« Fantastic except fitness center was terrible »

One of the nicer hotels we have stayed in. Great service from the staff. Cleaning staff ran out the door to meet us at the curb as we checked out, because we forgot a phone charger. Nice buffet breakfast, well managed by almost overly attentive staff. Nice lobby to eat breakfast and meet fellow travelers. Room had very nice wood floors, was quiet and peaceful. That said, we like to exercise while traveling, and for a relatively pricy hotel (200-300/night) the fitness center was terrible. 3 cardio machines of poor quality. Treadmill was difficult to turn on, turned off randomly while running (could be dangerous), hot tub was out of order the entire 4 day stay. Very bad, enough that anyone wanting a convenient fitness center must either stay elsewhere or plan to pay extra and go to a local health club.

    « Exceptional staff! »

A very warm and happy shout out to Monique, the front desk representative. This is my second stay at the Hawthorne. Monique went out of her way to make sure I got a room that met my wishes. She is very warm and accommodating. Thanks again! T

    « Great for a family »

We traveled to Chicago for a quick trip with three our three teenagers, and were quite comfortable in a "Junior Suite" during our stay! There were two king beds, one of which was in a separate, private bedroom. The couch also folded out into a bed. There were three televisions, and a fridge, microwave and dining table as well. The location is awesome; walking distance to a huge variety of restaurants and attractions. Wrigley Field is an easy walk, as is the Briar Street Theatre, home of Blue Man Group. Our suite was in the building next door, easily accessible and just a few steps from the main lobby's front door. Breakfast was available in both buildings, which we appreciated.

    « Great Service »

We were scheduled to stay a few nights at this hotel and go to a Cubs game, but my husband sprained his ankle, forcing us to change our plans and drive back home to NC. I had made no-cancel reservations the month before and, sure we would billed for the whole amount, I called the hotel anyway and explained the situation. Geoffry(?) Was very understanding and sweet. He canceled our reservation and refunded us. I can't say that the competition would do the same. This is how you get a loyal customer for life! Guess where we will be staying when we finally get Chicago!

« Super close to Wrigley Field »

Spent two nights. Located just over a mile from Wrigley Field, nice breakfast (especially the cinnamon rolls from Ann Sather's across the street) and helpful staff people. Great time! Outside area to eat was a nice bonus!

    « A trip to the Ballpark »

This hotel is a tiny gem at affordable prices and in walking distance to Wrigley Field. The only disappointment on this overnight was the Hometown Cubs loss. The breakfast was super good- eggs, sausage, waffles, toast.... cereals. Spend some time walking around the diverse neighborhood, And one block down to the Great Lake Michigan. Can't beat this sweet little find.

    « Vintage heaven!! »

This hotel is a treasure. And the staff even more so. I have already raved about it FB. Everything was perfect. The shower was the best s anywhere. I am still missing it, . We stayed in Indianna last night and I was whinning about how the

« Very reasonable near Wrigley »

This is a very quaint hotel within walking distance of Wrigley Field. Several restaurants in immediate area too. The parking garage is attached and very easily accessible. Price is 40.00 per day. Breakfast was good. Area is very small and congested. Be patient. Eating area is actually hotel lobby but plenty of tables. Overall nice experience.

    « my stay »

I could not of ask for a better place to stay reserved on line and exceeded our expectations you guys knocked it out of the park. Even though both cub games got cancelled we had a nice place to lay our heads. THANK YOU .

« A Quiet Home Away From Home »

I don't want to write a review. The Hawthorne Terrace was a small cozy traditional old hotel with newly renovated rooms. Very beautiful and comfortable. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast room was very open and sunny. Very convenient location if you are visiting DePaul University. Also there are many very good restaurants nearby.

    5
    « Trip to Chicago »

The hotel was charming and the room was very large. Breakfast was good and the hot tub was nice for the chilly nights. It was remodeled nicely and I really liked the rain head shower feature in the huge walk in shower. Double vanities were a nice bonus also. The beds were comfortable.

    « Great little hotel! »

We have stayed twice when visiting our daughter. Staff is very helpful and complimentary breakfast is good. We will return .The location is great amenities also with a good breakfast (area small though). I personally like a softer comforter although these are attractive

« Overpriced and too loud. »

I've stayed here before for 100$ less a night, but my travel dates were fixed for medical reasons. The price of the room was not worth it, and next time I'll be trying to plan more accordingly. Outside street noise is to be expected; it is Chicago. What I didn't expect was the HVAC fan being so loud that it kept me up, as well as the people in the room across the hall screaming. At one point the door to their room was left open for multiple hours, so I told the front desk. When I walked by next time, the door was closed but music was blaring and I could hear it in my room. This is the second time I've had a noise issue with other guests in the hotel. Also, any room right by the elevator (which this was) means you'll hear the ding all night. If you're sensitive to noise at night, I would not recommend this hotel. I stay here because it's within walking distance of what I need and once I check in I get left alone. If it weren't within walking distance of my medical appointments, I'd be looking elsewhere. That said, I always find parking on the surrounding streets for free. I won't mess with the parking garage next door who takes your keys and charges 40$ a day. Also - I'll say this is a good place to stay in Chicago if you have a service animal. I got no questions or hassle about her, and there's actually some dirt and grass on the nearby streets for walking. So A+ for that at least.

« went for cubs game »

went for cubs game. Close to Wrigley, nothing to fancy. Felt like it was out dated. Other than that it was acceptable. A lot of nice restaurants and bars with in walking distance. Parking garage for an extra fee.

    « Great value & awesome location! »

Stayed with my 2 daughters for a Chicago overnight trip. Room was quaint & comfortable. We also received a complimentary upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. Hope to stay here again with my husband for a weekend getaway. A very short walk to many activities in Lakeview. I was very pleased with room & front desk service.

    5
« Quite satisfied with our stay »

We were here for a concert at the Riviera Theater. Nice location, parking right next store. Staff was fine. Free upgrade to a large suite -- very nice room! Only complaint: hot tub was only lukewarm..

    4
« Luckily the only hotel in this neighborhood is a very good one »

We were very pleased with the comfort and location of this hotel, and would definitely stay here again if our plans took us to the East Lakeview area of Chicago. The room was very spacious, and we appreciated having a microwave and refrigerator. The hardwood floors were a very nice alternative to the usual hotel carpeting.

    3
« Great hotel with convenient walking distance to bars »

Hotel was basic, but comfortable. Location was worth the price of a suite at $370/night. The bars are easy to get as well as bringing back food from the restaurants still open later in the evening after a night of drinking and socializing.

« Great place to stay! »

Clean, quiet and spacious rooms. Great location, close to so much. Easy getting in and out of parking garage. Definitely will stay here again! We really loved the room, it had hard wood floors and decorated so nice.

« Nice hotel in a terrific part of town »

We took our two teens to Chicago for spring break in March 2018. We did the usual attractions-Shedd, Field, Sky deck, Blue Man ect. We are from the Cleveland area and Chicago is a huge step up. As far the Hawthorne, the location is north of downtown and surrounded by many wonderful restaurants and even a grocery store. Lots of things are in walking distance. The hotel is very very charming, clean and the rooms are fairly spacious considering how cramped buildings are in Chicago. This hotel has two buildings, both right next to each other. Each has its own complimentary breakfast area, so you don't need to go to the main lobby to eat in the morning. We had a loft suite....one level, one bath with double sinks, 2 king beds separated by a half wall for privacy and a living area with pull out sofa. The bathroom was my favorite part....granite counters, HUGE shower with 2 different spray heads, and a double sink. The rooms are nicely remodeled but still maintain old style charm. We even had a mini kitchen though we didn't cook much. The only negatives: Floors are original hardwood planks. Many of which are loose and separated. Watch out if you plan to walk barefoot! Mattresses are very hard. Might be a plus for some travelers but not us. We tossed and turned and woke up with sore backs. Last negative (but I am being a little picky here)...breakfast. While we very much appreciated a hot breakfast each morning, the choices were limited and always the same. The hot items were circular fried eggs (sized for a sandwich) and either sausage or bacon (switched daily). No potatoes for those carb lovers. There was a waffle maker and lots of toppings for waffles, but the breakfast area is so cramped I didn't feel like waiting to cook it. But I would much rather have those offerings than no breakfast as restaurants are so expensive. Overall, nice hotel that is good for families or adults.

    « Wonderful! »

This hotel is great! Close to the lake and the CTA. The rooms are unique, clean comfortable and attractive. You can walk to many different restaurants, shopping and Wrigley field. The staff are all so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This is the second time we've stayed here and we will definitely be back!

    5
    « Great neighborhood stay »

This is a smaller hotel in a great Lakeview neighborhood. It is within walking distance of the train. They offer breakfast but there are many restaurants nearby. We found it to be clean. We will stay here again.

    5
    « Always a great experience! »

Convenient to area attractions. Intimate setting. Comfortable and quiet rooms including the suites. Great amenities including breakfast and adjacent parking. Staff is ALWAYS pleasant and helpful. Best bargain around!

    5
    « Our Spot »

My boyfriend and I met here for a weekend anniversary trip and plan to come back every year. The staff was genuinely interested in being helpful and friendly. Taylor at the front desk was always smiling. Hawthorne Terrace has a cute first impression, the room was attractive and spotless, and the comfort and ease of our time made us want to never stay anywhere else in Chicago. Also, taking the Red Line downtown was easy, and there were lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood.

    5
« Once again - like being at home. »

I really look forward to my trips to Chicago, not only to visit friends but to stay at an 'away from home' home. Staff is friendly and makes me feel like family. It is easily a place that I would bring my own.

    5
    « Cute neighborhood gem »

Older updated building near Wrigley Field - dog friendly!! Very comfortable rooms and they offered gluten free bagles - a real plus. We are in Chicago often and will definitely stay here the next tim. It's close to restaurants and coffee shops and feels very safe.

    2
« Expensive, noisy, and room items not functioning. »

This hotel is not worth the price. We experienced loud noises coming from room above, a malfunctioning phone, dead remote, and a very small breakfast area that was always full of people. The staff was terrific, however, and that made it bearable.

    5
« Excellent Boutique style Hotel »

Very comfortable, neighborhood feel, yet very close to everything. Much more like a boutique hotel. Very accommodating staff. Easy and safe to walk around the neighborhood and many choices for personal services and dinning in the immediate area, including a full grocery store on the same block

« Great for Family Trip Downtown »

Great place to bring the family downtown for the weekend. Nice rooms with a good layout and the breakfast was great to have. Perfectly situated in the right spot in Chicago. Close to the theater and food and Bars.

    « Excellent Stay! »

Godfrey could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Thank you! The room was just terrific, as was the staff. Great area, near restaurants and even a record store. Convenient parking adjacent to the hotel.

    « Kevin was wonderful! »

Front desk clerk Kevin was so nice and pleasant to us during our stay. He accommodated all of our needs! The stay here was very beautiful to say the least, very clean and beautiful rooms, we'll definitely be staying here again!

    « Nice stay »

This is the third time I have stayed here . As on my other two visits this visit is also good. This time I am in a suite. In the suite u have a small kitchenette. Stocked with utinsels , microwave, fridge, and two burner stove. The room is as pictured on their site. The only con to the property is that the elevator is slow and the ice machine is in the main hotel. I love the area and enjoy staying here . Lots of places to eat along Broadway. Grocery store. Plan on staying here again when in the area.

    5
« Great value very nice personnel »

Have stayed here multiple times. Been upgraded 2x without even asking. ROom is spacious and nice , breakfast works for us. All of the people who work here that we have encountered are pleasant, greet you with a smile and helpful

    « Good value »

We were looking for a spot basically just to crash for the night. It was a quick trip in and out of the city. While some hotels may have a low nightly rate, by the time you add parking, it's not so reasonable, or the parking is blocks away...the parking at the BW was right next door. $40. No charge for in and out. Front desk staff friendly and efficient- ready to offer suggestions for places to eat or anything related to Chicago. Very close to Wrigley and great restaurants. Room was quiet (we were on first floor near desk and breakfast ). Heating/air fan click on and off but it didn't interfere with sleep. Breakfast was included- we didn't eat tho. It looked ok. There was perodic cigarette smell in hall -either from outdoor smoking area or staff area but it didn't smell in room. Nothing fancy, served its purpose m.

    « Amazing stay »

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel I came in and Kevin greeted me he was soooo pleasant to deal with. When I walked in he had a smile on his face which I always check for when staying at a hotel. Kevin customer Service was excellent. I would 100% book best western plus Hawthorne terrace again.

« Weekend in Lakeview-- The hallways smelled of weed »

Each night the hallways wreaked of weed. Most disturbing for a non-smoking hotel, especially when traveling with a child. I mentioned the issue to the front desk and there did not seem to be anything done about it.

    5
« Always a very pleasant stay - Great Value »

This was my 2nd stay with Hawthorne, i have never been disappointed. The location is walking distance to great restaurants and shops on Broadway, and of course Lake Michigan, The staff is always more than welcoming, and accommodations exceed our expectations each time.

    « Perfect weekend stay »

Friendly staff ,very clean hotel, cute and perfect size junior suite. Very modernized hotel loved the rain shower! Perfect idea of two tv's especially if you have kids. Spacious for our family of 4. Really Great

« Very nice hotel in great area »

My wife and I stayed here in January and had a great visit. The hotel is very nice, the staff was great, and the location is in a quiet neighborhood. Very good breakfast included. Great shops and restaurants nearby, lots of young adults in area. Would gladly return, especially in the summer when we hear they have great activities in the area. Highly recommend.

    5
« It feels like a small, personal place to stay and not at all like a known chain hotel. »

It is just so easy, comfortable, convenient, clean with good parking. The staff is always helpful and efficient. Over the years, I have only stayed there 4 or 5 times but happily. I always look forward to staying there and hope to continue although it often full. I hope this little place maintains its unique and efficient ways!

    4
    « Pleased »

Small rooms, but typical in Chicago. Clean rooms, nice continental breakfast, and friendly staff. Floors and walls are very thin. Quite noisy but helped to run the fan. Parking is expensive and unnecessarily utilizes valet. The cars were parked right there on the first level, but you still had to wait and tip the valet. Seemed like a private lot though. So, I doubt the hotel has much to do with that. It was definitely a convenient spot for parking. I've looked at staying here before with rates upwards of $400. I wouldn't be impressed at that price at all. However, the price I paid for this stay was very reasonable.

    4
    « Charming and Affordable »

Great staff, great location and free breakfast. It was snowy and messy outside and they were very diligent about keeping the lobby clean and safe. The staff was very helpful, kind and accommodating will stay again.

    4
« Very nice place to stay »

Good location with a lot of options for food and entertainment and good connections for public transportation to down town. The room was comfortable and spacious , clean and quiet ( we had a rooms that was not on the street ) .The staff was friendly.

    4
« Nice hotel but poor service! »

This is a nice and clean hotel! Black out shades are average! The hotel located in safe area and the rooms are comfortable! However the front desk reception is not welcoming! When i asked a question after checking in as to any nearby restaurants, the reception did not want to help and looked at me as if i was botherinf them!

    5
    « Amazing hidden gem »

I'm a repeat customer for this well located and high quality hotel. Ann Sathers delivers fresh cinnamon buns for the free breakfast. Need I say more? We felt appreciated and special. The suites are excellent. Great value. amazing service. Clean. Excellent location.

    5
    « Great visit »

This hotel a hidden gem. We were in town for Blue Man Group with a work party. I booked here because it was close to Yoshi's Café, Briar Street Theatre, and Hutch for brunch...all within walking distance. Great neighborhood, good vibe, and a 1/2 block from Starbucks. Our room was clean, the front desk service was stellar, parking convenient being right next to the hotel, and the shower head is high and strong, which is important to me being so tall. I'd highly recommend this place for a good stay at a super reasonable price!

    4
« Good hotel for a great price »

Great location and a value for the city. Parking is much less than other downtown properties. Older rooms could use updating. Not enough outlets, especially near the nightstands. Could also use some USB ports - everyone else has them now.

    5
« Nice place to stay. »

Overall it was a very nice experience. The room was comfortable and spacious. The decor in the room was beautiful. The staff was friendly. The continental breakfast had a large selection. Checkout was hassle free.

    « not a great experience »

upon checkin they told me I had not paid for my room. (I booked 2 rooms same date at home on my computer online) I said my card was already charged for 2 rooms. they did not agree and asked for a card for them to charge. I needed to stay so I gave them a card. the next day I went back to show them the card was already charged and they did refund me but refunded the wrong card and I had a charge show up again on my original card. long story short it was a mess to get straightened out. the couches that we had in our suite as well as our regular room and my family members suite all head tears and rips in them and were in bad condition. most of the furniture throughout the hotel needed to be replaced. continental breakfast was ok but everything was not always out by 7. I would not stay here again

    « Don't know »

We had a fun time in the area the parking is still very expensive I don't know what else to say to be able to complete this survey I didn't know that I had to fill out this part of it or I probably never would've done it

« Best Hotel in Boystown. »

The staff and crew are So GREAT and the service is exceptional and the staff sets that bar. Rooms are clean, bright and perfectly situated near all of the best neighborhoods and restaurants. Shopping made easy and a staff that always exceeds expectatioons.

    3
    « Just Ok »

nothing spectacular about the room. The hotel is located right next to parking and a grocery store. The area it is as well is also nice and there are a lot of options for food and entertainment in the area.

    « Great Chicago Hotel »

Great hotel, in great neighborhood. Excellent restaurants on same street. Every meal was great. Near Wrigley Field. Not too big, not too small. Wonderful staff. Great location. A wonderful week long vacation!

    5
« Wonderful place, wonderful location, great price »

The room was like a nice apartment - hardwood floors, nice bed, couch, desk, kitchen, small dining table. Excellent large double sink bathroom. Good closet space, wall of windows with louvered blinds. Short walk to Lakeshore Dr and under, to the lake front trails and a DOG BEACH within a block (Teddie was delighted). Great value. Breakfast was good - full selection. Bus line very close. Parking a bit expensive but we found street parking close by on two of the three nights. We'll be back.

« I used this hotel twice for the same reason. »

I needed a hotel near where my daughter lives. I needed to travel to the hotel the day before her surgery so that I could drive her to the next county and get her to the hospital on-time. Inexpensive in-door parking was available. Motel was affordable in an area with no other options.

    1
« Hotel great, but watch your wallet »

Left my phone in the room and was hours away when we noticed, I asked if it could be mailed to me. They said yes and charged my visa $82.06 for mailing a 100.00 phone. DO NOT TRUST THEM. It was being mailed from Chicago to SW MI.

« Perfect stay in a great neighborhood »

Stayed here recently. Great experience all around! Reservations were made easily enough with handy follow up emails. Check in was quick and painless, even provided room early, bonus! Common areas are nice, but would never be considered chic/modern/cool. Think comfortable, but more in an '80s fabric(y) kind of way. Single elevator was good, but can imagine it gets bogged down at peak times. Hallway is looooong to the end-again very fabric(y) and feels like a bad Grandma. That said, one in the room, perfect. Had a large room with everything needed. Big, comfortable king bed, dresser with large flat screen TV with multiple channels, and a desk. Closet had safe, ironing board/iron, small fridge, micro and coffee pot. Bathroom was nicely laid out. Had an issue with the TV (no channels available), so went to the phone to call the desk. Phone was there, but usually they work better when actually connected to the wire, which there wasnt one. Told the desk on my way out, and they dispacthed someone. All was fixed upon my return. Breakfast was more than expected. Usual suspects of cereal/fruit/pastries/juices/coffee and also included eggs/sausages and a waffle machine (with so many topping options!). No actual place to sit other than a few tables in the lobby area, but it wasn't crowded. included wifi is fast and easy to connect. Property is in a neighborhood filled with shops, restaurant and nightlife within minutes of walking-just the best. Easy access to Michigan Avenue and the Loop via express bus or Red Line, both an easy walk. Will look to stay here again.

« Amazing stay, great location »

I cannot say enough for this hotel!! They truly went above and beyond my expectations. I stayed here for my 30th birthday celebration since its close to the Wrigleyville bars (5 min drive). From booking, checking in and checking out everything went smooth. The rooms were up-to-date, very clean but I cannot compliment the staff enough, especially Jordan! Would highly recommend this hotel, perfect location with so many places to eat and shops within walking distance. I will be staying here for future events, can't wait to come back!

    « Gem »

Great little gem of a hotel: well-staffed, lovely and well-cared for rooms, centrally located. I will absolutely stay here again during my next visit to Chicago. The WiFi was a bit less than fabulous, but that would be my only objection to an otherwise wonderful stay.

    1
    « Out Date Interiors »

This hotel definitely need to update the rooms interiors for the price that I paid. Due to the nature of the old building and surrounding this town, I do not mind to stay in this old building but the minimum interior quality need to be reasonable! I got turnoff by the old furnitures and old bed mattresses which can not even support my back with my average weight 158 lbs. In my opinion this hotel is over priced with the current quality.

    5
    « nice and convenient »

great hotel with good value in an outstanding area - good restaurants nearby ( check out the mexican food and marquritas across the street ) parking right next door - pricy but it IS downtown Chicago would def. go back

    « hotel review »

I used this hotel as it was close to family as my visit was for business and pleasure, although very reasonable, room and hotel decor extremely out of date, no interest in spending time there, clean however, just not worth a hotel

    5
« Great hotel for visiting Chicago »

Nice, comfortable, smaller hotel. Much better that the usual chain hotel feel and the staff were excellent. Very ample breakfast included in the room price and an extremely spacious room made this a nice stop over. Walking distance of the lake front, restaurants and bars and just a short taxi ride to the centre of Chicago.

    5
    « Beautiful Hotel »

Wonderful staff. The hotel has large rooms, and an elegant atmosphere - especially the outside and courtyard! Cinnamon rolls were wonderful - as was the variety of breakfast foods and beverages. It is much nicer than most higher-priced hotels.

    « A surprisingly good stay »

I had walked past this hotel many times since my daughter left bed in the neighborhood. When we needed a room for some family members, we chose to stay here. It is an excellent location and is within walking distance of Wrigleyville. For Chicago prices, it was in line.

    5
    « Cute, quaint hotel »

This hotel was very comfortable and clean. Staff was kind and helpful. Beds, were a little hard, but room overall was outstanding! The outside was decorated beautifully for the holiday season and was very tasteful! We had a great time!

    3
    « Pete's »

There was something off kilter about this place (not right), a lot of men running around leering and watching guests as they ate or lounged. The room was clean, but some of the public areas, such as the breakfast area, someone had gotten sick by the door and it was not cleaned during the time we were there, you could not eat in the dining area, and after the first day stopped taking food out it to our room.

« Excellent service in a very clean, nicely done neighborhood hotel »

Family recently moved to this area, and I was delighted to find a neighborhood hotel with good reviews nearby. Very clean and thoughtfully renovated rooms, with amenities I wouldn't normally expect in a Best Western. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and breakfast was nicely laid out and restocked frequently - they even pack little "on the run" breakfast bags for early risers who need to head out the door quickly. Great valet parking garage next door - though be prepared that the price is hefty ($40 a day, including in / out if you're staying at the hotel); parking in this area is very difficult, so not a lot of other reasonable options. Only other item I'd like to see changed is that on weekends (not sure whether all the time or just on weekends deemed "heavy area traffic" weekends - my weekend was the weekend before Thanksgiving), 2-night minimum F / Sa night stays are required, at least up until about 1-2 weeks before the date; it seems to me that this would push a good number of advance reservers (whom I would think have good potential to be loyal repeat customers) to book elsewhere who might want to stay here for only 1 weekend night, which I question as a long-term business strategy in this area - not a heavy tourist area (except in the thick of baseball season). Happy to make what I feel is a very good value discovery in a city which can be pricey, and one with excellent service to boot.

This was our second stay. Our son is DePaul student. We drove out to pick him up. The staff is so helpful and friendly. The hotel is charming and cozy. Rooms are clean and comfortable. You can walk to many restaurants and train. Hotel offered DePaul family rate. Breakfast offered hot and cold food items. Drinks and hot coffee all day. Area was clean and continually re stocked.

« Our stay in Chicago »

Considerate staff who listened to our problems about the heating system issues and then adjusted our rate for our stay. The breakfast area had decent food, but the room where it was served was cramped and difficult to navigate.

    « Outstanding Stay »

The hotel property was clean, well maintained and attractive. The staff that I came in contact with were accommodating, friendly and eager to serve. I felt safe and secure and the morning breakfast was eye appealing and very good. I would definitely return and recommend this property.

    « We'd book again! »

Booked a queen single but the heater didn't work so we were moved to a larger dbl double and it was fine. We went from the first floor to the third and unfortunately there was a very unhappy baby next to us and the poor parents just couldn't get it calmed down. They finally were successful but it didn't last long and they actually had to take the child outside about 2AM! The hotel staff did talk to the parents but there just wasn't anything they could do. Even though we were a bit tired from the crying child incident, the breakfast the next day was very nice. Lots of choices and plenty of food. The front garden area and outdoor seating are probably lovely in the spring and summer.

We were treated like royalty here! Very comfortable bed, quiet, clean room, great breakfast. Both my husband and I were very happy with our stay. Location was close to everything we needed. Safe neighborhood also.

« Time to refurbish the public areas! »

I have stayed at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace at least once a year for over 20 years; the location is great! The guest rooms are always clean, up-to-date, and comfortable. But on the mast visit in early November, I noticed that the public areas are definitely in need of a refurbishing! The charm of the lobby has disappeared, and the hallways need a remodeling! The seettie located in the elevator area on each floor has been there for over 20 years, and definitely needs replaced. I still highly recommend the hotel if staying in the Boystown area of Chicago, near Wrigley Field!

« Thank you for a wonderful stay! »

The team at this location have really stepped up thier game. Customer service was excellent. I felt very relaxed by checkout time. Stayed in the king room suite, highly recommend! Worth every penny. Two king beds one in an alcove and one actual bedroom. Three TVs, and a kitchenette. Ordered groceries and ate myself into a food coma.

« Very loud and amenities in a very bad condition »

Very loud: you can hear everything from every room. Amenities: breakfast room is tiny and has never enough space for all the guests | using the gym is dangerous as things are broken. Value for money: you can get way better value for money in Chicago.

« One of few options near Halsted St and Wrigley »

Stayed here Halloween weekend to be close to the nightlife on nearby Halsted St and found it to be a great choice. Not your typical big box chain hotel, it clearly used to be an apartment building as all the rooms are different shapes and sizes. It has a cute front garden area that was all dressed up for Halloween, staff was super nice at check in, rooms are big (I got upgraded to a suite that could have easily slept 5), breakfast was good, just wish it went a little later on weekends. Furniture is a little tired but bathrooms have been renovated recently and the shower was amazing. I believe all the rooms have a kitchenette. For some reason it's really the only option in this area, but even if it wasn't I would definitely stay here again.

« Graduation trip for our Grandson to see the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley »

I hope it will let me write everything I want to, I hope I am not limited. We 1st discovered Best Western's again in 2014, in Pigeon Forge, Tn. It was New Years Eve, I had just been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma stage 4, was having surgery on Jan. 7th. My hubby surprised me he said lets get out & forget about everything. So he wanted a room w/ a Jacuzzi and fireplace & the balcony over the creek, he got that room on a holiday, b/c they have a ball drop like Ny on a smaller scale but you would never know it. From the outside it looked like an older hotel but freshly painted & taken care of well. I was so skeptical. We walked into the room and I was shocked to death, it was a gorgeous day, so from that day forward when we travel we try to stay in a Best Western, they have a great rewards program, and we have only stayed at one that didn't served breakfast, most have hot tubs and indoor pools, and are updated very beautifully, modern, depending on location. Always checked last time renovated. And call some bank in that area, if your not sure, most have been renovated, but somebody at a bank would probably have some info. I pretty much can tell by looking at the pictures, styles of tv, color palette if it's been updated. SO we have stayed in so many, since then and have earned so many free nights easy to accumulate. Most have great prices and they have last minute deals, if you decide to go some where fast. One of my biggest pet peeves on traveling is usually the beds, these beds are so comfortable, I can swear on this one. None of the ones we have stayed in have not been comfy. So back pain solved now when traveling, just hate it when it's a destination that we need to be, and no Best Western. Ok on to the BW Hawthorne TERRACE Chicago Illnois, this is a Lovely Boutique Hotel & has been completely updated but kept the lovely Charm of the hotel. So are grandson graduates this year and he's a huge Cubs fan. So of course, we wanted to surprise him, but when he graduates the cubs will be in spring training & one of the buckets lists, was Wrigley field. So on our way up we stayed in a Best Western in Portage, Indiana & on way home stayed at another BW in Edinburgh Indiana. Both as beautiful as well. So back to the BW Hawthorne TERRACE Chicago Illinois, I have a couple of complaints. So, when I made my reservations w/Mayra, I had several conversations w/ asking different info. Because we had our tickets forever, and then I found out the day we went you could do a guided tour of all of Wrigley FIELD except locker rooms, they got to go on the field, we went everywhere & so fun & so much info.A must do 25.00pp. it was game day, I mean, my husband likes basketball, but our Grandson has really got us into it, especially the cubs after the win last yr, we use to love it alot, I think NFL & College basketball has taken us over. So I had called to find out for the tour and the game on parking because 2 different gates & would we exit the stadium or just stay in. An exact location on parking. The closest handicap parking was 1 & 1/2 miles one way, yes I said handicap! Unreal & he would have to move it to a different parking spot for the game. 50.00 for each parking, so I called Mayra and she said absolutely come early & park at hotel it was only 8 blocks away. And I had given her my credit card & told her we would have late check in. So tour, lunch, shopping & game, so we had a full day. I went in to check in and I had cash to pay hotel in full in advance, no mini bars etc. They already had my credit card on file and the little guy I think was new, & he goes you have to pay a 75.00 deposit since your paying cash & I go why you have my card on file. He goes we have too, if your paying cash, I go do you have a manager I could talk to about this, it wasnt the money it was the principal. He said yes, I will get him, by this time I was filling out paperwork & stuff he came back out & said he will be right here, I go while I am waiting go ahead and check them in. I don't mean to be mean, but he came out like he was teach this old lady Im 60, anciet to him, how things work, very rude, very loud goes if you don't have a, credit card & are paying cash, you have to pay a deposit, I go first I do have a credit card you have it on file, I think you can speak lower, I can hear you, he goes I thought maybe you couldn't hear him tell you the same thing I am telling you. So another age slam, but that's on him. I go I stay at Best Western all the time in fact I stayed in one last night & there was no issue or problem. So we were tired, felt yucky, still had to unpack luggage out of car, we had dinner reservations downtown, because we,were right by the lake. So I looked at my husband I go give me my wallet, Iwas, over it by then, I paid the 75.00. So they handed me the keys & I asked for a receipt, he goes you will get it when you check out. I go no I will get it now I paid cash, so he walked in the back slammed the door & there was people, everywhere, don't think my husband is s wimp, I go just let me take care if it, so he throws a paper at me said nothing about the 75.00 deposit. I asked him to write on here the deposit & initial it please, I never raise my voice, I really wanted to cry, I was so exhausted, he goes I am not doing that, I could tell the man next to me was about to go over the counter after him, he never said anything but I think if it went on much longer he would have. So I myself wrote down 75.00 deposit & the date & asked there names the young boy, told me his, & I asked him again, and he raised his voice & told me his name. Then he added, it won't matter, anybody can write anything on it, I go thank you very much, I think it was making him madder that I wasn't screaming and hollering over this, I wasn't give him the satisfaction. So we went to our room we had a Jr. Suite 2 queen comfy beds and a flat screen Tv in there and in the living area a sofa bed if we needed it, we did not. Micro/ Fridge/Desk another flat screen Tv s closet so big we could put the wheelchair in it when we're not using it got cleaned up dressed, thank the Lord for valet parking or we would have never made our reservation. So the next day, gonna condense the rest, I was not feeling well, so he I just rested until dinner so my husband & grandson went to the Chicago History Museum. I was looking at my checkbook, and the hotel charged my card 51.and change, so he I called down asked for manager said he'd be back in an hour, I go I hope so because we are going to dinner & and if I don't here from him by the time we leave I am calling corporate in the morning. Now my husband is not there, well the phone rings and it was the manager and I told him the whole thing, he kept apologizing, & said he would take care of it, & the boy was wrong, he would have my 75.00 waiting for me when ever I wanted it & he would definitely take care of him. Because he is wrong. SO we get ready to leave & the girl was on & him He goes what do you need I go my 75.00 his head look like it was going to explode, the girl goes here you go Mrs. Bagby. So then we get up the next day and I am checking the bank there was the credit for the charge. And now I have 2 more charge of 40.00 each, Jerry called down to see if the manager was there they said yes, he got dressed and went down, needless to say, he said he couldn't tell who did it, but I feel like he was the one, he asked me on Monday what he needed to do to make me happy, and I go my 75.00 back and and credit my account, my husband goes you didn't ask for any perks. So the manager was very nice and very attentive. But he asked my husband the same thing, well we got our parking free, and a disc on our room. So maybe I will speak up next time. I didn't want anything, I just wanted it all fixed. But I think by the time all this transpired he was just over it. It took 10 days before it credited my acct. He told my husband if you don't get it with in 10 days call me. The only other problem, I am having know, is if you are a member of the rewards program. When you make a reservation it is on your app & in your email almost immediately. And then when you check out almost immediately your points are added. SO before we even went I had probably 3 conversations about my trip not being on there even though I received an email and confirmation. So the last phone call to me she said even tho everything else has been updated, they still haven't updated there system, but it would be taken care of. Well so far, we checked out on Oct 4th, and it is now Nov 6th, still no points. So I filled out missing POINTS today. It says wait 7 days after you check out before filling this out so I waited over a month if we don't get them we will call corporate. And both of the other Best Western's show up in our rewards section. This one has still not. My only other complaint is what if, you didn't have the money on your card or your debit card. That could have been major for some one fortunately it was not for us. But there have been times it would have matter. BUT here is the kicker, besides the young manager who's position has gone to his head, and the other issues, but the manager was nice and took care of us, and I feel assured the points problem will be taken care of. This was a really nice boutique Hotel, large indoor Jacuzzi, free breakfast every morning, ivy covered walls, so quaint and cozy throughout the whole hotel, and some of the older design elements have been refurbished, or really good fakes. It a really nice place to stay you can see the lake from the hotel we were on the 4th floor, only about 6 to 8 mins to everything even downtown, there are 2 grocery stores 1/2 block away, cafes, fine dining, donut shops, you name it right or left 1 block each way there's everything even Walgreens. About 8 blocks to fast food, and the Wrigleyville area, I am sure would be a fun area 2 blocks over and 2 blocks up and them all the way to the stadium. It has great beds, very upscale, very nice bistro style table area for the warmer weather to have breakfast. Would I stay there again, absolutely!!!!

« First time in Chicago »

Beautiful little hotel that has welcoming staff (from front desk to cleaners - all lovely people). The location is fantastic: ensure you go for walks in the area. Close to several landmarks - great for tourists. Walking distance to L station. Great food nearby. The front desk staff gave good advice for restaurants. The breakfast bar was well stocked: be sure to get the cinnamon rolls - they come from Ann Sather right across the street. The coffee is good. The only downside is noise: if your room is street view, then you will hear sirens regularly. You may wish to ask to be moved to a room along the sides or in the back, if this bothers you (alternately, bring earplugs). I will definitely come back to this hotel in future.

    « Excellent Management! »

I left a very valuable item in my room before I left for the day and called to inform the manager. He personally went up to my room to secure it and sent me a text afterwards as proof. Seems to be very committed to customer service! I will definitely be back next time I travel to Chicago!

    « Chicago's Best Western-Hawthorne »

If you're looking for a hotel in the Lakeview area (Broadway Avenue) this is a great place to stay. Courteous, efficient staff; breakfast included; nice amenities. Price is very fair given the quality of this fine hotel.

« Hotel is old but services are good »

Don't expect a fabulous room, as to decor. My room was very average as to looks. However the bed was comfortable, sheets were clean and crisp. Air conditioning was great, since I like to snuggle under covers. Nice Keurig coffee maker. Quiet with the sort of breakfast you'd expect, as in most hotels. Room costs are in my view expensive. But you might find bargain prices on other sites that search for best prices. I did. Which might mean I didn't get the 'best' room. Who knows. Still I would stay there again.

« Stay in the neighborhood »

The Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace is a wonderful place to stay in Chicago if you want to live like a local. The location in the Lakeview East neighborhood puts you close to shops and restaurants, Boystown or Wrigley Field, whichever you prefer (or both!) and a short walk to Lake Michigan. Being up north feels like you live there. We walked to Lincoln Park one afternoon and enjoyed the Conservatory and the Zoo. The hotel suites are like small apartments (ask for the annex). I've stayed here several times, and will always think of this place first when I want to be near family and friends.

« Great spot to see marathon »

Small but comfortably appointed room. Hotel halls and lobby seem somewhat worn down. A bit pricey. Parking available for $40 for 24 hours. The Chicago marathon route was in front of hotel and so it was easy to be a part of the buzz.

    « Pleasant surprise! »

My oldest friend got tix to the cubs game and flew me to Chicago for the game. My first time in Chicago or at a Best Western and I was pleasantly surprised in every way... well except that the Cubs lost. Rooms were modern. The hotel actually installed an Alexa alarm clock when we were there which was super cool to try out. Nice complimentary breakfast got me my caffeine fix in the morning. Lots of restaurants in the area. Front desk staff was helpful and directed us to a good Mexican restaurant just nearby. Wish the Cubs won, but otherwise a great visit!

« Dated building but few competitors in area »

Got a room facing a noisy street (Broadway). WiFi was a little sketchy at times. Good location for the neighborhood, but a little pricy for a dated building. Bed was not so comfortable. Breakfast food was pretty decent, though seating was hard to come by.

    « Great Location but.... »

We were in town for the Chicago Marathon so the location could not be beat, especially as many hotels downtown were booked months in advance. Room was small and clean but in need of attention. Sink was cracked, desk chair was in need of replacement and one of the shutters was missing a handle. Due to room size, the refrigerator and HVAC unit were extraordinarily loud and made it impossible to sleep, such that we turned off the air and unplugged the fridge.

    2
« Unfriendly staff and poorly maintained »

When we checked in, we had to wait 5 minutes while the check-in clerk completed a personal call. He never apologized nor made us feel welcomed. The whole experience was that way. An Air Conditioner so noisy that you could not run it and sleep, dirty glass-ware in the bathroom, a bathroom door that did not close properly and a dirty hot tub. Overall, the hotel needs some work from the top management down.

« Very quiet suburban hotel close to everything »

I stayed here for 10 nights in late Sept - early Oct for leisure. While I was looking for a centrally located hotel bear everything Chicago has to offer I especially wanted something close to Wrigley field to take in a couple Cubs games. This hotel is in Lakeview East/Boystown and about a 10 minute walk to the stadium. It is primarily a quiet suburban community of apartments and small shops with a supermarket next door and Walgreen's/CVS/Osco locations all over; as well as eateries from fast casual to more formal sit-down, coffee shops, bars, hair salons/barbershops, fitness clubs, etc... You name it, it's all in walking distance. As I said, it's about five or so minutes up Broadway to Addison, then another five minutes or so over to Clark and you are at Wrigley Field and all the excitement of Wrigleyville during a pennate race. Also about five or so minutes walk due East to the shores of Lake Michigan. For attractions longer than a walk, if you don't want to use trains or busses, an Uber or Lyft ride is between a 10-25 minute ride to almost anywhere you would want to go. For the hotel itself, there is a main building which has the front desk, fitness room, sauna, heated whirlpool, and business center which features complementary computers and printers. There is also a second unattached building with a secure entry. Both buildings feature a daily complementary breakfast till about 10am (cold cereals, instant oatmeal, fresh cinnamon rolls, bagels, muffins, juice, coffee, tea, cocoa, sausage links or bacon dripping in fat, make-your-own waffles, fruit, etc...) A few tables to eat but most guests take it to their room. My room was a king suite featuring a sleeping area, kitchen, bathroom, and living area. The bed was comfortable with four pillows and another two available in the closet. I could never to get the radio to work on the clock radio and the clock doesn't illuminate. The windows of the room do open and there is a ceiling fan over the bed. The AC/Heating did a fine job cooling but didn't seem to do much for warming. My kitchen had a sink, microwave, moderate refrigerator, dishwasher with detergent, dishwashing liquid and a cloth, but no drying rack, and two gas burners. No oven!, so be careful if you buy something at the market that needs to be kept frozen or needs an oven. It came supplied with the basics you would need in a kitchen but I would suggest a sharp knife and a bottle opener (there was a corkscrew). Also two bottles of water daily. For the bathroom, it was very nice, even though the toilet is in the same space as the double sinks and the shower. There were plenty of towels of various sizes, soap for the sink and the shower, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. These were all fully stocked daily whether you used them or not. The shower was larger and seemed to hold its water well, both a hand-held unit and overhead rain showerhead. All of the water seemed to heat up and cool down quickly without fluctuating except for the kitchen sink, as you turn it on at very low pressure it is cool, but as you increase the pressure/flow, the heat also increases. The living space featured a couch (which can turn into a bed) with a coffee table. Also a work area with a chair and desk/counter. Large flat screen tv which is situated so you can watch it in the living area or in bed. Confusing way to access shows as if you want to watch channel 15, you have to punch in 15-1. Not that big a deal as I wasn't there to sit in the room and watch tv. My major problem I have, which I can't legally blame this hotel for in my case, is this. The bed linens and towels seemed to have quite a preponderance of chlorine-like chemicals. My eyes were fine before I travelled to Chicago and stayed here, and since I've returned they have recovered, but during my stay my eyes were red and burning, I used some OTC eye drops which worked for a while but the irritation soon returned so much so one day I went to an Urgent Care center and got some Rx eye drops. I don't know if it was just allergens in Chicago I wasn't used to, but that 'chlorine' smell certainly contributed. I've never experienced that before. It also seems no one else was. Maybe it was just me. Another item of concern was some noises which seemed to repeat all the time; something like machinery turning on and eventually off, like a motor or AC compressor, maybe my windows were near where this stuff was located. Annoying. I fully enjoyed this hotel for its location, amenities, and reasonable prices.

« Close to Wrigley Field »

This hotel is clean & comfortable & perfectly situated to Wrigley field and Lakeshore Drive. Breakfast was well stocked each morning & apples on the counter to grab as you walked out for the day. I had a great stay and will be back!

    3
    « Needs Improvement »

Overall average to below average. A bit noisy on street side rooms, hard beds, rusty fixtures in shower, breakfast adequate and basic, good location in that part of town near ball field, but pricey for what you get. I might stay in the city next time for lass money and more amenities and easily take a hired car to that area.

    « Hidden Gem »

Great place to stay. we will go back soon...loved the overall expierence to the Cubs game. we walked to everything. safe secure parking rooms were spotless and well decorated and very quiet. my only personal issue was the mattress was too hard.

« Great location for Wrigley Field »

Overall a really good hotel and perfect location for the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Good room and housekeeping was excellent. Room location in the hotel Annex was not explained at check in but only minor gripe. Bottles of water in the room were a nice touch - loads of nice places to grab a meal nearby on Broadway and Clark Street. Overall excellent and would definitely recommend it.

    « Great Wrigleyville Hotel »

The hotel staff is very friendly & helpful with any questions. The room was clean, had a comfortable bed & medium sized mini fridge, & very hot water!!! It's perfectly located for anyone looking to be close to Wrigley or any north side area (only hotel I could find in area). You can easily walk to Wrigley, to lots of great restaurants & bars, & to the path along the lakefront.

« Good location and nice staff »

Everyone was very friendly and worked to assist where needed. Property is convenient and really the only choice in the immediate area. Thankfully it is well kept and went through somewhat of a renovation over the last few years. Cleaning staff did a great job on the rooms. Breakfast is typical continental you get at most hotels, nothing special. Would not have a problem staying here in our next visit.

    4
« While they have a few maintenence issues they are very accomodating. »

I believe the out of order ice machine that is the only one in the hotel building proper may be an issue they can work on. There is an ice machine in the annex next door and housekeepers have said on request they will go fetch you some ice. Maintenance responded relatively quickly to my report of my room's coffee maker not working, and failing to fix it, it was replaced. A nice touch was having a microwave in the room which I used to heat up my chicken soup from Rosati's. The included breakfast was tasty and the coffee strong.

    « Amazing Boutique Hotel »

I recently visited a friend in Chicago. Based on our plans for my visit, he suggested the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace for its location. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The location was perfect! I live in southern Wisconsin and take the METRA commuter train to Chicago. I got off at the Irving Park station and took a CTA route 80 (Broadway) bus to Broadway. After walking just a few blocks, I found the hotel. It couldn't have been easier. The hotel is very unique. It does not have the feel of a chain hotel. It most definitely qualifies as a cozy, boutique hotel. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. Without me asking, they assigned me an upgraded room. It was a two bedroom suite, since my friend was staying with me. The room had a full kitchen including a two-burner stove. I have had apartments that were smaller than that hotel suite! It had a very cozy, comfortable feel. The beds were incredibly comfortable. With my lower back problems, a good bed is crucial. There are many nice restaurants and businesses in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. Starbucks was located next door. All of the fun on Halsted Street was just a short walk away. Now that I know where the hotel is and how easy it is to get there from the Irving Park METRA station, I will definitely make the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace my "go to" place on my future visits to Chicago.

    « worst hotel ever »

The outside of the hotel presented nicely, but from the lobby on in, the hotel just stunk. Carpets, hallways, and even the unswept and nasty stairwells--it all just stunk. The room itself was small, the reading lamp above the bedside was broken off and just hanging, the floors hadn't been mopped in who knows how long (I mopped up an accidental spill and the towel turned black, that's how I know that), and there was grass growing in thru the bottom of the outside windows. The tub was nasty, as if never cleaned between guests, and the wall heater was turned on, blowing hot air throughout the room--I even had to get someone come to the room twice to turn it off and turn the A/C on (since it was in the high 80's that day). The ONE ice machine in the hotel was naturally on some other floor. And parking? Oh, yes, the old $40-garage-next-door-add-on-trick that they forgot to mention in my reservation conformation. Naturally, I tried to address these issues at the front desk. The various clerks listened, but I was apparently a bother to them. For instance, when, as a courtesy, I reported the broken wall lamp to them (after I had to go get someone to fix the heater and A/C) I was informed that since the bellman hadn't noticed any broken lamps when he had first come to the room, it must have been me who broke it! I mean, why would I have mentioned it at all if I had been the culprit! You should have seen the clerk's blank stare elicited by my describing how nasty the floor in my room was. Is that how you treat your guests? That was a first for me! By the time I checked out, the bill for my $297 SENIOR "DISCOUNTED" room had swollen to around $400. This was truly insult to injury. I will never make this mistake again. I promise you. Sirs, with all due respect, it is an absolute disgrace that Best Western bills this hotel as a "Plus". I have stayed in Best Western Plus hotels before, and I think somebody had to have gotten a payoff somewhere along the line to give this stink hole that upgrade moniker. In fact, this hotel is not a "Best" anything.

    « Perfect Experience »

This hotel provided a stay in the perfect location for my needs including off-street parking at a price that was affordable to me. A grab-and-go breakfast was provided also. The location was a safe neighborhood with access to businesses that were open 24-hours.

    « Great Location »

This hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to Wrigley Field. There is parking right next to the hotel which is convenient although you pay for it. The rooms have wood floors instead of carpeting which I love. It is an older hotel that has been remodeled. The rooms are spacious but the entry area and breakfast area are small but who cares as you are not in those areas of the hotel much. There is a nice courtyard out front to sit. We will stay here again.

« Perfect quaint location for a visit to Wrigley Field »

We were just in Chicago stopping over for 1 night and wanted to take in a Cubs Game. This hotel was highly recommended for it service and its proximity to Wrigley Field. It did not disappoint. We had a little trouble getting out of town due to Hurricanes and actually cancelled our reservation. Once we found a flight out I called the hotel and explained my situation. Without a second thought they reinstated my reservation. It was such a relief. Then upon our late arrival they were so friendly giving us directions and assurance of safely to the field, which was a very pleasant and safe 5 block walk. On top of that they upgrade our room. Everyone was so kind and the hotels is well maintained and manicured. The room was very stylish and large. It was a very comforting and welcome retreat. If you need/want a quiet retreat while visiting Chicago this is it.

« Great location. Boutique style not your typical Best Western »

This location is more of a boutique style hotel and is a great neighborhood location. Very convenient to great restaurants and shopping. Lots of good choices near by plus never waited longer than 4 minutes for an Uber ride from this location

    « Great Experience »

The ivy growing up the outside walls of the hotel make it seem rustic and quaint but the rooms are newly renovated (the walk in shower and rain shower head are fantastic!) and very nice. The staff is helpful and friendly. And the hotel is located in a clean neighborhood only a short walk to Wrigley Field. Plus the expansive availability of diverse restaurants and bars; perfect location!

« Close to Wrigley and Lake Michigan »

We were able to park the car and not pick it up until we left the city. Pluses - nice room, pet friendly and great breakfast. Minuses - $40 additional parking fee and there was not a single working ice machine in the hotel.

We can thoroughly recommend this hotel. the staff are friendly and efficient. The location is very convenient for public transport and local attractions. We have always stayed down-town previously but we enjoyed this location much more.

« The most beautiful hotel in Chicago »

There aren't enough words to describe how beautiful, well keep, and friendly this place is. Don't bother looking any further if coming to Chicago. The surrounding amineties are amazing! Everything is within walking distance from the hotel. If a beautiful friendly place is where you are wanting to stay- absolutely don't look any further.

    « Outstanding Location »

We were in town for a baseball trip and to visit Wrigley Field for the first time. The location was perfect and was an easy walk to the field and to the waterfront. We were on a budget as we spent a fortune on tickets and we could walk to grocery, 24 hr store, bus stop and we would return again. Hotel had great breakfast included with options for everyone.

« Best Western Hawthorne Terrace »

My partner and two friends of mine stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that had a pull-out couch in August/17 over the Northalstead Market Days weekend.. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. All of staff on duty that weekend, including housekeeping, were very nice. We took advantage of their free breakfast every day. In fact, I always stay at this hotel when I'm in Chicago if I can.

« The PERFECT Chicago Stay! »

I was incredibly pleased with my stay at the Best Western Hawthorn Terrace. Jordan helped me with my bags when I arrived, was extremely helpful and kind in answering questions, and even helped give some neighborhood recommendations. The hotel itself is set back from the over-crowded touristy areas, so you actually feel like you are in a neighborhood - which I loved, esp. since it felt quiet/relaxing. The room was beautifully appointed - and my dog, Bowie was also welcome and treated very nicely. There's a fantastic little dog beach within walking distance, too, so this place is a great find for those traveling with their dog. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and very much look forward to my trip back. Over the past several years, I've tried at least 7 different hotels in Chicago, five-star hotels among them, and this has honestly been my favorite. No need to look for any other place on my next visit.

« Friendly, quaint little boutique feeling hotel, gorgeous courtyard at night »

Friendly front counter staff (thanks Chas!) - helpful - we requested a feather free room and manager informed all pillows are hypo-allergenic, which is great for us with allergy / asthma issues. However, when we arrived to check in, we asked for a pet-free room only to find out that the entire hotel is 'pet-friendly' - which in the case of this hotel means NO room is kept off limits from pets staying at the hotel - this is very BAD for allergy / asthma sufferers. most 'pet friendly' hotels will allow pets in only certain specified rooms so that those with allergies / asthma can stay in pet-free rooms - this hotel apparently does not adopt this approach, which makes things potentially dangerous with individuals with these health concerns. However, we were told the hotel 'deep-cleans' each room after a pet stays in the room This must be true as we did not get particularly ill or react despite the fact that clearly pets had stayed in our room. The Courtyard in the front of charming and ivy on the old building facade is beautiful. Free breakfast included is great if you're headed to the ballpark. Very nice walk to Wrigley - even with some mobility issues, we made it within 20 minutes. Ann Sather breakfast joint across the street has amazing food and service. A little Thai Place called "Cozy" on the walk back from WRigley to the hotel has amazing food at very reasonable (cheap!) prices and is a place everyone should visit as it is very unique with Pez toys and bobble-heads covering all the walls. Mia Francesca is a great Italian restaurant on North Clark near the hotel. Neighbourhood is Wrigleyville / Boystown cusp - very gay positive environment - wonderful neighbourhoods to talk with lovely bars and a great gelato place as well as indie coffee roasters and book-shops. Overall a wonderful stay to take in ball games at Wrigley. Thanks for everything.

« This place has character! »

I stayed at Hawthorne Terrace for three nights, and wish I could have stayed longer. Great location if you don't want to drive much. Each day we easily walked to the lake and great restaurants, then strolled to Wrigley for some great concerts. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the room, while small, was more than comfortable for the two of us.

We stayed here when our daughter attended orientation at DePaul and were very happy with our rooms. They upgraded us to a suite, and the rooms were very nice. The staff were very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was good. Also in a nice neighborhood, with good restaurants a short walk away.

My second stay here while I attended a couple of Cubs games. This stay was much better than the last for some reason. Comfortable room, good complimentary hot breakfast, and excellent location. Friendly front counter staff. This is an older establishment and is not extravagant but it serves the purpose. Prices are a bit steep.

    « great hotel! »

Great hotel, close to Wrigley Field! Close to downtown, great location, convenient parking right next door. Clean rooms, great free breakfast, would stay here again with the family. We received a free upgrade to a suite and really enjoyed the extra room!

« Excellent Value and service »

The Hawthorne was very nice. Exactly as described on line. The front desk and housekeeping were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was offered every morning, pastries were fresh, choice of juice, freshly brewed coffee and eggs with bacon or sausage and self made waffles. Great location. Thank you for a nice get away.

« Great Value for the Price in Boystown »

If you're looking for a clean, well located LGBTQ-friendly hotel, this is a great option. The friendly and helpful staff will make your stay overall very nice. Hotel has a welcoming, boutique vibe with a nice outdoor area in front where you can eat your breakfast. Nice fitness room, too.

« Really nice place, very friendly staff. »

We were visiting our daughter and after a few days decided to give her a break and stay at a hotel. It was a spur of the moment booking. The price was low for Chicago so I was very pleased when we got there and it had an adorable courtyard. The staff was happy and made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean & quiet. When we were leaving the maid was in the hall, all smiles she thanked us for staying and said she hoped we'd visit again. We would stay there again without question.

« Terrific gem of a hotel in a great neighborhood location »

This hotel has grown beyond its early-days character of a cheap motel, and is now a fine little hotel, clean and comfortable. The rooms vary quite a bit, as the hotel has taken over an adjoining apartment building: Our last suite had a private bedroom, an open "bedroom" (possibly the former dining room?) and a living space, all with king-size sleeping accommodations. The room did not face onto the street in front but instead had large windows on all three sleeping areas -- and also had three large flat-screen tv sets. And there was a kitchenette as well. The street in front was torn up (sewer installation for the entire street) so that part was not very attractive, but the room was very comfortable and reasonably quiet. We also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast; in addition, there is a good supermarket just two doors north -- very convenient, especially since we were on non-local eating schedules <g>. All in all, while not cheap, this hotel is very fine.

« Clean, classy, 10 min walk to Wrigley »

This hotel is very nice. Has a nice "Chicago feel" without paying the ridiculous prices on the mag mile. The room was clean and classy. Hardwood floors, 42' LCD tv, larger size mini fridge, keurig brewer with k-cups in the room, breakfast included in stay. Grab a piece of fruit when you check in. Staff was very helpful before booking and after. The lobby and patio are both very nice areas to eat breakfast or relax. Hotel wifi never felt laggy, even while watching streaming vids. Garage Valet Parking was $40 at the lot right next door. Attendant always on duty. Typical to pay for parking in Chicago, but this parking was $10-$20 less than on the Mag Mile. Girdano's delivers to the hotel, in case you don't feel like venturing out. We stayed here for the triple rain delay Cubs game on 8/3/2017, walked to wrigley and back. Easy stroll through pretty busy areas, I never felt unsafe. We will stay here again, really enjoyed our stay.

    « Expensive Ok Hotel »

I wanted something nice for the night I was in town. I liked this location because it was close to Briar Street Theater because I went to see The Blue Man Group. The hotel itself looked nice and had an upscale feel. I had booked a king suite and was expecting something nice judging by the pictures. What I got was an ok looking room that looked like it should have been half or less than the price I paid. But, because it was only one night and I had a busy evening, I just went with it. I didn't try breakfast, nor did I use any of the amenities so I can't rate them. Also, the AC really didn't work very well, I couldn't get the room below 78. I was just disappointed by the price and what I got, but I suppose that's expected in an area relatively close to downtown Chicago.

    3
« Good use of small space »

There is no unloading space and no bellboy or help for luggage, and a cumbersome winding paved path to push cart. Not good for handicapped or someone with much luggage that can't just be pulled in. However, the hotel is in good condition. Ours had a hardwood floor, good for my asthma. Tastefully decorated, clean, and good use of small space. There are larger rooms that can accommodate a family. Microwave and small fridge. On top (fourth) floor there is a small view across a big roof. The room was quiet, and had a nice TV and bathroom. A half block away there was a full service grocery with a nice salad bar. Breakfast is off first floor lobby and was well done: bacon, folded over egg, boiled eggs, great assortment of pastries, cold and hot cereals, bottled water and juices, coffee, waffle maker. But it was crowded and a small amount of seating in lobby. Breakfast from 7-10, best to go by 9. We saw one small elevator that guests and staff used. It was not inexpensive, but it was close to Wrigley Field, an .8 mile walk.

« Expensive and not worth it. »

Have stayed at this hotel many time and love the location and staff. However, over the years, they've increased their price due to the location near the ball park. While service is great, the maintenance on the building is not. I suspect many folks write great review, because of the staff...which I would normally do, but honestly, not worth paying some much for a basic room.

    « Fabulous Location - Boutique Hotel »

Terrific service at this small boutique hotel. So much character with front courtyard for breakfast and hardwood floor in suite. Love the neighborhood - and walking distance to Wrigley, yet not in the tacky Wrigley neighborhood.

« solid place to stay »

stayed here 4 nights recently and found it to be fine . I was here to explore the city and this was a pretty good location. Maybe a little pricey, but I'm sure if you were right in the downtown area it would be a lot more. They do not have a lot of space in this hotel for breakfast area, but it's got everything you need-waffle-maker,egg parties, bacon, plus fruits, cereal, pastries, etc.The employees were helpful and friendly. I didn't have a car but there is a garage next door. It's actually a cool neighborhood if you walk a ways and explore. Easy enough walk to catch a bus to go downtown area, where a lot of the attractions are. Right now there is a lot of work going on in the street in front of them with changing of water pipes, so it was a little dusty for sitting outside.

The staff at this hotel greets you warmly when you arrive, eager to help you find great treats around the neighborhood. The facility was clean and at breakfast the cinnamon rolls are not to be missed. While not in downtown Chicago, this hotel is an easy walk to Wrigley Stadium, and a slightly longer walk to the Zoo. Would definitely stay here again!

« Great hotel, great staff, fantastic location »

Loved everything about the hotel. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so they upgraded us to a suite for the same price. Parking is right next door and very convenient, 10 minute walk to Wrigley and a quick walk to the lake. Friendly neighborhood, great coffee shops nearby, and I felt really safe walk back from Wrigley at night. It's my new go to hotel for the north side!!

« Suite for the weekend »

The hotel is interesting. I guess it was 2 residential buildings made into a hotel. It's in a popular residential area. The street is full of great restaurants and shops. We were able to walk to many places and took an Uber to others. Construction was going on in the street in front of the hotel; but it didn't really affect us. We were in the 2nd section, with an elevator and breakfast area. You had to go outside to access the main lobby. Breakfast is served in each section, so you don't have to go to the main lobby. We had a suite. One king bed in an open area, one king bed in a closed bedroom, a sleeper sofa and kitchenette. Beautiful bathroom with a walk in shower! Highly recommend this hotel!

« Great Hotel !! Amzing service. The ultimate place to host your family who are visiting you in Chicago »

We live in Lakeview Chicago, IL and our family came to visit us and Chicago for 2 weeks. Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel is the best place to host your family/friends. It is an hotel but make you feel like home. My family had such a great time staying in this place and actually was one of the main success factors for an happy pleasant visit. All the hotel's staff from the manager, Mauricio and each team member we/my family contacted, are so kind, responsive, willing to help, always with a smile and will make sure to do above and beyond to make the stay amazing. The service is great!! Rooms are very clean and spacious. There is a nice decent breakfast everyday. The rates are fare comparing to the rates of the rooms in downtown, and they also offer a special rate for guests which are friends/relatives of families who lives in Lakeview neighborhood. During this period of the year there are some constructions in Broadway (the street which the hotel is located). Before my family arrived I contacted Mauricio (the manger) asking him about the impact/noise from the street. Immediately he told me that he will reserve them a quiet room not facing the street and also he upgraded them into a bigger room without any additional charge. This is what I'm calling a super service !! This is the 3rd time during the last 12 months my family is vising us and each time they stayed in this hotel. Each one of the visits where great. We highly recommend this place!

« Decent hotel with friendly staff »

The staff was nice. The location is good if this is the part of town you need to be in. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. I really had no complaints. The reason for 3 stars is because it is a Best Western. It's not the Ritz so if that's what you want you should not stay here. But considering what it is it lived up to every expectation and exceeded most.

We are picky about where we stay and we couldn't have been more pleased. Outstanding service. Great location. Awesome rainfall shower and luxury surroundings. Great breakfast that was good enough for even my husband! The only downfall was the couch. It was worn out, uncomfortable and tattered. the room itself was done with high quality materials but the couch looked like something someone would set out on the curb.

    « Great little hotel »

This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. Our taxi driver from O'Hare informed us on arrival that this area is a well known gay hangout. To be honest, this was not a problem although there was plenty of evidence of Rainbow flags, bars and establishments. I suppose that is why it may be called Boys Town. The hotel was fantastic, to the point that my partner rated it as the best of the 13 hotels we used between Chicago and Santa Monica. The only slight downside is that there was no bar in the hotel, but there are plenty bars and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. As previous reviews state, Wrigley Field and Belmont Metro station are also well within easy walking distance too. See pictures of the rooms which were kitted out with plenty of facilities including; coffee maker, microwave, fridge, hair dryer, telephone, free WiFi, twin beds and a very large bathroom/wet room. The staff were excellent, welcoming and extremely friendly. Breakfast is extensive with loads of choice from fresh fruit, pastries, eggs and bacon, waffle maker, fruit juice and lashings of good quality free coffee. What a great find and I could readily recommend this Best Western. There is nearby buses into Town, which can be found at North Shore Drive, and all for a couple of dollars ($2.50) per person, an absolute bargain. There is also a pleasant outside patio seating garden at the front of the hotel, set back from the street (Broadway). Would easily recommend this hotel if staying in the North Chicago area, especially if you wanted to take in a Cubs Baseball game.

North end of Chicago. Our first trip. Walking distance to the lake, Wrigley Field and a lot of great restaurants and bars. Nice front patio area. For the money I would definitely stay there again.

    « Five Star Servie »

As a "Seasoned Hotelier" I am a little particular when I book a hotel, especially in a larger metropolitan area. After booking at the Hawthorne, I was a little apprehensive, however that all changed once I arrived at the Hotel. Not only was the service top notch professional, but everyone we encountered working had a smile on their face, and was always ready to go the extra mile. The young man at the Front Desk was cordial, and knew so much about the area. The Housekeepers were all attentive, and on a Sunday to find the General Manager working on such a busy weekend, was pretty unusual in this business. We thank the entire Team for going the extra mile. Keep up the good work.

My husband and I enjoyed the BW Hawthorne Terrace Hotel. We liked the front courtyard area that was set off from the street. Eating breakfast outside under the umbrella was a pleasant experience during our first morning there. The breakfast room was quite small but many food and drink options were available. The cinnamon rolls and muffins were exceptional. I liked the fresh fruit and complimentary water. Our room was an adequate size, well appointed, and quite clean. Wrigley Field was within walking distance.

« Just what we were looking for »

We were in town for a short stay. We chose this hotel to be close to family and to Wrigley park ? only six or seven blocks away. The neighborhood has a cool vibe ? a mixture of families and young adults. Hotel room was clean, comfortable and modern. There are lots of restaurants, nail salons, etc. on the street. To get downtown we took an Uber and that cost us $13. Coming back we hopped on the train and it took us right to Wrigley Field in 20 minutes. Perfect.

« Comfortable hotel in good walking neighborhood »

This Best Western is similar in concept to the Best Western Georgetown Suites in Washington, so my review will be more of a comparison, have stayed at Georgetown twice. Unlike the Georgetown location, the suites at Richmond Heights do not have separate rooms with doors separating them and they are smaller, was a little disappointed. The free breakfast was about the same and the wifi connection worked well with a decent speed. Parking is very convenient at an adjacent garage, priced reasonably for a major city. Like the Georgetown one, this BW is in a good walking neighborhood, felt very safe and there are many restaurants and other stores withing easy walking distance. The location is a bit away from the downtown attractions, but they are only about a half hour drive away, except at rush hour. There was a lot of construction on N. Broadway, but our suite on the 4th floor was very quiet, fewer emergency vehicles at night than usual for a city. The room was very bright, great in the day, but not great for late sleepers. There were no drapes and the louvers let a lot of light in in the morning. The A/C worked very well on 90+ degree days. Not sure if I would return to this location, found it not up to what I expected based on the Georgetown BW Plus. The front desk staff was mostly friendly with the occasional brusque person, never unfriendly, just not as welcoming as you expect for the hospitality sector. Housekeeping staff was efficient and unobtrusive, always came back to a clean room with re-stocked water bottles.

« Great Stay in Wrigleyville »

Our family of four stayed here for just one night to go to at Cubs game. This hotel is just a few blocks from Wrigley - very easy to get to. Check in was very easy and efficient. Rooms look to have been recently renovated as everything appeared new. Very comfortable beds and air conditioning worked well. Very quiet stay on the second floor - heard nothing all night. Decent hot breakfast with muffins, cereal, toast, waffles, sausage and eggs with juice. No restaurant or bar on site but lots within walking distance - we are at the Mexican restaurant just across the street and a half block to the north. It was great. Would definitely stay here again when wanting to be in wrigley. Parking was valet at $40 I believe.

« Great neighborhood location! Helpful, Friendly Staff »

Really had the feel of being in a Chicago neighborhood. The entrance from the street was beautifully landscaped and included several tables where you could eat your breakfast, weather permitting. The lobby, while nice, was rather small and the high top tables were not accessible for my 90 year old mother, so the courtyard seating was perfect (as was the weather). The valet parking garage immediately next door was most convenient, as were the row of small eateries on the other side of the hotel. The room was very nice - especially the flooring. The beds were a little high, high enough that my 4'10" mother needed a one-step stool (that we use to get intro my van) as well as a boost to make it into bed. Note -- we did NOT ask for a handicap-accessible room. The beds were also very comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate with a choice of pre-made egg omelettes, sausage links, a wide variety of breads and sweets, waffle batter to make your own, yogurt, instant oatmeal, fresh fruit and an array of drinks. The staff was continuously restocking and cleaning. Staff was great. Chase got us booked in -- a little confusing since I was the "second" room and not actually the person who made the booking -- and was quick to help anything. Likewise with the room servicing -- the girl who took care of our room even made up the bed the way I slept in it, with the blanket and covers folded double on one sleeping side -- and stopped me in the hall to make sure that the way she had fixed was the way I wanted it! I really liked the location -- away from the feel of downtown. You could sit outside in the early evening and watch all the locals walking to and from their various destinations. During the day you could visit the hustle, bustle and traffic of the city!

« Lovely Spot in Lakeview »

I now stay at this hotel when I visit my son in Lakeview. The rooms are large and comfortable and the breakfast is much better than most included breakfasts. If you like cinnamon rolls, you are in luck! Even the coffee was good. The location is great, close to public transportation. There is a parking garage next door with "reduced" rates (with in and out privileges) for hotel guests, but at $40/day, I still prefer searching for on street neighborhood parking! There is also a very accommodating pet policy if you are traveling with a four-legged friend in this very pet friendly neighborhood.

    « Awesome Customer Service »

Our sons wedding was scheduled in Chicago over the June 3rd weekend. Given everything going on the city (Medical Convention, Cubs vs Cards, U2 concerts) hotels were tougher to find. We booked a block of rooms at the Best Western Plus as it was the only hotel in close proximity of the church and reception. We weren't familiar with it but given the location took a gamble. The gamble paid off- it's an older boutique style hotel with two buildings and a small courtyard in the front. Parking if you drive is next door in a garage and at $40 per day seems expensive but it's secure and convenient. The staff at the hotel was awesome and really provided outstanding service to all the guests and worked with my wife throughout the process. If a problem arose they took care of it quickly and to everyone's satisfaction. They provide a continental breakfast which has some nice items on it. There are also many restaurants to choose from within blocks if you are walking. 5-10 minute walk to Wrigley Field and the bars surrounding. It's location was the initial attraction but we'd go back for the customer service which was 5 star!!

    « Great location »

Location is very handy for Wrigley Field and local sites. We stayed in a king suite with 2 king beds, pullout, and kitchenette. It was more than enough room for 4 adults. Staff is very helpful and courteous. Parking is expensive at $40 per night and suites are over $400 during Cubs games. Fortunately I was able to use points. I highly recommend this hotel.

« Nice Quiet Place to Stay within walking distance to Wrigley Field »

Hotel was nice and quaint with a lot of amenities. Breakfast was great and the complimentary coupons to local restaurants were nice. We went for business, but walked to Wrigley Field during some downtime and ate at Murphy's Bleachers. Rooms were nice and spacious with up to date electronics and fixtures.

« Perfect location, great stay »

We stayed at this hotel over a long weekend. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were perfect. We had a small room with king bed, small chair and desk. Plenty of room for the 2 of us. They have a small bar with coffee maker, microwave and small refrigerator. They provide dishes and silverware if you want to run down the street to the grocery store and eat in for some meals. The bathroom is huge. Rain shower. This hotel is in walkable distance to everything! We went down a few blocks to the lake, and zoo. We also were able to walk to the Cub's game. The neighborhood is safe, even walking home after the night game. So many restaurants and stores next door and within a couple of blocks. We regretted we rented a car. That was pricey ($40/day)to park and we only used it to go to and from the airport. We can't wait to go back again.

    « Bucket List »

My wife and I are retired and are big baseball fans so one of our bucket list items was to take in some road trip games following our favorite team and the first game we chose was against the Cubs and we always wanted to see Wrigley Field. We wanted a hotel within walking distance that is safe and close to restaurants and bars in the area. The Hawthorn Terrace met all our requirements and expectations and I would highly recommend it to any baseball fan looking for a similar experience.

« Great Place to Stay and close to Metro concert venue, Wrigley Field, Navy Pier, Chicago riverwalk. Great restaurants »

Very good location if you are going to a concert at Metro or a ball game at Wrigley field. Very good restaurant close and within walking distance to Lake Michigan. Tennis courts are close and within walking distance at the Waveland Park.

« Great location, complete breakfast »

We stay at BWP HP for 2 nights. The location is super nice. Right in between Boystown and Lakeview area, it offers a variety of restaurants mexican, mediterrean, vietnamise, japanese and some local Jersey's subs! You ll be able to find a coffee, bakery or deli in every corner starting in Roscoe and N Broadway!. The staff was nice and knew perfectly ervrything around the area! Chas welcome us and recommend us activities and places for dinner close! The hotel is big and rooms are spacious. Desk to work, keurig machine and bottle water all the time! We had a standard.room.that exit to an ally but maybe if you pick another room you have a bettee view. Cleaness in the room was some what dissapointing; first night we found a piece of glass on the floor [not cool to be found in your feet] and second night our sink was clogged, suddenly water stop running, the floor was also sticky, we dont know if was the wood on it or something else. So we will ask for the hotel a little bit more attention to detail. Breakfast was super good! Big variety, toast, waffles, sausage, eggs and all kind of juices and the best? You can grab it and take it out in the terrace ;) to enjoy some sun. We feel price is a little overrated compare to the rooms you have but.location is super nice.

« Great place and great people »

Love coming to Chicago and this place makes it special every time i visit. Rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. If you want a great hotel in a really cool neighborhood of Chicago this is your place. The area of restaurants are diverse and unique.

    « Does the job »

No frills are to be expected from this well situated reasonably priced hotel, but it gets the job very well done without any major flaws. My suite at the annex was extremely spacious, with a luxury bathroom (great water pressure!), and it had a kitchen that would make it ideal for longer stays.

    « excellent hotel & location »

we loved our stay at the Hawthorne Terrace Hotel! The location was perfect - the area was very safe - many people walk around in the evening - nice restaurants nearby within walking distance - great stay! thank you

    « Great Stay »

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are well decorated. The beds are comfortable. We did not try the morning breakfast as we loved going across the street to Ann Sather. everyone was very nice and helpful with places to eat in the area.

« Its all about the Cubs!!!! »

If your going to baseball at Wrigley Field Best Western Hawthorne Terrace is in a great location. The neighborhood has many restaurants and bars and is only a 10 minute walk to the ballpark and the Addison St "L" train. Hotel has a friendly staff and a good morning breakfast. Room aren't cheap but in the hotel business its all about "location, location, location!"

    5
    « Stayed for a cubs game »

The hotel was very nice. The staff was very nice. The rooms were very nice and clean. We would definitely stay here again. It was walking distance to the rooftops, and the plenty of restaurants. The view was obstructed.

    4
    « Great Locale ! »

This is a good value, and centrally located to "Boystown" ! The hotel is smaller, and service is good. They could improve their furnishings in rooms, and upgrade their beds. But, overall, a pretty decent value.

« Location is the big draw - some Chicago charm »

For us, we chose the location to be near family. For most it's probably the distance to Wrigley Field. It's walkable yet out of the crowd. We had a good deal of very early morning noise - not sure if it was deliveries or construction, but quite loud, and we were on the top floor. The room was comfortable enough. I'd like better closet arrangements. The room was not spacious but adequate if you weren't spending time there - a consideration in terrible weather. There was free breakfast - ok, decent choice I guess. Weak coffee. Hard for 2 people to take breakfast back to the room and eat together. Only 2 tables in the breakfast area. We did have a fridge, sink, and microwave - did not use them - and a little strange given the lack of eating space. The wifi and my work vpn did not connect. I was glad the shower had a handheld head and not just the rain shower head as I'm not such a fan of those. Towels felt clammy somehow - it was rainy. Style was good. Lots of terrific places to eat nearby - great neighborhood.

    « Great time! »

I took my family on a trip to Chicago and we had a great experience at Best Western Plus. The hotel is really nice. The people are great and we had a wonderful time! The breakfast was better than your typical continental breakfast. I enjoyed our stay!

    2
« Loud, Low Quality, Expensive »

For the price of a suite the value is very poor. We stayed multiple night and housekeeping doesn't even clean the small counter stove in the room. The show head are rusting off the walls. The windows, doors and doors let in too much noise. The breakfast is the same nasty food everyday. Only warm food are eggs and sausage. Not at all worth the price. Could have gotten a much better downtown hotel for the price. Also, last time we stayed here it seemed better but after a second stay I realized how bad it really is - new management may be at fault of there being no wow experience.

    5
    « Perfect quiet night »

Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was spacious, clean and quiet. Location was great. I would not hesitate to stay here again! The unexpected room upgrade was much appreciated after a long and draining day.

    4
« Great service and location »

Good area to walk around in. Plenty of small shops and restaurants nearby plus 10 minute walk to Wrigley. The rooms are no frills but have everything you need. The bed is the downside. It is a bit stiff and lumpy. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is the first Chicago hotel we've stayed in that comped your parking. We will be back soon.

« Hawthorne Best Western Chicago »

Very nice hotel in a nice Chicago neighborhood. Good location to bike ride to Lincoln Park zoo about 1 mile away. Free breakfast was very nice. Enjoyed eating in the lobby area. Courtyard in front of hotel very nice. Zip Cars available at parking structure next to hotel.

    « Excellent »

Hotel is located at a very good location. It's safe and enjoyable to walk along from the hotel and take train to Belmont station. There are Starbucks near to the hotel & restaurants along the way to the hotel.

    « Great location! »

This best western is the best one I have ever stayed at (and we usually stay at a best western when we travel) we walked to Wrigley field. Walked to lake Michigan. Walked to one of the best (& recommended) pizza places in Chicago.

« Excellent stay at Best Western Hawthorne Place »

We had planned to stay in another hotel in Chicago but upon arriving were told they did not accept emotional support dogs (even though this was confirmed before our travel.) We chose Best Western Hawthorne Place because they accepted pets and had an excellent experience. Clean spacious rooms, great breakfast, convenient location and parking was available in a parking garage for an extra fee. Will definitely stay there again.

    4
    « Great location! »

We enjoyed everything about this hotel, including a generous upgrade to a suite so we wouldn't be awakened by construction noise. Good staff, very clean, spacious room, located in the heart of BoyTown, easy walking to lots of fun stuff. My only complaint was the uncomfortable bed.

    3
« Solid hotel in an interesting area »

Nice hotel in a good central area of north Chicago. Near Wrigley Field, on the edge of a gay district called Boystown. Lots of interesting shops and restaurants nearby, easy walking. We were there in April, moderate weather, could have windows open. One weakness was that the fans in the air conditioner/heater in our room needed new bearings-loud enough to wake a lighter sleeper. Staff very pleasant. We share the hotel with a lot of very optimistic Cubs fans coming into town from states away for Opening Night. Garage adjacent is $40/night. Decent breakfast.

« best stay for wrigley »

we have been staying at the hawthorne for 15 years. walking distance to Wrigley and a variety of good food. angelinas, ann sather, Melrose. the Briar theatre with blue man group also a short walk as is Belmont harbor on the lakefront.

« Great location, great amenities, great staff »

Our stay was great. The staff was friendly, Chase at the front desk was very helpful. The breakfast was wonderful with a lot of variety for adults and children. Our girls loved eating breakfast in the courtyard. If you can choose a suite. Our room was clean and spacious. Parking was easy with a ramp next door.

    « Great Family Visit »

    « Great location »

Great Location close to boys town and Wrigley Field , average room - very small, big fluctuations in the temperature and the registers for cooling / heating are noisy and load. Very nice breakfast provided in the cost of the room.

« Great value in the heart of uptown Chicago! »

I wouldn't consider staying somewhere else when I have the Best Western Hawthorne Place! It's been great every time without fail. Very satisfied. If you get the chance to come to Chicago, make sure you come through uptown and lay your head down on a pillow at Best Western :)

« Great place to stay »

Very nice personnel..clean rooms with nice decor only drawback is the garage parking price ...would definitely stay here again...very quiet.. everyone was very helpful even though we arrived early in holding our belongings until our room was available

« Charming hotel and great staff »

This is really a gem of a hotel - so great to have in this location! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great to have parking available right next door. Room showed a bit of wear, but overall extremely good value.

    « Opening Day 2017 »

Stayed here for the opening day Cubs 2017. Great location lots of cool shops around the area and not far from Wrigley. Rooms nice size large bathrooms. Hallways a little dated but overall great place. Nice area outside with tables and chairs to enjoy sights. Very little noise. One of the quietest hotels we have ever stayed at in Chicago. Housekeeping staff was very polite and helpful as well.

    5
« Nice place to stay »

Looks like newly remodeled and well maintained. Staff is friendly. Nice breakfast variety. In a great location for Bus (#146 express) and train access to Downtown Chicago. Also in a safe neighborhood with shopping and restaurants local.

    2
« Okayish hotel with joke of a breakfast! »

Only pro is that it is affordable with spacious rooms.Other than that it has a very dated feel and requires a revamp. Breakfast is a joke with hardly anything to eat and more importantly nowhere to sit,

    « Great hotel! »

Everyone was friendly. The environment was quiet and inviting. Convenient to dining and shopping. The room was spacious and comfortable. Continental breakfast had some variety including hot and cold selections. We will look forward to future stays.

« Great find for families traveling to Chicago »

This was our second visit to Hawthorne Terrace. This time we had a 1-bedroom suite, in the adjacent building. It was perfect for our family of 4, and the full kitchen is an added plus for those leftovers from the great restaurants in the Lakeview area!

    2
    « This high-end Best Western was a disappointment »

On the "plus" side the staff were genuinely courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and overall pleasant. On the "minus" side The refrigerator in our room did not work so I lost food and bottled drinks. The heating/air conditioning unit in our room was too loud and never turned off. We lost restful sleep. The breakfast included with room charge was average at best. I will not pay almost $300 per night even if the personnel are very good and the location is good.

    5
« A fantastic hotel experience close to Wrigley! »

From booking over the phone (Chase and Cheo) to checking in and checking out, this was one of the BEST hotel experiences I have ever had!... that sounds extreme, but I have to tell you that the amenities provided (the free water in the room, the soft towels, the updated decor, the location, the fresh hot breakfast meats and eggs, the cinammon rolls, the in-room Keurig... it was all terrific. We wanted for nothing. Thank you all for a great Chicago place to roost when we visit our son. We will be back! The Ernzens Phoenix, Arizona

« I expected more for the price i paid »

Pros: Location is near Boystown, and 20min walk to Wrigley Free Breakfast Very Clean Cons: Staff is always "busy" S/C/V Security: There is a card access to enter the building. Exits are clearly marked. Cleanliness: The room was spotless, sheets nice a bright white and soft. Value: So my grand total for my stay was $142. And even with the free Breakfast i still felt it was over priced for a stay. ***As a last minute trip to chicago, i found that if i arrived on Thursday, my flight would be much cheaper. I had originally booked a hilton for my weekend, but oddly the rate would change if i added another day. So i hunted around for a hotel around Wrigley field and Boystown. So this hotel came highly recommended and figured with the money i saved from airfare, i can pay more for a better hotel. Needless to say the hotel is small, the lobby is manned by either 1 or 2 people. The problem i experienced was that it seemed under staffed. I was either told, to wait and ill be with you. or there is a line of people and only 1 FD staff. The room is big, the water closet was huge, nothing out of place. The only thing that I feel was a "added value" was the location. There is a Starbucks at the end of the block, near boys town and 20min walk to Addison Station/Wrigley Field But aside from that, no big wow factor. I don't think the hotel was worth the price i paid. Its a perfectly good run of the mill hotel, but i don't think the price matched up to its value.

« Nice hotel in a great area. »

This is a really cute hotel in a nice area. Our room was very clean and parking was both reasonably priced and easy to access. We received a free upgrade to a king suite. Breakfast was described as continental, and we were pleasantly surprised that some hot items were offered as well. We will definitely stay in this hotel the next time we are in the Chicago area.

    5
« Best in the area »

Top quality service all the way around. I would highly recommend this hotel. Walking distance to everything you would need and short drive to downtown. Restaurants and shops are all along Broadway and your nightlife if interested is on Halstead.

    5
« Great location and greater service »

It was a pleasure, and a surprise, to experience this Best Western gem in Lakeview. Hidden away from the street itself, the entrance and curb appeal are pleasant. The rooms were the real surprise - completely renovated with modern fixtures, wood flooring, and refreshed bathrooms! I have already recommended it to my Chicago area colleagues.

    3
    « It works »

This hotel met the need for somewhere to sleep but I expected better beds for what I paid for the place. I did not sleep well due to the bed not being comfortable. The breakfast was terrible. Some hot items like egg patties and sausage and there were lots of pre-made packaged items available. Staff were nice and greeted me everytime I walked in. The room had a fridge and microwave. There's a grocery store, Starbucks, and several restaurants within a short walking distance, which was nice.

    3
« Fine hotel in an out of the way location »

Friendly and informative staff. Room size, condition and amenities are quite acceptable. I was in for a downtown trade show, and the location here, with great public transportation access, and good food within walking distance made this a great lower priced alternative to the big and expensive hotels downtown.

    « Good hotek »

Good hotel, excellent location. Very nice and helpful staff. Close to the cubs hone, Wrigley field. Go Cubbies!!. That's all I really have to say. Very nice reception area. Breakfast area is too small and gets crowded easily.

    « October, 2016 »

We had a room probably as large as an apartment. There was a refrigerator, microwave and dishes supplied by the hotel which made it nice because there was a grocery store maybe 100 feet away. A nice breakfast was provided each morning you can't go wrong.. There are also nice restaurants within walking distance. The staff provided excellent service. We would definitely stay there again.

    4
« Great location and nice breakfast! »

The hotel is cozy, clean and close to public transportation. The breakfast is hot and tasty. There is usually some free street parking available nearby which is nice if you have a car. Prices are reasonable for the area. I always look to this hotel when coming to Lincoln Park.

    4
    « Great Service! »

I stayed there during the Cubs World Series games. Worked with Cheo McNeal and he was fantastic! Awesome service and great environment. It is conveniently located near Wrigley Field. They are great to work with.

« An okay place to stay with shops, coffee, liquor store and ice-cream places within walking distance. »

Our porter was Chao, who was very helpful in assisting us in checking for bed-bugs before bringing our luggage out of the vinyl-floored bathroom! Room was smallish, but comfortable, with wood flooring planks. Shutters on windows were "just 'okay'" for keeping-out light. (Our room looked right into the well-lit parking garage.) He gave us the recommendation for New Tokyo for dinner--which was also "just 'okay'" and nothing really special. Halloween decorations in courtyard suggest that this IS a "quirky" hotel...with "parts of skeletons", spiders and webs everywhere.

    4
    « Boutique-ish Best Western »

Smallish, 4 floor hotel in Boystown and near Wrigley Field. Put off at first by the lack of luster in the lobby, but the room was clean, neat, and had everything you would expect from a larger more modern hotel...except room service...then again, I don't think room service is expected at any Best Western. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the WiFi worked, there was a small, charming courtyard outside in front of the lobby. The staff was attentive and had no problem with me checking out an hour late. You can walk to lots of local bars, gay or straight, and plenty of restaurants. The gym wasn't extravagant, but it was large enough that it didn't feel like I was exercising in a closet. The gym also has a whirlpool and sauna. As with every Best Western, self service continental breakfast is included. Actually, the breakfast was quite good. Coffee, tea, eggs, yogurt, cereal, bacon, so really a bit better than continental. Probably the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed in. Definitely worth the reasonable price.

    5
« Good location outside the downtown core »

It was a quiet hotel with lots around to enjoy. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Even the cleaning staff went out of there way to be friendly and accommodating. Would go back anytime I am in Chicago.

    5
    « Great Location »

Best hotel in Chicago. I have stayed at all of the 5 Star hotels in Chicago as a businessman beginning in 1966. This hotel has "down-home" real personality and hospitality. Great Staff and covered parking next door. Walking distance to Wrigley Field and at least 6 great restaurants. Many hotels today charge $3 for a single bottle of water, here it is free and unlimited. Best cooked to order hot breakfast, pastries, fruits, newspaper, 24 hour coffee. Super clean and Family friendly.

    5
    « Very nice »

I was very glad to stay at this Best Western Plus. The staff were very friendly, the room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was very good. It's also in a great location, near lots of fun restaurants and bars, and within walking distance of the Addison stop on the red line.

    5
    « Cutest hotel! »

We arrived to just stay one night. We were in town for the Green Day concert. We typically stay near the loop, but picked this area to be closer to concert venue. The outside of the hotel is so cute! Looks like its in the middle of the suburbs, not Chicago. Our room was 421, and it was huge. My 13 yo son thought it was great. Small kitchen and 2 separate sleeping areas, with 2 TV's. Small kitchen if we had wanted to cook. Lots of stores and restaurants right there. The complimentary breakfast was great, waffles, eggs and sausage, with lots of options. We would definitely stay again.

  • 4
« Nice Location, Friendly Staff and Parking Ramp Next Door »

My wife and I attended a concert at the Vic Theater nearby. We could have walked but opted for Uber. There is a parking ramp next door with valet parking and unlimited in-out privileges. The room was spacious and comfortable. A nice breakfast was included and free Wi-Fi. There was some noise from the hallway but nothing excessive. I would stay here again.

    5
    « Great Vacation Location »

This charming hotel sits in the heart of a wonderful area. Walking distance to Wrigley Field and the bus and rail lines. Many eclectic shops and eateries in the neighborhood. Quiet hotel with large spacious rooms. Very clean and the staff is very happy to answer your questions and direct you to the easiest way to get around. 20 minutes from downtown Chicago by bus. We planned to stay there again at the end of our trip but didn't make it back.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

This hotel was an exceptional option when attending a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. The hotel is within very safe walking distance to the venue, which is ideal to avoid the heavy pre and post game crowd. A spacious room with comfortable beds and great amenities was icing on the cake. Our room had a fridge, microwave, and Keurig with k-cups waiting. The room design was modern and sleek. In the morning, a complimentary hot breakfast was waiting, including scrambled eggs and bacon. Other breakfast options included a good selection of yogurts and pastries. We will be back!

    4
« Great Place to stay »

Very nice Best Western close to everything. Room had a couple of cosmetic issues of which the General Manager was very willing to take care of those issues. Only drawback to staying here is there is no free parking. Parking in the garage next door cost 80 dollars for 2 days. Other than the parking i would definitely recommend staying here.

    5
« Great location near our family events »

We visited Chicago for a weekend of family celebrations & this hotel was suggested. It turned out to be within a few minutes walk for 2 out of 3 events. Perfect since we didn't wish to rent a car or take many rides. The hotel is well maintained & staff is responsive to questions/concerns. The room was fine altho' it's always hard to get used to another bed, this one seemed bouncy if you moved much. Otherwise it was good with a wide breakfast selection & good coffee & juices. We took ours back to the room since the seating in the lobby was limited. Our front room was close enough to street noise even on the 4th floor & strangely we could hear the elevator dinging even though a stairwell was in between. Choose a room away from the street.

    5
    « Very nice rooms »

This is a really cute hotel in a great neighborhood. I loved the floors in the room and the comfortable bed and pillows. I also loved the Halloween decor outside. Parking is easy and there is a really nice market next door for food, wine, etc... Will definitely stay again next time we visit Chicago.

« Helpful and Gracious Staff »

I recently had to make a last minute reservation at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace. I ended up staying there for six nights - long enough for it to start feeling like home. Everything about my experience there was positive -from the clean, well-serviced room, to the continental breakfast...but most especially the courteous and helpful staff. At one point I was having trouble logging on to the hotel's internet. Turns out there was a problem with the wifi - the front desk staff worked to get it fixed as soon as possible, and called me to let me know as soon as the wifi was back up and running. My housekeeper was accommodating and prompt and tried to service my room as soon as she saw me leaving for the day so that I would come back to a clean room. Every time I left the hotel and returned, I was welcomed back by whomever was working the front desk. There are several good restaurants very close to the hotel, and a grocery store virtually next door where you can grab snacks and beverages to stock your in-room mini-fridge. The hotel has a small courtyard in the front with tables where you can sit and enjoy your coffee from the nearby Starbucks or one of the other cafe/bakeries nearby. My experience was so positive, that other members of my family have now booked their stays there when visiting family in the Lakeview/Chicago area.

    « chicago stay »

Nice hotel, pleasant staff, clean and comfortable - overall very happy with my stay! The complimentary breakfast was only just OK - but really that was my only gripe with the hotel. It was a really great place and very convenient for what I needed.

    « Good Location »

I would stay here again even though I had a few complaints. I loved that they had laminate flooring, but the rug needed to be vacuumed better. The configuration of the room was nice it made it feel very spacious. Didn't like the hair products and the hair dryer kept overheating.

« Very nice and good location »

Very nice and spacious room, pretty decor! Quiet, quiet, quiet. Good breakfast and nice, helpful staff. Good location for us (5 min. from Wrigley Field, 15 min. from downtown). Only complaint was noisy A/C unit outside bdrm window (sounded like it had a bad bearing). All else great!

« Excellent base for visiting Chicago »

We recently stayed in this hotel for three nights while visiting Chicago. Upfront - this hotel does not pretend to be anything it isn't which for me is a huge plus. It is in a very nice neighbourhood near the Wrigley Stadium and North Lakeshore Drive and is served by the red line and the 146 bus which brings you directly to the city centre. From experience we found the bus by far the best option with the stop being only five minutes walk from the hotel and a very short travel time as it is an express all the way to the Weston Hotel. This is a boutique hotel - a small building and limited number of rooms. Rooms were an excellent size and the beds etc very comfortable. Breakfast is free and is self served from a kitchen area next to reception - basic but it works and there was plenty of choice. We found the staff in general to be very good and helpful and in general the atmosphere in the hotel was very relaxed. Our only hiccup was the taxi back to the airport which didn't turn up on time - if you are trying to get to O'Hare at rush hour be careful as there can be considerable delays on the highway. One suggestion - get a taxi to bring you to the blue line and jump on the train - faster and more reliable. We booked this hotel as part of a package so I can't comment on value. Overall - would really recommend this simple hotel which does exactly what one would expect without fuss. There is no bar but nearby Rocks bar and restaurant is a great option for drinks and snacks just across the road - very good value and great fun.

« No need to try another hotel »

We were lucky to try BW Hawthorne Terrace the 1st time we came to visit Chicago, have never wanted to try another. Beautiful & comfortable rooms, excellent staff & service, reasonable rates and lovely area.

« Excellent Customer Service Goes A Long Way »

We have stayed at this Hotel so many times, and each time has been better then the last time we stayed. Its a very pleasure that we have the opportunity to be in the same neighborhood of our Son. We know that we have several hotel's in the Greater Chicago area that we can choose from but we choose Best Western out of all of them. That's our Choice

« Very nice and good location for us! »

We thought the hotel, guest room, atmosphere, location and staff were terrific!! There was only one issue. We stayed in room 226. There was a loud constant noise from the A/C unit right outside our window (almost like a bearing was loose in it). Made it difficult to sleep.

    « Great »

Lovely hotel in a nice area. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Good neighborhood to walk around in. Lots of good restaurants in the area. The staff was very efficient in dealing with check-in and out. Very friendly and helpful.

    « Excellent Hotel »

The suites are comparable to any four star downtown hotels. The staff is so courteous and the housekeeper even returned an envelope of cash to the front desk. Ideally located in a bustling commercial district. Many things to do in the area. Lakeview East is a great neighborhood and this is a gem.

    5
« Great location within walking distance to Lakeview neighborhood »

Everyone seems to really care about the guests and make it warm and comfortable. It is close to shops, restaurants, and now a new Mariana's. The fitness room is beautiful also. Parking is close and affordable.

Great hotel, boutique rooms with beautiful hardwood floors. Great location (easy walk to Red Line, Wrigleyville and beach) Not as congested as staying along Michigan Ave Numerous choices for restaurants Parking garage next door

Perfect! Friendly staff, clean, accomodating, worth the price, close to Wrigley Field, excellent breakfast, comfortable beds, free wifi, all around a great experience my best friend and I won't soon forget!

« Best Service! Great Room! Good Location! »

From beginning to end the staff and facility was exceptional. It shows that the staff and managers really care about your experience. From check-in to check-out it was a flawless experience. Breakfast was great. The room was very clean and orderly. The staff respected our privacy but yet still cleaned the room when we vacated for some time. Would definitely stay here again. The price is a bit high and a pool would be nice but it was still all worth it.

    4
    « Clean and Convenient »

This hotel was very cute and pretty central in location. It was clean, it was safe, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming! Free Wi-Fi, and a complimentary breakfast. A good deal and a good value. I would stay here again.

« Charming, unique "boutique" hotel »

I stayed in this hotel for one night during a business trip when my conference hotel was sold out for the last night. I found it to be very charming, particularly the entrance courtyard climbing with ivy and the large, expansive room with wood-like floors. I deduct one star due to the very loud air conditioning unit which woke me during the night when it would kick on!

    5
« Amazing staff and great hotel »

Amazing staff. So accommodating for guests special needs. Also extremely friendly and helpful during the whole stay. Hotel was located in an awesome area and rooms were spacious and very clean. Great price! Couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

« Best Western Plus Hawthorn Terrace Hotel »

The hotel was exactly as pictured and what we expected. Front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Close to Wrigley Field and many other attractions. The neighborhood has lots of restaurant choices.

    5
« Gem On the North Side »

This hotel is a gem at a great price. My room is always terrific - as large as an apartment. Well kept and comfortable. Easy to recommend to family or business associates. Very convenient to north side businesses and only blocks from Lake Shore Drive.

    5
    « Homy but luxury »

I'll start with the beautiful garden this hotel has. Their customer service is magnificent and the breakfast that they serve for the guests is lovely. The luxury room has a king bad and a Jacuzzi. The hotel is not big and you feel like at home when you are there. It's also located right next to the lake and very close to Broadway st with a lot of cool shops, good coffee shops and restaurants.

    « Chicago Vacation »

Enjoyed our stay here. Nice location convenient to bars, restaurants, and other stores. Also, walking distance to Wrigley Field. Room was upgraded for us and was clean, quiet and roomy. Had a great time in a great city and enjoyed our stay!

    3
    « Worst beds ever! »

It's a nice hotel in a really good area, as long as you don't want to sleep. Ultra firm outdated mattress left us sore and tired. When you try to sleep on the tiny sofa in the room, you know there's a problem.

    5
    « Wrigley Bound »

Part of our road trip. Could stay here and go to see the White Sox, Brewers, and Cubs. Perfect place to stay. Could walk over to Lincoln Park as well and walk the trail along Lake Michigan. Would definitely stay again

    « Cubs Games »

Stayed here three different times for Cubs games as hotel is about 1/2 mile from Wrigley Field. Not a low price excursion, but a lot of fun in the area and with fellow Cub fans. Restaurants and bars abound. Hotel is old, but updated and very nice inside and out.

    5
« Perfect hotel fo r staying and watching the Cubs »

easy parking next to the hotel, easy walk to Wrigley Field without the hassle of worrying about transportation, very helpful front desk workers, good breakfast, and jr suite had plenty of room for 4 people. I'd stay again.

    5
    « A Euro-feel to a Chicago Hotel »

My friend and I stayed at this hotel because we wanted to be able to walk to a Cub's game. We were very pleased with everything about the hotel. Parking was easy and not too expensive. The neighborhood was fun and hip. Our room was more than adequate for a one-night stay. The hotel staff were professional and friendly. All good.

    4
    « Great for a Cub Came! »

Got there at about 4pm. Nice parking lot next door, with in and out privileges. Facility is clean and the staff was courteous.. Our room was clean, but both the refrigerator and the air unit were noisy. Overall, the experience was nice. I could easily recommend this hotel.

    5
« Very very quiet and the BEST Cranberry Muffins.... »

Very very quiet and the BEST Cranberry Muffins at breakfast.... We had a top floor room at the end of the hall. Was perfect. Room was very clean and quiet. Room was very large, which was wonderful. They have the best cranberry muffins at breakfast, but get there early as they run out fast. You can catch a cab right in front of hotel (They turn on a cab light for you.) Front patio was very lovely place to sit and relax at. Was a great hotel!!

    2
« Poor Service and Attention to Detail »

Location good. Walking distance to Red Line train and Wrigley Field. Convenience good, hotel value poor. Staff appears indifferent to guest safety and comfort. Reported room issues fell on deaf ears at check out. Do not recommend room at front of hotel. Courtyard guests loud, late at night.

    5
« Hawthorne Terrace surpasses all expectations! »

I stay at the Hawthorne Terrace every year I visit Chicago. The rooms are nicely appointed and come equipped with mini-fridge, microwave, flat screen TV and great high speed internet. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. The Hawthorne Terrace serves the best and most extensive breakfast I've ever experienced. If you're used to opening up a pre-packaged danish or bagel from a plastic bag, which is your typical fare at most hotels, you're in for a real treat at the Hawthorne Terrace. What makes this breakfast extremely unique is that the staff brings in fresh baked goods every morning from a Chicago landmark, Ann Sather. You get a real "taste of Chicago" you'll remember forever!

    2
    « Near Wrigley »

A friend booked this hotel because of its proximity to Wrigley Field, To be honest I was surprised at the nightly rate. Perhaps it was jacked up because of the concert at Wrigkey(we were attending). E paid 400+ per night. It is iwithin walking distance which was our primary reason for staying there. It's a block from the lake and qtr mile walk to the EL It's great neighborhood. Safe, restaurants and grocery stores (Treasure Island foods is next door, Jewel is right down the block and whole foods is about a half mile walk if you are looking to save $ on dining). Ann sathers across the street is perfect for eating great breakfast at a great price. The rooms are nice. Hard wood floors are a nice touch too.Keep in mind though they are noisy when other guest are dropping and rolling luggage-- At all hours. which brings me to my first point It's noisy. Doors closing, luggage rolling, conversations being held type noisy. The rooms were fine size wise. Beds were uncomfortable. I prefer more support. The tub had rust stains and The remotes didn't really work. I thought the staff were lovely and very accommodating. The rooms need updating too. My final point next time I'll pay the same price for a higher quality and pay for an uber to get to Wrigkey if needed.

    « Bed Bugs Attack »

I awoke from my first night of sleep with 3 bed bugs crawling on me and in the bed. I am a physician and know what bed bugs look like. I was able to capture one of the bugs. I brought it to the desk. They claimed it wasn't a bed bug. While I at the desk another customer came up an complained about bed bugs and he had bites all over him. Clearly this hotel is infested. The other bed in the room smelled of vomit and the TV remotes barely worked.

    « Chicago trip »

Hotel was close to everything we wanted to see .. Employee's were very friendly and very helpful unloading the luggage from the car and taking it to the room .. Room was clean an large .. Hot breakfast was served in the morning with a nice court yard where there were tables to eat at instead of your room .. Will stay again on our next trip to Chicago !!

    « Wonderful weekend! »

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is located in a lovely neighborhood only a couple blocks from Lake Michigan. I was surprised to learn the property was "dog friendly" and saw many guests traveling with their 4-legged buddies!

    « Love this hotel »

We love this hotel - a little high priced but location and access and neighborhood are just great. We always get a room on the suite side and it is perfect for us. Parking is high as well but most places are. It is nice to drop your car and walk to all your destinations or use the train.

    « Cubs »

The hotel was amazing and in a very convenient location. We were able to walk to the Cubs game and walk to the lake. The room was so beautiful and I felt like I was at home. The personal was wonderful

    « Great location »

This hotel is perfectly located if you want to be near Wrigleyville or nearby neighborhoods. The rooms are large for a city neighborhood hotel. We had a suite with two double beds and a double sleeper sofa. It was my husband, myself and two teenagers. There was a small fridge an a microwave and two TVs. Very clean! The only negative in the room was the AC. When you set the temperature, it would cool to that temp, but if the room got even 1 deg cooler the heat would come on! Then it would heat up and the AC would switch on; kind of annoying. This was in August. No option to just have AC. Other than that, it was perfect. We loved walking to Wrigley, festivals, restaurants, bars. Very close to the lakefront, too. Would definitely stay again. Parking garage is right next door; you pay by the day, but its added to your hotel bill. If you are a hotel guest you get in and out privileges. Morning breakfast was decent. Nice little patio to eat on out front if the weather is nice.

    « Great Location »

Stayed here for Northalsted Market Days 2016. This is our second year in a row we attended the festival and stayed at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace given the great location. Rooms are large with mini refrigerators and coffee machines. Plenty of clean, nice towels. Beds are also very comfortable.

    « Guys Weekend »

I love this hotel. I actually can not say enough good things about this hotel. First of all we had this loft style suite with 2 King beds. The space was amazing. I will be asking for this room every time I return. The complimentary breakfast was a great way to start our day. The location is phenomenal. All staff members we came in contact with were very warm and friendly.

    « Cubs game stay »

A short stay at a great place! Very clean and the staff were all very pleasant! The parking garage is right next door. Super convenient!! Close enough walk to the ball park and a lot of places to stop on the way. If you would get thirsty! Would totally stay at this one again!!!

« Great place but needs updating, especially for the rates... »

I have been coming here several years. I usually rebook at check out for the following year. I didn't this year though. This place is great. Perfect neighborhood location, nice little breakfast, convenient to transportation. Friendly staff. Even with all the above, they need to update. My sofa and coffee table looked like they came from a thrift ship. Even for Chicago this is a higher price point property but this visit walking in to the room to see this furniture every day, depressing and time to check some other hotel options...This was 225 in the new building.

    5
« All about Wrigleyville location! »

This is a great location for walking all around Wrigleyville and to a Cubs game. Breakfast "pantry" area, front patio, and lobby are small but pleasant. We walked from the Red line here (with rolling luggage), as well as to great nearby restaurants (get great burgers, beer and whiskey at Rocks and cinnamon rolls at Ann Sather.) Our room on the top floor was quiet and plenty big with two sitting chairs and a desk area.

    5
    « Second Chance »

First time here was a bummer. Gave them another chance. Room was nicer, stay was much more pleasant. Experienced several large rats running in bushes in the courtyard sitting area. Did not experience that the 1st time, but was the only issue this time. They are on the outside of the hotel AND its of course a big city, BUT putting rat poison around the grounds might help. GROSS!

    « Easy to like »

This property is in a very upbeat urban neighborhood. Apartments are scattered about and the street is lined with small shops and an eclectic combo of eateries. It is within a reasonable walk of Wrigley Field and a cab to downtown is in the $20 neighborhood including tip. The room was very clean and the overall experience was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful in every way, from the cleaning crew, to the front desk clerks, all were polite, out going, and cheerful. The small front courtyard was a nice place to visit and enjoy the ivy covered walls around it. The breakfast was tasty, but the breakfast area quite cramped and there was little room to enjoy the meal at thee peak breakfast hours. My only real complaint is the ONE ice machine for four floors of guests. Still we had a very, very pleasant stay.

    3
    « Comfortable »

As a business owner in the area, this is the first place we select to house our out-of-town employees. The rooms are always clean, comfortable and the the rates and the staff are super friendly. The location is very close to the club and right in the middle of Lake View or "Boys Town". If you happen to be visiting Chicago in the summer for Market Days you cannot get a better inexpensive location. In addition to be supper close to all the nightlife and bars in "Boys Town" it is only a 5 minute walk to the lake front, which itself is a lovely place to be in the summer.

« Outstanding in Every Way »

A Gem in Chicago, Good value, great rooms, great breakfast, easy to get to. We had moved our daughter to Chicago, needed a place to spend the night, found it on the internet with good reviews. We parked our car on a side street to avoid Chicago's over the top parking fees. (hotel charges 38. dollars a night) Took the No. 36 bus for a dollar and rode a mile. Bus stop right in front of hotel.

    « Great Location »

Beautiful, comfortable and clean room. Awesome breakfast. Yummy Kay's famous cinnamon rolls. Great location in Lakeview. Walked where we needed to and took an Uber late at night. In and out privileges in valet parking garage next door. We will be back!

« Close to Wrigley and very nice neighborhood »

if your bucket list has a trip to the iconic Wrigley Feld, consider staying at this nice property. Close to shops restaurants and a nice walk to the ballpark. The accommodations are clean, newer and a really nice free breakfast makes it even better. A bit noisy for us, but our room was overlooking the street and small outdoor terrace. Otherwise, perfect for one or two nights to explore Chcago.

« i had a fabulous time at Best Western Hawthorn Terrace in Chicago, recently. »

great location, great staff, great (smallish) room, and very conveniently located. i found the kitchen just perfect to make dinner for my dog, and breakfast, and to keep foods for ourselves in the mini fridge. the location for laundry, food, drugstores, lakers, restaurants, etc was superb.

    4
« Convenient to Wrigley Field »

This is a nice older hotel. Our room was very nice and the property is kept very neat and clean. The breakfast was just so-so; the same things were offered the two days we stayed here. I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Wrigley Field; it's about a 9 block walk (15 minutes) to the ballpark. I'd stay here again if the occasion arose.

    5
    « Outstanding »

Fantastic experience!! We were greeted while checking in, out room was a fantastic king suite. The room was wonderful, spacious and private. Bed was comfortable, shower was wonderful. Breakfast had lots of options and hit the spot. Great neighborhood and location. LOVED it!!!

    5
« Great place to stay! »

I selected this hotel from a variety of offerings on the internet when looking for somewhere to stay within walking distance of Wrigley Field. I couldn't have made a better choice!! While the 7-8 blocks to Wrigley were sort of a long walking distance, the ride home from the game in a bicycle jitney was a hoot!!

    « Always a Pleasure! »

This is a wonderful hotel located in a great, safe neighborhood! One block from the lake and park. The staff is very friendly, helpful and polite and the hotel is convenient to public transportation, shopping, restaurants and night life. The rooms are very nicely appointed, decorated and comfortable. Plenty of lighting, toiletries and towels. The free breakfast is very nice and quite a step up from the average continental breakfast, with cereals, breads (muffins, toast, bagels, English muffins and fantastic cinnamon rolls!), juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs and sausage (or bacon). The free in-room wi-fi is icing on the cake. It's my favorite hotel to stay in whenever I visit Chicago!

    « All about Wrigley »

Great location for the Wrigley experience. 2 blocks to Lake Michigan and events around Lincoln Park. Lots of food options in the neighborhood. A little more than I normally pay for a room, but given our limited time the location was worth it. Close to the L and bus lines.

    5
    « Location Location Location »

This was one of the best location I had in Chicago. Everything was close to where we wanted to be. Cubs game was 10 mins away as well as access to the L train so we were able to be in downtown just minutes away such as sight seeing, shopping and close to the loop in minutes. Staff was very curious and always able to help. There was always something to do in the area and it was close to the hotel whether it was dinning out or just have a relaxed night. The hotel had a nice front sitting terrace area. It was nice and quite you can grab a bottle of wine and just chill enjoying the night and watch people walk by. Rooms were cozy and had adequate stuff stuff needed in a room plus valet parking next door, free wifi and complimentary water .. can't beat that.

    « Best spot yet!!! »

If having a Comfortable, Clean and homey place to stay in the heart of Wrigleyville is your goal, then look no further!!! My best friend made this reservation she was coming from California and I was coming from Ohio- all for a few fun filled days of Cubs games! What a great choice! There is a grocery store right next door and you have a fridge in your room- very helpful. Just a few blocks walk to the lake in one direction and Wrigley Field in the other direction- so plenty to do!! Bars and restaurants all around to give you a nice variety to choose from! They provide a nice selection of breakfast choices to grab and go before you head out for the day too! Can't say that I ever want to stay anywhere else!

« Home away from home »

Enjoyed my stay at this quaint little hotel hidden in the nice Chicago neighborhood. The location and ease of this hotel is what makes this a great stay. The eateries, bars and entertainment in this area is another reason for placing this hotel in my top 5.

« Less then expected for the price »

At check in, the clerk was professional but never once smiled or welcomed us. We found the room to be less then clean, One coffee mug actually had food in it, a pillow case had a very obvious sneaker or shoe print on it and a table was very dirty. We notified the front desk , and were told they were having issues and a manager would be notified. No one ever contacted us again. The location would be perfect to visit relatives ,but we left with a bad feeling.

« Best Western stay in Chicago Il. »

    « Location, location location »

My nephew and I stayed here for one night in mid-July to attend a Cubs' game. The location couldn't be better - easy walk to Wrigley. I have to say that the room was less than expected and it was the most expensive room on property - a 2 BR suite. The furnishings are old. The room and bathroom were not clean. Having said that, and please continue reading. Management of the hotel is ridiculously attentive. The staff, from bottom to top is obviously there to please the customer. Myra, the on site manager, and Yolanda, the general manager couldn't have done anything additional to take care of us. We were incredibly impressed with their professionalism and the manner in which they approached a not-so-great situation and a very unhappy guest. The solution that they presented to us was perfect. The plethora of other reviews which are very positive are to be believed. It's my understanding that the furnishings will be replaced in the very near term, and that housekeeping was likely in a transitional stage. Both of those items will solve the issues we experienced. I'm used to staying at the likes of the Waldorf, the Four Seasons, the Peninsula .. .. we stayed here because of the proximity to Wrigley and didn't want to be leaving downtown on a Friday night. Were I to return to Chicago to see a Cubs' game, I would stay here again, and would recommend it to friends and colleagues. Thank you again.

« Great Location in Popular Chicago Area »

We booked one night at this hotel so we were within walking distance to the Metro Theater. We booked the two king bed suite/ loft and it was very nice. There are two king beds with a wall separating the rooms so it is kind of open but private. Each area had a large flat screen television, the main bed area also a couch, table with two chairs and a desk chair. There was a small kitchen area with a mini fridge, sink and coffee maker with free coffees. Everything was very clean and the employees were very polite and helpful. Nice free breakfast with plenty of food, juices and coffee with indoor and outdoor seating. Great location for walking to the Cubs games, restaurants and bars. Great Place.

    « Baseball anyone? »

We stayed at this resort due to it's proximity to Wrigley field as our trip centered around watching our home team, the NY Mets, play the Cubs. It was just about 1/2 a mile from the resort to the gate. There was a Starbucks on the corner and they served a fantastic hot breakfast included with the meal. The room was spacious and clean. The only negative was the $38 parking for the night.

    4
« Great location! Awesome stay with only one negative »

I really like this hotel. The rooms are big and the service is excellent. We had a king suite and everything was great EXCEPT new comforters are needed. The comforters are in duvet covers and do not stay in place. We woke up many times during the night. This wouldn't prevent us from staying here again but it would make our stay better if they had more standard hotel comforters.

    « Nice little spot »

We booked this when we had an event at the VIC Theater. It's nice. Though it offers no rollaway beds and the lighting is awful in the bathroom and in the bedroom. The outside terrace is very cute. I really loved that they had a cap call light. Meaning a light outside of the building that they would turn on when you needed a cab. The front desk woman was very helpful with giving us suggestions for delivery pizza and the cleanings ladies we passed on the way out were very nice as well.

    « Loved our stay! »

We stayed here in early July 2016, visiting to attend a Cubs game. When we arrived, the gentleman working as the valet that night was an extreme help, telling us about the area in which we were staying and explaining that we could walk to Wrigley Field the next day. Then Kwame, who was working the front desk, was also an amazing help! We've never been to Chicago, so we didn't know a lot about where to visit. He went above and beyond, providing us with maps along with telling us several places we could see. It was late and we were hungry, so he recommended a sports bar that was down the street from the hotel. When Kwame got off work after midnight, he stopped by the sports bar to tell us about Taste of Chicago which was going on that week (which we attended the next day & it was great!). How nice was that for him to go out of his way? We really appreciated his doing that. The rest of the staff the next two days was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel accommodations were perfect. Our room was clean as was the entire hotel. The courtyard was just lovely and provided a nice area to sit and watch passersby. We'll definitely stay here again when we go to our next Cubs game!

This is an excellent hotel in an amazing location. The rooms are well appointed. They have an arrangement with the public parking garage next door and you can pay for it through the hotel. Very convenient.

    « Feels like a boutique hotel! »

This is a super hotel located in the heart of everything that doesn't have the typical hotel feel. The rooms are unique, as is the style of the entire hotel. There's a cute terrace out front where you can enjoy the outside and a nice lobby area to relax in or enjoy the complimentary breakfast. We enjoyed a quiet night's sleep, despite being in the city.

« Disappointing to the extreme »

I live about 2 hours from Chicago, so I decided to stay in a hotel the night before going to an event earlier in the morning. I didn't know anything about this hotel before staying here. I was not a fan of the expensive valet parking...I should have looked for some sort of free street parking nearby (I lived in Chicago a few years ago, I know this type of parking exists, but I was tired and needed to get to sleep so I used the garage). Check in was simple enough, but the employee didn't elaborate on anything and was quite quiet. Merely asked me to sign where I needed to, that sort of thing. I got up to my room and it was pleasant enough; besides there being an odd insect on the floor of the bathroom, which creeped me out. The toilet clogged from just a touch too much toilet paper (very sensitive flushing it seems, there was barely anything in it). Quickly brushed my teeth and climbed into bed, since I had an early morning. I ended up being woken up by very loud people outside at least 6 times while on the brink of sleep. By the time it was 3 AM I was finally upset enough that I started crying and called the front desk. They switched my room to a further back room, which was quieter (though the moment I walked into the new room I was hit by a strong chemical scent which really bothered my eyes and nose, no idea what that was from or all about). But my goodness...switching rooms at 3:15 AM!?!? I've never in my life experienced this during a hotel stay, and I was previously a flight attendant, so I've stayed in MANY hotels and NEVER have I ever had this horrible of an experience. By this point I was so overtired and upset (I had to be up in 4 hours at this point, to get to the event that I had come to the hotel to have a "good sleep" at in the first place), that I couldn't stop crying. I felt exhausted and beyond tired when I woke up and had to get to the day-long event. Oh and side note, no one asked how my stay was or anything...not once. I was so tired from not being able to sleep because of the noise, that I couldn't go to the event's organized gathering after the event at a local bar/restaurant. I was too tired from lack of sleep (thanks hawthorne terrace! I do blame you for this!) and had to make sure that I could get home without driving becoming dangerous (since I was so exhausted). Completely ruined the entire point of staying at a hotel, I wish I had just stayed home and gotten up early to drive in for the event instead. WASTE OF MY MONEY!!!! Oh and I tried to submit and write this review on their website and got some mysterious 'Your request has been blocked' error when I pressed submit. Makes me wonder if they deliberately block low rated reviews.

« My favorite hotel in Chicago! »

I always stay at this hotel when visiting Chicago. The location is great in the tranquil Lakeview area. The rooms towards the back are VERY quiet. I did have an issue this last visit with housekeeping having left my door open one day after servicing my room. I had been sightseeing all day so who knows how long my room door had been open. Fortunately I had my valuable in the in-room safe and nothing was missing. They also left only one fresh bath towel on this occasion. I reported to the front desk and hopefully they will remind the housekeepers to make sure doors are locked upon exiting every room. I highly recommend this hotel!

    « Great spot..bring your $$$$$ »

Hi.. Had a blast of a time in Chi town. Loved the location. In a great neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again, but just wish it wasn't so $$$$$. Oh well. Very easy to get around from this location. Liked it much better than the loop locations.

« Just the best value in Chicago »

We have stayed at the Hawethorne Terrace many times over the last ten years and it is in my book the best value around. The people are so nice and helpful. The rooms are top notch. I can't say anything bad about this hotel. we don't consider anything else unless they are full up.

« Good hotel in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of Wrigley Field »

My husband and I wanted a hotel that would be close enough to Wrigley Field that we could walk. This one is less than a mile away. There are quite a number of neighborhood eateries within walking distance, too. The room was a bit older and a bit tired, BUT, it was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and neat and the water pressure in the shower was tops (very important to my husband). Decent choices for breakfast that can be taken back to your room OR eaten at tables in the lobby OR, the best option, eaten at the small wrought iron tables on the patio out front. While we wanted to be within walking distance of Wrigley, we were also within walking distance of the CTA which made going into downtown Chicago very easy.

« Outstanding Location for Cubs!! »

My party of four stayed at this BW+ based on the Trip Advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. Just an excellent location for anyone that is looking to go to a Cubs game. Walk a couple blocks down Broadway and turn left on Addison. :-) The accommodations were excellent. Rooms were very classy with hardwood floors and the hot breakfast in the morning was also very good. Would absolutely stay here again based on this experience. I would add that the parking garage was $12 cheaper than my normal parking spot when I travel to a Cubs game - based on weekend prices.

    « Perfect experience »

I came to Chicago for my daughter's college graduation. I stayed at this Best Western for 5 nights, & I was totally impressed. Check-in was easy, the room was available early, & the entire staff was friendly & helpful. The hotel has a lovely outdoor garden entrance where you can sit in the shade at nice wrought iron tables & chairs. They offer an ample complimentary breakfast, & coffee & hot water (for tea) is available all day. The room, closet & bathroom are a great size, & the bed is comfortable. They allowed me do a late check-out. I have no complaints about my entire stay. Perfect accommodation.!

« One of the Best Best Western! »

Just amazing! Great staff, great hotel! This hotel is so clean you could eat off the floor. I work for Best Western in West Palm Beach Florida and this hotel is the benchmark for excellence. It is located in a safe, clean neighborhood. There is everything with in walking distance. Wrigley is minutes away. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I am brining my family back to stay here in the near future. Good Job Best Western!

    « Great place »

Love location, amenities such as a frigde, sauna, and jacuzzi. Super clean and great staff! I enjoyed being able hang out on the beautiful porch and people watch or drink a cup of coffee. You have outlets to charge our phone in a lot of areas.

    « Great experience »

We stayed at Hawthorne Terrace because of it's closeness to Wrigley Field. It's in a quieter neighborhood of Chicago with lots of restaurant choices near by. There's also a Jewel Osca grocery store for buying in room snacks/beverages. It's a short walk to the El for trips into downtown. The Comcast WiFi doesn't work very well and Rm 323 could use room darkening curtains. It gets really bright at 6am!

    « Very Relaxing »

Spent 5 nights, after a busy day was very relaxing to return ti this hotel. Service was excellent, front desk answered all questions about the area, The whirlpool help tiered sore muscles. Would stay at this hotel when ever going back to this area.

    « Loved the suite »

We traveled to Chicago for a concert, we were there for one night. I had a tough time finding a hotel that we could fit 5 adults, 2 beds and a pullout. When I came across this hotel on Hotwire it had everything we were looking for. Since it did take me so long to make up my mind it was kind of pricey but we went ahead and booked it. We arrived at the hotel and they upgraded us for free to the Junior Suite. It was huge! It had a separate room with a king bed. Then a separate area with another king bed and the living room had a couch with a pullout bed. It was spacious and just what we needed. It had a small kitchenette which we used to reheat food. It seemed like there was supposed to be a kitchen table in there which would have been useful. It just had 4 chairs placed against the wall which was strange. The bathroom had 2 shower heads and a lit mirror which was great for pictures. The hotel was close to the Aargon Ballroom where we were headed. Also, when we got back in from the concert we called to the front desk and they helped us find a place that was still open and delivering. The only con to this hotel is you have to park in a garage next to the hotel. The people seemed sketchy but it all worked out. You pay for the parking at checkout and give the people in the garage the slip when you leave. We never had to move our car while we were there so I am not sure how that process works.

« very nice place to stay and near L as wellas Wrigley »

we found it convenient and reasonable to sta to go to White Sox and Cub games. The L train was nearby with very good restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was well stocked and easy to get to.

« Nice Hotel for overnight stay »

Good experience -- a little pricey ($250.00) for one night. May have been the night as in the past I paid approx. half the price. This trip I was at the annex, for the first time. the rooms are nicer in the annex than the main building. two disadvantages of the annex; no security/front desk and minimal place to sit for breakfast. You do have the option of going to the main building for breakfast

    « Worth every Penny »

This hotel is a hidden gem. The courtyard was so beautiful, and it was so relaxing to sit outside by the fountain, and have a cup of coffee. The parking lot was so easy to get in and out of, I was a bit nervous about parking on the street, so I was very relieved that there was a wonderful parking lot. I was also able to save so much money, since my room (suite) had a stove, cookware, minifridge, and microwave. It was nice not having to eat out all the time. I also love the fact that they use the local bakery next store for the morning cinnamon rolls. It is the little details that make all the difference. I also loved the couch and bed faced the tv, so I was able to watch a movie with my family. The shower- this is the best shower ever. So wonderful after a day of walking around the city. Speaking of the city- I could not hear anything outside while I was sleeping. It was such a wonderful stay, I can't wait to come back.

    « Lakeview Gem »

We have stayed here several times because of the location; close to Wrigley (Go Cubs!) and close to family. We absolutely love the neighborhood, and the hotel itself is charming and inviting with a front patio entrance tucked away from the street with lavish and well tended flowerbeds. Every stay, we are welcomed by friendly staff who seem genuinely concerned about our stay. Mayra worked tirelessly to arrange exactly the rooms we needed to accommodate our family, some of whom needed to arrive on different days. We have stayed at another boutique hotel nearby, and the Best Western Hawthorne is far and away our favorite.

    « I will be back »

I found this hotel on line 1/2016 when I had to go to Chicago to stay near my son. It's a gem! Close to where my son lives, a comfortable hotel in a nice neighborhood, and easy to get into the city! They have upgraded me once, and helped nicely with an unexpected extended stay.

The hotel was very convenient to food and entertainment. The room was comfortable and very clean with all of the amenities we needed. Beautiful hot tub, sauna, and exercise room. Very nice breakfast buffet available. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Safe, active, neighborhood very close to Wrigley, the lake, and boys town. Easy ax cess to freeways and public transportation. Highly recommended!

« Nice hotel in great neighborhood »

Stayed 3 nights. I loved the location and small intimate size of this hotel. Only one block from the lake. I booked a dog-friendly room and it worked out great- Belmont dog beach only 10 mins walk away. The neighborhood is great with lots of restaurants, shops and bars. Valet parking is right next to the hotel. There is a small but very attractive garden at the front of the hotel - great for having complimentary coffee and watching the locals go by

    « great value »

Went with my daughter and grandson for an overnight trip into Chicago. We loved the location and the cute cozy atmosphere! Quiet. Great breakfast included! Would definitely recommend this place for travelers!

« Nice older hotel in North Chicago neighborhood »

We stayed here for several days while apartment hunting in North Chicago. Our suite was nice, roomy, and comfortable. There's a separate sitting area. The location is great if you don't need to go into the city - you can avoid that hassle and still have a lovely room. There's a parking garage next door and hotel guests get a bit of a discount. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

    5
    « Great Location »

We came to Chicago for our daughter's graduation and took in a Cubs game while in town. It was very quaint, nicely decorated, tons of restaurants close by, parking garage next door and within walking distance to Wrigley. Perfect!

« My favorite Chicago hotel »

I prefer this hotel to all other Chicago area hotels I have used. It is an older hotel, but very well-kept. Its location near dining, shopping, Wrigley Field, the lakeshore and DePaul University is almost perfect. All rooms have micro fridges and microwaves. Coffee and tea are available 24/7 in rooms and lobby. Easy, relatively inexpensive parking is exceptional for in-town Chicago.

    4
« So close to perfect »

My husband wanted to stop in Chicago on a recent trip to Iowa. I chose this hotel for its location to Wrigley Field; yes walking distance. Parking next door is convenient; we used taxi to get around. The first night, the tv service was horrible. I called the desk, they sent us a young man who did nothing, and waited for a tip. Didn't happen. Also my room key did not work the 2 night visit. They did fix tv second night. Room was great. Bathroom large and shower was roomy. The counter in room was very nice with sink, refrigerator, and coffee maker. A regular bedspread would have been better than the duvet cover that went off the end of the bed. Breakfast was very good; fresh baked good, plenty to choose from. Neighborhood felt safe. Nice market close by. Would stay again next time.

    « Nice location... »

Need a bit of help in the management department... We had a few issues (phone didn't work so we had to walk down to front desk to converse, room two doors down had a dog barking ALL day, etc.) that do arise but handled poorly.

    « Windy City treat »

Recently stayed here for first time and was delightfully surprised with this property. Was expecting "cookie cutter" lobby, reception area, breakfast, etc, and instead felt welcomed into a homey, pied de terre atmosphere, complete with charming outdoor patio. Staff and service were warm and respectful. Amenities excellent (wi-fi, paper at the door, coffee in room) Breakfast was perfect (fresh, multiple hot/cold selections, plenty of everything) Area and location is ideal for walking to many outstanding restaurants. Will definitely recommend BWPLUS/Hawthorne to all and assuredly will stay again.

    5
    « Cubs Win! »

This is our second stay at the Best Western PLUS Hawthorne Terrace Hotel and we enjoy staying here. Parking garage next door, restaurants, bars, shopping whatever you need within walking distance. We walked to Wrigley each day as it is approx. 8 blocks.

« Amazing Staff and Location »

The staff here really made our stay welcoming and every time we had a question about where to eat or go they were very helpful. Yolanda was top notch and we look forward to returning to this location. The room was absolutely perfect, housekeeping was very friendly. I don't think I would choose a different hotel to stay in Chicago. Keep up the good job. We're starting to plan our trip back.

    3
« Great location to Wrigley Field »

This hotel was great to walk back and forth to ball games. It is however a little dated and not as clean as I wold prefer. The breakfast was adequate but the area is tight quarters when many people are trying to eat.

    5
    « Fabulous! »

Quaint, clean and convenient! Highly recommend this hotel in the Wrigleyville area. Divvy bikes are one block away to ride the lakeshore trail, easy walk to the "L" for downtown, and reasonable cab ride from downtown too! Can't wait to go back for a longer stay.

    5
« Favorite place to stay »

I first started staying at this location about 10 years ago strictly for business. It is a convenient location without being right in the center of Chicago. Subsequently, our son, daughter in law and our granddaughters have moved near the location and it has proved to be a great place for us to stay when in the area. In particular the staff is phenomenal.

    5
« Best Chicago can offer »

This lovely hotel is in one of the greatest neighborhoods in Chicago. Easy to get around, great restaurants, parking garage next door and fun atmosphere. High speed internet is great, breakfast on site is very nice.

    « Restrictions »

My husband and I always enjoyed this amazing hotel. It is a Best Western, but you would never know it. Today I tried to book a room. They now have a 3 night minimum, and the rates have gone up exponentially. It's so sad, this is the hotel that made me fall in love with Chicago.

    4
« Nice location for a Cubs game and more »

The hotel staff is great. The location ( for a cubs game) was perfect. Parking is next door and is added into your hotel bill so it is very easy to just show up and park your vehicle. Did I mention the staff was great!!! Bed was comfy..and clean...Breakfast was a standard breakfast but pretty good...

    « great place »

everything good, A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The staff is friendly, personal, and excellent. And it is right next to a great sushi restaurant. It is also in walking distance from Wrigley field. Breakfast is good, not great. But good is good.

    « Incredible stay »

Stayed at the Hawthorne Terrace Hotel this week. Lovely hotel, incredible room!! Able to walk to Wrigley field and see the Chicago Cubs play! Very nice breakfast available with wonderful coffee. This hotel has charm, class and is wondering for walking to Lake Michigan, Wrigley field and lots of restaurants to choose from.

    5
    « Nice hotel »

The hotel is very close to family that lives in the area. Lots of stores and restaurants in the area. If I don't think it's the best value it's because I'm used to paying closer to 120 a night. But what can I say...it's Chicago.

    5
    « Great experience! »

    « A+ Customer Service »

Upon getting into the city the morning of my business trip I stopped by the front desk to let them know I would be a late check in. They had a room for me and allowed me to check in 8 hours early with no additional charges. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very attentive and kind.

« Love this hotel and it's Staff »

« First time in Boys Town »

I'm definitely coming back. This neighborhood has so many great shops outside your door. There's a hair salon, Mexican Food restaurant, and pet vet hospital on the sane back of the hotel and much more! The rooms were huge! We had a two bedroom suite for just two of us. The beds were comfortable. Shower was a delight! The kitchen spacious.... Overall loved the neighborhood feel!

    4
    « Better than expected »

This hotel has very nice updated rooms. The hotel staff was excellent. The included breakfast is always a nice amenity. The bed was a little hard, however if you do not have back problems, as we do, it will be fine. Overall we were very pleased.

    3
    « Adaquate lodging, however ... »

Absolutely no complaints on location, staff (friendly and helpful),but, unless you are attending a Cubs game, and you want to be within a reasonable waking distance of the ball park, this establishment is overpriced for the amenities offered. It reminds this reviewer of a Red Roof "Plus" Inn, the decor and accommodations are reasonable, but the room rates do not justify what is being charged, i.e., the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston is a "First Rate" hotel with; valet parking, doormen, quality furnished rooms, with an in-house bar/restaurant, etc. provided for even their "standard room". This establishment offers; Red Roof "Plus" style rooms, no valet parking (next door at $38/day), no doormen, no in-house bar/restaurant. They do provide a limited choice breakfast, small business center, exercise room, a friendly and helpful staff, but that is the extent of the services/amenities provided. (there is a nice small "Cheers style" neighbor bar down the street) It is certainly not what is provided by a "First Class" establishment. The proximity to Wrigley Field is a plus, (and they are pricing accordingly) However, not worth the premium price charged, unless you want to be within walking distance of Wrigley Field, then this is your best option, but be prepared to pay the premium price for the privilege.

« Best Location in Chicago with Excellent Customer Service! »

I always have my family and friends stay at this Best Western because it is the cutest hotel in Lakeview (my neighborhood). I'm biased, of course, but there is no better location than this Best Western! But beyond that the hotel is quaint, quiet and well kept. The rooms feature beautiful oak flooring, comfy beds and the suites are incredible! If you need more than one room, I'm telling you, book a suite! There was a slight mix up during a previous stay, but the GM Yolanda took great care of us on the next visit. She really went above and beyond! Which is what you hope for when recommending a place to your friends and family - that they will be taken care of. I will continue to recommend this place to everyone who visits above all else in Chicago!

    3
« Good hotel and location, price concern »

While the hotel and staff were very good, I do not like the practice of having so many different rates loaded through the internet and other sources that you have to thoroughly research before you walk through the door. The hotel when I walked in offered a $169 rate, online was $139 and I had to request the lower rate. Makes me distrustful of your hotel pricing policy. As a frequent traveler, I understand this is a hotel industry issue.

    5
« Great hotel in fun neighborhood »

Love the hotel. So cozy. A lot of hotels are too modern. This one was updated but warm and cozy feeling. Loved that I could walk to Lake Michigan just one block away. Close to everything, train, lake, Wrigley Field. Love this hotel!

    « 1st time to Chicago »

« Best Western, Best Place to Stay for Cubs »

This is the best place to stay, if you want to be in the city of Chicago, and be close to Wrigley Field! It is both awesome and cute, nestled into the part of Broadway that runs through Lakeview. My rooms were the best in the house. One of them was a suite, that made me feel like I had an apartment with the best view. And the hotel staff are AWESOME! They have everything, in a boutique sized form. Excellent service, beautiful bathrooms, gym, jacuzzi, sauna, business center, free breakfast, fireplace in the lobby, and reclaimed look flooring. And everything else you need is within walking distance: Laundry, bus, subway, major league baseball stadium. And, it's the closest hotel to the lake, and the synagogue there. I definitely recommend it for any visitors or vacationers!

    4
« Character Hotel in Beautiful Area »

Lovely hotel. Great room and services. A bit overpriced considering the basic breakfast service. I would recommend this hotel for its location and character. Parking a car beside the hotel is convenient but expensive ($38.00 / 24 hrs)

« Renee the front clerk did not answer the phone consistently or adequately »

I stayed on 4/9-4/11. OK but are the clerks sleeping in the morning at the wheel? I called several times between 5am and 6am to find out what time breakfast was--the clerk Renee picked once, gave her name and I think fell asleep; I kept calling back, she never picked up.

« Room was not clean »

This hotel has a great location but my room was not clean and the bedding was terrible. The sheets had hair on them (not my color), the room had small ants, the bedside table was not clean and the blanket on the bed had a strange odor.

Best Best Western. Hawthorne Terrace is an adorable place. Well kept, tastefully decorated lobby and a very inviting exterior courtyard. with great amenities and a helpful staff. « Great location and comfortable hotel »

Great two bedroom king suite. Clean rooms, attentive staff, in a great location. Appears to have been renovated recently based on our March 2016 stay. Would recommend for business or families seeking a Lakeview location.

Great location, nice rooms, GREAT breakfast! Very modern upscale rooms. Close to everything I needed. Did I mention the breakfast was great! Upscale bathrooms. I would stay again when and if the need arises. minor complaint ( which I dealt with) avoid street side rooms as the is construction across the street which is very noisy even until 6 pm and beyond. Hopefully this satifies the 200 word minimum required for this review. I'll mention again I loved the breakfast!

My husband and I purchased a weekend in Chicago from a fundraiser for our local PBS station. It included two night at the Hawthrone Terrace Suites. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. Our room was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient to public transportation and in a safe and walkable neighbor. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the desk clerk on Sunday afternoon( Feb. 21) who was most helpful with technology problems with my phone. Also, we enjoyed the complementary breakfast. A great weekend!

« My partner and I both had work... »

...so we opted to stay within yelling distance of one of my (oldest and dearest) friends. My partner interviewed, visited a library, toured Cellular Field. I stepped in to pick up two of my favorite girls after school, attended an all school sing along, met with a headmistress for hours. In between, we are, drank, made merry. This hotel, with a third floor suite over looking The corner of West Hawthorne, was brilliant. A favorite first grader talked me through her math homework in the (immaculate, thoughtfully appointed) kitchen; her sixth grade sister opted for the desk in the living room. Their mum, one of my best friends in the world, stopped by, ordered dinner, made predictions about who would win _Chopped_. And that was only one afternoon/evening of our stay. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The king sized bed was firm. Breakfast included fruit and Ann Sather's rolls. Ideal.

« Visiting Lakeview, Lincoln Park or Wrigleyville? Stay here! »

We stay at the Hawthorne Terrace 3-4 times each year when visiting family in Chicago. It's our hotel of choice. The staff is courteous; the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is included, and the is a good selection of items to start off your day. Park your car in the structure next door, catch a cab right in front of the hotel to downtown or walk around and enjoy one of the many neighborhood bars and restaurants.

« Great place to stay »

I really enjoyed my stay at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. The hotel is well placed, and very comfortable. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are many things to do around the hotel, which is also well placed for public transport

    « Comfortable and quite »

It has charm when you first walk in. The fireplace area is very nice. The rooms are big with small refrigerators. Beds are comfy with big tvs. Bathroom is small, but does have blowdryer. They did have breakfast in the morning, but we left early. You can walk to most places in area local bar and shops are all around. Wriggled field isn't far from there, but take a taxi. Front desk can call and they come quickly.

    « Convenient, nice hotel »

Staff very accurat and friendly. Rooms large and with all the amenities you need. Breakfast simple, but will do. On walking distance of subway and buslines. Near supermarkets, cafes and shops. Clean, friendly. Good base to visit Chicago !

    « Extremely comfortable »

The room at the Best Western was very comfortable. The bed was amazing, and did not wake with any pain, as I do at times. The shower was perfect. High pressure to work the stress knots out from between the shoulder blades.

« Best Western Plus Lakeview area »

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It is a quaint spot in a bustling area with shops and restaurants in walking distance. The staff was very friendly. The only downside with most spots in Chicago is parking.

    « great place »

Staying overnight for concert with my daughter and her friends. Options limited for hotel stay. Picked this one and was very happy with stay. Parking expensive in parking structure next to hotel but what can you expect for Chicago.

    « quaint and convenient »

The hotel is modern but quaint. We picked this one as it is close to the Public House Theater where we saw a show. It is also close to many restaurants. Everything was clean and bed comfortable. The continental breakfast was good with a good assortment including eggs/sausage and potatoes. The only drawback was the VERY small breakfast serving area, and not much seating in the foyer for eating. But definitely would stay again!

    « Pleasure »

Very nice hotel! A block from the lake. Room was big and clean and breakfast was very good! Parking ramp right next to hotel and we used Valet, so nice! Only complaint was the heating system (a little tricky) fan was loud and sometimes ran with cold air ? Not sure why :(

« The best in Lakeview »

We've stayed here several times because it is the best place to stay in this area. The rooms are clean, and comfortable, the staff is helpful, and the included breakfast is a good help yourself buffet. Just basic foods, but a wide variety and reasonable quality.

    5
    « excellent value »

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast service was wonderful, and the bed was very comfortable. We were permitted a late check-out as well. The location is convenient for any activities in the near north Chicago area.

    « Very Pleased »

Picked the hotel from the internet and was hoping it was all it claimed. It was! The location was perfect for us. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We took advantage of the breakfast and enjoyed the variety and quality. Would stay at the Hawthorne again.

    « A good nights sleep, and a good morning's work »

Love this location. The staff is the best and I always know that I am getting a quality room at a reasonable price. I keep coming back. It's perfectly located near my marketing clients, within walking distance, and plenty of places to eat when the day is done.

My first impression of the exterior I felt like I was going into a home. The lobby was bright and festive. The staff is friendly. Great location. Our visit was to bring our son to DePaul University. We will be staying there again.

took my wife here for new years/birthday... booked a double queen room a few months in advance and we were upgraded to a king suite upon arrival... room was big... hotel was quiet... slept well... parking garage right next door... great restaurants and bars just around corner... will be staying here in the future

« Great hotel and great value »

Stayed there for a couple of nights right after christmas of 2015. We got a complimentary upgrade to a king suite that included a king size beg, sofa, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and even an in-suite jacuzzi. The room was spotless. Seems like it was fairly recently remodeled. The room and bath were large and comfortable, and the bath products were great. Breakfast was complimentary and had many options to choose from. The hotel is located in the heart of Boystown with many dining options and great nightlife. It is also close to the Belmont L station (red, purple, brown) and the Addison station (red). I have never stayed at a Best Western that as nice as this one. Everything was working great (even the wi-fi). I will definitely come back!

« Great Place to Stay »

We always stay at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace when visiting my son who lives very nearby. It's an excellent hotel in a great location. Plenty of good restaurants, shops, grocery stores right in the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have stayed in several styles of rooms and love the fact that you get a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig and an extra little sink. The larger suites have a bigger kitchen area and are great for visiting with my son and his friends. Bottled water is provided daily. The breakfast is definitely a plus. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Not a large hotel, the added amentias coffee-fruit breakfast free of charge. Coffee in the room and lobby as well as fruit there 24 hours a day. Clean room, well laid out, inter net, TV Radio all worked . I usually stay at a large chain Hotel, took a chance on Best Western Plus this time, less money nd the staff is FIRST CLASS

    « Better than average »

Room and service okay, parking at an independent company garage is atrocious Overpriced rude service. It's a great location for my purpose, but I will probably use an AirBnB next time. Son and his family stayed at an AirBnB and had a great place at a much better price.

Close to jazz, music, bookstores, and restaurants and it's only a short walk to Lake Michigan. (The outstanding Angelina-Italian and Revolución-Mexican are steps away) It was fun to explore another part of the city.

« Can't say enough good things about the Best Western Hawthorne in Lakeview »

I have stayed numerous times to get away as a mini-getaway even though I live only a few blocks away in Lakeview. The hotel rooms are spacious and very up to date. The managers Yolanda and her colleague went out of her way to make my guest experience very special with late checks. The hotel was nice enough when we slept through breakfast and provide me with a box of Ann Santhers homemade muffins. They hotel also has very nice hot tub and they have a gym albeit is a little small was one of the nicest ones I have seen at a Best Western. They give you very nice a selection of fresh fruit at the front desk.

« The best place in Boyztown to stay as well as one of the best in Chicago »

Amazing amazing feel its like your home away from home in Chicago. Great staff beyond great actually rooms are very nice you would guess you were in a boutique hotel vs a best western. The suites are big enough for 4-6 people if they are couples, or 4 people single very comfy. Walking distance to everything in boyztown and easy access to lake shore drive to get to all the sights

« Good hotel in a great location? »

I stayed here twice in the past week and a half. The staff are excellent and provide top-notch service. Cheo is always helpful and gets me the best rate available! He convinced me that the best place to get the best rate is through the hotel directly. Godfrey is also service minded. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the beds are great. The one watch out is to be careful about the noise levels on the second and third floor. I lost an entire night's sleep this week because I was in a room where I could hear a water pump kick in and run for a few minutes at a time. I changed rooms to the third-floor and it turns out there was a generator apparently right outside my windows. Couldn't get to sleep at all that night. Check carefully with the staff to make sure you can avoid the noise problems.

    « Another Great Stay »

This hotel is wonderful to stay at. The staff is great, the rooms are fantastic, the beds are a bit hard, so half our party liked them, half didn't, but the positive's far outweigh the hard beds. The area is full of little shops and restaurants, and about 8 blocks from Wriggleyville. And the best part is it's quiet at night.

« Nice place, good price, good location »

The room was nice, the location was convenient, and the price was reasonable. There are plenty of recusants in walking distance and it seems to be a nice neighborhood. Parking is a bit spendy, but it is Chicago

    « Comfortable and clean »

Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Bed was very nice. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Close to bus line into the city and close to the park along the lake. Breakfast included. In a neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shopping.

    « Cute and Comfy »

What a fabulous hotel! I had trouble finding a reasonably priced place to stay in Chicago for a business trip until I came across this hotel. I could not have been happier. They have a cute little courtyard out front and such a cozy lobby. It looks nothing like a Best Western. The hotel has so much charm. The rooms are a bit small but charming and comfortable. They offer free breakfast so that was a nice surprise. My only complaint is parking. It's not clear where or how to go about finding parking. There wasn't an unloading zone out front so I drove around the block until I decided to temporarily pull into the parking garage next door. It turns out, that is where you are supposed to park, I guess, unless you want to do on street parking. The garage is valet and a bit pricey but I suppose typical for a busy city. In any case, I would definitely stay here again!

Rooms are fabulous, large, modern and very clean. The beds are very comfortable as are the pillows. The staff is courteous, friendly and knowledgable of the immediate area. This hotel in my opinion, is a good value. My only criticism is lack of chairs in the eating area while enjoying the complimentary breakfast.

Great Hotel and location. Quaint hotel inside and out. Great breakfast and work out room. The price was reasonable considering the area and very close to Lake Michigan on the north side of Chicago. I've stayed at many Best Westens and this one would be top rated and I will return.

« Lovely alternative to downtown. »

Our four-night stay was lovely. Many amenities and the room was perfect. Easy bus or train ride downtown great things to do and see in the immediate neighbourhood as well. The staff was friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the front counter staff who offered great restaurant and sightseeing advice. I'd highly recommend this location.

« Nice neighborhood hotel near lakeshore »

Nice hotel alternative to downtown. Lots of buses close by (took the 151quite a bit at Lakeshore & Hawthorne which offered beautiful lake views along the way) and the Red Line is a 10 minute walk. Quiet/safe neighborhood - with some beautiful streets/houses - and very close to The Chicago Diner. (Ate there many times!) Also very close to Wrigley Field (which was nuts during our stay when they won the wild card- sad face Cubs). Hotel looks more like an inn from the outside - very charming. It has a very pretty courtyard out front where you can eat breakfast in nice weather. Standard queen room was fairly small and dark - just had one small window overlooking a parking garage - but the bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice. Since they allowed us to check in at 11 am, I didn't push for a different room, but go for one that overlooks the front courtyard if possible. The breakfast (standard, meh) is served in a tight area with no seating, but you can sit and eat at a few tables and seats in the lobby. They do offer free water/drinks/fruit/coffee/tea throughout the day, though. Staff was adundant and friendly. There is an elevator (can be slow) and they'll hold your bags for you at the front desk, which was really helpful. WiFi was reliable in the room. Frig and microwave came in handy. Like all hotels that once allowed smoking, I could really smell it when entering the hotel, but it wasn't noticable in the rooms. But all the clean clothes in my suitcase that I didn't use reeked of smoke upon unpacking. Ugh. I loved Chicago. I can't wait to return (in the spring) :)

    « Chicago's Best »

I go to Chicago frequently for business and absolutely love this hotel. The staff are wonderful, it is clean and located in a great part of the city. It is like home away from home for me and I wouldn't want to stay anyplace other than Best Western Hawthorne when visiting Chicago.

    « Long weekend »

Long weekend in Chicago - good location for lots of options to explore Chicago and nice to go back to a comfortable hotel. Breakfast at the hotel meant that we were fueled and ready to explore and experience lots of activities.

« Clean and cozy hotel »

We have stayed at this hotel for several years now. It is a smaller property, which we really like. The front desk staff is kind and helpful, as well as the breakfast attendant and housekeepers. It is also in a great location, the Lakeview neighborhood is nice and Magnificent Mile isn't very far

    « VERY PLEASANT STAY »

Our son works in the area and decided to stay near his work rather then where he lives. EVERYONE at this Best Western was VERY pleasant. Every employee would always welcome us with either a hello or good afternoon. GREAT Stay and the Cinnamon rolls were awesome.

    « Lakeview Neighborhood Hotel »

I didn't have enough space to take my family in on their visit to the city while I was living in Wrigleyville, so this spot was the best place to accommodate them in the neighborhood and we were able to avoid the taxi rides back and forth into the city where the majority of guests can stay. This local hotel has been renovated to offer spacious, comfortable 4 star quality rooms and they serve free breakfast in the morning! The staff was very hospitable and this hotel has become my family's hotel of choice over the years. Much recommended hidden gem in Lakeview!

« Good hotel but not cost friendly »

The hotel was wonderful and everyone was great. The price is on the high side but I did have a two bed room. The maid came in and cleaned the room and the checkout clerk helped me check out early with no last minute costs.

« Chicago Cubs three game trip for my mom's 85th birthday »

This was such a great find. The people including housekeepers, front desk, and valets were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and included a fridge and microwave which came in handy for leftovers. It's a weird thing the but the light in the bathroom was the best I've ever had in an hotel room. The Hawthorne was walking distance to Wrigley Field and there is a Treasure Island grocery (kind of like a Trader Joes.) We got some salads, fruit, crackers/cheese, and wine for after night games which was good since Wrigley has limited food options and none very good. The breakfast included in the room price was ok with many choices including hot foods. The patio outdoors was a great place to enjoy coffee in the morning or wine in the afternoon.

« Best Western Hawthorn Terrace »

The good --Nice area to stay in and easy access to transit lines .Nice to be able to go in and out of parking garage though so much is close by we didn't need to. Parking cost is what you would expect in Chicago area though you will receive a break staying there. Quaint inside and out . Room was clean and everything worked. Very nice Tile shower. Breakfast was nice with Cheese omelets and sausage. Bacon was see through thin though tasty. Cereal, muffins and milk orange juice and yogurt were available in small fridge with glass front so it was cold and not sitting out. The Bad--- the mattress in Room 21 was horrible due to the springs could be felt making sore ribs and back. We flipped the mattress with no relief , we are not picky about beds though this one is a goner.

    « Nice and Easy »

This was our first stay at the Best Western. We booked our room through a third party website and perhaps because of that, we were given a room directly behind the elevator on the fourth floor of their new building. I stay in hotels almost half the year, and I must say that their elevator is the quietest elevator I've ever encountered. Not once in our two day stay did we even notice. The room was immaculate, complete with mini-fridge, microwave and a large modern bathroom. Plenty of restaurants in the area, and with Ann Sathers across the street for breakfast, we passed up the complimentary breakfast. When we came back and saw the spread, we were sorry we did. Our only glitch was getting charged for three nights parking instead of two nights, but the front desk clerk fixed it immediately. Kudos to the hotel. A worthwhile stay!

    « Clean and modern »

We had a king suit and it was really nice. Parking is right next door ($38 overnight), but it is a great location and easy to get to anything in the city even if you didn't have a car. The room was really clean and all the furnishings and decor were really updated. I would recommend!

    « Winterwonderland and rain-like showers »

When my boyfriend and I arrived we were immediately greeted by the beautiful outdoor lights and firylights they put up on the trees near the entrance. It was bloody cold, January, but when we stepped inside the reception area my hearth warmed up as I saw the cozy interiors. The rooms were in the other building, and I was scared that my expectations would be disappointed, because this building did not look as good. But we came to our room, stepped inside and I LOVED everything about it! Awesome bathroom, loads of space, also in the bedroom-area and there was even a little kitchen with a coffee-machine and different coffee capsules that you can choose from! I spent the most beautiful time there... the shower head was huge!! It felt like it was raining in the shower. The breakfast was free and really good. we are vegans and we had a good range of stuff that we could eat there, the bagels were delicious :) Wonderful hotel, and in a cool neighborhood, too!
