This is one of the best BW sites I've visited. The staff was very accommodating and personable. We had some children above us that were quite loud and rowdy. We cannot blame that on the Hotel but they did move us to the 3rd floor as well as address the family involved. It's in a great location very close to everything.
Room cleanliness was not up to standard. Staff was nice though. Price is higher than other hotels in the area.
Location great, I was tired, Holiday Express next door booked. Truly awful conditions worn carpets old old facilities furniture bed electric etc. in fact a circuit breaker blew in breakfast area and no one could get breakfast. Best western should seriously review their branding association w this property
Clean rooms, great bed we slept like babies! Breakfast was better than the usual with so many options and the Nescafe coffee machine was excellent, definitely worth the extra ten minute drive off the I95 for a clean friendly place to stay.
Pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The hotel lobby was inviting decorated for the season. The fellow checking me in was a gem. The room was spacious with a comfy king bed. Breakfast smelled wonderful and was filling. Two thumbs up.
Upon entering the lobby, it smelled musty like a wet mop. There was also a "motel" smell in the room. Bathroom needed a deep clean. TV remote and menu did not sync and was very difficult to use. Channel numbers did not reflect show on menu. Sheets were very nice however. Shower head was powerful. Overall, not a place we would return to and not easy to access from highway.
The Best Western Plus provided a clean, comfortable room at a competitive price. The bed was extremely comfortable. A mini-fridge and a microwave were available. The third floor was exceptionally quiet, but the ice maker was broken so a trip to the first floor was required. Breakfast is included and was pretty standard with scrambled eggs, sausage, self-made waffles, bagels, yogurt, etc. Coffee is available around the clock. Service stations, some stores, fast food, and other restaurants are nearby.
Nice hotel. Breakfast was a decent variety, not very hot though. Rooms were clean. Plillows were on the small size. Pool looks like it hasn't been open for a while. Housekeeping was very friendly. Hard to get into the location.
The carpet in our room was horribly stained. Not just a few spots but big nasty stains on the entire carpet. One of our washcloths was torn and disgustingly stained. It looked like it was retired from shoe-shinning service at the nearby Army base. The A/C was noisy, and when we shut it off, it ticked like a semi-truck's engine cooling off. Even though it was after Memorial Day, the outdoor pool was not in service, and the temps were in the 80s. After a day of hiking and sightseeing, we were looking forward to a cool dip in the pool to no avail (queue sad trombone sounds here). However, the parking lot was new and nice...
We picked this hotel based on its location from our destination and rating. This hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was what I expected, but that is a good thing. i felt secure there and will use this hotel in the future since we will be repaeting this trip.
To get into the hotel, someone must let you in. The front door was locked. The rooms are very dated. The sheets on the bed were stained so we asked for fresh sheets. We got them but those were also stained. I could not sleep. I covered the bed with paper towels and still could not sleep. We only stopped at this hotel because it became late to continue our journey and needed to rest. I felt very disappointed that it was rated so highly.
This hotel was very clean with large rooms in a quiet area. There is a wawa right next door if you need any snacks. Staff was absolutely wonderful and the breakfast selection was great (pancake and waffle maker, cereal assortment, hash browns, sausage).
We requested and received the top floor, quiet side. An additional perk was that the hotel wasn't very crowded so that made for a nice quiet stay. Breakfast had an ample selection. Unfortunately the pancake machine wasn't working properly. That's okay, the waffles were just fine. The only problem we had was that the television and remote weren't synced. The front desk clerk came up to give assistance and couldn't get them to pair, either. I talked with Kayla the next morning and she was very apologetic and explained that the remotes were quite new and they were still trying to get them to work properly. She was very kind. If we're back in the area, we would stay here again.
The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable, but the hotel is in need of a refresh. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Served from 6-9 AM. I had no problems with the internet. The TV in the room was large
We really enjoyed our stay here. The team were very helpful & friendly, location was fab for local attractions & lots of restaurants. Rooms were really big and immaculate, the bed was soooo comfy too!!! TV was a tad confusing however the reception staff helped us with this. Breakfast was great (especially the wedges!!) and it was refreshed continually by the team. Overall really great stay and we'd definitely stay again.
This place was very clean quite. The staff at check in made you feel welcome. The room was very comfortable with the Air Conditioner. The internet was up to speed. The breakfast was Good. The only thing was by the time I got to my eggs they were cold. That was my fault.
Good place to stay if traffic noise doesn't bother you. It is located right next to a highway which may keep you from a good night's sleep. Place was fine though, clean, and good breakfast options included. Staff is friendly and helpful.
We have been going to this area for many years. We have always stayed at this property when in the area. It has been dropping in our opinion the last several years. We hate that it is going down since it is very convenient for our trip.
After long day at Baush Gardens. Quick overnight stay. Roughly 9 hours until checkout. Room expectations as far as bed linens better then expected. Had actually taken extra blankets for tr kids in anticipation. But they where not needed. Bed was layer for warmth and comfort. Hot breakfast was provided. Kids enjoyed sndnactually where able to fill up to sustain then at WCUSA unt our evening departure from the park. I would recommend and also stay at this location again myself. ot needed. Linens where actuasMN
On a long trip up I-95, I stayed at this hotel because it was reasonably priced. Also, it is across the street from WAWA, a great convenience store with fresh prepared food, lots of drinks, and gas. The hotel parking lot was packed, but the hotel was as quiet as a church. What really amazed me was how clean it was everywhere. The halls, the stairways, the room, was immaculate. Comfortable bedding, nice size fridge, TV with internet access.
Clean and friendly. Beds were comfortable. For us a great location. Plenty of food options around. No smoke smell at all. So many hotels have the old smoked in smell, this was pleasant. Breakfast was adequate. Small options to choose from, but waffles were a big hit.
We frequently stay in Best Western Hotels, but NONE have ever been as clean or professionally run as this one. Both the public areas and the rooms were spotless. Our beds were made, waste baskets emptied, and fresh towels were hung daily. The staff was courteous and dressed professionally. I wish all Best Westerns were like this one.
Great Hotel friendly staff. We stay at this hotel twice a year every year. and it always have a friendly staff and vey clean. As most BW's the beds are comfortable . we were disappointed in the breakfast that they usually have, this time was just grab and go. coffee not up to par. hopefully this will return to normal like the othe Best Wester have.
Hotel was decent. Could go for a nice refresh. Some wallpaper peeling in hallway and you can see where they repaired roof leaks and didn't repaint. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was your normal scrambled eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. There also were pastries and yogurt. Would stay here again when visiting. The only bad we found was the tub mat was horribly discolored and there was mildew on the bathroom door.
The hotel overall is decent just need to work on internet quality and fix the equipment in there fitness center or get new equipment it's really outdated and does not work at all. Very disappointed with them
This is a very nice hotel, convenient to I95, restaurants, and gasoline. The hotel is very clean and the staff is excellent and accommodating. One thing - the front rooms are noisy because of the flow in and out of the gas station across the street. We did not think to ask for a room in the back but we will next time.
Just what we needed for an overnight stay on our trip back north. Clean, comfortable room. Mattress was firm with a selection of pillows. Breakfast had a nice selection of warm and cold items. Friendly and competent front desk staff. Hotel cleanliness a 10.
I was returning from Florida and just spending the night on my way back to New England, and I can't say enough good things about this place. When I checked in, the desk clerk (owner?) asked if I needed information about any restaurants and provided me with menus. When my food arrived without utensils, he saved the day by providing me with everything I needed. The room was spacious and very clean. The property is also set back a bit from the main road so it's very quiet. I'll be staying here again on my next trip.
Very great location off of the highway and near many restaurants and gas stations. Looks like it could have been renovated recently, very nice lobby/front desk area. Friendly staff that was very prompt and polite
Great value you get first class accommodations for a great price easy on and off 95 Great location , not much outside noise or inside , our rooms had very high ceilings Which I believe helped cut down the noise
I was there for 3 nights and had to have the room keys recoded 3 times. Room was on 3rd floor and you don't find out the keys don't work till your trying to get into your room, so back down stairs and wait for the front desk person and the pillows just suck.
My only guideline is to request a room not on the highway side. Very noisy until about midnight and again beginning at 6 a.m. If those are good sleeping hours for you then it's a great nights stay. A quick on/off the highway.
Excellent place to stay. Convenient to the highways and restaurants. Excellent staff. Comfortable beds . We slept very well, in a beautiful room. Breakfast was provided and offered a good selection of breakfast foods.
Exceptional hotel!!! Great staff and great location (one mile away from Fort Lee). Customer service was exceptional. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel also had a nice/clean outdoor pool. I will definitely stay at this hotel in the future.
It was actually was very clean, checking in was easy bed was comfy and pillows were good we had nicely clean towels and full rolls of tissues I have no complaints we ate breakfast there it was good, the hotel was very closely to stores and restaurant food or other items that you may need.
The hotel seemed new or remodeled recently. Everything was very clean and everyone seemed polite. Beds were firm and rooms were clean. Lots of options for food. Will stay here again. There were some limitations with COVID-19, so the breakfast was just ok. Not much options for them, so it was not their fault. Will not stop me from returning.
Have stayed here yearly on our way home from Florida to Massachusetts. Always clean, staff always friendly and helpful. Breakfast always good variety, plenty. This time was during the Coronavirus, so we were a little nervous, but rooms clean, extra precautions being taken. Breakfast area was understandably closed but they still offered coffee, wrapped muffins, fruit. Recommend highly!!
I have visited Hopewell, VA several times & stayed at this Best Western Plus Hotel in Hopewell. Overall, pretty easy to get to and in a busy area of town close to the Interstate....but pretty quiet still. Rooms are clean, decent-sized & the staff is excellent and always been very good to myself during my stays here. Beds are huge and very hard....if you like hard beds. I prefer a softer bed, but still the beds here alright. My room had a TV, microwave oven, compact fridge and either 1 or 2 queen or king-sized beds plus a chair with stool, table desk and chair. This is pretty much what I had in all of my rooms during my several stays at this hotel. They have a basic breakfast each morning....very basic and food not really very tasty or good. There are local eateries maybe 2 miles up the road heading west from this hotel where you can get a better breakfast. In late 2018, this hotel underwent an exterior "refreshening" or painting the exterior to give this place a slightly better look. This place looks good, is pretty good for a night or a few nights here and the staff...especially the front main desk staff are overall awesome and wonderful. Prices here are about typical with other rival hotels in this area...a bit expensive. I will return here in the summer of 2020 for my next visit as well. I gave this place an "excellent" rate.
Speedy check in and out. Very caring and professional employees. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was really good with a wide variety of food to choose from. Love the decoration of the lobby. Definitely recommend this hotel.
The handicap bath area does not meet basic needs. Shower (roll-in) is poorly designed, soap dispensers are very difficult to use (bring your glasses so you can tell which is which) shower head impossible to use other than handheld with short hose.
clean place, every thing in order, very friendly and helpful staff, very close to Fort Lee Army Base, breakfast was better than other hotel chains offered. plenty of places to eat out also, front desk gave us a list of places to eat out.
If u check in early like I did at 5am you'll be asked to leave by 3pm to make room for there loyalty customers. Needed to take my 10hr break due to comm driving restrictions and only wanted to sleep Fat chance on that Will never return
The hallway carpets were spotless. We have stayed in many hotels that you can see pieces of paper, etc. on hallway carpets. The room was very clean, and it was obvious that the housekeeper took pride. Every part of the hotel was clean and neat in appearance. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. We drive a little out of our way to stay at this hotel each year.
Stayed here to attend a wedding at nearby ( ~20 minute drive) Shirley Plantation. We'd never been to this part of Virginia, which definitely feels more relaxed than the hustle & bustle of living near Baltimore. This hotel was just what we wanted- clean, safe, efficient service, with a pleasant/welcoming staff, and in a great location to have restaurant options as well as opportunities to visit several nearby historic sites. The complimentary breakfast had sufficient hot & cold options & they had coffee available 24/7 (besides the coffee we could make in our room) & we took advantage of that .
Once you enter the lobby, the staff will greet you with love. They make sure that you are happy with everything and are willing to help however they can. They don't only greet you the first time but every time you enter the lobby.
other than bath fan and air conditioner vents (which needed to be taken apart and cleaned), very clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff, very good breakfast. Not inexpensive, but much less than all other mid level chains in this area. Will definitely be back every road trip
I have never stayed in a hotel that smelled so clean. I am not sure how they do it but it always smelled freshly cleaned each time we would walk in our room. The whole hotel smelled clean and was clean even the restrooms down in the lobby area. The AC in our room REALLY worked, which we liked because we prefer to be cold. The AC in our older sons room did not work, we called them and they moved them to another room right away. The water pressure was good. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. We would defiantly stay there again if in town. We had a large group with us and no one had any complaints. It was also very quiet.
My room was pleasant, very quiet, and looked out on a forest. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well in it. The only reason I didn't give this hotel 5 stars was because the breakfast was kind of lame (same egg style and sausage every day for 3 days) and the fitness center equipment had issues - the elliptical didn't work at all and I couldn't figure out how to make the treadmill go more than 10 mins. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful.
Room smelled like mold, cockroach in the bathroom. The bed was soft and cheap. A/C worked great. We stopped on our way home from the beach to break our trip up. I have stayed in many BW hotels and this one is outdated and dark. The food quality at breakfast was terrible. This place needs an overhaul
Room was very spacious but needed some updating as rugs were a bit worn. Friendly staff and breakfast was delicious! Noise level in room was hard to deal with as the plumbing from above could be heard when toilets were flushed! Fan/AC was loud but overall bed was comfortable.
A little strange getting to it because of road configuration. Had to wait to check in as front desk person was getting some supplies. Clean, comfortable and quiet at a reasonable price. For a one night stay, nothing else is needed.
Service is good, I reserved one room, but I feel that is crowd for live three people. I want to book another room, the desk clerk help me to book a room. My son like to wash clothes, but the laundry is occupied. She help my son quickly to wash the clothes. Thank you!
Room was large and maybe recently re- decorated. Bathroom, too, nice and large. Bathroom fan very loud. Manager was very helpful when we were looking for a place to eat. Breakfast was just ok. Easy on -off from I-95 and convenient to gas stations.
Hotel is a little awkward to get to because of the configuration of roads. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet.I would have given it a higher rating but what my wife and I witnessed was not impressive. We were both sitting in the breakfast room , having coffee. The breakfast bar had just closed and the attendent was in the process of cleaning up.There was 1 fried egg and 1 sausage patty in the warming tray. The attendent was about to throw them in the garbage but someone, whom I believe was the front desk manager told her not to do that and to put it in the pantry as it can be served tomorrow. I know that cost cutting is necessary to keep prices down but this is a little over the top
What a wonderful experience....First time at this hotel...Usually stay at La Quinta on ou trips back and forth to NYC from Atlanta but since we didn't have our dog this time we decided to try this one....Excellent choice...Very clean, good breakfast and nice staff...Will definitely be back!!!
Just a one night stay on my way up to NYC...Nice staff, very clean and the breakfast was good...close to a good amount of restaurants and shopping..I will definitely be back the next time I travel back east...Keep up the good work!!
Stayed here 4 nights while visiting a friend. The only positive is that the staff was pleasant if unhelpful, and the room was fairly clean, other than the headboard which was greasy about halfway up. Our first 2 nights, we were woken up by people screaming at each other next door-then when they were done fighting, they had other activities until 5 am. The next night a different group was talking and going in and out of their room (door slamming) for about 45 minutes. The fact that both of these events happened at exactly 3 am, makes me think that Hopewell has some sort of meeting or convention at 3 am we did not know about. When we complained, both times, we were told that the party checked out and it should be better. The walls are thin. The bed is hard. The pillows are USED/time to upgrade. The breakfast is inedible. The coffee is bad. We did not get shampoo, soap or lotion refilled in our 4 days there. And if someone from “management” gets on here and says they are sorry they didn't meet our expectations, BS. When the front desk was unhelpful, I spent about 30 minutes trying to contact Best Western-no luck. Finally sent an email which went unanswered. When we checked out and complained a third time, we were given points on our BW account (that we had to create)
We were in town for a concert at the beacon theater . The rooms were very clean staff was very friendly . They offered a full breakfast. Very quiet . My only complaint was there were no working g snack or drink machines at this property , there are several gas stations very close by but to be honest I had been drinking and didn't think it was a good idea to venture out crossing the street. This is an excellent clean property I would definitely stay again .
This is really what you expect in a B W Plus. Great Staff, clean comfortable rooms, Nice Hot Breakfast . Staff made sure I was on a recent promotion. Coffee and cookies always available . So many BW have Plus after the name and don't live up to that rating.
Stopped in Hopewell ahead of a major snowstorm on way North and stayed at a local hotel part of a national chain. Small room, worn carpets, but acceptable. Decided to stay one more day due to the snowstorm and checked out the Best Western Plus next door to see if they had a suite we could use to spend the day. Good decision! Jacqueline at the front desk showed us a kitchenette we could get in to immediately (9:00am.) and we moved. The BE+ is clean and carpets look fairly new. Very much enjoyed the much larger room and will use this as our "go to" place on future travels.
I'm torn between giving this a "poor" and an "average"...so let's just say "low average" as in a C minus grade. Yes, the staff are sweet and nice, the few I saw, but that doesn't make up for some of the defects we experienced, starting with check-in. I made a reservation by phone through the main BW 800 number. When we arrived, well over an hour later, the desk clerk couldn't find the reservation, even after she put in the confirmation # I had been given....then "magically", it appeared. The lock on the door to the room didn't catch and lock unless you slammed the door, hard...and if you want to put on the dead bold you have to lean against the door to keep it shut tightly. (That's room 307, by the way.) The water pressure in the shower was meager. The bedding was nice enough but inadequate and there was no extra blanket in the room. The commode is meant for very short people and children. On the plus side, everything was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the place was very quiet. Breakfast was that in name only. I arrived just at its start time: the "scrambled eggs" had the texture of pea gravel, the sausage was over-cooked and curling, there was bacon cut into 1 inch pieces sufficient for 4 servings, the bread looked dried out, there was approximately 1 inch of oatmeal in the crock-pot and the 2% milk was sour. I could easily be convinced that it was all from the day before. When I looked at the eggs before leaving the motel an hour or so later, the eggs looked more normal, so obviously someone knows how to make the eggs properly. The coffee, however, was good. Overall, this site does not rise to the "Plus" level nor was it worth the price.
This hotel was great, quick check in and close to our destination. Would stay again if back in this area. There were 3 of us in my group and beds were very comfortable, close to shopping, food. Quiet tucked in hotel, not on a noisy street, bonus!
very nice property, clean neat and enjoyable. Stopped at this location on my way down to Myrtle Beach and was pleasantly surprised. All amenities were operational, classy room décor more so than the typical best western. with Maria staffing the front desk, this should be best western double plus hotel. Don't miss this best western gem when traveling I-95 near Richmond
This is our second time to stay at this hotel. The first time we spent three nights and this time we stayed one night. Rooms are excellent, clean, comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend this Best Western if you are in the area.
The hotel was clean and checkin was easy. Our room smelled musty and the sheets felt humid. Breakfast was ok as good as can be expected for free. I would suggest a dehumidifier in rm 208. Checking out was a breeze. Plenty of parking on site.
Stayed at Best Western hotels three time over the past few months. Short stays all, but all very nice. Friendly and helpful staff here at Hopewell, along with immaculate facilities. Enjoyable visit. A-OK.
Stayed there this past weekend; hotel isn't much to look at from the outside but it's clean and the staff are friendly. I accidentally booked it for two nights and checked out early and when I tried to get refund for the unused night, I was informed that there would be no refund. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it was inarguably clean and the staff were friendly; charging folks for a night they didn't even stay is unsat as can be.
Our stay at this hotel was very nice. We stay here whenever we come to this area. Normally at least once a year. We have been coming here for quite a few years & always stay here. The staff is always friendly & helpful. All of my out of town family stay here. We usually occupy 4 or 5 rooms. The hotel is well kept.
The hotel is just off the highway and easy to access. The room was amazing with a kitchenette and a wonderfully comfortable bed. There is a small pool to cool off on a hot day. The breakfast was good and hot for the road ahead. Great value for a super room to rest when you're on the road.
I look for a clean, updated, hotel with good free breakfast, basic amenities, and I try to stay right around 100.00 The last two trips I just took to two different states, I ended up in Best Western Hotels because my extensive reading of reviews showed them to be the cleanest and best rated for the price right around 100.00 range in the area where I wanted to travel.
The staff here are great especially Maria. She helped us secure a room even though we made a reservation for the wrong day. We just drove 350 miles and when we arrived we realized we reserved the wrong day and she bent over backwards to get us in a room for the same rate we booked all with a smile on her face. Outstanding!! I would recommend this place to anyone traveling or coming to town for an extended stay
The breakfast was very limited. Our room's window was leaking, so we heard dripping the entire night and the window cornice box was soaked. We told the front desk and they moved us to another room for the second night, but there was still dripping- except this time it was outside the window from rain dripping on the metal casing. The area convenient for the Petersburg Battlefield, but was a little shady... especially the nearby mall.
We have stayed here many times on our way to and from Florida. Very convenient. Located right off the 295 by-pass around Richmond. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Very clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. Good basic breakfast. Convenient to highway. Quiet. No disappointments. Pool and laundry areas appeared to be very well maintained although we did not use them.
We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend to visit our soldier at Fort Lee. We were very please with the facility except for the pillows. They were terrible, like a bag full of rolled up socks. It is very difficult to get a good night's sleep on horrible pillows. I know we could have complained to management but figured it would be pointless assuming all their pillows were similar. That being said, everything else was exceptional. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and accommodating with the appropriate amenities and nice big fluffy towels. The TV worked well with plenty of channels including HBO and ESPN. There was a little frig and a microwave and a small coffee maker that worked well. The complimentary breakfast was very good, and the pool/pool area was clean and fresh with nice pool side chairs and tables. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We paid $113 for a king room through Hotels.com.
Desk staff were great, room was immaculate, large and quiet. Mattress was very good. Areas was safe. Breakfast was adequate for travel. Shower pressure was not very strong but adequate. Would definitely stay again if we were ever in the area.
If you need a place to stay overnight, this might fit the bill. I cannot understand for the life of me these 5 star ratings. Breakfast was plentiful but okay. I would choose another hotel if I was passing through again.
So far our stay has been enjoyable. The front desk clerk, Maria, could not have been nicer. She found a bench for the bathroom for us. So we could have 2 beds in place of one. She has gone beyond what would be expected. She us a"keeper."
One of the nicer hotels in the area. Clean, comfortable rooms. Courteous, helpful and accommodating staff. Good selection of breakfast items. Defintely would stay here again with my family. Highly recommend!!!
We travel this way often and have stayed at this hotel several times. It is clean, comfortable and convenient and we are always made to feel welcome here. We look forward to stopping here again on our next trip.
Easy off & on from the interstate...well lit area & plenty of parking. The front desk staff was professional, seemed well organized & check-in was a breeze. Our 3rd floor room almost appeared to be brand new with excellent furnishings & lighting plus very comfortable bed & pillows. Nice TV...lots of stations...mini fridge, coffee maker, good wifi, microwave plus a spacious sitting area & surface area for our laptop. Sure didn't need anything else. Spacious bathroom with a "power shower" that had ample pressure & plenty of hot water. Complimentary breakfast was pretty standard, but everything was properly prepared & quite good. Always a good thing when a place does things right & these guys do.
This hotel was very clean and quiet. I reserved two rooms, and was pleasantly surprised when I was “upgraded”. The front desk and house keeping staff always greeted us with a smile. This hotel was very close to Fort Lee and other shops and restaurants in the area. I would recommend this hotel to others.
Didnt get to stay after starting check in process. Website I looked at said pets ok. Tbey are not! But no worries hotel next door allowed pets. Lobby here was nice and had great reviews. The front desk lady was super pleasant and military discounts excepted if soldier is with you.
Best Western again provided my wife and I an excellent travel night. We can count on The Hopewell Best Western to care for us after a long drive. Alba, the receptionist, was extremely personable. Another great night in Hopewell Virginia.
The best western in hopewell va is the best in town. The room has plenty of space and was perfectly clean! The Wi-Fi is very fast and the cable is great. Nice large screen TV. The bathroom has a very nice and modern style tub and sink! The service is the best I've ever seen! The staff are such nice people and so friendly! They made me feel like I was right at home. The breakfast was delicious. The coffee tastes like it was made at a starbucks coffee shop! Overall my stay was perfect! Everyone that comes to Hopewell has to stay at this hotel, you won't regret it!!!
Chose to stay here last minute and couldn't believe how well this hotel is kept to standard. The WiFi was at a 40mbs speed, exceptional service , and the room was very comfortable and clean. Excellent ! Well appointed room with complimentary WiFi access. Superior service and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. Excellent customer service.
The location, right off I 295 is excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and well appointed. Front desk reception was friendly and efficient. Parking was very close to room. Coffee/tea were available continually in breakfast room. This review would have been A++ but for the breakfast. Stayed here last year on same date. I recall last year's breakfast experience as much better. Spoke to a couple in the breakfast room, at breakfast who said this was their 3rd year here and the breakfasts seemed to be continuing on a downward trend. I experienced eggs and bacon whose warming receptacle was turned off and cold when I arrived at 9:00 a.m. for a breakfast that went until 9:30. No yogurt had been put into the refrigerator after I took the last one and several other guests arrived after me. I was thanked by a guest for requesting that the yogurt supply be replenished. The waffle batter was also so thinly mixed that messes occurred. Not sure if these issues resulted from poor decision-making by the breakfast attendant, (was in the room often), or by someone higher in the administrative chain. Not acceptable. I will reconsider staying here again.
Courteous staff. Overall the facility is very clean. We had a dirty kleenex behind an armchair, but these things happen. The rest of the room was very clean. Comfortable beds. Good value for the money. I prefer higher quality items for breakfast, but the kids loved the sugary cupcakes.
I stayed at many Best western but never experienced this much lack of care. The room was smelled of cigarette overpowered by heavy cleaning deodorants. There were stains on the carpet resembling like old food. I had to leave the door open for couple of hours to let the air out.
The lady at the front desk was super nice! She was helpful in finding a room that was already clean and available since I arrived a little early. I enjoyed my stay and I would probably stay there again when I go back to Hopewell.
The staff was VERY nice and helpful, the room was clean and spacious, the common areas were very clean, as well. Location was 5 minutes from Ft. Lee (the reason we were there) and several restaurants. It was an excellent room for a great price.
This was out first time staying at a Best Western Plus. The location was convenient off of I295 in Virginia. Maria at the front desk could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. Room was clean and fresh and so was the bathroom. The hotel was full but very quiet. You did not hear any noise from the other rooms. The breakfast was hot, fresh, and plenty. The coffee was also very good, much better than most you find in hotels.
I would stay at this hotel always, wish there were more like them. Rooms were wonderful, clean and decorated very tastefully. Check in was quick and easy with an extremely nice lady helping me. Beds were wonderful and so very comfortable. Shower was felt so good you didn't want to get out. Lobby was beautiful. Breakfast was set up very well and tasted great. Several staff asked if they good help with anything. All staff were very nice and courteous.
Great experience! We make it a point to plan out trips north and south to include a stay at this establishment. We are always treated with the greatest respect and it is always a comfortable stay. Place is clean and is being kept up to date with renovations. Just love it!
Stayed here for just one night towards the end of our road trip. Our room was at the back, looking into the trees and was comfy and quiet so had a great sleep. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty - free too. I thought the place was good value and can certainly recommend it.
Wonderful staff. Nice place to stay when in the area. Can not beat the deal for the money. I always stay here. I stayed here 90 days in last year. I do not even look at other hotels any more. They treat you like family.
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. When we 1st checked in, we were given the room on the 2nd floor overlooking the entry way and next to the elevator. Since my husband and I are poor sleepers, I asked if we could have a different room. Maria was very nice and gave us a different room. But the room we were given, #206, had a weird, musty odor. We accepted it thinking that the odor would go away after the a/c was running a while. Alas, the odor was there the whole time. Since we would not be spending much time in the room, we put up with it, not wanting to seem like complainers. But I did read another review since coming back home that was written in 2016, which I had not read before our trip. That person experienced a similar odor in his/her room. So be forewarned. Maria at the front desk is helpful and smiles a lot. Housekeeping seem to work hard. Breakfast was fine, better than Quality Inns at most locations but not was good as Holiday Inn Express. Surrounding area felt safe and it was nice to have a WAWA across the street, even if it was a very busy road. Easy on/off the interstate. Easy to get to lots of restaurants. We were there on a Civil War expedition.
Service is great! The room is clean and presentable. The staff is courteous. There are a variety of breakfast food. The location of the hotel is accessible to a gas station, a convenience store, shopping area, interstate and it's just a mile away from the military base.
I read the reviews and booked the hotel based on TA. However, none of the reviews prepared me for how actually wonderful the hotel was. Immediately created by the most friendly desk agent. Then the room... Mind you, I'm a Hilton Diamond member. Sorry, Hilton, I have *never* had a room as nice as this Best Western. Spotlessly clean and even nicely scented throughout. Huge room with 2 queens and a kitchenette (microwave, stovetop, and full sized refrigerator/freezer). All for under $100/night!! Better quality wifi than most Hilton premium/pay service as well - no problems streaming HD Netflix to the big screen TV. I've already booked this hotel again for the return leg. I personally won't be considering any other in the Richmond metro area. Crazy good find.
This was our third stay at this hotel. Nice to see employees smiling. The room was thoroughly clean. The grounds always look well kept. We use this hotel as our comparison against other hotels. We will again stay at this hotel when we are in the area.
We came to this area with a pouring rain. Maria was extremely helpful and comforting. The breakfast was exactly as expected. There was also some healthful options as well. The rooms were extremely comfortable. The beds were comfortable. I would recommend that this would be a great facility to stay if you happened to be in the area.
I booked 3 rooms for myself and family members--2 kitchenette rooms for my mom and brother and 1 king room for myself. I wish I would've spent the extra few bucks and got the kitchenette room! It was massive! However, the kitchenette rooms DO NOT have any dishes, pots, or cooking utensils. You will have to supply that yourself. The king room was nice sized as well. Everything was clean and I'm very particular about that. The beds were firm, but the pillows were soft. All in all, one of the better Best Westerns that I have stayed in. If I were in the area again, I would definitely stay again.
Visiting Fort Lee for my son Graduation, most of the time I stay at BW. This hotel was very nice, staff was friendly, and helpful. The hotel was clean the fitness room and pool was well maintain. If you ever visit this hotel say Hi to Jacqueline very nice lady fro Germany. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Clean rooms, friendly staff. No problems. Comfortable. Stayed in the area with family. Easy to book on line. Have recommended a card in the room for checkout time and breakfast time. Internet was fine, no problems.
The room was spacious and well designed. The people were very nice and friendly. We only stayed 1 night while on our way to Charleston. The breakfast menu is not set up for gluten free, but as it is included for free, and I am on a restricted diet it was ok
Hotel is beautifully decorated and the entire hotel is newly upgraded. Each room is great. Staff are super friendly and helpful. We had eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, make your own waffles, cereal, pastries, Activia yogurt, different breads for toasting, and juice. Our family meets here every year.
family reunion every hear for past 5 years. everyone stays here. clean, comfortable, great rate, great check-in/out, close to dining (walk to italian/pizza and Mexican). great staff and house keeping. highly recommended. fills-up with Army-Fort Lee soldiers which to me is a plus. Seemed like a safe area. Nothing bad to say!
This hotel was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was courteous and pleasant. The breakfast was the typical selection you see at the "breakfast included" hotels. The location was convenient for our stay.
AAA picked this hotel for us. It was satisfactory, recently renovated. The negative was a machine that was being used to mask an odor in the room. It sprayed a fragrance that lingered....not sure what they were trying to cover up. The check in clerk was awesome, but the person that oversaw the breakfast was questionable......talking loudly on a phone as she walked and fixing a breakfast for herself and going in the backroom to eat it instead of being available for questions
Best Western Plus hotels offer a great value without sacrificing quality. My wife and I know that we will find an affordable room that is clean and spacious with all amenities when we select Best Western Plus. We know that we will be in a safe environment with service by courteous and professional staff.
Friendly welcome from the clerk. Large, comfortable room! Breakfast with waffles, 3 pastries, extras like salsa and peanut butter, sausage and bacon. Eggs were flat omelets made for sandwiches. All in all, a good place to stay.
This hotel is great for the price. Clean, nice decor, tasty food items for the breakfast hour. A great Italian restaurant two blocks from hotel. Walkable to the restaurant. Very comfortable beds, quiet, pleasant staff.
Clean rooms and wonderful staff. I stayed for well over 55 nights and everyday my room way well taken care of thank you, to all your staff for making my stay enjoyable. I had fresh breakfast every morning
I stayed here for 12 nights for military training. The room was clean. The internet was pretty slow at times. The location is perfect those working at Ft. Lee. You can be on post in less than 5 minutes.
Can't beat the price and the quality of the rooms. Helpful staff, Maria is the best! They will make sure to help you in any way to make sure your stay is good. Big rooms with kitchennets available and hot coffee always made
Was pleasantly surprised how high-end this reasonsbly priced hotel was. I was sorry it was only for one night. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Staff was eager to assist; breakfast was excellent. The price was exceptional...we were very pleasantly surprised.
The staff at this hotel are very friendly and welcoming. The well-appointed rooms were clean and very roomy. Location was very convenient for our needs. Breakfast was adequate and the breakfast area was very clean and attractive. We will definitely stay here again when we visit family in the area.
I have stayed at this hotel over last 4yrs on returning to visit friends suits my needs.since then they have refurbished , updated interior and exterior garden areas. Looked after and cared by same staff ehich must mean they are looked after as well as guests.
Welcoming staff, clean room, comfy bed, and quiet stay were found here. Could use a bit of updating in decor, but that's not critical to me - a good night's rest is. Will return next time business takes me to Petersburg, VA..
I stayed at the Best Western for five weeks while training at Ft Lee. I was very satisfied with the front desk staff and the cleaning staff. The continental breakfast was always decent as well. My one co.plaint would be that there was only one guest washer and dryer set for the whole hotel. It was coin operated and was out of order on several occasions.
Staff was wonderful checking us in very late in evening. Room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Very quiet. Had a very good night's sleep, would stay again or recommend to family and friends.
On our way north from SC, we plan our trip so as to be able to stop here in Hopewell. We very much enjoy this motel and Rosa's Italian pizza/restaurant. Food there is great and within walking distance. The motel management is always making renovations to keep the place looking like new. The king rooms are comfortable and clean and there's a decent hot breakfast in the morning. The lobby was recently remodeled and looks great. New carpeting was laid on our floor, and I assume the entire motel. Very nice place to stay with friendly people running the place.
The hotel was everything we expected, we love Best Westerns', everything was clean, the check in lady was great and breakfast was very good. The bathroom was roomy and the beds were very comfortable to sleep on.
This hotel is very close to I 95 but not close to areas of large traffic issues. Great place to get a nights sleep and nice Italian restaurant just around the corner. The morning breakfast area was large and clean which made this stop over perfect.
This hotel is very neat, clean and organized. We enjoyed our stay here and will rebook when we come into town again. No bad smells in the room, the breakfast area was clean and well stocked wonderful food choices and variety.
Lovely clean and conveniently located hotel off of I-295 by pass around Richmond, Va. Everything has been replaced and rooms very clean and comfortable. The huge flat screen TV had excellent reception, the best of 3 other hotels of my trip to Florida, Best BBQ place is also located 5 minutes from hotel in Hopewell.
Nothing EXCEPTIONAL but the staff was helpful and the room was clean and felt safe. A lot of renovations going on, but great stay for the price I paid. Was there with my 10 month old son for a graduation at Ft. Lee. Great place to stay close to base.
We stayed twice during our road Trip to and from South Carolina. The check in process is prompt and the staff are very quick in the process. The rooms are clean comfortable. They have fridge and microwave in all rooms. Free WiFi . Great free breakfast with a large variety of food to sit and enjoy or grab to go. This location has a fitness room, pool and conveniently located by several restaurants and gas stations. Definitely would stay again. Great service by all hotel staff.
This is a good hotel at a reasonable price. It is located at a stopping point where we needed it, also close to the I-295. We had stayed here before and found it very convenient. We will stay here again if convenient.
Very large and nicely set up handicapped bathroom. Very quiet even on first floor next to conference room. Breakfast was very good and with great selection. Check-in and check-out was very courteous and as quick as possible. Nice baggage carts.
We needed somewhere to stay halfway on a trip to see family, and this fit the bill. For the rate of $81, we had a nice, clean room with 2 queen beds in a non-smoking hotel. The staff was friendly, and the hotel was located right off of Interstate 295! It's not a fancy place, but if you're looking for a clean, decent place to spend a night for a reasonable amount of money, this is it.
We always stay here on our way to SC, and some times on the way north. Had a little mix-up at check-in, but the desk person was great and got us into a king room similar to the one we reserved. Breakfast overall turned out good, but with one person trying to cover the front desk and taking care of breakfast, we had to wait a while for eggs and sausage to be ready. A little confusion with the waffle maker as to which cups to use to make the waffles with. We're used to having the proper cups right there and not having to guess which ones to use. Overall, still a good stay, and we will definitely be back.
This is not a luxury hotel, but provides excellent value for a budget-minded traveler. Breakfast is included, with sausages, bacon, & eggs along with usual cereal, pastries, waffles, & fruit. Rooms are spacious and clean, and have a mini-fridge. Staff are very friendly. Free parking, and convenient location. Pool is only open for summer season.
Nice hotel. Clean, comfortable room and good breakfast. Quiet location with easy access from highway. Nice pool and staff were professional and helpful in locating restaurants. We would stay here again.
The room was spotless. It was nice to see hotel staff members smile and say hello to a guest. This was our second stay at this hotel. We will, without hesitation, stay there again on our next trip to the area.
So the staff is incredible, very polite and as helpful as they can possibly be. Rooms are always clean tidy. The problem lies in the internet service. Your phone downs at 15 mbs, the hotel is 0.02 mbs. Absolutely terrible, equipment is old and extremely slow. In today's society as reliant as we are on technology and Internet I don't see how this is acceptable. A very serious upgrade is without a doubt necessary.
This is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Hopewell, Va. The staff is very friendly, helpful and just really nice people. Its clean and well maintained. Breakfast if also very good.
came to stay here for a wedding with my family. The receptionist said she could not find our reservation nor did they have any rooms left. This was unacceptable as we drove over 120 miles just to get there. The receptionist just said sorry as they overbooked their reservations for the entire weekend. She said we were welcome to wait and see if anyone cancels. We were not waiting. Luckily the Econo lodge was available. Tip for future guests , call many times to confirm your reservation.
Stayed for a family wedding. Stayed two nights. Had drove home and then realized that I had left my laptop in one of the drawers in the room. Called and they said they had it at the desk and it was safe. We drove back and it was returned back with everything in the case! The hotel was clean and fitted with all of the basic amenities. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice! Would stay here again!
I traveled to Hopewell, VA for a wedding with my family. For the value, the rooms were not good. My sheets were dirty with dust stains on them and bug track marks. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Tip for anyone coming to Hopewell, stay at Fairfield inn, much better for the value.
Arriving late and tired we entered our room unpacked, kicked off our shoes and that is when I stepped into something sticky on the carpeting. After looking more closely I found another sticky spot. To tired to call anyone I just laid a wash clothe on the spots so that I would avoid getting sticky feet. The next night we returned to a clean room but the two sticky spots remained. That means that the cleaning attendants had to have picked up the the wash clothes off the carpet but never cleaned the spots away. Not good.
Convenient location, friendly staff and clean room. Breakfast so so. Have stayed at other BW's and their presentation and quality better. We have stayed here before and will return in future travels, Check out person worked so that I received $50 promotion from other stays.
This hotel is good choice for a stop over when traveling. The room and entire hotel seems well maintained and clean. The bathroom was probably the cleanest hotel bathroom I've seen. The continental breakfast was above average for a small hotel. The reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating is because the pool had so much hair floating in it that I wouldn't get in. Also, the pool area seems to be a smoking area, which I didn't enjoy. Perhaps a designated smoking area could be made away from the pool. Overall, this hotel is a good value.
I stayed at the best western plus 2 weeks ago while me and my freind were on our way to Virginia beach. We were super tired so thought lets just stay over see the area relax. We got a double room , price was not bad, staff was friendly. The room on the other hand, was not great. Before choosing best western we looked at the reviews and it seemed Hopefull, but we were wrong. While resting for a few hours I felt something crawl on my neck !! Right away we complained to staff ,got only half our money back and left. Never again, I'd rather drive 2 more hours then rest at that place.
our family meets there every year. great hotel, great rates, used the conference room to visit with family. breakfast staff and continental breakfast is excellent. Hotel books full often so reservations a good idea. we had to wait for a room to be cleaned but housekeeping allowed us to check in as soon as a room was cleaned. very accommodating especially with the family with about 6 rooms all or most on the same floor.
We had a very nice stay at Best Western Plus in Hopewell, VA. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast was excellent (you can make your own waffle, sausage, bacon, eggs, cereal, yogurt, nice pastries, etc). The room was very clean.
There was a problem with my reservation but the front desk took care of it right away! The pool is outside and not heated. It is the best hotel in the area. The only real negative is getting in and out of their parking lot is a bit of a challenge.
Recently stayed here with the family for a night during a road trip. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and breakfast was decent. Would recommend if you need a place to stay while traveling. Very easy to get to from 95. There are gas stations and convenience stores right across the street, which also makes for a smooth stop during a road trip.
It's tricky to get into the parking lot, but check in is fast and the staff was more than friendly and helpful! Breakfast provided a good choice for a smaller hotel, and the staff member replenishing the food items was fast. The pool was clean and the parking lot was well lit. You will enjoy your stay at this Best Western.
This Best Western was a great selection. The room was large, immaculate, AC was powerful, and lots of amenities including a fitness center and pool, free in-room wifi, iron, ironing board, nice refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave, and sitting area as well as the usual desk and chair. And take note of the bedside lamps that have built-in phone chargers in the base (that work even when the lamp is off) so you don't have to crawl around looking for an outlet! The front desk staff were delightful, so friendly and helpful. The location is just a few minutes in every direction from the thruways and Civil War sites. A convenient, nice buffet breakfast was included.
I was very impressed by how clean and well maintained this property was, as well as by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at the front desk. The room was spacious and we slept well. That said, it does share some limitations that we've observed at other Best Westerns, namely limited breakfast fare and exercise equipment that hasn't been programmed properly and hence is difficult to use.
I stay here often because amongst other things, the standard of service is always dependable, and it is not far from the highway (I-95) If you are a history buff, there are a myriad of things to see, and there are restaurants close by
We booked this hotel in advance because we were traveling to Dinwiddie for a music festival. It was a good thing we did because there were no vacancies when we got there! We checked in late because of the concert and actually the Front Desk had called to make sure we were still coming. We brought 2 extra people and they made sure we had extra towels. Breakfast was great - definitely worth the money!
My family and I arrived at this hotel at 11 pm with a reservation. We got into our room and there was white sand all over the table but we were so tired from a long drive I disregarded it. The room was dated and there was a huge patched hole in the bathroom door. Once we fell asleep a fire alarm went off at 4 am and woke us all up. Just as I was about to turn the light back off I noticed something crawling on my pillow. It was a bedbug. I stay in hotels at least once a month for travel but this is the first time I have ever been in a hotel with bedbugs. I had a welt on my neck from being bitten. I went downstairs to the front desk and told the woman I wanted a refund and we were leaving immediately. We packed up and went into the lobby only to be told she couldn't issue the refund until hours later because she didn't know how to do it. She was very nice and I know she felt bad but I was not staying in that hotel another minute. At 4:30 am we checked into another hotel. I never take the time to review hotels but I had to warn other people to be careful of this hotel.
Have stayed at this Best Western before. Stall helpful, rooms clean and location conveniently located off Rt. 295 exit 9A. Civil War sites close if interested in that sort of history. Will be back again when have more time to walk battlefields.
Our room was very clean & very nice. The staff was friendly...but the hotel seemed dated and dark. The lobby area and where the breakfast was served always seemed dark. I think if they kept the TV and lights on in the breakfast area on it would definitely brighten up the place. As soon as 930 am hit they cleared out everything, cut off TV & lights. No real place outside of your room to sit etc.
Stayed here overnight on the way to College of Charleston. Great hotel with clean rooms, friendly staff and hearty free breakfast. Will be back on next trip for sure. Front desk staff was very helpful, was nervous at first but Trip Advisor reviews helped me. This location is a gem!
This hotel was perfect for exploring the Civil War sites near Petersburg and Richmond -- clean, convenient to the interstate and sights, and with incredibly friendly staff who recommended a great local restaurant. Highly recommend!
Our stay at the Best Western in Hopewell VA provided a very convenient place to stop in our drive down the east coast to Florida. The hotel and room was very clean and well take care of. The breakfast was well stocked with a variety of items. The internet was quick and reliable. The people checking us in and out were very friendly and helpful
This hotel is very well located just off Interstate #295 with restaurants really close by. Excellent place to stop for Snowbirds heading back to Canada from Florida. Rooms are spacious and well decorated. Bed was very comfortable and we would recommend this BestWestern Plus to anyone.
We stayed at this place on a trip north. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We checked out 2 other hotels in the area before settling on this place - both seemed rather run down. Our room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
This is my go to hotel when I'm working the Richmond area. Worth the extra miles to travel for the quality and value. Rooms are clean and nice and the staff are always friendly and professional. Well worth the money.
Checked in near midnight during a long trip. Front desk experience was slow and painful. She seemed very confused about everything. Maybe we were all tired. Room was clean. Bathroom fan sounded like a jet engine. Could hear water running loudly in pipes in ceiling all morning. Strange odor throughout stay - a combination of must and smoke I think. Pillows were terrible. Nice carpeted stairwell offered good alternative to elevator. Breakfast was pretty good with a wide variety. It wasn't very busy. No one seemed to be around to refill items but since it was slow that was ok. Overall a mixed stay. There are a few other hotels next door I might consider but for a short night it was ok.
Stopped here once again on the way home to CT because we've never been disappointed in the past, and we were once again very pleased with our stay. The king room was clean, roomy and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was very good, but the hot foods needed just a quick few seconds in the microwave, to get them warmer. Presentation was good, and selection was very nice. Overall, a very pleasant stay.
I was welcomed at the reception desk and the room was ready. A loud person, perhaps someone in boots, paced above but I was surprised at how little it disturbed me. I thought of calling the front desk but could think of little else than the business at hand. Fortunately, it did not disturb an otherwise good stay. Very nice staff.
I have stayed at this location many times over the last 16 years. There is a selection of room sizes to suit families. When you ask for a roll away it is waiting for you. The staff are very welcoming and the waffles at breakfast are delicious. It is our home away from home.
Met family from FL VA SC. Staff very courteous, professional, accommodating with all of us visiting in the breakfast lounge. Our room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Bathrooms were spotless. The price was reasonable and in line with other hotels. Near a large Army base, FT. Lee so book early. There was a "no vacancy" sign on the door but you wouldn't know they were full... unless you look at the parking lot and the neighboring hotels.
great staff, easy check in, clean rooms, best rate. just a wonderful place to stay. will continue to make this our home away from home. Met family in lobby/breakfast room and they turned on the juice machine and made coffee for our family visit until late at night.
The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. The breakfast buffet saves time and money when traveling. We visited the buffet around 7:30 AM and a lot of the selections were gone. The eggs were cold and gross. The room was nice but too cold. we had trouble regulating the heat/air. we had a problem with odor the last time we were here but it was corredted and the company's management contacted us to appologize.
This hotel was such a nice place to visit a friend stationed at Fort Lee. It was clean, everyone was nice and the room was great. They even let us check in early which helped our busy day. Check out was a breeze and the stay was very affordable. We would definitely stay again!
Checked out of the Fairfield next door after listening to a dog bark repeatedly. Didn't even unpack as the dog barked from the time we walked down the hall and while we were in our room across and down the hall could still hear. Good for Pet Friendly travelers but not for me. Went right next doo to the Best Western Plus and they accommodated us with no problem.
We booked a one night stay at the Best Western Plus in Hopewell Virginia using the online booking capability on the official Best Western web site. We had been driving on Route 95 for roughly twelve hours and were in serious need of a place to spend the night. I had looked on Google maps using my cell phone and located what appeared to be a reasonably priced and available room for that night at the Best Western Plus in Hopewell VA. I went to their website and booked, and paid for, the room with relative ease right on their web site. When we got to the hotel, the woman at the desk said there was no reservation there for us. She was not friendly or helpful or even apologetic that there was a problem, even after I showed her the reservation confirmation email that I had gotten directly from Best Western. It turns out that the night that was listed on the reservation that I was emailed was actually the following night and not the night that I had requested, online. When I pointed that out to the unpleasant woman behind the desk, she informed me coolly that she showed no reservation for me for the following night either and dismissively returned to reading her book. At that point I called the Best Western main reservation number and explained the problem to them. They told me that the reason that the hotel didn't know about my reservation was that their "two-way communication" between the main reservation desk and their hotels was "down". She also said that she didn't know how the wrong date was made for the reservation, but that it was now too late to change it or to give us a refund because it was already "in the system". This was apparently the same system that was down for any two-way communication. She then helpfully suggested that I pay for a second night so that I could have the privilege of staying the one night that I needed at their wonderful establishment. I am speechless at the lack of common sense and actual hospitality provided by Best Western both on-site at the hotel and on the phone with their main reservation desk. They were rude, unhelpful and unfriendly. I will never stay at another Best Western for the rest of my life, and I would recommend everyone else think twice as well. Horrible all the way around!
Everyone at the hotel was very nice and helpful. Check in was fast and easy. Booked thru Trip Advisor and got a good rate. Clean rooms and nice free breakfast included. Good stopover place from NY to SC. Easy to get to-avoids having to endure Richmond traffic!
We stayed just one night. We had a nice room with a king size bed. It was quiet even though our room was next to the elevator. The price was good and the staff was friendly. I thought the bed was a bit hard but my husband thought it was perfect. There were lots of pillows. It is also convenient--just off the highway. The shower head needs to be replaced as it is not dispersing the water well any more.
Overnight on way to SC. We've considered 2 other hotels in the area, but thought, why mess with a good thing. We stop here on the way home and on the way south and have never been disappointed. Our king room is always clean, everything works the way it is supposed to and the beds are incredibly comfy. This last stay, the owner wasn't sure about our 3rd floor room being ready, and not wanting us to schlep all the way up there, just gave us an upgrade on the 1st floor. You just can't beat that for service. Breakfast is always good and has a nice hot selection of bacon, sausage, eggs and waffles along with other items all presented nicely. As usual, a very pleasant stay.
This was a very nice hotel right off I-295, with a gas station/WAWA store right across the street and a plethora of other stores to choose from. So something for everyone. The hotel was rather clean and well kept. The staff courteous and professional. My one draw back is whoever was on the floor above us. Wow, they were pounding back and forth like drill sergeants or something...all through the night into the morning. Crazy. I would recommend staying at this hotel, which also offers a small gym and complimentary breakfast. Good value for price when we went and stayed.
Overall, this hotel is clean, neat, reasonably priced and has a very comfortable bed. Breakfast is nicely presented and has a few hot items from which to choose. Had some trouble with the high speed internet which we hope is just a temporary thing. It's been just fine in the past. We'll surely be back.
This hotel was perfect and the staff is excellent. The breakfast was outstanding and offered several options. Very clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and furnishings new. The staff goes out of their way to assist in whatever you could need while traveling.
We stopped here on our way to Myrtle Beach. The hotel was just what we were looking for. It's what I expect from a Best Western. Beds were comfy, breakfast was standard fare and the staff were pleasant. Located close to an Italian restaurant. ...you could walk there. I'd stay here again without hesitation.
Would recommend this Best Western Plus to any friend or family. Good value, Staff was eager to please. Location was easy on and easy off Route Inter-State 95. Breakfast area was clean, well organized and maintained a pleasant appearance. Price was right too, very reasonable for an area round Richmond.
We have enjoyed staying here. Our nephew is completing his military training there. It was nice to get up in the morning knowing you can grab nice food on the way out. I have and will continue recommending this hotel to oters.
The hotel was nothing special, but better than average in this price range. Most importantly to me, my room was clean. The staff was nice. Bed was comfortable, pillows a little too firm/thick for my liking. Sheets comfortable, bedspread looked outdated, I always remove them and set them aside. Breakfast was adequate and began at 6:00 am so that we could jump back on the highway early which I appreciate. Coffee very good, and available in the lobby outside of breakfast hours which was nice. It has great proximity to 295; hotel is not right off 95, but is close by, a few exits up off 295 and gas station and services are right next store. I would definitely stay here again.
We make it a point to arrange our trip south so as to stop here each time. Everything about this establishment is classy. Everything is clean, hot breakfast starts our day by putting us in a good frame of mind for the rest of our trip. Every time we stop here, the staff makes sure all is ok and should there be a problem or suggestion, they handle it graciously. We find the King room very roomy, clean, and nicely appointed. Always a great stay!
Nice hotel appear very clean, good front desk met the qualify of customer service, room clean daily, It is more valuable then expecting. I will reference co-worker about this hotel when travel in this area
I needed a place to stay that was clean, close to Ft. Lee and included breakfast. The Best Western met all my expectations. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean. Breakfast was very good (cereal, toast, bagels, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, etc) and the staff kept it very clean and ensured that coffee, etc was always stocked. Would stay here again.
The room was nice, and the continental breakfast was decent. The man at the front desk was very nice and helpful. It was a busy weekend, and one of our party cancelled, so we had to cancel a room and it wasn't a problem at all. The in-room wifi didn't work super well (it kept kicking me off and I had to keep logging back in). Overall I would stay here again!
Very nice large rooms. Great location. Excellent staff and management that were always ready to meet any of our needs. I was more than pleased with the size of the rooms which made our stay comfortable since we had three adults in one room.
Check in was easy, rooms are very clean I check everything! Only thing that I had a problem with and some of you may is they go overboard with the clean air freshener! I think it's in the air/ system a little overboard I am a massage therapist by trade and use aromatherapy in my office. It's just a little to much for me. So if you have a sensitivity to smell this may not be the place for you. As soon as you walk in the door it's noticeable
Strict adherence to fire alarm procedures and permission to enter the building after alarm has been adjudicated. Next time will report to desk when late nijght guests be a problem but mite suggest when upstairs amongst guests that are trying to sleep to please be courteous.
A very clean hotel. Guest room was clean and neat. We inspect immediately after check-in. A television guide in the room. Amazing how many hotels don't have this simple item. The room was quiet. The bed was comfortable. Most people would probably like the pillows. I prefer flatter pillows. I am a tough person on cleanliness. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again. I will very likely stay here on the next trip. I was told that the radio/alarm clocks make water fall sounds, etc. but didn't try it.
