Best Western Plus Aldhem Hotel

Second stat at this hotel with Comfortable beds. Local and quite sensible food. Wifi worked ok. Welcoming hotel staff. Good access to road network, with car parking. (Frozen puddles of surface water in cold weather). Popular with business people.

The hotel is located south-east region of Antwerp, on the motorway at about 30 minutes of drive (but it could take more than an hour in case of traffic). It is a Best Western Plus with many rooms and clearly business oriented. Rooms are quite old, and cleanliness is not top-notch. Because of the old walls, the smell in corridors and connecting walks is not always so pleasant. However, the staff is very gentle and friendly. The offer at the breakfast is generous and varied. Forget the coffee though. They serve hot instant coffee. The restaurant is ok. And they have also a nice bar, where one can get something to drink and something quick to eat. From my point of view, overall it's a little less than average and scores 2.66 out of 5.

No complaints about the room, in fact they are quite nice. well appointed and clean. Had dinner in the "Orangerie" and decided to choose a "traditional" Flemish Vol au Vent aka Chicken Fricasee with salad and fries. It tasted like cream of chicken from a can poured over a biscuit. Was salty, pasty, chewy chicken, and some little balls of something that i couldnt tell. Simply really bad. I ate about 1/3rd and was done. I asked for ketchup an mayo for the fries and got 1 packet each. I told the waiter(s) that it wasnt good and one waiter had the gall to tell me I was the FIRST EVER to say such a thing. Then when i received the bill i saw there was a 1 eu charge each for the ketchup and mayo. SERIOUSLY?? They did nothing to adjust the meal and assured me it was standard practice to charge. ( they were going to remove the ketchup and mayo but one of the waiters was so adamant about my taste and the charge I told him, no.. keep it on. For sure i will not eat here again and I can only hope that the included breakfast will be ok. again. rooms are fine, but the food, an insult to the chicken who made up the dish. To the chef.. go on line and look at some pictures and tell me that it resembles what you served.

Sound proofing quality is very low you can hear the door slamming and the noise of the guests, request are always denied. Example extra key card for the children room extra key card does not cost anything and will be returned during check out cant see any reason why they are not able to provide one, hair dryer is broken cant provide any extra so if it is winter you have to go out with a wet hair, no hotel slippers, not complimentary bottled water employee are under pressure and not enough . We have been to Best Western in Menton, Bologna, Paris, Padova, Milan and Nice service is great and how they handle their guests is really over satisfying and you will feel comfortable.

Friendly staff, diversified breakfast, good food, possibility for company events, close to the motorway-however quiet location, free parking; canal, gym, cardio, small pool and sauna for after work activities

The hotel has an interesting architecture, the room was clean and spacious, good design, excellent mattress on the beds, lots of accessories (even a trousers press for those who need that). The bathroom is well equipped also. Great breakfast, many good quality options. The staff was very kind and helpful.

I came often in your hotel, and your service is godd but i want to suggest to the hotel's management to supply towels side xl in the rooms because when I finish my shower is very difficul using tour little Towels!!!

We only had one night here for work so was a swift visit. The room was really lovely and super comfy. The restaurant meals were absolutely huge and sooo delicious. Some of our group enjoyed the sauna and pool, the rest of us enjoyed the bar!!!

The rooms are very clean with fast wifi and a desk. Breakfast is very good with a lot of choice, only it starts late, 6 am would be better. Luckily they offer breakfast to go free of charge.The meals I had in the restaurant we're delicious, maybe a bit overpriced? The staff is always ready to help and friendly, especially the young woman in bar and resto is very friendly, professionally and clearly enjoys her job. The check in was fast and welcoming. Definitely would go back.

I found this hotel very comfortable, clean and with all the amenities of a great hotel. Inside there are health and leisure clubs (heated indoor pool, sauna, Turkish steam bath, fitness area), the outdoor garden and terrace, 2 good restaurant and a breakfast room a good bar and it is cover in place with a good working WI-FI Suggested for convention

This is one of the nicest hotels I experienced in the North East part of Antwerpen. The hotel is simple and not luxury but it has all the essential element for a perfect stay. The breakfast is very rich and of good quality. I was with a large group and everyone was pleased.

This hotel has very friendly and helpful staff on the front desk, in the bar and in the restaurant. There are two elevators from the lobby to all floors. The room was clean and spacious and I was able to work with ease using the hotel wifi. The room heating did not seem to work very well, so I was very glad of the secondary electric heater (manual) on the wall, and the corresponding unit in the bathroom. The shower unit was found to be a touch on the small side, but adequate, there was a bath (not used) for those that do not like showers. The double sink unit was very useful. The tea and coffee were the Belgian normal, with packets of creamer rather than fresh milk. The cups were very small. It would have been nice to have had an espresso machine in there with a suitable selection of capsules. The bar area was very functional with a higher seating area or tables to chose from, and food was also served in here from a reasonable menu. Breakfast was self-service and had a good range of food styles ranging from strictly continental (bread, cheeses, cold meats, fruits, coffee) to cereals to Hot (cooked full English). Teas, coffee and juices were all available, plus fresh breads assorted. All in all, a very adequate and functional modern hotel.

Pleasant place to stay; room are large and confortable. Bathrooms standards but all equipped. Very nice bar and restauranr with good choice of drinks and food. Heating somehow difficult to regulate. Good bedings

We used as a stop over on our way to Germany. Location is good, the hotel was clean and tidy. However Food was presented nicely but quality was poor for the cost and room was cold and aircon made little difference

Party of 3 one night stay in business. Whilst the building is imposing from the outside and the entranceway a little industrial, the warm welcome and pleasant interior make up for it. Out of three rooms one was very spacious, one less so in the attic space with low headroom. The beds were very comfortable with good quality linen, good range of toiletries, minibar choice and tea/coffee. WiFi fast and reliable. Good choice at breakfast. Good value for money and would choose to stay again. Didn't like strong smell of disinfectant from toilets near lifts on second floor.

We arrived a lot later than planned on Monday but the staff were kind enough to feed us so late in the evening. All the staff were more than friendly and nothing was too much trouble, thank you all very much. Pool is lovely and never too busy. Playground was suitable for both a 3-year and 1-year old. Food and drink were a bit pricey but lovely.

Loved this place! I was there for 4 days, and my stay was amazing! Price and quality are perfect!very nice staff, nice swimming pool nice terrasse and hiking possibilities around the hotel! Also very quiet!

Nice hotel just out of the motorway exit. Smiley and attentive staff, both at reception and dinner. Huge parking place, bar and restaurant are at the hotel, so no need to get out A la carte restaurant offering a very good and attentive service, and the quality of meals are very good too. Flawless breakfast, veryt comfy bed A quite good breakfast in the morning will let you start the business day in the right mood. Thanks!

I visited this hotel on business on 14th May. The lobby and public areas were nicely decorated but the bedooms are a little outdated. No usb charger ports, the bathrooms are very small . The beds were very comfortable but too many cushions in the way!

Price / quality is very ok. Friendly hotel staff, enough parking places (and free), breakfast is ok and clean rooms. The hotel is near the high way and near a quite busy secondary road. For me that was no problem. If I have to mention a disadvantage, then it's the food in the restaurant and bar. A bit over-priced and small portions.

The hotel is very easy to get to and has ample free parking. The rooms seem to have been updated since my last visit which was very much needed. The gym is accessed from the 4th floor via stairs but is a little dissapointing, strange layout with two seperate rooms but better than nothing. Having previously stayed here and finding the female receptionist very unfriendly I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly the welcome was from a man covering reception and the bar - (I didn't get his name, he had glasses if that helps!) I would stay here again in future.

Christmas party in Aldhem hotel was really bad. Nice setting but food wasnt good and I guess most of the people had to go and have food at home since it was simply not enough! Its a pitty! No idea if this is part of this hotel.

In short: Rooms are quiet Not lavish but functional Bar is ok. I say that because a G&T is well served (always good news) but does take a long time.. Food - for what we had - middle of the road. In business terms the meeting rooms are good. Fresh air French doors can be opened and the ceiling height is conducive to open feel. I understand it's recently refufurbed so if you've been here before - why not try again? Compliments to the team at this hotel - I noted many, still smiling, after long shifts. Good work guys x

Upon arrival, this hotel asks you to fill out a paper form containing your credit card number, as warranty against damages you might cause (the room was prepaid in this case). This procedure is very unusual and very unsafe compared to electronic procedures where the hotel staff cannot access your credit card number. Having been subject to credit card fraud a couple of times, I will avoid this hotel in the future.

I stayed here while visiting Graspop festival. It is only 30 minutes from the festival and is situated close to a large road so is easy to get to. There is also ample parking on site. We arrived in the early hours of the morning, someone greeted us at reception and was really helpful, even while most people would be sleepy! Our room was wonderful, clean and spacious with a large bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable and large. Breakfast was excellent, there was a large selection of hot and cold choices, and some tasty drinks available. Overall we had a great stay and if I return to the area I will definitely consider staying here again.

We spend two weeks in Europe, Belgium and Berlin ( Germany). This was the best hotel we stayed at. Great service . Large and very clean rooms. High speed WiFi in the rooms. Fantastic full breakfast. The best we had in all the hotels. Free parking and restaurant on site. AC in the rooms. You need a car to get there as it is not located close to towns.

Hotel is ok - in a nice location, whithin a forest. Added bonus it has a swimming pool which was thouroughly enjoyable by my daughter and i espeically as we were the only one there. The rooms aren't the most luxurious, but enough for a night. Bar menu a little limited.

Everything was fine. Needed a little help with the air conditioning but they quickly handled it. Bar staff really good. Reception sometimes a bit slow to acknowledge customers. Room ok. Large bathroom and shower. Two safes! Tea and coffee in room. Mini bar and usual extras. No complaints.

We use this hotel when staying in Belgium as it is close to family in Grobbendonk, easier than travelling from Antwerp every day. The hotel is nice and quiet has a good resturant and bar and the breakfast is excellent especially on a sunday. It has a very good swimming pool so take gear with you. It is also close to Herentals to spend a morning and always Antwerp, our favourite place to explore then to come back and relax in the bar.

This is a hotel just of the junction of the highway so is a bit isolated from other facilities. The rooms have been refurbished since I last stayed and they have done a good job. The rooms aren't the biggest but are comfortable enough with good beds and nice cleanly designed bathrooms. I arrive at 21:00 on a Sunday so there was very little choice for food, just a bar menu. I hadn't stayed here for quite a while as it had become very tired. Clearly vastly improved and now back on my positive list

A nice, quiet and friendly place, located in the middle of a "virgin" forest, near to Herentals, the hotel offer clean rooms, good restaurants and bar services and excellent facilities for conferences or company reunions. Access is very easy from the highway.

I think the rooms have been updated lately and we were surprised for a Best Western hotel. The rooms are big, the bed is comfortable (a true queen/king size bed, and not 2 single beds pushed together), plenty of decent towels and bathroom amenities, minibar... A good business or stopover hotel and value for the money.

Nice Hotel, big rooms, and good breakfast, easy access to highways if you have car. The bathroom and the bed are very good, nice staff and attention. If you don't have car could be a little complicated

As stated by others this is conveniently located off the highway to Antwerp. A good three star, you get everything you need, even a decent bar and restaurant. Rooms are fine and functional with large clean bathroom and free wifi. God, efficient service. The only thing was a lack of fitness room even though it's advertised......may be under renovation?

Very handy stopover hotel, with a surprisingly acceptable restaurant. Efficient and pleasant staff. Easy reach of motorway, and well placed for alternative restaurants. Parking was a problem one night when there was a daytime event running into the evening.

It's a drive-in hotel -- no doubt about that. But the Aldhem Hotel is very good at what it does. Located just off the E313 motorway, and adjacent to the Albert Canal, The Best Western Plus Aldhem is well-managed, clean and appropriately priced. While not necessarily spacious, the rooms are nicely furnished, with good practical features such as lighting and charging outlets; the mid-sized bathroom is equally functional and pleasant. The free wifi was surprisingly fast and robust, which was a significant benefit for us. Plenty of options were offered at the included breakfast, too. While not accessible to train travel nor near tourist attractions, the Aldhem achieves the Holy Grail of business travel goals: "transparent" accommodations, those which, through comfort and functionality, allow the traveler to focus on the tasks at hand, knowing that all one's daily needs are met.

The Hotel is located near to Antwerpen besides a buisy road (still not very noisy). It is not easy to reach unless you use car or taxi. Public transport is a very weak option so if you would like to go out for the night it is not the place to stay. Basic but new and clean rooms. Very friendly staff and the kitchen is something brilliant for dinner!! Breakfast is average. Sauna is hot and there is a small pool but their quality is low. If you have never visited Belgium before bevare of the size of the drinks: they are extremely small. Beers are very good and strong but they are served in 0.25, maximim 0.33 glass so forget the good pint! Vine and juices are coming in 0.1,. 0.2 glasses as if we were in Lilliput. There is a quite posh restaurant about 200 m from the hotel with good food and (small but good) drinks.

I stayed here for 4 nights. It was close to the motorway exit but not much else seemed close by. I ate at the hotel one of the nights & the food was nice & reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good & had a good selection compared to other hotels I stayed in in Europe.The bar area is nice but seemed very quiet everytime I went down there. I had a room on the top floor that was comfortable & clean. It was a little small but it was only me & had everything I needed at a good rate. I noticed there is a children's play ground outside if your travelling with younger children. During my stay I went for walks in the evening along the nearby canal, about 3 mins walk away. I think you would need a car staying here as it seemed very quiet around the area.

This hotel is located close to highway but far from any tourist attractions. 100% you need car to commute. This hotel needs renovation and they doing it bit by bit. Friendly service and good food. Swimming pool is nice.

I was quite happy with my stay at this contemporary hotel. The location is somewhat rural while the facility seems relatively new and quite lovely. The rooms are rather nice, the service is good and the morning breakfast is adequate. The room rates are very reasonable by my estimate considering the quality of the product they offer. I was working with my Benelux distributor and needed a hotel near our morning appointment. In my search, I found this place and was happy to give it a try. The reviews were good and I am a Best Western Diamond member. This causes me to gravitate toward BWs, especially in Europe where they tend to fit my budget unlike other US chains. My distributor gave me a ride to the hotel. It was relatively easy to find via GPS though the location was a bit out of the way. It was actually very impressive upon approach as the contemporary design sported somewhat striking aesthetics. The lobby area was small and non-traditional but was also interesting like the exterior. The open area in the entry also reflected the contemporary facility design. I was checked in quickly by a friendly attendant and she gave me a room on the first level. Upon arrival at my room, I found it to be clean and spacious. The view was nothing special but that was more of a function of the surroundings. The furnishings and decor were interesting and appealing. The work area was adequate and the bathroom facility was well laid out. The bed was comfortable and the environs were quiet allowing me to get good sleep. The amenities were in order and the WiFi worked well during my stay. The hotel grounds were actually very nice. There was a tennis court as well as play area for kids. There was virtually nothing within walking distance, however, so it was fortunate that the hotel restaurant offered a good dinner option. The morning breakfast was more than adequate. There were several favorites and it provided a good start to the morning. There were both a few hot items as well as cold items such as breads, fruit and cereals. The room rate was excellent. The AAA rate was €98.10. This was about $115 USD with the exchange rate at the time. I was happy with this rate and thought it was a very good deal. Overall, this is a good option for those who have business in the area. The facility is nice and the location is quiet and out of the way. The rooms are very nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast is quite adequate and the room rate is excellent for what you get making it a terrific deal. I will look forward to my next stay if I have business in the area again.

I visited BEST WESTERN PLUS Aldhem Hotel in October 2015 during a conference meeting. It is a typical, large conference hotel with 68 well equipped rooms and all the necessary facilities for a conference. It is near the highway 313 Antwerp – Eindhoven, but you will not notice it in the hotel. Rooms and meeting rooms make it a rather large, modern building. There is a large entrance hall running out into the bar and the dining room. Check in/check out went very smoothly and staff is very kind and helpful. I booked directly with the hotel, asking for a quiet room, which I got. I occupied room 205, a very nice single room, with a large bed in it. The mattress is very good, although a little bit soft. The pillows, filled with a kind of plastic filling, feel very warm which is rather unpleasant. By folding a large towel on them makes it more enjoyable to lie on. Under the working table there is a mini bar with a lot of drinks in it. Opposite the bed there is a large LCD-TV, with only 3 Belgian and 2 foreign channels. Perhaps more channels are possible, but there is no instruction booklet. There is plenty of room to store your clothes, there is even a trouser press. Wifi is for free and very stable. I did not use the air-conditioner, so I cannot comment on it. As the room is rather small, there is no need for the small round table and the second chair. The bathroom is rather small, but well equipped with all amenities you need, even a toothbrush and toothpaste and 4 towels. There is a bath tub with shower, but it is not recommendable to take a shower, because the bath is fairly smooth and the safety grip is on the other side of the bath tub opposite the shower. The hot/cold breakfast buffet is abundant and of rather good quality, except the coffee. Several kinds of bread, a lot of milk, meat and cheese products. There are several kinds of juices and fresh fruit. I had dinner in the restaurant, which was very good. All in all, the hotel is very recommen

I've been at the hotel for business reasons, it is really confortable. Rooms are clean and big, everything is relative new. The surronding area is really quite. The location is close to the highway. I've bee also at the restaurant, they have a good choice and the level of quality is good. Overall I am satisfied.

Came here cycling on a rainy day and thought I'd treat myself to something nice. I was not disappointed. My room had everything it needed, it was clean and in contrast to other reviews, my bathroom was in a perfect state. Nice pool area, unfortunately the sauna is only heated in the evenings, and... as in so many hotels, it does not get really hot, but at least you can make it feel hotter by pouring water on the stones yourself. The Turkish bath had the right temperature though and it had a nice aroma. But please... put some soap/shampoo dispensers in the showers there. I don't want to know how many people forget their own and then use the facilities not properly washed. Breakfast deserves a medal. So much choice and always replenished. Service at the reception was very nice.

Located just off the Antwerp - Hasselt motorway this hotel is ideally situated for a peaceful stay in the wooded countryside. Everything about this hotel is scrupulously clean. I had an excellent large room with aircon and a forest view. Really comfortable beds. Excellent breakfasts majoring on Continental but also offering scrambled egg and bacon. My trip was only B&B so I did not try the restaurant a la carte. The public rooms are large and airy plus there is a pool table for recreation. The breakfast room is separate from the dining room. There is plenty of car parking space and large garden areas. Excellent value and full marks.

It is a serene location. Have everything needed in a business hotel. Food was typical european. However there were few vegetarian options. it has good conference and meeting facility, bar and restuarant. Issue - my AC was not working.
