Motel had a dispute with local cable company so no premium channels available. Not told at time of booking directly with the motel about the problem. They did not offer a discount; only gave us Tammie's number to call [54-247-7066]. She did not call back.
This property has been slowly transformed from questionable to really quite nice. Rooms are clean & spacious, with balcony furniture actually cleaned so one can sit & enjoy the Pacific. It is very quiet & can barely hear any traffic from the highway (speed limit reduced to 35 mph). The indoor pool is a nice feature which I use on occasion. Breakfast is a decent array of hot & cold foods. There are still supply chain issues though. There is a coffee/rea station available whilst the office is open. Bummed out there isn't hot chocolate anymore, not even at breakfast. I like making a mocha & I overheard a few parents saying they'll have to bring their own to make some for their kids next time. Overall, highly recommended.
Was horrible from get go. Our greeting from the receptionist was "you need something?" It went down from there. Wasn't what I was accustomed to from Best Western +. Getting to the room it looked very dated but clean. The carpet was loose in several places and bubbling up. The towels were old and frayed. The pillows miniature in size. Bed was comfortable. Wrote this before breakfast but I'm not hopeful. At this price-point I expected way better.
This overpriced mess of a hotel is only in business because of the dearth of other options in the area. it's filthy inside, outdated, and unpleasant. Think of it like camping and just sit outside on the patio because the rooms are pitiful. It has a great view as long as you want to share that with a lot of weed smokers and at least one housekeeper in need of an intervention.
The hotel had no air conditioning, which I should have checked ahead of time. I assumed that with it being a Best Western branded hotel a/c would be included. It was 80 degrees in the room at bed time. I called the front desk fir a fan they said there are none and hung up. We needed clean clothes the next day so I went to fo laundry and the machines were broken. So back into town we went to use the laundry mat. No apologies or anything from the staff. The breakfast area looks like it was an after thought. Very little selection and the sitting area is small and down stairs, not accessible.
Checking in was a breeze. I didn't know my room was down a couple flights of stairs that enters into a smelly hallway. Bathroom showerhead unusable Jacuzzi tub inoperable Bathroom window full of black mold and no screen Bathroom mirror hung low for a 5ft person No screen on sliding door for deck Torn deck chairs
Furniture really outdated. Stains and extreme wear and tear. Head board was ripped. Husband noticed the super old smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. We tested them both. Neither worked. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. Sliding glass door was very dirty and very hard to open. Lock on it didn't work. Screen was barely able to move in the slider. The patio chairs both had cracks. I got up and got (injured) pinched on my buttocks really bad. I still have a mark. The bathroom floor was sticky and had black hair stuck to it. Neither one of us have black hair. The bed was terrible and both husband and I spent the night stuck on the middle of the bed because of the big dip. No air conditioner. Typically it's not needed on the coast but when the Sun is beating down in the room it gets really warm in the afternoon and evening. We did not use the very outdated base board heaters, but I'd be surprised if they actually worked. I notified the front desk of the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector and also the broken chairs, however, he seemed very uninterested.
We had a wonderful stay here. Although the rooms are a bit outdated and the furniture was a little rough all in all it was a good time. We had a beautiful view from our balcony and the little path to the beach was very accessible the sunset view was spectacular. We used the pool facilities and it was very clean and the pool was a bit cold but tolerable and relaxing after a long drive. The hot tub was nice and HOT! Breakfast was good, a standard in what to expect from a Best Western. Good coffee! Huge shout-out to the female employee that went above and beyond to help me with an issue I had, you were a big help and I appreciated it! I can't wait to come back!
The staff was very nice, That said, this motel is in dire need of a makeover/updating from the inside out. This motel looks old and neglected. At least the bed was comfortable and our room was clean. We've stayed in many Best Western motels over the years and this one is by far the most unkempt.
This is the cutest hotel by the ocean. Seemed like a mom and pop Place that takes excellent care of the guests. Loved watching the sun set on the balcony. Soft beds and comfy pillows. When the ice maker wasn't working the front desk guy delivered ice to my room within a few minutes.
The staff was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate all our needs, throughout our 3-day stay. The oceanfront room was clean, comfortable, quiet and had panoramic views. We took advantage of the private path to the beach. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Weak WiFi, no USB ports in room, no alarm clock in room, the breakfast was very good , the staff where very friendly and took care of needed items
This was one of the best hotels we stayed at on out most recent trip. The location is on the beach with a trial to the waterfront. The view from the room and the sounds of the ocean were very relaxing. We believe that this would be a good vacation spot. Not just a place to stay. Wife loved it. Thanks to the friendly staff.
Property was so dirty, and the balcony doors do not lock. The staff is happy to provide you with a stick to lock the balcony door… first room I was assigned had old food, cosmetics, and even cobwebs
This hotel is in disrepair and the furnishings are stained and extremely outdated. There is no soundproofing between floors and the guests below your room are awakened when you flush the toilet and they start pounding on the wall.
Although the motel is a tired, older place, it is right on the ocean and our room (329) had very nice views of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable, the room was large and the breakfast was good, although the offerings were typical.
Originally, I reserved the King suite room with the jacuzzi tub. I had read reviews from the fall of 2023, reporting that the tub was broken and the jets were not working. THe night before our reservation, the hotel staff sent me a text stating that the jacuzzi was not working and that they were "getting on the list for a plumber to fix it." I think it's bad business to offer an amenity on your website that is not actually available for a lengthy amount of time. They offered an "upgrade" to a 3rd floor king bedroom, which we accepted. The best thing about the room was the view, it has a full, unobstructed view of the ocean, which was fantastic during the snowstorm that occurred while we were there. The room is on the third floor and there is no elevator, but the stairs were not difficult to navigate. Clearly, the room is also a "dog-friendly" room, which we were not told before we checked in. There is some chewing damage on the headboard and along the bottom of the bed. The toilet seat was missing a knob and had several scratches/worn areas on the seat. The shower was strange, the choice ended up being scalding or cold, adjusted the water temp on the handle didn't seem to translate to the water pouring down. Same for the temperature of the room, there is a control panel, but the room remained at 73 degrees, regardless of how we adjusted the control knob. Also, if you want housecleaning services, you need to call and set it up with the front desk. This is not an expensive hotel, if it were, we would have been disappointed.
Bottom floor had no view fr the room, unless you stood at the desk against the wall or out in the cold balcony, I'll fitting curtains that hung on the heater that seemed to be a fire hazard and a lot of dead, large flies in hallway. No gym and no allowances for upgrading rooms, even when they had a lot of vacancies, due to booking through booking.com. Yes, we did offer to PAY the difference, and were told it was not possible. Being avid, work travelers- we know this is BS bc we get upgraded for free all the time and we've never been denied an upgrade when we've offered to pay the difference and there is availability. Pool heating was not repaired when we were there. We left a day early bc we were not excited to be told they thought we were offering “bribes” after offering to PAY the difference for a room w a view and that didn't require stairs. This was after I let her know, factually, that I would obviously be reviewing the hotel and that this would weigh in heavily. Our little son was in pain fr CP and a plaster cast on his leg bc we had stayed 3 out of our 4 night reservation, and the amount of stairs was weighing on him. We never stayed here before and thought we were booking a bottom floor room, meaning no stairs. We had prepaid and knew she wouldn't give us a refund, but by then I realized we couldn't reason w on property staff. We contacted both booking.com and their corporate office to file a complaint and we're adequately compensated. Would not stay here again or recommend.
Loud people breakfast just sucked pool is 5 ft deep good for kids bad for adults top it off wanted to leave a day early due too hotel issues they wouldn't cancel the day I didn't stay i just left early anyways to a different hotel that wasn't annoying loud and rude
Sure Stay has been our hotel of choice in Gold Beach for years, but the last 3 trips have been ruined by rude staff, a dirty suite and amenities that do not work...no ice, no pool, again This trip, we were not alerted that our room was right next to a construction site that had 3 barking dogs day and night. Needless to say, we were out of there the next morning. Don't think we will be back. What a shame for what used to be such a nice place to stay!
I would defiantly recommend this hotel. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a good variety of items to choose from. We will stay again if we are in the area.
Staff was great this place has a wonderful view and a nice set up but it desperately needs some remodeling asap. The pool was ice cold the rooms were not very clean and the furniture was very poor. The bed was so hard we didn't sleep at all. The laundry facilities had a broken washer and a very old rusty dryer. I would stay again in the future if they did some work to the place.
We are loyal Best Western customers. We traveled for 14 days in the Western US over the holidays and visited eight states. Each overnight was at a Best Western. We typically don't stay at Sure Stays because we haven't had a great experience with them in Twin Falls Idaho, but now that we stayed at Gold Beach Oregon at the Sure Stay, we will give them a second try because this experience was excellent. The view of the ocean was fantastic, the balcony was clean and had tables and chairs to sit at. The rooms are extra large and we stayed in pet friendly room which was fantastic. We had no complaints at this hotel.
We booked a jacuzzi room (501) only to find out that the jacuzzi was broken. The drain plug was missing so after being issued a replacement at the front desk and filling the tub, the jets did not come on. The staff seemed unaware of any previous issues with this. The next morning we were offered a $15 discount or move to another room that they were considering an upgrade from our already king size room with an in room jacuzzi. Upon check out, the staff mentioned that they knew the jacuzzi was broken the morning of the day we checked in. (How was this even possible without a drain plug?) obviously, the tub had been out of commission for some time and they were still offering the room. Additionally, there are horizontal blinds in the bathroom that are about 6 inches too short. This was a ground floor room and you can absolutely see right into the window from the path leading to the beach. We had to place a rolled up BLANKET on the sill to finish covering the void.
Like most older coastal hotels, this one was definitely well-used and had its share of wear and tear. So in many ways, that was all to be expected, but at the same time, it was kind of hard to look past it. Parts of our room (e.g. bathroom) appeared to have been fairly recently remodeled, but a lot of the other furniture was scuffed and scratched and worn. But still, it was clean and quiet. The bed was too soft for me, but that's of course personal preference. One thing to be aware of is that the only air control of any kind in the rooms is heat; there's no AC. I'm a hot sleeper so I was concerned about this at first, but we did have an ocean-view room on an upper floor with a small balcony, so it ended up working great to leave the sliding door open all night with just the screen there. Nice to sleep to the sound of the ocean. There's a nice little trail that leads directly from the hotel down to the beach, the breakfast was good (I love any hotel breakfast with a waffle maker, but that morning there were also biscuits & gravy, eggs, and sausage), and the desk staff were friendly. Overall, it's not a horrible hotel. It's just way overpriced for the product you get.
My wife and I have stayed in many Best Western hotels and we did not feel this one deserved a plus at all. Not only was it dated and smelly, everywhere we looked things were broken and in need of repair, from torn and missing baseboards to holes in the walls to disgusting stains in the carpets and chairs. In both rooms that we saw on the ground level, the sliding glass doors were open and unlocked, which is definitely a safety/security issue, and even when locked they did not seem secure -- my wife was afraid to go to sleep. The ice machine was not working either. When we politely asked for another room, the desk clerk was very reluctant to give us another even though it was obvious that few people had already checked in for the night and we had made our reservation months in advance. It was one of the worst hotel stays that we have ever experienced. Privately we refer to it as the Bates Hotel. I had previously made another reservation for this hotel for next year, but I canceled it and soon as i got home. I have never written a bad review for a hotel, but this one was so bad that I felt it was necessary. It really hurts Best Western's reputation to be associated with this place. You should really inspect this place and make sure it is repaired to meet a higher standard.
After a long drive, and being rerouted off the 101 twice for construction and then a nasty accident, my husband and I (and our dog) were grateful to arrive at this Best Wester in Gold Beach. After the quick and friendly check-in, we found our room and immediately opened the sliding door to enjoy the wave sound effects, settled into the spacious and comfortable room, cracked open a bottle of mead and enjoyed a long soak in the two-person spa tub. Then settled into a great night's sleep! The following morning, we first enjoyed a nice breakfast in the solarium dining section and then strolled down the path to the beach. Incredibly windy morning, so the beach walk was a little rough on the return. Good morning workout, though. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the pool, which looked inviting. But a big shout out to the staff for providing REAL PLATES and utensils for dining, and having to wash them! SO appreciated that extra touch. The only downside was the worn condition of the interior hallway to the room, with old carpet and damaged walls, which seem to be in the patching process. The room itself looked updated and refreshed. The bathroom mirror however, was so low that my 6-foot, one inch husand had to squat down to use it. Overall, a nice location after a hard day of traveling.
Mikalya at the front was very disrespectful charged over 400 for no reason threatened me when I first got there terrible manners definitely won't ever be staying here thank goodness for the other coworker Katie for everything definitely the best one there.
The hotel is dated and desperately needs some maintenance. However the view of the ocean from the deck is wonderful. Some of the maintenance issues included: the shower valve was worn out, a bulb was missing from one of the lights, one of the deck chairs was broken, the ice machine did not work, and the paint on the room door was peeling. The bathroom sink was outside of the bathroom, but it was separated from the sleeping area by a partition.
Stay was appreciated after a 4 day/3 night OARS Rafting Trip down the Rouge River. Amenities were just right for the stay with Wi-Fi and an excellent Breakfast available. I would highly recommend this SureStay Best Western for anyone travelling the Oregon Coast.
been a best western it not a great place for them. beds lumpy. tv to small for rooms. room half painted. dog walk area unsafe for dogs. a lot for thorns and cut black berry bushes. showers water pressure low
Tried checking in at 4pm they sent us away and said come back at 4:30 MAYBE the room will be ready by then. Our room was gross. Very dirty, torn carpet, stains on the desk table top. There was some kind of food spray on the front door of our room. The headboards of the bed were vinyl fake leather and they were ripped and scratched were your head goes which was so disgusting. The vinyl floor was sticky on the feet. Towels had stains on them. Light switches were dirty, There was a chair with the lining hanging down ripped and touching the floor. Breakfast was bad. Could not even believe this was a Best Western! The only plus was you could walk to the beach. There was a property on each side of the motel both having construction being done all day.
While preaching to leave I left an item out with the intent to pack it on top so it wouldn't wrinkle. I accidently forgot to pack it. I realized my error and called within hours. I was assured that they would look into it and call me back. They did not. I called them and asked again. They had no idea what I was talking about. I reexplained. They told me they would look and call me back. Again, they failed to do so. I was traveling back up the coast and stopped in. They still couldn't find my item. Mind you, it wasn't like I called days or weeks later...I made my first call within hours of leaving. I believe they have a problem!
Room was pretty pricey so I expected something decent. The room was old and very funky. Screen in door did not close, toilet seat was not connected properly, there was something under the sheet that was sharp and sticking in my back and couldn't wait to leave. Our friends found their room just as dismal- unless we were both given the crappiest rooms I do not get the positive reviews
Beautiful beach. Easy access. Nice view from balcony for sunset. Nice that the pool is open late. 20 hours for $260.00 is high as check in is 4 pm. Great to have the internet access. Quiet and I left the patio window open to hear the ocean. Nice pillows, fluffy and a lot.
Have stayed here several times in the past. Has a nice location right on the beach, but the place could use a refresh. Furniture and carpet are kind of worn (but the bed was comfortable). The included breakfast was convenient, but below average. E.g., eggs were cold and pretty tasteless.
I stayed at the SureStay by Best Western in Gold Beach for two nights while traveling for business. It was a very enjoyable experience. The room was clean and spacious. The views are incredible. I slept with my sliding glass door open each night and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. It was the perfect motel for me and my service dog. I will definitely be staying there again for my next trip.
This Best Western is outdated and rundown but the location cannot be beat. The staff is incredibly nice. The access to the beach and surrounding areas is outstanding. There are so many cool things to see from Port Orford, Oregon down to Crescent City, California. We explored some Redwoods, tidepools, and lighthouses. This hotel was the perfect spot to base out of. The beach was absolutely beautiful and my favorite part hands down. Each room has an incredible view of the ocean and we watched the sunset each night. We will definitely be staying here again!
No way like any Best Western hotels I have stayed at. Old dated carpets, hottub not working and I doubt I would have used it do to dirty appearance of hotel. Room floor was damp after cleaning. Overpriced for poor quality.
Direct access to a wonderful beach. Dog friendly. Helpful service and good internet. Heated indoor pool was great. Lots of parking. Lots of choices of food for the included breakfast. Excellent nearby restaurant with a great sunset view.
We were very disappointed. The hot tub was broken our entire stay. They served old multi day reheated food because they admitted they needed to save money. No eggs the entire stay. Watered down coffee. Bathroom flooring not secure at all and causes you to trip. Dirty windows. Staff were very friendly. This is obviously a management issue and unbecoming for a Best Western. We will stay somewhere else next time.
We spent 4 nights there ans almost everything was great. The room and it's size were great, The staff was great. The indoor hearted pool was great. The two things that bothered us was the first night we heard loud music till midnight and the second was the spa was broke. But everything else was great
I will say that we were in a storm but there needs to be a way to access your room without having to climb onto the back deck to get in through the backdoor. We asked for more towels and coffee because we were staying 2 nights to be told the maid will bring them by our room, we are still waiting.
We love Gold Beach and stay here when we can. The staff is generally very helpful, especially Angela, and try to always accommodate. New towels would be appreciated, deeper cleaning of the furniture and starting to see the owner should put more funds into building repairs. Love the sunsets and the fact you can have dogs!!
We were traveling down highway 101 from Seattle, WA to Yuma, AZ gong slow---14 day trip seeing all the sites. We stayed mostly at Best Western Motels. This was one of 8. They were all good except for one (not this one). I would recommend this motel to others.
Overall, this is a standard Best Western hotel. Rooms are simple and clean, if slightly out-of-date. There is a hot breakfast in the mornings (although, they don't allow you to take anything to your room, which is not typical). The hotel has good access to a trail to the beach, which was very nice. Pros: - Good value for the price - Pet friendly - Good location relative to the beach Cons: - Had to confirm pet friendly room several times (we always double-check before checking in, and they had missed that request twice) - Check-in staff was disinterested for the most part
The hotel laundry facility was above our room and started first thing in the morning. Walk ways we're wood and could hear everything. The room had mold in the shower, on the bathroom walls. There was mold and moss in the track of the sliding door. The jets in the jet room did not work. While at the front desk, one worker said to the other “I thought that we don't rent to others?” There other said “We don't”, The first said then why did we rent to …he just got out of jail”. That made us feel uneasy.
Spent a long weekend with a wildly fun group of women doing paper crafts. Hotel was great and the meeting area worked perfectly. Annual event that we always have at this hotel. Absolutely no complaints.
We travel and stay at many Best Western hotels. The room was not cleaned at check in, we returned after shopping and room was still being cleaned. Bathroom floor was wet with a Mr. Clean solution so I used a bathroom towel to wipe up wetness, towel turned black. Hotel very dated, odors, not clean, headboards scratched etc. etc. We were very disappointed and can not recommend this off brand Best Western hotel
After two weeks at third floor (no elevator)venues, it was wonderful to walk straight into our room and the. To have an ocean view on top of it…WOW! Our room was spacious and had plenty of amenities. Great location.
Traving for work we needed to keep the costs down, so we booked this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that we had a large clean room that overlooked the ocean with a balcony. There was a path right behind the hotel that led to the beach! The room was a bit dated, but the bed was comfortable and everything in the room worked.
I am extremely picky on the places I stay, I am very particular on cleanliness and the safety of a resort. I will break this review down into what I liked and what I did not and what I think should be improved. The TLDR is I would stay here again despite its warts. If you are like me and the most important decision in finding a hotel is: Is it safe, and clean then yes! Book it, however my parents had a pet room and it did have a smell to it when they checked in. What I liked: Cleanliness Breakfast Location Front Staff "Private beach" Access Pool, and spa Private Patios View from room Mini-Fridge ( Great Size) Microwave What I disliked or that could have been improved: The room did have minimal disrepair, on the headboard and on the furniture. The Guest Laundry is AWFUL! The bed is UNCOMFORTABLE!!! I always hate when people say that but for real, its STIFF. I did not use the wifi because the password is weak,. No housekeeping unless requested- Is this the new normal? No hose to rinse pets or feet- This is a wishlist thing, another place I stayed did have this.
Tub wasn't cleaned. When maid service was requested they did a lazy job of it. ran out of pool towels. but overall we were comfortable and for the price, it was the best choice for the area. i would stay there again.
Nice older property in reasonable shape, excellent view from our room, though Oregon coast is often gray and cloudy. Breakfast was average but acceptable. For the price, and location, it's a good choice.
We were driving up 101 and wanted to stay on the coast one night. We have a golden retriever, so it's harder to find dog friendly hotels. There aren't a lot of options in Gold Beach. I'll give you the pros first: it's on the water with views, you can literally go to sleep to the sound of the surf, close to several restaurants to either get delivery or walk to pick up, incredibly friendly staff (can't say enough how nice they are), very comfortable bed. Cons: really old and in need of updating the rooms, room was smelly, carpet was damp/wet, bathroom was barley passing in clean. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.
This hotel is right on the main road heading south and is less than 2 miles from the Harbor, which is perfect if you plan to do any activities on the Rogue River. We recommend Jerry's Jet Boats. I think all the rooms are on the ocean side and have private decks or balconies. You can hear the ocean from your room.
SureStay Gold Beach is in a perfect location to explore the surrounding are, it has direct access to the beach where we enjoyed the waves, breakfast was made freshly every day, we are planning to go back in the near future
I stayed one night. The room was clean. It had in room laundry, which was great bc I was riding my bicycle down the coast and clean clothes were no where to be found. The room was quiet, except for a low rumble when the ac was one. It did not keep me awake. Breakfast was similar to what you'd expect to see in a Best Western or the like. For me priorities are cleanliness, quiet, and comfortable bed at a competitive price. This checked all the boxes, and the in room laundry was a very welcomed surprise.
Beautiful beach access, large pool which was basically all to ourselves. The front desk gal was adorable and fabulous at all times! She had a full breakfast from biscuits and gravy to eggs to cereal and coffee at all times in the morning. Clean and quaint, such a special retreat we absolutely loved staying here for a special family occasion. Couldn't thank you enough, hope the wonderful staff know how much we appreciated it!
The front desk staffs were friendly, helpful and very pleasant. The lobby and breakfast area were clean and tidy. The breakfast provided had a good variety to choose from and area was kept very clean. The only set back was the flooring inside the room was not clean. It was not terribly gross but quite noticeable. One quick sweep with a wet mop would have taken care of the stains on the floor in the room and stain + hair in the bathroom. The bed sheet could have been done more properly too. It was mostly not tucked under the mattress and was left hanging on the side.
Right along the ocean so there is a great view ... Our room had a king bed. With a balcony... The room was clean and the bed was comfortable... Small selection of hot breakfast items with the usual options.. I cannot say enough about the lady that worked the front desk, she was by herself there was a lineup out the door and she kept calm and cool the whole time.. good job... There was several people in front of me that were not happy that they were not getting upgraded for free.. and she just kept a smile on her face, very professional... Because of her, I have rated this hotel a four star not a 3-star four-star hotel not three star hotel!!
Could have been better, but could have been worse. It was definitely a better deal than other places to stay in Gold Beach area. Everything was pretty average, and no major complaints. The laundry shack outside wasn't very great quality, and the internet did not connect to my phone, however.
Very disappointed. One of the beds had not been changed, the flors had not been mopped in ages as they were black when you ran a wet cloth over the, the toilet did not flush well, veneer was peeeling on the furniture and the door screen was ripped.
Overall before entering looked fine as is expected at all BW's. No additional discount other than the platnium statis we have with Best Western. Every other hotel from Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington have given either Military Discount or AAA. Just didn't realize it was a difference.
We love Gold Beach no matter where we stay, but this trip, we were using all Best Western properties and decided to give this hotel a try. We're glad we did. It proved to be an excellent value. It seems all rooms must have an ocean view, which is great, but what makes this property even better is the fact that it has a short trail to the beach, making going to the beach a two-minute decision. With the Oregon coast being one of the most beautiful coastlines of anyplace on the planet, this is definitely a bonus. Adding to the value was a solid breakfast included in the rate. The only thing to watch for is that since this appears to be an older remodeled hotel (it was clean and nice and roomier than a lot of newer hotels), if you have a room above you, chances are you're going to hear the folks in that room walking around in their room.
The bed was old and felt like you sunk into a rock on the bottom. The chairs were way too short and worn out for sitting. The shower head was ready to fall off the wall. The air conditioner was on 24hr a day and the air was barely cool.
We had an oceanfront room and were able to watch the sunset on our balcony. The bed was comfortable and we did not hear people or the water/toilet being flushed through the walls like we have experienced at other hotels. We were also able to get a hot breakfast to start our day which is always a plus.
My room was spacious with two comfortable beds. The sliding glass door opens onto a balcony overlooking the Pacific. The view and the sound of the ocean are magnificent. I slept with the door open and had the best rest. The door has a safety bar which is most convenient. And, the staff is gracious and friendly.
Dirty Rooms. Most horrible hotel that I ever stayed at. Dirty Light fixtures, shower/bathroom feels like you walked in to a public rest area.Price of the suite was $280 a night. Will never stay here again.
I stayed here 10 years ago and it was ok. Now this hotel is really awful and overpriced for what you get. My main issue with a hotel is cleanliness and this place lacks it. The beds are old and bathrooms are horrible.
This hotel room was clean and nice, but I got the jacuzzi suite and the jacuzzi was broken...but still paid the full price. If not for paying extra for the jacuzzi this room would have been a five star stay. The hotel is extremely loud too. You can hear every movement to include people walking the halls, doors slamming and people bumping uglies.
This hotel is right by the ocean with a little path that leads to the beach. Took like a minute if that to go down. Beautiful sunset/sun rise from the balcony too. Very pet friendly with plenty of green area for potty time. Also they had breakfast! Potatoes were tasty and I got some eggs to go for my pup. He enjoyed his stay too!
This is an older hotel that could use some updating (especially the carpet) but the location was amazing with unobstructed views of the ocean from your private balcony and a path down to the beach from the hotel.
The room was extremely clean! The person at the front lobby was very nice. Breakfast was very good. Great view on the ocean. They have a huge pool and it s heated. It is cery well maintained. Will definitely come back when we stop here.
I asked for a handicap room for my elderly parents who have recently had surgery within the last two years. My Fad had a hip replacement, knee replacement, and my Mom had neck surgery 14 weeks ago to replace a disk with an artificial one, partial cage, fused bone and they cleaned up the arthritis. They didn't get a handicap room. The first room was on the 3rd floor it stunk, had some type of syrup substance in the creases of the blue true and smelled like tobacco, the toilet clogged and my parents had to use the lobby restroom, the lobby restroom was out of order and yet they still haven't done anything to help my parents. I went to the motel to politely ask for another room on the first floor and that I reserved a handicap room. They gave me a room on the first floor after negotiating it. This room smelled better and the toilet worked the remainder of the stay.
Wonderful Beach Front rooms! Beautiful scenic views! Wildlife, sparsely populated, little town with great Mom and Pop Restaurants!!! Great for leisure senior, and family stays!!! Five stars in my opinion!!!
We definitely enjoyed the pool and it was so nice that it was open late. The beach views were great, and it was so easy to get out to the beach. The Sunsets were gorgeous, and it was fun sharing the sun setting over the water with others My family enjoyed the breakfasts, especially the waffles. Breakfast was yummy.
Overall experience dissatisfied. Broken water fixtures, sink had hair on the soap and staff was rude when I brought it up. I got the most expensive room that they had and felt let down and then was made to feel like it was my fault.
The staff, especially Angela, is incredible! Each staff member I encountered is attentive, friendly and really go out of their way to help guests. Angela took the time to tell us about restaurants and even gave us a coupon. My issue is the room seemed dirty - it had dust in some places, which is a sign it hasn't been cleaned well. The bathroom was missing soap and the shower had two conditioners and no shampoo, and parts of the carpet and furniture were ripped. One thing that is troubling is on their website they advertise a $20 dollar per night rate for up to two dogs, but then when you get to the hotel you are told it's "per dog." It would be appreciated if your website would reflect "$20 per night per pet" instead of being surprised when you arrive. Because of these issues, the next time we come through town, we'll look at other hotels in Gold Beach. The reason I gave e two stars instead of one is because Angela is wonderful and she deserves recognition! She made our stay amazing!
First the good, the view from the balcony is amazing! We loved hearing the ocean and being able to see the waves from our bed. Sadly, the view is the only thing about this property I would say was amazing this time around. We were disappointed to find the property has gone downhill and is in a general state of uncleanliness and disrepair. The carpets and tile in our room were very dirty, the faucet in the bathtub leaked continuously and the furniture and door casings are chipped and worn out. We didn't ask to have these issues addressed since our stay was short. As such, I can't speak to the service of the staff at this location. I'd like to think they would have been responsive and addressed the issues had we asked. The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating when we checked in. The breakfast was just okay (at best) with the oatmeal being cold and clumpy and the other items adequate but not the quality we experienced last time we stayed at this property. I'm hopeful these issues can be attributed to the staffing shortages all businesses are experiencing and the management of this property will be able to turn things around. It has lots of potential and a fabulous location.
Staying here was a horrible idea. The rooms were dirty, the mattress needs to be replaced, broken furniture, and minimal breakfast. The staff was nice enough and the distance to the beach was fantastic. But these do not justify this hotel. There was dog vomit on the floor under the desk, it was dried and had been there for awhile. The mattress was awful, it had a huge encave on the right side. I had to sleep on my husband's side with him and kept falling in the hole all night. There were several broken fixtures and the breakfast was definitely subpar. Best Western should be ashamed of being associated with this hotel, definitely below their standards. We reserved 3 nights but checked out after the second night because it was so bad. Will never even consider staying here again. Stay somewhere else!
Great hotel. They have done their best to keep it in shape and up to date. The mattresses are not the most comfortable but the ocean view makes up for that. The ocean was a minute walk behind the hotel. It was quiet without any major disruptions. Breakfast was more than we expected. We will stay there again if we make it back to that area of the coast again.
Gold Beach was an overnight stop on our bicycle trip down the Oregon coast. In looking for hotels, it seemed like the SureStay Plus was a good option. We were definitely pleased with our choice when we checked in. The Front Desk service was fantastic (recommended restaurants that honored hotel discounts) and the staff were very personable. They had a genuine interest in our cycling adventure. To top it off, the view from our room was amazing!! We even got to see the "green flash" when the sun set!
Not our first visit but disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. On the edge, partially hidden under a long bed covering, there was old food and dust bunnies. The pool is very good, indoor and warm. The rooms with a view are the best. The sunset is amazing. Note: although dog “friendly”, it's not very friendly. Pet fee, and the staff is not welcoming to those who travel with a 4 legged family member
The rooms are spacious. Great water pressure in the shower. Friendly and kind staff. Great view of the ocean. They provided chairs onthe the balcony so you can sit outside and enjoy the ocean view It was a wonderful experience for me and my husband.
If you value a good night's sleep, find a different hotel! Our bed was the worst I have ever had in a hotel. Front desk service was acceptable, room was clean, bathroom and towels were above standard. TV was small. View from the room was awesome.
I don't usually write negative reviews especially since the hospitality business has taken a hit with COVID. However, please note that if you are not a dog lover, you might want to avoid this property. We were assigned a room that was damp, dark, smelled of pets, and had pet hair over the chair. The bed was poorly made, and the windows and outdoor furniture really dirty. I asked to move rooms but was refused because we had paid through an external site. Good to know, but also a way to treat us poorly. My husband insisted a second time and we were given a different room upstairs that was cleaner and a bit better. Still dogs yapping at night and in hallways/balconies. One tried to jump on us several times. The place overall was disappointing and not what "Sure Stay Plus" suggests. I won't go back to Best Western again.
Great breakfast, not packaged junk food. Good location, friendly staff. I liked having the economy choice since we were only sleeping in the room, otherwise we were away from the hotel. Beds were comfortable. There was a bit of noise above us before 10, later we realized it was the sliding door above us.
We stayed here last year and were satisfied, great deal for the room with the jetted tub. The toilet lid was completely broken off when I lifted it up upon arrival, not sure why the maid didn't notice that (hopefully they cleaned the toilet after the last guests). Otherwise great location with beach access, big room with microwave and mini fridge/freezer, good selection of TV channels, nice breakfast selection and it was self serve this time so way better than last year where they gave us to go boxes and could only choose one thing or the other. The front desk lady that checked us in was extremely friendly so that was nice also (we didn't have the greatest experience checking in last year). Everything but the toilet seat was good!
I've never left a negative review but I feel if you're going to be spending your hard earned money, you should know what you're getting. Every time the people above us took a shower the water literally poured thru the ceiling in the bathroom. Any time anyone took a shower in our room the fire alarm went off, even with the vent going. I called the front desk and her response was “Well, did you take a shower? Because it does that.” I asked for towels and the front desks response was “Don't you have towels in your room?” I said yes but my child and husband had been to the pool and we'd needed just two more. That was responded with a giant sigh and a ‘Then I guess I have to go get them.' And an eye-roll. As I was waiting in there for the towels another patron came in and said the room they'd checked into (it was around 8:30pm), had not been cleaned and was still trashed from the person before them. Even tho the front desk lady was anything but professional, we felt bad for her because it appeared she was the only person working the entire establishment. When we checked out we mentioned these issues to the front desk. They did not act surprised but offered us a discount with our next stay. I think we'll pass.
We rented the jacuzzi suite for our anniversary and we were extremely disappointed! The room had a musty smell to it, the furniture was all scratched up, the stick to open/close the blinds was missing, there was mold around the tub and the jets did not work in the tub. When we brought this to the attention of the staff in the morning when we checked out they were very appologetic and did give us $20 off the room which we appreciated but considering we were there for our anniversary we still were very disappointed. Also, the breakfast was not very filling. Very small portions and we had to take it back to our room to eat it (and it was raining). It was cold by the time we got there. No lids for the cups of juice/milk so they spilt as we were walking. They say it was due to COVID but we stayed in other hotel rooms during this trip and we were able to eat in the breakfast area.
When we checked in the front desk was very obviously understaffed while complaining about how they only have two people cleaning rooms today. Guests don't need to know that. We told the person who booked our room over the phone yesterday that we had TWO DOGS. We check in and they tell us no dogs. We said there is no way our dogs are sleeping in the car and we told whoever we talked to yesterday that we had two dogs. They ended up letting us stay in our room with our dogs which we were very thankful for. Housekeeping was BLARING music while cleaning rooms and talking about “f*cking toilet paper” definitely unprofessional. The headboard is peeling and the beds are mediocre at best. This place definitely has potential with such a beautiful view but it needs work and an update.
Broken floor tiles, hairs in bed, blood stain on pillow, bathroom fan that is so loud and broken that it sounds like it's going to fall out of the ceiling, balcony door lock non-functional. I would not go back.
Worn front desk person and hotel overall. Before we head out there, we called to tell them we were traveling with pets. When we got there she asked told me no pets and twice I told her, I was traveling with 2. Still gave us a room and then threatened us for the pets. Their beds are warped, towels are nasty old and gray, outside chairs are cracked and rooms are smelly.
From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out our stay was flawless. We were upgraded to a floor with a much better view. We loved it! The breakfast was served in the office/lobby and it was delicious. We enjoyed our breakfast in our room and watched the waves washing in. Thank you so much for an excellent visit and we will certainly be returning. Kenny N.
My family and I recently vacationed to the coast and I chose to stay here because for one, it's Best Western and that is absolutely my hotel of choice, and 2 because its located between Brandon and Brookings, both of which we wanted to spend a day in. Hotel staff were very welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The room itself was very nice (I dont understand the negative reviews) it had everything we needed. It was spacious, brand new fridge and microwave, excellent wifi, everything was very clean and worked just fine. The view was beautiful and ease of beach access was great too. The pool was clean and a lot of fun, breakfast was really good, not generic, tasted fresh and homemade. Great location, nice and quiet, Gold beach is a lovely little town too. The only complaint I can think of is the beds were a little hard and we didn't receive any housekeeping services during our 3 day stay. Other than that it was great and this is our new go to spot when we vacation at the coast!
Couldn't believe the look of the bed when we first opened the door, looked like a 20 year old king mattress with his n hers dents in it. And head board was scratched up from fingernails gross. The jacuzzi tub worked fine. The shower head was pulled out of the wall. Carpet was old and rolled up at the end of bed. Yeah not to satisfied with the conditions. Staff was friendly
I travel a lot with my job. And especially now with Covid-19's restrictions and everyone ( supposedly) being on board with cleanliness I will take a wash cloth and wipe down surfaces and especially the bathroom floor… well I did that here and my lord it was unbelievable how dirty it was. It appears it hasn't been mopped for weeks. And the furniture was dusty as heck.. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Room and bathroom fixtures worn, loose and old. Linens and towels gray!!! Really hard to find positives. I've stayed in many BW this year and worse one ever! Hard to believe AAA approved. Not worth the cost
My family and I were traveling for the Christmas holiday. This is rather unusual for us but nonetheless was what we chose to do. We have not stayed in this hotel before, and we were so excited to hear the ocean out of our window that evening upon check in. You can only imagine our delight to not only hear it but have a full view of the ocean the next morning! Our room, which was ADA, was so clean and inviting. The check in staff was very courteous. The next morning, we were accommodated with a takeout breakfast (due to C-19). which was very satisfying. We would definitely encourage others to stay at this hotel!
The hotel has a good location but is in horrible shape. The furniture is disgusting with marks and burn holes. The screen door basically came apart in my hand. The is a very poorly cared for property and not at all worth the price.
On our road trip down the coast, we were lucky enough to find this wonderful hotel to stay at! Even during the off-season, they still went above and beyond in ensuring that we were greeted properly and well taken care of during our stay. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful! The rooms, though dated, were comfortable and spacious. It was a wonderful wake up to realize the ocean was right outside our balcony! We would definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves in Gold Beach in the future!
Too high price, old rooms, small TV, internet not working, terrible breakfast. This place should not be associated with the Best Western Chain! We always stay at Best Westerns as we are Best Western Members! The Only Good thing was we were on top floor & heard the ocean as we could have our sliding glass door open & helped room to smell better. Not sure pets or just because building is so old!
The front desk staff was very polite and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable with great view! Looking forward to staying again I the future! Definitely recommend staying here when staying in Gold Beach
Why rent rooms that do not have heat and only suggest additional blankets Would be nice if they had a breakfast no bread milk cereal would give more than 2 sausages per person I would rather sleep in my car
Two tiny sausages, tiny amount of scrambled eggs, 2 oz of orange juice, and potatoes. When we asked the two female servers if we could get more sausages and eggs. They said to us that was it. It was really unbelievable that they would say that. I bet people get more food from the homeless shelter than from this place. I had originally booked to stay one more night on 11/28 when we return from Portland. I canceled it and booked at another hotel instead.
I prefer to stay at a Best Western when I travel. The staff at this Best Western was very friendly and professional, which made me stay even after I saw the room. I was a little disappointed to find out that because we had a pet we are being moved from the room with a view to the lower level. When we got there and into our room I was really disappointed. The room is in need of an update, carpet needs to be replaced, And just being spoiled here the T.V could at least be updated to include a guide so that we could view what was being played on each channel.
Reserved room for 1 night with my mother, along our route 101/ route 1 coastline road trip. Picked here as our first night stay based on decent reviews and where we ideally wanted to stop based on hours of driving. However, we were met with an unsanitary/unclean room with stained towels, filthy floors and surfaces, non-functional bathroom vent/light, and bad thermostats, and more. The tub drained out the water, and we had to stuff the drain with hand towels to keep water in it. Had to put a room table lamp in bathroom for light, beds were uncomfortable and we could hear every movement of the upstairs guests Floors were so filthy that my socks were black, and there were holes and scuffs and damages all over walls. Overall, it was so disappointing, and I'm just glad that we packed Lysol and disinfectants. Had it not been so late and we drove in horrid weather, we would have continued driving and taken on the cancellation charge to not have stayed there. The only positive was the next morning when seeing and hearing the sounds of the ocean. Felt gross and icky at this hotel. We were so quick to leave that I didn't even bother asking for a hair dryer. I left with wet hair. Thankfully, our next hotel stays in Fort Bragg and San Francisco (not Best Western or Best Western Affiliates whatsoever) made up for this mess in the end.
I don't think we would be staying here again. Upon check in the first thing we noticed was what appeared to be blood on the tile in the bathroom. My husband asked me not to complain but I should have. Instead I wiped it off with one of the 100 year old towels provided and when it went red on the towel my speculations were confirmed it was probably blood. I had to wipe it off so my 2 year old wouldn't accidently touch it. I then went to take a bath were the button of the jacuzzi tub was filled with grime and nasty residue. All it takes is a rag to clean it so I found it grose and unacceptable and I definitely didn't want to stick my finger in their to start the jets on the tub. I also found hair around the toilet. Besides all of that room was clean. It smelled strongly of bleach I am assuming because it wasn't cleaned until just before we arrived as I called previously to request early check in and was told they were short housekeepers and just hoping to be able to get us in on time. This was an hour before what normal check in was at 4. After seeing the bathroom however I didn't feel it was clean and it set my experience off badly. We were also in the room next to housekeeping all night so we heard running water most the night as we turned over in our uncomfortable bed and were woken up early to doors opening and closing. Only to be fed a breakfast I wouldn't even feed to a dog that made my 2 year old and husband pee out their butt. So my advice is not to get the biscuits and gravy however at least they were edible kind of. The other breakfast offered was potatoes and eggs and sausage which was completely inedible and thrown straight in the trash, what a waste. I feel bad to be leaving such a bad review and I am honestly confused as when we were checking out the people in the room next to us were raving to house keeping about their experience in their room being amazing. Maybe we just got a bad room, or maybe our expectations were higher. At least the beach view was pretty and the staff was nice.
I did not enjoy my stay. The room had a musty/moldy strong odor, towels dingy and not soft, dirty napkins in drawer, pillows with stains, short hairs on all furniture, dusty, and the fan in the bathroom was extremely loud. The only thing wonderful was the view of the ocean.
My sister & I had a pleasant stay when we came salmon fishing. Breakfasts were very good; room was clean; interent access & speed was good; within walking distance of a good restaurant for dinner. Easy access to both the Rogue & Chetco Rivers for fishing.
Our room was clean and spacious, there were 2 issues, one resolved immediately, the other unable to but not a major issue. The people were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast tasty and filling. The pool area nice and clean.
Nice location, with a big front lawn leading to dunes and a short trail to the beach. The building is very old-school. My room was huge, and freshly painted, but utterly charmless and drab. It really needed some artwork and updated furniture to make it feel more welcoming. It's a good stopover on a road trip, but not as a destination in itself. I wasn't into the grab & go breakfast, but fortunately, Double D's Cafe is just a couple blocks north, which was very good. The room overall looked faily clean, but the top of my nightstand had some oily residue and hair on it.
My and I boyfriend spent two nights at Gold Beach BW. I was also there three weeks ago with my elderly mother and my daughter. This stay was better than the later as the room needed a bit more cleaning but this time is was clean and very comfortable. Plus the view and beach access is outstanding.
Even though they said we could call, they left NO extra supplies for our three night stay such as toilet paper (1/2 roll), and Kleenex (0). The facility was very dated plus they were putting a new roof on during the day. My biggest concern was how dingy looking their towels, sheets, etc were. Have they never used a little Clorox to whiten their whites? We were very disappointed! I know they blame everything on COVID but our next accommodations were delightful! We were left with 1 extra roll of TP, paper towels, a nearly full box of Kleenex in their dispenser and most of all, their sheets and towels were sparkling white!
We stayed in room 507 and there was blood all over the bathroom. Acting manager, Crystal, was very rude and hostile. Housekeepers were sub par and clearly didn't care, laughing & joking while "cleaning" up the blood. Crystal told us we would be refunded all of our money, then later lied and said she never told us that. Got hostile when we called her out on her lies, and threatened to call the police on us. Horrible hotel. Rude staff. Gross filthy rooms. Do not stay here.
We always try to stay at a Best Western motel, because we've always had a great experience. Don't know if it's the shortage of employees due to COVID-19 but this was the worst stay I've had. Our sliding door didn't have a lock, it had been broken. Our coffee pot hadn't been cleaned from previous stayers. The microwave was dirty and the desk lamp had a burnt out bulb, and I had 2 towels the entire 2 days. I was not pleased with the accomodations at all. I will say breakfast was good. Maybe it will get better when this pandemic is over.. I hate giving bad reviews but I won't be staying again at that particular location.
Great location and ocean view. Easy walk to beach. ADA room was well equipped and spacious. Able to park near door to room is an added bonus for guests using wheelchairs or only able to walk short distances. Very friendly staff!
Clean, oversized room with ample walk through space between end of bed and sliding glass door to balcony. Friendly staff. Cons: Hard beds, discolored towels, soiled setee, and rotted out support pillar on balcony.
What an amazing experience! Beach front rooms, the breakfast was homemade and amazing! The person serving the food was so kind! They are pet friendly. The sunset we got off our balcony was so beautiful! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The view of the ocean and beach, and beach access was beautiful. The beds were like sleeping on a board, and the noise from the neighbor above was bad. Sounded like a T-Rex walking the floor all hours. The price was high and not what I had originally found when looking at booking.
To date, our most expensive hotel, we decided to "splurge" as our first outing since COVID !! What a disappointment. We were on the lowest floor. No screen door for the balcony. It is run down, the furniture looks as if it came from Goodwill.! So worn!!! The wooden blinds in the bathroom next to the tub had no control string so we had to turn each slat individually. The mattress pad was so torn it was hardly hanging on. IF you adjusted the shower head...where it connected to the pipe it shot water straight up the wall. The caulking in the bathroom looked very dirty. The towels were so worn and tattered. They too looked like they were from Goodwill. The stucco in the hall was peeling, cracked and falling off the wall. Definitely nothing in the room worth the price we paid. On this trip, We stayed at two more Best Western properties after this one and BOTH were less expensive, clean and fabulous!!!
There was mold in the bathroom on the walls. The bathroom was so dirty and smelled like pee, that I had to clean the sink, the toilet and the floor. The curtain rod was broken. The lock to the balcony didn't close well and the door of the hallway didn't lock.
The rooms felt very outdated. The linens, the pillows, the towels all old. The location, however, is so nice - right on the beach. So, if you don't care about the ambiance of the hotel, then it may be a good place. But, for the price, I feel they could update the place and provide some newer towels, new pillows (instead of old and lumpy ones). The linens were all wrinkled on the bed and seemed like they hadn't event changed the sheets, but I complained to the front desk and she said they had put new linens on the bed. Could have fooled me! There was no shower curtain. Tub really old and discolored.
Definitely paying for the view and quiet long stretch of beach. The motel itself was probably the most run down and most expensive Best Western I've ever stayed at. From my research, all the motels in the area are charging about double right now. I guess that's the price of smoke free air.
The Sure-Stay Best Western in Gold Beach, Oregon, was in a prime location...right on the beach with a short bath that enabled us to take walks along the shore line. It was also very close to downtown Gold Beach. The front desk workers were very professional and friendly. Breakfast was complimentary and it was certainly plentiful! But, I think due to Covid, the rooms weren't that clean, and they were not cleaned during the five days we were there. If we wanted towels, we had to go and ask for them. But the room was large and had a nice balcony that overlooked the beach.
We arrived at 4pm and driving in there is a huge patch on the roof that looks like they have taped on. At 4pm normal check in time and the internet was down so they could not check us in. We returned at 5:30pm and were given a dirty room- yes they were not even close to finishing cleaning rooms let alone sanitizing. We returned back to get a clean room and I sanitized the room. The furniture is all mismatched and looks like it is from the 70's. The grounds are terrible and there is dog feces all over. It is a walk to the beach- not far but it is not lit- all the grounds lights are broken. The pool was freezing I mean freezing. The hot tub was also freezing. The people who just left said it was freezing and they asked for the heat to be turned up but no hot water was coming in. The windows all had water damage around them the door looked like it had been kicked in. The bathrooms at the pool were closed and had tables blocking them and my husband cut himself just walking barefoot around the pool from sharp damaged flooring. The next day I ask for towels- yes we were staying more than 1 night and all other places were sold out. The staff inform me- as they are cleaning rooms that they do not have any. After running all over I was given 2- we needed 4. Luckily I brought beach towels we had to use. The rooms are supposed to be none smoking but I heard the check in staff tell someone they can stand in front of the room. So in order to get any air and not smell the room we had to smell someone smoking weed the entire stay. Not a family friendly stay. I honestly cannot say 1 positive thing about this place. The mattress was terrible and sleep was not good. We had just stayed at a best western the night before and it was amazing- not this place. DO NOT STAY. We should have been charged $50 a night at most or they should have paid us to stay. Over $200 a night was so much to pay for the service and value. I stay at a lot of hotels and I'm not afraid to pay good money for a room but this was not worth it. If you do not care about value, cleanliness, customer service, or amenities, and want to over pay- then maybe this is for you. I will never stay again and cancelled plans to stay at a different best western.
Road trip, Yay!! Stayed at this hotel before. They had openings, so we stayed here again.. The good: the gal that made our reservation,( Dana maybe??) was excellent.. She was super friendly, very helpful, and made me feel excited to be coming The dark haired thin gal that served breakfast was wonderful. The line was very long, but she kept her cool, and was so friendly to everyone.. Both employees are an asset The view as always was great The bad; This place is starting to look a little dated. The pool area needs some help. The jets in the hot tub are broken. Our faucet dripped horribly, and as weird as it sounds, it got annoying. A minor face-lift is definitely needed here.. Also the beds are hard. Like very hard. All in all, not a bad stay. Glad I was here, and most likely will be back
View from second floor was terrific. Short walk to the beach, another asset. Room was clean. I don't watch TV but it was small so imagine for some that is a downside. Indoor unheated pool. Biggest downside, there was a car, clearly owned by an employee or manager with very inappropriate bumper stickers with foul language and hateful expressions (four-letter "f" word, etc). Very odd business practice and not family-friendly.
Not many other places to stay in town. To their credit, they look like they have done some remodeling. But our noise level (on the second floor) was unbelievable, sounded like they were having a hockey match upstairs, Walls everywhere were thin, and could hear toilets flushing I didn't sleep at all even with my headphones on. Keep driving more miles and look for a better choice. Linens were old bedding was old and there was a smell in the room probably coming from old miscellaneous furniture. Beach was quite a ways away and if you were on the lower level you may not have a view.
Loved it, second time visiting. On the beach, great view! The rooms are clean, it is quiet and close to everything. Easy to get to, right off of 101 but do not hear any road noise. Staff is friendly and efficient.
It was a last minute booking on a 4th July weekend and there isn't much choices available. Room need updating for sure. Front desk service was great and took the extra step to send me a text to let me know they are staffed till midnight and would need to make special arrangements if we are checking past midnight. Skipped breakfast.
This motel is old and the rooms are poorly maintained. The bedding is old, dingy and thin as are the pillows. The towels were gray. The upholstered furniture was covered with hair. The stairs (no elevator) were scary. Definitely not worth the price and does not meet the PLUS brand.
First off, if they put you in room 501, BEG to go to another room. I wish we said something but post covid, apparently short staffed there was no helping us. I was just plain filthy. The toilet seat was broken and heavily stained.. I think the worst part about it was the jetted tub. This hotel was part of the many stays i decided to book that would incorporate private jacuzzi suites. The experience has been fun, HOWEVER arriving to Sure Stay BW Gold Beach I couldn't even think of what the tub was like. Hairs.. Short, long different colors. Against my better judgement I decided to sanitize it myself.. I then proceeded to fill it up and run the jets for good Measure. Well was I surprised when a tanish color substance came floating out of the jets. I emptied the tub in horror to find goops of this mystery substance. So, I took A shower disappointed , not to mention that I left my flip flops on because the floor was a stained black and dirty. The towels used to be white once now are a dingy gross grey. I used my own paper towel for my face. I stayed up as long as I could to avoid the bed. very familiar to the tub many different hairs… Wrapping up, we slept in the car. Used the bathroom before we left and checked out. I wish I could get a refund so bad.. Anyway. Keep driving you'll find something way better.. it's a shame cause the beach the hotel is on is spectacular but you run the very high chance of catching something at this hotel. Good luck.
Stayed for 2 nights with a family over the July 4th weekend. The room was clean and spacious. (2 queen beds). Oversized bathroom, lol. The staff was friendly and promptly addressed a small issue with showerhead I reported. Location was great as well! Wish the weather was bit better. Overall, great and pleasant stay and will stay again
Room had a gorgeous ocean view with which we were able to watch an amazing sunset. I loved being away from the hustle and bustle of the main part of town. Due to covid the breakfast was minimal but the food served was very good. Beds and pillows were very comfortable resulting in a wonderful night's sleep.
Room was nice as it included a patio facing the coast. It was clean and quiet. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room to take advantage of it though. Checkin was a long wait. Rooms were not ready past 4 pm, which was not a big deal, but that required the receptionist to spend time on explaining to every guest about that. Also, a man who already stayed there had an issue, and inserted himself into the line. The wait at checkin took way longer than acceptable. Each guest was given a simple snack or small bottles of wine as compensation. Another problem with checkin was that no directions to the room were given. It was not obvious how to get to one's room. E.g., our room no. was 5xx, and surprisingly it was on the ground floor. I would've ranked this place higher if not for the checkin experience.
During a vacation along the Oregon coast we booked this hotel based on reviews. Things started going downhill when we pulled into the entrance of the hotel and saw a huge hole in the roof which apparently had not been repaired for quite some time. Upon check in I was very taken back at the "lobby" area and although the check in person was very nice I was apprehensive to go to my room to see how these rooms were cleaned and maintained. Upon opening the door the smell of mold and dirt was overpowering. The room was dingy and dark and the sliding glass door was filthy! The pillows smelled, the decor and the mattresses were in desperate need of replacement. I could not stay there one more minute so we left, paid for that night and was not charged for the second night. I travel extensively for work and pleasure and have not seen a property in this condition before. I rated it one star because the check in person was nice and because there was no -1 star.
Booked 2 nights and was told we needed to pack up and go to a different room for 2nd night- went from 3rd floor to basement dungeon to "make room for another guest". The room we were given was not clean, blood on the door of the bathroom, visible white spray on chairs (both of them!), headboard looked like it had been ripped up by a wild animal and the mattress was STAPLED together with protruding staples. We tried to use the pool/hot tub and were disappointed- pool temp was bone chilling (think ice-water) and the hot tub had green mold film stuck to seats that could scrape off with fingernails- not to mention the black ring around the ice pool. Then, after we, the guests, were so accomodating to the manager's request- they denied a 30 minute delayed checkout. The rude staff combined with the sub-par condition of the rooms made for a damper of our anniversary for sure. We definitely will not stay here again.
This is a nice hotel with direct beach access. As mentioned by prior reviews the rooms and buildings can use some updating and some soundproofing. We are light sleepers and were hearing the upstairs people well after midnight. we had an ADA compliant room which was nice for a large family stay. The only other minor note was the pool was not heated/broken and was waiting to be fixed. A bit of a bummer for the kids. Per my title it was hard to find parking when we arrived late and the second day we tried to park in a spot that had/has a steep angle which led the bumper to get stuck on the parking stop and caused damage to my SUV. Beware when parking.
Older facility, but clean and well kept. Rooms show some recent updates. Highway noise was not too much of an issue(with ocean side slider open to hear the surf) but being close to the road it is unavoidable.
Seems to be an older motor lodge, upgraded to meet Best Western specs. But unfortunately, it has fallen inti disrepair. Pros: Decks with sliding doors overlooking a beautiful meadow, dunes, and the ocean. King rooms have comfortable bed. Close to restaurants. Discount coupon was provided for Spinners, which has fantastic food. Con: Rooms was in disrepair. Badly needed new paint and repair of table, woodwork, latches around doorways.
The location is excellent, however, this hotel is old and in need of repair. The roof tiles had blown away, the furniture in the room was ripped and appeared unclean. There was mold on the ceiling of the shower. There was no decor on the walls.......we won't stay here again.
Always a pleasure staying here. Dana, Tammie and Crystal are so wonderful and accommodating. The breakfast is very good and they are doing everything they can to make you feel right at home. We have enjoyed different variations of the first floor and lower floor and recommend this hotel. The pool is nice. This hotel offers a convenient laundry room. We have stayed here three times and have always been consistently satisfied. We highly recommend this hotel. Thanks again!
I enjoyed my long weekend at the SureStay Plus Hotel, Gold Beach. Friendly staff, safe place. The service exceeded expectations, while I explored the community. It was great to listen to the ocean waves on the deck.
This is a Best Western? They should be ashamed of themselves. The room was unsatisfactory. There was missing lock on the sliding door and a board is used below to keep it from being opened. The roof looked like it needs some work. The towels were rough and old. The bottom sheet on the bed was rough, as well. Please don't stay here. It was not a pleasant experience. Let's not forget the unfriendly staff in the office. I will not be back.
On their website, it states for most rooms whether it's "LOWER LEVEL," "3RD FLOOR," or "PARKING LEVEL." There was about a $15 per level premium the higher up one goes. There are also 16 steps for the lower or 3rd level, with no elevators. Due to an injury, I had to switch rooms, but the initial discount was gone. However, it was mostly worth it for the better view and far easier loading and unloading from the parking level. The views are from a distance, at least a few hundred feet from the ocean, and the higher up you are, the better it is. The indoor pool is warmer than most, and pool times are reserved with some overlapping. Breakfast is a fixed menu and earlier than most, with only one cup of coffee.
I am writing to clarify something that other travelers might be wondering about. Coming from our home in inland Oregon, we want to be able to (1) see the ocean and (2) hear the ocean. To that end, we obtained a room on the third level. (Reminder: this is one level up from ground level or the parking lot level. There are no elevators; there is a stairway with 15 steps.) This room met both of our criteria. But what, one may wonder, could we see? We could see the sandy expanse immediately in front of our room, which rose to a level that blocks one's vision of the waves breaking on the beach. But we could clearly see the immense gray expanse of the ocean beyond that. And we could also clearly view the waves breaking on the beach on the segments of land immediately adjacent to our property both to the south and to the north. For our purposes, that sufficed. And that is the difference between the third floor and ground floor rooms -- you cannot see the breakers from the ground floor (or lower) rooms. You can hear them, but you can't see them. That's why the third floor rooms cost more; and for our purposes it was worth the extra expense. Like most ocean-view motel properties, the beach in the immediate vicinity of this motel is flat and otherwise unadorned with large boulders or mini-mountains that make for interesting photography. My wife enjoyed walking on this beach collecting rocks which she found in abundance. To enjoy the added visual features of giant boulders that litter (in the good sense) the seascape all up and down the Oregon Coast, we had only to drive south a few miles to Myers Creek Beach. (This is in the Pistol River area.). This is where you should take your kids -- especially at low tide. Getting to the beach from the roadside parking area involves a short climb down a spontaneously created path. This is the kind of setting that draws us back to the Oregon Coast again and again. This is where you take your pictures. We found the other motel amenities to be well-conceived and delivered. The breakfast is nice -- especially in spite of COVID-related restrictions. The staff worked hard to deliver on their promise of hot breakfast. Our Wifi connection was good and I got to watch the Seattle Mariners play on TV. No complaints.
When we checked in it was very discouraging because the front desk lady was not friendly whatsoever, she was talking abruptly, rude and fast like we were a burden and an inconvenience to her. I understand you're at work and hate your job, but at least pretend to be friendly and welcoming to some small degree, we came for my birthday trip and had a long drive so coming to our destination to that was very displeasing. She quickly explained where our room was after she hastily checked us in, but was talking so fast and sounded like she would snap if we asked her to repeat herself, so we didn't understand where our room was and didn't want to ask again because of her rude demeanor. We walked up and down the stairs for awhile lost and finally found a housekeeping employee to ask, she was very friendly and told us exactly where our room was with a sweet voice and a smile, I told my boyfriend that she should be the front desk lady. I'd give 4 or 5 stars if we didn't have the snappy staff experiences and also the breakfast experience the first morning was poor too, other than that, the room is great, we got the jetted tub, the bed was comfy (more or thicker blankets would be nice though, we finally asked for more the last night because we were tired of being cold, then found there were extra blankets hidden in a drawer as we were leaving), there's a microwave and fridge that works well, very spacious, wifi doesn't really work but I also have Tmobile so that's most likely the problem, great beach access and view, nice closet space, roomy bathroom. We would have liked to not walk up and down the flights of stairs with our luggage wondering where our room is after a 6 hour drive. I've worked in customer service for a very long time and know that even the slightest change in your tone of voice and demeanor can make a huge difference in how the customer perceives their experience, maybe they were all having bad days who knows. The morning breakfast lady wasn't much better and they were very stingy, she wouldn't let me have one of each item, I was very hungry and it was my birthday so being told no first thing in the morning was upsetting. Also, their menu says they have other juices than apple and orange but they don't offer it, when I asked if they have the guava juice that's listed on the menu she just repeated herself in a rude tone APPLE OR ORANGE? instead of explaining why their menu says there are other options but don't actually let guests have them. There was no one behind us waiting in either instances, so not sure why we were treated like an inconvenience or like we were holding up a line. The next morning the lady working the front was nicer luckily but I was hesitant to even get breakfast. I called to ask for more towels our third day since they are not cleaning rooms unless requested, the lady that answered the phone was snappy with me, saying she was the only one there like I should have known when the house keepers come in and how dare I call and ask for towels, when at the beginning of the call I had even said "I don't need them right away but sometime today" so they wouldn't be rushed because I was already expecting whoever answered the phone to be snappy from all the other encounters. I was afraid to ask any of the employees any questions at that point because I was tired of getting snapped at. Our last day when I was leaving there was a very friendly lady, I think she was part of housekeeping and said she hopes we had a nice stay, so that was nice to leave to.
I love this place, there was a short walk through tall grasses to get to the beach and you feel like you are all alone, the only footprints in the sand were mine, so used to SoCal where everyone in on the beach
This Best Western hasn't used COVID-19 as an excuse for not serving a full and delicious home-made breakfast for it's customers....Sure Stay found a way to accommodate the mandated COVID requirements and STILL offer their travelers the best of their services - WAY to GO Sure Stay in Seaside! Breakfast was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. We didn't even mind needing to carry the meal back to our rooms as we were on the third floor and had a lovely balcony to eat breakfast on ... while listening to the amazing ocean. Hotel personnel were courteous, caring, and professional . We will return here again next time in Seaside, Oregon
Fantastic location! Great view! Comfortable for family of 4. Breakfast was great and convenient given the current environment. Easy access and close parking. Worth the extra cost to stay at this location.
The walls are super thin. You can hear when people cough on the floor above you and next to you. They advertise it as an ocean view but that's not true. You can see a sliver of the ocean from where you're at. You're better off driving further down the freeway and paying the same price but nicer.
This facility is older than a lot of Best Western Hotels, but dont let that fool you the people working there are some of the best we have seen, the rooms are older but in very good condition, great whirlpool room!!!
While the room had very nice view of the ocean, it was unfortunately filthy. The sliding door was liquid stained, top to bottom. Dated furnishings, musty odor and certainly bed bugs perhaps because from head to lower torso, we felt random itching ALL night long. Went away after draping towels over the pillows and the bed sheets. Also, you are greeted to the property by the sight of a roof with blown shingles. Not good. Grade F
We were able to check in an hour early and the front office staff were helpful. The motel is right at the beach with a lovely trail, and nice views. We were disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. There were hairs on the bathroom wall and two on the edge of the tub, There was a used bottle cap on the floor behind the chair, so they must not have moved any furniture. The room was spacious- but a little dingy. The sheets and towels were poor quality. This will not be a first choice in the future- in spite of the lovely location.
This hotel is bad! I will never stay there again or recommend it to anyone . Your pay for a four star hotel rates and you get half star room. The room was very outdated and had a smell to it, the carpet was damp, the linen was gray and rough to touch. The staff at check in was very rude and dirty she was a young woman that looked she could use a good shower and shampoo. The hotel is not like the pictures online
This is now the third time I have stayed here, and again it was a very pleasant stay. The view from my third floor room is fantastic. The room was clean, and adequately supplied. I like having a microwave and mini fridge in my room, as I stay for several nights and like to be able to fix some of my own food. The Breakfast they supply is hot and of ample amount. The front desk staff is always very nice. I will definitely stay here again.
Everyone that helped us was wonderful! We will definitely go back to Gold Beach and stay at SureStay again. The room was clean and the staff was super friendly. We also enjoyed being able to view and hear the ocean.
I would never stay here again nor would I recommend this to anyone. The room smelled awful when I first arrived and was not clean. The floor felt damp so I never removed my shoes. I could hear every step from the guests above me along with anyone walking down the hall no matter how close to my room they were. I spoke to the front desk after the first night about changing rooms and was told nothing was available. Ok, no problem could I cancel the remainder of my stay and move somewhere else, to this I was told no that they needed 48 hours cancellation notice and since I was only staying 2 more nights there was nothing they could do. I ended up paying to go stay somewhere else in addition to paying for this room so I could get some sleep.
Nothing terribly exciting. A basic room. Small TV, and older bathroom. Clean. Good breakfast. The view is spectacular from the upper floors. A bit overpriced for what you get, but that seems to be the norm at the Oregon coast.
Of course the view is beautiful. The room was just updated but the floor was already breaking, headboard was a mess and the shower head leaked. Needs some more TLC. I understand the beds are hard to last longer but dear lord I was in pain.
I really, really wish I could have stayed at the place I booked. I booked the same day of my stay through a third party. When I showed up, no one was at the front desk or answering the after-hours phone (this was before hours). I also contacted the international customer service number and they were unable to get ahold of anyone either. After about half an hour, I tried again. And again. There were other customers there in the same situation. And luckily, they called around the area to find a different hotel and we were able to relocate. I still don't know what happened, and the third party website was able to help me get credit through them but I was very disappointed, and am truly hopeful this does not happen to anyone else.
The hotel is very nice and the rooms have ocean views. The staff are very friendly. The room was well kept and very clean. The only negative is their pet policy prices. We did not bring our two small puppies because they charge higher prices for pets than most hotels.
An excellent room with a gorgeous view and beach access! There's plenty of space and amenities to choose from! Totally kid friendly! My kid needed a little escape from being home for nearly a year! This place was wonderful! The staff is so kind and they are very accommodating! Will return soon!
Have tried this place several times hoping it'd be better. Hard to believe it's a Best Western brand. Very old, dated. Feels dirty. Towels gray! Sink plumbing loose. Staff at front desk seemed "bored with it all". Rattled off her "check in speech". Don't think she ever even looked at me. I have stayed at many BWs and this one is the worst, most expensive I've been too.
When we travel to the coast we love to stay here. The rooms are clean and spacious. The view of the ocean and sunsets are great since it's a beachfront property. A short walk from the room down their path and you can walk miles on the beach. The rooms have a balcony you can sit on chairs provided and enjoy the ocean unlike another close by that only has a window unless you pay more. My family and friends stay here when they also come to the coast and this is our third time. Even with the storm, we were able to leave the sliding door open and listen to the waves crush and still be warm inside. The only thing I suggest is not to leave your suitcase next to the front door when you come inside the room. We did not knowing and the heater melted our hard case suitcase.
Great location and the to go breakfast was very good and great idea during these crazy times . I will come back again very soon I hope. It's nice having long term employees at this property it makes a big difference in my mind,
The best western in gold beach offered me the opportunity to stroll on the beach all the way down to the Rouge River‘s jetty going north and the one of most beautiful hidden Oregon coast lines between Brookings and Gold Beach. Cape Sebastian is a hidden gem of both hiking down to the rugged coast line and witnessing one of the most breathtaking sunsets I've ever seen while the waves and the mist blue in the ocean breeze. There are some amazing hikes along this stretch of the Oregon coast highway and I hiked every single one. The room I stayed in was beautiful and had a beautiful view however needed some updating and some overall work in amenities and overall comfort the towels were towels that you were washer vehicles with. It was a good overall experience though
Nice clean and wonderful ocean view. Staff friendly and very accommodating. During the Covid-19 crisis they have taken good measures to make sure that all rooms are clean in plenty of time before the next guest checks in.
The view was amazing—right near the beach and easy access made it enjoyable. Beds were comfy and it was nice to have a fridge and freezer for our stay. That's about all the positive things I can say though. The broken screen door on patio made it so you had to choose to have air flow or bugs, grout coming out from bathroom floor tile sticks to feet after shower, carpet so filthy my kids feet turned black walking across it. When we checked in the pillowcases were dirty on the bed. In a time of extra-cleanliness for Covid I would have expected better at check in. Later in our stay the key quit working to our room. The service guy came over, pounded on the silver key mechanism and said you just have to do that sometimes for the battery to work. What he meant was every time, and even then it didn't always work. If I judged the Best Western by this hotel I would never stay in one again.
Importantly during this pandemic, this hotel had a really clean room. I really liked the beachfront balcony. "Beachfront" is pushing it a bit. You had to walk down a sand trail for a bit before getting to the water, but I thought the area was beautiful. See picture below for view from balcony. Nice place to stop for the night on a HWY 1 roadtrip.
My husband and I have stayed here a few years ago and it has really gone down hill. The towels were gross- a dark grey. My feet were dirty after walking on the floor after a shower. Dust on the “less frequently “ touched items. The refrigerator was still dirty inside, yellow spilt goop. Way over priced.
The rooms are old and the carpet needs to be replaced with laminate as it is holding a bad musty smell. We had to change rooms upon arrival as the smell was so bad. The 2nd room was not much better. We had to spray linen spray on the bed and around the room to even try to sleep. The housekeeping staff does not report or even check if light bulbs are working or if lamps even have them. The outside needs a good power washing. I would not stay at this hotel again. The only upside was the front desk staff they where all very nice.
My husband we're traveling up the Coast of Oregon. I have used Best Western in the past so I booked this one. There were many choices but because of my good experience with Best Western I chose this one. I have traveled all over the world and the sheets and towels at this Best Western were HORRIBLE. The sheets were very “tired”. The towels were so gray and felt like I was using a loofa.
This is probably the best location to stay in Gold Beach if you want a great view of the Pacific Ocean, Also, it's on the south end of town away from the busiest areas. It's been our go-to place in Gold Beach for many years. Units have been nicely updated and rooms are very spacious. Not luxury but Gold Beach is not a luxury town and is hundreds of miles away from the large cities in the Pacific Northwest and California which cuts down on the traffic.
The lady at the front desk is rude and seemed inconvenienced by our requests. The halls are dirty, walls are chipped and mildewed in places. ice machine is broken as noted in a year old review. worst thing- the walls are paper thin. we were told "not to move "that this family was leaving, but they returned at 8pm and the elephant stampede and barking dog started up again-too late to move.
I stayed here with 2 friends over Labor Day weekend. After encountering a detour due to the fires in Oregon, I phoned the check-in staff that we'd be arriving between 11pm-midnight simply as a courtesy and it hopes our room wouldn't be given away. As a frequent traveler for business and leisure I've only encountered this at small mom-and-pop businesses and being a Best Western didn't pressure a barrier, but none-the-less, being a small town I assume most things close a little early despite the Best Western reservation website promising 24-hour front desk staff. For starters, the staff was incredibly rude when I called as a courtesy to let them know about our arrival time. She made me feel so uncomfortable that we scarfed down the food we were eating after not eating all day and rushed into the car, speeding probably dangerously through the Windee roads that it takes to get to Gold Beach. She made me feel so uncomfortable that we scarfed down the food we were eating after not eating all day and rushed into the car, speeding probably dangerously through the windy roads that it takes to get to Gold Beach. But it only got worse from there... upon arrival (between 11-12 as I promised) the night Reception staff was even more absurd, incredibly unprofessional, rude, and made us feel unsafe. After calling at 10 to midnight to inform her we had arrived, she proceeded to tell us she would be there in 15 to 30 minutes. We had arrived within the window that I told her we would, and I would've expected this disdain had we arrived after that time but to not be there, be ready and be professional was incredibly disappointing after a 5 hour drive. She greeted us by flinging the front doors open wearing a shirt that said “trump 2020 because f*** your feelings “– had I not been so tired I prob would've said no, f*** yours. To top of her absurd behavior, she was not wearing a face mask when she checked me into the hotel which is also not acceptable especially during Covid. In addition she threw up two middle fingers at us after she checked us out. As a Navy Vet and someone working in healthcare it was disgusting. I did pass along the feedback and details to the morning manager who offered a $50 refund however she was supposed to contact the regional manager and owners regarding the incident. I would like a full refund I have yet to receive.
I called late for a room with an ocean view on Labor Day weekend. Was told that the only rooms left did not have a balcony, but did have an ocean view. My wife and I arrived to find a nice room with windows so old and foggy that we couldn't see anything. I do not blame the staff, but the owner should recognize that they are guilty of false advertising. In addition, the windows in our room were directly above the beach access, and I was very concerned that the rusty, very hard to open windows were a safety hazard to those below. Buyer beware. Don't book room 332 until you have notice that the windows have been replaced. .
We are going back in Sept! Wonderful stay, could hear AND see ocean everyday om balcony. Very large room.... comfy bed. Easy parking, small flight of stairs to 3rd story room - no biggie. Balcony was larger then we have used on cruise ships - lots of room.
Make sure you ask for a balcony room at this hotel. The windows in the window rooms are foggy and you cannot see the beach. Also, the hotel has-0- air conditioning, so if it's really hot or you like to sleep really cold, it could be a problem. Avoid the free hotel breakfast and go to a nearby restaurant. Hotel does offer 15% off coupons for Spinners local restaurant and it is wonderful! 4 stars -fresh seafood and great steaks!
We stayed at this Hotel on 7/21 & 22 and it was a Great choice. We had a nice View of the Ocean from our deck and we could walk to the Ocean from the Hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was grab and go which Works in these times.I would definitely return.
We loved the location of this hotel, literally right on the sand dune. It was a short walk to the beach from the room. We had chosen the ground floor, which the room are interior corridors so it was very quiet at night. They had just started doing a hot breakfast, which was either scrambled eggs and potatoes or Biscuits and Gravy, but the portions were so small, other hotels have given us twice the amount, and no sides, only juice or coffee is offered. Plan to bring some sides or you will be hungry.
We were traveling up PCH and wanted to stay at Best Western hotel as they are consistently clean and moderately priced. This hotel is located right on the beach with easy access from the hotel grounds. We had a 3rd floor room with a balcony. Comfortable chairs and a small table made for great viewing in late afternoon and sunset. Room was large, clean and comfortable! Sea breezes, crashing surf and beautiful views made us feel like we were on a ship again. We will be back and hopefully for more than one night! Staff was great and breakfast was delicious and served creatively due to COVID-19 safety precautions. Two options were offered to take back to room- both had scrambled eggs, one with biscuits and gravy and one with potatoes.
When you are looking for a deck facing the beach this is it. When you are looking for a very nice room, clean, great beds, breakfast items, this is it. The one ONLY downside were some guests that came in very late and seemed to take over an hour+ to unload into the room above. There was long, loud heavy stomping and shuffling pretty late. Outside of that, the location is VERY good, and an afternoon nap on the deck in the adirondack chairs, with the ocean in the background, made up for the late night noise..
This facility has all the potential to be a great stay. The location, the condition, parking, and the great staff at the front desk. However, the rooms smelled of mold an mildew to the point it would make you choke. Turn the hot water on the shower and once it hits the curtain another big cloud of filth. I'm guessing that the staff is using old moldy mop heads and no disinfectant type cleaners. Didn't make us feel safe staying here during these times not knowing what the last guest or the cleaning crews left behind; that is to say besides the hair left on the floor and toilet. :/ If our plans would have been more than 1 day I wouldn't have stayed a second night.
This place has to be avoided at all costs. You could not pay me to stay here. Major over haul need from top to bottom! Staff is so unprofessional and ungrateful. Room smells, the 60's wants the interior furniture back. Any upgrades are shotty at best. If a negative star rating could be given, it would. Tammi was a very unpleasant staff member to talk to.
Lovely location on Gold Beach with ocean views and quick access to the beach. Super dog friendly. Staff are responsive and helpful. Really good vibe. Parts of the building, like stairs and hallways, were a bit rundown, but not unsafe. Overall, a lovely refuge after a long drive. Scenic and serene. Will return again.
Lovely hotel to stay- Pool is fabulous !!!! Tammie Joe (housekeeping), is extremely nice and customer friendly. she goes up and beyond the expectations of her position. Ultimately, she is extremely helpful to the guests and there needs and concerns.
Clean, comfortable, easy checkin/out, ocean views...great experience! The only bummer was the rates. First night (Fri) was totally reasonable for the coast, but to stay Saturday as well the rate increased almost $100. Discouraged us from booking 2 nights. Weird. Otherwise place was awesome!
Motel in nice shape with great location, checkin extremely slow with only 1 clerk and 6 to 7 guest. Then rooms not ready, offered less price room we accepted just to get in but room not clean, pillow cases missing from bed, only small partial roll of tp........4 guest only coffee for 2. Everybody has a bad day but appears everyone here had a bad day and it showed.
We had 3rd floor rooms with Ocean Front views. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. We also had instant hot water which was refreshing as we didn't have to wait. One needs to book very early in order to get a reservation. They provide take out breakfast, which is a Bagel, nut bar, coffee, or juice only at this time if you desire something. This is a fishing town mostly, but the beaches are beautiful. Room rate is on the high side.
I stayed in a King Jacuzzi Suite on the 1st floor. Room was clean, comfortable & quiet. Hotel had very few guest, during COVID-19. The patio was small but nice. Jacuzzi tub was great. Not sure how quiet this room would had been if the hotel was full. Bed was very comfortable. Great location! I would stay here again & recommend.
Terrible customer service booked one day off from what was planned by accident and they refused to refund me my money and just switch the day's for me instead they just charged me for the night anyways.
Our annual quilters' retreat was 20-13 March 2020. This year I had a room on the 3rd floor (still no elevators here). It had been renovated and I think nicely. The new flooring in entry, dressing and bathroom areas is gray, woodgrained tile and well done. The bath's plumbing fixtures are updated and worked well. Great hot water for my showers. The small refrigerator and microwave both seemed new and were quite clean inside. The coffee provided was an organic blend and tasted like coffee. There still are no screens on the sliding doors to each balcony, but I understand the wind will take them right off their track and sail to the ground or the beach. Breakfast was hot, well prepared and plentiful. Staff was very responsive and a pleasure. The work being done on the remainder of the facility is only during daylight hours and did not seem to be too loud or intrusive. It is hard to quiet a tile cutting saw, but I did not notice it unless I was going up or down the stairs. I also did not notice any sounds from the room next door, there were kids under 10. I think the sound proofing between rooms is great. Due to the renovations, the in house laundry was impacted somewhat. Towels were not glaring white, nor were the sheets ironed, but they were clean and that is what counts. We will return next year.
The room was nice and had a great view of the ocean; however, beach access needs to be updated to ADA as the bottom steps were quite high! We ended up going around the building on the south end on an unofficial path. I cannot be critical of the facilities as they are undergoing some renovation.
First the positive, the view from the room was wonderful, and the beach was a short 5 minute walk. The room was had a musty smell. Towels were "grey" and one was tattered, what you'd use a home for a rag. Some renovations have been done but they missed the mark with outdated toilets and tubs. The bathroom sink was cracked! I pulled up the mattress cover and found it stained. Breakfast was a disappointment. The toaster was grotty. Bran flakes were stale. No Yogurt. Peanut butter was offered from a family-type jar. I definitely would not recommend this as a place to stay. This is not meeting Best Western Standards.
Stayed here for one night, the positives were a large room with ocean view, new carpet, new tile and a large comfy bed. However, the desk and mirror were really dinged up, finish work in bathroom is sloppy, they used old electrical switches and it appears the toilet was reused as well. The worst part was the dingy towels - this part really bothered me. You can buy big, beautiful fluffy towels at Costco for $7 each. If you're gonna remodel, go all out and charge more for the room.
We stayed one night at the Best Western in Gold Beach, which is located right on the beach and in the middle of town. The property is being renovated and our room was very nice, with comfortable beds and a nice large screen TV. Only slightly strange thing was that there was no closet to hang up clothes in. Room had a nice small balcony from which we saw a stunning sunset. Other strange thing is that there doesn't appear to be any elevator, with two levels of the three floors of rooms accessible only by stairs. There is, however, a guest laundry. The free breakfast was adequate, with good eggs, oatmeal and some fruit. Staff was friendly and helpful.
I loved listening to the ocean all night and even though I was on the lower level that had a partial view it was so amazingly beautiful and I would go back over and over again plus the treasure hunt was fantastic
Comfortable room with lots of space and a great view of the ocean from the balcony of our 3rd floor room. The tub spigot diverter could have been a little confusing if the desk attendant had not explained it when we checked in. Standard breakfast with eggs, sausage and waffles available.
One can see and hear the surf from our room. We had an accessible room that would be perfect for a wheel chair user. Wide doors, big roll in shower, big bathroom, and a pleasant bedroom area. As a Best Western Plus it's a price facility value.
Large room. Two queen beds and two big easy chairs, somewhat poorly positioned. Only one night table. Plenty of accessible electrical plugs and usb charging ports. Nice fridge. Well used, maybe because Gold Beach attracts a lot of Rogue River jet skiers, not a gentle bunch, overall. Good breakfast.
The room was big, the bed really comfy, view of the ocean. Nice balcony. You can hear the surf if you slightly ajar the balcony door or have it completely quiet with the door closed. After full day of driving it was a perfectly restful place. Nice walk on the beach the next morning.
Very rundown property which is unfortunate because of great ocean location. Property needs major updating. Thin walls, doors don't open and close, old rough dinghy linens and had a room with stained carpet and musty smell. No elevator makes it a problem also.
Our 5 night stay was very nice. Room was clean and comfortable, staff was pleasant and accomodating to our requests. Beautiful view, short convenient walk to beach. Will definately stay here again when visiting Gold Beach.
Really nice hotel that was very clean and well maintained. There was a nice trail with easy access to the ocean and they have an indoor pool and a private balcony with each room to enjoy a view of the ocean!!!
From the front door we could see the ocean and the patio door was left ajar so we could hear it too. The staff is genuinely happy and helpful. The room was comfortable and breakfast was good. Biscuits and gravy if you can believe it.
Fair hotel on the beach.... The hotel is okay, needs updating in many areas. The proximity to the beach is really great and everything was very clean, bed super comfy. Staff was nice. Breakfast was dreadful.
The room was very clean awesome view of the ocean! My biggest compliment has to be the staff! Every one of them was beyond friendly and helpful! I absolutely would recommend this hotel and we will be staying again!
Great location, clean large rooms and friendly helpful staff. They were pet friendly and we will definitelt return. Also loved having laundry onsite, though one machine was not working. Right on the beach. Great access and our dog loved it
The view is so worth it here. Easy access to the beach. Indoor pool and spa. In room coffee. Shouldn't put kids upstairs as all we heard was running. But once they were asleep the room was grea . Bed was comfortable.
We had a nice view of beach which also had easy access. Great free breakfast and dog friendly. Very pleasant staff !!!! This hotel was perfect for our trip to Lincoln beach in oregon. I would definitely recommend Best Western especially when traveling with pets
Great conference room for our quilting retreat...great proximity and easy access to the beach...rooms clean...staff friendly...breakfast was adequate for a complimentary breakfast...we were a large group and they ran out of some items
The staff at Best Western Sure Stay was welcoming, friendly and very helpful. My room was very comfortable and Wi-Fi worked well. Breakfast was hot and filling and the facility was well maintained and clean.
Great location on the beach. Nice big rooms but they need some upgrades. Tile floors are broken and cracked but not a big deal. Rooms are clean and the girls do a nice job of cleaning everyday! We stayed 3 nights but found this alittle long for Gold Beach. Small place but great to relax!
On a trip up the coast we came to Gold Beach and pulled into the BW. What a nice find. The staff got us into a room quickly and gave us a coupon to a nice restaurant. The room had a great view of the ocean. A very nice place.
After a procedure and the local hospital, the clerk at the desk allowed us to check in early to I could rest. Our room was large and spotlessly clean. We had our daughter with us for help with our luggage and still one of the cleaning staff grabbed and bag and took it down the stairs for us. We needed a roll-away bed and it was brought to our room within 5 min. There were no kleenex in the room and a box was brought to us within 2 minutes. The breakfast was prepared and presented excellently. Thos Hotel is a class act and the exployees make it obviously known that they are there to serve and that they are happy to do so.....WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WE HAD!
Room was very clean and quiet. Hall ways and stars leading to rooms really needed a good cleaning. Breakfast was fine, Scrabbled eggs need help! Staff very friendly!! I do wish they dressed alittle more professionally!! Walk down path and the beach A+++++ Slept like a baby in comfee Bed -♡
Welcoming and attentive staff. Breakfast that was just right! Room was clean, quiet and more than lived up to our expectations based on our previous stays at this place. Since ownership changed, thus place continues to exceed our expectations!
Our room was located at ground level that we had to access through a bit of a maze and down a well lit hall. The room looked nice and we had a sliding door with a small deck looking out to the ocean. We left it open to listen to the waves, it was great! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Our only complaints were that the sink is located in the same room as the shower and toilet, which is fine if it's just a couple but for a family wanting to do multiple things at once it was a pain. Also, we could often hear water flushing or draining down the wall from the rooms above but we eventually got used to it The breakfast area was bigger than we expected and the food was fine. Waffles, eggs, cereal, sausage, all the usual stuff. Everything is kind of spread out. Have to walk through the parking lot to get to the pool but it was nice. My husband really enjoyed the hottub. Overall a good experience.
Lovely hotel right on the beach, all rooms have the same incredible view. Comfortable spacious room, beds and linens were great. Reception was very welcoming too. We had a room on the second level which was very convenient to our car. I wouldn't want to be on the lower level and it's a long walk to some of the rooms upstairs if you have a lot of luggage. The breakfast room was spacious and didn't seem crowded even though the hotel was at capacity. The only downside was we had some lead footed people above us that seemed to be constantly walking about. Overall I highly recommend this hotel and if you can avoid the weekends you can get some great deals. You can walk through the hotel to a fabulous beach and walk for miles, I wish I had my dog with me. There is a picnic table on the property if you want to eat outside.
Our third floor room had a wonderful ocean view. The short walk on the path to the beach offered miles of sand and waves. The Spinner, seafood restaurant, was within walking distance. The room was roomy, with a variety of sitting areas and a comfy king-sized bed.
The hotel stay was wonderful. The staff was amazing and could not have been more helpful. The hot breakfast served was delicious and the staff overseeing it was excellent. Our room was very comfortable and sitting on the balcony looking at the ocean was fabulous. Maps were given to show restaurants and activities in Gold Beach. Our whole stay was delightful.
Older property that has been updated and is a very enjoyable experience. Excellent breakfast selection, great coffee too. Short walk to natural beach with plenty of driftwood and rocks. Enjoyable balconies and all rooms are ocean front.
Nice hotel at a wonderful location on the ocean. Wonderful views, clean rooms, plenty of hot water, friendly staff. The ability to open windows/sliding door all night and enjoy the fresh, cool air was priceless!
Overall this is a great place. Efficient friendly front desk. Breakfast was definitely above average. Beds were comfy. Linens were soft. Clean. Lots of hot water and great shower head. Beach access just outside your door. Cons: Lots of stairs and no elevator. They do have some rooms on the parking lot level however. Rooms definitely in need of an update but judging from the pallet of grout under the stairwell it looks like they are in the process. Towels were rough and dingy.
Great location on the beach, but very windy when we stayed, so did not really explore. Very good restaurant within walking distance - Spinners recommended by the hotel with a discount available. Spacious clean and comfortable room and tasty continental breakfast More of a motel for a one night stop than a full hotel, but most of the hotels along this coast are similar
The Good, Bad, & Ugly The good: Good breakfast, Great views, walking distance to the beach. One good front desk person (Dana). They were the replacing the broken lights in the pool area and parking lot. They fixed the ice machine. The bad: Housekeeping is not up to par with Best Western Standards (see picture). Filthy Carpets due to their dog policy. The room wasn't functional (see picture). The room was deteriorating (see picture). The room has safety issues (see picture). No closet to hang your clothes (see picture). Filthy sliding doors. It took 40 minutes to input my Best Western cards. The first front lady desk was looking at my cards but decided to charge my credit card anyways. What incompetence. The ugly: We got trapped in our room (see picture). We were given dirty wine glasses and a complementary bottle of wine for the terrible job the housekeepers had done. Analysis: We are all human and we all make mistakes. However one cannot justify being trapped in our room or why the maid wouldn't replace the towels or to make the bed but took the tip. Obviously we were told that we are in the process of remodeling and training new housekeepers. The bottom line is it isn't acceptable. How would management feel if they were to sleep in their own room and getting trapped in there. We are simple people. All we ask for is a clean and functional room. This wasn't provided. Excuses were provided.
This place is a lie. Not a Best Western. How they can hang on to their franchise is a mystery to me. It is an old, poorly maintained motel from the 70s. You would be far better off spending your money on a no named brand hotel and take your chances as this place is bad. Cracked tiles, weeping floor, probably due to rot that has gone unrepaired. Shoddy repairs, poorly painted over. Electrical outlets constantly failing and needing to be wiggled to work. Dirty carpet. The beach is nice, although far away.
We sayed here so we could listen to the waves all night but no screen on the sliding door. Room had a slight urine smell when we checked in, we were tired from traveling and crashed pretty early. In the morning the smell was much stronger. Wierd shower turn on they have instructions on the paper work but who reads all the paperwork, they should mention it when you check in. Saff was fine with us but seemed overworked couldn't wait to get off. Nice location and the walk to the beach and view were great.
Beds are super hard! Room smelled really bad. Towels were dingy and had holes. The breakfast didnt taste good and there was very little of it. The sliding door didnt have a screen and it didnt lock. Overall was not happy with our stay and wont stay there again.
The view is amazing! The pool and hot tub were nice! But this place needs to be updated and cleaned!! The room was so dirty - sheets, pillow cases and bedding, coffee pot, the drapes were old and disgusting. Shower curtain was ripped and no screen on the sliding glass door. When we ate the "free" breakfast there were ants crawling up the wall which was unfinished and gross. The bathrooms in the pool area were gross and old too. I would not recommend this to friends. It's too bad because the view was so good.
The view and access to the beach was great. No road noise. Great ventilation through the room with the sliding glass doors and windows.. Great breakfast. Used the laundry facilities. Very friendly at check in and check out.
We stayed for one night on a road trip. The pros: the pool and view were nice. The cons: our room was dirty (not the bedding) with dirty carpet, walls, curtains, etc.. Also, our door frame was cracked all the way round like someone had broke down the door at some point. We didn't eat the breakfast but it looked ok. We won't stay again.
My wife and I wanted to get away from the heat in the valley. Our normal go to place was just the ticket. The view was great, the weather was great, and the hotel is the best place we have stayed on the coast for years now. Will be glad to go back in a month or so, just to de-stress and relax
This is a good quality, comfortable hotel. There is no elevator and I didn't care for carrying my bags up the stairs, but the room made up for it. Wonderful balcony overlooking the ocean. My king room was larger than expected. I slept with the patio door open so I could hear the waves. No insects, no problems. I would go back.
This hote has a wondeeful view from EVERY room! The large floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass door make is easy to take in the ocean view, sounds, and breeze. Each room also has a large patio to enjoy the ocean from. In addition, the rooms are getting remodeled and look fantastic! I also has a couch in my room in addition to my desk, king bed, and a nice chair. Tons of room in these rooms if you need a roll away as well.
We've stayed at this property before. It is nice to see that they have repainted many areas of the hotel. There is still quite a bit of maintenance to be done around the hotel though. The location itself is good, most of the rooms have ocean views and deck chairs which is nice. The rather high price during peak travel season reflects this. The rooms are generously sized. The interior of the rooms is kind of rough around the edges though and further continued maintenance is warranted. The furnishings are worn, the paint/stain around the mirror in the bathroom is completely worn off. The floor tiles in the commode/shower area are all cracked and crunch under one's feet. Lots of dirt around the floor corner tiles. The towels are a bit worse for the wear too. The pool area is also a little tired and could use some maintenance. I could never get my key to work in the room door or to the pool area, even after being reset by the front desk numerous times. The ice maker on our floor was out of commission and was very dirty. Two cleaning carts with glassware and other room items was left out in the elements overnight. Kind of unsightly and unsanitary. Our room had a very funky smell; was told that the carpets had been cleaned which is nice, but very smelly. This hotel has the potential to be a great place, but needs some continued maintenance and updating. It is okay for an overnight, but I would not care for an extended stay. I hope they continue to improve because this is a great location with a lot of potential.
Pros: It's has relatively easy beach access. The staff were kind. Cons: This place is very dated and dirty. Some of the filth is from years of neglect of the building itself and some is just poor cleaning. The staff seemed a bit unorganized or out of sorts. Please do yourself a favor and skip this place.
SureStay has its pros and cons. Pros: Bed was clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of the ocean and were close enough to hear the sound of the waves (with door open). Very nice indoor pool area. The continental breakfast offered some nice choices; I loved the sausage gravy. The eating area was clean and spacious. Much better than even some of the hotels we've been to before. A+! Friendly staff; when the front desk was super busy, I was able to talk to someone in the Housekeeping rooms and they came by right away. Cons: No place to hang anything. I read in another review that portable racks can be requested but this isn't the kind of thing one would necessarily know to ask for. Phone and iron were not working. The phone never did get attended to during our 2-night stay, but we were able to get a replacement iron. The overall impression was that the place is run-down. Cracked sink, dingy gray towels, pool bathroom didn't seem too clean (hair on the floors, yeeeww). Pool towels are too small (and the same dingy gray). When we returned to our room after our first night, we weren't sure that it had been made up. The bedding seemed to be hastily just thrown over the bed, pillows not replaced nicely, not terribly inviting. At least the bathroom was noticeably attended to. Probably because this is a motel, there was unavoidable noise -- what sounded like kids or pets racing around overhead and on the balconies meant we didn't get as much rest as we would have liked.
Definitely not worth $200.00 per night! Furnishings were a "hodge podge" (services of an interior decorator would be helpful), not one item matched and appear to have been purchased at a yard sale! Desk lamp did not work. The glass in the sliding door was obscured as moisture had developed between the panes. And, there is no rod or hooks on which to hang clothes......we had to take the ironing board down from the wall and hang our clothes on it and over the furniture!!! The property appears to be ia "work in progress" but certain rooms should be taken out of service until the renovation is complete OR at least lower the room rate. The breakfast was good, numerous offerings and nicely presented.
Nice Motel! Friendly service, nice indoor pool and hot tub. The beds and pillows were very comfortable which is top notch in our book. We have stayed in many motels and the last thing you want to do at the end of a long trip is have a nice soft comfortable bed and pillow to lay your head.
great place to stay on the beach, hotel staff always around if you need anything, A+ for the indoor pool, A+ for breakfast, A+ for the beach location, short drive to national parks on the cost, Excellent
We stayed here quite a while ago when it was Gold Beach Resort. It has become a little run down since then and needs some updating. Our room needed some TLC and the TV didn't work. The view is absolutely gorgeous and the breakfast is much better than it used to be. The pool is wonderful.
This is an older Hotel that is showing its age. However our room was clean, comfortable and very spacious. And you cannot beat the View. The ocean is just a couple of hundred yards from our balcony. I'm a senior but I would say this is a great place for family vacation.
Extremely mediocre property. Apparent Manager (older woman with gray hair) checked me in. Not at all friendly. I don't think “good morning” is in her vocabulary. Other staff were similar. Guest service training is sorely needed. Rooms are beyond outdated. Old beat up furniture, holes in the walls, $75 Walmart TV, etc. Towels old and discolored. Extremely cheap amenities. Cleanliness in general was so so. Lots of unfriendly signage like “stay past 11 and you WILL be charged another day” or similar reflects the attitude of ownership and management. On the plus side, the pool looked nice and the breakfast was pretty good.
A lovely place to stay. Huge room with a comfy chaise lounge in the room! Nice view from our 2nd floor balcony. Room was clean, everything worked well. Even has a small refrigerator with a separate freezer. Quiet after all the neighboring children settled in.
Not told befroehand about construction/reno. Sign on our balcony door "no use from 9-5". Why stay on the beach with balcony if you can't use it? There was no clock, no extra bedding, old towels, no air, no screen on slider. The sun beats on the room all day and it got really hot. In room coffee was terrible. Breakfast was the basic usual. Staff not real friendly. Expected more from Best Western Plus.
We stayed here for just one night as we were just driving down the coast.........but if i had more time i definitely would have stayed longer. Such a nice place and great views and easy access to the beach. Breakfast was great, staff was very pleasant! Some might complain that the furnishings were a little dated, but it was clean and everything you really need!!! Would definitely stay here again!!!! Our visit was in late April. The beach area was just so peaceful and nice.
For the price of the room of $179. plus, this room should have never been offered to any guest. To start you walk in and the odor of the room smelled of mold, the walls needed to be painted had markings and patch work, the balcony slider was so hard to open and close I had to forcefully open and close it, the slider had no screen door. The Lamp on the desk did not work. There was no ventilation as you could not leave the slider open without having unwanted insects. There was a drink pouch that was not picked up by the chair and 2 coffee packages of sugar were open and used. The sheets had stains. This room by no means meets the Best Western brand that I have been a guest in the past. It's a shame that this room was offered to Guest. I am aware of the renovation going on, I ask how long has this been going on and why is this being offered to guest. I have pictures to verify my statements above. A very unhappy Guest!
Enjoyed our stay in Gold Beach, excellent value for the location and price. Easy beach access and lovely view, pool was nice for family and breakfast was a good variety. Will stay again if in the area
We stay at Best Western hotels frequently because we like the reliability of the franchise across the country, even though they are independently owned. This Sure Stay by BW was no exception. We know the area around Gold Beach and this hotel has been there for years before becoming part of the Sure Stay BW family somewhat recently. When we arrived we could see workman painting exterior parts of the building so improvements are still being made as coastal properties require a lot of maintenance in the moist and salty air. The receptionist, Mary, was friendly, helpful and efficient. It was a pleasure being greeted by such a professional employee as she thanked me for being a part of the BW family. I had requested a top floor room with no adjoining door to another room and she reassured me that was what I had received which was a relief to know. This hotel has 3 floors but the first floor is slightly below grade so the walk up was very easy with only 1 short flight to the 2nd floor and 2 to the 3rd. The room had a lovely unobstructed ocean view across the sea grass, and a family of deer was grazing below our private balcony. The furnishings in the room were modern with a flat screen TV, microwave and fridge, nice linens and towels and everything was clean and neat. The dresser was a little chipped and the front door could use some refreshing but I think that is probably being fixed now evidenced by the workers seen as we arrived. We understood the hotel was full but it was quiet all evening and night and we slept comfortably and well. A hot breakfast is available off the lobby and decent choices like scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, Belgian waffles, breads/toast, bananas, apples, yoghurt etc. I tried some oatmeal but being close to the bottom of the pot it was too thick and gummy for me. Otherwise it was decent enough for a free breakfast. The price for this hotel seemed just a bit high for this early in the season and midweek too, with 'construction' work still going on but once the work is complete the price would probably be considered fair for a coastal hotel.
Beautiful views, great staff, extremely comfortable room, amazing pool and spa. Breakfast was delightful! We stayed at a different hotel the first night at the coast which was terrible. Every thing in our room at the first hotel was dirty and broken, the pool/spa was out of order along with the phones, wifi, and soda machine. The view was awesome but that's about it. We were all relieved when the sure stay had a room available. The staff was very friendly and accomadating! We were even able to check in early!
Driving into the parking lot, it looked like a dump. It looked liked they were attempting to renovate, but saw no one working on it during our 2 day mid week stay. The people at the front desk were very nice and friendly. We walked to our room that was below ground level. Felt like we were walking into a pit. The room was large, and the only good thing about it. It smelled and felt dirty. The walls had marks where pictures used to be. The curtains were filthy. I have never seen a more saggy mattress. This should have been thrown away 10 years ago. It was indented where the last people slept. A big hill in the middle and bulging out of the sides. It was a joke. The bathtub was dirty and old looking. The towels were desperately trying to be white but weren't even close. They were stiff and hard. The shampoo and conditioner they have was the smallest I have ever seen. It was a struggle to get 1 use out of them. We have stayed in all kinds of hotels from the Ritz Carlton to the Quality Inn type hotels. I have never written a review before on one but after reading about this hotel before our trip and thinking it sounded good, I had to write this one. Very disappointing. We stayed for 2 nights and basically just used it for sleep. I was going to mention the bed at check out when asked how everything was, but I was never asked. I would never stay here again.
We got a room upgrade just for being first timers at the property. Lovely room and a wonderful view, laundry facilities (which we desperately needed), indoor pool and hot tub that didn't reek of chlorine, a discount at a great restaurant AND a reasonable price! What more could I ask for?
We had a nice room with a beautiful view, but the beds seriously need replacing. They are doing renovation to the outside, and I hope they pay attention to the inside too. They also need an exercise room! We would stay here again if they had better beds!
This place is the former Gold Beach Resort (not to be confused with the Gold Beach Inn, which is just up the road and not comparable in any way, shape or form). I was super impressed. I had a room with a King bed on the first floor. The room was very big and and the bed was quite comfortable. For the price of just a little over $100 it was a great value. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Nitpicking: the tv in the room could be bigger and newer. Also, the breakfast was ok but not spectacular. They did not have covers for the coffee cups, which was kind of strange.
We had a very bad experience with this hotel. From 9:20pm until 4:45 a.m there was non-stop yelling/arguing, kids yelling and banging on things in the hallway, and people above us stomping. It was the most miserable night we have ever had in a hotel. We heard the maids in the hallway way too early after a non-existent night of sleep talking so loudly about inappropriate things and it sounded like they were in the room with us, we could hear every.single.word. Maybe we just got the worst room in the whole place but it was really, really awful. We did not get any rest and this was supposed to be a special relaxing getaway. We had a several hour drive home the next day and we were utterly exhausted. We did not feel safe with the fighting outside between a man and a woman, possibly with kids present. Very disappointed about the whole experience... When we shared concerns with management, it was completely ignored. If you want to relax at the ocean RUN Far,Far away from this place!
The location was very nice and the staff were pleasant and tried their best to be helpful. The hotel is old and very dated and in need of a renovation. Our room smelled and I mentioned it at check out and the lady at the desk was very apologetic and was confident that we would certainly get a discount if we were to return. We will not return and are disappointed given this property does not live up to the Best Western Plus criteria.
It's not what it used to be. The breakfast has less items, and it seems as if the rooms were not as clean either. My husband and I have been bringing our kids here for years. Just isn't the same, and doubt that we will return.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable lots of pillows. .located close to the beach. The staff was nice and friendly. The only problem I had was the water in the shower kept turning cold off and on like someone was turning on & off the hot water in another room
Check in was simple, and I was told about the pool & hot tub. In room wifi works great (I was here for work), and the room is large, clean, and spacious. I was surprised such a large nice room -- with an ocean view from the bottom floor -- was so nice & inexpensive. Breakfast in the morning, and I am ready to get to it. I will be back.
This was the second time I have stayed at this location. It is right on the beach and the staff and folks in Gold Beach are very personable. I love the location. The hotel staff recognized my BW diamond status and I was given a excellent room overlooking the ocean. I was very comfortable and will return to this location again.
We have stayed here before and came back because of the clean rooms, nice staff, great breakfast and the great view from the balcony. Price was consistent with the area. Hotel is south of town and in a quiet area. Stores are close by as are restaurants.
Close as you can get to the beach. Best price for location as well. Very friendly staff as well. Very Clean around the facilities adequat parking. Best beds we had when compared to the best western in long beach
Beautiful views of the ocean, and lulled to sleep by peaceful surf sounds. Room could have been cleaned more carefully, but it was very spacious, and the large covered balcony was so nice! Breakfast service was pleasant in a bright sunroom, and the hostess was very gracious. Location is on the edge of town.
I have stayed at other Best Western hotels, this is an older hotel, but very clean, the room was absolutely huge. It's right on the beach, unfortunately some of the windows seal were broken so there was some fogginess in the windows. The staff were excellent and we will stay there again.
The room is spacious and the ocean front view is fabulous..the room itself seems a bit outdated. The complimentary breakfast was nice. No traffic noise but you can hear the people above you...seemed to have ample parking
I go to Gold Beach for business about 5 times a year and will never stay anywhere but this hotel. The staff is very helpful, the rooms are large and comfortable. Having the option of the fresh ocean air come in through the secure balcony, has been awesome when working or relaxing in my room. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The breakfast is great, with many choices. Getting the Best Western points is a bonus.
So it's perfect because it's right on the water. We really loved the fact we could open the door and see the ocean, but they need serious maintenance. Because of the ocean the wood is rotting away the carpets are super moist to the point they feel wet. Now we were on a ground floor so maybe that's why. The toilet did not work whether you did a #1 or #2 did not matter. Curtains needs to be replaced. The hotel is literally just surviving I don't think k it's being tended to. Like I said okd I wouldn't pay more than $100 a night to stay here. Not worth it... When we came to check in the clerk walked out as I was walking in and did not come back for 10 minutes. I guess whatever she needed to attend to was more important than checking myself or the other guest in. That wasn't kool... the fact she did not apologize for having us waiting made it worst. Breakfast was not bad. Had everything you needed no complaints in that department.
We enjoyed our stay very much, the internet could have worked better. The complimentary breakfast was a very nice amenity, the food was fresh and plentiful. The room was clean and comfortable. I would have liked to have a DVD player in the room. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, and we will return to stay again.
Not impressed, this place needs a re-do, our room is in poor shape, we were in a “ deluxe” room but far from it. Paint is dirty, desk is full of paint chips, the entrance to lower level you go down a dingy set of stairs where carpeting is getting ripped up and walls are very dirty not to mention no light. Would not say it meets the usual Best Western standards.
It's on the beach, yes, but a new person working the desk, made me wait 25 minutes for our room at sunset. Room door is missing the chain lock. Patio door lock also broken. We requested a king on third floor where it was quiet but ended up with second floor, very noisy people above us. (Past10 pm, too, when it is posted quiet.) Two queen beds, one cover dirty. Not clean. Looks like a party house, not a peaceful place on the beach. Disappointed. Very. Not Best Western quality for sure.
Room 232, two Queen beds, great shower-lots of hot water. Fan and heat lamp to heat worked well. Still no screen doors on the sliders leading to the balcony, but the winter winds will take them right off the frames, so wasn't expecting it. The balcony was clean, two Adirondack poly chairs and table were in place. The beds were comfortable, the little refrigerator (with separate freezer) worked well. In-room coffee is by Red Wagon and was quite good. The ice machine was unplugged, but the one upstairs was working. I did not check into the pool or hot tub, cannot advise on these. The breakfast room off the main lobby was clean and well monitored by staff. Good hot food, waffles, cold juices and milk, toaster worked well. Tammy is still there and was welcoming and still quite able to provide you guidance to available services. Overall, still a good place to stay. We 34 women took over the Conference Center for 3 days and were pleased with it.
I come once a year to teach at Gold beach's Riley Creek elementary school and I love staying here. The staff is great, Amy is a gem! Love the breakfast, great oatmeal! Love the view and access to the beach! Love beach combing! Amy tells me good spots for agates! I will be coming here every year for forever!!
I have stayed at this hotel for four nights each on two separate occasions several months apart, and I will avoid staying there again unless I can't find another hotel. There is a significant noise problem, and lack of response to basic maintenance issues. If you are in a room on the ground floor or the parking lot level, you hear the guests above you walking around their room, and it is loud. Really loud. A friend of mine staying here for multiple visits the last few years confirmed she had the same experience. On one of my visits, the people above me were friends of mine, whom I know are very courteous and quiet people, and I know they were walking around their room normally, but it sounded like bowling balls were being dropped on the floor. I think there is poor insulation that allows the noise to travel from above. I didn't sleep well the entire stay due to this noise. Any time the people above walked around their room, it would wake me up. On my first visit, I noticed other guests nearby were slamming their doors when going in and out of their rooms. I thought they were simply rude people not caring they were disturbing other guests early in the morning and late at night. I was wrong. On my second stay, I stayed in the room with the slamming door I heard on my first stay, and I realized there was a problem with the door lock. The door wouldn't close unless you slammed it shut. I spoke to management about the lock problem on two occasions during my second stay, and they never came to my room to attempt to fix the problem. Obviously, since the problem had been ongoing since my first stay months earlier, they are not taking care of routine maintenance issues. Disappointing. For the price they charge, I think I should at least have the opportunity for a decent night's sleep and staff who try to fix issues that guests bring to their attention. I will look elsewhere for my hotel needs when visiting Gold Beach.
Very disappointing stay. Room was very dirty and noisy. Bathroom fan did not work and was a fire hazard . Sliding door to balcony was very hard to open . Hot Tube was not working . Had to unplug coffee maker to plug in microwave, the wiring in the room was rediculus. There was dog poop all over the out side grounds and on the walkway to my room. Almost got scolded from the hot water in the shower. I've stayed at many best westerns and this was the worst so far
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel in the past before it became a Best Western and we experienced the same, if not better service. We are happy to recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay at the coast in Oregon.
I have stayed here several times and each time the rooms have been very clean and comfortable. The staff is always happy to see you they know the area and are very helpful. The best views and beach around and a Great hot food breakfast.
Recently had the opportunity to stay in Gold Beach at SureStay Plus. Perfect situation! Beach view and easy access. Most comfortable bed ever! Clean rooomy room. Breakfast. Great stay and would recommend to anyone.
We had a very comfortable room with ocean view. The room was spotless. The bed very comfortable. Location was very good. And, a plus, actual glasses were provided rather than the usual plastic. The glass enclosed breakfast room was very pleasant.
Stayed here for one night with hubby and 2 pups. Loved the location, staff were great. Only wish hot tub and pool were going. Looked clean in pool area front desk staff stated " just reserviced pool and hot tub down do to motor". Kinda chilly on the coast this time of year would of been great to use the hot tub otherwise all staff and and room was very nice. Comfy beds and loved the balcony access. We'll be back.
Great view and location on beach, yet the hotel is getting a bit run down. I heard from staff they are in the process of upgrading. Ocean weather is hard on buildings, but this needs some attention. We've been coming here for years, can bring our dog, walk right on to beach, and great views. The building is getting tired and breakfast was weak. Juice machine not working, only one flavor of yogurt, which I didn't like, and very dry oatmeal. Husband ate his eegg and sausage and said average.
Had a wonderful stay at the Gold Beac Sure Stay. It's right on the beach and allOf the rooms have a fantastic view! A nice breakfast with several items to choose from. I have stayed here several times and plan to return.
I have stayed at Sure Stay Plus in Gold Beach, Oregon several times. I love the view of the ocean from just about every room. You can walk to the beach easily. I like that there is a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot in the room. Plus a free breakfast!
Very friendly check in, staff exceptionally friendly and efficient. Beds are comfortable, little dust in room, but clean otherwise. Best views of ocean in Gold Beach and access is best too in Gold Beach, closest and no hill to hike over. We did not use indoor pool but looked nice. We walked to Spinners for upscale dinner, .3 mile was doable so we could have wine and not worry about driving. Gold Beach has taxi service $7 anywhere in town as well, very friendly and efficient. We have stayed at several properties in Gold Beach and this is our favorite.
Book directly with the hotel. Do not use Expedia. Expedia or the hotel mixed up our reservation. We paid for a 3rd floor King with balcony, but got a 2 queen room. They said Expedia booked the two queen, and all kings were booked. It was frustrating. The hotel did so well to accomodate as they could. You can avoid this problem by booking directly with the hotel. Amazing views and housekeeping respectful and hard-working. Amazing breakfast. Second floor has accessible rooms.
Nothing exceptional but nothing wrong with it either. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and not cramped. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was above average. Rooms are facing the shore but the beach is about 200 yards away.
The hotel itself is a little older but you can tell they have worked on trying to upgrade rooms and make them nice. The hotel has direct access immediately behind the building to the beach which was great. I don't know if all the rooms have them but I was given a room with a jacuzzi tub for no additional cost. Here for business but will absolutely be back for vacation with the family.
Good outside areas for my dog to walk and run. Large sized room with comfortable king bed, chairs to relax in and standard bathroom. Had to move the coffee machine to plug in to a socket - no big deal. Slow check-in.
My wife and I stopped here on our drive down the pacific coast. We didn't have advance reservations anywhere so the SureStay was our only choice. If you looking for an upscale hotel this isn't your place but it's better than nothing if you need a place to stay for one night. It's a little outdated but it does provide most of the necessities. Breakfast was good and the front desk staff were nice. This is one of those old motels without an elevator so be prepared to lug you suitcases up the steps.
Nice hotel. Good housekeeping. On the beach. Pool and hot tub. Nice appliances and friendly staff. Would stay here without a doubt. Good to pets too with cleaned rooms to substantiate pet fee unlike some places that just take the money and carpets don't see a vacuum ever. Great stay.
Be warned - The photos of the hotel are deceiving. The place itself is quite dated. The staff were friendly enough but the rooms were old and the pool area was uninviting. I understand this is a small town so perhaps my expectations were too high but it was not a pleasant stay for us. We were up early in the morning and only stayed as long as we had to.
Stayed in a dog-friendly room on the second floor with a deck with a view of the surf. Room was clean and large enough for 2Q beds and a small round table where we ate dinner we brought in from a restaurant. Free breakfast was a very good spread, and we were able to eat it outside in a little dining area with our dog. Not a whole lot to choose from in Gold Beach, but I think we did OK!
Great location, nice staff but don't let the photos fool you, this place is run down. It isn't dirty, just old. Found the photos to be a bit deceiving as both my son and I thought it looked really nice. When you get there, paint chipped, dated furnishings, pool bottom was stained. For the price, I was disappointed.
Room smelled damp and musty and it took many hours with the door open and exhaust fan running to clear. Lovely view of the beach. Has a nice pool. The breakfast was the typical hotel fair. Pricey if all you need is a room. Good value if the kids are along. Room needed a deep clean as dirty was built up in the corners.
Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Outstanding Breakfast options. They were always visible and all working hard. Nice town, with great beach access. Nice home base to travel the south coast of Oregon.
Great helpful staff. Rooms are large. Breakfast was great. The path to the ocean was very easy to walk. The beach was empty. The hotel was full but you could not tell except by the parking lot. There was wildlife to watch out the window in the morning.
We made reservations thru Booking.com and thought we were getting a ground floor due to disabilities. However, it was down 16 stairs and didn't try to accommodate our needs. Our room was very outdated, hallway rug was filthy, only got room service when talked to maid directly, paid full price for ocean view but half of ocean side wall was taken up with huge pillar. So got half the view for the full price. When I complained all they said "oh, it was done thru bookings". The bed was terrible and the breakfast a disappointment. This was celebrating our 50th and wanted it special but sure wasn't
We love the beaches of southern Oregon because the crowds tend to congregate to the coastal areas further north. Gold beach is no exception. It still has a comfy small town atmosphere. Our first time stay at this hotel afforded us the opportunity of proximity to the beach with a private balcony.....striking sunsets as well. It's an older facility and I thought it to be slightly over-priced but this may be attributable to the summer season. The friendly service was notable and the room was comfortable and well maintained. The other positive feature was the number and quality of dining opportunities close by; all in a favourable price range. All in all ours was a positive experience and we look forward to a return visit.
We booked this hotel, and thought it was a Best Western. IT IS NOT! Apparently Best Western is developing SureStay as an economy line, which is not a Best Western, as it does not meet Best Western's standards, and will not be renovated up to Best Western Standards, when renovations are required. That said, we spent two nights here in July. The rooms were clean, comfortable, but clearly dated. The beds were very good, and the staff was more than helpful. even though this is not technically a Best Western, the breakfest was much better than most B-W's we have stayed in. Great variety, and very good quality. (ie the waffle machine produced a very light, waffle, not the heavy dense one at most B-W's.). The views are much better from the upper 2 floors, rather than the bottom floor. It is a very short stroll to the beach (maybe several hundred feet. It is probable one of the better hotels in Gold Beach. This is definitely a budget hotel, but then who goes to Gold Beach for a 5 star hotel? Everything is close by, but then the town is quite small.
I really wanted to love this place. Online it seemed to have everything, and I was greeted well at check-in and given a really lovely big corner room with a balcony with a beautiful view of the beach and many nice touches. But under the surface, things were not so good, mostly in the housekeeping department. After check-in, I never saw housekeeping again and the room was never serviced. After I settled in, I found that despite the lovely towel decorations a lot of the furniture and the balcony area was just not really clean. I overhead another angry guest with young children complaining that her room had not been cleaned and prepared for check-in for hours, and the next day there was a long queue of people waiting turns for check-in long after the posted check-in time. The desk clerk said housekeepers were just not showing up for work. So... until they get the housekeeping labor problem fixed, this place is just not living up to its potential. That's really a shame, because it is a beautiful place.
It is as described but what a waste of an opportunity to upgrade the rooms, lift the quality and maximise the position. Room and whole block were in need of repair and upgrade, the area between the motel and sea was barren and uncared for, such a shame, pario door didn't lock properly and a piece of wood was left to jamb it! Room contained basics but no more Friendly staff and welcome, no issue, car parking good, breakfast basic but an ok start, lack of elevators means that unless your back is ok you will need help with your suitcase. Location next to busy highway but it is what it is, a motel.i would suggest looking at one of the other motels that has been recently refurbished until this one is. Didn't use pool. Looked ok and was been used by guests. Great location, poor execution
This is a fabulous location! Sunset views are outstanding. We had a clear day. Easy walk to the ocean, right in your backyard! Lovely place. Our room had a phenomenal ocean view. Stay here if you're in the area. Breakfast was included.
Gold Beach is a personal favorite when traveling and this is a good hotel to stay at on the Oregon Coast. Large rooms, clean and comfortable with all necessities. Friendly staff. Nice open breakfast room with complete breakfast and items for all.
Stayed June 9th. Service exceptional at the front desk. Breakfast the next morning was pretty much normal, but really like the sun room for eating and the individuals working made sure everyone was happy and not lacking anything. Room was very clean and well kept. Would definitely stay again!
Seemed like a good place to catch a good night sleep. And it was until the person upstairs started the elephant walk before 6 AM. The they stopped and almost fell back to sleep until the dog they apparently locked in the bathroom started howling. Yup, howling. Oh, and room not ready until 4 pm. Really? 4? A bad night sleep to start the day sucks, especially during the 1 week vacation.
There isn't much reason to stop in Gold Beach but if you have to spend the night this best Western is a very nice place to do it. The rooms are very large appear, to be recently upgraded and even have an Indoor swimming pool. They give you a free breakfast. Then the staff were very friendly. Good value for your money
We have stayed in this hotel on a regular basis for many years. This was our first stay since it became part of Best Western chain. While quality of this hotel was acceptable in a past, it feels below the standard we were used to from Best Western hotels. While breakfast area and lobby got nice “face lift”, our room décor and furniture still looked old and tired. When I mentioned this in my BW review, I was told that SureStay is a different product than normal BW hotel (SureStay Plus Hotels are not the same as Best Western, Best Western Plus, or Best Western Premier Hotels. SureStay Plus Hotels by Best Western is the perfect choice for those who like to travel simply and casually). So be aware, while this is nice hotel with great location and ocean view from most of the rooms, this is not the same as Best Western. They served OK breakfast.
Arrived check in is at 3 PM per website. Our room wasn't ready until 430pm. Got yo our first room it smelled do bad couldn't stay in it, second room wasn't much better ( they say it's the chemicals they use to clean with. Tried to get out of my terrible mood went up to jacuzzi that was cold not working. Called front desk to complain solution was we could leave and pay a 20$ cleaning fee. I had already called near by places. Needless to say had terrible night sleep up at 430, checking out at 5am.
We stayed in Gold Beach for one night while doing a road trip up the coast. I really didn't have high expectations as we don't usually stay at Best Western properties, but it seemed to be one of the best options in the area. It's not brand new by any means, but it exceeded our expectations. It's charm is it's location/view. Definitely get an ocean view room. It was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was what you'd typically see at a hotel offering ‘free hot breakfast.' I didn't appreciate the little girl sneezing all over it, but that wasn't the hotels fault.
I am guessing that there are some rooms that have had upgrades but our room was not one of them. Our room was in a basement type place. We had to carry our luggage down two small sets of stairways that didn't feel very safe. I thought we would fall through . All of the doors to the rooms have lots and lots of huge scratches from what looks like people hitting them with there luggage. When we got to our room the keys didn't work so my husband had to walk all the way back to the front desk to have them fix it. Our room had all old damaged furniture and the walls need painting real bad. This is a budget hotel .It was not at all what we expected. The walls and floors are real thin so you hear everything. We had a group of people next to us and above us that had no consideration for other people what so ever. When we called the front desk they were very helpfull and we didn't hear anything from the rooms after that. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We only booked this place because we thought it was a hotel chain we always stay at since we booked it on the same website we always have used but it was not. So if you do stay here I would at least ask for a room that has been upgraded so hopefully you don't get the room we did.
We have visited this motel several times before it became part of the SureStay Plus Best Western chain. Since the upgrade, I noticed several nice improvements to the room furniture. The staff is very helpful (as before) and there is a wide variety of hot and cold items in the breakfast offering. Would definitely stay here again.
We were looking for a place close to Jerry's jet Boats in Gold Beach and were lucky to get two rooms at Best Western with very nice breakfast, nice beds with ground floor entry and beautiful view out the back.
There is nothing wrong with this hotel (motel), but I don't think it ranks as more than an average stay. Yes - it is clean enough, and the bed was comfortable. We also had a lovely view! The woman at the front desk was all business. When I asked for a restaurant recommendation and then asked if she'd call and make a reservation for us, she suggested we call ourselves. She didn't refuse, but clearly she wasn't comfortable offering this service. Hotel was quiet so we slept well. Breakfast in the morning was pretty ordinary, and there were not enough tables to accommodate all the people wanting to eat. Didn't see anyone wiping down tables quickly, but someone eventually appeared. Wasn't a bad place at all but nothing above the ordinary Best Western with exception of having an ocean view!
Driving down the Oregon Coast, I now have my favorite places to stay along the route. This hotel is no exception. Arrived at 10:30 pm. The front desk clerk was very friendly. This hotel is also pet friendly with a pool and a great breakfast! When we woke up the next morning, you could see the Beach with an easy walk to the Ocean. Loved the balcony. Clean. The King size bed was comfortable. Plenty of space to move around the room. Great price for what we got!
My wife and I have stayed here many times over the years. People are always friendly and the rooms are clean and quiet. Close to good restaurants, Prices are average for the area but affordable. just see pictures
After our initial plan for our anniversary fell through we made the last minute decision to head out to the coast for the weekend. We were really looking for something a lot more "upscale" for our weekend but as everything else was booked up and down the coast we decided on this one. We got an upper level room so the view of the ocean was great.
This hotel was convenient for us as it was a halfway point on a long road trip. When we arrived our rooms were ready and both rooms were spacious and clean. We had a view of the ocean and of the sunset. The water was a short walk away. It would have been nice for the desk staff to know we had prepaid for the rooms when we checked in and when we were leaving, but that was a minor irritant. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast was set up in the lobby. I was prepared to be disappointed, but I wasn't. It was not an outstanding spread, but it was good. What made it even better was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. They went out of their way to make us feel valued.
I enjoyed my stay at the BW Gold Beach. I appreciated recognition of my BW diamond status and enjoyed a very comfortable & quiet room. No elevators but easy access to rooms from outside. Right on the beach and I was lucky enough to discover one of glass treasures hidden on the beach. Great fun.
This is a nice place to stay with excellent beach access and views. Breakfast room is bright and cheerful with typical breakfast fare. Staff was very helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
The hotel is so awesome! The rooms are just as they advertised! You can't beat the balconies with great chairs! The view is so amazing. I was very pleased with the staff and the hotel. Probably one of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed at.I love that it is in a small town and that made it feel more like a vacation with no traffic and noise. I would stay here again. I was here by myself and felt extremely safe with the place. This place is worth a try for anyone!
We stayed here one night as we traveled north on 101. It was easily found and had a great ocean view with a nice balcony. My kids enjoyed the pool which looked like they were doing some maintenance on, so they seem to keep up with the place. The room and bathroom were nothing fancy, but were clean. The breakfast was average for a free breakfast, but there weren't enough tables and chairs for all the guests that wanted to eat around the same time we did. Overall though, I would stay there again if I was ever passing through.
My husband and I set out on a spir of the moment weekend trip. We were able to book this great room with a ocean view balcony and they aloud our dog. They have a clear path right to the beach which was close and convenient. The hot breakfast was tasty and a of a good variety. The pet fee was a little spendy but we do appreciate they do take pets.
We have been staying at the Gold Beach Resort (now the Sure Stay Plus Hotel) for six or seven years now, usually a couple times during the year. All of the staff we've met over the years have treated us like family and our latest stay was no exception. The room we stay in is always clean, it's always quiet and we have a wonderful view of the surf from the third floor. The breakfast that is provided is by far the best and most inclusive we've found at any lodging facility and the morning staff are simply wonderful people. The hotel itself is starting to show its age a little but our experience has been that management has been working to keep the rooms and grounds as up to date and functional as possible. We look forward to returning to Gold Beach and will be staying at the Sure Stay Plus Hotel once again.
Check in was fine, room was decently appointed but only two glasses and 2 cups for a room for 4. We had a room on the third floor so view was nicel and included breakfast was nice but area was tight . We picked this hotel because of the indoor pool only and we were extremely disappointed that it was COLD!. it was so cold that no one would go in so everyone went in the Jacuzzi and I mean everyone. Our almost 4 year old was so disappointed and tried to keep going in the pool but it was COLD. And this was after telling him all day we were going to get to swim at the hotel when we got there. When checking out i asked why the pool was not warm and I was told that because they were going to be doing repairs to the plaster in the future, they didn't want to heat the water and then have to drain it. Well as a paying customer I wanted the pool warm and it made my experience there BAD. I would NOT recommend because they obviously do not put the customer first.
Time for the annual retreat of 30+ women who take over the Conference Center with their sewing machines and fabric. Our stay was 13-16 March 2018. The new affiliation seems to have been good, the rooms looked freshened. The pool was not available, not sure about hot tub. The exercise equipment was not available, mainly because we took over the entire Conference Center. We could see the equipment stored off the main floor. The daily breakfast was good, hot things were hot, cold things were cold and the lady who managed the breakfast was quick and very personable. The housekeeping staff were great, quiet and efficient. Tammy, the manager, was friendly as could be. Very knowledgeable about local events, restaurants and could not have been more helpful. You want a room beginning with "2" as that is the basic ground level. There is no elevator to the upper floor that I have seen. My room, double queens, has always been a "2xx".
This motel was probably very good back in the day. It's outdated and could use a good scrubbing. Rooms are large with lots of seating but dark and a little depressing. Breakfast was average. Staff were friendly though. Not the best location. Not a lot around within walking distance.
We stayed in room 234 at the beginning of March, and paid $101 for two people. The room was large, comfortable and had the million dollar view of the ocean. In was the low, winter season so very few people were there. It was clean and the breakfast was typical and good. The bathroom needed refurbishment, and shame on the cleaning staff for the toilet seat needed tightening. Otherwise, an ok one night stay and the price was reasonable.
Room was in horrible disrepair. drawer handles missing, broken luggage stands, old Walmart coat hangers (from when you buy shirts, etc), sink all cracked, bathroom tiles broken, patches in walls. Outside of double pane glass slider was broken, leaving sharp glass shards sticking out. jacuzzi tub hard to use/ drain. Mattress was disgusting. I wish I had looked before sleeping on it. Staple sticking out of chair ripped my leg open. Bottom of door was 2 inches off ground, allowing a cold breeze to come in. Pool was so cold it was unusable, even by the kids. (since it looks horrible and is freezing- they should just drain it and fix it) Room had extremely loud service room or something next to it, thumping and making it impossible to sleep.
The room/bed is very comfortable, the cleaning staff and most of the front desk staff are great, but the manager is HORRIBLE. I'm not sure how she secured a leadership position in a customer focused industry, but she's rigid, combative, and all around very unpleasant to deal with to say the least. My wife and I visit the coast regularly and we will never stay here again until the manager resigns or is replaced. Would give 5 stars if not for the manager.
This place is located on the south end of town, ocean view, great sound of the oceans roar! Clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed, fridge and microwave, close to the Rouge River. May be a little outdated, but its comfortable and fairly priced. What more can you ask for?
The hotel is nicely located on Gold Beach. The balcony is big and got a very nice sunset from here. The staff at the Best Western were fabulous. They were very helpful from the moment we arrived including recommending a restaurant down the road which turned out to be quite good. The lobby had a nice selection of coffee and breakfast was decent. They even have a pool although its small and indoors. The internet was quick enough. Definitely would be nice if they updated these rooms in the future considering the views. I would have given the hotel 4 or even 5 stars but the smell from the pet room was just too much. Now I did get one of the last rooms and the staff kindly did advise me the only room available was this pet room. I would definitely recommend staying here if you can get a non-pet room or if you have a pet then you will be fine here. Again staff was great. Would stay here again if passing through town again.
We traveled in late May the weather was fantastic. We booked double queen pet friendly room. We had a nice view of beach and back of the resort grounds. I requested a ground level room for mother that has difficulty with stairs. We were at parking lot level entrance to the room but the beach access was down a couple of flights of stairs, this was a bit of a challenge for my mom. Also was evident that pet friendly rooms don't seem to be updated often, though the room was clean, bedding was a bit frayed and well used, stains on carpets and older furniture didn't make me feel like a valued guest. I have stayed at some nice up to date pet friendly rooms where hard floors rather than carpet is used and since I am paying additional fee to bring my pet, on top of the price for a double queen, I want the valued guest experience.
This is a gem of a hotel. Right on the beach on the Oregon Coast, just a little path to the water. The rooms are nice. Great deck with chairs facing the water. You can hear the surf in the evening. Great bathrooms- they even provide shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. There is a seat next to the mirror for grooming needs. There are many outlets on the lights- great fir all the electronics. There is a fridge with separate freezer and coffee pot. The pool is nice with hot tub and all inside. Breakfast is one of the nicer we've seen with eggs, yummy sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, oatmeal, 4 kinds of juice, fresh fruit including sliced oranges. Only drawbacks were you could hear all the door slams and the fan in the bathroom didn't work. We would definately return and reccommend it.
Stayed at Inn of the Beachcomber the time before (right next-door) and it was depressingly awful. Don't waste your time there, come here instead! Our room was warm and comfortably furnished, great shower pressure, no complaints. Best Western tends to be great and this was no different, very happy with our stay. The breakfast room was cleaner and better than most other hotels, still the typical stuff (oatmeal, make your own waffles, yogurt, coffee etc) Would stay here again ANY time!
This was our first time at the Sure Stay (formerly the Gold Beach Resort), though it was not our first time in Gold Beach. We wanted to try another beach hotel and this one was a pure delight. Our king room was very large, clean, and nicely appointed. The balcony was larger than most and private. We enjoyed a great view of the wild storm surf and the trail to the beach. I enjoyed a good, hot shower in the room. For fans of rain shower heads, the room has a nice one. I appreciated having a real ceramic coffee mug and a heavy bar glass for water -- very nice touch. The room was outfitted with lamps where you can charge your electronic devices. Best of all, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The staff was friendly and professional at check in and at breakfast. The wi-fi was indeed free and available, but was very slow. Don't count on streaming movies on it. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise as it included oatmeal (not instant!), sausage, scrambled eggs, apples, bananas, oranges, bagels and cream cheese, coffee, juice, and waffle batter and a waffle iron, and pleasant seating in a small light-filled atrium. We didn't try the hot tub or pool, which are located across the parking lot in a separate building. There were few other guests while we were there, so the pool area would have been empty. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future. It was a good value for the money.
This is a must stay at hotel on the Southern Oregon Coast. We recently visited the south Oregon Coast and wanted a hotel with an ocean view, clean, easy to get to rooms, with a full breakfast included. What a great surprise on getting to the SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western. The hotel was easy to get to (right on Highway 101). It has a nice Ocean View (Tip: request a second floor room). There is no elevator but an easy walk up stairs. Service was extremely friendly with large and clean rooms. Breakfast was far better than most other hotels we have stayed at.
This was a very nice hotel. Plenty of space in the room. Nice ocean view from the second floor. It would have been better from the third floor though. Easy beach access. Very nice to walk right out of the motel and onto the beach! I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed on the top floor and the view was beautiful. King bed was very comfortable and the room was oder free and clean. Check in staff were very friendly and courtious. We must have hit it just right. We slept with the sliding door open the whole night. What a way to fall asleep listening to the waves. We have stayed here before and will again. Nice to see that Best Western has taken it over.
Hotel easy to find and with a large car park. Check In was efficient and friendly, but not sure why they needed our address (when they had our email), which we did not provide but they were ok with that. Had a King Bed Room with a balcony overlooking the park with the beach beyond. Room was a good size with plenty of space for suitcases and a rack to hang clothes. Bathroom was big enough with an over bath shower. Flow OK. Towels OK. Bed comfortable. Room had refrigerator, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. Room was clean-ish but smelt of air freshener when we entered and the couch was smelly too - so much so that we did not sit on it. Poor wifi. Drab decor so quite depressing when we were there in thick fog. Our room was also over the hotel laundry so the pictures vibrated when the machines were spinning and we were woken up at 6.15am by the water running to fill up the washing machines. Breakfast was self-service. Ok for a one night stay
This hotel is a great place to stay on the Oregon Coast. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we walked down to the beach in front of the hotel which is spectacular. We were upgraded and the room did not disappoint. They are huge each with a private balcony looking out to the sea. You can fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves. Hot breakfast is included. It could do with a little upgrading but it is well worth staying.
This was our first trip to Oregon, Surestay best western had some great reviews so we thought we would try it out. We arrived Tiffany greeted us at the front desk with a warm smile. We went to our room it was wonderful big room, sliding door to the balcony. We did have one issue this hotel is smoke free when we walked into our room it smelled like cigs. We called Tiffany an asked this is a smoked free hotel right she said absolutely. I told her I think someone is smoking below us. Tiffany got right on it took care of the issue right away. They provided us with a wonderful breakfast every morning waffles, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fresh fruit, toast, muffins, bagels, biscuits with gravy. Great hotel great people, great price. Thank you for a great vacation. Ken&Lyd
The room is large and overlooks the ocean about 200 yards away with easy access from the 1st floor rooms. The parking is tight, and I'm wondering if they have enough spaces to equal the number of rooms particularly if there is an event at their event center. The breakfast is good, with eggs and sausage, waffles, bread, cereal, juice, coffee and much more. The dining room is quite small and only holds 20 or so people, so crowding may be an issue. The help is good and the rooms are clean. No air conditioning other than leaving the windows/sliding doors open. Some rooms have porches. Dog friendly and has large area off the west for Fido. Restaurants in town are minimal, with only three that serve seafood. There are plenty of burger places. The hotel has great floral grounds typical for the pacific area.
