We booked this hotel for four nights as part of a much longer birding trip around Mexico. The hotel has a nice pool area with bar and restaurant (although the little taco stall 200m up the road has much better food!). The bird names for some of the rooms is a nice touch and the location's good, being close to a big supermarket, other shops, a few restaurants and within short walking distance of the beach. Downtown is c20 min's walk away. However, we encountered a series of problems during our stay. On arrival, our room smelt of drains and the safe wasn't working. We complained and were moved overnight to an upgraded room, and were told that although we'd need to move again the following night, it would be to another king-size room and then we wouldn't need to move again . We agreed to this. But the following day we were told we wouldn't be in this room and had been reallocated to a small queen which was right next to the pool and had no fridge (our original room was a quiet one at the back of the hotel with a fridge). When we questioned this a different member of staff appeared (a manager?) and made it clear he wasn't going to change his mind and just kept repeating that we had only booked a small, cheap, room. It felt like he was trying to humiliate us. Despite having conversations in a bit of Spanish, English and through Google Translate, he refused to address the key point ie that we wanted a room compatible with our original one, preferably without having to move every night, but weren't asking for an upgrade. The room proved very noisy. One night despite the hotel saying the pool closed at 10pm, there were people shouting and screaming there, right outside our window, until well after 11pm with nothing done about it. So we were kept awake when we wanted sleep before an early tour start. The room was very cramped with only about 8cm between the corner of the bed and the wall, on one side, meaning you had to clamber over the bed to get out from that side. To cap it all, our coffee machine was removed from the room and when I went to reception they said it was because we weren't using it correctly. I'd expect to be advised, not suffer a confiscation! Overall it felt like we were being punished for complaining. We were very disappointed as we booked this hotel because we've always found Best Western very good in the past. We certainly didn't enjoy our stay at this one!
Stopped at Charlie's bar for lunch with my girlfriend and was charged 75 pesos for a bottle of Corona. Total rip off Never will I set foot in this place again STAY AWAY AT ALL COST Normal cost of a beer in high end restaurants like the villa Blanca which is around the corner is 40 pesos
This is our second visit, after a first one in 2018 and an abandoned attempt during the Covid years (hoping that's over.) The hotel is at the same high standards as it was before the pandemic, no service cuts or "adjustments" (too many other hotels are extending some of the pandemic cuts, pretending it's for our protection.) Rooms are large, clean and well maintained. Air conditioning works very well for a latitude 15 location. You might wait a bit to have hot water, not too long. The only detail for improvement in our room: the TV remote a bit old but we managed to handle it. The pool is excellent at low occupancy times, for us mainly to take another break when returning from the beaches. Pool towels need a towel card you get at check-in, this is a good idea. The restaurant has options for various budgets, my favourite: chapulines (local grasshoppers) sautéed in bacon and onion. Cocktails were also very appreciated. A couple of rooms have balconies with a hammock, for brave(r) people but great to have. Most visitors in Huatulco are not English speakers, try to be very clear and patient with staff in the area having a more limited knowledge of the English language; Google Translate (as text or voice message) is often used. Overall a great destination, we would return without hesitation.
We have just returned to Canada. And already thinking of when we can return to this excellent property. We stayed from Jan 5-29. If you are looking for a well run immaculate clean hotel but no bells and whistles like animal towels. This is it. Most of the time we had the lovely pool area to ourselves which we were fine with because of Covid. But every now and then we would meet folks from Canada and from around the world. Most days most folks who were staying at the hotel would go to the beach. And at night the pool would be busy. But from our room we did not hear a thing. Our hotel room was on the top floor with a large balcony. Two big beds very large closet and bathroom. We never had any problem getting hot water. Some times it was a little slow coming through but that can happen in the best hotels. Beds were comfortable for us. We had a great celling fan which we used most of the time. Only had to put AC on a few times. The hotel is very well situated. With in walking distance to the supermarket, beaches, restaurants, most everything. We had asked for a fridge in our room. It was great we were able to buy breakfast items and keep them in our fridge. I had brought a couple of plastic cerial bowls and plates down with us. This was our 5th time in Huatulco and we walked a lot more this time as we realized things were so close. Plus I got a mexican sim card for my phone and used google maps. Now the staff. The Hotel Manager Hector, is a pleasure to deal with. Plus his staff are wonderful. Especially his front reception. All I can say is we would not hesitant to stay here again. Until next year Adios.
For the price, in this area, I would have done waaay better at an airbnb. When I first arrived I was hungry and after reading reviews on Trip Advisor about the restaurant thought I would give it a try. The waiter got my order wrong twice-I pointed out exactly what I wanted on the menu and each time he brought me something different. Finally I got what I ordered and it was not very good. The limonada was too sweet and had hardly any ice. The room was sterile, badly lighted, no view and the bathroom could have used some tlc. There was NO HOT WATER. This is the norm in Mexico especially on the coast, but not with corporate western hotels that are charging these kind of rates. I tried to escape the room and sit by the pool which is the only reason this place gets 2 stars-it is clean, nicely arranged, etc. But....the pounding techno music made it hard to relax or work which is mostly why I was staying here anyway. I thought about getting a massage at the spa but it didn't look all that inviting and I can get one for half the price at my favorite beach. I would not stay here again and honestly wish I could get a refund. Not sure why this hotel has such high reviews, makes me not trust Trip Advisor
We have just returned from spending 2 weeks for the 3rd year in a row. We can't say enough great things about the Best Western Posada Chahue. From the time you arrive, till the day depart, Hector and all the staff make you feel like family. This hotel has made so many improvements over the last 3 years. One of the best improvements is the restaurant and the upstairs bar which now has some great entertainment and large TV's to get our sports fix. We have never stayed in a hotel that is so clean. The location is perfect, you can walk across the street to Chedraui for anything you may need. Also you can walk to La Crucecita in 10 minutes. The pool is perfect after a day at the beach. After 7 trips to beautiful Huatulco, we now call the BW our 2nd home. Special thanks to Hector, Recardo and ALL the staff for making our trip so special!! Counting the days for our return next year.
First i would like to thank all staff for a wonderful stay. The location is wonderful right in the middle of everything. While checking on our reservation we realized there had been a mix up,but no problem Hekter came over and made everything perfect he is the most amazing manager I've met.Now for the room sparkling clean everyday thanks to the cleaning staff,we had a two bed room which was quite large a lovely balcony with a hammock so relaxing. The room also had a refrigerator,so very nice to keep some beverages in,the beds were very comfortable. The restaurant was also very good which we had our breakfast every morning. The swimming pool area was so nice, sun if you wanted or shade its nice to have the option. They also have a second level outdoor bar which is kind of made like a tiki bar which is beautiful we would go up and play dominoes every night. They had super bowl party there which was so much fun its such a nice spot i wish more people would take advantage of it.Thanks again to the whole staff for going above and beyond and till next time
The hotel was very clean, our room was big and a comfy bed the people were super friendly and helpful. Pool was warm and inviting, restaurant had good food. It has a cantina on the property for your convenience For the money, you will be very satisfied. I could go on and on. I can easily recommend this hotel. A big thank you for making our holiday a good one.
The attention was nice, the waiter very polait. We ordered chicken soup and mushroom soup, both of them didnt taste good for any of us. Chicken soup's rice was sticked together wich only gives me the impretion that the rice was old, same with the mushrooms in the mushroom soup, they were wrinkled plus the flavor of both of them was horrible. We did not like the food at all. Drinks were fine. At the end we had leave the food and not eat it, the waiter asked me to write my full name and my signature in the bill. I see no reason to do that, he couldnt give me an explenation of why i should do it either. Its a place i dont recomend for food. I havent had the oportunity to try the rest of the stablishment but the restaurant was very bad.
We visited this hotel early December last year(I am not good with reviews writting sometimes:) ). Very clean and good for what it is. This is not a beach hotel, but you can take cabs to go to different beach. This is an advantage compared to a big all inclusive where you mostly stay there. They have a pool, good for the size of the hotel. The only thing is getting in/out the pool for somebody with mobilities challenges as there are no gradual steps. Restaurant is good and is very close proxiomity by a big grocery store. Huatulco is very safe and there are plenty of restaurants. We liked the hotel overall and most likely will be back.
Another year in paradise! One week home and we already miss Huatulco. It is definitely a restful holiday. We stayed again at Best Western, Posada Chahue which is located between Santa Cruz and Crucecita. Great location. Hotel is friendly and mostly quiet -except when we and our friends are there ! Seriously, a really a nice place. Rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. Restaurant has great food. All staff including the manager Hector - are extremely nice and accommodating.Very safe, clean and easy to get around to a number of restaurants in either little town and several beautiful clean beaches. Will definitely return next year - already booked!
Another year of excellence!!! My brother and I returned to the best western in Huatulco during February. The staff were helpful, friendly and fun. They would go above and beyond to make your vacation everything you want it to be. There were many changes to the hotel which made the trip even better. Wifi, an elevator, loungers by the pool, a barbecue to use if you like and many room upgrades. The best western is small on size and has that small town vibe. And if you love coffee don't miss the espresso!! Thank you to the owner and staff for another wonderful experience.
Pleasantly surprised. Never expected to find such a disability friendly hotel in Mexico. From toilets to shower and ramps, people with physical challenges are accommodated. Lovely and clean. Comfy beds, and super friendly staff. They even have an area for dogs to play. Also one for children which could make it noisy at times I suppose. Can't say I was overly impressed with food at the restaurant but everything else, including reasonable rates, pool table, rocking A/C swimming pool and a good location, compensates.
If you are a looking for a splendid place - with choices- for truly vegan fare in Huatulco then this is your go to spot. Quite amazing, really. I happened by the hotel as I was looking for a gym and the front desk staff was amazingly helpful and pointed me in the direction of Gym Huatulco (great place BTW - 300 pesos for 2 weeks). So tonight in looking for some vegetarian food I thought I'd drop by the restaurant there and look at what they had on offer.....much to my surprise they had 6 different veggie/vegan dishes. I got the vegan cannelloni and it was SUPERB! I don't think I've ever eaten such a tasty yet light dish....exquisite! The staff were so happy and upbeat and the manager and I ended up talking about how challenging it is to keep Vegan options afloat here. SO, if that's what you like, this is where you should go! Spotlessly clean restaurant and FANTASTIC R and B sound track playing, all the while high level football on the telly. What more could you want! Enjoy, you won't be disappointed.
..and I'll add a couple of details for what it isn't, for Canadian travelers. It's a solid good hotel in a seaside city: - Around 30 rooms but very smart design, the layout is impressive for the available surface. - Rooms are large and very well maintained and cleaned. Some have a small kitchen, small balconies (Juliet-style but you can exit and put your swimming suits to dry, no space for a chair), maybe four or five rooms have full balconies. - Air conditioning is very efficient and not noisy, safe included at no extra charge, free (and fast) Wi-Fi. - Good bathroom, water pressure can be low or slow to get warm. - Cable TV with around 90 stations, CNN + some movies + some sports in English. - Wheelchair accessible in all public areas and a couple of rooms. - Good restaurant, open year around 7 AM to 10 PM. A separate bar, both open air. - Pool rather large for a hotel this size - 11 loungers, free pool towels at the reception. - Great service, easy to find someone proficient in English if more complicated things are needed. - Very good location in Chahue - near Chedraui and inexpensive taxi drives anywhere (many restaurants / tourist areas are in walking distance). What it isn't: - A beach resort - this "beach resort" has a different meaning in Huatulco vs. Cancun for example. - A resort with evening entertainment, daily group activities etc. What makes the difference for Canadian travelers from cities with direct flights is the price of an all-inclusive package vs. purchasing flights and hotel separately. At least in low season (up to mid-December) the all-inclusive package price can't be beaten if you have just one week to travel. We'd like to return, depending on the flight prices mostly; Huatulco is a nice gem (although weather can be too hot for some even in December), and this hotel is a great choice for this area.
Well I met with front desk had some show me some rooms and found very clean , friendly staff , and choice a very nice room . The restaurant was very good, bar room with a widescreen TV very nice and again friendly staff. The kitchen staff are very good since meals were very good and exactly what I had ordered to the coffee cup
We didn't stay here but we ate here a number of times. Good food and reasonably priced. The Mexican pizza was amazing and were those jalapeños muy caliente!! The pepperoni pizza was delicioso. Great breakfast menu.
This February we stayed 3 weeks at the Best Western Posada Chahue in Huatulco. I cannot say enough about this hotel, the staff and the welcoming manager Hector. We were treated like family. Hector even asked for suggestions to make the hotel better. The staff could not do enough for us. From the front desk to the restaurant staff. Then pool is clean, and usually very quiet. Food at the hotel restaurant is excellent. Overall the hotel is comfortable and quiet - the rooms very clean. The location is great - between Santa Cruz and La Crucecita both within walking distance and right next door to a super store for groceries, beer and anything else you may want. Several restaurants are within walking distance and of course taxis are more than reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet, clean place to stay with friendly and accommodating staff. You can even bring your pets! Manon and Darryl - Delray Diva and Delray Dude!
This best western is an amazing place to stay! The staff treats you like family. Special thanks to Antonio, Roselba, Tito, Judith and the rest of the amazing staff. Hector and his family are always near by to help with anything that may come up. They even surprised me with a very lovely birthday cake! We've stayed at this hotel four times and will definitely be back. The food at the restaurant is also very tasty. Thanks all! See you in December. xo
Hector and his staff are wonderful. Hector goes above and beyond to make sure you feel at home and are enjoying your holiday. He even helped us book a hotel in Mexico City for our layover on the way home. The hotel is small clean and safe just what we love. We are already booked for our return next year. We miss everyone already counting the days.
I'm writing this review in the 2nd week of a 2 week stay. Last year after advise from friends we met while staying at a hotel nearby, we walked up to look at the Best Western. So glad we did. We were met by Hector the manager who showed us a couple of rooms. We were sold right then. After returning home we emailed Hector and booking for this year. We are both very low maintenance looking for a nice clean place to stay with nice staff. Well Hector and his team have gone over and above to make my wife and I feel like family. This is our fifth trip to Huatulco and thanks to everyone at the Best Western made this trip extra special. Our room was on the 3rd floor looking over the mountains with a large balcony, 2 chairs and table and a lounge chair. Everyday our room was spotless with fresh towels, coffee and water. Food in the restaurant was amazing and very reasonable. I could go on and on. Don't let the name fool you. The Best Western Posada Chahue is a top notch hotel in a perfect location within walking distance to shopping, beach and downtown. Special thanks to Hector and all the staff. Sergio for helping us get to the beach. Antonio in the restaurant and bar. Also really like to thank Maguel and Tito for taking 6 crazy Canucks out for the day of fun and sun.
As always service was excellent, food was delicious a great combination between traditional and healthy, close to local stores, downtown and of course the beach, nice and clean, quiet place, rooms are well clean and comfortable, all the employees were very friendly and helpful, thank you Best Western!!!
Staff was extremely welcoming & helped me with my Spanish. I tried to speak most times in their language with the help of a English-Spanish app on my phone. When I needed help with anything someone was always there. Felt VERY secure as a single women staying with them. The food in the restaurant was GREAT!! I tried several different items without a complaint. I would recommend them anytime. The kind of negatives are the pool is small for the hotel & construction was ongoing during the day(didn't disturb me though, as I was out most of the day!). I had a couple of nights where a little one on my floor was having a rough time. Went down to the front desk & asked for earplugs. They were @ my door within the hour! I'm looking forward to a return visit!!! Hasta el ano!! :)
The hotel is tucked away behind the Chedraui store ( like walmart supercentre). It is in a quiet area about three blocks from Chahue beach and a 30 peso taxi to either Crucecita or Santa Cruz. There is a small pool in a courtyard beside the restaurant. Basic rooms are fairly small , clean and bright, but without a balcony. There is no elevator but they are working on building one. Staff is friendly and helpful
the staff were excellent. the food was great. all around i have no complaints. best western just keep up the good work. they were all very accommodating, the kitchen staff, the bellboys, the room cleaners, i have great compliments for all of them. they all get a big bouquet.
The hotel has a home feeling. The rooms are very nice, comfortable style, super clean & quiet. The employees actually help for good. the restaurant is awesome!!! All natural food all fresh, excellent variety.
The hotel is well maintained and the staff is very nice and helpful. The location is very quiet and is between the center of town and the harbor (i.e. about 15 min walk to the center of town or the harbor). The restaurant is very good and there is also a small bar area above the pool. We did have a booking issue: we booked a king bed room through Expedia. On arrival we were given an upstairs room with two double beds (the double beds are seriously hard). We were told all the kings were booked. We decided to stay for the first night and the next day we were told that a queen bed room was available and they would move us into it for the remainder of our stay. They also eventually provided a refrigerator (which would have been included in the king bed room). We did notice a few very small roaches when we first moved into the queen room (which was downstairs) not sure if it is a hotel issue or a previous guest but no others were seen after the first day. We do not know if the booking error was Expedia's or the hotel's but the hotel staff did try to correct the issue . The staff was helpful and very pleasant so we are giving them the benefit of the doubt. PS the queen bed was much softer.
This is an excellent hotel. Its rooms are spacious, comfortable, airy and bright. The food is superb. The manager and his staff are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is super-clean and nice. And there's an easy, pleasant walk to the beach. Plus -- given all these virtues -- it's an incredible bargain!
Impulsively booked a family vacation to Huatulco and ended up here. Though we don't speak Spanish, we survived the week-long stay thanks to the genuinely friendly, patient hotel staff. Our daytime itinerary was packed so we had many early breakfasts and late dinners at their restaurant. We never tired of their small but tasty selection of vegetarian options and couldn't wait to savour fresh watermelon juice. The hotel grounds were immaculate and the spacious room we stayed in was well-furnished, cleaned daily, and air-conditioned. After the day's escapade, it was always welcoming to enter the room to cute animals thanks to Leo's mastery in the art of towel origami. Their wifi connectivity was solid and there were plenty of outlets available in the room to charge multiple electronic devices. My family and I enjoyed our time at this hotel and would stay here again since we are walkaholics. The hotel is conveniently located next to the Super Che grocery store, easy walk to Azteca Bank for currency exchange, and a leisurely walk or short cab ride to the neighboring towns and beaches.
They serve great breakfast! Tasty fresh fruit and amazing juices! A must try is their green juice very refreshing and a great start to your morning! The staff is friendly and very helpful. Quick service and good prices! Nice quiet atmosphere.
While we rated the BWP an overall 3, we really would like to have gone with 3.5 to perhaps even a 4, but more a 3.5. From the moment we arrived the staff at the BWP were simply the most gracious and helpful that we can remember. The hotel was clean, the restaurant was well staffed, excellent food and very clean! The grounds were well maintained and albeit the pool area a bit smaller, it suited this hotel perfectly and was also well maintained. But it was really all about the staff! Hector, our host, all of his staff just couldn't do enough to make our stay a good one. Special thanks to Judith and Carmen at the front desk and to Antonio in housekeeping. Bravo!
As a mexican traveler, being in several countries I must say I am dissapointed. I got a phone call at 2 am in the morning. This phone call was sent through the reception. This was a big scam where my personal data was taken. I asked for a full reimbursement due to the lack of security protocols. Please BEWARE. That night I was not the only one, another couple got into the same situation. My scam lasted 40 minutes, while the other couple lasted 4 hours. Although the city feels safe, the lack of security in the hotel makes your nights hell.
From the minute your taxi arrives, you are in the gracious and capable hands of Hector Perez and his staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable as are the pool and lounging chairs. There is an restaurant adjoining the hotel which has fairly good food and excellent service. About a block from the hotel is a supermarket where you can pick up fresh fruit and bread for a real bargain. Souvenirs, etc. are within walking distance in Santa Cruz. I was there for six days and would go back again in a minute.
Visited huatulco 100 of times this time was the best the hotel is great the restaurant is good any in huatulco the staff is friendly I stay for 7 days I only pay $350 dollars I have plenty money left to do other things thanks posada chahue I will return in months gracias
3 nights, 3 people in a double room. close to where you want to be, although its so hot and humid we wouldn't even want to walk down the street, we just drove! parking was free and almost just on the street so it was nice we could see it from the room. we were on the second floor, nice balcony with furniture (we only used it to dry our clothes after hand-washing which dries very quickly!). room was comfortable, beds, pillows, towels all nice. get 2 free bottles of water a day- EXTRA nice!. front desk and bell service-all staff very friendly and helpful. didn't use the pool table or air hockey but did use the pool and restaurant. pool was warm and small but overall nice to have. free breakfast wasn't bad either-hot cakes were great! we had dinner one night and desert was awesome-except the flan tasted like fridge, but the crepes were fantastic! Wi-fi was great and lots of plugs! on our next stay would definitely come back.
I have a baby and I let them know and they had a crib ready. Great management, friendly staff, clean hotel and the food was delicious, even the locals recommend their restaurant . Highly recommend and would definitely return. Pet friendly
We went there in the low season for a couple of nights and we wanted a middle-range option. You get what you pay for, and even a little bit more (free WiFi, cool on late check-out )... Don't expect the services of a palace, but overall it is a good, solid option. Recommended. On the bright side: - Charm of the architecture (small local-style building) - High kindness and attitude of staff (always ready to give you recommendation) - Cleanliness of rooms - Nice small pool - Location in Santa Cruz Huatulco - Good option for breakfast On the dark side: - Fitness room (even if you don't go there for that....) - Pets allowed (found one with his master around the pool...) - Lack of adaptability of restaurant (stick to the menu to avoid overcharge or ask before...)
A centrally located small hotel with a warm staff, beautiful public areas and very good food. It was especially nice to meet other guests from many different countries. Much more pleasant here than the larger hotels that cater to the package tours.
A lovely small hotel, in a quiet part of Huatulco. Pretty pool area, with very clean, comfortable facilities. A nice bar, and a great restaurant. All you could want in pristine accommodation, a quick taxi ride or easy walk to El Centro, beaches nearby. From the moment I arrived until my departure, I was treated like a queen. The manager went out of her way to honor my rather convoluted booking and could not do enough to ensure that my stay was perfect. The staff is genuinely welcoming. All, truly caring people who do their jobs with an easy grace, sincerity and joy. I felt like I was in the company of the sweetest, most competent, endearing people in every moment of the day. I have stayed in many hotels in my life, but have never been so impressed with the quality of the staff, from the manager, to reception, the servers, the housekeepers and the doormen. These people are in a class all their own; in fact, they embody the real meaning of class. Prices are reasonable. You do not have to be rich to stay here, but you will feel richer in many ways if you do. Certainly one of the nicest hotel experiences I have ever enjoyed, with the best staff in the world! I miss them all!!! And there is no sweeter way to start your day than with a huge breakfast served by the beloved man, Antonio.
