Best Western Plus Hotel White Bear Country Inn, White Bear Lake

I felt comfortable and safe during my stay and the staff was quite responsive to any needs or questions I had. A delicious continental breakfast was available with many choices. I ate at the restaurant a few times and the food was delicious, well priced, and you could tell by the full house on both weeknights that the locals agreed.

When I travel to Minnesota, I make it a point to stay at the BW White Bear Country Inn. The owner operator Bill F and his carefully selected staff go out of their way to make my stay trouble free. If there is something not to your liking just mention it and it is taken care of immediately. The location is fantastic. Right in the center of the town of White Bear Lake, the quaint downtown offers great food, entertainment, parks, and shopping. Being only a minutes walk to the lake, jogging paths, beaches, and great relaxing views are to be found. Try it, you will find the Inn a real gem in the Twin Cities. Even pet friendly!

great hotel, my kiddos loved the pool area and we enjoyed the comfortable beds and pool view from our room. staff was very kind and welcoming and the breakfast was delicious and easily accessible. my kiddos also loved eating breakfast by the pool!

What a lovely place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! After a very wonderful, indulgent meal at the adjoining Rudy's Red Eye Grill, we enjoyed the spacious room, comfortable bed, soft linens, and quiet setting of our third-floor room. In the morning, I took a dip in the warm saltwater pool (thank you for keeping it so warm!) and we appreciated the full service breakfast even though we were still full from dinner the night before! Great location in the heart of White Bear Lake with so much to enjoy including a walk along White Bear Lake and biking on the Gateway Trail. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay at the BW Plus White Bear Country Inn during our staycation. The owner does a great job of making everyone comfortable. Food at the rooftop and indoor restaurants is amazing and everyone working there does a great job to make sure everything is right.

We didn't actually stay here but I would like to leave a review. We were on a 3 week biking trip and planned on biking all day in Stillwater. Well, the rain gods had something to say about that. We were rained out about 1/2 hour into our ride. So we arrived at this hotel at 1:00 instead of much later. We had reservations in North MN the next day. Even though this hotel was nice enough to let us check in early, we asked if we could cancel and go north to outrun the rain. The nice lady at the front desk was very understanding and said no problem. I realize that she could have held us to our reservations since we were out of the cancellation time. So we really appreciate it. The hotel is very cute and we will be back next time in Minnesota! Thanks again

Clean wonderful comfy beds great service amazing pool I wld absolutely recommend anybody to stay one of the best places I have stayed at. They welcome dogs in they have the best breakfast. I give 10 out of 10

We stayed here the night of our Wedding and the next day, as did many of our family. Everyone we met, including the owner were incredibly helpful and gracious. The area the continental breakfast is spread out in is a wonderfully large space. The seating area is absolutely beautiful, an Italian street scene. The food is fresh and plentiful with a great variety of both hot and cold. Rudy's restaurant is an integral part of the hotel. Their food is terrific, the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Also a beautiful restaurant. The pairing between hotel and restaurant is done very well. Overall, this our stay from the planning that started almost a year ago until our stay, the staff and management were excellent. Thank you!!!!

We picked this property because of its location and things offered. We were not disappointed rooms are modern and very clean! The kids enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The breakfast was one of the best we've had on our travels. The owner is on site site and take great interest in ensuring your stay is the best it can be. the onsite resteraunt has excellent food and outstanding servce. If your in the White Bear Lake area I would highly recommond this hotel.

Walking into the atrium was gorgeous...it was like walking into little Italy. I enjoyed the food at the restaurant and my room was spacious and clean. I enjoyed meeting the owner as well...it was nice to have that interaction because you could see that he was proud of his hotel.

The Best Western Country Inn in White Bear Lake, MN is the best hotel in the area with an awesome restaurant. When weather permits, there is an open-air bar and restaurant on the roof that is well-known in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

They overbooked and they didn't have the room that we had reserved (2 queen beds ). All they had was a one queen bed (room 121) next to the rear exit. All night long we were awakened by the loud banging of the door shutting. They knocked off $5.32.

We stayed at this hotel because of a family wedding. The hotel was very busy. We requested an early check in (if possible) with the manager, Meagen. She added us to the list and within minutes we had our hotel room. Meagen seemed to run the front desk, handle the phone calls and worked in the breakfast area (due to staff shortage) with ease and professionalism. Our room was spotless and well appointed. The hotel was located minutes from the family wedding venue. Should we need to stay in the White Bear Lake area again, we will be staying at this hotel. Thank you again, Meagen, for making our stay effortless.

Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn is a nice hotel located a couple blocks from the lake, where there are beaches and walking trails. I stay here in July once a year for work and the stay is always pleasant. The place is in a safe area. The rooms are nice The restaurant is good, and the rooftop bar is a one of a kind.

I frequently travel to White Bear Lake, MN for business. Not sure why but this hotel is not listed as a company "preferred hotel" but it is my preferred. The rooms are always clean, check-in is fast and easy, and the staff is always great!

The entire stay was phenomenal. The customer service went above and beyond! We appreciate the comfortable room and how clean things were. The breakfast was a hot meal and several options. Very clean rooms. Wonderful lobby, pool, and breakfast! Very friendly and attentive staff. Within walking distance of downtown White Bear Lake. We stay here every time we visit and just wish they didn't book up so fast. The only minor drawback is the parking lot is a bit crowded and the spaces are tight, but other than that, it's a wonderful place to stay.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice rooms. The bar was nice and the breakfast was pretty good. The bed was very comfortable and there were tons of pillows. It was quiet and there were no issues with any other guest.

Rooms are spacious, clean & comfortable. Staff is pleasant, room service great & pool is perfect temp. They offer 2 washers & dryers for longer stays when you need to do laundry. The free breakfasts are great & a wide variety of choices. We stay here whenever we visit family in town & have been doing so since this hotel was built in early 80s. The food at Rudy's Rooftop restaurant is very good as well. This place is so popular that it's always busy.

There was a pancake machine in the breakfast bar. The people work very hard to make your stay comfortable! There was a great hard working lady serving breakfast. At checkin the process was very smooth. There's a great rooftop bar! They have a great restaurant called Rudy's red eye grill. Good good. Good service. So happy to spent time in Minnesota.

I spend 250 nights a year on the road, it's important to me that where I stay is exceptional,best western in white bear lake is, on every level. Trust me, if it wasn't, I wouldn't be there….excellent.

My sister and I chose this hotel because it was near the wedding venue and our relatives. We could not have been happier with the initial greeting, room or amenities. I had the most restful sleep away from home that I can remember. My sister felt the same, the beds were so comfotable. Very nice breakfast, I enjoyed the automatic pancake maker. Another plus was the convenient location. Easy to get to and leave from.

Place never disappoints. Great location in the NE suburb of St. Paul. Walking distance to one of Minnesota's best lakes. Staff goes out of their way to assist. Owner operator model.......no substitute for it. Bill the owner is a poster child of an invested owner.

I booked two rooms for my daughter's Birthday. Overall we had a good stay, I love the restaurant attached and the pool area is very unique, which are the two main reasons I chose this hotel. I would definitely come back.

We stayed here one night on Easter weekend. The service was fantastic and the food at Rudy's Red Eye was delicious. The restaurant was packed, yet the staff was excellent and handled everything with the utmost in professionalism. Location was good, near shopping, other eating establishments, and church. Would recommend to anyone.

Clean hotel, comfortable beds, hot showers, delicious food & a very friendly staff. Even the owner was there & cared enough to ask us if we were having a great stay! (Guess he is there a lot to make sure all guests are treated well.) All was perfect! We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay when in the area! Restaurant on site is excellent. The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming. Rooms are very up to date and clean with comfortable beds. Really excellent breakfast area, yet close to downtown White Bear Lake which has several good breakfast restaurants and a lot of cute shops. It was wonderful to be home for a few days.

We have had bad experiences before this one, so we were cautiously optimistic. It suited us perfectly. We had a poolside room. The kids could come and go as they pleased. The hot tub was hot, there was a restaurant by the pool, breakfast was by the pool. We didn't go anywhere else within the 24 hours. It felt like we had everything to ourselves (it was a Monday to Tuesday though). It was definitely a perfect staycation for us and our kids.

stayed in a whirlpool suite with my family of 4. Super clean, only downside is the location of the suite-next to the stairwell and across from vending and ice machine. Got to be a bit noisy. Bill, the owner, is a wonderful man and was gracious and accommodating. My kids had an amazing time at the pool. Restaurant and bar are great except for the woman who was working, she seemed terribly inconvenienced by the guests in the pool area and wasnt afraid to let us know that. Overall it was a great time!

Very limited maid service. Had to chase down maids. Ended up changing our own garbage bags and getting more coffee. Not a very friendly front desk staff. Had to,wait for help as staff was MIA often. When we did find maids they were doing a lot of chatting and standing around.

Very poor stay, pungent smell of marijuana being smoked by other guests on multiple occasions, woken by a fight at 2am one night. Noise levels high in rooms facing the pool/central atrium. Rudys is good.

Everything was great in my opinion, so the only bad thing I have to say is that the comforter was a little small for the king size bed but honestly it worked just the same. Oh and my room was right next to a flight of stairs so it was a little creepy hearing people walk around or talking outside the door at night. But overall great.

This gem, in a little resort town, is so relaxing. It has it all - a large pool in an open area that has tables for meeting with visitors, an adjacent excellent restaurant that will bring your food out so no need to go inside the restaurant if you want to social distance, delicious breakfast (more limited than pre-pandemic), and no one bothers you if you hang out for hours visiting, reading the paper, catching up on social media, playing cards. The rooms are clean and well equipped (I always ask for a room overlooking the pool - makes it feel like summer when it's -33 degrees outside and snowing.) Even when family members urge me to stay with them, I opt for BW White Bear Lake...so relaxing I feel like I am at a resort. One of these days I will be there when it is warm enough to eat at Rudy's on the rooftop deck by the fireplace.

My recent stay at this property fell short of any expectation I had and I can only hope this is a sign of the times and not how this hotel operates. The hotel hallways and my room did not feel clean, simple extras such as feather pillows were not provided and electric outlet in room would pull out from wall when used. The hotel was very noisy and front desk staff was not helpful at all with any concerns or questions. I thought the hotel had been remodeled but clearly it had not or the wing I was in was not. There are many choices for accommodations in White Bear area and I would highly recommend looking for a different property in the area if you want to get a good night rest and have a clean working room to stay in.

I would not recommend staying here, the pool in the middle of the hotel opens very early so everyday you will get woken up by screaming children. They also messed up our reservation so it meant some of our guests were unable to stay at the hotel. The heating/cooling system is super loud so that makes it even harder to sleep. The service at the desk by the staff was blunt and rude. I've never made a bad review on a hotel before but this one was needed. I would recommend staying away and finding somewhere nicer and quieter.

We just returned from our second visit to the White Bear Country Inn. We like to travel, but we rarely (if ever) return to the same place more than once. The White Bear Country Inn is an exception for us. Not only did we return to White Bear Lake for a second time, we returned just to stay at this hotel. It's a well cared for property. The lobby is warm and inviting, with a gas fireplace roaring as you enter. When you check in, you can hear the fun coming from the pool area. Let's talk about the pool area. It is not your average indoor pool. It's a large, enclosed space. They've made it look like a courtyard from some idyllic Italian city. Plenty of places to sit inside and outside of the pool itself, with a wonderful hot tub. It's a true hub of activity, from a place to eat breakfast in the morning to a cozy spot to end the day with a cocktail. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There are lots of little touches that make you feel at home. They have a great fitness center if you want to get a workout and make sure to stop over at Rudy's, which is the attached restaurant and bar. If you're there in the summer, take advantage of their rooftop bar. It's cool. We also can't say enough about the staff: super helpful, super friendly. If you need something, ask. They probably have it. We needed an HDMI cable and they brought one up to our room. White Bear Lake itself is a nice place. We got a chance to check out their "downtown" area this visit: lots of cool little shops. It's also a stone's throw from Minneapolis if you want to check that out. We will be back. We're already planning our next visit (hoping for July 2022). You can tell when a property is loved. This place is loved and you and yours will feel loved when you stay here!!

Stayed over night to extend the weekend get away. It was wonderful to go down and soak in the hot tub then go to restaurant to eat. Easy check in and check out. put the restaurant tab on the bill for check out and had no troubles

We had a poolside room. Very convenient to walk across pool area to restaurant and fitness center. Loved swimming in the saltwater pool. We used the fitness center cardio machines because so close and easy to access. Had a great dinner at the restaurant. I would go back just for the sweet potato hash browns. Loved the new combinations of simple ingredients perfectly prepared and presented. Room and lobby had all the amenities we needed.

Bill F and his team try so hard to make a stay at the Inn as enjoyable as possible. Staying at the WBI is pretty much back to normal. If there is a staffing issue, it is not at the WBI. Everyone is attentive and cheery.

Went there for an event and then stayed overnight. Food was terrible. There were no towels in the bathrooms to wipe your hands. Took 5 hours to heat up the room and the curtains were hanging loose from the windows. Almost got hit twice with housekeeping carts when I was leaving. Expect more from a hotel when I am paying over $100 a night!

We booked 4 rooms for family ,rooms clean and loved the walk in shower, pool and hot tub nice for younger kids, best part was the staff, very friendly and helpful, had an issue and manager went above and beyond. Thanks!

If you are planning a trip to St Paul travel a few miles further to a real gem. Best Western Country Inn is right in the heart of White Bear Lake MN and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Ruins the restaurant attached is not to be missed.

I am a seasoned business traveler who averages over 150 nights out of approx 250 work days a year. The White Bear Country Inn was such a breath of fresh air. The property was in perfect shape, the amenities were updated and clean, the restaurant was so amazing that we ended up eating there 3 nights in a row which is highly unusual for me. The owner of the property is present and active in the operations from the front desk, to back of house and it shows, The entire staff were genuinely kind and concerned about my experience.

This hotel is the standard by which I judge all the other hotels that I stay at even ones that are far more expensive rarely measure up to the experience that I always have at white bear from the front desk to the bar/Restaurant Fitness Center, Internet pool and hot tub very few places have amenities that can measure up to the level of service you always receive at this hotel

The hotel is very attractive and conveniently located to restaurants and downtown White Bear Lake. The room was very comfortable, with the exception of being really small for 3 adults to share. We had two queen-size beds and a rollaway bed which barely fit into the space, blocking the refrigerator and leaving only a narrow path in which to get to the bathroom. The closet was also very small. The hotel itself is very attractive with a very nice pool and a full-service restaurant. Although we didn't eat at the restaurant, it appeared to be very popular. In addition, there was a McDonald's next door. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.

The Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn is our go to hotel for a weekend trip. I was first introduced to it when I was attending a business meeting there. I was so impressed I took my daughter for a weekend shopping trip and it is now our yearly mother/daughter outing. The hotel rooms are clean, spacious and well maintained. Rudy's Red Eye Grill is a gem. Great food and atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff. The Rudytini cocktail is a must. If the weather cooperates you can relax on the rooftop bar. You will often see the owner working along side the staff and getting to know his guests. White Bear Lake has many unique stores, a walking path around the lake, a nearby apple orchard and our go to stop on our way out of town is the Cup and Cone Ice Cream Shop. A visit to White Bear Lake and The Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn will not disappoint.

This facility was so clean and comfortable, with tasteful, high quality furnishings and linens. The staff was outstanding. We honestly could find nothing wrong with our experience at the Country Inn. Everything about this hotel is delightful. Clean spacious room, exceptional staff, wonderful rooftop lounge with casual dining, fine dining restaurant, fun indoor pool and patio. They even provided transportation to an event we attended. If you can get away to White Bear, do it .... and stay at this hotel! You never have to leave the property but if you do, you'll find plenty to do and enjoy in the area.

Needed a place to attend my sister's funeral. Very accommodating and understanding of the emotional stress in this situation. Location was perfect for all aspects of the funeral (visitation, services, burial, and family gathering after the funeral. We really appreciated the bereavement rate, especially for long distance travelers.

Our stay at the WBL: Best Western was very good. We had great service from the staff and wonderful meals and drinks at Rudy's Red Eye Grill. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the staff was very attentive and friendly. In Rudy's Red Eye Grill the wait staff was efficient. We had the Rudytini, the signature drink which was yummy, complete with fresh raspberries.

This place is awesome and is a total package! The motel room has plentiful toiletry items, plush towels/linens, very comfortable bed/pillows. The restaurant (Rudy's) is a must-visit. The owner and staff go out of their way to ensure your stay and meal are superb. The restaurant has a supper-club appeal where you can sit back and relax while starting up a conversation with anyone. Customers are loyal locals and travelers who return for the delicious, large-portion meals!

This was a wonderful stay for us as we attended the life celebration of my dear cousin. It was a great central location for us! We couldn't have asked for a better stay with a great staff from the owner, the desk host and hostess, the the cleaning experts. There was a noise issue with another guest and the desk clerk took care of the issue immediately. We had another issue with our bedding and the owner went far above our expectations to resolve it in a completely generous and respectful way. We will HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone with no reserve! They were some of the most accommodating, positive, kind, and excellent staff we have ever encountered!!! If you travel enough, you see a wide range of hotels. The Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn is a real gem. It's the best hotel we've stayed at in a long time. We loved our room. It was spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room had all the standard amenities: fridge, coffee maker, microwave. The shower was very nice. You don't get a tub, but you get a very nice tiled shower. Air conditioning was great, so the room was always comfortable. The pool atrium was fantastic. It's a large space. You can get a poolside room, but even if you don't, many rooms look out over the pool area and the exterior has been painted/decorated to look like a cozy street scene (check out the pictures online). There is a hot tub and tables and chairs overlooking the pool itself. We really enjoyed this space during our stay. There is a restaurant/bar adjacent to the pool area. We did not eat at the restaurant, but I grabbed a beer or two from the bar to consume while we were swimming. Bar staff was very helpful and friendly. In general, the staff was great. They were helpful and warm. If you had a question, it was answered with a smile. Another highlight was the rooftop bar. How many Best Westerns have that? They even have a signature cocktail. We visited after a day exploring Minneapolis, and it was cool to sit up there and sip a great tasting drink. What else? They're currently featuring a grab and go breakfast, but also bringing some hot options (scrambled eggs & sausage) back into the rotation. You can tell that the owners really care about this property. It is well maintained and small touches like ear plugs in the nightstand stand out. We enjoyed our stay so much that we're already planning a weekend getaway in a few months to return. Stay here!

Great place to stay had a bar restaurant and rooftop bar area. Rooms were very nice and clean. Walking distance to downtown White Bear Lake lots of bars, restaurants and shops to browse in. The price for the room under $100.00 before tax. Hopefully more Best Western will lower prices.

We liked the location-not too far from several places like Stillwater and Minneapolis. Check in was easy and the room was clean and nice. It was better than expected. The beds were comfortable. The hotel is kind of noisy as it has a restaurant attached and hosts large gatherings. It quieted down but if you want a quiet stay don't take the poolside rooms. Each morning outside our door a loud repetitive beep went off, we were close to the laundry, mechanical and storage room. Not sure what it was. Breakfast is grab and go and should be normal again as they have an open restaurant on the property. The service was okay. We wanted to stay an extra night and the guy at the desk looked ( so briefly) at the computer and said, yeah, no. We can't give you an extra night... you'd have to move rooms-so that would be a pain and not worth it... thanks kid for deciding for me! I don't think he looked or cared. Had to leave, no room for us. Otherwise, it was a good stay. Parking was easy and overall good.

An average hotel. I would have given it a 3.5 if possible but pushed it to a 4. Needs to be updated. The room was adequate but needed some small repairs and updating - bathroom sink right at the room door is awkward. The breakfast was scaled back even though we were almost 2 months past the date the Minnesota Governor lifted all restrictions. It was served in cramped areas of the lobby - odd that this would be better if this was done for Covid as everyone was on top of each other. The items were minimal. Parking was a challenge. Not sure if that was due to the attached restaurant but spaces were hard to come by. Pool was cold. Tv's were very nice size though and they offered nice bath supplies.

The staff is friendly and helpful and the property well-maintained. We stay here each year when we come to visit family in the area. We enjoy walks by the lake each morning which is easily accessible from the hotel. We walk to get coffee from the neighborhood Caribou Coffee and walk to dinner at Rudy's or at other restaurants in town. Our favorite place to stay!

This was a great hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Staff were very accommodating. Pool area was well maintained. Owner was around checking in to make sure customers were satisfied. Breakfasts were good. Rudy's restaurant has great burgers! The roof top bar was a lot of fun for a family night cap and the staff there were great! I would recommend this place. Definitely plan on returning !!!!!

We love staying at this hotel. Their suites are beautiful and spacious. The employees are extremely nice and helpful. We always prefer to stay here over any other place. We have two dogs so it's sometimes hard to find places to bring them and this hotel is perfect for our furbabies.

Since moving out of state, I've come back often to visit the White Bear Lake area. I've stayed at every other motel in the area and this is still my favorite. Great staff, good restaurant and enjoyable rooftop bar that also serves complete meals. There are new motels in the area but why stay near an interstate highway when you can be within walking distance of the lake, the quaint downtown shops and other nice restaurants. Bill, the owner, often comes by to make sure his guests are enjoying themselves.

This hotel is so much fun with Rudy's restaurant on the roof and walking distance to the quaint downtown White Bear Lake. The rooms are updated and clean! The only hotel in the downtown area. We stay here anytime in the area and need lodging.

We've stayed here many times. We commented that it's starting to look worn down. We couldn't even use the pool or hot tub. There was a party going on and everything was overcrowded and noisy. This was never mentioned at check in.

The location of this hotel is ideal as it was easy to get to the various places we needed to go. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Though the decor is a bit dated, the hotel was clean and our rooms were fresh and neat. We happened to stay while they were renovating the lobby due to a broken pipe. The hotel adjusted well to this unexpected event. Breakfast offered a variety of foods.

Rooms are great. Beds are cozy. Food is amazing. Pool atmosphere is so quant and relaxing. Has a “hotel in the mountains” feel both inside and out. Staff are great to deal with. The hot tub is large. Pool is large. Rudy's red eye grill has amazing food and really good prices. Rooms are large and spacious. Clean. Fitness room has many machines as well. You'll need as you'll put on weight with such a great restaurant on the premises.

This is the best over all experience we have had at a hotel recently. The room was clean. Lobby, pool area and restaurant were as well. All contact with any employee during our stay could not have been better. The room could have used a little updating as far as furniture. The bathroom was updated and the room was clean. The lobby was under remodeling. I would go back again!

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel in early Feb 2021 and our stay was fantastic! The primary reason for our visit was medical in downtown MSP, but we did not want to stay downtown near the clinic. This hotel was excellent! We had the feel of being in rural MN in Lakes Country, with only a three block walk to White Bear Lake and a short walk to downtown which truly has a 'Park Rapids MN' type feel. The staff at the hotel was amazing from the time we made our reservation - while on the way - through checkout. The room was clean and we were made to feel right at home!

We stayed at this hotel 1 night in January. The roof top was not open but looked like a lot of fun in the summer. They are dog friendly with a pet relief area at the rear of the hotel. Check in was efficient and staff were friendly. Rates and pet fee were very reasonable. There is plenty of parking. The hotel has an indoor pool and laundry. Breakfast during COVID was minimal. The hotel lobby was torn up because of a recent water pipe break but that did not interrupt their friendly service. Rudys is a bar and grill attached to the hotel, MacDonalds is across the street. There are many shops, restaurants in White Bear Lake.

New Years Eve stay at the hotel. Whirlpool Suite. Wonderful accommodations. The room was spacious. Ate poolside as the restaurant was closed due to the pandemic. Take out from Rudy's Red Eye Grill. Food was excellent. Staff at the hotel were very accommodating. Roof top "Bear Drop" to celebrate the new year. All in all, a very positive experience.

We stay here often. I love this hotel, the location and Rudy's on site. However, this stay there was a large dog across the hall from us who barked a lot in the evening and woke us all up at 6 a.m. with its loud non-stop barking. We were not impressed!

This hotel was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays. The staff on all shifts were warm and helpful. My room had a nice bed with plenty of pillows and blankets for comfort. The amenities were great, the parking was free, and the cost for my week's stay was quite affordable. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

Awesome rooms, great service, and the accommodations to fit the new pandemic issues to allow guests to feel as if nothing has changed us amazinggg!!! The grab and go breakfast is good, but there is also a McDonald's next door for breakfast too!

Spent nine nights and eight days there. So pleased with everything. The owner, was so congenial and welcoming. Breakfast was grab and go but satisfying. The coffee was outstanding. I recommend it to all who are traveling through.the White Bear area

Had several cleanliness issues in room. BW always has breakfast and was able to successfully modify as a take away during COVID. But restaurant in hotel was crowded with patrons sitting close together AND all around pool. This openness made the air very cool around pool - not idea. Pool only has side ladder for entrance, which was difficult for older person and young kids.

This was a great hotel. We were there during an October snow storm and during COVID. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. The room we had was clean and well designed. Our room looked out to the covered couryard pool and the lights in the courtyard were turned off and on as if our window faced outside on a sunny day/night. They really did an excellent job under COVID conditions too. While not able to serve their regular breakfast, they had a decent amount of options and were very generous. We forgot a couple toiletries and they were able to provide them. It was snowing really hard and there was a lot of COVID closures so it was really nice to have a welcoming hotel to stay at and a pool to enjoy. I also really appreciated the extra seating in the rooms since we had to eat take out a few times. Well done!

A night away from the kids made for a nice time to relax. The jetted tub in room was amazing and the food at the restaurant way as good if not better then what others said it was. It was nice there were options for breakfast.

My family and I just got home from an overnight “staycation” with some friends. I was pleasantly surprised that a Best Western was so clean and the rooms were very nice (newly remodeled and actually felt like a home). Nice touches like an in room Keurig and a little rubber duck for our kiddo. Everyone from the front desk staff to the person cleaning up the pool area at midnight was so friendly! The owner was even on property for a large portion of the night making sure all was comfortable for everyone. I am super impressed with this hotel and staff and highly recommend a stay here.

Love the WBCI! Owner Bill loves his guests and is always around asking how to make things better, best place in the WBL, MN area. Nicely decorated and clean rooms along with great bar and restaurant!!

Comfortable, friendly, great food. Strong attention to customer service. Very popular and energetic rooftop bar, weather permitting. Very convenient location to downtown White Bear Lake business center.

Carpet was disgusting, room wasn't cleaned in other areas and when asking for assistance at front desk they seemed Luke they were being bothered. No tv gyides, housekeeping said ask front desk....rude people at times

The hotel was very clean and the restaurant had great food. The font desk was very nice to me and my daughter. They were helpful when she needed some supplies to finish her homework (tape, scissors, etc.). Looking to stay here again for more volleyball tournaments.

I have used this particular hotel at least 100 times over 14 years. I am always please with the service. They continue to upgrade the facility with a fresh look. Keep it up! Thanks for the great service!

The hotel is absolutely fine , clean, personal friendly, there is a good restaurant in the basement and also nice pool with fitness what is clean . To me a very good relation price/value. Will come back .

Everything was wonderful. The bar and restaurant, the breakfast and the room was great. We had our company party here, great room for this. the bar tenders, and front desk staff were excellent. The bed could of been a little more comfortable.

The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds and pillows were comfortable, we had a poolside room so it was a bit noisy on a Friday night but we fell asleep quickly. It was a small Continental Buffet but the food was all warm and plenty to eat and the ladies making a food were very friendly the only thing that would have been fun why seeing the Ice Bar on a rooftop it said it was open from 6 to 9 and we went up twice and it was locked. That did not ruin our night at all

Stayed here on New Tears Eve with friends and had a great time.The room was clean and comfortable and the check in and check out were some of the best I have ever encountered.The staff was great and the service in the bar was excellent as was the food.I would definitely go back as well as recommended this hotel to any of my friends.

This is a great Best Western with pool, across the street from art gallery, shopping and bar& grill. We checked in and never left during our stay! The food was excellent, a great “snowflake” martini. Comfy pillows!

Place never disappoints. Decked out for the holidays. A great local feel. Owner Bill F is strongly engaged in the WBL business community and it reflects on his commitment to the region. If you are looking for something other than a "Brand" cookie cutter experience, the WBI offers a uniquely local feel under the BW name. I stay here every time I am in the TC area.

Wedding on Saturday 12/7/2019. Had entire bridal party, and out of town guests staying at hotel Friday and Saturday evenings. Gracious employees! Staff approachable and friendly. Bridal suite vast and functional! Breakfast staff (two wonderful ladies-one blonde and one brunette) went out of their way to help us beyond a continental breakfast. They helped find us a fan for the bridal suite to keep all of the ladies cooler under the blowdryers and make up! Reached out to offer any help. Bill , the owner of the Best Western was more than someone behind an office door. We had all of our necessary things for the wedding venue, in addition to all the dresses/bridesmaid needs and wedding dress all loaded in to one vehicle for my husband to take to venue. The battery was dead and he urgently moved everything in to two other vehicles because it was time sensitive for the day and the photographer! Leaving us with no vehicle, we were about to call many UBERS for emergent rides for the bridal party and Bride to be to get to the venue in a HURRY. Bill, the owner, magically arrived and saved the day! He was so gracious, offered to take us in groups with his own car over to the venue. He was kind, friendly, and was the kind of gentleman you'd want to meet again. We will never forget his help or his gracious nature . He maintains a lovely hotel. The entrance and the staff are so welcoming. Knowing Bill is behind his great hotel makes perfect sense. The photos and the wedding started on time thanks to Bill! What a great memory - hotel rooms and stay were perfect!

This hotel is run right. The owner is present, the staff is attentive, the food is amazing, and the area of White Bear is a great weekend destination. 4th time for us and we'll be back again. Don't miss it.

Has everything you need in the room, beds were comfortable, plenty of pillows, very clean. Internet was awesome as well as the cable. Breakfast is one of the best I ever had at a hotel! Staff was polite and friendly.

Last weekend my daughter was married at Kellerman Event Center not far from the This Best Western White Bear Country Inn. We had a wonderful experience. Everyone was helpful and nice! We had a block of rooms and everything went very smooth. Both of my daughters each had a fireplace Jacuzzi suite that was absolutely lovely and perfect for getting ready! Rudy's was fun and the breakfast was very good. We had also hired the hotel shuttle for all guests and they were on time, clean and the driver was just so professional and courteous. I highly recommend this hotel. Our other guests for the wedding were all very happy with the accommodations. The rooms are very nice. Thank you Best Western!

We attended a wedding in White Bear Lake and stayed at the Best Western Plus. The hotel decor is unique, cozy, and the pool area feels like an outdoor promenade though it is indoors. The room was larger than expected with very comfortable beds. The restaurant/bar is a great inclusion. Many hotels that have a restaurant don't include a continental breakfast, but we were pleasantly surprised that it did. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of hot and cold options. We had a slight issue with one of the amenities in the room, and Bill (the owner or manager), went above and beyond to remedy the situation and ensure we were completely satisfied with our stay. We would highly recommend staying here and would stay again when in the area.

The room was great, and the space was really cool. Great for families with the heated indoor pool or a fun romantic weekend getaway from the cities. Super close to the downtown and a mcdonald's literally next door. The bar/food was good--- we have the spinach artichoke deep that was amazing. The issue was with the front desk staff. Very off putting and pretentious. Made us feel like we were an inconvience and just another room they had to deal with. We called for late check-out and were denied. When we went downstairs, the manager said, no problem--- we aren't that busy the rest of today. So why when I called down earlier did they not allow for it?

We did not spend much time in the hotel. The check-in and check out went well. The breakfast was average. The room appeared clean, but, there was a stick brown substance in the fridge. The front desk clerk was dishonest with my money. I hope it was worth the $1 of mine she kept to lose a customer. All hotel staff we encountered were friendly and smiling.

Hotel was nice and the staff was warm and welcoming. Room was comfortable, but was located next to the gym and faced the indoor courtyard. I could hear everything in the gym and the courtyard was noisy. So, hard to fall asleep early and woke up early with the noise from the gym and the breakfast goers in the courtyard. I would recommend this hotel, but recommend against a first floor room that opens to the courtyard. It is convenient to the pool and other amenities, but too noisy.

Hotel was good restaurant, pool and easy walk around downtown white bear lake. And easy walk to the lake. The poolside room was noisy but convenient to the pool and breakfast Will stay again but not in a poolside room.

We didn't stay long enough but the ‘campus' of this hotel looked awesome! The room was pretty at first sight but the floor was sticky and the carpet didn't feel the cleanest. It was hard to enjoy the whole experience when the room didn't feel ‘fresh'.

Quiet and clean. Close to cute little shops and boutiques. Rooftop bar was great and also not disruptive to our stay. Highly recommend. The staff were courteous and accommodating. Staff gave us dining advice for good restaurants in town.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Best Western. It is older but is well maintained. We enjoyed all the Bear statues and extra features. The breakfast included plenty of hot and cold choices. We ordered room service the previous evening. Our food came promptly and was still hot. We had the Bleu Bacon burger. It was amazing. We will definitely stay here again when in the area

Door situation was a bit odd. Anyone using the bathroom would not be able to open the door if someone was using the sink right outside of the door. We also found a large pin (possibly used for a corsage) on the bathroom floor so assume the floor didn't get cleaned from the previous occupant.

The Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn is very pleasant, and I wish I had been on vacation rather than a business trip. It was quiet and well kept, with an excellent restaurant (Rudy's). The wi fi worked well, and there was plenty of room in my room to set up a desk and get work done at the end of the day.

Great room and service. I would book again in a Best Western Plus Hotel. I enjoyed my stay. Amenities and location was good for me. I would recommend this hotel to some else. Price for the room I got was great. Room was spacious and comfortable.

Very nice hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The bars (in the hotel and on the rooftop) are very nice and fun. We didn't use the pool, but the pool area was nice.

If you have a room over the pool area it is very noisy. It was a wedding the weekend we were there and people were up late we had to call the front desk because it was so loud in the room from the people talking in the pool and table area. Other than that the hotel was fine.

We stayed in this hotel some 18 years ago and came back to find it in similar state and therefore we found it a little dated. The rooms are quite small and a little cramped with old style furniture. Could do with some modernization. The hotel appeared fully booked and rooms are exposed to noises from the corridor. We had asked for a quiet room but I think those are hard to find here unfortunately. So generally it was disappointing.

Spent a Friday night at this hotel. Nice location with plenty of parking and two inside bars, and a McDonald's next door. Staff was very friendly and they have good breakfast in the morning. Very busy place with weddings parties and so forth, so reservations in advance are a must. Nice room very quiet and clean.

I stay in ten or eleven different hotels each year, and this is pretty close to the best. It's not incredibly expensive, but the rooms are appointed like a very high class hotel. Even the bathrooms are special. I wish I had taken pictures. It feels like you are in somebody's home. The showers are beautiful with wonderful shower heads. The fridge is hidden in the dresser. Some of the rooms have a view of the swimming pool atrium area which has the look and feel of a pretty Brooklyn neighborhood. The breakfast is very good. I have stayed in four different rooms from a single queen room to the best room in the hotel which has a fireplace, a jacuzzi tub and a large dining table. Our children and grandchild met us there for room service dinner and it was wonderful to have the table. The food is exceptional and I was impressed with how fast the room service was. The staff is obviously well trained and happy because they give outstanding customer service. If you are staying in the eastern Twin Cities, I highly recommend the Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn.

I have stayed at the Best Western for work 5 times in the past three months and it has become a favorite. I will continue to stay at this hotel each time I travel down which will be often in the next few months. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Rudy's is a favorite restaurant.

This is an excellently located hotel, with great indoor and patio venue, as well as access to local shops and restaurants within a easy walk. There are also several lakes and walking trails for quiet evening exercise.

Every best western has somewhat of a standard, and I've accepted that some are not as great as others. This location was above and beyond. I loved Rudy's the bar there as well as the food! Would definitely come back again!

We were part of wedding group and stayed only one night. The basics: Bed comfortable, room clean, and staff friendly. Elevator a bit slow. Breakfast was decent...appreciated the gluten free bread option. It was quiet where our room was located, but others had some noise issues. Overall a nice place to stay and would definitely stay again!

This is a unique, nicely kept up hotel that was a pleasant surprise to find online when we were traveling to the north country. Super friendly staff at check in; Anne and Sydney were especially helpful in the (exceptional) breakfast area—they were on the spot keeping everything well-stocked and spotlessly clean. The rooftop was a fun place for an evening drink—both bartenders were super friendly, too. We will keep this place in mind for the future, possibly just coming up to check out more of the area. Love the white bears everywhere—especially going up and down the flagpole! :)

I mostly had a positive experience at this hotel. The room was clean and well furnished, the staff was friendly and responsive. However, I experienced a major issue with cleanliness of the hallways that stuck out like a sore thumb and that I thought the hotel and future guests should be aware of. I woke up one morning to find in the hallway outside my room: a rolling dumpster overflowing with trash and pizza boxes etc that was half blocking the exit door, and a hallway table with piles of dirty plates full of old congealed food (presumably from the night before). This was at 8:30am so I assumed the housekeeping staff had not tended to it yet. Yet, at 11:30am, 3 hours later, the mess and dumpster and food waste was STILL THERE! At that point, I saw 2 employees walking by, one dressed in management attire. They walked RIGHT BY the mess without batting an eye, so I stopped them and brought the issue to their attention. They said it was the responsibility of the restaurant and simply shrugged and went on their way. I could not believe the reaction, and especially that not a single staff member took care of this unsightly mess in the span of 3 hours, or reported it to the restaurant, if they were indeed in charge. I checked out shortly thereafter and did not see if the mess had ever been cleaned up. I hardly ever write reviews but seems like this hotel needs a tweak in protocol so thought I would speak up!

This hotel is modern, clean and well decorated. The breakfast is good with free coffee available 24/7 and gluten free options upon request. The area is safe and there is a bar and grill right inside the hotel. The pool area was clean with plenty of tables to sit and relax while the kids played in the pool. I will definitely stay here again!

We love this place! Great hotel with clean, fresh rooms, wonderful service and competent staff. Enjoyed the pool, on-site restaurant and rooftop bar! Highly recommend all three. The service can't be bet and the location is perfect.

I had a one night stay-cation here with my husband and two kids. The Room: We were in a double room (2 queen beds) on the first floor back by the Bridal Suite. The check-in staff asked if we'd be using the pool and would like a first floor room for ease of access. That was kind and worked well as we knew that would be the main activity our kids would want to do (the weather was quite rainy so we didn't spend much time outside). Some amenities included were shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soaps, hair dryer, shower cap, small vanity pack with cotton round, Q-tip and an emery board. Mini fridge (empty), microwave and coffee maker are also available in the room. I didn't see a safe in the room but there MAY be a safe behind the front desk to lock up valuables - I'd recommend checking with the front desk. The Beds: I slept so well in that bed. It was a softer bed and laying on it felt like the bed was giving me a little hug. If you like a firmer bed this might not be the best for you but it was heaven for me. Options: White Bear Lake is a cute little lake town just outside the Twin Cities. If the weather had been nicer I would have loved to check out some more of the little shops and eateries near the hotel and along the shore of the lake. Dining: Onsite you'll find Rudy's Red Eye Grill. We didn't actually eat there as we were hungry for Mexican food. We went to Don Julio just down the road. Breakfast: A delicious breakfast is included in your stay. Some items we enjoyed were: fresh waffles (make your own), scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, cereal, pastries and assorted fruits. I'm sure the selection changes from time to time but from what we had, I'm sure the quality is high no matter what is on the "menu". OTHER: There is a business office right off the lobby as well as vending machines, ice machines, laundry machines (just off the pool), a work out room) also just off the pool) and banquet facilities. Lots of food options in close proximity to the hotel (McDonald's is literally next door).

We recently stayed here as a family for an impromptu getaway. The hotel was really nice, and we had a great, fun, relaxing stay. Pros: - friendly, helpful staff -clean, inviting lobby, pool area, and fitness room -24 hour coffee station -on-site restaurant -clean, tastefully decorated room -comfortable beds -quiet room -breakfast included Cons: -breakfast was ok, not bad but not as good as other hotels (definitely not a reason not to stay here) Overall, this is a great place to stay. It's also conveniently close to the cute, fun downtown White Bear Lake shops and restaurants.

This was the perfect hotel for our wedding group. The shuttle was a great help taking people to and from the wedding venue. The rooms were great as well as the large tables for the breakfast the next morning. People also loved the rooftop bar.

We showed up and they upgraded our rooms for free. Enjoyed a beautiful suite. We had dinner the first night on site and it was incredible. I had steak Oscar and was in love. The hotel has a great layout and an excellent bar. I forgot my phone charger and I happened to ask someone (ended up being to owner) and I had a charger in my room that night. It was very clean and I just cannot say enough nice things about how well we were treated. One of the “best” hotels I have ever stayed at.

The Best Western at White Bear Lake MN was an exceptional experience! I was traveling alone to a business conference and from the moment I walked in the door I knew I was in good hands. The woman at the check in was welcoming. The whole building was very clean, modern and tastefully decorated. I highly recommend.

This is a beautiful hotel. You can tell that Bill really cares and pays attention to all the details. The room we had (223) was furnished with dark rich wooden tables and an armoire all polished and beautiful. We asked for an extra luggage rack and they provided one pronto. (I don't know why hotels only give you one luggage rack. Do they think people travel in ones?) The only thing lacking was the service. Housekeeping somehow skipped our room two days in a row, even after we reminded her to please tend to our room. We had to go the the front desk to request shampoo, etc. because of this. Otherwise, our stay was perfect. Oh, and they serve a complementary full hot breakfast every morning! The restaurant within, Rudy's Redeye Grill, is excellent. Kind of dark and night-club-ish. Beautifully furnished and delicious food. Really, this restaurant is a must, esp. if you like walleye! Thanks Bill, for a wonderful stay.

We were there for 3 nights as our motorcycle trike was being repaired. We had room 106 which had an door right into the atrium which was very nice and the decor was very pleasing. Breakfast for us was 1 door away and there was a table right outside our room which was nice for eating breakfast or just to relax in the pool area. We did not eat at Rudy's they restaurant inside the hotel but they were always busy. We would highly recommend this Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn!

Very clean, well maintained, and the breakfasts are made more awesome by their helpful staff that will bring your waffles to you, or hold your child's hand and show them around the kitchen while you juggle plates of food for your family. Even when no one is around, they continue to clean and polish and dust, to keep everything spiffy. Fabulous rooftop restaurant, nice little business room if you need to use their computers or print out boarding passes. Gorgeous clean pool and the architectural elements of the rooms facing the pool has a feel of a resort! Several events were held there while we were there, and it was seamless - we never felt crowded, the noise was kept down at night. It will be the place I plan to stay when I return for my grand-daughter's graduation. The entire town of White Bear Lake is lovely and quaint, lots of amenities and good restaurants within a block or two. Great stay, great value.

We met some friends for a quick stay and to let the kids play in the pool. Chose the location because we've been here before and has everything we need including a full service restaurant on site and a pool for the kids. The location is great because you can walk to down town White Bear Lake and shop or have a nice breakfast. Beds were comfortable. The restaurant was accommodating. The only thing lacking is the breakfast. However, this is not why we chose this location to begin with. Very happy with our stay. A great value!

The hotel clerk was eager to make sure my stay was terrific. Best Western points allowed me to stay in a nice king whirlpool room. Somehow when my wife and I planned our trip into the Cites for the weekend our reservation was switched from a suite to a normal room even though we had reserved and paid for the suite. Amazingly thought he staff was able to fix the room error for us at the desk and handled everything very professionally.

Have fun without worry. Great indoor pool, great restaurant indoor and also outside rooftop restaurant. The staff is alway ready to assist. While the snow was falling, we were cozy and having a great time indoors. The snow buried my car and the staff was, once again, ready to assist. Digging then pushing my car out of a snow bank. I'll be back.

We stayed while attending a nearby family event. Charming atmosphere. Welcoming, professional and extremely kind staff, who went out of their way to help us. Terrific food and service at Rudy's Redeye Grill. (They served 20 of us one night.) Full, hot, healthy breakfast each morning. Very clean. Updated room with comfy beds. Easy walk to downtown White Bear. We'll definitely come again.

I booked this hotel via a travel website in early October for a stay from December 23rd through 26th. Unfortunately, my plans changed and I cancelled my reservation in November, and received a cancellation confirmation via email. Despite the cancellation confirmation, the hotel charged me on December 23rd. I have been in contact with the hotel three times to get this charge reversed, and despite their assurances, the charge has not been reversed. At this point I'm ready to chalk it up to a lesson learned, but very disappointing customer service that others should be aware of when booking reservations at this hotel.

We love going to Rudy's Redeye grill, which is attached, so we were excited to stay at the Best Western. But it was not a good experience. Although the staff was friendly and the breakfast was small but good (staff there is great and they even had gluten free bread!), the rest of the experience was really, really disappointing. Our room was not in good condition. They had not vacuumed the floor or just did a pass down the middle. The sink drain didn't, well, drain. Although the shower/bath area looked to be recently upgraded, there was hair and dirt in the corners of the bathroom, and other areas of the main room area hadn't been dusted in what looked like a long time. And the hot tub in the main area wasn't working. I'll say maybe we got a 'bad' room because we checked in late in the evening and there wasn't anything else, but it shouldn't make a difference. I wouldn't stay here again. I'm just glad we didn't bring a big group there.

Been coming here for 30 years. Always a good place to stay when visiting White Bear and St Paul area. Room is always warm in winter. Hot water in room is pretty fast. The restaurant is the best I have ever came to attached to a hotel. The variety of food is awesome and always fresh.

Review of: Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn 4940 North Highway 61 White Bear Lake, MN 55110 20180928: • A reservation was made and paid for at this hotel with a check-in of 20181207 and a check-out of 20181209. 20181207-20181209: • When we arrived to the hotel and attempted to check in, we were told that the hotel was overbooked and we were one of several people selected to be ‘bumped' to another hotel. This hotel was three miles away and Best Western would ensure that our stay would be taken care of due to the inconvenience to us. This overbooking was due to there being a wedding party and business conference at this hotel. • We insisted that we had made and pre-paid for this reservation to this hotel, but kept getting apologized to and told there was nothing they could do – there simply were no rooms to give out. • We were told that because we did not book this room through the ‘block' of rooms set aside for the wedding, that caused us to be selected to be bumped. (Note: we booked this room outside the ‘block' of rooms set aside because we had a significant discount that could be applied for our stay. This discount could not be used if booking the room through this ‘block' of rooms. We were not willing to pay the higher price (gouging) this hotel was charging for that ‘block' of rooms set aside and used our discount.) • We continued to insist that a room be found for us, as promised to us when we reserved and paid for that room. We continued to be apologized to and told there were no rooms available – period. We were expected to stay at that other hotel or find other accommodations on our own. • At this point, a third person came out to the lobby desk. Her name is Colleen and joined in the conversation and also told us that no rooms were available to give out – period. And oh, by the way, she apologized several times – like the other two staff members had been doing. • During the conversation, we asked why we were not notified ahead of time of being bumped. We were told that reservations and payments to this hotel are made through a third-party company and that no contact information for us was available to the hotel. (Note: why does any company use a third-party company that they cannot communicate with? We asked that and were told that this third-party company did not provide any personal information to the hotel for security reasons. This is a major flaw in the process! While it is very much appreciated that a company is security conscious, the problem is such that communication to customers is lost.) • We continued to insist that we get a room at this hotel, explaining that my wife was a part of the wedding preparations with other family members staying at this hotel. For us to be three miles away made it very inconvenient for her to participate in those functions. Also, by being three miles away, the convenience of being with family for visiting and eating meals was lost. We continued to ask employees of this hotel that they find a room for us at this hotel. • After about 20 minutes of what became an argument between us and Colleen, she finally said she'd try to do something for us. She disappeared to the room behind the lobby for about 10 minutes. When she returned, yet again another apology, and said she had a room for us. She then stood there looking at us, like she wanted a ‘thank-you' for her efforts. She did not get one! She, the other two staff members and this hotel had now caused us severe aggravation and frustration and took 30-plus minutes from our lives by having to demand a room that was reserved and pre-paid by us. Yes, Colleen stood there waiting for that ‘thank-you' – for doing her job poorly. • After Colleen did her job and provided us with a room, we had to abruptly stop the employee standing next to Colleen from charging us a second time for our room. While it is policy for a hotel to take the credit card number for guests at the time of check in – why was there an attempt to charge our credit card for a room we had already paid for. The woman simply apologized to us, stating that she didn't realize the room was already paid for. Was she not listening to the previous conversation we had with her and with Colleen, where we stated several times that we had already paid for the room? • Once we arrived to the room and during our stay, here are the things noted that were a problem: o The building was not built very well, in that the noise level from others was excessive. While we realize that in a hotel there will be noises, we should not have to hear people in adjacent rooms talking or hearing their television sets. We realized that the hotel was aware of this issue, probably from complaints of previous visitors, because on the night table were two small packets. In those packets were ear-plugs. What reputable hotel puts out ear-plugs for their visitors? Well, a hotel that is poorly constructed – like this one. o That first evening, we could hear a dog barking from a room down the hall. This dog barked on and off for nearly an hour. Does this hotel really allow pets in rooms? Does that mean we are sleeping on a bed, with a top cover that is not washed on a regular basis, that was bounced around on by a dog from a previous guest. Not very reassuring! o The selection of television stations was extremely poor. When guests pay the kind of money this hotel charges, one should expect a nice selection of channels on the television. At this hotel, if one were to not select all the channels with sports, news and shopping – very few channels were left to choose from. o One of the stations on the television was one that showed pictures and descriptions of this particular hotel. We have seen this at other hotels and it is a nice feature to have. At this hotel though, there were only five slides in their presentation of this hotel and the descriptions associated with those pictures was brief and generic. No information of value was found on this channel about this hotel. (Note: At other hotels, that use this feature, there are oftentimes a dozen or so slides with pertinent information to go along with those slides.) (Double Note: While at breakfast on Saturday, the manager was making the rounds at tables and asking how things were going for people. When he got to us, he asked if we were staying at the hotel and what we thought of the room. Rather than blast him with the numerous problems and issues we had already encountered – he was told of the poor selection of channels on the television. Specifics, as described above, were provided to him. A woman at the next table overheard our conversation and stated the same about channel selection – that is was quite poor. The manager stated that the contract the hotel had with the cable company was such that only the stations we currently have were available. When asked why a higher level cable package couldn't be obtained, the manager stated he'd consider it, but this was a third-party company and they couldn't do anything about better channel selections at this time. Oh, and then he apologized to us and to the woman at the next table. o The bed was not comfortable. The mattress was lumpy (a sign of it being old) and not easy to sleep on. o On the rug, there was debris. It was obvious that the rug had either not been vacuumed lately or not done very well. o The drain in the shower had what looked like strings or bits of toilet paper on it. There was not enough to cause the drain to be plugged, but still more dirt in the hotel that we had to contend with. o When entering the room for the first time, the heat was quite intense. We found the thermostat on the heater at the window was cranked all the way up. We turned it down, but even after coming back from dinner later (hours after we turned down that thermostat) the temperature was still not acceptable. We finally turned the thermostat all the way down, to 58 degrees, and the room became comfortable the remainder of our stay. o We always pull the alarm clock from the wall at the beginning of our stay in hotels. This, due to previous stays at other hotels where previous guests in those rooms thought it cute to set the alarm for the middle of the night – causing the next guests to have to get up and turn it off. Before I unplugged this alarm clock I did look at the alarm setting and sure enough, it was set for 4:00am. o On Saturday, we left the room at 12:45pm and the guy who was cleaning rooms in our section was cleaning the room directly across from us. We even said hello to him on our way out. When returning to our room a little after 8:00pm that same day, it was found that our room had not been cleaned. The bed was not made, towels were not restocked, and garbage cans were not emptied. Is it the policy of the hotel to not clean rooms for guests when people stay more than one night? A complaint was made at the lobby desk about this and all I got was yet another apology, from the young woman who was now on day four of her training – one of the people we initially met when arriving at this hotel the day before. Talking the next day to some family members, who also stayed more than one night, they did not experience that problem of their room not being cleaned. So why was ours not cleaned? The ‘Do Not Disturb' sign was not on our door. Were we being targeted in some way by the hotel for ‘causing them so many problems' when we checked in and insisted on getting a room at this hotel, like we reserved and paid for? o When going to use the coffee pot in the room, that decision was quickly terminated when the coffee pot was found to be disgustingly dirty. • On Saturday evening, the connection to the Internet slowed to a crawl. I tried reconnecting, using my phone, and discovered that the connection (WiFi) to the hotel was an unsecure connection. I did not proceed because of security reasons. Why does a hotel in a major hotel chain not provide a secure connection – like so many other hotel chains do? • We met up with other family members for dinner Friday night and were seated at a large round table adjacent to the pool area. We were told that was the only table available for five people (we were expecting two more for a total of seven, but those two never caught up with us). So, all through dinner time and visiting afterwards, we had to talk over the noises of the many kids in the pool. Nice that the hotel has a pool area, but like many other hotels – that pool area could have been enclosed so guests eating and visiting nearby could actually hear what others were saying. Yup, nice and relaxing – NOT! • On Saturday morning, around 8:00am, a cat could be heard meowing in the hallway. I opened the door to the hall and looked both ways. Sure enough, about half way down the hall was a cat strolling along. Not far from that cat was a room with the door open (I could see the light coming from the room into the hallway) and from that room a baby could be heard crying. After returning to my room, I could hear that baby – at least six doors down the hallway – crying. Yup, the poorly constructed building didn't afford a sound barrier such to muffle that crying. • On Sunday morning, the day of our check-out, there was a sheet of paper slid under our door from hotel staff. It contained receipt information and some personal information. Problem was – that sheet didn't apply to us – it applied to a room directly above us – on the third floor. So, we now had some personal information for another guest – where was our receipt and who now had our personal information? Fortunately for the person on the receipt we received that first, we are honest people and would not have used any of that personal information…and second, it belonged to one of our family members. Later, we mentioned to that family member about getting their receipt under our door. They stated they never got a receipt from the hotel. We explained that we turned in the receipt to the person at the lobby desk (her name was April). Oh, and by the way, when that receipt was turned in at the desk – we got yet another apology. • Problems and issues from the experiences of other family members: o The parents of the bride and groom were staying at the hotel. After checking in and getting to their room, they found dirty dishes in the sink and on the floor, the bed not made and clutter about the room. They returned to the hotel lobby and complained about that. They were immediately given another room. (Note: wait a minute – they were given another room immediately? Why were we told there were no rooms available then?) Oh, by the way, they were apologized to by the staff at the lobby desk. o Another family member stated staff entered the utility room across from their room at an early hour on Saturday (and Sunday), where at least two staff members were heard talking loudly and laughing. So much for being respectful of guests at such an early time in the day. They continued conversing loudly for several minutes, then got some equipment running (wash machines?). When they departed, they left the utility room door open and that/those machines could still be heard by our family members across the hall. Why couldn't that door be closed when staff members left? Maybe those earplugs should have been used by our family members – since this hotel is so noisy. o Another family member, in another room, complained that some guy in an adjacent room was snoring so loudly that she could not sleep. There goes those thin walls again! Maybe this family member should have used the earplugs left for her? At 1:30am, she finally got up and went to another family members room and spent the remainder of the night there, sleeping on the chair with ottoman. So, she paid for a room at this hotel and couldn't even sleep in it because of the noise. She even stated that she thought about those earplugs, but having tried earplugs in the past – she knows they are too uncomfortable for her to use. Evaluation: • We will never stay at this hotel again due to the many problems and issues encountered not only by us, but also in hearing from some of our family who stayed here as well. • We will never stay at a Best Western hotel again since the parent hotel chain uses a third-party company that affects all Best Western hotels (the company that does the reservations and accepts payments). • The hotel doesn't really care about guests or they would have taken better care of everyone. While we still think we were targeted in some way, because of our ‘causing such a problem at check-in', the problems and issues at this hotel extended to other family members of ours. • We firmly believe that in some way, shape or form – the training of staff at this hotel includes how to apologize to guests. In the 46 hours we stayed at this hotel, we were apologized to at least two dozen times and by different staff and management. More than two dozen! Many of these apologies were spit out at the time we were trying to check in and clearly, those apologies were not sincere – they were simply words being used by staff to try and appease a guest expecting what was promised – a room at this hotel that was reserved and paid for. • Not only with the staff at the front desk during check-in, but the manager talking about the lack of television channels available to guests, it was clearly noticed that excuses were used in ways to blame the ‘third-party' companies used by this hotel. It is the fault of the company who reserved and took payment for our room that they don't provide a means for the hotel to contact guests when changes occur. It is the fault of the cable company for not providing a package to the hotel where more channels are available to guests. It seemed that many things were the fault of someone else and not the fault of the hotel. • As to using third party companies in one's business, we both believe that as the parent company (Best Western) they are ultimately responsible for the smooth and accurate processes and services provided to guests. I used two examples to Colleen and staff during check-in, when they continued to blame that third-party company for not notifying us of a change in our reservation. They were: o President Trump has many people working for him in his cabinet, agencies, etc. If someone in those positions doesn't do their job accurately, who is ultimately responsible for ensuring things are fixed and working for those affected by the actions of one or more people? It is the president who is ultimately responsible! o Take it down a notch, if a CEO has people working for him/her and one or more people do something that affects their customers – who is ultimately responsible to fix the problems? It is the CEO! o Now let's apply this to Best Western. They utilize third-party companies who are not providing services for the benefit of their guests. Is it the responsibility of those third-party companies to ensure guests are taken care of in a positive manner or is it Best Western, the parent company, who is ultimately responsible? It is Best Western, if you hadn't already surmised. If those third-party companies are not providing services to the good of guests of Best Western, then Best Western should be either working with those current third-party companies to fix things, find other third-party companies to do their jobs correctly, or (wait for it) Best Western should do their own work by employing their own staff and keeping matters in house, where better control can be had. • Best Western, as a major chain, is represented by individual hotels located across this country. The experiences we (and other family members) had at the hotel in White Bear Lake, Minnesota were bad enough that we will not be staying at a Best Western hotel in the future. Sadly, at this hotel at least, the staff and management must believe that by apologizing for the issues/problems/shortcomings at this location, that will make things all better. Sincere apologies go a long way, but as previously stated, the apologies being spit out by staff and management at this location were simply not acceptable. It was clearly evident that those apologies were nothing more than empty shells of words. This has been a very long review of the experience we had at this Best Western hotel and on behalf of my wife, we both hope that the information you've read here will help you make an informed decision about where your stay should be if you visit White Bear Lake, Minnesota. If you do stay at this particular Best Western, you at least know what you might expect of your visit. You too may experience some of the same things we and our family did on December 7-9, 2018.

The staff was friendly and professional. The place was comfortable and relatively clean. The bed was very soft. My girlfriend loved the softness of the bed but I prefer a little firmer mattress. The morning breakfast was nice. There is a restaurant at the hotel but it closed at 4 because of the holiday. We did hear great things about it and the place was packed when I checked in at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Crazy night with police resonse. Handled strangely. Not happy with staff response as our helpfulness was not acknowledged or reimbursement offered. Hoped for some conversation in the morning but check out desk was unattended. Left property and remembered why we typically stay at Marriott properties.

White Bear Country Inn located in a convienent part of town. Decorations were beautiful. Hotel was obviously well kept. Indoor swimming in the middle of November was a big hit for children. All hotel staff made you feel like that you really were welcome.

Stayed one night while visiting for a family event. It is evident from the awards hanging all over the lobby and hallway to the restaurant that the owner takes pride in the establishment and his community. The owner/manager of Rudi's visited our table at dinner to thank us for being there (it was packed...he probably wished he had more room - good food). The room was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable with updated walk-in shower. Breakfast options were extensive and the self-serve organization nicely executed. Highly recommend this place if you are visiting the White Bear region.

Stayed two nights for a business trip and was pleased with the hotel and amenities, especially the included breakfast which was awesome. Rooms were very clean and well appointed for the price. I'll definitely stay there next time I'm back in the area for work

This is my “go-to” place when in the area in business. I've stayed in fancier hotels but this one gets five stars based on their service, facilities and location. Rooms are nice and clean and quiet. The bar and restaurant exceed any expectations you would have from a hotel. Travellers and locals fill this place nightly with decent food and drink in a nice environment. Front desk staff is always helpful. I never use the pool but it's location in the atrium is nice even if you just want to sit poolside and enjoy a cocktail. Roof top bar on summer time can't be beat.

This hotel is perfect for a family trip. They are so accommodating to children and very kind. The only complaint was that the rooms didn't feel overly clean. Floors felt kind of sticky, and the bathroom sinks were a little dirty. Other than that, awesome!

This is the place to stay if you are enjoying White Bear Lake! It is a couple blocks from the lake and the quaint down town area. The amenities are wonderful and the free breakfast and eating area are fabulous (right by the beautiful pool) Clean rooms, beds etc.

Stayed at the Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn for 3 nights while on a business stay. Booked it last minute as a hotel close to my meetings. Boy was I surprised, from the quaint charm of the hotel, cleanliness of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff all the way to the exceptional amenities like a full bar/restaurant, hot complimentary breakfasts, the pool and fitness center. Also, if you visit the area the rooftop bar is outstanding, gives you that vacation feel....go early on Tuesdays as it gets pretty crowded...Rudytini Tuesday's is a popular draw! The hotel surpassed my expectations! I would highly recommend that you check it out.

Comfort, fit and finish, and great peipke make White Bear Inn a wonderful stopover or even destination. I had family events in town and found the place convenient and cost-effective while giving a world-class experience from Rudy's Redeye Grill to breakfast (when they didn't mix pig into all the eggs. My preference was better served the other morning when only half the eggs were desecrated. Not worth a star off, but the unconcerned attitude if the attendant was not Best Western's best effort.).

A great place to feel like home away from home. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. There is a fabulous restaurant on site which makes it all the better while traveling. Indoor pool.

After a bad stay at a previous Best Western in Indiana we were hesitant on choosing another one. But what a difference there is in ownership and management. This Best Western is excellent and hit the mark in every area. The hotel is set up like a resort. Indoor pool and restaurant. Rooftop bar and patio. Hot breakfast included, and every single staff member is friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Arrived during a big local event... town packed. Room: exceptional... real furniture, nicely restored. Staff friendly, efficient. Very welcoming. Location is great... about two blocks from beach. Restaurant and hotel owned by same person so consistency in quality and service evident. Restaurant really good... definite gourmet touch... flavorful ... taste trumps... not overwhelmed by condiments, sauces, not afraid to show culinary skills... Property owner at our table within 20 min of arrival, inviting comments, suggestions... making sure we were happy... THAT is the true test of excellence. Happy to give 5 Stars! Highly recommend... Puppy thoroughly enjoyed himself, too!

The entire stay was excellent - rooms, service, food. We were there for a class reunion which was held in the hotel. Everything was excellent; the food some of the best we've had at our reunions. The public areas were clean and attractive, the staff cheerful and helpful; we would stay there again.

I was delighted to get a free upgrade to a whirlpool suite, which I loved! The front desk personnel were friendly and efficient when I arrived and checked out. I had drinks and dinner up on the rooftop at Rudy's. The food was great and the service was terrific service.

Stayed here during the Northern Invasion concert weekend. At first, thought this hotel might be too far away from the event, but it was easy to find and very relaxing. The staff was helpful, the breakfast was very good (and free), and we were very rested the next day. I would recommend staying here if you're going to a concert in the area.

Every time I stay here The place is clean food is great staff goes out of their way to find answers to Questions I may have. Always get to see Manager and greet and talk with him. The Roof top Bar awas not open because of weather On the food always goo More than I can eat love the carrot cake

From the friendliest staff to the most comfortable beds, we stayed here for a wedding weekend and reserved the suite with fold out couch, stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator... the pool was a special treat as it didn't have that chlorine smell so I was able to enjoy time with the family... clean, clean, clean!! The staff, and i mean EVERY staff member we encountered, were professional, kind, and sooo friendly! I felt like family an sooo comfortable!! Will stay again even if I have to plan a vacation to go just here!!! Such an enjoyable weekend!!! Really cant say enough!!! Oh I should add that we were 2nd floor poolside and never heard a thing... was shocked how quiet it was, but was also able to check on the kids anytime!!!

Had the Whirlpool suite, tub was dirty, towel in bathroom was dirty and looked like dried feces wiped on it and then put back to hang up dirty side facing wall. Looked under bed upon check out to see if we are leaving anything and discover chewed up dog toys, garbage, food, left over and not cleaned. Lack of air circulation, fan didn't stay on for cooling/heating. Horrible experience, only good thing was the continental breakfast and gals running it but that isn't worth $200.

I spend about twenty nights in hotel rooms each year and since they are in different cities, most of them are hotels I have never stayed in before. Because of this, I rely on reviews but it's still a crap shoot. I was a little put off by the lack of parking when I walked in the lobby so I didn't really notice it. There is a very busy restaurant in the hotel and I was there on a Friday night so parking was difficult. But thehe front desk staff was very friendly and efficient and they put me in a better mood. I opened the door to my room and was amazed. It was beautiful. The furniture and the layout belong in an upscale hotel. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Best Western Plus is a tacky chain, exactly the opposite. But I did not expect a room this fabulous in a Best Western Plus. Even the bathroom was impressive. I had showered in the morning but wanted to shower again because it was so cool!!! And there was a rubber duckie in there. I have to say that is a first for me. The best was comfortable and I fell asleep quickly. I was worried about noise because I was fairly close to the pool and lounge, but it was very quiet. Breakfast was the normal hotel hot breakfast. Eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal and various baked goods and pastries. The food was good. A newspaper and my hotel bill had been slipped under my door at night. Express check-out means I didn't have to go to the front desk to check-out if there weren't any problems or questions with my bill. That was a nice feature. I don't usually stay in the area of this hotel, but I might have to just to be able to spend a night there again!

I just couldn't get to sleep, maybe beds to soft. But I like the layout, there is a pool and you didn't smell chlorine everywhere, elevator nice, vending and ice on each floor. We stayed 2 nights and I rate 1/2 by weather or not I sleep well, otherwise I would rate this A 5

I attended a wedding in the area and stayed here. The hotel is older but well kept. The restaurant/bar was good and the service was good. The free morning breakfast was ok. We didn't use the pool. The fitness center could be larger with more weights.

This is a well run hotel that is very nicely decorated. The breakfast was very good with a lot of healthy, fresh choices. We also enjoyed the restaurant. The lobby and swimming pool area are very pleasant.

Noise at night was a problem, the fitness room was not much of a fitness room. The rooms were OK,nothing spectacular but OK. I did not care for the set up of the eating area and the pool right together, it did keep me from using the hot tub or pool. I did not feel like swimming with everyone sitting there eating.

The rooms are very clean, staff is very friendly. The hotel has a great restaurant and pool. A wonderful free breakfast in the am with nice yogurts, fruit, cereals, eggs, pancakes and waffles. There is a McDonalds right next door to the hotel. Very affordable, and again CLEAN!

The hotel was nice looking. When we got to our poolside room we had ear plugs on our night table, boy was that a clue. Our first night it was bearable, but our second night. The drinkers from the restaurant were around the pool area yelling and very disruptive. Then they also had an event in their event center that had their own bar set up. They were also loud and obnoxious. I had earbuds in, tv on and could still hear all the noise. Thought the noise would stop about 2 am when bar closes, but then the employees were moving the tables around the pool area with out lifting them when going across a pebble floor. They also rolled laundry carts down a tile hallway during the night which was also next to our room. Was not thrilled to pay as much as I did for a little sleep night.

I had a great stay here. I called before arrival to add a night and my request was handled smoothly. Check is was a breeze - very nice front desk. Breakfast was good with plenty of seating. Bed was comfy - loved the sheets! I would definitely recommend and stay again when in the area.

The best western plus White Bear Lake is a delightful surprise. I was so happy to see the huge interior with a lovely pool and even happier when I found out I had a poolside room. The rooms are spacious. Earplugs are provided for the noise from the pool. Rubber ducky's are included with the bathroom amenities. The restaurant is delightful.

Another nice stay at a Best Western...starts with walking into a warm, spacious lobby with the Christmas decorations still up and a wonderful fire in the large fireplace burning. Craig was at the front desk when we checked in and he was great, super efficient and friendly. There were also cookies at the front desk, made earlier in the day that were pretty good. The hotel is a little bit on the older side but it looks like renovations are in progress. Rooms were large and comfortable and the heat worked great, which was important as it was below zero every day we were there. The breakfast was good, but did not have the selection seen at other hotels but that was not an issue. There is a business center, and a nice, indoor pool and pool area but we did not use either of those. Would gladly stay here again.

Nice/ clean accommodations. Restaurant has decent food. Steaks are better than the over sauced pasta dishes. One side of my bed had a permanent body indentation but the other side was fine. Staff is very friendly. Rooms have plentiful bedding not just a bedspread which is a welcoming accommodation, especially in the winter.

We were Very pleased overall for our overnight New Years Eve stay and Bash Party in the Dellwood Ballroom. Planning for same at upcoming New Years 2019. Probably try to get same room 212 (King Suite) again. PS: We had also reservations at the Redeye Grill for our 38th Anniversary back on 8/4/2017.

Everything was comfortable and clean. We stayed here shortly before Christmas and the decorations outside and inside were beautiful! All the trees in the parking lot were decked out in lights, there were live Christmas trees everywhere inside along with garlands and wreaths that were awesome. The decor in the rooms was what I call "north-woods lodge" and I loved it! Our only disappointment was the whirlpool, which my husband was looking forward to using for his bad back: it was not hot. Too bad since we were poolside and it was right outside our door.

This hotel has updated, nicely furnished rooms. A larger than average flat screen TV was very welcome as well as the nice, large, glass shower. The restaurant (Rudy's) was crowded with locals and served excellent food and drinks. That's not something I can often say about a hotel restaurant!

Staying at the Best Western Plus White Bear Country is like visiting the finest vacation resort. The hotel is attractive and decorated with fascinating historic items from the community. The room and bed are the most comfortable I've experienced. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast delicious. I travel across North America 85-percent of the year, and rank this hotel as number one!

Our stay was very comfortable and the staff was excellent. Great attention to all the details and so friendly. The huge walk in shower was a great plus. The only little issue is that the room faces the pool/gathering area and the lights are on all night, make sure to use the heavy darkening shades. The room was so nice and comfy it didn't even matter. The manager has a great staff working for them.

We love staying at Best Western. We always get a jacuzzi suite. This time the jets only worked on one side of the tub which was disappointing for the money we paid. We will stay again though. Fridge worked on and off which wouldn't have been a big deal but we woke up to warm sandwiches and salads that we put in the night before

Excellent; We had family wedding in area and we were staying at this hotel because bride had selected this hotel for guests for their wedding. We will look for Best Western Plus as we were over all very happy with our stay. We felt the clothes closet was a bit small and had only limited hangers. Thank you! .

We had to come into town for a funeral. I booked multiple rooms on line for family members. When we arrived the staff helped us get a lower rate since we were there for a funeral. The rooms were very spacious and the beds were wonderful. The only trouble we had was parking since there was a holiday party going on in the banquet room. We were worried about parking in a wrong area and our car getting towed.

We stayed at the Best Western in White Beak Lake for a wedding and had a great time. We were able to sit at the tables outside the restaurant and visit with family in a very comfortable environment. We had lunch in Rudy's and it was wonderful. We took advantage of the late-night happy hour at Rudy's. All in all, we had a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

Excellent staff that serves its guests ! The owner regularly walks the hotel and greets guests, creating a special personal relationship with guests. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about guests basic needs but not in the way.

We recently spent 2 nights at this hotel for my friend's wedding. The staff was all very nice and friendly. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub as well as the restaurant/bar, wifi, & complimentary breakfast while we stayed - all were good! At first, we missed the mini fridge as it is well hidden in the cupboard under the TV. The shower was nice, new & clean and it's always nice to have the sink/vanity outside of the bathroom so it can be used while others are using the toilet or shower. Note: if you're in a pool view room you won't have any exterior light coming into your room. This is great for a mid-day nap in total darkness, but not good for getting wedding make-up done. If you want an exterior window for more natural light, you should request that. All in all, a great stay. Would return if we're ever in the area.

We threw my sister's 40th surprise birthday party here in a suite. It was perfect. The front desk staff helped check in her boyfriend (who's name was not on the reservation) to act like he had a room to check into. The bathrooms are newly remodeled and very nice. The beds were comfortable which is always a plus. I liked the convenience of the bar and the kids loved the swimming pool. The breakfast was the typical sugary carb overload but it's hard to do anything else for self-service.

I just happened to check my bank account and noticed an extra charge from the hotel. I used reward points and purchased additional points to pay for my room but was charged 30.00 extra along with a 27.00 incidentals fee which was supposed to be refunded back to me at the end of my stay. The front desk attendant said that my stay wasn't listed as a "free voucher" stay and was charged the extra 30.00. He called the general manager about this and the manager said that there was nothing he could do about it. I thanked the attendant and apologized for getting mad at him (he was just doing what he was told) and hung up the phone. I checked out the next morning and told the attendant what had happened and she said that she would talk to another manager to see if she could fix the issue. She called me to let me know that she had talked to another manager and they were working on the issue. They got the issue resolved in around 5 hours and my money was refunded me in about 5 days. I don't know what they have going on down there that a front desk attendant can get things done when a general manager can't. Sounds like they need to switch roles.

We stayed for 2 nights in a king suite. We attended a wedding at the hotel and everything was just great. They did a great job from the decor to the food. Very satisfied and would stay there again. Would love to stay in the summer when the rooftop bar is open. That looked very cool. The food in the restaurant is excellent as well.

Solid quality BW Plus, good parking, all standard amenities, with good beds and a quite nights rest. Hotel is the classic rooms surrounding the pool and breakfast area. Standard fitness area, laundry available. Breakfast food area small but lots of eating space around the pool.

This is a very nice hotel good for families, business travelers, really anyone. Décor is nice, as are the amenities although I wish the workout room was just a bit larger. Rooms are very spacious and have both a refrigerator and a microwave. Both came in handy during my stay. Very close to downtown White Bear Lake so is convenient.

Second family milestone here- wedding reception and a funeral luncheon and both were smooth and special, thanks to the staff and owner Bill Foussard. Everyone made to feel like family, great food, clean spacious rooms, friendly staff, overall we fell like we are at a friends home when we come! Thanks for making it such a memorable gathering once again!

If you are in White Bear Lake, MINNESOTA, you need to stay here. The rooms are fantastic and the staff is great and will take great care of you! It is near downtown so you will have lots to do within walking distance. This Best Western is also famil friendly.

The rooms are very comfortable, the staff are friendly and we enjoyed the weekend. It's a fun place to stay if you want to be out of the Cities but still near enough to enjoy things downtown. We highly recommend it!

Great choices for the included breakfast (but there should be a non-pork meat option); you can walk to the lake or town from the hotel; rooms are pretty good. Unfortunately ours smelled like cigarette smoke even though the hotel was non-smoking. Ladies, bring a lighted makeup mirror as their lighting is inadequate. All necessities are in the room (hair dryer, microwave, fridge, iron and board). Shower design is really bad - you have to get wet in the cold water stream to turn it on and stand in non-draining water to shower. Door lets water seep onto floor. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Always a wonderful place to stay on business, except it is like being on vacation. Staff goes out of their way to take care of your needs. Very friendly, and often you will be upgraded when available, with out an upcharge. This is a good example of a franchise/owner operator arrangement that works really well. Bill Foussard is to be complemented.

Stayed one night, passing through on our way up to Duluth to start a Lake Superior drive. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. The room temperature was easy to maintain and supplied a really nice amount of white-noise that cancelled out voices normally heard in the hallway and or nearby room(s). I have never been in a hotel that supplied in-room earplugs to their guests. That was both comical and a bit frightening at the same time. :-) I was glad that the plugs weren't necessary after all, and it was actually nice that the hotel was considerate to supply them. It was a bit damp in the room, but not bad. There was a sizable thunderstorm that lingered overnight and into the morning so I suspect that caused the slight room dampness. Overall, it was a very nice stay with comfortable sleep, good breakfast, and a nice hot shower. Couldn't have asked for more really. Good job, BWP-White Bear staff!

We stayed the weekend for a wedding about 2 miles away. This hotel was a great option to stay! Cozy rooms, warm and comfortable with cute decor! Great staff all around. Kids had a great time in the pool and later the adults had a great time at the rooftop bar!

i stay at the white bear every time i can when travelling to minneapolis ,generally once or twice a month,on the occasions when i travel on short notice or if the white bear is full i always compare the place i stay with white bear,the others never measure up,weather it is price,amenities,cleanliness,etc i always prefer white bear!

Nice hotel, good restaurant and bar. Located within walking distance to downtown White Bear Lake. Free Breakfast is a bonus! Pool area is nice and if you have kids you can watch them swim while you eat dinner and have cocktails as they have table for Rudy's out along the side of the pool.

The hotel was about what you would expect for a BW: decent linen, comfortable beds, slowest elevators in the Western world. Our one real complain is that they have both an interior pool atrium and a rooftop bar, so finding a quiet room with a little fresh air may be a challenge

I enjoyed my one night stay at this hotel however when I went to use the outlet near the sink and next to the mirror for my hair dryer I found it to be dead. Since I would use this outlet for small appliances it would have nice to have it be working. There were no other outlets near mirrors. This is an older hotel that has been updated but needs to give attention to an electrical update!

We love this hotel. We always get a poolside room. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel is pet friendly and we had our dog with on all 3 visits. The breakfast is very good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of many shops and the lake.

This place is the best for local flavor. You can stay here or walk to local bars. No Uber needed. The food at the restaurant it above average and the staff really seem to like their jobs. Since I am a vegetarian, I ordered off of the app. menu. Other family ordered full meals and the portions are all fair.

Great room friendly staff other than the one encounter when we returned to the hotel after a wedding and one late night staff member said a very rude comment towards my fiancé when we were heading up to our room. Also the toilet was not attached completly to the floor. It moved back and forth with little effort. Otherwise this place is nice

The restaurants/lounge were top class with excellent menus. The rooms were clean and pleasant. All of the staff were eager to assist and pleasant including the cleaning staff. I was called in my room by the front desk and approached by the hotel manager in the restaurant on different days (was there 3 nights) asking if everything was to my liking and if there were any problems. They definitely want to please.

We had a great experience at the Best Western White Bear Country Inn. The breakfast area was great for visiting with relatives and the food was good. The pool was a favorite with our young people and the staff accommodated some late night swimming. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. We had a great time at the hotel and appreciate everyone who made it possible.

We has a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel with all the amenities & you will too! We so enjoyed the coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator & super bed & pillows. We were there for a wedding & everything was so close to the hotel.

Been here before and have not been disappointed. Has an outdoor bar and serves some really good food. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I use this place as a half-way point when traveling to Duluth when I depart late from home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Best Western Plus in White Bear Lake Minnesota. We had traveled from northern Michigan to purchase a 1999 Corvette, and had our dog with us. We had a wonderful celebratory dinner at the restaurant, and a comfortable night. The continental breakfast was excellent.

Had a great experience at this hotel. Nice, helpful staff. Supplied us with information on things to do in the area. Also brought up another chair so we could play cards in our room. The rooftop bar was relaxing and fun. It was chilly after sundown and the propane heaters were so warm and pretty to look at. I'll be back to this hotel.

Very nice hotel, clean, nice restaurants and bar area and very good location.Rooms are large, shower large, mini fridge, flat screen,internet all were in top shape. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in White Bear. Also has indoor pool.

We stayed at the BW White Bear Country Lake Inn for a nieces wedding weekend. All the staff members there were very cheerful, friendly and helpful, right down to the maid. The food was of good quality and we felt like it was money well spent. A great value, plus the location and town of White Bear Lake made for a very memorable experience.

This was our fourth stay over the years. We love the location, you can walk to a public beach. Nice Breakfast Buffet too. Two issues, this tends to be a noisy hotel. We had to ask people to stop a loud hallway discussion at Midnight. One other reviewer commented on a particularly nasty desk employee, I think he is the same guy I had an encounter with when leaving. The drain in our sink was very slow, not a major deal for us, I just felt I should alert someone to it.As I was leaving I mentioned it to a guy behind the desk who seemed personally offended. He seemed trying to imply we weren't being accurate because we hadn't 'reported it earlier'. I wound up turning and leaving. He's a guy in his late thirties or forties, heavy set, glasses. He badly needs additional training. Otherwise we were happy.

Bfast, wifi, fridge, micro, 24 hour coffee, pool, bar, restaurant. All give everyone in your party something to do while waiting or hanging out. Hotel is clean, with plenty of parking and beautiful landscaping. Ear plugs are provided in rooms around pool and restaurant area, as they can be noisey later, but the plugs are a nice touch of hospitality.

Hotel and restaurant were very good. The Restaurant has an inside fine dining area with a bar, and an outside roof top deck with a bar. Food was excellent at both, service upstairs was good considering the large crowd enjoying the good weather. Breakfast was better than most continental breakfasts, all items were fresh and good quality. Bill the shuttle driver was the best I have experienced during the past 30 yrs of business and personal travel, if you asked a question about local destinations he would research information and have an answer. He was always on time and had a cell phone contact number for changes in schedules. You need to contact the hotel to confirm shuttle availability and schedule. Rooms were clean and comfortable but not as good as most higher priced hotels but much better than similar price hotels.

We stayed at 3 nights at this hotel while visiting the twin cities on our family vacation. I was VERY happy with the whole experience. The hotel is just outside of the twin cities making it easy for us to swing into town to visit attractions. The indoor pool was a lot of fun. We had an interior room (not one that faced the pool), and were very happy. I'm not sure I would like having my window face the pool, and I think those rooms cost more. We stayed on the top floor (down the hall from the rooftop restaurant), but I didn't have any issues with excess noise or traffic. We did notice parking got a bit tight during the dinner rush, but even that wasn't too bad.

Hi there, I stayed at this hotel as I was attending my friends wedding at the nearby Kellerman's event centre. The room was big and clean and the on-site bar was great! I had flown from England for the wedding and when I got home i realised I had mistakenly left my neck tie in my room. The lovely Barb Hartman found my neck tie and mailed back to me in the UK. I highly recommend this hotel. It has a excellent restaurant, pool, fitness center, rooftop outdoor bar, indoor bar, comfortable beds, pillows and rooms in general. Adjoining parking lot also has a McDonalds. The complimentary breakfast is just great as well. Coffee offered complimentary 24/7 and is also very good.

I recently posted a negative review about this hotel after having trouble with our room not being cleaned and more importantly, noise at night in the hallways. I was impressed that the owner called me to apologize (sincerely) for the problems; in addition, he sent me a voucher for a free night at the hotel, which I thought was a classy way to handle it.

From plush room to roof top bar - way more than I expected. We were upgraded to whirlpool suite for same price as reserved room. In addition to in room whirlpool it has a working fireplace, plush robes and a very comfortable king size bed.

We had a business meeting for 3 days in this hotel. Rooms are very clean and of sufficent size, service was very carefully. Don't expect to much from the breakfast, but it's ok. We enjoyed the roof top bar and the restaurant as well. Cost performance perfect.

The Best - Best Western I have stayed in. Nice pool area and bar/restaurant. We only stayed one night but the area was also nice and hotel was close to lake. Highly recommend if in the area. Great value too for such a good hotel.

The room was very comfortable. Two nice queen beds with nice linens. Pretty shower with nice towels. Lobby nicely appointed. I'm from California so I found the pool undersized and too humid, being that it's all indoors. But we are in Minnesota! The breakfast was ok. The little food room was super crowded and hard to navigate but the hotel was full. Housecleaning did not clean our room which I really hate. One of the pleasures for me, of staying in a hotel, is coming back to a clean room with everything restocked. So I was disappointed about that. My strong recommendation is to be careful about staying there on a weekend night during the summer due to all the weddings and partying. There are two large restaurants and bars on the property, so there is LOTS of partying going on throughout the hotel. Being awakened at 1:30 am by 4 drunk people frolicking on the hallway floor outside our door, with a dog, was disconcerting.

First hotel we have stayed at that had the remote in a plastic bag and glass ware wrapped in saran wrap for added cleanliness. The overall hotel and room were very clean and attractive. They also have a roof top restaurant we would have dined at but the weather was iffy.

Comfortable and good priced and great location room was clean but dated fitness room had elliptical machine that was broken.Great shopping near by. Restaurant Rudys was convenient and reasonably priced.

While I like the roof top bar, and that it was accessible from the 3rd floor, the hallways late at night were loud at times. The beds were super comfortable! House Keeping was slow, and never did get to our room by the time we had to start getting ready for the Wedding. Rudy's restaurant was only average food, but the roof top lounge was lovely, only wish the weather would have been nicer.

Room was very nice and comfortable. Good variety for breakfast. Wish there had been more seating at the outdoor restaurant/bar. Walking distance for shopping. The meal that was served at the banquet was not the best, meat tough, lasagna burned.

Had a great experience. Staff was super friendly and they have recently remodeled everything and it looks great. Rudy's is a must see on the deck upstairs. Great drinks and food. Will stay there again. Highly recommend!

It was a very pleasant stay. Although the hotel is older, it has been updated and the rooms are contemporary and include Keuric (sic) coffee maker - 4 pods to get your day started. The roof-top restaurant/bar has very good food and a fun atmosphere.

I arrived late in the evening and the hotel staff was thoughtful and helpful. It was perfectly location for my needs. The breakfast looked great, but I just had coffee. It was a quick trip, but I would stay here again.

We enjoyed an evening party in Stillwater for a friend's retirement. Decided to stay overnight since it was a long drive home. This hotel is very nice with lots of amenities. Our room was clean & well appointed & best of all, quiet, as we had requested. Free breakfast in the morning with dining around the pool area giving lots of space for seating. Check in & check out efficiently done. Really appreciated the generous military discount since the weekend rate was out of our desired price range.

Business partner and I stayed a week on business and ate in the hotel restaurant (Rudy's) every night. The rooms were clean and well equipped, located four blocks from the lake with plenty of food and shopping nearby. Though the food at Rudy's was outstanding (try the rib eye, pork chops and of course bull bites at every opportunity) . our trip was made memorable by our shuttle driver Bill (every trip was like a guided tour), the owner's involvement in day-to-day operations and Sean at the bar in Rudy's..... by the second night, Sean made us feel like we had been regulars there for years. Now my official MSP hotel

Great place to stay. Location is just a short walk from downtown White Bear Lake. Also easy walk from local theater group and the lake itself. Great food and drink available on site. Room we had was very nice for a standard king room. Bed was comfortable. Would stay again. Staff is great.

Excellent staff and amenities. Great location for shopping and outdoor activities. Quick into the cities but much less traffic and hassle. This is a wonderful facility. For value, location, and quality of service (including food and beverage), this location cannot be beat.

I gathered with a bunch of friends for the weekend - more of a sisterhood. We had dinner and drinks Friday night on the rooftop and enjoyed some time poolside later in the evening. After a restful night's sleep, and a delicious breakfast, we had a meeting. Then we got to enjoy lunch rooftop AGAIN!!! We met some more and then ran around WBL to visit the town. My favorite part of the whole weekend was being rooftop!!!

Upon my arrival, though I am familiar with the location, I was still presently surprised by the excellent customer service. The rooftop grill food was spectacular (as usual) and the staff were extremely helpful. The pool was great as was the hot tub.

I booked the hotel for a group of 15 for a meeting. The staff working with us to book was flexible, answered all of our questions, and accommodated all of our requests. Upon check in the front desk staff was friendly and provided information on our stay and what rooms would be used for our meetings. We dined on the Rooftop twice during our stay and although it was a little brisk, the staff made sure that we were warm enough. The location is so convenient as well with all the quaint shops and other establishments in downtown White Bear Lake, it was just a great weekend overall!

I was one of 14 women who spent this past weekend at this establishment for a retreat. Not only did we have productive meetings, but we were able to have free time, too. This allowed us to have pool and sauna time and have excellent meals at Rudy's Redeye Grill including the rooftop dining. The owner welcomed us to his establishment, and the service we got at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. All of the wait staff also served us well. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, and the beds were comfortable. I especially enjoyed using the Keurig coffee maker that was on my room.

The room was beautifully decorated- very comfortable beds and pillows. I could adjust the temperature in the room to be what I wanted. The bathroom facilities were clean- but I really enjoyed having big fluffy towels and enough of them to take a shower and use one for my hair and a different one for my body. They have towels down in the pool area too- so you don't have to worry about forgetting your towel in the room before you head down. The rooftop restaurant bar was delightful- there were even blankets to wrap around your shoulders if you got cold. The food was delicious- generous portions.

I enjoyed my weekend get away in White Bear Lake a great deal - in large part due to the great accommodations at White Bear County Inn. The rooms are beautiful and modern and the bed was so comfy I wish I could take it home with me. The breakfast area, pool area, and fitness room were top notch and all of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The attached restaurant and roof-top bar/restaurant were a great feature too. All the food was so good and the surroundings so pleasant. I won't hesitate to stay again in the future!

This hotel has a very nice staff, friendly and helpful. Excellent pool area. Great breakfast. Comfy beds. It is close to the downtown restaurants and shops. We had the best farm to table meal at Margaux's Table just down the street. Only downside was we were on the first foot across from laundry and it was very noisy.

We stayed here on our wedding night and had a lovely time. Jacuzzi is very nice! The fireplace was also great. We were able to check in early by calling earlier in the day, the staff was extremely pleasant. We didn't get a chance to swim but the pool looked really nice.

Excellent facility & service. Owner personally checking with guests at breakfast...Impressive. We will return when visiting family in WBL. Only negarive..Outside area..Many cigarette butts around..Appears that many staff members smoke...Should clean up after themselves

My family and I were looking for a local hotel to get out of the house for a weekend and just have some relaxation time at a pool, restaurants, etc. This was a great choice. Cost was very reasonable for what you get. A clean, well maintained hotel. We were very happy. My only "negative" so to speak, is the rooms seemed smaller than comparable rooms at other hotels we've stayed at.

Stayed here two separate time for hockey tournaments. Great experiences both times. Very nice pool and lounge areas. The restaurant/bar has excellent food and drinks. It is higher end though and prices reflect this. Rooms are clean and comfortable with updated decor. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.

It was a decent stay , the shuttle service was great to us . The front desk was very helpful about recommending places to eat and places to site see at. The only issue some of us really has was the noise , a lot of us could hear our neighbors having conversations through the nights . Apart from hearing everything from the rooms it was a good stay. And breakfast could be a bit better

Everything was what I expected. Room was clean ,staff was friendly and cooperative pool area was clean ,breakfast was what I expected , overall a very good trip ! My trip to Minnesota was a great time.

I highly recommend Best Western Plus@ White Bear Lake. Staff is helpful, rooms are comfortable , and shuttle service makes it a plus.Location is convenient. Area dining in Summer months is outstanding.

Have stayed here twice while in the area for business. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable with nice water pressure for the shower. The pool is nice and the area around the pool is kept neat and clean. Breakfast is your typical motel food but the young lady kept it well stocked and clean. Definitely a nice place to stay if going to the twin cities and you do not need to be downtown.

great place to stay, always clean, friendly staff ,and located near my union hall. would recommend it to anyone staying in the area any time i have been unable to get a room here [due to short notice or the hotel being booked up] i always end up paying more for an unsatisfying experience

This Best Western hotel is well appointed and the staff is cheerful and attentive. Kevin (front desk) exemplifies the high standards one might expect at a 5 star facility. Check in was simple and quick. The hot breakfast (included) was an enjoyable bonus. If I changed anything about it, it would be the "powdered eggs". My room was immaculate and updated. The bed was Very comfortable and I consider myself fussy when it comes to this aspect of travel accommodations. Ambient noise from hallway, plumbing use and adjacent rooms may pose an issue for some but my stay was quiet and restful. For the purposes of feedback, the structure could have better acoustical soundproofing but the benefits far outweigh this issue. The lobby is comfortable and handsomely decorated. Great spot to enter this post.

If you have kids....may be ok! We were there for a family wedding. Check-in took forever, like no one knew what was going on. Very noisy in lobby area. Too crowded. When asking a question the staff could not answer without getting a manager. Room was too small for a king size bed. Very uncomfortable room. Breakfast too small for the number of people using it poor flow.

If you are going to the Twin Cities and staying on the North Side of St. Paul just go to the White Bear Inn and save yourself a lot of time and the possibility you might be disappointed. The folks at the Inn (especially Nick) will take care of your every need and go out of their way to make your stay like being at home. Except the bed is better!

My entire family stayed here for two days for my daughters wedding. And everything that was promised happened. Correct rooms were reserved, everything we requested was provided. Shuttle service to and from the reception was spot on. No hassles and service was excellent. Definitely one of my favorites in the local area

I've stayed at this hotel and reviewed it numerous times, but each time another touch of personal, caring service catches my eye and I make a point of writing about it. As I was having a cup of coffee and some food in the morning, the owner personally came around to each table where people were eating breakfast and asked two questions "how is your stay?" and "is there anything we can do better?". That should be the standard in all hotels, and that is ultimately the culture that Mr. Foussard has created in this hotel.

I have stayed here many times and I will keep coming back. It is one of my favorite places to stay in the Twin Cities. It is one of the few places where I know it is in a good location and that it is pet friendly. The only bad part was there were so many stains on the carpeting from prior pets.

Arrived on my wife and I's anniversary. They changed our reservation from a suite to a pool side room right next to the breakfast station. Front desk was not helpful at all. They were on their cellphones for 10 minutes before they actually spoke to me.

I don't normally write about hotels because I stay in a lot of them as a traveling sports photographer but this Best Western Plus White Bear Country Inn is worth noting. Don't let the 30 minute drive from MSP fool you, it's worth the ride. I live in Los Angeles so it takes me that long to find a great radio station! The hotel is very clean, the rooms nicely decorated with wall art, great bedding, comforters, marble shower, Keurig coffee in room, desk setup, good wifi, and a great staff. They extended my stay an extra 90 minutes, had a great attitude, good breakfast, etc. And the owner walks the property asking if there is anything they can do better. What a shock, people who care! I'll stay here again for sure. Worth the ride!

We stayed 2 nights here. Upon arrival at 7pm Thursday, we were told we couldn't check in yet. What??? Apparently they were doing some sort of tour of the rooms, and ours was one of them. We were told to come back at 7:30. So.... we waited in our car for half an hour, went back to the front desk at 7:30, where we were checked in. Unloaded the car, went to our room. The door was open, they were still clearing out whatever they had been using in there (table, ice buckets, etc.). So....we waited in the hall until someone came to get the long table out. Eventually, we had a good stay. The hotel is in a good location, it's quiet, and the staff is polite. I recommend the onsite restaurant, the burgers are great. Like the title of my review said, I would have probably given it 5 stars if they hadn't annoyed me right at the beginning. I am still wondering what would have happened if we had arrived at 3pm, which is check in time. Also, it would have been nice if we were given an apology...

I am so sorry that our front desk had not explained this when your reservation was made. We were having an open house where people were touring our rooms. If you would have called earlier or tried to check in earlier the rooms would not have been open for reservation. The original plan was that these rooms would be off market until the following day. After we had been sold out we decided to be able to accommodate our guests wanting a room that evening we would get them cleaned and flipped as soon as the open house was over at 7pm. We only have an open house every couple of years. But I want you to know that I truly am sorry that our front desk had not explained this in further detail and of course apologized for the inconvenience. Rooms are good, but the owner is around and interact with the customers. He even delivered food to the Terrace at 11:00PM then talked to him the next morning at 8;00AM. Rudy's has great food......The breakfast is quick to clean the area and keep the tables open to others. Food was good.

This Hotel has very comfortable facilities in a very nice location at White Bear Lake Minnesota with friendly personnel with moderate cost. The breakfast was especially very good. I plan to stay there the next time I am in the St. Paul, Minnesota area.

We spent 2 nights here while visiting family in the area....what a nice hotel in a safe and convenient location! White Bear Lake is a lovely quaint community with so much to offer! The White Bear Country Inn is a beautiful place to stay. The room was totally updated (BT enabled alarm clock, AC & USB outlets on the night-stand and desk light fixtures) and very clean. Parking is available next to the building and near an entrance that is convenient to the room. They serve real eggs scrambled up rather than those biscuit paddies that many other places have. Flavored creamers are available. This place is Great! Stay here and you will not be disappointed!

The staff greet me by name, my room is always clean and comfortable, minor maintenance items are taken care of immediately. This property is just a couple blocks from a great downtown area, and very pleasant run along White Bear Lake. When you add in the great food at both the Rooftop and in the restaurant, what else could you ask for?

great stay as always i come to the twin cities 10 to 15 times a year for work related conferences the only time i dont stay here is when i book too late and they are full,the hilton or other places i wind up in always dissapoint in comparison

I've stayed hear with clients and time after time, they can't believe how nice this Best Western is. (Nothing against BW but this is several notches above their average) Place is super clean, great pool, nice indoor bar but the deck bar on the roof is the star of this place. Great for relaxing, cold drinks and good atmosphere. On site restaurant is very good as well. The employees give 110% every visit.

Always try to book at Best Western in White Bear Lake, friendly staff & clean rooms. Pretty quiet at night & plenty of parking with a great location to downtown White Bear and close to the freeway. Only problem I have is trying to get a room there, they are always booked because it's the best hotel around. So book way in advance.

We were on our way to the N. Shore and stayed here overnight. the hotel was what one should expect of a B-W Plus-very good! Staff could not have been better and having a restaurant on premises is a plus-never mind quite noisy(most are today). We will stay here again.

My two daughters and a friend of the family stayed for two nights. The service we received was above and beyond any hotel that I have stayed at in the past. In fact, we were spoiled by how nice this place was as compared to the other places we stayed on the last half of our trip.

Great hotel!! We were upgraded to a pool-side room and hung out on the pool deck all evening. Breakfast was hearty. Loved the décor too. Rudy's roof top was fun. I've never seen anything like that outside of a big downtown area.

Each and every one of our stays are great. Treated like family. Wouldn't stay any where else Staff, food faciities all great The roof top bar is terrific. Rudys Red Eye restuarant is also a wonderful place to eat

Barbara has a wonderful staff. No complaints about employees or way I was treated Highly recommend to anyone traveling to this area for business, pleasure-whatever. Hotel m housekeeping tried to make it pleasant stay. Front desk clerks were knowledgeable and friendly.

This is the Best Western I've stayed at the most by far and the owner's commitment to excellence is reflected with each new stay. The suite I stayed in this time has a few new paintings, new digital clocks (with a faint blue display that does not disturb one's sleep but is visible enough in the dark to be useful), and the walk-in shower was further improved such that water can be turned on without the guest getting wet with cold water as the hot water makes its way to the shower head. The direct billing arrangement simplifies paperwork a great deal and I would highly recommend it to any business travelers who come to the area more than once a year. My only regret is that the owner had already left before I arrived and thus I didn't get to catch up with him, but his personal, daily presence at the hotel is reflected on the high level of service delivered.

On this trip I stayed in RM 204, one of the updated rooms. The bathtub was gone and in it's place was a tiled shower with extremely good water pressure. That was such a big improvement. Another reason I like this hotel is the food. They go out of their way to accommodate our group.

We left items behind, called the hotel twice, left 2 messages for Housekeeping. No call returned. Also left a message for General Manager, no call returned. It is disappointing the staff will not return our call to attempt to assist us with our lost items. Poor customer service for returning customer calls. We still have not received a return call. We will purchase new items which were left behind.

Hotel was clean and well kept, pool area and jacuzzi, and roof top bar a plus. Nice area of White Bear Lake, a few blocks from the lake, also a nice area to walk along the lake about 5 blocks away. Kids had a good time.

The best choice for business or pleasure while visiting White Bear Lake. Excellent value and quality with great on site restaurant and bar PLUS in easy walking distance of the Lake trails and downtown. They are popular so you need to book reservations early.

This has been an annual visit on our way to Duluth for Grandmas Marathon. The hotel is always clean with tasteful decor. The staff never disappoints and goes out of their way to assist. Definitely a 5 star.

The hotel grounds and rooms are just exceptional. I would go back passing through the Minneapolis area every time. The only reason I don't give this place the full amount of stars was that my husband and I were arriving quite late and the front desk night employee treated us very poorly almost as if were stupid.... which I suppose could be his personal opinion, but something about his persona tells me he's just that way. Customer service is almost the most important thing about an experience for me.

Absolutely love this hotel! I've stayed here three times for a total on 22 days. I've never had a bad experience. The staff is fantastic and have everything you need no questions asked. There is a complementary breakfast available with eggs and meat. There are many carb type foods available as well as yogurt etc. Coffee is available anytime day or night. Very nice pool/hot tub centrally located and close to the bar/restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, I was blown away by the excellent food and service. Not what you would typically find for a restaurant attached to a hotel. There is a cute roof cafe/bar on the third floor as well. I was there on business for two of the trips and had the pleasure of being shuttled by Bill the driver. Bill is awesome! Very polite, patient and accommodating. You need to go the the drug store at 10 at night or a local night spot? Bill can get you there AND pick you up, any time. He's also a wealth of knowledge about the area and best places to go for food or what not. It was such a pleasant experience I made sure to stop back in my way through on vacation.

We happened to stay during a local festival. Parades, car shows etc. White Bear Lake is a lovely community, and only 20 minutes from the Twin Cities. The Best Western was as good as it gets. The restaurant has an excellent menu. We had the salmon, baby back ribs and scallops---all excellent. Great room service.

Excellent accommodations very friendly staff!! Had no reason to leave the motel other than for business! Love the indoor pool. Love the restaurant on site with roof top bar and a bar down stairs. Room were very clean and comfortable. Would recommend coming here anytime your in town and looking for a place to stay. The front desk was very helpful with everything.

We found that the rooms with two double beds did not provide ample space between the bed and the wall to easily get up and down to the end of the bed. We would have preferred a room with only one bed and more space to move around during our stay.

This was my third or fourth time staying at this Motel. The location is perfect for access to the Twin Cities but still has a get away feel. The motel itself has all of the amenities that I look for and the location and the setting is very nice. I especially love the walk about feel of downtown White Bear Lake and being able to utilize the lake and all that it has to offer.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus in Whit Bear Lake. The room was spacious, clean and most importantly, quiet. We relaxed with a swim in the indoor pool before bedtime. Breakfast offered a good variety of items - both hot and cold. We were pleasantly surprised by a visit from the manager who was interested in any improvements that we might suggest to the hotel or its service. It was worth the trip north of St. Paul to stay there.

Having stayed at the Best Western numerous times a year for the last 5-6 years I will continue to enjoy the hotel (unless they are booked up) I HOPE that NEVER happens. Nick at the front desk makes each stay a pleasure.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We had a 3 floor room with a view of pool area. A little noisy in the morning but not so much annoying at all. After all a good night's sleep is all we needed. We're up early to get to the Festival grounds in Somerset. The front line staff we had issue with (rude) but this was rectified by the daytime manager. All in all a great, clean place to stay. Go to the breakfast ! It's really good??

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise in almost every way. My room was small but it was a corner room and I was by myself so I didn't mind. The furnishings and appointments exceeded what I would normally expect to find in a Best Western. They were comparable to what I have found in much pricier properties. It appears to be recently and nicely renovated. I did not eat in the restaurant but appeared to be quite upscale....maybe even a bit too much if you are travelling with a family or on a budget. But White Bear Lake is full of restaurants. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and served near a very attractive pool courtyard. Service throughout the hotel was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again without hesitation.

the room was very clean, nice showers and beds. it wasnt too far from the Rudys, which makes awesome food and has great bar with friendly staff. The shuttle driver Bill Matthews was very informative, polite and made sure we arrived on time.

This hotel has it right. Every employee goes out of their way to give great service. They smile and interact with guests and sincerely appear to like their job. It creates a great atmosphere for guest.

In town for a baptism and this was the only suggested hotel. Surprised ahead of time that we were paying so much for a BW Hotel (we've stayed in many and are generally happy with them). Once we got there we saw there was an indoor pool/holodome that we didn't know about. Our room overlooked this area, not a thrill. We also didn't need the restaurant and lounge, but loved the morning breakfast. In the future I'll check a little more as to why/what we're paying extra $ for.

Seemed like it should have cost more for how nice it was. Nice little pool. Great restaurant and lounge. Shuttle service was fantastic. Bill took us wherever we wanted to go all day. He organized all of our trips we just had to tell him where and when we wanted to go and he would let us know when to meet him in the lobby. He even organized our trip to the airport on our last day. All we had to do was give him our flight times and he did the rest! Great experience!

Do not stay here if there is a wedding! The band was very loud. I should have known something was up when they provided complementary ear plugs. When I called down to complain about the loud music. I was told the wedding party was allowed to have music until midnight. I wasn't told when I checked in that my room was over the pool area and that it would very loud until midnight!! I guess only the wedding matter!

We stayed here for a week with 3 kids and our dog. The first thing I noticed was that the center pool does not smell like chlorine - its a salt water pool. They provide lush, yellow towels in the hotel room. We had the family suite which was very comfortable. The breakfast every morning has fresh scrambled eggs and a different choice of meat every morning. Not powdered eggs! Rudy's Restaurant is fine dining. Great food but expensive. The Ribeye Steak Dinner was $39. Is was good - but not sure worth $39. The owner of the hotel was present on site many days and personally greeted us and asked if there was anything they could do to make our stay better. Was impressive to see many school events being hosted at the hotel (hockey award ceremonies, etc.).

After many, many stays we are still impressed with everything they have to offer. Will NOT stay anywhere else. Nick at the front desk is a "friend" and takes such good care of us. I recommend is strongly.

Good Service, Comforting Decor, All around nice evening. We reserved a King room Suite. It was perfect for us. I would highly recommend this Hotel. The complimentary breakfast was lacking in options of food choice. We're used to having more to choose from (eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, etc.) Otherwise our experience was good.

I was immediately impressed with the staff when I checked in. I accident y left my rental car keys in the business center. When the the staff found them, they somehow managed to identify the rental car agency and determine my name. They retuned the keys to me before I even realized I had lost them. It wouls have been very expensive if I had to replace the keys.

This is a lovely inn, with historic features, nicely decorated, and a first-rate restaurant with warm weather rooftop seating. Good location, nice staff, ample amenities. Have I noted the high quality of the restaurant?

This hotel always meets expectations. Really enjoy the meals served at Rudy's. The staff is always cordial. Usually stay here once a year or so for business. Like that it is convenient to downtown White Bear, a great place to walk and shop.

What a great place. Big towels, beautiful shower, SEVEN pillows, extra blankets, LOTS of coffee, micro, frig. We could have used one more chair. We asked for an extra luggage rack and it was provided. Very nicely decorated and lots of lighting. The bar and restaurant (Rudy's) are absolutely beautiful! During happy hour, they have snacks and hard boiled eggs, complimentary, at the bar. I'm never sure about wifi because we use our own. Just a wonderful place. Stay here.

I have enjoyed staying at this hotel for several years now, when passing traveling to Minnesota. Friendly, helpful staff and well maintained comfortable rooms. Very nice restaurant and lounge. Nice quiet location near lots of shopping.

The staff at White Bear Country Inn goes out of it's way to be friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and maintained well. The recent remodeling of the bathrooms adds to the comfortable surroundings. Add the great location and the quaint downtown area and you have the perfect place to stay in the MSP area. We have stayed here many times and will be back.

My twin girls love to stay here every once in a while with their friends and they feel like they are on vacation even though we live close. If we have a 3-day weekend from school, this is always what they want to do. Come and hang out by the pool and get a great meal at Rudy's.

Clean rooms, small pool, and great location for getting into the cities. Pool was small bit did not have that overwhelming smell of chlorine. Rooms were super clean and staff were on point with anything we needed

This is my second stay. I liked the convenience of being right on Hwy 61 N. It has a top notch restaurant attached with a fast food restaurant next door. The rooms are larger than normal with a fridge and microwave. I liked the walk in shower. The eating area tables are not that convenient for breakfast if crowded because of the layout. The hot breakfast choices are good.

I travel to White Bear Lake for business frequently. As I enter the door on Sunday evening I'm greeted by name by Nick, the clerk at the desk. He always does his best to accommodate my room type requests. The staff in Rudy's are also friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. White Bear Country Inn is my home away from home.

My wife and I decided to stay here on our one year anniversary. We were super excited for peace and quiet and a night away from our two children. When we first arrived we were super impressed with the decor and how clean everything looked. We ended up having to wait close to five minutes before an employee came up to the counter to check us in. She was very apologetic and friendly to my wife and I. I would suggest a bell or something to notify employees when a guest is waiting to be checked in. We arrived in the room and were very happy with our suite. The happiness did not last long due to the walls being paper thin. We could hear the people in the next room over clear as day and could hear the commotion in the hallways. Also we were next to the stairwell and vending machines and you could hear them clear as day as well. Finally when we decided to get into the whirlpool in our suite the jets barely worked and were super loud to the point we couldn't hear each other talk. Overall the hotel seemed nice just disappointed the price we paid couldn't get us peace and quiet which we were hoping for due to a night away from our children, and the amenities didn't work like they should which is the reason we got the suite. Definitely don't think we will be back for a stay.

We like to stay at this hotel for the pool side rooms. The kids can swim and the parents can sit by the pool. On our last trip, the chlorine levels in the pool were off causing skin irritation, but that has not been our experience in previous stays. Our guest room could have used a more thorough cleaning, especially vacuuming around the beds, but overall we were please with our experience and would stay at this hotel again.

Had a great trip to white bear, mn. Stayed at the best western country inn. Great service and great place to stay. Had to be shuttled back and forth to the Schwing plant and the driver was awesome. Bill Matthews went above and beyond his call of duty. I asked him if he could get me to the airport on Thursday at 5:00 in the morning. His response was, no problem. He was a great help for us. Give him a raise, he deserves it.

Disappointing. Very dirty, worn out, cigarette butts all over the ground near rear entrances, carpets unvacuumed in hallways and in the room. OVERPRICED. I canceled my reservation for subsequent nights booked and went elsewhere.

I had a reservation on a Company Direct Bill account (corporate) that requires no deposit or cc for incidentals as we as a company do not charge incidentals to our rooms - we have expense accounts. I inquired as to the amount they would charge to my card if I did by chance give them one and it was equivalent to 2 nights room and tax ( the reservation was for 2 nights). I then inquired when this would then be unloaded from the card, and was told it would take 7 - 10 days. This hotel wants to take my money for 7-10 days when I am only going to stay for 2? If it is paid up front, it should be refunded at checkout, anything else is fraud. I have been traveling on this corporate account for over 10 years and never have run into anything like this. If by accident there were any "incidentals", the hotel is authorized to direct bill my company who then collects it from me (it is in their contract with the corporate account.) Needless to say, I went someplace else where the staff/hotel was more reasonable and not so greedy. My company is now also pulling their corporate account for this hotel.

We've stayed at a number of different Best Westerns, and this is one of the nicest ones. The rooms are clean and up to date. Their breakfast is quite good, and there is a very nice restaurant located in the building, overlooking the pool. Check in and out were quick and easy.

The online pet policy states nothing about not accepting cats. Upon check in we were told no cats. They were nice enough to let us stay, but told we couldn't come back with cats. Otherwise, it is a nice place!

Therefore you would need to call the actual hotel you wish to stay at to inquire what their individual policy is. Bill Matthews was our driver of the Hotel shuttle. He was wonderful. He had the van heated & got us to our class on time each day. He showed up to take us back & was on time every day. He offered to transport us anywhere we wanted to go. He was a great resource for local information & history. He was pleasant & helpful. If you need transportation ask for Bill! The Hotel was awesome too. Front desk folks were pleasant & helpful. Good food at the restaurant & good service. The only negative is that the hot tub is too small & after about 3 people are in there it's too crowded. Overall a good experience.

My wife and I stay at this hotel every year on our wedding anniversary and it never disappoints! The staff is wonderful, and courteous, and the amenities are great. It is a great hotel, and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area!

I stay at this hotel about once a month. All aspects of this hotel are consistently good. From the staff, to the overall hotel, to the room itself, I've always been very satisfied. They consistently take care of everything.

It was good service at the counter when checking in and out. We had a wedding to go to located just down the road. If there was a negative, it's the effort of getting on the highway from the hotel...to go south, you need to go thru a McDonalds parking lot and get on the road with no lights. Or...go through downtown that takes a little while. Hey, the hotel is good, they are going thru a major remodeling project and the rooms, bed and decor are very nice. A little tight...since it's a hotel that was built in the 60's...but like I said, very nice room and area for breakfast. We would stay again.

This hotel was fun. We loved the rooms overlooking the atrium/pool. Onsite restaurant was convenient and good. Would stay there again. We Hosted a work event in their meeting rooms and had good service.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus in White Bear Lake. The rooms were very clean, spacious, comfortable and the staff was very welcoming and accommodating! Also, the hot breakfast was delicious and we definitely hope to be back!

Hotel was very clean, staff were kind and helpful. Rudy's restaurant was very good, excellent presentation and fast service. Rooms were very clean, all amenities worked well. Definitely would stay there in the future.

Our hotel room was very nicely decorated as was the lobby and pool area. Check in was fast and easy, housekeeping kept our room clean and smelling good, and breakfast staff were helpful! The breakfast was always fresh with several hot options (eggs, sausage, pancakes,& waffles). Room has many extras such as Bath and Body shampoo/conditioner/lotion, earplugs, vanity set, and Keurig coffee maker. Pool area was great (not too humid or too cold, etc) and hot tub was clean and very relaxing! Would definitely return!!

Best Western White Bear Country Inn never disappoints. Stayed at the Inn in December. Place was decorated quite nicely and folks were in the Christmas sprit. Rooms very comfortable and the remodeling effort really shown.

This was a nice country best western with a friendly and helpful staff. There are some renovations going on but nothing that caused disruption and you could see the bathroom improvements made in the rooms which were nicely done. Rooms are spacious and quiet. There is a nice restaurant attached. The shuttle service and especially the driver were outstanding. My only complaint or suggestion is regarding availability of bottled water. I arrived at 11 pm and no water in room or offered at check in. No lobby area shop for snacks or drinks. Only vending machines on each floor. Of those only 1 offered water which required a bit of a hunting expedition. All other machines were sodas only. Oh and bathroom sink was seriously needing a drain cleaning as it barely drained. Front desk was alerted and they seemed grateful to get feedback and ensured it would be handled promptly but I only stayed 2 nights and did not see if they followed through. All in all solid and recommended especially if they make availability of water a lot better.

Hotel is located in nice and quite area, staffs were very friendly, rooms were very clean and modern. Breakfast bar enough selections. Our driver Bill, he was awesome. He is a tour guide, he was willing to drop us off some places we asked to visit.

Although there were 10 pillows in the room they were all over-stuffed and impossible to sleep on. The beds were hard. The staff was nice and the rooms clean, but after a bad night's sleep the overall experience was not one we want to repeat again.

Unfortunately, room 108 was inundated with party noise on Friday night. If you have an issue with noise, request a room elsewhere in the hotel..We stay at this hotel about 5 or 6 nights a year. The food was very good. Facilities were excellent. I realize the staff really tries to accommodate the guests. I don't know what can be done about the party noise.

He close the pool by 10pm each night as to be considerate of these rooms. I would highly recommend this motel. The rooms were excellent (roomy, clean and comfortable). The lounge and the sitting area with a fireplace was cozy, hospitable and friendly. Every evening the restaurant/lounge area was packed, and the food was excellent and prices extremely affordable. They have a roof bar/restaurant, but the weather was too cold. The outside perimeter was well lit with plenty of parking. I will be staying here for my next business trip.

We had a large family gathering and chose this location. What a clean, accomodating, and quality facility. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. We had 25-30 prople for a dinner, the staff was an invisible top quality team, that managed us a large restaurant. It mus be good the locals were in full attendance. The noise factors were wonderful, and quality of food was special.

We stayed in this hotel for one night with our 4 children. We had a 2 room suite which was plenty spacious and nice. Kids enjoyed the pool area, was warm and well kept. Did not use the restaurant, but the continental breakfast was nice. Nice lobby area, room was clean and comfortable. Would stay again. McDonalds close to hotel as well as gas station and other restaurants. Not a overly busy location with much traffic. Easy to find.

My son was married in September and we had 30 rooms booked at this hotel. When my wife and I attempted to check in they told us we didn't have a room booked. The strange thing about this is my brother and his wife checked in a few hours before us and they used my name when talking with him. They said they had a room under my name at that time. Unfortunately they did not even apologize for the mistake they made because we found out they gave our room to someone else. We had no place to stay at our own sons wedding so we had not choice but to drive home. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone as in my opinion the manager is dishonest. She tried to tell me that my brother actually cancelled my room. When I told her my brother was near and would be happy to join us in this conversation, she turned red in the face and had nothing more to say. All she had to do was simply apologize and admit they made a mistake. I found out later they charge my son and his new wife double for their room. They did fix this mistake but it is clear to me they have issues at the front desk of this hotel and also a poor manager. Shame on you!!

Here for a wedding in town and it was a convenient location but was pleasantly surprised at how nice the whole atmosphere was - we had fun in the lounge before and after the wedding. The rooms were very nice - comfortable bed.

I have been giving very good reviews to this place for about as long I've been staying there, which is now a few years. The owner, Mr. Bill Foussard, delivers true hospitality through his hotel and restaurant via a personable yet professional quality style of doing business. The vast majority of my time at this place has been for business but I highly recommend it for pleasure as well.

Stayed here again for the fourth time & I am always glad I did! Dinner at Redeye is always top notch. Great atmosphere & excellent food. Room was exceptional as always! Nick at the front desk is the best! I will be back again soon. Make sure you stick around in the morning for the breakfast buffet. I will always recommend the White Bear.

Always a good choice. You are met with a smile and a desire to please as you walk in the door. Every attempt made to place you in the most quiet room is made. Folks are always willing to go out of their way to help, especially Nick. Keep going back time over time and there are a good number of choices in the area.

The room was good and the heated pool was great. However, the staff made this hotel stand out. When we called back and informed the hotel that my little girl had left behind her Teddy Bear, the general manager boxed it and mailed it to us immediately. My daughter asked us to tell the general manager "you're the best".

Overnighting while on business I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The staff was friendly and the bar and restaurant was a nice surprise. good food and drinks at reasonable prices. My only complaint is that the bed was less than comfortable (poor or old mattress).

We stayed just one evening here...but...I wish it had been more! The outside area was very well maintained...colorful flowers and trees. There was even a pet exercise area...a grill and picnic table outside. We arrived a bit before normal check in time...and were pleased we were able to check right in. Shelby [front desk] was so cheerful! I inquired about a complimentary upgrade as I am an upper level rewards member...which sometimes allows for those nice extra perks. Shelby quickly found me an upgrade to a family suite. Many thanks Shelby!! :) I have to make mention of how impressed I was with the key card system. Instead of putting your card into the lock...which is typical at most hotels...you just tap your key on the lock and viola! [It's the little things. Lol!] Upon entering the room...we were thrilled with how spacious it was. Besides the two queen beds...we had a couch [pull-out] and two nice chairs...work desk and a kitchenette--with real dishes/cups/silverware. The kitchen area also had a microwave/mini fridge/dishwasher/sink/Keurig coffee maker. The bathroom had a vanity and closet area separate from the tub and toilet...which I always appreciate. They even leave a little rubber ducky on the tub..that you can keep. My toddler loved this! The toiletries were great also: Neutrogena face soap and Bath and Body works soap/shampoo/conditioner/lotion. There was even a shower cap. The beds were plush and oh-so-comfortable...we slept like babies! They had ear plugs on the bedside table as well...a very thoughtful perk...as not everyone is a deep sleeper. Our room did overlook the awesome pool area. Since we were there during the week...it never got too loud. I could see how it may though...on busier days. Speaking of the pool area...talk about gorgeous! It was themed to represent a European-esque village. [Think outside...inside.] Inside the gated pool area--besides the pool and hot tub--were fountains, statues and trees...giving it even more of park-like feel. There are tables both inside and outside the gated area. Part of the restaurant also has seating alongside the pool. Great use of space! The restaurant: Rudy's Red Eye...looked very nice. We did not dine there so...I can't comment too much. They do have an fantastic looking outdoor rooftop patio seating area though...weather-permitting. Seemed like a fun and lively environment. The lobby is comfortable...with seating and a fireplace. Just off the lobby is a game room with several video games...for children of all ages. Also nearby was a business center with computers/printers for guest use. The free wifi worked very well...no slowness or outages. 24-hour coffee is available outside the breakfast area. Breakfast in the morning was good. It's an expanded continental breakfast. They had scrambled eggs/sausage/biscuits...and the usual suspects: make-your-own waffles/yogurt/cereal/pastries/bagels/english muffins/fruit/coffee/juice...even lemonade. Everything tasted fresh. Seating is in the pool area. The property is very modern and well-kept. You feel right at home and all the employees we encountered--everyone from front desk to housekeeping and maintenance were so friendly...making it a point to acknowledge you and chat a bit. Wonderful!! Adjacent to the hotel is a McDonald's. So...you do have other dining options if the hotel restaurant isn't your thing. Also...there is a gas station very close. Great location...simple to find and get to. It's obvious they take much pride in their property. This is easily one of the nicest Best Westerns I've stayed in...all around. We will absolutely return!

If you want a great place to get away from the City but still be close to all kinds of amenities. This is a great place to stay. White Bear Lake is a great walk about town with the lake, great restaurants, night life, shops, etc... This Motel also offers so much that you wouldn't even have to leave the motel. The Pool, Hot Tub, work out room, Restaurant and bars are great!

Stopped for one night with hubby. Nice room, not the typical bland hotel furniture and decor. Love the old White Bear Lake historical society photos with descriptions in the hallways. Shower stall in bathroom really nice. Never seen one without tub which is fine because how many people actually use a regular bathtub in a hotel. Hotel Restaurant, Rudy's Ribeye Grille was really nice. Food was good. We came in on a cold day so missed out on rooftop dining which would have been neat. We wanted to swim or use hot tub but chose not to because it's located right outside restaurant. They also have several dining tables around pool and since we're no hotties in suits, we didn't feel comfortable getting starred at by their customers. Pool area has decor of buildings like inside Vegas casinos so that was neat. They had free earplugs in our room (another hotel first) for sleeping which makes us nervous about it being a noisy hotel. Not a good sign but we shall see.

The rooms where vary clean. The hotel provided transportation for are group to and from the training we were attending and any where we wanted to go. The driver Bill was great he was full of information and was alway offering to take us places we wanted to go.

Pros - Saltwater pool, very nice jacuzzi suites w/fireplace and walk in showers, decent bed, very good extended hot & cold breakfast, rooftop restaurant and neat themed pool area. Cons - Noisy overall between rooms but not floors, cleaning staff does not speak English. The overall shining issue is that it is noisy between rooms but there is cement between floors. Your door is no consolation to stopping the noise. Ear plugs are available but who wants to use them? We had an issue with communication to the cleaning staff who woke us up TWICE before we were checked out. Front desk staff was very friendly. The saltwater pool is very comfortable and great for anyone who has issues with a chlorinated pool like my significant other does. The area around the pool is surrounded with tables and sits in a triangle with an indoor restaurant/bar on one side and rooms on the other two sides that are themed somewhat like a European village. It is a unique experience. The hot tub by the pool is a little awkward with the jagged brick that lines the top of it but otherwise pretty nice. Room for maybe 2-4 couples at best in that. It has a small fitness center that is about what you would expect with as much equipment they are able to stuff in there. The breakfast goes beyond continental as it says. I do believe that they switch up some of the options a little bit but it also includes hot eggs, sausage, and two types of hot waffles to make on your own. Plus, yogurts, juice, breads/pastries, cereal and things you would expect. The jacuzzi suite we stayed in was away from the pool side as we requested by the over-abundant amount of posts about how noisy the pool makes your room, which I would believe to be true. Other than the noise we experienced and the hard robes in the room, it was very nice. It had a couch, a couple of nice comfy sitting chairs, a desk and chair, a second chair next to the desk, jacuzzi wrapped in mirrors, and a fairly comfy bed topper on what seemed to be an average hotel cheaper bed...which slept okay. The bathroom had a roomy walk in shower with toilet in the same area and a door separating to the vanity just outside. The fireplace was nice and just turns on with a flip of a switch. For the price paid without the simple issues with being woke up, this room is a great value and nice little getaway on the Northeast side of the Twin Cities.

As you know noise is always a struggle in the hotel industry and we are always listening. We want everyone to have a good time but not at the expense of others. We do apologize if you were awaken by the housekeeping staff, unless there is a do not disturb sign on the door they will start the day working hard to get all the rooms cleaned and ready for the next guests. I have so many wonderful things to say about this place! We stayed a lot of different hotels during our honeymoon and road trip home. The price we paid for this room and what we got for that price made this by far the best deal! This was our wedding night room. My mother in law booked a fireplace/whirlpool suite for me and my husband. The room was HUGE! It was so nice. There was a couch, table, lovely fireplace, and my favorite part was the whirlpool. After a long crazy wedding it was so nice to just curl up next to the fire and soak our tired bones in the whirlpool. The hotel at first glance wasn't really anything to look at. I had actually dropped my mom off at her hotel and was floored by how modern and sleek it was. When we came here I was a little sad by how it appeared to be kind of older and maybe not as well kept. Never judge a book by its cover though. The hotel was actually quite nice, yes a bit older but still nice. The rooms were clean, well kept, and so nice. Now the hotel also went above and beyond for our guests. I say our guests because we setup a hotel block here for our wedding. They were so easy to setup a block with and our guests had no issues reserving rooms. We also had a VERY important wedding letter that had to be delivered to guests when they arrived. I dropped the letter off and the hotel assured me that every guest would get one. This letter was important because it contained shuttle times to and from the wedding. The hotel did that (the other hotel I blocked at did not). I also have to give a HUGE shout out to Matt. Matt worked the front desk pretty much the entire time my guests were there, and he dealt with our drunk selves on the wedding night. When my best lady checked in Matt made a comment about the wedding saying something about the bride and groom. My friend corrected him and you would have thought she shot him dead. He quickly tried to make up for his error. She had a good laugh and told him it was fine. I was touched by the fact that he even tried to make up for that small error that anyone could have made. Matt also did a great job of dealing with me when I called asking for a late check out. He jokingly negotiated with me on a later time so we could enjoy our room more. Every guest I spoke to had the nicest things to say about him. He definitely was a highlight of the hotel. Finally a big thank you to whoever (maybe it was Matt) put up the sign saying congratulations to me and my husband. My friends had asked about the sign out front which said congratulations to another couple. Because we weren't getting married in the hotel we figured our name wouldn't go up. When we pulled up that night we saw our names and a congratulations up. It really was so touching. This place made a perfect day somehow even more perfect!

We were here for a wedding reception and found the hotel to be great in providing for the needs of all the guests. Dinner was delicious (even able to deal with food allergies) and the service was excellent. We also had breakfast at Rudy's which was convenient and a great way to start the day.

This hotel is awesome. The hotel staff makes it even better. I visited this hotel for training. I got to know Bill Matthews who drove our bus to and from the Hotel. He is a great guy who made the trip worth it. The food at both Rudy's Grill, and Rudy's Rooftop were very good. Also have to give a shout out to Brittany who also took us to and from the hotel.
