Some may call the hotel quaint, but that is part of its charm. My room was more spacious than expected and rather cozy. The bed, reassuringly modern, was very comfortable. The bathroom provided all the necessary amenities. The staff was generally very helpful and professional, pleasantly so. Altogether a very positive experience.
Great hotel and fantastic breakfast. Comfy beds and pillows. Very clean. Good gym and location with a 10-15 minute stroll down the hill or out the back past the graveyard. Head up the way and you will find a few restaurants, Mainz training ground and buses to the old town. Friendly staff.
Very good room , design of hotel and most important the staff. Each staff is courteous and rooms are very clean. May be sound little far from city center that is walking for 15 minutes. They have good descent fitness center. They were not adamant for check out time and allowed time for little late check out , unlike other hotels who rush you for check out. So i feel that i will always look for best wester properties wherever i travel.
The hotel has a new elevator and is in good condition. It is clean and has a 15 euro breakfast. It is not expensive but does not have air conditioning in most the rooms. However the front desk is very helpful, the staff is pleasant, and if you speak in English they generally understand (although knowing some German is helpful). Note in the bathroom the soap is hard to access and it is for everything - hands, hair, skin. Not the greatest. You are better off going to the connivence store at the train station and buying a bar of soap for 0.55 euros and 3.45 shampoo before going there. You will be glad you did. There is an Italian restaurant next door and you are close to the train station only 1 km away or about a 10 minute walk.
Dirty hotel Given a room already occupied with dirty linen Carpets dirty Restaurant next door but part of hotel also serves terrible food Never stay in this hotel Receptionist also very i professional
Highly recommend this hotel staff was superfriendly and helpful. Parking is easy with the parking garage. The restaurant attached was delicious Rooms big and friendly with comfortable bed and different pillow choices The hotel has charm and we will definitely be back
The hotel, built into a steep incline of a hill in Mainz, offers vey nice rooms, some with a great view. Instead of a normal double I had a kind of suite, sitting and kitchen area, a spacious bath and a nice bedroom. Breakfast was perfect, in the evening there is an Italian restaurant (the food is ok, but it is strange that it only serves Italian wine, no local wine, which is what most would probably be looking for). The location is good for the University or for some television studios, but central for the city center and main attractions. Friendly staff, a little slow in the restaurant in the evening.
Great hotel , excellent and professional staff, very good location ( just few minutes walk to main station) , clean rooms and comfortable (makes you feel like home) exelent breakfast and a very good coffee .
This hotel offers imaginative architecture (built down a hillside) and tasteful interior decoration. Our room was large and very well appointed. Reception staff were extremely helpful. The garage is spacious and easy to use. The hotel is a bit out of Mainz but driving in is easy. Breakfast was very good and the adjacent Italian restaurant is convenient.
Daddy can we stay here for ever and ever? That was the first thing my 4 year old said when she saw the hotel rooms at Best Western Mainz. That sums up the review of the hotel Mainz is a beautiful place and best Western has picked a beautiful spot for a hotel. Yes it's a 1 km walk uphill from the railway station to the hotel but it's worth the walk. Really picturesque walk in autumn. The rooms were big and beautiful and airy.i wish my rooms had a better view of the outdoors but I can move with that. My 4 year old just could not get enough of the rooms, the soft bed and the fluffy pillows. What I loved most about the service was that no service was needed. Everything was in place from water bottles to towels to the right temperature air conditioning. I never needed to ask for anything. The restaurant below served an amazing breakfast buffet. But Germany generally does serve sumptuous breakfast. Dinner was also good and they were really good about kids. (In my experience,Restaurants in small towns can get a little prickly about noisy excited lil kids in their restaurant but these guys were very sweet.) If I have to complain then I guess I will have to complain about the really slow printer at the reception. It took me 10 minutes to log in to my mail and take a print of my ticket. But you can avoid the hassle by printing your tickets at home. My wife happily abandoned her sightseeing plans in favour of relaxing at the hotel. And that has rarely happened:-)
We stayed here 1 niight traveling onwards. Very satisfied with hotel. Modern lobby offered free coffee througout the day. Good breakfast, clean hotel and rooms. Only wish they had more electrical outlets in room (issue throughout Europe), but overall very good stay.
This hotel was about 15 minutes walk up the hill from the station with luggage, only 10 minutes without luggage. Pros: Very friendly helpful staff; Amazing selection at breakfast (and check out the butter machine!!); large spacious room; very comfy beds; spotlessly clean; very quiet area; nice Italian restaurant next door with good food and reasonable prices. Cons: No Aircon - the room was sweltering and there was no fan or anything. Would not recommend to stay here in summer because of this but it would be ok in winter. Location is not very convenient - it was over 15 mins to walk into the old town - I would probably chose a hotel in town if staying in Mainz again.
I have been there on a business trip for one night. The Hotel is close to the main train station but I would say too long for a walk with luggage but later close enough for a city walk. Service Top and reception friendly. Rooms seems to be refurbished. I had a nice room with lots of space and big bathroom. But my colleague mentioned his room was too loud (take care not to take a room in direction train station). Rich breakfast buffet. All in all recommended.
We liked this hotel for a number of reasons. First off, the room was actually an apartment with two bedrooms, large bathroom, kitchen and sitting room. It was well kept and the windows all opened although there was no air conditioning. The breakfast was excellent and we ate in the Italian restaurant one evening on the outside deck and it was very good. We could walk to the train station in 5 minutes or so and we walked from there all over the city. Good place to take a day cruise from on the Rhine River. The only thing that we found was a bit of an inconvenience was getting a taxi - it took forever. Other than that we highly recommend the Beat Western for your stay in Mainz.
No frills hotel. Very simple check-in with nice friendly staff. Room was very basic and OK for the price but Wi-Fi was slow and bed not very comfy. The decor was garish and certainly not something you'd take home for inspiration! Shower was OK and a good breakfast. Free parking which was a bonus
This hotel is situated a short walk from the railway and bus stations. It is very well appointed and clean. At the end of 14 days travelling the continent we found this the best hotel we had stayed in. Highlight the following: 1 Staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous- nothing too much of a problem. Even when confronted by a difficult customer courtesy and tact were seen to diffuse the situation. 2 Breakfast was self service but ingredients were the best. Again superb staff attitude. 3 Rooms were spacious clean and bathrooms very good. 4 Evening meal was good. Thank you.
They are very kindly , we are tired and we need to do The check in early and after explaining the problem we did The check in before 15:00. The breakfast was very good and you can take it with a Nice view! The room was big and confortable! The hotel sits on top of a hill, not so far of the train station(15 min walking)but you Will have to climb the hill with luggage. If you prefer taxi costs 11 euros from the train station.
The Best Western Mainz is a short walk up the hill from the Hauptbahnhof, but on the opposite side of the tracks from the majority of the city centre. From the outside the hotel looks a little boxy and square and this theme is continued inside. Though the building looks like it dates from an episode of Thunderbirds, the inside has been slightly modernised and is clean. My room was a good size and had a good size bathroom. The bed was comfortable but with the typical German twin-bed with two single duvets in a so-called 'double' room whereas I prefer a bigger bed and duvet being quite tall. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold snacks and the staff were always helpful in organising taxis etc. Check-in and check-out were quite fast, but as there was no queue at the time, this is to be expected.
Good, quiet hotel with free underground parking (which was super important for me). The breakfast is super nice. The room was spacious (single one), I would point out lack of toileteirs (just the general soap which was not smelling amazing). Italian restaurant in the hotel is very nice and relatevley cheap.
Hotel 10 minutes away on foot from the city center. Rooms need urgent renovation, and also bathrooms. The price is too high for what the hotel offers. What I liked? Breakfast. This is all .Not good value for monay .
Nice hotel, but several lacking points: no room air conditioning (nor ventilation - sleeping with open windows just close to railway was not good), no mini bar and no vending machine, room pretty small and rates quite high (due to fair in Frankfurt). Beside this, hotel restaurant was very good (despite service was too slow).
We only stayed in this hotel for one night as we were finishing up our trip. This is a fairly large hotel with many rooms. Our room was very nice and clean and we appreciated the elevators to get to our floor. Because the hotel is so large, there was a fair amount of walking to get to our room. The breakfast room was large with big windows overlooking the city. There is an underground parking garage where we could park our car easily for no extra charge. The decor was a bit outdated but that was not an issue for us.
was our corporate hotel, when our office was located in mainz. my colleagues and i stayed there overall more than 30 times, i would say. I loved their breakfast and in general, it is a nice place to stay. rooms look a bit old fashioned, but you have there everything you need. the beds are comfortable. about 5-7 minutes walk down the hill to Mainz Central station, maybe 7 minutes with taxi to the city center. ah, and the italian restaurant in the hotel is really nice. i loved their onion soup :)
Stopped over for one night passing through on our journey. Hotel is within walking distance of the old city. The room was very comfortable, breakfast was nice and varied. there is a nice Italian restaurant attached (independently run) we had a drink there it was quite busy and seemed popular with locals. The Hotel has underground garaging and is also close to a bus route to town if preferred.
Very nice hotel not far from Frankfurt (about 40 mins by car) very close to Hahn airport, it's a perfect place to stay during the frankfurter messe (usually there're no room available in the City during the fairs). Rooms are huge and very clean, kitchen is also included if needed. Breakfast is just perfect and a very nice italian restaurant is available for a business dinner. Employees are very kind and helpful, a garage is also available. I love this hotel!
Good access to parking, clean lobby and everything functioned well in the room and lobby. The staff was professional. Breakfast was the BEST. Solid access to a variety of foods and even some local foods, not just German but local to Mainz. The hotel appears to be undergoing renovations but
Super kind staff at the hotel. Bring the digital native I am... Had issues with wifi, but it was handled really quickly and with kindness. Ate at the Italian restaurant and it was crazy busy. Lots of action. Pizza was good an quick. Perfect brief burdens trip!
Nice hotel, close to the main train station, very comfortable rooms and great breakfast. Only negative is the price which is very high compared to what they offer and the neutral personnel. All in all though, a nice hotel to stay.
I stayed here for 3 nights on business and was fairly pleased with it. Yes, the rooms and the hotel look a bit dated, but they were clean and comfortable. The fitness centre isn't the biggest I've seen in a hotel, but it had everything I needed. There is free wifi, but it's pretty poor - not enough bandwidth to FaceTime home. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, but it is ran separately - I never ate there but the food looked really good. I'll probably stay here again when back in Mainz
We stayed for 10 days, it's an older hotel. However, the rooms are clean, employees very nice, the restaurant is very good, breakfast is very nice. good parking. It's close to the train station. It should not cost you more than 7 euros to get there with taxi. It's a good Best Western
Wwe came here for a weekend as we wanted to see the Chagall windows in St Stephens and more than happy with our choice. The people at reception were friendly and efficient, the lobby had coffe and tea to go, which we immdediately took advantage of as we had run out of water in the car. The room was very comfortable with large bed and lovely cotton bedding, the soap was very mild and not strrongly perfumed, which was good for my sensitive skin. Finally, the breakfast was excellent with smoked salmon as well as a large choice of other foods, including weisswurst. In short, we would come back here in a shot and recomemnd it heartily.
The location of the Hotel is 15 mins, some parts uphill walk from railway station and 30 mins from City Centre and to the Tourist Office as well as the Rhine to book your cruise. You can take a taxi which is quite reasonable. Hotel rooms are spacious with big bathroom but out dated. The breakfast is good with choices of hot & cold items. The reception staff is friendly You have to try the Italian Restaurant in the Hotel. Food is good and reasonable, salad portion is good and the pizza is good. We also tried the Thai restaurant which is not far from the Hotel. Good food with reasonable price, authentic Thai flavors. There is a Medditerran restaurant next to it which we have not tried
It is a nice hotel, that I stay for second time. Rooms are quite big, old fashioned and clean. Room service visits and clean daily, doing good job. They do not mess your stuff, which gives you comfortable feeling. Therefore, if you seek for a good place to stay and you are not fan of sophisticated hotels, that's the place.
The staff is very friendly and offers excellent advice on the city. High quality breakfast and comfortable clean rooms make for a relaxing stay. Plenty of parking in a private multi-level car park means you can drive to the Alstadt, which I recommend because the hotel is on a hill, around 1,5km from the city centre. Air conditioning would have been useful as it was aqn exceptionally warm summer.
Summary: Not what I would expect from a major mid-range chain, facelift in lobby did not offset outdated condition of rooms. Would have been more bearable if not for extremely hot weather conditions coupled with lack of air conditioning. . Pros: Breakfast was OK Staff was friendly and polite. room had a mini fridge (not all rooms did) Cons: -No Air-conditioning, which for the climate would normally be OK, but not OK during summer heat wave. -Room not ventilated, no vent fan in bathroom, if I took a shower whole hotel room became very humid. -Questionable cleanliness. Found several silverfish (Lepisma saccharina; wingless insect in the order Thysanura) in my bed on several occasions. Insect activity probably in part due to unseasonable temperatures and humidity, but still inexcusable. -Outdated. -room felt like a basement. -Location unremarkable.
