Best Western Desert Villa Inn

Surprised by the number of positive reviews of breakfast. The one morning we ate here, there was no fresh fruit (or even canned or dried fruit), no healthy bread choice, and the yogurt machine was broken. We also didn't like the room layout. We chose the room with the sofa, as my husband lounges on one whenever he can. But he couldn't read on it because there was no light above or near it, and you couldn't comfortably watch TV from it. Also, there was no divider between the room and bathroom area, so one person using the bathroom likely disturbs a partner who is sleeping by turning on the bathroom light and/ or sink.

This place is an updated motel. Once again, for this area, I felt like I paid too much, but the room was clean and breakfast was good. They had waffles, omelets, potatoes, sausage and biscuits with gravy. Staff at both check in and check out were friendly.

This location was near the railroad tracks and it was very quiet considering. It was very convenient access to the freeway. Breakfast was served hot. I wish that they would put extra towels in the room. Ice machine was difficult to get to.

First, I must talk about Mr. Raj. Checked me in. What a kind and polite person. The hotel is perfect, everything is very clean and tidy. The room everything worked perfectly. A special chapter for breakfast. Very varied, two very kind ladies, always replacing items and asking if everything is ok. Don't waste time looking for a hotel in Barstow, this is the place. Congratulations Mr Raj for your hotel and your entire team.

There's a small fenced in area behind the building where you can take your dog off leash and let them explore. Its not very big but its nice to have them be off-leash. Tile floors in room, best for dogs.Room was very clean and included micro and fridge. Hot water immediately

The hotel was excellent. The room was very clean, the staff friendly and they had a great breakfast. I also had my dog and the room was plenty roomy for her kennel as well. I would highly recommend it!

This was supposed to be a free stay as we had coupons for free rooms and we had points also which we set up before we arrived our credit card invoice arrived today and we were charger $132 dollars for the room which is way more than the advertised rate of $92 dollars on a saturday. They also charged a fee for my service dog, which is illegal and I will turn them in for this as service dogs are under the disability act. they gave me a invoice for zero dollars when I left and lied about no charges on the bill. The rooms were ok but something like this makes it not worth the stop. a month later (now) we receive this bill and have called both the hotel and the Best Western corporate and have gotten nowhere with them after over an hour and a half. So this review and be aware the ADA is being contacted and you may face the consequences of your actions.

Easy check in and check out. Room were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was good and hot! Everyone was kind at the hotel and helpful. We will certainly be back the next time we are in town. Thanks so much for everything.

After spending the previous night in a semi-sleazy night at an of the wall location it was a breath of fresh air dripping in Barstow. We were pleasantly surprised to see what we've come to expect while staying at a Best Western. Thank you for keeping up with the BW standards. I'm sure we will come again.

Our room smelled like dirty socks when we arrived. Several electric outlets didn't work. Towels were a little thin. No hot tub; we were disappointed after a long drive. On the positive side, staff is very friendly. The breakfast and breakfast room were nice.

I originally gave this hotel a poor rating due to a continual issue with "Dirty Carpets!" The manager responded to my concern in the typical "Scripted" apology and provided his phone number if I wished to further talk about the problem. Well, I did call back and left my name and phone number. It has been more than 2 weeks since that call. I've yet to have him respond. I will NO LONGER stay here as I and my wife have been doing twice a year for many years!

This was a decent stay between LA and Arizona. Everything worked fine, the bed was alright, and the breakfast was okay. The lobby was locked when we arrived around 10:30pm, there was a side door and an odd plexiglass window setup that we used to check in which was weird but worked fine.

Clean and convenient area to stay. Breakfast was the best we've had in 10 days. Would stay here again if we're in the area and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Very welcoming when we arrive and departed. I liked the pet room didn't have rugs, so pet friendly.

Good comfortable room at a very reasonable price. It was easy make my room selection using their website, and easy check-in at the front desk. It was easy to check-out, phoning the front desk from the room phone.

This is a great hotel! Friendly staff, great breakfast with hot and cold options and nice clean rooms with comfy beds and pillows. Easy access on and off interstate. Would definitely stay here again.

Customer service improvement, check rooms thoroughly (dead fly in bed sheets) noise have the night & early morning (some kind of drilling) last time we stayed they had no breakfast, someone was smoking but denied it. So nothing was done.

Our visit and sleep was quiet. The room was larger than expected and nicely arranged. The wall lights gave us more room at each side table next to our king bed....especially nice because we both use cpaps. This will be our hotel of choice each time we stop in Barstow, which is twice a year. Well done!

It's not a bad little place. Quiet and kids had fun in the pool. The only thing that wasn't great was that you couldn't actually access the fridge. The door opens the wrong way, and you can't get past. Housekeeping missed our room clean also. Other than that it was ok

Shampoo Your Carpets More Frequently!! This is not the first time I've informed the staff upon check-out. I expect more from BW. Will I receive compensation in the future? I have other BW options in Barstow!

Convenient location, clean room, friendly staff all at a reasonable price! We were looking for just a quick night on the road to split up a long drive and this worked just fine. Great value. If you are a Route 66 traveler, this is the hotel for you. Our room was spotless and spacious. Breakfast was wonderful! Tons of hot and cold items, good coffee and juice selection. Staff was very nice. Convenient location.

Room was comfortable and clean. Rooms have been renovated since we last stayed here. Bed comfortable but pillows not so much. I brought my own so not a big deal. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay here again.

We stayed at the Best Western Desert Inn in Barstow on our way from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara. The motel is placed right between the highway and the railroad, which is very noisy. There are ear-plugs in the room when you arrive.. there is a reason for this!!! Very noisy both night and day. The motel is placed right next to a trailerpark which makes it feel quite unsafe to stay there. Only lucky thing was that we only stayed 1 night. The pool is dirty and water not clear, don't go there!!! I cannot recommend this motel. Find something better. Barstow is sadly affected by a lot of unemployment, this also makes the city not safe at night. Stay outside Barstow instead.

When picking a hotel, I look for a hotel with the TripAdvisor "award" logo on the hotel thumbnail photo. Also, I accidentally left my driver's license with the check-in person at the front desk. When I checked out the next day, the person in the morning gave me my license back...WHEW! That's great customer service and attentiveness.

We had stayed at this motel several years ago when making a Route 66 road trip. Again, it was fun to stay on Route 66. The motel room, maybe the whole motel, seemed to have undergone a renovation and it was very nice. The room was modern. Comfortable bed, clean room. Good breakfast.

Noisy. Right by a freight train track. Right off interstate. There were earplugs on the night table when we got into the room! The pool was St Patrick's Day green with cigarette butts and aluminum cans floating. Trash laying around. Front desk said they thought the pool guy fixed it days ago. Huh? The bed was comfortable. Very small room. It was OK for one night, but we were hot and tired and looked forward to the pool which obviously didn't happen.

This was a pretty good hotel. The location is right off the I-40 freeway, which was convenient. However, the area is a bit iffy, with some vacant buildings and some youngish homeless people wandering about in the early morning hours. The room was OK and the bed was comfortable. Our biggest complaint was that the air conditioner was not optimal...seemed to need freon or some type of maintenance. It was 110 degrees when we arrived, and the room could have been cooler. It did finally cool off after the sun had been down for awhile. The water pressure and temperature was good. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had during our month-long trip. There was a variety of choices, and the hot dishes were much better than the standard fare offered by other hotels. The Internet pricing was very good due to a "flash sale".

Place was last stop before the dessert. Turned out it was perfect for our trip. Right off the highway. Had a nice down stairs room and the breakfast was very nice. We have been on the road for 10 days and my husband said it was the best breakfast in a hotel so far.

This hotel did the trick for us for the night. Bed was clean and comfy, check in was great and really friendly. We were able to park right outside our door and there were heaps of cars and people here which made us feel safe. Close to food. Breakfast was yummy. Would stay again no hesitation.

The room was perfect for me in my stay. I was traveling a long distance and was very tired. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. She worked with me on my rewards and was very professional.

Absolutely disgusting. I chose this place based on the decent reviews, and they must have been getting paid. When you first pull in, the first thing you notice is the large amount of homeless people hanging out. It felt very unsafe. We were given a “deluxe” room which is in a corner underneath the staircase and is unlit, which again, feels unsafe. The place appears to have been renovated but they just threw some paint on the garage that was here. We walked into our room and immediately met with a dead fly on the bed, which my daughter went straight for. There were also about 10 others we killed ourselves throughout the night. Not to mention the dirty used towel hanging on the shower curtain rod. We didn't even want to open our suitcases. They stayed by the door, and we slept and left immediately in the morning. This place is fine if you just want to sleep, but if you have children or want a relaxing stay, this is not it.

Of all Best Westerns, this one has the best breakfast ever. For me and my food sensitivities, there were multiple options that many others offering "full breakfast" do not have. The staff also were warm, hospitable, and acted as though we were their honored guests.

This hotel was just OK. The staff was nice enough. The room was clean enough. The air conditioner was extremely loud in the room. It was 107 degrees out but the pool was closed for repairs. The location was freeway close but was not very easy to get in or out of.

The hotel is average for Barstow. The hotel is near train tracks but we did not hear the trains at all because the A/C unit is nice and loud. There is a dog run at back of hotel but it is just dirt and not well maintained. The parking lot shares a driveway with a mobile home park which is odd but did not cause any problems.

This place was incredible, sure exceeded my expectations considering the location. We got a nice view of the desert but my favorite was the unexpected breakfast quality, it was SO GOOD. Thank you!!!!!

The door to the room became very difficult to open - both from the outside and from the inside. It was also loud, between the train and the traffic. I appreciated that there were earplugs to use. The breakfast was good, and the employees were friendly and helpful.

The price was right and the location although near the inter-state proved quiet enough for a good sleep. The staff have their act together here. Breakfast was very good and the kitchen staff were next level excellent. Will definitely use this hotel on future visit to this part of the country.

1-27-23 I stayed at this hotel on Tuesday night, 1-24-23. Room was clean and comfy. Great flat screen and cable package. Fridge and microwave and coffee pot a big plus. Was able to park the car right outside the door for easy unpacking. Front desk accommodating when I requested a room close to the lobby.

We are traveling with and infant and a toddler, the rooms were clean and well stocked with towels, there was even a cute towel animal on the bed that my toddler loved! Fridge and microwave were clean and working. The breakfast was sooooooo good. Wow and the staff was so friendly and Maria even held my baby for me while I ate breakfast and she made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be staying again and thank you so much a nice stay.

We were traveling through. The staff were polite, the room was very clean, comfortable, and priced right. I have traveled extensively and was raised at a family ran resort in Minnesota. This hotel is an excellent value in the area. I would stay here again without a doubt.

Conveniently located near I-40 and I-15, but you don't hear the freeway traffic. I got worried when I saw earplugs on the nightstand, but those were for the trains (I didn't need them). I turned on the fan and slept comfortably. Nice breakfast from 6am to 9:30am, convenient and easy check in. Rooms are pretty modern for this being an older hotel. No problems here and I felt safe and it had everything I needed (microwave, fridg, etc).

We have stayed at many Best Westerns over the years and have always had good experiences. This one started off great, the staff was extremely friendly when I called and great in person. The room on the other hand was not. The "higher level" room was the last room in a motel-style hotel on the first floor. A screw in the door handle was coming out and the lock inside was extremely loose with markings on the frame like someone tried to break in. Earplugs were provided as the hotel backed onto a freeway and train tracks. The garbage truck picked up trash outside our window at 6:00 am. The bathroom light covers were missing and the couch rockhard. The room was clean and large, but that is about all I can say for it.

The hotel has everything you'd expect from BW. The only issue was it's next to the freeway which made it noisy for my gf. She had a bit of a rough time sleeping. Also, it was a bit expensive for the stay

Easy access from the freeway and close to lots of amenities - gas stations, food, etc. Property close to train tracks but rooms blocked out the sound well. Great if you like trains tho! Full breakfast provided not just pastries and coffee. Great way to start the day. We stayed here twice on our road trip and we would stay here again!

I must admit I was a bit cautious about staying here after reading reviews about the noise from trains and highways, as I am quite noise sensitive. Since the rest of the reviews were so good we decided to give it a try. If the noise was as bad as some folks reported, we simply would not stay again. Our stay was a delight from the friendly staff at check in to the very clean, updated and welcoming room with comfy beds. The noise was a non issue. (didn't even use the earplugs!). Yes, I heard trains go by a couple of times before going to sleep- but it was a distant sound, not at all disturbing and I wasn't awakened by them during the night. I think the train/highway noise factor is a very personal subjective judgement. All I can say is that for this noise sensitive woman, I had no problem. We only had coffee in the morning before hitting the road for a breakfast date in L.A. so didn't eat any of the offerings. They were the typical free breakfast items, nothing special but certainly adequate. As for safety, we didn't feel, at all, unsafe. This hotel offers fair value, lovely service and great level of cleanliness. We will definitely stay here again when passing through Barstow.

The dinning room was very clean and tidy with so many choices. There was someone on hand keeping everything tidied up. The plastic cups were all individually wrapped which was nice and the coffee was delicious with three choices of creamers. If I could improve on the room it would be to: put grab bars by the toilet for senior citizens

This is an older facility, but our room was clean, comfortable, and updated. We were able to park right outside of our door. Despite being located near the highway, the room was quiet and we didn't need the provided earplugs. Our room was very spacious and included a king bed, sofa, refrigerator, and microwave. The shower had some of the best water pressure I've ever experienced. Breakfast was the usual mix of hot and cold items. One word of caution, be careful when exiting the parking lot, there's a curve in the road to the left and traffic moves quickly through there.

Bed was very comfortable and the accessible room was perfect! The breakfast was the best we've had at a place we've stayed Great service there and at the front desk check-in. The young lady even took our waters to our car for us!

Very nice hotel. Everything looks like it has been recently refreshed. Room was so clean. Night receptionist, Kinberl, was very personable and check in was easy. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast staff were very welcoming. I heard no trains overnight and freeway nose was at a minimum. Would stay here again.

This place was remodeled, the room extremely clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, the breakfast was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's crazy because I just got back from a cruise and we also stayed at hotel maya a Hilton hotel for 3x the price and this hotel had friendlier staff, way better breakfast, cleaner rooms, and comfier beds. We are very happy with this place!!

Met expectations but a little close to road/trains so not the quietest. Room was adequate but very much 1980s motel quality. Breakfast was warm but coffee is a little thin. Almost the definition of a three star hotel.

The room was very clean and well furnished. It was also very quiet. The hotel staff at check-in and at the breakfast area were both very friendly and courteous. The breakfast area was kept well stocked and very clean.

Lots of people working in the area stay at this hotel. Lots of talking, drinking, fooling around in the parking lot 'after work'. Everyone seemed nice, but after dinner we just stayed in our room. Not loud, just lots of people. This property is located directly next to the freeway, so there might be noise issues from the road being so close to the hotel. We did not feel unsafe, it was just odd to see people in lawn chairs in the parking lot!

Comfy beds. Breakfast was very good, and there was plenty for everyone. Unlike some places I have stayed where they run out of items. The shower curtain though needd work to anchor it to the wall. Overall a good experience.

My expectations were extremely low after being stuck in traffic for hours, so staying at this wonderful Desert Villa Inn was just fantastic. We spent a very comfortable night. It was cool, quiet and very clean. I would absolutely stay here again! Thank you for a well-needed good night's sleep.

This was a great overnight stop in our travels. It's located on Historic Route 66. We thought it would be noisy, as Interstate 40 ran close by, and there were train tracks across the street. The hotel provided earplugs, but we didn't need them. The hotel is dog friendly, the room was large, and everything worked. The included breakfast was tasty, with plenty of hot and cold selections. We would definitely stay here again!

Driving through and have stayed here before, mostly because of the location right off I40. Hadnt been so enamored with the hotel last few times but they have really improved. Good shower, soaps and lotion, enough towels, full breakfast (and almond milk, yaaay), comfy mattress and pillows and place to charge phones. Thanks for the improvements

This Best Western is nicer and larger than the one in Needles, CA. The room was clean but unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for the swimming pool. Convenient to on/off ramps of freeway. Traffic noise not too bad.

We stopped on a long drive from Yosemite to Grand Canyon. Plenty of quick food options nearby. Don't think there are any other towns in any directions for hours. Basic BW but clean and met our needs. Barstow at confluence of 3 major highways and major railway so noisy. Leaving earplugs in guest rooms would be helpful!

We stayed in this hotel for just a quick 12 hours and were delighted with the fresh clean room and comfortable bed. We had a good nights sleep and were on our way again. We recommend this hotel, it's worth the price you pay for the room. Thanks Best Western!

Property is close to highway and easy to access. Rooms are updated and ours was very clean. Quiet at night. Breakfast was ample. Many healthy choices. Great coffee. Front desk was cordial. Would stay again.

Front desk staff was courteous & helpful. Lots of pillows on the beds. Convenient to local restaurants. Refrigerator. Full breakfast. Real egg omelets, real fried potatoes with parmesan cheese. NOT processed food. Waffles, fruit,cereal, bagels & rolls, juice & coffee.

What I like most of the place during my stay is its cleanliness in the room especially the restroom/washroom, white and clean, the beds are neat, well-tucked in, pillows are my favorite, they gave me and my family comfort and better quality sleep. Affordable price. Convenient along route 66. Keep up the good job!

Check in was easy and quick. Coffee was available in the office. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast had plenty of options. It was close to several restaurants, but none were walking distance. There was a big Walmart and shopping center night around the corner. It is right next to a main road but it was quiet during the night.

Comfortable bed, may need to request an extra blankets and softer pillow. We were driving so we brought our own. Nicely updated rooms. Great breakfast.. eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, biskets and gravy, oatmeal. perfect!! Front desk helpful.

Efficiently located for our route from the Grand Canyon to LA. It's a true roadside hotel, where breakfast is included in the room rental. Breakfast was not a great selection, but suitable for our purpose. When we visited they were redoing the parking lot paint, and rooms were clean and maintained. No real amenities other than a small outside pool, but we weren't in need, nor expecting a lot. Efficient pick for a road trip for a reasonable price.

The best western in Bastow seems according to the number of stars and pictures a very nice place to stay... however, the picture are misleading, the motel is stuck between the highway and the train (very nosy) hopefully the noise of the air conditionning is so loud that is covers both of them (but prevents you to sleep). The pool seems to be one of a fairy tale, and as all fairy tales they are just stories: this one is small, crappy and dirty...

Me and my family decided to take a last minute beach day trip so we went to Newport hung out all day at the beach with our kids and then decided to drive back home that same day but we got tired and decided to get a room and we looked up rooms close by and found desert villa booked the room and it was perfect and the free breakfast was so good very fulfilling would deff recommend this place

Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile The room was simple, fairly new, clean and cozy. I felt very comfortable and safe during my stay. There is a train across the way and if close to the front you may feel the bed rumble a bit but it passed quickly and I don't recall hearing it again. Earplugs are kindly provided on the nightstand, but couldn't imagine I would find them necessary. (Possibly just an amenity) The breakfast was hot and fresh with plenty of choices to select from. Full staff visible and available the entire time of my stay, and the ladies running the dining room were friendly and accommodating. My stay was booked over the phone an hour before my arrival for a little over $100, so I was satisfied with the rate... plus, breakfast! While in the dining room I overheard a father informing his family he would be booking a room for their return stay. Nice little spot to stay if you find yourself needing a room while in Barstow.

Very quiet close to shopping center and fast food joints that made it very convenient. A/C worked great which was awesome do to the heat. Staff was great very friendly and helpful they also offered the fast check out which made it easy to leave with out going to the front desk .

Don't stay here. Get on 15 and go 5 miles to a much nicer area. As I was checking in, a shirtless, shoeless man walked in the main lobby swearing at me not to call the police on him just because he's homeless. He got water and then continued to yell at me. The staff did nothing but watch. He then tapped on the window of my car trying g to engage with my two young daughters. We used the pool, only to find a used condom outside of the pool area. The room was clean enough, but it was very loud being so close to the expressway.

We were moving our disabled friend to the vets home & needed a nearby hotel. This was a good spot near his facility. Our room was clean & served our purpose. The grounds were in decent condition. Saw a bit of litter around our parking space. Nice ear plugs amenity since we didn't know about the train tracks across the street from the hotel. Good breakfast selection. Friendly staff.

Parking lot extremely dirty. Breakfast was a little on the greasy side. More attention should be paid to health food options. Less deep fried foods. Appreciate the courteous staff and maintenance personnel

I believe my pillow was sneakily stolen. I accidentally left my pillow and when I returned to pick it up I was given a pillow, wrapped in a plastic bag, with my silk pillow case on it (it has been washed) but inside my silk pillow case was a lumpy Best Western pillow rather than my down pillow. The lady at the front desk appeared to look around for my actual pillow but of course she could not find it and was “unsure” of how a Best Western pillow ended up in my silk pillowcase. I hope whoever stole it enjoys it.

Staff was courteous, kind, and helpful. The free breakfast was delicious and had great choices. The room was clean and met my needs. The AC worked fine and the bed was comfortable. Checking in and out was timely.

nice, clean motel with reasonable pricing. good continental breakfast bar that was kept well stocked and clean. totally different than the BW North in Raleigh. NC. would recommend for your overnite stay.

For the price, this was a great hotel. Clean and comfortable with very friendly and competent staff. The rooms are near the railroad tracks but the staff thoughtfully provided complimentary ear plugs. I didn't need them but it was a nice gesture for those who are more sensitive

standard best western clean rooms, next to freeway and train yard so a little bit noisy, did not notice it would probably stay there again if in the area (Barstow, CA.) Staff helpful with suggestions of placed to dine.

The entire place clean and comfortable. I did not feel like I was going to bring home any unwanted guests. The breakfast was fresh and hot. The coffee was never dry. The entire staff was kind, respectful, and Profesional. Check out the Mc Donalds/ Panda Express just down the road.

This was not my first stay here. I previously noted that after walking around in my white socks there were a bit dirty. This visit was not as bad, but the carpests still attention. I did bring this to attention to the stafff member upon checking out.

This motel is right next to the freeway, but I requested a quieter room on the other side of the property, so I didn't really hear it. The AC drowned it out anyway, and they provide earplugs in case you need them. Room was comfortable and pretty clean. This location seemed safer than the other motels closer to the middle of town; I also noticed they had an on-site security guard walking around. The hot breakfast was excellent (loved the omelets, biscuits/gravy and potatoes).

It was a great place to stay after 8 hrs drive, 3 states. My friend Michael, recommended it. Put me right where I needed to be by 58 hwy. Ashley at check in made it fast, friendly and very helpful with price. When I travel again I will recommend to my travel friends.

So welcoming and helpful. My dog whom has disabilities hurt hi.self and the front lady helped get me medical supplies to help him. I was so grateful for her and she has animals of her own so I knew she under stood my circumstances

We have used this hotel at least three times in the past when on motorcycle trips to the southwest. It is an easy days ride from the Bay Area of CA. The property is clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. If you need to overnight in Barstow, CA this is a good choice.

Location was exceptional, close proximity to dining, shopping and gas. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean, I loved the wood floor, though overall a little small for a wheelchair accessible room.

We arrived late at night and were greeted with a smile. The reception and room were clean and well kept. The bathroom looked updated. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was good. It was just what we needed to recoup from a long driving day and get on our way in the morning. There were earplugs on the nightstand but we were tired, slept well and never needed them.

Some people complained about noise on highway in the reviews, but it really wasn't that bad at all I didn't even notice it. The loudest thing was some annoying guests talking outside my room at 7am, but the hotel is clean nice and the perfect place to stay on the way to LA.

All good with our stay. Shower could be improved (water pressure and more in general the water kind of goes all over the place) but otherwise clean, comfortable beds, quite location, rich breakfast and kind staff

We stop here on our way to Nevada/Utah trip and it was worth the stay. The views in the morning before you start your trip were great. Breakfast was great with dine in option and enough to power up you day. One note is that the Barstow trains run on the fron area across the street, so try to get a room away from the street.

This was a great stay, the rooms were clean and nice looking. The area is a little dingy but the motel itself was very nice. No loud neighbors or problems while there. It was overall a good experience.

This is the older of the 2 Best Western hotels in this area. I read a lot of Complaints about road noise and thus scores were low. I feel that is as if someone provided a low score to a pizzeria because their pizza pie was round versus octagon shape. The purpose of hotels situated like this are to provide easy on/off highways for travel. Most people that choose these hotels want this easy on/off convenience. Therefore, one cannot complain about road noise from the very highway they want east on/off access to. That being said. Front desk staff were wonderful- namely Ashley- who had the room all ready upon arrival and made recommendations on what is good to eat. The room was huge and very clean. No complaints whatsoever and would definitely come back here to stay.

We made a last minute reservation after heading west on Rt. 66 from a trip to the Grand Canyon. We weren't sure how far we would get, and Barstow was it. Super clean room, and very welcoming check in by Ashley. We ended up at Peggy Sue's for dinner, a perfect conclusion to a day of driving Route 66.

Easy to find, check inn was fast and staff was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. It was quiet after 10:00 and I slept really well. I appreciated they are pet friendly, only downside there wasn't a designated pet area. We made it work though. I would stay there again.

A five star rating in Trip Advisor does not mean you are staying at five star resort. You are getting what you hope for in price range. This motel provides it. Check in was friendly and efficient. Room has been recently updated paint, carpet etc and was clean. Comfortable firm bed. Breakfast included hot items served by friendly staff from behind a table. Only suggestion is to make it clear that this is currently not self service. There was no sign.

Stayed one night. It is close to both the 40 and 15 freeways. The rooms were nice seemed like good parking. Had a great breakfast and helpful staff working. Several places to eat around the hotel. I would stay again if in the area.

I've stayed here multiple times and every te has been clean and comfortable, never too much noise and usually there is a bunch of workers staying here so there's no creepy folks here. Every te I come to barstow I stay here. Always great service as well. Breakfast was fully stocked and large variety.

Hotel staff were accommodating and pleasant from arrival to check out. Double queen room with large tv and desk area for setting up laptop. Would definitely recommend. Easy access to freeway and many options for dining close by.

Yikes! Must put this on a list of places not to stay. It's straight up, a dump. In fact, it's a motel and a trailer park. The room smells like cigarettes, old carpet, and cheap motel. The sheets are old thinned and gray. I chose not to sit on the toilet and not to use the shower. We didn't walk barefoot here and slept with our clothes on since nothing felt clean. Wish I'd paid a little more for another hotel but usually Best Western hotels keep a certain standard that we can expect while traveling on road trips. This ain't it. I'm pretty sure the Motel 6 is better than this. They have ear plugs on the nightstand because of the noise levels. Folks are zooming around on atvs between hotel and trailer park. Morning can't come soon enough. Hope we are able to get some rest and no one breaks into our car.

After reading the reviews about noise levels and rude staff, we were apprehensive about staying at this property. Upon arrival (a bit early) we were greeted by very nice and helpful staff. The room was spacious and clean. Most reviews commented about noise from trains, and traffic. We stayed 2 nights and experienced neither. The only outside noise we experienced was from a certain resident of the adjoining trailer park, who felt it necessary to play his "Booming" stereo loudly while going through the parking lot. Overall a nice stay. Will stay again when in the area. Only complaint is very low water pressure. We had a total of 4 rooms in our party. All had the same issue.

Basic room, a little noisy with train traffic close by, but did not keep me awake. It was clean, bed was comfortable. Breakfast choices were varied and good. Internet strength was good. Easy drive up parking in front of room.

We returned to this hotel because our first visit provided everything we needed on our cross-country trip. The front desk people were friendly and helpful, the room provided everything we needed, ans was clean and in working order.

This was the first time I had ever been offered a handicap room. When the staff saw I was a 100% disabled vet, they offered me a handicap accessible room. When I saw the bathroom tears sprang up to my eyes. My husband was so happy for me .

The location was okay. The room was clean and updated with a fresh coat of paint, new furnishings and appliances, along with new linens and towels. I did not hear noise from nearby train or traffic. My dog and I slept soundly.

I recommend this hotel if you are traveling cross country need and nice place to stay. It is the first hotel I have stayed at since covid started and was leery of staying at any hotel. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the place was, including washable remote control. It was reasonably priced and included a free breakfast that I could carry back to my room. I will be staying there on my return trip home .

Clean room. Nice front desk attendant. Terrible sewer smell once shower got turned on. Permeated everything and could not be forgotten. Really noisy - hotel in very close proximity to highway and railroad.

Hotel clerk was very pleasant & helpful. Our room was really cozy & clean. I love the fact that our car was right next to our door. It made it so much easier to pack & unpack. The breakfast was very good & the place was well stocked with items. I also used Wi-Fi & had no problems at all. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone looking for a clean & friendly place to stay.

So “check in” is now 2pm and “check out” is 11am. Normally we leave before 10am but this time we left shortly after 11am. Our host was gracious and said they appreciate our loyalty and hope to see us again. When we arrived early in the evening, the parking lot (for a weekday) was more than ½ full, so if you want to park your car in front of your room or park next to the stairs, plan to arrive early. You will still find parking but walking to your room will be involved. But it is an easy walk. The hotel has a security guard that patrols the hotel grounds from 9pm to dawn. I woke up around 2am and I opened the room's door to see if I could see the security guard. Instead, I saw a person rushing me, but he suddenly stopped, and I saw him trying to coach his dog back into the room. I was told at breakfast the next morning that he told 2 hrs.' of his time coaching to get his dog back into the room. As always this BW is clean, comfortable, serves a good breakfast, and always has staff that will assist you in helping you resolve whatever problem you encounter.

This Best Western had every thing we were looking for. Older hotels but very nicely updated. Both staff members we dealt with upon arrival and departure were extremely friendly and efficient. Also, the staff in the breakfast room was excellent...she even poured our coffee and brought it to the table.

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. At 40 F. outside the well functioning heater was appreciated. The check in staff was courteous and friendly as was the breakfast lady and the cleaning people.

Clean tidy room . We ran the fan all night, trains were not an issue. Check in and out was very easy. We were able to park right outside our room which was very convenient. The shower worked well, plenty of hot water.

Recently refreshed, clean and functional. Pretty good deal in Barstow. Convenient to my business with BNSF. Checkin was efficient. Didn't try breakfast simply because there was a great independent donut shop next door. Room was fresh and well made up.

There isn't much nearby but the Baron's Pizza place delivers and it has great pizza. The rooms come with complimentary earplugs so you can try to sleep through the near constant trains that pass by right across the road. There is actually a great view right across the street ad the staff were all wonderful, hospitable people willing to assist in anything you may need.

This little motel is charming. I highly recommend. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The price is also perfect. I read that the train was bothersome. The noise from the train was minimal. Really was no issue.

We've been having trouble finding a suitable hotel in Barstow, a frequent layover on our trips to California. The Best Western Desert Villa Inn fills the bill! The check-in was quick and easy, the room was spacious and clean, and the whole experience was trouble free.

The odor in and near the hotel smelled foul and sour. The premises had many individuals milling around on the grounds of the hotel and asked me for money or a cigarette. I did not feel my the contents left in my truck were safe and I felt a bit threatened by their presence. The other notable issue is that the hotel is intermixed with a trailer park court, which I found problematic.

It was great, location was awesome. Ashley and Kim was the girls working at the front desk. And they did a great job telling us about the area and pointing us in the right direction on our way out back or the road.

I read the review before booking - it looked reasonable and the reviews (even the negative ones) paled in comparison to some of the other offerings. The room was clean and well kept. There was a nice cruise-ship type of towel sculpture that looked like a swan on one of the beds. The details were very nice. One reviewer complained about the highway ramp so close that traffic noise was an issue. I checked on the map for similarly-price hotels - many are next to freeway or ramps so not unique here. They do try to minimize the noise with inside wood window shutters and complimentary foam ear plugs. FYI - I always carry ear plugs because even in an expensive hotel like Ritz Carlton in Maui gets noisy at 6AM when kids are excited to go to the beach early. My wife got a free trip and I got to go along and ALWAYS carry/wear ear plugs simply because you cannot control source of noise - and sometimes neither can hotel. I would have given 5 stars if they were further away from freeway but then again the price would go up. It's a good tradeoff. I would stay here again.

The hotel is really a motel with access to all rooms outdoors - this wasn't obvious on Best Western's website. The motel is also next to, and practically inside, a mobile home/trailer park, which was also not obvious when booking. The area in general felt really unsafe, I even found a needle in the parking lot and empty cans, presumably for sniffing drugs. There were homeless people screaming at night from the sidewalk in front of the motel. It was very strange that the access to the mobile home facility was the same as the motel, and that it was basically within the area of the motel. There was really no area/space for dogs to go to the bathroom, unless you wandered into the mobile home park.

Easy access off and on interstate for those travelling on thru. Room was clean and bed was comfortable, close to good restaurants. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. Breakfast was not the best but would stay here again.

Very clean hotel. Staff was very highly I would recommended this hotel. Pet friendly hotel and extra care was given to ensure proper cleaning was done. Breakfast was handled under Covid guidelines. Hotel is located off the freeway and plenty of restaurants.

The room and accommodations were very nice. The hotel was clean, with all the amenities we needed. It is located at the crossroads of the interstate and a busy Main Street in town, with a railroad running right next to it. The noise was not bad inside the room, but we were shocked when we arrived, to see where we were. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, we were very pleased.

Nice place to stay. I especially liked the towel folded into an elephant on our bed- welcoming us! Only thing I didn't like was the small single use shampoo and conditioner. Really? I couldn't help thinking of how many of these are sent to landfill (or end up in the ocean) from this hotel in a week, or a month, or in a year!! Yikes! Get with the program, BW- use the large dispensers. Many (more elegant) hotels have made the change.

Good location near hwy interchanges. Front desk courteous. Gave us ground floor room as requested. Bed comfortable but pillow too fat for me (too high for my neck). Brkfst options seem to be dwindling but maybe when i went for brkfst (8am), it was already nearly depleted by previous breakfasting guests. All in all, a good rest stop for a weary traveler.

After deciding the night before to visit the Calico Ghost Town Halloween event, decided on finding a place to stay the night and not drive straight back to LA. This place was about 20 mins. away. Convenient and cozy. Nice and clean.

The room was large (but I paid for the larger room), the ROOM was clean (but it should have been), the towels weren't soft and some had small lighter stains. I put the little sign on the door handle asking to clean the room everyday but the room was never cleaned. I talked to the office and they said every four days the room is cleaned. Since I stayed from Monday - Friday I just figured that maybe housecleaning just cant count to 4!!!

We were upgraded to a Deluxe king. Very nice room. Clean. Only two complaints. The AC unit wasn't working properly. The sheets were scratchy. Nice fridge with freezer and convenient parking. The front desk, although short staffed, were friendly and helpful.

Quick & friendly check in. Room was very clean & nicely decorated. All amenities worked. Property & pool area was clean, safe & well lit. Some trailer parking available. I highly recommend them, it was well worth the money.

This BW is very conveniently located in Barstow, next to convenient Hwy 40 on/off ramps. As such, there is slightly above average road noise, but the rooms seem adequately noise proofed. Service Excellent for Check In and Out. Did not make use of swimming pool, but it seem popular. Location right on main Barstow streets with plenty of dining options.

I always choose the Desert Inn Best Western when traveling through Barstow. It is an excellent facility and the staff goes out of their way to make our stay a comfortable one. Credit to the management of the 5 Star facility for making this the best stop in Barstow for overnight travel.

We stayed at this Best Western as opposed to the newer one because of the price and in hopes to see some historic stuff for Route 66. We stayed in Barstow because we couldn't afford to stay in Ontario where we were attending a funeral. I'm going to give some pros and cons: Pros: 1. Conveniently located near the freeway 2. Clean room. (I use a Clorox wipe to wipe down any and all surfaces and there was no dirt on the wipe when I was done. That's a first. 3. Bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable 4. Offers Directv with movie channels. (If you stay in enough hotels and motels you can really appreciate it) Cons: 1. Really close to the train tracks. A train goes by at least every 45 minutes. 2. The pool is freezing and not very inviting. 3. Shares the same driveway as the mobile home park behind it. Loud cars driving through all day and night. 4. Restaurants and stores are not within a safe walking distance. This is a great place to just sleep for a night and that's what most people staying there do.

Always check any broken items and report it or BW will bill you for someone else mistake. I was charged twice which the quoted bill inaccurate. Very bad day at the Barstow's Best Western. Not recommend

I stay there for work every week and it's such a great value. The check in process is easy and fast. The front desk staff is friendly and efficient. The rooms are cool and clean. The towels are clean. Great deal.

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and modern. Wi-if was dependable. Some train and highway noise, but not so much that I couldn't sleep well. Good working air conditioner. Had micro and frig. Comfortable bed. I would stay here again if I needed to while traveling.

Was greeted with a rate different than quoted and clerk not trained in BW Rewards status. Then it got worse. After camping for a week what do you want first - a hot shower. Nope. Water was still cool after 15 minutes of wasting water. Front desk said 45 minutes. 2 hours later promised after cleaning crew went home. At 8:25pm offered a different room. At 6:30am still no hot water. And even worse, at 6:45 a maintenance person knocked loudly on the door. My wife scrambled to put on her clothes and opened the door. The man entered the room without asking for permission saying that the room was supposed to be empty. No apology. Husband was told at the desk they were "sorry". Nothing else. Got to be better treatment of customers elsewhere.

Everyone was so nice! The reservation was in my husband's name and with his card. We were having work done at the house and ended up arriving separately but it wasn't even a problem checking in! And the ladies gave me treats for our 2 dogs! The room was really nice! Would stay there again! Thanks for the great experience!

The front desk staff who registered / assisted us was exceptionally rude. She did not wear a mask even though there was a sign saying masks required to enter the lobby. She just glared and said “ID and credit card.” Then said “is the second floor ok?” When I asked for another floor, she replied snidely, “It's all I have.” We don't expect any special treatment or choices, but common courtesy, less hostility, and compliance with your own rules seem like reasonable expectations. The room itself was clean and met our expectations. Note: the hotel backs up to a mobile home park and the area is a bit sketchy and loud with motorcycles, people wandering the streets and parking lot. Keep your valuables secured. Staff at checkout were rude again. It's unfathomable to see how they treat their customers. I cannot recommend this place.

We were on the first floor and at night there was a lot of cars with loud blaring music(this went on till about 3am.) The room was clean and the lock worked on the door. If you don't like a lot of noise I wouldn't recommend this place.

The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and professional. We stay there because it is dog friendly and it is so comfortable for all of us. Very glad to have a quick breakfast in the morning. It is also easy access to the freeway and the rooms are spacious.

The breakfast included items for gluten free and dairy free diets (almond milk, Oatmeal, fruit, eggs) and had a lot to offer in variety (breakfast burritos, sandwiches, yogurt, muffins, etc). The staff was friendly and on top of refilling any items that were running low.

Best Western Desert Villa Inn was everything we needed for our overnight stay. The rooms are well designed, clean and cool (it was 103° F when we arrived at 7:30 PM). The beds are comfortable and everything works. Lighting is adequate. The office manager was very conscientious. The breakfast is the usual variety of heatable breakfast choices, and perfectly good. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Barstow.

Veey nice and quiet. The place it self was good. The only thing I didn't like was the drain in the sink was plugged. You would expect that those things are checked regularly. Unfortunately Best western seems to be the newest hotel in Barstow.

Traveling from the Bay Area decided to go a different route so choose Barstow. We choose this location and much to our surprise it turn out to be one of the nicest BW hotels. It was sandwiched between the Railroad Tracks and freeway so naturally thought we would be in for a noisy night as ear plugs were also provided. To our surprise, it was quiet and a very good night sleep. Nice welcoming staff, nice breakfast which has been hit and miss with BW. We will definitely stay here again.

This property has been here a long time. This is the place I stay whenever I'm gong to Las Vegas or headed for Texas. It has been well maintained. It is very easy to find. Great place. Good variety for breakfast. Food was fresh and area keep clean and neat.

1. We appreciated having a room where our two dogs were welcome. 2.The grab and go breakfast items were all individually wrapped. 3. I don't mind noise from trains and did not use the provided earplugs.

The person at the desk was very accommodating in giving us a first floor room and in answering our questions. While the breakfast was limited, it was good. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and Covid protocols were followed.

We stayed here for one night during the recent heatwave. The initial room's AC was not working properly so Jeff at the front desk immediately handled the issue and moved us to an identical room with perfectly running AC. What a relief! The rooms are clean, comfortable & updated. The price is reasonable. And they allow dogs. I would highly recommend staying here. Well done on all levels.

The only issue we had was no hot water in our room however the staff gave us a discount on our room since maintenance was not available until the following day. Good complimentary continental breakfast with good options. There is a mobile home park behind the parking lot however it wasn't noisy. Close to I-40 so they do offer ear plugs but with the A/C we did not use them.

Great place really nice modern clean comfy rooms it was a little loud outside but nothing too terrible. Staff was all friendly and kind we had absolutely no problems whatsoever and would definitely stay here again if we need to passing through.

Had a small fitness center, coffee/mini-fridge in the room, Internet, and an awesome breakfast (pre-packed cereal, milk, fruit, and yogurt). Check-in and out were quick. Right off the highway. A trailer park shared the same entrance, but the only major loud noise was other guests checking in at 3:50 am (which makes sense, people are just passing through). Overall, pleasantly surprised.

Very nice place to stay. Even provided ear plugs to help with the train noise, but we didn't need them because the air conditioning machine provided enough white noise to drown it out. Breakfast was okay given the pandemic and we appreciated there was a juice machine. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

We were told that Barstow was not a great place to stay, but it was halfway to our destination, so we stayed at the BW there. The host just handed us an electronic device to answer all the questions I had already answered on pre-register, told us what time was breakfast and that was it. This BW is the old style motel with a door opening onto the parking lot. We went out to dinner and saw a different hotel with a courtyard and hot breakfast (with vouchers in their restaurant). We will stay there on our return. The next night we stayed at the BW in Santa Clara, CA and the experience was completely different. The host was welcoming and courteous and the room was much better. Covid is not an excuse for minimal courtesy.

World Traveler here: I've been all over these great states of ours, all over Europe, South America, the Desserts of the Sahara. I've purchased rooms in New York and San Francisco, but the Best Western Dessert Villa Inn in Barstow is by far the dirties experience I have ever had at any hotel. Absolutely worst experience ever! And It's not the dusty dessert of the Majestic Mojave, it is the deceitful character of the employees and management that work at this particular establishment. I purchased Thursday to Sunday night at a rate of $271.47 out the door price. I was driving a Classic Car and I called the hotel lobby on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday morning, and Friday to inform them that the car I am driving is a classic car and I might not make it Thursday, but please hold the hotel room. We don't have Air Conditioning in our old 55 Chevrolet Panel Truck, so I didn't mind paying the extra night even if it meant we can just get a half hour of A/C in at the room. When I arrive at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, The hotel clerk says your hotel is ready: The price is now $201.80. So then I'm thinking, "OK, Sweet! They are cutting me a break." I come back home and on Monday check my account. THEY CHARGED ME $201.80 + $90.49. Mind you the $90.49 is for a NO-SHOW. I showed up. I called several times: my wife called for me on Monday, I called with her on Wednesday, and with my brother on Thursday, and with my dad when I was in the truck to leave on Friday morning to inform them that we will be LATE. That I don't mind paying the $271.47. But then get this: Carlos, Hotel Lobby Clerk, sees NO NOTES of any such calls. EVER! I am never doing business with any Best Western ever again: It's a seedy establishment that took more of my money than what was initially agreed upon and then to have the audacity to say they never got a call. NEVER AGAIN. Now do you get what I mean by dirty? I feel like I have been violated.

The outside and location was concerning but room was newly decorated and clean. Pleasant surprise. Security on premises was reassuring since location is right off freeway. I traveled alone and was comfortable. Front clear, was very nice.

I enjoyed my stay very much. The room was extremely clean. No noise. Enjoyed the couch in my room. The refrigerator worked great. Some hotels their refrigerator isn't very cold. Kept my ice frozen until the next morning. Didn't have time for the continental breakfast but next time I will make time. Very clean facility.

When I checked in the clerk was not so nice. Leroy, the night security, made the trip special because he cared enough to not only chase some guys away who were paying too much to my camping equipment in my mini trailer but he went the extra mile to help keep it safe for the night. Another desk clerk was so helpful as well but I didn't get her name. The room was also very lovely.

The handicap room needed some help, interior too dark, also the bathroom needs better lighting, the door needs to be replaced since the patch job on it brings down the quality of the room. The hallways were covered with leaves, not sure if the maintenance crew sweep the hallways. Not keeping these clean, brings down the hotel, I immediately thought this wasn't a 3-star hotel, but a motel instead. Breakfast was not the best, but better than Holiday Inn in Williams who only served muffins and coffee. I was so tired, that I tuned out the train and freeway noise, so didn't need the ear plugs offered.

Our travel agent recommended this property on our Route 66 adventure. As much as I would have liked to rate this property higher I found somethings lacking. First the good: The paint is fairly fresh; mirrors on the closet doors make the room look larger and brighter; sufficient receptacles to recharge everything; looks like new furnishings; complimentary ear plugs (but not needed); and a well lighted parking lot giving us a sense of security. The not so good - poor lighting over the vanity/bathroom sink; and very narrow bathtub/shower that can be a safety issue if you are our age (over 70). We stayed at a number of BW prior to this stop and the breakfast was much more robust with a selection of hot and cold entrees. At this property you were asked to take things back to your room to heat them.

I booked a stay here because it was pet friendly. After checking into my room, I noticed courtesy ear plugs on the night stand. Then a train passed by. It's right across from the tracks and right next to the freeway. I didn't use the ear plugs and to be honest, I really didn't hear the trains or road noise. The location was convenient, and I would recommend for anyone on a road trip.

We found this a good place in all the important ways we look for in a hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms looked to have been recently re-done and were clean and comfortable. There was some traffic noise but it wasn't disturbing. The only negative is that while it is pet friendly there is no good place to take dogs to do their business.

We travel to Las Vegas a few times a year and we haven't ever been dissatisfied. Rooms are very clean and it's close to many eating establishments. The pandemic didn't determine our vacation but we called ahead to make sure they were taking steps for cleaning.

Very comfortable and cozy ! The staff where down right kind ! I needed my room clean , it's like they all pitch and to mar it happen ! Laure was very professional , it's like she went out of her way to make you happy

I stayed in room 138 on 4/1/21. The room as clean, there is noise from interstate but they provide earplugs. I woke up at 5am and as I walked to the bathroom I stepped into water on the floor area where the sink, fridge and microwave are. Immediately woke me up. I turned on the light to fond the ceiling over the area had a large stain, plaster bulging and a small crack with large drops of water steadily dripping on the floor. The outer bathroom area floor was already covered in water and it was spreading into the other room where the tub was. I immediately called the front office to let them know what was going on. They said they would check it out. No one ever came to my room. An hour later as I was finished trying to get dressed I tried calling them again. I called 3 times with no answer so I went to the office. The desk clerk told me that they tried to check a couple of rooms above me but could not access all of them. I showed him the video I took and his response was yea it has happened before someone has cracked the toilet in a room above. No concern that I could not use my room and was checking out at 630 am. Did not get breakfast it was bagged and was told I would have to use the microwave in my room to heat it up. I had no desire to go back and stand in water to use a microwave so I passed on breakfast.

Good hotel though there is train noise. They do provide ear plugs in the room. Covid19 modified breakfast service could be better, the burrito was tasteless and no coffee or juice offered. Room was clean and well stocked with towels, soap, coffee, tea, etc. Customer service was great! Check-in/check-out was fast and easy.

Dirty bar of soap in one shower. All 3 rooms had poorly working air conditioners, low water pressure, and a thin blanket on bed. 2 out of 3 breakfast orders were wrong or missing. The enterance is shared with a trailer park. We witnessed a drug overdose in parking lot 200 feet from our room and a steady stream of bad characters! Overpriced and rude staff.

Friendly staff and clean room. Near train track but they provide ear plugs. It is always clean and always friendly staff. Provide a breakfast during covid (pre-order) which is great. Outside of hotel is always clean.

We stopped here on a road trip out west from Michigan. It was on a busy street with a train track across the street so we expected a noisy night with little sleep. We didn't hear any trains overnight and the traffic didn't keep us awake so we were pleasantly surprised. The attendant was friendly and gave us good advise on local information. The room was clean and we had everything we needed. It was very easy to get right on I-40 to continue our travels in the morning.

Although the hotel was next to a freeway, I didn't notice the noise. The room was very nice and clean. The towel was even folded in the shape of an animal - very sweet. Very friendly check in and check out staff.

We try to stay at Best Westerns whenever we can and the ones in the greater region seem to be well kept. We are very rarely anything less than enamored by our says but our stay at the Best Wester Desert Villa Inn located in February was different. Granted this property was acceptable in pretty much every way except our interaction with a staff member and poor maintenance of one room. The customer service here was not great. The next door room, I imagine was vacant and the fire alarm was beeping every 20 seconds. We made a call to the front desk at 730 pm to see if someone could look into it since it's an older hotel and you can hear everything in between rooms. The desk worker was not exactly helpful on the phone. First “I can't disclose who's next door” which I don't care about I imagine if someone was in that room they would have complained already. Then she told us no housekeeping was available so we would have to deal with it. It's a small hotel so I understand one person is working overnight, but some sort of solution would have been nice not just “drown it out you'll be fine” and a click of the phone hanging up. You pay for a hotel for rest when your away from home and it is unacceptable when something that is well within the control of the hotel is the reason you can't rest. Overall rooms are ok. They are older, but improvements have definitely recently been made. Only bad part is the location is between a train yard and i40 so if road noise/trains running buy don't bother you it is not bad. Best Western has almost always been a great brand to us, but this just wasn't one of the other great experiences we have had.

Loved the location, easy on/off freeway. VERY clean room, cozy bed. Felt safe for being so close to freeway. Pet friendly room didn't smell like pets. Staff was friendly too. Only issue was not having a remote for TV when we checked in after many hours on the road and we had to deal with a half hour of maintenance getting a working remote. He was very very nice but we just wanted to veg in bed and watch TV.

Stopped here on a recommendation. Hope, the manager is wonderful. She made sure that everything we could possibly need was taken care of. The room was spotless, ear plugs were bedside, and our order for breakfast was taken the night before so all we had to do was go and pick it up. Hope is certainly an asset to that hotel. It is not often that you get such pleasant, customer minded individuals at the front desk. Thank you, Hope. We hope to see you again.

I stayed here in Feb 2021. The check in was easy, quick and the front desk girl was so pleasant and kind. My room was very clean and comfortable. Ear plugs were provided in case the passing train noise bothers you. The only downside was the shower. The water never got really hot and the pressure was weak. All in all I would say this is a nice hotel. I felt very comfortable and safe staying here as a solo traveler.

Friendly staff, clean room, warm shower (wish the water pressure was stronger). I like the little products, they seemed a bit fancy. Lotion was good. Regular stay. Nice friendly staff. Like the option for COVID breakfast. Coffee was decent and they had an almond milk option!

Decent clean room. Pet friendly. If you get a room closer to the entrance to the parking lot, there is a lot of noise...booming stereos of cars passing, train running across the road; otherwise we had a quiet room except for the constant mechanical humming from the open bathroom area.

I'll admit it. This was the last night of our 2-week road trip coming into Los Angeles and I was road weary. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a motel so picked this one as it was right off the freeway. Little did I know it was smack dab next to the railroad tracks! When checking in, I had to sign all sorts of waivers including one stating the motel was not responsible for any damage to our car or any items that may be taken from it. What had I gotten us into? We hauled nearly every item in our car up to our room (which is a lot after 2 weeks on the road) and hoped for the best. Settled in and dog tired, we decided to zone out and watch something on the TV. Clicker didn't work; TV didn't work. We pulled out the dresser (quite hesitant to see what was behind that dresser) to find the TV was simply unplugged. Clicker still didn't work. Too tired to complain to the management, just stared at the screen till sleep befell me. We ran the fan in the heat/ac unit under the window so we wouldn't hear the trains going by. Best sleep I had in 2 weeks, I kid you not! However, next time I'll round the bend on Hwy 15, shell out more money, and stay in one of the newer motels on the southwest side of town.

Have stopped here in Barstow numerous times in the past and have always been treated very well. Explained a concern when calling to reconfirm my reservation and Hope did a superlative job in alleviating any further concerns.

We stopped here for overnight stay on our road trip. The room was very clean, the breakfast was decent (as best you can get with COVID restrictions), and the front desk was friendly. Would recommend this place.

Our room was very nicely updated, very clean and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful. Loved being able to back up to our door to unload the car. We have stayed at several BW's on our trip and this one has been a great one. There is a train track very close by but we were not bothered by the sounds. It's also close to several fast food places and a Walmart.

I booked a room for my mom this evening, entered my credit card, and called the hotel to see if they need a credit card authorization form to secure the payment (since I would not physically be with my mom at check in). The phones were done so the property was not reachable. At check in, they refused to call me (but confirmed there was no way for me to call them) and my mom ended up having to pay for the room herself. Worst service ever.

Have stayed in a couple of Best Westerns recently and have been impressed by the quality and good value. First thing we noticed with this one was the excellent bright lighting in the large open parking lot. Cozy and comfortable lobby/reception area with a fire and upholstered chairs and couches. The young man in reception was pleasant and efficient. Free bagged breakfast, and the one at this motel includes a breakfast burrito or egg and sausage croissant plus juice, yogurt and fruit. There's also a more “continental” choice that include cereal instead of a cooked item. As we're in the process of moving from CA to TN, we have a lot of our belongings in the car, so it was great that we could park right outside of our door to offload them for the night for safe keeping. Room obviously recently painted, clean carpet and furniture looked good too. Quiet efficient heater/AC unit in the room, King bed unit also had a love seat and table making it like a mini suite. Nice HDTV, fridge, microwave , iron/board, hair dryer and coffee maker. Bathroom areas were fine too. We stayed here to qualify for an offer, but now that we've stayed in a couple of Best Westerns recently, I will strongly consider them in the future for (so far) consistent quality of room/service and reasonable prices. Yes there are slightly less expensive hotels and motels, however, I've found the quality of those to be very variable at the low-mid price offerings.

Up on arrival, we were greeted by staff in the outdoors, then by the young lady at the front desk. Excellent service in the overall. The room was very neat, clean and well organized. WiFi, everything very nicely set, we Couldn't have asked for any better.

We have stayed here multiple times and always enjoy our stay. We love trains and rockhounding. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are clean. Because of COVID-19 they had grab and go breakfasts which were good. It's also a very convenient location right next to the freeway, gas stations, and food. There are trains that go by but it wasn't an issue. We will be back.

Horrible sound proofing. The trains across the street sound like they are rolling through the hotel. And they roll by at least hourly. You could also hear everyone who pulled in late at night and every word of their conversations as they unloaded their cars. Dirty outside. Plastic and other garbage scattered around outside the room doors. Our door would not lock from the outside. So anytime we went to the car, walked the dog or to the hotel office we could not lock our door. Shower didn't drain well so you were standing in several inches of soap scum by the end of the shower. Low water pressure. On the plus side the bed was decent and the price was cheap. I would not stay here again just due to the noise.

Very nice and clean accommodations. Good Covid-19 safety measures in place. Breakfast was reasonable, not organic or freshly cooked, but was plenty of food. Only downside is, it's near the freeway and the rail yard.

This property is literally 50 feet away from a very busy around-the-clock working freight train line. If you saw the movie "The Blues Brothers" think of this property as Elwood's dumpy room right next to the Elevated Tracks in Chicago which ran ALL NIGHT LONG. The complimentary foam ear plugs were useless when the whole room shook constantly. The room itself was poorly maintained, disgusting ceiling showing signs of prior water damage and lousy patch work. The fitness center was a joke - large cardboard boxes on all the cardio equipment - thus unusable, and the TV didn't work. Do yourself and anyone you are traveling with a favor and find another place to stay in Barstow and check the map to get as far away from the freight line as possible.

Carlos was friendly and was able to accommodate us for an early checkin. Love the easy checkout of dropping key cards in bx. Only issue was the floor in our room was not clean. Socks were dirty walking around the room.

Room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioner was a tad loud but worked well. Plenty of room for two people and two large dog crates. A couple of small areas for dogs to relieve themselves. Would stay here again.

Excellent comfort of beds and very nice restroom. Whenever we come to that area again we will make reservations at this facility. .My room was handicapped and was very, very pleasant. Would love to have had a better breakfast

I was a bit worried when I saw this hotel was next to train tracks, but it was not a problem the night we were there. Nice, clean rooms for a good price. Pet friendly. The pool looked decent but unfortunately it was closed due to the pandemic.

I stayed once before several years ago, had a good experience, same this most recent trip. Maybe before booking this hotel, look at it on a map. It's right across the street from a couple sets of railroad tracks. Barstow is a major freight terminal, so a train passes every five minutes or so. Behind the hotel is I-40. This can cause noise, but my room was very quiet, and earplugs are provided. Trains are audible, but because there are no grade crossings, they do not blow horns near the hotel. Also, the train passing does not shake the property. Door and window closed securely. I don't mind freeway, train or airport noise, so its location was not important to me. It may be to others. Reception was friendly and virus protocols were in place. Desk agent was efficient and I was on my way to my room in just a few minutes. Rooms have been renovated, and they were very clean, especially the bathroom and shower. Bed was comfy, carpets were clean, and I had no issues. I highly recommend it! I paid $84 for a weeknight. Parking was easy, nice big lot. Donut shop and burger place are within walking distance.

Our door didn't seal or sit in frame correctly. Ear plugs provided due to excess highway noise. Refused us plastic bags for the trash cans because it's a pet room. Couldn't tell is where to dump our litter. Stains on the bed sheet.

Located close to both I-15 and I-40. Unfortunately that means occasional traffic noise during the night, in addition to the odd train trundling by. Add to that the noisy in-room air conditioner, humming refrigerator, and creaking from the room above and no wonder I found complimentary ear plugs on the bedside table. The room itself is clean and with all amenities (TV, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, wifi). The king bed was reasonable though I felt the mattress was sagging a little. I later read that Barstow has the highest violent crime rate of all Californian cities. I probably won't stay here again as a result.

We were visiting Mojave Desert and this was a great choice of accommodation for the area. It is alongside the highway so you occasionally hear trucks or trains but otherwise the air conditioner drowns out other noises.

Very nice place. Room looked freshly painted in a soothing pale blue color. Appeared to have new carpet and tile. Bed was comfortable and we felt safe, even though the door opened directly to the outside (great for unloading the car). Nice shutters on the front window, but they were not room darkening and let alot of light in during the night. Nice toiletries. Grab and go breakfast bag with excellent muffin, granola bar, water bottle and fruit cup much appreciated. Decaf coffee packet in the room was probably old in that the resultant brewed coffee wasn't good. Otherwise, we liked the hotel and would stay again. The young man who checked us in was very friendly and we felt welcomed.

We stayed in five or six Best Westerns during our Pacific Coast Highway trip, and in this one heading back to Utah. This one and the one in Oakland surpassed the others in quality. The rooms and lobby were clean, and the staff helpful. The COVID-times breakfast was the best along the way. I doubt many people stop in Barstow, but if you do, I highly recommend this place.

1. If you need to stay in Barstow; This is a solid motel. It's cheap, it's clean and has been updated / modernized, when I was there it was very quiet. What I also really like about BW in general is that check in is at 1400; none of this crazy 1600 check in policy like some of the “higher end” motels. The last thing in this COVID era, this is a nice / clean motel in which you can access your room via the outside; ie no need to walk inside/ go through lobby etc... 2. The only downside (not the fault of BW) is that there are somewhat limited dining options around, but then that's more of a factor related to Barstow.

Wow! I was very impressed with this motel. The Virus protocol was absolutely great: plexiglass dividers, employees with masks, signs on entry doors "masks required", hand sanitizer, clean pen basket/dirty pen basket, employee used sanitizer between customers, rooms are disinfected with an electrostatic sprayer. You cannot get any better. Plus, the lobby and room were very clean and upgraded. Plantation shutters on the window (no blowing curtains). Everything was in working order. We will definitely be back!!!! I give them a 20 out of 10!!!

All the employees we interacted with were super friendly. The room was clean and we liked the louvered shutters on the windows. Due to COVID the breakfast was a to-go bag that included: bottled water, yogurt, prepackaged fruit cup, a mini muffin or two and a granola bar. The motel is near some train tracks but helpfully there were 2 pairs of earplugs on the nightstand and the train sounds did not bother me. There is a McDonalds and a Walmart within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!

After a long hot ride from PHoenix to Barstow via Blythe we decided to park it for the night at the Desert Villa Inn. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, we got our room in short order, processed the paperwork and moved out scooters to the parking area in front of our room. Once inside and unloaded I stopped at the sink to wash my sun burned face only to find the sink full of tiny little bugs, sink only the rest of the room was spotless so... We went back to the office, received a copious spew of apologies and a new room just across the parking lot. This time the room was free of wildlife plus the layout was a bit better than the first room. Check out went smoothly, a bog-o-breakfast was offered however H2O was the only thing we wanted. Thanks for the quick recovery and a better room without any hassles.

We had a reservation for a dependent adult gentleman traveling with two caregivers. We were told by a very surly front desk worker that the Caregivers were not essential workers. I tried to explain otherwise to this ill tempered young woman who doubled down on her position. I informed her that this type of action could result in legal action against Best Western. Suffice to say the call did not end well. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was not available, to call back tomorrow.

Traveling for work from florida like staying at bestwestern properties. The covid19 virus makes the stay a little less enjoyable. I miss the breakfast and fitness center since they are not available. Also kinda hate the fact that the laundry is unavailable. But considering the current situation had a very pleasant stay.

I really enjoyed my stay. Recently remodeled rooms, nicely kept up. I really don't hear the trains, I know there any many, but the building insulation really does absorb the noise. I have not had to use ear plugs at all. Maid makes fabulous towel art!

If you get the chance to stay here take it over any other hotel, You won't be disappointed! The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The room was comfy and spacious. The employees were helpful and polite.We loved the pools and hot tubs.

was a great place to gather, we found this place to be amazingly clean, we enjoyed direct tv, amazing hot showers. was located close to everything we wanted to do on route 66. ten min away from Peggy sues. friendly staff,and we enjoyed the points wheel. that's if you're a bw member.

Great people. Good breakfast. Clean. We had no problem getting a reservation. Pool clean. Room and beds tidy. Parking was accommodating. Quiet and wished we could stay longer but on the go. Beds comfortable. TV had a variety of channels.

Although the train sounded like it was right outside my door I slept like a baby. The Staff was very friendly and the room was nice a clean. I was very satisfied with my visit and will likely stay there again when traveling on our southern route to Utah.

Nice and clean... that what I expect and received from this Best Western. I especially loved the shutters on the windows. What a great idea as it made the room seem larger and now no more dated curtains! Don't know why all hotels don't do this. The only draw back of this hotel might be the r&r track. It is a bit noisy at first but an hour later I barely heard it. Earplugs were provided if you are a light sleeper.

My husband and I stayed here while we visited Calico Ghost Town. It is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. Our room was clean and had all amenities. We were able to use our points, so we had a “free” night, but their room prices are very reasonable. Their free breakfast is pretty standard (across all the BW's we've stayed in), however I feel the hash browns were undercooked and the biscuits were tough, but when free, we really can't complain. We tried the “Just Grill it-Teryaki House” restaurant they recommended, a block down from the hotel, and had a delicious meal. Overall, we had a great visit and were very comfortable in our room. I highly recommend them. Thank you BW!

The Best Western Desert Villa Inn is always welcoming after a day of book research and walking around Calico Ghost Town. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the rooms are always clean and comfortable! The train noise can be a bit much but what do you expect from a rail town. I have stayed here three times and will again when in Barstow!

The ar railroad tracks across the street with trains running all night. Trucks drive in front of the property. The noise is such a problem earplugs are provided in the room. After checking in I discovered the Wi Fi password didn't work. It took awhile to get the connection. Hot water temperature fluctuates from warm to cold while running. Water pressure at the shower is pathetic, it hardly streamed didn't to wet the bather. The TV has very limited channel selection and the cable speed is so slow shows stop until the feed catches up. On the plus side, the room was adequately clean and the bed comfortable. Won't recommend this motel to anyone.

Traveling to Arizona of Southern Nevada we always stay here. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Onlly issue was the number of small pillows on our bed that were like overstuffed throw-pillows. For the value this location can't be beat.

Gross hotel. Rude and aggressive staff. The hotel also flags bad reviews for “violating posting guidelines” to try to get rid of them. Dishonest business with dishonest people running it. Don't stay here, you'll thank me later.

DO NOT STAY HERE - My husband and I had a long flight and were looking forward to resting at our hotel. As we went to check in, we witnessed the most appalling exchange between one of your employees and a young father who was trying to check in. Weeks later, it still gets my goat just thinking about it! He apparently was in town visiting his mother, who had just been put on hospice. He was trying to explain to the clerk that he had requested a crib for his infant daughter but was met with the most rude comments from the clerk that I've ever heard in my entire life, telling him y'all didn't have any cribs, and that she didn't write the description on the website and that he should have been better prepared! To the young man's credit, he remained calm and was clearly exhausted from his situation and was trying to figure out a solution, when she called security on him. She had no sympathy or empathy for his situation and made no attempt to even fake any amount of caring or customer service. Seeing this exchange, my husband and I opted to take our business elsewhere. We did not stay at your hotel. Y'all should be ashamed to have an employee like that! I really hope she isn't still employed there!

Service at Front Desk was good. Regarding Room, my only recommendation is to increase the water pressure. Easy access off of I-15. Liked least: a little expensive for Barstow, CA; water pressure needs improvement.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! The employees are very rude, condescending, and confrontational. All the way up to the General Manager when I called to complain. She called me "hun" and hung up on me. I have never been treated this way by any establishment. I expected when I called to complain that Best Western would take it seriously and be just as offended as I was, but it seems to be a joke to them. The hotel did not have a crib as advertised and requested. My husband arrived and explained to the employee, Laura, that he was at the end of a very long day, he had just traveled a long distance and signed the papers to put his mom into hospice. He asked if he could have a free night since it was advertised - that way he could go buy a travel crib so the baby would have somewhere to sleep. She responded by telling him "IF I WERE YOU I WOULD HAVE PREPARED BETTER." She ended up calling security on him. I know you're probably reading this and thinking 'well the husband was probably yelling and being rude.'..because that would at least make sense for the employee to treat him that way. but he was not. I was on the phone for a portion of this interaction and after dealing with his mom's health issues, he was already beaten down. To add Laura's behavior on top of that, how terrible. I complained to the general manager, Hope Islas, and had to email her twice before she responded. When I finally talked to her, she immediately had an attitude, called me "hun" and hung up on me. I am shocked at how Best Western has handled this and expected much more from them. It is not okay to have a business and treat people this way, or just treat people this way period.

I got the basics of what I needed: a safe, warm, comfortable room to call my own for a night. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was a bit edgy with train tracks on one side, the highway on another, and an empty lot fenced off on yet another side. Breakfast was freshly prepared by helpful and pleasant staff. The night and morning front desk staff were friendly and helpful, as well. There's even a business center (aka computer in the corner attached to a printer) for guest use.

After spending a night in a small dirty motel in Mojave, Best Western in Barstow, CA felt like an oasis of high quality and hospitality standards. All - initial greetings, room, bathroom, breakfast was good! Thank you, BW, keep a good work! You could rely on this chain.

Fully equipped, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, Kleenex, flat screen TV. Open air swimming pool we did not use, right on the freeway but we were in the wing away from the freeway so there was noise but it did not bother us . USA today in lobby, good wi-fi, fully controllable a/c. But of course all plastic glasses and utensils in breakfast and rooms.

..and have never had a bad experience. It's clean, bed made w/o a bedspread which translates as clean bed. The heater/ac unit is a bit noisy but we couldn't hear the trains passing through town so it ends up being background white noise. Barstow is synonyms with trains so it's hard to get around the click clack of wheels against the rails no matter where you stay.

This hotel was the best, Best Western hotel that we stayed at on our cross country trip! The room was excellent and when we walked into the room, there was a towel folded into a puppy dog! Kudos to the Head Housekeeper for making us feel special, and Pearla for the attention to detail. We left her a nice Happy New Year tip! Breakfast had a great selection. The room was perfect, bed was comfy and there was lots of hot water. There was a nice sized fridge and a good microwave. There is also a little gift shop with a good selection of snacks and Route 66 memorabilia. I loved this place.

I recommend to stay on this hotel when you're on the way passing through to take a good rest, The breakfast was very good and the staff is very kind. The room was pretty clean and comfortable. i liked the interior of the room.

I liked this BW, but $15 per pet per night i would have liked at least one dedicated pet area. I had to walk my terriers in rock only flower beds. The room was fine. Updated, but there was only one chair in a two queen room. Logic dictates that at least 2 people would be staying.

Having stayed here before I forgot to make a reservation. Staff was extremely helpful in getting me aa room and welcoming me back. It's the reason I prefer to stay here when I'm in the area. Hotel is kept up rooms are clean and in working condition and the price is not ridiculously over priced. All in all a great place to stay people at the front desk are very helpful kind and always have that how can I help attitude. I recommend staying here if your in the area.

What you would expect from the brand and the price point. Clean, functional amenities, standard breakfast fare. Kind enough to leave ear plugs on the night stand. Proximity to rail yard might make them useful!

We had probably the worst experience we have ever had at a hotel. The beds were terrble, hard as rocks. The floors were filthy. Complained, asked for second night refund and was refused. I would rather sleep in a tent than this dump. A one star because the staff was good.

Nice enough Hotel with easy off and on 2 Interstates. Stayed 1 night and arrived well after dark and the Hotel was easy to find . Friendly staff and the room was clean and tidy so one couldn't ask for much else. Thought the place might be a little noisy with the Trailer Park at the back and a Railroad across the Main Street but had a great nights sleep so pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was good so back on the road.

This hotel was courteous, convenient and helpful. Our pets we're well received and even though I was late to breakfast,Hope, the manager helped me get coffee and offered me bagels, treated me like family. Easy freeway access too.

This was a very nice hotel in Barstow. Check-in was quick and easy as Hannah was very friendly and efficient. The room had a towel folded as an animal on the bed. It was cute. The room had a refrigerator and microwave. There were a lot of channels on the television cable. Breakfast was good and hot with the usual amenities.

As Best Westerns go, this is a very basic Hotel. Entrance is on a blind curve; be ready. The price was average but they do not price match as other B.W.'s do. Breakfast was good. There are no elevators or USB outlets.Trains run a bit too close to be soothing.

Stopped in on a drive back to Colorado. Clerk was refreshingly kind and very helpful which is so nice especially when traveling and so very tired. Room was super clean and warm The beds and pillows were amazing. Earplugs are provided since the train goes by very closely and were appreciated.

I booked an accessible room and found that the toilet was small and too low - obviously not an ADA toilet. Furthermore, the sink front was blocked making it impossible to use the sink. The roll-in shower had a fixed shower head not a wand. Very wheelchair unfriendly which is way out of character for a Best Western hotel.

The hotel is right off the freeway. So very handy. Staff was very helpful (Thanks Patty at the front desk). The room we stayed in was clean and maintained. The only downside was the pool was soooo cold. My husband swims in the Pacific often felt it could be much warmer. We were looking forward to a swim at the end of the day and did not get it!! But, we did get a good nights sleep. So long!!

We had a great stay with an infant our pack and play was broken so he slept with me but other than that from check in to check out everything was wonderful and Hope was so sweet :) breakfast was good.

The front desk people are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was pretty good as well. However, is it a bad sign when instead of leaving mints by your bed, you find ear plugs? This Best Western is across the street from multiple railroad tracks, and there are a LOT of trains that go by that you can feel as well as hear. I decided to use my sleep ap and I can tell by the results that there were at least 8 trains that passed by at night, affecting my sleep. On the other hand, if you are a train lover, this place is for you.

The motel was very easy to find, right off I-15 and I-40. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was nice. Check-in was quick and easy and friendly. I would definitely stay there again. Plenty of parking. The air conditioner/heater worked well and quietly.

Average Best Western; considerable noise from the adjacent highway and freight trains rolling through every half hour or so, but they provide ear plugs in the room. If you are a light sleeper this is probably not the place for you. The rooms we had were clean and roomy; no towel bar in the vanity area which is a bit odd. The breakfast is on par for most Best Westerns; maybe even a cut above. The front desk staff were very good both times we stayed here. Fast food options are close by; but you will have to travel a bit to find restaurant options.

Didn't think Barstow would be this nice. The staff was great my wife had broken her toe earlier in our trip and they found a first floor room so she didn't have to climb stairs. Room was clean and nice.

Just one night here on our ride home. It was very busy, but they honored our room request and Carlos (at front desk) was very friendly and helpful. It's a busy area with train tracks nearby - we requested a room toward the back and it was very quiet. The room was clean and comfortable and we had a much-needed good night's rest. The free breakfast was pretty good, better than average.

We had a great stay. We arrived a bit late due to traveling. We were welcomed right away and set up very fast. The sleep was good with no outside issues. Breakfast was wonderful... Staff was very prompt to make sure everyone was happy and everything was filled up. There was a good selection of items. Great job! Thank you.

Yet another Best Western following the same format of comfortable rooms, nice and clean and with all amenities (except room safe) again staff are friendly and helpful.situated on the edge of town so you do have to travel out to eat. But all in all an enjoyable stay.

We checked into our hotel around 8:00 after flying all day. We were extremely tired and went straight to bed. When we got up the next morning we were going to get our showers. Took the shower curtain down (they had it hung up across the bar on the other side of the tub) moved it back to turn on the water, and GROSS, there was blood splatter on the shower curtain and the tub surround. We got one of the girls (maid) to come look at it. She was disturbed by this and said the room would have to be totally sanitized. Makes me wonder what we slept on. Anyway, we complained at the front desk, and the smart *** did not seem to care. My husband called corporate, since it was on the weekend, they said they would have someone call us. We have still not heard anything from them. Worse customer service ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rely upon BW since I need to make a trip every quarter, and they are spaced perfectly for me (retired, solo female traveler who doesn't care to drive more than 6 hours/day). I can rely upon them for a reasonable price, a pleasant room, nice staff, and all my fairly modest needs met. I particularly liked the fact that the coffee maker was next to the water so I didn't have to think very hard before my first cup of coffee!

While driving we decided to go a little farther.We had passed sevreral cities with many hotels/motels in the $60-70 range.When we got to Barstow this Best Western had a room.Nice place but for $50 more!

Stayed here for one night between Las Vegas and Los Angeles,m. Check in was easy and very quick by a pleasant lady. Room was clean but the A/C was very noisy. The towels were quite old and some were torn. The carpet was dirty when walking barefoot around the room the soles of my feet were filthy. Breakfast was included in the price of the room , cereals , eggs,sausages etc. I would stay here again but would make sure I wore something on my feet.

Good, clean hotel with very friendly staff. Breakfast is OK. The hotel is close to busy roads so some people might find it a bit noisy but it didn't trouble my wife or I. I didn't like the new vinyl floor in the bedroom - I'd much rather have a carpet. If it hadn't been for that I'd have given five stars.

And they put ear plugs by the bed! Not needed. This is a strip ‘hotel' with two long rows of rooms with outside entries. The desk clerk was most pleasant and accommodating. The exterior had been fairly recently been repainted. The rooms were quite typical of a chain hotel with two Queen Beds, a writing desk, an easy chair, microwave and mini-fridge. The room has been upgraded and was both well maintained and modern. The only detractor is the entry from the road. It's on a curve on Main Street so getting across the road can be problematic. We were impressed by the breakfast area. It was a pleasant surprise. As always, we worried that the breakfast area would be cramped and crowded. We needn't have worried. First, their breakfast area was spacious expanding into two rooms with ample tables and space for lots of folks. The breakfast area was staffed by two (or more) nice ladies who seemed genuinely interested in our getting a good breakfast. The breakfast bar was typical of most chain hotel breakfasts. It had the usual fare – sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, waffle maker, minor assortment of pastries, some fruit, coffee and OJ. At chain breakfasts go, it was fine. Not outstanding but fine. What made it better was the nice breakfast area and the kind ladies who staffed the area. Oh, and the noise. There are train tracks just across the road. Wasn't a problem at all. We really couldn't hear the train noise once in our room. And not terrible outside the room.

This was was of the nicer Best Western hotels I have been in. The room was updated with comfortable furniture and a good bed. TV was new and everything was sparkling clean. The rooms seem extra insulated and no noise could be heard from the next rooms our outside despite the hotel being full and next to a busy highway and railroad. The staff was friendly and helpful

A good stop in the Los Angeles - Las Vegas trip, close to a factory outlet and to the city where most restaurant classics can be found. Very convenient hotel featuring all services needed and quiet even if close to the highway

We stayed one night. Had trouble sleeping most of the night. Would not recommend for anyone that has a hard time sleeping with railroad train noise or light pouring in a window. On the plus side they have large flat screen TVs with lots of channels. Water pressure was also problematic. There is an adequate breakfast bar. Checkout was very disorganized.

We stopped here after a long drive from LA and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the facility is. Our room was newly renovated and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and reccomend this Hotel to anyone driving through Barstow.

I love this place. My first time here and it has everything I like. Outside doors so don't have to walk down long stuffy halls to room. Nice sized rooms with adequate lighting. Everything worked well including lil freezer for ice bottles. AC did it's job. Had a great nights sleep and woke to a good hot breakfast and plenty of coffee. Nice place. Good people that seem to enjoy their work. Location is perfect - ez on/off I-40.

This was a very good hotel. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff was nice and there was breakfast included. They also give you earplugs. This is a great place to stop for the night on a road trip.

We stayed here one night while travelling from Flagstaff to Los Angeles. Check in was quick, friendly staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. However the provision of ear plugs was a little worrying because of the closeness of the I 40 and the railway line. However despite hearing traffic and trains neither disturbed our sleep once we were in our room. The thing we found a little disconcerting was that there was a succession of men walking through the car park, scruffily dressed and with dogs. We saw the next morning that they were obviously going to the trailer park at the back of the property. When we returned from having dinner in the evening there was a police car patrolling the car park. The next morning as we were loading our car a very scruffy man came around the undercover area by the doors of the rooms, checking the refuse bins. He wasn't an employee! Breakfast was good and the breakfast ladies very polite. However the location of this motel isn't good.

Although it is an older hotel everything is clean and nice. The complimentary breakfast was a wonderful bonus and it was tasty and a great variety. The room was nice and it had a large fridge and a microwave.

Room was clean, pleasant, had microwave and fridge which was very much appreciated!!! Very pleasant staff and nice breakfast! Biggest drawback was no area to speak of to potty my K9. I found a nice park about 5 minutes away to exercise and potty her. Other than that, very nice!

I am moving back to Tennessee from California with my friend and my cat. I couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The pillows were a little too big/tall and hard so sleep was a bit of a challenge, but all in all a great stay.

Our son LOVES trains so we decided to stay a night in Barstow on our drive into Las Vegas. Admittedly I cannot tell you the last time I stayed at a motel. Our son had never stayed in one and I was very pleasantly surprised with our stay. When we checked in there was very little wait and complimentary fruit water in the lobby. There also appeared to be a small sundries shop as well. We brought our small yorkie so we were staying in a pet room with very nice engineered hardwood floors. Our room was very clean, nicely painted with beautiful plantain shutters, microwave and refrigerator & ample towels. Breakfast was included however it was very crowded in a small room so we opted to hit the local donut shop that was located behind the best western. Overall, very pleasant experience. Thank you, Best Western!

Check in and check out staff super friendly. Staff suggest up stairs level should be quieter. We found the room dark. A bit concerned when we walked into room that earplugs where on the bedside table. This property backs onto the highway and a very busy train line across the road. Kids wanted to swim in pool after a 6hr drive, however they had a look and said the water don't look right. It was a bit foggy? But other people where swim. Emergency didn't. Breakfast was included and had a good selection of hot and cold items. Very effecient staff re stocking.

One of many motels stayed at while driving route 66, clean and tidy, as you would expect from a chain motel, perfectly adequate for a night or two, location is good. rooms are as you would expect from a chain, no frills. breakfast is adequate.

I stayed here one night while driving to Scottsdale. The rooms are clean and the bed was as if you were sleeping on a cloud. The staff was more than happy to help me out and had great selections for dinner possibilities. It was a bit disheartening to see 2 buckets in the lobby collecting the rain. Other than that it was great.

The hotel is old and shows its age. The walk way leading to my room was filthy. The tile grout in the bathroom was dirty. The room was spacious and comfortable. However, the Wi-Fi was unreliable. It seemed as though it was on a timer as it would only work for 30-30 minutes and then, log off. After turning off the PC and waiting 30 minutes, it would work but again, log off after 20-30 minutes. For this reason, would not stay there again.

Cute and cozy place in the cut to stay at, plenty of food places near and around hotel. Great price for stay. Easy check in and out. There is a pool just didn't make it out to use it. Will next trip thou.

This place is located right next to the highway and right across from the train tracks, so there is potential for noise. They provide complimentary ear plugs in each room to address this possibility. I slept well without them. The rooms are clean and have a microwave and small refrigerator. Restaurants are within easy walking distance. The hot breakfast was better than many I've experienced at motels. My only issue was the parking lot is narrow and crowded and we had to park our vehicle and the trailer we were towing.

Our stay in Barstow was just one night and our expectations were in accordance with our budget that often calls for simpler and cheaper accommodations. This was to be a bit of a treat. Sadly this hope was not to be fulfilled. We were tired and planned a short time relaxing and watching tv and early to bed. My family and I watch the evening news broadcast on Public Broadcast System (PBS) nearly every weekday and the companion programs on PNBS weekends. We are skeptical of news that is heavily loaded with political bias, and PBS is as close to objective journalism as we've found. We were acutely disappointed to discover that this Desert Villa Inn has censored this most trusted and popular of the mainstream network news program. PBS is inaccessible at the Desert Villa Inn. After a few years since we last stayed here it is shocking to encounter political bias in the services offered.

Got stuck in Barstow with a broken down RV. Best Western was the absolute best solution to the problem of where to stay. Close enough to ride my bike wherever I needed to but far enough out of the main stream area to feel safe. The staff were wonderful and the room was clean. I would stay here again if I have to be in Barstow again.

My room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, good location for walking to restaurants. I was not bothered by the train and I had a good night sleep. Only negative was the scrambled eggs, they did not taste good.

When I made reservations I requested a ground floor room when I arrived I was told I got the last room available up stairs and at the end of the building lighting was poor and extremely dark at 0500 hot water was non existant in the last room and water pressure was weak at best

Booked this hotel on hotels.com, unfortunately 20 minutes after booking a wheel bearing went out on the trailer I was towing. Promptly called hotels.com but Best Western Desert Villa Inn would not provide refund or even a partial refund for the room. It's one thing to not offer refund if I had booked this hours or days ahead of time, but to not make an exception literally 20 minutes later? That's just bad customer care no matter what the 'policy' states.

Room was nice , I love that they have internal shutters on the windows rather than drapes! They really keep the heat out! AC worked fine and had an on setting , the only things that annoyed me was that the guest laundry didn't open until 8 AM , also , no coffee available before breakfast at 6 AM - Also room we had had at best warm water , no matter how long you let it run , might need a new water heater! Desk lady did get us a couple cups of coffee from the breakfast area , but most hotels have it out for free access for those of us who get up early!

There are plenty of choices from a hot breakfast (eggs, sausage, waffles) to a cold breakfast (yogurt, cereal). Beverages included juices that weren't watered down like so many of motels.There was ample seating if you choose to eat there or take it back to your room.

Train your staff on how to handle problems at the hotel and respect your guests. Problem: We were first guests to report NO hot water around 5pm. Front desk was to keep us informed on correcting this problem. I had to call several times to find out NO progress. Never was informed of fix. Seemed hot water was back on around 5am. Which did us no good. Front desk person Yajaira is a very RUDE person and getting rid of her would be too nice. She disturbed us before checkout and rudely asked "Are you going to checkout?" We had night before permission to checkout 1 hour late. Then at checkout Yajaira's response to our inquiry on whether we would be comped anything for the lack of hot water was " Others have asked and I told them, our owners never comp anything.. ever. You can call the GM there is her card, call her." I asked her her name and she said "you can report me if you want but I do breakfast here and everyone loves me so go ahead." I noticed that other guests who checked in were not informed of NO hot water. General Manager should have been on-site to handle the guests during problems not incompetent workers.

We stayed at Barstow lovely little town with great amenities. Very pleased the hotel with very friendly staff. We parked the car right outside our room door which was very handy for getting our suitcases from the car

We had a one night stay as we were traveling through Barstow. Our room was clean and the staff was friendly. There is a busy railway near the hotel so you may want to bring a white noise machine to drown out the sounds from the trains all through the night. In the morning, I went in to shower. You have to let the hot water run for several minutes before you actually get hot water. While the water was running I noticed a slight naphthalene smell. I had been holding my hand under the running water to check the temperature, and when I pulled my hand back, it had a sticky feel to it. I don't know what is in their water, but I personally wouldn't drink it.

This room was clean and had all the necessities but it felt old.The accessible bathroom had a tub which was a challenge. Previous writers mentioned the train but we did not find it a problem. There were ear plugs in the room. Breakfast choices good. Staff friendly and helpful.

Right off the freeway. Found ear plugs on the side table. Did not use, didn't need to use. No elevator. Access is not for physical handicap. Great breakfast. Nice rooms. Bed felt new. We would stay here again.

No reservations but got in to a very nice room. Price was reasonable and we did partake in the breakfast which was very good. Would stay again if in the area. Worth the stop. Close to several places to eat and on Historic Route 66.

One of the best well kept older motels I have ever stayed in. Breakfast was great many options to pick from. I stayed here a little over a year ago. They made many upgrades and was told there more coming.

Hotel is very nice, but for a handicap person, the rooms need to be made more accessible. They need to make sure there is enough room to manuver and the shower needs to have a detachable hose. The breakfast was OK, but not great.

We stayed at this Best Western in the middle of our road trip. We've booked the largest room. It was an end unit. Still a bit noisy with the traffic, and the bed was soft. Drawers in the room didn't work. It was ok and very basic. In the morning, the sunlight would come in through the door and windows. The breakfast staff was wonderful and very nice, which was great.

I thought the ear plugs on the night stand were left by someone on accident, they were not, the hotel provides them because there is a railroad track immediately across the street, and trains run very regularly 24/7/365. There is a Best Western Plus on the other side of town which appears to be a much newer place and better location, pretty sure this location is getting reviews meant for the other one. This is an older hotel, it is obvious from the outside. The rooms are dated, but clean and the bed was comfortable. There was very little temperature control with the water, either scalding hot or cold, very hard to get a balance. Also room temp control was difficult, it was actually too warm for me, but turning down the dial did little to bring the temp down. Getting in/out can be difficult because the entrance is right on an intersection that includes the on-ramp to I-40. The folks were friendly and the continental breakfast was typical. My suggestion would be to stay in one of the better/newer hotels about 5 miles away, on the other side of town, near the outlet stores.

It fits Barstow but is not up to Best Western standards. Poorly located next to rail lines, which are very busy. Exterior needs some TLC. Room was more modern, clean and comfortable. Desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff were cheery and helpful.

The Barstow BW offers good value for your money compared to other BW locations. The hotel is well kept and the rooms are always clean. The breakfast is your standard fare, omelets, sausage, potato's, toast, waffles etc.

Nice Hotel near everything you need. The hotel staff are very attentive. Breakfast was great and always fresh. Always had parking even when the hotel was full. Food is just to the left of the hotel. To the right is a Walmart.

Just stayed for the night but everything was great. Would stay again if travel took me through Barstow again. It was nice to have a fridge and micro wave in the room. We brought our dinner and heated it up in the room. That saved us a few dollars.

Good place to stay, and pet friendly too.The staff was extremely helpful and congenial. The room that we stayed in was pet friendly, with hardwood floor (look) tile, fridge and microwave. We were greeted by pigs (sculpted towels) in our room , and there was even ear plugs for us too, but we didn't need them.

We stayed here to and from our trip from California to the Grand Canyon. It's a convenient location. The motel is no frills but clean, functional and moderately priced. Gets 5 stars because of honesty, integrity and helpfulness. I had not realized I had left my camera in the room but got a call from the motel after we got home to say a camera was found in the room we stayed in. It had my 200 photos from a family Christmas at the Grand Canyon. I was very happy to get it back. I will stay here again if the situation arises.

Decent rooms with comfortable bed. As usual for budget accommodations, the heating/cooling is quite noisy so not possible to use at night. The breakfast had much more variety / choice than expected. Check in / out was easy; friendly staff and decent wifi.

Our stay in Barstow BW was short but very pleasant. Loved the convenience of parking outside your room when you have a big dog (not easy to find places that take big dogs) and lots to unload. Great decor, clean and large variety of a hot breakfast in the morning. Very pleasant indeed.

My son and I had been traveling from Colorado Springs Co. We were tired and ready to stop at the nearest lodging. Luckily for us it was the Best Western Desert Villa Inn. We did not have a reservation and were lucky they had a room available. Room was clean and did not smell. There was plenty of hot water. The beds were comfortable. The only downside was there was a train that would come by a time or two.

This hotel property is quite near the railroad tracks and it is almost impossible to not hear the trains. It's not an especially nice part of town either, but we had no issues. That being said, the trains did not bother us exceptionally, maybe because we were quite tired and it was good to stop for the night.This was a clean, comfortable no-fuss room that had not been updated and we always enjoy the BW breakfasts. There are outside stairs and corridors and no elevator. Parking is in front of your room.

Hands down the best place to stay for customer service,. The hotel has been recently upgraded and is spotless, you can tell the pride the staff has in each and every department from the rooms through to the breakfast room, front desk services as well as the exterior .

We were looking for an overnight stay on the way to Vegas. Great little Hotel and good price. Not too flash but very comfortable and quite. It has a laundry as well to catch up on some washing. No restaurant but they do have breakfast in the morning. Would stay here again

Good check in with friendly staff. Room smelled of disinfectant when we entered, would prefer a neutral smell. We were provided ear plugs because of the proximity to trains and highways. Nice gesture, but we didn't need them. A little concerned about all the people hanging out in the parking lot. Breakfast was a normal Best Western breakfast. We would stay here again.

Hotel is literally right off the Hwy 40. Of course one may think that this is going to be noisy area traffic and the railroad is not too far away (not right next door but you do notice the train tracks as you drive into town). That being said, I was not disturbed in any way buy any ambient noise and funny enough there were packets of disposable ear plugs in the nightstand for those who may be more sensitive to noise.It was a much cooler night than I expected when I arrived. The ladies at the front desk were kind and when I asked for a couple of restaurant suggestions, they were great and offered several local, popular places. The room was comfortable and warm. The beds were a little softer than I usually care for but I slept well and was rested the next morning for the rest of my road trip. I had no issues with hot water for a shower and the coffee pot was a welcome find. My stay wasn't glamorous but was instead comfortable and cozy and safe (traveling solo you look for stuff like this). I took advantage of the express checkout and left at my leisure the next morning. If I travel through the area again and know I will need a spot to stay the night or a couple of nights, I will more than likely book this hotel.

It's a very basic hotel. No frills. The beds are not great. The sheets are rough and scratchy. The water pressure was pretty bad. Rooms felt safe though. Breakfast was pretty good. I would give it a 2 star review, except for a super friendly, helpful front desk clerk, Patty. The most important thing to know is this: it is very loud. There is some noise from the parking lot, BUT the real noise come from the train tracks near by. They seem to run all night, and pick up a lot in the morning. Woke me up early. They put earplugs on the bedside to try to help, but they're the cheap kind of foam and don't work well. I had my noise maker on loud on my cell phone. Worked until early morning. Just beware. They don't tell you about this when you book.

Very nice breakfast, appreciated the earplugs but did not need them. Convenient stop between Sequoia-National-Park and Hoover Dam. Very friendly staff. Easy access from highway, and plenty of parking . .

We stayed here in Barstow as an overnight stop over to Las Vegas on our roadtrip, for a 2/3 star I was pleasantly surprised, from the amazing view of the desert among the main road and the cleanliness and facilities. The car park is free, you can park right outside of your room which was obviously good for keeping an eye on the car but I felt safe. The breakfast was one of the best we had considering it was free! tip: Do check out the outlets just down the road in Barstow, they were amazing!!!! so many discounts :) it's unlikely that I will ever be in the area again but if we ever do come back I would stay here.

Pleasant staff at check in, clean rooms and pet friendly. First night of a 2400 mile trip and first time traveling with the cat! Reasonable price for a clean pet friendly room. Decent choices at breakfast.

Excellent property; first-class breakfast. Nice room and helpful staff. The location just off I-40 and not far from I-15 made for ease of access to the Best Western. We were extremely satisfied with the overall experience there.

The overall stay at the best Western and Barstow was a four out of five stars. The only complaint that I had were the other guests and the noise they were making. The room was very clean and the Decour was updated. I was suggest this place to anyone traveling in the area.

Wonderful room; clean, large and comfortable. When in the area I recommend you stop and stay over.Great staff, welcoming and friendly.We will definitely be staying here again in the future when in the area.

This is a busy place. Tourists, contractors on assignment. Freight train is across street; motel offers earplugs. The doggie room smells doggie. It's dingy. Food delivery is full of indigestion if you can stomach it. Breakfast comes with the freight and is enough to get you to I-15. I did sleep.

This place was motel equivalent of getting stabbed in the leg. Painful, but it probably wont kill you. The motel shares real eastate (and a pool) with a trailer park. Avoid this place if you can. If you can't, tape phone books to yourself.

Stayed here to break up the trip from Bass Lake to Las Vegas as we have small kids and try to limit huge drives. What a great find for the price. We washed all our clothes in the Guest Laundry and swam in the pool(very clean). Air conditioning works great which is good because it was 110f outside. Even a full breakfast in the morning including eggs etc and waffles. Definitely would stay here again. Also very close to Walmart for anything you may need.

As usual Best Western came thru with excellent room and service. Staff was friendly and cheerful, room clean and comfortable, breakfast presentation was good and well stocked. It was a great last night of a 19 day road trips

My fiancé and I stayed here on the first leg of our cross country trip. The room we had was clean and modern, the floor was not carpeted which with our two cats we prefer. They did provide ear plugs but as two city people we heard nothing there we are used to noise. I did however find the ear plugs helpful to block out my fiancé's snoring so they are good ones. The tv worked well and the AC was strong and nice. There's a fridge and microwave and room for a moving van with tow to park. The breakfast is included and it's a full one not continental, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, oatmeal, and yogurt with toppings, bagels, and pastries and juices. The staff is friendly. The pool is closed but we did not look to use it so we did not mind just fyi . We would stay again.

Granted Barstow does not have many choice, but after staying there 2 times within a week, i would not use them again. the first night was OK despite hauling all the luggage upstairs, the pool are is shared with the mobile home park, at least the A.C. was good .The other visit , not so good.as noted by someone else we found a strange bug in our room, at least they let us switch rooms with no hassle, too bad the A.C. did not work well

Room had strange bugs in the sink/bathroom area. Informed the front desk and she just smiled. She knew about them, asked her what they were and she said they didn't know. Apparently they do have a bug guy visit on a regular basis. If I'm in the area in the future I will just visit and go on my way down the road.

We arrived here very late and went to do our check in, the receptionist was very helpful and nice she indicated us to our room and when we arrived we where very pleased with the space and the beds are very comfortable, the tv works great, we have a fridge a microwave and a coffee machine, in the morning we got the included breakfast buffet which was great, we are very pleases with our stay here ??

Stayed here for two nights on the last leg of our Route 66 adventure. It ticked all the boxes - clean room, comfy bed and pillows and an adequate breakfast. Close by are shops, food and alcohol. Would recommend to all.

Room was clean and the cleaning staff did an amazing job in the bathroom and we especially loved the extra touches or origami towels! Comfy! They provide earplugs for the high traffic area and we did have to use them. Would stay here anytime!! Thank you

This was an overnight stop on a multi-day road trip. The location was clean, our room particularly spacious, and the staff was super friendly and helpful especially considering we arrived super late! The bonus was the adorable towel animals all throughout room. Very fun personal touch. Honestly the only two downsides are proximity to a train track (however they do provide sets of earplugs on the nightstand and it really didn't bother us much at all) and there seemed to be only one ice machine at reception (which if you were on the complete opposite end of the property which we were - was a tad inconvenient). Price was right for the experience. Would totally stay here again if needed.

This is a pleasant hotel for a stop over mid-way between Las vegas and Los Angeles. Hotel is sandwiched between an interstate and a railway busy railway track, but they do supply ear-plugs. You may need them, depends how good a sleeper you are. We personaly prefer to book a room near to pool on the lobby side of the hotel as that dampens to the traffic noise and also is furthest away from the railtrack. But overall it is not too bad and value for money with the hot breakfast>

I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! This place was super clean, beds and pillows were nice, breakfast was more than what I expected. Parking, check in and check out was super easy, and I appreciated there being multiple options--mobile, TV, and in person.

The only downside to this hotel was that it was close to a major road and so there was significant road noise. We did find ear plugs in the room which helped us sleep well. Overall a very comfortable room, beds and breakfast was very adequate.

Soooo, I figured the area was a little tougher and I was right. I had homeless around everyday and I was almost 100% sure I heard gunshots one night. I know these aren't things in Best West's control but I just didn't want to be around it. The room was ok, the breakfast was the usual but a little less than normal, and the facilities were older. I would t stay here, there are better options.

We stayed the night in Barstow and had a god stay.The people were very friendly and gave us suggestions on god dinning and they were right . Went to a Mexican resteraunt and had a great meal . The room was quite and everything was very accommodating . Only issue which seems to be common was air was noisy . We would still recommend staying here .

We had been here before and knew what to expect, but I will say it was better this time than last. The breakfast was better than last time and the room we got this time was recently renovated and very nice! And the front desk girl was FANTASTIC! Good parking in front of the room. I did notice the train noise this time, not to be bothered by it. I lived near tracks, the rumble doesn't matter, its the horn that blows! There are no crossings here, you just hear the rumble. I did noticed it more this time in the front of the Hotel, if your sensitive to noise ask for a room in the back. Definitely would return to stay if back in Barstow.

Was very pleased with the convenient location where we could park in front of room. Good breakfast selection, easy access to interstate, nostalgically located on Route 66, would recommend location to anyone traveling.

We were in town to see Joshua Tree National Park, and the Mojave. This motel served its purpose. Simple, clean, located right off of the highway, and close to many restaurants, grocery store, gas stations, etc. Being so close to the highway (and trains) I can see how noise could be an issue for light sleepers. While the accommodations were what we expected, I must say that the service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, which was greatly appreciated.

We have stayed at this property many times and love it for its friendly, efficient staff, great BW amenities, and good location (easy freeway egress/access, good variety of eateries within walking distance), but may not be staying here again. The horizontal blinds installed in place of curtains during a recent (well, since last October) renovation let in enough light from the brightly lit parking lot to allow me to read in bed at midnight (not that I wanted to) with the blinds as closed as they would go. Before making another booking, I'll be checking on the state of the window treatments.

This by far is the best hotel to stay at during your visit to Barstow. The staff is wonderful, the breakfast is by far the best that any other hotel offers. I will stay here every time I am in town. The rooms are comfortable, clean and have everything you could possibly need. I especially love the way they make the towels look like animals. I know its not anything special, but a hotel that would go out of its way to do something like this shows how committed to excellent service and an enjoyable stay for it patrons to stay.

We arrived here early evening and were greeted by the lovely Tina, who made us Brits very welcome and recommended a fabulous local Italian restaurant. Sadly the room wasn't as great as Tina. It was lovely and clean and well appointed but the noise from the rail road and I40 was unbearable, to the degree that the room had a set of ear plugs in it!! I also noticed a number of residents from the adjoining trailer park, eyeing up our rental car during the course of the evening which wasn't that pleasant. Breakfast was ok and the coffee good, but I won't be returning.

Nice hotel. Staff very helpful. Relatively quiet despite train tracks and main street nearby. Newly redecorated room was clean and attractive. Complimentary breakfast was decent but work stations/items need to be reorganized -- 15 people crowding into a small corner trying to access one toaster and everything else nearby doesn't work! My biggest complaint: Advertises as a pet friendly hotel. However the dog area was a narrow strip behind the hotel with a broken entry gate dangling from one hinge, and littered with glass, rusty nails, garbage and human feces/toilet paper. Ugh. Clearly unsafe for dogs or their owners. I would probably stay again, but not when traveling with a pet.

I was tired of driving and stopped at BW Desert Villa Inn. This was my first time at this property. I was very happy with my stay. The room was very nice and clean. It was quite even though it was near the freeway. Good breakfast. Nice people working here.

It was a great STOP on our way to Arizona. It was close to I-40, restaurants and the Barstow outlets. We had a very comfortable stay and all of the staff were very friendly and vert helpfully. The breakfast was very good.

The hotel is being upgraded with new carpet, beds, etc. It was quiet and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and that is so important when you've never been to the area. It is not the Ritz but it served us well for the location and price.

All that I wanted was a nights sleep - if you're a light sleeper good luck getting any sleep at this location. Trains ran all night sometime 3-4 in less than five minutes. I had no idea that this was such a busy location for trains. No fault of the motels but, not a good place to get a good nights sleep.

This hotel has great people, a desk person named Misty is one of the best hotel service persons I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Good hotel, large, clean and well maintained rooms with all the necessities, very good bed, great night sleep. This hotel is right off I40, and next to a railroad track, but I didn't hear noise from either, though this is the first hotel I have stayed in that there were ear plugs in the room.?? The breakfast is complete, something for everyone. Interesting, a mobile home park shares the same driveways as the hotel.

We like the location, service, amenities of this hotel. We stop there on the way east or west between the W Coast and No. AZ. It's the perfect distance and comfy and they have a great restaurant discount we enjoy using.

Typical Best Western. . very clean, very comfortable. The trains across the street were not a bother and fun to watch. Breakfast was very good and a good selection. My only complaint is the lady two doors down, out on the balcony talking very loud on her cell phone for an hour and smoking. I can appreciate the rooms being smoke free, but it just came in our room as we were going in and out. The residents at the mobile park in the back love to drive in and out all night as well.

Personally my favorite place to stay in Barstow, CA and highly recommend to everyone. Very friendly and helpful service. The rooms are always exceptionally clean and comfortable. My favorite is the breakfast which is also exceptional. By for the best breakfast I've had at a hotel.

This hotel is right next to the freeway. They leave you a set of earplugs on the nightstand so that is your first hint about the noise. No elevator so we chose a ground floor room. I was awakened at 5:21 AM by two guys talking loudly right outside our window. They sounded like they were standing right next to my bed. Not the best way to start your day with a 500 mile drive ahead of you. Not the hotels fault. That repugnant award goes to those two guys that thought that since they were up at 5 AM everyone else should be too. The breakfast room was very warm but had good choices. Biscuits & gravy,link sausages, eggs, fruits, cereals, muffins etc.

I don't mind train noise, so the review has a bias (or lack of) toward that aspect. There are four sets of tracks across the street from the hotel, and since Barstow is a major freight switching point, a train passes by about every five minutes. Most aren't roaring by, and they don't sound their horns due to no grade crossings, so it's noticeable but not outrageous. Also, the I-40 is right behind the place, but freeway noise wasn't bad t all. The hotel is clean, and I encountered no problems. The door and windows all locked, room was very clean (including the bathroom, which is often the most problematic location). Bed was comfy, and I did not use wi-fi. The check-in staff was outstanding, very friendly and efficient. I booked a room online, and you know the box where you can enter your comments or make a request? Ever wonder if personnel read these? At BW they apparently do! They commented on my request and accommodated it. That's why this location received 5 out of 5. Parking was ample, and I would recommend it for motorcycle riders, as one can park their bike right in front of their room if they requested, I'm sure. I recommend this BW if a desert sojourn results in one seeking lodging! Stop by the Route 66 and Western Railway Museum, and if you're hungry, can't beat Frosty's Donuts just west of the hotel for coffee (open at 4:30 am!), or a burger at Tom's, just down the street.

This place is nice, clean and, guess services is great. The only draw back is, the railroad No horns, just the rumbling sound and some shaking due to the weight. But this hotel does provide earplugs. I do suggest this hotel.

This is a basic BW with pretty average amenities. Yes, there are trains and cars close by, but the noise wasn't bad. You can hear the freeways and trains all over town. After all, it's Barstow. Ok beds, good WiFi. Good breakfast. Really nice and helpful staff.

We stayed in a no pet, no smoking room and it was great. Showers were amazing and beds were comfortable. Other reviews complained about traffic noise and train noise we heard nothing of it while we were sleeping. We stayed close to the breakfast room and didn't even hear that foot traffic. Parking lot is well lit at night. There is a trailer park at the end of the hotel but didn't bother us at all. Hotel checkin staff Patty Cake was very sweet took the time to explain reward program and look up my old number. Cute little route66 gift shop inside. Breakfast was amazing! Biscuits and gravy with some amazing eggs!! Kitchen staff is so sweet saw us waiting for a waffle and offered to make it for us so the rest of the family could start eating! I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located on a busy highway and by the rail tracks. It also has a mobile home park at the end of the parking lot. Quite a few construction works with large trucks. Looked like more of a work camp that an area for families.

The rooms were not clean and smelled of pet urine. AC did not cool the room and was loud. Window did not lock. We would not recommend staying in this hotel. However, if you can make it through the night there was some effort put into breakfast service.

We stayed here overnight on our way back from Death Valley National Park. Front desk staff were excellent in taking our reservation and making sure we had what we needed. Rooms were comfortable, motel was easy to get to, complimentary breakfast was excellent.

Stay on the Historic Route 66. A nice hotel with a nostalgic feel. Good value and pet friendly. We have stayed here several times and always a good value. Many historic sites close by. They want me to use more charaters but that's all I have to say.

A perfect place for us to stop between California and AZ. Use to bring our pet, but since she passed away we still enjoy staying here. Great breakfast with many choices. Excellent staff. Always friendly. Very comfy beds. Clean bathrooms.

Good beds clean rooms breakfast was usual selection. Pancake machine rather than waffle maker. Fun to watch but we're die hard waffle fans! I slept thru the trains but my hubby didn't. We've stayed here before and will stay here again

We stayed at the Desert Villa Inn in Barsto, CA on our trip back to Phoenix from Vancouver, BC. The hotel is older but well kept, the room was clean and all amenity's worked as they should. The internet seemed to work well and the hot breakfast was offered on time and well prepared. I would not hesitate to stay at the Desert Villa again.

they were full so we had to pay the charge for a suite which was not much more than a love seat and bar sink. The door froze so an employee had to use a blow torch to let us back in after breakfast (we were not gone more than 1/2 hour) the staff were nice and gave good ideas for dining.

Great jumping off point for rock hounding and training fanatics. Rainbow basin is a must see. It is awe inspiring. Had a great time, as always. Breakfast was good. Will definitely be coming back again to Barstow.

This motel is right on Historic Route 66 and just off Highway I15 and I40. It is a great location for the downtown Barstow historic area and close to restaurants and shops. The rooms are very nice and there are electrical plug ins on the desktop and nightstands so you can charge everything without crawling underneath the desk or ?? Free breakfast is also good for it hot items and other breakfast items. Nice pool and great parking. The trains run nearby but I didn't hear them but they are there. Friendly staff and very clean rooms. I would stay here again.

This hotel came with free parking and breakfast. Service staff was polite. It was a pity we were just there for one day only. The room was clean and comfortable. Will recommend a stay if you are to drive up to Las Vegas.

Plesant nothing really displeasing felt safe as a female alone bed linens and pillows could have been better worn towels were clean but dingy and ruff staff was great liked having my car in front of my room could have had more delivary meal options and better linens and towels but clean and safe and plesant

We stay here anytime we are on a trip. Always greeted with smiles and rooms are always clean and comfy. Have never had a bad stay.This place is right off the freeway and also the onramp back on the next day. Food choice are close to Hotel as is the Walmart. Nice to have a Hotel close to things.

the staff was great cking in and help us to connect our wifi will be back to this hotel when i have to go to Barstow everything is close by from this hotel :) there was only one thing they changes is the Pillows they were to hard to sleep !!!!!

I did enjoy the great customer service at front desk, not so much during breakfast, only 1 lady was nice. No Jacuzzi, to cold for pool. Rooms seem to have plumbing problem, maintenance left dirty smelly towels we used to clean the mess and when asked if they will take them, they replied "no that is house keeping job". Front desk was not happy when I told them they did not take dirty towels..

100 per night? I would not pay 35!!! Keep driving find a better place. The place smelled of flies keep coming....we killed 3 that night. I know there are not many options, but this place is bad! Plus the gas prices are out of this world.

Stayed at this BW in Barstow on Nov 13 2017. The lights flickered (like the Bates Motel) and 1/2 the TV channels didn't work. the room smelled and had leftover earplugs on the night stand when we arrived and the bed look like someone had taken a nap on it. Save yourself and find another property, at these rates you should have little problem getting a better quality room.

I stayed in this hotel over night for a visit to Barstow. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. The hotel is near the freeway and train tracks. I had no noise problems, slept well. The staff was friendly and professional.

This was the smallest and poorest quality room we have ever had in a Best Western motel. The tile was off the wall in the bathroom and flies were in the room. It was extremely over priced. I have had better rooms at half the price. The location is poor for entering the traffic pattern.

Very clean, friendly staff, plenty of parking, and a great price. Breakfast was excellent, was offered until 9:30am. Very convenient location, next to all kinds of places to eat. Very easy access off the freeway.

This is an important location for anyone traveling from Silicon Valley to any mid-continental state. We've stopped here several times over the past years. The next real place to stop would be an additional 2-3 hours--just too far! It's near the railway and trains are constantly passing by, but ear-plugs are available. Breakfast could be better, but the beds are comfortable.

Room was clean and well maintained. Very close to freeway access but still quiet. Staff was very polite and helpful. Breakfast was fine, about what you would expect, definitely a plus. A great place for the traveler. I will stay again.

Despite a few less than enthusiastic reviews we stayed at the Best WesternDesert Villa Inn. We were not disappointed. From the moment of arrival and check in to the time we checked out the service was exemplary. The room was clean and comfortable the bed super comfortable. The pool looked inviting but lack of time meant we were not able to use it. Breakfast was very good the breakfast room clean and functional. We would strongly recommend and will definitely stay again.

The facility was clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff was wonderful and helpful! They told us about several things to see and do while there, including dining. We would stay at this facility again when in the area!!

Easy-on, easy-off freeway access, but you don't hear the freeway at all. This is a BW of choice on a certain itinerary we take twice a year. Could do without the Fox News Channel at breakfast, but you can't please all the people all the time.

Room furniture was very poor as the sofa is a recipe for disaster and is a safety problem. The bed was very uncomfortable and a humming fridge meant a very long sleepless night. The entrance is also an accident waiting to happen especially on leaving the premises.

We were in town for a family reunion. This is the hotel that we had a block of rooms reserved for. Now we have stayed at several hotels in Barstow. Even staying out in Lenwood for a decent hotel. BUT this hotel was the best by far. Very clean & modern rooms. Any breakfast that has hard boiled eggs is my new favorite. The gentleman that checked us in was great. Very polite & very accommodating. I didn't catch his name But I did interact with him over the phone several times. Somebody needs to give him a raise. He is great. Keep up the good work & that you for a great stay.

As stated, it should NOT be advertised in the COUPON book as it was not available BOTH times we tried to use it. There was nothing special going on in town - just was told that the coupon in the book could not be used - on the start of our trip and when we tried to use it - on our return going back to our home. The room was good BUT it would have been better received if we could have used the coupon that was current, in the book. We felt that this advertising was used, to get us to come to the motel, but to get turned down, both times, was not too easy on our trip. We feel this is bad advertising and does not set well with us. It leaves a "bad taste" with our opinion of Best Western.

I would give this place negative stars if I could. Whatever you do, don't stay at this Best Western in Barstow. Come to think of it, just don't stay in Barstow at all. Get gas, get some In&Out, and get the hell out of that town. This Best Western was absolutely disgusting. Our room reeked of urine, and the bed sheets felt damp. I never even took my socks off, because the floor seemed particularly odious. Nor did I shower while staying there, because I didn't have shower shoes, and it seemed likely that the tub was similarly teeming with bacteria. Used coffee and creamer packets had been tucked back in with unused ones, and the trashcans had not been emptied. Our door hung crazily, crookedly in its frame, looking as though it had been kicked in at some point, which is likely given the neighborhood. The air conditioner sputtered and poured sour air into the room, but at least it helped to counter the noxious urine fumes wafting up from the carpet. All of the towels were dingy and yellow, as were the sheets and pillow cases. It would seem that no amount of industrial strength, hotel-grade bleach could clean the accumulated filth from the linens. We had just driven for 13 hours and had I been the slightest bit less exhausted I would have insisted on another room, but we were desperate for rest and had no confidence that another room would be any better. I awoke at 3:30 in the morning to the air conditioner clanking and couldn't go back to sleep, which is just as well since I couldn't stand to be in that room any longer. Whatever you do, don't believe the pictures you see or any reviews above 2 stars. This place is a dump, and there's little short of a complete overhaul that will change that.

Great value. Nice room. Clean. Hotel staff courteous and helpful. Breakfast was well presented and there was good variety and the food was of good quality. Facility has a pool but it was not heated so was to cold.

We just spent one night at this property. Everything was excellent and I would give it 5 stars. Regarding train noise that I read about in other reviews, just ask for a room in the back and noise will not be a problem. Location was close to the freeway and restaurants.

It was not up-dated. Biggest issue, it is nestled between I40 and a railroad track. For light sleepers probably not the best place. It is a bargain in terms of price and it was clean. Clean is important to me.

Headed to Palm Springs and having driven all day I was happy to find The Best Western in Barstow. We could have driven the extra couple of hours but it was late in the day and rest was what we needed! Nice facilities good room pool not heated so did not use that but quiet and comfortable bed which is what you need. Breakfast in morning was good and coffee hot and plentiful! Right off highway and easy access back on in morning.

The check in staff were so friendly and nice. We received a list of restaurants from them and directions to location of interest. The room was very clean. The room included a sitting area to watch tv.

My husband and I arrived to our room around 1am on 09/28/17 from San Diego (on our way to Vegas) and we were NOT notified at the time of check-in that work would be in progress early in the morning on the roof right above our room and in the room next door. We woke up startled by workers walking on the roof and the use of the electrical tools that were being used. since we were on vacation, we were hoping to have been able to sleep in and leave at check out time. Instead we left 2 hours earlier so that we we would not have to continue to hear the noise. In the future it would be nice for guests to be aware of any work that will performed so that sleep is not interrupted by noise.

Clean room. With ear plugs on the night stand, you know they are concerned with train noise (from the nearby tracks) & I-40. Though, noise was not too bad. We had to have them replace dirty towels, which front desk did promptly. Dog friendly (a lot of guests had dogs). Nice place to stop on a trip to somewhere else.
