"Gross"
Pool area is a joke. Lack of staff made slide dangerous, kids filling the hot tub (no room for adults, even though sign said age16+), and a gross mess everywhere...like dirty diapers & trash laying everywhere. Breakfast was also a hot mess, a nasty nasty mess. Felt like cattle getting shuttled through with no place to sit & eat.
"Nice Stay"
This is the second time staying at this hotel. Overall experience was great. Great breakfast and lots of things for families to do. Our kids love the pool area, only complaint is water was a little cool. Didn't seem to bother the kids, but adults were cold. We would stay here again!
"Horrible Experience"
I have stayed at this hotel before but this was by far the worst ever hotel experience. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL IF THERE ARE ANY TOURNAMENTS IN TOWN! The hotel was noisy with this group by both the kids and adults. The adults were even more noisy than the kids and continued till after midnight.

"Room not available at check in time of 4pm."
Only one front desk attendant working at check in time of 4pm. Room was not ready at 4pm, waited 30 minutes for room that was not properly cleaned as mattress pad on pullout couch had blood stains from previous guests. No linen in room for pullout couch, had to wait for convenience of one front desk staff to bring linen to room so I could put my children to bed. Pool was overrun by guests not staying overnight and guests swimming in clothing. Don't know that we will return.

"Over crowded"
Pool area is always way over crowded with kids and birthday parties and people that are not even staying in the rooms. If your family wants to enjoy these things then go somewhere else! The hallways were filthy with food and trash all over the floors. Our room was next to the highway and could hear the vehicles driving all night long.

"Pool"
I am recovering from back surgery so I need to work in the pool. They let me use their pool even though I am not staying there. They charge 10 bucks which I think is pretty high for about an hour in the pool. Last time I was there it was very cold. Air was cold also. So a lose lose situation. Hot tub was warm but dirty

"Doctor trip family of 5"
We cane down for medical appointments which ended up being canceled. They worked with us so we didn't get charged for the nights we didn't stay. The manager truly seemed to care about my family, making sure we were well taken care of.

"Comfortable stay"
We enjoyed the roominess of the executive king room. Would have been awesome if fireplace had worked. It was a very comfortable stay and we will stay there again. The guy at front desk was very personable and helpful.

Rest assured, we are working on getting this fixed and soon as we possibly can. We hope to see you again in the future!
"One Night Stay"
Kids loved the pool. The splash pad was closed but the slide kept them occupied. The staff were kind and let us stay an hour late so the kids could play in the pool longer. The hotel has been updated since the previous ownership. The breakfast was great.

Hi kristenl915, Thank you for your review and your business. We appreciate your feedback! I am happy to hear that you were satisfied with your stay with us. I apologize that the splash pad was closed, it has since been reopened as we had found the part to fix it. We hope to see you again in the future!
"Freezing cold"
Water park area and water was so cold it wasn't enjoyable at all. Door wouldn't lock and when we flipped the little silver lock if someone wanted in, all they would of had to push and screws would of came out of wall.
"Pools were freezing and rooms were rundown and dirty"
Pretty disappointed. Our family booked rooms here to stay a night and enjoy the pool and the kids didn't even want to swim the pools were so cold. The kiddie pool was the worst. It felt like literal ice water. The big pool was bearable but not comfortable. The hot tub was the only thing that had a decent temperature and it was crammed with children. The rooms left a lot to be desired. It was pretty rundown and needing some fresh paint. There was also hair in the beds stuck to the sheets. The shower had terrible water pressure and the water was either burning hot or freezing cold. The beds were pretty comfortable but that was about the only positive experience.
"Mayo Trip"
Beautiful hotel, great location. This was very close to Mayo and St Mary with a shuttle that runs every 40 minutes. This made a bad experience much easier to handle. The staff was honestly amazing and made our 8 day stay easier.
"Best Western Rochester Excellent"
We rented the breakfast room for my family holiday party; it went extremely well and the service was beyond expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also had rooms for guest from out out town-- the rooms were very clean and the POOL area is outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!!

The room was neat and tidy. The hotel was quiet and friendly staff. Waterside was fun. Hot tub was good. Temps of pool and hot tub good. Bed comfortable. Close to the mayo and apache shopping mall. Reasonable price.

"Birthday party haven"
The primary purpose of this hotel seems to be kids' birthday parties. The pool and hot tub were way over capacity all weekend. Toddler pool is overrun with big kids. Kids running through hallways. Staff were very kind and helpful, rooms were clean, but do not go there and expect peace and quiet.
Richard Bernik, General Manager at Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's, responded to this review
Dear aeb55555, Thank you for your review and your business. We appreciate your feedback. We are sorry you weren't satisfied with the hotel due to kids' birthday parties taking over the hotel. I am happy to hear that the rest of your stay was good. We hope to see you again in the future!
"27 Kids from a Birthday Party Utilizing the Pool & Hot Tub!"
We were never notified of 27 kids from a birthday party utilizing the pool and hot tub! Also, weren't notified that the kiddie pool was out-of-order. Then the hot tub was also out-of-order the following morning! We drove 1.5 hours to this hotel and paid to stay at the hotel for two nights so we can use the pool exclusively! Spoke to the manager (Aaron Hensley) at the hotel and he said he'll provide a discount. I've called him and left a voicemail after the stay and still haven't heard back and no discount was given. Quite disappointed!

Dear Nancy T, On behalf of our entire team I would like to apologize for not meeting your expectations during your stay with us. I am sorry to hear your kids were not able to use or enjoy the kiddie pool during your stay. Unfortunately the pump went out and we had to shut it down. It was not planned. Hot tub also needed to be shut down for cleaning as well. I apologize if no one has gotten back to you regarding your stay. We hope you would be willing to give us another chance. If your willing please reach out to the hotel directly and ask to speak with the general manager. I would like the opportunity to give you a better experience by setting up your next stay or visit personally for you. Thank you!
"Best Western Stay"
Staff was very nice and helpful! We held a child's birthday party there. Had easy access to the pool and pool area which was clean. The Wi-Fi needs some improvement. When I'm back in Rochester I'll probably stay there again.

"Terrible don't stay. Rooms was filthy"
Room had stains and spots on walls. Hair in tub. Stains on bedding. They had more than 1 birthday party going on. So many kids running all over hotel. My poor daughter couldn't even get in pool since there was so many kids. Will never stay again. Workers didn't even look professional. They had on a regular sweatshirts. Only way I knew they were workers was because of name tag. Don't waste your money.

"Ehh"
For a newly renovated hotel it was rather disappointing. We booked a room away from the pool to avoid the noise. Checked in and we had a pool view room. The pool area is very warm and humid which is expected for an indoor pool, but it was also in our room! The door had about an inch gap at the bottom and it was letting all the heat and noise in. We set our thermostat for 60 and I never stopped sweating. To no fault to the hotel the pool area is an absolute mad house. It was shoulder to shoulder people in the pool. They don't allow drinks in the pool area so all the parents let their kids run free in the pool and occasionally check in on them. Teens were playing catch with a ball at the bottom of the slide so as you came off the slide you'd hit them. Breakfast was good, no complaints there. They also didn't have the hours right on the pool. We were done with breakfast at 8 and the signs said pool opens at 9, water slide at 10. My kids didn't want to wait two hours. So we packed up and as we were leaving at 9, sure enough, the water slide turned on. All and all we won't be back.
"Very good!"
Best Western hotel was very friendly with excellent customer service. The room was clean and spacious! The price was $20 more including discounts from Mayo clinic but you get so much more at Best Western hotel! Would recommend to friends and family.

"Great family stay!"
We surprised our grandkids by meeting them while the oldest went for chemo at Mayo Clinic. We had to switch hotels to find a pet friendly. The pool was amazing. The slides were a big hit! The staff was so friendly! Great price for our stay. We will come back!

Wi-Fi wasn't working. Breakfast staff needs to change her glove before touching food after cleaning. Front desk staff was amazing. Cleaning staff friendly. Great location-the shuttle to the Mayo is great! Driver was friendly.

"Love This Place"
This is a favorite for my grandson and me to stay and play in the pool. The updated rooms are wonderful, and the staff are simply the best. They are so warm and engaging and make you feel at home. They truly want you to enjoy your stay. The team at this hotel ROCK!

"Great stay on our visit to the Gold Rush"
Close to the highway we needed to get to Oronoco for the Gold Rush. The entrance is a little strange as you have to go through a large parking lot, but it was no problem. Lovely lobby and pleasant staff for check in. The desk clerk suggested we stay on the 3rd floor, away from the noise of the pool area... which was much appreciated. The room was spacious and clean, but did need a little touch up paint in the bathroom. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Internet signal was intermittent... my only complaint! We didn't have kids along, but the pool area would have been great if we did... waterslide, basketball hoop and a kiddie area with fountains. What we did utilize was the large hot tub... spacious enough to hold many guests and nice and hot! It would have been nice to have an adults only hour for the pool, as it was quite noisy. Breakfast was good both days... eggs and breakfast meats as well as mini pancakes for the hot items, plus the usual fruits, pastries & cereals. The staff kept it fresh and well stocked. Overall a great stay!

"Wedding venue"
Son and daughter-in-law were married on Saturday at the Empire. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend empire venue for anyone getting married. Nice to have hotel right there as no one needed to travel from wedding to hotel

We have been making big strides on the property to ensure the guest experience is a memorable one. Feel free to reach out to discuss more. Thank you!
"The only place I stay at when I go to the Mayo Clinc"
Great place to stay. Very accommodating and helpful with any special needs. I periodically go to the Mayo Clinic and this is the only place I stay. Great parking, Richard and staff are amazing and the breakfast always has something good to eat.
"Look no further:)"
My family was visiting Rochester for business/medical purposes. We highly recommend Best Western Rochester. The bfast was excellent, the location was clean, and the manager and staff was very accommodating and helpful. Don't look any further. We live 1.5 hours away and stayed for convenience between appointments. The pool area is awesome for the kiddos/family. Water slide, kiddy pool and other bigger pool were clean and comfortable.
"Hidden gem"
The staff were amazing, the room was spacious and cozy, the price was affordable, great location, and Aaron at the front desk was super friendly. The pool area and spa are really great. The food was decent.
"Great hotel and staff"
We were at the Mayo Clinic for a health issue. The staff was great to work with and the hotel was a great value. They were able to accommodate all of our requests and were great to work with. We will definitely use this hotel sgain. It was also 5 minutes from the hospital. Great location.
"Great Place to Stay in Rochester Minnesota"
Staff went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. They helped me with information that helped me make an exceptionally good reservation for the next night! Also, they advised me how to cancel my reservation and get my money back. I even got good directions for getting to another hotel for meeting with a friend. We were incredibly happy with our stay at this hotel and will stay here again if in the area!
"BW Rochester"
Nice hotel, good location. Close to food ,shopping and gasoline. Caring staff and clean room. I would recommend this hotel for its location and cleanliness. My room was upgraded to a suite which was also a very nice surprise. Thank you
"Good for One day trip"
We enjoyed that this hotel was used for our entire baseball team and the kids enjoyed the pool amenities. We were pleased with the size of the room as it had 2 queen beds. Breakfast was definitely a plus because we had 4 kids and dining out with back to back baseball games was not ideal especially early morning. What we did not like is that the entire facility not including the Front desk area felt extremely humid, including our room. Our bedroom and bathroom Linens felt very damp and humid, having the air conditioner did not make a difference, it only made us more cold and use our humid feeling blankets. The bathroom had black spotting on the ceiling, almost looked like mold, this was brought up to the front desk. The Tub in the bathroom did not have a cover to run a bath for our youngest kids and it was clogged, it took about 4 minutes to drain the collected water completely. We liked that everything was close in distance.
"Great service, updated room"
The room has been updated since my last stay. The pools are clean and the common areas tidy. The front desk staff were friendly and the breakfast attendant was on top of making sure things were stocked.
"Hotel was nice, but room lacked."
The pool and common areas were clean and well kept. The room didn't cool well even with air conditioning on high all night. Room 101 was the first room in the pool area and we kept waking up all night when the electronic door entering the pool was activated. As it made our door vibrate. Would definitely request a different room.
"Best Western"
This hotel has a great staff, the breakfast was fantastic, the rooms are spacious, clean and we enjoyed our time.. The pool is worth talking about! But you need to come see it , that's all I'm going to say!
"District Exchange Convention"
We just completed our Annual District Convention for our Service Club. This Facility was exceptional. But mostly the experience with ALL the staff was Exceptional. I would highly rate and recommend this facility to anyone who wants a great experience whether for Business, Conference or family time together. You won't be dissapponted.
"Wonderful stay!"
The staff was friendly and helpful! Diligent about keeping everything clean/sanitized. Very happy! Will stay here again! Family loved the pool and didn't want to leave. The breakfast was wonderful- great selection.
"Perfect location and price"
I stayed here the night before my NCLEX as they share the same parking lot so it's nice and close! I'm so glad I did! Hot tub felt great, room was quiet, just what I needed to get a good night sleep before the big test!
Richard Bernik, General Manager at Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's, responded to this review
Dear jjordan7416, Thank you for the kind response. Being able to relax before a big test is key to success and I'm glad we were able to be that relaxation for you. If you ever need to come back to Rochester, we would love to have you stay with us again.
"Nice pool area"
Hosted a birthday party in poolside family suite. The hotel could have been more cleanly and it would have appeared nicer however we got a good deal on a family suite and spent most of our time at the pool area which was not too busy. Thank you

Dear kimbermcgowan, Thank you for the review and responses to let us know where we stand. "Best Western Hotel Rochester MN. 8 mons from Mayo Building Downtown"
Hotel looks bad on the outside but was very nice on the inside with updates. Front desk staff on first impression were nice. When first calling for reservations was told he was to busy and to call back in a hour which was crazy for me to think they are turning away business. But I still booked then online for the Mayo Discount since I had appointment there. They were great with late check out until 1pm if needed or for extending my stay a extra day. The room was large 2 queen with pull out bed. The beds/pillows were super soft and comfortable. The pull out bed was ok but they didn't supply any extra sheets or pillows at all for the extra bed which is crazy. Luckily we had brought a extra pillow and blanket for my son to sleep with. Bathroom was great with separation between the toilet and makeup counters area. Breakfast was nice and hot. The pool area was amazing. The kids really liked the pool, waterslide and baby pool. The hot tube was nice as well for adults except for a few things. 1} when other parents kids would jump in to it and float with floaties even when their parents were not even using the hot tub. Which for a adult who just wants to relax with out having someone kid splashing you. 2} To much bubbles floating everywhere which showed like dirt in them which was kind of gross. They also were out of pool towels which took them awhile to replenish but finally did. The game room all the games where not working and eat our money. So those would need to be fixed, so be aware parents. Cleaning staff were nice when they would be around. On the 2nd day the pool was down because of issues but where able to reopen the next day but then they decided to clean the hot tub so that was down which is the only thing I wanted to go in. So suggestion would be to have this done when closing on Sunday night since it takes 1 day to do according to the maintence person. So always ask if you plan on using the pool or hot tube. Other then that it was close to the Mayo building and shopping, plus restaurant. Pizza hut delivered within 20 mins or less.

Dear tiffanyschiffer, Thank you for staying with us on property in Rochester. Also thank you for the review and the feedback as it helps us make improvements for future visits. I do apologize you were turned away on the phone when first called, that is definitely something I will be addressing with the Front Desk staff. I do know that sometimes during peak hours (i.e. Check in hours and check out hours) that the phone lines do get a little backed up. I also would like to apologize about the pool and hot tub being down for maintenance, the hot tub does get cleaned on a regular basis due to mandates in order to operate the hot tub. Unfortunately, we do try and do our cleaning on slower days which ends up during the week days. We are currently experimenting with a couple different ideas of how to control the hot tub and who is in the tub itself. I would like to welcome you back to the property next time in the area.
"Family get together"
We were able to meet and be with family we haven't seen in a few years. People from FL, IA, WI, MN gathered and were able to hang out and the little kids were able to enjoy the water park. The weekend we staid was booked full and service was still very friendly and proficient. Excellent Breakfast!!

Hearing that the staff on property was friendly and pleasant makes me proud of the property. I would like welcome you back to stay with us on property.
"Hotel Staff"
We stayed three nights here for a wrestling tournament. Staff here were amazing, kind, and helpful. They worked hard to keep the towels stocked for the pool and keep the place clean. I also appreciated that they kept to the 10 pm pool closing time. We will definitely stay here next year again.

I would like to welcome you back next year for your next tournament, or just a vacation away from home.
"Trip to Mayo Clinic"
We stayed there to go to Mayo Clinic. The hotel was clean, the staff very friendly, kind and accommodating. Breakfast started at 7 and we caught shuttle to Mayo at 6:07am so no breakfast or to go bag.
"Poor hotel for the money"
Pool was great. Room, not so much. Curtain rod hanging by a screw, housekeeping knocking at our door at 10:30, when check out was at 11:00, prank calls by kids during the night. Didn't even have a pool side room and the price was $177. Wouldn't stay again for the price.
"Only place I stay in Roch"
We love the pool & claw machines :) last time we stayed, they weren't doing breakfast bcuz of covid. Its back up and going now & very impressive. Very polite staff. Clean rooms always, & the internet is STRONG.
"Great value for your money"
The hotel was clean and service was great. The pool area was fun and my grandkids loved the water slide and hot tub. The breakfast had a nice selection of hot and cold food…there was something for everyone!
"Our stay"
Having a water park/splash zone for littles in the middle of the hotel is super cool. Breakfast was good. Which the hotel was more “sound-proof”. Could hear people above us and walking/running down the halls.
"Great stay!"
I have stayed at this hotel twice now, the hotel is clean and nice! Beds are comfy! The pool is awesome for my kiddos when we come up this direction! And by far the best complementary hotel breakfast!
"Nice, updated property within easy driving distance to Mayo Clinic"
Nice properly with many updates. If housekeeping did a little better job this would be a great place to stay. Great full breakfast and although we didn't use it, the pool area was great, especially for kids.
"Great hotel"
This hotel surpasses our expectations! The rooms had recess lighting and were bright and wecloming. The pool was also great. The kids loved the slide and toddler play area. Great hotel. I highly recommending staying there!
"Staycation"
This place was pretty good for a staycation there aren't many places where you can take your kids to play in the pool and have a good family time overnight the staff was pretty good the rooms were great I would suggest getting the room with a separate living area with kids!! Would definitely go back!!
"Stay was good enough to go again"
Certainly not the greatest hotel we have used, but good enough to return. The rooms were cleaned in main areas but weren't deep cleaned in a long time. Kids pool water was cool almost too cool with the cold air temp, and the hot tub was not working on our stay. Our kids had a decent time and the price is decent for the amenities.
"Christmas gathering"
Aaron helped me with the reservation and he was soo professional! His customer service skills are top notch! He checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were having a great time!!! Hard to find that kind of service these days so THANK YOU AGAIN AARON! We rented the breakfast area for our gift opening, eats, games, etc and it was a PERFECT space for that!! The pool waterpark area was a huge hit with everyone as well. The free breakfast was awesome! Hot and cold options which was great! Clean rooms, awesome service, and the amenities were perfect! We will definitely be booking here again for other get togethers.
"Room was not clean"
The room still had garbage from last guest the pull out bed had dirty sheets on it yuck .... one of the queen beds was broke you sit on one end of the bed a d the bed would go flying off ... not cool and with someone with a disability it was not nice ... they tried to fix but never did ... the bathroom still had garbage tampons and hair all over from previous guests as well
"Impressed"
Our experience was great. Front desk staff were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed at a poolside suite. The room was decorated well and furniture/beds were comfortable. Plenty of space to stretch out. Everything was very functional. The closet in the room was a nice surprise. We celebrated our sons birthday party here and bought bracelets for his friends to swim, they had lots of fun. We would definitely return again. We have stayed in resorts that didn't have the friendliest staff, the staff at best western made this experience amazing. Thank you for making my sons birthday one to remember.
"A great hotek"
The room was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable. The hotel has a shuttle to the Mayo Clinic, which was convenient to use. There is a large pool area with a kiddie pool and a regular pool with a water slide. The staff is friendly and professional.
"Not again"
Was there week of Dec 14-17 2021. NOT NEAR ST.MARY'S NOR MAIN CAMPUS. NO HOTEL SHUTTLE BUS, BUT IS RATHRER, A STOP ON A BUS COMPANY'S ROUTE. To get to an appointment, a cab ($20) or lyft ($10) works, shuttle is not a best option. There are better hotels at better locations at same price point. Female behind the counter was particularly rude, or maybe just dumb. I would not hire her. NO ADA BARS IN THE BATHROOM!! Thus shower/bub were quite unsafe for senior citizen. GOOD PARKING, as hotel is in a mall parking lot. (Parking is an issue in Rochester) Room needs LOTS of TLC...hollow core door (room 109) being held together with layers of paint.
"NOT Best Western Standards"
We arrived to a dirty room. Bathroom floor was sticky and filthy. 1st night the bathtub backed up and would not drain. We requested housekeeping service per hotel policy. No one cleaned, emptied garbage, made beds, refreshed towels, NOTHING! Following evening, the toilet backed up. No one answered the front desk phone, walked down and was sent back with a plunger and told to “grab some pool towels.” We fixed the situation. Once again put the housekeeping sign out. Once again NOTHING was done. Plunger and nasty toilet water towels were still in the bathroom. AWFUL STAY! Not to mention very noisy.
"Exceptional"
Thank you to all that work at BW for the exceptional stay! This is the 2nd time in the last 12 months we have stayed at this location. Everyone is helpful and treats you as if you were family. The hotel is clean and we enjoyed our stay.

"Depressing Experience"
Dumpy, smelly room with lowest quality furniture we've ever seen in a hotel. Broken light switch in bathroom. Constant barking dog in next room so we checked out a day early. When checking out we were pretty much told that while they did not disclose they had a dog in the room is was our bad luck. Goodbye. No apology, no discount and don't let the door hit you on your way out.

"Staff members were extremely accommodating and helpful!"
We had several special requests which were happily met by staff members even though it was as an extremely busy time of year, MEA break for schools. We had many family members traveling with us and all food services were excellent. The quality of food combined with the reasonable prices were enjoyed by dozens of our family members.

"Best stay ~ western or any direction"
We stayed here prior to appointments at MAYO. Our bed was super comfortable, our room spacious and immaculate. The color and decor of the entire hotel was up to date and classy. The pool was closed during our visit but would make a great adventure for families with it's water slide and wading area. The fitness area accommodates most exercise desires. Breakfast was a nice treat ~ "make your own waffles", sausage links, scrambled eggs, juice, bagels, packaged muffins, cold cereals, and most important...good coffee. We slept well, ate well, and were refreshed for our day of appointments.

"Mayo visit"
Always good service at this location. Close to good eating and shopping. Minutes from Mayo. Helpful staff. Nice rooms. Very nice pool area and lobby lounge. Have yet to eat breakfast. Appts at Mayo too early.

"No Food or Beverages in the pool area"
Overall this is an excellent place to stay. It is clean, updated and has many nice amenities. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed during the week so it was fairly quiet. Be aware that there are pet rooms. Fortunately the dog staying next to me seldom barked. My one suggestion for improvement would be to allow beverages in the pool area. I realize that some people will abuse this right but I would like to think that the majority would use the option responsibly.

"stayed here 3 different times"
We stayed here 3 different times as I like the large rooms. The first time was a 2 night stay. The mattress was very uncomfortable so I asked to be moved to a different room. I have never done this before but I just couldn't sleep on that mattress again. Was moved right away. the room we were moved into has a smaller tv but that was OK. Rooms have always been very clean. The elevator quit working and my husband went down to front desk and they said they would fix. Husband seen maintenance man and he said he had to go flip a switch. Next time we went to use elevator it was working. Next time we stayed it was on the second floor, room was very nice but once again elevator did not work the one time we went to use it but other times it was working. Last time we stayed for one night. Remote on tv did not work, Went to front desk and asked for batteries. Gentlemen said it wasn't the batteries but some of the remotes just don't work and they were switching out the smaller tv's. that was frustrating for me and elevator again didn't work one time so husband told maintenance man and he quickly fixed it. I like this hotel as rooms are large, and always clean. Breakfast is very good except one time they were out of regular syrup but this last time they had a bottle there to use. Its just frustrating that the tv remote and the elevator doesnt always work. I am going to try a different motel this week but may return to this one at a later date.

"1 night stay"
We stayed here for the water slide/pool when we come down to the Mayo for my sons appts. It is fun for the kids to play and not just be about dr appts when we make the 4+ hour drive to Rochester. Really is relaxing after sitting at the dr seeing the kids smile, plus their is a small arcade.

"Great people working here & great stay--Newly remodeled!"
Nice stay and pleasantly surprised. Pictures online don't do it justice. Huge pool area if you have kids--rooms smelled clean and fresh and not full of bad cleaners that many hotels use. Rooms were large and it looks like a good place to have an event, etc. Breakfast decent, also!!

"Great place to take the kiddos to swim"
Traveled to MN over Labor Day weekend to visit family. I was delighted that BW had a splash pad/wadding area for kiddos, a pool, pool slide and basketball hoop at the pool. Little game area and it was a windowed ceiling. It was my 1st trip ever with my 2 dogs, husband and kiddos. Our dogs did great as they are potty trained and didn't bark. The Queen 2 bed suite was perfect size for us. Lots of room to move around and feel like a home. Everything was clean and it working order. I will be back next year for a week+ for vacation and will be staying here.

"John's celebration"
The desk person worked hard at the computer to credit gift cards to the bill. Our daughters enjoyed the sauna. Robin provided a tasty breakfast both days. We enjoyed Wildwood bar and grill which is attached to the motel.
"5 star service at 3 star price"
Favorite hotel in town, caring staff, clean room, swimming pool with slide. Very family friendly. Hot breakfast that varies daily. Involved General Manager that leads by example with strong customer service.
"This place is full of heros."
I reside in Rochester, MN. I was displace from my home (basically homeless for a while) and needed a place to stay till the repairs were made. I made reservation through price line at a Wyndham Hotels. When I arrived to check in, the refused my business. They had a policy of not renting to people who live in Rochester. A non-for-profit agency called on my behalf telling them I have no home to stay in and guaranteed payment (which I was paying on my credit card) and any damages that could possible be incurred. The manager said I look like a nice guy, but this was there policy. So they kicked me to the street. I called another Wyndham Hotel and refused me service because I live in Rochester. I travel a lot and always use Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, but never again. The price line customer service rep called five other hotels and they all refused service because I lived in Rochester. I then called Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's. They took my reservation with no hassle. Kelsey, the front desk attendant/manager greeted me with a warm smile and check in was a breeze. In my opinion she was a hero and a godsent. Professional and compassionate. Her checking me in was like seen out of a commercial, couldn't have been any better. What an angel. Do to my disability (yes the other hotel threw a disable homeless person to the street) I needed a special accommodation. A member of of the Best Western team, named Ernest was very accommodating. He was Johnny-on-the-spot on assisting me. He went out of his way to help and followed up to make sure I was ok. He is a hero. God bless Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's. I will use Best Wester in my future travel when ever possible. The breakfast there was the best that a hotel of this caliber has ever offered. Different options everyday. Plenty of protein options.
"Clean, updated rooms, great pool & breakfast"
While the exterior of the property looks old, the inside is completely updated/new and squeaky clean. New mattresses, nice towels, granite counter minibar in our suite & a big bathroom! The expanded hot breakfast was tasty, plentiful and went until 10am. There's a big water slide in the pool area, a separate kiddie pool, and a good sized hot tub.
"The best in the Midwest"
They should get a five star rating in excellence. Richard the manager, house keeping, breakfast staff all top notch. Professionalism, personalized. They knew my name after one day and were always trying to please. I have been in 48 states and around the world. On business and personal travel. This is now on top of my list af favorite places to stay. Great parking, amazing staff, awsome breakfast and did I mention awsome staff.
"Clogged toilet, remote did not work"
The hotel decoration is good. However, upon first use, we encountered plumbing issue and tv remote did not work. It took several hours before the issue is fixed. The Front desk to whom we reported the issue was less than courteous. Thankfully, the maintenance person who came was polite, courteous and was able to fixed the issues right away. The front desk personnel who handled our check out was also nice and polite. He recognized the issue and slightly adjusted our bill, a kind gesture which we appreciate.
"A Good Base"
We arrived and were able to immediately check in, however by the looks of the queue and (overheard) comments the rooms of others were not quite ready; I think there was a kids baseball tournament and everyone arrived at the same time. The room was fine and the staff friendly. Go to the SPAM museum; it's free and quirky!
"Staff was extremely rude, pick a different hotel"
Had my daughters birthday party there when i booked room a month in advance i was told we could check in at 12... not what happened the day of the party couldn't check in until 230 and that was calling several times to check on status, and paying a extra 30 dollars. When we arrived the staff was so rude to me and my guess it was embarrassing! Do yourself a favor find a different place to stay. We will never be back!!!
"Nice facility, understanding staff, good breakfast"
My husband and I stayed on Friday, July 23rd for one night. The check in process was quick and easy with our reservation. Our room, much like the hotel, was a little dated, but in very good condition. The bed was very comfortable, appliances and AC worked as needed. (AC was important, there is a large pool area in the center of one section of the hotel. It looked spacious, with multiple pools and kid-areas for all ages. Because of the pool, the hallways near our room were humid- the room was nice and cool.) TLDR: The staff were super nice! The facility, though a bit older of a hotel, was in very good condition and what matters the most (comfort, climate control, TV and internet, the price, pool area, and the super convienent location) made it an excellent choice for a visit! Thanks for the great stay!
"Great place and great service"
We spent 8 nights at the BW in Rochester while my Mom was receiving medical treatment at Mayo. The suite was wonderful for our needs, the beds comfortable, and the staff were excellent. It was close for our daily trips to the Mayo Clinic and hospital.
"Great hotel, but unable to use some amenities"
Overall, the hotel was good. Staff were kind, hotel was clean, the pool had many great features, and the layout of the hotel and parking lot was great. Our only complaint was that we were unable to enjoy the breakfast due to other hotel guests coughing all over the food. Staff witnessed this go on for fifteen minutes and did nothing. At a time when covid is a concern for many, this is something we feel the hotel should take seriously. We ended up leaving and getting breakfast elsewhere for our kids which ended up costing us money we hadn't planned to spend and also made for a tight schedule in the morning.
"Fun for family and friends"
This location has beautiful newly remodeled rooms --be sure to get the room "near the pool". They still have the older rooms in another area. Also, the "suites" have the couch in the same area as the beds, but the rooms are still very spacious. If you want a separate room, book the "FAMILY" suite. The beds were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pool area looks as amazing in person as it does online--great for toddlers and older children. The breakfast area had sausage, biscuits and premade egg to create your own sandwich as well as a waffle maker. I hope they add strawberry sauce and whipped cream in the near future. The front lobby is very welcoming and comfortable for use while waiting for other guests. There is a seafood buffet walking distance, but you'll need to drive to other food venues.
"Overnight Stop"
On cross country road trip and staying at Best Westerns along the way. The staff was very accommodating and courteous. The suite was large enough for family of four to spread out. Pet friendly. Clean.
"Great Group Stay!"
Our son plays traveling baseball and our team recently stayed at this location. During our stay, there were at least two other baseball teams and a tumbling team staying at the hotel. As you can imagine the pool got a bit crazy. The manager was super kind and simply spoke to the kids about it. The hotel also has a great yard area with sand volleyball and a restaurant/bar just out the back door. The hotel was clean and the staff was responsive. I was extremely impressed with how hard the hotel staff was working yet staying very kind. It was clear they were short-staffed, as is everyone in the hospitality industry right now, but the difference was how they stayed responsive and polite. I will 100% be recommending this hotel and returning.

"Family Friendly"
This hotel is very family friendly and safe. The water slide and pool area is fantastic. It is clean, very roomy, plenty of seating, and a such great setup. Right out of your room (1st or 2nd floor) you are at the pool. The breakfast was very sufficient and had plenty of seating as well. The staff at the front desk and the breakfast area were always nice. Would definitely recommend this hotel if your looking for this area. Folio#: 7426

"My stay"
I stayed in this property June 14-18. The hotel managers Richard & Aaron were very nice and accommodating! However Ryan ,a front desk worker was very rud, and onobnoxious, as on 6/16 we were in the pool area with 3 other quest and our kids we were eating at the table while the kids enjoyed swimming and Ryan walked up to our table and started yelling at us that we could not eat in the pool area! He was very load! I assumed that food was allowed as I had witnessed many other quest with food in the pool area and other quest had food and drinks at they're tables at this time also.! We then packed up all food and drinks and took them to our room!. While back at the pool area witnessed other quest with food and drinks at they're table. For the rest of my stay I stayed away from Ryan as apparently he had it out for me! As all other staff was very kind and helpful! Then on 11/17 a woman had some issues with her car my son Derek went to assist her Ryan was working and we had to go the front desk for some duct tape he responded"I don't have any tape" The lady then said"does maintenance have any Ryan then responded "I'm not trying to be a ____ing dick! This language and behavior is very rude and unappropriate for someone in this man's position! As this woman was out of town having car problems and staying in this hotel!!! I have never in my life had any hotel staff treat me and other quest paying to stay in a hotel to be treated like this!! We stayed in this motel as part of the USTA NATIONAL TUMBLING ASSOCIATION! As it was a host hotel for the USTA 2021 nationals competition hel in Rochester Minnesota!!!!!
"19769"
The hotel was decent at best. Pool area is great for the kids. Kind of dangerous though. No supervision and definitely needs some for that slide. Staff seemed to have an attitude. Aaron was great at checkout though. Friends that were two doors down were checked out a day early and had to pay a second deposit just to get back in their room. Completely ridiculous considering it was the hotels fault. Staff also had to go door to door to figure out who they had in their rooms because they screwed up somewhere. Spa's jets were out so couldn't really enjoy the hot tub. Talking to other guests, they also had some horrendous experiences. Also would have been nice to know that housekeeping is by request only. And this is the only hotel I've ever stayed in where they charge your card at check in for the whole amount PLUS a deposit!! That's not cool at all for those who are traveling on a budget.
"30070"
Our stay at best western was incredible from the time we checked in til we checked out. Aaron was so helpful and accomidating. We called for an early check in and then showed up a couple hours before because we drove 10 hours through the night and Aaron still got us checked in quickly so we could rest. Breakfast was an awesome bonus. The pool was incredible and my daughter spent every second possible there during our 4 day stay. should we ever return to Rochester we will be staying here again!
"Pool is a danger!"
I don't know how a hotel can have a big water slide without any sort of supervision. It's just asking for trouble. We came for a night stay with family with kids ranging in age from 6 to 3 and it was a disaster. The whole time we were in the pool area it was a rowdy dangerous place. There was a group of about 10 kids ages 12-14 that were literally walking up and down the water slide,. I watched one of them come very close to slipping and falling over the edge to the concrete below. Luckily he caught himself. Kids were going down in huge groups, on inter tubes and slamming into each other and other swimmers. A bunch of kid running up the steps knocked my 6 year old over on the steps as they ran to the top. The pool itself wasn't much better. The pool and hot tub were crowded with kids rough housing. Two teenaged kids rough housing literally barreled over my 3 year old who was right next to me in the pool. Even wearing a life jacket they pushed him under the water and scared the hell out of him. Big kids were over running the kiddie pool also. Parents were nowhere in sight. I went to the front desk to inform the employee of the dangerous conditions and her response was that the signs state swim at your own risk. She claimed she would send someone out but no one ever showed up. So this hotel clearly doesn't care about the safety of its guests. If you aren't going to enforce the rules on the signs they are worthless. This place is an accident or drowning waiting to happen. I definitely would not recommend on a weekend. As far as the rooms go they were fairly clean but run down. The fan in the bathroom was extremely loud and broken. Overall the pool issue made this whole stay a waste. I would not recommend to anyone with young kids or looking to enjoy the pool area.
"Disappointed "
I was really looking forward to staying here. My kid loves to swim, and we are used to the chaos of staying at a Waterpark but this place is something else. First, I want to say that all of the employees were WONDERFUL. The hotel needs more of them. It is severely under staffed. We stayed in a 2 room suite poolside. The room was not very clean, spiders in corners, hairs in bathrooms. One toilet did not function properly and we called maintenance. Now for the pool area, it's nice but it is an adult party zone. People do not follow any of the rules. One guest dumped a full beer in the hot tub, kids were eating powdered donuts in the pool. Drunk grownups lying in the kiddie pool. Glass containers everywhere. I could go on and on.. This hotel needs staff in the pool area. If you like a rowdy, drunken, adult party, then this is the place for you. It pains me to leave such a negative review, but wow.

Dear pink_capybara, On behalf of our entire team we would like to apologize for your experience while staying at our hotel. I have shared your review and addressed your concerns of cleanliness and toilet issue with our housekeeping and maintenance department. With restrictions beginning to lift and sporting teams resuming competitions we have seen an increase of travelers especially on the weekends. I apologize again for the behavior of a few that may have taken advantage of our lack of supervision in the pool area during your stay. We have recently added more staff to our front desk, breakfast area, and a pool attendant to help better serve our guests and avoid the situation you encountered. We hope you give us another chance in the future.
"Only Choice!"
My daughter and I stayed here as she had appointments with Mayo. The staff was very caring and helpful. The hot tub and pool area was an added bonus. This should be your only choice for accommodations.

"ADA Rooms"
This Best Western is great clean hotel but really needs to be educated on what a fully accessible wheelchair room needs to be. They have great staff and prices but to be considered the best stay for the Mayo clinic, there needs to be criteria met for ADA wheelchair rooms

"Kind of a dump"
When we travel BW is always our first choice.. this one was the worst we've ever stayed in. It felt worn out and prideless. Plus we felt duped that it was so far from The Mayo Clinic. In their defense it did seem work was being done on some rooms on another floor but none of that makes up for the fact that it sits between two noisy highways, our bathroom floor was dirty, and the decor in our room would have pleased the Munsters.
Richard Bernik, General Manager at Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's, responded to this review
Dear highwaterjane60, Thank you for being loyal to the Best Western Band. I am so sorry to hear you did not like our hotel. "Legit waste of money"
They told me my stay was 254 with all taxes and fees included then when I check my card after checking in they charged me 310$ not just that but the staff don't do their job and in the public bathroom by the pool there was Sh*t all in there for hours after I reported like I said waste of money disgusting hotel

We stayed here for an overnight because of mayo clinic appointments. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and staff were friendly. Swimming pool and hot tub were also maintained well. Good selection for a grab an go breakfast.

We really appreciate your business and hope next time you are in town you come back and stay with us again!
"comfortable and convenient"
We liked the location. The bed was comfortable. Not real quiet-could hear people in next room talking and their tv. No housekeeping for our multiple night stay. Nice to have a pool, but it was not a pool where you could swim laps.

Dear sallyao, Thank you for taking your time to give us a good review! We really appreciate your feedback and will use it to make improvements. Due to Covid-19 we have had to make adjustments to housekeeping service where you have to request service in the morning. I apologize if this was not explained at check in or if there was a disconnect. We do hope you will come back and stay with us again.
"Visiting daughter"
A nice hotel for families with children. The pool area was packed and the hallways were busy. Our children were that age once so it didn't bother us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again.
"Great stay, friendly staff, but horrible guests"
The hotel was great we enjoyed and had alot of fun. They had great options for the grab and go breakfast. Room was clean and hotel looks much better on inside compared to the outside. Staff was very friendly and pool was fun and always clean in the morning! No complaints about the hotel. Only complaint I had was the other guests at the hotel in the pool area. There was alot of little kids with no parents around watching them. Kids were not following the rules of the waterslide and I'm very surprised Noone got hurt with how busy it was. It was so packed one day that it wasn't even enjoyable, especially with covid. People would leave all their trash and used towels on the floor when they have trash bins and a place to put used towels. Just couldn't believe at how disrespectful some adults and kids can be. No fault of the hotels but maybe they could be more strict about the pool rules and go out to check and make sure people are following the rules so noone gets hurt.
"District Hockey Trip"
The Best Western staff were very accommodating to our hockey team. They had a hockey hospitality room for us to congregate in for meals and after hours. We felt like we were on spring break with the glass dome top over the pool area. The boys enjoyed the water slide and pool basketball.
"7860"
Had a great time. Kids all had fun in the pool. Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms were very clean. Really enjoyed the breakfast- lots of choices and open long enough for even our late sleepers to get something. :)
"Awesome place"
This is a very nice place to stay. Great help and very clean.many updates. . We also had a catered meal that was awesome. Staff went out of their way to take care of our large group. A must stay when in Rochester.
"Staycation "
I remembered this location as Kahler Apache, but since it has become Best Western it's clear the standard has been raised. The entire building has been wonderfully and beautifully renovated. The rooms have all been newly renovated and feel clean and luxurious. The staff is now so helpful (especially Richie- manager) and they all left us never wanting for a thing. The hotel is directly connected to a restaurant and a stone's throw to a shopping center as well as two grocery stores, as well as across the highway from the town mall. I couldn't recommend a better hotel if you're visiting Rochester.
"Great hotel. Nice amenities!"
We stayed at the Best Western - Rochester for a basketball tournament. The hotel has been renovated. The rooms are nice and spacious. Pool area is great. Kids had a blast!! Handing Covid appropriately. Good value. Thank you!
"The Experience was Wonderful"
My wife and I are regulars at Best Western. For the last for years we have spend 2 nights each week at a Best Western Property due to our Jobs. Even though this stay was for medical reasons, My wife and I were amazed at many levels. The Pool area was set up nicely for Families with children. A small water slide and play area. Even though Hot tubs are fading out at many motels due to the cost of upkeep and cleanliness This motel did a great job of doing just that. It was spacious and clean. The Front Desk staff were all well trained and kind and helpful. the Lobby is clean and also very spacious. The Breakfast was very well stocked with many choices to choose from. Regarding the room, we were upgraded to a beautiful suite that had it all. Comfortable Beds, combination shower/Tub. and plenty of room to spread out and relax. I was also able to talk directly to the Manager who introduced himself to us. I learned that they recently joined the Best Western Motel Brand in August of 2020. I have to say I am impressed by how well they have adapted to the Corvid rules and regulations and how much effort it must have taken to turn this Motel into a very Wonderful addition to the Chain. We recommend this Motel to all looking for a quiet and comfortable stay in Rochester.
"Wonderful Experience"
We arrived very late our first night, The guy at the desk was very friendly and helpful. I had my daughter and 5 grandbabies! We are quite the crew and he didn't waiver at all got us everything we needed to get the kiddos tucked in! I am very grateful for all of his willingness to help and kindness to the kids. The second day was just as great the staff was friendly and helpful they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and have a nice time. The staff also let us have a late check out! it was truly a nice time.

"Best Western, Best experience"
Clearly this was a dated hotel, however it was clean with new paint, carpet. Everything worked, quickly checked in and overall experience was great with all staff. With a wonderful pool area, slide and a separate kiddie pool, I cant imagine a better family experience.

"Wonderful Hotel"
Our family was able to stay at this Best Western. As a newly remolded hotel they both cleanliness and affordability. Typically, you need to sacrifice one when staying at a hotel. To top it off, the pool was amazing and a lot of fun for all of the kids. They had a slide for the older ones and a shallow kiddie pool that is fun and safe for the toddlers. Finally, the staff was kind, professional, and very helpful.

Nice hotel. Check in was easy. Staff was nice. Pool area was just right for the kids. Parking was free and easy. They doubled booked my room but made a very good accommodation to fix it. Check out was easy. Would recommend and stay again

"Did not receive requested room"
I had booked a pool-side double queen suite directly through the Best Western website. Upon check-in, I was told the directions to my room, up the stairs and to the right. I was confused as I had booked poolside. The front desk woman was nice and explained that the hotel does not offer housekeeping services on weekends and that I had to switch rooms to a second floor pool view room or wing room. I booked pool-side because my kids would appreciate the distraction of actually being able to see the pool when we were not able to be in it. From the room, you could only see the very top of the waterslide. I was extremely disappointed that my request could not be fulfilled and was not offered the lower rate for the 'pool-view room'. I would have pushed the stay out to the following week had I known that my accommodations could not be met. We ended up leaving a few hours after arrival.

"Front Desk Clerk is a stalker"
If I could give less than a one dot rating I would. We found this property on the Best Western website and reserved a room for the night of Saturday, August 1, 2020. In the reservation section entitled “Special Requests,” we stated, “We will be bringing one small dog.” Upon our arrival, the front desk clerk asked for my driver's license and credit card. What was unusual about that is she wanted me to hand both items over for her to physically examine. In the age of the COVID-19 virus, no other hotelier on my trip asked, nor wanted, to touch my ID cards. The clerk wasn't wearing protective gloves and I don't recall there being any disinfection products nearby for her, or me, to use. I found the situation to be dangerous. But my main concern is what happened after she checked me in. While my family was bringing our luggage to the room, I went outside the hotel to join one of my daughters who was walking our dog. As I did so, I noticed that the employee had left her post and was following us, skulking inside the hallways and stalking us at every entrance to the building. Before I re-entered the hotel, I encountered my family returning to our vehicle and reloading our belongings. My wife said she was approached by the clerk and told we would be charged $250 if we brought our dog inside the hotel room. My wife explained to her that we had notified the hotel in advance that we'd be bringing a pet, but the clerk responded by saying the hotel hasn't allowed animals for two years. So we left. In reviewing our experience, Best Western needs to do the following: -Update its web site. On August 1, 2020 its pet policy said it allowed animals. Also, the address listed is wrong. It reads 1517 16th Avenue SW but should be 1517 16th Street SW. When you use the avenue address in a GPS device, you're routed to a residential neighborhood. -To minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, employees need to be trained not to touch a customer's personal effects such as ID cards. -The female employee who worked the evening shift that night needs to be fired. She stalked me, frightened my daughter, and was rude to my wife. I counted only five or six other vehicles in the hotel parking lot that night. At a time when it can't afford to have such a low occupancy rate, this employee failed to put the “Best” in Best Western.

Dear Ziggy: Thank you for booking your stay with us. I am sorry to hear about your check in experience and that our hotel did not fit the needs of your stay. My apologies regarding the incorrect address and pet policy. We are a newly branded hotel with a website that is still being updated, so at the time of booking these were incorrect but have been updated since. Best Western Rochester is brand compliant and utilizes the "We Care Clean" program which ensures the highest level of cleaning standards and operations. Hand sanitizer is also available at our front desk for guests and employees to utilize as well. We do appreciate your feedback and hope you give us another chance in the future!
"Great Fun!"
I had a week of medical treatment at Mayo clinic July 20-24 so the day before my wife left for Mayo, our daughter in-law said she would drive us and we could spend time with our 3 and 5 year old granddaughters on the trip, we loved the idea but we didn't know how to keep them entertained. We were in a mess if we couldn't find something that would help entertain them. We called Best Western Rochester and their pool was open and they had rooms that adjoined, Wow, we were shocked! The pools are perfect for granddaughters, they played on the slide in the kiddy pool and played with their Barbie dolls in the water. In the big pool they went down with mom and grandma which was all the better laughing and squealing going down the big slide. Our rooms had mostly new furnishings and clean and nice. The staff was great and helpful and checked up on us to see if you needed anything. We did walk through the mall across the highway from us and our granddaughters rode the motorized animals. We ate at the restaurant Wildwood that adjoins the motel, very good. With or without our family we will stay at Best Western Rochester, it was like a vacation
