A good hotel in the middle of town, close to the river. The location was good and the rooms as expected. The breakfast was varied and tasty. We did not eat at the hotel but there are plenty of options with bars close by and into the old part of town.
Nice people with smile and supports. Room was very clean and breakfast was quite ok. Restaurant next door was excellent.
Just spent an enjoyable 3 nights in this friendly hotel with a very warm welcome from Stephanie. Our Junior suite was spotlessly clean with a great view over the bridge. Breakfast was plentiful and was replenished regularly. This hotel is very convenient to all the sights nearby. Stephanie is a great asset to the hotel.
Room was tiny, booked a Comfort Queen Room - it was the smallest, hottest, most uncomfortable room we stayed in our whole trip - you couldn't use the air con even though it was 27 degrees outside, the bed was very small old and uncomfortable. Coffee was awful. Paid less for a Best Western Executive King Room in Le Mans and that room was superb. This hotel is tired, old, noisy and definitely not worth the stay in the room we had, far too expensive and very uncomfortable.
This hotel is in a great location in Laval. You can walk to many restaurants and bars and the old part of town. It is good for transport as it is within walking distance from the train station. The rooms are clean and have all the expected amenities. The breakfast is a good French breakfast with a variety of cheeses and deli meats and fresh breads. My room was on the small side, but fine as I was on my own.
Small and compact hotel, but spotlesly clean rooms, what you would expect for a 3*. Breakfast is basic continental, with the added bonus of egg cooked to order in various ways. Ideal place for when you just need somewhere to sleep and are out all day sightseeing etc.

We didn't book in advance so I think the price was good. We spoke very little French and the reception staff were very helpful and patient as we tried to explain that we wanted a room for the night. The room was very airy, newly decorated and perfectly clean everywhere. Overnight parking outside was free overnight. River and restaurants nearby so good location for a one night stay.
The hotel team were great - they made two superb restaurant recommendations and were attentive when we needed something (decaffeinated coffee at breakfast for example). The beds were comfortable and the rooms well designed. The location was great to explore Laval on foot. We had a lovely stay!
The facility is very clean and well maintained. My experience with check in process is very convenient even on Sunday evening. The front desk staffs are very supportive. Other exiting feature is the location of the facility and is in the heart of the city center . Overall my experience was delightful...
My team and I were attending the Laval Virtual Event. We have done so in the past but have been spread around across various hotels. The Best Western hotel was very accommodating and found rooms for all of us and even offered us a preferential rate. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble in terms of service. We will definitely come back.
I highly recommend this hotel. It's well located in the town centre near the historic old town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well furnished and clean with aircon, a safe and a kettle etc. There is an electric shutter and curtains, and the bed is comfortable so we had a good night's sleep ( our room was on the back so very quiet). There's a convenient but small carpark - I recommend to reserve beforehand.
The team exceeded any expectation helping us with places to visit, eat and other necessities. They are very welcoming! Room has a great shower and the rooms are not noisy (I'm sensible to noise while sleeping). Really recommend the place!
A good, well priced hotel, in a great position, in lovely town. The staff are all very helpful. There is some covered parking. Book this before you arrive. But there is plenty of parking nearby. The hotel is just over a bridge from the old town and chateau and next to a good restaurant. It is about ten minutes walk to the station and TGV links to the rest of Europe.
Reception: Reception team are extremely nice and were more than happy to assist us. Room / facilities: Room number 207 is on the 2nd floor and is extremely clean. The room has 2 comfortable single beds, hanging area, air conditioning, 2 sets of double glazed windows that open, light and heavy curtains, bath tub, in tub shower, tea and coffee facilities. The lift in the building is extremely small and fits 1 person and 2 bags. Parking: Night secure parking is available under the building for a charge. Access is around the corner to the rear of the property. There are very limited spaces available. Pre booking is recommended. Wifi: Very fast, reliable and password provided in room Breakfast: Available for a charge but was not utilized during my stay. Conclusion: Great location on the “center” of town, close to the Laval Castle, shops restaurants, fantastic staff and comfortable rooms Letdowns: Digital TV stations are very pixelated and dont load correctly to enable watching. Many channels also dont display at all and only show the LG (TV brand) logo. Whilst the hotel has installed many noise dampening facilities, the street facing rooms still get night noise from the patrons at the local bar and intoxicated street walkers at early hours if the morning . This was more noticeable as we did keep the windows open to enable work flow. There is no toilet roll holder, no hooks/ rail in the bathroom to hang towels. Location / Nearby: All that Laval town centre has to offer, tourist attractions and restaurants. Large Carrefour Supermarket is a 600m walk.
A perfect central location, with very clean and spacious rooms, a no fuss friendly service & bike friendly, I would recommend this hotel having stayed in a few of the others, both cheaper and more expensive, in town...
We spent one night at the hotel. The check-in/out process was rather quick, and the hotel staff was polite and helpful. Our room was very clean and the bed comfortable, although we found the pillows were a bit too large and soft. Location is great, walkable from the train station, and just a few minutes from Laval's center. All-in-all, a good experience.
I've spent a week there during a business trip and felt like home. The bedroom is cosy, has everything needed especially an amazing bed!! The breakfast is various and healthy. They've got just a few parking spots that you need to book. Everyone was very friendly. My only negative thing is the lack of wifi in my room. It might be too far to get a decent wifi signal and I regretted not being able to connect my devices, especially for work purpose.
We visited in February 2020, for 1 night. Friendly welcome by staff, small room but very clean, modern and comfortable. Underground parking for a small fee. Lovely self-service continental breakfast. Perfect city centre hotel.
This is a very clean and modern hotel. We had a very nice room with a lovely bathroom. The bed was super comfy. Staff are very friendly and speak several languages. Hotel is right in the centre of Laval next door to an excellent fish restaurant (that also does a good steak). I can highly recommend this hotel, we will definitely be back!
We were very surprised to get a room here as we had not made a reservation. The staff very pleasant & the room adequate and very clean. We even got the option of a shower and bath. It has the cutest lift I have ever seen so tiny. The continental breakfast was just amazing . It had so much choice , from Croissant's to lovely french bread, meats cheese, yogurt, fruit ect, ect. Plus endless coffee and fruit juice. Definately the best continental breakfast we have ever had. We will be going there again.
in the middle of Laval , very comfy and good value hotel , nice decor comfy bed , proper shower and off street private parking ,cant comment about Breakfast as we were still full from the Alscace restaurant right next door !!!
We stayed here overnight prior to a visit to Chateau de la Motte Husson. Our room was immaculate although I was disappointed with regards to the view. The receptionist was amazing - my handbag had been stolen on the train and she went well above and beyond the call of duty to help retrieve it.
What is it about a DO NOT DISTURB sign that attracts obsessive hotel cleaners and staff. Minding my own business, dozing, then a cleaner and staff member try my room door handle and wake me up. Unacceptable harassment. Women seem to think it's OK to try and enter a man's hotel room and upset him and harass him with a DO NOT DISTURB sign on. The manager, again female, says there is nothing wrong with dismissing the DO NOT DISTURB sign to offer cleaning. She in the comfort of her office, without caring about the FURTHER disruption to me suggests if I am not happy I should leave. How convenient for her, how inconvenient for me. I decide for my own security with this hotel managers policy on privacy to leave. Awful.
As is often the case in Europe, the room was not spacious, but was very functional with most all the necessities one would need. Interesting wall treatments with graphics outlining the wall lights, etc. The shower was small, but functional. The service desk was quite helpful and there was a breakfast option which we declined due to our early schedules. Also, there was a very nice restaurant next door that was open long hours (Les Relais d'Alsace).
I was traveling from Mont St. Michele to Chartres in the evening after spending a full day touring the Mont. I wanted to get closer to Chartres to shorten my journey in the morning. This hotel was surprisingly good. It's not located in the old city but it's only a 10 minute walk across a bridge over a beautiful river. There are several good restaurants within a 2-3 minute walk of the hotel. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Very clean throughout. Excellent continental breakfast. Extremely good value for traveling through.
Staff here are pleasant and helpful. However the room was a tight squeeze for two. Only one hook in bathroom on which to hang towels etc. Not a lot of storage space and no fridge. Comfortable bed and tea/coffee making facilities. On the other side of the river from the old town but only a ten minute walk away. Garage facilities available. Breakfast ten Euros - self service
Lovely clean hotel right in the heart of Laval, lovely helpful staff would highly recommend.Worth upgrading to a suite. Great restaurant just next door, serving delicious seafood. Don't miss the market on Saturdays
Nice staff, room did not have enough lights too dark, no net curtains/blinds overlooked on two sides, not so private without drawing curtains. Clean and comfortable good nights sleep, secure garage used. Location good for restaurants and bars.
Maintenance typically is an issue with French hotels but thus one was well maintained. Very central location, close to restaurants and bars. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was basic but good. Room was clean as well as well laid out. The elevator is the smallest I have ever seen but that is so unimportant more funny. Good deal for a economy style hotel.
Booked via the an online booking agency to obtain a low price. Found the hotel to be really nice, very situated in central Laval and easy walk to local shops and restaurants. Also found the restaurant next door to be excellent value for money and reasonable quality food. Even found it fully booked one night so we couldn't get a table !!! The hotel was very clean and tidy, good small double rooms, but with a kettle for teas & coffee. Clean bathroom with excellent shower. The receptionist Fleur, was extremely helpful and very pleasant and had great advice for restaurants in town. Happy to go back anytime.
This property has been recently fully renovated and is at a very high standard throughout. The location cannot be beaten as it is right near the historic heart of this lovely little city. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and parking is easily available.
After leaving the Perier du Bignon Hotel due to awful rooms & service we checked in the Best Western. We cannot praise them enough charming staff, fantastic rooms all with air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities and wonderful central location. They provided us with a full bucket of ice and champagne glasses for the champagne we had brought to celebrate my 50th. First class service and room for half the cost of the Perier du Bignon. If you are off to Chateau de la Motte Husson, like we were to see Dick & Angel, do not hesitate in booking this hotel over any other.
We booked to stay here with private parking. Our satnav was brilliant, as there are a lot of one way streets in Laval. The private parking is at the back of the hotel in the one way road just before you reach the hotel. There is a small lift to reception & bedrooms. Staff speak English & were friendly. The hotel is right next to a wonderful restaurant & there are bars & shops within 2 minutes walk, so this is in a perfect location. The room was fairly compact but very comfortable. We would stay here again.
My room was good, clean and big. The location is good, you can walk to the center just crossing a bridge and there are many restaurants nearby. Next door, one big fish restaurant which is worth the try.
Very good and clean Rooms .Parking at a premium but easy to get to .Good Breakfast . Staff very attentive . Small lift (a bit of a squeeze if you are of a size !!) Found food in the lift in the morning !!! Laval is a lovely quiet place with a castle to explore . Great base from which to explore beautiful France by car .Best Western have a good reputation .Will stay again
Stayed for two nights. Hotel standard is very good and above that of a budget hotel. It was clean and looked like it has been recently redecorated. The rooms are small but perfectly suitable for a couple of nights stop over. Laval is a lovely town. There is a nice restaurant next door to the hotel that serves delicious food but there are other eating places dotted around the town. Plenty of on street parking. The hotel has limited underground parking which they don't seem too keen on telling you about. We managed to get a place but it was more by luck rather than information. The only reason I gave this hotel 3 stars is because the air conditioning in the bedrooms doesn't work. Looking at past reviews this has cropped up as far back as 2015 but still it hasn't been rectified and when it's mid summer and the temperature is 22+ at night this is when you need air conditioning. We met several other couples staying here at the same time as us who also said it wasn't working in their rooms either so clearly not just our room
We stayed here for a business cum pleasure trip. The hotel is at the centre. We were close to restaurants, movie theatre, the palace/fort, the centre, the canal... everything. The service is very good. Neat and clean. Rooms are big and of cos' I speak in context of Paris hotels. The staff is nice and smiling. The breakfast is average and offers regular spread. The price was also okay considering the location and size of the room. I would recommend this hotel.
We stayed there for four nights, very clean, latest state of the art Wi-Fi, great location, Very good. Worth the trip and the cost. Excellent European breakfast. You will not be disappointed. I will do it again when I travel for pleasure.
Second time and ths hotel in two years and the reformation that had lived is incredible. Now the rooms are modern and the bathroom improved a lot. I will retourn for sure. Still can improve the breakfast that is expensive and could have more varietty to choose.
Stopped with my partner for one night, we were guests at a local wedding. Booked carpark as an extra as we knew we would be slightly tight on time, receptionist was very helpful, parking was secure , lift was tiny and room was splendid! In fact the room was the perfectly set up to get ready, spotless and thoughtfully designed as in plenty of places to put toiletries, a couple of decent windows to let light in , a huge decent mirror and plugs were you actually need them, would return if ever back in the area
Was here for 1 night on a recent cycling tour down from Caen. The hotel is located near to the east bank of the river and I found it served its purpose well. Modern and clean room with helpful staff. Was able to park my bike overnight in the basement car park. Short walk across the bridge to a big market and many restaurants nearby. Good WiFi and rate paid was fair. Would recommend.
Tiny lift could be a tourist attraction as worlds smallest hotel lift. Single beds were also very small particularly in width. Book your parking space because they don't tell you that you have to and who would expect someone arriving that day from England to have a car! If you phone ahead to get adjoining rooms for your family make sure you speak fluent French or it won't happen. Oh and by the way breakfast is not included. Room (116) was hot with no ventilation and window opened on to roof with noisy machinery.
Not exactly value for money - when we arrived there was a problem with our pre booked parking and the staff had to be convinced to alocate a space Our room was OK, but on a stuffy day the air conditioning was not working. Again, the staff were not able to help. The location was good and we liked Laval, but would not use this hotel again.
We have stayed here before about 5 years ago but since then the hotel has had a full refurbishment. Location is perfect, car parking is available underneath the hotel for a small charge but parking on the street is never an issue. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a room overlooking the rear of the hotel, very quiet. Bedroom was superb, spacious, clean, bathroom was immaculate. Did not have breakfast but it is available for an extra charge. Location is great easy walking distance to bars/restaurants and up the hill to the old town. Lovely.
Stayed here 4 nights. The main reason for the trip was to watch the French MotoGP at LeMans. Laval is an hour away from the track. We were greeted with smiles upon our arrival. We were early but this wasn't a problem, however when we went to the room we were given, it was already occupied! We were then given another room. It was well presented, having recently been refurbished (there are signs of refurbishment still in progress). Plenty of space to put clothes. Each room has a safe, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Continental Breakfast is €9.50 per person which we didn't have. The big bonus is secure bike parking in the base of the hotel. You pay €5.00 per day for a parking bay (you can get 8 bikes in one bay at a squeeze). The garage is closed at 11:00pm and doesn't reopen until 07:30. NOTE: They will not open any earlier than this so if you need to leave earlier than this, park outside. You have to pay a city tax of €1 per person per night. We booked through booking.com and although the website states there is air conditioning, it is not switched on in May as it is deemed not hot enough even though it was 22 degrees outside. The management did give us a fan. When anything was requested it was provided. That even included the managers car to bump start our van. Merci beaucoup.
This hotel is just steps from the river and city centre and 10 minute walk from railway station. Clean, quiet (if you have rooms on the back). Breakfast ok, not a huge choice but enough for many tastes. Wi-fi also good. Good for a biz stopover as was my case.
Stopped over here en route to Caen. Centrally located and near the river. Underground parking and a central location allows for a convenient, hassle-free stay. Nice rooms, good breakfast and helpful staff. A highlight was being able to cross the road from the hotel in the evening and sit outside Le Cap Horn, a great bar/restaurant and very popular with the local populace. Great beer and the best burgers in town! Recommended.
The hotel looks much better from the outside. Inside it is some 'budget' in nature. We had a large room with the panoramic view. The view towards the river was nice enough, and the large window was fun to sit around and watch the action below. The room was set-up for family occupancy, which being a couple we didn't need, but the extra space was nice. The only trouble was we were on the first floor and rooms above echoed to the noise of children running about. The bathroom was huge enough, but the shower was a massive disappointment - wimpish hot water pressure. The lift present an interesting feature for the hotel. Tiny - probably the smallest lift I have seen in a hotel. Put your suitcases in - press the floor number, then run the stairs to meet it on its arrival !!! Didn't bother with breakfast as there were a couple of better alternatives just down by the river (two mins walk away) Parking was easy enough and cheap with it, so no issues there, except you have to top-up in 2 hour chunks, but there is no reason to venture too far away that makes that a problem - the town is sweet, but small.
A good hotel for travellers passing through to further resorts. Located centrally in town for a good selection of restaurants would also suit business people not looking for 4 Star accommodation. Rooms were clean, my wife and I shared a good sized double with an on suite which was ample. It was good for one night.
We have stayed in this hotel 5 times over recent years. Each time we have thought about booking somewhere else next time, and each time have ended up there because there was no alternative hotel so well located. Overpriced for the standard of facilities, air conditioning not possible to adjust, so room was hot and stuffy. (This happened last year as well, when the staff made a little show of trying to change it for us, but it still did not work.) Impossible to open the windows because of extreme traffic noise and fumes - although, in fairness, the sound proofing was very good. We did not have breakfast, but it seemed very expensive - (great little bakery just next door, doing pain au raisin and croissants to die for.)
Nice hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Located central town close ro nice restaurant open until past 23. Professional and simple checking and check out. Contrassegno: difficult parking and very narrow alleys. Overall a good stay.
This place is fine for a night or two. We had quite a large room on the first floor which was comfortable and clean. Reception was efficient and friendly. The only problem is that the hotel car park was full and it was quite a walk to the recommended secure car park. The town itself is beautiful and well worth a visit.
This hotel is ideally located in the centre of town right next to the river and close to all amenities, with the exception of the railway station which is quite a step away uphill. Not the best of rooms though price perhaps reflected this however the shower was pretty hopeless and the noise from the road early in the morning a bit loud.
Stayed for three nights. Had a nice room. We were three sharing so we had an extra bed. No problem with the space.Bath room was cold but an extra efficient heater helped out. Bad pressure in the shower.Breakfast costed an extra 9 Euro, but was nice for being french. Had even boiled eggs:) Nice staff. All of the hotel was smoke free.Reception was closed after 10pm all days and closed 12am to 6pm on sundays.
Double room with a view over the street, fairly compact but with everything needed. Ensuite shower room. The hotel is one road away from the river so a two minute walk into the centre of Laval, there is a good bar/cafe on the corner the road open till late. Breakfast in the hotel was really good with a large selection to chose from (9 euros) but worth it. Parking is available in the basement for 5 euros. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would return.
Perfect location, just a few minutes from the river, old town, shopping centre. Quite an old building, but the rooms have been recently renovated to quite a high standard, with nice bathroom fittings, lighting, and furniture. This is the third time we have stayed there and each time it was a good experience. The room was not huge, but for a budget standard double, it was better than most. and cheaper than many others we have stayed in. Excellent sound proof glazing, so although our room was on the front overlooking the busy road, there was hardly any sound. Likewise there was little sound from neighbouring rooms or hallway. The airconditioning in the room was not working properly but they did attempt to fix it. They have managed to squeeze a lift into the old stair well, but the limit of three persons probably refers to three very small individuals. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
I have been staying at this hotel for several years now. It is ideally located in Laval being 10 minutes walk to the railway station and five minutes to the main commercial centre of the town. Laval is only 40 minutes by train from Le Mans. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. A good continental buffet breakfast is served in the morning offering an interesting and varied choice. The WiFi internet connection is fast with a reliable connection. Will be staying here again next year.
Laval is wonderful. Old cobbled streets with bars and food, lovely walks, beautiful river etc. This hotel is perfectly placed. Unlike the bed in my room. I almost fell over it as I walked through the door, it was like it was waiting for me to come burst through. The room continued to trick me. It has all the right ingredients. But somehow in the wrong place. Where there should be a mirror is a TV. The bathroom door too is in the wrong place, opening right next to the bath which separates the loo from the sink, about four strides from each other. But this is more of an observation than a moan. I had a deceptively roomy room. Not the greatest view, I'd have preferred to be facing the river, than French rooftops but they were nice enough. Breakfast was brilliant. The food was in the right place. Interestingly the breakfast room looks like it's been put together by a graphic design student. There's a lot of this in other French hotels. Maybe it's a clever way of looking good on TripAdvisor? Big lettering and bold stripes always make photos look great. Well done graphics guy. It works. But this hotel doesn't need to deceive. It's good, it's great value for money, the staff are impeccable and location perfect. Go to Laval and lap it up. You'll soon adjust to the French way of life and find that the anti Feng Shui thing is totally forgivable.
I was traveling on business, and stayed at the Hotel De Paris in Laval. The hotel staff was accommodating, and were helpful with my limited French. The hotel is conveniently placed near the center of town. There are a few good places to eat along the river that are a very short walk from the hotel. There is also a bakery and grocery right around the corner if you want to pick something up to eat in the room. The train station is a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
For a visit to the town of Laval, it is very central. Private parking for 6 cars which is free. Other parking possibilities in the near vicinity. No real place to stop in front to unload ! Reception is manned until midnight, afterwards entrance works with a code. Fantastic restaurant adjacent. Rooms a bit small, but adequate, nicely decorated and clean. Choice between shower or bath. Bed good quality. Rooms on third floor have double windows which means silence while you sleep. Elevator has a curious shape and only two persons can get in at the same time with (some) luggage. Breakfast a bit dissapointing at 9,50€ extra because meager in choice. But paying 61 € for the night in a single room there's really no reason for complaints. Free Wifi works superfast btw.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. It is one stop away going West from Le Mans on the train and is very convenient for me for my annual pilgrimage to the 24 hours of Le Mans. The hotel is in an excellent location close to the river with shops, bars and restaurants close by. The railway station is between five and ten minutes walk. The hotel rooms are very quiet, clean and comfortable and the hotel staff have always been very helpful and friendly. This year's trip to Le Mans was made with three friends and they were all very happy with my choice and location of hotel.
