"Great Place to Stay"

User 09/05/2022

The room was very comfortable, and suited our needs for the weekend. The continental breakfast has fresh fruit, and good quality yogurt. The front desk help is always very professional and friendly, Sarah has a wonderful disposition and is always willing to help out with your requests.

"Excellent room, view, staff, and hot breakfast"

Kamelvan, Sonora 09/05/2022

This location is a gem. The view of the mountains dusted with snow out the huge floor ceiling windows in the dining hall are spectacular. Staff was warm and friendly and efficient, the hot breakfast was extensive and tasty. Waffles, sausage egg sandwiches, breakfast burritos, at least three kinds of yogurt choices, hot cereal, cold cereals, fresh fruit, pastry goodies, gourmet teas and delicious coffee. The artwork in the lobby, hallways, and in the rooms is beautiful. Pays tribute to the beautiful area surrounding Winnemucca, and to the one in the town is named after. Everything is updated, including the carpeting, beautiful artwork on the walls, dining room area in the lobby, bedding and window coverings. Very quiet rooms, The AC/heater is quiet and efficient, the whole place smells fresh. We'll be back

"Best Breakfast"

KW119, New York City, New York 03/05/2022

The hotel is definitely dated but you don't need much when you're just passing through. Average bed comfort and hard pillows. But it had the most hearty breakfast I've ever seen at a chain hotel. Legitimate sandwiches and burritos in addition to the usual packaged pastries, etc. If you know in advance when you'll be there I'd recommend a reservation. I took one of the last rooms at 5:00p and by 6:00 they were turning people away. Also note if you're coming for the legendary Basque restaurants, they're closed on Sundays.

"Nice Stop!"

M2032TFDestiny, Sacramento, California 02/05/2022

This Best Western is a nice stop along the way to your destination. The beds are so comfortable and the breakfast bar is one of the best I've seen. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. I gave this location four stars because there were crumbs on the carpet and the bathroom floor and tub could have been c!eaner. However, besides these two issues I will definitely return to tthis Best Western.

"Winnemucca Stay"

User 01/05/2022

This hotel is well stocked with the breakfast grab and go style and the cleanliness of the well stocked kitchenette rooms. The layout of the rooms allow one to be in the bedroom which is away from the bathroom - which is separated by the kitchenette. The grab and go style breakfast has so many options to choose from that everyone in your party would be happy with the choices.

"Great stopover for us"

7susan7, Lakeside, California 22/04/2022

We stopped in Winnemucca on the way to Idaho. The staff was very friendly, the rooms clean and the breakfast was good. They also recommended a great restaurant not far from the hotel, that we were able to walk to.

"trip home from Wintering in AZ"

Gerald M, Ferndal, United States 21/04/2022

We enjoy stopping at this location if we trave this way home. Its always been a pleasant stay. I know they try but the dog area is so small. I will bring it up again, why does Best Western charge for small dogs. We have been travelling with out Schiperke, for five years. He doesn't bark, tear up the floor, and is well trained. Why the extra charge or not even accepting dogs at all at some locations. Does Best Western charge extra for small children??

"Very good for our travel stop"

User 19/04/2022

Our stay was brief, but everything was done right. We called ahead of time letting them know we were running in around midnight and we needed a crib. They put us in the perfect room for our family situation and the crib request was executed. The beds were nice and everything was in order and clean. Maybe I'm too easily impressed, but I've had some bad hotel and service experiences lately, so it's nice when everything is as it should be. People upfront were nice and helpful.

"Family Trip"

User 18/04/2022

We have stayed at this Best Western many times... perfect location to break up our trips to Boise...The help are very pleasant, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast bar has many selections...They have coffee, tea, and cookies available 24/7

"Stop Over in Winnemucca"

K8265NYroberth, San Jose, California 12/03/2022

Traveling from Colorado to San Francisco and this is the one stopover on the way. This is a older property but very well maintained. They have a friendly and helpful staff. The room are clean, the beds comfortable, and the water hot (the tubs are slippery so be careful). This was our second time staying at this property and see no reason not to stay here again. There are many other motels in the town, but this a good Best Western.

Thank you for taking the time to let me know what you liked about our property. We love hearing from our guests about their experience here at the Gold Country Inn.

"Our Home Away From Home"

KSSinIdaho, Boise, Idaho 23/02/2022

Just like the Title states, we always feel we're at home here. The staff is very friendly. The lobby is beautiful. The rooms and hallways are very clean. It's quiet. We always feel well taken care of.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate hearing from our guests.

"Good clean overnight"

lshs91, Merrill, Oregon 10/02/2022

Clean comfortable large room - great for our overnight. Offered a good self-service breakfast of pre-made (commercially wrapped) burritos, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and such. Would stay again when passing through winnemucca!!

"Very comfortable one night stay."

366Maggie, Vancouver, Canada 29/01/2022

Hotel is very attractive with nice atmosphere. Well lit parking and easy to get in and out of. Staff friendly and room just what we wanted. We had no problem in bringing to the room some expensive bikes we had with us in our truck - staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. I'm glad we were able to accommodate all of your requests and keep your bikes safe. Please come back and visit us soon.

"great stay"

jeffrynlori, Chester, California 18/01/2022

Very nice, clean and comfortable. Stayed elsewhere the first night and froze. We stayed at a place that smelled like mildew and the heater was loud and inadequate. The shower didn't drain well and the towels looked like rags. So our stay for our second and third nights at Best Western were like heaven! So clean and comfortable and the heater worked great and was nice and quiet. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western!

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know you were happy with your stay here at the Gold Country Inn. I am so sorry that you had issues the first night of travels. That was not a good start to a trip. Here at the Gold Country Inn, the staff takes great pride in making sure that the rooms are clean. I also take great pleasure in knowing that our staff is the best.

"Mold! Mold! Mold!"

mgeisness, Copperopolis, California 30/12/2021

The bathroom had mold on the walls in and out of the shower. It looked like there was mold in the grout in the floor tiles. Soap scum caked in the tub. Mold in the windowsill! DISGUSTING!! Will NEVER go back to this location.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor. I have to say I am really confused. The head housekeeper and I as well as the departmental engineer responsible for maintenance inspected the room that you were in and found no mold anywhere. I understand that you did take pictures and wonder if you would send me a copy of those pictures so the head housekeeper and I can further investigate. perhaps you were in another room. This is a situation that we take seriously and have never had an issue with mold before. We are currently in the process of inspecting all of the rooms to see if there was an issue in another room and so far after inspecting 50% of our rooms not found mold. All of our rooms go through a deep cleaning process starting September going through November. The process the head housekeeper has in place is all bedding, curtains, etc is stripped out of the room and all walls, surfaces, etc are washed down with bleach and detergent.

"Not everything. Works, check your room carefully"

peterd2330, South Ogden, Utah 13/12/2021

Expected much better from a Best Western Plus. Room was a good size but bath and sink did not drain properly. Which is disgusting. Elevator stopped working overnight, so I had to carry our luggage down the stairs. No one offered to help and I am 72 years old.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. I'm so sorry that you had an issue with the bath and sink not draining properly. Upon being notified, the front desk should have sent someone to take care of this issue. This is unacceptable and I will certainly make sure that they understand the procedure so guests do not have an issue with the bath and sinks. Unfortunately due to a power outage our elevator did stop working and we were not able to get it up and running again by the morning. I have let the staff know that if someone asks for help with the luggage, they are to give them help or if they see someone struggling with the luggage they are immediately to ask if the guest needs any help. This is an area that I definitely need to make sure the clerks understand as our elevator is rarely down. Thank you so much for informing me of the issues you encountered. It is always refreshing to have someone let me know what happened during their stay. This makes it easy for me to improve the hospitality here at our hotel.

"Yellow dog ranch"

User 30/11/2021

We always stay at a Best Western as they are consistent in their service, cleanliness, decor and comfort. This Best Western exceeded the standard. It was very comfortable, had a yummy breakfast and accepted dogs. It was a lively experience

"Great Hotel"

LA_Bernie, Los Angeles, CA 24/11/2021

I stayed the night on travel between So. California and Idaho. Nice hotel, easy access on and off the freeway and next to eateries. Staff were welcoming. The room was large, including bathroom and comfortable. They have breakfast in the lobby/ sitting area, perfect for light to medium eaters and to grab and go. I would stay there again when heading to Idaho.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your stay at the Gold Country Inn. We look forward to seeing you the next time you are traveling through Nevada.

"One of the best Best Westerns"

610vicc, Cashmere, Washington 24/11/2021

We stay at a lot of Best Westerns and this is a really good one. We got a room on the first level, close to the lobby so that was nice. Very quiet and nice. Close to parking too. The breakfast area is a little small and a little congested, at least when we were there so that was fairly unimpressive but that's my only criticism.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to respond to the Survey. I have to agree with you about our breakfast area. It is indeed small and if I could find a way to expand it I would do so.

"Comfortable and welcoming Best Western"

Debbie K, Dixon, California 15/11/2021

This hotel is clean and the front desk person was very welcoming. Our room was clean but the coffee machine did not work. What I would say about this property is that I would definitely stay here again but I think that a lot of Best Westerns in general could use an update in decor.

shell722, Anderson, California 10/11/2021

It is a very clean, quiet, comfortable hotel. The staff was very friendly. Ample parking for a trailer. There are several restaurants within walking distance. The toiletries were surprisingly great! We would book this hotel again!

"Newer nice rooms, clean"

albansusan, Welches, Oregon 02/11/2021

Would stay here again. Decent breakfast offering. Clean and newer. Requested a cot to accommodate the size of our family, was told they don't even have cots. Thankfully the room had a couple chairs in it my 13 year was willing to push together to sleep on. Not the most comfortable night.

"Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn Winnemucca Excellent experience 814761216 I have been staying at this hotel/motel"

jct9423, Sparks, Nevada 21/10/2021

Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn Winnemucca Excellent experience 814761216 I have been staying at this hotel/motel since they opened and the experience has always been exceptional. The management has always strived to make one feel welcome and they also strive to keep the facilities in tip top condition with constant upgrades.I credit Liddy, the manager, for this condition.

"Passing through"

dirtydriver3217, Rio Vista, California 10/10/2021

I have stayed here many times over the last 30 years, it has never been a bad experience. Always clean and quiet, plenty of food choices nearby. Can't go wrong here! I travel in a large oversized truck and trailer, parking is close by, just a short walk across the street

"A Good Best Western"

Northcoast_Flyer, Belmont, CA 10/10/2021

This is a cut above many Best Westerns and one of the nicer places to stay in Winnemucca. On this visit, we ended up in a larger than usual king room with a sofa, dining table and kitchen, none of which we needed. We would have preferred a conventional king room for a lower price, but this was what was available. Check-in was quick and efficient. The breakfast offerings looked fine and the eating space is generous. We typically opt for breakfast at The Griddle when we're in town.

"Above Average Best Western"

ralverde, Cedar Mill, Oregon 01/10/2021

The woman at the front desk was pretty rude, but they were saving me from a bad hotel up the street, so I was willing to put up with anything. This also meant it was a bit expensive, but it's hard to judge that without an advanced reservation. It was annoying that the online price is less than what she was willing to give me just walking in, so I guess be warned of that. The room needs a bit of maintenance, but otherwise it was a fairly nice hotel. Nice and clean, good location, and pretty average or above average all around. My normal details: Comparison to others in chain: Above average Internet: Acceptable - 7/7 Breakfast: Was told it is “grab and go”, ended up being a modified grab and go, not bad Room: Big, two sinks, decent layout, but in need of some maintenance. Couldn't turn off the heat lamp without waiting it out because the knob was stripped. Cleanliness: Very clean Bed: Average Bedding: Good Shower: Good pressure and shower head, but poor soap holder placement (hard to not run into) Hard water: Quite hard HVAC: Good Location: Good Noise: Some kind of constant mechanical noise. Otherwise average Staff: Oh, kind of rude, but fine (at checkin). Better at checkout. Cost/Value: A bit expensive for Winnemucca, but not for right now and for last minute.

"An excellent stay at Best Western"

Susan L, Sonoma, California 28/09/2021

This is the best hotel In Winnemucca, which is a transit stop when we drive from Sonoma to spark a city. The Lobby is clean and welcoming. The breakfast is satisfying. The room was clean. My only objection is that I am disabled and the hotel has no rooms with a roll in shower.

"Great place to stay in Winnemucca"

Roy K, Turlock, California 27/09/2021

We enjoy the Best Western Plus properties. You pay a little more but you get a lot more. The staff was congenial, the rooms were new and very large. If you don't mind paying a little more, I believe it is a great place to stay. We enjoy staying here as we cross Nevada ! ! !

"Good option in Winnemucca"

JudeOregon, Eugene, Oregon 18/09/2021

We stayed only one night, but did have a suite with kitchen, table, sofa, chair which I would recommend to anyone who is staying longer. It was more than we needed, and paid $230 just to sleep overnight, which for that overnight was higher than I usually opt for... but it was roomy and nice. I noticed that it was especially clean in our room, which we always highly appreciate CLEAN! The front desk staff was also very informed, helpful and friendly, so "their people" are a high point of this hotel. Hope Best Western knows that!

"Ignored NV indoor mask mandate, etc"

James H, Longmont, Colorado 07/09/2021

What I didn't care for is the fact that despite Best Westerns website and signs in the lobby saying personal protective equipment is being used and despite an indoor mask mandate in NV at that time NONE of the staff where wearing any, let alone any of the guests except my wife and I. Makes me realize that despite any hotels claim of rooms sitting empty for at least 24 hours is most like bogus as well.

"A comfortable Hotel Stay"

david l, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 17/08/2021

This is one of the better Best Westerns I have experienced. The hotel had a luxurious feel and atmosphere. Customer service was excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is well located within walking distance of downtown, restaurants, and casinos. Price was a bit high; probably because of a convention in town.

"Best in Winnamucca NV"

Wes M, Fair Oaks, California 15/08/2021

Great location, super friendly staff, comfortable/clean rooms and good variety of self-serve breakfast. Walking distance to The PIG BBQ restaurant...highly recommend taking in dinner there. Allowed us to park our motorcycles near entrance

"Good Hotel"

Pat286, Windsor, California 05/08/2021

We had an over night stay at this hotel. My overall opinion is that it's over priced. We had just spent a night at Best Western Plus in Sparks NV and it was a much nicer newer hotel. Pros - Room was clean and spacious Cons - I had called ahead about parking for a car trailer and was told that they did have parking. The short answer is No, they do not. They have a small parking on the side of hotel but the spaces are small to only fit cars/SUVs. Though we were told we could take up 2 or 3 spaces, the driveway and lanes were too narrow for us to use. I also asked for a room away from vending machines and I got a room across hall and down one room from machines. It was noisy.

"An awesome stay!"

User 02/08/2021

We were greeted by a nice young lady at the front desk. She gave us recommendations to 2 dinner spots. We choose Sid's Restaurant. We had an awesome meal, excellent wait staff & prompt food service! At breakfast, Ann was so friendly & helpful - a real gem! As was the front desk lady at checkout!

"Clean quiet room"

adamneale711, Inverness, California 20/07/2021

We wanted a clean, quiet place to stop over on our way to Colorado. It met all our needs, and was a perfect stop.we woke up early and the breakfast grab and go was very convenient and good. We will stay on our way back through

cravenswr, Lovelock, Nevada 15/07/2021

Excellent hotel. Close to restaurants, shopping, and casinos. Helpful friendly staff. Clean public areas and rooms.Good breakfast under the covid rules.. I stayed at this Best Western due it's location in the Winnemucca NV area.

"Friendly and helpful staff"

ARSAMAL, Denver, Colorado 10/07/2021

The Staff at this hotel made me feel at home. They made sure that I was comfortable. The food choice at the breakfast was better than other places. The room was kept fresh. I requested room service and it was done right

"Pleasant stay..."

Barbara S, Northern Coastal CA, United States 02/07/2021

Well-kept property. Good accommodations with very comfortable beds. Room well soundproofed. Decent breakfast offerings, especially considering COVID situation. Really appreciated that my well-behaved dog was welcome. Front desk staff was great. Would definitely stay here again.

krismb2015, Wickenburg, Arizona 30/06/2021

The location is between two roads so not quiet. Tub didn't drain, AC on low fan noisy fridge noisy. No real glasses provided upon request. Breakfast is microwave junk food. Staff is nice it's the limitations of this hotel how it's maintained and run. Oh it's next door to Winnemucca Inn which is quieter and $40 less with better food

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Dear Mr. Betts, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay at the Gold Country Inn. I'm sorry you were disappointed with your stay with us. We as well as many of the hotels including the Winnemucca Inn are located between the Winnemucca Blvd and 4th Street. While Winnemucca Blvd stays pretty busy all night long, we have found that the 4th Street usually quiets down after 9 PM. I have suggested to guests in the past who prefer a quieter room that perhaps they should request a room facing 4th Street. I am so sorry that our front desk was not made aware that you had an issue with the Tub and AC prior to check out. I expect all of my front desk to be proactive and either get the engineering department to take care of the issue or to move the guest to another room. Due to Covid restrictions, we can not put glasses or offer glasses to the guests as they are a touch point that can carry the virus. We are hoping this restriction will be lifted soon as we at the Gold Country would like to put the glasses back into the rooms. Most if not all of our guests have let us know they miss them. I would love to have a restaurant like next door and be able to offer meals. I would also love to be able to offer scrambled eggs and sausages, etc for my guests. However, the best we can do is offer individually wrapped egg sandwiches, breakfast burritos, hot and cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls etc. to all of our guests. I have to agree that the restaurant does have better food, and better variety. I always love going over to their restaurant and ordering from their menu and enjoying a hot meal from them.

"Pleasant Stay"

regroup, Campbell, California 29/06/2021

The hotel was clean and we'll maintained. Breakfast had a great selection of cereal, yogurt and microwave items. Coffee, of course, was included. We did miss the member gift bag and restaurant coupons they used to give out to us.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. I am happy we were able to provide a breakfast, even if it is individually wrapped due to covid restrictions. Please come and visit us again.

"Top hotel for area"

Phil D, Sacramento, California, USA 19/06/2021

Very good spacious room, clean and new and fresh. The staff was very helpful and polite, showed they cared... This is in mid-Nevada not a destination area so what a pleasant surprise to find this hotel. Breakfast was very good as were the beds and got a good night's sleep. If you want service with a smile from people who care stay here.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay at the Gold Country Inn. My staff always like hearing from guests that they enjoyed their stay.

"Cross Country Trip"

K8265NYroberth, San Jose, California 14/06/2021

My wife and I were on a cross country trip from South Carolina to California. Winniemucca was our last stopover. The Gold Country Inn is well maintained and staffed. We were warmly welcomed and has he room we requested. The motel is a bit of a drive off of the interstate but still convenient. Though the property is older, it is well maintained. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet despite facing a street. The bed was comfortable. Our only complaint is the cost . . . the most we have paid for a Best Western room in our cross country travels. But then again, all the rooms in Winniemucca are expressive.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you so much for your input about your stay at the Gold Country Inn. We appreciate hearing from all of our guests about their stay. I have passed on your comments to our staff to let them know you appreciated and enjoyed your stay.

"Not a good value for the quality"

User 29/05/2021

This was our second stay at this hotel. The rate has increased 30% since February. The rooms are average but clean. Service is average but they may be understaffed due to coming out of Covid. The sign on the front door said they still have a mask wearing policy but we only saw one employee wearing one.

"Beautiful Facility"

robbykminerguy, Carson City, Nevada 27/05/2021

Excellent accommodations nicely appointed facility. Would have liked to stay like to stay longer on travel that did not involve business. I didn't have time to enjoy any of the hotel's other fine amenities.

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. It is always nice to know that the job we do is appreciated. I am grateful you took the time to let us know of your satisfaction.

"Very nice"

computo, Boise, Idaho 27/04/2021

This was a very pleasant end to a long day's drive. Friendly staff, clean, quiet well-appointed room. Excellent "grab-and-go" breakfast. Keurig in-room coffee-maker. I liked the small touches like bath salts in addition to normal toiletries.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay at the Gold Country Inn. We always appreciate hearing from our guests about their experience here at the Gold Country Inn in Winnemucca. Please come back and see us again.

"Don't wear masks and front desk is rude"

TheOceanTraveler, Boise, Idaho 16/04/2021

Ashley at the front desk was rude and wasn't wearing a mask when I checked in. She was aggressive and wouldn't let me get a word in or ask questions. She acted like she hated I was checking in and wanted me gone. I'm mostly upset she wasn't wearing a mask. We are in a pandemic and you work at a hotel. You should be wearing a mask at all times. Don't stay here because they obviously don't care about the safety of their guests.

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review the Gold Country Inn in Winnemucca. I am so sorry that you did not have a positive experience when interacting with Ashley. Rest assured I will look into the situation. Here at the Gold Country it is a requirement that all my personnel including the room attendants wear masks. While we do have in place plexiglass all around the front desk to protect our guests, I still insist that they wear masks when dealing with the public due to Covid 19. i am surprised that Ashley did not adhere to our policy and assure you that I will stress to all of my front desk personnel that plexiglass or not, they are all to wear masks at all times during their shifts. I'm sorry that Ashley was not adhering to our policy. Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

"Best Hotel in Winnemucca"

rpgamble7, Las Vegas, Nevada 09/04/2021

Very comfortable Hotel in Downtown Winnemucca. Rooms are very nice and remodeled. Rooms are very clean. Bathrooms are nice size with a great shower. Beds are very comfortable. Rooms have lots of room. Rooms are very quiet. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely stay here again when in town.

"Great choice and great price!"

User 31/03/2021

Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean facility with larger rooms and a great take away hot breakfast options! Only change I would make is no community water cooler because hands and mouth pieces are not a good mixture ever!

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your kind words and recommendations. Because we have to have hot and cold water available to our guests, the water cooler with hand santizers and santizing wipes was our best option. If you could recommend a better option, I certainly would be more than happy to take a look at it.

travelingnanal, Placerville, California 22/03/2021

We have stayed at this hotel many times and it is always very nice. The front desk staff are always pleasant. The rooms are always clean and very comfortable. We have traveled with our pets before without any issues. the recommendations for restaurants were all very good. We will definitely stay here again.

"Comfortable Stay"

Bwo_and_Rhys, Las Vegas, Nevada 04/03/2021

Friendly staff, clean hotel. Nothing spectacular, just reliable and professional. Breakfast options were ok, sort of like a 7-11, but at least there were hot options, and more than a prepackaged danish and coffee, which I appreciated.

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. We value all feedback as it helps us make sure that our guests are happy with us. I would love to go back to a full breakfast.

MVPRK, Mill Valley, California 22/02/2021

While the room is adequate, nothing makes up for the fact that the receptionist keeps her mask down around her neck while none of the guest in the check-in area/reception area wear masks. (I have photos.) I have contacted the hotel after several recent visits during the past year and have tried to give them additional chances, but after this last visit there is no way that I will further risk my health by staying at a hotel that refuses to comply with state law or to even comply with the notices on its website and the signs posted on the front door. This is dangerous and disrespectful. If there is no compliance at the front door, I have no faith that there is compliance with the stated cleaning procedures. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS ABOUT THE THREATS OF COVID.

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for completing the survey regarding your recent stay at our property. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Our hotel values your feedback and aims to provide our guests with a safe and comfortable stay. While COVID-19 has caused us to make amendments to our hotel's services and offerings for your safety and wellbeing, our hotel continues to look for ways to improve our guests' stay. We appreciate you providing insight on what we can do to better meet your needs going forward. Please know that the health and safety of our guests remain paramount, and as such, we were among the first in the industry to roll out standards and best practices to enhance our cleaning protocols at the start of COVID-19. Our hotel prides itself on embracing BWH Hotel Group's We Care Clean™ initiative, and our trained staff are committed to ensuring the highest cleanliness standards recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. I am sorry that you had an issue with the receptionist not wearing her mask. This is unacceptable even if we have a barrier between her and the guests checking in with the plexiglass and I will definitely address the issue with her. I have seen the picture and will show it to her and explain to her that if she wishes to work with us, she must follow the governor's mandate and best western policy. I thank you for bringing this to our attention. We ask that all guests follow the governor's mandate to wear masks unless they are seated and eating in the lobby. This regulation is the same as in all restaurants and places where food is available. I did recognize the guest that you took a picture of and he is a regular and has asthma which is why he does not wear a mask. We have addressed the issue with him, and as he respectfully pointed out, those that have medical concerns involving breathing issues are not required to wear masks. He is not the only one that uses that excuse and unfortunately we can not ask for proof or make them wear masks unless our governor amends the wording to say all must wear masks no exceptions. If I can provide any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at 775-623-6999.

"Skip this hotel due to bed and room temperature"

USN_Seabee_Wife, Chehalis, Washington 12/02/2021

Here for one night as we were traveling through the area. The room is spacious and the bathroom has a split design where one sink is outside of another area that has a toilet, sink and shower. Water pressure was good. The definite down side of the room for us was that the bed was very uncomfortable. I kept rolling into my husband toward the center of the bed and it squeaked every time one of us moved. The other downside is that they have the temperature set at 72 degrees. We like a room on the cooler side when we sleep and it was impossible to be able to either turn the air conditioner on or turn the heat off so that we could lower the temperature in the room. We both woke up with headaches and stuffy heads due to this. My husband said that management must have locked the actual unit so that traveler's are not able to adjust the temperature to their liking. Shame on you Best Western. Next time we come through the area we will choose a different hotel to stay at even though we are loyal Best Western customers.

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
I am so sorry that you were uncomfortable and could not sleep. We do not lock the temperature regulators down, or preset them. The only issue we have with our system, is our heating and cooling system is based on a water system, and when it is winter, we shut the cold water off, and turn the hot water on in order to heat the room. So guests that like a cooler room are not able to turn the air conditioner on. I have no way of changing this system. The rooms can be lowered below the 72 degrees, so I'm not sure why you were not able to set it lower, and our windows due open up to allow cool air to circulate throughout the room. I have passed on all of your comments to the engineering department and asked the head of engineering to check the rooms and see why guests are not able to lower the temperature below 72 degrees. I've asked him to check all of the rooms and see how we can make sure that all of our guests are comfortable not just the ones that like the warmth. Once again, I am sorry that you did not have a cool room. I have also asked that the head housekeeper take a look at all of our beds. If the beds need to be replaced, we will certainly do so.

"Really Nice Hotel - Wish I Could've Stayed Longer"

Joni K, Jerome, Idaho 05/02/2021

+ pet friendly with only minimal charge + s p a c i o u s room, 2 sink areas, plenty of trash cans + nice lobby + great staff + plenty of electrical outlets although no USB ports + very nice breakfast with choice of protein, cold and hot items + lotion was stocked, unlike the previous night in San Fran and the night before that in Utah + free and easy parking + great location in town - no makeup remover towelettes - big negative was that all four pillows were (too) high and firm, there was no gradient in pillow selection - Room was very warm when I checked in; heater didn't seem to turn off and I had to open the window and door for airflow to cool it off. - pool was closed, so was fitness center unless you wanted to go off-property - As a Best Western, I was little surprised at the $200 price tag for two people in a town such as Winnemucca

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your insightful comments about our property. Our property has never provided makeup remover towelettes, and I am sorry we were not able to provide you with them. As of March, we are looking into new pillows to offer a different selection and hope that our guests will be happy with our new pillows.

"Bad Covid Safety"

jjc514, Montreal, Canada 18/01/2021

Staff wasn't wearing masks.Don't stay here if you care about Covid safety. I chose to stay here after reading reviews praising their safety precautions, but that's not what we experienced. Check in at night: front desk agent was not wearing a mask when we walked in, and put on some chin-mounted mouth plastic shield that didn't cover anything. The agent was diligent about hand sanitizer though. Check out: a different desk agent had a surgical mask on, but had it pulled down around their chin while they were talking on the phone. I you don't care about Covid, the room was clean and the bed was firm and comfy.

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your stay. I can certainly understand your concern about the lack of proper face mask coverings. I have made an exception for the clerk that wears a clear mask. It protects all of my guests, but does not protect her. She has a medical condition that makes it difficult for her to use a face covering and this was a compromise solution. I have asked that at all times she stays behind our plexiglass barrier to further protect her and the guests. I have also spoken to the clerk that was on the phone without her mask. I explained to her that while I can understand that the guest on the other end of the phone cannot hear her responses, it was important for her safety and others that the mask is worn even with her head down and the plexiglass in front of her.

"Desk Clerk Deserves a Medal!"

Kendra H, Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States 10/01/2021

Winnemucca is our stopover from CA to CO where we have to go to help family. All our concerns about COVID were minimized here. Very clean and lots of precautions. We were taking stuff to our car on the morning of Jan. 7 and encountered a woman screaming at the desk clerk because she had asked her to wear a mask. Thankfully the desk clerk did not back down and, after much nasty screaming, the woman went back to her room for a mask. The desk clerk handled it very professionally. No screaming on her part.

This is a nice property. Due to Covid we did not access the breakfast, but looked OK. This property is in the vicinity of a couple casinos and several restaurants. Winnemuca is a fairly small town - seemed pretty safe to us, so we walked pretty much everywhere

"Stay Here"

Wow,what a fantastic hotel, everything was perfect. The breakfast bar should be a example to all others, the perfect response to the covid a great selection with safety in mind. The check in was quick and efficient. All the staff were pleasant and professional. Very good restaurant across the parking lot.Do yourself a favor and spend a couple more dollars to stay here

"Great for 1 night with dog"

cdleps, Ca 22/10/2020

Great place for 1 night and dog friendly Non-smoking hotel. Bed was very firm and pillows were so huge sleep was minimal. We would stay again with our dog, but not if we were without pet. Check-in was fine, not the most friendly person though. (Ashely checked us in. She appeared mire friendly with all the construction workers that were staying at the motel.)

"Nicest people!"

User 05/10/2020

I arrived at this hotel with two pets. I had been driving for 6 hours. The folks at the front desk wore masks and were very friendly and accommodating. I asked for a room that was not near noise, so they moved my room to another area. The room was very clean and the breakfast was typical with the standard cereal, coffee, etc. The fruit was fresh and so was the coffee. It was just a good overall experience. The grounds were clean and they had a small area for pets which was clean and supplied doggie poop bags. There was a trashcan nearby, it was well kept. Again, the clerks that were there were very friendly and accommodating. They let me park in front to unload my items. I could expect nothing more for a hotel. Further, the bed was extremely comfortable. The only complaint I had was that they charge an extra $50 on my credit card that THEY DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT WHEN YOU CHECK IN...which they told me they would credit. I have yet to receive my credit back...but I must assume it may take a few weeks (credit card). If I do not receive, I will change my rating ... :) Also, Winnemucca is a charming little town!

Lydie Looker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your stay. I have alerted the front desk that although it is on the receipt we still need to make sure that all of our guests know about the $50.00 incidental charge that is added to the room rate and tax. This incidental charge is for food delivery from the Winnemucca Inn that can be charged to the room and any additional charges that can come up. I'm sorry that they did not make you aware. If you have not yet received your $50.00 back, please contact me at the hotel and I can help expedite that. I'm happy hat the front desk was able to help you feel comfortable with that one exception.

"Very nice"

PamelaS3700, Las Vegas, Nevada 02/10/2020

Stayed here one night on our way to Spokane, Washington. Room was clean. Easy accessible outlets to plug phone chargers in on night stand. Pretty quiet even though room faced a street. Lots of hand sanitizer placed around hotel. Staff wore masks properly. Decent toiletries. Beds were pretty comfortable. I'd stay here again if needed.

"Stayed overnight on way to National Parks"

Pikake650, San Francisco, California 27/09/2020

We stayed here overnight on a trip to the National Parks (9/11/2020). Late night/early morning check in. They were fully booked but we had reservations while others were turned away due to hotel being fully booked. Lots of hotel guests had pets so this must be a pet friendly hotel? They are not keeping rooms un-occupied between guest stays as they are fully booked. We tried to stay at the Candlewood but they were fully booked so this was our second choice. Room was decently clean and quite and the end of the hallway near the stairs so we had to walk up the stairway. We did our own disinfection of the room just in case. Room was a little dated/worn but good enough for 1 night. They had grab/go breakfast: breakfast sandwich, cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee/tea. No open/exposed hot food but microwave to warm up sandwich.

"Passing through"

984amyl, Cincinnati, Ohio 30/08/2020

This looked like the best pet-friendly hotel in Winnemucca but it was a disappointment. We stayed here with our dog for one night while on a longer road trip. We were given a corner room overlooking the parking lot. We heard everyone who entered or exited through the hallway door near our room. The room was dated and we weren't confident of its cleanliness during the pandemic. The take-out breakfast was very basic. I'd try to avoid this hotel/stop if I did this road trip on I-80 again.

"Kind, helpful staff and clean, comfortable facilities"

User 25/08/2020

We had a lovely experience here. The staff were very helpful and welcoming to kids, and the facilities were great. The kids especially enjoyed the pool! We highly recommend this hotel, especially for a family trip.

"Best of hotels visited in NV"

lJorge2015, Wilmington, North Carolina 22/08/2020

Similar to the Best Western in Elko, NV, this chain hotel was an excellent overnight stay. Close, walking, distance to downtown Winnemucca and super clean. Staff enforced mask policy, social distancing, and breakfast/lobby area was kept clean and guests were treated well by both desk attendants (morning and evening). We stayed at a Whyndam in Elco, earlier this month, and Best Western was far superior in staff helpfullness, decor and hotel ammenties. Definitely will recommend the Best Western group over other hotels in same price range ($$) in either city.

"Passing through "

KEinSF, San Francisco, California 18/08/2020

Stayed here for 1 night. Location is good as a stopover between Reno and SLC. Hotel was ok - needs an update but was comfortable. 2 queen room with a kitchen was comfortable - the kitchen had full size appliances including a freezer which was great for bottled water to keep our cooler going the next day. Microwave looked brand new. Hotel looked clean but there were no obvious additional efforts to sanitize. Staff were behind a screen and there was only a to go breakfast which was more than I expected. All guests wore masks while in the building which was good to see. Would have been nice to see some sanitizing wipes in areas other than the lobby and to know that the room had been sanitized in advance. (Used my own Clorox wipes and cleaned my room before I touched anything in there. ) not saying there was anything wrong but I think BW need to be more obvious about their cleaning policies.

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for reviewing us on Trip Advisor. Rest assured that here at the Gold Country Inn have implemented strict guidelines to clean the guest rooms. We use Peroxide Cleaners and Disinfectants to clean all the rooms. After all the rooms are cleaned with the Peroxide Cleaner and Disinfectant all touch areas (remote, air conditioner touch panel, faucet handles, toilet handles, light switches, etc.) are followed up with a Peroxide based product to make sure that the room is disinfected. We also have a Peroxide based spray that is sprayed just prior to closing up the room to make sure that the area is totally disinfected. I am sorry that the front desk staff did not let you know. We also provide hand sanitizer at the two stations in the breakfast area as well as several stations at the front desk and also by the elevator. If we are missing anything, please let me know and we will be more than happy to take a look at additional measures.

"Road trip to the Midwest.... "

AnewMunsterfan, Sacramento, California 12/08/2020

Accommodations adapted to meet the guests needs per COVID-19 standards. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Comfy beds and amenities in the spacious room more than met our needs. Staff was good about masks and so were the guests. Grab and Go breakfast offered. Plenty of choices. Hotel is pet friendly cat. This is the first time we traveled with our cat....he is making the trip with us as we move cross country. Would stay there again!

"Air conditioning broken"

User 06/08/2020

We stayed here twice passing through from Oregon to Utah, on the night of July 27, checking out the 28th, and again the 31st of July checking out August 1. The first night was great, based on that we would return. The night of the 31st we noticed the room was hot and warm air was blowing in the room even though the thermostat was set at sixty degrees. There was a flood of water at the back of the hotel where the HVAC unit was, and we surmised that the system was down. It was one hundred degrees when we checked in. It is our habit to request an upper floor room (this hotel is two story) but 1) We should have been told the A/C was down when we checked in 2) We should have gotten a discount, this is Nevada in high summer 3) We should have been offered a fan and/or ground floor room. We had a fan with us, luckily, but the room was miserably hot anyway,. We had a long drive, it would have been nice to have been rested. Also, the tables in the breakfast area were not wiped or cleaned in any way between guests. Gross any time, but where's the Covid precautions, this is sanitation 101

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
I am sorry that you experience with us at the Gold Country Inn was not a happy one. I am especially not happy to hear that tables were not wiped down between guests as that is a requirement I have as well as making sure all other areas of the lobby, elevator, bathroom and reception area. To say that I am more than disappointed with my staff is an understatement. Thank you for providing the dates you stayed here when you had this issue. It made it easy for me to find out who was working that day and to reinforce our practice to make sure that all of our guests are kept safe during these times. If you would be willing to provide me with additional information that would help me locate your stay, I would be more than happy to look into it and see why you were not provided a discount. One again thank you for letting me know about your experience here at the Gold Country Inn. It is only through hearing from our guests that I am able to take action and improve.

"Smelly room and no air conditioning"

Adventurer90841, San Francisco, California 05/08/2020

Let me begin by saying that every staff member that we encountered were very nice and helpful. That being said, we had a terrible experience. After more than 13 hours on the road we were looking forward to a relaxing evening and a good nights sleep, we got neither. As we walked into our room (141) we were hit hard by how hot the room was and the heavy stench of cigarette smoke. We fiddled with the a/c but we could not get it to produce cold air. I called the front desk only to learn that the a/c was down for the entire hotel but were assured that it would be back shortly so we believed it was being taken care of. The smell of the room was bad enough but without circulation of cool air, the gross smell was like a heavy blanket over our faces. It was difficult to fall asleep but we finally passed out. When we awoke, we realized that the air conditioning never came on. Even though we managed to get some sleep neither of us felt rested for the long day of driving ahead of us. They gave us a discount, which was nice, but when I complained about the smell of the room the only response I got was, "All of our rooms are non smoking." Well, duh. If you have to stay here make sure you are never put in room 141, which is a pet friendly room. I repeat, NEVER STAY IN ROOM 141!!!!!

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for completing the survey regarding your recent stay at our property. I'm sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory stay with the Best Western Gold Country Inn and hope you will accept my sincerest apologies. I have always emphasized to the employees here at the Gold Country that it is important to provide excellent customer service and to provide a clean and smoke free environment to all of our guests. I am sorry that you were not provided that nor were you moved to another room to make you more comfortable. Unfortunately we did not anticipate our Air Conditioning going out during one of the hottest weeks we've had this year. I am so sorry that you were not able to sleep. While our windows do open and we have never had an issue with break ins I can understand the hesitance you might have about opening your window in a strange location. After emphasizing to all of he employees here at the Gold Country the importance of making sure that all of our guests are listened to with courtesy and respect, I am surprised that the clerk in question was uncaring. You can rest assured that I will be speaking to the front desk staff about the importance of treating all of our guests with kindness and dignity. I am sorry that you were subjected to a clerk that was not caring.

"Clean! COVID precautions in place!"

Zcanana, Louisville, Colorado 17/07/2020

Would definitely stop here again. Plastic shield covered the entire counter, there was a cup with pens noting they had been sanitizes with a bin next to it for placement of used pens. The Grab and Go breakfast offered choices. The room was clean and fresh. Staff was friendly! The only negative- the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling by the wires. (Reported to staff)

Lydie Loooker, General Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for telling us about your experiences at the Gold Country Inn. I am sorry that there was an issue with the smoke detector and can assure you I have spoken to the Engineering Department to let them know that when they are inspecting the rooms that it is just as important to fix items that need to be fixed.

"Great Hotel"

MrPell, Oxnard, California 15/07/2020

The room was very clean. The location was very good. The staff was very pleasant. There were many items served for breakfast. We loved the choices of coffe and tea. A little bit overpriced though (considering there was not a couch bed to accomodate one of our three sons).

"Stay here!"

Howard W, Boise, United States 01/07/2020

We are Platinum Best Western members. We stay at BW's whenever we can. This site is a great place to stop and stay. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The staff is accommodating and respectful. he location is convenient for food, easy access to the highway, and quiet at night. During Covid, the breakfast is take and go but The Griddle is just down the street with excellent food. So, whatever your needs are, it will work. We travel through here regularly when visiting family in CA. This is our new place to stay to break up the trip from Boise.

"Very Clean"

sharonhM8955JW, Fairfield, California 30/06/2020

I wiped down the door and everything inside with disinfectant wipes and found nothing on the wipes. This hotel is exceedingly clean. We stayed here twice in one week and found it just as clean the second time. We had a kitchen in our room which we did use. The appliances were newer and also very clean. The hotel staff is very helpful. The pool is between this and another hotel and not the best, but we would certainly stay here again.

"Delightful stay!"

User 24/06/2020

I'm from the Sacramento area and my sister is from Boise, Idaho. We determined that Winnemucca, Nevada was in the middle and each drove there to spend time together during this pandemic. Our stay was delightful!! I was impressed by their socially distancing practices and the quality of the beds! For a small town in the middle of nowhere, it was wonderful! The breakfast options were ample and satisfying, even though they were limited due to the circumstances. We will definately stay here again!

"Best experience"

Maureen N, Portland, United States 23/06/2020

Long trip and stayed a number of places. This hotel staff clearly cared about preventing Covid-19. Despite increasing cases nationwide this is the only hotel where I and my family were safe due to staff Thoughtfulness. I would stay here again anytime I was near here.

"Hospitality PLUS!"

User 22/06/2020

Concerned about COVID19, but not wishing to again drive 15 or 16 hours straight through from Portland OR to Las Vegas NV, we decided, this time, to book two nights at our halfway point: Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn (Winnemucca NV), and only stay the second night. This way, we reasoned, the room would be left untouched for the 24 hours prior to our actual visit. We also stipulated a first floor room (to avoid an elevator) and an entrance that would allow us to access the room without going through the lobby. The staff was totally unfazed by these unusual requests. They could not have been more accommodating and congenial. The room was super clean and comfortable. We spent a relaxing evening, woke up totally refreshed, and discovered upon examination of our invoice that we had only been charged for the one night (even though the room was left empty the previous night). These are wonderful people, and we will choose to stay in this hotel for all our future drives to Portland.

"Nice hotel, great people"

jeffwQ2989WP, Holmen, Wisconsin 20/06/2020

We stayed here as a stopover so we didn't spend a lot of time, but we were very impressed with the hotel and staff. Extremely friendly at check-in. It's tough to grade a hotel with the COVID guidelines but the hotel was clean and the lobby was set up well for the staff/customer safety. Also, there was a small protest going on in town and the police there were extremely pleasant and the townspeople were very pleasant and friendly. We were very impressed with Winnemucca and would definitely use this as a stop again.

"Nice hotel, extremely clean!"

WT1023, Vacaville, California 12/06/2020

We really liked the hotel, it was very comfortable and clean. We had no issues at all. We had two pets with us and we were all treated very well. Breakfast was very good. We will definitely recommend it!

This hotel is very clean and up-to-safe. Staff super responsive and polite. I'd highly recommend this hotel and I'd stay here again. Had breakfast options the whole family could enjoy and felt safe going outside.

"Great experience in Silver state"

Z4859MBalbertob, Salem, United States 02/05/2020

I must confess it was my first time Winnemucca but the city is very charming and the hotel staff were very professional, in fact all of them had mask and rubber gloves not just for their safety but ours too. The whole general cleanliness of the hotel was very good and that was reflective in the room. We did enjoy our experience.

"Exceptional experience"

kwpaulson66, Oregon Coast, Oregon 27/04/2020

During the Corona virus pandemic, I was looking for a quality hotel that I knew could and would assure me of a totally safe and clean room that hadn't been used the previous night, if not longer. I feel very safe in saying I got the safest room possible, not just under these circumstances, but under any. All in all, a great experience. I would stay there again any time.

"Going home"

Ray and Karol T, Welches 25/04/2020

During these days of quarantine, some travel is necessary. We had to travel home. It was great to find a very clean motel that was open for non essential travelers. They took great care in providing a wonderful breakfast all wrapped up for us. There was no food left uncovered. Check in and check out was a breeze with very little contact.

"Best Western Winnemucca"

Daydream42163, Oakland, California 23/02/2020

If you've gotta stay in Winnemucca, this hotel is a nice spot. Not all that much to recommend Winnemucca, except it's halfway to SLC :) Nice breakfast including scrambled eggs, ham, fruit, cook-it-yourself waffle. Warm syrup would've been the cat's meow !!

"Nice place in a small town"

mrryanscaddell, Fort Worth, Texas 22/02/2020

Three of us were traveling, all seniors and we all had a great night sleep and a delicious breakfast! Traveling through Nevada is tedious and long. This stop far exceeded our stop in Vegas. Wish more hotels were this high quality.

Upon entering staff was very greeting and lobby was clean and inviting. It smelled clean and the room was kept very nicely and felt like home. They offered cupcakes at the front for arriving guests. And the fireplace to relax in the lobby

"Boise Idaho"

travelingnanal, Placerville, California 20/01/2020

This hotel was recommended to us by my sister. She also stayed here on her way to visit us. But this time we were going to visit her. She said it was a nice hotel and she was right. We couldn't have been more pleased. They met all of our requests. If you ever have the opportunity to stay here you won't be disappointed.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
I am so happy that your sister recommended us to you and you followed her suggestions. We always like to not only hear how you liked our hotel but also your family members. I am happy that the staff was able to meet all your needs and look forward to seeing you again soon.

"I love to stay here"

User 05/12/2019

I always stay here when I travel to visit my daughter and family. This is a lovely hotel and everyone is always courteous and friendly. The breakfast has a fair amount of selections and everything is very clean.

"Great Hotel When Traveling With a Dog!"

dylansmommy, Los Angeles, California 01/12/2019

This hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere but it is a beautiful hotel! The rooms were large, the bath products were top of the line (and included bath salts!) and the staff was amazing. The best part was that I was traveling with my dog and other hotels have made us fell unwelcome. The Country Gold Inn welcomed my dog with dog biscuits and lots of affection. The area around the hotel has lots of easily navigable space for good walks and doggy bags are available in several places around the exterior of the property. There is a bar/restaurant next door where I called in my order and they brought it out to me. (Also lots of fast food places in town.) This hotel, by far, earned the title of Dog Friendly,

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your kind comments regarding our staff and service. We consider dedicated and competent staff members our most valuable assets. The staff members here all love our pets and we always want to make sure that they are happy and comfortable while staying at the Gold Country and I'm happy that we were happy to accomplish that with your pet.

"Roomy, comfortable"

User 01/12/2019

The king bed room is huge with a couch, chair, and desk, mini-fridge, microwave and coffee-maker. The decor is modern and clean. The room heater fan is very quiet, and we got a great night's sleep. The lobby is spacious with couches and a big fireplace.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your wonderful description of our guest rooms. I could not of described than any better than you did. I am happy that we were able to meet your needs and hope you will visit us again the next time you are traveling this way.

"Overpriced for Standard Best Western Plus."

denise g, San Francisco, California 29/11/2019

Clean room, friendly staff. WiFi didn't work well. Breakfast is typical Best Western crappy food. The room rate was the highest of the other similar rated hotels and overpriced given there was extremely low occupancy at the time (8 guests the night we stayed).

"Pleasantly surprised"

Travel806028, St. George, Utah 14/10/2019

We had a fast check-in and enjoyed yummy cupcakes at the front desk at this older but well-maintained motel. We had a large, poorly lit room with comfortable furniture, large mini-fridge with freezer, microwave, and good AC. There were two well-lit bathroom sinks, one outside of the toilet/shower room. I appreciated the makeup mirror. The bed was comfortable but sagged in the middle. We had a good breakfast with hot items served in a cramped eating area. The town is pretty rundown and dead. We had a so-so dinner at The Pig BBQ nearby.

"great hotel"

User 30/09/2019

Very nice hotel great location walking distance to casinos and restuarants. A great breakfast buffet in the morning with lots of options. The rooms were spacious and very clean.Friendly staff members.

"Not everything is equal"

msbyrd2016, Seaside, California 30/09/2019

Staying at this hotel has mostly been a pleasure, the staff was nice, the room was comfortable, for the price the breakfast could have been more of, the coupons we were given was of little help. Traveling from CA to CO and back we stayed in BW Plus hotels, this one was the most expensive and to be honest I didn't see a good reason way.

"Great stay"

863pj, Idaho 27/09/2019

King corner window room, large room with sofa. Comfortable bed and pillows, clean and well kept. Walking distance to small casino and restaurant. 10% coupon for restaurant. Morning breakfast bar in lobby had typical motel fare of waffles, coffee, eggs, breads, cereals, muffins, juices, etc. nice place to stay after long day of travel.

"Great kitchen!"

jdminny, Brooklyn, New York 25/09/2019

Double queen room with kitchen was spacious and the kitchen was great! Bring your own coffee and make a full meal in this nice kitchen. Phillies and need were comfy and shower was strong . Really nice that no casino was attached to this hotel.

"Helpful and friendly"

User 24/09/2019

Our one night stay at BW Gold Country Inn was perfect. The manager who greeted us was friendly and most helpful. She quickly solved a problem with using my BW points and suggested a nearby restaurant including menu suggestions. Rooms were clean and spacious.

"Great stop on our way to Idaho"

DVS, San Diego 20/09/2019

The check in was easy with nice front desk staff. We got a very large king suite with kitchen, sitting area. It was comfortable, roomy and clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was quite at the end of the hall. We realized that we really enjoy a larger room when traveling. We would definitely stay here again. There is a breakfast place called The Griddle that serves breakfast and lunch. Such a great diner with excellent food.

"Large rooms"

Salth2o, Salt Lake City, Utah 11/09/2019

This Best Western is very nice, in excellent condition with very large rooms, they're very friendly. includes a hot breakfast. they very close to the casinos. I was just passing through Nevada on my way to San Francisco

"2nd Vaca of the Year"

ElizabethCCC, California City, California 08/09/2019

Nice building, 2-floors & elevator. Our room was really nice, had (2) chairs, one w a foot stool. A bench @ the end of one of the beds. Super nice people. Pros: Cupcakes, bed comfortable, nice pillows, room had fridge, micro, coffee. Shower was nice (light over shower area), towels were soft. Water was super soft, which makes u feel slimy. Breakfast had eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, bagels, danish, boiled eggs, yogurt, english muffin Con: Off site Fitness

"Very Nice"

MLE0904, Las Vegas, Nevada 03/09/2019

This was, by far, the best BW we stayed at on our trip. (probably stayed at about a dozen over or 4 week road trip.) The staff was friendly and helpful when asking about nearby eatereies. The cupcakes at check in were an extra plus. Would certanly stay here again.

"Tesla Destination Charging. "

Cali4niahiker, Merced, California 27/08/2019

BW Winnemucca is well run. All staff we met were friendly and professional. Room was clean, spacious, beds very comfortable. Breakfast was typical BW, good variety, well stocked by staff. Wifi is excellent. An added bonus for us was Tesla Destination Charger (level 2, Tesla fitting plug). Very convenient as we didn't have to wait for the car to charge. Charging overnight took about 7 h from 60 to 300 miles. A bit faster than our level 2 home charger. The charging area as well as the hotel grounds are well maintained. The only problem we had was a slight knocking sound we could not pinpoint. After checking out the usual suspects (AC, heater, clock, fridge, etc) we gave up. The noise seemed to move around, like water pipes expanding or contracting. At first I thought it was going to drive me nuts all night, but I ended up with a decent night's sleep after all. For runners, there's a trail up the hill close to where the W is carved into the hill. Check it out on the trails app. Best start very early. It's in full sun. The hubby sent me nice photos from up there though. :)

"Not Impressed with Best Western Anymore"

User 28/07/2019

I feel like Best Western used to be a great hotel to stay at that accommodated families. My last 2 stays at a Best Western left a lot to be desired. We stayed at this hotel twice on our way to Lake Tahoe & back home to Boise, Idaho. Breakfast was okay. Would be nice if they offered some extra toppings for the waffles. Most hotels have a few options like whipped cream, fruit etc. What really was disappointing was there was 0 highchairs for children to eat breakfast, so we had to try to get plates for everyone and take our food back to our hotel room with the toddler in tow. The people at the front desk were rude and didn't even apologize, just a short "NO" when we asked about a high chair. I cancelled my upcoming reservations at another Best Western because I am just so disappointed in their lack of care for their loyal guests. The Best Western in Venture Beach is also a joke!

"Excellent experience"

Tourist07528860295, Napa, California 27/07/2019

Excellent Service and excellent Breakfast, with speedy check in and check out. Excellent Room decor and loved the hot cookies. Looking forward to out next visit. Enjoyed the dinner at the casino next door.

"Pleasantly Suprised"

SanDiegoMomma, San Diego, California 26/07/2019

I was impressed for a 2-3star hotel. It was clean and the rooms were big. We were comfortable and breakfast was better than expected in the least it offered a variety. (sausage, eggs, waffles, cereal, yogurt, toast, etc.) I would recommend it!

"Comfortable stop on I80"

E5130YQrobertb, Tiburon, California 13/07/2019

A convenient and comfortable stop when travelling interstate. Very well maintained property, and for the moat part, reasonable rates. Although on this stop I felt the rate was very high. Rooms are large, with comfortable beds.

"Filthy floors"

User 04/07/2019

Floors were disgusting. After my socks turned black, I tried wiping a small section of the floor with one of their wash cloths. The cloth was filthy after seconds. Besides that, everything else in the room seemed fine.

"One of the best in Winnemucca"

Pat B, Mountain View, California 02/07/2019

Clean, spacious, free breakfast, easy to find, we are big fans of this place with the possible exception of price - hard to arrive late, leave early, and spend that much. That said, if traveling with kids it's a great stay given the swimming pool and the size of the rooms.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your kind comments about our hotel. I'm sorry that you were not happy with the price.

"Best of the Best Westerns"

Debb O, Dana Point, California 23/06/2019

This hotel has a great staff, rooms are well appointed and very clean! The breakfast area has many options - and is always well stocked. If you are driving through or staying in Winnemucca - This is the place to stay!

"Pretty typical Best Western Plus"

Anne T, Surprise, Arizona 17/06/2019

Comfortable, large room, good location. Pretty typical for a Best Western Plus. Breakfast was nothing special but was adequate. Would stay here again if we ever travel this route again. Beds were comfortable.

bud4you, Shingle Springs 04/06/2019

The motel has been remodeled and upgraded. Nice size rooms, comfy beds. Breakfast in the lobby is typical hotel fair. But it is filling. Good location to events in town. Helpful staff. It is clean and the parking is close to entry and exits..

User 31/05/2019

Aside from BW's always being clean, friendly and affordable, they also are great with pets. When I checked in with my English Pointer I received a fleece blanket with a Milkbone attached for my pup to lay on. So thoughtful and a great idea!

"Overall Good Stay - Fairly Unpleasant Checkin Clerk"

Marietta P, Huntsville, Alabama 30/05/2019

Check in was not friendly, instead it was perfunctory. They had cupcakes at the front desk which is something I've never seen. They were full size with heaps of frosting piled on top. The hotel has two floors and an elevator. The rooms on the north corner are best accessed via the stairs. All of the rooms here are huge and they have two sinks - one in the bathroom and one just outside of the bathroom so two people can get ready for the day at the same time. The AC worked nice (it was a unit high on the wall which surprised me) and the bed was comfortable. Our king bed had an easy chair and a sofa with coffee table as well. We liked our corner room as it had two windows. Breakfast here is solid - they have scrambled eggs, sausages, full sized yogurts (including Greek), cereal, pastries, bread, waffle maker and bananas, apples and oranges. Coffee was weak and the OJ drinkable. I enjoyed the hot oatmeal. I liked the water cooler and filled up my bottles. We found a really nice employee that helped us drag our suitcases down the stairs (we were way for from the elevator). That was appreciated - there are some friendly people who work here!!

"great customer service and super class aminities."

notanexpertguy, Sheridan, Wyoming 25/05/2019

Rooms are 5star and gym is awesome 24/7. Been there for a while and BW has been letting you feel its a home away from home. Make sure to book here because its center for everything in town. Very clean rooms. The lobby smells so good always. The gym is located at the back of the hotel across the street which is 24/7. The equipments are highly advanced. the yogurts are so delicious.

"Kingman AZ area"

Connector36687253092, Sublimity, Oregon 23/05/2019

We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the refrigerator and microwave which we used to heat our dinner so we didn't have to go out again. It was conveniently close to the sights we had chosen to visit.

"Wishing that we had a reason to stay longer"

Laura M, Chester, California 22/05/2019

The BW Gold Country Inn staff was professional and very friendly. We felt as though we were visiting friends! Large guest rooms with all the amenities. The room was furnished with a couch, settee, comfy chairs, two ottomans, large desk, six lamps, and a comfortable bed. The easy-to-adjust thermostat did not require a degree in electrical engineering. The something-for-everyone breakfast was served in the lobby, which was filled with bright, natural light. Restaurant, located in casino next door, is a short walk to dinner.

"Good place to stay in Winnemucca, Nevada"

Kelly M, Cotati, United States 22/05/2019

The location is convenient, the staff is friendly and professional. The roo.s are both clean and spacious. There is a restaurant in a casino about half a block away that has plenty of food for a good price.

"Very nice Best Western"

Laura P, Rapid City, South Dakota 21/05/2019

Hotel clean and well appointed. Room nice size; included a very comfortable couch. Bed very comfortable. Quiet, easy access, fresh cupcakes at check in. Staff were efficient and helpful. Breakfast average fare. Coffee available at all times.

"Great Place to stay and pet friendly too."

Helen223, Okanogan, Washington 19/05/2019

I think this was the nicest hotel I have stayed at. From the person checking me in, to the one checking me out were both friendly and did their job great. The dog got his own blanket and dog treat at check in. There is a pet fee. The room was great, large, with a couch and chair, plenty of places to plug in electronics. Two sinks. They put me with a dog on the end by and exit near the pet area on the ground floor. The breakfast was great. I was thrilled with this place and I already have a reservation for my return trip on the way home.

"Near downtown"

Terisa C, Reno, Nevada 11/05/2019

Hotel is near the downtown area. It is quiet, clean and friendly. The breakfast is fresh and plentiful. Small refrigerator and microwave in room. Plenty of pillows. Only five minutes from freeway exit

"Nice place to stay"

User 09/05/2019

This is a nice place to stay in Winnemucca. Breakfast wasn't bad. The eggs were way over cooked but they offer a nice selection of cereals. Convenient to restaurants and casinos (within walking distance). Will definitely stay again if going through Winnemucca

"Great Stay"

User 05/05/2019

Great nights stay. For a few extra dollars, this place was clean, newer and the staff was great. I really enjoyed the fact that it had no casino, the lobby did not smell of smoke. In the morning I had a good quick breakfast before hitting the road. I will definitely stay here again.

"Nice size rooms"

Aileen H, Grass Valley, California 02/05/2019

Staff was friendly and helpful. We were traveling with our dog and when we checked in they gave us a little blanket for dog to lay on and a little treat. The room felt big and the refrigerator had a small freezer in it, which was great for all my freezer packs. I liked that they had a few grassy areas to walk the dog in and not just a big dirt lot. I would definitely stay there again. We were on the street side of the hotel and thought that the traffic noise would be bad but it wasn't.

"Comfortable Hotel and Friendly Staff"

ExTex2015, Roseville, California 29/04/2019

We have stayed there 3 times and always find it comfortable. The bed was very comfortable with lots of high quality pillows. We had an accessible room that included bars in the bathroom. There was no seat in the bathtub. There was also a generous amount of towels. One of the sinks had a moveable magnifying mirror which my husband loved for shaving. The room was a king with a couch, easy chair, and a desk with a chair. There was also a microwave and refrigerator. The breakfast was the usual fair with some hot items, waffles, yogurts, fruit, and muffins. Our only 2 complaints were the excessively soft water and double with our room keys. It felt like it was impossible to rinse off the soap in the shower. There was also a problem with 4 room keys not working and having to return to the desk desk multiple times until a correct key was made.

"Good Hotel Stay"

Robert E, Vancouver, United States 29/04/2019

Check in was fast and easy and we got a nice welcome bag with the rewards package. The room was nice and clean, beds and pillows were excellent. We had breakfast before we hit the road and the options were excellent. Did't have a chance to enjoy the pool because we only stood one day. We were traveling with our dog Bentley and he was relaxed and happy here. Good place to stay. We will stay at Best Western from now on!

"Wow. Nothing to complain about."

TumbleweedXX, Victoria, Canada 27/04/2019

This hotel is very well designed AND very well put together. Most unusual. The layout of our suite was excellent - sitting area, sleeping area, kitchenette area. Appliances were modern, matching and functional. The bathroom was private and they even put the exhaust fan over top of the shower, where it belongs but almost never is. Happy to recommend this to anyone.

"Best place in town, but that is faint praise because there aren't any other choices"

Kevin F, Granite Bay, California 20/04/2019

Nice, clean, well maintained, good location, dependable. Popular, so you want to make sure you have a reservation. There is nothing special about this place but it is the best you can find in this town. No amenities such as a pool or gym (there is a pool next door at the casino hotel). A decent breakfast, better than a traditional 'continental' breakfast. Lobby is getting tired and needs remodel, but it is serviceable. Rooms were just remodeled. Grocery store, dining, gambling all a short walk.

"Nice Short Stay"

DrZ0621, Las Vegas, Nevada 15/04/2019

Arrived late at night, as we were just stopping to spend the night while traveling through the area. The room appeared to be a bit dated, but were spacious and clean. The free breakfast had enough choices to be satisfied. Overall it was a nice stay, but nothing exceeded expecations.

"All things considered..."

User 13/04/2019

This was our second stay at the Winnemucca Best Western, and both stays have been really enjoyable. The only really negative thing that I can say about this stay is that I couldn't connect to the WeFi and had to go to the Check-in desk with my laptop. The clerk at the desk took four or five minutes to secure a connection and had no explanation. Other than that, the stay was great.

"Sleepless in Winnemucca"

michaelwH7871TY, Tri-Cities, Washington 08/04/2019

Mostly nice hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast was somewhat limited with two hot items plus waffles but more than most stays. The real problem is with the beds. No one in our party of four could sleep very well due to the extremely hard mattresses causing tossing and turning all night long. When I stepped out of bed, I did not feel rested and was dreading getting back on the road. One plus is, it got me to go to breakfast early. My wife did find hair in the bathroom.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review us. We always appreciate hearing from our guests what they liked or didn't like about our hotel. I would love to offer more than the standard full breakfast. Unfortunately we are limited in our counter space and there is only so much room. As you know, each person has a different preference when it comes to beds and it is quite difficult to find a mattress that makes everyone happy. It is either too soft, or too hard. I am sorry that your wife had an issue with the bathroom and I have spoken to the housekeeping staff about doing a double check after they have cleaned an area to make sure it is up to our standards.

bicycling4lou, Spokane, Washington 26/02/2019

We have always had good service at the hotel. It is clean and the staff are friendly. It is located close to shopping and restaurants. Easy walking distance to everything. The scenery of the mountains are good especially with sunrises and sunsets.

"Always stay at the BW Gold Country Inn when in Winnemucca"

snlpurs, Newbury Park, California 04/02/2019

Whenever I travel through Winnemucca I always choose the Gold Country Inn. Good value, clean rooms, centrally located, good breakfast and next to many restaurant options and they also takes pets when applicable.

"Winnemucca stop."

E5130YQrobertb, Tiburon, California 31/12/2018

Easy to find. Close to gas stations, markets, restaurants. Comfortable rooms. Great beds. Perfect stop for a trip between the Bay Area and Boise. Winnemucca is the gateway to Highway 95 north to southwest Idaho.

"Winnemucca's best hotel deal"

CaliNatives, California 30/12/2018

Surprisingly nice hotel in Winnemucca. Rates were reasonable, the room was terrific, and within walking distance of a wonderful Chinese restaurant. Upon entering the large doors, it looked very welcoming. The front lobby is spacious with a granite counter, water feature, friendly staff, had nice furnishings, large seating area with a huge television. The large hallway connecting all rooms was wide, had nice lighting and possibly new carpet. Our room was large and clean and looked to be newly remodeled. I liked the seating area, good size desk, lighting options, large television, sanitized TV remote, and the amenities in the bathroom were good quality. Morning breakfast included fresh coffee, juice, yogurt, eggs, potatoes, and all the usual offerings with plenty of places to sit. Overall, one of the best Best Western's I've stayed in.

"Probably best option in Winnemucca"

User 23/12/2018

Stayed here on the way from Salt Lake City to Lake Tahoe. The lady at the counter - Sev - was extremely friendly and nice. Rooms and beds were OK, linen even great. They have an arrangement with a pretty good gym across the street that's open 24/7. The bath was awful though - it drains to about half full, so you can't even submerge. Some hairs in the tub, otherwise pretty clean room. Breakfast was standard and decent.

"Clean, quiet, pleasant"

RonLeiken, Carson City, Nevada 11/12/2018

I have stayed here several times for business trips to Winnemucca area. I like it, as in the title - it is clean, quiet, and pleasant. Nice lobby, coffee and tea, breakfast. It is also in a good location, walking distance (from 1 block to several) to several good restaurants. Most hotels in Winnemucca are also close to restaurants. I would say this is in the higher range for Winnemucca.

"Great place to stay"

Lola E, Rochester, Washington 11/12/2018

Winnemucca is not a large town but it's interesting. We were there one night heading home from Utah. The room was very comfortable and super clean!! Employees were very nice and helpful! Told us their favorite places to eat. Which were good! The free breakfast was great also! Lots of hot coffee!! Would stop there again if driving that way! Very easy access to freeways and gas stations!!

"Very nice hotel"

User 01/12/2018

I really like this hotel and I almost always stay here when I am passing through Winnemucca. This time I think it was more expensive than the last few times I used them. The rooms I have stayed in have always been great and the breakfast is pretty good too. Everything is clean and I like having the fridge and micro in the room. The pet fee is reasonable.

"great location, easy acess"

User 01/12/2018

I have stayed here multiple times with great satisfaction. This year there has been a steep increase in price that will force me to look at other accomodations. I regularly travel during the week, avoiding weekends when there is a higher demand.

"Trying to avoid a snow storm, I pulled in to get a room....."

Jeri S, Weiser, Idaho 29/11/2018

My husband was not able to make the road trip with me, but he reminded me to try a Best Western as he had some sort of "discount" I could use there. I did pull in, was welcomed warmly in the beautifully decorated lobby by Ashley and another young woman with brunette hair (sorry I forgot your name!), and given a lovely room with a discount for my husband being a Veteran! Room was clean and tidy and offered a sustaining breakfast the next morning.

"Good property "

736edb, Eagle Mountain, Utah 28/11/2018

Overall, this is a very good property. The check in and check out were both quick. The reception area was nicer than most and had a nice Christmas display. The cupcakes they give were very good. Better than the cookies that most hotels have at check in. The room was very large and clean. Breakfast was about average for best westerns. The only negative was the price was a little bit high, but I think all in the area were higher than most cities similar to this. It must have something to do with the mines nearby. Again overall a good stay. I would definitely stay here again.

"Lack of cleanliness"

Coastal60010778446, Oakdale, California 26/11/2018

We arrived late with our 13wk old baby and found the staff at checkin helpful, however once in the beds were uncomfortable, the water is cloudy we cleaned baby bottles with cold bottled water, and found the bathroom covered in pubic hair and more hair found on the beds in the morning. We did not even shower checked out and will pass this one by in the future. Very surprised by the lack of cleanliness and poor experience from a best western.

"Average Motel But Room Tax Is OUrageous"

Dramat58, Newick, United Kingdom 19/11/2018

Usual Best Western, clean, friendly staff but abit outdated when it comes to decor of rooms. Room price is much too high but worse than that is the Humboldt County hotel room tax. US$16. Highway robbery. Breakfast area is small and becomes overcrowded easily.

"great place!"

Chris P, Klamath Falls, United States 12/11/2018

beds are good, breakfast is good, fairly quiet, good food nearby, allow pets for a charge, breakfast staff was nice, wish the fridge had a freezer in it, would definitely come back to this motel if in the area again

"I showed my diva friend how things are done"

SusieLou1962, Heber Utah 30/10/2018

My friend who pretends to be a diva "only stays at Hilton" La-Di-Da. Well, she and I and our spouses came to Winnemucca for a wedding. No Hilton so she begrudgingly booked a room here. I ALWAYS stay at BW Plus if there is one. She called me from her room and said it was super nice. Damn right it is. Check in was in a beautiful lobby and our rooms really were nice, clean and spacious. I did have a little problem with my Best Western Points but it all worked out. We sat in lobby after the wedding and visited and it was all very nice. You won't go wrong staying here, its a nice classy place.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your lovely response. I am so happy you were able to show your friend how you do things the diva way. We always love it when we make our guests happy and their stay is comfortable and relaxing. Glad you were able to stay with us and enjoy the wedding.

"Nice Foyer"

V6430SZroberth, Salt Lake City, Utah 28/10/2018

Passing through and stayed one night here. Foyer and gust reception friendly, decor nice. Breakfast buffet, well organized, sufficient dining area. Rooms, of which we had two queens was clean. My only gripe was that bed mattresses were old, springy in a negative way, pillows had seen better days, linen was thin and worn. Felt like thousands had use this bed over the many years it has been in service. If mattress isn't a priority, this would be a great BW stop.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for reviewing us on trip Advisor. I'm sorry that the bed accomodations were not up to par for you. I have passed on your comments to the appropriate departments.

"Ultra magnificent "

Wow. Everything you'd ever need and more. Its spectacular in every way. Personality, smiles and check in was a snap. Room was gorgeous, inviting and the amenities over the top. Thank you for a great restful night.

"Quality in Winnemucca, Nevada"

MAP94306, Palo Alto, California 06/10/2018

The Best Western is an excellent choice if you bring a four legged family member or notRooms have been re-done, ample parking, hearty breakfast, and very helpful staff.Beds are extremely comfortable; excellent TV with a variety of stations, and theinternet is reliable.

"Only Place"

This hotel is one of our places we love, neat, clean, quiet, and good service. Food is excellent, workers are helpful and efficient, we love coming here on our travels. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"OK Best Western"

johnfromlantzville, Lantzville, BC 04/10/2018

First off, I stayed here with points. I wouldn't pay $150 for a motel in Winnemucca, period. As the title says, it's an OK Motel. Nothing exceptional. The high point was the bed. It was very comfortable. The low point was the snarky lady at the check out. Overall, things were OK. nothing overly bad nor good. The breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes. Not much else, and a very small serving area. Internet showed 4Mb on Not too bad for Winnemucca, NV on DSL.

"Our preferred hotel brand ruined by this stay."

User 03/10/2018

I searched out a Best Western hotel as part of our road trip as we have had good experiences in the past, they offer family rooms which accommodate our family and include a great breakfast for a very reasonable price. At this location, when we checked in we were given a room with old 2 beds despite booking and paying for in advance, a family room (3 queen beds) We were then told that there was already someone else staying in the family room. The only option we were provided was for them to call another hotel to see if they had a family room free, fortunately that hotel had a family room. However it was a casino Hotel and stank of smoke. We had chosen this Best Western location as it was half way between two stops on our road trip, this meant a 13 hour drive to get there. Arriving exhausted with small children, being put into the wrong room, then having to explain to staff that we had booked the family room, then pack our children up and move to another hotel added an hour and a half onto an already long day never mind trying to deal with the smell all night. The staff offered to honour the rate we had pre-paid for. It after finding out the room rate at the other hotel was significantly cheaper, this just adds insult to injury. We were unable to speak with the manager directly despite arriving 8:30pm and we left before they arrived I. The morning but did ask to be contacted. We have yet to be contacted by this location. We used to search out Best Western hotels for our family road trips, I will be looking for other options for our return trip. The ratings for cleanliness is based on the hour we spent in this hotel trying to sort out this mess.

Thank you for notifying me about the problem you had with your reservation at the Gold Country Inn in Winnemucca. It is unfortunate that we were unable to accommodate your requests for the family suite. On rare occasions, circumstances beyond our control create situations which compel us to move guests from a room they requested to another room. Unfortunately, such a situation existed when you came to check in. We did have you booked into our family suite which you had requested. Unfortunately the family that had booked the room the previous night and was due to check out that morning had an accident which necessitated them staying another night with us to await a new rental car from Reno. As we have only one family room, this made it impossible for us to book you into that room. The clerk that was on duty, tried her best to see what she could do given the situation. I am surprised that you were subjected to smoke at the Winnemucca Inn and will be passing that information along to the Manager there as the rooms are all non smoking. Please accept an additional 24,000 points which will enable you to book a free complimentary room at any Best Western hotel of your choice as a token of our sincerity and concern. I am aware this will not erase the inconvenience caused. I am hopeful you will accept this in the spirit it is given, as a gesture of our desire to restore your faith in our brand. Best Western successfully credited your account the additional 24,000 points. Once again, please accept my apologies for the stressful situation you encountered while visiting Winnemucca.

"Road Trip Stop"

createandcapturelife, Cypress, California 03/10/2018

The hotel was pretty clean. The room was spacious. Very expensive considering the area and lack of amenities. Breakfast was okay, not great. WiFi is terribly slow. The room never cooled off even with air conditioning. A lot of noise through out the night, probably because we were right next to the entrance door to the hallway. Overall okay, but too expensive.

"Staple of Winnemucca"

Manny E, Williams 02/10/2018

I had a very pleasant stay at the Gold Country inn. I usually get the Kitchenete suite being that I stay longer than a week usually but I actually stayed in the Double Queen Standard this time. Stay was good and would stay again.

"Best place to stay in Winnemucca!"

Elygirl4life, Ely, Nevada 28/09/2018

The room was very spacious, with not only a comfy chair and ottoman, but a full-sized couch and a bench/ottoman for my comfort with another higher bench at the foot of the very comfortable king-sized bed. I spent more time than usual in my room because it was such a great space!

"Wonderful in Winnemucca!"

UtahTravelMomof1, Salt Lake City, Utah 22/09/2018

We stopped at the hotel as a halfway point to our final destination. We weren't expecting much more than a place to sleep but were overwhelmed by how nice this hotel is - and the staff some of the best we've experienced. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. Love that they have Dish instead of the typical hotel Tv where you don't know what is on. The Bath and Body Works soaps and shampoos an added bonus! Roberta on breakfast service was a superstar, front desk incredibly friendly and helpful. Gave us loads of advice and dinner recommendations. We enjoyed it so much that we planned our return trip through Winnemucca too despite having other options. Huge kudos to the hotel and staff.

"Gross pool and hot tub / FILTHY ROOMS "

Ammo68, Redwood City 17/09/2018

Been a long time elite BW MEMBER since 1992 the first pic shows the filth on and around the TV Very gross The rest of the pics shows the pool and hot tub . Sort of proves my point . BW standards are crashing . NEVER EVER would they have allowed a location flying their flag to look as gross as this The breakfast ? Let's just say go to subway across the street My crew advises me the budget hotels in town where cleaner ! Get it together BW !

I appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey on Trip Advisor following your trip to Winnemucca. I am sorry you did not receive the service, cleanliness and consideration you expect from Best Western. Usually, when a guest is unhappy with the quality of their room, the staff here is expected take a pro active approach and move them to another room immediately and to make the housekeeping staff aware of the problem with the room. Why this option was not made available to you worries me. I have taken the steps to review your comments in detail with all departments involved with the cleaning, maintaining, and upkeep of our hotel to ensure these faults are solved promptly and impeccably for our guests. I noted that there were only two pictures that I was able to see on your Trip Advisor review. One was a cigarette butt that had blown in and the other was the cover to the hot tub had been placed half hazard in the corner. I did not see any pictures of the rooms and the lack of cleanliness. For some reason, I was not able to see if you posted pictures or if I was not able to pull them up. While I certainly do not doubt your word, are their any pictures that you would be willing to share with me that I can show to my staff to make sure they understand the importance of a clean room for our guest? I have learned with experience, that sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

"trip to winnmucca nevada"

User 14/09/2018

We had a great 60 anv. traveling through winamucca nevada and our stay at bestwestern. Help full staff for disabled folks. The easy access to room and breakfast was great and we did not have to go to another place to eat. We would recommend this place to anyone using a walker because of open spaces to get around.

"Great Staff! Very friendly and helpful."

Zcanana, Louisville, Colorado 10/09/2018

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and very quiet. Walking distance to several restaurants. Pet friendly with nice pet areas and bags for clean up. LARGE selection of breakfast items. While a little on the expensive side....Would definitely stay here again.

"Good Place to Stop"

panamint-bob, Huntington Beach, California 03/09/2018

Pool has a large indoor pool and a large spa. They both seemed quite clean. Room was large, fairly clean, Carpet had spots, could use a cleaning. Beds comfortable. Very good breakfast. scrambled eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, sweet rolls, assorted juices. I was travelling with my three children so having a full free breakfast makes the extra charge for the room worthwhile. Tghe biggest issue was that we stayed for two days and the room was not cleaned between the first and second day. We were carefull to move our luggage to one location, stack the dirty linens, etc. to prepare for cleaning. I made sure the don not disturb sign was NOT on the door. The lady came by to clean and we told her to come back in about thirty minutes and we would be gone. We left for the entire day hiking and exploring and did not come back until late at night. We were VERY dissapponted to find that the beds were not made, trash not emptied, linens not replaced. The lady at the front desk was very apologetic and brought us towels, but this has never happened at a hotel before, and since we were so exhausted it seemed like a big deal at the time. I'm assuming it was a mistake, so this does not reflect in my overall review. Overall The hotel was good and I would probably stay here again.

"Overpriced but Pretty"

User 02/09/2018

When you are out in the middle of nowhere, prices seem to increase. Nice hotel with a kitchenette, which would be nice for long stays. Very appealing looking hotel with nice large rooms, but way overpriced for what you get. Twice the price of any other Best Western I stayed in during my 10 day trip.

"Not so great"

User 01/09/2018

There was a large generator right outside the room that sounded like a vacuum cleaner running all night. The carpet was so dirty my socks were black in the morning. The bed was very uncomfortable and needs replaced.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for completing the survey regarding your recent stay at our property. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. I am sorry that you were not happy with the room you were in. I have added a note to the history file for you to let all the clerks know that they are to make sure you are never put in a room close to the back area where the generator is and to move you up several rooms. I am baffled that you found our carpet dirty and have asked our carpet installer to come and see what is going on with our carpet as that carpet is brand new and has just been installed. I'm concerned that there might be a dye issue and this is causing a dye transfer. Once again, please accept my apologies that the room was not acceptable and rest assured that I am taken steps to correct the issues. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. If I can provide any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

"A Delightful Find in Winnemucca"

wagman214, Bakersfield 27/08/2018

We really didn't know what to expect from this facility. It is not new but NEW doesn't always mean GOOD. Our experience was delightful. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean and unique: they were much larger than most hotel rooms, very well appointed with two sinks and vanity areas: one inside the bathroom and one right outside of it. There were a large selection of toiletries and soaps and a large number of TV channels. The room was quiet, bed comfortable, and everything worked well. Breakfast was above the ordinary complimentary experience and several choices available. The breakfast area was well situated with lots of tables and chairs. The location of the hotel made it available to nearby restaurants and other amenities and there is a supermarket right behind the hotel. We would definitely stay here when passing through Winnemucca again.

"Nice hotel for a stopover"

twobacks, Sandy, UT 25/08/2018

I stopped overnight at this hotel on a trip to Lake Tahoe, CA. I had a very nice room and got a good nights' sleep. The free breakfast the next morning was great. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants.

"Air Conditioner Broken!"

Shelyshine, Virginia City, Nevada 14/08/2018

No one warned me when I checked into the hotel, much earlier this evening, that the air conditioning is down. Apparently, It has been working only on the first floor—-no one told me, even after I requested a second story room. The room on the second floor smelled so bad that when I arrived I was forced to open a window. I didn't realize that the air conditioning wasn't functioning, until I closed the window and there was no change in room temperature after turning on the air. Otherwise, I would have changed hotels. I'm here on business which means I need sleep. I confronted the staff they had no answers. They offered only a move to an even smellier pet room on the first floor, which would necessitate my opening a window to the hot night air—no solution at all. This hotel was never my first choice. After tonight, I will not stay here again. The way events unfolded is simply unforgivable.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for reviewing the Gold Country Inn on Trip Advisor. I appreciate your taking the time and hope you will accept my apologies for any inconvenience you experienced. Unfortunately on the night you stayed with us we encountered a problem with one of our condensers in our Air Conditioning Unit. We did not become aware of it right away until it started to get warm in the lobby area. Once we became aware, we took immediate action and requested our engineering department to look into it and give us updates. The updates were few and far between because they were busy trying to solve the problem. We did let incoming guests know of the situation and tried contacting in house guests that there was a problem and we were working on resolving the situation and did not have a estimated time. I am sorry that the staff missed contacting you. I know it can be frustrating to be in the dark about a problem. If you would, I'd like to have you contact me in regards to the smell you encountered so we can discuss it further. I'm not sure what kind of smell you were subjected to as all of our furniture, furnishings, carpet and carpet pads are less than a month old. After tearing everything out, each room was subjected to a deep cleaning prior to installing the new furnishings, carpet pad, carpet, furniture, etc. Pets are not allowed upstairs and are only allowed at the far end downstairs and all the rooms were redone. My head housekeeper checked the rooms and did not encounter a smell, so I'm wondering if the smell you encountered was the new carpet smell or something else we missed and we need to be resolve it? I can tell you this was a real learning experience for us and we are taking steps to prevent your situation from occurring again in the future and to handle issues in a better way. Once again, please accept my apologies.

"Great Stay home after Hot August Nights"

84idaho, Lowman, Idaho 14/08/2018

Decided to overnight in Winnemucca on our way home from Hot August Nights, Reno/Sparks and give the 57 Chevy a break from the hot desert heat (and us too!). Great staff and room accommodations; breakfast attendant was observant and attentive ensuring hot and plentiful food during our time. Desk staff, especially Debbie, were caring, outgoing, and helpful. Housekeeping staff also shared fresh, home-grown veggies!! Walking distance to casinos and sports bars. Very relaxing; will make this our Hot August Nights half way mark next year.

This is a nice BW. THe front desk staff is great, the rooms are decent sized and clean & comfortable. Outdoor pool is good on a hot day, Chihuahua's is just down the street. Breakfast is not skimpy. I would stay here again....

"Winnemucca Best Western"

Overall it is conveniently located the rooms have comfortable beds they have a continental breakfast it's walking distance to the restaurant for dinner the parking is easy and free that's free Wi-Fi and in general the staff was friendly

"Nice stop at the end of a long day"

eogilvie1, Tucson, Arizona 30/07/2018

We drove in from Bend, Oregon, and there was a lack of rest stops along the way. Not the hotels fault by any means. Room was the best we stayed in on our vacation.up to this point. Front desk staff was wonderful. They recommended we eat in the Winnemucca Inn, which is on the other side of an adjacent property they hotel has. Still, it is a short walk and I have COPD and did so easily. Supermarket (Ridley's) is behind the hotel on 4th street. Winnemucca Inn has a casino, though small by Vegas standards. Breakfast was good, but the OJ was not. I took one sip and could tell it was past expiration date. Would have given a higher rating otherwise. I you are fueling up, go to the Flying J. It is west of the BW .

MMarrs, Modesto, California 25/07/2018

Clean rooms, great breakfast, comfortable bed. I was just passing through but would definitely take more time on my next trip through. I stayed in a king suite that had a full, clean kitchen and a nice bathroom

"Best in Winnemucca, NV"

User 18/07/2018

We stay in Winnemucca every 4 months and have given up on the Holiday Inn. The Best Western is much more up-to-date and much more pleasant to deal with. The hotel is clean, A/C everywhere, good pool and very nice rooms. We had two rooms on July 16th, 2018, one couple and one Mom with two kids. All were very pleased with the accommodations. We will make this our stop from now on.

"Nice sunset from the fires"

busymom11, Utah 17/07/2018

We had three queen size beds in our suite. The breakfast was better than most places we stayed. There were several hot options, a nice selection of sweet breads and drinks. The beds were quite comfortable and the room was clean. It was rather pricey - there's no place like home:) Check-out was later than most.

"Three queen beds, private bedroom, clean, pricey"

Mapletonmom2018, Mapleton, Utah 17/07/2018

Check-in was easy. Our suite had three queen beds, with one of the queens in a private bedroom. Really like the two sink separate bathroom, making it easier for the four of us to get ready in the morning. Breakfast had a nice assortment of hot options. The pool was nice, but no restrooms. Towels and keys available at front desk. One of the better breakfasts we had on our vacation. Pricey.

"last night of long trip"

Mike G, Aptos, California 15/07/2018

Stayed here on last leg of 3,000 mile journey- it was a good choice. Large room, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, quiet. People were nice. Breakfast was not spectacular, but it was fine and the area was large. Check in was fast and efficient.

"Great Stay!"

"Great bed, friendly, good location great Breakfast"

Robert S, Bothell, Washington 03/07/2018

We were at the end of the hall on the second floor. Very quiet. Large room. Great mattress! I had really low expectations for the breakfast, but the eggs were well cooked, sausage and potatoes were also excellent. I highly recommend it.

"Nice, quiet, good deal"

mmach999, Burlingame, California 01/07/2018

Nice hotel. Has a small outdoor pool and spa, the staff is friendly, good breakfast included, property is quiet, very convenient to freeway and restaurants, includes microwave and fridge. Reasonable rates.

"Overnight Rest Stop"

BozemanDave, Billings, Montana 29/06/2018

I have stayed at this facility in the past and knew what to expect on arrival. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly, my room was roomy and clean. I would stay here again on future trips. The breakfast bar was about average but the coffee was excellent. I forgot an item of clothing in my room and called the motel from down the road. I was returning to Montana by the same route and they had it wrapped and ready for me when I went by to collect it. Thank you.

"Great Place to look into"

"Company Trip to Winnemucca"

User 14/06/2018

Clean and pleasant property. Makes a good traveller stop on I-80. Breakfast was good - a bit cramped in the lobby but acceptable. Suggest the local Pizza/Brewpub (Winnemucca Pizzeria) for dinner - excellent. The "Plus" properties are a cut above the regular Best Western properties.

"3 is not a negative. It was A-OK"

DebbieHatch, Gretna, Nebraska 08/06/2018

3 stars is not a negative. 3 is A-Ok which is what my room was. It was a comfortable place to lay my head for a couple days as I was in town on business. Convenient location. The hot breakfast is better than the bagel and toast option many places offer - not as great as some others. I have no complaints. My room was clean and quiet. The wifi was not fantastic - either it wasn't working or it was working super slow. I ended up just giving up and using my phone as a hotspot.

"Small Town Excellence"

CARL B, MODESTO 07/06/2018

We generally stay at Best Western motels when we are on trips, and usually find them a very good choice. This trip was no exception, and the Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn in Winnemucca follows the same pattern of cleanliness, comfort and cordial employees that we have come to expect from the Best Western brand. Located in a very small community, there was absolutely no skimping on service and quality at this motel. We were very pleased with the entire experience.

"Always a nice place to stay."

karlee_sos, Ogden, Utah 31/05/2018

We always stay here when traveling through Winnemucca. This time we stayed the first night and the last night of our trip. The rooms are always clean and smell fresh. Everything is in good working order. On the trip home there was some kind of motorcycle event going on and the hotel was crowded. The breakfast area was very crowded and many foods had run out, but this would not stop me from staying again. The prices are affordable. The breakfast is adequate and the coffee is good. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. I tried to buy water from the vending machine; it took my money but did not give me the water. When I went to the front desk not only did I get my money back but the desk clerk also gave me two waters. There are good restaurants, shopping, and casinos within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again.

"Great place!"

Judith P, Viola, ID 31/05/2018

I've stayed here before and it's even better. The eggs were the best I've had at a BW; watery eggs is my perennial complaint, and these weren't. Very accommodating for us and our motorcycles. We enjoyed our stay very much.

"Great Hotel"

Gusutah, Farmington, Utah 31/05/2018

We were just passing through to Reno and stayed one night here. I enjoyed the hotel, breakfast and room. I have nothing bad to say. Everything was clean and comfortable. I love the Bath and Body Works accessories. Great location. Easy to get off of the freeway and then back on the road in the morning.

"Nice Room - Friendly staff"

wroughtironron, Rochdale, England 26/05/2018

The room was fine, with both a fridge and microwave and two queen beds. The road outside the window gave us some traffic noise which died down later on. The breakfast was ok for a complimentary - plenty of fresh fruit, waffle machine and choice of pastries. Winnemucca was full of bikers and it was great to see all the bikes in the car park.

"Great stop along the way"

ValsTravels2015, Gardnerville, Nevada 17/05/2018

Very clean, easy access from freeway and to local services. The staff was helpful and friendly. In the midst of remodeling - delivery of furniture was a bit confusing for everyone. Great value - will stay again on our .

"beautiful motel"

User 15/05/2018

Great room, Great staff. Breakfast bar was excellent with a large selection of different foods. Plenty of free parking. Made reservations for return trip. Would absolutely stay here again and spend more time in Winnemucca.

"Extra effort"

User 12/05/2018

I forgot my pillow in my room. BW Winnemucca called to let me know and I was able to double back before leaving town to pick it up. I really appreciated the extra effort of the house keeping and front office staff. Thank you!

"Avoid this hotel"

FrequentTraveller61, Portland OR 06/05/2018

Just spend one awful night at the BW Plus Gold Country Inn in Winnemucca, NV. I requested a “quiet” room. There was little to choose from so we ended up in 201 on the second floor. I doubt there is a worse location in this hotel as far as proximity to road noise. You will hear traffic from BOTH the rear and front of the hotel. As if that wasn't bad enough, the overpowering scented deodorizing spray used in our room was enough to choke you! Even with the window open fully, it was still nauseating for hours. If you insist on staying here, bring plugs for your nose and ears. The icing on the cake was the rude and unprofessional staff at the front desk. I've been traveling this year and have spent over 45 nights at various hotels. The woman on duty was by far the most unfriendly I've encountered in all my stay. As for me, I'm done staying at all Best Westerns and I'm a rewards member. If you're in Winnemucca, I recommend staying down the road at the at the Holiday Inn Express. You'll most likely sleep much better.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments concerning your visit to our hotel. I appreciate you taking the time to review our hotel and hope you will accept my apologies for any inconvenience you experienced. I am concerned that you had multiple problems during your stay. No guest should have the experience you encountered during your stay. First off, I spoke to the housekeeping staff about the amount of room deodorizer they used. I explained to them that while they may be used to the smell, our guests weren't and I would prefer a guest have a fresh clean room, then be overpowered by the scent. As far as the noise from the road, the only way that can be best address to make sure that guests who come in are given a room that meets their needs. Normally, we would of been able to move you to a room that was at the other end of the hotel and much quieter, but we are in the middle of putting in new carpet and furniture which limits our choice of rooms. Half of our rooms were down at the time of your stay. I definitely would like to know if the staff that was rude and unprofessional was during your check in or check out or both. Our customer service is what I take pride in and I do not tolerate rudeness at any time. Please reach out to me so we can discuss your stay further and I can make sure you are compensated for the lack of service and the bad nights stay.

"Nice stay halfway to Saint George"

User 23/04/2018

We stayed here on our halfway to Saint George. It was clean, nice. The breakfast was okay, nothing special. We stayed one night, but booked a room next door at the casino on our way back. It was also nice, and less expensive

"Just passing through. "

livetoride07, Sacramento, California 19/04/2018

After a later start then expected and a storm over the Sierra', we knew we were going to need a place to stay for the night. Rolled into town around 11:45pm the staff was fantastic, gave us a ground floor room at the end of the building, so it easy to walk our dog, the was very clean, quite and comfortable. Check out was a breeze, would definitely stay again.

"Nice location"

Lisa D, Avila Beach, Ca 11/04/2018

Great clean rooms, even those used by smokers, you just cannot tell. At least not with how they clean them, and being a cane user I was on ground floor. Which made it nicer too, thank you Best Western for maintaining a few smoking rooms.

"Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn"

This was an excellent, comfortable hotel that we really enjoyed staying in. We reserved it the day before we traveled and got the right room for our needs without any problem. Breakfast was good. Room was great!

"An excellent hotel"

SueinSalem, Salem, Oregon 07/04/2018

This is an excellent hotel. The hotel is clean and well run. The breakfast is quite good. The elevator works well. The rooms are spacious and clean. The best part of this hotel are the staff. They are gracious and helpful.

457duaneh, Bend 07/04/2018

Clean, comfortable, friendly. We always stay here when overnighting in Winnemucca! Rooms are quite, location is central. Always a pleasant stay. Coffee and tea available 24 /7. We would heartily recommend this hotel.

"Winnemucca GW Plus"

melllowdee, Long Beach, California 06/04/2018

This is a quiet and clean hotel with good parking out front, friendly staff at the front desk, kitchen, as well as maid service personnel. The location is convenient to any point in the city of Winnemucca.

"Good Stay"

O2954CVkarend, pocatello, United States 05/04/2018

It was a good place to stay the night. The bed was okay. The WIFI worked okay. The breakfast was good. The staff is very nice. There was ample parking. The room overall was average. I would recommend this place.

"The Best of the Best Westerns"

Herbert L W, College Place, WA, United States 04/04/2018

We have stayed in many Best Western Motels, but this one was absolutely the best by far. The staff was friendly, and helped us get a room near the entrance, and on the main floor, since it is hard for us old folks to walk very far.

"Great place to stay"

FlyFisher4trout, Pleasanton, California 17/03/2018

The folks who run and maintain this hotel do a great job! I highly recommend it. We have stayed here many times over the past 2 years and have never had a problem. It is always clean and comfortable. We will be back for sure.

"Front desk could have been more helpful"

jimfromjackson, Jackson, Wyoming 18/02/2018

Stayed here one night. Room was quiet and comfortable and clean. Mattresses great. Complimentary breakfast was good but predicable. Only complaint was that I needed to print out something on the lobby computer/printer and it was out of ink. Front desk person that morning (Feb 10) was unhelpful. Just said that they don't have a replacement cartridge. Expect more from the BW Plus.

"Perfect solution for our travel needs."

50isfine, Idaho 11/02/2018

We reserved the 2 bedroom suite because we needed the 3 beds that was available in this hotel. There are 3 very comfortable queen sized beds and one is in a seperate bedroom. The room was very clean and the toiletries were Bath and Body works, which was a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast was very good, lots of variety and the Waffles were delicious.

"Our stay"

bicycling4lou, Spokane, Washington 08/02/2018

Friendly and comfortable stay. Easy location to get food, walk around, groceries, car washed, had good complimentary cupcakes, good breakfast with lots of choices, good coffee and tea. Great cleanup crew too.

"Good Choice Among Many"

GrayRoads, Winthrop, Washington 30/01/2018

A clean, comfortable, well-appointed room. A quiet night, partly because it wasn't busy. Great staff. Good internet. Hot breakfast with someone making sure things were right. Pool was closed. Convenient if you want to be close to the downtown casinos. A good choice among the many places to stay in Winnemucca.

"Always dependable "

Jill R, Boise, Idaho 21/01/2018

A best Western Plus rarely lets you down. Once again, the one in Winnemucca is an example of that. Friendly personnel and very clean, nicely appointed rooms, great breakfast selection and easy access to/from freeway. Pet friendly!

"great comfortable,clean"

Judson P, Wilder, United States 07/01/2018

very clean, updated, friendly staff. everything worked. quiet. comfortable bed. good breakfast. internet easy, no hard passwords. Would stay there again if I need to travel that way again. Would recommend.

"Family Memorial Services"

Terrell S, Selma, United States 05/01/2018

The Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, Winnemucca, Nevada is our preferred hotel when visiting family in this town. We always enjoy the free breakfast; which is as good or better than any of the restaurants in town, and without the wait. The hotel is always very clean and the service exceptionally friendly and professional.

"Comfortable Stay"

User 04/01/2018

This hotel offers a great value! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel was nearly full, but we slept great and it was very quiet. Staff were very friendly and we received a gift bag of water and snacks when we arrived (for being a Best Western member). They have a nice selection of breakfast items in the morning. I would stop here again when I travel through this area.

"Perfect after a long drive"

Volumnia, Dallas 03/01/2018

Room was spacious and comfortable. Great bed. The desk chair needed repair or replacement, but other than that, the room was clean, warm, and comfortable. Great experience checking in and out. Quiet. If you want casino action, there is one nearby. Movie theatre across the street.

"Very nice and clean."

User 02/01/2018

This was the second Best Western Plus we stayed at on our road trip. I joined their rewards program because I was so impressed with the hotel and the price. Breakfast was included and was very nice. BW Plus hotel will be my go to when I am on the road and need a clean, nicely decorated hotel for a great price!

"Nice beds...but could use new carpet and some cleaning."

Papachop8, Spanish Fork, Utah 29/12/2017

We had a good nights sleep here and the front desk staff was very friendly. Our room was large and the beds were comfortable... but the carpets in the hallways are dirty and they need to be replaced in the rooms.

"Great stop after a long drive"

kendalto, Healdsburg, California 22/12/2017

The Best Western is a quiet oasis in the dessert. One thing I dislike about motels is that many only supply one chair in the room. My room had three chairs, one desk chair if you were in need of a work station, and two stuffed chairs if you want to sit down, relax, and watch TV. The breakfast is adequate to get you going in the morning. The Gold Country Inn is a perfect place to spend the night and break uptake monotony of endless dessert driving.

"Awesome Middle Nevada Hotel"

stonewallbernhardt, Lodi 20/12/2017

This hotel is awesome every time I stay here! Great clean rooms. Very friendly and courteous staff. Breakfast is awesome with a lot of variety! Hotel is usually very quiet. It's a great place to sleep and get recharged!

"Great place to stay"

Dominic B, Saint Croix Falls, Wisconsin 18/12/2017

Have stayed at this facility twice in the last couple years and is a great place to unwind after many hours on the road traveling. Close to everything as it is on the main street. Great breakfast area and food was great...employees were very pleasant, yet professional. Our room, each time we stayed, was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We will stay here again for certain.

"Great place to stop overnight"

681cassiej, Sacramento, California 01/12/2017

Clean and comfortable, friendly staff while checking in and out. Hot breakfast with lots of selections for adults and kids, good WiFi, nice beds. Great place to stop overnight while traveling through the area.

"A Really Great Hotel"

SueinSalem, Salem, Oregon 29/11/2017

The room smelled good when we walked in. The bathroom had Bath & Bodyworks amenities - "Rain Kissed Leaves" shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, and bath salts. The bathroom had great lighting and there was a swivel mirror by the sink outside the bathroom. There was a table and a computer table. There was a refrigerator and microwave in a cabinet. The complimentary breakfast included an egg omelet and cubed potatoes as well as breads, waffles, fruit, fruit juice and yogurt. They do have an elevator. The lobby was really nicely decorated.

good clean comfortable hotel. staff helpful. breakfast average and could be presented better. overall worth the money asked for the price of the room. will stay there again if we ever go that way again

"Rejuvenated Hotel"

U9641FCchrisb, Yreka, United States 22/11/2017

I travel on the I-80 corridor frequently, and have stayed at Gold Country Inn a number of times. Recent renovations and upgrades have greatly enhanced the visits and stay. The breakfast is hearty and varied.

"Just ok"

P F, BC Canada 17/11/2017

There is nothing really wrong with this hotel......just don't stay in room 148 right next to a transformer that starts up at ends at 5.30 am. The front desk staff were more interested in chatting then in looking after guests. The breakfast choices were pretty miserable and nothing like we had experienced in the previous BW Kennewick which was superb. No one was rude...but front desk were particularly unprofessional, and uncaring.

"Great Place to Stay"

User 15/11/2017

I have stayed here a few times over the past 8 years and have always been very satisfied with the quality of the rooms and the friendliness of the employees. I always get a king room and there is plenty of space for my husband and I and our 2 cocker spaniels. This time we got the handicap accessible room for my husband. It was spacious and had everything we needed. We asked for a shower chair which was provided quickly. The breakfast is pretty good and we were both satisfied. There are luggage carts and an elevator in the lobby if you need them. All the employees that I have dealt with have been pleasant and very accommodating. We will always stay here when we head to our daughter's home in Boise.

"Excellent Lodging"

Ed H, Everett, Washington 11/11/2017

We pass through Winnemucca two times per year and our top choice place to stay is the Best Western Gold Country. Clean rooms, reasonable price, great showers and comfortable beds. Each room has a small microwave and refrigerator. I like the fact that there are two sinks, so if one is taking a shower or using the white porcelain throne, the other can use the separate sink. Good selection of fruits, waffles, cereals, egg, potatoes, yogurt, etc at the free included breakfast.

"Only Place to stay in Winnemucca"

Mark D, Reno, Nevada 10/11/2017

My occupation brings me to the Winnemucca and Elko areas frequently. There are several other choices for lodging in Winnemucca and I have tried several of them over the years. I keep coming back to the Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn because it is clean, comfortable and a good value. I highly recommend staying here.

"Gold Country Inn"

tompW962SQ, Danville, United States 09/11/2017

Clean, reasonably priced hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is really good, so are the cupcakes in the afternoon. It is centrally located and there are restaurants and casinos nearby. The rooms are clean and quiet. I recommend you try this place when travelling through Nevada.

"Very Good"

User 09/11/2017

Service was very good. Rooms were clean and hotel was well kept. They serve real eggs not powdered at the breakfast buffet. We were a large soccer group in town for a soccer tournament. Our room had a kitchenette which was very nice. The gym is an actual pass to a full gym across the street.

984rona, carson cty, United States 03/11/2017

Zero complaints, was brief but great experience will be staying there again in the near future. Only a suggestion is better selection on cable channels that is not required to pay extra for , but that is what you run into at all hotels so not a negative against them just a thought for all to maybe grasp onto, Thanks

"It's alright"

TavNST, Hell, NV 02/11/2017

This was an okay place for one night. I appreciated having 2 sinks and a large king size bed. The hallway and rooms have a faint smoke smell. The walls are paper thin, I heard doors slam and toilets flushing all night. The breakfast in the morning was mediocre.

Lydie L, Manager at Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to offer a survey on Trip Advisor about the Gold Country Inn. I understand that you were not happy about the breakfast. We welcome suggestions on how we can improve and I would love it if you would email me at or call me at 775-623-6999 to let me know how we can improve it. We will be remodeling all of our rooms this January and at that time, we plan on converting from a hotel with smoking rooms to a non smoking hotel. So I hope you will come back and give us another chance. Once again, thank you for completing the survey and letting us know how we can improve the guest experience.

"Winnemucca Winner"

Nancy Evers K, Los Angeles, California, United States 28/10/2017

When driving between Sun Valley and Northern CA it is hard to find good accommodations to break up the trip. So I was delighted to stay at the Best Western Plus Gold Country in Winnemucca, NV and find it clean, comfortable, convenient, mostly quiet, helpful, friendly and providing a refrigerator, WiFi and breakfast. The receptionists helped me find a near-by restaurant for dinner that served a good grilled salmon.

"Comfortable Stay"

Keith J, Richmond, United States 25/10/2017

We have stayed here numerous times and have always had a favorable experience. It is within walking distance to a number of restaurants, freeways and shopping. It is quiet, the beds are comfortable and the rooms, lobby and parking lot are clean. Would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. In fact we have.

"Nice experience"

LorraineMontana, Bozeman 24/10/2017

Our night in Winnemucca was very pleasant in this hotel. We stayed on the second floor and it was quiet and comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and courteous. The room itself was clean, but the OCD in me did notice that the hallway carpets were caked with dust along the walls where a push-vacuum brush doesn't reach. Not a big deal for most "normal" people, but for clean freaks like me, torment. The urge to find a broom and start sweeping was so compelling that I had to avert my eyes while walking to out room...but that probably says more about me than this very nice hotel!

"Puts the PLUS in Best Western Plus!"

Robert Y, Napa, California 24/10/2017

This was the last night of a two week cross country drive, so were were getting pretty tired. The friendliness and quality of this facility and its staff were just what we needed! Of the 8 or nine motels we stayed in during the trip, this was one of the two best overall, and definitely the very best for value! Best room amenities, too!

"Welcoming place to stay on roadtrip"

SalemShellic, salem 23/10/2017

After a long day of driving the staff at this BW was welcoming and helpful. The room, a 2 queen, was clean and comfortable, no road noise keeping us awake. Breakfast was good for me but my daughter is vegan so very limited selection for the plant based diet. Nut milk and yogurt would be great for the lactose intolerant as well as granola without whey or honey.

"We'll be back!"

SierraCoaster, Grass Valley, California 17/10/2017

Winnemucca is the best place for us to stop for the night, when driving from Salt Lake City to our home in northern California. The Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn is our favorite place to stay in Winnemucca! The rooms are attractive and clean and the free breakfast is unusually good. (Staff turned us on to a tasty and fun, family-style Basque restaurant in town. Be sure to ask them about it.)

"Peasant room"

User 17/10/2017

We stay here if we have to stay. We were on the 2nd floor and was quiet and comfortable. We had double queen bed with a kitchenette. Skip the breakfast bar and head over to The Griddle restaurant a couple blocks down. If you need a pet friendly hotel this is it. They have a few rooms on the bottom floor for you

""Morris Code" or bad plumbing?"

rocketandrews, Kooskia, Idaho 16/10/2017

If you are hard of hearing, or have no problem sleeping through a constant tapping sound coming from the ductwork in the walls, then you will sleep comfortably in this pleasantly furnished hotel room- it was clean, nicely situated room layout, with double sinks for the "water closet" as well as partitioned separately from the toilet, making it convenient for multiple people to get ready while another can be doing their "business". Bath and Body works is always a plus when you stay at a Best Western chain, but if you stay here thinking about a good night's sleep- forget it. For those of us who don't sleep through a constant sound of S.O.S coming through the walls, perhaps you think you might spend your sleepless night mindlessly surfing the internet while you hone your decoding skills- but don't bother, because their internet is so patchy you can't do that either- you will just get more irritated. At least you can look forward to breakfast of powdered eggs, gravy without anything to pour it over, and your standard preprocessed cereal and bakery items found in truck stop hotels for 1/2 the price. The hotel morning staff assured me that they knew of the issues. That was reassuring. Plus side is you will have to check your bill twice because even though you think your reciept states your correct charges, your credit card will be charged an additional $20. (This charge is supposed to be removed.) Room was clean, and the housekeeping was friendly.

Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. Please accept my personal apology on behalf of the hotel that the front desk personnel did not respond appropriately to you issues with the noise that kept you awake. Rest assured that I have passed on this information to our engineering department to make sure that this issue is taken care of immediately. I am confused about the breakfast issues you experienced. Our normal breakfast consists of fresh eclairs, cinnamon rolls, and pastries from a bakery. We also offer scrambled eggs made from real eggs and sausages, as well as waffles with fruit toppings and hot fresh oatmeal as well as the normal breakfast offerings that you find at other Best Westerns. We do not offer gravy of any type. I will speak to the breakfast attendant to see what was going on the morning of your check out to see if there was something unusual going on that I am not aware of. "Pet friendly overnight"

Neill B, Palo Alto 15/10/2017

A hospitable staff, most thoughtful, pet friendly including a sheet cover for the bed for extra pet protection...brilliant! Clean, comfortable bed, amenities good, breakfast complete, great coffee places in Winnemucca if you need or want it. Definitely recommend for people with dogs.

"Crowded Breakfast Food Display"

Rick G, Elk Grove, California, United States 15/10/2017

I enjoy staying at BW Plus hotels often for the price, food, hotel, & room accommodations. However, the lobby appearance at the Winnemucca, Nevada BW Plus is large, spacious, & quite beautiful facing the main street. When breakfast is in full swing, the food display is cornered & extremely crowded with people running into one another. I often indulge with oatmeal in the morning & enjoy cinnamon to flavor. I asked the staff for cinnamon & she did not understand what I was asking for because she did NOT know English.......really?

"Nice place"

Roselyn R, Central Point, Oregon 11/10/2017

We were really surprised and very happy to have found this best western. Winnemucca is not a big town so you won't always find a big well known hotel chain. The hotel is nice, clean and very comfortable.

"Overall pleased. "

Shayla K, Sparks, United States 08/10/2017

The room was nice and comfortable. The fridge and microwave worked well. The beds were comfortable. The rooms was suprsiengly quite for the amount of people. We were not woken up by the noise of other people or doors. Breakfast wad fair. The carpet and curtains were very dirty. We have 2 small children so it was very obvious to us. The staff was helpful and friendly. Overall we were pleased with our stay. We had wished the floor was cleaner but we know it is a hotel and hard with little kids.

"What a find!"

Ermarwen, Scotts Valley, California 06/10/2017

It was a welcome sight after a long drive. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The lobby is quite impressive and spacious. Breakfast is also served in this area. It was right next to a casino but was quiet. We had a room at the end of one wing where one could exit and enter from the side which was quite convenient. Walking distance (behind the hotel) was Ridley's, a supermarket. The suite (for 4 people) was clean, quite spacious and well furnished. It had a mini-fridge as well. The 2nd bedroom was much smaller but it has its own TV which was a welcome sight. The bed was very comfortable and they provided so many toiletries. Breakfast was quite ample and offered a variety. Parking was not a problem at all.

"One of the best BW's."

hook026, Sonora, California 04/10/2017

A fine motel choice in Winnemucca. Ample parking, fast check-in, very professional and courteous. Room was downstairs and area was always quiet, very clean, all items worked but our WiFi...never could get or maintain any connection. Bed was comfortable and large. Dual sinks in bathroom area was a treat for us. Never had chance to partake in breakfast due to our schedule, but the breakfast area was larger than we normally encounter and very clean/orderly. Having stayed in several of the other properties in Winnemucca over the years on other trips, this is easily the best place among them all. We will definitely recommend and return when in the area again.

"Large, clean room"

fmdb2017, Star, Idaho 04/10/2017

Nice comfortable bed. Two sinks in bathroom (one separate from toilet and shower). Only stayed one night, but wouldn't hesitate a longer stay. The parking lot is large and well lit. Staff very friendly. The breakfast was just right for our early departure.

"Quick trip to survey our property"

dentalslave, Cleveland, Tennessee 03/10/2017

We were only in for 2 days, hotel was great, rooms were well kept and clean, staff was super friendly and very accommodating. Parking was easy and well lite, breakfast was pretty good typical of most Best Westerns. Hotel is pet friendly which is great. Only complaint WiFi is really bad unless you are in main check-in area which is nice and a comfy place to sit. Everyone in town was just super friendly. We will totally stay again

"nice place"

sawdust444, sierra foothills CA 03/10/2017

In a town that used to have nothing but dives, this is a welcome change. Clean, large breakfast room , sink outside the bathroom, large flat screen t.v. Around $138 depending on discounts. There are cheaper alternatives but this place is good.

"a good solid choice, deserves the Plus designation from Best Western"

The_Hobes, Los Angeles, United States 01/10/2017

this is a very nice Bet Western. it is exactly what i want when i travel, and has everything that i need. it is what i expect from a Best Western Plus. my room was good-sized and furnished very well, everything you could ask for, giant screen TV, fat WiFi, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, iron & board, hair dryer etc. good work desk and exec chair. VERY comfy bed with clean fresh linen. a little pricey for out in the boondocks, paying Sacramento prices in Winnemucca.....

"Winnemucca Best Western"

1982Forester, Dayton 25/09/2017

We had a nice overnight stay in Winnemucca. My only concern was cost as it was more expensive than others we stayed during our road trip. The ovenight lodging options are very limited in this small town.

"1st time stay at the Winnemucca Best Western"

Wilfred H, Eugene, Oregon, United States 24/09/2017

Overall a very pleasant stay at this Best Western. The Breakfast was great. Also having coffee and cookies available to snack on in the lobby was a nice touch. Our biggest complaint was the clicking/dripping noise coming from the attic into our room which was annoying. Secondly the carpet had some kind of grit in it so when you walk around in your bare feet it stuck to your feet and was uncomfortable to walk on because it didn't feel clean. Aside from that, it's a nice hotel that is located close to a lot of places to eat which is really handy if your from out of town and don't know the area.

362eunicel, United States 24/09/2017

Great place to stay; however, every attempt should be made to reserve a room prior to stay. Was appalled to find porno channels on the TV! It seems to me they should be blocked from even listing. Other than that, yes, I would stay at the facility again.

"Consistent Quality"

Jeff H, boise, United States 23/09/2017

I have stayed here regularly over the past 5 years and I travel a lot around the USA on business and Gold Country is consistently a great value. Rooms are clean and neat, breakfast is fresh and well attended. The internet is good quality and FREE...I am tired of paying for internet that is10% of the room price.

"good hotel"

Chris C, Boise, Idaho 21/09/2017

THEY HAVE WHOLE MILK FOR BREAKFAST! I cant tell you how happy this made me!!! The staff were really friendly and helpful. wish the Gym was attached to the Hotel but it's a nice alternative. Also wish there was a pool.

hcm723, Oregon 18/09/2017

Good location, easy to get to when on a road trip. Can park and walk to several options for food and even a couple of casinos. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet, with comfortable beds and friendly staff.

"Okay not great"

triptaker1745, Concord, California 14/09/2017

Five stars for the front desk staff. Room was clean which is most important but general maintenance could use some help. Upholstery on chair had a very obvious hole, hallways needed to be vacuumed. And went for a walk and noticed one of the screens on bedroom window was partly pulled off

"Good experience overall"

Brits at Home, El Dorado Hills, California 12/09/2017

Hole in carpet and one armchair let down the room experience. Otherwise a nice one night stay at end of long road trip. Close to a favorite restaurant, PIG BBQ, just down the block. Hotel is one of the nicest ones in Winnemucca.

"Best Western Plus in Winnemucca"

User 12/09/2017

Beautiful lobby. The staff was very helpful. They showed us how to work the very strange bathtub drain and TV remote. My wife and I consider ourselves tech savvy, but the TV remote was a mess. Powering the TV on and off was very difficult to figure out. Simple written directions in the room would have solved our problem. The woman at the front desk said that they were NOT ALLOWED to post such directions.

"The Best"

User 11/09/2017

Very clean and great staff. We were on our way to Lake Tahoe and this was one of the few locations in Nevada were we wanted to spend the night. Thanks to Noemi at the front desk for her wonderful service.

"Very pleasant reasonably priced hotel"

LincolnshireAandE, Lincolnshire 10/09/2017

Coming from the UK on a tour of US National Parks , Winnemucca was just a stopping off point/staging post and the initial impression driving in to town was less than impressive frankly so we were delighted to find that the hotel was excellent and the town centre much better.

"Stay Here"

Sawyer9813, Tucson, Arizona 07/09/2017

Just a one night stay. What a surprise. A very large King room. More like extended stay. Full size fridge/freezer, mic, stove, dish washer, and basic utensils. Room was very large and we could comfortably stayed for several days. Breakfast table with 4 chairs, king bed, love seat, easy chair, and desk. Our room and all areas of the hotel were clean and well maintained. Friendly front desk staff. Breakfast area was of a nice size with the usual hot breakfast items. Parking was adequate and this hotel is very close to several restaurants as well as interstate access. Highly recommended. I can't imagine there is a nicer room or hotel in this small city.

"Pet Friendly"

Jeannie D, Boise, United States 07/09/2017

If traveling without a pet, make sure you request a NON pet friendly room! I was traveling with an asthmatic child allergic to cats and dogs. I was unaware that because I don't travel with a pet that I could possibly get a stinky, chemical filled room.

"Probably the best in town"

Kimberly P, Sandpoint, Idaho 06/09/2017

Winnemucca is a stop for us on our way to California. This is not a destination town unless your here to gamble. The Best Western is a decent hotel in the middle of town. The breakfast is OK, but nothing special. We have stayed in other hotels in town, and this is the best.

"Poor Hotel"

8georginas, Canada 31/08/2017

The hotel staff were very unprofessional upon arrival and on the phone for booking. The hallways were very dusty and not very clean. The hotel room door was left wide open with the T.V on when we arrived. The staff did not advise us about the pool and amenities. When they did after walking 3 times to the pool area they advised us the key didn't work and there was a latch. There wasn't a latch but a very difficult button to try to reach. Other hotel guests were having the same difficulty. When we told the front desk the staff said it was all the same. During breakfast which is bu the front desk a staff member was loud and you could hear her tell the potential customer on the telephone, very rudely, that it wasn't her job to know about a location of something. She put her on hold and then called to another staff in the breakfast room, where other guests were, about the client on the phone. It is just unprofessional. I would not stay here again and would look for another location.

We have been on vacation and try to mainly stay in Best Western motels. The shower needs some work on it otherwise the breakfast was very good and the coffee was very good. Staff was kind and helpful to us.

"Service excellent, rooms comfortable"

Paul C, From WA in UT 30/08/2017

We passed through Winnemucca twice -Once in July on the way to the Oregon coast and again in August on our way home to St George, UT. Front desk service was excellent and well-informed about the area. Nice lobby. Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Wifi was good. Breakfast was very good in the lobby.

Sandra C, Carpinteria, United States 30/08/2017

Most hotels have very noisy air conditioning units where your choices are to be awakened when the air conditioner kicks in, or leave the fan running all night, but you still may hear the compressor kick in. Either way, it is NOISY! This one is just right - not under the window where the curtains get in the way, and it IS VERY QUIET!

"Hotel not to be missed in Winnemucca, NV"

jeanmE6600YS, San Francisco Bay Area, United States 29/08/2017

This Best Western Plus Hotel in Winnemucca has just claimed the permanent spot for where we'll stay when spending the night in this community. Its lobby feels like a resort lobby. Its rooms are clean and comfortable. It is quiet. The staff is wonderfully attentive. The breakfast ranks as the best I've had in a hotel - so many options, so fresh and delicious, and so clean and timely. The staff recommended a variety of restaurants for our dining pleasure that were in easy walking distance of the hotel.

"awesome customer service!!!! shayla, naomi, daisy, sara and roberta"

JaneWilliamz1963, San Francisco, California 24/08/2017

The customer service in this hotel is phenominal. Every single person that helped me from the afternoon until morning was such a great help. Shayla (?) was awesome to get me in early before check-in time. Naomi and Daisy were great help to find great restaurant. They recommended the Winnemucca inn and the martin hotel. Also when I couldn't figure out how to work the television they sent down James who taught me exactly what to do on the remote. Sara was very nice early in the morning and helped us with directions and where a gas station was. Thank you all for a great experience!!

"Keep on going"

Lawrence C, Nampa, United States 23/08/2017

This hotel desperately needs a remodel. The beds / pillows are horrible and everything is steeped in smoke. The cleanliness of the room was below average - we put shoes on to go to the bathroom from the bed. Keep on going to Reno if you have a choice.

"Nice stay"

Wmacetheace, California 21/08/2017

Booked queen room, check in was easy. Comfortable stay. Bed was comfortable, flat screen tv, microwave and refrigerator. Complementary breakfast was standard and came fully stocked. All staff were very friendly. Outdoor pool just a short walk through parking lot. Would stay here again.

"The place to stay"

RayCalifornia, California 19/08/2017

Right from the beginning the stay could not have been better. We arrived early and the reception desk staff went above and beyond the call of duty to locate a ready room on the ground floor. Breakfast was excellent as was the departure. We will definitely be going back.

"I can see why its number 1 in town"

hotelman29, los angeles 18/08/2017

Just passing through, went to two other hotels, sold out, rodeo in town. I got their last room, kitchenette, still a great bargain. The room was clean, large and the staff was personable. Super comfortable bed. The breakfast in the morning was much larger than expected and had staff available for any questions and cleaning of the station. The front desk agent in the morning wanted to hear about my trip and had some great suggestions about the next time I visit. I had some luck at the casino directly next door, which made the stay free. Even better!

"Convenient stop "

Emilie G, Greensboro, North Carolina 16/08/2017

Passing through area; nice find off highway. Felt secure. Comfortable beds, hot shower. Breakfast fine, complimentary, served in sunny lobby with plenty of seating. Pleasant professional staff and quick registration process

"Delightfully positive experience"

P6482JRjims, san francisco, United States 15/08/2017

Clean, courteous, modern. Everything works as expected. The front lobby (where breakfast is also served) is impressive with a two story high glass wall. Restaurants within walking distance. The small town of Winnemucca was a refreshing respite from big city bustle.

"Very Nice Stop"

origsnoopy1, Redding, California 14/08/2017

It was a very clean, nice room on the second floor. It proved to be a quiet location. Registration was fast and efficient and the staff very friendly. The motel is ADA & has an elevator close to the front door.. Parking is adequate. There are a variety of restaurants close by. They have what I call a standard breakfast available-eggs, a meat, waffles, etc. very good for the price.

"A Nice Place to Stay in Winnemucca"

Q6309MUvalerieb, Sacramento, United States 13/08/2017

This is our preferred motel in Winnemucca. The rooms are exceptionally spacious, clean and quiet. The breakfast offerings are complete with hot eggs and sausage. And they are very accommodating to travelers with dogs. We recommend it!

"Get together with friends"

G6093BJroberta, Redding, CA, United States 12/08/2017

My wife and myself were very pleased with this hotel. Of course we always like to stay at a Best Western because we already know the qualities. The hotel staff is always attentive and the room are clean.

"Excellent Hotel in the middle of nowhere"

CoupleOfNuts2, Fruit Heights, Utah 08/08/2017

We made this our halfway stop on the way back from an Ironman race in Santa Rosa, Callifornia. Winnemucca is pretty much halfway between San Francisco and Slat Lake City, so the majority of travelers are just passing through, just as we were. The hotel is a gem, and compares very favorably to the St George Abbey Inn, which for us has been the best of the best of all the Best Westerns we've stayed in. The rooms here are large and roomy, the location is quiet, the beds are very comfy, and there are some great food options nearby (Sid's for dinner, the Griddle for breakfast). We would stay here again in a heartbeat if we pass this way again.

"Best stop between San Francisco & Yellowstone NP"

Fletch_lives22, San Diego, California 08/08/2017

Unexpectedly one of the best Best Westerns I have stayed at. Very well laid out and very comfortable. The concierge was very friendly and even lowered the room price as I hadn't selected the cheaper option when booking. There is plenty of food around the hotel all within walking distance. Overall a great stay!

"Pleasant Stay Except for AC Problems"

372luraf, Rancho Cordova, United States 08/08/2017

I'll start by saying I would ABSOLUTELY stay at this hotel again. It was very clean, quiet (in spite of lots of children during my stay), nicely appointed, very comfortable bed and had a very, very good staff. However, despite the fact they were working on it, the AC was not adequate. I'd read reviews prior to my stay and many mentioned problems with the AC. ATTN CORPORATE: This property would be PERFECT if you'd OVERHAUL THE HVAC. (Side note: Only rating sleep quality as "very good" because I have chronic sleep issues, so sleep quality is relative. However, I got MUCH more sleep than I do at home and I did find the bed comfortable.)

"Comfortable and Classy"

Kristi A, Brookings, Oregon 07/08/2017

Hotel exceeded our expectations! Spotless rooms, comfortable beds, nice furnishings, and large rooms. Breakfast included a wide variety of items. Hot tub is huge, pool fun! Overall wonderful experience!

"Excellent Hotel"

User 07/08/2017

very impressed with hotel and staff, after a long motorcycle ride, arriving at the hotel, the staff was very welcoming and attentive. We were very happy with the overall experience, Breakfast was good. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

"Always a great place to stay!"

Kc C, Roseville 01/08/2017

This hotel is top-notch, from the condition and quality of the room and customer service, to the array of breakfast items. We requested a certain location of a room, (away from ice maker and elevator) and they accommodated our request - which has not happened with other hotel chains. Makes us very happy travelers!

"Excellent choice to stay"

T7314RTstevem, Folsom, United States 31/07/2017

Great room and dog friendly as well. The staff recognized and acknowledged my Best Western status as soon as I gave them my name and thanked for me being a loyal rewards member. The entire front desk staff is awesome, courteous and very friendly. The rooms are clean, well set up and they even have extra sheets for the dogs to sleep on. I have stayed here more than once and will continue to do as I travel through this area again. It is a great choice to stay at and you will not be disappointed.

"Family vaca stop"

Jamie I, Pattonsburg, Missouri 30/07/2017

Very pretty hotel, nice view, loved the Hawaiian hazelnut coffee, pool was nice, beds were a little stiff, need more pillows, would recommend and stay again, loved the chocolate peanut butter cupcake upon arrival!!!

"Last minute booking last good room in town"

dcan85, Arkadelphia, Arkansas 27/07/2017

My husband and I traveled through on our way home from a wedding and we did not book a hotel in advance as we were unsure of where we would be stopping. All of the other hotels we called were booked up because there were several firefighters on their way to California. We were lucky to get the last room available in the Best Western which was a kitchenette suite. It was clean and comfortable although the decor was a little outdated and the hallway had a somewhat unpleasant odor. The staff at the front desk were not rude but not overly friendly either. The price was high but that was partially our fault for not planning in advance. The hotel is a decent choice if you're in a pinch.

"A Gem"

T5137LGdebbiem, Rohnert Park 27/07/2017

This is a lovely hotel with lots of amenities and charm. They go out of their way to make your stay very comfortable. It is in a city with not much around, s it is a very welcome site when we get there.

"Passing through"

gary w, Mammoth Lakes, California 25/07/2017

OK, lets be honest, if you're spending the night in Winnemucca you're either on the road and passing through, have something to do with the RR or construction or are a rodeo cowboy. For me, I'm on a Harley and just passing through. This is a new and nice BW. The lobby is well appointed and the rooms are new, not beat up and well maintained. It is a comfortable house with a number of close by restaurants and stores. Convenient to Interstate 80 I have to believe it is one of the best, if not the best, place to put your head down in Winnemucca. But I was most impressed by the front desk staff. Polite, friendly, professional my check in lady on the afternoon of July 24 anticipated the little extras that the road warrior standing in front of her after a 300 mile ride would need and enjoy. If for some reason I found myself in the same situation again, i would definitely come back.

"Very nice hotel close to restaurants and casinos"

Beaverton Duck, Beaverton, OR 24/07/2017

We stayed here on the last night of a week-long road trip. The hotel was very nice and we had a large, clean room on the first floor. We were traveling with our dog and they left two extra clean sheets in the room so we could cover the bedspread and have her sit with us. The front desk staff were pleasant and the breakfast staff were friendly and kept bring out new food so they didn't run out of items. Because there were inside halls, we heard a little bit of noise but it was still relatively quiet. Would easily stay here again and we enjoyed dinner at the Pig BBQ one block away. Also took a nice walk downtown in the evening from the hotel.

"Bright spot at the end of the day!"

User 24/07/2017

It was triple digit degrees when we hit Winnemucca and checked into Best Western. Was very pleased to find a very large and clean room. One issue was that a fire had come through and burned the phone towers so there wasn't any WIFI in the whole town. Also breakfast was very tasty but the layout wasn't very efficient. Several people were standing around waiting for breakfast items. Otherwise will definitely stay again!

"Great room"

Debbie M, Thunder Bay, Canada 20/07/2017

I had a very spacious and lovely room. It was quiet and clean = my only issue was with the television, I lost the signal when ever I turned it off not much fun when you are watching a sporting event, The staff tried to help but the problem kept happening otherwise the stay was excellent,

"A Quick Overnight Stay"

User 18/07/2017

I've stayed here more than once and this property has always been clean. The staff has always been friendly and the rooms comfortable. Centrally located with easy on/off freeway access. The continental breakfast is the standard fair.

"The best place to stay in Winnemucca"

Dave H, Woodland, United States 15/07/2017

All the staff are very warm, friendly and very professional. Sarah, Shaela, Noami and Daizy will make sure your stay is comfortable and relaxing when you check in and in the AM you are greeted with a warm smile from Roberta and Debbie and a great breakfast. What better way to start your day.

"Beautiful Clean Rooms, Must Stay Here!"

User 14/07/2017

I am very picky when it comes to hotels. On a 2 week road trip and this was the greatest. This has to be the nicest in Winnemucca. Beautiful lobby, friendly staff, nicely decorated rooms, quiet, loved the soft water, bath a body works soaps as well as bath salts. Most hotels don't provide enough towels but this hotel provided many. Great hotel and the price was perfect.

"great place to stay"

Teresa B, Reno, Nevada 14/07/2017

The hotel is centrally located to Winnemucca. The staff is friendly and the rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The was the second time we stayed and the first time with our pets. The "pet friendly" room gave us immediate access to the outside and was very clean, which is not always the case with other hotel chains.

"Great stop"

User 10/07/2017

The staff was friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was very good with eggs, sausages, waffles and various pastries offered. The eggs did not taste like they were from a package.

"Excellant stay at the Best Western Motel. This place was in first place over other best westerns we stayed at."

User 10/07/2017

This place was indeed a good hotel and it was very quiet leading towards a good night sleep. Thank you for the fine service and support from the desk staff to the room service. I felt it was like home to stay in this Best Western Motel.

"Perfect for What we Needed"

User 09/07/2017

Stopped here on our way to Yellowstone for the night. Not much in Winnemucca, but this served its purpose well. The room felt a little grimy with my daughter's feet getting dirty within minutes of being barefoot on the carpet. However, we just put our flip flops on whenever not in bed or shower. The a/c worked very well. Our toilet handle kept slipping off and that was a hassle but for one night we dealt with it. The breakfast the next morning was quite nice for a small continental in the lobby. That alone saved us the cost of an additional meal on the road trip. Pleasantly surprised overall.

"Good over night stay"

Mark C, Boston, Massachusetts 08/07/2017

It's everything that you need for an overnight stay next to the interstate. Clean, comfortable, friendly, and quiet, with a decent free breakfast on top. Not the cheapest place in town, but worth the extra few dollars.

"Overnight in Winnemucca"

OkieinIdaho, Garden City 08/07/2017

Fine hotel with friendly staff. Could use more updating. Free breakfast. Clean. Non-smoking rooms available. Good place to stay over in Winnemucca. Apparently this review has to be 200 words or I cannot post. Hopefully I have reached this limit.

"Excellent quality, very clean, a bit pricy"

quentk2017, Omaha, United States 06/07/2017

My wife and I stayed here one night on our way from Omaha to California. The hotel was fine, clean, AC worked well, allowed us to choose the temp, room had a microwave and a refrigerator. When we travel, we prefer to eat in the room, not spend time in restaurant of get fast food, so we can eat healthy. Room was $161 with tax, a bit pricy for the location in the middle of Nevada. But, unless one wants to pick a different city, It's what's available.

"Best Western - Winnemucca, Nevada"

William C, Alburquerque, United States 05/07/2017

This location consistently provides outstanding service prior to, and during, stays; the hotel team is well-organized to accommodate and respect lodgers, and has always represented this hotel chain admirably. Our groups have stayed at this Winnemucca location on numerous visits to northern Nevada, and will continue to do so on future trips.

"Stay in Winnemucca NV."

Russ M, Yuba City, California 05/07/2017

This is the location and the hotel that we choose to stay when traveling for business. I design, build and deliver custon one of a kind furniture and we have stayed at Gold Country Inn several times over the past few years. We always find it to be comfortable, quiet and relaxing after a long day of driving.

"Great hotel!"

Jennifer B, San Jose, California 04/07/2017

This was our second visit to the Best Western in Winnemucca. The rooms are big and comfortable. When we arrived the shower was leaking. We called the front desk and Todd, the maintanence guy, came and fixed it immediately. He was so nice and helpful! We enjoyed the outdoor pool. Someone left their wallet on the chair next to us. Just when we were wondering what to do with it, Todd came out and got it because the owner had called looking for it. The breakfast is great. They have the regular continental breakfast plus hot food like eggs, sausage and waffles. My youngest son was so excited to see that the waffle iron actually had the Best Western logo like the commercials! We were most thrilled with the elevator because they didn't have one on our last visit. We will definitely stay there again!

"Clean, quiet room."

folsomrose, Folsom, California 30/06/2017

Although we could see a major street through our window, our room was quiet. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. The room was well equipped with a nice refrigerator, microwave, ample towels and toiletries. There was a nice large eating area for breakfast and a good selection of food. All the employees were helpful and courteous. We will be back!

"Best hotel!"

Jane M, Fayetteville, Georgia 28/06/2017

This hotel was the best ! Delicious, fancy mini cupcakes at check in, perfect room with a sink in the room with the tub, and another sink and vanity outside of the tub room(great setup for 2 people getting ready at the same time),and the casino across the parking lot had delicious pasta, The breakfast was a cut above other hotel breakfasts. The sausage, eggs, and pastries were actually GOOD! Helpful, friendly staff, too.

"Nice clean stay in a friendly town"

This Best Western is a half way point between the SF Bay Area and Salt Lake City. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are always clean when we stay there. All the room entrances are indoors and the complimentary breakfast is very good for a free breakfast. Lots of things to choose from both hot and cold. We have stayed here in the winter and in the summer and the room temp is easily adjustable.

"What a great find!"

User 26/06/2017

We have driven through Winnemucca at least 50 times and we usually just press on because the motel options are so awful. This place was clean and well appointed--Bath and Body Works toiletries, a fridge, nice finishes. The lobby is updated and the site of a very nice free breakfast. We had a corner room which was huge. You can walk to The Pig for good BBQ and any of the three close by casinos. Sarah, who works the overnights, was very nice and lent us a corkscrew. Worth the stop.

"Great Service"

Kathryn T, Salinas, California 26/06/2017

Thus us a really nice motel and the staff are so helpful. We will definitely stay here again. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and the coffee was worth taking on the road!

"Golf Trip"

Keith L, Crescent Valley, United States 23/06/2017

The hotel reservation process was easy and staff was helpful. The new lobby looks great and location is perfect. We had another great stay, just wished I played better golf. Not sure that was your fault though.

"A nice comfortable hotel while on the road"

DR_RocketScientist, DC 21/06/2017

Best Western Gold Country Winnemucca We have stayed here four times on our annual trip from Colorado to and through the Northwest. I hesitated to write a review prior to this visit because they were installing an elevator last year, the absence of which would have docked them a bit. Unfortunately, we did not get our requested room 205, which is a corner room with a nice view of the mountains. We did get a room around the corner, 204, which was just as nice, and was an indoor corner room, so had only one neighbor. This is a large room with a king sized bed. The pillows are very large, but unfortunately very hard. It wasn't until we were getting ready to check out that I discovered soft pillows in the closet, so no points lost. The room we had was very quiet, in spite of facing the Main Street in town. There is a love seat, comfy chair and decent dresser, as well as mini-fridge and microwave. The TV is quite large, somewhere around 45", and comes with free HBO, and a ton of channels. The shower has a variable head with settings from hard stream to soft to massage. A shower mat is supplied, and please use it, otherwise the tub is quite slippery. This may be in part because the water is incredibly soft. There are a couple of cosmetic issues in the bathroom but otherwise the room is perfect. When we took the room the AC was going full blast, and when we came back from dinner the air temperature was 82F. The outside temperature was near one hundred F. We discovered that the curtains were blocking the air return to the AC, so we just used a suitcase to hold them back. Still, the air temperature didn't hit its target until about 7AM. The Internet was spotty, and strangely nonexistent in the lobby. We don't recall this from prior visits. Speaking of the lobby, it is beautiful. There is a lovely water feature behind the desk, and a large TV on the wall. There is ample seating for breakfast. Breakfast is quite diverse. There is cereal, oatmeal, fresh waffles, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and turkey sausage, pastries, Jimmy Dean sausage and cheese sandwich, some fresh fruit, quite a variety of coffees and teas Apparently there is an outdoor pool, but we did not see it so cannot comment. Back to the elevator. This was a needed addition, since the last three visits we had to schlep out considerable baggage up the stairs and down the hall to our rooms. The only negative thing I can really say about the whole hotel is that the elevator floor needed cleaning, and that even only about a year old, it looks like the elevator took a bit of a beating. There is a grocery store across the quiet street, along with a Chinese restaurant (closed on Mondays, shock of all shocks), which is about average, and a halfway decent BBQ place. There are other restaurants within a short walking distance, as well as casinos, if one is so inclined. I recommend this hotel to just about anyone. The staff is friendly and efficient, the breakfast hours are generous, six to ten AM. And it is convenient to the interstate and to other side roads.

"The BEST in Winnemucca"

Karen and Paul P, Alamo, California 21/06/2017

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the entire place was well maintained. The staff was courteous and helpful. We have stayed at a couple of other places in Winnemucca, but this was the best, and we will definitely stay there from now on when we pass through.

"Pleasant visit"

789hilaryb, Atascadero, California 19/06/2017

Clean and safe feeling. Tiny walk to the electronic casino next door. The bed was the best, very comfy!! Staff was friendly, pool was clean. Plenty of mountain biking very nearby. Plenty of great places to eat outside of the casinos.

"Nice property"

HikerDave2, Los Angeles 19/06/2017

Good location in the northern part of Nevada. Enjoyed our stay here; no surprises. Excellent breakfast service, with quality products. Easy location for our next day trip up to Tahoe. Staff was helpful in our search for a local grocery store.

"Lots of comfort for a great price!"

lisatD3496JC, Bigfork, United States 18/06/2017

The entire property, from parking lot to our room & breakfast area, was comfortable and clean with all of the "necessary" amenities and then some. Stylish, comfortable, feel-good decor, 2 sinks in the room, micro & fridge, great mattresses & pillows, padded carpeting (that felt good after a long drive), small sitting area & substantial business chair (for those of use who can use more support than the edge of the bed provides), etc. It was just what we needed to get refueled for the next leg of our trip. (We did not use the pool, so we don't have any feedback in regard to that..)

judithmR3269KH, Salinas, California 12/06/2017

Friendly staff, treated upon arrival with no waiting. The room was very clean and large and included large microwave and refrigerator. Very quite and ample breakfast. Plan on staying on my return trip.

after 8 days in motels across 4 states we were very pleasantly surprised at the very nice quality of this room & beds were awesome and breakfast was good. Beautifully comfortable large room. Thank you we needed that--- Our first Best Western but we will be glad to choose another again...

"Great hotel"

644tanyaf, Union, Oregon 29/05/2017

The rooms were clean and roomy. Love the fact there was 2 sinks with mirrors in our room. The lobby and breakfast area was also roomy a homey feeling. The pool was a little walk across the parking lot but nice when you got there. Liked the fact it was walking distance to the closest casino.

"Great stopping off and half way point on the way to Salt Lake City"

B2861IIroberts, Manteca, California 27/05/2017

Checked in by a smiling young lady at the front desk. Hotel is half way to Salt Lake City which was our next stop on the way to the Denver area. Room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was very good. Will stay certainly stay here again on future trips east.

"Very good"

User 18/05/2017

We got a room very easy, we have 2 small dogs, the pet area was real convienant. Debbie was the front desk person, who checked us in, she was so nice. Breakfast was very good had all the trimmings. Large room and very clean. We have stayed here before, and will again.

"A terrific Best Western"

L A, Manteca, California 10/05/2017

The Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn in Winnemucca, Nevada is quite simply one of the best Best Westerns we have stayed at anywhere. The lobby, where they also serve the included in room price breakfast, is spacious and attractive with floor to ceiling windows, a gas fireplace and a big screen t.v. above it. The rooms are nicely decorated, very clean and the beds are comfortable. A big plus for me is that the windows open. I always sleep better when I can have fresh air so I try to avoid staying in hotels that have hermetically sealed rooms! Also, after seeing the other hotel/motel options in Winnemucca, this Best Western is definitely the best hotel in town.

"My Tired Day of Moving to CA"

885lindae, Bedford WY 07/05/2017

This hotel is my go-to hotel when passing through. I always can count on it being clean, nicely appointed, having a good breakfast, and pleasant staff at the front desk. I have always, without exception, arrived late at night, and totally exhausted. Sometimes I have reservations, sometimes not. Once I arrived late, without reservations in the dead of winter in a snowstorm, and the clerk insisted I have nice pet room for my dog and provided that at no extra charge. The rooms are very nice and the beds are like the expensive ones I have at home-totally comfortable.I have arthritis and don't sleep well. A good bed helps. This is probably the best hotel in Winnemucca.

"This is the BEST Western?"

kfunk2017, Boise, Idaho 04/05/2017

I was surprised that this motel is top rated by travelers. The room temperature upon arrival was around 77 degrees. A little too warm for us. I asked front desk if there was problem with our rooms, but after maintenance looked into it it was issue with hotel. There was no AC that night and slept with window open listening to street traffic most of the night. Upon checkout I was not asked how my stay was, but I had to ask for discount due to warm rooms. The manager gave me $25 per room discount. I asked if AC would be working next week, manager couldn't confirm. She made excuse that motel had new maintenance men and season change and wasn't apologetic about my experience. Additional items of complaint: tub drain drained slowly in bathroom, hallway carpets were filthy as my toddlers feet were filthy black colored, and general maintenance seemed to be lacking in motel overall. Proper management of this property I think is lacking based on my experience. I can't compare to other motels in Winnemucca, but I can't go back to this one with my family.

cruzintm, Victoria, Canada 30/04/2017

This a a first class hotel In the desert. The rooms are very well laid out and well appointed . The staff are friendly and polite. If I ever came back this way I would make a point of staying here. Room is amazing, the price is worth it.

"Great Place To Stay"

Michele J, Omaha, United States 28/04/2017

My night stay was a great place to rest up before my next drive of the day. It was Easter Sunday and even the check-out clerk was proclaiming the special day. Very restful, clean and comfortable. I would stay here again, should I stop in Winnemucca.

"Great place to stay!"

Best Western Plus is a great hotel! They have really improved over the Best Western motels. Great breakfast! Clean rooms! Comfortable beds! Fast check-in and check-out. Friendly service! I recommend this hotel.

"A great stay in a great Nevada town"

179steveno, Boise, United States 25/04/2017

I am excited to report that my stay at the Gold Country Inn Best Western Plus in Winnemmucca was wonderful. Great Staff, Great Rooms, and a great price to boot! Debbie, who checked me in, was extremely helpful and saved me money in the process by utilizing a military discount. Great Job, and thanks, Debbie!

"Non-existent WiFi, room too warm"

Ms_Martha, California 24/04/2017

Winnemucca is a place where most people stop as part of a long journey. The lobby at this hotel is welcoming. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was adequate but not amazing Two complaints. The Wi-Fi was essentially non-existent in our room and the air conditioning didn't bring the temperature down, even though it was on full force (and this was in April, not July). Unfortunately, these are two things that I really need in a hotel room.

Y8187QSheidih, Elk Grove, California 23/04/2017

Room was extremely clean and the staff and fellow guests were very friendly! The ice machine worked as well as everything in the room. We were given bath and body works shampoo and lotion and was even given bath salts for a nice relaxing soak. The only downside was the location, Winnemucca has so many bugs outside that I had to clean my windshield twice but it was covered just as quickly.

"I Recommend this Hotel!"

UnBuenTipo, Pdx, OR 23/04/2017

Nicely remodeled hotel, very comfortable and all the amenities I needed for a business trip. Hot breakfast was good, the place is super clean and the wi fi was decent enough. With Best Western Plus, the company seems to recognize finally what a modern hotel is and what business travellers need.

"Couples trip"

joepN9196PX, Tacoma, Washington 07/04/2017

We checked in late after a long drive and when checking in I wasn't offered a discount due to I'm a long standing member and chose to stay here than the other ones cause I always have a great experience but not this time

"Find another option"

anne g, Redmond, Oregon 06/04/2017

Sometimes saving a few bucks is not worth it. Older hotel with low ceilings and worn beds. First room they offered us was musty smelling and we asked for a change. Second room was a bit better. Room A/C was good and quiet... towels were absorbent and staff were attentive and nice.... but....

"Clean quiet up to date room for road trip stop"

artthiel, Pasco, Washington 27/11/2016

Last minute road trip changes lead us to spend the night here. Even though arriving ~0200 all was ready for us and the night desk was cheerful, fast, and helpful. Lots of choices at the welcome breakfast buffet. Our room on the first floor was quiet and clean and spacious.

"Great Breakfast and Stay for the Budget Traveler"

webcam13, Seattle 20/11/2016

PROS: 1. Excellent breakfast included : scrambled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, sausage biscuits you could heat up, donuts, sausage, toast, waffle iron, fruit, Ok coffee, bagels, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. 2. Comfy bed, pillows with tons of towels. Room also had a microwave, hair dryer, coffee pot, 2 sinks, lots of tv channels and fridge. 3. CLEAN and quiet. (even though we faced the street ) 4. Wonderful staff that were helpful when we switched rooms. ...due to our mixup. (We didn't understand the layout of the 2 bedroom suite in which you had to go through the main bedroom in order to get to the bathroom....the suite was not a good option for 2 couples but would probably work well for a family used to sharing space. 5. Delicious cupcakes available at our early check in. Cons: 1. Even though this hotel is soooo walking distance close to the casino - restaurant, I would highly recommend that you do NOT eat at the casino unless you are in dire straights for an extremely average food option :) (We were extremely "road tired" and opted for walking the 600 feet to the casino....and this was the only negative thing about our Winnemucca stay!)

"Wonderful place to stay"

douglasgibsonjr, Sacramento, California 14/11/2016

The outside of the hotel is very nice and the lobby is very comfy with a fireplace. The room we had was very nice. We had two queen sized bed. We had our two dogs with us and they were very accommodating. They had special rooms set aside for pet rooms and they are all on the ground floor. In addition, we were close to the outside exit door. The staff was great and there were even cupcakes when we checked in. The breakfast was excellent with eggs, sausage, waffles, pastries, toast, bagels, juice, mile etc.

donrozee, Concord, California 10/11/2016

The Staff was excellent , friendly and, friendly and helpful. they advised of places to eat , the gym. They even had cupcakes out for checkin. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The General manager was helpful, and accessible . The breakfast was great and the lady who stocks the breakfast items was very nice also. staying there was like meeting with old friends. We stayed there on the way to yellowstone and on our home word bound trip also. Great hotel and staff.

Sherri N, Seattle, Washington 08/11/2016

We were very tired after a long day on the road. Thank goodness we pushed the extra distance and made it to Winnemucca. This Best Western is top notch. The room was large and clean, the bed was comfortable, and there was quite a variety of breakfast choices in the morning.

"Stayed twice - Nov 2016"

Peter9393, Otago Region, New Zealand 07/11/2016

I stayed for business for three nights then returned for another night. Warm and comfortable with spacious rooms. Two king sized beds and kitchenette. Very clean and friendly helpful staff. Breakfast is served in the lobby and includes warm porridge, self made waffles, cereals, yoghurt, doughnuts and fruits. Also, muffins etc available.

"Nice hotel "

Linda g, Llandudno, United Kingdom 06/11/2016

Very nice hotel . At least our second visit . Looks good from outside .Very clean and modern . Room was most comfortable and staff pleasant . Went to the nearest restaurant which is at the Casino next door . Even in the furthest corner you could smell cigarette smoke. Made a note not to go there again . We don't do hotel breakfasts but did find a very nice restaurant down the road called the Copper Kettle which was nice. We enjoyed our visit and will return one day and can recommend .

"Traveling with a pet on Interstate 80"

ddt960, Atherton, California 30/10/2016

If you have to travel from West Coast to Midwest (or vice versa) on Interstate 80 with a pet, consider the Best Western Chain. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, good locations. For example, we stayed in Newton IA, Cheyenne WY and Winnemuccha NV Best Western Hotels. The staffs in all locations very friendly. Rooms were excellent as were amenities. And close location to freeway. We have done trip twice now and Best Western ranks way above competitive offerings in terms of clean and comfortable rooms, great value and friendly reception of staff. Highly recommend the Best Western Chain along interstate 80!

"1 night stay"

hammybopbop, Los Angeles, California 26/10/2016

No working elevator, Not enough rooms on ground level for people with allergies to pets. Pets allowed but poor planning for downstairs rooms with people with post surgery knee replacements. Breakfast OK but other Best Westerns are far superior to this one. Not the quality expected from Best Western Plus!!!

"Quiet, comfortable, standard"

Connie T, San Jose, California 26/10/2016

We found the elevator was being installed and inoperable. The desk was efficient and welcoming. The room was roomy and well appointed albeit the decor was eclectic and dated. Everything worked well I including the AC which was reasonably quiet f and able to keep the room cool. Breakfast was in the very large high ceiling lobby with a wall of Windows. The Buffett was set out on granite counters especially fitted to the corner of the lobby. It was refreshing and pleasant compared to the dingy low ceiling rooms usually assigned to be the breakfast room. I do not recall much about the bed but I enjoyed a thoroughly quiet and deep sleep. Very ordinary type facility but it works, with the sad exception of the elevator. When passing through Winnemucca this is my go to place, clean, comfortable and quiet.

"A midway stop to relax!"

4Smokey, Rocklin, California 25/10/2016

We travel between the Salt Lake, Utah, area and Sacramento, CA., and no longer make the very long drive in one day, so layover in Winnemucca or Elko at the Best Western hotels. Always a good rest, clean, friendly staff and a good breakfast before getting back on I-80 again.

"Great service"

Mindgrowz, California, USA 13/10/2016

Clean room with nice amenities. Friendly, timely service. Breakfast is adequate and fully supplied. The fridge is in a casing so the noise is minimal. Wifi was adequate. Called same day of need and they booked me right in without any price penalty like some places do. They made sure I got my AAA discount. They also kept my information from a previous stay so booking was almost instant.

"Great nights sleep."

2inArrowhead, Lake Arrowhead, California 12/10/2016

This hotel is convenient and comfortable. The elevator is under renovation so we asked for a first floor room and it was spacious quiet and the bed was wonderful. The only concern was the interior hallway was really smoky even though all the room were marked non-smoking.

"We love this place!"

JimLBoise, Boise 12/10/2016

Though never a destination, Winnemucca has become a frequent stop-over point, and it is great to have, as their sign says, a "Spacious, comfortable, and quiet" place to stay. Not the cheapest in town, but it is a great value.

"Standard Best Western"

Charles K, Cody, Wyoming 11/10/2016

This motel meets the normal Best Western standards, which is a cut above the usual mid-range motels. The motel is dog friendly (+$10, but limited number of "dog" rooms so get a reservation). The breakfast, served in the main lobby, is just passable. (But the Winnemucca Inn next door serves Starbucks at the bar.) An area for dog walking adacent to the eastern door (with waste bags).

"Nice people, appeared clean"

yqm28, Atlanta, Georgia 10/10/2016

Nice staff, reasonably priced - thought everything was clean until we let baby crawl around on floor and realized that she was then covered in gross black direct - dark carpet hiding that its never been really cleaned - just a quick vacuum but no real cleaning. It was gross.

"on the road again"

Klaus S, Mesquite, Nevada 09/10/2016

nice clean and quiet place in a town with plenty of places to have a good dinner. go try the martin hotel for a good basque meal. the motel has recently gone through a renovation process; its lobby functions as the breakfast room, as well and is nicely appointed. the hotel staff is friendly and professional. the rooms are clean and the amenities are plentiful.

User 05/10/2016

Basic and clean. Friendly staff. Decor needs updating. Good oatmeal, scrambled eggs, potatoes, waffles etc for continental breakfast. Staff was friendly. They upgraded the room for no extra charge to get us on the first floor.

"Palace in the Middle of Nowhere"

Susan E, Henderson, United States 05/10/2016

Winnemucca has a great Best Western. It has great rooms, great food, large beautiful lobby with a large two-story window and a brick fireplace, and helpful staff. The rooms and hallways have a quaint country look. The rooms were extremely large. The breakfast was beyond the quality of any best western I have stayed at. The eggs were cooked perfectly and kept warm. The oatmeal was the right texture. They had cherries, blueberries, and cranberries for the oatmeal. They had greek rather than small Yoplait yogurts. They had blueberry scones that really put it over the top. (the only thing they might do is wash the windows and patch some couches in the rooms). But it was great they added couches and benches in the most basic rooms.

"Nice- Lack there of Customer Service"

Slowski2014, Broomfield, Colorado 03/10/2016

When we went to check in there were 2 Ladies at the front desk, we stood there waiting to be checked in- the Ladies felt their conversation about one going home to have pot roast with her husband was more important than checking in the customers. The next day at breakfast the breakfast helper was complaining about what items she needed to refill that were empty ( its that her job?) Another customer accidentally spilled something and she looked angry, that she now had to clean it up the mess ( it's that her job?) When we finally got checked in , we were told our room was on the second floor, she told us to use the staircase, cause the elevator was still being worked on! She didn't even offer us a room on the first level?? So we had to hike our suitcases up the stairs ??? .. The room was very clean with lots of room. Would I stay there again ... uuumm ??

"Road trip to Yellowstone National Park & Grand Tetons"

donna_2004, Sacramento, CA 03/10/2016

Although our room itself was very nicely arranged, with an additional sink in the bathroom section where the bathtub/shower and toilet was located, we found room for improvement! We have always enjoyed our stays at Best Western hotels in the previous trips. This particular hotel is undergoing some changes, and we took that into consideration: for example, they are installing a much needed elevator! Since we noticed around 80-90% of the people using the breakfast room the morning of check-out were in our 65+ age group, an elevator is not a luxury but a necessity! On the problem side, the refrigerator in our room was not functioning...unfortunately, not able to keep our pizza from the night before:( And yes, it was plugged in and the dial checked several times to make sure we were using it properly! The morning of check-out: breakfast items were the usual, BUT THE EGGS WERE TERRIBLY OVERDONE (even when she brought out fresh tray)! The containers for the juice and milk were so heavy, anyone with arthritis (me) found them very difficult to hold with one hand. Sorry, but these are items which at all BW's we've stayed at over the past 15 years, we've never had a problem with.

"Great hotel"

Tripchiick, California 02/10/2016

We were impressed by this hotel. The front desk gals were friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfortable and we got the best night's sleep we'd had in a while. The room was quiet, clean and spacious. Even the toilet was nice and powerful! Would highly recommend.

har3340, San Francisco, California 27/09/2016

Room was on 2nd floor, no elevator. They were either repairing it or putting one in. Was quite hard for me with respiratory problems to climb stairs and long hallways. also room made very strange creaking noises. And the room rate was quite expensive for what you receive, have stayed at other Best Westerns with lower rates and room and beds are far better.

"BEST WESTERN Plus Gold Country Inn, Winnemucca, NEVADA"

Terrell S, Selma, United States 26/09/2016

This motel is by far the best in the Winnecucca, NV area. The room amenities are always outstanding coupled with professional and courteous room service. The breakfast experience is displayed to accommodate your appetite with a broad selection of food items; each of which is hot and delicious. The scrambled eggs are fluffy and cooked to perfection. Our grandson loved the sausage links; his favorite. I would recommend this hotel to anyone stopping in Winnemucca for a single night or several days.

"Our best on this trip"

ayjake, Pleasanton, CA 25/09/2016

The room had two sinks, so the wife and I could both get ready for breakfast at the same time - WOW. The rooms were nice, clean. The best we saw on our 10 day trip for the price!!!!! Great recommend for dinner too - the Martin Hotel in Winnemucca for dinner.

"Modern, Clean and Welcoming"

hct1948, Chicago, Illinois 23/09/2016

Everything worked just as designed at this hotel. The room was large, a little close to a fairly busy street, but not an issue. Ask for an even numbered room if sensitive to noise. We had to leave prior to the free breakfast buffet. This was a welcome find in the wilds of Nevada.

"A great rest stop"

User 23/09/2016

We're driving from California to Yellowstone National Park on Wyoming. We decided to rest here after 8 hours of driving. The hotel is clean, quiet and pleasant smelling despite being pet friendly. Room is spacious and clean. There is a refrigerator and microwave oven. The window faces the road but I cannot hear any noise. Since we just got in, we will try the breakfast tomorrow morning. So far, it's a wonderful place to rest for the night.

"A nice stop"

User 23/09/2016

This is truly a Best Western Plus---a lovely facility at a very reasonable price. The staff was warm and welcoming. The woman at the front desk was very helpful in getting me a very early check in. She was also very helpful in suggesting a quick, easy and good place to have lunch.

"Great Quiet Stay"

Kristal G, Visalia, United States 19/09/2016

I was very pleased with my stay at this facility. The room was next to a road, but you could not hear a thing. It was very surprising. the staff and breakfast was great. Price was a little more than i wanted to pay, but in the end was worth every penny.

"Nice and Clean"

User 14/09/2016

The rooms are clean and staff very helpful. We have stayed here several times and feel very comfortable. There are nearby restaurants and fast food places to eat. We typically order a pizza to pickup. There is a grocery store across the road for any forgotten items you may need.

Nice quiet hotel with modern rooms. The rooms are large and clean and the staff at the front desk was very friendly and professional. The full breakfast in the morning was great. The cafe attached to the casino next door is nice.

"Spacious Room, Filling Breakfast, Friendly Folks"

Myra R, Miami, Florida 06/09/2016

Just what we needed, a comfortable place to spend the night. Our welcome was warm, and we got a good recommendation for a homey Basque restaurant, the Martin hotel. Our new-looking, generous room had an extra sink outside the bathroom, a coffee maker, though beverages were available in the lobby. Individual climate control was a plus. Bed was fairly firm, if a bit bouncy. Our room on the second floor faced a small road, quieter than the Main Street, though we could still hear cars going by in the morning and doors slamming. Not enough to bother us, but be forewarned if you need absolute silence. A bit brighter lighting would be a plus. Shower had plenty of hot water, though spray didn't come out of the middle holes in the shower head. Maybe I didn't know how to adjust it. Breakfast was pleasantly as expected: yogurt, scrambled eggs, doughnuts, oatmeal. For us, it was worth the extra dollars compared to some of the other motels.

"It's the People"

User 05/09/2016

I arrived at the Best Western in Winnemucca Nevada on a Saturday afternoon on a holiday weekend. I didn't care for my initial room- Ist floor, etc. I was tired and in a picky mood. Despite being busy they found me a very nice room on the second floor and charged me the same rate. It had a kitchen that was very well stocked. The real help came when I forgot my new camera with two weeks worth of vacation pictures on the card. They called the phone number I had left, left a message they had found it before I even knew it was gone. Unfortunately I was now a four hour drive away. They were very pleasant and patient with me when I called back frantic several times, assuring me that the camera and the other things I had left in a backpack in the room were safe and in the manager office.

"Spacious, Modern rooms but not the best spa"

User 03/09/2016

Spacious, clean and modern rooms. Finicky key cards though. Only allowed about two seconds between swiping and turning room handle, so timing is everything. Usually took a couple tries. Nice breakfast. Outdoor spa was nice and hot but had the weakest jets I've ever encountered. Actually thought they were off until they shut off completely! Overall nice place though. Would stay again.

"Best of the best"

User 27/08/2016

Of all of the BW properties we stay in each year, this one ranks as the best. The service is excellent, the rooms are clean and well furnished, and the staff always seems to go out of their way to make sure that all is right with our stay.

"Good Stay"

James H, Los Angeles, United States 24/08/2016

Pleasant and helpful staff. Well designed rooms, clean and relatively spacious. Quiet and restful. We are glad to know in future stays when driving through this area that the hotel will have an elevator (at this time the elevator was in development) was not user friendly for those with handicaps. Otherwise a lovely stay.

"Better than most"

intheshop7, Costa Mesa, California 22/08/2016

This hotel has all the elements you expect from standard chain motels. Large room -- but small bathrooms. The staff was friendly on check in. Breakfast was fine, slightly better than typical. Pool was cold and is shared with another motel so not easy to reach from your room. Hot tub is large and popular.

"Poor value"

Anne K, St. Louis, United States 22/08/2016

Well it was shelter, but the internet was awful, the television sound cut out every few seconds, and no one ever asked if we were members of the Best Western travel rewards. The bill came to $161 which I considered to be way to high for the quality.

"Very clean, spacious and well equipped room for the price!"

Glorymarie, California 17/08/2016

The room was large, clean, and the bed and the linens were very comfortable. The room had a coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. Means a lot when you are on a road trip!! The service was friendly and the breakfast was very good. When we checked in they had cupcakes at the front desk. They serve apples, coffee, etc. 24/7. The location is nice, and they have about 5 restaurants within walking distance and they all offer 10% off to hotel guests. We highly recommend this lodging!

"Very dog-friendly!"

Kalamariverrat, Rainier, Oregon 15/08/2016

Very relaxing stop on our way from Misery (errr... Missouri) back to Nevada. Very dog-friendly, Jack, Winston, and Chesley appreciated the special 'dog-friendly' coverlets on the beds. Parking adequate for SUV and trailer; grassy areas for dogs to do their business, microwave and refrigerator in room, great breakfast choices. Great place to stay in mid-northern Nevada.

"Nice breakfast area."

TCM4, Idaho 14/08/2016

Front desk teams was pleasant. Room was clean and quieter than expected with the location being right downtown. Within walking distance of restaurants. The breakfast area is in a corner of the lobby and made it comfortable to eat there without feeling on top of each other.... Lots of people but with open space it did not feel over crowded. The pool is at the end of the parking lot. We did not use the pool but it looked very clean. Elevator was not working while we were there. Must have been pet friendly since we saw a few pets in the hallways.

"Great hotel!!"

User 14/08/2016

My family and I stayed at this hotel for one night on our way from California to Colorado. We arrived at 3am and the lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful in getting us our room. Our room was clean and very comfortable, with a nice TV and an adjustable A/C. The free wifi was fast. The continental breakfast was delicious and included coffee, waffles, baked goods, eggs, and cereal (and much more). Although we didn't use it, the pool looked clean and fun. There's a casino nearby for anyone interested. Overall, we had a great stay, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick 1 night stay or a longer period of time.

"Always a Pleasure"

Donald E, Stagecoach, United States 14/08/2016

Hotel staff always goes out of their way to take care of their guests. Rooms and lobby are always clean and great selection for breakfast. I've stayed at this hotel many times on business trips and highly recommend.

"Great place to stay in after a week of camping"

JuanVelasquez, Denver, Colorado 14/08/2016

I was on my way back to Denver, Colorado from Likely Place, California. I had just spent a week of living in a tent, observing the stars. It was not exactly primitive, since there was a restaurant and hot showers nearby. But it was nice to sleep in an actual bed. The room was very large, and very clean. It's the perfect place to stay in after a week of camping

"Dog friendly hotel"

Carol L, Boise, United States 09/08/2016

Large, clean, updated rooms. If you are traveling with a pet this is a very good place to stay. Dog fee is $10.00. I can do that! Most hotels charge more, some are down right ridiculous. I suppose they want to be register as dog friendly but actually are not. Decent breakfast with many choices.

"Stop over"

Cindy Z, Willits, California 06/08/2016

Nice outside appearance, friendly check in and out. Smelly room, very dirty carpet in room and hallway. Pillows were uncomfortable and the air was either off or running full blast. Breakfast smelled good, we didn't have time to eat. Crappy coffee though. OK for a stop over. Over priced for location.

"It was good to be at best western country inn but they dont have laundry services."

peprahfrank, Accra, Ghana 01/08/2016

The room was accommodating and their telephone services were good. It was spacious and had an indoor kitchen with coffee makers . It is within the main city and had a large parking area for everyone. The breakfast is vey early and has almost what you can eat

"Better than I thiught"

Walter F, Ogden, Utah 31/07/2016

Read the reviews. Noted the lack of an elevator, but it is in the midst of being installed. That and it only has a second floor. I can struggle up the stairs. All the heavy stuff? That's why I have kids. The rooms are pretty large, comfortable and most importantly, clean. So far, it is quiet and I like that.

"Pretty good"

User 29/07/2016

Enjoyed our stay, close to food, a grocery store, two casinos. Nice staff, decent breakfast. My only complaint would be make sure you don't stay on the second elevator. Overall good place and clean

"Perfect Stop Over for a Quiet Comfy Nights Rest"

CAMermaid, Berkeley, CA 29/07/2016

Perfect stop over with our dog on our travels. Provided extra bed sheet for our dog to sleep on, rate for pet was very reasonable $10, rooms, bed very comfortable... nice showers. Just what we needed Some green space in the parking lot area for pet as well as walking along sidewalk for a couple of blocks. Internet worked for our needs. Will stop here again as this is a good first night destination in our cross country trips.

"Very Loud"

WPSClarksvegas, Clarksville, Arkansas 28/07/2016

We stayed in this hotel and left exhausted. The hotel seemed clean but old. The town is older and seems like a casino / pass thru town. The noises from the roads were loud. Our room made so many noises..never figured out what that it kept us up in the night. The hot tub outside was warm. Crowds there were a bit louder. Breakfast was ok.

"Nice Hotel"

Steve D, Sacramento, United States 26/07/2016

Spent a night here on our summer vacation. Hotel was very nice and clean with large, comfortable rooms. Breakfast in the lobby had everything we could ask for. And Round Table Pizza and supermarket are just across the street on backside of property. We have stayed at many Best Westerns and were very satisfied with this hotel. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again should our travels bring us back this way.

"Good quick overnight hotel"

nealjill, Livermore, CA 25/07/2016

Your basic hotel, but they still allow smoking, which is only the first floor but smoke travels up! The breakfast wasn't worth it, super busy, not well stocked or kept clean. Better than trying to find a room in Lovelock.

"Great stay when passing through area"

BrotherBoggs, Smithfield, Utah 25/07/2016

Very pleasant stay while passing through on way to CA and a great stay for families in a safe area of town. Room was very comfortable and decorated very nicely. The beds were comfortable and we all slept very well. Noise outside was minimal despite being on a main street going through town. Breakfast was quite tasty in the morning and the staff were all friendly and very personable. They have definitely trained them well. Nice job. I felt quite at home while staying here, would definitely be back if ever in the area.

"No Other Motel Better!"

Nancy & David H, Winnemucca, NV, United States 25/07/2016

We stated at the Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn just last week. We normally stay there every time we travel from California to Idaho. It's comfortable, clean, great and friendly service, comfortable bed, and good breakfast food! They have a limited amount of pet rooms, but do allow dogs. Why look any where else? Make your next reservations at this oasis in the desert.

"Unexpectedly surprised by the quality of this hotel (Pet friendly)"

Mach91, Chapel Hill, North Carolina 23/07/2016

This is part of a series of reviews of hotels visited between Tennessee and California. Our original plan had been to drive to Reno from Salt Lake City, but because we had been delayed and did not leave SLC until 2 pm we had to alter our plan and stopped in Winnemucca. The hotel is set up like a "country inn" with a fireplace in the lobby (nice for winter). They are set up for the tired traveler coming off of I-80. Cupcakes (moist and tasty, your choice of chocolate and vanilla) are set out at the front desk for guests. There is a complimentary breakfast in the morning that is stocked with the usual assortment of pastries, cereal, waffles, pancakes, granola, and fruit. There is a faint smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway, but our room was non-smoking and I did not smell anything in the room. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. The hotel gets 5 stars for providing a sheet to place across the bed for pets. Every pet-friendly hotel should adopt this practice. Note that the only restaurant open later at night is the one in the casino next door. There is room in the parking lot for trailers. If you are ever traveling between Reno and SLC and need to stop somewhere, I would highly recommend this Best Western.

"Great room, good service."

pekopper, Detroit, Michigan 21/07/2016

Rooms are great, the only complaint we had was the soft water, wow, way too soft! I never knew if all the soap was off or not! But, the rooms are comfortable, well equipped and the property is well worth the extra cost. Breakfast is included and was very good!

"Very comfortable"

User 21/07/2016

This was another nice surprise by Best Western. For a small town in the middle of the Nevada desert, this location was very comfortable. Rooms were clean and spacious. The pool is outside so you have the option of getting some sun. Breakfast is served in a large lobby with nice views of mountains. If you want to gamble it is a short walk across the hotel parking lot to the nearest casino. That's not our thing but the hotel gave us two for one drink tickets so we stopped in for lunch. For casinos it seemed nice. Not real smoky and lunch was acceptable. Winnemucca is not on our regular route to and from the Northwest but we would stay here for sure if we pass through again

"Passing thru Winnemucca"

Douglas N, Santa Rosa CA, United States 21/07/2016

Very satisfied with Best Western. Will stay again if passing thru the area. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Everything worked fine in the room with the TV, toilet great shower lights. Bed was great and the room was quiet on the ground floor. The breakfast area was pleasant and comfortable.

"High Desert Oasis"

marksw12, New Braunfels, Texas 18/07/2016

This is the 4th time I've stayed at this property and have never been disappointed. The room was comfortable and spacious. The addition of an elevator just adds to the appeal of this Best Western. The staff is always helpful, courteous and professional. Just a short walk across the parking lot to a casino and restaurant and lounge.

"Extremely Satisfied!"

James H, University Place 16/07/2016

We stayed in Winnemuca for one night during the return of our 10 day road trip through Nevada and Utah. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was excellent. An added benefit was the Garden Restaurant next door that served delicious hometown food. I highly recommend the chicken fried steak with cream gravy. We would definitely stay here again.

"An Oasis in the desert"

artfenski, Utah 15/07/2016

The place is a cut above your standard overnight stop hotel. The room was very large and quiet. There was a small grass area by the door for the dog and other decent grassy areas close by. Staff was very friendly and nice to our little beast

"An Unexpected Delight"

User 12/07/2016

Winnemucca, Nevada, is a very small town just off I-80. The Best Western Gold Country Inn is a delight - when we stopped overnight in June, 2016, they were just finishing remodeling the facility. The hotel was spotlessly clean, large and roomy, and because of some great maintenance people, everything worked flawlessly. The staff was efficient and friendly - a wonderful surprise. We just returned from spending 23 days driving about 6000 miles around the US, and of all the hotels we visited, this stop was the most relaxing - and our stops included some expensive, top-tier places. It was also the least expensive. If you're crossing Nevada on I-80, give the Winnemucca Best Western a try.

"good clean place to spend the night"

preslor, American Fork, Utah 11/07/2016

We just stayed one night, breakfast was good (full hot breakfast). The suite we stayed in had three queen beds, was big enough for the 3 adults and 3 kids we had travelling. Was near places to eat. The kids enjoyed the pool.

"A great overnight in Winnemucca!!"

Susan B, Sacramento, California 11/07/2016

My husband and I were both impressed with the bed linens, the comfort of the bed, and the quiet AC unit! We slept so well! Also, although the hotel was completely full, it was the quietest property I think I have ever stayed at....We would definitely stay here again. Friendly staff, decent breakfast (although the serving area was quite crowded), nice pool, and a good night's sleep!!

"Nice place, decent breakfast"

User 10/07/2016

Stopped with my kids. We got in a little early and they got us into our room, shafted some welcome cupcakes (which my kids loved) and were very attentive to our needs. The wifi was somewhat unreliable. It would cycle on and off. But the breakfast in the morning was better than expected.

"A nice overnight"

Docsbob, Yucca Valley, California 10/07/2016

The good: we stayed in a double queen room. It was very spacious. Had an extra table with 2 chairs, bench at the end of one bed, 2 comfy chairs, fridge/micro & large flat screen tv. Nice bathroom with separate dressing area. Great breakfast (typical of Best Westerns) all the usual continental fare plus hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausage, and make your own waffles. Complimentary access to a nice fitness gym just behind the building. The mediocre: floors got my toddlers feet dirty (but many hotels do). It wasn't easy to get into the swimming pool. Apparently you need an extra card key but they were out of them. And they gave another couple an entirely different answer on how to get in. That was confusing. You have to check pool towels out at the desk. Just an extra semi-annoying step to be aware of. The pool was chilly. The hot tub was better but "warm" not hot. The handrail into the hot tub is wobbly & needs replacing. Bottom line, it was a quick overnight stay with kids & I would stay again.

"On vacation"

judylwiggins, bakersfield 09/07/2016

We were in our way to Idaho and stopped for the night at this Best Western. Our rooms were very clean, comfortable, had two sinks, one in the bathroom and one outside. Had soft seating as well as a desk with comfortable chair. I would stay there again in a heart beat.

"Large clean rooms"

amber1127, Spanish Fork, Utah 09/07/2016

This was a stop on our way to San Francisco. It was older and undergoing some renovation. Rooms were large, clean, and well maintained. The fridge and microwave were also nice to have. Pool was off site as well as the gym so that was different. Breakfast had enough to get by in the morning. Staff both night and day were very friendly and accommodating.

"Clean and accommodating"

User 09/07/2016

We asked for an got a first floor room that was very nice, clean. Staff very helpful. Breakfast fresh and good. Surprisingly cute town with lots of things to do. Great Mexican Restaurant at the other end of town.

"Everything was perfect"

jamesrwallace, Gold River, California 09/07/2016

This is about as good as it gets for a motel. Nice friendly check in, great rooms, fast wifi, nice breakfast in the morning, clean rooms, comfortable beds, everything. Sure, you'll probably pay slightly more than you can find elsewhere, but we stayed in five motels on our trip and this was THE BEST.

"A good nights rest"

Cloud_Breaker, Reno, Nevada 08/07/2016

The Best Western in Winnemucca is a good place to stay. The room was clean and spacious and everything worked. The free breakfast wasn't too bad although it was pretty crowded. They just don't have enough space for all of the guests to eat at the same time. The only complaint would be that the mini-muffins were a bit dried out. Overall, very nice.

"road trip 2016"

Carol T, Berkeley, United States 07/07/2016

The hotel is very clean and the people friendly. the rooms are truly wonderful! hotel is in a quiet spot and the breakfast is quite delicious. the staff was helpful in getting us a ground floor room for my parents who were in need of an accessible room! the room very clean and quite comfortable!

"Clean, Quiet, Spacious, Comfortable"

coast_to_coast_250, Victoria, Canada 05/07/2016

I wish all places we stayed were such good value. There is not one negative which I could say about the BW Plus Winnemucca. It is excellent value. Pleasant reception staff. Very quiet, spacious king bed room with sofa and chair. The bathroom had two sinks. Nice decor, comfortable bed, great shower. Beverages in lobby. Good breakfast. Delicious cupcakes in afternoon in lobby.

"Desert Oasis"

AMY R, OSCEOLA 03/07/2016

The ac was on before arrival- room cool. Efficient front desk staff. Breakfast ready early. Elevator under construction. Comfortable rooms with large windows. Several choices for breakfast with to go options

"Nice enough stop-over."

paulzimmer, Roseville, California 03/07/2016

Decent. Upstairs room and no elevator was kind of a bummer. Breakfast was so-so. Clumsy double-door entry added to move-in/move-out difficulty. But good enough for a one-night stop-over. There's a coin-op self-service car cash down the street, btw. You'll need it to get the bugs off your car...

"Clean, Freshly Updated"

User 27/06/2016

The carpets are new, the elevator is currently being remodeled, the management is clearly making an effort to keep up its maintenance. We had a room on the second floor (that's as high as you get). It was quiet and comfortable. In Winnemucca, that's about as good as it gets.

"Best Western John Day"

User 25/06/2016

The rooms and service are good. The pool was clean and great place for the kids to play. The breakfast could use a little help in organization and not watering down the gravy. The wi-fi worked well. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxo

"Golf Trip"

Keith L, Crescent Valley, United States 24/06/2016

The hotel was great, clean and centrally located. The check-in process was quick and efficient. The room was clean and well decorated. The staff was attentive, polite and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves, even though my golf game was a bit underwhelming. Thank you and we will see you again next year.

"Great stay at Best Western Plus, Winnemucca"

aclemson, Sacramento, California 20/06/2016

Just had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Very clean and comfortable. At least 5-6 places to dine in immediate area. Not including the breakfast provided at hotel, eggs, sausage, waffles you make fresh, plus the fruit, oatmeal, etc. An excellent way to start the day. All the staff were pleasant, and very helpful. Could not have asked for more.

"Best Best Western"

User 19/06/2016

Great rooms with a great staff and an excellent staff. Breakfast was great and well stocked and kept clean. Nice pool and they have dog friedly rooms. Nice location with easy access and two casinos within a block.

"Great amenities, just a little dated."

RGWcruiser, Grass Valley, California 18/06/2016

This hotel has everything a traveler needs, including 2 sinks in the bathroom; comfortable beds, a microwave, refrigerator, internet good AC and a sofa. We always appreciate a sofa so that one of us doesn't have to sit on the bed or in a desk chair in the evening. The furnishings in the room and the lobby/breakfast area were a little dated, but this was very minor compared to all the amenities offered. The breakfast choices were quite broad, with eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, hot & cold cereals and hard boiled eggs. There were even breakfast sandwiches available to microwave. The restaurant in the next door casino was also surprisingly good for dinner.

"Thank you, Best Western!"

Zoe T, Boise, United States 16/06/2016

We stayed for a night with some friends for a fun, spontaneous trip. This hotel was clean, accommodating, and well worth the inexpensive rate! We were close to all the night life, and there was even a cute parade on the street in the morning. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend this hotel if you find yourself in Winnemucca.

"Not the best night's sleep"

Rick C, Longview, Washington 13/06/2016

We had traveled several hours and needed rest. The staff "allowed " us to check in early but it took a few tries to get an appropriate room. It turned out that during the night a noise came though the wall that kept my wife awake all night as the bed was not comfortable enough to obtain a good night's sleep. The hotel was being updated and maybe after completion a better experience might be expected. The breakfast area was cramped with mostly prepackaged food.

"Very Nice and Comfortable"

User 09/06/2016

Stayed one night and found this hotel to be very nice and comfortable. Near casinos and eating places too. The breakfast was typical BW but adequate. Would definitely stay here again. They are in process of putting in elevator which will help with us older travelers when room is on second floor.

"Winnemucca Stay"

Michael N, Eagle, United States 06/06/2016

The room was spacious, attractive and well-kept. Stayed here before because of the quality of the facility. Hotel is in heart of Winnemucca and easily accessible from the main thoroughfare. Plenty of good eating establishments nearby. The hotel's complimentary breakfast was about average.

"Great Hotel in the Desert"

SkyHy, California 05/06/2016

We loved this hotel! Sometimes when we hear the words clean in reviews, we are not sure what to think. This hotel had great amenities, great customer service, modern nicely appointed rooms, good breakfast in the morning, good location, and quiet. We have absolutely nothing but good things to review on this hotel. Easy on, easy off to I-80, walking distance to a restaurant and casino, and cupcakes upon arrival. There is no elevator, so be careful of that if you can't do stairs. Also watch out for smoking rooms. They do have them, but make sure you ask for non-smoking if you want that. The front desk accommodated our request for a King room even though we booked a Queen which was all that was available on the site we used. We got an upstairs corner unit which was huge and corner windows for lots of light. Also was glad to have double sinks so someone could shower and the other person can still have a sink to use. It is a bit more than some other hotels in the area, but is an excellent value. We will definitely stay again when in the area.

"Very Quiet Air Conditioning!"

Sandra C, Carpinteria, United States 05/06/2016

A normal very good Best Western - BUT VERY IMPRESSED BY THE QUIET AIR CONDITIONING! The A/C is new, comes on with a very slight click and a hum! No roar like most rooms where you need to keep the fan on all the time or it will wake you every time it turns on. Excellent and very quiet night! Hopefully all the rooms now have this A/C unit.

"Good place to stay in Winnemucca"

Joanna L, Pleasanton, California 01/06/2016

Stayed at this property over night while passing through town. Convenient location, clean and spacious room with kitchen and large bathroom. Free breakfast but marginal selection & quality. Reliable Best Western property. Would stay again.

"Clean and comfortable"

User 01/06/2016

A nice property in Winnemucca. We had an issue in our room with a heavily perfume smell, like maybe a strong carpet cleaner. The immediately moved us to another room and it was fine. Fridge and microwave in each room and the complimentary breakfast has everything most people would enjoy for breakfast.

"Clean, friendly, great value!"

olddancer55, Spanish Fork, Utah, United States 28/05/2016

We stay fairly often in Best Western hotels while traveling because of their rewards system. I am not generally a big fan of the chain because I prefer higher quality, but this hotel did not disappoint. Our room was spacious, clean, modern, and comfortable. The bath was stocked with bath salts, shower gel and the usual amenities. My favorite part was the magnifying mirror mounted on the wall, which is a real luxury if you have trouble putting on make-up without one. I would stay here again anytime!

mubbs, Stillwater, Minnesota 27/05/2016

Just returned from a road trip moving furniture from Minneapolis to San Francisco. This was our third and final stop along the way. The staff was welcoming-even had a spot for our rental truck. Rooms were spacious. Beds were comfy as well. They had GLASS (not thin plastic) water glasses and ceramic coffee mugs(not paper) in the rooms. Another great amenity was the Direct TV service with many channels including the Tennis Channel. Amazing! The hot breakfast was also a welcome surprise. Their waffles were the best ever. I would stay here again and will put Best Westerns at the top of my searches for future road trips.

"Great place to stay."

Joanne T, Walnut Creek, United States 24/05/2016

Room was immaculate, comfortable beds, quiet would definitely stay again, breakfast was extremely good with eggs, sausage, multitude of bread products, waffles with cherry and apple and peanut butter topping, cereal etc. Everything was nicely displayed and was fresh.

"Winnemucca, NV hotel review"

User 22/05/2016

The hotel was clean and quiet. The breakfast food was hot and fresh. The coffee was very good. There was a selection of teas to choose from and fresh fruit every day. The staff was friendly and helpful.

"Great Location"

Dramie123, Mooloolaba, Australia 20/05/2016

From the moment you drive into the parking area you notice the manicured lawns and gardens. Reception staff were really helpful. The 2 queen bedded room was large and well layed out - the internet worked well. Location of the hotel is really good. Bed and pillows comfortable

"Average BW with some nice surprises"

carsonguy, Carson City, Nevada 19/05/2016

This is a standard Best Western and a little long in the tooth at that. It sits between two busy thoroughfares in this small town. But it also offers some nice surprises. First, the TV in my room was awesome and was obviously brand new. Second, the free breakfast was excellent, far better than other BW's I've stayed at. Finally, you can't beat the location. Several casinos and restaurants within a short walk. Given the competition this is a great value in Winnemucca.

kathy k, Port Orford 16/05/2016

My husband and I stayed there on leave, and return of our trip, and will stay there again!!!Clean!!Comfortable,friendly..All the important things in a hotel..Even a makeup mirror!!!My husband was very happy about their making sure we would have a room where we could see our truck!

"Just OK"

Sara H, Napa, California 16/05/2016

I stayed here twice on a road trip. During both of my visits, the elevator was out and I was forced to carry my luggage upstairs unassisted. The vending machine was also out. The hotel was also undergoing renovations and it appeared that nothing had been done during the week between my two visits. The rooms were a good size and clean but on both visits the TV did not work upon check in and I had to either figure out the problem myself as plugs had been unplugged or call maintenance to fix the problem. The staff is nice and it is dog friendly which is a plus but I have stayed at much nicer BW Plus hotels.

"Great place to stay"

Keith J, Richmond, United States 10/05/2016

We always enjoy our stay in Winnemucca at the Best Western. It is quiet, clean and friendly personnel. It is easy to reach from the freeway and close to restaurants ans shopping. We have stayed at this motel 5 times in the last 5 years and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

"Excellent experience"

Sandi N, Kansas City, Missouri 05/05/2016

The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. Our experiences with the staff were all very positive. The breakfast was excellent and included fresh fruit. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. We will consider Best Western in our future travels. Too bad they charge for pets, but the pet area in the back of the hotel was very nice.

"Typical Best Western"

mauilover2006, Clearlake 03/05/2016

I had to travel to Winnemucca for a friend's wedding. The breakfast in the mornings was very good with plenty of variety. The room was clean and spacious with plenty of electrical outlets. The only problem I had was that when I initially checked in, they gave me a key to a room that was already occupied. Fortunately the key did not work, but I was quite surprised when the couple on the other side opened the door and invited me in lol. Then the clerk at the front desk did not believe me that the room was occupied because the maid told her it was clean? She did apologize and quickly got me in another room. Also, elevator is broken so be aware that you have to lug your stuff up the stairs.

"Pet friendly, small town welcome"

User 28/04/2016

Pleasantly surprised as we checked in. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. Quiet hotel. Coming from Vegas, that's big. Restaurant choices surround the hotel. Updated amenities. Free WiFi and Continental breakfast. The breakfast was not what I expected. They had more in the lobby than the usual prepackaged danish and muffins.

"Great Place to stay in Winnenucca"

William B, Elk Grove, United States 26/04/2016

Quality property that is close to everything in town. Rooms are very comfortable. This property has working electrical outlets near the bed for use (without having to unplug the clock). Great idea for older travelers. It seemed to be pet friendly since I saw a couple of guest with pets. The afternoon clerk was a little uninformed about town and the only person to check you in, but overall a GREAT PLACE TO STAY.

Jerry J, Davis, United States 24/04/2016

This facility was outstanding. The quality of the furnishings in the room was wonderful and the pet walking area was very nice. This was definitely the best room we stayed at on our vacation. I highly recommend staying at the hotel.

"Great place to stay in a small town"

Ruben G, sacramento, United States 17/04/2016

We were reluctant to stay in a small town because we were not sure of the quality. We were mistaken. Although we had a few equipment glitches, we were happy with the hotel, the room and the breakfast items that were above normal in many respects. We recommend this hotel without hesitation.

"Nice Place to Stay"

Barbara N, United States 17/04/2016

Very nice room, very nice breakfast. No problems whatsoever. Beds very comfortable, room very clean. Enjoyed the stay. no street noise, friendly staff. Decor of room was male oriented but very clean. Bathroom good sized and clean.

"Typical Best Western"

Bernie G, San Jose, California 14/04/2016

Arrived around 7 p.m., checkin was speedy, room was in good shape, very large, but I don't think they are all big, it was not very full. The desk provided info on place to eat. Breakfast had all the usual, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, and al the other stuff. Linens were good, good speed free wifi. I think the place has been recent,y remodeled.

"First stay in Winnemucca"

Tony B, Salt Lake City, Utah 14/04/2016

I'm a member of Best Western's rewards program so I always try to stay at one if there is one in town. This one was nice just like most of the other ones I have stayed in. A little pricier compared to the others, but perhaps this is what it costs to stay in Winnemucca. They were going through a remodel so there was construction going on inside and outside. There was a constant smell of paint, so if you are sensitive to that you might want to wait to stay here until after the remodel. Otherwise, it was comfortable, clean, and quiet. I would stay there again.

"No elevator and we were on the second floor"

gary053, Prineville, Oregon 14/04/2016

We looked at an inexpensive motor-inn before going to the Best Western, because the BW had a full, hot breakfast, we decided to pay more for it, plus the room was larger. The Best Western is installing an elevator, but that didn't help us get our luggage upstairs. The hall had debris from the elevator construction. The compressor for the workmen was noisy in the morning. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were lumpy. Glad I brought mine from home. Our room had a solid feel that is comforting, but the bath exhaust fan was inoperative and had been for some time, because the paint in the bath was blistering and turquoise was showing through in a couple places. Drywall? Also, the tub/shower faucet doesn't control the flow of water: when the water is on, it's full-blast. I commented to the manager that the water was slippery and that the water softener needed to be adjusted...a good thing that the tub had a rubber shower mat and grab bar. This place will be excellent once the elevator is finished, they get the water softener under control, and the exhaust fan repaired. When at breakfast, we were surprised to see a sign that said, "Sorry, no hot food today"; turned out that something had broken and the kitchen was unable to serve the hot foods. (Waffles were available, however.) I told the morning clerk that we had chosen BW over the motor-in because of the hot breakfast; she apologized and took $30 off the bill and labeled it "no breakfast".

"Very good, but poor wifi"

Bob W, Anchorage, Alaska 25/03/2016

Good, clean, quiet hotel. It was undergoing renovations (I think a new elevator) while I was there, but had a free breakfast. They don't have an exercise room, but gave me a key to one less than a block away, which was well set up and clean. The only drawback was the slow and spotty internet.

Lydie L, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for reviewing our hotel on Trip Advisor. Yes that was an elevator you saw being built. It should be done by the end of April. I have passed on your comments about the Internet to our IT tech to see if he can look into the problems you experienced. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience.

"Great Find in Winnemucca"

Traveler5121, Vancouver, Washington 15/03/2016

This is a very nice Best Western. Staff was friendly and helpful. Check-in smooth. Our room on the first floor with two queen beds was spacious and clean. The bathroom was large, spotless and updated. A second sink just outside of the bathroom was convenient. Free wifi was fast. Although our room at the back of the building was directly adjacent to a major road, it was very quiet. The first floor is advertised as "pet-friendly;" however there was no sign that a pet had ever stayed in our room. The room was very fresh and clean, carpets spotless, and no pet-smells. So don't be afraid to stay on the first floor if you don't have a pet. We chose first floor because there are no elevators in the building; although one is under construction. Free breakfast is served in the large lobby area. Pretty standard fare. We will stay again if we ever find ourselves in Winnemucca at the end of the day.

Lydie L, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your cooperation in taking the time to complete a Trip Advisor review following your visit to the Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn. Your comments on our performance were most generous. It is always gratifying to know that our efforts were appreciated. We look forward to your return.

"No Elevator"

261debran, Salt Lake City, Utah 15/03/2016

Disappointed that a Best Western PLUS would not have an elevator and be run down. Staff was nice enough, though a little unprofessional. Usually PLUS indicates a nicer motel experience. Their elevator is under construction.

Lydie L, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to fill out a Trip Advisor review. We are currently in the process of updating and renovating our lobby which includes an elevator which should be completed by the end of April. I see that you showed concern about my staff being a little unprofessional. If you could call me at 775 623 6999 ro write to me at to discuss it I would appreciate it. I always look forward hearing from my guests on how I can make a guest stay better. We appreciate the time it took you to let us know your concerns, and look forward to hearing from you.

"Probably the best thing going in Winnemucca"

Anna H, San Francisco, United States 15/03/2016

I've stayed at the Best Western PLUS Gold Country Inn at least 3 times, and it's generally worth the price. They have friendly staff, are pet-friendly, and really are the best that Winnemucca has to offer. If you are traveling through Nevada and need a place to stay, I'd say that this should be at the top of your list. It's not a beautiful hotel, but in the wilds of NV, sometimes "functional" and "friendly" are the best you can hope for. Also, the hotel is close to the Winnemucca Inn, which has a 24-hour restaurant and some decent slot machines, if that interests you.

Lydie L, Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
I want to thank you for taking the time to review our hotel in Trip Advisor. It is appreciated. It is always a pleasure to have guests return and to hear them tell others what we are doing to make their stay a pleasant one. We are in the process of updating our lobby and adding an elevator and the next time you are in town, hopefully our project will be completed and I'll be able to hear how you feel about the improvements.

"Very nice place in Winnemucca."

We enjoyed our stay. The location is convenient, with just a short walk through the parking lot for dinner at the Winnemucca Inn. Our room was on the front, facing the main road, but we had no problems with road noise. Our 2nd floor room was clean, quiet, and spacious (single king). First floor rooms are “pet friendly,” so if you are allergic to pet hair request a non-pet room. They are adding an elevator (work in progress as of 2/15/2016) so access to the 2nd floor will be improved. Our bathroom area had 2 sinks, and was very clean. The lobby (bright and spacious) also serves as the breakfast area. The breakfast is the standard fare, nothing special, but fine for what we like.

"Nice Hotel"

User 21/02/2016

The Rooms are Big and lots of space, Beds are very comfortable. The high speed internet is good, I think they understate there breakfast it is typical best western, Hot eggs and sausage usually, and breakfast sandwiches that can be heating all the usual's. there website does not advertise this well enough.

"Very nice"

User 20/02/2016

We pulled in late after a very long bay of driving.the lady at the front desk was very nice polite and helpful. The room was awesome very clean. Bed was very comfortable. The only thing wrong with the room was the driect tv was out. The breakfast area was very small no room to fix your plate and everything was packed into a very small place.

"Good value - large room"

chazkat, Loveland, Colorado 18/02/2016

Hotel was having remodeling done, but lobby and room were very clean. Complimentary hot breakfast with scrambled eggs sausage and much more. Very tasty. Room was large and quiet. Convenient to restaurants and services.

"A gem in the desert!"

Reginald S, California, United States 17/02/2016

Great friendly staff - check in easy! My room was okay size and a big window so lots of natural light. It was nice and quiet. Shower was good and hot. Wi-Fi worked excellently. There is food opportunities with in walking distance. I was able to park my big rig across the road behind the casino no problems. I left super early and didn't get to have breakfast.

"Pleasant surprise in Winnemucca"

Melody S, Portland, Oregon 07/02/2016

While traveling home we stopped to spend the night in Winnemucca. We chose to stay at the Best Western based on price and were happy with our choice. The lobby is very nicely appointed and inviting with a stone fireplace and a huge chandelier. The breakfast area is located in the lobby and is filled with light from huge windows. Breakfast was a notch above the standard breakfast you get at other motels. Many of the usual items but prepared better and tastier. The room itself was large and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

"Clean and comfy"

TiredTrotter, London 24/01/2016

It's a half way house between full scale hotel and motel, but it's done very well. There's a pool and hot tub and a business centre. But not a restaurant or bar (you have to walk to nearby retail park to get these). Room was spacious, clean and well appointed. It was , as advertised, quiet. Front desk staff seemed helpful and welcoming. Happy to recommend as a decent budget accommodation.

"This is one of my favorite hotels on the planet!"

Marmorata, Oregon 12/01/2016

OK, I sound like Goldie Locks...but this place is just right for me! I travel a lot. This place is super clean, comfortable, friendly, quiet, accommodating---and not too much. Lots of small extras and without a lot of fanfare. They do a good job. Stay there.

"Not as good as before"

Kashic, Kelowna 10/01/2016

Our first stay here in five years - in 2010 we found it OK, but things have not gotten better. Our room smelt heavily of cigarette smoke, there was no fan in the bathroom and the coffee maker didn't work. Breakfast was also a bit disappointing: there was no fruit and all the tables (the place was not busy) were dirty. As before, the bed was adequate and the location is good. There are better places to stay, though, in Winnemucca.

Lydie L, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn. When the hotel was built, exhaust fans were not put in the bathrooms and unfortunately for some of our guests that is an issue. I am surprised that you did not find any fruit for our breakfast as we always have red apples, green apples and bananas both in the breakfast area and on the reception desk. I see that you were also unhappy with the breakfast and the dirty tables. If you would call me at 775 623 6999 so we can discuss this and I can find out when you stayed here, it would make it easier for me to find out what was going on and why you were not able to get a clean table much less no fruit. I could also find out what room you were in, as we only have 6 smoking rooms, and I would be able to see why a working coffee maker was not made available to you and why your room had a strong odor. If you made the front desk aware that the coffee maker was not in working order, they are to immediately provide a new one. I am sorry that you experienced these issues while you were a guest at my hotel, and you can rest assured that I will be looking into the situation to see what happened and why you experienced a lack of service. It is disappointing to learn that you're unhappy, and I want to rectify that to make sure that all my guests are receiving the quality of service they deserve.

"Nice stop for weary travelers"

vinfan, Napa Valley, CA 10/01/2016

Winnemucca is an unlikely vacation destination, but a likely stopping point for travelers heading west or east on I-80. This Best Western is attractive and comfortable, from its lobby to the clean and spacious rooms. The rooms are well equipped with fridge, microwave, flat-screen TV and table and chairs. Wifi, of course, but extras like nice bath amenities and a pet blanket for those traveling with dogs. Breakfast, included, is adequate, although coffee too weak. (Note to management: try Starbucks.)

Lydie L, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for reviewing us on Trip Advisor. It is always gratifying to know that our performance and quality of service is appreciated. I am grateful you took the time to let us know of your satisfaction. I am sorry that you were unhappy with the quality of our coffee. We try to strike a balance between a weaker coffee and a stronger coffee to meet the needs of the majority of our guests. As a heavy coffee drinker, I certainly can understand your disappointment on the fact that the coffee was not strong enough.

Henry F, Hyde Park, United States 10/01/2016

I was using the room to sleep only, I was leaving before the breakfast would be served and didn't use any of the amenities not even the coffee maker. They refused to discount the room and told me I could go down the road for a cheaper room. I have been a BW member for many years, this shocked me.

Lydie L, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Gold Country Inn, responded to this review

"Comfortable room, quiet area, pleasant breakfast area and ok selection"

BrianTravelholic, Wisconsin 30/12/2015

The room was large and so was the bed -- both comfortable. Liked the two sinks approach -- one inside and one outside the toilet. Internet was free and speeds ok. Breakfast area was large and pleasant with a gas fireplace to add ambiance to the snow outside.

"Large clean room w/ Double Sinks"

beachfanjan, Ontario, Oregon 20/12/2015

Nice, large room with adequate mobile device/computer plug ins. The decor was average, but having 2 separated sinks was a plus. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, extra table and easy chair was convenient for spreading out. This hotel had the best and quietest heating system of the 4 Best Westerns I stayed at this week. The only slightly irritating thing was the buzz from the florescent bulbs in the inside bathroom.

"Beyond Expectations"

User 18/12/2015

Our room was spotless and smelled fresh and clean. The room was very modern and unbelievable attention to detail such as Bath &Body amenities. Exceptionally quiet we never heard a sound . Curved shower curtain and large, thick towels were a welcome and appreciated surprise. Friendly, helpful staff, the maintenance man saw my husband struggling and helped him. Fantastic breakfast with staff paying exceptional attention to the breakfast bar and its needs. I have never stayed at a BW Plus to these even higher, fantastic standards!

"best option in town"

User 06/12/2015

Get away from the cigarette smoke in the Casinos. This hotel is advertised as convenient, quiet and comfortable and it is all three. Great cozy lobby area where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and sit by the fire. Wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in town.

"Old and dirty and unfriendly"

dibSlc, Bend, Oregon 04/12/2015

I feel like I've missed something with all these great reviews. Admittedly, we were here after the holiday week, so maybe they were "struggling", but the staff was aloof (bordering unfriendly) at check-in, completely ignored us at breakfast (looked like she was surfing the net) while we all stood around waiting for a seat. There was debris (string, dirt clumps a spot of barfy looking substance) on the carpeting throughout the hallways and stairwells (on, no elevator either, so we had to lug my kids' massive suitcase up the stairs). It appeared as if a vacuum had not been run in several days. The carpet in our room was disgusting. It had several stains, was warped (bubbled in numerous places to the point one might even trip) and torn to shreds in several spots. There was dirt and dust in every corner of every room (including the hallways). The bathtub was gross - including a bathtub ring that looked like some dirty kids had used it last and it hadn't been washed since. Either that (or in addition to) it is just so old and stained it looks dirty in which case it should be replaced. The breakfast area had 3 chairs per table and only a few tables despite PLENTY of space to add more chairs and tables (not to mention the Christmas decor that was blocking half the room). Even those families that grabbed a table didn't have enough chairs to actually sit. I saw an elderly women sitting with her breakfast at the internet kiosk (you'd think a seated patron would have offered her a seat, but apparently the clientele here is sub-par too). We ate our breakfast standing up. It was a typical hot BW breakfast of eggs and sausage with various other items to choose from. The wi-fi barely worked in our room, although given that we were upstairs at the end of the hall, it may be that we were out of range. Normally, I don't "dock" a place because of this, but given everything else, I thought I'd mention it. My husband had stayed here several times and seems to think it's pretty good. I stayed here once a decade or so ago, and recall it was decent. He admitted though that this particular stay was "below average". I think it was just awful, particularly given the price charged. I only gave it a 2nd star for my hubby.

ColonelLarrySanJose, San Jose 02/12/2015

The hotel is a convenient and well run facility. They are pet friendly with all pets in one section of the first floor. If you have mobility challenges, be advised there is no elevator. Internet is dependable and the complimentary breakfast is fine. Flavored hazelnut coffee is quite good.

"Content Travelor"

Nancy & David H, Winnemucca, NV, United States 30/11/2015

The location was great. It was pet friendly; hot coffee, tea, cocoa, and a hot breakfast, if you choose. Small refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave in room. Pet area outside not far away from where we stayed.

"great people and place"

User 23/11/2015

the hotel and people were 100% awesome, great value for the location and ease of getting in and out, the staff were very kind and helpful. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. would, and will stay here again, thank you in advance.

"Great hotel!"

AMFugit, Moab, Utah 19/11/2015

Whats not to love about this place! Check-In was very quick and the staff was super friendly! The room was very spacious and I loved the extra seating. I also loved the vanity outside the bathroom with the large closet and mirrors. The room was also really clean and well kept.

"Best in Winnemucca"

Victoria K, Eagan, Minnesota 13/11/2015

We stayed at the Best Western one night on our way to California. It is easy to find located of the main street going through town about midway so close walking to local casinos & restaurants. We knew when we booked it was two floors and no elevator we didn't think that would be a problem for us but is was a hassle when you are carrying suitcases & a cooler up two flights of stairs. The pictures of the lobby & rooms on their website are spot on. We had a couch, coffee table, desk, refrig, microwave(small) and large window. The room was clean, bed was nice & bathroom clean. The vanity is located right across from the mirrored closet so it was a little tight with two people trying to get ready and there was very little vanity counter space. There was plenty of parking and the lot was well lit. The only thing wrong was the pictures of the fitness center on line are not the hotels. The fitness center is a Fitness Center behind the hotel across the street in a strip mall. Although hotel guest have free access it was not really convenient to walk outside around the hotel, through a parking lot and cross a street to get to the strip mall to share a fitness center with the public. Besides that the staff was very friendly & accommodating.

"Dog Friendly"

AboveEarth, Seattle 09/11/2015

We travel with our dog, which limits our options. Best Western is usually a good choice, however. This property was Ok, but below average, in my experience of Best Western. Friendly, clean and dry. What more is needed?

"Second stay in 4 years"

bce99, Stuart, Florida 05/11/2015

This hotel was our second stay in 4 years and it was still one of the best hotels for an overnight stay. We were traveling east from California to Florida and having stayed there once, we wondered if it would be as good as our original experience. It turns out it was! Since we travel with our dogs, we enjoyed the nice grassy areas for them. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable providing us with a comfortable quiet nights sleep. The area has a few casinos, restaurants and a supermarket nearby

"Great choice!"

Judy B, Anchorage, Alaska 02/11/2015

We were just passing through and didn't need anything but a good nights sleep. This Best Western more than met our expectations. We had a large clean and comfortable room with extra seating. And they seemed to have tried to think of many of the little things that make travel more pleasant. Padded carpeting for those of us that may do exercise on the floor. Instant hot water - particularly important in these times of drought. Two sinks - one in and one out of the shower space. A magnifying mirror and hair dryer. A very good one-cup coffee maker (not a Keurig style). And of course breakfast was included.

"Winnemucca Best western Review"

Phillip B, McKinleyville, United States 30/10/2015

Spacious room, no problems at all. Everything worked, was clean, and in like new condition. I always check for the Gideon's Bible and it was indeed there. We feasted on a great breakfast in the lobby area which saved us the price of breakfast and time to relocate at some other restaurant. Parking was spacious, convenient, and well lit in the evening.

Larkmont, Santa Clara County, CA 28/10/2015

An older Best Western. It was quite and the room clean. As with Best Western the beds are quite comfortable. If you gamble there is a casino next door. The staff was quite friendly. The AC was quite a plus for light sleepers

"Great place in Winnemucca"

Joanna B, Magna, Utah, United States 27/10/2015

We just needed a place to stay on our way elsewhere, but the Gold Country Inn was so much more. Very nice room, great towels, comfortable bed. It is NOT a casino, so there was the added benefit of no smoke smell or noise of a gambling environment. Breakfast was standard fare, but nice.

"Passin through"

William M, Rio Vista, CA, United States 24/10/2015

Just happened to end up in Winnemucca for the night, this Best Western was closest to where I could park my tractor / trailer . The room and whole place was excellent! Everything was top shelf quality. Very quiet room, plush pillow top bed, all amenities in the room were top quality. Just like I was at home. Can't go wrong with this one.

"Nice, clean, and pet friendly"

Cathy C, Olympia, Washington 23/10/2015

We have stayed in Winnemucca before when traveling through. We tried the Best Western this time and were so glad we did. We had a lovely room that was well appointed with everything we needed. They even had an extra sheet folded for our dog's use. The lobby was attractive, the check-in staff was friendly and efficient, and the breakfast was good. What more could one ask for?

"Gold Country Best Western Winnemucca, NV"

Jan F, Meridian, United States 20/10/2015

I have been staying here for the past 11 years. I travel alone most times from Idaho to California to visit family. I feel safe, comfortable, & welcomed at this hotel. I like that I can see my car from my room and there is a covered parking entry when I check in. They do accommodate pets, however, I have never noticed any odors in my rooms. The breakfast is wonderful and the attendant keeps it stocked and fresh.

"Wonderful stay, very pet friendly hotel"

Brenda L, Salida, Colorado 20/10/2015

We spent 1 night here on our way to and Oregon and again on the way home. Love this hotel! Very pet friendly. Great breakfast in the morning with eggs, sausage, rolls, cereal, yogurt, variety of juices, and waffles. They also give coupons to the casino next door for $$$ off drinks or food. No elevator, but very, very clean and comfortable queen size beds. I highly recommend the place. The casino next door offers good food and a really good salad bar.

Jkmb26, Highland, Utah, United States 19/10/2015

We comfortably fit 6 people. The rooms were clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast was poor. The croissants were moldy and when we showed the attendant she took the tray of them away. We will stay here again, but we will have breakfast somewhere else.

"First Visit"

Tsunamisam, Seattle, Washington 18/10/2015

Nice external appearance---clean inside and non-smoking, tight breakfast service area causes congestion---room very nice and quiet---casino next door if you like has a nice restaurant and parking area is close by and no elevator....I recommend this motel.....

"It is Winnemucca so what can you say...."

BabyBoomerNorCal, Mendocino, California 18/10/2015

It is a Best Western and as such is predictable. Don't get me wrong I stay at Best Western all the time. I am just not sure what makes a Best Western a Best Western Plus. When I went to check in I had to find the front desk clerk who wad in front of the TV in the lobby to get her to help me. The room was clean and well stocked, no complaints there. The breakfast in the morning was standard fair, nothing special and certainly nothing that would denote this facility as a "plus". All and all it was fine, A place ot stay in Winnemucca on the way to somewhere else.

"Good Respite"

Rob P, Ventura 16/10/2015

This hotel is conveniently located and well maintained. Rooms are clean and the bathrooms are newly refurbished. Staff is friendly. We had our dog with us and there are plenty of places to walk. This hotel was built before ADA so there are no elevators. Advice re first floor was helpful. Best pet rooms are in the 180 block of rooms on first floor. Small patio area opens up to a large grassy area, great for pets.

"Great place and a very good staff running the hotel"

uc4300, Fresno, California 16/10/2015

Had a group there two different days and the staff was very helpful to everyone. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the breakfasts were also very good. Lydie the manager was great to work with and she made sure that everything was perfect for our group.

"Best Western Winnemucca"

luvgrumpy, Fremont, California 15/10/2015

Didn't know the area at all, so always go with Best WEstern and glad we did. Looking around, seemed like a lot of run down hotels. This best western was very clean and nice. Front desk very welcoming, which always is a great start. Usual breakfast items, which is perfect if you just don't feel like going out.

"Beautiful Quiet Place to Stay"

Tina K, Madrid, Spain 14/10/2015

The lobby was beautifully decorated. My room was modern, very clean and comfortable. I was on the first floor facing the front parking lot. My room was very quiet. I was not disturbed by anyone or even traffic in the parking lot or on the road in front of the hotel. That was a bit of a surprise. I will definitely stay here again on my travels through Nevada.

"For Winnemucca, I guess it's one of your best options"

DuffyMo, Rocklin, CA 11/10/2015

Leisure travel with dogs. It was a big room, furniture dated. When you walked in, there was a definite odor, which they seemed to try to cover up with a Febreze-type spray or something. It was bothersome for a time until I guess I got used to it! Nice to have 2 sinks. VERY clean shower! Lots of mirrors so you could see yourself. On the ground floor, so easy to get the pooches out to do their thing, and they had pet grassy areas with bags to help. Also very nice that there was no individual A/C unit for each room, which made it much quieter as you don't have to hear the unit cycling on and off all night! Decent breakfast included. Glass Glasses!

"best stay"

Greg B, janesville, United States 11/10/2015

I called and resevered a room at the last minite. every thing went better then expected. My stay was short, however it was the best i ever had at a hotel. it's easy this is the one to choose. The room was larger then most hotels i stay at, it was clea and had a fresh apperance. My wife was with me and she was tototally impressed

"Traveling with pets"

FRANK A, Boise 08/10/2015

We normally stay at Best Westerns, but this time we had pets. Best Western Winnemucca said no problem and even provided pet bedspreads. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good and appreciated as well. Definitely will stay here again if traveling this way.

"Great place"

James M, Lewiston, United States 03/10/2015

This is are place to stay every time we go to Oakhurst, CA. We had deer in the yard the first couple of days. Very pleasant staff. Very safe place to stay. Rooms are large and arranged perfectly. We never even look at other places to stay. Totally satisfied and recommend Golden Counrtry Inn to every one. Plus we get Best Western points with our Best Western card.

"A keeper in my book!"

User 02/10/2015

From the moment we walked in the lobby this place was perfection! The staff was friendly, the room clean and spacious (which was a bonus when it came to my sister's walker). The free breakfast was diverse covering everything from breakfast biscuts to my fave greek yogurt! Will stay here again on the trip back home!

"Best Motel in Nevada"

Vernon S, Livermore, United States 28/09/2015

If driving through on Highway 80, Don"t equivocate just call and reserve a room at the Best Western PLUS Gold Country Inn, Winnemucca, Nevada. You won't go wrong. Enjoy! Additionally, they serve top rated breakfast that is free for guests at the hotel. Don't miss your opportunity.

"Close, but no cigar"

David P, Idaho 28/09/2015

For $120 bucks a night, you don't get your moneys worth. We've stayed with Gold Country Inn a half dozen times while passing through Nevada. Most of the hotels in Winnemucca suck, Gold Country Inn happens to suck less than others. Too bad they're overpriced for what you get. Rooms are clean, service staff is mediocre, breakfast is disappointing.
