The hotel was clean, and I felt safe. Sometimes a hotel off the highway can be sketchy, but this one has a great location for ease of getting where we wanted. I felt safe, and I was happy how clean it was. The breakfast was plenty for a breakfast bar; it was enough for me. We will probably come back next year.
Everything was wonderful from super easy check in with friendly staff to my room. If you want to be close to Rend Lake, this is the place to stay! Room was clean, the place was quiet, the bed was wonderful. The breakfast was good and the coffee hot!
The bed and pillows were comfortable. They provided lots of towels and the room was clean. We stayed (my husband and I) on the 2nd floor. The 2-floor hotel is an isolated, beautiful area near Rend Lake. The hotel needs an update. No workout room.
The only reason I chose this hotel was the area. I was traveling home and this was within our driving limit timewise. The hotel was a no-frills hotel and I knew that going in but hoped it would be better. The carpet was stained up. The air conditioner sent out mold fumes and made my asthmatic son cough. The bathroom door stuck shut if fully closed and you couldn't get out without someone else pulling it open. The breakfast was very sparse and even though they had donuts from a bakery, the donuts were dry and stale. The check in and check out ladies were friendly.
Although we have had previous acceptable stays at Surestay in Whittington, my wife and I will not likely return. For no good reason, we were assigned to a "pet friendly" room, which, in this case, meant it reeked of wet dog, and no other rooms were available (despite a reservation many weeks in advance). The room was clean and functional -- except for the carpet, which was filthy enough to make feet quickly dirty when walking around. The room also had ants, which persisted throughout our four-night stay despite a request for assistance on the first night. These annoyances are too much for us to tolerate when management seems entirely unconcerned.
The room was one of the best hotel rooms I've stayed in. The bathroom looked brand new, everything was very clean, the mattress was SO comfortable. The Staff was very personable and helpful - enjoyed meeting them.
Location is good as it is just off the interstate and the hotel is very clean. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Room was very comfortable and spacious.
I booked this hotel after I saw it ranked as a 9 on TA and 4.4 on google. I was hoping I might find a "diamond in the rough". Honestly I don't know how they got the ranking they did. We were traveling with a small dog so we had to choose a dog friendly motel. As such we end up staying in many Red Roof Inns. I would rank this motel as an average Red Roof. Certainly nothing higher than that. Room was good sized but not particularly clean. We selected a "pet room" from the app which was the same cost as the std room and they didn't charge us any extra for the dog at check in which was nice. Breakfast was just adequate. There aren't many motels along this section of I-57 so if you have to stay in the area at least its quite. But I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again.
Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable enough. The bed tended to roll me to the middle, but not badly. The paper dispenser in our bathroom is pulling away from the wall -- a minor repair job that could be quickly done. The hotel had experienced a burst pipe, so repairs were underway, but the crew members were as accommodating as they could be. Breakfast was short on hot foods and protein, but there were several carbohydrate options.
Very happy with our room! The cleanliness was top notch which is super important to me. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Plenty of towels. Climate control system worked well. Pleasant staff. It was nice and quiet. I would give 5 stars, but the breakfast could have been better-very limited and no sweet rolls. Also the hair dryer was very wimpy. A plus…..a friendly outside cat named Oliver was there to greet us! Would definitely stay again if in the area.
The staff was amazing and the continental breakfast was good! Lots of things to do in the area. Rend Lake is beautiful and worth discovering. I highly suggest a stay here and they even have a greeter named Oliver!
The receptionist was very good at cleaning and making we were comfortable. She clean the floors in the hallway and the entrance, plus she had breakfast ready at five in the morning Thanks Renado Robinson
see previous comments room had unpleasant odor. carpet looked like it needed to be replaced. and the dripping sound very audible comming inside the wall between the bed area and the bathroom wall prevented me from sleeping. you could hear water running down from the room above.
Chose the hotel as it was 1/2 way between our two stops. Slept ok until someone was above us and they turned on their ac. Then drip drip drip on our window. Room was ok, nothing nearby to eat, had to go 5 miles to next town for dinner. It was ok, but probably would not return.
Eggs are rubbery. No waffles. Not enough food laid out. No hot tea. No variation of foods if you are staying longer than 1 day. The reception staff try to help but because of their lack hospitality skills come off standoffish.
The weather in December was so bad that we didn't travel this past year. With everyone's schedules it took 6 months before everyone could get together. The weather was completely different from December from snow to real heat. Great trip.
Excellent value and comfortable rooms. Just off of I-57, but very quiet. Everything was clean and spotless. Breakfast was the usual hotel free breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, and fruit. Not much immediately around except for a gas station next door, but a quick 8 minute drive down to Benton has everything you need.
This hotel is clean and has a great staff. The manager goes above and beyond if ask too. We always have a great stay when we are here. they do need to update beds though the beds are so soft with the mattress topper attached to the mattress.
We needed a place for the night that was pet friendly. This was a convenient place for one night. We were happy to find it right off I57 right at our exit, so it was convenient. And the rate was better than the hotel in Marion (which wasn't pet friendly anyway).
Very clean and comfortable. Friendly personnel. TV and heat worked well. Not much around - except a gas station. Good breakfast. Near a state park. If you want a meal - you probably have trive a few miles.
exactly as advertised, fairly clean premises, much cleaner than several bw or holiday inns we stayed at in six week road trip, basic breakfast choices, close to freeway, get your food in Benton beforehand, not much nearby
This was my first time staying here and I would stay again. It is clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. It right off of I57 which was convenient. It is also close to Rend Lake which is beautiful to see. Highly recommend!
Hotel prices have gone way up, so it was pretty fine to find this conveniently located motel with clean rooms and complete basic services. I don't need the embellishments provided by some other well-regarded chains.
Stayed here on the way to Kentucky. Easy check in, decent price for 2 queen beds. Very clean room! Great water pressure! Decent breakfast! It was a good stay! A lot better price that staying in Mt Vernon. Convenience store next door to gas up in the morning.
Everything was perfect. The front desk was helpful and friendly. The rooms and entire premises was immaculately clean. I was so so impressed. Beds were comfy. Highly highly recommend. We stay in hotels 40 plus times a year and this one was the best for cleanliness. Breakfast was much better then most as well.
The hotel works fine for a quick stop. Clean room, comfortable bed, and decent shower. The hair dryer did not have a lot of power, I regretted washing my hair. The breakfast was ok. Waffles always work, but I did not like the eggs. I would stay here again if passing thru.
Hotel was clean with friendly very helpful staff. Hotel is right off the highway with plenty of parking for those with a boat, in order to have plug inside to keep the batteries charged. There is a gas station right across the street. Just minutes from many boat launches on Rend Lake.
SureStay was very clean, comfortable, our room was spacious, just right for our needs. Cleaning Staff awesome in accommodating need for towel replacements. All staff excellent customer service. Already have next reservations made.
This was an exceptional hotel, a jewel just outside of St. Louis, MO. We needed a place to stay while traveling because my husband was feeling well. When we checked in, we tested him for COVID and he tested positive. I had to distance from him and stayed in our camper van while he rested in the room. I spent a lot of time in the lobby, doing laundry and using the bathroom in the lobby. The staff appreciated us telling them that my husband had COVID and showed a great deal of compassion for our predicament being so far away from home (oregon) and in the middle of cross country trip. They checked in frequently, asking how my husband and I were doing and offering any support they could. Really appreciate their care and how immaculately clean the facility was.
We stopped here on Sunday night, July 3. The hotels that we usually book in the area were full, so we tried a new one. Very satisfied. The hotel was very new. It looked as if they were putting the final touches on it. Regardless, staff was ready for visitors. Rooms were large. We had two queen beds. Very comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out. Shower and vanity were exceptional. Breakfast area seemed small but was adequate for the number of guests present. Would definitely stop here again.
Room was clean and building was well maintained. Breakfast selection was good with hot and cold items. Unfortunately, I left a couple items in room when we checked out, but the staff safely stored them until I was able to return several days later to retrieve them.
Great budget motel. Very clean, nice staff, convenient to the highway. The bed was one of the best hotel beds I have slept in! I usually have a hard time sleeping in hotels but not here! The only drawback is the lack of food nearby. I would recommend eating before you get there or go next door for a pizza. Avoid Bernard's down the road. Will stay here again!
I rate hotels based on what they are. The quality of the room at this location was very good for the price -- better than some places I have stayed that cost much more. It was reasonably quiet, and the staff were friendly. The temperature control was adequate, and the bed was comfortable. When we return to the area, we're likely to stay here again!
Room was musty, damp, smelled terrible. A staff person was available and she gave me some room spray. There were dehumidifiers in the hallway which were working and the hallway was dry and no odors, but my room 117 was terrible. Also, the front desk person (ok, she was new), didn't seem to know what she was doing. I had no idea how to get to my room and then when I did, the door going outside was never locked. Anyone could walk in there. Breakfast choices pretty minimal. Coffee yuck...
We were passing through the region and this place was quite nice and suited our needs perfectly. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. The mattress was comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. It is several cuts above a typical interstate adjacent motel.
Everything was supper and all of the staff were superb, was able to have our small dog with us and we were positioned so we did not have to go far to take the dog out to relieve himself. I would highly recommend this facility.
Best place to stay in the area. Very clean and comfortable. The staff is great! We enjoyed the waffles and other breakfast treats. Having been new to the area was not a problem we felt right at home. we were pleasantly surprised with how nice and clean the room was.
We stayed here while on a weekend fishing trip with another couple. Both rooms were clean, and beds were comfortably soft with plenty of pillows. Staff was helpful and friendly. Definitely would recommend to any one and we our selves will stay here again when fishing on Rend Lake.
Very nice and clean stay. Simple breakfast, but plenty to fill you up to hit the road. Very quite community with a beautiful lake for fishing. This was an overnight stay while heading to another destination.
Would say it is as nice a Motel that there is to stay at anywhere. Really liked the rooms the staff was very friendly and helpful rooms were clean and very nice. Good location to the lake and only minutes from good places to eat.
I called ahead to make sure I could bring my dog. He was very welcome and the staff even had a treat for him at check in. The room was very clean and comfortable! This was the best stay on my entire trip! I will stay here again. Thank you for taking such good care of us!!
I stayed here while traveling between Florida and Wisconsin, it was right off the highway. Hotel was very clean and well kept. Staff was exceptional. Breakfast was minimal, but all options were delicious. Bang for buck was more than I expected, will absolutely be staying there in the future.
Beds are always comfortable! Rooms are always clean! Breakfast is good. Staff is always accommodating. Location is beautiful! Sometimes it's a bit noisy, Probably because it's always busy, and that's a great thing!
This hotel is no frills, but everything was clean and very comfortable. We actually chose it due to other guest ratings and went 15 miles out of our way to get there. We were thrilled to find it lived up to its ratings. We had a first floor room and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Shower worked well. The room had a separate sink area vs. toilet/shower room which is very convenient for sharing, and the heater worked well and quietly. They do accept animals, and although we heard a dog bark or two nearby from the hall, we did not hear them in our room.
I enjoyed my stay at Whittington, the facility is clean, and s affordable. The staff is friendly and helpful. For those who are in the area to enjoy Rend Lake, the location is convenient. There is a bait shop, gas station, and fish cleaning station next door. We enjoy the Pheasant Hollow winery across the road. The distance to Mt. Verno is only about 15 miles.
Great little place for the weekend, right by the lake. Across the parking lot is a bait and tackle shop, a gas station/convenience store. A mini fridge and microwave is in the room, a nice breakfast bar and coffee is available. Great little place
Clean, comfortable, well lighted inside and outside, very easy access. Staff very helpful. Easy check in/check out. Easily made new reservations needed. Doors were difficult for me to get luggage cart out the door to my car and the attendant helped me so much with this.
I've stayed at this hotel numerous times. The Hotel is very clean. The staff have always been nice and accommodating. Coffee available anytime. Definitely recommend this place to stay. Comfortable beds
The SureStay is an excellent stay and value as a roadside motel. I recently drove cross country and this was the best quality sleep I had the whole trip. The location is very convenient to the highway, but with very little road noise. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend it.
Was too hot to camp so resorted to hotel lodging. Was a nice last minute stay. Service and staff was friendly and accommodating. Location was great, right off the highway. Room was a little run down but it got the job done!
I called ahead for room availability. Evening staff person was pleasant with 2 room choices available. I was pleased with a refrigerator in the quiet room, nice breakfast, and good coffee in the morning.
Upon opening our room door we were met with extremely hot air. It was 90 degrees outside and I guarantee the inside matched that temperature. It took at least two hours to get the room cool enough to fall asleep. There were also holes in the comforters that were poorly sewn back together instead of being replaced. They should consider putting a key entry at the other entrances fro safety.
This is a fine lodging establishment! It is a small, limited service hotel, that works just fine if your reason for being in the area takes you out and away from the place you're sleeping & showering. Adequate breakfast, clean rooms and common areas, friendly staff, and fine water pressure for showers. It has a close proximity to Pheasant Hollow Winery, Rend Lake, Benton and the surrounding areas. A modern place to stay, in a somewhat rustic area. If you know what's normal for this price point in lodging, you'll be pleased. You should book a night to come enjoy, after you finish reading this!
Nice Hotel off the beaten path. Very Easy to get to. Truck parking. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Good beds and pillows. Front desk check in ladybwas very helpful and friendly. Don't always find that at hotels.
Unfortunately, thought the staff were very friendly, there was a terrible rotten egg smell that got worse throughout the evening. Several of us complained and the staff was receptive but they clearly didn't know what it was or how to fix it. Would guess that there is a sewer gas issue at this location.
Staff was very nice and helpful with anything needed. The room was great, bed was comfortable. The breakfast had a good variety of things to choose from. I would stay here again, the staff was just wonderful and made you feel welcome!
Wow, a hidden gem!! Very clean and friendly staff. Beds were comfortable and room was super clean. Very quiet, I never heard anyone in the hallway. Shower had shampoo, conditioner and body wash on the wall. Rooms had microwave and mini fridges. Plug-ins on the lamp by bed. Had my favorite vanilla coffee creamer pump and coffee was hot. Slept in and missed breakfast since the beds were so comfortable after a long day driving.
The Whittington Best Western was great. Rooms were clean and the hotel was quiet. Air conditioner worked great. The shower was strong and plenty of hot water. Beds were great, very comfortable. The entire hotel was clean and well maintained. I will stay here again when in the area.
We stayed at the Best Western Sure Stay in Whittington while attending a United Kennel Club dog competition. All the members of our group were beyond pleased with the accomodations and hospitality at this hotel.
We were, heading on vacation with our 2 dogs.We always stay at this hotel on our way to Florida. It's clean, perfect place for dogs and was very covid safe.We always stay at Best Western hotels and actually plan our trip around it.Thankyou Best Western Hotels. Dr TK
I take it that this place is fairly new. We had a quiet room with easy access to the dog area. Unfortunately the light was not working for that area which made really hard to see anything. The breakfast in these COVID times was not that great. That honeybun stayed with me the entire day. The location is fine. The Philips station next door gets lots of traffic, but if you keep the window closed, it's fine. There were a couple of restaurants less than a mile away. There was a decent trail on the lake just across the interstate. Start near the cemetery.
I give 5 stars based on the lady at the front desk she was great and even signed me up for the rewards benefits. Hotel was also cleaned. I would definitely stay here again if ever traveling thru that way again!
Located just off I57 exit 77 and far enough from the interstate to be quiet. I stay here often Clean rooms and nice staff. Close to Rend lake with great fishing. This is a new smaller two story hotel with a concrete parking lot with easy access.
It was everything I needed when I needed it. Great staff and great room features and outstanding quality for the price. As a driver, sometimes you just want to stretch out, shower, and stay close to the roads you're traveling -- this spot is the perfect location. I would definitely recommend it to my fellow travelers out there.
Great place to stay, we've stayed at this hotel many times, it's always clean and comfortable. Convenient location just off Highway near Rend Lake, IL. Has a gas station and bate shop nextdoor for convenience as well as restaurants, windery and bars close by.Has a good breakfast to start your day. Staff is great, always friendly and helpful!
The room is big. The fridge is big. The tv works great. The lights are really bright. The shower has dispensers which works better with all my hair to get enough conditioner. Towels are large. Microwave worked fine. Wonderful staff. My room was close to the vending/ice machine and I was concerned I'd be disturbed during the night but heard nothing. The place was quiet. I was ticked off they were pet friendly, but apparently they have pet only rooms. I think the only negative was there was no alarm clock. Slept great. I would definitely stay here again.
We booked this last minute and were not sure what to expect as I did not really investigate the area. We needed a pet-friendly hotel and a parking lot big enough to park our bass boat. They have a great space behind the hotel to park the boat with electrical hookups!! It was perfect. They have a nice little breakfast area with cereal, muffins, waffles, and great coffee! You can launch your boat right down the street about five minutes away. They have a bait shop and, gas station across the parking lot. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We will be back!
Our plans fell through and we had already gone past many hotels that could be seen from I 57. We fortunately saw a billboard and ended up at the SureStay. It was clean and comfortable. We felt very safe. The staff was very understanding when my cousin and I couldn't seem to keep our keys from being demagnetized This is a pet friendly motel, we didn't have a pet in the room but there was an option to check in with one. There is a gas station and Convenience store next door and very well stocked vending machines in the lobbies. The bathroom and bathtub were as good as my guest bathroom if not better, and supplied high quality person care items. They had gloves available for the lobby and breakfast room. I'd stay there anytime I'm in the area.
stayed 3 nights during fishing trip. Very nice and clean. Friendly staff. Beds comfortable. Even had grab and go breakfast which was great during the covid restrictions. Would stay at this hotel again.
Hotel was very clean, friendly staff, great smells! The bed was very comfortable. I stopped half way through an 8 hour trip, and felt completely rested to continue my journey the next morning. I will definitely stay again! And I couldn't beat the price. Thank you!!
This is probably the cleanest hotel I've stayed at in a long time! Staff was very friendly and professional!! The breakfast was great and the internet service was quick. I would recommend this property to anyone.
This hotel is a little hidden gem right by the rest stop. We had traveled over 18 hours and all hotels in the vicinity were showing sold out. We came across this one and I'm glad we did. Talk about excellent customer service! The hotel was very clean and it's pet friendly which was a bonus! Tammy at the front desk was by far one of my favorite front desk clerks in a long time. Little did she know I was actually a travel agent moving cross country. It's people like her who make traveling more enjoyable. I know I will recommend this hotel for any of my future clients who will be traveling in this area.
For a hotel in the middle of no where, I was shocked at the quality. It was clean, modern, and reasonably priced. I stay in hotels frequently and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in this year. The staff was friendly. Will definitely stay there again!
Clean, quiet and comfortable rooms. Staff was helpful with dining suggestions. We really appreciate the complimentary breakfast the hotel offers. There is a winery nearby with indoor/outdoor seating called Pheasant Hollow.
Very friendly atmosphere. Highly Halloween decorated lobby. Showed much interest in their Hotel. Will definitely try to stop here again on one of our trips from Nashville Lake of the Ozarks. Breakfast very good. Very quiet.
Definitely a 5 star hotel, the entire hotel is just immaculate. I highly recommend this hotel, if you are driving on I57 and want to stop and rest or if you are coming to fish at the Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park in Rend Lake, IL. Free continental breakfast, and coffee available all day. If you are traveling with your boat and trailer they have plenty of parking in the promises or in front of the hotel just for your trailer. I definitely will stay here next time we are in town for the Paralyzed Veterans of America B.A.S.S Tournament.
Wonderful, clean hotel with friendly staff. The beds are too soft for my liking but other than that, it's a great place to stay. Fishing is just 10 minutes away on Rend Lake as well as the State Park and golf course.
My experience could not have been better. The front desk went out of their way to make sure my experience was nothing but exceptional. I can't recommend this SureStay highly enough. I considered an AirBnb, but was pointed to this hotel by the local camp owner. I'm glad I listened! The service from the front desk was nothing short of outstanding. The night clerk that checked me in (around 4 AM) saw that was exhausted and me late checkout. I didn't even ask! I have never had that happen. I missed breakfast and came in as the young lady was cleaning up. She immediately offered to get me something. She brought out pancakes and sausage. I never would have expected such service. I offered her a tip for going above and beyond but she turned it down with a smile as if to say, “That's just part of my job, being awesome.”. The room was perfect and the bed was soooo comfy. Everything worked perfectly and was spotless. It felt like it was a new hotel or recently remodeled. I almost always use AirBnb, but this experience has opened my eyes to hotels again. The price was as good or better than what I saw on AirBnb. If there was a 10 star rating, I would give that.
Fantastic!!!!! Very comfortable beds. Excellent staff. Super Breakfast. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner supplied in pumps in shower. Highly recommended. Boat parking with electric hooks provided. pets allowed.
We came to town for a funeral. We had 6 total rooms for family. Hotel was very clean, lighting nice and bright, beds were very comfortable, and most of all staff were very friendly. Marlene & her front desk staff were excellent. Thank you for a nice stay.
My first time to stay at a SureStay. Reservation was complete; room was ready when I got there. Hotel desk clerk was very kind and efficient, offering to help with luggage. Room was very clean and room was nice and bright. I appreciated having the bright lights, available when I need to turn the lights up for reading and working on the IPhone. Also, had the capability of turning lights down low when just needed to relax and rest before going to sleep. Enjoyed the various channels on the TV. Checking out was speedy and clerk was very kind. She went ahead and set up my requested reservation for Labor Day weekend for 2020.
Clean. Price was good. Close to interstate. Not far from Du Quoin. Several room. They put on first floor which I really appreciated. If you like boating really nice lake they do have cabin there. I personal like a hotel.
We stopped here on a Wednesday evening for one night. Friendly staff and fair price. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The shower had a shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispenser, which was rather unique. We didn't want to drive any longer so we walked over the the gas station next door. They sell Krispie Krunchy chicken which is pretty good. We ate it at the picnic table outside. Our only concern was in the morning for breakfast, there was only one lady trying to check people out and maintain the breakfast area. She needed to be in two places at once! People had to wait about 20 minutes for her to restock the hot foods.
This hotel is very well-managed and has all the amenities that one needs when traveling. It is dog friendly with the $25 additional room fee. They have an adequate complementary breakfast in the morning. The staff is very nice. The rooms are large and the ability to get in and out of the hotel is very easy. It is by Lake Rend. There are not restaurants near the facility and one has to go to Benton on a Sunday night to get food Or to the convenience store at the gas station next-door. However there is a microwave and a refrigerator in the room
We came here on a whim to celebrate our 7th Anniversary. Very pleased with this place for lodging while pivoting around the area during the day. Clean, comfortable, nice staff, and a great price! If you're not a “camper” but you want to come enjoy the area, this is your place! Updated rooms, fresh towels with lots of life in them, good beds, and modern shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers in the shower (so much better than the little bottles that are still so common!) Great water pressure, large tubs, and wonderful location for all the south lake areas. If you're looking for a place, this is your place.
I was so happy with my stay at SureStay. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and it was a nice convenience having the dispensers in the shower that were filled with amazing smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The breakfast was simple, but everything was great! Having 3 picky kids, it can sometimes be difficult finding something they all like, but they all left with full tummies after breakfast! I would definitely stay here again!
It is well worth the effort to find this motel. The staff is kind and gracious very professional. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The breakfast while not overabundant was acceptable. Just 15 miles south of effingham good experience.
With just a two day visit to Rend Lake we were looking for a modern, clean hotel to spend the night. SureStay fit the bill in spades. Room was excellent, beds were very comfortable and staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definately stay at SureStay again on our next trip to bicycle at the lake!
My wife & I traveled a little over four hours from northern Illinois for the annual Cajun Festival @ Pheasant Hollow Winery. This was our first stay @ this property but definitely won't be our last! The staff was welcoming, friendly & efficient, the room was very clean & comfortable, & the breakfast about what I expected in the morning. Shower was exceptional in its pressure (loved the shampoo, conditioner & body was dispenser, by the way), the fridge & TV were good & bathroom facilities very clean & in great working order. Staff member recommended good restaurant nearby upon check-in & we ate there twice. Thank you! Can't wait to come back again!!
We stayed here for 2 nights while fishing at Rend Lake. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff is always friendly and very helpful, they even have a deep freezer to store your fish in. They have a separate lighted parking lot with electric to park your boat at for the night. The breakfast is pretty basic, yogurt, bagels, oatmeal, coffee, juice and some cereal but it was good. Every time we go up to Rend to fish this is where we stay.
The rooms are nice. It is not next to a lake. The restaurant is not on premises. We are on the way to Knoxville and stopped here for a night, thinking there was a restaurant and bar here and that it was on a lake. Not so. Plus the receptionist tried to direct us to the restaurant but failed, so we ate at another place. Nice to stay, but not worth the price given the chains around.
We got caught in tornado weather so being that we had been on road for about 10 hours already we decided to stay here. We first called the Comfort Inn and the person on the phone go frazzled when a group of people came through the door in the crazy weather. She took my number and said she would call right back. That never happened. So we continued on and found this place. The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel in all the years of travelling. The woman at the desk was absolutely wonderful. So kind and caring. There was a small continental breakfast with fruit, bagels, toast, cereal, and other simple basics. It worked for a quick start. The hotel was very clean and very quaint. I will definitely put this on my list of stops for future stays.
Stayed here while taking in events in DuQuoin and McCleansboro. The hotel caters to fisherman at Rend Lake with gas station, bait shop and small restaurant adjacent. Very clean and staff friendly. Desk clerk said "all forty rooms the same--two queen beds". I guess some customers wanted to be on the second floor, south side so they could overlook their boats in the boat cage. Breakfast area clean and comfortable but limited selection though fresh and well serviced. Excellent coffee. Breakfast hours 5:00am to 9:00 am. Illinois winery within walking distance. We had a very positive experience and might even plan to take in some Rend Lake activities (1/3 mile away) while there. Nice restaurants in Benton.
We called from the road looking for a place for the night and was lucky enough to come across this listing after a long google search, and after already being on the road for more than 10 hours. We were so glad we called. Olivia was more than awesome in booking our room and helping us with choosing a place to order dinner from while we were still on the road. Her wonderful hospitality continued after we checked in. The hotel was clean and quiet and our room, though fairly basic, was more clean and in better shape than any hotel in this price range that we've stayed in years. Our nightly rate was less than most "budget" hotels and it was so much nicer than almost any of them. I doubt our paths will cross again, but should they, this would definitely be our choice to stay!
