"Great stay, Cheap but practical!"
Trip32226186816, 02 Avril 2024

Stayed there on the 31st March 2024, On first sight the building was in a quiet and upper end estate. A well kept real old style hotel. We got in and headed straight to the reception we were swiftly taken care of and headed to the room and unfortunately had a problem with the key which was amended quickly. Straight into the room and unpacked straight down to the bar which was a lovely place. We sat outside to get as much of the sun as could. Drinks were great and very quick service a lot of amenities in and around the hotel. Straight up to bed however the heating was turned on and there was no way to tune the heating to my liking so unfortunately had a sleepless night and as a way to combat the heat we had to keep the windows open. We stayed in a lovely room with large windows but one did not stay open. We left after chilled morning and went to the Greggs very near the hotel.

"Issues with kitchen"
R3473ZYtoms, 25 Mars 2024

Food slow and late and not offered desert as because food was late chef had gone home. it took over 2.5hrs to supply 2 courses. also surprised that as residents we were told there was a last orders in the lounge

"Liesure break"
wrmcvitty, 14 Mars 2024

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at Balgeddie House and the hotel was spotless, pool and sauna was lovely and the food was great..would definately go again The grounds of the hotel are also very nice to sit outside in if the weather is nice

"Nice .. but so many rules....felt discombobulated sometimes"
Sharon G, 04 Mars 2024

Lovely hotel in a beautiful part of the world.... Spacious stunning countryside at the back ... in the middle of a housing scheme at the front. Booked two nights, stayed one. Got a row for arriving a day late, signs told me to wait to be seated, to keep children in check, staff advised me to have my visa at the ready, room keys checked, sign a disclaimer if using the spa facilities, if borrowing a cork screw it must be returned really quickly, if eating there's times to be adhered to, etc, etc. I felt uncomfortable. It was lovely, but in a regimented way. Ying and Yang. Cullen Skunk inedible, venison comfort on a plate... ... Slept well. It's quiet. Out there. Lots to commend it.... big thanks to Troy for his time and care on making sure I found the bus stop and offering further directions if I got lost in Fife. The hotel wasn't for me. Personally wouldn't go back, but, again... lovely hotel that will be to many people's personal taste. My room was perfect for me.

"Had its day."
januszj2016, 29 Février 2024

Asking for a personal credit card to cover damages (apparently hotel policy), from a prepaid guaranteed corporate booking paying over a £100 per night for a small single (+£30 prepaid meal) is quite frankly ridiculous. Bacon - was dried out solid & inedible. Latte cost extra at breakfast - and tasted terrible (person operating coffee machine didn't know what he was doing).

"Great all round"
Bluehood71, 18 Février 2024

One night stay. Friendly welcome. All staff were great apart from grumpy Leisure staff member. Food and drink choice was really good and reasonable price for a hotel. Breakfast was great and again had all bases covered in terms of choice and quality of food. Room was good plenty of space and a nice big bed. Will definitely return again.

"Lovely hotel and pool"
rachelreidgray, 17 Février 2024

Nice setting with pool and sauna, friendly staff. Apparently reviews must be at least 200 characters so I'll just keep typing until I write enough which is ridiculous because I've said it was nice, how

"Balgeddie House Hotel"
johnhancock2024, 16 Février 2024

Lovely hotel, staff excellent, facilities top notch, food well presented, rooms spacious and clean. Location and area quiet but good access to local area in Fife. Great selection of malts. Pool nice and long at 17m.

"Great Stay - Great Team"
nkernohan, 09 Février 2024

Spent only one night at the Balgeddie but certainly worth it. Called direct to reserve and it was dealt with in a friendly and professional manner. Very Pet friendly and our dog even received a small bag of treats and clearly "house rules pamphlet" . Check in was welcoming and friendly, our room was extremely clean and we found the leisure facilities excellent. We took dinner at the hotel and the menu was balanced and effort had been taken to accommodate Gluten Free and vegetarian requirements. Very happy to recommend and should we find ourselves back in the area we certainly will be back.

"Best place for food"
Julian S, 31 Décembre 2023

The hotel is fine, the amenities are good a pool a sauna and a steam room. The room was clean and well kept, not the greatest bathroom, but I don't spend much time there. The absolute outstanding feature is the food. The menu looks poor but the quality of the food was as good as anything I have tasted.

"Pleasant 1 night stay"
464eileene, 24 Septembre 2023

Warm welcome at reception however I didn't like having to use my phone to check in online at reception as felt I was keeping the people behind me back, we should be given the opportunity to check in online before we arrive. Room was lovely, clean and had everything I needed. Bed was comfortable, I slept right through the night. I didn't use the restaurant or pool but both looked nice.

"Relaxing hotel"
klasykat, 24 Septembre 2023

Nice place to go to relax. Beautiful gardens in the back so ask for a garden facing room. Room was clean. Staff is helpful. Food in the restaurant was very good. If it is hot ask for a fan. We occupied an upstairs corner room (yes there is a lift).

"Avoid if you are a Vegetarian"
Rona M, 24 Septembre 2023

This is probably the worst meal I have had in years. I had the Roasted Red Peppers which consisted of 2 pieces of lettuce, 3 cherry tomatoes, 3 pieces of cucumber and red onion, spoonfull of coleslaw and a pepper with greasy onion relish and cheese. Very little cooking involved, and no presentation. How can this cost £13.45? My husband , also a vegetarian had the 3 bean and sweet potato chilli, but left most of it as it was tasteless. We complained to the waiter, but did not want to make a scene as it was a family celebration. We had been here many years ago , and thought the vegetarian dishes weren't great, but this time was worse. Will definitely never return

"A super hotel"
Voyage57954703881, 12 Septembre 2023

My wife and I stayed in room 240 for 4 days in September. It was a terrific room with double aspect windows, facing south, and overlooking the gardens. The weather was beautiful and being south facing meant the room was very hot, but we were supplied with a fan immediately on request which helped. The room also had French doors with direct access to the outside gardens, an absolute treat. The hotel was clean, the staff pleasant and the bar well stocked. The restaurant was good, but not great. The entire hotel had a relaxing and welcoming ambience. The reason I've given the hotel 5* is for all the reasons above, but mainly because all of this was supplied at a reasonable cost which made it value for money. I recommend this hotel unequivocally and if we didn't live in Surrey we'd be back there in a flash. The weather helped, we enjoyed sitting out, but even if it had rained I suspect my review would have been similarly generous.

"OK hotel, not amazing"
Teresa B, 11 Septembre 2023

We stayed in a decent enough room with a view over the garden, which was nice, but it was also directly over the gym so we could hear the exercise classes going on first thing in the morning. The pool was a little cold and the jacuzzi wasn't in operation at the time, but it was nice and quiet. The restaurant wasn't very good unfortunately - very poor quality of food with few vegetarian options. It seems to be a hotel which appeals to people of a certain age - we're 50 and we appeared to be by far the youngest people there! It was OK for a brief stop on our Scottish holiday but we won't be staying there again.

"Room too hot and staff can't be bothered to deal with basic requests"
Spike53667, 11 Septembre 2023

The room was unbearably hot due to a hot day and radiator that couldn't be turned off . Staff couldn't be bothered to get the answers to basic questions correct like what time is the pool open until? 2130 was the reply only for it to be shut at 1800 as it was the weekend .

"Good location and excellent facilities"
Barbara H, 29 Août 2023

Very good location! facilities excellent! Basic room which was en-suite and homely. The breakfast was very varied and set you up for the day !!! My husband and I also had the evening meals which also were very good!! A special mention for Dillon, one of our waiters, who was very attentive. We would say he is Management material !!! But hats off to all the other staff and Management-very friendly and helpful. A lovely atmosphere!!!!

"Lovely stay in an old mansion"
FDM01, 26 Août 2023

Beautiful property very well suited as a celebration venue with its wonderful garden. The inside of this old mansion reflects the history of the property: fireplaces in the lounge areas, a nice bar area to go to after dinner, a large wooden staircase, wooden floors that creak under the carpet, a roomy powder room next to the restaurant, beautiful architecture, but also room doors that need to be slammed to be shut properly, the toilet flush that is difficult to operate, walls so thin that one can bear the neighbor speak, snore, cough, etc. Still, this is part of the charm of the Balgeddie House. The pool area is also very nice with warm water and a designated lane to swim lapses. One will have to sign up for the lane for a 20-minute slot. If you come with kids, please bear in mind that they will only be allowed between 9am and 5pm, and that because of aqua classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, they won't be allowed in between 10-11am either. The pool and fitness room are offered as a local fitness center as well, so it is quite consistently used. The parking lot offers plenty of parking for guests and the closest train station is a 10-minute drive away. We chose this stay also because of its central location, close to many places we wanted to visit for our first visit to Scotland. We weren't disappointed and would recommend it without hesitation. Thank you!

"Quick stay"
savinglives36, 23 Août 2023

Staff not very welcoming on arrival. Restaurant very good staff there very friendly. Room could have been cleaner. I'm all for helping the environment but rooms do need to be cleaned and checked. Checking out staff efficient and help offered with luggage on leaving.

"Delicious and right on our doorstep"
EmDoo, 16 Août 2023

Delicious food, my husband and I came up for dinner, he had the burger with Haggis and peppercorn sauce, I had scampi… it was delicious l, the scampi was crispy and juicy and just fabulous… the haggis burger was hearty and tasty. Good selection of whisky and proper Diet Coke.

"Lovely weekend break"
PaulPx, 07 Août 2023

Had a lovely weekend away at the hotel. Staff were all lovely. The man who closed the bar down in the evening (can't remember his name) provided particularly exceptional customer service. Really enjoyed our meals in the restaurant although I wonder if it would be possible to get a small separate fryer for vegetarians/ vegans and to stock Beyond Meat burgers. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

"Pleasant hotel, feels like the countryside, enjoyable stay."
David W, 02 Août 2023

The hotel was convenient for visiting family. We arrived late and the concierge helped us with our luggage to our room. Bed was comfortable. We had a view over the garden which was lovely despite the rain. Staff were pleasant and the gym and pool were good. Breakfast was ok, but a bit salty overall. We had some bar meals which were pleasant. We stayed for 3 nights and 2 days later stayed for 2 nights and was surprised we were upgraded to a garden view room.

"Lovely peaceful stay"
LA2804, 28 Juillet 2023

Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. So peaceful. We stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic time. Lovely room and very clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and loads of choice at breakfast. We will definitely be back.

"An oasis of calm within easy reach of Glenrothes or Falkland Palace and beautiful countryside"
Berwickshirenat12, 16 Juillet 2023

We had net expected such a tranquil setting so near to busy Glenrothes. Balgeddie is a grand country house which retains much of its original charm, the bar, rooms and restaurant overlooking lawned grounds. The Manager welcomed us warmly, he and his staff engaging with us throughout our stay and could not have been more helpful. We cannot understand which it is only three star, certainly merits four for comfort and it's superbly spa, pool, sauna, steam room immaculate. Highly recommended, we shall return.

"Very pleasant stay"
RobinKABZ, 15 Juillet 2023

We stayed here using the hotel as a hub for visiting some of the sights in Fife. The building is on the edge of Glenrothes and overlooks its own very nice garden, Next to the restaurant and bar is a nice terrace which we enjoyed in the sunshine. We also used the pool during our stay. We ate at the hotel in th evenings. The quality of the meals was very good and the menu reasonably extensive. The room was large, plenty of sockets for charging electronic equipment. Internet worked well. Bathroom for our room was also very large. It did not have a bath, shower only, not a problem as we only use showers in any case. The location worked well for us, but it is not a city centre hotel.

"Not great."
joannebC6646BG, 29 Janvier 2023

Family lunch at the hotel. Restaurant surroundings OK if a tad old fashioned. Food all round was generally lacking, overcooked, uninspiring or generally unavailable (no burger, no ciabatta, no initiative!). Overcooked fish and vegetables. Lasagne that was absent beef and caesar salad that appeared to bear no resemblance to the real thing. Staff were helpful but clearly inexperienced. Feels like the hotel hasn't kept up with the times. Which is a shame.

"Great spa hotel in Fife"
davidaQ2596QN, 16 Janvier 2023

This hotel has the added bonus of a spa with decent sized swimming pool which I used as I was travelling solo and there is not much to do in winter so this was a welcome bonus. Room was large but heating off on entry and had to ask to switch on which was done. Food was very good and drinks reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

"Nice building in quiet area"
Paula_n_Ivan, 04 Janvier 2023

We stayed for one night and it's a lovely building in a quiet area. Receptionists were very friendly. The room was nice and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The temperature however, was unbearably hot and the banging/knocking noise of the heating woke my husband up. We had a dog with us so were not allowed in the main restaurant at breakfast (fair enough) so we let the staff know we were there. A chap then came to take our order before we'd even been given the menus…… We then got our food brought out but no-one had thought to even set the table for us so I had to go into the main restaurant to help myself to cutlery etc off one of the tables. Everywhere else we've stayed have already had tables set up in the dog friendly area and it should be the same here.

"Excellent Hotel"
Ly2ns, 25 Décembre 2022

Excellent accommodation, country to some of the reviews on here, we found the rooms to be very modern & up-to-date, the photos of the hotel are maybe a little out of date. We checked in late at night after a long journey, all the staff we met were lovely & friendly. We had only booked for the room, as it was all booked in a hurry, but we're able to have breakfast & evening meals charged to our room. Nothing was too much trouble. We took our dog, but the booking, done through a third party website, didn't allow us to notify the Hotel, however, once we made the Receptionist aware our room was changed to one where they allow dogs to stay, so if you're taking your dog, speak with the Hotel before booking, so they can arrange your stay in one of their pet friendly rooms.

"Fawlty Towers"
HCFrequentTraveller, 26 Novembre 2022

just very dated attitude to guests. Check-in was slow as despite booking on company system, we still had to complete the electronic check in because the receptionist said ' it was easier for her' Asked reception to book some cabs, but apparently they don't or won't do that, just gave me some numbers to call. Too much trouble for reception to help I presume? At dinner even splitting the bill was hard. We asked for it just to be split 6 ways equally, but computer said 'no' we had to identify what we each had rather than just divide by 6 and we really didn't care. A lot of phaff all round. At breakfast one of the group hadn't [pre-paid and was approached for payment 3 times (after paying on the first request) as apparently not possible to just charge to room and settle on check-out Bar and restaurant needs an uplift - some music maybe and brightening up. Furniture and decor was very dated, almost expected Basil Fawlty to jump out at any minute

"Short break"
RHONAC192, 07 Novembre 2022

I decided to book a 2 night break here due to good reports and was looking for somewhere with a,pool etc. Arrived at the hotel got checked in. And was advised that as i had requested a walk in shower due to my parther being slightjy disabled they decided to put us in a wheelchair adaped room. We got to the room which had a lift nearby. And couldnt beleive our eyes . A massive room with superking bed and wetroom. Only thing we noticed was that the tea tray only had 2 teabags which maybe the cleaners had missed . These things happen though. Also heating must have been on a timer as it took a while to come on We had a meal there on. Both nights and there was a lot too choose from and. Delicious. And thee service was really good. Nothing was too much Swimming pool is worth a visit as its. Not too cold or too warm and try the sauna too I will most definateiy be back if in the area

"Great Venue"
gcarson258, 05 Novembre 2022

I had a fantastic time with friends. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The food was excellent. The entertainment was fantastic. Very happy and can't wait to do it again next year. Many thanks.

"Social event"
dwight191, 31 Octobre 2022

Stayed at hotel a few times and always good service from staff but hotel decoration is getting a bit outdated and a bit dark amenities are good and hotel is always nice and warm .The entertainment area is excellent nice dance floor and bar

"Not enough to comeback"
Chris00ppp, 28 Octobre 2022

Was there for 1 night. Everything was fine in terms of looks and cleanliness, restaurant staff was pleasant and friendly. However, receptionists were least helpful in explaining or even asking if we have been here before.. Felt an attitude of "what do you want? Piss offI'm busy eating my lunch"... I had a garden room which was an absolute nonsense if you had to go to reception or bar and you have toddler.... Have to walk outside round the hotel in freezing cold to get food or reach spa, same for breakfast, 7 am in dark cold morning have to go round the hotel again to get some breakfast.. And breakfast was beyond poor.. Selection of buffet items are none to be found there was some canned pineapple, unpeeled bananas and apples for fruit choices, 1 type of yogurt, 1 type of crossaints and bread for bakery, few jams, milk and cereal.. The rest you have to order for the table.. So 5 stars for cleanliness, 3 stars for the rest of the experience really and I wouldn't come back as a family of 3..

"Terrible smell - Wouldn't bother"
Callum M, 10 Octobre 2022

Had a big family event in the area and was excited to book here for us all. Unfortunately my room absolutely reeked of something (perhaps BO - we couldn't ever settle on the source) and nothing could sort it. Hotel didn't even seem aware of the smell despite multiple complaints and meeting the manager in the room. Needless to say their attempted at spraying a bit of air freshener around didn't help much. Absolutely repulsive and if they can't get a room to smell fresh or at least neutral, it makes me question everything about the management of the place.

"Mini break"
Paul R, 09 Septembre 2022

The balgeddie hotel is situated in a lovely quiet location with very friendly staff, the room was more than adequate being very spacious and having a lovely view of the gardens. All the surrounding amenities are within easy reach of a couple of miles drive and it makes an ideal base for longer journeys to other attractions on the east of Scotland.

"Great hotel with outstanding staff"
bernio_10, 03 Septembre 2022

We stayed here for one night 2nd September. We were seeing The South at Rothes Hall in Glenrothes. From check in to check out the service was superb. Room we were given in the new part was lovely. The bar in the older part of the building is great with loads of character, and spotlessly clean as is the entire building. We didn't have enough time due to the show to eat dinner, but returned around 10 pm and had a night cap in the bar. Angela there made us more than welcome and is an asset to an already great crew. Breakfast was also great, freshly cooked and served by lovely staff. Do yourself a favour if your looking for a place to stay in the area try this hotel it's excellent. We shall return soon

"A hidden gem"
321ianm, 03 Septembre 2022

A wonderful old building with many original features and large rooms. The restaurant and bar staff were polite and helpful. They made it an enjoyable evening event. The food selection was wide and all our meals very nice. What added was very reasonable.

"We had a wonderful stay highly recommended"
julietB1585XK, 29 Août 2022

What a beautiful place just on the edge of Glenrothes but once you are in the grounds of this beautiful old house you could be anywhere The gardens were amazing the room was of a great size and we had an extra bed in it as we had my elderly disabled father with us The bathroom in our room was a specific wet room and was huge The service from all the staff was second to none they were welcoming and never stopped making the guests feel welcome we had such a laugh with some of them we just didn't want to go home The breakfast was good and plentiful and the freshly made porridge was proper good We had an evening meal on our first night which was also fantastic it's a shame we were only booked for a long weekend or we would have dined in the hotel more This hotel is immaculately clean super friendly and perfect for a touring holiday of the local Area we can't wait to return to this exceptional value for money hotel ! For a longer stay next time

"home from home"
pdawson2022, 28 Août 2022

Made welcome as soon as I arrived good service throughout nothing was an issue for the CHEF The waiting on staff were great and worked hard rooms were kept clean and tidy food was really good and the full Scottish breakfast was bang on every time will keep staying there as long as there is room

"Mike Gomersall"
mikegU945RU, 28 Août 2022

My wife and I spent three days and two nights. The room was fine, nice and warm. With a TV, Standing Fan, excellent sized bed that was comfy, decent bath and shower combo. A good sized room for us both. We didn't use the spa, swimming pool or gym. But it was an option. We had lunch and dinners in the main room. The food was excellent and we couldn't fault it. All in all a very clean and comfy few days. We're booking a full week for our next trip. One of the talking points were seeing the wild Roe Deer on the large grassed area, very beautiful. And also the ever wondering robotic mower come rain or shine.

Hi this hotel, wzs good, for a 3*, the food was trimendes, and the breakfast wS great, all staff where so helpful, The only big thing for me wS one of their taxi services, Andy, 0159262011.this old man quoted me £40,return to take me to a wedding, and back, this price was agreed, then he lies once he bright us bavk from the wedding that same night, total crook, when we took it I paid him, when he brought us back, he demanded another 40, and took 40,from other members for my family, that £120 when I pulled this Andy taxis he got nannsy with me, . He was rude, and abnostious, said it was my I didn't listen to him, right (what??) he demanded more money from my family shocking. So use this conman taxi hire at Yr peral, and the hotel will still recommend him, (what)??????

"Hidden Gem"
dmkeith, 16 Août 2022

Glenrothes is not exactly a tourist destination but this hotel is the ideal place to explore Fife, Edinburgh and Central Scotland. Beautiful peaceful surroundings and well kept premises made for a great stay. Food wash. The only downside is that the restaurant lacks character and could benefit from a bit more dressing up. Pool is very well kept and bigger than others in much larger hotels which meant you didn't feel cramped. Great destination for couples or families. With the recent very hot weather Air conditioning or dans would be beneficial in rooms on ground floor as not safe to leave larger windows or French fires open at night as grounds are easily accessible to non residents.

"Pleasant hotel for visiting Fife area of Scotland"
Seaspray15, 24 Juillet 2022

When my husband and I first arrived for a four night stay we weren't happy with our room . We'd booked an executive room and didn't feel that the room we were allocated was in any way “ executive “. However the lovely, very efficient manager became involved and sorted out our room very much to our satisfaction . The hotel was good value for money although I think it's looking a bit tired. The staff were pleasant especially in the restaurant. We had one evening meal. My husband enjoyed his but I have to say I didn't enjoy my vegetarian option. The breakfasts were very nice. There are lovely grounds at the back of the hotel that are well tended. Hotel kept very clean. Didn't use swimming pool but it looked good.

"Authentic Scottish hotel with friendly service and 4 star amenities"
GuestTraveler5, 22 Juillet 2022

Great local hotel in Fife. We used the Balgeddie House Hotel as our home while attending the 150th Open at St. Andrews. Small hotel with surprising amenities including a full bar and restaurant. Breakfast was included with the room. The staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend especially if your are looking for an authentic hotel in the Scottish countryside.

"Relaxing and beautiful"
cagney3512, 18 Juillet 2022

Spent 4 days here. It was wonderful, restful place to come home to each night after exploring the highlands and the Open. Food offerings were varied and locally sourced. A great tour of Scottish cuisine.

"My room corresponded to a max 2 star hotel"
C4554GLvaleriap, 06 Juillet 2022

The building is beautiful and the garden on the back is really gorgeous. Thus the place has a lot of potential. Big investments should be made to bring the rooms of the older wing to a 3-star standard. My room was max. 10 m2, with very low ceilings, a super tiny bed on wheels and smelled very stuffy. The window frames were full of dust. It felt like if I were in a cupboard. The worst was the non existent acoustic insulation. Said room was between two other rooms and it felt like I was basically sharing it. I could hear every step, the neighbours going to the toilet, taking a shower and even conversations very clearly. I asked the receptionist for earplugs and she said " we don't have them". No "sorry", not any sort of customer orientation or effort to make my experience a bit better. The rest of my family had rooms in the newer area and they were not comparable, them actually corresponding a 3-star standard. It is just outrageous that mine costed the same as theirs (much bigger, with high ceilings and nice smelling). The check-in took 20 minutes - at least! Upon arrival they asked us to scan a QR code, even though we had the voucher from the agency who made the booking. The network coverage there was not sufficient so we had troubles. After that the receptionist wanted a credit card for each room (we had already paid and there was no fridge, nor snack in the rooms). One of the credit card did not work and this took forever, until he finally accepted the same credit card for two rooms. Please note that on our 7 nights stay in 5 different hotels in Scotland, none of the other hotels asked to scan a QR code nor for a credit card. The food at dinner was terrible, mainly consisted of frozen food coming out (boiling hot) of a microwave. I asked for lemon slices for my water and I was served slices with brown edges, which had most likely been stored already cut for a couple of days. I was puzzled. The lemon was not fresh anymore and could really not be used. I gave two points because one waitress on the evening was super nice and really did her best. She even got me fruits as dessert though they were not on the menu. I also slept very well as the mattress was very comfortable, notwithstanding its size. Luckily I am petite. I hope the management and owners bring the property and service to the standard of a 3 or even 4-star hotel, since as I already said, there is really a lot of potential.

"Excellent hotel"
Caroline S, 03 Juillet 2022

This is an excellent hotel that is good value for money. A very pleasant place to stay in a quiet location with a large garden. Cheerful, friendly staff on hand to help. Good food for the evening and breakfast served efficiently and quickly.

"Brilliant stay"
mhairimay2022, 28 Juin 2022

We had a fantastic stay at the hotel for a family wedding, staff were fantastic with us! Breakfast was nice, and evening meal we had was also good. Housekeeping were brilliant and the head housekeeper was fantastic assisting my parents.

"Brilliant stay"
marykirk2022, 24 Juin 2022

Beautiful setting - the grounds were lovely, lovely staff - professional but friendly and nice - just prefect. The place was clean throughout. I'd have loved a comffier bed and the sound travelled on te top floor such was annoying but otherwise a perfect stay and good value.

"Friendly 3-star hotel"
Kate K, 24 Juin 2022

A member of our party needed a walk-in shower, I phoned the hotel, and they had one room with that option - reception promised to call me back ... and did! All sorted. The rooms were excellent standard, the facilities good, the grounds lovely (though we didn't have much time to spend in them!), the bar & restaurant were pleasant, the food good. But it for the friendliness of the staff, from receptionist to cleaner, that this hotel stands out for me.

"Great stay"
Caroline E, 22 Juin 2022

I have stayed here many times and have always been very pleased with the hotel. On this occasion my room was well appointed and very clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It's always very quiet and the food is good. Recommend staying here.

Hotel is slightly off the beaten track surrounded by houses,, well signposted coming in via Leslie Road, but not from the A92, Hotel is beautiful in its own grounds, peaceful. Sit out on the terrace after breakfast, evening meals book table

"Fabulous Hotel"
Journey41790844268, 14 Juin 2022

I stayed in one of the Garden bedrooms room 240 on Saturday evening. It was lovely with a fantastic view of the gardens. It even had patio doors leading to a little seating area. The bed was really comfy and the bathroom was brilliant too. I didn't have breakfast instead opting for an early swim when the pool opened at 8am. I had the pool to myself for the first 20 minutes which was a bonus. The changing rooms were fab too with amazing water pressure for the shower afterwards. I definitely intend to rebook on our next visit to Scotland!

"Tired hotel"
anonE4744GY, 01 Juin 2022

Be warned beds in family rooms (garden rooms) very uncomfortable soft old mattresses that slope towards the floor. Staff very friendly on the whole and room clean but terrible nights sleep and breakfast service very poor.

"Food was awful"
R7308ZHianh, 22 Mai 2022

This was our 2nd time staying here the last time was pre covid 2018 . We really enjoyed that so we decided to go back , that was a mistake. We was told dinner was fully booked until 8.30pm . Lucky we had pre booked it for 7pm . On our arrival they couldn't find our reservation but managed to fit us in to a half empty restaurant. We ordered our food and when it turned up was over cooked & burnt the beef burger was awful I've had better at Mac Donald's . French fries no actual chips option. We could have cooked better at home . We sent it back Very disappointed. Prosecco was well over priced @ almost £9 got a small bottle. Breakfast wasn't much better the plate was roasting hot & the food all dry must been left under a heat lamp . Hotel is in a lovely set out garden just a shame the food standards have let the whole experience down . We won't be back .

"Terrible Stay."
symonebalfour, 13 Mai 2022

I was part of a bridal party. I was bridesmaid, the way I was greeted at reception was actually very rude and unwelcoming. I stayed 2 nights at this hotel, the staff at reception were very unhelpful and continued to be rude to our party the whole stay. I was actually disgusted in how we were treated. Cleaners were also talking about our guests in the halls. It was the most disgusting behaviour I've ever experienced from any hotel. Will not be back!!

"Wedding Experience"
RoyDewar, 09 Mai 2022

My wife and I stayed at Balgeddie to attend a wedding. We had a great experience and highly recommend the hotel. The service overall was very good and the food was excellent. Our room was very good sized and very clean with good amenities. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of food and quick and friendly service.

"My sons wedding"
882shonam, 02 Mai 2022

My daughter grandson granddaughter my partner and I stayed for 2 nights for my sons wedding I booked a deluxe room as a treat which was £10 more a night than the standard room for my partner and I ...our room was disgusting in the bathroom beside the toilet there was splashes of urine on the wall the taps and towel rail had marks on them hadn't been cleaned properly the stainless steel bin looked like someone had spilled milk on it and it had dried on ...the carpet in the bedroom was filthy looked like it hadn't been hoovered and it had stains on it could do with a good shampooing which I don't think it has ever had.. down the side of the bed had a flap going over the base half of the covering looked like it had been scratched off it looked awful as a cleaner myself in a hotel if we left the rooms like that we would be sacked I thought they were maybe short of cleaners but there was about 5 of them going about...my daughter and granddaughter were in a room and my grandson was in another one their rooms were far bigger than ours and cleaner and they just had standard rooms there was nothing deluxe about ours ....couldn't fault the wedding or the food though it was lovely

"Great value place to chill out with great food and the comfiest enormous bed"
624stevieg, 25 Avril 2022

Stayed for two nights as we were attending a wedding at Balbirnie House Hotel (which has no pool unlike the Balgeddie House Hotel) :). We had a big spacious room and large bathroom with an excellent shower and we were well looked after. The owner never stops, is very interesting and always trying to make continuous improvements to the hotel. First morning we had a freshly cooked Scottish Breakfast (not a buffet style). We were fortunate to have good weather so after a later checkout deliberately missed breakfast on last day but took advantage of the lovely grounds, sat out with a drink on the terrace then went inside for a very tasty two course light lunch for only £11.50. Left mid afternoon and this hotel is just a short taxi ride from Glenrothes Bus Station.

"Relaxing weekend"

Relaxing spa weekend room so comfortable and clean and very good size our dinner was delicious I had the venison which.came with fresh veg , The staff are very helpful and polite and give a great service thank you all staff doing a great job.

"Outstanding!"
Maria M, 16 Avril 2022

Honestly can't fault this hotel! We stayed in the honeymoon suite which didn't cost much more than the other rooms. It is spacious, very clean with a lovely bath that fits two people and a big separate shower. There's a beautiful bay window with seats that let you see out over the huge garden at the back. All you hear all day is bird song, it's perfect. We were very impressed with the room. The over all hotel is traditional decor which is very fitting for the building and it has such a lovely relaxing atmosphere. We saw a mix of couples and families so definitely something for everyone. We used the spa facilities which are really good, you don't need to book in advance the pool is a good size and the sauna and steam room are super. Just remember to bring a £1 coin for the locker. We had dinner in the restaurant, food was excellent and reasonably priced. The room service (although we didn't use it but saw the menu) has great choice and is very well priced. Breakfast was delicious, it was busy but plenty of tables and staff handled it very well and were always someone on hand. Staff that we dealt with were all fantastic, I had to call a couple of times when booking the room about different things and they couldn't have been more helpful. Staff all around the building were very friendly and helpful, always with a smile. We were absolutely delighted to have found this gem, would highly recommend a visit and really looking forward to returning.

"3 night stay for work nearby"
KeanJules, 31 Mars 2022

Bed was very comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly. Food in restaurant is decent with good options. I didn't use the pool/spa facilities so can't comment on those. Nice sized bathroom and had everything I needed for my work trip. Shops nearby, most things I searched for were under 10 minute drive away.

"1 night stopover"
lindapH1289DB, 28 Mars 2022

Nice hotel, clean, comfy bed. Personally I think it was a bit overpriced for what it was, breakfast not included. Only had contact with the receptionist Sheona who was extremely pleasant. We were visiting friends who live in the area therefore we never made use of any of the facilities.

"Fantastic weekend"
Flipflop37, 06 Mars 2022

Just back from a 2 night break at balgeddie house and cannot fault it. Every member of staff was so cheerful and accommodating from the cleaners to the reception and bar restaurant team. Have to give Tracie the bar restaurant manager a special mention. She went out of her way to ensure we had a fab time. Food was amazing and very reasonable. Grounds were beautiful and the deer family obviously agreed. Was lovely watching them while we had brekkie.

"Mrs Martin"
hayleymartin22, 02 Mars 2022

Overall staff was fine, I wouldn't book this as a spa holiday, as there is no difference from my local leisure centre/ sports complex, asked for robes too be given one with a dirty face covering in the pocket and one with rolled up sleeves, also may I add in white laundry plastic bags, (used) in my eyes, handed this too receptionist and she didn't seem bothered by this situation. Just happy too take them back, other than that, would be fine for business needs not leisure

"Excellent Friendly Service"
AL5240, 07 Février 2022

Excellent Hotel. Check in was a pleasure where they took time to tell us all about the hotel, its facilities and the surrounding area. Room was warm, comfortable and clean, no issues. Bar and restaurant area was spotless and great welcoming service. Spa and, pool and gym area also excellent. All round a nice value for money hotel.

"Terrible experience! Do not recommend!"
Coco8867, 06 Février 2022

We arrived at the hotel as a family of 3 - our first trip away with our 5 month old baby daughter. On arriving at the hotel, we had good expectations. Grounds are lovely, in what seems to be quite an affluent residential area and the exterior of the hotel did look rather modern. When checking in, both members of staff were very friendly and attentive. The young girl who worked poolside and manager, Tracie. So far, so good! Tracie kindly informed us that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to the hotel's Honeymoon suite which we were very pleased about and as the staff were raving about this room, we thought we were in for a treat! As ost people know, travelling with a baby does not come lightly. With multiple bags, a case, carry cot, car seat etc, we were informed our room was upstairs but with no lift access. Nightmare! My husband had to attempt to make several trips upstairs with our belongings which was just an unnecessary inconvenience. In 2022, in today's society, where is the lift access?!?! On entering our room, we were greeted by one of the most unpleasant smells I have experienced. We were unsure how to describe the smell, however, it was a mixture of smelling damp, mouldy and like it hadn't been properly cleaned in several months. My husband and I did wonder if that is why we had been “upgraded” as the room didn't feel like it had been lived in, in months! although a very large size, the room was so dated - it was like stepping back into the 80s. Furniture was old and in need of being replaced, TV didn't work and then carpet was filthy. Overall, the place was just in need of a good scrubbing!!! I must say, the bathroom was big and very clean, however, running water was brown and disgusting. We filled the bath slightly and left it as to show just how filthy the water was. Bed was very comfortable and was fitted with clean, fresh sheets. We quickly got ready and headed down to use the leisure facilities. Leisure facilities were ok. We enjoyed spending some family time in the pool with our daughter, however, as this facility is open to the public, we did have a few “eyeballs” from some of the leisure members who were trying to swim lengths in the main pool as we were not the only young family in the pool at the time. Not ideal! My husband did point in some scum residue which had built up around the side of the pool. Fortunately, we did notice it had been cleaned the next day. Changing facilities could definitely have been cleaner. The floor was constantly covered in hairs and, yes this can't be helped, but not one cleaner was seen the whole time we were there using the facilities. This was quite worrying, especially during a National pandemic when hygiene and cleanliness is so important. At dinner time, we headed down to the Restaurant (if you could call it a restaurant), it is really just an old, dated room with some tables and chairs. Again, it was like stepping back in time to a hotel from 1980! Everything was so old fashioned, even the menu! My husband and I did have a joke that it was like staying in Fawlty Towers but, looking back, the sad reality is that this is what it was like! The restaurant and bar area had no atmosphere. No music, no television. We also noticed for families staying with slightly older children, there were no kids' facilities such as, games, vending machines etc. Just something you'd expect to see in this day and age. As I keep mentioning, this is 2022!!!! When ordering dinner, staff were ok but were acting at times as though everything was a problem. They really were not attentive at all. We had to seek a member of staff 3 times to order more drinks. My husband was deciding what to eat for his main and when asking the young waitress if the chilli was spicy, she sniggered and said, “well it is chilli.” For me, this was just down right cheeky from a member of staff to a guest of the hotel. Not to be mentioning condescending, leaving my husband a little embarrassed he'd asked! Dinner arrived and it was utterly pathetic. I have never experienced food like it. As a teacher myself, I can safely was like something out of the school canteen. I ordered Haddock and chips which was £14.95, fish had bones, accompanied by cold french fries (not even proper chips!) and a pathetic little side salad. My husband's chilli appeared to be just mince in some sort of jarred sauce. It was appalling and so overpriced for the substandard quality. Breakfast in the morning was no different. We were £24 for two full Scottish breakfasts and both were promptly sent back. Food was microwaved, swimming in oil and bacon was covered in fat. Staff were so inattentive, rude and had no work ethic. We noticed most, if not all, bar/restaurant staff are extremely young and seemed to care more about standing chatting than serving customers. We also noticed a couple of members of staff going out to enjoy the occasional cigarette outside!!!! We planned on pottering about for a while, however, after such a terrible experienced we decided to pack up sooner than expected. Starving after no breakfast, we found a lovely Harvester on our road home in Dunfermline. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, ESPECIALLY families. This hotel is old, tired and in need of a massive refurbishment if it wishes to survive and attract customers. It seems like the hotel has taken the hit with Covid but when re-opening has just picked up from where it left off with not a lick of paint, a hoover or a tidy. The whole hotel is musty, dirty and needs a good clean!!! We will not be returning and our trip was a complete waste of money. We will go elsewhere in future to find a modern, clean and enjoyable place to stay as a family as the Best Western, Glenrothes is not where you find that. Avoid this hotel!

"poor management and service"
scully2052016, 27 Janvier 2022

Booked for 2 nights with my hotel break and requested a room on ground floor or with lift access due to mobility issues, staff contacted my hotel break not myself and advised that if i wanted this request it would be treated as an upgrade and i would have to pay extra. On arrival i was told the same thing. So up and down stairs i had to go for 2 days and 2 nights which resulted in pain by the end of what was meant to be a relaxing break. The room we were allocated was small but comfortable and clean The leisure area was lovely We had dinner on the first night fish and chips which was inedible , items got taken of bill, staff apologised and offered coffee or dessert. Dinner on saturday was better. Our friends arrived for an overnight on saturday afternoon and when it was mentioned that her husband had a sore knee they were offered a room with lift access immediately with no extra payment requested. On checkout i was charged for my free wine with dinner and 2 sauces that i had not ordered although this was soon rectified. I put a complaint into head office with the promise that i would be contacted by the hotel to discuss my simple request regarding room but this did not materialise . I have stayed in several best western hotels with excellent customer service but this particular hotel lets the name down. I must add that the staff within the restaurant and bar area are very professional and welcoming

We were booked into a deluxe room, which was large with everything we needed. The bathroom was very big and had a bath with shower. The food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner with large portions.

"Excellent"
newmanmw20, 21 Janvier 2022

We wanted somewhere to stay near Glenrothes in Fife for three nights before attending a wedding in the area, and chose the Best Western Balgeddie House Hotel. We were not disappointed. It was excellent in all respects, with friendly and helpful staff, including at Reception, cleaning staff, servers in the restaurants etc. We had a spacious accessible room which included a large, well equipped shower area and comfortable king-size bed. There was ample room for my partner to manoeuvre her electric wheelchair. The restaurant served good food at dinner time, and my partner's requirements for gluten-free options were well catered for. There was a lovely, seasonal atmosphere, and we particularly appreciated the intimate ambience at the Balgeddie House. There is free on-site parking. Would recommend and return to without hesitation. A big well done to the owners, management and staff.

Decent hotel with nice rooms in a decent location. The waiting staff are clueless. Forgot to bring my coffee at breakfast so ended up having it afterwards. My evening meal was charged to my room so i paid for drinks at the bar and my meal at reception Don't seem to know what they are doing Food nice but small menu

"Another lovely stay at Balgeddie House"

We have stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions and will definitely return again. It is a pet friendly family run hotel with good leisure facilities and excellent food. We stay here and visit Fife's coastal villages and beaches with our dog.

"Warning. Think twice about going here for a meal on Xmas Day"
I4494TJstevens, 09 Janvier 2022

First of all, we have been to the Balgeddie House Hotel many times with friends and family. We had a birthday party for my elderly mother a few years ago in the Nairn suite. On all of these occasions, the food has been of a very high standard and certainly gave us no cause to complain. However, Xmas day 2021 was different; something had clearly gone wrong, as the food was well below what was expected. On our arrival at the Nairn suite, I opened the door and could not believe what I saw. There were approx 150 to 200 people sat at tables, which were all within close proximity of each other. The noise levels were so high that I had to speak directly into my wife's ear to communicate and she was sat right next to me. My 87 year old mother was sat diagonally across from me and tring to have a conversation was pointless. The management had obviously crammed in as many tables and people as possible before new covid restrictions came into force on Boxing Day. My mother was terrified and genuinely concerned for her health and wellbeing, especially since the new varient of Covid ( Omicron ) is highly transmissible. The Nairn suite that day reminded me of Xmas party nights I went to when I was in my twenties. There was nothing civilised about this venue. I you're looking for good food in quiet surroundings and want to converse with your family or friends then this isn't the place for you. To have this many people in a small enclosed space with a total lack of ventilation posed not only a serious risk of infection to customers but to their own staff. Maybe if I'd known we could have taken ear defenders and learned to lip read. But then there's the food...... Starter. Seasonal melon with Norwegian prawns. Some prawns on a plate with a dollop of what looked like mayonnaise spooned on top. The sauce was not nice. All I could taste was a strong taste of lemon and lime which had been added to it. More than a hint, I would say. Also on the plate were slices of melon and strawberry. They were all hard. This was the worst starter I've ever had in a restaurant, in my life. Traditional roast turkey. A big plate full of carrots is what my lasting memory of this dish will be. There wasn't any smashed potatoes but 3 roast potatoes which were all hard and tasteless. The turkey stuffing was disgusting. All in all, truely forgettable. Selection of cheese. At last some good news. The cheese and crackers were amazing. A few days later, I returned to the hotel and spoke with the duty manager (Martin) and voiced my concerns. On the issue of my safety concerns within the venue, he was right that the hotel had not broken the Law and they were following Scottish Government guidelines. However, I told him that with new, safer guidelines coming into force the following day, morally people should have been able to cancel, without any financial penalty. But why would they do that ? It's a business after all and as long as they're following the guidelines, everything is fine. This all reminded me of the Cheltenham festival. This went ahead the day before a National lockdown, as far as I can remember. And we all know what happened after that. On the matter of food, I expressed my disappointment and required and explanation. I don't know if it was due to a lack of staff in the kitchen or not providing the chef with enough money to produce better quality food. I asked the manager to get back to me within 7 days with an answer. I did not ask for a refund. Consequently, I've posted this review on TripAdvisor, which I told him I would do, if no reply was received. So 3 x £65 is £195. Basically I paid £195 for cheese and crackers. The Balgeddie House Hotel ruined our Xmas day. We, our family and friends will never set foot in this place again. Oh, and I've told my hairdresser.

"Perfect place to stay"

"Lovely friendly hotel"
jcmaclay1974, 29 Novembre 2021

A friendly and warm welcome continued throughout the stay. Rooms are clean and spacious, enough for a family of four to share. All the food was excellent. The evening food extremely well priced. The Gym is very well equipped best I've seen in this sized hotel. The pool is brilliant, the children spent hours in it.

"5* Hotel and staff"
Eve O, 19 Novembre 2021

The hotel and it's facilities deserve 5*, but the thing that makes this hotel even more special is it's staff. Alan and Aly are both wonderful and so accommodating, nothing is too much to ask. We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now and will be back in the near future. The breakfast choices are great and all food is fresh and served to order. The hotel is in a lovely location and very picturesque.

"Hidden gem worth a visit"
Jock501, 16 Octobre 2021

This is the first time I have been to Balgeddie House Hotel for a meal. We have been in the past for a wedding. My partner and I ate here last night. From arriving to leaving we weren't disappointed. On arrival we were met by friendly faces and taken straight to our table. the restaurant and a lovely ambience. We placed our drinks order then given time to look through the menu which had a great selection of meals to cater for all. My partner had the Scampi which was a generous portion lovely fresh fries and nice crisp salad. I had the chilli beef burger. Again, portion size was first class. the burger was juicy and tasty as was the Chilli on top. We both had desserts which were both very tasty too. After our meal we sat through in the lounge and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere with a couple more drinks. This little gem is hidden away with beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. Ideal venue for couples looking for a bit of alone time without the kids but also great for family's too. Thank you again for an amazing evening.

"Won't return"
738lyndseyh, 10 Octobre 2021

This was my second visit to the hotel I was last there in may with my son and husband. Decided to take my son away for the night as he has autism and liked the swimming pool there. Got there and given card for room. Climbs the two flights of stairs to the top (sadly now lift) which isn't the best for my son as he has an issue with both knees where they dislocate every time he walks so it was painful for him but the room itself was quite nice. Went swimming for about 90 mins as son loves the water and helps his knees. Get out and ask do we just come down to restaurant or book to be told it didn't open until 6 (this was 410 at this point) and I was shocked as it had been 4pm when we stayed prior so I took my son to Mcds as he was hungry. Later on I got room service which was nice. Wondered why I'd been sent up an extra plate of oatcakes and chutney as hadn't asked for them so just left them. Following morning our breakfast arrived at 9am (my son having autism he doesn't always cope in busier settings ans since it was just two of us we got it in our room). There was no milk for tea or the toast that was ordered. Breakfast was nice enough until I discovered a nice hair under the egg which put me off. Management refunded the breakfast no problem. So at 10 we went down the stairs to go swimming before checking out to be told no u can't go in theirs and aqua class on wtf why. It mention that to people when they book. I then had a very angry upset child on my hands who didn't understand why he wasn't allowed in the pool. He was so upset at the thought of climbing stairs again as his knees were sore. Anywya we went at 11 he has fun then we checked out. I paid the £28 that I was told I was due. Then left. I realised I'd only spent £15 the night before so why £28 so emailed them hotel to be told I'd been charged for the extra plate of food sent up that I didn't eat or ask for, that I'd been charge: £5 for my sons breakfast - he got two bits of bacon as he has multiple food allergies and was only thing he'd maybe eat (he didn't in end ear it) and I was shocked as when we were there prior I was told no charge for my sons bacon due to it being just 2 bits. I know it sounds petty but they added money to my bill for food I never asked for nor ate I won't ever return again I'd rather spend more and go to a hotel that had a wee bit more respect for their customers. Told them to keep their refund of the extra food!

"2 nights midweek, family reunion"
413angiep, 27 Septembre 2021

This is an old country house with a modern add-on wing. The old part of the house has no lift, but the new extension does. We had a double room with extra big bed in the new wing, with stunning view over gardens. No noise which was perfect. Check in / out straightforward. Added bonus of an onsite pool, sauna and steamroom open early till late which we used every day. Everthing was spotless. The staff were friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We ate two nights in the restaurant. There were two of us on the first night, and we found the portions a bit on the big side and took a long time to serve (the restaurant wasn't busy). However on the second night there were 8 of us - and it was perfect. We ordered while in the bar, so went to our table once the food was ready. Good size portions and between everyone in our group, we tried most menu options. Excellent service and value. We'd definitely go back

"Golf weekend"
Jane G, 24 Août 2021

We were looking for somewhere to stay close to the golf courses. Normally we stay at premier inn for good value but when we saw Balgeddie house hotel bed and breakfast price we thought it wasn't very much more than premier inn and we were getting breakfast included. Pleasantly surprised at the size of bedroom and bathroom. Very nicely decorated. The hotel is in very good decor and condition. There is a swimming pool and spa but we didn't make use of it.

"Overpriced"
Tadger D, 22 Août 2021

Staff were friendly, food was great, room was great but at £4.30 I expect a cold pint in a nice glass not lukewarm ale with the taste of the last drink still in the scabby tumbler. And the bar is too small.....

"disappointing"
KarenP2445, 11 Août 2021

My friend and I do a few overnight stays and we had booked this, our first since all this happened. Management were rude and dismissive in relation to our questions/requests. The room was classed as a twin, but in all reality it was a single. It was based in from all intent and purposes the attic, with Velux windows. . However the main issue in relation to the room was the wasps, on the walls and windows. We went down to ask if there was any more rooms he said no but would consult with his wife and ushered us quickly outside for a complimentary drink. On our way out he told his colleque that we "didn't like wasps" I appreciate we are in the height of summer but , still need to have windows open especially in such a tight confined space The other manager, his wife came out and said there were no other rooms apart from one next door, so we finished our complimentary drinks and went to look,, I obviously wrongly presumed it was the managers job to find and show us the room instead of the customer. Here we found much the same room ,but this time the windows were closed So we opened them as it was a very hot day . Within minutes they were in the room. We went back down again and got told they could offer us a fan. we asked again about the pool, as they said there was no availability even though restrictions got lifted here in Scotland on 9/8/21. She said they had decided to keep it going for one more week. The pool was empty but it was obvious they were keeping the main times for people locally who were members or whatever as on our way out after we decided to leave a wee bus arrived with local children , She said we would not get a refund and there was nothing more she could do . we then left. The whole experience of this day was quite exhausting, and even though they both said there was no more availability the booking .com app was still showing availability of different rooms even after we left I have given three stars for location, but if there hotel is not up to scratch then it makes a mockery of the location really

"Lovely food, clean pool and amazing friendly staff!"

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Balgeddie House Hotel. Friendly staff, clean swimming pool and excellent changing and showering facilities! Excellent food! A very good base to explore the East Neuk of Fife.

"Disappointing charge for last check out"
566Morgan, 24 Juillet 2021

We were very disappointed to be overcharged for a late check out when we believed we were booked for a further night. It was very upsetting for my grandson who just completed (for him) a major junior golf tournament. Not nice with no accommodation. I noticed none of the travelling parents stayed or recommended Best Western.

"Lovely hotel with friendly staff"

We stayed here for one night whilst touring Scotland on our motorbikes. The rooms and facilities are good and the staff are friendly. Parking is excellent and we felt our bikes were safe. The restaurant and breakfast food was very nice. I would recommend and I would stay here again.

"Very good until last night of stay98% nearly there"
Jock S, 17 Juillet 2021

My partner and i had a great stay at this idelic hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the manager went out of his way to make our stay a great experiance. There were little faults like the stairs leeding up to the upper rooms getting a deep clean and woodwork needs a polish. The food was great untill the last night's meal where i sufferd from a jiffy stomach on the trip home but the manager stepped in on our departure and waved the price of the offending meal which was a great guesture . A little bit training of the kitchen staff (cups could do with a good bleaching ) and servers and they would have gotten 100% Pool and gardens were great but weather was too hot to sit on the grass.16/07/2021

"Enjoyable stay"
pmcdade77, 13 Juillet 2021

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the garden family rooms. Big spacious room, which opened up on to the garden. There was also a patio area outside but we weren't able to use this as it was raining. We dined both night in the hotel. Hotel staff were very good and offer smaller portions to our children from the main menu s they are too big for the children's menu. Service was quick and food good. We were unable to use the swimming pool because it was fully booked so I would advise booking in advance of your stay. Staff did offer to put us on the waiting list for any cancellations though.

Rooms very big, bed comfy, could do with a lick of paint, bathroom large with a bath as well as shower, unfortunately the waste plugs could of done with a very good clean as water was very slow to drain away

"Decent friendly Hotel"
Will B, 23 Juin 2021

We recently spend an enjoyable 7 days at Balgeddie House Hotel. Its a really decent 3 star. Tidy, clean and friendly. Our room was a good size and very comfortable, overlooking the garden. Our daughters room, slightly larger as it happens, just as comfortable. Covid restrictions applied but not difficult to follow. Dinner was always really tasty, a decent menu with something for all ( the steak pie is a must, really tasty). Breakfast menu was limited. We were surprised that we weren't able to add beans or tomato to "poached eggs on toast", which was listed on menu, and no scrambled or boiled eggs on menu. Anyway, once we understood the rules all was well. An added bonus was to find Roe or Fallow dear ( not sure which) on bottom lawn each morning, a good photo opportunity. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will not hesitate to stay again.

"Meh. Came for the spa. Didn't even get that."
KcMc45, 21 Juin 2021

£99 for a one night stay with breakfast from booking.com. Hotel is behind a housing scheme. Photo deceiving but can be seen from rear of hotel. Check in receptionist not all too friendly. Booked this hotel for the spa. Got there and had to book a time. Could.only get 5.15. OK then. Off to the room for a couple hours to... watch TV. Not much else. We seen a couple with hotel towels which they deposited in a basket outside pool so assumed towels were there. Turned up at 5.15 to be looked up and down and told we weren't "pool ready". Well no. I don't often walk through hotel reception in my swimwear. He spotted the swimwear in my hand absent of a towel and never cracked a light. Went into pool area when we were then told and oh you need ro be dressed and out by 6 because we close. Fantastic. The small pool was lanes off. The lanes went straight through the jacuzzi indicating same was not on use. As everyone had to book im not sure what capacity they had but there were a few people in the pool and people coming in behind my husband and I. It's not a big pool. No clue where we were all to go. Got into changing room to see no towels. We would have needed to.jave brought our own. Fine. If someone had said. We decided not even to bother. Which is rather annoying as the whole reason this hotel was booked. Room ok. Could have had more tea and coffee facilities. Bathroom wasn't clean. Dust mounted on toilet roll holder Given the current climate this isn't really acceptable. Breakfast was in a cold function hall. No atmosphere. No friendly service. Just take it or leave it breakfast menu. Couldn't attract attention of staff for an orange juice past initial order. Wouldn't stay again.

"Decent Stay"
TammywBoston, 20 Juin 2021

Enjoyed our stay here and enjoyed the free swim for hotel guests even though a time slot had to be booked but that was fine. Breakfast was served in the function room and sadly lacked atmosphere, the staff apart from Ali (Alison) were not that friendly. Ali made up for them. Some low background music would help. Other guests have said the beds are not that comfortable but ours in room 202 was fine.

"Our wedding"
Jallantobe, 17 Juin 2021

We had an excellent experience with the hotel during our entire wedding process from booking through to the actual wedding. The staff were all excellent. It was value for money. The food was delicious (54 people catered for all received delicious hot food). The guests complemented the food. The grounds were perfect for our photos. Everybody went above and beyond for us and we are very grateful! Mr & Mrs Allan x

"Mediocre"
sdoyle2021, 13 Juin 2021

It was just nice for me and my partner to get away. The pool was very nice and clean. A little on the cold side but once your In not so bad. The room decor was very old, uneven carpets and dead flies around. Very outdated. The staff were so lovely though.

"Overnight break"

Very clean and warm hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool also clean but maybe could have been a bit warmer. Dinner in restaurant was very good. Breakfast was fine. Grounds and gardens made it feel as if you were in the countryside.

stewartandannalisa, 03 Février 2021

Great social distancing and one way route around hotel very clean room and bedding. I would have had the breakfast but was isolating as I was attending a funeral. Very nice looking gardens even in the cold weather. The room was warm and comfortable.

"Great Service. Lovely Hotel"
Golfingtravellers, 12 Janvier 2021

The owners and staff have worked extremely hard to ensure a comfortable and (in these strange times) a safe stay. Cleaning and all Covid-related protocols were faultless. We had a huge room over-looking the lawns and terrace. Food in the bar/restaurant was very good and sensibly-priced. Overall the hotel was very clean, quiet and excellent value. Recommended.

"Great welcome"
Target-61, 31 Octobre 2020

In the challenging current environment, the owners and staff did everything possible to make us feel welcome, safe and relaxed. Late arrival dealt with efficiently and quick room service. Thank you and good luck in the coming months.

Amazing service and everything I needed for our base on a family break. Although there was issues due to covid not to mention me having to change my dates twice due to lockdown, the team were so amazing and understanding.

"Superb Friendly Service"
GlasgowPoet, 10 Octobre 2020

Staff went out of their way to provide prompt friendly service. We visited with friends for a coffee and we had the fruit scones which were delicious. The waiter was lovely, and we felt that they appreciated us being there. Surroundings were clean, comfortable and we had a lovely window seat overlooking the gardens. Would highly recommend.

"2 day break "
BigMerk, 09 Septembre 2020

I visited here with 2 friends on our annual golfing break. The hotels in Glenrothes were so much better value than St Andrews. This hotel was one of the best-looking online and had good reviews hence we chose it. The setting is not quite as rural as the official photographs make it as the surrounding area has been heavily developed with housing over a number of years. But it's a good location within 5 minutes drive of Glenrothes town centre and about half an hour from St Andrews. Plenty of free parking, free and good quality WiFi, clean rooms and pleasant staff are all plus points. My room - 235 - overlooks the roof of the gym and therefore had no real view. It was large with a decent super king sized bed. The decor looked a bit dated but that was ok. The bathroom was quite small but definitely ok for single occupancy. One of my friends rooms - 234 - overlooked the impressive garden area but was a bit smaller. Good Covid measures in place and adhered to.

"Lovely stay again"
Phil_P_Danes, 07 Septembre 2020

I have stayed at this hotel for the last 3 years on a shooting break with friends, the hotel has always been friendly and good value. this time i stayed with my partner for 1 night during a trip around Scotland, they didn't disappoint! as always rooms are nice and clean, there is also a one-way system now to control social distancing, this seemed to work well. the hotel, the staff and the food were all excellent. im now looking forward to my next stay in January 2020 with friends.

"Overnight Stay"
998dib, 09 Août 2020

Stayed here July 2020 and arrived without prior booking. No problem booking a room and check in was effortless. The receptionist was helpful, friendly and could not do enough for us. We stayed in the Garden Rooms and the room was clean & spacious. It has its own patio doors leading in to a quiet & peaceful garden. What more can I say every need met and a relaxing peaceful sleep. We did not use any other facilities as we left early to get on our way to our next destination so I cannot comment further. The hotel was COVID safe and strict guidelines in place. Would I stay here again DEFINITELY ......

"Dinner and drinks"
Daisy5678, 02 Août 2020

We live within walking distance but hadn't ever eaten here so thought we would give it a try. Wanted to offer our custom to a local business as we feel it's important to support them. We had a drink in the garden before dinner which was nice and relaxing. The garden is very private and south facing and has a large lawn. So much more could be made of the garden. With work and new plants it could be made really beautiful, the management are definitely missing a trick here. Dinner was in the dining room, we could have eaten outside if we wished. The menu wasn't huge but that's probably the same in lots of places just now. The food was nice and well presented. Pretty standard fayre, not some where I would recommend for a special occasion but okay if you don't fancy cooking. The staff were all very pleasant and attentive enough. The main shame for this hotel are the missed opportunities. It's a lovely big old house in very nice surroundings with a spa and gym. With some updating and good marketing this place could be a real go to for coffee & cake, lunch and dinner. With so few places in the area it could be a gold mine and become a great meeting place for locals and residents. We will visit again because it's so handy but would love to see improvements which would be a massive asset to the hotel and its customers.

"Poorly managed establishment"
catUKUk, 23 Juillet 2020

i stayed three nights with my dog. At arrival, i was welcomed by an over-stressed proprietor. This was 3 days after the hotel re-opened after closure due to the Coronavirus. During my stay, i noted a catalog of situations which were symptomatic of poor management. My room window could only be opened wide or not at all. The television was not channel-tuned and the remote control was not working properly. The bar & restaurant staff were inattentive to the guests and too busy talking to each other. Staff congregated by the exit doors to smoke their cigarettes. The one-way system in place was not respected by member of staff and by guests of the hotel. Over-flowing bin by the reception door of the hotel. Morning delivery lorry sitting under my room window with the engine running for 35 minutes. At check-out time, i was presented with a £61 restaurant bill which was charged to my room by another guest. i had to show my restaurant receipts to prove the £61 was not mine. Staff did not check the guest's identity against their room key before crediting the room. However, the bed in room 209 was very comfortable and the food i ordered (Cullen Skink, Black Pudding starter & Fishcakes) was excellent. Overall, Balgeddie House Hotel is a poorly managed establishment with no class to speak off.

"Bad management"
lynnsweeney1971, 01 Mars 2020

Stayed I night in the hotel. Room was cold and had a damp smell our room was not the only room that was cold.. Manager asked 3 times to address the situation and nothing was done. When arrived we went to bar for a drink and was told to go across the road to the other bar in the function. In the function no drink at the bar was being served as it was taking all staff to prepare the toast which was wrong on a number of times. Dinner was excellent no faults nice and hot and fresh when served as I was last to be served.. Dinner was 1 hour late but I think this was to do with the in experience staff on the bar. Manager was in the function and had to be asked about the wine everyone was to have the other half of the hall had finished their dinner by this time. One soup was ordered for a very ill lady at £15.95 and they never gave her it. Residents went to the bar after function and it was closed.. Opened it but was very hosti about it and made you feel an inconvenience. Breakfast again food was lovely no fault there. Receptionist was lovely on booking in and out. I would not stay again or have a function in this hotel.. Might go for food in the bar. Managment really bad not interested in your complaints just wants your money, shame as could be a good place all round.

"Excellent!"

"Fabulous overnighter"
JohnHome, 24 Janvier 2020

We stayed one night with our dog. The hotel is beautiful in lovely surroundings. Our dog was in heaven and made to feel very welcome. Lovely warm room. Great bathroom with a fabulous bath. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and an evening meal. Our meal was excellent - highly recommend the Cullen Skink. Good portions of well prepared food. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. Love to come again, I felt I had had a holiday.

"Okay"
anon2152018, 09 Janvier 2020

You eat in the restaurant but it's a bar food menu. The highland venison steak is actually a kind of stew.Vegetarians are very poorly catered for, disappointingly. Rooms were clean though and staff pleasant. Pool was good and good changing room facilities. Lovely grounds and it was nice to see the deer in the morning. Breakfast was average.

Our 4th annual visit to Balgeddie House. As it has been every year, a fantastic experience, the breakfast and evening meals are of excellent quality and served in a timely manner. Ang, Katie, Ellie and Steven were all brilliant, a real asset to your business. All Other staff, were good, I name the above as we had most contact with them. The hotel is warm, clean and well equipped. As every other visit I would highly recommend the hotel

"Best hotel value hotel in the Glenrothes area."
HarboroughCouple, 30 Décembre 2019

Great hotel. Good gym and nice pool / spa. Deluxe rooms spacious and clean. Bar has great selection of whiskey. Lots of car parking spaces at the hotel. Helpful and courteous staff. We stay here regularly when visiting family. We don't use the restaurant as we breakfast and dine with our family so can't comment on the food / service.

"Christmas dinner"
alisonlearmonth, 27 Décembre 2019

So christmas dinner was £60 per head , it was the worst xmas dinner ever , the starter of pate was dry and the smallest portion I've ever seen in my life , it was about the same size as an after eight... The main course was Turkey with all the trimmings , I think it was last years Turkey as it was dry and bland .for £60 , I think I'd of paid £10 , so in summary out of 3 people at he table only one person ate , a waste of time and money and the wait between courses was horrendous ...will definitely be cooking myself next year or will visit KFC which would be slightly better

"Very, very average"
Howie922, 27 Novembre 2019

From the moment I went to check in the hotel service was appalling. Receptionist was slow and inefficient, though eventually she got some help. Never been in queue of so many people when checking in! Room was a good size and had all facilities that you needed. Shame the room was so cold. No idea what time they turn the heating on but by 8.30 am the radiators were getting cold. Dinner menu was incredibly uninspiring and un-original. Hard for me to find something to eat. When the meal arrived it felt like I had been served a ready meal that was heated up in the microwave. Breakfast was better but only just wanted poached eggs on toast and was told I had to make my own toast. Waiting staff have no idea what or why you order that. The grounds seemed quite good but no chance to appreciate them, difficult on a cold and wet November evening. Could not recommend this hotel and not likely to stay again. Only stayed there as a colleague booked it and he wasn't impressed either, was a random selection.

"Business Trip- great location"
Iris B, 24 Novembre 2019

The best thing about the Balgeddie House Hotel for me, was the location. The next best thing is the staff- they were great. Pros- The warm was as warm as you wanted it to be - but the bathroom was cold. Has a pool and a work out room. Ample hangers, cute look, good food, ample hangers and towels (but you had to ask for washcloths). Cons- the rooms in the old section don't have elevator access and the lighting isn't great. No dining options nearby except one. No USB only ports. Tips- ask for a room in the new section and a breakfast included rate

"Thoroughly recommended"

A lovely short stay/weekend. Very relaxing. Really lovely room, nice 'n' cosy, lovely view, cumfy bed. Whole hotel nicely maintained & clean. Great food & friendly staff. I'd a very happy husband when he got his fav. Beer on tap!!

"THE WORDS OF GRATITUDE"
Inspiration670560, 16 Novembre 2019

Our group of teachers and schoolchildren spent four astonishing days in Best Western Balgeddie House Hotel in July. We were looking for a quiet peaceful eco place not far from Edinburgh and our dreams came true. It's the best place we've ever been to. Everything was beyond all praise: comfortable rooms, freshly cooked breakfast, Spa with a great variety of the facilities. Our children were so happy to watch deer, foxes and hares right near the hotel. After a long day of excursions they enjoyed splashing in the pool and playing on the amazing lawn. Even adults could relax and forget their everyday duties. We highly appreciate friendly attitude and positivity of the staff. We'd like to express our special THANKS to Jamie, our Manager. He tried to do his best to make our stay unforgettable. It was really a pleasant stay in a wonderful place. We would highly recommend this place for those who want to have nice holidays in a family atmosphere of the hotel in nature.

"Date night"
Leslie T, 11 Novembre 2019

The staff were very efficient all very attentive. The price for the food was on average about £15 for a main meal I think considering the surroundings the presentation of food wasn't as high a quality as it could of been. With the prices though the food was good. I would definitely go again

"Overnight stay for myself and my daughter"
nyah1uk, 05 Novembre 2019

The pool was lovely the lighting was very calming! The dinner was very nice, hot and plenty full, however quite basic pub food served fancy. Room was clean but quite cramped and slightly dated, although bathroom was huge! Staff were very very good! Exceptionally attentive especially the restaurant service. Good value for money al round.

"Fabulous hotel"
Margo H, 28 Octobre 2019

Loved our stay here. Easy check in with friendly staff. Choice of lift or stairs, the lift was large enough for 4 and luggage. Room was beautiful, tea & coffee facilities and a huge comfortable bed! Everything was spotless. The bathroom had a shower over the bath, soap and slip mat were also provided. We enjoyed a drink at the bar which wasn't enormous but cosy and friendly and there was a large lounge just beside it. The dining room was warm and inviting with views over the garden and as it got dark the lights outside came on which was lovely. The food was delicious. We had starters and mains sadly we were too full to have dessert but there was a lovely selection. We will certainly be back to BW Balgeddie House. It was fabulous.

Firstly this review is 100%genuine and just my opinion. Have stayed here recently and have enjoyed my stay. It is a nice country house with a homely feel and the staff were excellent as was the room. I enjoyed every meal I had here and commend the chef and restaurant staff for their excellent attentive service. The swimming pool area and sauna is great and spotlessly clean and great to relax after a days work. A special mention to Kelly and her sparkly nails who was A delight.I would not hesitate to return.Well done.

The room was very nice, clean and mostly quiet. Good choice for breakfast and the service was quick. The fitness was very good with modern equipment and the pool looked good. If you want to stay in an old manor house, this is a good choice.

Stayed here for two nights at begining of October due to work in the area. Friendly staff on reception very helpful. Great clean comfortable bedroom with kingsize bed and ensuite with over bath shower. Friendly staff in the bar and restaurant. nothing was a problem. Needed breakfast when they opened as I had to leave early so staff took breakfast order night before so it would be ready for me to come down to. Plenty of choice. Evening meal was good. Has a pool, saun and steam room. Excelent for a nice relax after a hard days work.

"Excellent Meal, fabulous service"

Dining only...Birthday meal for 4 people we all had lovely meals..value for money...well presented and an attentive waiter. Good choice on menu I'd describe it as good pub grub. The dining room overlooked a large well kept lawn where we were kept amused by the Automatic robo lawn trimmer!! had a lovely walk in gardens afterward.

The hotel is a lovely building in a quiet location. Because I have osteo arthritis I was given a room near the lift and in fact it turned out to be a room for disabled travellers which was lovely. Looking out over the back garden I watched one of those solar powered machines that go backwards, forwards and sideways "mowing" the lawn. Mesmeric. It was even going the next morning making patterns on the large lawn after the rain. There was a problem when we booked in having asked for twin beds and sheets and blankets, confirmed as no problem before we left home. This was quickly put right and we sat in the bar with a complimentary drink while they sorted the room out. Dinner was slightly disorganised. We had been given a letter saying we could spend £25pp on the meal. We were given a large menu, decided what to have and then suddenly the waitress whisked them away and handed us a small menu because we "were on a dinner bed and breakfast basis". We pointed out the letter and said we didn't inderstand whereupon the manager came along and said there were several dinner plans and handed us the original menus. Not very professional and perhaps this needs sorting out. The meal portions were huge (too big for both of us) But nicely cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast too. All the staff were good. Plenty of parking and of course wifi. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

"Good value"
Navigator372285, 23 Juillet 2019

The hotel is a fine looking house with a beautiful garden. They have added a more modern extension with a pool and gym and some new rooms but if you want a stately home stay in the original house. Of course floors may be squeaky but better views. Go for bed and breakfast package it's a good deal. Pool, sauna and steam sauna are great to relax in and often very quiet. Food is good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is within easy walking access to the Lomond Regional Park and the Lomond hills.

"Food Does Not Match Hotel"
JohnMcCook, 17 Juillet 2019

I had stayed here about 5 years ago with very memories of the food and accommodation. On this occasion I was here on business for 2 nights. The accommodation and front of house staff were excellent, friendly and very accommodating. The food however was very poor, below standard pub food, far from what I remembered. The steak I had on the second night was accompanied by some poor mushrooms that looked like they had been cooked in a deep fat frier and the breaded haddock on the first night was dry and not very pleasant! Also the hotel is missing a trick in not having any local ales or craft beers available. Lots of great scottish breweries without having to sell Carling and greene king bottled beers.

"Children & disability friendly experience."
G7864AAsheilah, 13 Juillet 2019

Hotel staff sent a courtesy email when I booked online via booking.com, I informed them that I'm disabled & will require accessible accommodation. They were most helpful & in advance let me know that I'd be given one of their garden rooms. There was a slight issue with the booking, not due to them however, due to booking.com not informing them that I had booked for myself & 2 children. But it wasn't a problem as the hotel were putting us in a family room anyway, I think that booking.com needs to sort out things their end as information isn't being passed to the hoteliers. Myself & my children thoroughly enjoyed our short break at Balgeddie House Hotel, not only are the surroundings beautiful but the facilities & the staff were excellent too. We used the restaurant & the pool daily, enjoyable each time, the locals who use these were friendly & welcoming. Indeed we chatted away with staff & locals - it's a really family friendly type place to visit. The beds were comfy & in fact I slept in one morning & missed breakfast as I was that cosy. The food portions in the restaurant are large, I tried various meals & each was very tasty, the children's menu suited my twins & they even tried the odd thing off of my plate. Some staff were completely switched on to making sure our needs were met, you could tell they've lots of experience in hospitality & some you could tell had less experience - but this didn't detract from our experience & just reminded me how hard working in hospitality can be at times. Overall the hotel, the facilities, the food & staff were of a high standard. I would highly recommend Balgeddie House Hotel to others, indeed my children & I look forward to visiting there again soon.

"Scotland road trip - RESTAURANT"

Restaurant:- We were seated in the cocktail lounge as we had the dog with us, else we would have been in the actual restaurant. But we ordered from the same menu in restaurant. we were very well looked after where we were, a little more so as we were outside the restaurant. Ordered starters & main, but after the great quality we went on to order the pud as well. Food was posh style restaurant, large plates and small portions BUT the quality just oozed through. Great food, service and in style too.

45 of us stayed here for several nights in June whilst attending a local wedding. The hotel was very comfortable and the facilities great. Our rooms were spacious and very clean and most had beautiful views of the gardens. On top of that the service we received from Alyson and her team was second to none. From start to finish they were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble (special thanks to Deni, Sarah, Martin, Edward and Oliver). Our heartfelt thanks Alyson – you and your team made a wonderful weekend even more special!!

From the very first phone call I made to enquire about staying there I must say I never was treated before with such friendliness. Martin,Alyson,Sarah anyone I had to deal with as indeed all the workers in the hotel were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us .The hotel looks out on beautiful gardens and sometimes you could even see Deer in them .The food was beautiful and fresh and very tasty. None of the 16 of us could find any fault with this hotel and the pool and gym were great as well. Would definitely love to stay here again .

Long weekend for some R&R. Worked perfectly! Room was a good size, clean and pet friendly. Hot breakfast was cooked to order so fresh. Gym, pool and spa all in good condition and ready to use early in the morning. Added bonus - looked out onto the garden where we saw deer grazing each morning. Don't be put off by the residential area.

Karl J, 09 Juin 2019

I was here for a family party. My room was located in the old wing and I found the room rather small and stuffy, despite having the window open all night the room was still overly hot despite no heating being on. The room doors were very noisy and slammed rather than closed quietly. On the plus side the staff are friendly and the food is excellent. Would I stay here again, yes but would ask for a room in the new wing. There is an elevator but it only serves the new wing. One thing i noticed as I was seated in the dining room was a cobweb on the window frame so the cleaning staff are less than thorough!

"Overnight stay in Glenrothes "

Working in Glenrothes and needed a hotel for an overnight stay. Chose this hotel as it was close and was a great price for bed and breakfast. It's even had a poll and spa, although didn't have much time for leisure. Was greeted by lovely staff, large free parking area. Hotel was very impressive outside but just as impressive inside with wide grand staircase and large spacious bedrooms. I must if had a queen size bed with a proper bath. Top floor with 2 windows, one was a tilted skylight. Usual room compliments but with shortbread biscuits, nice touch. Large TV and nicely furnished. Wifi was ok but was not super fast as it says. I had a great nice sleep in my super large bed and breakfast in the morning was served by friendly staff. Only thing I didn't like at breakfast was the haggis, just didn't do it for me lol Great stay thanks

"Great hotel"
suffolksheep, 04 Juin 2019

Group visit staying 2 nights Great situation. Rooms large, very clean, food very good, possibly best cooked breakfast I have ever had at an hotel. Staff superb, Alyson & her team could not have been more helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend & hope to stay again soon

"I would be happy to stay here again"
Richard H, 31 Mai 2019

My room was fine - the bed was huge. The meals I had were very good. The swimming pool and sauna were both welcome and really clean. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. If I'm staying in Glenrothes again this will be the first hotel I will check to see if a room is available.

"Quality Stay."
Ian B, 30 Mai 2019

What a great nights stay at the Best Western, Balgeddie, but then again, we always do at any Best Western we have stayed at to date. Staff were friendly, Reception Staff were great, Bar staff Good, Waiter and waitress on the night of our stay were excellent, taking into account that one of our party was Gluten Intolerant…. Restaurant was very good, food was impeccable. Other good things were the Rooms, great size, massive bed and comfy too, Spa, Fitness Room and swimming pool. Everything you need for a relaxing stay.

"What a find!!! everything you could possibly desire from a hotel."
DebraG_12, 28 Mai 2019

From the time we walked in the door to a warm welcome from Allison to the time that we left it was brilliant. beautiful gardens lovely staff, great atmosphere, gym and swimming pool, fabulous building, had a great nights sleep in a really comfy bed, fluffy towels very clean, clean linen, loved the dinner and breakfast. Big thanks to everyone who works in this hotel it was a pleasure to visit.

"Outstanding service and hospitality"
KeithMcManchester, 27 Mai 2019

Stayed the one night booked by my secretary for the area on her recommendation, Absolutely fantastic hospitality meals and pet friendly. Had an issue with the room for a single person felt quite claustrophobic, but for me the pillows are a no-no quite stiff and made me sweat, had to remove them and use duvet for pillow it was quite warm for a small room. ensuite bathroom felt bigger than the room, The breakfast was something else, best i have enjoyed in my travels to the borders and beyond, the Haggis Breakfast was unbelievable, to much food on the plate, my little dog Charlie enjoyed his breakfast of Sausage and Bacon. Would I stay again. No Brianer Back in a couple of weeks. and looking forward to it, also a nice area for walks and certainly one of the best pet friendly hotels I have come across

"Friendly, comfortable and relaxing location"
Roybos69, 23 Mai 2019

Friendly Staff, lovely and comfortable room. Great bed and wonderfull peaceful surroundings. Loads of free parking space available. Very tasty breakfast with friendly service. Most important (for my wife) close to Falkland :-) Only trick was actually finding the hotel as I was searching for a Best Western Logo and there is none..

"Great value for money"
Chrismacewan80, 13 Mai 2019

Three years ago, we visited the Best Western Balgeddie House and had always meant to go back - which we finally did this weekend. I doubt it will be as long as 3 years before we're back again. There is a lot to like about this hotel, rooms are spacious (we had a second floor room with skylights giving us a view over the grounds); the beds are big and comfy; the grounds and garden are lovely (helped by the new addition of a robot-lawnmower, which was the subject of much discussion around the bar) We were on Room Only and didn't stay for breakfast, but we dined in the hotel restaurant at night which was very tasty and good value for money. Both times we have been the bar has been bustling with people - there seem to be a good crowd of locals who are regulars there and who happily chat to hotel guests For the price we paid, I really don't think we could have got a better value hotel.

"Absolutely wonderful hotel!"
Tracey W, 28 Avril 2019

We stayed here for 3 nights a first time visit. Would highly recommend this beautiful hotel. Our room was so lovely we slept like logs! Very attentive staff at breakfast. Loved the pool. The hotel has a lovely peaceful atmosphere.

"A good hotel for a stopover."
philips651, 21 Avril 2019

Nearly everything went smoothly. Check-in was fine, meals and bar service was fine. Our room was up in the attic, which means a lot of stairs. Had we known then we would have accepted the offer of help with luggage. There is no lift. Dinner and breakfast went well. Check-out was complicated by paperwork that needed to be sorted out, and a member of staff fetched. Not a real problem, just not slick. Would I stay again - only if I was not in an attic room.

Was there for a wedding great place to stay first class service food was fab rooms are great great views of garden plenty parking spaces will stay there again and recommend it easy hotel to get to from all areas

"Very nice"
pennycarr46, 14 Avril 2019

We were here to help a special couple celebrate their wedding, it was very pleasant and the decoration very pleasing to the eye. It's not a huge place but was enough for the guests that were there. The buffet was very nice as well.

"scottish fling"
300bells, 12 Avril 2019

go around to the rear of the hotel, walk in the grounds. you will see a different perspective. beautifully kept and maintained. in the middle of a housing estate but you wouldnt really think so! spa amazing. especially the steam room. breakfast amazing. enjoy the haddock soup in the evening - brilliant. lovely staff. what else would you want?

"Good Stay at Balgeddie House"
Amanda D, 28 Mars 2019

Had an overnight stay here and and was given a superior double room which was large and very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spotless. We had full use of the pool and leisure facilities. A member of staff from the leisure facility advised us that we could have use of the pool etc after check out up until 5pm. This was not mentioned to us upon check in, I think that this should be mentioned to all guests when checking in. The breakfast was good, a varied variety too choose from. We also decided to have lunch before we left in which I would highly recommend for the price. The kids menu was also good for the price. Free parking also.I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back.

"Nice stay at Balgeddie House Hotel"
amy_d86, 18 Mars 2019

Very decent hotel, the room (superior) was large and the bed was very comfortable. All the staff were really helpful and they managed to give us an early check in which was great as we were going to a wedding

"Balgeddie House Hotel - Fab!"
Karen M, 18 Mars 2019

If you are looking for a wee chill time in a lovely hotel in Fife look no further than here. Good old fashioned hospitality at its best. Cosy hotel, fab location, spotless, good food, great staff and super comfy bed x great room for the dogs as well x thank you.

"Great one!"
Pioneer774900, 15 Mars 2019

Very nice place for you and your dog. Nice, clean steam room, sauna and pool. Spacious room, fast internet, TV. Restaurant served delicious food. Free parking. Welcoming and friendly staff. Good value for money.

"Good times in Balgeddie"
Cruiser27939670060, 10 Mars 2019

Having been recommended this hotel by a colleague I was expecting good things and I was not disappointed, I will be teturning here next time I have need of a comfortable and relaxing stay in this part of the country.

"Great stay"
Squawking44, 26 Février 2019

I stayed here whilst working in the area, lovely quiet location with plenty of parking. My room was very clean and comfortable. Nice pool and leisure area. I ate in the restaurant and all was very nice. Definitely recommend

"Good spot for Fife and surrounding area. "
Holmezzi, 17 Février 2019

Stayed for one night on business whilst visiting a client based in Fife. Check in was quick and easy, and reception kindly upgraded my room to a deluxe. Plenty of Parking which is free of charge (as is the WiFi). The room wasn't modern but was large, bed was comfy and was clean. The hotel has a gym and swimming pool along with sauna and steam room, so good facilities as well. Eat at the restaurant, had The venison steak with veg and a drink, didn't come to more than £20.00. Also had breakfast in the hotel which was extra, but was all nice. Would happily stay again (and will be doing in a couple of months).

"Family Room"
Greg C, 12 Février 2019

Clean hotel, we had a nice big room for the family. Pool and gym facilities really good however, breakfast wasn't the best. Receptionist was helpful along with the other staff around the premises. Parking was ample as well

"sunday dinner"
Shonagh1, 06 Janvier 2019

family sunday dinner, very pleasant relaxed surroundings in the Brasserie restaurant, we were a party of 7 and it did take a long time for the food to arrive despite only a couple of other diners. steaks reportedly very good as was the salmon. The Thai curry did not taste like a thai curry at all with a very sharp, strong indian like flavour. Sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake both given seal of approval.

"Excellent "
Maggie M, 02 Janvier 2019

Just recovering from a brilliant New Year's eve party. Everything was perfect, the band were amazing, the food was great and the staff were friendly and nothing too much trouble. We danced all night even my 86 year old mum was up dancing. We arrived to a warm welcome in the afternoon with our wee dog and they gave us a bag of treats for him which I thought was a lovely touch. Our rooms were spotlessly clean with a really comfortable bed and great views of the garden at the rear. We went down to the bar for a snack and a couple of drinks again friendly service from Jim, nice fresh sandwiches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay breakfast was good and hot . Thanks Alan and all the staff behind the scenes for making it such a great experience. We would highly recommend it and we will be coming back for more.

"Great return visit"
Michael K, 29 Décembre 2018

We had our wedding here in 2010 but due to adverse weather extension was delayed however this did not dampen our big day. We decided on a return visit as we were keen for our daughter to use the pool. We were not disappointed as it was excellent and like before staff were very good. Room was at back in nairn suite and was perfect. We had dinner bed and breakfast booked and I made mistake of not checking how it worked and it cost us for our daughter on 1st night so maybe that was the only downside. Food was plentiful and very nice and nice vibe in bar and restaurant. Pool facilities great and we made good use of spa and steam room. Nice to reminisce and we will definitely return for another visit.

"Out for our Daughters Birthday."
tcorleone4, 17 Décembre 2018

We went out to celebrate our daughters birthday, As she had her wedding here 5 years ago. There were 6 Adults and 2 Children in our party. I did find the prices were higher on average than other hotels in the area. We did think 13.50p for a Burger and Haggis with Chips and Salad was rather expensive. However there were some good points during the visit, The service was good on both the food and drinks. Also our 2 grandchildren did get shown by the 2 ladies who were around the pool area.

"Good business stay -- spacious rooms"
TooMuchtoDo1, 16 Décembre 2018

Stayed here on business and enjoyed it. Large bed and a quite spacious room. A colleague ended up with a room that had a fire place, but I wasn't so lucky. If breakfast isn't included in your rate, you can get vouchers at the reception for either continental or hot breakfast. Also ate dinner at the hotel a couple nights and it was pretty good. Adequate parking and a nice lawn / garden on one side of the main building. Oh, if you don't like all in one soap, you should bring some conditioner.

"Business stay...."
Al_enoo, 15 Décembre 2018

Fine stay in hotel for business trip in the area. Breakfast always good, staff helpful, prices commensurate with standard of Accomodation. The porridge is great; the full breakfast is awesome too......

"Very poor venue"
Tessie07, 08 Décembre 2018

The room was a good size but we had to ask for more tea, coffee and milk every break. Lunch on the first day was sparse, you get 4 quarter sandwiches each. Second some soup appeared. The sound system does not work well as it had a loose wire. Such a shame as there are very few businesses facilities in the area and this could be a gold mine.

"As expected"
289jimf, 26 Novembre 2018

This is a good quality hotel with great gym and swimming facilities. Rooms are a good size, warm and clean. The menu for dinner is a tad limited but ok but you can always nip into town and eat some curry.

"Good, comfortable, but a bit dated"
OssianLtd, 16 Novembre 2018

Stayed for the week and had a comfortable stay. No room upgrade (I am a top tier member, so should be offered one, or at least explained why I cannot) and had a top floor room - comfortable, but the décor was rather dated and the shower a bit primitive. The windows (skylights) would not lock open, so ventilation was a bit poor. Breakfast was good, and the 2 nights I had dinner were excellent - a venison dish to die for! There was a massive selection of whiskeys behind the bar - unfortunately I wasn't really able to sample them properly! Staff service was excellent.

"Quite nice."
RugbyBobby123, 15 Novembre 2018

Just had a 2 night stop at the Balgeddie. I chose a single room with a low price but would have preferred a double room, none available unfortunately. My room was on the top floor and quite small but fine if you're on a budget. I ate in the restaurant both nights and the food is lovely, my only complaint is that the restaurant was uncomfortably hot and a bit boring. But the food is good!

"great facilities for leisure"
Ronnieduke, 13 Novembre 2018

The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff are very helpful , There was a wedding on during our stay which made it a bit busier but we made great use of the spa facilities which were reasonably quiet for a weekend ,We had a room at the front which looked over the lovely garden and lawn. i would recommend if looking for a nice relaxing break

"An autumn wedding "
lynneadamson, 04 Novembre 2018

my partner and I stayed at this hotel whilst attending a family wedding. This was our second visit to the hotel and it was even better than the last visit. The room was lovely. The staff were all excellent especially Allison from reception, nothing is too much trouble. We will most certainly be back

"Fantastic place to stay."
Tamannmilo, 27 Octobre 2018

We used Balgeddie as a base for a weeks wandering in the area. As always, the place was fantastic and the food excellent. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the facilities were all very well looked after - spotless, very comfy and roomy suite. All leisure facilities are very well maintained and my son and I thoroughly enjoyed several dips in the lovely pool. Keep it up and many thanks to all - Highly recommend.

Top class hotel .staff at the hotel are excellent and very helpful and friendly could not fault anything dinner was superb never seen so much scampi on a plate. Wedding meal was super thank you for everything

"Very nice welcom -lovely stay"
amanda h, 18 Octobre 2018

I stayed here whilst working away. Found my room very clean and comfortable with a good selection of quality drinks in the room- the evening meal was very good and the breakfast wasn't half as good tho if your having continental one,no fruit was available -I had stayed in a premier inn a few days before and it was far superior. There's definitely some ghost or something in that building but I wouldn't let that put you off! Definitely good value for money!

"Warmest welcome"
watchout123, 03 Octobre 2018

After a week of touring we arrived for our last night at BEST WESTERN BARGEDDIE. We had read the reviews and we were not disappointed - from the moment we stepped into reception the owners went out of their way to make us welcome. A beautiful garden view room & the added bonus of the swimming pool area Just perfect for a very relaxing last night before we headed home. Thank you - we would love to come back

"Makes Travelodge look like a Tent !!"
John M, 11 Septembre 2018

Stayed there on the way to and way back from the North of Scotland. First timers and basically blown away. CHEAPER than any nearby Travelodge etc. Dog was a £10 fee and allowed to go almost everywhere. Rooms were large and spacious - en-suite well above average - gym, pool, sauna and steam room all free and very clean and accessible - gardens were superb - great full Scottish breakfast - bar was ample but all staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be staying again

"Great sta"
crazyjas, 03 Septembre 2018

This is a nice hotel, lovely location, the breakfast was very good ,plenty of choice. All the staff were very helpful , although we were in the attic rooms ,they were fine it made for them being quite.

"A bit of a hidden gem."
rebrgbbus, 20 Août 2018

Set in the unlikely location of a suburban housing estate this hotel is a bit of a gem. Very friendly staff, good rooms and they even provided some treats for our dog. Great to find a dog-friendly hotel which is clean, bright and welcoming. Very quiet location and comfey bed meant a good nights sleep. Also able to open the windows wide as I like a cool room and fresh air. All in all - excellent.

"Nice stay"
Lola L, 20 Août 2018

On arrival we we're greeted warmly and asked to pay for the room up front.mmmmm then went to our room and were disappointed by the view of carpark. The room we were appointed On arrival greeted warmly and asked to pay for the room up front. Our Room was in the new build and was massive. We went for drinks and asked for a room move which was delt with promptly and we soon settled into a room with a garden view in the old house which had a much better feel and view. We then went for a swim and the sauna was great as you could put water on it and make it really hot, which I like. Great way to relax and the facilities were Fab. Although no jacuzzi would have been a nice touch. For dinner we went to dining room and the starters were top class, the black pudding tart was really good. The salmon was beautiful aside for no lemon to squeeze on your salmon or butter for your bread. Main course was great if not to big for me I had the red Thai curry which was tasty and as the waiter took it away mentioned then I could have small portion, this would have been good to know prior. My partner had the venison and it was tender with little bread underneath which were delicious along with the port and blue cheese sauce, yum!! There were a number of new start staff, this did not bother me in the slightest however training in the wine list would be advantageous to your staff and how to make the Guinness, which I had to inform the barman in how to do this. After dinner we sat for liquors and the bailies and others were still in the function room from a wedding prior, we were not offered these. Breakfast was superb, with a wide variety of cold and hot dishes along with ceral, yogurts, fruit ect. Very good!! All in all a nice stay, some dust missed around the bedside tables and some of the artwork didn't fit with the old house. I have stayed in *4 before with a little more nice touches. I would go again for the food.

"A good venue. "
Roaming B, 19 Août 2018

The food and service was excellent in the restaurant even with a wedding going on, we had more than one server dealing with our table, with no rush we could take our time an enjoy the food and have a relaxing evening.

"Excellent "
Jonathan S, 04 Août 2018

Good car parking and facilities nice warm welcome after a long difficult drive Great room very comfortable Great beer garden to relax in The restaurant food and service was good breakfast also very nice

"Good Hotel, great food, disappointing breakfast"
Gloriana R, 04 Août 2018

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding. The facility was excellent. Lovely big room for the ceremony and the reception. The food was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the sizes of the portion sizes too. Staff at the hotel reception desk were very helpful upon check in, and the rooms were lovely. Nice and spacious, huge comfortable bed, large en suite. Breakfast was a big let down, sadly. The actual food was great. We had no complaints about the choice of food, or the quality, but the service was appalling! We had to ask twice for plates/bowls. The gave us the pots of tea/coffee without cups, which was also had to ask for after a little wait. The lid was not correctly on the coffee pot, resulting in a big spill. There was no warning of this, no apology, no attempt to help clean up, and no offer to then refill the empty coffee pot. There was also mix ups with the orders for the cooked items. We were pretty unhappy with the service, especially because the breakfast was quite costly! Aside from the disastrous breakfast experience, our stay was very good overall.

"Superb Hotel"
spansr, 31 Juillet 2018

I stayed here for only 1 night, the hotel itself is easily accessible, I arrived just after 9pm on a Sunday, the restaurant closes at 9, but they rustled me up a cheese and pickle panini, this was absolutely delicious, this was served with a salad. I then went up to my room which was spotless, very very happy with the facilities, and I slept soundly, in the morning I was offered a full Scottish breakfast, this was a fantastic stay. Cared for by fantastic and dedicated staff. THANK YOU

"Good breakfast and spacious family room"
Linda Y, 30 Juillet 2018

Rated three star and is a good 3 star hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious but maybe in need of a little paint. Breakfast was very good and they catered well for gluten free diet (I am coeliac). It is also dog friendly which is good to know.

"Lunch"
moira24160, 23 Juillet 2018

Took a very dear friend for a birthday celebration, we had the three courses (smaller portions) deal and it was perfect. All the dishes were lovely, and the staff very helpful. Feel they are not selling them self so hopefully this review will help. Ps I am Chair of the Local Tourism Association and Chair of the Chairs! So have high benchmark.

"Pleasantly surprised"
Chelsea0407, 06 Juillet 2018

I was apprehensive about booking this as I'd read the reviews and had been put off however the price was too good to resist. I booked this as a treat to take my sister for a night away for her 15th birthday. The grounds are stunning and the hotel itself is very charming. I've never been in a hotel that has such nice surroundings. Upon arrival the staff were friendly and helpful (personally don't know why there are negative reviews about the staff). We were in room 220 which was an attic room. Very spacious and clean. Bed and pillows comfortable. Only niggle about the room is that there is no air conditioning and the room was so warm (warm weather obviously didn't help). The main reason I booked this hotel was for the pool and spa facilities. The first thing we did was go in the pool, which was a nice size and temperature. Could be a bit cleaner but nothing too major. Then followed by steam room and sauna which were great. Towels were provided free of change and changing rooms were big and clean. We drove from Glasgow so aren't familiar of the area or what's near so decided to have dinner in the hotel. Again the staff were lovely and attentive. There wasn't a massive choice in mains but the food was decent, not too expensive either. The desserts were amazing! We enjoyed our stay and next time I'll be back with my partner as it's a romantic hotel with lovely views. Advice... take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt!! I think you really have to be extremely pernickety or too stuck up to go out your way to look for/make faults. After all, what do you expect from a 3 star hotel that's usually on a reduced price through booking.com ???????

"It would have been 5 stars if it wasnt for breakfast."
blairdd1, 01 Juillet 2018

I booked this hotel for a night away with my partner as she is pregnant and the thought of a bath and pool sounded great. We arrived and were treated well. The room was lovely and clean and had a bath!!!! (we don't have one at home) We went downstairs and I had a couple of pints in the garden which is stunning. The pool was fantastic for her to cool down in. I farted about in the sauna and steamroom which were good too. We actually mentioned about the possibility of getting married there until we experinced breakfast. The one really bad point of the whole stay which actually soured the stay for us is..... When i booked the hotel i was certain I paid for breakfast. On arrival i was told i had'nt and had to pay an extra £24 odds. She ordered a fry up which was missing sausages. It was tasty all the same. I ordered poached eggs on toast with hollandaise. They arrived and the hollandaise had totally split and there was no toast. Literally two eggs on a plate with a rancid yellowness over the top, It looked revolting. The girl could see i was'nt happy but did not approach me to see if everything was alright. The room started to get busy so we left and I did'nt touch my breakfast. On leaving we were not asked hpw our stay was and it was busy with girls chatting so we left. Unfortunstely for the hotel they have messed up a potential wedding booking and i don't think we will go back now which is a shame due to the facilities being great. i would have given it 5 stars also.

"Nice night away"
Zwsandy, 30 Juin 2018

My wife and I stayed here for a night away with our youngest child (only 10 weeks). It's been quite a find actually and would recommend to anyone that is staying in the fife area for a few days. Rooms very clean and spacious and the (small) pool was nice to have too - if a little cold for a small baby! Great gardens and places to walk nearby.

"Two lovely days and nights"
jimboSaundersfoot, 28 Juin 2018

A very large, clean, and comfortable room with lovely views of the grounds to the rear ... welcoming and helpful staff ... old main house with appropriate period decor and furnishings ... two good nights sleep and tasty breakfast each morning?? The leisure facilities are second to none ?? A very relaxing atmosphere and I will certainly return ??

"Good location"
tandempilot2018, 27 Juin 2018

Good location on edge of town. Set within its own grounds the hotel is in a quiet location within a small well presented housing development. Footpaths and cycle ways crisscross the town and are easily accessed from the hotel enabling easy access to local amenities. The hotel is clean and tidy, the public rooms being very well presented. The standard bedroom is quite basic, clean and tidy and perhaps in need of an update. Plenty of hot water on tap within a spacious basic bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of fruit, cereals and full Scottish. The evening meal was somewhat disappointing. Decent steak, but the French fries and peas were what I would describe as "processed". A case of quantity over quality. Maybe explains why restaurant seemed so quiet. Staff very friendly, helpful and efficient.

"Ladies who lunch"
Elizabeth B, 24 Juin 2018

A great place to have lunch or dinner great value for money 2 menus to choose from we had the light lunch one we both opted for lasagne it comes with chips and salad excellent staff nothing to much trouble

"not too bad"
Dead-sleds, 20 Juin 2018

Stayed at this hotel for our last 4 days in Scotland. Chose this hotel because it was in a neighborhood- pictures of outside look quiet and relaxing. Booked a deluxe king room- still not sure what the "deluxe" part was? King sized bed in a VERY small room- we managed- others may not. Recommendation? Ask for a room on the other side AWAY from the fitness center. They hold several fitness classes in the evening. Our room was right over the classes which got a little old listening to the LOUD BOOMING MUSIC and the instructor screaming at the top of her lungs. If they turned the music down just a little bit the poor girl wouldn't have to shout so! (not a prude I listen to music loud myself just in the proper setting) We didn't ask to be moved- just putting it out there so others are aware. Room itself was a little worn out but was CLEAN so for us ok- others?? All the staff we dealt with were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional.

"Surprisingly very good"
William A, 17 Juin 2018

Only stayed here the one evening. A bit difficult to find since it seems to be at the end of a housing estate! Room was modern and spacious and very comfortable. Since there is not much within walking distance we had our evening meal in the hotel. The food and drink was very good and reasonably priced. The waiting staff and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar are located in the older part of the building and are nice surroundings. Lovely peaceful grounds and gardens to sit out and have a drink in.

"Disappointing"
Bilbarb, 13 Juin 2018

Booked dinner bed and breakfast, dinner turned out to be a £20 voucher per person. Put in a disabled room (number 230) ???not a single drop of water in the shower. Not a good experience .The staff were friendly enough. Lot of noise from the plumbing. BillSumner

"A lovely break "
dpaberdeen, 09 Juin 2018

This is a lovely old Victorian hotel. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was large and very comfortable. The service was efficient and attentive and the food was full of flavour and nicely presented. We enjoyed our night here.

"Rare find"
Stellaaaaaaa1229, 03 Juin 2018

My doggie LOVED this hotel. She had a blast running with other doggies in the big big grass area. The hotel staff are so friendly both to human and pet guests. Given that dogs are allowed in this hotel, I was expecting some noise. I didn't get woken up at all at night. All the doggies behaved themselves very well. The food in the hotel restaurant was surprisingly good and the portions are HUGE. The prices are good as well. If I ever want to just unwind and unplug from the world, I'd just come here, sit on the patio and enjoy pints of beer and watching my doggie enjoy herself.

"Great family meal"
Milldeans2018, 01 Juin 2018

I love going to Balgeddie for food. Just had my birthday dinner and there is plenty choice on the menu for all the family. I have the lasagne every time! Good service, great food and lovely setting. Would recommend to everyone

"Fab hotel and definitely dog friendly"
Springbok84782, 30 Mai 2018

What a beautiful country house. The rooms, furniture, paintings, decor and not to forget the food - all f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s !!! If the country house was beautiful - just wait til you meet the staff. Without doubt the loveliest people I have met during my stay in Scotland - and I have stayed in multiple hotels during this trip. From the reception staff to the nicest barman EVER who gave us plenty of tips on where to grab a bite to eat when we were out and about to bringing us drinks on the fabulous sun terrace ...you must definitely book a stay here at the Balgeddie House. You will not regret it ...trust me As for the person saying they were not permitted to leave their dog alone in the room - sorry but when we arrived at the hotel there was already a family there with a BIG dog and they had a room down the hall from us. Neither of us had to leave anyone in the room with our dogs - so maybe there might have been an issue with their dog.

"Very disappointing & poor nights sleep due to noise"

Poor service, from reception to bar to breakfast. Hair in bed under pillow - disgusting housekeeping standards supposed deluxe room has nothing deluxe about it (if room 233 is deluxe then I dread to see standard). Absolutely no view from window. Doors constantly banging throughout the night. Only 2 towels despite 3 guests! Carpet in room needs replacing as grotty as are curtains in the bar (black at bottom) Bar staff couldn't even make a shandy -poor girl was thrown in at the deep end with no apparent training. Greeted with ‘what's your order' at breakfast-despite not knowing the process Anyone with kids, don't book like I did being swayed by the pool. Only when you get there (& staff couldn't point this out on their website & chose to blame booking.com!) will you find out that it's severely restricted when U16s can swim, and a parent must be there at all times despite minors being strong swimmers. Such a shame because the building & grounds are lovely. I won't go back.

"Massive dissapotintment and lack of proffesionalism"
Ironiaaa, 26 Mai 2018

I booked a surprise trip via booking.com for my partner. It was special celebration for him. We arrived to the hotel around 7pm and when trying check in we have been told that the booking is not in the system and they are fully booked. I know that things like that happen, system error, bookings not closed online etc but the behaviour and approach of a women on reception was disguisting and unproffesional. We have been told that basically there's no room and bye!!! When asked if she has any other properties around in her mind she made one phone call found room 30£ more expensive without breakfast and all the amenites like theirs (swimming pool, spa, restaurant) and that we have to pay it ourself!!!!! Disgrace!!! First time I have been treated like that. I dont care whose fault was that, I was left in the middle of nowhere without accomodation! I disagree and at the top of that I have been told that I have to call booking.com myself to avoid being charged! Eventually when I steongly disagree with whatever receptionist was saying, a man came to us and started to look for another accomodation. They found us a stinky room above pub 3 miles away. Dissapointment!!! After long day and 2 hours drive we decided to go home as trip was ruined anyway. After all of that I received email offering us an upgrade for next stay as an appology.. Sorry but after being treated like that I will not risk booking with this people... Don't remember being so upsett not mentioning the surprise for my partner being completely ruined.

""disappointing""
SteveandLynne, 04 Avril 2018

We recently stayed at the balgeddie hotel for one night on return from a break in the lakes, the hotel is indeed set in beautiful grounds and our room was quite stunning, the staff also were overall very nice but sadly this is as far as the positives go. The hotel claims to be pet friendly but it most definitely isnt, a card of rules and regulations with your pets was given which we understood as not all dog owners are respectful of the property of others. We were told not to leave the dogs in the room at any time which meant we couldn't use the swimming pool or have breakfast together and as the weather was freezing we couldn't leave our dogs in the car. Our son had his meal in his room with the dogs while my husband and I had a drink in the lounge, we sat in the lounge area which you can take dogs and it has a beautiful outlook onto the garden but the room itself was 'souless' , no background music and table and chairs that looked liked a bowling club, the only sound we heard was the bar staff saying she was "so drunk last night she didn't know how she got home" Such a waste as all it would take is a few lovely couches and chairs , nice background music and a cocktail bar that actually serves cocktails!! I was so glad we had a lovely experience at the hotel in the lakes as this was a poor end to our break. I would recommend you avoid this hotel if your a dog owner. Such a waste as a beautiful hotel and location.

"Great hotel with great staff."
davidedmiston, 27 Mars 2018

I use this hotel quite a bit when travelling on business and it is clean, well equipped and ticks all the boxes. There is one thing that does stand out above the other good points and that is the staff are excellent. They are friendly, receptive and can't do enough to help you. In some respects I don't really want to write this review as it may make my short notice trips hard to accommodate. However, credit where credit is due, spot on good old fashioned customer service.

"50th anniversary "
760donc, 17 Mars 2018

16 of us celebrated my parents golden anniversary and I have to say it was a very memorable and enjoyable evening had by all! With some of the family staying at the hotel at a great price which included a great breakfast! As for the meal that we were they for, I have to admit was excellent with great service provided and great food to complement the service! The quickness of taking orders for the meal and the well executed times for every course being served and there was no issues for making sure we were well looked after with drinks and clearing the plates between courses! I would highly recommend this hotel for a great night out May it be with large or small parties

"March stay"
SteBrizz, 13 Mars 2018

Stayed for one snowy night in March. Check in and parking fine. Room was a large old fashioned suite. Great size Room with comfy chairs and a dining table. Large bathroom with corner bath and separate shower. Large comfy bed and pillows. Good was served in good time and reasonable hotel prices. Only problem I had was on room service breakfast. I ordered the night before for 8.30am. However it arrived at 7.45am which meant an earlier than expected wake up call. Breakfast was good. Would stay again as used a few times.

"Lovely Hotel"
gw10oxenhamcraig, 12 Mars 2018

My Auntie was staying at the hotel for 1 night and when i walked in the door it looked amazing. The staff were brilliant and very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family

"Overpriced and a bit grubby in places"
Scotlands_wanderer, 03 Mars 2018

We stayed the last weekend in February 2018. We had stayed here before it's ‘redevelopment' (in other words add loads of rooms but keep the dining area the same size!) Sadly the place looks half finished both in terms of the removal of external signage and the odd move of the reception area away from the grand entrance (which still sits vacant and unused?) to the gym area.... obviously to save staff costs out of peak. No control of entry at the old reception at night (a sign said CCTV in operation?). Our real disappointment was the lack of cleanliness in the room/bathroom - mouldy silicone around the bath. Dirty glasses in the bathroom. Empty toilet roll holder. Dirty saucers in the bedroom. Very dusty lamp bases. Cotton bud (in view under bed). The room looked very tired apart from the addition of a new chair and runner on the bed. Mattress was very uncomfortable and not supportive. Breakfast particularly uninspiring. The receptionist at checkout was miserable and surprise surprise didn't ask how our stay was. Disappointing stay and wouldn't go back!

"NOT DOG FRIENDLY.....dog owners be warned."
wendysmith0812, 03 Mars 2018

We booked this hotel as were travelling with our two dogs and wanted to be near family who we were visiting over our 5 night stay. I had read on here that this hotel accepted dogs and booked accordingly. Upon check-in my husband was presented with two small bags of dog treats which were supplied in "poop bags", that was as dog friendly as it gets. Our room (202) was large with high ceilings, the decor and carpet were tired and in need of refurbishment and the room was always cold, despite having a radiator. We met with family to have dinner which we had in the room next to the Lounge bar as the dogs were with us. The bar staff were friendly however the meal was average at best. The following 2 mornings my husband and I had breakfast together leaving the dogs in the room for approx. 15 minutes each day. On day three at breakfast we were informed by a staff member that the dogs were barking so I promptly returned to the room to find them quiet, we then spent the day away with family. We returned late and went straight to our room where we found an envelope under the door, kindly informing us that due to "damage to property" £100 would be added to our bill. The next day I spoke with a man at Reception, I believe he said he was the owner who informed me the dogs had scratched the door and chewed the bed valance which had a wooden faux suede trim, I kindly informed him that the bed valance was in that condition when we checked in as I noted it straight away, but had thought no more of it at the time given the tired decor in the room, we inspected the door and we fully accepted the scratches on the door were from the dogs but still felt the charge was excessive. On closer inspection of the valance it was clearly now chewed or scratched by any animal, more likely had a bit of a thumping from a hoover, (I have pictures!) I must point out that given the Management knew we had dogs however not once during our stay were the dogs ever offered a bowl of water nor were we offered somewhere were we could actually enjoy breakfast with our dogs. This in our opinion is a definite lack in customer service. On check-out the "owner" passed a comment to my husband which then ended in a bit of a debate, my husband informed him that we would not return..... to which he promptly replied, good as we were not welcome and good riddance and that he would have charged us a lot more than the £100 but the other Directors had objected. A sour end to what was a lovely few days with elderly parents and family. This hotel charges you an additional £10.00 per night per dog - your dog does not receive any special treatment for this charge it simply allows them to be there. THIS HOTEL IS DOG TOLERANT AT BEST- DEFINITELY NOT "DOG FRIENDLY". Our dogs are an extended part of our family and I therefore do NOT recommend this hotel for pet owners. That said, I have given 3 stars because we found the bar staff and breakfast staff lovely, We will not return to this hotel again and will be carrying out thorough research for a REAL dog friendly hotel on our next trip to Scotland.

"A bit let down this time"
BikerBuster, 26 Février 2018

We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions in the past and have always had a stay that left us wanting more, however, this time we booked a Deluxe room and it was a bitter disappointment. The Deluxe room we had was in the newer part of the building, just above the leisure and gym facilities. The bed was an absolute delight, however, it took up most of the room, although there was *some* space the room felt crammed and to be honest we did have difficulty getting out of each others way when we were unpacking. After a good sleep in the comfortable bed, I was woken in the morning by the next door neighbour using the toilet! Not an amazing wake-up call, as I am sure you can imagine, we then heard someone else having a conversation about whether to shower or not! And then there was the lift, all I could hear from 6.00am onwards (after my wake-up call!) was this constant electronic advice as to whether the lift was coming, going, opening or closing ~ this was cured later that evening by myself, I released the fire door off it's magnetic stop, allowing it to close, this prevented any further lift noise reaching us (yes, the fire doors were held open all weekend). At some point later maybe 8.00-8.30am, the Gym classes started and I was laying in bed listening to every syllable of instruction. This room is not adequately sound proofed and certainly NOT deserving the 'Deluxe' title. Moving on.. We could not fault the staff at all, they were all pleasant professional and well disciplined. The restaurant service was courteous, polite and efficient, although possibly understaffed on Saturday night as we had to await an opportunity to flag someone down for a drinks refill. The food we had on both evenings was absolutely excellent (particularly the venison!), everything cooked to perfection with great attention to detail and well presented. The leisure facilities there are great, they are clean, well presented and maintained. Indeed this is one of the features that has us returning to this venue, and the garden is a pleasure to visit, whatever the weather. Would we go back? Maybe, but we would have to stipulate a room in the older part of the hotel.

"Wife's birthday "
Keith B, 24 Février 2018

Excellent place couldn't fault the place nice and clean helpful staff asked for a small portion meal like a big one still enjoyed it and the breakfast was lovely too great room especially for the price will be going back

"It was good for us"
Olbrit1, 13 Février 2018

We had a room above the bar but it wasn't too noisy for us. I didn't see the modern block people describe on TA as we were in the older part which is nice. Note they don't have lifts in the old part of the hotel and the top floor is quite a steep climb, The staff were very nice and helpful and we ate quite well. I think there are lots of functions held. There is a nice lawn outside they have bar tables on the patio. We liked the pool (though on the cool side) and no one told us we needed a pound coin for the lockers so we had to leave our clothes to chance in an unsecured box. However the facilities were good and we enjoyed our visit. We would definitely stay again but only in the old part of the hotel as we don't like modern hotels.

"Not for families "
Tony M, 10 Février 2018

Stayed here in the past and it was amazing this time hurendous. NOT family friendly and the staff ate not friendly Everyone is more interested in looking after the local people from the bar to health club. Wouldn't stay here again didn't even want to eat in after the poor service. We went for food else where 2x breakfasts 2x lunchs 2x dinners Hair dryer also exploded and cut all electrics and was just replaced no real concern over what could of happened.

"A Pleasant Suprise After A Lomg Absence"
pgalpin, 02 Février 2018

Haven't been here for about 4 years and last time was not a great success. A two night visit for work was overall very successful. My room in the main building was roomy, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service could not have been better. Special thanks to the young lady on reception who sorted out my taxi. Unlike my last visit the food on this occasion was good, not exceptional but good and value for money. Breakfast was however very good with both hot and cold selections. Given that the cost for my room, including breakfast, was only £55, it was certainly worth it. I'll be staying here next time I'm in Glenrothes.

Just had a wee overnight stay here and was really happy with the hotel and it facilities and staff me and my wife usually stay at the seamill hydro for our we spa treat . The Scottish breakfast was of very good quality and the pool sauna and steam room where fantastic good size gym to . Can't wait to go back and relax more on the super comfy bed

"Fantastic Few Days"
Tinkerbell1987, 16 Janvier 2018

Me & my husband stayed here between Xmas & New Year for a couple of days for a short break. I couldn't fault this hotel at all. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing place and this is definitely what we found. Despite a wedding being on the same time we were there this was at a different part of the hotel so we didn't hear any noise. It was really snowy winter weather when we went so the surroundings were beautiful covered in white snow and our room overlooked the lovely picturesque garden area. The morning breakfast was delicious and we had dinner in hotel one evening and it was extremely tasty. Our room was clean and tidy and so cosy. The pool area is also worth a visit it was very relaxing and quiet and the sauna and steam room facilities are excellent. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly if you need any assistance. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would return

"Hogmanay Dineer Dance"
sandie05, 15 Janvier 2018

This was a fab evening with great entertainment the band played for every age group The food was fab and the servise was faultless. Will be booking for this year great value. This is a great wedding venue as well my son was married here and we had a great day nothing was to much trouble for the staff.

"Good Done Great"
Fraser Y, 04 Janvier 2018

Stayed for 2 nights just after new year. Couldn't have been happier. Everything here is done well, the rooms, common areas, pool and spa are clean to a high standard. We had selected a winter special offer from the best western website which worked out at just over £200 for 2 large double rooms. The rooms were large with good size bathrooms and were spotless as we're the ensuite bathrooms in both which were a good size, the beds were huge and comfortable. Breakfast was included on our deal, this included a self service bar and a few hot items from the menu. The food on the self service bar was fairly basic but tasty including pastries, fruit, cereals and toast. The cooled breakfast was well done, slightly better on the first morning than the second, it was perfectly sized, not too much but enough to fill the void. After the breakfast order was given the food was served rapidly within a few minutes and was nice and hot. The brasserie has a great menu with selections for everybody, I sampled the haggis burger on the first evening along with the chicken breast starter. Tasted great overall, particularly the burger. The salad was a little dry and basic, but did not detract from the rest of the food. The swimming pool was clean and well serviced with good facilities, sauna and steam room and decent sized changing facilities. Shame about the lack of a hot tub but still good overall. Great place doing everything right. Staff were some of the friendliest I'd ever met!

"Fantastic stay - great facilities and staff"
scottc1985, 04 Janvier 2018

My wife and I were looking for a break between Christmas and New Year and found this hotel online. We were looking for a hotel with a swimming pool, sauna etc. and a deal that included breakfast. We booked it online around October time direct through the Hotel website. Around a week before we were due to arrive my wife had a look on booking.com and saw the same room type with breakfast on the same dates we had booked at a much lower price. I phoned the hotel and spoke to the manager, he offered to match the price on booking.com and keep us in the same standard of room which was a newer, deluxe room. I thought this was excellent customer service and started off our experience with the hotel on an excellent footing. The hotel is in a nice location, around a 5 minute drive from Glenrothes town centre and is near a housing estate, the hotel has very nice grounds and as it had been snowing when we arrived it looked really beautiful and I have attached a picture of the view we had from our room. Glenrothes itself doesn't have much to offer although there is a good shopping centre and we visited Riverside Park which we thought was great and looked really nice in the snow. The location is good for visiting towns in fife, we went to Anstruther and Leven which were a short drive away. We found the check in process really easy and the person was very friendly and helpful and explained times for breakfast and how to get towels for the swimming etc. The swimming pool was very clean and quite modern and there is a large sauna and a really good steam room. We visited the pool 3 times during our stay and it was always very peaceful, quiet and relaxing and very clean. The changing rooms were also clean and modern. The breakfast was excellent, it was a menu and we got the full Scottish breakfast on each occasion, very fresh and tasty food and really nice surroundings with a view of the grounds. On the second night we also ate in the hotel and the meal was great, staff very friendly and the prices were reasonable. Overall it was a really enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

"A weekend of celebration "
nekrews2002, 02 Janvier 2018

My partner and I recently stayed at Balgeddie house hotel to attend our close friends wedding followed by their Hogmanay party the following night. We were in a deluxe double which was lovely. The bed was huge! The hotel was very clean and the staff were very nice and extremely helpful. The food was good quality and the portions were very generous. We enjoyed the facilities within the hotel also.

"Great stay"
annie99942, 20 Novembre 2017

We could only stay for 1 night on this occasion but it didn't disappoint. The room was lovely and bathroom and shower great. I didn't use the pool but my husband did and really enjoyed it - said it was a fantastic pool. I always enjoy my breakfast at the Balgeddie House Hotel but I think this weekend they surpassed even their own excellent record. The cooked breakfast can't be bettered and there is now a more interesting selection in the buffet. Well done to the really helpful staff and we hope to be back soon.

"One night stay"
phillipc568, 12 Novembre 2017

Stayed in the one of the Garden Rooms, very spacious, clean, well decorated and presented. Large shower and separate bath. The bed was extremely large and comfortable. Access to the garden via French doors was very nice.

"Pleasant Surroundings and Helpful Staff!"
BigDaddyDave55138, 08 Novembre 2017

This hotel has a total of only 33 rooms but they also do some business as a health and exercise center. We saw classes for swimming and exercise underway. The facility includes a fully equipped gym (new equipment arrived while we were there), a sauna and steam room and an indoor pool. The grounds here and in most of Scotland, both for commercial and private homes, were extremely well maintained…better than the average property in the USA. Adjusting to European style facilities was interesting… Most mattresses were harder than you would find in the USA or Canada. Heating is via modern radiators rather than forced air. If the radiators are ‘on', you can adjust them up or down but you really can't control the room temperature. However the staff was very helpful and provided enough heat for us upon request. Like most hotels and motels in the USA, there was rarely enough light provided in the rooms. The bathrooms were the biggest challenge for us. Most hotels including this one, don't provide washcloths or bars of soap for the shower. They do provide liquid soap but that's not my preference… We thought that counter space in our bathroom was a bit small but in retrospect, it was ‘roomy' in comparison to some other places we stayed. My biggest problem with this bathroom was the shower/tub configuration. First of all, like in several other Bed and Breakfasts or hotels on our trip, for an 'old guy' the side of the tub is rather high making it challenging just to step into the tub for your shower. Once I got one foot in, the slippery bottom of the tub almost ended my trip. I had to call for a rubber bath mat to reduce the hazard as the ‘rough' bottom of the tub just wasn't rough any longer… The staff readily searched for and provided the mat when I called. We also discovered that the only electrical outlets in the bathrooms are for low voltage electric razors. If a woman wants to blow her hair dry or use a curling iron/brush, she had to do it using an outlet in the bedroom… Of course we adjusted to all of these issues and in the end, they really were just part of the travel experience… We were on the Bed and Breakfast Plan at 122.50 pounds sterling per night per couple. (Approximately $160.00 per night) We felt that it was fairly reasonable with full breakfasts for 2 included in the rate. The dining room at the Balgeddie House Hotel was pleasant and airy with a continental buffet with juice, scones, yogurt, cereal, etc., set up along the end of the room. Two of us opted for the full Scottish breakfast with an egg, English style bacon, a sausage, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, black pudding, baked beans and a piece of fried bread…with lots of toast, butter and preserves on the side. Despite our tourist 'learning curve', there is no doubt that the Balgeddie House Hotel is an above average facility. The building and grounds were well maintained and everything was very clean. The staff bent over backwards to take care of us. Special kudos to the desk staff and all the friendly assistance that they provided!

"My best freinds wedding weekend"
Emma L, 06 Novembre 2017

We had a really lovely time here, very clean and tidy and the staff were fantastic. The food was also really lovely. It's a shame we couldn't spend more time here as we were so busy!! And the staff couldn't do enough for you. I would definitely stay here again.

"Excellent"
Phil_P_Danes, 06 Novembre 2017

I stayed here January 2017 with friends and had an excellent experience. The rooms staff and service could not be faulted. Fantastic selection of whisky too ??We Have just booked again for January 2018

"Hotel great, restaurant could be better"
Huw C, 29 Octobre 2017

Stayed here for three nights whilst on business trip to Leven. Nice welcome at reception and got a very good room on first floor of new building. Large room, comfy bed, very clean, no issues at all. Had dinner one night in restaurant and bit disappointed, looked like old furniture, place mats etc. Four of us and waited ages for anyone to bring menus or ask about drinks. Menu was a bit dated, all seemed a bit early 1980s type pub grub, scampi, pate etc.,with the same side salads added to all starters and mains. I had fish for main and seemed to be similar to supermarket breaded fillet and over cooked in oven. As the hotel is a bit far to walk into Glenrothes they are really missing an opportunity to have a modern bistro on site, with daily specials and local produce, so guests wanted to eat in. Breakfast in same restaurant was okay, but a bit dark and dreary. We went out the other two nights as a result, so hotel lost revenue... shame as would have eaten in if had been more up to date. Perfectly fine stay otherwise.

"Relaxing Break"
audreyj21, 21 Octobre 2017

Spent last weekend here beautifully clean room on top floor of the original building. Food portions good at breakfast but the dining menu extremely huge & good quality. My only problem were the shower curtains a little bit past their best would have preferred a shower screen as they look more hygienic. All in all a fantastic break, lovely quiet rooms and friendly staff.

"Wedding Reception"
Alex R, 09 Octobre 2017

Excellent Hotel, good restaurant with attentive staff, only stayed one night but was a very enjoyable family gathering, that went well thanks to the hotel and the staff. Have used this hotel before and had no problems with it, will have no hesitation in staying here again in the future.

"Great from the get go"
MrsCK1, 29 Septembre 2017

Amazing staff. Sarah, Martian, Alison, Lynn and Jamie. They all took the time to welcome us warmly and couldn't do enough for you. Their customer service put us in a good mood from the start. The hotel itself is pretty and well catered for. The main reception is in the spa area and provides a modern and smart impression. The pool looks inviting and wasn't crowded. Our room was located on the second floor, help was offered with bags as the stairs are quite steep. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable. The walls are quite thin so I would suggest ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. We ate in the hotel restaurant. I had the venison which was great. Plenty of food and hit the spot after a day travelling. The dessert menu for me wasn't amazing and I did have to return the chocolate almond tart. Though gluten free it didn't taste as fresh as it should. The staff were very helpful though and sorted the problem quickly. The bar is well stocked and also open to locals and which made for an interesting and amusing evening. Overall, we had a great stay and will be looking forward to coming back. It is a value for money hotel with first rate service and I would highly recommend.

"Wedding Day"
Batty61, 26 Septembre 2017

Our son and his new wife held their Wedding reception here on Saturday. Cannot fault the staff who were attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Everything ran smoothly, thanks to the expertise of the staff. Big thank you to Lynn who kept everyone on track. We stayed the night in one of the Garden rooms. Large room and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast the next day was lovely, couldn't finish it all, there was so much. Thank you to all the staff at the Balgeddie who helped make this special day perfect.

"Nice hotel for a break set in lovely grounds with Great Staff"
BordersGuy, 24 Septembre 2017

We were using this hotel for a break to visit family, and have a quiet meal, and one of the best things is that the hotel is Dog Friendly !!! The food is good and even though the hotel was very busy with a wedding, and other special birthday parties, the staff were all very nice and helpful. Minor technical problem with the shower in the bathroom but this was easily resolved. We met up with Lynn in the restaurant who we know when she worked elsewhere and are sure that the high standards she set have been transferred to the Balgeddie House Hotel. I would recommend this hotel for a break and we will definitely be back again.

"Quaint hotel on arrival but I stayed in the modern block at the side"
ladyjane19, 21 Septembre 2017

This hotel is not what it seems, from the front you think you are staying in an old Scottish hotel but then most of the rooms are on a new extension. The extension is above a fitness suite with a busy gym and constant classes. The room was very standard even though they said I had been upgraded to a deluxe room. It had a shower curtain and a hard bed . The food was average and service good

"Very helpful and cheerful staff"
Skye2903, 18 Septembre 2017

Arranged for our room to be ready early at short notice as we needed to change for a wedding, arranged taxis, gave us advice on wedding location and couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely grounds, room was fine and a super breakfast. Overall extremely satisfied with quality and price and would recommend

"Lovely getaway"
Barry John M, 17 Septembre 2017

When for a nice relaxing weekend with the family and the dog and i was not disappointed the room was a deluxe room with two beds together to make a double very comfy no big deal and a camp bed for my daughter again it was comfy room was very clean and had everything you needed. Pool was spotless inside and out along with the sauna and spa and not too busy . The bar was nice and relaxing with good chat with the locals not too expensive my only down side was the the food in the restaurant was ok it was simple pub grub but more expensive. I would come back again and the wifi was great was avle to have a few beers and watch the fooball .

"Wonderful staff & great food"
Ian B, 11 Septembre 2017

We spent the weekend at the hotel in Room 238 with double aspect windows. I have a disability and the staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough for us. We only had dinner on one night as we were attending a family function on the second. The food was excellent, including an unbelievable Cullen Skink ! Food and wine were all reasonably priced. Breakfast is freshly cooked and is excellent. I would highly recommend this truly 'dog friendly ' hotel

"Disappointing"
M H, 09 Septembre 2017

We stayed for one night, and our experience was average. We had a very poor room in the attic and the toilet didn't flush. The skylight windows also meant that the rain was very noisy and we couldn't open the windows. It was incredibly expensive for one night and poor value for money. We wouldn't go back. The staff were helpful in providing a sandwich after snacks had stopped being served, but the quality of the bread was very poor and below what you would expect in a hotel of this kind.

"A Lovely Hotel..."
JAMAICALUVRS, 08 Septembre 2017

We booked a King room for the last week of August. When we arrived to the hotel, there was a wedding going on and a bagpipe player at the entrance. Our room, although quite small, was very comfortable and we had everything that we needed. The bed was comfortable and we had adequate space for our clothing. We ate several meals at the hotel and all were very good. We made use of the swimming pool and sauna's once and everything was very clean and in good order! The staff at the desk were all very nice and helpful, as well as the staff in the restaurants.

"A great place to stay"

I have to say that Glenrothes is not my favourite place in Scotland to stay, but if you have a reason to stay in that part of Fife, you can do no better than stay at the Balgeddie House Hotel. It has to be said that the quality of the rooms varies but, if you want a great experience, pay the little bit extra for a deluxe room. You won't regret it. The staff here are few but exceptionally friendly and helpful, if a bit cheeky in the case of the barman. But don't be deterred, his cheek is part of his charm and he'll bend over backwards to help you. Having said the staff are few, this is not the case in the restaurant. Service is prompt and efficient and the food is delicious. At breakfast you can sit and chill for as long as you wish. An added bonus? Following checkout, you are still welcome to use the hotel pool until 5 pm. What's not to like? A great venue if you want to stay in this area.

"Lovely Hotel"
myweetoon, 03 Septembre 2017

We love this hotel. That's our second visit and we'll definitely return. There were 17 of us who stayed there for a couple of nights as we were attending a wedding nearby. The staff are so nice and friendly. Room was a great size and very comfortable. Our friends had a garden room which had an open grassy area and was a great venue for pre-wedding drinks and nibbles. The breakfast was delicious. The garden at the rear of the hotel is so spacious and is lovely on a nice day to sit and relax and have a drink. Nice to have a relaxing swim in the pool. All in all another pleasant stay and we'll definitely be back.

"A comfortable stay"
Lisa H, 01 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for 3 nights and the room was very clean and large enough for our family of 3 with the extra bed having a proper mattress (unlike some other hotels!). Found food disappointing, and only ate in restaurant on the first night. We were booked on Room only basis, but found the £12.95 for breakfast per person rather overpriced! The leisure facilities were good, although the pool is a little small, but kept our daughter happy. Overall a comfortable stay.

"Great Food"
User, 27 Août 2017

Very friendly staff, the rooms and pool area are very clean and the food is just fantastic. I would highly recommend visiting. Large green nice to sit and relax or if a family watch the kids play on the green

"Overnight visit"
JenO263, 24 Août 2017

Friendly reception staff and plenty of parking despite a wedding going on in the hotel. Our room was on the top floor and you could hear the wedding, but this was quiet by 11pm. The over the bath shower had low water pressure but there was plenty of hot water. We were given late check out as this was a Sunday morning and there was no-one booked in the following day. The breakfast was good. My only gripe was the room being expensive but I expect this was because of the proximity to Edinburgh.

"Good bed not so good breakfast"
Paddysherry, 18 Août 2017

This was my second stay at the hotel and had rebook because of the great experience I had on my first visit. Lovely large, airy, clean room overlooking beautiful gardens. Massive ensuite spotlessly clean. Comfy bed and bedding. However breakfast was very disappointing. Asked for scrambled egg with my cooked breakfast. No seasoning and very over cooked as was the potato scone. Sausage bland and of poor quality. Even my husband did not eat his. Coffee was good.

"largely let down by the food"
chestnutter2017, 09 Août 2017

had a one night stopover at Balgeddie House. Was really looking forward to it, having read the trip advisor reviews and seen the lovely photos. The reception staff were very helpful. Our room overlooked an annexe roof, although it was comfortable, there were stains on the carpet and the paint was peeling off in the bathroom. It was also unbearably hot during the night, even with the window open. On the plus side, it was very quiet! I'm sorry to say the evening meal was absolutely awful - my "meat platter" starter was four tiny slices of wafer thin meat on iceburg lettuce and a tiny bowl of cheap olives. The "thai red chicken curry" tasted like a microwave meal. Despite the fact that I left 3/4 of it on my plate, not one of the three different waiting staff that attended to us asked if we had enjoyed our meal. The breakfast was also really disappointing - no kids cereal, the orange juice was not replenished, VERY cheap bread and again despite leaving most of my eggs hollandaise (which were congealed when they arrived), the waiting staff did not enquire if the breakfast had been ok. I would add that we are most definately NOT fussy eaters, and are usually happy to give anything a go! I noticed a lot of plates in the breakfast room with food left uneaten. Such a shame and it looked so good on the website

"Nice stay overall"
SDS23, 08 Août 2017

Enjoyed a one night stopover recently. The receptionist Alison was very welcoming. The bedroom was lovely overlooking the stunning grounds. Didn't try dinner at the hotel as ate out locally. The only real issue we had was when it came to the breakfast. Very disappointing experience. The staff member, a lady wearing glasses, was not overly friendly or helpful. The buffet choice was not that great. The cooked breakfast was tasty so kitchen staff doing a great job, but let down by poor service. If the breakfast service and choice were improved, this would be a really nice hotel to return to, but I don't think I would return in a hurry based on the current breakfast setup, as there are other hotels and b&b's which offer better, nicer breakfasts.

"Lovely Hotel"
jsmklm, 04 Août 2017

Just stayed here for 1 night lovely hotel, check In was very efficient from Alison and very professional explaining everything and giving us good guides for walking our dog, the other lady showed our daughter the swimming pool and explained everything(sorry didn't catch her name) our wee dog was happy with his wee bag of treats, the room was very clean and spacious, we had dinner in the room next to the restaurant as we had the dog, food and service was absolutely amazing Jamie behind the bar was super as was the waitress didn't catch her name, breakfast the next morning though was a bit of a let down, as we had the dog we were in the adjacent room again(no problem with that) table set up promptly and tea brought, no explanation about the buffet or how to get cooked breakfast until prompted, when the breakfast came there was no haggis on my plate as ordered and the tattie scones looked dry and as if they were cooked in the oven, I tried one but Couldn't eat it and asked if they could give me fresh tattie scones fried, when they came back they were inedible, I think they fried the same ones as they gave me the first time, no staff cleared any of our plates during the time we were in the restaurant even after being in there 15minutes after finishing no staff to be seen, very poor. Would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend, but sadly not for breakfast, would have been 5stars if only I slept in and missed breakfast.

"Not a Country House hotel"
Duncan C, 02 Août 2017

Not Country House - is on the edge of a housing estate. Hotel needs a bit of investment but is OK. Room was spacious and well appointed but it is the first hotel I have been in where you pay extra for a superior room to find it is above a noisy bar - with outside drinking which makes the noise worse. Bar and Restaurant were extremely busy and disorganised and menu / food quality / service not great. Maybe just because it was Friday night... Spa and pool are good and plenty of parking.

"Lovely staff "
eve261, 30 Juillet 2017

Flying visit to see relatives & booked last minute. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Especially Lynn the Duty Manager. It's nice to see genuine & cheerful staff. The food was average, but good portion size. Drinks were reasonably priced. Our room was beautiful. We will definitely be back.

"Lovely short break"
Caroline E, 25 Juillet 2017

What a great hotel. Lovely, peaceful setting yet not far from good shopping. Ideally placed for visiting everywhere in Fife. Very close to Falkland Palace and not too far to St Andrews. Will definitely return,

"Pleasant stay"
Roy B, 23 Juillet 2017

My partner and I had the pleasure of a two night stay last week. Room was extremely comfortable with a lovely view over the well kept garden, we were in what appears to be a relatively new extension to the hotel which transitions new with old with ease. Breakfast on both days was tasty and a good selection of cereals and such like were on offer. Dinners were adequate on both nights but food was unremarkable. Only small criticism was £20per person allowance for dinner on DBB rate is inadequate as it is not possible to have a 3 course dinner within this allowance I would suggest either raise the allowance or reduce the dinner menu pricing. On one of the evenings we were unfortunately woken by the fire alarm as can happen anywhere. Duty Manager was sympathetic and understanding to deal with. The night Porter clearly did not attend the same charm school. That said overall it was an enjoyable stay and in general terms the staff were very pleasant and efficient.

"Overnight stay"
User, 23 Juillet 2017

This is the second time I have stayed here and cannot fault it. The bedrooms are large and the bed really comfortable. As it was a nice evening I sat in the garden having a wine while my grandson played with a little boy he had just met. The staff are really friendly and the young girls who serve breakfast are so nice. The breakfast is very good either having cereal and pastries or a cooked breakfast or both. Next time I will make use of the pool

"Night away. "
MrsPScot, 17 Juillet 2017

Myself & my husband went for a wee night away to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He booked Balgeddie as it was close to home & also the amenities were quite good. On our arrival we were welcomed by a very pleasant & helpful receptionist. The reception area was lovely. Everything was clearly explained to us. We headed to our room which was 210, the room is where it loses marks for me, the room itself is what I can only describe as a cheap looking b&b in Blackpool, very old & very dated. The carpet & Lino in the bathroom, along with the bathroom suite and furniture haven't been replaced for years! However, credit were credit is due, it was clean, massive bathroom and massive bed. Tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and ironing board. We went to the spa and swimming pool and the changing area was nice, and we had a good time there. We ate a light lunch and then later on for an evening meal, the food was really good. Best steak pie I've had in a long time! The staff at the bar & restaurant were very attentive and all reasonably priced. In fact, I cannot fault any staff member as they were all nice & lovely and more than willing to help. All in all, it was a very good stay, very relaxed but I really feel that if they done some refurbishment to the rooms, this would make me give this a 5 star rating. I've stayed in best western before, namely the keavil house and the rooms were so much better, also I believe the owners also manage the Pitbauchlie House hotel which is 5 minutes from where I live and I regularly go there for something to eat & drink and it's lovely in there so definitely time to invest more in the rooms and update slightly even if wish to keeping in the theme of the hotel like the others have done.

"Leaves a lot to be desired"
John2358, 11 Juillet 2017

We stopped here for three nights. What a mistake. On arrival we are allocated a room that we rejected. Staff resolved this but told me it was a complimentary upgrade yet I was actually preparing to leave so they would have lost the income, so why try to make me feel grateful. In the restaurant when I requested a wine list it was flicked onto the table with a " here you go". We did not order a bottle. The food or should I say my food was ok but my wife's Lasagne looked like orange sick like a dish she had never seen before. Rejected and offered another choice which she accepted. The food prices and quality are a mismatch as are the wine list prices compared to the food. Breakfast at £11.95 is unreal. You would be better at a local supermarket. Luckily we had an inclusive rate or we would be at the supermarket or local cafe. This is not one of our better choices and we will not repeat it at this hotel. Potential to be fantastic, long way to go.

"Great weekend"
renatobelli99, 10 Juillet 2017

My wife and I stayed overnight at this hotel on our weekend away in Fife ,we had a lovely time visiting all the surrounding attractions which are many including St. Andrews but the highlight was this pleasant hotel with lovely staff who were all very helpful ,the room was spacious very clean and the bed enormous and comfortable although I could have done with a bigger tv but that's just me getting old and my eye site is not the best ,the restaurant was good and I could not finish my venison steaks as it was too much so yes I would recommend this hotel and I imagine it would be excellent for weddings

"Relaxing weekend"
katrina b, 09 Juillet 2017

Stayed for a lovely weekend and couldn't recommend this hotel more highly. The staff were exceptional and so friendly and helpful. The room we had overlooked the lovely garden at the back, so peaceful. Family and dog friendly with a lovely restaurant and delicious food. We used the swimming pool and spa, well equipped changing area, high spec. If you are looking for a great place to stay for a get away in the beautiful Kingdom of Fife, you won't be disappointed with this gem. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area.

"Period Hotel"
Dodnbunty285, 03 Juillet 2017

Lovely mix of period features with all mod cons. Our room was a delux room which was spacious and very comfortable. Lovely views over the garden. Dinner was lovely and quite reasonably priced. I enjoyed the pool but wish I had taken gym kit as there were classes I could have attended free of charge. Lovely place.

"Lovely Staff"
lynn1475, 25 Juin 2017

Our stay was very nice , its a big old country house , not modern at all , which we loved , our room faced on to the back garden , gorgeous view, pool was nice changing area was nice to too , we came here because it takes dogs and the previous reviews were really good , The staff are lovely every one of them that we met were so nice especially in the dining room , food was lovely , very attentive ,, Thank you

"Graduation Visit"
Jazwdw, 24 Juin 2017

We choose this hotel as it was close enough to the University of St Andrews for our sons graduation. The hotel and staff are excellent, room was spacious enough for 2 adults and one 16 year old, the breakfast is outstanding as was the service. The is a pool which my wife and son enjoyed whilst I sat with a beer enjoying the view of the gardens and grounds. All in all a very good hotel. Should we ever be back in the area I would certainly stay again and would recommend highly. Thanks for a great stay.

"very pleasant"
daniel_heller, 22 Juin 2017

A large room, a king-size bed, comfort, cleanliness, very quiet and very green. Access to the spa: shallow pool (1.20m) with time slots or adults can enjoy alone, hammam, sauna. Restaurant and bar very good

"OK for one or two nights during a business trip"
Nicolas_the_French, 22 Juin 2017

I slept 2 nights at the Balgeddie Hotel. I didn't have time to enjoy the swimming pool and other facilities. My room was OK, spacious, clean. A bit noisy but it's OK. Good location if you have to visite Glenrothes or have some busniess around. A bit far from Edinburg and the Airport (approx 45 minutes from the Airport). The problem is that you have to cross THE unique bridge which is overcrowded from 6:45 am in the morning and from 4:00 pm in the afternoon. Take margins !

"Nice hotel and restaurant"
jimmytim, 21 Juin 2017

My wife and I stayed here for two days last weekend. The hotel was very good with lovely grounds. The room was large with all facilities.whilst staying there we ate in the restaurant which I must say was very good and reasonably priced. The steak I had was cooked to perfection and my wife says her scampi was lovely. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. We will stay here whenever we are in glenrothes.

"Average food"
John R, 21 Juin 2017

The hotel had all the comforts you could want and very helpful staff who gave you excellent service. The bedrooms were spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The spa was first class. However the food was very average both at breakfast and dinner. At breakfast all forms of egg were overcooked and all dishes were accompanied by 2 slices of toast. Dinner choices looked good on the menu but their plating and taste was poor. A lot must have come from a freezer with little thought.

"Just NO!!!"
Lilyb1972, 07 Juin 2017

I picked this hotel because I thought it looked like it had an 'old worldly charm' to it. Really it was just old! We stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting family. Upon entering the reception we felt it looked very clinical and cold, my husband said it looked like the entrance to a hospital. Upon booking I asked for a quiet room and we were put in a room directly above the dumster bins, so it was noisy and when we opened the window, also smelly! The room was so noisy, it just ruined the weekend. I went out to a chemist and purchased ear plugs the next morning! We didnt book breakfast, as we were eating out with our family. However on the day of checkout we went down to get something to eat at about 10am before checking out, and we were told if we went into the restaurant we could get bacon rolls and a coffee. We waited for 15 minutes and no one came to serve us. The bed was huge, but super uncomfortable. The middle just sank away, and therefore we each had to sleep on the edge, so that we didnt sink in the middle. My husband said that the last time he seen a shower curtain was in the movie Psycho! This place is in desperate need of refurbishment. It could be great, but sadly is just NOT! NEVER AGAIN!

"Evening meal"
tamer B, 05 Juin 2017

I visited here with my wife, and the food was absolutely amazing. Big, good quality meals with wonderful flavour. The best thing however, was the service. We were served by a wonderful young woman named Kayleigh. She went above and beyond for myself and my wife, and was happy to do so. Made the whole expirence a 10/10. Will gladly go back simply due to Kayleigh.

"What a shock such an amazing hotel"
neilpreston28, 31 Mai 2017

Okay so this was booked due to me looking for cost savings while attending meetings in Edinburgh. Yes the drive into the city is 45 minutes but after finding this hotel I feel it's well worth it. Upon arrival I thought is this right. A very quiet quant cul de sac but sure enough I had arrived. The hotel dates back some years how many I am unsure but boasts a lovely building and beautiful gardens. The staff are polite friendly and offered to escort our luggage to our rooms. It offers a pool jacuzzi steam room which all look clean and comfortable not used at this time but I have had a nosey, The food and drinks are fair and reasonable and the room I have backs onto the gardens with local parking and is huge. So beautiful. I'm yet to try the food but given my experience so far I am sure I will be pleased. This hotel is great for families business couples alike. I will be booking again when visiting. This is a genuine hidden gem.

"Birthday weekend treat"
May F, 29 Mai 2017

I booked through Booking.com this time and I ask for walk in shower if they have one as I have some mobility problems that make a shower over a bath difficult unless there are hand rails. Within about 15 mins the jolted phoned me to say they didn't have a room, as I needed. A room for 3 but that was a fault of the website I only needed for 2 people. She immediately checked who was in their accessible room and shifted us into it. Impressed!, we arrived and checking was good informing me we had that room and all went smoothly. Room very large as was the toilet with the very accessible room facilities. I'm a retired nurse who has worked with wheelchairs and it was very suitable. It was a very warm weekend so the only thing missing was Air con. I asked if they had a fan and got one on request which was affective. Dinner in the evening was very good and service efficient, if anything too efficient. wine was a bit warm but it was replaced with a cool bottle. Bed was large and very comfortable and as I usually say "I'm fussy about my beds". Hotel was very quiet considering they were catering a wedding as well. Relaxed dress code which suits us. Breakfast in the morning was very good as well with a variety of juices, bread, cereal, fruit and cooked. Grounds were well maintained and parking available as was free wifi.

"EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT! "
Karen S, 29 Mai 2017

Our daughter was getting married and we were nervous but there was no need as the hospitality was 1st class. The staff were approachable and very friendly and nothing was too much effort. The hotel was spotless and the gardens were exceptional. Food was amazing and would highly recommend this hotel for future venues. They also have excellent lesuie facilities which were used daily, especially the pool with my grandsons. Clean towels provided at all times. Our stay was topped off by us having the hottest weekend of the year so far. Thank you to all of the staff. 5 stars!!!

"Lovely!"
Emma S, 29 Mai 2017

A beautiful location with wonderful staff made an enjoyable wedding absolutely superb. Great food and rooms made our stay very memorable. Many thanks to all of the staff. The ceremony was outside in the garden which was stunning, made even better on the hottest day of the year so far. Would love to return as soon as I get rid of my hangover. My jaw is sore from smiling. Thanks again.

"Wonderful base to explore Fife"
WickersWorld50, 24 Mai 2017

We booked our room 6 months ago in a Best Western Sale. It was excellent value with Bed, Breakfast and Dinner inclusive. The room was on the top floor with views of the Lomond Hills, and it was light and airy. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the wait staff were a little disorganised, we sometimes got things twice or not at all. The food was excellent with generous portions. Its central location in Fife is excellent for exploring the area. It is located in a quiet wooded residential area and has a large garden. It is near Falkland Palace (NTS), the historic town of Dumfermline, and coastal towns of Fife. For those without a car it is a short walk to an half hourly bus service into the centre of Glenrothes where are good bus connections to many parts of Fife, St. Andrews, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

"Customer service at its best"
Rhona M, 22 Mai 2017

Booked this for a short trip to Scotland for a family gathering. We arrived late and after finding the hotel and having a small checkin issue we were made to feel extremely welcome by the reception staff and the night staff Steve. We had not eaten or drank for a good while before arrival and Steve opened the bar and made us sandwiches before taking us to our room 218 which was up in the eves of the main house. The room was extremely comfortable. We had tea and coffee facilities iron ironing board and a hairdryer. The bathroom was more than adequate with a good shower. If I had any criticism it would be the floorboards creak like mad!!! Even the lightest step made creaks but as there was nobody under my sister and I it probably was not a problem. Also be aware there are no lifts in this side of the house so ask for lower floor rooms if you struggle with stairs!. The view from this room was limited due to the dorma skylight windows but it looked out onto the car park to us it was not an issue as we were out most of the time. Breakfast was pre booked and fantastic always hot and well cooked and quick service too. The staff are amazing so friendly and accommodating nothing was too much trouble. The price of the meals was very reasonable and very good value as the meals were huge! We had a very lovely comfortable stay at Balgeddie House and would love to say a huge thank you to everyone we met whilst staying there ,you are all so lovely it's difficult to single out anyone. Thank you from the two English ladies who were born in Scotland we will definitely be coming back to stay again.

"Worth a visit!"
LocalFoodieBoy, 21 Mai 2017

Better Half and I spent a night here in April and well worth it! Good value for an excellent room, modern, clean and spacious. Good facilities too with pool, spa etc but book in advance of your spouse wants any treatments! Only criticism is lack of decent space at bar, And when there is a wedding on, space is at a premium. Plenty parking available even when busy. Breakfasts were good and plentiful. Restaurant menu was a little limited and seemed more like upmarket pub grub than haute cuisine...but quality was good and service was fine.

"Overpriced and dated "
soobroo99, 11 Mai 2017

Stayed for one night. Queue st reception. Very arrogant staff. Had problems finding hotel and had to call. They gave me a different postcode Room was way up in the eaves opposite s fire door. Struggled to get luggage up the tiny staircase. Once in the room. The decor was stuck in the 1970s. Massive big bed. Far too big for the room. Shower curtain too long due to small walls so it draped into the bath and you ended up standing in 6 " of dirty water £75 for room only. Never again

"great staff !!"
Mark M, 10 Mai 2017

Very seldom do you instantly feel at home and able to be yourself. I felt as though I was a personal guest rather than another number. Is it an amazing hotel with amazing food ? - no is the quick answer but it was a very nice stay and had the personal touches in the services which are very rare. I LIKE to be treated like a regular rather than someone who has simply paid to be there and this is what I got. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and the hotel itself whilst seeming like two separate entities (a spa and traditional hotel) all within a housing estate when I expected a country retreat didn't spoil the experience. I recommend this hotel as a base ... Glenrothes is not a beauty spot .. cheap and very very cheerful

"Very helpful."
Davieq, 01 Mai 2017

This is really just to say that the staff at Balgeddie House Hotel wee superb. We had booked a one night stay for ourselves and our 3 year old grandson through booking.com only to find that after travelling a fair distance that there were no rooms and Booking.com had gone and told us anyway that there were rooms available. The staff were saying that Booking.com had done the same thing twice that week already. The staff were great and managed to find us a room in a hotel close by and although it did not have a swimming pool, the biggest reason we chose Balgeddie, they very kindly offered us free use of all their lesuire facilities, which we did. Morale of this story DON'T use BOOKING.COM we certainly won't use them again.

"A gem in Glenrothes"
Deirdre H, 28 Avril 2017

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel so much we rebooked for a second night. The staff were friendly, the breakfast which was included was delicious and the gym and pool facilitates were very well maintained.

"Unsatisfied guest"
Breenieeee, 12 Avril 2017

Appalling service. Went to have dinner in the restaurant at 20:58, no staff to be seen for ten minutes. Then after asking the receptionist to find someone from the restaurant after 21:00 was told restaurant was closed!!! Offered or a jacket potato or sandwich from the room service menu. A poor substitute for a warm meal when I after all arrived in the restaurant before 21:00. Will not be staying here again!!!

"Weekend stay "
clairegaryth, 31 Mars 2017

Really nice hotel well priced and very clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Only issue we had was not having hot water on the second water which was pretty inconvenient! Spoke to the lady on the reception desk who arranged for us to have showers in the spa/swimming area. Apart from this we enjoyed our stay!

"Weekend away"
buzzbomb11, 27 Mars 2017

This hotel is ideal if you have a dog travelling with you,we were put in a room at the top of the hotel at the end which was great as nobody was passing our door keeping our dog calm, the hotel it's self is lovely and there is plenty of space for your pooch to run around we even had our breakfast delivered to our room. The only thing about Glenrothes is the roundabouts which drove me mad.

"Still an excellent place to stay"
Alistair S, 18 Mars 2017

Just over 2 years since we last stayed here. This time a gathering of the clan for a family do, I think 21 of us stayed here this time including 3 little ones. My wife and I stayed for a week, the others for the weekend. The accommodation is still of the highest standard, with really comfortable beds. The food as good as ever, from breakfast, snacks through to dinner, and the buffet laid on for our 'do' was exceptional for the cost. ALL of the staff were superb and most helpful in every way.The whole party was of the same opinion (and we were thanked for finding it). A real gem.

"Doesn't seem like a Best Western"
Danielle D, 09 Mars 2017

Stayed for a couple of nights and I have to say, this is nothing like any other Best Western I've seen. This is a beautiful property and the rooms are spacious and light. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and there were no complaints on the food at all. The waiting staff seemed to be very inexperienced and I believe a couple of them were new on the night. We did take a long time for our mains to be taken away so it kind of ruined our appetite for dessert. We did mention this to the bar/restaurant manager and he apologised and took some money off our bill. The swimming pool was nice as well as the steam room and sauna. We stayed and drove into Edinburgh but it was rather a long way (not the hotels fault at all!)

"Lovely stay"
manda_lam85, 08 Mars 2017

This was my second time staying at this hotel after a wedding. Free upgrade on arrival and able to check in early! The rooms are very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend and will be returning in the future.

"So relaxed"
magsinnes, 27 Novembre 2016

Just back from spending a couple of nights here. Our room was lovely, spacious, warm and comfortable, though another tub chair would have been nice. Breakfast and dinner were really nice, the waiting staff were all really pleasant. The only criticism would be to get rid of the frozen McDs type fries, they have no place on a dinner plate.

"Relaxed freindly hotel"
Julie M, 20 Novembre 2016

Arrived hear on 17th november for two nights stay .we were in room 202 ..very spacious room .large bed very comfortable ..corner bath with shower abouve .had breackfast and evening meal i can recommend the steack pie ..leisure facitities were great we enjoyed the steam room sauna and pool .noticed a few cobwebs hanging around but no spiders . Would stay again as staff very friendly and helpfull .

"Wedding venue"
tillyMurphy, 15 Novembre 2016

Stayed here on the 11th for my sister's wedding and what a spectacular day the staff made it from check in to check out every member of staff was happy smiley and helpful. Great wedding venue. Spa looked great- rooms were a good size and well equipped. Bar prices for food and drink were excellent too. I would definitely stay again .

"Nice hotel and great whisky selection"
Jason F, 07 Novembre 2016

Visited for a one night stay on business and found the hotel warm, welcoming and comfortable. Food was good but not great although the single malt selection in the bar was fantastic. A special mention to the bar man (sorry I didn't catch his name) who was very knowledgable with his whisky and a good conversationalist

"Autumnal"
Chris L, 03 Novembre 2016

Spent two nights here in Room 202 which is in the old part of the hotel which is apparently listed. It seems to have an interesting history. However, if you struggle with stairs request a room in the newer part of the hotel as the old part has no lifts. The room was struggling to live up to its billing a little. It was large enough but smelt of damp (we tracked it down to the shower curtain and informed reception) and felt like it needed airing. Having said that it was warm and comfortable and the bed was huge. Breakfast was good and plentiful although the coffee was a little stewed for my liking. There is a pool and gym although we didn't get the chance to try them out.

"2nd visit wasn't so good"
James S, 01 Novembre 2016

Its a nice enough hotel with well appointed modern rooms above the leisure complex. The walls however, must be very thin as the guests conversation in the next door room could clearly be heard even though they were not speaking particularly loudly. Food was fine, but nothing exceptional. Modifications have taken place in the dining room since our previous visit a couple of years ago, but not for the better in our opinion as its taken away some of the character. Leisure facilities are first rate with great gym facilities and a superb swimming pool

"An ok hotel"
Nick Y, 01 Novembre 2016

An ok hotel, didn't want to get my eyeballs ripped out having a meal there, so went to domino's pizza just a few miles away, If you are Iain a satnav to get to the hotel, make sure you follow the STREET NAME and not postcode as it takes you elsewhere

"Lovely staff, and great value"
scotsbluebell123, 01 Novembre 2016

We recently stayed in the Balgeddie, whilst attending a function at the nearby Balbirnie House Hotel. We were greeted at check-in by a friendly lady (didn't pick up her name) who informed us that we had been given an upgrade. This was a lovely surprise and much appreciated as we had already been given a Best Western employee rate. Room - 241, is a huge room with a very comfortable superking size bed, in the Garden Room annexe. The bathroom was spotless, and modern, and the shower was fantastic. This was so peaceful and had lovely views of the garden. We dined in the brasserie, and both really enjoyed our meals, which were plentiful, and freshly & quickly prepared. The menu suited us perfectly, more like a bar menu, but just what we wanted. Kim, the waitress was friendly, and efficient. She was equally as bubbly when she served us our cooked to order breakfasts the next day, which were delicious. We joined friends for a drink in the bar area, which is very basic, and lacked atmosphere, could do with dimming lights, and a bit of modernisation, but was comfortable. Unfortunately we didn't have time use the leisure facilities, so can't comment. When waiting for our taxi to the station, we met one of the owners, who was a very friendly and exuberant character! All in all an excellent stay which was great value for money.

"A very comfortable stay"
LittleOllyTopCrew, 01 Novembre 2016

Stayed one night with family (party of 4 with 2 dogs) at Balgeddie and paid £55 per room on Booking.com (no breakfast). Despite the access through a residential area Balgeddie was a pleasant surprise being a handsome, historic building in good order with well maintained grounds and plenty of parking and though slightly dated (or maybe just not to my more modern personal taste), the interior was comfortable, welcoming and well maintained. We stayed in the old part of the house (209 and 212) and did not experience the noise issues described by other reviewers. The rooms and ensuites were spotlessly clean and the linens clean, fresh and crisp. There was a good choice of tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, a large TV and big fluffy towels. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and warm. For us a huge bonus was that well behaved pets were allowed - a heartfelt thank you Balgeddie. The spotless pool, sauna and steam room were a treat and our meals were delicious, service was good and we took over a lovely window seat overlooking the lawns. A very relaxing, enjoyable evening. We found all the staff to be pleasant, helpful and friendly, particularly the young lady on reception who could not have been more helpful. The easy to access, free wi-fi throughout the hotel worked a treat. Highly recommended.

"Possibly the worst service I have experienced - So rude!"
Stuart W, 31 Octobre 2016

Last weekend our family hired the function room and we all stayed at the hotel. We must have spent over £3000 at this hotel between us, you would think they would have made our visit special - far from it. When we arrived at the hotel, the first member of staff was brilliant. Every single member of staff that works for the hotel needs to have customer service lessons from your the pregnant receptionist. The experience soon deteriated from this point. To mention a few issues: 1) The room was freezing cold and no one bothered to help us out. 2) The bar staff was very rude and made me stand for half an hour whilst they tried to sort out there mess of mixing orders up. 3) We asked reception to call us a taxi and we're told sorry we don't do that - heres the number yet we saw the same member of staff call a taxi for another guest. 4) We booked the function room and were promised various facilities. We were then told upon arrival that they wasn't included and we had to pay extra. We were then made out to be liars until the hotel manager eventually found the E-mais that were sent to us. 5) Missing beds from the room so on the first night one of our families all had to share one bed. 6) Breakfast staff forgetting orders and us having to repeat orders numerous times. 7) Staff being so rude and unwilling to help. The Manager of the hotel was very unhelpful, it's no wonder his staff are just as rude. 8) No apologies made for all the issues we faced this weekend. We will not be using this hotel again, and would recommend that you don't either. Stay well clear.

"Comfortable and good food"
watsokd, 30 Octobre 2016

Stayed 2 nights .... welcoming reception and happy to accept dogs. Bedroom spacious but a bit tired decoration wise. Room cleaned daily and good sized clean bathroom although lacked hot water on second morning. Excellent menu with good choice and well prepared and presented food ... also good value. We had continental breakfast and very happy with choices available to us. Staff friendly throughout our stay. Magnificent grounds around the house and plenty of dog walking opportunities in the immediate vicinity.

"Good value and excellent service"
happyj660, 28 Octobre 2016

Had a short weekend visit to this hotel. The hotel is very nice, staff are friendly and overall value for money. There is a swimming pool in the hotel and whilst it is small, it was warm and lovely to take a quick swim. The facilities were very clean.

"Wonderful stay! :)"
RRennie_12, 26 Octobre 2016

This hotel was recommended to us by a friend. It was a little bit out of Glenrothes itself but not a problem. The grounds were lovely and the hotel itself was brilliant. Really clean and fresh and the staff were excellent. The room we had was a great size and the pool and steam room were just what we needed to relax. Had a meal on the second night at the Brasserie and it was lovely with lots of choice. Found it hard to find each time we went back due to all the nearby roundabouts - even with sat nav! - so a little map or printout from hotel would be useful as the postcode took us to a housing estate! All in all - a great few days stay! :)

"Best part of Glenrothes ?? "
willshields, 23 Octobre 2016

Hotel is in middle of nice residential area. Really quiet, plenty of car ?? parking. My room was massive, the bed was massive, the wet room was massive. Facilities at hotel are pretty good, gym & swimming pool. Very comfortable bed. With coffee/kettle etc. Decent size tv. All staff very very ?? good. Breakfast staff in particular. I really did like this place and will almost certainly stay again when in area. Thank you to all staff at Balgeddie House. Will

"Balgeddie Hotel"
Mark B, 21 Octobre 2016

Wow what a gem, they great you with enthusiasm and it just gets better and better. I was there for business and had to take my dogs, who are treated as guests as well. Great Hotel, prime location. Kim and Hannah staff who can't do enough, I had to leave early on my last day before breakfast and they arrange a packed lunch which I was asked what I would like in the lunch! I have spent a lot of nights in hotels in the past and this rates right up there with the best of them, great price, only downside, I would like to see more products on the evening menu, but then I am now being picky. Don't take my word for it, stay and have a great experience.

"Unjustified extra charges"
Emma C, 19 Octobre 2016

I feel it isn't fair to give a hotel 1 star for 1-2 incompetent staff members so I gave it a 3 star here are my reasons why: lovely hotel really enjoyed the spa good breakfast nice seating areas comfy beds. Here is the downside: wedding food was lacklustre at best. I was charged an extra on my visa over 4 weeks after staying here citing soiled linens as the cause... On the letter they claimed the extra charges were because of bed wetting which is absolute nonsense as I can 100% guarantee that no one staying in that room wet the bed or soiled it in anyway. The person I was staying with was unwell and had a fever causing them to sweat in the bed but certainly not urinate in it! These charges are ridiculous and seem like a thinly veiled attempt at making the hotel extra money off of an innocent persons back- not to mention the overall embarrassment of accusing two fully grown adults of bed wetting when no such thing occurred. I think it is beyond ridiculous that this has happened and I am livid.

"Weekend break"
mandres, 12 Octobre 2016

Had a lovely weekend with friends..hotel was great staff could not dip enough for us..had our dinner in hotel lovely food ..rooms were really spacious..looking forward to a return visit ,maybe stay longer

"Weekend getaway"
Audrey M, 10 Octobre 2016

Room - 241, family room with king size bed. In an annexe which was nice, but only access to main part of hotel was by going outside. Very comfortable bed. Lovely view of garden. Large modern room. Few stains on carpet and toilet seat needs replacing (a little stained!) but these are minor things. Restaurant - meals were excellent. Friendly helpful staff. Quick service. Good atmosphere. Highly recommend the Toffee & honeycomb cheesecake! Bar area - the bar area was small but warm and welcoming and well stocked. The attached lounge area didn't have the same "warm" feeling. Quite brightly lit and basic furnishings. Could be made into a warm and comfortable lounge area. Didn't use the pool or gym facility so can't comment. Reception - this is a bit odd. Entered hotel by main front door and looked like there had been a reception area to the left . Instead, the reception is along the corridor to the right, along with reception for spa area. Friendly helpful staff. This hotel is excellent for a quiet relaxing getaway. If you are into going to pubs and clubs within walking distance of where you stay, this is not for you. The weather was good to us and enjoyed people watching as we sat having a drink on the patio there were wedding photos being taken on the lawn.

"Okay hotel"
Huw C, 05 Octobre 2016

Hotel was okay. Nice building and pleasant staff. Room okay but a tad dated, and a smallish TV with freeview only. Leisure club looked good but I didn't have gym out with me. Bar a tad old fashioned, no TV or music, and most people seemed to grab a quick drink before heading to the restaurant. Evening meal in the 'bistro' was more pub grub than bistro. Food was okay but hated the frozen McD's type chips. Breakfast okay, but why do they have to bring you the bill to sign whilst half way through? The had my room number and surely could have waited until I'd finished. Okay overall, just a tad dated for me, as usually stay in international four or five star hotels, so presume this is a typical three star UK experience.

"Great first night of long road trip."
72GG_travels, 04 Octobre 2016

Best Western Balgeddie House was a comfortable first night after a long travel day of over 24 hours. It was within reasonable driving distance from EDI and situated in a quiet neighborhood. Our room had a king bed and a modern well-equipped bathroom. Room opened up onto a large grassy garden area. We didn't have the time to enjoy the spa facilities.

"Comfortable Home from Home"
Tim W, 02 Octobre 2016

In the area on business and stayed here. Lovely hotel with great facilities. I used the pool which was very clean and a good size. The room was nice as well with a very comfortable bed. I had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed both. WiFi in the room was fast and since I was there on business had no issues catching up on emails. Will definitely be back.

"Very pleasant stay...."
Steve19691969, 29 Septembre 2016

On arrival at the hotel I was found the reception staff to be very helpful and friendly. Once in the room I was pleasantly surprised by the size. Loads of space and the bed was comfortable and wider than it was long. Both bedroom and bathroom were very clean. I ate in the restaurant on the evening having the salmon, bought some extra portion of sweet potato fries, which was a mistake as the meal was large enough.....even for a big kid like me. I didn't arrive early enough to use the fitness room or gym, but it all looked clean and not busy at all. Over all found the stay very pleasant. Would I stay here again......yes, without a doubt.

"Sunday lunch"
Kivvy, 28 Septembre 2016

Would certainly recommend this hotel for a nice lunch. Visited as a party of 6 adults 1 child and a baby. We were served by a lovely young lady who was very pleasant. The food was tasty and portions are more than ample. Decent bottle of house wine and the prosecco was palatable although not chilled. Great speciality coffee. Hoping to book soon for Hogmany Party as we've missed it the last 2 years due to illness.

"Lovely Hotel"
patricia20, 21 Septembre 2016

We were here to celebrate our Golden Wedding , and the entire experience was wonderful ! We all thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool , and having drinks on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden , before a delicious dinner made for a great evening . The staff were very helpful too .

"Great Hotel "
Liza G, 18 Septembre 2016

We made a last minute booking at this hotel, had never been before and we were very pleasantly surprised, we stayed in the newer part of the hotel in room 231, the room was very big with a comfortable king size, very modern and spotlessly clean. We booked a table at dinner and the food was amazing, only negative point I had was there were too many chips lol, we then went into the cocktail lounge for a few drinks and were surprised to discover all the different kinds of whisky, needless to say my husband had to try a few! Drinks are very reasonable in price. The pool is a great size too! There is a good selection at breakfast, we opted for the full Scottish breakfast and it was really good. We couldn't fault this hotel and we have never met such friendly staff who go out their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay! We will definitely be back!

"Nice hotel"
rahh, 16 Septembre 2016

Came here on a business trip for two nights. Bar staff very friendly. It was a bit warm but reception found a spare fan for me which made sleeping more comfortable. Had dinner in the restaurant which was so so but reasonably priced and good service

"Very average and poor value for money"
GLKSmith, 11 Septembre 2016

We attended a wedding nearbyand hotels in Glenrothes were generally full so we thought we would splash out and have a good night's stay. We were received by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. There is a new annex with a pool, spa, and rooms so the reception is to the side and disappointing (like entering the Council pool). We sat out on the patio with ashtrays full from the night before. Our room was in the attic with a cum ceiling, small, old, dated, and old plastic curtain over the bath, not ideal in this day and age. Creaky stairs and corridors (dirty carpet) don't help a good night's sleep. The real disappointment was the breakfast, despite a spare dinning room we were told to wait a while and when it came the quality was very poor, inedible scrambled egg micro'd to death. We must say the staff were very helpful an friendly but sorry, £120 for a poor attic room, there is much better value out there.

"Excellent"
bobcl66, 05 Septembre 2016

Hi I visited the Best Western Balgeddie house hotel Glenrothes and I loved it brilliant room, clean, comfortable big bed good food lovely staff. I couldn't have asked for more. Just to be aware it can be a little tricky to find don't go with the postcode in your satnav get a postcode from the hotel

"Clean, comfortable and very friendly"
oli51, 28 Août 2016

We stayed for 3 nights in a large family room (242) in the annexe. The room was very clean and comfortable. A king sized bed for the adults, double sofa bed for one child and single bed for the second child. The room opened out onto a large, grassy garden area. The bathroom was excellent, with large walk-in shower, bath and shower and two wash hand basins in addition to the toilet. Our young granddaughters enjoyed using these together! The swimming pool is excellent. Indeed, one of the best hotel pools we have experienced. 17m long, extremely clean, with easy access, towels and changing rooms etc. There is a small gym, steam room and sauna. Breakfasts were good with wide choice of hot dishes cooked to order, although our boiled eggs were never soft. Additional breads etc would have been appreciated, to compliment the croissants. We dined in the restaurant twice. Food is well-cooked and presented at reasonable cost. Children's menu is good but they can also choose from the main menu and have smaller portions. All told, a very good experience and highly recommended. We will visit again when in the area.

"Last minute. Good stay"
Ross C, 27 Août 2016

Booked last minute to attend function in Rothes Halls. Quick check in. Rooms spacious high ceilings. Breakfast was excellent and for taking dogs had a separate eating place. Will think about going with the dog. Pool looked great and clean, didn't use. Cosy wee bar area.

"Will return "
jimmytim, 22 Août 2016

My wife and I were on a weekend break to visit family we stayed in Balgeddie house hotel and have nothing but praise for a excellent hotel. The grounds are fantastic and sitting outside with a beer in the sun was a joy.The room we had was 237 no view but very spacious and plenty storage good shower and very comfortable bed.The staff were very courteous an efficient. We shall be using the hotel again hopefully sooner than later.

"Excellent wedding venue"
michael c, 18 Août 2016

My wife and I recently got married at Balgeddie on the 29th July 2016. Its a great venue and everything went like clockwork. The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. Even when we booked our wedding every meeting we had was really good and did everything we were looking for at our wedding. We would highly recommend this venue if you're looking to get married in this area.

"A real chill-out place"
Carol G, 09 Août 2016

This was our 4th time at this hotel, and I can't wait to go back! Such a lovely place with very friendly helpful staff. The grounds are beautiful, and the food is amazing. The Spa facilities are so good, and there is a gym as well. Nothing is too much trouble for the people who run it. A real Country House hotel with a family run feel.

"What are you people looking at?"
Mark S, 08 Août 2016

This hotel suits it's surroundings suits it's building and is by no means old and outdated. CHARACTER I think is the word you are looking for. The staff are so friendly, and yes EVEN the younger ones!!!!! Our room is a family deluxe garden room and I must say we stayed at a 4 star hotel in Leicester last week and this place beats it hands down on ALL fronts!!! The breakfast is superb, the swimming pool and facilities are spot on and I will have no quarms about booking for another holiday. Balgeddie house hotel............well done. Spot on.

"Relaxing Stay In A Peaceful Setting"
prostring, 07 Août 2016

Stayed here for four nights recently. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Ate here for breakfast and dinner. The Menu had a varied selection that caters for most tastes, and the breakfast choice was Continental or Full Scottish which was a great way to start the day. There is a Gym and Spa with a pool, steam room and sauna which we used during our stay and was a great addition. The room was a Deluxe Double overlooking the rear gardens. There was plenty of space in the room and the bathroom was modern with a walk in shower. Overall an enjoyable stay and I would definitely look to staying here again if I return to the area.

"Average night "
MScott18, 31 Juillet 2016

We stayed here whilst attending a wedding nearby. The receptionist was friendly and directed us to our room. We had a deluxe room upstairs. Nice view. The room was very dated, and the bathroom had a shower over the bath with a shower curtain. No shower cap etc or shampoo , just a thing on the wall with soap. We had a toastie at lunch which was less than average. Cheap wholegrain bread, with poor quality ham and cheese. The tables were dirty and had cigarettes on them ( we sat outside). Breakfast was average & looking out onto the nice lawn ash trays full of cigarettes etc which is not appealing. Dead flowers in the hall. The hotel needs a bit of tlc and attention to detail.

"Excellent "
KarinA A, 29 Juillet 2016

Super clean bedroom and bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Staff were helpful friendly and courteous. A special Thank You to Dave who put our golf bags in the cellar to dry and to Colin who carried our suitcases up and down the stairs. A perfect ending to our last night in Scotland.

"Nice room / lovely gym and pool"
Goldenwonder43, 28 Juillet 2016

The room was large and I had a double room for single occupancy and was charged half the price of the double rate [£31.50] on a room only basis. It was clean and the toilet facilities / shower room were good. I used the gym in the afternoon of my arrival and again on the morning of my departure and it was not busy, even though it was open to the public. I would use the hotel again on a future visit to Glenrothes.

"Wedding Day - 22/07/16"
Gordon S, 27 Juillet 2016

We had out wedding day at Balgeddie House Hotel on the 22nd July 2016. Both the hotel and it's staff are a credit to the wedding industry, they couldn't do enough for us on the day and the location is simply stunning. This hotel won't break the bank for a stay over and has a wide range of rooms to suit which our guests took advantage of. Both the food and rooms were excellent. I can't recommend this hotel enough for a stayover or wedding. Thank You Balgeddie, you made our perfect day perfect!

"Worst Western Hotel!"
Gorgonzilla, 20 Juillet 2016

We attended a wedding at the hotel and, upon check-in, we enquired about breakfast as it is included in our room rate for the evening. We were informed that it only started at 8am on a Sunday. We unfortunately had to leave by 7am to drive to Edinburgh to board a train to London to catch a flight. The elderly gentleman who checked us in assured us that he would arrange for an early breakfast and all we had to do was go to reception the next morning. However, when we arrived at reception at 7am, nobody knew anything about our breakfast and the poor receptionist didn't know what to say. Luckily we had our own take-away cups and he was kind enough to make us some hot beverages in our own cups. And thenwe got really lucky! He gave us each a banana that he found in the kitchen. What a lovely breakfast! I find this utterly disappointing and not worth the money I payed for the room – which was supposed to have included breakfast! An absolute rip-off.

"Fantastic wedding venue!!!"
lornanan, 17 Juillet 2016

The reviews on Trip Advisor are absolutely true...this is the best venue ever for a wedding. My son's wedding reception was here and many guests stayed over too. Hotel staff are amazing and so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them and everything is carried out in a friendly, relaxed manner but with total efficiency. From the drinks reception with excellent canapes through to the wonderful meal to the plentiful evening buffet, the food was superb. Many guests remarked on quality of food and how good it was to have it served piping hot! Thoroughly recommend!!!

"stay for 3 nights bed and breakast"
QUAILSNEST60, 15 Juillet 2016

We were over to see our new Grand daughter and decided to stay. Staff great our grand daughter was sick in the room and it was not a bother the staff could not have been nicer, even the next morning they came into the room to see if all was ok. Dog friendly hotel which was good as we had our Son dogs over. The food, staff everything fantastic will be back.

"Worth a stay for the great pool"
bumblebeeCumbria, 13 Juillet 2016

Situated along a residential road, our sat nav took us about 2 miles away so worth having written directions too! Friendly and efficient reception staff. Bedroom overlooked the car park so not the best view, I imagine those with a garden view were much better. All facilities worked, found the bed on the firm side and my husband found the pillows (6 provided in a king size bed) to be too hard and ended up in the middle of night using a bath towel for the pillow. Must admit sponge pillows are not very comfortable. We made full use of the pool which was wonderful - 17 m and spotlessly clean. The steam room was good, but the sauna doesn't allow the you to put on any water so somewhat disappointing. Changing rooms clean and a credit to whoever oversees this area. We stayed 2 nights and ate in both nights as it was more convenient however the food is very mediocre at best - Cullen Skink soup OK bread roll very ordinary, Venison obviously 'boil in a bag ' with a very sweet sauce and veg pretty tasteless. Ordered a salmon salad the next night which was much better and fresher and husband had a steak which he found acceptable. Wine not overpriced - around £20 so that was a saving grace. Breakfast is the usual buffet although nothing exciting with option of cooked food brought to the table. Sausage was not very meaty, mushrooms were sweet (!) bacon, scrambled egg and haggis all OK, tatie scone very doughy and inedible. Asked for the croissants to be warmed up and they were good.

"Wonderful "
Susan O, 28 Juin 2016

Had a 4 day 3 night stay at the Baldeddie Hotel. The hotel & grounds cannot be faulted. Beautiful setting for a wedding,at which we were a part of. Rooms excellent so was the annex which part of our family stayed in. All staff friendly & helpful & would like to thank the barman Jim who was very welcoming. Ample car parking space, reception staff very helpful. Pool area spotless. Would stay here again.

"cold and uninteresring"
Linda S, 23 Juin 2016

We went for dinner. French fries some peas and salad and a piece of haddock that was wafer thin. Paid 12 pounds for a poor quality meal. The piece of fish was an insult. What would be the cost of making this meal. Couple of pounds maybe. Would never go back.

"Beautiful, Welcoming Hotel"
Korin S, 15 Juin 2016

Very accomodating staff, stayed with 3 friends and my 5 year old daughter who absoloutely LOVERD the garden! Very relaxing and beautiful could have stayed far longer than we did (Long weekend) and the food was just lovely. Very reasonably priced! We slept better than we had in a long time! Thanks for a great stay we will definitely return!

"Nice Room, Skip the food (if not included)"
PatLivoniaMI, 09 Juin 2016

The room was nice, clean and just as described. Our stay(s) included breakfast, and have to say the restaurant needs a manager! Rather chaotic. Seemed short staffed, and I heard a lot of grumbling among the customers. Breakfast was not much better, but at least it was free.

"Business Trip"
MarkRobbo123, 09 Juin 2016

Nice presentable hotel on the outskirts of Glenrothes. Pleasant room although bathroom a little dated, with the only complaint being the shower a little weak. Even though my room was positioned above the fitness centre the room itself was very quiet and comfortable bed. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant, which was reasonably priced and had very attentive staff. Special thanks for offering too and providing me with some cereal, as I was having to leave the following morning prior to the kitchen officially opening. Used the gym which was well equipped.

"One night stay"
SteBrizz, 09 Juin 2016

Stayed for one night. Plenty of parking. Check in ok. Was only one person so had to wait whilst someone booked on the phone. Not their fault. Room was on 2nd floor which has skylights. 3rd time been put up there and would prefer proper windows to view more than the sky. Room large and clean. Bed hard but slept ok. Bathroom ok. floors creaky but it is an old building. Food was reasonable price and not bad. Overall a good stay

"Could have stayed forever,, just beautiful"
Simon C, 07 Juin 2016

We stayed in room 202 and it was just a Wonderful experience, helpful staff, peaceful and quiet not to mention picturesque hotel, beautiful cooked breakfast in the morning, will definitely come again! Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay :)

"Good value stay"
madmichele, 05 Juin 2016

Quiet ish room...a little fan noise from kitchen. Very polite staff...nice location. Comfy bed and TV works fine Breakfast was superb. Would stay again Didn't have time to use pool....imagine it would be a lovely wedding venue.

"Excellant stay at Balgeddie House"
Marlene N, 02 Juin 2016

This was a beautiful hotel with excellent staff. Good food and reasonably priced. Would happily stay here again. The garden room (room no.240, one of three) was exceptional with large windows overlooking the garden with a small terrace, very private. we enjoyed fabulous weather so were able to take full advantage.

"Excellent service"
Spleen999, 18 Mai 2016

Really can't fault this hotel The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, even when I was up at 03:30 in the mornings to go stalking Very clean and good facilities. Great pool and gym. Enjoyable breakfasts in bed. Well done to all of them for making a pleasurable stay

"Only one complaint"
mentalmummy, 15 Mai 2016

Visited in April and only found one fault, the person who gave this hotel a 3 star rating is obviously mad. Location, accommodation, food, facilities and in particular staff throughout our stay were fantastic. Our stay was at a "difficult" time for my sons and I however each and every member of staff made our time there much easier. Everyone was treated like royalty. In particular Maureen on reception was outstanding in her customer care. Previous posts mentioned noise from weddings/functions preventing sleep. There was a particularly "rowdy" wedding whilst we were there, our room was across the hall and we never heard a sound, only saw the after party results next morning! Excellent hotel, fantastic staff and thoroughly recommend a stay.

"Great week-end"
davidgF6684NT, 04 Mai 2016

We had a very relaxing week-end. The staff were very helpful the room we had (231) was clean and comfortable although to the front of the hotel was quiet. The meals we had in the restaurant were hot well served and delicious. The bar staff friendly and cheerful. Check in and out was quick and efficient. Thanks to all for the great week-end.

"Excellent Stay"
Colin M, 29 Avril 2016

Lovely hotel, great staff and facilities. Free use of the gy for guests is always a pleasing addition. Dinner and breakfast were tasty and the menus were good. Will definitely stay again soon Thanks!!

"Very Good"
sleep007, 11 Avril 2016

Not been here for a good few years having not always enjoyed the experience. Booked a last minute Sunday night stay in a deluxe room at a very good rate. Room was a great size, modern and impeccably clean. Walls were a bit thin such that I could hear the ladies next door chatting and then one of them snoring. Wifi was free and worked very well. Plenty of parking. Breakfast next morning was really quite good. Other than the thin walls I have to say I was impressed.

"Great Weekend Stay"
wlmx201, 06 Avril 2016

Recently returned from a weekend stay, and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful, and Tracy gave us some good tips about walks etc in the area. Food at the hotel could not be faulted, and the location was a great base for exploring some of Fife. Hope to visit the hotel again in the not too distant future.

"Great Hotel, good food and friendly helpful staff"
IMAK1000, 31 Mars 2016

My wife and I stayed for two nights. Our room 220 was on the top floor in the old part of the hotel and there are no lifts! Assistance with baggage is available. Creaky floors are the norm in the old part of the building and the wood for these comes from a pre-war scrapped luxury German liner! The property sits in its own grounds and is full of character. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner on both days. There was a wide choice of food and wine and the quality was excellent and the service first class from the friendly staff. The hotel has a pool and spa facilities. A courtesy Scotsman newspaper and free parking are also available. We really enjoyed our stay and would use the hotel again in the future.

"brilliant breakfasts - shame about the lack of lift"
janicecambs, 24 Mars 2016

Very comfortable hotel and beautifully warm on the coldest weekend for four years apparently. Breakfast out of this world - cooked to perfection and generously proportioned. We were on the 2nd floor and it never occurred to me that there would not be a lift but my husband suffers with his lungs and getting the suitcase up four flights of stairs nearly did for him but there had been no mention at reception about the lack of a lift and we were just directed into the original part of the hotel and no warning that the room was on the second floor nor offer of assistance despite our advancing years so that was disappointing. Swimming pool great and staff (especially in the bar) were very helpful. My son and his family had a garden room which they were very pleased with.

"romantic weekend break"
jenandian, 21 Mars 2016

Beautiful country hotel, lovely and traditional looking, very well presented, clean and tidy, room was fantastic, we were upgraded on arrival, our room had a fabulous bay window with window seating which had lovely views over the garden. We had an evening meal in the restaurant their was a good choice of food, which came and was well presented and very tasty, and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and do a very good job. We found the whole weekend relaxing and quiet, which is exactly what we went for.

"Nice hotel, set in residential area, will use again."
Carol H, 15 Mars 2016

Wanted to stay near Falkland so this was in a good location. Nice, clean and tidy hotel. Only staying overnight so didn't have time to use gym or pool. Would use again. Big room with big bed, massive windows overlooking the gardens at the back. Large ensuite. Decent food/breakfast. Good parking.

"Need upgrading"
Sarah N, 15 Mars 2016

This hotel is in a excellent location to explore the eastern area. Do not go to this hotel if you want to be comfortable. The heating in the old part of the building in uncontrollable and the staff, but not the general manager, are aware of this. It has been a long time since I have been in a hotel and could not wait to get a good night's sleep in my own bed back home. Avois room 203

"Happy Surprise"
george c, 13 Mars 2016

A last minute decision for a night away led to an excellent surprise. From the moment we arrived staff were pleasant and helpful. At reception we were lucky enough to be given an upgraded room. We had been a bit wary of the " pet friendly " description but the dogs we saw were well behaved and well supervised. The food and service was excellent. Great value for money.

"Great place too stay"
butty_12, 10 Mars 2016

A very friendly Hotel. A Hotel with lots of Character. Clean and well Presented.Old & New We have just come back, after staying at the Balgeddie Hotel. We were in room 203 which was a nice room spotless, also they welcome dogs.We had our jess with us.They even had doggie treats at reception. Jim who served us at the Bar was excellent, could not do enough for us,thats the type of person that makes a good hotel, infact all the staff were fantastic..Also all the meals were good.

"3 Night stay"
I8336HQmarkc, 08 Mars 2016

Stayed at this hotel for a long weekend, it is well signposted so easy to find. The hotel staff are very welcoming and provide good service, the food served is very good having tried breakfast and evening meals. The room was comfortable if a little warm (this was easily remedied by opening the window). All in all a good weekend

"Light lunch"
969chacha, 04 Mars 2016

Popped in here one Saturday lunchtime and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are 3menus to choose from the snack, main and smaller appetite menus all have a good choice. The staff were so accommodating and prices are reasonable. You can eat in the lounge or the restaurant both have lovely views over the beautiful gardens. Only complaint I had was the glasses were marked with lipstick, fingerprints etc. What would it take to shine them once removed from dishwaher.

"Great Hotel rooms"
stewartdick, 29 Février 2016

Second stay as its great for dogs very good hotel great room and the grounds and surrounding walks are excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpfull the room was large with great bathroom. A bag of treats for Orach the Golden retriever on arrival. Had light meals in the bar in evening very good Cullen Skink and goats cheese tart. The disappointing part was the cooked breakfast in the morning rubber eggs the cheapest possible sausages and bacon no effort made thrown onto the plate. I told the receptionist when leaving who she would pass on. The waitress appeared to avoid use when she saw what was being left. The only disappointment in a very good stay and this would be easily remedied. We will stay again

"one night break"
brimac2014, 28 Février 2016

"Returned for wedding anniversary "
vgreig, 21 Février 2016

We had our wedding reception here 6 years ago so the hotel obviously holds a lot of memories for us although it has since been extended. We were gifted a voucher for Christmas so decided to return for a night near our anniversary. I called to book and the staff were extremely helpful offering us the honeymoon suite for a good price. From start to finish all of the staff in the hotel were excellent. We had dinner in the restaurant, both ordered steaks which were cooked perfectly. The restaurant was busy but the staff were attentive and very friendly. The room was as we remembered, spacious, comfortable and with a massive bathroom. We managed to use the leisure facilities which were fantastic and being able to use them until 5pm on day of departure is a nice touch. I'm sure we will be back, hopefully sometime soon!

"Disappointing"
Helen S, 17 Février 2016

We got off to a bad start when we were told on arrival at 4.55pm that we could only have dinner at 5pm, 5.30pm or 8pm as they were busy (despite having booked 3 months earlier). The room was average, not very clean, uncomfortable bed - not up to the "deluxe room" we had expected. Can't fault the spa facilities. The food on the other hand I can. Our meal on the first night was venison which was so dry it was like eating cardboard. The produce used seems to be of a very low quality and the meal on the second night was even worse although, having opted for an easy option of lasagne, I found it hard to believe they could get that wrong. The pasta was overcooked and soggy. The plate was stacked high with what looked like McDonalds chips and one of the tomatoes in my salad had mould on it. The salad had no dressing whatsoever. On bringing this to the waiter's attention, we were approached by an elderly staff member who was posing as the manager and was not very apologetic and merely said the chef had been there for 20 years without complaint and offered us a coffee. I asked for herbal tea and was given normal tea so they couldn't even get that right. We weren't served by the same waiter twice.

"My dogs are made as welcome as the rest of my family "
L50fal, 15 Février 2016

Just back from another weekend at the Balgeddie House Hotel. We have stayed there before with our two daughters (11 & 12) and our two golden retrievers and when we had to go back down to Glenrothes we had no hesitation booking there again. When phoning to book the hotel I was so impressed that the receptionist remembered who we were and asked how my daughters and my dogs were! When we arrived at the hotel the dogs both got a goody bag full of dog treats which was such a lovely gesture. They had given us a huge room (202) which gave the dogs plenty room to move around however there are so many fantastic walks within Glenrothes, all they did was sleep when they were in the room. We didn't take the dogs down to breakfast this time as when I asked about having our breakfast in the lounge rather than the restaurant I was told they were very busy so would need to use the lounge which I did not have a problem with. But last time we stayed, we had our breakfast both mornings in the lounge which meant that the dogs could come down with us which was just fantastic! This hotel make your pets just as welcome as the rest of your family. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to go away as a whole family which includes their pets. Well done Balgeddie!

"Lovely hotel but the WiFi doesn't work in my room"
Kathleen W, 13 Février 2016

My husband and I and our 2 dogs spent two weeks touring Scotland and we booked in here for a few days at the end of the trip as my husband has family near by. The hotel is lovely, we booked room only but I did buy the breakfast one day. It was £7.50 for the continental. Unfortunately there was no fruit available but the rest of the breakfast was good. The Gym is good as is the sauna and pool but there is no Jacuzzi. We were in room 221 and the WIFI doesn't reach this room (it's on the 2nd floor ). I did call reception to see if it could be fixed, I was told there wasn't anything wrong with it but they'd reboot it anyway. It didn't make any difference and it didn't work on either of our phones or our IPAD. I notice it didn't really work until I got to the ground floor so don't expect WIFI in your room. However the hotel is well decorated in a traditional style. The room was clean and bright and the staff were friendly and they are very dog friendly. If they sorted the few small problems above I'd give it 5 stars with no hesitation.

"Ok hotel, but hugely let down by the service"
FamilyH68, 09 Février 2016

We booked two twin rooms, on arrival the receptionist told us that we had two doubles "the system doesn't tell us if it's a double or a twin" she said. Remarkably the receipt she handed us specified Twin Rooms, so sadly we felt lied to by her. She said that as we were dashing out to a party, that twin beds would be sorted for our return. In my room, that was a four foot long sofa bed that had seen many better years. We complained and they then put two new extra beds in one room, by then it was after midnight. Pretty poor indeed and we will not go back again.

"Most dog-friendly place I've ever stayed"
fozzibearr, 21 Janvier 2016

I booked an overnight at the Best Western, Balgeddie House for myself, my niece and our two dogs as the dogs were competing in the area early the next morning. Prior to booking I contacted the hotel direct to confirm that it had rooms available where the dogs could stay. The hotel is situated in a lovely quiet estate, parking is good and the building itself is beautiful. When we entered we went to check in, we passed through a garden room/conservatory type area where a couple with their dog were sitting to have their lunch, staff were happy to bring this through and the dog happily sat under the table while they ate. At reception I was presented with two bags of biscuits – one for each of them – what a lovely gesture, I have stayed at ‘dog friendly' hotels up and down the UK and have never been given anything like that, immediately I knew we truly were welcome. Inside the hotel is just beautiful, lovely traditional décor and furnishings – the room itself was on the first floor, a member of the hotel team was passing as I got to the stairs and offered to helped me with my bag as the smaller of my two dogs is a little arthritic and refused to do the stairs, I thought that it was very observant of her to notice as I had barely paused and it was so kind of her to help. The room itself was very spacious and again beautifully decorated, none of your usual flat-pack furniture here, the carpeting was a lovely creamy beige and the bathroom was very nicely done too – at this point I was very glad I always travel with blankets and beds when I bring the dogs. Before dinner we took the dogs down to the garden to get in some practice – wow, the gardens are beautiful, lovely flowers, trees and lawns manicured to perfection. At night there was a wedding reception at the hotel and I couldn't imagine a better setting, there was even a piper to greet the guests. Our room overlooked the car park and was just above the hotel entrance I have to say that we really didn't hear any noise from the reception even though there were people milling around . The beds and pillows in the room were incredibly comfortable and we all slept very well. Checkout was very efficient and staff were helpful when I asked for alternative routes back to Glasgow avoiding the Forth Road Bridge. Whether taking my dogs or not I will definitely be booking here again if I have something on in that area.

"Three night stay"
Gordon W, 12 Janvier 2016

Perfect hotel, perfect staff and customer relations and perfect breakfast. Central location for Fife, dog friendly and period building; slightly marred by the gym extension, however, will detract from anyone's stay. Guests have free use of the gym , pool and steam room also.

"Excellent value "
JEHSmith, 19 Décembre 2015

I stayed here for one night when attending a function. Booking a room for one only a few days before my stay, I had anticipated a small and basic room, especially as I had been quoted an unexpectedly cheap price for B&B, but on arrival found the room to be impressively large, and very comfortable, with a Superking sized bed. Everything was immaculately clean, the bathroom did what it needed to, with good water pressure and over-the-bath shower. Breakfast was a basic buffet or cooked-to-order Full Scottish, which I didn't have but understand was very good. The coffee was certainly good, and service was efficient and very friendly. Use of the pool and spa was free and guests were invited to use the facilities for the rest of the day, even after they had checked out. The pool was clean and well maintained, a comfortable temperature, and quiet. The sauna was hot and dry, as you would hope! The changing rooms were spotlessly clean. I have stayed in hotels across Europe, and in all price-brackets. This one was amongst the best, offering a comfortable stay, and excellent value for money in a very friendly hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

"Rab mur "
Robert M, 13 Décembre 2015

This is a nice family run hotel with pleasant staff especially camilla on reception & kimberley & jim in restaurants. Leisure facilities were great with a good gym & a good selection of classes throughout the day & evening. The food in the restaurant was lovely with very attentive staff.

"Not what I expected"
Neil M, 03 Décembre 2015

I booked here for one night as I was working in Glenrothes. There was ample parking on arrival and the reception was very efficient. My room was on the top floor and was a good size and clean. On the evening I ate in the restaurant and both the meal and drinks offered excellent value for money which is not typical of a Best Western. Breakfast was great too....

"A Lovely Hotel"
John B, 29 Novembre 2015

My wife an I stayed here last night for a local event. Balgeddie House is a lovely old Hotel situated to the north of the Glenrothes to Leslie road. We had requested a Deluxe King Bed Room and we were not disappointed. Room 202, situated 1st Floor, is an original size room 18ft wide with adjoining bathroom of generous proportion, overlooking the entrance of the property. Everything was very clean and there were lovely old world touches throughout the Hotel and a lovely staircase. We had a lovely three course Lunch for £15 each and the house red was about £15 a bottle. The breakfast was fantastic with buffet for cereals etc. The cooked breakfast was served to table with tea, toast etc. as was the porridge we ordered, which was the best we have tasted in a long time. A good choice of cooked breakfast options were available. The staff were very friendly and extremely attentive. We did not avail ourselves to the Spa facilities due to lack of time. We would recommend this Hotel to those requiring some old world charm with a choice of well prepared and delicious food in a Brasserie style dining room overlooking the lovely gardens.

"TOP CLASS!!!!!"
helen k, 22 Novembre 2015

Stayed here last night with hubby & 3year old daughter. The room was fantastic, loads of room and spotless! The pool was great and an added bonus to a lovely hotel. We all enjoyed the food which was served to a high standard and the girls all made a fuss of our daughter and made her feel special. Very relaxed & chilled atmosphere. Overall a great night away, all staff friendly and helpful,. Will go back without a doubt! Thanks 2all, it was first class!! Helen

"As best westerns go - very good!!!"
Rose101, 16 Novembre 2015

A very large property situated not far from all amenities. Beautiful breakfast - probably one of the best that I have had in a very long time! Service was very good. We had a large twin room which was good enough however there was slight noise from the kitchens fans below. Thankfully it did stop around 12ish!

"Excellent Hotel"
Lela W, 09 Novembre 2015

We were very happy with our stay at Balgeddie House Hotel. The room was of a very high standard and probably one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. Lovely grounds which would have been lovely to sit out in if the weather had been better. Very good value for money especially for a hotel with a spa. If in Glenrothes again, we would definitely come back.

"Scottish Hotel with Character"
HarryLimers, 07 Novembre 2015

Pleasant hotel one night stay - plenty of character, high ceiling rooms. Food good, and plenty of nice touches in room, although step in bath shower could do with hand rail for people with unsure footing. Additional bonus is the availability of a pool , gym and gym classes. Would definitely stay again.

"Lost on Limekilns Road!"
dreamo7, 05 Novembre 2015

We stayed here while travelling up to see the Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry. Sat Nav took us into a housing estate called Limekilns. We had to get out and ask the way. Seemingly the hotel was directly behind the houses, but you had to go right round. A bit of a palaver in the dark. First impressions of the hotel were that it was joined to an old school or similar. The entrance looked normal, through a big door, but once inside the reception desk on the left is not manned. You have to go along to the spa reception. Not to hotel - A card or something on the old reception directing you to the other reception would have been helpful! Its an old building brought up to total modern standards. Very impressed with room and the view was stunning of the garden at the rear. Rabbits running around. The hotel is actually in the middle of a housing estate, but has a large rear garden. The pool area was lovely and 20 metres i think in length. Also sauna was huge and steam room. Nice steps going out into the pool, rather than vertical ones. Good for arthritic knees lol. We ate in the hotel at night. I would say it was quite pricey but the food was excellent. Note to restaurant - Take out table one. Its so annoying sitting beside the door with waitresses and waiters constantly pushing past, not very relaxing to say the least. Would i return - Maybe?

"Husbands Birthday break"
Jacquiwoodward, 27 Octobre 2015

No atmosphere at all. Went there after visiting Keavil House wish we had stayed there as that was miles better. The young girls and guys doing the breakfast and evening meals were very nice. Not much choice for meals. Our room was right at the end of the hotel over looking the swimming pool, which was the best thing about the place. Our room carpet was badly stained. On leaving wasn't even asked if everything was OK. We stay in quite a few best western hotels and this one was the worst. Will not go back.

"A First Class Hotel with 1st class Staff."
HoweOTheMearns, 19 Octobre 2015

We wished to go away for a night for a special treat,so it had to be a Hotel which was (pet-friendly) So I found Balgeddie House and booked the Dinner B&B package. It was not the easiest of Hotel's to find and the Sat nav did not recognise the post code. However we found it and I am so glad that we did. Upon arrival I could not believe the impressive majestic building which is now surrounded with a new housing development. We were greeted by Allison on Reception, who was the most sincere and lovely receptionest that you could wish to meet and made our first visit so good. Allison kindly informed us that we had been (upgraded to a Superior Room) at no additional charge. Well all I can say is (Wow) our King Size Room was truly beautiful and immacuately clean, comfortable and stunning. Even our Dogs were in amazement and were well warned to behave!! The bedroom was so lovely that we did not wish to leave it. Dinner was truly devine and the service excellent. No complaints and all the Staff were so helpful and friendly and have obviously been trained well. After a good night's sleep I can truthfully say that our breakfast was also excellent and that we were fortunate to meet a very nice couple from Cabrach, Huntly, Aberdeenshire who had also enjoyed their stay. We also used the Leisure Facilities and could not fault anything and would certainly have no hesitation in returning to Balgeddie House or recommending to others and to those who wish to bring their 'beloved pets' with them as it is certainly a very 'pet friendly' Hotel. Thank you all for such a relaxing and wonderful stay.

"One night stay"
SteBrizz, 07 Octobre 2015

Stayed for the second time and was put in exactly same room as before so can only comment on room in the loft with skylights. Large room and comfy bed. quiet and good sleep. Room service food was good and again only problem was that desk is against the wall and you are unable to see the tv if you want to work whilst watching a bit of tv.

"Wonderful hotel, couldn't fault it!"
kathy s, 28 Septembre 2015

What a superb hotel, stopped overnight on the way to a friend in Aberdeen. £68 including breakfast for two so we wasn't sure what to expect. How wrong we were! From the start; we were welcomed in the reception with happy staff who clearly cared about their job. We were told we had an upgrade to a garden room ( I had requested a garden view if possible), which was wonderful as it was also our anniversary. The room was lovely, no in fact amazing, the bed was massive, three pillows wide and loads of space, wardrobe, desk drawer etc. We even had garden seating and stunning views. The gardener was working and also cleaning the windows, he recommended where to get cheap petrol etc. We used the pool which was lovely after a very long trip. We ate in the restaraunt which was good value food and tasty, the staff were attentive and friendly enough without over powering. You, also a good old fashioned hotel where the bar shut when the guests had enough. Previous reviews said about the staff chatting, so what! As long as you get the service you need which we definitely did, Despite some negative reviews we had a good nights sleep no noise. We needed more coffee and the receptionist couldn't find the sachets, it was quite late, but went out of her way to bring a little tub of coffee to our room which was a little trek in the dark. Breakfast was lovely, the restaraunt had fabulous views, it was inot rushed and was fresh, there was lots of choice and nothing too much trouble. If you wanted a quick service you could ask and you would get this, we saw some ask who needed to leave earlier. We will definitely stay her again and would recommend this hotel. Family rooms are massive if you are bringing children and every thing was spotlessly clean.

"2nd time around - not so good"
roseannefearon, 28 Septembre 2015

I stayed in June and came back September as my earlier stay was good I was allocated and helped to my room with my luggage- lovely room- I unpacked, ran a bath then noticed the number on my hotel card didn't match room number- you've guessed it- I was allocated the wrong room/ I was asked to move- no help offered with luggage- the new room was small and very dark- asked for change - told not possible- most worrying was fact the room card given to me could open both room doors- hotel unable to explain this- so a big let down all round - they could have offered me a complimentary drink as an apology for what was their error- but no just a take it or leave it attitude!!

"Even a treat for the dog"
Lucy C, 17 Septembre 2015

We stayed here for the last two days of our holiday, having spent the previous 11 nights in a tent. This was real luxury and I have to say that the bed in our room was bigger than the footprint of the tent!! We were very warmly welcomed at reception on arrival, and even presented with a wee bag of treats for our dog. The hotel was warm and comfortable and the staff were second to none - as others have noted, nothing was too much trouble for them. All the food and drink was excellent. What a great place to stay - well situated for visiting the East Neuk villages and other 'tourist' sties in the area. Highly recommended.

"Excellent place to stay."
AlanWood74, 13 Septembre 2015

Nice clean hotel with a warm welcome at reception when we checked in, room was in the new part and was a good size and comfortable. HUGE bed! Used the pool, sauna and steam room, all included in the price of the room. Decided to have dinner in the brasserie and cannot fault the food or the staff. Our waiter Adam was fantastic and seemed very professional for only his first week working there. He made us feel very relaxed and comfortable during the course of our meal. Breakfast the next morning was just as tasty with a selection of cereals on offer as well as a full cooked breakfast. Again Adam was there to look after us.
