Stayed on my own with with friends also staying at same hotel. Reception warm and welcoming. The room itself was in good order but odd things like light switches hidden behind furniture and half way up wall. The TV was a little outdated. We had a few drinks in the bar before going to bed and staff made it feel very relaxed. Jodie at breakfast had a good sense of humour to cope with the multitude of 'dad jokes' so early I the morning!
Great hotel with friendly staff. Good location and comfortable clean rooms with free parking that's a bonus. Recommended to people coming Bradford. Rates are favourable and rooms spacious. We appreciate opportunity of having stayed here
We Syed for the Fawlty Towers experience with an evening meal included. We felt that we were in a Fawlty Towers episode. The actors were amazing. The food was lovely, the staff are professional and courteous. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We could not fault the whole experience. This is our third visit to The Guide post and won't be our last.
For a 3 star hotel this certainly exceeded my expectations! Stayed in a suite and for the price we paid including breakfast it was definately worth it! lovely big room and inpeccably clean. Everything about our stay was just perfect. The staff and how they were exceeds 4 star service! The restaurant was nice and the food and service excellent. Breakfast was lovely with a great selection available. The beds were really comfy too. Free and easy parking is always a bonus too. Everything about our stay was just perfect!!! Ive stayed in many 3 star hotels but this out shines them all. Well done BEST WESTERN BRADFORD GUIDE POST! you could not be better than you are already. Thank you for giving me and my daughter such a lovely stay.
3 star service for a high price Room tiny but adequate for 1 person, free Internet but savoy breakfast price c £15, Middle of an industrial estate so if you want to sleep past 6am and my room was 10 feet from the road , forget it Bed.. Standard double but comfortable Doesn't compare to other budget* chains on quality or price
Really liked this hotel. It was very clean with all the basic facilities. Food was great as we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good sized very comfortable rooms. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend.
Good value for money stay. Facilities a little dated but completely adequate. A little way out of town but easily accessible by road. The Hotel was clean and the staff were helpful. There is secure parking provided. We would recommend the hotel for an overnight stay.
We stayed here for 2 nights for just sister's wedding. The hotel is fine although quite dated so if it's luxury you're after this isn't for you. We looked a suite as 2 adults and 3 children, the room was a good size but was quite dated and could do with updating. It was clean but I think due to the age of the furniture and fitted wardrobes it was a bit musty. The suites are located very far from reception and it's quite a walk and two flights of stairs to get there, there are no lifts. We opted to have breakfast on both days and on the first it was made to order and well, the second was buffet and we were told food was replaced every 10 minutes. It wasn't and the quality wasn't great, for example fried eggs looked runny but were rock hard, clearly been sat for a long while and not worth the money we paid. Juices were empty and not topped up despite us and several others arriving for breakfast after. Overall the stay was fine but just wouldn't be in a rush to stay again.
Had a lovely stay as part of a wedding party. The staff were so friendly, polite and had great banter! They worked so hard all day and night but always with a smile! Thank you all! Especially to Jodie who went above and beyond for us. Everyone had a lovely time
A good nights sleep despite several private functions on in the hotel. Friendly staff. Room spacious and clean. Bathroom bright and clean. Room was a little warm overnight but comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee facilities in room. Beds were comfortable and clean.
Arrived a little early to check in but was met by a very pleasant receptionist who booked us in as we were attending an afternoon funeral tea of our friend. The room allocated was spotlessly clean, comfy bed, nice big bath sheets and comfy beds. At breakfast we were served again by a very pleased waitress who took our order and the food was freshly cooked and plenty of cereal choice, juices, fresh fruit and continental breakfast foods. Overall a great experience and would definitely return and recommend to friends
Rooms are a bit dated but spotless clean, bathroom was spotless and modern and very spacious had Lovey night sleep , breakfast was very good but a massive big shout out to the young staff especially callum who couldn't do enough really great attention and attitude well done .
We stayed for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding in the area. The decoration in the rooms was a teeny bit tired, but overall it was not too bad. The en-suite was clean and tidy, with good water pressure to the shower. The bar was comfortable, breakfast was generous and well cooked, staff were friendly and helpful. Good for a couple of nights.
Just wow had our wedding there 24/08/24 the place is amazing and the staff are so helpful was perfect from start to finish the rooms are beautiful if you are planning to get married get it done at the guidepost you will not regret it me and my wife will be going there more now
My son got married here so we stayed at the hotel as we had a long drive home, It was perfect. The room was clean and a nice size, it was dark and quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a shower over the bath and shower gel and hand wash was supplied. There was tea and coffee and good sized mugs on the desk plus a hairdryer in one of the drawers. We didn't have any dinner but the breakfast was great, there's fried breakfast to order plus a buffet style table with cereal, toast, fruit and the usual picky bits hotels put on. The staff at this hotel were amazing, from the time we walked in through the door where we were greeted by Lynsey, right up until the day we left. The wedding went well and every member of staff that helped out all looked like they wanted to be there, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend staying here, not just for a wedding but on any occasion.
Bed was really comfy. Room was really quiet. Breakfast good. Staff at breakfast and in the bar were great. Two little gripes - receptionist told me breakfast would be served until 9.30 but told everyone else 10am! (10 am was the correct time). Also, urine in toilet in room on arrival and black mould around shower.
Very clean room, decor a bit tired but not so much that it affected my stay. Had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant food good and service first class. All staff were very friendly. For the price you pay you will struggle to get better, I will be using it again in the future
It's a few years since I last stayed here and I was pleasantly surprised by the refreshed look of the rooms and restaurant. Everything appears clean and modern. Staff are, as always, very helpful and friendly. The Guide Post provides good accommodation at a reasonable price; what more can you ask for?
We stayed for one night for a visit to a concert at the Piece Hall in Halifax. The room was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Good breakfast. The hotel had good car parking was located only 15 mins walk from Low Moor railway station, so we didn't need to use the car once we arrived.
Stayed here for an overnight stay with my husband and our family for his 60th birthday. Five of us in total. Paid 10.95 extra for each of us to have the breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable, no problems there, but I wouldn't recommend the breakfast. There was no table ready for us, once it was laid, we ordered 5 eggs and 5 black pudding (that's how they do it and the rest is buffet). Please see pictures below as to what we were offered. Four eggs arrived and two black puddings, there's five of us remember. Complained at receptionist, felt like we needed some refund on this shamble. She was having none of it, just telling us no manager available, even though according to other reviews THERE IS ALWAYS A DUTY MANAGER AVAILABLE!! Anyway, I've emailed the hotel with photos and no reply so hence my review
I was very happy with my two-night short stay at this hotel. The room had ample space for a business traveller and, a good amount of power sockets evenly distributed around the room. Large desk and suitable chair for laptop working into the evening. Nothing broken and a half-decent shower to boot! (unlike most hotels). The staff were very happy and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you to Alice who seemed to be on site from dawn to dusk serving both my breakfasts and evening meals with a smile and polite lite conversation. I was in a room on the ground floor, not sure if there was a herd of elephants on the first floor or if the floor just passed all the noise down. Would be nice to have bottled water in the rooms when the weather is hot. While the wifi is free it's not fast by modern standards for a city centre. I ended up tethering from my phone which was picking up the lightning-fast 5G signal from the nearby mast. Hotel has two car charging spaces in their small carpark but these were in use when I arrived each evening. Looking through my charging Apps they didn't appear on my app maps as available charging points and I didn't want to install yet another app so didn't use these. Would be nice to see BW rollout the same charging company across the whole UK rather than each hotel doing its own thing. The food was good but the menu was a little limited. I would happily use it again. Thank you for your service!
Stayed 2 nights at the Best Western, great hotel. Parking only a few spots in the car park, however in street parking available. Easy check in. Room was great for 2 adults and 1 child. Room didn't have an iron and ironing board, once I asked they brought that into us immediately. No lift in the hotel, however only 1 flight of stairs. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Easy to get around from the hotel. Would highly recommend to anyone.
This hotel was so disappointing, The hotel was not like the photos on the website. We arrived at reception which was so messy from a previous wedding, room were dated, pillows smelt awful, headpost was dirty, our rooms were so far from one an other, ridiculous. So much noise as well. The rooms were so dated, I would never go back
Booked into this hotel for a visit to see friends in Bradford. The location for us is great with decent rooms and locked parking opposite the hotel. We opted for B&B only and breakfast was lovely with great choices and good service. Rooms are comfy and clean with tea, coffee and toiletries. Will certainly be booking again on our next visit to see friends
Lovely Hotel, good location for exploring the Bradford area. Stayed 2 nights, nice comfortable room, very clean with tea/coffee making facility. Very good restaurant, excellent menu selection and good quality of food. Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts and had dinner one night. All of the staff were lovely, so friendly and helpful. Thank you for a great stay at your Hotel, would definitely recommend!!!
Stayed just the one night, and everything was absolutely fine. Clean comfortable rooms, hot shower, fluffy towels and an awesome breakfast. Plenty of parking, and even an EV charger, although we did not use. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and efficient. Would recommend.
Thank you Team at Best Western Guide Post. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. A very friendly welcome, bar and enjoyable evening meals and breakfast served by great friendly staff. A nice comfortable room with sufficient toiletries and tea/coffee making available too.
The Guide Post Hotel is well located for my business commitments, with excellent secure parking, upon arrival, I was greeted as if an old friend, a very relaxed and welcoming approach. My room was comfortable if a little tired, but spotlessly clean, dinner in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced, excellent breakfast options in the morning, all cooked to order, will definately stop again, and would recommend.
The room was clean and tidy. The 2 staff on reception were very helpful. The restuarant was closed because I arrived late but the girl on desk pointed me in the direction ofTesco extra. I was surprised how cheap the bar was not London prices. Would stop again if up that way. Thanks Best Western.
My wife and I spent a Fri, Sat & Sun at the hotel at end of June. We were attending a formal dinner there on the Sat night. Comfortable bedroom but the TV remote didn't work properly and it took me some persistence with Reception Staff to get it fixed. The hotel has only one Disabled Parking Bay on site, but general provision for guests' parking is excellent with the hotel providing a large car park the other side of the road from the accommodation. Foid was excellent and table service was swift. Staff very friendly. Would have given 5 stars but for the initial response to my TV remote control issue.
This was our last overnight stop after taking our motorbikes round Scotland on the NC500. Amanda was very welcoming and made us feel quite at home. Other members of staff recommended an excellent pub for real/craft ales that was just around the corner. Breakfast was a delight with Jodie being the perfect hostess. The food arrived quickly, was ample, hot, cooked and presented nicely. The staff here made the stay really enjoyable. It was a great end to our holiday and a good use of Tesco Clubcard points.
I stayed one night on a work trip and having had kniptions (sp?) negotiating the bonkers Bradford traffic, it was a delight to be greeted by friendly staff and a comfortable, clean room. I slept like a baby and the breakfast was delicious and served a smile. Special thanks to Amanda who went above and beyond. Wholehearted recommendation.
We stayed here for 2 weekends in a row whilst visiting friends and attending an event, the staff members working on both Saturday 8th June and Saturday 15th of June, we checked in around 3pm ish and was greeted by lovely staff and given our room, the room is cosy and it was clean and comfortable.
My wife and myself have just stayed at the guide post hotel bradford yet again. To any travelling parties I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as it's very clean, great food and very friendly staff, we have stayed 7 times now and we have had a great stay everytime.
Excellent stay helpful friendly staff fantastic service and food nothing was to much trouble we enjoyed notional fish and chips in restaurant afternoon tea was great and tribute night with dinner in spar bar thank you everyone who made our stay so special
Very welcoming staff, that was the best part. The hotel is very dated, something from the 1980's, at least. Our room was a good size but the mattress was very old and poor quality, long overdue a replacement. The bathroom was big enough for 2 but the grout around the bath was very mouldy, we also had a number of hairs in the bath that were not ours. The toilet roll was the cheapest money can buy so you use more than usual. We had booked breakfast but i would recommend you don't, it was AWFUL, the cheapest of the cheap ingredients in the worst tasting cooking oil I've ever tried. We left the meal and opted for a banana instead. Overall, not worth the money paid and we would NEVER come back, there's cheap and then there's the "Best" Western in Bradford.
The only problem was I think the heating is centrally controlled. That's fine during the day but it got a bit chilled at night so it gave my arthritis a bit of stick. Apart from that there's nothing wrong with the place. Polite, helpful staff. Great breakfast. I will certainly stay again next time I'm visiting friends in Bradford.
Staff went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Clean and cosy room.
Took a girlfriend here for a night and all was well. Functional room with a real bath, large TV and hot drink making facilities Nice breakfast options cooked to order and polite and efficient staff made this a bargain price and pleasant experience. A good reliable budget option that is suitable for those who drive and do not expect much locally as it is on an industrial estate.
The hotel is well sign posted and easy to find. The check in online was straightforward. The staff very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. Would definitely stay there again.
Stayed in this hotel for a wedding and would definitely stay again, after checking into another hotel in the area that was absolutely filthy we had to leave, we called the guide post and was offered the last room (so lucky for us!) room was absolutely spotless and the bed was so comfy! On arrival the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. 10/10 Thank you for a lovely stay and being so accommodating.
i stayed here because I was going to a wedding. The staff were amazing and very helpful. Everywhere was spotless clean. The food was delicious. Tea and coffee in your room and TV. I would certainly stay there again. Thank you for making my stay enjoyable
Very comfortable and welcoming. On site food is good, rooms comfortable and sensibly priced. Thank you. While i was here on a business trip it is worth noting that while not city centre location it is within easy access of centre and associated attractions
We used this hotel as a base while attending a family celebration. The hotel was ideal for our needs. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which made our stay very pleasant. Our room was quiet and had everything we needed. The only area for improvement was the bathroom, this could do with an extractor fan as it was very steamy and the shower was a little awkward to use. Thank you
We found the Guide Post Hotel very easy to access from the M62 link and in a surprisingly quiet location. Our twin room and bathroom were spotless and the beds most comfortable. Lovely and varied breakfasts and evening meals topped only by the staff themselves who are just brilliant. Our second visit and, health permitting, not our last.
The staff were friendly and showed their personality (rare these days!). They made me feel welcome whilst being professional and efficient. The hotel and rooms were clean, comfortable and functional.
We loved our stay at Best Western Guide Post Hotel. Was a bit worried when the price come up so cheap. But the only thing that was cheap was the price. The room was clean and very comfortable. All the facilities you would expect. The breakfast was great value and quality products with plenty of choice. The staff were all super friendly and professional. We will use the hotel again, with confidence. Thank you
Spent a lovely weekend here, traveling into Leeds one evening to catch a show. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was cooked to order and excellent. All in all the hotel was tremendous value and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.
Great service from all front of house staff with all being very friendly. Food consistently good and good sized portions, from the buffet for the wake we were attending, right down to the evening meal and breakfast the following day as we stayed over. Bedroom very tired and in desperate need of a refresh, mattress quite firm which isn't suitable for everyone but better than my mums who also stayed over but hers was terrible as there were various places in the mattress where the support was non existent. Will definitely visit again but only for food but as for a staying over probably not.
Very comfortable stay, I was in the area for a business meeting. The small double was adequate for my needs. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was good quality and more than plentiful! The bed and pillows were sooooo comfortable, I slept so well that I was almost late for breakfast. On the downside, the paintwork in room 37 is a little tired and chipped in places and the shower base needs resealing to remove the black residue. Overall good value for money. I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area.
pretty good hotel and location, with decent beakfast, overall would stay again and was good value. the work van was broken into however and whilst there is cctv and a parking facility offsite with fencing, there isnt any security or monitoring of the cctv, so isnt a deterrent as the police said they deal with around 4 per night in the area. that wasnt entirely their fault of course, but it was the only negative whilst staying and whilst we would stay there again, we wouldnt stay there again with works vans
Although it didn't look promising from the outside, the decor was good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Quiet too. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. There was a good choice and quality ingredients at breakfast. Parking was easy outside or in a car park that is locked overnight.
The bed was comfortable.. All utilities worked. Shower was powerful. Some traffic noise and toilet noise as room was right next to the hotel toilets and shared a wall with the disabled toilet. Had dinner. waitresses very friendly and attentive. Food was fine. Nice Eton Mess pudding. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked items freshly made. Coffee was good. No parking available on hotel forecourt but parked in the street jkust outside the hotel. this is my third stay over the years and have not been disappointed. Will stay again.
Just come back after treating my Mum to the Mother's Day dinner, they remembered to put the decorations out I brought down day before and my request for chilled red wine. Absolutely fantastic. Food again, was spectacular....credit to the chef. Lovely service from Alice. More people need to come here for the food. You will not be disappointed. Excellent value. Thank you all again. Be back soon.
I stay here quite frequently. The staff are always friendly, food and drink more than acceptable and its clean. The Hotel is also less than 10 mins from the M62 Motorway so very convenient I've tried most hotels in this area of Bradford and its undoubtedly the best 'value for money' hotel around.
I generally stay in a Premier In when I am working in Leeds but I often stay in Best Westerns in the States and received a breakfast on us email so I thought I would try it. This hotel was in a quiet area but accessible and had a large car park across the road which is locked overnight. The rooms was extremely clean and although the furnishings were a bit old it was very warm and hospitable with lots of plugs and 2 mirrors. I didn't have time for a meal last night but the breakfast are was big and bright and the continental selection was very varied. I didn't have time for a cooked breakfast but there was lots of choice and the staff were very friendly. I would certainly recommend this hotel for ether business or leisure
Stayed for a couple of nights ion thee 2 for 1 offer, So we paid a good price for a suite and enjoyed superb breakfast and a lovely dinner. Restaurant not open on Sunday evening but were directed to good pub just up the road. Dinner the next evening was lovely. Staff all friendly and room very comfortable and warm
Great hotel, fantastic staff, was here for our Wedding and nothing was too much trouble for them from start to finish. Food is amazing. Can't fault anything would recommend anyone to hold their wedding here
I had another wonderful stay at The Best Western hotel for 3 nights. Comfortable warm room and lovely breakfast. I slept very well, staff are friendly and very helpful. Looking forward to coming up again in the near future. Certainly recommend it for visitors to Bradford and places near by.
My stay was pleasant the staff were great The receptionist was exceptionally kind nice and professional The first person you meet makes or breaks your quality of stay in a hotel and you have the perfect receptionist at the right place...great
A nice warm twin room albeit the heated towel rail was not working. Comfortable beds and fresh feeling bathroom. Excellent breakfast with exceptional choice. Friendly staff and good location for our short stay.
Very friendly staff. Booked an accessible room and it was very good. Breakfast was also really good. Accessibility with my wheelchair was great. I just struggled a little with the fire doors depending on which way they opened within the corridor to our room. Otherwise great value for money. Thanks
The minute we got to the hotel the receptionist was very helpful assisting with our luggage. The hotel room was located near reception, and was a good size room, the only problem was the shower was over the bath. My husband has mobility issues , therefore we asked for a different room . The disabled room was in use and we were moved the following morning. We definitely couldn't complain as the 2nd room was spacious and had a walk in shower. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meal at the wedding was delicious, and plentiful. The breakfast for both mornings were good quality. We really enjoyed our stay. Also a shout out to the resident DJ?? Good choice of music for the wedding .
Arriving at the hotel, there is limited parking outside with an extended locked car park over the road. Signs highlighting that thieves operate in the area didn't fill me with a positive first impression but the car park appeared to be locked at night. A very warm welcome from the lady on reception who checked me in and explained where my room was. I had been allocated room 38 which is on the ground floor and away from the main function rooms so was in a quieter part of the building for the wedding reception that took place on the second night of my stay. On entering the room, initial impressions were that it was dark and felt dingy. The photos online are obviously taken in good light - unfortunately my room had little natural light even with the blinds open as it backed onto the building next door. On looking round the room, it felt like it had been a good while since it was deep cleaned - there were cobwebs above the TV and wardrobe. I pulled back the sheets to find a very interesting looking stain which I reported to reception and the sheets were changed very quickly (though it raises a question as to how housekeeping thought it appropriate to make up the bed with an obviously stained duvet cover.) On entering the bathroom there were silverfish in the sink and bath - another sign of questionable cleanliness. The room was comfortable enough and as a plus the room was completely dark at night. Being away from the function rooms meant I was not really disturbed by the noise of the wedding which was great considering that they do flag that noise may be heard until 1am. However, the age of the hotel meant that any apparent use of water caused a rattling noise in pipes which continued late at night and started at about 6am. Another gripe (which is not just with this hotel) is that there are no plug sockets by the bed. Overall, this hotel is acceptable for a couple of nights sleep but needs an increased level of cleaning and care. I would have raised my concerns with reception on checking out but unfortunately there were no staff around and I had to leave for an event.
The hotel and rooms were clean. The food in the restaurant was nice and the service was good. Reasonable prices - good value. The location was quiet - Bradford suburbs, close to industrial par of Bradford.
Needed an overnight stay in Bradford while attending The Rock Church Bradford Conference Halifax Road. Hotel only a couple of miles away so perfect spot to land. Not many people staying Friday night so had a very quiet stay. Brekki was fine. Cereal, yogurt and fruit plus a full English for me and a pot of Coffee. Friendly helpful staff. Will stay again next time I'm up that way for sure.
Sent dinner back twice and still cremated breakfast left was disgusting full of water and oil and soggy hash browns internet useless lighting in room and cleaner never turned up god only knows why there were wedding venues here
HAD A GREAT 3 NIGHTS STAY. HOTEL STAFF WERE BRILLIANT. FOOD WAS GOOD. CLEAN AND COMFY ROOM. THE ONLY THING I WOULD SAY WAS ON OUR LAST NIGHTS STAY THERE WAS A WEDDING. THE NOISE FROM THE VENUE WAS LOUD AS OUR ROOM WAS BEHIND THE FUNCTION ROOM. PLUS WAS STILL HEARING PEOPLE SLAMMING DOORS AT HALF THREE IN THE MORNING.BUT OTHER THAN THAT CAN'T FAULT THE HOTEL.
Couldnt fault it. There was a wedding on but we were placed at far end. No noise comfy beds nice and clean and fantastic breakfast. Parking was over the road lots of spaces. Ideal location for us to spend day at Eureka then travel home.
Couple of nights here on business. Room clean and everything worked, but what made the stay was the staff. Cheerful, friendly and extremely helpful - Wednesday night is all-comers arm-wrestling night and I'd warn you not to take on the resident champ Lilly. Maisie is also quite hard and can lift two whole chairs which is two more than Sue! Great effort Team Guidepost! Definitely coming here again!
We had our wedding here and everything was perfect! Lynsey and the team were really easy to organise everything with and unlike other places we'd looked into they were really reasonable with price! Ceremony room was set out beautifully for us in the poppy suite and the spa bar function room was perfect size for our 100+ guests for the evening. Food was all set out and served on time and Ady the DJ was really easy to communicate with and did a great job. All in all a perfect day!
Family room for a good price. King size bed and two full size singles for the kids. Beds comfy and everything clean. Staff were all brilliant and great with the kids too. Hot breakfast cooked to order as well as lots of continental breakfast options.
Lovely comfortable and clean room. Very friendly staff. Tasty breakfast and plenty of it. Also there is a nice bar area. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and we will stay here again when in Bradford
Checked in late but the lady on reception was lovely and friendly even though she was obviously busy as she was also manning the bar. Room was spotless and the bed was very comfy. We'd asked for a quiet room as had seen that some noise could be experienced and the room we were given was perfect and didn't hear any noise at all. Lovely breakfast in morning and again very friendly staff.
We had a super stay, the only downside was that we could only stay for one night. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and the bed very comfy. Fantastic choice of food for breakfast, appetites didn't allow us to taste all that was on offer. We will certainly use Best Western Hotels when we need one in the future.
While the staff were helpful in putting me in a more suitable room for my disability,I feel it's only fair to warn people to check your room before you pay,one our party was given a smoking room and had to be moved due to the smell, also the toilets are a walk away from the bar in either direction much like weatherspoons…..also I have been trying to get hold of the general manger of the hotel since yesterday to see if I am entitled to a refund as I was downgraded to a lower rate room after I'd paid £114 for an un suitable room bit keep getting told she is in constant meeting so people PLEASE check your room BEFORE you pay
Warm welcome. The room was lovely and warm. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Bar area very nice and bar meals good selection. They are painting so looks like they are doing the place up. We will be back soon
Friendly, welcoming, helpful and comfortable. All words synonymous with an established hotel continuing the good work of providing much needed facility to the weary traveller. Thank you Lynsey and the team for making a weekend away from home at short notice manageable. Alongside a selection of food which evokes a memory of times gone by.
Very welcoming hotel and food to a high spec. Room service not available during our stay. Staffing shortage. Pet's not allowed regardless to what other sites say. Overall very nice stay. Parking good and easy to find.
The staff at the Guide Post are the friendliest anywhere and can't do enough for you! The hotel is comfortable and kept very clean and is handy to Leeds-Bradford airport. Overall, it's a great experience to stay there. We stay there each time we come to Bradford to visit family and we hope to be back next year!
This year my husband and I decided to stay at the Guide Post over Christmas and booked from the24th for three nights. We booked the only accessible room. From the moment I walked through the door and was greeted by the receptionist, who informed me that my hubby was in the bar we were looked after by very warm, caring staff who made us feel very welcome and more important they listened to any requests we had and got them right. The food at the hotel was all freshly well cooked and served hot.I especialy enjoyed the breakfast. Both Christmas day lunch and Boxing day lunch ran like clockwork due to the keen eye of the duty manager, whose well trained staff delivered perfect service. The accessible room does need some improvements, not the worst designed room we have stayed in but not the best.I think who ever plans the designs do so without any imput from people with disabilities. Overall for a medium rate hotel we were more than satisfied. All the staff gave 5 star service and I want to say a personal thanks to the night porter who whilst being busy still kept an eye on my husband who went outside in his wheelchair in the early hours of the morning. Finally would we stay again? We booked the room again for the same three nights for next year to make sure we could have the accessible room.
Very down to earth place. The staff are always welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are basic but have all you need and are clean, comfortable and well looked after. The food is good value for money and has never disappointed. Lynsey has been here since we first started coming and has always been warm and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Would recommend this hotel when in the area.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Room was clean and was a good price. Close to Low Moor station with trains to Leeds and Manchester. Would probably stay again as its a clean cosy hotel with free parking
My friend and her family stayed here. They were pleased with the hotel facility and staff. They have had a beautiful night sleep and enjoyed the breakfast…they said they would love coming back to this hotel to stay again,
Had I lovely room freezing outside room was really nice at warm all night as heating was kept on. Just had room only but a few people eating looked really nice. Would definitely stay again really friendly staff too. Stayed 1 night .
Lovely hotel very clean & warm. Temperature was minus outside. Staff Jack on reception & Sue who served us with our breakfast looked after us.. Really enjoyed it & will return. Room was a good size a good size comfortable clean bed & a clean bathroom with lovely soft fluffy towels.
Basic typical chain type hotel, bit out of the way, but quiet as a result. Friendly staff, and this time I had a better room than before, the previous downstairs room was cramped. Very limited parking, but seemed safe enough to park on the street. Did not try the food, but on arrival the place was packed with folks at a function, so they must be doing something right. Price just over £40 for the night, quite reasonable value.
My friend and I were not staying at the hotel we just booked for breakfast. Staff in the dining room were very unhelpful and rude and made both me and my friend feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome, that we took a refund and left to have breakfast elsewhere. Lovely Decor, Terrible Service
This hotel used to be very good,it is now an absolute miserable experience, the manageress and lindsay who is on the desk is rude argumentative miserable, and needs sacking before the hotel goes down the toilet, where it is rapidly approaching, my daughter booked a christmas party evening which was cancelled by the hotel a refund was refused by the manageress and was told she would have to use the £200 deposit so she reluctantly booked a meal for the 5 of us,it was a total disaster she refused to put any music on that you could hear she was insulting the waiter made sarcastic remarks ,it was a totally miserable waste of time and money.shut the place down and sack the rude miserable manageress asap
Great stay, breakfast was great and the kids loved it too. Would defo recommend. Breakfast was of an high quality lots of choice. The staff were great very helpful, could not go enough to help. We will definitely return and the family room was a good size.
Everything was acceptable. The food was good but in my opinion, frozen before and quickly cooked, therefore chewy. We arrived at 8:30pm into the restaurant and the kitchen closed at 9pm. We were made to feel pressured to eat quickly so the staff could leave so we didn't enjoy it as much as we could have it wouldn't stop us staying again though.
THE HOTEL ITSELF COULD DO WITH MODERNISING. THE ORIGINAL ROOM I GOT THE HEATER IN THE BATHROOM DIDN'T WORK SO I WAS ASKED TO MOVE ROOMS. IN GENERAL THE ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE, ALTHOUGH I FOUND THE ROOM COLD DESPITE THE RADIATOR BEING ON AS THERE WAS A DRAFT FROM THE WINDOW. THE STAFF WERE ACCOMODATING AND GAVE ME AN ELECTRIC FAN HEATER BUT THE ACTUAL HEATING WENT OFF AT 2330 AND DIDNT COME BACK ON TIL 0600 SO NOT MUCH GOOD FOR LATE WORKING OR EARLY STARTS. THE WORST WAS THE RESTAURANT - WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THE FOOD - VEGETABLE SOUP NO FLAVOUR AND I ALWAYS THOUGH THAT SOUP SHOULD BE A LIQUID BUT THE BEST WERSTERN VERSION IS DIFFERENT - SOUP WAS HOT BUT SO SOLID THAT MY SPOON STOOD URIGHT IN IT! THIS VEGGIE "soup" WAS SOUP OF THE DAY FOR 3 DAYS RUNNING - SO I SUPPOSE THEY COULDN'T SELL IT. THEN THERE WAS THE SAGGA OF THE VERY ELUSIVE PORK ESCALOPE WHICH WAS SOLD TO ME ON TWO EVENINGS BUT WAS ALWAYS UNAVAILABLE - SO WHY DID THE STAFF SUGGEST THAT THIS WAS THE BEST DISH ON THE MENU - A MUST HAVE !! SO I ORDERED IT - THEN THEY COME BACK AFTER TAKING MY ORDER TO TELL ME THAT THEY WERE OUT OF PORK . ARE THERE NO PIGS IN YORKSHIRE? BUT TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THEY PUT PORK ON MY BILL ! OTHER FOOD WAS ALSO WITH ADVENTURES - LIKE THE STEAK AND ALE PIE WITH MORE POTATOES THAN STEAK - THE SAME APPLYED TO THE DUCK WITH NOODLES - LOTS AND LOTS OF NOODLES BUT THE DUCK WAS THIN ON THE GROUND - PERHAPS IT WENT THE SAME WAY AS THE PORK..... i GUESS I'M NOT IMPRESSED!!!
I've just given the Hilton in Malta a 5 star review and now it's The Guide Post's turn. The hotels are a world apart, but I rate TGP on equal terms. For me it's about the hotel delivering what you pay for (a 3 review) and then going beyond that (a 5 review). We have stayed here many times over the years and never had a bad stay. OK, so there are no views of The Mediterranean (an industrial estate), classy restaurants overlooking the Marina (an honest menu served well and one of the best breakfasts we have), cocktail bar with pianist (drinks served at a reasonable price) and endless sunshine (endless clouds). TGP staff are always chatty and efficient. The guy working the bar and reception, sorry I forget your name, was exemplary and definitely in the right job. Lynsey organised our stay using BW rewards rather than cash. The only BW that seems to be able to do this, the rest always send you back to the main office and I prefer the personal touch by the hotel. So, a bit of a waffle. Put simply TGP is very reasonably priced and because it always delivers beyond that is very good value for money and worthy of a review at the same level as The Hilton where I would expect more because of the cost. See you at Christmas
The staff made our wedding day a day we will remember for ever. Can't thank Lynsey and all the other staff enough. Amazing stay and an amazing wedding enjoyed by all. Excellent food and service. All staff made sure we were comfy and had everything we needed
lovely very clean we thought until we saw the colour of the quilt !!!! come on bw buy new quilts . the bathroom spotless long mirror in the wrong place (DARK corner) not good if getting dressed. in the restaurant evening meal was okay (i had goulash ,lots of meat ,but no rice or anything ,just meat and sauce !!!! breakfast was average ,but no fried eggs ,when asked ,no we don't have them or say i will ask the chef !!!! would we go again ,NO
We chose the guide post for a 2 night break as it was less than 30 mins away from family we were visiting, We found all the staff we encountered very friendly and helpful. We had one of the suites on the 3rd floor which was extremely quiet even thought there was a function on the saturday evening. The room itself was a good size as was the bathroom and very clean, we found the bed comfortable. Breakfast was really good, my husband enjoyed the full english while I had eggs royale which was delicious. We would have no hesitation in returning
We had a comfortable stay, Saturday night was busy with a function but our room was well away from this so did not disturb us. The Hotel is a little dated but was clean and good value. The Staff are friendly and the Parking is free. Although located on an industrial estate this did not affect our stay.
We stayed at the Guide Post for two nights over a weekend and enjoyed our stay. The room was a decent size with a lot of power points, and was very clean. The ensuite bathroom was also clean with almost instant hot water. It didn't have the best shower I've ever used but it more than did the job. The bed we both found very comfortable with spotless sheets. There was a function downstairs on the Saturday night but we didn't hear a thing in the room. We had two good night's sleep. All staff we had contact with were friendly and approachable, which really does make a difference. The breakfast was very good (I loved the sausages) and there was plenty of it. The service for breakfast we couldn't fault. The only slight negative was the bathroom didn't have a working extractor. It didn't come on when the light was switched on which is the normal. It meant the bathroom got a bit steamed up. But that was only a minor thing and can easily be fixed. So I'd definitely recommend the Guide Post to a friend and we'd definitely come back for another stay.
Food was excellent breakfast and dinner. Rooms are in need of a refresh, bed mattress was uncomfortable. Reception staff very friendly and welcoming. Location was excellent for our visit. Public transport links are very near. Room facilities excellent
This was the second time we have stayed at the Guide Post. I have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars. The young man at Reception on our arrival was welcoming and extremely helpful. The breakfasts offered everything we needed. My husband and I had a small double room while my two adult sons shared a twin room. We were all happy with the facilities.
We stayed at the Guide Post for a 2-night mid-week stay and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. Whilst the locality isn't scenic the hotel is ideally situated to visit many local highlights. The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and efficient. The bedroom was large, clean and well serviced. The bed was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both evenings as well as breakfast on two days and found the food excellent with good choices, hot, well cooked and with good portions. We would definitely stay again.
Great breakfast choice. Plenty of easy parking. Room was excellent - lovely built in wardrobe with draws and plenty of fluffy white towels. Very warm and cosy ground floor room with easy access to breakfast and parking.
Everything was perfect, except the suite I stayed in only had one functional radiator and it was very cold in the morning and late at night. Probably just needs bleeding TBH. Good bar. Restaurant looked inviting, but I did not use due my schedule.
I stayed for a nearby event. We had a meal together and the food was good and the service too. My room was clean and had everything needed. No socket near the bed so maybe bring a long charging cable if you want to charge your phone for an alarm in the morning. I had a lovely view over the nearby allotments, which was very pleasinstsff were helpful, and professional I was on public transport but there seemed to be plenty of parking nearby. There is a bus stop nearby and the station is not far away and obviously handy for the motorway
Good night's sleep. My room very near an evening wedding reception (I was not attending) but the disco was turned off at a reasonable time and so did not disturb my sleep. Breakfast was excellent with cheerful staff despite having seen some of them working late the previous evening. Attended a social event at the hotel "The Fawlty Tower's Dining Experience" - fabulous interactive show that included a 3-course meal. This meal was well catered for by the hotel kitchen staff and the veggie option was delightful - not the run of the mill options -well done Guide Post Hotel!
Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, food really good and freshly prepared. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely hotel with plenty of parking. We will definitely visit again
We have just returned from my best friend Tracey wedding which was all conducted at the hotel. From the moment we arrived to us leaving it was excellent. The staff endured Tracey wedding went perfect. The rooms were very clean, the food was beautiful and the staff well they worked so hard ensuring that the day was perfect. Well done to Lyndsey and the team for making our stay and Tracey wedding perfect
Check-in experience was quick, the bedroom was spacious and I was happy there was a bath in the bathroom. Room was quite with nice view over allotments. Good choice for breakfast, menu for cooked, and variety at the buffet. Good size lounge area. Parking easy. Not far from scenic areas north of Bradford.
We attended the wake of my wife's Grandmother. On the 22nd of August. The staff were excellent. Especially the 2 young girls who were running the bar and restaurant. The girl on the bar had her hands full with the family , (many of who stayed the night ) so were about until closing . The young blonde lady who was waiting on was run ragged looking after the restaurant and us all ordering bar meals . Neither of them slowed or let there professionalism slip . I'm terrible with names ( and I had a few ciders ) but hopefully these girls get the credit they deserve.
Location was OK but was a little noisy overnight outside. No air con in room so had to leave windows open on a hot night. Good facilities in room and great breakfast, both English and Continental. Limited parking on site but plenty of spaces on the road
We stayed overnight on a Red Letter Day gift voucher. There are about 8 car parking spots on the hotel forecourt but the hotel has a large free car park across the road & the gates are locked at night. Warm welcome by a young chap on check in(sorry missed his name). We had the restaurant table booked for 7pm so we had pre meal drinks in the bar, reasonably priced and in line with the prices charged in the Chapel House' a pub just 5 minutes walk from the hotel(can recommend that too-a proper pub). The meals were absolutely wonderful & the service from Alice & Emily was first class. We had breakfast on the day we left, Emily on duty again. Food again was first rate & the choice was extensive. The only reason that this review is not 5 star is that none of our devices, 2 iPhones & 1 iPad would connect to the hotel WiFi anywhere in the venue. This was an inconvenience rather than a tragedy! But in this day & age you would expect to be able to get WiFi in hotels of this standard.
I booked this place purely because I needed something at a good price that was close to the motorway. I wasn't really expecting that much of it. But for the price this was a great hotel. The room was nice and cool (during a heatwave) the curtains blocked out all the light. The bed was really comfortable, the internet was fine the food was nice and all the staff were really good. I'll definitely use the guide post again.
My wife and I have stayed here frequently over the last 14 years. As always very friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast selection. Easy booking and checkout. No reason not to return.
Room was good and quiet, breakfast was good with a healthy selection as well as traditional, good coffee in a pot not just sachets, attentive and pleasant, helpful staff. Plenty of car parking and good location Bathroom looked like it had been refurbished fairly recently
Stayed for one night with several colleagues to attend a work event. were able to accomodate us checking in early to get changed before event. The receptionist also acted as bar tender so was constantly busy but very helpful
all staff where helpful & friendly, we have stayed here many times & always feel comfortable, staff are always willing to help in any way possible. Rooms clean & comfortable, would be helpful if there was a grab rail on the side of the bath.
Me and my daughter stayed here for the night whilst going to see a concert at John smith stadium, great hotel lovely building, staff were friendly and helpful especially as I needed a fan as the room was warm, we were in room 29 The TV ariel is loose but I forgot to mention it to reception so maybe they can fix it the Ariel price is stuck in the wall and the cable come off. Sleep was good but the mattresses feel very springy and when you move the make so much noise, maybe time to update the mattresses as I could feel the springs, shower and bathroom were immaculate and body & shower gel in the dispenser on the wall if you forgot yours Plenty of towels too Also hand soap in a dispenser next to the sink, the only problem I have is you can't turn off the heated towel rail and twice we burnt our leg and arm as it gets really hot Maybe put a cap so you can turn it on or off My daughter Slept really well and no noise a lovely hotel to stay at if your visiting Huddersfield or Bradford, the price is excellent A great place with lovely staff
We've just got home from a 2 night stay at this hotel and our first overall impression when we parked up was it looked a nice place, roadside but quiet. There are parking spaces outside but only around maybe 10 I'd say but they do offer a parking lot across the road which it locked at night to keep the cars safe. Check in was quick and the staff were lovely. The room, which was a bit outdated had a double bed and two single beds for the kids which were comfy and clean. The room was really warm when we arrived even though the radiators were not on. We didn't realise till late last night that we could of asked for a fan from reception but that was our fault for not reading the welcome book! The bathroom was clean, good size and had plenty of towels for us to use. There were no complimentary toiletries though so take your own Shampoo, Conditioner etc. They had hand soap in a dispenser on the wall which I thought was nice as normally you'd get bars of soap to use which i personally hate. The shower was good although it was stuck on one power setting as the shower head wouldn't turn for different spray options. The extractor fan didn't work or seem to work in our bathroom either. Our telly wasn't working on the first night so we phoned reception to see if they could sort it and they said they would do it the following morning but they didn't come to look at it. We were out all day at a gig in the Huddersfield stadium anyway and didn't arrive back till 12:30am so wasn't really an issue in the end. We had a few drinks in the bar on our first night and the bar area was nice and clean and had a good selection of drinks to choose from. We never ate from the restaurant but the menu looked like it had enough of a selection to choose from and reasonably priced. There were weddings on on the both nights that we were there but we never heard any noise from the music, drunk guests etc when we got back to the room which was nice as normally the walls are that thin you hear every single bit of noise. If you are staying here to go to a gig at the John smiths stadium in Huddersfield which was the purpose of our stay an Uber from the hotel to the venue cost us just under £18 which I didn't think was a bad price. The Uber back was a lot more though costing us £47 due to the time and place we were getting it from. Overall we had a comfortable stay and apart from the few minor things I've mentioned it was a lovely family weekend away.
Rooms were clean and quiet all staff were friendly. I was allowed to check in early as I had an appointment early in the day. I cant comment on the restaurant as I didn't have a chance to eat there. I would be happy to stay again as the price was very reasonable.
Myself & my partner stayed here for 1 night. It is very quiet especially when it is at the very side of the road as the weather was beautiful when we stayed we had a drink outside before our evening meal. It wasn't a massive menu but it covered all options and the food was cooked exactly as ordered we didn't wait long for our meal & the young girls serving the tables were lovely & so accommodating nothing was too much trouble. The room was extremely clean we could smell the bleach as we walked in so knew it had all been cleaned recently. Everything we needed was on the room there was enough tea & coffee for a few drinks. The breakfast was fab plenty to choose from where you helped yourself to cereals, toast, pastries etc then you also can choose from the hot menu again everything was cooked perfectly- I would definitely stay here again!
Had a wonderful time right from arrival to leaving after breakfast the day after. The staff, the food, the facilities and the great atmosphere made for a memorable event. Would highly recommend The Guidepost Hotel, we had a brilliant time
Its a decent hotel but the rooms are very small but very clean. Toiletries are not great, so its best to carry your own. The staff is very helpful. They have limited parking space which is a slight issue. Overal it was a nice experience
Great service as ever from attentive staff. Clean rooms quite quiet location, maybe a little out of town if city centre bustle is what you want (thankfully I don't). Food is good and portion size very decent. Recommended
We really enjoyed our stay, room was very clean and comfortable. Becca, Linsey and all the staff were really lovely helpful and attentive. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. We felt very welcome and valued.
We stayed just for 1 night as a base for an event in Halifax. We received a warm welcome with a spacious, clean and comfortable room and enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant and a full buffet breakfast the next morning. No complaints at all, it was exactly what we needed and expected for the price.
After a long flight and then an even longer shuttle services to the hotel it was a home away from home. We were welcomed and everything was what we needed at that point, not to mention the most scrumptious breakfast.
We stayed 4 nights bed and Breakfast in 43 which is a nice sized suite. These have been refurbished and are bright and very pleasant. You do have to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to these rooms as there is no lift. We found all staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast every day was first class, the best I have had anywhere. Our evening meal on our first night was excellent but for us, a broader menu would have encouraged us to dine in again. A very nice place to stay.
We did dinner, B and B here. The hotel is spotless and all the staff ( including the trainees) were so pleasant and courteous. The food was excellent and really well presented. There were functions taking place but this did not disturb us at all. It might not have panoramic views from Switzerland but if you need somewhere to stay for any reason I can highly recommend this place
When we arrived, there was a wedding reception ongoing and an engagement party that night. Normally, any noise will disturb me, but we had been placed at the opposite side of the hotel from the festivities, so I had a peaceful night. At breakfast the following morning, tables had been reserved for the wedding party and, while busy, the staff were friendly and efficient. Jack on reception has a great personality and made us feel most welcome. The room was spotless. We had a great stay and will be back again when visiting family in the Bradford area.
We were greeted and welcomed by Jack on reception, he was very pleasant and helpful. The room was excellent and spotlessly clean. We would completely recommend this hotel. The staff were lovely, including the ladies housekeeping the rooms. We had only booked the one night stay which was a shame as we hadn't realised how nice it would be. Would definitely recommend and return there.
Very poor service - very noisy with a wedding taking place and awful reception at breakfast. I ended up apologising whilst the staff member was so rude to us and made us feel so unwelcome. The room was ok but the hotel was just dire !
A warm welcome by reception, allocated room 32 .This room was spotlessly clean. The only problem was the shower ran between hot and cold at the same time. We had dinner on the first night which was good value, but only 2 choices on the set menu which was odd. Breakfast was okay, day 2 we had to endure a wedding party. The restaurant staff were working hard but not enough people on duty.
We just did the one night....stayed with this chain before....but this place was amazing....clean ....well situated and brilliant staff..... I would recommend... We did not breakfast or meal .I have just been told to write at least a 200 word review....I use trip advisors reviews alot but....if I write ..... We just did the one night....stayed with this chain before....but this place was amazing....clean ....well situated and brilliant staff..... I would recommend... We did not breakfast or meal That's all I got to say....I will not be reviewing any more for you Trip advisor....sorry I'm not into essays.
Was attending a party there so decided to book a room. Parking either on site or car park across road Staff very friendly. Easy check in. Room a good size and bed comfy. Struggled with shower over the bath as very deep and hubby waiting for him surgery. In hindsight should have asked for one with walk in shower. Very pleasant stay and nice that you don't have to book out until 11 am.
We wanted a couple of days away close to home, we were given a buy a gift voucher for a 2 day break. We found the hotel easily and checked in with no problem at all. The Hotel was clean and tidy, the restaurant was very nice, breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. Our room was comfortable with all the usual facilities, only thing missing was a bedside or reading lamp, but no great hardship. I would say that the hotel was a little oasis in a busy area, just a couple of miles out of town. Plenty of parking too, outside the front of the hotel and extra across the road.
I have needed to stay here several times for work, great service, comfortable rooms. Food quality is good and would generally recommend to anyone looking for sensibly priced accommodation in the area.
One night stay with dinner and breakfast. The room was very nice and quiet without any outside noise. The food was well cooked and tasty but would have liked a few more choices, could not understand why cheaper things were not included in the choice?. The young man on reception was so accommodating, many thanks Jack very much appreciated.
Excellent overnight stay. Rooms were spotlessly clean, food was beautiful, bar area was very comfortable and the staff were brilliant..in particular the young man who was working reception & bar we had good banter with him. we wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel.
Check-in was simple and efficient. Staff were friendly and attentive. My room was very comfortable with a decent sized en-suite and everything was clean. The bath was a decent size and there was plenty of hot water. Whilst the television was somewhat dated it had a full range of freeview channels and radio too. Breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice and was freshly cooked to order.
Spent 3 nights here for a wedding, everything was was extremely well done. The bar food is really nice. Staff were friendly, rooms were clean although I didn't quite agree to having to pay more money to stay in the disabled room (being disabled is my husband's choice)
great service, solid place if a little dated but does what it says on the tin and does it really well , on repeat visits food can be a little bit repetitive and in fairness is a bit overpriced but then again according to me everywhere is but no qualms! I shall be back!
I have just had an overnight stay for business and enjoyed my visit . The rooms are well decorated, clean and warm . I enjoyed a quiet night no noise from the neighbouring rooms or from the road outside . The food was excellent, I had a salad on room service and the quality and quantity was very good. Breakfast was also good, lots of choice and well presented . The shower wasn't great , water pressure low.. but down to where my room was situated and not a reflection of all room's I was told at checking out. Staff warm and welcoming, I will definitely book again.
Stayed at the guide post with family last week for a couple of nights and had my Mum's rememberance/wake during the afternoon. The wake was excellent, with great food (the chips and chicken selects went down really well), and the cakes bites were very tasty also. The staff were excellent arranging the wake, and it all went like clockwork, so thanks Guide Post. The hotel rooms were warm, clean and comfy, albeit a little dated. The showers could do with a little more power. Breakfast was good, with a fair selection on a quiet day, and the bacon was the highlight. Service overall was very good (cleaning staff were very accomodating), although there were a few mix ups on reception (key cards not working multiple times as an example) that could do with fine tuning. All in all, very good.
The hotel was a lovely place to stay. A friend and I stayed for one night in a King room. The room was clean and big, the bathroom was modern and the bed was comfortable. The staff that we met were kind and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.
Both my wife and I stayed at the guide post on Bradford for one night to rest before our journey back to Devon. Both the staff, accommodation and breakfast was fantastic. The staff were a joy and very helpful and accomdatiing. I've become a rewards member as I'll definately stay again each time up in Bradford and fully recommend the hotel to anyone and everybody. Although it may seem not in a tourist area it certainly is easy access to anywhere in Yorkshire with easy access to the M62 at either junction 25 or Junction 26. Not too far from Haworth with a relatively short drive not taking too long. Ilkley Moor within a reasonable distance as well,. So really a lot of plusses. Looking forward to our next stay with you at the guide post. Peter
A very friendly hotel. It is not a hotel with that much by way of frills but a really decent place to stay at a good rate..The rooms are rather small but the king-size bed was very comfortable and the room service was exemplary.
Fantastic night spending New Years Eve with family. Very friendly atmosphere. Great staff and a very efficient service. The Dj and Singing duo were brilliant :) We would highly recommend paying a visit! Don't be put off by the fact that it's in an industrial area.
We had our wedding reception at the guide post. I changed my mind several times with various things, food, table decor etc before the big day but Lynsey was always on hand to talk things through, nothing was too much trouble. Everything on the day ran smoothly and exceeded our expectation's, the room looked stunning, the food was nice, we had great feedback from family and friends who thoroughly enjoyed the day so a big thank you to everyone who made it memorable especially Lynsey who went that extra mile.
When we arrived the place was freezing cold like they had no heating. They only put the heating on when all the guests arrived so sat with our coats on for the first hour. The food was ok but the ladies toilets stank like raw sewage.Which put me off ever booking this place for a party.
This is the forth time our party has had Christmas lunch. Obviously missed last year but this year as well as the times before the meal has been excellent and at £16.95 per head a bargain. Lynsey now the General Manager has looked after us personally since our first visit. She goes the extra mile to make the visit memorable.
We spent a Saturday night at the Guidepost hotel and it was very busy with a wedding reception and birthday celebrations. On arrival we were apprehensive as it was noisy but I had emailed in advance to request a quiet room and pleased to say we had an excellent sleep with no disturbance. Thank you
The staff were pleasant and helpful, food good, my only concern was the cleaning of my bathroom, there was lots of mould on the grout and tiles, and a disability seat and shower curtain require a thorough clean.
The room was perfect, king room, amazingly clean, perfect spot for my reason for visiting, staff very friendly and helpful! All staff we met where lovely, my only slight issues would be that on the Saturday night they had a wedding on, which I understand, but allocating a none wedding guest directly above isn't fair, especially after a draining day I was up till 2am with wedding noise and doors slamming! The other thing would be possibly breakfast to be served by order. I understand staffing is an issue at the moment. But chewwy sat scrambled eggs im a poached egg girl myself! The evening meal on Saturday was absolutely incredible tho so thank you so much! Your all amazing and doing a great job!
We had a 60th birthday party there for myself, the staff were top marks they could not do enough to make the event run smoothly, breakfast was good but would prefer tin tomatoes lol. Room was clean and tidy
We had a fantastic experience at the guide post. Rooms were spotless and comfortable but the staff really made it for us. They were so accommodating to all our needs and no request was an inconvenience to them. Thank you Lyndsey Jack and Rebecca we'll see you again soon
This was our second visit to the hotel. The rooms are basic but very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable and we didn't have to ask for extra pillows or towels. We had a cooked breakfast both mornings. Everything was done perfectly to order and came steaming hot. The breakfast was plentiful with cereals, fruit, toast, pastries and cookies, all of which you help yourself to. The staff are all friendly and greet you and wish you safe travels. We will definitely return to the hotel in the not too distant future.
This is my preferred hotel in the area. there are a couple of others but this is a smaller, friendlier place where the staff make you feel more at home. Parking is a bit restricted but its never been a problem and they have the use of a parking opposite if needed.
I have used The Guide Post Hotel for several weeks from June 2021 to Oct 2021, whilst staying away from home. Unfortunately my work booked me into a different hotel briefly. They won't be doing that again!. It was lovely coming back to The Guidepost, where I was greeted like a family member, really looked after by young Emily and Jack and Rebecca. I couldn't ask for better. Well worth the small amount extra for a comfy bed, clean and spacious room and a decent meal. Shower just right, TV well positioned and fully functional, radiator fully functioning and windows that opened and closed correctly.. I'll be back Thank you
Lovely staff at the reception and bar. The room was spacious and beds comfortable for the kids and ourselves. Yorkshire Tea was supplied which was a welcome bonus! Shower not very powerful but at least there was hot water. There was a wedding that day but we didn't really hear it except empty bottles being thrown into the bins near our room. The walls are thin so we could hear the family with their small child clearly. Breakfast was fantastic too. The only gripe I would say is that at 5am in the morning we were woke up by a car racing full throttle and hand braking turns for about half an hour outside the hotel! It explains why there are so many speed cameras around the area but none in front of the hotel which is a shame hence why they could get sway with it. Nonetheless, apart from that lovely Yorkshire hospitality.
Stayed here for a wedding the following day as part of the bridal party. Our room was split into two halves with plenty of room for all of us. My only criticisms for the room would be that it would have been nice to have had the choice of other teas (I only drink green tea) - although it was nice to see Yorkshire tea in a Yorkshire hotel. The shower was not a power shower. The beds were a bit close together. However, it covered the whole bridal party. There was plenty of towels for us and a few toiletries. It was very clean. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice - continental - cereals - cereal bars - fruit - plenty of juice - choice of teas and the option of a cooked breakfast with the chance to adapt. The wedding was lovely - Johnathan - the wedding coordinator was lovely. Lastly - but actually most importantly - I spent around 30 hours in that hotel and the staff all worked really hard and long hours. Nothing was too much trouble. Every single member of staff worked hard and was pleasant.
Ever wanted to stay near to Bradford but not have the hustle & bustle we did and found the Guide Post hotel many years ago and never looked back. Ideal for all types of stay and great to access the Yorkshire Dales and Skipton plus heading to the coast and Pickering directions. Excellent staff and food, it is our first call when we are looking to stay in this are. Can be a bit noisy when they have weddings at the weekends but this is part and parcel of the hotel business, just ask when booking. This hotel has no lift but does have ground floor rooms. Quieter ones are behind reception.
I must admit to feeling a bit apprehensive as we pulled up outside here as the hotel is in a very industrial area however we were very warmly greeted. Our room, number 31 was a great size for us, one double bed and 2 singles. Breakfast was very nice and there were lots of cereals and pastries to choose from as well as the cooked breakfast. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, especially Sue, thanks. A great place to use as a base for visiting places around this area.
Stayed here 31st July for 1 night as part of a coach trip. We had a great experience at this hotel staff were lovely greeting us on arrival and couldn't do enough for us, our evening meal was lovely and exceeded our expectations. Our hotel room was modern and clean. Breakfast was also nice with lots of choice. The only drawback was there was a party in the function room below our room which kept us all awake most of the night so we didn't get much sleep but we would still happily return to this hotel !
The staff especially jack were so attentive, nothing to much trouble , the food 5 star quality me and my 5 companions will be returning just for the personal attention xx rooms extremely clean , hotel outlook friendly and spotless actually couldn't pick a fault with this hotel x
First the negatives - bathroom had hairs on the floor, basin, bath and toilet - very disappointed with house keeping. TV - no HD or catch up. Room adjacent to a noisy, busy road that was intrusive. Room very warm with no aircon. Room next to front of hotel with noisy guests outside until after midnight. Positives - breakfast service was absolutely fantastic - very attentive lady. Quality of cooked breakfast was great and exactly as we ordered. Nice and hot. Really enjoyed it.
Lovely modern clean and comfortable hotel just outside city centre with secure car park Nice bar & lounge area Hotel is situated in a quiet area covid secure Very helpful staff Will stay here on a return visit to Bradford
Hotel location is not very close to any takeaways and as the restaurant was closed (due to COVID) food had to be ordered in, plates and cutlery were provided by the hotel so this could be eaten in the room. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful.
The staff were friendly, but the rooms aren't very clean. There were coffee stains on the wall, draws and the table. Even the draws aren't clean. Paid over £60 a night and I think it's overpriced for what you get especially with the worn out furniture. I wouldn't stay again for this reason.
Been here on multiple occasions to stay. Excellent staff! Food lovely! Would definitely recommend to any looking for some where in Bradford! Bonus for somewhere to stay after attending parties. The rooms are clean & beds very comfy!
Really good hotel. Very good attention to detail, very attentive staff. Would like to mention Anthony personally as he was extremely helpful. Food very good and a nice pleasant atmosphere generally in the hotel and restaurant
Best hotel in yorkshire, staff very attentive, best customer service iv ever recieved from the duty manager. Food is delicous, lots of choice from the menu. Recomend the breakfast, fantastic selection of cereals, fruit, danish pastries, yogurts. Followed by a freshly prepared full english breakfast.
We have booked many times at Guide Post in their restaurant for special occasion and always been very happy with their service, food and value for money. It was my parents 70th Wedding Anniversary and we had a party of 24. Normally we sit in the main dining area, but as it clashed with another party, due to lack of space we were given in a private room. Due to having a large party we were asked to forward everyone's order prior to the event, so that the chef had time to prepare the food in advance. Unfortunately the food tasted just like that, prepared well in advance before we received it. It lacked the freshness. Also when we previously came, all the vegetables were brought separately in a dish to help yourself, this time it was already on the plate, and there was a lack of it. One meal they got wrong meatballs with pasta but they brought rice instead and by the time they resolved the situation the rest of us were having deserts. Not ideal. Everyone can have an off day, so one has to be given another chance. We believe that due to a bigger crowd than normal on this particular Sunday, the chef /s and staff couldn't cope with the demand.Maybe its something that needs addressing in the future.
Went here on Friday 13th December for a xmas party night.Have never seen a smaller wine list in a hotel and the quality left a lot to be desired. The D.J played music so loud during the meal that you couldn't hear what other people were saying. Some parties were on an all-inclusive deal and by 21.30 most were half-cut.The gents toilet was closed at 22.30 because it was inhabitable and people were on the dance floor with drinks in their hand resulting in broken glass and spillage of alcohol. There appeared to be no senior management on duty just young and inexperienced staff. When it was privately owned two of our sons got married there and we held our silver wedding there as well as having Sunday lunch every week.Bring back the good old days with excellent staff like John-Pierre,Reg and Julie
both me and my mum and a female friend of mine went to the guide post or our third yr in a row xmas break there. we had two rooms booked , the xmas waiting staff worked bloody hard doing to xmas sittings over boxing day and xmas day. and each table more or less had there own waiter/s, the dinners where fantastic and delicious, and as we as staying there we also had breakfasts there, there full english is to die for mmm. everything was worth the monies we payed for. the only downside to the guide post is that there is only has one disabled access room and could do with at least two????,and one disabled parking bay, and esp over xmas period there are at least to our experience upto 6 disabled people on xmas dinner bookings.
We visited over over Christmas and stayed for our Xmas lunch. Hotel was typical of similar types but above average in terms of the staff being very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were spacious although bathroom a little small. Everything was clean and tidy and clearly well managed. No real complaints but would say that having no housekeeping during our 2 day stay probably should have been mentioned on booking. Otherwise a very nice stay and good experience. Happy new year to the hard working staff!
Its not often I'd leave a review, especially of this nature, but I feel a duty to other potential customers. - very rushed (family meal, with children who, let's face it, can never be rushed!) - poor quality of food (supposedly fresh, but looked like the kind of thing Jamie Oliver campaigns against. - tiny amounts of food (if you consider we paid around £20 per head, youd expect a decent plate full, not the childs portion we recieved. - service was poor (I wasnt sure to put this as it didn't seem like the young lady's fault, especially when you can hear the way the manageress was talking to them. Anyone would be miserable if you'd just been ordered around like that!) So many things could be said, and I'm sure many excuses will come out, but at the end of the day, we were here for a christmas meal that we had been looking forward to for a while. We'd paid a price we thought beforehand was fair. To be honest I couldn't be paid to eat here again. So dont bother with any free meals as compensation, because, for lack of a better phrase, I'd rather sh*t in my hands and clap than have another meal here.
Due to my wife and I both working over the Christmas Period (in a care home and for a utilities company) we booked in to have our celebration earlier and to have Christmas Lunch together (7 adults and 4 children) at the Guide Post. We arrived and we were asked to wait in the bar, we bought a round of drinks and we were promptly shown to our table in the restaurant. There were no other children in the restaurant and very little ambience or atmosphere. My eldest daughter (aged 21) compiled the following feedback, “ Felt rushed and like an afterthought, staff had no customer service skills and didn't know left from right. Whole room was being cleared and put away when midway through main course. Meat had clearly been sat for a while and veg was bland and gravy watery. Pudding was nice and cracker crown actually fit my head” My youngest Daughter (aged 19) said “The lady who looked like the manager... you could hear her shouting at the younger girls and I saw her glare at us a few times. We weren't welcomed and didn't feel very comfortable and we were rushed”. ”We were not proactively offered cranberry or mint sauces, for our Lamb and Turkey main courses, which should be standard. As soon as pudding was brought out they started on tea and coffee” We all felt that the main course was very disappointing, your description above states “ All our ingredients are fresh from major local suppliers...”. My Beef was definitely not freshly carved and appeared “processed” based on its texture and even thickness of the two small slices. Although the desserts were good. These appeared to be factory made. My son (27) said “ Felt like I was eating a school dinner for my main” and “ THEY ONLY GAVE ME 1 SINGULAR PIG IN A BLANKET!!” My Wife said “Hot drinks came with the pudding so by the time I drank my tea it was cold. No atmosphere , the soup starter was beautiful as was the pudding but the main was a massive let down, still felt hungry! Not welcoming at all, just pointed at to where we should go” Overall, for £190, we give a 3 out of 5 starter, 1 out of 5 main course and 4 out of 5 desserts. I expected a good service, but apart from one lady, we felt like the food was just served at us and then we were left, no proactive offers for sauces, gravy, drinks etc and no checks to see if everything was ok and that we had all that wee needed. Sorry Guide Post, but overall, we had a very poor experience. The Mcgolsox family
To say there was a party on, Christmas, once the music ended so did the noise. Breakfast was good but finished at 09.30am which was a push for many of the guests especially as the staff started to clear up from 09.20am so choices were limited and you felt rushed. Bed was very comfortable. Room service was fast and the food delicious.
Came here for a friends wedding, was the worst stay i have ever encountered in my life! It was more like staying at a zoo, there were people parked in the car park pouring drinks out of their car boot, they had climes out of their hotel window and was smoking funny smelling cigs on the balcony, running up and down the halls screaming and shouting, kicking on doors at 3am it was an absolute joke. The staff didn't help at all, i eventually gave in and went to reception around 4am to find nobody was on the desk. I would strongly avoid staying here unless you're a drug taking barn animal.
Disgraceful! Stayed here for a family wedding and things was good until gone 2am when other guest were shouting, screaming and carrying on, banging on doors. Staff were unwilling to help. The room could have been better, sheets looked like they had not been changed since previous guest and when I asked for them to be changed the attitude of the staff completely changed. Wouldn't stop here again if you paid me!
This had the be one of the worst experiences of my life in a hotel! A birthday party was taking place whilst I was staying and the part seemed to be from out of town from Liverpool. They were outside the main entrance of the hotel smoking drugs and drinking champagne straight from the bottle. I went to the toilets and walked in on women snorting cocaine from the the toilet roll holder with the door wide open. They were rowdy doors banging all night long shouting and arguing in corridors in and out of each other's rooms doing drugs and drinking. No staff to complain to and manager a moody Margaret and not approachable at all!!! I would never stay again I'd rather sleep on the streets. Avoid at all costs!!!
Excellent stay at this hotel, we were looked after from the minute we walked in until the minute we left. The staff were really friendly, the food excellent and the hotel spotless. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
We had our wedding and reception here, I can't praise the hotel enough, from the moment we enquired about the venue Sue was amazing, everyth8was perfect. Rebecca and Jack were amazing on the day of our wedding and lyndsey on the run upto our wedding, also would like to mention the lady who works in the restaurant was lovely (sorry I don't know her name) they all made our wedding day perfect
After eventually grabbing the attention of the receptionist ( sat in front of me ) i took my room . The first thing that was noticed was 3 clean fresh pillows and one really creased one , obviously previously slept on by the previous occupant . On inspection of the bed linen it had hairs in it on one side indicating my fears that indeed it had previously been slept in . I eventually grabbed the attention of the ignorant receptionist and he duly agreed that the bed had indeed been slept in and he also noted that a piece of toilet paper had been put in the spy hole in the door on the inside. I was moved to another room ( much smaller) I wrote a review on the Best western email that followed to rate my stay . Was duly contacted by email to apologise and offered me basically nothing as what they were offering was negligible .I decided to stay in a premier inn up the road as it would be more of a guarantee for it to be clean .
Great cosy warm refurbished hotel close to the M62 and very accessible. The staff are lovely, the bar is good and open all night, breakfast is superb, the rooms comfortable and modern and the bathrooms likewise. It's a short walk from the brand new leisure centre and pool and a cheap ride by taxi to town. I cannot fault it.
There were over 101 guests at my friend's birthday celebration last Saturday 16th November. From the youngest (2 years of age) to the oldest (92 years of age - with me in between somewhere, towards the older end!), we had a ball. Not a thing was wanting. The DJ (I'll try to put a photo on here, so bear with me) was soooo lovely. He listened to us, he heard what we asked and he then played some songs not from the play list. The songs he played were brilliant, just the right selection. He's a credit to this hotel. The bar staff worked their butts off – just two of them as far as I can recall. Never a frown between them. Hotel owners – make sure you look after this lad and lass (rota will show who was on in the Cedar Bar?? on Saturday), they are a credit to you. Only one photo taken with the two of them, but I'm sure they know who they are. They really were such brilliant, obliging workers on that night. My hat's are off to them. Many thanks for a really good night for my best friend's special birthday. xx
Excellent stay very good value for your money and food excellent and good value also hotel very clean and staff very helpfull and know the area well , will definately stay at the guide post on our next visit to the Bradford area
A nice hotel , Stayed for a week on a course for work . Hotel was nice clean tidy plenty of parking Good Food Beakfast very good Eveing Meal was ok a bit pricy for what was on offer but ok company paying , even though i thought it was over priced Eveing meals sometime very quick service others times seating waiting between courses Room very comfy
My partner and I travelled from Eastbourne to Bradford to visit my mother who lives locally to the Best Western Guide Post Hotel. It was a long and tiring trip followed by lunch with my mother and so when we arrived at the Hotel on the Sunday evening we were ready to drop. The welcome at reception was warm and we were offered the breakfast at £10.50 per person the following morning which I thought we would try. We were given our room key and told the direction to the room. We were not disappointed with anything. The staff were friendly and all very efficient. The room was clean and comfortable with every amenity. The bed was especially comfortable and we had a fantastic nights sleep. At breakfast we were met by the friendliest lady imaginable who made us feel completely at home and the chef prepared the breakfast of our dreams. I had the vegetarian and my partner the full English. There was coffee on tap and we had no problem getting refills and toast and pastries and cereal. Such was our satisfaction that as we checked out we booked again for the Sunday after Christmas when we will be seeing my mother again. Can not fault a thing and I the value of the stay I would call exceptional.
Our first visit to Bradford. Hotel room very clean and well-supplied with tea, coffee, etc. Rooms not too hot so we got a really good night's sleep. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced. A two-minute walk to bus stop (20 mins to City Centre) if you don't wish to drive. We would certainly stay here again!
We have stayed here many times and we are really happy here. The staff are all very friendly and helpfu. A good position for Leeds, Bradford and Halifax and not too long a drive to all the lovely countryside here. Must mention the fab breakfast.
Staff helpful.Room clean but a little cold as at the end of an extension. Accessible room so floor of bathroom remained wet for hours. Sink in bathroom too low for my needs. Some traffic noise in early hours of the morning and noise from guests roomed above my room.
From entering the hotel the staff all round brilliant for us the rooms very clean and able to speak to all staff they know whats going on and always willing to help. From the service we recieved was good the accomadation is in a good location no excess noise and staff brilliant.
We stayed here on the 4th to the 6th of October to attend a family wedding which was lovely. we had traveled 250 miles to stay at this hotel. When we arrived staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was lovely and big and the bed was very comfortable and very clean. We had a lovely weekend there. The meals were excellent and lots to choose from and reasonably priced. The only thing we found was breakfast was excellent but did not go much on that Pacific service that morning, but all other service excellent so Over all stay very good . Now for the last bit. We left very early in the morning and when we got to our vehicle which was parked across the hotel in their car park they rent we found it had been broken into and had around £350 worth of tools and a radio taken from it and damage to the lock, even we were parked right under cameras. I did report this and to police. The hurst company that own the carpark that rent to the hotel said they seen our van park up from the cameras on the gate but the other cameras didn't work, but said they couldn't see anything as we were by a Bush,No if they seen our van pull up and park they would see someone go into it so we presume they couldn't be bother to check CCTV over weekend, and the hotel didnt know. So I suggest you make sure that the cameras are working if you decide to go here. I have also emailed hotel back from there email and still not heard anything else. So we are not very happy. I am sorry I had to write this as i feel people need to know to make there own choice.
A great value room for overnight stay. Friendly and efficient staff. Nice room with large bed and decent facilities. Tea making and biscuits a nice welcome touch. Thanks Walls a bit thin so earplugs may be beneficial but can't fault for price we paid and wanted an early start so just what we needed. Thanks
A tired small hotel on the outskirts of Bradford. Perfectly suitable for a quick stop over. Staff pleasant. Room was spotless and bed comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate. Downsides - being an older hotel has timber floors in some corridors and walls are quite thin so if you are a light sleeper bring your ear plugs and you will be fine! My room smelt as if it was above a fish and chip shop... I understood when i looked out the window to find a lovely view of the kitchen vents so that explained it...
Went to see only fools and horses ,was a fab night well worth the visit ,great entertainment ,lovely venue and also included a 3 course meal . The food was excellent, nice and hot with friendly waiting staff Last came here at Christmas Will definitely return .keep up the good work best Western
Very clean and great customer service. Was a little further from my desired location but well worth it. Very friendly staff, good food and very clean Hotel room. My only issue would be the car park which seemed very small, but then I realised that they had a overflow across the road which resolved the issue.
Stayed here last night for the Only fools and horses dining experience. Had lunch in the restaurant and was looked after by Jordan, friendly and great service. Food ok too. Evening meal not too impressed but we were mainly there for the entertainment. Again looked after by Jordan and Liam. Room comfortable and clean. Breakfast cooked to order but sadly not impressed with that either. Check in and check out quick and friendly. Overall bargain stay and would stay again. All staff friendly and nothing was too much for them.
We arrived on a Sunday for a two night stay . Our room was on the first floor and was clean and comfortable. Check in was easy . Unfortunately for us the hotel restaurant did not open on Sunday evening so we had to venture out to eat. Not what we had expected after our long drive from the south of England but I suppose they had thier reasons. I enquired at the desk for the nearest place to get a meal and we were directed to somewhere nearby called Chapel House . After eating out we came back to the hotel for a couple of drinks in the bar. Having had a good nights sleep we enjoyed a breakfast in comfortable surroundings. The breakfast choices were varied and plentiful. On our second evening we ate in the restaurant , we both had sausage & mash which was excellant adn lots of it . Drinks again in the bar after retiring for a good nights sleep. We have stayed at this hotel before and I can honestley say it is very good value.
Fantastic hotel, all the staff went above and behond to make us feel welcome, the room was emaculate, the bed was the most comfortable iv ever slept in, in a hotel. I will definatly be staying here again
Stayed in much better and stayed in much worse. The Good: Very nice breakfast and comfy bed with clean bathroom. The Bad: Industrial estate and I had a room with no aircon and 32C (ok that happens rarely in UK) but the problem was the room overlooked a flat roof which could be easily accessed from either the car park or other rooms also overlooking. So no windows open to get air in as this is Bradford and I didn't fancy waking up to a burglar in the room...Lastly the reception staff were more concerned with me not having a Best Western loyalty card than ensuring my room didn't over look the roof...
Absolutely fabulous from start to finish the staff were so professional the food was lovely. A big thank you to Sue for all her advice for the big day and a big thank you to all the staff who made it a very special day.
Excellent staff and service. I stayed 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend, so was a bit pricey. The room and facilities were clean. The baby cot was a bit dated, but all other bedroom furniture were of good standard.
Stayed here for one night while visiting family in the local area. Room was lovely. Very bright, airy and clean. Staff friendly too. Only downfall for me was there was a wedding at the hotel. The bar area was packed and we were told we couldn't use the restaurant either. Wedding party went in til very late too!! We had no plans to use either but we were also paying guests and we were not told this this at time if booking. Would stay here again as long as no loud function was booked which takes over the whole place and facilities that we should of had the right to use
Stopped 2 nights at the Guide Post. Room was clean as was the Hotel itself. We parked in hotel car park which had limited spaces. We had full English breakfast on both mornings which was hot tasty and freshly cooked. Staff were helpful and friendly although the hotel was actually very quiet with only a few other guests. Restaurant closed on a Sunday evening which was a little strange but we were directed to a pub just up the road which served us well. We had a meal in the restaurant on the second evening which again was very quiet but food and service was excellent. Overall an enjoyable stay and would happily stop again if we were in the area.
My wife and I stayed here whilst attending a gig in nearby Halifax. We found everything to our liking from the friendly staff to the clean room and comfortable bed. Everything you would expect of a stay in a hotel and would recommend as a place to stay.
Very pleasant receptionist, excellent breakfast service and good barmaid service. Only problem we had was with the booking company - Booking.com and Paypal, don't get involved with a promotion organised by them.
Wall view from the window. Breakfast wasn't fresh. No table service to order your breakfast, you had to order at the desk. Its in the middle of industrial estate. Only place to sit outside is in the carpark. Check in takes 10 minutes.
Visited for lunch. Had eaten here twice before but it was a while ago and as the food was good when I saw an offer on Groupon I thought I'd treat my husband. (saved £2.50 each on two courses) The lady who served us was friendly and asked us to take seat in bar area whilst we looked at menu. There are only four options for starters, soup, Yorkshire pudding, Liver Parfait or Melon and four choices for main, Topside of Beef, Poached Salmon, Lambs Liver or Vegetable Pasta. We asked if there was any chance we could change main course to fish and chips and the lady did ask for us but said that there was no flexibility as they didn't get all the money from Groupon ?? Not sure what that had to do with it but we were okay with that as it was us who were asking for something different. She took our order and then showed us through to the restaurant where there was only one other table occupied by two ladies. I went for the liver pate with Melba toast and onion chutney which was nice and hubby went for Homemade Yorkshire pudding which he said didn't have the texture or taste of Yorkshire puddings made from scratch and were more like the frozen type. I had to agree with him when I got one on my main choice of Topside of beef. The beef was not pink but was fine as were the frozen peas but the carrots and new potatoes were hard. My husband's who went for liver found it very overcooked and ate little of it and his mash was lumpy and his carrots hard. At no time when we were eating did anyone ask if everything was okay so we had done when the lady came to clear our plates. We had eaten so little she asked us if we had been outfaced but we told her our concerns as would prefer to say it there and then rather than just putting it on Trip Adviser. She did say that a lot of people said to her that they didn't want their liver bloody which is fine as neither does my hubby but neither does he want it like shoe leather. She took plates away but didn't come back to us. We went to pay for our drinks and then she said that she had told Chef what we'd said and he said that he always served the veg that way! Don't see how that makes it right as although I understand that some people like crunchy carrots and we can eat them I don't know anyone who likes hard, undercooked potatoes or lumpy mash! I suggested that they asked how people liked their liver cooking but to be honest after the chef's response doubt that will ever happen! Total waste of money, will not return and do not recommend! The one star is for a clean, pleasant environment and friendly waitress.
Stayed for business. Lovely hotel with really friendly staff. Food was excellent with good choice. Room was spotless and spacious. Wi Fi worked and had no issues setting this up. Only down side was the limited parking at the front of the hotel.
Clean & tidy throughout. Room was exceptional and comfortable and food was perfect very friendly staff who couldn't help more. Would stay again no problem. Highly rated in my opinion and would recommend to friends and family Thank you
I visited the Guidepost hotel restaurant for lunch with a friend, we opted for the two course lunch menu, with this you can have a starter or sweet with a main. We chose soup of the day and a main of topside of beef. The homemade vegetable soup was lovely tasting and hot, just the way i like it.The beef was simply delicious, could have done with a little more veg, but i like a filling meal, but i was very happy with the meal and service.Only one niggle was the price of the drinks at £4.80 for a beer or lager, that was a bit eye wateringly dear to me, please note Guide post, maybe the place would be fuller with reasonable prices on drinks.
Hotel was amazing. Everything we wanted and more for our wedding.Food was fantastic and perfectly plated on hot plates. Rooms was beautiful dressed. Sue and staff was great making sure our day ran smoothly. Would recommend to everyone. Thank you so much from Jodie and Dom
Love this hotel. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Our second visit this year and they instantly recognised us and ensured our every need was taken care of. Hotel was as always very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is well worth the money , freshly cooked to order full English breakfast as well as cereals, fruit, toast, yoghurts and pastries available. Unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juice. Very good price. Highly recommend
Sue was fantastic, she handled our wedding perfectly. Could not have asked for anything better. Her staff was amazing, making sure everything was ok. Nothing was a problem, always happy to help. Thank you for making our day so special
Had to stay in Bradford for one night due to business. This hotel was close to my client and had good reviews. The outside did not under first impressions look a good choice, the car park quite small. But I was wrong, the hotel was pleasantly good. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. The rooms were excellent, clean and worth staying in. Had a evening meal which was excellent with good presentation and quantity. The only thing which let me down was the hot water for the tea, hot? it was luke warm. This for me needs to be improved. Overall a very good stay and would be willing to stay again.
Room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast choice was not great, cooked breakfast was about it. Staff were friendly. There was a wedding, we could not hear any noise from our room. No smoking area so guests gathered in the entrance way for all of the day making entry to the hotel difficult as they were drunk and loud and swearing even though I had a young child with me. Staff did nothing to move them all day. Would not stay on a weekend.
All the staff were very aware of how to deliver excellent customer service, everyone was very friendly and engaging from start to finish. I throughly enjoyed the evening dining service and the food was delicious - I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Stayed here on our way home on our coach tour and what a joy it was, dinner was 1 of the best we had during the whole trip and breakfast was also first class, lovely bar most enjoyable night, and as it was our last night on tour what a way to end our holiday
I booked a suit and I was very impressed with the room, I loved the walk in wardrobe. I wouldn't say it was the best place to stay but it had everything it needed and the room was clean. We did have a problem with one of the beds which meant one night was a little uncomfortable but it was resolved the next day when we advised them. Also I wasn't too impressed by the continental breakfast but the hot breakfast was very good and made up for it. Also the shared toilets at the far end really did stink when walking past them to get to reception which was a little gross. The thing that made the difference was the very friendly staff, in particular the lady who booked us in was very nice and professional.
Very plesant hotel with first rate staff. 70 of us attending a dinner and everything went very smoothly, rooms where clean and tidy. All meals where of a high standard and always served on hot plates.
Very friendly staff and clean comfortable room, even though a little chilly. The only thing to let it down was the breakfast, it was terrible!!! The bacon was tough and dry, the sausages were very poor quality and the fried egg was like rubber. And what you get for the price is no where near worth £10. 1 rasher of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, a thin piece of black pudding and a few chopped up mushrooms. I don't like tomato so didn't have the beans, but from what I saw of them they were in a thin watery sauce
So pleased that my employers put me in here for 5 days. From check in which was quick and very easy. My room on the ground floor was very good, big room, clean bathroom was a brilliant shower. Housekeeping came daily. The bar was very good, well stocked and the young barman was very professional, remembering what I was drinking, asking where I was from and what I was doing in the area. TV System was goof with many channels. The restaurant which is also the breakfast room was very nice. Large and well spaced, a large menu with daily specials. For breakfast, the continental is self service and the waitress will come and take an order for cooked items. Thank you to all at the Guide Post for a wonderful 5 days.
Well both me and mum decided to book the guidepost again for our xmas break, we booked for 4days/3nights.Well we arrived xmas eve in mid afternoon & greeted by the friendly receptionist, & went to our booked rooms one of them disabled room 4 my mum, we had a xmas eve evening meal & drink, then we had breakfast and 3.30pm sitting xmas day meal, then we also had breakfast and boxing day 3 course meal, majority of the guests we friendly and in the xmas spirit, but there was one or two unruly kids in the restaurant. And we was served mostly by the same waitress/s over our stay, and the waitress/s where friendly and hold a conversation & have a laugh with them. And after our breakfast today (thurs) we checked out.So would like to say A BIG THANK YOU to SUE Barnes?? Michelle, Vinnie,& others and the bar staff, & ti who did the breakfast sittings for the there friendly service to both me and my mum, Everybody who worked and served us you did us proud and deserve a big THANK YOU. Would like to wish you all a happy new year for 2019.
Excellent evening Came here with a few friends for our Xmas party ,I have tried other hotels in the area in previous years ,none of which came close We paid for an all inclusive deal which at 1st I though was a tad experience, but we'll worth the money Unlimited drinks all night ,service was good although we did notice they seemed to be some young inexperienced staff , Food was excellent nice and hot ,nothing elaborate but tasty and satisfying ,beef was tender ,my friends salmon was very fresh Will return again next year ,let's hope they still have the inclusive option available again
Very nice exceptional hotel, great rooms very very clean. I visited to visit friends who live in Bradford and I will definitely use this hotel again next time am down. Food very very nice, I couldn't get into the dining room because of a Christmas party but I was able to eat in my room, which was ok.
This hotel was super clean and comfortable with free Wi-Fi, and free parking. Not posh, but very comfortable with full English breakfast prepared to order. In my 15 day stay in Ireland, England, and Scotland, this was my favorite breakfast by far. We did have to walk one flight of stairs to our room. There might have been an elevator, we didn't ask. Very quiet hotel!
Came here on a works Xmas do. Paid just short of 60 pounds for a 3 course meal and all inclusive drinks. Felt it was good quality for money regarding the drinks however the food left a lot to be desired. Also as I drink vodka the house vodka, the only one on offer, tasted watered down or maybe it was just very cheap vodka that wasn't great. As a vegan I was very happen that they had a separate vegan menu as not everywhere does. I got a bruschetta for starters. It was ok but was basically a little bit of toasted bread with some pepper and a bit of oil on. My main was basically peppers filled with what looked like packet rice with a few carrots and roast potatoes on the side. My substitute for gravy was a red sauce that tasted like tomato soup. The main was very bland and I didn't eat it all and only ate what I did because I was hungry. The desert was lovely, sticky toffee pudding, but the portion was tiny. The meal was definitely not worth 35 pounds. Normally at Xmas parties I like to get up and dance but the music was literally all 80s. No up to date music was played and it was annoying as not everyone is into that era of music so they could have played a mix. The staff were friendly enough and helpful so my 2 stars go to them really as well as my pudding despite it being tiny. Our party all agreed the night was quite poor. Would not come back.
Stayed as part of a coach party for my Birthday with a couple of relatives. Arrived Sunday evening (9th December), room nice size, clean and had everything we needed. On going down for evening meal (admittedly we were 10 minutes later than the 7pm we were told and the last to arrive) . There was a long table in the middle of the room and some other tables that seated 8 each all with 'Coach Party' signs on.. There were 3 of us and the only free seats on the allocated tables were 2 on each of 2 tables. The restaurant manageress came over and told us that we were late and they were the only seats available for us even though there was quite a few small tables laid for 2 people that were not labled coach party but would easily seat us 3. On asking if we could use one of these we were told no! After standing our ground and stating we wanted to sit together she eventually but begrudgingly allowed us to sit there. Baring in mind the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings so there would be nobody else needing that table! She then told us quite sternly that if we wanted to sit together for breakfast that we were to be early!! Cheek! Couldn't believe it! At breakfast there was a different lady (A black lady) running the restaurant and when we realised that if we sat together on an allocated table there would probably be another couple who would end up being split, I went to her and explained about the previous evening and asked if we could use the same table as before. Her reply was " Of course you can, no problem" . This lady was as different as you could possibly get to the lady the evening before, nothing was too much trouble for her. I wish I had taken her name as I think she needs to be told how lovely she was and how she turned a bad experience around. Food was good except would have been nice to have more hot choice at breakfast instead of just being given a plate with 1 sausage, 1 slice bacon, beans and scrambled egg but I suppose that was what was agreed with the coach company
This hotel is very convenient to public services including a local station within walking distance Staff are very friendly and helpful at all times Breakfast service and choice excellent Room are clean and roomy
Quiet, peaceful and relaxed. Rooms are clean, comfortable and all basic amenities are provided. Staff are friendly. Rebecca at reception was particularly helpful and facilitated our adjustment request promptly and with a smile.
People need to remember the Guide Post is a good place to eat too as well as stay. Sunday lunch is absolutely gorgeous. The meat is succulent with potatoes and seasonal veg. Dont be scared to ask for more if hungry. Big homemade Yorkshire too with meat gravy. My wife had the homemade pie. Shame I didn't get a photo. The home made soup was very tasty too. Staff friendly. If you have not tried get over and give it a go. Hotel good as well and a very good price
Stayed here one night while on a coach trip and the hotel is one of the best Best Westerns I have stayed in. The room was a good size, warm and clean. The evening meal was excellent but the staff serving the bar were also serving the food which made it difficult to get a drink with our meal. Breakfast was a letdown, there was no choice, we all got sausage, scrambled eggs and beans. However there was plenty cereal, yoghurt, toast etc. The staff were all friendly and seemed to carry out several tasks at the same time. A lovely wee hotel which I would recommend.
I visited this location for a business trip. It is located less than 2 miles from Bradford city center. At 50 pounds an evening was well worth the expense. I would recommend staying at this location and spending a few extra dollars on Uber or taxi fares instead of spending twice that much for a Bradford central location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wait staff in the bar and restaurant were also very gracious. I arrived later on a Sunday afternoon and the dining area was to close at 4 PM. However they allowed me to order off the menu and eat in the bar area. The selection was very good but yet simple.
Delightfully polite and helpful staff. Good food and accommodation, absolutely no complaints. We visited RHS Harlow Carr, including Betty's Tea Room, and RSPB Fairburn Ings. Also easy access to Ilkley, Haworth and the moors, Definitely recommend The Guide Post. Hotel.
Stayed at the Guide Post many times and it is a great location for not only us when visiting family and friends, but for anyone visiting the West Yorkshire area. The rooms are comfortable, the staff very welcoming and friendly and the food is amazing. Can definitely recommend the fillet steak. We have also held functions here and the staff always go the extra mile to help your event be a success. Wouldn't go anywhere else when going down to Bradford.
This is our 2nd stay at this hotel and cannot fault it, the staff were great especially Liam and Jack in the bar and restaurant. We had a great room again and there was no noise or any disturbance during our stay.
Stayed here Friday night with our son and daughter in law, we ate well, drank well and laughed till it hurt. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and in every way helpful. The comedic performance was superbly hilarious. We will certainly visit again.
My parents took my wife and I to the faulty towers evening for our birthdays. The evening was absolutely hilarious the staff were really friendly, the food was great including the breakfast. I would highly recommend this experience and hotel. Thanks to all the staff for a great evening
On the whole this is a decent hotel; nothing stands out and nothing bad. It is recommended that due to functions you may want to book a quiet room. This we did, but could still hear the noise. This should not have been an issue seeing as we only returned to the hotel from our own function in the city centre around 12:30, but the noise continued until around 3am. I realise that hotels make their living from functions nowadays, but I believe that residents should be given a little more consideration and have a more reasonable curfew on the noise. The room was comfortable though rather to minimalist in wall decor for my liking with no pictures to break it up. the bed was comfortable, the bathroom well appointed and towels were nice, though a single bottle of shampoo/shower gel between two of us each night seemed a little lacking. Tea/coffee was well stocked and the mugs were a decent size. Breakfast was good, with a range of cereals, fruit and pastries on the buffet and and a choice of cooked breakfasts which were tasty and well presented. Tea/coffee was self service but of decent quality. There is a small car park in front of the hotel and a further car park across the road. With the hotel car park being small, it may well have been of benefit to have signs asking drivers to park carefully within the bays, as we struggled to park with a large tank of a car parked almost on the line. There is also plenty of street parking.
Dear All, What a nice place to stay, comfortable and welcoming. Friendly staff and a chef taking breakfast orders. Nice area too, decent car parking. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfy
I stayed at the Gide post hotel in Bradford for eight days. It was a Pleasant experience the staff Were kind also the cleaners. They all went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Also the breakfast in the morning was very good. So I have no Problem to recommend this hotel.
We just spent 8 days here. We were treated like part of the family. Every member of staff was polite, friendly and a credit to the hotel. The restaurant provided an adequate choice of food and was always cooked to perfection. Well done chef. Would we come again....certainly
Visited the guidepost for the first time in many years for a works get together Had a great time in the spa bar with attentive bar staff a buffet that needed a little more attention but was soon sorted. The welcome from the reception staff was as warm as ever I hope to ba back again soon
My son and I stayed here while visiting relatives. The room was okay, but the staff entrance was right outside and someone was holding a loud conversation outside our door late at night - it could only have been staff as no other rooms were past ours. Breakfast was a huge disappointment, especially for the price. I'm coeliac so need a gluten free meal or I'm ill. I explained this to the waitress when I ordered, and that my bacon couldn't be put on a plate with the sausages etc. I also asked if they had gluten free bread which she doubted by went to check. While she was gone, I noticed that there was no dedicated toaster and as I hadn't got any toaster bags with me, when she came back to tell me that they did have GF bread which was frozen I declined it. At this point she opened the kitchen door and shouted "it's okay, she doesn't want it now!" Thank you, I needed the world to know that. The breakfast when it arrived was overcooked. Bacon was hard and dry, and both of my eggs, and my sons, were solid. Wish we hadn't bothered, especially as there had been some cross contamination in the kitchen and I was ill. On a three hour car journey this wasn't good, especially as I was driving and had to stop in three service stations to use their facilities!! Staff need more training!
I find the manager sue Barnes to be quite rude & disrespectful towards her staff, she doesn't care if staying customers are present if she wants to give her staff a grilling for things not been done (whilst there in middle of looking after customers) she does it without a care of who hears it or sees it which from a managers prospective the staff should be taken to the managers office & have a quite word in private instead of trying to embarrass them in public view, doesn't make her look like a good manager it makes her look like a bully, treat your staff good then the hotel would run good. Can't fault to room I stayed in, very comfortable & clean & all the other staff are nice & polite I would definitely stay again if the general manager wasn't so abrupt & rude
Stopped for 2 days while working in the area. Check-in was efficient and I got a large suite, which was comfortable. It was very hot though, with no AC or fan. Breakfast on the first day was fine, if average. But on the second day I ordered a cooked breakfast and the chef popped out to say he had no hash-browns - disappointing, as they are the best bit! Suppose I'll have to return to sample the full breakfast works ...
Have stayed a few times now. Rooms are perfect for me as a business traveller, comfy bed, good tv, excellent wifi and hot water. (not always there in some other places) Breakfast is good. Scrambled eggs are among the best I've tasted and nice, strong coffee. It's worth joining the Best Western rewards club as the room deals are well worth it.
Hotel was used for business stay. Very good quality hotel and with good size spacious room, staff were extremely helpful, easy check-in and out, excellent breakfast and great all round service. Slept with the window open as very little noise from outside. Well recommended. Well recommended
This hotel is one of the few that dosent look tired, it is well decorated and has a quality look about it, the staff are friendly and helpful and the evening meal and especially the breakfast was excellent. I will certainly be staying here again
If you want a nights sleep then don't stay here, was more like sleeping in a nightclub than a hotel, my husbands staying here working 12 hour shifts, allocated room 25, must be above function room, banging music was ridiculous, rang reception just after 11 expecting music to finish soon to be told 1am, not good when my husband had to be up at 5am for work, I had joined him for the one night and wished I had stayed at home, husband was staying Monday to Monday when room was extended on Thursday there was no pre warning of a function with being in room above. I could have handled a noisy room till 11pm but felt 1am was far to late to put up with. Complained next morning, desk apologised and said they try not to put contractors in this room, unfortunately on this occasion they did. Went to go for breakfast at 7.20 while husband was at work. And breakfast didn't start till 8. Left without. Won't be returning.
Stayed here overnight to attend a family function nearby. Our room (#7) was clean and comfy with all the in-room facilities to make our brief stay enjoyable. The room had recently been refurbished to a good standard. We didn't eat in the hotel or use the bar so unable to comment on these features. However all the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
In the middle of our stay here for a few nights. We always stay here when in the UK visiting family. As always the staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are bright with very comfy beds and super yummy breakfasts. Rates are very reasonable compared to other hotels around of the same quality. Cheers guys for yet another very pleasant stay. ????
I stayed here whilst on business and it was ok, not bad. It's clean, quiet and the staff are polite. My room was small but comfortable and had everything I needed, quiet too which is good for a good nights sleep. Parking is a bit limited and the location isn't great, but other than that it was fine. I didn't eat or drink here so can rate the food or bar
Stayed here in on a week day. Quiet rooms and clean. The breaks the was cooked to order and the variety not bad. Good on site parking and overflow parking across the road. Helpful staff. You know what you going to get with a best western.
We used a groupon voucher allowing a 2 course Sunday lunch for two with a glass of wine. We ordered a rose wine and exchanged the other for Coca Cola as driving. The offer was a choice of starter or dessert plus main course. We opted for the main of three meat roast and just turkey for the other meal. Came with large slices of meat, huge Yorkshire pud, stuffing and gravy plus a large dish each containing 3 roast potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli. The veg was a little too hard and needed a few minutes more on the boil. We were also offered a warm bread roll and butter each. The dessert menu was good and hubby chose sticky toffee pudding and ice cream whilst I got the cherry cheesecake to bring home. Great food, lovely decor, great ambience with superb music playing, excellent service. For the price on the main menu it is good but on a groupon price it can't be faulted.
i stayed in a twin room 1 night with my daughter breakfast included. Reception team were very friendly and helpful on arrival. our room was lovely and clean. very large double bed and 1 single. Both beds were comfy i was worried it might be cold as it was January and weather wasnt nice, room was a nice temp. had tea and coffee and tv. hairdryer also. we was very happy with our room wish we had stayed 2 nights. as we stayed at another hotel previous night . The breakfast was nice help yourself to coffee and tea and juice. The hotel had no lift. when we arrived at breakfast no staff their to greet you or ask where we sit. we sat and waited for a staff member to come take our order was a few mins think he was on his own. but communication would help if he said morning with a smile be with you in a few mins . This was a sunday morning get him to smile and say morning enjoy your breakfast. I would stay again.
THis is a basic property in an industrial area, not a destination to stay in unless doing business in the immediate area. Comfortable , if tired rooms, with good attention to cleanliness. Polite and well meaning staff that are certainly in their set ways and not familiar with stepping outside of the "norm" if posed a question they haven't had before. Really good parking options and very comfortable and spacious restaurant. the food is good however short service times and not being an "all day" diner is certainly an issue as the location is isolated from any other services. would I stay here again ? Yes, if it was for a sleep only arriving late and leaving early, I may have breakfast again but would look elsewhere if needing to meet others or do any business on site.
Generally poor customer service followed by the worst steak and chips I've ever had. The restaurant waitress and the chef were obviously keen to finish their shift. £21 for this ? I didn't leave a tip ??
Had our Golden Wedding Party here on Saturday 27/01/2018. The evening was an enormous success enhanced by lovely bar staff especially Megan who was exceptionally helpful and a delightful young lady who seemed to enjoy the evening as much as us! The buffet was plentiful and enjoyed by all the guests - our complements to the chef and team in the kitchen! 11 of us stayed over and had breakfast together. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and what a great shower in the spotless bathroom! The Breakfast menu was varied - cooked to perfection and very tasty! Thank you to all the staff who were exemplary throughout - Japinder for the planning, reception for their cheerfulness and everyone else involved in making our Golden Wedding so successful. If all the Best Western Hotels are as good as The Guide Post, we look forward to our next breakaway at one of them!! Anne & Keith Denison
On Sunday 21st January we booked a golden wedding party for 11 people. It was ivy and snowing. No attempt to clear the car park, it was treacherous to walk up to the entrance. No meet and greet . No one asked to show us where to put coats of tell us when to go into restaurant. We had to ask for everything. The three course meal took over three hours to complete and coffee we had to ask for, no mints as advertised. In fact, the girl had to come back with coffee Which seemed to have been forgotten. There seemed to be a shortage of staff with two people having to do everything. Needless to say, I don,t think we will be returning.
Went to a private party held in the Poppy suite. Decent size, comfortably accommodated the 40 guests. Allowed the host to bring external caterers...suite has a dance floor and bar too...great time, had hired their own DJ....staff were great...special mention to the barman Mathew who was very helpful indeed
I recently stayed here for a couple of nights on a business trip. First impressions were good, although the hotel carpark is tiny and unless you're there early you'll end up parking on the road. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was good too. However, the hotel does need some work. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the furniture is very cheap with recognisable units from the budget end of Ikea and possibly the most flimsy wardrobe I've ever seen. I didn't use the TV as my laptop screen was bigger and better quality. On the plus side, the hotel WiFi worked well. Overall, it was ok for a couple of nights, but for the price, I'd choose a Premier Inn over Guide Post every time.
I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks during a training course. It's one of the better ones in the area, although Bradford is not somewhere I'd ordinarily choose to visit. It was easy to get to and located at the end of the motorway. ACCOMMODATION • The Reception staff were great, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble • My room on the first floor was adequate and had at some stage been “refurbished”. The room of a colleague of mine staying on a higher floor was quite poor and he was eventually moved on request. The rooms were clean. • The bathroom looked dated but the shower was wonderful and very strong • An iron and ironing board were in the room • Free Wi-fi was available and there was a lift • Unfortunately, I barely slept for two of the weeks I was there due to the other guests shouting in the corridors and generally being noisy in their rooms as well as outside. The room doors are quite heavy and continually bang. My colleagues had the same problem and it was an issue for all of us as we were revising for exams as well as trying to sleep. Some consideration needs to be given to better sound proofing FACILITIES • I chose this hotel because it had a swimming pool which I was intending to use but didn't in the end • The hotel is very popular for wedding receptions and there were several very colourful weddings during my stay that brought extra guests to the hotel so it was very busy, particularly on Thursdays • The bar was popular and I had food there on a few occasions. Most of it was fine • There was a snack vending machine TIPS • There are two supermarkets within walking distance of the hotel in either direction and both have cafes. There is also a fast food restaurant • A garage is also nearby selling snacks as well as fuel • Beware of the standard of driving in Bradford, it's scary! CONCLUSION If I had to go back to Bradford again, I'd prefer to stay at this hotel as it was better than the alternative in the area
24 of my family booked in for a meal at The Guide Post restaurant last night and I can say that wthout exception, every one of us had a fabulous evening. Taking out the equation our own enjoyment of spending time together, the service was friendly and welcoming and the food was tasty, freshly cooked and, most surprisingly these days, was served to us by silver service rather than paying tureens of food out for everyone to help themsleves. The whole evening we were left to relax but staff were always there to serve and clear. Well done to the front of house and kitchen staff. You made our party a most enjoyable one and we are aleady planning our 2018 family party at yours!
Stayed here 2 nights, both times were spot on, good clean hotel, friendly staff nice food and bar open late , nothing too much trouble. Rooms are lush nice comfy . Not far from city centre but just outside so parking not a problem
Nice and easy check in and check out. Small room but for one night it's fine. Clean and tidy room with good internet connection, bar was a bit expensive but you expect that in hotels. I would stay here again
I spent a couple of nights at the Guide Post and found the staff friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable with a good wifi service. The breakfast was fine - croissants available and the usual cooked breakfast which was perfectly OK. There is also a good evening meal menu with a range of meals on offer - including starters, mains and desserts. The meals are generally good - though the chicken in the chicken curry was rather overcooked and tough. Parking is easy - there is a big area opposite the hotel if it is full near the entrance.
Food consistently good quality and cooked perfectly whenever I have visited here. Very quiet in the restaurant which was surprising but apparently busy from next week with Christmas bookings. Seems very inexpensive for the quality of food and service.
Just got back from a coach trip after a stay in your hotel on Saturday 18th November. We was told breakfast was from 8am. When we arrived for breakfast at 8:30, there was only leftovers which were Luke warm, no scrambled egg left, bacon was like shoe leather & by the time we waited for our toast, our Luke warm breakfast was now cold. The breakfast waitress did say it might not be very warm, but didn't offer to replace with fresh hot food.
We spent 2 nights in October 2017, attending my Niece's 21st birthday celebration, which was also held in the hotel. The rooms were neat and meticulously clean, comfortable and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The biggest selling point of this hotel however was the fantastic staff, from the house keeping staff, to the catering staff and those at reception. Nothing and I really mean nothing, was too much trouble for them and they were all so very friendly. Its the staff of a hotel that can really make or break a stay and the staff at this one really made our stay so enjoyable. The party celebrations were conducted with the same excellent care and attention. The food at the party was wonderful and the breakfast second to none. Well done to all the staff at this hotel and many thanks for making our stay so lovely.
This is a quiet and comfortable hotel with comfortable beds, good wifi, and caring staff. I ate here every evening, and had a cooked breakfast every morning. The breakfast offer was extensive and freshly cooked to order. I was more than happy with what I was served. The evening menu gave you a choice of starters, mains and deserts. For me, two courses was more than enough. I particularly liked the fact that a carafe of cold tap water was available for you if you wanted. A different "chef's special" menu was available each night. I felt rested each morning ready for the day ahead.
Had s 2 night stay for a family party. The staff could not have been more helpful. They changed our rooms to ground floor ones to assist my mother . I would recommend phoning the hotel first to get the ground floor rooms if you need them. Web had a meal in the restaurant. The food was excellent.Breakfast was good quality Would recommend this hotel
We used a Groupon voucher for a two course Sunday lunch plus wine for two people. Excellent value. We were greeted warmly and exchanged our wine for soft drinks. Then offered the menu and chose two courses (starter and main or main and dessert). We ordered the three meat for hubby and just asked for turkey in mine. No problem. A warm bread roll was delivered to our table. The meals came about ten minutes later and were huge. A dish of veg each (carrots, cabbage, broccoli) and roast potatoes accompanied the meat and large Yorkshire pudding. Too much for us and a lot was left. We chose eton mess as dessert and this was large too. Served in a tumbler glass with chewy meringue, strawberries, vanilla cream and raspberry sauce. Delicious but smaller portions needed! Excellent service and beautiful decor/environment. Highly recommended.
We stayed at the Guide post on the evening prior to Dads funeral, the staff are first class, helpful and attentive, the breakfast is one of the best ever, freshly cooked and piping hot. Bedrooms are spacious and modern, if there is a drawback it's that they don't serve food on a Sunday evening but we went along to the Chapel House along the road which was fine.
As we were part of a Coach trip we were impressed how quick the check-in was.Very pleasantly surprised by the great room we were given, very clean and tidy. Had a good night's sleep after enjoying an excellent meal in the restaurant. Breakfast also good. Thanks very much to the staff involved on Sunday night 17/09/2017.
Currently staying in room 25. Music from the disco is so loud I can hear it through ear plugs! Told I'll have to put up with this until at least 1am. Not sure that would make a great advertising slogan... Stay at your own risk.
An average reasonably clean and reasonably modern hotel but somewhat over priced for what u get. Stayed for 11 nights at 65 pounds per night at short notice. Can't help feeling that it was slightly overpriced. The staff very friendly, helpful and personable which was refreshing. A member of staff got me an extra quilt as the quilts are like paper and the north is freezing ! A bit weird that they lock the doors from about 1am and u have to ring the bell and wait in the rain as it was most nights until the night manager comes raving from hoovering or setting up to come and open the doors. Very annoying. Breakfast cooked to order which was a plus for my hubby . Overall a reasonable stay but the best western plus cedar court hotel just 5 mins away with better parking and closer to m606 can usually be booked in advance for a similar price or cheaper.
Overnight stay after a family party. Rooms were clean but basic, the breakfast was a big disappointment. Unlikely to recommend as plenty more hotels in Bradford. The staff were pleasant enough but the overall stay was just ok
Strange location as on an industrial area. No noise was heard from it though. Good size rooms, comfy bed. Cleanliness could be improved in some areas of the rooms. The food however is wonderful. Breakfast is great but did take a while to make it to the table. Staff were really friendly and welcoming.
There are several positives to report: clean, spacious room; plenty of tea and coffee supplies in the room; comfortable bed; spotlessly clean bathroom; secure parking just across the road; friendly, helpful staff and the hotel is very well situated for access to the motorway network. All this for a very competitive price, at least as regards the room rate. My only grumble is that breakfast is charged at £10 per person, whether you have the full cooked breakfast or just cereal and toast, so it pushes up the cost somewhat. Nevertheless, the hotel compares favourably with other popular chains such as Premier Inn.
I have stayed in this hotel for the last 2 years and not once have I been disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean, warm and comfortable. The bar and restaurant areas are modern and have a good selection as well as daily specials. Highly recommended.
I have stayed at the Guide Post on many occasions on business and until this visit I would of given them 5 stars as couldn't fault it. I arrived at the hotel after a long day at work to be informed that there was a wedding in the main function room which was fine with me as they put me in a comfy room away from the party. I had to take my evening meal down in the spa bar which was also fine with me, no faults whatsoever with the meal it was excellent as always. As I was sat waiting for my meal the manager came down and starting telling the waiting staff off about jobs they hadn't done in a raised voice which I thought was very inappropriate considering there were guests present. When I had finished my meal the waitress asked me to come back upstairs to pay my bill as we walked past the managers office she barked at the waitress demanding to know what she was doing now, the waitress proceeded to tell her that she was just dealing with me and as I looked over to the manager she gave a sarcastic smile. Once back up to the main bar I was waiting for the waitress to process my payment and a more mature member of staff came up to me quite abruptly and said "can I help you" and I said "I'm just waiting to pay" and she said again abruptly "oh right" and walked off. My evening was then interrupted at approx 9.20pm by very loud shouting and arguing that had spilled out from the wedding near my bedroom window, this carried on for some time and in the end I had to go down and complain to reception and all I got was a 'sorry about that'. After this visit I don't think I will be staying at the guide post again, which is a real shame because on the whole most of the staff are friendly and welcoming.
Great welcome, extra helpful check in. Room was really comfy and nice with a deep deep bath, cute curtain backed glass doors wardrobe, plenty of coffee and a really comfy bed! Bar prices are high, no doubt with 2 pints costing £9.30. There is a great pub restaurant across the road which gives a great alternative choice. Very convenient for motorways and nearby towns. Has a Tesco express next door but two in case you need any supplies but the hotel also provides for most things too!
I've said in previous reviews you get what you pay for. This hotel is very cheap for an overnight stay and in my opinion it looks and feels cheap. There is a sign in the car park telling you that cars get broken into regular. The hotel is right opposite an industrial estate and my room faced this estate, it's a busy noisy road. When I arrived the girl on reception was eating her dinner in reception, I felt bad stopping her eating to check in!!! In fairness to the girl she was very polite as were all of the staff. My room was dated and very basic, the shower was very weak and not fit for purpose. Breakfast was made to order but you have to make your own toast and fetch your own brew A lot of these things wouldn't bother a lot of people but having stayed in a lot of hotels this year on business you pick up on things that make a difference. The best thing about this hotel was the friendliness of the staff. I wouldn't stay here again.
Stayed here on a Saturday night for a family wedding. Everything was very well organised. 3 course meal was very good, minor mishap when the girl serving the prawn cocktail proceeded to spill it over the wife's new dress, poor lass was horrified. Moved downstairs to the function room for the evening do, all in all a really good time. Rooms are finished to a good standard obviously been recently refurbed. Noise. Yes there was some but all the function rooms were busy so Id expect that, did not spoil my sleep though. Breakfast next day was also good although being a bit 'delicate' I didn't do it justice. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lots of free parking.
I had read about the likely noise from the disco but nothing in my life had prepared me for the way the walls, floor and ceiling of my room would bounce in time to Mr DJ's big base sound. Bless him. Last dance was at 0115 and then he switched off, leaving just the various private parties that were going on in the rooms all around us. All quietened down by 0630 at which time I was able to sleep. The room was standard quality as was the breakfast.
The hotel is tucked away in an industrial area but very good place to stay, I will be back it was quiet and comfortable. The full English breakfast was great. This hotel also helped me when storing some cheese is was travel with. Thank you staff. check in and check out was easy.
Lovely quiet room, clean and well presented with great shower! Breakfast cooked to order (yes full english) and an extremely varied alternative/healthier selection to choose from. The staff were very polite, helpful and willing to oblige no question! Overall this hotel is an absolutely honest establishment (bargain price also) and I'd highly recommend for the business traveller or those that need a comfortable base with good access.
We stayed here for a weekend in June, great place to stay, lovely staff, especially Kirsty who cleaned our room, she is a credit to the company. The food is on the expensive side, but the room was value for money.
In fairness I would like to review this establishment in 3 parts.... Room, Meal and Party. We had booked 1 double room and 1 double as a sole occupancy both immaculately clean and well furnished though for some reason my mothers room was cold and damp (No 39) yet ours was perfect. for that I would award 4 stars. Meal -We each ordered a meal -Burger, Curry (gluten free) and a Chilli again excellent; 4 stars. Party- it was my husbands 50th Party - 2 stars. Paid £250 for the resident DJ who sat in the corner all evening; no introductions as to whose party it was, no getting him to the Buffet before the guests and nothing mentioned about the cake (believe it or not there was candles to ignite). Michelle who was in charge of the event was seen for all of 90 seconds.Bar staff inexperienced, not fully prepared for the evening ahead and ponderously slow. One guest had to remind one of them he was still awaiting his change and it took 10 minutes in total for him to receive it. I know because I was stood next to him and waited 15 minutes to be served. Drinks very expensive. The event was Spa bar on 10th June 2017 and I will not be having any other events at this venue nor promoting it to others.
Our next door neighbours of 20+ years invited us to join their celebration party at this hotel. We were in our own room with a bar, and it was ideal for the group of 20. We were shown the ordinary Sunday lunch menu, which had ample choice to suit all appetites. I chose the smoked haddock fishcake, the three meat roast and the Eton Mess. My wife had Yorkshire pudding to start, gammon and the same desert. Coffee and mints followed. We will be returning for a Sunday lunch in the future. The only down side was parking on the road. The staff and service were great too, they were smiley, efficient and attentive.
Fabulous overnight stay in this hotel. The wedding organisation was great the staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly recommend it for weddings upto 60/80 people the food was excellent.
lovely hotel the wedding room was stunning looked beautiful The staff were very good with getting the guests seated The wedding reception food first class and the waitresses and waiters were spot on they worked so fast and hard to serve the food well done to all of them our room was very spacious and very comfortable Overall to all the guide post staff well done
where do I begin?... It appears that there were minimal staff working this bank holiday. The bathroom had black hairs in the bath ... Yuk ! Obviously not cleaned. The leisure facilities times were shortened. The jaccuzi had a timer on the bubbles at 10 minute intervals. We had coaches taking up the car parking spaces outside the front of the hotel, as well as a National Coach around the back running his engine at 7am Sunday morning, but as the window was broken and unable to shut the noise out. Fire alarm went off at 8am. woken again at 7am Monday by a laundry/ linen lorry. Other points room 211 noisy plumbing pipes, 1 cup in room, 2 tiny milk cartons, when requested more at the reception the reply was that the had run out! Fabric feature wall was full of dust, extractor fan didn't extract. No information in the room about the hotel, had to pump the w.c to make it flush. very out dated room. Expected better for £169. I would say that the receptionist was pleasant and helpful as she advised us to ask for some at the bar. she went to find some herself as the bar tender had disappeared!
We attended Rachael and Mike's wedding two days ago and apart from having a fantastic day we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. The food at the reception was lovely and tasty served by friendly and polite staff who all looked as if they were enjoying the day as much as we were. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed.. The food served at the evening reception was again first class as was the breakfast which we both thoroughly enjoyed, a real credit to all involved.
Quiet, clean, value for money and nice staff. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed anywhere in the world. The water pressure in the shower wasn't fantastic but that is the same most places in the UK. FYI: There is a Tesco on the corner of Huddersfield Road and Netherlands Ave (two minute walk from the Guidepost - thought I'd mention it because we only knew it was there when the taxi drove us past it on the way to the airport!)
Having stayed here on a few occasions with business I can happily say it's one of the nicest hotels available. The staff are really friendly, which is great as staying away inyour own can get a bit boring at meal times!. The food is fantastic, always clear my plate! There is ample parking either directly in front or a locked car park across the road, and WiFi available. Rooms are a decent size and come with lovely complimentary biscuits n bath soaps!
Room was very well presented, light and fresh and a good size. Restaurant was good witha decent menu and specials every night too. Breakfast was cooked fresh or continental style was available too. Lovely hotel and would recomend this to stay at.
Stayed at the hotel two nights ago. When booking, requested a room that was away from noise and traffic as my wife is a light sleeper. We were allocated a room at the end on the ground floor as it was according to reception, the furthest point away from the function planned that night. What the hotel did not cater for was that function guests were given rooms next to ours! This resulted in consistent loud opening and closing of doors and guests talking in the corridors from 12:00am until 4:00am. Sound proofing appeared to be non existent between our door and the corridor. To cap it all, the TV was not working in the morning and the WiFi was atrocious maximizing at only 6.0 Mbps 6 o'clock in the morning. Hasten to add, we will not be staying at this hotel ever again.
Booked one room for one night without any meals as I found the price of breakfast a little too high (£10) apart from this the room was adequate with all the usual tea/coffee/tv etc. The hotel was very clean and at the time of visit, very quiet which was ideal as weddings and parties are held here. Our bed was very firm in room 2 not sure if all beds are the same.
Silly cheap £56 for a nights B&B, room is old-school but clean, only downside is no where near any restaurants or pubs and the hotel bar is pricey and have eaten at hotel on previous visits was ok at best. Wi-fi was free and worked great, breakfast was ok, staff were friendly would recommend on value alone,
Stayed here one night while on a coach trip. Had a great evening meal staff very friendly especially Cora Sellars, a young lady who seems to do so much. Room was comfy and clean and spacious. Breakfast was ok and tasty. All in all a good hotel.
Breakfast on the sat was great, not so good on the Sunday though!! Less bacon from one day to next!!. Struggled most time to get somebody to serve us at the bar!! Very noisey in room below us but all in all not a bad stay
We stayed at this poor excuse for a hotel and paid for a full nights sleep but due to the howling sound coming from the windows we got no sleep neither did any of our family members in three other rooms when we asked for a refun due to not getting what we paid for we only received money back for two rooms the general manager Sue Barnes was not interested in even seeing me when I complained. The view from our rooms consisted of a brick wall. We had a meal in the restaurant for 13 people on a Saturday evening and there were only three other people dining the whole night. The menu was very limited, the service was very slow the person running the bar was the same one checking so the wait time was ridiculous. In general whole place was run down under staffed and a poor imitation of its former self. I think I had better stop here as I could go on all night.
We was in need of somewhere close to my daughters house as visiting so decided to stop over as got a good deal through the best western winter deal website. Paid £56.00 for 1 Saturday night for 2 in a large double including full English breakfast which was very nice. The room was large with tea/coffee making facilities included and a very comfortable bed. The staff all seemed friendly and helpful with a welcoming reception area. The bar area also looked nice but already made arrangements to go out nearby so not used.
We have stayed before and had many gatherings here and all has been good, this time wasn't to bad the room was clean and comfy we did feel the staff weren't as friendly though... My hubby ordered room service and paid for 3 portions of chips that came in one bowl .. we are not greedy but there was just over a handful and the cost was £7.50... we did mention this and the staff member said they are tight here !!!!! We were also woken up about 6.30am by people having a full blown conversation outside our doors - No other rooms were down this corridor so we presumed this was staff members...
We stayed here for a couple of nights recently for a wedding . We didn't opt for breakfast and had room only . The room (no 34) was a decent size and clean . We found it warm enough once we'd turned the heater up , staff are friendly too . The only downside is the lack of sleep we got due to the poorly sound proofed rooms ! We were kept up late by people in the neighbouring room laughing and their tv ! Then woken early in the morning by others in the corridor outside . The wedding itself was ok but meal very average and no better than most wetherspoons ! And we were horrified at the amount the wedding couple had paid for such a very plain meal you could have got anywhere else for about 12 quid ! Not the most exciting place to stay and probably wouldn't recommend to anyone else . Sorry !
I arrived in the early evening. Reception was professional. My room was a good size. The bathroom was excellent (clean, bright and modern) Coffee and tea facilities with biscuits. Good selection of channels on the TV The weather was cold and snowy/rain When I arrived the room was pleasantly warm. At 10pm the heating went off. I rang reception to be told that it was on a timer and was off 10 - 5. By 11pm the room was freezing cold. There was no inroom thermostat. I put towels from the bathroom on op of the bed to get some more heat. When quizzed the next morning the guy at reception just smiled and said there was nothing he could do. The next night was even colder. I left my shirt on in bed! By the way I don't recommend breakfast. Not good value at 9 pounds. There's an excellent cafe just up the road.
I had a meeting in Bradford and needed a hotel where i could get a late check out as my wife would remain until i returned. Originally I was quoted a cost for the late check whereas when I did check out (two hours late) the charge was not applied. Thanks. On the rooms, we were first given room 7 but this was next to the storage room and noisy so were moved to number 19 where the bed was smaller (but comfortable) and the room quieter. Very clean room and bathroom was well decorated. Heating could have done with being switched on before 1800 bit otherwise ok. Reception was pleasant checking in and out. Breakfast was basic but as needed. Overall a good room for the price.
Really enjoyed our stay excellent room spotless.Staff extremely professional and polite.A party of us visited everyone commented on him much they had enjoyed their stay.We also had a group meal that everyone enjoyed good food in a nice relaxing atmosphere.
Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst attending a course for work. There were about 18 of us in total, so quite a large group to cater for in one go. They managed very well though, highly organised and we all received our meals at the same time and all hot! We have stayed in several hotels (of 4 and 5 star quality) around the country as a group and this was by far the best. I have several allergies and having mentioned it on the first evening they prepared a 3 course menu for me to choose from for each meal. All of which were superb and prepared with care and attention to ensure I had a meal to the standard of everyone else's and at the same time. The rooms had everything you'd need and were very clean. The bed was comfy. If I had a complaint it's just that you could hear the people in the rooms either side. Thank you for a great experience!
We had our wedding here on Saturday and the staff were lovely and very well organised that our day went without any problems. Sue is brilliant and kept things running throughout the morning And Laura who continued the day was very professional and again couldn't fault anything. We stayed in suite room 44 and it was beautiful. Abit of a walk but the room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and cooked fresh. Would definitely recommend for any couple who are looking for a venue. Superb service. 5* from us.
Went with a friend for lunch and was not disappointed 2 courses for 10.95 the portions were ample sized and delicious i had the pate then chicken and chorizo pie which was so good and piping hot, my friend also had the pate then salmon which she said wad also lovely.. followed by coffee the service was excellent. It had recently been decorated and looks really good. It is definitely worth a visit I would recommend to all my friends.
I attended a wedding here and I have to say this is a very nice place ! Very clean and modern plenty car parking also we got a good rate for the room we stayed in and the room (no42) was fantastic very spacious and comfortable ! We booked breakfast which was very nice with a lot choice to eat ! Only complaint was the bar which ran out of draught lagers very early on ! Surely when you have a large wedding party on in the afternoon through to midnight this should be a simple task to make sure you have plenty barrels ! Also £3.60 a pint was a little expensive! So apart from that a very enjoyable night!
Staff in the eating and bar are superb - they honestly couldn't do more and look happy are really helpful - some rooms are below expectation, others great - location is challenged - but the attitude of the staff and hence the service is great.
Stayed four nights from Friday 7/10/16. Check in (and subsequent check out ) a doddle. Very efficient, friendly reception. Room, number 40, small with a view of a brick wall 2 metres away from the window. Heating good and easily adjusted for comfort. Bathroom small but adequate. Unfortunately, baths side is quite high so anyone short, elderly or disabled will struggle to get in and out of the bath/shower and there is no handrail for assistance. Hotel very busy with weddings which meant we were unable to use the bar. Had to stand at side door and wait like schoolchildren to be served and sit in reception area to drink. This was not mentioned at check in. Breakfast was fairly good with hot food, fruit, cereals, and continental options available. Orders for hot food taken and served by friendly efficient waiting staff.
Located very close to my work place. Clean. Plenty of room. The hotel appears to be busy with "working" people. Car parking outside was only a problem on one occasion. Food was nice, disappointing that condiments come in "tear off" sachets. Check in and check out very easy.
The small group organising the event sought a venue for this prestigious occasion. Several places were visited but the Guide Post offered the best best facilities for the budget. An excellent room rate was given for the guests. The event was booked a year in advance and to the event day the hotel gave excellent service with the planning of the buffet and table arrangements. Sue the General Manager was a joy to work with. On the day and evening of the event on 24th September 2016 Laura gave us our full attention in helping us set up the tables, balloons, banners and all the other essential bits. Due to Laura's diligence the evening event went off in splendid fashion. The buffet was superb. Chief guests the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress were very impressed. In fact everyone there was. Well done and thank you staff at Guide Post.
I have been there for 1 night for business reasons. Everything it has been fine, only the heating was not working properly ... Boiling apart, it is to be recommended because of its staff kindness and the food quality
Attended a friends wedding it was good enough fir the night down stairs plenty of room but a bit pricey for the beer but the occasion was one to remember so hats off to the hotel staff for a fantastic night
The hotel was brilliant nothing too much trouble, rooms very clean, food very good, basic breakfast but plenty of it. It was a one night stay with coach trip. Having stayed before 5 years ago it was as good as before.
My family and I went to this place for a wedding when we got there the party was down stairs in the basement there is no disable access to down stairs and when I complained that my mother in law was disabled one member of staff said if she can't get down you will have to go home the stairs are steep so we had to carry her down one old lady fell down the stairs and had to be rushed to hospital it's not a good hotel and the staff are rude I would not recommend this hotel to anyone
We stopped here for 1 night as it is close to Bradford for the Alhambra. Very modern inside clean and giving an old apperance outside. Rooms very nice and the bar and reception areas very nice. The breakfast was cooked as ordered which means the food was hot and a good selection of buffet cold food on offer. The only down side were the off duty staff. We were in the upstairs bar when all you could hear were the loud converstations of the staff and swearing and private staff matters which the paying public shouldn't have to hear and i think at least one of them had had too much to drink. It's a shame that this was heard as apart drom this the stay was excellent.
Stayed here for a couple of nights on the 9th Aug. The hotel is basic and in need of a little tlc. The carpark is quite small holding about 15 cars. There is plenty of street parking however. The rooms themselves have a double and single bed, which were comfortable. There is a tv, iron, trouser press, tea/coffee making facilities, bath with shower. Check in and out went swiftly. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. We had a couple of meals in the bar and the homemade burger with chips was the nicest I've had in a good few years. The public areas were clean and tidy. The public toilets were spotless and had a lovely fresh fragrance. However the hand drier didn't work in the gents. The hotel provided all we needen and would stay again .
Stayed here for my brothers wedding booked in for bed n breakfast. Went down for breakfast had to wait about half an hour. My daughter in law went to get some toast while we were waiting only to pick up a mouldy piece of bread I had a glass if orange and noticed a big crack down side of glass Mushrooms were more or less raw ! Won't be going back there anytime soon
Excellent Hotel very clean and staff were wonderful. We ate there for dinner, and breakfast everything was very good. Would definitely recommend this hotel. We took a chance with making this booking as we were on our way to a wedding in Shipley, and it was on route to our destination the next morning. No trouble finding it.
Quite a strange location on a main road near an industrial estate. A few parking spaces at the front and then on street parking. Independently owned and run business. Large spacious reception where we were directed to the bar. We were seated near the window (only 2 other ladies in). Gorgeous decor with purple flowers and serviettes on each table. Extremely clean and tidy with a friendly lady server. Requested cheese and tomato sandwiches for me which was no problem. Got 3 fingers plus 3 of tuna and 3 ham salad all in delicious bread. Caramel slice, bake well slice and scone each with jam, cream and some kind of fruit purée all served in little pots on a 3 tier slate. Excellent food and service in a beautiful hotel. Super main menu as well with a loyalty card scheme where the sixth meal is free. Ignore the odd location and try it as its excellent.
The staff here make this hotel and you feel friendly. Although the hotel is out of Bradford and on a part industrial centre and part housing estate the great nights sleep you get is great as there is hardly any noise plus the double glazing takes away the remainder. I woke each day very refreshed. Breakfast good choice and the evening meal was home cooked food which was worth the wait. This hotel has 13 ground floor rooms which is worth knowing as this hotel has no lift. There is also a ramp to the front door if you cannot manage steps. I recommend this hotel for anyone visiting this area with great links to the M62 (5mins) and the same from the centre of Bradford.
We went with some friends for dinner and it was a delight to find the restaurant was air conditioned! Food was fine but very average and the ice creams two of us had were tasteless. The house red is probably best avoided. However our waitress was fantastic and very helpful. Would go again, especially in a heatwave but definitely overpriced for the "tea" it was.
We attended a christening today at this venue, It was perfect for the occasion, the room was a good size, with dance floor and small bar but more than adequate. the service was very good , efficient , polite and well mannered bar staff kept on top of the job all day . The best part about this event was it was my nephews babys christening and they have been very careful with there overheads so did the catering themselves and did a fantastic job of it , I think it is really usefull to note that the hotel lets guests do there own catering arrangments and the room costs only £100 from 1pm till 8pm on a sunday . The venue was also very well decorated and of a really good standard with ample car parking spaces over the road as well .
Very low cost, but a good quite and comfortable hotel. Breakfast very good, bed comfy. Will use again even though there are no evening meals on Sundays. Pub 200yds away good food. Great value for money
Visited and stayed at this hotel in June 2016. Upon arrival we were able to park at the front of the hotel. If full additional parking is just over the road. Booking in was quick and efficiently carried out and we were soon in our room on the 1st floor. Accessed by stairs no lift to these 1st floor bedrooms. Room clean, tidy and kitted out with the usual hotel attire. Bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows. We attended a function in the evening in the Spa Bar and bar staff were very good. Breakfast on the following morning was excellent with a good choice of drinks, cereals and full English breakfast. Staff again excellent and efficient. Wouldn't say it's set in a lovely location as industrial units are opposite but a great base for us and the usual standard you would expect from a Best Western Hotel.
Room was okay ,but lots of noise outside from wedding party. We paid for a room for 2 people but only had toiletries and cup and tea/coffee/milk for one person. told reception and were given 1 cup and one spoon! so had to share shampoo and soap. Sounds a small complaint but annoying not to be able to make ourselves a morning coffee.
I stayed here for two nights midweek as part of a stay with work. The hotel is basic and in my opinion not to the usual class of the Best Western brand (I have stayed in a few, and even got married in one!). The hotel is basic, without lifts to the upper floor. The rooms are spacious with decent amenities, and a good sized LCD TV on the wall. It was hot during our stay and the lack of air conditioning or fans in the room made it feel very stuffy and uncomfortable. The bar is reasonably priced for a hotel, £3.60 for a pint of strongbow. The restaurant had some lovely waitresses very attentive and polite serving, very different to the impression from the bar staff. The restaurant food was standard, although none of our group of 16 rated the starters as any good, and at breakfast the sausages are a must leave alone. That being said breakfast was cooked fresh for you and there was enough choice to totally avoid the sausage and be satisfied - you have been warned! The hotel has about 5 parking spaces at the front of the hotel, with optional spaces on the road directly opposite and a bigger car park further across the road. Overall the hotel was fair, it didn't rock my world and the service was average but i slept okay and that was the purpose. Any questions feel free to inbox me.
Caring, responsive staff who made you feel welcome a standard of service rarely matched else where in the Best Western group. Food was good, room very good and it felt like the staff cared. Hotel also in a great location for onward travel
Unfortunately the resident DJ ruined our night by not listening to his brief from us about music to play. We were promised they would not use him again. This is not what we saw the other day when he ruined another couples wedding day. Awful!!!!
Before you stay at this hotel be sure to ask what, if any, events might be on the nights that you intend to stay. While the hotel and room facilities are quite reasonable, if there is an event on you have little chance of getting any sleep before at least 1am. I was called by reception over four hours before I arrived to check if I still intended to stay as they were turning away guests. It might have been nice for them to inform me at that time that there would be a wedding reception on until the early hours of the morning in the function room across the corridor from my allocated room. If they were so desperate for empty rooms they could have given me the chance to opt-out of a sleepless night and inflict it on some other unsuspecting victim. I would have shifted my stay to the Day's Inn a couple of miles away. This is the second Best Western hotel I've stayed in. It will be the last unless I have no other option.
From the outside the building could do with a touch up here and there and parking can be awkward buy your not sleeping outside. Booked at short notice (very very very short) and yet on arrival staff had all the paperwork out ready and sorted which made check in easy and I was soon in my spacious room. Comfortable and clean and what you would expect from a Best Western. Food was OK but staff seemed to be doing 101 different roles but when serving where delightful.
Don't be put off by the exterior, this is a modern well run hotel that has pleasant well decorated and furnished rooms and a good range of facilities. Very pleasant stay and would definitely use again.
No problem of a place. Not too easy to find but sat nav did the job. Thought it would be noisy there was a wedding there but my room was 2 fire doors in and the sound did not get through At All - I was pleasantly surprised. Good night sleep. Good breakfast
My wife and I chose to return to Bronte Country, after a 3 day visit in the early New Year. We stayed at another Hotel then, but chose the Guide Post this time. A quirky Hotel, and as usually expected from a Best Western. The bed was very comfortable; we'd like to return, but will make sure we book in at an earlier time, to aim for the upgrade!! It was out of our hands for us arriving late. We won't do so again.
Greeted by 2 lovely women on the desk got into room and noticed they'd put us in the wrong room went back to reception and was sorted within seconds. Room was nice and modern. Very nice hotel had a function here and function was good also would come again if needed :)
Beautiful hotel. Well maintained.beautifully and professionally decorated. Everything to high standards. Friendly staff. On request complimentary razors, shampoos, shower gels, sewing kits. Would definitely return.
Lovely hotel, centrally located & very clean & comfortable. Pleasant reception received from all staff & superb breakfast served in the room at a small service charge. Fairly centrally located & with off road parking. Free wifi available
Greeted at reception with a smile and a polite young lady, better still our room was ready early for a surprising early check in (just the ticket after a 3 hour drive ). The room was spotless with good décor and a tray full of tea/coffee etc.All staff that we came into contact with were pleasant and courteous, we took advantage of room service for snacks and breakfast in bed..not only was it spot on time but piping hot, plentiful and well presented...well worth the £4 service surcharge. We had a lovely Easter Weekend in a very pleasant hotel in Bradford. Will definitely book again.
Room which we stayed in was very comfortable, tea and coffee faculties in the room .... Had a very nice cooked English breakfast.. The staff made us welcome and they were very friendly definitely stay here again
Had a lovely stay A pleasant clean hotel kept warm , it was cold and wet when we stayed the rooms were large with great facilities nice staff . We are planing to stay again later in 2016 we will use as a base for our visits to Bradford as its located away from the centre but easy enough to enter the centre if needed .
Decent hotel for an overnight stay. Clean room and communal areas. Bathroom modern and clean. Good service from reception staff (we didn't try the restaurant) (The hotel is dog friendly - £10 per night) I would recommend and will re-visit when in Bradford.
Our family went for a 60th celebration so a number of us stayed over night. Rooms were clean and tidy and much more comfortable than we expected. Staff were all friendly and helpful. There was a good choice for breakfast: fruit, cheese, cereal, toast, pastries and a cooked breakfast. All in all a good stay.
Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful, hotel was clean and tidy. The location was ideal for our purpose. Would recommend Best Westerns for anyone looking for a quality hotel at affordable prices, they take some interesting properties and refurb to a high standard. Worth the effort to find one.
I booked this hotel as it was within minutes walk from the office that I was attending for training. The hotel is located within the middle of an industrial estate which is perfect for the business traveler as it is noisy during the day when you are out but very quiet a night when you return. The hotel appearance itself is okay if a bit dated, but inside it is clean an pleasant and almost a family feel as you check-in. Check-in itself was swift and pain free although they could have mentioned that the restaurant closes at 9pm so be careful to those business travelers arriving late. Note this closing time also extends to room service so you could be left a little hungry if you leave it too late. The rooms were quite spacious and acceptably decorated but the double beds were not particularly comfortable and far too short. If you are over 6ft your feet will dangle over the ends. The food in the bar areas were just ok if a little bit overpriced for what you get but perfectly acceptable if you don't want to venture out. On the 2nd night of my stay I did venture out to Akbar's Indian restaurant, which is about a mile away from the hotel and had probably the best curry I have ever eaten. Well worth a short cab ride. The breakfast in the morning was excellent with cooked food done freshly to order. In addition there is unlimited coffee, tea, juices, pastries and cereals available on buffet style but unless you are on a diet go for the cooked!!!! Very satisfied with my stay and will stay again on future business trips to the area.
Stayed here on business recently and really can't complain for £56/night. Couldn't get parked in the full cosy car park so parked on the road just outside and was looking forward to a deep sleep after a red eye start / heavy day . Or so I thought. I have been a memory foam convert for a good few years though so I wasn't quite prepared for the most metallic springy mattress I have ever tried to sleep on. Room was bit dated but clean and adequate. Had evening meal in the restaurant (mind your step), took the chicken fajitas, neither great nor unpleasant but the food prices did seem a tad ambitious. Waitress was really pleasant and professional. I had 2x mini boxes of special K (in one bowl!) and a cup of tea for breakfast the next day. £9 flat fee. Steep. Company were paying though. Phew.
Check in was quick and painless. Had to ask to add breakfast onto the booking (£9). Had a double room that included a small double and a single bed. Room was spacious with a desk, tea/coffee facilities, large flat wall mounted TV and an ironing board/iron. Bathroom was nicely decorated with bath and shower over. When I entered the room it was very warm and had to turn the radiator off and open the windows. There is no air conditioning. Hotel seemed very quiet when I stayed (no parties etc.), although it was mid-week. Bar area is pleasant, although prices seem very steep (£5 for a pint of Guinness out of a can!). Restaurant is nice enough if a little lacking in character. Menu had a good selection and food was ok. Bar service and restaurant service was generally good, although bar staff were new and had trouble with booking drinks to the room using the till. There is some parking on the front of the hotel (about 9 spaces plus handicap spaces) and the remaining parking is across the road from the hotel. Breakfast consisted of the usual choice of cereals, fruit and pastries plus a menu of cooked items including full English, kippers etc... Tea and coffee was available from 'urns' (didn't have either so don't know what they were like). WIFI is free inside the hotel and seemed ok for speed.
nice small hotel, bit of a strange location but a nice quiet hotel with plenty of parking. rooms are okay and staff are nice. its Bradford so don't expect to much. traffic in this area is dreadful so takes an age to get anywhere.
This was our 2nd attempt to make a reservation having been told to cancel our booking at the Chevin End Guest House in Ilkley as we had 2 dogs. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for 2 adults and 2 dogs and then phoned up the following day to confirm everything was fine which it was. The hotel as a whole was very clean, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were all very helpful and friendly, varied choice for breakfast which was very enjoyable and the evening meal was also of a high standard. All the staff were very accommodating towards the dogs, Irish Setters, and put no restrictions on them at all. Only slight criticism was the lack of parking available but it would certainly not deter us from staying again so would definitely recommend this hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff who are particularly attentive in reception. If you book breakfast tell them when you arrive/book as it is cheaper for a cooked breakfast that way(£9:00p). Breakfast was plentiful and served promptly - I had scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Tea was fine for me but weak. Coffee for husband fine. We also had dinner as it was reasonably priced but the issue was the waiting time. It took an hour and a quarter for us to be served with and eat starter (taco chips with salsa -not very arduous) and the main meal. We are not slow eaters! For this reason we did not take a dessert. The food was hot and plentiful but the neighbouring table of 5 had to wait ages for all people to be served, so I imagine that the first 3 had lukewarm meals until food for the other 2 arrived. I felt this was a shame as the waitress was very helpful and was clearly doing her best, the restaurant was beautifully set out with a waiting area in the adjacent bar. Finally there were a range of books in the restaurant which were very interesting because they were so old (I found a 1936 map of the area in London in which I live!), largely encyclopaedias and reference books, but some novels by Alistair Maclean too. - It certainly wiles away the time if you are not in a hurry!
I went in a party of 7 for breakfast on New Years Eve. The service was slow, the white bread was moldy (it was replaced), some of the continental breakfast items were a bit 'tired', the cooked breakfast was good and there was plenty of tea and (weak) coffee. It was a bit disappointing and we won't be returning anytime soon. The place itself is bright and airy, and clean. The staff weren't very attentive at all unfortunately.
both me and my disabled 74yo mother wanted to o something different for xmas, and oh boy was worth every penny, staff friendly and not in your face asking if everything's ok whilst you having your meal, rooms deff ok except the ones facing the industrial park hahha, we had xmas dinner and was worth every penny and all local produce.
Stayed here for 4 nights for a family party that we had in the lower function room. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the bedrooms are very pleasant and the breakfast superb. Didnt use the restaurant in the evenings as prefer the curry houses and local eateries. (Family lived in Bradford before we all moved to Spain). The only down side is the price of drinks at the bar, rather expensive. Taking all into consideration a great place to stay.
Fine room. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good food....but, as stated by another reviewer, check before you book about parties downstairs or you will be up till 1 am with the noise. Our radiator shook with the vibrations. Shame as everything else was ok. Check out the Royal. Great pub food near by.
Had to be moved first nights due to our room being next to the function room and the music being very very loud finally moved to a freezing cold room where there is no heat in between the hours of 11amand 5 PM unable to use the bar or restaurants due to there being a private function and creaky floorboards in room and mattresses seen better days you could feel the springs in your back and the bed was Lopsided In serious need of a re-Ferb Will not be staying there ever again
There were a dozen of us for a pre booked private function. Also in thè same room was another larger group. There was a pleasant atmosphere and the room was nicely decorated for the Christmas period. In an adjacent larger room was another large function in progress so I imagine the kitchen staff must have been really busy. However, the young waiting staff did a good job.We had three courses consisting of various starters and then the vegetables for the main course were served from platters. Everything was nice and hot and nicely cooked. We had a nice selection of sweets followed by coffee and a mini mince pie. Of course there were complaints about various issues such as the service was slow for some and some didn't like the way some things were cooked but you can't please everyone all of the time. All in all it was a good meal and the young waiters coped very well.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of a coach party. The hotel was really nice and the staff couldn't be more helpful, the room was fine and the bathroom was really first class. When we first saw the dining room we were surprised to see the tables were set with Christmas crackers and party favours and we thought that wont be for the coach party but we were wrong the staff had gone that extra mile to make us welcome , not like some hotels that treat coach parties as second class clients. The food was good with a good choice and even turkey and Christmas pudding,a really nice touch All in all a nice hotel good food and a special mention to the young serving staff who couldn't be better and to whom nothing was too much trouble Ian and Lil
Just returned from staying at this hotel hotel was clean , meals were good but unless you want to party and have a disco and join in with the languish you are subjected to hearing in your room till 1 30 am avoid these rooms.
I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed the experience at this lovely hotel. The hotel staff were all really good and always dealt with customers to a high standard. I had a double room which was clean, spacious and very comfortable. A good nights sleep was had. I had an evening meal in the restaurant/bar and thoroughly enjoyed the Cajun Chicken. Again the staff worked hard and the service was great. I will stay again if I'm up in the area. Great value...
Stayed here October 2015. Paid just under £60 for 1 night for 2 people (breakfast not included). On check in we found the room very basic, very small, with a small and uncomfortable bed with a mattress which was extremely thin. We asked to move rooms. On 2 occasions we were told that we couldn't move rooms because the hotel was fully booked out. We offered to pay an upgrade for a better room but were told that there were no other rooms available in the hotel. After being in the room around one hour we started to smell a strange odour coming from the bathroom drains - a cross between sewage and vomit. We complained and this was investigated over a period of around an hour. We were happy to receive a refund and go else where but we were relocated to another room (in an already fully booked hotel...?!) Where they found this room is beyond me, as we had already asked 3 times to be moved and were told it wasn't possible - either several hotel staff were lying or we were put in another guests room - leaving them to endure the smell... Our room location was much better, a nice sizable bed and much better décor (by passing the dirty toilet that was left to greet us) Our night wasn't great as we were situated around a busy area with guests talking and banging doors until the early hours but this is something the hotel cannot really control. We checked out early the next morning. I did complain to the hotel directly but we had a standard response from the manager saying they were sorry and that the staff weren't lying - but we still never got an explanation to how a room can magically appear... As we have close family living in the area staying in a nearby hotel is a common occurrence for us and we now know for next time to stick with a Premier Inn rather than a unsatisfactory, dated and lying(?) hotel.
Stayed at a couple of Best Westerns recently, and this one did feel more solid. On arrival though, walked down a cold corridor past the dining room, down to a room which had a tiny single bed, a desk and not too much else. If anyone had tried to make it feel less like a cell then they had failed! It was warm though, and the bed was comfy – not too soft. The staff are friendly but some of the services frustrate. I didn't try eating there in the evening, but cooked food in the morning seemed like a big challenge – even though the dining room was near empty, it took 10-15 minutes to have two poached eggs on toast (one morning after 15 minutes I had to give up waiting and head to work). The biggest frustration for me was that, as with the other Best Westerns, the offer of free wifi was a false one – it was free, but on all 3 devices it was one bar at most, and lost connection every minute or so. Perhaps not a big deal, but staying there for work and not being able to connect to anything is really a big inconvenience. I will stay here again, but hopefully they can sort out some better wifi coverage of their rooms, and I'll be sure to try to get a better room than whatever I had this time.
Stayed for one night for a wedding taking place at the hotel. Rooms were lovely and comfortable although a little bit too hot (it was mild for October). Staff were very good and attentive. Food was excellent. The Poppy room for the service was lovely and very well set out and was ideal for the size of the party. Bar was a little small but there was extra seating in the foyer/reception area. Would definitely recommend!
we did not stay overnight , just had dinner in one of the spacious function rooms. Staff were attentive , sadly some of the food was poor . Choice from a set menu , £24. The pate was tasteless and bland , three folk sent it back as unacceptable , sadly nothing else was offered neither was there an apology or bill reduction .we had requested a bread roll with the pate , this caused quite a stir as a bread roll apparently is not served with the 2 quarter slices of toast ! The beef was very tender, salmon nicely cooked ;well cooked vegetables served by staff .Lemon tart was drizzled with a sweet mango coulis ? why ?Custard was requested for the sticky toffee pudding , one cheese and biscuits sent back due to mould on the red cheese . Could not describe it as good value for money . No thank you , never again .
The hotel is clean and comfortable. It is situated in a strange position near an industrial estate. However just 500 yards away is a lovely village with a good pub. The Hotel is comfortable and clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. We had an evening meal one night which was o.k. The menu didn't change whilst we were there. However its good value for money.
lovely clean friendly hotel where nothing was too much trouble. informative staff. excellent value for money. Really good night sleep and excellent breakfast which was cheaper when booked at same time as room. Would stay again and highly recommend :)
Having worked a 10 hour shift that finished at 7pm then home to change, a bite to eat and then what turned out to be a torturous 2.5 hour car journey along the M6 and M62 to this hotel. We arrived at little after 10pm. All we wanted was a to have a drink in the bar and retire to our room to get a peaceful nights sleep before leaving in the morning refreshed before attending a Christening locally. Tired and weary we entered the hotel. No cheery welcome, just a young lady who really didn't want to be there on a Saturday night and was really hoping her shift would finish very soon. Had the hotel had their way peace and quiet would not have been on the cards until after 12.30am when the Engagement Party in the function room was due to end. The receptionist did apologise in advance that there may well be some disturbance. OK we can live with a dull bass thud but they attempted to put us in a room that was less than 15 feet away from the open function room with a very loud disco. As we got to the room door, after running the curtain of cigarette smoke, there was no way this was going to be acceptable. We returned through the curtain of cigarette smoke to reception and made our feelings known that that room was unacceptable. With a huff and a puff she vigorously clicked the computer and finally came up with a room. The room was spacious with a flat screen TV, 2 single beds pushed together to form a super king size bed all covered with set of bedding. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and very well maintained. Most importantly it was acceptably quiet. We popped back downstairs for a drink in the bar. Served quickly but drink prices are high. £6.60 for a John Smiths and a pint of Draught Pepsi. Whilst we drank a new bar person arrived. He attempted to pull a pint of Fosters but the barrel had run dry but rather than go and change the barrel admitted to a guest that he didn't know how to do it and would need to get the duty manager to change it. For a purported higher class of hotel employing people to work a bar without basic skills of serving and cellar procedures is unacceptable. it would have taken less than 2 minutes to do instead of the 8 it took due to the bar person having to phone to get someone to do it. We retired to our room for peaceful nights sleep and awoke refreshed and after having a refreshingly hot shower departed for our day of celebration.
I stayed here on business for a few nights and had a very comfortable casual enjoyable stay. Convenient for Bradford, good rooms, nicely kept and good breakfast but some of the corridors were a little overheated. There a few parking spaces in hotel grounds else there's a free car park across the road. A short walk takes you to Harold Park which is lovely in the mornings.
Stayed here for two nights. Travelled here from Gateshead for business in Bradford on Tuesday. Went to watch football on Tuesday evening in Preston then stay at this hotel again before driving to Immingham on Wednesday. Managed to do all this from the hotel's location. Indicates the great links it has. Staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was good. Not the best selection if you don't want a cooked breakfast and not great value either if this is the case. Room was lovely. Bed very comfortable.
Had our wedding reception at the hotel the staff were all brilliant the day and evening buffet's were both excellent and the room we were given for staying over night was really nice the manager sue was really helpful and stayed until the small hours of the morning to make sure everything ran smoothly. I have to apologise for one of my guests who gave her a hard time for a really trivial matter and was offered a more than necessary resolution to his complaint but still moaning about it. My opinion is he's a professional moaner. But my wife and I were more Than happy thank you. So were most of our guests we've had a lot of people on social media saying they had a great day
The room was nice, spacious, bathroom was clean and airy. No lift in the hotel so taking suitcases up quite a lot of stairs was a bit of a pain. Staff were friendly and one member of staff helped take our suitcase up.
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. The fact I returned indicates I was happy with my previous stay. This time, I found it spot on. I was travelling for business, so after a long day, appreciate a speedy check in. This is exactly what I got. Not only that but I was expected, my name recognised by the receptionist who was clearly on the ball - all very efficient and friendly. I had a large, comfortable, well furnished room. Good TV, dressing table and separate desk - and a lovely bed. The bed was a good size and SO comfortable - and (this is where many hotels fall down) - the pillows were also excellent. Huge bathroom (which was spotless), with really good shower. This really was a very comfortable stay. Good free Wi-Fi reception in the room and throughout the hotel too. Meals are served in the bar or restaurant (same menu - choice of setting). More than ample choice of meals, at a competitive price. Meal was quickly served and was really tasty. The staff were really working hard - and again very friendly. Young waiter (Matt?) seemed to do everything from greeting customers, serving at the bar, taking orders, serving meals - doing all this and to a high standard. Breakfast served in the restaurant was really a very good standard. Choice of continental fare...and then a cooked breakfast menu. The full English breakfast was excellently cooked and piping hot. Very tasty indeed. The hotel is conveniently located for M62, M606 and Bradford. small car park immediately in front of hotel - and a huge car park immediately opposite. If you want a countryside hotel with wonderful views you don't stay here. If you want excellent value, convenient location, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly welcoming staff, then you should stay here.
