We enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The room was large and comfortable with a view onto the little narrow street below. The bathroom was a good size with a fully opening window and there was storage space for toiletries. We added breakfast to our stay and the choices available were ample, with eggs, cold meats, cheese, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as the obligatory Italian heavily bread influences, which I managed to avoid for the majority of our 11 night trip between Nice 🇫🇷 Genoa and Rapallo. The free coffee, cake and pastries in the afternoon was an added bonus after lots of walking up and down around the city. The staff were helpful, friendly and full of enthusiasm when dealing with their guests at the Reception. One young lady dropped a postcard off in the postbox after finishing work on the day we left and it was received by an elderly friend very quickly. And, 10/10 score for the hairdryer - the best I've found in a hotel room in 40+ years of travel. A power switch that doesn't require a thumb press during the drying process, a good nozzle and even a cool blow button. PERFECT 👍 Would we stay again? YES ✅ The location is excellent and the Ferrari Metro station is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Ideally placed central hotel close to the old town. Room ok, comfortable bed, no view which is the case with a lot of hotels in the area but what I can comment on is the service which was first class from all staff, especially the receptionists who never tired with my questions for help and recommendations etc. Great breakfast too and complimentary coffee with pastries served through the day. Would def recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
Location, location, location! Excellent breakfast buffet with wide variety of choices. The Front Desk was always covered by two people, with lovely smiles and excellent service: directions, restaurant recommendations, help in every possible way. They even loaded our suit cases into the car when we left. Great shower. Plenty of towels. Perfect stay.
This is an excellent hotel that is very good value for money. It is ideally placed for exploring Genoa. The rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable. There is a very good breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is of far better quality than the Best Western hotels in the USA. We would definitely stay again
I stayed at the hotel three nights. The room was spacious with high ceilings and a bright bathroom equipped with a bidet. The room had a minibar fridge and tea/coffee machine. As with old buildings, the elevator is tiny! The sixth floor room afforded splendid views of the small square below through ceiling to floor windows. The front desk is staffed 24 hours and all are very helpful and speak English very well. They gave us recommendations to local eating places which we took and were very satisfied with the meals we had. The hotel is very well located in the heart of the city adjacent to the street of palaces Genoa is known for. The main shopping street and the Ferrari fountain are only about a five minute walk away and the port area is about 15 minutes. From the main railway station, a mile away, we had to take a taxi. There is a metro underground station about 10 minutes walk to the hotel but the metro does not function late at night. We needed to catch an early train and had to request the staff member at the desk to call a taxi. Twenty euros for the ride. We did not avail of the breakfast which was 10 euros per person per day. Took a look and decided against - it was a large version of a continental breakfast with the addition of boiled eggs! A drawback of the hotel is that it is not on street level. One has to walk up a dozen steps to reach the reception area. It is a strain hauling up or down your suitcases and bags. No escalator or elevator to assist! Overall, this is a good, clean hotel with comfortable beds and functioning air conditioning. Eateries are close by. I booked through HotelSlash.com and there was a miscommunication between the booking company and the hotel about the type of bedding we had requested. The hotel made the necessary changes without any fuss.
Very welcoming check in and that theme continued with every staff interaction. They were friendly and not just responsive but proactive to our needs. A real highlight. Our superior room was spacious, very quiet with a good bathroom and excellent wifi. Location is brilliant - just a short walk from the centre of the old town with lots of good restaurants, bars, cafes in easy and interesting walking distance. There is a bus stop and taxi rank out the front and a metro station is about a 5 min level walk away. Recommendations: trattoria Rosmarino, the hole in the wall gelateria right next to Rosmarino, Le Collone and for pastries, coffee or an aperitivo - Mangini (cash only). Breakfast was good with high quality ingredients and barista made coffee included (10 euro per person). It was very hot when were there and the air con struggled to keep up but we slept fine and at any other time of the year it would be fine.
The staff is very supportive, helpful and always with a smile, and any our request was delivered at an instance. Hotel centrally located, close to bus stops and metro stops. Breakfast is very good and room was very good too. Shower and toilet were sufficiently spaced and very good too
Excellent hotel. Basic but clean comfortable rooms, nice bathroom with good shower and toiletries provided, we had a room at the front overlooking the bus stops, can be a little noisy if window is open but totally didn't bother us. Only small criticism was the aircon could have been more cooling but would not put me off staying here again, very centrally located so perfect for getting around Genoa, staff so friendly and lovely. Breakfast is mainly continental which i enjoyed with a choice of scambled eggs, and a facility to boil your own egg, a coffee facility plus espresso or cappuccino made for you if you so wish, cereal, foccacia, pastries, yoghurt, fruit, jams, nuts, seeds, cheeses, ham etc, oh and cakes. In the afternoon there is complimentary coffee and pastries and foccacia. As a result I'm probably weighing in at 500lbs because well italy and the food is sooo nice. Not forgetting the background 80s music. Love it. All in all I'd totally recommend the metropli
Returning to the hotel after a day of the office is more like coming home than staying at a hotel. The staff are always friendly and nothing it too much trouble. The fresh breakfast is a great start to the day.
Thank you to all th Team at Best Western Metropolis: from the warmest welcome at the Reception to the cleaninless of the room and the rich daily breakfast managed from smiling and kind waitresses. One of the best experience I ever had. The central location was the main point to me now I know there are other reasons to return at Metropolis.
The best staff (Martina is adorable!!! Thank you so much for your care!!!) The best location! The best price!!! The most comfortable bed! Very clean! Delicious breakfast just for 10euro!!! Tea/coffee set in a room (of course with a kettle!) Everything was perfect!
Perfect location for exploring Genova and the surrounding area. Bus stop and taxi rank right outside hotel for ease of getting to train stations. Hotel is right on edge of pedestrian area of old Genova so a short stroll takes you to the heart of things and the old port. Lots of great restaurants close by. The staff were all amazing, so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Just after the cancellation period I realised that I had made an error and actually booked twice, but the receptionist was so lovely on the phone and sorted everything without penalty. Breakfast was excellent, including the facility to boil your own egg, lots of variety and great Tea!! Complimentary pastries at any time of day and a variety of soft drinks offered on arrival, made the stay even better. Room very pleasant and spotlessly clean with fresh sheets every second day of our 5 night stay. I would highly recommend this great hotel.
Good central location that is easily walkable (about 200m) to Piazza De Ferrari, the main square. Yet, because of the location, it didn't feel overly touristy or overwhelming. We booked the Deluxe room which was comfortably large. Parking though is located about 250m in a public garage next to a Coop supermarket. It costs 24 euros for 24 hours. The staff are highly efficient, helpful and seem to truly enjoy their work! Kudos to the team. We enjoyed our stay. If there was one thing that can make a difference, it would be be better stronger hangers! Yes, sturdy hangers for clothes(coats) that don't fall off instantly once you hang up your winter coat!
Well maintained property. Well appointed room. Excellent location. Walking distance to shopping, port and transportation. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Excellent, well informed front desk staff. Very helpful with suggestions. We would like to especially thank Irene and Nicole for their assistance during our recent 4 day stay. Great choice for a stay in Genova.
12 nights' stay in this hotel so well placed for Genova's attractions. Well maintained facilities. Comfortable bed and good quality bathroom fittings. Towels changed daily - as they should be! Staff very friendly and very helpful. Quick test = would I return? Of course! Thank you, BWMetropoli.
Hotel in central location. Can walk to most of the historical sites. Staff very accommodating and always willing to assist. Breakfast was standard for Best Western hotel and which included a variety of morning desserts. Room was large and bed very comfortable.
If you're planning a visit to Genia this is a great hotel - it's location is brilliant walking distance to all major sights, great cafes, bars and restaurants nearby and very friendly and helpful staff
My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with the location, as well as the beautifully appointed room. Our room was so comfortable, spacious, bright, and quiet. The staff is so friendly and helpful, too. The breakfast is fantastic, with plenty choices of fresh delicious food—including fresh ricotta cheese, Camembert, and freshly squeezed orange juice, just to name a few items. Excellent cappuccino, too! Additionally, this hotel is conveniently located to everything in beautiful historic district of Genoa. Very pleasant stay.
Great location, fantastic staff. Good breakfast with plenty to choose from. Rooms could be a little quieter. Hotel only a 10min walk to the harbor with plenty of places to see in between. Parking is 200m from the hotel (takes longer to drive to the car park than to walk)
Spent three nights there on business. The room was ok, comfortable bed. Bathroom was very small, with the toilet having a bidet place right in front of it so you can barely fit onto the toilet without brushing up against the bidet. Breakfast ok, but had hoped for more vegetables and perhaps some fish. My room faced against the piazza, and the air condition didn't work. Had to sleep with an open window and the outside was very noisy! The surrounding establishments empty their bottles and glass far into the night, so bring ear plugs!
This hotel's location cannot be beat. It has historic vibrations, is close to everything, has a warm and caring staff, an inexpensive but good breakfast and our room was nice and roomy, especially for a historic building. Don't be put off by the Best Western. That made me fear it wouldn't be European enough but it was plenty European. Best Western while still an indication of quality is not a cookie cutter designation in Europe. Each property is still absolutely unique. We loved the kindness of the staff here and would happily return if we should ever be so lucky as to come back to Genoa
Overall location was good and walkable to everything needed. Ac was not gold enough and overall the room and mainly bathroom is worn out which is a little uncomfortable and I couldn't wait to go to the next hotel. Marks on bathroom ceiling, bathroom sink has a crack and many other things here and there. The staff are nice and helpful but when we asked about trips to cinque terre and portofino we got wrong info. We gave the lady a brochure to explain but she explained it all wrong so we had to figure it all on our own
The hotel is walking distance to everything and not in the maze of small, medieval streets that are easy to get lost in. The hotel entrance is right off the main road. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and spacious, the breakfast was delicious, and the snacks in the afternoon were a nice touch.
After just a few hours your realize that this hotel has the best location possible. It is located where 3 parts of the city come together. The old narrow town, the wonderful baroque town and the posh 19 century shopping area. Very close to the main square called Piazza de Ferrari (shuttle to airport leaves form there) The hotel itself is nice and clean. Great breakfast buffet. Nice breakfast rooms. The staff of the Rezeption is helpful. My room on the fifth floor was nice and clean. Modern marble bathroom. Great view on the Piazza. Great value for money.
The location is excellent, steps from the historical center, the shopping areas, opera house and many restaurants and cafes. Buses just outside and the metro a couple of blocks way. Rooms are small but adequate. Everything is clean and well-maintained. Breakfast is good, with a new Covid arrangement of allowing you to pick whatever you want from a menu instead of a buffet. The staff is excellent. Very friendly and many English speakers.
Not the first time, great location, kind personnel. Room are adequate for the price, clean, large enough and recently renewed. The hall is small, a place just to briefly wait for someone. I didn't have breakfast. Overall a proper value for money, I'll come back.
An older hotel that's been gussied up enough so it's acceptable for most to stay at, particularly as it has a pretty good location for tourism and a very reasonable price for what you get. Our room was not huge, but not small. The bathroom was fine. The bed was good. Breakfast was ok. What was excellent was the service. People were helpful and friendly. If you needed something, they were there for you. Attitude was on a level equivalent to the better hotels out there. If you want a no nonsense place to park your tired carcass at the end of the day at a price that won't break the bank, this is the place for you. If you are looking for chic or luxurious ambiance, move on.An older hotel that's been gussied up enough so it's acceptable for most to stay at, particularly as it has a pretty good location for tourism and a very reasonable price for what you get. Our room was decently-sized with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. Breakfast for 5 euros was a real bargain - fresh scrambled eggs and delicious pastries (among other things). The staff was terrific helping us deal with our panic when we found that our pre-flight Covid tests had to be redone at the last minute when the rules were changed. The location is good -- near shopping and restaurants with buses stopping in the piazza out front.
3 stars in a convenient location. room clean and large enough. wifi included of good quality. personnel at reception kind and professional. I haven't had breakfast. value for money was appropriate, this is an hotel without frills but nice and clean
Great stay at Best Western Hotel Metropoli, especially for the price! Clean rooms, great location, friendly staff. Rooms and elevator are a bit small, but for the location and price, definitely worth it. Would highly recommend getting breakfast with your stay, they have a great selection!
The hotel is located in the hearth of Genoa, a few steps from Piazza de Ferrari and the "vicoli" of Genoa City Center. Easy to walk to the Aquarium and the "Porto Antico" area. The best atmosphere, calm and tranquility, surrounded and assisted by the best Team I have ever seen. All personnel, reception, kitchen, morning breakfast, cleaning, all so professional and friendly assisting. I had the real feeling to be Home. I want to say a sincere Thanks to all the Team of the Hotel. Hope to be your guest again, I experienced the perfect stay.
Great hotel in excellent location. Staff could not have been more helpful. I would thoroughly recommend. Close to the famous via Garibaldi. The staff recommendations for restaurants were excellent. Would return.
What a great hotel the Metropoli is! It is situated close to the station, theatre, and within the incredible alleys in the old town. The staff are excellent and very helpful. The rooms are great - we had room 313 which was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent too with a wide range of hot and cold choices. Our group thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Genoa and that was helped by the fact that the Metropoli was so good. We know where to stay if we visit Genoa again!
The Best Western Hotel Metropoli is in the heart of Genoa and the perfect place to stay when visiting. It is close to the train station, just blocks away from Via Garibaldi where the famous palazzos are located, close to shopping and good food. The staff at Hotel Metropoli go out of their way to be of service, do an excellent job, and is reasonably priced. I recommend it highly.
This was our second visit to the Best Western Metropoli this year and it was just as perfect the second time. To begin, the location is exactly where a traveler most wants to be...in the heart of the historic center of this lovely old city and near to restaurants and small shops, as well as Genoa's very impressive and people friendly waterfront. We also love the Metropoli for their attention to detail, their quiet and impeccably kept rooms and public areas, their breakfast buffet that we think hands down is one of the best. But more than that, after two stays, the Metropoli has such a truly lovely, friendly, and helpful staff everywhere...housekeeping, the breakfast room, and the desk. It happened that most of our interactions and questions were answered by Irene as well as Cinzia, who more than patiently and informatively answered our many tourist questions instead of directing us to the TI, as some hotels do. Genoa is special in countless ways, made all the more so by the Metropoli.
This 3-star hotel is in a very convenient location to access the old part of the city and looks out over a delightful square. Spacious, comfortable rooms that included a lounge area. Huge bathroom including a full-sized bath. The only downside was the light from the plaza came in through the curtains.
Twenty minute walk from train station. Rooms very nice, clean and comfortable bed. Staff very helpful .Breakfast was good. Good location. Easy walk to waterfront.close to resturants and shopping. Had a great dinner at Ombre Rosse.
This is the place to be if you wish to stay cloche to the historic center. Professional staff, clean rooms and raisonnable rates are good reasons to make me re-book here again if I visit Genova in the near future.
I purchased my reservations in March 2019 for November 2019. This is in reference to email and conversations I had with this hotel who refused to refund my money after Lufthansa and Air Canada cancelled my family flights to Genoa Italy. The hotel has the worst customer service and refused to give a refund to circumstances beyond my control. After many emails and phone calls, nothing was accomplished through this hotel. Nicole (so-called manager) has the worst customer service, and the same for Cinzia. I definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Buyer beware.
Excellent location in the old town. I stayed in both the Old Town & the Marina. At Hotel Metropoli I had a street view room that was bright, clean & comfortable. Just a 2min walk to the Piazza de Ferrari and the Via Garibaldi. Also very close to the bus to the train station and to the Volabus to the airport. The buffet breakfast offers an excellent variety and everything is fresh and tasty. Be sure to try the homemade raisin bread. The staff was very friendly & efficient. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel has a very good location in Genoa, close and walking distance to several attractions. And if you arrive by train, there is a bus from the train station that takes you directly to the hotel. Also, if you are planning to visit Cinque Terre, you can either take a bus to the train station, or enjoy a 15 minute walk in Genoa. The staff at the reception are very helpful in giving directions and suggestions for places to visit. The room was good, clean and well equipped , a bit small for two people, and one should try to ask for a room that has a view of the Main Street. The breakfast is good and has a good variety. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it .
We had a fantastic stay in Hotel Metropoli while we had a weekend vacation in Genova. The location is great. The staffs were friendly with smiles always. Room was clean and bright. Breakfast was rich and various which services were more than a 3 stars hotel level. We did really enjoy staying here and surely will back this hotel for our next visit to Genova. Highly recommend!
Booked this hotel through my travel agent so the room came as a surprise as it looked nothing like the photos on various websites. It was dark, dingy and dated facing a narrow alley that was noisy when the window was open. The bathroom was small and the plumbing not great with water in the shower not flowing away. The upside is the the very friendly and helpful reception, the excellent location and the best value breakfast in Europe - 5 Euros!
Misleading room photos: To be honest, I was not happy with the fact that I was assigned an old non-renovated room, which was not shown in their website room gallery of my room type. They gave me a room which faces to the Piazza, which I had requested and appreciate; however, the room was not what I saw in their website ‘Standard Double Bedroom'. Room - a dark and small room (not like the pictures I saw in their website): 4 nights to stay in this dark, non-renovated, small room - I didn't want to. So, I asked the reception to change the room. I showed their website where they put all renovated rooms and more spacious rooms photos as ‘Standard Double Room (my booking room type). Then, one of the receptionist advised me these pictures were not really ‘Standard', but ‘Superior and Family room types'. Well, that means the person in charge of their website put the wrong pictures, which misled me 100%. Requesting room change: I explained about my choice of the room type based on these misleading pictures, but what they told me was that I need to pay extra money to change my room. I did pre-payment for the entire 4 nights, so they wouldn't return the money anyway even if I wanted to move to another hotel. Real pictures of <
This is a maximum 3 star hotel. Location is good though and the staff is friendly but besides that this doesn't give anything extra to your vacation. Rooms are dated, old fashioned, the breakfast was barely ok and the overall hotel was just fine. I wouldn't go again.
We stayed one night at the BW Metropoli hotel after a long flight from the States. Prior to our stay, I had communicated with the hotel via e-mail and they were super helpful and responded very quickly. We had rented a car at the Genoa airport and after a few missteps, found the hotel and were able to park the car temporarily right in front of the entrance while we checked in. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful and allowed us to take our luggage up to the room before moving our car to the parking lot. Parking is off-site and is a bit difficult to find (but that could be user error as we were pretty tired by that point). Parking cost 22 or 24 euros for a 24 hour period. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is very small and did not have a lot of room for storing anything in it. Since we were only there one night, it didn't really bother us. Not sure if other rooms in the hotel have different bathrooms or not. The location of the hotel is great, though, on a small square and very close to the centre of the city but without the crowds and noise. Breakfast (which was 5 Euros per person) was very good and offered a number of choices. We would recommend this hotel.
Located in a central place within easy reach to and from every place. They took really good care of me in every step of myself stay: all the way from booking my room to leaving the place everything was made easy. I nearly felt like home. Super staff! If I only had had room with a view, this would have been a five star stay. And I did not even need my ear plugs, as I did not even notice that there was such a lot traffic right next to the hotel. Easy, quiet, clean and friendly!
Irene, Adrianna (Arianna?), Giulio, Juna, and the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful, from tolerating my 40 year old Italian, and conversing in English to assisting us with travel directions better than the TI folks. They were cheerful, and helpful. The room was clean. Breakfast was bountiful, and with many choices. The location put one in the heart of the Center. It was almost like being in Italian home.
I don't understand how the reviews put this hotel at #3 in Genoa. It is definitely a middle of the road place. Location is great. Parking is a little complicated to figure out, and an 8 minute walk back to the hotel, but the location right in the old city makes it worthwhile. Breakfast was very simple, but well done. Our room was clean. But the hotel definitely needs some upkeep and TLC.
The hotel is wonderful. Very centrally located to everything we could have asked for. The old part of Genova was literally just around the corner. The newer part, shopping district, was literally just around the other corner. The bus route was just out front. The hotel staff is excellent and very helpful. The breakfast at the hotel is outstanding. This is a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it.
Four night visit to this 3 star hotel. Very well located for all attractions in and around the historic centre. Ideal for the hoho bus and airport bus. Comfortable and quiet rooms for a good nights sleep. Rooms have everything you may need and buffet breakfast has enough to set you up for a busy day sight seeing. Reception staff very good and rooms well cleaned daily. Only constructive criticism for this hotel is wifi could be better and bathrooms may be due some refurb. Have to though a good 3 star hotel giving excellent value for money and as such recommended.
my best hotel in Genoa. Excellent location in the city center and very close to the historic centre. I have been using this hotel every year for at least the last 10 years, and am happy to return to it if I can.
Bit of a belated review. We have visited Best Western Hotels all around Europe and Russia and this one is the cleanest, friendliest and most helpful of all. The hotel is ideally placed wherein almost everywhere is walkable and the staff are more than willing to assist with directions and provide a map. We stayed in room 505 (recommended) great view, spotless and toiletries etc regularly replaced. The maids do a very good job and speak good English as do all of the staff. Breakfast is very good and value for money. The selection of cheese is excellent as is the selection of cold meats, scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh bread, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, locally made jams and honey plus you could boil your own eggs too your taste. They're was also a selection of coffees and fruit juice which all of which is replenished regularly. The front staff were excellent and this being our sixth time to Italy it was the best. We have stayed in four star hotels that were comparable to this place. Travelled 8-23 May.
Staff in this hotel, especially reception team are great. The hotel is in a slightly quieter area, but very close to main shopping street and via Garibaldi which is main thoroughfare down to port and aquarium.Rooms are clean with tea making facilities. Our lower floor front aspect room was a little noisy until late and early morning. However,we were moved to a slightly smaller, but very quiet side of hotel room.Breakfast is brilliant for 5 euros with a great variety of cooked food, fresh bread, cake, fruit, cereal and much more.Free coffee and pastries was a lovely touch and we really looked forward to that, when we came back from a busy day.Very close to bus stops.Would recommend, great little hotel offering good value for money.
I stayed here with friends. The hotel is in the middle of the historic area of Genoa and very easy to get to places. The staff on reception recommended several excellent restaurants and were so friendly. The room was very clean with an excellent shower. Lots of choice at breakfast which was included. Would definitely recommend.
While U.S. travelers aren't likely to put Best Western and upscale boutique in the same sentence, that is exactly what the 3 star Genoa Best Western Metropole happens to be. I'd chosen this hotel primarily for its perfect and convenient location, but it exceeded expectations in many ways. We very much appreciated our quiet, large standard room because it provided space to open suitcases as well as giving a roomy floor area. Beds were very comfortable, good pillows and linens, etc. Though a minor point, kudos to the Metropole for the best hair dryer of our entire 18 day trip! Genoa may be a relatively large city, but the location and the staff at the Metropole make it feel like a neighborhood hotel. Staff were all unfailingly helpful, friendly, professional. Breakfast was actually a surprise for the expansive layout and fresh choices. Big baskets of warm and delicious focaccia, soft boiled eggs (a treat when so many buffets have only hard boiled) or small batch scrambled, meats and cheeses of the region, sliced fresh fruit, the delicious Italian yogurt that is to me so superior to ours here in the states, pastries that I usually try to avoid were too tempting and worth the extra calories. We left the Metropole with a great feeling for our stay and in our experience with both 3 and 4 star hotels, it stands with the best of them.
I have come to this hotel for over 15 years. I like the location at the edge of the old city. Super convenient - one can walk to restaurants and bars, and to many museums. The staff is very professional, friendly and accommodating. Interior design follows a clean Italian design although the building is a somewhat older palazzo. Great breakfast!
The hotel is very well located next to the main square, close to a shopping street and tourist attractions and within walking distance to the harbour. The breakfast was surprisingly complete and of very good quality. On the other hand the room was much smaller than the one we can see in the photos, a bit too small in fact.
This is a great boutique hotel, right on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Strade Nuove and Palazzi dei Rolli. Room #302 appeared to be brand-new, with views of the neighbourhood. Rooms in the older part of the hotel are much smaller than those in the addition, where we were. Breakfast is superb, and the staff will give good recommendations for nearby eateries.
We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights (21/9 & 22/9 September) in a Superior Double room and although the entrance is tucked away from the street, it is easy to find and very central to walking around Genoa. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we have nothing negative to say about our stay
We visited this hotel in September. The hotel staff are very friendly helpful and polite. The rooms are good comfy beds air conditioned clean if I could say anything bad is although the bathrooms look like they have been refurbished recently with quality fittings the bath is useless too small to bath in and as a shower enclosure very bad rip it out and install a proper shower tray much safer and more adiquate for the user. The breakfast was good for continental if you ask they will bring tea be better to have tea out with the coffee. BBC world service would be good. Free WiFi which worked well The location is very good to explore all areas of the town. Price we paid was good. Overall I would recommend this hotel if staying in Genoa.
Adequate hotel with good location. I Had 2 rooms for one night each—standard and superior. Not much difference between them except superior larger with sofa and makeup mirror. No extra amenities to justify price difference. Same Miserable Small plastic shower in each room. very poor air conditioning in BOTH rooms. Noise from unit, but not cool. Just a waste of electricity. no English tv station in either room. Tip: Lovely gesture, croissant/focaccia (probably left over from breakfast but still fresh) and coffee available all day in breakfast room. Front desk should mention that at check in otherwise only find that by stumbling upon it. There are also ceramic mugs there that you can take to room to use instead of the styrofoam cups hotel gives you. 3 large sitting rooms with magazines on main level. very friendly and helpful staff. But next time I would probably try the BW city hotel. PS hotel recommended restaurant I think called le rume nearby. Very nice staff and atmosphere but you can find much better food elsewhere. My linguine con vongole e broccoli was overcooked.
The hotel is located in the heart of genoa and 5min walk from piazza de Ferrari. The airport shuttle and all transportation is easily accessible. The staff is very kind and helpful. Choose the room with the front view. Room are well designed and convenient. The breakfast menu is good, they even pack you a box if u leave earlier than 7am. They have a common room for reading and a buisnes center as well. Cant ask for more, ah yes! It's well priced, better to book in advance. Bosco
I recommend this hotel. the staff is very kind and hopeful. They help us to find nice places to visit, and good places/restaurants to eat. The breakfast has not the largest offer but is plenty of things to choose from. The room was spacious and clean.
Lovely staff that make you feel welcome , very friendly and happy. Great location near all the main attractions. Breakfast is a must, a lot to choose from for just 5€. Would def come back! Delorean!!!
We stayed here in May 2018 for three nights and were really surprised for the excellent rate we were charged to find a Hotel with staff that were so welcoming and helpful to us. Situated in a fabulous position in the small Piazza delle Fontane Marose, it is surrounded by alleys with great shopping on a bus route to everywhere. Our room overlooked the Piazza and was large with a marble bathroom with twin basins. Plenty of everything you would need. We paid $5.00 Euro for Breakfast and wow what a spread as well as good coffee you had made especially for you and a selection of food and beautiful cakes (!) for your choosing. It was an unbelievable rate for what you could select. The staff were especially nice and recommended a Restaurant Le Rune which is located not far from them- walking distance and you could not better it for food and local content. I would recommend anyone to stay here as it is located just where you need to be.
We were delighted by this hotel (thank you former Trip Advisor reviewers!) With fabulous views over a historic square excellent, our room was clean and well appointed and offered quite a lot of charm. A nice touch was the free samples of Botanicals shampoos etc to try. Breakfast was excellent value at 5 euros. But best of all was the extremely friendly welcome from Irene at reception. She was a real delight and she and her colleagues were very helpful when we realised that we'd left something in the safe and had to come back for it a week later. As everyone else has mentioned, it's beautifully located in the old town. Genoa is a gem of a city and the Metropoli is a perfect base for exploring it.
Excellent choice, since everything is pretty much reachable by foot. For example the aquarium is a 10 minutes walk. It has breakfast. The bathroom and everything is great, and get re-fueled (new towels for example) on a daily basis. Drawback: No slippers provided (but that must be standard in these 3 stars hotels I guess)
Aside from the mattress being slightly too firm for my liking (subjective anyway), couldn't fault this hotel. Food was superb, restaurant staff were excellent and the hitel decor was lovely. Only stayed one night but would go back.
This hotel was very convenient. We had a fantastic stay in Genoa largely because of the location and the ease of being at this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The taxis have a stand right outside, there is a bus stop and a CitySightseeing stop right outside, it is positioned near two different train stations, and you are just a walk away from the Port, Duomo, and several Palazzos. The rooms are nice - if you are traveling with a small child be sure to ask for one with a bathtub, and a crib (cot) doesn't cost extra. The breakfast in the morning is excellent and complete, so be sure to get that, too. Refrigerator in the room makes it nice to have snacks. Definitely a wonderful stay!
Enjoyed our break in Genoa. Hotel was in a good location, easy to get most places on foot. Rooms were clean and breakfast good value. The staff was lovely and we were lucky that one of rooms were ready early so could fresh up before we went our first Italian coffee
This was a long weekend (Friday to Monday) so that we could visit Portofino. We booked through BA and we were not disappointed. The Hotel is only 3 stars but rooms are clean and tidy and the staff are SO friendly and helpful. We had not booked breakfast so added it when we booked in - 5 euros each as got to be a bargain for the spread that awaits you. There is a lift and in the afternoon there is free coffe and pasties, what more could you ask for.. When we come back to Genoa we will stay here as it is so central. The port to catch the ferry is about a 20 min walk away and there are many restaurant on the walk to and from the port. ( try Le Rune - near the Hotel). So overall a great place to stay.
Large room, large bathroom, well appointed, perfect location, very clean, comfortable, nice breakfast. The staff was very helpful and made great recommendations. Hotel Metropoli made our stay in Genova wonderful.
The ladies at reception are very polite and helpful! We stayed to meet up with very close friends dating back several years. During our stay, we went out to nice Pinoteche for "assaggini" as it is the fashion if you prefer to spend less on food and drinks! We also took a visit to a pleasant seaside resort on the railway line so easily accessible by the name of Camogli.
Great hospitality, clean place and friendly staff. I enjoyed the Italian coffee, local cheese and focaccia each morning for breakfast. Thank you team! Genova is a magnificent place to visit. I'll return for a holiday
Positioned just on the edge of the historical part of the city, it has easy access to all the best bits. Ten minute walk to Brignole station. Two minute walk to Piazza De Ferrari (airport Volabus drop off/collection point) making for hassle free airport access. My wife and I checked in on the 25th May for 5 nights. We paid a little extra for a superior room with a view over looking the square. Comfy, clean well equipped room (safe, aircon, shower TV, minibar etc) and a nice king size bed. We opted not to have breakfast (only 5 euros) because we like to eat at the local cafes instead. Cleaned daily and nice enough decor. All the staff on reception were super, very helpful when needed, lovely people.
Ahhhh, what a great spot! We spontaneously booked two nights when we decided to spend a couple of extra nights in Genoa. The location was perfect! The staff was SO helpful and welcoming. The room was great. The breakfast was spot on. If you can arrange to stay in a room facing the piazza you'll be treated to a vibrant view and soundtrack. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and recommend!
Definitely when in Genoa best western. The location is SUPER central. The breakfast is amazing, everything fresh and delicious, plus a good variety. The rooms were tidy and clean. The service was also good.
I'm not a big fan of staying in the hotels in old buildings but I realized that if I want to be in the centre of Genoa I had to take it. But in this very case everything was perfectly fitted into the old building. Our triple room was very comfortable with a lot of surfaces for personal belongings, well-organized bathroom, safe and blackout curtains which made our sleep very sweet and long. They offer a delicious breakfast at 3 Euro only. Very good coffee, plenty of cold cuts, some hot items, etc. We always had a late breakfast and the breakfast area has never been overcrowded. The girls at reception are very helpful and always smiling. The location is great as well. Very central but quiet. No negatives at all in my opinion.
Lots of Pros - Centrally located hotel, steps away from old town, great shopping and great restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Service always with a smile. A breakfast buffet you want to wake up for; wonderful coffee throughout the day. Clean, standard room. High ceilings and tall windows makes it feel spacious. Good toiletries. Nice hot showers. All this at a very reasonable price Con - Accommodations in the original building may be a bit cramped
The room was good sized and clean. Bed was comfortable. The desk clerk provided a map and recommended inexpensive food places in the area. Hotel is close to fountain, church, shopping, and bars. Reminder that voltage in Europe is not the same as US.
A lovely little hotel slap bang in the centre of Genoa- right round the corner is main high street and the posh shops as well as the Palazzo Rosso. The hotel room was clean and tidy and the shower superb- nice hot water-plenty of room with a view onto the street below. The breakfast was delicious and a vast range of food was on offer at only 3 euros! We had a delightful stay at this hotel and the staff was super and friendly. Grazie Mille!
I stayed here a recently while attending a wedding in Genoa, it is a lovely hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The service outstanding and the staff, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was also very good. The location of the hotel is great, right in the center of the city, yet quiet.
Such a helpful staff and comfortable, clean, and modern rooms. They recommended a restaurant we could walk to—La Rudin—and it was excellent with good service and prices. The mattress is a memory foam on the Queen size bed. This was in the newest part of the hotel. It can be hard to locate and the parking is also hard to pinpoint. Recommend calling for directions.
The staff at the Front Desk was extremely helpful and the location is ideal to the city square as well as the waterfront. The breakfast buffet for 5 Euros per person can't be beat. It is very close to the train station as well. A short taxi ride or the Front Desk said a 15 minute walk.
Comfortable, very good quality, silent and accessorized rooms, and really close to lots of restaurants, rich breakfast and overall a perfect stay! Even staff is very kind and welcoming. I would recommend.
I've stayed at the Metropoli several occasions.. dating back to the 1980s. In the past 4 yrs I've made it my go-to Hotel in Genova ( A city I once resided and worked ) . Perfect location : walking distance from Principe Station, all downtown areas, and located in an elegant, historical and well-kept section of the city. You are seconds away from the Piazza, Via XX Settembre, Piazza Corvetto, Palazzo Ducale and the nicest section of the famous historical center which has been rennovated and made tourist-friendly and safe in the past few decades. The Hotel is very clean and comfortable - As for the breakfast, it is perhaps the best Hotel fare I've experienced with local Genovese specialities: focaccia, pandolce and more. Staff are experienced, descrete, polite, helpful and expert. So It gets full marks from me on all levels and I am sure to return.
Stayed here five nights, staff consistent in their friendliness and help throughout our stay. Breakfast good variation of breads fruit , conserves, cakes and cereals with personally made beverages to order. Hotel handy for old port , shopping streets and world heritage streets, useful bus stop and taxi rank outside hotel. Clean, comfortable , a pleasure.
Wonderfully located in an excellent area of town, the hotel is comfortable and friendly. Excellent staff, good facilities, clean and comfortable rooms and good size bathrooms. The downside is the lack of blackout curtains which means that your room is brightly lit all night long, the flight of steep stairs leading from the street to reception which makes luggage handling a nightmare, and the uncleared tables at breakfast this morning. Overall, an excellent hotel but a little more attention to detail would work wonders.
In the centre of city. No parking at the hotel but guarded parking not too far . However hard to find. We had to change rooms as the airco made too much noise unfortunately that room was smaller Staff was very friendly
Good location, easily reached from either train station, with a bus stop only meters from the hotel. Wonderful staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble. Comfortable rooms, an excellent breakfast; should I return to Genoa, this is where I'll stay.
I booked this hotel, having had excellent stays with Best Western hotels on the continent (but not in the UK). The hotel is located in a quiet piazza near to (2 minute walk) the famous Piazza De Ferrari. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and are a true asset to this hotel. Our family room was located on the top floor and had a kind bed and two very comfortable bunk beds for the children, which they loved! We were there during a heatwave and the air-conditioning was much appreciated. The bathrooms are a great size and the shower was amazing. We cannot fault our stay, as even the breakfast was excellent! Just around the corner is one of the best pizza restaurants I have ever eaten in, and the recommendations of the hotel staff for other restaurants were also great.
Being a frequent visitor to Cinque Terre and the surrounding , Genoa has been our final stop over the 8 years and Best Western Metropoli our only choice for accommodation. The hotel is close to everything. The staff has always been friendly, courteous and very helpful over the years we stayed. The rooms we stayed were quite spacious , always neat and clean. Breakfast in Best Westerns has always been satisfactory in general, but we tended to love it more here. Will definitely keep coming in the following years.
The staff was very helpful and really cared, offered me maps, directions, tips and upgraded me to a better room with bathtub. I travelled alone and felt very safe. Close to shopping and the sea is just 10 min walking distance. Breakfast was good too. Would come back!
This hotel close to just about everything, went above and beyond for us. The staff, was friendly, courteous and always helpful. The room although small by US standards was clean and bright and well equipped. Breakfast was included for a small fee and it was good. Especially the pastries. It's a really short walk to Porto Antico. This place will not disappoint.
We only stayed 2 nights in Genoa and we chose this hotel based on recommendations from TripAdvisor regarding its location and we were super happy to have done so. Everything was walking distance. The staff at the reception was very helpful and always smiley. As we were traveling with our celiac son, we were super happy with the gluten-free breakfast service they had at the hotel. They had a list of all he could eat from the open buffet and also many other options we could choose that were served separately from the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. Perfect choice for a short stop at this historic city!
Stayed here two nights to visit the sites of Genoa. My father fell ill and the staff could not do enough to help -- called a doctor, translated when we had difficulty with the bill, delivered food, enquired after his health and in between gave advice on the city. Our family room was well-designed and comfortable, with an excellent bathroom and breakfast, but the staff make this hotel shine. I booked direct, and from initial enquiry to check out, they handled everything perfectly. Special thanks to Irene and Nicole, who treated us like friends from the moment we arrived.
If you are looking for a good hotel near everything in Genova, then this hotel could be your place. It is a three star hotel, but a good one, situated at a stone's throw of the main square of Genova, at one end of Via Garibaldi and at a nice walking distance from the port area. Even if it is in a square, with a bus stop near the hotel ( by the way, with bus no. 34 you can come from the Piazza Principe train station ) , it is a quiet area and a very safe one , from where you can reach any point of interest in no time. The rooms are good, clean, even if pretty small, or maybe with furniture not very well placed and this steal away from you the space you need to feel welcome. It has a mini fridge, some tea and coffee maker, safe and the bathroom itself is a plus, if you are not a bulky person -otherwise you could have a problem to enter the shower cabin. And I am very serious about it. A big minus for our room was that we had other building very close from our window and that's why the room was dark and it felt almost like in a basement. We were very disturbed of this being the kind of people used to having a lot of light in our house . They could have asked us before giving it if this could be a problem for us because it really was. To go on, breakfast is good with numerous choices of a good quality, even though it was the same for a few days in a row. To be honest, this is the same like in most of the hotels we stayed over the time. But it was perfect to give you the energy you need to start the day properly. People working in the hotel are friendly and helpful and make your stay a pleasant one. To conclude, I strongly recommend this hotel to you and in spite of our minor complaints, we would choose it again when we come back in Genoa.
Great location, had all the amenities of a BW hotel--clean, friendly staff, wifi, TV, room safe, refrigerator, AC, elevator. Irene was a great desk manager. She spoke good English and helped us with all our questions. Fantastic breakfast at a very reasonable price, 3 euros! Parking is not convenient and was expensive but expected for much of Europe. I would definately recommend this hotel.
It was the first time that we stayed in a Best western hotel, and nothing to complain. Good service, clean hotel and tidy hotel. We stayed on the 4th floor (406 room) we had a nice view. The room is small but really clean and comfortable. The mini bar have lots of choices and the prices are affordable, which is not normal. The breakfast is really delicious, go for it. The location is really central, we traveled by train and is 10 min walk from both main stations. Next time in Genova we will stay there for sure. Definitely recommended
The hotel is well located, very close to the Palazzi dei Rolli, and a few minutes walk from other main attractions (e.g. palazzo Ducale, etc.). Even the port area is just 15-20 min. walk. Personnel is extremely kind and breakfast is excellent. You can enjoy high quality local products (from olive oil, taggiasche olives, ricotta and other cheeses, very good jam and marmelade and the typical focaccia). The room was clean and functional with a nice view on the small piazza. Ask for 4-5 floor rooms.
We stayed several nights at this hotel in April. It was family friendly -- there were even small bunk beds in our room for the kids. The location is great, everything was quite clean, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful in recommending a restaurant for us on a Sunday for dinner as so many are closed. I especially appreciated the breakfast selection, which had things that many American palates would want at the beginning of the day, and also included many Ligurian or Italian specialties as well. In addition, they went out of their way to point out gluten free items available for our celiac, and even brought him a plate of his own rolls each morning, with separate Nutella that hadn't been gluten'd up by anyone else. Overall I have to recommend Italy as a travel destination for celiacs. People are quite conscious of the ways in which contamination can happen, and restaurants frequently had GF pasta on hand to serve when asked. Bravo!
This is generally a very nice hotel centrally located to all the attractions in Genoa. We stayed there two nights and walked to all the sights of Genoa. They have one of the best breakfast buffets that I have ever enjoyed; everything to suit just about any ethnic background. The staff is very courteous and helpful, the room was comfortable although not especially roomy. Great value for the price however. Definitely would recommend it be considered for your stay in Genoa.
Excellent value for money.. perfect location. Very good food, especially breakfast. Super friendly and helpfull staff. My room views were spectacular. Decent sized rooms, with very comfortable beds. Very clean. Will go back when in Genoa
This hotel has the most welcoming and helpful staff. good size comfortable rooms with excellent walk in shower, the breakfasts for 3 euros would put 4/5 star hotels to shame very central situation only problem was stairs to hotel reception but staff willing to carry luggage up would certainly stay here again
The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a 20-minute walk from the Principe train station or you can take bus 34. We loved the alleyway next to our hotel as well as being in close vicinity of Piazza Ferrari. Besides the location, we were impressed with the friendliness at the reception desk and the high quality of the dishes served at breakfast. The Latte Machiatto was to die for. We stayed here for two nights and relied only on public transportation. We loved Genoa, adored its food (especially its pesto) and appreciated the authenticity of the city. I'm glad we were near Garibaldi street, home to some of the most beautiful palazzos in Genoa and near the tourist office. We would definitely stay here again.
Although officially rated as 3 star, we found the BW Metropoli to be a very pleasant and comfortable hotel, worthy in our view of a higher rating. The location is excellent being only a few yards away from the World Heritage site Via Garibaldi and the airport bus stops about 200 yards away in Piazza Ferrari. Breakfast at an extra charge of 3 Euros is excellent value. Free wifi is widely available. Complimentary newspapers and pastries are available in the lounge areas. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Renovating rooms while keeping the hotel open seems unacceptable to me. No way to have a rest during the day. When traveling for work this is unacceptable. Very friendly staff and clean rooms though...
We stayed with our family here and enjoyed our time. The free breakfast was nice and the three bed options were great for our family of 5. The hotel is in a great location of Genoa as well and lots of sites and restaurants are easily within walking distance.
The Best Western Metropoli sits amid the old town precincts and is handy to most of the attractions of Genoa. The Genoa City Hop-on-hop-off bus stop is adjacent to the hotel which allows the ability to move around without fuss. The hotel is comfortable and the breakfast, which may be included in the tariff, but if not, costs a mere 3euro is more than adequate. Helpful staff to find suitable restaurants etc were most acceptable
2N3D in genes, this hotel is really well situated, plenty to see, walks from here to discover the town, restaurants/bars/shopping all close bye. Cant go wrong. The price was correct, the staff(Irene) and the others, fantastic, with all their help and great humour. Bus stop just 20 seconds from the entry. Good breakfast for only 3 euros per person. Safe at night. the beds in this Hotel are amazingly comfortable.
Hotel Metropoli is between the Old town and Modern city. The Rolli palaces are just around the corner. The hotel personnel is smiling and helpful. The room, bed, bathroom, and view are of good quality.
Central, just a few minutes walk from Paizza De Ferrari. Clean pleasant room as well as reception and breakfast room. Travelled solo and booked a single room overlooking the small Piazza Fontane Marose. It was a good size and well laid out. Kettle and selection of tea and coffee bags in the room, as well as a well furnished mini-bar, also with some space to put own stuff if needed. Didn't like the very high fixed shower much. Excellent choice and quality at breakfast. Staff very helpful. I plan to book this hotel again as I travel through Genoa every few months.
Charming, modern and pleasant hotel in historic district. Close to all of the major sites you will want to visit. Staff were incredibly helpful and courteous. Breakfast variety far exceeded expectations. Room was very quiet - able to sleep well with windows open at night.
This was a clean hotel right in the middle of old part of Genoa, good location for walking around and seeing the sights. Excellent breakfast and staff and service brilliant! Thank u for a great stay, we would definitely come agin if we were in Genoa
The hotel is well located, but suffers from the Italian parking problem. It isn't cheap, but more moderately priced than similar hotels in Genoa. It was a great base to explore the city from. There are numerous sights and restaurants nearby.
There is a parking place for one car in front of the hotel : you can park there when checking in and the hotel staff bring your luggage to the room while you drive to the parking lot about 500 metres away. The breakfast is excellent both in quality and friendly service.
Centrally located so that one can conveniently enjoy the historic city plus eat at good restaurants that the hotel recommended just around the corner . Irene and Nicole could not have been more helpful untangling a mistaken reservation that I had made with Booking.com. They made me a convert to Best Western and I became a member because of them. Caution for elderly: We only experienced if guests must walk up stairs to enter the hotel lobby, I don't know if they have an entrance with an elevator. I didn't see it.
my partner and I stayed for 1night. parking is away from the hotel but there is a space in front of hotel where you can park while being given directions. staff very friendly. rooms clean, well decorated. nice view on to square. hotel in great location for bars, restaurants. will recommend to friends and family
The superb location of this hotel makes the interesting sites, including the port, within easy walking distance. The historic town with its winding alleys, shops and restaurants is located just behind the hotel. Bus stops, including the sightseeing Hop on Hop of bus, a taxi stand and ATM machines are right in front. Very friendly and helpful multilingual staff. The breakfast buffet was excellent and had a good selection to choose from. I had a nice single room with flat screen tv and airconditioning facing a quiet alley however, my only negative was that the bed and pillows were a bit too hard. The bathroom was good and had some complimentary samples of skin care which I thought was a nice detail. A minibar which thankfully had ice cold drinks versus some minibars that don't cool well and you end up having warm water and sodas. An ideal hotel for a weekend trip! All in all, a lovely experience where I got good value for my money. I would definitely stay there again.
This hotel is superbly situated on the fringe of the old city. It is easy to walk to many restaurants and bars, ice-cream suppliers and the like. All the things we wished to visit, like the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, the Palazzo Rosso and Bianco, and Via Garibaldi are well within easy walking distance - and I am 80 year's old next year. The hotel is actually at the end of Via Garibaldi. The breakfast buffet is very good and ample.
Dislike: The windows were on a main square - what I expected, since it is a central location - but it ment it was quite noisy. Needed to sleep with windows closed - fortunately, soundproofing is good, so everything ok! Another big problem are the showers: they are fixed from above, you can not wash properly and your hair get wet anyway. Access through stairs, not easy if you got large suitcases. Like: Staff was very helpful and the hotel is very clean and new. Beds are comfortable. Good soundproofing. Nice bathrooms. Fresh fruits at breakfast! Location very central, without being too much exposed, and medieval building in front! I definitively recommend it!
This renovated older style hotel has most things a budget travel requires including friendly helpful staff. Rooms are larger than average and well kept. While situated in a fairly busy area there were no noise issues.
This is a superb location, well run by professional and enthusiastic staff. They provided us with excellent restaurant recommendations as well as insight on what to do during the day. The room was average but welcoming and clean. I highly recommend.
Very pleasant, welcoming service for an emergency late night room. Breakfast lovely, receptionists and staff especially lovely. Lovely and clean room and in a very central location filled with lovely places to eat and shop. Thank you very much for everything.
Hotel is well located near shops, restraurants and transport etc. Room were ok but a bit small ( however this is typical for European hotels ). Reception at check-in was a bit cold and not very welcoming. Breakfast was great with plentiful supply of hot and cold food.
I came here as the hotel I booked did not respect my reservation. Attention was Superb, all my doubts were answered and make me feel better after not having where to stay. Hotel is close to main streets, eateries, and touristic places, also Metro station is just a couple of blocks. Rooms are big, and comnfortable, the decoration is somewhat outdated but still you can have a good rest. The breakfast is included and you can have a good assortment of local products,I really liked that, is not very common to see hotels support local farmers. you can have several cheese, bread, jelly kinds. Only thing i found bad was the elevator, is tiny, but still my experience was good, I'll stay here again
Friendly and really helpful staff. Room (408) overlooked main street, which was fun for watching in the day, but noisy all night. Location was great, in the old town, perfect for seeing what we came here for. Our room was large enough and light enough. Wifi usually worked, although not always. Nice linens. Shower door was difficult -not a big deal, but it didn't close properly and the shower was very small. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Hotel was a great value. The main negatives: small, stuffy elevator that bounced some...made me anxious every time. Some of the fruit at breakfast was clearly past prime. It should have been more carefully checked before serving.
Very well located, clean, comfortable and very friendly hotel. Breakfast was varied with fresh baking and fruit. Reception staff were particularly welcoming and helpful. The hotel is five minutes from the theatre and two minutes from the famous Via Garibaldi. The quaint funicular is also minutes walk away.
As you already know from the the title of this review, the hotel is close to tha main square, Piazza Raffaele de Ferrari, Palazzo Ducale, tha fashionable Via Roma and one of the best avenues I have seen, Via XX Settembre. On the other side, you will fin de Centro Storico and you will soon understand why this area was so difficult to take by those invaders. Walking through this are, you will find the harbour with the Aquarium. The staff was gentile and helpful. There's also something important, there's a laundry a few blocks form the hotel, inside the Centro Storico.
This hotel is in a very good location, close to the historic centre and just a minute or two away from Teatro Carlo Felice, which was the reason for my stay in Genoa. In the short time I had at my disposal I was able to walk along the famous Renaissance Via Garibaldi, which is just around the corner from the hotel and explore the waterfront. Also close to the hotel is a lift up to a marvellous viewpoint with panoramic views across the city and the sea. The staff at the Metropoli are exceptionally friendly, kind and helpful, and I felt really at home there. I had a very nice spacious room with a good bathroom, a comfortable bed, and there was a plentiful choice from the breakfast buffet. Highly recommended!
I happen to be in this lovely hotel for some days. The staff is very helpful specially the lady in the reception is very helpful. From arranging the personal computer to you up to arranging a hotel to your next destination will be done by her at your request. This is very helpful as we do not understand Italian language. The wifi is free and with a moderate speed. If it rains out side they will provide you an umbrella. Likewise you will be looked after very well.
Our family of 4 (2 teenage sons) were traveling through Genoa by train. We wanted a place not too far from the train station. This was a very nice little hotel in a picturesque part of the city. We got a family room which was all we needed for a one night stay. It would be ok with 2 small children for a longer visit, but a little small with teenagers. Still, it was great for our needs. They referred us to the pizza place around the corner for a quick dinner. It was the best pizza we had in 10 days of touring Italy. Then we spent a few hours walking around the beautiful old town. Had to catch a train to Cinqua terra the next morning, but I would love to return to Genoa and this hotel.
We stayed for a couple days while driving from France to Rome. Clean hotel, great breakfast, easy to walk to many places. My daughter had forgotten her watch. The staff quickly located it and returned it to us.
The Hotel Metropoli is centrally situated in Genoa within easy walking distance of the Porto Antico and other local sights and landmarks. Front desk staff were knowledgeable and very helpful regarding trips around Genoa, even taking a personal interest in where we had travelled from and our intentions whilst in the city. Our twin room was immaculately presented and was to the front overlooking the street. It had complimentary tea and coffee making facilities - a great bonus after a long days sightseeing. There was some traffic noise during the day but, traffic wise, the street was very quiet from around 8pm to 8am each day and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. Breakfast was the fairly standard continental fayre with a selection of breads, pastries, cheese, meat and fruit etc. together with a small hot selection of scrambled eggs and sausages. We found it perfectly adequate for our needs. We would not hesitate to stay at the Metropoli on our next visit to Genoa.
Hotel is in the old town about 10-12€ ride from Genoa Exhibition Centre The hotel Metropoli is situated on one of the many lanes & side streets of this very busy city The Hotel is clean & tidy & has 5 floors My room is a single room on the 1st floor & faces the front of the building over looking a busy one way street my room is tidy & the breakfast is good A very nice hotel lanes
good location in the heart of old Genoa ,1.6 km from Genova Piazza Principe train station 10 mins by taxi , there are stairs to the lobby level not easy for wheelchair and heavy baggage, only one elevator , its old building but renovated. nice lobby and modern and storage rooms , clean room good size and bright ,clean and good toilet with bathtub, minibar ,flat TV, old style room key. the beds are good and comfortable. average breakfast buffet, friendly staff, free wifi
THe Best Western Hotel Metropoli is in a central location in the historic district, walking distance to Porto Antico and many Palazzos from the 16th Century. Also close to the elevators and funiculars up the hill for views of the city and the harbour. Bus stops very close by and not far from some great Genovese restaurants, beautiful churches and museums. Our room was comfortable and air conditioning worked, important on the very warm July days we were there. Great reading rooms, lovely welcoming staff and wonderful breakfast and rooms. Wifi in the room was a bit slow but fine in the public areas.
Excellent hotel in the centre of town. Cute little room that was still spacious with a huge bathroom and very clean!! Room had a kettle and coffee/tea which is a nice touch as many european hotels do no include this! They also gave us a complimentary goody bag of high-end L'Occtaine toiletries!! Staff were extremely friendly and free buffet breakfast was substantial and impressive!! One of the cheaper but most impressive hotels in Europe that we stayed at. Highly recommend for all travellers!
