"Volaris package"
Tieri J, 14 Juillet 2018

This hotel was included in a package we purchased from Volaris. Although the room was small we didn't care, it came included with a safe. Towels were hit and miss so bring your own. The concierge was awesome and very helpful. The front desk spoke English but we speak Spanish so it worked out. The rooftop pool was priceless and the view was too. I read other reviews about the sky bar but it was still closed during our visit. We had to have our keys reprogrammed several times but not at the same time. We did come back to our room and the door opened without use of a key, only once. We didn't experience any problems other than that. The hotel is located near San Juan de dios, Libertad Market, Guadalajara Cathedral, and Mariachi square. We took Uber every where including Tlaqaparque and the average cost was around 3 to 5 US dollars. We ate out and the cost was about average 7 to 12 dollars for two people, if that. The bus terminal isn't that far away. We used that to get to Tequila and Chapalla. We stayed 4 days and 3 nights and I'd recommend doing an entire week to give yourself time to visit the nearby cities and attractions. I can't wait to return.

"OUTSTANDING"
H883QHshawns, 01 Janvier 2018

Safe caring hotel Javier ( the Cuban gentleman) at the front desk , a very pleasant gentleman was extremely helpful and caring. The other staff members followed closely as well. Many spoke English ,, although I speak Spanish and made my stay fun

"nice hotel, and central to just about anything"
jair0dr, 10 Juillet 2017

nice hotel to stay in, it is central too many activities. The market is literally right across the street where you will find all kinds of things (souvenirs, food, and many other trinkets) There is also a movie theatre right across as well if you feel like taking it easy and watching a movie. I do have to say the front desk was rude, and I did not enjoy having to deal with them, I found the doorman to be helpful, friendly and attentive.

"Last resort "
jeffswen, 03 Juin 2017

We arrived very early in Guadalajara. We had a 6 hour layover so tried to find a hotel that would let us check in the morning and leave later in the afternoon. Best Western Center historical was the only one that would do this. It's online as Best Western Plus. This is a motel this is not a hotel this is not a Best Western Plus. The charge on our credit card does not even come up as a Best Western. We got a call from the bank for suspicious activity and asked us if we are staying at hotel Los Reyes? We told them we are the Best Western in Guadalajara. So they blocked our credit card for suspicious activity for the duration of our vacation. Room was very small there was lots of long black hair in the bed the air conditioning barely works , the bathroom was very dirty and small.

"Is it really a Best Western?"
Maite G, 21 Mai 2017

Old, dirty rooms (hairs on the sheets!!) badly isolated. You can hear every noise from the street and from the hallway do you better bring earplugs or won't sleep. The maid knocked every single door at 9:00 to wake us up and check to clean the room! When I asked her to please stop doing that (last day it was the same) she said we shouldn't be in the room so late (?). The first morning we asked for a map on the front desk but they didn't have any. They weren't even sorry. In general, I really can't believe it's a 4 starts best western. It's very close to the city center and that's the only positive thing I can say.

"Superb Stay"

Location is great, room was clean and stamp was extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend this location. I will stay here again on my return. Excellent breakfast as well. The beds were comfortable and clean.

"Great Hotel Better Than Expected"
Michael D, 20 Avril 2017

Stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. Staff is very professional and knowledgeable. The building is clean and comfortable. The roof top pool and lounge are beautiful. You get vast views of the city in nearly every direction. Although the streets are very busy day and night and full of distractions, it was very comfortable and easy to sleep inside the hotel. There is a concierge during the day that can help you find good tours and attractions. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

"Dangerous at all levels"
ciaobellaciao, 25 Mars 2017

First of all. It's not culture shock. I lived in Mexico for several years, so has my husband. If you want to see more true reviews for this hotel, look at "Hotel Gran Plaza" this was the name of the property before being bought out by Best Western. It is in an area infamous for prostitution which already makes it a place you don't want to be with family. Second, the staff is very quiet and unfriendly. It's hard to make one feel welcome I'm sure when they know fully well that the pictures are deceptive. The room was very small with no space to put clothing except for a few cubby holes. The safe was broken and there were stains in the carpet. We decided to see if the pool was any better but my son had a rash the rest of the vacation due to the mold in the pool and on the tiles. He is very allergic. We decided to leave the hotel immediately when we returned to the room with my 8 year old. He went to look out the window which slid open with his elbow. He tipped forward a little but was ok as he was a little shorter. Still, this made my heart stop. I tried to close the window and it seemed to be broken, it wouldn't close all the way. We left that very instant. It took our entire first evening calling and making changes, but there is no way I would stay there or recommend anyone doing so. Also, when we got back to our room before the window incident, there was a group of about 6 men sitting outside our room drinking. They scooted for us to be able to get into the room but it just goes to show that this is poorly managed and maintained which only adds to the horrible area, cleanliness, and do not want to think what would have happened had my child been a little taller.

"Visit Tequila"
Arturo C, 20 Février 2017

Hi, i would like to recomend visit Tequila in Jalisco. You can enjoy different attractions, such as the Tequila tour, which shows how this drink is made, its origins, explore the factories that create it and admire the landscape agavero declared a natural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. Tour of the typical villages of Amatitan, Arenal, Tequila Jalisco. Visit agave fields and places that have become famous all over the world

Jean-Mora, 26 Mai 2016

"Broken shower bar."
Abraham M, 13 Avril 2016

Me and my mother stayed here for a week and we're recommend by one of our family members that this hotel was great. WRONG!!! They tried to make us pay for a shower towel bar that was already loose and they claimed that we broke it. We ended up paying the bill, last time we stay at this hotel. Go somewhere else. :(

"Cheap, cheerful and at times chaotic!"
EMM09, 25 Mars 2016

A last minute booking got us a great value room price, plus breakfast, in a part of town handy for the main sights. Neither scenic nor plush, the Best Western was adequately comfortable, clean and convenient - also close to the starting point for the great value Hop on-Hop off bus tour that usefully takes you to the wonderful Tlaquepaque and Tonalá market districts. It wasn't, as we discovered, quite so handy for good restaurants within walking distance of an evening, but the reception staff could not have been more helpful in their advice and directions to the best places. In fact, if rating this hotel by its staff alone, we'd give full marks. Even the rather vague bartender in the rooftop Sky Bar (ridiculously underused) who had no drinks to offer except beer or vodka (no mixers) did his best to assist, with limited resources. Ditto the truly delightful 'behind the scenes' kitchen lady at breakfast, whose name I wish we'd got, to thank her properly. Breakfast at busy times can feel like an acid house rave in a transport cafe: on our first morning we coincided with a Mexican coach party, with noise at top volume, no bread or coffee in sight, nowhere to sit, and none of the uniformed staff free to help. The kitchen lady had popped out to clear plates but, as soon as she deduced we were bemused foreigners, she took us under her wing and looked after us from start to finish, keen to tell us all about her native city and to hear about our travels. Of course it helped speaking Spanish, but it was the most wonderful welcome to a great place, and remains our brightest memory of a good stay.

"Guadalajara trip"
valrodriguez, 21 Mars 2016

Clean rooms. This used to be a different hotel before. The breakfast is not typical Best Western continental breakfast. Same breakfast everyday that we were there. Beans, scrambled eggs, chilequiles, fruit and basket of plain bread. Big restaurant. The Sky bar was not open on Saturday night due to lack of staff.

"Functional, great value, excellent location . . . just don't ask for a gin and tonic!"
thenov2015, 10 Janvier 2016

We stayed at the Best Western on a last-minute booking. As other reviewers have stated, the hotel is looking slightly tired and our room was functional (and the air conditioning is loud) albeit perfectly comfortable. But, on the other hand, this is a perfect location for exploring Guadalajara, excellent value for money and we weren't planning to stay inside the room the whole time. Also, we found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly, especially when we trying to negotiate the rather complex breakfast process which involves handing in a voucher that you ask for at Reception. One word of advice for the management: do make more of the Sky Bar on the top floor. While it has fantastic views over the city, it doesn't actually have many drinks! We asked for a gin and tonic (in English and Spanish) and the very pleasant barman looked completely blank. He had never heard of it. He showed us half a dozen bottles of spirits on the bar and we gathered this was all he had. We spotted some vodka and asked for a vodka and tonic. Another blank look. He had no idea what tonic was. And he certainly didn't have any in the bar. In the end we settled for a beer, which he had heard of and did indeed have in stock! It didn't spoil the view over a lovely city!

"Reservation"
Alexa R, 16 Août 2015

The customer service was horrendous. The receptionist was rude and had me prove that I had a reservation. After I printed my reservation he still did not make it valid he filled out a voucher just incase. I was in the reception about an hour trying to figure things out and will not stay there again. The room was clean I must say but not up to my Best Western standard..

"Not a kid friendly or safe place to stay"
g d, 06 Juillet 2015

We found the hotel online never had we stood in Guadalajara. They make the hotel look spectacular, being a Best Western Regards member and the online photos I thought our kids would enjoy the hotel. I would NOT recommend it to anyone especially if you have kids. It is NOT in a safe area. next door you have a Tattoo parlor, across the street a xxx rated magazine stand. You have girls walking around as if its a prostitution street. It does not have it's own parking lot. They do have valet paking two blocks down who knows how long it will take for you to get your car since the hotel is on a busy street. The lobby looks more like a Motel, the front desk is two feet from the main entrance along with the elevator. They do have a seating area in the lobby a little room less than 10x10 about 20 feet away from the front desk..... not an inviting place. We had reserved 4 rooms, as soon as we found the hotel and saw how the area around it was two of us got off just to cancel our reservation. We did not want to want to spend not one night in that hotel. We did not even care to see how the rooms looked. We figuered if this is how the area around it and the uninviting area I could just imagine what the rooms look like. We asked the front desk clerk that we wanted to cancel our reservation she called someone on the phone and told us we need to call the corporate office to cancel she was not able to help us and she gave us the 800# to call. as we are drviing away to look for a hotel to stay we called corporate. We are told they could not do anything for us that the hotel had to cancel our reservations, by this time we are about 20 min away from the hotel. The lady assisting me from corporate was really nice and I had to explain to her the reason of our cancelllaton was due to false online advertisment and how unsafe it was for us and the kids stay there. I even asked if they could just charge us for one night and cancel the other two, we were not going to stay there and we did not stay there. It did take us about an hour and half to finally get to a nicer part of town and found a hotel it was an actual hotel not a motel like Best Western. Please spend an extra $20 or more in our case we lost or may lose all of our 3 night points that we used and could have used them somewhere else. Our family memebers that also had to cancel will lose out on money since they had to pay for all 3 nights in advance. worst experience ever dealing with Best Western all around. they should not only show the hotel on line they should also show pictures of how it looks during the day and especially the night life.

"Tired hotel in good location"
Rob W, 25 Avril 2015

The hotel is looking very tired and desperately needs some refurbishment. Poky bathroom, old noisy air-conditioner, window that wouldn't close letting in street noise (even on the eighth floor) that went on all night - not the hotel's fault - street parties seem to be a regular norm.. The saving facts are that it is in a great location for the historic centre of the town, the staff were exceedingly attentive and tried very hard and the rooftop pool and bar offered great views of the city. Tap water not being safe they offer unlimited complimentary bottled water and continual complimentary coffee in the lobby.

"Very central and friendly"
BlackForestPV, 17 Avril 2015

We enjoyed very much our stay at the Best Western Hotel in Centro Historico, Guadalajara, the rooms were funcional and very clean. Contrary to our expectations it was very quiet. The staff was very attentive with a special focus on personal attention. The only thing that we did not enjoy was the breakfast, it was partly cold and the salad did not have a dressing available. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the hotel to those you would like to be close to the center of Guadajara.
