Room was dirty, sticky floor. Beware of cockroaches. Do not recommend. Not worth what they charge. Booked for family who was in town for gymnastics meet. Upgrade and spend a little more for clean accommodations somewhere else.

Do not stay at this hotel. The rooms were filthy and smelled of mildew, walls and ceilings were nasty, showers were dirty (we stood on clean towels to use the showers), rooms smelled like mildew, breakfast was not the best even though it was simple and there were bugs spotted in the hotel.

Sophia Gutierrez, Owner at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Dear Guest, We are very sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused by the Bugs and Cleanliness issues. We are not meeting your expectations. Please note that your concerns have been passed on to the housekeeping team for improvement. We will hope you give us another chance to improve our services. "Awful accommodations"

1
User 17/12/2022

They say the place is being renovated but for now it is a disaster. The rooms we had were in disrepair. They smelled of mildew and worse. One bathroom had a toilet that was child-sized. Outlets were exposed. Bed frames made of something like aluminum and every time you move the bed makes noise. The walls were patched. One room had paper stuck in the door peephole and holes in the ceiling. Missing a nightstand. Hard to get very hot water in the sink. No soap dish or shelves in shower. No real blankets. The "sundry" items like bottled water or juice were depleted. We had a five day stay so perhaps our experience was worse and a one-night stay would be more tolerable. It was a convenient location for why we were in area, but would never stay there again.

Sophia Gutierrez, Owner at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback! However, we apologise for the inconvenience faced regarding the cleanliness issue with the few amenities in the room. We will surely forward your valuable feedback to our team for improvements. We hope to serve you better next time.

not up to the standards of other best westerns ive stayed at before, they didnt replace dirty towels or empty trash, poorly patched hole and missing handle in bathtub, workout room machines broken, will not use again

Broc Hogan, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Sorry about your experience. The work out machines are not broken, the Red key attached to the machine simply has to be turned. We only do stay overs upon request, thus the paper you signed when checking in that states not to smoke, wifi is attached to your card, please fill out a ticket for breakfast and let front desk know the night before if you want housekeeping in the AM. As far as the patch goes, we are literally updating the hotel as I type this and during your stay. We deeply apologize if this interupted or impacted your stay at all.

"Not great!"

2
Hollaleigh, Abilene, Texas 06/10/2022

Needed a hotel outside of New Orleans with a Tesla Destination Charger. This was the only one. Very old, needs updating. Common areas reeked of cigarette smoke. Our carpet was stained with paint (at least I hope it was paint) and I was afraid to touch most of the surfaces in the room. Only stayed one night, would never stay here again, Destination Charger or no. The guy at the front desk was super friendly and really helpful though, so he was the saving grace that bumped it from one to two stars.

Broc Hogan, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
We do apologize but that was not smoke smell, that was pipes being cut as we are remodeling rooms. We are very sorry that this soured your stay.

Booked a while ago, only to receive an email saying this hotel is no longer a Best Western and to talk direct with the hotel. I asked for communication details for the hotel and received no reply. I've emailed the hotel direct, no reply, I've followed up, no reply. I would book elsewhere

"Needs Attention"

2
michaelh747, Roseburg, Oregon 11/09/2022

Very friendly staff. Happy about that. The rooms, not so much. Smoke detector hanging by wires from wall. Box spring on bed, noisy and shot. Shower head arm was articulating type and sprayed water all over the place from all points regardless of tightening wing nuts. One spraying large amount of water on ceiling near light. Electrical safety and mold potential. Fortunately, staff found me another room later, but had same shower head issue. Breakfast. Well I guess you could call it that, but me? Not so much. Eggs were artificial. Had rubber consistency and no flavor. Bacon also seemed artificial and hard. Breakfast is not served buffet style. Probably due to space and cost. Instead you order ahead and the next morning you go to the window in the lobby, give your room number and they give you what you need. Felt a bit like an institution rather than a hotel. Like I said, the staff were great, but this place needs some good maintenance and some changes in the food provided. Doesn't deserve the Best Western brand. Sorry.

"A great value for the area"

Bartman40s, Racine, Wisconsin 08/08/2022

Had to attend a conference in New Orleans, and decided to stay a little bit out. (About 20 minutes) Room was nice, never felt afraid of my car being stolen, the breakfast was decent. Very convenient to both the causeway and downtown. Some good restaurants nearby. Very friendly staff. A huge plus is they do not allow locals to stay there. Two small downsides, which is why I gave it a four. Maid service is only every three days. There are only two staircases, one at each side of a very long hall.

Broc Hogan, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you so much for taking the time not only to stay with us but giving us this great review. Please come and see us again soon!

This was a last minute family trip (I'm originally from the area). I checked out many rooms in the area and this was by far the best room, location in the area. The rooms were very clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The pool was nice. It is truly a good place to stay.

Broc Hogan, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you so much, we work hard on this old place to keep it running as smoothly and cleanly as possible. Always feels good when people notice the effort. Please come and have another imprompto vacation with us soon!

"Check if the renovations are completed before you book"

3
User 16/02/2022

Avoid until renovations are finished, we had our confidence in Best Western totally shattered. The bedroom was tired, bathroom very small and needs a full update. They were renovating the lobby and dining area so very chaotic, we had to eat our breakfast in our bedroom at a prearranged time, nasty plastic plates, cutlery and no hot water for tea; add to this just one chair so I had to sit on the bed trying to eat with plastic everything (what about the poor planet)? The poor guy making breakfast had to work in a tiny area and i took at least 5 trips back and forth to our room with elements of the so called hot breakfast. To add to this a horrible night of no sleep due to paper thin walls, we could. hear people walking around upstairs, next door and along the hall, they might as well have been in our room. Add to that the noise from the construction team which started early. It really was appalling and they should not be open until it's ready for customers. And add to all this I wanted to wash my hair but the hairdryer didn't work. I am not sure why I have given it 3 stars other than the location suited us for our needs and we had free parking.

Broc Hogan, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
We do apologize for your stay ma'am. We have full signage up explaining everything and the reasons they are this way. We are doing the best we can recovering from the devestation wroght by both Hurricane Ida and damage done to the building by disgrunttled locals during said strom. We hope you will give us another chance once the renovations are finished. Thank you for your review of our facilities and staff, and have a great day

"Dissatisfied."

2
cbdk89, Chunchula, Alabama 17/01/2022

Dissatisfied. They were renovating at 6pm while people were trying to sleep and shaking the whole building. Breakfast was a nightmare and took forever to get. My room was not very clean and they only gave us 1 towel in the room.

Broc Hogan, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
While we do apologize for any issues you had during your stay, our breakfast is always topnotch, our staff in the breakfast area always get compliments, so it is rather shocking to me that breakfast made a complaint list, could you go into detail about the issue you encountered? The Renovations are listed for the hours of 9am to 6pm with signage around the building, I do apologize for it disturbing you, did you bring this up during your stay? Our staff would have been happy to assist you in anyway at all! As for the towel, again if you let us know we will fix it and I shall talk with my housekeeping staff to ensure we make sure there is a towel +1 for each bed in every room and I thank you for bringing this to my attention so it can be addressed. I have been here for the entire progress of the renovation so far and I have not experienced the hotel shaking. Can you elaborate on this as well? Thank you so much, and we hope you will give us another try in the future!

The staff were very friendly. And I love how they thought outside of the box and came up with a way to serve their guests a hot breakfast given the Covid restrictions. A hot breakfast was very much appreciated. I will be returning to this hotel again in the near future.

Nice hotel. Good location. A lot quieter than you would think.this time I was in a suite. Nice room. The bathroom was pretty small but the jacuzzi was very nice. There was 2 problems with the tub. No plug and the faucets were backwards.

5
marcelogonzalez00, The Woodlands, Texas 03/08/2021

The service is amazing. The location is great, just 16 min from the French Quarter. Everything is clean, and in good conditions. It's not a luxury hotel, if you are looking for luxury go to other hotel, but this is the best deal for a budget or moderate hotel. We read so reviews that the hotel was old, but it's not.

Risë Spinelli, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hello Marcelo and thank you for your review and rating us a PERFECT 5/5!! It means so much to us that you stsayed with us, and enjoyed the service that we pride ourselves on. We are constantly looking to improve everything, and are always updating our property. We hope to see you soon next time you come to New Orleans!

I had a chance to spend the night at my local Best Western Bayou Inn. It was clean, priced well, and a very friendly staff. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.Even though the reason may have been out of left field, ( my A/C went out and I needed something close with a good reputation, great pricing.I would do this again if needed.

This best western was an ordinary hotel. Nothing special but it is clean, and the staff all seemed to like their job. The staff made it a much better room than it was. The lady at the desk offered me a drink right away. The rooms were clean yay, and the lady who served the breakfast was awesome!

"Musleading Advertising"

2
90anthonyk, Arkansas 31/05/2021

The website says all new and remodled hotel. We reserved 3 rooms. None of the 3 were remodled and 2 of the rooms had roaches, ants and bugs. The toilet seat was broken in one of them. I reported the broken seat and bug problems... NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT EITHER COMPLAINT. As a matter of fact maintenance said they could NOT fix the toilet seat. My husband is handy and said the seat just needed to be replaced. When we checked out, the seat was still broken. When I reported the insects, I was told that is just New Orleans, you are gonna have bugs. I LOVE NEW ORLEANS .... and have visited over 30 times.... first time to have a roach IN THE BED! We arrived early and were allowed to check in. The front desk clerk was attempting to check in guest but was also training a new clerk. But no major issues with check in. The rooms are nice sized and well equipped. During COVID they are not cleaning the rooms and are short staffed. It was a struggle just to get towels. They are serving a limited hot breakfast and the lady serving the breakfast is a jewel in the eye of this sad, roach hotel. She is kind, friendly and seems to care about the comfort of the guest. There was a basketball team staying at the hotel, kids ran the halls, knocked on doors and ran, jumped up and down in the rooms making a ton of noise. They were allowed to run loose! No parent or management intervention. Some of the guest set up a grill in the parking lot. WTH!! It was an overall horrible stay. I ALWAYS stay Best Western but NEVER again at this location.

Hotel was better than the area would suggest. Clean rooms, clean lobby, clean parking lot, friendly staff, great hot breakfast system for a real FREE hot breakfast even with covid restrictions. I added a second night after seeing the quality of this hotel.

"Always a favorite for me."

I've stayed here on and off over the past 15 years. Always a great place. Staff is nice, cocktails in the afternoons, they take my CLC card, and parking is good. One of the great things about this place is that it is safe and quiet. Sort of away from the action, you don't have to worry about your vehicles or family. Gas station and dollar store within walking distance. Excellent place for the working man, but when I bring my wife, I stay here too. Cant' go wrong with this place.

"Stink, stale inside air."

3
Polish-emerituses, Toronto, Ontario 21/11/2019

Hi. Nov.19 We visited B.W. Westwego LA. ALL WAS GOOD except one thing. You can not air Your room with fresh outside air. AC units do not have such option. Instead, management is using chem. mode to refresh inside air. Even ozone machine was used to "kill " odor. To no avail, because odor was still there. O3 is good for killing bacteria. Those air refreshments "smells" were so choking and biting eyes, that me and my wife asked to change room. Well, the other room was slightly better because different deodorant smell was used on room's carpet. The corridor of hotel, was not helpful to exchange air in the room. I tried it by opening room door for 15 min. and switching AC for cold air (heavier) to replace warmer air from the room. To no avail. Corridor/hall has the same stale air. Every 20 feet or so You can see battery operated air fresheners installed at the ceiling. Every several min. those air freshers ware pumping chemical mist in to stale air of the hotel to kill odory/stale/mushy air. First night after I complained about "chemical" air, We got a visitor in our washroom. When I used a washroom, I saw big, 2" , cockroach in corner of white tiled washroom. Of course, I discarded it accordingly and after that every night We pressed a towel in to the 1" gap between the room door and floor. That cockroach was just one time event. Other than that, hospitality, reception, Wi-Fi, breakfast, security, cleanness, tourist information, politeness--TIP TOP. Regards. Mike

It was a GREAT deal for the price. Loved the location, free breakfast and the hotel staff were extremely friendly! The incidental hold however, is extremely high which is why I am giving it two stars (otherwise it would have gotten 4). I called one week and was told it was 150, then called again the following week and it was $100 more. Even nicer hotels I have stayed at only have a $50-$75 incidental hold on your card. If it is going to be this high, they need to accept cash. Other than that, the stay was great!

We came to the Queen concert at the Smoothing King center and this hotel was very nice and out of the way of busy downtown. It was about a 25 minute drive from downtown. The front of the hotel was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. It did seem to be hot in the room even though the air was set on 65. But everything else was great! The breakfast was superb as always. Waffle station, coffee machine with lattes, ect, and the cheese grits were AMAZING.

The breakfast was great, much better than other places we've stayed with free hot breakfast, and each day there was free, homemade juice with fresh fruit. I thought it was kinda bizarre that the pool is kinda in the middle of the parking lot, but it looked clean and people were always in it (we never had time to get in) so I'm going to assume that we missed out on a relaxing experience. The staff were really friendly, the room was very clean, the bed was comfy, and the water pressure in the shower was phenomenal. And it's not too far from downtown New Orleans, so that was a plus, and it's literally next door to a gas station for late night snacks. I would stay here again...next time we can experience the pool and fitness center.

we booked two rooms my room had dirty towels, when i asked for new ones he didn't even apologize or say anything at that. my friends grandma come to our room and showed us one of their sheet had dried blood on it. the guy apologized to them and moved them into the room right next to it. we were so tired after the ten hour road trip we all just went to bed. when we woke up her grandma showed us their was another blood stain that was worse then the other sheet and looked like period blood and someone poop themselves after wards, again no type of remorse / discount or anything for them not changing and cleaning their rooms like they should be. if i could give zero stars i would; health department would definitely be very disappointed.

The service here was one of the best I've experienced. The staff is very friendly and were able to answer all questions. The rooms are nice and clean and they have mircowaves and refridgeorators and the ice machine alone with a washer and dryer were right down the hall. The pool area looked well maintainced and ready for fun

Best Western Bayou Inn is our go to place to stay when we cruise out of NOLA. The staff is always friendly. The rooms are very clean and reasonably priced. Angel at the front desk is absolutely amazing. She is always friendly and goes above and beyond to help us! Love this place!

There is no elevator at this hotel but there are 2 floors. The beds are comfortable but too low. The day shift staff was really pleasant and helpful. It was family a trip and overall we enjoyed our stay.

The Best Western in Westwego is a nice place to stay and not far from the city of New Orleans. There is a pool and fitness center. The rooms are clean and the staff is very nice. Breakfast us served every morning and its pretty good so enjoy!

The main reason I would return to your hotel would be the incredible staff that you have! I can't say enough about Angel!!! She has the perfect name, because she truly is an angel! She was courteous, attentive, and very professional, and she provided the utmost in customer service!!! From the moment we entered until the time we left, she was superb! Your other staff we encountered, Brock and Shantell, were just as awesome! Your staff is very friendly and helpful! Keep up the good work in your hiring and training practices -- FANtastic!!!! One additional note: the online comments about your hotel also consistently had rave reviews about your staff!!! I wholeheartedly agree!!!

We checked into our rooms only to be overpowered by some kind of chemical smell. We literally spent about 3 to 6 minutes in our assigned room and began to develop a headache. After speaking with someone at the front desk, we were assigned to another room. Apparently someone used the toilet and forgot to clean up afterwards, it was quite disgusting. The last final room, had a slow draining sink and a hurricane sounding bathroom vent. After 2 room changes, we resounded to staying in the room. After all, we only stayed for one night. Be forewarned, the area is a desert town with nothing to do. You must have a vehicle to get around. We spent a lot of money for one, which was totally not WORTH IT!

Customer service is outstanding, the rooms were perfect, but nothing beats the customer service. I really like the people at the front desk. The only thing I would complain about is that they should always have bacon on the breakfast menu....LOL

From the moment we walked in, it was like a breath of fresh air. We were on motorcycles and had been stuck in traffic over an hour nearby. The young lady at the front desk was very accommodating and allowed us to park our bikes by the front door in view of the desk. She also helped us find local restaurants with the New Orleans flair and flavor. The breakfast was probably the best complimentary hot breakfast I have ever eaten, with grits and ham as selections.

From the pictures you'd think this was a nice place, but in reality it's basic motel style (no elevators, dim rooms, fairly noisy), and their service is quite uneven. When my room was actually made up (3 days out of 4), the floors weren't vacuumed, the towels weren't changed, the shampoo wasn't replenished. But at least the manager apologized. I was also disappointed that there's really nowhere to walk--it's next to a busy highway and there are no sidewalks. On the plus side, the breakfast is nice, and the beds are fairly comfortable.

The room carpet was so dirty, the dirt stuck to our feet and socks. The lobby and hallway smelled weird. The price was good, but not very good location. It is far from the city center and there's not much dining option around. Breakfast selection was just ok.

So we got back to our hotel tonight after spending the entire day in New Orleans to find out our room keys were not working, and that we had no clean towels, nor were our beds made. No housekeeping whatsoever. After requesting towels clean towels, we also found that our TV was not working after mentioning it this morning... it was still not working.

Our high school choir of 53 young adults “invaded” the hotel after many hours on a bus from Michigan. Angel provided a cheery greeting from the service counter as we arrived. I'm sure our rush to feed a bunch of teenagers the next morning was more traffic than usual, but the hotel staff kept the food bar stocked. Fed teenagers are happy teenagers. Upon return home I discovered I had left my belt in the room. After calling to see if it had been found, I was delighted to once again be talking to Angel. She quickly confirmed that the belt had been found, and we arranged to have it shipped to me in Michigan. I offered to pay postage, but was surprised when it showed up in the mail two days later. Over and above service, worthy of recognition. So this review is my way of saying “thank-you”. The Best Western hotel in Westwego, LA has my firm recommendation.

The top floor of this hotel, which is where my room was located was satisfactory but the bottom was awful. The air in my room didn't work so I had to request another room. I had a wonderful experience with my stay at this hotel. The staff kindly greeted us upon arrival and provided a seamless check-in experience after a long flight. The person at the front desk offered us nearby recommendations on amazing food and provided suggestions on several events that are happening that weekend. I really enjoyed the complimentary infused water in the lobby that had an exquisite new flavor every day as well as the happy hour that occurred from 5-7. The rooms were clean, and the beds were soft. Exactly what I needed after my flight and before retiring after a long night on Bourbon Street. The hotel was priced very reasonably for a group our size.

Need a car or use cabs as hotel is about 15 mins drive from downtown. Plenty of parking at the hotel. Large breakfast area, and lots of choice. Staff keep it well stocked. Also great ‘hydration station' with lovely fruit infused water available free at front desk area. Front area is bright, with gorgeous painting which look like they're by local artists (some had price tickets so ? may be for sale too) Rooms are cleaned daily, and are comfortable if basic. Staff at front desk, and the lady on security were all lovely - always smiling and greeted us when we came in/went out. You will absolutely need car or be happy using cabs every day as nothing you could really walk to nearby, so if that's important then you need to stay downtown instead.

This hotel was the perfect location for us as we attended the Country Smooth festival. The hotel was clean and the staff was extremely accommodating. Loved the New Orleans themed decor! Ola kept the breakfast area clean and fully ticked with yumminess. There was a huge variety of options for free breakfast, the largest variety I've seen from any of the chain hotels. Overall a great stay, we did have a toilet issue (constantly running) but we were so tired it didn't bother us too much

"Poorly Managed by The present General Manager"

2
kkguiles2016, Baytown, Texas 08/10/2018

I only give this one a 2 because of Thaddeus, Danecka, and Ashley. They were awesome. We were given a room that was already occupied! The next room's Air Conditioner did not work. We were finally transferred to a decent room. The breakfast was awful. The fried eggs looked like styrofoam! They did not have packets of Instant Grits and when asked we were told they didn't serve them on Sunday. Oh, and the room card key code is not changed after each check out. I called the GM on his cell phone and never received a return call.

"Horrible customer service."

User 23/09/2018

The young man Thaddius working the front desk had no customer service at all. He was very unfriendly and not welcoming. BESIDES THAT HE GAVE US KEYS TO OUR ROOM WHO HAD ALREADY BEEN ASSIGNED TO ANOTHER FAMILY. We contacted customer service and he hung up on them several times while on hold with them. We had three coupons that were issued through the customer services and he simply told us he did not know how and could not honor them we would have to call his manager on monday. As we were leaving we overheard that he had to move the other family three times. We were there for a nice gettaway and it put a sour start to our vacation.

BWBayouInn, General Manager at Best Western Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Good morning I want to start off by saying, I do apologize for the inconvenience upon your check in. We thrive for excellence at our property and I speak with the young man personally about ths incident. Hotel has a horrible cancellation policy. They force you to pay for a room you don't use, then rent it to someone else. It's better to not make a reservation at all than to be held hostage by their idiotic cancellation policy. Beware of the Best Western hotel chain.

Being pregnant, and craving breakfast foods, I have found myself booking hotels that offer a variety of breakfast choices. Today I met Ola at the Bayou BW. She had the most beautiful breakfast spread prepared and thought of EVERYTHING to accompany my eggs (hot sauce, cheese, salsa). She told me some safe places to travel alone and was overall just so welcoming. My room was huge, clean and fully accommodating and the pool was very clean. I will forever book this hotel when I visit NOLA!

CA-OKLA, Oklahoma 13/05/2018

I stayed here a few months ago, and while it needed a re-model, it was clean. This time, however, I had to change rooms twice upon check in. Once because it hadn't been vacuumed and the floor was gross. Then again because the bathroom floor had long hairs (as in several) and even had used dental floss on the floor near the trashcan...yuck!!!!! Third room had a large crack in the tub that was black with mold. Gross. Tub needed to be replaced.

User 14/04/2018

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during a cross-county relocation for work. We decided to do two nights in NOLA due to the amount of things to do. This hotel offered a great value location without breaking the bank to get into town. While we did experience some minor lapses in service, I attribute them to the change of management in the midst of a surge in traffic due to Wrestle Mania. Nevertheless, I do knock them a star because of it. Overall, I love this brand and thoroughly enjoyed my time in NOLA.

We stayed at the Best Western Bayou Westwego for one night on a family vacation. We were initially a bit sceptical about the negative reviews previously left on this site, but it seems that, for us, the negative reviews were unfounded. Check in was simple and quick, though when we arrived at around 9pm we had to ring the bell at the front desk a couple of times before someone came out to attend to us. The only negative for us is that the motel doesn't have an elevator, so we did have to haul all our luggage up to the first floor. However, once in our room we were very happy. The room appeared and smelled clean, there were plenty of towels in the bathroom, we didn't experience any noise from any surrounding rooms and the beds and bedding were extremely comfortable. Wifi worked perfectly with no problems. Complimentary breakfast was great, offering a good choice of hot and cold items. For dinner, there is a broad selection of fast food restaurants all within a five minute drive from the motel. Overall, a great stay and we all left the motel feeling rested and happy.

Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast served from 6am- 9am but two out of the 3 mornings we were there it was after 6:30 before breakfast was put out and the last morning we went down at 8:30 am and there was very little food out. There was no coffee and enough batter for one waffle. All of the other Best Westerns I have stayed out had plenty of food out up til 9am. Other than this the over all stay was great. This place is 6 miles outside of New Orleans and a great price. Will definitely stay here again if ever in New Orleans.

"Beware of your reservation"

1
wngrandma, Oak Lawn, Illinois 27/03/2018

I had a reservation at this hotel that I made in January for a date in March. With some confusion my reservation got cancelled. I was able to get it back and had a invoice that I paid for the room. Upon arriving at this hotel I was told I did not have a room because my credit card was declined. I was not called or ask for a new card, There was no reason for the decline card because they had taken my money twice off the card. Unfortunately I was stranded in New Orleans without a room with my daughter and two grandchildren. The desk clerk was very helpful in trying to find me another room but there was none available for a reasonable price. I was not the only person that this happen to on that day. while I was there 2 other people who thought they had reservations also were told the same thing. They had a list of at least 10 people they where not going to give a room too. The desk clerk said this happens at a regular basis. The washroom did not have soap in it to wash your hands and they had limited house keeping because the workers did not show up. Unless they get new management I would not stay at this Best Western. I had to drive a hour to get a room to sleep in that night.

"Lack of amanagement and process"

GhumnaPhirna, Austin 25/03/2018

We had 2 rooms and both were filthy.. never cleaned.. no towels or toiletries.. Only beds were made. There was only one person working very hard in the entire hotel. She almost broke down to tears with no other help at the front desk or the rooms. Our AC was not working and we waited 3 hours to get assigned another filthy uncleaned room.. . I couldn't believe it. There was another person who came close to midnight and started to clean the room. Breakfast was below their own brand level. There were many other issues and would take another page to jot down. Management totally blew this off and never came to apologize even though we were booked for 2 nights. Because this was prepaid there was nothing to make this better for us. No checks and balances at this hotel.. possibly short on staff. My family gave me a earful for the entire trip for keeping us here so I am really frustrated at this hotel. Hope this review makes their management accountable.

"Rooms are filthy "

1
B E, Boerne, Texas 22/03/2018

We booked this hotel based on the positive reviews and we must be staying at a completely different hotel!!! The room we initially checked into was filthy(floors dirty and bathtub filthy), second room ( floors filthy, bed springs out), third room: (floors filthy, covers on one bed still dirty). The only thing that saved this hotel was the free breakfast which was actually good with variety. I do not recommend anyone stay here if you have standards of a room being clean and not scared to disrobe and sleep comfortably. The floors don't meet the renovations that have been done to the bathroom and headboard.

1
CheldeeSmith, Natchez, Mississippi 14/03/2018

When I read the other reviews, I wonder if we are talking about the same place? I arrival at 6pm i walked in the dump to a clerk who didn't part her mouth to say a word. Then I find out there is no elevator and I had to carry my bags up. When I did make it to the 2nd floor housekeeping was in the hall of the room I was checked in to. The housekeeper said "oh this your room" I said yeah it is she got the sheets off out door way and left. She didn't finish cleaning the room she left trash , didn't clean the floor, didn't clean over the ac unit , dirty minor , stained sheets on both bed and Im sure nothing else was clean. I came in contact with three front desk clerk and neither friendly or welcoming , no uniforms on nor name badge. This is by far the worst experience that I have had . And there reviews are misleading in on many ways. Not up to part for a true BEST Western Branded Hotel!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay! I stayed at this hotel in 2016 March as well for the annual Buku Fest event that goes on at Port of New Orleans. This time it was just to surprise my boyfriend to a trip to new orleans! This hotel was going under renovations in 2016. And LET ME TELL YOU! This hotel put me in a greay shock. All the rennovations made this place look so beautiful and clean.Check in is at 3. But if you are arriving late it's fine with the FRONT desk! Just give them a friendly call and let them know. I arrived at 10pm. (2 queen bed room) clean room. Clean sink. Clean shower and toilet! Comfortable beds. Conveniently centered around; grocery stores, malls, restaurants, and 22 mins out for New Orleans! I love this hotel you get complimentary beers 2 a guest. Complimentary breakfast which is yummy! We at at 830am and we've been traveling since and we are still not hungry! Great food and very filling! Huge breakfast! I felt safe and secure with the helpful and nice security guy walking around the place after 10pm. The front desk attendants are very nice and helpful also!! Gave us recommendations for cab services that were cheap!! Cab arrived in 15 mins. Clean hotel grounds. I can speak on every thing but the salt water pool! We didn't have time to use the pool! however, it did look Clean! Will plan to come back to this location in the next year. It sure beats the hell out of paying for something expensive near New Orleans! I recommend this hotel! 2 thumbs up from my boyfriend and i!!! Thanks bayou inn for the pleasure and memories! Also the front desk lady working today (March 7th! 9am 2018) was SUPER FRIENDLY! Thanks for every thing!

"Comfortable Stay on our Trip"

4
jgemza, Whitesboro, New York 06/02/2018

Stayed for 3 nights and had comfortable accommodations with standard breakfast selections although the grits were a treat for me. The beds were fine and the bathroom clean although the rugs in the room could need a shampooing. A nice gesture was the happy hour from 5-7 pm from Monday to Thursday. Had a little issue with the air conditioner and the maintenance staff was readily available to make the adjustment. The outdoor pool was available but the cool weather made it to uncomfortable to partake in a swim.

"Nice and friendly "

Norjean, New Hartford, New York 06/02/2018

Spent 3 nights. No problems. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice happy hour M-Th with good quality bottled beers and snacks. Recommend they add wine for us non beer drinkers. Breakfast could use an upgrade with more fresh options. Room comfortable but dark. All Best Westerns seem to lack overhead lighting. All in all, good stay.

"Airborne something in here put me in ER"

1
redwinguno, Lowell, Michigan 31/01/2018

Nice people, good quiet location. Free beer mon thru thurs, but something in the air, mold, dust or whatever caused me to go to the ER in the middle of the night. I started having trouble breathing walking in. Turning on the air control system saturated the air and i could feel it then. The other couple had a similiar experience. My travel partner had to go buy OTC meds to help him unstuff. The front desk people refunded me for the next day, but too little too late.

"Best hotel stay in a long time"

5
Z3271XEdaniela, Kansas, United States 12/01/2018

The manager My is amazing. She is very sweet and helpful. I also was welcomed by Anna on my next day with free beer and snacks and then a gentleman later that night helped me with an issue I had with my lamp. He was very nice, but I cannot remember his name . It might have been Eli. The staff here is very very friendly. I dont mind the drive just because I like the people here. Good service, good breakfast, and clean room. Would definitely stay here again.

"Affordable stay not far from the French Quarter"

3
nyazeri, Brooklyn, New York 03/01/2018

It was very reasonably priced for the New Year's eve. The room was big, but the carpet was quite dirty. The breakfast is not bad, the seating area is nice. The staff of the hotel was very detached and didn't really care about the guests. I complained that the heater wasn't working and it got pretty cold but nothing was ever done about it, nor did anyone follow up on it with me. Housekeeping is quite superficial. The happy hour is a joke.

"Improve cleaning and breakfast refill"

4
Michel L, Rio de Janeiro, RJ 02/01/2018

Room's carpet is disgusting and breakfast must be watched for refills all the time. The rest is good. The most important thing is that when you wake up is breakfast so you expect to have something to eat and not empty spaces. My socks were black in just five minutes walking in the room!

"Worst Stay in a long time :(!"

Chrissie777, Worcester, MA 27/11/2017

When I read the other reviews, I wonder if we are talking about the same place? We've been to several European Best Western Hotels (can recommend the one in Rue Berthelot in Tours, France) and had always good experiences. This Best Western however is just plein awful. Even though it was not booked out, we received a room next to the gas station. At night people who filled up gas threw bottles in the garbage containers which woke me up repeatedly (???). Why didn't we get a room on the opposite side away from the noisy gas station? We were in room 207 which we cannot recommend at all. Moreover, we had repeated trouble on 4 out of the 6 nights that we've stayed with the shower and with the warm water in the sink. We were forced to take cold showers and brush our teeth with cold water. Even after 5 minutes of letting the water run, the water didn't get warm. Then it worked for one day, but on the next day only cold water again! We complained about it, but to no avail. My husband assumed that Best Western turns off their hot water heater around 6 p.m. and in the morning doesn't turn it back on before 6 a.m. in order to save money (at 5 a.m. I couldn't wash my hair). Also I cannot recommend this hotel to elderly people and to families with little kids as you have to use a staircase to reach the rooms (with all your luggage!). There's no elevator. We had 2 queen size beds which had brackets at the bottom where we both injured our feet. I recommend to remove these brackets as they aren't good for anything other than bothering your hotel guests' feet. So don't leave the bed towards the window, leave it on the opposite side towards the door in order to not get hurt by the brackets. Another thing that bothered me was the very dim light, I couldn't read my book. Please put a 75 Watt bulb in the reading lamps, so people are able to read (not everybody uses a Kindle!). My husband complained that the Internet connection was VERY slow. The only good thing about this hoptel in Westwego is their breakfast. Never ever again... Apart from our hotel experience we had a very nice stay in New Orleans.

hotel has inconvenient access to rooms; one must enter through the sides but can't go to the second floor via the center of the lobby and there is no elevator. Placed in a ground floor room with no heat and then relocated to the second floor. wifi throughout the hotel was non-existent, couldn't print my boarding pass. none of the staff knew what was happening or how to correct it. A poorly managed property. This hotel should have disappeared during Katrina or Rita.

"ANOTHER GOOD WESTERN"

fred d, spring, tx 25/11/2017

this best western is a continuation of very good stays we have had at best westerns across the country. the rooms were clean and well maintained. the free breakfast in the morning saved lots of money from eating out. one surprise i did not expect was a happy hour between the hours of 4pm til 7p.m when adult guests can get two free beers. chips and hot dogs are available to all. after a seven hour drive, the free food and drinks were a big help. this hotel is located about 20 minutes from the downtown area but easily accessible by highway. a gas station is located right next door for easy tank up when its time to go home.

I was granted an early check in and made it in time for breakfast. I asked the nice lady for some coffee for my room that I saw working in the breakfast area. She was really nice and brought it to me and I later found out that was the general manager ! Talk about humble. I stayed there for 3 nights and had the best stay. Each time I needed something from front office , I met someone new and everyone was so helpful. (Me) I think that was her name , was so sweet. We will come back soon ! I've been telling all of my friends to stay here. Even though it is a bit away from New Orleans, the hospitality is worth it.

We stayed here 2 weeks ago and I have to mention Mi and Allison. They went out of their way to help me and these girls were so sweet. Breakfast was really good. I enjoyed the burritos and waffles and I almost forgot to mention they have free beer ! Don't really see that in other hotels. If we are ever in the area again , we will definitely be staying here !

"Great hotel - more than your money's worth"

5
terrilynf2017, Huntington Beach, United States 13/11/2017

Spacious and clean room, staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great - especially the waffles. It's a little far outside of downtown NOLA - but that's okay - it was well worth it. Quiet area. Small downside was no elevator to the 2nd floor, but the nice man behind the desk carried my bags upstairs for me, so it really was a non-issue. I would highly recommend this hotel.

"One night stay"

3
User 12/11/2017

The room was spacious and very clean. The lobby small and old. The hotel it is far from Downtown or French Quarter. But the weekend of November 10th to 12th was very crowed at the city because there was a Convention and everywhere else it was very expensive. And this hotel was a fair option for one night stay. But what I didn't pay for hotel, I paid in rides.

erinr646, wichita, United States 02/11/2017

For the price, it was a good stay. Best Western is usually my Go-To. This location was a tad worse than I was expecting, but it was fine. It was farther away from New Orleans than I thought. There were little quirks in the room, such as having to move things around to find a working outlet.

Stayed one night here due to the campsite across the road falling through. The room was large and clean. The bathroom was also clean. The staff here were also great. There is a waffle house about 300m away that does decent food food for very decent prices.

"Getting the front side room"

4
sthilaire2013, Elyria, Ohio 26/10/2017

Everything was good with our stay except we were on the back side of the hotel. There is a gas station on that side that gets quite noisy at times. So if you plan on staying there request a front side room. Other wise it is a very nice place to stay.

"Great staff"

3
Boesdady_20, El Paso, Texas 24/10/2017

The facilities where a little lacking ( “exercise room” was a small room with a broken weight bench, treadmill, elliptical, and cable machine with no attachments or weight selection). The staff however was amazing; Nikesha (I apologize if I misspelled) was amazing. We met her at breakfast, and didn't once hesitate to point us in the direction of things to do and see in NOLA. She was very warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.

"Clean, modern, and great staff"

5
User 20/10/2017

This is a wonderful hotel, especially for the price. The staff is more than accommodating. I had a travel card voucher that the staff was having trouble crediting it to my account. She spent a solid half hour with customer support and solved the issue. I felt that went above and beyond. Issues happen—it's how people deal with them that matters. The hotel is clean and modern. Lots of outlets for charging devices. Included bottles of beer at 5:00 during the week. The room had 2 sinks which was handy. We will definitely stay here again!

We were cruising our of Port Orleans and stayed here the night before. The desk clerk was amazing! They are remodeling and have no elevator at the moment so when she found out my mom had double knee replacement in January she moved all of our rooms down to the first floor so we could be together. Rooms were very clean and breakfast was free and very good. This isn't a five star hotel but it is a great, clean place to stay.

"Great for Tesla Owners"

4
Robbin M, Houston, Texas 01/10/2017

This hotel is 15 minutes from the French Quarter but it offers two Tesla Destination chargers for it's guests. As a Tesla owner, this is important to me. And it's much cheaper than any other hotel in town with a destination charger. Otherwise it's a pretty normal road side hotel. The room was clean and the wifi worked but was slow. Breakfast offered the usual eggs, bacon, and waffle maker. The staff seemed to have no idea that they had Tesla chargers. Management should provide a little education -- if the chargers weren't working due to a circuit breaker or such, I doubt they could have helped.

Quiet neighborhood next to a gas station that serves surprisingly good chicken. The wifi was pretty fast for a hotel. But i would recommend asking for a room closer to the lobby for a better connection. The lady doing the breakfast was the best. I forget her name but she is great, she had short hair. The clerk at check in was very friendly as well, Misty. The night clerk always had fresh coffee on late which is rare, Elian was his name. I will be staying here again if work calls for it.

This hotel/motel is right on the main strip about 20mins from downtown New Orleans. The desk clerk, Hope, was very friendly & had great suggestions when asked. The rooms are spacious with a microwave & college fridge. The "fitness room" is a joke but there's an outdoor pool & "Happy Hour" Mon-Thurs 5-7p...this made the stay even better! I'd definitely recommend this BWB & would stay here again!!!

"Great Place to stay for visiting New Orleans!"

5
Ann W, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Usa 19/06/2017

We chose this hotel for our trip to New Orleans. It was an easy 12 miles to the Basin Street Visitor Center but much more affordable than the hotels downtown. We were here for 3 nights. The rooms were very clean and inviting. The staff was friendly. The lobby was quaint but the breakfast area adjacent to the lobby was fairly large. There were plenty of tables and counter space to sit for breakfast. The kids even used the tables to play games in the evenings. We got them pizza one night for supper and they sat there and ate it. We were here for 3 mornings and it was the usual Best Western fare. However, the hot items were different every day. One morning they had omelets, they had bacon and sausage and some days they had both. One morning they had tater tots. The woman who ran the breakfast area was very nice and kept on top of everything. There was a nice salt water pool and the Wi-Fi worked nicely. On our last morning I needed to print out air boat tickets that had been emailed to me. I was looking to see if I could print right from my phone. The girl behind the front counter (her name was My) noticed what I was doing and offered to have me email the information to her and she printed it for me. She really went out of her way I was really appreciated it. I would definitely stay here again.

We didn't want to stay in New Orleans proper because of the more expensive hotels AND the $30 - $40 a day parking charges so we chose Westwego La and are quite pleased that we did. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast was more than suitable...and the staff was willing to address any question that we had. The location is good because it is a quick 15 - 20 trip into the heart of New Orleans. We will use this property again on our next trip to New Orleans. ,

If you own electric car and look for a fast charger, this may be the best hotel in New Orleans. Best Western Bayou Inn also offers breakfast and free parking with good price. Dan K, Saint Louis, Missouri 23/03/2017

It was fine, nothing to write home about. Checkin was friendly and quick, and the room was the level you expect from a Best Western. Our smoke detector went off in the middle of the night, so we ended up setting it on the front desk at 4am. There was no one there at the time, and when we brought it up the next morning, the woman at the desk didn't seem to care at all. The irritating thing is that it had clearly happened before, because there were two on the wall, and the other had the battery compartment open as well, so someone else had recently had the same problem and tried to solve it that way. Breakfast was unimpressive, but at least it was something. Bottom line, if you're looking for a cheap place in that area (as we were), then it's passable. I would not seek it out.

Very helpful staff, who went out of their way to help with local transportation. Only issues were hairs found on a both towel, and unsightly crack in the shower pan. Minor design issue is the sink is located outside the bathroom. Would prefer it to be inside bathroom for privacy and noise issues.

Bruce P, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments. We are researching this particular shower pan. We are passing through each rooms seeking areas such as this so we are able to replace or repair. Thank you very much for helping us to be better at that which we do Bruce

We stayed here in October. The staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms were clean. Nice comfortable beds. Very good breakfast and they have a happy hour with free beer! I enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is out in the middle of nowhere. At least that is how it felt after spending so much time in the French Quarter. I thought for sure we would not end up at our hotel after the doorman at another hotel along with our cab driver gave us concerning looks about heading to Westwego. Once we got the hotel, it was clean, quiet but not up to my standard of Best Western. The bathtub in our room (204) wasn't super clean, it was cracked and not fixed properly. They advertise a vending machine and ice machine on our floor, but I could only find the ice machine. I was too tired to even bother looking on any other floor or calling the front desk because the guy behind the desk looked at me like I was on glue when I mentioned to him about arranging for a taxi to the airport in the morning. The girl the next morning was much more helpful. Our cab driver however was something straight out of the woods. Was concerned that we wouldn't make it to the airport. But we did. The breakfast was your typical BW continental breakfast. Nothing special. I don't think I would stay here again. There is no elevator to floor two. Had to lug our luggage up the stairs. Very thankful to the kind gentleman from Houston who lifted mine up the stairs.

Bruce P, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you fro your thoughts. Westwego is a quiet area. Some folks enjoy it --others are looking for more activity. However when next you are in NOLA--please let us know--we have great sister properties that we can suggest that may be more to your tastes. I must thank you however for bringing to my attention the bathtub in your room. We have had it repaired properly Thank you again and Safe Travels Bruce

Hotel out of the way for downtown and airport but so clean and comfy and friendly that it is worth the drive. Not many food choices nearby but enough, including seafood, to choose this well run property.

User 25/10/2016

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for two nights while we were on a random road trip to sight see in New Orleans. The hotel was really clean and the breakfast was awesome. We had very little interaction with the staff but they were always pleasant when we spoke with them. We were really happy with our stay and the price of the hotel was definitely a plus! Gladly stay here again.

This is a nice, clean, well kept hotel, our room had a large hottub bathtub in the room which was great after a long day on the motorcycle. The front desk staff are very helpful. Breakfast is great. The only thing that would make it better is if there were restaurants closer.

We travelled 9 hours and were ready to just get to the hotel and relax. They were very helpful, the room we reserved was not cleaned yet (not their fault, we were early). My husband forgot to ask for a ground floor room, I use a cane to walk). They did not hesitate to offered us a different room which was easier access for me. It was very clean, they were very helpful, the breakfast was great. My husband travels often with his job and will be coming here once a month....we will definitely book rooms here!

The room was clean and quaint. The decor was very festive and thematic with New Orleans Mardi Gras. The location was a little farther out from the French Quarter and tourist areas, but it was worth the 15-minute drive. The breakfast was surprisingly delicious, especially the grits!

This was an excellent place to stay, specially if you are already renting a car. SUPER easy to get in and out of the city. AJ was an AMAZING employee who helped with places to eat and a small problem we had with the room (I was staying with my boyfriend, and we didn't need two beds! AJ was very accomadating and understanding!). The maids did a fantastic job cleaning our room, and even folded my own personal blnakets. Literally, if I had to say something was bad, I would just slightly warn the showers are a tad small... but honestly, I didn't even care! Great place to stay!

Disappointed. Made the reservation in the morning. Showed up after a long day of travel to discover there was no room reserved for us. Car full of sad kids and unhappy parents driving around late at night only to be charged full price at a hotel with fewer amenities. Won't use again!!!

Danielle M, Tulsa, United States 20/09/2016

Hotel is a $40 cab ride from the airport; the shuttle does NOT go to this hotel. There are zero restaurants near this hotel, which means I spent a bundle on Uber and cabs. The smell was not foul, but it wasn't 'pleasant' like most hotels. Had to kill a HUGE roach which is NOT cool. I've stayed at better Motel 6's.

Bruce P, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
We apologize for your inconveniences. Our hotel is in a quiet location, we try to give our guests a sanctuary away from the city traffic. Nicest, cleanest, hotel beyond far. Great customer service. Remodeled rooms, great filling breakfast, ease to and from new Orleans or airport. Few miles outside of town made it nice and quiet for when you wanted to escape and rest. Not sure if taxi prices for we rented a car. Highly highly recommend. This Best Western is wonderful. All of the employees were friendly. I was very impressed with the handwritten welcome note and tasty snack that were there to greet us. My friend that I was traveling with was incredibly excited about the complimentary cold beer that we were given at check in. In fact, I heard about that each of the next three hotels we checked in at on our trip! Many thanks, I'll definitely stay at your hotel again. The breakfast was awesome, compete with bacon and sausage. We did not indulge in the outdoor pool but we saw others enjoying it.

Leslie D, Muskogee, Oklahoma 25/07/2016

We had a handicap room, so can't vouch for the regular rooms. Though I'm not sure why, we're a young able bodied family, but we're not ones to make a fuss. Beds were clean and okay comfort level. Floors were sticky, but I never expect best westerns to be impecable. Bathroom was very large and clean, minimal counter space but again, handicap. Large bathroom meant small room, but it's okay with us as we spent most of our time out and about. Breakfast was what you expect from these types of hotels (like BW, comfort suites, etc) clean, fresh, and they don't water down their waffles. We were on the side by the gas station but didn't hear any excessive noise. If you don't mind stairs, get a 2nd floor room, because you can hear every step of your upstairs neighbor - that or there was a clogging team in town ;) overall great stay. 10-20 min from major attractions but a quiet town with a state park. We enjoyed our stay as a young family. Every staff encountered was polite, helpful, and professional. We didn't stay on their promo nights :( but there was always a batch of fruit infused water to greet you in the lobby when escaping the humid heat. The pool was up kept as well. And they had fridge, microwave, and security.

Bruce P, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you Leslie for your comments. We continuously strive to improve all of our services within the hotel. Glad to see you enjoyed your stay.

RemyCosmo, Houston, Texas 30/06/2016

I stayed at this hotel a couple weeks ago and it was AWFUL!!! The rooms were very old fashioned and I don't mean retro. I had a bedbug in my room and reported it to the front desk who was very kind and tried to provide as much help as was given. The poor guy had to send SECURITY (because maintenance had left earlier during the day) to my room to remove the bedbugs from my room. He then switched my room and told me that the General Manger Andrew was schedule to come in tomorrow for me to speak to him. Unfortunately, Andrew (who was NEVER present during my stay's entirety) did not show up and I had to direct my problems to the clueless front desk agent in the morning. The staff outside of management was very helpful and provided the necessary amenities. Overall, this stay was very poor and I wouldn't recommend anyone going somewhere with such horrible management. If you can't file a complaint with on property management simply because they are consistently absent, then who can you talk to?

Bruce P, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for noting your observations. Please know that the hotel has entered a new time of property management. Current management is available and accessible. Our front desk staff has been and continues to participate in extensive training through Best Western programs. We strive for complete customer satisfaction---nothing less. Please accept my apologies for the occurrences of your last stay with us. I am sure that a future stay at our hotel would show you a far better experience.

awaggoner, Trussville, Alabama 30/06/2016

The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a 2:00 early check in. The girl at the front told me that if I waited until 4:00 that I could have a room on the first floor. They do not have elevators. I was grateful for the option and ran some errands while waiting on the room. The room had a nice size fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and blow dryer. The room and facility were clean. There is a good continental breakfast each morning. My only complaint is the door at the back side of the parking lot did not lock. You are suppose to use your room key to enter. I reported it the first and second day we were there. I was told they would come lock it and they never did. There are abandoned apartments right on the other side of the fence from the door. I did not feel safe going to get ice at night. The ice machine is right next to the unlocked door.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Awaggoner, Thanks for the kind review. I shared your words with our staff, and they loved hearing about your experience. I also wanted to apologize for the electronic lock on the back door not working briefly, but can I assure you it has since been fixed and is fully secure again. Thank you for your business, and we sincerely hope for the opportunity to serve you again soon! Andrew R

This property has gone downhill since my first review 3 years ago. Carpet and décor needs updating/cleaning. Strange odor in the room. A/C was not working properly upon check in. Desk clerk assured me that they would have maintenance look at it in the morning and the hotel was full so I couldn't be moved to another room. Never heard another word about fixing it..Staff was friendly, but things didn't run as smoothly as when Chris was the manager. Probably look for another property to stay at next year.

Donna T, Newton Grove, United States 23/06/2016

My family and I were looking for a place near the WWII museum down in New Orleans. I prefer Best Westerns over any other hotel chain. I chose wisely. The hotel was very clean, very well-decorated, and the breakfast was incredible! If you're looking for a place that's away from the nightlife of NOLA and is easy on your wallet, this is the place.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Donna, Thanks for the great review! We're thrilled you found our location to be so convenient to downtown NOLA, but also far enough out to enjoy a nice, quiet, comfortable night's rest. With us being a quick 15 minute drive to downtown, we believe we offer the best of both worlds! And as your mentioned, our complimentary hot buffett breakfast doesn't hurt, either! Thanks very much for your business, and we look forward to serving you again soon. Andrew R

We recently spent three nights here while visiting New Orleans. The room was clean and comfortable; included a lounge chair, frig, microwave. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast area with real scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy or grits, plus all the usual offerings. Weekday evenings there is usually something special offered like wine or beer with snacks. Nice pool area, though in early May, it was still a little cool to use it. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Hi Jlabonte, Thanks for the great review! We love hearing about experiences like yours, and rest assured I've shared your compliments with our staff! Finns2164, Austin, Minnesota 24/04/2016

After reading many hotel reviews we decided on the Best Western Bayou where we recently stayed for 3 nights. We were warmly greeted by AJ who proved to be a gem for information and service. We chose a room on the 2nd floor for more quiet and David the security guy helped us with our luggage. Our room was very clean and updated. The happy hour was minimal but appreciated. We ate at the Westbank Grill which was just a few blocks away and had a great meal. On AJ's advice we decided to drive into the WWII museum the first morning and it really went well and was no hassle. Easy in and out. We rode the trolleys all around the city and they are really convenient and inexpensive at 40 cents for the senior rate. We could not have found a better place to stay for convenience, value and the great staff.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Finns2164, Thanks for the great review! I shared your kind words with AJ, who very much remembers you, and was extremely proud to read your compliments. "Hotel stay"

User 20/04/2016

The staff at this hotel is the BEST. Helpful, friendly and doing their best to make our stay great. They all were so kind and doing far more than required to be good employees. My sister and I were doing a Road Scholar program in New Orleans and we left our car in their secure parking area. They suggested ways we could meet our goal of a swamp tour, even calling the places to see if there was space for us, and arranged for us to be picked up at our New Orleans hotel, for the tour and even called a cab for us . That staff is FIRST RATE.

David33388, Denver, Colorado 17/04/2016

This hotel was clean inside and out, and had an average complimentary breakfast. We did have a couple of issues the two days that we stayed here. First the AC control knob was broke which met that the unit either had to run on high all night or be turned off. We addressed the problem after our first night and were told that it would be looked into but nothing was done to fix the control knob. Second we were staying on the first floor and the guests on the second floor sounded like a herd of Buffalo walking around until late night. So much so that it was hard to get to sleep. I wouldn't be afraid to stay here but if you do stay on the second floor, (no elevators) and don't expect to much from the breakfast (no yogurt or food like that). I depend heavily on rating before I book a hotel and this hotel was rated high but unfortunate I can't give it the same high rating. I think for the money you can find hotels that are comparable if not better.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi David, Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. We're sorry to hear about your experience, as this is extremely uncommon for us. bbbutrfly, Jackson, MS 11/04/2016

We wanted an affordable place to stay near new Orleans. Good continental breakfast. room clean with microwave, fridge and free parking. Everything was clean and functional. They were renovating the deck and we had to find the side entrance in the rain, they improved their signage the same night. My friend scratched herself on the bed rails some how, the bathroom door knob was loose, and we had to make sure that we pulled the room door closed for it to lock.

We took a quick family trip to the NOLA zoo and aquarium. We were shocked by the prices of most hotels in the New Orleans area. We found this hotel, which was just outside the city and decided to take the risk in order to save some $$. It was perfect for us. Not too far from the attractions. The hotel appeared to be newly renovated. It was clean, with friendly staff. The free breakfast was great. I would definitely recommend.

We didn't want to pay the inflated prices of the hotels closer to downtown NOLA so we chose this place. The drive downtown was short and easy. It was close to the swamp tour we took (less than a mile!) and restaurants. The room was clean and the breakfast was hot. They provided free newspapers and a welcome bag with tourist goodies/coupons. The front desk was friendly and they let us check in super early without charging us! We will stay here again when we visit. It was a bargain and the money we saved staying here we got to spend on activities during our trip!

Ryan E, United States 03/04/2016

Friendly, comfortable, good value, convenient location. Area is fine and plenty of on-site security and visible police presence in the area for those concerned with safety. Every staff member was welcoming and willing to meet any request. Shower heads are low, so if your are over 6 ft. tall and want to shower... well this is less than comfortable.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thanks for the great review, Ryan. We're thrilled to hear that you found our staff to be so friendly and welcoming, as well as our on-site security. I've shared your feedback with them, and they loved hearing it. We're sorry to hear you found our shower heads to be a bit too low, but I would also like to mention that the shower heads are adjustable and may be raised to help accommodate our taller guests. "Hotel in Westwego, LA"

GeraldH35883, Decatur, Illinois 02/04/2016

This is an older hotel in need of some updates. There is no elevator so be prepared to do the stairs. Breakfast is offered. There is the basics; Danish, cereal, toast, bagels, etc. Getting into the hotel from the east you have to do a "U" turn due to the divider in the road. The only restaurant close is the Huddle House. Staff was friendly. My room had a small sink, microwave and small refrigerator.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Gerald, thanks for taking the time to write. I'd like to mention that we have undergone full renovations in November of 2014, and we are extremely proud of the modern look and updated, contemporary feel of our property. We're glad you enjoyed our full hot breakfast. In addition to the danish and cereal you mentioned, I'd also like to indicate our hot, fresh scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, sausage, and full waffle station complete with fresh toppings served daily, complimentary. Additionally, within a mere 5-10 minute drive of the hotel are 50+ restaurant options for our guest's dining pleasure, some of which even deliver right to your hotel room. Our friendly front desk staff will be happy to provide directions or phone numbers. Andrew R

Clean hotel away from the craziness of some of the touristy areas of the city. Staff was great and very helpful. The only negative thing I experienced was the mediocre cleaning job by housekeeping. Would stay here again in the future. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the free beer and snack during the week. ????????

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Jarron, thanks for taking the time to write. While we're glad you found our hotel and property to be clean, we are disappointed to hear about your housekeeping experience. getupradio, Addison, Texas 24/01/2016

Found hotel last minute for new orleans for sister's wedding. Nice property with friendly staff and good breakfast. 10 minutes away from french quarters and 20 minutes away from airport. Had yogurt, eggs, bacon, grits, and sausage.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for the great review! We always love to hear when our guests love our hot, complimentary breakfast served daily. Our close proximity to both downtown New Orleans and the airport only add to the value! We hope to see you again very soon. Andrew R

"Good hotel at a good price"

User 20/01/2016

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The front desk were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was really good. You go to other hotels and pay a lot more money and they don't serve you breakfast. Our room was very quiet and the bed were comfortable. My husband and I both agree that we will be staying at this hotel again.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Nekeisha, thank you for taking the time to write! We're thrilled you loved your stay, and that you found your room to be quiet and comfortable. And the hot, complimentary breakfast is my favorite part, too! Thank you again, and we look forward to serving as your host again very soon. Andrew R

"Amazing value 15 minutes from the Garden District"

David G, Phoenix, United States 18/01/2016

My second stay here and it is my first choice when I'm in Nola. Not much to look at from the highway, but the inside is spotless, rooms are comfortable & modern and service is super friendly. Value for the money is off the charts. Save yourself $100-$150 a night and stay at the Best Western Bayou Inn vs. staying in the Garden District.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi David, thanks for the kind words! We constantly strive to provide the best value, the nicest, cleanest, most comfortable accommodations, and the warmest, most welcoming environment for all our guests. We're thrilled you agree! We hope to see you again soon. Thank you for your business. Andrew R

"Excellent Hotel for TESLA folks"

5
Keith W, San Antonio, United States 31/12/2015

This hotel was in a great place on the route from Texas to Florida in New Orleans. Only thing better would be a cajun restaurant nearby. The TESLSA charger was in good shape and the spaces were available.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Keith, thanks for writing! We're extremely proud to be the only hotel in the New Orleans area that offers TESLA car charging stations as a complimentary amenity for our guests, and we're thrilled you found them useful! Andrew R

"Great Motel & free margarettas"

5
Gordon R, Carthage, Texas 30/12/2015

Near the BAYOUS & and all sorts of Cajun French atmosphere. The staff were anxious to he my wife and myself to check in and be comfortable. New Orleans is 20 minutes away but the cost of the room made the drive a GRIN. There are plenty of great food service places 5 or less minutes away. The room was great and free margaritas.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Gordon, thanks for your great review! We love hearing that you found our staff to be courteous and that we provided a great check in experience. Also, our complimentary margaritas that we feature on our very popular Margarita Mondays didn't hurt! We offer a complimentary guest appreciation happy hour Mondays-Thursdays, and glad you were able to partake. We hope to see you again soon! Andrew R

Claudia H, Fairhope, United States 07/12/2015

A lovely, comfortable hotel a little outside of New Orleans. We stayed here for a family weekend with both of our children and its worth the saving. The staff are very nice, the breakfast is awesome with plenty of choice. The beds are super comfy... the rooms are a nice size and clean. Bathrooms could do with a update, but did their job.. nothing major.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Claudia, thanks for the great comments! We loved hearing about your wonderful experience with us. Please be sure to visit us again on your next trip to NOLA, we'd love the chance to serve you and your family again! Andrew R

"Weekend trip to the French Quarter"

5
Laura C, Denton area, TX, United States 19/11/2015

This is a nice hotel for the money and not too far from the French Quarter (only 11 miles). The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. They offered us a complimentary glass of wine when we arrived which was nice after a long drive.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review

"EXCELLENT STAY FOR PRICE"

EXCELLENT STAY FOR the PRICE. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful, big selection. Service was prompt and helpful, we had a light bulb out they changed it for us. Internet in the room was steady and reliable. TV had a good selection of stations. Delivery service in the area was diverse. We ordered pizza one night and seafood the next night.

Anna L, Colorado Springs, United States 03/11/2015

So many good things about this hotel. Staff was very welcoming, accommodating. Took excellent care of two seniors, went out of their way to help with luggage, getting ice, providing directions. Really enjoyed the wonderful daily breakfast, the amenities, the positive atmosphere, and friendly willing attentiveness of everyone from front desk to room service. Location was perfect for our needs, easy to get on major highways, and to get to and from New Orleans. Also was pleasant to stay in non-congested area without traffic or noise.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi there, Anna, thanks for the amazing feedback! I have shared your thoughts on your stay with our staff, and it put a smile on all our faces. We are in this business to provide guest experiences exactly as yours, so thank you for the opportunity to serve you! We hope to see you back again very soon. Andrew R

"BOOM, BOOM, BOOM"

3
nova_falcon_fan, Gainesville, Virginia 29/10/2015

The front desk employees were very friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was great. But the unfortunate location is next to a 24 hour self-service gas station and quick mart. Many of the gas station patrons play their music very loud, ...the whole time they are fueling up their vehicle, and are inside paying for their purchase. Sometimes the bass sounds from the vehicles actually vibrate the hotel windows. This happens at all hours of the night. You may finally get to sleep only to be awaken by the quick mart dumpster truck making his rounds. Arrggghhh! Otherwise, good accommodations for the cost.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi There, thanks for providing your feedback. We're sorry to hear of the noise you experienced, but wanted to reassure you that we will always accommodate any room location request to the best of our abilities. We sincerely hope you give us another try, as our staff would love the opportunity to make your next stay as quiet, restful, and pleasant as you expect. Andrew R

Donna Kay F, Lafayette 22/10/2015

I reserved the room for my daughter for her wedding night. The staff went above and beyond taking care of the happy couple. They left a bottle of champagne in the room along with glasses and also decorated the bed in the shape of a heart with Hershey kisses. They were great!

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Donna! First off, congratulations on your daughter's marriage! We're thrilled you allowed us to take part in such a special event in you and your daughter's life, and the champagne and Hershey's chocolate were just a couple of ways for us to show our appreciation! We hope to see you back here again in the very near future. Congrats again to the bride on her nuptials! Andrew R

Room was kept very clean but the lobby floor and stairway didn't get cleaned on a regular basis. Breakfast was good except for the fruit. It was not always good quality.Staff were friendly and tried to be helkpful.

"Stifling scents"

2
Stasia S, Vienna 23/09/2015

This room had some sort of HEAVY fragrance that gave me a migraine. It looked like something was attached to the air conditioning unit, but there was no way to access. I expect a fresh, clean smell in a room, not a sickening perfume. People staying in nearby rooms were cooking, which didn't help. I would have left, except that my friend was visiting a nearby relative. In the morning, the yogurt I got off the breakfast bar was weirdly separated and inedible. Bad impression all around.

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Stasia, We're sorry you found the room to be scented too heavily. We are here to serve, so please next time let one of our friendly Front Desk ambassadors know, and we will immediately rectify the situation by offering a new room, prepared to your exact specifications. We hope you give us another chance to serve you again in the near future, so we may provide a better experience for you, which is always our goal. Andrew R

"Worst place to sleep or get work done"

2
Bailey P, Memphis, Tennessee 24/08/2015

I stayed here while visiting Tulane because it was cheap. I shouldn't have. It is a ways in to town (and I got lost literally every day). It is in the middle of nowhere, there are no (good) restaurants to pop over to if you get hungry. There is a gas station right next to it where people enjoy playing rap music as loud as they possibly can. Not only do the noise levels prevent anyone from working (and/or sleeping) , but the wifi is crap. The only reason it got "poor" instead of "terrible" is because the ladies working there were so incredibly sweet and helpful. And they give you free booze (probably to try to get you to forget how unhappy you are there).

Andrew R, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Bayou Inn, responded to this review
Hi Bailey, We're very sorry to hear about your experience. We are 10 miles outside of New Orleans, which is a straight shot directly off the Expressway, where we are located. Our staff is available 24 hours a day to assist with directions, which we'll be happy to print out for all guests. As for food options, Gretna, a short 5 minute drive away, offers a plethora of restaurants, both national chains and locally owned restaurants. We offer a full restaurant list at the Front Desk. If the room is noisy, due to the neighboring gas station, we will always be more than happy to change your room to a more satisfactory location, as we offer 2 floors which both extend a long way. We're certainly very happy to hear our staff was friendly and made you feel welcome. We sincerely hope you give us another chance to serve you. Andrew R
