    « BW Western stay »

great hotel. Water pressure could be better - our only complaint. The room was excellent. Amenities were good. Great location and we would surely reccomend this hotel to others. We were guest of the day and that was wonderful!

    « Great Place! »

Staff is attentive and very welcoming. They always always always make all the process go smoothly from booking the suite to the shuttle services. Mike and Brian as the best of the best!!! They take the worry out of the commute during my visits. Always on time and very helpful. I definitely recommend!

    « Can't Recommend »

To say that I was underwhelmed would be putting it mildly. The hotel is gorgeous from the outside and check in was easy with friendly staff. We had booked via Priceline and got a good rate but not great - so when we got to our room it was a handicapped-friendly one, complete with shower chair, no closet (coat rack). That was not acceptable for us, so I headed down to see about changing rooms. The friendly guy said ?yeah I noticed that, Priceline always gives you the best rate on the cheapest room.? So he was fully aware what room he was giving us and said nothing. I would have upgraded us had I been given the option to do so. They changed us to a room with 2 double beds, which was fine even though we would have preferred another King in a regular room. The room we were given was obviously neglected. It's not that it was old or needed updating. It was that the little details had been skipped - like the comforter not being properly tucked in, the bathroom toilet paper wasn't folded (a sign to me that it hadn't been cleaned), and the sink wouldn't drain right - apparently the stopper was damaged and stayed almost completely shut. There was mold on the caulk on the lower (floor) corner of the tub. And I had caught a cold on the trip only to find that the tissue box was empty. Hot water was consistent in the shower and water pressure was good. The beds were pretty standard - but we've been on a long trip across country and have been really impressed at the Best Westerns where we've stayed. This one just looks like they've stopped caring. Breakfast was terrible. I don't expect fine dining, but the potatoes were rubbery and I can't believe they call that coffee. It just tasted wrong, almost fizzy. No idea what was happening there. Also, the breakfast staff people were oblivious to those of us waiting at the coffee bar, standing in our way for no apparent reason. So overall I wouldn't recommend staying here. It looks beautiful but don't be fooled - they seem to have stopped caring about your stay and are more interested in drawing you in.

    « Excellent property »

Very nice caring staff. Excellent accommodations ! Will stay here again when we come down. The restaurant staff was also very nice and caring. The food was excellent and was given a lot of it. They brought it to my room at 10:30 pm !

« The staff is absolutely wonderful! Especially Sharon, Melinda and Emily »

We travel a lot and this is our favorite people place. Every single, not some, not most...every single person on staff at this hotel is an delight to see. We always are made to feel at home. Thank you all for your care and professionalism. Mark and Caroline

« Resonably priced, clean and nice hotel »

I've been staying at this hotel on business for years. Each year I come back there is always an improvement. This last time was such a great experience. There is a pool, hot tub, nice workout facility and everyone who works at the hotel is very nice.

    « one night stay »

Very nice clean hotel, room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom shower area could use a little updating but overall great room. We ate some appetizers at the Sports Den pub and Elisabeth was very friendly and the had some great food recommendations. Breakfast was very nice and for $3.00 you can get a fresh omelet made.

« Visitor from the Caribbean »

I would advise guest to double check there bill at checkout because there might be unknown charges as was in my case. Also, reconfirm your reservation with the hotel and ensure they have recorded that you requested shuttle service as they tend not to not recall that shuttle service was requested. I suggest confirming twice the day before.

    « Pleasant surprise »

One of the nicest Beat Westerns I've stayed at. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Breakfast was the usual farrle, but eggs were real (not typical powdered) and they had made to order omletes for a small upcharge. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Amazing staff »

Exceptional staff all the way from the front of the house to the banquets. General manager Ron has put together an unbelievable staff. I've been in the convention management, restaurant and catering business for over 35 years and this is impressive. Banquet managers Josh and Kevin put together an unbelievable presentation for over 200 people. I've never seen a banquet Buffet line move that fast and have the food taste as good as it did. Banquet service staff of Emily, Rachel, Melinda, and others did a great job with a huge tent and outdoor setting serving that many people. It was absolutely perfect. Chief engineer Adam had a big job to do and everything was flawless.

    « Very Impressed »

Too many good things about this hotel. Spotless room and bath, comfy couch to sit on instead of the beds, quiet, quiet, quiet and terrific staff. The on location grill had the most friendly wait staff even though we popped in for only a before dinner snack. The first floor room we had was on a very short hallway, so that really helped with noise reduction. The complimentary breakfast was very extensive, including a made to order omelette bar. I would stay again if we are in the area.

    5
    « Great place »

Very enjoyable stay. The general manager Ron was exceptionally helpful in providing space for our RV. And Emily at the morning breakfast is one of the best egg makers there is. This hotel is very clean and the grounds are well manicured and well kept.

    « We didn't stay here! »

Today I booked a non-refundable room through Ebates at this hotel for an upcoming event this weekend. I inadvertently selected the wrong date and realized so after I clicked the "Book" button. I immediately called the Ebates help line to have corrected to no avail. The Ebates representative called the hotel directly and mentioned I might have to pay a penalty which I agreed. After waiting a bit, he returned to me saying that even after speaking to management, there was nothing they could do. I am out the full cost of the room unless I can transfer to a friend who might want to stay that night. Not a solution for me!

    « Work »

This hotel was nice. They allow pets and have a sports bar around back. Staff is very nice, and I wanted to mention Alicia in maintenance. She was so helpful and sweet. Harley Davidson across the street. Breakfast is same everyday with a omelette station that you have to pay for.

    « Excellent Service / Wonderful People »

I was staying at the Hotel for a business workshop and utilized one of the large banquet rooms. I forgot to bring a projector with me from work and did not request one for the room at the time I made the reservations but Kathy Lezcano quickly resolved my dilemma and made sure all was going well throughout the rest of the day. I would also like to say that Rachel a server in the Continental breakfast area was a true GEM. She saw I was having a rough morning and took the time to calm me down and chat with me for a few minutes, (THANKS RACHEL)

    « Easter Luncheon »

My family and I attended the annual Easter luncheon at the hotel this past Sunday and I can't say enough about the service! Our server Hannah was amazing! She was friendly and attentive even with the other large groups she was attending to at the same time. It is servers like Hannah that make you want to come back! We won't forget her smile and will definitely be back to celebrate next year. Thank you Best Western for another great Easter luncheon.

« Easter buffet Kathy Lezcano »

I had a wonderful experience here for the Easter buffet Kathy was attentive very helpful and friendly she made my Easter one of the best holidays I have had being recently I lost my husband during the holidays it meant a lot to me to see how hard and dedicated to her job and the customers comfort and happiness

    3
    « Decent hotel stay »

The hotel was clean, the front desk staff was friendly, and the room was large with a comfortable bed. The complimentary breakfast provided the typical options with the addition of an omelette station where you could pay $3 to have one made to order.

    5
    « JUST AWESOME SERVICE »

Occupied a conference room for an entire week in March 2018 - Hannah Lombardo and Kathy Lezcano went the extra mile every morning putting smiles on all our faces! A legal procedure that was less than fun made comfortable by these two ladies.

    « Not so good »

Check in took a while as they were answering the phone instead of taking care of people at desk. First thing we noticed was that the floor had not been vacuumed. They sent someone from house keeping up to do it. One of the towels had a yucky stain that was that had to have come after it was washed. There was no cream or sugar for the coffee, which didn't matter because we couldn't get the Keurig to work. I think this is a place where there are a lot of meetings, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. They really need an update.

    5
    « best hotel service »

I can say the service in this hotel is excellent. also the rooms and hotel feels like home. recommend this place as number one. they make you feel at home by giving you anything you need and promptly. it is also a quiet atmosphere and they give you transportation to several locations. In all we have tried other hotels in the past but this one tops it off by far.

    5
« Extremely friendly helpful and comfortable stay »

I am extremely happy with my stay at this property. From check in to check out the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even got their shuttle driver in extremely early in the morning for me to make the airport for 4:45am. I had started to lose faith in the Best Western brand with a couple bad stays. This place has renewed my loyalty to the brand.

    3
« Looks good from the outside, service good; rooms are dated »

We picked this hotel because pictures made it appear to be a nice-looking convention/ wedding hotel and it is reasonably close to a restaurant where we wanted to eat on our drive south through Florida on our way to Naples. The location is good, although it's near the interstate, but tucked far enough away that we heard no traffic noise. The property is clean with a modern outside appearance and grounds. The breakfast was decent and free except for made-to-order omelets. There was a big wedding group booked in the hotel, but we weren't really bothered by that noise. The drawback is that the rooms are in need of an upgrade, and in our view not worth the price; we paid over $180 including tax. I won't review it separately, but the hotel bar (Gators Den) was a pretty sad place and the food looked like what you'd get at a Denny's. We only had drinks there but saw others at the bar eating dinner; they didn't appear pleased. We won't stay here again, likely booking a Hampton Inn or similar hotel when we stay in Gainesville the next time.

« Went for The Races, Will Return Anytime! »

Great place to stay! Very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was adequate but if you splurge for the omelette it is well worth it (4 bucks) Stayed for the Gatornationals but I will use this hotel for any trips to that area. Rooms were cleaned magnificently each night and because I was a Best Western member I was greeting with great goodies!

« Guest Of The Day »

The Best Western Gateway Grand was a stop over between Nashville and Sanibel. When I booked the room I got a confirmation email from Kristen before I got off the phone with her. As I'm checking in I noticed the sign behind the desk that said I'm the "Guest Of The Day" and it just kept getting better. Alexandria checked me in and was fantastic. My Wife and I will be using this hotel again in the future.

    « Excellent staff »

We have been at Best Western for the past five weeks for a graduate nurse training program. The staff has been excellent, especially Kathy Lezcano. She always made sure that we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable. Excellent customer service!

    5
    « Kevin and Jerome »

Kevin and Jerome were the best waiters we've ever had at military ball! They did a wonderful job as waiters and they seems to have fun while doing it. I definitely recommend Kevin and Jerome for waiter/staff members of the month!

    4
    « Very comfortable stay »

We were here for an event at Santa Fe Community College. Best Western made our stay very convenient with transportation to and from the airport, as well as the college. The drivers, Mike and Ray, couldn't have been nicer. The room was clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was great.

    « Great Stop on I-75 »

Having just stayed at a Best Western in New Orleans, heading home to South East Florida, we decided to stop at this Hotel. This is the second time we stayed at a BW Hotel and were totally delighted with the service, room, breakfast and parking. I would definitely stay here again and based on our experience with BW hotels we would look for them on future trips. The staff makes you very welcomed and cannot do enough for you. We even joined their hotel club which we normally do not do. Easy access on and off I-75.

    « A special omelet for $3.00. »

This hotel has it all. Beauty Hotel physical structure, clean & well maintained. Staff appears to be very good. The breakfast annoyed me ! The hotel declares that the breakfast is "Free Deluxe Breakfast" Besides the waffle maker, there were two hot dishes: "scrambled eggs & "biscuits & gravy" and there was a $3.00 charge for an omelet. When I pay $170.00 for a room & $20 more for taxes, I don't expect a $3.00 charge for a breakfast item. If the hotel wants to make the breakfast better, they should do something for all of the customers. If you are at this hotel in early March, watch out for parking under the trees. I was not aware of this and I had my car coated with reddish stuff, like dead blooms. A car wash cleaned it off !!!! Enjoy each day !!

    « 90th. Birthday Party »

Great hotel ! Excellent Staff, Clean hotel with nice rooms, valet parking, nice pool area and hot tub. Were at a 90th. Birthday party for a family friend. Event was at the hotel and very well organized, food was very good and everything was just perfect. Try the breakfast omelets as they are custom made and very good. I would recommend this hotel for any type of function or just a nice place to get away for a few days.

« One of the best hotels ever »

We were thoroughly please with the hotel, it's service, everything! Great price, large room, wonderful breakfast! I wish it had been warmer because the pool area looked great too! If I ever needed to stay in Gainesville again, hands down it would be here! The only negative would be that I was unaware of the $100 deposit, not that big of a deal, it just took 5 days to go back in my account. Still a wonderful visit and we are still talking about how comfortable the bed was and wished we had looked to see what kind it was!

    « Great Stay »

Had a great stay and appreciate the shuttle service. Everybody was very accommodating. Thanks to Mike Williams for driving me each day to my appointments at Clear Passage. I also enjoyed the great people at the Den restaurant.

    4
    « Overall very good »

The experience did not start well. I was given the impression that a hotel shuttle was available 24 hours per day. I arrived late due to airline delay, when I called for the shuttle the young man told me that the shuttle driver had been sent home for the evening, I should get a taxi. This added about $40.00 to the trip. when i was being taken to the airport to leave the shuttle driver said he was on duty until after midnight Sunday night. NOT HAPPY to know that! The rest of the hotel experience was as good as can be asked for great facility and staff. Watch the shuttle service. If you get this young man hang up and call back for someone else.

    « Wonderful Hotel »

We stayed here one night on our way to south Florida. It is a great hotel with clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was very good in the morning with a lot of variety and was kept full and clean. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel so we had dinner here without having to drive which we appreciated. A great stay with a good staff. We would stay here again on our next trip to this area.

    5
« Great support and sales staff »

My thanks to Zack, Tonya, Kimberly, and Hannah at the Best Western Gateway Grand. They were able to accommodate many last minute requests during the hectic conference schedule. I highly recommend them for your mid-sized conference needs.

« Best service in Florida »

After great disappointments with Best Westerns in Miami and various places in Florida we stopped at this hotel very late at night. Wonderful professional reception staff. Welcoming. When told about our bad experience they decided to upgrade us and really made our stay very special. Thank you Forrest for a marvelous service. This was the best service and standards we encountered in Florida. Also thanks to Alexandra who was on duty that night.

    « Phenomenal »

Traveled with a very large group! From booking all of our rooms to the check in process to hotel restaurant accommodations the staff here was phenomenal! This was the second time we've stayed here for this type of trip & we will do so again!

« Wonderful, week long stay! »

This was my first time in Gainesville - I was there for a week for some medical issues. This hotel is not the fanciest hotel, but it is a great place to call home for a week. The staff is SO nice and professional. I almost gave it 4 stars because I had an a/c issue one night and didn't get a fan or anything - but they were so great and replaced the whole unit the next day so I didn't have to move rooms, which was terrific. Now for the restaurant. WOW!!!! The staff is excellent. They work SO well together and SO hard to make you feel cared for. They accommodate special requests with a "no problem" and a big smile. They all seem to genuinely care about each other and their guests. And the FOOD IS EXCELLENT! The freshest salads - consistently, and all of the cooking is just amazing. Fresh, fresh, and "real" cooking is going on there. I definitely recommend this lovely (not too fancy or too stuffy) hotel (though I love those, too!)

« David Showed Great Customer Service »

I just attended a formal function at the Best Western Gateway Grand and I just wanted to mention that the server David went above and beyond to get to know the guests he served tonight as well as others in the social function. That type of personalized customer service is just what this and other establishments needs in this depersonalized day and age so thank you. His service tonight was refreshing to see and it is servers like this that make guests want to return again and again.

    5
« Wonderful hotel, wonderful service »

I have been working out of this location for 2 weeks now and I am extremely impressed with the amenities and hospitality I have experienced! Especially Ms. Kathy Lezcano, she is always so welcoming and helpful, making sure everyone is taken care of! The food is also wonderful, not your typical hotel cuisine. I will be back for work and for pleasure, thank you Best Western!

« The BEST Best Western in America »

Stayed here last night and I absolutely LOVED IT...The rooms are very large and are very clean...The sports bar and grill attached to this hotel has GREAT food as well...The only issue I have with this hotel is the $100 deposit (hold) on your credit card...That is the ONLY reason I didn't give this hotel a 5 rating...

    4
« No Wake Up Call »

This hotel is unlike the average Best Western. The rooms are very large and a very clean. The hotel bar and restaurant offer Happy Hour7 days a week from 5-7 pm. The food was above average for bar food. The breakfast buffet offered an omelette station for an extra fee of $3.00. Coffee was available as early as 4 am. The hotel does provide a shuttle to the airport; a 24 hour advanced booking is required. As for the wake-up call, I never got it. It was by chance that I woke up 6 minutes before the shuttle was to leave for the airport. I notified the hotel customer service department and hotel manage and all I got was"gee, we are sorry". Not what i expected.

    5
« A very nice place for business, or for personal time. »

I stayed at this hotel for three nights last week for a seminar/class that I was teaching. This hotel is very nice! The first thing I noticed is that everyone is very friendly. Mike picked me up from the airport in the shuttle, it was an easy ride and Mike is the most friendly shuttle driver I have ever met. Then into the lobby! This hotel looks like something from another era, a beautiful building and grounds. They were still set up for the holidays when I arrived and all I could do for a few seconds was stare in wonder at how nice it looked inside. I had spoken with Alexandra earlier and she was at the front desk as helpful as ever when I checked in. I have to say that this hotel is run with the most friendly and competent staff, it does not seem like a Best Western at all, it feels like a family owned grand hotel. The room was big, it seems more like a suite than a basic room. The sitting area has a sofa (sofabed) and a desk, with the TV on the dresser able to be seen from both rooms at once. The king bed was nice. the only suggestion I have is to put mattress toppers on the beds for comfort, or increase the thread count on the sheets... The catering staff, Zach and Virgil went above and beyond, the room was set up perfectly each day. Our support staff, Kathy was the best server EVER! She made sure we were comfortable from 8:00 in the morning until we left at 5:00 PM. Zach and Virgil get extra credit for literally going through the dumpster to find some important parers that I had left behind. Overall, I had a very good experience here and would not hesitate to stay here again the next time I am in the area.

« Good place to stay »

I was here for two nights on business and chose this hotel because of its proximity to my job site. The hotel is 18 years old and has always been a Best Western. The hotel grounds were transitioning from the Christmas decorations and despite that, the place was pretty clean. My room (326) was pretty quiet. The bed was a little firm and really wanted firm pillows as that's what I'm used to sleeping with. Although the request was confirmed. I never got them. A desk attendant asked if I had received them and at the time I didn't check as I was on my way out. The breakfast was actually quite good with made to order omelets for $3.00. I was rather pleased with that. The hotel staff was congenial and courteous. I noticed some of them calling guests by name so I know that this place must have regulars. That's pretty good to know! There are places to eat within the area and they are short drives. If I need to to get back to Gainesville, I would choose this place again.

    5
    « An impressive hotel »

this huge hotel has a lot going for it. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms very clean, free wifi, nice breakfast included, and it is pet friendly with room outside to run my dogs freely. Overall a very good stay.

« not what we expected from a Best Western Premier »

expensive for accomodations. also very difficult to locate the turn into the hotel. charge for eggs - no bacon or sausage available. computer desk so high we had to use a pillow for the one chair in our king room. room was large enough to accomodate a sofa and coffee table but had none of these ammenities

« Putting the Grand in Gateway Grand »

I have been travelling since birth and of hundreds if not thousands of hotels, motels, etc. I have stayed in, this would rank in the top 10. Forest, Natalie and other staff members went beyond belief to answer questions, make me and other late arrivals comfortable and had amazing knowledge of the place. Restaurant/Bar would make all Gators proud, food and people were wonderful. Room went beyond expectations to as to amenities and comfot. Piano in main hall is nice touch. Didn't even have a chance to enjoy pool or workout room. Would be a great place for a convention and it's worth the stop on the way up or down from or to Florida locations!

    « accomodations »

Room was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated Lobby was decorated beautifully and festive for the holiday season. Breakfast area was very clean with comfortable seating. Breakfast food was very good with a great variety of food. Despite the omelet station not being available, the selections of other items was generous. Truly grand hotel.

« Take a Best Western, add some polish, get this hotel »

We chose this hotel primarily because of the pool and hot tub. The pool was too cold to enjoy during our stay which was a little disappointing but not shocking. When I went to use the hot tub in the morning, it was empty due to cleaning and maintenance being done. While eventually the hot tub was available, we had to wait for over an hour to use it. I will credit the staff for their excellent communication regarding the status and offering an estimate of when it would be available. All that said, this hotel, despite the Best Western Grand branding is little more than a polished version of any other BW property. It is truly beautiful on the outside and the inside looks stylish, but when you start looking at the details, everything comes off as cheap. The room and bathroom were clean, the bedding passable, and everything really just OK across the board for the most part. A few notable exceptions are that at check-in, one employee (who was clearly ill with a pretty nasty cough) was answering the phones and doing the check-ins, so everyone was waiting a long while to get their business done. On the flipside, the staff that I interacted with at the front desk in the morning was spectacular. And, somewhere in the middle, the staff that was working the breakfast area in the morning was so efficient that at the end of breakfast cleanup, they turned off anything and everything in the seating area, including the TVs, despite their being a handful of folks still eating. As a side note, the Gators Den Sports Grill is onsite at this hotel. We appreciated the service, food, and convenience there.

    « Perfect! »

One of the best stays I have had! The place is 18 years old, but looked brand new! Loved the room, rates, bar, breakfast! Very, very nice place. We paid less for this room, and it was the nicest! All workers were helpful, and very nice.

    « Great staff! »

We stayed here for two weeks on a medical trip to Clear Passage. This hotel is clean, has a beautiful pool area, friendly staff, and free breakfast with lots of options! Loved staying here. Staff was amazing, especially the shuttle drivers, Mike and Brian, who made sure we were on time every day to our appointments.

    « Beautiful decor »

Wonderful location and friendly staff. I stayed recently so the holiday decor was wonderful as I drove in and entered the lobby. The room had all the amenities and was comfortable. The room is a bit dated but for the location, quality staff service and amenities that could be overlooked.

    « Clean and Comfortable »

Very clean with comfortable bed. Very quite so I got great sleep. Was very appreciative of the wake up calls so I could be on time to my meetings. Staff were friendly and helpful. Always like having a hot tub where I stay so I can relax my back and legs. The Gator Den restaurant next to the hotel was great. Very appreciative of the coupons for the evening meals.

« Great place to stay in Gainesville, Florida »

This was the best place to have our event. The hotel is just of the I75 and within 10 miles of any shopping needs. The staff are very nice and accommodating. The rooms are beautifully decorated and large. We're planning our next event here.

« Warm and welcoming hotel personnel! »

The hotel accommodations, location and staff were very good. Somewhat of a nostalgic feel; however extremely warm and welcoming. Elected to dine in the restaurant on site of the hotel; which had an extensive menu selection and reasonably priced.

« your crazy if you don't stay here!! »

If you look at their website you'll understand. I believed they had to be a plus or better. I found out that because they only have one elevator and 3 floors Best Western rates them as a Best Western PERIOD!! That is unfortunate because they are exceptional. Close to I 75, Sports Bar & Grill, Delux Continental Breakfast, Massage studio as I said check out their website you'll be pleased. Outside landscaping is phenomenal. All Best Westerns should copy this one!!!!

    « A nice stopover hotel »

We travel to Georgia occasionally to visit family, and the location of this hotel is good for breaking the trip up, and allows for convenient and reasonably priced dinner opportunities. We haven't eaten at the hotel, but we discovered Pomodoro, a popular local Italian restaurant several years ago. It is in the shopping center that is just minutes from the hotel. The hotel has always been reliably clean and well maintained, with pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast is quite good, with lots of choices.

    « Hidden Wonder »

This hotel is a complete resort and conference center with a large, beautiful pool/patio area, a great business center, and a fun restaurant called "Gator Den". The rooms are nicely furnished and clean, the halls are wide and well lit, and the staff are friendly and efficient. And the price is right. Great value This is my go to hotel whenever I am in Gainesville. You will have to search a little to find them, since the hotel is located in a quiet, out of the way area and yet within less than a half mile from the I-75 exit.

    « No housekeeping »

This is the Second year in a row staying at this hotel. Both years we've had the same problem. We leave in the morning in our room never gets cleaned. We came home this year after being gone all day and all the towels were still on the floor for in the morning we had to wait for the front desk staff to bring fresh towels that we could use for the morning. The breakfast seems pretty good the front desk staff was amazing and locations great super close to 75. I guess it was fine for two night stay.

    5
« great hotel, great gainesville location »

the staff is extremely friendly, the grounds are lovely, and the hotel is well-kept up. the complimentary breakfast is one of the best of seen, and includes bacon and eggs as well as other assorted hot and cold items. easy access to events anywhere in gainesville, and, once here, it is a bit easier to get to campus from this location than if coming from the interstate south of gainesville.

    5
    « great place »

we had a great time here. Only one night but the people were very nice and friendly. Tabitha was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was awesome and very good.I would recommend this place to anyone who is traveling.

« Good stay at Thanksgiving. »

Good rooms and fair rate. Lobby decor was great for holidays. Did not know they had a Thanksgiving buffet until we arrived (2 days ahead). They should advertize the buffet on their website. Was sold out. We did not need but front desk staff said they could probably squeeze us in. Would have been nice to know this option ahead of time.

« Some usable space compromised by having sofa »

The bathroom and vanity were small due to the space used by the sofa so there was very little space for any items on the vanity. so we had to place them on the table across the way. Tv was a little small and was on a swivel so it could be seen form sofa and bed

    5
    « Like this hotel »

We like this hotel and stay there when possible. I like that there is a restaurant attached and don't have to go look for one after driving all day. The breakfast is also very good - with fresh made omelets!

    5
« Great location and breakfast »

What a delightful surprise to find bacon and eggs this morning in the buffet. I found out from the staff that this is a new addition to your breakfast. PLEASE keep it. We had stayed in other hotels close to Archer Road with a full hot breakfast as well, but we so much enjoyed not being on Archer Road!!!

    « Needs some improvements »

Location is great. It is easy to get to the mall, University, or restaurants. The staff is fine, The building and equipment are getting old and needs some attention. If I compare it to experiences at other hotels, I am not impressed.

    4
    « Nice stay »

Had checked in , the staff was pleasant, courteous and professional. The room was not cleaned thoroughly with the filters being very dirty. Hairs on the wall and floor in the shower grossed us out. Reported to front desk and they accommodate us by taking 50%off the room rate.

    5
    « Beautiful, clean hotel »

Stayed here one night while passing through to southern Florida. This is a beautiful, clean hotel that allows pets, which we needed. We had a good nights sleep and complimentary breakfast variety was great. They even offer made to order omelets for $3, which was very tasty. Great location for road trip traveler. Would definitely stay again!

    « Change your sheets »

Outside hotel appearance look nice. Room is dated need remodeling especially the bathroom. Toilet is nasty around the base. Old sheets and old towels. We asked for new set but new set is old too. The housekeeping just handed us replacement sheet set and left. We had to change it ourselves. The sheets was so old, I would not let my dog sleep in it. Shame on manager, change the sheets!!!

    « Very Nice Hotel »

Husband and I stayed here one night on the way down to Florida. Convenient location right off of I-75. Very clean and bright hotel. All staff we encountered were very nice. Although we didn't use the poo,l the pool area looked very nice. Splurged and stayed in one of the Spa Suites. Great value for the money and a nice treat. Only thing is that there wasn't much else around.

    5
    « Fantastic! »

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay/ There were two wedding rehearsal dinners and another big meeting while we were there. We didn't hear anything! It was very quiet and peaceful. The pool area was easy to get to, and looked very inviting. The breakfast had an excellent variety.

    « Not a typical Best Western »

The Gateway Grand is aptly named - especially when comparing it to other Best Westerns. The entry is nicely landscaped, with a tall portico in front and beautiful Spanish architecture. The lobby is big and open, which was nice, because there was quite a line when we checked in. As Best Western Rewards members, we got to pick out a snack or drink from a basket at the front desk, and also received a coupon for a free appetizer. We had a room on the third floor, which was quite a walk from the lobby! The place is bigger than it looks. The room is large and well equipped with a wet bar, micro, fridge, sofa, etc. We were on a quiet side of the building, and I think that's the first time I can remember not using a white noise app to help us sleep. The comfortable, firm bed helped too. On-site restaurant is accessed from the outside of the building, and had a good, varied menu. We chose mozzarella sticks for our free appetizer, and our server mentioned it would be a half order. They were very good. The restaurant seems to do a good business, and we understand why because they had good food and prices. Housekeeping forgot to give us shampoo/conditioner/bathmat, so we stopped by the front desk for them. The bathroom sink is in the main part of the room and the toilet/shower/tub are behind a door, which is nice. Nice bath products, nice towels. The only thing that needed improvement was the vanity area. Not big enough to spread out our toiletry containers. Why they didn't install vanities that went wall-to-wall is hard to figure. Breakfast had a lot of choices, but not much in the way of whole grains (whole wheat bagels would be appreciated!). For $3, you could have an omelet made to order. Wish they did not use disposable cutlery and plates, because I didn't see any recycling going on. The outdoor pool/hot tub area is really nice! Wish it was warmer and we had the time to enjoy it. We'd definitely stay here again!

    « Night in Gainesville »

My wife and I booked this hotel t attend a wedding at the Santa Fe river ranch. This rooms are spacious and nice. We had a wet bar with mini fridge and micro wave. The king size bed was very comfortable and pillows nice and soft. The only negative was the ac unit ran loud. The have a nice sports bar attached to the hotel that we had lunch in. Breakfast and coffee the next dat were an added feature. All in all a very nice one night stay.

    « Gainesville best western »

The hotel was very clean and quiet, check in was quick Restaurant was very good. They have happy hour 2 for 1 wells. We also received a coupon when we checked in for a free appetizer. The breakfast was above average. The breakfast bar had a lot of extras

« My favorite place to stay »

We have stayed here eight times in the last ten years and have never been disappointed. The rooms and staff are fabulous. It is always a real pleasure to stay here. The breakfast bar is the best. Looking forward to staying again next year.

« Wonderful Getaway- Fantastic Night Manager »

This is such an awesome, comfortable hotel but honestly the thing that stands out to me was the hospitality and kindness of the night manager, Bob. We got in late and Bob was so helpful and accommodating. He made us feel comfortable and did everything he could to insure that we were satisfied with our stay. It was such a pleasure interacting with him.

    « Special birthday!! »

Many kudos to this hotel staff. I booked a surprise 25 th birthday trip for my older son to see his younger brother at UF. I told the staff that he was celebrating his 25th birthday. When he arrived he there was a bag of goodies for him and a note on the wall that said happy birthday special guest of the day. The staff went above and beyond and I really appreciate that. They told me that the hotel was first class all the way. Thank you so much !!!

« Felt grand, yet had a hometown feel too! »

Nice hotel, grand entrance, big open space. The conference rooms also looked nice. Room was large with a sofa and desk in the king bed room. Third floor was quiet, longer walk to the room but not bad. The front desk was very accommodating, breakfast was yummy with a good selection and attentive personnel. Gators next door( so nice to have a place to eat right there) also had a good bar, service was excellent as was the food! It will be my go to whenever in the Gainesville area.

    5
    « Very nice. »

Quick check in. Very nice staff. Room nice and fresh smelling. Free breakfast and the area was large. Food was good with option to pay for special order of eggs, etc. didn't do so notnsire of all the choices. Sports bar type restaurant on the property and extremely nice staff. Food was good.

    « Disaappointing experience »

Again, the credibility of the hotel and organization as being in the service of the client is very poor. There was no respect about the agreement of the rate negotiated through Expedia and the final overblown rate I had to pay, all due to demand for Gators game. This was done in spite of the fact that I clarified 5 days before arrival that I was not going to stay the original 2 nights, and I was assured that I would only pay the average of the 2 original nights. Still, I was charged the full, overrated rate for a 3 star hotel, that has the quality of a passing by motel with a noisy air conditioning unit below the window.

« The best place to stay in the Gainesville area. »

Gateway Grand is truly a grand place to stay. It is architecturally pleasant to the eye, the rooms are clean and furnished beautifully and the hosts are helpful and courteous. The restaurant and convention facilities make it an excellent location for business gatherings, weddings or family reunions. The University of Florida is just minutes away as well as the Santa Fe River which offers canoeing and kayaking through some of the most beautiful wilderness in Florida.

    4
    « Very nice! »

The Best Western Gateway Grand is very nice and conveniently located just off I-75. Our room was a king room, very spacious. Large reception area. Breakfast offered the standard items: toast, cereal, coffee, juice, oatmeal, waffles, but also to order omelets and scrambled eggs.

    5
    « Good Night's Sleep »

My husband had out patient surgery in Gainesville. It was necessary to spend a couple of nights away from home. We had a great room at the Best Western. Found a little problem with drainage in the bathroom sink and staff was right on it to get it fixed. Also needed some extra towels and a blanket, no problem ... Staff members seemed to get along well with one another and were accommodating to the needs we had. We have stayed there in the past and we're glad we returned for another two nights stay.

« Best Place to Stay in Gainesville! »

My company has put me up here on business going on two months now while I relocate to the area. Rooms are very spacious, in three quasi-sections with a mini-kitchen, pull out couch/desk living room and main bedroom. Very comfortable. The staff is young, energetic and amazing! Jonathon, Tabitha and others at the front desk, very welcoming, remember my name, make me feel at home. The restaurant on-site, "Gator's Den" is also a great place to eat, even for a Seminole fan like me. Very lovely wait staff lead by the manager, Christie. Elizabeth, Sarah, Destiny, Katie, etc...all make it a great place to hang out and be friendly. A ahndful of regulars also frequent giving it a "Cheers-like" feel.Talk sports, Game of Thrones or anything else. And the food is MUCH better than typical bar fare. I have a restaurant background and was very impressed not only with the selection, but the quality of the food. Great wings, burgers, pasta dishes, award-winning Mac and Cheese, rib-eye and flank steak options and sandwiches. Happy hour every day 5-7pm and "late-night" happy hour during football games. I ate there every night for almost two months, was very happy. All-in-all, I VERY HIGHLY recommend staying here while driving through/staying in Gainesville and I will come back to visit the Gator Den often to visit the friends I've made there after I've moved to the area.

« Best Western Gateway Grand, Gainesville, FL »

My family, including our cat Dexter, evacuated Naples, FL, due to Hurricane Irma. We were heading to Atlanta. My wife booked a room at the Best Western Grand in Gainesville as our first stop. Normally Atlanta is only a 9 hour trip. Wisely she anticipated the heavy traffic going North. We left Naples at 9 AM and arrived at the hotel in Gainesville ten and a half hours later. This trip was normally a 4 hour ride. We were pleasantly surprised by the Best Western Grand. The staff at the front desk was warm and welcoming. The hotel was relatively new and not typical of a Best Western. It had a large lobby area. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We very much appreciated the restaurant on premises. After so many hours on the road we had no desire to drive to an eatery! Breakfast was above average. For a three dollar charge, you can have a custom omelet made for you. Well worth it. We loved this Best Western so much that we booked it on our return trip to Naples.

    3
    « Travel »

The staff was nice the grounds were beautiful. We did have to sign a waive to be in a quite area and the room above us made load noises at odd hours of the night. The beds were smaller then other hotels and gave less pillows and smaller pillows. But the staff was helpful if asked for anything.

« Great Hotel with Friendly Staff »

This hotel offers many compliments including the security of all inside rooms, very clean and comfortable rooms, easily accessible rooms, and a very friendly staff. There is room for improvement with their breakfast. While they do provide some breakfast items at no additional cost, there is a minimal charge ($3.00) for a prepared omelet for guests. It's a great omelet, however, hotel management should consider a larger hot breakfast similar to other hotels offering the breakfast to hotel guests at no additional costs. But it's a wonderful hotel competitively priced and you won't be disappointed with your stay.

    « great hotel! »

First of all I want to thank Forrest, Bob and John, they made my stay fun and comfortable. The location is just perfect, with all the trees and nature around it, thank you for your warm hospitality! Pavel Veksler.

    « GREAT HOTEL »

I only stayed one night because I evacuated from Hurricane IRMA but this hotel was much more than I anticipated. It was super clean and the check-in staff was very friendly and efficient. Also the restaurant next door, Gators, was supurb. Their food was freshly prepared and all the servers were friendly. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again!

    5
    « Escaping from Irma »

After not having the rooms we thought we did in the panhandle the best western came through for us. Forrest amazingly had 2 rooms for us. The presidential suite and additional room were a blessing for our family and dogs. The 2 nights we spent helped us out a lot. Elizabeth in the Gator Den made us feel like we were at a hurricane party. You are fortunate to have such dedicated employees who make stressful times so much easier. Thank you Best Western!

    5
    « Fantastic stay »

We stayed here for two nights after evacuating from our home during Hurricane Irma. We already had a reservation as we were to be in town for a UF football game. We booked months ago at football weekend prices. Upon checking in the desk agent informed me that it wouldn't be fair to charge me those rates and gave me a rate that was half what I'd booked at. I wasn't expecting it, and was happy to just have a place to stay, but I was so thankful for the generosity. The staff at this hotel is top notch. The staff was kind, generous and competent. The housekeeping was terrific, the breakfast delicious. The hotel was clean, the grounds beautiful. The hotel had a perfect pet area and was overall just fantastic. Thanks to all who took such good care of so many people with no other place to go this weekend. Every employee I encountered had a smile and I appreciated that so much.

    4
« Great stopover, excellent customer service »

As we escape the wrath of hurricane Irma, it was a pleasant surprise to find availability here at the last minute. The front desk staff, although swamped, were incredible and handling the situation wonderfully. Although a bit outdated, the room was clean, comfortable, and best of all pet friendly. The dinner food at their restaurant was delicious.

« Nice stay on the way to Disney »

Nice value on the way to Disney. Kids enjoyed the pool and room was comfy. Not here long enough to enjoy the other amenities, but the breakfast muffins were very good! We grabbed one on our way out of the door to Animal Kingdom.

« Another nice Best Western »

I stay at Best Westerns when I can . This was a very nice one. Our regular king room had a bedroom, couch area, coffee area with micro and refrig. , small but adequate separate dressing area and sink. and separate shower area. Nice outside pool and patio. Stayed here before. Great Christmas displays at Holiday time. .

    4
    « Excellent Customer Service »

The customer service at this establishment is excellent. The front desk staff was very accommodating. There was some confusion with my reservation and two separate credit cards were charged for my one stay (the one I used to reserve the room and the one I used to pay for the room). After a brief conversation on the phone with one of the staff members he pleasantly refunded one of the cards.

    5
    « Great »

Hotel was clean, rooms were huge and staff was friendly. A lot to choose from for breakfast. Pool was very clean. The restaurant was great. Pet friendly and a lot of parking. Would recommend staying at Best Western Gateway Grand.

    « Beautiful, but a rainy day »

The one negative thing that I am going to say about this place and it had nothing to do with them on this particular day, was that we couldn't use the beautiful resort style pool, due to the rainy weather. However, if it was not rainy and we wanted to use the pool, we still wouldn't have been able to, because they were pressure washing the deck, in between the rain drops. Other wise, definitely a place I would stay at again.

    3
    « Conference Trip »

Hotel was nice enough but housekeeping fell way short of expectations. We did not; however, report a problem except to request clean cups. We were out of the room everyday, all day and did not want to chance repercussions.

« Remarkable service, memorable place and experience. »

so, i had a motor accident in 2014 and a clinic named clear passage was in touch with me over the year to help me remove my adhesion which obstructed my intestines over a year , not allowing me to digest, forcing me on a strict liquid diet. so i took their advice and booked with best western due to its location and distance from the clinic, but i write this review a week before my treatments even started because the team, and specially Bob, Forrest, Thabitha and Joe, who were spectacular and made my stay outside of my home for the first time in 3 years since my accident, feel safe and at home. i don't know about the clinic and the treatments yet, but if i will get better i am surely going to stay here once more and travel all the great areas nearby (and there are many) once you get to know the staff here you feel like you are in a 5 star hotel nonetheless! Girlfriends Point of view - Double beds were a little small but they offered us a room with king size bed, since my therapist was with us we preferred to have 2 double beds instead of a king size and a sofa-bed , air conditioning was a little too cold to her taste.

« Very Nice Hotel in Gainesville »

This is a very nice hotel in Gainesville, Florida. We would highly recommend this place and would stay here again. The hotel is pretty, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

    « Good location »

Double beds were too small for two to share. The sheets, bed spread and the towels were very exhausted in use very poor looking. The carpets in rooms had a smell. Carpet needs to change. Wasn't vaccum well. Bathroom door was on the way and toilet was not clean well and smelled.

    3
    « Don't be filled by Grand. It's really just a BW »

I guess an effort by Best Western to go upscale. A bigger lobby and nicer pool area but still a 90s era mid priced hotel in rooms. Dated a/c, lowest quality "upscale" furniture, plastic cups and utensils. Even the "free" breakfast includes a charge if you want an omelette. The only plus might be a large guest room with sofa and separate sitting area.

    4
    « No Real Complaints »

I stay here often. The staff has always been pleasant and professional. I have eaten on premises in the restaurant and I have had the morning breakfast. There is not a great deal of variety, but the food is good and the staff are very friendly. The room accomodations suit my needs well and I have only had one issue with the a/c which the staff addressed and corrected right away.

    5
    « Gateway Grand »

The Gateway Grand Hotel offers a variety of room sizes and amenities. I have stayed in them all. From the basic double queen to the spacious Presidential Suite with Hot Tub Jacuzzi and King Size bed. Every room is in excellent condition and well cared for and clean. I enjoy the staff and have never had an issue that didn't get immediately resolved. The pool area is excellent and the convenience of on site restaurant and bar is terrific. I have had meetings in their conference rooms and they are also perfect for many different sizes of groups and clean and nice.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, very clean around the entire complex, hotel is conveniently located in a very nice area and a great bargain for the price. We travel a lot. This has got to be one of the best Best Western's we have ever stayed at and we have stayed at many dozens. « Awesome Hotel! »

We stayed at this hotel on July 16. It is an awesome hotel--the entrance is very grand and we had a very nice room. The bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner) were great too. We were traveling from Iowa to Fort Lauderdale, Fl to move our son and needed a hotel that would accommodate our son's pet, which this hotel did. We were also able to park the Penske truck with a trailer on one of the side parking areas. The hotel has a simply amazing breakfast plus the coffee was very good too! We've never seen such a selection. For $3.00 more you can get a made to order omelet. Although we didn't bring our swim suits, they have an amazing pool area that would have been great to use. The hotel staff was amazing as well. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

« Great Hotel and Great Value - We Loved the Pool »

I think we spent more time at the pool than in our room. This is a great hotel with a very friendly staff from the front desk to the housekeepers. We had a nice time in our clean and spacious hotel room. The hotel is located just a few minutes off I-75, and it is just a 19-minute drive to the University of Florida.

My stay for business was a pleasure. Great spacious room and wonderful staff. Breakfast was varied and good. I enjoyed my stay and would visit here again. I found the hotel to be located near food and gas. It was easy to access from the Interstate. The room was very large consisting of a bedroom, sitting area and bath/shower area. Very nice decor and plenty of storage.

    « Alachua Best Western »

A nice establishment. Perfect if you have a reason to be in the area, convenient to Gainesville, not far from the springs in the area, would be a good base to explore the area. Clean, nice accommodations, the staff was very friendly. Must have the $3.00 omelet - a real bargain!

« Clean, comfortable hotel in a good location »

From check in to check out my stay was pleasant. I was with other family members for my grandson's wedding so I was not in the room too much. Our family occupied 7 or 8 rooms and I heard no complaints from anyone. The breakfast was plentiful and included boiled eggs which I like so I can eat protein for breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful.

    « Best Western - »

We recently stayed at Best Western while attending a softball tournament. The hotel is clean and the staff is excellent. We will definitely stay there again next year. While it was located 30-40 minutes away from the actual field, tt was well worth the drive for us to be in a comfortable, clean and safe hotel.

    « Beautiful hotel !! »

We stayed here for one night, and the hotel is so updated the staff was friendly. My room was so clean, my only complaint is they need queen size beds instead of doubles. Would stay here again in the future, and i like how its at the end of a road so not noisy at all

« Easy Inn, Easy Out! »

This hotel checked off all my boxes! Clean, maintained well, friendly staff, nice rooms with comfortable bedding and to top it off, it's within a half mile from the Interstate! All this for a very good price! Well worth the stop!

    « Beautiful Hotel »

My family loved staying in this hotel during my daughter's State Softball Tournament that was in Lake City. So glad we made this choice. Rooms were clean, lobby beautiful, pool area is nice. Felt like a true vacation even though we weren't that far from home. Very affordable

« Great place to stay in Gainesville area »

Pretty venue, far enough away from the hustle and bustle Of the university city to make you feel comfortable. Very accommodating staff. Rooms are quiet and clean, which is surprising for a university city. Great choice!

    « Great Service!!! »

Front desk service was excellent!! Best I've seen in a while compared to other hotels. Forrest at the front desk was amazing!! He went above and beyond. Breakfast was nice and lots of options. Double beds are small - wish they were queen size. Room decor needs updating. Otherwise, pool area was nice and service was exceptional.

    « Hidden Gem »

This hotel is off the beaten path in Gainesville but it is worth it to find it. Large resort style hotel with beautiful pool and patio area. My room was spacious and the WI-FI worked better than most. I was there on a business trip and it is conveniently located close to I-75 but without the noise. Good value. My favorite place to stay in Gainesville. I have been here 3 times and have not been disappointed.

    « Clean and friendly. »

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We currently live in another part of Florida and stayed at this hotel for a weekend trip. The hotel' surrounding terrain, much like the rest of Gainesville is lush, green, and hilly. it feels very unlike Florida, which is nice for the Floridian who want to feel like they are somewhere else without having to drive too far. The hotel staff was very friendly from check in to check out. I have stayed at Best Westerns many times and find that they are reliable for clean rooms and friendly staff. The only complaints that I have about this hotel are that there is no safe in the room, the pool is kind of small and feels very bleachy, and the breakfast options were limited. I usually use the hotel safe to put my valuables in when I use the pool. I did not find one in my room, not sure if this is the case in all rooms or if it is available upon request. The pool area is very beautiful with lots of tropical plants and some covered tables as well as plenty of sun chairs, even some gazebo seating. However, I found the pool to be pretty small and felt over crowded with only a handful of people in it. I have no complaints about the hot tub. The breakfast was included with the stay, so I can't complain too much, but the options did leave me disappointed. The only free hot options were oatmeal, or the waffle station. There is an omelet station for $3. There were cold hard boiled eggs available, no meat options. and breads and yogurts available and the fresh fruits were apples and oranges. The options were the same each day. Based on cleanliness and affordability I would stay here again.

    « Bed Bugs »

This was my 4th time staying at Gateway Grand, but it was the last. On my first night, I experienced bed bugs in my room and told the hotel staff while I was leaving for work. Upon my return, they had another room prepared for me, and a pack of coins so that I would take all my clothes to the dryer (apparently, to heat dry the clothes would kill any bed bug that might be on them). And that's it. Nobody even cared to ask if I needed help to do this or to send my clothes to a laundry. I am extremely allergic, and the rest of my week was terrible. I bought the topic medicine to relieve the pain of the bites, and I always travel with my antihistamine, but nobody from the hotel staff called me to ask if I needed any of those. I understand bed bug is a risk at any hotel, other guests can bring them, it's not something easy to control. But the staff did not care even to ask how I was or even to apologize for the inconvenience.

What a beautiful resort setting, absolutely Clean and very comfortable! The staff were very friendly with big smiles and welcoming ,each employee had the pride of ownership and the concern that everything was just perfect . I thought the place looked like it was brand new ,but found out it was 18 years old ! It smells ,feels and looks like home !

    « No Complaints. »

Friendly Staff. Clean Rooms. I do hate surveys and this one was all fine until it request me to waste more of my time to use up 200 words to describe something that I felt that I had already done a good job explaining with my original 29 characters. That is a little ridiculous to say the least. Hopefully I've got enough words here to be able to go about my day now. Let's see.

    « Very nice »

Very convenient to the highway, and a real plus that there was a restaurant/bar at this hotel. Other facilities such as a gas station and food store and drug store within a few blocks of the hotel. I would gladly stay there again!

« Great Staff Of Gainesville »

The front desk men Tyler and Forrest were super kind and helpful for our stay. They gave us tips on great places to eat and for other nightlife activities around Gainesville. The hotel was wonderful and very peaceful! Would stay again!

    « Good place--good staff »

Nice hotel close to I-75, but quiet and far from the congestion of Archer Rd. Clean rooms. Good breakfast. Pleasant lobby and pool areas. Professional, friendly staff who are so welcoming. We have stayed here several times when coming to Gainesville and have not been disappointed.

    3
« A Good Value, But Not Great. »

Do a better job cleaning the rooms. I will stay here again, but not in room 314. Check-in was okay and I did get to the room quickly. Although I do not recommend the lounge due to drunk, loud patrons, I do not know where else to go if you plan on having a cocktail. Wahoo is overpriced and not a good value. I did sleep well, though!. Check-out was a breeze and Tabitha was great! Give her a raise!

    « Away game »

Florida was playing away in Lexington but still most of the hotels were full. I found a room here even though it was in the evening. The hotel is close to several restaurants and bars. Staff was friendly and gives military discounts.

    « Love This Place »

We stayed four nights and loved every minute. From the Gator Den Sports Grill to the pool to the guest laundry, we were pleased. The good was great and they offered $3 omelette in addition to the complimentary breakfast. The staff was helpful and friendly. We were close to lots of food and fun things to do, like the Florida Museum. We will definitely go back!

    « Will return »

Stayed here one night on the way north. No real complaints. Lovely reception area. Easy parking. Location is right off I75 with a Publix and other restaurants 5 minutes away. We did not use the on-site restaurant but heard it is very good. Room was smallish but updated and very clean. Microwave and fridge are always a plus to us. Good free wifi. Pool area very nice. Large, plenty of chairs and towels, a jacuzzi and soothing music. Nice atmosphere. Our only little niggle was that the ice machine was at the far end of the hotel for us. Quite a walk. To their credit, I asked a housekeeper I happend to pass where the ice machine was located and she smilingly offered to go get it for me. The service here was excellent. Reccommend this hotel.

The hotel was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was one of the best I have had at a hotel. Very convenient having Bar/Restaurant on the property. The hotel was at a good location. Close to many other restaurants. Approximately about a half hour from the Gainesville Airport.

Had a wonderful comfortable stay. Big thanks to Mike the van driver, flight landed late and his patience was great and excellent conversation on the ride to the hotel. « Cat Friendly in Gainesville »

We ended up staying in Gainesville for a night while on the way to Washington State in early May. I had my cat with me and the hotel was one of a few options that was cat friendly in the Gainesville area. The property does charge a small pet fee for any animals. We arrived before the check-in time and were able to get a room right away. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful with any questions. The room we were in was right next to the pool area but we found the location to be quiet, even when a large event was going on nearby. We did not use the pool area though it did look really nice. The room was clean and well kept. The shower did take a little time to warm up but had great water pressure. The hotel did provide a continental breakfast of muffins and bagels, which worked great when driving out early. There was a small charge of $3 for an omelet.

    3
    « Too Pricey »

At the cost of room we expected a full buffet breakfast but was little more than continental. If you wanted eggs, an omlette was additional $3. Next time in Gainesville we'll stay at a less expensive hotel where the "free breakfast" will match or exceed the one offered here.

    5
    « Very Positive »

One of my all-time favorite hotel stays from the friendly, helpful staff to the note on the bed to cookies to good restaurant. They had a great included breakfast, suites, all included. Price very reasonable.

    « Relaxing pool area. »

The kids can play in the pool, the adults in the hot tub and the book worms have a nice garden view. Fresh baked cookies. Coffee, hot cocoa and tea. Pet friendly. Breakfast included. Room service. Across from Harley Davidson.

    « Attended Graduation »

Graduation for my son but this hotel is not worth the money. Terrible location no hot water beds were terrible. The gym has broken machines or some that do not function correctly. TV on gym broken as well.

    5
« Nice hotel, wonderful staff »

A very nice hotel property, very clean and welcoming. But the staff is the point of distinction. Forrest, Jonathon and Cindy made this a perfect stay with their engagement and attentiveness to our needs. Clean rooms, comfy beds. Complementary breakfast, but a $3 upcharge for omelets. A full service lounge is attached to hotel for dinner (and lunch, I believe).

    « Enjoyed »

Stayed for an archery tournament. First person I met from the hotel was Mike Mc who picked me up at the airport. What a great guy! He communicated with me as soon as I landed. Everyone at the hotel greeting me with a smile. Room was clean. I ate at the sports bar on property, the food was great and service was prompt, with a smile. Will definitely stay there again

    « Must stay here »

Stopped by chance here on our way further south. Could have spent our entire vacation here. Fantastic atmosphere, grounds, facilities and small bar that oozed with fun. So nice to see how respected the dog guests were treated by the staff too. The facilities and grounds were as beautiful as places we stayed in Hawaii. Referred several people to this Best Western. Certainly will be back. The room rate was average too. One of the best places we have ever stayed and we are experienced travellers.

    « Nice hotel! »

The hotel is very nice! It is fairly new. Rooms are nicely equipped. Stayed in a room with two beds. The air conditioning unit worked well as compared to other hotels I have stayed in recently. The hotel is impressive. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful. My room did have some cleanliness issues. First morning, there were many long black hairs on the shower wall. Took them to the desk clerk. After work the next day, the bath area trash can had been moved and there were hairs where it had been. Didn't like the idea of paying $3.00 to have a breakfast omelet made. Didn't see anyone else ordering one. Would I stay here again, I would most likely give them another try. The hotel is very nice.

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

A nice, clean, recently built facility that is very near I-75. Despite the building being close to I-75 no road noise was heard inside our room. The free breakfast offered the usual hot and cold items in addition to hot oatmeal and flavored creamers for coffee.

    « Unexpected surprise »

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, some of the best I've seen. I thought Best Western had gone to the economy class of hotels. But this one is at the upper end of the middle class hotels. Although it appears to be an older property, it is well maintained. Again, one of the best I've seen. I didn't have occasion to visit the restaurant/bar, but the complimentary breakfast had a little surprise. You could get made-to-order omelettes/scrambled eggs for a $3 charge. I didn't think this excessive and gladly made use of it. It's in a good location and I'd gladly recommend this property.

    « Excellent Welcome Crew!!!! »

Thinking we could drive 14 hours straight with a 4 year old and 10 month old was probably our most hairbrained idea yet! Instead we were left with two very unhappy kiddos at 4a.m.! And if that wasn't bad enough, there wasn't a vacant room for miles!! When we pulled up on this hidden jewel I really thought we would be turned away again! Well I was wrong! Instead we were greeted by the happiest person I've ever seen at 4 in the morning! Mike, Ashley, & Renae ... thank you SO SO SO much for welcoming us so happily! It's wonderful to see such amazing people! We would definitely stay here again hands down!!

« The best place to stay in Gainesville »

Over the past 4 years, while our son has been attending UF, we have stayed at many different hotels in the Gainesville area. Because of the outstanding quality of the employees at the Best Western Gateway Grand and the overall wonderful hotel, we know that this is the best place to stay in Gainesville and for us it is the only place we stay at when we travel there.

    « Just like home »

Stay here whenever we have to visit Shands hospital. The staff is extremely friendly and they have a great breakfast. If you are a patient be sure to ask for the Shands discount. « Gators Experience »

From the great airport shuttle service with Mike McWilliams to the cordial, friendly front desk experience with Forrest, my stay at the Best Western Gateway Grand was truly a grand experience. The hotel, the rooms, and all the common areas are well maintained. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend the Gateway Grand!

« Rooms need a lot of work »

Visited this hotel on business April 2017 Pros: -All staff were very nice and accommodating -Water and cookies available at check in -Very delicious breakfast with a variety of options -Great conference rooms - Pool area looked nice Cons: -Rooms seem old and very outdated - A/C is motion activated and only works when motion is detected...so every time you come back to your room it's hot and musty. In addition to that, if you don't move in your sleep, the room gets hot. -The cleaning staff does the bare minimum. There was tons of dust on the curtains and hanging from the ceiling. For a person with allergies this was a big let down. - BATHROOM, shower, sink area was incredibly tiny. Overall what is important to me is a clean room, with a well working air conditioner, and a decent size bathroom area. Therefore I will not stay here again.

    « Excellent Customer Service »

I recently had the pleasure to spend some time at this establishment. Everything about the hotel was very accommodating. In my haste to depart,I left a very valuable item behind. I didn't realize that I had left the item until 4hrs later. Upon immediately contacting the hotel, I received a call from the General manager Ron Gromoll, who had already left for the day. He relayed the info to his manager Natalie Edwards, and through their diligence they were able to retrieve my belongings. The customer service afforded to me by Mr. Gromoll and Ms. Edwards was very refreshing! Kudos to the staff at the Best Western Gateway Grand and their attention to detail!

    « Never Again »

I have stayed a few times and I try to give a hotel a chance especially if it has potential but I just cannot and will not use this hotel. I have asked every time for a pet free area and was giving a pet room each time. They put me in the middle of the pet floor once, and another time they put a dog beside me in a non pet area. When I confronted the front desk guy, Jeremy, I think was his name, he told me, I was misinformed. They do not have just pet areas, that pets are allowed anyone on the property. He was always rude - snobby to me. Everyone else was super nice and sweet. They charge a $100 - $150 fee for your stay, in a deposit and make you sign a form stating they can charge your card up to $1,500!! if you are complained on about noise in your room... Who does that???? I'm not a teenager or party looking person.. I was there on business!!! The hotel smells unless you get an ion clean room and they always leave hair on the toilet, tub, towels, and sometimes the floor and bed. I know they can't help it but it just grosses me out. The coffee tasted old the last time I was there. The manager takes forever to get back with you if you ask them something. They seem nice but they make you wait and then you may not get what you need. I have had issues with tubs and temperature. I do like the beds, they are comfy. the rooms are spacious. The hotel is only close to a gas station with a DQ so no traffic really.. and right on the interstate. There is a little restaurant on the property. Nice people and cool bar atmosphere. Food is ok. They always burned my nachos so remember that... The night staff Bo and the young girl who comes in early to clean is always super sweet... They could work anywhere. I just cannot give the thumbs up to stay. They really don't care about their guest, even ones with severe health allergies. and they gouge prices when events are in town.

Very comfortable. Very Clean. Very reasonable. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is very, very good (all the usual plus: Krispy Kreme, waffles and, for just three dollars, a great omelette, made to order). Sitting out on the very roomy pool deck, you feel like you are out in a park (no clue that you are 100 yards from I-75).

    « Don't bother »

smelly rooms, sometimes issues with pets barking and tubs not working, slow check-in, poor customer service and not a great breakfast. horrible deposit fees and a form to charge you if you are loud, up to $1500. which is crazy! Front desk guy lied to me and ignored me.

    « Good Value »

I was very impressed by the room, which was broken up into various sections such as a separated bathroom and sink, the wet bar and "living room" and bed room. Door was squeaky, and décor somewhat dated, but overall very good experience.

    « Dinner event »

My work hosts a quarterly lecture and dinner event at the hotel for area doctors. We are always impressed with the cleanliness of the room, attentiveness of the staff and the quality of the food. The staff is extremely helpful, they even help me set up and breakdown my presentation. We host similar dinners all over the state, and this venue is one of my favorites since I am assured that my guests will like it. Even better that it's reasonably priced. Our serving team, Virgil, Jessie, Elaine & Manny are amazing and always so helpful!

This is one of the better hotels we ever stayed in. Safe, clean, very friendly staff, including the maids, and easy access on and off the highway. The beds in this place were awesome! We were traveling to receive medical treatment in Gainesville. We choose the Best Western at the advice of the treatment program. They have a long standing relationship with the Best Western and I can understand why. EVERY staff member was friendly, accommodating and kind. The van service they provided was excellent. The drivers were friendly, personable very patient with the various schedule changes and delays that occurred. I know my husband made a new friend in (van driver) Brian and will definitely keep in touch. Breakfast was included and generous beyond the usual including waffles, omlettes, yogurt, hot and cold cereal, etc. The hotel was also family and pet friendly.

We had a king deluxe with a great view of the pool area. It was a very comfortable room with a separate sitting area, it was also very quiet. The complimentary continental breakfast was good, you could get a egg omelet or scrambled eggs for a $3 up charge. We stayed there for 6 nights. « very nice place, a couple flaws need fixing »

Excellent and quiet room, very very nice property and layout, with beautiful grounds (and hey, if you're a Harley fan, there's a Harley store right across the street). It's sad that such a pretty place with such pretty rooms has such a drab interior. The hallways and the doors are dark and the doors a dreary darkish brown; makes you feel you're in a old drab place when you're in fact not. The breakfast employees are not very motivated, the selection is yucky, and the coffee is absolutely horrible; never tasted worse coffee, the beans burnt to a crisp (no matter how many creams you add, it doesn't get better). There is a very nice restaurant here where I ate dinner, and very nice pool area.

    « Wonderfully cozy hotel »

I traveled as a single person for treatment at Shands. Wonderful place to be away from home. It's safe, secure, clean, comfortable, the rooms are large, the beds very comfortable, and I'm so happy with them! I plan to stay there again.

« luncheon in conference center »

held a luncheon for a non profit group in the conference center. The restaurant catered for 50 people. Everything was wonderful, the room was clean and professional, the lunch was delicious! The servers, Kathy and Emily were fantastic and very professional. I highly recommend this hotel for your next event!

    « Wonderful! »

This hotel is a little far out from the city and all of the fun things, but if you're away on business and you want a clean, quiet place to stay, this is it! I had a very nice stay, and I loved the restaurant that is adjacent to the hotel. The weather was perfect in November and I spent my evening reading by the pool, which was very relaxing. They also have spa services, but I didn't have time to try those out. Overall, wonderful!

    « Not very clean »

We stayed 2 nights. The staff was friendly and the hotel was quiet. However, when we arrived the garbage from the previous guest was still in the room. The carpet didn't look very clean and it was stained near the bed. It was very unsightly. The cleaning staff could use training. It is very important to us that hotels are clean.

    « Great service! »

We loved our stay! Loved the room amenities, comfortable bed and friendly staff. Hotel is clean and has a nice size outdoor pool. It has a sports bar so no need to drive anywhere. Highly recommended hotel!

« Convenient hotel with nice, spacious rooms »

Have stayed at the Best Western Grand twice on business and it is a great hotel for either business or leisure visits. Rooms are large and clean with a number of amenities including refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom is great with excellent hot water and shower pressure. Separate living room and office area in the king size room made it very comfortable for me to work and I easily got 8 hours of sleep in the comfortable bed. The free continental breakfast has more than just fruit and toast and the bar/restaurant next door is very convenient for nights when you don't feel like wandering far. My shuttle driver Mike was courteous and very prompt to pick me up upon arrival at the airport. All in all a wonderful stay at an affordable price.

    « Pleasant Stop »

I drove 650 miles that day. TripAdvisor was great for finding this hotel. It was very clean and well staffed. My room had an excellent bed, which Is what I mainly wanted. Typical breakfast buffet, which was typical. Good price. I'd stay here again.

Clean excelent food and Service My stay with them is always exceptional. We stay here almost monthly and never have been unsatisifed with our stays But may I suggest more electrical outlets in the ADA rooms

    « Excellent Service - Great People »

I came to Gainesville for the first time and chose to stay at the BW per a recommendation I received. Boy were they right! I was helped by Brian at the front desk who welcomed me warmly and assisted me with questions on where I could find certain things in the city. He also arranged my shuttle service with Mike M who was a really sweet man and a total gentleman. Would recommend a stay here to anyone in the area.

« Helpful for family of hospital patients »

I had a difficult situation made much better by staying at this hotel while my husband was in Shands Hospital. The complimentary breakfast was the cleanest, most plentiful, best tasting I have experienced in a hotel. The shuttle service to and from visiting sessions were handled by friendly, prompt, and accommodating persons. The staff all went out of their way to make every effort to fulfill the needs of those staying in the hotel.

    5
    « Excellent customer service »

Front Desk service representative, Forrest, could not have been more accommodating. We weren't pleased with the location of our room which was next to an exit door. Though the hotel was very busy, he found us a quiet suite overlooking the pool. It made all the difference and we had a very enjoyable stay thanks to his efforts.

    5
« Beautiful place to spend the night. »

Very nice property just off I-75. A little difficult to find in the dark would be my only negative thing to say. The front desk staff told us the poor lighting was due to a city ordinance. Room was very nice and price less than $100 per night. Breakfast was delicious in comfortable setting.

« Great space for family of 5 »

This was a graduation trip and with the outrageous prices of so many other locations this was a great value with breakfast included. The service as good the room was large and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the pool and catching lizards.

    « Acceptable hotel »

The Lobby and breakfast area are beautiful. The room could have been a little cleaner. They missed taking out the previous tenants trash. The bed was a tad soft for my taste but for the price it was a good value.

I was seeking shelter away from Hurricane Matthew which hit my home area. I was very happy to be able to stay at this Best Western in Gainesville. I had two kitties and am disabled. They made me feel welcome, comfortable, and valued.

    « I love your Hotel »

Outstanding staff, clean rooms, pet friendly, pets are happy. I really enjoyed everything about this hotel.. the internent had amazing instructions how to find it once you get to gainsville, there is some shopping near by, and gas station at the front of the street. For the business traveler or any traveler with a pet or without a pet it is really great.

    4
« very clean and friendly staff »

I stayed here with a large group. The property is well maintained and clean throughout. Room was nice, comfortable bed, the bathroom was a little dated though. Breakfast was better than average hotel fare, and coffee was excellent. Staff was extremely helpful and understanding of the needs of our group and went above and beyond for us.

    4
    « Clean, pleasant, convenient »

If you;re not familiar with the area, this hotel is about a 15 minute drive to UF campus (depending on traffic) but is 3 minutes to Santa Fe College. Clean, quiet, pleasant staff, impressive free breakfast buffet in the morning. Only complaint was the annoying AC that would cycle on for 30 seconds, off for 2 minutes, then cycle back on again... all night... loudly. Sigh. But other than that, worth considering during a Gainesville visit, for sure!

    4
« Great hotel for business travellers »

Easy access to US 75, free wi-fi, pool, free breakfast, attached restaurant with room service and fresh coffee always in the lobby. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for business travelers.

    5
« Well-run, nice stay, beautiful grounds and facility »

The room was clean, and the hotel and grounds are beautiful. There is a very, very good (on hotel standards, at least) breakfast offered. Much better than average. I would highly recommend staying here. The staff were helpful and didn't do anything to screw anything up, which is great! The fixtures are a little bit dated (you can tell the hotel is not that new), but that's the only negative I can mention.

    5
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

From the moment I pulled into the parking lot I knew I made the right choice. Very nice Hotel; great room and the best staff. We were looking for a convenient place to rest after a long day of traveling. The first call we made to another place was $50.00 more per night, and could only give us a smokers room. Will be calling Best Western first from now on.

« Where to Stay in Gainesville, FL »

Very nice Best Western property to stay in for a week in Gainesville, while we were house hunting. Our room, which faced the well landscaped pool area, was both very comfortable and QUIET! Food from their sports bar was very greasy, but several great restaurants in the immediate area.

    « Saved the Day! »

This hotel saved the day for us on a game weekend when the original hotel we booked was so horrible we could not stay there. The room we were given was clean, big and comfortable. Bob at the front desk could not have made us feel any more welcome. We received goody bags at check in and he made us feel right at home. We are super grateful to Bob and his staff at the Gateway Grand.

« Excellent shuttle driver!! And stay too! »

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel however what really stood out is the hotel shuttle driver, Mike Mc. He waited for my delayed flight (past midnight!!!) to arrive and was ready to pick me up as soon as I left baggage claim. He was very friendly and I really enjoyed the helpful information he provided for me regarding the city! Thanks Mike!!! :)

    « Beautiful hotel »

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. We stayed overnight on our way home from a trip and made our reservation by phone from the road so we were pleasantly surprised when we saw how gorgeous it is. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a separate sitting area and there was a sink by the coffee area with a microwave and fridge. The bathroom was divided so that the sink was separate from the tub and toilet making it easier to get dressed. The only negative was that the A/C unit blew directly on the bed and we had to cover it with a towel so we didn't freeze. Breakfast was good although if you wanted an omelet which they made to order they did charge $3 for that service. Overall this is a great place to stay overnight or longer.

« Excellent Hotel in Gainesville, Florida »

Attentive staff, excellent and easy location right off Interstate 75, very comfortable bed, good breakfast offering, receive a lot of value for money at this property. The adjoining restaurant is good too if you are not in the mood to travel.

« BEST WESTERN GATEWAY GRAND »

Most of the time when we travel we stay at Best Western motels when available and we would rate this property one of the top motels that we have stayed at. The rooms were up to the usual standards of Best Westerns motels and we were very pleased. One thing we have noticed is that many of the Best Westerns have upgraded their air conditioning systems to units that are efficient, quiet and easily adjusted to particular preferences. We were also very impressed with the personal friendliness of the staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome as guests. The hotel is also a beautiful property with a Spanish architectural style which fits well in a Florida setting surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna. For dinner there is also a fine restaurant on the property which we enjoyed and appreciated since we did not have to go far after a long day on the road. The breakfast was also great with an omelet bar for a very small extra charge. We will stay again.

« Kindest, most helpful front desk EVER!! »

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. Forrest and Erial went above and beyond to accommodate my family after I messed up and thought I booked a room here (when in fact, I didn't!). Despite it being a busy game day, they took the time to help me find a room, bent over backwards to give my kids a goodie bag and make them comfortable while we sorted out my mess, and showed patience and kindness the entire time while dealing with me ??. To say that they went above and beyond is an understatement. We are forever grateful for their warmth and humor and look forward to staying here for every Gator game in the near future. Keep up the great work, Forrest and Erial. Thank you for saving me and my family of 5!! We are truly indebted!

« Great Bwst Western to stay in »

Found this Best Western to be one of the nicest ones I have stayed in. Staff very helpful and rooms clean. Our puppy was welcomed too. Can not say anything about the breakfast as we left before 6:30 am. Dinner in the Grill was very good and wait staff were great too.

    « BUSINESS »

I was here with a friend having surgery the next morning. The hotel is very close to the hospital. The lighting at the property was very good and made me feel safe. We were two women traveling alone so safety was a priority.

« Great in gator land »

This hotel had it all! Great front desk staff who gave us a welcome goody bag. Our room was on the first floor and was well appointed . The towels were soft and the bathroom was clean. There is a great bar/restaurant attached. We were given a ticket for a free drink and a mini appetizer. The pool was clean and the pool area had plenty of tables and chairs along with lounge chairs. Towels were provided at the pool and were typical hotel pool towels. The complimentary breakfast was nothing outstanding although for $3 you could get a freshly made omelette! There were nice benches along the side for smokers or people watching. We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is close to the interstate which made it easy to get around town. I would highly recommend it for a stay in Gainesville.

« Overall very nice hotel »

Hotel was very nice. The bathroom always had a bit of a smell even after cleaning, but overall our stay was good. The pool is super nice (other than the classical music being played). Staff is friendly and helpful.

« Great Place To Stay »

Rooms are very clean and entire staff was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is in a clean and well lit area with freshly waffles and more. Even omelettes made to order at a slight extra charge. We stay here every year on our way to tubing, looking forward to next year, already!

    « Surprising »

We pulled up to the hotel and it was beautiful. Located in Gainesville FL right off the freeway hidden on a side street. We were impressed with the size of the lobby and the manicured grounds. The room was big and overlooked a beautiful pool. The breakfast was awesome! All the food was fresh and they even made omelettes. Try this one...it's a sleeper. Wish we could have stayed longer..

    « Once Grand Lady »

The Gateway Grand show signs of a once grand hotel with lovely architecture. However, the old lady is showing signs of her age. The hotel staff was pleasant and courteous. A continental breakfast is complimentary with eggs or omelet prepares to your likely for just $3.00. My AC wasn't working properly and after the second night, I was cheerfully relocated to another room. The rooms were clean and adequate. For inexpensive lodging, the Gateway Grand Best Western is a good value.

« Best place to stay in Gainesville »

Had a great 2-night stay at this hotel. It was very clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff was very accommodating. This will be my go-to place when staying in Gainesville. While it is about 20 minutes from UF, its quality is well worth the extra 5-10 minute drive.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Went to move my daughter in to her dorm at UF....beautiful hotel. I usually book Marriotts but have recently been using Best Westerns as well. This hotel looks like you're walking into a resort, very attractive, with friendly staff and clean rooms...the free breakfast spread was good and had lots of variety. They also had an omelette station as an option ($3.), which I thought was awesome. The only reason I did not give this hotel 5 stars was because of the linens, the sheets and towels were really cheap and not in the best condition. I'm not a picky person when it comes to sheets/towels but these were in pretty rough shape. The towels had a non white dingy color from too much washing/bleach and the sheets were so scratchy and stiff, with no thread count at all. I would definitely stay here again and I hope management reads my review and gets new sheets and towels for the hotel!

« Best Best Western EVER! Grand Indeed! »

We came to Gainesville this summer for my daughter's softball camp at the University of Florida. Another mom and daughter that we went with booked the stay at the Best Western Gateway Grand and to be honest I was a bit nervous because I am a Marriott girl. I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up at the hotel, the grounds were immaculate and beautiful. Palm trees and fauna that were well kept. A great pool/deck area in the back that was quite large and also well kept. The lobby and dining area for breakfast was great and they had welcome cookies and goodies as well as refreshingly infused with fruit. The staff at the front desk was always helpful with every need we had during our 2 week stay with everything from dining options, to directions to making sure we had change for the laundry facilities on the 2nd floor which was conveniently right down from our room. Softball girls get dirty! There was great dining right there at the hotel at a place called the Gators Den Sports Bar as well as a great Sea Food Restaurant right across the road from the hotel too. You are also only 10 short minutes from everything fun in the city of Gainesville as well. This hotel was clean, the housekeeping staff was super friendly and did a fantastic job each day cleaning our room and making sure we had enough towels. Pricing was more than fair for this hotel and when ever we come back to this neck of the woods we will be sure to stay here again!

« Great preparation for a trip to the Swamp »

We have stopped at Best Western's Gateway Grand Hotel in Gainesville, Florida, four times on our vacation trips to Florida over the years. College football fans love the 152-room hotel because the Gators Den Sports Grill is a popular venue after games at the nearby Swamp, Florida's football stadium. We think it is one of the most comfortable hotels we have visited on our trips across the country. We always book a spacious first-floor room with a king-sized bed, separate sitting room and sofa, TV, wifi, refrigerator, microwave, ironing board with iron, temperature control, swimming pool, complimentary breakfast, fitness center, ample parking, business center, hot tub suites and even a presidential suite with a balcony. It is a very comfortable and clean facility with easy access off I-75 and easy access to the Florida campus and downtown Gainesville. I even was accorded Gateway Grand's "visitor of the day" award on one occasion. And don't forget the home-made chocolate chip cookies that are available in the lobby. Pets are welcome, too,

« Nice facility, welcoming staff »

My fiancé and I toured the hotel while looking for places to host our upcoming wedding and we were impressed by the excellent service provided by Mike, Forrest and Ana. They went out of their way to show us around (despite the pouring rain). The hotel grounds were beautiful and well-kept; you can tell that hotel management takes hospitality seriously. Would recommend trying this place for an event or overnight stay.

    « Family visit »

Stayed at this location during a visit with our son (in college). The hotel is CLEAN and easily accessible from I-75. The staff were courteous and professional. Enjoyed the free continental breakfast, along with a fresh omelette (small additional fee). The breakfast staff were super nice and on the ball the entire time we were eating. Check-out was a breeze and again, the staff member was cordial and prompt. This hotel is pet friendly, and although we did not bring our pets, we will in the future, as we intend on staying here often.

We have stayed here multiple times and have always had great experiences. I want to thank the staff, especially Karl, for always being very pleasant and helpful. Karl was extremely helpful and patient with me this week, helping me to extend our stay, and arranging rooms for other family members due to a loss in our family. The rooms have always been clean, all staff members acknowledge guest, and I love that they are pet friendly!

    « Stop Over »

I stay here every year with my parents when we travel from Georgia to Florida. They are a dog friendly hotel. After 10 years , I believe, I see the quality is changing for the worse. After driving all day, by 5:00 fresh baked cookies use to greet you at check in....not this time. They use to acknowledge one guest every night at the front desk on a board...not this time. They use to offer you snacks and/or water when you checked in from a basket....not to me...I had to ask when I heard it was offered to other guests as I was sitting in the lobby waiting for someone . The rooms are small and the bathrooms were TINY.(2 dbl beds) Our mini frig never worked. I turned it to "colder" when we arrive but it never did anything. This hotel still has the a.c. units under the windows. When it goes on, its loud and you freeze. When it shuts off, its loud and your hot. On the positive side, the beds and pillows were comfortable and the breakfast was great. The room was clean. They had gluten free items and my parents said everything was delicious( I don't eat brkfst). Other than the 2:30 am morning prank call that we received, by most part its a quiet hotel.

    « DISAPPOINTED! »

My husband and I stayed here for a business trip. The lobby is very nice, but the hotel room we had was terrible. Before we even got settled in the room we had to call housekeeping to come and change the linens on the bed...there was pet hair all over the sheets and stains! Gross! They brought clean linens but the room had holes in the ceiling tiles and the walls need paint the lamps were old and outdated. It was not a pleasant experience. We will never stay at that place again.

Mike, Carl and Jonathan were most helpful, I felt like family. These guys were courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. I would recommend this facility to anyone. This is our second year booking here and I found the experience more gratifying than my first and I was very impressed then as well.

« Friendly hard working staff »

First I need to start with the front desk. Hannah and Devin are two of the nicest girls that I have encountered at a hotel front desk. Bob The Night Auditor is just as wonderful. They are very attentive to my schedule and my needs. My drivers Mike and Guy are absolutely wonderful and making sure I'm on time and that I have everything. I have a new driver who I believe his name is Gary and he has been very accommodating the last two times I've come in . They even notice that if I'm not on the schedule they make sure to remind me when they see me. Forrest, Tyler and Brian are always very nice as well. They ask me about my day when I come home from work and they're always very welcoming. Johnathan is very helpful as well. I really do love coming to this place on a weekly basis. It's like my home away from home and they do make you feel very welcome and comfortable. The two ladies that run the breakfast in the morning, Emily and her counterpart are very hard-working and as sweet as they can be. I absolutely love this place and when my assignment for work is over, I will miss them all very dearly. I highly recommend anyone visiting Gainesville to stay at the Best Western Gateway Grand. You'll be treated like family by people who genuinely care. They'll take pride in their jobs and it shows!

« Superb and professional staff at all levels »

The front desk staff are extremely, helpful, professional, friendly and efficient. We had a hot tub suite which is phenomenal. I was locked out of my room last week due to a problem with the lock mechanism. Candy Hines, Assistant Director of Housekeeping, personally came in to assist me. When the problem could not be fixed by usual interventions, she asked her colleague, Joseph Johnson, to come by to help us get into our room. He was off duty at that time but came in promptly. He actually had to drill through the plate to open our door and I was told that I needed to change rooms. I had a lot of luggage unpacked in my room and Joseph could see I was apprehensive to move into a new room at this late hour. He then volunteered to go downstairs to his truck and replaced my entire door lock with a new one!.......and Candy brought me a delicious dessert from the Gator Den Grill [excellent place by the way] as I waited to get back into my room. This may seem like a long story, but I have never had better, more professional and more courteous service anywhere; and I have travelled a lot all over the world. Thanks Joseph and Candy and all the wonderful Gateway Grand staff. By the way, the breakfast is amazing and the pool/jacuzzi are wonderful. Joel

    « Comfortable and Clean »

I stay at this hotel every year because their pet friendly. Its clean, the beds/pillows are comfortable, staff is friendly and the complimentary breakfast is exceptional, even to go as far as now finally having gluten free items. They always have fresh warm cookies to welcome the guests at 5:00 but didnt this time. Only negatives are the bathrooms are exceptionally small and the size of the room seems tight and I'm a small person. Two to a room is fine, three's a crowd.

« Old and tired! Keep your shoes on! »

Not sure how this hotel has 4/5 stars! It is old, tacky and out of date! It's like going back to the 80's. I was ready to check out and go to the Marriott. Thank goodness it was only one night that I had to suck it up. The employees are nice...that was the only good thing!

    « An Indian Three-Star -- NOT! »

Very disappointing; definitely not rated correctly. All appointments are old and outdated. Dented metal doors on room and bathroom, chipped furniture, paper-thin walls with some holes and cheap stucco finish chipping off, thin old bed linens, cigarette hole in the curtain. This is a two-star accommodation, with a lovely check-in area.

    « Very Happy »

We booked this property via Hotwire. I did not save much but was very happy with the property. The room was spotless, the beds were comfortable. Our teen and tween grandchildren liked the pool area though the pool seemed a little small. It is landscaped beautifully and a great place to have your morning coffee. They have several cabanas so you an easily get a break from the sun. The breakfast was better than the usual comp breakfast. The front office staff was very professional and helpful. My favorite thing though, we noticed the reserved Purple Heart parking spot! Good Job! Like many who stay in Gainesville (Shands) we will be returning and I will certainly stay here next time. p.s. If traveling with kids I will recommend ordering pizza from 5-star pizza. We chose them after having trouble with the pizza hut delivery and ended up happy that pizza hut had failed. 5-star pizza was far superior.

    « Relaxing stay! »

The Best Western Gateway Grand is a pretty awesome place to stay. Friendly helpful staff, nice family atmosphere. clean and beautiful décor. Forrest was particularly helpful with my phone contact and also checkout. Candy and Carla from housekeeping were a huge help as well. I love the pillows and the beds are so comfy. I wanted to know where to buy the pillows and this staff went above and beyond to provide me with them. Even providing me with the General Manager contact, Ron to make sure I got my pillows. Breakfast area is nice with plenty of goodies, as well as eggs cooked to order! Massage is provided by appointment, and let me tell you these ladies know how to give a theurapeutic massage, and are very professional. The workout facuility is above average with bike machine, stair stepper, treadmill, weight rack, large clean gender specific restroom/changing rooms. The pool and hot tub, outdoor patio area, is roomy, clean, beautifully landscaped. There are plenty of lounge chairs for the sun lovers, quite a few covered seating tables for nice shade, and a few cabanas. Plenty of pool towels as well. I love this place!

« Best pet friendly hotel we've seen »

We stopped here after a week of camping through the panhandle. Unlike some pet friendly hotels, this was very clean and nice. The semi- attached restaurant (The Gator's Den" was also excellent. Food was delicious and the service from Natania our server, and Jaclyn the Restaurant Manager, were superb. Would highly recommend this hotel!

    « Great property! »

We just needed a place to rest overnight before continuing our trip and came upon this hotel. What a lucky find! Clean, large rooms, professional, helpful and friendly staff and a reasonable price. We were a group of 2 adults and 3 children. The room had a king size bed and a pull out couch in a separate area. It was really a 1 bedroom suite so we had plenty of room. We would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the beautiful pool area, but, we were on a schedule and just passing thru the area. If you need a hotel in Gainesville, stay here!

    3
« Way Over Priced for the Location »

If you get sucked in for the $139 a night plus tax rate you should keep looking. This hotel is clean and well kept, but it comes out to be over $150 when all said and done for a couple to spend one night. The rooms are clean and small to average in size, nothing spectacular such as a great view, balcony or a Jacuzzi tub.in the room. I would stay here again but only if the price were more reasonable.

Our vacation started in Michigan. We were headed to St. Pete Beach, Fl. We had planned on driving closer to our destination or all the way, but due to construction, it got too late. We stopped at Best Western without any plans. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff when we checked in late at night was very courteous and so was the staff in the morning when we checked out. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing staff and amenities in a super easy to access location. Great value for the buck and surprising service. Perfect for business and/or personal travel as it is perfectly priced, safe, and very comfortable at all levels.

« Clean, nice & very comfortable room »

This was a great hotel to stop & get a very good night's sleep. Right off I75, pet friendly although I didn't have a pet with me. Even though it was pet friendly, it was very clean and you couldn't smell any pets! Very NICE hotel!:)

« Great Dog Friendly Hotel »

After a long day of packing, moving and heading from Florida to North Carolina we were pleasantly shocked at how nice this hotel was. There was a ground floor room for us and our two chocolate labs; close to an exit and walking area complete with a dog clean up station! We even walked thru the lobby with two big dogs and it was not a problem. THIS HOTEL IS TOTALLY DOG FRIENDLY!!! Being tired we did not want to go back out to find food....NO PROBLEM they had an excellent restaurant with room service and provided us with a free appetizer coupon to accompany our meal......This hotel is excellent if you're traveling with your fur babies or just alone!

« Very Clean and Welcoming Hotel of I-75 »

Enjoyed our stay very much, staff was extremely pleasant, rooms were adequate and clean. I requested extra towels and to my surprise they were waiting in the room for us. It was my first time using this chain and I will certainly stay here again.

We attended a banquet at this hotel and the food was outstanding and the service impeccable! Our server, Elaine, went above and beyond in serving our large group and made the experience fabulous! Great experience!

« Our annual trip to this hotel was GREAT! »

My husband and I had our wedding reception at this hotel and returned for one year anniversary. We love this hotel! The staff members are always extremely friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast is phenomenal! The rooms are always very clean! The pool and hot tub are wonderful! The cleaning service did a wonderful job at cleaning our room and making it up again. The hotel was very quiet during our stay despite a wedding at the hotel. We will definitely return again next year!

    « Gainesville FL trip »

The hotel is in a very convenient location. It was clean, quiet, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. One morning before work, my car would not start and the maintenance man came and gave me a jump. He was so kind and professional. I enjoyed my work week in Gainesville, and relaxing after work in this hotel!

« Great place to stay »

I found the hotel an enjoyable place to stay and would stay here again if I was in the area. The staff was attentive, polite and courteous. The restaurant was average. The breakfast area in the hotel was great though, lots of options and space.

« Not as good as it use to be »

I have been there a few times and when I recently returned I noticed the following: 1. They drastically changed their options for the continental breakfast and lacks the variety they use to have . 2.I am a rewards member and I do not get my rewards bag upon check in although I am Gold status. 3. The cleaning staff seem lazy. They do not vaccum and check everything. The ice bucket still had melted ice in it from 2 days ago. The pool was filled with bugs and needs to be skimmed and one of the front desk clerks (male with dark hair) is somewhat rude.

    « Best Hotel »

This hotel was the best that we stayed in over our 2 week trip. If there were hotel balconies or a closer area for smokers, it would have been perfect. Overall, I highly recommend your hotel. It was very clean and comfortable and very efficient staff. Affordable yet very high end. Loved it!!!

« Convenient and friendly staff »

We were coming to Gainesville for a weekend getaway. We chose this hotel because it was very convenient to the places we were visiting and just off the interstate but quiet. The young man at the desk was very friendly and courteous. The check in was very easy and we were offered snacks from a basket at the desk. The free breakfast area was kept stocked but if you want eggs they are an extra charge. The grounds and pool area were kept up and landscaped very nicely. A good value for the money and would definitely stay here again.

« All rooms are animal rooms »

They have pet friendly rooms and regular rooms. My wife has asthma... when we got there they could only tell us that no pets were in the room for 7 days... come to find out all rooms are pet friendly when the run short of pet friendly. We paid for upgraded linens and a pillow top mattress. I guess it was a pillow top several years ago... quite a rip off. The couch, chair and mattress were well past usable condition.

Could not ask for better! Nice room...very clean... Lovely grounds and lobby..ice water in lobby great on hot days! complimentary breakfast.. Good location... I stay there when I go to Gainesville to visit my Mom in a nearby assisted living at The Village...works out perfectly..

    « Nice Quiet Hotel »

We stayed here for a week during an Archery competition and Archery camp. Clean as a whistle, super comfortable beds, helpful staff, for the most part. The morning cook found it difficult to find some egg whites for an omlette. Had a broken security lock and a prong broken in the electrical socket, these were fixed before we returned the same day they were mentioned. Great place. Not much going on at that exit, which can be either good or bad, depends what you are looking for.

« Best Western Gainesville FL »

Beautiful and comfortable hotel with courteous and friendly staff. Needed to find a place to ship souvenirs to grandchildren and front desk was extremely helpful in finding a place. This hotel was chosen by hostess for surprise birthday party for out of town guests - she couldn't have picked a better hotel!

    « BW »

Enjoyed our stay at BW Gateway Grand. Comfortable, affordable and worth being a little out from the busier areas of Gainesville, FL. Breakfast could include a wider selection of healthy choices, a breakfast meat (bacon or sausage).

    5
    « Wonderful experience! »

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean. A/C was cold and shower had hot water. That's all I ask of a hotel and BW constantly exceeds my expectations. I've stayed on business in that past for an entire year while working on a construction project. You get to know the staff and they treat you like family.

    « Fit our needs »

Very good overall. There was a problem with our AC and we were immediately moved to a new room. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint was that I did not find the bed comfortable. The mattress easily moved around on the bed frame.

« Staying Every Time I Come to Gainesville »

Absolutely love the atmosphere! Front desk clerks have always been SUPER friendly. Rooms have been VERY clean and stylish. This is my 3rd time staying and I definitely look forward to staying here each time we need to come for my daughter's sporting events!

« A beautiful hotel with everything you need »

This hotel is truly stunning to see. It is the most impressive Best Western hotels I've ever seen. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant/lounge right on premise so you don't have to leave at all if you don't want to. Food was good and enjoyed the lounge. The pool area is very resort like and beautiful also. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

    « Great stay »

Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. I was very pleased with the service, room size and comfort of the bed. I don't travel often but will check to see if there is a Best Western available when I do.

« Third time to stay at this hotel »

The room was clean and comfortable. The free, hot breakfast was very good. I did not purchase an omelet but they looked very good. This is a great place to stop while traveling. We will stay here again, if we are in the area again.

    « Nice room »

Nice. Clean. Big. Near interstate but not noisy inside. Nice relaxing pool area with small hot tub. Large room with love seat, Mini fridge, microwave. Staff was friendly. Fast food place within walking distance. Harley dealer across street.

« Good Hotel but lacking a few things »

This Hotel was nice, but it lacks in a few areas - just needs a little attention. The Hotel and the rooms were Clean. The breakfast was O.K., but not the greatest. The overall look of the property was very nice, the staff were very nice, helpful and tentative. The beds in my room were listed as Queen's, but they were a Full size, no way a true Queen Size bed, and just wasn't the right firmness for my liking. The pool looked nice, (I did not get a chance to use it). Stayed here for Business/Training. The Hotel was near the facilities that we needed to attend and seemed centrally located, which it was, we didn't have to go far to find anything we needed. With a little bit of updating and/or attention to detail this hotel could be very good, but as I said - it was nice. If I were passing through the area, I would stay for a night or two, but probably not for an extended stay.

    4
    « Very Accommodating »

We had to travel in to town at the last minute for a family emergency and needed a place to stay with our two pups since we didn't have some one to watch them. Ana at the front desk could not have been more accommodating, kind, and simply wonderful! The gentleman who greeted my husband was very kind and our check in was seamless. The room was exactly what we needed. The ONLY reason why I can't give them an excellent is that the bathroom tiles could have been cleaner, but otherwise I definitely recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Beautiful, and a pleasure! »

I stayed there several days because I came in from another city to have dental surgery. I found this hotel to be like a very high-star hotel, but with a lower price. A pleasure to stay in! The place is lovely, it has ever amenity, the design of it and lobby are beautiful, the employees are helpful and at the beck and call of the guests, the bed and pillows are sleep-inducing, and it is clean and the breakfast is quite good. They even provide fresh cookies! (But I couldn't have them due to the dental surgery). I'll be staying off and on for the duration of my year-long dental treatments.

    « Shantel and Kathy »

As always those two have gone way beyond the job. Their remember everything from the smallest to the greatest details about our annual event. Before we can tell them what w Ned they already have it waiting on us. There's nothing we ask of them they do not provide . You truly have a blessing in these two. I hope you continue to appreciate the jewels you have.

    « Lacrosse Banquet »

We held our annual Girls Lacrosse Banquet here and everything was really wonderful. The wait staff was kind and helpful and everything was done just the way we asked. I'm hoping we get to use this venue again next year. Our servers Austin, Bob, Katherine, Cyndi, Ebony and their supervisor, Mark, were awesome to work with!

    « Good stay »

Our stay was only a few hours due to just passing thru. The hotel staff was nice & efficient & fast. The room was clean & very spacious. The hotel has a lot to offer and wished we had more time to enjoy the amenities. I will definitely keep this hotel in my saves for the future.

Friendly service and good location. Got two rooms that were adjoining and we were very happy. Convenient location to the hospital and other sites. Housekeeping was very thorough and the rooms and hotel are well kept.

    « Second Stay »

This was our second stay at the Best Western Gateway Grand. We chose this hotel because of our positive first stay. We weren't disappointed. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The beds were comfortable. The sink is separate from the shower and toilet facilities which is helpful when three females are staying in a room. The breakfast contained the basics such as cereal, muffins, boiled eggs, french toast, oatmeal, juice, coffee, etc. Omelets are available for a $3. fee. The breakfast area was crowded but additional seating by the pool was nice. When visiting Gainesville, we will definitely consider staying at this hotel.

    « Okay »

close to our destination was the reason for choosing, the hotel is in need of room updates, the continental breakfast is nothing at all like the Holiday Inn continental breakfast. If you are a breakfast eater, plan to go out for breakfast. Staff and Front Desk are friendly. Access to the Hotel is easy, getting out is not so much, no traffic light at the intersection of a fairly busy road. Its okay to make U-turns in Florida so learn how to do that.

    5
« Excellent Service and amenities »

We stayed here on our trek from Canada to home in the Florida Keys. The property is beautiful and well maintained, the food in the Gator's Den Grill is delicious, the breakfast is better than any we've had in a long time: fresh hot oatmeal, eggs made to order, and good coffee! All at a reasonable price.

    « Hidden retreat... »

Best value for the money in Gainesville. I have stayed at other B.W. locations and this one is a GEM. I have stayed there twice in last two months and will gladly stay again. Its tucked away from the highway and the interstate noise is not an issue.

    4
    « Definitely Met Expectation »

Most hotels in Gainesville are Interstate chains that are very predicable. The Best Western Gateway is also predicable - but in a good way. I have stayed there several times and have enjoyed each stay. It was clean and I felt safe there. The bed was quite comfortable. The high speed internet was actually high speed. The pool area was nice. The staff was efficient and prompt. The cost is overpriced in my opinion. A business person may can afford to spend $150.00 and up for a room, but for a person traveling for pleasure, that's a little steep for many of us. Everybody knows to stay away during football season if you are not there for the game. At other times, it is a quiet, relaxing place to stay. It can be hard to locate on the first visit. A larger, more visible sign could be used as it takes a while to get used to Gainesville's street numbering system. A good, trustworthy place to stay if you've got the money.

    « Highly Recommend »

Service and Bed were the BEST! Great breakfast, plenty to choose from and staff kept it clean even with all the commotion of a youth soccer team enjoying breakfast at same time as me. Great Location too, easy access to the 75 making it only a 10-20 minute drive to almost anywhere in Gainesville. I was on the 3rd floor and did not hear anyone else in the hotel when in my room. Slept like a baby!

    5
    « Excellent hotel choice! »

This was our first stay at this Best Western and found it to be perfect for us. The room was quiet and comfortable. We'll be back. We didn't have a chance to use the pool but the pool area was large and inviting. We particularly appreciate the omelet option at breakfast. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

    « Exceptional Service »

My recent stay at the Best Western Grand was outstanding. The grounds, rooms, and associated facilities were clean and well-maintained; the bed was comfortable; and the rooms had helpful amenities (breakfast bar, fridge, etc.). Everything worked the way it was supposed to, except my phone's alarm because I slept so soundly, I slept through the alarm. But what made my stay exceptional was the friendly, efficient, professional service provided by Nina when I checked in! And her penmanship is amazing!!!

    « SERVICE - The BEST EVER! 1-million Likes »

This is by far, THE BEST Customer Service Hotel I have ever been to. The hotel is recently renovated with beautiful pool and tropical decor, free continental breakfast, clean-spacious room. But what attracts me most are the beautiful hearts of every staffs here. Everyone at the counter greet me with a GENUINE.... I mean, REALLY GENUINE-WARM SMILE. They are always ready to address my request. A few weeks before I arrived, I find out that the hotel offer free shuttle to UF-Shands facility. This is great since I don't have to worry about commute. What makes this even better are the drivers: Karl, Brian, and Mike. They all provide superb service and should receive 'Employee of the Month'. Friendly, courteous, prompt, responsible, professional.... what more can I ask? Just to give you an example: I changed my pick up schedule almost every day, and they endorse all my need with kind attitude. One day, I messed up on the schedule, and Karl arrived an hour early. His response? "Don't worry, I can wait for you." With Brian and Mike, polite is an understatement. Being greeted with kind and respect every day make my experience at Best-Western Gateway Grande an enjoyable one. Do I recommend this hotel? YOU BET!

I have been staying at the BW Gateway Grand for business since Jan 2016. I come into FL weekly and I have to say the staff here is great! Carl, Ron, Guy and Mike are the drivers that pick me up from the airport and they area all very friendly and outgoing. They have let me know the fun things to do in town and always welcome me back with a smile. The desk staff is also very accommodating, Tyler, Forrest, Carl and John are all very sweet and know me as soon as I walk in the door. The place is clean, quiet and relaxing. I love it here! It is my home away from home!

« Must Be No 1 BW in Florida »

We just happened upon this BEAUTIFUL Best Western right off the Interstate in Gainesville FL. The setting is lush, the exterior is tropical, and the interior is a cut above. Staff were extremely cordial & ready to assist. The complimentary breakfast buffet offered individually-made omelettes for $3. I would strongly recommend this location ($159).

« First trip to Gainesville. »

I have to say that the staff was great and they tried really hard.. They were receptive to our needs and tried to help us. We spent four nights at the hotel. The room was clean but a bit "tired." The TV didn't work on all stations and couldn't be fixed. The staff was sympathetic about that and even brought us a dessert treat and took 10% off the bill. The free breakfast was okay, but not up to the standards that you see in most hotels these days. I wish they had provided "real" cream for the coffee rather than the liquid coffeemate stuff and the little creamer pods. We had Easter brunch in the ballroom, the food and the service were so-so and there was zero ambiance in the room. We will be returning to Gainesville, but I think we will try another hotel.

    « Great experience »

We arrived after a long night and day of driving and were very pleased with this hotel and its amenities. Nice room with a king-sized bed and a wall half-way across the room to separate the bed from the living area that included a sofa-bed. This was where our kids slept, and it was really nice to have a bit of privacy from the kids, that is often not a possibility when staying in a hotel! We arrived early enough to enjoy a swim in the pool, which was too cold to actually get into, however we did enjoy the hot tub next to it a lot! We ate at the restaurant attached and were very pleased with the food and service there too. Breakfast in the morning was good and included everything we needed, plus a few treats. The staff were very courteous, well-prepared and helpful and we felt immediately at home. It was a great way to start our vacation!

« Don't book through Best Western International »

I booked a room for 3 nights using Best Western International website. The bottom line is that the Hotel said "We can't help you - you booked through a web site - BWI" They would not accept that BWI was Best Western International and just repeated that web sites spoof real sites. I had an email confirming the reservation with the BW logo. Meant nothing. The cost was $170 plus tax. The room was not clean, the view was of the garbage bin, which was used late at night and early in the morning. I have stayed in much nicer and cleaner $50 rooms. Our only recourse was to cancel night 2 and 3 and find a better Hotel.

    4
    « NICE STAY »

I stayed on a business trip. I did not notice the noise from the interstate. The only problem I had was that I went to get water from the little cooler that had water, ice, and lemon in the lobby and a chunk of mold fell out into my cup. Other than that my stay was great. I didn't even hear the cars passing by on the interstate.

« very comfortable and clean »

We were quite pleased with our room! We where quite surprised by the size of our room, with a separate living area, and small kitchenette. Staff where very nice and helpfull. we ate at the restaurant there, fantastic meal! We could not here anybody out in the hallways, which is a big plus! Would say this is one of the best Best Westerns we have stayed at.

    « Nice Stop »

Stopped in on the at north. Found it trip advisor. Hotel was very nice. As mentioned other times the reception area is very nice. The desk clerk was very helpful asked many questions trying to get best rate. They gave us a coupon for free appetizer at the restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was very good. We used the pool area. It was very nice with a pretty good size pool and hot tub. Free breakfast was adequate with all of the basics. You could order eggs made to order for a fee. Checkout went very smooth. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

    « Clean and Spacious »

Stopped here for 1 night driving through Gainesville and was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, with plenty of space for our family of 4. The staff was very friendly and there is a small restaurant attached which had good food and great service as well. Breakfast was included and had a variety of healthy options including gluten free and vegan as well as pastries and make your own waffles. If I am in the area again I would stay here. Great value for the price!

    « GRAND SURPRISE! »

From the moment you step inside its obvious this hotel is a cut above the average Best Westerns! The two-story lobby with a grand entrance and decor welcomes you. There is a walking bridge overlooking the lobby and large dining room area. And the POOL! The front desk clerk was pleasant and kind when we arrived at 2 a.m. after flight delays. The room was surprisingly large with a double closet; small kitchen area with a fridge, microwave and sink; a new tile shower with a hinged glass door inside a separate room with the toilet so no bathroom sharing required for the sink, mirror and large countertop; a sitting room with a couch, chair and work desk with chair; and a king sized bed with end tables, adequate lighting, another comfy chair, side table and large flat screen TV on a dresser situated between the bedroom and sitting room. And... It was updated, spotlessly clean and tasteful. And... Quiet and comfortable. My only complaint would be the entire hotel was hungry at 8:30 - 9:00 am for the yummy complimentary breakfast. Lots of table sharing but alas, only one empty chair for the two of us. The $3 made-to-order eggs or omelettes line was too long for our short time allowance. To the hotel's credit, it was at 100% capacity with families and groups on this Easter/School Spring Break Saturday. Not a bustling business traveler in the bunch. One wonderful added touch was a laminated card with A Traveler's Blessing propped on my pillow. It wished us safety, rest and peacefulness as well as prosperity and blessings in our endeavors. I truly felt welcomed and will definitely be back.

Very comfortable room and was able to accommodate our dog for an additional $20. And there is an animal hospital just up the street. Free breakfast is not so free if you want eggs to order. Attached restaurant is convenient and there is another nice restaurant within walking distance. Random soccer field is a nice area for Fido to roam or kids to run around.

Stayed here for my sisters wedding. My wife and 4 kids. Pool is outdoors, really nice, not too much chlorine and clean, hot tub. Staff is super attentive and nice. Recently updated it seems. Kids liked it. Heard restaurant has great food. We had other plans and didn't eat there. Folks were at the pool calling in orders and staff would deliver to pool area. Everything worked. Would definitely stay here again.

A little pricier for similar amenities in equal quality hotels in the area. Rather noisy and chaotic breakfast area. Otherwise, excellent service, very comfortable rooms. Very clean all over. Convenient location to activities in Gainesville, especially Santa Fe and NW area.

« Quiet New Years Eve »

We stopped in Gainesville at Best Western on our way to Naples. It was New Years Eve but we do not party anymore so we enjoyed a quiet dinner at Gators Den Sports Grill which is attached to the hotel. The hotel offered a discount coupon and we could walk so we did. We enjoyed the restaurant and having a clean comfortable place to stay for the night. The Best Western Gateway Grand is just that, Grand. The lobby made me feel like I won the lottery. I would book this hotel again.

    « Great meeting location »

My department at UF has been holding our annual research seminar at the Best Western Gateway Grand for 14 years and we've had a wonderful experience every year. The Director of Catering, Jorge Negron, could not be a more customer-focused individual. He ensures that a stressful day goes smoothly. Also, the catering and catering staff have improved over the years. The whole team has been extremely helpful. Although a little out of the way from the university, the cost savings and excellent customer service make this venue a preferred venue over the closer, more expensive alternatives.

My son just got married this past weekend. We used this hotel for both the rehearsal dinner and the reception. Everyone was exceptionally accommodating. Mark one of the banquet set up managers even went out of his way to accommodate my friends after the rehearsal dinner. Without exception all of our family and friends who mad the trip for the weekend were amazed and extremely happy about how helpful and nice everyone was and how clean the rooms were. Highly recommend them for a wedding reception and overnight stay.

« Not Too Grand to Love... »

The First Commandment of hotel travel is, unless you have a tassel in the graduating class, never book a room in a college town; a motel there doesn't have a chance against the party crowd that leaves the rooms as trashed as their war zones at home. Of course, this only occurred to me too late when I was already heading off the I-75. What appeared instead was not only a reminder that rules should be broken, or at least tested, but a vision of such elegance and stately dignity that any seasoned road warrior, already calloused by madding crowds and shopping malls, motel rows next to fast-food outlets, must think they have arrived at a grown-up version of the Magic Kingdom. Welcome to the Gateway Grand. The Grand, in this case, is not one of those puffy overstatements at all. A regal courtyard entrance is a rebirth of those handsome cottage-style resorts of early Florida, sometimes even referred to as the "Pink Ladies" for their flamingo coloring and while no longer pink, the sprawling scale and spacious grounds clearly belong more to a gracious era of Broadmoors and Breakers than today's interstate boxes. The long driveway and circular entrance are not just movie set props; the lobby itself is a two-story elegant reminder of wrought iron balconies and great hotel showmanship; the reception desk is also dressed for the occasion-- even though you still have to carry your own bags. And this, you are telling yourself, is still a Best Western? Nothing here disappoints from then on; in fact, the real show is as good as its opening number. The rooms are tailored and tasteful suites of decorator colors, as handsomely fully equipped as small apartment; the bedding, mattress and pillows, actually feel fresh and new; the lobby and breakfast area are next to a pool and courtyard the equal of any luxury resort; the Fitness Room is equally professionally laid out, and, of course, there is not only a restaurant, but a smart Sports Bistro with its own style and freshness, and room service as well. The breakfast hour avoids the usual steamline clichés and even offers for a slight ($3!) surcharge an omelet and fresh eggs station. In short, it's the kind of place that makes you wonder why you are going anyplace else, and inquire a bit about how this Grande Dame of the 20's became a Best Western anyway. We have not forgotten that First Commandment. What about that certain nearby University of Florida? The Gateway Grand is just far enough way and located on its own quiet cul de sac to let others take the brunt of that youthful punishment. It remains, literally, in a way it had probably always been, in a world of its own. For this traveler, it remains among a small handful of great and memorable hotels, almost all of them charging three or far more times its rate. It also seems so far out of the ordinary that it has not only been overlooked by its own college town, but by those bureaucrats who actually run Best Western. The BW chain is currently hard at work upgrading its "brand image" into "Plus" and "Premium" categories at price boosts to match. And so, we asked, where did the Gateway Grand fall? Plus or premium? It turns out it failed to qualify as even a plus-- because it has only one elevator. Go figure. Enjoy the Grand on your own.

    « Nice Pet-Friendly Hotel »

We stayed here for one night along with our two dogs in a trip from South Florida to Georgia. This hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet and perhaps one of the nicest pet-friendly hotels we've ever stayed in. The bed was particularly comfortable, as though the mattress had been newly replaced, and we enjoyed a great night's sleep. The continental breakfast was just that so don't expect anything more. For an up-charge of $3, eggs to-order are available. We thought it was unusual that there was no fruit available so my recommendation to F&B management would be to include a bowl of mixed fruit at breakfast. I am allergic to gluten, eggs and dairy so I could only consume juice and coffee for breakfast. Fruit is a healthy food option that guests like myself would appreciate and it is easy to order and manage.

    « Nice hotel »

Stayed one night while traveling home. Very attractive property. Has very nice pool area. Well decorated rooms. Spacious hallways and lobby was very quiet in room. In a nice peaceful area near interstate. Had wall thermostat (a plus! )Reasonable price for what is close to an upscale hotel. A couple minor negatives, no express checkout seems odd for a 152 room hotel and the complimentary breakfast has a three dollar charge for an omelette. Tacky! Someone at corporate needs to rethink this!! Even was told of this upon check-in. Would recommend this place! Staff friendly.

« Great hotel for visiting University of Florida »

Stayed here a college visit to University of Florida with my daughter. Easy on and off 75. Close to college. Friendly staff. Restaurant on premises. Close to Publix and Walgreens. Clean hotel. I would recommend if in the Gainesville area.

« Great place to put on a celebration »

This was the 3rd time I've been there and every time it was great. All the staff was helpful and friendly and the food was very tasty. The atmosphere was very pleasant and clean. During the night on the dance when the older crowd looked lost tring to keep up with the modern dance steps a wait staff member by the name Joanne went above and beyond to quickly teach us the dance so we didn't look to lost. . It was a very pleasurable night full of laughs and fun. [email protected] I would definitely suggest this place if you are looking for a place to hold an event in Gainesville.

    « Party venue »

It was an awesome venue to hold a party. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Especially a specific staff member Joanne. She was such a big help when needed and always available and helpful . She even directed the party on how to dance. We were all grateful for her for helping us not to look clueless with modern dance steps. I've been there a few times and she and the rest of the staff have been amazing . A great place to stay and have an event.. Thank you Joanne.

    « Great reception »

Karl in the reception went above and beyond in order to fix the problem that arose when we were checking in. Our reservation had been filed for the previous night, so it took a little work to get everything squared away. End result: we were very happy with our room and even more with the free dessert Karl treated us to, thank you it was delicious.

« Surprised by the quality of hotel »

I have enjoyed Best Western Hotels in the past so this experience came as a surprise. The room was in desperate need of remodeling. Sofa was soiled and chair sagged. Carpet did not look clean. The windows were very dirty, so dirty in fact that you really could not see out of them. Anxious to leave in the morning.

    « Lovely building »

This is really a lovely building. The room was a mini-suite and was lovely, clean, and very enjoyable. The divider between the bed area and the couch area allowed me to get up before my husband and read. I love that -- having an extra space. The only thing I thought was lacking in the hotel was that the breakfast featured an omelette option (for a small added cost) but no egg and meat option for those not choosing the omelette. Most BWs do offer scrambled eggs and sausage these days as part of the breakfast buffet. The problem with omelettes -- you have to wait for them to be prepared.

    « Successful Business Meeting/Conference »

We recently held an important statewide training institute at the Gateway Grand. The banquets manager Allen and staff member Shantil were able to anticipate and meet our needs and solve any issues quickly and efficiently. Shantil made you feel that your satisfaction and your event was the most important thing that day!

    5
    « Excellent service »

We recently held a large meeting at the hotel and we were very satisfied with the service provided. Shantil worked very hard to meet our banquet and meeting room needs. If I asked for something, she quickly responded. Alan was also extremely helpful and anticipated our every need. Sheila in the breakfast area was kind enough to bake my waffle for me when I couldn't quite figure out how to manipulate the waffle maker.

    « A great hotel suprise »

This is the second time we have stayed here and once again our stay was outstanding. First, they are pet friendly, which is often a requirement for our trips. Secondly, the hotel is not like any other Best Western we've ever stayed in. The interior and exterior look like we are at a Hilton property. Plus the staff are so friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to accommodate any request. And the best part are the $3 breakfast omelets. It takes hotel breakfasts to another level. They have a beautiful philosophy that is posted in every room about treating the traveler as they would wish to be treated. We have been so impressed that we go out of our way to stay there.

    « Wonderful & Cozy weekend »

Excellent staff, kind and polite! This location is gorgeous. We came to Gainesville for a wedding in Alachua. The entire wedding party, family and friends stayed here due to the great rates! Publix, walgreens, wendys, BK, gas station etc, only 3 mins away. Very convenient!

« Good breakfast and attentive staff. »

This hotel was booked for my husband and I by a friend. The lobby was very inviting and the rooms were clean. They serve a free continental breakfast and for $3.00 you can add a customized omlett. The breakfast was very good. There were two groups of wedding guests staying there that weekend which added to late night hallway noise and my neighbors apparently had children in the room who were playing very noisy video games. By 11:45 p.m. I had had enough and finally called the front desk. Within ONE MINUTE they had resolved the problem. I just wish I had called them sooner. I will definitely stay here again.

    « You Won't Be Disappointed »

Whenever I stay at a hotel, I can always judge its quality by the cleanliness of its sheets and bathrooms, and the variety of its provided breakfast. This hotel gets a 5 out of 5 in my book! I have never feasted so well at a hotel-provided breakfast. There were waffles, pastries, bananas, yogurt, sausage breakfast sandwiches, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, bagels, and an assortment of coffees, teas, juices, and hot chocolate. I was very much pleased, and if I am ever again in the Gainesville area, I will gladly stay again.

« Best hotel experience I have ever had. »

I have traveled a lot in my 69 years, and I have never felt so comfortable in a hotel. It is a welcoming, tastefully decorated hotel with lovely landscaping, quiet and clean rooms, and all the amenities. The layout appears to have been designed with guest comfort and enjoyment as top priorities. The lobby and dining area are conducive to visiting with friends in your travel party, and yet there are lovely areas for enjoying quiet alone time for visitors traveling solo. The pool/jacuzzi area, with open or covered seating areas and beautiful landscaping, also provides spaces both for visiting or for relaxing alone. I was in Gainesville for a wedding with its memorable and joyful reunion of family and old friends. Following a delicious breakfast, many of us remained in the dining area for quite a while, chatting and feeling the joy of reunion and "catching up". Staff were not only friendly and helpful, but they more or less set the tone for a hotel with a particularly warm, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. All staff were wonderful, but I will especially mention those with whom I interacted: Brian, Forrest, and Karl. They definitely set the tone for our sense of feeling genuinely welcome. For a wonderful four days we felt that we had a home away from home. (One more note: complimentary airport shuttle!)

« One of the Best Best Westerns »

We were traveling with a small dog around the holidays, this hotel was able to accommodate our little friend. I must say this place was great. it is right off of I-75 so you are less than a 1/4 mile from the ramp. (not noisy at all) and the staff was extremely friendly from check in to check out. The breakfast in the morning was very good and they had "breakfast on the go" bags by the front desk which were convenient. The rooms are large with a seating area, kitchenette and king bed. We are in the area often and will definatley stay here again.

    « Weary Midwest Travelers »

When we decided that Gainesville would be our stop for the night, I started searching for a deal. We wanted a nicer place, preferably with a restaurant attached or close by. There are only 3 star out of 5 hotels in the area so I chose this one because of the restaurant attached. We had driven 14 hours and wanted out of the vehicle. It is definitely a 3 star. It is older but clean in the room. I thought the common areas could have been cleaner. No kings available so we were given doubles but they were comfortable enough. The sports bar was good and convenient. The servers were attentive and food was good. They have some local brews which we love and they were good on tap. All in all, for the Priceline deal, it was good.

    « Breakfast?? »

During the Christmas season the hotel lobby was beautifully decorated. Personal was friendly and seemed happy. We were disappointed with not being informed that there was a fee for breakfast, when we booked the room. Also, when they remodel, a chair height toilet would be nice. Next time I will enquire about a room for my mobility issue.

No complaints. staff was great, hotel/room was very clean, decorated very nicely for the holidays. Would stay again. onsite restaurant was good. great service and the food was surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant.

    « Quick Stay »

Hotel was very nicely decorated for the holidays and the service was great. Unfortunately, the room layout was a bit awkward and somewhat uncomfortable for watching TV which was shared between the bed area and the living area. The problem was that the tv would not twist all the way to either area so you had to watch TV from an angle either way. Also, the A/C units sound like a freight train when they are on. Okay for a quick stay, not recommended for lengthy stay is you want to get sleep and watch some TV. Overall, the service was good.

« Not grand but good for pet people »

Our first glimpse of this hotel and conference center lived up to its majestic name; inside things look a little tired (the walls remind me of hospital decor). But thanks to a comfortable, non-squishy bed and the warm welcome to our dog (complimentary treats, grassy grounds and affordable $20 pet fee, the Gateway Grand was the right place for us. Bonus: the on-site sports bar serves tasty, reasonably priced comfort food. My husband pronounced his steak the best he's had in a while.

Better make sure the cleaning people are double checked to insure your room is cleaned. This is the second time during a visit they dropped the ball. Also, if you need an urgent package delivered, you better check with the front desk every fifteen mnutes becuase despite their assurances, they may fail to contact you.

Excellent hotel right off I-75. Very clean. Nicely decorated for Christmas. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was free and outstanding. Average hotel - average room - Needed to be updated. We were given a handicap room although we did not asked for it. They said it was because we made the reservations thru Hotels.com. The bathroom in particular was very dated and needed repairs. The sink water faucet did not have any water pressure at all.

Rooms condition was good and it was mentioned in the Tripadvisor. I did called up the hotel (though not needed) as we were reaching there way past midnight. Good front desk (Mr. Bob on the checkin day). Decent breakfast. Will surely stay there in future.

We have stayed at this Best Western 3 times in the last 5 years and have been totally satisfied with everything. It almost felt like we were staying at a relative's big house. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. The place felt like a cozy, warm, loving home.

This hotel charges at the high end for the area but is very average except for the public areas. It is far from popular venues It was obvious the rooms weren't vacumed as we found a pacifier on the floor. The shower dripped and the tissue box was empty.Because it has a large conference/party venue it is hard to find a parking space after 7:00 PM .

    « Friendly and comfortable! »

Nice, friendly hotel, convenient to Rte 75, Univ of Florida, Shands Hospital etc. Pleasant lobby was decorated beautifully for the holidays. Rooms are clean and well furnished with sitting area, small fridge and microwave. Front desk recommended 3rd floor room - there was a large Holiday party on the first floor, but I never heard a sound. The outdoor pool and hot tub area is nice and clean, also has a fitness center. Complimentary breakfast off the front lobby. Would stay here again!

    « Pleasant Stay »

Came to Gainesville to visit the University of Florida's libraries and chose this hotel because I'd stayed at it about 10 years ago. The hotel is just as nice as when I stayed here before. My room was clean, well maintained, and I was able to get a good night's sleep. For a reasonable rate, I had 2 queen beds, refrigerator, microwave, wet bar with sink, and a separate sitting area with sofa and coffee table. The hotel offers breakfast for its guests, and includes fruits, juices, cereals, waffles, muffins, hard boiled eggs, bagels, and coffee. The only charge is 3.00 for freshly cooked to order eggs, either scrambled or omelet, in which you can select the condiments you'd like. My omelet was delicious and I found this to be a nice touch to the usual breakfast buffet offered by many chains. There is a good restaurant on site for other meals with a menu offering a variety of sandwiches, main dishes, and salads. It has a complete bar, featuring sports broadcasts on various TV's, but it is quiet enough to carry on a conversation, and it is ok for families with children, as it is not a typical sports bar. If you prefer to eat somewhere else, there are restaurants nearby within 10 minutes, or you can easily get into the heart of Gainesville in a short period of time, which I did, to sample local fare one evening. There was a pool but it was chilly while I was there so had no opportunity to use it. The hotel is not too far from the University of Florida and I had no problems getting to and from the campus. One hint, if you are visiting UF, do check on parking policies. I recommend getting a visitor's parking pass, available at the school's Transportation office, all of which you can Google. This will make your visit to UF more pleasant, knowing you don't have to worry about getting ticketed, or finding a place to park. Overall, hotel service by the front desk and other employees was friendly, yet professional. When I checked out, the front desk guy on duty was very helpful in assisting me when I needed it to revise the remainder of my stay in Florida. I needed to get away from the unexpected cooler weather I encountered at the end of my 2 day stay. I had hoped to visit several outdoor, local attractions, and travel to others in the region, before heading back home. Someday, when it's warmer, I'll be back to enjoy these attractions, and plan on staying in this hotel when I return!

Second time staying at this hotel! Service has not changed! A great place to stay, quiet, dynamic staff! Staff quick to take care of an issue we had with our room. Moved us to a much nice room. Breakfast is okay, would like a few more choices however. Being a hotel in Florida...maybe offer biscuits and gravy!

    « Therapy stay for a week »

Very friendly staff. Fresh baked goods in the front everyday. Nice rooms. Laundry room. Beautiful grounds. The lobby was decorated so nice for Christmas. Pool and hot tub area was clean and a nice place to sit during the day. We really enjoyed our stay! Was a better stay than I thought it would be. The only recommendation I have is the trash can for recyclables be a different color so you can differentiate.

    4
« Very nice facility convenient to I-75 and University of Florida, 20 min to airport »

We had a small suite with a king size bed and a queen size convertible couch. It was nice to have a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Breakfast is included with exception of custom omelets at small additional charge. Hot coffee was always available off the lobby. We didn't visit the attached bar and restaurant but noticed it was very busy. When we visit Gainesville again, it will be our hotel of choice.

    3
    « What I Expected »

It's a Best Western so I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised by the great customer service at check-in and check-out. The only thing that makes me rate the hotel at three stars is the rooms. I could barely walk in the bathroom to get in the shower because the door opened right up against the toilet. The rooms just need a makeover and the place would be amazing! Since we were here in December the lobby was decorated really nice with decoration and a Dickens Village that my kids loved looking at!

    4
    « Well kept »

This is our favorite hotel on trips to Gainesville. It's a few years old now, but is always clean and the staff is very friendly and well informed. It's not in the center of everything, but is close to whatever you need. The free breakfast is nice, but they also have the option of fresh omelets and scrambles for a small fee ($3 when we were there). It's also pet-friendly with a nice large field (and clean up facilities) for the you to walk your dog or sidewalked road-side areas if you prefer a longer walk. But the rooms never smell like a wet dog, which is a problem I've found at other pet friendly hotels. We stay here at least twice a year, it's not the cheapest, but as long as you're not looking for a weekend during Gator home weekends, it's reasonable for a nice room.

    5

The exterior appearance and name makes you think this site is fantastic, but we were a little disappointed in the cleanliness and inside. I always feel bad if I give a not so good review, the place has lots of potential, just needs some updating and scrubbing. We did not use the pool area, but from our room it looked nice.

Attended a large event with over 200 people this week in one of the large banquet rooms. The service was wonderful, especially by Melvin, the server for our table. He was very attentive and was singing when we arrived. The food was good. Overall very good experience.

« Comfortable room, pleasantly unremarkable. »

The most that can be said about this hotel is the relative benign nature of my stay. The room was comfortable and clean. There were no bad odors and the a/c was not too loud or humid. The "breakfast" was laughable but certainly no worse than other chains. The greatest asset is their location -- just off the highway and far from the Gainesville traffic (though also far from any decent restaurant).

    2
« No hot water in the shower. We arrived 10:45 at night and left before 9 AM »

Room was ok, just ok. When we went to shower in the morning, there was no hot water in the bathroom. There was hot water in the sink outside of the bathroom. We didn't have time to get someone to get the hot water fixed. We had to leave We were on our way to a convention in Orlando. We stayed in a beautiful room at the Waldorf Astoria there. In comparison, this room at Best Western was a ZERO.

    « Great Night »

Beautiful hotel, inside and out. Clean rooms. Would definitely stay here again. Stayed here last year. Lobby looks like a 5-star hotel....very nice! Bed was very comfortable, and so were the pillows. Our room, to our surprise, had a lounge area, with a sofa and a chair.

« Diamond in the rough! »

Hotel was a little hard to find due to cities' sign ordinance, but well worth the effort. Beautiful hotel, lovely grounds, sports bar and grill on sight, (Gator's Den) had great food and our waitress, Tammi, was exceptional. Free breakfast was very nice as well as lovely eating area. Can't say enough "greats" about our stay there. Sadly, it was only 1 night. Definitely on our list to stay next time passing through there.

« Pet friendly and convenient to U of Fla. Small Animal Hospital »

Have tried other locations closer to the small animal hospital, but more costly and not as easy to get into as this property. This location, Exit 390 is about 15 to 20 minutes away, but we found it to be a better pet friendly hotel. That is why we repeatedly use it whenever we have to bring our pet back for her checkups. You don't have to drive for miles to eat, as there is a restaurant connected to the hotel. It is open evenings or you can get room service. The food is great! Rooms also have small refrigerators and microwaves. The property is older but they have the lobby decorated tastefully for the fall season. The King rooms are quite spacious, so you have plenty of room for yourself and pet. Hotel has a breakfast bar, and also complimentary breakfast bags for their guests to take with them. In the evenings in the lobby, they usually have cookies and some kind of refreshment you can take to your room. When traveling with a pet all of these features help so you don't have to be away from your pet too long.

Hosted a car show/meet at this hotel a month ago and was impressed with the facilities but mostly impressed with the entire staff. Everybody was friendly, pleasant, helpful and cheerful even under fire. Our banquet staff (Mark, Shantil, Kaitzyn, Sara, Katherine, Caleb & Austin) did an AMAZING job setting up the space, and breaking it down for the 2 nights the room was required. All very quick to answer any questions and very professional. Highly recommended!

While visiting my sister inGainesville in October my husband & I had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at this property. We found it to be quite clean & the staff was very friendly and the check in was quick and efficient. « Visiting family »

The hotel was very clean & the bed was comfortable. The only downside was the A/C unit - it has an air diverter attached which causes it to blow directly onto the bed. When the air is blowing you have to really cover up but when it shuts off you find yourself getting hot and throwing off the covers. I did bring this to the attention of the front desk & was advised to set the a/c units fan to the "on" position, however, the control in our room did not function correctly. The manager said he would have maintenance take care of it. Other than that, we really enjoyed the stay. There is a restaurant/bar, large swimming pool, a fitness center and is very easy to access off of I-75.

« Once super Best Western goes to dump ...and dogs! »

I am a Best Western Rewards Platinum member. I have stayed at Best Western Hotels throughout the US. I have also stayed at this facility back 0n 4/26/14-4/29/14 and had it been then like it is now, I would not have returned. I arrived on Monday 10/19/15 for a 4-night stay. The first night I used 20,000 Best Western Rewards points and I had a 2nd reservation for the following 3-nights at the military rate of $99 per night. My issues have to do with cleanliness and pets. 1. Cleanliness. I was absolutely shocked how dirty the stairs, landings and hallways were upon my arrival. Even the elevator floor, walls and doors were dirty! Spilled beverage stains on the stairwells and filthy dirty carpeting on the stairs and in the hallways. It remained that way until late Tuesday morning and then began to get dirty again by Wednesday. Seriously, how can you expect to earn high ratings and valuations for the price being charged with total disregard for cleaning. The room carpeting was also poorly vacuumed. This is the classic attitude that because you are the only Best Western in Gainesville FL...a very business market, that you can let the standards expected at a Great Western Grand go to crap. 2. I understand that pets are important to travels, but the hotel needs to consolidate them to a single floor. I received an upgrade to room 333 because of my platinum standing. Throughout the evening on 10/19/15, I had to endure the dog in room 336 barking constantly as the guest decided to go out for the evening. Then on 10/20/15, two small dogs left in room 334 barked (high pitch) for 15-20 minutes every time someone walked down the hall. Also room 336 dog added in to the chorus. On10/21/15, room 336 was back to the same routine. And yes, I did call the front desk on all occasions and Tonya even heard it herself on night #2 when I locked myself out of the room and she had to open my door for me. Honestly, they have went way down hill. Even the quality of the breakfast declined, and to charge for eggs after charging top-rate for your rooms. you have a lot of nerve. My reservation specifically stated a non-pet room. Seriously, this was like sleeping in a kennel. When I went to bed I put a towel at the bottom of the door and set my AC for fan-on versus auto to cover-up the barking . So disgusted, I actually for the first time in a long time went to a competitor who was non-pet (except service animals) with clean hall-ways, clean elevators, and also a considerably cleaner room! So I checked out a day earlier than expected on my stay. Had I been delighted, I would have stayed longer as I have at many Best Western hotels. Most Best Western Hotels get raving reviews from me on these and Trip Advisor, this hotel will not. GROSSLY DISSAPPOINTED! I seriously doubt I will ever return. Just sick I wasted 20,000 Reward Points on night #1. They have super people...especially Nina at check-in and Tonya during the stay and on check-out was also exceptional. Had it not been for the staff, this hotel would get the lowest ratings across the board.

    « Pricy for overnight »

I booked this hotel for the night on our trip back to Florida for the winter months. I knew the price but wanted to try it. I wasn't dissatisfied, we didn't use the pool or the gym, as it was late. The room need updated. The hotel is a non-smoking hotel, which we always look for. There is a pub onsite for some late dinning. The food was vary good, because Florida had a game that night it was very noisy.

This is the 2nd time our club has hosted a Studebaker Car Show at the hotel. It was an amazing weekend. The managers - Jorge, Kimberly & Ron helped us plan some very special events and Jorge was there (with a cast on his arm) to help decorate the banquet room. Brian, Allen, Josh, Melvin & Adam and the folks at the front desk stayed busy helping through the entire weekend and were pleasant no matter what I asked them to help with. Amazingly, they were able with staff to set up the banquet room each night with only one hour between our event & the event preceding ours. I will never doubt their abilities in the future. Also, the folks working at the banquet were great - friendly and efficient. Many thanks to Mark, Shantil, Caleb, Katherine, Austin, Kaitlyn, Ana and Sara. Our stay could not have been nicer.

    « Great experience »

Comfortable beds. Big rooms but I would not recommend sleeping on the couch or the pull out. Those mattresses are so thin and uncomfortable. I didn't acutally sleep on it but it didn't look too comfortable. Clean and housekeeping was efficicnet. Friendly staff . Nice outdoor appearance. Good location when visiting the University and a great parent rate. Breakfast was disappointing though. Had to pay for omlettes/eggs. Most of the food was sugar based, donuts, breads, yogurt with fructose etc). Nothing healthy. I know waffles aren't healthy, but not even the ability to make waffles. That is one improvement needed. I would suggest bringing something healthy for breakfast.

This hotel is top notch, inside and out. The employees are pleasant, competent and knowledgeable of the area. The beds and pillows are good quality and the rooms are a good size and very clean. I have stayed here six nights since I discovered the hotel and plan to stay two more in November. Even though this hotel is NOT a short distance from where my appointments are located I choose to stay here for the excellent accommodations.

« Best Western not the best »

We booked this hotel in July for a UF football game in September. We were met at the front desk by a great staff who helped get a room ready for us early and provided us with game-day bags. However, the room we were in was on the first floor past the conference center and was terrible. The hotel was booked so there was no way to change. The room was clean, but certainly not more than you would expect from a roadside motel. I contacted the hotel regarding the poor stay and was simply provided with the typical "sorry" email. We will not be staying there again.

« Great value, great sleep »

This hotel is just off the freeway. However, it's very quiet and located at the end of a dead-end street. Bikers, the Harley-Davidson dealer is just across the road. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the room had all of the expected amenities. Breakfast was very good, with an available omelette bar at a reasonable cost. The staff is simply outstanding! Wi-Fi was strong and reliable. There are a number of restaurants not too far away, or the hotel has a restaurant on site. The pool and hot tub area is very nice, with a large patio area. It's a great place to relax and cool off at the end of the day.

This is a really good hotel with lots of amenities and professional staff. The hotel is clean, quiet and even pet friendly. It was the nicest Best Western I have seen. It is almost next to I 75 and close to restaurants. It is only one exit to a shopping mall and to downtown Gainesville, Fl.

This hotel was hard to find from the interstate, but it is well worth looking for. We got a suite which was very nice and roomy. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and they had Bath and Body Works soaps and hair products. The pool area is very nice and the surrounding view is very serene. The continental breakfast had a lot of items to choose from and you had the option of a $3 made to order omelet. This hotel is definitely grand and we would stay here many more times!

I was there with family for an antique car show. ALL staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and all of them greeted us with a smile and a great attitude. Grounds and rooms were impeccably clean and well kept. We will definitely go again.

« Pleasant problem free stay »

Nice hotel, clean rooms, everything I needed for business. Even had a convenience store 1/4 mile up the road with friendly staff. Breakfast was included, but it was standard fare with nothing to get excited about, but did the job fueling me up for the day. Would use them again without a second thought.

« Hotel okay - avoid the restaurant »

Requested roll away and charged (did not receive) and they did correct the bill at checkout. Requested extra pillows, towels and blankets and did not receive. (went and got towels myself) Convention at hotel so no where to sit and food choices were low. Worst service was restaurant which had bad food, bad service and no resolution when I complained about both. Having said that, the hotel itself had a nice lobby and the rooms were average for the price and chain. The hallways were a little off putting as they looked industrial. The mattresses were very firm (if you like that) and when they say double, it is a full size barely. I did inform the desk (at night and again in morning) about issues I encountered and no management followed up. I would recommend the hotel as far as value for the money, room was clean although the prices were above what I expected to pay. (may have been because of the convention at the hotel) Service rated poor because of the restaurant and lack of follow up on my concerns.

« The Hotel Desk Staff and Restaurant Rocks! »

A very patient desk clerk guided us into the hotel when we were hopelessly lost, even with the GPS. We were tired and very hungry, so opted for the hotel restaurant, not knowing it was a sports bar & restaurant. The meals my friend and I had were the best we've had in a long time. The servings were more than ample. Gator's Den's meals are superb and I would always choose them when in Gainesville, Florida. The servers were attuned to our needs and the food would rank well with top-line restaurants! Great food served in a casual atmosphere.

« Gator Weekend In Gainesville »

We returned to the Best Western for our annual trip to Gainesville for the Gator O'Miss game. This hotel is convenient, friendly and well appointed. They gave us a gift back when we arrived (water etc.) and had a free reception. They always make you feel welcome and all the staff is great. They have added eggs to order for a small fee to their free breakfast menu.

    « Amazing Service! »

We have stayed at this hotel many times as we have two children in UF. Imagine our surprise when we got a room not what were expecting! We were told our only option was 2 beds, not the king size we requested. Forrest at the front desk worked very hard for us, and went out of his way to ensure we got a great room. It is people like Forrest that make staying in this hotel so special!

« Not all Grand at the "Gateway Grand" »

Avoid Room #366. The check-in was smooth, perhaps too smooth. I requested an AARP rate and was upgraded to the room from hell. I guess the desk clerk is still laughing. I frequently visit Best Western Hotels with good results. The Corporate Best Western Architectural Review team truly missed this room. ** A/C blows directly at the bed. ** TV set is located lower than the bed. ** 1st lounge chair is wedged between the wall A/C, the dresser, and the bed. The chair is not movable for TV viewing or vacuuming (witness the layer of goodies under the chair) ** 2nd lounge chair is located in the abandoned closet area. The vie to the TV is partially blocked by the Microwave/Refrig cabinet. ** Ironing board & iron are located alongside the toilet ** Bathroom electrical outlet is located within eight inches of the shower. ** Shower head plumbing required re-connection. ** Shower head will not stay in non hand held position. ** No area to place or locate your DOP kit. The list continues.... but I think you get the drift ........... avoid room #366 Also, this is a large hotel with only one elevator Think again Best Western, this is not "GRAND

We were on our way home from a trip 25 day trip that led to New York state and ended up home in Florida. Stopped at many Best Westerns along the way. We were really pleased with the Best Westerns that we stayed in.

« Excellent and clean. Worth the money. »

The room was spacious and clean. Very surprisingly quiet for a large hotel. Hotel restaurant was very good. The check in was a bit slow but it all worked out. The entire place was clean. The free breakfast had many choices. They even had a special for $3.00 for wonderful fresh omelets that were HUGE!
