Hotel Svanen, BW Signature Collection

Room: There is no ventilation or air conditioning. When it is hot outside, it is impossible to sleep at night. The bathroom door is made of glass and has gaps all around it, so all the smells from the toilet go straight into the room. There is no proper shower as such. You have to climb into a jacuzzi bathtub, which is already quite worn. The glass shower screen is so difficult to move that only a strong adult can manage it – children have no chance. The faucet is broken: water comes out of both the shower head and the bathtub spout at the same time. The water from the shower head is lukewarm, while hot water runs into the bathtub. As for toiletries, the most basic item – shower gel – is missing. Instead, they provide things you do not really need, such as bath salts. The children slept on a pull-out sofa. There was only a very thin mattress pad, seemingly intended to protect the sofa rather than provide any sleeping comfort. The children had very difficult nights sleeping on such a hard surface. The rooms are not cleaned unless you specifically request it. We would return in the evening and forget to request cleaning, so for three days nobody cleaned our room or even asked whether we needed any housekeeping services. Food: Breakfast was very good. The children especially enjoyed making their own waffles, although in my opinion, at a 4-star hotel, guests should be served rather than expected to do everything themselves. The dinner buffet was very limited. There were not even basic options such as a simple salad or potatoes. You can eat there if you are too tired to go anywhere else, but it is very expensive for what you get.

We stayed at Hotel Svanen in Billund expecting a proper 4-star experience, especially given the price and the hotel's marketing. Unfortunately, it fell far short in several key areas. The room temperature was unbearable at 31°C. There is no air conditioning (only a fan), so both the kids and I were sweating constantly and barely slept. It made the stay miserable, especially with young children. The bathroom was particularly unhygienic. We found what looked like silverfish/worms crawling around, dirty surfaces on the and visible mold on the silicone around the floor and shower area. This is not what you expect from a 4-star hotel. Overall cleanliness was lacking. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this hotel, especially for families. Location is convenient for Legoland, but the room quality and comfort do not match the rating or price.

We booked a suite. Good- big bed, choice of pillows, jacuzzi, quiet, spacey room in good condition, ample parking, close to Billund airport, close to Legoland. . Bad- safe not working, no air con and electric fan broken, cleaning not standard and needs to be requested, no water in the room, kettle but no tea or coffee with it, single sink, no obvious ventilation in bathroom. Plus of special note, the breakfast was awful- solid scrambled eggs, nearly raw boiled eggs, plastic cheese, no fruit or salad, no fish. The worst hotel breakfast we've had in years.

Hotel has everything you need for a day or two. It has the old roadside motel feel but updated. Walking distance to the Legoland and other attractions. Helpful and friendly reception staff.

Due to our early flight we arrived early but the receptionist allowed us to check in early. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and just what we needed for a short stay. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety for everyone's needs. The only downside was the towels in the room - they were tiny! Bath sheets would have been better.

We stayed here for two nights in October, as a family of three, when visiting LEGOLAND and LEGO House. The hotel is within walking distance of both attractions and the bus stop from Vijle, it's about a 20 minute walk. We arrived mid morning to drop our bags off and were delighted to find our room was already available. A lovely airy room with great en-suite, double bed and double sofa bed for our son. All spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Pleasant staff and a very warm welcome. The reception and bar area was lovely and the breakfast service provided everything you need to set you up for a full day of Lego fun. The complimentary evening drink was also a really nice touch. Highly recommended if visiting Lego or the area. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

We booked a Superior Plus Room with Gourmet Restaurant Stay for one night. Information before stay: Before arrival, we missed a little more information about the gourmet stay itself. There was no information about whether a table had already been reserved, when the restaurant might be open, etc. Information level before arrival, incl. during booking, 3 out of 5 stars. Check-in: The check-in itself went as expected, it was easy and relatively fast, especially because we had paid in advance. Here we were also given the opportunity to book a specific time for the meal. Note that it is a bit unclear on the drawing at the reception where you actually had to go into the "towers", but we still manage to find the entrance. The room, part 1: The room's decor was okay for the price, although it showed signs of wear and there were stains on the wall and curtains. The bathroom had a bathtub/Jacuzzi which was very old and worn (which is probably hard to avoid with changing guests and varied use) But I notice an incredible inexpediency in the way it is arranged, as you have to stand in the bathtub to turn on the water to fill it. One glass plate cannot be moved, which is why you either have to engage in a balancing act that would make Circus Soleil jealous or get wet toes when you turn on the water. And I think most people, like us, would like to turn on the water a while before use, when you are still wearing clothes, as it takes some time before such a bathtub is filled above the nozzles. At the same time, it is a source of astonishment that in a room of a certain price range, a glass door to the bathroom is inserted that does not close tightly. That is, you have no, as in, no privacy in the bathroom... Dinner/Restaurant: The gourmet dinner was eaten in the restaurant, which had a cozy atmosphere. The service level was acceptable, but never quite up and down. One waiter was incredibly service-minded, but also ran around a lot. Whereas the other took things a little more relaxed and was a little less service-minded. Whether we hit the visit on an unlucky evening with lots of guests and limited waiters is not known, but there was quite a wait just to get bubbles before dinner and later the drinks. The dinner was really good all the way through, although it seemed almost like a waste of food at the end with the large creme brûléé. Because you were very full. But all in all, 4 out of 5 stars for the food and 3 out of 5 for service in the restaurant. The room, part 2: If we then return to the room, we must honestly admit that for the price given for this room, cardboard walls are not acceptable. During the afternoon, evening and unfortunately also night, we were able to find out that the young couple next door had a very stormy relationship. Because there were both sounds of intimacy, but also shouting, screaming and slamming doors and gates in the middle of the night. So we practically did not close an eye at night. And yes, the hotel is located by an airport, but we could ignore that part. But that there is so much noise between the rooms, it should not be possible. So the room gets 2 out of 5 stars for the price. Breakfast: So after a restless night we headed for breakfast, which we found after a bit of searching. Because there were no signs or staff in some places. Neither in the restaurant nor at the counter. I had actually been looking forward to it based on reviews online, but I have to admit that it was a very ordinary selection. It was well stocked, so no complaints there. But it had a bit of a vibe that it was a different decor than usual, maybe because of the number of guests or other reasons. The atmosphere was non-existent and you got a bit of a feeling of being relegated to a back room rather than a real bright and friendly breakfast restaurant. So breakfast gets 3 out of 5 stars, as it was well stocked, but very uneventful. Check-out: Finally, there is the check-out, which was quick. Although it was a bit funny that they didn't ask if we had any outstanding bills from the restaurant or anything else. They just expected that everything had been settled. But the receptionist was anything but responsive to my comments about the quality of the walls and lack of sleep. So service at reception 3 out of 5 stars (Check-in drags up.) All in all, not what you would expect when booking a Superior Plus room incl. Gourmet dinner, hence the low score.

We stayed at this hotel right in front of Legoland, which is extremely convenient as you can easily walk to the park. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is very generous with plenty of choice. If you stay more than one night, it's important to know that the room is not cleaned automatically for environmental reasons, so you need to request it at the reception. Prices are on the higher side, but the location and services make it a good option for visiting Legoland and Lego House (they are two different experiences in two days!).

Booked a room for 3000 DKK to fit a family of four. Basically got a normal sized room. Way too expensive. Had expected a nice room for this price. Bathroom was not clean. There were only a glass door to the bathroom. A lot of noice from the airport, and also the parking lot. Would not stay again. Billund seems to be way too expensive to stay and not give the holiday experience. Stay somewhere outside of billing if you want to go to legoland.

Poor service for the price you pay. When you ask the staff for information about the stay, they say they don't know much – just that it's near the attraction, Legoland. At breakfast, we asked if they could make some fried eggs, and they replied in a bad-tempered way. It's not expensive to give a smile to your guests.

14 rooms!!! We were told 11am as breakfast finishing The TV in the room says 10:30am but they closed at 10am. I imagine the restaurant again won't be open at noon as they are setting up for another function Rooms ok but would never return 👎🏻 If you want a place that doesn't make it up as they go along stay somewhere else

Super friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms with really comfy bed / hot powerful shower and quiet. Buffet breakfast was amazing - best I've had in a hotel breakfast. Would highly recommend to anyone. About a 20 min walk to the Lego house and centre of billund

Came here for the Lego Insiders Tour - Lego hotels were overbooked so the organisers put us here instead. Actually I was delighted - breakfast buffet was lovely, Legoland still walkable and it was clean, quiet and comfortable. Bathrooms are particularly nicely appointed with useful shelves - helpful when two women with full toiletry bags are sharing a room together! If I were to book my own Lego tour I'd come here rather than any of the themed Lego hotels which look rather tacky and are - understandably - full of very excited kids. Svanen feels calmer, I am sure it would welcome children but the vibe here is business hotel rather than Lego.

This is more a motel than hotel. We found black mold in the bathroom and the bedroom was just too hot to sleep without the fan and window on. However the breakfast buffet is great, if old enough a hack is to fill up into here before going elsewhere. Billund is very kid friendly. It has great transport links, just pack light pyjamas!

We stayed here one night associated with a LEGO trip. We flew into Billund, took the 43 bus to Billund Central and walked to the LEGO House (around 10 mins). We downloaded the app to buy the bus tickets. After the LH, we walked to the hotel. It took around 20 mins. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We were very pleased with our rooms. Comfortable and quiet. Lovely to have a sofa, small table and chair. Chrome Cast works with the TV. We had a buffet dinner (300 Kr) that evening in the hotel which was very good - a mix of hot and cold food. Breakfast (also buffet style) was very good as well. Our second day in Billund was at LEGO Land - 10 mins walk from the hotel. At the end of the day we caught the 43 bus back from LL to the airport. Note you can get Insiders points at LH but not LL not in the LEGO store at Billund airport.
