Tried this place twice hoping the 1st review might change things. Pool still not heated (why have a pool), hot tub was ok. Had a room safe. Body wash dispenser empty (isn't housekeeping suppose to check stuff like that) ? Loose tub fixtures (in both rooms). A/C could have been better but it was working. The more people that checked in the wifi signal got weaker. Actually had to go to the lobby to use my laptop. Only had 2 bars for the local 5G network. Room door might get a bit drafty in the colder months. Denny's, Walmart and Dollar Tree in walking distance. What more do you need ? Hotel had a pretty good breakfast selection. Simple. Front desk staff were nice.
Not the worst , not the best. Ceilings were thin could here bigfoot.bathrooms were slightly grimey.but they did stick to the listed rate and they also provided a luggage cart. Receptionist was ok not real friendly but not rude. The whole stay was slightly blah
TV did not work and no one came to fix, after saying that they would. Safe was locked. We could not use, and could not get an answer on the phone to be able to get someone to come up to unlock it. Got into the shower and there was absolutely no shampoo, no body wash, and no conditioner. Wanted to put something in the refrigerator, and there were crumbs in the refrigerator where it had not been wiped out.
Stayed for 5 days, towels were terrible, Wi-Fi never worked. No place to hang towels in bathroom. Noises late at night by other guests mostly young workers. Water transfer on tube almost fell off when you used it. Pillows need to be upgraded. Not enough choices for breakfast if they ran out of something only put a certain amount
Upon checking in our TV didn't work we called the front desk he came up and said he couldn't fix it I told him it was late it's okay we're just going to bed the next morning we went down to breakfast breakfast was really good we told the front desk if she could fix the TV she had maintenance there within minutes he fixed the problem we left to go do a few things came back and the maid had entered our room and put all the clean bedding towels everything on the bed but forgot to make the bed and she also took the shower curtain so we had to request for a shower curtain she probably forgot about the room not sure but other then that room was clean looked good, I've added breakfast items for 1 of the days we stayed, menu changes daily, this is 1 of the main reasons I choose this hotel, save money on breakfast for the family
When you drive up to the hotel, you're a little apprehensive to begin with, it's a little run down around it. It was busy in the lobby with check in and the guy on duty wasn't friendly at all with any of us waiting, I believe his name was Jermaine.. This is a 2 story hotel with an outside entrance, no elevator. We did get a room on ground level which was good. Room was bigger than expected however the AC never really cooled the room down . I would maybe have given it 3 stars however the room wasn't clean at all. Floor dirty, didn't look like it had been swept at all, I dropped something on the floor and when I went to pick it up you could see all kinds of trash under the cabinet. The tub was dirty, with hair in it. The check out lady was very nice.
No elevator to 2 nd floor was the main reason for 4 stars. After a very long drive we didn't want to lug all of our luggage up stairs- the clerk was very accommodating and gave up a 1st floor room. Pool and hot tub a plus. Breakfast was good, nothing special. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
Very comfortable bed with comfortable pillows. Room was clean with some upgrades. Newer, but smallish, TV and direct tv. Plugs available in both sides for phone chargers. Newer vinyl plank flooring and no carpeting (in our room). Indoor pool and hot tub open until 10:00 pm. Free breakfast.
Non smoking room smelled faintly of smoke. Beds were comfy and clean. No one at the front desk to check in for 15 minutes. When the lady finally walked in through the lobby she walked behind the counter, grabbed something and walked out, pausing as she left again to say "I'll be back ". Terrible check in!! Breakfast was good, I was expecting the worst.
This hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. The rooms are just like the pictures. The area felt safe, and we had a lovely chinese buffet just up the road. They had made an effort with breakfast, unlike most of the hotels on our 3 week trip providing cooked porridge, fried bread and omlette. We used the pool and the hot bath, and they were both very clean. My husband does a lot of swimming, and he said it was one of the cleanest pools he had swam in. Would definitely recommend it.
I was bummed when I found out that SureStay does not have a gym, but Best Western Plus does. There was a Best Western Plus right across. SureStay also had a free continental breakfast, but Best Western Plus had a free hot breakfast. Maybe I should have searched more on your website before making the reservation.
I stay here for business whenever I'm in town. Was traveling for pleasure and stayed here. Same great service and clean room on the weekend as I'd found on week nights.
Rooms are clean and good location. Very old and historic Furnitures that need immediate replacement. Sleep quality not great as bed was not comfortable by any measure. Service by front desk staff is very poor. Rude in communication and unfriendly approach to customers. Would not stay again
GROSS! DIRTY SHEETS FROM PREVIOUS GUEST! When I pulled back the sheets to get into bed, I noticed blood and feces on the sheets. I obviously freaked out and went to the front desk. She couldn't do anything, said she was there by herself. Gave me one clean sheet. Did not offer to give me another room. It was late and we already had everything unloaded from the car, so I slept on top of the bedspread. In the morning, I took the sheet down to the front desk. The manager was not there, they couldn't do anything as far as a refund. SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT CHANGING SHEETS!
Enjoyed the overnight stay. We were returning home from visiting family in Kentucky. The room was great. Very spacious and clean. We will definitely make this hotel our stopping spot on future trips.
The SureStay by Best Western is a fine, moderately priced, hotel. It is convenient to Interstate 40, west of Albuquerque. The very comfortable beds had firm mattresses and multiple fluffy pillows. The bathroom was larger than usual, with enough space for an ironing board [which was supplied] and for unpacking suitcases. The large bathroom mirror had indirect lighting surrounding it. Recommend this hotel to people travel through New Mexico on Route 40.
You reviewed SureStay Hotel by Best Western Grants. May 8, 2024 1.0 BEWARE!!!!!! Disliked · I cannot speak to the stay itself as we did not have the opportunity to actually stay there. The night of arrival in April the 40 highway was shut down....I was in continual contact with the receptionist while stuck in traffic (did not yet know why) saying that the arrival may not happen. She said the hotel would not charge me if we could not make it and to stay in touch (I did). After several hours and only a few miles gained...the highway patrol re directed ALL traffic on 40W to head back to Albuquerque due to a train derailment. The only cars allowed through had to show proof of residency for the area. It was IMPOSSIBLE to reach the hotel...no other freeways to take. Fast forward to my credit card statement charging me for a night stay. I contacted the hotel directly and spoke to the mgr. who eventually offered me a 50% refund (and only after escalating with a call to BW corporate HQ). This because is I did not give a 24 hr notice for cancellation!!!!! Booking.com was not able to offer any resolution, either. I was aware of the BW cancellation policy, but there was no physical way to physically make it to the hotel, and I was in constant contact with the hotel staff. I am VERY disappointed in the treatment of this BW customer. BEWARE! Even if law enforcement is turning you away, you will NEVER receive a full refund. No common sense and terrible customer service
After a long and tiring week from work, sure stay is a great place to relax with friends. Amenities are superb and staff are all friendly and accommodating
There was flies in bathroom. Dissatisfaction. Bathtub needs clean more. Internet speed was average. Bedding was good
Comfortable hotel, polite staff, squeaky clean. Comfortable bed, comfortable air-conditioning good shower nice breakfast in the morning. Easy parking by the room, so very little bag drag. Quiet environment, virtually no traffic noise. What could you ask for?
A dated Hotel with a very noisy heating system. The beds are okay but not great. Coffee was not good which is important for me. The rest of breakfast can be awful but give me good coffee and I'm fine. Room is clean and functional and I really like that Sure Stays do not have carpet. This hotel has a nice heated pool which would make kids very happy.
We checked in on February 19, 2024 @9 P.M. Sadly, we cannot remember the woman's name who was at the desk ~ however we insist on it being known how kind & helpful she was! An absolute joy to meet & definitely an asset to your place of business!!
Rooms are nice, location isn't too bad as far as food etc. But the price of the room (any room in Grants NM) is way over priced. Rooms in DFW, Nashville, San Antonio are even better priced and those are huge city's with actual things to do. Grants is a simple town with nothing but over priced motels!!!
Everything was great. Room was clean, and Evie was great! Thanks again. We even went into the jacuzzi and had a great time. Whenever we pass through this area we will definitely be booking here again.
Normally I stay at Super 8 or Motel 6 to save $$$ on expenses when I travel for business, but for $7 a night more I got all anybody could want @ Sure Stay best Western. This is a welcome surprise in today's world when prices for accommodations are going through the roof. Finally, somebody got the memo that those of us independent business owners who have to travel for business and the expenses are out of our own pockets, would love to have the better hotels that keep their prices competitive... Sure Stay solves that problem.
The staff was wonderful, the hotel is clean, everything was in working order, the rooms are large and the bathroom was the largest I've seen, the food is fresh and the pool area was very clean. We will definitely stay here again.
This is a lovely hotel the lady Evy at the front desk is wonderful ..first time someone called after in room to make sure it was ok .. freshly decorated bed comfy and room clean .. Pool and hottub where wonderful bonus. Right beside Walmart .. no complaints at all for our one night stay .. would def recommend
This hotel does not even compare the actual bets western. It's an old outdated hotel that has been somewhat renovated. Bed room area is decent, but beds were NASTY looking, and the bathtub was old and disgusting. Definitely needs replaced. The door to our room did not even close all the way.
Great budget hotel-good lighting, clean, desk, refig(larger than most), comfortable bed . Pool and hot tube nice.the outside looks a little run down but inside is great. Breakfast Continental but good selection.
I gave this property a high rating not because it is a premier hotel, but because it is a great economy hotel. Everything in my room worked, plus it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast area was on the small side, but it had some hot food options, in addition to fruit and cold cereal. I recommend giving this place a try, if you are traveling through Grants, NM, instead of some much more expensive options at the same I-40 exit.
Not far from Albuquerque and surrounded by Indian reservation land, this is a nice, comfortable budget motel near the freeway. The motel appears to be renovated from an older design. Rooms have nice furnishings. My only two problems were that I couldn't control the air conditioning very well and that I found a bevy of ants around the bath sink. Good overnight for Chaco, El Malpais or other park lands. Breakfast better than most. Even gets a daily newspaper.
Dangerous Place To Stay …Drunks & Loud Music & Drunks Parties yelling at children & families; no one could control or contain them! This is not the place you want to stay if you have family! Very aggressive & so loud! Stomping the flour thru the night because we reported them! IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP IN HELL; you are at the right place!
Hotel just needs a bit of upgrading, but overall decent for a place to sleep one night. Hot tub very cloudy, and it would be nice if hours for it were extended a bit. Only got 15 minutes before being kicked out at 9PM.
We love this hotel. We love the Grants area and frequently visit El Malpais, so we were thrilled to find this gem. Great value, clean, and restaurants and stores within walking distance. Friendly and helpful front desk. We'll be staying here in the future.
Decent clean spacious rooms, average customer service, loud broken ac unit, no elevator, breakfast not much options, close proximity to highway for travel, indoor pool and spa but closed early at 9pm, average stay not too impressed, most likely would not stay here again.
Staff was friendly, room was clean and bedding was good. One thing I would point out is that it is not a hotel, its a motel. Despite what their website says, there is no elevator - only a covered outdoor stairwell. They did have a nice variety of breakfast items including three milk options -whole, 2% and almond. Also nice variety of fruit juices-cranberry, orange and apple. Pool and hot tub were nice also.
Evey the front office clerk made the check-in process smooth and easy. The rooms were clean. I brought my service dog and did not have many areas to walk except the parking lot, but there was a fake turf area on the side and front of the hotel.
I would like to thank the Lady in charge was a lifesaver for me (I didn't have a reservation due to some troubles on the road) and was able to give me a room and apply the veteran discount on top of making sure I had everything I need to make my stay an outstanding one. the room was very clean with all the amenities needed. The bed was very comfy to the point I slept 9 hours straight. Breakfast was diversified and very good. almost the same you would get in a best western plus. kudos to the staff in place and keep up the good work.
You get what you pay for. Towels were worn so thin. Just very used towels. Box spring on one bed broken. Room access from outside doors. Motel not hotel. Just dated and cheap. Heater very noisy every time it kicked on. For not much more per night you would get better
I stayed here one night. Positively, the room was quiet and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Negatively, the Internet connection was a little spotty, and the chair in the room was stained and worn.
The hotel was nicer than I expected and represented a great value. All the basics for a one night stay were in place and we would have no hesitancy to book here again. Very convenient to I40 and a comfortable distance from big cities.
Rooms need deep cleaned more often (if they do at all) and the water pressure is poor. Didn't get to report as the desk was not staffed in the morning when we left. Should be standard operating procedures for the cleaning crew to move the bed to remove other people's trash. Mattress was lumpy.
I broke down on I -40 on my move across the country when the trie on my trailer flew off. I came in late at night for a last-minute room and Jessica was amazing she had a wonderful conversation and really went out of her way to be nice. I believe she could tell I was stressed out because of the tire. she got me a room at a good rate. We left early so didn't really enjoy the hotel but she made all the difference. Thank you so much for your care
It's odd that this hotel has tripadvisor managment pictures that do not match the actual hotel, for example, the pictures of the breakfast area were not the place we experienced. And I never saw any indication of a Sure Stay naming convention. We found the hotel to be clean and adequate for our stay enroute. Breakfast is always my benchmark and waffles, breakfast burritos, french-fry-like potatoes were offered. Coffee was plentiful. Our breakfast attendant was helpful and gracious. Some say it's odd that you had to "walk to a different building" for check-in and breakfast, but it's shorter than many walks I've had inside a hotel. Plus is a Dairy Queen next door :) Note to mgmt: add some outside seating that is not the "smoking bench".
Pulled out my own sheets to lay on top the beds because the bedding was soiled. Fleas in the room & on the bed and some dirty towels. Bathtub was dirty and the tub faucet was bent sideways. Host was great! I was sooo tired from driving, I just didn't bother to complain.
From the moment we pulled in, we knew it was less than advertised. I specifically indicated I was traveling with a dog and it was "not on record." The staff person was a little rude about it and could only offer a smoking room on the 1st floor, so we had to take all of our stuff up two flights of stairs because no elevator was available. There was long black hair on the bathroom wall and in the shower. The decorative drawer pulls on the bathroom vanity were missing leaving the unfinished holes. The chair in the room had a distinct foot long stain down the side. The bed sunk in the middle and even our dog was disturbed by something she could smell underneath the fitted sheet. We only received ONE large bath towel and the other hand towels were old and all were of poor quality. The walls were marked and dirty. The room coffee had creamer that was old and just floated on the top (threw it away). The worst part was the location and trash around the property. I tried to take our dog to the front fake grass and found what looked like a dead baby bird or mouse fetus. There were also a lot of people drinking and smoking outside their rooms which made it very noisy. It was not a relaxing night after 11 hours of driving! Stay at the actual Best Western -- preferably a Plus!!
Dirty rooms, Employees don't care about customers, No Hot water because they do laundry, they come in your room for no reason so keep your top lock on when you are in there don't think your do not disturb sign matters either!
Booked online as for a large room didn't get it got a regular room got into the room toilet overfloated there was a lake in the bathroom and it just to another room room they moved his who didn't have AC they didn't keep the breakfast up to the time they said there's no food it was horrible never will I ever go back there again stay away they don't care about customers
Nice place which was very clean. It was pretty basic but that's all I was looking for. The TV was small though. Breakfast was pretty limited but adequate. They had one waffle iron, muffins, bagels, etc. coffee was good. I might stay here again.
the room was so dirty it looked like it was not clean in months and they had pills on the floor the tub was full of soap scum the sides of the toilet were dirty the floors were not mopped the only thing I can say that is good about this place was the lady at the front desk was nice
The hotel feels old, but staff does their best to keep it clean and treats guests well. The air conditioner is too noisy and you can hear your neighbors plumbing, but I think all this relates to the age of the hotel. It's clean and pretty good for an overnight stay
Our stay at any other Best Western Hotel/Inn/Suites have been satisfying for us thus far; and usually has been comfortable and great! But this SureStay in Grants NM needs major improvements…from the dingy, thin, worn out bathtowels/Linen and cig burned bedding, to the Bad Service/Attitude of the front desk. Sorry but not sorry, I know I would appreciate someone fore-warning us about this and saving us from this experience. It's not totally about the $ but the principle and profession of this establishment. But the decision is yours, of course. I'm Just saying…. Happy travels ✌️
The first room we were given the tv didn't work at all, room was filthy, stains on all bedding. Toilet paper not put on roll, clock was not set and the phone was not plugged in. Asked for a different room when the tv wouldn't work after a reboot. Pool not functioning! The second room was just as filthy. It's only 1 towel for a room with 2 queen beds. No elevator and stairs are dangerous to walk up. Breakfast was a joke. We went to dennys instead.
The coffee maker did not work. The refrigerator was broken. Animal hair all over the lounge chair. Bathroom floor was dirty. Shower had hair all over it. Checkout morning house keeping knocked our door four time starting at 8:20AM. I didn't expect the Ritz but this place was terrible. Try somewhere else.
Thank you Chris, Evie and team for such a great stay. You really helped us out by giving us a place to land that was warm, quiet, and just right for getting some much needed sleep. Sometimes you just don't know what a kind act can do, and this particular one cemented my belief that there is still kindness in this world. Thank you!
Was nice to find this place. Plenty of rooms available, friendly nice staff. Very comfortable quiet. Accepted my pet. Was on the road all day and was so happy to find this place.Easy on off freeway access.
Due to bad weather and driving conditions I had a to a get room for the night. I really enjoy my stay at BW, The customer services was good, we had a little miscommunication with my identity but it was taken care of. I really love it and would be willing to stay again
Checked in bone tired and hungry with no reservation (which is not unusual for us). Staff are extremely friendly, we got a first floor room, which we were praying for and totally surprised at how nice everything was considering the price we paid! It's right off 50 and next to Dennys (which was great) and a Walmart, what more could you ask for! Thanks management, we'll definitely see you again!
Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was adequate and breakfast area was clean and well tended. Staff was helpful and very knowledgeable. Pool and spa were not available due to Covid but all other amenities were available.
We had a nice, large room with a king bed and handicapped access. Every unit has a microwave oven and refrigerator and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was until 9 a.m. This motel was near a Denny's and a Wal-Mart.
This hotel was one hot mess! It had amazing reviews so we stayed but it was horrific!! The tv did not work and they were unable to fix it. There was no hot water. The toilet was unbelievably disgusting. The replacement roll of toilet paper was wet and moldy. The air conditioner was loud and rattled all night we had to turn it off to sleep. Bad spot in tile floor chipped painted walls. The bath towels were very small and threadbare, The only redeeming thing was the sweet lady at the desk who tried her best to help. It is next door to Denny's and WalMart which was good for us but added noise. Would NEVER recommend this place. Do not believe those great reviews!!
Very friendly desk clerk. Room was large and bathroom was super large. Nice frig, micro. Adequate breakfast. The hotel pool was drained and appeared to be unused for a while. There were a lot of convenient plug points for devices in the room. Good for a stop on a long road trip.
I reserved a room for my mom who is in her 60's and had just driven 13 hours, I had special request for 1st floor due to knee issues. They gave my mom a DIRTY room on the 2nd floor and to top it off the door to her room does not lock! The room smell is overpowering. I have stayed at Best Westerns before and they are loads nicer than this place. Seriously save your money, continue driving and find a different place to stay. It's not worth the $100/night they charge. You'll thank me later!
OMG. This was so bad, we have stayed in many Best Western hotel before. Most chain are so good but this one. It is not even good enough for dogs. Shower water was not warm enough before it got cold. The a/c did not work and the room was so stuffy. I open the window but there was so much noise and the walls so thin you can here the person in the next room peeing. They have pay me millions of dollars to have come back here. People $ 1.00 is to much monies to pay.
Two queen beds. Room was not huge but adequate. Seemed recently remodeled. Big bathroom. Nice all wood floors, so no dirty carpeting, however I spilled some water between the beds and when I wiped it up with a white towel, it was pretty black. Grants is a town of about 8,000 and seemed like a lot of boarded up buildings and closed businesses. There is a nice Wal-Mart right behind the motel. Not sure I would recommend the area as seemed a little sketchy. Breakfast was very minimal. Was quite busy the night we stayed and there was only luke warm water for our shower. Toilet needed a good scrubbing under the rim. Quite discusting. There are other hotels in the same area, but all reviews were about the same as the SureStay.
We arrived before regular check in, and the lady at the front desk was not pleased at my request to check in early. We had requested a king bed but was told other people wanted them so she put us upstairs with 2 queen beds. So now our poor senior dog is climbing up and down stairs. The room had not been cleaned; smelled like cigarette smoke. Sheets were dirty and we had to request fresh ones. Hair in the shower, toilet dirty. I chloroxed the bathroom and swiffered the floor myself. We found only 1 staff member friendly; hence 2 stars. The maid wasn't even happy about refilling coffee pods. These people don't like their jobs, or comprehend hospitality. This place honestly needs a complete overhaul in staffing and policies. We stayed and made the best of it due to our schedule but would never stop here again.
The bathroom and refrigerator were dirty. I did a quick wipe-down with my own disinfecting wipes, but the toilet needed a thorough scrub. There was a partial roll of toilet paper, but no extra roll available. Sheets and towels seemed ok. Room door was hard to open and close. We got up early and I noticed that others near our room were also up early, so this might not be a good location for those who want a quiet spot to sleep in.
City shut off water unable to take shower had to buy water to brush our teeth gritty dirt on floor. The breakfest was very limited because of water being shut off.I have had better expierence at this hotel in the past
Liked this hotel. But there was no hot water!! Other than that this was a great overnight stay! This is a sister hotel to the best western. Great on off exit to interstate! Walmart right behind hotel!
Seriously no water in the am. I mean 9am. Call the front desk several times and no one answers. Call again with my own phone and the guy answers and says we do have hot water. They do not have hot water. Ice cold. Not the guys fault but FYI, NO HOT WATER FOR HOURS IN THE AM!!!!!
Bed is very uncomfortable. Swimming pool and hot tub not working, was lied to when called and asked before making reservation. Very basic breakfast. Would not recommend! DO NOT STAY HERE, NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
New furniture can't hide how dirty and old the rooms are. Walls and floors were disgusting. Had a hard time shutting the door. Pictures were deceiving on website. This is not a hotel but a motel since access to rooms are from the outside. I was extremely disappointed.
We stayed here one night while traveling to our vacation destination. We booked 2 rooms and asked that they be as close to each other as possible. Thankfully, they were. Check-in went smoothly. You can easily walk to Walmart, Denny's or Dollar Store, if desired. Room seemed clean at first. There is no interior hallway. Doors are exterior. However, the area seems safe. That evening after showering and wanting nothing more than to sleep, we noticed when we pulled back the covers that our sheets had numerous stains and other people's body hairs in the bedding…we were so disgusted. However, by that point at night, I knew we would be hard pressed to move 2 rooms and still be near each other, so we, unfortunately, slept in God knows what and God knows whose unidentified specimen. Did we tell the front desk about the condition of the linen? No. Why? Because what was the point. We overheard another guest loudly conversing on his cell phone about finding blood in his room and wanting to switch rooms. What about the breakfast, you ask? Breakfast was bare bones and the waffle batter was soured. When we informed the front desk that the waffle batter was soured, did they replace it? No, he just took it down. So, if you decide to book here, proceed with caution. Reasonable rates…but I guess you get what you pay for and it is definitely not a hot breakfast or clean bedding, but hopefully it's not Hep C.
We had a really late check in, but the rooms were clean, and the woman at the front desk was so friendly and very accommodating to me and other customers behind me. The only thing I really had a problem with was the microwave was a little gross.
We were hiking the Continental Divide Trail and were going to take a zero day in Grants. We are Best Western members so we booked directly with their website. They had two options. A double queen for $64 or a Large double queen with a sitting area for $76. The lower prices were because of a rewards member multi-night discount. We booked the large with sitting area for $76. When we got to the hotel, the night front desk lady was busy doing something so I patiently waited for 5+ minutes. Finally, I told her I had a reservation. She said “we have a hiker rate of $70”. Oh! Is that for the large with sitting area? No! It's for the double queen. Me: well I booked the large. (Plus the rate online was $64 for the double queen so why would I pay $6 more for the hiker rate?) She refused to give me the large room telling me the “suite” is $90 and she can't give it to me for $76. I still had my browser open on my phone and I physically showed her the rates online and what I booked. Again, she refused. We hiked over 20 miles that day. I was exhausted and tired. And just wanted to shower and go to my room. She could not understand that there are different rates and because of the rewards member/multi- night discount, the rate dropped. She said on her end that it showed I booked the regular double queen. I understand there could have been a mistake from the Best Western website but again, when shown proof of what I I reserved and paid for, she wouldn't give me my room. I even did a search for the next night in front of her and showed her the exact same rates, and she still wouldn't give me my room. I eventually had to ask her to call the manager - who didn't answer. She called another person and very snidely said to that person, “they're hikers!” What does being a hiker have to do with getting the room you paid for? Really frustrating. The whole thing took 20-30 minutes. We finally got into our room, and the toilet was broken. It would run forever. No big deal. We took the lid off and manually stopped it. The next morning, the maintenance guy came right away and fixed it. The room itself was clean and fine. I think the only complaint would be the room didn't have black out curtains, only thin white shades. If you wake up in the middle of the night, the room is bright from the lights outside. It looks like daylight rather than night. I would stay here again had I not had the issues with the front desk lady.
Very nice comfortable clean good servic. Great motel and would definately stay again. Would recommend to all my family and friends. Cant remember being so comfortable at a motel as i was at this one. The best
The price was reasonable and when we viewed the room our expectations were exceeded. Did the sniff test of the room as well as the bedding and pillows. All smelled fresh with out that sickening typical hotel are freshener, which frankly makes me ill.
I had read two days before that the hot water was a premium at the hotel in the mornings a d may run out. Checkin was ok got to room the upstairs room was so noisy that we had to ask the front desk to let them know. They calmed down a bit. Then as we settled down to bed we couldn't get the light to turn off by the beds. We hung a towels over it but it was still bright. I wouldn't stay here again! You have been forewarned!
Room was very clean and the staff was super nice. Very accommodating and fixed an issue with the reservation that had a special request for a ground floor that nobody had read and booked us upstairs. Thank You
The HVAC unit switched off / on every 30 seconds. The door had a big gap allowing cool air into the room. The clock in the room was accurate when we went to bed. I woke up at 6:30 on the clock, took a shower and we packed up to leave. It was still dark outside but did not think much of it. About an hour later we realized it was only 5:00am! Worst night ever!!
nice and friendly service very helpful and friendly easy access wal mart nearby for al needs gas stations close by easy on and off freeway access will stay here any time im passing through its a great stop
Overall excellent customer services, if an issue arises the staff are great and try to accommodate guests. COVID-19 took away some of my experience as spa/pool was closed but I was pleasantly surprised with the snow.
The wall unit in the room was horrible and loud. It sounded like it was going to blow up every time it came in, which was very often. It was either leave it on and get no sleep, or freeze. The hot water also ran out very quickly during our showers. One of us took one the night before and the other in the morning.
Easy to access from freeway. Staff was very nice and helpful. Close to a Walmart and restaurant next door, fuel close. Had a box truck, plenty of parking. Pet fee was more responsible than other hotels, $10.
We read online that the hot water didn't last long and that was true. Plus, we booked a smoking room but there was no type of vent fan in the room or bathroom. Other than that, everything was great! It was within walking distance of Walmart and Denny's and across the street a short way from a Walgreen's.
We stayed in mid February and the hotel was having problems with the hot water. We were not able to take a hot shower for more than a couple minutes at a time. Was told by front desk clerk that we needed to wait because a lot of people were taking a shower. We thought this was crazy as most hotels should have the ability to take a shower and have no problems in the morning. However, everything else was nice. Beds were comfortable, quiet, biggest bathroom in a hotel of that price range. Evey, the afternoon/evening front desk clerk was friendly and worked with us to contact a manager about our hot water problem. We could not reach a manager, however and had to contact the customer care at corporates to get a resolution about the hot water.
Will never stay at this hotel again. No hot water and not told about it at check in. No discount for the poor service. Will question Best Western recommendations from now on and will not use them if possible. Talked to another guest who got a reservation in the morning and was told no hot water but they would be put up in a sister hotel. Upon arrival they were told the hot water was fixed. They were lied to. IT WAS NOT. Worst hotel I've been in.
Couldn't get checked in not sure why, no hot water after 2mins, second day no water, toilet backed up, hair dryer burned up. Just seemed like this place had water problem and did not tell me until after i checked in
Representative at hotel informed us that there would be a free breakfast served the next morning, but to no avail. Toilet in Hotel Suite ran all night long, could not get a peaceful sleep, defeated purpose, waste of money.
I just needed a warm, clean room with coffee. Nothing fancy...I was provided warm and clean and a coffee machine but it required a coffee pot...AND coffee grounds...which were NOT provided! I didn't think to check the night I arrived. (My bad). So the discovery of the missing pot and coffee was not one that excited me in the morning. Luckily I made it to the front desk, walking in the freezing cold ( it really wasn't super cold) without incident to get a cup of the thick black joe provided at that location...Front desk girl was not helpful and not friendly.
This is a great little place for what it is - an inexpensive place to get a comfortable night's rest. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. They're not fancy, but updated and I didn't hear any real noise bleed from outside typical with most motels. It's an older building, and the setting isn't the greatest, but they are taking obvious steps to update it. However... One BIG complaint. We had arrived at the hotel at midnight after a 10 hour day of travel and were told breakfast was from 6 AM - 9 AM when we checked in. After 4 days of travel on our cross country move that included “bag breakfasts” at three consecutive hotels with the same exact items each time (bottle of water, granola bar, a piece of fruit, and a muffin), we were looking forward to finally getting some different breakfast items. Items that were different, possibly warm, and that we could actually choose for ourselves. We arrived in the lobby at 8:25 AM only to find them putting away the last few boxes of breakfast items into storage. The floor and counter had been cleaned and everything was reset for the rest of the day. It was obvious that they had been tearing things down for a while and had probably started putting things away at around 8:00 AM or so. When we inquired about breakfast, we were kindly offered...you guessed it...a “bag breakfast.” Sadly, this was the second time we experienced this at a hotel on this trip. What in the world? Hotel owners and managers, let me offer two pieces of advice: 1) if you say you're offering breakfast until a certain time, then honor that. Keep your word. Don't lie. It's important. If I would have known that you were closing up at 8 AM, my family and I would have been there by 8 AM. All you had to do was tell me. No big deal. But you didn't even give me that chance. So, if you state that your breakfast area is open until a given time, then leave the stuff alone until that time. Don't close it up early! You don't know who might roll in @ 5 minutes to close expecting to get what they were promised. Honestly, this seems like a little thing, but it's not. It's huge. It put a bad taste in my mouth for this hotel. 2) ”Bag breakfasts” served their purposes, and I get that, but they are NOT a substitute for breakfast. It's a snack bag. Call it what it is. Very few people would actually choose a piece of random fruit, muffin, cereal/granola bar, and a bottle of water for breakfast. So please don't say you offer breakfast when what you're actually offering is a grab bag of random snack items. Again, great little hotel, but fix the breakfast thing.
Quick stay overnight on way home. No elevator, got upgraded to handicap ground level room due to my hip health. Easy on off I-40. Clean. Comfy bed. Pool looked old and closed when we arrived late vs closed to covid. Breakfast was available the front desk as grab and go only due to covid protection.
Decent place for an overnight. Restaurants and mini-mart close by. Room could have been cleaner and door was difficult to open. Hot water is scalding, so be careful. Heat-A/C worked well, fridge was noisy. Wifi was a bit slow and dropped a couple of times, but got the job done. Lots of entertainment choices on Dish network. I would overnight here again.
This is the budget line of the Best Western chain. We had a room with two queen beds that was barely big enough for the beds. The bathroom was very large with a clothes hanging rack open to the room. There was a lot of wasted space in the bathroom. The television was small and had poor reception. The check in was slow as they could not find our Best Western Reward status. The room was noisy with loud talking coming from the parking lot. The beds were squeaky with scratchy sheets and blanket. Breakfast was in a small space in the lobby. The television volume in the lobby was too loud as you could not carry on a personal conversation without shouting.
They have just remodeled so everything is clean and fresh. Like many hotels they have replaced the carpet with laminate which for us feels much cleaner and more sanitary. Front desk was busy and a bit abrupt when we arrived but gave us their full attention when it was our turn to check-in. They serve breakfast and more importantly coffee. We didn't not use the pool or hot-tub but it's available till 11:00PM. It's just I40 so very convenient.
Me and my family stayed in this hotel customer service could be better. The room smelled like cigarettes and it was a non-smoking room. There was bloody towels in the restroom. Other than that everything was OK
We stayed one night on our way to California. We had our dog with and there was an area out back in the brush for him. Denny's and Wal-Mart just next to parking areas. Our bathroom was not clean!!! Not much for continental breakfast. I did not feel safe at night taking the dog out. Had hubby do it!!! We had pizza delivered from Domino's and it came super hot with utensils, paper plates and napkins.
From the check-in experience to the last detail, I was extremely pleased. Spotless and fresh, all amenities one could want, clean and very comfortable bedding, quiet and efficient heater for a cold winter night.
Odor in lobby. Toilet in room clogged. Otherwise good. Pool was warm, towels plentiful. Breakfast was sustaining with adequate choice of items. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable and area quiet. Price was right.
Overall good. Small town.food limited. Amenities good. Convenient for our travel. And you were pet friendly.convenience to freeway . And have a super store for travel snacks, noise control. Except the neighbors door was broken. So they had to fix it.
Refurnish was nice, appeared clean, good towels, night staff was very nice, breakfast was ok, but as title says it all - crappy wifi and bed bugs (room 120). Do not recommend this place for those two specific concerns - not worth my money
Checking in was a bit of a struggle. The room needed to be swept and mopped desperately and counter tops wiped down including moving objects to wipe under those as well. I went to make coffee when I moved the pot to plug it in I noticed lots of hair and bird feathers.
Brand new everything, flooring, sheets, towels, lamps, colors. Like that the room had blinds and not curtains. Made the room feel so clean. The only thing we didn't like besides breakfast was that the clothes rack was in the bathroom next to the shower.
As fans of Best Western Plus hotels, we were so pleased to find another member of the Best Western Plus family. SureStay, like other Best Westerns was clean and attractive and the employees were helpful.
While at breakfast, the room's electronic lock malfunctioned. We were locked out of our room for at least 1 1/2 hour. The desk attendant tried to open the door, but she apparently did not know how to use the equipment. We had to wait while they called in a maintenance person so we could remove our belongings. Nothing done to make things right with us.
Check in was quick and the staff were super friendly. Room was spacious and clean. Close to a dollar tree and walmart. Breakfast was simple but enough. It was however noisy when someone next door opens/ closes doors and people walking by. Bed comfy, pillows not so much. Had a hot tub and laundry machine.
Nice spa and pool area. Kinda questionable neighborhood but really clean rooms and nice hotel close to interstate. We were just passing through but we would definitely recommend this hotel. It was pet friendly which was also what we needed for our dog.
Room was great, slept very well. WIFI service is weak and troublesome when attempting to conduct business online as service continued to be dropped. I would highly recommend this SureStay if not needing internet WIFI service.
We checked prices in the area and decided to try our luck here. It was about half the price of the others around. All we cared about was getting clean sheets and some sleep to continue our trip in the morning. We got more than we expected. My only complaint would be needing more time to get to the breakfast before it ends, at 9. But even then they were helpful for one of our teens that had a little trouble getting the in time.
This is a newly "renovated" hotel. It wasn't. It was merely patched up and quite TACKY. Our room had lighting that would not turn OFF. Had to unscrew bulbs. Refrigerator not working. Acted like electrical system overload. Towel rack/clothes hanger already pulling out of wall. Could get no assistance from front desk staff, at all. Apparently no on-call maintenance person after normal hours.
Recently renovated and clean rooms; staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable; great breakfast from 6-9AM, overall an excellent value for the price. Best Western has done a very good job with the design of the motel.
We travel with our puppy toy poodle so our priorities have changed as to our accommodation needs. This was our first experience with SutreStay. We found it to be clean and very pet friendly. I'll sacrifice carpet for tile in my room for my pup being welcome any day of the week. N
I normally never book hotels in advance. So, as usual, as I drove by, dropped in and got a room. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the room I got and its amenities. Large bathroom, very comfortable beds and linen. The room had everything I needed. Breakfast was free too. Will be using this place again. Best Western does it again!
I spent one night at this hotel after a very long day of travelling. It was really nice! Recently renovated. Room was large and had all the amenities a traveler needs or wants. The hotel had a pool and spa-squeaky clean! It was in a great location-easy to find, right off the highway. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this location.
The room was a typical Best Western/Sure Stay. However, my husband forgot his Kindle in the room and it was a lot of trouble (for the motels) for them to find it for him. Even though he called the wrong hotel (also a Best Western in town), the two hotels worked together to get his Kindle returned to him. I appreciate all the "back and forth" the two motels had to do to figure out where he left the Kindle. Great location to visit El Malpais National Monument and close to a Subway and Walmart.
Only been here a few minutes and it's not good. No hot water in the shower. Trying to call the front desk and no one answered. First of all wrong number on the card in the room. Room phone has no direct access and cell phone goes to an unavailable number. Mini fridge is hot. Burns on the comforter and a price list on the items in your room in case you want to steal them. Thanks. Not gonna happen. Don't stay
We had been driving a while and saw the Best Western signage. We tried to stay there but the hot tub was not functioning so we went to Sure Stay. Not disappointed at all. It was a terrific choice for us.
would not reccomend this place except in case of emgercy. its a old hotel with a fesh paint job and new bathroom vanaties, does not warrant a $99 price tag. examples, the toliet paper dispenser is located so you need to be a gymanist, mattresses squeak, big empty bathroom with small vanity, ironing board wouldn't stay up, was going to use as table. walmart is next door and parking lot full of semi's running all night. take the brand new best western across the street
The water heater broke on the first morning. When I went to the service desk to find out what's going on I was told that it will be working that afternoon. That night, still no water. Next morning I was told the plumber would show at 9 and fix it, there would be hot water in the afternoon. But no, not for our entire stay! Room service left notes to tell us they could not make beds because of our personal belongings in the room, they never came back for the rest of our stay. Upon checkout, the manager offered a $20 discount for our inconvenience! Never again!
looking for a nice place to stay with pool,, turned to be an indoor pool but you have to walk outside to get to it from every room. Very disappointed as it was in the 50's, too cold to be going back and forth.and your not allowed to wear street clothes into the pool area. The room was clean, and roomy. Beds comfortable, with frig and microwave in room . Breakfast provided, it was only continental- no protein available and the only gluten free option was instant oatmeal. luckily a Walmart close by for a protein option.
Way overpriced. Of course all the hotels are here in this dump of a town. Guests are loud and feel untitled to ruin everyone else's stay. Front desk does nothing. Asked for manager. That never happened. Oh and the breakfast was suppose to be till 9 am. 8:15. It was cleared out and only rancid coffee was available. Best Western, you need to get your act together
This property is in transition from a TraveLodge to a SureStay by Best Western. 2 Bed suite was on the small side, but beds were comfortable. Pet friendly for those having pets, but very irritating for those without pets. Barking dogs in some rooms and unattended barking dogs in parking lot. Staff was notified. Breakfast needs to be improved, (1 star)
Although this is an older hotel, the price and room was very good. My husband smokes and the Travelodge is the only convenient one in Grants.
Friendly staff. Rooms are large. A bit run down. Needs some TLC and the ratings would go up. Right off the Interstate, but a couple miles from "downtown" where all the local eateries are. Friendly to hikers, including a "hiker box".
This property is in transition from a TraveLodge to a Sure Stay by Best Western. The rooms are undergoing renovation so only about half of the hotel is open. Evy (desk clerk) was very pleasant at check in & was the main reason I stayed even though there was quite a bit of construction. Rooms are aged but clean. Ran short of hot water while showering. Had to hurry. Morning desk clerk was useless. Parked behind her computer screen. No greetings to morning breakfast guests. Paid no attention to breakfast area. When checking out she had great difficulty printing my receipt. I told her that her guests would very much appreciate it if she were to get out from behind the front desk & clean up crumbs & drips or spills in the breakfast area.
