusation and a fine. The poor communication made this all the worse. If this is the type of service Best Western are proud of, I will certainly not be returning or recommending your hotels.

The rooms have no air conditioning. When we asked we were told they are an eco hotel, yet they have multiple single use plastics in the rooms (toiletries and amenities) and fans running all the time in the communal areas to keep it cool. Not very eco friendly after all! We will not stay here again.

The hotel has been renovated and the decor is lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. We was being lazy so chose to have the room service food. I didn't hold out high hopes, as usual the food is not great. But the food was so good and then the breakfast was good too. We cannot fault this place.

Lousy hotel this hotel is a disaster the rooms have no air con and are dirty and small . The staff at reception server wine that's not say it is . The noise from Dogs barking in the am wake you up . The restaurant is not a real restaurant the breakfast is dismal. They charge £10 for electricity for a Tesla . Great setting awful hotel.

A very lovely and friendly receptionist who welcomed us and assisted us for dinner needs. There was a strange smell in the room and hallway, not sure if it's just the carpet, which might need cleaning. The check out was lovely too. Plenty of parking too.

We always stay at this hotel on our way down from the GB to the Charente in France and also on the return trip. It is an excellent stop-over and pet friendly for our chocolate labrador. It is in a lovely location by the river with plenty of walks nearby.

We stayed at this hotel last year and reported on it. We stayed again recently and were distressed to find that the problems that we commented on had not been resolved. There is still a serious shortage of staff, both at the front desk and in the breakfast room. Those manning the front desk were very friendly and helpful, but several customers arrived at more or less the same time resulting in irritating waits. IT NEEDS MORE THAN ONE PERSON PRESENT IN THE LATE AFTERNOON. Also only one person was available in the breakfast room to clear the tables, lay them again as required, help with the tea and coffee and bring the hot food out of the kitchen. It is a pity that these issues still have not been addressed as, otherwise, this hotel would be highly recommended.

Booked for an overnight stay because we had to get to Nantes airport in the morning, arrived after an 8 hour drive from Calaise , what a gem of a place. Was truely not expecting the high stanards , the room was lovely and secure parking for the car. The hotel does not have an evening restaurant but there is a wonderful restaurant within the grounds. Also a great experience. expensive? Yes it was, but worth every cent. service was impeccible

Nice clean property with good breakfast. Only issue is no airconditioning. Might get hot during summer. But they did provide a fan and it was cool at night. Rather open concept with doors open and anyone can walk through. So remember to lock your doors. Nice short walk to the river with excellent view at sunset.

What a wonderful surprise, the hotel is simple and modern but confortable and decorated with pastel colours that refer to the place you are. The location is outside Nantes center, near a beautiful lake, castles and green forests, romantic and bucolic, perfect place to relax, make long walks or cimple enjoy a boat in the lake. We loved to stay here and will surely return. Just near you also find a perfect restaurant called Le Manoir de la Regate, excellent food and service.

Spent almost one week at this hotel during a business trip and was not very impressed by the hotel. It is located in the middle of nowhere without any restaurants or grocery stores within walking distance, which makes it quite inconvenient if you don't want to eat at the hotel or take a 20 minute drive to Nantes every night. Rooms where quite spacious, but not very modern although clean and practical. The rest of the facilities were quite standard, but I assume that a warmer time of the year would be beneficial. The hotel don't have a gym which was a bit surprising given the location. The highlight of the hotel was the friendly staff and a very tasty breakfast selection.

Our disappointment started at Reception. Only one person was available, to deal with several people trying to check in at the same time. After we had been checked in, my wife asked the person to make a booking for us in the restaurant. Rather surprisingly, she was told that the hotel no longer had a direct connection with the restaurant and, anyway, it was probably fully booked by another large party. My wife decided to see for herself, and was told that there was no problem, and we could have a table at the requested time. We subsequently enjoyed an excellent meal - four star. The following morning at breakfast only one girl was available to guide guests to food items, clear and re-set the tables and drive the coffee machine It was clear to us that something had gone badly wrong with the management of this hotel. We have stayed at Best Western Hotels in the past and always found them perfectly acceptable. This experience was not.

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel on our way to a gite in the Charentes. We stayed on the outward and return journeys again. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was very good indeed with plenty to choose from. On our return trip we could keep our room a little longer at no extra cost as we didn't want to set off for Cherbourg and our ferry too soon. We will definitely stay here again. It is in a lovely location by the lake/river which was great for our Chocolate Labrador who was also made very welcome. Highly recommended.

The welcome from the very professional team at the hotel to the facilities provided made our 4 day stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Our room was airy and well laid out with a wet room shower allowing good disabled access. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. Breakfast was extra but well worth the money. A full continental and warm breakfast. The food is fresh and mostly all locally sourced. The local area is nice and quiet and is not far from a beautiful river with many walks along its banks. Nantes is a short drive from the hotel and well worth the visit. Well delighted to find this perfect little hotel for our break. The receptionist/ manager spoke some good English and always helped us in what ever way we needed. Thank you

Bad stay at Hotel. Small old rooms, the restaurant connected was fully booked with no alternatives and only offered one meal for room service. The service at the reception nice but very slow Not recommended

Stayed here one night. We had a car so didn't worry us that it was a bit out of the way. Very quite, lovely to walk along the nearby river. Fridge in room, fast internet. We had an upgrade from a classic stay to a superior room. Very comfortable bed. Loved the buffet breakfast.

I have stayed here now two times during a business trip. Both times I enjoyed my stay here and I will come back the next time I am in the region. The hotel is located at a beautiful spot near the river. If you want you can start a run or hike from here. The view across the river is nice too. Not so much from the rooms but if you just step out of the hotel you get the view over the river. The rooms have a pleasant look and they seem very clean. The rooms I had were not that big but it was definitely big enough for me and it had all I needed. The bath room looked good and clean as well. Wi-Fi is complementary and has a good speed which is important to me when I catch up on emails and other work during the evening. The hotel has a nice breakfast. Next to the hotel is also a nice restaurant which do great French cuisine I would recommend this hotel when you are in the area.

Really comfortable beds, modern ensuite; free secure parking. Breakfast extra, usual Continental style. Very clean rooms. This is a quiet quality hotel, ot is a modern building behind the restaurant, which my or may not be part of the hotel. About 100 yds from the hotel is a river with some small craft on it and a wooded area where people go jogging in the morning.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel De La Regate in Nantes on our way to our holiday destination in the Charentes region of France and again on the way back. The accommodation was excellent, the bedroom was very well appointed and quiet and we had a good night's sleep in the really comfortable bed on both occasions. Our chocolate labrador was welcomed too and the whole experience was first class. The reception staff were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and the buffet breakfast was very varied and catered amply to our tastes very well. We hope to visit again next year and can highly recommend this hotel which is in beautiful surroundings near to the river with some good walks.

Lovely hotel in a very quiet position with great views. Hotel and room very clean and the staff very friendly. Bre akfast was excellent but had trouble getting something to eat in the evening as restaurant fully booked especially as we had a small child with us. Would definatly recommend.

We arrived a little too late to get in the restaurant, but were offered room service(from same place) which though pricey was very nice. Lovely rooms, comfy beds, Friendly staff good breakfast Location was lovely though we dident get chance to look around much.

Very quiet location adjacent to, but a couple of minutes stroll from the river Erdre. We used the restaurant on the first night of our stay and found the food, wine and service of the highest quality. Now to the hotel itself....... The prestige room on the first floor boasted a river view albeit some 100 metres away and very limited in nature... Somewhat disappointing. Well appointed room but coffee and creamer were not replenished for the second night and we found ourselves short of a bath towel which finally arrived when requested from reception. We went to the bar for an early evening drink and thought we would sit in the front garden but found the white furniture dirty and covered in ants. The area around was strewn with used metal bottle tops. We then ordered two drinks and 15 minutes later were still waiting for them to arrive. We cancelled the order and left the bar somewhat frustrated. Breakfast was sketchy, there were the congealed remains of scrambled egg, which was not renewed and an empty filter coffee jug. We were offered cold stewed coffee from the kitchen, which was then reluctantly re-heated in a microwave. All of the above contributed to a feeling of dissatisfaction. This is a Best Western Plus Hotel which fell far short of expectations for the price paid.

excellent hotel, excellent staff and excellent food. The rooms are lovely. The setting is brilliant (on the River Erdhe). The only problem is the Regate is 25 miles from the Airport.but easy to find with a sat nav. hopeless without a sat nav there is a good car park. there is also a good 30 min bus service (no 75) from the corner (a 100 yard walk). 2 euros for an hour's travel . Be aware that there are no shops or restaurants for about 5 miles - so a car is a must. Just a superb hotel with superb staff

Hotel is situated near the water with many lovely walks nearby. Rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is small and booking is essential.Breakfast was excellent The bar is extremely expensive and worth avoiding

The hotel is very nice and it's very close to the veterinary place in Nantes. It's also very close to the river. The room was always very clean and the bed comfortable. The restaurant is very good, gourmet style, so it is a little bit expensive but worth it.

4 nights Aug/Sep 2016 - made to feel at home. +ve: ***** Staff excellent. Polite, helpful, very professional, solution finders. On arrival at midnight after a long trip the 24/24 reception staff made us feel absolutely welcome. We had a choice of a ground floor room looking over the parking or an upper floor room with a better view; chose downstairs twin room as more spacious. A decent meal served at 00:30 in the lounge. **** breakfast, fresh varied choice, nicely laid out tables with pristine crockery/cutlery. Wonderful lady at breakfast staff - discrete and helpful, very welcoming and attentive. Nice table area. Could easily spend an hour at breakfast! **** Very clean rooms. Comfortable bed and pillows. Big wardrobe. Minibar. Coffee and tea in one side of the wardrobe which I didn't see until leaving... **** Spacious shower room with all shiny quality taps. Good shower pressure, hot water perfect. **** outside hot jacuzzi very pleasant! **** beautiful walks on the river at 50m distance (many cyclists and joggers without being busy). -ve: a little too warm for me on hot days but no problem sleeping. *The nearby (independent) restaurant had nice 'ok' food although a bit too pricey. The waiters/waitresses there seemed to lack experience (kept forgetting which tables ordered what - lots of returning with plates to kitchen to ask who for, then served cold). Our mains were forgotten completely and tried to serve cheese before. Then waited an eternity for mains which were presented on different non-matching plates for the table? Bit weird. Very disappointing for the price. Expected much better for 95€ without wine! The non-pro staff definitely diminished the experience for me. Overall definitely would go back to the hotel!

We stayed here as a group for a family celebration. Good reception and the breakfasts are worth it. Rooms are OK, a bit hot, and there is a supplement for a view. It is a distance to Nantes itself and the park/ride too, but a short walk to the Erdre fiver which is well worth it. There is room service. Overall we would come back.

We, amongst others, were en route elsewhere....we wanted a comfy, luxurious-ish overnighter where we could have an evening bar type meal, glass of wine, comfy sleep and an included breakfast before travelling on the next day. We didn't. This hotel is a great stop over but, unless you are a rich gourmand, it has a very expensive evening menus starting at 22 euros each in the restaurant with no bar options; and there is nothing else remotely within walking distance - unless the pizza / cafe 1.5 miles away at the university is considered an option...we passed it n leaving the next day... So, you need to drive if you want to eat, or bring your own pique nique with you from the supermarche... Rooms are bijou, not large, but clean and well presented. If you open the window beware the mossies, the Reigate in the title gives the game away, you're near the river. Spa is a joke, two rusting metal loungers by a jacuzzi sized hot tub outside in the shade. However, great private parking and plentiful breakfast, and fast fee wi fi...and a very tranquil location... Value for money? No. Will we back en route? No. Were we treated with courtesy and respect? Absolutely yes, flawlessly. Would we recommend it for or to anyone? Sadly No. Do we regret having stayed there? No, all part of life's rich tapestry..not our ideal hotel, or giving us what we wanted - but very nice all the same.. Hope this helps you with what to expect if you are considering going there...

The room was very small, smelly, the carpet had seen better days & looked out over scrubland. Off the beaten track, only the hotel restaurant to eat, which was pricey, particularly the drinks 5.50€ for a bottle of water! No ambiance, in fact rather an unpleasant experience, certainly wouldn't recommend, not even for an overnight stop. We would have been better at a hotel which was more central & could have had a nice 4* for the same price. A big mistake.

The building looks uninviting at first. Inside, however, it is quite modern and comfortable. Check in was trouble free and the room was pleasant enough. The restaurant was in front of the hotel and was a little pricey. The food however was very good.

It looks like Alcatraz from the outside, but oh, inside it is just what one wants. It is new, elegant and has the most immaculately clean rooms I have ever seen in a lifetime of staying in hotels. The rooms are small, but tastefully and comfortably furnished and very clean with all the amenities one could wish for. The only disadvantage was no air conditioning. It seems to be a hotel for corporate and conferences, but we saw little activity that would cause issues for ordinary travellers or holiday makers. It is well off the beaten track but very convenient for Nantes and the airport. One major PLUS is an excellent restaurant, but I will review that separately. A very high standard of nouvelle cuisine indeed. About 200 metres from the hotel is the delightful river Erdre with the magnificent chateau across the water and some lovely walks along its banks to unwind in the morning or at the end of the day. This is a super hotel in a nice location with a great restaurant. We only went there as a stopover on our way further into Brittany - BUT WE CAME BACK for the restaurant. There was nothing here that we could criticise.

The hotel is quite modern and rather ugly but it is set in a lovely peaceful location overlooking a lake. There is a beautiful separate building at the front of the hotel which is a restaurant. Rooms are clean and quite adequate and it has the added bonus of a secure car park which is locked at 9pm. We had a very enjoyable evening meal in the restaurant. The manager was first class and explained every dish on the menu. The restaurant is very popular so it is advisable to book a table in advance. Next morning in the hotel breakfast was ok but quite expensive at 14 euros per person. All the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful and I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

This was an overnight stop over, between Cherbourg and home. It was good value, clean, and just what we needed. Having a restaurant on site was welcome, after a long day driving. Secure parking was also an important factor for us.

We stayed two nights here having booked only that morning because of a change in our plans. It has an old medium size building, which contains the restaurant, with a detached very modern building containing most of the bedrooms, the breakfast area and a combined reception and bar. Our bedroom was on the ground floor, facing the residents car park, but there was no late-night or early morning activity to disturb our very peaceful stay. The room was furnished in the typical Best Western modern style, with a very comfortable bed, rather awkward cubist furniture and a wet-room style corner shower room. The hotel provides good short-stay, stop-over, accommodation and helpful interested staff. The restaurant belongs to higher league and seemed to cater for as many locals as residents. Good, easily enjoyed, French cooking is the order of the day. The only slight problem is finding the place. It is hidden at the end of a road through a large modern university complex, which then becomes an older-style urban housing area. Once you know where you are going, the small signs pointing to the hotel become more noticeable. The first attempt is more challenging, but it is well worth the effort.

We arrived at this hotel for two nights to be told that the restaurant was full for that evening. Thanks for not telling us! As it turned out we ate at a nearby restaurant which was great. We'd selected this hotel for its quiet location and for sure it is in a very quiet place. The staff friendliness varied, sometimes it was very good but at other times it was a bit off hand. The toilet did not flush very well and despite advising the reception, nothing was done about it. Typical large chain hotel that could do with better management. We did dine at the hotel on the second night and the food was good but not great.

Located on the Erbe, the hotel provides great service with friendly staff and a quiet retreat whether for business or leisure. The restaurant is also to be tried as menu offered is of great quality. The hotel would certainly suit families that are looking for a unusual place to stay outside the buzz of the city centre.

The hotel is located somewhat of the city center in a very nice environment. It takes about 10-15 min to reach the center by car. Personnel is very friendly, hotel looks very good, rooms are nice. Parking is no problem. Breakfast is a good buffet. It is a top hotel if you can stand the driving into the town.

The hotel was pleasant enough but our whole Nante experience was spoiled by the poor advice from reception. The room was small but nicely appointed. A juliet type balcony was a bonus and found in all rooms it seems. Restaurant next door was good and not as expensive as it first appeared.

The hotel is situated on a beautiful riverside with no through traffic. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with every convenience. The result was a good night's sleep followed by a pleasant breakfast. I couldn't ask for anything more.

A lovely peaceful setting on the river Erdre 11kms outside of Nantes. Professional and welcoming staff who cannot do enough for you.Picturesque surroundings with lovely seating areas to enjoy relaxing in the sun. The area around the river is delightful to walk round with beautiful trees and views. This hotel has a first class restaurant with a chef of a very high calibre. Would recommend you book a table as it is also open to non residents. The hotel also has an extremely good buffet breakfast. Free WiFi and parking.

We stayed in this hotel for 1 week in August 2014. The staff are so helpful with everything. Would advise a hire car as it is out of the way. The location is beautiful with beautiful walks along the lake. Recommend you book breakfast as there are no shops nearby. We couldn't get booked in to the restaurant. However, the menu looked excellent and it was always busy which is a good sign. The rooms are lovely, modern and spacious. The bathroom was lovely and shower was powerful and inspired us to revamp our own bathroom when we got home! Drinks at the bar were pretty expensive. Could be that it was an imported drink that bumped the bill up, husband is partial to Bailey's!

I have stayed at this hotel twice on business trips. The hotel itself is good with pleasant rooms and a very good breakfast buffet. It is located outside the center of Nantes near the Loire river in peaceful surroundings. I can recommend the attached restaurant which serves excellent food and wines and very reasonable prices.

The hotel is placed in a very nice and peaceful place (river Erdre can be seen from the hotel together with La Gacherie, a castle built on oposite side of the river). I appreciated a lot the involvement of the hotel managers and personnel in energy and water saving, minimising waste and using renewable energy. Different sports can be performed around, while enjoying the French wines and dishes. The hotel is well integrated in the landscape, while combining something old (the restaurant) with somethiing new (the hotel), something borrowed (the geothermal heat) with something blue (the sky).

I really enjoyed this hotel . the restaurant was a treat. Great gourmet food great price. We opted for the 21 euro menu and were pleasantly surprised Very nice setting,eco friendly.This hotel would be amazing in the summer time. staff were very friendly and helpful we don't speak French but we communicated as they had English

Nice surroundings,green areas, river, castle in front. Ideal for meetings. Jogging along the river Modern hotel and good staff. Small a bit too small for 2 people. Breakfast OK. Book with time the restaurant for dinner. Very good meal.
