Mildiss Hotel Spa & Restaurant, BW Signature Collection

This is a fantastic, modern hotel in a lovely quiet spot, but walkable to the village and close to the ski resort, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, with a small spa for private use, treatments, bar and nice restaurant. The breakfast was a very nice buffet and dinner was fine dining but good value…..lovely food. What makes this hotel so special though is the staff; everyone was so friendly and helpful. We would definitely return for another stay.

The hotel is easy t find with ample free parking available. The staff speak good English and very polite, friendly and professional. The rooms are very spacious, clean, very comfortable and very quiet (although we chose this hotel as it had air conditioning but it wasn't working correctly in our room. The staff did try to fix it but were unsuccessful). The restaurant serves excellent food and is reasonably priced.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Mildiss Hotel in Besse, a recently built property boasting a modern and sober architectural style, thoughtfully designed with eco-friendliness in mind. Our room, while not particularly large, was exceptionally comfortable, attractively furnished, and provided everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The spotless bathroom offered convenience and quality. We particularly appreciated the charming view overlooking a tranquil field with ponies. Parking at the hotel was straightforward, adding to the overall ease of our visit. Breakfast featured delightful homemade jams, adding a lovely touch to the meal. The hotel's spa facilities complemented our relaxing stay perfectly, enhancing the overall experience. We wholeheartedly recommend the Mildiss Hotel for anyone visiting Besse, offering both comfort and thoughtful design in a serene setting.

Let me start with the positives! The room was of an acceptable size with an extremely comfortable bed, a good shower and bathroom with separate toilet. The electric blind was a good black out and opened into a lovely bucolic view with several horses wandering around. Every member of staff we encountered were terrific. The modern structure may well have been designed with the environment in mind but, unfortunately, the overhanging wood blocked the light and made the room seem dark in daylight. The WiFi quite frankly was appalling registering less than 1mbps to no more than 3. Try and put a VPN in it, there is no inbuilt security, and there is no reception at all! The restaurant and bar are closed on Sunday completely - whilst this is very inconvenient it could be ameliorated by informing guests booking over a Sunday night that this happens AND, if you do not wish to sit outside in the cold, the restaurants in the village are either closed too or booked up and reservations are essential !! We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was very acceptable from a very short menu that would not appear to change at all while we were there? Not sure why anyone would want to eat there every night looking at the same short menu and perhaps a daily special may be of benefit? The alternative was to eat in the village which seems to specialise in offal. We did not appreciate the charms of the village build manly of lava bricks and, what we saw, poorly maintained. We did not find a restaurant that served food to our, pretty wide ranging, taste or standards!!

Picking a hotel on line can be hazardous, but this hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff were absolutely lovely (please can I borrow Gilles!), the food was beautiful, the Spa massage was one of the best I have had, and we loved all the little seating areas, which allowed us to sit and read in shade (we were there during a heatwave) in various places around the hotel. It is well positioned for exploring the Auvergne and nearby Besse is a pretty little town too. We hope to return as it was such a lovely experience.
