"Great small room"

4
14/09/2018

Nice hotel, quick check in and checkout, friendly staff (especially the person at the front desk early morning (~6am), I do not remember his name but he was really nice/friendly !!!). Great location, quiet, and good wifi. I appreciated the (daily) water bottles and small fridge. Only drawback: My room was quite small.

"This Is Where To Stay"

14/09/2018

I travel to montreal 2-3 times a year & a couple years ago i decided to give this hotel a try after a bad experience elsewhere. Right from the start the front desk staff treated me so well. One time we arrived & the rain was pouring outside. Once they heard we were going shopping on st cathernies street the young lady came out from behind the desk to offer us an umbrella to use for duration of the stay. Last trip there the airlines got me into montreal way earlier than i had planed. I went to the hotel knowing they would hold my luggage until check in time but of course front desk attendant did one better they got me into a ready room with no extra charge even though i was way early. Even when i meet staff in the hallways they always say hello & or wishes me a good day. Things like that make you feel welcomed. I soon have an upcoming trip to montreal & i booked my room there again as soon as my flights were confrimed.

"Very pleasent experience."

Had a great stay. Very friendly staff and great location to walk around as a tourist. The room was cozy and the bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again if I was to return to Montreal. ....................

"Not very clean"

2
04/09/2018

The front desk staff very nice. After that downhill. The lobby floor was filthy. The carpet in lounge area not vacuumed. Torn up pieces of paper sat there the entire day. Within view of front desk also the carpets in hallway visibly dirty needing a good vacuum. No water pressure from shower. And no shampoo had to track down so add. The duvet cover was so dirty with very visible black dirt in it. Pretty much did me in. We were so disgusted. I bet they are never ever washed. This hotel was so disappointing. The only saving grace was that it's centrally located. A lot of younger clientele so I guess it's why hotel doesn't care. We've stayed here twice but time to move on.

"Not family friendly"

03/09/2018

We are a family of 5. We like The Best Western chain because it is one of the few that can accommodate us. In this case however, it was very poor. The room is SMALL. When the pull out couch is laid out as a bed, you can barely move in the room. Even though they knew we were 5, we only had 3 towels. The room is dark too. Only one small window looking out at another wall - adding to the cramped feel. It was also dirty. The couch/bed felt grimy, the floors weren't properly swept, housekeeping didn't even empty the garbage, which was overflowing. And when I had to pick up a small toy that went under the couch it was very clear that hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Open and half-full beer bottle in the elevator at 10am, etc. All this for a large price tag. And the biggest disappointment is no pool for the kids. It was such a change from the Best Western in Quebec City Centre that we had just left, which was absolutely wonderful and half the price.

"Very Disappointed!"

01/09/2018

e went to this Hotel in August and booked a suite that was supposed to be able to accommodate 5 people. We paid alot of money for this room for this reason. When we arrived the room was so tiny that we had to get housekeeping to remove the coffee table so we could get around the room. This was not a suite size but a normal hotel room in size. There was one window and it looked directly at a brick wall. We asked for another room but they could not accommodate us. Having 5 people in a room (i.e.Suite NOT!) we required more towels and toilet paper. We ran out twice and called for more and they were not delivered in 3-4 hours. We had to send someone to the front desk for our extra items so we could shower! Buyer be ware when you book this hotel. The promises you are made by this hotel is not what you get!

Location and quality very convenient for all purposes business or leisure. In the heart of downtown Montreal. Close to all businesses, shopping and restaurants. Friendly staff, comfort and clean rooms.

service of hotel time was perfect room was small but functional only issue hotel doesn't have parking lot for guesthotel located between two main street of Montreal with two different style of life business and shopping

"Convenient Locale in Montreal"

20/08/2018

Needed a place for one night in a central location in downtown Montreal. Between us we speak several languages but no French. But the staff here was wonderful and we were made to feel comfortable. The location is really good but walking a block or two to the north will find you in an uncomfortable environment for a just a short spell. Keep walking and you're fine or better yet, head a block in any other direction. Very central location and convenient to many things, including Metro. The hotel also gave us two recommendations for parking our car. Fee was reasonable and easily accessed. Room itself was modern, very clean and comfortable.

Best western on Drummond / st Catherine.great location. Room was clean acceptable. Parking was difficult. 30.00 per night in a shady laneway.front desk staff Sabina ? Was helpful and pleasant she got us under ground parking for 20.00 on the next street.( much better ). The whole city is under construction nightmare to drive.

"Good breakfast "

15/08/2018

Located beside the Sheraton, so a good location. The hotel is dated and functional. Rooms were clean with noisy AC. Elevators were slow and really inadequate. Rooms were clean but basic. The breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was particularly good with pleasant staff.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Great location but construction is underway just outside..very noisy in our room. Recommend for location. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Close to shopping, restaurants and bars.

"Awesome accommodations!"

14/08/2018

Right in the hub of downtown activity, this Best Western did not disappoint! The rooms were very clean with nicely updated decor and the beds very comfortable. The space was small but there was no need for something larger when Montreal has so much to explore! I would definitely book here again and was grateful to the friendly staff for their help with any of our questions. Having a Cora's right downstairs was a lovely, added bonus for breakfast each morning. Thank you for the great experience!!

"A little too Spartan for my taste"

11/08/2018

To start off, our room has the smallest bathroom of all of the hotels we ever stayed in (bar none). The room was decorated by a minimalist. The floor was uncarpeted. The room was clean and had all of the convenience items.

"Hotel ok .. service ok"

06/08/2018

This hotel is dated in the lobby and in the hallways . Especially the hallways . Our room was renovated and nice . It was clean . The bathroom was so tiny. The bed looked cosy but was just a mattress on a wooden platform and was not very comfortable . The check in was smooth but the staff was not at all friendly . I did however encounter friendlier staff during our stay. It was good value for the money that we paid ..we may or may not stay again . Location was good

"Always a pleasure to spend our minivacation here"

The hotel has good clean rooms with lots of space and comfortable beds; the staff is friendly and always ready to help. Location is amazing also! Close to Ste Catherine where everything happens. We'll be back !

Been at this property on more than one occasion and it is a great hotel. Downtown, close to everything. Shopping, restaurants, metro, Gare Central. Perfect place ! Clean hotel, with very friendly staff ! Really is my preferred place to stay in Montreal.

"Friendly and Welcoming Staff, Clean and comfortable rooms"

03/08/2018

The staff were all great and very friendly and welcoming. My French is very poor and the stay did not make me feel uncomfortable. The room was clean and well maintained with a comfortable bed. The internet was reliable and fast and I could get work done with no breaks in service or slow speeds. The hotel was within walking distance to lots of shopping and there was parking conveniently located right behind the hotel with an alley with easy access,

"Waited an hour for room at check-in"

2
28/07/2018

We have only seen the lobby. The rooms are guaranteed to be ready at 4pm; it is 4:53. We arrived in very early from a cruise and kindly took our luggage to hold. We were told then that they may have the room ready near 1, guaranteed for 4. At 4:15 we were apologized to and offered breakfast vouchers. There are at least three other families waiting tensely, too. I will update as I can.

"Great stay in Montreal"

5
28/07/2018

I stayed 5 nights at the Hotel Europa, 7/20 to 7/25 and I was very satisfied. The location is in the center of downtown with many restaurants, bars, shops, metro stations, etc within a few minutes walk. The room rate was reasonable and the room was very clean. As is the case with all hotels in a downtown area the rooms and bathrooms are on the smaller side but I'm sure you can upgrade to a larger room for a higher price. Since I was traveling solo and spent most of my time out of my room the room size was not a factor. The room was quiet and the WiFi was great. The 747 Airport bus stops less than a block away from the hotel which is very convenient if you're using the bus to and from the airport.

"Good Value Close to Old Montreal"

4
27/07/2018

We were here for one night. The hotel is a bit dated, but the price reflects that. Visitors should note that the price does not include parking or breakfast. Parking is not run by the hotel. Parking right behind the hotel in a street lot is $30 per night. We had breakfast in the attached Cora, which is one of our favorite breakfast places anyhow. We arrived early, and they stored our bags for us while we walked to Old Montreal. It was only about a 20 minute walk. There's lots to do nearby. When we got back to our hotel, we checked in. The hallway leading to our room smelled heavily of cigarettes. I was worried we had been given a smoking room, but the room was fine. It was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The AC unit was a little loud, but other than that, everything was great.

"Clean, comfortable, central"

26/07/2018

fantastic location, close to shops and restaurants, the via rail station and the grayline bus station where most tours leave from. great for a solo traveller, restaurant and breakfast place next door were great, the shop within the hotel was brilliant, owner happy to change all my coins before i left.

"Visiting Montreal"

24/07/2018

This was our 2nd time staying at this hotel. It is in a great location. Room is clean and modern. We've stayed in 3 different kind of rooms here: king bed in the business room non smoking (huge room), king bed in small room non smoking & queen bed in small room non smoking. All 3 rooms, clean & comfy bed. All updated. Air conditioning was perfect as well. Only comment about the bathrooms, need more counter space and hooks. Reception Sophia was very pleasant. There is no direct parking at this hotel, but the two locations for parking are very close, next to hotel is $30/day & the one on Stanley Avenue is $21/day both in and out privileges. I would definitely come back to this hotel when we visit again.

"Great location at a reasonable price"

4
24/07/2018

This is located just off the main St Catherine street. Close to restaurants and shopping. The room was very comfortable. Bathroom really tiny but very clean. All in all it is a great hotel when you get inside. We were a little worried when we saw it from the outside, specially with the construction on the opposite side. What went wrong, the Fire alarm in the middle of the night which just went on and on. Guests were running out and trying to figure out what was wrong. But no hotel staff came to check in or update the guests. apparently someone was smoking and set the alarm off. But it did disturn quite a bit of our night.

"Clean Comfortable Hotel right downtown"

4
21/07/2018

We stayed at this location for two days while we visited Montreal. The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for our needs. Having parking right behind the hotel was an added bonus for us.

"Girls weekend getaway"

17/07/2018

Stayed here for a Saturday/ Sunday night in July. Room was clean, beds were very comfy. Breakfast place in hotel was great. Unfortunately check in sucked, we got there at 4pm, room was not ready. We waited for an hour and finally left to go get food. Missed our dinner reservations because we were not able to get ready in time and had to eat somewhere else. There was never an apology or explanation why the room was still not ready at 5pm. I did book a 2 queen suite which was smaller than expected, but as I said before at least clean. Very central to everything. Check in staff not very friendly at all.

"Place to crash, would not stay again"

3
09/07/2018

This is a good place to stay if you prioritize lower cost and a walkable distance to many of downtown Montreal's attraction. This is a bad place to stay if you want a comfortable and convenient in-room experience. For context, I stayed in a 1-Queen Bedroom with one other person. Pros: close in proximity to downtown attractions, good food at both of the restaurants attached to the hotel, for $20/day you can have unlimited access to indoor parking across the street, the bed was comfortable, the shower was nice. Con 1: Limited space and WASTED space. Sure, space is limited in downtown. The hotel does no favors by inefficiently furnishing the hotel with the space it has. We were unable to set up properly in the bedroom and bathroom. Frustratingly, there was a sizable empty corner of the room that could have fit a dresser or table for extra table space. In the bathroom, there were at least 7 feet of empty wall space that could have been fitted to hang towels and bathroom bags. Instead, there was NOWHERE to hang the hand towel. There was 1 hook behind the door, 1 towel bar on the outside of the door, and 1 towel bar on the inside of the door (which is useless). The counter space was small, but the lack of hanging appliance is lazy on the hotel management's side. Con 2: Location. There are at least 3 exotic massage places surrounding the hotel. Not a big issue and everything seemed contained to those buildings, but some may not consider the location to be family friendly. Con 3: Bugs. There were ants and one 1-inch centipede in our room. Not a big issue, but we had to ensure all our food was sealed or in the refrigerator. Con 4: Ambience. With the room being small and a small feeling, it feels a little like being in a closet. But for the price it's worth it.

"Fantastic location and value."

05/07/2018

Place is in a great location where you can pretty much get to anywhere fast. Lots to do around the hotel as far as bars and places to eat. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are clean and large for a big city hotel. Staff was super friendly and helped with directions, maps and places to go. They don't have parking and you will have to pay for that, but it's something I have gotten used to when staying in a downtown location of a bigger city. The price is excellent and I can't recommend this place enough.

Good evening Mr Chris, Thank you for your review. Indeed the location of the hotel is perfect when it comes to walk around the downtown. Thank you for mentionning that our front desk was able to help you with anything you asked !

02/07/2018

Great hotel for the value! We booked on a last minute kinda thing and compared to other hotels it was very reasonably priced. The rooms were very clean. We got two rooms one with king bed which was very tiny and the other was one king bed and a sofa bed which was very large bright room. The one disadvantage is the AC is not central in a vent kinda system. so the AC makes fairy loud noise. The location of this hotel is really good though you are literally on block from st. Catherine st. There is parking right behind it for 30 bucks and at the end of the st for 21 dollars. There is Cora's the breakfast place and a bar right at the reception level. Overall very nice hotel for the value. As long as you don't have luxury expectations lol!

Stayed from Thurs to Saturday; room met expectations for an Expedia booking. Room amenities included free wifi, flat screen TV, coffee maker, safe, hairdryer and the usual hotel sized bathroom products. Room and bathroom were very spacious and had been updated recently. Room was very clean. The property is in a great location just steps from St Catherine Stree, has a small salon, a comfortable business centre/lounge and has access to a Cora's restaurant next door. Staff, particularly the housekeeping personnel, were very friendly. All staff we encountered were bilingual. There's no parking on site, however we parked at the “Autopark Stanley” (indoor garage) one street over. Rates from Thursday noon until Saturday 11:00am was $36.

Good afternoon Grace K, Thank you for your kind review. We are happy to read that your stay with us was what you expected. We are working really hard to make sure our staff and our rooms meet the Best Western expectation and we are happy to see that our guests loves it. Hopefully we will see you with us at your next visit in the city,

"Central Downtown Location"

24/06/2018

We stayed for 3 nights. After the first night we woke up to construction noise (at 7 am). There is a lot of construction outside of the hotel. I realize that the hotel had no control. I just did not have any idea that the construction could start as early as 7 am. The noise was extremely loud as our room faced the construction zone; it honestly felt like an earthquake. Fortunately, the front desk was able to move our room. We actually moved twice in three days. The second room contained 2 queen beds and the room was much larger and had an outside terrace. This room was far from other rooms, much older, in need of updating and isolated. We requested to move again to a newer renovated room with a king bed. I was spoiled with the look/feel of the first room. I apologize to the front desk for the requests to change rooms and grateful that they were able to accommodate our requests. The hotel location was excellent, close to public transportation, restaurants and shopping. The rooms with the king beds were nicely decorated and renovated with a great shower. I reviewed with average sleep quality due to the construction noise, however, prior to the noise I slept very soundly. There is a restaurant connected to the hotel which served a great breakfast. The front desk was helpful, courteous and accommodating. I would definitely consider staying here again. Please thank the front desk!

Location was awesome, near to everything. Also the level of cleanliness was at the highest standard with sheets, covers pillows being very refreshing and clean. Staff was very professional and friendly. They handled the arrival very smoothly. Also the departure moment was impressive as I had to stay all day long in Montreal, keeping the check-out timing in mind at 11:00AA, so the staff enabled me to leave the baggage and the jacket in the safe room, similar to airports, very professional indeed. The bathroom was so small and narrow that I have never ever seen it before. Probably it was just my room, but not impressed at all. Keep in mind if any overweight fellow (let alone obese person) gets in the bathroom, takes a shower like in a shoebox, and the door shuts after you, it does not stay wide open for whatever reason. This should change/improve immediately bring the contractors in and increase the size of the bathroom(s), please Hotel Europa; you could do better!

This hotel is older and the rooms show it. Lack of usb outlets, loud AC units, older bathrooms. It's functional but not distinct in any way. Well maybe the shower which is pretty decent. Window in 536 is small.

"Disappointing Stay "

1
07/06/2018

We stayed as a family of 9 with young kids and an elderly from May 30- Jun 1 and had 4 rooms. That was part of our tour of E Canada. Reception when we checked in was cold, unfriendly and aloof throughout our stay when we interacted with with a few of them , and showed clear preference to deal with other guests closer to their background and race. We ran into a problem with my Amex due to Id theft issue I think occured when I was booking hotels online for this particular tour.. the reception was rude when they called to asked for settlement and when presenting facts and figures on the final settlement they were confused and appeared messed up. Male staff at front desk after taking my other credit card as an alternative, just returned it without a word nor eye contact! That's really ultra rude for my culture and I would think that's the same for any culture! We are not asking for sky high services, just the very basics to be polite and to treat everyone the same regardless of race and background. When we booked this hotel online and payed in advance, there was no information whatsoever on the hotel being near to construction. When we got there, there was one big one just across the road, we had problems getting off the bus, stopping in a position to unload our bags. Reception said nothing and was not apologetic at all and offered nothing at all whatsoever. Noise is obviously a prob! We should have been informed by the hotel way in advance so we can decide if we go ahead with booking. I had an important fax from my office back home. When my staff called the Hotel's reception after faxing through to make sure , she was told that they were busy and will attend to it later, which they didn't. I had to check with the reception after waiting only to be told there was no fax. Female staff who attended to me had a disinterested outlook on it and finally located the fax stashed among other documents and obviously unprocessed. Not sure if BW Plus is a business or a leisure hotel but if it is targeting business travellers, then this definitely isn't the way to handle things like fax documents. I was really shocked! There were some good things though to save some grace: 1. Rooms are of ok size, well appointed and clean 2. Location is good being a short walk to St Catherine. 3. Breakfast service offered at an external hotel was nice and had pleasant services which really put the entire front desk at the hotel to shame. Surely they must have had training on customer service and how to treat all equally regardless of race and background.

Michael P, Responsable de la réception at Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review
Dear Mr. Pe, I would like to thank you for staying with us. We try to give our guests the best experience as possible, even with the construction in the city during the summer. Thank you for your patience regarding our answer. As you can understand, we do take this negative feedback very seriously and we are aware that a situation like this needs to be studied deeply. After reviewing the security camera, we can see that you arrived at the hotel with your family, dropping the laugage near the business center. Once you were done with that, you came at the front desk to check-in these 4 rooms. 5 minutes passed from the moment you came at the front desk to the moment you leaved it. Unfortunately, our cameras does not record the sound, I am not aware of what has been said by my front desk agent at that time but I am truly chocked to read that one of my best employee ( who never has bad review in the past) act with racism towards our guest. However, if there is something she said that offended you, I would really love to hear from you. Therefore, we could give our team a coaching session. Like mentionned a little bit further up, we do have construction in Montreal. Sadly, we do have to deal with the noise of it in front of the hotel. Therefore, whenever our guest has problem with that, we try to accomodate them as much as possible. Finally, I would really love to enter in touch with you regarding any other problems that you might had. If you would like, don't hesitate to call us directly at the hotel. Again, thank you for your review and I hope that you enjoyed Montreal and his great weather!

"Good value, well situated"

26/05/2018

This hotel offers excellent value for the money. It is well situated for central downtown touring and also very close to St Catherine street shopping. We even walked to & from Old Montreal for the exercise. The rooms are modest in size incl the bathroom and the window had no view for that price. There could be a better sized closet but again it's a balance of price and location. The pluses are that there is an excellent restaurant/bar on the premises open for lunch/dinner and breakfast is easily accessed next door (still staying inside) at Cora's restaurant. That was very nice to see. If the hotel hasn't listed the latter as an asset, they should. It's an attractive feature for downtown hotels. Staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. An attractively priced and well maintained inner city hotel.

"Nice Hotel for the price"

16/05/2018

We needed a hotel close to the university as my daughter was going for an interview. This hotel was a perfect location for that, just down the street. It's also one of the better priced hotels. The hotel is quite different than most we have stayed in. It does have small hallways and yes the bathroom is tiny but it is very clean. The room looks like it has been recently renovated. The staff were very helpful and friendly from explaining the parking situation to fixing the plugged sink quickly. Speaking of the parking, as someone mentioned the hotel doesn't have its own parking lot but has made arrangements with the parking lot in the back. It is a bit sketchy back there and we were somewhat concerned about leaving our car but really there was no worries. The only negative I would have to say and this is obviously not the hotel's fault is that there is construction directly across the street. Our room faced the street and every morning at 7 am the noise started. If we were staying any longer than the 2 nights we did I would have requested a room on the other side of the building. It looks like this construction site is going to be there a while so I'd suggest requesting a room on the other side for the future. All in all thought, this worked out well for us especially the price

"Pay a bit extra and stay elsewhere"

24/04/2018

My husband and I travel to Montreal each year for a few nights. We always try to stay at different places to compare. This year we chose to stay at the Best Western Plus - Hotel Europa. When we made the booking, it did indicate that the rooms were small. We just weren't prepared for how small. The bathroom was so tiny that our knees touched the shower door when we sat on the toilet. The room had a couple of feet on each side of the bed and a small chair for sitting. While the rooms might be newly renovated, the rest of the hotel is desperately in need of an update. The hallways are tiny and didn't smell the greatest...might be the carpet that appears to be 15-20 years old. We were first placed in a room on the 6th floor (the top floor of the hotel). It wasn't until we returned for the night that we noticed the loud vibrating and rattling noise in our room (likely inside the ceiling). If you choose to stay at this hotel, request a room on another floor. When we notified the front desk staff, the did move us to another room. Given that you can stay in a much nice hotel in Montreal for only about $20 more per night, I will choose to pay extra and have spacious rooms, amenities such as a pool and hot tub and much better facilities. I would return to this hotel if they lowered the price to about $85/night plus tax. The rooms were clean...can't complain about that.

Good afternoon _Trixxy7_, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about your stay at the Best Western Plus Europa. I deeply apologize about any inconvenience you have experienced in our hotel. Regarding the size of the room, the size depends of the room type. Hope you will stay again with us, I would be happy to offer you a free upgrade (based on the availability). Kind regards,

You can't beat the location of this hotel. Less than one block to Rue St. Catherine and really close to the metro too. It's a basic hotel - rooms are fine but nothing special. They are renovating the retail space in the lobby and adding a spabra. There's a nail salon and breakfast restaurant on the first floor too. The restaurant was undergoing renovatoins while we were there so we didn't get to eat there. Staff is super friendly. If you are looking to stay in the heart of downtown Montreal without breaking the bank this hotel is perfect.

"Super convenient location, professional people, and affordable price"

The location was super convenient in the fashionable area, middle of downtown Montreal. There were tons of fine restaurants, bars, fast-foods, brand shops surrounding the hotel. The reception was friendly and professional, and I was offered a snack pail, an extra point, and an upgraded room at checking in. The room was clean and good size with a kind bed, and the bed was comfortable. When I called the front desk asking a late check-out, she was nice, and gave me a 2-hour extension for free of charge. It made my stay more enjoyable. The one thing I wish for the room is a better window. There was only one small window at the corner and the bottom half of the window was occupied with a build-in air conditioner. The top half was an opening covered by a sheer curtain. The curtain flapped as the air conditioner ran, which was annoying. The view of the crowded city was not enjoyable, either. But the price was affordable and it was a pleasant stay overall. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and definitely come back.

The room was lovely. Only stayed one night (concert was cancelled and couldn't get a refund on the room). -Parking lot behind the hotel was a tad bit sketchy. -Bar/restaurant service was mediocre. It was not busy and the service was slow (if you could hail down a waitress) -No hot water in the shower on Saturday am (one of the few expectations I have of a hotel room: a hot shower). Location wise is a plus: walkable to the Bell Centre and St. Catherine's street.

"Terrible Customer Services - Avoid This Hotel (And Probably Best Western Too) !"

1
19/03/2018

Hotel booked in August 2017 through the BW Rewards Scheme which advertises 'Guaranteed Best Rates' - they are NOT ! Stayed here at the start and end of my holidays in December & January. First stay was reasonable but nothing special. Addies restaurant was advertising draught beer on special offer but we were told the pumps had broken so it wasn't available and so we were badly ripped off buying two glasses of wine. Rooms are okay but nothing special for a Best Western Plus. Stayed 4 nights and left to explore Canada. The evening before we were due to return in January I had an email from the Hotel saying my credit card had expired and my reservation would not be held unless I gave them a new card by 4pm. The previous booking made at the same time with the same card had not caused any problems and it was not mentioned at either check in or check out. It was too late for me to amend the booking and I had no intention of giving credit card details via a non-secure email so I replied to the Hotel saying I had made a new booking and to continue cancelling my booking. Booking in August 3 nights $642.51 Booking in January, same 3 nights & same room $350.21 Can someone explain how that fits in to the best rate guarantee ? Checked in to the Hotel and saw the same staff as on our previous stay who said they had not cancelled the booking. This resulted in two holds going on the credit card and I insisted that I was staying at the cheaper rate. This lower rate was eventually honoured. Addies was still advertising draught beer on special but, guess what, the pumps were still broken 4 weeks later so it wasn't available. Returned to UK and made complaint. BW Customer Services have done nothing. Complained again to be told that BW Montreal have tried to ring me twice (incorrect) and to contact the Hotel directly if I'm not satisfied. Moral of this story - book a room and then check a couple of days before you arrive because it might be half the price ! Or simply, like me, find another Hotel chain who have a customer services dept that actually does something.

Picked this hotel because being very close to Bell Center (only few minutes away by walk). There are restaurants nearby. Hotel does not have their own parking, I would suggest use the underground secured parking. Clean rooms and very helpful staff. Quick online checking procedure, when approached to the reception got the room keys under 2 minutes during early evening checkin rush.

Great location, close to public transport, stores, and several restaurants. Parking was easy nearby. Staff was quite friendly. However, no breakfast and the hotel would definitely welcome some renovations. In the end, it was ok but there are other options in downtown Montreal, even within the Best Western group, where I'd rather stay in the future.

"Great stay on NYE!"

26/02/2018

I booked a "small queen room" and was pleasantly surprised at how not very small it was. It was a decent sized room for my partner and I, who needed a place to stay NYE. The room was clean (although the garbage from the previous guests hadn't been changed). Room temperature was easily changeable. The best part about this hotel for me was the location! As a Montrealer, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be in the heart of the city! The metro (Peel on the green line) is a short walk away (less then 5 mins). Sainte Catherine street is literally seconds away. Would recommend staying here if you're on a budget and want to maximize your time in the city. Staff extremely friendly!!!

This was a major disappointment . Last time we were here it was wonderful and this time the shower was almost bigger than the room! We arrived to have all three staff speaking French to each other about our reservation. No English. When I asked if there was a problem they said no. They said the cc on file had declined which is why we gave them the new one explaining the other had been lost and they sent us a replacement. We went to the tiny room our luggage barely fit in and then went back and asked for a larger room. They said they were full. We are BW diamond members and should have been upgraded but were not. Hotel was full. We didn't check in until 7pm even though I had secured with my cc 6 weeks prior. The mgr rambled and rambled and when I shushed him he was furious and said that I was so offensive . 10 seconds later when the girl there spoke he put his hand in front of her face to quiet her. I said that was way more rude than me putting my finger to my lips to say shhhhh. Then he handed me his card and left. Then the girl piped up that my cc had been originally declined and they didn't even have to honour my reservation. I was dumbfounded. We had been told parking was 25$ but it was $30. We were given no info on breakfast, check out times, and I had to carry 4 suitcases and 3 bags to our room with no offer of help. (My husband had gone to get the car). Needless to say, worst BW stay ever.

"Excellent location near Bell Centre"

30/01/2018

Stayed here for a weekend to see a Montreal Canadiens game. 5 minute walk to Bell Centre. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby within walking distance. Hotel staff were pleasant and professional. Room was very small but updated and clean and had everything we needed and the rate was good for the location. Bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. The only negative issues we experience was snow clearing in the parking lot outside our window (and we were up on the 4th floor) at 6:30 am sounded like thunder and someone knocking on our door at 3:30 am looking for someone in another room.

This hotel was super affordable and the other reviews seemed decent so we decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed! The staff was pleasant and helpful, the room was modern and clean, the bed was comfy, and noise was at a minimum so we got a few good nights sleeps! Even better, the attached restaurant Chez Cora is delicious! This hotel is centrally located and we loved the neighborhood! Just 1 block away from great shopping and restaurants, and a very pleasant 15 minute or so walk to Old Montréal. We would definitely stay here again!

Recently I had to be in Montreal due to a family illness. I spent 5 nights at the Best Western Hotel on Drummond Street. And needless to say I was so very pleased with the great treatment I received. The staff and management were so friendly and helpful!. As for the room it was very comfortable, compact but so cosy! The mattress was perfect and I had a great sleep! All the amenities were there. The breakfast restaurant was great, a Chez Cora franchise.Centrally located downtown, this hotel is highly recommended by me.

It's just a place to crash and we experienced several problems. 1. There was no breakfast included in the rates 2. There was no parking included in the rate (additional $30/night) 3. Fire evacuation at night and no discount for inconvenience 4. No thermostat in the room -- it was pretty cold. 5. Cleaning staff very loud late at night (9pm)... why even clean at that time?

I got way more than what I asked for what I paid. Room was really clean including the bed and the shower (we got a lot of towels, shampoos and body soap). We had access to a microwave and a tea/coffee machine in our room. Customer service is quick and perfect so if you need anything go ahead and ask them. I am in a wheelchair and the adapted room is not completely accessible. Easy design issues could be done to make the room more accessible. Wheelchairs can not access climate controls or refrigerator. Floor level difference going into the bathroom makes it difficult to enter and leave in a wheelchair., There is no hair dryer in the bathroom. Otherwise, room was clean and bed comfortable. 20/11/2017

Not that I travel a lot but when I have been to Montreal the past 5-6 yrs I have stayed here . On Nov 3 myself and a friend overnight there on our way south .... no problems and had a room booked through our travel agent on the return .... when we checked out we told them that we would be back on Nov 11. Upon arrival back in the country we got a cab to the hotel to check in before the hockey game .... only to find out that our reservation had been cancelled !! The excuse that was given was that the expiry date on file was not correct.... FUNNY HOW A WEEK BEFORE IT WAS OK!!! Upon asking to see manager .... a guy hiding behind the desk told us he cancelled .... he informed us he tried to call the agency( which normally closed on weekends) and cancelled because it was a NHL game night... all they did was offer a room at twice the price .... if it wasn't so close to the time for the game I would have walked away... then he threatened that if we put any comments on any kind of social media he would see us in court !!! I can't remember his name I hope the same thing happens to him someday!!!! He really knew how to make someone feel like a lowlife... The next morning while checking out the clerk helping us .... we asked her and she looked at the history of prior reservation and this was the only one with the different dates ..... all other transactions were from same card and no problems !!! This was my last stay at this hotel !!

My friends and I were in Montreal to do some sightseeing and take in a Hockey game. The location was excellent with just a 2 block walk to the Bell Centre. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and clean. The only negative would be the parking. I understand that parking downtown is usually at a premium but the number of homeless people and the parking attendants left us feeling a little wary. The location still was excellent with Cora's restaurant on site and plenty of restaurants and Sports Bars close by.

Great spot close to everything in downtown! No parking but you can find one within 2 blocks at 20$ aprox. This time the Drummond street was close for construction and cranes were right in front of the hotel a bit noisy but nothing crazy. Front desk very friendly! And the room really small but fully renovated and « no carpet » which it was great. And a Cora restaurant just right there at the lobby!! Yes 100% recommended!

This is a nice, reasonably priced hotel in the very center of the downtown area of Montreal. I was surprised to find something at this price in this location. It was also walkable to the old port section of town.

This is a convenient location to downtown, the hop on/hop off, and Notre Dame Basicilica. Although not much from the outside, the interior was clean and fresh with updated furnishings. Our room was large, quiet, and vrey clean. All staff were friendly and helpful. All spoke English well.

"Good Stay/Location"

This Hotel is right in the middle of downtown Montreal and is within walking distance to all amenities. We drove to Montreal and the parking was reasonable with "in-and-out" privileges, although we didn't need to use the car, it was nice to know the option existed. We chose to eat outside the hotel and found many choices for breakfast within a short distance (5 min. walk) from the hotel. If fact, we there to visit our son at McGill University and we were able to walk to his residence, which was a great bonus. We actually "Ubered" to Old Montreal for dinner and walked back to the hotel. It was about 30 or 40 minutes but it was easy and fun. The rooms were spacious and very clean - NO Carpeting !! love that - the floors were hardwood laminate.

"Wonderfully maintained and thoughtfully renovated property"

28/10/2017

Others have commented on the excellent location, and there's little that one can add to what others have already written. I must admit, however, that I was a little concerned that my room might be a little more low end than I would be comfortable with given the price. I had no reason to be concerned! The owners have done a wonderful job of renovating the hotel and keeping it in excellent shape. The hardwood floor, new furniture, wall art, etc., in my room made for a very comfortable experience. The bathroom is small but ultramodern and well appointed. Unlike some of the more expensive hotels closer to the conference centre, my room had no less than 3 free outlets in the immediate vicinity of the desk. Consider other options if you expect to entertain in your room or hold business meetings there. But if you're simply looking for a well located, wonderfully maintained and thoughtfully renovated property that's also a great value, then look no further.

"Find a nicer hotel"

23/10/2017

The bathroom was so small, that when you sat on the toilet your knees were in the shower. What a joke, the woman at the check in counter said it's size of hotels in Europe. Not true, I've stayed at hotels in Europe and never this small.

The best hotel experience I've had in a long time. Hotel is within walking distance of Central Station and everything I wanted to experience. Room was very clean and spacious. I was given a bigger room than I paid for and allowed to check in early.

"Anniversary Getaway"

4
22/10/2017

We booked this hotel for a Anniversary Getaway. The location was absolutely perfect. We could walk to Bell Centre for hockey game, downtown for shopping, dining and people watching. The hotel location was easy to get off and on the highway going into Montreal. Coras downstairs served amazing breakfasts at reasonable prices. Room was extremely clean with very comfortable bedding, bath was good sized with a walkin shower but the room itself was very, very small. My husband banged and cut his knee on furniture trying to get to the bathroom. Other than the size we were very satisfied with the hotel Location is definitely the highpoint.

"Great Location and Value"

21/10/2017

We stayed here following the end of a New England/Canada cruise. The location was GREAT - downtown near everything. We got to the hotel early morning after disembarking the ship and the hotel staff was very courteous and gladly checked our luggage for the day. They gave us tips about things to do and we enjoyed a full day touring. The rooms are very small, but very updated and clean. Bathrooms are tiny, but again updated. The only complaint are the doors to the hallways are loud and old (you can hear everything in the hallways). But again, great value and the room was nice. Bed was very comfortable.

"Nice Hotel"

4
20/10/2017

Hotel is centrally located in downtown and a short walk to pick-up hop-on hop-off. Room was spacious and comfortable and quite clean. The area around the hotel is a little seedy (i.e. massage parlor nearby), but it looks like it is being renovated.

"Close to Bell Centre"

4
16/10/2017

The hotel was very close to the Bell Centre and had everything you need. Only thing we didn't like was our room was small and only had a shower (no tub), but the shower was new and very nice. Did include coffee machine and bar fridge.

"Great location"

dated, but clean, right in the heart of financial and shopping district Would stay here again on my own, very small rooms, and bathroom tiny. Restaurant at hotel is a Cora's serving breakfast most of the day. Fitness Center is small, need some loose weights

"Good Value and Location"

15/10/2017

This hotel was typical of Best Western Hotels that I've stayed in over the years. The entrance is a half storey above the reception area. There is however an elevator and often a doorman. There are 5 storeys with hotel rooms. My room had been modernized. The bathroom was extremely compact but functional -- not much counter space or ledge space in the tub. In the morning, I had to run the water for quite a while to get it hot enough for a shower. The closet contained an ironing board and iron and about 3 feet of hanging space as well as a safe. The hangers could not be removed from the closet so I could not hang my dripping wet raincoat in the bathtub as I would have liked. The windows do not open. The heating/air conditioning unit was a bit on the noisy side but that did mask the street noise. There is a fire station in the same block and I could hear the sirens. There is a Cora's Breakfast and Lunch at the lobby level and Addie's Restaurant and Bar on the mezzanine. These appeared to be operated independently of the hotel. There is also a reasonable gift shop. The room is not carpeted. The bed was comfortable. The internet worked consistently well. My room was missing it's full length mirror. There was a clock radio alarm which had not been set to the correct time when I arrived in my room. It was never corrected by the housekeeping staff. It was not at all obvious how to set the time or use the radio. There was a good work desk with a proper chair and decent lighting.

"Good location.....but not a Plus."

15/10/2017

This place is located well. St. Catherine Blvd. is one block away. The visitor's center is a quick three blocks. City tours generate from there. Fine restaurants are within walking distance (Reuben's for smoked meat sandwiches) The Underground is easily accessed, and McGill University and museums are blocks away. Now for the hotel. Our room, 507, was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The housekeeping staff did clean late in the afternoons sometimes, but we had a 'do not disturb' sign on the door in the morning until 11. I am turned off by plastic cups and paper cups for the in room coffee machines. Why can't Best Westen provide glass instead of eco unfriendly waste? There is a restaurant located on site, so there is not a complimentary breakfast. There is a bar located on site, but it is not affiliated with BW. We asked to borrow two wine glasses, but that was not 'allowed'. There is a bell man who sometimes is at the front door, but he is only allowed to take your luggage from the curb down three steps or elevator to the lobby, he can't take your things to the room. (!?) Parking is on the next block in a garage. It cost us $71 for four nights, with no in and out privileges. (Luckily we didn't need a car in the city) Huge construction site across the street was very noisy during the week, make sure you request a quiet room away from Drummond Street. We paid a premium price for this room, but I don't see why it should be called a Plus. Weigh your options before booking this hotel.

"Extraordinary service"

5
12/10/2017

I am in Montreal and, for several unavoidable reasons, it has been a difficult time for me. Much pressure was relieved due to help from THREE extraordinary service workers: 1. The front desk clerk at Best Western Plus, 1240 Drummond St. His name is Jessie. I arrived there after a long train trip from TO, had about an hour to get to an important appointment, only to find I didn't have a room because the online booking service booked it for the incorrect week. And no rooms were available in other nearby hotels he called. I was in a pre meltdown state of mind. Jesse literally organized me - GENTLY calmed me down, found me a room when a room couldn't be found in Mtrl, helped me to focus on getting to my apptmt, gathered my suitcase, bags etc, and led me outside where he found person #2 to get me back on track. 11/10/2017

This hotel is well located downtown Mtl. But It was really noisy in my first room on the second floor facing the street. There is major construction in front (Which I suspect will go on for a while), and noisy at night too... They gladly changed my room for one facing the interior court. Rooms are small. But bed are comfortable. A little expensive for what you get.

I have stayed many times at this hotel in Montreal. The location is fabulous, the rooms are small but very clean. Do wish they would not have paper cups for coffee. Problem with no one answering incoming phone calls at reception should be easy to fix. This never happened on previous stays.

"A Good City Centre Choice"

4
08/10/2017

We really enjoyed everything about this hotel except the terrible shower, pathetic pressure and wandering between scalding hot and frozen cold. Our room was a good size for a city centre, beds were extremely comfortable and staff were great. The location was extremely covenient for Downtown. However, the highlight was the attached breakfast restaurant which provided quite simply the most comprehensive and imaginative breakfast choice. Highly recommended on only that pesky shower stops a five star review.

"Weekend Stay ~ September 2017"

4
08/10/2017

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown – Hotel Europa from the 15th – 18th September 2017, with my partner. We had travelled up from Toronto for a weekend break on the train and arrived at Grand Central Station approximately at 4.30-5pm after a five-hour train journey. It only a 10-15-minute walk from Grand Central to this hotel on Rue Drummond and it's very easy to find. Walked into the hotel to reception to be met by a very helpful lady, who booked us into the hotel with the minimum of fuss and we went up to our room fifth floor. First impressions of the room was that it was small (and at the back of the hotel, overlooking a car park so the view wasn't great ), but I have to say it was perfect for what we wanted, it was well equipped, with a large flat screen TV, (with a reasonable selection of TV programmes in English and French, both Canadian and US) fridge, tea/coffee machine, (tea & coffee, cups, but curiously no spoons or milk), The bathroom was good, with a very good walk in shower with lots of fresh white towels (which were changed daily), shampoos etc., iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. The room also had air conditioning, and although the fan was a bit noisy it was actually very good. The room did have Wi-Fi but never used it so can't comment. The window was very small and the view wasn't great, but on the upside the hotel is right in the middle of downtown Montreal. So, we had a shower and went out. The following day wasn't sure what we were doing for breakfast, but I had a word with the receptionist and she said that breakfast available within the hotel building itself (it's just off the main reception area) although the company (Chez Cora) wasn't anything to do with the hotel itself. So, we had breakfast at Chez Cora and it was lovely, and very popular, most days there was queue at the desk. (and one thing to note they have an early bird menu so It's cheaper before 8am) So, all in all a very nice weekend in Montreal, the hotel is centrally located with lots of bars and restaurants in and around the area, Chinatown is 30-40 minute's walk away, and there lots to see and do there. The room was on the small side but enough for a weekend stay, the one downside on the Sunday/Monday morning the bin men (Garbage collectors) decided to empty the bins a 4am in the morning, and they were very noisy! (but far as I can see that was the only downside). Things to see and do, the hop on hop off bus ride located just off Dorchester Square (London buses included) was good if you want to see a lot in a short time, Chinatown was great (had a very good Chinese meal at La Maison VIP on Rue Clark) and there's a very nice Irish bar Le Vieux Dublin Pub and Restaurant at Rue Cathcart. I would recommend this hotel.

"Good and clean"

3
05/10/2017

The BW was good and clean but the room we got was extremely small. Maybe good for one person but it was not acceptable for a couple. We would probably try another place next year. There are many other option around the Bell Center. It was nice having a Cora (breakfast restaurant) in the lobby. The bathroom we had did not have a active fan and with the small room this became a problem.

"Nice staff but dark and dated premises"

2
03/10/2017

The hotel was not up to the usual standard I expect from a Best Western. The lobby and halls are dark and dated and the rooms are not very attractive. The bed was adequately comfortable. No in hotel breakfast included.

Pleasant affordable, great location in downtown Montreal. Walking distance to many pubs, restaurants and the Metro. Chez Cora fantastic breakfast plce attached to the hotel, superb quality restaurants like Hurley's, Dundee's and Leentrecote St. jean and others minutes from the hotel. Great Montreal Museum of Art a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Orange and Green Metro lines right nearby for a good trip to the Old City.

28/09/2017

The hotel was very well located, easy access to the subway station Peel. Nice lobby, great room, doesn't have complimentary breakfast but there is a nice breakfast place attached to it, as well as a restaurant. Room was nice and clean. Air conditioning was noisy, had to turn off during the night to be able to sleep. But overall a good experience!

"Great find in a good location"

4
24/09/2017

I stayed here for two nights while travelling for business. My colleague and I were looking for lodgings on short notice and found this property on the BW web site advertising rooms for a reasonable rate. The property is older but has been upgraded in the recent past. The elevators are small as are the hallways, but the rooms are a good size with plenty of room. The staff are friendly though I had to wait a while as they only had a couple of people to man the front desk and I came in during a rush. However all other interactions were quick and prompt, and with a smile. The property includes a nice pub area as well as quick access to a nice bistro for a good breakfast (though service was a bit slow, but that is the bistro, not the hotel). Location is great--just a few blocks from everything you might want to have access to. The only complaint might be the fact I could hear the water running in the next room when the occupant took a shower, but I just closed my bathroom door and that muted the noise--certainly not enough to wake me up. For the rate I think this was a good value for a hotel in the heart of the city.

"Modern and well located"

24/09/2017

When you arrive, park at the front of hotel; valet parking the only realistic option - 25 dollars per day. Very efficient service when you request your car; we phoned from our room and by the time we got to reception, the car was waiting for us. Room very spacious and clean - would have liked bathroom floor cleaned each day. Very quiet room (back of the hotel, overlooking small park). 10 minutes walk from the heart of entertainment and 15 min walk to Montreal Vieux - nicely redeveloped old port on the St Lawrence river. Lots of bars and restaurants - good street entertainers.

Not as good as it appears on line. Getting run down. Construction across the street starts at 7:00. They aren't repairing anything, they just shut it down. There was a broken board on our terrace (they are only on the suits) instead of fixing it they screwed the door shut.

"Small Rooms"

2
23/09/2017

Stayed at Best Western/Europe in Montreal. I had a single double bed that took up most of the room. As small as the room was, the bathroom was even smaller with hardly any counter space to place your things. I told the hotel receptionist that I had to find a convenience store to buy water because I had a kidney stone disease and asked her if there was any place close to buy water. She shrugged her shoulder and said she didn't know and asked me if I would swap my points instead for a couple of 500ml little bottles of water, so I figured there must not be anyplace close to get any and took her offer. When I was through I turned around and there was a conveniece store right in the lobby behind me! When I asked her why she deceived me, she told me it wasn't her job to inform me of where there are convenience stores - WOW! I wanted to tell her it surely isn't her job to deceive either!

Good desk people and fast check in. Busy hotel mostly used by travellers rather than business people, Top location for shopping on St Catherine's Street (less than 100m). Disappointed did not give a free breakfast as cost for two days was well over CA$400 (booked in advance weeks before). Downside of hotel is noise factor late at night. We were woken at 1am by a loud and drunk guest in the next room. There is pub next door which obviously attracts a lot of guests. Easy walk to train station which has good food options on your way out. Would probably not return if in Montreal - I go to a hotel for a good sleep and didn't get it

Location does all, room was clean. Internet services worked fine; still some additional effort would be required from the maids for daily cleaning. No in-room services, The food at the restaurant ok but more friendly staff would create a better atmosphere. Air conditioning doesn't work in the room. Bathroom is bit too small and unpractical, a make-up mirror would be helpful.

"Great hotel; Lousy credit card authorization policy"

4
13/09/2017

I would recommend this hotel to anyone but do NOT make reservations for others under your name with your credit card. They take the full amount of the reservation against the credit card they have, even BEFORE you arrive. I have told them more than once this is NOT an acceptable practice but they claim it is their hotel policy.

13/09/2017

This Best Western Plus is in a great location in downtown Montreal. Just blocks from St. Catherine which is the main shopping area. Lots of students as well as business people walking on the sidewalks. The visitor terminals are close by as well. There are two restaurants on the premises as well. It is a very clean hotel with outstanding staff. They will allow you to leave your luggage if necessary. There is a fire department a few doors down but not much of a problem.

"Good location but noisy"

12/09/2017

Location is conveniently located close to St. Catherines (a street for shopping, dinning and more). We did not have a car so no need to use the parking at hotel, which is $25. There's a SAQ express (liquor store) that opens till 10pm near by (2 mins walk) The hotel room is spacious, we had 2 queen bed and we are happy with the size. Washroom has been updated with quartz vanity. House keeping was mediocre. When I returned to my room, 2 pillows were on my luggage.

Would highly recommend this motel. The location was superb. So close to saint Catherine's st and the Bell centre. I would definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend it to a friend. The only negative feed back I would give would be the noice, but that is not the hotels fault. There was some construction going on across the street. Very satisfied and we got an awesome deal on the hotel for its location.

first time in Montreal. great location and superb experience. we have already planned a return to this hotel and the beautiful city. the room we stayed in was small however was totally great for our stay. and the hotel was quiet at night. 06/09/2017

It's 3 stars and accordingly so. Nice staff, Smallish room , small gym (with broken equipment), no pool. If you're out and about, it's fine. Great location, 2 block away from Bell centre. Cora's in the lobby , and a pub/sports lounge in the other side make it easy to stay at. Unfortunately the iron in the room stained my new shirt, which left a damper. (Didn't even get a free meal at Cora's. We were on our way out so no time to even ask for dry cleaning). Would stay again if with the guys in for an event or concert. For a romantic couple, bland . Good location tho.

Tghis was my second stay here, both times to attend a concert at the Bell Centre. Small room was clean and had a comfy bed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a 3 day getaway and roamed the town with my wife. Did a fair bit of shopping and had some awesome dinners around town. Hotel just minutes away from all the shops and restaurants. We can't wait to do it again very soon. Old Montreal is quite spectacular place to visit , it too is very close.

"Central location. Clean."

28/08/2017

We got off a cruise ship and stayed two nights. The location is very central - a one minute walk to St. Catherines Street and all the shopping. Tickets for the red hop-on / hop-off buses can purchased two blocks away at the main tour stop. Lots of decent pubs and eateries within 15 minutes walk. Our room was smallish, but well appointed. No fridge or safe, but did have iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Free wi-fi. Breakfast restaurant (Cora's) off lobby and lunch/dinner place upstairs. Don't expect to check in early. Busy place but then we happened to stay during Pride weekend and a couple of big concerts. Pretty quiet at night.

This hotel is nothing fancy, but if you're just looking for a place to lay your head, it's great. Our room was basic, but very clean, the bed was SUPER comfy and staff were friendly. The location was fantastic and not far from the subway. Also, it's just a $40 flat rate cab ride to the airport and no need to pre-book a cab as there are always a couple waiting outside the hotel, day ad night,

"An average hotel"

23/08/2017

OK price for value, but the corridors leading to rooms are gloomy and needs a face lift. We need automobile parking accommodation as part of the package. I liked the fact that a housekeeping staff showed interest when I could not find my room.

Well rested for my work and they were very helpful when I had troubles with language or geographical issues. The bed was also very comfortable and the room itself was very clean. The bathroom was small, but comfortable and the staff was amazing

It was our 50th weeding anniversary.. We were married in Montreal 50 Years ago. This was a memorable event in our life to re-visit Montreal the city where we were married.. Montreal is a very vibrant friendly city.

"Not a Plus Level Hotel"

No breakfast included and smells like sewage. Needs major renovations in lobby and rooms. Beds are not comfortable. Location is the only good thing about this hotel so you can enjoy Montreal's great food.

"Close to Centre Bell"

14/08/2017

I picked this hotel due to its proximity to the concert venue and because I usually like Best Western properties. I was not disappointed at all. Rooms were renovated recently and I felt it was spacious enough. The hotel has a restaurant so no complimentary breakfast. I would have liked coffee in the lobby but there was a single cup machine in the room and a refrigerator. The parking situation in Montreal is tough so there was no hotel or free parking. We used a lot around the block which was about $17.00 C per day. We never used the car because we had other transportation to get around. There aren't any tourist brochures in the lobby so ask for them if you need to. Old Montreal/Port is within walking distance as well as other downtown attractions. I would stay here again.

"Tiny tiny tiny"

14/08/2017

If you are 5 feet and under , this hotel is fine for you. cannot sit on the potty without having my legs in the shower. Ridiculous. Hotels do this to maximise space but throw out comfort! zero counter space in the washroom to put anything. location is ideal if you want to be in heart of the city. everything , shops , Bell Center, restaurants are very close by (a block or two). They do not have valet parking. you park your own car and have to walk one block back to the hotel in a ''behind the scenery'' alley (wouldn't walk there at night - saw many empty booze bottles). That is their current set up for parking which is not included in the price of the room. Booking .com does not give you this information.

"Great Location with a comfortable room"

4
14/08/2017

Perfect location for attending a concert at the Bell Centre or shopping Rue St. Catherine. Parking in front of hotel to unload or check-in is a little awkward as there is no valet or doorman and the road itself is cramped but once inside check in by Eileen was easy, friendly and helpful. We found the parking garage easily and since most of Montreal is one way streets it is usually a simple process. Our room was ready early and was cean, updated and a good size especially for a downtown hotel. It was nice it had a fridge to keep snacks and drinks cool. One note is that the elevators are very small and stairs hard to find but this is a minor complaint. I would recommend this hotel for convience and price

"Next time I'll know better"

13/08/2017

Good convenient location but NOT a hotel I'd want to spend a lot of time indoors. Room service staff not consistent maybe because short staffed; room amenities NOT great. Hotel skimped on renovations; ie. room door frame, bathroom plumbing.

"Close by to everything"

08/08/2017

Great hotel, staff are fantastic, it was my very first time at this Best Western in Montreal, very good location, not far for great restaurants, entertainment, public transit. Subway is located a 5-10 minute walk from the corner.

"Beware of per person charge"

2
08/08/2017

Please be aware that this hotel has a per person per day charge 'policy'. It is not mentioned anywhere on their web site, so you won't know this until you get there. I paid the full charge for the room online before I arrived. They called me in the room after I had checked in and already settled in and said that they'll be charging me $40 extra per day because I have 2 teenagers with me. I told them that I had specified when I booked and paid that we are a party of 3 and my girls' ages were specified as well. But this didn't matter. They said it was "hotel policy" and when I asked to see it in writing, they said "it doesn't exist"!! What kind of hotel 'policy' is that if you can't see it in writing!? Being charged extra per person per day is one thing, but to not be notified until you settle in the room is plain wrong! I should have been notified when I paid for the room or at least before I arrived! I never write any negative reviews about anything, but I didn't want anybody else to have the same issue.

"Great and VERY CLEAN!"

Awesome Staff, Awesome Hotel! They made my first time experience in Montreal even better knowing I had a great place to sleep! The restaurant located in the hotel is perfect if youre a big fan of Breakfast!

"Excellent value for location"

06/08/2017

Clean hotel located in downtown Montreal, near Ste-Catherine Street and stores/shops/restaurants. Good value for location. No hotel-owned restaurant on premises for the evenings, but a good breakfast restaurant in the lobby (Cora).

"Super Hotel"

4
05/08/2017

My room was spacious, it had a king bed and a sofa bed. Wonderful smoke-free, pet-free hotel. I liked that the room was carpet free. The service was friendly. The Cora's restaurant off the lobby served an amazing, inexpensive breakfast. I would definitely stay again.

"BW Plus Europa, Montreal"

5
03/08/2017

Location within walking distance from train station and subway. Important as we arrived by train and planned our trip around subway use. Hotel room was exceptionally large, 2 Queen beds and a pullout couch with sufficient floor space for all 6 of us.(4 grandchildren, my wife and myself.) Staff were helpful in providing directions. Only downside is there was no parking for those driving to Montreal. I would reccommend this hotel.

"Good value for a stay in Montreal Downtown"

4
02/08/2017

We booked a room of 2 double beds just one day before check-in. The price was good compared to other hotels in the downtown. The room was small but clean. The location is very good, next to the main streets, and just a few minutes' walk from the railway station and the art museum. A nice breakfast for everyone was included in the price.

"Convenient location, great staff, wish guests could use the stairs vs the slow elevators"

4
02/08/2017

This is among the nicer Best Western's I've seen. I love that the rooms have hard floors, rather than carpets. The room decor was modern and lovely as well. One of the 3 rooms in our group had a queen and a king bed, which was lovely for the parents and kid. I appreciated that the rooms had fridges. The biggest downside is there are two small elevators that are slow and no option to take stairs. I believe one elevator was out of commission for a bit during our stay. I inquired about taking the stairs between floors but was told it would set off the fire alarm. I also wish the room doors extended all of the way to the floor, as smells and sounds passed into the room easily due to the gap at the bottom of the door.

"Good location; average to below average rooms"

3
30/07/2017

The location is convenient, being close to Sainte Catherine street shopping district. Within walking distance to Eaton Centre shopping mall and can walk to Vieux Montreal and Chinatown. Room was okay with some sort of laminate floor rather than carpet. King bed in the room was saggy and sofa bed wasn't much better. Halls smelled musty. Seemed clean though. Room clock was set to wrong time, and couldn't figure out how to change time. No parking connected directly to hotel, so you'll be paying an extra $20-30 per day and walking a short distance. Paid over $200 per night for an average experience.

"Best staff and location and price for it's location!"

5
30/07/2017

Down the street from the Bell Center. Right off the street of St. Catherine. Very close to Crescent Street (if you enjoy the night life). Close enough walk to the Just for Laughs Festival. Highly recommend this hotel! And bonus: Chez Cora is in the building! A great breakfast restaurant with great friendly staff.

"Terrific Location"

4
27/07/2017

This place is in a perfect location for visiting Montreal. It is 1/2 block off Rue Saint Catherine which is the main street in Montreal. It is within easy walking distance to Metro stations on both the Blue and Orange lines. Crescent Street, filled with bars and restaurants, is two blocks away. The city tourist office was also only about four blocks from the hotel. We found the staff to be very helpful. Our first day that we returned from touring around the city our room had not been made up at 4:30 PM. We called the front desk and a maid arrived in about 5 minutes to clean the room. Our room was large but the windows were high up on the wall so there was no view of anything. The coffee maker in the room was temperamental and took a little time to get used to. We were disappointed with the restaurants in the hotel. The lunch and dinner restaurant had a sports bar type menu and the breakfast restaurant had the look of a chain coffee shop. There are dozens of other options close by so we skipped the restaurants in the hotel.

"First trip to Montreal"

2
26/07/2017

We arrived at this hotel. You come down the stairs with your luggage and walk to your right is the main desk. This after you hope your luggage doesn't kill you on the stairs. They greet you in both English and French, which I thought was great. Upon entering your room, you feel like you've just walked into the smallest room in your house. Door, bed TV, and tiny bathroom. Just like a small ensuite bathroom. No tub, you have a sink, toilet and skinny shower. I called down to ask for an upgrade, was told I was given the room with one of biggest queen beds. Yikes.... let me just say I felt like they converted old office rooms to sleeping rooms and squeezed out a tiny bathroom in it.

"Overall ok"

Excellent reception staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Clean and comfortable bed. Location was great, near metro station, shopping and restaurants. Close to underground mall in case it rains on your trip.

"Good location and nice staff, but really noisy and terrible AC"

3
16/07/2017

I was quite upset when I first arrived to find out that there was no onsite parking, since I specifically asked about this on the phone and was assured that there was. Parking ended up being an open, paid lot behind the hotel that could only be accessed by two creepy and very smelly alley ways. I ended up leaving my car there the whole time because I didn't want to have to walk through the ally at night. The staff was very nice and apologized for the error. I wasn't expecting much from the rooms, and I didn't get much. They were dated but clean. The worst part was the AC. It was a window unit that was VERY loud. It seemed to only have one temperature or setting (even though it stated otherwise). If we left the fan on low it continued to blow clod air all night until the room was freezing. We ended up having to turn it off when it got too cold and back on when it got too hot. They were also having problems with the very TINY elevators. When it reached the second floor, where my room was, the outter part of the door wouldn't open. It was a bit scary to see the inside of the elevator door and not be able to get out. However, they worked on it and had it fixed by that night. The best thing abou the hotel was the location and the price. Great central location and a reasonable price compared to the other hotels in the same area.

"Short and Fast visit"

16/07/2017

The Hotel is located in the centrum of the downtown Montreal. Very effective and fast access to two main streets Rue Sainte-Catherine and Boulevard Rene-Levesque. which are the One big Mall. The Hotel staff were very effective. The rooms clean but small and there are different kind of rooms.

"Great value downtown Montréal"

14/07/2017

Very nice modern and comfortable stay in central Montreal close to shopping, attractions, and great food. Our room was spacious, clean and attractive, with a King size bed, a sofa and a nice clean and modern bathroom. Cora's for breakfast on the main floor was a nice surprise.

"Excellent value for downtown Montreak"

12/07/2017

Rooms are clean and up to date. No smoking. Pleasant and convenient to everynthing downtown Montreal. 25 mins walk to Old Montreal. Cora's is right on the premises for an excellent breakfast. Indoor parking across the street-daily rate of $18 with in and out privileges.

"Great location, great service, recommended"

5
06/07/2017

I made two stays in this hotel, centrally located in Downtown Montreal. Natalie and all the front desk crew were very helpful and efficient. Checking in and out was a breeze. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The bathrooms were clean and fully equipped. All rooms have refrigerators. The beds are large and really comfortable. The hotel Europa Best Western is close to tours, dining, shopping, metro and the bus to the airport and the train station Gare Centrale. I took the bus 747 to the airport from a block away on the main thoroughfare René Lévesque. Drummond was the third stop and the airport the first on the way in. The bus was a real convenience for $10 C. I did have to buy the ticket at a Metro booth before boarding.

"would stay again"

4
05/07/2017

The hotel was fresh and modern. Room was comfortable, but may be cramped for two people. Staff was friendly but not intrusive. The TV had no reception. I called maintenance, but finally found a button on the bottom of the TV that connected. It would have been helpful if the front desk could have relayed that information to me.

"Great location"

3
02/07/2017

Stayed here for the first time just a few days ago. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Jessie (hope I spelled his name right). He was knowledgeable with directions and helped us figure our way around the public transportation system. The hotel is in an excellent location if you're interested in downtown shopping or sight seeing, or even catching a show or game at the Bell Center. I'd say it was only about a 5 minute walk away. The hotel has the popular Cora breakfast restaurant in the lobby and a place that I've never heard of before called Addie's. I was never a fan of Cora but had breakfast there because I didn't have to leave the building to get there. I went out for dinner to Addie's for the same reason but was very surprised when I tasted the food. My wife and I both loved it. Everyone has their own opinion but this place had delicious food. I had a great chicken burger with avocado, I'd definitely go there again next time I'm in town. Our room was nice, nothing fancy, but it was clean. Queen bed, decent sized TV. Bathroom had a window, which made it nice and bright. Not much of a view from the windows, but I was ok with that. We had a small combination safe in the room, big enough to hold a DSLR camera, ipad, wallets etc... My only real disappointment with the hotel is the fact that they don't have parking. Well, they do, but it's at an extra cost of $30 per night which can get quite expensive, depending on the length of your stay. So I parked my car, got to our room and looked out the window. First thing I noticed was the parking lot where I had just parked. I then noticed that my car was now blocked by someone else's car. I parked against a wall and someone parked right in front of me, blocking me in. I wasn't going anywhere so I didn't mind, but I can see how that could cause problems or be annoying for some people. The person who blocked me in wasn't being a jerk, that's just how the lot works. They cram as many cars in as possible, blocking you in if they need to. The price was pretty much the same all over to park for the night, but let's say you're staying Monday to Friday, you'd need an extra $150 just to leave your car there. That may not be much to some, but not everyone can afford that much. The price may be advertised on the website, but I don't remember seeing it. Some places have free parking, but may be more expensive per night. Just a heads up. Forgot to mention the hotel does have free Wifi, which may be a big deal to some more than others these days. I was able to watch Netflix on my iPad before bed without any trouble but I found the signal to be pretty weak or non existent while browsing online. I tried to buy tickets to La Ronde but my connection kept getting cut. So I guess it works, sometimes. All I really wanted was somewhere to sleep that wasn't too expensive and wasn't too far from downtown. This place was great for that. I wasn't blown away by anything there, but I'm happy with my experience. If you're looking for something super fancy with a great view, this is not it, look somewhere else. If you're looking for somewhere to sleep that's in a great location for entertainment or shopping, this place really can't be beat.

"The Room was very good"

4
02/07/2017

Stayed at this hotel for four nights for a quick getaway to Montreal. The hotel respected my emailed wishes for a quiet room away from the elevators and the construction which was taking place at the front of the building. No problems with anything. The room was large & clean with very nice basic furniture and a fridge, safe, iron & ironing board, desk, modern TV and lots of outlets. The internet was fast. The bed was very comfortable. There is a Cora's onsite and a restaurant but we didn't use them. Had a great stay.

25/06/2017

I booked a stay through Expedia. I pressed a wrong botton on my Ipad, and there I was, booked for two nights instead of one! Literally in the next seconds I call the hotel and Expedia to modify my reservation according to want I wanted. The reservation was a typo! The manager refused to help even though I was still asking for a one night stay. I am very desapointed in that reaction. Mistakes happen on the net and I was in good faith. This experience will make me think twice before doing business with them again!

"Great staff and excellent amenities"

Despite the construction across the street the stay was very enjoyable, helpful staff that spoke English which helped as my French is weak at best, great breakfast restaurant and Addies for dinner was excellent

"Great value"

23/06/2017

The hotel is great value. We stayed here during our trip to watch F1. The location was really good and within the mix of the F1 activities. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was next to the main shopping street, underground shopping centre and good choice of places to eat. You can walk to the main sights from the hotel and there are 2 stations near by. You can get the 747 bus from the airport to the hotel for 10 dollars.

"Great location at price-point"

4
23/06/2017

We arrived by air and took the 747 bus which stopped at the end of the block from our hotel. Saw construction opposite and a fire station nearby but happily never heard any noise during our 3 night stay. Steps or lift down to reception- all quick with great advice for dining and sightseeing. Location is great for walking. Ours was a standard king room. The bed and side tables took up the width of the room but it was quite long with a desk and a couple of chairs. The bathroom has had a modern upgrade with big shower. There is a coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is in a cafe accessed through the foyer. Lots of typical choices - tip is great savings up till 8am. Downside is noise (drone) from air conditioning units on the wall outside our room even though ours was turned off.

"Small but clean"

3
21/06/2017

Pillows are big and uncomfortable. Rooms are nice and clean. The hotel is close to many restaurants downtown Montreal. There is no pool but a great breakfast restaurant and an average lunch and supper restaurant is connected to it. Nothing for kids.

Good comfortable clean hotel in the heart of Centre-Ville. Close to many fine restaurants and attractions. It would be nice if there was a discounuted parking lot and if the window in the room opened. Bed was comfortable, bathroom nice, etcetera. Good location near to the Art Galleries and shopping. Can walk to Old Montreal and the Conference center. Good breakfast restaurant just next to Lobby. Beds are very comfortable Rooms and lobby are very basic but good value. Exercise room is small and not well equipped.

"Very disappointing "

1
17/06/2017

The hotel was the low point of our Montreal visit. We visited the week of Formula 1 Grand Prix and paid a price premium despite this not being the reason for our visit. We were assigned a VERY small room on a busy street opposite construction so we got no rest whatsoever with street noise all night (sirens, cars and human noise) and construction starting soon after 6am. We made every effort to spend as little time in our room as possible. The staffs response was that they couldn't do anything about the noise and they had no interest in moving us given how busy they were. The location is however convenient but will never stay here again especially given the comparison to a hotel we moved to the week after, 2 blocks away, at a cheaper rate including breakfast with night and day differences in service, room quality and noise levels. Too bad they were full the 1st week.

"room"

Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa - Since we arrived the hotel lobby, we were given a warm welcome! Nice room with new decor, with a very comfortable bed! Great location with restaurants and many shops nearby the hotel. The Metro station and bus stops near the hotel! This is the second time we stayed and next time we visit Montreal we will stay again! :)

"Not What I Would Expect Out Of A Best Western!!"

2
13/06/2017

A downtown Montreal hotel with no parking and no upgraded rooms; VERY small rooms; very small bathrooms; and VERY expensive considering the type of room and the quality of overall service. Not recommended unless you are really desperate, but be prepared to pay a SUPER premium!

Thierry R, General Manager at Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review
Dear Hany J. Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your stay with us. I must stay I was a little taken aback by some of the comments you made regarding your room if simply because the room you reserved & were given was second only to our 2 bedroom suite in terms of size. I am having difficulty understanding how a room with 2 queen beds & a queen sofa-bed capable of sleeping 6 adults could feel small for 1 single person as was your case. I was also surprised at your comments regarding the price of the room & the SUPER premium considering the fact that this was a stay paid with Best Western Rewards points and as such does not have a rate & is not subject to rate fluctuations. Perhaps I am missing some crucial information. If that is the case, I would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to share them so that we can find those areas of improvement that will benefit all our future guests. Hoping to hear from you soon.

"Best???western???"

12/06/2017

A windy rainy day brings me to Montreal ( weather totally unpredictable) and my booking is At the Europa best western. Constructions abuzz all around the hotel. No guiding instructions (thank god for gps on phone). Finally all drenched we reach the hotel and ask to check in. Greeted by first question... do you have a car? We charge extra parking for your car. 25$ to be precise! So yes I did have a car. But they didnt have a valet or a parking space. Supposedly they rent it out from a local thug company that have the rudest attendants available on earth. And he goes on to say you can park it once and not get out till tomorrow. Now come on guys you must be kidding, i come to montreal and expect to be roaming the streets for sightseeing atleast once. So yes I can do that but it will be hourly parking fees and you will have to pay extra for the over night parking too. And did i mention that the parking lot has access to from 2 shadiest scariest and dirtiest back alleys. That any decent man or woman would think twice before entering. So much for parking woes! Lets enter the hotel. The room doesnt even begin and it finishes. If I stretched my hands (tall guy6'3) i can actually touch the ceiling and the walls. So kind of holed up. The saving grace is the bed that was atleast bug free and firm. But took up most of the space in d room. And bathroom shower has no power. In a drizzle thats weaker than the downpour outside. For the bomb thats charged(200$ per night) its one of the worst value for money trips I had. It has just one plus point. And that its very conviniently located but there are a million hotels nearby that would be worth the money and the stay. Would I stay in this hotel again???? N O!

"Untrained front desk clerks."

3
11/06/2017

We came for the Grand Prix with a group of friends. We had a suite with a kitchen. I went down to the front desk for wine glases. The clerk told me they only had plastic cups. I informed her that I was in a suite with dishes and glassware. She was surprised. She did not know they had suites. She was able to produce one wine glass. The first night, we put our dirty glasses in the dishwasher and washed them. The second night we put our dirty glasses in the dishwasher, but had no detergent. We thought the maid would bring detergent and run the dishwasher. We returned to find dirty glasses in the dishwasher which we hand washed with the soap from the bathroom. The third night we asked for detergent as we left for the dinner. The desk clerk told me they did not have dishwashers. I explained that our room had a kitchen. She was surprised. When we returned from dinner, I was told where a grocery was located and to buy my own. I asked to speak to the manager and was told there was none on duty. Two of the front desk clerks had no idea the hotel had a suite with a kitchen. This shows poor training. If I wanted to wash dishes by hand and supply my own cleaning supplies, I would have camped in a tent.

"Catching the train next morning "

08/06/2017

I really wouldn't recommend this place. It's old looking and not acquaint. The beds are very uncomfortable. It took a long time to check in, I get it, it's the Grand Prix weekend. However, with that being said, maybe more front desk staff would have helped. This is certainly not worth the jacked up price.

"perfect location for a great price"

4
06/06/2017

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. The price was very reasonable for a great location, right in the middle of everything. It is true that there is construction nearby but if you are gone during the day, it won't bother you. Actually, I slept extremely well there, the room was quiet and the bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was good. My room was rather small and a bit dated, but the price and location are unbeatable.

"stay on drummond best western"

06/06/2017

Hotel room was clean, bed very comfortable and shower great. If you are looking for luxury you will not find it at this hotel. The location was excellent for price but not a hotel to lounge around in. If you plan to be outside a lot and need a place to crash/sleep then I highly recommend it. I felt safe as I was a female on my own travelling for a conference.

"Great Location!"

4
03/06/2017

The location was awesome, close to restaurants, shops, etc. Staff were very nice and welcoming. Room was a bit dated. Hotel lobby is getting a bit old. Price was great for downtown. Construction was next door, but it wasn't an issue.

"Construction across the street- no sleep"

2
02/06/2017

And yes, my one request was a very quiet room... I needed sleep.... this hotel is fine if you are up before 7 am... actually they start a few minutes before even if not allowed. Condos being built outside my window. Absolute hell! Besides that I thought price was right. Great location. Parking not on site ($25 outside parking -150 feet away)but typical of many Montreal hotels at this price. Renos are quite decent. But omg even with my usual earplugs for hotel stays this was impossible. Shame. Maybe other side of hotel would have been bit better.

"In need of an upgrade"

3
30/05/2017

Location was excellent, near to Peel Metro and easy access to the underground shopping city. Hotel is in need of an upgrade, deco looking very tired! Bedroom was standard, quiet small compared to others we have stayed in. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was good. Was ok, for 2 nights.

"Just... don't...."

28/05/2017

This hotel is a dive. I have stayed in many 3-star hotels and this was by far the worst. The room decor was beyond depressing, it had the ambiance of a jail cell. Our view was-quite frankly-hilarious and I wish I could post a picture. It literally looked like the scene of a horror movie. The internet connection was painful; I could barely send emails let alone browse the web. The bed was quite comfortable which was probably the only highlight of the trip. That, and the cleaning staff were friendly (despite cleaning the room at 6pm one night). Definitely do not recommend.

"The Small Rooms..."

27/05/2017

First off let me say this place has an awesome location! Near to everything, including Peel Metro. They have some rooms that are listed as "Small". These small rooms are just fine, the washroom however can be difficult to negotiate if you are a larger person (in any dimension) or have mobility issues. The hotel restaurant is quite decent. Staff is friendly and generally helpful.

Convenient, Clean and Close to everything I have stayed a number of times and have never had anything less than a great experience. The restaurant is also great, Staf is great. Jesse at the front desk was exceptionally helpful.

I stayed two night in best western plus in Drummond. it is in the heart of downtown 1 minute to the famous shopping street Ste Catherine. everything was with a walking distance. Service was good, staff was helpful, room was clean but small. I would say it is more of a budget hotel tho the rate was not cheap

"Close to everything!"

17/05/2017

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while enjoying downtown Montreal. We had a renovated king suite on second floor. Spacious room although bathroom is tiny. It suited our needs well. Bed was comfortable and although we were only on the second floor, the construction noise across the street was barely heard. This hotel is close to everything and that was the biggest selling point for us. We would return in the future when staying in Montreal again.

"Hotel in Montreal"

14/05/2017

Centrally located with easy access to major shopping/attraction areas. Very clean large room, comfortable bed, free internet and refrigerator. However, parking is outside in the back of the building with no rear access. You have to walk down an alley .. not good on rainy days or in the winter time.

"Stay in Downtown Montreal, Canada"

14/05/2017

This hotel has good location as it is located in the heart of the city. The daily rate does not include Parking, making the cost of the stay expensive. The cost of the meal is reasonable, the machines in the fitness room looks impressive but DO NOT work properly.

The Best Western Europa was a great hotel to stay in for work and/or play in downtown Montreal. The hotel is right in the middle of the city close by to lots of night life. The hotel is within walking distance of many locations for work or play. The staff are very friendly and full of advice for the first time visitor to Montreal.

"VERY WELL LOCATED HOTEL WITH A FEW ISSUES"

4
09/05/2017

We had 5 rooms booked at this property for a trade show. The hotel is older but quite well kept as far as the exterior goes. The lobby is large and clean, and the staff are very helpful. The hotel is less than a block from St. Catherines Street, and there are a number of restaurants close to the hotel. The rooms are a reasonable size, with excellent beds and amenities. The biggest problem was that room cleanliness was not what I normally expect from this type of business hotel. The management were very proactive at addressing these issues when brought to their attention by my associates. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel or stay in it again.

It was good experience. The hotel was a good location for the purpose of the famiy gathering. The Bell Centre was a walk away from the hotel. Also the shopping malls are nearby for the shopping experience.

"Clean, friendly - and close to the Bell Centre"

02/05/2017

Booked this hotel while in town to watch a hockey game. It is well situated with the Bell Centre only a couple blocks away and several shops & restaurants nearby on Rue St Catherine. The hotel has a small tourist shop for purchases and has a Cora's for lunch/breakfast and a second attached restaurant for lunch/dinner. The hotel room was functional and comfortable for a 4 night stay. The room was clean and employees were very friendly. I would stay here again.

I thought that a small room might mean a noisy room from neighbors or hallways. Not true. My room was very quiet and with dark shades on windows I slept very well. My room was perfect with a small refrigerator a very clean bathroom and new TV. I was very pleased with my stay at BW and I love Montreal. I walked over 6 miles from Old Town to Beaux Arts museum to hotel. A great city to walk in.

"Convenient to the Bell Centre"

26/04/2017

My fella and I have stayed here a number of times when we go to Montreal to watch the Habs play. The service is pleasant and it is reasonably priced. They have upgraded the place to some degree.Modern tiling behind the front desk, metal and glass tables on each floor at the elevator, bronze tone padded headboards, but The walls are thin and you can hear everything! On our last stay, the elevator was misbehaving and the doors closed prematurely 3 times and squashed me between them. A rather unpleasant and quite painful experience. I hope it has been repaired. Overall, this place is a good choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced downtown stay that is close to shopping on St. Catherine St. and the Bell Centre.

Good hotel. Comfy beds, clean rooms. Not elaborate, but great for the price. The front desk person was extremely friendly. I liked the wood (vinyl) floors as opposed to carpet. Rooms were basic, small, but good enough for what I needed. Most importantly, they were clean.

Great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. upon checking in the staff gave us a complimentary upgrade for the room. This hotel is very close to shopping with St. Catherines street very close by. There are many restaurants near by to the hotel too. Downstairs by the lobby there is a cora's restaurant which is so convenient and a restaurant/pub located in the hotel as well. Walking distance to the bell Centre and St. Catherine's street. The room was spacious, very clean, large bathroom with a very nice shower.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Avoid the "small" rooms; the bathroom hardly big enough to sit on the toilet. Pay the bit extra for a regular room. Tons of shopping and dining nearby. Access to metro station and "underground city" 1.5 blocks away. "Cora" restaurant attached provided fast service.

"Ok but will never go again."

04/04/2017

No hotel parking, you'll have to walk the way to a public parking lot. They are close-by, but the prices are atrocious. I had a king sized corporate renovated room on my reservation and got "downgraded" to a queen + king bedroom. When i insisted on getting the proper room, I was offered an additional downgrade to a regular un-renovated king room. It's supposed to be a free upgrade, but we all know they just overbooked and then had to force that to the customers, and that alone is sufficient for me to never come again to this establishement.

Kassandra N, Front Office Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review
Bonjour M. Fontaine, Thank you for sharing your experience. I am very sorry to know we were not able to meet your expectations. If I remember correctly, the room with two beds was in fact an upgrade, because the room is bigger. We then offered you a room with only one King size bed to meet your request. Again I am very sorry about the misunderstanding and I am sad to hear we will not be able to welcome you again. Kind regards, Kassandra

27/03/2017

Well situated. The room wasn't too big but Ok,it was clean.Bathroom is pretty small but at least they have a bath, not only a shower. Having the Cora restaurant just downstairs is a plus when you get up in the morning. Parking is a bit expensive. Its the second time we go there this year because of the location and reasonable price mid week.

"Great hotel"

28/11/2016

Once again this is a great hotel! Coras restaurant downstairs room was clean and great service. There was a fire alarm at midnight one night and had to evacuate for an hour but all was fine! My wife talked to front desk about the situation upon check out and that out fridge was not very cold and were given half off, which was more than generous. Will definitely stay again when in Montreal!

"Great location. No frills hotel"

4
27/11/2016

This is a no frills hotel in a great location. The rooms are slightly small and typical looking. Very clean. The best part is the hotel is located 15 Min walk from the VIA Rail station, 5 min walk to the Metro, Bell Centre, Art Gallery and shopping district on St Catherine street. Very friendly and helpful front Desk. I would stay here again.

"Great location and price"

5
21/11/2016

We were in Montreal to see a Habs game and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. It's conveniently located in the middle of the city centre only 5 minutes from the Bell Centre. Express bus from the airport stops 2 mins down the street. Front desk staff are friendly, check in and out were quick and efficient. Rooms are somewhat small but are modern and clean. Highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here next time in the area.

"Should be rated #1!!"

18/11/2016

We were in Montreal Nov. 9-13 to see Amy Schumer (who ended up POSTPONING her gig, URGH) but WOW.....WHAT a great little hotel! Absolutely perfect location, very nice staff, clean rooms, what more can you ask for! Sure, everyone complains about it being on a one way street and near construction but don't fault the hotel for that!!! The only issue I had was the lack of space in the bathroom to put toiletries....pedestal sinks should be a no-no in hotels! I will totally stay here again if I have the chance to return to Montreal and would strongly recommend it as "the place to stay"!!

"Good budget hotel"

4
14/11/2016

My stay was to attend a conference at the Palais des Congres de Montreal. Since I was travelling alone I chose to stay off the shopping street St. Catherines, which is always busy with people out on the streets. This gives me a feeling of safety when going out for dinner or returning later in the evening. The metro was very close and taking 2 trains to the conference was fast and easy. The price for the hotel was very good, the room was not large but adequate for one person and very clean. There is an attached Cora's for breakfast or down the street is Rubans (very reasonable price). 747 bus to the airport is about 1 1/2 blocks away or taxi to the airport is $40.00 flat rate.

"Quiet Location, good restaurant"

4
12/11/2016

I had the pleasure of staying here for 8 nights starting on September 25. The location is ideal if you're going to a hockey game, shopping, concerts or in my case working downtown. The room was spacious with hardwood floors. I was worried about hearing the people above me with the hardwood floors but I heard nothing the whole time I was there. One night I could hear people in the hallway coming back from the Adele concert but the noise was short-lived. The room had 2 queen beds, a large flat-panel TV with a lot better stations that I got at another major hotel downtown! The bathroom is small but was immaculate with a good shower. There isn't much space to put things in the bathroom. One small shelf above the toilet and that was all. The bed was very comfortable. One thing to be aware of is that the rooms do not have a view...anywhere in the building. My room overlooked the roof of another part of the building. It was what I called a "partial sky view". You don't go here for a view of the city...that's for sure! There seemed to be some construction across the street but I didn't hear any noise from it. The staff here was very nice and helpful. Check-in was seamless and quck. I ate in their restaurant, Addies, several times. The food was quite good but the menu was fairly limited. The bartenders were attentive and quick with your drinks. There was another woman that was working there that seemed to be the manager who was very aloof, never gave me the time of day. But, as long as the bartenders brought me my drink & food in a decent amount of time I didn't care. Overall this hotel/restaurant was a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. It was farther away than I wanted to be for work purposes but the city was packed with conventions, hockey & Adele. There wasn't much choice. Would I stay here again? Yes, I would! Thank you BW.

"Location, Location"

08/11/2016

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus- its a perfect location on the corner of Drummond and St. Catherine's street- everything is within walking distance. Staff were very friendly and check in and out were a breeze. My only complaint is that our room was very fragrant- like too much men's cologne. Also our room had a horrible view- well no view really about a 5 foot gap then another wall. We didn't complain as we weren't in Montreal for the hotel room! Parking was located in the back ally for about $40 per nightOverall good value for the money and a great location for anything you'd want to do Downtown Montreal!

"Good Location"

3
08/11/2016

Great Location to Bell Centre. Was in Montreal for concert at the Bell Centre and arrived in city through VIA rail. 15 Min walk from VIA Rail, 5 min walk to Bell. Right near shopping on St Catherine's.

"Random Phone Call at 4am Ruined My Stay"

1
05/11/2016

I essentially flew in at 3pm to attend a 4:30 meeting, go to a business dinner, attend a 7:30am breakfast meeting and then fly out at 11am. When I arrived the room looked clean and simple. However, the closer I looked it was very much like being in a college dorm room, perhaps just a tad larger. But hey, I'm there for about 15 hours and just need a place to sleep so I won't be picky right? Problem was that after some great meetings, dinner and a late night I received a random phone call to my room at 4am and by the time I figured of where the phone was (having been in a very deep sleep) there was nobody on the line. Unfortunately it was just enough that I messed up my sleep and I had trouble falling back to sleep. When it was time for my breakfast meeting I was exhausted. I tried to ask at the front desk what happened but it was chaotic and the person didn't understand how I could have received a call in the middle of the night, so I decided to let it go and just share it here instead. To make matters worse, this basic room that proved not to be a good experience was almost $300 because every hotel in the city was booked and the rates elsewhere were truly insane. Next time I'll book early and go to the W.

"convenient location, quiet rooms, friendly staff"

5
04/11/2016

Nice rooms, good location to explore the city. Shopping and dining is very close. I felt very safe as a solo traveler. Also lots of metro stations and bus stops nearby. Bus 747 from/to Montreal airport worked perfectly for me.

"convenient location, quiet comfort"

4
02/11/2016

This hotel is located in the heart of Montreal's downtown on a fairly quiet side-street. For fit people without heavy luggage it is in walking distance of the city's central train station. An added convenience is the fact that there are 2 restaurants in the building. We stayed in this hotel twice and found our room neat and quiet. The last time we stayed here we were in room 528 which was spacious, clean and quiet, but it had no view. There is a parking lot behind the hotel. The hotel is a bit pricey but one has to pay for luxury and convenience

"Definitely "Europa""

3
01/11/2016

We have stayed in Europe and this location is consistent with that experience. The location of this hotel is surrounded by some seedy activity and this is certainly not a BW "Plus" establishment. Having said that, we would stay here again with different expectations and rate.

"Room Small But Close To Everything Downtown"

4
01/11/2016

Rooms were a bit small but clean. Staff was VERY friendly and offered excellent info when asked questions we had about the city. Great location as it's close to everything downtown, the Bell Centre (GO HABS), shopping and very close to airport bus route.

"Everything excellence but parking"

4
31/10/2016

The out sourced public parking arranged by hotel at behind is not cool. The parking lot booth staff asked us not going out at night since they are all double parked and very difficult to move the car. Also, there is construction right at the front entrance. Dusty and bumpy. It wasn't a best family travel experience with kid and elder . Beside those, the location is good .

"Pass on by"

2
30/10/2016

AAA made reservations, disappointed. Entire city is under construction, roads are a mess with detours, although drivers were usually non-aggressive. Hotel on one way street, unloading luggage was a chore. No luggage carriers available for 20 minutes while I stayed outside with luggage so husband could go around block to park car for$30 per day. Fee was disclosed but inconvient. Took car out once and each parking attendant kept telling us we had to pay each time. Make sure you get parking pass from hotel and put on dash.Take lift from street level with luggage down, check in, take another lift to go to rooms. Cora restaurant expensive, but Addias on second floor was good and staff friendly. Hotel as old imitation wood floors were cupping. Beds were on platforms and both husband snd I kept hitting our knees until we moved furniture around and out e tea pillows on the corners of bed. Package store close as was shopping. Enjoyed trip, would stay elsewhere

"Nice hotel within walking distance of historic area"

4
29/10/2016

Our room had hardwood floors which was nice (hotel carpet can sometimes be rather disgusting). Room was rather a quirky layout with a post in the middle even, but was quite spacious. It was nice to have two queen beds instead of two doubles. Breakfast is not included. Free luggage storage in a locked room was a bonus as we had an evening flight out of town.

"Good Value, Convenient Location"

3
28/10/2016

Pros: Conveniently located one block from a lot of action on Saint Catherine street. Good size rooms that were clean. Cons: Bathroom was dated. No onsite parking (needed to use a garage a block away). Overall not a bad stay and good value for the money. I would recommend and stay here again.

"Handy!"

4
26/10/2016

We stayed three nights in Montreal at this BW hotel. Room was bright and nicely furnished. The bathroom was small, with only one person able to fit into it at a time. Also, the shower head water pressure was just a trickle making showering a bit of a chore. Windows do not open so the air conditioner fan was the only source of air circulation. However, I find that the noise it produces makes sleep a little more difficult. Front desk offered umbrellas for the day, while it was absolutely pouring. Front desk friendly.

"Nice stay"

4
25/10/2016

Just finished a weekend getaway to Montreal. Stayed at the Best Western on Drummond. We arrived very early and took a chance to see if we could check in early. We were greeted by a very friendly bilingual front desk staff. She was able to check us in and also upgraded our room. Room itself was large and spacious. King bed was comfortable. Washroom was a bit small but manageable. Location of hotel is excellent! Just off St. Catherine's and close to shopping and great places to eat! Recommend Reuben's for their smoked meat and Au Pain Dore on Peel Street for their almond croissants.

"Go elsewhere!"

The PLUS + location, location, location + Boutique style lobby The MINUSES - The hallway was bit dirty and, smelled a bit musty. - I found several strands of someone else's hair in the bed and in the bath tub. - The bathroom caddy was rusted beyond belief. - I could not find a single socket to plug my phone into near my bed. UNLESS I unplugged the nightlight. -The bathroom was very small and crampy. - I made coffee the 1st morning with the coffee pouch. The next morning I went to make coffee only to realize the coffee pouch from the morning before was still in the coffee maker. -The counter in the bathroom was not properly secured to the wall and therefore could not put anything on it otherwise it would have fallen down. - Given the price point of this hotel, they could have at least provided a pair of those cheap disposable slippers and shower cap in the room. - When i was checking out I told the receptionist that i needed to change my payment method. She directed me to the other counter with a bit of annoyance in her voice. As i was finalizing my transactions with the 2nd receptionist, I overheard the 1st receptionist asking another guest about his stay. Needless to say neither one of them asked me about my stay. I guess they could care less about my experience! Having said that, for the price of $ 214.00CAD/night this hotel is simply not worth it!! I would have been better off to stay in a BnB for less.

"Least expensive, very nice!"

21/10/2016

We took the Amtrak train from NY to Montreal & needed a hotel within reasonable distance from the Amtrak station. Most hotels were in the $250-$300 range. We found this gem of a hotel that was $100 less than the others. Nice accommodations & very clean.

"Great Location - Clean, Comfortable"

4
21/10/2016

Excellent location in Montreal. Very close to the Bell Centre and Concordia and McGill Universities. Room was pretty large and complimentary toiletries were high quality. Staff friendly and helpful. No parking on-site was an issue

"Construction Site"

4
20/10/2016

Great suite-had a balcony and we had wonderful weather so enjoyed the outside area. There is construction going on so you can not park (even temporarily)outside the hotel...really challenging to register. The parking lot is before the hotel on a one way street-so make sure you park first. Lugging our luggage to the hotel was not pleasant-but the staff were very nice. Great location for shopping and the Bell Centre.

"In the heart of downtown"

Not the fanciest hotel downtown, But i bet the most helpful !! We ended up staying for two nights due to the Hurricane going through Miami !! Small rooms, but very clean !! I would stay there again in a heartbeat :)

"Executive Management...Open your eyes!"

1
19/10/2016

I was excited to visit Montreal for the first time however our stay at Best Western Europa was a disappointment. The staff was less than accommodating and very cold and unfriendly. We rented the one and only suite which included a kitchenette fully equipped with a dishwasher but no soap to wash the dishes and not enough dishes for us to use. When I asked for soap to wash the dishes I was told there was none (no dishwasher soap in the entire hotel? The staff made us feel like we were inconveniencing them anytime we asked for something...which wasn't often. When I requested more dishes to use I was delivered plastic forks and 3 Styrofoam plates. The stove didn't work and the pullout hide-abed didn't have proper bedding, sheets or pillowcases (cases for pillows were given to us on day three). One day, housekeeping completely forgot to clean our room. On the third day of our 4-night stay, we woke up to a loud horn blowing starting at 6am til 10am because apparently staff at the hotel were protesting to Management about working conditions. Well now the very poor customer service all made sense, Alas there is more! The hotel does not offer parking (even thought the lot in the back of the hotel says "Hotel Parking" it cost 30$ a day and offered in and out privileges, but on the 3rd day, our vehicle was boxed in. three rows of cars blocked us in, When I asked to have the vehicles moved so that my kids and I may go to the museum; I was confronted with a bad attitude and given fault for inconveniencing the lot attendants for having to move the parked cars all around us. When I defended myself for paying for a service (30$ a day) that permitted in and out privileges, I was immediately asked to leave and never park in the lot again (was offered a full refund which never transpired). How was this my fault? I even encountered a housekeeping maid who when I asked if there was a service elevator to the suite which was on the 5th floor and was only accessible by stairs; my father who is a stroke patient needed disability accessible to the suite to visit us found it hard to access. The maid said...I don't speak English...in English. One day later I was in the elevator and the very same maid stopped our elevator going down and asked me...in English..."Excuse me, is this elevator going down?" Seriously??? I thought she didn't speak English? You staff lack basic customer service skills and don't seem to care at all about the guests that stay in your hotel. This tarnished my impression of Montreal thinking that people in this city are uninviting and are arrogant. Therefore, my rating for this hotel is 2/10

Very pleased with the BW "Plus" brands so far...and this was no exception. Although we arrived before check-in time, we were given our keys by friendly staff. The room was large and the bath had the largest shower I've ever seen in a hotel! No view, but not a big deal. Very close to great shopping and restaurants, and the subway is within walking distance. Taxi stand just outside of hotel door. Oh and we had the best burger and fries EVER on St. Catherine's street at Mister Steer. Great stay!

"Little overpriced for quality."

18/10/2016

Stayed here for a longer business stay. Hotel is reasonable, but not more. On the website it was listed to have data ports in rooms, but there was only Wi-Fi (good speed though). Rooms reasonable clean, but not super. Breakfast not included, only available in adjacent Cora breakfast restaurant. Rooms are on the small side, fridge and desk available, sufficient facilities, like coffee maker are in room available. Parking is not on-site and is quite expensive (CAD24 per 24hrs)

"A friendly, convenient stay in the heart of the city"

The Best Western Plus - Hotel Europa is located conveniently in downtown Montreal within walking distance to the "old city", to St. Catherine's St. shopping district, and to a number of good restaurants. There is even a good breakfast restaurant, with good variety, attached to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making sure we enjoyed our mini vacation.

17/10/2016

The location was excellent, the staff was very good and friendly.Disappointed that there was no free breakfast.I know parking is a problem in downtown Montreal but the Hotel should have someone walk you to the parking lot as there was many people homeless around the lot especially at night andthey really need lights in the lane ways to the parking lots

"Great location"

16/10/2016

This is an older hotel that has been renovated. It is very clean and was quiet. There is a Chez Cora restaurant on site as well as a bar/restaurant called Addie's. There is also a small convenience/gift shop and a hair salon. The wifi is free and worked well. The bathroom is small - not a lot of places to set your stuff. The elevators are also small but they are very quiet and reliable. The Bell Center is about 2 blocks away and Crescent street is 2 blocks away with many bars and restaurants. There is a Metro stop nearby, and you can buy a 3 day pass for $18 CDN. St. Catherine street is a block away with lots of great stores. Also the underground shopping is great.

"Best value in the heart of downtown"

16/10/2016

Great hotel right in the heart of downtown Montreal. Can't get any closer to the action. Very nice staff and the room, while small (for standard) was very clean and convenient. Full renovated recently and everything is convenient. Quiet (did not hear anything from neighbours. Bathroom contained a large shower but otherwise small. No safe and they should provide a couple of water bottles in the fridge (for what they cost when bought in bulk). Although I am a Diamond cardholder, I was not given any upgrade. They said they were full, but the floor didn't seems that busy. Otherwise, it's a nice hotel (I would rate at a 3.5 star) and will return why in Montreal again. No parking, but park on Stanley in Autopark Stanley where you can leave the car for 24hrs for $17.75. It's a covered multi level lot. Breakfast at Chez Cora is great and while connect to hotel lobby, it's independent so they don't charge crazy hotel prices. Bacon and egg and pancakes will cost $7 if you grab the early bird special before 8.

"great location just off St Catherine St"

13/10/2016

the rooms very a good size clean...parking was an issue but then again you in the heart of Montreal......the only other problem is that there are not enough staff at the front counter either check in or when you check out..that should be improved..but apart from that it is your standard Best Western good value for money

"Terrible Room"

1
13/10/2016

The room was cramped and tiny with only an uncomfortable double bed. For the amount of money, $259, I expected better quality! You could hardly move around in the room. The lobby and the nearby restaurants were good, but there is no breakfast service at this hotel. The airport shuttle service they advertised was public transportation several blocks away. I am a BW Diamond Member and this is the worst value I have ever experienced.

"Central, clean ... priced right and perfect for Monteal"

11/10/2016

Took train from Toronto to Montreal. Less then 10 min easy walk to hotel. The hotel seems like it was recently renovated. Smallish rooms but that's typical for big cities. Clean rooms. Laminate floors which are easy to clean, better then carpet. Staff are accommodating. There is a Coras attached for breakfast but Tims and McDonalds are less then 5 min away for less expensive or quicker options. I highly recommend this hotel in Montreal.

"Our Usual"

11/10/2016

We have stayed at this hotel twice now. We have decided that we will stay here every time we stay in Montreal. The location is two blocks from shopping on St. Catherine and close to lots of restaurants and pubs. The hotel is clean and comfortable and has two restaurants on site.

"will definitely be my "stay" place when visiting Montreal"

4
10/10/2016

I just had my second visit to Montreal and staying at the Europa. The location is excellent, the staff great. During this visit our room was next to the exit door to the stairs. Early in the morning it was impossible to sleep as the door opened and shut so many times. We thought about asking to change rooms but as neither of us are complainers we decided to stay put. This will be indicated in my "sleep quality" rating; however, anyone reading this will read that it didn't happen during my last visit. I would have given it excellent last time. When I return to Montreal again, I'll definitely stay here!!

"Great Location"

06/10/2016

Booked this hotel as part of a last minute weekend getaway to Montreal. The price was great, room was clean with lots of fresh linen each day. On the last day before we checked out we did find some ants on the floor. We made the front desk aware and they offered us a discount on the room to compensate for the ants. Aside from this the overall experience was great. The location was A-1. Close to everything! I would give it another shot!

"Nice Hotel"

06/10/2016

I Highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely come back if I come to Montreal again. The staff is also really kind, introduced us what to do were to go and how to get there. Although the official language in Montreal is French but we did not have any problem communicating with the hotel staff as all speak English.

"Wonderful stay in Montreal"

04/10/2016

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights! Very quiet, clean and wonderful location. 1 block from Bell Centre. 1/2 block from St Catherine's Street and very close to 3 Metro stops. Ideal location! We will definitely stay again!

"Great place to stay"

Location is amazing. Every way you turn there was a spot to enjoy. Bell Centre, shopping on St. Catherine Street, great places to eat and great tattoo parlour! Rooms were cozy and clean. Staff kind and helpful. ??

"Avoid like the plague"

02/10/2016

I was forced to stay. Here for one night because I extended my stay and all my normal favorites were sold out. They say this hotel is a 3 star, but 2 star is more like it. They had the nerve to try to charge $450 for a crappy room (673) that I had to take a staircase to get to. Aside from the sheer depressing nature of the room, I found a bug on the shower curtain, and it turned out the room sat on top of the elevator shaft and it made clanking noises all night. There is no parking although they have an arrangement with an outdoor lot down the street. The only small good thing I would say is that when I complained about the elevator noise upon checking out, they discounted my rate by 50%, but really I still feel I overpaid for such a terrible room. Bottom line, only stay here if you are desperate.

"Too bad about the manager"

3
02/10/2016

Travelled with friends to see Adele. The hotel is in a perfect central location. Was happy with the staff and room was fine but the manager Savuth was so arrogant and rude!! Not sure why someone with this personality is in the business of serving the public. Too bad. Otherwise I would stay here again because of the location.

"Lovely Hotel"

01/10/2016

We spent four nights in this hotel and were pleasantly surprised. The room was large and comfortable, very clean and well kept and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The room does not have carpeting but, instead, had laminate which gave the room an even cleaner feel. The king bed was very comfortable. We liked the fact that the room had a programmable safe. It also came with the standard coffee maker, microwave and fridge. All were equally convenient and much appreciated. The hotel is located in a good area, just below Rue St. Catherine which is a vibrant place with excellent shopping, cafes and restaurants and is a five minute walk from the Bell Center. If we had to offer any negatives it would be the fact there is no recycling bin in the room and that the cleaning staff (who, by the way, do an excellent job) start early in the day. So, if you are not an early riser, make sure you have the do not disturb sign on your door. I would readily recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Montreal.

"Very good."

Good location, very comfortable hotel. Perfect bed . Very nice staff, perfect service. The breakfast place located in the hotel serves the most complete delicious breakfast. Very convenient for the hotel guests . Good value for your money. Will go back.

"Had a wonderful stay"

28/09/2016

We stayed here for 7 days. The manager and staff went out of their way to accommodate us with our room as well as helping us out finding our way the first time in Montreal. The room was not large but very clean. We had a large deck that we shared with one other room and we spent most evenings on it. The location was close to the metro and to literally dozens of restaurants. Getting around was very easy. Would recommend this hotel based on the service of the staff alone.

"Worst Montreal Hotel Ever"

1
27/09/2016

We booked this on Aeroplan Points for 4 nights so may have got the worst room. But is was the worst room we have ever had at Best Western or in Montreal. It was small and dingy, one tiny window looking out at a wall. The clock and fridge did not work or the air control (fridge was fixed on complaint by replugging to a working wall plug). Cleaning was poor, dirt on corridor outside door was there the whole time. Last day saw no floor, bathroom or surface cleaning. TV system froze every 5 minutes. The WiFi worked fine, reception staff were friendly, location is great for Centre Ville. But really, West Western needs to maintain better standards. This is a terrible hotel by any standards.

"Parking is terrible"

2
27/09/2016

The parking lot was behind the hotel through a dark alley filled with dumpsters: intimidating and probably not safe after dark particulary if you are alone. However, the hotel staff did provide someone to walk with me to the car at checkout (it was still dark out).

"amazing hotel"

5
26/09/2016

the hotel itself looks a little bit outdated, especially the hallways, but the room itself is nice and modern. It was tiny, but it was perfect! The staff was friendly, the hotel was always cleaned. It was a great place to stay and so close to everything downtown Montreal!

"Good location downtown"

4
24/09/2016

Friendly staff made us feel welcomed Room had good shower water pressure and comfortable beds. We had no problems with noise made for easy sleeping. Easy walking distance to all of downtown and to train. parking is off site there is one one block away which is convenient but with a draw back being they only take cash.

"Adequate hotel ....."

3
23/09/2016

Basic hotel, set in a good location close to downtown and old Montreal. Although there has been a refurbishment, the hotel is still pretty average. Our safe was not working but is was fixed straight away and the hot water was a bit hit and miss. However it was clean with helpful staff and not expensive. Breakfast was available at Coras located within the hotel and was plentiful, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced.

"Good location"

19/09/2016

Good location. Central and on metro line. Clean rooms. perfect for business trips as really well located. Friendly staff at front desk. Breakfast at Cora off the hotel lobby is great value and convenient.

15/09/2016

We were very pleasantly surprised to find our room so cozy. It was small but very well appointed with everything one needs. It was also extremely clean. Our king size bed and pillows were very comfortable. All linens in bathroom and bedroom were of good quality. The hotel is very good and surprisingly quiet in such a busy city. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We will stay at this hotel when visiting Montreal again.

i spent the night twice in this hotel and never disappointed! i love that its affordable, and the location is not so bad either. the service is good and the staffs are also nice. i definitely have nothing to complain about :)

"It reminds me of Tokyo hotels"

4
13/09/2016

Rooms are super tiny reminding me of my accommodation in Japan. The room provides basic amenities with modern furniture. The room is clean and is more than sufficient for the overnight stay in downtown. The bathroom has a nice shower, however, the sink is tiny with not much counter space available. The Wi-Fi internet is very fast - impressive as not many hotels provide such a good connection.

"Very nice hotel!"

5
10/09/2016

This was where we stayed at the very start to a 2 week holiday and it started out just great! Very clean, modern room without carpet which is wonderful. Helpful staff, perfect location downtown near everything. Walked the infamous Mont Royal, St Catherine Street with it's wonderful shopping! We are English speaking Canadians who understand and speak just a little French...it was NEVER an issue, everyone we encountered was pleasant to deal with and tried their hardest to communicate...most spoke perfect English anyway, just a great experience overall.

Front deck staff - friendly and very helpful Rooms - small, however comfortable Restaurant - good food and lots of it. Bar - friendly staff nice decor Maid service - could use some help, they forget a lot Great location, if you love to walk this is the hotel for you

"Great price and location"

06/09/2016

Couldn't ask for more conveniently located hotel at the price. Close to everything, bars, shopping and of course the arena. Def recommend if you looking for something in the middle of town at a budget price.

"Great value & location"

06/09/2016

Excellent option for downtown Montreal. Basic but attractive, clean, affordable and conveniently located. Within easy walking distance of the Montreal Museum of Fine Art and Crescent Street bars and restaurants.

"Just an Average stay"

3
05/09/2016

The location is good to access the main downtown core for shopping and food. If you request an inner room there is little to no street noise. There is a fire hall right next door so you do hear them leave the hall during calls. The rooms need minor repairs and are quite small. No parking on site and you need to pay an additional $30.00 down the street and walk back up to the hotel. Chez Cora is attached to the hotel and provides a really good breakfast for under $6.00. We had trouble using our points and ended up having to pay for the night even though we had ample points to use. This was extremely disappointing and I still do not have a resolution, be forewarned you need to be sure your points are applied before 4PM or you are stuck paying. We tried to contact BW Rewards upon arrival at 1 PM and by the time we spoke with someone it was too late....super disappointing! No pool, fitness centre and hair salon on site. Internet was slow. Previous guests Kleenex left in our shower when we arrived.

"Would stay here again."

5
03/09/2016

Located in the heart of downtown, with Coras for breakfast and Addies for lunch or supper -- without having to leave the building. Friendly staff, clean room. Would recommend this to family and friends.

"AIN'T NO PLUS HERE ??????"

1
31/08/2016

Recently I have become very impressed with Best Western Plus. Good value and upgraded rooms. Well... This hotel has had a face lift. Paint..... The bedding and bathrooms are good. However, my husband found that the click flooring moved about and was loose. GAPS! Mercifully, it was the construction holiday.. Otherwise it would have been construction noise... They are building condos right across the street . That won't end soon. OMG!! The check-in... Took over an hour!! Could you come back. I am sorry.. People were in the elevator complaining about the check-in, the parking fees, their air conditioning and the quality of the hotel. OMG x 2 .. Don't use the indoor parking. If it is better than the outdoor parking that must be something as the indoor parking is currently a cement dust filled, dirty garage where they are currently using jack hammers to remove the floor. You can see straight down. They do not warn you about this!! It isn't safe and there isn't an elevator... Give this a skip! Remember I am really liking Best Western Plus... This one does not represent that brand well. I feel sorry for the staff..,and I don't think that they have enough cleaners.. Otherwise, why aren't their rooms ready on time? Ohh.. Strip club near by... Yeah..

"The worst hotel ever- stay away"

1
29/08/2016

We booked this hotel last week. Today we just checked in. Two hours before check in while we are on the bus I received a call that my card was not properly registered and the receptionist demanded that I provide her with my credit card information in the busy bus srounded with people. I said I am not comfortable. She started yelling at me then hung up. Few minutes later director of operations called and I explained the situation to him. I emailed him my credit card information since he threatened to cancel the reservation. After arriving at the hotel we realized that it's not worth $260 a night. The quality of hotel is terrible. Let's just say that motels has better quality of bedding, furniture, bathroom and guess what? It says that they have room service but no one wants to help you as there is no menu in the room. False advertisement, crappy service. Please do yourself a favour and never stay here. Thank you.

"Fair"

3
29/08/2016

Good location. But room was really small for 2 people and our luggage. Parking was inconvenient (one block away, very tight, extra cost and took long to get out because you have to back up every time you meet another car). Staff was nice. Bathroom was new and nicely done. I found it expensive for what I got.

"Small rooms and parking issues"

3
28/08/2016

Hotel is in a good location in the downtown area but a ways from Old Montreal a $ 12 Uber ride. Very close to shopping and restaurants the hotel parking is $ 30 a night you may want to look around for a better rate. The rooms are good value but SMALL if you just want a place to sleep this may work

"Great location !"

4
25/08/2016

Great location ! Very close on foot to Bell center. Great restaurants and shops at proximity (St-Catherine), No carpets in the room. It was very clean and the staff was kind. My only complain is the elevator, they're very small !

"Value for money"

4
25/08/2016

On arrival the guy on the reception was not very welcoming just booked us in, passed us our card then walked away to carry on with something else, however this ignorance did not continue, all the other reception staff we dealt with through out our stay was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel room was small but very clean, bathroom/shower spotless, cleaned and fresh towels daily. The bed was so comfy, again fresh sheets daily. The hotel is in a great location central to all shops, underground, tour busses etc. There is a breakfast/lunch place located in the hotel where you can get a huge breakfast for a small price. Overall for the price and location I would not hesitate to stay here again.

"Great room and perfect location!"

5
24/08/2016

Stayed here on a long weekend and it was great. The room was very large and clean. The location was right downtown and walking distance everywhere with the subway a block away, plus Cora's restaurant was downstairs. I would definitely recommend and stay in this hotel again.

"Great!"

4
24/08/2016

Great place. Simple, clean and an excellent location in Montreal. Nothing fancy about this hotel but it was very clean and fresh and convenient. Even parking at an outside lot for a fee was expected and went quite smoothly. Would definitely stay again in the future.

"Great location"

4
23/08/2016

We have stayed at this hotel in the past and like the location close to downtown Montreal. Carpets have been removed from the rooms, making them much cleaner and fresher. Attached to the building is a great breakfast restaurant - Chez Cora. The staff at the front desk are also helpful and friendly. Parking in the lot adjacent us outside, but close.

"Great inexpensive stay, awesome location!"

4
22/08/2016

This hotel has a great location and awesome rates. Located right in the heart of the city, near the clubs, shopping and restaurants. Easily accessible via bixi bike and affordable parking nearby. Rooms are rather small and the views from some of the rooms is another building or parking but if you don't plan on spending much time in your room and our in the city, this is a great choice. I stayed twice and didn't have any complaints.

"Poor value for money"

2
21/08/2016

Great location, right in a prime spot of downtown within walking distance of many destinations. We got a couple rooms for my bachelor party. We didn't realize until we got there, but they were the smallest, most spartan rooms I've ever seen in a hotel. Claustrophobic even. To say this is a no frills hotel is an understatement. The AC was extremely weak in one of the rooms. No amenities at all. Spend just a little more and stay at a better hotel. I will never book a room at a Best Western again.

"Dinner at Addies"

3
18/08/2016

We went for dinner at Addies prior to the Celine Dion concert. It was near the bell center...we had Flat pizza with arugula and the smoke meat poutine...Both were really good but we could not finish both due to being rushed to attend concert...we will be back. Service was really nice and place was cute

"OK STAY"

4
18/08/2016

One night stay, reviews in trip advisor prepared me for the deficiencies that seem to be this hotel's standard. Slow hot water delivery in AM and noisy A/C unit. No parking and nor breakfast. Great staff, good mattress and an excellent location for attending events at the Bell Center or visiting downtown Montreal.

"Great hotel and staff."

5
17/08/2016

Our family stayed at this best western in downtown Quebec. It is very close to a lot of great places to eat and places to see. The staff went out of there way to make sure we got to every location on time and as inexpensive as possible. The only downside to the hotel is the lack of parking. But they work with a lot directly behind the hotel. It is an additional charge. But it is a very nice and clean hotel.

"Montreal in Summer"

4
16/08/2016

The hotel was clean and well-located. The front desk staff were helpful and personable. However, the option to include the breakfast does not apply if you are using any other discount (AAA, etc.) The breakfast at the hotel was good, albeit expensive $$$.

"Europa was pleasant surprise in a great city!"

5
12/08/2016

The hotel was clean and we enjoyed the jacuzzi in our bathroom after doing a lot of sightseeing and walking! The staff was friendly and helped up in an efficient manner. Had some doubts staying at a downtown hotel in Montreal, but the Europa was great and we enjoyed our stay. The price rate for the room was good as well. Just wish that they offered at least a free continental breakfast like the other BWPlus hotels.

"Great Price"

4
11/08/2016

While the room was small, it was immaculate and the bed was quite comfortable. It had a Cora's on site for great breakfasts and cost was minimal. It also had a restaurant and bar on the second level where the food was tasty. It had a small gym on top floor for those who don't get enough walking in.

"Nice hotel."

4
10/08/2016

We are on the 6th floor ...same floor as the exercise room. Lobby is nice.Front desk staff was friendly. Our room was clean, cool. Flooring is laminate, not carpeting which is so much better than a grubby carpet. bathroom is large. great shower stall. Nice lil store in lobby. Great prices for downtown Montreal.

NGlucksman, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your stay in Montreal. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future!

"Amazing staff"

5
08/08/2016

After a fiasco with our previous accommodations, we showed up at the Best Wester Europa a little desperate. The front desk manager was amazing and understanding, allowed us to check in early so we could get over the negativity in our holiday. The room was a great size for us, and the bed was amazingly comfy. We will definitely stay here next time!

"Central and clean"

4
07/08/2016

This hotel in central and walking distance to the Bell Centre. The only issue was they did not inform us where to park or how much it would cost. It was behind the hotel at $30.00 per day. We had to leave our car keys with the lot.

"Comfy bed, good location, great breakfast"

4
06/08/2016

We selected the Best Western Plus Hotel Europa because of its location and price and for that we were not disappointed. The bed is also extremely comfy which for 50+ is great. There is a Cora's in the building where you can get breakfast before 8am for under $6 - also a bonus. But the workout room is small and there isn't a pool so it is not a hotel to "hang out" in. But with the location close to St. Catherin Shopping an restaurants, a BIXI bike rental just outside the door, a few blocks from Mont Royal and a 20 minute walk from Old Montreal it is a great affordable place to stay and experience Montreal.

"First trip to Montreal "

4
04/08/2016

Very nice hotel, clean, easy to get to from the Via station. The room was a good size, we were by the elevator on the 5th floor (501) which I was concerned about, but we only heard people a couple times. Just no street view from this room, but we weren't concerned about it. Comfortable beds. Weird floor in the tub, was soft, like the bathmat was built into it, I'd never seen that before and not sure that I liked it. The restaurant, Addie's, is very good and it is very convenient having Cora's attached to the hotel. Great location for exploring downtown and close to underground shopping entrances and transportation to the rest of Montreal. Elevators are somewhat slow when many are coming and going, they are quite small. Exercise room is well equipped but was very hot, didn't seem to have ac running. 1 treadmill was not working during our stay.

"Good location"

2
03/08/2016

Good location for hotel. I was able to take the airport bus, which stops a few blocks away, to and from the airport. A lot of restaurants around. Easy to walk to all the attractions I wanted to see. Good wi-fi. The only problem was I saw 2-3 ants in my room daily, and on the last day there were several more. I also saw them in the hallway. Good location, price, room, but I have to rate this below average because of the ants!

"3 nights in Montreal"

4
02/08/2016

Drove with 2 kids in tow from Quebec city to the hotel. The 3-hour ride turned into a nearly 5-hour journey. Montreal in summer in should be called Construction Ville as all the repairs are done in summer and most of the streets are under construction ( probably more so this year as per the bus tour guide, you may enjoy the overview of city with this tour and the pass is valid for 2 days with 15 min schedule hop off and on at multiple locations and starts from the Visitor information center which is about 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel ). The directions to the hotel are not correct on the website. Several exits are closed and rerouted and this confuses the GPS . Pros: hotel staff stayed on the phone for about 40 minutes to get us safely through the maze of streets. The location is very good and easy walk to anywhere in the downtown area ( blocks are long, wear good walking shoes), close to Metro stations and plethora of restaurants and shopping.Beds are comfortable and we had a fridge in the room with 2 queen beds. Hotel has a good restaurant for breakfast and brunch at a good value. Cons: some area of the lobby is under construction. Some rooms on the 6th floor are reachable after 25 stairs after getting off the elevator. No exhaust in the bathroom ( Best western policy... causes disturbance, may consider bringing air freshener along). Bon Voyage !!

"Great hotel, nice workout room, HUGE indoor pool"

5
30/07/2016

Stayed here for 3 nights for a wedding and glad we had the wedding rate too. Had a huge indoor pool and ping pong table and arcade area that we were too busy to even enjoy. The outter edge rooms had 1-way exterior doors which was awesome for unloading and loading the car, but I didn't feel unsafe at night as there was another entry to my room. Would def stay here again.

Great staff. Beautiful room - reminded me of my room at the W Hotel in New York city. Location is ideal in the heart of the city. I was in Montreal on business and this was the second time I stayed at the Best Western. I will for sure stay here again.

Our check in went well, however when we got to our room, the door had been left open and no lights were on...pretty scary. Staff were good and checked the room, however they could not accommodate our request for a room change. This particular room was 673 and had a large deck that was shared with another room. It was sort of creepy. We spent the night there, the next night we had some trouble with aunts and so we were moved. The rest of our stay was awesome and comfortable. The location is amazing, you can walk to most attractions, shopping and food. the second room we had was much better and cleaner. It also "felt" safer. Other than our first night, it was a great place to stay and I would definitely stay there again.

This place was in a perfect location, right downtown. Everything is in walking distance (restaurants, shopping etc). There's nothing fancy about it but it was clean and comfortable, two must haves. My queen room was quite small but it met my needs and the bed was comfortable The hallways are quite narrow but it's an older building. I stayed on the second floor where the window wasn't that large, but it was fine. I wouldn't have my honeymoon here but I'd stay again if back in Montreal for any other reason.

"Before a Cruise"

23/07/2016

We booked a room here to stay over night when we going on a cruise that left from Montreal. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30pm, directly from the train station, to see if we could drop off our bags, thinking it was much too early for a check in. The woman at reception immediately said she could check to see if there was a room available for us. Surprisingly, there was, and we were able to check in immediately and freshen up. The room was over the court yard/reception area, so the window was tiny, and there was not much of a view. That is our only complaint though. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The carpeting has been replaced with laminate, which I find much preferable. The hotel is ideally located downtown, close to the Museum, shopping, the train station and restaurants/cafes. The staff are pleasant and accommodating. We were also able to arrange a late check out, to accommodate our cruise schedule. If you are looking for reasonably priced accommodations in downtown Montreal, you should consider the Best Western Europa.

Dear Karen S, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are glad you were able to be checked in without having to wait and it sounds like our staff were great as always. We hope you enjoyed your cruise and hopefully we can welcome you back next time your travels bring you to Montreal.

We stayed at the hotel July 15th and 16th while the Just for Laughs Festival was happening as well as a food venue. During this weekend every year they shut down Rue Ste. Catharine, for side walk sales. Hotel was clean, the restaurant on site was good, we had appies and drinks there twice. My husband had breakfast at Cora's which is always good. As for the location, it was excellent, Rue St. Catharines is a busy shopping street and it is 1 block away. Crescent St. which has a lot of restaurants is 7-8 minute walk and Old Montreal is only a 20 minute walk. Parking is just before the hotel $40/day for our truck, We would definitely stay here again.

What a great place to stay. Location was #1 and everything about our stay was fantastic. We had a double room and was spacious, very clean and the beds were comfy. Its on a side street so you don't get the noise from the street. Front desk was very helpful when needed and we printed off boarding passes there at a free for all use of a printer which was perfect. I would return again for sure.

best Western Plus Downtown Montreal is brilliantly located and in the centre of the city. Our room was clean and spacious and all that we could ask for. We found the staff to be professional and very friendly. There are dozens of eating options within 2 blocks of the hotel. We didn't use the restaurant in the hotel, we did try to eat there on the first night, they were very quiet but we were one of three groups left waiting for a table for 6 minutes without any staff speaking to us. Eventually an abrupt gentleman told us to " go and sit over there - pointing to a table" no menu, we waited a further 3 minutes and decided to try elsewhere. We did eat out 3 nights and checking the bills we spent $340. their loss.

My wife, 10 year old daughter and I had three nights in Montreal. I wanted to book a hotel near the train station as we were arriving from Toronto and departing to New York City. We arrived mid-afternoon from Toronto on July 1 Canada day so the city was on holiday mode and many shops were closed. From the train station, it took us about 15 minutes walking with luggage to the hotel, walking along Rue Rene Levesque. The hotel was easy to find (thanks to Google maps). When we arrived, we were surprised that the room was ready one hour before official check in and it was a great welcome. The room we got on the fourth floor was large and the king size bed looked inviting. The sofa bed was huge and comfortable too. Even with the bed out, there was still plenty of room to walk around. Service was top-notch and the internet was free and very fast. While breakfast was not included, there were so many options around. The nearest subway station was a 10 minute walk. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by this property considering the price we got. It was my wife's favorite hotel in our 2016 holiday!

The Europa is conveniently located for those arriving by train, car or airport. Located just 5 blocks from the train station and 2 blocks from the airport bus stop, it is also just 2 1/2 blocks from the metro station. There are two outstanding restaurants in the hotel with delicious food and excellent service with prices amazingly reasonably priced. The staff were welcoming and provided great guidance on getting around and offering sightseeing suggestions. I'd recommend for any type of travel.

"Decent Hotel with some Hiccups"

14/07/2016

My wife and I and infant son stayed at this hotel which was halfway between Mount Royal and Old Montreal. We found out that it's located next to several Massage Parlors and Strip Clubs within 30 seconds of the hotel (in any case, we had walked around the neighborhood quite a bit, and it was a very safe area). Not exactly ideal, but it didn't really bother us. The hotel is also in close location to quite a few nice shops and restaurants; there also are plenty of Exchange Bureaus at the Souvenir shops close by (less than a two minute walk on Rue St. Catherine) to exchange your currency. Also, best and cheapest option for breakfast close by is a Diner-like place to the right on Rue St. Catherine called Mister Steer and a late-night grocery store (Vietnamese) on Rue Stanley (a 5 minute walk away) It appears that this hotel has been upgraded somewhat recently too. Our room and the other room we stayed in had all new floors (looks just like pictures on site), good TVs, WiFi was fast despite previous reviews that I saw, Bed was pretty comfortable, and seemed pretty clean. We started our stay in a room that was facing a Construction site (a high rise luxury apartment building is being built) probably for the next 2 years seeing their current progress. We used the AC and started smelling the same smell that we smelled in the parking garage that we were parked at the next street over, the smell of concrete dust. The smell was strong and we could actually taste it in our mouths. We reported this to the front desk, and since they did not have any rooms to switch us to, they said they could do so the following day, which they kept their promise, and they moved us to a larger room on the 4th floor facing the other direction; the initial room on the 5th floor was quite small and the bathroom was very narrow. I hit my knee getting undressed on the sink since there was not much room and getting in the shower was pretty hard. It appears that there is quite a variance in room sizes; so make sure if you are taller, or larger in size to make sure you secure a big enough room to accommodate your dimensions. The only thing is that one night, we came back from dinner, and we witnessed two very attractive girls with lots of tattoos going to someone's room (they were obviously from an escort service or local strip club) They were accompanied by a large black man that had a SECURITY shirt on that then guarded the room (wow, very discrete). I went in the hallway about 20 minutes later to go down to the lobby, and I could hear quite a bit of noise coming from that area with the security guard pacing around. I guess the hotel doesn't mind this kind of activity. I would have hated to be in the room next to them. In any case, the hotel was pretty clean, but it had an odd odor to it. I don't know if its the cleaner they use or if they wash each room with dirty water, but even each of the floors smelled funny (it wasn't terrible, but I would think from the nice decor that the smell would be better). They should really use some sort of fresher scent cleaner or something to freshen the carpets. The entryway elevator smelled slightly of old piss or maple syrup ironically. It was a good hotel despite all of this, and it was a pretty decent price for the location, but I hope that they can make changes to avoid the same issues with other customers.

"Great location and wonderful staff ..."

07/07/2016

The location of ths hotel is great, directly on the main streets and near the Festival quarter and a 30 min pleasant walk from the old port area. It doesn't really have many public rooms, lounges etc but has large guest rooms, an excellent bar/restaurant and - probably more importantly - a great breakfast diner with terific food at really reasonable prices served by wonderful, smiley, friendly staff. Hotel doesn't have its own car park but uses a secure, multi-level one some 200 yards away and gives you a ticket for it so you pay the hotel. Only isssue we had was that the room had cheap and badly fitting roller blind and no curtains on window which meant the sleep quality due to light and noise pollution was poor - actually really annoying and if not changed would stop me recommening this hotel. But I am asured by a manager that there is a planned upgrade for these and if so then great.

Hotel Europa is very well situated and reasonably price hotel in downtown Montreal. Very close to St. Catherine, Rene Levesque and Sherbrooks Streets.Metro stops within five minutes of the hotel. Chez Cora restaurant connected to hotel simply one of Montreal's best breakfast places. Clean, nice size and economical can't go wrong with Hotel Europa..

Small, clean updated rooms. Queen bed seemed smaller than most queen beds. Comfortable. No parking but parking available within a block for around $20.00. Walking distance to many restaurants. Easy to get around. Nice front desk staff. Small elevators.

"Very Good Price and Comfort in Downtown Montreal"

02/07/2016

Large Clean Room directly in downtown Montreal. Building is older but your room gets extra space. A/C is efficient but a little noisy. You can find overnight parking on the street, and several garage lots nearby. Easy access to museum, shopping, subway station. Good restaurant (CORA) for breakfast, accessible from lobby. Very good ratio price/quality.

"A "nice" hotel to stay in while in Montreal Que."

28/06/2016

This is a very good, "nice" hotel to stay in. It is very close to the main shopping street St. Catherine Street and within walking distance of the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. "Old Montreal" is a bit of a distance from this hotel, but you could take the subway. The price is good. The hotel has a nice restaurant. Within the hotel is a "Cora's Restaurant" which has just fabulous and reasonable, delicious breakfasts, served quickly by excellent staff.

"over-rated."

I expected more from this hotel, but it is rather ordinary. Rooms are small. There is no view, except brick wall. Old, definitely not modern hotel. It seems it would need some renovations. Good location though. Parking was across the street, in a parking lot.

"Excellent Hotel in Downtown Montreal"

4
28/06/2016

Best Western is a good and modern hotel. It is in the heart of Montreal close to some of the best shops and restaurants in town. The only problem I had was the noise coming from a construction near the Hotel.

"Economical and good location"

This hotel is close to shopping in downtown. 10 minutes walk to McGill University. The hotel did not provide breakfast and parking is extra. Room is spacious compared to value and location. We found that hotel good in location that we can shop and go back to the hotel to drop off our purchase, go again for shopping. Close to metro station as well.

"Nicely Central"

26/06/2016

We were in Montreal for two nights for a quick sight-see. We took the train from Ottawa, and this BW was only a 10 minute walk from the Via Station (exit onto Rene Levesque, go left, then turn right on Drummon. So easy and convenient). There is also another BW nearby on Sherbrooke I think. I do like Best Westerns, and this one did not disappoint. We thought the rooms were nice and comfortable, my son was pleased with the exercise room, and all the staff were great. If you are an Anglophone and want to relax to some tv however, the channel selection could be a bit better (but then this is not unusual for many chains). I did miss the "inclusive" breakfast that many Best Westerns have, but there is a Cora's restaurant in the hotel. But there are MANY other places nearby, and although Cora's is good, and since we had to buy breakfast anyway, we checked other places locally. If you just want McD's, there are several very close. There are also several Starbucks close. There are MANY other places close. One of my choices was Bagel Expressions on nearby Cote du Beaver Hall. Google map is most helpful, and you see how close you are to many attractions. Bell Centre, for instance, is less than two blocks south. I also like to walk.

"Great location, needs remodeling"

3
23/06/2016

We loved the location of this hotel. It was close to many things but the room and especially the bathroom was in need of remodeling. We had a good size room for my family of 4. We tried to use the fitness room but it wasn't much of one, 4 machines plus the weights machine. There was a 'terrace' advertised but we couldn't really find it. What we found was the front of the fitness area and there was no patio furniture indicating it was a terrace. The A/C was used b/c it was hot but it was old and very noisy. The bathroom had a toilet that leaked.

"Good location. Nothing special but good value for the cost."

3
21/06/2016

Visiting Montreal I was stymied by how pricey hotels could be. It seems the closer you are to the Old Town - the heftier the price tag. I chose to stay at the Best Western Plus because while it is a chain, I have had fairly good experiences over the years. This one, was okay. Nothing particularly special or unique about it. The very definition of a 3 out of 5 hotel. The restaurant next door was another chain, Cora, but they had a decent breakfast. My room looked nice, although maybe not as clean as I would have liked. (I saw some stray hairs in the bathroom!) However, all that being said, I was centrally located enough that I could easily walk to a number of attractions, and the train station is close by as well which was very convenient. And it was fairly good value for the money, so as long as you aren't expecting anything special - it'll do.

"Great Place for Business Stay"

4
20/06/2016

Had a great but short overnight stay at this hotel. My assistant picked it out for me. It was a great value for a last minute business trip, in the heart of downtown Montreal. No complaints. The room was big with a very comfortable king size bed plus a queen size sofa bed(I didn't need it but it was great that it was included in my room for such a great cost). I would definite use this hotel again.

"Close to Fine Art Museum and Old Montreal"

4
20/06/2016

Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown - Hotel Europa is in close proximity to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, and Old Montreal. Crescent Street is also close by, and offers a wide variety of trendy restaurants. The attached restaurant, Cora and Bistro Bar Addies are both a good value and quite good. Overall the hotel and room is nicely decorated, clean, and can offer good views. I recommend this hotel is you want to stay near a variety of retail shops, art museums, and good food.

"great location"

19/06/2016

great location , fair price, clean, friendly professional staff , off site parking walking distance to museums, old town, restaurants , shopping . easy access to major highways, close to M agill university, during the week the city gets quiet . hotel by the metro station.

"Convenient location"

4
18/06/2016

This hotel is extremely conveniently located in downtown Montreal. It's near the subways and bus routes as well as all the shopping of St. Catharine street. The check-in went very smoothly and the staff were friendly and fluent in English. The room itself was nice. I especially liked the huge bathtub. What I didn't like was the air conditioning unit. It worked just fine and was temperature controllable. However, it was very loud. There was a constant noise and an additional noise when it kicked into high gear. If you are a light sleeper, I would not recommend this hotel for that reason. Or, I would recommend bringing earplugs!

"Clean room, good food, but very poor customer service"

2
15/06/2016

I stayed there while attending a conference last night (and unfortunately tonight). A couple of things: The bad: I could only get cold water in my room. I talked to customer service and they said they would "look into it", but when i got back from the conference there was no message left for me. I thought I would try to have shower this evening, to avoid the busy time for hot water production (which is the am), and still only got cold water. I am more than annoyed with the customer service, especially since I paid more than I should have for the room here. Also, would it kill the Best Western to have milk/cream that a guest can use/ask for with their coffee maker in the morning (they already provide a fridge...)? that powder stuff makes any coffee taste like poop. The good: the independently owned restaurant, Adidos served good food, at a decent price. I had the homemade vegetarian ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta, in a rosee sauce with mushrooms (really delicious - $13 dollars, wine was $6). Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow (however, it was friendly) despite the fact that there were not many people inside.

"It was ok"

3
15/06/2016

First, I'll state that I love the convenience of having a breakfast/brunch restaurant right off the lobby, so you don't have to go searching for a place to get your morning grub. Also, I love the decor in the room & the staff (excluding front desk receptionist) were very approachable and friendly. Cons: I really hated the size of the room, for the price paid ($2160 for a week, 1 room with 2 double beds) I feel like we should have had some space in the room. It was super tight, def not big enough to comfortably fit 4 adults. There is a fridge in the room, but it was more of a 'cooler' but even the 'cooler' barely kept our beverages that we purchased outside cool. Will I stay here again: Probably not, but if I can't find anything else.. it will do.

"Stayed during F1 race weekend"

14/06/2016

2
12/06/2016

The "special rate" was a lot worst than the public garages, and it is not based on 24 hours, but on segments of the day. So it will cost you more than the public garage (that is based on when you arrived) if you do not remove your car by noon. Place is getting a little run down. TV service would loose the signal, but I was not there to watch TV. Picture would break up now and then, but the worst was the audio would loose the signal and there would be no sound for minutes at a time. A little aggravating when watching the news.

"Stay at Best Western, Montreal"

11/06/2016

I arrived at the Hotel early and was told that there were no rooms available. I confirmed with the Receptionist that I would be returning later and left my luggage in the Storage Room. I returned at 12 midnight to be told that the evening supervisor had cancelled my Reservation. I was left stranded in the middle of the night with an offer for a non-discounted stay somewhere else. I was not even offered free transportation to this other hotel, considering that the cancellation was done without a notification to me. I am not familiar with the City and felt that it was unsafe to be traveling in a strange country in the middle of night. Therefore, I declined their offer to stay at another hotel. I was very disappointed with the service and attitude of the staff which I found to be heartless. They were not very accommodating and that is something I believe should go hand in hand with good customer service. Therefore, I believe that arrangements should be made for the staff to be groomed in courtesy and customer service!

"Clean, Good Location"

4
11/06/2016

Right in the heart of downtown just a few minutes walk from basically everything. The staff was friendly and the rooms clean. The only problem was parking. They do not have their own lots and the going rate in the area is about $30 a day.

"Reservation was cancelled because staff could not get in touch with me whilst mid-Atlantic"

09/06/2016

Was very disappointed to find reservation was cancelled, after travelling for 24 hours to get to Montreal. Receptionist was exceptionally rude and told me that I was "lucky" that she could find me another room. Apart from above experience... the hotel was ok. No issues with the room or the facilities. The location is great.

This hotel is steps up away from the Rue Sainte Catherine street, a great walking street and near the Eaton Centre shopping center. It's also two blocks from Sainte Crescent, which has a lot of sidewalk cafes and it's great for people watching. 30/05/2016

As I sit in this hotel room, it reminds me of a European style room... Old ... Dirty... And small. At least there is no shared bathrooms. The lobby is nice but that's about it. They have "redone" the rooms but throwing down laminate and hanging a TV on the wall is not redone to me. Also with laminated flooring you have to actually clean the rooms fully as to get the hair and debris from past guests out. I would suggest a different hotel as there are many on the same block and for a better price.

25/05/2016

Rooms very clean and comfortable. Frequent problem with hot water, most days had to wait 10 minutes for hot water to shower. One afternoon, there was no hot water at all! Workers renovating the floor was smoking, smoke came into our room on other end of hotel. Construction noise from parking lot across street was loud and early in morning. We were woken up every day at 6am! Our room rate changed (increased) and was charged but not told or explained by staff.

I usually have a good experience at Best Western but this time there was loud talking in the hallway most of the night and at 6am our smoke detector started to beep. Front desk sent a custodian to look at it but he saw it was on a high ceiling and left . He didn't return so I guess he assumed the noise wouldn't be a bother

"Enjoyable stay in Downtown Montreal"

24/05/2016

The hotel was in a convenient location for visiting family and also walking around the downtown area. It was easy to locate the city's tourist center. I use the Hop on Hop Off tourist bus from Greyland on day to see the city sites. The 2 restaurants located in the the hotel including Cora's were convenient and both offered a varied menu and good service. This made things easy for an individual travelling on solo.

"Genuine Friendly Helpful Staff + Excellent Location !!!"

23/05/2016

Stayed here for a week early May 2016. Check in was a breeze. Service from staff was FIVE STAR. They really care & try their best to ensure you are happy. The room had a mini fridge, free coffee/tea each day to go with the in-room coffee maker. The free wifi was way faster than expected & smooth. The location is super close to Saint Catherine Street for eating & shopping. Peel Metro Station is just a few minutes walk away. Given that other hotels in this location were charging more than double, Best Western is the most awesome deal you can find. The room was clean, there's a gym on the top 6 floor. Lobby has desktop computer & printer free for you to use. There's also a convenience store right at the lobby if you need to buy medication, candy, chips, pop, etc. Cora is also connected to the lobby, good place for breakfast. Check out is 11am, but since our flight was in the evening, the hotel staff was helpful in letting us check out couple hours late, but keep in mind it's based on their room availability & you can only arrange this the morning of check out day, not prior. Taxi to and from the airport was 20 min. What stood out for this hotel is the fact that they are not pretentious, all staff are down to earth & easy to talk to. I am so glad I did not pick another place to stay, however, the heater/fan in the room is a bit noisy, other than that it was an awesome experience.

"Perfect location"

Great location just off Rue St Cathérine, where all the major stores are. Hotel staff is very helpfull and the rooms are spacious and clean. On site breakfast at Cora's is almost more than you can eat.

"Clean, affordable and convenient business hotel"

23/05/2016

This hotel provided me with a good and spacious room, for three nights. I had no problems, except a little issue with strength and stability of the wi-fi signal, which in any case worked well (simply I lost without noticing the connection with my phone, entering in international data roaming). Conveniently located near airport bus stops and close to shops, restaurants.

"No hot water in the shower during May 2016"

1
21/05/2016

Do not stay at this hotel if you expect a hot shower. Management has decided to control the amount of hot water proved to the guest. I complained twice and it was told that when 2 many people take showers @ one time the water runs out. Water is warm at best so if you expect a hot shower do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

"Great Hotel In Montreal"

Convenient location to Bell Centre and shopping on St. Catherine's Street. The rooms were clean and the staff did a great job making us feel at home. We thought this was a great place and close to all the action.

"Great location"

This was a great location right off of St. Catherine's Street. Convenient location to shopping and Bell Centre. Clean room and friendly staff. Had issues with wifi connection constantly, maybe because we were at end of hall on top floor.

"Gals' Weekend Getaway"

5
18/05/2016

I booked this hotel for six gals who wanted to do what we could for the economy in the weekend. It is perfectly situated. Ten minutes walk from the train station. One block from the Bell Centre. One block from St Catherine and shopping. SAQ just around the corner. An excellent Italian restaurant almost next door (La Medusa), a terrific Bistro in a the hotel where we had one lunch, Reuben's Smoked Meat just minutes away walking and a very good breakfast at the iconic Cora's downstairs. The beds were so comfy and the linens so smooth and lovely. Even the queen sized pull out couch was pleasant. Rooms are clean. Reception friendly.

"Friendly Hotel"

15/05/2016

The hotel had a very friendly and helpful staff. We have stayed there before. The rest of Montreal is NOT handicap accessible. Stores had stairs either going up or down, or had a stoop that my scooter could not go over.

"Good experience !"

09/05/2016

A few nights in thi Europa Best Western, so close to everything in downtown Montreal. Very friendly staff Clean and confy room Shower very clean, hot water. Bed was awesome Wifi fantastic fast no problem My room was in 6th floor so very quite. I hate carpet so big plus because no carpet in my room. Small gym but at least you have one! If you need parking 20$ at night not bad for downtown! I'll go back anytime!

"A terrible experience"

01/05/2016

WIFI almost did not work in my room. I had to go to the lobby to get the signal. A construction site is beside the hotel. They worked from 6 am. Soundproof of the windows is very poor. The heating unit is very noisy. Couldn't sleep well.

"One Night"

01/05/2016

Spent one night in this hotel, it was a pleasurable experience, from check in to leaving at 5am next morning. Spent a couple hours in the lounge having dinner and enjoying the atmosphere. Was a very nice way to relax after a long days drive. Room was nice, not tired looking at all. Only draw back was finding socks and underwear in the drawer from a previous guest. I had the salmon for dinner, not the best I ever had but never the less a good meal. Two thumbs up in my view

NGlucksman, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review
Dear Blackie6_10, Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us while in Montreal. I am disappointed to hear that belongings were found in the room after our staff had cleaned and we are definitely following up on the issue. I can assure you that cleanliness of our guest rooms is one of our top priorities and this is definitely not up to our standard. I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back the next time you are in Montreal.

Very handy location. Nice bed and bedroom. Nice staff (especially the maids and staff at Cora restaurant). But in terms of environmental concern this would deserve a LOT of work... it is time to move on!

26/04/2016

My family and I arrived at the hotel early that morning, although the check-in was for 4pm, the staff offered to check us in at noon. The train ride into Montreal was long and we barely slept. We were all happy that they were able to let us in our room sooner. I strongly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel

"It served a purpose..."

25/04/2016

We just needed a decent place to sleep since we didn't spend much time at the hotel. It was well priced for the location, close to some great food and shopping on St Catherine, easy to hop on the highway. Parking in the lot across the street that was under construction was inconvenient but worked ok. Our room was quite noisy, right beside the maid's closet, and I think above the kitchen as we had some interesting food smells wafting in from somewhere. Our TV remote was disgustingly filthy, made us question what else hadn't been cleaned... But we did get fesh towels and toiletries each day. Staff was pleasant. Overall it was ok for what we wanted and paid.

NGlucksman, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review
Dear Lisa_heil79, I do apologize about the cleanliness issues mentioned in your review, I can assure you that this is not the standard that we hold for our guests and your comments have been shared with our staff. Good location at a reasonable price. The arrangement with the parking garage across the street where you can come and go for 24 hours is a plus. Montreal is a walking city but you do need the car when you go away from downtown.

Walked here from the trainstation. Early checkin no problem. Room ok, bed comfortable. Breakfast had what I needed. Location perfect. Didn't use any of the facilities of the hotel. Wifi slow as usual.

"VERY CONVENIENT LOCATION"

22/04/2016

Excellent service. Close to downtown concert venue and restaurants. Only 2 blocks away from the Bell Center. A five minute walk and we were there. Great value compared to other hotels in the same area that were almost twice the price. Would definitely use again on future trips to Montreal.

I stayed two Nights here. The Hotel located very Central only one minute by foot away from Shopping Street in Montreal! The Size of Room was ok, only downsize was the view at a Wall! Then Interieur was new and bed was really comftable, the Flat Screen was really big in this Room. This Hotel Room Offers enough free electric plugs! The chair did not work and I got within Short Time a new one! Bathroom was big. The Hotel Staff was really Supportive and help with all Question and Try To find propper solutions compaire To the generell Customer Support Of best Western - they are worst in gives Solution by Email ! "Rangers weekend"

4
17/04/2016

Stayed here for a NY Rangers weekend. First off, of course we beat the Habs, 5-2. Proximity to the Centre Bell can't be beat, literally turn right out of the hotel and make a bee line for the arena. Staff were nice and very helpful, stored my frozen croissants from Premiere Moisson for the trip home Sunday. The room I selected (see pic) was basic and small but I knew what I reserved, Expedia listed the room as 'Standard Room, 1 Queen Bed, Non Smoking (Small Room)'. Hotel is a little dated but I don't require a ritzy hotel as I'm there only to crash. Room had all the usual amenities including coffee & tea. Climate control decent, albeit a little noisy but not enough lose sleep. Very close to the retail Rue St Catherine and the activity Rue Crescent have to offer. Don't miss breakfast at Cora's right there in the hotel: crepes, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, eggs Benedict (sorry, Eggs Ben et Dictine when in 'Ke-Bec') and of course, the fresh fruit. For Centre Bell events, it's tough to beat this place. Oh, and it had some of the best rates in town when I was there in late March 2016. If I need to stay in this area again, I'll no doubt be right back here.

"Great location"

15/04/2016

Had stayed there a few years ago and decided to go back again on this trip. We had limited luggage so we walked from the train station. (only a few blocks away) The hotel is on Drummond between René Lesvèque and Ste Catherine, right in the heart of downtown Montréal. There is also a metro station nearby (Peel Street). We were not disappointed. The hotel was as we remembered it from our last time there. The front desk staff are friendly. The room (on the smaller side) but clean, well appointed and quiet. The bed is very comfortable. High level of quality/price.

"Reception"

3
11/04/2016

The location of the Hotel is excellent, it is a valuable choice in terms of price and location. The room size is okay not as small as some other people had reviewed. I won't expect everything is excellent, I know how much I paid for. However, the services I got will have room to improve, in particular, the non-welcome communication I got when checked in, lack of basic info I need, for example, parking info nearby, restaurants or local interest... I will only recommend this Hotel to people who is very price sensitive.

"80 out of 100"

06/04/2016

We had a queen size bed room. The room has pretty much everything we need. Hair dryer, iron, tv n wifi. They setup a membership for us for early check in. The location is giving us the convenience is an advance. It takes us around 8 mins to metro, and there r quite a lot of options for dining around. The only down side of this hotel is you could hear your neighbors closing their doors. Other than that. Thumb up for it.

"Exceeds my modest expectations"

3
06/04/2016

Location, location, location. Easy walk from the train stations or the subway. There's no parking; staff offers suggestions for neighboring parking lots/parking garages (at $C30/day) with the proviso, the lots may be full. Rooms are small but clean. No hot water for shower, 2 mornings in a row; there was hot water at the bathroom sink. (Probably related to the age of the building.) But the location is unbeatable....it's Montreal and you won't be spending much time in your room.

"Good hotel, but watch out for rooms ending in -10"

4
05/04/2016

Our overall experience here was good, but don't get a room that ends in 10 (410, 510, etc). They are odd T shaped rooms that are very dark (only one small window) and the TV is nowhere near the beds. Also, parking in a garage on the next street over is a quite a bit cheaper (still arranged through the hotel), and is still very close.

NGlucksman, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa, responded to this review

"Not recommended"

1
30/03/2016

We were going to stay there for 5 nights but we left after the first night!! The front desk staff was not welcoming at all. We asked about the construction and if it was noisy to be on that side of the building and the staff said:" No one has ever complained! There is no noise!" We had a terrible night. Noisy old air conditioner in the room kept turning on and off every 10 minutes all night. At 5:45 am the construction machines and workers started working (on a weekend) and we were not able to stay in the room and stand the noise! We did not even stay for the breakfast and at 8:00 we were checked out! The room was too small. The bathroom was so small and compact that just a tiny slim person would be able to move around there. The bathroom also needs renovation.

"Great Location, terrible parking"

3
29/03/2016

I stayed here recently with my fiancé on a last minute get away from New York. The location of this hotel is its best feature. It's close to so many great restaurants, close to several entrances to the underground and close to the metro as well. We stayed one night in a king room with city views. Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was clean for the most part, those there was long brown hair in the tub that the housekeeper couldn't have missed. There was also a sheet from a lint roller stuck on the floor by the toilet. Weird that the housekeeper missed that too. This place has WORST parking though. Located directly across the street is a lot you can park in. The middle eastern guy who runs the lot tried to rip us off, telling us we had to pay him cash (the front desk told me I could charge it to the room) so after arguing with him for a minute I went to the hotel and got a slip that we needed to get the discounted parking the hotel offers. And THEN as we were leaving the next morning we watched the lot operator back someone's very nice Audi into another car. And he just parked it up in a different spot like its no big deal. There was a large scrape on the bumper. Overall I would likely stay here again. But most definitely would park in the garage rather than the more convenient lot.

"Great family trip"

29/03/2016

Great service, great staff, very clean and affordable hotel ! Situated in a great location, close to everyhting downtown. Not too noisy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was able to have access to my room earlier thanks to the Best Western Card and had a late check out also.

"Business in Montreal"

3
29/03/2016

I chose this hotel for location, which is great. I asked not to have the sheets changed on my bed during my stay. Which weren't but the coffee was not restocked or grounds emptied. There was only one partial roll of TP in the bathroom had to ask for more. I had a bloody nose my first night and blood got on the shower curtain. The shower curtain was not changed for my whole stay.

"A+"

5
28/03/2016

If I'm ever in Montreal again, it's almost a guarantee I'll be staying here. Other than the restaurant this hotel was fantastic. Many other fantastic food options within walking distance make up for the hotel. Staff was very helpful when my check in plans got changed last minute. A+

"Small "bedroom" but perfect for the size"

4
24/03/2016

I was shocked when I walked into my room and had to stop immediately in my step before I reached the bed. The room was small like the bedroom of a home except it had a bathroom attached to it. I soon realized that it had everything I needed. A closet, desk, large mirror, TV, queen size bed, chair, space to spread my things out and it was clean ( I always check the bed sheets in detail). There was enough space for myself as a single traveler but I'm not sure if there would be enough space with another person if I was planning an extended stay. There are lots of great restaurants nearby with a Cora's attached to the same lobby. I would stay here again!

"Good cost-benefit"

3
21/03/2016

The hotel is very well-located and has a good cost/benefit; Room is small but Ok for a business trip. Hot water from shower was not good. Breakfast is OK but not offered on self-service basis, but a la carte.

18/03/2016

I stayed here 10 years ago then returned this year - experience was still great. The location is very convenient for getting around downtown by foot. Easy access to the Metro to grab the subway to further out spots. Room was cosy (small) but perfectly fine for travellers who are more concerned with seeing things than with spending time in their hotel room.

We stay here everytime we are in Montreal. Its a great location within walking distance of St. Catherines and the Bell Centre. And the price is great. 12/03/2016

Great place to stay if you are going to a Habs game at the Bell Centre. Only a two minute walk to the Bell Centre. Arrived from Ontario on Via train at Central Station. About a ten minute walk to Best Western. Room was small but quite adequate for an overnight stay. Room was clean. Comfy bed. Staff were great on check in and checkout. Cora's is a great place for breakfast.

"Best western europa "

11/03/2016

We stayed at the best western europa for 2 nights in march. We had an executive suite. Check in was quick. Front desk is friendly. In our room long hairs were found on the floor in the bathroom. You could tell the floor hasn't been vaccumed in awhile since you could see dust bunnies. Dust was found on the night tables. I don't have high expectations but would I do like having a clean room. The parking for the hotel is across the street. Had to pay $80 for 2 nights. Bad for the hotel business since the attendant wasn't friendly not a thank you when being paid. Great location to the bell centre and outlets. Will stay elsewhere next time I go to montreal.

28/02/2016

We had a nice surprise upon check in by being upgraded to the king sofa room. The ladies checking us in were very friendly and liked to laugh as we were joking around with them. The extra walk up the curved flight of stairs was worth it as the spacious room was lovely. It would be really great in the summer as it has a large outdoor deck attached. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We were unfortunately woken by inconsiderate guests at 3-4 am with slamming of doors and loud voices in the hallway. The attached breakfast restaurant Coras serves a delicious breakfast and were very helpful when we noted we had a train to catch. Overall pleasant experience as it was close to shopping and the Bell centre for the hockey game.

"Good location, ok hotel"

27/02/2016

Stopped in through the city. Hotel is located right in the heart of shopping on St. Catherines which is good. But hotel did not offer parking. Parking is in a shady parking lot across the street and was expensive. Room that I had was nice and big but could use an update. The bed was lumpy, bathtub looked like it was painted and cracking, dirty in the corners of the bathroom. Restaurant downstairs was very affordable and offered good food. Only one person working the front desk. I had to wait for quite a while when I got there. . . not necessarily the best thing after a 6 hour drive. Checking out was also tedious. Got stuck waiting in line for half an hour while front desk served a couple of teenagers. Didn't even acknowledge me at all, just made me wait there.

Walked from train station, a huge perk and also close to Bell Center. I was upgraded to a really spacious room that had hardwood floors and was immaculately clean. One of the best beds I have ever slept on, great shower, huge closet and multiple hangers. Fit for longer stay. Everything was excellent except the street elevator up and down to the lobby made me nervous. Old and slow and buttons did not light up.

"Decent hotel, good price"

25/02/2016

for the price this was a conveniently located hotel in downtown. Rooms were decent, clean and recently renovated. Laminate in rooms was nice. king bed was good. No discomfort, but nothing to write home about. bathroom was clean and renovated shower was big with large glass doors. Toiletries were all provided and replenished the next day

"Great location"

We were in Montreal for one reason - hockey. We selected this hotel for his proximity to the Bell Center. Upon check in we were upgraded to a King bed. The room was clean and simple. No complaints. The washroom had a nice new walk in shower. For the price we paid I would stay here again.

"Great experience in Montreal"

24/02/2016

Stayed one night at the Europa Best Western on Drummond St. Excellent location, close to train station and to Bell Arena (3 minute walk) if you're going for a Habs hockey game. Montreal people stand out for their friendliness and staff at front desk were no exception. Room decor is fresh, bathroom a nice size, internet service, t.v., newspapers, and Cora's right there for breakfast. Reuben's smoked meat just around the corner. Construction across the street, but this did not take anything away from the experience!

"Too Noisy"

20/02/2016

Garbage pick up both nights I stayed at 3:30am & 5:30 am. It happens on a daily basis. Also hotel hasn't any parking. You have to park across the street which is ok but if you are out late you may not have a parking spot. Owner of parking lot sold half which there is construction & the actual parking lot has been cut in half so you're taking a chance coming after 9pm.

"great location. clean."

15/02/2016

Great location. It was really inexpensive. Was impressed with quality considering the price. Parking is never fun in montreal. this is the only downfall. But it is nearly all hotels in the city's downfall. Staff was very polite. Nice little bar.

"Quick Visit"

11/02/2016

The room was clean, bed was comfortable. very well located. They could have used a couple more outlets for our phone charges. The pillow were a bit stiff for my liking but all in all good hotel. Parking was in the building next door about a 5 minute walk.

"Best Western Europa is Best Hotel!"

09/02/2016

This hotel is great! Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoy the breakfast and lunch menu at Chez Cora and in the evening, Addies Restaurant offers delicious, home made meals that appeal to everyone. We always stay here when we visit Montreal and are always very satisfied.

"Good central hotel"

4
08/02/2016

Hotel is very close to major shopping, night life Crescent St) and the Bell Centre. The rooms are on the smaller side but very comfortable and very clean. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgable.

"Excellent Hotel at Great Location in Montreal"

05/02/2016

Great hotel, excellent room at great location in Montreal. Most of the shopping and entertainment spots are located in walking distance. Mount Royal is in walking distance. Bus from Airport stops quite near the hotel. Staff were helpful. While outside temperature was subzero warmth inside room was very comforting.

"A great place from which to explore downtown"

4
01/02/2016

Nice rooms, great location. Buy a 24 hour pass for $10 at the airport and catch the 747 bus. Get off on Rene Levesque Blvd. at Stanley, and you are 1/2 block from the hotel. One drawback- no coffee, not even in the lobby. The front entrance is a bit confusing. The reception is friendly though.

"Above Average Stay"

01/02/2016

Stayed here for 3 nights during the model UN college weekend, the hotel was a great value. The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance to downtown eateries and shops, which was a key factor as to why I stayed there. The room was clean with the usual amenities except for a micro. The front desk staff were very professional and checking in and out was a breeze. I plan on staying here again the next time I'm in the area.

"Great location, average hotel"

31/01/2016

The location is great, you're near the centre at walking distance. The rooms were a bit on the shabby side and could use an upgrade. The greatest asset is actually Chez Cora next to the hotel where you can have a fabulous breakfast with lots of eggs, pancakes and fruit!

"Pleasantly surprised "

4
20/01/2016

Recently stayed here on a trip to Montreal. Location of hotel was a short walk from the train station, old Montreal and st. Catherine's street. Room was comfortable and reasonably priced for the weekend. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the front desk when we checked in. Would recommend this hotel if you were attending anything at the Bell centre or wanting to be in a good location to downtown.

"Montreal Business jan 2016"

4
18/01/2016

This hotel is ideal for being close to downtown, easy to find and provides a good service that is sensibly priced, why pay extra for others that don't give much better in return, it is very clean, the staff are friendly and efficient, good place for a leisure stay and also for business downtown.

"Very nice & comfortable"

4
17/01/2016

Spent the night on Jan.15. Check in was very fast and I was greated with a smile. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated. This hotel is very well situated, within walking distance to Montreal's well known restaurants and attractions. Addies Bar/Resto next door is accessible without having to go outside and has great food. The hotel pushes outdoor parking across the street at $30/day. But if you drive up Drummond just past St - Catherines on your left, "Superior Parking" offers indoor/heated parking for $24/day.

"College visit"

13/01/2016

We were pleasantly surprised by the Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown Hotel Europa. The rooms were pretty much just exactly what the pictures showed. The flooring is not carpeted, but you knew that. Otherwise the room was well appointed and clean and the bathroom ample sized with a good shower. The nicest surprise was the friendliness of the front desk personnel. My car had a low tire pressure warning light on and the nice gentleman at the desk made a special sign for my car so the local constabulary wouldn't ticket it. He also called CAA , who came and put air in the tires. Perfect. We will definitely stay for future visits.

"very well pleased"

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel.. The first time was 3 years ago, before the rénovations. We were pleasently surprised . It was a'' Plus'' for us, cause we had already been happy with the proximity to all the shops, restaurants, theaters, all within walking distance. I recommend this hotel to everyone!

"great value"

08/01/2016

130$ for the night, stopped over before Las Vegas. Room was small but the inside was fine, clean, updated amenities that needed a little work, overall comfortable for the one night stay. Wanted to be right downtown and this spot is perfect, next to many restaurants, shopping, theater, highly recommend it.

This is a great hotel, just love this hotel. It's situated near all activities including Bell Center, underground mall, all kinds of restaurants for different tastes. It's just great. Love to go there with friends as well.

"Impressive "

02/01/2016

Happy that I chose this hotel! Conveniently located close to many restaurants and shopping as well as metro. Helpful and friendly staff. Modern room with a extremely comfy bed. Wifi connection and heater noise could be better, but room was quiet and great none the less. Wish we had time to eat at the Cora's, Addie's was nice. Great choice in Montreal.

"Poor quality hotel"

2
29/12/2015

We stayed here prior to an early flight out of the airport...our room was a few doors down from the reception...check in staff ok, however evening staff rude. We could hear music playing all night long, room was musty and dated, we had to pay extra for one extra person in the room, however had to request extra soap, shampoo and towels..this hotel really misses the mark. Only highlight is the shuttle service to the airport.

"Very good stay"

28/12/2015

Stayed during Christmas holidays (at very good rate discount). Great downtown location, very good customer service, clean room, comfortable bed ( we stayed in one king bed room). We used outdoor parking offered by hotel (opposite side of the street for $30 per night): not cheap (as everywhere in downtown) but it was convenient for us.

"Poor quality for the price"

2
28/12/2015

We stayed 3 nights visiting Montreal during Christmas time and boxing day. We paid a price for a noisy and not that clean room. It is not worth the price paid! I would not recommend it unless the price is much lower.

25/12/2015

I found this hotel to be conveniently located in Downtown Montreal near St. Catherine st and the Bell Center. I used the Y for my workout since the hotel Gym is very small. The YMCA is on the same street and that was cool for morning workouts. My room was very clean and the bed comfy. The tv channels are very poor. No HD channels. Wireless available in rooms but no wired connection.

"More than you spent"

4
24/12/2015

This clean, spacious, quiet, inexpensive and well-located hotel is always my first choice when I go to Montreal. You pay the 2-star price but get the more than 4-star service. I like Montreal because I stay in this hotel.

"Great Service and Front Desk Staff"

5
21/12/2015

The front desk staff were great, they allowed us to check in early, 11:00 even though check-in wasn't until 4:00 and they upgraded us to a king bed. We went to see an NHL game and this hotel was so close to the Bell Center it was the perfect location. The hotel is also very close to St. Catherine's street which has tons of things to do.

"The windows were not sealed good enough"

3
15/12/2015

Have been stayed 5 nights for business in Downtown Montreal. The room was cozy (enough for a business trip). There was whatever I needed for the duration of my trip. A bath tube, hair dryer, coffee maker, fridge, Cable TV with lots of french channels. I added breakfast to my room service which was great deal (Cora. I love it). The down side was that you only have three options: french toast, Cora special and Crepe. Because I can't eat pork, I had difficulty choosing the breakfast. But I strongly suggest Cora. The worst thing about the room was temperature. The window was not sealed properly so it got cold at nights and we I had to increase the temperature of the heating system and because the cold weather is heavier than warm weather (Physics :D) my legs were always cold (even with wearing socks) and my face was hot. the positive side of the hotel was the location. minutes away form the downtown core, museums, art galleries, shops, restaurants etc. Comparing the same room at Sheraton, It is worth staying for business trips than leisure.

"Great place for out of towners to stay after a Habs game"

4
15/12/2015

My brother and our sons stayed at this place mainly because of the location in relation to the train station and Bell Center (to watch our beloved Habs play). BUt inaddition to location, the hotel "front entrance" staff were fantastic - fully bilingual, friendly and completely helpful when asking for parking and directions within downtown Montreal. Cora's restaurant is located within the hotel which is convenient for a nice "get away" breakfast. This will be the first hotel I look for when returning to Montreal for any future hockey games

"Super amazing stay"

5
15/12/2015

this hotel was great for us because it was so close to the bell centre, great if your attending a game or event there. It was close to all the cool pubs and shopping districts, saq (liquor store), and within 8 minutes of food. The rooms were super clean, staff super nice and the beds were extremely comfortable. Overall amazing stay will stay here every time i come to Montreal.

"Excellent place to stay for Habs Game"

5
14/12/2015

Walking distance from Bell Centre, nice rooms, very clean! Great pre game pizza at Addie's! Service, food and beer was awesome! Cora downstairs from hotel also...you can't ask for a better place with the price they offer! $220 for two nights in queen size room.

"Great hotel and location"

5
12/12/2015

This hotel is great. It's right off st Catherine's street rooms are great they have laminet flooring instead of stinky old carpet like some and there is a Cora's restaurant in the lobby ????. The only issue with this hotel is the parking is with a third party parking company and is a block away but you still pay the hotel and no issues just a small walk.

"Nice Stay"

4
06/12/2015

Clean hotel with above average service. Close to many attractions, as well as the Underground City! One staff member seemed a little annoyed with my tourist questions, but overall service was very good.

"Convenient comfortable hotel at great price"

4
01/12/2015

I stay here whenever I have reason to be in Montreal. It is a great value and very convenient to downtown Montreal. One small problem is that they have lost the parking across the street making parking a bit less convenient.

"Hotel Stay"

4
30/11/2015

The hotel has perfect walking distance to the Bell Centre for The Weeknd concert we attended. Also, The service was great for us English speaking guests. I would recommend this hotel to others and I would enjoy another visit there soon.

"Good value, great location, costly parking..."

3
28/11/2015

The hotel room is clean, modern, but a little tight in the bathroom. The queen room comes with a nice layout and even a bar fridge that doesn't hum the whole night away. Centrally located, it is close to everything downtown. If you need a good value place to stay, this is it. Make sure you have a bunch of money for parking - since you need to park across the street. Downtown rates change - I think my weekend overnight rate was $30!

"Good value for money"

4
27/11/2015

This was my first stay at Best Western Europa Montreal. Among the various hotels I had to choose from, the price was very competitive.Had an enjoyable, hassle free stay at the hotel. The room was clean and the internet fast. The staff were professional.

"Great value and location"

4
26/11/2015

The staff were friendly and accommodating. I found the room to be clean and comfortable. The location on Drummand was right in the middle of everything I needed for 1/2 the price of most other area hotels.

"Overnight stay in Montreal"

5
23/11/2015

We live off the island of Montreal and sometimes go into town to celebrate. When we have some sort of celebration, we usually stay in a hotel. This was the first time we used this hotel and was very pleased, however, the rooms are small but very clean. In addition, it is in the centre of the city so really easy to get to the hot spots in the area.

"Good location, bare uninspired room, no breakfast, no free parking"

3
23/11/2015

As our reservation for our original accomodation was cancelled at the last minute, my husband and I needed a place to stay for our last night in Montreal close to the Hertz car rental agency in Drummond street where we had to return our car. We opted for the Best western plus Montreal Downtown, which used to be called hotel Europa. The location is very good, it's close to the Bell centre, close to public transport and walking distance to downtown. You cannot park on Drummond street. At the reception desk of the hotel you can get vouchers for outdoor parking for 20 CAD/night (taxes not included) in a parking lot across the street, or a voucher for indoor parking for 16 CAD/night (taxes not included) in the garage in Stanley street, which is at the back of the hotel block, and which is the same garage where we had to return our rented Hertz car . These voucherprices apply only to standard-size vehicles; bigger cars/mobilhomes have to consult the parking attendants on the lots and negotiate the price. The staff at the reception convinced us to take a King room instead of the standard room. The room was big, but bare and uninspired. There was a writing desk with 1 chair, an armchair, a flatscreen TV, a minifridge, a coffeemaker, and an ice bucket. The bathroom was small in comparison with the bedroom. The king bed was comfortable and we had a quiet night sleep. Breakfast was not included. Wifi was free, but downstairs near the reception there are also a few computers connected with a printer for guests who wish to print out their flighttickets. We had a reasonably good stay here, but we thought the price was a little high considering breakfast was not not included.

"Decent place"

5
16/11/2015

Booked this hotel for a last minute trip to Montreal and was not disappointed. We had 4 rooms in total and it was day and night between room types. One of us booked a "standard queen room" and it's evident why it was cheaper. The rest of us booked king rooms and there was plenty of space.

"Great Location Near Bell Centre"

5
16/11/2015

This hotel is a block and a half north of the Bell Centre, so if you want a clean, cozy place to stay if attending a Habs game, this is made for you. I stayed for one night while attending a recent game and this hotel checked off all the boxes on my list (value, location, amenities). Good choice for downtown Montreal.

"Great location!"

4
15/11/2015

This hotel is very conveniently located, it's basically on the corner of Drummond and St. Catherine. It's very close to shopping, food and the Bell centre! We chose to walk everywhere, most places we wanted to go to were no more then a 30 minute walk and the weather was great, but the metro system is very easy to use and stations are close by, so you can easily take advantage of that. Our room and bathroom were large, clean and comfortable. all the staff were very friendly and attentive. I also used the gym, there are two treadmills, an elliptical and a recumbent bike, as well as a weight system. The gym is open from 6am to 10pm... There were mornings however that when I went up the lights weren't on, but you just use your room key to enter and the light switch was right by the door so all was good. All in all, I would definitely stay here again, the price is reasonable considering the location, it was clean and the staff were lovely!

"I sure enjoyed the my stay"

5
13/11/2015

Great location, great service and great value, will most definitely stay in it again and will definitely recommend it to friends and family. The location is in the heart of Montreal and a walking distance of many attractions

"Easy to crawl back to....."

5
10/11/2015

Amzaing location. Was in town for a friends birthday and picked the hotel last minute and was not dissapointed. We were able to bar hop for 2 nights and not get bored, pleanty of variety. We even made it to a habs game right down the street. Staff were friendly and put up with us loosing our keys everytime we left..... Parking was challenging. We used a parking lot across the street and everytime we wanted to use the car it appeared blocked in so we just walked, probably safer that way. Good stay

Was a great place to stay for the money!!! Don't like paying for fancy windows and doors, just wanted a place to stay and relax. As long as it's clean I'm happy. We stayed for three nights to watch the Habs hockey games. Staff was really nice and night time was quiet!

06/11/2015

Stayed overnight on Halloween to go to Fright Fest at La Ronde. This hotel has a great location right off Ste. Catherine St and steps away from the Metro station. Hotel was pretty much what you'd expect from a Best Western, quiet and clean but nothing fancy. The highlight of my stay was the staff. Guena (I think?) and Eileen were both very helpful and friendly, the former especially welcoming and helpful with directions. Eileen remembered my name each time I saw her which was a nice touch! The room was on the small side but I knew to expect that when booking. Overall a very nice stay.

Thought we would do a couple of nights in Montreal during restaurant week and found the Europa was perfectly located in the heart of everything just down from Saint Catherine st ,everything was within walking-distance ,shops, restaurants and museums and not to far from the train station . The staff were friendly and helpful ,the room was a good size and the hotel had a decent bar and breakfast restaurant ,the only negative was the Fire Station down the street ,but we were lucky there wasn't much action the nights we stayed.

"Great value - downtown close to Train"

5
05/11/2015

Great hotel located close to many shops - walking distance from Train station. Clean, comfortable. Perfect for overnight when attending a conference nearby. The hotel lobby is basic and you can miss the entrance if you don't pay attention.

"Good location, large bathroom"

4
03/11/2015

We were four in a room with one king bed and one sofa bed. The bathroom was very large for a hotel of this price. Good shower. Great location. A/C was noisey but area was not loud or the hotel. Other friends said their queen rooms were tiny though so YMMV. I was lucky to sleep in the king bed which was comfortable.

"Great Location"

4
03/11/2015

This location was excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds were really really comfortable and had a great nights sleep. I liked that the parking was inside and secure. Was very pleased and will come again.

"Convenient to downtown"

5
03/11/2015

Very comfortable room, walking distance to Centre Bell, Notre Dame Basilica, museums and St Catherine street (for shopping). Staff were professional, courteous and helpful with directions. I would recommend if you are visiting Montreal.

"Central location but average hotel "

3
31/10/2015

The location is very central just a minute from St Catherine. Hotel is average, rooms have a decent size but could be renovated. Rooms were clean. We did not try breakfast. General athmosphere is not very inviting but if you are looking for a clean place downtown the Europa is a OK.

"Excellent location, reasonably priced "

4
26/10/2015

Hotel is centrally located in heart of downtown. Room was single bed queen (small room). While sold as a 'small' room, it's size was Ok and acceptable for solo or couple travel. Rooms are clean - laminate flooring which is much better than carpet. No bells and whistles here but good location, helpful and polite staff, Coras is next door for good breakfast and lunch. Only complaints would be weak wifi signal in the room and noisy when water/ showers were running in room above. You won't go wrong with this choice especially if location is important to you.

"Very surprised with hotel"

5
26/10/2015

I was extremely pleased with the staff, the decor, the cleanliness of the room. It was an overall great experience. The wooden floors in the room were a real surprise and helped the overall appearance. The king bed with sofa room was very spacious.

"Small modest hotel, that delivers all you need for the price!"

4
26/10/2015

2 blocks from Bell center, super location, very clean and efficient hotel. Nothing facny for sure, but very decent. Service was extraordinary. Very sympathic girls that greeted my son and I. They were super nice and made us feel like in a small rural hotel. For the price, this is really hard to beat. We were only staying over night after the Raptors game playing at Bell center.

"Stay at Europa hotel in Montreal"

4
26/10/2015

A 5 minute walk to the Bell Centre, very clean and very inexpensive for being downtown Montreal. We took a taxi to Old Montreal which only cost $12 with tip. Lots to see and do around this hotel location. Will definitely stay at the Hotel Europa for our next stay in Montreal.

"Great place well situated in Montreal"

4
23/10/2015

This Best Western Plus is very centrally located in downtown Montreal and in very close proximity to several good restaurants and the Bell Centre. I flew in from airport and used the city urban transport bus system which took me from the airport to the hotel in approx. 35 minutes and back for only $10.00. The room is a bit small but very clean and beds very comfortable. Another very good Best Western facility.

"You get what you pay for"

4
20/10/2015

We need something basically to drop and sleep then get up shower and go again. Rooms can be on the smaller side but the price is right and you are not far from the Bell Center, Ste, Catherines, Crescent Street, and the Metro. Great price for convenience..

"No Issues With This Hotel"

4
18/10/2015

I was part of a large group staying at this hotel and had no choice but to stay here. I was slightly concerned that it might be a bit sketchy but that wasn't the case at all. The queen bed room with the pull out sofa bed was ample in size. The hardwood floors were nice, the beds were comfortable and the room was sparkling clean. There are a few areas of the hotel that could use a bit of renovating but overall it's a clean and safe spot. I heard very little outside noise from the hallway and slept very well. The bathroom was a decent size and the shower worked great. If you want glitz and glamour this hotel is not for you. If you're happy with a reasonably priced hotel that is clean and well organized that you'll be OK here. I was happy with my two night stay.

"hotel good value for price, but service at the bar below standards"

3
18/10/2015

Hotel was fine for the price paid. Excellent location, close to center and restaurants. check in and out just fine. Service at the bar far below standards. Appeared to be simply ignored while staff was flirting with other guests.

"Our Third Visit to the Europa"

4
17/10/2015

This is our third time staying at the Europa in three years. We love the location. Most tourist sites are within walking distance. If not the metro, bus are easy to use from this location. We always have breakfast at Cora's before we set off exploring. We have found the beds comfortable, linens crisp and, towels plush. The restaurant, Addies, inside the hotel was very reasonably priced and the food was excellent. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. The girls at the front desk took the time to help me with my questions and nothing was too much for them to help. They have recently added new computers for their guests to use. I was having trouble downloading my air flight confirmation. A kind gentleman helped me. I asked if he was their "tech guy" and it turned out he was the hotel manager! Talk about service. It was the airline's fault I could not download my ticket, not the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its value, service and location.

"Good downtown hotel"

4
16/10/2015

Room was very large and clean. Excellent bar and restaurant and close to the shops, some great restaurants and downtown Montreal. The only issue was the air conditioner which I found extremely noisy but my friends did not have a problem with it as they are used to air conditioning. The view was of a building site but we did not spend a lot of time in the room anyway

"Great boutique hotel downtown"

4
15/10/2015

A great stay at this hotel which was comfortable and accessable. I found the room a little chilly and wiifi access in the rooms sometimes slow No breakfast available , but loads of local restaurants. Rooms are fine

"Horrible service!"

2
13/10/2015

I had horrible service at this hotel. I booked a queen room through Expedia, which specified that cribs were available. When I checked in and asked for a crib for my 11 month old daughter, I was told a crib would not fit in my room. I told the representative to find me a solution as I required a crib. She told me they were completely sold out. She then went on to look for another room, and without saying anything to me give me the keys to the original room and told me that when I got to the room I could decide whether I thought I could squeeze the crib in or not. I told her that I would not be taking a room that doesn't fit a crib. She then checked with maintenance and somehow was able to find a room [which was extremely small so I can only imagine what my first option was]. When maintenance brought me the "crib" it was an old and filthy pack and play from likely the 80s. I've stayed at hotels with my baby before and crib meant crib. Had I known I could have brought my own pack and play for which I at least have a mattress not the piece of cardboard they expected my daughter to sleep on. That night I asked about the breakfast buffet that was supposed to be included with my room. The rep told me that this hotel has no breakfast buffet. After showing her my confirmation which specified free breakfast buffet I was given vouchers to the restaurant next-door. All in all I can say I will never stay at this hotel again.

"Convenient hotel"

We stayed here for the Columbus Day (Thanksgiving in Canada) holiday weekend. The hotel is very convenient to everything, including a Metro station. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is not included in the price, but there are restaurants attached to the hotel and plenty on St. Catherine St. Parking is extra also. There is a parking lot right across the street. We parked there and walked or took the Metro everywhere, never touched the car. We stayed on the 6th floor and did not hear any noise at all. My only knock on this hotel was the spotty wifi.

"Lovely Room, terrible Front Desk service"

Lovely decorated room, spacious with a comfy sofa and bed but horrible view. Cleaning staff were so kind and helpful. Front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. Hotels are generally used by people from out of town, questions about local attractions, dining and shopping - touristy questions, should be expected and kindly answered. We were there for five nights, only because our room was prepaid otherwise we would have left and tried another hotel after the first night.

"Stay away from this hotel"

I won't come back to this hotel. My room had a window through which I could only see a wall and some pipes. Apparently they have many rooms like that, but they never asked me if I was fine with such a place. I asked for a different room, but the others they had were even worse (one had the toilet right next to the wall, with no space in between). Also, the room always had a weird (bad) smell and the sink was clogged. Once I saw some black dots in the towels, which were probably mold. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay away from this hotel!

My girlfriend and I were visiting Montreal from 30 Sept to 3 Oct and decided to stay at this hotel. Initial greeting was great but after that everything was sub par. We were sent to a room on the 2nd floor, opened the door and found a room a little bigger than a broom closet. Because of the way the hotel is set up the window provided us with a view of another wall of the hotel. She wasn't happy so I went to the front desk to see about getting a different room. They gave us one on the 5th floor, but was only accessible by staircase. Upon checking it out we decided to stay there as it appeared nicer, at first glance. I went back to get 2 room cards and then back to the room on the 2nd floor where my girlfriend and our luggage was. She was happy to hear we would be moving. Arriving at the room on the 5th, we discovered no tub, no extra mirrors (only the one over the sink) and a smoke detector hanging off the ceiling by its wires. The plus about this room and its location is there are only 3 rooms on that floor, kinda odd but nice. We stayed due to being a points card holder and the location but otherwise we probably won't again. Hotel only has a fitness center. No sauna. No pool. No whirlpool. Pretty basic. Hotel was close to everything including Metro stations and bus. Old Montreal is a 30 minute walk away or 2 metro stops. It's a beautiful city which we plan on visiting again due to girlfriend having family there so there is so much more to see. Cheers.

We have stayed many times with Best Western hotels over the years and have always been very satisfied with the service that we have received. This experience was OK but not great for the price that we paid. The room was small - not what we usually experience at Best Western.
