"Relaxing break"
RoseMunster, 04 Octobre 2024

We stayed here during the first week of September for a couple of nights and really enjoyed our stay. We met Lysandre at reception and made us very welcomed and was very helpful with information on things to do in Nantes during our stay. Our rooms were lovely and bright and clean. Definitely would stay here again if I was in Nantes again

"Perfect weekend stay apart from the weather."
alisontZ6167ON, 26 Septembre 2024

Small, clean, comfortable, quiet rooms, spacious walk in shower, lift to most floors. Great position walking distance to most services and excellent public transport. Staff all so helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast with extensive variety hot and cold.

"Wouldn't return "
Happytravellers94, 10 Juin 2024

Small reception area but adjacent to it is an attractive bar/lounge. We had great difficulty finding the hotel car park, we decided before arriving that we would leave our cases/luggage in the car and only take what we needed for our 2 night stay at this hotel as it is quite a walk from the car park and you can't get near with a car as it is in a pedestrianised road. Our room was on the 5th floor and was an upgrade ( because it had an A C!) The room was small with no outlook at all and smelt of old food/cooking. There was evidence of refurbishment and the shower room was nicely done. The corridor and stairs are nicely decorated with a Jules Verne theme of wallpaper. Breakfast was hugely disappointing, bananas that have turned black greet you as you enter - why don't the staff remove them - they were there on both our mornings. The bread was stale, there was scrambled eggs, loads of jars of jam and honey to fill up the space. We did enjoy the Cafe Long and the selection of nuts in the jars.

"Not the best option for a hotel"
Getaway553890, 16 Septembre 2023

We booked a Best Western for our family trip thinking that this would be a good hotel. One star is more than it deserves. When we arrived at the location, there was little information about where to park our car. When we asked the front desk, the gentleman was not helpful and redirected us to a totally different area to park. We decided to ask someone else who told us that we could park overnight on the street directly beside our hotel (this information came from the front desk person at a different hotel). We booked two rooms each room only had 1 double bed. These rooms were so small, you could only have a bed. There was no mini fridge so if you need to keep anything cold, you can forget it. These rooms had no a/c which is fine if the fan they provided actually worked. When we arrived, it was a heat wave - we are talking 35 degrees C. It was extremely hot and there was no breeze since the fans did not actually blow anything. We wanted to open the windows but of course, these rooms are above a restaurant so that meant noise till around 2am. I can't speak for the other floors but the I did speak to another couple who also experienced the same thing we did.

"Lovely stay in Nante"
Anu1, 20 Août 2023

Great location, closer to restaurants and lovely walking areas! Appreciated a complimentary cup of tea and snacks during the day and relax in the seating room. Reasonable parking close by. Hotel is on pedestrian street, If you are travelling by car, do not put hotel address as your destination, put 6 Rue de Héronnière, this will bring you closer to hotel without hassle of blocked streets.

"Quirky, personal hotel with an amazing bed!"
slashthegreen, 30 Avril 2023

Great modern hotel with modern rooms, the whole hotel is themed around Jules Verne which makes it quirky, colourful and fun. Staff were really friendly and happy to give out recommendations and advice, and provided a warm experience at check in and check out. The room itself was fitted with a kingsize bed that was firm but really comfortable, in part due to the hotel putting a duvet under the bottom sheet to provide a sandwich of softness. It was actually better than our bed at home, which is saying something! The hotel was also well located within the city, with restaurants only a few minutes walk, and for other attractions which were about 15-20 mins walk its easy to get on the tram (€1.70 for an hour travel pass, free on weekends) to get there in minutes. Overall Nantes is a great place to visit, we're already looking at coming back and this hotel gives a friendly personalised service for a great price - incroyable!

"Beautiful , clean comfy hotel ."
Jaycie W, 17 Avril 2023

Fab location , spotlessly clean very friendly helpful staff , really comfy bed , even tho location is central it was quiet at night . Everything was lovely . Nice big shower . Would 100% recommend . Great location for exploring Nantes . Near all local landmarks

"Horrible service!"
Lina S, 02 Janvier 2022

We arrived with a booking off Priceline that said free breakfast and parking included, and we didn't get neither! But to top it off, the guy at the counter had attitude and when we would show him the print itinerary from the confirmation email that shows all the details of our reservation he would act stupid and say that's not a valid confirmation! Yet that's the document Priceline asks we print or show to provide details of our reservation! Book the raddisson nearby! Much nicer, the only advantage here was breakfast and parking so we are now wasting time getting our money back from Priceline - but the customer service though!

"Small but very nice rooms. Great service. "
Tim_Braum, 16 Décembre 2019

Reception is very customer focused and they even speak English. Hotel is situated in the middle of the city. Right next to all the action going but still very quiet. Christmas market is very close. Not very easy to figure out public transport. Taxis are cheap though. 10 EUR to main station.

"Good Location, Good Value"
RingoGilkey, 03 Novembre 2019

Right in the heart of the City, this hotel was a good value. The elevator was out of action while we were there and management advised that ongoing renovations were the cause of the problem. But, since we did not see any sign of ongoing work I wonder how long the renovations were had been going on.

"Great Location, outstanding service, very comfortable hotel"
wapitimix, 13 Juin 2019

The location is great, right in the center, at walking distance from everything. Good restaurants and bars at the corner The staff was very friendly and helpful. We found the room very quiet and comfortable, perfect for holiday in Nantes. Rooms have been renovated recently. Good free wifi connection. We will go back there for sure next time.

"Super little hotel"
TwinkleFrance, 20 Octobre 2018

Wonderful town centre location. Large carpark only 2 mins away. Surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops. Super comfy beds and pillows. Friendly staff. breakfast excellent. Only downside was we were on 5th floor and the lift on my went to the 4th floor.

"disorganised, under refurbishment,no air con invery hot conditions, but lovely staff and location"
Mary B, 22 Août 2018

We didn't know when we booked that there is apparently a new owner, according to the signs around the hotel, and it is being upgraded. 5 hours after we arrived and left our luggage, we were somewhat surprised to be given a room where another family were still in residence! Given another room, very small, adequate, but no drawers or shelves to put your clothes, the 1 hanger width wardrobe was stuffed wirh duvets and pillows, no air conditioning, just a fan. We left the windows open the first night but after hours of motorbikes and boy racers, had to close it at 4am, and just sweat! Tiny bathroom, but clean and modern, with facecloths etc. Room servicing was a bit hit and miss. BUT, the staff were so helpful, brought whatever you asked for, breakfast was fresh with lots of continental choices, in a new basement, done on a submarine theme. Great location for ile de machines, cathedral, chateau, restaurants, etc and tram nearby but most places walkable with 20 minutes. Hundreds of refugees in tents in the park at the bottom of the street but not s problem.

"Good hotel marred by minor irritation "
David A, 13 Juillet 2018

On arrival, staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great both for access to eating places and the team. The room was small but well appointed with a large opening window. The bathroom was very clean with an easy access shower. My minor irritation was that on the second day of my stay the tea, coffee and water were not replenished. I reported it to reception but the same problem continued every day for the the final 3 days of my stay.

"What a lovely hotel"
rfpresents, 02 Mai 2018

Everything and everyone was especially helpful and kind. They let have a late checkout and served us gratis Tea as we waited in the lobby bar. I look forward to coming back also a wonderful location just down the block of the Opera House.

"Location good, service bad"
Miles K, 25 Avril 2018

The rooms are very small and when I arrived there was a mess left from a previous guest. For a two night stay my electronic key failed twice leaving me a trip to reception to sort it out. I had an issue with cleaning service. I always hang a “do not disturb” sign on my door because I don't t like my stuff being moved around for cleaning. While out, my room was cleaned and worst of all important receipts were thrown out. Company receipts which I needed refunding for. The hotel manager wasn't helpful and argued his point that a “do not disturb” sign doesn't mean the room won't be cleaned. For someone who travels for a livening this is a first. This wasn't a single event. The three colleagues I was traveling with experienced the same. The breakfast for 13 euros is just simply not worth it unlesss you have an affinity for cold cuts and white bread. One positive point and the reason they received 2 not 1 Star is the location which is central. Worse of all is the manager arguing his point and not trying to help me solve the problem.

"Best location in town, easy public parking nearby"
Patty L, 14 Mars 2018

Graslin / Royale is our favorite neighborhood in Nantes, especially since we are never tired visiting and revisiting La Cigale and Le Passage Pommeraye. As we came in with a car, the most logical choice would be Hotel Graslin as it is only one block away from the public Jacques Demy Médiathèque parking (about 15 euros per day, everywhere charges the same price in the city). Set your GPS to 24 Quai de la Fosse and enter from the lower street level (3rd level) as it has a wider entrance. Make sure you turn ahead into a smaller lane leading up to the entrance (otherwise, no big deal, there are numerous roundabouts in Nantes). After you parked your car, proceed to the 6th level and you will be on the same level as the hotel. Apart from parking, the hotel is good overall in its own right. Room is a bit small but the bedroom is quite modern. It is quiet and has a certain classic charm. A kettle and some coffee, tea are provided but there is no fridge. The price is quite attractive if you can pay in advance.

"Good service and bathroom"
Robberman90, 21 Février 2018

Great location but the room needed some TLC. The bathroom was new and refreshed but the rest of the room wasn't. The carpet was horrible, very long and feels unclean. The room needed a refresh like the bathroom.

"Very warm welcome - Cosy room"
Alexandre S, 11 Février 2018

What a surprise when getting into the room to find a welcome written note by hotel management and chocolates to welcome us, obviously thanks to my Best Western status, but still first time ever my status is recognized as such. We stayed in an upgraded 2 beds room, very wide and cosy. One possible improvement: please get rid of these horrible French blankets and put proper duvet on top of the beds. Building is interesting with its Art Deco inspiration. Great location.

"3*** with 5***** rating"
GlenLoan, 13 Novembre 2017

Perfect city centre hotel for this reviewer - good price, fantastic location - neat clean tidy and spacious rooms and for me offers a breakfast which I feel is important in a city centre hotel when staying for a short break or visit. Good comfortable bed - free wifi and room safe . Perfect location "on the GREEN line" that is one for those who know about nantes - close to tram and airport bus stop - in a quiet street safe and clean.

"Very good price/quality"
alain V, 10 Octobre 2017

Located in the center of town. 100 metres from opera The rooms are nice, bed is perfect. Bathroom is new with a lot of comfort. The breakfast is complete and staff is descrete, friendly and helpful. Perfection business or city trip

"Great location, in process of being refurbed"
The-Grand-Sophy, 22 Septembre 2017

Mainly we were quite happy with our stay here and would consider it if we come back to Nantes - however there were a few oddities. The best thing about it is its location - ideally situated both for walking round the main town for shops/restaurants and for a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction to Les Machines D'Isle which was the point of our visit. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Now the odd things - the hotel states very clearly in reception that it's being refurbished but you don't realise it's actually in the rooms you're staying in. When we arrived the small entrance to our room had no ceiling, just exposed to pipe work and wires above, the following day when we got back most of the ceiling tiles were in place and the day after it was complete. I don't know if this had an affect on housekeeping or not but our rooms weren't thoroughly cleaned - the beds were turned down but the dirty coffee cups were left. We mentioned to reception who sorted it out for the following day. The bathroom also had the dirtiest tooth glass I've ever seen in a hotel. The breakfast really isn't worth the price.

"Everything we Needed, Nothing We Didn't"
danika_ao, 23 Juin 2017

Staff was friendly; our room was a decent size, very clean, quiet; location is great. We did not know where to park upon arrival, but once we realized the garage is just down the street, parking was not an issue at all. We were very comfortable here. Good value.

"Nice hotel - parking situation more difficult"
jentom03, 05 Juin 2017

Having learnt from this trip that a Parking recommendation means nothing on hotel search websites - this hotel was no exception. The claim to have parking online does not mean in reality. I contacted the hotel in advance and was told I could park on the street outside (ok but there are bollards across the street in front of the hotel), or in a self service car park near by. Fine - but the one way system in Nantes make this a difficult en devour. Finally parked - in the wrong car park - we found the hotel. Rooms average - tea tray though in the room was nice and the ambiance of the hotel was stylish - but full on mold to be found in the bathroom ventilation. The highlight was that parking was only 10,70 euros, instead of the 14 euros I was informed it would be. Please hotels in city centres, do not say you have parking on your profiles, when you do not, you are located near public car parks. Self service car park means no we do not have parking, but you can hedge your bets in the local parking lot and hope you get a space.

"Smallest Double room with no air conditioning!"
diplomatBonn, 18 Mai 2017

Luckily we booked only one night in this hotel. To find this hotel with a gps was not easy to begin with! Lots of small one way streets. Our four wheel drive cannot fit into the parking garage and we parked down the road where we had to put money into the parking meter every two hours until 7pm when it is for free. The double room, too small, difficult to fit suitcases and two adults in the room. It was warm and no air conditioning or fan. The bathroom was modern and nice. Reception staff was also friendly. The breakfast was an extra charge and good too. The room was 104 euros a night and that is too much for such a small room.

"Great location and very helpful staff"
Rex S, 02 Mai 2017

Centrally located with ready to access to sites. Staff was welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. Awesome breakfast, though had to pay extra. Off cite parking in parking garage was reasonably priced. The room was clean, quiet, modern and quite pleasant.

"Excellent Small hotel in city Centre"
A-Wildgoose, 15 Octobre 2016

Stayed at the Best Western Hotel Graslin for 3 nights and could not fault it, the room was small, but that is France, the bed was comfortable, the sheets crisp and clean and the shower hot. Staff were extremely helpfull. Breakfast ofered a wide assortment catering to all tastes. Located a short walk 150metres from the Tram stop at Mediatheque. Trams are easy to use to get there from the Gare SNCF.

"A very conveniant hotel"
Paul D, 16 Août 2016

Centrally located in Nantes the hotel is very convenient. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't have any air conditioning and didn't hand out extra water when requested (a bit mean really). If the weather is hot (as was the case when I visited) the rooms can be stifling (despite the fans provided). The hotel doesn't have any parking facilities although there is a municipal car park just around the corner which can be used. Having moaned a little about the hotel I would say that, given it's location, is quite good value for money.

"Good hotel in a good location "
jon127, 24 Juillet 2016

We had a corner room with two french doors, room was smallish but quite adequate, staff on reception were great, we were travelling on a motorcycle and they stored all our luggage after we checked out so that we could explore the City. Great restaurant with fantastic food next door too, if your booking in and want an evening meal ask the hotel to book the restaurant for you as it gets busy.

"Dated and modern "
Mats I, 05 Juillet 2016

As I entered the small lobby all I could think was "oh my God". Everything is dark wood and heavy red velvet. But the staff was friendly and when I got to my room it was surprisingly different from the public areas. Light and newly refurbished, modern and stylish bathroom and a nice bed. Nothing over the top but good

"Brilliant little hotel"
T5andG5, 02 Juin 2016

Stayed in this lovely small hotel for a long weekend break. The staff were really helpful. The central location was excellent for our sight seeing purposes. there are two excellent restaurants either end of the small road. We loved Nantes and staying at the Graslin made for a wonderful stay.

"Superb hotel"
Rebecca H, 12 Mars 2016

Great location which was super easy to find via the tram. The room was spotlessly clean and really nicely decorated too - the bathroom was great and the shower just awesome. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was very good as well with an excellent variety and delicious pancakes!!

"Great little hotel in the centre of Nantes"
SwanseaCarrie, 08 Octobre 2015

We chose this hotel based on our good experience at the Best Western hotel in Bordeaux. We were not disappointed. Fantastic location right in the centre with secure parking in a covered public car park just two minutes walk away. Room was clean and comfortable with a everything you need. Breakfast was the usual buffet with plenty to eat. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent choice for the price and would use it again.

"Discover Nantes, use excellent Best Western Graslin as your base"
Paul K, 14 Septembre 2015

Really impressed by this Hotel, it punches way above it's weight. It's in a cool area with several restaurants and bars just around the corner from the entrance. The room was clean, comfortable and really impressive, smallish yes, but so was the rate! Do research on parking if you're arriving by car or better still don't bring a car to Nantes as there seems to be a serious parking problem citywide. Even the parking downside does not dampen my regard or enthusiasm for the Hotel Graslin. Nantes + Best Western Graslin are definitely on a 'return to' list.

"small but great staff"
Tracy B, 15 Juillet 2015

The gentleman that greeted us was very helpful and spoke good english, the room was very small but had nice big windows so we were able to cool the room a little. we had tea and coffee facilities and a small but functional bathroom the bed was comfortable and the room was clean but it seems as though the rooms could do with a little decoration and brightening up, the rest of the hotel was decorated in a nice classic style. The location is good for shopping and the town centre however, if driving be very aware!! there are a few carparks nearby, but the hotel is not easy to drive to and getting caught up in the one way system on a saturday morning was a bit hectic. we had to park the car in the graslin carpark nearby (around 13euros per 24hrs which is quite good) and take our cases to the hotel on foot which was around a 5 minute walk, this was fine for us but if you have a lot of luggage or little ones it'd be a struggle i think.

"Small but very clean"
SophieT68, 22 Juin 2015

We had a one-night stop-over on our way back home and decided that this place was within our budget and well-rated. The room was tiny and very basic - did not have aircon or a fridge/minibar which one tends to expect in a 3*. The bed was okay. Not very easy to find, it is located in the heart of the town and not accessible by car, which can be a problem for people with walking difficulties, lots of luggage or toddlers. I wish this had been specified beforehand. On our arrival we were met by two obviously junior receptionists (first a man, then at night a woman) who did not offer any kind of information, advice or greetings (the woman). However, upon check-out on Sunday morning the male receptionist was very warm, smiling and friendly and we felt instantly comfortable with him. We even shared a joke, which was nice! We do recommend this place for couples, people who want a nice place to sleep of good value. Did not have time to try breakfast, alas!

"A good local feel"
Paul G, 22 Juin 2015

When I first arrived at this location I was very upset. They had only steps to the registration, their elevator was small, did I say small??? and the rooms do not have air conditioning. After I was able to settle down, I saw that the facility was actually quaint and endearing for a more local feel to the city. To not have English speaking channels (other than one news station) and no air condition, it was a challenge for me. I was told by the Best Western Reservations that breakfast was included. Alas, when I arrived was told it was an additional cost. That is sad to promote one way and doing something else. The staff was friendly and warm and helpful (again, I needed to calm myself.) One gentleman specifically - was very friendly and helpful and spoke English well. He assisted with my luggage with the steps when I left. Housekeeping was grand and the room clean -- except for the carpet. It does need some help. I slipped in the shower and asked for and given a mat for the shower. However, no apology for hurting myself. The breakfast, ah yes, that -- totally non-American. Do not expect the ham, eggs, bacon, bagels and like. They did have some scrambled eggs and a form of bacon and some nice crusty baguettes. On my last day they had a local delicacy that was quite good. Wish they had more. The room was clean. As the way with many European facilities, they did not have and could not provide bar soap. They use a body wash/shampoo combination. For me this is not good, I will need to travel with my own soap. Also, they made no effort except to send me to a store to buy some.

"Good location but nothing special"
J M L, 17 Juin 2015

Excellent location, near the opera and good eateries. Walking distance to castle and cathedral. No parking. Parking garage near by. Access not easy GPS routes you over pedestrian streets. Hotel rooms cozy but small. Breakfast provided at extra cost good value.
