room cleanliness could have been better. floor had not been vacuumed, visible debris on carpet. garbage in main room had not been emptied. I did not report the issue. the bed appeared tidy and well-made. bathroom had been cleaned, but probably very quickly as there were some hairs here and there in the tub and on the surface surrounding the sink. I have always found the staff at this hotel to be very helpful and friendly, so I should have reported it at the time.

I chose this hotel for family to meet together after burying our mom at Fort Harrison. It was a little spendy for some but a great choice. We ate dinner at the Steak House adjoining hotel. ( they accommodated a family of 12). We all met up for breakfast in the morning with attentive breakfast staff. The moment I walked into this hotel the front desk was welcoming and efficient. Another plus was the Brewery pub right buy parking area. Great lobby and pool/ hot tub looked inviting. Great stay. They also offer a shuttle to airport.

Why would a BWH Premium Hotel ( The Helena Great Northern) not have decent WiFI service. And it is a Conference Centre as well. This is the 21 century and WiFi is a must. I am not talking about poor WiFi, but no and intermittent WiFi. With such a fine building it is surprising that BWH would cheap out on WiFi.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention this morning. We DO provide great internet to our guests and our conference area. As you can see, this is not a common complaint. We are on fiber and recently installed new access points. Your email to me this morning indicates there is an issue with the connection or the access point near your room. We came here in an emergency after I had an allergic reaction to the alfalfa fields at another hotel on the outskirts of town. Lisa at the front desk was very compassionate, caring and tried to assist us in getting a room as soon as possible. We stayed in the 2 BR 2 BTH suite and it was just wonderful. Very quiet room on the lower level with very comfortable beds. It happened to be my birthday too and we ate at the steakhouse adjoining the hotel, which was excellent. We stayed 2 nights and we will definitely return when we are back in town from Seattle. The hotel was also very convenient to downtown.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in September. The hotel is in a good location walkable to the downtown area. The breakfast was good and in a nice room. The hotel front dest staff was friendly and helpful.

We stay at this hotel 2x a year when we visit Helena. It is close to a lot of places, is easy to get to, and the hotel is always cozy and clean. We could use better food/coffee BUT like I said lots of places are nearby (including the sushi restaurant just outside and the restaurant next door!)

We stay here because it is close to Carroll College and easy for our daughter to get to. The breakfast is always delicious and the staff is always so friendly. We traveled with our family this time, including a very busy toddler. A quick walk/run to see the fountain, elk, bear, otter, goat and eagle took place many times in the day with a busy toddler. We walked to the carousel, Exploration Works, Brewhouse for lunch, to the college and back on a beautiful fall day in Montana!! This is the perfect location for us when we are in Helena

This was not our first time staying at this Best Western hotel & one of the main reasons we returned & will continue to do so ! It is ideally situated & the area is lovely & great for chilling out or perfect for walk, or ice cream, Farmers Market or eating out "Bad Betty's BBQ " on Front Street ( round the corner) is Awesome for Lunch Smokehouse food ( 11am - 3pm only). The staff at the hotel are super efficient & friendly and only to eager to help. Rooms are well equipped & cover all your needs and more ! The beds are super comfy ..so many more trips to come.

We had a fabulous experience during our stay. We reserved a mini-suite, and it was larger than I expected. There was excellent lighting, sometimes the rooms tend to be dark, but it was not the case at this hotel. The bathroom had a light over the shower, which is nice. I appreciated the ample supply of bath soaps in the dispensers as I have long hair and usually have to request extra conditioner. There was an extra pillow and blanket in the closet, along with an iron and a full-sized board. There were two robes for us and the towels were ample size and soft. The mattress was extremely comfortable, and we both slept well. The breakfast was incredible. Fresh cracked eggs, cooked oatmeal, fresh yogurt parfait, also choices of chobani yogurt, muffins, etc. One day there were both smoked sausage and sausage links, and the next day was ham slices and sausage links. Rosemary potatoes (not soggy hash browns. Eggs were well-cooked, not runny. Pour your own waffles and pancakes, various types of toast, bananas, and three choices of fresh coffee, apple, and orange juice. Oh! and there was fresh salsa and cheese for the potatoes and eggs. The front desk was very polite and accommodating. There were several luggage carts for use. The place is a little challenging to find, but google maps led us right to the front entry. It is a bit tucked away, and you don't see it until you are right upon it. It's located in a shopping mall area, so you have to get a parking pass, but there is ample parking nearby on a holiday weekend. We arrived at 3 pm on a Saturday and had no issues. The hotel is about a 1/2-mile walk to the historic part of Last Chance Gulch. Walkable for many, but not for everyone. There is a carousel and ice cream very near the hotel, but it is not open on Sundays. There is also a brewpub a very short walk away, but we did not eat there. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Helena.

This is a beautiful hotel; never stayed at a Premier, mainly the Best Western Plus, but our room here was really outstanding! Very large, and loved the fact that they had a completely separate sink/vanity area outside the bathroom. Decorated beautifully and quiet. It was wonderful for us that they allow dogs! And they have a restaurant connected to the hotel. Went to their very nice restaurant that also has a nice size patio area (not sure if they allow dogs there?). It is a spendy restaurant; Husband had the filet +salmon+scalloped potatoes; the filet was very tender, he enjoyed his dinner. I had the vegetable gnocchi, I was very disappointed, the gnocchi were gummy. The menu did not state that we get soup + salad with our dinner, salads were nice size, husband said the clam chowder was just so-so. Service there was outstanding, they made us feel very welcomed and they truly accommodated us, by seating us early. I definitely, would make a reservation, as this is a popular place! We enjoyed after dinner drinks at their bar. Had their free continental breakfast the next morning, very nice assortment of cranberry walnut along with delicious cinnamon breads, also bagels, fruit, oatmeal, eggs and other items. A little disappointed they did not have an omelet station as the Best Western Plus in Coeur d'Alene had. All in all we'd go back and stay here again and would highly recommend it. They also had an large indoor pool at this facility.

This hotel was well maintained with modern furniture and amenities. Staff was friendly, helpful, and quick to respond. Breakfast had a good variety and room service was available for other meals. Location was close to restaurants & entertainment and only minutes from downtown.

It was our first visit to Helena and our friends recommended we stay at the Great Northern Hotel, and we are so happy that we did! The location is perfect to downtown and both restaurants and shopping. I also walked the Centennial Trail each morning from the hotel. The staff were professional, helpful, and the best part - happy! The room was lovely with a great bar & coffee area and refrigerator. The linens were high quality as well as the furniture. There were two elevators, which is always nice. The breakfast was outstanding (variety and tasteful) and so was the staff that worked the area each morning. We really enjoyed Helena and the Great Northern Hotel was the "icing on the cake". We will return!

What a good price for such a nice hotel room. The location was excellent, room was large, clean, and beds comfortable. I'm definitely staying there whenever I visit Helena in the future. Even the bathroom was great-- the countertop was huge and the shower had real water pressure! It was helpful to be able to stay in a walkable area.

Great location close to a lovely walking path and lots of restaurants, and a full breakfast that was above and beyond anything we've had at a hotel in the states. Clean, good sized room, comfortable beds and pillows, feels like a newer hotel. Friendly people at the front desk every time we walked past or needed anything. Glad we picked this hotel!

I was in town for the week for job training. I was so happy I decided to stay at the Best Western. The beds were so comfortable! I loved the pillows! I also was pretty impressed with the breakfast each morning. The food was amazing! Chorizo burritos, scrambled eggs, sausage… not your average continental breakfast. The staff was great! The hotel was quiet. I got the best nights sleep while I was there. Great stay! Highly recommend!

Wonderful staff. Prompt resolution of AV issues. Front desk staff helped with my issues in getting a third party vendor (GetARoom) to refund my last day at the hotel. Still waiting on the refund from the third pard vendor. Suggest going directly to a voice on the phone vs. a clip on the computer.

Having stayed at other Best Western hotels we were very impressed with this addition to their offerings. Things started off very well when we came in early and the room was ready for us. This excellent feature was important as we had been traveling a long distance. The two men at the front desk were very accommodating and professional. The room was modern and very comfortable. Having the Silver Star restaurant just a short walk away inside was a nice bonus. A very pleasant stay.

The Helena Great Northern Hotel is by far the best place to stay in Helena. The location is perfectly located to Helena's best dining options. The Silver Star is connected to the hotel and is a great option for drinks and or dinner without leaving the hotel. The rooms are roomy and impeccably clean. The large King rooms are extremely spacious and give plenty of room to spread out. I have been staying at the Northern for almost 10 years. It gets better every time I stay there. The staff is attentive and friendly and can always be reliable for entertainment options in town. All this and if you are traveling with your best friend, the hotel is dog friendly.

Comfortable and clean room. Breakfast was good and so was the coffee. Iced lemon water was available at desk. Only thing missing was the cookies. Symphony under the Stars was walking distance from Hotel.

I had a 5 night stay for a conference in July. I am a very light sleeper but the hotel staff was great in placing me on the top floor. The rooms were clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. Rooms are large as well as the bathroom. It had all the things you would need for a stay. They provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion and little amenity kit (Q-tips, nail file, cotton balls), shower cap, and hair dryer. The quality of was good. It is close to a few restaurants and a quick walk to Carol College. Not a far walk to the walking mall either. They do provide shuttle service to the Airport as well. Will definitely stay again. We also had a lovely visitor in the parking lot....baby deer.

We don't see many deer down in this neck of the city - but every once in a while, they surprise us! Thank you for staying with us - we hope to see you in Montana on a future visit!

Booked a King room for our 1 night stay. Large, clean with plenty of light and outlets - a major plus for us. Reception very pleasant, breakfast good. Only downside is if you are elderly (like us) , parking is about a half block away. Younger people won't even notice. Best to pull up, unload your luggage, then park. Reception gives you a ticket to display for free parking.

Very welcoming to two guys on bicycles. Amenities great as you would expect. Location was excellent for us, walking distance to the Brewhouse, Big Sky Cycling and Van's grocery store, among others. Highly recommended.

Our family loved the Best Western Premiere in Helena! We had 4 rooms, with 12 people one night & 10 the rest. The 2 bedroom family suite on the lower level was beautiful. We had 3 other rooms nearby including a patio room perfect for family get togethers in the evening.

Very nice hotel!!! Friendly staff, quiet, comfortable, and clean room with extra little touches that make it stand out. We were reluctant to pay a little more for a room here compared to other hotels we looked at but it was soooo worth it. Close to many great restaurants and in a beautiful setting. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Helena.

Great hotel with upgraded breakfast including alternative options for those with dietary concerns. Our room was large, clean and adjoined to another room as requested. When we arrived, staff were still dealing with fallout from an unusual flash flood thunderstorm. They were friendly, kind and open about the challenges which while out of their control, were being worked on. We were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is in a beautiful area of Helena, with a beautiful outdoor space. This is not your typical BW - definitely try it!

Stayed at the Best Western, the best hotel in Helena. Great break and the hotel restaurant is the Silver steak house. A good wine list and great steak. Just open the door in the lobby and walk into the restaurant.

Got to spend the night in Helena prior to a fishing trip and had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western. Very nice hotel, gracious staff, really nice breakfast (with a super server who treated it more like a full service experience than the buffet it is set up to be), clean rooms and reasonably priced. The hotel is in walking distance of several nice restaurants and very accessible to the old town of Helena. Next time I am up in the area I will be sure to stay at the Best Western.

Quick check in, room was beautiful and clean, the breakfast was great and the staff was so friendly. We loved the waffles at breakfast as they were so fully. The hotel was very busy with a church conference, baseball tournament and more but the staff was able to keep up with the breakfast with a smile on their faces. It was also a good location.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and had everything I could need. However, the staff was even better! I booked rooms for a conference for the wrong dates and the staff worked hard to squeeze me in for the right dates. Thank you! The front desk staff answered every question and fulfilled every request. The attention to detail was great. I also enjoyed the breakfast very much - options for someone on a restricted diet. Can't wait to go back!

The hotel is situated between several one-way streets, so our GPS had trouble getting us to the front door. Reception was fast, friendly and helpful with suggestions for local sights and dining. We did see a few issues with cleanliness that I would not have expected anywhere, let alone a "premier" property. There were several small scraps on the floor in our room which were missed by the vacuum. There were some black hairs on the wall in our shower. And at the breakfast buffet I had to throw several knives into the dirty dishes bin before finding one that looked clean enough to use.

We visit Helena occasionally and always choose this hotel first. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is excellent. The restaurant connected to the hotel is also very good, though a bit pricey. Overall a good choice.

The Best Western Premier Great Northern Hotel in Helena is a great place to stay. It is clean, nice, and comfortable. Coffee and breakfast are provided too. You can walk to the downtown area, the Holter Art Museum, Carroll College, and many other places. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I try to stay here during my regular visits to Helena.

Justin and Dan provided outstanding customer service. I recently had knee surgery and have a handicap placard but was unable to use the two spots behind the conference center as they were already filled. Dan was kind enough to find convenient parking for me. Justin was very helpful and accommodating as well. Everyone I came into contact with was pleasant and friendly.

Stayed for a conference and it was great. The floor plan was good, the staff was very helpful and the breakfast was always good. The beds were very good and the location was great for my child who spent her days at the carousel and the Exploration Works both of which are within easy walking distance.

I flew in on a Sunday from the east coast for a 1 day tour of nearby Carroll College then to fly home shortly thereafter on the following Monday. We had very little time to get the lay of the land Sunday evening before our college tour on Monday. The gentlemen at the front desk had a shuttle pick us up at the airport and then gave us walking directions to great food and sight seeing options Sunday night. On Monday morning, he helped me navigate through discrepant college tour times and check out allowing us a late check out, reserving the shuttle back to the airport and recommending time and a nice place for lunch in between. It made the limited experience given the tight timelines fully informative as to what Helena had to offer (great people and cute town) in addition to the college tour.

The hotel was clean. The staff was friendly. The hot breakfast was delicious. The pool and jacuzzi was clean and well kept. The rooms were clean and quiet. The staff at the restaurant/Lounge was very helpful, and the food was really good.

Great location near college and downtown. Super clean, quiet. Felt really good to come back to the comfort of the hotel after a long day of touring. Easy check-in and check-out process, almost as if they knew who we were before identifying ourselves!

Fantastic experience. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large and very comfortable. A feature I enjoy is a nice chair and ottoman that you can just sit and relax in. The rooms are very quiet and easily accessible.

This property is in the heart of downtown but it seems like it is in the Country in that it is very quiet. The rooms were extremely well cared for and very clean. Everything in the rooms worked well and the heat/AC was very quiet. The whole facility was fresh and clean and all of the personnel were friendly and cheerful.

This is my favorite place to stay while in Helena. You can't beat the location! close to downtown, easy access when you arrive, great parking and next door to walking to distance to great restaurants and the movie theatre. I feel very safe at this hotel, the staff is great and rooms are very clean

My husband and I and our dog stayed at this best Western on our way home from Arizona to Alberta. I have stayed at many Best Westerns over the years and I must say this is the best of any. The location of this hotel is fantastic. Downtown Helena is a fun place to see with many places to walk . Very warm cosy environment when you walk in the lobby. Beautifully decorated with western art and Big cosy chairs. We were in the lower level because we had a dog. Our room was a walkout into a small courtyard with tables and chairs that was fenced. Our dog loved it. The room was large and clean and the beds extremely comfortable. We had dinner that evening at a restaurant attached to the hotel and it was excellent. I would definitely recommend this particular Hotel to anyone. Staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you Leslie and Duke Turner Valley Alberta

BW Helena Great Northern is perfectly located to allow you to experience anything you would like while in this beautiful town. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious and I loved the homey touch of "real" dishes and coffee mugs. The adjoining restaurant had wonderful food and drinks. Great trip! We loved our stay and we will be back!

This is the best hotel in Helena. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and nicely updated (especially the bathrooms). The entire staff is remarkably friendly, not one surly voice in my entire stay. The breakfast is far superior to the normal hotel continental breakfast. The smoked sausage is especially tasty. It's also the little things. I had very easy access to ice and soda pop machines, something of a rarity anymore. I was there for a conference, and their conference facilities are also very good.

Very clean. Very comfortable. Delicious breakfast. Friendly staff. Very pet friendly. We had easy access to the pet area and the patio outsude our room was very handy. It was so nice to have 2 entry options. It also is conviniently located to good dining options.

My son and his fiancee were coming to visit us (family) in Helena after working the front lines at a hospital in Portland for the past two years plus without a break. We decided to treat them to a stay at the Best Western Great Northern Hotel as a little staycation while they were here. They raved about the hotel saying it was quiet, in a great location, the room was clean and beautiful, offered great breakfasts, and had very friendly and accomodating staff. They also enjoyed the Silver Star being connected to the hotel for drinks and great food. We all got to enjoy their visit without any stress of them staying in our small townhome and they got the great rest that had been lacking for the past couple of years! It was a win-win situation for everyone. I will treat future visitors to this wonderful hotel. We may even take a staycation there ourselves!!

Great quality hotel in the "heart" of Helena, very close to "downtown" with a large park nearby. It is in a prime location for accessing businesses and social activities. A few good lunch and dinner restaurants, but lacking in grab and go and especially a coffee shopt! There is a breakfast buffet which makes up for this and that is appreciated! If you choose, you can walk to Starbucks. The hotel is very clean and has lots of amenities and space for gatherings. I also notice the hotel seems busy and yet I hardly ever hear my neighbors.

Did you know that this hotel has an airport shuttle? Thankfully they do and it's 24 hours a day!!! My flight was delayed until 1:30 AM and they had the shuttle at the airport waiting for me and when I got to the hotel they had the key and the check in all ready to go so it took no longer than 15 minutes from airport to the room!! They were also kind enough to shuttle me to Carroll College the next morning so I didn't have to walk with my luggage. Talk about amazing customer service! I will be staying here again for sure.

We stayed Dec 3-5 2021. This was such a great place to stay! Staff was great and breakfast was yummy. We definitely look forward to staying again! We were there for a company Christmas party and that was great food as well. If you are looking for a getaway or somewhere to have a party...I highly recommend it!

We stayed Great Northern Best Western in Helena on Nov 28.2021. The ambiance at the front desk was calm, professional, very accommodating and not just to us. Def make you feel welcome and valued. The lobby furnishings are wonderful, good quality. Makes you feel as though 'you've arrived, even though we were fresh from camping and a lil grungy lol. The room was excellent as well. Clean, well furnished, comfortable bed, TV and wifi gave no issues, plus we were able to see our rig in the parking lot from our room. Breakfast was truly impressive. Great coffee, fresh made salsa, muffins etc. Great selection of hot food - eggs, potatoes, sausage to breads, muffins, yogurt, fruit, cereals, beverages etc. Very well done indeed. We will make a point of staying here our next trip through.

Enjoyed our stay and had a great breakfast. Of course pet rooms are in the basement with no view (except the dumpster) and exorbitant pet fee. Mushy mattress, and early morning noise outside at dumpster led to poor sleep.

Thank you for responding! I do apologize that you were disturbed in the early morning. We do have additional pet rooms on the other side of the hotel including several with a patio entrance that many guests enjoy for their pet stays. Our pet friendly rooms are limited to one level in order to contain allergens for sensitive guests. The pet fee is to defray the cost of the extra carpet shampooing that we do the make the room as fresh as possible for the next occupant. I am very pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast! Please, visit with us again to explore other possibilities.

Best hotel stay in a while. Everything was great...comfortable very clean room, convenient location to Carroll College, places to eat, running paths, great breakfast. Good hot tub, work out room. We will be back on our future visits to Helena.

First off, we don't like leaving poor reviews but this experience was so horrible we feel others should know. We let some time pass before writing this review and we still feel disgusted. Not sure how this hotel is rated "#1" in Helena. We had stayed here once last year and it was a much better experience although we had noticed none of the surfaces had been wiped down. This visit was absolutely disgusting. The hotel & lobby have a very fancy appearance and it's a "premier" location. Upon check-in, we entered into our 3rd floor room (as requested). Pictures below will give full details on how dirty these rooms were. Our room had a dirty toilet, a writing pen on the floor in the bathroom along with 3 pieces of tissue, the sink had not been clean, hair, the soap dish looked like they took the used soap out and placed a wrapped bar there without exchanging for a clean dish. This grossed us out and we walked further into the room to find a bed that was sort of made, but looked like it had been slept in. We went down to the front desk and she apologized and handed us another room key on the 3rd floor. This room was also disgusting. We asked if perhaps there are different cleaning crews throughout and maybe we could have a room cleaned by someone else. The young woman at the front desk said, "Sorry, our bad" and proceeded to send us upstairs AGAIN (toting our luggage). This time, to meet the young maintenance man to look at 2 more rooms. He opened the door, held it ajar for me to peek in while keeping lights off and asked, "will this be fine?". These two were also not clean but one DID have a bed that looked freshly made. This bed was extremely comfortable. It was after 9pm by this time so we opted for the one with the cleanest looking bed and planned to visit with a manager the following morning since there wasn't one on duty at the time. Upon browsing the TripAdvisor reviews, we saw there were some others that had this same experience. Then we saw the front office response posted as follows, "We appreciate your feedback from your stay. As you can see from other reviews, these are not typical comments for our hotel". THIS raises concern! Zero accountability, and basically writing the reviewers off. We are not picky people, we have Airbnb's and understand the importance of providing a clean guest space. My husband honestly has standards that are far below average as well as a personality that doesn't like conflict or to speak negatively. That night and the next morning he said, "I feel SO disgusting here, this is ridiculous". I agreed. A hotel that was rated first in the capital city, and rates at $200/night!!! As another reviewer said, when traveling and staying in a high class hotel-we shouldn't have to move to 4 rooms upon check-in. The following morning we were debating checking out or giving the manager a chance. We had already paid a non-refundable charge for TWO nights so that was weighing heavy. We went down to the front desk to speak with manager LeRoy. We are sure he heard of the chaos the night before. I explained (very sweet & kindly) our situation the night before and how we are still feeling quite disgusted. He seemed very distant and non-caring. Even worse, when I tried to show him a few pics on my phone of what kind of nastiness I was referring to-HE REFUSED TO LOOK AT THEM. Then, because we booked 3rd party-he said there is NOTHING he can do. No gift cert for another BW or refund or anything. I said something about the reviews and he said THE SAME thing as above about this not being a typical complaint. We were going to event that day and wouldn't be back until evening. He offered to keep our bags and put us in A FIFTH ROOM! We definitely didn't trust him or the staff to keep our bags. We agreed to a FIFTH room, and asked if he could maybe look at it first and get it cleaned before we arrive back that night. We received a call at 1230pm that our new room was ready. Upon arriving back to the motel for our final night, the lobby was jam-packed. So we waited a bit on the side and finally got a card to a corner suite type room with 3 sliding glass doors. This bed was different than the other. This room was somewhat cleaner than the others but still the surfaces weren't clean, still had pink mold in the tub, slider doors had dog slobber all over them, more than 10 pieces of hair... So sad that the quality is so poor, they will take ZERO responsibility, and they look at you like you're crazy when bringing it up. There are super cheap motels that are way cleaner than this. Needless to say, we won't be returning and CERTAINLY will NOT be recommending this establishment to anyone.

Great hotel property with full amenities and services. I always try to stay at this location when travelling to Helena, Montana. The bar and restaurant are top notch also, although maybe a bit pricey if you are a budget traveler.

Couldn't find reservation checking in because I used a third party. They had another room open. Was charged for bothrooms. I tried to explain to the staff when checking in it was pending on two cc. Morning staff correct the problem. Bathroom floor was stick, and dirty. We cleaned it with sanitation wipes. Blow drier did work. Someone charged $50 extra room service to our room.

Ms. Huseby - Your reservation was found that was booked through Expedia. They had your name reversed, Huseby was showing as a first name not last. Staff did call you and get the room service error corrected. It was a busy night at the Silver Star, and they were happy to correct the bill right away. I am sorry your room was not up to your expectations, or ours. I do hope you will give us another chance on a future trip to Helena. We are regular guests at the Great Northern and look forward to our stay each time we come! From the quiet room by the pool, to the great breakfast options (healthy for me and waffles and bacon for my kiddo), we love our time spent as a family. It's in a great location with a leisurely walk downtown or just a few steps from the Silver Star restaurant followed by a ice cream at the Carousel. We will return again and again.

This is a fabulous hotel and it felt good just walking into the beautiful well appointed lobby. It's situated in an interesting new area of other businesses and restaurants all joined/close together. There was a wonderful small type plaza with a small waterfall and animal sculptures. A very pleasant place by the hotel. Our room was spacious with the space used wisely. Liked having a chair and ottoman to sit and read by. Artwork is railroad themed as I believe it was the hub of the Great Northern Railroad. Beds were comfy and we slept well. Great shower and nice good quality towels. There was a nice sized indoor pool, but didn't use. Also a nice small gym with artwork, also didn't use. They had a lovely area for conferences with great old photos of the early days of Helena and the Great Northern Railroad, which is the theme of the hotel. Breakfast was hot and very good, with eggs, bacon, coffee cake, to name a few. Helena is the state capitol and we found it interesting to visit the Millionaire Mansions, Victorian homes, and the capitol.

My wife and i recently had a stopover in Helena. Helena is a nice city but the choice of hotels is limited. I chose Best Western Premiere and was not disappointed. The hotel is modern and attractive and the rooms are well appointed. More importantly, the staff were very helpful. On checkin, the representative— Robert if I recall— went the extra mile to be both courteous and helpful. We used the hotel steakhouse for dinner because of its convenience and it did not disappoint. Once again, the people were the plus— server Kelly— took the time to offer useful travel recommendations for our continuing trip. Great value.

The location of this hotel is good. The night we stayed the restaurant next door was closed and that was a bummer. The check in was great- the man more than helpful. The problem was the room was not clean. We checked in and left our items and went to town. When we came back we used the bathroom and dirty towels were hung up- the mirror had never been cleaned. The shower full of pink where mold hadn't been cleaned. I went to the front desk and the girl said "oh we will have to talk to him" that was it.......I mentioned I was a little uncomfortable staying in the room wondering if any of it had been cleaned. She passed new towels to me and that was it. We were there for one night and I decided not to push it..I had asked earlier for an upper floor but was told my room was pre assigned on the first floor. The mattresses need to be changed out. We had two queen beds and both were very uncomfortable. The lobby is very nice and I used the laundry. One washer and dryer for the entire hotel which was very busy while we were there. Breakfast ok- staff was great in clearing and keeping this area clean. All in all a little disappointed....

I am sorry to read you did not care for our Simmons pillow top mattress. We chose Simmons beds again due to the high compliments of our beds. Hopefully you will visit us again so that we may improve on your experience.

Great area to be, especially if you are unfamiliar with Helena, as we were. The Hotel is walking distance to eating and shopping. Hotel was very clean and well maintained with a very nice hot breakfast.

The hotel was immaculate and so was the area all around the hotel. So pleasant to stroll in the courtyard garden. Good steak restaurant is attached so it's all very convenient. The staff was very helpful and attuned to our every need. I would highly recommend this hotel and city. A must-see is The Cathedral of St. Helena a few blocks away. Great hotel at a great price!

Our overall stay was pleasant, but beware of LeRoy. He is why this hotel is getting a 3 star - I would give him 0 stars. He was extremely arrogant, condescending, and did not honor what we had been previously told. There was no reasoning with him, so be sure if one of the other wonderful employees confirms something with you (2x) you get it in writing! PS...we were only asking for a one hour later check-out due to our flight leaving later in the afternoon.

This is one of the nicest Best Westerns we have stayed in. It's in a great location in downtown Helena. We particularly liked the breakfast. In spite of the pandemic restrictions, there was still a good choice of buffet offerings as well as yogurt, cereal and fruit.

The hotel has great rooms when traveling with a dog. The rooms open up to a patio and outside access where you can easily take the dog out for walks. We always stay here when tracing through Helena. Highly recommend.

Best Western has really upped their game in recent years and we opted to stay here as we had some reward credit to use. We arrived about 3:30 pm and were able to check in early. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was quite large with very nice amenities, including robes! Spent some time in the hot tub, which was in good working order. Pool was very nice as well. The hotel is in a central location, with several restaurants and a movie theater in walking distance. The complimentary breakfast the following morning was good, with a variety of options. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this location and hotel!

I have to travel frequently to Helena for work and the Best Western Great Northern is where I always stay anymore. I've tried other hotels but between the great restaurant and lounge for work meetings, the conference facilities, the lovely and quiet rooms, and the nice breakfast staff, I won't stay anywhere else anymore.

We stayed here on our way home after a family trip to Glacier National Park. It is a superb hotel. Friendly, welcoming, and professional staff. Very clean, very nice and very comfortable rooms. The hotel also has a great location in a vibrant part of Helena, which is a hidden gem of a city.

Decent location. A little dated but clean rooms. Spacious rooms. Nice breakfast, but very small dining room. There are a few Adirondack chairs just outside. Better than other Best Westerns I've stayed in.

Travel to Helena many times each year. First stay at the Great Northern, wow... clean and very quiet. Staff is fantastic and helpful. Room was just perfect for our stay. I made 2 separate hotel reservations for the same day one for myself and another for friends going to the same wedding and were traveling with me and my daughter. As this was a wedding in the evening, we started early in the afternoon to travel to Helena. Anticipating summer road construction we took a longer route and thought we had all contingencies for travel and timing checked. We realized we were not going to be able to physically check in, share some prosecco and change into wedding clothes...so went to check in via website and phone with spotty service as we had to travel several mountain passes and rural valleys to get to Helena, Montana. Then the other and bigger comedy of errors occurs; I realized my reservation was for the same date in July......and not the June date I needed. There were so many events in Helena and the surrounding towns that there was literally no room at ANY inn......and the wait list was LONG for any cancels, anywhere. I was driving, so my very capable well travelled co-pilot and navigator went to work, once we had service, and along with the GM at this property: Suzanne Malarae worked a miracle and found us not one but two rooms for that night; and at the same price. Long story shortened, we ended up changing into our wedding clothes in the car and travel rest stop....doing make up while driving (including eye liner) with visor mirror....and arriving just as the bride was walking down the beautiful shaded, grassy knoll. I hope the owners of this Best Western property pay Suzanne and her staff really, really well, they are worth their weight in gold to travelers of our state and everywhere. Thank you for a really great post-COVID experience in excellence.

We loved staying here! The pool was a great break at the end of a warm day exploring, the rooms were clean and well kept, and the breakfast was delicious! My kids (ages 15 and 13) loved this hotel and they have become seasoned travelers so that's saying something.:-) You can't go wrong staying here.

The expansive room layout, decor, and amenities makes it feel like you are staying in a resort rather than a hotel. A nice touch is a separate coffee making station with sink and then another sink and counter in the living area.

The hotel itself is nice and appears clean. The restaurant is amazing, great food and service. Unfortunately that's where it ends. When we went into our room, we noticed that the shower was full of pink mold. Then my husband used the toilet, he pointed out that it was also dirty. It had urine and a hair on it. We went down to the desk to tell the staff, and the man at the desk assured us he would take care of it. We were upgraded to a different, much nicer room, which we would never have asked for. We just wanted our room clean. But it was nice anyway. He told us the person in charge of housekeeping was personally checking the room over, and to wait 5 minutes. We waited about 10, and went up to the new room. She and another member of the staff were still in the room. They were a little rude about us walking in on them. They then proceeded to make excuses for the pink mold on the shower. She informed me that they needed to call in people to bleach the areas. I asked her not to make excuses, as I know that pink mold wipes off fairly easily, as well as the simple fact that hotels should be bleaching everything when cleaning. Anyway, they left and we looked around. The shower in this room was also full of pink mold, and the toilet in this room was absolutely disgusting. This toilet had pink mold and hair all over the back of the toilet lid. I took a picture and went back downstairs. I said we were going out to eat and hoped it was cleaned by the time we got back. We went back to our room and it smelled of bleach. Good sign right? Nope. The shower was completely white, looked great. The toilet…well they kind of wiped it but only across the top, and left pink mold and hair all over the side of it. At this point we checked out. Also, the thermostat/ac did not work well at all. Couldn't get it to be below about 75 in the room. Horrible for sleeping. I do not recommend this place at all.

The Great Northern Best Western Premier Hotel was perfect for us. The room was large, well appointed and quiet. The shower was truly amazing. Also, what a pleasure to get full housekeeping if desired since this seems to be sketchy at other hotels since COVID and with employee shortages. Parking was very convenient. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful with all questions about the hotel and about Helena. The adjoining Silver Star Steak Company was great for food and drinks. Next time we are in Helena, the Great Northern will be our choice.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. Having never been to Montana, we ran into a few hurdles on how to get from the Bozeman airport to this hotel in Helena and Robert at the front desk went out of his way to try to help us find a way. He called taxis, and rental services and gave ideas on other possibilities. Once we arrived at the hotel, he was very knowledgeable about the area and able to point us in the direction of things to do, things worth seeing, restaurants, bars, etc. Cleanliness and accommodations as a whole were 5 stars!

My wife and I just returned home from Helena after a 7-night stay at the Great Northern: something we've done in 4 of the past 5 years. After long days of fishing on the Missouri, we returned to a spotless, room; well-appointed and comfortable. The hotel is situated near 3 good restaurants, and a wonderful barbecue diner that you should not miss. We had excellent transport to and from the airport - a must if rental cars are scarce, or you don't feel like driving. Above all, though, we experienced a superior level of service: from an almost immediate response to a refrigerator needing adjustment, to the immediate return of an object left in the room, to the friendly and competent attention at the front desk. That is the true mark of fine management; that is the major reason we have stayed at Best Western Hotels in Wyoming, Utah, and Rome! Well done, GN and BW.

I stay at the Great Northern Hotel every time I visit Helena. I am a very light sleeper, and my room has always been comfortable and quiet, so I get a good night's sleep. The breakfast is tasty and convenient. What I like best is how friendly and welcoming the staff members are. They are very respectful, patient, and responsive whenever I have a question or problem. The shuttle bus driver from the airport greets me by name, and so does the breakfast server. On my most recent visit, I was in a rush to attend a dressy occasion but had forgotten my cuff links. Suzanne at the front desk came to my aid! She instantly came up with large safety pins and expertly adjusted my shirt cuffs for me. I will absolutely stay here again in the future, and I recommend it to others.

We stayed at the Great Northern while we were in Helena for work last week. While there, I discovered a little girl's pink swimsuit hidden behind the drapes in my room. Since housekeeping was limited because of COVID, I had elected to not have my room made up every day, so I left the swimsuit out for the housekeeping staff to find when I checked out. That evening I received a call from the front desk letting me know that I had left something behind in my room and asking me to check with them on getting it returned to me. The hotel is spacious, spotless, centrally located, and very comfortable – but that kind of extra effort really sets it apart.

I attended the Tourism Advisory Council meeting at the Helena Great Northern Hotel on June 14-15. The staff could not have been more accommodating. While some of the COVID restrictions are being limited the staff worked to insure everyone felt safe in the hotel.

Very nice clean new hotel. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Free real breakfast at hotel. Great location in the heart of town. My son and i were on a off the grid week long trout fishing trip. The hotel stored all of our extra baggage between stays free of charge. I mistakenly left a couple items in the room on my last stay. I called the hotel and they shipped everything to me immediately. I stay in at least 100 hotels a year and highly recommend this one.

We enjoyed staying at this Best Western over the Memorial Day week-end. The front desk needed additional staff and the young lady was struggling to accommodate the check ins and requests. Our request for an additional pillow was not completed. We went to desk twice and both times she was so busy, we felt bad for her. The breakfast was great; it was nice to see a traditional hotel buffet again. When the eggs were low and requested more; the attendant was prompt in making more and then brought us over a separate plate. The room was comfortable, bed nice and the atmosphere was quiet. Nice to be able to walk to restaurants and enjoy the area.

The room was a bit pricy however if you want to be in the down town area of Helena this is the place to stay. The hotel is within walking distance to many of the businesses and places to eat. The setup of our room was the best. Not only a full bath but also an additional sink/vanity outside of the restroom.

I wanted a fairly new, upscale, and centrally located hotel and this BW Premier delivers! Actually, we were nervous about a Best Western but we'd never stayed in a "premier" level property. This hotel must be the finest hotel in the BW chain - you would think you were in a much more expensive brand. The hotel seems brand new and everything is in excellent condition. The room we were given was enormous, with perfect furnishings and huge windows. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and obviously proud of their property. There is free parking, either at nearby outdoor lot or indoor parking lot. It's about a 15 min walk to the heart of the historic district of Helena; we walked in the afternoon to explore but drove down for dinner (a 2 min drive and plenty of parking in downtown). It was by far the best hotel of the trip - and by far the best hotel in Helena.

My husband and thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Great Northern. The location was very quiet, room was very comfortable and staff welcoming and pleasant. The dinner we had at the adjacent restaurant was outstanding as was the service.

We stayed here during a cross country trip. The hotel is in a great area and is very nice inside. The staff helped us find a good restaurant and were very friendly. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated.

rooms were filthy, staff was rude, room service doesn't not cater to children. Nothing on the menu for kids. Parking is off site. Not a good location. pool is surrounded by guest rooms so people are always watching you and your kids No good views. View of roofs Miss out on great Montana Views.Terrible hotel. Stay at Home 2 Suites by Hilton. We move there immediately. GREAT HOTEL

Sabrina, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback of your stay. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. As you can see, we don't see these types of scores and comments. We are a downtown location and have limited views and parking. We are able to make that up by being close to the walking mall and Great Northern Carousel, which many kids enjoy. I would be happy to speak with you further. Our staff is always getting compliments and would like to be able to speak with the staff member that you found rude. I do hope you have a nice holiday weekend.

Excellent, rooms were clean, all amenities were available, the staff are friendly and always willing to help. Overall a great experience, we will definitely return when traveling through. The Manager was able to accommodate our request for an upgraded room as well. Very nice Hotel!

The hotel is in a great location, quiet but centrally located. On a snowy night it was a cozy place to dine and sleep. Dinner menu offerings were varied with many choices and the chardonnay I enjoyed was excellent as was my partner's mule drink. Server was helpful with our questions.

This is our favorite hotel to stay at when we visit our daughter at Carroll College. You can not beat the location. We park our car for the weekend and walk a block to campus. The Helena downtown area is right there. It is a charming area to spend the weekend. There are several great options for ice cream and great shopping. The hotel is great for cleanliness, service, and staff. The breakfast is good too...

We certainly enjoy our Carroll College families and have housed them for all 18 years we have been open! We get to know so many over the years - often with multiple students from one family :) There is much to do in the Town Center as you describe and you can't stay any closer to the college unless you are in a dorm. A great hotel that feels like home. Clean, always pleasant and friendly staff. Exceptional breakfast, fitness center & pool. In the heart of Helena with restaurants, delicious ice cream and a movie theater nearby. Like Carroll College.

Spacious room and a beautiful property. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The adjacent restaurant/bar is upscale with excellent food and service. Breakfast features HOT food and real silverware and dishes. I'll be staying here on future visits to Helena. Lobby was spacious with fireplace and leather chairs. Also had tables that you could easily conduct a business meeting or interview.

This is our second stay at Great Northern, and we plan on using it annually when we visit Helena. It's always clean and the people are friendly. We have bailed on different hotels because of their lack of cleanliness, but this venue lives up to our standards.

If you are in Helena to visit Carroll College, the is THE place to stay. Convenience and access are superb. Just across the street from campus. The hotel is very nice and has a wonderful restaurant attached. Parking is extremely convenient. Friendly and courteous staff.

I LOVED this hotel. It is within walking distance to everything. The breakfast was great, and they even had gluten-free toast! If you stay here, you must dine at the Silver Star Steak house, and the Big Dipper Ice Creamery.

I haven't stayed at many best westerns in the past. This hotel seemed upscale from the previous ones I would go back I really liked the look of hotel inside the breakfast and coffee including a few types of creamer etc The pool and room service were good and the Restraunt attached was good I also enjoyed that you could walk to a few other restraints the noodle house was great Staff was overly polite I called for a couple items they brought them up fast and didn't have a hand out Over all a great experience and if I'm in Helena I will stay here again Dan alch

Thank you Dan! I am so pleased you enjoyed the Great Northern Hotel here in Helena. Our location in the Great Northern Town Center provides our guests with options for dining and taking in much of the history Helena has to offer. We do hope you are able to come back and stay with us.

My room was very dirty. There was toothpaste splattered on the mirror, pubic hair in the bathtub, and a strange smear on the windows. For the money, there are better places and I would not recommend staying here.

I had been coming here 2-3 times a year before Covid. The location is perfect for downtown Helena, hiking, and Carroll College. The staff was wonderful. It was GREAT. However, I stayed here during April 2021, and I have lost all respect for the management and Best Western as a brand/chain. While they clearly state masks and social distancing are a policy, guests were ambling around the entire property without masks, without social distancing, and clearly not caring about the pandemic. The pool was full of people, carousing and flaunting the rules. People were running around the hotel, loudly, with no masks. It was a disgrace! The icing on the cake was that the housekeeping staff had NO masks and were clearly sick! The woman I saw, was coughing (like, seriously coughing. She should have been home in bed.). This was unacceptable. I will be tested every 2 days for 14 days after this stay. If I come down with Covid after this stay, I will post again. It is a total shame. This place was my "go-to." But after this fiasco, I am sad to say I will not be able to come back unless they enforce their clearly stated policies.

Thank you for visiting with me on the phone this morning Sarah. We are 1 of 3 counties in this state with the Mask Mandate. It is difficult to control those visiting in the halls. The Great Northern Hotel has taken great care for our guests as you can see from other reviews during this pandemic. The safety of our staff and our guests is our upmost concern. We do check each employee each morning upon arrival to their department. The individual you noted has asthma, but should have had a mask on at all times on the guest floor. I believe you did see all other staff members wearing their masks as required. You have stayed with us many times and are a loyal guest. I do hope you will continue to stay with us on your future visits to Helena.

I really have nothing to say about this place but AWESOME!! I will definitely be staying here every time I go to Helena for a quick getaway. Everything was exceptional and convenient. Thanks to the staff as well as they were extremely kind and helpful.

Driving from California to Canada we wanted to stop in Helena so researched a few places. Upon arrival we were so impressed with the hotel itself, the area it's located in and the room we had with our 2 dogs. The service was excellent, the staff so friendly and the grounds so well kept. We'd love to come back and stay in the summer to see the landscaping and walk around the town. We have already highly recommended this Best Western Premium Hotel to friends and family.

Beautifully decorated very comfortable the staff was courteous and polite My room was comfortable quiet and clean. The hotel location was central easy to locate and the onsite parking lot was convenient and close to the doors.

Nice facilities. Adjacent to a very good restaurant with direct walk though entry without having to go outside. Central location within the city allowing for easy access to numerous amenities.Highly recommended hotel for any one visiting Helena, MT.

We ended up here because our home was broken. We needed a big enough room for both of us to work. The king mini suite was perfect. There is a great restaurant connected where you can get take out or room service. Breakfast was hot and good, especially the waffles! View out our 3rd floor window was pleasant.

We really enjoyed our stay . The staff were very friendly . The Breakfast provided was wonderful and we never felt rushed , even when making it to breakfast at the last minute . We brought our two small dogs and loved the pet friendly areas they provided . The on site steak house and bar was delicious with great service . It was all very comfortable and easy . We will definitely be back !

The hotel is beautiful, clean and the rooms excellent. Room service was very good. Front staff went above and beyond to get me to my destination when my car would not start and could not get a cab or any other form of transportation. I have stayed here before and would not want to stay anywhere else in Helena. Wonderful place!!!

Helena's Great Northern hotel is very attractive, conveniently located within walking distance to shops, movies, carousel, kids' museum, walking track, ymca, dog park, restaurants and more! The hotel is very clean and quiet with comfortable beds, attractive decor, and every amenity one would need. The kind shuttle driver picked me up right on time at the airport and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in went quickly and they kindly took my bags to room. I felt very safe here during this pandemic as attention to detail and cleanliness was apparent throughout the hotel. The breakfast was delicious as was the coffee ! I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to everyone from business travelers to families with young children. An ideal location in Helena!

long time best western member first time at the best western premier in Helena Mt. My husband and I have always appreciated the attention given to us at any Best Western we've stayed at but must admit we were dazzled by this particular hotel. We were shown royal treatment, given one of their best rooms, : I think because it was our first time and they wanted it to be memorable" and then calling once in our room to make sure everything was just perfect. Good Job, we will be regular guests from here on in. The Swansons.

So Glad we chose the Great Northern Hotel. Its clear that this hotel took extra measures to insure the cleanliness of our room and of the entire building. We live in the Helena area but decided to book a night at the Great Northern Best Western as a way to "get away" during the pandemic. My kids had a blast! We felt very safe knowing that they have strict cleaning protocols and safety measures in place. I highly recommend it!"

This hotel is a short distance from the attractions in the historic district. There are restaurants and shopping within easy reach. Parking was convenient. Staff was very friendly and efficient. The room was very comfortable with nice linens and towels, and a well appointed bath. They did a nice job serving a hot breakfast in spite of Covid restrictions.

This is amazing hotel with so many amenities. Breakfast was great we at witb a good selection. Stores nearby and dogs welcome. Everyone was very friendly. The room was excellent,very clean. We would stay again! Highly recommended.

Thought it was closer to the pedestrian mall but with some extra steps, it was close enough. Lesley serving breakfast was a star even when confronted with guests that pointedly didnt wear masks until the end when they put on trump masks and laughed loudly at what delightful people they were. I feel bad for the staff but they were real troopers. Japanese restaurant next door was great. Good location, great lobby and standard of facilities. Would definitely recommend and stay again post election.

This hotel is lovely with some historic charm and highlights presenting some history about Helena. The rooms are beautiful and relaxing we kept wanting to add more days while we were staying there. I also love that they always have coffee brewed and available all throughout the day, for someone who drinks too much coffee, this is an absolute delight! This is probably our favorite hotel especially in the Uptown Helena area!

Stayed the night before moving my daughter in at Carroll College. Very close to Carroll and downtown with lots of shops, restaurants, etc nearby. Clean, quiet, spacious rooms. Quick checkin. Will be staying here every time I come back to Helena

From the time we entered the front door the staff was super. They were operating on a small staff but were always there to help. The rooms were clean and nice!!! We did enjoy the pool and the exercise room. We spent lots of time in the cafe and lounge and were really taken care of. If you want a nice place to stay for what ever reason, this is it.

This BW is a good location, centrally located for all area needs. Easy to get around from. It was clean and quiet. This stay used bonus points. I appreciate the BW rewards program. Also, my travels often take me through rural areas that require an overnight stay enroute. I find Best Westerns in smaller less populated areas than other chains. Thank you BW.

The staff was helpful and cheerful, the rooms were very clean(even the windows) and modern. The price was in line for what we received. We plan to return in the future if the prices do not get too high during the peak season.

This is an excellent hotel. It us very clean and really comfortable. I certainly would recommend staying here. There is a fee for parking except on the weekend. We stayed during the virus so the usual hot breakfast was not available.

Before I retired, I was employed by the State of MT working 90 miles away in Great Falls. When the need arose, I and others traveled to Helena, the state capitol. My favorite hotel was this one. It had been 5 years since my last business trip when the need arose for a Helena medical appt. Since my appt was set for 8 a.m., I made a reservation at the Great Northern for the night before--just as the Corona Virus was beginning to have its American heyday. My companion and I checked into our lovely, large room Sun. evening, having been greeted by friendly, informed staff; our room was perfectly clean and welcoming. There were many pristine breakfast alternatives AND no overcrowding. It was below zero outdoors but quite warm and comfortable within the hotel. Great job, Great Northern!

Fantastic place. Very stylish and up to date. Great views from rooms. Great food for breakfast and dinner.(restaurant located in hotel). Located in the center of a downtown retail area, with lots of restaurants and shops.

This Best Western May be one of the higher priced ones we have stayed in, but with the coronavirus hitting everyone, their premises was clean, the staff caring and knowledgeable, and the way breakfast was served was very clean, safe and with a smile - there was no fear of contamination here. Traveled to Helena for a short business stay. Hotel was clean, quiet, and staff all were pleasant and helpful. Adjoining restaurant menu had a nice varied menu and food was excellent. Stayed during covid19 pandemic and hotel staff were very attuned to the situation.

Stayed when called for jury duty (courthouse very convenient across the parking lot). Loved the fresh cookie greeting me at the counter. Reservation with Robert was very accommodating the day before. Room was very clean and nice, breakfast great and parking was easy. Did not get selected for jury duty so only one nights stay but will definitely choose Great Northern Hotel on the next visit to Helena. Connie Belgrade, Mt.

All the staff were completely accommodating! The complementary airport shuttle was always prompt. The front desk staff gave helpful recommendations for dinning withing walking distance, as well as reminders for signing up for shuttle drop offs. The cleaning staff were very thorough and they respected my choice to not have my towels and sheets cleaned everyday. The breakfast bar had several healthier options and they had a great hot drink bar in the lobby with lots of tea, hot chocolate and coffee options. It was available all day.

Dear Katiesimps0n - As I mentioned to the previous review - Beds, pillows and even coffee are certainly personal tastes we respect in our guest. Have a guest tell us it is the "best night of sleep I have had on the road in a long time!", instills to us that we are taking care of the majority of our guests! We put our best foot forward each day and reviews like your's are very rewarding to us. Thank you so much!

Hard Bed, no pillow options except very thick. Not friendly. Room keys quite working twice during our stay. Breakfast was average. Coffee was HORRIBLE. Basically warm water. I stay in a lot of hotels and this was not one I will be going back to. No on demand or "smart" options on the TV's.

We do know each guest has a personal preference in beds and pillows, unfortunately, we are not able to meet all needs and we respect your choices. We do hope you will give us another opportunity when you visit Helena in the future.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Walkable to restaurants and movie theatre. Rooms are very spacious and well appointed. Friendly staff. Little more attention to the breakfast buffet..water for tea was cold (I just used the microwave) and no black tea was available minor issue.

Was in town for business--stayed here for the first time. Great little place to stay. Pool was out of commission, but not a huge deal. Great free breakfast, room was average size, but very clean. Great location as well.....

I stay at this location many times a year. I travel for meetings/conferences and this location is one of my favorites!!!! It's conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions. Also the rooms are clean and quiet. The pool and hot tub were being refinished so we're not in use at this time. Highly recommend anyone choose this location. Also the attached restaurant is fantastic!

Every time I stay at the Great Northern Best Western, it gets better and better. The rooms continue to upgrade the comfort features, staff has always been helpful, breakfast room is fantastic (always something for everyone) and the meeting rooms and lunches GREAT!!!

Exceptional quality and very reasonable price. Wonderful on site restaurant/lounge. From the front desk - to housekeeping - all staff was friendly, helpful and accomadated us as we were traveling with a small child.

In town for business, this was a great place to stay. The lobby is very welcoming and has an attached bar including an amazing steak restaurant. I was in a room with a King bed - it was a very spacious room compared to other hotels I frequent. Bed is SUPER comfy, room is very clean, and hotel is very quiet. When I'm in the area again, I'll stay here!

We were tired after a long drive from Waterton National Park, and our first impression pulling at the driveway of the hotel was "wow". We were happy and thankful to Garrett from BW in Shelby for his recommendation. BWP is in a great location with shopping and Cinemark theatre just 5 minutes walked (reminded us of Market St in The Woodlands, Texas). We watched Jumanji that night. Helena is surrounded by mountains and it was breath takings. We wished we could stay one more night but have to go back to Alberta for prior engagement. The room has a high ceiling, comfy pillows & mattresses, spacious and luxurious with great breakfast at a reasonable price. We were sad to leave...

Recently held my daughter's wedding reception at the Great Northern Hotel in Helena, Mt. Everyone from the front desk (Jasmine and others), the event coordinators (Cindee & her assistant - Nicholas) to the set-up crew (Phil and the gang) were absolutely wonderful to work with. We had the Silverstar cater the food, which was fabulous. Most of the guests stayed at the hotel to find clean rooms, helpful housekeeping folks, a good breakfast (s)...not 1 complaint! My wife and I were extremely happy working with entire crew. Look forward to visiting again. Thank you for making this a very special day for my daughter!

As soon as you walk in, it feels like home. Fireplace and coffee waiting for you. Room was plush but inviting. Stayed in a poolside room. Morning soak was heaven. Delicious breakfast. Everything is very high end.

I've stayed at the Great Northern Best Western twice in the last year and highly recommend. The entire staff is friendly and attentive without ever being overbearing. Both rooms I've been in have been spacious and spotless, and the breakfast is fresh and has a good variety of options. Thanks to the central location and free airport shuttle I didn't need to rent a car, so that's an added benefit for someone who worries about driving in winter conditions.

This property is located in downtown Helena, which was decked out for the season. As we had an expensive road bike to bring in the front desk personnel was very helpful in securing it in storage. The bed was very comfortable providing a great night's sleep.

We have stayed at this property before. The location is in the heart of the city and convenient to just about anywhere downtown. Most importantly the rooms are very well appointed, everything was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Their breakfast has a wide variety of fresh and prepared items for just about any palate as well. The staff, especially the front desk are outstanding. All in all this is the place to stay in Helena!!

Clean, quiet, friendly. We had never stayed there because we thought it was too far from the highway and it was downtown. It is less then five minutes from I-15 in downtown Helena. Plenty of free parking. Nice room for the free breakfast. And our dog was welcomed. Will stay there again!

Helena isn't super large, especially when you considered its the capital city. It is very nice you can get to almost anywhere in town in 10 minutes. I'm glad you had a chance to experience downtown, it has some really nice historical areas. We hope we get the chance to see you again. Maybe in the summer, than you can experience an Alive @ Five event, with music and drinks every Wednesday. Our best to you this Holiday season!

This is the cleanest Hotel I have ever been in. Staff was excellent. Location is perfect. Conference rooms were comfortable. Steak house that is attached has wonderful steaks. The bread pudding dessert was divine.

The location is a bit odd but its a nice location nevertheless. The front desk staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Once we made it to our room we were even more enthused. It was one of the nicest and luxurious hotels I have ever been to. It was the little things like having real coffee mugs for the coffee maker instead of the disposable paper ones you often find at many hotel chains. The breakfast was amazing as well. Buffet style but again with real plates, glasses, mugs and silverware. Once youre finished with breakfast they come and clear your table for you. It was a really nice touch. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to staying at more Best Western Premiers in the future!

We stayed at the Great Northern Hotel in Helena, MT for business Oct. 2019. The hotel is very clean, high quality décor, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The cookies at the front were good. Breakfast was more than most hotels offer, and the young lady working in there was extremely friendly and helpful while I was there. The rooms were clean, and I swear it was the best 2 nights sleep I have had in months. I even sent a message to the hotel to see if they would tell what kind of bed I had in my room. I highly recommend this hotel, not only for business, but I would take my family there also.

We were just passing through and stopped at Best Western. Hotel is a long way off highway, terribly overpriced, has poor parking a long way from hotel. The staff is mediocre at best and could probably Beni it from some training.

Check in went quick and was accurate. Pool was open and pleasant. Beds were comfortable and the black out drapes did the job perfectly. Room and all areas were clean and well kept. Location was great with restaurants and sites nearby.

the location of this hotel is PRIME! walking distance to the children museum and carrousel. the Gym in the hotel had wonderful equipment and the pool is a great size. Our room layout was wonderful. the breakfast had great variety for my picky toddler and Husband

There is much to see and do in Helena, and we love our location being near the museum, carrousel and the movie theater! Plus there is much more to explore in the city. We only stayed one night, but I wish we had been able to stay longer. The front desk folks were very friendly and we were able to get a room on the lower floor that had a door opening out to a patio area. The room was spacious and the bed extremely comfortable, (and I am very picky). The location downtown is great during the day, but the town pretty much rolls up the sidewalks at 5:00pm. We did manage to find a good restaurant that evening. We also utlized the exercise room and took a peak at the pool, which looked inviting. The next morning we very much enjoyed the breakfast served at the hotel. We definately will stay here again partly because my husband LOVED the Great Northern Railroad theme.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Great Northern Hotel in Helena. You are absolutely correct, in winter time (we have two season: summer-winter) this town closes up early. I hope you have a chance to visit us in the summer. The towncenter is very lively with afternoon outdoor concerts and Helena's Alive at Five. We recently remodeled our rooms and replaced all the beds with the same type we had before (Simmons Pillowtops) because we received so many compliments. We look forward to seeing you again.

We were there for a conference, and stayed 1 night as it was too expensive to stay more and our company would not pay for 2 nights, we stayed elsewhere. When we went to check out, the front desk manager was horrible. They tried to charge us for 2 nights, when we tried to explain, she was terrible. She argued and in the end required our supervisor to pay for half of the first night for all of us. Suzanne needs some customer service training. She is a terrible representative for a good hotel chain.

Thank you for stating the hotel was great and the room was amazing. I do understand that you understood that your room had been canceled for the 1st night, we did not have that information. When a reservation has a change a new confirmation is generated and sent to the email on file. We had held the room all night in anticipation of your arrival. The Front Office Manager worked with you the best she could in splitting the cost of the night that was not used. I apologize that you felt she was rude as that was not her intention. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future.

This hotel is located in downtown Helena which is a beautiful place to be. Right next door to the carousel which has kids activities and ice cream galore! Also for the adults next door is the Brew Pub within walking distance of the hotel you can eat and drink and not have to drive anymore. The hotel has pool and fitness center and is also connected to a fancy lounge with food and drinks as well. Rooms were super clean the cleaning staff strived to make sure you had anything you needed, check in was fast and check out was faster. Breakfast had only a few options but the food was very good.

Location perfect for business trip, yet walk-able for total enjoyment and sight seeing! Can't beat this place. Check out Reader's Alley (this history makes this my favorite), the Walking Mall, the Fire Tower, view of the Sleeping Giant...and more. Don't forget to eat at the Silver Star Steak Company for amazing grilled sockeye salmon or my favorite, the Huckleberry BBQ Bison Burger! Stop up at the Montana State Capital building, the Cathedral of Saint Helena and more. There is a Walking App for this place.

What a wonderful review for the community! We have much to offer our visitors and it is rewarding to hear that you were able to take so much in. We hope you will consider staying with us on a future visit to Helena.

When we visited, the morning we left we we lucky to have a small dusting of snow. It did make the place picturesque, but also a little slippery underfoot. The bedroom was large with 1 double beds, like most of the hotel/motels we have visited. We spent 2 night's there, and also had Dinner there at night,some people complained about the meals, but our were ok. Although at breakfast there was no gluten free bread, which was disappointing. All in all,it wasn't a bad motel style place. Its the kind of place you stay when passing through.

Thank you for your comments. We do have a good selection of gluten free items and will follow up regarding the breads. If your room only had one bed, it would have been a king size bed. All rooms have either 1 king or 2 queen size beds. We have seen 2 "snow storms" to date this year! It does make everything look very pretty. We hope you will stop by to see us again sometime.

We stayed one night in this hotel....chosen partly because the adjoining steakhouse! The rooms were very nice and it was a very quiet hotel! Check-in was very easy and the desk clerk was very nice and accommodating! The breakfast next morning was very good!

This room was exceptional: New, quiet, outside entry/exit to a patio at garden level, a wet bar, separate bathroom, seating area, etc. It was top-notch! High quality furnishings and central air! WOW. We will definitely be back and will recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Helena. Jared was exceptionally helpful at check-in. He told us about restaurants, the way to walk to the pedestrian-friendly mall, etc. He was very nice and personable. Jasmine was helpful at check-out and obviously loves pets. She was very nice to our friendly black lab and our check-out experience was great. Thanks to both of them!

I stayed here for 4 nights and was very impressed with all aspects of the Great Northern Hotel. The room was very clean, quiet and had plenty of room and comfortable furniture. All of the hotel staff was very friendly and focused on making my stay exceptional. The morning breakfast had a great variety which included different choices each day of my stay. The adjoining steak house had great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Certainly will stay here again in the future.

very nice place, even got there early so I could enjoy ! used room service , prompt N yummy , had steak dinner ! was a perfect spoil myself kinda place !! beautiful court yard , went for walk , nice ! parking a bit different ,off site ------ no biggy though ! enjoyed the free suite upgrade !! yes I will stay again !!!!!

We mostly enjoyed our stay here. We had a spacious room with perhaps a bit too much furniture but comfortable chairs with an ottoman. The countertops were very high which was great for my 6'5” husband but not so much for 5'5” me. The oddest thing was when we plugged in our Apple iPad or phone in the USB ports helpfully situated next to the bed on each side the touch screens started jumping all around and the fingerprint ID did not work. Our electronics worked fine when we used the brick and a regular outlet, though. We brought it up with the front desk and she said that other people had mentioned it as well. The maintenance guy swore he could not reproduce it. It would have been nice if they had left a note about the problem. We were freaked that there was something wrong with electronics. The bed was comfortable and the staff we met were fine. Breakfast was good. We mentioned to the cleaning staff that we would be out for a couple of hours in the afternoon after we had stopped back after lunch to find the room was not cleaned. When we came back later it was still not cleaned. They came back around 5 PM but at that point it seemed too late to bother. But mostly everything was fine.

Thank you for your comments. We have had 2 other guests in the last 18 months have an issue with the USB ports and we can not reproduce it. We believe it to be the type of cord or the electronic item. We have been in touch with the manufacturer regarding this issue. Thank you for sharing it with us. We stayed here for 3 nights and were so impressed with everything the hotel had to offer. Our room was very clean and spacious, had a sink and a fridge and small sitting area. The morning breakfast selection was very good. It is located downtown so there is lots to see and do. The restaurant adjoining the hotel is also very good.

We stayed here one night on our way to Glacier. One of the nicest hotels we've been to in years. Great room with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The breakfast was fantastic and all the employees went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Even had a washer and dryer so we could reload after being on the road for 9 days. Nice restaurant right next door! Great hotel in a lovely town!

Hotel is gorgeous. Room was large. Bathroom was large. Lots of activities just outside the door including restaurants and downtown area. I would have loved staying longer. The view outside the window was beautiful and a nice area to walk.

Excellent hotel facility itself that meets BW Premier standards. Located in the heart of a business ditrict. Parking is very awkward and definitely needs to be addressed. The attached restaurant is excellent with an attentive wait staff.

We've stayed at 1 other BW Premier hotel and like it so much we go back there every time we go to that area. The largest drawback to this property is its location, which we thought would be in an area of retail stores and restaurants. We asked for a map of the area from the front desk, and found it to be very misleading as to how far you had to walk to get to shops or restaurants. Other than the carousel and attached convention center, there are no retail stores or attractions within walking distance. The restaurant next to the hotel isn't highly rated, and other than a breakfast crepe restaurant, a fast food sandwich shop and a local burger restaurant, there are no others to walk to. The parking situation is in a lot used by other businesses, so when we got ready to drive to a dinner restaurant, there were cars circling the lot because there were no empty spaces. We didn't want to lose our parking spot, so we changed our mind and went to the fast food sandwich shop for dinner. Not a very desirable option. After touring Helena the next day, we realized there were other hotels located much closer to restaurants and shopping that we would choose should we visit Helena again. The room itself is very nicely furnished and well lit, even though the walls and decor favor dark grey. The bathroom is brightly lit, the counter is spacious, water pressure is good on the top floor and the tub would fit a tall person. The walls are thin enough that we could tell there was a man talking on his cell phone in the next room, but the A/C fan does provide white noise if you need it. The included breakfast has a choice of hot and cold items and some healthy options like yogurt.

Dear gingerbear16 - thank you for your details review of your stay at the Great Northern Hotel. We are on the north end of downtown Helena. Walk able to the south end and the west side (mansion district). Retail is difficult in many communities today, including Helena. Last Chance Gulch has most of the retail is located. We are proud to have the carousel, Explorations Works (science museum), and movie theaters, We do think there is something for everyone in our great city and we do hope you will come back to Helena again.

Absolute best possible service , room. So good we stayed for 2 nights , as our very first time. Left to continue on next leg of trip. Cut it short by 2 nights and returned to Great Northern !!!! Will return !

Easy parking, close to most things downtown. Hotel is in newer condition and is very nice. I would recommend not being on L floor, it lacks any sort of view opportunity but it was quiet. They have a breakfast but there are also places nearby.

The staff was exceptional! My husband requires the assistance of a service dog. At check-in, the staff was very respectful and informed about service dogs. At breakfast, the hostess circulated through the dining area assisting guests while other employees kept the buffet line well supplied.

This hotel is 15 to 20 years old but appears to be brand new! The lobby is so comfortable and the desk staff very welcoming! Our room was spacious, newly remodeled and very clean! The complimentary breakfast includes two breakfast meats, eggs, potatoes and a waffle bar plus fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals, breads and rolls. Nic3 selection of juices and great coffee. Free parking and convenient to Last Chance Gulch, a Carousel, big meeting spaces, just a first class place!

My 4 year-old daughter and I had a great stay here. The location next to the carousel and science museum is great for families with young kids. The hotel/room was very nice and the breakfast fresh and extensive. Silver Star Restaurant was very accommodating as well with good food and service. The bathroom in the room could've been cleaner.

The hotel itself was nice and staff were friendly. I am very disappointed that housekeeping did not follow their policies regarding lost items. I left my orthodontic retainers on the back of the sink. I reminded myself to grab them, but got distracted by a co-worker. When I got to my next hotel that evening, I called and asked if they could keep them at the front desk to be picked up on my way home the next day. I was told housekeeping would call me back . I did not receive a call back, so the next evening I called to let them know I would stop to pick them up. I was informed they did not have them. I explained that I knew where I left them and described the container they were in, again they said they did not have them. They are very expensive so I waited a couple days and called again. I explained to the gentleman in housekeeping that these retainers were more expensive than most jewelry I could have left behind. He said he understood because they just had a meeting about not throwing away things like that which are left behind! I can only assume that means they realized they threw them away or it is really coincidental that they would have this meeting. I take responsibility for leaving them in the first place but am disappointed that they would not follow their own policy regarding forgotten items and just submit them to their lost and found.

We were on a road trip and this was one of our stops. We were pleasantly surprised with this great hotel. A real gem. Great decor. Great location. Great service. I had called the day before to request an early check in and they said they would put my name on the list. When we arrived Jasmine had seen my request and snatched up the first clean room. It made our visit that much better. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Gem located in the heart of Helena. Their dedication to customer satisfaction and excellence had no boundaries. They hunted down the perfect wine I was looking for. Beautiful lobby and room decor, with fresh flowers and cookies to greet you. The epitomize a true Montana spirit. Breakfast was served from 6:30-10:00 am to accommodate any late sleepers. Conference facility was bright and well equipped, lunch and dinners were tasty fare. The laundry facility of site was just what we needed after a day of hiking and getting caught in a downpour. Relaxing pool and hot tub helped the tired muscles at the end of the day. All in all, I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone .

my wife and i passed through Helena , Montana on our way to glacier national park. what a nice little town and great best western . we've stayed at best westerns in Canada, the U S A and Europe but this may be the nicestest we've experanced. new, hotel , great restaurant on site , other good restaurants in the same block , good brew pub right there . this is in a revamped part of town . good coffee & ice cream shop right there. easy access to the city and city park.

This was a very nice hotel, very clean and a very courteous front desk crew on all shifts. The hotel room was very quiet and I was concerned since I was on the 2nd floor and other reviews said to get a high floor due to noise but that was not an issue.

We booked, in person, at the last minute while driving through town. The room was spacious, clean, and really nice. The staff is friendly. We didn't do much exploring but the hotel is located near some restaurants and a coffee shop.

Very nice newer hotel with great beds and furnishings. Well cleaned motel with the most friendly staff I have ever encountered and is right in the hart of the down town walking district which includes shopping, bar's and a carousel.

We are located in the heart of down town, easy walking to mansion district, Carroll College and other parts of down town. Or stay close by and enjoy a movie, ice cream and a ride on the carousel!. So much fun! Thank you for staying with us and leaving a review!

We were on a road trip from So Cal to a ranch in Montana and stopped in Helena on the way. This hotel is nicely decorated and our room was comfortable and quiet. I like that they include a regular refrigerator instead of the typical mini bar. I was able to refrigerate the food that we are traveling with. The breakfast is included and it was adequate but not great. The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to some restaurants.

I'm not fussy but was very impressed with firstly the outside of the building even though there was some surrounding construction. The front lobby staff was friendly and very thorough, The lobby, hallways, were sparkling clean and decorated appropriately, and room was outstanding. The bed/linens very high end. Located in the heart of downtown Helena. Close to parks and restaurants and easy to get to. Friendly and accommodating staff committed to making each stay perfect. Clean rooms that are nicely decorated and appointed. I've stayed at this hotel several times and have always had a great experience.

We enjoyed our one night stay here. We were celebrating a big anniversary so had a drink in the lounge and dinner in the Silver Star restaurant. Food and service were excellent. We loved the guest robes that were available for use. We received friendly, helpful service from the people at the front desk. We would stay there again. The only negative is not the fault of the hotel. There is road construction all around which made it difficult to get there. However, the women at the front desk gave excellent directions and talked us right in.

I just returned from a family vacation at the GreatNorthern Complex. We were a party of seven aged 67 to 18 months. This place is so well laid out and the concept is wonderful. Great experiences for kids in walking distance for our two toddlers. The Carousel and the Discover Museum and Cinemark theatre kept us busy for three days. We didn't use our car once. The hotel staff were more than accomodating. Quiet rooms beautifully appointed with a wonderful breakfast included. I can't say enough good about this experience. It will become a family destination vacation spot, well located in the center of Helena. We enjoyed the special service we received at the attached restaurant (did I mention in walking distance?) our waiters were kid friendly and we had 5 kids. Thanks Troy for your magic tricks, we were enchanted! Can't wait to see what else will be added to this entertainment district. Thank you for everything!!!!

Well designed with comfortable beds in a comfortable room. Breakfast was above the normal hotel breakfast with so many choices and for me good yogurt. Staff was accommodating. Good shower and towels as well as bed linens.

My wife and I decided to stay here on our trip to Montana and this hotel did everything right. From start to finish, they earned a perfect score in every category. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. The hotel is reasonably priced and clean. The room was clean and cozy. The bed was soft and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We are Diamond Select members and Best Westerns like this make us proud to be loyal guests. The hotel is in a great area with a lot of stores and restaurants in a short distance from the property. We planned only one night in Helena on a family trip through Montana, but this hotel is one of the reasons we wish we had planned for more! We had reserved a room well in advance, and at the last minute decided to get two rooms adjoining - the staff was very accommodating and even adjusted the per room cost down based on occupancy, which I hadn't expected due to the late notice. The facilities at this hotel, room, lobby, fitness, etc. are beautiful, clean, comfortable. Staff is consistently friendly and helpful. Breakfast quality and selection was probably the best "free breakfast" our family has seen at any hotel - and we've seen a lot! Location is very central and we enjoyed walking around historic section of Helena and Carroll College. Also - for you "complimentary cookie on check-in" folks out there - I'm just saying the cookies at this hotel are the cutest and most delicious. We plan to return to Helena to spend more time and we will definitely be staying at the Great Northern.

I always stay here with my kids. Great rooms and service. We particularly love the fresh made breakfast that changes everyday, the hotel pool which we use everyday, the well equipped fitness center (free weights, machines, treadmills) and the amazing location. The carousel is across the street, a great park with running and biking trails and playgrounds is a few minute walk away. There is also a nice kids museum right there and you can walk to downtown. We also enjoyed the restaurants nearby (crepes and japanese ramen and sushi). Can't beat it!

The hotel and rooms were very clean and nice. This is what you would expect for a Best Western Premier property. However, the noise experienced in the room was horrible. We had a room that opening to the pool. We didn't request this room. The room was assigned to us. We checked into a king room and had no children with us. We happened to stay in our room on Saturday evening. The noise from the pool was horrible. It appeared to be a girls team staying in the hotel. The girls yelled and screamed loudly for the evening. I called the front desk at 7:50 to ask when the pool closed and comment about the noise. The desk person checked the pool camera and said the pool did have a lot of people. They also noted they would be kicked out at 10pm. We endured close to 3 hours of yelling and screaming. It was hard to even hear television. I am not sure why they assigned us a room next to the pool when we checked in without children. Spending an evening listening the yelling kids has made me not want to stay at this property considering the price we paid for our room. I would warn any potential guests to check their room assignment when checking into the Great Northern. Rooms bordering the pool can be very noisy.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your review notes that the room was clean and nice, however the location was not to your satisfaction. We were full both Friday and Saturday evenings. The folks in the pool were not an organized group that were planned to stay with us. We do monitor the pool and ensure it is closed down promptly at 10pm. There are only 6 rooms that are by the pool, we certainly try to ensure we get all rooms to their desired location. We do hope you will consider staying with us again here at the Great Northern Hotel.

I've stayed in friendlier and cleaner places for a third of this price. I am recommending my organization no longer stay at this hotel again. The staff was oblivious to customer service. I could not walk around in the room without shoes, gross.

Convenient to everywhere here. The rooms are nice and comfortable. It's a good place to stay on a stopover. I was a little taken aback by the attitude of the breakfast cook scolding guests who arrived a few minutes early. Gee, I thought we were the guests.

We recently spent three nights at this hotel while touring Helena. Every part of the hotel is beautiful and immaculate. Our room was very quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped. The free breakfast offered everything you could possibly want. Front desk staff were helpful and cheerful, and they were very excited to share their city with tourists. The location is perfect, and close by is a walking/cycling/running track for a great outdoor workout. We loved our stay, and we would highly recommend this hotel.

I am very happy you were able to enjoy the options Helena has to offer, we are often overlooked in the tourist industry with the two national parks surrounding us, but we have our own little niche, and we are glad you were able to experience it. If you are ever back in Helena, we would like to see you again.

It was so pleasant to arrive at The Best Western Inn in Helena. We had just driven from Yellowstone area and it was hot and we were tired. As soon as I entered the hotel to check in, I felt refreshed by the cool temperature of the lobby. As I looked around I noticed it was posh and elegant, making me happy that my family would be arriving to this setting. We stayed in two bedrooms that opened up to each other, plenty of space for three couples and a baby. The rooms were clean, there were plenty of towels and supplies, and we had two bathrooms and two bathtub/showers. And there was a mini refrigerator. We came into town for my cousin's wedding and the location was ideal for us, close to all the events. We appreciated the restaurant and free breakfast. My husband and I are vegans and did fine with the hot oatmeal and fruit. The rest of our family enjoyed the variety of choices. The staff was warm, professional, and helpful when we had questions. We visited the Broadwater Hot Springs, just a 10 minute drive from the hotel, and shopped at Natural Grocers, an excellent substitute for Whole Foods or Sprouts. If we return to Helena, we'll definitely choose to stay at The Best Western Inn again.

We have stayed here numerous times on business because it's such a nice hotel. However, the cleanliness of our room this last trip was far below the usual standards of a premiere hotel. The toilet was black at the bottom of the bowl and looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in some time. There was hair on the counters and on the mirrors as if they used the same rag to wipe everything off. Speaking of the counters, there was a build up of grime, which indicated they also hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in some time. Thank goodness we always carry disinfectant wipes with us as we went through a lot of them.

My room was huge! Everything was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable.I loved the roomy bathroom. Big shower and tub and lots of space to get ready for the day. I ate at the steakhouse downstairs and the food was amazing and they had a great wine selection. Check in and check out were very seamless and the staff were all very friendly.

Nice hotel, great location for visiting Carroll College and Helena. It is located in a nice part of Helena with plenty of parking and easy walking to many locations. The hot tube was broken while there so that is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5.

Needed last minute room for conference. Booking direct was easy and efficient. Within moments had email confirmation and inquiry regarding special requests or upgrades. Just wanted a bath tub. When we arrived, we were immediately upgraded to king executive suite. The front desk staff were professional and efficient and the room was beautifully appointed and immaculate. Only complaint is that I did not have enough time to enjoy it as conference started at 730am and we couldn't extend our stay because of college graduation. Easy walk to wonderful restaurants! Will definitely stay again!

Stayed at the Best Western Premier Helena Great Northern Hotel on our way home from down south. We spent 3 nights on our way home and this hotel was by far the best we stayed in. Very nice hotel with an excellent restaurant attached. I left my I-pad in the safe unlocked. I called the front desk the following morning when I realized what I had done. Jasmine answered the phone and within 5 minutes had located my I-pad and assured me it would be shipped to my house right away. It had arrived before I got home from my trip.

We went to Helena to visit family and decided to stay at the Best Western. It was very nice, but there were a couple of minor details that could use some attention. At breakfast, the only tea they had available was Tazo tea - mint. No English breakfast or earl grey... for this of us who are not coffee drinkers, having a good assortment of teas is important. Additionally, the towels in the rooms were very rough and were frayed along the edges. This was a NICE hotel. Did not expect frayed towels. The desk attendants were extremely helpful and polite. The proximity to Carroll College could not be beat. Comfy beds and nice shower amenities.

Best Western Helena Montana gets an A. This hotel is beautiful inside. Extremely clean. The bed is very comfortable. The staff is courteous and helpful. Nice indoor pool and spa. I have never stayed at a BW Premier before. I cannot tell you how comfortable and impressed I was with the BW Premier in Helena, MT. I have been traveling for business for 25 years so I don't get too excited about hotels. Seen one - seen them all is my motto. My biggest concerns are good showers, good lighting, comfortable beds and pillows and a lot of counter space in the bathrooms. This hotel had everything plus more. There were makeup mirrors in the bathroom as well as a little sitting area with a mirror and plug that you could sit down to dry and style your hair. This may not sound important to men or vacation travelers, but it is huge for women business travelers. The hotel staff could not do enough for you. The free breakfast was 10 times better than most hotels - including homemade french toast. There was a game room, indoor pool and many other amenities that made it more like a resort than a hotel in a capital city. I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again if I was in the area. You can't go wrong here.

Although the hotel is completely modern, it's service dates back to when hotels cared about their guests and their comfort. Reservations, check in/out, parking and staff were all 1st rate. This gem is hidden in the walking portion of downtown Helena and is well placed! The room was nicely laid out, with all the amenities of a luxury hotel. The bed/pillows were okay, but not as comfortable as we'd like and the floors/walls are a bit thin - allowing too much noise - but we are seniors, who like it quiet.

What a nice place to stay, we requested a pool side room since we were taking our Grand Daughters on a history weekend, we enjoyed the poolside room as we all could swim & be back in the room in about 10 steps. Being right off the pool we thought it might be noisy, but it was fairly quiet. The breakfast was very good & all the hotel staff was very friendly, we will definitely stay here again!

This hotel has it all and is doing everything right! The hotel common areas are clean and well appointed as well as the rooms. The beds were nice and comfy and I really love the Tarrocco bath products. Every staff member I encountered was kind and provided excellent guest service. I ate breakfast at the hotel both mornings and they had lots of great and tasty options. This was my first stay and I will stay again when I am in Helena and recommend it to others. This truly is a premier property! It has great, convenient handicap parking. Easy access to the property and a luxurious but homey feelin. The roaring fireplace in the lobby with a welcome cookie and water was so inviting. It was a bit hard to find, but we stumbled on to it. Rooms were large,great beds good fitness facility. Wish the. Tiisues were softer. Superb breakfast with amazinly friendly staff! Great stay.

Shuttle service was great. Hotel lobby was very attractive and cozy with a lovely fireplace and the front desk staff were always friendly. Hotel staff seemed sincerely nice and relaxed something that made us feel welcome. The room's layout was great, the furnishings/decor nicely updated and it felt larger than its actual dimensions. For the ladies traveling, the bathroom had ample generous countertop space to lay out makeup, etc. The bed and pillows were wonderfully comfortable. We loved the number of outlets and ports to charge and use our devices and the WiFi was very good. Breakfast was awesome! The food selection caters to both kids and adults alike and the quality is very good. Having the restaurant/ bar right there was huge plus considering the high temp one day we were there was -4F and we didn't want to leave the hotel that night. Finally, the in-room refrigerator and microwave were much appreciated. It is unusual to stay at a hotel and realize you liked everything about it. All the things we wanted to make our travel pleasant and hassle-free were already part of their routine offerings. Note, we did not use the pool so we cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel. This review may sound a bit over the top per se but this hotel earned it. It has figured out how to strike a balance of great service, decor and amenities for such a good price! My husband and I have stayed at nearly every type of hotel up to the Belmond Charleston and Waldorf Astoria and we truly enjoyed our stay and plan to return when we travel back to Helena. I was late and in a panic as I forgot to pack a dress shirt for under my jacket. I asked the night manger if their gift shop sold shirts. No. Was there a nearby department store. No. Then she offered to loan me a staff shirt from their laundry, a light blue button up that worked perfectly. She had to help her staff find the right shirts and brought up several sizes for me. This saved my night. Very Grateful.

My family and I have been to a lot of hotels and Best Western Premier in Helena, Montana is one of the best. We stayed here during the winter break road trip and it was such an awesome refuge after a long and snowy drive from Arizona to Canada. BTW the pool is very good and water was warm.

I could LIVE here. From the minute you walk in, you know its Top Notch. Beautiful, warm decor, fireplace and comfy leather couches and chairs in lobby. The rooms are so luxurious with super large bathroom, extra sink outside of bath, fabulous beds with nice linens and great looking furniture. Big TV. Quiet. Just plain AWESOME. The breakfast is very good with some extra goodies not found at most. You even get REAL plates and silverware and glasses !!! Felt like breakfast at a cute cafe. We stayed in an Off Season time and our rates were way less than we expected.... Not sure what the price is for ON season...... but for us, it was a pleasant surprise to get this quality of a room for the price. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Not having visited them all, I can't vouch for that, but I can say that I will definitely stay here again. This hotel was quiet, classy, and holds a lot of interesting history. The food and drinks in the restaurant were really good, as was the breakfast buffet. Our room was very comfortable and clean, and the hotel staff were friendly and professional. Very nice place!

We travel to Nevada on a regular basis and being from Calgary a stop in Montana is usually required to break up the trip. We were only here for one night but really enjoyed staying downtown instead of the usual choice of near the 1-15. The hotel has a lot of character and the staff was great.

We stayed at the Best Western Premier Great Northern for my birthday weekend. The hotel is so beautiful and comfortable. We had a great walkout patio room to accommodate our dog, which worked out perfectly with stairs right out our door up to the walking plaza level. The staff that greets you when you check-in couldn't be more friendly! Our room was gorgeous! The morning breakfast was delicious, with a choice of quiche with meat or veggie, homemade breakfast potatoes, fresh baked pumpkin bread, a wonderful assortment of great coffee, and more. The woman in the breakfast dining area was cheerful and helpful. You honestly feel like you are staying with friends! The fall colors around the hotel and downtown were in full autumn glory, and we walked to parks, restaurants, breweries, coffee, ice cream, and more. This is the perfect location. We will stay at this hotel again on an overnight visit to Helena.

We intended to stay only one night at the Great Northern but due to bad weather we stayed for two and we were glad we did. We chose this hotel because we wanted to be downtown and within walking distance to restaurants. As it turned out we dined both nights in the restaurant attached to the hotel and it was wonderful. There is really not one negative thing I can say about this Best Western. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are decorated tastefully and are very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.....thank you Gordon and Jacob for giving us suggestions on where to go to listen to live music. The breakfast provided was very good and was constantly being replenished. All in all it was a wonderful stay and we would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Helena.

I had heard this was an amazing place to stay from co-workers but never was able to get a room here until this trip - and now I will not stay anywhere in Helena! It was centrally located so it was a great base for sightseeing in town.The lobby was very nicely decorated. The room was very comfortable, and I had my best sleep in a week! And breakfast far exceeded expectations.

The Best Western Premier Helena Great Northern Hotel is a very nice looking place. The room featured a fridge, microwave, HD TV, free Wi-Fi and an in-room safe. The complimentary breakfast set you up for the day with a good selection which was a bit different from the norm – egg & cheese pot pie, ham, potatoes, cereal, waffles, bread and fruit. The Silver Star Steak Company adjacent to the hotel provided good evening dining.

I would recommend staying here. It was easy to get to, within walking distance of food and entertainment, quiet and warm. The rooms are updated and modern. The bathroom was large and there was an extra sink outside the bathroom. There was a desk, which came in handy for catching up on my computer work. There is a refrigerator, a coffee machine, TV, and free WiFi. My only issues were small. There were some areas that hadn't been dusted in a while (if ever). Ordinarily I would not have noticed them, but somehow, I had a viewpoint that most housekeepers would not have, as they don't spend time sitting around the room. The coffee machine did not work. I did inform the hotel of some of the issues in the room, as they graciously agreed to correct them. I know that everything can not be perfect, as long as the management agrees to correct problems, that is all I ask. I would definitely stay there again.

Two friends and I stayed at this hotel on our way to Yellowstone National Park. The room was comfortably large with plenty of room for two queen beds and all our luggage. The staff we encountered, especially Johnny at the desk, were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well kept. The location was perfect for walking around the shopping area, with several restaurants within easy walking distance. The included breakfast was good, with many choices. I would definitely stay here again if every in the area.

Our family of four spent a night at this property while traveling through MT. It was the perfect stop, with top-notch service from the front desk, and an easy check-in process. Cookies were a bonus! Parking was easy, and the neighborhood was lovely. We enjoyed walking around and exploring a bit of the area before heading to the adjacent restaurant/lounge for a local meal. It was delicious and the service (and other guests) were all extremely friendly. This really was a relaxing night at a lovely hotel.

I was truly impressed by the Great Northern Hotel. I am a retired airline pilot and have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world, and I think this was my best experience of any hotel that I have stayed in. The staff is welcoming and friendly, the property is upgraded to the latest state of the art standards, the free breakfast is cruise ship quality, the location is in the most desirable downtown area yet the rooms are quiet. Parking is free and monitored by security. The price is a bargain for this level of service. I will stay here again when I go back to Helena.

The front desk, housekeeping and breakfast staff were all super friendly, really made us feel welcome. Our room was spacious and bright, with lights in every corner, and the armchair was comfortable. We gave it a 4* instead of a 5* because the sink drained very slowly and the beds were too soft for our liking. Other than these minor issues, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel recently for a business meeting. The room was a really nice size and had a refrigerator and microwave. The hotel has a free airport shuttle and free breakfast. The breakfast has a nice selection of a few hot items and the usual continental breakfast type items. The hotel is just a short walk (about 10-15 minutes) from downtown and their historic Last Chance Gulch walking mall. The only complaint I really have is regarding the mattress but I think many hotels have the same problem. I slept on the side closest to the bed stand and the mattress was kind of sunken in on that side.

From check-in to checkout, this hotel was wonderful! They had everything ready for my group when we arrived. We received our keys as soon as we walked in the door, they gave each of us fresh cookies, and they quickly delivered our luggage to our rooms. We stayed there for two nights and everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. Room service was great. Laundry facilities were great. They helped individuals in the group with directions, suggestions, transportation . . . and always with a smile and sense of humor. The hotel itself was well decorated with a fire in the fireplace, books nearby to curl up and read, computer area . . . I have nothing but praise for this hotel!!!

you cannot beat the convenience and quality of the BW Great Northern when taking you child to Carroll in Helena. Great place to access both campus and the gulch! Dining room was good - food and service. Clean, neat - will stay here again.

I enjoy staying at this hotel when I am in town visiting my daughter who attends Carroll College. The college is just across the street so easy to get to. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. They recently remodeled the rooms and they look great, not that it wasn't nice before. Just a new fresh look to it.

After you hand the Valet your keys (probably the only hotel with a valet in Billings, you walk past the wonderful gift shop into the stunning lobby- gorgeous flowers and a gas fireplace that must be 20' wide! you get a glimpse of their beautiful bar, friendly knowledgeable bartenders, great cocktails, atmosphere. Wonderful restaurant. The rooms are great and they will upgrade you to a suite if you belong to their travel club.

Nicely decorated rooms, very comfortable bed, very clean. Our room was very quiet even though we were next to the elevator. Staff was personable and efficient. Free breakfast was quite a bit better quality and variety than most. Convenient location with restaurants, pedestrian zone and sightseeing within walking distance of a mile or so. We wish our plans had allowed us to extend our stay at this hotel.

For what you pay it is worth the stay, out of all the best westerns I've stayed at this one was the nicest. The beds were very comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. The staff helpful. I would stay there again. A real lifesaver was that their airport shuttle operates 24/7. I thought the Helena airport would have taxi service, but no, not late on a Sunday night. And something in the terminal blocked my phone from reaching Uber. Thankfully the hotel sent a shuttle. Grateful and find memories.

I booked this hotel for my elderly parents when they came to visit us in Helena. My father requires a handicapped accessible room, but my mother, who cannot sleep in the same room as his C-Pac machine, does not. This was the only hotel I found in Helena that had a handicapped room that adjoined a non-handicapped room. The set up was perfect for them. The rooms were each HUGE and functioned well. The front desk staff including, (but not limited to) Sarah, Suzanne, Gordon, and Mari were wonderfully patient and helpful. There was a slight challenge with my father's oxygen tank and the amazing hotel engineer know how to fix it right away. The location of the hotel made it easy for my mother to "explore" the few flat blocks around the hotel. She discovered the Carousel/ice cream, the excellent crepes place, and the Bike Helena sculpture near the movie theater. (Full disclosure -- that project was initiated and guided to completion by her grandson when he was with the Helena Tourism Alliance/ Bike Helena). Exploration Works children's science museum and an interprative walk about Lewis and Clark are also right by the hotel complex -- all are flat ground, no steps involved. The hotel breakfast was excellent. When my family has stayed at other Best Westerns we realize that we have been spoiled by the GREAT breakfasts at the Great Northern. Although we did not eat there on this trip, the attached Silver Star restaurant is the best and most consistent restaurant attached to a hotel in Helena. Another good casual restaurant, The Brewhouse, is a short walk away, but might be more problematic for handicapped access. For the able bodied, it is a short walk from the hotel to the Farmer's Market on Saturdays, (which is dog friendly), and the stores and restaurants on Last Chance Gulch.

The air conditioner / heater worked efficiently, did so quietly, and produced heat (as well as air conditioning) even in July (which I wanted during the cool Montana nights). The bed was medium firmness, slightly on the firm side of medium. The staff was endlessly and promptly helpful. The steak house next to the hotel serves excellent steak. By car, you can get from one part of Helena to any other part in ten or fifteen minutes. With just one exception, my room was perfectly quiet, with no noise from either inside or outside the hotel. At first I had a neighbor who kept playing his TV too loudly, but the hotel staff solved that problem as soon as I reported it. Many thanks to John, Nicholas, Suzanna, Rachel and Shawna at the front desk, and to Dan the engineer.

Stayed here one night after a business meeting. The hotel is in a good location for walking to various restaurants and sights. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Easy parking on both sides of the hotel. The price was reasonable. We would definitely return if in Helena again.

We stopped in and stayed the night after spending 6 days rafting on the Smith River. The shower and bed were wonderful. Our waiter at the attached steakhouse was fantastic. We had 17 people in our group and he took excellent care of us. The food was also excellent!! Highly recommended

This place is great! Our room opened right onto the pool which was awesome for our kids. The location in Helena couldn't be better- close to restaurants and attractions. Room is very clean and comfortable- would definitely stay here again !

I haven't had the opportunity to stay in many Best Westerns of late, and really didn't know what to expect when I booked this hotel. You can't go wrong staying at this hotel. It isn't the fanciest hotel, but the rooms are modern, large, very clean with everything you need. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They had good suggestions on local restaurants and sites. They also helped with a couple of special requests during our stay. The hotel has a nice pool and work out room. Also a very nice feature was the full sized washer and dryer, which came in handy after exploring the local area. I give it five stars not because it is a luxury resort, but because it exceeds expectations for a very comfortable stay.

The hotel is located in a quiet part of town and is within walking distance of food options, the college, etc. It was great to open my window while I worked in the evening and just hear the breeze blow - nothing else. The restaurant attached to the hotel that provides room service is probably the best in town - very good. The room, and entire hotel, was very clean. Service was great.

The staff are very friendly, responsive, and helpful. Comfortable rooms with all the amenities, and one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. The complimentary breakfast was very good with a variety of hot and cold items to choose from. I eat a gluten-free diet and I found more than enough options to accommodate my needs. Nice location to downtown, Carroll College, and the surrounding area. If you are headed to Helena, this is a great place to stay!

I recently stayed at the Gret Northern, when I come to Helena on business I always stay at this hotel, the people are great, the rooms are nice and comfortable and is centrally located. If you do not want to drive anywhere for dinner or drinks, there is a great steakhouse and bar connected to the hotel or just a short walk to the Brew Pub where many of the locals hangout and everyone treats you like family there. If you are going to Helena, I highly recommend you stay at the Great Northern Hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Great Hotel with great customer service. Convenient location to see Helena. The people were great, and customer service was outstanding, from check-in/Check-out to breakfast. Rooms were very nice and clean.

We recently stayed for a weekend and had a great overall stay. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean, the complimentary breakfast and breakfast staff were very nice, the rooms were clean and beds extremely comfortable. The rooms were also very quiet with respect to the halls and floors above. With the hotel downtown, it is easy to get to restaurants and trails.

We had a wonderful one night stay here, the hotel was beautifuly decorated, the room was large and elegantly decorated, beds comfortable & everywhere spotless. Gordon and Shauna on reception were so helpful, and helped us with some where to go for an evening meal. There is a good selection of places to eat within walking distances, so if you wish to have a drink no need to drive! We had a lovely breakfast the following morning in a bright welcoming breakfast room, which set us up for the next leg of our road trip.

I loved my stay here in Helena. After travelling Italy and New York with such small hotel rooms I found my room a great size and very comfortable. What I really loved was I could do my washing downstairs for a minimal cost which is cost saving when travelling. Staff were always happy and helpful.

This is a really, really nice hotel. It has been tastefully decorated, the rooms are comfortable, clean and stylish, and the staff is outstanding. The Montana-shaped sugar cookies at the front desk are an added bonus! The breakfast room is clean and spacious and the breakfast ladies are all very, very nice. The hotel is in a great location with many local attractions close by. Two minor items: my bed had a divot in the middle of it, so I was constantly rolling into it, and the bathrooms have no ventilation fans, which means I had to shower with the door open so that the steam would dissipate enough for me to dry my hair. Other than that, no complaints!

One of the few hotels with which I would not change anything! The location was perfect and within walking distance of good restaurants and shops. Loved the layout, the decor, the amenities, but most of all the friendly staff and welcoming city.

Expect long walks to your room and to HC parking. HC room at the END of the hall farthest from lobby, breakfast and Front desk. Rooms OK, TV system sucked, remote with no guide and no HC/hearing impaired option.

We had a convention here. The staff seemed to try and go out of their way to get things right. Were things perfect? Of course not! The breakfast that was included was good. The crepery is right around the corner, however, and has great reviews of hotel breakfast is not what you are looking for. The rooms were clean and spacious with a refrigerator, comfy chair, and safe for your valuables.

The cost were high for the amenities. Same as the hotels at half the cost. Cleaned the occupied rooms last. Did not like that. Breakfast was the same as a less expensive Best Western. They could at least have the same service as an Embassy for the cost.

We arrived late after a long road trip. The restaurant has closed and guests were being redirected to the bar. We made a request to eat in the restaurant as there was more space for wheelchair access. The manager was very accommodating. Food was fantastic! The rooms were very large. Comfortable beds, blackout curtains and nice toiletry products. The selection at breakfast was great with a lot of variety. Would stay there again!

I had booked this hotel at the last minute and I was blown away by every aspect of this visit. My wife and I were heading back home to Denver from Calgary and I had checked on Best Westerns in Montana. I called this hotel and I got an unbeatable rate. I'm a Diamond Select member with Best Western and the staff treated my wife and I like king and queen. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is in close proximity of a lot of restaurants and stores. It's located in the heart of the capital city. It's about 10 minutes from I-15. And the atmosphere makes you feel like you're right at home. I will definitely return again and again.

We could not have had a more convenient and "warm" atmosphere in the midst of blizzards in April. The Customer Service was excellent throughout our stay including the meeting accommodations and service. The breakfast each day is outstanding and the adjoining restaurant a nice bonus for a quiet dinner.

Great place overall. Check-in was very easy, staff was great. LOVED the fitness center! We ate at the Crepery next door, very yummy. The room was very comfortable, although sounds from above were amplified more than I'd like (footsteps). Couldn't hear anything through the walls, though, so that was great! Internet was nice and fast. Close to a great restaurant, too (good steaks)!

Arrived without reservation, Shane at the front desk was great, found us a room at on the second level with a view of the front square. The room was excellent with great queen beds and seating area. Fabulous reception area and bedrooms are large and pristine. Staff very very helpful. breakfast included omelettes potatoes yoghurt fruit pastries etc. Most importantly hotel is situated in exquisite Great Northern area of town with lovely little pedestrian walkways around gorgeous gardens with waterfall sculptures and instruments like tubular bells and a keyboard you can play. For children there is a beautifully done carousel with ice cream bar next door.

Here on business trip and this was recommended by a local. Great call! Walking distance to at least four different restaurants, a brew house, and a distillery. This time of year the streets have been impacted by the ‘chinooks' and ice and melting ice is all over; thankfully they keep the sidewalks pretty clear;)!

The Great Northern Best Western is my favorite Helena hotel. Lovely accommodations, very nice breakfast, and exceptional staff throughout. The hotel is within walking distance of Carroll College plus many offices. I travel to Helena somewhat frequently on business and always cross my fingers they will be able to accommodate my need for a room at the government rate. In my experience, the front desk staff goes out of their way to fit me in. I love this place.

This hotel has spacious, well appointed rooms. The free breakfast is great. The location is good for walking to restaurants. It's across a busy road from Carroll College. There's a steak house and bar attached.

We were driving in northern Montana in severe winter conditions on November 05,2017. We were watching the roadside bill boards for the location of the Best Western Hotel,as we were intending on staying there to build up our loyalty point. Our cell phone was nearly dead so we called the BW for directions. The operator could not tell the exit number to take and had great difficulty giving us any landmarks to guide, so we took the wrong exit, to this day we are still not sure tho! After searching for twenty minutes or so we gave up and called the BW again. As we were trying to tell the person who answered the phone our situation she put us on hold. After waiting almost 5 minutes we hung up and called back. As not only were we in unfamiliar territory, in very cold weather and icy road conditions, the cell phone was now only moments from dying and our cell pone battery charger quite working as well! Again I asked the same person not to put us on hold, as I vainly tried to keep her from putting us on hold but she did anyway! That did it, we started looking for another hotel!

Thank you Wayne for providing this information to us. It sounds like you called Best Western reservations? It is a bit confusing as to if you called us directly. I do apologize that whomever you were speaking to was not able to assist you on a more timely basis and get you on the right track to our location. I understand how frustrating that can be. As you can see from our other reviews, this is not a common occurrence that we have experienced. Exit 192 is our easiest exit and comes right down on Last Chance Gulch which we are 2 blocks off of. I do hope you will consider coming to Helena on a future visit. We trust that our fellow hotels were able to provide a comfortable room for you that evening.

I enjoyed my stay at the Great Northen Hotel. When I made my reservation, the person I talked to told me about the BWP membership that would drop my room rate by $16. She took care of the information for me so that when I showed up my membership would be at the front desk. The front desk staff were all very nice. There was even freshly made cookies that just came out of the oven when I checked in. I love the location of this hotel as it is close to the college, restraunts, coffee shops, theater, etc. My room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I liked the express checkout too. the next time I come to Helena, this is the place I plan on staying again.

Stayed in Helena and would recommend this hotel to anyone. I spend most of my nights when traveling (work or pleasure) at Starwood hotels. Helena, MT doesn't have one, so chose this place. It's in a convenient place where you can walk around the town, enjoy great restaurants and really experience Billings

The staff and facility are excellent. The newly remodeled rooms on the third floor are well done and esthetically pleasing. Its nice being within walking distance of things to do in between meetings. The breakfast is always great, but the baked French toast was awesome! Marti and her crew never fail to provide great accommodations.

Great hotel and staff, we were here for a wedding and the staff was very helpful to the parents and the wedding party. They either had a solution or a suggestion for any problem that we presented to them. We were all very satisfied with our stay.

3rd floor rooms are nicely remodeled & roomy. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Service was great. Interesting location with many attractions nearby. A great place to stay. Glad we had GPS. A bit tricky to get into.

.The check in staff was very friendly and helpful. The gal working the breakfast area, when asked if there were anymore of a certain idea, acted as though she didn't want to be bothered. Otherwise, the rest of the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend.

Welcoming and helpful staff. The room was one of the best I've stayed in, in Montana. Loved the location, fun for all. There's a movie theater, carousel, dinning, and other options all in walking distance. Continental breakfast was also one of the better ones. Marked gluten free options, fresh cut fruit, hot options. Would recommend this property.

Staff was helpful with our arrival plans changing. Easy to unload, load, find parking and receive any help with any need, no matter how small. We could enjoy the center of the city with many lively, tasty, local color, affordable dining choices in walking distance. Lively streets after dark. Beautifully nurtured downtown, lots of young people all around. We traveled with teens and they loved the area. The hotel was spotless, the staff on the spot for anything. Comfortable privacy or interaction as requested. Our room was huge, clean, comfortable and quiet. All of this at a Best Western price. Made us want to visit Helena again soon.

Didn't get to book a reservation but still was treated as if we had. Beautiful hotel! Wish we had known about the rooms backed up to the swimming pool. If you have kids ask for one! Room was huge! Very nice, and very clean! Same as the rest of the hotel. Love the location as there is many nice places to eat and we went to see a movie at the theater that is only one block away! Breakfast was really good and the staff was right there for anything you might need. Best of all the front desk staff was wonderful. Can't wait to visit here again!

absolutely adored this hotel. fabulous reception area with extremely helpful staff. big clean rooms with comfy beds. extremely good breakfast. quietly located yet walk out into pedestrianised area with the most beautiful carousel and mini park with gorgeous fountains and ice cream parlour. restaurants a few minute walk.

The Great Northern Hotel is a comfortable, elegant hotel. We had a king room - it was large and beautifully appointed in the traditional style that befits a 'railway' hotel. The breakfast was excellent with in-house fresh fruit compote, egg dishes and baked goods. The staff was very helpful with all our questions. We would definitely stay again.

Very pleasant rooms, good service at front desk on check in. Room was large and nicely laid out. Bed was comfortable. This hotel is great for any stay, business and leisure. Breakfast was plentiful and food was good for a hotel breakfast.

Great location for Carroll College events. The hotel was extremely clean and esthetically pleasing. The room was spacious with several amenities not found in other hotels. Lots of counter space with a sink outside the bathroom which was wonderful when the bathroom was occupied. Will stay here again.

A bit off the beaten path (as in not off the highway....which is a good thing!) but very much worth the short drive into the downtown area. The hotel was under renovation (third floor I believe) but very much open for business and we had a very quiet and very clean room and you wouldn't know there was any construction going on! Loved the included breakfast! Great variety! Within walking distance of some great restaurants. Definetly recommend the BW Helena Great Northern Hotel and would absolutely stay here again! PS: Hotel ratings on the TA survey didn't seem to want to cooperate however I would give 5 stars for Service / Sleep Quality / Value
