Great find in the middle of DC. The hotel was a bit tired but it was clean and all the staff were fantastic! The value was definitely there, especially for a business trip. I didn't get to try the restaurant but they do have one available. I recommend.
Mimi was the best bartender! Very friendly, carried on a great conversation with her..great service! Food quality was great..orderd the house bread, tomato soup and house salad with steak. Highly reccomend the bar at The Beacon. Rooms were also comfy and heard there is a big ronnovation happening soon.
Very nice stay. Loved the Bar and Grille! Mimi was great snd a joy to visit with! And, the other restaurant staff was very . Room was clean and hotel staff very helpful. Close to all the monuments and attractions. Felt very secure as well. **********
Hotel is great. Staff is wonderful.. especially Mimi at the Beacon Bar and Grill. Such a professional and lively person! Will be back soon as I travel to DC often for business. Rooms were clean and updated and room service was attentive. Will gladly recommend.
The restaurant was great, had breakfast each morning, happy hour in the afternoon and dinner at night. Service was friendly and fantastic. The stay was also great, housekeeping, clean and happy to help. Front of desk was helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place to family and friends if they were to travel to Washington DC
My husband and I enjoyed our time here. The accommodations were comfortable and reasonably priced. The restaurant at the Beacon Hotel had delicious food that was well-prepared. Our bartender, Mimi, was outstanding! She was gracious, and made fine meal suggestions. We plan to return to the Beacon.
The room could use some sprucing. Update colors and carpeting. But with that being said, it was very quiet. You should certainly update TV so customers can use their own Netflix. All hotels have that these days. Mimi at the hotel bar was excellent. Friendly and accommodating.
Besides an extremely helpful and pleasant doorman who went above and beyond to help two women with two small children and a ton of luggage the rest of the staff was miserable (grunted replies & I guess were forbidden to smile) , and they could not be bothered to lift a finger to help (even when we struggled with the luggage cart coming out of the elevator with two crying kids. Another guest came from the lobby to help us get out of the elevator) . The room had a broken thermostat control, peeling wallpaper and see the attached picture for the bag of garbage that was left in our room the next day when we returned. Nor were the coffee & water replaced the following day. For the amount of money paid for this hotel I would have expected better service
Our family stayed at this exceptional hotel in Washington DC. It was everything we expected. It was centrally located near the metro rail, and our points of interest. Our room was perfect for our family of 4. with a kitchenette; good beds and fluffy pillows. Housekeeper checked on us every morning. She was precious. I would highly recommend this classy hotel!! Wonderful breakfast & dinner in restaurant. HIghly recommend!!
We decided to spend four days touring the sights in Washington DC. We walked quite a few places from the hotel. We went to the White House and Ford's Theatre. We went to the Capitol and Lincoln Memorial, and the Air and Space Museum, all walking from the hotel. The room was pleasantly appointed with amenities such as coffee and water. The beds were nice and firm. And the staff were very attentive! a nice place to stay while sight seeing!
So disgusting. Look at the pictures. Water dripping in bathroom and only excuses from the reception. The subway sounds every 10 minutes 24/7. Always different personnel so no answer to my questions or requests on changing of room. So disappointied.
Poor Parking arrangement, none on the website mentioned "valet parking" only. Room is very old, rusty everywhere. No refrigerator, no microwave, you can hear people talking from next door and hallway. Extra hidden fee will be charged into your account. My daughter and I have bugs bite all over our body, her face is having rashes and swollen, we never had experience in different hotel like this. Go and find another hotel if you don't have to stay here! Service is terrible too.
My stay at the Beacon Hotel in Washington, D.C. was a blend of positive and negative experiences. On the positive side, I must commend the front desk staff for their exceptional friendliness and professionalism. They were always attentive and eager to assist, making the check-in process smooth and welcoming. However, my experience was marred by serious concerns regarding cleanliness. After a few nights, my companion and I began waking up with mysterious bites on our legs. This occurred over several days, leading us to suspect some sort of insect issue in the room. Although we never confirmed what was causing the bites, the situation was unsettling enough that we requested a room change. The hotel staff assured us they would inspect the room, but unfortunately, we never received any follow-up or explanation about what might have been the cause. This lack of communication, combined with the discomfort of waking up with bites, left us feeling uneasy. While the staff's kindness was greatly appreciated, the issues with cleanliness and the inadequate response to our concerns significantly impacted our overall experience.
Excellent location and rooms are good, enough space. Good Breakfast inside the hotel. Room service is excellent. Only issue was the parking. 70 USD parking for a night is too much. However there are public garage within 5 mins walk with 34 USD / day rate.
I would not recommend this hotel. It is very outdated and the room was not very clean. When we opened the fridge door the smell that came out was not fresh at all. The room itself was also extremely dark. Even with every single light on, the room was not bright at all. The bathroom was tidy, but we didn't feel as though it was really clean. The old-fashioned shelving unit in the bathroom was dusty and dirty. The beds were not comfortable and felt very lumpy. The window in the room had been left open prior to our arrival and made the room humid. The furniture in the room was dirty and/or the coverings were flaking off. I sat on a towel on anything I sat on in the room. The front desk staff, housekeeping and the valet staff were all very nice and helpful. That was the one plus to the stay. For the price of this hotel, I was EXTREMELY disappointed and would never stay or recommend this hotel.
After a difficult day, finding a vegan burger and fries at happy hour hit the spot! Bed was comfortable, staff was helpful,: asked for air conditioning to be checked as it wasn't keeping up with 98F heat outside, and it was fixed right away. Maid service excellent, coffee and non-dairy creamer (hurrah).
The value for your money is very low. They ask a high extra fee for nothing; a typical shameless habit in a lot of american hotels. Small rooms and a small bed. Hygiene is bad. Bad and customer unfriendly service. They give you nothing extra; which a good hotel should do. Only the location is good.
I cannot recommend booking the hotel. After paying USD 100 a night via an online travel agency I had to pay additional USD 30 a night as a so called service fee direct to the hotel. It should be clear to know the whole room rate at the time of booking!!!
We stayed in Beacon for nine days, it is a very well located hotel, close to everything tourist, there are restaurants nearby, the subway station is nearby, the silver line passes through Farragut West.
we stayed at this hotel with friends). We liked. Purely! Carefully! Very convenient location, everything is within reach!) The view from the window is also beautiful!) Most importantly, it was clean!)
I had read the reviews and was a little hesitant to book but, was glad we kept out reservations. The location was very convenient and was in walking distance to a lot of things in the area. I do wish they had offered a shuttle service to / from the airport. They also could have made the lobby area a little more inviting and had cold water and coffee available for free downstairs.
The hotel was old, the team at the lobby mainly at night shift were extremely rude. The hotel charged US$34 per day resort fees and US$60 parking service. Definitely never come again.
The AC does not give control or even tells temp. Thermostat controls too streamline but worse in night some green issue slows the AC to barely functioning. Thermostat controls are joke can't control fan speed many ridiculously frustrating issues w AC
even though it's an older hotel it is kept very clean, and comfortable. The staff is friendly, and they go over and above with the service they provide. The location was close to everything, The Capital Mall, the subway, everything.
I recently stayed at The Beacon Hotel and Corporate Quarters for my cousin's family reunion, and it was the most disgusting and embarrassing hotel experience I have ever had. This hotel used to be great 10 years ago, but it has drastically declined. To start, one family member reported seeing a roach in his room. Two others did not have functioning air conditioning in their rooms. In my room, the bathroom was a disaster. It looked like they tried to resurface the tub but did a terrible job; the pad they put down in the tub was peeling off. The furniture was scratched and dented, with marks all over it. The wallpaper was peeling, and the closet door was barely on its track and squeaked loudly. One of the beds in my room had stains on the sheets, which was absolutely horrifying. The front desk staff was not helpful or friendly. My husband and I requested towels, and after waiting 45 minutes with no response, we had to call again. The front desk clerk simply said, “my bad.” We were never greeted when entering or leaving the hotel, and there was no bellhop or assistance with our bags. To top it off, one of the elevators was broken. The list of issues goes on. If you are a hardworking person who values your money, do not waste it on this hotel. It is truly pathetic, and I will never go back. Avoid The Beacon Hotel and Corporate Quarters at all costs!
Not the best hotel 1. The room was constantly warm. It never got cool even though there thermostat was set on 68. 2. The lamp and phone were not working when we called the front desk they asked it we needed someone to come to our room....that was the reason we called 3. The cable was not working for the first day. 4. We were told that parking at the hotel was $75 per day. It was $60 plus $10.80 tax per day (understand that) but there was also a $34.76 utility fee per day that was undisclosed. Bad business. The total for parking alone for 3 days was $316.68. Totally unexpected. 5. We had a do not disturb sign on the door but on the 2nd day we went to the front desk for fresh wash cloths and towels. They were out of wash clothes. Huh. 6. One of the elevators did not work. 7. People (not just us) had constant problems getting the key card to work on the elevator. On a positive note it had a stove and refrigerator in the room. They valet agents we very courteous. It was advertised as a luxury hotel. Not on a good day.
Beware of extra charges This hotel will charge a fee for each night of more than $30. While the location is good, there are much better hotels for the same price in the area. The rooms are old and there is nothing to warrant extra charges. Not worth it.
Horrific experience from start to finish, Staff will leave you standing at reception while they play with their computer. Our room was tiny and next to a lift that sounded like a barrel rolling across the celling every 2 minutes. When I complained, I was told it only runs from 7am to 10pm, and no offer to change my room. Thank you, I love paying €250+ per night for a room where the hotel decides at what time I can and cannot sleep peacefully. And they have the audacity to charge €35 extra per night for some ridiculous “resort fee”. This practice is disgusting and price gouging to make them look more attractive per night rate. It's illegal in the EU to do this, and rightly so, and the expiation I was given was to cover “wifi and other amenities”. Really? You think I should pay extra for poor quality wifi and a pool I didn't use in 2024? Notable that no one asked me how was my stay on checkout. I suspect they know the answer to that one. The only positive I can say is the housekeeping and location was good. Suggest you avoid this place. Horrific experience, we couldn't wait to get out of here, doesn't even deserve one star review. Avoid at all costs.
The valet service was terrible. They gave me the wrong car, hit the curb, and a traffic cone. On top of that, they drove away quickly and then almost backed up onto another car. To make matters worse, I was charged for two nights of parking when I only used it for one because it was so bad. They were unwilling to refund the extra charge, so I had to escalate the matter and speak to a manager. In addition to all of this, the wifi didn't work on one of the nights, when I called for more water, they never came up.
Ceiling leaking. They blame it on condensation from AC and do nothing. Shower doesn't drain. Shower quickly turns into bath. Sink doesn't drain. Wall paper is bubbling and falling apart. $300 per night Good location is only redeeming factor, would avoid if other options are available.
Jorge, was the Desk Associate when I checked in. I had some challenges with my room. Jorge not only came to understand the issue, moved me and came to help me move. I had a very specific request from an embassy I was visiting. Jorge was able to direct me to what I needed and it was resolved in minutes. It was his first day and he provided the excellent customer service we used to get. It was refreshing and pleasant. I would stay there again based on my experience with Jorge.
Sat with Mrs. Mimi at the bar! She was awesome !!! Made some great drinks & she was great to talk to!!! We're staying at the hotel & she made our stay very enjoyable!!! We would come back just to hangout with her!!!! Had a great experience! Thank you MIMI!!!
I enjoyed every moment of it. I recommend it highly to anyone. Very courteous and friendly employees.
Very good hotel, excellent location, friendly staff (except for 1 hahaha). Highly recommended! Service was very efficient and accommodating. Hope to stay there again in the future. Thank you for making our stay very comfortable. Cheers!
Mimi at the Beacon Bar and Grille is the best in all of DC!! Be sure to go! Cocktails are great and she is such a fun and attentive bartender. Asparagus salad with shrimp was delicious. Great location and convenience to many locations. Enjoy enjoy
Mimi at the beacon bar and grill made my experience worth every cent. She was friendly, attentive and great in service. We need Mimi in our state, I appreciate the humbleness. She made great drinks and provided excellent service as my drinks became empty
My wife and I spend 4 night in this hotel. The room was not clean . The fan coil was old and very noisy and when you turn it on it was too warm and when you turn-it off The room was cold ( no adjustment). They charge s resort fee and wifi was terrible. There were two small elevators usually crowded. The location is good . I think I had lots of better choice in dc with this budget.
The location was good. The cleanness was very poor. The air conditioner was very bad with loud voice and i had to wake up many times at night to turn it on or off and it was not automatic. The room was very small. The house keeping did not clean the room very well and even she did not put the shampoo and body wash in their own place when they clean the room. Also When we arrived the body wash bottle was empty and i called reception and told them but no one came. They even did not all shampoo and body wash bottles check when they want to give the room to a person who just check in. Generally it was not cost benefit.
Nice budget hotel to stay in especially something closer to all memorials. All staffs are respectful and very kind to assist us and answered all our questions. I like the valet parking to help ensure the safety of our car. Rooms are little bit dated but it's clean. My husband and I are not particular about the design of the room. Our focus are cleanliness and comfort.
Clean functional hotel for a brief stay. Easy walking distance to all attractions. Safe and good neighbourhood. Rooms r bit dark and light was insufficient but overall a decent one to stay. They do have kitchen amenities and microwave etc. Bathroom shower is too small esp for taller people.
It had the perfect room that I wanted. It faced towards the crossings and I could see the view very clearly in the morning seaping my coffee. Staffs were very very very helpful. Almost for three days (the whole stay)they got me my Google map printed suggesting the shortest root to walk as I always preferred to walk. Very near to the Du Point Circle and the Mexican food chi pole. Church nearby. just less than a second .... as a whole I loved it. And the surroundings were.... safe and romantic. I have an experience of returning to the room at 10:30 PM from my party after the conference. I just walked around 45 minutes from there to George Washington town too.. and a 10-15 walk to the obelisk and the Abraham Lincon Memorial and so much........ amazing. But unfortunately, I have not clicked a single photo inside the room or near the hotel. Just one photo I have is maybe a minute or two minutes far from the hotel at the square I guess where I am standing near the beautiful painitings.
We were in a room next to two neurotic dogs, the owners abandoned them around 6pm and returned around 1am, the hotel staff were not able to do anything about the dogs, and were not sympathetic to the noise complaints.
I would avoid this hotel. It is kind of run down, the elevators are small and unpleasant, the lobby also cramped, and my room had a lot of siren noise and a barely functioning shower, the staff seemed kind of resigned. They also charge serious junk fees, like a significant daily junk fee that supposedly covers bottled water. I was a little shocked to see it listed as 4 star, as it has more a 2-3 star feeling. That said, if its a good deal -- maybe? -- just be aware of the junk fees.
First off, I booked through stayforlong , and got a good rate. With the note that the hotel would charge a facility fee of 40ish buck. Well, that was per night. Then I discover parking, which is valet only, and with little no parking nearby, is *$70* a night. The add one more than doubled my bill. The rooms are ok. They smell of the air freshener. They douse the elevator in it so much I choked . The staff is just there to get paid, except the one desk clerk who checked me in who was actually nice, and efficient. Don't even have any vending machines. Just an overpriced bar (with no room charges). 4.50 for a cook! Not really near anything, even the subway.
For the price you pay to stay, there should be more amenities and updates. No Fridge or microwave in the room which is a inconvenience. The shower in our room was clogged, the water didn't drain properly. The TV was on the right side of the bed, we had to turn the TV around in order to look at it comfortably. Having to use our keycards to work the elevator every time we had to go up to our room was bit annoying. We would swipe the keycard and the other othe elevator door would open which was scary especially if you were leaning on it, we didn't know it would open.
Greta hotel ! Very close to everything you need and greatly priced! I would come back for sure, staff was fast and reliable! This was first time in D.C. and I am glad I stayed at this wonderful hotel!
Terrible the rooms are outdated for the price point. The hall ways smelled like weed. The staff were rude. The elevator was small and took forever. Terrible experience and this was the second time I gave them a chance. Don't book with them!
I've never written a bad review like this before but there is no hot water available in the shower or sink and no wifi. When I called the front desk to ask about the wifi the woman first said there must be something wrong with my computed (I have travelled for work weekly for years) and then said I should use the wifi in the lobby because that one works. And no apology or attempt to help. Also if you get in before 3pm they will charge you for an early check in even when there are plenty of rooms available. It's a good location and price but this is beyond ridiculous.
My family and I enjoyed the stay at the Beacon. It was very clean and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The valet parking was $70 per day. The Beacon is 10 minutes from the attractions. When we go to D.C we always stay at this property.
We'll situated in easy walking distance of a Metro Red Line, and 3 Circulator buses, the Beacon is a good choice for those who want a hotel a bit removed from the beaten path, but still close to shops and restaurants. I always stay here when I'm in town.
Close to everything! Room Service was Excellent! House staff was great on check in/check out and only thing I would have liked was more coffee in Room! Other than that was very good experience all around1
I landed at The Beacon with hopes of finding a condo within a week or two... Three days later, offer accepted on the perfect place! How??? Above - and - Beyond service from people who opened their hearts to welcome me as their new neighbor, every bit as excited about me being here as I am. Ask, and you will be given guidance, as if Family. Mimi, in the restaurant, hooked me up with an amazing realtor, and waited for News with me through the process. Cayce at Front Desk shared his favorite place to buy brownies, and Metro tips. And Duyen spread my coverlet across the bed every day... Everyone. All the extra, sweet touches & details that show They Really Care. I found more than just a hotel, here... I made my first DC friends. Very very good people.
Couldn't accommodate changing my stay one night earlier without charging me the entire price for the room and losing money for the original night reserved. Plenty of rooms were available. Ridiculous parking fee of $60.00. Early check-in $50.00. Many more hotels to stay at in the area
Stayed here 2 nights at end of Sept 2023. Was very impressed with the standard of the room, and in such a great location, only a 1km direct walk from the White House and not much further to the National Mall. Lots of night life within a couple of hundred metres from hotel. Staff were very friendly. Had a lovely breakfast both mornings. Highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed at the Beacon Hotel for 2 nights en route to Canada. Overall, my experience was fine however it's my opinion that travelers can find a better bang for their buck elsewhere. The good: staff was professional and attentive , room was clean, housekeeping staff was very attentive and thorough and the location is PERFECT. Tons of restaraunts, coffee shops and little shops all just a stones throw from the hotel. Not so good: the valet pricing $60/night is price gouging at its finest — so out of principle, I found parking elsewhere. The hotel itself although quite clean, is in dire need of a renovation. Hallways, lobby, room was all severely banged up and tired. Water pressure in the shower was so low I could hardly shampoo my hair. Wi-Fi was so slow I had to use my own personal data. Another majorly annoying thing was the lock on my door. I had to have a new card key issued 6 times in 2 nights. Extremely annoying especially after you've had a long day and have your hands full.
Location was great! Hotel was okay. Room was small and only had 2 towels for a party of 3 people. No ice bucket or refrigerator in the room. I would NOT recommend eating at their restaurant. Not much of a selection on the menu and my meal was awful...raw chicken wing in my caesar salad....no croutons, bacon bits or parmesean cheese and cost me $25.00+
There is a fine line between being hospitable and being IN hospitality. This hotel is the latter, as they do not seem to understand the first. Upon arrival, indeed early, around 10.30AM, we were told that "if the room is ready they will have to charge an early check-in fee." Well, that's a welcome other than the expected "welcome sir, nice to have you here and let me see if I have a room for you.". Don't get me wrong, if you demand an early arrival up front, it is not more than logical to pay for it when they keep the room. But if by chance, the room is ready and you at Frontoffice can spread out the arrivals by starting checking in already, it's weird to have the customer paying for a room that's vacant anyway. This sets the tone for the rest of the experience well. It even got worse when the clerk told us they charge a facility fee, that was not communicated upon booking nor on our confirmation. At 30usd a night, for some questionable facilities like water and WiFi (funny as advertised free too), is completely ridiculous and shows the bad intentions the hotel has, not to run an honest business but just make maximum to optimise profit. When disputing the charge, I was told that the is "what we do", by the manager. I should have informed myself as it is communicated on their website. When I indicated that it was not when I booked, nor on my confirmation, they indicated that this was my problem and not theirs and I had to take that up with the third party I booked with. I can in some way understand that this is something the booking agent needs to correctly pass on, however just making it the problem of your guest, and charging their card because you have it, is not an appropriate way of doing it. Of course you will get your customers upset. I feel sad for the employees that work here, and are pushed in these practices by the organisation they work for, waking up each morning and having to face yourself in the mirror might be hard so keep in mind that if they try to scam you this way, it's nothing personal but just the sad practice they are performing for their employer. Help yourself, don't book this hotel because despite the good location and decent rooms, you can easily spend the 30 bucks extra a night that they will charge you on a really nice property that won't.
It's a union hotel with union staff which is great but the resort fee and lack of amenities are frustrating. The hotel bar and restaurant aren't bad prices compared to the area and the rooms are comfy.
The room ac was well functioning. Service was great. I love to recycle towels and they left our used towels while leaving fresh one. Staff very approachable and helpful. The hotel is very conveniently located
All the staff are amazing! I had an extended stay and I didn't have any issues. Everyone was attentive, and friendly! They also have an awesome variety of snacks at the front desk. They come in handy!
I booked the deluxe king room. We had a late check in (1am) and no staff was present at front door making our check in longer than needed. We were then charged a $60 self parking fee and a $30 “resort fee,” we used nothing additional on property. When we arrived to our room it was at 74.5 degrees, we turned the AC down to 71 but it never cooled because at 6am I woke up to a 76 degree room. This was reported but not fixed. There was a huge painting on floor next to bed. None of the lights by bed worked, only the bathroom one so I had to use my phone flashlight to see around room. When it came time to shower, there was no hot water available. Luckily for me the room was so hot it actually felt worth the cold water. Housekeeping walked in at 9am assuming we had checked out already even though check out was at stated to be noon. Only good thing was location. If you care for some comfort after a 6hr drive, this place is not it. Room was advertised for $208. At end after all these ridiculous fees I got charged close to $500.
Worst hotel experience I have ever had… First, the hotel didn't match our room that I booked it was much smaller in person. There was no microwave or fridge so don't bring any food to store ! Within the first 15 minutes of settling into my room, come to find a women trying to get into my room claiming my room was her room. The front desk both gave us keys for room 202, I did not book the room with this lady and had no idea who she was. After sorting it out, the stay at the hotel was subpar, the lobby is nice but once you step into the elevator the hotel was dirty and run down! My towels smelled like they were used. Despite paying my room In full when I checked in, once I checked out they charged me a 200$ fee for smoking when I'm not a smoker and did not smoke in the room. When I called and talked to the manager to dispute this charge and discuss it the manger gave me no reasoning, got angry and hung up on me! I've never experienced anything like this, Don't waste your time, don't book it !!!!
Hotel is very outdated. Rooms don't look like the pictures. No fridge or microwaves in the rooms. The metro stops aren't very close. Nearest metro entrance is about 4 blocks away. Parking is $69 dollars and they have only 5 spots.
Convenient hotel location in the middle of DC, clean and comfortable rooms with nice view. Attentive and thoughtful staff. I would choose to stay here again, and would recommend to other travelers. Thank you.
This is a very good mid-range hotel. The room wasn't the newest, but it was clean and comfy. Service was alright, and the neighborhood around the hotel seemed very safe. It's about a ten-minute walk to the Farragut North Metro Station, and another few minutes to Farragut West, which is very convenient. The property does add a $30-per-night facility fee, but even so, the overall rate was still better than comparable hotels in Downtown DC during peak travel season.
Since this property was part of the Best Western brand, and since I had enough points for two nights, I decided to stay here for a religious gathering. I could complain about the parking rate per night ($60), but, it is Washington DC, so I get it. I would have loved to have had that Beacon restaurant be open and available. However, it was explained to me that due to the COVID restrictions that plagued Washington DC, the restaurant had to close. But they did say that they plan to open the restaurant again eventually. I am not pleased that there was a $30 per night "resort fee", when the only thing I benefitted from was receiving bottled water. I did like having the bottled water, but should have taken $60 worth of bottled water, since I stayed there for two nights. The staff there was exceptionally nice. I forget their names, but the staff was great. As for my room, I was given a suite that had a kitchen in it. I was grateful for this. However, in my kitchen, there was only one wine glass. Now I was by myself, however, if a couple were staying there and wanted to enjoy some wine, would they have had to share one wine glass? Also, as a suggestion, maybe have some dishwashing liquid there like Dawn or Palmolive. I know that they had a dishwasher and dishwashing powder. But what if you only dirty a few dishes, and there is not enough dishes to necessitate filling up a dishwasher? Have some dish washing liquid instead for the small load of dirty dishes. And yes, I did clean my own dishes and cleaned up after myself, like my mother taught me to. LOL. As for the coffee maker, that seemed like more of an espresso machine. It was OK, but I would have preferred the Kuerig with regular K-cups, The room was very clean, no complaints there. The closet and bathroom combination was unique, to say the least. So the coat closet is in the bathroom, with shelves for your clothing, yet in the bathroom. It was OK since I was by myself. But what if two people were staying in that room? if one was in the bathroom showering, the other person might be inconvenienced if he/she had to access where their clothing is stored. Still, I never saw a closet like that in a hotel bathroom before. Overall, it was a neat hotel that served my needs. I did absolutely love that St. Matthews' Catholic Cathedral was literally a block away. I was able to attend Daily Mass there, very convenient. Thank you to the staff for a pleasant stay.
do NOT go here, the rooms are super outdated. Unless you like to live in a 60s style room that has never been renovated. The room looked clean, but it will feel dirty just because all the furniture desperately needs replacing.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room clean. The bathroom disappointed because there was little place to put anything and the toilet, beside being so short, was so close to the bowl with the water that it was hard not to dip your hand while cleaning your self.
The amenities were great and a HUGE thank you to Elvis! I lost my earring in the drain and he was able to rescue it for me so quickly!! Other staff was super helpful and kind as well but thank you Elvis!
The good things: staff was great, bed was comfortable, pillows were superb. The disappointments: 10 minute walk to Metro to airport; hotel restaurant and bar closed, nearest food 5-7 minute walk; rooms need to be updated - TV had fuzzy picture, shower curtain did not pull across leaving puddles on floor after showering -- previous guest's problem with this left the bathroom moldy; previous guests hospital bracelet was in trash can upon my arrival; one of three lights was broken; coffee maker was complicated and after figuring it out, it produced an undrinkable cup of grey water. None of these things are fatal flaws, but together they made for a less than pleasant experience. There's lot of other hotels around, next time I will try someplace else.
Fantastic stay at this historical hotel in DC. The hotel is old school with a lobby for watching sports and chatting with other guests. Rooms are small but cozy and beds comfy. The associate, Prosperity N., worked non-stop during my stay, and she tended to all the small details that make a trip go seamless. Special shout out to her as she was professional and friendly, going above board to make guests stay wonderful!
PROS: Great location and close to many good restaurants. The front desk staff are very friendly. Jayce checked me in and he was very welcoming and helpful. Because I stayed for 5 days, I got a free upgrade. The housekeeping staff are also amazing and they kept my room clean and smelling good. The bed and the pillows are comfortable and the sheets are really nice and soft. Overall, the staff have great customer service and if I'm rating them separately from the room, I'd give them 5 stars. CONS: The room itself needs refurbishing. The wallpaper seams are coming loose and starting to peel off. The shower needs an upgrade and the water pressure is not great. The toilet creates a loud noise each time you flush. I could hear the toilets flushing in other rooms. The rooms are also not insulated from outside noise. If management fixes this, it will significantly change the experience of their customers.
Upon arrival I ask where to park because it was full so I told her I parked in front and she said someone would get it for me but 30 minutes later they called to tell me I got a 100 dollar parking ticket .After I paid valet $ 50 to park my car in the first place!Could let's us know a head of time what could have happened if we park after 4 on the side of road !They did apologize but need more concern for others!
The Beacon is in a great part of town -- it's central to a lot of bars, restaurants, and cultural sites. It's in a very LGBTQ-friendly neighborhood as well. My stay was short and I felt like there were a lot of hidden fees upon arrival. First, there's a maintenance fee of about $24 dollars that they take upon check-in. It was unclear why or what that charge was for especially since I didn't use anything in my room and didn't trash the place when I left. This was deducted from the standard deposit most hotels use when they take your CC. They also charged me for an early check-in, which was $30. I guess that's reasonable, but I've been to other hotels that have been more accommodating that have done this for free. Also, the bathroom had a toilet that need to be flushed multiple times whenever you used it -- thankfully I wasn't expecting guests. Finally, one of the lights in the bedroom had a sensitive wire so you had to be careful when you touched it so that the light wouldn't go out.
I stayed at the Beacon Hotel & Corporate Quarters this past Saturday night, (December 17th). It's an excellent hotel, situated right in the heart of Washington DC. It's easy to get anywhere in the city from there and may places are within walking distance. I truly wanted to give kudos to the young man at the desk who helped me with everything. His name is Jayce and I think he's the friendliest, most knowledgeable person I've ever dealt with at any of the hundreds of hotels I've stayed at in my life. Simply put; Jayce is absolutely the best!
We had a pleasant experience staying at this hotel. The front-desk service was great. Check-in process was very fast and we felt very welcomed. The room was spacious and comfortable. We found it clean and tidy when we arrived. The only thing that we did not like is that the hotel is not yet offering breakfast service/restaurant. Even though there are lots of options to order food, it's kind of pricey due to the taxes and delivery fee. The experience would had been perfect if the hotel would had offer breakfast and restaurant to dine-in.
Jayce at the reception was great!!! He was very welcoming and accommodating. He gave us good restaurant options, thing do do while we are in Washington, DC. He also provided good tips on Museums. Thanks Jayce!
During my last visit to DC, I stayed at the Beacon. The room was nice. But, the stars of the hotel were two staff persons. At the front desk, Jayce was a true delight. He was friendly and so helpful. He was knowledgeable and gave me excellent suggestions for restaurants and things to do. Solomon, at the bell desk, was always there to assist me. His friendliness and willingness to to help was very appreciated. I thank them for making my stay even better.
I had the pleasure of having Jayce (Receptionist)over the duration of my stay at the Beacon Hotel. He made everything very easygoing. If I had an issue, he attended to it very nicely and professionally!
Elvis has not left the building! Elvis Stephenson is omnipresent helping guests at the hotel. He is a good dude, outgoing, positive, friendly and helpful. The two fellows often staffing the lobby bellhop station are also kind, friendly, nice persons.
The gentleman at the desk, Jayce, was awesome. When asked if he could get us an upgrade, he worked very hard in accommodating us. The room was very nice . I would definitely recommend the Beacon to anyone wanting a place to stay I. DC. It's location is easy walking to DC' bath museums and attractions .
We ended up at the Beacon hotel after we booked some other terrible place. We were so happy to stay here. The Beacon has a chique presence. The room is spacious, very clean and comfortable. The bed was soft. There was water and coffee and a safe. The airconditioning was a little bit noisy. The location is great, only 700 meters from the White house and other highlights of Washington. The hotel has valet parking which is very convenient. We had an absolute great time.
The hotel was situated in a nice area of DC, but the actual room was dingy and out dated. Plus the bathroom had a pipe that was leaking the whole time. For a budget, this place works, but I would not recommend it for any luxury or high end stay.
This hotel offered no guest service, no restaurant, no food. I was offered the upgrade room service which should have been offered to me at check in, this was not offered. The elevator broke, did not open on lobby level.
We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. We appreciated the helpful staff, our beautiful room, and the great location. We could easily walk to the White House and the other attractions near the National Mall. There were many restaurants available nearby which was another valuable feature.
Jayce was very welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. His dinner recommendation was perfect, providing us with an address and directions. His personality and great customer service skills were very well received after our long flight.
The front desk staff was courteous, friendly & helpful, Jayce was often on duty when we needed assistance. He did a great job! The housekeeping staff was accommodating & friendly. A few wall hooks in the bathroom and closet would have helped us keep our room more orderly (3 people). Room was quiet. We would stay there again. Thank you for a comfortable stay! Jane V., room 317
Very nice hotel that was close to Smithsonian, monuments, shopping, and public transportation. Hotel clerks Jayce and Miriam were very friendly and accommodating with our requests. Highly recommend this hotel!
The only time this hotel staff is cooperative is when you're holding out tip money. I was unable to retrieve my car for an early flight because no one from Valet was present. I asked the man on duty if he would help me and was told it “wasn't his job” and he didn't know if he could “fit into my car”. Who says that? I would never recommend this hotel for anyone expecting to get what you pay for. Also, the restaurant was closed indefinitely, the television in my room didn't work because they were “updating the system” and there were bugs in the room. This was money NOT well spent.
For a 3-4 star hotel in prime DuPont circle location charging average-high price you would expect better quality and amenities. Hotel itself and the room is terribly outdated and run down- old carpet, rusty door frames, broken lamps, cracked paint, broken faucets, and dirty furniture. It did not feel clean at all and the bed was super soft with rough sheets. Also Sound traveled easily. Overall it had rather limited to zero amenities- I couldn't even get a cup of team from the front desk or make my own at night in my room (no water kettle). Understanding everyone had COVID issues and the service industry suffered, that's no longer an excuse for no food/beverage or service, and the random chips and water at the lobby doesn't suffice for the price per night (I paid approx $250/night). Their site advertises more amenities than truly available now. It's fine if you're looking for a good location and not particular about the quality/cleanliness but I would not recommend it esp for out or town business use as they advertise. Sorry to say but the hotel needs a major remodel and some management care! Maybe I am picky but I checked out early and went somewhere else because I was not comfortable. You can find locations that are way cleaner and more modern for a tiny bit more in the same area.
Teddy is the best. Hey was soooo helpful. The desk staff is amazing and always upbeat. The hotel is in such an amazing location walking distance to everything. Will stay again for sure. Thanks for the great stay.
We asked for rooms close to each other if possible but if that was a problem hopefully on the same floor. We were thrilled we got rooms just two apart. Excellent, right? No, they were on either side of the maid's service area where banging, loud talking and laughing started at 8 a.m. - every - single - day. One of the bathrooms only had scalding water while the other room was fine. We reported it to the front desk and they were not interested. Finally said they'd have the engineer look at it. Nothing was ever done. The television in one room did not function properly. Any channel selected had the same sitcom on it. MSNBC, CBS, NBC, PBS...all had the same sitcom showing no matter they day or time. Asked for this to be fixed and was told the engineer would look at it. Again, a waste of breath. Here is where pettiness comes out. We love morning and evening coffees and were pleased to see the in-room coffee maker. Creamers are only CARAMEL. I ask the maid's for plain cream ones and got more caramel ones. I ask at the front desk and they don't have any plain ones either and SELL me a pint of milk. Nice "service"... The maids do get a shout out for keeping the room neat and tidy. We were very grateful and tipped well. All maids, in my opinion, deserve good tips. This hotel is clearly going bust. No "remodeling or refurbishment" of the restaurant and/or bar was ever evident. I was sucked in by the glossy depection of the hotel, it's "typical" quests in evening attire, "lovely" rooms, etc. Let me correct myself, it should go bust to save hundreds of people the disappointment in wasting their money. We moved to another hotel. I have never done that before so that tells you how bad The Beacon really is.
The rooms are dated with stained and chipped furniture. The rooms are abnormally small and the ceilings are way too low. I'm 5'6 and couldn't fully extend my arm up in the shower. The restaurant is closed and so is the business center. The facility fees are outrageous for the speed of internet given. The tv has to be a first model flat screen from 2002. It wouldn't even allow you to scroll between channels without having to turn the tv off completely, then turn it back on, to get to the lower channels. The shower curtain was stained. You all thought it was sanitary to put drinking glasses above the toilet... The air conditioning unit has two temperatures, meat freezer cold or Sahara hot. The bellman was great though.
Overnight Parking very expensive! Consistent issues with key cards. Bar and Restaurant closed which was disappointing. Quiet and safe location with easy access to major tourist attractions.Jayce at Reception was super helpful and friendly.
We arrived early so we asked where to go for lunch. We were directed to a place only a few blocks away and it was a good choice. We got back around 2 or so and we got our rooms. The two bedded room was nice and every thing appeared clean, which is a must have in our books. Then I went into the bathroom…. The toilet seat is 12 1/2 inches high meaning a second grader would think it perfect. I am a 67 yr old woman who does weight lifting and this toilet is 4” lower than a regulation squat. I got into a squat and did a free fall for the 4 inches to the toilet seat, landing with a thud. I felt like shouting GOAL! Next, there were 4 k-cups for coffee, 4 fake milk creamers (fmc) and 6 caramel creamers, which should be outlawed. I had a coffee and used 4 fmc. I asked for more fmcs when we got back from dinner. They only had caramel creamers (see above) so I had to PAY for a pint of milk. Grrr, I did and was polite about it but inside I was not happy at all. Then I wanted ice. My room is on the second floor and ice is on 1st and 3rd. I went to 3rd but my keycard didn't work so I couldn't get off. A gentleman on the elevator used his card so I could get off. I got my ice and boarded the elevator, swiping my card for 2nd floor. It did not work and I was deposited in the lobby. There I was given a new card and finally arrived at 2nd floor, with ice. I am now in bed and fearful of my next trip to the toilet but I do have ice.
The location of this hotel is its best feature as it is only ten minute walk to the White House so ideal for tourists. The room was spacious with a little sitting area and a big bathroom but the decor is boring. The reception staff were very friendly and pleasant We were disappointed to find that there was no restaurant or bar open in the hotel. They have been closed since covid but I don't think that can be used as an excuse any more. This should be highlighted on the webpage. There are plenty of restaurants within five minutes walk but it is nice to be able to have a dring or a bite to eat at the hotel. The wifi was only ok and got very slow once guests started to get up in the morning.
No breakfast, no restaurant, no bar., no sleep. But afterwards they bill "facility fees" to the credit card of 55 dollar for 2 nights . This is theft in my opinion. On top of that there is no isolation between the walls at all. You hear literally everything that happens in the other rooms . Also we were on the 9th floor and heard every little noise on the street. No restaurants or subway in the neigbourhood. Never again for us......
We had a wonderful time in this hotel. Prosperity at the front desk and Deanna in housekeeping are outstanding in their customer service. Lots of things to do within walking distance. Very recommendable.
Stayed here for 2 nights in August. Plusses are the location, it's only a short walk to dupont circle which is a lovely area to eat and drink, plus a walk to the Whitehouse is not a long one. The room was clean and spacious and we generally enjoyed our stay here. The staff on the front desk are a strange lot though. A bit rude and distant at times I have to say.
Very nice hotel, with big comfortable beds, a good aircon system and daily bed changing services. The hotel is in a good location, tourist attractions are just a short uber away or around a 30 minute walk. The tv can be a bit confusing, sometimes having a mind of its own but was otherwise very good.
The restaurant and the bar are still closed and there is no option for breakfast and no fridge in the room so it's not easy with children. We have also received several mails offering to apply for an upgrade but when we arrived, the receptionnist wasn't aware. For people using Booking, the mandatory $28 fees (for Wi-Fi, fitness centre,...) are already included in the price.
Roof top bar and restaurant is currently closed due to covid. So why promote it on the website knowing it's closed? Also, charging over $50 per night for un operating valet garbage is insane… the garbage door isn't working so they parked my rental in front of the hotel building. Waste of money! Lastly, the wifi SUCKS!! Besides that, it's a clean and comfortable hotel. Walking distance to everything!! But they need to fix these minor issues
Wifi download speed - 0.75 mbps, upload - 4.66 mbps. Zoom and FaceTimes would disconnect. Told staff, but the front desk attendee told me there was nothing they could do and said it was rare since no one else reported wifi. Other staff members were very kind and made the stay enjoyable. It's a good room, but for the price you pay after the membership fee, you might be better off finding somewhere else if you need to take meetings in the room or FaceTime.
My boyfriend and I stayed here in DC as one of our stops on a road trip down south. The room was very cold when we arrived. We went to get dinner thinking it would warm up while we were gone- that was not the case. Its location was fine except for the fact that most of the restaurants and food establishments nearby closed around 6 or 7. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Later that night the temperature in our room dropped to 55 degrees. Also, our room did not have a microwave or fridge.
The staff were all so rude to us. The cleaning lady never cleaned anything and only left more towels. On top of this, the internet was horrible and we had two outlets that didn't work. We also had a kitchen with only one stovetop that worked. Even though I paid for the upgrade our room was still extremely small and we didn't have any view either. I didn't want to say anything to the staff since they were already rude to me when I checked in. The man had an attitude and kept ignoring me when I asked what was included in the deposit fee. He wouldn't even clearly explain it to me or give me some kind of receipt. I've definitely learned not to book with a hotel just because it's cheap.
Excellent location! Close to Embassy row, the airport and dining. You can easily walk to get breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Beacon Bar and Grill was temporarily closed when we were there which was unfortunate. Very clean hotel with friendly staff. Uber from the airport is around $25 depending on the time of day.
Great staff!!!! Stayed across the street at another hotel and moved over when trip was extended to save some dough. The room was 50 bucks a night cheaper but surprise there was 39.00 Desort fee that is not that obvious that made it almost as expensive. Checked in...First room AC was loud and did not work. Super nice manager moved me to another room and the tv did not work. and took 2 trips to get it fixed. Elevator is too slow and everything was well worn though clean. Got off the elevator and I counted 3 different types of flooring from 1980 1990 2020 within view and totally random styles of lighting like they just bought what was on sale. SAD. Restaurant and bars are all closed and abandoned. Just feel like that they are really deceptive with the "resort fee" . That is just manipulative. I booked and then when I went to pay, there it was and too late I had given up my room at the previous hotel. Nice Nice Nice folks but they are working in a sub-par hotel with iffy policies.
This is NOT a 3 or 3.5 hotel! Our flight was delayed so we arrived around 1am. We thought the location was great, but were actually surprised upon walking into the tiny dingy looking lobby. The front desk rep was so excited because we had an "upgraded" room on the 8th floor which he described as luxurious. We were tired, but very disappointed once we saw our room. Yes, it included a small kitchenette and living space, but it was truly outdated. The snack area is a joke, a few chips, cookies, and sodas behind the checkin counter on a shelf. So tacky! Anyway, we slept and showered in our "hot" room. Otherwise we couldn't stand to stay in this dingy depressing place. There is also a $28/day resort fee upon checkout. Not worth it!
I stayed here for a week with my son. The location is pretty great. The staff were awesome. Check-in was great. Housekeeping was awesome. However, restaurant and rooftop bar were closed due to “Covid”. C'mon, it's 2 years later. Stop using that excuse. I booked here in part because of the restaurant and rooftop bar only to learn AFTER I checked in that it was closed. Very inconvenient. I was charged $30 a day for WiFi and 2 bottled waters/day. Ridiculous.
Clean rooms, good staff. Overall a very good experience. Room was spacious with 2 double beds and a pull out couch. Only 2 minor drawbacks (for my family at least.) Small elevators and no refrigerator.
We enjoyed three nights at this Dupont Circle-area hotel. An older building, the lobby and rooms have been recently renovated with fun, vibrant furniture. (While not currently open, the dining area looks great also!). We booked 2 rooms for our extended family - a double and a single. The double was spacious (couch and work area), while the single was quite small. We encountered a problem when the air conditioning stopped working in the single. It is instructive to see how a hotel handles a problem when such a problem crops up - the Beacon was great. They immediately sent a facilities person to fix the HVAC. When unable to repair the unit, within an hour they moved my mother into a different room with working air conditioning. In fact, they moved her into a lovely suite with a kitchenette. Both rooms well appointed with mini fridge and an espresso machine! A microwave was available on our floor near the ice machine. Great water pressure in shower. All the staff (front desk, porters, cleaning) were friendly and helpful, answering questions and problem-solving for us. We had a great time. Recommend. (I have read the reviews of people who stayed at the Beacon around the same time as us - I understand some of their comments - yes, the building is older, with slow-ish elevators. However, we found the rooms to be immaculate with bright sunny windows, not at all dark or dank or dirty! We booked through a third party website and our booking price did not add a facilities fee.)
Overall, the Beacon is not an impressive hotel. The location and staff are great! But the rooms seem outdated, dank and not the cleanest. There were stains on the wall, the carpet is a splotchy dark brown which gives an appearance of being dirty, the bed was full sized (not a queen as requested) and the room was small. For what we paid for the room, we thought it would be more luxurious. If not for the great location and the kind staff, I'd rank this hotel much lower.
Our stay was great. But Mr. Monte' K. He made or stay wonderful. He was very helpful and polite. We would like to thank him again and again for his kindness. The hotel was close to everything. Again our stay was fantastic.
This relatively dingy, run-down hotel has the nerve to charge a mandatory $28+ “resort fee.” Doesn't matter if you actually want access to the (presumably) crummy workout facilities. It's a mandatory fee. More accurately, it is a way to lie about the cost of the room, since you “pay in full” one price when you reserve the room, and then an extra $28 for no reason except pure corporate greed. It's dishonest and exploitive. And the hotel/room itself? Not even worth the advertised price, much less the actual price. Tiny lobby. Slow check-in process. Slow elevators. Dingy hallway. Small, dingy room with no fridge. Definitely not a “resort” despite the ridiculous mandatory “resort” fee. Sometime I stay in cheap, no-frills hotels. Sometimes I stay in expensive, nice hotels with great amenities. But I do my best but to waste my money at expensive, no-frills, run-down hotels.
Service was great, people were friendly, unfortunately the restaurant on site was closed, but several great ones were nearby. Received a free upgrade to a suite. The location was convenient and we enjoyed our stay.
Very dated hotel in good location. All food and beverage outlets are closed though they still charge you a $30 a night “resort fee” on top of room rate. After I complained my room was not cleaned well between guests, housekeeping did a great job but HVAC only worked sporadically and water pressure was poor. No way to use kitchenette - told no utensils available due to restaurant being closed.
We recently stayed at the beacon hotel and corporate quarters in Washington DC. This was singularly one of the worst hotel stays in over 30 years of staying in hotels around the world. The list of issues is expansive, and started before check in. We booked over three weeks out, and as we were flying in after an overnight flight, we requested an early check in at 1pm. The message that we received said they would do their best to help us out. On arrival, the man behind behind the desk was like the soup guy from Seinfeld and insisted that there were no early check ins and that check in was 3pm. We understand that an early check in is not a right, and it wasn't that we couldn't check in, and It wasn't that he wasn't polite, he was just outright rude, dismissive and was equally rude to friends who were also staying. On check in we were also advised that the restaurant is closed, the rooftop bar is closed and there is limited housekeeping due to COVID,. We were the put into a different room, to that which was booked, it was a standard queen, and was tiny. After clarifying they moved us to a deluxe double double, which was roomier, but was tired and old, with a shower that has water, but no water pressure and an air conditioner that was from the Jurassic era. Every day the room cards did not work, and resulted in multiple trips to reception to have them reset. Not once, not even once did anyone at reception acknowledge any issue with the room key system, in fact they used all standard hotel excuses about you must have put it near your phone, your credit cards etc etc. the thing is it was soooo widespread and whenever we would be getting a reset there would be a line of people waiting, it was just unacceptable and avoidable. The MOST annoying thing about this wasn't that it kept happening, it was that the staff didn't have it in them to ack owledge that it was an issue or to apologize, it was always our fault. The 2 lifts in the building are tiny, slow and barely functioning. And finally to checkout, by this point we expected little, and the management didn't let us down. As we were leaving the next morning at 4am in the morning, I went down the evening before, and requested to finalize my account and gain a receipt, so we could just drop keys and go in the morning. I was told this wasn't possible as the cost of the final night didn't click in until midnight, so I requested that the reception representative just process it at midnight and then have a printout that I could collect when I left. The reception representative said that as she was leaving before midnight this couldn't be done and I would have to call down to have this done before I left. In addition the rate on the invoice was more than that quoted, when I showed the reception representative the emails I had received from the hotel, with the hotels email address, she denied that it had come from the hotel, and insisted it was from a third party booking agent. This was the cherry on the very average cake of disappointment that this stay was. I can honestly say that I will NEVER stay in this hotel again, and I would strongly advise that you are better to join the homeless lady at the nearby park, rather than put up with rude, incompetent staff, and unacceptable facilities.
Staff was exceptional. Room was much better than expected. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. The location is perfect to explore D.C. It has a certain old time charm that can't manufactured.
The room was beautiful roomy, loved the couch, bed and pillows were top-notch, and the rain-shower and bathroom could be on an HGTV special! Sad that the restaurant was not open. Service was very satisfactory. Location was excellent.
Large, clean room with great room darkening curtains. Bathroom was on the small side but stocked with necessities which were replenished daily. Housekeeping was great - 5 * Location was great - 5* - close to DuPont Circle walkable to monuments (25 mins or so) Front desk service (from the guy) leaves a lot to be desired... 1* Not very welcoming or friendly or helpful..
Would give 6 out of 5 if I could. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Made the extra effort in every respect. The hotel itself is classy and the rooms are spacious and quiet. Visited DC for the weekend and the location of the hotel could not be better. Minutes walk from the monuments, Independence mall, Dupont Circle and farmers market, endless restaurants. Highly highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed at the Beacon and while the location was great, the promised facilities were not. I brought it to the attention of the front desk that the room fridge was not working, they said they would get this fixed. This did not happen. Then I went the next day to ask if this was looked at and they advised it was. They ended up giving a new fridge but only compensated for a small portion of what I lost with their faulty goods. They promised an additional amount and then when I checked this wasn't included. They lied about compensation and didn't fix what they promised.
This was a trip to Washington DC for a weekend vacation. Very nice stay and clean room. Excellent location ! Accessibility to the monuments and museums. Many local restaurants in close proximity as well as easy access to airport. Would recommend!
Comfortable bed, quiet and spacious room. Friendly upbeat staff. Price was right. We visited Washington D.C. to see our son and girlfriend who were in close proximity not far from DuPont Circle and the many attractions and amenities we enjoyed.
Unfriendly staff, not helpful at front desk or valet, toilet handle broke off, lights didn't work. Not worth the money. We paid for valet and ended up having to get our own car when we checked out. Will never stay here again.
Even though the hotel is advertised as providing WiFi, a gym, and cleaning, they will bill these amenities separately. I called the manager and all he said was that people complain about it a lot. Basically he said go ahead and complain, we're used to it. I did some research on resort fees and basically they are just a scummy way for hotels to make extra money. I wouldn't recommend staying here simply because of this sneaky way of making money off of their clients.
I booked the room thru tickets at work i thought i had a deal at $83 a night . Until i was hit with $60 to park on the side of hotel. then our heat switch on the wall didn't work the temperature was 20degrees that night our bed only had sheets. Checking out we were hit with a $27 resort fee . Only thing good about the Beacon is the LOCATION.
This hotel lies in a fantastic setting. They do not have a pool but they provided two beach chairs in the hotel room that was great for the beach. Rooms are so so and they do not clean rooms everyday. We paid over 300 dollars per night. The breakfast is close to not be sanitary. Bread lies for ours in plastic bins. They seem to have little control their and they use a ticket system so you have to elgive them a ticket. We have given them tickets 2 days in a row and after a couple of minutes they asked us if we had given them tickets. They also asked us to not take food twice. This whole breakfast experience has been really bad. If it wasn't for that I would rate this hotel a three. Note: Hotel management said they are not responsible for breakfast. It is another company. Ok. Fair. However, they are the ones to manage that quality not us as guests.
The location was great for me. Nice restaruants only 3 blocks away and 2 Metro stations onlly 3 blocks the othe way. business area so there were were very few tourists. getting around was easy with two 3 meteo lines. Faragut North has the Red line and accross the street, Faragut West has the Yellow and Blue lines (which gets you herer in 7 stops from the DCA airport.
Was told has restaurant and bar when I booked week prior, but they were all closed. They said I had to pay $45 a day for parking, but parking next door for $15 a day. Complained, but said all agents know the above and tell all customers. That was a boldfaced lie. Did nothing at all regarding complaints. Astronomical rate for average room. DO NOT STAY HERE. Biggest ripoff ever!!!
I am typing this review fresh as I just spent 2 totally sleepless nights at this No tell party hotel. First night, 3 am a couple comes back to their room right beside ours screaming and fighting and slamming doors for HOURS, I called the front desk 3 times and the useless night clerk did nothing.Night #2 the opposite side of my room had a Halloween party start at 11pm. Called the same useless night clerk. Said he came up and heard nothing. Finally at 3 am I went down and had the clerk follow me to the room. After he talked to the partiers they laughed at him and the party cranked up. I finally call the police at 3:30am and 3 squad cars come, yet the night clerk doesn't send them up to the party room and the police leave while the party continued. Unbelievable. It is 7:45 am and I haven't slept in two days and I am writing this from the airport.
My experience with this hotel was very frustrating. I was transferred to a hotel agent when I called to book the stay. I was given incomplete information. I was not told there would be a "facilities fee" of $28+ per night for internet access, access to exercise room and for international calls, even if none of these were accessed. I was told of a valet parking fee but was not told that I would not have access to the garage and no access to my car between 11:00 PM and 6:30 AM due to lack of staff. Had I known about these issues, I would have booked elsewhere. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told that they didn't have my reservation, which I never cancelled, but the staff member was very helpful and, to my relief, found a room. However, the room was very small, there was no refrigerator which was needed to store medication, the bathroom wall paper was peeling and we were unable to set the room temperature. Staff came through and found me a serviceable refrigerator. There was only one working elevator and the overall hotel appearance, despite a supposed renovation, was certainly not one of a premier luxury hotel promised on the hotel web site. I honestly don't know how this hotel received a 4 star rating. The only positive about this stay was the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff who made the stay more bearable. However, due to the inability of management to provide accurate and timely information as well the promised hotel experience, we will not return!
The staff was welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was clean, brightly lit and comfortable. My husband made use of the gym on the premises and was very impressed. When I return today DC I will definitely stay there again.
My family was cautiously optimistic about our first post-pandemic stay(cation). Despite the negative reviews, we had such an enjoyable stay at the Beacon. Right in the middle of D.C. the hotel had well-kept, clean and spacious rooms. The front desk attendant Raul deserves mention. It appeared that the hotel was single-staffed but he made sure that we were taken care of. From check-in to valet service to directing us to where we could get a Dr. Pepper for my youngest son, we couldn't have asked for better customer service. The facility did seem a bit outdated compared to the newer more modern hotels in the area, but you can't replace top-tier customer service like we received at the Beacon.
