The Good: Great central location within easy walking distance of all that central Bautzen has to offer. Parking Great breakfast Good sized rooms The bad: No air-conditioning Rooms only made up on demand so make sure that you put that hanger on your door each morning!
The plus points were what you'd expect from a chain hotel of this class - efficient reservation and check-in, clean and modern room where everything worked, a comfortable bed and a no-surprises breakfast buffet. My problem? Our room was too hot, and with no A/C this meant sleeping with open windows. In a group of trees opposite the hotel, a group of presumably homeless persons partied into the small hours, and their dog barked most of the night. Joy riders revved their engines and sped down the road beneath our sixth-floor window. Priority one for any hotel guest is a good night's sleep, and I didn't have one. I can't judge whether rooms facing away from the road are any quieter.
We stayed for one night as a stopover on our way to Krakow. Not a particularly great looking building from the outside but very nice inside. Parking was good at the rear of the hotel. Receptionist was very helpful. We arrived to 30 degree heat just before a thunderstorm so were slightly concerned that there wasn't air conditioning in the room but a fan was provided so it wasn't too bad, although the sound of the fan clicking all night was annoying! We ate in the restaurant, the waitress was very friendly and the food was great. The town of Bautzen looked good but we only had the evening there so didn't get to see too much. Some great ice cream shops! We would definitely stay again for a stopover if needed.
Definitely not charming but well located in the center, very decently priced and offering large, well equipped and comfortable rooms, this hotel is certainly a nice place to stay in Bautzen. Front desk is smiling and efficient, the hotel offers a pleasant sauna and parking is possible in or outside. Only(relatively minor) minus is the poor quality/efficiency of the blinds, so expect lots of light in the morning if you don't plan to get up with the sun. Unpleasant but this is quite a common problem in many hotels.
First visit to Bautzen, one of beautiful city of Germany, this hotel is having a great centralized location, and surrounded by leaning tower, food street very near, very good view from the hotel, especially when you are at 6th floor, paid parking available in the hotel, a very good restaurant with various option for vegetarian and non vegetarian lovers.
The hotel is very central with parking to the rear. The parking can be busy in the evenings. The room was a good size with a choice of pillows. The restaurant is good and a great selection of food for breakfast. The hotel is central with the market in the square.
This was a Best Western like many other Best Western hotels. Nothing to complain about. The room was comfortable (very hot when I arrived, but opening the window helped). It was also clean and the people were friendly enough. Breakfast was included, which is very good and the buffet was above average. One thing they could improve on is the hotel bar. This is always a difficult topic in these types of hotels, but the area was very small and with a big pillar it was difficult for us to sit with a small group. I never found out what the ‘Plus' in the name stands for, though.
So tried to find a hotel late at night in the Czech Republic with zero luck. So drove three hours to Germany and were lucky to find this place. The initial reaction when we came in was they were fully booked. But at 1am there were a few reservations who never showed and we got their room. Was very grateful as we were exhausted. The room was nothing special. Very generic. But it was clean and comfortable and I got a great nights sleep. Parking was free but you need a slug from the front desk to get out of the lot. The breakfast was great and the coffee was appreciated.
We arrived early Saturday evening without a reservation. The lady at reception was friendly and professional. She said could offer an executive room with complimentary breakfast ,at a higher rate that we expected to pay, she could only drop the parking charge for us. We decided to stay , it was indeed the room worth the money. Big room with American space and standards with double bed and good mattress. Bath and shower also with a lot of space and WC in a separate room. All the amenities also provided ,flat TV screen and WiFi without extra charge. Our room overlooking the castle and the center of Bautzen. Buffet Dinner was quite good at a reasonable charge with a variety of dishes.Chicken, pork and local specialties as well as salads and different cheese and deserts Buffet Breakfast was also good with many things to choose from and the traditional pot of German coffee.Overall a good night stay and experience from a well trained Hotel staff .Try this Hotel if you are in the area although you may also find it a little expensive.
Very, very standard hotel, very clean, comfortable rooms, from this point everything is standard. But the surprise came when I have decided to take my dinner in their restaurant. Apart from the special and dedicated service rendered during my dinner, I have tasted not only one marvellous dish but also drinked awesome beers, checkong that they have even more to offer, and that I want to repeat, 4ever!!!
If you do not eat "Brötchen und Aufschnitt" you may ask yourself why they charge €13 for a cold breakfast. Fortunately, right next to the Hotel you can buy fresh fruit and a bit further is an Edeka where you can buy fresh cornflakes and other cereals that the Hotel does not keep fresh.
We have spent one night with two children in a suit with a king sized bed. First of all the hotel is located in the city center, which is perfect if one wants to take a walk in the evening. The hotel has a parking and in July we found plenty of empty places. The staff was very competent, and well prepared for our arrival. The suite had two rooms and both were fairly spacious and well equipped with modern/new furnitures.Beds for the children and for us were very convenient. Bathroom was very nice/clean and well equipped as well. What really impressed me though was that in the breakfast the honey was served directly from a framed honeycomb. Definitely will go back and recommend this hotel with children.
I stayed only one night. On arrival I drove to the hotel parking lot, but must realize that several bays are owned by other companies, so dont park there. Moreover, two drivers had no adequate skills and blocked the places adjacent. At the end, I got one place at the end. Long story short, the receptionist mentioned a sign with hint going to whatever street - I have no idea where this street is and in the dark with heavy rain the sign was relatively invisible..but my car was well ! Very friendly and effecient checking, friendly staff. The room was spacey enough, also the bathroom. Good bed with a choice of hard and soft cushion (both were there !). Good matrasse, but the blanket reached only for one person, but I was solo. Flat screen, coffee kettle (not used), smal desk, a chair and small sitting area. Shower in tub, soap in dispenser, enough and good towlels, venting a bit of noisy but stops sometime after the light goes off. Water pressure ok, also temperature. Room was very silent. Also a deposit box, a minibar, a lot of coat hangers, a baggage support. AC couldnt be controlled, but was not to loud. I slept well. Floor was nice and every thing worked fine. Breaky was great - fresh fruit (melone, pineapple, al sweet and juicy !), also fruit salad, scrambled eggs w and w/o ham, sausages, bacon. Cerelas, milk (also free of lactose), juices, coffee, tea, buns and croissant, bread, marmalde, honey, ham, cheese, tomato/mozarella, smoked salmon and so forth. For a german hotel really great, and a wonderful surprise ! Everything was of good quality, the watresses are attentive and nice. Checkout was efficient and , yeah, friendly staff ! The next time definitely again !
Pros 1) Very good hotel, good location 2) Fantastic Service by the staff. Absolutely top class Cons 1) Extremely poor WiFi in the rooms. Have to go down to the lobby and use anther WiFi everytime you need internet.
Clean and comfortable hotel with good location, nice view to old 'German pisa' tower and parking in the yard. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Small double room, but enough for short stay. Good breakfast. Nice old town, worth to visit it.
Stayed here for two nights. Close to city centre and easy walk to most places of interest. Vehicle parking included in cost of the room, WIFI is available. Breakfast was good. View from 6th floor is good.
Best western plus. I wonder where the plus comes in. This hotel doesn't seem to know that a double room actually can be used by two people. One comfortable chair, one beerglass, one packet of coffee and one of decaf. One code for the wifi per device. We both own a computer and a cell and I don't think we are the exception. A phonecall led to a second access code brought up to the room in minutes. We arrive at the end of a heatwave. We found out that this hotel doesn't come with airconditioning. We had dinner here. The food is very well prepared. The portions were to small however. Doubling up on the potatoes and the veggies would have made it "enough" and with that it would have gone to very good. Now it was very good flavour and irritation over skimping. When my wife moved the desk chair to the window two screws fell out. The open window caused the windowsill to get wet. When we dried that it turned out that either the rain or the window sill was filthy. The beds are very good. We were on the street side and are people that like to sleep with the windows open. Espescially when the room is still warm after a heatwave. There was a political rally going on on the square almost in front of the hotel. Luckily the second part of the rally started when we opened the windows: irish folk music. I am a fan and my wife doesn't mind it. For us it is ok. If you really don't like irish folk your choices would have been: sweltering in the room or listening to loud music you don't like. The music stopped at ten. The view from the window is lovely. It looks out over the old town. All in all, this hotel is overpriced by 30 to 40 percent.
Again I was satisfied with accommodation in this hotel by my last business trip. It offers high standard german quality of accomodation and meals. I can high recommend to book this hotel by your visit of Saxon, Bautzen.
So, fairly somewhat-above-average hotel, but with a very nice view of the city! Can't complain about the service, or efficiency when checking in, or helpfulness with where to go and what to look at in the city. Nice rooms, free wifi.
This hotel is ideally situated. We took many pictures of Bautzen's architectural wonders from our sixth floor window. It is a 10 minute picturesque walk to the train station. The room was comfortable. We did not try the breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay in Bautzen and would definitely stay at this hotel again.
We stayed for a weekend at room # 424, room and bathroom are appropriate. The common rooms lobby and bar are uncomfortable and the diningroom has the ambiance of a canteen. The cheesy Christmas tree and tabledekoration are genuine plastic and horrible to look at. Breakfast is average, no more no less and no eggs to order. We had diner every night and it was quiet good and the price reasonable. The service (waiter and check-in) is good, attentive and unobtrusive. The computer workstation with printer in the lobby is complimentary.
