SureStay by Best Western Castro Valley

I was very happy with the location of this hotel, and how quiet it was given that it was only one block away from a major freeway. The price I got for my king bed room was great, just a little over $100 including taxes. I arrived late, and the night clerk was very helpful and friendly. I left early the next morning for the airport, so did not try out the breakfast, but was pleased with how clean my room was. My only issue was that the television did not work at all, it said it was a dish connection, but there was no way that I could find to get the device to work.

This is an older motel that recently joined the Best Western family and is working really hard to be up to their standards. People do need to understand that this is considered a "budget" motel in the Best Western family. As such, I have been staying at this motel since 2016, and have watched it update the rooms. My favorite room is a large one that I'm able to do my yoga in the mornings. There's a coffeemaker in the rooms, but if you're a coffee person, you may want to check out Philz, Peet's or Starbucks down the road in the Castro Valley Village! There was a working fridge and microwave in the room. The previous stay I had mentioned that the HVAC unit had a maintenance icon on it and the toilet had been running - both items were fixed! I enjoy staying here as a single female, because it is a safe place. I've never had any issues w/crime or weirdos approaching me here. They have a lot of cameras around the motel and they are monitored most of the time. There is a decent shopping center across the street w/a Safeway, Subway and Panda Express in it too. The BART station is pretty close too. You are also near 580, which leads you to 238 >880.

Loved the size and setup of the rooms. We stayed in the “suite”. 2 bedrooms, frontroom with huge couch, big closet and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Little fridge was really cold, we didn't try the microwave Hated NO shampoo and only one soap for 3 adults. How do you have one teeny tiny little bar of soap for 2 bathrooms? I was shocked by no shampoo, had I known to bring some it wouldn't have been a big deal

Old and worn-out building, Dirty carpets, not well maintained. Location is an advantage as this close to shopping area. Walk to BART station is perhaps the only advantage. Many restaurants nearby, but in an impoverished area. Won't recommend.

Blood on comforter, first room had dirty drugged out lady in it, crumbs all over the place in the room, gum stuck all over the bedpost. Stay on the other side of Castro valley at the holiday inn. When checking out 2 days early the manager who came out in shorts, wifebeater and no shoes or socks wanted to cop me an attitude about changing rooms. So you wanted us to go to now a 3rd room? No I will just check out and stay somewhere else.

Fast, friendly checkin, close to freeway on ramp. Comfortable room with refrigerator and microwave. Nice shower. Continental breakfast had fresh fruit bananas and cuties, bottled water, various oatmeal pkts, single serving boxed cereals, bread for toast, single pkgs of various types of danish hot coffee, hot chocolate and hot tea

The rooms were always cleaned after my return from work and never had to worry about coming back to a slept in feeling room. Even though it was I who slept there last I still like it made up freak for another fresh nights sleep.

The bathroom floor was filthy. I spilt a little water on the floor then wiped it up with one of the white hand towels and at the result of that I saw how dirty the bathroom floor really was. I would not stay at this hotel based on their cleanliness of the rooms. By the bed on the window side of the bed was a big dirt stain the size of small round end table it was really gross. I was too tired to look for another room.

The guy that checked us in was beyond what I expected. Turned out to be a very caring empathetic pleasant guy. We'll be returning in 2 days and staying there again. I'm so impressed with cleanliness of the place and just the level of care from the employees.

This hotel was disgusting. The sofa pull out bed had crumbs all over it and a sheet with a large yellow stain on it. The coffee maker still had a used filter in it. I would not recommend. I would look elsewhere for a hotel.

We could hear and understand words spoken in adjacent room. Breakfast area was not accommodating for diabetics or someone with a cane and had no chairs or tables to sit at. Desk clerk was nonchalant and did not want to do any customer service.

The customer service is exceptional. Les goes above and beyond to take care of customers. I have stayed at this property many times and have no complaints. The rooms are always quiet, clean & comfortable.

Our downstairs rooms were very clean and reasonably quiet. The beds were very good. In the lobby, the breakfast offerings had good choices like muffins, toast and cereals. Les will help with anything you may need. He is the best!

When deciding where to stay during an out-of-town family party over the weekend, we didn't just decide on a SureStay/Best Western hotel, we looked for a cool weather city. We were coming from 107 degrees weather in the Central Valley. The SureStay/BestWestern hotel in Castro Valley provided that and more. It provided us with a beautiful weather and pleasent stay. The service was excellent. Thank you!

This Best Western property was disappointing. Outdated, maintainance issues, furniture stacked and stored in the closet with a broken light. Poor selection of items for breakfast. I hope that BW will take the time to review their listing of this property.

Motel provides good option in a safe environment compared to others in neighboring cities. We found it conveniently located to East Bay destinations and were able to access BART for trip to San Franciso.

When I walked into this room I was overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana. After just a few minutes in this room my lungs hurt from the lingering smoke in the soft surfaces. There was an open beer can in the fridge and the walls had dried up drips of some gross brownish liquid. I was so uncomfortable that I left and drove over an hour home rather than stay. The only positive was that when I asked for a refund the guy at the desk was accommodating and kind.

Experience was wonderful. Thank you to all the staff. I have a disability and they came to my room to check me in and put all my stuff in my room for me because I couldn't.. I will stay there any time I'm in town

I have been traveling in the U S since October 2021 and stayed at many hotels, if I can't stay with friends. This is my longest hotel stay, 7days to quarantine myself before flying home. I am most satisfied with SureStay Castro Valley. Room was clean and had the basic amenities I needed day to day. Wifi was fast and reliable. Manager Les was most amiable and the location, most convenient for me. There is a Safeway Supermarket across the street, many restaurants and mostly a business office and mailing center nearby, all walking distance from the hotel

Overall, very good stay. Good location, convenient and near interstates Place is quiet. Staff is good. Very approachable. Food is grab n go. Water Apple n danish. Rooms are spacious. Internet is so so.

I've been here many times before . You won't find a better deal in Castro Valley . Rooms have carpets , not that cold hard plastic fake wood some places now have . Rooms have a mini frig and microwave ...as well as a hair dryer , ironing board and coffer maker . Back units are ground floor so there's no one above you . Check out their web site for more info .

Found the room to be clean and comfortable. Bed was excellent and air conditioning and internet worked great. Easy location just off interstate to access East Bay and great value for the cost. Would stay there again.

Everything about this property is just perfect - especially for the value. Check in was a breeze. The gentleman at the front desk was polite and professional. The room itself is well designed, cozy, and clean. Just perfect!

I have stayed at this hotel for more than 10 Years. It is my First choice when staying in the Bay Area. The value is phenomenal. The staff are always accommodating, especially Les who has managed for years. He always recognizes me by voice and holds a room whenever I need one.

We've stayed here a few times coming in from Southern California on our way to San Fran. It's a very affordable and decent place to stay. Simple clean rooms and very quiet. I like that it is across the street from a grocery store with shopping and eateries right down the street. Les is the manager and he is very friendly! We'll be staying here again!

I have stayed in this hotel many times whenever I'm in the Bay Area. I've always been satisfied with the service and hospitality. Last time I checked in it was at night and the weather was cold. Les knew of my late arrival so he had turned on the heater in my room. I really liked that. The rooms are clean & quiet so I had an enjoyable night of sleep. The grounds of this site is well kept. I would recommend this hotel to family & friends when they need to spend a night or two when they are in the area. I would rate this place with 5 stars. Thank you Les and staff. Best place in Castro Valley . Manager is cool . Room had mini frig / microwave ... Extra electrical sockets / USB ports . Back units are ground floor so you don't have anyone above you. Off the street so no traffic noise .

The room is extremely filthy. There was visible residue all over the TV screen and the TV base and also on flat surfaces like countertops and top of dresser. I couldn't even put my clothes into the drawers because there was visible dust and pieces of something I could not identify. The carpet had lots of specs like it had not been vacuumed. Also there were visible stains on the sheets that the bed was made with. It seemed like the room was not properly turned over. This is completely unacceptable to leave a room this way and why would housekeeping not relay the state of the room to the office correctly. I started my stay the day after daylight savings time and I noticed that the clock in the room had not been reset. These things made me very uneasy and my stay completely unsatisfactory.

clean quiet close to everything and having a minimum number of characters has absolutely aggravated me and takes away from a review that is succinct and truthfully transmits my feelings about this hotel

This little gem of a motel is located in a prime spot: near 580/880/238, BART, Safeway across the street and numerous food choices right down the road. The rooms close to the street can be noisy from commute traffic, so it's best to request a room away from the street. The room I stayed in was clean, quiet and the bed was super comfy!! The front desk clerk, Les, is very helpful and polite no matter the hour! Felt very safe here (single female) and the parking lot is very well lit at night.

Have to say this made my trip home again. After been on the road for 2 and half weeks again this hotel made my relaxing days just that. Les you are a star again and so good to see you after 3 years. Again that home feeling when the manager is like that. Room just perfect and the same one I got last time. Peaceful and cosy and just right in Castro Valley to do your things. Bart station 2 mins away so getting into SF no problem. All in all this is a wonderful hotel and great staff. I will go back home again one day.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Castro valley inn. It is very conveniently located. The rooms are very clean. The beds feel new. Each room has a microwave and a refrigerator. The prices are very reasonable, under $100! The only negative is that what they call breakfast is pastry from the grocery store. I guess that's okay because of the great deal!

On arrival I requested a ground floor room. After a bit off juggling the helpful manager got me sorted. Nice room, comfy bed, fridge, microwave. The motel is 35 minutes away from downtown. We used the Bart (tube) which ran three times a hour. Dont even think about driving in as can take two hours and parking is $25hr. We enjoyed the motel that much we stayed an extra night. Would have been full marks but there is no pool and it was 100deg. Would return.

Clean and very comfortable beds. Location is great and close to main highways, which made our stay very convenient to get around Oakland. 15 minute drive to Oakland International Airport. Staff was very friendly and continental breakfast was included. I would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The king size beds were so comfy, we got good night sleep the days we were there. The staff were always there if we needed help or directions to places. The big bonus was having Safeway right across the street to grab groceries. I would highly recommend this place to my friends.
