Best Western Premier Hotel Del Mar, Del Mar

This hotel is wonderful the all the staff are great. The hotel is exceptionally clean and very quite. The refig is a great size with a nice size freezer. The showers are the best that I have ever had. It is a nice walk-in, You are close to the village of Del Mar were there are a lot of eating places.

What can I say. It started when I booked my room I asked for an early check in as we were driving in from out of state. They said they would do their best to help. We got in early and our room was ready. I was pleasantly surprised when we got to the room clean and spacious. We were in Del Mar for a ceremony on Mt Soledad for my dad. We were also here for my daughter's birthday. What my favorite part of this room was the little mini kitchenette. There was a refrigerator with a freezer, which was perfect for us as with my daughter having special dietary needs we often have to take a small cooler of things for her so it was nice to be able to put our freezer packs in the freezer and not have to depend on just having ice bags. We hit the store down the street bought some stuff for some lunches and breakfast and was able to make our own coffee is right there in the room. The microwave was also great to have. The shower was great and the water pressure was good. For the price to be down the street from downtown Del Mar. and a few minutes from the ocean. This was a great stay and will be back.

I loved this hotel. the pool was very warm and the hot tub was great too. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and nice. Everyone who worked at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. the balcony had a great view. We loved it at Best Western Premier Hotel Del Mar.

This Hotel is wonderful! From the staff at check in who were so kind and welcoming, to all workers who took the time to ask me if I was enjoying my stay. All staff here greet you with a smile! Rooms are clean and the food in the cafe is delicious. Beautiful setting, with wonderful employees, who do their best to ensure your stay is a pleasant one. I have stayed here a few times and the experience has always been excellent! Will return soon!

If you are looking for a perfect get away - go to Best Western Premier Hotel in Del Mar. It sits right on the ocean. You are ten minutes from Torrey Pines and 25 minutes from San Diego. Perfect for a weekend get away or a week's vacation. The location is amazing; the rooms are very nice; and the staff is very courteous.

Very clean room. Beautiful ocean view from my room and balcony. I could hear the surf at night. Nice breakfast Cafe with outdoor seating. Excellent staff both front desk and housekeeping. A very good value for gorgeous Del Mar.

2 night mid-week stay for spouse birthday. Upgraded upon check-in to a 3rd floor King from first floor queen, which was appreciated :) Room a bit small, but well-done with good amenities, clean & everything worked. Mini-split AC worked great! Comfy bed, small balcony, lovely bathroom - fairly quiet. Small elevator only really fits two comfortably, so sometimes a wait - stairs were too much at my age. Very well-located & plenty of free parking. Only issue was housekeeping banging on door at 9 a.m. - would think they'd be notified by front desk of check-outs? Would stay again if in this area, well located!

Stayed for three nights over the Labor Day weekend. Check in was great. Room was very nice and clean. Attractive decor. Ants (a ton of them in their trail from the window) came in and ate food on the desk on Saturday while I was away. (I was floor one poolside.) Front desk immediately called for maintenance to come and take care of the ants. Cesar came and took care of the situation in a fast, cheerful, and professional manner. THANK YOU, Cesar!! Cafe was closed Sunday morning due to unforeseen circumstances. Front desk set up complimentary coffee and pastries in lobby. Good job and much appreciated!! All employees at front desk were super efficient and nice as I had to request extra items due to scaled down COVID restriction housekeeping guidelines. I am staying again over Thanksgiving weekend so I can go to the Thoroughbred horse races. Looking forward to it. Many thanks.

Check in was efficient, extra coffee pods were provided, parking was free. Great location. Easy walking to beach and restaurants. The room was clean, there be comfortable. Pillows soft. The air conditioner took some getting used to and had a bit of a low level whine butt at least it worked well.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times when I travel to San Diego. The hotel is nice and comfortable. The pool and spa are relaxing. The location is amazing! There is a beautiful beach view and lots of cute restaurants and shops close by.

Very clean and efficient space. Having a kitchen with utensils and pot pans etc was a real benefit. Great location really friendly helpful staff. Pool area is very attractive and the whole plot is well landscaped. The balcony in the room offers a nice place at the end of day for a glass of wine overlooking the pacific ocean.

Pleasant grounds with ocean view. Centrally located and within walking distance from the Del Mar shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean and spacious with kitchenette equipped with microwave and refrigerator. The view from the second floor of the ocean was nice and relaxing. The bed is hard and pillows are flat. After requesting extra pillows, we were a little more comfortable. The cafe has fresh and tasty breakfasts. Unfortunately, the cafe is only open in the morning. We have stayed here before and will definitely stay again. Good value for the location!

We stayed here after moving our daughter in at SDSU. It is a lovely hotel with bright, beachy guest rooms and a wonderful pool and seating areas. Beach is an easy 2 block walk behind the hotel. Very peaceful and relaxing and a great value. Highly recommend.

This hotel has very nicely updated rooms, the location is great for walking to shops and restaurants in Del Mar. The pool and hot tub were very nice. From the 3rd floor balcony you can see the ocean…but you are about 4 blocks away.

Very clean rooms and hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Lauren is a friendly and excellent manager. We will stay here again. There is a great ocean beach just 4 miles north of the hotel. Several great restaurants in the area.

By far , the BEST Best Western we have EVER stayed at. Mostly because of 3 things ........ 1 , the location ......... 2 , Everything is very clean and 3 , Most important ...... every employee seems happy to be working there. Trying their best to help you anyway they can. #1 place to stay in Del Mar

Sleepless 2 nights for local event due to unbearably hard bed. Poor breakfast service waiting over an hour after ordering to receive food. Even made to wait in ordering line again just to get creamer for coffee. Overcooked rubbery omelette eggs. Hotel shows no thanks, not even free breakfast, for guests who had their family friends book many rooms there for local event.

We always stay here when we go to Del Mar California. The rooms feel "beachy". They are very clean. There is a closet with a mini Keurig in it, a refrigerator, sink and cabinets. This closet and the clothes closet light up when you open them. The room is not large but it has a desk. We had 2 queens with a garden view on the second floor. The bathroom was modern and clean. The little cafe on the property makes breakfast food from scratch and it is always good. Their coffee is good too. We get our food and sit outside. There is an inside with tables. Parking is free . Internet not so great but it was free. There is a small pool and jacuzzi.

Took a last-minute trip to San Diego from Phoenix. I was not familiar with the layout of the coastal towns, which one was for young people, families, etc. I took a chance on Del Mar Best Western Premier and was absolutely happy. We are a mature couple, young at heart we had everything we needed plus at the edge of a charming town. The location is perfect for walking to town, shops, restaurants, or the beach. The hotel itself is completely updated. Very comfortable and quiet, the staff is kind and helpful.

This is our second time staying a this hotel. And once again we were very pleased. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We stayed on the third floor this time which was a little more money but the view if the ocean was great. The room was very clean and well appointed. The AC in this room was updated and was quiet and efficient. The new small frig now had a separate freezer which was perfect for Ice Cream! Much to do within a short distance.

I accidentally booked a room with one full bed when I needed two beds for four people and didn't realize it until we walked through the door of the room. I went to the front desk and explained how I messed up the reservation and if they could help. The manager on duty, Laurie, was incredible. She was able to switch us to a new room for the first two nights and the third we had a queen bed and roll away for the kids without any extra charges. The entire staff was so friendly and helpful itade the trip perfect. Rooms were clean and location is amazing. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone!

We just had a really relaxing stay at BW Del Mar. Good choice of breakfast at reasonable prices. Clean room with little kitchenette that had a fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker & a sink. Only thing I would improve is a smart tv to watch Hulu. Staff were very helpful & happy. Made us feel like we were welcome. Very entertained by doggy park next to hotel while having morning coffee on patio. We will be back asap. Can't recommend enough.

Night staff not helpful, only requested a couple pillows and couldnt get back to me and never received them. The AC unit would squeal every 10 minutes or so for about 2 minutes keeping me up at night.

This is a terrific hotel with fantastic views in the heart of downtown Del Mar. It's a great place to walk out and enjoy the surrounding area. The employees are all super friendly and accommodating. The pool and hot tub are also nice to hang out and enjoy even though you are right next to the beach.

Super rooms with nice amenities with balconies with a view of the sea. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Immaculate grounds, easy free parking. Has a great breakfast restaurant (that is not free but worth paying for). I have stayed here several times and have always been very happy.

Hotel was a very easy walkable distance from the town, about 15 min walk from the beach. A lot of good restaurants and some shops. (As a tip just know there is no walkable places like a grocery store or CVS) The grounds of the hotel were very nice and the hotel desk staff were very nice and helpful. They had an on site cafe which was decent. The only problem we had with the hotel was the room. Not that there was anything wrong with it, it was just old and not updated. Which made it feel dirty (doesn't mean it was) but the carpets in the room we're old and need some help, and probably actually dirty. Overall a good stay

BUT, we are within walking distance to the beach and some of Del Mar/San Diego's Finest Restaurants - The Best!!!... We attempt to keep the nostalgic charm of the surrounding Village as you could see in our corridors the """ORIGINAL HOTEL DEL MAR""" that burnt down so many years ago. We keep a close eye on our rooms to maintain the best possible cleaning regiment and are awarded year after year from AAA, Best Western Hotels and other third party organizations, too many to mention; for cleanliness AND maintaining our nostalgic charm. We're certainly not a cookie cutter type hotel, we're a Boutique Sea Side Village Hotel in our own beautiful village of Del Mar/san Diego. Hope to have your return again and again. My wife is in a clinical trial for Stage 4 cancer. The Scripps Oncology Coordinator referred Hotel Del Mar. All staff we met were very helpful. It is a short drive with scenic beach views to Scripps Torrey Pines. For anyone dealing with an illness that requires overnight stays, I recommend the Hotel Del Mar. It is very peaceful and relaxing. Due to our appointment scheduling we weren't able to use the dining facilities. Overall we were very pleased with our 2 night stay.

The hotel is conveniently located on the main drag in Delmar. It's a 10 or 15 minute walk to the train station and the beach access near there. Restaurants are a 5 to 10 minute walk away. The rooms are smaller but clean and including a coffee maker for fridge and microwave. The hotel has a pool, Jacuzzi and workout room. Parking is secure any easy behind the hotel and I was able to get my oversized van in there with no trouble I would certainly stay again and recommend it to friends who are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in the area

We stayed here for two nights with our family of four. The room was OK. The beds were pretty uncomfortable, and the walls and ceiling were not well noise insulated. On our first night, one of the neighbors was enjoying their cannabis in our room reeked of it which was unpleasant. The hotel had a policy of literally locking people into the (underwhelming) exercise room one at a time due to Covid; not only was this inconvenient, but we're still wondering if that's a violation of safety regulations. They also locked the lounge area and only let people in upon request. The café out front was not particularly impressive the one time I tried it. The pool area was quite nice and the location was fantastic.

We arrived and we had a small trailer with us. The parking lot is steep to drive down with tight corners. The hotel locations is beautiful and we could see the ocean and watch the sunset from our balcony. The beds need a little attention like replaced sheets. They were showing their age and could use a bed pad or replaced. For a premiere property I was surprised that they were not as comfortable as other best westerns. This location does zero breakfast unless you use the cafe. I got a 15% discount. The service was great and everyone is very friendly and helpful. Very clean. Even the stairwells are spotless! There is a dog park next door and I enjoyed watching the homeowners enjoy time with their pets. I would definitely return to the location.

First, we were able to check-in early which was wonderful. The room was clean and had no maintenance issues. Nice setup for bathroom and had a wet bar tucked away in wall. Very quiet location even with car show in town. Nice jacuzzi and pool area. Hotel is located a short distance , two plus blocks to shops and restaurants. The beach is unaccessible from hotel even though you can walk down to the bluffs overlooking the beach for a great sunset! The actual beach is only a 5 minute drive and park in the residential areas for free parking. Only two minor issues, only one ice machine on main floor and we were on three. The other was small pillows for a Queen bed.

A great smaller hotel with beautiful outdoor amenities. The grounds are so beautiful. Such a relaxing and fun stay. We felt like the groundskeeping folks deserve a big, fat raise! We will stay here again!

My kids flew in and we went down to my favorite place in Del Mar! We weren't disappointed, terrific stay at this awesome Hotel! So close to the beach and restaurants. Great birthday trip for all of us!

I loved this location because it was only a few blocks away from all the great restaurants, and only a few more blocks further to the Best Beach in the USA, Del Mar Beach! My son & I enjoyed walking everywhere and strolling into the great shops along the way. I think they put sleeping potion in the sheets, because as soon as my head hit the pillow I was sound asleep. My son goes to UCSD and only after checkout did I learn of the discount they offer to families of UCSD. That would have been nice to know ahead of time. Also, if they offered a complimentary continental breakfast I think that would be wonderful.

The hotel was super quaint. Staffing was amazing. Our view was beautiful. We loved it was centrally located to multiple restaurants and shops. Not to mention the short distance to the beach. My family will definitely be returning.

The hotel is a Great location to walk to town and along the beautiful beach. All staff are always responsive and friendly. The couple seating areas inside the pool fence and outside are always a nice place to take some time to re group. We have stayed here a few times and will again later this year.

I lived in Del Mar years ago a couple blocks from this Hotel. So, I come back to Del Mar 5 times per year and I always stay at the Premier for all of the right reasons. It is very clean, relaxing and comfortable. My room has a balcony that i can sit out on and enjoy a nice glass of Cab as I watch the Sun set into the Pacific. Then I can walk 6 blocks to the heart of town and pick from a half dozen happening restaurants. It is literally a baseball throw from the ocean. In the morning you can have breakfast on Campus or if you are in the mood, you can cook in your room in the kitchen which also has a refrigerator. You receive the true Del Mar vibe at Premier. Enjoy

This property is TOP KNOTCH!! All associates were very kind and helpful. The café was very nice, staff friendly and the offerings were fresh, healthy and coffee was the BEST!! The room was very nice, clean and up to date. The balcony over looking the ocean was perfect. GREAT sunset!!

We had a good three night stay in a two bedded room on the 2nd floor at the rear with I guess views towards the sunsets! Friendly welcome. Everywhere is clean. Spacious bedroom and bathroom (good shower), safe, and small balcony. Nice pool area although we didn't use it (it's towards the road side but I don't think that's an issue). Breakfasts (additional cost) were generally good although I didn't like how they made an omelette. We wished we were closer to the main restaurants and the road is busy to walk along but we got over that, and there's no access to the beach unless you walk 15-20 minutes. Good car parking etc

Best Western Premier Hotel Del Mar is conveniently located in the Village of Del Mar with walking distance to shopping and beach. Affordably priced for a San Diego beach city getaway. We were impressed with both the inside of the rooms and the grounds outside. We enjoyed having breakfast on the patio at the small cafe while sitting by a fire. The rooms seemed clean and the updated bathrooms are beautiful. We enjoyed being able to watch the sunset over the ocean and our kids loved the pool!

Had issue with AC/heater when we first arrived, but after they came too look at it we were offered another room. Upgraded to ocean view room with balcony. I would call that great service to accommodate.

I decided to make a reservation at this hotel because of it's location and great reviews and boy, it did not disappoint! Just driving thru Del Mar village prior to arrival was a treat. So many places to explore, the unparalleled ocean breeze and beach vibes are the perfect setting for this Best Western. I had a long drive and was ecstatic to find out there was room available a little earlier than anticipated check-in time. The young lady at check-in (Justus) was kind and welcoming, genuinely happy to be there, it was so refreshing so interact with such a positive human. She gave me local recommendations and promptly gave me directions when I asked 'what's the quickest way to the beach'. The whole place is beautiful, I walked by the pool, there's several areas outside where guests can sit and hang out. I had a room on the third floor which included the cutest little balcony! I sat out there just enjoying the rare moment away from home. The room smelled so clean the minute we walked in. The bathroom had a wonderful spacious shower and quite a bit of counter space (perfect for us 4 girls in the room). The room also had a fridge, microwave and Keurig machine, all of which were put to good use. The beds were so comfortable, I had a difficult time dragging myself out of bed the next morning to come home. I can't wait to be back and feel so lucky to have come across this awesome place to stay.

The location is great-near the beach and the town of Del Mar. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are good, just a bit dated. The pool area is exceptional. Overall the value for the price is great in my opinion. . I appreciate Best Western's quality and value consistency wherever I have stayed with them to date. I look for Best Western wherever I go more and more.

Everyone we encountered here were very friendly and polite. Hotel and room were very clean and the pool area was beautiful. Room had a small fridge, coffee maker and microwave (very convenient). Small quaint hotel, very clean, very polite staff and great location. Enjoyed walking down to the ocean cliffs and nightly to dinner. Rooms were decent in size as was the bathroom, loved the large shower. Will stay there again if our travels land us that way.

Very nice stay. Lovely room with balcony facing the ocean. Adequate parking. Bed and bedding were very comfortable. Walls were a little thin. We could hear neighbors talking. Wish they had a comped breakfast. Overall, excellent stay. We would return.

I stayed there for 4 nights and the hotel room was very clean. Small Kitchen, and the refrigerator was NOT NOISY and was quiet in the room. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel is just a couple blocks from the water and is viewable.

I wasn't surprised by the value, service, cleanliness, or amenities of this Best Western property. It's what I expect from Best Western and why I'm a preferred customer. I was surprised by the view. I paid extra for a view room, assuming it would be quieter than a pool view. However, I couldn't find any photos of the view. After reserving at so many other hotels I have discovered if they don't give you photos, there's usually a reason- a bad reason. So, was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful full ocean view, including a small balcony with seating. Every room on that side of the hotel fully faced the ocean. San Diego is not cheap, and ocean view rooms are not cheap, and hotels in trendy little neighborhoods like Del Mar are not cheap, but this property was amazingly affordable compared to other similar rooms I saw online. It was 1/2 mile from the trendy shopping/restaurant area of Del Mar, the farmers market, right off highway 101 where you can drive up the coast along the ocean, and right off highway I-5, where you can go into San Diego. A great hotel, which made a great trip. Thanks Best Western!

Well-kept property, nicely appointed and super clean. Pleasant staff. Plenty of free parking. Beautiful ocean and sunset views from upper floors facing west. Very walkable, a half-mile to downtown Delmar restaurants, bars and shops. Nearby Liquor/wine store not too overpriced. Hotel is very reasonably priced for what they deliver and no hidden fees. On site restaurant is decent. Enjoyed eating my take away breakfast on my room balcony. Will return again, but for a week next time.

Friendly efficient staff. Ocean view. Third-floor balcony. Comfortable well-apportioned room with two closets—one for clothes and the other a fully-functional kitchenette. Seriously, best room ever and we received the off-season discounted rate!

Service was incredible and all the little things were excellent. Shower was wonderful and thermostat easier to use than others. We will definitely stay there again. While many businesses now take advantage of customers, to "make up for Covid losses, this hotel went out of its way to treat us well and make sure we will return.

This hotel is older but remodeled. The rooms are clean fresh and very nice. The pool area is well kept. The staff is awesome. They all talk to you and help whenever they can. The front desk goes out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. Make you feel like family. Beds are comfortable microwave or stove and fridge In every room. Ocean view on one side pool on other. Love this place. It is convenient to town,ocean,golf and race track.

We were so extremely happy with this hotel! We've stayed in Del Mar before, and had been eyeing this one, and decided to try it this time & we're so happy we did! Every piece of our stay was fantastic! The location is perfect, right by a lot of food, shops and the beach. The view is spectacular! It's very safe, quiet and clean. It has a nice pool/jacuzzi as well. The staff was wonderful. I can't say enough nice things about this hotel! It's a fantastic place to stay for any reason! The location is amazing a very walkable to shops, food options and the beach - we loved the area! We also enjoyed the very hot jacuzzi after a chilly beach day, but didn't check out other amenities. The room was pretty tiny, but decent and we could see the ocean from our balcony. The bathroom was great and virtually spotless and the closet/ wet bar was a great touch and very appreciated too. The downfall was the group of drunk girls screaming, barely able to walk and slamming doors at 1-3 am. So much so that we didn't sleep much after that and it pretty much ruined the stay. If you're a light sleeper, consider staying on the third floor (you can hear your upstairs neighbors) and ask to be on an end - we were across from the elevator, which can be heard. Had we have slept, we probably would've loved it.

We needed a place to stay while our house was being tented, and this location was perfect! (Still close to home so we could check on the house if needed and grab mail.) Everyone who works at this property, from check-in to check-out, exceeded our expectations. Housekeeping is so attentive to their guests needs, and the rooms are clean, quiet, and well decorated. Our room had A/C but the weather was so nice that we didn't need it. I highly recommend the ocean view, but the garden is also relaxing. This hotel turned what was meant to be just a place to sleep into a nice and surprising "stay-cation." We will definitely be back.

Our family needed to spend 2 nights in a hotel while we were having our home fumigated for termites. We selected the Best Western Premier Del Mar due to the close proximity to Torrey Pines where I work. Loved the view of the ocean and sunset from our room's balcony while relaxing after a scenic commute back to the hotel in the evenings. Turned out to be a mini mid-week staycation. We slept well on a comfortable bed in a beautiful room, and had a wonderful made-to-order breakfast in the on-sight charming cafe. Lovely staff, clean rooms (loved the decor in the bathroom), and delicious food and friendly, fast service. What more could we ask for under such inconvenient circumstances! Special thank you to the manager Thomas Mackey and his wonderful staff!

While not directly on the ocean, it was in view of the hotel. Hotel cleanliness exceeded expectations. The bathrooms were nice and contemporary with strong, adjustable shower heads. Pool and hot tub were clear with good temps. Bed pillows were uncomfortable and the throws are outdated. Otherwise it was great. Would stay here again.

All the amenities, a smaller-sized hotel, easy in, out, parking, and friendly helpful staff. Very short walk to outside cafe for breakfast, with discount, plus ocean view from outside tables, plus fire pit was on with cozy seating. I like stairwell for quick access, it feels very safe, it is well-lit, and freshly painted light & bright.

The bedding was inadequate, the comforter on the bed had holes in several locations, and stains. The bed itself was of poor quality. The carpet in the room was in need of cleaning that a vacuum alone would not take care of. The entry door was improperly installed resulting in hallway lighting shined through on all sides. Customer service at front desk at check in was unfriendly dimener.

If you want a clean and friendly hotel and at reasonable price in Del Mar Ca this is for you ! Took my wife to this hidden jewel for our 48th anniversary three day get away. Facility is newly remodeled has nice pool and Jacuzzi and wonderful cafe for breakfast. Just two blocks to the beach and downtown businesses.

Hotel is in an excellent location near the beach and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. It is about a 7-8 block walk to beach access. Room was lovely and bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our coffee on the balcony. I had read where some were bothered by the dog park next door, we found it very entertaining to watch the dogs run and play and noticed no odors whatsoever from the park. Those that used the park were meticulous in cleaning up. The breakfast at the cafe on property was delicious and had several cooked to order options. Cafe staff was friendly and accommodating to our requests. Hotel staff happily gave us dining suggestions and the best way to get to the beach. If you are wanting ocean view I would request 3rd floor room.

BUT; if you look up maybe 1 degree all you will see is the Beautiful Blue Ocean View from your room OR Balcony. So, I suppose there's those who see the world with a glass half empty OR, a glass half full. Those like yourself blessedx3, see the world half full and enjoy all that our Boutique Hotel with all its amenities and wonderful nooks to enjoy, fire pit(s), Ocean View seating outside our Cafe, private little spot to sit and chat with family and friends etc, etc, etc. Thank you for your kind words on TripAdvisor. The location was nice , parking was good enough room, the room was ok No Mirror in the room at all except in bathroom so hard to get ready should have a mirror beside the bathroom, Bed /Mattress was hard stiff not comfortable and the pillows were not good -poor quality hard to sleep on did not sleep well Breakfast cafe is not full service you have to order Overall it was decent but mattress bedding not good -old or low quality

Great location. Very accommodating staff. Pool is beautiful. Breakfast Cafe open 7 to 11 has excellent food and good prices. Parking is free. Rooms are nice, bathrooms are great. A few things. The hallway carpeting is fairly new but it was a mistake. It is filthy and smells. Lots of foot traffic, especially the ground floor. Bad choice. Del mar is very safe, but....there are 4 doors propped open 24 7 and one day something is going to happen. There is an overnight person here, but they could use a housekeeper to clean the carpets, empty the trash, and show a bit more staff presence especially from 5 to 10pm. One portion of the landscaping has been left to die. There is a dog park next door but it smells horrible from all the urine. It would be nice if the property had a fake grass run that could be hosed down as the dog park could be dangerous after dark.

This hotel was very pretty when we pulled in. The pool is beautiful they have a nice fire pit. Tim the front desk manager was very pleasant and helpful. We were very happy with our room it was spacious clean nicely decorated and not brown like every other hotel. The bathroom was very large with a great shower in glass and long counter with double sinks. There was a full length mirror and also a mirror over the table type desk which makes it easier for more than one person to be getting ready at the same time. The bed was very good. We were on the third floor which I highly recommend so you can look out over the ocean. The balcony is very tiny with just two chairs and a little coffee table but at least it is there. We drove to the beach and found easy parking. You could walk to it but if you're carrying stuff it is too far for us. We love the beach with the gentle waves. We saw many dolphins. The water was very cold even in the end of July. We would come to this hotel anytime we're in Delmar or anywhere near it. So many restaurants nearby. We loved chins the Chinese restaurant and Del Mar Seaside Mediterranean and Mexican restaurant which are really close to the hotel. There is a dog park next-door. You will be happy if you stay here. The little kitchen in a closet was so helpful with the tiny fridge and sink and microwave.Also there was a decent size closet and luggage rack which you don't find enough of in a lot of these hotels in this area.

Great scenic spot. Very quiet & it was great to relax at the pool. We were able to see the sunset over the ocean which was a highlight of the trip. The race tracks so happened to open up & we had a grand time & we're grateful that the hotel was not a long drive back

We loved the hotel. Very friendly staff, and the location was within walking distance of many restaurants and the beach. It was only a few minutes travel to the Del Mar horse track and an e addy drive to the San Diego zoo and Petco park.

Stayed here for our 2nd time. Rooms clean, newly decorated and well laid out. Kitchenette area is perfect with small fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker and cupboards. Bathroom spacious. Price amazing for being so close to the track (Del Mar) and no charge for parking. Will absolutely be staying here again!

This premier property is truly Phenomenal! Amazing team of associates, stunningly gorgeous and tremendous location, well maintained and cared for facility, free packing, AC in each room, great on-site restaurant and can walk to all the ideal restaurants and shops in Del Mar. Extremely easy drive to San Diego, La Jolla, Carlsbad, etc. Hands down a AMAZING hotel property!

Extremely clean and friendly staff. Room exceptional. The courtyard, pool and spa enjoyed very much. Lauren at the front desk was very amiable and friendly. The staff, although could not clean rooms, were always available and ready and willing to bring us anything needed for the room.

You can not get to the ocean from this hotel. We were on the street side of the hotel but not woken by traffic noises. Bed was a king & comfortable. We had to bring in a roll away for our teen. We were still able to walk around. Pool area is small but cozy. Parking was free.

Actually, yes you can get to the ocean for our hotel, just like any other hotel in our Sea Side Village, you walk down the street either north or south, and bingo, you're there... I would highly recommend this hotel property. Everything about the hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was a bit smaller than we hoped for, but it didn't matter at the end of the day because the location, service, views, staff, and everything else made up. The room was very clean. The pool/jacuzzi were so nice and the garden area where the pool is located was just beautiful. I will make this my go-to hotel in Del Mar/San Diego area from here on. I can't wait to go back!

This hotel is very clean and the free parking is nice. You can walk down a hill past a few houses to get to the beach. The pool area is very nice, and while blocked from the street with landscaping, still close to the busy road. The rooms (and bathroom) are very small and the Double room is literally two double beds. Not great for a family. When booking, ask for a room facing the ocean WITH a balcony. Those rooms are probably nice. Sadly, we paid the unfortunately high rate as everyone else the weekend of July 4 but received one of the few rooms without a balcony and facing the "garden" which is really the pool and the 4 lane busy highway right outside. The "restaurant" is really a coffee shop that takes your order at a counter. Our air conditioner had one setting - cold. Again, if you are careful about room selection, you might have a good experience.

I've stayed here periodically for the last five years. The hotel is in a great location with nice comfortable rooms. The staff are very helpful, friendly & accommodating. Free parking on site & a nice restaurant for breakfast & lunch. Easy check in & check out. Plenty of restaurant choices in walking distance. Close to the beach.

The location is quiet and well-located for access to Del Mar's main street (5-10 minute walk) as well as the beach (5-10 minute drive or 20+ minute walk). This is a small three story hotel. The property is very well maintained. The pool was clean and surrounded by nice landscaping. I used it daily and was pleased that it wasn't over-chlorinated. The hotel has plenty of parking and there is no additional charge for it, which I appreciated. Because of COVID the restaurant was only open for breakfast (take out or room delivery only). I never used it so I can't comment on it. Also due to COVID, we did not have our room cleaned daily, but housekeeping was always nearby to empty our trash or exchange towels. We had a second floor room facing the ocean and a small balcony which was nice to sit and enjoy the fresh air. You can see and hear the ocean but it's over the parking lot and a few blocks of homes. Beds were comfy, bathroom nicely upgraded and the mini-fridge, microwave and Keurig were very handy. The room was fairly clean with the exception of the carpeting, which could use a deep cleaning. However, the walls were extremely thin and you could hear the people in the room next to us talking, an occasional dog barking, and folks talking while walking down the hallway - at 6 in the morning. Light shone in the room from around the door, I suspect this is due to the age of the hotel. On the plus side every staff member I met was nice and friendly, from the front desk to the housekeeping crew. It is an older hotel and more basic than many I've stayed in, but the location can't be beat. I would stay here again..

Unfortunately, the dog barking in the hallways was unacceptable, you can read the comments below from the guest AND from me. The dog was not properly trained in my opinion and attempted to bite me. As it also attempted to bite my manager when we went to the room to discuss the situation, finally, I was going to evict the dog for being out of control. SO I had the "Pleasure" of meeting Thomas Mackey who "lives there" according to the hotel that I checked into which was a five star versus this one which is MAYBE a one star. I checked out after he accosted me in the parking lot, then he flat out lied and said my dog tried to bite him (which she does have good instincts for shady characters-thank goodness, but she let out one bark to let me know he was there). Then he got mad that I called corporate ASAP and starts beating on my door, which made my dog really suspicious of him, it made corporate tell me that my dog was behaving in a proper manner for an aggressive man and that his behavior is not 'acceptable'. When I checked into the five star I got a bunch of giggles and a response that said, "Everyone has been wondering about this man." Do NOT stay here. I have lived in Del Mar and know every hotel except for this one, so this is the first time I thought I would try it. MISTAKE. I had a wad of black hair on the ground after a "Covid" clean, they do not clean "due to covid" but really because Mackey is probably cheap, and he has an ego to rival Kanye West...this is a BEST WESTERN not a Ritz Carlton, and it shows. My dog doesn't bite but next time...I will! He must be an unhappy person, if you read more reviews you'll see a lot of problems with him and therefore this hotel. Odd, odd little person.

The hotel is close to the downtown restaurant area and only 1/2 mile to beach access. Room was clean and staff was very helpful. Super close to Lego Land if you have kids. Would definitely stay here again.

I recently stayed one night at the Best Western Premier Hotel Del Mar. Check-in was easy and the hotel was beautiful. I loved the seaside decor. My room was well-appointed and had a Keurig, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was roomy and beautifully decorated. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to operate the air conditioner, so I called down to the front desk and the man helped me figure it out. (He also offered to come up if I needed him to, but his instructions were sufficient). My room faced the ocean, but unfortunately it was very gray when I visited. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, as I was meeting my daughter in San Diego the next morning. I had a very nice stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Good hotel in a great location. Our king room was small but had everything we needed. Fridge with freezer was nice to have. We had a view of the ocean, over a couple block of homes, but still good. It was a short walk to restaurants and a public park/beach that was a very nice area! Our breakfast was great food at a reasonable price. It was also a short drive to everything we wanted to do in San Diego.

Just finished staying with the wonderful staff here in Del Mar. Always a great experience from everyone associated with the Hotel, from housekeeping to the front desk to the folks at the Cafe. This hotel is a rare gem! Older inn that has been updated, clean rooms. Great location and fair pricing! We loved that the city dog park was right next door. Parking was behind hotel and we were able to find a parking spot even after getting in late on a Saturday night. Great restaurants nearby and beach access were just minutes away. Can't wait to go back.

I am a Best Western regular and this is one of the nicest ones I have stayed at yet. And I have stayed in brand new properties of this chain. Apparently a recent remodel and they really got it right. Room was soothing and comfortable. Overall the property is really pretty. The pool area spacious including a firepit on a timer. Hot tub is a little small. The little cafe is nice. The food leans towards healthy, but is well prepared and good tasting.

This will be the second time in 18 months I have come to this hotel. I love the location – you can walk to all the beaches and to Del Mar town. Has a great pool Jacuzzi and fitness room – all open as of March 2021. Also has great Wifi and a printer and computer you can use for free in the lobby. I think the rooms are bright spacious and roomy with lovely balconies and actually the air conditioners in the room seem brand new and work great. Showers (not baths) are clean and tidy. The hotel overall is very clean. It also has a well stocked snack and drink bar in the lobby with some basic necessities. They will provide any other little amenities you need like toothbrushes and paste etc. The only thing I saw change this time around was the clientele. I know that the hotel has no control over the guests that pay to stay there but I did feel a bit more unsafe. There were a few people hanging around that made me feel slightly unsafe. I did not address this with the hotel which is my own fault, but the rooms are secure so once I was in my room I felt fine. On the last night there was a LOT of noise coming from the corridor and the rooms beside me that went on until around 10pm. It may have just been kids, but this would be my only complaint. Overall I really like this hotel. The staff are always so helpful and friendly and the hotel is definitely very clean.

The hotel is located walking distance to the shops and restaurants downtown, and even the beach if you have time and energy. The rooms are very clean and contemporary decorated in soothing color palate. The small balcony gave the ability to take in the ocean breeze!

Found the hotel to be vintage but extremely well cared for, and just about a block or two from the ocean. We had an ocean view room and were upgraded on arrival. The front office staff were professional and we were checked in quickly. Planning to return with my twin teens in the spring. The girls will love the pool and easy access to the ocean.

Every single one exceeded my expectations! Tim, Evan, and Carlos were amazing. There are so many more u just don't know names. We had an extended stay and I am so thankful the everyone here. This is the best costumer service experience I have ever had. I was welcomed as a friend. I would definitely stay her again. I can not say enough about the team here! Great hotel, walking distance to all restaurants and beach. Professional staff, clean rooms and grounds well kept. Beds are very comforatable, shower and bathroom are newly renovated. Great value, and location.

Stopped over while traveling for work. Got in several hikes nearby and had an excellent nights rest! So clean, comfortable and the ocean view from the balcony made it a beautiful stop on my journey. Great value!

Definitely the best hotel. Great location near the beach and dog park. Excellent staff and services and great amenities. Love this place. Would not stay anywhere else. Our parents always stay here as well

BW Del Mar is hidden in a residential area, very quiet, very CLEAN, and even though it is not on the beach, it is only about a 15 minute walk to it. But the walk is really pleasant, through the village, past restaurants with fabulous aromas. Before you know it, you are at the beach. The staff at the hotel are wonderful: helpful, kind, friendly, efficient.

This hotel is a comfy little quiet getaway near the ocean. We were on the 2nd floor with an ocean view with a balcony. While you're not directly above the beach, we could still hear, see and smell the ocean. It was a very peaceful experience. Because of the time we arrived, we were unable to enjoy the pool and spa but others were enjoying as we checked in. We brought our own food because we couldn't determine from web site the name of or menu or hours of onsite restaurant but they did give us a 15% coupon upon check in. Overall, great experience. Parking was great and no hassle over having 2 vehicles. We would definitely come back. Was well worth the price. Rooms are great. Shower fantastic. Balcony clean. Enjoyed our stay!

So I got this room for a overnight getaway for my girlfriend and myself on a Saturday night. The desk staff was very accommodating in that I requested an early check-in to set up the room for the surprise with my Girlfriend. They charge a flat $250 Deposit hold on your card. Free Parking and WIFI. I didn't utilize the pool but it was very nice and kid friendly. If I had stayed another night, we probably taken advantage of the pool. Was updated and clean with full amenities. It smelled fresh and the sheets were so soft. There is a closet with a sink, mini-fridge/freezer, and microwave. I was disappointed the fridge did not get our wine as cold as I wanted after 5 hours but the freezer space did the job in 30 minutes. They have a mini Keurig with about 4 different pods for free use. The AC was great and the controls are operated by remote control. the TV was nice and seemed new. The Balcony was a bit small but was perfect for two people to relax overlooking the ocean with a few bottles of wine. We brought our own glasses but they have plastic cups. The parking lot was nice and well lit. Plenty of spots and covered parking. I will for sure be staying here again.

This hotel is in a great location. Rooms were clean, just the hallway carpet needs to be cleaned. Also they do have an e-vehicle charger but the spot is not marked so other guests park there. I was able to move my car a few times when it was open to charge. Food is good at the restaurant and staff is great! We went to Del Mar Community Center to watch the sunset one night which is 2 blocks away. Nice little French Bakery/coffee shop about 2 blocks away and lots of restaurants and shopping as the town is only about 1/4 mile. We rented boogie boards at Ray's Surf Shop and used those a few days. Water was great. Lots of surfing going on in this area. We walked down form the hotel 2 blocks, climbed down from the bluffs. Kind of steep and unstable, but def doable and less people there than beaches close to town. Will def be coming back here.

This was a short getaway after months of not traveling due to the Covid Pandemic. Our room was nicely decorated and comfortable although on the small size. The microwave and fridge were handy. The bathroom had a nice long counter and the shower was great. Plenty of outlets for charging electronics and a good wifi signal. We enjoyed good hot breakfasts at the onsite cafe. The ocean view from the second floor is a distant sliver and the room overlooked the parking lot but it was quiet at night. It's not a resort. The room was very clean but the carpets in the hallways were stained. It's a short walk to many restaurants. The beaches are a short drive or a 10-15 minute walk.Overall a very pleasant stay.

We started on a three day trip to this lovely hotel. Each day was so wonderful that we kept on asking if we could stay. After six days we had to go home. Everyone we dealt with from the check in staff, Kim the manager, Tim the owner, and all the housekeeping staff were so accommodating and helpful. The heated pool was pp wonderful and the hotel was walking distance to good restaurants, shopping and the beach. We can't wait to.come back.

Had a problem with the room we first checked into (we were staying three nights). My wife went to the front desk the next morning, and the front office staff, particularly the Manager, Lorna, was extra helpful in moving us to a much nicer room. The breakfast at the Cafe Del Mar (on the property, above the pool) was surprisingly excellent, great coffee and wonderful service.

This was a nice hotel and had a good view from our balcony on the second floor. The room was cozy and had a nice touch to it. A bit of a walk (15 minutes) to the beach but still manageable. Will consider staying again if in the area.

From check-in to telephone check-out, we felt safe and secure in our ocean view retreat. Staff were all masked, whether interacting with the public or doing their jobs of laundry, cleaning, etc. The pool area looked inviting, although we didn't try it. Breakfast from the onsite restaurant was delivered to our door. The real breakfast was a pleasant surprise after the "grab and go" selections of recent stays, even at BW hotels with onsite restaurants. Staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient. Great job!

During the COVID pandemic, when state law required all to be wearing masks in public, only about half of the guests were wearing masks. When I asked what the hotel the was doing to correct this behavior I was referred to the General Manager/Owner who had been standing in the lobby with his wetsuit half on and no mask on for at least 15 minutes talking to his employees who did have masks on. When I complained the General Manager/Owner was unapologetic, provided his card and I'm pretty sure I heard a derogatory word said about me as I left the lobby. When I complained to Best Western, the representative attempting to capture my complaint was so incompetent he couldn't even capture what I was saying due to a language barrier. This isnt an issue I expected to have to deal with on my hard earned vacation. In addition the gentleman behind the desk stated that there is no known outdoor hose or shower to rinse the sand off yourself when you come up from the beach. That's ridiculous for a hotel 1 block from the beach. My family and I ended up finding two hoses on the north side of the building where we rinsed ourselves and gear rather than track sand up to the room. There was a bright flood light outside of the large window in our room and no curtain is provided to block the light. The location is great! The beach due West of the hotel is awesome if you don't mind the difficult climb down and up the cliff. The climb helps to keep the crowds down. Parking was good and safe. It was quiet during our stay. The room was large and with a little effort into the decorations and some curtains could be awesome. I feel this hotel could be awesome with a little thought anout customer relations and minor investment from the owner but that seems to be lacking. I recommend looking at past poor reviews associated with this hotel and the Owner/General Manager's responses. Ask yourself if that's someone who you want to interact with on your vacation. I know I will stay somewhere else next time no matter how much more it costs.

Awsome staff and good location near Del Mar Village.. Unfortunately ocean view rooms sit on parking lot where just a few bad apples can ruin your morning sleep if they leave motors running (summer temperatures dictate leaving patio screen doors open). Shower heads with poor pressure, suspect secondary to water restrictors. TV remote very antiquated--ex, no button for channel guide. Not able to evaluate housekeeping service due to corona virus restrictions. Matress mediocre.

Hotel was fine but was disappointed in policy. I booked 4 rooms for a golf vacation. we were scheduled to arrive March 14th. Become of Corona concerns aguy wiyh a small child decided to cancel. I called hotel immediately and asked them to cancel one room and was told I would be charged because the cancellation was within 7 days(I believe it was 4 or 5 days before). I talked to manager who told me 1/2 the normal cancellation fee was the best he could do !. I had to cancel a subsequent vacation and recieved full refunds on airfare and 4 different lodgings Marriot, Airbnb,Hotel.com and Bookings.com even though some of these were "nonrefundable". Hotel was 1/2 empty. Hotel and staff were fine, but tough to accept this policy decision !

My husband and I live in San Diego and decided to take the weekend to live like tourists. We had heard about the Hotel Del Mar and had driven past it on occasion, but had never stayed until we had the opportunity to visit Kaaboo last September. This quiet little hotel is nestled just off of the familiar highway 101, and has a quaint charm that is hard to find these days. The hotel is within walking distance to all of the local shops and restaurants and even within walking distance to the racetrack! Since Kaaboo, we have returned 2x and plan on many more little mini vacations, getting away from our own familiar neighborhood. The hotel has a restaurant on site which made it convenient when we didn't want to take the short walk into town. There's a heated pool and jacuzzi, and a gym. Also, definitely splurge for the ocean view rooms! The hotel has been updated recently and the small, but charming details are hard to miss! (The lobby entry has seashells embedded in the walls! How cute!) Great hotel, so clean and well taken care of. We will be back for sure!

Whenever we are in Del Mar, we stay at this gem as each stay is better than the last one. We decided on a last minute trip to Del Mar this past weekend and were able to reserve one of the top floor rooms with an ocean view this time. We love this hotel as we were steps away from beautiful beaches and wonderful restaurants. Everything was perfect from the check-in process with the friendly front desk team, to the cleanliness of the rooms and the nice upgrades in the bathroom. We enjoyed the delicious crème brulee French toast for breakfast in the Café. The sunset views from our balcony were simply breathtaking. The price was right and the service was impeccable. We will be back!

Room 307 has bed bugs. Please see other reviews regarding bedbugs at this property. General Manager, Thomas Mackey, refused to refund my money. I only spent 2 nights on a 6 night booking here due to the bed bugs. Thomas is completely unprofessional. I advised him I would be checking out of property and expected a full refund. When I got to the property he had some derogatory remarks regarding blue gloves that I was wearing that are certified to handle specific medical applications which I need and I proceeded to let him know that I did not feel comfortable with him and advised him to call the police. I felt unsafe with his behavior. I have this interaction on video as well as my request to get the police on site. Its all on video so Thomas can say what he wants but I have it all recorded. You cant evict me when I was already checking out of the bed bug ridden hotel. I recommend staying far away from this property. I will be taking the billing issue up with my credit card company since the GM wouldn't resolve it. He told me to "take him to court." I have photos and videos so this issue is well documented. I also have his lack of professionalism on video and will be addressing with corporate. The front desk personnel was nothing but nice and professional. They deserve proper recognition.

We spent one night in Del Mar on our road-trip in California. Best Western was a nice hotel with clean and charmingly furnished rooms. We did not have the time to enjoy the pool, yet the walk to the city was short and convenient. Also, the trip to San Diego was not too long.

I called last minute to take a minute to relax after moving locally. Carlos answered to front desk phone and was more than a pleasure. He supported my request when I shared with him the last minute experience I was looking for. He was funny laughing at my silly jokes and upon arrival made sure I had exactly what I had asked for over the phone. Thank you Carlos! In the morning when we had breakfast I was met by Ariel at the cafe on property. She was an absolute doll. Made sure my breakfast was customized to exactly how I wanted it. Bathrooms were down and she made sure to take care of me with just a personal touch for the inconvenience and made sure I knew right where to go and apologize profusely. Her brother worked there as well and the conversation was great along with the music they were sharing. Thanks you two for bringing a smile to my face in the morning. These are the reasons why we come to these places or the reason why we return.

Although not directly on the Ocean, this Del Mar Hotel offered great ocean views from our third floor balcony. We found the entire property to be very relaxing and although kind of tight -- no rolling lawn etc -- it was cute and personable. The room was quite luxurious and comfy. With the balcony door open at nighttime you got the ocean breeze as well as the sound of the waves. The little kitchen area was perfect for preparing some fruit, crackers and cheese that we enjoyed with a bottle of wine -- there were glasses -- on the balcony at sunset. Lovely. We decided to try the little cafe for some dinner and there was an ocean view peeking around the building. Unlike most Best Westerns this Premier property did not offer a complimentary buffet breakfast, but gave a small discount at the cafe for breakfast.

The concierge staff were very friendly and helpful, we arrived very early and they expedited our check in, the hotel is clean and welcoming, our room was spacious with a great coffee/tea set up along with an ample sized fridge and microwave. It is located just a short walk from the hub of shops and restaurants in town, (5 minutes). The pool and and cafe were an added bonus!

It´s a nice hotel. Don´t expect ultra modern design or ammenities. Rooms are simple, but they have everything you need. Free parking, which is great. The café is not that great. I like the hotel, I have stayed there a couple of times. Nothing fancy, but perfectly functional.

The Best Western is an older hotel that has been beautifully restored and updated. Our king size room overlooked the ocean and had a delightful ocean breeze. We were on the second floor and the view was partially obstructed. The third floor would be better. It has a restaurant for breakfast and dinner which is three star, just OK. The room was well equipped with a Keurig, microwave and refrigerator. It is a definite repeat when we return. Unlike most area hotels the parking is free, quite a money saver.

This Hotel feels a Vacation ! Hospitality,Decor, outside grounds and pool pro Landscaped with that Holiday feel. Inside lounge area and fresh coffee with real cream is a plus. I really enjoy this hotel when I am in Del Mar. The location is great and they have the MOST COMFORTABLE mattresses! I get such a good night's sleep there. The rooms are very nice and clean. Everything is nice and the parking is free.

Close to the action of Del Mar's beachy beach scene, this [seemingly] resident-hotel turned-Inn is well situated, well priced (for Del Mar, anyway) and has effusively engaged employees, to the person appeared to like their jobs (what a refreshing change!). We had two rooms in the back of the hotel on the third floor, that faced the ocean. Literature claimed an ocean view but you might have to squint your eyes to feel like you're actually near the ocean. There is a small balcony with two chairs to sit and breathe those close ocean ions. There was a small wall kitchen, with a microwave and petit frig. The room was spotless, to the point you could eat off of the floor. Our rooms had two double beds, and after asking to be moved to a king, my guess is that a lot of families stay here and parents park their kids in double rooms, and stay next door or down the hall in the king. The hallway carpets showed signs of children running with colored drinks, but other than that, it was well maintained. We ran into several people going to the track, and a couple of families enjoying the pool. There's a small cafe next to the pool, who employ a poor lad who had a great attitude, but zero skills at handling a line of hungry, thirsty folks. That said, the food was good and the coffee, great. Next door is a dog park, just in case you get a pang for your pooch left at home. The lady at the front desk steered us to the Exotic Bird Sanctuary down the road to spend an hour, and it was fab. My husband had a bird climb on his hand and proceed to regurgitate a banana onto his hand, in an apparent mating ritual to show my husband the bird was a skilled family provider. Endearingly strange. We also walked 10 minutes from the hotel to L'Auberge, where we attended a wedding, and there are several sidewalk restaurant/bars near L'Auberge that served okay fare (again, those ocean ions!). Loved the historic photos in the hallway next to the "library" that show pre crowd Del Mar Beach. Choose a room at the back of the hotel if you can, because the hotel faces the major driving artery.

Management & Staff were wonderful. Property is well maintained and very intimate. Certain Oceanview room views are partially blocked by the Commercial and Guest Laundry Building; that is quite noisy. The small but adequate dining facility is very nice with a limited menu of good food. The Property's Location in Del Mar is very convenient.

We spent two days at this lovely small property. The employees were very pleasant and professional. The rooms were very comfortable, especially the beds. Bathroom was very nice and plenty of storage space. Very nice pool and hot tub. Beautifully landscaped pool area that makes you forget you are right off of PCH! Cafe Del Mar, a small food outlet is attached to the hotel property. We found the food for breakfast here to be fresh and delicious. Very nice setting here also with plenty of outside seating. Located a mile from the beach and about another half mile to Del Mar Racetrack. Highly recommend this property and look forward to another visit!

We were here for just one night, but I wish it was longer. It is an easy walk to the numerous shops and restaurants nearby, and just a bit farther is the ocean. You can walk on the beach, photograph the surfers, or sit on a bench to contemplate life. The room was clean, good linens and towels, and good water pressure. When we had a circuit issue with one set of plugs in the room (bedside lamp and clock), the response time was prompt and we were compensated for our inconvenience with a coupon for the on-site cafe. Breakfast there was wonderful, fresh vegetables in omelets made to order, and a variety of fruit. I would return, with pleasure!!!

Great front desk staff! Very helpful . Great room and amenities although a little smaller than we expected. Loved the pool area. Very quiet and away from the road. The restaurant on site was very good also. Beach access is about 6 blocks away but not a long walk. Suggest getting on an upper floor to enjoy a better view of the ocean and sunset. Our reservation stated a microwave in the room but we had a stove ...no microwave. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. Would definitely stay here again.

First off, the hotel is very nice and we experienced no issues while we were there. We had a family emergency with my Mom at home and called the hotel 2 days prior to our reservation date with the hope that we could cancel so we could return home to care for Mom. The hotel GM, Tim, was completely inflexible and told us that we did not provide the required 4 days notice to cancel. He stated that if everyone did this, it would be a huge problem for the hotel. Even after explaining emergency nature of the situation, he still would not agree. We had to inconvenience my brother to take care of Mom so we would not forfeit $300. This was a Monday night. This seems out of character with a normal Best Western property, where if you cancel in a reasonable amount of time, there is no problem. But since this is a Best Western "Premier" property, they've got an attitude to go along with their high price tag. Just be sure if you have to cancel, you give them enough notice.

Save your time & money and find a different place to stay! The “ocean view” is obscured, beds are like a rock, totally outdated rooms/furniture/appliances. Manager was out for the day & could not even be called to work our or issues so we went to a Hilton. Also got charged the night for not staying & the manager said he couldn't do anything about that even though the staff working the night before said we could be refunded the entire price if the manager approved it.

This hotel is highly outdated! The beds are hard as rocks. DONT BOOK HERE!!!! Save your self the headache. The rooms smell like a old cabin. The microwave and fridge are extremely vintage and are in bad condition. The sell it as a ocean view and the entire view is obstructed. Be Aware of false advertising in third party websites. Avoid this location. I travel all around the country and I never been more disappointed in a Best Western Premier.

nice room, property area and amenities but make sure to ask your room location before booking it specially if your coming late on check in....make sure if booking for a ocean view or just a pool view. no breakfast unless you pay extra at restaurant.

Great location for downtown Del Mar Decent price except for the fact they charged me $120 to check in early (1pm) for a room that was already clean. I needed to drop off luggage and change so sucked it up.

This is a quaint, wonderful hotel. Not a lot of frills, but all the basics are available (pool, sauna, coffee, cafe/restaurant, gym room, etc.). It has a light, bright feel to it. It's very clean, well maintained and well run. I've stayed here approximately 150 night in the last 1.5 years, so I know the place quite well. There are two notable difference-makers: 1- As great a staff as you could ever hope for. Really terrific people. I think if you stay someplace a lot, this is very important. To a person, this is a great crew. 2- The location is tough to beat. There are real ocean views from half the rooms (and balconies to enjoy the views from), and it's 5 minute walk to the center-ish area of Del Mar. It's a beautiful setting and the hotel fits in well. All rolled together, this is a fantastic place to stay and I'm personally lucky to have found this property given how often i need to be In the area.

We had a 3rd floor room facing the ocean with a balcony. The place was sparkling clean. I loved the soft green color of the tile in the bathroom. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The pool was great. The staff was so kind and caring. We had an awesome breakfast at the cafe. All in all we had a wonderful stay.

This was our final stay on a 28 day trip down the West Coast. The third BW hotel we'd stayed in and easily the best by far, clean , comfy with all the amenities you need. The staff were brilliant with nothing being too much trouble. The Hotel is well place being just a short walk from Del Mar itself and a short drive from San Diego. Would use again with no problem at all

This place is one of my favorite places to stay at. Yes, it is a bit pricey...but it is worth it. The staff is so kind and I always enjoy eating at the restaurant that is near the hotel with the view of the beach. What a jewel with convenient access to San Diego and much more. Rooms are super clean...you are sure to love it!

This hotel is only 2 blocks from the beach, and can be < $150/night (pre-tax) during peak season. The room is comfortable, and the Wifi is great. There's no free breakfast, but the onsite bistro makes great food cooked to order, at a reasonable price. I love to take my coffee down to the cliffs overlooking the beach (2 blocks away) once per visit, and watch the train go by. The hotel has a beachy feel and decor, and is one of my favorite places to stay in Del Mar. If you go to the bistro, make sure to say 'Hi' to the friendly little mermaid 'Ariel'!

Considering this is Best Western's top tier product, was a little disappointed. First off, google maps will give you the wrong Best Western when this hotel is searched for, so be careful. The infrastructure is dated with essentially a "fresh coat of paint". There is no HBO. Not sure if there was a complimentary continental breakfast. Overall, their lower tier products seem to offer a better value.

Stayed in King room with ocean view balcony, would select that room again. Clean rooms with fridge and microwave, and LOUD air conditioning, but it worked great. Bed was too firm for our liking but we did sleep ok. Walking distance to restaurants, but not to the beaches...unless you like going down very steep dirt trails and crossing RR tracks. Parking is expensive at the beach unless you go early and get a spot at a meter, then it's only $3/hr...vs$7/hr at pay lot.

I loved this place and will be back. The people that work there are always smiling and willing to help you. The employees at the restaurant are nice as well and good is good. My daughter loved the location and my husband. We will be back to this location again. Bonus the pool.

Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and attractive. Dinning was lacking. Hours of operation were were sometimes inconvenient. Grounds were attractive and parking accessible. Staff were helpful with off site reccommendations for dining.

With an excellent view of the Pacific Ocean, the rooms are great. The service is excellent, and the property is situated in a quiet area of Del Mar. Being here for a conference at The Scripps Research Institute, this was an ideal location to stay. The shuttle service the hotel offered to and from the institute was prompt, and the driver was quite a pleasant person to deal with.

An otherwise nice stay at this inn was spoiled by the no customer service saavy of hotel staff. We booked on a prepaid third party site and were told they only place these types in their small 1 queen rooms. We negotiated an upgrade to a king room but it was tough. Lovely pool area with a cozy cafe attached. Room was small but a nice tiled walk in shower. It seems they have their own rules that do not help customers or create return visits. Laundry room worked but in an outside odd shed. This should be in the main bldg for comfort. On a rainy day this must be hard for housekeeping. We liked Solana Beach and La Jolla better than Del Mar. Next time, we will choose one of these 2 towns for a base.

The staff were all very helpful from check in to check out and all the questions we had about the area. The ocean view from our room was a plus! Was able to sit on balcony and watch the dolphins swim by. Would stay here again.

This is a charming, small hotel in a convenient location. We opted for a room with ocean view which was a tiny balcony but lots of ocean to see. It does overlook the parking lot which has normal noise of people coming and going. But still was worth the upgrade. The room was clean, comfortable and I'd definitely stay there again. It's a pleasant 10 minute walk to the beach and park area which are spectacular. The small cafe on site has basic food at bargain prices. Pretty pool area on site.

This is actually a great hotel in a nice location -- the staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. This was my third time staying here, and I stayed in a ocean-view room. The problem this time was the morning noise which seemed to start daily around 7:30 AM. There is ambient neighborhood noise in this location, which the hotel cannot control (occasional dog barking, beach helicopters and small planes)....but the hotel can control staff noise. The cleaning and maintenance staff were friendly but very noisy starting around 7:30 to 8:00 AM. There's no excuse for noisy cleaning staff when you are paying somewhat pricey hotel rates -- if I was running this hotel, I would train them NOT to whistle or yell back and forth in the hallways or outside the building at ANY time. Vacuuming should start no earlier than check out time. Come on, del mar inn/best western -- these are hospitality no-brainers. Tune it up, or you will lose business, as you have lost mine. This hotel would be ideal for people who naturally wake up around 7 AM.

We chose this hotel because the rates were lower in comparison to San Diego, however it's not too much of a drive from major attractions. The neighbourhood is safe, we walked at night and didn't see any suspicious people. In the morning you can have a breathtaking walk along the beach. In the evening, Del Mar has various dining options to offer. We have stayed in beautiful room overlooking the ocean. It was a renovated room. From our understanding, hotel is more than 100 yo and is in very good condition for its age. Staff is very friendly.

it was very easy to book via phone, it has a small inn kind of feel to it. Easy to check in and it has enough parking which you cant always count on in this area. The price was not out of line -again for the area which is unusually high. I was in town for a business conference -trade show so it was a place to stay. Breakfast place is separate from the hotel and the transactions there unless you are using cash are overly complex - using some coupon system with the hotel etc has been made unnecessarily difficult for some reason. It almost has what I want in a perfect business hotel - clean and quiet - yes, free parking - yes, free wifi - yes free breakfast - nope - you get some discount coupon or something or other -the the people at the little external cafe tried to explain why they cant take this or do this and that - but eventually I hear charlie browns teacher and nod then leave - I skipped the over priced nonsense breakfast thing and and stopped someplace else for 1/4 the price. If they could figure out how to get the breakfast thing fixed it would be perfect or dont offer anything that just frustrates the guests. I would stay there again when in the area -which will probably be next years event.
