Welcome to Best Western Plains Motel! The Minuteman Missile Site is near our Wall motel, but that's just one of the attractions that bring guests to the region. When traveling in South Dakota, visiting Mount Rushmore is nearly a requirement. The Badlands National Park is also nearby, and it's a haven for outdoor lovers, campers, and hikers. Birding is a big pastime, and getting back in touch with Mother Nature is simple here. If you really want to experience the beauty of the region while still enjoying the comforts of home, our Wall motel is the perfect place for you. Wall Drug Store was founded here, and it's an interesting stop for history buffs or those looking for a touch of culture on their trip. However, other guests prefer to just kick back and relax. Our Wall motel has an indoor pool, outdoor pool and hot tub for your comfort. Spend the days soaking in the hot tub, or cool off on those hot summer days with a dip in one of the pools. Our free full breakfast ensures that every day is started on the right note. Enjoy a generous spread of waffles and pastries, a cereal bar and yogurt selection, along with your favorite fruit. Start the morning with endless chilled juices or coffee. If you're here for the Wall Celebration in July, you'll need a hearty breakfast to really enjoy all of the festivities. There's also a golf course nearby, and it's a favorite spot for guests of our Wall motel to work on their swing. We're the only motel in Wall with an indoor pool, for our guests to take advantage. Rodeos and a parade abound in July, and it's fun for the whole family. With free high speed Internet, in-room coffee and an iron and ironing board in each room, our pet-friendly motel is guaranteed to make your stay in South Dakota even better. Reserve your spacious Best Western Plains motel room right now for a great value!

    « Very Nice Hotel »

We stayed here on the way back from Montana and it was a clean, comfortable place and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend it. They have a hot tub and a pool and the breakfast is excellent!

    « Over-priced, average hotel.. »

Over-priced notel with breakfast that was mediocre. Our room had a somewhat funky smell that might have been from the parking lot that seems to have been recently black-topped. The town and Wall Drug are not worth the stop.

    4
    « Friendly & roomy »

The room was quite large & the microwave & fridge were handy. Nice breakfast. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but they looked inviting. Staff were friendly & expressed their desire to assure a good stay.

« Clean rooms, great breakfast »

We stopped at the Best Western in Wall while visiting the Badlands. The room was dated, but very clean. The indoor pool was freezing (which didn't stop our kids from splashing around for a couple hours), the hot tub was perfect. The pool area was clean and nice. The continental breakfast was great! Eggs, sausage, pancakes and more - it was great to have a full breakfast before our day hiking. We would stay here again!

    « Nice rest stop »

We stopped here on our way to Wisconsin and this was a very nice stop. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well maintained with some extra touches that added to the stay. We stayed with dogs and there was a grass area to walk them.

    « plains motel »

I highly recommend staying here to make your trip and access to badlands memorable as the staff on all levels make you feel at home and cared for it makes it easy to enjoy the shops and the sites close by

    « Hotel at Wall »

The location was great, although probablt the best option for the location. The hotel was dark and dated and didn't feel overly clean. The breakfast was goid and had a nice variety. Due to the convient location would probably stay at this location again.

    « Nice but... »

Stayed here for one night to explore the magnificent Badlands NP. Staff very friendly, room clean, recommend upstairs for less noise. Breakfast was a good selection of the usual offerings plus a few extra (French toast, pancakes). The only negative is that the room-to-room noise is considerable, and in our case the TV being turned on at 3:30 am in the room next to ours made for a difficult night's sleep. Not sure how this can be avoided, especially since we requested a quiet room. Overall a pleasant stay, and conveniently located to the Badlands.

« Nice place to stay »

The motel is an o,def property but is well maintained. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast had a lot of variety, more than you usually receive with a complimentary breakfast. This motel is a little different because check in time is 1 p.m.

    « A pleasant place to stay! »

This was our first time staying at this Best Western in Wall, SD. We were pleasently surprised with the quality, cleanliness and comfort we were provided. Breakfast is served in the pool area and there is a good amount of seating space with plenty of options available. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here and will likely choose this hotel again when visiting the area!

    « Perfect. »

The staff was so accommodating, seeing as how we pulled up at 11:00 pm needing a room. They were fast and efficient when it came to putting us in a room and that was much appreciated. Our room seemed to be newly remodeled and was very clean. All the amenities and electronics were in perfect working condition and the bathroom was spotless. They had a pretty good breakfast selection that went above the normal continental breakfast spread. Overall, this was a great hotel and we will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

    « WONDERFUL »

This Best Western was your typical Best Western with the same design, styles, and amenities. Clean, cozy, wonderful motel breakfast, free parking, and friendly staff. Nothing new to add to that. The hotel was about a 8-10 minute drive to the entrance to Badlands National Park. You literally could even walk into the town of Wall where there's plenty of shopping and restaurants. We chose this hotel due to its close proximity to these two locations. Perfect for getting up in the morning and hitting the Badlands before it gets congested with tourists and perfect for grabbing a bite to eat in town after a day of being a tourist. Other than that, there's really nothing else nearby. It's probably an hours drive to Rapid City Regional Airport. Maybe an hour and 45 minutes to Mount Rushmore. If I was ever in the Rapid City area again, I definitely would consider Best Western Plains Motel as a place to stay again providing I would want to see Wall or the Badlands again. Otherwise, it's kind-of far from the more populous area of Rapid City with more things to see and do. The only thing I'd suggest the motel could do to perfect itself is have a better checkout option for those who want to leave early in the morning. There were several couples, including ourselves, that didn't know what to do when waiting for the front desk to open. Some just left their keys inside their room while others waited to be checked out properly all while maintaining their final receipt. We chose the later. Even though it worked out well since the morning sun hadn't crept up the horizon at that hour, it would have been nice being able to sleep in an extra hour knowing the front desk wouldn't be open when we got up.

« Gateway to Badlands National Park »

Wall is the idea location to visit the Badlands National Park. The Wall Best Western Motel is a great place to lodge. The room was clean and came with a frig and microwave. Bed was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good and had many options.

    3
« Nice place to visit »

We have come here every year for the past 5-6. The rooms are ok, but the help is what makes this place so great. We enjoyed breakfast while we were there. The thing that we did not enjoy is the party people that stayed above and beside us. Putting children in upstairs rooms is bad but the adults that toss things stomp around and yell are worse. They shut down half of the rooms forcing all visitors to the front of the hotel which meant each room was full. It has been good but next year may require a change.

    5
    « Good care »

Staff was helpful. They provided local information. Asked for and got a first floor room. Breakfast was very good for a motel breakfast. Motel grounds seemed very clean and neat. I didn't use pool which was in a separate building and it was cold out.

    5
« Great place to stay »

We were very happy with our stay. Room was very nice. We stay with our pet so in some places the rooms are a little rough - but this one was very nice. Breakfast here was really good. Lots of selection including hot eggs and meat. Would gladly stay here again!

    3
« Night outside of the Badlands »

Spent all afternoon in the Badlands National Park and needed a short rest before heading back to the park for sunset views. Hotel was right off the highway and had easy access. Easy access to the interstate made sunset in the Badlands very doable. Walking distance to downtown to Wall Drug and downtown Wall. Nothing special about the hotel. Rooms were clean and neat. Room rate $107.

    5
    « Nice place!!! »

Nice place to stay. Clean rooms great staff wonderful group of people to meet. Breakfast was awesome nice variety of food . Nice places to eat and within walking distance of the hotel. Small town with a big personality.

    « A Good Choice »

Pros: Very Clean Fan in the bathroom....a plus Nice bathroom fixtures Great soap! Water pressure good Water in shower super hot Free Breakfast Plenty of parking Easy to get into town Easy on and off of the freeway Refrigerator was COLD Microwave updated Indoor and outdoor swimming pools Hot Tub Beds comfortable-four pillows, etc. Cons: Decor in our room was dark, so it gave the appearance of being old...but it wasn't Usual highly processed, over salted, powdered breakfast fare.

    3
« Older BW in a Tourist Trap Town »

An older, "remodeled" property, redone with poor workmanship, that is minimally maintained. No elevators, tight parking, and the outside lighting was not working on most of the upper balcony and steep stairways, Front desk personnel sent us to a restaurant for dinner where we waited for 15 minutes and still no one had even greeted us or given us a menu. Other hotel options did not look much better. Our advice would be to go ahead an visit Wall Drugstore but choose a different town to overnight in. For comparison, the older BW in Spearfish, MT was very nice.

    « Small Town Gem »

Who knew Wall, SD would have such nice accommodations? Good location, nicely appointed room, quiet, clean, friendly and well-priced. Breakfast was fun with the pancake machine. It was crowded with families and younger children, which made the morning bustle even noisier and hard to navigate if you're trying to get to what you need. But overall it was a great experience, and the property is obviously cared-for by the owner/family. Thanks for making the stay so comfortable.

    5
    « Super Service »

This Best Western was extremely clean and comfortable. The people at the front desk were very helpful in answering questions we had about the area. The breakfast they served in the morning was a typical hotel breakfast, there were three people in my group and we all found something that we enjoyed. The location of this Best Western is also amazing! its so close to Wall Drug, (a great place to shop).

    4
    « Convenient, Comfortable, Clean »

This was the second time I've stayed here and it's been updated all around since my last visit. Loved that the refrigerator has a separate freezer compartment that actually works. Great for refreezing ice packs for the cooler. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Best reason for returning in the future - great breakfast buffet with lots of extra added touches.

    3
« Comfortable enough for one night »

We had a delux queen room which was clean and comfortable, though the bathroom was tiny. The location is great for Badlands. Breakfast was acceptable. Hotel very busy and quite noisy. But it did the job.

    5
    « Top-Notch Stay »

Best Western in Wall was a most comfortable, pleasant stay. It's worth more than one overnight stay as you drive across country. Beside the famous Wall Drug Store which is right down the street, the area offers so much more. The beautiful Badland National has hiking trails for all abilities and a great scenic drive. The Minuteman Missile sight nearby is very interesting. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the room very clean. Staff was extremly friendly..always with a smile and a good morning. The breakfast was hearty with plenty of hot choices and was kept well stocked even during the busy times. Although the indoor seating area was small, and was too cool for the outdoor seating that is provided. The indoor pool is also a nice feature. A recommended lodging choice.

    5
    « Great Stay »

Nice, clean, comfortable room. Received an upgrade. Gave a military discount. Good breakfast. Excellent staff. Convenient to Interstate. Easy access to Badlands National Park. I would definitely use this hotel again.

    3
    « Just OK »

The room was OK, the area was OK, the breakfast was OK, the location was OK. The problem is, I expected something a bit better than OK for the price we paid. My wife and I stayed in Wall while we were on a 21 day road trip. We stayed in a lot of hotels/motels; this was not one of the better price/value stays.

    4
« A night in the NOT Badlands »

Checked in about 9pm local. Parking lot was almost full and trucks with trailers lined the street. Teresa at the front desk found two rooms for us on the ground level (bad knees and no elevator). She remarked about our accents (an exhusband from Kentucky had schooled her ear) and let us know about the pool, breakfast and where ice was available. When we asked she gave us easy directions to the Badlands Saloon & Grill. The facility is not new but the rooms are updated nicely, spotlessly clean, and decorated with accents appropriate to the area. Bed is comfortable, linens are well laundered, for all that the parking lot now has no empty spaces the place is quiet and feels very safe. I look forward to a good sleep and a convenient breakfast in the morning. Not sure I will ever make it back to Wall South Dakota but if I do next time I will reserve a room. Thank you Best Western Plains Motel!

    « Always stay here!! »

We love the Black Hills and visit frequently. On our way there we always make sure to Stop at Wall and stay in the Best Western Plains motel. For the area the rates are fine and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. Great breakfast and indoor and outdoor pools! Blocks away from Wall Drug which is a great piece of Americana. Highly recommended!!

« Nice place to stay in Wall »

We spent 2 nights here in September 2017. Great location to visit Badlands and great breakfast. Room was clean. We had the room with 2 rooms since there were 2 couples. It was a little small but adequate for us. Would stay there again.

  • 5
    « Clean, inexpensive, nice »

Our visit to this hotel was a short, but very nice experience. The room was clean. There was a sweet heart made out of a towel on our bed! Our room had everything we needed. The hotel is close to Wall Drug, restaurants, bars and gas stations. The breakfast was tasty.

    5
    « Great stay »

Everything about this stay was great. Rooms were clean, showers were hot, and the breakfast was exceptional. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Wall. The pool area was very clean and the pool and hot tub were very enjoyable. It was only a few blocks from Wall Drug and we were able to walk to it.

    3
    « Good for most »

This hotel is good, it's just that I am spoiled to staying at newer and more elaborate hotels, and this was the best hotel in Wall. The employees were friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet and the bed was comfortable. They have good internet connection. They do have a swimming pool. Breakfast is the typical foods but well displayed. My complaints are very worn linens and towels and drab decor of room. I am very sensitive to smells and something in the room bothered my allergies. It could have been room spray. They are pet friendly, so be sure to request a pet free room if you have allergies. They do not have a laundry, but just a block or 2 over, there is a laundry mat that has several machines. We stayed in Wall on our way to Custer because we didn't know how far we would have to drive to find another hotel. We discovered the next day that it was only 51 miles to Rapid City where there were an abundance of newer hotels.

    4
« Comfort in the Plains »

Very comfortable experience in Wall, SD. Ideally located to visit Badlands National Park. Motel style with hotel comfort. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Close to the town of Wall where Wall Drug is located, a quirky western store housing a restaurant, gift shop, western wear shop, and other local plains paraphernalia.

    5
« Wall, SD stay after day in the Badlands »

We were very pleased with the stay at The Best Western in Wall. We arrived late afternoon / evening and were checked in by a very friendly and helpful lady at the front desk. The room for the price alone would have been enough to give this motel a high rating, but in addition we had the best free breakfast we've had at motels in our travels.

    3
    « Good location »

The hotel had a good location, staff was friendly, rooms clean and adequate.....we were satisfied with our roo . The hotel was full but service remained good. They also have breakfast included with your stay.

    5
    « Perfect! »

Easy location to get to, exceptional service, very clean, huge breakfast selection. I stayed here 15 yrs ago. It is obvious the owners take pride in the property. Everything felt very up to date and fresh. Good WiFi, too.

    3
    « Very fine stay. »

We had a very nice room on the 2nd floor. No elevator and I had requested a 1st floor room if no elevator, but that was through Expedia and they couldn't accommodate us. I asked the man at the desk if someone could carry our suitcases upstairs for us and he did so very willingly. Very nice young man. Room was clean and sufficient, no problems whatsoever.

    4
« Customer Service Still Exists »

Special note on bed upon arrival, clean rooms, courteous staff. We were very happy and surprised at the hospitality and charm beyond a normal Best Western Hotel. Flowers in the lobby, etc. This management went the extra mile and we appreciate that.

    4
    « Motorcycle trip »

A good place to stop for the night. The staff is friendly and quite helpful. Rooms a spacious and comfortable. I liked the fact that the next morning, there were towels on our motorcycles to wipe the down with. Best Western is always motorcycle friendly!

  • 5
    « A great experience! »

We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Wall, SD. The motel was well taken care of, plenty of parking, good variety of items on the breakfast bar, fantastic pool/hot tub and within walking distance to everything.

    5
« Great Choice for Staying near the Badlands »

The hotel was very clean, and the employees were very friendly and helpful. When deciding on a place to stay near the Badlands, choose here. The complimentary breakfast was surprisingly amazing. They had plenty of hot food items available.

    4
« Clean and Convenient Stop »

We stayed one night here on our way to Mount Rushmore. It's a typical small town motel but friendly and the room clean. They say it's a continental breakfast but it's more than that. There were hot items like eggs and sausage and warm tortillas. When we arrived in our room a towel Had been rolled into a heart and placed on the bed with a note from housekeeping to enjoy our stay. Nice touch.

    4
« Perfect location for the Badlands »

Our plan to visit the major attractions, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, and the Badlands were accomplished using Wall as a home base. It is even doable to drive to Devil's tower and back through Custer State Park. There are plenty of walking areas around Wall and the Visitors Center is friendly and informative. Of course we had to experience Wall Drugs too! Best Western worked well for us with our terrier although I wish they had a nicer outside pet area.

    4
« They know how to scramble eggs! »

Better than the standard breakfast. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Complimentary treats for my dog. Close enough to Wall Drug to walk. Tiny grass dog park behind the building. Hate those ones that are just rock!

    4
    « Wall best choice »

Good stop on the way to Mount Rushmore. The town of Wall is very small. The Besr Western appeared to be the nicest choice. It was clean and updated. Wall is a good stopping point if you have been driving all day. We started our touring the following morning. Restaurants are extremely limited. Might as well eat at Wall drug.

    5
    « comfortable, reasonable. »

Reasonably priced, clean, convenient to freeway. Room was spacious (we had 2 queen beds), shower had non-slip in tub. Did not have an elevator. I'm 67, in good shape, but would rather take elevator to 2nd floor when hauling luggage. Breakfast had many hot and cold options, biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs yoghurt, and a pancake maker. One night. Definitely would stay here again.

    5
« One night in Wall »

This town was our stopping point after a very long drive from Minneapolis. Wall is a beautiful little town and Best Western couldn't have been nicer. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet and comfortable. We had a good nights sleep and enjoyed a delicious breakfast, then we were off to Keystone, SD

    4
    « I'd stay here again »

This was a nice, updated room, that was simultaneously spacious and a bit cramped. We had a room that contained a queen bed in the main room and two queen beds in a separate bedroom (that had an actual door). The queen bed took up most of the space in the main room, so the only seating (besides the beds) was a tiny table that had two chairs. There was a window in the bedroom, but not the main area. The vanity area was huge (really nice), but the bathroom (containing tub/shower and toilet) was super cramped. We were on the second floor (top floor), and it was really quiet. The breakfast was good. It seemed pretty updated and the beds were comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and quick. I'd stay here again.

    3
« Quality service in decent motel. »

Slightly outdated. Not a lot of options in Wall so I think this is best choice. Pool area was great for grand kids. Breakfast selections were good but breakfast area was small and strained to handled number of guests at motel. One night a tour bus pulled in and created massive over-crowding in breakfast area the next morning. Easy walk to Wall Drug. Food options limited around motel. Rooms small unless you get rooms on South end of Building. (i.e 275 etc)

  • 4
« Good room, good breakfast »

The hotel was clean and tidy. The breakfast was hot and good. The hotel is in town and close to wall drug which is why we stayed there. I would recommend the second floor if footsteps from above bother you however there is no elevator.

    5
    « Best night's sleep »

Beds were incredible! Staff is top-notch! Check in was so easy and front desk staff was very helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. My family and I plan on staying here again on our next trip out West!

    3
    « Outdated »

Room needs updated. Hotel is convenient to interstate but not really within walking distance of tourist sites unless you have no problems walking. The pool area is nice and the breakfast was served in the lobby of the pool house. One of the better breakfasts we had. Really liked the pancake machine.Staff were accommodating.

    4
    « Clean and comfortable »

Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Had mini fridge and microwave. Staff was friendly. No issues for us. I wish they had a price for those of us who don't want to use the pool or eat breakfast though. I just need a room that's clean and comfy.

    3
« Friendly staff but facilities are quite worn and dated »

The front desk staff was efficient and welcoming. Exterior is quite dated. Our room was spacious but had a musty smell and worn furnishings/towels. It was sufficient for a one night stay while traveling.

    5
    « You can see... »

You can see that there is pride of ownership with the BW Plains Motel. Family owned and operated. The staff knew their stuff! You can see that they are well managed and trained, But more than that, they were friendly, helpful, and smiled!

    3
« Good value for money »

A good location to explore the Badlands, just 8 miles away. The room was as expected, basic but clean and comfortable, though a little loud. Thin walls made us hear neighbors' conversations and TV! All personnel we met was very friendly, breakfast good, but the room way too small for all guests, we had trouble finding a table both at 7:30am and 9am. We did not use the outdoor pool but it was available across the main building until 10:00pm.

    4
« Perfect location in Wall »

My family and I stayed here for the night before visiting the Badlands. No issues checking in, the staff was friendly and courteous and my reservation was processed quickly. The room was clean and comfortable.

    4
    « Best in town »

We always stay at this best western when we visit wall.its always clean and comfy and the employees are very welcoming to us...its close to all the excitement so we walk...they have 2 pools and a hot tub..normal quick breakfast provided...i really cant complain about anything...its a great place to stay when ur in the wall area...

    5
« This is the place to stay in Wall, SD! »

What a nice surprise! Everything was perfect in our room -- cleanliness, working order, appearance. We were 2 people in a 2xdouble bed room and the amount of space and furniture was adequate. Microwave, fridge, and A/C unit worked properly (not too noisy). The team running this operation clearly takes pride in all its aspects. This is the motel to choose in Wall, and we will definitely use it next time we visit the area.

  • 5
« Great place to stay »

This Best Western was an excellent place to stay. The staff were exceptional and helpful, beds were very comfortable, pillows so soft and cozy, and breakfast was delicious. The hot tub was just perfect and the indoor pool was relaxing. Did not use the outdoor pool, but, many seemed to be having a great time swimming. Very clean.

    5
« I was tired and this was just the place that I needed. »

I was passing through and looking for a good place to spend the night. I didn't have my Rewards card with me but the clerk found me in the computer and got me a good downstairs room. The room was clean and the people there were friendly, so I will go back if I am in the area again.

    3
« Okay Hotel Benefits from Great Location »

We stayed here for one night after touring the Badlands. The hotel is close to the western entrance/exit to the park, and we returned to the Ben Reifel Visitor Center later in the evening for a stargazing program (for the Perseid Meteor Shower). The hotel is just okay - nothing special, but not terrible. The room was a good size, but the beds were a little hard for my taste, and the pillows are cut-up pieces of foam stuffed into a pillow-case - common for Best Westerns. The kids liked the indoor/outdoor pool and the breakfast was adequate. So not a great hotel, not a terrible hotel, but your choices in the area are pretty limited, and for the price I'd say it's a good value.

    4
    « Can't beat best western »

I always find Best Westerns to be clean and comfortable. We've had good luck on our trips staying there. They have both an indoor outdoor pool. Breakfast was ok need fresh fruit though. Not much to say other than it was clean, comfortable, friendly and I'd go back.

    5
« Best Western Plains Motel, Wall, South Dakota »

Rooms Small but nice, a bit dated but they have a indoor and outdoor pool, we did not use, fenced in, Breakfast area small, some outdoor tables, nice selection of breakfast items. 3-4 block walk to Wall Drug, Do take a walk there, and go through to the back, they have things to take pics on, like stagecoach, Jack-a-lope, Mt. Rushmore, A lot of vintage stuff, lots of places to eat, HD store. Nice place for family, do not miss,

    5
    « Sturgis »

Very happy with this property, great service. Would definitely recommend and stay there again. After riding motor cycles all day the bed was very comfortable and the hot tub was indoors to help soothe the aching muscles.

    5
    « A surprising respite »

Best Western Plains Motel was a surprising quiet, clean, comfortable place to rest our weary heads. The staff was lovely to a person. A little spendy for Wall, SD but once we arrived and were checked in, it was worth it. The bathroom and bath amenities were bare bones but the bed was comfy, the main room decor was pleasant, and it was equipped w/ a microwave and fridge. WiFi was free and it worked (yeah). the location is convenient and it is dog-friendly.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

The staff were friendly and helpful. I felt welcome the moment I walked in the lobby after a long, dusty day on the road. We were on the 2nd floor, which was quiet and more private. The room was very cute with wood ceilings and beams. It made for an enjoyable stay in Wall.

    4
    « Decent hotel »

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Badlands National Park. It seemed to be one of the closer hotels to the park, at about 20 minutes away. Our room was on the first floor. It was clean and ready when we arrived. The hotel is older and (I think) has been renovated. My only complaint with the room was that the carpets seemed to be dingy. My socks were filthy after walking around the room for an hour! The pool was wonderful, as the temps were in the low 100's the days we visited. There is both an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a hot tub. I suspect that that this is one of the nicer hotels in Wall... and there's not a lot to choose from.

Very friendly staff, had to book on the fly and got a great rate for what we needed for a family of 5. Very good breakfast, clean rooms and squishy beds. Definitely would stop again if in South Dakota

    « 2017 Cross-Country Trip »

We've just returned from a 6200-mile cross-country trip. This is our 4th cross-country loop that we've taken since we retired, and on this one we completed our goal of visiting all of the lower 48 states. We stay at hotels as we travel, and we have learned what we expect from a basic hotel room, and have used these expectations to rate the hotel rooms where we have stayed. This hotel was very clean, had new furniture, good wifi, and a nice tub with a slip-proof mat. Even though the temperature outside was over 100 degrees, it was nice and cool inside. One thing took us by surprise - the water was very, very hot. We learned to be careful.

    « Clean Hotel »

There were not many choices in Wall, but this was a good choice. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast. Parking left was a bit tight. Staff was very friendly. When we arrived earlier than anticipated, they said they could check our bags until we could check in. Bag check consisted of an open access room. However, the check in was in a separate building, and you had to go by staff to get to where the bags were placed so it didn't seem to be that big of a problem.

    « Top customer service »

Our AC broke, and we told them that morning. By the time we were back, they had completely replaced the unit. You can see staff working hard, and the owner is out "directing" in the mornings. Friendly bunch and work hard to make the stay positive. The motel is clean and efficient although the rooms were a little small for a family of 4. Breakfast is standard "free hotel" breakfast. It is fine.

    5
    « Great stay »

This hotel gets 5 stars in my book. The rooms are very clean and the hotel grounds very well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and free break fast was really good. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip through.

« Clean friendly mediocre breakfast »

The facilities are clean, staff is attentive and nice, but breakfast is all that fake-ish, cheap egg and breakfast products; stick with toast, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs and it's fine. Everything is quaint but overpriced in Wall.

« Great hotel hidden in the Plains »

For the money and location, couldn't have found a better hotel. It's family operated, and the attention to detail was eveident in every area. We had 2 rooms, both large with 2 queen beds, and they were clean and bright. The housekeeper left a towel folded into a heart in each room along with a welcome note, which was a nice touch. The beds were good, the rooms clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. I travel for work and spend countless nights in hotels, and this experience made me as happy as any other stay in a large city with a higher-end hotel. I was frankly worried that a small town hotel would be more of a "motel" experience (run down, unclean, scary) but this stay changed my perceptions of what a small town hotel can be. Keep up the great work!

    « Wall SD Stay »

This hotel is probably what you would expect in Wall SD but not what I am used to. The rooms are very outdated and old, but comfortable. It's within walking distance of the Wall drug store which is why we stopped for the night.

« When in Wall, SD »

This property was clean and very cared for. The room was great, the pool was a nice size, good size TV, you can walk to all restaurants in town. Breakfast was always good. The Badlands National Park headquarters is 20 miles away. Would stay there again!

« Great place to stay »

Staff was very friendly and helpful especially the gal at the front deskGreat breakfast with awesome coffee. Pools and rooms were clean. Very nice place would recommend it to anyone staying in wall or passing through.

    5
    « Friendly and comfy »

Our family stayed here as a stop on a 2 week road trip. Rooms were nice, as well as very clean. The staff was unbelievably friendly. Loved the personal note and towel shaped like a heart from housekeeping staff. I like that it was family-owned and that they took obvious pride in their business. Breakfast was good, with large selection of items. Only complaint about breakfast was the scrambled eggs.

    « Great Location »

I stayed one night at the BW Plains Motel on my way cross country. I was in Sioux Falls and arrived at 1:30 pm. The room wasn't ready, so we drove a few blocks to see Wall Drugs. Afterward, we checked right in. From the hotel, it's only a 5 minute drive to Badlands National Park. Breakfast was good and the coffe was excellent. I was very satisfied with the stay for the price I paid.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

Close to town, clean rooms, friendly staff. I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Wall. A must see in Wall is the Wall Drug store. This is the place to stay if you want to see The Badlands. Which is a must see too.

    3
« Good location, but really overpriced »

This property is your typical middle of the road Best Western. Location is good if you are visiting Wall Drug and the Badlands. Parking is a challenge. Person who checked us in was not the most pleasant or helpful person I have ever dealt with when giving my money to someone. Who knows, maybe she had just dealt with too many tourists that day... On the flip side, the person we dealt with at check out was very friendly and pleasant. Pricing is definitely set up to take advantage of weary travelers in a giant tourist trap. Room was ok, but beds seem to have been used repeatedly by a heard of mating elephants. Most certainly time to replace the badly sagging mattresses. The pool area was very nice, with both indoor and outdoor pools, including a hot tub and exercise facility. In a town with few options, this facility was OK, but probably not somewhere I would look forward to staying again, and especially not before the mattresses are replaced.

    3
    « No elevator »

As I looked around Wall, it seemed common for hotels to have an open second floor accessed by stairs. However, I didn't expect this of a Best Western. The room decor was '90's style at best, but the lobby had been redecorated in the past year. I guess they are going for first impressions.

    4
    « Very good rooms, breakfast so-so »

The rooms are up to date, comfortable, and clean. The staff is friendly and ready to help. The pool area is nice. The breakfast is ok (eggs tasted horrid but the rest ok). Even though the place looked full it was quite. It is near the freeway and the Badlands so good location. If you are passing through I would recommend.

    5
    « Exceptional »

This is a traditional motel circa 1960's, as in, drive right up to your room's front door. And my wife and I NEVER stay at motels any more. However, the place is immaculate, our room interior--the walls, ceiling (a very nice wood design), carpeting, TV and furnishings--was all new. And tasteful. The beds were comfortable, and there were enough electrical outlets. The Plains Motel is family-owned, and family members were visible everywhere. Better still, their standards are very high. And their free breakfast was a notch above the others' free breakfasts. Given all of this, the Plains Motel is a sweet nostalgic experience without the creature comfort sacrifices usually associated with nostalgic experiences. it's not the Ritz. But then, service and cleanliness rated just as good as any five-star hotel. Loved the place.

    « Great Hotel »

This is our 2nd year staying here during our family vacation. Rooms are very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast even offered some gluten free options which was huge for our family. Upon request the had gluten free cereal, and Glutino bars. The lady in breakfast area was very helpful.

    3
« OK, but Too Expensive »

My wife and I were on vacation in South Dakota. Since we wanted to see the Badlands, we decided to spend the night in Wall South Dakota. Wall does not have very many hotels; therefore, we decided to stay in the Best Western. It was way overpriced for the quality of the hotel. The room was OK, but it was not worth the price. I will stay in Rapid City the next time that I am in the area.

    5
    « Great place »

The personal touch was nice, from rhe note from housekeeping, to the letter from the owners. Breakfast was very good having some items that as not normally on thr menu. Room was clean and comfortable.

    3
« Best hotel for Wall SD »

Not the best hotel overall but from what we could see for Wall, SD there's is the best. Room smelled pretty bad near the AC. Kinda urine-y but probably just stale. The shower was awful though. The water temp fluctuated the whole time. (We didn't report it but should have).

« Nice Roadside Topover - welcoming to Motorcyclists »

Nice, clean, great service. Breakfast was good and fresh. Nice staff. Beds were firmer than we prefer - but worked for one night. In the morning - hand towels were left on the seats of our motorcycles - as were others in the parking lot. It was a nice touch to dry off the previous nights rain. Enjoyed the clientele that were there at breakfast - very family friendly.

    4
    « Little Gem »

We decided to stay here because of the other trip advisor reviews by others. The hotel was only 8 miles from the badlands and was clean, quiet, and had very good breakfast. It had indoor and outdoor pools, which sounded like the kids were really enjoying. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a family run hotel and it looked like they were having and good time while getting their jobs done. The rooms were comfortable and had a fridge and microwave. This is a great base of operations while visiting badlands, custer, and mount rushmore. Best thing, it was about $100 cheaper than the rapid city hotels we checked into.

    3
« Clean rooms, a decent place to sleep »

We used this hotel merely as a place to sleep while we visited the Badlands. The room seemed clean, though the smell was not very pleasant. The continental breakfast wasn't great. We had to park on the street one night due to a full lot. The beds were fairly comfortable, but we could hear ALL the running that took place above us!

    4
    « Very clean »

This hotel was very clean and staff was friendly. They have a nice pool area and hot tub, one of the only hotels with a pool in town I believe. Their continental breakfast had a huge selection of food.

    3
    « Just okay »

Super tired -- like out of the 80's but they charge a high price because you are in Wall. Go figure what the big deal is. Two queen beds. Thin towels. So so carpet. Thin walls. There are no selections any better in this area. Sleep. Pack. Leave.

    4
« Pricey because of the Wall Drugs. »

$160.84 with all the Discounts, and Taxes etc. was Pricey! Tourist Season was coming into full spring with this Over Rated Tourist Town. Not one of the Best we stayed at so far! We always try to use Best Western or Quality Inn if we can depending on the Pricing and the Area we are at. This one here was not one of the Best as I stated!

    3
    « Average Hotel »

This is just an average older hotel. Nothing to brag about. Fairly clean and no problems. Older hotel that has probably been there for quite a while. Can't expect much when not near larger cities. If you like breakfast, probably has better than other hotels in the area since some only had a continental breakfast and this one had hot items available.

    4
    « Great stay!! »

The staff was excellent!!! Very polite and helpful with local attractions and directions. We were in a suite which was huge and had 3 beds. Clean and well maintained. Had an indoor and outdoor pools. Breakfast was good the only bad thing is not much space in the dining area for way too many people.

    3
« Price should be lower for this older Best Western »

This hotel is in need of some TLC, the beds were hard. There is not an elevator, we had to carry our bags up to the 2nd floor - exterior hallway was well worn indoor/outdoor carpeting that was fraying on the edges. The price should be lower for the worn look (inside and out) of the hotel. We did not use either the indoor or outdoor pool so we can't comment on them. The breakfast was good.

    4
    « Clean room/terrible beds! »

The room was clean and spacious. The wifi was fine and breakfast was good. The kids enjoyed the pool, although it did get crowded. The reason this hotel doesn't get 5 stars is because the beds are pretty terrible. We didn't sleep very well at all. The staff was friendly and the location was good.

« Points system is bogus »

While the motel needs to be upgraded and the indoor pool needs to be actually heated, I'm very disappointed in the Best Western rewards program. When we first signed up in 2014 it was touted as "stay 2 nights get 3 nights free." Bogus. Since then we have stayed in a total of at least 12 nights and had exactly 1 night free. The points system is so out of whack and works against you so that it takes tens of thousands of points just to get 1 night free at a run of the mill motel that's not fancy at all. For example, using a points system in another program I can stay at a nicer motel for a fraction of the points that it would take for a night at a Best Western motel. I get way more value out of my credit cards point systems. This is the last summer I stay at Best Western. Adios.

    « Had a ball in Wall! »

The Best Western Plains is an older property that has been thoroughly and completely renovated and remodeled into a first rate comfortable inn. EVERYTHING IS CLEAN! Hard to say honestly these days but BWPlains is clean. Pools, wifi and breakfast rocked. Cool, comfortable and close to everything in Wall. Will definitely be back!

    5
    « Great Badlands/Wall Drug Hotel! »

This was a very pleasant hotel. We stayed for two nights while we explored the Badlands and visited Wall Drug. We will for sure stay here again if we do an out west trip. Breakfast was great and that pancake machine is great! I ate way too many because of it! LOL!! Room was clean and comfortable and our kids very much enjoyed the pool. Can't wait to visit again!

    5
    « Tripping »

Traveling west on motorcycle trip, hotel was a nice stop with good quality for the rate in a very busy town. I would recommend this hotel while you visit Wall. Check-in staff was very nice and informative. I have never had a Check-in clerk offer me the snack or extra points because I was a Harley Davidson member of Best Western rewards!!

    4
« Great location for Badlands »

We stayed two nights here to visit the Badlands and Mt. Rushmore. The hotel is perfectly placed for the Badlands; just a few miles down the road from the hotel is the western entrance to the park, and Mt. Rushmore is about 45 minutes away. The hotel is a bit old-style with the room entrance directly from the parking lot (making it a motel, I guess), but the rooms are up-to-date with flat screen TVs and lots of outlets for charging devices. Nice size rooms, comfortable beds, very little noise from other rooms or parking lot (and there were lots of family groups there), free breakfast and both and indoor and outdoor pool.

    4
« Very Nice Stay / Great Location »

Stayed at the Best Western in Wall for 1 night. Room was clean, staff very friendly and the breakfast was above average for a BW. Great location since it is only a couple of miles down the road from the badlands and you can walk everywhere in Wall. I would stay here again.

« Extremely comfortable ans friendly hotel in Wall, SD »

We were traveling to the Badlands of South Dakota and stayed in Wall. The Best Western was a welcome spot to relax and enjoy a break from travel. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Right after we arrived we noticed we had a problem with the brakes in our car. The staff was helpful and gave excellent recommendations while making our stay comfortable as we worked out details to get repairs made.

    4
« Updated, clean, great staff... »

Pleasant updated room. Well equipped. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Wish there were an onsite washer/dryer so we didn't have to spend time in laundromat. No other recommendations. Recommend while traveling through the area.

« Great Stay in Wall, SD »

We always try to find a Best Western when we travel and this hotel was a pleasant surprise in the little town Wall, SD. Very friendly checkin/checkout staff, clean rooms with comfortable beds. Nice pet area behind the motel. Indoor and outdoor pools with a very nice fitness facility. Trailer parking alongside the street, but very safe. Really good breakfast as well.

« Best deal for badlands stay »

Excellent value, location, free breakfast and indoor/outdoor pool and spa. Family run and were helpful and understanding when our car broke down in the parking lot. Walk to wall drug and restaurants. Room was clean and we'll appointed. Would stay there again.

    « Nice stay »

This hotel was found to be very well appointed with a very large room. The king bed was very comfortable with a nice selection of pillows. Very close proximity to the famous Wall Drug as well as right at one of the gates to the Badlands. Location could not have been more convenient. Very cheery and welcoming staff from the desk clerk to the room maids. Was impressed with the little extra touches placed in the room by the room maids. Those touches are not the norm in the travel industry. Breakfast was very good and plentiful for our tastes. Served in another building so had to go outside to get there. On a nice day not an issue. Would stay there again.

    5
    « Just passing through. »

This Best Western well exceeded my expectations. The lobby was very clean, friendly staff and complimentary popcorn. The rooms are 'motel style' with the doors on the outside. The rooms were very clean. The room we had had a slightly musty smell, maybe a smokers room. The continental breakfast was great. French toast, make your own breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. Something for everybody. I would totally stay here again if going through the area.

    5
    « Friendly staff & nice rooms »

This hotel had some of the friendliest staff of any hotel I've been in. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and had a personal note from the person who cleaned it. My only complaint was a couple families who dominated the indoor pool area and seemed set on breaking as many of the rules as possible (drinking beer in the pool area, children unsupervised, a 3 or 4 year old taking running leaps into the hot tub). But this was not the fault of the staff - just inconsiderate guests.

    5
« Clean, Nice staff- AWESOME! »

If we ever head back through Wall, South Dakota, we will stay here again! We booked our room at the last minute. (The hotel gave us a better price than we could get online!) The double queen room was Big and clean! The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi was FAST! The indoor pool and outdoor pools and hot tub-great! The breakfast eating area was large and comfortable and the variety was huge- eggs, sausage, donuts, toast, coffee, tea, Cocoa, and more! Gluten and dairy free available upon request. TV nice too! No complaints at all. We found out this property is family owned. And it is right behind wall drug! Loved it!

« No frills! No hospitality! »

After spending day in the Badlands, checked in, extremely friendly staff. And that is where the positive comments end! First floor room had an unpleasant odor, needed to spray room, vents and curtains! Quiet night till 4 am when the upstairs guests arrived! Slamming doors, dragging suitcases and heavy walkers, possibly a first floor room for late arrivals? Breakfast staff unfriendly, seemed to be inconvenienced when I asked if there was any more plain oatmeal packages, no fruit choices! The topper was upon returning to room to check out and use bathroom, after first flush, it overflowed! When we stopped at the front desk to check out and inform them of the toilet , I asked if there was a restroom I could use, I was bluntly told to go to pool house! I did and had to wait! Lo and behold I was waiting for the same unfriendly breakfast lady. Not even a smile, nothing! This had been our 5 hotel stop on our 3400 mile road trip of the national parks. Such a bitter end to a wonderful trip!

    5
    « Awesome pillows »

The pillows where nice and fluffy. No flat pillows here. We have been on the road the last seven days and the beds at other hotels have been fine except the pillows have been flat. You put two together and then it was to much. And the breakfast was wonderful and hot. Huge selection to choose from.

    4
« Would stay here again! »

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. My only "complaint" is that the room wasn't super updated. The room was a great size, bed and pillows were very comfortable and pretty clean overall. The breakfast was delicious as well- my only complaint here is that they only had sliced oranges for fruit. Location was great and easy to find. Close to 90 and Badlands National Park!

    5
    « Very Nice »

This hotel is run by a family that has run it over 4 generations. I am happy to give my business to them because I know it's a hard business to be successful in. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, a nice breakfast buffet and the room we stayed in had a nice divider between beds, which gave the parents a little privacy from the kids. . It is very close to the intestate and to the Pinnacles entrance to Badlands National Park.

    5
« Great place to stay in Wall »

On our way to the Badlands and Black Hills we spent the night in Wall. The Best Western was an excellent choice. It is just two blocks from Wall Drugs. We would stay again if travel allowed The only negative was the restaurant they recoommended. It was okay but nothing special. We would have gone downtown or maybe even eaten at Wall Drugs.

    « Customer service & thoughtful diligence! »

I have stayed in some beautiful hotels during my travels, and have to just really give a shout out to the Best Western for all of their thoughtful accommodations. This is a motel right near the Wall drugstore. From the warm reception received when we pulled up to check in, to walking into the room and reading a welcome letter drafted by the family owners, it was one evident gesture after another. (Including a towel sculpture!) As a recent frequent traveler, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the little touches. They were evident throughout the room. There were multiple plug-in receptacle's by the beds, very comfortable mattresses, loaded with several pillows, and the shower was beautifully tiled. It was very evident that extra amenities had been included, and a great deal of thought and effort has been put into this. The room was clean, recently updated, and many modern, decorative touches had been added. There was a nicely appointed breakfast as well. I wish this family the very best, and I will most certainly stay there again in my travels.

    5
« Good Value for the Money »

This is a two story building with room entrances right off the parking lot. No elevator. A really nice motel and good value for the money. We had stayed in several places on a recent trip. This Best Western had a few perks that I loved: 1. Sink outside the rest of the bathroom which made it faster for two people to get ready. 2. Good lighting and LOTS of extra outlets. A plus for us because of medical equipment. 3. A clever heart-shaped towel on the bed with a really sweet hand-written note from the housekeeper. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was included although we did not partake. Very close to Wall Drug if that is something you wish to visit. I would stay here again.

    4
« No frills but best in town »

A standard motel with friendly staff. Hated that there was not a designated smoking area because guests stood outside our door making our room and car reek of smoke. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean so it made up for that. The breakfast was fine. Nothing to write home about. Eat something and then go to Wall Drug for pie for breakfast. The beds were horrible. We described them as a lasagna. The outside rim was crunchy noodle and the inside was soft and mushy.

    4
« Very nice hotel, Great Rooms, don't be fooled »

Ok so this is a motel style place (doors face parking lot, no hallways) with two floors and no elevator, pool and breakfast area are seperate from the hotel. With that out of the way, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby is small and at the time of visit they were remodeling so it was in disarray but not messy. The ouside was clean and presentable. The room was clean, comfortable and the amenities all worked as the should. Water hot/cold, fridge cold internet of good quality, TV had decent selection. Noise was at a minimum. Did not partake or use the breakfast/pool. On the main road close to restaurants and such and if interest blocks from Wall Drug.

    5
    « Great Night sleep. »

This was a off season choice. So many of the hotels were closed for the season. I am super glad that they were open. An awesome friendly helpful staff. The desk had some suggestions for dinner and explained some sites to see. Easy access to the Badlands completed the visit.

« Great Stay, and a Great Value! »

The price here is so much better than Rapid City hotels, and everything about the motel is top-notch. The front-desk and breakfast room staff are friendly and efficient. Our second-floor room was clean, quiet, and updated. The vanity was large and outside the toilet and shower room, which is great for families. Although separate, it's still private because it's behind the partial wall into the bathroom area. The beds were comfortable. There is a big-screen digital TV, a refrigerator (be sure to check to see if it's plugged in), a microwave, a desk, and a medium-size wardrobe closet with hangers. The breakfast area was in the lobby of the pool building, but I think I heard the front-desk person say that was temporary, which would be good as the eating area was tight. The food was pretty good. There were freshly cut orange slices, which was a nice touch. The indoor pool wasn't large but was nice and our teenager enjoyed it, and the area around it was large; in a separate building across the parking lot from the main part of the motel. The outdoor pool wasn't open in March, of course, but it's great the motel has one for winter, and one for summer. There aren't a lot of places to eat in Wall, so be sure to check things out online before coming if you haven't eaten. There is a Subway and a Dairy Queen, and I think a few sit-down restaurants. Thank you to the Best Western Plains Motel for your friendly welcome, your good prices, and a great night's sleep in a clean, quiet room!

« The place to stay in Wall if you want clean rooms and a pool! »

I booked out trip on line through Trip Advisor. we went off season the last week of September and it wasn't busy!! I didn't want to skimp on accommodations and luxury. Yes it's Wall but, it's the best! You pay for what you get and we booked a 2 room suite for us and our 14 year old daughter. She enjoyed her privacy. The staff was very nice and the free breakfast was great. The pool was a nice relaxation after the drive from the cities and don't forget the Jacuzzi. If you go to Wall you definitely need to stay here! Wall Drug is a few blocks away but this hotel was a definite stop coming from the cities for the first leg of our trip.

    5
« Very nice. And I travel for a living »

This motel is very quaint in a very small town. I have stayed in towns all over Canada and the USA. This is the nicest small town motel I have ever stayed at. The price was right Very clean. And best part very quiet. My dogs loved it.

« Everything you want in a Motel »

Let's face it: when you rent a motel room, you are looking for 4 things. 1. Location: This Motel is around the block from Wall Drug and 8 miles from the Badlands entrance. 2. A place to sleep: I recommend this motel's comfy beds. 3. A place to freshen up: Ample towels, soaps and shampoos, and hot water. 4. Complimentary breakfast: A good selection of eggs, sausages, cereals, toast, and yogurt. We were pleased with the spotless condition of the entire property, the indoor pool, and the pleasant, competent staff. All this and pretty good free wifi. This place is a great find.

    5
« Lovely place to stay »

Room was clean and spacious. Free breakfast with alot of choice. Ample parking. Nice personal touches, i.e. handwritten note welcoming us and a letter giving a brief history of the family who run the hotel. Just a generally nice place to stay. No elevator but it's only one flight of stairs to the upper floor, and there are rooms available on the ground floor

After a long day of driving we were happy to reach the hotel. Check in was quick and easy. Room was clean and neat, but the real surprise was the towel design on the bed with a personalized note on the bed! Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was included and has plenty of choices. Don't forget to stop by the giant dinosaur ??

« Quintessential Family Vacation Motel »

This motel has exterior doors on all the rooms, two floors, two pools, and a family ownership proud of its German heritage. Both the staff and guests were pleasant & friendly. Its location is excellent as it is ten or so miles north of Badlands National Park and within walking distance of Wall Drug.

    « Great Stopover »

Wall is itself a lovely town that is well worth a few hours of your time if you are in the area. The Best Western is a pretty standard motel but is well located, is clean and tidy and comfortable to stay in. The pool area is a nice place to chill out after hours on the road. I'd recommend a stay here if in the area.

    « Great Place! »

We stayed here while visiting the Badlands. Everything there was great. The housekeepers left a cute heart shaped towel with a note. The rooms were clean and spacious and the breakfast was the best we had at a motel on the whole trip. They even had a little treasure chest for the kids. Overall a great bargain!

    « Good Overnighter »

We stayed here for one night. The check in process was smooth, the staff were friendly.. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, the shower was good. The only problem was getting on line. It wouldn't get past google for a couple of hours, but was OK the next morning. They said someone will come and have a look in 5 to 10 minutes, but nobody ever showed up. This was why I couldn't give it a 5. We would stay here again if we ever get back out that way again.

    5
    « Nice Place »

We really enjoyed our stay. It was very comfortable with a great breakfast buffet. Reasonably priced. Extras in the rooms. The room was larger than most with a comfy couch and big screen TV. The staff was friendly and helpful.

« Great place to stay if you are staying in Wal SD »

Stayed here on are way back from the badlands. Friendly helpful staff we stayed on the top floor seemed quite enough. The breakfast was great with a lot of seating we would stay here again. Had a little trouble with the wasps that were flying around but other than that we had a great stay.

« Dated, but probably better than most in Wall, SD »

This hotel resembled the old-fashioned motels of yesteryear. It was very basic and antiquated, yet clean. Staff was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The breakfast took us by surprise! It advertised a continental breakfast. Given the appearance of the motel and our room, we had very little expectations. The breakfast exceeded our expectations! It was a very good full breakfast!

    « Highly recommended »

Awesome staff, clean and at a good price we have always hesitated on outside door hotels. The setup of this hotel made you feel secure. Nice breakfast area and grounds. Easy on easy off location with numerous gas stops and convenience stores within walking distance.

    « Very Clean »

We stayed at this motel twice in the last three months. Its location is convenient to the Black Hills and the Badlands. Both times we were pleased with how clean the room was. This family-run business takes pride in both the property and in customer service; the room was quiet, the breakfast included several options, and the staff was friendly. They also accommodated our request for a room in which no pets had stayed (allergies).

    4
« Decent motel in a small town »

Nice clean place that does a good job of covering the necessities. They serve a free breakfast and have an indoor and our door pool. You can walk to the tourist area easily from here. They have cable TV and hbo!

    4
    « Great Location »

If you are looking for a place to stay that is near Mount Rushmore, Wall Drug, or the South Dakota Badlands, this is a good option. The rooms were clean and spacious. There were outdoor corridors and the breakfast nook was in a separate building across the parking lot. We enjoyed going through Wall Drug-so much to see! We also visited Mount Rushmore and the Badlands (spectacular scenery and we also saw a lot of wildlife).

    4
    « Not bad for a motel! »

I give this place a 4/5 b/c most motels are not this nice. The pool was nice, the breakfast was great, and it was clean. There is even a television in the pool area! The staff was friendly and it's family owned. I would recommend it.

    « Well-run family operation »

First time at the BW Plains. Nice to see it was family run. Obviously doing things right because we were overall very pleased with our stay. Spacious room, decent breakfast, easy check in and check out, professional attitude by staff. Comfortable bed, albeit a bit soft for our preference

    « One complaint »

Enjoyed my stay...friendly staff, clean, nice variety for breakfast...only one concern... I was going to enjoy some of your complimentary popcorn, but I watched a staff person reach in with their hand and ate popcorn directly from the machine...gross!

    « We liked it! »

My wife and I spent the night at the Best Western Plains Motel in Wall, South Dakota last week. Check-in was quick; many thanks to Oscar! Linens and towels were fresh. Big screen TV was a plus. Breakfast buffet was outstanding with many choices! Thank you.

    « Pleasant surprise »

This was a pleasant stay. The hotel is immaculate, staff was extremely friendly, breakfast was quite nice, and even the towels were nice. Hotel seems to be updated, and we even retuned there for another night.

« Ok place to stay! »

Nothing remarkable or unremarkable about this place. Seemed clean, breakfast was ok, pool and hot tub were acceptable, nothing to brag about and nothing to complain about. Would stay again if needed. Internet was ok.

« Seven Blocks from Wall Drug »

When one comes to Wall, SD they come to see Wall Drug. This hotel is almost within walking distance, except it was raining. BW Plains is a very large hotel., It's not brand new, but still quite nice. There is lots of free parking, but not always by your room. There are two floors, all rooms have outside entrances, and there is not an elevator. If this is a problem for you, ask for a lower level room. The hostess was accommodating when there was no available room on the lower level and had her maintenance man come and assist us with getting our bags up the outside stairs. We were even provided with a second luggage rack upon request. There are also suite rooms and rooms for the physically challenged. The beds were comfortable, and the room was properly stocked with enough towels and was clean and quiet enough. Safety was not an issue. There is always lots of hot and soft water here, as the water is heated by an underground spring. It tastes pleasant and ice is available if you wish for cold water. Best Western's trademark breakfast is served in the adjoining pool building. It is always good. The room is rather small for the number of people it needed to accommodate. The reception area is small and does not have a public restroom. The staff was nice, but they almost seemed overwhelmed.

    4
« Very convenient for Badlands »

Stayed for one night, due to the proximity to Badlands National Park. Very close to I90, but not noisy. Good room, very good breakfast. We were very satisfied with our stay and would happily stay again, if in the area.

« Ain't no "Best" in this Best Western »

Made a reservation several months before and specifically requested the first floor. Arrived and there are no first floors available. In addition, there are no elevators either. The front desk staff has little knowledge about the town (where is the nearest ATM), much less their checkout procedures. The exterior of the building was clean but if you leave before sunrise be careful because there were absolutely no lights on which is a HUGE safety issue in my book. What I will say is the housekeeping staff was amazing.

    2
    « Mediocre. A disappointment. »

We were surprised how noisy our room was. We could hear our neighbors moving around and speakIng through the walls. Showers and toilets could also be clearly heard on either side of us. Even ringing cell phones could easily be heard (especially at 5 a.m.!). And the bed pillows were the tiniest we've ever seen. On the plus side, the breakfast choices were good (although the plastic cutlery could go), and the popcorn in the reception area was a nice surprise.

    5
« Roomy, clean and comfy »

Very nice hotel, clean, comfy bed, nice hot shower, plenty of room. Breakfast was fine enough. We stayed just one night passing thru after black hills, and we would definitely stay here again if we are in the area

« Badlands and Wall Drug stop over »

We stayed at this hotel on our way to Yellowstone from Illinois. On our way from Mitchell SD, we stopped at Pioneer Auto museum and then we went to see the Minute Man Visitor Center. Next we drove through the Badlands National Park and arrived in Wall about 5pm. We saw Wall Drug and ate dinner there. This hotel was a welcome treat - very nice very clean. Room was a bit small but it was very nice!

    3
« Yes, it's near Badlands National Park »

It was clean. I had requested the first floor since there was no elevator but they did not make note of that and there were no rooms available on the 1st floor. We left very early in the morning and there were no safety lights in the parking lot...... The huge plus: had we not stayed here we wouldn't have gone through the Badlands Loop which was a highlight of the trip.

    4
« Comfortable old time motel »

We had a clean comfortable room. It was not a fancy modern motel, but it had been updated and it was clean. They had more than a continental breakfast. It was very good and a pleasant surprise. We would definitely stay there again.

    4
    « Cean, good value! »

Needed a place to stay on a trip across the high planes, found the Best Western and was happy we did! Very clean, updated room, the only issue was the mattress, we thought it was way way to soft ! Gain, Greg stay good breakfast clean rooms, but the mattress was really too soft for us!

« Nice place to stay if going to Wall Drugs »

Check in went smoothly. Room was clean. Night clerk gave several suggestions for dining places which turned out to be very reasonable.Breakfast in AM was held in the Pool Room and not an adjacent area from Lobby as to which we are accustomed...but it served us and many guests well. Over all, not a bad place to rest for the evening.

    4
    « Good breakfast »

Wasn't sure what to expect in Wall -- it is a pretty small place! Check-in was easy as the gentleman at the desk was very efficient. The room was a bit tired and damp-smelling but had all we needed. The hotel was packed but surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was really good! Overall, met my needs. Thanks!

    4
« Nice place, very clean and friendly staff, tight parking and small bathrooms »

We stopped and chose Best Western based on our satisfaction with the brand. The hotel is older (70s) so the bathrooms are small. However the room was very clean and comfortable. The parking was a little tight for a larger vehicle. The pools and facilities were nice and the staff were top notch. It's a very good Wall option.

    4
    « Comfortable »

Clean, comfortable place to stay. Run by a very conscientious family in regards to customer care. Not the fanciest place, but nice. Good, free bkfst. Great pool for kids. Room was sufficiently large and very clean.

« Nearly excellent, but kinda pricey »

My husband, my brother, and I stayed one night here while spending 3 days in Wall (we were staying at the Sunshine, but they were booked the 3rd night and we didn't want to leave town early). The Best Western was very, very nice. It's only a few blocks over from the main drag. It has both an indoor and outdoor pool (my brother visited the indoor one, really enjoyed it). The room was spacious, the beds comfortable. My husband didn't like the pillows, however; he thought they were too tiny and made it hard to sleep. He also didn't like the bathroom, thinking it too was too small. I loved the fact that it had an exterior vanity i.e., separate from the shower/toilet. Fridge, microwave, wifi, a wonderful breakfast in the morning.... The price, had we not been splitting the cost with my brother, would've been a bit higher than we were comfortable with. All in all, a very good stay before heading west to the Black Hills!

Very Nice motel. Best breakfast. Lots of choices to choose from. I would recommend this motel to my friends. Clean rooms and excellent shower. Nice pool area. Staff was friendly too. Close to attractions.

    « Clean and comfortable »

We stayed here two nights for the our visit to Wall and Badlands National Park. We found the room clean and comfortable, and the location ideal to visit both locations. Breakfast was typical buffet-style, and the staff worked hard to make our stay pleasant.

    4
    « Surprisingly good! »

We were surprised at how nice these rooms were. They did have a little bit of a musty smell, but they were very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was good and had many choices. The pool was very refreshing. They had coffee and popcorn in the lobby...both very good.

    4
« The place to stay in Wall... »

If you like a clean hotel I recommend this place. The breakfast was good, get there early because everyone seems to be up early. The hotel also sits within walking distance of Wall Drug and very near the entrance of the Badlands National Park. The only problem I had, which was minor, was that the walls are a bit thin...bring your earplugs.

    4
« Very clean and quiet »

We stayed there for one night and were very impressed by the clean room - and I have very high standards. The room was also very quiet and the beds very comfortable. Travelling with two young kids, we have certainly checked out our fair share of pools. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were fantastic - probably the cleanest of our whole trip! That's worth something. The breakfast was good.... Nothing spectacular, but adequate. And you can't beat the price! We would certai it stay there again.

« If in Wall SD? »

For a town population of 880 in need of a place to stay, this fits the bill. Very clean rooms nice staff and very good accomodations. The beds were comfortable and not too soft. The breakfast was ok, not great but adequate. The pools and spa were nice. One indoor and one out. Too cold for me outside but indoor was a nice extra.

    4
    « Very clean »

This is an old hotel. But very well taken care of. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. They have an indoor and an outdoor pool. The breakfast buffet was very nice. Would definitely return.

    « Traveling to Yellowstone »

Stayed here numerous times. Loved the location. Great pool. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delish. Good way to start the day. Close to the Famous Wall Drug. Nice walk to the Stores.

« Solid for the price »

We stayed a total of 3 nights during our road trip through the Black Hills. Staff is great ~ super friendly and accommodating, and grateful for our business (something important to me). Rooms are clean with enough space. We always travel with our own pillows and an extra blanket (we rarely use hotel/motel comforters, especially if a poly/synthetic blend due to the chances of those pieces being laundered regularly), which were needed with this motel. Pillows were the smaller squares and poly comforter ~ not bad, just not what we prefer. I didn't see it on the website, but there is a coffee maker in the room. **hairdryer is kept in the dresser under the tv. Took me until our third night to figure that out. Lol. ** Complimentary breakfast consisted of the typical fare with this motel class ~ again, not bad. Probably best for younger kids. There are refrigerators and microwaves in room if you prefer to bring along your own food. We'd definitely stay again. Ps ~ SD does weird things with their gas prices i.e. different $$ for cash/credit, different 87 grade options. I didn't pay attention to all of it and ended up way overspending at one fill up.

    4
« Probably best MOTEL in Wall, but wasn't impressed »

This is a MOTEL, not a Hotel. keep that in mind when booking. Breakfast was good and the rooms were okay. Pretty small but did the job. The hot tub wasn't as clean as we prefer there was dirty water in it. Maybe that was just due to the fact the motel was booked. We also could feel the springs on the edge of mattress in room 268. Everything else met expectations but for the price felt like the facilities could have been better. Very close walking distance to Wall Drug.

    5
« Clean, nice beds, friendly people »

I stayed here for a night with my family on a trip out west. The room was very nice, the beds comfortable and updated, the staff friendly. We took an evening dip in the outdoor pool, it was clean and warm. The breakfast was fine, a little crowded, but the coffee was hot and there was half and half! I'd definitely recommend this motel!

    4
« Great feel in a cool little town »

The Best Western in Wall, SD, a 7-10 minute walk from Wall Drug and many shops and eateries, sits amid several other motels. The others were a little less expensive, but we banked on "really clean and convenient" and we got it. The king room had a tiny but efficient bathroom, while the sink and vanity are in a separate area (we like that - one of us showers while the other does his/her morning hair routine) so we can get a cup of coffee going and shorten our get-ready time. The vanity is granite and beautiful, and there are plenty of towels. Free Breakfast choices were abundant - hot items, cold items, protein, fresh fruit. Seating was scarce, but they are trying to solve the problem by placing some tables outdoors. As the weather was gorgeous, this worked for us. In case of rain or cold, you'd go back to your room to eat what you'd chosen. Staff get around the outdoor hotel on little one-foot scooters! Children seemed happy. Front desk reception was very polite and interested. We would definitely come again.

    « Hotel stay »

Great 4th generation family owned hotel. Stopped to stay after badlands and Wall drug. Very clean rooms with personnel touches. Outdoor heated pool indoor pool and whirlpool. Good breakfast eggs, sausage, French toast and cold cereal. I would recommend for sure.

    5
    « Comfortable and clean »

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was comfortable and clean. Super crowded and busy but since the rooms are entered "motel style" it wasn't claustrophobic. We didn't visit the pool area because of crowding however. The breakfast was hot and delicious. We would stay here again!

« Wall SD Best Western »

Great hotel. Stayed there during Sturgis week, very nice facility, friendly staff, they even put towels on the motorcycles in the morning so the bikers would have a towel to wipe down their bikes. We weren't on a bike, we were moving from Georgia to Washington State, but it was nice to see the level of service they provided. Exceptional.

« Great place to stay »

We were very pleased with our stay at the Best Western Plains Motel. The staff was friendly and genuinely pleased to help you. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast was well done with a variety of healthy choices in addition to the regular Breakfast fare. We had some trouble with our TV and when we called the desk someone was there almost immediately. I was surprised it was only given two diamonds from AAA this deserves at least a four! I would definitely recommend this motel.

    5
    « Best stay »

This was the best hotel of our vacation. Best service,,,,best everything! We had a sick 4 year old who most likely was sick from the heat and sun. The girl who was working went above and beyond to help us. she gave extra towels, pillows and blankets in case we needed them. Gave me all the cleaning supplies that I needed to clean the car seat that she threw up in.

    5
    « Clean, clean, clean »

I was unsure about staying at a Best Western, but we were very happy! Our room had 2 queen beds & a small pull out couch. Plenty of room, the bathroom was a bit small. The beds were made perfectly! We even saw the housekeepung shining the kick plates of the doors. The bathroom fixtures were gleaming. Also, it was a short walk to downtown Wall. The court yard was amazing, and even showed a movie for the youngsters. It was a great stay, even though I was sceptical, I was pleasantly surprised. Only draw back was breakfast coffee was too weak as well as the oj machine.

    3
    « Ok »

First the positive. Great pool house with indoor and outdoor pools and a hot tub. Great for kids after a day in the Badlands. Breakfast was also pretty good, offering a little more than is typical for a hotel free breakfast, like decent donuts and make your own breakfast burritos. The negative was our room. We had a family "suite" - 3 beds. Our room was tucked in the back inside corner behind the stairs and seemed to be a converted store room. Unlike other rooms it had no front window. There was one small window in the back bedroom that looked out at the neighbor's driveway. The room was very dark and musty and seemed clear it was not originally designed to be a room. Being under the stairs also meant lots of noise as people went up and down at night and early in the AM. Proprietor was apologetic and noted that just two rooms are set up his way. So if you are going to stay here, make sure you call and ask to be placed in a room with a window looking outward toward the pool and parking lot.

    4
    « Nice »

There a not many choices in Wall, and the Best Western appeared to be the best one. My kids used the indoor and out door pools. It was clean, staff was very nice, the breakfast was pretty bad but I've had worsen it was quiet, plenty of parking, close to everything. We were there for the Bandlands and while I would never stay in Wall again by choice, if I had to I'd stay here.

    4
    « Very surprised »

We have not stayed at a Best Western for many years but my son made reservations for both of us. The rooms were very clean, it had both indoor and outdoor pools and the breakfast was better than most. The ultimate for me was they left six (6) regular and six (6) decaf coffee packs, wow. Most have 2 each. For early risers needing coffee this was great.

    5
    « Pleasantly surprised! »

We couldn't find a hotel room due to the Sturgis week of fun so "settled" for this hotel. We couldn't believe how fantastic our stay was. The staff was amazingly friendly, the pool was great (both in and out) for the kids and the exercise facility had everything we needed. The breakfast was good too! Our room was clean and included a towel"heart" with a personal message from housekeeping! Above and beyond! We will stay here every time we are in town!

    5
    « very satisfied »

The room was clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast was very good and the location was great. Easy to walk to Wall Drug and downtown area. Great small town atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel highly.

    « Good stay »

Two of us stayed 1 night while visiting the Badlands and en route to Mt. Rushmore. It has probably been more than 10 years since I have stayed in a Best Western and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was renovated, and extremely clean with no odor. The beds were comfortable, a bit on the softer side. A bit of a tight space for two, but nothing more than usual for a motel. Basin was outside the bathroom which is always helpful when multiple people staying in a room. We came back late one night (had gone to the ranger program at the park) and there was just one very tight parking space (I think it was a parking space) left. I guess I could have parked on the street but if I am paying for a motel room I would like to know I have a parking space on the property. The evening front desk staff was helpful but very "focused," there was no extra friendly conversation. I guess I understand: they were very busy. I guess also for the latter reason as well, when I asked for a late check out I was offered an extra 30 minutes. Breakfast with warm and cold options was reasonable, nothing fancy. I do think the cost was a bit expensive but I imagine there is significant demand during the summer months. Overall, a good basic motel with all I generally expect: clean and comfortable.

    3
    « decent location »

This location allowed us to easily tour the Badlands, stop in at Wall Drug late in the day, and then return to the Badlands for a ranger talk about the constellations after dark. Everyone should see the Badlands and imagine the frontiersman that tried to settle that area.

« Wall Drug and Badlands visit »

This was the perfect spot for our one night in Wall. 2 rooms with 2 comfy queen beds, very clean, indoor and outdoor pool and a pretty good free breakfast. When I think of motels, I am immediately scared away but this one was great..Lots of families here...The kids really enjoyed the pool. Definitely a place we would stay again! Thanks for the great stay!

    4
    « 1 Night stop, family trip »

This hotel was a one night stop on our way to Mt. Rushmore. We stayed in a "family suite" which had 2 separate rooms with 3 queen beds. It looks to be recently updated. It was very clean. Easy location. Subway across the street which was quick and easy for us. Wall Drug is just a couple blocks away, you could easily walk there. Free WIFI. Good showers. Continental breakfast including hot food, good coffee. Indoor and small outdoor pool. Perfect for us to stop and rest before continuing on the next day

« The Best In Wall »

I have stayed in this motel several times in our trips out west and it never disappoints, in fact, the place gets better and better. The rooms are large and well appointed. The pool areas are nice as well. The free breakfast is top notch. This motel is the first one to fill up during tourist season so get your reservation in early. I was talking to one of the staffers and he said they house and feed 350 people each night and then turn it around do it again the next day. Very few people stay more than one night in Wall so the housekeeping staff really earn their money. This is a very well run motel and I will keep staying their as long as I keep traveling down I-90.

    4
« Good hotel in Wall »

Rooms are clean and staff is nice. This BW is a basic hotel with breakfast until 9 and a pool. It's right off I-90 and only 10 mins from the west entrance to the Badlands, a perfect staging area for a park visit or a good place to stay outside Rapid City heading East after a long day at Rushmore, etc.

    5
    « Great value / clean location »

This is the second time we have stayed here and find it to be a great value as compared to hotels in Rapid City. It is very clean and everyone is very friendly. The kids enjoy the pools (one inside and one outside). THe breakfast is good and although it was busy, there was staff there restocking items all of the time.

    5
« Second stay after three years away only confirmed its quality »

When we began planning another cross-country trip, we knew we had to return to this hotel. It's close to the Badlands and Wall Drug (should you be so inclined). But, the memories we had of the family-run hotel - great staff, good breakfast, good sleep - were really what made us stop here again instead of seeking another hotel. That entailed a bit of sleuthing, as I wasn't sure of the exact place we'd stayed. But, it was worth the extra time to search it out.

    4
    « Great experience!! »

My family and I stopped here on our way to Mount Rushmore, and we were not disappointed! We were greeted by friendly faces and a helpful staff. The hotel itself was recently updated and the room was clean and fit the four of us comfortably(we had the family suite). There aren't any elevators to get to the second level but it wasn't a lot of stairs. The only problem we had was the air conditioning ( if turned above 70 degrees) gave off an odd odor, but it was a minor inconvenience for an excellent stay. Breakfast in the morning had a good variety; eggs, sausage, cereals, yogurt and granola, French toast, fruits, juices and great coffee. Wifi, good and clean shower, and a subway/ gas station across the street. Also walking distance from wall drug store!!! Thanks for a great stay, Best Western!

« Best Best Western Ever »

Highly recommend this hotel to stay in. Extremely clean, employees are courteous and helpful, walking distance to Wall Drug. Easy access off/on interstate. We stay every year and won't stay anywhere else in Wall, SD

    « Didn't want to leave. »

We drive straight into the Hills, but on this trip we had occasion to seek lodging in Wall, SD. What a delight! I almost wanted to stay in Wall and not move on to the Black Hills. Beautiful pool facilities, friendliest people, and parking at the door (a favorite of mine). Since we couldn't stay longer, we stayed over again on the way home. Would love to make Best Western Plains a part of our yearly trips!

    4
« Very clean, quiet, and updated »

Stayed at this Hotel our last three visits. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and updated, and the Hotel itself is quiet and comfortable. If I had only one complaint, it would be wi-fi. Not the greatest. But, we didn't come here for that so, no biggie. Will come again!

« Great location after day long trip thru Badlands »

We were SO glad we chose this place after riding thru the Badlands National Park on a 107 degree day! Was able to check-in at 2p.m. (almost unheard of these days) and took advantage of BOTH indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Room was HUGE and had a very southwestern feel.Very comfortable and location was great. Within walking distance to Wall Drug and all the fun shops, restaurants and bars. Perfect in every way! Ready to go back--best stay of our week long vacation.

    4
    « Always a great stop »

Stayed here many years ago on our way out west, and wanted the kids to experience it on our way back east. Lots of upgrades and renovations since our last stay. Love that is has an indoor AND outdoor pool! Fitness room is sadly lacking though, with just a couple of cardio machines, only. Room was spacious and clean. Even a little personalized note welcoming us on our stay. Layout of the room a little strange, with the TV not able to be viewed by one of the beds, but didn't matter anyway, as everyone was way too tired after a long day of driving and a great swim in the outdoor pool. It is a convenient 2 block walk from Wall Drug, which is always a must-see attraction in Wall. Also, just a few minute drive to the entrance of the Badlands National Park. Can't go wrong with a Best Western, and this is a great location. Will definitely stay here agin is we are ever in the area again.

    « Nice facility »

Older but well maintained. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Food was fresh and eggs tasted 'real'. No laundry facilities.... Disappointing. No hairdryer; Fortunately I travel with one. Nice pool area. Staff was friendly.

« Great family owned hotel »

We stayed here after arriving late from a flight into Rapid City. Staff extremely friendly and works hard to keep their property looking great. Older hotel with nice renovations. Comfortable, clean...just what we needed. Breakfast was standard fare but hot and tasty. Would stay here again. It is expensive for what you get but hey, it is high travel season so it's par for the course. Great location for Minuteman Missile site and Badlands.

« Stay in Wall, South Dakota »

Very nice after TV was fixed. Would be better if breakfast items were organized in an orderly fashion. Otherwise it was a good overnight stay. Very comfortable beds, no noise problem and nice employees.

    « Great Family Suite!! »

I really liked this hotel. They had the family friendly atmosphere and liked the personal touch in the room of a handwritten note from the person who cleaned the room and a nice letter introducing the family who owned the motel and how long it had been in the family. The Family Suite was awesome! It has one bed in one room and the bathroom area in between and then another room with 2 beds. Also loved the dining and swimming area. Nice big building plenty of room. It was a great place to stay and easy to find after coming out of the Badlands. The staff was very friendly and sincere.

« Exellent Family Stay on the Road »

Indoor and outdoor pools, continental breakfast and laundry in building close to lobby were all very convenient. Helpful staff checked us in late (with a reservation) while kids were sleeping in the car. 3-queen room perfect for four kids and ourselves. AC worked great with temps near 90 degrees. Current décor, updated plumbing, and coffee in room was just what we needed after a long day on the road seeing Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Went to Wall Drug and Badlands next day, more to see and do there than we thought. Great family vacation!

    « near badlands. »

spent 2 nights there to facilitate a trip to minuteman missile silo, where you need to be there by 8 to get tix. the motel was OK and pretty much as advertised and as good as anything in town. walking distance to dinner and wall drug. quarter mile off highway. beds were comfortable. air conditioning was excellent. breakfast in am provided. + pools. shower was fine. people were great. (family owned and managed) only issue is woke up both mornings with bug bites that hadn't been present on going to bed. front desk suggested chiggers, but we hadn't done anything that would have subjected us to those. with such a transient clientele ( i think we are the only people from night one who stayed a 2nd night based on parking lot) i can't believe they don't often have issues with things like bed bugs, but the pest control guy pulled in the parking lot as we were packing up, and i always assume that that is a risk of traveling in a high turnover destination that draws people from all over, so will treat the laundry appropriately on return home, and put it behind me.

« Good place to stay. »

Stayed in the large suite due to size of our group. We liked that one of the beds was in a separate room from the other 2 beds. We liked the indoor and outdoor pool, although it opened kind of late. The housekeeping staff was FANTASTIC! Continental breakfast was mediocre compared to some of the other ones we've had, but was sufficient. We would stay here again.

Wasn't super excited about any of the choices to stay at in Wall. Our first pick was full, so we ended up here. Pros-the size of room and three queen beds was great for our size of family. It's nice to not have to get two rooms. The AC kept the rooms cool and it was hot outside! (July 4th weekend) Cons-didn't feel super clean, and was kind of run down feeling (still use the gross bedspreads), but I assume that kind of wear and tear will happen when there aren't very many hotels to choose from in a prime tourist spot. The AC put out a mildew smell. This hotel was fine to sleep in for just one night, but definitely would not be my first choice! Time for a remodel!

    « Good Night's Rest »

We spent our first night here on out week's trip out to South Dakota. The check in process was smooth, the staff were friendly, and our rooms were what we requested. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, water pressure in the shower was good. We would stay here again if we ever get back out that way again.

« An okay place to stay »

Not a lot of quality options in this town. This was probably the best. Rooms were ok but they do have rooms that sleep five for those of you with three kids. Has indoor and outdoor pool and complimentary breakfast. It is a motel. Doors open to the outside. Rooms had a foul odor and beds were hard, but room was adequate for a night and within walking distance of Wall Drug.

    « Everything we needed!! »

We got into Wall South Dakota after a long day of traveling. The hotel was so nice! The rooms were decorated nicely, the front desk staff was friendly, and the pool was a welcome sight! The breakfast was a nice perk, so we could hit the road in the morning and drive to the Badlands! Front desk staff helped me navigate the map of the Badlands. That was super helpful! I would most definitely stay here again!

« Overpriced very ordinary hotel »

If we had paid $80- for this room instead of more than double that amount, it would have been fine. It is very overpriced for what it is; just an ordinary room in an ordinary place with a bad breakfast

    3
« Nice place to stay »

I have to hand it to the BW in Wall. In a town with so few hotel options, it would be easy for the BW to fall into disrepair and hide behind the brand since there is nothing better in the town (look at the parking lots at 7 pm--all are empty, BW is full). We stayed here about 6 years ago and it was decent. I was pleased to hit it up again this year and find that all the standard upgrades done on other BW's had also been done in Wall. Rooms were really nice, with triple sheeting on the beds, nice furniture, nice carpet. Showers were really hot, almost uncontrollably so. The pool was cold, it happened to be only about 68 degrees the night we were swimming so on top of the cold water, the fact that you had to walk outside after swimming was a con for sure. We skipped breakfast, so no idea on that one.

    « Great hotel »

We had a great time at Wall, SD and had a very comfortable stay at the Best Western. We will definitely return to this hotel. Rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. The staff was very kind. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool but it looked very well kept and clean. Breakfast was typical but looked clean around the area.

« Black Hills area gem »

We decided to stop here rather than go into the Rapid City area for several reasons, but we were glad we did. Comfortable room, accommodating staff, easy on and off freeway. Just 2 blocks from Wall Drug. We were early for the "season" so no heavy crowds.

« Very nice place to stay »

The people that run this hotel are the nicest people you could ever meet. The hotel is spotless inside and outside. We will stay here again if we are ever up this way again. They left towels on our motorcycle seat the following morning so I could wipe the dew off our seats! Great place to stay!

We stay there after a heavy Day in the Badlands. The Room was clean and the size was Big. They have also a indoor and an outdoor Pool. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast has many different things to eat. But the place for Breakfast is a little small. I reccomend it and will come again.

    « A newer hotel »

We have stayed at many Best Western hotels across the US, this was a very nice one. It is PET FRIENDLY, which is why we chose it. The Pet fee is $20.00. A bit more than we're accustomed to being charged. There was a nice pet designated area which was nice and had poopy bags available. We always have our own, a nice convenience. The beds were comfy, towels nice, quiet room. This hotel has a pool which was being enjoyed by many.

    5
    « Nice motel »

Older motel that has been nicely renovated. Large, very clean rooms with comfortable beds and lots of electrical outlets. Our double queen room also had a table with two chairs and would be prefect for a family. Nice pool area and great Wi-Fi. Walking distance to everything in Wall (including Wall Drug). Breakfast room is small and just OK. It's part of the indoor pool area, which when kids are in the pool, can be a little noisy. Conveniently located near the entrance to Badlands National Park and 20 minutes away from the Minute Man Missile Museum.

    5
« Excellent in all ways! »

It was a very clean, quiet room. We had no issues at all.I would recommend this motel to anyone going to Wall. I also will keep in mind this motel for future staysl We travel through that area qiute oftn.

    4
    « Very convenient! »

We love the Badlands, and this hotel is perfect for being close by. The room was clean, very firm beds, a well stocked breakfast, a pool (we did not use, but very popular) and really nice people! It was in walking distance of restaurants and the famous Wall Drug. The only negative were the towels; they were very thin, but they still worked just fine. When we come back, we will probably stay here again.

    3
    « Not that great. »

We stayed at this hotel with our teenage grandchildren. The room had two queen beds & a pullout couch. After dinner when we were tired and ready for bed we pulled out the couch & were not happy. The mattress was stained & had a couple of dead bugs on it. Since we were tired, we did not ask for another room.... But we did not use the pullout. The woman at the desk seemed concerned when I told her about it at checkout, but she didn't offer any discount off the price.

We arrived after a 14 hour drive from southern Indiana to wall S.D. on the way to The black hills.I was wore out and ready for a relaxing evening. The Best western plains motel provided that and much more.Very clean room, spacious, and comfortable beds. The service desk personel were very polite and efficient.Could not ask for a better stay.On our trip we stayed in 10 motels/hotels and this one was at the top of the list.We were within walking distance of Wall drug and that was convienient. They have an outdoor and an indoor pool ,both were excellent....

    « clean and comfortable »

Very nice property. Very clean rooms, hard working staff. Enjoyed the breakfast bar but think they need a person cleaning off the tables there. Thought it was nice the cleaning staff left a note saying "enjoy your stay". The staff seemed very friendly. The beds were comfortable.

    4
    « Really nice place! »

There are not a lot of hotels/motels in Wall, but I would guess this is probably the nicest one. It is just a few blocks from Wall Drug and only seven miles from the entrance to the Badlands. It must have recently been updated as our room was up to date, fresh and extremely clean. Our room was also huge! The breakfast was good but located in a separate building, which might have been an issue if the weather had been bad! My only negative is that the price seemed to be high as it was $50 higher than any other place we stayed during our vacation. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

  • 4
« Old fashioned "motel" but excellent in every way! »

This BW is what used to be called a motel (no hallways just enter the room from the exterior). Despite that, this was an excellent place to stay! Room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. We were not bothered by exterior noise at all. Convenient to highway and convenient to the famous Wall Drug (definitely walking distance).

« Good Place to Stay in Wall »

Wife, grandchildren and I spent two nights at this motel approximately 50 miles from Rapid City. We decided to stay in Wall as the cost of motels was less than staying in Rapid. Hotel was clean and had an inside and outside pool for the grandkids. That is why we chose this motel. We met and talked to a 65 year old handyman within the first half hour of arriving who was very pleasant. The next day, he helped us with our room key which apparently had not been activated for the second day. No problem as he let us in our room and had the room keys updated within minutes. The breakfast provided hot items as well as cereal and fruit.

    5
« Great place to stay »

The front desk hotel staff were great. They gave us accurate and helpful advice on what to do and see in the area, and the order in which to do them. It was great. Rooms were clean and quiet. Pool was great for children and the breakfast had many choices including hot food.

« Well maintained family business... »

We arrived late in the evening, simply to get some shut-eye from our long day of travel. We had reservations for the family room (not sure of the exact name) and it was exactly what we needed. There was a large room with TV, table, and two-beds. There was also a seperate attached smaller room with its own bed and TV. Everything was well stocked and EXTREMELY clean! I was quite impressed, because I'm annoyingly picky when it comes to cleanliness---just ask my family :-) The continental breakfast has a wonderful selection and was just what we needed to quickly get back on the road in the morning. This is a quaint and well-kept family business.

    5
« Very clean, very friendly and wonderful pool! »

My children and I stayed for 2 nights. The rooms are very clean and provided ample room. There is both an indoor and outdoor pool. My kids LOVED swimming in the pool and just lounging. Everyone from the hotel front desk to the maids and breakfast staff was very friendly. A nice collection of books about the Black Hills area is offered for sale in the hotel lobby - great resources as you journey to Mount Rushmore, especially the Mount Rushmore for Kids DVD which gives a fact about the monument for every letter of the alphabet. Perfect for kids to watch on the drive from Wall to Keystone and Mount Rushmore.

    « Best beds »

The hotel is one of the more expensive in the area, the the beds are amazing. Overall good stay. We got a nice suite. The hotel was sold out, so parking was just about impossible. I ended up making my own parking space.

« We would stay here again! »

One of the nicest Best Westerns I've stayed in. The motel is an older style motel but has been kept up really nicely. Rooms appear to have been recently updated with newer finishes, and everything was very clean. There was a fridge in the room and I believe a microwave also. Large property (lots of rooms) but it did not feel crowded, nor was there a lot of noise during the night. The beds were comfortable though the pillows were pretty small. Water pressure was variable, but there was a sign in the hotel explaining why. Both times we went into the office, staff went out of their way to be friendly. Several staff greeted us when we were getting ice and/or loading our car too - just very nice people. The office had snacks and postcards, nice sitting area, etc. When I book motels, I always request extra pillows. I use them along the sides of my daughter's bed because she otherwise tends to roll out. Rarely is this request granted - I usually have to go down to the lobby and ask for the pillows regardless. This motel did grant my request (or else, they provide a lot of pillows by default) -- anyway: I really appreciated all the pillows!! They also had a towel folded into a cute shape, mints, and a letter from the owners on the bed. All very nice and unexpected touches. We did not take advantage of the breakfast because we simply had to go down to the Wall restaurant for donuts. We did swim in the pools - they have an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, and a hot tub. The pool area was nice and well kept. Not too crowded either. We enjoyed our pre-bed swim! I think there was something "off" with the pool chemicals though - we had burning, bloodshot eyes the next morning. As frequent swimmers, this never happens. So they may want to look in to testing the water. I definitely would stay here again and would recommend it to my friends. (I probably would not take a swim next time though -- or at least not get my face wet!)

    « Recommend highly »

In a town congested with tourists, this was a refreshing respite. Room was clean, quiet, nicely air-conditioned on an extremely hot day, and the air quality was excellent (no "motel" smell). Also a real ceramic bathtub, not common these days. Staff was welcoming and helpful. They obviously took pride in their hotel and being a family-run operation. Recommended!

    3
« The staff is very helpful, but experience was disappointing after all the positive reviews »

We stayed here for one night while visiting Badlands National Park Area. The person who checked us in was very helpful. The room was somewhat dark. The mattress was not firm, the pillows were very small, and the linens seemed thin and worn. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked fine. The breakfast was only fair; the tortillas for the tacos were extremely hard and the eggs tasted like powdered eggs and were cold. At least the AC in the room worked fine because it was an extremely hot day. The town of Wall itself is somewhat depressing. If I had to do it over, I would have kept my hotel in Rapid City, gotten up very early in the morning, and made Badlands a day trip from RC. The motel is probably the nicest of the properties in this small town, but it is average at best.

    « Exceptionally Well-Run Brand Property »

This hotel has been family run since 1973. The care to every detail from the front desk experience through checkout is seamless and pleasant. I happened to talk to a maintenance employee in the morning and he, having worked their 30 years, was still singing its praises. This property has a pool, full breakfast, and great Wi-Fi. It's right at the junction for the scenic drive into the Badlands so it's a great waypoint on a South Dakota vacation.

    5
    « Comfortable »

This motel is an older style, but they have done a great job in keeping it updated. The room was very comfortable and clean! The bed was just perfect for a good night sleep. Unfortunately, during the second night, there was a severe thunderstorm warning and lots and lots of rain and wind. Needless to say, the town lost power! It was out about 2 hours. We just called it an early evening! They offer breakfast in the pool room and there were enough items offered, to keep most everyone happy. The motel is in a perfect location, close to the freeway, the infamous Wall Drugs and the Badlands National Park. If we travel back this direction again, we would definitely return to this motel.

    5
    « Great Stay »

This is a super quiet place to stay! Even though they were full both nights, we heard no one. We got there at midnight, but had called ahead. They left the key and specific instructions to accommodate us.

    3
    « Convenient location »

It was a nice enough room, can't complain about anything except the room was on the small side. A really good breakfast, eggs, sausage, breakfast burritos, cereal, english muffins, fresh fruit, and the usual drinks, juice, milk, coffee and tea. They also have an outdoor and indoor pool. Slept well, had a great start in the morning, feeling full and well rested.

    5
« Normally don't like motels but this was fantastic! »

Traveling with two little kids and was our first time through the area. The front desk was very helpful and got us a great rate and a room on the first floor. Room was clean, beds were comfy, and shower was hot. We didn't have time to utilize either the indoor or outdoor pools (but it was close by and looked nice) or the breakfast. Would definitely stay again!

    5
« Nice decent priced hotel »

Right outside of the badlands. We were able to tour the badlands in the evening, get some dinner and ice cream at Dairy Queen and settle in to a nice clean motel room for a good nights sleep. Decent breakfast and coffee. Would stay again if passing through.

    5
    « Best Best Western »

Far and away the best Best Western that we have ever stayed in. The breakfast buffet was better than you would pay $10-$15 in a restaurant. The ownership and staff CARE, paying attention to even the smallest detail

    « Very Disappointing Experience »

My wife and I planned a trip to Badlands National Park near Wall, SD, following a wedding in Omaha. We booked this Best Western in Wall, based on our experience with Best Western in the past. It turned out to be a very disappointing stay for us, and we actually left before we had originally planned. The bed was not comfortable, pillows were postage stamp sized and lumpy, the shower temperature was extremely changeable, and the breakfast was below par. We had expected far more. In addition, and this is not Best Western's fault, the town of Wall left a great deal to be desired in terms of dining. The only positive is that personnel at the motel were helpful and pleasant to deal with.

    4
    « A good small town motel. »

This is a nice, refurbished motel. The updates are good but it retains the feel of an older style motel. It's a good combination. It's within walking distance of Wall Drug and the local restaurants, and sits on the road to Badlands NP. The value was good and the staff friendly and helpful. My only quibble was that the breakfast room was uncomfortably warm and muggy.

    4
    « Very Nice »

We were here with our dog and the experience was very good. The staff was wonderful. The room was clean. Because it is an older motel the bathroom was cramped. The towels were a bit thin. However, it was a vey acceptable stay. The bed was very good and everything was done well. The breakfast was good. We would definitely stay there again.

    « Amazing staff »

We were traveling across country from Utah to WI when we hit a deer and totaled our truck just as we were passing Wall, SD on the freeway. We were luckily all ok and able to drive the truck to the nearest gas station. We needed a last minute room on a Saturday night with a dog, and since the Best Western had the best reviews we started there. The front desk staff was immediately so kind and ready to do whatever they could to help us. There was only one room left, and it was a bit unusual as it was once an apartment converted into a double queen. It consisted of two bedrooms, each housing a queen bed, and a bathroom. It fit our needs perfectly. It was older with no frills, but well maintained and very clean. We weren't sure what our next step was, but it turned out that we needed to stay in Wall until 4 pm the next day until family could make it to pick us up. With checkout being much earlier, we weren't sure what we would do in the heat with a child and a dog with no where to go for several hours. I went and talked to the front desk about our predicament to see if we could get a REALLY late checkout. The front desk attendant very kindly said we could stay for a few extra hours, but that they would need time to clean the room before the check-in time for that day. However, we would be welcome to swim in the pool. We weren't sure what we would do with our dog. But, then, as we were packing up all of our stuff and trying to figure out what we would do, the manager sought us out and said that we could have the room for as long as we needed that day!! It was such a HUGE blessing. Our dog was able to sleep in the cool, safe room while we explored the town and swam, turning a very stressful situation into a fun day despite it all. The staff at this motel saved us. My faith in humanity is restored. They cared, they empathized, they did everything they could to make our unexpected stay in Wall, SD as safe and as enjoyable as possible. Next time we come through this way, we will always stay here, and we will always remember the kindness we received and hopefully pay it forward somehow.

    5
    « Never a disappointment »

We've stayed at this property both going and returning from several trips to Yellowstone and have always been pleasantly surprised with the level of service and value we've had. We generally stay at Best Westerns when we travel but this is one of our favorites!

    5
« Should be rated much higher than it is »

Wonderful stay, great location to the Badlands, Minute Man site, and Wall tourist town. It's a family run business and you could tell the family takes pride in it. Rooms are standard, but very clean. The property is well maintained and we enjoyed the beautiful pool during our stay along with the free breakfast. Family members are checking on things all the time and this hotel should be rated higher than some other Best Westerns than currently have the same rating. As we were leaving, the younger generation (teenagers) were already at work cleaning our room. Never seen such attention to detail and pride in a property. Would definitely stay here again or recommend to others.

    4
« Nice but different than advertised »

We booked the family suite that advertised 2 bedrooms/3 queen beds with a bath in the middle for added privacy. The bathroom was not between the rooms but in the corner of the larger room. Also, there were 2 queen beds in the main room and a double bed in the smaller room. No windows in the small room. The room was clean and sufficient but not as much privacy as we would have like as we were traveling with our two adult children. Next time we'll just go with 2 rooms.

    5
« Best Western in Badlands »

We loved staying in this hotel. It was family run, very comfortable. The rooms were decorated nicely in a western theme. The breakfast was very good. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay in Wall, SD for visiting the Badlands area.

    « Overnight stop »

We visited the Badlands, stayed here that evening. Room was clean, accommodated five of us, having a pull out bed for our youngest. Her mattress was just ok very thin and she felt springs. Otherwise nice staff, nice size rooms. Pool was crowded but hotel has no control of that. Great location for Badlands and Wall Drugs.

« Overnight Visit in Wall, SD »

We stopped in Wall as we wanted to visit the Badlands and as there were not many hotel options, we chose the Best Western. We couldn't have been more pleased. We were met at the front desk by one of the friendliest people and everyone we encountered was just as pleasant. We chatted with her and she told us that this was a family run hotel and that they do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. So true. They originally had us on the 2nd floor; however, we had a handicapped person with us who would have trouble with steps and she immediately changed us to a first floor room. The room was clean, comfortable and very cozy. We used the hot tub which we found to be a great end to our long trip and was so relaxing. The breakfast was far better than your standard hotel breakfast buffet and set up in a separate building which was great. Couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.

« Overnight stay in Wahl, SD »

I have never been met at a front desk by a friendlier person. She was so friendly and welcoming. Apparently this lady is the front desk manager and we also saw her the next morning overseeing the breakfast. I was hesitant as I usually don't like motels because of the outside door, especially on the first floor but I was pleased with our room & stay. The room was very clean and updated. We never heard anything during the night as I had expected. No noise at all fronm the parking lot.

We stayed here for the convenience- about 10 miles from the Badlands and a visit to Wall Drug. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. There is a nice pool and hot tub for relaxing. Of the several other hotels we saw in the area, we were glad we chose this one.

« Visit to Wall, SD »

We were on a cross country trip and needed to stay near Mt. Rushmore. We also heard about the Wall Drug Store as a must see. So glad we stayed here. The beds are extremely comfortable!!! The bathroom had a terrific shower/bath as well. We awoke very well rested. The outside looks like your standard hotel/motel but the room was very well appointed. You could easily spend an entire day at Wall Drug. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices. WARNING! They advertise 5 cent coffee but they charge $1.50 for a donut! Good donut but recommend you get the sticky bun instead. By the way...the breakfast at the BW was okay...nice breakfast room...good coffee...nice selection of foods. Overall a great place to stay in Wall. I hope we get a chance to stay again.

« Nice place. Nothing fancy. »

This was a nice hotel. Close to attractions and eating establishments. The breakfast was wonderful! The desk staff was really nice. I didn't appreciate the cleaning staff resting on the balcony smoking, but other than that, nothing to complain about.

    « Best in Town »

I'm not a fan of motels but this one is nice. Clean rooms & bathrooms with a comfortable bed and sheets. Good selection for breakfast and friendly service. The decor is a little dated but very clean. There are not a lot of options in this town but this is certainly the best in town.

    « Decade »

I stayed at the Best Western Plains Hotel, Wall, SD 10 years ago with a different dog. When I stopped of a snowy night I had forgotten my stay so long ago, but I clearly recalled the facility as I spotted the pet area and I was pleased to find an old friend . This is a High quality BEST WESTERN.

    « Pleasant Experience »

Simple but clean rooms, friendly service, nice pool area, and good "downtown" location. We stayed in a ground floor standard room which was convenient and was stocked with plenty of coffee. Nothing fancy, but probably the best place in Wall. Also, the water from the hot spring was fantastic! We would stay here again!

    « Clean, comfortable motel. »

We stayed at the Best Western Plains Motel on our way through Wall, driving from Rapid City to Sioux Falls. Our arrival time was late (10p) and our departure time was early (7:30am). The front desk clerk checked us into our room quickly in the evening. The room was clean and more than acceptable for a discount motel room. It did not have the grimy unpleasant feel of some highway-adjacent motels. In the morning, a nice continental breakfast (with sausage and eggs) was presented in the motel game room. I would definitely stay here again should I ever find myself driving through Wall, South Dakota in the future.

« Clean, comfortable and convenient »

Hotel staff were helpful and efficient in all our dealings. The room was spacious and clean; the exterior of the hotel was well kept and clean. This hotel is very convenient to the Badlands National Park, and we were able to see both the spectacular sunset and sunrise. Breakfast had a large variety; however, the eggs did not seem real. The breakfast area was clean and well organized. We brought our dogs with us and the dog area was very convenient and one of the nicer ones I have seen provided by hotels that allow pets. There is an additional charge for pets, but the room itself was very reasonable so that was not a concern.

« They do a very good job »

Neat, clean, efficient motel. I liked the firm bed. Free morning breakfast starting at 6 AM was high quality; we were impressed. Would not hesitate to stay again. This region has deep water wells; the water tastes fine but they have a sign on the mirror telling you to use ice if you want a cold drink since the well temperature is not cold.

    « Best Best Western! »

A nice unassuming Best Western from the outside with the absolute best staff in west! The owner takes a hands on approach and is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet. The staff always ask if there's anything you need anytime you run into them. The rooms are comfortable and super clean. The showers (very important) have excellent water pressure and are a pleasant departure from many weak showers I've been subjected to at other hotels. The staff makes this place, it's a wonderful stay and I couldn't recommend it more. If you're going to the Badlands (which are amazing) this is your place. Thanks guys! Had a great time!

« Gateway to the Badlands »

If you can ignore the huge presence of Wall Drug, this likable BW is a straight shot down the road from the west entrance of the Badlands. Get up early, have a good free breakfast and see wildlife at its best within 15 minutes. A nice cozy place to stay before communing with our wonderful natural world.

« Excellent room for great rate! »

My husband and I went on an impromptu road trip and needed a hotel that accommodated dogs. Overall, we received great customer service. Room was huge with microwave/fridge. Excellent breakfast buffet that is much better than most free breakfast buffets. The location was super close to the Badlands and only an hour away from Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Wall and making your way to Mount Rushmore/Crazy Horse.

« A Gold Mine on the Dakota Plains »

We stayed at the Best Western Plains on our return Trip From Big Sky Montana Sat, March 26th. After a long day of driving, we just wanted a relatively clean place to sleep for the night. We reserved 2 rooms during the afternoon drive. Upon checking in we were very surprised by the nice updated lobby area and the courteous staff. (Free popcorn and coffee available!!). We had 2 ground floor rooms which were very updated (almost new in appearance) and very clean and comfortable. In the morning we walked to the pool building where the free breakfast was. The selection and quality was better than most of the hotels in any city. The staff was very hardworking, kept the selections available and kept the area very clean as well. We checked out the pool/hot tub area. WOW. It was like new, very clean and spacious......better than 90% of all hotels we have ever been to. The ownership obviously takes great pride in their hotel and trains their staff to do likewise. We will definitely make it a point to stay there whenever we need a room in the area and will recommend this hotel to any and every one. Thanks to the staff and owners!!

« Great place to stay! »

This motel was very clean and the staff extremely friendly. It looked like it has been recently remodeled. They have a nice selection at the continental breakfast. The bed was just a tiny bit firm for me but no complaints about anything else. The wireless internet access worked great.

    « Better than expected »

We arrived in Wall in March to find just about everything closed--plus a snowstorm was predicted. This Best Western was one of the nicest, and the indoor pool is beautiful. We anticipated staying two nights, because of the storm, and we would have enjoyed spending time in the large, comfortable room an extra day.

« I never stay at motels, but... »

When I saw the options in Wall, SD, I was disappointed to see they were all motels. We wanted to do the Badlands for 2 days and this was the only logical place for us to stay, so we used Tripadvisor and tried to pick the best motel we could find. Wow -- I was pleasantly surprised! We arrived to a friendly front desk staff and a very comfortable, CLEAN, gigantic room. We had paid around $10 extra for the family suite room with 3 beds and that was definitely worth it! Room had fresh paint and carpet and updated furnishings. Beds were very comfortable, shower was great. We liked it so much we decided to book an extra night. Indoor pool was fun for the kids. Hot tub was definitely on the small side but still relaxing. Breakfast was good and plenty of seating (in March). Convenience stores on every corner and dining options near Wall Drug. Make sure to check out the sunset at Pinnacle Point just a short drive from Wall. Grab a Subway lunch on your way to the Badlands for a midday picnic.

    « Perfect after a long day's hike! »

After hiking all day in the Badlands National Park we were ready for a hot shower and quiet, comfy nights rest! We got it!!! Thank you!! 2 queen room, super comfy bed and pillows, bonus (lots of pillows)!!! Room was very clean! The shower was clean, nice and hot and very spacious!! We had a fridge and microwave in room and after a nice meal downtown, we slept like babies!! :) Breakfast was amazing! French toast, biscuits and gravy, sausage, waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, muffins, donuts! Perfect start to recharge! The only reason for 4 star not 5 was the plastic light cover in bathroom fell down and broke when getting in shower and the biggest reason was the hot tub had way, way too many chemicals, could not breathe!! And we really needed a good soak after hiking, so a bit disappointed there, side note the pool itself was fine!!! Staff was great, friendly, very welcoming!! Would absolutely recommend and stay again!!

    « Great stay! »

We were very happy with the room! We got the king bed. Room was big and roomy. Very nice and clean! Breakfast was good, lots to choose from. Pool was nice. Workout room was good. Towel animals on the bed, personal touch by housekeeping. Would recommend this to our friends!

    « A Unexpected surprise! »

A friendly and welcoming family run motel with clean rooms and extremely comfortable bed. I didn't have breakfast but my traveling companion did and he couldn't say enough good things about the array of good fresh foods offered. This is a pet friendly place with a dog walk area that includes a garbage container and plastic bags to clean up after your pet. I would stay in no other place when in Wall SD.

    « It was okay »

We had to change our route & ended up in Wall, SD. Though the lady a the desk was sort blunt, it seemed she didn't really care if we stayed on not. I felt the price we we paying was high & so did the couple behind us. I had to have a handicapped parking spot & since all handicapped rooms were taken, I would take my chances if we went out to eat. When I asked about satin bedspreads (motels) are notorious for reusing the. She was annoyed. We got up at 7:30 but free breakfast had been devoured by the early riser. Room was clean, just more expensive for what you don't get...will avoid this route next time.

    « Badlands trek »

When the weather changed from 70 to 110 we bailed from camping to the motel. It was great for swimming after hiking. Room was just fine, nothing fancy and it was easy to go walk around town and see the local sites.

« They strive to be the best and they did »

Family run motel in a very small town. Surprisingly comfortable and clean. Nice enough to prop the door open to let in the evening air. Standard breakfast is offered plus there's a few fast food places close by. For more choices, drive 0.2 miles to "downtown" for shops, restaurants and the much hyped Wall Drug. Good base for a visit to Badland Nat'l Park.

« Great for larger groups »

We stayed here with a large group (about 16 adults) and were able to get a few rooms that accommodated families very well. I would recommend this property if you were looking for multiple families to stay in one room. There is a nice free breakfast and the property is located close to Wall Drug (a nice, short stop) and several other interesting attractions (Mount Rushmore, Badlands).

« Just thr right spot for a stop on a South Dakota road trip... »

The property is up to the expected Best Western standards with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. The hotel was very busy but our room was still quiet. The restaurant is very pleasant but there are a number of choices in town.

« love the price and comfy beds at the Best Western - »

« Day 2 Road trip heading east. »

We tried to get as far as we could before stopping for the night. We had stayed in Wall, SD before, so that was our goal for the night. Surprised to see the hotel still there, so we thought we would stay again. The front desk clerk wasn't too friendly at first, had the impression she was missing a TV program, but when I asked about restaurants that were still serving she recommended her favorites. The pool closed right after we checked in, so we couldn't enjoy that. The room was clean and a hot shower felt great. We didn't get to partake in the breakfast after eating so late that night before, we werent very hungry. Maybe next time! It was a great value and will stay again!

    « Great Value »

This hotel is older but has been kept nice. Like many hotels this age the hotel doors exit to the outside. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. Has free onsite parking. Great location near the Badlands and Wall Drug. We got a great rate. Our only issue was that the shower water temperature liked to change making showering exciting.

    « Friendly and convenient »

This is an older motel and does not have elevators to the second floor. It was raining on our arrival and the staff were very helpful in advising us on how to access our room under the canopy. They are well prepared for weather and other issues that travelers often have: there is a basket just inside the door with cloths for cleaning off vehicles or whatever. Breakfast is included - however, it is located in what they call the pool building - separate from the rooms. In our case the rain had stopped so no problem. Breakfast was plentiful and the room was constantly monitored and cleaned. This is a real plus as far as I am concerned. A great choice in Wall.

    « Great Hotel »

We stay at this hotel, whether passing through or staying in the area each year for the past 3 years. They have great staff, they are helpful, courteous, and friendly. They know the area and were a great help with where to eat on days we wanted to eat in our room.

« Fantastic Family Run Place to Stay »

What a fantastic evening I had. Rooms were exceptionally clean, small personalized touches throughout. I loved the letter from the owners telling a bit about themselves, lets you feel a little more like family. I also Loved the note on the mirror about the Hot Water, but if you want to know what that says, You'll have to stay to read it yourself. Trust me, You won't be disappointed!!

« Good for the Money »

This Best Western Plains motel was a great experince for the money. Good service with friendly staff that went out of the way to help you, clean rooms with plenty of towels, coffee pot for real early coffee, and TV guide and breakfast for travelers.

    « Great Stop w/good breakfast »

easy access to freeway, great location and extra activities available in the immediate area. National Park nearby which was a positive factor and plenty to see in local community too! Enjoyed internet service, had a good swimming pool area and nice breakfast area too!

« Large two room suites for families »

We stayed at this hotel for one night as we were traveling through the area on our way to the Black Hills area. We enjoyed having an option for a two room suite with three queen beds for our family of 5. Since we were off season, the price was very reasonable. Breakfast was very good and we were able to walk to Wall Drug.

« Reasonable, if you have to stay in Wall »

We stayed at the Best Western Plains Motel for 1-night in early Oct ($74). The hotel is located just N of the I-90 overpass on the road to Badlands National Park and ~2 blocks from ?downtown? Wall. The 2-story, outside entry, wood-frame motel units are laid out in a long ?U? that encloses the parking lot, with a pool and breakfast area along the road and the office at one end. Our double queen unit was spacious, with a 9 ft ceiling decorated with wood beams that complemented the other wooden accents. Its furnishings were typical of the BW brand (comfortable bed, table with 2 chairs, long chest of drawers, upright vanity, end table), as were the accessories (mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker). The sink and vanity were in the corner of the room, adjacent to the small bathroom with bath and shower. The complementary breakfast was good but a bit sparse: french toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes and waffles, but little fruit (oranges only) and no yogurt. We stayed in Wall because its proximity to Badlands National Park allowed easy access for morning and evening photography. Otherwise, there is not much to draw you here beyond Wall Drugs, which is the ultimate in tourist kitsch. There is not much in the way of restaurants except the Cactus, a connected group that includes a bar, restaurant and family restaurant that takes up most of the 1-block downtown that is not occupied by Wall Drug. Otherwise, there are a couple of fast food places by the highway (Subway, Dairy Queen), and the only place we found for beer/wine was the gas station. The Plains Motel delivered modest value for a somewhat high price, but is saved by its BW standards. Unless you have a compelling reason to stay in Wall, you will find better value accommodations in Rapid City.

    « Nice and Friendly »

Clean, rustic, and roomy. My family and I stayed while visiting the Badlands, great location and you can walk to Wall Drug!!! I thought a nice touch was they put a towel on the biker's motorcycle seats in the morning to get the morning dew off. Would stay again:)

    « Met our needs »

Driving through Wall SD we had several choices for our last minute overnight. The Best Western was conveniently located right off 90. Room was clean and adequately supplied with what we needed. Continental breakfast was ready early which was nice since we were getting an early start. Food available was good. Would select this hotel again.

« Gem in Wall, SD »

The Best Western in Wall is a great, family run hotel. The rooms are big and reasonable priced. The internet connection is fast. Breakfast provided a nice range of foods. Located close to Badlands National Park.

« Great place while visiting Badlands National Park »

Nice big rooms that are clean and comfortable. Hallways are exterior which I like but if you have a lot of stuff there is no elevator to the second floor. Very reasonable for what you get. Breakfast was better than most Best Westerns. It is not far from the entrance to Badlands National Park so you can go in the morning and go back again in the evening. Very easy access. Wall is a small town known for the Wall Drug store which also brings in the buses which we didn't encounter that time of year. Don't expect to get good food. Not much to pick from.

    « Great Choice! »

This place was really GREAT!!! The beds were super comfortable...with soft linens and mattresses like clouds. The rooms were spacious and clean. They include a nice continental breakfast with lots of options like fresh fruit, French toast, cereal, etc. And after a long day of driving, it was refreshing and therapeutic to take a swim in their indoor pool/spa. The pool towels were a little too small, but they offer an unlimited number, so it made little difference. Anyway, I highly recommend this hotel, especially for those looking to take the bypass through the beautiful Badlands!

« If you go thru Wall, South Dakota, stay here »

Facility was larger than I expected with good size rooms, comfortable beds, very clean and a very helpful staff. Breakfast is typical fare but generous and filling. Several good restaurants in the area. Small town and they close up early so be aware.
