I've never had to share a bedside table before. And the lamp on it was useless. Breakfast the first morning was like Fawlty Towers. Decor looking tired - many stains on the dining room chairs; cracked tiles in the end suite and very creaky floorboards. Is this hotel trying to do too many things? Hotel, meetings, weddings, tennis, petanque, croquet, spa.

Don't understand the logic of allowing children in the pool until 10pm just seems really late and should be adults only 8-10pm . Went for a ‘relaxing' swim late, full of screaming and splashing kids taking over the pool. At that time of night should be a relaxing winding down environment but wasn't at all. Weird time to be hyping up kids when they should be in bed. Some poor bloke walked in and walked straight back out. Went down for breakfast no one to be seen to sit you down- when eventually was sat down no one explained that it was part buffet but some bits you order. I had to find someone to ask what the deal was. Eventually someone took my order after 30 mins after I got their attention . Nice staff but didn't seem to have set roles so just rushing to and fro. Just seemed very disjointed. Food was fine though. Room Was nice and comfortable.

Stopped in April, liked it so much we came back in September. Staff were met were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

Very Friendly helpful Hotel we had a lovely stay,Steph went above and beyond when we had car issues,javeena was so friendly,helpful and accommodating and the young people on the bar were lovely !! Our room was spacious,clean and comfortable! Food was really nice and a very good Breakfast choice 😋!! I would recommend this hotel especially for couples !!

It's not often that I leave a hotel feeling that I have genuinely experienced it — but after spending 18 nights at Cricklade Hotel & Spa over the course of a month, across three separate stays, I can honestly say this is a hotel I would highly recommend. Having checked in and checked out three times, I had the opportunity to experience the hotel from every angle — and what impressed me most was the consistency. Every arrival was warm and welcoming, every departure was handled with the same professionalism, and throughout each stay I was made to feel genuinely valued. From the General Manager and Front Office team, to the restaurant and service teams and the wonderful housekeeping staff, everyone was friendly, helpful and professional. The housekeeping team deserve a special mention — my rooms were kept absolutely spotless, and their warmth and attention to detail never went unnoticed. Breakfast was a daily highlight, with an excellent variety of delicious choices. Dining at the hotel was equally enjoyable, with food that was beautifully presented and clearly prepared with care and pride. But what really makes Cricklade Hotel & Spa stand out is the people. There is a genuine warmth throughout the hotel that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door. As a solo traveller, I felt completely comfortable and very much at home. I would equally recommend Cricklade Hotel & Spa to couples looking for a romantic escape or families looking for somewhere welcoming and relaxing. Three stays, three check-ins, three check-outs and 18 nights later — I can honestly say I would return without hesitation. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for making each of my stays so enjoyable. Your warmth, professionalism and attention to detail made a lasting impression. We had a lovely anniversary meal here- made even more special by the service we received. Thank you Geneena, Joe and Grace for making our night special and enabling us to have expresso martinis! We had a Lovely evening :-)

Beautiful venue, ample parking, amazing staff and the restaurant food was incredible. The chef clearly has a passion for creating delicious food, and was able to cater for our dietary requirements (coeliac, dairy free, alcohol free). Although the bar doesn't have a mocktail menu, we discovered that they are very good at making mocktails on request. We can recommend the virgin mojito! Our visit was to attend a wedding held at the venue. The ceremony was held outside in The Secret Garden. This is a lovely intimate space. There are a few steps down to access it, and no handrail. I was able to manage using my crutches, and staff stowed my wheelchair, and brought it back at the end. ACCESSIBILITY My daughter and I stayed in one of the two accessible rooms (no 27). I was in a manual wheelchair, and am ambulatory for short distances. The room was on the ground floor and had ample space for my wheelchair, rollator, and all our other bits and bobs. The corridor access to the room has an awkward dog leg which was just about manageable in my manual wheelchair. I don't think a power chair would be able to make the turn. Likewise a mobility scooter would definitely not fit. Disabled facilities here were great for my needs. There was a small lip to go into the walk in shower, about 2 inches. There were several handrails, as well as a fold down shower seat. There were two fold down handrails for the toilet, but no space to the side if you need to transfer from a wheelchair. In the main area of the hotel is a generous accessible toilet, with ample room to transfer from a wheelchair, and no bins in silly places. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A previous review mentioned an issue with the ramp leading from the bar to the conservatory, however throughout our stay the ramp was permanently in situ. The conservatory has an amazing view, and there's a lovely outdoor patio. There is a small lip to get outside. Access to the pool and spa is down some stairs with no lift, so I can't comment on those facilities, however I did notice one treatment room on the ground floor and I suspect you could book a treatment in there if you specifically requested it.

Beautiful place to stay with a stunning view. Incredible hospitality especially from Geveena. She was especially lovely and very helpful before i could even ask. My only reason this isn't a 5 star is because the carpet of my room when i first checked in it was very dirty to the point i didn't want to walk on the floor bare foot. Other than that i would definitely stay again.

We had our wedding anniversary dinner at the Cricklade House Hotel. Geveena was our waitress and she looked after us exceptionally well. Highly commended service as was the food.

Few places have such exceptional service, everyone couldn't have done more for us. Particular thank you to Geveena for making us feel so welcome.

Stunning location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Well appointed wheelchair accessible room. Bathroom with shower and seat. Large fan in room. Everywhere was very clean and well kept. Great value for money. Only downside swimming pool and outside areas were not accessible for wheelchair users. Very limited stepfree access.

Just wanted to say how lovely the staff were at this hotel!! Special mention to Tilly so sweet and kind, friendly lovely manner Caden could do enough for me, lovely friendly and kind Joe patient and kind and willing to go the extra mile. I was here on business and people like these are a rarity they care and have an impeccable disposition. Nice food, friendly staff. Pet friendly rooms could do with a deep clean, especially the carpets. Food lovely and restaurant staff work hard to please guests. Location is good if you are looking for a peaceful place to stay. Private functions mean that you cant use certain parts of the property which is inconvenient but understandable that this is part of the hotel business. Overall its a nice place to stay, but staff do need training on the billing systems as on both of the times we've stayed here the receptionist tried to charge us for additional expenses when we checked out. If staying, make sure you can show what you've spent to avoid this.

Very dissapointing stay, hotel is tired and in need of an update. Staff friendly enough although forgot our drinks at dinner. Tv in room didnt work and wifi kept cutting ou. Flush in room intermitent as well as low water pressure. No welcome info in room. We reported tv issue to be told we could only watch certain channels alrhough this didnt work so gave up after they had checked it twice. Noisey doors so woken by banging everytime someone entered a room. Food ok but limited menu. Breakfast good although forgotton by staff when we asked for things. The only plus side lovely views and pool.

Booked a birthday party and it was amazing. 60 guests. Food was delicious, staff outstanding, venue beautiful, rooms lovely and beds very comfortable. I would highly recommend for any event, weddings, birthdays etc. As one family member said - you couldn't fault anything. So pleased we had our celebrations here.

The staff spread malicious communication to guests employers. Stay well away from this dangerous business and especially the barman who can turn violent when challenged.

We recently stayed at this hotel and had a lovely time overall. The food was excellent, and the setting is absolutely beautiful, making it a relaxing place to visit. Unfortunately, what lets the hotel down is its overall condition. It is in desperate need of some TLC. The rooms and communal areas feel tired and dated, and the whole hotel would benefit from being gutted and redecorated. A much more thorough standard of cleaning throughout the hotel would also make a significant difference. It's clear this hotel has so much potential. If Best Western invested in renovating and restoring it to the standard it once was, it could once again become an amazing hotel and spa. The location and facilities deserve it.

Very nice place on the whole. Staff extremely friendly, kind and helpful, Geveena made sure we were well looked after at mealtimes (thank you 😊) and the staff were visible so that we were never kept waiting Our stay coincided with a particularly hot spell of weather, and the broken fan in our room was quickly changed (again, thank you). Sadly there is no air con anywhere, apart from one small unit in the conservatory that proved inadequate for the high temperatures outdoors. WiFi was very hit and miss to the point that I was unable to participate in an online meeting, and my phone had to be on the table in the bedroom otherwise there was no signal Room decor was a little tired, but the room itself was a very good size and everything worked as it should It was a pleasant stayWe would love to make a return visit in slightly cooler weather!

Stayed here for a 70th birthday celebration. On arrival, everything looked impressive and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, this is where the experience started to decline. I had booked one of the hotel's more expensive rooms with a balcony. While the room itself was comfortable, the balcony overlooked a run-down tennis court, which was disappointing. The room also had no air conditioning, making it uncomfortable during the hot weather. The bar was where the hotel was most let down by management. I ordered a glass of wine which was served warm. When I asked for ice, I was told they had run out. This was in the middle of the afternoon, and the bar staff commented that it happened regularly. On a very hot day, serving drinks without ice is simply not acceptable, especially given the premium prices being charged. Breakfast was also underwhelming. I found myself searching through the bacon and sausages to find pieces that were properly cooked, and items such as hash browns ran out and were not replenished promptly. I have certainly experienced much better breakfasts elsewhere. The hotel as a whole feels very dated and is in need of a significant refurbishment. The staff were friendly throughout my stay, but none of the bar staff appeared to know how to make the cocktails listed on the menu, despite there being an extensive cocktail selection available. Overall, for the price paid, the experience did not meet my expectations. The only standout feature was the stunning view. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Wow! What a let down! Came here for food for our anniversary. We asked for a bottle of wine which came out warm so we had to ask for ice to try to cool it down. I ordered a Super Salad (veg option) husband ordered a steak. I had a chicken salad come out. Said it wasn't mine I'm a veggie the young lad didn't understand veggies don't eat chicken. Went back to the kitchen came straight back with same salad minus chicken and said chef put fresh toppings on (I do not belive that for a minute it was way too quick!) Anyway they bought my husbands steak out and said they would get a steak knife. We sat there with no cutlery for arounf 5 minutes or so until I got up and took some from a table inside. When I had previously ssked for ice for my wine I af asked for another bottle of still water. And to my surprise when I poured it low amd behold it was sparkling! Faulty towers don't have a patch on this place!!!! 😂

​We recently dined at the Cricklade House Hotel and had a wonderful time. The food was absolutely delicious, and the environment was lovely and welcoming. A special shoutout to our waiter, Ollie, who was just brilliant and made our evening extra memorable. We will definitely be back!

The rooms are very pleasant, as is the condition of the hotel. The hotel and restaurant staff are very helpful, particularly Geneeva, who is always smiling and knows how to anticipate our needs.

We have stayed here several times before and find it very good value for a 2 night break. The pool area is not very big but very nice, well kept and clean. We had breakfast and dinner both days and all was very good with a good choice. The staff were exceptionally friendly, polite and helpful, of note were Shannon, M, Jess, Victoria and Callum, but all the staff that we encountered from arrival to leaving were very good. Only negative was a very slight smell of smoking in our room(44), which was probably because it was overlooking the smokers hut opposite the room. All in all another very good stay at this hotel, and would certainly go back again.

We really enjoyed a brilliant 4 night break at this hotel. Upon approach the exterior of the hotel seems a little underwhelming, but it really isn't once you get inside. The ambience in the spacious, high ceilinged common areas is perfect - relaxed, unstuffy, comfortable - and spotless. A really nice conservatory offered comfortable sofas and a place to dine while enjoying the fantastic countryside view. Great credit needs to go to the people who work there. Without exception the staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a large, comfortable room which included an ensuite, balcony and sofa. Not the most ultra-modern in style and the bathroom will need a refresh before too long, but pretty much immaculately presented with everything you need and again absolutely spotless. We used the pool every day and thought it was perfect; not busy, large enough for anyone to have a decent swim or to just relax and float around, with sauna etc. Foodwise, a decent buffet style breakfast with freshly made options available (eg poached/scrambled eggs) and a good range of food offerings for the evening - at reasonable prices too. Rhubarb crumble was just epic. We met two of the excellent managers there who obviously strive to make sure all is as perfect as possible. In this, they succeed! We will certainly revisit this place.

Beautiful location, super attentive efficient and friendly staff, especially Gevenna at breakfast, and the reception and evening staff. We had booked a superior room which was spacious, clean and quiet. It came with a kitchenette area which was really useful.We had both breakfast and evening meal which was tasty and of good quality. We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The pool and facilities were excellent. Enjoyed all our meals there. We were a party of four but were travelling with three dogs which made accommodating us difficult. In the evening the Catering manager Elliot always made sure everything was laid on for us, we could not have asked for a better service. Callum was also there to help on both occasions we ate at the hotel in the evening and for breakfast. Geveena and Gina made sure that us and the dogs were settled each morning. I would say that all the staff gave us a first class service certain enough to visit again.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Our room was comfortable. Breakfast and lunch on the terrace in the sunshine was wonderful and the gluten free bread was delicious. Thanks to everyone for looking after us especially Geveena in the restaurant. We had a wonderful stay and definitely recommend.

A wonderful experience on our second visit. We first came here 2 years ago and are really pleased that it is the same welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with very nice food. We love the beautiful setting and excellent facilities, with a great pool at a family friendly temperature. Being able to take it in turns in the steam room or sauna right next to the pool ensured we didn't miss out on relaxation as well. The staff are all really kind, in particular Geveena was excellent at taking care of our children's needs, a nice touch. We will go back.

Excellent service from arrival to departure. We had large lovely room with great views and was allowed to take our dog in with us. A lot of places only give you the small modest rooms if you take a dog. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our border collie was completely spoilt, given a bed to lie on when we ate, water bowl, treats and lots of fuss which she loved and with wonderful grounds for to run in she was a happy dog.Nothing was too much trouble, Shannon,Joana, Ollie, Geveena, Victoria and all the others are a credit to Cricklade and if we are back in the area we will definitely rebook. Thanks for making our stay a great one 😊

Lovely hotel great service from the staff Geveena was superb and very helpful at all times 🙏 Need a full length mirror in room that was missing and some kind of wardrobe hanging on the wall on a rack not ideal … we enjoyed otherwise our stay… also my toilet the window was to big and the fan is not good and opening the window I was on display specially when having a shower .. also our room is on the car park and difficult to get change in the dark as when opening the windows everybody could see me !!

Every staff member we interacted with were friendly and helpful. From the housekeeper, receptionist and all the waiting / bar staff. Just got back from spending a 2 night break at this lovely hotel. Very picturesque setting. Used the pool and steam/sauna which was a nice bonus. The staff here are the friendliest that I come across in a while. I must shout out Geveena who looked after us so well at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and her professionalism, charm and smile were a credit to the hotel. Look forward to staying here again.

We spent a week at the hotel in a superior room in the main house. We would definitely go again. There are definitely pros and cons. This doesn't pretend to be a modern chain hotel. It retains a lot of its older character but still very comfy. We didn't have individual toiletries, or a safe deposit box or a traditional wardrobe but there was a quality wall soap dispenser and plenty of hanging space. The whole hotel and grounds are kept immaculate. As someone who is allergic to dogs I was a little concerned that this is a dog friendly hotel but I need not have worried. It seems that the courtyard rooms are the maindog friendly rooms and the dogs we came across were very well controlled and not intrusive. We cannot speak too highly of the staff. We found the watresses, Shannon, Sarah and Geveena very friendy with Geveena showing a real interest in how we were enjoyed our break. A highlight for us was the swimming pool which is lovely and warm, very well presented and very quiet around 4 p.m. Also the breakfast and dinner were of high quality with hot food, a good selection and well presented. Location wise, the hotel is within striking distance of the main cotswold tourist spots but we particularly enjoyed quiet walks around the lakes using the Waterhay car park. There is constant birdsong from a very wide variety of species. Very healing. We were blessed with a lovely sunny week.

What a stay! Food was delicious and the view was spectacular. The staff went out of their way to help. My wife and I found every single person "going the extra mile" without complaint. One example was Shannon. She always carried a smile. During our dining she was a true servant asking with a genuine heart if there was anything she could get for us. She truly set the tone for our relaxed and enjoyable dining.

Currently staying at this hotel and felt I had to write a review now before I got home and forgot. The staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. The grounds and the views are so beautiful. The cream tea was so delicious!! The dinner menu was perfect, the ambiance in the restaurant was ideal, and the restaurant staff gave such good service. Couldn't fault the pool area - so relaxing! And we played tennis and Discgolf free of charge which was lots of fun. The room was standard - what you'd expect from the price. We would definitely come here again and would really love to stress just how friendly and helpful every single member of staff was!

My wife and I spent a couple of nights here. Hotel is generally very good, a small negative is that some areas could do with a bit of a freshen up, as they are getting a bit tired. The staff are all very friendly, in particular Geveena, who was most charming.

Amazing staff that were welcoming and very friendly, the rooms were very spacious and had an overall wonderful time the spa as well was very nice! Went during the Easter period and made an effort to include everyone. They made an Easter hunt for the children!! Definetly would recommend!

We had a lovely stay at the Cricklade Hotel and really enjoyed our time there as a family. The facilities were great—especially the pool, which the girls absolutely loved. There were also some really nice touches over the Easter weekend, including an Easter egg hunt, which made the stay even more special. We also had fun playing disc golf, which was a great activity to do together and added to the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff were all very welcoming, but a special mention has to go to Destiny on reception, who was so attentive to my girls and made us feel really comfortable throughout our stay. Geneeva at breakfast on our last morning was also amazing—her experience really showed in the level of service she provided. We will be visiting again.

The hotel and staff are just a delight. I was here in the late 90s. I wanted to return to the Cotswolds and remembered a lovely stay. I thought it would likely be run down and disappointing, like many hotels in the UK have become. I was surprised to see a fresh decor, clean and tidy throughout, with happy staff. The pool is warm and clean, with a beautiful view. The rook had everything we needed, with comfortable beds. The conservatory was pretty at night, with fairy lights and we enjoyed a drink with a game we'd brought with us. Breakfast was exceptional - everything cooked fresh, including lots of pastries, again with the view to accompany us, and happy staff. It's so important to me to be served by, and see and hear staff that are working happy. A business that treats their staff well is one I want to support. We'll definitely be back soon.

Excellent stay in a very nice hotel. Large rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful breakfast in the conservatory with views over the extensive grounds. Pleasantly warm leisure pool, with a steam room and sauna. Large towels and dressing robes. Small criticisms about awkward old blinds, and blown small window panes show that it could do with a little TLC, but overall a very pleasant stay

Really lovely, relaxing stay at the hotel. Warm and welcoming on arrival, and staff friendly and helpful through out. Pool and sauna great, and lovely and warm. Food was good, tasty evening meal, and really lovely cakes for the afternoon tea. Enjoyed a couple of nights away with a friend, relaxed in the bar, and the conservatory has great views across countryside. Bed was very comfortable, and bedroom in main house really pretty. Would definitely recommend.

I have been staying at Cricklade weekly for the last 18 months and it's been an incredible place to spend my time during my travel. The staff are exceptional, everyone is incredibly kind and useful (especially Geveena - she has looked after me so well every time I'm at the hotel, going above and beyond to make sure that I'm happy). I would highly recommend staying at Cricklade - the food, service and amenities are perfect!

Charming friendly hotel in beautiful surroundings

This was an excellent choice of hotel for exploring the Cotswolds. Beautiful situation in peaceful countryside with lovely views. The hotel is nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly and very helpful, and the breakfast 10/10. The spa facilities are superb - a state of the art gym, excellent changing facilities, a sauna, a steam room and a beautiful warm swimming pool. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food. We had especially returned to Cricklade house to celebrate our anniversary, having married here 9 years ago. The main course was satisfactory ( fish and chips/ steak and chips) but the desserts were both poor. The rhubarb crumble was crunchy rather than crumbly. The creme brûlée was described as being delivered warm with an almond and pistachio wafer however the reality was a very small cold brûlée with a rock hard biscuit. We did say to the server that we were very dissatisfied with the brûlée especially- response was a giggle and ‘ I've told the chef' Don't think we'll do a return visit next anniversary

A delightful country boutique hotel and spa in a stunning environment. On the border of the Cotswolds but near the source of the River Thames and extensive wetlands Highly recommended.

Up from S Devon for 2 nights 241 B&B booked last year within Black Friday Club offer, therefore excellent value. Venue fine, staff friendly & efficient, our room Room 1 bland but fine, WIFI sporadic and annoying. Dining area lovely but the dreaded 'Buffet Breakfast' dry and average hindered by needing to use small cold plates for hot food. Not good. Other than this ongoing annoyance, all fine.

We had a lovely time with our family, swimming and dinner in the restaurant where we were served by Geveena who was extremely friendly and attentive.

Return stay we stayed back in the summer so booked for the night, as before lovely clean room comfortable bed had a good nights sleep housekeeping friendly as always especially the lady called Kayla I got her name this time she was amazing.the hotel itself is a beautiful place set on top of a hill the views are beautiful the location is set back .just outside a lovely town will definitely return. The breakfast okay service okay one of the cleanest three star hotels we've stayed at hopefully return in the summer.

Daughters brought us a couple of nights away as our Xmas present, with an ulterior motive… mum & dad gone for New Year (small house party). A courtyard room, spacious & clean. Dinner on our first night was excellent & New Year's Eve dinner was exceptional, & hot! Staff polite & attentive. Will definitely be back again, maybe in the summer months to take advantage of the fabulous outside space.

We stayed here for 2 nights to be able to relax and use the facilities. The room was quiet, the bed comfortable, the staff was lovely and our lunch was nice. The price we paid for the 2 nights stay, we thought it was quite a bit fr breakfast not to be included, £280 for 2 nights plus an extra £15 per day per person for breakfast. Lovely location, stunning building and over all the stay was good and we did relax however there were a few minor things that could be improved. Attention to detail!!!! We had lunch as room service, our food did not come with any condiments and having chips as part of our meal, some salt, pepper and some sauces would have been great. The WiFi was poor, which was frustrating as we booked to have a lazy weekend in and not being able to watch much was annoying as the tv had all the TV apps you could sign into. The spa facilities were OK, however dated and really could do with some TLC. It was not cleaned through out the day, we used it in the morning and the evening and come the evening, dirty towels were over flowing, rubbish in the changing rooms and hair all on the shower the floors and steam room floors. We appreciate it was the end of the day but a quick tidy up half way through the day would make it a lot better, again attention to detail makes all the difference. The hotel room was basic and could have done with some printed out menus for room service and a guide on how to order room service etc, some bottled water, again attention to detail that doesn't really cost a lot. A few improvments, a rethink on how breakfast CAN be included and attention to detail and this hotel would be perfect for the price paid. Unfortunately we wouldnt stay here again, the staff however were all very lovely.

I stayed at Cricklade Hotel & Spa from 28-30 October 2025 during school half-term with my family, hoping for a relaxing break. Instead, I experienced one of the worst hotel stays of my life. Undisclosed Pool Restrictions: I booked specifically for family pool access during school holidays. However, children are prohibited from using the pool from 6–9 am and 12–3 pm daily. (Possibly other times too, but we were affected at these times). This was NEVER disclosed during booking or in my confirmation email (despite the hotel's claims otherwise). I have the confirmation email to prove it. We were turned away twice after getting ready to swim. For families paying premium school holiday rates, these significant restrictions must be disclosed upfront. Verbal Abuse & Dismissive Management: Another hotel patron verbally abused me for approximately 5-10 minutes. This individual stood over me in an intimidating manner while I was seated, swore at me, and made obscene gestures. The incident was entirely unprovoked. When I reported this to hotel management, I received a dismissive response from the General Manager, rather than an apology. Hotel staff said the CCTV showed nothing, despite a camera positioned directly above the incident. Maintenance Issues: Our room had a non-functioning kettle requiring multiple follow-ups. Complete Communication Failure and GDPR violations: After my stay, I sent a detailed formal complaint. Despite several follow-up emails, I received ZERO responses from hotel management. Complete silence. Instead of responding to me, they emailed someone else in our group who was staying at the venue. This was a clear violation of GDPR. I never authorised them to share my complaint with anyone else. I booked and paid for my own room for my own family; this person had no involvement in my booking whatsoever. Yet the hotel disclosed my personal complaint and my details to him. To date, they have responded only to this person, never to me directly. I eventually escalated to the CEO of the parent company (Purico Limited). The CEO referred it to his legal counsel. Three weeks later, after a couple of interactions with their legal counsel, he (legal counsel) responded, not to apologise or offer a resolution, but to deny everything and refuse a refund. What Could Have Made a Difference: If management had simply apologised, acknowledged the issues, and shown any empathy, I would have felt differently. Instead, they were defensive, dismissive, and completely unresponsive. The Property vs. The Management: It's frustrating because the hotel and grounds are genuinely beautiful with great potential. The property deserves better management and policies. Bottom Line: I came for relaxation and left feeling stressed, disrespected, and disappointed. My holiday was ruined. When problems occur at this hotel, expect dismissive responses and complete silence rather than professional customer service. I cannot recommend this hotel to families or anyone expecting basic hospitality standards.

Booked in for a spa day with friends.Beautiful massage,all three of us thought it one of the best we have had.The package included 2 hours of pool time,where loungers were reserved for us,a lovely lunch with a glass of wine,we ended up sitting in a wonderful lounge area infront of a real fire in our robes,our lovely waiter lit the fire and looked after us perfectly,thankyou for such a lovely day.The spa was spotlessly clean and very friendly.We will return.

Having read some of the reviews I was feeling a bit apprehensive about our visit for a couple of days. Well all I can say is that I am here now and having experienced a wonderful meal last night to a good nights sleep in a really comfortable bed to a lovely breakfast and a swim in the pool I can't believe the negative comments. The bar has a roaring fire and the drinks are well priced for a hotel. No complaints at all and we are really fussy. The staff a lovely and really helpful with information on things to do in the area. A special mention to Shannon and Elliott in the bar and Destiny on reception who couldn't be more welcoming! Well done to the team and will return soon 😊

We were staying for a family occasion and we were extremely happy with the hotel. In particular, all the staff were charming and very helpful and the food was high quality and very tasty. My only minor point was that the room was a little dated, but the price point is very good, so i wouldn't really expect much more for that price. Overall, very good experience, great value and would highly recommend

I can forgive many short commings, but not bad breakfast. It cost £15 but you still had to pay extra for baked beans and hash browns. What has this country come to when a £15 breakfast does not include either hash browns or baked beans.

Certainly not 4 star quality,hotel all very tired , cleaning below standard one would expect,especially the bathroom,toilet only cleaned where you could see the back was grim.The room was spacious but in need of refurbishment, Plastic tumblers used in both bathroom and on tea tray,and not even replaced each day.Restaurant menu was limited every day the same, However the restaurant staff were polite and helpful.

Terrible. Tired and dated. Stayed in the Fox Room/Suite. Dreadful decor, Tiny bed, weird 80s corner bath in the bedroom- only 1 hand/hair towel - thin disposable plastic water cups in bathroom - absolutely no frills at all. No assistance at check in with bags - actually had to wait 10 mins for receptionist to appear. Dinner very sad - not much choice - had the steak - chips overcooked - no fresh veg on offer - only 2 choices of red wine and 2 choices of white wine. Asked for lemon slices for my water which never arrived. Most definitely not a treat. Had spa treatments in the morning which were the highlight of the stay- therapist was lovely. Last treatment finished at 12 so I requested late check out at time of booking. Instead we were telephoned at 11.45 and told to leave the room despite my husband still having his treatment. And was charged a late check out fee!!! Man on reception dismissive and to be honest clueless. Tried to overcharge us at check out for dinner charges which I had to point out. £310 for dinner, bed and breakfast- not worth it at all. I have no idea how places like this remain in business - I would rather camp in a tent than waste my money coming back here.

Just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. On first impressions when we arrived at reception the member of staff was sitting there eating and not paying attention to guests on arrival. We went to our room 35, a superior spa room which which was scruffy with damaged furniture, and a stained carpet and were very underwhelmed. We were offered room 29 which was much better and had a lovely view, although limited storage space. We used the spa which was fine. The evening meal was presented nicely for both starter and main. Staff pleasant and our anniversary had been noted, receiving a celebration desert which was a nice surprise. Breakfast was disappointing and the cooked breakfast had no real flavour, the fruit juices were watered down. The complete opposite to our evening meal. We also had a workman on the conservatory roof outside our bedroom window at 9.30am giving us no privacy before we vacated the hotel. I would struggle to give this hotel a 4 star rating based on previous experiences in 4 star properties. Certain areas looked tired and in need of decorating.

Booked a couple of days here for our wedding anniversary , very attentive staff ,lovely surroundings , food was very good ,excellent breakfast , and of course a great place to explore the villages and hamlets of the Cotswolds . Our room was large and spacious ,very comfortable , top marks to the chef , dinners were spot on ,and a special mention for Deryl and Geveena who were great hosts . No major issues.......... although a dripping tap in our bathroom was reported to staff on departure ....and of course i must mention a double Glenmorangie scotch at £32....was a spoiler !!

This was a 3 day weekend away for us. We had a great time and enjoyed using the leisure facilities. We wanted to book massages but the times didn't fit well with our walking schedules. Lots going on on the hotel. Staff were very friendly too. Be aware that some gins cost much more than others if having a gins and tonic. We went for the a la carte menu but found it quite mediocre and I felt I could have done better at home. So stick to the bar menu. Breakfast was ok with some nice egg dishes on offer. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The bed very comfortable. Decor mid 90s in the bedroom and carpet in the bar area quite tired. A pleasant stay and we might even bring our child along too another time as do much to at the hotel and around.

Lovely hotel surrounded by beautiful countryside! Stayed in the courtyard. Room very spacious and beautifully decorated. Bathroom needed updating. Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice - sat in the conservatory with beautiful views. Staff very friendly. Used the swimming pool steam room and spa. Really good experience.

I booked a deluxe room at Cricklade House Hotel & Spa (Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western) for a special family birthday weekend, spending £450 for two nights. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing and not what I expected from a four-star property. The hotel itself feels old and in need of investment. The room had no air conditioning and no slippers, which I would consider basic amenities in a deluxe room. On a hot day, the room temperature exceeded 35°C, and when I raised this with staff, I was told “that's what we have.” After pressing further, I was reluctantly offered a fan that never arrived. The overall cleaning and facilities leave much to be desired, and the standards do not match the advertised quality. What made matters worse was the rude and dismissive attitude of the manager on duty who told me directly, “I don't care” when I asked to escalate my concerns. This level of unprofessionalism is shocking and not what I expect from any hotel, let alone one marketed as four-star. This stay left my family and me feeling very let down, especially as it was meant to be a celebratory weekend. Unless management makes significant improvements in both customer service and hotel standards, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Kitchenette room 5 was a disappointment, don't even leave you proper cutlery we had cheap wooden knife & fork and only 1 wooden plate considering there was 2 of us! The decor is tired, and the bed well was soooo uncomfortable we both ached in the morning, feeling the springs in our bodies so what was supposed to be a nice relaxed night away we came home feeling battered!! Definitely nowhere near a 4 star id say 2 and will not be staying again. The bar we was asked if wanted ice in our drinks which we said yes to then the bar men discussing between each other what songs were playing and then we got given just 2 chilled glasses which did absolutely nothing soon as we poured our cokes in with zero ice offered, madness . The pool had sooo much chlorine in and was all only 1.2metres deepth making it not the most nicest trying to swim. Yea wont be wasting my time ever returning. Was definitely not worth £185 a night.

Mixed bag for us on this hotel. Has a great deal of potential but just missing the mark. Room was lovely, spacious and a great view. Housekeeping poor, I spilled a drink on the sheets but they were not changed. Very poor! Bar, amazing cocktails. Very moorish! Food, good effort but missed the mark, for a hotel with this potential it should have better food. Things on the menu that are not available. Same soup over numerous nights. Presentation poor. Breakfast, brags about quality of ingredients but cooked breakfast was very cold. Not a great choice. Staff, in the main VERY good, especially Morgan, our waiter, very professional and when training someone was gentle to show things. Reception staff on our arrival were lovely but afternoon team were disappointing. I took some towels to be exchanged and got a very sarcastic response that they would now have to put them in the towel bin in the spa, quite rude actually. Think it would be good if they did not have someone working on a computer in reception as numerous customers asked for help and got snapped at and told to go to the other team members (afternoon) Overall we would stay again but eat out. Like I said has so much potential. Currently staying in a holiday inn tonight and standard is higher so goes to show a little effort goes a long way. Feel for the staff as they work very hard but obviously the budget has been cut back so budget it's very much a budget hotel

Was coming to Cricklade to visit relatives needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights came across this hotel set back on top of a hill beautiful views we booked a room outside it had a kitchenette it was spotless the bed was comfy the housekeeping staff were lovely and so friendly and so acknowledgeable about the hotel and area .we didn't eat at the hotel as we were going out to visit relatives so going out to eat so I can't comment on food drinks were a bit expensive but it's hotel that's what you'd expect we were sorry to leave , but we shall definitely be coming back very friendly staff makes you feel welcome they are a credit to the hotel .

The best thing about the evening was the view. The servers didn't know the menu and were unskilled in basic server etiquette. EG don't put someone's dirty glasses on our table. The food was very average . Starters were bland except the goats cheese. Pork main was very tough but the fish main was good . My sorbet came melted in a bowel but the key lime pie was good. Lastly, if you are a ‘restaurant' please have more than 2 bottles of white wine on the wine list. Over priced for poor quality.

What a gem of a hotel set in beautiful grounds in the Cotswolds On arrival staff were welcoming and friendly we had a lovely room in the courtyard lovely decoration comfortable bed nice bathroom tea making facility and large flat screen tv Nice bar area and conservatory good swimming pool sauna and steam room Breakfast was excellent All staff we met were friendly and professional We had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning

A good weekend. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was clean as was all areas of the hotel. Food was of a good quality. Plenty to do in the grounds. The only downside was the bar prices were high.

We went as an extended family, parents, children and grandparents and had a great time. The young children relished their own room within a family room. The swimming pool was great for us all, space for a fitness swim, shallow enough for the young children to experiment and learn new skills. Bar meals are filling, salmon and tagliatelle is splendid, the burger huge and filling. Garden rooms are spacious. If you have young children ask for a family room - eg 26. The tennis court is no longer pristine - unlike the photograph! Snooker table is fantastic.

I booked afternoon tea for three. I mentioned at the time of booking that it was for my mother's birthday, she is in a wheelchair, and we would like to sit in the conservatory to get the nice views over the countryside. On arrival there was no one to greet us in the restaurant/bar area and we had to wait over 5 minutes for a member of staff to turn up. When she did, I said that we'd asked to sit in the conservatory and I expected that she would get a ramp for the big step down. Instead, she said that they didn't have a wheelchair ramp as the manager had hidden it!! So we could sit in the restaurant or we could get my mother and her wheelchair down the step as best we could. The restaurant was empty and cold-looking, the conservatory nice and sunny and welcoming (albeit not to disabled customers). My mother is a determined lady, and we managed to get her down the step (getting her back up later was much harder). At last we were at our table in the sun with lovely views, and tea arrived. We had a choice of different tea varieties and then they brought the three-tiered cake plate. It was very well presented and we enjoyed the food. There were mini sandwiches - cucumber and cream cheese, ham, smoked salmon rolls - three different types of cake and two big scones each with jam and clotted cream. The scones defeated us and the very nice waiter packed them up in foil for us to take home. More tea was available on request. I thought the tea was excellent, and, after the initial delay, so too was the service. However I find it difficult to understand why a hotel that has a big step down to the conservatory - a key sitting area - does not have a wheelchair ramp. Especially when I mentioned at booking that they will have a guest in a wheelchair!

I got a deal for an overnight stay and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio enjoying the excellent view. The staff were good, particularly Emma in the restaurant in the evening. It's clear that she cares about doing a good job; and the guy in the bar who was singing terribly but showed good customer service anyway. Other staff were also helpful. The food was nice - great cheese omelette and sirloin steak, huge chunky fries. Clean, comfortable bedroom, only cleanliness issue was the changing room floor but everywhere else very clean. I didn't realise there was a gym and a snooker room. It was nice to get a free newspaper too. All in all, I really enjoyed it, and most importantly, I'll be going back. In fact, it seemed like there were a few regulars.

Negatives It needs some maintenance Stayed in Superior Garden Room 2 and on initial sight it looked ok v large double bed and one single bed and large room No bottled water Broken courtesy biscuits And then to the shower - It produced a mere trickle And that was saying something There was just no water pressure at all in fact v little water I told reception who was polite and she said she would tell Zoe the Manager Went and had a bar meal chic Cesar salad was nice and the 5 chunky chips were tasty a few more would have made them worth the money We went for a swim - changing rooms v run down and grotty, steam room not working and hot tub ok but tired. The pool wasn't particularly warm - it wasn't quite the SPA I was expecting !! Bed was not v Comfy felt v worn out Next morning still no water ended up washing hair over the sink !!!! Breakfast was ok - coffee was too strong and cold - staff were friendly On leaving I told reception again there was no water for having a shower still. She agreed to take breakfast off the bill. Seemed surprised I wanted both breakfasts removed but did so for the lack of water. Works I stay here again No sadly as location is stunning but our room and pool needed upgrading

I stayed here attending an event in the hotel and did not get out at all. I was not tempted to do so either. Staff were without exception friendly and helpful. Room clean warm and comfy. Food was excellent and overall the stay was good value.

My husband and i stayed at this hotel last month as a birthday treat.(September). On booking in, i was disappointed that the swimming pool and hot tub were unavailable due to a boiler breakdown. I mentioned this at reception the first evening of our stay. The next morning, they upgraded us to a first class room which was absolutely delightful, a beautiful view and a four poster bed, and to our astonishment, that evening after our meal, we were approached and told that the meal was with compliments of the hotel. They certainly made up for being unable to use the swimming pool, which was available to use by the Tuesday afternoon anyway. The staff could not have been friendlier, nothing was too much trouble and the food was great. Highly recommended.

Just got home from a perfect stay at this hotel. Room and decor were excellent, staff were top class and food and facilities are excellent. Will definitely use the pool next time. Have just booked for a stay over the Easter weekend and we cannot wait

Booked a Dinner B&B break expecting to stay in a country house hotel. Looked beautiful on arrival, long driveway, beautiful main building inside and out. So far so good. We were allocated Room 8. This was not in the main building but across the car park in what is called a courtyard, which was a small square surrounded by doors, our only outlook was of walls and doors. The lack of light made the room dark and depressing. There were curtains and a blackout roller blind. No nets, so people walking by the only window could look straight in. If you pulled either the curtains or blind you were in the dark. The bathroom is of a type last seen in the early 70's with o a shower curtain rail seen in hospitals. It was desperately requiring a total refurb. Shabby in the extreme. The carpet in the room was absolutely filthy with spill marks. The kettle perched on the chest of drawers had a cable so short it would not reach the only plug socket on the adjacent walls. The plus points of the hotel are the restaurant, the food served there was delicious and the staff are all lovely. The grounds, whilst extensive, are given over to golf courses, so very little space to walk unless, like we did, you walk down the driveway and back. Fantastic views from the terrace behind the restaurant. Would only stay again if guaranteed a room in the main house. The courtyard room we had was not worth the money at all, dreadful. Great place to go for dinner though. Spoke to the receptionist as we left regarding the state of the room and she advised there is intention to refurbish these rooms soon, one can only hope that happens.

Lovely location with stunning views, even in the pouring rain. Great and helpful staff who are stretched to the max when busy but still smile and do their best to accommodate and help. Rooms okay, some in progress of being updated and some better than others. Beds on small side. Food very good although limited if staying for multiple nights. Would be nice to have more variety on cooked breakfast like veg option. Bar could do with more selection of beers and ales. Obviously work in progress to bring up to spec but for the price and service very good. Totally forgot about the pool and other facilities and feel these should be advertised more to guests! Will stay again if in area.

Only able to stay one night, but enjoyed a delicious dinner and exceptional breakfast. Hotel under a minor(?) redevelopment, but no impact on the guests. One slight issue - delivery lorry arrived before 7am and there was considerable banging and crashing below our room overlooking the front entrance

We were bowled over by the fabulous staff, clean and beautiful rooms (my bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud) gorgeous grounds which were nice to walk round after an evening meal. Our food was delicious and the whole atmosphere was great. We were a party of six with a little dog and we were all treated so well (including Benji - he was treated like a little prince) Thank you to the fantastic staff that really made the place.

Friendly staff, good food, easy parking, in a beautiful setting. Excellent for a bit of quiet relaxation. My only gripe: swimming pool showers in men's room could do with privacy curtains - not too much to ask!

Impressed immediately by the approach from the main gate. Inside was full of character, large conservatory area and patio with lovely views southwards across Wiltshire. Bedroom spacious with a little entrance hall, lovely chairs and was decorated tastefully. Sizeable bathroom with bath tub.

The bed was hard and lumpy. The receptionist did put a topper on it for me but it wasn't a proper topper it was just like a thin Duvet. I did double up the main duvet as well to sleep on and used a blanket, but still could feel the hard lumpy bed. Such a pity as this is a lovely hotel with great food.

We spent one night here while visiting relatives. The hotel itself was very nice, in a good location and the room was roomy and comfortable. It was let down by the food and I suspect a shortage of staff. The evening meal was what was called Nouvelle Cuisine - arranged as a work of art but with very little substance. I had the lamb rump which appeared as a small pile in the centre of the plate. Removing the meat from the top of the pile revealed two very small potatoes cut in half with a sprig of Broccoli and a spring onion. My wife had the chicken escalope which was accompanied by four marble sized tomatoes and four small balls of some kind stuffing arranged symmetrically around the plate. We sat down to eat at 6.45 pm and left at 8.45pm most of the time being taken up by waiting for service. Breakfast was more substancial but every guest had to queue for entry while the two staff cleared a table and served the other guests. We will not be returning.

We stayed one night to break a journey from Lancashire to Cornwall, and were fortunate to find a deal for the hotel including afternoon tea and a bottle of wine. We were in one of the garden rooms, but unlike the reviews for many hotels offering such accommodation, these were not in the style of a 1960s office block, but blended in very well with the surroundings. The room was spacious, quiet, had 2 chairs and a bathroom with a window; everything we could want from a room. The bed was comfortable and the room had blackout blinds. We took our afternoon tea soon after check in, and though not great in quantity, it had a much more interesting range of sandwiches than many others we have had this year. Though the area around the hotel mainly comprised of a golf course, I was able to enjoy a pleasant stroll in the early evening and take in the quietness of the area. We were able to order our included wine at the bar which was brought to us on the outside terrace where we were able to enjoy the sunset overlooking the golf course (nobody was using it) and had a relaxing evening, before enjoying a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was also very good with a well presented cooked breakfast and a buffet with a good choice of cereals, fruits and pastries. Staff were always well presented, professional and friendly. In fact as somebody who is often critical of things not being quite right, I found very little to fault.

Excellent staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and very resonably priced. We had our dog with us; the hotel is very pet friendly with bed, bowl and ball in the room. We would not hesitate to stay again.

chris makes me feel at easy and can have a laught ive stayed on 2 separate occasions at hotel chris is totally brilliant i love him to bits as he comes chats to you and is down to earth and normal my partner stuart gets on great with him and we all have good laught chris is also very perfessional and loves his job

Booked an afternoon tea to celebrate a family birthday. Very disappointed in quantity and quality. Had to wait for food even though we had booked a time. My wife had to miss out on the sandwiches so there were enough to go around her guests. Never had scones served, already sliced with jam and cream already spread. Cakes were of poor quality. Coffee was like it had been stewing for hours. All in all very disappointing would not recommend as there are many other places which do much nicer afternoon teas.

This is a beautiful hotel and grounds with really friendly and helpful staff. Sit and relax in the conservatory and soak in the views across the valley or swim in the pool. (which we had to ourselves twice) There does however need to be some investment. Firstly in Staffing. The wait at both breakfast and evening meal was far too long. The few staff that were in the restaurant were working their socks off but could not keep up meaning that at breakfast the buffet table kept running out. You were seated at tables that were not cleared ad waiting to have your order taken. It was the same in the evening when for the first 20 mins sat at the table we had a plate with 3 butter pats put on the table and nothing else. No drinks, no rolls and no one communicating the wait. The rooms are OK but looking tired and could do with some TLC as could the lockers in the swimming pool. However as I said at the start the staff are great and the location stunning.

Booked a one-off night so we could use the leisure facilities. The hotel is looking very tired and is destined for a full refurbishment soon. Staff pleasant and helpful - but our large room was more shabby than chic. Breakfast was good - although some improvements could be added in. Complained to the front desk and discussed the situation with the manager - got a good rate reduction and OK. I just don't think they should be charging high rates when the place needs such a lot of work - make it clear when booking and when checking in that the rooms need the work. I think with that then customers are likely to return once the refurb is all done. The pool / spa bit is limited but was nice and quiet for us to use. Tennis court would need resurfacing ideally. Lovely rural location though! Good place to travel from if needed.

My wife and I considered a number of options for our Silver Wedding celebration including self catering at local village halls in the West Swindon area. With around 50 guests we decided to consider the hotel option and following a tour of the facilities and estimated costs we were sold. What an incredible evening. With our own bar and staff we welcomed guests as they entered (we set a limit for free drinks which worked very well). Our home grown live band was brilliant (Jazz set to start the evening and welcome our guests). Followed by a superb covers setlist (can highly recommend if interested). The house DJ (Jon) filled the gaps with tasteful background music and then after the band finished took over the evenings entertainment judging the demographic and music tastes superbly. Open to requests and judging the general mood he built the dancefloor and ended on the song from our wedding dance - perfect and emotional. Another big hit was the buffet - Fantastic feedback from our guests with particular favourites, smoked salmon sandwiches, lamb keebabs, french fries, chicken goujons, spring rolls. Perfect mix for all tastes. As part of the package we had a free family room (huge) and a special rate for guests (feedback excellent for rooms and breakfast - recommend the eggs benedict!) Just spent a lovely 2 days at Cricklade House. Far above expectations. Lovely staff, lovely food. Had a lovely evening meal. Excellent breakfast. Used the pool and jacuzzi. Very enjoyable, not crowded. Will definitely revisit. Couldn't fault it.

Our room itself was fine, quite spacious with a good bathroom. The view out onto a shabby courtyard was a bit disappointing, with people walking past the window regularly. We had two nights of dinner and breakfast. The food at (both) dinners was excellent. Service was a little slow, especially on the busier of the two nights when I heard one of the waitresses say they were short-staffed - and they were clearly struggling albeit doing their best. A lady near to us received the wrong main course, and another customer I spoke to later said they had been served the wrong wine (twice); my bill had someone else's drinks included on it. But, there was no sign of a Manager on the spot to sort things out when they were obviously needed. At breakfast on the first morning we ordered the standard breakfast. It was badly undercooked, the bacon was pale and the sausages raw inside. We sent it back and received a properly cooked plateful with 'apologies from the chef'. The next morning we stuck to eggs, but noticed on an adjoining table that a family had been served similar pale insipid bacon - most of which they left uneaten. Undercooked pork is not good : did no-one wonder why people were either complaining or not eating the food ? Again, no sign of a manager to keep on top of things. I dont know why there was such a contrast between the quality of the evening meals and the breakfast. The hotel has lots of parking, a reasonably comfortable bar and lounge area, and a pleasant south-facing patio with long views. It is a bit isolated and walking to and from Cricklade not really practical, certainly not in the dark - a pity as it is a lovely little town/village.

We had a very pleasant stay. The staff, the room, the food were all excellent and the hotel offers a wide range of facilities. The nearby town of Cricklade is also well worth a visit for its historical interest.

Nice, quiet comfortable room, fantastic views, good pool, great ambience. Lovely evening meal, with attentive staff( are they mind readers?). No rush in the morning, plenty of time for a swim before breakfast- with a good choice.

A really super hotel, where the staff were extremely helpful and friendly from the moment of our arrival with Ella on reception. We had two rooms in the courtyard, rooms 3 and 4, which were large, well equipped, very comfortable and quiet. The main thing which impressed us was the lighting in our rooms.....spot lights in the ceiling plus several lamps, unlike many hotel rooms which are dark and badly lit. The whole ambience of the hotel was lovely. We had an enjoyable meal and were really well looked after by Hannah, Ashley and Chris. An enjoyable experience and one which we plan to repeat with other friends.

We both had a most enjoyable stay here, stopping for one night. All the staff seemed very friendly and pleasant. Although, we were somewhat disappointed to find that to eat a Bar meal, such as Fish and Chips, we had to somehow negotiate dining on low tables, which we found most awkward and messy. One other point... Breakfast was served until 10:00. When we arrived at 9:30 we had to wait quite a few minutes while a table was set up ready for us in the main breakfast room.

Booked using groupon deal for 4 days. Check-in was smooth and friendly. The wine that was included quickly arrived chilled. Our annex twin room was clean the decor was modern but the furniture was old fashioned. Large spacious bathroom. The only downside with the room was it faced the courtyard and people walking passed could see straight in. The only option was to have the blind down which made it very dark. There was also a lot of noise from the room above. The spa facilities were a 1.2M deep pool which was a bit cold. There were glass sliding doors that looked out onto a beautiful view just such a shame you were not allowed to open them. It would have been amazing if they could have opened the doors and had sun beds outside this would have made such a difference especially in the hot weather. The jacuzzi had seen better days as had the changing rooms and steam room. All still usable but need updating. Breakfast was nice though quite a lot of flies, the food would have benefited from being under glass/protective covers. We had a lovely stay and it was a good base for visiting Bath and the Cotswolds. This hotel could be perfect with just a little work but for the money we paid it was great value.

We came back here after a one night stay in a terrible hotel.you cannot fault the staff here. They seem to work ling hours yet always have a smile for you. The Turkish barman goes out of his way to help you.the facilities are brilliant although the steam room needs a lick of paint. The hotel has had a refurb since we stayed here 4 years ago. Now we can't wait to get back the food is really good too. And the location is really good too. Thank you to all the staff we look forward to seeing you soon

Hi There stayed 6 & 7th august this year as working at my head office up the road.Room was absolutely spotless really clean as was shower room.Eat in the restaurant food was outstanding and waitress's were all very friendly and pleasant also table service was really fast.I think bored to death the lovely lady on the reception when i checked in at 6.30pm on Monday 6th she was a joy to talk to and so helpful.Keep up the good work i will be back. We Checked in and went up to our room on the first floor, we had a fantastic view over the surrounding grounds and were not overlooked by anyone, The room was well equipped with everything you need it could have been lifted with some more lighting as the room was a little dark especially the bathroom, The room could do with some new furniture and the windows need replacement as they do not seal properly and leaked when it rained, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable, Breakfast on the first morning (Sunday) was Buffett style and very disorganised, we were seated and asked if we wanted tea or coffee, we went to get our breakfast and when we returned 5 mins later another couple had been seated at our table, so we were left standing plate in hand trying to flag down one of the staff who were not interested, eventually someone finished at a table and we grabbed it, this worried us a bit as we were staying for 5 nights and this was the first breakfast but thankfully the next 4 mornings things were very different, as we were seated given a menu and waited on by two very pleasant and organised ladies who if this is seen by the management are a credit to your establishment, We did eat in the restaurant one night the menu is fairly simple and a little high on price for what you get but the food was decent and well presented, we also used the facilities in the spa side the pool and jacuzzi were ok the steam room was tatty and falling apart, there was also a good snooker and pool table, that provided a good evening's entertainment, there was supposed to be a treatment room but this has been closed down, The location was great (for us anyway) close to main routes but far enough away for them not to be herd, it's very good for access to the water park and your half hour away from any of the main local attractions. You could see some areas of the Hotel have been recently decorated and you would hope this is being rolled out over the entire site, talking with some locals in the pool the hotel has recently been taken over so hopefully the weekend staff issue will get addressed, We will definitely recommend to others and stay here again.

Staff all very pleasant and rooms very nice-Ours was quite cool in a heatwave. The situation and the terrace and conservatory made for delightful evenings sitting and sipping. But. One morning so many people were at breakfast the restaurant was full. This is where the system broke down. There was no queueing system. We were asked to wait but some people had gone for a walk and come back - No-one knew who was next. There was great potential for arguments. Once into breakfast we were never asked to order our breakfast meal. We existed on toast and continental buffet stuff - what was left of it. That left us reviewing our opinions of the place.

Our staff was very brief so was unable to use all the facillities, however check in was efficient , the room was clean and comfortable and very spacious. Bed was comfy and the breakfast taken outside on the terrace was great. Staff friendly and helpful. We would have preferred a groundfloor room as had to carry our bags upstairs, but because the room was so good it made it OK. Would stay here again. The grounds are beautiful and was lovely to wake up an see the countryside

Made a group booking here for 17 people (July 2018) as I thought that it looked like a lovely hotel and had the facilities that my group would enjoy. The hotel is dated, but I note from other reviews that they are spending money on it. The staff were inattentive, inexperienced and arrogant. For example; ordered a beer at the bar and it was a glass of foam, when we explained that it was clearly a new keg and the head wouldn't settle, the barman just replied "so, what do you want then?". Dinner service was dreadful and breakfast service was no better (given it was the same team that served us for dinner, no surprise there). Example: on the first night there were five of us. Most of the tables in the restaurant are set for four. When we asked for a bigger table the waitress just shrugged and said, "we've only got one and that's being used" after a few seconds of embarrassed silence we asked if we could move a small table, adjacent to ours. "No, we're not allowed to do that" was the reply. There was a litany of laughable poor service standards. In all unhelpful staff and reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. Sorry to report this about staff, it's not their fault that they have been badly trained (if at all).

Had a overnight stay here on Saturday 28th July with 6 friends. Hotel is lovely and currently undergoing a upgrade. Our room (29) was large with a walk in shower and large sleigh bed. It was really clean and the pillows very nice. Food in the restaurant was great. There was a power cut when we attened and completely not the hotels fault but all staff coped with it really well. We enjoyed the buffet syle breakfast. However, I cannot beleive that on check out I witnessed 2 older ladies complaning about everything to get a few quid off their bill. The power cut was not the hotels fault.

Sunday Lunch,,, we don't partake in eating Sunday Lunch out very often so when we do i would like it right. We came here last Sunday for a family event, the venue is very pleasant and the view out over the grounds is great. If you go here don't expect the best service, although they young girls serving did seem to be working hard and doing their best, there was no coordination or direction from any supervisor or manager. The food however was very good, hot and well presented, not a lot of it, but then again I like big portions. Beef was cooked really well along with the veg, starters and desserts where also good. The bar is not great, could do with a more personable bar man, the beer was also off as in not available. On the whole an ok experience but need to do a lot better in the service area......

The hotel is in a lovely setting and could be fabulous, but unfortunately there seems to be no management what so ever! We have visited several times over the past few months and can see no improvement under the new management. It takes an age to get served at the bar, all staff seem very young and very inexperienced. No table clearing throughout the day - either not enough staff, or maybe uninterested staff. We stayed in a court yard room which had apparently been refurbished, I could see no sign of re-furbishment, tired, dated room. Such a shame as the views from tbe terrace are outstanding.

Drive by this place all the time, so thought we'd pop in and ask if they were open to non-residents as it says restaurant outside....What we should have done was read the menu outside the doors, it would have made us think twice as there were limited choices...However we had the most beautiful view from our table and were very pleased. The food wasn't great to be honest, edible but mediocre. The worst part was the service. Whether it was because we were non residents or not I'm not sure, but other customers who were residents seemed to get served quickly. To the point where we sat with our dirty plates infront of us whilst the staff served other tables with mains, were cleared, ordered and delivered ice cream, finished that and left their table before anyone came to take our main course plates away...Think they were a bit surprised we didn't order a sweet. But we had sat there for about half an hour. The setting for this restaurant is beautiful and have been to the odd ‘do' there over the years which has been fine. Sadly I wouldn't recommend it as a good food place.

We were luckily enough to stay in a newly refurbished room in the courtyard. It was an amazing room, the bathroom had mood changing lights and lights around bottom of bath for a relaxing experience. The main room also had the mood changing lowlighting feature also. It was a beautiful room, beautiful decorated. Definately value for money, quiet location, and the Hotel is in beautiful suttoundings. Breakfast is lovely. The staff are always helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here and will definately be coming back ??

Return visit after a gap of 7 years which has recently had new owners. Nicely sited and set well back from the main Malmesbury - Cricklade road on the outskirts of Cricklade. Surrounded by its own golf course and with tennis courts in the grounds. On this occasion had room 46 on the first floor with views across the tennis courts and golf course to the countryside beyond. Room nicely presented, clean and tidy, but bed and chairs were tired and in need of replacement. Well equipped bathroom, but a little dated. We understand the new owners have a refurbishment programme for the hotel which is underway with new carpets in public areas confirming this. Dinner in the restaurant on the first night was disappointing. Good quality food but lacked flair and presentation. Long wait to be seated at the unmanned check in desk with passing waiting staff assuring us they would be with us shortly. Had an excellent dinner out the following night at The Bull at Fairford. Self service breakfast cold buffet table of starters with good selection of cereals, fruit juice, fruit etc with main dishes cooked to order and served to the table. Noticeable lack of any management, and poor attention to detail, and again the delay in being shown to a table. Excellent looking brioche loaf on self cut, but no protective serviette so that the loaf was handled by guests with bare hands. Beautiful sunny morning terrace doors and windows wide open but ground staff then appeared to sweep up the debris from the evening before on the adjacent terrace - not ideal 6ft away whilst your having breakfast. No launch platform in position on the conveyor toaster exposing guests to burnt fingers putting the bread on the conveyor, rectified once I pointed it out to staff. All points of detail which could be handled better with visible supervision. Staying on a prepaid package. when we came to check out presented with an account to pay for two nights B & B, followed by the dinner charge to my credit card which I was asked to approve. Produced documents confirming prepayment and charges were withdrawn, and the credit card charge cancelled. Excellent location and wish the new owners every success with their refurbishment programme

Disappointed. Sandwiches were good however the quality and selection of cake was poor. Expected something more from this experience especially as new owners are now in place and should be making more effort to attract clients. Service was poor due to lack of staff.

We had a one night stay for our anniversary, the reception welcome from Ella was very good. Our room was in the courtyard area, clean and spacious, with iron/board, tea/coffee facilities. We had afternoon tea on the patio, which was very nice... wasn't great service, but okay. We used the snooker room, pool and hot tub, all good. We went out locally for dinner to The White Hart Inn in Ashton Keynes... very nice. The bed in our room was far too soft!! If your partner moved.. it would wake you! Breakfast was served 7-10...we went at 9 and the continental part was fairly gone, needs to be replenished a bit more. Cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, breads for toast and fruit juices... then the waitress takes your cooked order.. Full Cricklade breakfast and the eggs benedict were lovely, waitress Jannet was lovely too! There's lots to see in the area although we didn't stay long enough to your around. Overall a lovely stay.
