SureStay Best Western in Upland – where do I even begin? The photos online are completely misleading, and I honestly can't believe the positive reviews are real—they must be paid or fake because my experience was nothing like what they described. This property is used by the local homeless population with vouchers, and the environment felt unsafe. I was terrified the entire time. The noise, people up all night, and unsettling things in my room left me so shaken. I couldn't sleep at all. I brought in my own blanket, slept on top of it, and blasted a waterfall sound on my phone just to drown out the chaos. I finally left first thing when the sun came up because I couldn't take another minute. I literally prayed for my safety all night long. NEVER AGAIN. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. If you're thinking of staying here—DON'T.
Comfort and cleanliness. Breakfast is at a good time. You're near plenty of everything mostly walking distance: shopping centers, gyms, restaurants, hospitals, parks, urgent care… literally. Look it up if you don't believe me. We enjoyed our stay here. One of many I will recommend.
My bed was nice and comfortable. Shower was nice and hot and AC was good and cold.😁 The lady at the front desk they checked me in on 7th September was very nice and sweet.. The pool area is nice too and clean me and my kids had a good time. Definitely would recommend and go back..
The desk staff were wonderful, easy to understand and always available to assist with any questions I had. We extended our stay and it all went very smoothly. And the breakfast was very impressive as there was an actual breakfast room with waffles, eggs, fruit, etc. A nice stay overall.
Overall it's a very good hotel for a decent price only thing is that I've noticed that they allow pets and on their website says that they don't. I know by law they cannot say no to service animals but I noticed that some of the people that stay here have pets and and most recently we've been given a room for there was a pit previous to our arrival.
They gave key cards to another customer who then trashed our room with food and alcohol while we are not in our room, when we cane back our door was open and their stuff was all over our room, and they would not give us a full refund after this negligence.
The photos on their website got edited and widen. The place is not that big and clean. I booked this hotel for my family's 1 week vacation. Overall hotel seemed to have been renovated recently but like the saying goes “Don't judge the book by its cover”. We arrived around 10pm. Parking was great. Lobby looks good but as soon as I enter it has the disgusting smell of the overused old mop. The short hispanic lady checked us in and she was nice. The room looks neat on the naked eye but the floor was actually dirty- tbh whenever I turn the AC low it smelled like urine inside the room (Did not notice this until the 4th day of our stay because we kept the AC at high fan with 70F). There were bunch of oily fingerprints at the door, the towels-OMG they look like rags. It looked so overly used by different people, old, and has black stains on it. I went back to the lobby and asked for different towels there was the hispanic lady and caucasian lady was there and the caucasian lady said that they dont have any more extra towels until housekeeping comes at 7am. So I said, listen I don't want to be rude but I really wanted to take a shower, we travelled from the East Coast, and pleased them to find towels at the empty rooms. She told the hispanic lady to get some towels. The dark brown cloth on the foot side of the bed did not look like it was washed, it is to make the room look pretty but it has no use- we removed it and stuck in the closet. Anyway, the pool and the tub is absolutely tiny and disgusting also, there were lights during the night and my son wanted to swim but when I saw the insects and the grease/oil looking like floating on the swimming pool I said that we are not going to the pool anymore. If there is any positive that I can say for this hotel is that most of the morning staff were friendly at the breakfast and then they have free, breakfast, parking is good, thats it.
When in the upland area need a clean safe location near a park . Well this is the place. To relax at a value price while traveling
I appreciate how welcoming and kind the staff are and how clean the hotel and rooms are. The rooms are very modern and spacious and the gated entrance makes you feel safe during your stay. Highly recommended staying here!
I had a very pleasant evening with my girlfriend at the shore stay plus my best western and Upland, Ontario North we booked it last minute booking online made it super easy. The rooms were very very warm and nice and cozy and we were able to get a good nights rest And get up early in the morning for a great hot breakfast
Upon arrival, I noticed that the spot looked a bit rundown and old compared to the photos online. When we checked into our room everything looked fine and clean. Then, later in the evening when I walked into the bathroom there were TWO cockroaches. One on my bathroom bag and another on the side of the vanity. I was horrified. The next morning when going to take a shower I noticed 3/4 of my bath towels were dirty/had big stains :(
Location and cleanliness of rooms was great. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good each morning. Fresh fruit and hot coff and tea were available 24/7 in the lobby. Will be back for sure.
Very clean and inviting. Everything seemed new, lots of care and attention to detail. The server at breakfast was very courteous and went out of her way to get folks what they had to their table, despite also serving. Great value for money.
First time at this location. The app again wasn't working best. Western needs to fix that. The site was helpful in getting me signed in to a room that overlooked my truck. Breakfast was very good. Serve well variety very good.
Never thought that such a wonderful and beautiful place was waiting for me for a great price. Service is outstanding and the staff warm and caring. Cleanness is impeccable. My family was highly impressed and enjoyed a wonderful stay.
Always a pleasant and comfortable stay rooms are clean breakfast is plentiful. There is secure parking, close to shopping and restaurants. It's located on historic Route 66. The staff is friendly and professional.
I was happy, I got to relax and the food was amazing. Definitely a older I would highly recommend to people who want to have a fun, relaxed vacation or just want to get away for a moment, the food is amazing and so is the place.
Right when I checked in I could tell it wasn't gonna be a pleasant stay. Yes it looks like they renovated but that's about it. My bedsheets looked like someone had lain on it and was not changed. The outside surroundings are not kept clean. There were trash bins that smelled. A lot of guests that are up late into the night making noises outside. My neighboring room was playing music till 3 am. I don't get all the good reviews. Go to Yelp, it's more accurate.
We went for 1 night and extended for 2. Super clean, very friendly staff. Helpful and very accomedating. I was unsure when I saw some of the reviews but I took a chance and we will be staying here every time we are in the area. The close restaurants and gated parking is also super nice. It is also very quiet.
Horrible experience. I got bacterial conjunctivitis in my eyes from dirty sheets. Staff were so Rude at check in. It's there policy to clean room after 3rd day which they don't. Looks can be deceiving. Made a complaint to main lady and they blocked me from going there.....lol.
Anyone who follows my reviews knows I'm a bit of a Marriott Snob. When I needed a short overnight for a VERY Early flight from ONT I used points for this property. I was completely amazed at the quality of the accommodations at what I thought was a budget hotel. I was welcomed by a very friendly desk clerk. It was his Birthday, but he was accommodating, expedient and Friendly. The lobby appeared new. It was clean and bright. My key let me into the securely gated parking area. I was traveling light, so the lack of elevator wasn't an issue. I don't believe the building is new, but the room itself looked like it was freshly remodeled…down to the studs. Hardwood floor, a crisp and clean king size bed. Both side tables had ample USB plugs. Convenient light switches on each side of the bed, with dimmers allowed spot lights for reading. A nice desk and chair. A coffee maker and refrigerator were beneath the large wall mounted Google TV with many apps, weather, and easy access to plug in my Fire TV stick, which was instantly recognized. The bathroom, again looked like a model in a rental community. Dual Vanities, hairdryer, and lighted mirror. The toilet was clean. Immaculate walk in shower with glass doors. My rest was comfortable and enjoyable. No noise in the room. The only window looked out to the shared walkway, which is typical for this type of property. I had to leave at 0400 for the airport, so I didn't get to experience the breakfast. Maybe in my next visit. When my travels take me near Upland, I'll be back.
Excellent rating given to this hotel! We had a large suite. The room looked like it was just updated. Very clean and the bed very comfortable! We went to breakfast only to grab a yogurt and fruit but the waffles being made smelled great! The only complaint was we were on the second floor and they have no elevator. The check in person offered to help us with our luggage. A gated area to park our car also made us feel much safer leaving it on the lot. We would definitely stay here again!!
We booked this hotel because it was close to San Antonio Hospital. Perfect location as hospital is across the street and close to fast food and full service restaurants. Rooms are very clean! And affordable! Breakfast was good. Only down side pool was not heated and jacuzzi was barely warm, jets not working. If we needed to be close to the hospital in the future, we will definitely stay herecagain!
Had a very pleasant stay here for one night. Don't let the exterior of the hotel fool you - the interiors have all been remodeled and are quite nice. Our room was clean and modern and functional. There aren't too many hotel options in Upland itself. We were pretty happy with our stay here! And it includes free breakfast which is a nice perk.
From the beginning of the stay to the end, we were in complete dissatisfaction with the way we were treated. We were encouraged by the great reviews on Google and on hotels.com of this location, but unfortunately do not believe what everyone says. Don't be fooled! After we checked into our hotel we went to get food. After we got food and returned back to our hotel, we noticed that there were blood stains on our bed sheets and comforter, upon looking closely. We were obviously disgusted by this and did not want to use the bedding if it had blood in it, so we called the front desk at that time. The lady at the front desk said that she is very sorry and that she cannot have a maid replace the sheets because there were no maids at that time. Then I asked for a new set of sheets and bedding so that I could replace it myself. The lady said that she will send over the bed sheets as soon as possible. A guy who looks like a new hire by the name of “Colby, Colvy, or Toby” (one of those names, the hotel staff declined to confirm which one), arrived at our hotel room in about 10 or 15 minutes. With an attitude from when we opened our door to greet him, he gave us just the bare set of inner sheets. Upon receiving the sheets, I asked, “Could we get a comforter?”. He responded back saying, “you didn't ask for a comforter, I am giving you bed sheets.” I said back to him, “we need a comforter because the bloody bed sheets touched the comforter hence we would need all new bedding.” With extreme disrespect and rudeness, he said he will go get it. When he returned with the comforter in hand I had the old sheets that had blood on it, all wrapped up. Then he gives me the comforter. I asked him “what do you want me to do with the bloody bed sheets”, and he said “I don't know what you want me to do with it. It's not my job. You know, I am doing you a favor by bringing you these things right now, this isn't even my job, I work at the front desk.” Obviously I was very upset at this and I found this to be extremely unprofessional as the hotel had blood on the sheets, and they should do anything to fix it and to make sure that we are happy. Obviously in this case this employee did not care. When I replied back saying “that this is a problem that needs to be fixed and whoever's working at the hotel needs to be able to help me and not be rude to me, I was replied back with a statement that I would be kicked out for being too disrespectful. Along with this, this individual decided to curse at me and once he started cursing at me, with fear of safety because my girlfriend was also in the bedroom I closed the door and locked it. Despite me closing the door and locking it, this man continued to curse me out and it seems like he almost wanted to fight me saying “F*ck this and f*ck that, come on man, it's like that?!” Then I give a call to the front desk and the same lady answers again, I explain the whole situation and she apologizes. She confirms to me that compensation will be given to me the following day when the manager comes in office for all the hassle. The next morning we went to see the manager, he didn't seem apologetic or sorry whatsoever and he acted like he had no idea what we were talking about. When we finished telling him what happened, he said that his employee said we were yelling at him and being disrespectful even though he didn't know what we were talking about. Obviously a pure lie from the manager, as there was no yelling involved from my girlfriend or I whatsoever. In fact, I shut the door before the situation could escalate due to the fact that I felt threatened by his demeanor towards me. Despite my girlfriend and I explaining this to the manager, he continued to say that he will have to check with the employee again to confirm the story and nothing can be done until he confirms the story. The attitude was clearly showing that nothing could have come from this because he believes the employee over his guests. Obviously with no care towards the guest at all. I asked him, what kind of compensation will be made due to these two different matters. He said “no compensation will be offered right now I have to talk to him first.” I asked him, “what does the employee have to do with what we went through last night?” Throughout this whole conversation, he doesn't even make eye contact with me while staring at the lobby, he continues to say that he has to talk to his employee first. Brushing it aside. Obviously at this point, we had lost a lot of hope and my girlfriend and I decided to call Best Western customer line. We are greeted after a long wait when a lady asks us to discuss the story. We told her the entire story from beginning with the bloody sheets, to the end when the manager shunned us away and said no compensation and didn't show any care for us. After explaining the story she said that she will check with the hotel and let us know after a long hold she let us know that she can't help us. Then we asked to be transferred to a higher up because evidently, no one was going to help us and no one cared about this situation at all. After being connected with the higher up, the lady said after she had talked with the office staff, that their offered compensation would be that we weren't going to be charged for the sheets that we spoiled. Basically, the hotel manager lied to the higher up corporate Best Western higher up employee and said that we are the ones who spoiled and put blood on the sheets. despite us having evidence and pictures of the bloody sheets. Even after telling the lady that we have pictures of the sheets she continued to say that there's nothing that she can do because the hotel staff is adamant on the fact that we are the ones who caused the bloody sheets. Obviously at this point, we gave up. We were determined to write our story and review online, but wanted to wait until we left the property because who knows what could have happened with our service if we were still there when we wrote the review. Oh yeah, and this whole fiasco took 6 hours, and ZERO resolution came from it.Utterly useless management, rude employees, and TERRIBLE customer service. I would avoid this hotel at all costs and please DO NOT BE FOOLED by the other reviews.
The place is so dirty and so gross. People are party all night can't get no ! Sleep. The man behind the desk was so concern about smoking in the room. I don't know why it matter the room stink like has not been clean in forever. Air conditioner had no filter in it , mattress had cuts in them. This is the most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. The price is not worth it. So don't stay in this gross place it has gone down hill. I only gave a one rating for destinations .
This place should be checked out by the health department and I am sure they would close it down. I booked it as it was very close to the hospital there and I was picking a friend up from surgery and needed a place to spend the night. After looking at 6 rooms, I stayed in the last one as it was getting late. I did not touch anything I didn't have to, didn't shower there and would NOT sit on the sofa in the room. It is so disgusting, dirty, worn, cigarette burns on the bedding, blankets that have never been cleaned. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it!! Just NASTY!!!
Room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was super accommodating. Location was the best. Hotel is situated on historic Route 66 and was convenient to a multitude of restaurants serving comfort foods. Other restaurants included Peruvian, Great French, many more. Close to banks, grocery, major hospital, AAA, giant park, and several fast foods. This is a great place to stay.
Here's the deal. You will see some reviews for this hotel that are good. This is because the rooms up front (same building as the office) are nice standard hotel rooms. They call them their "executive suites". However, the majority of the "hotel" is in the back and it is a full blown filthy environment. Cigarette butts and litter all over the filthy walkways and stairs. Dirty rooms (actual dirt in corners of bathroom floors), torn carpet, tvs out of the 80s, internet that barely works, etc. It appears that there are people living there. Dogs running around off leash. Many shady characters. The door to our bathroom didn't lock because it looked like it was kicked in. No elevators and the first floor rooms reek of smoke. I have never stayed in place like this in my life. Do not bring you family here.
When you look at the pictures, it doesn't look terrible. You check in and the front desk woman is not so inviting. We get checked in and get to the room, it's the wrong type of room we booked. Check into the correct room and it smells like smoke!!! ( says it's a non smoking room). The comforter had a cigarette burn hole and the tub had hair in it! The room is super dated and definitely needs updating. When it drops into the evening, the parking lot is one ghetto area with the residents that stay there. This is not nice Upland we were accustomed too. So disappointed.
