Best Western La Porte des Chateaux

Picked this hotel as it was pet friendly and was very pleased with choice. The little balcony was a lovely extra to the very comfortable room. I was impressed with the automatic lighting in the corridors to save energy. We only needed to stay 1 night, but would not hesitate to return to this hotel if in the area again.

Friendly reception by hotel staff. And then we experienced the room. Maybe 10 m2? The window curtain was loose, the bathroom too small to put your shaving gear in, a bedside light that kept on sputtering. The bed itself was OK. Breakfast: no fresh juice or fruit. Altogether, not enough value for money

Room is a bit small but with modern décor. Limited amenities in the room (safe and kettle), small balcony. There is a small gym with cardio equipment. Decent breakfast. Close to the village, restaurant on site and free parking. Overall room is a bit expensive for what you get.

I thought Best Western had quite decent standards but apparently I thought wrong. Location was actually quite nice within walking distance from town and the river. And unlike Formule 1 or Ibis Budget, the room had a proper bathroom rather than a plastic prefab one. That said, here's the list of issues experienced in one night: - loads of noise caused by continously running children in the rooms upstairs - having to mop the bathroom floor as it was soaking after showering - pieces of bacon on the kitchen shelve - yoghurt rests on the spoon - wifi connection not working according to instructions - reception not answering the phone when calling for help - door squeeking tremendously Obviously, next time I won't choose Best Western

After spending 3 weeks with a group from many different countries I can honestly say we were delighted with the whole staff and management at the Best Western Meung sur Loire, a super ambiance not only at the hotel but also at the restaurant. Rooms,apartments sauna, meeting rooms all such good standard. Everyone very professional and so helpful. A big thank you to all of you. Definately recommend this hotel. As we travel from southern France to UK this is a convenient stop over half way up or down. Hotel clean and tidy, Reception staff very helpful. Meals well presented in the restaurant and a surprise at breakfast...not just croissants etc but sausage scrambled egg and bacon, just what I needed before a long motorway drive. Will be staying there again.

Hotel was very nice, rooms were well appointed. It looked newly renovated. the rooms were quite large. Breakfast was good. Air con worked very well. Really no complaints other than it was hard to find a parking spot. We could walk to the city centre from the hotel.

We stayed here for a night on the way south to break the journey. We had an two bedroom apartment, which was more than spacious enough for a family of five. Very comfortable and clean - it was 41C when we arrived so the efficient a/c was very welcome. We have a disabled daughter who uses a wheelchair and the apartment, while not officially an accessible room, was great for us - good sized lift, wide doorways and wide corridors. Will definitely look at coming back.

This hotel is located on the edge of the historic quarter so it lacks old-world charm. However it offers excellent new-world amenities such as heating to dry our sodden walking boots, a very good restaurant and an excellent breakfast. The reception staff are very professional. Good value!

We spent a night here in a superior king room with sofa bed and balcony. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room clean and spacious. The bathroom was beautiful. Parking was easy, but was let down slightly by the access to the hotel reception which was gravel and difficult for wheelchairs/pushchairs to manouevre. We would stay again and can heartily recommend.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is excellent. Rooms are nice and bedding is very good. Parking is secured. Ideally located, not far from the highway and close to the main castles of the Loire. 20 minutes from Orléans.

LOCATION: conveniently located to visit nearby castles of the Loire, nearby a main road, so a good choice when you have a car; the castle of Meung-sur-Loire is at walking distance (less than 10') PREMISES: modern efficient building with free parking on site SERVICE: staff is friendly and efficient RESTAURANT: there is a restaurant called "Le Carrousel" attached to the hotel; it's not a place for fine dining but you get decent value for money BREAKFAST: limited choice of products and bread, but worth the 11€ spent ROOM: spacious, clean and quiet, with efficient large bathroom WiFi: reliable and fast in the room and all common places OVERALL: good value for money

After a long day on a motorbike, you need a relaxing place, plenty of room and a good bar and restaurant. This hotel delivers all of these things. Nice outside areas to sit and relax in. Good service through out and good value.

We stayed here for just an overnighter on our way to the south. Because we traveled with our bikes on the car, we needed a hotel with (at least) private parking or (better yet) a covered and closed garage for our bikes. BW La Porte des Châteaux not only had a big private parking but also a closed garage. Just what we wanted! Our (standard) room was smallish but the bed was comfortable, there was a good working air conditioning and the room was soundproof. Our room looked out on the garden and the street in front of the hotel but with the windows closed it was perfectly quiet. The room also had a small balcony with two chairs and a table. The bathroom has a big rain shower. This hotel is new (open since December of 2017) and everything is kept very clean. Their buffet breakfast is excellent and complete.

We stayed here for two nights in a family room with our 2 kids. The family room was in a separate building at the back of the main hotel. The whole place has recently been renovated and is in excellent condition with modern decor throughout. It is in a quiet location away from the main road with our windows facing the gardens of nearby houses. Our room had a fridge with freezer compartment so we were able to refreeze our cool blocks for on onward journey. The bed was very comfortable and the showers large and powerful. The kids slept on a sofa bed in the lounge area. We had bikes with us which we were able to store in their locked garage overnight. The hotel is in a great location for the Loire cycle path. Food in the Carrousel restaurant was ok but overpriced compared to what is available in the village a short walk away.

We only stayed one night but could have stayed longer. We had a comfortable air conditioned room. The restaurant is also good. The only downside is the noise from the nearby TGV railway line, so I would recommend you keep windows closed and rely on the aircon for ventilation. Would definitely go there again.
