Great experience, great service, close to wonderful Ludington. Close to restaurant's and lots of things to do in town. Wouldn't stay anywhere else. The breakfast buffet was very nice. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are clean. LOVE
Awesome location and minutes from the ferry location and town. Close by places to eat and enjoy. Subway is near by for simplicity and Walmart. It was a nice stop with the pool and park for our Granddaughter. She had a great time. It was convenient for ferry time next morning. The staff was helpful and friendly. Would stay here again if ever in Ludington. Aloha and Mahalo
This lace was one of the most cost competitive places on the west coast of Michigan. Had a king room, which was very large and nice. However, the sink was still outside the bathroom. With the size of the room, would have preferred the sink be in the bathroom behind closed doors. Key thing to note is the elevator is in the BACK of the hotel.we had a 2nd floor room, which was fine, but due to a recent leg injury preferred the elevator. Our room ended up being right above the front lobby, so we had to walk all the way to the back, go up, and then walk all the way back.turns out there was a set of stairs right next to the lobby going right to our room! Front desk should have told us that- that would have been WAY easier for us. Bed and room were great breakfast was busy. Nice their pool area is window enclosed to keep any pool noise down. We had no issues at all. Location was quick, easy and convenient for us traveling south down the coast. We didn't visit the ludington beachfront at all, as we had visiting it further north during the day, and just used this place for our travel test and sleep. Was able to get up, on our way on the nearby highway the next morn without issue.
We have stayed at this Ludington Best Western a few times and it is always a good stay. We had a quiet night. The room was very clean and were all the hallways. Breakfast can be a bit crowded but there is decent selection. We had sausage links, scrambled eggs, toast, yogurt and there was oatmeal. I did not wait for a waffle machine but they have two. We will be back again.
We arrived in the later afternoon after a long day of driving. When we got to our room, it smelled strangely musty. We were leaving early the next morning, and I was too tired to ask for another room. The breakfast had minimal choices of yogurt and cereal, but my husband had scrambled eggs and sausage. The front desk clerk upon arrival was helpful and friendly, but the front desk clerk in the morning was not. We stayed here because it available and cheaper than other options in the area and was okay for one night.
Excellent value for the dollar. We will definitely be staying there again. Clean, comfortable, friendly accommodating staff. What else would anyone expect.
Loved this hotel! Very nice staff and BW member thank you gift of two waters and two granola bars upon arrival. We were allowed to check in a couple hours early and stayed in 136. The room was clean with an updated bathroom. I liked the walk-in shower. There was also a refrigerator and HUGE flat screen tv. The bed was very comfortable and despite the very crowded RV park behind the hotel we didn't hear any noise from outside. Nice breakfast options provided in the a.m. Definitely not close to the beach or state park but only a 10min drive to the city park beach area and 20min to the Ludington State Park entrance. I would definitely stay here again!
Friendly staff super clean rooms and very good food. I would stay here again. Highly recommend to families traveling. Need to say front office check in was so good. Breakfast choices also good. I had the eggs and coffee. Kids made waffles and had cereal.
WOW!! your team went above and beyond!! My dad turned 90 years old during his stay and the staff surprised him with cake, ice cream and a balloon!! He was just so touched and I (his daughter) was so thrilled with how special that made him feel! THANK YOU!!
We had a king room on the 2nd floor. There is an elevator and carts to take luggage upstairs. The hotel is a bit of a maze with different hallways. Once you figure it out it's easy enough to find your way around. Our room had a shower stall without a tub. That was perfectly fine for our needs. Lots of big fluffy towels, plenty of hot water. We didn't think there was a hairdryer but found it in the closest Our room also had a fridge (no freezer section) and microwave. Nice big tv with lots of channels. Breakfast was great with cheese omelette, sausage, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit and bread. The breakfast room is a good size and easily accommodated the guests when we were there. Plenty of parking, swimming pool, outdoor sitting area and children playground. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the beach and ferry. Walmart is across the street and plenty of retail stores and restaurants nearby.
Fun little outing for the night. We went to visit a friend and brought our little dog. We enjoyed the trip and the ease of the stay.
Very clean guest room, friendly staff! In town for a wedding and stayed 3 nights. Very pleased with this hotel. Great service, location and value. Definitely recommend.
Walking into the Best Western in Ludington was a new experience - felt very luxurious. The design makes so much practical sense also. Check-In at one side. The breakfast area was open and spacious a little to the side but not confined to a separate room-this led into a wide arrangement of chairs and couches. The glass wall ahead was the swimming area. All done with high ceilings and rooms conveniently located. Excellent design for making someone feel pampered.
It was a great experience we stayed 4 days/ 3 nights and it was great 👍. Really great to stay there and enjoyed the fitness center and the hot tub.
rooms under construction, but the carpet in the hallways were very dirty, while under construction maybe vacuum a little more often, pleasant staff, breakfast was good for continental
We stayed at the hotel with a large group for a hockey tournament, the hotel was accommodating for our large group. We had an early morning game that by the time we got back breakfast would be over, the staff generously left it opened longer so we could eat after our game. The breakfast was fresh, warm and delicious. The staff also let us use the hotel lobby/dining area for our pizza party. It was an excellent experience for our families. We showed the staff the courtesy back by cleaning up the area and leaving before quiet time to not disrupt other guests. We will definitely be back to this hotel.
we were very happy with the cleanliness of the room and surroundings , nicely updated , the breakfast was good but the choices could have been alternated from day to day a little bit . My wife is very in tune with cleanliness and she was very happy with our room !! Bonus !!
A friend of mine and I went to Ludington over a weekend in September 2023 for an overnight getaway and had decided to stay at this hotel. (Funny enough, I had stayed at this same property back in 2003 when it was under a different name. I remembered that it was a decent place back then, and based on the recent TripAdvisor reviews, it looked like it was still fairly nice.) We arrived early on Saturday afternoon, and it turned out that our room was ready before the official check-in time which was awesome! Our check-in process went smoothly, and our room (#215) was clean and comfortable. No problems whatsoever. We also appreciated the indoor pool and hot tub, and it was nice that there were some places to sit outside under the large tree on the premises. I can't really speak to the breakfast because we opted to go elsewhere for breakfast, but it seemed like it was decent. Altogether, our stay was pleasant! For me, it was fun to revisit a hotel I'd stayed at 20 years prior. I would have no qualms staying here again.
The rooms and facilities as expected. A vehicle in our group was damaged by maintenance / ground crew team members as the parked truck was ran into by a zero turn lawn mower. The service/hospitality after the incident was lacking and very transactional. Responsibility for the incident was acknowledged, nothing was offered meal comp, room discount, etc. This was not a minor scratch or rock chip, this was broken tail light, several dents, and multiple bare metal scrapes more than 18 inches long, several thousand dollars of damage and who knows how many days in the body shop, kind of incident. Hospitality and customer retention training is needed.
Very clean and quiet place to spend the night or a few days. We traveled with our great-grandkids and it was perfect. Pool area was very clean with large heated pool and large hot tub area.Very comfortable beds. Delicious breakfast with many items to choose from. Nice playground for the kids and even shuffleboard. very short distance from Ludington - maybe 5 minutes. Perfect location. Will definetly stay again. Price was very good for all that they offer.
Great for entire family, including pet dog. Kids enjoyed inside pool and outdoor playground. Adults appreciated internet use and morning coffee. Everyone loved the waffles. Perfect little egg omelettes!
Very clean rooms! Large rooms with table, chairs, huge fridge (no freezer), microwave, large drawers, hangers, and luggage rack which I always use. The pool was extremely clean and I did not use the hot tub but many people did. I REALLY appreciated the late hours of the pool especially the adults only hour from 10-11. More hotels should have that. That being said kids having access until 10 is a very generous time for the family. The pool was very warm. Towels were provided so you did not have to use your room towels. I liked that they provided makeup wipes and other amenities as needed. The A/C kept the room cool and we had enough outlets but we always travel with a power bar just in case. They are a dog friendly hotel and there was a lovely picnic spot out back with grass. Best hotel I can remember staying at. Hot breakfast each day with scrabbled eggs or mini omelets and sausages as well as waffles, yogurt, wrapped cheese, bananas, juice, coffee and more! The only downside would be that I did not like the lumpy pillows so bring your own and the beds were 2 doubles not 2 queens. I brought my own pillow and slept great! Wonderful staff.
I was very impressed with this hotel. It is a little dated but very clean with lots of amenities our sons enjoyed. We decided to take advantage of the little grill out by the playground and enjoyed playing shuffleboard while my husband grilled. My husband and I loved the adult time at the pool 10pm until 11pm. I wish more hotels did this. It was nice to get our teenage boys settled in the room while we enjoyed some alone time in the hot tub to unwind. It's only about a 10 minute drive to Stearns beach which was nice as well. The only negative is how far you have to go to get to the laundry room but that honestly is not a deal breaker. We definitely will be back.
We had a one night stay and everything was great. No surprises. Clean rooms, clean pool and a nice breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I believe the current staff deserves an across the board raise.
We paid about $220 for a king with fireplace. The room was ok. The balcony was over the hot tub. They could hear us talking quietly (the people looked up suddenly), so the balcony is not for any private conversation. The pool closed, but the lights stayed on all night. The curtains didn't keep the light out of our room, so that was pretty inconvenient as we like to sleep in a very dark room. It also took away the ambiance of having a fireplace. This is not a romantic room if that's what you're looking for. If I'm going to pay these types of prices, I'd rather go to another hotel that is more updated, has better room situations and darker rooms.
Rooms were clean, staff was friendly. Room was average and not worth the $300 I had to pay. The beds were not the most comfortable (my wife woke up with a sore back). No exhaust fan in bathroom. Bathroom could have used some minor repair (trim work and paint). We didn't eat breakfast there. The fitness room was basic and hot.
The rooms were clean, nice sized and all common areas were clean and tidy Breakfast included eggs, sausage and waffles. Indoor pool was clean and pool temperature was comfortable Friendly staff throughout the entire hotel Internet was easy to connect to
Hotel was clean, rooms were a good size, not cramped. Breakfast was basic, but good. There is a fenced dog park, which was nice. Pet waste bags provided. Only about 10 mins to the state park and downtown area. Lots of restaurants and stores around the hotel. Very friendly staff. Price was a little high, but it was a gus maker weekend, so that was expected.
Room was clean,. Decor was uninspiring. Towels were thin, leaning toward threadbare. Check-in staff and cleaning staff were great. Check-in staffer told me that my rental truck parking place was fine, particularly as they weren't busy (slow season). Night staff the first night kindly moved me away from a loud party in the next room. Beds were comfortable. On the 3rd of my 4 day stay, new young front desk staff guy, full of himself, confronted me on my parking place. Sort of tried to intimidate me lol. Without going into great detail here, his poor customer service capabilities resulted in pricking my ire. One bad staffer can ruin a stay. -2 dots for dated decor, towels, and one bad staff experience.
Beautiful rooms. We stayed in two queens. Very large rooms. Had a view of Lake Michigan. Very quiet. Beautifully decorated. 2 story. We stayed 1st floor. Parking at your door. Refrigerator microwave. Coffee pot. Breakfast was really good. Good selection. Eggs bacon potatoes biscuits cereal yogurts waffles. Ladies keep everything fresh.
I stay at Lakewinds regularly as I travel weekly for work, the staff is efficient, friendly and accommodating. I have never been disappointed with my rooms. I would Def recommend this hotel. It is my goto spot in the west side of the state.
The room was updated and very clean. Decent selection for breakfast. The pool and hot-tub had lifts to help handicapped get in and out. Located right on Highway 10 - close to many places to eat, both fast food and sit-down.
The room was nice. We just had trouble regulating the temperature in the room. We tried adjusting the thermostat. It would get too hot and then too cold. My husband said the water for the shower got way too hot. But we would stay here again.
Great place to stay. Close to Lake Michigan, restaurants, shopping, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and check out was easy. Only downfall we had was the breakfast option. We stay at a Best Western in Illinois and they have a great breakfast option. Here, they only do waffles, cereal and sweets which is good for little kids. We went to McDonalds and Wendy's in the am.
You cannot beat BW Lakewinds. It is a great location to restaurants and stores, and an 8 minute drive to the beach. The price was amazing given the cost of other hotels, motels and inns nearby. The amenities were great. Good continental breakfast, clean rooms, nice indoor pool and hot tub, an outside playground, patio and grill set up and a good size dog walk for pets.
Floor in the room was so dirty, we had to use washcloths just to get into bed. 2 minutes walking around the room barefoot and our feet looked like we'd been walking in the parking lot. This was not a good first experience at a Best Western but it was most likely our last.
This hotel has so many accommodations and is very nice. I know best westerns don't always have the best reputation but this one definitely won me over. I love that they have free breakfast and a good variety of breakfast foods. The pet friendly option is also amazing they have a small caged area to let your dogs play. The play ground and grills outside were also a great option. Loved the indoor pool as well. The rooms were very clean and the service was great.
Most of the staff were nice, however, there was one that was incredibly rude. Our rooms are small, musky, and I would suggest that you bring you own pillows. You cannot hear outside noise from inside the room, which is great. The breakfast was okay but options were limited.
Stayed one night at the BW Ludington on our way to northern Michigan. Our first impression of the facility was that it is an older, tired BW location. However when we walked into our room (King family suite) it was very nice! It had obviously been recently refurbished. It was very clean and everything worked. The shower had lots of hot water & great water pressure. Our room was located away from the road and it was very quiet & comfortable. Breakfast could have been better, they did not offer the usual scrambled eggs, sausage etc, just waffles and tasteless breakfast sandwiches to reheat in the microwave. But--the room was nice, the location was safe & quiet so would recommend.
This Best Western needs updates, non smoking room had been smoked in, pool was slippery and strange design. Breakfast was nothing special. Pricey for location. Will opt for another place next time I go to Ludington.
We stayed here for one night only as we were catching the 9:00AM sailing of the S.S. Badger to Wisconsin the next day. It met our needs well. Breakfast was adequate with fruit, cereals, juices, coffee, packaged sweetrolls, breakfast bars, and microwavable sausage/egg/cheese biscuits. If we returned to Ludington for a longer stay, we would probably use a local resort that is closer to the Lake Michigan shore and beach access. The Best Western is about 2 miles away
This place was probably once upon a time a motor court with rooms that opened directly outside. The property is pretty funky with what appears to be an addition onto the original motor court with exterior siding on the interior hallways in parts of the property. The price we paid for a July stay were short of highway robbery for the offerings and condition of the property, but it's high season and the rates were in line with other one and two star properties in the area. Our king was somewhat updated with a strangely mounted showerhead that was so high on the celling that the sprays were nearly impossible to change unless you were an NBA star. All of the updates were pporly done with mirrors mounted off center and lights above in strange positions. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our travel companions had a standard double room in the older part of the hotel and paid the same price as we did and they really got ripped off. The bathroom was teeny tiny, the A/C and heating system was old and loud as was the bathroom fan (sounded like a Harley Davidson motorcycle). The standard doubles really, really show the age of the property.
our room was very nice. the bed was very comfortable. the help was very friendly and helpful. breakfast was very good even though they didn't have everything they use to. covid is probably still messing things up. but over all everything was great. we will be back again.
manager Katie is always accommodating...good location (a couple miles from the beach & downtown, fairgrounds across the highway)--restaurants close by--gets busy during tourist season...indoor pool , exercise room and guest laundry
Very noisy, insufficient bedding for sofa bed, bathroom cleaned after arrival, smelled stufffy. Front desk people pleasant. People slamming doors and every time they did the bed shook. Never given a copy of the bill…
We have stayed at this Best Western several time. We look forward to an excellent breakfast layout and plan our stays accordingly. At least the coffee was good, this time. We have been on the road for over a week, I've had enough waffles by this time, not even biscuits and gravy were available!!
Stayed here over the weekend while we were in town for a youth baseball tournament. The staff was very friendly. Our room was clean and everything worked. The location works very well as it's close to the highway, but also a short drive to anything we needed. There is a Walmart close by and plenty of restaurants. The hotel is pet friendly and even has a dog play area. The pool / hot tub were clean and working. We would return here again if in the area.
The personal was ok at check in. We were in Room 237 and you could hear the people in the other room. We walked into the room and was counter to your left with a bar sink and microwave and refrigerator underneath. In front of us was table with two chairs then two queen size beds. Heating unit in this room. To the left is the bathroom with a small shower. The shower curtain was to short so you ended with water on the floor. Then you had the room with a door and king size bed. In the room was alcove to hang your clothes. This room had a heating unit too. I shut them off when I went to bed since they were to noisy. The room even had a carbon monoxide monitor. The area where the rooms were was kind of crazy. One section was a square and you could see the pool area. The other ones were off the square. The extras you got here was a nice area with picnic tables and a barbecue grill that you need charcoal for. A dog fence in area so they could run around in and do their business. The pool was warm and it included a hot tub. A game room and fitness center. Nice sitting room near the lobby with reeling chairs. Breakfast was included but don't expect much. Only hot thing was the waffles you made. On Sunday around 930 they ran out of batter and nobody around to tell. The only thing I did not like is that they cleaned the room and touch my clothes so they could make the bed. I have been in about 5 hotels before this one and they were the first that said they were cleaning. That gets me to wonder how much deep cleaning are they doing.
Our room was dark and drab, the mattress was horrible. The only good thing was there were places to eat dinner at and they were close by. At check-in, the guy who was at the desk was very short with us and not so friendly.
The hotel itself was nice, the pool and hot tub were very clean. The breakfast area had alot to offer and was always kept clean as well. Upon getting in our room I did find cigarette ashes on the toilet paper holder (mind you this is a smoke free hotel) The peeling paint and wall around the bathtub/shower was a major eye sore. The tub also did not plug when we went to give our son a bath. The rooms really need some attention, but other then that our stay was fine. The beds were comfy. Our room had a fridge, microwave and coffee pot. However if you ran the microwave while the tv was on it blew the circuit every time. That really shouldn't happen in a hotel room. I would stay here again if there was no where else open.
Pool and hot tub were just ok. Price of the room was fair. The breakfast in the morning had several options and pets are allowed at this hotel. The location is great with several stores and restaurants nearby.
The pool area is really gross. The floor/tile/cement is dusty and dirty with clumps of hair everywhere. It looks as though no one has cleaned in a year. The ceilings are stained with water damage with bent and buckled wood boards coming away from the ceiling. There are stains on the walls in the pool room and main common area/breakfast area where the leaks have stained the walls. We stayed during rain and snow with freezing roads and walkways. We went out at 930am, my son slipped and fell on the ice covered cement stairs. By 930, the ice should have been addressed. Salt should have been put down the night before and morning of. This weather was expected. The only good thing was the breakfast. You can make your own waffles, all the food in neat and organized. Rooms have cheap old fixtures and smell of mildew.
This location has a great pool and hot tub. The kids had a blast playing in it. The free breakfast was complete and very good. Plus, the hotel has a fitness room and outdoor playground for the kids in the summer. The room was clean and met our family's needs well.
Great pool and rooms are large and very well decorated. Super clean. Had a group of Hockey players and parents and the lobby was comfortable and clean. Rooms all in a general area and staff so accommodating and helpful.
Our room was very clean and comfortable. The help was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good for what they were able to offer due to covid. will be happy when the breakfast goes back to full choices
We stayed 2 nights mid -week October. Nice property, good value, clean, very quiet, plenty of well lit parking, friendly helpful staff. Checked ALL the boxes that work for us. Free breakfast was still covid affected. So, mostly grab and go and a few things you could heat up. Lots of seating if you wanted to dine in. Good spacing between multiple food stations if that concerns you. The coffee was good to me AND free flowing ( they never ran out ). So, that makes up for any minor sins of the breakfast offering. Nice job Ludington Best Western staff.
1 Sept 21 We checked into the Best Western Lakewinds at the edge of town 5005 W HW 10. We have stayed at this Hotel on previous crossings where we went around Lake Michigan and Superior on road trips. Accommodations were SO SOish OK, with a nice indoor pool thus giving this accommodation a hinge rating of 3.4 (Tom's scale of 0-5). We stayed in a two bedroom suit which made it nice for two couples to share the cost. Large area of the indoor pool can be a little noisy. The Breakfast at the Best Western was your routine fair (nothing spectacular so we went elsewhere.
Nice hotel property. Up to date, clean, friendly staff. Great place for a great price. I highly recommend this place and would stay again if I had the chance. It was a quiet area too. Close to everything.
Always stay here every year in September. Always 100% satisfied. Rooms are always super clean and every is in excellent working order. Staff is professional, friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this Best Western.
Not a lot of chain options in the area, but this worked. It's nothing special, but the room was clean and adequate. No room service for now and used the workout room, which was good, but very hot, probably because it's close to the pool. Breakfast is less than reasonable. It's all cold or microwave stuff. Not sure if it's COVID driven or the standard at this Best Western.
Hotel over all seem ok, But there pillows are small balled up and not good, Do not use the assisted lifts in the pool area, They are not safe and may not work with all the rust on them, The Breakfast is just Microwaveable food. 2 Queen bed rooms are 1 person walking around at a time not much room.
We checked in at 2:00 PM. The woman at the front desk was polite and professional. Everything here is clean and well maintained. There is plenty parking AND the individual spaces are comfortably wide! The room was delightfully huge and we had a window on two sides. This motel offers a hot breakfast (self-serve). Check out was easy. The Mason County Fairgrounds is right across the street.
Room was comfortable and has fridge and microwave. The shower has a large rainfall shower head that is mounted high on the wall, perfect for tall folks. Good breakfast - muffin, cereal, fruit, breakfast sandwich, boiled egg, yogurt, bread for toast, waffles to warm in the microwave, coffee, juice, water. Best continental breakfast I've encountered while traveling during the pandemic. Quiet room away from the pool. Housekeeping was okay. Trash removed and bed made but used towels were not removed and left in the tub. Soap and shampoo available in the room. Best priced room I could find for this trip.
Hotel offered what we needed, a place to sleep and shower. Continental breakfast was nice, wide variety of items. Bathrooms could use some work. Staff was friendly. Good location, close to everything.
Expensive but paying for location. Very clean, variety of breakfast items, good pillows and towels, courteous staff. Beds were a bit too firm, noise from people overhead just walking around, and very loud rushing water every time a toilet flushed. Nice playground for younger kids and outside tables. Great chairs in lobby. Game room had air hockey ($1/game) and prize/claw machines.
The view from our room was weeds and trash. The faucets were backwards regarding hot and cold. The name Lakewinds would lead one to believe it was closer to the Lake. The hallway and stairway were dimly lighted making it difficult to see. The breakfast area was self serve and therefore, not yet safe due to Covid.
Great staff and very supportive with extraordinary requests. I requested a rollaway bed for the kids and its was ready to go when we arrived. I was even upgraded to a larger room without a fee, due to my walking cast on my foot.
GREAT place to stay, during covid there was still good breakfast choices, nice pool in a large room with lots of windows and stuff for kids to stay busy. Room was very nice and clean. Would stay again. Only one small issue, fella at checkin was a little rude and cocky.
have stayed here before which is why we chose it again! it is a short drive from the downtown and the rooms are nicely sized for accommodating a family. the interior hallways of rooms are such that you feel like you are outside; it's rather cute!
Maybe it's because we had a dog with us, but the room we were given had a very tiny bathroom with a drop ceiling that was moldy. The breakfast selection was very limited, and there were no Coke products in the vending machines. We had to hang a towel over the outside window shade (which was translucent) to block the light. On the second day of our stay, we didn't leave the room until mid afternoon. When we returned in the evening, the room had not been cleaned. (Maybe because we didn't hang the clean the room sign on the doorknob). For what we were charged, we expected better and will not return.
We were traveling around Lake Michigan and stopped here for one night. It is a great location. We didn't use the pool so can't comment on that. We did not have kids with us but if you do, there is a nice playground which I would have really appreciated when our kids were small! Room was clean and nice. I would recommend this hotel.
We have always had a great stay at Best Western Lakewinds. The help has always been very professional and very helpful. our room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast even though limited due to covid they still had a very good assortment to chose from. We plan on returning again soon.
Highly recommend the Best Western, friendly, Clean. Pool was open and they served a wrapped item breakfast, we enjoyed. After our travel around Michigan this was our only hotel that gave us any extras.
The staff are very friendly from check in to check out! Our room was clean. There is a mini fridge, microwave & a coffer maker. Due to COVID19 the breakfast was all pre-packed but there was a large variety to choose from. Prior to COVID19 they offered hot breakfast choices, which will start up again soon, I was told. The location is not far from the highway, close to stores & restaurants, minutes to downtown and beautiful Lake Michigan. Sunsets are awesome!!
The check in staff, and especially the cleaning lady were cheerful and helpful. The room was a typical BW room. The pillows were soft and the towels were fluffy. I can't get past not having a hot breakfast on a $198. room. I was looking forward to a good breakfast, as I have come to expect from BW. It's time, bring hot breakfast back!
This hotel is smack dab in the middle of restaurants and stores. It's only a few blocks from downtown and we found it convenient. It was very clean, beds were comfy and the staff was friendly. It's nothing fancy and if you are looking for a charming getaway location there are others places to stay. But, for the value for the money we found this to be a very wise choice. We would stay here again.
The location was good, the staff was kind, pricing was very fair. The room was excellent it was roomy, had bunk beds in it for the kids, this saved a ton of room and opened the space up for a ton of activities (No power tools needed for assembly)
We got off the fairy and arrived about midnight. She said it may smell in your room from the camp ground fires. We walked into the room and it was terrible, I don't think it was smoke, it smelled more like a wet rag that someone put so much air freshener to try and cover up. My eyes were almost burning. The toilet was also barely attached to the floor. I was exhausted so, we spent the nice and left ASAP. I would not go back, not a great way to start a trip.
Very clean and well maintained!!! Rolando who was at the front desk was awesome!!! He gave us great recommendations for Diner. The entire staff were very friendly and made our stay very comfortable!!!!
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast even though modified due to COVID-19 had great options and even bags to be able to take something with you. The staff was very helpful and always had a smile on their face.
don't use pool or hot tube nasty dirty. the place needs a good cleaning overall . staff not very friendly. have stayed at this location before has never been dirty bad experience clean clean clean clean clean clean clean clean CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN clean
Spent the weekend while we looked at land to buy. Nice and clean, decent breakfast, quiet, friendly staff. I chose this hotel because I teach online and it got good reviews for internet. It did not disappoint. Also had a nice little desk in the room for me to use. Staff was super friendly. Will definitely stay here again!
I don't have small children, but if I did, this is the place to stay, neat little playground, love the tree! Interesting room set up around the pool area, there is a window in the room opening to the hallway. Thought it would be noisy, it was not; would have loved staying here when kids were little, especially with family and friends. Pretty cool black out shades on the window facing outside (they work beautifully lol). They take Covid precautions seriously. The young woman who took my reservation over the phone was extremely helpful and pleasant. Room very clean, bathroom spotless. Beds and bedding very comfortable. Highly recommend, would stay again, great price/value. PS: only $10 for pet fee.
Hotel rooms were great but service was less than good, the 2 people I spoke to seemed to be not responsible for anything related to their jobs, then failed to follow the hotels own rules with covid!!!
We came up here to luddington to install a hardwood floor. Best western checked us right in late at night with no issues the rooms were perfect and the breakfast was amazing. 10 out of 10 top notch service!
The rooms could be a little bigger. Our bathroom was really small and cramped. Had to have door closed to take a shower. Couldnt fit two people in the bathroom at the same time. Too small for the price you pay.
We stayed here the night before taking the ferry. Not many choices for hotels in Ludington. The rate was ok for an older property. The bed was not comfortable. The linens were paper thin and needed replacing. One towel had very little "terry". The property could use an update. Great locataion if taking the ferry.
Had a great 2020 NYE night at the hotel. The Covid friendly breakfast had a lot of choices and the hotel was very clean and kept up. I was allowed to have early check in which was great because we arrived early and had no where else to go!
Easy to make reservations and easy check in and check out. Staff very helpful and friendly. Clean rooms. The breakfast options were good considering they had to follow COVID-19 rules for food service.
We stayed the night before taking the SS Badger across Lake Michigan. There were three of us and we booked a two bedroom/one bath room; it had a king-sized bed in one room and two double or queen beds in the main room. A refrigerator (no freezer), microwave and coffee maker were in the main room, on a kitchen-type counter. Check in was easy and staff was masked up (as were we). Clear signage on all doors requiring the wearing of masks in halls and common areas. There is plenty of parking and a nice playground, including a merry-go-round. The immediate odor in the hallway was rather off-putting, I'm sure (I hope!) it was a cleaning product. The room, though, was worse, with a very heavily scented product which we traced to a ‘plug-in' in the bathroom. We removed it and that helped, but the smell still hit you everytime you came in the room. The hotel was quiet at night and the rooms had darkening shades. Beds were medium-comfortable (a bit too soft for me). Pillows the standard “chewed up” foam, I'm happy I brought my own. This was an accessible room on the first floor with a fairly large bathroom but a tiny shower (lots of grab bars, not a lot of space). My main complaint is of the strongly scented air—not sure what they are trying to cover up (air conditioner was a bit musty smelling). The “free breakfast” in the morning were microwaveable sandwiches that were horrible, we didn't eat them and went out for breakfast instead.
Stayed here overnight before taking the ferry to Wisconsin. The rooms were obviously cleaned and sanitized, so we felt very safe. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Bathroom, like 99% of all hotels, is small, but that is to be expected. The bed was very comfortable. A tad noisy of people above us, but hard to control that. Highly recommend this property when staying in Ludington.
Stayed here for the first time while in ludington. Big family trip they accommodated all of us and kept us together which was nice, friendly staff, clean rooms, bathrooms and showers could be updated. Great pool area, kids loved it. It's open now. Would stay here again.
We used this motel to stay overnight before travelling to Wisconsin on the S.S. Badger. Very nicely appointed and only a couple of miles from the boat dock. Plenty of "name" restaurants are near by. This fact may come in handy as motels in Michigan (not just this one) that offer breakfast are rather limited in what they can offer. Price is pretty competitive with other chain motels in the area. Very enjoyable place to stay!
The hotel has a nice outdoor sitting area by a playground to enjoy the nice weather. It's in a great location close to the lake and a Walmart. Check-in was quick and staff was friendly. I was very surprised to find a hotel room with 3 beds which was very nice surprise! I was not impressed with the lighting throughout the hotel hallways. It was extremely dim, not fresh and bright. The room smelled very old and not fresh. I would probably not stay here again because of the lighting and smell.
Our northern Michigan trip was almost over....and after another route 31 diversion, it was a serendipiteous moment to find ourselves closer to the hotel than anticipated. Great stuff. The hotel was very accessible and an inviting playground almost...almost made me wish we'd taken grandkids along.
The hotel was taking Covid precautions, masks were worn by every employee we encountered and sanitizer was available for guest use at the front desk. The pool was closed and breakfast was limited (packaged pastries, coffee, fruit, yogurt). The hotel did have outdoor play equipment for kids, a nice shaded deck with tables/chairs, and shuffleboard outside. The location is not downtown, but a short ride to the beach, restaurants, and State Park.
Hotel was nice. Clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable. Enjoyed sitting and visiting on the outside deck sitting area. Breakfast was grab and go and pool was closed due to Covid-19, though the pool looked nice.
Rolanda and Sarah were very accommodating and friendly during check in and checkout. They charge 10.00 per dog per night to stay. What we hated was the cigarette stands being right in front of all of the entrance ways and in front of the building. Almost every time my family and I went outside there was someone at the doors or in front of the building smoking. I'm sorry but they should smoke as far away from the building. Our room had some old dirty candy that my toddler found by the bunk bed. And we found something dirty by the nightstand in the queen bathroom
Hotel was very nice, clean and convenient to everything. Pool was closed because of Covid (wish it would have said that on website) and no breakfast for same reason. Was told they would have fruit, yogurt and maybe granola bars, didn't see anything when we went down the next morning. Bed and pillows good and room was clean. Would stay again.
Spent one night at this property. Check in was efficient and precautions taken to be clean and social distancing. Hand sanitizer readily available. Room was very clean; extra items had been removed. The only thing I would suggest that perhaps the tv remote should be enclosed in something or sign to indicate it had been sanitized. We brought our own , so it wasn't a problem for us. Breakfast was offered with many individual wrapped items, coffee and juice. There was an attendent on duty to assist if needed. All employees and guests we saw were wearing masks. We felt very safe staying here and feel this property is doing their best to keep clients safe.
Great place to stay. Friendly staff. Very clean. With the covid going on tree they were always wiping stuff down. Safety of customers was a top priority. Great location to stores restaurants and only a few miles to downtown and close to lake michigan.
The indoor pool was too cold. Other than that, the stay was great! There's also a pool table, point pong table for entertainment. Play ground outdoors for children (weather permitting). Room was clean
Good location, pleasant staff, good breakfast. The staff was very nice to deal with. The room was clean with all the usual amenities, coffee pot, microwave and fridge. The room temperature was easy to control and quite comfortable.
Over all nice hotel for the price especially if you get the member rate. Room and hotel was decently clean and this was the most important factor to me. Loved the fact that they had some games like air hockey, pool table, ping pong table to play and do other than just a pool. I really didn't like the fact that the sink was in the main part of the room seperated from the bathroom. Had to keep going back and forth from the bathroom to the sink area. No place in the bathroom to put things needed while showering like clothes and stuff.
We used points for a free night and were pleasantly surprised to get the best room in the house...a two bedroom suite! Immaculately clean and pleasantly decorated. The staff there were very nice, especially Ann, the breakfast attendant. She was on top of things, to put it mildly! Very professional and friendly to guests. The breakfast options are actually quite nice, definitely more than the usual hotel fare. All in all, a very relaxing two day visit to the Ludington/Manistee Area. I highly recommend this establishment!
My investment actvities take me across the Midwest. Ludington lake winds hotel is the best mid priced option anywhere in Western Michigan. Highly recommended when you travel in that area, Very clean, polite staff.
Very nice hotel. Was clean. Breakfast area was nice, food was nice selection. pool area clean. Staff was nice. Lounge area nicely decorated for the holidays. The WiFi was slow. They keep parking lot clean and safe.
Do to the bad weather. We had no electricity at home for 3 days. However we checked out every day and went home hoping for the electricity to come back on the front desk was great and very helpful and understanding the rooms are very clean and up to date the WiFi worked well. The breakfast had a lot of choices. I would recommend this place.
A very nice hotel! When u enter the lobby there's a massage chair in the waiting area and to the right there's a little convience store with a cooler that have beverages for sale which was really nice to get a Diet Coke for 1.00! There was a few postcards and other souvenirs to buy! Check in was very easy and they were very friendly! Next to the front desk there was a game room that had ping pong tables and then a arcade! They had a fairly good size pool ! The rooms were very nice and beds were comfy ! In your room was a sink separate from bathroom was nice that two people could get ready at same time ! In the morning breakfast is included they had a nice hot buffet !a nice place to stay and not to far from Lake Michigan. Sign up for Best western rewards and maybe get some money off the room ! It saved me 20.00 and I earned points to save towards free room ! I would stay here again!
This hotel is amazing for it being opening day for deer it was quiet. The pool was nice not cold the lady at the front desk makes you feel like home away from home. The breakfast was yummy and hot with a variety of things of your pickings
Easy to find, Close access to Big Box stores. A 5 minute drive to downtown Ludington. Very clean and well kept. What a great little town to visit. Don't forget to dine at the House of Flavors in downtown Ludington and Sportsmans Irish Bar
Great location and very friendly staff. Our 3rd Visit here covering 4-5 years, always a good experience. This time the roof is being replaced and they asked us to understand the mess and noise....didn't really notice. Will always stay when goin through the Ludington area. Breakfast really good also....very clean.
We stayed at this hotel for my daughters birthday. The pool was great, it looked like there was a sauna and game room also (we didn't get a chance to use). Overall the rooms were good. Normal beds, layout, bathroom, tv, microwave & mini fridge (extremely wobbly but worked). The only major complaint was that the window had black mold on it.. maybe due to temp changes this time of the year. Breakfast was great - we're vegetarian and this hotel had a lot more options than most. The ladies running the breakfast were fantastic! Super friendly and when we mentioned it was our daughters birthday, they remembered the following morning and brought out a donut with a candle and some candies. So sweet of them and definitely made our stay memorable!! No major noise complaints which is always a concern with our toddler. They were redoing the roof but my husband talked with the lobby staff when checking in and was able to get us a room farthest away from where they were working so that wasn't an issue. The playground outside is another plus for kids! We would recommend if staying in the area.
We stayed at Best Western Lakewinds last night. We received excellent service; all of the staff members were helpful and very friendly to everyone in our group. We were very happy with the pool and playground. I used the workout room and it was very nice; all equipment worked well. The kids also enjoyed playing ping pong (you can borrow paddles and balls from the front desk). My only suggestion: if you (or your kids) are light sleepers request a room away from the lobby. We were in 116 and the ping pong table was right outside our room. I don't know what time ping pong stops, but at 10:45pm players were still going strong. Thankfully my kids can sleep through anything. :)
Easy to access motel. Pool area is nicely insulated from guest rooms around the perimeter. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Amenities are usual bW - but I suggest bringing your own shampoo, conditioner and lotion as they only supplied shampoo and it was quite thick.
Everything was great! Very clean, good breakfast, perfect room for our situation. Traveling with our 2 80+ yr old Moms. There was something for everyone at the breakfast and the room was very nice. We were pleasantly surprised.
you would have to drive to see any sights. The room was clean. There was a pool and a hot tub. Bathroom super small. This would be perfect for a family hotel. Nice little playground outside. Game room and treat machines. Comfort seating outside, could grill. plenty of restaurants around.
The room is large, but the bathroom is tiny. No space for 2 people to get ready. This king bed was super comfortable and huge. The pillows were wimpy though. No hair conditioner and no lotion in the room, just shampoo. There is a playground, doggie area and picnic area for guests.
One elevator located at the back of building and they put us in a room over the lobby(no elevator) and kitchen. No way to get the cart up two stairs to get to the room. Cut a hole in the wall for a “window” that overlooked the entrance area between the outside and lobby. Unbelievable. Heard every cabinet slam and switch when preparing for 6:30 breakfast.
We arrived in Ludington at 7 PM after arriving on the ferry from Wisconsin. Very comfortable king bed, comfy pillows, and plenty of towels in the bathroom. There were 2 pesky little bugs flying around which we couldn't catch. Got an excellent night's sleep, and enjoyed a hearty breakfast at 6 am the next morning before checking out for our trip to Mackinaw City. Plenty of free parking. Fridge and microwave in the room.
Had a one night sleepover here, and were mostly happy with our stay. We had a two bedroom suite, but would prefer that there was a seating area in such a big room, instead of just beds. Otherwise the room was average. Pool area and a nice playground for the kids is however on the positive side. Breakfast was mediocre and the same with the service level. The hotel is quite large. All in all cost vs products returns a average value for money.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Answered all our questions. Very helpful.. very clean room and comfortable king bed. Excellent breakfast. I highly recommend this place. The price was very reasonable.
The owners have invested in this property. Rooms are modern with good firdge and microwave. Excellent new mattresses. The breakfast was very good and breakfast staff very friendly and clean. The building was made to make it as quiet as possible. Compliments!
Stayed here one night on our way to Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Had not stayed in a Best Western for a long time and we were very impressed with the upgrades! Comfortable clean beds, clean bathrooms with good water pressure. I requested extra pillows at our reservation and when we checked in there they were! This has never happened at the usual chain we stay at. The breakfast was very good and loved the Belgian waffle maker, even a mini waffle maker. The county fair was going on across the street, our room was quiet but about 9 pm the hotel filled up with teens, taking over the pool and hot tub completely. There should be some enforcement of age limit in the hot tub as there were very little children in there with their parents. Some of the rooms face the pool and I would not have wanted to be in one of them that night. Will check out Best Western elsewhere in our travels.
Good location several amenities that would be good for families. Elevator location was not very convenient for our room location. Overall would stay again. Even though it was right off main road and we had front room it was very quite and easy to sleep in room.
The hotel was just ok but a bit pricey for what we got. The room was clean and in good order but there was an obvious smell of cigarette smoke. We called the front desk and they said they would let housekeeping know but were not given an option to change rooms. The pool was cold and crowded. The hot tub was a decent size. We enjoyed the breakfast they had which was included in the price. Overall I think I would stay at the Holiday Inn Express next time.
The employee at the front desk was rude to us in the pool area. She was not polite asking us to leave. We are adults not children. When I asked her to be more polite she said it again in a smart ass way.
I love this hotel, my favorite place to stay with family for traveling. Great staff and comfortable experience is wonderful. The management team and breakfast staff were friendly and went above the average hospitality service during our stay with Best Western.
Clean, Friendly, Good Food, Staff is amazing, Price is right. This is a hotel we stay at every time we go to Ludington. Easy to find, of the many hotels in the area we have found this Best Western at the top of our list..
Couldn't ask for any more clean people were kind food was good relaxing convenient cozy made our trip enjoyable it's a great get away from home a trip on the badger to and fro the warm northern air the hydrangeas light houses beaches really nice place to see while on the way to torch lake for a few days .
We stayed one night at this location after a ferry ride from Manitowoc to Ludington. The hotel was clean and our room was great. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful.
We stayed here one night on our 35 day road trip. This hotel needs some rehab and renovation. The room was ok but it was tired. The mattress was just ok. We did not eat breakfast as it was not included for some reason in our rate of $122 and it was a cheap buffet that would not have cost them anything else for us to partake. The fitness center was small and very limited in equipment and space.
Well appointed and comfortable rooms, beds and bedding, great breakfasts, nice pool and recreation areas, family friendly, pleasant and helpful staff, reasonably priced, convenient location. This was our fifth stay and we always recommend this hotel to friends traveling to Ludington.
We took the car ferry from Manitowoc to Ludington, and wanted a hotel close to the dock as we were arriving at 7 pm, and knew we'd want to drop bags and then get some dinner. The Best Western is a couple of miles from the center of town, but easily accessible. The rooms (particularly the bathroom) are a bit dated but the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a mini-fridge and a microwave. We didn't have time to use the indoor pool and spa, but the pool appeared well-maintained. There is also a game room, a video arcade, and an outdoor playground for the kiddos. The hot breakfast includes eggs, sausage, cheese omelets, and waffles, as well as the usual pastries and cereals. The pillows and towels are a bit wimpy, but about what I would expect for a 2.5 star hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
We are in our early 70s and this hotel put us in room number 205 which is directly outside the sign that never goes off. The road is probably 25 feet away from our room. I can say in all honesty it was the worst experience I've had ever at a best Western Hotel
Very nice place, clean well maintained. Good breakfast in the morning and they do not skimp on it during the weekday. They have a nice pool and hot tube, but the hot tub could use a better jet motor. Plenty of outdoor spaces including a play ground for the kids and a couple of grills
When I booked our room over the phone, I knew I was getting a suite, but I did not know it would be overlooking the indoor pool. The pool made for a lot of evening noise, but that died out around 9:00 and did not impact our sleep. The room was spacious and had a nice lounge chair and sofa. There was a fireplace, but we had no interest in using it on the 85-degree day we visited.
Strange layout for this hotel. It's like there were 2 additions attached to the back, and the front section of the hotel was built around the swimming pool (reminiscent of the old Holidome concept of the late 70') Also the idea of having a pool table and ping pong table in the breakfast area, distracting young kids was not thought out. That bring said, the hotel was clean, comfortable, and selection and quality of items served for breakfast was very good.
We splurged and got the two-room family suite for our stay with our grandson at the end of our Michigan vacation. It was a great fit for us!! And we were in the room at the end of the hall--very quiet! Clean, spacious rooms, comfortable bedding, too. And I was so pleased that there were FOUR big, fluffy bath towels in the bathroom! The pool here is outstanding. Again, a clean atmosphere, lots of towels available at 9 AM. I am just sorry that the pool doesn't open earlier (6 AM would be ideal, 7 would be OK) so that you can have a nice swim before breakfast. The breakfast was nicely done, a good variety of selections. It was busy at the hotel, but there was always seating in either the breakfast room of an auxiliary location. I booked this hotel after reading reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. I hope we can stay here again sometime.
Hotel was great. Fixed a few problems we had very quickly. Pool was fun for the kids and clean. The only complaint I could have is the cost of the suite we were in, pretty expensive, but it was over the 4th of July, so I guess it's understandable. Just felt that the price was high.
They work very hard on keeping this hotel in good shape. Rooms are very clean, smell good. New beds with sheets that fit! New HD tvs also. The only concern is, that the last two years they've doubled the 4th of July prices. But I like the hotel andwill pay the price.
It's the only Hotel in Ludington that I will stay, The staff is very professional, they have always gone out of there way to accommodate me, It's very quiet, clean and safe, Prices are reasonable, I would recommend this Best Western to anyone staying in the area.
Stayed one night; had 2 queen beds I'm sure the standard size for a basic room. We had a bit of a wait to check in, nobody at the front desk when we arrived - no sign or what not...but once she did come she did apologize and was nice to deal with. Room was clean and neat. Fridge wasn't held down very well, every time someone went to open the door the whole fridge came out and almost off the slot it was in..kind of dangerous. TV was nice and worked well, bathroom was clean. The one thing that was really bad was that with the bed so close to the wall, one could not see part of the middle bedrail sticking out, it was covered by the bedding, which my daughter caught with the top of her foot trying to get into bed. I quickly put ice on her foot to calm the swelling, but was tender for the rest of our trip. We're not ones to complain so we tried to move it in so it wasn't sticking out, it didn't budge and we tried to move he mattress over, but it was securely in place. We put pillows overs it so that it wouldn't happen again. My husband said we should have demanded a new room, but it was late and we were all tired and wanted to veg for the evening. So we just left the next morning, but after waiting for a person to come we told the lady upon check out, I even showed her pictures, she did ask if our daughter was alright. I told her she was banged up and I had been putting ice on it. All she did was take down our room number and said "we'd have to have that fixed" That's it, which I thought was odd...but again, I didn't care to make a fuss, we had an early morning to catch the car ferry. I'm just shocked the cleaning person didn't notice it in the first place! So make sure you check around your beds for things sticking out!! Yikes!! I did contact the hotel afterward, which they sent their regrets for the situation and gave us a phone number to call if we wanted to pursuit. I guess, I feel like it's too late for it all, and it could have been handled better probably both ways...but lets just say we learned our lesson on what to look for. So with all that we didn't get to use the pool and did not get to partake of the breakfast as we just didn't have time to eat but it all looked good. Parking was nice as well.
Donna was the hostess for the breakfast time. She went above and beyond in her service. She anticipated the needs, whether it was help in carrying items or moving tables together for seating needs - she was there. Her joyful spirit and kindness made our morning! Rooms were clean, staff were helpful, all around made for a wonderful stay.
Clean hotel, beds were comfortable, good breakfast selection, Donna was very attentive to everyone and went out of her way to see that you were having a good start to your day. Fairly close to everything, short drive to the beach.
The room was comfy and clean. Great staff. Loved the fact that the pool is closed to kids after a certain time. The room was quiet and cool and I appreciated how close the location is to town amenities, yet far from the crowds.
Decent place, friendly staff. Good amount of options for breakfast. Pool and hot tub were nice. Apparently every June Ludington has a big basketball thing going on (Gus Macker) & the hotel was very full and lots of younger people. We've stayed at least 3 other times here but never during the basketball tournament... I can say we never will again during that tournament. It got quite loud in there even later into the night. However, we will definitely stay again. Now that we know mid June is that tournament, we'll just avoid that weekend.
We were up here for a friends getaway. Hotel has a nice indoor pool and hot tub. They also have a pool table, ping pong and a small video game room. Breakfast was good...eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, waffles and lots of other items. Rooms were nice and clean. Pillows were a little small but beds were comfortable. There is also playground equipment outside for kids. Hotel is a short drive to town as well as beaches. Really liked all the sitting areas on hotel as well as the rocking chairs outside to have coffee on the morning!
It's always enjoyable and great for large groups or personal get away love the massage chair in the lobby free for guests over 18! Also the hot tub and pool are always relaxing as well breakfast is wonderful and a large selection to choose from daily
My family had a great stay. We were in the area visiting family. It was not peak season and still quite cold so much or our time was spent in the pool. The pool temperature was comfortable and the hot tub was great. We liked that there was an adult only time built into the pool schedule. Only complaint was that every time we needed towels in the pool area they were out. The Continental breakfast had many choices. Even my picky eater found something to eat. Staff was nice and helpful.
Very nice place to stay I drive a truck I stay at hotels very often two to three times a week this is a very nice one and this is not management this is a truck driver that does staying a lot of hotels I'm sure all the other reviews are excellent for this Vice
We had a great stay. Breakfast was plentiful and so many options. Ann and Cathy were very personable and helpful. The pool area was busy with other guests but we still enjoyed our time in there. We will be back!
2 sided story...the hotel is clean and orderly in the rooms and the hallways and the common areas, so good job there!! side 2--the fact that the kids rule the roost...no control on the screaming and running around until all hours of the night...mostly bad parenting with a little unwillingness to make the tough call on the part of the hotel...sub par breakfast that is promoted as if it is old country buffet...
My family and I stay here 1-2 times per year. Typically during winter months. The pool and pool room were much warmer than past visits, and the pool & pool room have been updated with glass in the surrounding which helped the temperature factor & keeps the sound in/out. Great breakfast as always, rooms are much less humid now and no smell of chlorine. Great stay, much improved since last visit.
While traveling around up north we decided to spend the night here. This is an older place but has been updated. The room was fine. The breakfast bar was a huge step up from the normal waffles and cereal. They have a yogurt bar! It was awesome. The yogurt machine was a surprise for sure. I hope more places get these.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, swimming pool and hot tub, pool and ping-pong tables, hot breakfast-- everything to make for a very enjoyable stay. Even the bed was comfortable. We could not have been happier with the quality of service and facilities.
We were camping in the area and our camper broke during set-up, we had to find a hotel at the last minute. We have been in a similar situation in the Ludington area before, and the Best Western was very helpful in giving us a great deal, so we headed back. Again we were offered a room at the last minute for a great low price. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, we were able to enjoy a delicious hot continental breakfast (eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy). I have never had a poor experience at a Best Western, I will continue to use Best Western when I travel, and recommend them to friends and family.
We spent a Saturday night at the Best Western in Ludington. Check in is 4pm which can create a bit of a line when checking in. There were 2 employees checking people in and a few couples ahead of us. Check in was like the whole experience at the Best Western Ludington was, indifferent. Our stay was very humdrum, nothing went wrong but nothing was memorable enough to encourage me to come back. Breakfast was very busy, not really enough table/chairs for the amount of guests. Waited a few to make a waffle and I had a biscuit with gravy. They do not have cranberry juice so apple it was. Just not in a hurry to comeback. Our room was clean but that was about it. The employees were not friendly but rather indifferent. Meh.
It was a very nice hotel! The staff were great and it was super clean. Breakfast was excellent and had lots of choices (hot and cold). One of the best hotel breakfasts I have had! The only thing my husband and I were disappointed in was the pool and hot tub. The pool was colder than a normal heated pool and the hot tub was not hot. I took a hotter shower than that in my room! Also, the jets in it were not strong..I wanted to relax my aching muscles from walking that day... other than that it was a great place to stay and I would stay again.
Well, we stayed in Best Westerns many times last year while visiting the west and found them to be very good. This one was not up to par with those hotels. The hotel had the pool in the center of the hotel making everything smell like chlorine. The door to our room would not lock without jiggling the door up and down and then back and forth to get it to lock. We reserved a non-smoking room and it smelled like cigarette smoke when we checked in. I used Lysol in the room and it did not help. The toilet had some sort of leak that made the tank fill approximately every two minutes. This hotel wants us to help save water by not washing our towels, but lets the toilet fill every two minutes. So, not much sleep. Breakfast needs some improvement and the room could use a deep cleaning. This hotel is no where near the lake.
We stayed at the best Western in Ludington Michigan. The rooms were clean and well stocked. We had a great Continental breakfast and there were several amenities we weren't expecting. Besides the indoor hot tub and pool there was also a pool table and ping pong available. There was a massage chair for adults, great Wi-Fi, and even a playground outside for the kids. The prices are reasonable and the service was very friendly. We would recommend to anyone, and especially the families with kids.
Worst hotel stay in years, did not have the room we reserved, said they would adjust rate but never did. Rooms are badly in need of updating and are just dreary. There has to be much better choices in Ludington.
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past several years, but no more. At one time they were very reasonable priced, had a cool waterslide by the pool, and offered shuttle service to and from the SS Badger dock. The waterslide was gone a few years back. I had planned to do a weekend getaway to Ludington with the family on the SS Badger later this month, called to make reservation and was told they no longer offer shuttle service to the Badger dock. The clerk I spoke with on the phone said "well, you can take a taxi.". I have a better idea, I'll find a hotel that cares more about serving its customers.
The room was quite comfortable, with nice décor. The hotel was older, but the rooms were updated. There is a large area for gathering with a pool table and comfy chairs. The pool area looked clean. The entrance is a covered area with a bank of rocking chairs along the building. The breakfast had many choices and was in a nice large area.
Hotel was run-down. Needed some real cleaning and elbow grease. Bathroom needed updating and major spring cleaning. Room was dark. Halls had not been sweep or vacuumed. Room prepared till we after we arrived, which was after normal check-in. Poor value for price.
Great hotel, loved the hot tub, pool & game area. Short drive to Lake Michigan beach. One of the best breakfast, with a great selection, eggs, sausage, bagels, waffles, and a yogurt machine. Highly recommend
My family enjoys staying here. Between the pool, which is always clean, and the playground, my daughters really enjoy their time here. The staff is polite and accommodating and the rooms are well kept. We will continue to stay here when in the Ludington area.
Close to everything, rooms clean and comfy, family friendly, smoking areas with benches. Breakfast bar was clean and well stocked. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Pool area was clean. Would definitely stay here again.
We have stayed here before and weren't disappointed. There is a nice indoor pool, hot tub and "recreation" room. There is also a nice area outside to sit on a deck, have a picnic while you watch the kids play on the playground.
This hotel is about a five minute drive from Lake Michigan. There was a Walmart 3/10 of a mile away, score! This hotel was about a five minute drive from Lake Michigan. There was a Walmart 3/10 of a mile away, score! the breakfast bar had anything and everything we could want; waffle maker, bagels, toast, biscuits, gravy, eggs, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, coffee, hot tea, yogurt, cereal, tiny muffins, pastries, sausage patties. Fresh fruit like apples bananas and oranges were also available. The staff was very accommodating and kind! Our beds were comfortable; our room's air-conditioner worked great no loud noises; we stayed on the second floor in room 224; the shower had great pressure and hot water! As we were in Michigan to see the lakes and sites we really only needed to be at the hotel to sleep although my husband and daughter did enjoy the hot tub and the pool. This of year, in July it was pretty busy as was to be expected. As the hotel was about booked this morning they did keep the breakfast bar bar open late to accommodate everyone which was great! PS. Our favorite part was the little packets of Nutella at the breakfast bar, yum!
This property offers a lot of neat features you don't see everywhere. The arcade, ping pong, pool & play place were nice. Dog biscuits at the desk for the 4-legged guests was sweet. Gift shop was very cute. We bought a deck of cards and enjoyed family time in our suite. Only downfall was breakfast, but that could've just been an off day. I'd still recommend this property to someone traveling to the Ludington area. It is a great property for traveling families. The massage chair for adults in the lobby was a nice touch as well. Tami M. at checkout was very polite and professional.
Hotel is very nice, but the front desk staff lacks professionalism. For instance, a phone call should be placed on hold when there is a line of guests waiting for service. Hskp was great. Clean. Pool and hot tub exactly what you'd hope for.
Clean place, comfy beds, good breakfast with plenty of options (waffles, scrambled eggs, omelets, Sausage, fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, toast, bagels, coffee and tea) and friendly staff. Stayed in June 18 , July 18 and will likely return in August or September 2018
The overall rating was very good, the room was clean, the breakfest was good, loved the massage chair in the lobby. Just a few things, the security spotlight was shinning right in our bedroom window which hindered sleep and the bathroom, to be shared with two bedrooms, was very small.
We stayed in this hotel before catching the SS Badger ferry. The pool area is quite nice. There were about 4 families using the pool when we were there, but it didn't feel crowded. The free breakfast was good. There were waffles, hot item choices, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. Our room, however, was awful. We were in an odd location behind the check-in desk (room 101). It was like 20 feet from the highway and VERY noisy. One of the outdoor spotlights shone right in my room's window. I could have read a book with the amount of light in my room. The room slept 6, but had a TINY, awkwardly shaped bathroom that didn't fit more than one person at a time. I felt like they put us in some kind of overflow room. It was really bad.
Pleasant staff at this facility. Room was good (although the bathroom door would not close tightly). Walls were a bit thin...as noises from other rooms was discernible. We especially enjoyed the outdoor sitting area. Nice extra facilities...the pool and activities room...
We stayed overnight in Ludington because we were taking the ferry across Lake Michigan the next morning. The hotel was clean; staff friendly. Nothing stands out as outstanding, but there was nothing deficient either. The desk clerk gave us some interesting suggestions for dinner. We followed up on one of them and had a fun dinner. The city is beautiful. Wish that we had time to see more of it. Pleasant stop.
The stay was great. The room was clean the hospitality was awesom. The breakfast presentation was nice and host was friendly and polite. I felt very welcome. The hallways smelt fresh and they were clean. The whole visit was nice
Rooms were roomy, very clean, odor free. Air unit worked well. Nice indoor pool and hot tub. Grounds of the hotel offer picnic tables and a small play area for small kids. Staff was very pleasant. Breakfast had good choices.
This hotel's customer service is Horrible. Five minutes after checking in we run some water in the sink. Water leaks everywhere underneath the sink. Go to speak with customer service desk and they offered extra towels to soak up the water but that there's nothing they can do unless we want to up grade to another room for an additional $60.00. The room has a musty smell due to the obvious ignored problem. Can't really offered to upgrade and there are no other hotel to check into.
We stayed at the Best Western Lakewinds a few days ago. We were very pleased with our room, location, and breakfast. I would stay here again. We were not downtown, but it was not far to drive. We drove to Stearns Beach (city beach) and it is rated the #1 beach in Michigan. It was beautiful! We walked the pier to the lighthouse, and then drove to the sand dunes. Very quaint town. I would stay here again.
I have stayed at many BW motels and this one falls near the bottom. Checking in was a disappointment. The people in front of me paid $99 for their room while mine was 118. I asked for the same price but was told it's not available. No other reason was given so I felt short changed here. The problems continued because there was no soap in the room so we had to go back to the front desk for that. The morning continental breakfast was very marginal. The orange juice machine was broken and the fruit selection was very poor. The door to our room did not latch unless you stood there and pulled it shut. The first time we left the room it was unlocked for quite a while until I figured out what was happening. There were several other relatively small details regarding the room that had not been attended to by the management. I would have rated this a 1 except the lady at the front desk was very pleasant and tried to be of service.
We stayed in a few different places this trip. BW had a Sunday night special so we took advantage of it. What a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was filling and tasty. This was our last night before a long drive home. The pool and hot tub were a nice treat after a long work week and before a long drive home. Also, the massage chair in the lobby was nice (would be nicer if it didn't face the setting sun. It is hard to see the controls or fully relax with the sun in your eyes). We will definitely plan a stay here again.
Spent three nights here for business. Room was clean and the bed is comfy. Good value for the price. It is the off season. I do hear the price gets really high during peak summer season so be careful. Only issue is can hear neighbors conversations clearly.
Beds were so comfortable, glad to see they have an elevator now. Ann at breakfast was so friendly and Sarah and Tami at the front desk were helpful and courteous. My friends and I will be back very soon!
Nice hotel. Stayed for a family get away. Kids loved the pool and the game room. Also ping pong and pool games in the lobby. Nice breakfast and fast wifi. Nice location. Walmart acrossed the street. Friendly staff.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Ludington that is not a mom and pop hotel/motel, stay here but don't be impressed with it. This is your most average boring hotel out in the middle of the country, my advice would be stay up in Manistee or elsewhere where there are more options.
We have stayed at this hotel many times and love it. My kids love the pool and I love the hottub. The breakfast is great and satisfying. The rooms are great. I would recommend this if you are in the Ludington area.
I liked the pool and hot tub. The rooms where small and the elevator broke . Food was ok they have a small game room. Dog friendly but you hav to pay extra for your dog. Nice people that work there and they have a Massaging chair for adults it is nice
If you're planning on staying at a hotel for the purpose of getting some sleep at the end of the day, or if you're not a fan of having a ping pong ball land in your breakfast plate, OR, if you want to avoid getting out of bed every 90 minutes to try to get the heater/air conditioner to work, then avoid this place at all costs. This is the first review I've left for a hotel, but felt compelled to for the reasons outlined above. MUCH nice hotels up the street at 65% of the cost.
Black chunks frozen in the ice out of the ice machines. Room fine and appeared clean. Rest of hotel was clean. Breakfast was fine, although they didn't offer cereal, muffins, or bagels, not sure if those are supposed to be daily items or not.
In the end this was nothing more than a place to spend the night and continue our fall vacation. Too far from downtown or anything within walking distance. VERY confusing layout as far as parking and getting bags to the room! It appears that this hotel had additions made a few years ago to extend capacity (which is noted by the former exterior finish inside the hallways on the easting second floor. Hot tub/jacuzzi was filthy. Staff was friendly although a bit inexperienced when we checked in. Only one of our two door keys worked, and it appeared that a large construction crew had been staying here for a few weeks. They were loud, came in late and left early. Breakfast was good, plenty of options and made the stay a bit more palatable. We had booked at the last minute based on "Pet-Friendly" accommodations in the area. Overall, you get what you pay for.
Very friendly staff. A very good breakfast and plenty to chose from like waffles, eggs, sausage, sweet rolls and other items. Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The area was very clean and the water was very relaxing.
Our family went camping, but unfortunately our tent failed during a terrible storm. We stayed at the Best Western. The lady at the front desk was very nice and accommodating since it was 4:30AM and we were desperate. The room was nice. However, the next day they kicked us out even though they knew our situation. We asked if we could stay a bit to use the pool, but the new lady at the front desk said no. Even though the hotel was empty and we could have showered in their locker room. She needs to work on her customer service skills!
Our stay at the BW was made memorable due to 2 wonderful employees prior to our arrival. Ms. Iesha was wonderful with my phone call. I had not done a reservation before and she guided me through it, making me very comfortable with confirming our stay. Ms.Tami received a phone call, from me, the day of our family stay. I mentioned that I was looking for a florist near the hotel to surprise my wife. She advised that she knew someone and that she would take care of that for me. Come to find out later that all the florist in the area closed early and that she went to a store to help me keep the weekend special. BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS. My 3 children enjoyed their stay and my wife enjoyed her sleep in times. Will stay here again when in the area.
I only had a day to visit with many task with my activities. The staff provides excellent service and friendly attitudes. I had to do my laundry and the front clerk helped in providing coins, guided me where to with the machine, etc. This made my task so much easier to accomplish.I really enjoyed my stay here as always!
Celebrating our anniversary and I would recommend this place to stay regardless of what you have in the area. Great pool and hot spa, very good breakfast. Clean and spacious room. No problems or concerns at all.
We stay here 1-2 times per year. Much to our pleasant surprise, our room was updated! Very spacious, clean, fresh smelling. Breakfast was great as always. Pool and hot tub decent. Will continue to book here when visiting family in the area!
We had a very nice stay at the Best Western Lakewinds in Ludington Michigan. Very clean and quiet. Helpful staff and friendly. Lots of amenities offered. Complimentary breakfast, pool table, ping pong table, indoor pool, hot tub. Nice lobby to sit and relax.
Was not happy with this BW. I need a bar next to the toilet, and the girl (who seemed very young, and working alone) did not understand my need and did not even know if such a room was available or where it might be located. I know this was a lower rate but you didn't need to skimp on the extras (like soap, etc.). Made do, but would not return.
Very pleasant staff and very professional. They were informational and knowledgeable about the surrounding new attractions. The breakfast items were fresh and the wait staff greeted us with smiles! Loved It!
We'd made reservations here because we had plans to travel on the SSBadger the following morning. The first thing we noticed when we opened the room door was an overwhelming smell of mold. We hoped the air conditioning would clean the air, but no such luck. The bed was comfortable, the room was attractive and quiet, but we did not rest well because of the smell. Breakfast was OK. We would probably not stay here again although it was conveniently located.
Very nice stay and area. Staff was VERY helpful and accommodating. Front desk servicewoman was very helpful when asked where there was a good restaurant to go to as well. Would stay again if ever through that area.
The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was helpful and friendly upon check in. There were only some small issues that I had to endure during my stay but nothing to become irate about. From what little time I had with the room, I enjoyed my stay and the bed was comfortable.
Every time my husband and myself go to Ludington we stay at Best Western Lakewinds. The staff is excellent the rooms are clean the breakfast is amazing. Check -in is fast and easy, just the same for check-out. The hotel is close to the expressways and to downtown Ludington.. The price is right and the rewards are also worth while. Great Hotel! We will stay here again and again..
couldn't turn air down, very hot in the room and noisy. drain in the sink and bath tub did not work shower was above ankle deep by the end of shower it sucked what more can i say left early because the breakfast was nasty !
Have been staying at Best Westerns for 4 years now & have never had a bad experience. Beds are always comfortable, rooms are clean. Employees are always polite and helpful. Price is sometimes alittle on the high side.
love this place for family and rest very comfortable and enjoyable love the hot tub and fitness room for walking and relaxing nice friendly service very accommodating have enjoyed my stay each time they also have a massage chair in the lobby for guest use
It was great service and a great room with amenities. Only complaint is I didn't get to use my chrome cast because the wifi wouldn't let me. Pool was nice and the room with the jacuzzis in the room were clean and in good working order.
We stay here multiple times every summer. Everyone is very kind helpful and welcoming. BW offers a great breakfast. Always has fresh coffee. Is close to all ludington has to offer and we look forward to our time here every summer!
Front staff was not helpful at all. You could tell she hated her job. The window was next to a field and I did not feel safe because there was stick in the window to keep someone from getting in. The room had a strange smell. It was also tiny and so was the bathroom. The bathroom had places where the wall had been patched and not even the paint matched Bathroom was in need of a serious update. Very poor value for the money.
As always we enjoyed our stay and will be back the next time we are in Ludington. The staff is friendly and helpful. The outside playground area is nice for all ages. My favorite is the massage chair in the lobby and it's free!!!!
Hotel was nice, if a bit outdated. It looked like they might have been renovating the hallway, there were tiles missing from the ceiling. Room was clean. Staff was friendly & helpful. There was a nice grassy area for walking our dogs.
We stayed here one night after crossing the lake on the Badger. Check-in was good, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was OK. We have stayed here before, after trying other local motels, and will return.
The room was very musty smelling but it was clean. The bed was great but the smell was not. I wasn't in my room much so it wasn't a big deal. This was an older building where they added the outer rooms to enclose the hotel so it's not an outside access hotel. There is a nice indoor pool and breakfast area but the hotel is a crazy set up with 3 floors and stairs in weird places . Overall it was fine idk if I would stay there again. The first time I had an outside room and it didn't smell as musty.
Nice sized room and comfortable bed. Clean, except for around the edges of the bathroom floor. Same picture framed on two facing walls - really? But overall, it was fine for a night's stay. Pretty basic.
On initial view, I was worried that the place was going to be "one of those" bug infested types. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately we were about the only people there that night and they stuck me in a room with a view of the dumpsters and a brick wall, which was a bit of a disappointment. The breakfast was sparse as well. There was no protein and all the cereals were sweetened.
We have stayed here in the past & this trip was no different Rooms are clean and quiet Beds are nice Pool & hot tub, ping pong table & pool table good for all to enjoy Outdoor play area for the little ones too Typical breakfast food
We had come to Ludington from Manitowoc on the SS Badger. The experience we had at this place was excellent. They have a very good, friendly and helpful staff. In the area were also a number of places to eat if you wanted more than breakfast.
This is an old and outdated, musky smelling hotel. Our room smelt horrible. We had to open the windows to get the smell out. It smelt like wet carpet and mold. The ceiling in the bathroom was peeling and falling down. The bed was horrible to sleep in. Like a foam mattress on a board.
This place was pretty clean and neat. It had a nice pool and hot tub which my husband and I went in. They also accepted pets. That is usually why we stay at a Best Western. The breakfast was okay. There were just too many people there and not enough seats. Everything was so crowded. They also serve the same food every single day. It would be nice if they had some variety. The Wifi sucked. We could rarely pick it up when we were on the property. I think this place was way too expensive for what you got.
This is a clean Hotel, Breakfast is included, When we booked it said no elevator, It was 3 floors. When we checked in I asked for 1st floor and found out they just installed a elevator. We would stay there again
The hotel was decent, no working elevator though so we were only able to get one accessible room on the first floor and had to get a regular room also. The accessible room although it looked nice it smelled of mildew and all who stayed in that room had sinus issues during our stay. Breakfast was just ok, dry biscuits, and bagels etc. The staff at check in were very nice and efficient.
Amazing staff, extremely clean rooms, and delicious breakfast make this location enjoyable every time! We are return customers of this location and they continually improve year after year. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does!!
Room was clean, bed comfortable except for little square pillows they are uncomfortable, check in and out went smoothly and there was a refrigerator in the room. We didn't get the breakfast it was a large nice room which looked well stocked. We would stay again but would prefer different pillows for a good nights sleep
The staff was friendly. Hotel was clean. Breakfast buffet was very good--had many breakfast items including waffle maker and also a fresh yogurt maker! Hotel is very close to the boarding area of the Badger ferry. I thought the rate was a little high for the level of hotel, but seemed to be comparable to other hotels in the area and it is summer.
I found the Best Western Lakewinds to be a very good stay considering how busy summer in Northern Michiagn is. We were here for a wedding, and were able to use the upstairs "party" room after the ceremony. It was very nice and functional. The breakfast was good, and our room (134) was clean and pleasant. I would stay here again.
Hotel was acceptable but we experienced issues with hotel wi-fi network which could not be resolved during our stay. We were sorry it was so far out of the downtown area having just arrived on the SS Badger at 7 PM.
Hotel was clean, our king suite was beautiful, all the amenities were a bonus for a group with families, playground, game room, pool. We especially loved the message chair and surprisingly delicious ice cream bars!
A lovely stay at a recently renovated hotel. Appreciated the shower! The location was very convenient - close to bike path and State Park. Friendly employees. Being on one floor was great. All the appliances worked great - loved the Kurig coffee maker.
Hotel is in good location close to town and restaurants, room was not ready when we arrived(4:00pm) but we were given a substitute that worked just fine. room was clean and good size. Staff was very friendly and helpful, good breakfast buffet. Would return again.
The hotel overall is nice... Beds and room are nice except for the carpeting. The carpet is VERY DIRTY, to the point where, if you don't wear shoes in the room, your feet will become BLACK.. The breakfast is very good. The ladies do a great job and keeping up with the amount of people eating breakfast. The value for the hotel is a little high. There are cheaper hotels in the area.
Nice hotel friendly helpful staff , good location just out of town close to restaurants. Room was clean and comfortable and the Wi-Fi worked , front desk staff and breakfast buffet staff helpful and pleasant.
My family has stayed at the Best Western in Ludington 1-2 times a year for the last 7 years. We love the family friendliness of the property with the play ground, pool and arcade. And the kids love the free breakfast. This year we received a note in our room from housekeeping that the beds could not be made because there was stuff on them. Turns out our kids had left a few small stuff animals and their kindles on the beds. Upon further review it didn't appear that much in the room had been cleaned. I assume that since the hotel was full, they were looking to cut some corners. Really left a bad taste in our mouth about the whole property.
We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms were clean, had a fridge, breakfast was amazing! There was even a really nice playground and deck with picnic tables. Highly recommend.
The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Plenty of things to do to keep kids and adults entertained, including swimming pool, hot tub, small workout room, game room, pool table, ping pong table and play ground.
If you're catching the SS Badger in the morning, this is a great place to stay the night before. We've done this a few times now and have never been disappointed with the quality, comfort, and service this hotel offers.
This is more about the website. The way the pictures were taken for the website made the rooms seem deceptively larger than they actually are. We were in the 2 queen bed room. We had the addition of my 2 young nephews last minute and the space was definitely cramped for us. It was my mother, 16 month old, six year old, nine year old and me. We needed to rearrange the furniture so we would all fit with all our stuff. Everything else about our stay was wonderful.
I stayed one night, the room had a king bed and a day bed, the day bed mattress was terrible to sleep on, the springs in the mattress poked you in the back when you laid down. The bathroom had 2 doors, one door was a pocket door, this door had no handle to open or close, you had to reach under the bottom of the door to try and close it and still the door stayed 1 inch open, when you ran water in the bathroom sink, the water would not go down the drain, clogged. This was the worst room I have stayed in.
We made reservations by calling a couple of days before; I thought it a bit pricey, but decided to stay anyway. They accept pets, We always like to patronize hotels that do accept pets because we sometimes travel with a therapy dog.
Absolutely love this hotel! This is my second visit here, and will definitely be back again in the future. The hotel is so clean, and all the employees are so nice here. Our first morning breakfast, there was an older woman who ran the breakfast area, and she was so patient with my grandsons, as they took awhile to decide what they wanted. The next morning, we had two young ladies who had to work very hard, as the area was really busy, but they managed to keep everything full. The hotel has an arcade, which the boys loved, and the pool area is so nice,(although I was very disappointed they had taken the slide out of the pool area), but it is a really nice pool and hot tub. Hotel is close to everything, and we really enjoyed our stay!
the hotel achieves the comfort and satisfaction that makes you want to return. the staff is top notch, the amenities welcoming, and overall they deliver above expectation. that is a wonderful thing to experience.
I have to say the staff was wonderful, and the room quiet and bed comfortabe, but we had one problem after the next and I've never before stayed in a hotel room that had absolutely no windows--except one to the hall with a view of ... the hall!? It seemed dark & creepy. Could use some remodeling/refeshing. It did have a coffeemaker & fridge, and the entrance & meeting rooms looked nice. Maybe the other rooms were better. However, the breakfast was amazingly good...everything you can imagine and more. And the staff wonderful and helpful. Just not sure I'd stay there again...at least not in the creepy room.
We brought our grandchildren up for our annual kid's outing to Ludington. We love staying at the Best Western...our room was clean with comfortable beds, adequate towels, and generous amenities. The only thing missing was a microwave but they have one in the main lobby so all was good. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and had several picnics at their picnic/play area on grounds. We will definitely be back.
Check in and check out was smooth. The very young lady manning the desk at checkout asked all the correct questions and was very well trained. Room size was good, 2 queens. Heating/AC worked and the shower was warm. Breakfast area was large, spread out but selection of items was limited. They have done several remodels over the past 4 years and it shows. Pool table and ping pong ball table for you to spend with the family. Recommended.
Very clean rooms. The only downfall is the elevators were not operational at the time of my stay. The breakfast is good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Quick check in and out. Quiet hotel. Would recommend.
The room was very comfortable however this being a three floor facility there was no elevator which made carrying luggage up stairs a bother. The pool facilities were very nice. The free hot breakfast was not very hot in my opinion. The food choices were very good but the hot items were only luke warm at best.
Very professional staff, nice rooms, well taken care of,... Easy access to state park, fishing, nature, and downtown. Fishing is the best in the state (Free Style Charters - don't make a mistake with others)!
The hotel is reasonably priced. The beds are quite comfortable and staff is professional. Breakfast is provided and has good selection and quality' I would recommend this hotel and have stayed here often.
This hotel is clean and very neat. It offers a lot of amenities that most hotels don't. The staff is very cordial and friendly and willing to assist you if need be. The rooms were clean, but there was no microwave but there was a fridge. The room seems a little small, especially if you get 3 - 4 people coming in the room. The bathroom was neat but really small. I truly would not have an issue staying here again.
I've noticed some changes to this place since my last visit a few years ago. There used to be a pool slide which is no longer here. The breakfast area has some improvements. I really like the yogurt machine where you can add fresh fruit and other goodies to customize your yogurt creation. This is my favorite hotel in this area.
This hotel is very family friendly with and indoor pool and ping pong table. A decent selection of food options was provided for breakfast. If you want to sleep in I would recommend requesting a second floor room - NOTE: there is no elevator if you are traveling with a lot of luggage.
Clean, quiet, front desk people are friendly and helpful. Bed was comfy and towels were soft and fluffy. Plenty of pillows. Would stay there again if we are ever in the area. About 10 minutes from ferry
This place is a little older, but, its got some nice touches. We had a room with a King bed. There was a flat screen TV, and a comfortable lounge chair in the room. Everything worked, the bed was comfortable. You can sense the hotels age on some of the walls and floors of the place, but, its got some nice touches in the bathroom, and throughout the hotel. We rode our Harleys up from Indiana on this trip and were able to park right outside the entrance to building on backside of building near the playground. This was really nice, because once inside we found that there was a security camera right inside the door, so our bikes were on camera the entire night. As stated above, there was an actual playground out back for the kids, and inside there is an indoor pool and hot tub, along with a pool table and ping pong table. The highway that this hotels sits on is the main drag into town, and there are several places to eat just down the road. We gave the Ponderosa a try, as we hadn't eaten in one of those in years.
We were in Ludington to sail on the SS Badger, this place is very convenient for that purpose. The rooms were clean, quiet, and a decent size. The price was good, staff was great, area seems safe, pool and hot tub were very nice. Breakfast was ready on time, hot, and good... They have Nutella, and maraschino cherries... But, be aware (we were not), there is NO elevator.
Room was nice and clean and quite just no elevator for large luggage and children had to use stairs. Breakfast was really good, close to downtown ludington. Would recommend staying here again. Pool and spa!
I really enjoyed my stay at the Best Western! The room was great and comfortable for my family. The breakfast was great with lots to choose from, both hot and cold items. Best hotel in town, clean rooms, and the best rates. Will be back again soon!
I came to Ludington this passed March for a long weekend. When ever I come to Ludington I know Best Western will never be disappointing. Alway clean, and the staff is so very accommodating to our every need.. Especially the Front Desk Staff, always pleasant, and there with a welcome smile which means so much after a long trip.. Very well managed. So I say Thank You!! Can't wait to come back ;)
My stay at best Western was beyond exceptional. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful and go out of their way, above and beyond to guarantee a great stay. this is a great place for a family to stay with the kids with a perfect location close to everything. I will always stay at best Western in Ludington after this experience I had.
This location and room nice and clean and met the needs for this fishing trip lay over. The breakfast was ready early which is a plus for us to meet our connection. We will use this location again Thank you for your services.
Whenever we travel to the Ludington/Manistee area we choose this Best Western. Always love the clean and great service we receive here. Great location and reasonable rates are always a plus. Close driving distance to the down town area and beach.
A friend and I needed a relaxing weekend away from city life. We decided to visit Ludington in March in the off season. We could have stayed anywhere, we chose Best Western, and WILL be back! We spent a lot of time in our room which was spacious and our beds were heavenly. There were a mix of firm and soft pillows on the bed which was nice. There was a refrigerator in the room and a microwave is available in the lobby. The pool and hot tub were great. Always clean and well stocked with towels. There was a nice arcade and 24 hour fitness center. The staff at this hotel was so welcoming and friendly. They ALWAYS stopped to acknowledge me in the halls and spend time giving dinner suggestions and such at the front desk. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! As for Ludington, even in the off season we were able to find things to do when we wanted (movie theater, salons, restaurants, shopping) and we had a great time!
We shared a King suite with my sister and her hubby! It had a King bedroom that connected to a standard 2 queen room. It was pretty Nice! They had a nice pool and hot tub area! They also serve breakfast. Like eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast, and juice The only issue was upon checkout they charged us 20 more than they told us upon check in. They did refund it when I brought it to her attention.
Overall the room, staff and property were very good. The pool area was well kept. The breakfast items were all delicious and hot/cold as expected. the pool water temperature was pleasant. The hot tub was hot enough. The only problem was that the elevator was not working and we had a room on the second floor. Which 5 years ago wouldn't have been an issue but we both have bad knees now. We do plan to return to this property at a future date for a longer stay to take in all the sights that the area offers
This is a great hotel for kids (as long as they're supervised that is.) There is of course a pool/hot tub but it also includes a playground outside, pool table and a small arcade room inside. The property is under construction but you can't fault a place for making improvements. The only real problem was there were a group of 5-7 children ages 3-12 running rampant thru the hotel unsupervised the entire time we were there. I think the management should have stepped in and told whomever was responsible for the children that they can't allow children that little swimming in the pool unsupervised as well as raiding the breakfast buffet area. I'm sure this was an isolated incident on a holiday weekend and I would definitely come back here again with my children but not as a couple looking to relax or solo.
I made plans to revisit the Ludington area for the first time in years. Being a Rewards member, I was glad there was a Best Western hotel in the area. This hotel was a GREAT value in that it was VERY reasonably priced. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable & the breakfast was filling. The only downside was a lack of an elevator, but it wasn't that big of a deal since the building is only 2 stories.
Room was clean enough but bathroom door was warped and didn't shut well. No conditioner or lotion for guests. No guide on the tv. Room was next to 'construction' that went on until after 9 pm on a Friday night. Heating up my bagel in the dining area when they started to clear things out while I was standing there. Children (which I love) in the fitness room allowed to climb all over the equipment ruining our workout and putting them in harms way. We won't be back.
I plan to stay here next time we visit ludington again. The motel offers a pool, game room & an outdoor playground. We stayed on a Sunday night & they have an amazing rate for Sunday night. The room was recently remodeled & was very welcoming spacious & clean. The bed was the comfiest I have slept in. They are in process of updating hotel. I really enjoyed my stay.
As always, we choose this Best Western in Ludington....it is quiet and clean and has everything we need. We are very pleased with some of their new decorating and construction....elevator, pool enclosure and nice roomy breakfast area.
Hotel is really good and the staff was great. Unique layout and nice to be able to hang out in pool area or gathering area and be able to watch kids. Excellent breakfast for the value. I would highly recommend that if your in the area to stay at this Best Western.
I love everything about this hotel even though they are updating and doing maintenance on some of the property it was excellent I enjoyed the hot tub and having access to the treadmill is great, and the atrium for breakfast and family area as well
My husband and I came to Ludington as a list minute weekend getaway with no hotel plans in place. I read the Trip Advisor reviews of the Best Western and booked a room. We weren't disappointed in anything! The lobby is beautiful, the desk clerk was helpful and friendly. We had a room with a king bed and everything was clean and comfortable. We also used the hot tub and pool, both were great! The hotel limits them to over age 18 during the 10-11pm hour, which is nice! We would definitely stay here again!
Stay at this hotel every time we head up to ludington. It never fails me. Hotel staff is nice the breakfast is awesome and the rooms are great. Off season rates are amazing and even during the summer the rates are manageable. The pool, hot tub, and pool table are my favorites. We brought the dog which is one of the reasons I love this hotel. It's dog friendly and there aren't breed restrictions, we took our pit bull and she was great. They have us a goodie bag for the dog at check in. We had room neighbors that we didn't even know about until we went to check out and saw them going to their rooms. Very quiet and the hot tub and pool are adult only from 10-11.
We had a large group of people that the staff handled very well. They were pleasant and helpful. They suggested short nearby trips and places to eat. the rooms were large, well-appointed and clean. The breakfast and wi-fi were good.
This hotel is very well maintained. nice staff. Good location. Very safe feeling. We stay here whenever we are in the area. The amenities (pool, plaground, pool table, attraction info) all enhance the stay.
Nice room, clean, comfortable bed, nice pool area and nice breakfast buffet. We would stay here again. Friendly staff. Easy checkin and out. good parking. We didn't have children but there is an outdoor playground for them.
Stayed for 2 nights, great rates, great upgrades and still working on things. It's only going to continue to get better! Breakfast selections were good. Nice that they have built a wall with lots of glass separating the breakfast area from the pool.
Several interesting lighthouses in the immediate area as well as farther afield. Longest paved bicycle path (22 miles) in Michigan only 30 mins away. Hotel was well located, on a busy road but quiet in spite of it. Good parking, helpful, friendly reception staff. Arranged for safe storage of our bikes when not in use, to prevent theft or damage from the elements. Breakfast was typical but the attendant was friendly and helpful. Smooth checkin/checkout. Good wifi connection. Pool quite shallow but decent temp and size.
Delicious breakfast buffet with a wide variety of hot and cold items; pool and hot tub were wonderful, well maintained. Very comfortable bed. Outdoor playground and deck for reading under the trees was a real nice surprise!
We were impressed by the Lakewinds on several counts. It was remarkably clean and comfortable. There's an impressive indoor pool and hot tub. Breakfast was varied and comfortable(no rush to find a seat because its overcrowded)plenty of seating! Outside, there's a playground for the little ones and picnic tables for anyone who wants to eat or drink in the fresh air. Staff was helpful with food suggestions. It's just a short ride into Ludington proper for great sunset views of Lake Michigan.
This hotel was clean. We swam in the pool and it was a little cool but not too bad. Breakfast was good and had alot of choices. It was close to town so that was nice. We only stayed one night but would go back again.
I have stayed in Best Western lakewinds more than two weeks which my company arranged that .During my stay ; Something was wrong with my shower and asked the front desk girl to fix problem next day while I am at work . When I got back from my job to my room; I noticed my Yeti coffee cup is missing and it wasn't in my room and it seemed like somebody stole it ; I went and talked with front desk people and manager and I informed them to sort it out ; but I got no respond from them and what I got fro Manager " sarah " we can't do anything about it which is sad and not pleasant respond I got from them ; Best western in Ludington,MI is not safe to leave anything valuable in ur room because; there is chance to steal it by people who works here .
We usually stay at Best Western's. Always satisfied with everything for the most part. We loved the whirlpool room. It was roomy and we like the whirlpool after a long day driving. We are always happy with the rooms and breakfast.
I once again stayed at Best Western. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and all amenities in working condition. There is a breakfast bar, swimming pool, workout room although I didn't really utilize them this visit. On past visits these things have been of good quality. I would continue to recommend this hotel for business travel or for families.
Facility was generally clean and well kept. Great pool and Jacuzzi. Very good continental breakfasts. Good internet. Comfortable beds with lots of pillows. All in all a very satisfying stay. The only negatives found were in the fitness area. There were no wipes available to wipe down the machines before use. And all of the machines were in some way broken, or had issues preventing adjustment and or monitoring the users progress. Staff members were pleasant and helpful.
I stayed at those cozy hotel for two weeks. Clean rooms, the gym needed some new equipment, but it's probably not a priority seeing how most people are adverse when it comes to staying in shape. The breakfast was mediocre, but that's to be expected when it's free. The WiFi reminded me of the old days of slow dial up Internet. The town might be small, but there are plenty of neat things to do since it's right in the lake. There are some good Restaurants and some neat bars from what I was told. I never went to the bars though, much to my chagrin. Also, be careful while driving on the roads around there. They have an out of control deer population. Anyways, give this town and hotel a try. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. That's all for now. Have a good un'.
Very pleasant stay. Clean, comfortable, and quiet room. Unfortunately, forgot my swimsuit so wasn't able to take advantage of the pool and spa, but did look very nice. Breakfast had numerous selections to satisfy most requests. My only ding would be on the bed ... it was kinda lumpy (soft). Just my preference liking a more firm mattress, but other than that, very nice.
We have stayed at Best Westerns before and all have been nice, but this one had a very friendly and attentive staff, clean and comfortable rooms, a better than good breakfast, nice pool and good location. They did a good job updating and making an existing building work.
Outside and inside appearance modern and well kept. Rooms and accommodations average. Staff friendly and helpful. Overall experience good but on a very busy highway. Did have a nice breakfast. Recreation includes ping-pong table and pool table.
Three years ago we stayed at Best Western Lakewinds when we came to Ludington for a 90th birthday party. We were happy with our visit then, so made reservations again, this time for her Memorial Service. The room was very comfortable and I immediately noticed a very fresh smell. It was quiet and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. At our late check-in we were offered a snack and a bottle of water. The room had a refrigerator, TV and Wifi. The free breakfast buffet was adequate. It was typical of the breakfast that most hotels serve. Would definitely stay there again.
Great location, minutes from the ferry landing, convenient, clean, quiet, nice breakfast buffet too! The staff was friendly and it was a no hassle place to stay for a night. Visit the dunes while you are in town.
The room was clean but there was a strange smell to it. I thought that it smelled a bit musty -- my husband stated that he thought it was a stale cigarette smell. ALL ROOMS are supposed to be non-smoking. The breakfast was pretty typical for a chain hotel lobby breakfast. The staff was friendly.
Following our trip across Lake Michigan on the Badger ferry: There are a number of hotels within 2 mile of the ferry dock, but nothing that looked close. We pre-booked at the Best Western Lake Wind, which is 2.5 miles from the Badger dock. The hotel is nice and directly across from the fairgrounds. There is a large indoor pool. The breakfast was SO SO – as it was in this enormous room environment next to the pool thus not real inclusive to a happy feeling (big, cold feeling and hollow). Note = The once upon-a-time water slide into the pool is now gone. Giving this a 3 hinge rating (scale of 1-5).
I took my daughters and friends to this hotel for my daughter's birthday getaway. I was very pleased with the hotel. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about area activities. Breakfast was amazing and the breakfast staff went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. I would definitely stay here again.
Quiet and easy access to the town of Ludington and the ferry. Hotel is right across the street from the fairgrounds. Clean rooms, nice beds, roomy breakfast area. Quick trip to downtown and the lovely waterfront parks- great for walking and sitting and ice cream at House of Flavors dairy.
The free breakfast was great. The location was pretty good, just a few minutes to downtown Ludington. The bathroom was not the greatest, but the rest of the room was average. Front desk was nice and helpful.
I saw other reviews saying that the rooms were new, but the room I got was not new. The people in the room above us made a lot of noise. I don't know if it was so loud because of them, or because of the sound quality of the room.
On august 29 this year we stayed at the Best Western Lakewinds. We had a very nice time there. The room was spacious, modern and well equiped. We enjoyed the swimming pool and in the morning we got a delicious breakfast. About the staff we can only say that they were very friendly and helpfull.
Very good for families. Clean and well managed. Indoor hallways. If you don't want to carry your luggage upstairs, ask for a room on the first floor. No elevator. Many rooms have a window looking onto a hallway rather than outside. Very good breakfast with four waffle irons, scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage patties, cold cereals, juice, etc. located on the Main Street going through town. Wonderful soft sandy beach at the end of the street at a state park.
This Best Western is a decent hotel with a good location only a couple miles from the beach. All of the staff was very polite and I have zero complaints about my stay. I give this a 4/5 because it was a little pricey but it's about on par with other hotels in the area. The beds were decent and the decor in the room wasn't trendy or anything but it was nice and up to date for the most part. The absolute best part of the room was that it was clean! Outdated decor never bothers me but I am a stickler when it comes to cleanliness and it met all of my expectations. Being able to park pretty close to our room was also a plus. Also there was no microwave in the room which I did not care about but I do believe there was one in the breakfast area. I heard a few people complaining about the lack of an elevator but if an elevator is required for you or any of your company it is your responsibility to check and make sure that the hotel has one. Don't get mad at the hotel because you didn't properly research it. I would certainly stay here again if I was in the area!
We stayed on the 2nd floor. There was not an elevator, despite the hotel actually having 3 floors. Also the AC in the hallway was not working and the AC in our room did not work properly either. The weather was very hot and humid. The pillows were like miniature pillows, not full sized ones. It was very overpriced for a Best Western. I let the front desk know that my husband had MS and heat was an issue for him so they brought us a floor fan that we got to plug in and listen to for 150+ for the night for a double queen bed room. We typically stay in a king suite wherever we go but that was double the price here compared to most places. FYI I am from MI and this is a beautiful city to visit. Not sure what's going on with the hotels but they will be their own demise because Michigan has plenty of beautiful places to visit and the boat ride to WI I'm sure is nice but so is a drive over the Mackinac and along US2.
I have stayed at Hilton resorts and the costs were less then yours and the service at this Best Western Lakewinds was terrible. All I wanted was a wake up call and never got one and almost miss the SS Badger that morning.
My husband and I had a triathlon in Ludington and stayed one night at the Best Western Lakewinds. The room was comfortable, clean and relatively quiet. Service was very good; they were kind enough to allow late check-out so we'd have time to shower and pack after the race. We didn't spend much time on the hotel property and it was a quick stay, but I think we'd stay here agin.
The staff is very professional, hotel is clean, rooms great. I stayed 4 nights, breakfast is really good. Nice hot breakfast. The location is great. Easy to get into. Plenty of handicapped parking. the hotel is clean, updated, smells good. I enjoy staying at this hotel.
First off, how is it even legal to have a three story hotel with no elevator in 2016? Seriously? This information should be in large print when you book with them. I have a disable daughter, and we were put on the second floor. When we figured out there was no elevator, the front desk could not accommodate our booked room (king suite) on the main floor. Now if you own a motel that doesn't have an elevator wouldn't you keep several rooms for disable people? Unreal! Room was okay, needs updating. Quiet enough, but not worth having to carry our daughter up and down the stairs along with all of our luggage. We would never go back.
Hotel was in great location for our trip up the western Michigan lake shore on our way to Mackinac Island. The hotel was very clean and offered a great breakfast with a good selection of food items. The staff kept the area well stocked and very clean. The hotel was located close to the Ludington city beach and only 30 minutes from Silver Lake state park dune rides.
Very nice if a bit over priced but since it's a "resort - vaca" area I'm not too surprised. Upgraded to Jacuzzi room because they needed the room originally booked to us. Nice but we didn't use. Room clean, broken bath light quickly fixed. Staff friendly and helpful.
We stayed at the Best Western Lakewinds for a couple's vacation and was really happy with the experience. We got upgraded to the apartment, which included a kitchen and bedroom. We didn't use the kitchen, other than the fridge but it was fully stocked. The rooms were clean and updated. Sleeping there was easy and it was quiet. The staff was great and the breakfast had the waffle irons that were clean and fully stocked. Coffee was good! We would stay here again!
We had a great stay here. The room was very clean and spacious. The Staff was very friendly and helpful each time we talked with them. Our daughter loved the pool area and had lots of fun. The Continental breakfast was a great selection. I recommend this Hotel for your stay. Very awesome Hotel for the value.
rooms were clean, staff friendly, nice breakfast options We booked a king bed in one room and double for the other room. We were given two double rooms. We were right off registration and didn't really explore hotel, just an overnight on our way up Michigan's West coast.
Overall a great stay, but the pet rooms were dark and dingy. Did help us sleep in in the morning with no light coming in. Hotel staff were courteous and helpful. Nice field out in the back for walking the dog. Minutes from the beach and the beautiful city of Ludington!
Easy to find and park and very welcome reception. However first issue is there are no elevators. Carry everything upstairs. Not good. Nice pool and normal rooms. Would recommend rooms at rear as could get noisy if off lobby. Small child's playground but on this occasion lots of dog mess. Drab decor but clean.
I have MS and I purposely booked an accessible suite for a week-long stay for my family and I. In this case I didn't get to experience this ease with this room or the hotel. I should have realized this when we entered the room and my wife started crying. The room was very dark, dirty, and smelled like dog. My wheelchair wouldn't fit next to the bed and the frontdesk gave me a hard time about moving the bed. I ended up moving the bed but they would no longer clean by my bed area. The bathroom/walk-in shower was slippery and amenities were dated, worst part was the toilet wasn't even to ADA height. The doors throughout the hotel were heavy for me to open and breakfast area was too congested for me to maneuver around. While it would be fine for other families it wasn't for us, we ended up leaving mid week as it was so bad for us and ended up down the road. I would not recommend this hotel for any disabled folks, there are better choices out there.
Last year, we stayed at this hotel and it was an AMAZING experience! This year, our stay was a bit disappointing. We were on the 1st floor and the people above us were extremely loud. And our room had a musty smell so we had to keep our air conditioning cranked in order to stand it. The staff were very friendly and we would consider staying there again but I'd need to make sure we were on the 2nd floor.
This hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. The beds were very nice. It has a really nice playground for kids and picnic table area outside. The breakfast was good- above average for a hotel breakfast. The location was right on the main drag- about 10 min from the ferry. I would stay here again.
We've stayed at the Best Western Lakewinds for a weekend every summer, for the last 5 years. In the last 2 years, they've invested a lot of money into the rooms and common spaces. The hotel is old, but they've done a great job at making it feel more modern and fresh. On this trip, after one night, we had an issue with our room. The staff was extremely nice and understanding, and immediately switched us to another room. We found the staff to be very accommodating and pleasant at every turn. I would continue to recommend this hotel for families visiting Ludington. Book early as the area fills up, and prices rise throughout the summer.
Our family booked four rooms and stayed five days. Our children and grandchildren loved all the amenities, playground, game room, fitness area, pool, hot tub, pool and ping pong tables. They also enjoyed the vibrating recliner in the lobby and rocking chairs in the front of the hotel. Great family hotel.
Again, we had a hotel on this trip without an elevator. Just be aware of that when considering this hotel. There were several doors that were available for entrance to different parts of the hotel. We drove to the back of the hotel for our closest entrance to the room. I have good sense of direction, but when leaving the room for the lobby, I was confused somewhat. So someone with poor sense of direction might have more difficulty. The breakfast area was fairly large, and the food was adequate to start the day. Our room was clean and comfortable. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall, this was a nice stay at this BW.
Had a wonderful stay here! Clean, friendly, had everything we needed, including free WIFI and a fabulous breakfast buffet in the morning. My niece loved the indoor pool. The location is a little removed from the heart of town, but a super easy 5-10 minute drive to everything (including the S.S. Badger) and a much more affordable rate than other hotels we checked. I would happily stay here again. Highly recommended!
People in the lobby extremely loud at 11pm at night when others trying to sleep. Called the front desk 3 times until they did something about it, after saying I was going to call Law Enforcement. Took front desk a long time to answer the phone.
I'd first like to say that the plumbing that was in the hotel room was amazing - I challenged it, but it didn't get backed up - and on this premise alone, I rank it at five out of five - why only four out of five though? Staff: I only had interactions with the front desk on 2 occasions. One to check in - which was great. They showed me a map of here I was and how to get to my room and let me look at it as long as I needed to. The second time i'll save for my room review. Breakfast: The breakfast area is built to handle a large amount of people in a reasonable amount of time - not just sitting area, but also waffle makers (4 when I was there (7/29/2016)) and 3 hot plate containers (had sausage, eggs (one day was folded egg and cheddar cheese - another day was scrambled egg), and bacon. I'm sure there'd be other things, but not for my very short stay.) Had cereal stuffs and yogurt and fruit and bagels and bread and such. If you had to wait, it wouldn't be for long. Gripes? Not really - just noticed one of the waffle irons wasn't greased up like it should be and there was nothing around to spray or wipe it down with to assist in the waffle removal - but hey, 3 out of 4 still ain't bad! Room: Very standard room. I had a 2 queen room. A/C was on when I got in and worked great for my stay. I put a Do Not DIsturb on my door, so I can't tell you how they clean/refresh the rooms. Hand soap / bath soap / conditioner-shampoo mixed bottle - and that was pretty much it for the bathroom items. I'm sure if you needed something else though, the front desk might have it. Smoke Alarm: Since when does a smoke alarm get it's own section? Well, mine was placed on the ceiling in the center of the bedroom portion - and it actually went off while I was there. Took me a while to find it to see if I could fan some fresh air to it so it'd go off. It was on for roughly a minute before it went off. The front desk called and wanted to make sure everything was ok. I said yes - but didn't understand why it went off. They said it'd be because someone lit a candle in the room - or was smoking in the room. I told them that I hadn't lit a candle, nor did i have one - and I most certainly wasn't smoking because I'm not even a smoker. She said not to worry about it and it should be ok. Does this happen frequently? Don't know - but I looked for why it could've happened - and the air conditioner is pointed in the direction of the smoke alarm. . . and I was on the side of the hotel where people were standing outside smoking... so, I'm thinking that the smell got sucked in and it was blown to the smoke alarm and that's what set it off. Moral of the story - ask for a odd numbered room. Why? Because odd numbered rooms are on the side of the building where no one parks/goes/stands/smokes - and this shouldn't be an issue. Shower water was soft - on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being ACK! My back is being attacked by daggers - to ten being Ahhhhh... i'm being pelted with cotton candy, I'd give it a 8. Water was hot but could control it to a desirable temperature. Shower pressure left a little bit to be desired, but it did the job. Floor plan: I'll be the first to admit that I'm not good at directions - but that's what Siri is for. . . but Siri doesn't do the inside of hotels yet. ha ha. My room was 228. The nice staff told me where I should park and what entrance to use and what stairs to use - it's just after I parked and hoofed up the stairs, I was lost... I walked around the entire second floor until I found that my room was actually just around the corner from the stairs! Probably bad on my part due to not taking the time to read the signs, but wanting to figure it out myself - thinking that since i was seeing odd numbered rooms, that I'd see even numbered rooms soon... but only later to realize that odd numbered rooms were on the one side, and even numbered rooms were on the parking lot side. My bad! But when I got out of my room, trying to find the stairs to go to the lobby was a lost cause on me - I just had to go out where I came in and walk outside to the front door to get to the breakfast area reliably. If I were better with directions or thought to use the map on the back of my rooms door, i might have been better Overall score was based on - this is just a room - and that's all I needed - and it met my needs. . . other than the smoke alarm going off (design of hotel, no fault of staff) and the hotel being so large that it was difficult finding my way around - it was ok! Price was to be expected since it was vacation season (July). Location was right beside a Chinese Buffet so that was awesome! Lots of restaurant chains nearby that could be walked too. like 10 minutes away by foot (I think) to the beach and the beachside downtown! . . . and my most important point - it wasn't a "Turbo" toilet, but it was pretty close!
... crossing Lake Michigan on the SS Badger. Handicap parking spaces are well-located. The room was close to that parking as requested, and was clean and in good condition. The breakfast was about average for this class motel.
The best of the best. This is the only hotel I would consider staying at, when it's available. The breakfast alone seals the deal. Other places offer coffee and donuts. Not here. Here you choose from pancakes, waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, plus sausage patties. Of course, a wide range of juices.
Where do I start, the faucet on the sink didn't work properly, there was no cold water as it was turned off to stop the leaking. The air conditioner was making a rattling noise and was leaking water all over the carpet causing the room to have a musty smell. There were other minor maintenance problems with the room that could use attention as well. The price for this room was double what it was worth. On a good note the staff I delt with was friendly and courteous.
Hotel room was nice, property in nice condition, staff very friendly, but internet service was horrible. For $150 per night, expectations of a good internet don't seem unreasonable. Have been told internet service in Ludington is not very good, but this should be disclosed prior to booking a room.
This hotel needs to do better. Thin walls make it hard to rest. Bathroom fan was loud and didn't work. Air conditioner worked but needed service and was very loud. -- The only thing first class was the price. --- Will not return.
My family stayed at the Best Western in Ludington, Michigan. The hotel offers a lot for families. The rooms are nice and the staff are friendly. We spent time at the indoor pool and had fun using the pool table. Lots of area for families to hang out in. I also took advantage of the exercise room. Well equipped with different machines and weights. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and other family members. Bring along your four-legged family members and you will truly enjoy your stay.
I've stayed at a number of Best Westerns recently and for the most part I've been pleased. This one is like many of the others. The place is clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is good. The staff friendly and helpful. The rate at this property was a bit higher than other similar Best Westerns, but it seems to be inline with the other properties in the area. Like many of their properties this one is nothing special - but it is a fine place to stay. The one complaint I have is about the availability of electrical outlets in the room. I found the number of outlets, and their placement to be inadequate and inconvenient for the 21st century.
The pool and hot tub were very nice. The breakfast was good. My only complaint about our room- no outside windows. You had to have the lights on or it was too dark, and we had to set an alarm to get up since it was so dark, we could have slept all day!
Our room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the free breakfast and family extras. With 2 little kids the playground is a very nice touch. The pool area seemed clean and the hot tub worked fine. The ping pong and game room were also a nice touch. My only complaint is the wifi was slow and that was difficult for my husband who had to do some work on his lap top.
We needed a family type hotel for a recent weekend fishing trip to Ludington. Very few, if any of the properties in town had larger rooms to accommodate two adults and two bigger kids. We booked the Best Western as they indicated they did. They were correct. Our room had a master bedroom with a King Bed and another room with two Queen beds which fit the bill perfectly! One bathroom. but the sleeping arrangements were exactly what we were looking for... allowing both boys to sleep in their own space. Both rooms had their own tv's. One bathroom. Be cautious when showering... showers could use a mat inside the shower so you don't slip! The room had a microwave and refrigerator in it which was perfect for sodas, waters and leftovers from various meals we ate in town. If you have younger children there's a small playground on the property. There were also an indoor pool with hot tub, a pool table, ping pong table and small game room. Breakfast was a bit above the typical continental breakfast with expanded offerings. They even offered us a few things to take out fishing if we were going to miss breakfast (juice, fruit and granola bar). We didn't take advantage of that but it was available for just calling down to the desk in advance. All in all, a very decent family stay. Word of warning about traveling to Western Michigan during the summer tourist season: expect to pay in the $250/night range at most hotels in the area. It's a very nice place to go for vacations and folks there know it! lol
First off they tried to put us on the second floor when we specifically asked for a second floor room. I had booked this reservation 3 months in advance. My husband and I both have bad knees and a bad back. That is why we requested the first floor. This place has NO elevator so we would've had to lug all of our stuff up a whole flight of stairs. The two girls at the check-in desk were extremely rude and basically told us they'd haul our luggage for us. That was not the point. The point was we were promised a first floor room. Not to mention there was so much noise at this place my husband and I couldn't sleep. Most of the night there were kids running up and down the halls on the first floor literally pounding on the floor. None of the staff told them to be quiet. This was way after 11 p.m. too. I will probably never stay here again as there was no elevator for handicapped people, the staff was snotty and there was way too much noise. I thought the price was outrageous for what we got too. We could've stayed somewhere cheaper and had a better nights' sleep. The beds, however, were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was very good. There was a lot of variety.
I booked the Best Western Lakewinds because I love myself some Trip Advisor. And you know…they ranked in #1 for Ludington area hotels overall. But I'm just finding myself kind of unimpressed with this particular branch. There was nothing innately WRONG with it, it was an entirely decent hotel – but it wasn't worth the #1 spot in my opinion either OR the hefty price-tag. Rooms were clean – but clearly in need of some general building maintenance TLC. Although excited about the playground from my TA reviews, I quickly realized that there were a ton of strange people loitering outside BY the playground – doing nothing except what appeared to be sucking off the wi-fi – so yeah, no playground for my kids. The pool was small – with a really strange flooring that gave me the willies since there's NO WAY they could keep that pitted tile clean and the hot tub was broken. (It was still hot, but no jets.) But enough complaining… Here are some things that I could get on board with: Our room was RIGHT off of the common area, and still, relatively quiet. In the end, I actually liked the proximity to things like the breakfast area in the morning. (More on this later.) I liked the pass-keys for the room (no inserting your key card, you just wave it in front of your door). On a personal note, I always appreciate hotel rooms that give you a separate area for washing hands/getting ready that are NOT in the same room as the toilet – with two small children, this is pretty much a necessity for me ever getting anything done to my OWN self. This Best Western provides that. And then there was the breakfast, which was awesome. Giant Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, DIY breakfast sandwich stuff, yogurt, cereals, entirely decent coffee and fruit (but out of bananas by 9 a.m. wah.) – We would easily have spent $20-30 elsewhere on a breakfast this filling. The staff managing the breakfast area were attentive, friendly and totally on top of keeping this area well stocked and clean. I did not interact much with the front desk staff, apart to see if early check in was available. (It was.) We were initially concerned about the non-functioning climate control unit in our room until my brilliant husband realized that it had merely been unplugged. (This is why I keep him around.) Although we stayed several more nights in Ludington after this night, we chose to book somewhere else for the remainder of our stay. While I missed the Best Western's breakfast…I don't regret that decision overall. Neither does my pocketbook.
This is a dirty, dark, and run down property. The room was in poor working order, uncomfortable, and felt very dirty. The $150 they charge is way overpriced as it shouldn't be more then $70. When brought to the front desks attention, the lady was more concerned about talking about her casino trip then addressing the issues. Avoid this hotel!
Our 4th stay here with extended family. Clean, well appointed rooms, very comfortable beds, well kept indoor pool, nice family gathering areas inside and out, great free breakfasts, very pleasant staff.
love this place will always return, everything we asked for we got, the breakfast is awesome, the rooms are quiet, the beds are super comfy, your treated like family. amenities are perfect for families. make sure you tip your cleaning staff they deserve it.
The hotel was super nice the the fact that it was dog friendly and they only charge $10 extra per night. They have a complimentary breakfast that was pretty amazing compared to other hotels. The room was excellent. Everything was very clean. The pool was pretty nice and we loved the outside children's play area with the bbq grill. Definitely plan on returning to this hotel. It's also in a great location of you are staying in ludington and very close to restaurants and things to do!
The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. The girl at the desk helped us locate the restaurant we wanted to visit. This is a nice hotel in a nice town. The room was clean and comfortable. I know we would return if we were back in this area.
Not quite sure where to start. First, had trouble locating hotel because the address didn't come up on our GPS. Tried calling 3 times. No one answered. Finally found it. Hubby mentioned the problem with them not answering the phone. The desk clerk said they'd have to "look into it". Checked in and was supposed to get an accessible room which I had reserved online. They gave us keys to a room. We opened the door to find it occupied. My hubby went back to the desk and they were puzzled by it. Said they'd need to "look into it". Got keys to another room. It smelled really funky - like body odor and smoke - only it was a "non-smoking" room. Tried room spray to cover the smell. Only improved it for a short while. Bath tub was mostly clean. Shower head was coated with some kind of lime scale? Tried the breakfast in the morning. Dining area is adjacent to pool. Not sure if that is why the area seemed overly warm. Scrambled eggs were tasteless. Did have plenty of waffle makers which was a plus. Upon checkout, hubby mentioned the room smell to the clerk. The response? They'd need to "check it out". Do yourself a favor. Choose another place to stay.
We have stayed here many times on our way to Wisconsin. It is always comfortable for us and our dog. It is a short drive to the loading area for the SS Badger in the morning. We take advantage of the early breakfast option especially since we need to be at the loading dock for the ferry. Great stay for a family and a dog!
Our family group (2 grandparents, mom & dad plus 4 kids 7-12) spent two nights and it was a good choice. Plenty of parking, easy check-in, good sized rooms. Buffet breakfast had something for everyone; fresh fruit, rolls, bagels, eggs, sausage, juices, waffles with all the toppings, cereal and free daily paper. No resort fees or add on charges. Indoor pool was used daily as were the ping pong and pool tables. Small items to mention: 3 floors, no elevator. Flat screen tv's are nice if you have hi-def programming, they don't. No peanut butter at buffet breakfast. I would suggest having a notice board in the lobby with postings of daily events in and around town. We happened upon a large fishing boat parade honoring war vets by accident. All-in-all, we enjoyed our stay, we recommend it and will stay here again.
This was our last night in Michigan before taking the Badger Ferry back to Wisconsin. Best Western was less than 10 minutes from the ferry. Lots of restaurants in the area to choose from. The hotel had a nice pool, hot tub, exercise room and a large open breakfast room that served a hot breakfast which was also used for playing games etc. We enjoyed the Adventure Park right in the backyard for go carting and zipline. The room had new bedding and it was clean. The mattress was too soft for my liking but that is personal taste.
Had an event in Ludington a week ago, one where I was finishing up an 18 hour day. I had a reservation, and got in at about 1 a.m.. I was greeted by the nicest lady at the main desk, who knew I had a long day and was expecting me. Because many of the people from the event were there also, and still trying to party. She nicely put me in a room away from any loud guests, so that I had a chance to get some undesturbed sleep before my trip back home. This is customer service. Room was cooled, nice temp, very clean. I would definitely go again when in that area!
The Best Western is a well maintained property but it is showing it's age, especially in the bath room. Low counters and sinks are really not up to todays standards. The beds were extremely soft. However, everything was clean and neat with an obvious dedication to keeping things that way. I enjoy the breakfasts at Best Western hotels because they each tend to be slightly unique. Here, the biscuits and gravy was especially good.
stayed here before a morning trip on the badger to wisconsin. the hotel was clean and close by to ferry dock and park the best western lakewinds is about 5 miles or so to docks 6-7 miles from park comfortable close to restaurants and town very convienient i would stay here again next time in ludington
This hotel was a very good option when taking the Ferry across from Manitowoc WI. It was reasonably priced with a great hot tub and pool to make the days end complete and ready to start a relaxed day of travel ahead the next day.
We stayed one night at this property and found it to be clean and comfortable. As with our two other Best Westerns stays on this trip, I was very happy with the bed and pillows. We also found the same poor quality breakfast and went to McDonald's instead for healthier options and much better coffee.
We stayed here in advance of an early morning departure on the SS Badger. I was convenient, clean and comfortable. The person at the desk upon our arrival was very friendly and helpful - good customer service. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
We were here recently for a one night's stay, the reception staff were very friendly, the room was spotless and roomy, we had a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, huge king sized bed. Breakfast was good, however, did not care for the layout of the breakfast room, everything was not close together, if you didn't look carefully around you could have missed something. I would stay again.
The staff at the desk when I checked in were nice. I usually like to park where I can see my vehicle from my room, but there is only parking on one side of the hotel, so that wasn't possible. There was no microwave in my room, which since I was staying for a week, would have been very convenient. Instead I had to go down to the lobby and use one in the gift shop. There was also no guide channel on the tv, not many channels. The heat/air is either on or off, no inbetween. Not very good cell service in my room either. Small things but they all add up. The room was clean but there were loud pipes and other noises from other rooms. The drain plug in the shower did not work. I amnot very particular but there are just to many things that will make my stay uncomfortable. I am checking out tomorrow and have booked a room at the Holiday Inn.
staff is very friendly---I have stayed there before & hope to again--good location---summer is too busy & many children though--so if you want quiet maybe look elsewhere & area gets pricey during tourist season
My wife and I and another couple traveling with us stayed here for one night. The facility was very clean, the staff was welcoming and friendly, the beds were comfortable and the rooms well furnished and equipped. The one issue we had was that there is no elevator and our room was on the second floor--no first floor rooms were available. We are seniors and carrying our luggage and a box of travel accompaniments (we were on a two week trip) up the flight of stairs was a bit of a challenge. There are three floors in the hotel. They provided a good breakfast with a range of breakfast items to choose from. So, we recommend the hotel as a good value but caution those who might need the support of an elevator.
Stay here a few times every year and have never had a bad experience. Pool is always clean and the water is a comfortable temperature. Playground is kid friendly with picnic tables set up in the shade.
Nothing wrong with this place but it wasn't fantastic or anything either. The room was clean but the beds/pillows weren't very comfy. Decent assortment for continental breakfast. Pool area was nice enough.
The hotel was accommodating, and clean. It was great for a basic hotel stay. The room was clean, and the breakfast was more than expected. The pool and hot tub were clean as well, with a 10-11 pm adult swim. The hotel was very accommodating for our two dogs. The best part however, was the great location to Ludington State Park and the town of Ludington. Easy and quick drive!
Overall a very nice hotel and we would return. Had everything we needed. Location, on a very busy highway, is always extremely unattractive to me but it is in a convenient location. We did have some problems using access card/key at the rear entrance, and the toilet did not appear to be secured tightly to the floor. Minor problems and did not adversely effect our stay. The stairwell carpeting is visually difficult to maneuver as the pattern was dark and very busy. Bifocals, arthritis and carrying a suitcase made for difficult situation.
My room was very clean and, organized for convenience. The beds were extremely comfortable and, the room was quite relaxing. TV and, easy chairs gave it an at home feeling. Many area services were at my finger tip. The pool was neat and refreshing. and spa was most relaxing after a hard day of travel and play. The morning wake up was very welcoming. The breakfast menu had all the favorite menu items, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy, rolls, toast and croissants, you name it, all hot and ready. It was laid out very well and, plenty to go around. I have already posted pictures on my Facebook page highlighting my stay and, recommended to all my friends to make sure and stay it and when they visit the beautiful city of Ludington, MI.
My mother had a stroke and we were released from the hospital at 3am. The front desk lady not only got us an accessible bedroom, but gave us a suite for a huge discount, met us at the door, held doors open, gave suggestions on where to move furniture for safety, gave us a late check out of 2pm, and was just so sensitive and caring! Wow, what an amazing experience.
The Best Western Lakewinds was a wonderful hotel with great amenities! A large pool, hot tub, pool table and ping pong table give adults and kids so much to do! A small playground offers children an outdoor activity. Breakfast is served from 6:30-9:30, and there are plenty of choices. From yogurt to waffles, eggs, meat, fruits and cereals, and coffee and juice. The staff in the breakfast room are so accommodating and continue to replace low items, nothing ever ran out! The beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, bathrooms are very clean. The only problem is sometimes you can hear the water running in the next room. Truly a family friendly hotel!
Staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was accessible and clean. I stayed with a wedding party that rented out a floor for after the wedding. We talked afterwards for a long time in a banquet room we were not charged for that was clean with tables and chairs. We were not told we had to go at anytime. We were in the common room and were asked to move to the private room, which was more suitable. It's near the beach and was beautiful. I loved the stay there :)
Apparently there was a motorcycle event in the area.I have no problem with this. Except when a person cannot get near the entrance because motorcycles are blocking the entrance all week end. It was a cold and rainy two days, but I could not drop my wife off under the canopy entrance due to motorcycles blocking the way ALL WEEK END! We could not walk on the sidewalk to enter the building because motorcycles parked on the sidewalk. There was plenty of parking but they choose to park under the canopy and block the entrance and Best Western staff allowed them to do so. Handicapped and families with small children had to walk in the rain to enter. Again they also could not walk on the sidewalk as motorcycles were parked there. They also allowed them to play cards, smoke and drink right outside my door in the breakfast area. The staff should be ashamed to allow this to happen. I have stayed there many times but this is probably my last!
Hotel was very clean! My only issue was no one was at the counter when I wanted to check in- maybe a bell or something to gain attention for the people in the back room. Staff was very friendly though!!! Plenty of parking and I thought it was great there was a playgrounds for families with children.
Please make sure to list that there is no elevator so while booking on line the customer can decide to stay at your facility or not. The staff is amazing and I would recommend Tara and the other staff to anyone. They were so nice, friendly and caring they made our visit!
Upon planning a vacation along the West Coast of Michigan, I really did try to find some place affordable while staying in Ludington, that didn't require a minimum two night stay but would still be nice. I now regret my decision to stay at Best Western Lakewinds. We knew as soon as we pulled into the parking lot and saw that the hotel was right next to a house, which was right next to a grand rental station store. Our room was nice enough, but my boyfriend and I decided that the hotel was clearly designed by a creeper. The pool and hottub are view-able from anywhere in the hotel, which while I made the argument may be nice for families with kids so that they could watch them without being over their shoulders, was still weird. Additionally, our hotel room had its window facing the front doors, so that I suppose if we wanted to we could have sat in the chair and just watched people come in and out of the hotel without anyone realizing it. Yeah, like I said, creepy. There was an arcade and a pools table, again I think appealing more to families than anyone else, and the breakfast was sub-standard even for a hotel chain. Ultimately, we will not be going back, and unless this is your last option, I would suggest you do the same.
Here for work. Perfect to stay a few days. Pool looked nice. My room was clean and looked inviting. The bed was not the most comfortable but perfect for what I need a night of sleeping. Bathroom was a bit dated. I would stay again. Staff at the front desk was pleasant and welcoming. Stay for yourself. I'll be back here if I need a hotel in the area.
This is a great place to send a quality family time. It is also a great place to stay when you are in a business or personal trip. The breakfast was awesome. The swimming pool and entertainment section along with the exercise room was very attractive but over all the service provided was excellent.
We had a few rooms in town for a funeral and we really appreciated the discounted bereavement rate for our group. The atrium worked as a great gathering place for us with plenty of tables, pool table and ping pong table. Breakfast had a nice variety and Ann at breakfast was so friendly! The front desk staff were efficient and very helpful with directions and suggestions of where to dine. Kids had fun at the outdoor playground too! We will be back!
Always a welcome smile is waiting to welcome you... By far always the cleanest , and most accomadating Best Western... You can tell the staff truly cares about making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.. The front desk staff is particularly helpful with their knowledge of the Ludington area, and always on top of where to go for actives and, great places to enjoy wonderful dining experiences... Oh and don't forget the beautiful sunsets!! Gen B
I had a great stay, everyone that works here goes above and beyond everything I could ever need! Definitely will stay here again best hotel in Ludington. I thought the beds and breakfast were great staff is the number one thing that makes this hotel great, never encountered such a great staff at my stay.
Very helpfull and hontest staff. Left a wallet in the room that had $$ in it and we were already serveral hours away. The housekeep staff sbumitted the wallet to the front desk and the Ladies at the front desk called us to inform us and then went way out of their way to help us get the wallet shipped to our home address in Canada.... which was by no means and easy task. However they handled it extremely well with kindness and grace. The hotel it self was only average. In the middle of the hotel is the pool and a ping pong table. The rooms were a bit noisy and the bathroom fan was so loud I didn't want to use it. Also lots of noise from the youger guests haveing a ping pong tournament directly below our rooms. The beds were tooooo soft, like the mattresses were nearing their end. However I really liked the sanitary sleeve they have over the remote control for the TV. I think that's a great idea that all hotels should be using. I was thinking that the next time I would try another hotel in that area, however, due th the outstanding service and honesty we experienced I will be bringing my business back to here.
Lots of dogs at this hotel. Not that I dislike dogs but I don't want them in the area where I will be eating and I don't care to have the smell of dog in the room that I will stay (which was supposed to be pet free). This was the case on both accounts at this hotel. Furthermore there was a pet fee charge on my bill when I went to check out, Glad I looked it over. We did not have a pet so I had to ask them to remove this fee. The desk clerks remark was that housekeeping said we had a pet. How did they know whether we did or did not had a pet? I had a do not disturb sign on the doorknob for the duration of our stay. If you stay here ask to go into the room before settling on a room. Also be sure to check your bill for appropriate charges. On the plus side: Breakfast was good, room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable.
cleanest, most beautiful, best western i have ever stayed in. the beds cured my insomnia. pristine pool and spa. staff was first rate. free breakfast was pretty good. best coffee in the world and the kids enjoyed the make your own waffle bar. nice play ground. and only a few blocks to the beach and best ice cream parlor in the world. i will stay there again. the beds and pillows were high end and comfortable. we all slept like rocks. work out room was cool too. oh, and a giant massaging lounge chair near the pool area. they had lots of little lounge rooms and a little shop if you forgot something. post cards, free wifi, and a computer you could barrow and multi business center. it was so close to all attractions and bagger ferry ship to get to wisconsin. even though a non smoking hotel, there were plenty of ports to smoke. it has a laundry or if your lazy like me you can send it out for small fee. indoor pool was fabulous parking was great. you can park pretty close to your room. each room had a fridge, coffee pot, tv and charging station for my electronics. iron and ironing board. hair dryer, ice bucket. thirsty towels.
i would recommend this hotel. it was a wonderful visit from check in to breakfast. i stayed in the "penthouse" and it was roomy and the amenities were quite pleasant. a lot of noise from the pool area.
Ludington, Mi., part of that chain of Lake Michigan shore towns that are at the heart of the state's sunrise and sunset campaign for "Pure Michigan," is indeed part of that idyllic charm, from its turn-of-the-century Victorian "painted ladies" homes to its lighthouse beach; but those summer dreams from South Haven to Mackinac Island may lay equal claims of their own except that Ludington's tourist industry had its own ship come in a couple of decades ago; in this case, literally: a 400-foot, coal-burning steamship ferry, rescued from mothballs (or worse, scrap) a couple of decades ago by one of its own wealthy sons and turned into the last such mammoth car and people-hauling carrier crossing Lake Michigan to Wisconsin (and back, of course). And that has a lot to do with the story (and heart) behind this Best Western. Renamed the SS Badger (for the Wisconsin mascot), it is a lot better to look at from a distance with the classical lines of old school naval architecture (unlike contemporary flat and vertical cruise liners which look like their towing their own office buildings); up closer, it has a rugged, industrial style all its own with all the bolts showing beneath thousands of paint jobs. It may also be the oldest passenger ship afloat anywhere: at 63 years, it should be eligible for social security. But this plow horse makes its seasonal runs from May through October each year-- without any of those incidents that have grounded more modern cruise ships or sent them into viral quarantines or social media. But its mass appeal (2.5-million passengers and counting) is to those who can't afford the tab or the time for the high life on the high seas; this is, generously put, instead a day camp on a rust bucket-- face-painting and non-stop activities for kids, non-stop videos and movies, souvenirs and food lines, for whom even a day on the water may be too much quiet time. In other words, the grandparents looking for a quiet cocktail lounge with a view should probably wave good-bye from the shore. But the handsome Badger still has its loyal fans onshore in Ludington, too, who come out from their condo landings at each sailing to see and wave. They should: the Badger has done more than its share to keep the innkeepers and restaurants in Ludington afloat. If you get that picture of life onboard, then you will understand why the Lakewinds is also such a popular favorite. Nothing much to look at, but, boy is it fun, even for a single traveler with no intentions of boarding the Badger. If you are a picky, snippy, persnickety motorist, Best Western has some choices elsewhere for you, but not this one. It won't pass a House Beautiful test, but what simply gladdens the heart is that its rooms are as well-kept, welcoming and comfortable as they can be (certainly better than the rough quarters on the Badger they are still calling "staterooms," haha), but with an outdoor playground bigger and more playful (?) than many schools, a huge indoor all-season swimming pool and spa under a high chalet roof, an exercise room (with four screens) and several (not one) exercise machines, then a kids arcade of video and other games: note, several of those games were marked "Out of Order," two of the TV screens weren't working and the single bike was non-functional (but still, let's be at least fair: most motel fitness equipment receives such abuse from kids who use them as 'jungle gyms' to clueless seniors that there should be a humane shelter for them; this is not an excuse, good to better facilities should be much more vigilant in their operation-- and usage). But this traveler is not a theatre critic; the kids running through the place on a freak snow week in April in Michigan didn't mind at all, they were just happy to be somewhere. The motel also serves a fresh breakfast, real eggs coming from a real kitchen, two or maybe three cooks, all busy and humming, in another huge Alpine room next to the pool, plenty of space for everyone, not always the case-- and most of the license plates in the full parking lot were from Michigan, maybe just grateful locals happy to get out of a winter-bound house for a weekend. Surrounded by such general, familiar happiness, who wouldn't sleep (like a log) as I did-- while our picky, snippy, persnickety critics elsewhere may be looking at the age of the shower curtains. In fact, I would recommend that grandparents along for the Badger day trip wait right here until the kids get back. P.S. There is a famous, leather full-body massage tether chair in the lobby. Beats face-painting for the seniors.
We reserved a suite with a bedroom with a king, then 2 queens in other room, just what our family needed. Clean room. Decent breakfast with some hot food options. Nice Staff. Decent pool and hot tub. Boys enjoyed the game room and ping pong.
Poor construction of this sub standard Motel causes a amplified noise level to 1st floor. We were both woke up several times due to the people walking and running water on 2nd floor. I was hung up on when I called the front desk for help. You will not sleep till the people above you go to sleep. Other than that this is a clean nice looking Motel. But if you want a nights sleep you must be on the second floor or don't go.
I took my wife and 1 year old out for a mini vacation. We received a wonderful price the day of arrival and all staff were more than friendly. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to take their family out for a nice relaxing night away from the house.
I was pleased with my stay at this motel. We did not encounter any problems and were generally happy with our stay. I was further pleased with the free breakfast buffet provided. Rooms were clean and functional.
The room was decent, clean, reasonable FF&E; however, the heat system was messed up. Bad. Couldn't regulate the temperature in the room. Setting the thermostat to 70 produced a room that was so hot, the air conditioning had to be turned on to cool it back down. Became a vicious cycle all through the night since we were visiting in February 2016. We chose this place based on the availability of the pool and hot tub, which was supposed to be restricted to adults after 10 pm. It wasn't. When we went to the hot tub at 10:15, there were still little kids playing in it and making whirlpools. The staff had not intention of enforcing the "adults only" concept. So we ended up not being able to enjoy the hot tub and went, instead, back to our unregulated room. The hotel was sold out that night, so there wasn't much we could do about it. Disappointing, for sure. I think if it hadn't been sold out, things may have played out differently.
Was clean. Breakfast was better than most hotels. Walls are a little thin, had first floor room, hallway noise from and noise from upstairs was more audible than normal. Bed was average. Overall happy with my 6 night stay for business.
Nice place to stay for my sons weekend hockey tournament. Kids had fun in the pool and breakfast was adequate. Nice area for adults to hang out. Many restaurants in the area and convenient location - especially if you are there for hockey!
We had a nice experience with check-in. Jordyn was awesome! She got us a better rate and explained the rewards program well. The room was nice and clean with a comfortable king bed. We were on the second floor with no elevator so we had to take stairs with luggage, but nothing we couldn't handle. We had noisy neighbors the first night but the second night was better. They have a nice breakfast and an area with lots of seating. The breakfast is similar to the Holiday Inn Express - waffle maker, hot and cold food. The pool looked like it could have used a cleaning and the hot tub was nice. We didn't try the exercise room, but it looks small (typical). Lots of games, pool tables, etc. for families with children. The Best Westerns are individually owned so you don't always know what you are getting - but in this case, it was very nice.
We checked in very late at night and the front desk person was very friendly. Check in was fast. This hotel has quite a few amenities and reasonably priced. Nice pool, work out area, ping pong table, pool table and breakfast was pretty good.
I will be arriving on Wednesday 12/30/15 to stay for the New Year Festivities once again. I stayed for the first time ever last year and was so pleased with the staff and hotel amenities, especially the comfortable bed's, the excellent breakfast, and my favorite the massage chair in the front lobby waiting area..lol.. I can't wait This is like my home away from home.
The staff is very friendly and will do what is necessary for you to have a great visit. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast has a decent selection which changes daily. The business suites are very nice as well.
For 4 years we've stayed at this hotel for an annual tournament that we participate in. Every year we have a great time! Staff is very understanding of our needs. When players get a little rowdy, they deal with them in a very nice way. The pool area is amazing and there's a nice lounge/atrium area where all the parents can gather for socializing. A nice addition to this area is the ping-pong table and pool table! This helps keep players occupied and out of trouble! Our team loves it here and will continue staying as long as we participate in the tournament!
We went there with our friends so we enjoyed a lot. The location of this hotel is very good. The staff was good and well behaved. The rooms are quite good in size. They serve breakfast as complimentary in the morning which includes vegetarian and non vegetarian both. Overall experience of staying there is good and comfortable.
Best Western Lakewinds is a nice hotel, close to the sight seeing places in Ludington. We enjoyed staying in the hotel. The hotel provides complimentary breakfast, access to the indoor swimming pool, and large rooms. There are several good eating joints and restaurants close by to the hotel.
The staff was very friendly and very helpful to us. The hotel was in a very good location to stores and restaurants. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good . There was a lot of different items to select from. They were kept filled and the area was kept clean.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Hot breakfast served in the morning which had a nice variety of items. Convienient location in Ludington to enjoy Lake Michigan shoreline. Also easy access to the SS Badger ferry.
I will never go back! The customer service at the desk (Jordan and Shannon) were beyond rude and verbally attacked not only my family and friends, but others as well. They charged the wrong rooms to the wrong credit cards and I am still trying to get this taken care of. Absolutely horrible experience and put a damper on my wedding weekend!!!!
This was our second stay at the Best Western Lakewinds. What a nice surprise to find upgrades to an already clean and comfortable hotel in one of our favorite towns. The breakfast room was bright and new, and we enjoyed the excellent coffee and many food choices. We will definitely be returning!
Spent one night during a leaf peeping west coast tour with our family dog in tow. The room was nice with clean and comfortable accommodations. There is an indoor pool which looked nice although we did not use it. The morning breakfast was also adequate. When traveling with your four legged family member your choices are very limited. Given the circumstances, this hotel exceeded our expectations.
Nice hotel for one or two nights away. It's close to Lake Michigan, the North Breakwater Lighthouse and the SS Badger Car Ferry Departure. Plenty of amenities. The staff are always warm, friendly and genuinely happy to see us. Rooms are clean and have plenty of towels.
Took our grandchildren to see the fall colors and visit Ludington State Park. The Motel was in a good location for us. The grandchildren loved the indoor pool. Breakfest was good, offered a nice variety that the children liked.
All the Employees were Very helpful and very nice to us and our little puppy Nemo. We came to town for October fest, had a great time and thanks tonthe help of employees we had no troubles getting around.
We were very happy with our stay here on October 18, 2015. Clean, good location, reasonable. Check in was well handled and smooth, and we like the recognition keys to the room. The pool and hot tub are a good perk. Very clean and good temps. The Breakfast is very adequate. Our room was very comfy. Double queen beds made a good nights sleep in the quiet room a pleasure. We would stay here again.
Nice room great location and friendly staff. My husband and I always stay here when we want a little get away. This visit there was a little problem with the room we called the front desk and the problem was solved in 15 minutes. For the inconvenience they gave us a gift card to use on our next visit.
The hotel looked great and was very comfortable. The employees were very friendly and looked well after us. We were able to visit many interesting places in Ludington, Michigan. We did not get tired of our visit. We think that we will make plans for a trip to Ludington again.
We just spent a weekend at Best Western in Ludington for a family getaway. We had a suite with two rooms, across from the pool area. It was quiet, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast offerings were fantastic --we didnt feel the need to go out and spend money on breakfast. Kids enoyed the playground outside, pool and arcade, we all enjoyed the hot tub. Will def go back.
Nice, clean, comfortable and accommodating! Overflow parking lot a little concerning after dark, but rooms, hotel and staff were great. Hotel was booked full with what appeared to be a few large groups, but we were put in a quiet area away from the guests.
Our room was a bit smaller than we are used to with only one chair & that was at the table/desk. However the room was clean & quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The location is convenient as there are lots of restaurants, grocery stores nearby & it is on the way to or from the S.S. Badger ferry. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices and the coffee was good, even the decaffeinated.
1. No signage at the rear entrance hallway wall as to where my room was located! I had to back to the front desk to get specific directions about getting to my room. 2. No shampoo had been placed in the bathroom. I had to go to the front desk to get some. 3. Two of us in the room, but I discovered, the morning of check-out, that there was only one clean washcloth, so I used a hand towel to clean my face.
Check-in/Check-out was fast and accurate. The indoor pool and hot tub were open until 11 p.m. with the last hour for adults only. There is a small fitness center. For the kids, there is a small outdoor playground. The hotel is a long building so if walking is a problem I would recommend asking for a room closer to the lobby/breakfast/pool area. There is not an elevator. Our second floor room was a typical hotel room with a king bed, mini fridge, microwave, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, and coffee maker. Free wi-fi was also available. There were plenty of outlets for charging electronic devices. The room-darkening curtains are always appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. There is a complimentary breakfast in the morning but we did not go down to it.
The facility was in top shape ! The price was great .They have a great massage chair in the lobby, that is free. They have a pool table (one dollar). Nice workout room with many options. Beautiful pool. lot of high ceilings. Incredible breakfast including honey packets ,vanilla creamer and great coffee! The rooms have a big refrigerator but no microwave. Enjoy
I loves the quality of the room, clean towels, flat screen TV and nice pillow and lot of them too. Their breakfast is fabulous. They are one of the best hotels in the US and the world as a whole. If only they could charge me the same price like hot wire, price-line and those cheap other site that sell hotels online. I will always used best western. They are great hotel.
