"Mostly Okay but Not There Yet"

Overall the place was okay, the room was large and the bed comfortable. The room overall was clean, but, they didn't take care to do a good job vacuuming. While walking around the room I got a bobby pin that had been mangled by the vacuum and stuck in the carpet jabbed in my foot. My husband went to the front desk and informed them of the incident and to get some first aid -- was offered a cheap band-aid and that was pretty much it. The bobby pin went into my foot about 1/4 of an inch and left a pretty good size puncture wound. My husband ended up going to the local pharmacy to get some Neosporin and some better band-aids to fix my foot. Was not pleased with the way it was handled.

Stayed here on our way back from Colorado. What a refreshing stay after a not so nice experience at the Fairfield inn in Hays on the way through to Colorado. Room was very spacious, clean, comfy beds. Nice hot breakfast included in the price and friendly staff. We will stay here again next time! My grandpa always said you can't beat a Best Western, he was right, as usual!!

"Mostly right"

Very clean room, A/C worked great. These are the basics that will keep my crabbiness down when it comes to hotels. Breakfast was above average for hotels of this grade. Really pretty good actually! There were a few small negatives that need pointed out though... Elevator was out of service. We were on the third floor so this was kind of inconvenient, but these things happen, we figured it was just bad timing-I assume this isn't typical. Vending machines were also out of order.WiFi was pretty terrible. Tissue box was left with only a couple of tissues in it-kind of nitpicky, but it's the little things that count sometimes and we did book this hotel because it was the highest rated in Hays on TripAdvisor, and for a BW, it wasn't inexpensive. It wasn't a bad stay, but not really worth the money.

I was snowed in here for 2 days back in April on my way back home to Colorado after a Dr. appt. in KC. Luckily, there was an IHOP directly behind the hotel, and an Applebee's down the road, so I ate quickly at the IHOP before the storm hit, and went to Applebee's for take-out for the next day, and kept it in my room fridge. Also, the hotel has a pantry, and I could get drinks. I couldn't leave the hotel at all the next day, and finally was able to head home the 3rd day after I-70 was re-opened. The desk staff, Sierra & Rosie, were AWESOME in checking on me, and giving me assistance. The room was VERY clean & nice, EXCEPT, the lamps needed better light bulbs, the room lightning was horrible!! They use those energy-saving curved bulbs, and they are NOT enough if you want to read or work, so take regular bulbs with you!! Luckily, I had taken a book light. Also, ask for a room without a WEIRD shower, I had an upgrade, but the shower wasn't one I was familiar with, looked like a surfboard mounted on a wall. Ha! But again, the stay was nice, facility was clean & a Walmart just down the road too. NOTE: If you go South under I-70, there are tons more eating places to choose from! I would stay here again!! Hays is a college town.

We were on our way home to Denver from the Cincinnati area. We stayed in four hotel chains - Hilton, Staybridge, Hyatt, and this, Best Western Plus Butterfield Inn. You may be skeptical, but the Best Western was the best of the bunch. Hyatt and Hilton had rooms that were expwnsive, cramped, and lacking amenities. The Staybridge hotel was the worst of the bunch. This Best Western provided us with comfortable surroundings and a great night's sleep. The buffet breakfast was good and had all the staples, plus the "make your own" waffles. Parking was free, as opposed to $18-25, which we paid at the other establishments on our route. I would definitely return to this hotel and use the Best Western rewards program for even greater savings.

Our stay here was great! After getting a late stay in leaving, we arrived pretty late...the front desk was great and overall great stay. The only complaint I have is it would be great to have breakfast served a little later than 9. This is our new stop when driving thru Kansas.

Service was fast and friendly. All hotel staff was polite. Would definitely stay here again. As a matter of fact I would definitely stay in any Best Western for now. You get your money's worth here. Next time hope to take advantage of pool.

wonderful staff made us feel at home , the room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly. i would not stay anywhere else while away from home . the wieght room is spot on as well as the pool and hot tub .

"Luxurious after a windy, dry, hot few days"

Clean, huge room, quiet, great shower, excellent continental breakfast. We only stayed one night but it was a luxurious haven after the previous couple nights in a bad place. The breakfast had pretty much everything, you name it! Okay, no crepes, but pretty much everything else!

This hotel was great! The room was clean and nice. The size of the room was awesome! Full breakfast items, many choices from pancakes to yogurt, was very impressed with breakfast choices. The pool looked inviting but I forgot my suit! Very nice hotel and conveniently located next to the interstate.

"Hayes Kansas"

The facility was nice and clean and the parking lot was well let which is nice. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was bigger than expected, and the beds and pillows were soft and comfy. Due to the time of our arrival we were unable to utilize the gym or pool, and we slept past the breakfast cutoff time of 9am(?). Although we missed breakfast, the young lady working that morning did allow my wife to grab a couple bagels for the road even though the kitchen was closed. Working in Texas I am staying in a Best Western Plus and they close breakfast at 1030am and you can still get something if you want while they are cleaning up. It's hard not to judge other facilities against the one I have stayed at for almost 3 months now.

"Nice place to stay"

We stayed there during state basketball. The room was a King room and was nice and big. We really liked having two chairs instead of just one. It was fairly quiet which was impressive considering we were staying on the same floor as one of the basketball teams.

"Room nice , common areas dirty"

Our room was very nice and clean as was the lobby. But entering the elevator the whole thing changed. It was dirty as was the pool area , the hallways and stairways . Cereal littered the hallways and small pieces of trash. The hot tub looked dirty and there was a used bandage on the pool deck. This was the nite we arrived so I gave them benefit of the doubt but checked before we left and all was the same. Yet our room was very nice and clean . Breakfast was the usual , edible but nothing to brag about .

I've stayed here a couple of times now, and it might be my new favorite hotel in Hays. People are great, hotel is very clean, rooms are nice. Everything you would expect, and a good breakfast. Close to a lot of chain restaurants that are now opening in this part of town.

"Best for a Reason…."

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a brief stop in Hays on our trip to Denver. The hotel was easy to access from the interstate, had ample parking, well-lit and very clean. The check-in process was really quick and it is close to a few places to eat. All in all, a great little spot at a great rate! Thanks Best Western Plus.

Bed was comfortable, rooms need updated, staff was nice. Dirty hallways and elevator looks like hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Water pressure great but can't get the slime off after showering weird.

"All the perks but lousy pillows"

We didn't need a thing--except better pillows. We both had neck aches. Also, they placed us across from the pool and the ice machine! If time, we'd have complained and asked for different rooms and pillows. But other than that, all they provided was impressive. Staff, though, was not particularly friendly.

"Warm and friendly"

When traveling cross country during the winter, I like a warm and friendly place to stay for the night. This hotel offered both along with a great hot breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

"Nice Beds!"

The was a short stay on Christmas eve so we could get back on the road. But the bed was very comfortable and the size of the room was great. We didn't get to try the breakfast cause we left early. Just wished it wasn't so cold.

"Disappointed"

Trying to make a reservation by phone no one answered the phone, so I called an 800 number for best western. Upon arriving late in the day, I tried twice to get into our room and both times returned to front desk. After two attempts was given a new room. The second floor smelt terrible, but the room didn't smell too bad. I had requested a pack n play or crib for our one year old but they said they were all broken and had ordered new ones. There was enough toilet paper for me to use the restroom twice, but not enough for anyone else. There was no spare roll of toilet paper. The breakfast was horrible. The eggs tasted like they were cooked for 30 minutes too long. And the biscuits were very hard I couldn't cut them with a knife. I was very dissatisfied for the price. The trash cans were overflowing with trash. The women's restroom by lobby ran out of toilet paper, and instead of replacing it, the front desk put an "out of order" sign on it.

"Family reunion 2017"

Family reunion 2017 was held at Hayes Kansas and the host hotel was the BW. We had an initial problem with the TV in the guest conference room Friday night however, the reception staff came to our rescue and quickly let us use the breakfast room for the video portion of the evening. We certainly appreciate Brittany and the staff coming to our rescue .

"Great I-70 stopover."

Great hotel in the middle of the prairie. Nice town with great dining ( check out Gella's) and anything one could need/want on a road trip. This Best Western was very clean , quiet with large rooms. Everything appears new. Very good breakfast and s very nice indoor pool. Family friendly hotel. Our new stopover enroute from Springfield, MO to Denver , CO. So glad we found this.

We have a King room. Huge! Very clean! The shower has adjustments to suit your type of comfortableness. Sitting area with 2 chairs. Will definitely stay here again if we are back this way. For me, it is worth the extra $$ to feel clean & relaxed.

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel. It is clean, comfortable, has friendly staff, a very good hot/cold breakfast that includes gluten-free items, and EXCELLENT bathroom lighting. I have stayed in more expensive hotels with lousy bathroom lighting, so I appreciate that most BW's have good bathroom lighting. The decor in our room is a bit dated but certainly not ugly or distracting, and I would stay again.

The hotel was everything you could want in an over night stay. If you plan to eat eggs for breakfast, make other plans...as the eggs were like rubber and the sausage was cold and not browned. Microwave helped but if you plan to eat eggs make other plans at least for now. The staff is friendly and informative.

While driving from St.Louis to Denver my wife and I decided to take a break and stop half way. Without many choices we settled on the Best Western in Hays, Kansas. What a treat to find a neat, clean, recently renovated hotel with a friendly staff. The beds were comfy and it has a nice quiet location. Being a college town there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants in the quaint downtown area. Breakfast included was the usual fair but the service in the snack area was typical Midwestern great.

The bathroom was not accessible. The tub was slippery, one of the grab bars was loose and the shower head leaked so badly it sprayed water all over the tile floor making it a slipping hazard. When I contacted front desk for some assistance with the shower never received a response. Did not ask to change rooms as we had already settled in, gone out for a meal and to change would have been very disruptive when we were already tired from the day of traveling.

"Overnight to Denver"

Nice large room. 2 chairs in 1 King room. Refrigerator and microwave. Friendly staff. Indoor pool and fitness area looked nice. Inside interiors and elevator. Hotel is not an easy on/off the interstate. Will need to make u-turns, not too difficult.

Loved this motel. Really big room. Nice chairs in the room. Plenty of lights. Nice pillows. Nice shower and big bathroom. Very nice breakfast. The front desk was really nice and helpful. Would stay here again if in the area.

The BW Plus Butterfield Inn is a wonderful hotel: clean, comfortable and well-located for a quick on and off I-70. The staff at the from the front desk, housekeeping and the dining room are so personable and ready to help. We would highly recommend this hotel for couples, family or business.

The hotel location is very convenient and the staff is great. There are restaurants and shopping all within walking distance of this property. The breakfast was average, however we didn't get down there until it was almost over. It might be better if you get there earlier. Overall not a bad place to stay.

We have found the Best Western hotels to be uniformly clean and quiet, the rooms larger than at other hotels and usually the breakfasts the best. The food is always good and usually hot. The staff is always cheerful, helpful and welcoming and the rates are reasonable

Our room was a spacious king bed room with two easy chairs. It was furnished and decorated attractively. Very clean. The full length closet door was nice to have available. Heating and cooling was on a thermostat and worked well. It was equipped with everything one might need. The only improvement needed was a brighter light bulb in the floor lamp for reading.

Stayed one night rather than drive back to Missouri and get home very late. A little pricey compared to other Best Westerns (especially in a small town) but our room was spotless, front desk attendant was very helpful and overall a good experience.

Clean hotel friendly staff and great location! Comfy beds slept like a baby, as well as quiet location. Pool was refreshing, hot tub as relaxing. Breakfast was awesome! Hotel was full and it didn't seem like it!

"Nice place to stay"

It was a better place than I expected, with indoor hot tube. The only problem was the breakfast presentation, which had eggs in an unusual form. The eggs were in a round format with the yoke in the center that looked more like a slice of egg role.

We spent the night on the back end of a week-long trip. We needed an affordable but comfortable rest. We found 2 possible choices in Hays, Kansas & Best Western was the 1st call. In the past, we've often found the accommodations less that the posted pictures & info indicated in their on line profiles. This was every bit what was represented. Ans we'd definitely stay there again!

We arrived at the hotel at night, tired from the trip so put the heat on and went to sleep. We woke up freezing, the room had no heat at all. We had to use the bathroom hair dryer to warm up. We got dressed and went downstairs to keep warm and tell the hotel clerk. She said she had a maintenance person go check the heater and when he confirmed to her the heater was not working, she called the hotel owner. The hotel is privately owned and the owner's instruction to the very polite clerk was to give us $25 off the $100 bill and a certificate for $25 for a future stay at the hotel. I explained that I could not use the certificate so it was worthless to me but the owner had told the clerk that was all she was willing to do. Ridiculous ! I would never stay at this hotel again and it will be a very looong time, if at all, before I stay at another Best Western.

I like to find the unexplored best value in Motels & Inns. This is one of the best places I have stayed at for over 4 years. Rooms were clean and extra large with nice TV and TV Guide. I love to end the day with a dip in the Hot Tub and the B.W. has a nice one inside so you could set in it and look out the windows at snow coming down. If there was a down side it would be with the free breakfast included, it was tasty but presentation was UN-exciting. Overall it was a very good place to stay, very near the interstate with check-in and check-out very quick.

Very clean and roomy. Loved the large bathroom and counter space. No complaints at all. Stayed on a Thursday night which was $20 higher than return trip on Sunday. Breakfast was also good.Highly recommend.

We stayed in this motel 2 years ago to the day and came back because it was nice then. This time we stayed in the same type of room which was clean and nicely furnished but major issues. First two of the lamps had switches that had dropped below the top which could have been a fire issue. Second issue was the shower on which the hose was leaking and obviously sprayed out past the curtain. The cleaning person should have seen these issues and had them taken care of. Third was the one mattress was collapsed on the one side to the point that the straight side edge bulged out several inches and was very uncomfortable. When I approached the manager she had a no care attitude! The breakfast was anything but good.. The eggs were cold and tasted like rubber and the potatoes which just came fro the kitchen were cold. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE WE STAYED AT IN YEARS!!!

We stayed overnight on our way to CO. The hotel was acceptable, but nothing to rave about. The beds were comfortable and staff were helpful, but the rooms seemed a little worn and outdated. However, it's worth mentioning that we got the last two rooms available, so there may be other rooms that are in better condition. One of the rooms had a minor issue with the lock, but the hotel staff were upfront about it before we rented, and compensated for us by providing a good discount. The other room's shower head wouldn't turn on. We didn't have time in the morning to report it and wait for maintenance to fix it, so we just took baths. The breakfast had a decent selection, but the food quality wasn't as nearly as good as some other hotels. Overall, it's an acceptable place to spend the night and get some rest.

Rooms overall were very nice! Ours was missing a alarm clock didn't report it due to already complained about their hot tub being broke they did accommodate us a little for being broke! But one of the reasons we stayed there! Otherwise would recommend to anyone!

The beds were very clean and comfortable, overall the whole room was pretty clean. I gave 4 stars because both of my kids fell in the tub with me right there, where the tub slants should probably have a non-skid surface. The chair and ottoman were very stained as well but really didn't care since we just wanted a clean place to rest our heads. Nonetheless, we will definitely be back!

We had a king room that was very roomy and comfortable. It looked as if it had recently been updated - very attractive. The lighting was excellent - nice and bright (which is important for me to be able to see). Easy to get to from the freeway. Breakfast was a little better than typical. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. My only wish is that the sink was outside the shower and toilet area - makes it easier for 2 people to get ready, but I wouldn't reduce the rating for that.

This BW is a Premier level hotel. The lobby area was clean and neat. The front desk personnel were dressed professionally. The room decor is typical of a BW-nothing spectacular, but it was clean and nice. This hotel is in a great area that has a new strip mall directly north of it. The only downfall is there is no way to enter if you are driving from the north. A person has to either turn a block before, or go past the underpass and find a way to turn around to go back north.

We spent one night here while going west. The hotel is right by I-70 in a collection of hotels. Restaurants are nearby and good downtown restaurants aren't far away. The hotel was a little cheaper than the other chains, but was very nice. We paid about $115. The hotel itself looks practically new. But the pool and whirlpool really needed maintenance.

I had a perfectly nice 1-night stay. Check-in was quick, and my room was in line with my preferences. The room had all the amenities that I look for. Wi-fi was strong. The bathroom could've used a bit more cleaning (more than a few pieces of hair scattered about), but nothing that freaked me out. One thing that this hotel does that I wish others would take a cue from is having a thermostat with an option to have the fan run constantly. It helps tremendously with drowning out street noise and noise from other rooms. When possible, I bring along a fan when I travel in case the property doesn't have the "constant on" option on the thermostat. Glad I didn't have to use my fan here! Breakfast was just OK. That's one area where I find Best Western can sometimes lag behind other chains. And one other odd bugaboo I would note: when entering the room, if I pulled the door handle down and pushed, it felt like there was a security latch keeping the door from opening. I actually thought I had accidentally been assigned to an occupied room. I returned to the front desk and the clerk told me I needed to pull up on the handle instead of down. She was right. The door opened with no problem after that. Kind of an oddity.

Overall, great place to stay on our way home to Illinois from a Utah/Colorado Trip. Good location, great facilities. Breakfast wasn't the best though. Powdered eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. I chose the biscuits and gravy, and biscuits were cold and tasted horrible, and gravy was luke warm and pasty tasting. Ended up with a donut and a banana. Otherwise, enjoyable stay. The king size bed in our room was really comfortable!

Room included two queen beds, sitting area with two chairs, desk with chair, microwave and refrigerator. Plenty of room. Noise from the hall and ice machine down the hall reached the room easily. Shower curtain was lightly stained including dark black stain. Temperature control worked well. Complimentary breakfast included basic egg, sausage, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, bananas, oatmeal and cereal. The cereal was all wheat based. Not much to eat for a gluten free diet. Several restaurants/fast food available within walking/ short drive of hotel.

Great room, very comfortable. Staff could use training on customer service and follow through, I had to call the following Monday and request my receipt that they had said had already been emailed to me when I checked out. They were very kind, but uniforms alone don't make you work ready.

The location was close to I70 and easy to get to. The breakfast was very good, but they did not over sugar for coffee, the staff said to use honey...gross. The pool was nice but a bit to salty. Found a couple bugs in hot tub and a couple in hall way, but none in our room.

"Bugs and Rude Staff"

My daughter slipped on the bathroom floor and broke the toilet seat. When we called to report the incident and get the seat fixed no one asked if she was okay or needed medical attention.. There were bugs on all levels of the building floors dead. The hot breakfast only supports people with a specific diet and it did not have the flexibility for others to eat a hot breakfast.

Driving across the country we were looking for a place to stay in Hays. Really glad we booked early as they became sold out. Good price, nice breakfast, a little trouble with the elevator but they fixed it fast. Room was large with its own sitting area, really made it nice. A definite repeat!

Towels were like sand paper in the rooms and at the pool. The pool towels were like hand towels. The biscuits were like rocks and the gravy and eggs were cold not even warm. There was no real information regarding things to do in Hays.

"Nice motel conveniently located"

Booked on line. Arrived and had a quick checkin. Our room was very nice and reasonably quiet. The AC worked well. We used the hot tub and it was warmer than we prefer but that seems to be the standard temp these days. They were also out of pool towels but we made it work. The workout room was crowded with equipment but not with people so it works well. Breakfast was good and what you would expect including eggs and sausage. Checkout was a problem as the person at the desk was on the phone and we waited at least 15 minutes as we needed a printed copy. We were not in a rush so it was not a big deal. We would definitely go there again if we were in the area.

We stayed overnight for a family wedding. We'd never stayed at this hotel before. The location was excellent, just off the interstate with easy access. Our room was just within feet of where we could park, so taking our luggage to the room was a breeze. The staff was friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again if we need a room in this area. Would highly recommend to anyone else. No complaints whatsoever.

We stayed at the hotel because it was nearly the half way point to our destination. The hotel was nice but on the pricing side. Breakfast was included but at 7:30am we must have hit the rush almost everything was empty and only one staff member to cook, refill and clean.

Good customer service. I left my lights on overnight and the nice girl from the front desk went out of her way to help my family. An error in my reservation was exacerbated by the insensitive reservation clerk who insisted I pay for 5 rooms mistakenly booked. She said I exceeded the cancellation time of 15 minutes. No one in my party of 9 used the rooms in question. She refused to contact her manager to correct the misunderstanding. I was prepared to dispute the problem with my credit card company. It wasn't a good end to a tiring travel day. She eventually corrected the error but could have mitigated the aggravation earlier.

I usually stay at Best Westerns on my road trips. They are a quality chain of privately owned hotels that maintain a high standard. This Best Western was no exception when it came to friendly staff, a clean, quiet, comfortable room and good breakfast. Upon entering our room though, there was a slight smell of smoke. I'm not sure if this can be fixed and it wasn't overwhelming, but it was there. The wifi was very fast!

"Smoky room"

We checked in late to the Butterfield Inn. When we got to our room in was smoky smelling, especially the towels in the bathroom. We knew they were sold out, so we didn't bother asking to be moved to another room. When we checked out they offered to give us extra rewards points for the putting up with the smell. Apparently someone had smoked in the room, setting off the smoke detectors, a couple of days before. They had tried to get the smell out with an ozone machine. Other than that, the hotel was excellent.

We found the Best Western Butterfield to be an excellent choice to stay. We were really impressed with the large room and cleanliness. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful! Food was good in the morning. Would definitely stay again if pass by that way again!

This was our first night stop on a 3 day trip so we wanted something that was easy access from the highway. We had made reservations online prior to the trip and check-in was quick and easy. The room was as expected from a BW and relatively quiet. Breakfast the next morning had many hot or cold selections, and the staff kept an eye on the quantities. Over all it was a good experience and will definitely stay at again and recommend.

Everyone was very nice and went out of the way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms were very clean and are quite large. The stay included breakfast, which was better than I have seen at any Best Western or similar hotel. The food was fairly basic, but everything was well presented and fully stocked. The room price is competitive with other hotels in Hays, but this is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed at in Hays.

"Night with Grandchildren"

Check in was fast, simple and pleasant. Room was comfortable and very clean. Pool was clean and the kids had a great time swimming. Will stay here again when we visit our grandchildren and we do that at least 3 times a year. Breakfast was nothing special but the kids loved it and the coffee was OK. The staff at check out was very pleasant which was nice. I have only had good experiences with Best Western Hotels.

"Convenient location and friendly staff"

The Best Western Butterfield Inn is in a convenient location off the Interstate. It would have been more convenient if the GPS would've done a better job of directing us from the Highway since we didn't come via the Interstate and therefore had to do a u-turn to get there. This hotel and the Best Western Plus in South Ogden Utah have changed my impression of Best Western in general. Very nice and tidy and the room in this location was very quiet. Should we find ourselves needing a place to stay in the middle of Kansas again we will certainly be looking to stay here again.

We stopped here after driving for nearly 10 hours from southern Colorado. Great room, large with 2 queen beds and a nice sized bathroom. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. Breakfast was good as well.

I booked this hotel online. The stay was great. The bed was fine, the breakfast was very good. The internet worked fine. The check in and check out service went quickly . I had a good time and would stay at this hotel again.

The room was clean and roomy. The work out facilities is very small and the trash needed to be dumped. Breakfast was picked over by 8:30 not much to choose from. They offered cookies during the check in process.

I usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Hays but decided to try the Best Western because it was about $10 per night cheaper. The facilities were not near a clean as the Holiday Inn's. The staff was friendly enough but didn't seem to care about cleaning up. The cookie tray in the lobby was dirty when I checked in and dirty when I left the next morning. There was some pink lemonade also that had not been changed the next day. I'm glad I thought twice about having a sip at check in. The pool water was pretty dirty looking too. I'd say spend the extra $10 and stay at Holiday Inn.

Hotel was clean and quiet. Parking lot is small, we were pulling a trailer and had to park in overflow area. Front desk could not tell me for sure if camera were in parking overflow area. Breakfast buffet was clean and food well presented.

Staff was nice and accommodating, however, the hotel was not as clean as it should have been. The furniture and carpeting was stained and the tile had caked on stains. Also, the breakfast looked disgusting.

We stopped in for one night on our way to CO. The hotel was easy to find right off the interstate. We were greeted with fresh baked cookies and a kind front desk staff. The room was clean and comfortable. The pillows did seem a bit small. Not a lot of options at this intersection.

This is a nice hotel, a typical BW Plus property, but in my opinion is overpriced for the area. One of the adjoining hotels is recently remodeled, is much less, with as nice of rooms. I still stay here occasionally, as I am a diamond elite member and like to keep up my status.

From the staff to the amenities, this hotel is fantastic! They keep fresh lemonade and water right at the front. We decided to try the lemonade and I have to say - it was the best I have ever had! She even filled my "to go" cup for my trip as we were leaving! Great Staff! Clean Hotel, easy access!

Great hotel! Friendly staff and comfortable beds! Easy access from the highway. I stayed on a Sunday night and came back through town and stayed again on Tuesday night. This will be the only hotel I stay from now on when traveling to Hays, KS.

The staff were very attentive and anticipated my needs. Their breakfast was one of the best I've had in quite some time. The room was a 2 queen size room. There was a sitting area which was quite nice for relaxing and watching tv or doing computer work.

The Butterfield Motel is a great place, outstanding rooms, great service, wonderful breakfast. The hotel is just north of Interstate 70. There we planets of restaurants available in the area. Ate at the Applebee's across the highway, great food.

Everything excellent as expected from the Best Western. Close to WalMart and the interstate. We had to stop here to do laundry as we were running out of clean clothes. We are thankful the BW has guest laundries. Cannot recommend the food at the Mexican place next door, but then we live in Arizona. Can recommend the margaritas.

Really nice hotel at a great price. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was extremely friendly and personable. Made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was above average and had lots of good choices. Especially liked the toppings for the eggs. Plenty of choices to eat very close by! We travel through Kansas frequently and will definitely plan our travels to include this as our preferred stop on the way.

We choose hotels based on reviews on Trip Advisor. This property received a very high rating, and we were initially very impressed with the facility. However, a series of events led us to revise our initial impression. 5 to 4: We went to the Best Western website to check the price. We showed the check-in clerk the price on the website and were told that they could only give us a rate about $8 higher. So we had to stand in the lobby and book our room online. 4 to 3: We walked into a beautiful room and found a piece of trash (receipt from a donut shop) by the coffee maker. 3 to 2: We threw away the receipt and proceeded to make a cup of coffee. We unwrapped the cup and prepared to put it under the pot. At that point we noticed that the "fresh" and wrapped cup had apparently been used previously, and there was mold on the bottom of the cup. From 2 to 1: Their free breakfast purportedly has gluten-free and dairy-free options upon request. We requested both, but we were told that the dairy-free options had expired. Upon checkout, we advised the front desk of our disappointments about our stay. We were told that our concerns would be reported. However, since the clerk did not take notes, we are certain that they were promptly forgotten.

I was driving from Philadelphia to Nevada and had to stop along the way. I had a few choices in the area and chose this location because of the price and reputation of their brand. Growing up my parents had a Best Western Hotels book so we always knew where the next BW was on our roadtrip. Through the years some BWs were not regularly updated and the property lost it's great reputation. However, it seems over the last ten years there's been a ton of remodeling, branding, marketing and the name is once again a name you can count on for quality. The BW Butterfield Inn is one such property. It looks and feels like a new property. Very clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds provide everything you need for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good and definitely met expectations. And the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is an excellent choice whether staying for one night or for a week.

We were driving from Utah to Tennessee and just stopping to sleep, so we weren't looking for anything fancy. The room was big, comfortable, with 2 beds and 2 comfortable chairs. Breakfast included hot items like eggs and sausage gravy. Fresh baked cookies awaited us as we checked in. The nice woman at breakfast even have us bags to pack our breakfast in so we could get back on the road early.

Visited Hays to move our son over the weekend. He is attending college in town and the stay was nice had plenty of room and chairs to have a visit with him and his girlfriend in the evenings. Rooms were clean and had a on site laundry room which came in handy since we got wet while moving as it was raining and snow mix over the weekend.

We arrived after a long day of travel and were greeted by a personable and bubbly desk clerk (Diva or Dina). It was nice to be greeted so warmly after a tiring day. We were checked in quickly and on our way to our room. Our room was very spacious and super clean. Bed was comfortable, but the pillows could have been better. Breakfast was good. Check out was a little slow, but there was only one desk clerk and she was assisting another guest who had a problem, which caused a backup. We would definitely stay here again.

Our room was clean and spacious. Location was great. The customer service made the difference for us. Rooms were nice but the breakfast wasn't good at all. Pool was small for that big of a place. Staff was nice and helpful. Was kind of pricey to stay. I had no shampoo or soap or lotion in my room unlike other places I have stayed for nicer and cheaper.

I strongly recommend, if you choose this hotel, inspect room before you pay...many of the systems, lights, thermostat, air handling unit in wall, television, remote control, were either non-functional or functioned significantly below acceptable...also, window was filthy (bird feces on large portion of window) as were other areas in room..not a good experience..

This motel is good value, quiet, close to a Walmart, and near the interstate. Hot breakfast available and the cook would made eggs to order. The only thing that could have been better is the bathroom lighting, which was too dim for me.

"Best place to stay in Hays"

Must be the nicest place to stay in Hays, KS. Clean all around, nice little pool, room was large, clean and well furnished. Beds were comfortable and the Air Conditioning was COLD! I'm sure there are cheaper places to stay in Hays but this place wasn't particularly expensive (under $100 when we stopped off here) and a great value for the money.

"Definitely a nice place to stay"

This was a business trip. It was a very clean room, and quiet. I did not hear any highway noise. Located close to a lot of food places. Appreciated the free wifi, which is always important when traveling for business. Breakfast was good, can't go wrong with eggs and ham. Definitely, stay there again.

Though the lobby was not as uniquely decorated as some Best Westerns, it was was comfortable and pleasant. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasant as well. The breakfast was the same as at other Best Westerns (which was good). The indoor pool was absolutely the warmest I'd ever swum in (which was also good). The front desk staff at check-in and check-out were friendly. I would stay here again.

"Pleasant surprise"

I haven't stayed in a Best Western for years, mostly because I found their properties aging and not kept up. But this property in Hays was a very pleasant surprise. It had been recently remodeled and reopened. Our room was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. I appreciated the sitting area consisting of two chairs with footstools and a table with a lamp. Great place to cozy up with my book. The check in desk staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was generous with its choices and the area was kept clean and items refilled. This will be my go to hotel on the trips to Denver.

One of the best, especially for the price, places we have stayed. Quiet, very clean, spacious and a wonderful full breakfast. Amazing for the size of the city. This is an updated hotel and doesn't look from the outside as nice as it really is on the interior.

"Great place to stay to break up a long drive across country"

I made Hays my stopping point when driving from Arkansas back to Colorado. The value of the room was great! It was very clean AND quiet! And not a lot of hallway light comes through the bottom of the door like most places. Bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Shower had good water pressure and heated quickly. Breakfast had many choices including scrambled eggs and I believe it was bacon. They also have a waffle maker that looked pretty good. There is also a pool that stays open until 11pm.

"NEW, NEW, NEW"

My hubby and I were traveling through Hays, Ks on our way to FL for our anniversary. We decided to stay at the Best Western because it is right off the interstate and it looked like a safe place to stay. When we got there we were promptly greeted by Aundy, and checked into our room with ease. She was so bright, cheerful, and humorous. She gave us an amazing recommendation on where to eat. Once we got to the room we were astonished to see how big the room was. Also, the entire hotel was extremely clean. Props to the housekeepers because they do an amazing job. At checkout, we were pleased to see a smiling and welcoming face. The employee working that morning was named Alexis. Breakfast was top notch!! We have never had such a good breakfast experience ever at any other hotel. We cannot wait to come back and stay on our way back through! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Hays.

The gal at the counter was super nice! Very clean hotel, wonderful breakfast!!! We will stay again if heading that way!!! Lots of little extras (orange infused water, fresh baked cookies and mint in the lobby!) The rooms were nice and big too!!!

"Newly remodeled"

This hotel was literally re-opened after a remodel less than a month ago. Stayed overnight on our way to Mexico/US in Ohio. Everything was obviously very clean. The only exception was the drapes in our room, which definitely should have been included in the remodel, but sadly were not. The choice for mattress pad was also not up to snuff, but once you're asleep, who notices? Nice breakfast buffet and staff.

"Amazing establishment"

Stayed for two nights on business. After a long day of driving and meetings, the checkin process went smoothly and quickly. The woman at the front desk was cheery and pleasant. The room was enormous and pristine. Immediate hot water in the shower, which surprised me because I was on the 3rd floor. My king size bed was so comfortable that getting up in the mornings was a struggle and I had to ask what kind of bed it was. The continental breakfast was above and beyond my expectations. The muffins were fresh, the juice wasn't sour, and there were plenty of other choices for food (omelette, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, cold cereal). The eating area was clean and top notch! I didn't use the indoor pool or the gym, but the pool had sparkling water and the area around it was just as clean as everything else in the hotel. I regretted leaving my suit at home because it's not often you find amazing indoor pools like this one (they also had a chair lift at the pool for disabled guests, something else that's rare)! The desk clerks were always polite and cheerful, which is a big bonus when you're traveling. I will have other conferences in Hays, and I look forward to returning to Butterfield in the future!

Stayed at this hotel on my way to Denver. Huge room,and was very clean,They have a better than average breakfast. Since I travel thru Kansas twice a year, this will be the hotel I stay at from now on.

Satisfied with the renovation, with the service and with the professional service. I wish there was a laundry room and an updated gym. It was clean, well positioned off of the highway and close to food and a big box store.

Beautiful room, very good breakfast. Front desk helped with next reservation. We were traveling from Branson,Mo to Arizona. This was our best stop on the way home as we wanted to see Colorado next day. Very nice place just off highway next to excellent restaurants.

"My Bare Feet Loved It"

You can tell a lot about the cleanliness of a hotel room by walking barefoot on the floor. My feet were very happy on the carpet in our room and on the tile in the bathroom. Clean floors! The rest of the room was just as clean. The bed was comfy and we had THREE chairs in our king room. We did not have to flip a coin to see who had to sit on the bed to watch TV. Three towels and three face cloths. Always love the extra. A face cloth for my husband to shave and a spare towel to dry my hair. We had a microwave and a fridge, and the air conditioner had an always "on" function for the fan. I had read some reviews about this hotel being noisy. I did not find that to be the case at all. Yes, our room door would slam, if we just let it go. But we did not do that and I guess most other guests did not either. Maybe having the fan running also helped. The breakfast was very good. Ready made omelets and some kind of pancake on a stick, the morning we were there. It changes each morning. Don't know if they have those delicious cinnamon rolls every morning or not, but they were super! We had a couple hot and fresh out of the oven. We really enjoyed this hotel and would stay again, if traveling through Hays. The only negative I would note is that the elevator was SLOW!!

This was a stopping point while traveling with two young children. I loved the size of the rooms. Very spacious to accommodate kids playtime with a comfortable sitting area for the adults. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were great! We loved the pool area also. Would have liked bigger pool towels. Their was no light in the pool area bathroom. Two small things that would make the visit better but would definitely choose this location again if in Hays KS.

"Think twice"

This is not a place I will consider staying in the future. I discussed issues with the General Manager about an employee and the response given was very ho-hum. She was not willing to make any changes to make the stay more pleasant. Also, this hotel will not price match if you find a better price online. This is the best reason I can think of to take my money elsewhere.

"Disappointment all around"

I would never stay at this hotel again. Walls are paper thin. The doors are heavy so when guests open the doors to their rooms they slam shut. A motion sensor controls the fan on the a/c unit in the room. I set the fan to ON to drown out the noise from the hallway and rooms next to me. The fan would kickoff and I would have to wave my arms around to get it to turn back on. The water pressure in the shower made it difficult to rinse the shampoo from my hair. Breakfast was lukewarm and mushy (french toast sticks and sausage). When I checked out I was not asked how my stay was and was shamed for asking for a receipt. Desk attendant never told me up front that an email copy was sent to me and seemed bothered to print a copy for me. I won't ever stay at this hotel again and told the resident of Hays that told me to stay there to quit referring it to visitors.

"Convenient Location"

This hotel was within seconds off the freeway and with a late arrival that was really nice. The hotels breakfast was beyond what you expect for a continental breakfast. Omelettes were on the menu the day we stayed! Tons of options. The room was big and comfy. I loved that they had a place to put your luggage so we didn't have to put it on the floor. Staff was nice and pleasant. We would definitely stay there again.

"Turn down the lights"

Harsh LED Lights throughout the hotel destroy the ambiance and comfort of the facility. Harsh day of driving into very harsh lighting in lodging. The breakfast is normal and met expectations. They did have extra bed side electrical outlets for C-Pap. Staff & cleanliness were excellent.

"2nd Choice was a Great Choice"

We have mostly been staying at Hilton hotels along our road trip, but it was full, so we went to the Best Western next door. It was a very nice hotel on a par with many we've stayed at recently and better than a couple. I would highly recommend this hotel to weary travelers of any age with or without children. The place was clean, tastefully furnished and decorated, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good. We also used the pool and jacuzzi and both were clean and enjoyable.

"Nice hotel on the road"

Room was clean, and beds were comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and check in was quick. The lack of one star is because the lady putting out breakfast was very annoyed when we asked if we could grab a couple pastries (which were all out and ready to go) ten minutes before breakfast started because we were ready to get on the road. Still a great, quick over night, though.

"Business trip"

It was easy to reserve a room on Trip Adviser and no hassles at the front desk when checking in. I will stay at this hotel again when in that area. The location is great for restaurants and Wal Mart. The room was very quiet on the third floor. Breakfast had a lot of options.

"Great stop on the road"

Good facilities, great staff, okay breakfast. Hard to do breakfast for lots of people but egg pattie are too weird and bacon was marginal. Enjoyed the whole wheat English muffins though! Nice that they offered yogurt.

Front desk staff was unorganized. They wouldn't let anyone check in before 3:00 on the dot and actually it was 3:03 pm when she said we could finally check in. Lobby was packed full of annoyed people with several very angry men. They let the angry men check in before other people that had been waiting over an hour. They only had one person checking in to start with but another one joined her then left shortly after. When I got to our room there was a bug on the wall and 2 hairs in the sink. We will not return.

"Very Nice Hotel, clean, quiet and comfortable"

Nice size room, comfortable king bed, normal bath/shower combo, soft waster (so use less soap) nice and plentiful linens, nice size TV, decent channel selections, and good climate control. Really nice, restful room. The pool, hot tub and fitness facilities were good, with extra recognition on the handicap lift for the swimming pool. First place (outside a rehab facility) where I've seen this type of accessible lift for a pool. Very nice!

"Best hotel on our trip!"

We drove cross country on Memorial Day weekend and did not book hotels because we weren't sure how far we would drive each day. On our third day, we called ahead as we were driving and were able to book a room. On the way, a bad thunderstorm hit about 30 minutes from the hotel. We waited it out for almost an hour. I called the hotel several times to make sure they would hold the room. The desk clerk not only assured us that they would hold the room, but gave me weather reports for that area. Once we saw a clearing in the storm (after quarter size hail, 60 mph winds, and heavy rain. We were driving a 16 ft. moving van), we were able to determine that we had a window of opportunity to safely get to the hotel because I called again and the clerk said the storm was past that area and gave me directions. We finally arrived after a white knuckle drive at about 8:30pm. The clerk recommended several restaurants very close and gave us a 10% coupon that was accepted by any of the restaurants. The room was the largest room on our trip. Beds and pillows GREAT! Quiet room in the back away from highway noise. Bathroom and towels like a 5 star hotel. Breakfast the next morning had many choices and everything was very clean. Recommend HIGHLY!! BTW - lowest rate on our trip on a holiday weekend and gave us a discount for AAA members.

We only needed to stay for one night, but the room was spacious and clean and shower was great. I didn't have the time to try the exercise facilities or pool so can't rate that. The breakfast was good as well.

"One night in a thunderstorm"

We have stayed here in past years and prebooked a room. We arrived in a thunderstorm and it seemed a lot of interstate traffic had given up due to the bad weather and wanted to stay as well. I think the hotel became booked pretty quickly. Despite the queue the receptionist was polite and unflustered. We were in a king room - I think it was an accessible one too as the bathroom had lots of bars in it and a showerhead that you can take off the wall. The room was very spacious and comfortable - the bed had a blanket though rather than a duvet. However, as with many hotel like this the sound proofing was very poor - there was an interconnecting door that probably didnt help but we could hear *everything* from the room next door word for word. We couldn't hear the intertstate traffic though. The wifi was very fast I think we measured 22Mbps download - 5 upload!

The staff was all wonderfully welcoming and helpful, from our arrival last night to our good morning at breakfast. I was impressed with the friendly,joy filled attitudes.. The room was nice...everything was clean and looked like it had been recently updated. I love it when the carpets look new and clean. Breakfast was as expected, being gluten free I am glad to find a few options I can partake of. Thanks for accommodations that allowed a restful nights sleep...we're off!

I have been staying in Hays all year for work and stayed at almost every hotel. The Best Western is the best by far, great accommodations, amazing staff, and most importantly a great shower. I've stayed here over 50 times and I was never once disappointed. Stay here, you will not regret it!!!!! :)

Beds are definitely not as comfortable as the Hampton. Hotel is clean though and breakfast is not bad. Location is good. Glad we booked through Priceline and got a deal on the room. Spa was out of order the entire stay, we were told it would be a one day fix :-(

The overall experience was good. The only drawback was the breakfast activity. Machines were out of order, they ran out of items such as sugar (more than one visitor requested it). The staff could not make it right.

We had such a good time at this hotel! The rooms were very clean and quite spacious. The staff was very courteous and professional. I asked to have 3 rooms close together and they were! The hotel is very easy to get to. My husband and I, our kids and our grandkids totally enjoyed our stay!

This hotel is conveniently located near Interstate 70, and is relatively new. Our room was large and pleasant. Parking was easy, and the breakfast was satisfactory. This inn is above average, but not exceptional. The personnel we dealt with were all pleasant and professional.

Our experience at this hotel could not have been better! The facility appeared to be new. It was very clean and spacious in the lobby, dining room and our own room. The furnishings were ample and comfortable with a table, desk, two stuffed chairs and an ottoman. It also included a good sized refrigerator and microwave. The staff was also very friendly and helpful!

We stayed here recently after a bad experience at a neighboring hotel where I was given a room that someone had been smoking in, even though it was billed as a non-smoking facility. Due to asthma, I must have a non-smoking facility. First novel had no other rooms. So, I called the BW, explained my situation, and was told I could come over and check out a room before deciding. I did just that, and was checked into a wonderful, non-smoking room with absolutely no odor! Thanks to the wonderful front desk staff who helped resolve this problem for me.

"Poorly maintained hotel"

One of the worst hotel stays I've had in years. 1) At check-in the clerk told me their laundry facilities were "broken." I asked if there were a local laundromat and she replied, "Yes -- but I don't know where?" And then she laughed merrily. She was as disinterested and cold after that as a person could be. NOT a warm and friendly welcome. 2) Next morning I go to take a shower but can't figure out how to use the shower in the handicapped room. (No idea why they gave me a handicapped room.) I had never seen a shower setup like this one and had to call the front desk to show me how to make the water come out of the shower nozzle up above. The maid who came pulled the nozzle below the faucet to diver the water to the shower nozzle -- and the shower nozzle up above squirted me with cold water, drenching my shirt. Once she left I took a shower -- but the clamp that holds the shower hoze was loose and the clamp "walked" down the vertical support bar during the entire shower - within a few minutes, the shower nozzle was at waist height instead of head height. This was a useless contraption, as the clamp would not hold the nozzle where you set it. 3) The lamp on the table in the corner had a defective switch. When I tried to turn the lamp on, the switch spit sparks and was obviously shorting out. The bulb in the lamp would thus not stay lit. I was very late to a business appointment because of the defective shower. And I had been on the road for a week and was counting on doing laundry the night I checked in. A hotel that charges this much should have figured out how to call a technician to repair their laundry facilities. Incidentally, I just this minute called their hotel to see if their laundry facilities are working and was told, "The laundry facilities are still out of service, unfortunately." My stay was 10 days ago - and they are unable to find a technician to fix a washing machine? Give me a break! This is very poor management. A hotel like this does not deserve your business. The rooms, by the way, while clean and new, were sterile and unwelcoming, matching the attitude of the staff.

Carpet in room filthy, towels faded and different shades and wash cloth so frayed that threads were hanging. Took to front desk and said, sorry and gave me better one. Sheets were old. "Big rooms, rude staff"

We always stay in Hays on our trips from Colorado to Okla as it is the halfway point. Normally, we stay at Holiday Inn, but on a whim decided to give BW a try. Our room was big with vaulted ceilings & the bathroom was large as well with updated granite. The beds were dated with old, dingy bedding. The pool was nice, but the hot tub had way too many chemicals that foamed up so much with the jets on, we had to get out. We slept late as we arrived late so came downstairs at 9:30 hungry for our free breakfast to find everything put away. Apparently, it ended at 9am vs the 10am breakfasts at every other hotel we've ever stayed at. My husband asked for change for the vending machine & encountered a rude staff person who seemed inconvenienced but obliged. I had to make several trips from our room to the front desk for replacement room keys which ended up being the lock needing the batteries replaced. After waiting several minutes the staff person came out with a screwdriver & batteries smelling of smoke since she had been outside smoking rather than at the desk. No apology was made for the lock or our having to wait. Upon checkout, we were informed by a different rude staff person that she needed to inspect our room before returning our deposit. I realized I'd forgotten my sons jacket so went back to get it. As we left the room, she asked, "what is that red spot on the sheet from?" My son had flaming hot cheetos the night before so I explained that's what it was. She said she needed to know so they could use the right cleaner. It was a strange question & felt as if I was being scolded. After giving us back our $100 cash deposit, she threw in: "the girl last night must not be aware our deposit rate went up to $200 so next time you'll know." When we got to the car, we both agreed there won't be a next time.

We stopped here on our way to Colorado, check in was fast easy, and the gal was very pleasant . I was traveling with 2 teenage boys, room was comfortable, WiFi and HUGE plus.. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but adequate.

"Great hotel in a great area"

Hays is a very nice small town. It has some interesting sightseeing sight (the fort) and nice restaurants We didn't visit the fort on this visit. We did have a very good meal at Peter Mandy's with an added bonus of 10% off for mentioning our BW hotel. The hotel is extremely well-run. Lezlie who made our reservation also checked us in. She made sure that we got exactly the room in a quiet area that we had requested. She and Lexi told us about the new restaurant and the discount. Both couldn't be nicer and are excellent representatives of Best Western hotels.

We stayed at this hotel for 0ne night and it was truly one of the best stays. The staff was so nice. The front desk person that night was very helpful with directions …Awesomeness! The room was so awesome and it surprised us!!! The main factor in all this was the non smoking rooms.. That was a tremendous plus for us!!. Everything was spacious, very, very clean, and felt like it was built yesterday. You never had to ask for anything, and since my partner/wife has tremors, staff made sure they accommodated her in every way possible. Total awesomeness!! The rates were very reasonable. There was plenty of parking, and we felt so safe. We will definitely be back and highly recommending this Best Western as it was our favorite among all of our stays..

"It's okay, just not great"

The Butterfiled Inn has nice rooms, however some of the other amenities are marginal. The breakfast was weak, mostly powdered eggs and undesirable meats. You could make your own waffle but that was the extent of it. The excercise facility was small and didn't seem well cared for. The treadmill could used to be cleaned and some type of sanitary wipe available to clean off the equipment would have been useful. This is not a terrible place to stay, just wasn't anything impressive to me.

"Comfortable Stop"

Pretty good stop in Hays. I say pretty good because although my room was spacious and had some good amenities (clean and spacious bathroom, microwave and refrigerator), the chairs and ottoman had some stains. No issues with the beds, pillows, linens, and room decor, but the dirty chairs really stuck out when I walked into the room. Hotel seems noisier than some on the first floor. The room doors slam quite noisily and that noise (from other rooms) seemed to roll up and down the hallway throughout the evening. Nice to have coffee on demand any time of day or night, along with hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Breakfast items were fairly standard, but plentiful (eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, hot and cold cereals). Unfortunately there wasn't much of a fresh fruit selection. Nice to have USA Today to read. Staff was pleasant.

"Could be better"

Sorry, but these are not worthy of $99+ tax rooms at least not the standard 2 queen bedroom I had even if it was pretty spacious. The property's excessive use of CFL bulbs which I understand can be cost savings to the hotel was over the top and removed any sense of warmth and comfort from the moment you walk in, most especially in the room hallway and worse the room itself. Sorry if this might sound silly or dramatic but it literally gave the place an institutional/warehouse feeling sometimes which robs the home away from home experience, with an overall impression of cheapness. While I'm glad I got my room at a slight discount, the proper value for this hotel is about $79 + tax in my honest opinion, mattress was alright but have had better even at lower quality hotels, breakfast was better than some but only 1 hot food item available not counting the same old waffle maker found in most places, automated coffee dispensing machines are unfortunately cropping up more.

Nice hotel, appears to be recently remodeled, very clean, comfortable bed we liked it and would stay there again as we pass through Kansas. If this hotel is any indication then it appears Best Western is making a nice comeback.

"Not as nice as you would expect"

From the outside, the hotel looks fairly new and nice, but the rooms are a little worse for the wear. There were stains on the furniture in our room and the bathroom had hair on the floor and in the shower. Breakfast didn't have very many options like you would find at a Hampton or Holiday Inn. Front desk staff was polite upon check in but when I tried calling down to the desk 3 times later in the night to complain about the noisy neighbors above me, nobody answered the phone at all. I travel through Hays often, about every two weeks and will not be choosing this hotel again as there are many other options in the area for the same amount of money.

"Very clean"

The hotel was very clean, beds comfortable and rates good. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. We arrived very late but the receptionist was accommodating. The hotel was quiet even though it was a Saturday which is a plus after a long day on the road.

This was our second stay at the best Western in Hays Kansas. Because of a previous experience three months earlier... at this motel, we organized our road trip to include another stay at Hays... the staff at this location are fantastic... follow through & customer service are over the top! "Consistent quality in Hays"

We've stayed here several times over the other existing hotels. We had two weddings and holidays this past year. The cleanliness and service is always excellent. Will continue to stay here when in town.

"Nice"

Beds were very comfortable, towels could have been better. Big room. We had a king, downstairs. It had the usual fridge, micro but only a single cup coffeemaker. But desk clerk quickly provided 4 extra coffee packets. Breakfast was very good. Sausage,bacon,waffles,yogurt,muffins,cereal and our favorite, biscuits and gravy!

"No cooperation from GM"

I am a Diamond club member and stay at BW all over KS. Every BW gives me a great rate but this one. Several emails with the GM she don't care. So I will no longer stay. When checking in last time they offered the guy standing next to me a better triple AAA discount. I stay at BW over 100 plus times a year you would think I would get a better rate not the snowbird on his way to AZ. So I just stay with their competition and they give me the rate I need.

This is my lodging of choice when in Hays. Right off Interstate, reasonably priced, clean and has good breakfast. Great for business travelers and those going to and from Colorado. Fairly new property and well-kept.

Had a wonderful stay. The hotel and room were very clean. The staff were very nice and very helpful. This was one of the better hotels we stayed at during our trip. I recommend this hotel as the place to stay.

"Best Nights Sleep EVER!"

Bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was way above expectations, with plenty of Gluten Free options. Pool had a handicap lift, and was immaculate. Rooms were generously sized and even had a sitting area, so you didn't have to sit on beds just to watch TV. Staff was very friendly

Hotel sold out night prior to my stay and room was not ready when I arrived. Front desk clerk went out of her way to find me a place to freshen up and dress for my function. Easy access to highway and restaurants close. Great parking lot lighting for lone traveler.

Large, comfortable rooms nicely appointed. Friendly, helpful staff. In our room the toilet and mattress needed attention. Breakfast better than average, but the coffee maker made instant coffee. Good location just off the Interstate.

Back on Hays for a surprise birthday party and needed one night in Hays. Pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is. The small things made it super good, such as fresh cookies in the nicely decorated and clean lobby and a welcoming staff. LOVED the multi-headed shower - nice surprise. And breakfast was good with lots of good choices such as cereal, fresh waffles, eggs, sausage, muffins and fruit. They're doing a really good job with this hotel. We will go back.

Been traveling a lot over the past 14 days. This is one of my favorite hotels I've stayed at. Good amenities. Very Clean. They served one of the best breakfasts I've had at a hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.

Excellent location, friendly staff and fast service, comfortable and very large room, and marvelous breakfast. What more is there to say? Not very busy when we checked in without reservation at 7 PM. Large room with king size bed, desk, two comfortable chairs, closet, and large bathroom. Slept through a quiet night in the comfortable bed. Breakfast a special treat: lots of variety from omelette to French toast and make-your-own waffle. Four kinds of cold cereal including adult choices. Yogurt , toast, and muffins that were very special. Plenty to drink from tea to coffee to juices and milk. The pancake wrapped sausages looked like corn dogs, but the signs steered me to a delicious side. I didn't try everything, although I was tempted. Enjoy the hospitality and the good food. Spend a night. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent customer service. Clean rooms clean facility and helpful staff. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Breakfast is always good and did I mention that it's clean. I've stayed here twice and have no complaints.

The rooms were nice, and the staff was wonderful. The pool and hot-tub were great. Breakfast was average but good. The property is clean and kept up. For a $120 room, I expected more sound insulation. Halls were very loud in the morning.

Normally we stay at Comfort Suites due to our loyalty to the chain and we receive a discount. But they were full when booking so we went with Best Western. This location was clean, friendly, and breakfast was like most motel breakfasts. I feel it was a tad pricey though for Hays, Ks. I would have paid less for the same type of service and cleaniness. I will probably use again if needed & Comfort Suites is not available.

My family and I stayed at the Best Western the other night and you could tell they were busy. The lot was packed and multiple families in the pool. When you walk in it looks like you're walking into your family living room, with couches and chairs for people to sit while waiting for just to hang out. They also had fresh chocolate chip cookies and pink lemonade for anyone to take. The front desk staff was so accommodating, they asked us which floor we would like to be on (most hotels don't give you a choice). Also the girls that worked the front desk (I believe their names were Lexie and Leslie) were so sweet, cheerful, and helpful. They interacted with my husband, our kids, and myself. They were able to pick out an amazing family friendly restaurant for us and also told us some places we could take the kids for something fun to do. Once we got up to the room I was just blown away by how spacious and inviting it was. The beds were like sleeping on clouds. I have never gotten that good of a nights sleep in a hotel before. Breakfast was top notch for a hotel breakfast (not your typical plain jane breakfast). They served scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast burritos, and they also had two waffle makers which makes it a lot easier for a lot of people to use them. The way they have their breakfast room set up is perfect, it is not congested and isn't in the lobby like most hotels. The girl that checked us out (I believe her name was Brook) was very sweet. Overall, I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat!!

"DO NOT STAY HERE!"

We had 4 rooms reserved over Labor Day weekend for a wedding party and guests on a debit card. When we checked in, it was made very clear (she repeated it back to us twice!) that all rooms would be charged to one particular "W R Stutz" credit card (as a gift to staying guests). VERY UNFORTUNATELY, one of the rooms was charged to the debit card, which did NOT have the money in the checking account to cover the Best Western Butterfield charge, which caused over $220 of overdraft fees, misc. bank charges and not to mention the emotional stress and grief. All the manager of the Best Western Butterfields could say was that it was a 'miscommunication' and "just tell the bank that it was a miscommunication and they will surely reverse the charges." What planet is she from? We have called several times with the last time Best Western Butterfield saying they could give us some rewards points. REALLY? Not interested, nor are we interested in staying at a Best Western again, especially the on in Hays, KS. There are many, many other choices!!

Have travelled a lot in my 73 years and this hotel had the most comfortable bed and pillows I have experienced. A very comfortable 4 nights of sleep. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Loved having 2 chairs (one with an ottoman) for hubby and I to sit in while watching TV. The mini-fridge and microwave were a nice touch. The breakfast was good, pretty much the same fare as other hotels. This will be our go to hotel in Hays.

"Nice hotel just off interstate"

Closest hotel to I-70. Nice rooms within microwave and fridge. Good free breakfast. Quiet. Pool and hot tub. Lots of restaurants nearby. Will stay here again. There is plenty of free parking by the front door.

"Very good stay - very good value"

This is a very clean hotel with large rooms - including a sitting area and micro/fridge. They have an indoor pool with an outside patio area. Breakfast was good. As we were traveling, its location right off I70 was very convenient, There are lots of mostly chain restaurants in the area - a good stopover for us.
