Best Western Hotel Gardendale, Gardendale

I was given a room that was unclean, with a clogged bathroom and told no alternatives were available although I booked weeks in advance and confirmed that day. The room had an old shirt in it, no wash clothes or towels and lipstick on the comforter. Disgusting and disturbing that I'd be charged for this!

Wished all rooms were renovated. Thoroughly enjoyed utilizing the pool and surrounding area from eight in morning until nine at night. It was glorious. My room did not have a telephone, but did not realize until the last night when I went to call for wake-up call for Friday morning. I tried my cell phone, but it didn't work and as a result overslept.

Great Place to stay, the rooms were clean, the staff was so friendly., Location was great. for where we needed to go. The breakfast area was very clean and the food was hot and good, 24 hour coffee if you want it. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it,

My sisters and I (3) haven't been together on Mothers Day in 15+ years so the big sister surprised the other 2 with the motel stay. Our mother passed 10 years ago so we were doing things like shopping and eating and honoring her because this is what she liked to do!

Upon staying at this hotel, I loved the fact it was away from the main road, quiet area. Breakfast was well worth the stay. The price of the rooms was a very good value, and very clean! Could use more parking spots and room keys were a little finicky (Had to get it programmed several times).

This is an excellent hotel to stay at. The rates are comparable to other properties in the area. The staff is professional and friendly. The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The Internet works well and there is a good selection of channels on the TV. Breakfast in the morning has hot and cold items to choose from. The breakfast area is kept clean and well stocked. There are many choices for food in the area and it is convenient to areas of interest in Birmingham.

This hotel was very quiet. The rooms were clean and had everything that we needed. It was easy access to the freeway, since we were driving though the area. Close to Cracker Barrel which made it very convenient.

There were many cleanliness issues at this hotel: debris behind the refrigerator, maintenance issues with refrigerator, and dirty tile floor in room. There were no signs to direct us off the highway and the entrance is very dark. The front desk staff is very nice though. It was late, we were tired and were only staying one night, so we just sucked it up, but will not select this hotel again.

Travelling with a buddy in a short sightseeing/photography trip. This was perfect after out day at the sloss furnaces and to Huntsville next day. Room was clean. AC was wiring well. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a bit more variety than a lot of places during the pandemic. Price was reasonable. Not luxury but clean, safe and friendly so well worth the price.

This hotel was a disppointment. It is in dire need of repairs! Our room had no smoke detector, the closet shelf/coat rack came off, the shower curtain rod was installed at an angle so the curtain does not stay closed while showering. The bed felt like the head of the bed was lower than the foot of the bed. The stairs exit door handle was broke off. A housekeeping staff member was trying to get to the place that her cart was stored near the stairwell. The door would not open for her. If there had been a fire people would not have been able to use that door to get out. My husband pushed on the bar to open it. The bar then came off. He took the handle to the front desk to let them know. I'm sad to say I expected a whole lot more from a Best Western. That is why we made the reservation. The location was pretty good. Not far from shopping and eating establishments. The hotel staff was friendly, but until they update it and do the required maintainance I wouldn't recommend it!! Go to Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q. We both liked the food (I had Pig in the Garden Salad) and you get a large portion! Love Pulled Pork!

I will never be back. Leftover food was in refrigerator. Called to report and phone did not work. Killed a spider in the room. There were a group of men at the entrance that sat there smoking and drinking. I was going to report it but one of the workers was out there with them. Horrible experience.

The exterior of the hotel is well kept as well as the interior. The rooms are newly decorated and very clean. The beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly and professional. We have stayed at this hotel over the last few years and have never been disappointed with the stay even when they were remodeling last year. The breakfast area is clean and well kept. There is a variety of food choices. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the Birmingham area or just passing through. The beds are very comfortable.

Nice and quiet relax atmosphere good for business and meetings for small groups there is a pool outside a gym treadmills little more equipment than expected and if I needed anything the people at the counter would find a way for me to get it very very nice.

Best Western saved our trip! For the second time! We don't travel much, and as a large family we usually seek out inexpensive hotels. As a result, we occasionally wind up in unexpected situations. Coincidentally, Best Western was the hotel available in both cases when we needed a rescue. It is a budget hotel with basic amenities, but when you are exhausted, wanting a clean, safe place to stay, a hot shower, a good nights sleep, and a hot breakfast, Best Western serves the purpose!

Our family was on a road trip from Michigan visiting different southern cities and this was an excellent option on a location close to Cullman and Hanceville. Hot breakfast is a great advantage and our children like the options they offered. It is not the newest but it was clean and kept in good condition.

We noticed the fitted sheet was on inside out and not completely on. When we were trying to correct this we saw the mattress protector was unzipped and halfway pulled down, crippled in middle of the bed. We were then able to see debris and a few hairs directly on the mattress under the mattress protector. We cleaned all this and made the bed correctly. Sheets did appear clean. Luckily, because of COVID we had spray sanitizer with us. Slept on top of the top sheet.

Steer clear of this place. Here is my personal experience. When we entered our room I was taken aback by the condition of the beds. They were so poorly made, sheets untucked and blankets on crooked and pillowcases on inside out that thought they had mistakenly given us an occupied room! This was the least of our issues. When I went into the bathroom it was very obvious that the floors hadn't been cleaned well and I found two dead roaches in different very dirty corners. I also found on the wall next to the shower smears of something that looked like dried blood. Since we were already unpacked and very tired from a long day of travel, and it was just for one night, I figured we would just deal with it. Then we tried the TV. No luck. The TV didn't work. At All. We were so tired we just went to bed. The next morning while my father was shaving we found that our sink didn't drain!!! On checking out I mentioned some of these things to the front desk, no apology, nothing. I took pictures of all of this and plan to send this to corporate. This is not what I've come to expect from Best Western.

Nice room, nice people, near everything in town and if they didn't have things. They would find it for you.You didn't have to get turn down sevice daily and if you were not feeling well then they kinda left you to get better!

Most employees not wearing masks, ones that were had on chins/hanging off ear. When checking in, employee complained about mask then took off. They smoked right outside of main entrance. Rooms not clean. Would not recommend.

From the time I arrived to the time I departed...Rhonda at the front desk was exceptional & went far beyond my expectations. She was very professional, courteous, and very caring. I knew if I had a problem, she would resolve it. If my business or travel brings me to this location, I will not hesitate to make Best Western my choice.

My husband and I showed up around 11:15 pm and our room was dirty we didn't get into the room until an hour later, after they cleaned the room there was an apple behind the curtain. I will not stay there again.

Our reservations at a nearby hotel weren't honored because 'their system was down' so we had to find a new place to stay. We arrived at the front desk without a reservation, and were greeted by a friendly and helpful lady who shuffled some rooms around and got us a place to sleep for the night. Room was clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced.

Because of the rioting going on in large cities, we chose to stay north of Birmingham. This was an easy in, easy out motel. The had to go bags for breakfast and was careful with the keys to be placed in a box for cleaning and all the pens were picked from clean container and placed in a dirty container.

I stayed here two nights and everything was fantastic! The staff were all welcoming with smiling faces, friendly and offered superb customer service. Check in and out was easy and top notch. The grounds are well manicured and maintained, including the parking area and pool. The pool is not over crowded. The lobby areas are all well stocked with fresh coffee and extras and are spotless. Elevator was clean and worked well. The hall on the 3rd floor was extremely clean as was my room. Everything worked properly with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Bed was comfortable. When in the area again this is definitely my go to place for overnight accomadations. Perfect location being close to shopping and anything you could want for dining. I felt completely safe in this area and was very comfortable.

This place was fine as we were traveling on a road trip. No problems! This Best Western was modern, clean and safe. We had a downstairs room and it was fine. Breakfast was good, simple and adaquate. We would stay again.

Great Place to Stay! Amazing staff :) Breakfast is the BEST around with fried potatoes eggs sausages sausage gravy biscuits waffles with toppings instant grits and oatmeal 3 kinds of breads and Pastries also yogurt hard boiled eggs cereal! Will be back again!

Staff was pleasant, welcoming. Hotel sits on hill, next to I-20 & overlooking Gardendale, Al. Very convenient for any direction you are headed, diverse dining & shopping opportunities. Room comfortable & I felt safe/secure while staying there. Heading back that way in few days!

Nice hotel; friendly staff at the desk. Only hotel in Gardendale. Near Cracker Barrel. Only negative is it lacks safety bars for getting in and out of shower as well as lower safety bars for getting in and out of a bath.

Always friendly and efficient. Have stayed here many times and plan to again. It's one of the best and friendliest motels we use. I would recommend Best Western Gardendale AL above most motels in the nation.

Stayed here in October while attending the Barber vintage motorcycle festival. The staff is really nice couldn't do enough for you but this place is very old and really run down it has such a bad odor of cigarette smoke soon as you get off the elevator it almost makes you nauseous. I had to go immediately to a store and buy the air fresheners your hang from a car mirror I bought the large one just to make the room bearable to sleep in while I was here. Everything is dingy old and dirty would not stay here again. I feel sorry for Staff, as they try their best to make your stay pleasant but impossible with the place is run down

We have remodeled our hotel in the past 6 months and everything is new we are not finished yet we hope to be finished soon we would hope you would give us another chance. Our entire hotel is non smoking but you know there are people who will break the rules we do our best to keep it out.

We have been staying at this hotel for several years during our monthly visits to Birmingham. We have seen changes over the years, all for the good. They just remodeled and the decor is very nice. The breakfast area is clean and well-stocked with a variety of items including hot food. The staff is friendly and professional. I get a great night's sleep on their beds. I highly recommend staying at this hotel during your stays to the Birmingham area.

Very friendly staff. Location is different from others, off the road and hidden. Close to cracker barrel. Breakfast was pretty good. Rooms were quiet, clean, and bug free. BIG plus. Only complaint is the smoke smell in the hall around smoke free rooms. But would definitely stay here again.

Every time we go from TN to MS to visit family we stop at the half way point and stay at the Best Western in Gardendale. The very few problems we have had with this motel are always taken care of in a professional way. We love this motel and will always stay here when passing through.

Very quiet and remote, right off the highway but you wouldn't know it. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the usual fare. Nothing extraordinary but very good.

The hotel was clean and our room was recently updated. We had a king size bed. The mattress was firm. Plenty of space in the room. They have an outdoor pool and the water was warm. The patio area around the pool needs to be cleaned up some. The breakfast area was clean and they had a nice selection of food items. Sharon and Laurie fronted the desk and were both very pleasant. The only issue we had is in room 310 the hot water in the shower is hooked up wrong, so the hot is the cold and cold is hot. Would stay here again.

Everything about our stay here was wonderful. We had an easy check in and got a great night's sleep in comfortable beds in a clean room. After a filling breakfast, we easily checked out and were happily on our way, all refreshed. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We definitely recommend this Best Western!

set back for the interstate the quite time is needed for business travelers. the motel offers just that very quite setting in a wooded area that is very quite. giving you time to recharge for the next days drive or events.

They are in the process of finishing a remodel. The property is in a great location away from any noise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and they had the air conditioning running. The water pressure in the shower is average. They have a very good breakfast with a good selection of warm and cold items. I would stay here again.

I had an overall good experience. My room wasn't ready when I arrived and neither was the 2nd room. Both rooms had a "musty" like smell so it was good that I brought my own air freshner. The staff was really nice. Breakfast selections was plentiful. Pool was fun:!

We stayed for the first time at the Best Western Gardendale and had a restful night. The hotel is secluded up a hill off of I65. There is nothing else beside it so it was peaceful. The staff was friendly and the room was already cool on a hot day and clean. We had a King suite and it had a comfortable bed plus a pullout sofa and plenty of space. They have a standard breakfast from6:30-9:30. They do not have a snack store but do have drink and vending machines and provide coffee and cookies. The hotel is being renovated but we were not disturbed or inconvenienced at all. We would stay here again.

This property has just gone under renovations and I have to say I've stayed at other hotels for twice the price that weren't as good. Great bed, linens and pillows. New carpet, drapes, furniture. Very quiet. Compliments to Sharon at the front desk and to the attentive housekeeping. You won't go wrong staying here. It's a great value.

Overall state was good super friendly people at check-in and check-out made the hotel feel like home. The King's mini-suite Room was nice and spacious the breakfast was pretty good in the morning.. we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel

My room was very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and sheets clean. I enjoyed my breakfast both mornings I stayed and was satisfied. Great value for the price. Check in was a little slow, they had several phone calls while I was being served.

This hotel was clean and a good value. It was a close drive to Birmingham and the area meet my needs for restaurants and shopping. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was hot and fresh. I felt safe at the location and it was near I-65 which made it convenient to get to Birmingham.

My husband and I travel two hours one way every weekend to attend church. This is the place we always stay when we decide to get a room. I like the familiarity of the location and room. This is our go to. We tried another motel a few months back, but we came back here. The staff are always welcoming and kind. I would definitely recommend this BW for the breakfast, nice staff, the bed, and of course, the southern hospitality. We love to ouy, BW!

This hotel is a good option for an overnight stop on a long road trip, because the price is low and it is clean and comfortable. The location is convenient to freeway and there are several food options nearby.

Stayed in this location/hotel on several occasions. Always a clean room, friendly front desk attendant and fairly quiet. Close to several places to eat as well. This is my "go to" hotel anytime I am traveling thru Alabama.

We have been staying at this hotel for quite awhile and always look forward to the visit. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I always get the best night's sleep and enjoy the variety of items at breakfast. Because of this hotel, I have switched from staying at Hilton properties to always look for a Best Western properties to stay when we are traveling.

I always feel like I am coming home when I stay at BW Gardendale. I have come to know and love the staff as if they were my family. The remodel of the rooms are wonderful. I like the artwork as it brings a touch of Alabama.

This motel has a friendly and competent staff. Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. daily. I'd like to see Best Western vary the breakfast by serving bacon occasionally, and find a better scrambled egg product. Otherwise, the choices are good with hard boiled eggs, waffles, bagels, sweet rolls, juices, and good coffee. The hotel is undergoing a renovation, and should be really nice when complete. I had a first-floor room, which had not yet been remodeled. The staff said they will be enlarging the front area and reopening the fitness center. The bed was very comfortable. The room was nice, and should be even better when remodeled. The outdoor pool is clean and well maintained. This motel is a hidden gem in Gardendale!

Looking from the outside of the hotel it was not looking like the best hotel but it was great. Only thing was that for a family I would not sleep 2 to a bed. They were smaller than other hotels. breakfast was the best variation of choices. Bathroom was clean so was the room!!!

Thank you for your feedback. I will let you know that we are remodeling the hotel. Our rooms are double beds not queens so they are smaller. I am glad you were surprised I have a great group of girls that keep this hotel very clean. We hope you will come back soon.

Start with the good. The beds were comfortable and the temperature of the room was nice. The shower was hot and the pressure was great. The staff was friendly. Things that weren't so impressive. The room smelled really weird. Not like smoke but more musty and like it had been shut up, possibly dirty carpet? Basically it wasn't a pleasant smell and I couldn't wait to get away from it. The breakfast was your typical breakfast, nothing special. The breakfast room can possibly seat 16 people. So we had to take our food back to our room. There were too many people in that small area to comfortably move around and gather your things. The water from the juice machine was TERRIBLE. Tasted like it had never been cleaned before. It was gross, we had to just dump it out. If we were passing through this area we would probably look elsewhere. It was alright but not worth 130.00.

We are sorry you had a problem. We are in process of remodeling the hotel and everything will be new Our breakfast will become bigger during the remodel. I am sorry the water tasted so bad but there is not a whole we can do the machine is cleaned everyday but that is our city water and it always taste bad. They put all those chemicals in our water. I would hope that you would come back to see after the remodel and give us another try.. Thank you for your feedback.

We stayed at this hotel while we were in town visiting family. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It is a bit hidened but well worth the stay. Wish pool opened earlier in the mornings.

Checked into a different hotel but stayed less than an hour but that is a different story. We checked in to Best Western very late. Desk clerk was friendly and helpful, and even gave us a discount after she heard the horror story we had just experienced. Room was clean and beds were so comfortable. We will stay there again!

Quick trip to Gardendale to attend an honor awards ceremony for grandson gave me an opportunity to visit grandchildren and their parents and get to know the area better. Hotel provided comfort and relaxation that was vitally needed. Perfect location and ideal room and environs.

Booked room for a night on our way to Biloxi Ms. Clean room, staff was great, quiet stay, was on the 3rd floor, only thing was the breakfast room was not very big, lot of people there the next am eating and was a little tight for space, but over all was pretty good night.

these people give you wake-up calls when you did not request them. the hotel was not as advertised. the rooms are not at all sound proofed. the bathroom needed repairs. do not eat breakfast here. do not drink the brown water they call coffee.

Hotel is in need of a remodel. Made reservation on their website for a king. When I arrived was told I had reserved a smoking room (didn't even no those existed anymore). Only room left was a handicap room with two full beds next to front desk. Everything was old and outdated. Beds were extremely noisy anytime you got in or out or even moved. Room above us bed must have been worse because we heard them move every few minutes. Didn't get much sleep. Drive past and find another hotel.

We were on our way to Florida and stopped here. We liked the peaceful location up on a hill yet with eating establishments close by. Our room was very clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. Check in was a breeze with complimentary cookies and the next morning we enjoyed an excellent hot breakfast!

Smoke filled rooms, burning smell from cool/heat unit in room. Stayed here en-route to Florida, arrived late at night. Went to the two rooms we had booked through Best Western.com. they were smoking rooms. The hallway was like one big smoke cloud. Immediately went down to ask for new rooms - none available. Told we had booked smoking rooms - see photos nothing on our email confirmations told us this.Tried to find other property in the area to stay - no luck. In desperate need of rest, we were handed a spray bottle to go and spray the hallway and rooms. Spray was strong, and wasn't sure what we were breathing in. Room was cold as fan running at 61 degrees, I turned it to heat The unit smoked and let out burning smell. Felt unsafe, turned it off. Needless to say we did not get any sleep. Manager refused to offer any compensation to guests and told us to call Best Western. This was a horrible experience, would have had more understanding if the property manager/owner would have helped her guests.

Sorry you had a problem with the room the reservation was made through third party and we did not have any other rooms to move you to Our heater smoke when they turned on for the first time after the ac has been on, you were never in any danger.

Stayed here on way to Florida 3/30/18. The room was very outdated and dusty. Definitely time for a make over. Also there was NO Hot water ! We got up to shower and had to take freezing cold shower and no ice machine. The Breakfast was nice and front desk staff was friendly. Very hard to find on long road. No marked well.

We are going to remodel the entire hotel. The hot water was backwards the cold where hot should be and the hot where cold should be. The ice mach was at the end of 1st and 2nd floor at the back of the hotel.

This hotel was rather top notch from what I was expecting. First of all, they have us a gift bag with a couple water bottles and snacks. The room was nice and had a mini fridge and microwave. The breakfast is the best I've ever experienced. There was a wide variety of hot and cold options. This was well worth getting up for, and we're not big breakfast people. My only complaint is that the elevator smelled like smoke and the air in the room was stale.

We stayed at the Best Western Gardendale, In Gardendale Alabama, while on a trip from Long Beach, Mississippi, we were not sure where we were going to stay that day, so we checked our phone for possible locations, and i'm glad the Best Western Gardendale came up. we called was quoted a great price, when we arrived at the hotel everything was great.,

Driving to the Panhandle from Michigan we found this little gem. Sharon at the front desk was extremely helpful and honest. The rooms are big and clean. The bed was really comfortable and we enjoyed the snack and full breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Rhonda was very accommodating over the phone as we drove and made reservation. Room was big, clean and comfortable. The only complaint we have is there was something in the backstairs on the 3rd floor that banged, and vibrated our room on the 2nd floor. It happened one time before we fell asleep then 3 more times during the night. Didn't last long but front desk night/morning didn't seem to know anything about it? Breakfast was good and plentiful. Good stay except for banging noise.

My wife and I had driven 500 plus miles that day and being in our mid-seventies were very tired. The check-in experience was fast and the employee at the counter was very efficient. Our room was very clean -- one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's rest. The breakfast selection was more than adequate .

Just a one night stay. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel and room was clean and quite. My wife was having a operation at UAB. This hotel was a short distance away. She was to have a 2nd operation 5 days later, but it was postponed. I had booked a room for the 2nd operation, but canceled that room. It was a pleasant stay the one night and we will stay there again when the next operation is reset.

Upon arrival was given smoking room that said non smoking on door and online, but was told that type of room is only a smoking room, next room moved to had ants all over it and was told that's just what happens when you live in the south. Ne,t room we were moved to smelled like mildew, actually the whole floor had the smell. We were told that even though we were down graded to a different room they couldn't adjust price because we booked on there website. And after other room conditions we wanted to leave but they would not give us a refund. Horrible would not recommend to anyone, stayed at drury inn last time and was so much better.

I apologize for letting you down during your stay with us. I was told about the ants in the room and you having to be moved into a different room I wasn't aware of the musky or moldy smell. I spoke to the clerk and she said nothing was ever mentioned about you leaving or wanting your money refunded I'm somewhat confused because this was a two night stay did all this occur on the second night also with the reservation being third party you will have to take care of this with them.

Breakfast was okay, rooms were large and comfortable, but the best thing about BW in Gardendale is it's staff! It's rare that I have stayed at a hotel where they literally made me feel right at home. I have found it at the pristinely clean Best Western in Gardendale. Wonderful, staff who wanted to make our short stay perfect! And they did! Thank you! The walls were a little thin and our neighbors not very quiet, but that was not anyone's fault.

Even tho I called a couple of times to report pouncing on the floor above nothing stopped this. I was informed there was nothing more they could do. The noise stopped around 1:30 a.m. and then began again around 3 a.m. We got little sleep. Staff simply not willing to resolve this issue

In town for a family wedding and the Best Western Gardendale was the most convenient hotel. The customer service provided by Sharon & Rhonda was exceptional. The hotel, while not fancy, was clean and offered everything we needed for our stay.

We paid over $150 for one night all the chairs were hard chairs no we're comfortable to sit the beds were hard the air conditioner had a mildew problem and there was a general foul order on the third floor we stayed

I have stayed here many times alone and I feel safe here. Some areas in Birmingham I wouldn't stay due to the safety issue. This hotel is sitting on a hill and it's quiet even though the interstate is down the hill. There is a Cracker Barrel right at the hotel and many other restaurants are on the there side of the interstate. A shopping mall is at the next exit South which only takes minutes to get there. This isn't a Westin hotel but it's a great hotel. I will stay here again.

Thank you for staying with us. We are in a safe area just outside of Birmingham. Yes eating places and shopping is one thing we are not lacking just about any kind of food and shopping you need. We are not far from a lot of other places either. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Great for the price. Staff great, clean, great breakfast, very comfortable rooms! Price good. Close enough to shop and dine, yet not noisy with traffic. Definitly our next Bama game or business trip will be a stay at this location!

Stayed at Best Western Gardendale for one night during our travels. We found it to be clean, quiet and comfortable. Asked for dinner suggestion and we went for b-b-q (Jim And Nicks B-B-Q) and it was delicious. I would return to this hotel.

Signage to locate motel almost non-existant. Charged a $1 for making a reservation. Charges at check in more than on the confirmation. Loud talking and pounding on doors at 5:30 a.m. Not a good experience.

Thank you for your feedback. We are working on getting the must grown up trees cut down it just takes a while to get the paper work done. I am sorry for the 1.00 dollar charge but the hotel does not do that it is usually a third party that the reservation is made with. Not real sure who would be knocking on doors that time of the morning because there were very few guest in the building that night and our staff does not start work until 8:30 in the morning. Sorry for the inconvenience. We do hope you will try us again. Thank you

Needed a quiet, clean place to stay. Saw the BW sign on the hwy I65, we know we can count on BW for just that reason. Always a good experience, and staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks Best Western

Comfortable and quiet with clean updated room and a great breakfast in the morning. All the staff were overly friendly, almost to a fault, and very helpful about pointing us in the right directions when we needed them. Bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in for ages. Wish I could have brought it home with me.

There was a strong odor smell coming out of the air conditioner. Upon entering the room, there was strong chemical smell in the room masking the mold smell. We alerted the front desk of the problem and was told that it would be handled. It never was.

I am so sorry we let you down our your visit to our property. I'm not sure where the musky smell was coming from. There were several rooms during this week that had a funny smell. I believe it was from all the excess rain we had from the effects of the hurricane. I cant guarantee this but we have never had this problem before. We are working on fixing our A/C's during this time to make sure that this doesn't happen again. If you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere... but if you want a well-maintained... welcoming... clean.... quiet... safe place to stay this is for you. It was the best night sleep I had on a long road trip.

The towel rack broke when I removed a towel, but the staff did fix it very quickly. The bathroom door did not latch shut and would pop open. There were some other minor broken items in the room that didn't necessarily affect the overall stay. But it was surprising to find them in that state. The bed was very hard.

We had to change hotels at the last minute and Rhonda was very helpful and found us exactly what we needed. Price turned out to be significantly cheaper than the hotel we had originally reserved. The room was clean, AC running, and everything in place.

We visited family in the area and had a very nice stay at the Gardendale Best Western. We stayed at 2 other BWs on our trip and none of them had Tennis Channel on their tv line up, but Gardendale did and I am a big tennis fan.

This particular hotel has been serving us for the last 16 years! Our grandchildren live here and Ms. Rhonda, the manager, couldn't be more helpful. When I call to reserve a room, she always remembers me. She takes pride in making us feel welcome and everything is always ready and waiting when we check in! She has the personality that makes the success of this hotel property! She truly cares about her customers! When in this area, stay at the Best Western in Gardendale, AL!

The staff were very nice and knowledgeable of the area. They were also very accommodating and were able to meet all our needs during our stay. The only issue was the humidity was so high in the area that the room was sort of damp but it wasn't uncomfortable.

I am sorry about the humidity but this is the south (ha,ha) we put up with this all summer, and we do our best to stop the rooms from feeling that way. Thank you again we hope to see you soon.

Stayed overnight with a large U-Haul truck. Great hotel, good breakfast, but not the best physical location for a large U-Haul. It is located up a steep hill. Not a problem for cars, but a bit of a challenge for a fully loaded truck. Stayed in late May, pool was not yet open. No important for me this trip, but if you care about such things you may want to call ahead.

My husband and I were there for 2 nights while having Dr appointments in Fultondale. Deb and Rhonda are so nice . Rooms are always very clean. Breakfast is fantastic and has a good variety of foods.They will do their best to make your stay perfect.

My stay was nice. The area was secluded which was wonderful. The staff was kind and assisted me with finding a restaurant for dinner. The location was near restaurants and shopping area. I will mostly stay at this location again when in the area.

We were in a non smoking room on a non smoking floor. Smell of smoke in the elevator and in hallway on our floor was overwhelming. Came into room at times. Thankfully we were only staying one night or would have left early.

I am sorry about the smoke smell you were on the floor with smoking rooms at the back of the hall we try real hard to keep the smell down.

I arrived at 10pm. The online reservation that I made defaulted to a smoking room, which I did not want. The lady who checked me in saved a non-smoking king room for me just in case it was a mistake. I was so grateful!!! I want to say an extra thank you to Sharon Pair for saving the non-smoking room for me. I was so tired when I arrived after a long day of driving and I really really appreciated it. Sharon was so friendly and kind, she really went out of her way and did a great job. The only disappointment was that the lobby, elevator and hallway all smelled of cigarette smoke. Apparently they still have smoking rooms and it smelled bad everywhere. Luckily my non-smoking room did not smell of smoke, thank goodness. The room was nice and updated. The hotel was also in a peaceful, quiet location.

This hotel was amazing to say the least the lady I dealt with at the front desk was awesome at her job and went above and beyond for me to have the best stay that I could! I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone going to the Birmingham area! The only problem I had was someone slit my trailer tire and wrote some very nasty things on the side of my trailer! I tried to call to see if they could check the cameras to see who done it but no one had answered the front desk phone!

Very nice service, rooms, quiet environment, smoking rooms as well which are very hard to find in hotels now. Overall satisfied, will be going back. Prices are also reasonable and affordable, great staff!

Close enough to Birmingham yet quiet town with many stores and restaurants and better price. Walmart and Target near. Very good breakfast with many options. Very caring staff! Great location! Comfortable bed and pillows. Fridge and Microwave in room.

The eating places is one thing Gardendale is not without, and we are glad because if you are here for awhile to do have a big chose. Our shopping is great we are close to everything. The front desk staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean. The hotel was located far enough off of the road to have a quiet environment for sleeping. The breakfast offered a variety of options from eggs, waffles, and pastries to bagels, fruit, and yogurt.

We stay at this hotel fairly often and have always been satisfied with our stays. The rooms are well-decorated and the beds are comfortable. I especially took a critical look at the restroom and was not disappointed. It was very clean and well lit. The toilet and shower are in a room separate from the vanity and sink. This allows my husband to take his shower while I put on my make-up. The breakfast is basic but adequate. There are eggs, sausage and waffles as well as other breakfast items such as muffins, yogurt, and fruit. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. I recommend this hotel to other friends who stay in this area.

This hotel is located just off I 65, exit 271. It was reasonable and a great mini suite with king bed. Rm 220. Gentleman at front desk was not speedy but rather thorough and pleasant. Location not walking distance to restaurants but they have 3 pizza places that deliver. Other sit down places are east of the hotel 3-5 miles down the main road. Bed was comfortable and everything was clean. It was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend to anyone.

As we were traveling south, BWP was there when we needed a place to stay in the middle of the night. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and the staff very hospitable. Their continental breakfast was bigger and better than I've ever have. Highly recommend.

Convenient, quiet location close to Interstate, restaurants, short ride to Birmingham. Very clean property, attentive staff, good size rooms, comfy bed with real comforter not some thin cover, plenty of hot water and free flowing bathroom drains, full breakfast and reasonable rates all combine to produce a rating of "excellent" in my opinion.

This Best Western is on a hill away from traffic. The location has a natural beauty that makes it a pleasant place to stay. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and easy to converse with. The facility is in a top rate condition. The room was outstanding all the way around. We enjoyed our breakfast in very nice surroundings.

The hotel and room is nice but the front desk staff goes above and beyond. The room is nice and the area is even better but I have no reservations in recommending this hotel for anyone needing a room in the Gardendale area. I will be staying here again in the future.

We were passing through, it was late and raining. We stopped here for the night. The front desk clerk seemed very distracted and confused. Our room was musty smelling and the bed was very uncomfortable. I would think for the price there would at least be queen sized beds. I don't think I would stay here again.

This is a great place to stay whether driving through or planning an extended stay. The staff is friendly and professional. There have been very few problems but if there was one it was corrected in a timely manner. The beds are comfortable and the internet is fast. The channels available on the TV provide a variety of interests. The breakfast is fresh including make your own waffles, sausage, eggs, and white gravey. There are mini-muffins, yogurt, and fresh fruit. We always look forward to our stay. The hotel is located near a great variety of restaurants and fast food places.

The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. I'm not sure what made this a Best Western Plus ... to us, it was just a typical mid-grade hotel. The Internet service was less than adequate ... after about 10-15 minutes of use, it just shut down. Our devices showed as connected, but there was no data being sent or received. We passed on the breakfast - we just aren't fans of the typical hotel breakfast. All in all, it was an acceptable place to stop for the night on our way home from vacation.

An excellent hotel. Clean, well appointed rooms. Sits back by itself away from the highway but not too far to drive to restaurants. Beds were comfortable. A very nice breakfast. Good parking. Friendly staff. Definitely would make this a stop if traveling anywhere in the area again.

Miss Sharon was awesome and so sweet. The pool was cool as well it had different color of lights for the night and I can't recall ever seeing that in a hotel pool before. Work on that breakfast and ya got 10s across the board from me!

Please see negatives- pool was not cleaned up once in 7 days, ice machines- only one functional, rooms need a critical eye to improve. Staff is outstanding! Friendly, helpful, keeps a close eye on the place, local police do to.

I was in Birmingham because of a medical emergency and the hotel was very accommodating. They made sure that the room was ready upon arrival and the check-in was quick. Since we were exhausted this was very helpful.

Monthly my husband and I travel to Birmingham to visit the Latter-day Saint temple. We have been staying at this hotel for over 3 years and have not been disappointed in the stay. They have worked hard to upgrade and make this hotel a five star experience. We are routinely welcomed by courteous, professional staff. The room is well decorated and the beds are comfortable. I have had good wifi connection and the TV is new. If you are in the area, we recommend considering this hotel for your stay.

This a very clean, pleasant Best Western. The staff is efficient and kind. The rooms are clean. The complete breakfast is a lifesaver for families. This is our second stay and it is now marked on our map. Thank you Best Western for Gardendale.

We arrived late at night after traveling many hours and were met with great service. Our room was very comfortable and clean! I did have two tiny complaints: 1 there isn't a trash can in the bathroom. That can be a real problem for ladies. 2 the deadbolt does not lock. Thankfully the other lock does work but if traveling alone this might be a bigger issue. Overall an excellent experience!

Fortunately, we didn't get a chance to stay here. The front desk manager, Rhonda Gipson was very nasty and disrespectful. We were traveling home from vacation searching for a place for a place to stay that evening around 9pm. Everything seemed to be booked within a 70min radius. I walked in without my husband, and Rhonda was on the phone. She looked up and glanced at me. I didn't expect her to speak to me right away until she got off the phone, of course. She proceeded to talk with someone about their stay at the hotel and after inputting their information she gave them a confirmation # and advised them when they came in to just stop by and grab keys to their room. We had called maybe 10min prior and Rhonda advised us there were 2 rooms available. A couple walked in with food a moment later and she got off the phone and proceeded to talk with them. 10-15min had passed since I walked in. Not acknowledging I was there she struck up a conversation with the couple. I walked a bit closer to the couple, maybe 1ft and she still ignored me. I walked out and walked back in because I couldn't believe how disrespectful she was being. I interrupted them and asked her "if she saw me standing there?" She said very rudely and nasty "yea I see ya standing there" and proceeded with her conversation with them. They stopped talking to her wondering why she hasn't helped me. I told her she was very rude and walked out. I advised my husband what had happened and he walked in without me and she proceeded to talk to him as soon as he stepped in not knowing he was my husband. He asked about a room and she replied and then asked her why she didn't acknowledge me (his wife whom had just stepped in a moment ago) and she replied "because she was giving the couple her undivided attention." He replied "but my wife was standing at the desk right in front of you long before they had even arrived to the hotel." She had no response. There were cameras and I advised corporate and the customer care team to take a look at them.

I stayed here for business, but brought my family. The hotel was very nice and clean and the staff was very friendly! We had a King suite, which was very spacious. The free breakfast was very good. Check in and check out was speedy. I would definitely stay there again!

Great staff, clean and large bathroom, comfy pillows, good bed, looked like a good breakfast, although hubby won't eat at hotel breakfasts. I did think it was a little pricey, although the staff made up for it.

We lodge at this Best Western twice each year while attending a church function near Haden, AL. The staff is friendly, and does everything to insure that we have a great place to stay. The location of the hotel is great because it is near an interstate as well as being close to eateries.

We love staying at the Best Western Gardendale. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean, and the bed is comfortable. We have stayed at this hotel for a number of years and have never been dissatisfied. They have made numerous improvements and are getting better and better. The breakfast in the morning is adequate for a good healthy meal. Because of this hotel, we have become Best Western customers when we need to stay in other cities for soccer tournaments.

There seem to be a lot of variables with this hotel. The location is good. It is close to eating places and shopping. It is clean. The people we met were friendly and nice. Our bed was comfortable and the room was pretty big (King Study-Non smoking) I liked that they provide a caddy for moving luggage in and out and I liked that they had a luggage rack to put your suitcase on, though it was on the far wall away from the closet and bath, so we never used it. There is a cubby for a fridge and microwave beside the front door. It seemed rather dark but that could be because the overhead light did not always work. Also there was no night light in the hairdryer or anywhere else. There was a coffee maker and coffee, no tea. The bathroom is compact and awkward with only one towel rack which is coming loose from the wall. There was a small sofa near the window and A/C unit which was uncomfortable because it was hard and low and also because if you sat there the A/C blew on you. (No extra blanket, pillows or covers provided) The light blocking curtains were tucked in with the sheers in a rather tacky way but I left them b/c it didn't look like I could close them again if I disturbed them. That turned out to be fine because I developed a headache soon after moving in. For us, the greatest disadvantage to staying here is that it is not a "No Smoking" hotel, a fact that escaped my notice when booking. Big room tip: do not stay on third floor if you are bothered by cigarette smoke like me. I booked through TripAdvisor and got a lower rate, maybe because you pay in advance. The hotel assigned us to third. We had no reason to question it, but we were immediately assaulted by the strong odor of stale smoke as soon as the elevator door opened on third floor. Directly in front of us were rooms marked "Non-Smoking". It was quite confusing. There were only a few of those. We complained to the front desk immediately after reaching our room but were told they could not move us because they had no more rooms. They have your money and you have whatever you have. We were due at a dinner in an hour, so we had to change and get going. The hallway was always noxious. Our room reeked mostly in the mornings and evenings when smokers were in theirs, but it was always unpleasant. I developed a headache rather quickly and kept it during the entire stay. The only thing that saved me I suppose was my bi-pap mask which I wear at night. I noticed as I unpacked that everything in my suitcase smelled like cigarettes. My husband was very unhappy with this hotel. He stayed out of it as much as possible. I did not go down to breakfast the first morning because of the headache, but he complained that he tried to eat the sausage and a biscuit and wound up throwing them away. The sausage, he said, was rubbery and the biscuit colder than room temp. I ate a protein bar in the room with tea I brought from home, put my bi-pap back on and went back to bed, trying to sleep when maids in the hall weren't calling out to each other or running a high-pitched vacuum.. To be fair, there were other food options which we tried the next day before leaving-yogurt, instant oatmeal and a boiled egg. There are the usual sweet rolls and standard bagels and a waffle machine if you want to cook. The dining area is quite small-maybe five tables, tightly clustered in one end of the lobby. Not very appealing at all. We left quickly since people were standing with food and no place to sit. For a low budget, this hotel offers a clean room and comfortable bed but be wary. Know what room you are getting before paying for it, and if you get sick from smoke keep going. There are other hotels in Fultondale, just one exit away.

Not only does the cleanliness of this hotel rank high . But they have a great and caring staff. Breakfast was put out extra early per our request . The hotel is just north of downtown but close enough to be convenient .

Nice place to stay with small fridge/freezer and microwave. If you bring peanut butter, don't put it on the top shelf of the closet. While gone to a business meeting, I got back to a million tiny ants in the closet. I called the front desk. No one could come and spray, but they had spray that I could use. I moved all of my hanging clothes out and cleaned out the entire closet. Sprayed bug spray, then did NOT use the closet again. I live in Alabama, so I can say that while I have had tiny ants like these come in looking for water, I have never had them in a bedroom closet. I recommend that this hotel take steps to keep the ants outside of the property. I was on the 2nd floor, so the hotel needs to update it's ant invasion procedures.

This is our second stay at this location. Both times, the hotel was very clean. The facility seems to be in very good working order. The bedding and pillows are very comfortable. In our experience, it is hard to find a clean hotel that has smoking rooms as sometimes we travel with a smoker in our group. You could vaguely smell smoke in the halls of our floor, but our nonsmoking room did not have any odor from the smoking rooms on the same floor.

We have family nearby this location, and we stay there quite often. They are very accommodating of us and our teenaged autistic son who needs to be away from anything that sounds mechanical (i.e. The laundry room etc.) They are welcoming, and always make us feel quite at home. We look forward to our trips. They let us visit in the lobby breakfast area in the evenings when family stops in, and have even had coffee available for us to enjoy. We always have a clean room, and our family really appreciates the attitudes of the staff.

Staff was very attentive and friendly. Room was very clean. The king had a sofa and desk which was a plus. the internet was Free which was a surprise and worked without a problem. It offered a gym but I didn't use but will remember for next time. I would recommend the King Room to anyone.

We are fortunate to stay at this hotel at least once a month and are never disappointed. Over the years we have been coming to the Birmingham we look forward to staying at this Best Western. In fact, their friendly staff and increased quality of decor, rooms, and breakfast have prompted us to stay at other Best Western hotels as we travel with our grandkids for soccer. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. It is evident that the hotel staff is proud of their hotel and do there best to make the stay memorable. Looking forward to future visits.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Location is very convenient to interstate and shopping. The rooms are always clean and the staff is very friendly. Rates are reasonable and better than other hotels in the area.

We always enjoy visiting with this hotel. The staff is pleasant, professional, and very courteous. The room have been tastefully decorated and the beds are comfortable. The TV's are modern and there is a variety of programs to watch. The wifi worked perfectly and we had no problems connecting. The breakfast was adequate and the staff greeted us with a friendly smile and helpful attitude.

Very good room, ample space sofa & desk in side area from bed, very clean Only negative was the access road to the motel was up a steep hill and off of the main exit road from the interstate. There was a small sign pointing to motel at access road. Also minor issue with waffles sticking to waffle iron, but rest of breakfast was good and included hot eggs.

Excellent! The hotel was great. Parking was easy and well placed. The hotel was easy to access. It was a great stay and we will definitely use Best Western in the future. The rooms were clean and the cable was very good. The bath and shower was easy to use. There were plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc. We had everything we needed.

We stay at this hotel at least once a month and are never disappointed in the value and consistency in the room cleanliness, hospitality of the staff, the sleep quality of the beds, and the breakfast items. We enjoy our stay and always feel welcome. I had to visit Birmingham for a soccer training and the staff was very accommodating with a change in reservation. I look forward to our monthly visits and would not consider staying at a different hotel.

We were on our way to Florida and stayed at your best Western. everything was wonderful and when we left I left my robe, my husband called and talked to Debbie (I think that was her name) telling her our situation, she checked it out and called us back, holding it until we went back home and picked it up. We were passing through Alabama when we found this Best Western. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Staff was friendly. The only issue I saw was in the main entry way it looked as if they have had a plumbing problem, several of the ceiling tiles had been removed.

Very noisy at night due to thin walls and ceiling. Very noisy on day time due to work on water pipes. Unstable WiFi signal. Pool was closed -"out of season" (Mid. September 90F hot day). No hot water during most of the 2 days stay, no cold water either in bath. Unexpected early wake up calls (nobody asked for them).Worst money to value we ever experienced in BW.

I was worried about this place since I don't normally stay in 2 star hotels. But I was very pleased. It is older and nothing fancy, but the rooms were clean, amenities were good, staff is nice, and it felt safe. The beds are very comfortable and the location is good.

The coffee could be better and there is no diabetic friendly food on the breakfast bar. The staff is friendly, the service was great and beds are very comfortable. I would recommend this motel highly if you are in the Gardendale area.
