Best Western Plus Aby Hotel

I had an appointment in Mölndal so thought I would test out my newly acquired BW status. This hotel is directly connected to the arena so would be perfect for an overnight after eg a concert. There is plenty of paid parking, 140kr for 24 hours on weekdays which is significantly cheaper than using Parkster. Note from next week it's summer rate of 80kr per week!! On check in I received an 125kr voucher to be used for anything except alcohol in the reception. The receptionist was new at the job and didn't know the menu prices yet, but her along with all the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I was given a late checkout which helped the day run much smoother. Additionally I was given (without asking for) a handicapped room which was palatial in size with a mini kitchen! A little writing desk, plenty of space. Comfortable bed. Shower with good pressure. Good sized fridge. I slept well and the only complaint really about the room was the mat looked visibly old and dirty. The rest of the room felt clean. Towels are thin, I missed the thick fluffy towels of other hotels. Breakfast was decent with OK selection. The pancakes had obviously been sitting as the corners were hard, but the coffee was good and staff friendly. I would stay here again - thank you to all the staff at BW Åby

Comfortable room and good breakfast. The room was not cleaned when we returned from the second day's excursion. Then we discovered a note on the desk that cleaning must be ordered in advance. This is obviously a new variant of cost saving.

I give it 4 **The Westin Ivy Hotel, Sweden - 4/10** I recently stayed at this hotel when I needed accommodation in the area, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it to other travelers. While it's marketed as family-friendly, my experience fell far short of expectations. The most disappointing aspect was the children's facilities, which were shockingly substandard for what we paid. The amenities felt more like what you'd find in a basic budget establishment rather than what families deserve. The breakfast only till 0930am which is quite early (especially considering family stays). On the positive side, I found the staff to be pleasant and professional, the sheets were clean, and there was reliable hot water. These basic standards were met, which kept this from being a complete disaster. However, given the price I paid versus what was delivered, this hotel represents not great value. If you absolutely need a room in the area and have no other options, it will provide basic shelter. But for families especially, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are likely better options available that offer proper facilities and amenities worthy of what you're paying. The hotel has potential but needs improvements to justify its rates and family-friendly positioning.

This hotel is one of two close to the horse race track Åby in Gothenburg. I guess most of the guest are coming for a stay due to that. Otherwise it is not close to any downtown activities, shopping or other things. Rooms are OK and so is the breakfast.

Easy parking, kr 60 for one day; Fast check in, spacious room, nice bathroom with no amenities but with hair dryer and good bed and pillows. Complimentary coffee and tea. Only comment was that sofa bed for the kids was not ready and you have to put it in place yourself. Normally hotels in this price range get it ready for you. Fantastic gym (it's actually a gym company sharing building with the hotel). Breakfast was good in variety and quality. Without a car, it may not be super convinient as it is not near to downtown. Nice detail: we left behind an iPad and call two days after to ask for it. They found it fast!

Our room was very clean, nicely furnished and warm. The bed was really comfortable. I usually have problem the first night I sleep in a hotel room but not with that bed! Breakfast had everything : sausages, bacon, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, pastries, yogurt, milk, fruit and vegetables, bread and so on. Staff kind and helpful.

If you travel with car, this hotel has excellent location. Very nice sub urban area. To Lisebergs amusement park and very big shopping mall 10 minutes away. Breakfast was excellent and coffee - definitely best during visit in Sweden. Most important while traveling, we all had GOOD sleep in comortable beds. In rooms hotel is having a good selection when travelling with family. Eventhough they don't have restaurant, they had tasty variation for evening meal. Worth the money!

The design and the rooms are fine. Cleaning of the rooms ?. But the beds especially the top madras was poor. The breakfast is served, at a corner to hall of the horse race track. Coffee cups and cutlery are dirty. Employees don't react when we tell them. And the food plain and very boring. We stayed there during the Gothic cup. Big mistake. The hotel was not geared for that many guests. We had to eat breakfast with many, many and loud football camp kids. After the first disaster breakfast, we asked the receptionist when we could go and have breakfast the next morning…..hoping we could eat without feeling we were in a school dining hall. So to do that we had to get up eat in order to find a decent area to sit.

This is a hotel where me and my kids keep coming back just for fun and recreation. We love everything about it- the decorations, the comfy beds, the amazing gym, the breakfast and the warm and welcoming staff!

Feels very much like a business hotel for the local area. No atmosphere. The rooms however are nice but the breakfast is very poor which sadly lets the place down. The gym is excellent. Not the hotels own but from another company which you have free access to. Would have given 4 stars if the breakfast was better.

The hotel was a Surprise. The structure Is parte of a racecourse and on a paddle stadium. The hall Is in Tivoli style and the rooms was nice. The breakfast is very good with a lor of choises including a complete gluten free corner. The parking Is in front of hotel

Very quiet rooms. Theres a great gym in the same bulding that you can use free of charge. the breakfast is great, good quality food. The location is a bit far from the mölndal centrum but theres good connection to gothenburg center with bus.

I stayed here in November 2021. The Hotel itself is next to the Aby Arena and if you're lucky you can watch some horse races from your room. The room had some refreshing lighting and was very clean. You can find a personal note of the cleaning staff on your bed. I liked that. I also liked the breakfast menu, it was actually in the Arena and had all you need to start the day. The WiFi was fast and the reception staff was very friendly and helpful.

Friendly service. Rooms are cosy and beds are soft and comfy. Location is convenient but not central. Plenty of parking space. Breakfast is not up to the hotel standard with limited selection and a bit low quality.

Hotel was nice and clean. service very good. Special shout out to jennifer,Bella and Maia. Who went through lots to sort out new towels and bedding for my room as we kept making a mess. Also the guy who kept our Ice bucket full . Thank you loads. Loved. The service

If you are looking for a hotel to stay in Göteborg take Åby into serious consideration. Good service, very comfortable, clean and charming. Wide and fresh selection at breakfast. Since the horse race track it's right there you might end up witnessing race day while you have a late night drink at the bar. Nelson

My experience of staying in this hotel was nice. From check-in till check-out, all hotel operations appeared to be good. Well decorated and cleaned rooms, high speed Wi-Fi connectivity and very supportive staff helped me enjoy my stay.

Conveniently located if you are visiting the fair center or maybe horse race. Rooms are clean, comfy and many of them have a connecting door to the room next to you. Hotel has a large and well equipped gym and a sauna also free for hotel guests to use. There is a good lobby bar also. Breakfast is very standard but good enough.

Very nice place located in a nice area attached to one of the most famous horse racing venues in Sweden. Very nice and relaxing. The hotel is kids friendly. Very enjoyable reception lounge area. Close to the city center if you have a car. Two other shopping centers close to the hotel.Car parking available outside the hotel for an additional daily fee which is very reasonable. Very good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

Great place to stay: very comfortable bed, tasty breakfast, all facilities are modern and new. 4* comfort for the price of 3* Hippodrome arena view from the room. Good reach from a highway, but further away from the city, we didn't care though.

Very busy family Hotel next to a mess Hall and trotting race course, very modern, sterile not cosy. Opened in May , so pretty modern set up and equipment. Huge problem with house keeping, room not cleaned twice in 5 days, further on cleaning very superficial. On my comment staff offers excuses and a night for free in case we come back which we deny. Front desk staff polite and friendly but not all of them speak sufficantly good English. Restaurant staff friendly menu and breakfast menu pretty much limited but of high quality. To open the heavy room doors costs a lot of force probably due to fire safety .For elderly people nearly imposssible.

We visited Gothenburg with a family of five (ages 7, 4 and 2). Hotell Åby was a great stay to reach Liseberg and Universeum with only a short trip with the tramway (number 2 to korsvägen from Mölndal station). Very nice staff and excellent breakfast and the kids especially liked the connecting doors so they had their own room :)

This hotel is perfect for business. Free parking just behind green fence about 3 minutes walking from entrance. Room was very well furnitured and modern. Bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast had very good selection.

Stayed here due to all hotels near office being full or costing too much. The hotel had only been open for a month and there was still work going on outside. This started about 7am each morning which would have been very annoying if I wasn't already up. The hotel theme is very quirky, they say it's based on tivoli. Basically, if you are scared of clowns and the circus then you won't like the theme. If you do like those, then you will love the paintings and the games in the lobby. It seems the hotel is best suited if you are going to the horse racing or are attending a conference but I'm not familiar with the area so maybe it's handy for something else. As the hotel is part of the racecourse and conference center they do not have a restaurant in the hotel building, meals are served a short walk in the racecourse restaurant. Breakfast was busy but we managed to get a table and the food was good. Not sure what the Orange and Chilli shots are for but they do wake you up. The room was very nice, interesting colours and a lovely walk in shower. I had a good view of the race course (watched a few races one night), Smart TV so was able to stream GoT. I didn't have any issues with the room except I couldn't get it cold enough and I thought my curtain was going to fall off. I would stay again, hopefully they will get the work outside finished soon so it will look great outside as well as it is inside.

The hotel is about 10 min outside of Gothenburg City centre and free parking was included, which was great. The Lobby is lovely and fun! We spent hours playing games, shooting pool and reading books for the little ones. The restaurant is nice even if it's not actually located inside the hotel, it's just across the hall and you don't have to go outside. From there we were able to watch the horses training for the race and then the actual race. The kids loved that! The staff was service minded and very friendly. The rooms were on the smaller side, but very nicely decorated and clean. We had an amazing time and will be back, for sure!

I stayed 3 nights for business, and every day there was another problem with basic cleaning of the room... Day 1: trash can was not emptied. Day 2: towels not replaced. Day 3: tea cups used last night not replaced with clean ones. One of the sheets had a stain on it, I told reception on the first day, the bedding was never replaced. Luckily, the hotel is brand-new, I assume this is the only reason it's still clean.

It's a beautiful hotel with a fun theme. Great games in the lobby which bring strangers together in a fun way. The parking is pretty terrible and there's no place near the lobby to even park while you bring your luggage in, you have to transport it a very long way from the parking lot to the hotel with no luggage carts. I was pretty disappointed in the room. There was no luggage rack in the room so the suitcase sat on the floor the whole time. There is no phone in the room to contact the front desk and they never answered when I tried phoning from my own phone. The tv didn't work at all, it was constant network error messages. And it's positioned so low on the wall that it's not comfortable to watch it anyhow. Although they advertise having an ice machine there is no ice bucket available to gather it with. When we asked for ice we were given a coffee cup with 2 ice cubes. There were no tissues in the tissue box. There was garbage from previous guests in the garbage can. Not a single one of the soap/lotion dispensers worked. There's no room service available. The bed was comfortable if you lay still. If you move at all the bedding is so noisy that it wakes you and the mattress begins sliding off the bed as well. We couldn't close the curtains fully without moving the desk. Breakfast was served in a restaurant from 7-10:30 am the days we were there. The first morning we arrived at 7:30 and it was fine, good food nothing special. But the second morning we arrived at 9:30 and it was frustrating. They were out of plates, out of spoons, half of the food trays were empty, no butter, no milk, dirty dishes EVERYWHERE, no free tables to sit at and you're not allowed to take the food to your room. I asked if they were low on staff and they weren't, so it seems it was just very bad planning. Fun lobby but everything else needs thought and improvement and I am shocked that they have 4 stars. If we hadn't been attending a conference in the same building I would have asked for my money back the first day. Really disappointing!
