Excellent place when traveling with pets! The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room was large and we had space to take care of our 2 dogs. The outside grassy area was well maintained and provided a “poop”container.

If you are traveling I-70 through Kansas, this is a nice place to stay, the room was good sized, the bed and pillows were very comfortable to us. Breakfast was good, similar to other places we have stayed, easier than going to a restaurant! Night clerk was good and efficient even after 11:00! Easy to get on and off the interstate, we would be glad to stay there again.

Honest review of this hotel. First off, I stay at a lot of Best Western Plus hotels, and this one is one of those that Best Western didn't "build" themselves but rather bought, so if you are used to staying in one of the really super nice best western plus hotel like the one in Lawrence Kansas, this hotel might be a little below what you are used to, just because it is is an older hotel. But let's face it, if you are staying at this hotel, it is probably because you have driven all day long and are stopping to crash for the night. This hotel is perfect for that. It is in a nice safe little area right next to the interstate, and gas station. There is an IHOP right behind the hotel and an applebees right across the street. So there is plenty of "roadside food" to be had and in the morning it is very easy to jump right on the interstate 70 and get going. Pets - we travel with our little Dog Stewie and there were plenty of grass spots around the hotel and sidewalks to walk him. Some hotels we've stayed at are so industrial there isn't really anywhere to walk him that is great. But there are plenty of places to walk pets. Pet fees - speaking of pets - it really annoyed me that they charge $30 per night when far better Best Western franchisees charge only $15. If they are going to start bumping the pet fees up I will start staying at the Hampton Inn right behind them - and the only reason I don't is their pet fee is $70 per night. They should bring their pet fees down to $15 like everyone else in best western. The rooms were large. The pool was open. All the appliances worked. The breakfast was what you'd expect - the hot water was hot and so was the coffee which is about all I care about. Overall - we will stay here again as we travel this route quite often and it is very convenient. I think you just have to know that this is Hays Kansas - middle of nowhere, but as far as towns along the I-70 go, it is either Hays, or push on to Salina, and Salina isn't as nice of a town as Hays in my opinion..

The room was clean and comfortable. I was able to use the internet and work comfortably in the room. Staff at check in and check out were polite and professional. Traveling alone for business this hotel I felt safe and had no issues at all.

This location was much better than a hotel we stayed at in Colby, KS on the way to CO. On the way back we stopped in Hays and this hotel was cleaner, cheaper, hotter shower, nicer staff, and comfortable beds.

The elevator simply stopped working. We had to carry all our luggage, an ice chest and other belongings on the stairs and we were on the third floor. To top it off breakfast buffet ran out of items like buscuits and gravy and we were there with more than enough time (30 minutes) to prepare more before ending time. Hot tub was filthy dirty. And to top it off out T.V. remote didn't work. We will never stay at a Best Western again. Especially since management did absolutely nothing but apologize and say unfortunately circumstances like this happen. What in the world has happened to guest service? Doesn't exist anymore.

I am very sorry that there was elevator troubles that was beyond our control. The tech received an alert and was at the hotel within the half hour to fix it. We would have been more than happy to have helped with your luggage if asked as we did help several other guest with the same problem. I did award you enough award points to cover another stay at another Best Western hotel as we agreed at your check out. As for breakfast there was a lot of people that day in breakfast and it was very hard to keep up and I am sorry that at the end we did run out. We had several ball teams staying and it takes time to fix that much food. The remote was an easy fix if we had known. Again my apologies for any problems that occurred.

Our room was much bigger and nicer than we expected. The staff was friendly & extremely helpful. Set-up was great for traveling with a dog and breakfast was more options than expected. The price was higher than usual but it was over the 4th so reasonable in comparison.

We stayed at Best western because dog friendly. Check in was fine. Upon entering the room a dead roach greeted us and the smell was stale and funky. I guess that's what we get for needing an overnight stop and having a dog. Not to mention way overpriced. The room itself was $154 plus pet fee and taxes. What a joke.

On friday we checked into this hotel the two gentlemen at the front desk were great and helpful. At check out (sunday 19th) the lady was great as well, I told her about my concerns as I had noticed them late the night before however, my kiddos were in bed so that's why I waited til morning. She wrote my name, number and the room number down with the issues I had (mold) and was going to have the manager call me. I ended up calling because I had yet to hear from anyone. When I spoke with Lidia she said they had no idea what I was talking about because they didn't see any mold. I reiterated that it was in the bathroom above the shower and it was very visible. She said they would check. She called back to argue with me and state it wasn't mold but maybe there was a leak there again and it was damp as they previously had a leak in that room and it was supposedly fixed by maintenance. I said it was definitely mold as my brother in law works in Mold Remediation and is a Professional Painter which I've seen/helped with. She again said no and tried to argue/explain away that they've never had a mold issue and that it wasn't mold. I told her I wasn't going to argue with her and that I was just concerned for guest safety as 2 od my girls are allergic to mold and both threw up while there. I told her that I would just leave a review so that others were aware and could make a decision on what was best for them. She said she would need maintenance to get up there and check it and test it. I told her that was fine. I over looked a lot of little stuff pizza sauce on the ceiling, hole w/tape by bathtub and painted over, toothpaste all over the wall up high in the bathroom etc. Please, double check your room for the safety of your family, I wish I would've I figured after spending $477.13 for 2 nights that was with a discount I didn't think that would be something we had to worry about. I even left the cleaning lady a decent tip for having clean up puke sheets. Please, check every where and every time!

No reservations we were driving through. Had a kid in need of a pool and this was the only one with hot tub and pool. They were behind on cleaning due to a person too tired and was going to leave it for the am. The inspector person had to clean and inspect 3 rooms and ppl were already wanting the rooms including us. The front desk gentleman was so friendly and helpful keeping me informed the whole time on the room. We grabbed a bite to eat and the room was done by the time we got back. The lady who cleaned did perfect for being under pressure I guess you could say since ppl were waiting for her to get done because they wanted these rooms. She didn't cut corners. I was afraid the rooms may not be perfect and I was going to suck it up cuz she did her best but nope they were Perfectly cleaned. No streaks no residual hair or grime. Everything looked new. Which I take as, the other housekeepers do a thorough job cleaning so that no build up is left over which makes cleaning easier for the next when they all do it right the first time. Or that lady is just awesome at cleaning and cares a lot about her job and her work ethic. She helped make the hotel money by doing that she got 3 rooms ready which made them sold out. Good job on that night shift crew between 9pm-11pm this occurred. Good job and thank you for a very good stay oh and the breakfast was good and had quite the variety. Just wish it wasn't so early 6-9 I like the til 10 or 11 breakfasts but perfect stay and I slept better in a clean room than the not clean room I had in our last stay at a holiday inn. We came back to this hotel again, but the shower didn't work the next morning. But the manager called me and offered a partial refund for the inconvenience. raven was still awesome. I would stay here again. Lidia, said the problem was fixed. Very clean room. Great breakfast.

They say you get what you pay for......well in this case, you get so much more than what you pay for. Extremely friendly staff, high level of cleanliness, delicious breakfast and spacious room. Highly recommend Hays KS Best Western Plus Butterfield Inn over and over again. In fact we will be staying there again next month! Having stayed in many hotels over the years, this one certainly is at the top of the list.

This was a nice hotel. Well situated and clean. I can find no fault with either the staff or facility. The breakfast was standard fare but not unpleasant. My grandson and I found the location and easy access from the interstate nice

The hotel smelled fresh and clean. The pool was a little chilly, but the spa was nice. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We have stayed here before, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

When I checked in I saw a lot of folks with dogs. Then I remembered the reviews about it is a very popular pet friendly hotel, I felt a little anxious at first because I envisioned a lot of barking and noise,. But the pet folks were consigned to the first floor and Colin, (the guy at the desk) was nice enough to "read" our concern and put us on the third floor. Did not hear any noise and we had a quiet restful stay. The price was certainly fair and the hotel was a good value.

Overall the rooms weren't too bad bed was comfortable and it was really quiet. The building had some siding and room shingles torn off (probably just a western ks storm) the rooms could use some updating and a few remolding things could be done nothing major.

This hotel hosted a conference for my company. They were accommodating, the breakfast was ready early and kept perfectly neat and filled during the breakfast times, the hotel was comfortable and clean. Staff was so friendly - definitely using them again!

Spacious(very), clean rooms. The breakfast was a great selection of pretty quality food. Coffee was good. Staff was very courteous. We always stop in Denver for the night (from our long drive from AR) before heading into Colorado to ski. This will be our new stop instead. Much better than the hotels in the same price range we've stayed at in Denver.

The only thing I really didn't like was the wifi! Really slow, and not the best for gaming consoles. Maybe be able to make it where people can hardwire their gaming consoles? Other than that the overall stay was good! The kids enjoyed the pool and the fitness center.

Dog feces everywhere all around the building...every few feet another pile. Room had stains in the carpet, splatter marks on the ceiling, urine stains at the base of toilet, residue on the bathroom sink, very noisy, broken lamps. Fire alarm went off at 730 until the police/fire dept showed up. This place was awful.

Booked 2 rooms. They were both beautifully decorated and very clean We are moving our son across the country and he has a cat. There was no problem with getting a room, unlike other hotel chains we had dealt with. The full breakfast was wonderful.

Stopped in on the way to Denver for a break...nice safe place...nice staff...walking distance to an ihop...right off freeway and close to a gasstation...breakfast was ok...beds were comfy and the room was clean ...I will visit again

I try to choose BW's because I travel with my dog. I appreciate the reasonable pet fee, and the ground floor rooms when available. The hotel staff at Hayes went above and beyond to make my stay perfect, especially Garrett....and I think it was his first day. BW, you have a winner with him!

Totally adequate hotel, no frills, cheap. We are traveling with a dog, so it's reasonable they put us in the "dog wing." What is not reasonable is that we have been up ALL night listening to a dog barking next door. It's not their fault. But it would help to have a policy that you can't leave your dog alone while you go out ALL NIGHT.

I am so sorry that you did not get a good nights rest. Pet owners are not to leave their pets alone in the room for this very reason. If you ever have this problem at any hotel please call the front desk and the pet owner will be contacted. Again I am sorry that this happened.

We stayed one night after a wedding the room was clean well decorated the bed was very comfortable the staff and the service there was wonderful.. thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. Lots of variety to choose from.

We traveled from Tucson AZ to North Carolina, and Kansas along with this hotel were the best spots on the trip. We stayed an extra night in this hotel just because it was so nice, clean, quiet, and friendly, and the breakfast was the best BW breakfast we had on the trip. We stayed at 2 BW Plus hotels, this one made the "Plus" very tangible. It was me, my wife and 5 kids, and we were all happy. Thanks, Butterfield!

Our stay was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The desk employee gave us dinner suggestions and helped us with directions. It was a full warm breakfast and we used the pool and hot top.

We reserved an ADA King at this BW Plus, and when we arrived, NO ADA Room reserved, just a regular King. We travel with a wheelchair and standard room is NOT an option. No other ADA rooms available either. We were out in the cold and all they could say is they booked it while their system was down. REALLY? We went over every detail and need with the gal who set it up and she never warned us about the system. We had to find another hotel and are still VERY upset. Long time BW rewards member …

The hotel is just off of I-70. The room was nicely decorated and larger that I expected. The staff was very friendly. There is a Cracker Barrel within walking distance. Nice ourdoor patio to relax after a log day's drive.

Hays Kansas has been a regular stop for us for many years. This was the first time we have stayed at this particular hotel. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Hallways and elevators could have been alot cleaner!! The cookies and popcorn in the lobby was a nice treat for the kids.. Tm not real impressed that the prices keep going up :-(

This hotel is rated very highly, and it is priced to match- $179/night for a central Kansas hotel. However, very few of my expectations have been met during this stay. The hotel itself is fairly well-kept, the room is spacious and seems to be clean. The room furnishings are ok, though not "brand new" as mentioned in other reviews. All this is ok- it's not a luxury hotel, and I did not expect it to be lavish. The problems are related to being able to access basic entertainment options. The television channel selection is poor- I can't even access TNT- due to a PIN code being required to watch many of the channels. I spoke with the front desk person (the only person on duty, as I'm sure they're short-staffed, so not her fault), but she could not help with this problem and did not offer to find an answer for me. There is no access to streaming services or pay-per-view movies through the TV. I expected to be able to stream Netflix on my laptop or phone via WiFi, but the internet connection is terrible, dropping my connection every 3 or 4 minutes, whether I'm using phone or laptop. I'm surprised that I'm even able to write this review given the awful connection. If you need any media beyond basic cable to keep you occupied during your stay in Hays, I'd recommend finding a different hotel. Wish I hadn't paid so much for a place to get a night's rest- don't trust the trip advisor rating of "fabulous" for this one.

We stayed here in July 2021. While checking in, a young man came down and said he caught a guy coming out of his room. A terrified woman then came down a minute later saying a guy tried to get in her room. The front desk staff (Brandy) was fabulous. Called the police, remained calm. Asked us politely to leave and come back once the man was gone for our safety. Indicated that the guy had been there earlier that day too doing the same thing. Once the police came and took the guy, the room we had assigned had a broken door latch. Went back down and got a new room and Brandy was very sweet, but a guy breaking into rooms and then getting a room with a broken door tells me that the hotel is not very secure. Nice staff but won't be back. After a week on an air mattress due to moving, was so excited to have a real bed and now spending my night behind a barricaded door worried the guy would get near my kids. Should have just gone to another hotel but it is almost 11PM with two young kids. The fact the guy was here earlier also indicated to me that even if taken by police, temporary detainment. The actual room was large and clean but safety concerns cannot be forgotten. Kudos to Brandy for a positive attitude during a crappy time, she deserves a raise for her handling of the situation and disgruntled guests.

I am so sorry that you were scared to be in our hotel. This has never happened before and we added security measures to make sure it does not happen again.

The motel is old and the carpet needs to be replaced, but was reasonably clean otherwise. The carpet in the room had black tar-looking stains and there was a large wet spot when I checked in. Check in was at 4, but my room wasn't ready until 430. The front desk was very nice and apologetic. The breakfast is loaded with carbs, lots of pastries and breads, but minimal protein options. Overall, acceptable stay. Staff was friendly, hotel was not overly dirty, but could really use some updating. The room was very large and the bed very comfortable, but had weird square pillows that look more like throw pillows than sleeping pillows. Did not use the pool as it was right off the lobby with large windows all the way around like a fishbowl.

We stayed in the Best Western hotel in Hays for three nights and were double charged for our stay - $570 and $495. The room was nice but the manager has not returned my call or credited me for the overcharge. I have called several times and may have to fill out a police report if the overcharge is not rectified soon.

We had a nice stay with our two girls. They swam in the indoor pool for hours. It was a long drive and they needed to swim off some energy. The motel is a little dark in design. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. Road construction is underway outside the motel so it is a bit difficult to maneuver to find a place to eat.

We have stayed at this Butterfield BW numerous times in recent years. But sometime has changed and this hotel is broken. The wifi was broken. The shower head was broken. Something is broken in breakfast prep when the meager choices were mostly gone by 8 am. Something in the office is broken as they could not print a receipt at checkout. For what they charge, I should be due a refund, but that capability is probably broken too.

Dark room from lighting aspect. Internet was down, no compensation. Ordor in room, dark and dreary rooms. Price is way too high for the quality of this hotel. Electrical in room did not meet today's techical needs.

Moldy/funky smell when you walk in. Feels like an older property. Limited staffing. Poor breakfast. No towels at the pool. Bad internet/WiFi. Couldn't get extra bedding and towels, likely just due to how short staffed they seemed to be. Skip this property.

This BW was not up to usual standards. Higher rate for smaller city and breakfast was very sub par. Not enough towels in room, no soap and meager breakfast. Not a covid thing because we stayed at a Best Western in Missouri the night before and breakfast was night and day there. Appears this team is lazy .

I would like to apologize for the issues encountered during your last stay. Our hotel is under new management. I hope that you will give us another try in the futyure.

Our car broke down on I-70 about 1:30 am during a return trip to our home. We ended up at a really bad Days Inn in Hays. The next day we located an auto mechanic but needed to find another hotel. We chose the Best Western and crossed our fingers. The Best Western was fantastic. My grand-daughters were very happy and slept well. Everything was clean and the room smelled fresh.

This is a good place to stay for the night when traveling through. Great staff, very clean, quiet, and easy to get to. The WiFi is a tad sketchy, but everything else about this property is just fine. Plenty of good restaurants nearby, as well.

The bed was comfortable but that was the only plus. Grease stains in multiple spots (black ones and not small!)on carpet. Pink mildew in shower. Mini refrigerator had someone else's old food in it. I would not stay here again and we typically like Best Westerns.

We booked this hotel for one night on a long trip to home because it had good reviews. I'm sure there are good rooms here, but ours was not. Hotel was very full and Sophia at the front desk was awesome. She found us a room to accommodate 3 of us and our pet. Unfortunately, our room was severely lacking in cleanliness. There was something brown and round smashed into the carpet in several spots near one bed. The curtain pulls had something gross and sticky running down them. The bathroom had brown spots on the wall. The one bed sunk low when you sat on it - though it was more comfortable to sleep on than one would have expected from such an old/flimsy mattress. There were no poop bags in the dog walking area (empty containers). Decor old and yucky looking. Others have obviously not experienced these issues, so I'll assume most rooms are not in such bad shape. We did tell front desk and Sophia offered to move us. But given how difficult it was to find a room the first time, it was late evening and we were only there one night, we declined and just threw towels over the rug spots and used wipes to open the curtains. Staff great - room not. I would not chance getting such a dirty room again even though I've found Best Westerns to typically be good.

Reserved two rooms a month in advance for college graduation in Hays, Ks. My rates were 128.00 each. When we checked in the night of May 14th the manager Courtney tried to charge me 250.00 for each room. She lied numerous times during our interaction about rates and reservations. She was rude, disrespectful, and provided my family with the worst hotel experience I have had.

We reserved a room for 1 night for a family funeral (a week ahead of time). When we arrived the front desk told us no room was reserved for us but that they had one available, which we took. Upon checking our credit card later we saw we were billed for 2 nights. I called the location and was told by the manager that our reservation had been for a different date and that we would be charged for both nights, since we didn't cancel the reservation for that date. I told her the reservation was for the date we arrived, but she refused to cancel the charge for the other night, which was an error on the hotel's part. I am now challenging this charge through our credit card company, but it should not have been necessary. So if you don't receive any confirmation number, insist on one when the reservation is made.

I have reviewed the reservation and all of the modifications made to it and it does show the email confirmation of the reservation successfully sent. We do have a 24 hour cancellation policy in place and we do charge a no show fee a total of one room night and tax for holding a room for you and not being able to sell it to another potential guest.

The pool was a great addition. The bed was very comfortable and I had a nice relaxing stay in the hotel. Service was great and I love that I could get drinks at any time I wanted. My family enjoyed the stay as well while I was attending to business.

The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious. The location is near I-70 and some new stores and fast food restaurants on the north side of town. It is nice without pretense and what I hoped for! The dining area is clean and bright. No issues!

We travel with a Service Dog and never have had an issue staying at a Best Western, they are very accommodating on the rooms location. If we are on ground floor they place us near an exit, if we are on a higher floor they have us in a room near the elevator. The rooms are well maintained and comfy. This location had carpeting in the room, which was a surprise as other locations have gone to hard flooring. Staff was pleasant and we slept well.

My family and I came to stay at the best western plus butterfield inn in Hays KS for 2 nights. The location is great, very nice spot for a hotel, the exterior is falling apart, lights are out everywhere, siding is missing and the parking lot is unsafely dark at night. None of the parking lot lights work here. Trash and dog poop are strewn throughout the property. Inside- the blond woman that checked us in was very plesant, welcoming and warm, she has a lot of knowledge about the property and city, gave me some coupons for dinner as well. However, she looked very unenthused with having to work next to a dog that seemed highly untrained, i believe they said its name was Bailey? I was told it is the General Managers dog and it seems very unprofessional of her to bring a dog to work, the front desk girl said something about her being there every day. It was going crazy when we would come up to the front, (trying to get on the counter and pulling papers down with it) as I looked past the front desk into the back i could see tons of stains on the carpet not sure if it is from the dog or not but it looks very unplesant. The front desk smells unplesant as well, like a mix of dirty dog and urine. Inside the hotel past the front desk, apperance was not as expected, coffee and juice all over the floors when i came in around 2pm, lights out and missing everywhere, hallways were not very clean, every window in the hotel has smudges from children and their hands. There seems to be a shortage of pillows and towels at the property. We only had ONE wash cloth in each room i have, we booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Asked for more pillows in the late evening and had been told there are no extras. I will not stay at this property again. I wish i remembered the girls name that checked me in as she deserves a reward for what she seems to have to deal with.As soon as i was checked in she went out and finished moping the halls and started tidying up the place, it looked like she has had no help cleaning the two days i have been here. I was walking around the hotel taking in the sights it seemed she was the only one out and cleaning besides the housekeepers up on second and third floor. First floor smells terribly of urine, I understand this is a pet friendly hotel and i do not have pets but it just seemed way too overwhelming of a smell. Unsanitary if you ask me. Stains in all the hallways as well. As for COVID-19, the blond girl was the only one i personally saw sanitize during our stay, prepackaged food is okay, thankful for the coupons i recieved at the front. I still have one more night of a stay and we thought about leaving but i guess we will just deal, but we wont come back.

This hotel was absolutely perfect. It accepted our 2 dogs, nice, clean over sized room, bed was very comfortable to our liking, wall thermostat so we could set our temperature, nice size bathroom and well lit outside so when I took my dogs out in middle of night I did not feel afraid.

First thing that I noticed about this hotel (and the town) covid means nothing to them. We saw more people without masks than with. This does make it a bit uncomfortable when you are following the rules and they are not. Our daughter arrived before us so she checked in for us. The room was large with 2 beds (I know I asked for queen beds but these seemed like double). We had to turn the heater off due to turning it down to 62 and it still didn't cool down. It was HOT in that room which was really uncomfortable. We could have turned on the AC I guess but I have a problem with turning on AC in the winter and when there is snow on the ground. The pillows need to go to the trash. They were AWFUL. Lumpy and very uncomfortable. When we finally fell asleep (around 2am) we slept okay. The room was quiet. Check out was a breeze. we did grab a bottle of water but went elsewhere for breakfast. Not a fan of the grab and go breakfasts.

We had to make an unexpected stay due to bad weather/road conditions. We were able to easily get a room. Property and room was nice and clean. There were several selections for grab and go breakfast. The desk clerks were very friendly.

Don't stay here. They are not enforcing pandemic guidelines / rules. People without masks are allowed in common areas / elevators etc. Staff were completely unresponsive / hostile to concerns. Made no effort to enforce mask wearing rules.

When I arrived at my room I was hit with strong smoking odor. Then as I reached for the bathroom door handle, it fell off in my hand. I took pictures and went dirctly to the Front Desk. I was offered a different room, but declined. I was using my BW Gift cards and had a $75.00 discount besides having just driven 400 miles. The noise started about 9PM and door slamming and children talking until about 2AM. Beautiful facility on the outside needs some painting inside.

Totally enjoyed this location. Our 4th lodging choice on our trip (our first Best Western this trip). We stayed at a Days Inn, Hilton Garden snd YMCA of the Rockies. By far this was the best of our trip and would definitely stay here again. Spacious room and bathroom. Actual working and convenient ice machines and vending machines - seems some hotels are using Covid as an excuse not to have operating ice machines available which is ridiculous. Also some places are using Covid as an excuse to not have any breakfast options. Best Western gives you options of personal size box cereal or packets of oatmeal, carton of milk, individually packaged muffins, individually wrapped pieces of fruit, prepared and individually wrapped breakfast burrito/wraps that can be microwaved. They have gone the extra mile to still offer their clients innovative methods to provide choices to their clients while staying Covid compliant.

Stayed overnight with our two small dogs. Great friendly staff, comfortable, clean and quiet. Plenty of grassy area to walk your pets too. We will be back on our return trip. Thank you for providing a nice pet friendly hotel!

I stay at BW's because they're relatively inexpensive, I'm a member and they're quite convenient for road trips. This one isn't bad. Comfortable, clean and right next to I-70 in Hays, KS. Staff are friendly and there are several restaurants close by and a gas station next door. Perfect for trips on the Interstate.

We always stay here when visiting our son at FHSU. Love it is aways clean and at a good price. Indoor pool, free breakfast and fast free internet Bed are comfortable. Hotel is quite. Always know it will be a good stay.

While traveling to CO from KCMO this is a great resting spot. The hotel is clean. I am very picky when it comes to hotels and cleanliness. We only stopped in for less than 10 hours, but will stay again when traveling.

there are other options in Hays that are newer and better. Several at competitive rates. The overall condition of the hotel shows a staff that works hard and cares, but an ownership and management that is falling short. Late night/early morning fire alarm (and subsequent evacuation) was particularly unwelcome.

I stayed here one night. Room was OK except for the large black bug floating in the toilet. When I was getting ready to leave another large black bug was crawling on the rug. Needless to say I left very quickly. I did I inform the desk. Hopefully they called the exterminator.

I canceled my reservation online. Never received an email and still was charged a full nights stay. Hotel won't refund my money. Tried talking to the hotel and Best western corporate and got absolutely no where. I'll never make reservations for this hotel branch again. Thanks for nothing, Best Western hotel in Hays, Kansas.

This hotel is very short staffed in housekeeping and maintainance and it shows. Rooms, elevator, lobby, and outdoor areas dirty and in poor repair. The roof is falling down at entrance. The tires were flat on all luggage carts and trash overflowing. Gym machines broken. The prices are very high especially considering the poor quality. However the manager at this hotel deserves a medal. Despite all of these problems, she stayed night and day working to correct anything and everything she could even with a full hotel. So my suggestion would be do not stay here, but if you do, be kind, for she is doing all she can. We stayed three days and would have moved but all hotels in the area were full. Whoever owns this hotel should be ashamed of themselves to leave the staff without help.

My family and I are moving on military orders and this hotel was the perfect place to stop for the night. Everyone was very friendly and they were keeping everything sanitized from the counter to the pens to the credit card machines. It would be tough having to work with the coronavirus going around, but I was happy to see the extra precautions they were taking to insure the safety of not only themselves, but the guests as well.

We stay here several times a year and have found it to be a reliable option. Clean with pleasant service. There is buffet breakfast with better than average options. It is located close to I-70 but we did not hear any highway noise. We would stay again.

Stopped without a reservation, turned out there was a state high school wrestling event in town, but it had been the final day and many were already headed home. They had rooms available but wanted well over $200 for a standard room for one person, normally waaaay under half as much. The clerk wasn't very friendly, and stated that the entire town was full, which turned out to not be true. I usually like this chain, but found the price gouging to be unconscionable, the surly desk clerk just made it worse... I drove on to a different property.

We had reserved a room at a much cheaper hotel and it was so bad we couldn't stay there. We headed to the Best Western as we usually have a good experience. Even though it was last minute and early in the day they were able to accommodate us with just the right room. I would stay here anytime in the area.

The central fire alarm in all rooms activated at 530am due to an employee burning breakfast fare in the hotel kitchen. This was 4 hours before I expected to awaken. N ok sleep after that. Very dissatisfied with the response from the Hotel Management.

I travel a great deal for business throughout Kansas. I have stayed at this Hotel a few times, and have been satisfied with the experience overall. The rooms have been clean and the bed comfortable, nothing to complain about.

We broke down traveling on I-70 with our two dogs. We asked the tow truck driver if he knew which hotels were pet friendly. He informed us that the Best Western Plus did and provided a 15% discount for those who break down and have to stay in Hays. The people working at the time, I believe it was Elinda and Courtney, were awesome. They got us a room quickly and gave us a couple different phone numbers for public transportation. The rooms were very clean and spacious. They mattresses they have are so comfortable I had to ask what brand they were as I would consider buying one for home. If I am ever out this way again and need a place to stay, I will make sure to stay here again!

This is a great hotel to stop at. This was about our 5th time stopping here and just as amazing as it was the last time. Christian, at check in, was very informative and recommend a brewery in the downtown area for dinner. Courtney, at check out, was very friendly and made sure we had a great stay. Elinda, the General Manager, has a great staff and needs to keep up everything she is doing!

The rooms were great the the beds are comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good as well. They have a build your own breakfast burrito some days and that was really neat, I have never seen that before!

This is probably the best hotel we have stayed at on your 15 day trip. You all need to keep up the great work! The people at check in and check out were very friendly! The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. The General Manager was walking around the breakfast room talking to all of the guests in there and that is something you rarely see. Also, the rooms were very large and clean. We will make this our go to stop anytime we are traveling through!

Very nice, clean and spacious room. Virginia at the front desk was awesome. Very friendly, polite and professional. Great location right off of I-70, easy off/on access. Would definitely stay here again.

We selected this hotel because they blocked off a group of rooms for our son's wedding. We reserved 3 rooms for the Friday before the wedding and 4 rooms for the night of the wedding with one room being for the Bride and Groom, we reserved these 2 months before the wedding. Friday we tried to check in at 2:45 (yes I know check in is 3 but as long as is takes to check in we figured 15 min would not be a problem) we were told they couldn't guarantee our rooms would be together if we checked in early so we waited. When we got checked in our rooms were clean and our rooms were all together. We did however have someone in our group witness a mouse in the swimming pool and when they informed the desk and the manager came they didn't have a skimmer to remove it. Saturday we needed to check in/pay for the Bride/Grooms room before we left for the wedding but were told they couldn't tell us what the room number was and they would have to check in when they arrived for the night. This is when the chaos ensued, when the Bride/Groom arrived at the Hotel at 11:30 pm they were given a room and a key, they went up to leave their stuff and the room was occupied. They returned to the desk as they were going out and were told they would have a room when they returned. When my husband and I made it to the Hotel at 12:30 and found out the Bride/Groom did not have a room we were not happy. They desk gave my husband a room/key he went up to check and the room was dirty. He returned to the desk and the young man gave him another room/key and apologized. When my husband checked on this room he walked into an occupied room (this could have been sooooo bad). He returned to the front desk not very happy and was given another room/key which he refused to take until the desk person checked which he did and said all was ok. Husband went to check and the key didn't work. So back to the front desk got the key re-scanned and checked the room and all was good. Then the Bride/Groom arrived around 2:30 and while trying to get into the room someone opened the door and asked if they could help them . . so this room is now occupied. Son went back to the front desk and was finally given a room/key that was empty. How does this happen????? How do you NOT know which rooms are occupied and which are NOT???? This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! How can you NOT tell us what room we will be in, even if it's not clean yet???? The total lack of organization completely ruined this stay and with the amount we spent this SHOULD NOT have happened.

I am sorry that you had an issue. I sincerely apologize.

I've never had this happen nor have I ever heard of this happening! At around 1:30 in the morning someone unlocked our door and walked right in! I woke up, immediately noticed that this guy shouldn't be there and yelled at him. The man was as startled as I was and apologized and mentioned he had just came from the front desk and that they had told him that this was his room. After the man had left I called the front desk and told them what had happened. I was told that some mistakes had been made that night and that the log was wrong so they gave the other guest the same room as us!!! How does this happen??? What if I had thought that this was an intruder and things got physical?!?! I can't believe the amount of negligence that must have been present to allow something like this to happen!!! We didn't sleep the rest of the night.

Lovely hotel. Clean, cookies on arrival. It snowed during the night. The snow was removed. I overheard the manager telling the desk clerk that the cancellation policy would be amended due to the weather. They were very considerate that the weather would impact travel plans.

We were there in the middle of a snow storm so we're very interested in the local weather report but the tv was not working. We were told it was due to the cable provider. Normally this would not bother us as much but we are elderly and nervous about the road conditions. I'm afraid this affected my overall view of the hotel.

Loved this hotel. Rooms were big, modern and spacious with a little sitting area. High ceilings made the room feel bigger. Room to spread out. The beds, sheets and pillows were very comfortable. The hot breakfast was very good. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend stopping here .

This was a very pleasant stay. We were greeted warmly, our room was nice and clean and we especially enjoyed the breakfast. Best Western offers a hot breakfast and this one had potatoes along with eggs and sausage. Their coffee is excellent too.

The rooms are spacious and the staff is friendly and helpful. Sign up with the rewards program to get points towards free rooms. You get a little snack bag when you check in without using points. The indoor pool is heated and the hottub seats quite a few. The hotel is in close proximity to fast food, dine-in restaurants, and Wal-Mart. Its also located right next to I-70 for easy access.

I am a Best Western Rewards member and have stayed in their chain of hotel in many areas. I found this one disappointing. Needs updating especially the plumbing, color scheme and pool area. The breakfast was just ok. With the newer hotel offerings in town they will start losing business if they don't update for the price they are offering.

The people were great. Very friendly. Loved my dog. They are pet friendly which is why we chose this hotel. The location was great. Basically, across the street from a Walmart, and close to restaurants and museums. The room was large, and our location was perfect. We were put very close to the pet area. We were given a handicap accessible room (neither of us are handicapped), so that may be why the room was so large. We had just a few issues. It smelled musty...like it was a smoking room, or they had had water issues. The TV was not internet friendly, which isn't terrible, but the remote didn't allow us to change the source so we couldn't use the HDMI port to hook up our computer. Breakfast is included, and it was only ok. Lastly, our key card stopped working the day before we checked out. We both had to visit the desk 3 times. That was a pain.

Loved the stay here. We stayed on our way to vacation spot and then on our way back. The front desk clerks were very nice and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, lots of variety. Great stay!!!

On a recent trip, my wife and I stayed here on two different nights and the staff was most accommodating and professional. They helped us with unloading our car and made sure the room was as we had requested. The room was on the first floor and easy to access. The bathroom was very accessible, both the shower, the toilet and the sink--I use a wheelchair. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, a nice choice of food and they had coffee which my wife enjoyed. I found a new choice of cereals by combining granola and Cheerios into a single bowl--try it. We had two very restful nights and would gladly stay here again.

The lobby stank of old rotten food, the room smelled like musty dirt. The bed was hard, pillows lumpy. The carpet was filthy (I think that's why the room smelled so bad) This used to be a nice hotel to stay at but not anymore.

Impressed with a hotel pool that was actually comfortable, instead of freezing cold. The kids were so thrilled and had a great time playing.The breakfast was a nice mix of cold and warm foods. I would've liked a larger variety of fruits..all they had were apples and a couple bananas.

A lot of noise from adjoining room and the AC was very noisy! We had terrible allergies in the room and not sure what caused it but suspicioned dog and cats had been in room. The price we paid was very high for the quality of the Hotel, High price and old Hotel.

Hotel was pricey, but having a clean room is essential to me! I have stayed at various hotels and this one was one of the good ones.Room was large. Bed was comfy. Shower was great. I highly recommend staying here.

This was an impromptu trip. The Best Western was convenient off the major highway. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The free breakfast was very good with lots of options as well as in a very nice room.

Very nice new hotel. The walls must be thick, because us girls were up laughing and talking until the wee hours of the morning with no complaints. Decent breakfast. The front desk person when we checked in wasn't too pleasant and wouldn't really smile. But other than that, great visit!

This hotel had the usual comforts for this price range. However, breakfast was a disappointment. There were no bananas or yogurt. We took a 2 week vacation and stayed in 2 Best Westerns, a Holiday Inn and some family-owned establishments. Although average, this hotel was our least favorite. The beds were better at the other chain hotels we stayed in. There are so many choices in Hayes, KS. On our return trip we stayed at the Holiday Inn and it was much better at a lower cost. However, if I didn't have options, I would stay at the Best Western again. It certainly was not a bad stay.

Thank you for your comments. We do have a yogurt machine in our breakfast room, but it is often missed. We are certainly always ready to assist our guests in finding what they are looking for. Bananas are always a standard on our breakfast bar. I'm sorry that there were no bananas out when you were in the breakfast room. I appreciate your comments and we will use them to train our employees in the future.

We pulled off the road in Hays as we neared the end of our road trip. We had a nice room with a great shower. The beds were comfortable. The third floor room was quiet. Everything was in good order. The breakfast was satisfying. It was a treat for us after a long drive.

Pros King room was nice size and seemed to be clean. Very comfortable bed with layered bedding. When I got hot during the night, I could take a layer off and be comfortable. Location was convenient. Cons I killed 2 small bugs in the bathroom. A very shrill noise sounded at 6:15 am which was irritating after being on the road 14 hrs the previous day. It sounded again as we were packing to leave. When I asked about it, I was told they were working on the fire alarm. Breakfast was average. I would expect more for the price

I would like to thank you for staying at the Best Western Plus Butterfield Inn. Our housekeeping staff works very hard to ensure that the rooms are clean and ready for each guest. Unfortunately, with all the rain, we have had an influx of beetles. They do not like the water outside! I will pass your comments on to our maintenance staff. I am also sorry that the fire alarm sounded. I believe that the power went off and when it comes back up, it will sound a shrill alarm. That is how we know that it is working. With all the recent storms in our area, there have been some problems with several of our systems, not just our fire alarms. We work diligently to make sure that our guests are not inconvenienced and I am sorry that you were. I hope that you will come and stay with us again and hopefully, we will have calm weather! Again, thanks for staying with us. I hope that you will come back again.

My husband and I stayed here on our way home from a trip out west. The hotel was great with very clean, large rooms, great staff, and wonderful breakfast Good selection of restaurants nearby. ! Definitely would stay here again!

Great room, wonderful service. I try to always stay at Best Western Plus when I travel. Beautiful location. Cheerful staff. Close to interstate and placed to eat. I will stay there again when in town.

My wife and I decided to stay while traveling along I-70 and this was a great hotel to stay at. We got a great room for a fair price at the last minute. The room itself was clean and spacious. The staff members were friendly and helpful. We were satisfied with everything. The hotel is easily accessible from I-70 at Exit 159. We would definitely stay here again

Room was very nicely appointed. Desk and chair were very comfortable. The two sitting chairs in front of the TV were correctly placed and comfortable. TV worked fine. Bed was very comfortable. Shower pressure, which is very important to me, was excellent. I will stay there again.

Really nice breakfast (when we were there on a Sunday anyway.) Omelets that you could top with grilled onions, peppers, & jalapenos, cheese, & salsa, sausage patties, and biscuits and gravy, waffles, etc. Gracious, courteous staff. I loved that you can have constant fan with their HVAC, and I enjoyed a tub, not just a shower. Appreciated their recommendation of Gella's restaurant!

It was a nice place to stay. Can't say it was the best Best Western we ever stayed at but at least it was clean. Wish they had a restaurant on site. Staff was very nice and the water and cookie was a nice gift at check-in. Breakfast was good as well.

My husband and I were in the process of driving across the country for a move. We stayed at this property one night and had a terrific experience. I travel a fair amount for work, so I'm in hotels a lot. I'm not someone who has to stay at a super ritzy hotel to feel comfortable. I've stayed in very expensive hotels that were utter crap and also in more budget-friendly places that were wonderful. The rooms at this Best Western Plus were some of the nicest I've seen in this price range. We were in a first floor room and it had nice, high ceilings. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spacious and the water pressure was good. The room was exceptionally clean. My family and I always try to stay at places that serve a free breakfast. This property had quite an assortment of foods to choose from. It was a busy morning that day but the staff kept everything stocked and tidy. The food was decent too and hey, it's free! This is a pet-friendly property as well. We saw quite a few dogs during our stay but the hotel and surrounding grounds were spotless. And one more nice thing - they have refreshments upon check-in: lemonade, water, and some delicious cookies. It's the little things! :) They also have to go bags of snacks for Rewards Members. I would most definitely stay here again. Thanks again to the staff at the Best Western Plus in Hays - you all rock!

Worst night ever. I paid $160 to get no sleep. There was a baseball tournament in town and the noise level was out of control. The staff did nothing to help. I will go out of my way to not stay at BW again

We stayed in a two bed room with three adults and a small dog. The room was quite spacious with plenty of room to move around. The beds were high quality and comfortable. The breakfast was above average for comparable hotels. Comfortable, quiet, and a friendly staff all adds up to five stars.

My family stopped as we headed home from vacation. Large front lobby, cookies, friendly front desk staff. This hotel allows dogs, which is good because we had our dog with us. I didn't see any other dogs but we only stayed one night. Although it's a little older, it was neat and clean. (A couple of areas could have used another once over) The rooms were large and included a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, ironing board with iron. There is an Applebees within walking distance and a Mexican restaurant. Overall it was quiet and good for a short stay.

Traveling back home from Colorado and needed a place to stay overnight somewhere in the vicinity of Hays. Checked online reviews and saw that this hotel was highly rated and had good rates. I made a reservation and we arrived around 11:00 PM. The hotel clerk was very pleasant and we got checked in quickly. The room was very pleasant with a king sized bed and a small sitting area as well as a small refrigerator. The room was very clean and the bathroom had a good shower that was also clean. We had breakfast the next morning. It was standard hotel free fare but we noticed that the woman working there was very conscientious about trying to keep food items supplied and cleaning tables when people left. We would stay there again if traveling in the area.

After a long day on the road this hotel was a welcome site. The guest rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and very clean. No issues or problems with the room at all. The pet policy is very accommodating and with many folks having four legged family members this location is a great stop! Plenty of places to eat in the local are (1/2 mile really) so no issues there. Despite being right next to I-70 road noise wasn't noticeable at all. Breakfast was very good and my kids loved it! Nothing to complain about at all. Would highly recommend it to the weary traveler!

We chose this hotel because it had an indoor pool and a hot tub. The hotel was very clean and remarkable quiet -- I was a little concerned when our room was directly across from the ice machine, but I never heard it once. The staff was friendly and able to give options for dinner, and the breakfast was constantly stocked throughout the time window so the food was hot and fresh. The location of the hotel is right off I-70 so it is easily accessible. My husband and I agreed that we would definitely return.

Only complaint is price $107.00 became higher once we booked for a family reunion to $134.00 Should have jumped on the on line price right away before booking family reunion price change. Hotel was very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast that was included was a step above the usual.

You are woken at the crack of dawn when your neighbors decide to get up. It was horrible to hear the people next door speak about how badly they had slept when you are woken by their voices at 6:30am. They turned on their tv and didn't turn it off until they left the room at 9am. This hotel appears fine, but the underneath is missing. They skimped on the materials such as insulation between rooms, then put their money into decorating the rooms and public areas. Decor does not lend itself to a good night's sleep. I was also greeted by layers of filthy marks on the window when I made the mistake of opening the drapes in the morning. It made me wonder what other messes were hidden. I had planned to enjoy the pool and relax before checking out, but opted to leave as quickly as I could get my things packed in my car. The only thing I could recommend on this hotel was the express checkout.

The room was very comfortable, with two stuffed chairs and pleanty of room. There were cookies when we checked in and there were bags with fruit and bottled water for those who didn't take the time to eat the breakfast in the morning. Since it was only 1 night we had no complaints about this hotel. It was clean and amenities were very good. the breakfast area was clean and well stocked and the kitchen staff was polite and attentive. A very specific compliment is to addition of the lift in the pool for handicap accessibility. Great idea there. I would stay at this hotel again.

The Best Western at Butterfield Inn was a very wonder place to stay. Was in town for more meetings. The hotel was close to where I needed to be in Hays and was very easy to find. The service and staff was, as always, impeccable The room was huge...I think it might have been a suite as it was larger then the other BW+ rooms I have been in. There was an actual couch in this room.. The bed was huge and very comfortable, though longer pillows might be in order. I would also look into replacing the cable TV with a Dish Network set up like the other BW+s that I have been in have. The Breakfast was very good and there was a lot of it. Thanks to the staff for a great stay and will make it a habit of coming back when I'm in Hays, KS

Taking a quick weekend trip to KC for some BBQ. Our halfway point is Hays, Kansas. Four and half hours later we stopped at the BW in Hays. Front desk staff friendly and cheerful. Room was surprisingly large and very clean. Will stay again.

We couldn't have asked for a better stay .we have travelled all day in bad weather with two young kids and stopped here for the night. The front desk was so polite and helpful. She got us a room right away and with a great price .The room was big so the kids could run around a little and it was very clean. Breakfast was so good and had so many options. Check out was easy .They made a bad day a great and relaxing night .

We always love coming back to the Best Western Butterfield in Hays, Ks. We live out of town but still have family in Hays and so we know we will always have a comfortable place to stay when coming up to visit! The employees always are very helpful and accommodating!

This was a nice quiet clean pet friendly hotel. It was nice to be next to the IHOP since we arrived so late and needed to eat. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We had our 2 dogs and they put us near the door to the outside so when we took them out it was convenient. The room was clean and didn't smell like other pets. Will definitely stay there again!

Spacious room and comfortable bed and bedding. Good breakfast with both hot and cold choices. Lovely reception with efficient checkin. Great value for the price! Great choice for a night during our roadtrip. Overall lovely experience.

This hotel has easy access to I-70. The people at the front desk could not have been nicer. Very helpful. Our room was quite large with a sitting area, nice furniture, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. We had a dog friendly room and it was very clean with no strange smells from other dogs. The bed and pillows were comfortable. It was quiet in the hotel and we felt safe there. The breakfast was good too. No complaints here.

This is a VERY clean, VERY comfortable hotel!! We didn't make the breakfast which ends at 9, so we ate at the IHOP directly behind the hotel after we checked out. it is close to Applebee's, other restaurants, and also Walmart. The front desk staff is always very accommodating, and we LOVE staying here!!

This hotel has lots going for it. Handicapped accessible room near entrance, two queen-sized beds, two (count ‘em, two) very comfortable easy chairs, modern desk chair. Good breakfast, usual items, plus fresh yogurt machine, tv on ESPN. Good experience; pleasant, helpful front desk.

Staff was rude and never got our room cleaned while we were there. The tub didn't drain while you took a shower so you would stand in water all the time. The room was stuffy and the AC wouldn't come on.

Very professional and caring staff, excellent location, very good breakfast, and excellent overall amenities. Didn't use the pool but it was very clean and well taken care. Would sure stay again when in the area.

I gave 3 stars because our 7 night stay was hit or miss each day. It took 3 room changes, over 3 nights, before we finally got the room we requested. The assistant manager told me, on the second day, that room did not even exist. Imagine my surprise when the room magically appeared! Some of the staff was amazing, some of the staff was not amazing. While we were there, there was a winter storm and the area entering the hotel was NOT ever cleaned or salted, and was icy and dangerous. We had to extend our stay two more days due to the passing of a family member. I assumed the room rate would be the same and we were charged $25, per night, extra. The storm was over, it was not a weekend and the hotel was not booked full. When I tried to talk to the manger, to try to work things out before leaving a review, I was told he/she was in a meeting and would call me back. That never happened. So, you have a good chance of experiencing a great stay or not.

We stayed here one night on long road trip with the dog. The room was very spacious and was clean. The room also had a nice little “living” area which was nice after a long day on road. The hotel has certain rooms that are dog friendly; our room smelled clean and no odor of past pets. Also, they gave our dog a bag of dog treats when we arrived. Property and grounds were well kept as well and hot tub was actually hot. The negative during our stay was our tv in the room; every channel had a blurry projection. Also we weren't huge fans of the breakfast as the biscuits were pretty hard but we know plenty of other people like it. Overall we would stay here again if passing through.

We had intended to breeze through this area until we were informed that I-70 was closed due to blizzard conditions. We booked the room online on the mobile app and were lucky enough that the room was ready. It was 11:30am. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool and rose early to continue our trip the next day. I know the front desk staff were overwhelmed due to the high demand of rooms because of the road closure, but our clerk as well as the manager were very courteous and professional. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there and would come back if in the area again. There is a Walmart across the street and many good restaurants close by.

Greeted friendly and immediate when arrived, reserved a room with a king size bed, didn't know it was a suite! Plenty of room and great layout! Clean! Comfortable! Quiet stay! Front desk called a little while after we checked in, just to make sure everything was ok and to see if we needed anything, wow! Good customer service does still exist! Pool (heated, YAY!) and hot tub was great. Conveniently located just off I-70. Breakfast was as expected. Decent price - will definitely stay again

Hotel was easily accessed from freeway. Quick check in and received the welcome gift. Nice bright lobby. Room and bathroom were a good size. Bed was very comfortable too. Hubby enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub for a while. Room was quiet too. Breakfast was good with hot and cold items. Would have been nice to have a clock where you could set the time but no big deal. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Also there's an Applebee's close by.

We've stayed here more than once and the hotel was fine but on this recent trip we had a few disappointments. The toilet had not been flushed. The desk was dirty and the sheets on one bed had numerous stains.

Nothing much to say about this place. It was perfectly decent. Good internet. Nice furniture. Good shower, but hard water. The biggest complaint was that they really needed to clean their windows. Overall not quite enough to warrant 5 stars, but definitely very solidly 4.

Check in and check out was a breeze. There were excellent choices for hot and cold breakfast. This Best Western Plus exceeds my expectations.

The young lady at heck in was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast included potatoes that were actually good. This was just a stopover on a longer trip but I'd stay here again.

We stayed exclusively at BWPlus venues on our recent cross country trip. Even though all had Plus in the name, this place really is. The rooms are a bit larger than normal and there are Two chairs which makes so much more sense than just one desk chair. The heating/cooling system is not just a noisy wall unit which was a blessing for good sleep without the wind tunnel noise. There is a pool and hot tub that both functioned perfectly. While the hot tub could stand to be repainted, the water was hot and much appreciated after too many hours of driving. The breakfast was the current standard which is far more generous and filling than required. Decent coffee as well. Above average for this chain in our opinion.

Very disappointed that the Hotel we usually stay at when passing through Hays did not accept Pets which was surprising considering others did. But we were pleasantly surprised the the BW Plus did. Even more surprised when we discovered how nice the Hotel was. Very nice and very clean despite some bad reviews we saw. They also have a separate and designated pets area for their business!!!!

My wife and I were on an extended road trip and decided to go as far as we felt comfortable with for that day. We made it from Billings Montana to Hays Kansas and were happy to see that there was a Best Western there. As with a majority of the Best Western properties we found them to very accomadating.

The rooms were much larger than usual, there were two very comfortable chairs besides the computer chair, the property looked very new and clean. The accommodations were very nice, breakfast was great

A family emergency forced us to come to Hays. The Butterfield Inn was over accommodating, specifically their airport shuttle service. While there are no close restaurants, they made service available and transportation to the hospital was appreciated.

I've stayed here before, and will again when I'm in Hays. Clean, comfortable, quiet, courteous staff, breakfast was above average (for example most hotel breakfasts the biscuits are petrified, but these were good and fresh), bathroom has adequate lighting and good water flow from the shower (also both rare in hotels), bed comfortable.

We came into town for the races and everything was great. Rooms and building overall were very clean and well kept. Everyone was friendly and the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely stay here next year for the sunflower showdown!

Traveling across country with my dog and found this hotel on AAA.com with 3 diamond ratings. To say that AAA was off the mark is an understatement. When we entered the room, there were numerous flies buzzing around and a couple of unidentified bugs on the wall which we proceed to kill with their free newspaper we received during check-in. They tried to cover up the smell of a pet being in the room with heavy deodorizer. Upon taking a shower, we almost fell due to it being so slippery in the tub and it was a real hazard! The rooms are VERY outdated and this hotel needs a major renovation. Breakfast was the standard fare, and nothing worth writing about. For a Best Western Plus, this was definitely not worth the 3 star rating or high cost, not to mention the $35 pet fee and the high room rate!! This at it's absolute best is a 2 star.

We had gone through a long drive, following an emotionally draining trip to help my son who is battling health issues. We were bringing his two pets home to live with us until, hopefully my son can get better. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful. The accommodations were clean, orderly, and comfortable. We enjoyed a pleasant, healthy breakfast before our morning departure.

I don't expect much from hotels along the interstate, but this one delighted us. From the moment we checked in (late at night, after a long drive) to the breakfast and departure. The staff was friendly and responsive, room was clean, large, and well appointed. Breakfast was very good with a better-than-average selection. We will do this trip again, and from now on, this will be our overnight stop.

We were worried about the lack of hotel choices in Hays, but the people were friendly and gracious and the room was clean except they had used too much room freshener!!! Way too much! Other than that it was fine. Ask for back side, it is quieter.

It's a nice hotel but it's getting dated.. We have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years because Hays is a stopping point on our way to Colorado and the Harley Dealership is a block away. With that said, we might not stay at this Best Western any more because we were told that they didn't have discounts for HOG members..

Although there are several chain motels in Hays, we couldn't imagine any being nicer than this BW. The bed was wonderful with 5 pillows of varying firmness. The a/c was on a wall thermostat so you could set a certain temperature not just warmer or colder. The 9-10' ceiling was accented with crown molding and the bath counter was granite with double sinks. The room was very large and had a small refrigerator, desk, chair and lounge chair with ottoman. Blackout drapes were appreciated. This room would be suitable in size and amenities for a long term stay. Well done!

A really nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was clean with a comfortable bed. We stayed at 8 different hotels on this vacation and this one had the best breakfast. I really like the express checkout since everyone always leaves about the same time.

This is right off of I-70, so it is easy to get to. We checked in at 5pm and got the last single bed room. The rooms were clean, well taken care of. This hotel allows dogs, so there was some barking occurring ( mostly in the morning as the dogs seemed excited to get to go outside), but it was not disruptive. I found the pets to be comforting. The hotel serves a breakfast which was great. The staff was very helpful. All attractions within the city are easy to get to.

I have reported the slipperness of the bath shower surface to this hotel the past two stays with no action taken by BW. I will not stay at this BW again until they contact me this dangerous issue is resolved. Beware of this dangerous issue!!!

I was thankful I made reservations before we started traveling on a Friday as the hotel was packed when we arrived around 9pm. Our room was very nice. I was surprised how quiet the night was given the number of people at the hotel. Breakfast was a bit hectic, but we didn't have to wait long for the hot food options to be replenished.

From arriving to departing, our stay was very comfortable. The staff was very courteous, consistently. The comfortable bed, pillows and linens made it easy for me to drift into deep sleep. My two queen bed room felt a bit like a suite - spacious, with a seating area that was also very comfortable. I definitely recommend this jewel for anyone wanting a good lodging experience. I will definitely stay here again!

Overall the place was okay, the room was large and the bed comfortable. The room overall was clean, but, they didn't take care to do a good job vacuuming. While walking around the room I got a bobby pin that had been mangled by the vacuum and stuck in the carpet jabbed in my foot. My husband went to the front desk and informed them of the incident and to get some first aid -- was offered a cheap band-aid and that was pretty much it. The bobby pin went into my foot about 1/4 of an inch and left a pretty good size puncture wound. My husband ended up going to the local pharmacy to get some Neosporin and some better band-aids to fix my foot. Was not pleased with the way it was handled.

Stayed here on our way back from Colorado. What a refreshing stay after a not so nice experience at the Fairfield inn in Hays on the way through to Colorado. Room was very spacious, clean, comfy beds. Nice hot breakfast included in the price and friendly staff. We will stay here again next time! My grandpa always said you can't beat a Best Western, he was right, as usual!!

Very clean room, A/C worked great. These are the basics that will keep my crabbiness down when it comes to hotels. Breakfast was above average for hotels of this grade. Really pretty good actually! There were a few small negatives that need pointed out though... Elevator was out of service. We were on the third floor so this was kind of inconvenient, but these things happen, we figured it was just bad timing-I assume this isn't typical. Vending machines were also out of order.WiFi was pretty terrible. Tissue box was left with only a couple of tissues in it-kind of nitpicky, but it's the little things that count sometimes and we did book this hotel because it was the highest rated in Hays on TripAdvisor, and for a BW, it wasn't inexpensive. It wasn't a bad stay, but not really worth the money.

I was snowed in here for 2 days back in April on my way back home to Colorado after a Dr. appt. in KC. Luckily, there was an IHOP directly behind the hotel, and an Applebee's down the road, so I ate quickly at the IHOP before the storm hit, and went to Applebee's for take-out for the next day, and kept it in my room fridge. Also, the hotel has a pantry, and I could get drinks. I couldn't leave the hotel at all the next day, and finally was able to head home the 3rd day after I-70 was re-opened. The desk staff, Sierra & Rosie, were AWESOME in checking on me, and giving me assistance. The room was VERY clean & nice, EXCEPT, the lamps needed better light bulbs, the room lightning was horrible!! They use those energy-saving curved bulbs, and they are NOT enough if you want to read or work, so take regular bulbs with you!! Luckily, I had taken a book light. Also, ask for a room without a WEIRD shower, I had an upgrade, but the shower wasn't one I was familiar with, looked like a surfboard mounted on a wall. Ha! But again, the stay was nice, facility was clean & a Walmart just down the road too. NOTE: If you go South under I-70, there are tons more eating places to choose from! I would stay here again!! Hays is a college town.

We were on our way home to Denver from the Cincinnati area. We stayed in four hotel chains - Hilton, Staybridge, Hyatt, and this, Best Western Plus Butterfield Inn. You may be skeptical, but the Best Western was the best of the bunch. Hyatt and Hilton had rooms that were expwnsive, cramped, and lacking amenities. The Staybridge hotel was the worst of the bunch. This Best Western provided us with comfortable surroundings and a great night's sleep. The buffet breakfast was good and had all the staples, plus the "make your own" waffles. Parking was free, as opposed to $18-25, which we paid at the other establishments on our route. I would definitely return to this hotel and use the Best Western rewards program for even greater savings.

Our stay here was great! After getting a late stay in leaving, we arrived pretty late...the front desk was great and overall great stay. The only complaint I have is it would be great to have breakfast served a little later than 9. This is our new stop when driving thru Kansas.

Clean, huge room, quiet, great shower, excellent continental breakfast. We only stayed one night but it was a luxurious haven after the previous couple nights in a bad place. The breakfast had pretty much everything, you name it! Okay, no crepes, but pretty much everything else!

This hotel was great! The room was clean and nice. The size of the room was awesome! Full breakfast items, many choices from pancakes to yogurt, was very impressed with breakfast choices. The pool looked inviting but I forgot my suit! Very nice hotel and conveniently located next to the interstate.

The facility was nice and clean and the parking lot was well let which is nice. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was bigger than expected, and the beds and pillows were soft and comfy. Due to the time of our arrival we were unable to utilize the gym or pool, and we slept past the breakfast cutoff time of 9am(?). Although we missed breakfast, the young lady working that morning did allow my wife to grab a couple bagels for the road even though the kitchen was closed. Working in Texas I am staying in a Best Western Plus and they close breakfast at 1030am and you can still get something if you want while they are cleaning up. It's hard not to judge other facilities against the one I have stayed at for almost 3 months now.

We have stayed here a few times previously, and are planning to stay again in the future. The staff is always helpful. The rooms are spacious, and clean!! We have already recommended this hotel to family, and will continue to do so.

We stayed there during state basketball. The room was a King room and was nice and big. We really liked having two chairs instead of just one. It was fairly quiet which was impressive considering we were staying on the same floor as one of the basketball teams.

Our room was very nice and clean as was the lobby. But entering the elevator the whole thing changed. It was dirty as was the pool area , the hallways and stairways . Cereal littered the hallways and small pieces of trash. The hot tub looked dirty and there was a used bandage on the pool deck. This was the nite we arrived so I gave them benefit of the doubt but checked before we left and all was the same. Yet our room was very nice and clean . Breakfast was the usual , edible but nothing to brag about .

I've stayed here a couple of times now, and it might be my new favorite hotel in Hays. People are great, hotel is very clean, rooms are nice. Everything you would expect, and a good breakfast. Close to a lot of chain restaurants that are now opening in this part of town.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a brief stop in Hays on our trip to Denver. The hotel was easy to access from the interstate, had ample parking, well-lit and very clean. The check-in process was really quick and it is close to a few places to eat. All in all, a great little spot at a great rate! Thanks Best Western Plus.

Bed was comfortable, rooms need updated, staff was nice. Dirty hallways and elevator looks like hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Water pressure great but can't get the slime off after showering weird.

We didn't need a thing--except better pillows. We both had neck aches. Also, they placed us across from the pool and the ice machine! If time, we'd have complained and asked for different rooms and pillows. But other than that, all they provided was impressive. Staff, though, was not particularly friendly.

When traveling cross country during the winter, I like a warm and friendly place to stay for the night. This hotel offered both along with a great hot breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

The was a short stay on Christmas eve so we could get back on the road. But the bed was very comfortable and the size of the room was great. We didn't get to try the breakfast cause we left early. Just wished it wasn't so cold.

Trying to make a reservation by phone no one answered the phone, so I called an 800 number for best western. Upon arriving late in the day, I tried twice to get into our room and both times returned to front desk. After two attempts was given a new room. The second floor smelt terrible, but the room didn't smell too bad. I had requested a pack n play or crib for our one year old but they said they were all broken and had ordered new ones. There was enough toilet paper for me to use the restroom twice, but not enough for anyone else. There was no spare roll of toilet paper. The breakfast was horrible. The eggs tasted like they were cooked for 30 minutes too long. And the biscuits were very hard I couldn't cut them with a knife. I was very dissatisfied for the price. The trash cans were overflowing with trash. The women's restroom by lobby ran out of toilet paper, and instead of replacing it, the front desk put an "out of order" sign on it.

Family reunion 2017 was held at Hayes Kansas and the host hotel was the BW. We had an initial problem with the TV in the guest conference room Friday night however, the reception staff came to our rescue and quickly let us use the breakfast room for the video portion of the evening. We certainly appreciate Brittany and the staff coming to our rescue .

Great hotel in the middle of the prairie. Nice town with great dining ( check out Gella's) and anything one could need/want on a road trip. This Best Western was very clean , quiet with large rooms. Everything appears new. Very good breakfast and s very nice indoor pool. Family friendly hotel. Our new stopover enroute from Springfield, MO to Denver , CO. So glad we found this.

We have a King room. Huge! Very clean! The shower has adjustments to suit your type of comfortableness. Sitting area with 2 chairs. Will definitely stay here again if we are back this way. For me, it is worth the extra $$ to feel clean & relaxed.

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel. It is clean, comfortable, has friendly staff, a very good hot/cold breakfast that includes gluten-free items, and EXCELLENT bathroom lighting. I have stayed in more expensive hotels with lousy bathroom lighting, so I appreciate that most BW's have good bathroom lighting. The decor in our room is a bit dated but certainly not ugly or distracting, and I would stay again.

The hotel was everything you could want in an over night stay. If you plan to eat eggs for breakfast, make other plans...as the eggs were like rubber and the sausage was cold and not browned. Microwave helped but if you plan to eat eggs make other plans at least for now. The staff is friendly and informative.

While driving from St.Louis to Denver my wife and I decided to take a break and stop half way. Without many choices we settled on the Best Western in Hays, Kansas. What a treat to find a neat, clean, recently renovated hotel with a friendly staff. The beds were comfy and it has a nice quiet location. Being a college town there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants in the quaint downtown area. Breakfast included was the usual fair but the service in the snack area was typical Midwestern great.

The bathroom was not accessible. The tub was slippery, one of the grab bars was loose and the shower head leaked so badly it sprayed water all over the tile floor making it a slipping hazard. When I contacted front desk for some assistance with the shower never received a response. Did not ask to change rooms as we had already settled in, gone out for a meal and to change would have been very disruptive when we were already tired from the day of traveling.

Nice large room. 2 chairs in 1 King room. Refrigerator and microwave. Friendly staff. Indoor pool and fitness area looked nice. Inside interiors and elevator. Hotel is not an easy on/off the interstate. Will need to make u-turns, not too difficult.

Loved this motel. Really big room. Nice chairs in the room. Plenty of lights. Nice pillows. Nice shower and big bathroom. Very nice breakfast. The front desk was really nice and helpful. Would stay here again if in the area.

The BW Plus Butterfield Inn is a wonderful hotel: clean, comfortable and well-located for a quick on and off I-70. The staff at the from the front desk, housekeeping and the dining room are so personable and ready to help. We would highly recommend this hotel for couples, family or business.

The hotel location is very convenient and the staff is great. There are restaurants and shopping all within walking distance of this property. The breakfast was average, however we didn't get down there until it was almost over. It might be better if you get there earlier. Overall not a bad place to stay.

We have found the Best Western hotels to be uniformly clean and quiet, the rooms larger than at other hotels and usually the breakfasts the best. The food is always good and usually hot. The staff is always cheerful, helpful and welcoming and the rates are reasonable

Our room was a spacious king bed room with two easy chairs. It was furnished and decorated attractively. Very clean. The full length closet door was nice to have available. Heating and cooling was on a thermostat and worked well. It was equipped with everything one might need. The only improvement needed was a brighter light bulb in the floor lamp for reading.

Stayed one night rather than drive back to Missouri and get home very late. A little pricey compared to other Best Westerns (especially in a small town) but our room was spotless, front desk attendant was very helpful and overall a good experience.

Clean hotel friendly staff and great location! Comfy beds slept like a baby, as well as quiet location. Pool was refreshing, hot tub as relaxing. Breakfast was awesome! Hotel was full and it didn't seem like it!

It was a better place than I expected, with indoor hot tube. The only problem was the breakfast presentation, which had eggs in an unusual form. The eggs were in a round format with the yoke in the center that looked more like a slice of egg role.

This hotel was very clean. The rooms were extremely large for what you paid for however , the pool needs some TLC! all in all it was a great place to stay The middle of Kansas, breakfast was very nice, you got a lot of choices

We spent the night on the back end of a week-long trip. We needed an affordable but comfortable rest. We found 2 possible choices in Hays, Kansas & Best Western was the 1st call. In the past, we've often found the accommodations less that the posted pictures & info indicated in their on line profiles. This was every bit what was represented. Ans we'd definitely stay there again!

We arrived at the hotel at night, tired from the trip so put the heat on and went to sleep. We woke up freezing, the room had no heat at all. We had to use the bathroom hair dryer to warm up. We got dressed and went downstairs to keep warm and tell the hotel clerk. She said she had a maintenance person go check the heater and when he confirmed to her the heater was not working, she called the hotel owner. The hotel is privately owned and the owner's instruction to the very polite clerk was to give us $25 off the $100 bill and a certificate for $25 for a future stay at the hotel. I explained that I could not use the certificate so it was worthless to me but the owner had told the clerk that was all she was willing to do. Ridiculous ! I would never stay at this hotel again and it will be a very looong time, if at all, before I stay at another Best Western.

I like to find the unexplored best value in Motels & Inns. This is one of the best places I have stayed at for over 4 years. Rooms were clean and extra large with nice TV and TV Guide. I love to end the day with a dip in the Hot Tub and the B.W. has a nice one inside so you could set in it and look out the windows at snow coming down. If there was a down side it would be with the free breakfast included, it was tasty but presentation was UN-exciting. Overall it was a very good place to stay, very near the interstate with check-in and check-out very quick.

Very clean and roomy. Loved the large bathroom and counter space. No complaints at all. Stayed on a Thursday night which was $20 higher than return trip on Sunday. Breakfast was also good.Highly recommend.

We stayed in this motel 2 years ago to the day and came back because it was nice then. This time we stayed in the same type of room which was clean and nicely furnished but major issues. First two of the lamps had switches that had dropped below the top which could have been a fire issue. Second issue was the shower on which the hose was leaking and obviously sprayed out past the curtain. The cleaning person should have seen these issues and had them taken care of. Third was the one mattress was collapsed on the one side to the point that the straight side edge bulged out several inches and was very uncomfortable. When I approached the manager she had a no care attitude! The breakfast was anything but good.. The eggs were cold and tasted like rubber and the potatoes which just came fro the kitchen were cold. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE WE STAYED AT IN YEARS!!!

We stayed overnight on our way to CO. The hotel was acceptable, but nothing to rave about. The beds were comfortable and staff were helpful, but the rooms seemed a little worn and outdated. However, it's worth mentioning that we got the last two rooms available, so there may be other rooms that are in better condition. One of the rooms had a minor issue with the lock, but the hotel staff were upfront about it before we rented, and compensated for us by providing a good discount. The other room's shower head wouldn't turn on. We didn't have time in the morning to report it and wait for maintenance to fix it, so we just took baths. The breakfast had a decent selection, but the food quality wasn't as nearly as good as some other hotels. Overall, it's an acceptable place to spend the night and get some rest.

Rooms overall were very nice! Ours was missing a alarm clock didn't report it due to already complained about their hot tub being broke they did accommodate us a little for being broke! But one of the reasons we stayed there! Otherwise would recommend to anyone!

The beds were very clean and comfortable, overall the whole room was pretty clean. I gave 4 stars because both of my kids fell in the tub with me right there, where the tub slants should probably have a non-skid surface. The chair and ottoman were very stained as well but really didn't care since we just wanted a clean place to rest our heads. Nonetheless, we will definitely be back!

We had a king room that was very roomy and comfortable. It looked as if it had recently been updated - very attractive. The lighting was excellent - nice and bright (which is important for me to be able to see). Easy to get to from the freeway. Breakfast was a little better than typical. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. My only wish is that the sink was outside the shower and toilet area - makes it easier for 2 people to get ready, but I wouldn't reduce the rating for that.

This BW is a Premier level hotel. The lobby area was clean and neat. The front desk personnel were dressed professionally. The room decor is typical of a BW-nothing spectacular, but it was clean and nice. This hotel is in a great area that has a new strip mall directly north of it. The only downfall is there is no way to enter if you are driving from the north. A person has to either turn a block before, or go past the underpass and find a way to turn around to go back north.

We had the choice of several hotels in the Hays area exit. I knew I had the Best Western points card, so that made the choice easier, plus in looking at the hotel, positive. The convenience of food places made the choice easy.

Great Location. Will stay again. Helpful staff. Great breakfast. Decor is beautiful. Within walking distance of restaurants. No elevators but the staff was very willing to change room to lower floor to assist with not having to take the stairs.

We spent one night here while going west. The hotel is right by I-70 in a collection of hotels. Restaurants are nearby and good downtown restaurants aren't far away. The hotel was a little cheaper than the other chains, but was very nice. We paid about $115. The hotel itself looks practically new. But the pool and whirlpool really needed maintenance.

This was a great room! It had plenty of moving around room! With 4 women in a room that is quite a statement! It was easy to find and had plenty of restaurants within driving distance. I highly recommend this hotel.

Worst customer service ever!! Did not try once to make things correct or a good stay! Rooms weren't ready at check in when told would be. Made me late for my event.. I wasn't able to shower before hand or get ready in my room.

CONS Only: We asked for a ground floor room when we registered online. Request did not show up on hotel's reservation. They told us they did not have any available ground floor rooms available during our 4:00 check-in. TV did not have a program schedule.

I had a perfectly nice 1-night stay. Check-in was quick, and my room was in line with my preferences. The room had all the amenities that I look for. Wi-fi was strong. The bathroom could've used a bit more cleaning (more than a few pieces of hair scattered about), but nothing that freaked me out. One thing that this hotel does that I wish others would take a cue from is having a thermostat with an option to have the fan run constantly. It helps tremendously with drowning out street noise and noise from other rooms. When possible, I bring along a fan when I travel in case the property doesn't have the "constant on" option on the thermostat. Glad I didn't have to use my fan here! Breakfast was just OK. That's one area where I find Best Western can sometimes lag behind other chains. And one other odd bugaboo I would note: when entering the room, if I pulled the door handle down and pushed, it felt like there was a security latch keeping the door from opening. I actually thought I had accidentally been assigned to an occupied room. I returned to the front desk and the clerk told me I needed to pull up on the handle instead of down. She was right. The door opened with no problem after that. Kind of an oddity.

Travelling through Kansas can be a joy if you spend time in hotels like this. We are travelling to the great West and not to see Kansas would miss a good portion of the history. Thank the staff for recommendations on local attractions.

We were traveling back from Colorado ND decided to stop in Hays, KS for the night. We picked this best Western over all the others and boy were we glad we did! Very nice place. Room was in tip top shape and the evening was quiet! Thank you Best Western!

Hotel was excellent in every way. Hadn't stayed in one for quite a while. Was very happy with the over all experience. Will stay again. Only problem i had with stay, was the very noisy people on the floor above us. Very heavy walking. This was not the hotels fault.

Overall, great place to stay on our way home to Illinois from a Utah/Colorado Trip. Good location, great facilities. Breakfast wasn't the best though. Powdered eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. I chose the biscuits and gravy, and biscuits were cold and tasted horrible, and gravy was luke warm and pasty tasting. Ended up with a donut and a banana. Otherwise, enjoyable stay. The king size bed in our room was really comfortable!

All staff from front desk to housekeeping to breakfast personnel were super friendly and hotel was clean. Conveniently located near amenities. Bed was comfortable and rooms were clean. Enjoyed our stay and will stay here again in future.

Room included two queen beds, sitting area with two chairs, desk with chair, microwave and refrigerator. Plenty of room. Noise from the hall and ice machine down the hall reached the room easily. Shower curtain was lightly stained including dark black stain. Temperature control worked well. Complimentary breakfast included basic egg, sausage, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, bananas, oatmeal and cereal. The cereal was all wheat based. Not much to eat for a gluten free diet. Several restaurants/fast food available within walking/ short drive of hotel.

Great room, very comfortable. Staff could use training on customer service and follow through, I had to call the following Monday and request my receipt that they had said had already been emailed to me when I checked out. They were very kind, but uniforms alone don't make you work ready.

The location was close to I70 and easy to get to. The breakfast was very good, but they did not over sugar for coffee, the staff said to use honey...gross. The pool was nice but a bit to salty. Found a couple bugs in hot tub and a couple in hall way, but none in our room.

We stayed here on our way to Wisconsin. Seems like the place was recently updated. Everything was in tip top shape. Very quiet and clean. My wife ans I thought the breakfast was pretty good. We plan to stay here again the next time we pass through this area.

My daughter slipped on the bathroom floor and broke the toilet seat. When we called to report the incident and get the seat fixed no one asked if she was okay or needed medical attention.. There were bugs on all levels of the building floors dead. The hot breakfast only supports people with a specific diet and it did not have the flexibility for others to eat a hot breakfast.

Clean rooms, very quiet as far as outside noise and hall door noise. I was on a quick trip and didn't get to use the breakfast area, but it looked well stocked. This is the third time of use and I will definitely use it again as it is the best value.

Driving across the country we were looking for a place to stay in Hays. Really glad we booked early as they became sold out. Good price, nice breakfast, a little trouble with the elevator but they fixed it fast. Room was large with its own sitting area, really made it nice. A definite repeat!

Towels were like sand paper in the rooms and at the pool. The pool towels were like hand towels. The biscuits were like rocks and the gravy and eggs were cold not even warm. There was no real information regarding things to do in Hays.

Booked on line. Arrived and had a quick checkin. Our room was very nice and reasonably quiet. The AC worked well. We used the hot tub and it was warmer than we prefer but that seems to be the standard temp these days. They were also out of pool towels but we made it work. The workout room was crowded with equipment but not with people so it works well. Breakfast was good and what you would expect including eggs and sausage. Checkout was a problem as the person at the desk was on the phone and we waited at least 15 minutes as we needed a printed copy. We were not in a rush so it was not a big deal. We would definitely go there again if we were in the area.

2 grandparents with daughter & 3 kids had a very good stay at another BW on start of vacation which made us choose this one on return...just as good! Friendly staff, clean comfortable spacious room, complete breakfast. Will continue to choose BW PLUS.

Always reluctant to book room with unfamiliar circumstances. Front desk was very helpful and friendly. Reassured and slept peacefully. Rooms are clean, beds were comfortable, breakfast was good. Overall, I would recommend staying at this hotel.

We stayed overnight for a family wedding. We'd never stayed at this hotel before. The location was excellent, just off the interstate with easy access. Our room was just within feet of where we could park, so taking our luggage to the room was a breeze. The staff was friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again if we need a room in this area. Would highly recommend to anyone else. No complaints whatsoever.

We stayed at the hotel because it was nearly the half way point to our destination. The hotel was nice but on the pricing side. Breakfast was included but at 7:30am we must have hit the rush almost everything was empty and only one staff member to cook, refill and clean.

Good customer service. I left my lights on overnight and the nice girl from the front desk went out of her way to help my family. I forgot her name but I'm glad she represents a company like Best Western. Great customer service and an amazing person. To the lady that worked on July 31st between 3-4 in the morning, thank you. An error in my reservation was exacerbated by the insensitive reservation clerk who insisted I pay for 5 rooms mistakenly booked. She said I exceeded the cancellation time of 15 minutes. No one in my party of 9 used the rooms in question. She refused to contact her manager to correct the misunderstanding. I was prepared to dispute the problem with my credit card company. It wasn't a good end to a tiring travel day. She eventually corrected the error but could have mitigated the aggravation earlier.

I usually stay at Best Westerns on my road trips. They are a quality chain of privately owned hotels that maintain a high standard. This Best Western was no exception when it came to friendly staff, a clean, quiet, comfortable room and good breakfast. Upon entering our room though, there was a slight smell of smoke. I'm not sure if this can be fixed and it wasn't overwhelming, but it was there. The wifi was very fast!

We checked in late to the Butterfield Inn. When we got to our room in was smoky smelling, especially the towels in the bathroom. We knew they were sold out, so we didn't bother asking to be moved to another room. When we checked out they offered to give us extra rewards points for the putting up with the smell. Apparently someone had smoked in the room, setting off the smoke detectors, a couple of days before. They had tried to get the smell out with an ozone machine. Other than that, the hotel was excellent.

We found the Best Western Butterfield to be an excellent choice to stay. We were really impressed with the large room and cleanliness. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful! Food was good in the morning. Would definitely stay again if pass by that way again!

This was our first night stop on a 3 day trip so we wanted something that was easy access from the highway. We had made reservations online prior to the trip and check-in was quick and easy. The room was as expected from a BW and relatively quiet. Breakfast the next morning had many hot or cold selections, and the staff kept an eye on the quantities. Over all it was a good experience and will definitely stay at again and recommend.

Everyone was very nice and went out of the way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms were very clean and are quite large. The stay included breakfast, which was better than I have seen at any Best Western or similar hotel. The food was fairly basic, but everything was well presented and fully stocked. The room price is competitive with other hotels in Hays, but this is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed at in Hays.

Check in was fast, simple and pleasant. Room was comfortable and very clean. Pool was clean and the kids had a great time swimming. Will stay here again when we visit our grandchildren and we do that at least 3 times a year. Breakfast was nothing special but the kids loved it and the coffee was OK. The staff at check out was very pleasant which was nice. I have only had good experiences with Best Western Hotels.

The Best Western Butterfield Inn is in a convenient location off the Interstate. It would have been more convenient if the GPS would've done a better job of directing us from the Highway since we didn't come via the Interstate and therefore had to do a u-turn to get there. This hotel and the Best Western Plus in South Ogden Utah have changed my impression of Best Western in general. Very nice and tidy and the room in this location was very quiet. Should we find ourselves needing a place to stay in the middle of Kansas again we will certainly be looking to stay here again.

We stopped here after driving for nearly 10 hours from southern Colorado. Great room, large with 2 queen beds and a nice sized bathroom. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. Breakfast was good as well.

I booked this hotel online. The stay was great. The bed was fine, the breakfast was very good. The internet worked fine. The check in and check out service went quickly . I had a good time and would stay at this hotel again.

The room was clean and roomy. The work out facilities is very small and the trash needed to be dumped. Breakfast was picked over by 8:30 not much to choose from. They offered cookies during the check in process.

I usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Hays but decided to try the Best Western because it was about $10 per night cheaper. The facilities were not near a clean as the Holiday Inn's. The staff was friendly enough but didn't seem to care about cleaning up. The cookie tray in the lobby was dirty when I checked in and dirty when I left the next morning. There was some pink lemonade also that had not been changed the next day. I'm glad I thought twice about having a sip at check in. The pool water was pretty dirty looking too. I'd say spend the extra $10 and stay at Holiday Inn.

Hotel was clean and quiet. Parking lot is small, we were pulling a trailer and had to park in overflow area. Front desk could not tell me for sure if camera were in parking overflow area. Breakfast buffet was clean and food well presented.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at this Best Western on the way to our western adventures! The staff is always friendly and our room is spacious and comfortable. Hopefully we will continue to travel "Westward Ho"! This will always be our stop on the way!

Staff was nice and accommodating, however, the hotel was not as clean as it should have been. The furniture and carpeting was stained and the tile had caked on stains. Also, the breakfast looked disgusting.

We stopped in for one night on our way to CO. The hotel was easy to find right off the interstate. We were greeted with fresh baked cookies and a kind front desk staff. The room was clean and comfortable. The pillows did seem a bit small. Not a lot of options at this intersection.

Clean Rooms clean linens, great breakfast. Oh the staff was very helpful and friendly. That's were really comfortable. And the rooms were large. I would stay here again. Awesome place to stay. I loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay at Best Western Butterfield. Seemed to have been remodeled relatively recently. We had a large room and bath, with a great showerhead (picture included). The breakfast was nice as well.

This is a nice hotel, a typical BW Plus property, but in my opinion is overpriced for the area. One of the adjoining hotels is recently remodeled, is much less, with as nice of rooms. I still stay here occasionally, as I am a diamond elite member and like to keep up my status.

From the staff to the amenities, this hotel is fantastic! They keep fresh lemonade and water right at the front. We decided to try the lemonade and I have to say - it was the best I have ever had! She even filled my "to go" cup for my trip as we were leaving! Great Staff! Clean Hotel, easy access!

Great hotel! Friendly staff and comfortable beds! Easy access from the highway. I stayed on a Sunday night and came back through town and stayed again on Tuesday night. This will be the only hotel I stay from now on when traveling to Hays, KS.

The staff were very attentive and anticipated my needs. Their breakfast was one of the best I've had in quite some time. The room was a 2 queen size room. There was a sitting area which was quite nice for relaxing and watching tv or doing computer work.

The Butterfield Motel is a great place, outstanding rooms, great service, wonderful breakfast. The hotel is just north of Interstate 70. There we planets of restaurants available in the area. Ate at the Applebee's across the highway, great food.

Everything excellent as expected from the Best Western. Close to WalMart and the interstate. We had to stop here to do laundry as we were running out of clean clothes. We are thankful the BW has guest laundries. Cannot recommend the food at the Mexican place next door, but then we live in Arizona. Can recommend the margaritas.

Really nice hotel at a great price. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was extremely friendly and personable. Made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was above average and had lots of good choices. Especially liked the toppings for the eggs. Plenty of choices to eat very close by! We travel through Kansas frequently and will definitely plan our travels to include this as our preferred stop on the way.

We choose hotels based on reviews on Trip Advisor. This property received a very high rating, and we were initially very impressed with the facility. However, a series of events led us to revise our initial impression. 5 to 4: We went to the Best Western website to check the price. We showed the check-in clerk the price on the website and were told that they could only give us a rate about $8 higher. So we had to stand in the lobby and book our room online. 4 to 3: We walked into a beautiful room and found a piece of trash (receipt from a donut shop) by the coffee maker. 3 to 2: We threw away the receipt and proceeded to make a cup of coffee. We unwrapped the cup and prepared to put it under the pot. At that point we noticed that the "fresh" and wrapped cup had apparently been used previously, and there was mold on the bottom of the cup. From 2 to 1: Their free breakfast purportedly has gluten-free and dairy-free options upon request. We requested both, but we were told that the dairy-free options had expired. Upon checkout, we advised the front desk of our disappointments about our stay. We were told that our concerns would be reported. However, since the clerk did not take notes, we are certain that they were promptly forgotten.

I was driving from Philadelphia to Nevada and had to stop along the way. I had a few choices in the area and chose this location because of the price and reputation of their brand. I made the right choice since my stay was great. The rooms were large and comfortable. The breakfast on the next day was very enjoyable.

Growing up my parents had a Best Western Hotels book so we always knew where the next BW was on our roadtrip. Through the years some BWs were not regularly updated and the property lost it's great reputation. However, it seems over the last ten years there's been a ton of remodeling, branding, marketing and the name is once again a name you can count on for quality. The BW Butterfield Inn is one such property. It looks and feels like a new property. Very clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds provide everything you need for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good and definitely met expectations. And the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is an excellent choice whether staying for one night or for a week.

We were driving from Utah to Tennessee and just stopping to sleep, so we weren't looking for anything fancy. The room was big, comfortable, with 2 beds and 2 comfortable chairs. Breakfast included hot items like eggs and sausage gravy. Fresh baked cookies awaited us as we checked in. The nice woman at breakfast even have us bags to pack our breakfast in so we could get back on the road early.

Visited Hays to move our son over the weekend. He is attending college in town and the stay was nice had plenty of room and chairs to have a visit with him and his girlfriend in the evenings. Rooms were clean and had a on site laundry room which came in handy since we got wet while moving as it was raining and snow mix over the weekend.

We arrived after a long day of travel and were greeted by a personable and bubbly desk clerk (Diva or Dina). It was nice to be greeted so warmly after a tiring day. We were checked in quickly and on our way to our room. Our room was very spacious and super clean. Bed was comfortable, but the pillows could have been better. Breakfast was good. Check out was a little slow, but there was only one desk clerk and she was assisting another guest who had a problem, which caused a backup. We would definitely stay here again.

Our room was clean and spacious. Location was great. The customer service made the difference for us. Rooms were nice but the breakfast wasn't good at all. Pool was small for that big of a place. Staff was nice and helpful. Was kind of pricey to stay. I had no shampoo or soap or lotion in my room unlike other places I have stayed for nicer and cheaper.

Good, clean comfortable room. I requested a room away from other quests because my handicap son makes a lot of noise and I was put on the 3rd floor in a corner room away from other guests. Which put us at ease.

I had spent a couple of nights at the hospital with a family member and needed a place to relax and freshen up. The room was very large, relaxing and comfortable. The bathroom was large and clean. I will stay here again!

I strongly recommend, if you choose this hotel, inspect room before you pay...many of the systems, lights, thermostat, air handling unit in wall, television, remote control, were either non-functional or functioned significantly below acceptable...also, window was filthy (bird feces on large portion of window) as were other areas in room..not a good experience..

This motel is good value, quiet, close to a Walmart, and near the interstate. Hot breakfast available and the cook would made eggs to order. The only thing that could have been better is the bathroom lighting, which was too dim for me.

Must be the nicest place to stay in Hays, KS. Clean all around, nice little pool, room was large, clean and well furnished. Beds were comfortable and the Air Conditioning was COLD! I'm sure there are cheaper places to stay in Hays but this place wasn't particularly expensive (under $100 when we stopped off here) and a great value for the money.

This was a business trip. It was a very clean room, and quiet. I did not hear any highway noise. Located close to a lot of food places. Appreciated the free wifi, which is always important when traveling for business. Breakfast was good, can't go wrong with eggs and ham. Definitely, stay there again.

Though the lobby was not as uniquely decorated as some Best Westerns, it was was comfortable and pleasant. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasant as well. The breakfast was the same as at other Best Westerns (which was good). The indoor pool was absolutely the warmest I'd ever swum in (which was also good). The front desk staff at check-in and check-out were friendly. I would stay here again.

I haven't stayed in a Best Western for years, mostly because I found their properties aging and not kept up. But this property in Hays was a very pleasant surprise. It had been recently remodeled and reopened. Our room was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. I appreciated the sitting area consisting of two chairs with footstools and a table with a lamp. Great place to cozy up with my book. The check in desk staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was generous with its choices and the area was kept clean and items refilled. This will be my go to hotel on the trips to Denver.

One of the best, especially for the price, places we have stayed. Quiet, very clean, spacious and a wonderful full breakfast. Amazing for the size of the city. This is an updated hotel and doesn't look from the outside as nice as it really is on the interior.

I made Hays my stopping point when driving from Arkansas back to Colorado. The value of the room was great! It was very clean AND quiet! And not a lot of hallway light comes through the bottom of the door like most places. Bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Shower had good water pressure and heated quickly. Breakfast had many choices including scrambled eggs and I believe it was bacon. They also have a waffle maker that looked pretty good. There is also a pool that stays open until 11pm.

My hubby and I were traveling through Hays, Ks on our way to FL for our anniversary. We decided to stay at the Best Western because it is right off the interstate and it looked like a safe place to stay. When we got there we were promptly greeted by Aundy, and checked into our room with ease. She was so bright, cheerful, and humorous. She gave us an amazing recommendation on where to eat. Once we got to the room we were astonished to see how big the room was. Also, the entire hotel was extremely clean. Props to the housekeepers because they do an amazing job. At checkout, we were pleased to see a smiling and welcoming face. The employee working that morning was named Alexis. Breakfast was top notch!! We have never had such a good breakfast experience ever at any other hotel. We cannot wait to come back and stay on our way back through! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Hays.

The gal at the counter was super nice! Very clean hotel, wonderful breakfast!!! We will stay again if heading that way!!! Lots of little extras (orange infused water, fresh baked cookies and mint in the lobby!) The rooms were nice and big too!!!

This hotel was literally re-opened after a remodel less than a month ago. Stayed overnight on our way to Mexico/US in Ohio. Everything was obviously very clean. The only exception was the drapes in our room, which definitely should have been included in the remodel, but sadly were not. The choice for mattress pad was also not up to snuff, but once you're asleep, who notices? Nice breakfast buffet and staff.

Stayed for two nights on business. After a long day of driving and meetings, the checkin process went smoothly and quickly. The woman at the front desk was cheery and pleasant. The room was enormous and pristine. Immediate hot water in the shower, which surprised me because I was on the 3rd floor. My king size bed was so comfortable that getting up in the mornings was a struggle and I had to ask what kind of bed it was. The continental breakfast was above and beyond my expectations. The muffins were fresh, the juice wasn't sour, and there were plenty of other choices for food (omelette, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, cold cereal). The eating area was clean and top notch! I didn't use the indoor pool or the gym, but the pool had sparkling water and the area around it was just as clean as everything else in the hotel. I regretted leaving my suit at home because it's not often you find amazing indoor pools like this one (they also had a chair lift at the pool for disabled guests, something else that's rare)! The desk clerks were always polite and cheerful, which is a big bonus when you're traveling. I will have other conferences in Hays, and I look forward to returning to Butterfield in the future!

Satisfied with the renovation, with the service and with the professional service. I wish there was a laundry room and an updated gym. It was clean, well positioned off of the highway and close to food and a big box store.

Beautiful room, very good breakfast. Front desk helped with next reservation. We were traveling from Branson,Mo to Arizona. This was our best stop on the way home as we wanted to see Colorado next day. Very nice place just off highway next to excellent restaurants.

You can tell a lot about the cleanliness of a hotel room by walking barefoot on the floor. My feet were very happy on the carpet in our room and on the tile in the bathroom. Clean floors! The rest of the room was just as clean. The bed was comfy and we had THREE chairs in our king room. We did not have to flip a coin to see who had to sit on the bed to watch TV. Three towels and three face cloths. Always love the extra. A face cloth for my husband to shave and a spare towel to dry my hair. We had a microwave and a fridge, and the air conditioner had an always "on" function for the fan. I had read some reviews about this hotel being noisy. I did not find that to be the case at all. Yes, our room door would slam, if we just let it go. But we did not do that and I guess most other guests did not either. Maybe having the fan running also helped. The breakfast was very good. Ready made omelets and some kind of pancake on a stick, the morning we were there. It changes each morning. Don't know if they have those delicious cinnamon rolls every morning or not, but they were super! We had a couple hot and fresh out of the oven. We really enjoyed this hotel and would stay again, if traveling through Hays. The only negative I would note is that the elevator was SLOW!!

This was a stopping point while traveling with two young children. I loved the size of the rooms. Very spacious to accommodate kids playtime with a comfortable sitting area for the adults. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were great! We loved the pool area also. Would have liked bigger pool towels. Their was no light in the pool area bathroom. Two small things that would make the visit better but would definitely choose this location again if in Hays KS.

This is not a place I will consider staying in the future. I discussed issues with the General Manager about an employee and the response given was very ho-hum. She was not willing to make any changes to make the stay more pleasant. Also, this hotel will not price match if you find a better price online. This is the best reason I can think of to take my money elsewhere.

I would never stay at this hotel again. Walls are paper thin. The doors are heavy so when guests open the doors to their rooms they slam shut. A motion sensor controls the fan on the a/c unit in the room. I set the fan to ON to drown out the noise from the hallway and rooms next to me. The fan would kickoff and I would have to wave my arms around to get it to turn back on. The water pressure in the shower made it difficult to rinse the shampoo from my hair. Breakfast was lukewarm and mushy (french toast sticks and sausage). When I checked out I was not asked how my stay was and was shamed for asking for a receipt. Desk attendant never told me up front that an email copy was sent to me and seemed bothered to print a copy for me. I won't ever stay at this hotel again and told the resident of Hays that told me to stay there to quit referring it to visitors.

This hotel was within seconds off the freeway and with a late arrival that was really nice. The hotels breakfast was beyond what you expect for a continental breakfast. Omelettes were on the menu the day we stayed! Tons of options. The room was big and comfy. I loved that they had a place to put your luggage so we didn't have to put it on the floor. Staff was nice and pleasant. We would definitely stay there again.

Harsh LED Lights throughout the hotel destroy the ambiance and comfort of the facility. Harsh day of driving into very harsh lighting in lodging. The breakfast is normal and met expectations. They did have extra bed side electrical outlets for C-Pap. Staff & cleanliness were excellent.

We have mostly been staying at Hilton hotels along our road trip, but it was full, so we went to the Best Western next door. It was a very nice hotel on a par with many we've stayed at recently and better than a couple. I would highly recommend this hotel to weary travelers of any age with or without children. The place was clean, tastefully furnished and decorated, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good. We also used the pool and jacuzzi and both were clean and enjoyable.

Room was clean, and beds were comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and check in was quick. The lack of one star is because the lady putting out breakfast was very annoyed when we asked if we could grab a couple pastries (which were all out and ready to go) ten minutes before breakfast started because we were ready to get on the road. Still a great, quick over night, though.

It was easy to reserve a room on Trip Adviser and no hassles at the front desk when checking in. I will stay at this hotel again when in that area. The location is great for restaurants and Wal Mart. The room was very quiet on the third floor. Breakfast had a lot of options.

Good facilities, great staff, okay breakfast. Hard to do breakfast for lots of people but egg pattie are too weird and bacon was marginal. Enjoyed the whole wheat English muffins though! Nice that they offered yogurt.

Front desk staff was unorganized. They wouldn't let anyone check in before 3:00 on the dot and actually it was 3:03 pm when she said we could finally check in. Lobby was packed full of annoyed people with several very angry men. They let the angry men check in before other people that had been waiting over an hour. They only had one person checking in to start with but another one joined her then left shortly after. When I got to our room there was a bug on the wall and 2 hairs in the sink. We will not return.

Nice size room, comfortable king bed, normal bath/shower combo, soft waster (so use less soap) nice and plentiful linens, nice size TV, decent channel selections, and good climate control. Really nice, restful room. The pool, hot tub and fitness facilities were good, with extra recognition on the handicap lift for the swimming pool. First place (outside a rehab facility) where I've seen this type of accessible lift for a pool. Very nice!

We drove cross country on Memorial Day weekend and did not book hotels because we weren't sure how far we would drive each day. On our third day, we called ahead as we were driving and were able to book a room. On the way, a bad thunderstorm hit about 30 minutes from the hotel. We waited it out for almost an hour. I called the hotel several times to make sure they would hold the room. The desk clerk not only assured us that they would hold the room, but gave me weather reports for that area. Once we saw a clearing in the storm (after quarter size hail, 60 mph winds, and heavy rain. We were driving a 16 ft. moving van), we were able to determine that we had a window of opportunity to safely get to the hotel because I called again and the clerk said the storm was past that area and gave me directions. We finally arrived after a white knuckle drive at about 8:30pm. The clerk recommended several restaurants very close and gave us a 10% coupon that was accepted by any of the restaurants. The room was the largest room on our trip. Beds and pillows GREAT! Quiet room in the back away from highway noise. Bathroom and towels like a 5 star hotel. Breakfast the next morning had many choices and everything was very clean. Recommend HIGHLY!! BTW - lowest rate on our trip on a holiday weekend and gave us a discount for AAA members.

We only needed to stay for one night, but the room was spacious and clean and shower was great. I didn't have the time to try the exercise facilities or pool so can't rate that. The breakfast was good as well.

We have stayed here in past years and prebooked a room. We arrived in a thunderstorm and it seemed a lot of interstate traffic had given up due to the bad weather and wanted to stay as well. I think the hotel became booked pretty quickly. Despite the queue the receptionist was polite and unflustered. We were in a king room - I think it was an accessible one too as the bathroom had lots of bars in it and a showerhead that you can take off the wall. The room was very spacious and comfortable - the bed had a blanket though rather than a duvet. However, as with many hotel like this the sound proofing was very poor - there was an interconnecting door that probably didnt help but we could hear *everything* from the room next door word for word. We couldn't hear the intertstate traffic though. The wifi was very fast I think we measured 22Mbps download - 5 upload!

Great location right in the center of Hays. Needed a central place to stay for our daughter's college graduation. Not a fancy hotel but clean with friendly service. Easy to get around town. However, not a lot to do in Hays.

The staff was all wonderfully welcoming and helpful, from our arrival last night to our good morning at breakfast. I was impressed with the friendly,joy filled attitudes.. The room was nice...everything was clean and looked like it had been recently updated. I love it when the carpets look new and clean. Breakfast was as expected, being gluten free I am glad to find a few options I can partake of. Thanks for accommodations that allowed a restful nights sleep...we're off!

hotel fell below my standards as far as hotel staff and quality of amenities in the room the location to family and activities was a reson I selected this location will think about it better next time

I have been staying in Hays all year for work and stayed at almost every hotel. The Best Western is the best by far, great accommodations, amazing staff, and most importantly a great shower. I've stayed here over 50 times and I was never once disappointed. Stay here, you will not regret it!!!!! :)

Beds are definitely not as comfortable as the Hampton. Hotel is clean though and breakfast is not bad. Location is good. Glad we booked through Priceline and got a deal on the room. Spa was out of order the entire stay, we were told it would be a one day fix :-(

The overall experience was good. The only drawback was the breakfast activity. Machines were out of order, they ran out of items such as sugar (more than one visitor requested it). The staff could not make it right.

We had such a good time at this hotel! The rooms were very clean and quite spacious. The staff was very courteous and professional. I asked to have 3 rooms close together and they were! The hotel is very easy to get to. My husband and I, our kids and our grandkids totally enjoyed our stay!

This hotel is conveniently located near Interstate 70, and is relatively new. Our room was large and pleasant. Parking was easy, and the breakfast was satisfactory. This inn is above average, but not exceptional. The personnel we dealt with were all pleasant and professional.

Our experience at this hotel could not have been better! The facility appeared to be new. It was very clean and spacious in the lobby, dining room and our own room. The furnishings were ample and comfortable with a table, desk, two stuffed chairs and an ottoman. It also included a good sized refrigerator and microwave. The staff was also very friendly and helpful!

We stayed here recently after a bad experience at a neighboring hotel where I was given a room that someone had been smoking in, even though it was billed as a non-smoking facility. Due to asthma, I must have a non-smoking facility. First novel had no other rooms. So, I called the BW, explained my situation, and was told I could come over and check out a room before deciding. I did just that, and was checked into a wonderful, non-smoking room with absolutely no odor! Thanks to the wonderful front desk staff who helped resolve this problem for me.

One of the worst hotel stays I've had in years. 1) At check-in the clerk told me their laundry facilities were "broken." I asked if there were a local laundromat and she replied, "Yes -- but I don't know where?" And then she laughed merrily. She was as disinterested and cold after that as a person could be. NOT a warm and friendly welcome. 2) Next morning I go to take a shower but can't figure out how to use the shower in the handicapped room. (No idea why they gave me a handicapped room.) I had never seen a shower setup like this one and had to call the front desk to show me how to make the water come out of the shower nozzle up above. The maid who came pulled the nozzle below the faucet to diver the water to the shower nozzle -- and the shower nozzle up above squirted me with cold water, drenching my shirt. Once she left I took a shower -- but the clamp that holds the shower hoze was loose and the clamp "walked" down the vertical support bar during the entire shower - within a few minutes, the shower nozzle was at waist height instead of head height. This was a useless contraption, as the clamp would not hold the nozzle where you set it. 3) The lamp on the table in the corner had a defective switch. When I tried to turn the lamp on, the switch spit sparks and was obviously shorting out. The bulb in the lamp would thus not stay lit. I was very late to a business appointment because of the defective shower. And I had been on the road for a week and was counting on doing laundry the night I checked in. A hotel that charges this much should have figured out how to call a technician to repair their laundry facilities. Incidentally, I just this minute called their hotel to see if their laundry facilities are working and was told, "The laundry facilities are still out of service, unfortunately." My stay was 10 days ago - and they are unable to find a technician to fix a washing machine? Give me a break! This is very poor management. A hotel like this does not deserve your business. The rooms, by the way, while clean and new, were sterile and unwelcoming, matching the attitude of the staff.

Rude unfriendly confrontational staff! Given room by ice maker, although place almost empty. Carpet in room filthy, towels faded and different shades and wash cloth so frayed that threads were hanging. Took to front desk and said, sorry and gave me better one. Sheets were old. We always stay in Hays on our trips from Colorado to Okla as it is the halfway point. Normally, we stay at Holiday Inn, but on a whim decided to give BW a try. Our room was big with vaulted ceilings & the bathroom was large as well with updated granite. The beds were dated with old, dingy bedding. The pool was nice, but the hot tub had way too many chemicals that foamed up so much with the jets on, we had to get out. We slept late as we arrived late so came downstairs at 9:30 hungry for our free breakfast to find everything put away. Apparently, it ended at 9am vs the 10am breakfasts at every other hotel we've ever stayed at. My husband asked for change for the vending machine & encountered a rude staff person who seemed inconvenienced but obliged. I had to make several trips from our room to the front desk for replacement room keys which ended up being the lock needing the batteries replaced. After waiting several minutes the staff person came out with a screwdriver & batteries smelling of smoke since she had been outside smoking rather than at the desk. No apology was made for the lock or our having to wait. Upon checkout, we were informed by a different rude staff person that she needed to inspect our room before returning our deposit. I realized I'd forgotten my sons jacket so went back to get it. As we left the room, she asked, "what is that red spot on the sheet from?" My son had flaming hot cheetos the night before so I explained that's what it was. She said she needed to know so they could use the right cleaner. It was a strange question & felt as if I was being scolded. After giving us back our $100 cash deposit, she threw in: "the girl last night must not be aware our deposit rate went up to $200 so next time you'll know." When we got to the car, we both agreed there won't be a next time.

We stopped here on our way to Colorado, check in was fast easy, and the gal was very pleasant . I was traveling with 2 teenage boys, room was comfortable, WiFi and HUGE plus.. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but adequate.

Hays is a very nice small town. It has some interesting sightseeing sight (the fort) and nice restaurants We didn't visit the fort on this visit. We did have a very good meal at Peter Mandy's with an added bonus of 10% off for mentioning our BW hotel. The hotel is extremely well-run. Lezlie who made our reservation also checked us in. She made sure that we got exactly the room in a quiet area that we had requested. She and Lexi told us about the new restaurant and the discount. Both couldn't be nicer and are excellent representatives of Best Western hotels.

The room was huge! It was not a suite, and was not a BW Plus or Premiere. But a great room. Nice pool. Very large breakfast area, and nicer than average breakfast selection. Very helpful staff. All very clean.

We stayed at this hotel for 0ne night and it was truly one of the best stays. The staff was so nice. The front desk person that night was very helpful with directions …Awesomeness! The room was so awesome and it surprised us!!! The main factor in all this was the non smoking rooms.. That was a tremendous plus for us!!. Everything was spacious, very, very clean, and felt like it was built yesterday. You never had to ask for anything, and since my partner/wife has tremors, staff made sure they accommodated her in every way possible. Total awesomeness!! The rates were very reasonable. There was plenty of parking, and we felt so safe. We will definitely be back and highly recommending this Best Western as it was our favorite among all of our stays..

This is, without doubt, the worst best western I have ever stayed at for reasons too innumerable to describe. I like best westerns and I've stayed in dozens if them. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this one.

The Butterfiled Inn has nice rooms, however some of the other amenities are marginal. The breakfast was weak, mostly powdered eggs and undesirable meats. You could make your own waffle but that was the extent of it. The excercise facility was small and didn't seem well cared for. The treadmill could used to be cleaned and some type of sanitary wipe available to clean off the equipment would have been useful. This is not a terrible place to stay, just wasn't anything impressive to me.

Pretty good stop in Hays. I say pretty good because although my room was spacious and had some good amenities (clean and spacious bathroom, microwave and refrigerator), the chairs and ottoman had some stains. No issues with the beds, pillows, linens, and room decor, but the dirty chairs really stuck out when I walked into the room. Hotel seems noisier than some on the first floor. The room doors slam quite noisily and that noise (from other rooms) seemed to roll up and down the hallway throughout the evening. Nice to have coffee on demand any time of day or night, along with hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Breakfast items were fairly standard, but plentiful (eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, hot and cold cereals). Unfortunately there wasn't much of a fresh fruit selection. Nice to have USA Today to read. Staff was pleasant.

Sorry, but these are not worthy of $99+ tax rooms at least not the standard 2 queen bedroom I had even if it was pretty spacious. The property's excessive use of CFL bulbs which I understand can be cost savings to the hotel was over the top and removed any sense of warmth and comfort from the moment you walk in, most especially in the room hallway and worse the room itself. Sorry if this might sound silly or dramatic but it literally gave the place an institutional/warehouse feeling sometimes which robs the home away from home experience, with an overall impression of cheapness. While I'm glad I got my room at a slight discount, the proper value for this hotel is about $79 + tax in my honest opinion, mattress was alright but have had better even at lower quality hotels, breakfast was better than some but only 1 hot food item available not counting the same old waffle maker found in most places, automated coffee dispensing machines are unfortunately cropping up more.

From the outside, the hotel looks fairly new and nice, but the rooms are a little worse for the wear. There were stains on the furniture in our room and the bathroom had hair on the floor and in the shower. Breakfast didn't have very many options like you would find at a Hampton or Holiday Inn. Front desk staff was polite upon check in but when I tried calling down to the desk 3 times later in the night to complain about the noisy neighbors above me, nobody answered the phone at all. I travel through Hays often, about every two weeks and will not be choosing this hotel again as there are many other options in the area for the same amount of money.

The hotel was very clean, beds comfortable and rates good. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. We arrived very late but the receptionist was accommodating. The hotel was quiet even though it was a Saturday which is a plus after a long day on the road.

I am a Diamond club member and stay at BW all over KS. Every BW gives me a great rate but this one. Several emails with the GM she don't care. So I will no longer stay. When checking in last time they offered the guy standing next to me a better triple AAA discount. I stay at BW over 100 plus times a year you would think I would get a better rate not the snowbird on his way to AZ. So I just stay with their competition and they give me the rate I need.

This is my lodging of choice when in Hays. Right off Interstate, reasonably priced, clean and has good breakfast. Great for business travelers and those going to and from Colorado. Fairly new property and well-kept.

Had a wonderful stay. The hotel and room were very clean. The staff were very nice and very helpful. This was one of the better hotels we stayed at during our trip. I recommend this hotel as the place to stay.

Bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was way above expectations, with plenty of Gluten Free options. Pool had a handicap lift, and was immaculate. Rooms were generously sized and even had a sitting area, so you didn't have to sit on beds just to watch TV. Staff was very friendly

Hotel sold out night prior to my stay and room was not ready when I arrived. Front desk clerk went out of her way to find me a place to freshen up and dress for my function. Easy access to highway and restaurants close. Great parking lot lighting for lone traveler.

Large, comfortable rooms nicely appointed. Friendly, helpful staff. In our room the toilet and mattress needed attention. Breakfast better than average, but the coffee maker made instant coffee. Good location just off the Interstate.

Back on Hays for a surprise birthday party and needed one night in Hays. Pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is. The small things made it super good, such as fresh cookies in the nicely decorated and clean lobby and a welcoming staff. LOVED the multi-headed shower - nice surprise. And breakfast was good with lots of good choices such as cereal, fresh waffles, eggs, sausage, muffins and fruit. They're doing a really good job with this hotel. We will go back.

Been traveling a lot over the past 14 days. This is one of my favorite hotels I've stayed at. Good amenities. Very Clean. They served one of the best breakfasts I've had at a hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous.

Excellent location, friendly staff and fast service, comfortable and very large room, and marvelous breakfast. What more is there to say? Not very busy when we checked in without reservation at 7 PM. Large room with king size bed, desk, two comfortable chairs, closet, and large bathroom. Slept through a quiet night in the comfortable bed. Breakfast a special treat: lots of variety from omelette to French toast and make-your-own waffle. Four kinds of cold cereal including adult choices. Yogurt , toast, and muffins that were very special. Plenty to drink from tea to coffee to juices and milk. The pancake wrapped sausages looked like corn dogs, but the signs steered me to a delicious side. I didn't try everything, although I was tempted. Enjoy the hospitality and the good food. Spend a night. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent customer service. Clean rooms clean facility and helpful staff. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Breakfast is always good and did I mention that it's clean. I've stayed here twice and have no complaints.

The rooms were nice, and the staff was wonderful. The pool and hot-tub were great. Breakfast was average but good. The property is clean and kept up. For a $120 room, I expected more sound insulation. Halls were very loud in the morning.

Normally we stay at Comfort Suites due to our loyalty to the chain and we receive a discount. But they were full when booking so we went with Best Western. This location was clean, friendly, and breakfast was like most motel breakfasts. I feel it was a tad pricey though for Hays, Ks. I would have paid less for the same type of service and cleaniness. I will probably use again if needed & Comfort Suites is not available.

My family and I stayed at the Best Western the other night and you could tell they were busy. The lot was packed and multiple families in the pool. When you walk in it looks like you're walking into your family living room, with couches and chairs for people to sit while waiting for just to hang out. They also had fresh chocolate chip cookies and pink lemonade for anyone to take. The front desk staff was so accommodating, they asked us which floor we would like to be on (most hotels don't give you a choice). Also the girls that worked the front desk (I believe their names were Lexie and Leslie) were so sweet, cheerful, and helpful. They interacted with my husband, our kids, and myself. They were able to pick out an amazing family friendly restaurant for us and also told us some places we could take the kids for something fun to do. Once we got up to the room I was just blown away by how spacious and inviting it was. The beds were like sleeping on clouds. I have never gotten that good of a nights sleep in a hotel before. Breakfast was top notch for a hotel breakfast (not your typical plain jane breakfast). They served scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast burritos, and they also had two waffle makers which makes it a lot easier for a lot of people to use them. The way they have their breakfast room set up is perfect, it is not congested and isn't in the lobby like most hotels. The girl that checked us out (I believe her name was Brook) was very sweet. Overall, I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat!!

Nursing reunion & Homecoming for Fort Hays State University in Hays Kansas members of the class of 1965 graduating 50 years ago. Hospitality room in hotel made it possible for us to have a place to get together and visit.HOTEL

We had 4 rooms reserved over Labor Day weekend for a wedding party and guests on a debit card. When we checked in, it was made very clear (she repeated it back to us twice!) that all rooms would be charged to one particular "W R Stutz" credit card (as a gift to staying guests). VERY UNFORTUNATELY, one of the rooms was charged to the debit card, which did NOT have the money in the checking account to cover the Best Western Butterfield charge, which caused over $220 of overdraft fees, misc. bank charges and not to mention the emotional stress and grief. All the manager of the Best Western Butterfields could say was that it was a 'miscommunication' and "just tell the bank that it was a miscommunication and they will surely reverse the charges." What planet is she from? We have called several times with the last time Best Western Butterfield saying they could give us some rewards points. REALLY? Not interested, nor are we interested in staying at a Best Western again, especially the on in Hays, KS. There are many, many other choices!!

Have travelled a lot in my 73 years and this hotel had the most comfortable bed and pillows I have experienced. A very comfortable 4 nights of sleep. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Loved having 2 chairs (one with an ottoman) for hubby and I to sit in while watching TV. The mini-fridge and microwave were a nice touch. The breakfast was good, pretty much the same fare as other hotels. This will be our go to hotel in Hays.

Closest hotel to I-70. Nice rooms within microwave and fridge. Good free breakfast. Quiet. Pool and hot tub. Lots of restaurants nearby. Will stay here again. There is plenty of free parking by the front door.

This is a very clean hotel with large rooms - including a sitting area and micro/fridge. They have an indoor pool with an outside patio area. Breakfast was good. As we were traveling, its location right off I70 was very convenient, There are lots of mostly chain restaurants in the area - a good stopover for us.
