This motel definitely surprised me. Front desk staff was phenomenal, property and rooms very clean, the jacuzzi was amazing with lots of room actually bigger than any other motel I have stayed at. There was a small gym perfect for my needs and the free breakfast was above and beyond with many options for food and drinks. Would give more stars if allowed.
I left a cooler in the room. I realized it two hours later and tried for an hour to get an answer on the phone. I immediately sent an email. The email still hasn't been acknowledged over a day later. I finally got an answer on the phone after two hours of automated transfers. We drove out of our way the following day to return to the hotel. We were told by a very unhelpful desk clerk that no one turned in the cooler. One wonders. Very poor customer service overall.
Nice place to stay in beautiful Truckee, CA. We had a sporting event to attend, and this was the perfect place to Basecamp. The breakfast was hearty and tasty. Had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and sausage. Orange juice too. Will stay here again.

Read more on Tripadvisor Christopher Chursin 1/5 a week ago on Google I will start with we were told we could use the pool for a rehearsal dinner for my wedding that was happening saturday. I had a good amount of family staying at this hotel. Just before arriving an email was sent stating that now the pool was closed the whole month of september! Was told they would get with a neighboring hotel to see if we could use a different pool. Nothing came of that of course. We were also told we would not be charged for parking for the inconvenience. Yet was still charged for the parking. Also my parents were charged for a pet fee. Yet they brought no pets! Now when I got there thursday September 5th 2024 I made two seperate stays because i didn't expect to be there thursday. I was staying until monday. The 5th to the 9th of this month. I checked into my room around 4 pm. My room smelled of urine probably from a dog and the t.v. did not work constant pixel issues. I had to deal with two new staff members who were nice but no clue what to do because there was no manager in sight. Ben the manager was the only good thing and kept it professional the next day, comping my room for the first day. It was one thing after another with this hotel. My parents room smelled like smoke and the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag. I also had to check out Friday morning and check back in that afternoon because they wouldn't just keep me in the same room for the weekend. Therefore having to pack all my things that morning and unpack them again in the afternoon. Hands down would not reccommend this terribly ran hotel to anyone!
I travel a good deal and have to say this Best Western was one of the best managed properties I have ever seen in any brand. The room was exceptionally well made up, the check in was smooth, breakfast was ample and friendly, and the check-out via text was convenient. Every team member was friendly and accommodating. The walls are a tad thin but otherwise, absolutely no complaints. A side note: it would be great if all hotels/motels listed the type of coffee-making device they have in their rooms. I, for one, like to bring my own coffee and my wife drinks tea. It would be helpful to know what format to bring.

At $400 a night, it was a little pricey, but then again, it was summer in Truckee/Tahoe, so not a surprise. The room was nice but the huge disappointment/frustration was the water was off for 4.5 hours. We were told about an hour before they turned it off that it would be down 2 hours. That was the last piece of information we got. After 4.5 hours, it finally worked -- though it took another 30-45 minutes for the hot water to make its way through the system. Frustrating, but emergencies happen. Most frustrating was the lack of information or apology or any attempt to compensate guests for the inconvenience.
Although far from the lake, it is next to 2 fine restaurants: 50/50 and drunken monkey sushi. The facility is excellent in room size, cleanliness, amenities etc. I was disappointed in their dynamic pricing of > $326 for one nite which is high for a hotel not near the lake, tahoe city , kings beach or truckee
Decent Hotel, good location but could be better. For some reason the pool is kept at 90 degrees, summertime? Friendly staff but hard to get housekeeping even after asking front desk. A solid 7 with possibility of being a 9. Breakfast was better than average, just go early.
Did a great job meeting my family's needs. The beds are comfortable and there are lots of resources at the hotel like the ice machine and the business center. We enjoyed the pool and the breakfast. The staff was very friendly. We would stay here again when we are in the area.

3-day extended stay for nearby wedding venue. Difficult to find hotel driveway at nighttime with poorly lit driveway and signs, while trying to avoid being rear-ended in fast-moving 45 MPH 2-lane dark roadway. Room very dark even with all lights on and curtains. Distressed, visibly worn walls in room. Staff diffuclt to find, even during check-in, and not reactive to young kids running in halls at 11 PM, as well as hotel contractors yelling down halls a 6 to 7 AM while guests sleeping.
Love this great hotel. For the price it delivers 100%. Great staff, cookies upon check in Walking distance to local restaurants Easy drive to ski, water or fishing. Wonderful dining super close by. Highly recommend the noodle place across the road.
First of all, the bed was quite comfortable (and I'm picky). The location is good since it's near a great brew pub. However, the staff needs better training as no one was there when we arrived—then they all came back together. Overall, the hotel needs some updating and a deep cleaning.
The room was very comfortable. The refrigerator has a separate freezer for those needing to refreeze your blue ice. The location is nice and quiet and a great location. The breakfast was wonderful. Eggs and tamales were delicious! Nice fruit options.
We had to find a quick stay when our plans changed to avoid driving through the mountains at night. The night (10:30) desk person was very nice and efficient and checked us in with no problems. The room was clean and inviting- for Trukee we expected a tad more luxury in a Best Western PLUS- but it was a decent room. The rest of the place was pretty and had the ambiance of the mountains. Breakfast room is very nice and cozy, the food was decent with a server and plenty of options. The only complaint I have- being a coffee person in the morning- is the quality of the coffee. I found it terrible, even though they have a cool machine to make cappuccino, the coffee was not drinkable for me. If you don't look forward to that amazing first cup of coffee in the morning, you will love staying here.
Would t recommend better places for money iterate useless breakfast average at best and room was old tired and smelt very musty hallways smelt of food not in a nice way
One of the best BWs we have ever stayed at. Excellent communication from the moment we booked until we departed with friendly updated text reminders & e-mails. Outstanding customer service. Extremely clean & extra amenities for a welcomed stay.
Super comfortable hotel, within walking distance to a few restaurants and close driving to down town Truckee. It was spring break so lots of families with small children, but still very quiet. Nice breakfast. We always stay here when we ski Palasides or Alpine Meadows.
Many things about this facility were first-class. The hot breakfast was beyond expectations. But, the nicest thing was when I checked out and told the gentleman that I had hurt myself at the airport the day before (and showed him my large cut on my forehead). He quickly reached in a drawer for a large bandage, and offered such a sincere and empathetic reaction and willingness to help. What a nice guy!
We really enjoyed our stay! It was so easy to make our reservation online, pick our room and check in. The room was very nice and clean and not that far from where we wanted to ski. The price was perfect for us and we all were able to get a great nights sleep! We've been back twice so far!
We tracked with two kids between 9 and 13 years old. My wife and I enjoyed lounging in the jacuzzi watching the kids play. Parking at the hotel was plentiful and close to the entrance. Food was delicious and drinks were always available.
We were able to book rooms for a pretty decent price for a snowy weekend. The staff was friendly, helpful, and laid back. Our room was nice — nothing fancy but it did include a desk, desk chair, comfy chair, fridge with separate freezer, microwave, and Keurig-style coffee maker. Though it was below freezing, the heated outdoor pool and huge hot tub were full of people at night. There was an indoor lounge area with a TV and a bunch of tables which I thought was pretty neat. There was also a separate breakfast room/bar. The breakfast was not amazing but was good enough.
The room was right across the ice machine and was quite noisy inside when the machine was making ice. We requested to change the room but was declined for all rooms fully booked. Although it was only 6pm, the front dest claimed that all room were checked in. I do not believe so. And the room had an awful smell like someone threw out and it was not cleaned thoroughly. The lemon flavored air spray tended to mask the smell but failed. We requested housekeeping to clean the room again, but NO housekeeper in the hotel! Front dest can only offered me a bottle of odor removal spray. This is a horrible experience of hotel stay. I paid $500 for the night and received service far below the price. This is my first time and last time to stay Best Western and will not recommend anyone to stay.
I wanted to like this place. It's only 10 mins from Northstar if you're skiing and it's not far from Raley's and a couple restaurants across the street. The hot breakfast was pretty good. Unfortunately this hotel is noisy. If you do stay here, make sure to ask for a second floor room. I requested one, but still got assigned a first floor room. At first it was no biggie as I liked being able to look out the window and keep an eye on my truck. And it's convenient for hauling your gear to your room. But then in the early morning I got woken up repeatedly by all types of commotion. First it was someone walking above me at 6AM. Then the sound of water roaring down the pipes from a toilet or shower somewhere. Then kids running up and own the hall. Noise bleeds through the connecting room doors too, I could hear every word from my neighbors. Truckee is an expensive town during ski season-- I paid nearly $300/night on the weekend here. If you're a deep sleeper and bring a sound machine it might be ok. Personally if I'm already paying $300 I'd rather shell out some more to stay at a quieter place.
The hotel is in a great location- close to downtown Truckee and Northstar. The Breakfast was better and had more hot options than other Best Western's I've been to. They have a nice pool and big hot tub. If you need to work, in addition to a small business room, they have a good area that is not in the middle of the lobby so it's nice and quiet. Very comfortable and pleasant stay.
We found this last minute and we're pleasantly surprised by how cute & clean it was! They provided a full breakfast & you could also make a sandwich to go! It is located 10 minutes away from the resort, so it was very convenient!
Really enjoyed our stay in Truckee at this hotel. Location was easy and convenient to go to downtown or over to Lake Tahoe. Breakfast was hot and varied by day, very clean with exceptional staff. Hot tub was huge and even though it was cold out, the water was perfect. Front desk staff was helpful and nice too.
Pros: Great location, beautiful pool and hot tub, (although the jets weren't working during our stay), good value, delicious hot breakfast with friendly kitchen attendants. Cons: Hidden, unsubstantiated fees; issues with theft, bizzar towel policy and poor guest service by one gentleman Tip: Bring your own towel from home!!!!! My child and I used the pool in the evening during our stay, when we were ready to get out, we couldn't find any towels. I asked a couple in the hot tub where they got their towels, and they said they issue you a numbered towel at the front desk. (There were no signs and no one told us at check in.) The couple felt bad for me and my child that we were soaking wet, it was cold and we didn't have a towel, so they gave us there's. We told them we would get them another towel from the front desk. We went to the front desk, checked back in the towels they gave us and got new towels for the guests. We told the two ladies at the desk to put the new towels under the other guests name (and clarified not under our name.) We proceeded to buy some water and charged it to the room. The ladies said they have a lot of theft at the hotel so now they need to issue numbered towels assigned to guests. We were still cold and wet but we brought the fresh towels to the other guests and went to our room. The next day there was no one to check out with, so I dropped off my keys and traveled home. I then received an email for $60 to replace the towels. I thought it must be a simple mistake. We never checked out the towels and we used the other guests towels less than 5 minutes. I called and called and no one answered. Finally after 30 minutes someone picked up. They were very rude and short on the phone. I was surprised on how bad his customer service was since the rest of the staff were so nice. I asked to get a credit and for someone to contact me. I still have not received either.
I only stayed one night, with my Husky dog. The room was clean and spacious. I slept well in the comfortable bed & fluffy pillows. The grab & go breakfast foods were fresh and good. I would return to this hotel.
Pool and spa were wonderful. Decor and environment warm and inviting. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Price was perfect. The breakfast was varied with tamales, eggs, burritos, bacon, potatoes. Delicious start to the day. Pool needs to open earlier
However, I was there four days and not once did housekeeping enter my room to replenish coffee, towels or empty trash. They will have to deal with the cans that are overflowing with takeout boxes etc.
We booked a room for a quick family overnight after a day at Donner Lake. We decided to check out this pet-friendly hotel. Mistake. I booked the room through a third party, which caused problems when we checked in. I was charged for the room again at check in, even though I prepaid. The desk staff said the manager would fix it in the morning. After they finally got our keys ready, we went to our room, opened the door and instantly smelled weed. The previous guest must have been seriously smoking in there. Back to the front desk to request a new room. Second room: strong odor of dog pee. Yes, it was a pet friendly room, but an overpowering urine smell isn't going to work. Back to the front desk. I'll note that the front desk staff was extremely apologetic and helpful, quickly finding us another room. Next room: no smell. But, we pulled the covers back on the bed and discovered a dirty sock. Like, a “we probably didn't wash these sheets” dirty sock. At this point we considered finding another hotel, but getting a refund from the third party wasn't going to happen. So we ended up in the fourth room, which didn't have any issues. But, these rooms should not be $275. The hotel clearly has a housekeeping issue. I have never requested a new room when traveling, so this was a new experience. A couple of other notes: the front desk staff stopped by the room to check on us, apologize and offer a refund, saying the room is on them. Well, the refund never happened, and when I called about it and left messages for the manager never called back. This isn't the hotel's fault, but it was the icing on the cake: When we returned from dinner someone was in the hot tub with their dog. Their dog. In the hot tub. Pros: good location, pet friendly, solid breakfast buffet, helpful front desk and buffet staff Cons: major housekeeping issues, promised refund and didn't get it, hot tubbing dog
Great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, Great staff. Breakfast is The Best we have had since the pandemic and we have stayed in dozens of hotels. The hotel looks like a cute Lodge feel, itmis a little dated, but very nice. We do recommend this hotel.
Maintenance on the rooms must be addressed. We awoke to a dangerously slippery flooded bathroom floor. Called the front desk to report the leaking sink, replacement of the p trap before we departed the room, but the woman who answered didn't seem to care. We took the time and courtesy to call later in the afternoon and spoke with the Manager. After my requesting it, the manager "reluctantly" refunded payment for our stay. He should have thanked us for taking the time to once again report a serious maintenance problem and one which could have resulted in serious injury. He should have immediately offered to refund the room stay. He hung up on me before I could even thank him for his consideration.
We stay here regularly. The breakfast is outstanding. The staff is very nice Rooms are clean and everything works well. The setting is beautiful. Very quiet . It's a quick trip to down town and a short drive to Tahoe.
Clean room, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. Room wound have been small for a family of four. Good set up of micro/fridge area. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Breakfast area was crowded at 7:15 on the weekend with those ready to start their adventures. Be sure to tip the breakfast staff. They were hustling without complaint.
This used to be my least favourite hotel in Truckee, but the last few years they have seemingly become more favorable to the blue collar workers who come to work for various entities in the area. I say this is the best situated hotel in Truckee because I've stayed in every hotel in town. It is a five minute drive to downtown, but why risk the dui when you can just stroll to the area's best brewery/pub, the Fifty Fifty, which is across the street. In addition to brewing their own beer they distill some great spirits. Additionally there is a sushi restaurant called the Drunken Monkey and a Thai place. If you have a portable stove there is a great butcher shop near the restaurants which makes fresh sausages daily. There is a Raley's One grocery store over on Soaring Way which is next to hwy267. There is also an Ace Hardware next to the all natural food Raley's. The Martis Valley Massage office is right there too and I recommend visiting them as well. No other hotel in the area has such great amenities within a few minutes walk or drive as this one does.
It's old, it needs renovation, it has thin walls so that we could hear voices, TV, shower running, etc. coming from other rooms and was very annoying. It should not be rated as a Best Western Plus. Beds were too soft. Breakfast was good. I won't stay there again.
Thank you, the breakfast workers were super nice and the two ladies at the front desk, they all made our stay. Other than the dirty room when we checked-in, Maria and the man serving breakfast were over the top nice and helpful and made us feel so welcome.
The location and team here is excellent. Accessible local amenities are within walking distance making it easy during a storm to enjoy local restaurants and amenities. North Star is a quick drive down the road.
This is a beautiful hotel. Nothing fancy, but lots of nice amenities at a reasonable price. In particular, the breakfast service is exceptional for a Best Western hotel. Jill prepared different egg dishes each day, in addition to scrambled eggs, all of which use freshly cracked eggs. Today, she had fresh baked muffins made from scratch. In addition, they had all the usuals: bagels, toast, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, juices, coffee, etc.
This hotel is in a great location, clean and a great place to stay if you're going to North Lake Tahoe. Comfortable and clean rooms. I really enjoyed the decor of the hotel. The staff was friendly.
Would highly recommend! Quiet, clean, safe hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. Good selections for breakfast. Close to historical sites. Pet friendly. Nice amenities to choose from. Nestled in the pines. Ample parking.
Nice location and close to interesting places to visit. Typically a quiet area with nice places to eat within walking distance. Beds are comfortable and pillows are a good size. I miss the breakfast tamales. Now the breakfast is just run of the mill.
Housekeeping did an amazing job cleaning our room!! Well stocked with towels, shampoo, soaps, etc.Full Breakfast in downstairs eating area!! Very good!! Staff kept everything well stocked!! Enjoyed the fresh fruit salad and all food was very tasty. Highly recommend staying here if you are in the Truckee area!!
Our breakfast eggs were green from a mold like substance. I told the staff serving about it and she said it was because the eggs were hot. Ummm, no! The coffee pot in the room had mold and filthy residue on it. Gross!
You don't even have to get on the interstate to get to the Memorial and museum. That's what we were in the area for. The ck in clerk was helpful recommending three places to eat next door. The motel was very nice and quiet. Comfy bedding and a great bfst options. Would recommend everyone to stay here.
This was my wife & I first visit to the Truckee, CA area. We loved the location. It was easy to get to the various activities that were planned for the week long 'destination wedding' celebration we attended. Clean rooms and great daily breakfast!
The room as very clean, the internet and the TV worked well. It is next to a Tesla Charging station and less than a half a mile from a new Raleys market. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave. Both were very clean and the refrigerator has a freezer compartment. This was very important to get cold packs ready for the next day's trip in the heat.
I needed an early check in and late check out. Ellen went above and beyond to help me. Everyone was wonderful. Plus the location is amazing, quite, and central. Will def be recommending to others from now on.
We had an unexpected stay due to the fact our son was transported to Truckee for surgery. Booked Best Western and from the booking to when we checked out it was great. Room was clean and had great amenities. Desk Stagg was helpful giving us all the toiletries we needed. To top it off we had an awesome breakfast! Thank you Best Western Truckee!
Stay away from this hotel. It smells like pee everywhere and the rooms have windows that you can't open. On top, staff is rude. Not worth the money you might save staying here. On top, rooms are noisy, since half of the rooms face a pool. If you look for fresh mountain air and a quiet place, this is not it. I would not stay with my dog here, let alone with my family.
Great price, convenient, clean rooms and awesome amenities! Lots of extras to enjoy. Walking /exercising trail, walkable to several restaurants. quite location. easy distance to downtown Truckee. Awards club.
Great Stay! Loved the snow in May! Convent location. Great pub near the hotel that is a very short walk. Next time I hope to use the pool. Beds were comfy. Best min refrigerator and freezer at a hotel.
This hotel offers a quiet, peaceful atmosphere that allows the traveler to relax by a nice, warm swimming pool, sit on the patio while warming by a fire, eat at decent restaurants within walking distance and come back to a very clean room.
Aren't you supposed to check all the smoke alarms when we do DST - Spring Forward, Fall Back ??? Not here. Smoke alarm in hallway chirped all night. Beds have feather bed toppers which would be great if there was a cover on them - not just a sheet. Got poked by feathers all night while I didn't sleep. Manager stated she would get back to me on these problems but that was days ago......
I think the hotel is a typical BW with rustic charm and best location for enjoy skiing or any other outdoor activities in Tahoe area. My room was quiet and comfortable, staff was friendly, beautiful surroundings, and nice breakfast too.
I have been coming to this hotel for 4 years now with multiple winter stays. It saddens me to say this hotel has been going down hill the last couple years. It really should be labeled a s just a BW now instead of a Plus. There is peeling paint in the hallway, mildew covered fire sprinkler in bathroom, stained curtains, bathroom wall dirty even had hair stuck to it, stained bottom sheets, and last year on my last visit I had to change rooms 3 times and just settled to stay in the 3rd room because it was less dirty of the 3. Unfortunately I am going to seek other hotels for future stays and hope this hotel gets redone soon. I will say staff has always been friendly and was very accommodating when I had to change rooms due to the lack of cleanliness. I brought this to the managers attention and she was friendly , apologetic and recognized they have had issues with being short staffed and housekeeping. She offered me a free night stay for the future which I have not redeemed at this time.
Stayed here for 2 nights for a quick ski trip and was pleasantly surprised by how nice the stay was here at this hotel. Room was nice and spacious, towels were super thick and fluffy, the grab and go hot breakfast was pretty good, and the location was convenient to local resorts and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again!
The hotel was clean and decent enough to stay. No cleaning services provided unless staying for more than 4 nights due to staffing. In general, staff need training on customer service. While breakfast was good, the kitchen staff seemed bothered when we requested items the front desk staff are critical to the hotel and should be able to resolve customer issues quickly. However, some front desk staff lacked customer service and do not know how to resolve issues.
This hotel is close to several ski resorts. We typically stay here when skiing at Northstar. It's also not too far from Palisades (both Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows). This hotel is not too far from Truckee downtown, where lots of food options are available.
WARNING - this Best Western has it all. Crime, drugs, worn facilities, indifferent management. The list goes on. We stayed at this Best Western in early October 2021. We returned to the hotel from dinner to find police in the hall next to our room. We went to the front desk to find out what was happening and were met by a completely indifferent staff who told us they couldn't give us any information. We asked to speak with the hotel manager. The front desk employee called the manager on a cell phone and told her a guest was asking why the police were there. We could literally hear the manager talking over the phone to the employee and instructing her to tell us they couldn't give out any information. I asked the employee if I could speak to the manager and she relayed the request over the phone, while I was standing there, and the manager literally said she could talk to us in the morning. We returned to our room and asked the police who told us it was a domestic issue and we were probably safe. "Probably". If that is not the experience you are looking for, wait, there is more. Best Western is not a high-end hotel, we paid a bit more than $300 a night, so expectations aren't incredibly high but the furniture in our room was literally worn out to the point of leaking filling. The rooms are dated and not quiet, which is nice if you have a domestic disturbance next door and police in the halls. You can save money during your stay though. The hallways of the hotel smell very heavily of pot so with a couple of laps you can save on your medical needs. If you want to escape the police presence and smell of pot beware. There was a very aggressive dog in a car just outside the door to the hotel. It's just that kind of hotel. We regularly stay at Best Western when we take road trips but this experience has us avoiding the brand altogether.
Room was very nice with comfortable beds and was quiet. There are several restaurants a short walk away. Friendly staff. Convenient parking for the hotel. The breakfast was very good with breakfast egg sandwiches with bacon and Tamale bowls.
I've stayed here twice. Both times I've had a great experience. They serve hot breakfast. The team at check-in is awesome. There are 3 restaurants within walking distance plus a local golf course around the corner as well as world class skiing and boarding near by.
Let me preface the review by saying it's the first time I've stayed in a hotel during (the end?!) of COVID-19 and the restrictions. We stayed 5 days and I think that since there is no cleaning of rooms during COVID it might've been easier to book 2 nights at a time so that we could get our garbage and towels changed. Having to clean your own room /change the garbage/pull a handcart to your room takes the 'vacation' out of your stay, but alas. As the hotel is designated "pet friendly" we considered bringing the dog but glad we didn't because dogs are not allowed in the rooms alone, nor are they allowed in any of the outdoor spaces like the pool, so really you have limitations there. On the up side, if you're not a dog owner there isn't a noticeable smell and I only heard a few barks coming from the 1st floor. Pool-- opens at 10, but spa is closed, CA health code. A group of people were smoking cigars by the pool every night and smoking is not allowed, but when I told the front desk they said oh, yeah, they shouldn' t be doing that and did nothing. The staff is overall friendly and competent but it is limited to one person at the desk and one of them ordered a beer from a traveling vendor while on the clock! Breakfast is included but it's nothing to really write home about. The hot food is from one of those airline distributors, and vegetarian stuff was not.
We decided to take a trip to the Truckee area, and since we were bringing our puppy, we chose BW. The hotel is situated right on a safe walking path that will eventually take you to the Truckee River, a large park and the downtown area which was perfect for us. The hotel is close to dog friendly restaurants, so we didn't even need to pile into the car for dinner. The staff were very friendly (not in a phony way), and we were welcomed with human cookies and doggy cookies too.
The hotel was wonderful! I would have given it a "5", and their customer service DEFINITELY gets a 5, but the property needs a little face lift. It was clean and there was not a problem at all, just time to do some refreshing!
This hotel is in a good location but I thought the price per quality was off. The carpets looked like they could use a good cleaning and the service from the front desk was "OK". The hotel was fairly highly priced, but the service I received for half the price in the several nights before from other hotels (we were on a road trip) was equal or better. That said, the breakfast was very good given the current state of affairs and the dining staff was friendly and that area was very clean.
This hotel according to my grandchildren and the rest of the family was the best hotel they have ever stayed in and we travel a lot. I was very impressed with the friendly staff, the hotel amenities and my grandchildren's favorite the pool. I hate to give it such high marks because I would love this gem to stay a secret just for us but this hotel deserves all the accolades we can say and more. You will not be disappointed. Do yourself a favor and stay here if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed!
My daughter and her friend visited the hotel, I provided my credit card authorization form weeks before her arrival. on the day her arrival her debit card was charged at check in, my daughter called me for this and when I called the hotel only computer answered the call and ask me to leave the message. left 2 messages but no reply till to date ( 5/31/2021). secondly my daughter found couple for cigarettes burn holes on under line of blanket sheets.
Visiting Tahoe with your family, golden retriever.. oh & need to host your 9 year old's baseball team & their families for a dinner pool party? No problem Best Western Truckee's got you covered. This hotel never disappoints. Friendly attentive staff, awesome breakfast, great location & grounds. Special thanks to general manager Casey for helping plan & reserve space by the pool to host my large group by the firepit. He had all the details worked out & ready to go. They loved it, were impressed & so appreciative. Nice to have dinner options like Thai, sushi, and a brewery right next door. Amazing value with a family stay here thank you!!
We stayed here on our way to Mammoth lakes. We chose it because it was reasonably priced and dog friendly. The room was large which meant room for me to set up the dogs ex-pen. They don't clean the rooms during your stay because of covid which was great. But the room seemed very clean when we arrived. I didn't notice any dog hair or dog smell. The person at the front desk the day we checked out was super accommodating. Breakfast was only served until 9:30 am and I was out walking the dog and was worried I wouldn't make it back in time so I called. She said, no problem just take my time and she'd make sure I got something when I got back. I got back in time to get food but I appreciated her flexibility. They didn't have their usual breakfast service and seating because of Covid but they had a grab and go breakfast including hot items like breakfast burritos and sandwiches.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, heated pool! Walking path to restaurants & park in a quiet and safe-feeling area. The breakfast was good, microwave in room to heat it. The outdoor seating and decor was nice. The only thing missing was the spa, but due to covid it was closed.
One of the best chain hotel experiences I've ever had. Staff were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to see that our stay was an exceptional experience. Highly recommend!! Without a doubt when I'm in the area again, I will stay with Best Western Truckee-Tahoe.
A late night arrival; smooth check-in & informed about the breakfast options. A very spacious room and comfortable beds. Internet connection was excellent. Room 124 has a security door latch that can unexpectedly prevent you from entering but the clerk and maintenance quickly fixed the problem. A very easy going atmosphere amongst the pine trees with a grocery store and gas station located nearby. Road construction can turn a quick trip to Lake Tahoe into a 30 minute drive but again, enjoyable views of the local area can be appreciated. Will return to this property for future visits.
All Best Westerns are wonderful, but this one near Lake Tahoe is lovely. The courtyard around the pool is a nice visual from the spacious rooms. I loved the ski posters decorating our room. During snow season the decor enhanced the ambiance of the place.
I understand that prices go up as demand goes up, we booked this trip a week in advance, probably one of the last good weekends for snow activity. For $300 it is incredibly overpriced, you can here everything from neighboring rooms, people walking down the hallway etc. There was a lot of dark lint on the bed sheets. Not sure why that would be when all the linens are white. The only upside is you can walk right across the street to your choice of 3 restaurants.
My husband and I are Best Western members and we received a one night free promotion because of prior stays. We booked a room here on Valentine's Day. First of all, the room was supposed to be ready by 3:00 pm. We had to wait till 4 to get our room. Next, there were no bars of soap in the bathroom, so I had to track down a maid to get some soap. Our king size bed was very uncomfortable and the walls were so thin! We were downstairs and the people upstairs seemed to be up most of the night. They must have had kids running around constantly! We will not choose to stay here again. One last thing: we thought a free room should be free, but they charged us taxes on the room!
Very nice hotel at a good price. Very clean friendly staff and a good breakfast. Our room was very clean and the cleaning staff is very friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable experience over all. I will be coming back for sure.
I came to Truckee for a short getaway and called and spoke to Atham who was very professional on the phone and was able to book a reservation for me. Atham provided amazing customer service from the moment i called to walking through the front entrance to check in. He was friendly and informative about the property and truly made me feel welcomed. the best western inn Truckee offers complimentary breakfast and coffee in the morning and have premium channels to watch movies on. i felt the property was clean and safe during the pandemic as well. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We like a soft bed and found the soft mattress topper over a good mattress gave us both support and comforting softness. We were able to sleep without back or shoulder aches. The breakfast were "grab & Go" items which included breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos which we could take back to our room and heat in the microwave which we felt were a good adaptation for the COVID conditions. However, with a small desk and one desk chair, eating in the room wasn't easy. There was an oversized chair and hassock but would have found a small table and two chairs more functional. The rectangular shower stall was closed at the end where the fixtures are attached so that you have to enter from the far end and can't reach the faucet without standing directly in front of it resulting in being hit with a forceful blast of COLD water before you could jump out and wait for the water to warm up.
We have stayed here a couple of times. For an older property they do a great job with service and cleanliness. Will stay here again. COVID procedures were great including good breakfast options in these times. A lot of guests have dogs here so be aware of this and of the grassy areas. I would recommend the sushi restaurant next door. To management, please clean up after disrespectful other dog owners better.
Pleasant and well-maintained. Seems more like a motel than a hotel. Room was comfortable with most conveniences. Good takeaway breakfast with several options. Easy place to have a dog, with outside walking options right there.
Nice Best Western Plus. Great location. Hop, skip & jump to downtown Truckee, hiking and more. Close to major roadways (but no roadway noise). Room clean, hotel was quiet. Bed was deluxe. Self serve breakfast offered lots of selections including breakfast sandwiches. Enjoyed our stay very much.
We felt very comfortable with their COVID protocol. Never felt compromised. The front desk arranged for us to have our 'take away ' dinner by the fire pits. For breakfast, the front desk opened the outside pool area so we could have our 'take away 'breakfast on a nearby table.
Best Western Truckee is a very comfortable hotel with a lot of great amenities. The hot breakfast and staff are great, there are places throughout to work and/or relax... nice pool, even though I've never used it. The front desk staff has always been very welcoming and helpful. The television service needs to be updated--no guide, very limited options... but I watch very little TV while I'm there, so not a big issue for me.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, the staff at the BW Truckee was fantastic. The are all very friendly and accommodating with a great mix of fun personality. The room was clean and very comfortable. The grab and go breakfast was homemade and delicious. Everything we needed was taken care of quickly and with a smile. The location is perfect for exposing the region and if your hungry, the restaurants next door are perfect.
Best Western offer the best pricing for Military veterans , and Active Duty, Thank You Many of us are limited budgets and Best Western cares. They also offered and light breakfast at this location . Parking and location were great , a few restaurants close by for main meals .
Nice place to stop over for a night. Beds were comfortable, wifi was really strong and I love that they have a microwave in the room. Couple of restaurant right across the way and the Truckee river is close by.
The overall appearance of the hotel was very nice. Rooms were clean, parking readily available, staff friendly and accommodating especially since I changed my reservation just a few days before arrival. Great location to downtown Truckee, the river and a brewpub next door.
This is not a busy time for this hotel. SO WHY, would you place guests into rooms that in the hallway between their rooms construction is going to take place in the morning??? And why is not the front desk manned 24/7? The desk is not manned until 8:30a.m.? The location is great, the rooms nicely appointed and access to Lake Tahoe is only 20 minutes away.
We stayed here because they allow dogs. Breakfast was standard for a BW Heads up on 2 ISSUES Our room that was supposed to have 2 Queen beds was really 2 FULL beds. If you want a hot soak after skiing go elsewhere. The jacuzzi was cold and only 1/2 the jets worked. I told the front desk in the morning, and asked the maintenance person to look into it. The front desk staff was not in a good mood, but said she would tell maintenance. That evening the jacuzzi temp was just as cold. Noting was done
Pros: Room was clean, beds were comfortable, breakfast was decent (some hot food like eggs & oatmeal, cereals, fresh fruit, pastries); COOKIES in the lobby; big hot tub and heated pool; a cute shopping center across the street that has a great restaurant. Cons: Said hot tub & pool are outdoors (not wonderful to tromp thru snow to get to them) & no good place to wax skis.
It was a very nice size Jacuzzi and fire pit with rocking chairs to relax in, we were not able to use either because they were broken. Front desk was very nice and I would stay here again hopefully all the amenities will be in working order next time.
We arrived in the evening and the reception area was quite full of people who do the check-in, however, it was fast, so we did not have to wait very long. We got a room on the second floor, it was spacious, neat and clean, with a comfy bed to sleep in. Room has a single cup coffee maker with coffee condiments, a microwave and a refrigerator. Bathroom is clean, with a complete towel set and basic toiletries. They serve hot breakfast: crepes, cheese omelette, fresh waffle, sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, biscuit and gravy, bread and pastries, cereal, juices, tea and coffee etc, at a cozy breakfast area. We had a pleasant stay.
In general, the room was very clean, well furnished and the staff was friendly. Provided breakfast was meh. All in all, a comfortable and predictable Best Western hotel. I would however strongly recommend a 2nd floor room that faces the side or back of the property to minimize noise issues outlined below. Location is ok with the Fiftyfifty brewing next door, but that is about it for walk-able restaurants. I did find that the rooms were excessively noisy. Between plumbing noises, squeaky floors, and voices/TV from adjoining rooms, neither of my nights there were not restful, and I am not necessary a light sleeper. The person above me got up to use the bathroom multiple times during the night, and I could hear him/her walk across the squeaky floor and flush the toilet each and every time. Early morning showers (e.g. 4:30am) were also quite loud as were the late night voices/TV from adjoining rooms. Only other comment I would share is that the hot tub was only lukewarm. One other note -- one of the nights I stayed it snowed and with a room that faced the street, you could hear the snowplows doing their thing during the night and early in the morning. This is what it is and out of the hotel's control. Not sure I will stay there again, but if so, i'll request a room not facing the street.
This motel is very standard but very comfortable. It's in a convenient location. The mattresses are comfortable. Our bathroom was spotless. The place takes a beating with skiers and snow, etc., but it's just fine. The front desk staff are very welcoming. The breakfast is adequate and available when you want it! So glad we have it for regular visits to our daughter. I will say the room was pricey for what it was--but this was Christmas. They could ask what they want!
The Best Western is very predictable, always a great stay. The always have warm cookies, a nice breakfast, clean diningroom, clean remotes, spacious and impeccable grounds. Friendly staff who seem to always be happy. A fireplace in foyer, great curb appeal, knowledgable staff regarding most any question of the area in which the hotel is located. Fast and friendly service.
This is a very warm-welcoming hotel. The front desk was very friendly, the cleaning lady greeted to us when we passed by, the staff behind the breakfast bar was nice and helpful. Over all, this is a great and clean hotel with convenient location, friendly staff, and comfortable bed. We will definitely come back.
I was well cared for. All my needs were met and suggestions were made that helped me better my visit. The employees were trained in their field. Rosa my housekeeper was kind and had no problem addressing my needs.
I am a big fan of this BW hotel. Located right across the street from a shuttle stop that takes you directly to the slopes. The rooms are well kept, a hot tub on property, firepit out front, and great breakfast variety. They do it right, and we will be back again! The beds were also very comfy!
We were in the hotel 2 days with my family last July. The hotel is very nice and well located (in the north part of Lake Tahoe and very near the small town of Truckee). The breakfast is very good and great to start the date. I will definitely go again to the hotel.
Stayed one night. Very nice facility. Surprised to receive a bottle of Fuji water. The Fuji company is not environmentally friendly and is known to clear cut forests in California. The Tahoe visitor bureau encourages visitors not to bring bottle water containers.
I was quite happy with this Best Western. I am not sure how one BW is a plus and another is not. This seemed quite good to me. Although it was off season, we were able to walk across the street and get a great meal at the Thai Delicious restaurant.
Nice hotel. Had everything we needed for our 1 night in Truckee. Beds were comfortable, and the room was quiet. Breakfast was well stocked and set-up nicely. It is right next door to a winery & brewery too. Would stay here again.
We stayed here on a Friday night, easy check in, friendly staff. Room was clean but older. Comfortable beds. Walkable to restaurants but at least a 20 minute walk to Truckee center. Free hot breakfast was really good.
Yes, this location is walking distance to a couple of very good restaurants and a short drive to Truckee. As a frequent stayer at multiple Best Western properties, this one falls short. So much so that I checked out after one night on a multi-night reservation and was willing to pay much more! Sorry to be a negative nelly, but I'm just gonna lay it out there. Beds were uncomfortable, bathroom was incredibly small, room location AND the HVAC unit were very noisy. There were two things that annoyed me even more. My husband and I both had bug bites. Ugh. And when I checked out early, the front desk staff never once inquired why or if my room was okay? Wow. Very disappointing....
The overall experience was great. Hugh outdoor fireplace on cold nights was very romantic. Close to everything. Awesome drive to Lake Tahoe from hotel. Friendly staff made the experience even better then we could plan.
Best Western Plus made a short vacation unforgettable. The location is an easy access to Truckee, Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake. We loved the great breakfasts too. We can hardly wait to do this stay here again next year.
We stayed here on business recently, and loved this hotel! Staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and updated. It is also placed in a great location near town. Parking was tight, but that is to be expected in a very busy small town!
Nice place for relaxation, very quiet, and great for family get togethers. The brick fire tables were exquisite. Lots of space for friends and family to relax outside with a drink or just to enjoy the great outdoors.
We had just stayed at a BW in Tonopah,NV and seeing this was a BW "+" expected it to be much better. Well it wasn't. In Tonopah we had two vanity areas, several choices of afternoon cookies and a few other small amenities in the room this didn't have. For a lot less. Our room had a strange mattress pad on top of the regular mattress that created a "muffin top" shape to the bed. Hard to sit on edge, and phones, tablets or computers within a foot of the edge would slide off. Apparently not all room had this, as our son said his room had regular mattresses. Other than that, the rooms were quiet and comfortable, staff friendly and efficient. THE BEST PART...breakfast choices and quality...lots to eat, even had turkey bacon besides regular bacon and sausage. Didn't see any lag getting fresh food back to the serving line. You won't go hungry.
Great simple hotel that is close to Tahoe and Donner Lake. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and excellent service. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Tahoe or Donner Lake. Enjoyed our visit.
Nice clean and comfortable hotel in Truckee with a free breakfast better than most other places that serve just a continental breakfast. Close to golfing and a couple of restaurants right next door within walking distance.
We came to Truckee for a sports event for my daughter and a lot of people rented condos at the nearby ski resort. They ended up wishing they had stayed at the Best Western with us for two main reasons: 1) they didn't have air conditioning and we did. Its something I would not have noticed in renting a condo but makes a difference on a hot day clearly. and 2) Best western actually puts out a nice breakfast which made things really easy for us in the morning. My friends in condos had to figure out food in the morning on their own. This is not leading hotels of the world, but I had no complaints, clean room, no noise problems, there was a pool, and right across the street are 3 great restaurants for dinner. Friends of ours even walked a bit in the other direction and did a wine tasting two doors down. Otherwise there's nothing really in walking distance, but you'd probably have a car here anyway. Solid choice for a stay in Truckee. I give it an excellent not because its a luxurious hotel but because for what it is, it does it well.
Best Western Plus Truckee hotel is pretty convenient for location. I feel the price was very similar for other hotels in the neighborhood The big disappointment is that you can hear all the outside noise.
We had a late check in and we were able to check in quickly and get to our room. The layout of the room was nice for four adults. The amenities for the hotel looked nice but we did not take advantage as we were only passing through Breakfast had a good selection and produce was nice quality I would stay here again
The property is clean, the rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is always good. All of the staff were kind and helpful any time I have stayed there, which has been a lot over the last couple years. It's central to anything Truckee, yet just far enough off the beaten path to relax and unwind at either fire-pit located out front next to the main entrance or in the pool area. The pillow top mattresses let me get the best nights sleep after a long days work, and the housekeeping staff were on their game, especially when the hotel was sold out. You couldn't even tell they were sold out, all the employees had smiles on their faces and the place was clean. Stephanie at the front desk was very helpful, as was Ben the manager. I have stayed here multiple times for work, for a week or more each time, and I can never wait to get back out that way for "work".
Stayed here on my way to my sons wedding in San Francisco . I really enjoyed the homemade cookies and the breakfast the next morning. The hot tub was opened and it was really nice to soak in the hot tub. walking distance to many places to eat and shop. We ended up going to downtown and eating at the depot for a interesting place to see where the old trains came and went,
Wonderful location to the wonderful Lake Tahoe city known as Truckee. Wonderful restaurants and close proximity to ski resorts. Best Western Truckee puts you right in the middle and very close to both Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake both are wonderful locations to escape to and relax.
My husband and I have always taken in rescue dogs, and they are our primary focus when we travel. it's difficult because we take in the young with medical issues or the old ones who had humans who have either left them because of difficult situations or their humans died. So, the dogs who are with us are problem children because of their prior lives. And though I like nice things and nice hotels, we often will stay at cheaper motels because it's already a ruckus by the time we get there, and so our traveling circus goes unnoticed. We stayed at this Best Western with our wayward rescue Chihuahua, Mouse, because it was the motel closest to the bike shop where I had purchased a bike I was picking up. We were a little worried because the Chihuahua can bark, be defiant as in running out the motel door and under a moving pick up at a Motel 6, or she consumes some stray bit of garbage she finds in the motel room and vomits. None of her bad behavior showed up, and you know why? It was the Best Western. It was super quiet with well insulated rooms. The rooms were immaculate. No stray bits of stuff for her to randomly eat off the floor. And we were right by the door so I could take her out quickly in the middle of the night when she had to use the bathroom. Also, Best Western had complimentary poop bags for Mouse. And yes, the breakfast was yummy. And yes, the staff was super nice. But of course, we are all about the Chihuahua. We're just two old foggies wandering around with a pint sized tornado, who never acted better, all because she loved the Best Western and they showed her some love back. Pet fee is extra $, but Mouse is worth it.
The hotel is situated in a great location in Truckee - very close to freeway and downtown district. My stay was going just fine until 4:30 am when I was awaken by the sound of a very large dog barking only a few doors down from me. I remember the front desk person asking me if I was traveling with a pet, but didn't connect the dots that the hotel was pet friendly until the barking dog incident at 4:30 am. They could have advise me at check-in that they had patrons with dogs on the premises. If you're a light sleeper or have allergies to dogs, you might want to find another hotel.
We planned a quick trip to Tahoe Treetop Adventures in Tahoe Vista for my kids (9, 11). It was about a 2hr 45 min drive for us so we wanted a place to stay the night after a day of obstacles & zip lining. This hotel fit the bill and we are very happy we stayed here. Our venue was about a 20 min drive away. Downtown Truckee with all the restaurants were only about 5 mins away which was very convenient. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Our room fit the bill with a nice mini fridge & freezer (larger than normal), bathroom amenities, and plenty of room for us. Down in the dining room I was able to grab some paper plates, utencils, tea, hot chocolate, and hot water which was such a nice addition. The biggest downside was dogs are allowed in room and they were downstairs. Unfortunately at 4:30am a large dog beneath us started barking viciously. Multiple times. Not the hotels fault but annoying. At any rate, room was clean, plenty of towels, shower head sucked but water pressure was good (too strong actually lol). However, I've never stayed at a hotel where I liked the shower head anyways. Great place in Truckee if doing anything on the North Tahoe side. Plenty of parking, great location.
Ivana on Front Desk was very accommodating, great service! The heated outdoor pool and hot tub were a hit especially since we had snow and rain the day we arrived. Owners are doing lovely renos. Breakfast included was excellent. All staff are super nice and helpful. Love that they have some pet friendly rooms.
The hotel is clean, the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and with a wide variety. The pool and hot tub were a big hit with the kids, and the fire pit was a hit with the adults!
A great place to stay in Tahoe. It is central to Lake Tahoe, near downtown Truckee, and not too far from the ski resorts. We have stayed there twice and both times have enjoyed, the breakfast, the pool, and that it is dog friendly. There's a trail you can take to the park which made it very convenient to take our dog for a walk. The staff is friendly and customer service oriented.
BW Truckee has an excellent breakfast, is convenient to Truckee and to ski areas. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The front desk personnel are friendly and helpful. The only issue I had on my stay was that the jacuzzi was broken and no effort was made to repair it. It was not disclosed when I booked the reservation. If that is important to you, I'd suggest calling and asking about it before making a future reservation.
This hotel offers personalized service to all. We were warmly greeted at check-in, the rooms are spotlessly cleaned and maintained, and the breakfast staff is very attentive and nice. There are several great dining options immediately next door and I think it is the closest hotel to downtown. We will be back!
We stayed in Truckee the night before our cabin was available in Tahoe. The hotel was clean and well kept but it was musty. Made it very difficult to breathe coming inside from the cold. The room was the same way. Needed to have air circulating better.
From check in to the cozy feather beds, breakfast and fire lit outdoor areas, this place is simply the "best". Front desk help is always available, with cookies no less, and the in room WiFi is better then most.
Nice, clean room with comfortable beds, microwave and minifridge. Every staff member was nice and responsive. Breakfast was adequate. Only complaints we're that hot tub was not hot enough, some feathers poked me through sheets (from down comforter) and internet was slow, andano good place provided to was skis, but overall a pretty good place to stay.
Breakfast is not geared for vegetarians nor diverse guests. Everything had meat contamination. Placement of meat and non-meat entrees was next to each other and guests contaminate each other with wrong utensils.
The facility was very stylish on the outside and in the lobby area, and considering the vast amount of Sierra snow this year was extremely well maintained. There was public space for reading, game playing, and socializing that one normally wouldn't see at a motel. And despite the distance from downtown, it was short walking distance to excellent Asian and Brewpub/Grill options for food.
The location is convenient in Truckee, just 5 mins drive from the centre & walking distance from a couple of bars & restaurants. The style & decor is extremely typical/dated & the cleanliness & functionality average at best. The rooms have no safe box & the bed was very soft. The breakfast selection was very poor. The reception staff are all friendly & pleasant but haven't been trained in the local ecosystem so are completely unable to give you any insights & advice.
I had a very important interview during my stay and the staff were so helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean and the decor was very nice including the bathroom. Absolutely loved the down pillows, duvet and mattress. It was super cozy. The breakfast was substantial. Not just coffee and danish. They had cheese omelets, turkey bacon, sausages, biscuits and gravy, sweet potatoes, home fries, waffles, oatmeal, fruit and much more. Wish I had had the appetite to eat it all!
This is one of our favorite Best Western hotels. The staff is so friendly and they go above and beyond so you will enjoy your stay. It has a great breakfast so you can get a full meal before you hit the slopes. There is a huge hot tub to soak away the day. It's in a great location to visit multiple resort.
We were forced to stay here after highway 80 had closed and had no ETA on reopening. We got the last room available and no other hotels had rooms either. After getting to our room, we called the front desk and asked for an extra cot, to which none were available. That I can understand. I called back multiple times over the next hour to ask for extra blankets and pillows and no one at the front desk would pick up. I finally had to leave our room and walk up to request the extra blankets and pillows. Another hour later they brought us 2 blankets when we asked for 3 and 1 pillow saying they ran out. Worst part was after all of this we went to try and take a shower and were met with freezing water. We were told that the hot water was out, and would be up soon. The next morning, the water was still cold. We were told that some sort of credit would be applied, but were not told how much. After calling corporate was told it would be 15%, for a full priced room since we booked last minute. Normally the room would have been have the cost we paid. This place is just not worth it. Overpriced, and rooms were not comfortable and extremely poor service.
Although the lobby furniture needs to be replaced because it is scratched and worn, it could be from people setting their skis down on it. Everything else is superb! Free cookies in the evening. Recently remodeled very quiet rooms. Disinfected 40” TV remote. Comfy beds although the extra fluffy pillow top becomes more of a nuisance than a novelty. Good WiFi. Motion activated bathroom vent fan. Thermostat instead of controls on a/c unit below window. Much better than average breakfast
Friendly staff - (1) courteous staff on the phone to help me confirm the request for 2 queen bed rooms. (2) friendly staff helping me check in on Friday night midnight Good breakfast - eggs, turkey patties, fruits, coffee, juice. These weren't all they had, but what I had in the morning. It is a decent and hearty selection for breakfast Convenient location - right off the freeway; close to Squaw. The hotel's age is showing in its carpets and decor. So don't expect a modern look.
Great place to stay. Our room was very comfortable. Very nice breakfast area and food offerings. There was ample parking. Big rectangular hot tub and swimming pool in the courtyard. Check in was a little slow. Had to to wait in line for a while.
This is my favorite hotel to stay when we ski at Northstar for many reasons. It is just a 10 minute drive to the ski resort, and it is close to couple of restaurants next door for dinner after skiing (a Thai and a Japanese restaurant), both of which are next door and we just walk over. The rooms have coffee maker and microwave. And the breakfast is a warm breakfast with toast, waffles, potatoes, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fruits, etc..They have a heated pool that I have seen guests use, but we never used that. On this trip, we experienced long travel times from the hotel to the ski resort (30+ minutes), but that is unusual.
We've stayed here a couple times now, and on the whole it's a good hotel. However, if you're looking for a hotel with a hot tub, look elsewhere. This hotel has a tantalizingly large hot tub that is large enough for a bunch of people and looks like it would be great, but when we braved the snow to go soak in it, we found it to be warm but not hot. Needless to say, we didn't stay in for long. Aside from that issue, the hotel is pretty decent. It's nicer than a typical Best Western (thus the "Plus" I suppose). It's not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a dive either. It offers free breakfast (nothing great, but you get what you pay for), and is pet-friendly for a $30/day fee. The biggest thing the hotel has going for it is its location. You can walk to several restaurants across the parking lot, which is really nice: a Thai place, a sushi place, and FiftyFifty Brewing. And it's a short drive to downtown Truckee or to Northstar, and only a slightly longer drive to Squaw and Alpine.
Our stay has been fantastic!! I do know that I've never wanted to be an evacuee. One immediately fears the temporary living options. However, I can say that our stay here has been the best. We especially appreciate ALL of the staff, host/hostess and manager. There's a feeling that you belong to their family. Everyone smiles and makes eye contact. The room is pretty cool with Tahoe style decor. Bed comfort is very, very good. Breakfast offers many different food items—so much that we've eaten everyday for 3 weeks and we still like it!! Coffee is tasty. The location is excellent. It's close enough and far enough away from the interstate. There's sidewalks for endlessly walking the dog—if your pooch is up for it!! And the area is rather scenic too. The three restaurants across the entry drive serve very yummy food. I like that this hotel is very, very clean, close to Boreal and Northstar, and fairly priced. We will def be back. You're all the best—play on word intended. Truth!
I have to say we have been here about 3 weeks now! The house keeping service has been excellent (very friendly)! The breakfast every morning has been great! Eggs, bacon, waffles, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy and good coffee! Heated pool and hot tub. We also have a small dog and they are pet friendly!(they have a daily fee for the dog, but it's cheaper than a kennel!) They do have OK WiFi and cable. My only complaint is it would be nice if it was HD! Lol! All in all we will keep this hotel in mind for future snowboarding trips!
The hotel is located centrally and the rooms and bathroom were very clean and modern. The check in process was very smooth and the staff very efficient. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of items and the room was kept clean. Definitely would stay here again if in the area.
The hotel is conveniently located. The price was very comparable for the area. The only downside is that you can hear a lot of outside noise in your room. All in all our stay was nice, and if we are in the area would likely stay again. They are doing some remodeling so hopefully the noise problem will be remedied in the near future.
The hotel is fine, with a friendly staff. However, I booked through TripAdvisor, which sent me to Priceline. My reservation was for two queen beds, but when I arrived I was told that exact reservations through a third party could not be guaranteed. We ended up with a king, which was okay, but I will be more careful next time. The breakfast is above the average for most motel/hotels.
The hotel is perfectly located to make our day trips to dwntwn Truckee, Sierra Valley and North Shore Lake Tahoe. The Rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. We were able to bring our bikes in after riding the Legacy River trail and the breakfast was better than our normal free breakfast. Will definitely return!
We loved our stay at this Best Western. The staff were all so friendly and caring. The breakfast had a great selection of food. Even biscuits and gravy. We definitely reccomend! Be sure to check out the huge hot tub and fire pit!!
We stayed overnight for one night at the Best Western This is a very well run BW. We had a king size room on the first floor. It was quiet and very easy to get to from the parking lot The decor was nice with comfy beds, pictures, desk, TV, dresser, coffee maker/microwave/refrigerator. The bathroom had a nice walk in shower. The breakfast in morning was very good - omelets, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, coffee, juice, waffles, etc. The breakfast room is nice size with a TV. The pool is nice in the inner courtyard area. There are plenty of board games available to play while staying there as well. Great staff. A special thanks to the breakfast room man.
I used Trivago to find hotels that will take pets on this family vacation. Best Western handles this with class. This was one of the few Hotels in the Reno area that would take pets for a nominal fee. A little more expensive overall due to the location and proximity to the Lake Tahoe recreational area. Very satisfied with the experience and the Hotel property.
The room was well maintained with very little smell of molds. Breakfast is included. There is a small fridge and bar in the room. It's very family friendly! The only downside, which happens to a lot of hotels, is the drain of the shower was clogged.
Hotel provided a pretty nice stay overall. A bit pricey for what you get, but it is Truckee. Breakfast was superior to most all hotels in this class. Beds have feather down comforters which tend to let feathers pop up, had to pull a few out that were scratchy.
Poorly run and poorly trained staff. Extremely noisy, heard everything from cell phone ringing, to TV playing to people talking in the next room. The room above us had unbelievable noise from the use of their shower. Someone was given our room and walked in on my wife just after she finished a shower.
Of all the reviews I have done, this is without doubt the most difficult to write. Here we go with the positives: _In addition to the title I used above, the place had well appointed clean rooms with free wifi, a fridge and microwave. _The Front Dest Staff was super friendly and extremely helpful answering questions and providing local transit info, etc. _Breakfast is by far the highlite of the stay there. We have visited several of the "chain type" hotels and NONE of them can touch their breakfast whether you compare different types of food items, or quality. Hot, fresh and a large variety. _Bathroom "NIght Light" this is a great idea. It came on in a very pale green when you walked into the bathroom during the night. In essence, you had a very soft "night light" to see with vs the traditional very bright white light during the night. Negatives: _King Bed looked very comfy before we got into it; however, it was TOO soft to the point of sinking down into it. It had some type of "pillow top type pad" on it that was just simply too soft. Next AM I had a significant back ache. _PETS: Dogs of all shapes and sizes staying in people's rooms. NOT one of them I saw would fit into a cage/carrier that any single person could carry, period. In today's times people seem to want their animals (primarily dogs) with them all the time. Only problem is other people are very allergic to dogs including our daughter-in-law who immediately breaks out in severe hives. We know another lady who ended up in the hospital emergency room because the flight before her's in the same plane the traveler had a dog lying in her seat. If you are going to let people travel with dogs/pets, there should be a designated hotel room/rooms for them only. After this, we will now ask all perspective hotels what their pet policy is BEFORE we book there. This is otherwise a nice place to stay but the bed and dog issues brought it down to average at best. You decide
Why Best Western puts 40" LG flat screens in their guest rooms and then only has Analog cable with 38 stations is beyond me. I really dislike watching fuzzy TV, especially paying $200+/night. That is my only big complaint with this specific hotel and the other BW I've stayed at recently. I was in Truckee midweek after school was back in session so it was very quiet at night and in morning. Good location within walking distance of golf course, regional park and trails... beer and wine tasting and at least three restaurants.
Great location and staff! Beds were super comfortable. Would definitely recommed to friends and family in the furture. Close to several shops, beaches, outdoor activities and restaurants. All staff were professional and helpful. Breakfast was very good and loved the coffee selection. Had a great time and will return :-)
As far as Best Westerns go, this one is great - decent rooms, awesome location, clean "enough". But if you are booking right now, in July 2018, think twice. They are doing construction in the hallways, drilling and hammering and dropping heavy things shaking the floors et cetera - all right outside the guest rooms. BANG BANG BANG WHIIIIRRRRRRRRR. It's relentless. I have no idea why they would do this during their high season instead of October when Truckee empties out, but especially given the rates they are charging right now it is a decidedly unpleasant experience. Also, in general the walls are very thin, so if you happen to get a bad neighbor, you're in a bind.
In my opinion, this is a really nice property for this type of hotel. All the staff we encountered were wonderful. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was very clean, except for the toothpaste spatters on the walls of the bathroom near the sink. (I even checked under the bed. Thumbs up to housekeeping!) There were also nice little decorating touches that made it seem more like you were in a resort area. The breakfast was exceptional for this type of property. The hotel is located just a short drive from NorthStar and a short drive from downtown Truckee. We chose to stay here because they did not have a minimum night stay like the resort areas. They did not charge for parking and there was no resort fee. The price of the one night was pretty high though for this type of lodging. If we were staying 2 nights, we would have stayed at NorthStar for just a little more money. We had no problem with noise but the walls seemed pretty thin and at times we could hear our neighbor's TV very clearly. The soft feather mattress toppers were not to my liking but that is just my preference. The refrigerator/freezer was above average in my opinion. Ours worked well and froze our ice packs solid. Also, this is a pet friendly hotel. I believe they keep the pets on the first floor and we had no problems with pet issues in our second floor room. There was no trace of a pet having stayed in our room.
The room was reasonably quiet, except for some next door neighbors who behaved as though they were at an amusement park, but even with such neighbors, the noise was mostly contained and we had a pleasant 4 night stay. The breakfast is good, with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, bagels, and juice, and the breakfast room is ample to accommodate a large group at one time, unlike many other motel chains, where a group of 10 is a crowd. The hotel staff is very nice, especially the cleaning staff, which does a good job. The location is good, a short ride from old town Truckee, and within a reasonable distance of the other towns around Lake Tahoe. It has been a good stay. It's not a 5 star resort, but for what it is your money is well spent.
On a road trip from the Great Lakes area, we stayed in three Best Westerns, startiing in Rawlins, WY. This one in Truckee is by far the nicest, although about $70 more for a standard room. There are some similarities with all of them, but Truckee's was recently remodeled, and it shows. The fixtures and furnishings are clean and modern. Our standard rooms in all of the locations came with the usual amenities found in better hotels, such as a flat screen TV with plenty of channels (including movie channels), AC, wifi, comfortable beds, a fridge, small appliances, a dresser, etc. Not all of the others included a microwave or a small freezer above the fridge, as this one did. The only complaints we had with the room were small: The TV remote didn't work well (maybe needed batteries), there was no printed TV channel guide (since the remote wouldn't scroll through the guide screen by page, we had to select and view stations one at a time), and there was only one sink in the bathroom (a couple of the BWs had two sinks with mirrors). The breakfast and the room it's in was much nicer than at the other locations: The food was nicely presented, and there was a kitchen staff making sure guests were happy. All of the locations offered the same hot food: DIY waffles, scrambled eggs, eggs with veggies and cheese, bacon and sausage. But this location also offered biscuits and gravy and refried beans, as well as a wider variety of beverages. The young women at the front desk were very sweet. The building is attractive, and the surrounding scenery is in a class all its own - quiet, beautiful and fragrant pine woods, attractive residential neighborhood. There are a few nice restaurants right next door, and we had some great sushi at Drunken Monkey. We were just passing through and stayed only one night, but we were glad we chose this hotel.
We had such a great stay here last year, that we came back again this year. The rooms are clean and quiet with a microwave, coffee maker and fridge. Our room was close to where some construction was going on, but we never heard any noise from it. The hot tub was down while we were there, but that didn't bother us. The pool area is nice with a fire pit. We thought the free breakfast was great. The lady doing it does a great job. There were more options than other hotels, such as fresh fruit, salsa for your omelette or scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage too. She presented the food nicely and kept the area clean. Free cookies and water near the front desk and also computer access. We hope to be back next year.
Just a short walk or three-minute drive to the heart of downtown, the location could not be better. The bathrooms are brand new and very upscale - barn door sliding shower door and granite counters. Large fridge and microwave made this almost an apartment. The breakfast area is brand new and immaculate. Watched the World Cup on a giant HD TV while eating a full, included breakfast. Fantastic. Can't wait to return when in the Tahoe area. Highly recommend it!
Very pleasant place to stay. Not within walking distance of old town but there are to eating establishments about 400 ft from hotel. The hotel is clean and staff is very nice Breakfast is a nice buffet. Much of the same choices but refried beans sausage and bacon were nice additions. The breakfast area is larger than many other BW facilities. Nice ambience and comfortable seating
Wonderful beds and very nice room. This hotel is very close to town and some yummy restaurants, breweries and wineries. The breakfast was a little boring on certain days that we were here, but overall pretty good. The staff were all very friendly and that was very much appreciated! I would stay here again.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I made my reservation. I don't usually stay at this brand of hotel. This hotel, however, exceeded my expectations. Check in was easy. I was a little skeptical when I told the receptionist that I had a $10 gift card that I wanted to apply to my room and she told me to email it. She said it would show up as a credit the next morning when I checked out. I was weary but just like she said, I had the credit with no issues. The room was spacious. We had a double queen room. There was a microwave and refrigerator, which I always appreciate. The beds were so comfy and had a topper on it that was so fluffy I could barely sit on the edge of the bed without falling off (which is no complaint). The location was great. We walked to a great restaurant and there were two others in the same location. And for those with the need, there was a car charging station right next door with plenty of stations. I wish we would have had more time to explore downtown Truckee. The breakfast was one of the best I have had in a hotel. There was plenty of hot food with a great selection. There was someone there ensuring everything was clean and filled. The seating area was a little small but that is not really a complaint. Overall, we had a very nice stay at this hotel. We definitely would recommend it to anyone in the area and will definitely stay here again.
Usually stay elsewhere when visiting Truckee. Room happened to be less expensive at the Best Western this trip. Breakfast incredible .... husband loves breakfast, and told the staff “This is the best breakfast we have had in all the hotels we have stayed in. Staff most cooperative and friendly. Will return. Other hotel can't hold a candle to this one.
What a delightful stay! Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet! The staff in the lobby and at breakfast were attentive and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious and more than adequate breakfast. Would absolutely stay here again!!!
Very nice property overall. Rooms are a good size, though next time I would request a room on the second floor as there is some noise if on lower floor. Breakfast was very good overall and the decor of public areas is well done. Check in was easy and the staff was accommodating. Unfortunately, our room was not serviced and when I asked about it, was told that perhaps the room was occupied or the do not disturb sign was on the door. We were out all day and there was no sign. Also, the hot tub was not working which we were looking forward to a soak after a tough hike.
Pretty nice Best Western. My room was a bit on the small side. A double bed with a very comfortable mattress topper. It's pet friendly and breakfast is served at 7 am. Rooms were clean and staff was helpful.
Great pet accommodations. Lots of poop bag stations everywhere. Nice & safe walking locations & areas for dogs to relieve themselves which were well lit at night. Pet charge was very reasonable. Just suggest having some items available for pets such as food & snacks.
Hardest mattress ever. Need to get the Best Western mattresses. That was the reason we chose BW, to sleep in the best mattresses I've ever slept on, only to find out, this location didn't have them. Big disappointment. Rooms had a musty smell. Reserved a king bed room, paid for a king bed room, was told the bed was a king bed, but it was the smallest king bed I've ever seen. (it was a queen bed).
We found this hotel to be very nice. Our room was modern, comfortable, & clean. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast includes hot items like bacon, sausage, eggs, etc. The pool area is also nice.
Hotel is a bit dated, no HD TV and noisier than I expected (bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper). Otherwise rooms are very private, clean and comfortable and this hotel is very dog-friendly. Suggest if you have an anxious dog to ask for a room that is not near an entrance! Nice pool and hot tub in center of hotel and good restaurants right next door. Promotional pricing was excellent for Tahoe/Truckee area and lots to see - love coming to this area.
The Truckee Best Western far exceeded my expectations. They had friendly, knowledgable, helpful staff; very clean rooms; wonderful feather beds; large in-room fridge; in-room coffee maker; extensive complimentary breakfast; free internet; free parking; great location. I will definitely stay here again.
Our room was spacious and very comfortable and very quiet. When you stay in a motel, your goal is to get some sleep, which means that the room has to be quiet, the bed has to be comfortable, the room has to be dark, the temperature has to be just right. This property met all of my criteria and more! The bed had a feather bed topper which was heavenly. I'd never slept on one before but now I'm in the market for one at home. It was that wonderful. The room was very spacious, so much so that our portable dog kennel easily fit in several different places so we could determine which spot would be right for our dog (a German Shepherd so size matters). Breakfast was so much more than I'd expected. There were scrambled eggs, omelets, refried beans, potatoes, sausage, waffles, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, toast and on and on. Since I'm a tea drinker, if the breakfast has Earl Grey tea bags, I'm extra happy. If the breakfast just has generic, one-size fits all "tea" bags, I'm a lot less impressed. We ate dinner in downtown Truckee, a quick four minute car ride. I'd stay here again, recommend it to anyone looking for a very convenient and comfortable place to stay in Truckee.
We stay in the Best Western Plus Truckee hotel quite often during the winter because it is comfortable and close to Northstar. However, I was extremely displeased with their customer service. We weren't able to make it to check-in one Friday night because the roads (i-80) were closed due to spinoffs. We called the hotel to let them know that we couldn't make it tonight but would arrive tomorrow for the second day of our reservation. We also inquired about a refund. The woman working the front desk was really nice and she said to call back the next day to talk to the general manager. We couldn't get a hold of the general manager, Brad after trying several times on Monday morning, and according to the assistant manager Alex, the 'roads were only closed for a few hours on Friday'. I booked this hotel through Expedia, and the customer service agents tried to resolve this issue as well but were unsuccessful. Thoroughly disappointed with the service and will think about staying at the Hampton Suites just up the road next time.
Great location. Clean room. Easy parking. Fast wifi. Several good restaurants to walk too... allow dogs... nice heated pool. Good breakfast. Located at center of Truckee, so near most skiing areas and resorts.
This was a very nice Best Western for many reasons. Some that stuck out were that the front desk was very welcoming and accommodating to give us a room with a pool view. The hotel was either new or nicely remodeled. The pool was heated for all seasons. The hotel even supplied puzzles and board games for families to keep entertained.
We had trouble booking the hotel. I think the staff was new. We also had trouble finding it with our GPS. it is above and out of town. Once we got there the staff were hospitable. The rooms were good size and comfortable. The decor is lodgelike. There was fruit and coffee available. There is a firepit outside and pool and hot tub which we didn't use. The breakfast room was spacious and the food variety very good. This hotel is well maintained and the atmosphere was relaxing. We are rewards members and this is one of the better BW's we've stayed in. It was pricier than most though.
We stayed here for a few nights with our two kids so we could go skiing at both north star and sugar bowl. We were actually pleasantly surprised with the comfortable beds, the updated finishes, the great hot breakfast with lots of options that would please anyone, the proximity to Few good restaurants in easy walking distance (fifty fifty was quite good and has cocktails and great beer!), and easy parking. What we did not like is how noisy our room was as we got a room with a connecting door to an adjacent room and also overlooked the courtyard with the pool and hot tub on the ground floor. There are lots of very inconsiderate and loud people at this hotel (not surprising) I would stay here again if we got a non connecting room (our neighbors blaring tv woke us at 11 pm), on the top floor not overlooking the court yard - live and learn!!
We used the Best Western hotel as a base for travel in the region to Squaw Valley and Reno. Enjoyed the walks, the restaurants and shopping in the town. of Truckee. The B/W breakfast is a very good option.
Stayed here to enjoy Nordic skiing at royal gorge. Hotel was quiet and comfortable. Room was comfortably sized. Staff was nice and polite and they had free Wall Street Journals. There were two restaraunts within close walking distance (although they are not great),
My family was up for a visit for new years, I put a few of them up at BW in Truckee as it was close to our house in Tahoe Donner and the festivities we were attending at Northstar, they loved their stay there. We have done this several times before so it is almost a holiday tradition now, I'm sure we will do it again again. Very nice hotel and close to all Truckee Northstar attractions.
We have stayed multiple times and every time we can count on great service and consistent rooms. The breakfast has been very helpful, one less thing to worry about. The pool, hit tub and fire table are awesome!!
Everything in the hotel was comfortable and well maintained. Breakfast was great each morning before heading up the mountain to ski. Only down side the free shuttle to Northstar did not arrive 2 mornings in a row. Ended up using the TART service which was more reliable.
We chose this hotel as we were two families needing two rooms with 4 people per room, and only staying 3 nights, so not worth booking a VRBO or AirBNB. Location was very close to Lake Tahoe and the pricing was much less than directly on the lake. You could walk to a few restaurants nearby so you didn't need a designated driver. I thought the TESLA charging stations in the parking lot were very high-tech and innovative. Breakfast was only served until 9AM. It is a resort town so that was too early. Hot tub did not work the entire time we were there-3 days. They kept promising that it would be fixed the next day, but the day came and it wasn't fixed. It was one of the reasons we chose this hotel, so we were very disappointed. Internet was spotty from time to time. Selection was decent for breakfast and service was very good and attentive. Hotel was arranged strangely (giant square) and you had to go outside the property for fastest way to our room. Pool and open inside area closed at 10PM and didn't open until 10AM (that is late in the morning). They hounded us at 10PM to leave the area near the pool and fire pit even though we were in the middle of a conversation. I thought they should have offered some kind of concession for the broken hot tub. 3 days is a long time for it to be out of service during high vacation season. They kept saying it would work within 24 hours. I found the front desk a bit unhelpful and not super friendly. I asked a number of questions and they didn't seem to know the answers. The rooms were a bit small, but dark, and were in need of renovation. For the price of the rooms, they should be refreshing the rooms and stepping up the front desk customer service and support.
You could have fooled me that this wasn't an upper scale lodge. Very friendly front desk staff. Amazing full breakfast, but get there before 8am to beat the crowds. Rooms are nicely decorated and beds comfortable. The pool and hot tub are heated- we were in it every day only cold getting in/out. I loved the location which is pretty close to everything but away from all the people swarming downtown. Definitely a great place to stay!!
We went to ski at Northstar and this hotel is less than 10-min away by driving. We got a standard 2 Queen bed room. Room size is within the range as most other hotels. This hotel is close to the central Truckee, where you can find many restaurants.
Overall was okay. $400 a night including tax was a bit too much for this place. But I guess it is what it is. Staff were great. Beds are not that comfortable ( at least for me) . The fair price for this hotel is not more that $99 a night with single bed. Maybe even that is too much.
clean and dust the rooms. There were grammcrackers (not crumbs) and Gatter Aid bottles on the floor, and dust bunnies and feathers under the beds. I don't mean a thin layer of dust a week or month old. I mean layers of dust on the floor and on the gatteraid bottles that had to be months or years old, any time the heater turned on it would kick up a cloud of dust in the room.
Comfortable beds, heated pool to relax in after a hard day's work or play and the staff were great. Close to a really good Thai restaurant. The room was already warm when we got off work, so we did not have to freeze for hours like some hotels, when it is 7 degrees outside. Thanks for the great stay.
Professional staff from the front de d k to the breakfast staff to the maid service. Just wish breakfast went later than 9:00 so we could slerp in. The lighting is minimal. This made it too difficult for me to read.
Nice hotel, clean comfortable bed, nice mini bar set up, will be staying here more often as it's close to Truckee down town kings beach and Tahoe City. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and good quality, because it was included with the room I thought it would be more basic, it was more than that.
Clean rooms. Friendly people. Excellent location. All the things in the room working. Love to go back and also love to refer family and friends. It change of my view of Best Western much much better. Breakfast was awesome too.
Great staff! They were very welcoming and informative! Great facilities! The pool and the hot tub are state of the art! Comfortable room!! Good breakfast! Lot's of variety! Great location next to an awesome brewery and a really good winery!! Great Stay!! We will be back with our dog whenever we are visiting Truckee!
This is the very finest 3 diamond lodging I have ever stayed in. I am 62 years old and have stayed in plenty of motels over 45 years (motel being you park your car near your room). Rooms are very nice and quiet, good bed, nice room amenities. Very professional staff - obviously hotel management graduates. Breakfast is the best non-server meal breakfast in have encountered. Nicely cooked eggs, good breakfast meats, cook your own waffles, numerous juices, coffees, teas. Wayyy beyond Continental breakfast, and equal to a restaurant breakfast. Great motel. I booked next week after 2 nights here (more moving), and will book the following week
This is a lovely hotel close to Truckee. It is within walking distance of the main area of Truckee but there isn't a sidewalk for part of the walk so we drove into town. The rooms were comfortable and quiet.
Staff at front desk are very welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. Outdoor hot tub and pool area are great for relaxing after travelling. Great location with several restaurants within walking distance. Hot breakfast is included with many choices offered. I would recommend staying at this location.
Excellent ,home away from home. Largest hot tub I have seen Perfect to relax those sore muscles from hiking. Less than a mile from downtown but far enough away from the traffic & noise. All afternoon & evening there was fresh fruit & freshly baked cookies available.
they need to clean under the beds. the staff was friendly. nice pool area with an outdoor fireplace--very cool--. the hot tub was large but the jets only worked on one side. some rooms are pet friendly. we haven't had any issues at any of the Best Western Hotels we have stayed at. this is the first time we will give them the benefit of a doubt if are in the Truckee area again. maybe
Really expensive for what you get. The decor is nice and stuff is clean but I had terrible issues with hearing the neighboring room tv - and also slamming of doors. Paid more than 160 - not good for the price.
This is a great place to stay when you're in the area. Perfect location, centrally located, and the property is well maintained. The breakfast is good as is the service. The staff is considerate and friendly.
It is well-organized place to stay for visitors. Free breakfast is pretty alright. There was kind staff made me feel comfortable. Also I saw some kids enjoyed at the hot tub next to pool . If Heater in the room hadn't made a big noise to feel me bugged , it would have been super greater.Overall, pretty good.
Clean room, friendly and courteous staff, excellant value, great location for dining. Would stay here again. Nice breakfast. great parking, easily walk to evening dining. Location is just off the highway just outside Truckee, CA.
We stayed here one night during our cross country drive. It isn't the least expensive place we could have chosen, but it is one of the best we chose. The rooms were well appointed, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the breakfast was to die for. It was also convenient to historic downtown Truckee and the Donner state park. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Great location Close to downtown and great restaurants Breakfast was very good, nice pool and jacuzzi. Easy check in . Quiet hotel except for partying in next room one night. Close to Tahoe and ski resorts. Family friendly and pet friendly
Not expecting much in Truckee, I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel accommodations and its close proximity to the charming town of Truckee. The staff were all very pleasant and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast menu was greatly varied and all the staff were so pleasant to be around.
this is a VERY good Best Western hotel. nice location, very well maintained. rooms clean as a whistle. every convenience in the rooms, fridge, microwave, giant screen TV, coffeemaker, hair dryer, ironing board and iron WiFi etc. VERY comfy bed. the front desk staff are very good except for Mary who is The BEST anywhere! this was my 3rd visit in 3 years and it has consistently been excellent, never any issues at all. Be sure to eat at the Fifty-Fifty brew-pub next door! BTW the hotel is just outside of Truckee BUT is almost an hour away from Lake Tahoe!!!
An excellent hotel to stay! Very nice clean, quiet rooms! The beds were the Best, very comfortable! The pool and grounds were exceptionally nice with awesome fire pits! Pool and (hugh) hot tub was awesome !
Spent over 20 nights in this hotel and everyone of them was great. New General Manger Brad is doing great so far and Carlos has been very helpful. Front desk staff was very nice, accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was good and again the staff was great.
This was a great hotel to stay at. We enjoyed the personal service of the front desk personnel and the decor was great! Really enjoyed our stay here! The breakfast was well presented and the breakfast room was nice and big. The bed was a tad soft, but then I like a firm mattress. Overall, a great stay!
We recently spent three nights in Truckee visiting friends and stayed in this hotel. We were very pleased with everything provided. This is not a new facility, but it has been modernized and well maintained. We appreciated the room size, the comfy bed and the easy chair and ottoman in addition to the desk. The employees were very friendly, and the manager was in evidence everywhere. Breakfast was a large buffet with eggs, both scrambled and hard boiled, bacon, sausage and beans on one occasion. They offered several cold cereals, instant hot cereals, numerous bread choices and fruit salad in addition to juices, apples and bananas. The waffle station worked well too. Thete were cookies in the lobby in the afternoon. The hotel has a pool and hot tub, but we did not use those. There is also a nice firepit for evenings not as cold as the below freezing temps we experienced. The location makes for an easy trip into Truckee, and I 80 is close by if you are headed to Sacramento or Reno. We would definitely return.
Hotel staff was gracious, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding! Rooms clean and nice decor. If we are ever back in the area we will stay here again. Best Western rewards rock. Glad we found the place.
There was no anti-slip rubber bath mat provided. We called housekeeping and were told that they don't provide them. The shower is too slippery to safely stand in while showering. So I don't think this hotel care's about my safety.
nice hotel...good breakfast....but over priced...road out front was having work done...dust all over vehicle...clean rooms...friendly helpful staff....there is no need to have 200 characters in a review...this is extremely too long...
This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel. It has great service and offer quality at an affordable price. It's close to everything. The pool and spa were great for kids and there is a relaxing atmosphere. I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quick comfortable getaway!
Very nice hotel. The front desk employees, 2 young men, were having difficulty assisting me with my free night voucher. They contacted Carlos, the manager I think, and he was very accommodating. Insisted on getting me in my room without having to wait on them to apply the free night voucher. Close to a couple of good restaurants, within walking distance. Would definitely stay again!
We were very comfortable at the Best Western after getting off the PCT for a couple zero days to clean up and relax. Staff was excellent, rooms were clean, pool was cool, breakfast was great. High Sierra Taxi was also excellent at getting us where we needed to be.
Good place to stay. 3 restaurants within walking distance. 1 of the restaurants is a Micro-Brewery. I stayed here twice. Both times the room I was given had a bad odor. The staff apologized and gave me a new room. I suspect the odor is from allowing pets to stay there. Breakfast is great, bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, etc.
Excellent staff, clean, good breakfast with a great variety to choose from and it's also pet friendly. Beautiful scenery and had a few close restaurants, so we didn't need to drive, walked across the street. Definitely will stay again.
This hotel is beautiful. The location is perfect, close to the river and parks. We arrived early and were allowed to check in. The staff was super friendly. The decorations inside the hotel were so cute, vintage skiing equipment and other antiques. Dogs are allowed here although there really isn't a place to let them walk around. The rooms were clean and up to date. The outside pool was nice and had sun all day. The breakfast was open early every day and was fresh. When I go back to Truckee, I'll stay here for sure!!! Great place.
Expensive, stinky and not very clean. This place gets used hard by the public and it shows! Really, are you traveling in the Summer? Just bring a tent and sleep in any National Forest camp ground. Pit Toilets have to be a Step-Up from this place.
This hotel, located in super cool Truckee was cute, had a nice outdoor fireplace area, outside pool and large hot tub. The breakfast was typical Best Western fare, nothing to write home about. Quite expensive for a Best Western, but that is the area. We would stay there again for sure. We had an uncomfortable mattress that we should have addressed upon arrival. Check it out before you keep the room.
We arrived at the hotel today only to find a wait due to noisy road work being done on the road where our entrance to the hotel was.My wife went in to register us and mentioned about the noise in front. The registration person told her that they would give us a room in the back. BW +1. I got a dolly to bring our numerous car contents in to our room. As I am struggling pushing the dolly up to the secure entrance, there was a young gentleman washing the door's glass. He immediately came out to assist me in getting the dolly up and through the door. BW+2. Our room is immaculate for cleanliness. It has two well-appointed queen size beds as requested. We have a few of the swimming pool from our window, but noise is not an issue with the A/C on which we kept on all dayy/night. I recommend giving it a try, I don't think you will regret.
Nice place to stay and fairly close to Downtown Truckee. Even though my stay was not perfect it was very comfortable. We had one issue with the microwave that could have been handled different but overall a nice stay. Check all appliances as soon as you get into your room, just a good practice I guess. Nice pool and hot tube area, pretty quiet and well kept. we stayed mid-week.
Very clean and friendly. Best free breakfast I've ever experienced. Very centrally located in the Tahoe/Treckee area. High quality food and drink next door. Great hot tub. Would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!
Love the pool and really really big hot tub here. Also the fire pits and the large seating area was a pus! Definitely a family place. We stayed here for a tournament in Incline Village. Location was perfect. Free Breakfast was wonderful. Staff was pleasant and the warm cookies were a plus. Rooms were clean with plenty of space. This was a decent hotel.
Upon entering we were shown a room but we wanted a room by the pool, so we waited. We were able to get the room. Everything else went smoothly. Breakfast was great. Room was quiet. Even people in the pool promptly left when it was 10 pm. All in all, great place. However, we really do wish they would bring back the 4 cup coffee pots. The Keirigs just aren't good. We found a good Chinese restaurant and a brewing house to have dinner. Both good places.
We had the pleasure of staying three days at BW Truckee hotel. Staff was very hospitable. Breakfast was complete and staff very caring. Very nice and quiet stay at hotel. Even though we were close to pool, the people all left at 10 pm like clock work. No problems whatsoever. Sorry we couldn't stay longer.
Great location. ,Truckee nice and Lake Tahoe 30 mins drive. Only negatives = air-cod noisy/too cold - couldn'tl get it to right temp so left it off. No onsite bar or restaurant but 2 restaurants nearby (foot). Near to freeway. Good pool and gym onsite.
I had a fairly UNPLEASANT, stay at Best Western PLUS, Hotel Truckee Tahoe located on 11331 Brockway Road, Truckee, CA 96161. My Co-Worker and I were driving through the area as we have always every two months (Co-worker, 15 years) and tried BW as we had stayed there numerous times in the past years. In March of this year we were informed that there were no “State employee rooms “available, even though our other Co-workers were given rooms later that same night, by calling BW Reservations Worldwide. This time upon arrival we were again informed that there were no rooms for “State Rate Employees” by the desk clerk Mary (Same clerk prior). I then contacted BW Reservations Worldwide and was given two rooms at the BW Truckee Tahoe, while sitting in thier parking lot, right after being told that they had ZERO rooms. After checking in later that day, I unpacked my belongings and got ready for a swim. I noticed that there was no iron and the toilet did not function. I called twice to the front desk and had no answer, so I went down and informed the evening desk clerk (Joel) of my situation. “We have no maintance and that I really didn't need to Iron my clothes” and that I had to move to another room (Even though being told that they had no room). He then stated that I was a “Diamond Select Member” and stated “Do you want me to shine your shoes?” I said “Yeah right”, and his answer was “That ain't going to happen”. He then said that I will get the best room they had (wrote it on my key card sleeve ”BEST ROOM”). After packing up and unpacking, I noticed that it was a handicapped room with no place to sit, and no shower curtain, and 50 foot to get water to make coffee. Also there were no towels at the pool side so I had to go to my room and use that towel. My opinion is that there must have been a New Management within the last three years.
Upon arrival had to wait for a short time for a desk person to check in. The room given was nice but had an unpleasant odor at soon as you opened the door. To be fair we were traveling with our pet but they should really try to remove bad pet odors before offering rooms. This hotel is expensive for what it is. The breakfast was above average.Convenient location close to I-80.
Our stay at the BW in Truckee was great! Great location, breakfast excellent. Bed was comfortable. Location was perfect. Just wish we could have stayed longer. We will return for a longer period next time.
This location had not only clean rooms, but also an amazing firepit that at least 15 people could sit around. They also have a very large hot tub. Both were great for enjoying the evening.I also appreciated the security of this property having inside corridors and not having the rooms accessible from the parking lot.
Good value and great employees. Clean rooms and common areas. Free breakfast is great and Wifi is fast. Central location to the activities in Truckee and Northstar. I would recommend this property to friends and family.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect. The location, the staff, the room, all perfect. There were absolutely no issues with the room or anything else. I rate this as my favorite hotel.
This was our first time staying. The staff was super friendly, both check in and out. We did not have a lot of time to really enjoy the facilities. The pool is centrally located, and visible from the hallways. The breakfast was self serve, hot items available. We liked the location, not too far from the highway and a little more outdoor scenery vs buildings. The bed was soft and comfortable. The room was clean, no odors in the pillows.
After a 5 week holiday and many nights staying in Best Western Hotels, we were not really impressed with this hotel and overall could not really recommend it based on our experience. On arrival the blonde girl (didn't get her name) did not welcome us with a smile or any friendly greeting at all. She did not give us our room requests until we mentioned it and then said she hadn't looked. She then changed our room. She was not courteous or friendly. The Asian lady who was on the front desk shortly after and was still there in the morning was very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the top floor with a view of a timber wall. The room was clean but the bed and pillows were the most uncomfortable in 5 weeks by far. The layout of the hotel is like a rabbit warren and the decor is dark. Breakfast was usual Best Western with paper plates and plastic cutlery but there was a dog in the dining room, not on a lead. The pool area was clean and attractive. There were fresh baked cookies in the pm. Free wifi. Although this hotel is a short drive to downtown Truckee and there are some nice places for dinner next door, it all feels like you are in the middle of nowhere.
This hotel was beautiful and the place was amazing. the room was very clean and fresh. The staff were nice and helpful. We would stay there again. In fact we are planning another trip to the area and this is the place to stay. we enjoyed this hotel and everything was great
Wonderful location and service! Highly recommend this hotel as it really is a Best Wester PLUS! We travel here twice a year and stay here alone and with dogs when we plan a few days! We will return again our next trip!
When we go to Truckee we always stay here. Great location, close to all the ski resorts and for summer fun we love renting bikes at the base of Squaw and riding to Tahoe City. The breakfast is simple, easy, and love that its included. The pool is great and I love the new hot tub. The outdoor area is a great place to sit after a long day of play. My only suggestion would be hi-def t.v. That seems pretty standard now...
Upon check in we were given keys to a room that was ALREADY OCCUPIED. Imagine the shock to both the occupant and me and my family as we opened the door. When I went back to the front desk, the woman working simply said "whoops...I wonder how that happened. Here try this room." The room was advertised as a 2 Queen bed room. But the beds were NOT queen size, simply double beds. While the outside pool area was nice with the outdoor fire pit, pool and oversized jacuzzi, the inside of the hotel including the rooms were not what I expected for the price I paid at $300/night. We were there for a Lacrosse tournament which I suspect was sufficient reason to jack up the nightly rate. Overall I felt ripped off.
Room was generally clean but housekeeping was terrible! First day, bed was made, clean towels were provided, however, used towels were left on shower floor and I had to try to get someone to come and get them. Do not know if bathroom was even cleaned. Finally left them on the floor outside door. Third day, had to call someone to clean the room in the afternoon. Door leading from the parking lot, which you are supposed to have to use your room key to open, was unlocked the whole time we were there. Would not stay here again.
i stayed one night on a monday this june (2017). the check-in experience was the best i ever had anywhere, the front desk agent named mary was marvelous. my handicap-accessible room was excellent. it was well-furnished, had every amenity such as fridge, microwave, iron/board, hair dryer, free wifi, giant screen TV etc. large bathroom, spotlessly clean. the bed was comfy with nice and very clean linen. the whole room was spotless. and quiet.. nice brewpub and restaurant next door. i only gave it 4 stars not 5 because it is nor like a fairmont nor ritz carleton. of course it is also a small fraction of the cost of those super-deluxe hotels. but foir what this hotel is supposed to be, a very nice best western, i give it a ten on a scale of ten within that class of hotel.
We stayed here during a motorcycle trip through the Sierra. The hotel was easy to locate. The hotel was very well maintained and the room comfortable. WiFi worked well. Overall, would highly recommend this property
We enjoyed the courtyard, where the pools and a fireplace are located. The heated pool and hot tub are very nice. The hot tub is the perfect temperature--not too hot like some hotels, and it's as big as a lap pool.
We chose this motel above Truckee, because it allows dogs Giving me chocolate chip cookies when I arrive is a pleasant plus, and the pool was very warm (and pool towels were supplied). It has a long spa pool with even hotter water the same length as the pool. Comfortable bed with a very thick extra comforter, fast and reliable WiFi even though we were far from the front desk (and farther from street noise). There was a pretty good Thai restaurant, plus a Japanese one and a brewery one just across the street, plus a golf course and a pedestrian trail at the edge of the golf course. The only minus was trying to gather up the large, formless pillows into something that would raise my head a bit from the mattress.
Nice place , room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Our dogs love the place. This was our second trip. We will go again it was a good value for the price. Two good place for dinner right across the parking lot.
We were here in the off season. Not too much snow but not very warm either. The hotel was not crowded and we wanted a second floor room so that no one was above us (limits noise). They didn't have any king rooms on the second floor and two queen rooms cost about $40 more. So we asked for a room with no one staying above us. The clerk was very nice and found a room but...it was right by the stairway so it was very noisy with people walking up and down stairs. I guess she didn't understand. The breakfast was adequate. The room was clean. It's a good location for a river walk and getting to downtown Truckee
Had to spend an unexpected night in Truckee and needed last minute affordable lodging, and Best Western did not disappoint. Desk clerk was extremely welcoming and helpful, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and all of staff was really helpful and hospitable. Breakfast buffet was also excellent. Thank you.
I've never been disappointed wth Best Western sleep or conference rooms. Whenever I travel for work, BW is my first choice. I can rest assured the staff will be accommodating and the stay will be comfortable.
It's in a convenient location. The staff were friendly, courteous, and accommodating. The room was clean and quiet. The continental breakfast was surprising good with a large selection of foods. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.
We find the Best Western to be a great location when going to ski at Northstar. It is only a 10 minute drive to the mountain and walking distance to several restaurants. Their breakfast is totally adequate and a nice extra when getting ready to ski, saving time and being very convenient. We appreciate that their are small refrigerators in the room. The beds are very comfortable with nice sheets and squooshy pillows. Our only complaint was the lack of water pressure in the shower making the operation a bit unpleasant and rinsing difficult. We stayed here last year and will likely stay when we return for our next little ski adventure, unless we take advantage of the lake this summer, in which case, we might return sooner.
Stayed here with my family for a short ski trip to Northstar which was only 10 minutes away. PROS: updated large room, adequate drawers for clothing, bathroom counter with open shelving for our stuff, hooks on back of bathroom door, ski hangers, adequate parking, good breakfast, clean and comfotable bed (but husband thought it was too soft), and available luggage cart. CONS: Dim lighting (only 3 lamps), loud refrigerator (turned it off), only 1 elevator for entire hotel, not too quiet (ice maker across hallway and could hear voices outside at night).
We had to find a room for extra day we stayed at North Star area because it was snowing and my husband wanted to ski once more so I checked online for BW and found available for one night that we needed. Checked it at 2:30 and room was ready then we just stayed in all night relaxing and watching TV. Next morning had that lovely breakfast and was very impressed with the food choices . We had to clean off lots of snow on the car before we headed out to go home.
My family and I were greeted by friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. Jill greeted us from the Front Desk when we arrived. She listened to us and answered all our questions about the hotel and local area. All the amenities were well kept and in good repair, from the fitness room to the pool. The breakfast was better than we remembered from our previous visit, with fresh fruit and make-your-own waffles. My family and I appreciate the staff for all they did to make our visit a positive experience. We look forward to future visits.
Very nice hotel, kind employees, location is in a great spot if you like to go skiing or too just enjoy the beautiful town of Truckee, I recommend the best western. Even after your done enjoying the town, the hotel has a great hot tub for when you return!
We've stayed here a few times before and liked it, but.... seems they've redone their beds. At least the ones we slept in. They were so fluffy (comically so) that we all had backaches and barely any sleep. They were bulging up so much in the middle so we had to be careful not to fall off while sleeping. So weird. I guess the plan was to have ultra comfy beds, but the effect was the opposite. Anyways, besides that, it's a good place in a good location. Clean, free breakfast. Doubt we'll be back after 2 nights of terrible sleeps.
Staff is great at helping out all travelers. The hotel is clean and the kids LOVE the option to swim year round outside. It's near several ski resorts, so you don't spend tons of money while trying to ski.
Appears to be newly remodeled/renovated. Quiet overall and comfortable beds. Staff was geat to work with and responsive to questions and requests for guidance. Rooms were clean and while we did not have pets, there were numerous people who did have pets and the hotel seemed more than happy to accomodate the pets.
Like a lot of Best Westerns the entrance lobby and corridors were gloomy I don't know if it's the carpet or the lighting perhaps both. However the room was lovely well furnished and spacious. we waited ages to check in as we were stuck behind a large group of contractors checking in one at a time and no one else came to help out at the front desk.. things did improve after this. The hotel is clean and well located with a great Thai restaurant right next door we went both nights. Convenient five minute drive into downtown Truckee and about 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe. We would stay here again quite happily.
This has always been a great stay, every other month.I have always given this Hotel great remarks on their site. This time when I went too check in, I was informed my stay will cost myself ( a Diamond Select member) and co-worker (who has stayed at this Hotel for 15 yrs, Under different managements/names) an out of pocket of $35.00 per night. I was also informed that another State agency ( whom my agency falls under) Will receive the state rate because they are under contract (stated by the Assistant General Manager). This I find unfair, given our constant stays over the years. I have even brought my family, with normal prices, and at higher winter rates. Given these circumstances I find that I can no longer recommend this Hotel at this time
They are wonderful and very accomodating. They were very polite and even dealt with a miscommunication on my part extremely well. Close to Truckee where you can get a good meal and a nice walk. If you like soft beds then this is the place for you.
My dog & I stayed here for 2 nights in October of 2016. I was happy with the friendly staff, free breakfast, & comfy bed. The walls are VERY thin though--I could hear every single word when people were talking in the room next to me. Also, the $20 pet fee PER DAY is a bit steep. I spent $400 total for 2 nights (for 1 person), which I think is high for a mid-level hotel in off-season Truckee. But the overall stay/room/property was fine, & the location very good.
The room was very clean and the motel is located so that there is no road noise thus quiet. The room-two queens was adequate with a refrigerator and mircowave. The shower had great water pressure. The beds were comfortable, pillows should be replaced soon. The "free" breakfast was very good; eggs, sausage. waffles with toast etc.I would stay here again if I was traveling through the Truckee area.
We were very surprised at the location, close to downtown Truckee, walking distance to trails and the river. It was a clean and quiet hotel, with friendly staff and charming lodge style decor. We would come back and stay here because of its proximity to Northstar.
This place was great. Traveling for a wedding, everyone said "oh you haaAAAaave to stay in a big rental house, its cheap, just stay there with 10 other people". well excuse me millennials, I have a job, and like staying in my own room... I had to stay here with my wife and kids, but close enough. The hotel was great, wonderful breakfast, close to everything. Very nice pool too. Just stay here, its very nice and better than sharing a room with your 10 best friends... this isn't college anymore.
Had a nice stay at this hotel but for the missing phone in the room. The GM actually helped out by providing the phone from his room but the phone jacks in the room did not work. He did take $50 off my room bill though, which was nice. Full breakfast was good. Eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, juice, coffee etc.. Better than average in my opinion. Room was very nice with micro, frig with separate freezer (not inside like most) bar sink. Nice bath with auto fan when one was in the bath.
Loved the easy road access to the hotel and the availability to use public transportation to downtown Truckee which had serious parking issues while we were there. Additionally we liked that there was a really nice brewery right next door with a very good food selection.
We love Truckee. It's a quaint town with a great park (Donner State Park), water and mountains. AND years ago we found the Best Western Hotel. This summer we headed that way and once again stayed at the Best Western Plus. It's even better than it was. It was quiet with friendly staff. A satisfactory breakfast. Comfortable beds and best of all a HUGE hot tub-- and I mean the largest I've ever seen! We spent the afternoon around and in the pool and hot tub and totally enjoyed the first day of our trip. The only problem: One night was not long enough. So, we have made reservations and are heading back over there for several nights in October.
Our truck broke down on the way to San Fran and we needed a place to stay while the auto repair place tried to find a part. A person at the repair shop recommended the Best Western. It turned out we needed to stay 2 nights. We were totally bummed out because of our situation but Mary, the front desk clerk, was sympathetic and kept telling us things would get better. Her positive attitude made us start to feel a little better. Our room and bathroom were immaculate and had all the amenities needed. The breakfast was excellent. The food was fresh and re-stocked often. Make your own waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, breads, cereal, juices...everything you could possibly want. There is a wonderful pool area and also an outside sitting area where you can sit in the sun and take in the scent of pine trees. Mary gave us great information about places to eat within walking distance. The Fifty Fifty Brewery (see separate review on this) turned out to be a favorite destination. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel to everyone. PS. On our trip home, we realized we were missing a very expensive piece of medical equipment. I started calling all the hotels we stayed at on our trip asking if housekeeping had found something in a room. When I called the hotel, Judith, who took my call, said she would call me back the next day regardless of whether they found the item or not. And she did, Yes! My missing item was turned in by the Housekeeping staff. Judith arranged to have my missing item mailed back to me within 2 days. Thanks to everyone at this hotel. You took customer service to the highest level and it was greatly appreciated.
My friends and I spent the Labor Day holiday @Lake Tahoe. We booked the hotel only a week in advance, the price was quite reasonable. The hotel is around 15 minutes' drive from Lake Tahoe. The room was very clean and the bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast was free with a lot of choices (waffle, cereal, bagel, bread, yoghurt,....).
This hotel was completely perfect. The room was quite large and excellently presented. The hotel is only a few minutes away from historical Truckee and a short drive to Lake Tahoe. Breakfast was great with a variety of food to choose from. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with all our queries. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Truckee.
Stayed this last weekend and had a very nice room and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept on in a long time. Grounds are well kept, room was very clean, and it was quite. The free breakfast was just OK and the area got crowded, so we left and went into town to Jax at the Trax. The breakfast is about like a buffet at Hampton Inn. It's good to feed the kids, but if you want something a little nicer go into town. I would stay here again. In fact, I just reserved five rooms for June since we are headed back up for a family wedding.
I spent the past weekend in Truckee for my little sister's wedding. We stayed at this hotel and it was actually very nice. The staff was very kind and helpful and the rooms were nice as well. I also liked that it is pet-friendly even though we didn't bring ours. The only two minor complaints that I had were that the scrambled eggs seemed over-cooked and hard to eat. The other was that the picture on the TV would get fuzzy every now and then. Despite those two things, it is a very nice hotel that I would gladly stay at again and highly recommend to others.
Had a lovely 2 night stay at hotel. Nice decor and get location to town and to ski resort. Most amazing comfy bed. Beautiful central patio with very nice hot tub and pool. Will come again but hopefully in the wintertime next visit.
This was a quiet, clean hotel with friendly staff. We only spent one night but we're pleased with the hotel itself. The wifi was a bit wonky, dropping the connection often which was frustrating when trying to communicate with family via text or email. The hotel offers a full breakfast which was very good. The location is close to South Lake Tahoe. Overall good stay.
Arrived late at night...great room, right by the pool. Beautiful landscape. Good shower and bed. Only negative was fan is on a motion sensor ( bathroom) and stayed on a while..a little loud. But I'd rather have a fan then not. Good breakfast ...lots of choices. Great location, right outside of downtown Truckee and close to Tahoe.
This hotel is very lovely. It's located just outside of downtown Truckee, the first/last town on the California side of the Californa-Nevada border. The hotel is designed like a lot of the houses and buildings in the area, so it doesn't look out of place. The rooms are very spacious, and very comfortable. The rooms are kept very clean, and the appliances are very modern. My biggest complaint is that when I checked in with my family, there was a bit of a mix up regarding the type of room we reserved. We reserved a room with two king sized beds. First, we were given a room with one bed (which is just as lovely and spacious as the rooms with two beds). We were then given the keys to a room that someone was already staying in, as made evident by us walking into the room filled with people's belongings all over.
We arrived at 11:00 pm to the cabin we had reserved to stay in and the key did not work nor did the garage door code open the garage. We tried everything to no avail. We had our son and daughter in law with us as well as their 2 children. It was so dark and frustrating and the kids were exhausted and we needed to call it a day. We contacted the Best Western in Truckee and they were so accomodating and gave us a great rate for the night. We truly were in need and she helped us out big time! The room was a perfect set up for us and we were so appreciative. The beds were comfortable, clean and had a microwave and fridge which was very handy since we had some perishable items that needed a fridge.
Excellent location and the most comfortable beds! Perfectly situated approx 20 minutes from Tahoe City and a few minutes from downtown Truckee. The hotel has a full breakfast, which frankly could be improved. They offer tea and coffee as well as cookies in the lobby at check in. The car park is convenient and the art work in the hallways is beautiful. The size of our room was enormous as was the size of the bathroom. Highly recommend!
The location of this hotel is a starting off point for all things on the California side of Lake Tahoe. It is close to all the 101 things to do in Lake Tahoe during the summer. It is 10-20 minutes drive away from all the major ski areas that have great eating establishments and activities for children and adults. The staff is very professional and friendly. The breakfast area is large and even has a small lounge area that we used to scan the magazines and read our books during the day. It is walking distance to 3 very good restaurants and a trail that leads you to a golf course and a park. The rooms are very comfortable and updated. It is pet friendly. Will return in winter to see if it is convenient to drive to ski resorts from this hotel.
Very good stay of three days. With 10 rooms reserved as "pet friendly". It was very convenient. Very close to all services. Excellent breakfast. Very nice pool and spa. both ADA compliant Only complaint was wooden floors which can be noisy.
We enjoyed our stay at Best Western Truckee, CA. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast. Staff was very courteous and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel. Location of the hotel was very good.
We were hear for 2 nights with short notice. The staff was outstanding - friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They offer breakfast with many selections. There is a small fitness room that is about what you would expect.
We normally stay at Lake Tahoe but decided to spend a night in Truckee. This gave us more opportunity to explore the great number of hiking trails around Donner Summit. The Best Western was great. Friendly staff, let us check in early, comfortable accommodations, quiet room, decent fitness center, great pool and spa and great brkfst. And also the free cookies in the afternoon were a nice touch
This hotel is an excellent option in the Truckee and Donner areas. The beds are comfortable, breakfast is good, and everyone loved the huge hot tub. It is very family friendly and is in a great location close to Truckee.
Stayed her for the first time and was very pleased. Room was clean and the facility was kept up nicely. Breakfast was good but cafeteria is a little small. Pool and Spa are large and the fire pit would be great for the winter. Overall very happy with our stay.
we travel a lot but I must say this hotel is first class and the bed was the best we ever slept on! The hotel was clean, elegantly furnished and first rate. Sadly we missed breakfast but the apples in the lobby were nice and they have great coffee!
For a BW not a bad hotel. Rooms are big and done nice. Good location about a mile outside of Truckee. and has breakfast included. Staff very nice and accommodating. Cons, rooms surround pool so watch for being put by the doors or ask for 2nd floor
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Bed and pillows were great. But the most important thing to me is that it was clean. Even the rug was nice. Plenty of towels and amenities. Cookies and fruit in the lobby. Breakfast in the morning is included. You can get hot things like scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage. Also the usual like breads, toast, bagels, cereal and waffles and oatmeal. I wish we could stay here longer as it is very comfortable. Will be back when I can stay for a longer time. Stay here. You won't be disappointed.
Great location to downtown Truckee... and clean enough (some of the decorative bed pillows need cleaning). Consider flipping mattress so you don't feel like you are rolling downhill this would make for a much better experience otherwise not bad in a pinch.
In Truckee this is my go to hotel. They just finished a remodel so everything is new. Nice breakfast, comfortable beds and pretty quiet. Some great restaurants within a quick walk inc. a brew pub, sushi and thai food. Very nice staff.
Love to stay at the Truckee Best Western. Great location. Very nice rooms. The staff very friendly and helpful. We love the pool and fire pit. Location is perfect. Close to town and not far from King's Beach and Lake Tahoe.
Stayed here before and it was great and it's still great, make sure you get an up stairs room as for the creeping floors will keep you awake if your a lite sleeper, other than that very comfortable and spacious, definitely will stay again if in the area.
this was a business trip and the amenities were terrific as well as the central location to all activities and restaurants I would definitely recommend this hotel as I will stay again anytime I am in the Truckee / Tahoe area
Excellent facilities, great breakfast, nice location along with excellent customer service. Price was right and better product than a comparable Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn in the area. The internet worked fine, decent Gym, two outdoor pools with new furniture. The breakfast area was cozy with great variety of food
We've stayed here a couple of times in the past few years and only had a pleasant experience, on and off season. The staff is professional, helpful and they make a good breakfast that includes hot foot not bad coffee and is somehow wonderfully included with the room (at the time of our stays) and runs for a nice span of time to appease early risers and late sleepers alike. (Bring a couple bucks to slip into the breakfast crews tip jar.) Front desk/check in & out and reservations have been a breeze and special requests always fulfilled. Room furnishings on point. Housekeeping does an excellent job keeping it all looking clean and fresh. Walking distance to good dinner options. Highly recommend.
This motel was great. The beds were awesome. Slept like a rock! Good breakfast and always full of food, no waiting. Pool area is nice. Even has a fire pit. The entire staff was awesome. No complaints.
Liked everything about the stay: good breakfast, nice rooms, whole property well maintained and very clean.... friendly staff as well. Would recommend to anyone needing to stay overnight in Truckee. Cookies and apples at the arrival a nice touch
Clean, quiet room, plenty of usable space, comfortable beds. Walking distance from Fifty Fifty Brewing for good food and beer. If I come back to Truckee, Best Western Plus Truckee / Tahoe is where I'll stay.
Plusses: Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Minuses: Facility is old and outdated with problems in spite of re-modelings over the years. Way overpriced. Phone did not work. Shower arrangement is such that you cannot turn on water to adjust temp without getting wet and cold. A/C did not work even after maintenance came to work on it. Carpet was damaged and unsightly at entry way. Floors creaked. This was the most expensive BW of our entire vacation and we expected so much more. Probably will not come back.
Very nice place. Front desk staff were very friendly, room was clean and quiet. Nice breakfast. My favorite thing was the motion detector night light in the bathroom! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the noise of the plumbing and air conditioner. Otherwise 2 thumbs up!!
Highly recommend!!! a Best Western PLUS that lives up to Best Western Plus standards. An older Motel but very well maintained. Mary at the front desk was extremely helpful and pleasant. Great room and very good full breakfast Will gladly stay here again.
This trip included 16 family and extended family members from four states for a funeral, which can be a very stressful time. This was a very relaxing property for the entire group. The staff was friendly, informed and friendly. The property and rooms are very comfortable and the price was very reasonable. Having breakfast each day allowed us to extend our time together as a family. Will definitely recommend to others and would return if the opportunity arises.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly staff at the front desk. We were checked in a directed to our rooms..When we got to the room it was a nice surprise to find two comfortable beds, a refrigerator, coffee machine and adequate towels and washcloths for our needs...All in all I would recommend this location to friends and family...
Jill at the front desk, really brightened our day. She went out of her way to help us with a couple of problems we had while traveling. She is efficient, fast, and conveys such energy and positivity that she lights up a room. She is friendly and welcoming, and is a total "stand out."
The front desk receptionist was so pleasant to deal with - I hope she is treated well - her name is Jill It seems now days you don't find such friendly workers as you used to. I would recommend this hotel.
My stay was made very pleasant by the cheery check in and check out personnel. The room was in good order and all facilities were in working order. It was in off season and not very full so the wifi worked well. A couple of good eating establishments were located next door within walking distance. Overall a very good experience.
beautiful area Truckee, Ca and a clean rooms and very friendly staff I have stay @ multiple hotels in the area including the Hampton but I always choose to return to this convenient and comfortable hotel
This is a nice hotel and good value. It is a little out of the way but fortunately there is an excellent brewpub two minutes walk from there. You are close to the freeway but far enough away to be quiet. The breakfast was typical of this type of hotel and suited me fine for a day out in the Sierras.
Fabulous location above town. Recently renovated. Rooms are well maintained. Courteous and helpful staff. Breakfast area is well kept with huge selection. Area is quiet and lose to Lake Tahoe. Computer area in lobby well equipped.
Location, location, location... and besides being close to the magnificent Lake Tahoe, this Best Western was a delight in itself. Fabulous breakfast, incredible courtyard with huge spa, pool and the longest outdoor fire 'pit' I have ever seen. Great place to relax from hiking or skiing or driving. Clean, comfortable, courteous staff. A great value. Would definitely stay here again.
We have a sibling trip each year and chose Truckee due to a nephew who works at Squaw Valley. This was the perfect hotel for us to have our moments of sharing and remembering. I would have liked the hot tub to be in doors or covered but that was the only complaint.
We stayed here this past weekend (Squaw is open till May 30) with our border collie for her first trip to the snow. The pet-friendly rooms are located towards the back of the hotel and are limited so we made sure to call and confirm prior to check-in. There are also newly renovated, non-pet guest rooms upstairs and in other parts of the hotel, which I've heard are very well appointed. We stayed here several seasons ago when the hotel was very under construction and they have done awesome job! The previous hot tub was tiny and the new one is at least 25'-30' ft long and super clean. The pool is also heated! There's also a large fire pit located in the back of the pool area which is the perfect spot to have a glass of wine or relax with friends. The pet fee was $20 per night and very reasonable compared to other pet-friendly hotels in the area like the cedar house sport house that also allows dogs (great restaurant/comp breakfast). We also brought an exercise pen to crate our dog if left unsupervised but it was never needed. If you have dogs (or dogs that can't be trusted off-leash like mine!), I highly recommend visiting the fenced, 2-acre Tahoe Unleashed Dog Park at the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista. It's only a 20-minute drive from the hotel and up the street from the lake so it's a win-win on location for activities! The park offers an area for large dogs (>25lbs) and small dogs (<25lbs). There's many hiking trails in the area and a 3/4 mile trail that runs right by the dog park for an on-leash walk. Visit dog-friendly Coon Street beach in Kings Beach afterwards! Steamers and Jason's Beachside grill also have dog friendly patios. Thanks to the front desk staff who checked us in at 2am Friday night and the lady who approved us for a late check-out at noon although it wasn't needed. I do like the suggestion for a designated, fenced dog run for them to do their business and maybe changing up the eggs at breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to others and will stay here again when in the Truckee area, traveling with dogs or skiing Squaw (25-30 min drive away).
I found the staff friendly and helpful. We were stranded due do to snow and the positive attitude of the staff really helped make a bad situation better. The rooms were nice, breakfast decent, and the area was beautiful.
We really like this hotel when we go Snowboarding. The rooms are very clean and comfortable beds. The hotel staff is super friendly and helpful. The pet friendly policy is a big plus. The breakfast before heading out for a day is great. This time though the quality of the eggs was not so good. Not sure if it was just an overcooked batch. There are plenty of other good choices though.
I travel alot for work and have to use the wifi, but this hotel makes that a challange. The upload speed is only 0.62 MPS and stops working all the time. The rooms are some of the best around. But the eggs are made from powder or something. Other than those complaints the many stays I have had here have been great. The main reason I am writing this review is for the internet. It is so bad im doing this review on my phone rather than my laptop...
Overall experience was good, rooms were clean. Perfect for a family stay. The breakfast was not great, quality was not great and there very few options to choose. With the price charged would recommend improving breakfast quality
My husband and I stayed here with our dog on a recent ski trip. The room set-up was great. Bathroom with tub was separate from a small kitchen nook with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and counter where I made sandwiches to take to the ski resort for lunch. Comfortable beds, large flat screen TV with good channels. Outside in central quad/patio: heated pool, extra large hot tub, and gas fire pits. Close to Hwy 80 for quick access to many ski resorts. Breakfast was substantial: real scrambled eggs, sausage, home fried potatoes, cereal, etc. stack of Wall Street Journals, coffee from Carmel Valley Roasting Company. Friendly, responsive staff. We will probably return to this hotel for our next ski vacation.
Well thought-out room layouts with spaces for skis, etc. My bed was lumpy and asymmetrical but it was comfortable. They have a decent fitness room that was not listed on the Best Western web site. Nice large breakfast area with a better than average spread.
This best Western has been around for awhile. it's proximity to Northstar resort and Lake Tahoe make it a good alternative to the pricey resort and lakeside hotels. You can be at the lake or Mountain in minutes. Beds have really nice feather beds for a comfy sleep, and a full breakfast is included, a nice convenience. Lots of board games for families and kids, a pool and hot tub as well. Pleasant staff, fast internet included, and close to Truckee as well.
Stayed at this hotel during my ski trip to Northstar. Room and service was excellent. The best thing is how convenient the hotel is to Northstar ski area. The complementary breakfast is a very good start to the day
We recently visited our family in Truckee, California, staying at the Best Western Truckee for eleven days. Our entire stay was delightful. Staff — all staff — were helpful, courteous and informative. Our room was always well cleaned and more-than-adequately supplied when we requested it, and left alone when we requested that. The breakfast provided by BWT was terrific. It was always available early in the morning, with fresh coffee pots continuously filled. The kitchen, despite serving many guests (including lots of kids) was clean, well-lit and welcoming. And again, the staff were particularly helpful. We would absolutely return to the BWT.
Where do I start......super friendly and helpful staff! Beautiful location and located easily next to restaurants, pubs and local businesses. Clean and very comfortable rooms with awesome beds! Very nice breakfast bar as well! Very good wifi connection!
I know the hotel well, having stayed there three nights a week for three years in the late 90's. For this two night stay, my brother-in-law joined me for a three day ski trip which included visits to Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows and Northstar. All resorts are within about a 30 minute drive to the hotel, with Northstar at only 10-15 minutes. The remodeled hotel is very nice, clean and friendly. Unlike my previous stays, there are also a couple of restaurants next door, though we elected to eat in town, which is only 5 minutes away by car. The remodeled rooms focused, primarily, on the bathrooms, which were well done. Beds are very comfortable. I, particularly, liked having two luggage racks, something you rarely find, even at the nicest hotels. The price for a two queen room was very reasonable compared to the rest of the Tahoe Basin. This hotel will always be one of my favorites.
Good place. we enjoyed our stay, as did our large dogs. Breakfast is good, but get there early; the hotel is busy with guests. Some folks, with dogs, should care more as their dogs barked, when left in the rooms and the people went out.
Great accommodation for family travel. Room was spotless and comfortable and appeared recently renovated, new towels. Close to downtown and 30 minute drive to Squaw. Would definitely stay here again. Free breakfast was included.
Booked last min reasonable price for the timing. Very central in Trukee. Clean comfortable and very good /helpful staff. Free breakfast Really nice fire pit large very large hot tub. Good sushi Resturant (drunken monkey and a micro brew Resturant next door Would stay again
The hotel was quiet and comfortable with a good breakfast (eggs, waffles, sausages, potatoes, cereal, etc). They do allow pets, which is not listed in any attention getting way on the website, so remember this if you can't tolerate animals. My son has an allergy to dogs and asthma, so it is important to know. Our room was clean and we didn't have dogs near us, as staff tried to accommodate us.
I stay here approximately five to seven nights a year. It's a nice place to stay for business or pleasure. The remodeled common area around the pool is very nice. The staff have always been pleasant. I don't always eat the breakfast, but when I do I enjoy the do it yourself waffle maker. All things considered, the location is pretty quiet. It snowed almost two feet OVERNIGHT the last time I was there. I never heard the snow plows and they do plow their parking lot, Which is another benefit because not all Hotels do.
I stayed at this hotel on 5 Feb 2016 an was extremely disappointed with the hotel. The issues i encountered were: Construction in corridor (photographed), full plastic laundry bags in corridor for whole stay (photographed), plastic cutlery & paper plates at breakfast. In room: No duvet cover, no TV remote,No coffee creamers, Phone was not connected so when visited reception to complain nothing was done and when i requested to speak to the manager on checkout was told was unavailable (room cost of $239 per night) - Stay Away
Good location, great hotel for a visit to the north and west shores of Lake Tahoe, tastefully newly renovated, super fitness center, large hot tub next to the swimming pool, excellent breakfast in comfortable breakfast room, very friendly, efficient staff. We will stay here again!
Newley remodeled hotel with a really nice common area for free breakfast plus games to keep you entertained when the wifi is slow. Obviously, many folks will be tapping into the wifi so it can get very slow so in the meantime they have a decent list of channels on their new flat screens plus they offer free games you can find in the common area. There is also a little marketplace where you can get food/ snacks. No complaints. Really nice and clean. Room had a fridge, microwave, etc.
You won't believe the spa until you see it... 25 ft long. It was 20 degrees and snowing so we didn't stay long at the outdoor firepit (also 20 ft long), but we relaxed in the outdoor spa for 20 minutes. Breakfast was great. Friendly staff.
Very nice for a Best Western! We were happy with the location and the hotel itself. Breakfast could have been better, but it was free with the room, so we shouldn't complain. Comfortable bed, good brew pub and sushi restaurant right next door.
This was a great experience for us, more than what we expected. The personel were very helpfull, and the room was up to the price. The hotel location is prime and easy to access or reach interesting tourist destinations. Overall great!!
My favorite part about the hotel was the location. It is within walking distance of about 5 restaurants and is very close to downtown, as well-- maybe a 5 minute drive. The rooms were clean and comfortable and there were freshly baked cookies and tea and coffee down in the lobby each night. The free breakfast was great, too-- go early, though-- it gets really packed and there aren't enough seats for everyone.
We stayed here during our visit to the Northstar resort in North Lake Tahoe. After driving for over six hours, two of which were uphill and snowing we arrived at the hotel around 2 am. We walked into the lobby and the girl who was working the front desk pulled up our reservation literally in less than one minute, as if she was expecting us. She promptly checked us in and provided instructions as to where to park , breakfast, etc. and even offered late checkout the next day (we spent the rest of our three day weekend in Reno) so we could sleep in I was quite grateful that she understood we were exhausted and was quite please with her efficiency. The room was spacious and very clean. I was overall very happy also that it was both close to the side entrance where we parked and also very close to where breakfast was being served. Breakfast was delicious, they offered eggs, sausage, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, bagels and a number of other things. which was also very nice. the hotel was located very close to both downtown Truckee where we had lunch the next day, the town is quite charming so definitively worth seeing if you are in the area. It was also very close to the ski slopes (no more than 15 minute drive) and if we had brought the children they probably would have been able to play on the snow within the property. Next time we are in the area we will for sure come back to this hotel.
Decent place but $300 a nite is too much for what you get. Sound proofing from adjacent (connecting via door) room was unacceptable. Temperature in room was slow to respond. Breakfast was good and location was good. I think there are other places which are equal in quality but half the price. This is the extra words to make this 200 characters.
We needed a room with two beds for a few nights to ski in the Tahoe area. This hotels basic but the service is very good (thanks to the two ladies at the front desk). I will definitely use this hotel again in the future. The rooms and property are somewhat dated. It has a nice common area with fireplace, pool & hot tub, good parking, easy access to I-80, SR-267 and SR-89. Breakfast is served daily.
It is always safe to stay at Best Western's. You can expect a good rate, a comfortable bed, a continental breakfast, and good hospitality. And this hotel was just that! The front desk girl was such a help, and she was fun to talk to. She had good recommendations for food, and seemed genuinely interested in helping the guests. The bed was good, a slept very well. The room was clean, and everything was in working order. The highlight of the stay had to be the breakfast. Of course, chain hotels usual serve a standard 'continent breakfast', which this hotel did, but it was exceptional! They had so many options and the food actually seemed fresh. (No one is a fan of soggy scrambled eggs). And, for once, they had amazing coffee! I am a bit of a coffee snob, so this was a big deal to me. Gas station coffee has never pleased me, so I was happily surprised when I tasted genuine coffee! Overall, a great experience.
This is a great place to stay in the Truckee-Tahoe area. You're close to everything, the rooms are super clean, they include a hot breakfast, and the bed is one of the most comfortable I've slept in. I like this place better than some of the other local hotels for the above reasons, but they also have a large lounge area and a lot of guests and families hang out there. They have board games, books, drinks, tea, and other nice amenities here. It has a fun community feel in this area. Also, they have a huge hot tub and swimming pool. What's not to like? We'll definitely stay here again.
Great location, dog-friendly hotel. Nice, clean hotel. Free breakfast and heated pool and hot tub make for a great place to stay in Tahoe. We've stayed here before and will definitely stay here again. Location is very convenient to downtown Truckee and Northstar. Squaw and Alpine are easy to access from this location too.
One of the best cheap solutions I've found in Tahoe. It's clean, staff is super friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast in the morning—nothing fancy, but good enough for quick bite. Great location, close to Northstar and a few good restaurants are right across the street. I'll be back.
We stayed here while visiting our son in Truckee and really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff and clean comfortable room. The best part for us was the lodge style dinning room/bar. We had family game night and then enjoyed the outdooor heated pool(yes outdoor pool while snowing) and hot tub plus a nice fire pit. Its not a luxury hotel but a perfect mountain getaway!!
A welcoming place from the outside, especially in the snow. Rooms are basic, the best part about them is the pictures on the walls - obviously a skiing theme. Oh and a decent armchair that reminded me I must read Sherlock Holmes. There was a gym somewhere - but I avoided that. I think there was a jacuzzi in the courtyard, either that or it was a conservation habitat for some fauna needing a little help with living. The breakfast was great; egg, bacon and some other stuff I ignored. Not too bright inside, hallways were a little like a facility for kids who poop in their duds. Speaking of which I passed by there again recently and went in to use the men's restroom - a very nice restroom it is too. Although the gal on reception (in the lobby not the restroom) was not the most communicative. Maybe she didn't appreciate me complementing the quality of the restrooms, or she was having her brain sucked out by an alien force, I dunno. I left.
I chose this Best Western since I had positive experiences in Europe with BW. The brand lived up in the US as well. Really Good value. (the rest of this review is to add enough characters to qualify the review on Trip Advisor)
Great location in Truckee Area, close to North Star, accepts pets, and a great restaurant right next door. It's our go to place in Tahoe. Breakfast is included which is a huge time saver when getting to the slopes.
Very nice location, excellent staff, very good value. Parking for cars well lit, cleared of snow and ice, and convienent scrapers to help clear windshields in morning etc. Breakfast very well stocked with variety and very appealing to all tastes.
We love staying here. They welcome pets, nice clean rooms, great breakfast. The remodeled hot tub and pool are super!!! They're still working on some construction, so there may be some noise. We have stayed there many times. Best Western took over recently and there are many improvements. They do need to hire addition front desk staff at check in time.
This is a very quiet hotel in a great location. The beds are comfortable. The hot or cold breakfast is what I like best about the hotel - I can get it at 6AM weekdays. The remodeling (still going on after two years) has been mostly successful, but the telephone system has gotten even worse since they removed the bedside unit and inexplicably replaced the desk phones with units that don't have any speed-dial labels for things like wake-up and messages (which still work if you know the code). For some time it has been almost impossible to make a long-distance call without assistance from the desk clerk, but that is a minor problem for most people today. Some of the rooms have bathroom fans that run continuously, in others the motion detector works well.
The rooms were newly remodeled and great, breakfast was good, spa, pool and fire pit were great. No lobby or area inside to relax by a cozy fire. I would definitely improve my ideas about the property after their expected lobby remodel this spring. That could make the hotel an 8 or above in all categories.
Why do hotels persist in using magnetic cards for keys? They don't work. Has anyone ever stayed at a hotel and not had to go back to the front desk at least once for a new key card? Otherwise the hotel was okay.
This was a very convenient and comfortable hotel to stay in for 6 of us plus 2 dogs over Thanksgiving. It was close to North Star Skiing Resort, close to Truckee and quiet. I was very pleased with the service, food and room. I really appreciate that the Hotel took dogs!
My family WILL be back Excellent accommodations and very friendly staff. Plus dog friendly!!! We have never slept better, the beds are like fluffy pillows. Loved the jacuzzi and fire pits as well. Clean and friendly, what more could you ask for? We are all in!
This hotel used to be great, it's gone way downhill since Best Western took it over. I used to stay here every weekend for the last 3 winters, I always felt like family. I made a reservation over the phone and was all set to go for opening weekend. When I got there, there was three people at the desk and I didn't know any of them. That should have been my first clue since they have had pretty much the same staff for the longest time. They didn't have my reservation, they didn't believe me when I told them I made one, I had to show them my 10 minute phone call log with them on my phone, they still refused to honor the rate I was quoted. Really? The rate they quoted me was almost twice as much! No thanks! I sat down around the corner to find a new hotel and the staff started to complain about the hotel to each other! Even they don't like it here! Even when the manager came down, he started to complain as well! What an impression! I miss the old managers, Garrett and Stephanie, bring them back, get some staff loyalty again, then maybe I'll be back.
Quiet, flat, and close to the downtown. Great hotel for this price range. The warm cookies in the evening were a nice treat. Did not appreciate maintenance staff walking into my room without knocking and the hotel did apologize so I would definitely stay again.
Finally found a great place to stay in Truckee. Great breakfast and friendly staff. The room was excellent and very clean. Beds were comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Short distance to the downtown area for shopping and eating.
My husband and I have had ski leases the past couple of years but opted out this year in lieu of hotels. This was the first place we've tried and we've already booked more visits for the ski season. While under construction, the hotel is VERY clean and the rooms are comfortable. They are dog friendly which is a must for us and our snow loving pup! Great food and wine tasting within walking distance. We are looking forward to staying this winter as well as coming back during the summer months.
Knowing the facility, we booked by phone from the road. After a long drive from Utah that day, it was disappointing when we arrived to find out the pool and hot tub were out of order - a fact not mentioned when we booked. Price a bit high, the room was fine, the breakfast adequate.
The staff was so helpful and service minded. The rooms were well appointed and clean. No fault of the facility, we just happen to stay while the second floor was under remodel constriction so it was a little messy and noisy. Overall we would stay again.
Even though they were remodeling the entire 2nd floor, the hotel was quiet and relaxing, We were on our last leg of a month long driving vacation and welcomed the quiet comfort!! Even though it's not close to the lake, there is plenty to do and see close by..lots of restaurants, also.
Nice room just remodeled. Comp breakfast was great every morning. Only complaint was the hotel was undergoing a major remodel during our stay, so was some what noisy and the pool was empty. I sure it will be all the better when it's completed.
We have stayed at this hotel for skiing, hiking and work for more than 20 years. It is in a great location, close to both the Truckee River and restaurants. In the past it has shown its age with maintenance not up to the best standard. However, the past 4-5 years maintenance and upgrades have been very good. Hot breakfast is a real plus, and they are doing major remodeling improvements. Plenty of good parking, easy access to Highway 262 for skiing at Northstar or easy return to Highway 89 for Squaw and Alpine.
Great and comfortable. Beds were soft and staff was helpful. Easy to find and plenty of places around to eat . Exterior of hotel was inviting and looked very clean. Staff was very helpful upon checkout and checking in
I stayed at this hotel every weekend and holiday for the past three ski seasons on a negotiated seasonal rate. In July 2015, as in all prior years, I negotiated a rate for our ski season. Best Western agreed and all was docunmented. We have had 45 days on the mountain on average the last three years. Clearly devoted, and loyal customers. And we loved this hotel. Under the auspices of Best Western it changed. And the agreement I brokered late July was not honored when I tried to show up in November. Horrible experience; feeling betrayed. Enjoy the snow this year Best Western, and wait to see who shows up when it is less than spectacular. You are fickle and you don't hold to your word.
We stayed in the Best Western for a birthday weekend trip. We were basically looking for a place to rest our heads, and this more than fit our needs. Room ~ The room was spacious and comfortable. We have a 2 year old, and we didn't feel cramped. The bed and pillows were exceptional. The bathroom was clean, and the water pressure was great. Amenities ~ The hotel had an amazing pool/hot tub/fire pit area. We would definitely recommend hanging out under the lights by the fire if you have the opportunity. It was off season, so we had had the whole incredible area to ourselves. Location ~ The hotel is NOT located close to downtown Truckee or the ski resorts. Albeit not far, you'll have to drive. If you have dreams of walking to anything of this nature, you'll have to find another hotel. However, there are quite a few bars and restaurants that are within walking distance. We walked over to the Fifty/Fifty, and it was excellent. The Drunken Monkey is also very close, which had a fun atmosphere. Overall ~ We would absolutely stay here again. During the peak season, the rooms are around $300/night. For that price, I'd probably stay somewhere closer to the resorts, if that was what I was the reason for my travel. However, it's a great and comfortable place to stay, so I would hesitate either!
I am a business traveler (3 hotels a week), and this week, I used some points to stay as I passed through town. As I passed, because I have had poor experiences, I hid my laptop bag (2 computers, one tablet, and sensitive info)... so well I forgot to pack it. The hotel called me, said they had it, and offered to send it to me! I ended up just picking it up, but none the less. The room is VERY clean, updated, and I had my 2 labs with me, and they were very accomodating! overall, from someone who travels a TON, great place!
I've used the Best Western in Mt. Shasta multiple times for business. Very comfortable. Easy. Convenient. I would stay here every time I come to Mount Shasta in the future. They staff are friendly. The restaurant is very good!
My family and I stayed here on our last day of a short road trip and were okay with the Hotel. The staff was very nice and courteous. We were greeted with a smile and checked in quickly. Our room had two queen beds and the room was a decent size. It looks like it had been recently renovated. Speaking of renovations, I believe the entire second floor is being renovated, but other than a sign and some caution tape hung across the stairways, you couldn't tell. The Wi-Fi was completely worthless. My family had several wireless devices and none of them were able to connect to Wi-Fi for more than a few seconds. When I asked the front desk lady, she said it was due to the fact that the hotel was fully booked and a lot of people were trying to connect at the same time. I doubt it, but I didn't want to call her on it. The breakfast was okay. Some watery scrambled eggs, Sausage patties, biscuit and watery gravy. There was also yogurt, donuts, and the standard waffle flipper thingy. It should be noted that front desk staff was in and out of the breakfast area frequently. Grabbing drinks, donuts, toast etc during the 15 minutes we were eating breakfast. One last thing. The lighting in the parking lot at night is very poor. I went out to the car around 8 pm and it was uncomfortably dark. As a guy I was a little uneasy about being out there, I can only imaging a woman running out to her car alone. It could use a few more light posts for safety. Overall an okay stay, but nothing to write home to mom about.
A Best Western Hotel seems to never disappoint me, as usual this one was very clean with newer modern updates, reasonable rates for the area, and a friendly attentive staff. I enjoy the bonus of a quick breakfast with healthy options before I hit the road, I look forward to staying here again.
this hotel was purchased 1 year ago and is in the process of remodeling this is a great find the beds are so comfortable clean the pool area is really large and very nice pet friendly great location would stay here again if we ever venture to truckee such a great place.
It is outside of the main part of Truckee by about a mile, but in a very nice area. The full breakfast was very welcomed, and very satisfying, with everything from fruits and waffles, to sausage, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns.
The room we had was ok, had the basic necessities. However this has to be one of the noisiest hotels I've stayed at. Walls are paper thin. I had to sleep with ear plugs to drown out the hallways noise and slamming doors. The hotel is under construction so there are holes in the walls in the hallways and outside. Soooo I'm paying $150.00 a night to stay in a place with holes in the walls? So bummed. Our heater in the room was worthless and made noise all night. Check in was nice and easy. Front desk was super nice. Don't think we will be staying here again.
Almost the entire parking lot was blocked off due to repaving and everywhere the front desk told me I could park, the construction crew told me I could not park. Additionally the entire top floor of the building was under renovation and closed. It would have been nice to know this at booking time with the Best Western app. That said the room was very nice and the hotel breakfast was excellent.
We stayed one night here. The room was clean and spacious. The beds had fat "tops" that I wasn't fond of but some may like. Sheets were nice, pillows a bit fat. The breakfast was typical best western with bagels toast cereal eggs sausages fruit and waffles. It is a standard Best Western. Didn't use the pool but others were and it looked nice enough. Staff was friendly and location 5 min from Truckee town. Would have been more impressed if price had been lower but summer rates are high I guess.
The hotel staff was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A great place to stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. The restaurants near the hotel were within walking distance and the Fifty Fifty Brewery serves great food.
The hotel was a fair price. The morning breakfast did not sit very well with my stomach and the hotel was under construction. It was also a little far from where I was working but it was the best price for the quality of room that I wanted to stay in. Overall, I would stay there again but would only eat the waffles that you can make for yourself next time for breakfast.
