Learn more about Cebu

Cebu is one of the islands of the Philippine archipelago and also its capital, with a population of 2.5 million. Located between the island of Luzon to the north and Mindanao to the south, Cebu stretches 225 km long and 35 km wide. The country's second city after Manila, Cebu buzzes with an intense life full of contrasts. Like other cities in the country, Cebu has modernised considerably with the construction of new buildings forming one of the country's main business centres. Despite this modernisation, Cebu City has preserved much of its historic architectural heritage, which you can visit from your Best Western hotel in Cebu. As the country's second-largest seaport, Cebu City offers many boat excursions to the neighbouring islands. The island of Cebu has a narrow coastline, its entire length dominated by Mount Cabalasan, which peaks at 1,108 metres. Covered in dense vegetation, this mountain range offers a multitude of hikes revealing sumptuous landscapes.

Activities for every taste

Two hours from Cebu City, the small seaside town of Moalboal offers its fine sandy beach lined with coconut palms. This paradise beach is not the only point of interest. There is also a boat trip up the Kawasan River. The highlight of this excursion is the arrival at the falls, which form natural pools where you can swim. The sportiest can try canyoning, starting in the heart of the tropical vegetation. The island of Cebu attracts divers from all over the world thanks to its seabed, home to an ecosystem of rare diversity. Diving beginners need not worry: many schools will teach you the basics of this activity, which offers constant wonder.

Located between Cebu City and Danao City, the Dansan Eco Adventure park offers a wide variety of activities and facilities for adults and children. Water activities and a forest safari are on the programme, all in an unspoilt natural environment. Danao City boasts a unique architectural feature with Sto Tomas de Villanueva, a church built from coral. For trekking enthusiasts, Mount Manghilow offers many trails before reaching the gigantic cross at the summit. After a restful night in your Best Western hotel in Cebu, board a ferry to the Chocolate Hills. Contrary to what the name suggests, this is not about tasting chocolate, but admiring 1,268 identically shaped hills. Formed around 2 million years ago, the Chocolate Hills are the result of the erosion of layers of coral and shells. Covered in grass, they form a landscape unique in the world.
