Second year staying for almost a week. Great service, accommodations and amenities. Lived accessing my Netflix and Prime on the TV. Food offerings excellent and well prepared and managed. Great location. Nearby amenities including the large trail system. No issues.
The hotel overall is average. The room was a bit dated and the carpet needs replacing. The housekeeping needs a bit of help overall. The beds were fine. Our check in was fine. For an overnight, the hotel is fine, but just OK overall. The area (Ina Road) and location is good.
Friendly and knowledgable staff. Very clean and well maintained room, common areas and breakfast room. Coffee, tea, water and hot chocolate in the lobby and breakfast was fresh, plentiful and tasty. Easy access form I-10 and close to restaurants, services and shopping.
Nice clean property. Nice rooms, comfortable beds. Good breakfast. We had a little trouble finding it on our GPS due to some construction, but that was the only issue we had. We ended up in someone's driveway on East Ina Rd instead of West Ina Rd.
Very courteous and efficient staff. All had smiles despite the real bad weather earlier in the week . Easy on and off the hiway. Service station close by . I would definitely stay if I was traveling through the area . Room very comfortable and clean . Thanks for having a room .
We can't say enough about how exceptional the staff are at this hotel. Friendly & caring, even going out of their way to return personal property accidentally left behind. Comfortable and clean room & good location.
Just left from this location & we had a great nights stay. Clean bed, pillows & room. Plenty of white clean towels. Cold air. I'm picky so I look at everything & it was a great stay at this location. Staff ( night & day) were friendly with smiles. Bkft was good also in the AM.
Our cost went up with our military discount , and the room was HOT and not clean. It smelled like wet dog. There was hair still in the shower from the last guest.
I liked that the next days breakfast was posted on a sign board. The AC unit was loud for me. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed being close to the loop bike trail system.
The Gold Poppy Inn was clean and comfortable. All of the people were friendly. The breakfast was top notch.
We are Diamond Select and have NEVER had worse customer service. We booked on the Best Western App at Senior rate and paid $100 of $111.33 rate. When we arrived Serenity refused to check us in and give us our key. She said demanded $40 additional and she would not honor our rate. She kept muttering the taxes were more than we paid. Unbeknownst to us she also took 20,000 points from our account (revealed by customer service when I called the National Reservation line for assistance. We were driving cross country, it was late and we were tired. It took me an hour of disagreeing with her and finally 45 minutes speaking to the National reservation line to get our key. The entire time other guests were trying to check in listening to her untruthful, condescending comments. Some walk-in guests chose not to stay when they overheard her demanding more $$ after we had paid, plus taken our points. She refused to allow us to cancel and go somewhere else. While she spoke to telephone reservation agent who trained her to get the computer to accept our rate, she continually lied to her about what had happened. Throughout the 1 hr delay we waited to get our key she argued with us in front of guests. She topped it off by responding to my inquiry of what is your name, with "my name is Serenity, it means Peace just to put one more arrogant comment out there. Just in case that wasn't enough to spoil our stay the housekeepers started banging on our door at 8:30 am to see if we were inside. We yelled through the door 3 times we were still there, but they were laughing and chatting so loud they couldn't hear so they continued banging. I had tto stop packing and go open the door to get them to leave. When we did leave they had left 3 housekeeping carts in front of our door blocking our path to the lobby To top off our stay it took me 50 to wait for Asst to manager to show up 20 minutes late and 30 minute discussion about all the ruckus. Once we left Customer Affairs called me and that took another 25 minutes. If you have 2.25 HOURS spare time to have unpleasant conversations on your vacation, PLEASE STAY HERE. YOU'LL LOVE IT.
This was a lovely hotel. I loved the staff. Everything was awesome. The room was clean. People were friendly and the breakfast was good. Hot coffee. Good experience. Would absolutely stay there again. After a long day of travel, I was thankful the process to check in and get into a room was easy.
This Best Western met and indeed EXCEEDED our expectations! Our suite was comfortable, clean & very nicely appointed! The staff was friendly, pleasant and helpful! We highly recommend this Best Western!
Stayed 2 nights and was very pleased with everything. It was clean, the internet worked good, the associates were pleasant and received warm cookies in the afternoon-evening. I have stayed here previously and would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area.
Traveling with spouse. Hotel right off freeway but very quiet. Hot breakfast with protein with revolving options every day- very good. Staff is very friendly and prompt if there are questions or issues.
Had a very nice stay and will look to stay at Best Westerns for the overall pleasant experience…I like that they offer a free complimentary breakfast that is very good…the staff is very friendly and helpful as well
The front desk agent Michaela was sooooooo helpful....I needed to be able to view my car with its trailer attached during my stay as a couple of previous places some hooligans tried to tamper with it and was thankful for the other guests who were able to tell the front desk to let me know but....so..... I was very anxious about this next upcoming stay and Miss Michaela was so kind as to go and check which room had the view that I would need and allowed me to switch rooms.... really great customer service and so caring for my safety.... room 112 was very cozy and the shower was good.....bed was too firm but I always travel with a foam pad as each BW location is different...... Breakfast was simple with different options with a sweet breakfast attendant lady. ......easy off and on for the freeway.....and just all around caring people..... I've stayed here three other times over the past 5 years and will continue to do so in the future.
This is an excellent motel. Easy access off of I-10 with nearby shopping and restaurants. Clean, extremely comfortable and spacious room. Excellent, friendly staff. Nice fitness area. Would highly recommend!
Room 101, extra-extra firm bed, had to add some cushioning to finish sleeping. Shower head is way up high so it loses water pressure on the way down, but is adequate, Water heats up quick ifrom sink faucet and shower... Great TV, comfy sofa, simple but good breakfast with bacon, a cheap kind of sausage, waffles, bagels and cream cheese, english muffins and real butter, hard boiled eggs, american cheese slices, salsa, maple syrup, jams and jellies.
Great place to stay - Phenomenal breakfast! Lots of choices, Comfortable beds. Good size rooms. Friendly staff members that were very accommodating. Not too crowded - Quiet out of the way hotel. We will stay here again in the future for sure.
Had an overnight stay-staff very friendly and helpful, and the lady in charge of the breakfast room is very efficient indeed, continually checking breakfast items, and restocking when necessary. The front desk staff also very helpful and friendly. Our room was on the 2nd floor, and was very clean and fresh. Bed was very comfortable as was the pillows. The only thing that kept me awake was the I-10 traffic, so we should have opted for a room on the opposite side of passage. Other than that I cannot fault this hotel.
Staff is very nice and helpful. Room was very clean. Conveniently located right of the freeway. Dennys is within walking distance and there is also a QT right there. Pool is only 4ft deep in the middle which is nice if you have small children.
Great stay, staff and value. Would definitely return while in Tucson. Proximity to activities was perfect. Many options for free breakfast. Plenty of parking. All the basic amenities available in the room.
There are no jetted tub or jacuzzi tubs as advertised at this location. They have been removed and they are STILL advertising and selling them on the website. Customer beware! Basically, I went to check in, saw the room on the receipt that I prepaid for through Expedia with a jetted tub listed. Then they told me that they had been removed last year at the start of the remodel and that the manager intended to update the website after the remodel, months after it started. Basically cheating people out of the main selling point of their no longer existing high end rooms. I asked if I would get a partial refund, I was told to talk to the manager in the morning. So I did, all they offered was some "Best Western reward points" which when you come down to it, doesn't come close to the equivalent of the difference between the room I reserved and the room I got. So it was a bait and switch. And as of early Jun 2023, they were still doing it. If you have your heart set on a relaxing bathroom experience, this is not the place to get it (the new tubs are not deep, they are actually quite shallow. )
I checked into the hotel late on May 12th and discovered that the room did not have any hot water. After calling down to the front desk, I was told that the hotel was fully booked and they would leave a note for the hotel manager when they came in the next morning. After being in the car for 14 hours and needing to leave the next morning (~5am), this wasn't going to work. Fortunately, I was able to secure a room at the Holiday Inn Express down the road for a reasonable rate. The hotel looks to be going through some major renovations as equipment and appliances were still in packing/shipping materials in the parking lot...so that is probably why the room didn't have hot water. Suggestion...maybe you should check to make sure each room has functional power/hot water/air conditioning before you release it to a customer. Or don't fully book your hotel in case there's an issue with a room. Traveler's be warned and have a backup plan!
Would not stay here again unless we knew that the renovations were done. We booked a King Jacuzzi Suite and all we had was a little bathtub/shower combo with low water pressure and it took a long time to get hot water. Yes it was less expensive than a few of the other hotels I checked in the area, but now I can see why. We had to park at a neighboring hotel and not at the one we were staying at due to construction skylift taking up the parking area and construction vehicles.
Overall a very good hotel. Room was clean. Breakfast was adequate and lots of it. Attendant worked hard to keep it up and trays full. Leaky shower hose was replaced in a timely manner. Only peeve was hot water was intermittent due to a a lot of people booked for the annual Gem Show in Tucson. Oherwise, I would stay here again.
I knew I would be spending the evening in Tuscon, and after researching the options I went with Best Western Golden Poppy Inn. It was in a very convenient location. Parking was easy and check in was simple. Plus, they had delicious fresh cookies in the lobby. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was complete. For a quick stay, it was exactly what I needed.
After a 12 Hour Drive, Best Western @ Gold Poppy Inn in Tucson, AZ was a perfect stay for an overnight rest, the Hotel was very Clean, the Staff was very Friendly, and the location was very good, and not too far from the Highway, when I drive from TX to CA, this will always be a place where I'll stop for an overnight rest
Stayed 3 nights here for our (a family of two adults and two teenage boys) trip to the Saguaro National Park and Chiricahua National Monument. 1. Location: Right next to Interstate 10. Easy to find. I didn't hear any noise from I-10. It took 20-30 min. to Saguaro NP West/Arizona-Sorona Desert Museum, and 2 hours to Chiricahua NM. 2. WiFi: One of the best WiFi experience that I've had. I was even able to watch sports live stream with no buffering. 3. Breakfast: Pretty nice - Eggs (scrambled or omelette), Sausage, Potato (hash-brown), pancake, bagel, biscuit, juice, coffee, yogurt, fruits, cereal, etc. 4. Hotel staff members were all nice and kind. The lady preparing breakfast was particularly nice. 5. Room: Well maintained and clean. Equipped with flat-panel TV, microwave, and mini refrigerator. 6. Elevator is available for the people staying in the 2nd floor. 7. Coffee and lemonade are available all day long the lobby. 8. Sufficient parking space.
When I booked my trip, I knew all I wanted and needed in lodging was a clean place to shower and sleep. A 2-star is fine with me. The location of this hotel was ideal for me as I wanted to explore further afield of Tucson proper, and highway 10 would be my main road. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and, unexpected bonus, there is a FULL, complimentary breakfast daily. We're talking way more than pastries and coffee; they had everything you could want (eggs, toast, bagels, oatmeal, fresh fruit, organ juice....). They also put out fresh baked cookies in the afternoons, next to ice-cold lemonade in the lobby. My room (first floor) was exactly what I needed, and during my Thursday-Sunday night stay, was quiet, with turndown service daily. I've stayed at "better" hotels, but the value and staff interactions here surpassed those experiences. I also enjoyed the pool and hot-tub every day. They have a workout room as well, which I did not use.
We booked here only because we were traveling with adult child and wanted to be in the same suite but have some separation also. There are not many suites available in the city. We should have just opted for two rooms. The sleeper sofa was awful, holes in the mattress and coils visible. I actually doubt it was ever comfortable. If you are going to advertise as a suite, the sleeper sofa option should be something a person can actually SLEEP on without pain. The room was dirty. While looking for bedding for the sleeper sofa (it was not to be found in the room and we had to go ask for some later) we found dirty underwear and clothing from a previous guest in a top drawer of the dresser. Staff was difficult to find and informed us they are very short handed. We also needed towels for the third in our party. We did book for three adults so it seems that the room should have been stocked for three adults. They were out of towels and one of us had to make do with hand towels. Really not a good experience at all. I will not be back to a Best Western and I will not recommend them to others.
On the way home you want a comfortable , clean, safe to rest. This hotel was all that. the staff was pleasant, my room was furnished with all that I might need for the night.....well, maybe add a wine opener. There was a take out menu and although a bit expensive, was worthwhile for a weary traveler. The morning staff was cheerful and a lovely exchange to start the day, the breakfast room exceptionally clean.
This little gem may need a face lift because it is dated, but it was nice. We had no issues. Very easy to get onto 10 from our hotel. Our son attends University of Arizona and this is within 20 minutes from there. Lots of things to do. But nothing within walking - which was fine for us. Loved our stay. Felt safe, Patrick and Eddie were both very helpful. All of the staff was friendly.
Do not under any circumstances stay here. Bad location. Inn next door had noisy guest's. Old and Dirty. Bug's on the counter. Avoid at all costs. Desperate need of updates. Pool was disgusting. People smoking everywhere
If I wasn't so exhausted, I would have asked for another room. As it was, the bed was clean and comfortable. However, there were poop particles in the toilet and a plunger left next to the toilet. There was soap scum left in the soap dish in the shower showing that hadn't been cleaned either. There were nut pieces on the chair next to the bed and little bits of trash on the floor. A bedside table had some sprayed residue of something. Everywhere I looked a little closer was disgusting. When I fled the room in the morning somewhat better rested, I told the front desk clerk how gross it all was. She said her manager would call. The manager never called. Don't stay here.
We stayed for a week as tourists and live Tucson. The Gold Poppy was the perfect place for us - convenient, clean, nice amenities and breakfasts (except for that waffle iron) and close to attractions. Chris was especially helpful and friendly to us, almost like a friend. We would stay here again
We spent 4 nights at this hotel and so far very satisfy on all services. The hotel is not that new you can notice from pillow and towel but it's not a big deal. There is always staff at the front office 24 hours to assist. The breakfast choice is good. We love waffle maker and my kids enjoy waffle everyday. There is staff to clean the breakfast room and refill the food. The kids love the pool however it wasn't heated. We were there at the beginning of springs and the water was freezing cold but the kids still enjoy there jumping between the pool and hot tub. The location is great, has a few restaurants in the good distance. Very close to gas station. Easy to access and close to the freeway. It's very convenience for us for the whole stay.
No hot water in the shower. Loud, constant Interstate highway noise, need ear plugs. Poor breakfast service. Was clean. Beds ok. I am a fan of Best Western but this one in Tucson goes on my bad hotel list and I will not stay here again.
Our 3 night stay was nice and comfortable. They provided a real hot breakfast that was quite good! Eddie is the "go to" person and will help in any way he can to make your stay pleasant. Convenient location off I-10.
Chose this hotel for business stay, and was very impressed with room size (separate bedroom from living quarter); friendly staff, well maintained, and impressive continental breakfast offering. Would certainly stay here again. Great value.
Had an exceptional experience, hotel beyond expectation and staff was exceptional. Hotel is a little out of the way but conveniently located close to the freeway. Not far from everything, Great selection for breakfast!
My daughter and I spent a night here while revising Tucson and some of it's attractions that were favorites from her youth. The location of the hotel helped visits go very well. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel well maintained. The breakfast was quite acceptable easily meeting our needs.
Except for the high room rates during the Tucson Rock and Gem shows, this was a great 3-ngiht stay. With that said, this hotel's rates were better than those of many comparable hotels. This Best Western is adjacent to the freeway and 12 min to downtown. The facility is clean, well run and the rooms larger and more comfortable than expected. The staff even baked cookies in the afternoon for guests. Can't beat that. There are plenty of eatery selections near here. There was almost no noise from the freeway, and room sounds were very minor, too. Room had a fridge, microwave and fast internet. Good hot and cold breakfast selections, too. I would book this hotel again.
The property is in a convenient location. The grounds were clean. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable. The room had coffee and was supplied with toiletries. They offer hot and cold breakfast items and they kept it stocked. Would recommend staying here. I will in the future.
The front desk clerk was very professional and amenable. Hot water is a problem, in the room and in the hot tub. Room was okay, but not as luxurious as the price would indicate. Good internet service, Easy access to I-10. Fifteen minutes from downtown Tucson.
We stayed here for a week & it was very clean, staff was very helpful, good breakfast, rooms had whirlpool tubs ( I'm guessing all do since we did not ask or pay extra for it) convenient location, food/gas nearby, average price & overall would recommend it. If we ever come back to Tucson we will stay here The only negative was that the phone did not work but no big deal since everyone has cell phones today. We also had no hot water & after we notified the front desk it was repaired within the hour
No ice all weekend. Tv remote was broken. Water was shut off Saturday so we couldn't shower or use restroom. Exterior trash was overflowing. Found a box of ammo in nightstand drawer. No blankets on bed
Dirty room. Three conditioners and no shampoo. Poor heating unit. Breakfast was poor no drink choices. Lack of friendliness or caring. At checkout she could care less about our problems with the room and breakfast. I typically like best western because they care even if they are not the best and newest. This one is just poor all the way around. If you read reviews this isn't the first with these issues. They just don't care.
Aside from the fact the property was difficult to get to, the room had a squeaky door, no desk chair, Tv station schedule did not match Tv, and TV wand did not work right. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful and the breakfast service was OK.
Whirlpool in room... but its kinda old, also they do have a buffet style hot breakfast, make-your-own-waffle...also the bed was a little flat buy the sheets were very clean and the air conditioning cold.
Traveling from NV to AZ to drop off kid at college. Great hotel in decent part of town but next to a more shady hotel (Travel Lodge). Staff at BW was polite, respectful, and accommodating. All day lemonade, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, hot water, and cookies were an extra plus. Breakfast was included and filling for the mornings. Laundry facilities available for coin use. Ice machine and vending machine in convenient location. Affordable and ease of access into downtown and UA areas but still far enough to avoid the congestion in those areas.
In 40 years of travel, this ranks as one of the top 3 most disgustingly dirty hotels I have ever checked into, and the first I immediately checked out of and the first time I've demanded my non-refundable prepayment back! I was a bit concerned that the common area and hallway were dirty, but dismissed it as a possible timing issue. But look closely at the photos I took as I scrambled to get out of the room! The food bits along the walls and platform bed were alarming, but the bloody looking fingerprint on the shears and the bloody bandaid on the bathroom floor caused me to declare, “we are out of here” to my husband. The young lady at the front desk apologized and offered another room. I asked for a refund, she politely complied and we headed down the road to the new, CLEAN Hampton Inn in Marana! If Best Western considers what I witnessed as enhanced cleaning due to covid, God bless any weary traveler too who lays their head down in that Petri dish of a hotel!
Hotel is not well maintained. Room was not clean stains on carpet, odor from shower curtain. Staff not adhering to their own posted mask protocols. Stayed here two years ago, place was very nice at that time. Disappointing.
Unfortunately our stay was terrible. Convenient location but took three tries to get a room that wasn't unlocked, dirty unmade bed & drawers open! Front desk did nothing when a drunk man was screaming all night across the hall. Heater didn't work. Overall dirty & sketchy people.
You would think during an ongoing pandemic, things would be cleaner. What looked like an opened package of incense was on the floor. The carpet was filthy. Furniture and appliances dusty and dirty. Heating/AC unit was dirty, but cooled well. We spent the first hour of our stay cleaning and sanitizing. The excuse given was they were understaffed for housekeeping, but if the rooms aren't clean, don't rent them out. Toilet seat was really loose. Lack of towels. Noisy. First night, doors banging, dog barking (pet free?), people yelling and whistling until after midnight, banging doors as early as 4:30 AM. You can hear the interstate noise. Second night was quieter. Bagged breakfast was kind of a joke. Sour milk, old shriveled apple, and moldy bagel. Would have been nice to see a list of choices or be able to see the offerings better. Asked for breakfast sandwiches because of another review we read. Not offered until asked about. Supposedly masks were required but most staff and many guests didn't wear them or wore them on their chins. Would not stay there again.
Reserving a nights stay can be stressful if you reserve with a card. The system only shows the last four digits of your card so if your stay was reserved by someone else you better know that card number or you are out of luck.
I have never seen what I saw here. We turned down the cover to get ready for bed and was aghast at what we saw. The bottom sheet was heavily wrinkled and dirty showing stains from whoever had used the bed last. We reported this and got another room. But this made the stay not so good. I wouldn't recommend this Inn. Photo of the bed is too gross to share but was shown to hotel staff.
Very poor experience, and we stay almost exclusively at Best Westerns. Paid more for this hotel as the reviews we say were higher than a property we had stayed at previously. What a mistake, first, went up to our room at check-in and when we opened the door we saw the room had been occupied but had not been cleaned or anything. Then had to wait at the front desk for quite awhile as only one person working the hotel evidently. Where given a different room which was ok, nothing great or worth the price. Bathroom light flickered like an old horror movie for the first several minutes. Finally, if you stay there for more than one night you better be out of your room by 8 a.m. or you won't get your room made up. We stayed for 3 nights and our room was not made up even once, didn't even empty our trash, and we were out of the room by about 9:30 a.m. or so daily. Kept going down to the front desk for new towels. Place was old and definitely tired, but the room did work for a place to stay, just couldn't imagine ever staying there again. Front desk staff were nice for the most part and apologized, but would expect more than an apology.
Avoid rooms next to elevator...very loud.....carpet stained which made it appear dirty in 2nd floor room across from elevator...the toilet handle had to be held to complete flushing every time and super slow...showerhead was old, could use some pressure. Firm bed...stayed here last year too.
Stayed here over Thanksgiving and the second I pulled into the area I knew this was going to not be a pleasant stay. The building looks ok from the outside, but looks can be deceiving as we all know. Lobby is a bit funky as it is tiny, the breakfast room (unable to use due to COVID) looks like it is in a closet, and there's a narrow doorway to get you to the elevator. Check in was a bit slow since I had gift cards to use, no issue there though as it's not a common occurrence I'm sure. Elevator was old, sketchy, and the last inspection was long out of date and expired. Room was the most underwhelming part and why even by Best Western standards this place shouldn't be a Best Western. Loose floor tiles in the bathroom, half of the lights don't work, bugs in the bathroom light, water stains on the ceiling and the curtains, stains inset in the carpet and on the bed (fortunately only one side, so I just slept with a sheet on top and avoided it), furniture with plenty of scuffs and chunks missing. The nicest thing there was the desk chair-that's sad. Pretty much every room faces the freeway at least partially so expect a bit of noise. Sheets were paper thin, but at least the bed and pillows were ok. Breakfast was a bit disappointing even by COVID standards as there was no milk or fresh fruit, only prepackaged items like breakfast bars. So if you like those, they had literally every single brand and type under the sun there. Pay a few more bucks and stay at another BW in town, I'm sure it's better than this place.
I made reservations for 4 nights through Phoenix headquarters. I arrived to find the hotel did not have that reservation number. I was given a room. I put my luggage on a cart and went to room 215.to find the room wasn't clean. The toilet wasn't flushed. I had to go back down with the cart and they gave me room 108. It wasn't clean either. There was urine spots on the floor and blood and makeup on the pillow, which had been turned to the back of the bed. Makes you wonder if the sheets were clean? Pathetic service. The clerk had to leave her desk and clean the room. The next day, the new clerk told me I had checked out the night before! WHAT?? I had to clear that up! What a mess! When I left on Monday, my credit card had multiple charges and credits. They are in a state of disarray in that hotel. Manager works at hotel next door also. Where is brand loyalty? Also, at 3am on third night (morning) fireworks were lit outside my window. Police in the morning said it was considered a bad area. I watched officers remove a suspect from the hotel next door. What a terrible experience!
My husband and I booked a last-minute stay at the Best Western Gold Poppy Inn when we had to reroute a hiking trip due to a snowstorm and fires in Colorado. The accommodations were fine but we didn't feel the staff was taking COVID seriously enough. When we arrived at check-in, we were helped by a gentleman who wasn't wearing a mask despite signs everywhere saying they're required (we were wearing ours). There was some plexiglass at the front desk but he didn't stay behind it the whole time. He checked us in within a few minutes. We asked if we could borrow a bell cart and he directed us to it. While getting it, we saw two men come through the lobby and go up the elevator - one was maskless and the other had his pulled down. We had been traveling across the southwest and this hotel was the only one that didn't take the precautions as seriously as they should. The rest of our stay was fine. The room was clean and comfortable. The temperature control was sufficient. The wifi was pretty slow but usable. The price was reasonable, especially for a last-minute booking ($87.28 with taxes). We would have recommended this hotel if they had just been more stringent about following COVID safety protocols.
Facility is a bit tired, with light switch plates broken in room, and maids leaving carts in hallway after cleaning was finished, making it hard to get luggage by the carts. Not one of the nicer Best Western hotels we have stayed in. However, the bed was very comfortable.
The night went perfectly, this was in the planning stages for years and it finally happened. I was finally able to seduce my mother, I had been planning this for years and it finally fell into place. I don't think it could have gone any better.
I approached the desk clerk and said hello. I was ignored by this person for a couple of minutes untill they finished what they were doing on the computer, then suddenly, he yelled, "CHECKING IN!" After giving him my information, he slid the key card to me without explaining how to get on the internet, where breakfast was... nothing. The outside of the building looked pretty new, but the room was old and dated. Fraying carpet in front of the bathroom a bad repair of the wall by the sink and the noisy heating and aircondtioning units without a wall thermostat that make a lot of noise when they go on and off. I had a problem while I was there and notified the hotel manager, he did not respond, so I emailed him a second time, then a third time, he did not respond. I wrote a letter to the CEO David Kong, a woman from his office contacted me, but we were not able to resolve the problem. I had a free night from their loyalty program. I told them to keep the free night I would not be using it and to delet my information from the loyalty progam. After staying at Best Western hotels for about 15 nights, my impression was that they were all old and worn, the breakfast is minimal, with no healthy choices. Some of the people who work there just don't seem to care if they do a good job or not. I will never stay in a Best Western Hotel again.
This hotels was a pleasant place to stay. Everything worked really well, including the shower and wifi. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and helpful -- especially Eddie. Breakfast was better than I expected -- a couple of hot items, as well as fresh fruit and the standard breads and cereals. The exercise equipment was limited, but it all worked well; and there was plenty of convenient and safe parking. The only negative was the location -- no restaurants within walking distance -- really just in the middle of nowhere next to the interstate. But it is close the the West side of Saguaro National Park -- and near some great spots for sunsets.
Immaculate inside and out! Michael was at the front desk and took great care of us - with Corona shut downs going on everywhere he's on the frontlines for us disgruntled travelers even without all the fear factors he deserves a raise! I would be so lucky if all of my employees were like him! Don't let him get away over a dollar or two! With that out of the way the grounds were immaculate and so was the lobby and lobby bathroom, this is a very well maintained hotel that does have a hot tub and a pool with a gym. We aren't allowed to use it because of the government lockdowns and mandates at this time but I did touch the waters and they felt perfect, but everything was wonderful here. I highly recommend this property for a layover, business, or any other reason you may have for being in Tucson. It's safe and all the facilities would have been fabulous we had a great night here, thanks to Michael and the rest of your staff that was unseen. We were even given a grab and go bag because they weren't allowed to put any type of drink or food out. The rooms are clean, updated and the beds are comfy we would definitely stay here without hesitation if back in Tucson. I recommend you do too!!! Thank's to All of You at Best Western Gold Poppy Inn!!
Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, and the friendliness and efficiency of the breakfast attendants and desk manager. Much better than what we usually encounter. The facility was clean, very conveniently located (especially for activities just to the east of Tuscon). The cookies baked daily were superb! And the rates were among the best we found for Best Wstrn in Arizon. I highly recommend this place.
Very disappointed and would definitely have moved to another hotel had I not paid for our 5 night visit in advance. Among the issues - 1. The water was turned off (due to a repair elsewhere in the hotel). No notice - only discovered when we returned from a hike hoping to clean up before attending a concert. Found out when shower would not turn on and toilet would not flush. Called the front desk and was told of the problem. No note in the lobby or room or comment from the clerk when we had come in. 2. Two days room was not cleaned. Complained but nothing done to correct. Had to request the clerk please pick up the garbage and bring towels. The second day we talked to the front desk at 3:00 PM as we had returned briefly before heading out for an evening engagement and were told it would be addressed but when we returned at midnight there was no change. 3. Breakfast room so small had to eat in lobby with food balanced on our laps. 4. Carpet in our room had deep stains.
Nice motel conveniently located off I10 on the north side of town. Clean, comfortable bed, good breakfast, very nice staff. Even though we faced the freeway, the room was quiet. We used the Gold Poppy as a base as we toured Tucson.
The room was extremely quiet and roomy, Bed was absolutely "fantastically" comfortable, wins award for our best ever!! The air conditioner/heating system was quiet and worked very well. Plenty of plugins for today's world of electrical devices!! The bathroom was spotless! Employees were attentive and personable. they had ice machines available on all floors. We stayed for four days and this newly remodeled hotel met every expectation we needed or asked for from the staff. Remarkable service.
The room was nice & everything worked well, but the 1st night I couldn't sleep much due to all the road noise & train noise. The 2nd &3rd night we turned on the fan to kill some of the noise so we could get some sleep. We were on the 3rd floor so might be better to be the back of the hotel on the 1st or 2nd floor so that some of the noise is minimized by hotels on that side. The staff was good. It wasn't too far for the locations we were visiting for the Gem & Mineral show.
Decent hotel that had comforatable beds. Right off Interstate so easy to find. Thought noise might be a problem. Heard the train once in awhile but not to bothersome. Denny's just a few steps away to eat. Breakfast was the usual Best Western Breakfast but free and fresh.
Not the Ritz, but, as a roadside motel, absolutely fine. Clean, room in good condition, very comfortable. Very convenient to Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park. Breakfast was decent, too. All day coffee.
Stayed here on way back from Cali due to location close to Old Tucson Studios! Wound up staying an extra nite because of the wonderful people and atmosphere here! I highly recommend this BW location and if you stay (just a few miles outside busy Tucson) make sure you meet Josiah. He is the host and provider every establishment needs to grow loyal customers!!! Eddie was also great but Josiah stole the show.
This is my go to place when I just need to get out of my house for a night or two. The staff are absolutely wonderful and if any issues are brought to their attention they are handled fast and efficiently.
Stayed with BW points - so the price was right! Large and comfortable room Firm bed. Good TV. Enjoyed the easy chair in the room. Excellent breakfast - very friendly host - greeted everyone with a sincere Good Morning. Also the morning person on checking-out - very friendly and helpful. Only concern - first impression was not that great - it seemed that the reception desk was cluttered and a bit unorganized. Took a few minutes to check-in - computer was slow..
Hotel is situated close to the highway; it was our sixth Best western in a row. Place is clean and it apparent that this place had another banner before. Reception was rather cold but acceptable. We had a good night sleep and left early. We did not have the breakfast.
I would not pay the price for Comfort Inn. What I got was equal to what I get at a Red Roof Inn or EconoLodge, which are quite a bit cheaper. No hot water, no gluten free food, no real blankets. This blankets with no extra ones in the room. Not worth the price I paid.
Stayed here last night. The hotel is in the midst of updating as it's a bit tired. The bed was firm, but comfy. Breakfast was decent. Had a Denny's next door. And just off the highway. Staff was friendly.
This Best Western is sandwiched between Travelodge and a Red Roof hotels making it a challenge to find the front door. Everything was clean and there was a very good full breakfast, although oatmeal is only instant. Our room was smaller than other Best Westerns we've experienced. The sink countertop is only 3 feet wide. My and my wife's kits resided by the tv. The a/c in the hallway was overactive and loud. Tip: Get a room facing away from the freeway and away from the end of the hall (where the a/c unit is).
The hotel was nice, close to I-10 and close to stores and restaurants on Ina Rd. Rooms were clean and the breakfast was hot and fresh. Also close to Saguaro National Park and great hiking/biking trails! Will stay there again.
My wife and I stayed here and found the location to be great. North side of Tucson, away from too much city if that's your speed. But just a few miles from the Saguaro Nat'l Forest which is stunning. Restaurants are close, smaller shopping stores like Target are also close. Super easy to find, right off the highway. A small pool, not built for 20 screaming kids, and a small jacuzzi. Not an issue for us as we spent most time at the forest. Excellent breakfast with something for everyone. We have every intention of staying here again. Some noise from the highway outside, but our experience inside was that it was quiet, and very clean. Ample parking, and we felt secure at this location. The entire staff we dealt with were courteous and polite. We must mention in particular a staff member named Eddie. As far as we are concerned, Eddie should be running ALL Best Westerns. Again, all the staff was outstanding, but Eddie was able to come through and help us no matter the requests, which were modest, but Eddie really made it his duty and concern, not just a "job". There are many places to stay, and everyone has a favorite most likely. In the end, it's always a personal decision based on family needs and location. We would recommend this Best Western without any reservation whatsoever.
After a 565 mile next to last leg of a 6300 mile(21 day) motorcycle trip, this hotel was a great stay. Deonna, the receptionist made me feel like a valued BW patron. It was easy on-easy off to the freeway. Comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very good also.
My stay actually turned out to be quite enjoyable the room itself was beyond comfy and just made you feel at home it was clean and had a pleasant aroma and last but not least it was still conveniently located next to food and entertainment
hotel was fair, breakfast was fair, good location for one night, staff nice, room was okay bathroom lights kept flicking off and on, staff changed our room, next morning the toilet over flowed, so we left early morning before check out, no accommendations for that. we were not satisfied with this hotel, pool you had to share with another hotel on site, will not be using this hotel again, did not meet my expectations, to other reviews, from this site or booking .com
We have stayed here several times on trips between Las Vegas and Austin, TX. Never a problem. Clean, convenient, quiet. We will stay there the next time we come through. Nothing more to say.....it's just what you'd expect.
The staff was genuinely pleasant, eager to make my stay a better experience. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable with crisp linen. Breakfast was fantastic. Great selection of food items. A very good night's rest!
The exit on the freeway for Ina road was finally open. This hotel has really gone down hill. We have stayed in this hotel a number of times. Always been a very pleasant place to stay, until now. The hotel is really shows signs of wear. Good example: the bathroom door knob has been replaced with a regular door knob. This hotel needs some TLC.
Where do I start? Book somewhere else; I booked through a travel site, for $70 less than the published rate. I booked a room with double beds. I did this because $210/nite for a standard room was ludicrous - especially for this property as you need to go through several construction detours to get there. When I arrived, they had me in a king room, I showed where I had reserved a double, but they are sold out of doubles... So the clerk calls the manager, Eddie, to see if he can put us in a suite, which has a sofa bed - nope, Eddie says. Mind you, it's after 11pm local time, so they're probably gonna book those up any minute.... Right? Then the third-party credit card won't run, so we get to wait around in the lobby while the clerk calls to clear it up. No worries, we've only been in the car 11 hours today... Finally get a room key, and I get some extra blankets and pillows so I can make the second bed on the floor, so that was nice. My honest review? There's a lot of places that won't make you sleep on the floor, and for less money. Stay in one of those places, not here. The GM responded, some canned response including "I've talked to my staff" and "sorry, but you used a 3rd party site" - not "I'm sorry that you had to sleep on THE FLOOR" or "let's make this right" - I did consider grabbing her card during this fiasco, but after the other Manager hid behind the clerk to refuse me service, I figured this is about how it would be handled... Just know that your issues will get the same zero-action response!
Im stay 4 nights. Front desk very friendly and helpful. Room clean, good spacious. Bathroom clean, Everything works in room. Wifi fast to work. Pool and hot tub clean. Breakfast amazing, good food and .Tha lady the breakfast amazing. Good location, safe and quiet.
Fronte desk very helpful and friendly. Room large everything work. Very clean Wifi very fast if you need to work. Great pack TV. Hot tub plus A very clean. Fitness center clean. Brekfast great, good options to start a day. Place very safe and quiet. I wiill be back and stay again
We checked in on a Thursday afternoon for a wedding nearby, I checked in at 4 but had to immediately leave to get to the rehearsal. I did use Priceline for my purchase of my 2 night stay, at 9pm when we were actually able to go back to the room with our stuff. When entering the room there was a stale old smoking smell in the room. Then after inspecting the room I found a stain that appeared to be blood on the bed. Immediately the room was not acceptable for my daughter and family to stay there. I found another hotel and we switched at 10pm that night, letting the front desk know that I had an issue telling him about the stain, and asking to be checked out. He said the “Manager” Eddie would be in the next morning at 530am and would call me. Friday morning when Eddie called I explained the situation, he said he would be willing to give us a refund for our 2nd night stay, however since I went through Priceline I would need to call Priceline to actually get the money. To make a long story short I called Priceline on Saturday before I left Tucson, after putting me on hold so they could call Best Western I was told Eddie said he couldn't give me a refund. Wow!! Ok, so on my way out of town I stopped by and spoke to Eddie, come to find out Eddie is not authorized to give refunds, Lisa the GM has to approve it who won't be in until Monday. So I do it all over again, on Monday just to hear that Lisa won't give me a refund as I declined for them to move me to another room (which no one ever offered, wouldn't have mattered as I had already booked another hotel in the area), but I DO NOT appreciate being lied to and that seems to be this hotels customer service MO. I have called the corporate office and they are now trying to help me resolve the issue.
This is a decent hotel which was clean and tidy. The room was a decent size and had all the amenities you could want. Easy access to the rest of Tucson despite the on going road works. The breakfast was good and had good hours of operation. Staff were always friendly and helpful.
I got this hotel on Priceline, so did not actually choose it up front. But it was supposed to be a 2-1/2 star hotel, in the same group with the nearby Holiday Inn. This Best Western should only be a 2 star at most. The room was clean enoubh, but definitely an older building and rooms. The free breakfast was also not a good as a Holiday Inn. Then on our second night there, we had the people in the room next to us yelling and banging doors and walls in the hall in their room for over 2 hours in the middle of the night. I called the front desk, and while the volume went down a bit, it still continued. I complained the next morning but the front desk person didn't have much to say. Next time I'll pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.
I stay here on average 3-4 times a year, and each time its AMAZING! Eddie and Maribel at breakfast are amazing! Thanks for always being amazing!! Also about 15 minutes from Saguaro National Park which is why I visit Tucson so often, I wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Greatest variety of complimentary breakfast items of any like place I have stayed at in Tucson. Very clean place, clean and comfortable rooms that are well maintained. Would benefit from a complimentary Happy Hour.
We were in Tucson to help my sister who had lung cancer. Eddie and the staff here were very helpful and helped me through a bad time. Eddie was extremely helpful in extending our stay for an additional 6 nights so I could take care of my sisters affairs. The hotel was full almost every night so parking was a slight problem some nights. The rooms are very clean and breakfast was good and the beds are comfortable. The ladies who take care of the breakfast room do a great job and there were extra tables in the lobby so seating was never a problem. We have been coming to Tucson for over 40 years and our stay here was one of the best. There is road construction nearby but this was never a problem and guests seem to get in and out just fine. There is also a Denny's next door for lunch or dinner.
only draw back was construction on the roads around the hotel, but it was not that hard to figure out how to get to the hotel. Breakfast was very good for this type of hotel. Room was clean and hotel staff were friendly
The Ina Rd. overcrossing is currently closed, which makes getting to this property a bit difficult, but it's worth it - add 10 minutes to your travel estimate due to the weird way the road is set up. And then prepared to have a great experience. It would be nice, especially on weekends, if breakfast could go until 10 rather than being cut off at 9, but if you get there on time it's a good one, with freshly-prepared hot dishes and a great selection of other breakfast items. No "continental" breakfast here! The room was adequately-sized, but there was no place to put our suitcase but the bed (sometimes my wife likes to live out of the suitcase), not even the typical fold-up stand that many hotels have. The property faces a TraveLodge to its "rear," and the parking spaces are split by side by the properties; those spaces on that side almost always have some open, and there is a gate which brings to to the elevator lobby access via a night-locked outside door (room key opens it).
Nice property Great beds. Right next to I-10 but amazingly quiet. Almost no freeway noise. Eddie at front desk is great. Handles everything. Standard motel breakfast. Seating a bit tight. Good mountain views from most top floor rooms.
I give this hotel a gold star for cleanses. Halls, elevator, room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful but not special. Just the average. Table lamp is just above a candle light and closet is goofy. Getting to the hotel can be tricky as they are working on the highway and Ian exit is closed. Service road also looks closed but is assessable. Would not want to arrive in the dark. Rooms facing east or to the highway does have some noise but not unbareable.
Best value in Tucson during gem & mineral show. Rooms were nice, clean and modern. We'd recommend a few things to make them even better - fix loose tile in bathroom, reduce hot water temperature and serve breakfast til 10am on weekends. Front desk and breakfast staff were exceptional.
Called motel and got room, but was not told about the construction around motel. Went several miles and quite some time late at night to get to motel. Plus the room we had must have been a smoking room at one time. It smells like a dirty ash tray. Every time the heater kicked on the terrible smell was pushed throughout the room.
We stayed here coming and going during the Christmas holiday. Our king bed was clean, comfortable. The desk person helpful and efficient. The breakfast was adequate motel food. The room rate very reasonable. We've stayed here many times because it is close to I-10 and we're always satisfied. The motel staff or google maps will guide you through the road construction. Denny's restaurant is next door so you don't have to drive all over looking for food. The bathroom counter area is small. A refrigerator kept our ice chest food cold. This motel is beginning to show a little wear but not enough to stop me from staying there. When the road construction is completed I think this will be an ideal place for an overnight stay.
The hotel was attractive on the outside and inside. Right off the highway, 15 minutes from the Mesa airport. The front staff at check in and check out were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. Two King beds was a bonus for my sister and I, although they were a little hard.
I had to stay in Tucson for business and this was the only hotel contracted with my work in the area. Getting to the hotel was a little bit of a pain due to road construction but that is not the hotels fault. The check in was fast and the desk clerk was helpful. Room was nice, a little dark and dated but pretty much hotel standard. Bathroom was very small but it worked for me that I was by myself. The bed was old and I had trouble sleeping but I have a bad back and am picky about hotel beds. It was not something that would prevent me from staying there again. When I woke up I planed on going to Denny's for breakfast but once I saw the breakfast at the hotel I changed my mind. Lots of choices and not all carbs. The first day they had breakfast sandwiches and the second day cheese omelettes. This one thing made the stay really nice. I would definitely not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
I've been staying at the Best Western Gold Poppy Inn in Tucson for a number of years now, and I'm never disappointed. The friendly and helpful staff, the clean and comfortable rooms, and the delicious breakfast each morning help make my stay in Southern Arizona very pleasant indeed. If you're looking for a nice motel room at an affordable price, and one that's right off Interstate 10 and close to many of Tucson's attractions, look no further than the Best Western Gold Poppy Inn.
One of the worst BW I have ever stayed at . Beds are in poor shape, the breakfast was awful eggs looked like pancakes, potatoes were dry. The whole motel needs to be updated. I stay at BW at least 12 times a year.
The exit off the I-10 is still closed due to the construction of a new exit but it's worth going through the hassle to get here. This property is a hidden gem in the desert. It's close to lots of things and the staff is top notch. It's clean and quiet. If you get hungry in the middle of the night there is a Denny's next door. IT JUST WORKS!!
We ended up at the Best Western after discovering the neighboring hotel we checked into had terrible A/C. It being a hot Arizona summer, we had to get out of there. Thankfully the Best Western had vacancy and WONDERFUL A/C! The employee who checked us in was so friendly and our room was fantastic. The bed and linens were comfortable, the shower was great and we didn't sweat to death! The room was very quiet and we didn't notice any hall or neighboring room notice whatsoever. We enjoyed the breakfast the next morning, although the room is rather small and gets pretty cramped during prime breakfast feasting hours. I would suggest going early! We will definitely stay here again if we have the need.
Great rooms, great, polite and friendly staff. Loved the chocolate chip cookies in the eve. Quiet location a restaurant two doors away. Rooms are very nice, quiet, and look newly remodeled. Very very nice. Be aware there is currently road construction in the area. Detour takes you through a very beautiful area.
I had stopped using Best Western over the years as they seemed to be in decline. This Motel changed that. The room are updated, clean, large TV, perfectly situated to watch from bed or at the desk. The desk is outfitted with plenty of outlets for my many devices. Internet is high speed, excellent for my needs. Not a gamer though.Breakfast was plentiful, a large selection and comfortable seating. I didn't use the pool or exercise equipment.
Room was clean area is under construction breakfast had bacon and sausage. Staff was friendly and recommended a place too eat that was very good. would give a better rating except for the construction. great location for the Saguaro National Park.
The hotel was a great value, very clean. Hotel staff was very helpful with directions. Snacks, beverages were in the lobby. Breakfast was good. The location was very convenient to the University. I would stay here again.
hotel was very good near everything right off highway there was a lot of constuction at the time we where there peaple where very nice a lot of places to eat tucson is just down the highway everything was easy to get to
Love the poppy inn. If you travel to Tucson or Marana areas. This is a good place to be . For value. Location and awesome staff. Very friendly service. Willing to go out of their way for you. Good breakfast. And internet service.
much more hotel-like than most Best Westerns, nice property, very friendly and helpful staff. the traffic and roads around the hotel are a complete mess. All four of us had a pleasant stay. Would stay here again
The room and hotel were fine ... nice people, helpful people, clean and comfortable room, good breakfast. The only problem was that there has been construction going on for months (years?) and there is poor signage to get you to the hotel. You would be better off to call the hotel in advance and get driving directions ... don't trust your Garmin on this one. It is frustrating to see your hotel and not know how to get to it. Other than that, everything was great.
I-10 is under construction which makes getting to the motel more involved, however BW gives you very good written instructions how to get there. Be sure to call the motel directly for these. We also watched as the front desk "talked" a customer in to the BW by phone. The room was a little small but it was okay. There was a hot breakfast (not cooked to order) but nothing more than typical carbs. The first room we were put in had an issue with the smoke detector. The second room was okay. There is a Denny's within walking distance which was good as we didn't want to drive through the construction again. This is okay for one night, but I'd look for something different for an extended stay.
We stayed four very pleasant nights here. The staff were excellent. The property was clean. The beds were great. There is ample parking. There is an unheated pool suitable only for polar bears and kids under 8yr of age. The hot tub and lounging in the sun made up for the cold pool. We did our laundry at a neighbour property, which was 20 yards away. There is a Denny's also within walking distance. Ten minutes up the road is a golf course, called Quarry Pines. It is a great diversion and a challenging course. Finding the hotel is not simple but it is not difficult. The only negative is seating is tight around 08:30 in the breakfast room as the free meal ends at 09:00hrs. Breakfast was good and the property tried to vary the selection between days. I have stayed in maybe 200 different BWs and this one of the better ones. Enjoy.
Due to construction the hotel is difficult to reach. One can see it from far away, but finding a way in is challenging. Until recently the hotel had been conveniently located on a freeway frontage road. But the freeway is being widened. The frontage road is gone. Access is through a competitor's parking lot. My stay was uneventful and reasonably quiet - because I was on the backside. The freeway side would be noisy. Something annoying - cable TV is censored. No PBS.
Stayed at the Golden Poppy on the 20th and 21st of February...One of the cleanest hotels that I ever stayed at...The desk was very nice and the staff very friendly...When passing through Arizona, I will stay there again...Great value for your money!
We were coming from the Arizona Desert Museum . We had a hard time finding the hotel (even using GPS) due to massive construction in the area. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told a lot of people had the same problem. The construction is no to be finished until the end of 2018. The front desk was cordial and checked us in quickly. The room and breakfast were adequate. The only restaurant nearby for dinner was Denny's.
First I have to say staff were great, very friendly, but they couldn't get me warm water in the morning. I was told there were other rooms around me that also experienced this problem (first floor) and I was told when too many people shower at once, there is a problem. My recommendation is they should set up an appointment system for showers. That way everyone can have a hot shower. The alternative is either pretend you are in the military to enjoy a cold shower or find another hotel that provides enough hot water for all the rooms (which is basically every other hotel I have been to). Everything else at the hotel was good. It was quiet in spite of the freeway next door. They have a full free breakfast that was decent. Very clean attractive room.
The hotel was clean and well managed. The property is getting a bit dated, but is well kept up. There is difficulty accessing the property because of drawn out construction, but the hotel has no control over this. That provide a list of alternate routes when you check in.
Didn't know all exits off IH 10 near this Motel were closed until after I booked a room. Could not cancel. Pulling a trailer, limited parking. Motel was clean and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast ok. Reasonable rate for the area. Only place to eat nearby is a Denny's. Won't bother to rate that but if you're looking for a job you might check with them.
In spite of the road construction we were very impressed with the Gold Poppy. Room was clean and included a microwave and refrigerator. Closet is super small. Staff is awesome! Very friendly and helpful. Daily breakfast included variations and not all 4 mornings we were there were exactly the same. Always waffles, cereal, bagels eggs either scrambled or folded into omelets.Biscuits and gravy were very good and we're served 2 of the 4 mornings of our stay. Pool cold this time of year, jacuzzi was nice as well as the small but adequate exercise room. Internet was good. We would most certainly stay again.
This hotel was just fine. It has an outdoor pool. There was a good breakfast and a nice breakfast room. The bathroom needs updating, but otherwise king bed room was nice. Front desk staff was friendly.
Most of the towns I visit are very rural, or I would have stayed at a Best Western in all of them business Lack of maps because of construction was the biggest problem. I work with very rural high schools, usually less than 300 students.
This hotel has wonderful staff, clean rooms and a nice full breakfast and warm cookies and coffee in the evening. The construction on the interstate makes it a little tough to get to but you won't be disappointed. We always stay here on our way to Ft. Worth.
Don't let the road construction deter you. This is a decent clean comfortable motel that we have used several times for a very reasonable rate. We found it easily enough in the dark using phone app map. Next to restaurant for dinner and breakfast provided, though I've had better. Did not use other amenities. Have given up on “free WiFi” for any motel as my mobile provider is better.
Thought we were booking directly with Best Western but ended up on a site called: getaroom.com. They are working with an outdated data base and didn't tell us that Exit 248, I-10 WAS CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS....has been for about a year!! We are two handicapped senior citizens wandering around trying to find this place :-( Not only is their info outdated but they charged us $40.36 in FEES. Hotel was okay once we found it-took us close to an hour driving on dark streets to find a street that would take us to right side of the highway. This hotel is nothing special and not worth the trouble of trying to find it...find another hotel and book it directly!
Except for road construction on US 10 (overpass & on/off ramp access) it was a great place to stay. Staff was very helpful. (Giving directions around construction.) The hair dryer was not in good working order. (Sometimes it worked sometimes it did not.)
Stayed here for 5 days, and had no issues. Staff was always friendly, and quick to assist. Room was clean and comfortable, with fridge and microwave. Hot breakfast was different every morning, and they always kept it stocked. Even had coffee and hot and cold water in the lobby all day/night, which was very nice. To the reviewer who said it took their GPS an hour to find a way there due to construction (ramp closed) might want to get a new one. We used Google Maps and had no issues locating the hotel, since it knew the exit was closed and automatically took us a different way. Heard no construction noise during our stay.
This facility is located at Exit 148 on I-10 in Tucson. Exit 148 (in both directions) is closed for highway construction. The Best Western general reservation information about Poppy Gold DOES NOT mention anything about the closure. Nor, when making a reservation through the Best Western system are you advised of the problem regarding access to the property. Because of the various blocked roads related to the construction it took our GPS an hour to find a way to Poppy Gold, which is a nice facility with very pleasant staff and excellent breakfast room. Best Western should be ashamed of itself for not providing this necessary information about the access problems. Yes, the Poppy Gold Home Website mentions the problem but if you are using the Best Western System you do not get to the Poppy Gold site. Best advice is BE AWARE of Best Western.
The night clerk was fantastic from making reservation and giving me the directions to property the easiest way as family had me getting off Sunset handing west (north) and driving miles. The gentleman told me to continue to Cortaro Rd past the motel and head south on frontage Rd, saved a lot of time. Thank you, never got your name and you even put my directions ahead of people standing there, what an angel! Showed up at 1 pm, check in isn't till 2. Asked front desk, Eddie, if room was ground or located by elevator as husband is handicapped. No, at end of hall on 3rd floor, he checked with housekeeping and reassigned us to a rm next to elevator and let us check in. Room was fantastic! Just need a different office chair at desk as it's low but got use to height. Love the little night lights on the switches as I forgot mine and was amazed when I had to, you know, in the middle of the night. Started walking and bam a nice little light not blinding, just guiding!! All channels on tv, nice! Micro, fridge and coffee maker in room! Shelf by sink to keep counter clear!!! Love this place, nice people, good humor, nice smiles, excellent directions to where I needed to go!! (Need another baggage cart.) Comfortable bed and nice tv! Fantastic staff with a Good sense of humor and fun!!! Wish you All a Great & Merry Christmas!!! You helped mine!
The general manager of this hotel went above and beyond for us. Our online reservation went astray. Hence when we arrived we were not expected. The road in was all under construction and fining our way in the dark in a strange location was not easy. We were given a room at a great rate. Unfortunately when I contacted member services about their reservation system I got the distinct impression that they did not care. On 3 separate stays the hotel did not know I was going to be a guest! I my mind this is unsatisfactory
We were pleased with our stay at this Best Western. Check-in and check-out were handled with speed and efficiency. The staff was very pleasant. Our room was clean and comfortable. Would have been nice to had a chair for relaxation other than the one at the desk. The breakfast room had a large hot and cold selection. All aspects of the hotel were clean.
Try to stay at the Gold Poppy Inn EVERY time we visit Tucson/Marana. Even though there is construction, we find the hotel very welcoming, comfortable, and most importantly safe. The staff goes above and beyond, the breakfast is very delicious and filling, and the workout room is great.
My husband used a member benefits voucher to pay for this room. Unfortunately the front desk was clueless about redeeming vouchers, did not refer to their Resource Guide for instructions and I am now trying to get the charge for the room reversed from our credit card. The air/heat ventilation unit was extremely noisy and woke him up each time it went on or off. However the room was clean and pleasant and the bed was comfortable. The location is not good at this time due to major freeway construction so unless you really know your way around northwest Tucson, I do not recommend it. If it weren't for the freeway construction I would consider it an excellent location.
My impression of the BW Poppy Inn is one of friendly staff and clean rooms. The breakfast was very good, and the ladies servicing the dining area were attentive and personable. Overall, I think it is an excellent value.
From the front desk person at check in to the rest of the staff. All were more than friendly and always asked if I needed any assistance. Comp breakfast was very good also. Very comfortable bed. Would not hesitate to visit again.
Third time I have stayed at this hotel -great place. Good breakfast. Very nice staff. I like the Ina Road and Cotaro Road restaurants.Best Westerns use cleaning fluids that for me have low odor and don't give me any problems with my allergies.
We try to stay @ BW hotels . This hotel is older . It's tucked between a Tavel Lodge. Looking @ it from outside it does not present well & upon entering the lobby is small. The location access presently is not the best due to construction . The hotel is inexpensive, very clean. The staff very friendly & helpful. The room very presentable & the bed comfortable . The breakfast room is small but nice.
The rooms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was decent as well. There was a misunderstanding on the bill on my end but the front desk clerk was very nice and explained it to us.
Would absolutely stay here again! Great location, helpful and friendly staff. Only recommendation, pillows are a little small so if you like pillows bring one. Don't let the construction around deter you, it's not an inconvenience.
Nice clean hotel, friendly staff very comfortable beds happy hour was a plus grounds don't offer much but overall it's a nice place to stay. Very convenient and close to the border which is one of the main reasons people stay here.
Overall good experience and great value. The only thing was construction on the roads entering the hotel diverted traffic and was a pain. I would recommend hotel, breakfast was great with multiple choices. Saves money getting free breakfast and coffee. Plus the staff was great, I would stay again!
This BW is dealing with a freeway off ramp access closure. If you are arriving in the dark it is almost impossible to find a way there. GPS direction are a nightmare. We were lucky to find a frontage road that got us near the BW and were lucky enough to talk with a local police officer who was parked nearby. He even offered to escort us to the hotel. How cool is that. He said the freeway remodel has been a major problem for travelers as well as the the local businesses. Suggest calling the hotel directly to get current information and directions -- DON"T RELY ON YOUR GPS
I've been staying at Tucson's Gold Poppy Inn for the past four years, and have never been disappointed. The proximity to Interstate 10, and the closeness and easy driving distance to many of Tucson's main attractions, help make the Gold Poppy Inn my hotel of choice when vacationing in Southern Arizona. The friendly and helpful staff, the clean and well appointed rooms, the delicious breakfast every morning, and the reasonable rates make the Gold Poppy Inn my home-away-from-home each time I'm in Tucson.
Friendly staff, good breakfast, refrigerator with freezer compartment in room, clean and comfortable. They will send helpful directions to the hotel while the Ina Road exit is undergoing construction.
I had to tell one of the employees three times that my rewards points were to be charged for my stay and not my credit card. He seemed confused. OMG Ina Rd being torn up makes it EXTREMELY difficult to navigate. Luckily I live in Tucson and know my way around. I feel bad for those traveling through.
Just stayed here for a long weekend in Marana area. Very clean and quiet place despite major road construction (not hotel's fault). Staff is friendly and accommodating. Close to shopping and restaurants on Cortaro Road without all the traffic congestion in that area.
Hotel was clean, quiet. Breakfast was hot, lots of choices, good. Enjoyed my stay. Construction has exit blocked off I-10 at Ina Rd but used Siri and had no problems getting there. Felt safe. TV was a little limited but ok.
Rooms way too small, many issues in room .(stains on sheets, leaky faucet, wet Floor) (LOTS OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION GOING ON) Not the best location. Breakfast not so good. Comfort Inns much nicer. We use Best Western a lot but this was not the standard that we expected.
Clean, professional, affordable. It is little bit of a shlep off the fwy and there is currently a lot of construction around the hotel (sept 2017) but that's not the hotel's fault. Looking at the map you think it's right off the fey but you drive a bit to get to it.
Very comfortable hotel, even with massive construction taking place. Friendly staff. The suite was wonderful. Breakfast had a variety to choose from, and delicious. The welcome bag was an added and unexpected bonus.
This property just keeps on being SUPER! The staff is always very professional and go our of their way to help. The property is well-maintained and clean. It's a little tricky to get there right now with all the road construction but well worth the little bit of inconvenience.
My Husband and I was on vacation and on our trip home we decided to stay at BW, we received a great price and as a reward member, the discounts were applied. I was very satisfied, the full breakfast was a big plus and was very fresh.
Stayed here for two nights on business and was very pleased. Checked in very late and the clerk was very pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean and up to date. The wifi was fast and solid. The day shift staff were super pleasant and the breakfast was great. This is my choice hotel in the Tucson area.
Call hotel to avoid construction and they will provide very good directions. Overall was a good nights rest. If you dont mind microwaved food, breakfast was good. I would recommend this as a good place to stop for the night.
In spite of the road construction this is still a good choice. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The breakfast is very good with multiple choices available as well as a little variety from day to day. This is my second stay in this motel and I will stop here again when I return to the area.
This is THE place to stay in Tucson. I've stayed here several times, and will again and again. The staff is courteous and know their jobs, and the hotel is clean and provides all the services you would want. Convenient restaurant right next door.
We were traveling cross country and had a bad experience at a Best Western in Las Cruces the night before. This hotel was a completely different experience. There is major road construction nearby making access difficult. Since I had a reservation, I received an email the day before explaining the detour route to get there. The hotel is fairly new and is very good shape. Our room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. AC was nearly silent and very effective which was important, since it was 112 when we arrive. It's right off the freeway in North Tucson, and either in or adjacent to the town of Marana.
not a bad stay, late check in and access was a bit hard due to construction on the roads breakfast was a bit dry on the eggs. It could be better everything else was ok a better selection of fruit would help other than that the staff was great and helpful
Difficult to get to this hotel due to road construction, Google maps essential for advice to get here. Busy railway at the back of hotel and US trains are long. Usual house style of brown and cream. Reception staff very helpful. The only place I stayed at in my trip that had iced water available in reception to fill up my water bottle for the morning - and good cookies. Breakfast included, not too exciting buta good variety to satisfy
Most Best Western hotels are good. The Best Western Gold Poppy on Ina Rd is an excellent choice. The rooms are in good repair and clean. The young lady at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately for the hotel there is road construction in work which closed the exit normally used for Ina Rd. It really is not hard to take the next exit and follow the frontage road back to the hotel, but it has apparently cut into their occupancy. If you plan to be through the area, take advantage of the construction and stay at a nice hotel which is very quiet during the road construction.
Friendly staff and nice accommodation. This was our first time staying at the Best Western Gold Poppy Inn. I would differently stay there again. The room was clean and up to date and the parking lot is well lit.
Hotel is some 15 miles away from downtown but next to the Saguaro National Park. Due to the giant construction work on I10 and the closed ramps and exits the hotel is difficult to access. I would not expect that to improve before 2018. The hotel itself is very well maintained, clean and at least the rooms look modern and stylish. Although Interstate 10 runs in front of the compound my "standard room" with fridge and microwave was pretty quiet. Hotel staff is friendly and professional. Complimentary coffee, ice water and really delicious cookies are served in the lobby. WiFi works perfect, parking is free of charge. After all a good value for the money spent.
I definitely recommend the Gold Poppy Inn for anyone planning a business or leisure trip to Tucson. Clean and well-appointed guest rooms, a knowledgeable and friendly staff, a delicious hot breakfast each morning, and close proximity to many of Tucson's attractions make the Gold Poppy Inn an excellent destination for travelers.
This was an amazing Best Western, the front desk employee was so nice he was exceptional. The room was luxurious from the furniture to the window treatments. It was so very quiet even though it's right next to the highway that is under a massive construction project. The bed was super. I had an amazing stay here and left refreshed. There was hot coffee available even at 1AM.
This hotel was advertising as a Best Western Plus instead we paid a steep price for a Best Western Minus! The surrounding hotels were in better shape for 1/2 the price. The online price was double the walk-in price. TERRIBLE!
We spent 2 nights here in April while visiting saguaro national park . The location was great for us lots of restaurants near by. We were very happy with the room and the checkin and out service was flawless.
The intersection on Interstate 10 at Ina Road is being completely rebuilt. It is easy getting onto I-10 going south but takes several extra miles to return to motel. Room very nice except carpet needs cleaning.
Okay, let me start by saying I have stayed here twice during gem week and I actually came back the second time because the biscuits and gravy were so good. Really, they are really good--and I consider myself to be a foodie. The location is quiet and there has been construction issues--but road construction is not their fault. I would say the price of a room during gem week is a little high--but then there are the biscuits and gravy to consider. I stayed here on the way through from San Francisco and it was the same quiet place but no biscuits and gravy the morning I was there. Too bad, I still enjoyed my stay.
We could see the hotel from the freeway, but it took 20 min to get there because of constructions & bad signage & NO directions from the hotel staff. The room smelled funny, so we opted to go out for a movie rather than sit in a stinky room. Yuk !
Last minute booking. Very friendly greeting, great room. We had a king suite with a separate bedroom, bath room and living room. Also had a wet bar with a refrigerator. Only two stories and parking near room. Breakfast was good.
I was in the hospitality industry for several years and have my own "white glove" inspection routine. You can tell a lot about a facility by looking at little-noticed aspects such as if there's dust on the window sill, A/C vents/louvers and top of the headboard and picture frames. Things like that tell a lot about the attitude of management and housekeeping concern insuring an optimal guest experience. This facility passed all with flying colors! The room was well-appointed, bed linens were clean and spotless, the A/C and wi-fi (password secured--thank you!) worked perfectly. Negatives? Well, okay--one of the lamp shades was slightly tilted. Breakfast was very good--a nice surprise. This morning there were plain and veggie scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and waffles. There's also an assortment of the usual continental breakfast items--bread, sweet rolls, cereal, etc. The coffee, by the way, is better than in most restaurants. In addition, cookies, tea and coffee are available in the lobby around the clock. I must compliment two employees who exemplify the best in guest care. The first is Ty. When I arrived in Tucson, there was major highway construction and the exit to the hotel was closed. I wandered around, trying to find a back route, but to no avail. I called the hotel and Ty directed me from my location to the hotel. He was extremely kind, patient and exact in his directions. His manner in person was equally friendly and pleasing. Thanks, Ty--wouldn't have gotten here without you! The other employee is Eddie. He maintains the breakfast room and does it exceptionally well. He was in and out frequently, checking if more food was needed and cleaning tables and counters. When he first entered he gave me a big smile and a genuinely warm welcome. When I was "in the business," as they say, I would have given anything to have Eddie in my employ. Dedication and care shown by both Ty and Eddie raise this hotel to meriting a five-star review. They made it worth navigating through the hassle of highway construction to stay here. I'm looking forward to returning in a few weeks when I make my way back home.
This Best Western is very average, nothing exceptional, but fine for a short stay. The problem we had was finding the hotel. Both southbound & northbound exits to Ina Road are closed due to road construction which will last quite a long time. You have to exit at Cortaro Road but then we went the wrong direction and had to call the hotel for directions. Traffic is terrible at Cortaro Road intersection with I-10. Once we reached the hotel you have to go through Travelodge to get to Best Western. The check-in was efficient and courteous. Coffee and cookies are available in the lobby. The room was clean and satisfactory. However, the bathroom sink is very low, not good for a taller person. The hotel is smoke free and was quiet. The breakfast was good with the usual choices. The hotel location is not very good because there is nothing within walking distance, you need to go back to Cortaro Road for shopping & restaurants. Once the road construction is finished, it should be fine. If you are not familiar with the area, it is recommended you call the hotel for directions.
I gave this hotel (it's really a motel) a "very good" strictly because of the value, although the service, the breakfast and the cleanliness were comparable to any of the roadside hotel chains. Still, it's a re-modeled older motel, with small rooms, small hallways, low ceilings, etc. But, the price for a night or two on the road is extremely reasonable.
Even with road construction all around it, Gold Poppy Inn is still a great place to stay. It is easy to get in and out of even with the mess of building a new interchange for the interstate right outside its door. You don't hear any noise and even though getting there and getting out of there SEEMS daunting, it isn't. Looking for a quiet, CLEAN and well staffed place to stay in NW Tucson, this is the place.
The Best Western recommend by American Legion and Best Western succeeded in all expectations. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was hot and good. If we are back in Tucson again will definitely stay here again.
The first time we stayed we actually left another hotel because the handicap accessibility was an issue. We have stayed in both of the accessible rooms at the Gold Poppy Inn and both worked very well for my husband who uses a wheelchair. Because we've made several trips to Tucson recently, we are thrilled we found this hotel! It is clean, the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast selection provides many options of great tasting food. Maribel greeted us with a smile every day at breakfast. She keeps the dining area clean and well stocked. She and the rest of the staff make staying there such a pleasant experience! All of the employees are friendly, hard working and very accomodating! I like the location because it is next to I-10 which is very convenient. The windows are well insulated so you don't hear noise from the express way or construction in the area. After a long day it was nice to come back to the hotel and enjoy complimentary cookies and a warm beverage. We will stay at this hotel whenever we visit Tucson and would highly recommend it.
My wife and I had to be in Tucson in the second week of November 2016. We stayed at the Best Western Gold Poppy Inn and had one of the most rewarding hotel experiences of our many years of travel. The staff as well as the hotel condition and amenities were as terrific. The location just off Ina Rd. and the I-10 freeway was very good for us as it made the activities we participated in very accessible. I would recommend this Best Western of anyone considering a trip to the Tucson area.
Only draw back of my stay was was construction on Ina road. Staff was very helpful throughout mystay and was given a late check out of 12:00 upon request. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will be back...
The BW Plus Gold Poppy Inn is located a few miles north of downtown Tucson. That suited us just fine because it was conveniently close to Saguaro National Park (Western Section) and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. If you need a restaurant there are plenty nearby. The room was comfortable - clean, good bed, bathroom clean and in good condition. The air conditioner was a little noisy. The staff we met were very friendly and helpful Yes, I'd stay there again.
Everything was perfect! Good location right off the freeway. Quiet. I liked that it was close to a Denny's and parking was easy even with me pulling a trailer! Breakfast was also a plus. Bed was comfy. What more could I ask? And the price was right. Thanks!
3 women traveling with livestock. We wanted a safe and secure place located conveniently off the I-10 and we found the perfect place. Staff was accommodating and pleasant we all got a good nights rest and the breakfast was great.
Just like our other stays at Best Western hotels, we had a comfortable, pleasant experience. This hotel is near the freeway but we couldn't hear it in our room and the hotel was clean and well run. Loved free coffee and cookies on arrival. Good value for your traveling dollars!!
We stayed here for two weeks. Staff always friendly. Good breakfast. Clean rooms. Very good bed. We really enjoyed our stay. Hotel is next to the I10 freeway, so you can quickly be on your way. From Ina road you can also easily get across to the Saguaro National Park, and Tucson mountain park. There is a Dennys within walking distance. Shops and other restuarants within a few miles.
Good BW plus property. Did not have any problems other than the construction getting into the property. They are redoing Ina Road and traffic can be an issue. Breakfast was good, I have had better at other BW properties.
The rooms were large modern and clean. The staff was friendly. Pool well maintained. The hot breakfast was good. Liked the convince of the location in Tucson. The price was about average. We'd stay there again.
This hotel is economically priced. It is clean and quiet. The breakfast that is part of the package has a nice variety of food items. The hotel staff were helpful with our questions regarding places to see and where to find dinner. I would recommend this to visitors to the area.
I brought a bus tour of senior citizens, 45 in all, and our experience was in every way a very positive one. I didn't have a single complaint from any member of the group and several made very positive comments about the night spent here.
This property just never ceases to amaze me. There it is, hidden behind the berm of the freeway all quiet and clean. It has an OUTSTANDING staff who are always available to help in any way they can. It's a lot like coming home. If all properties were operated as well as the Gold Poppy there would never be a complaint from anyone.
The Best Western offers good rooms / beds and free hot breakfast at an affordable price. The location is convenient to the Interstate and area attractions. It is nice to also have free High Speed WIFI..
Check in and Check out were fine, but the amenities offered were poorly lacking to say the least, we had stayed in another Best Western the night prior in Showlow at the Paint Pony and had a similar although different experience. The breakfast at the Poppy in Tuscon was horrible, the eggs inedible, has-browns not cooked and the ham was packaged thin sliced sandwich ham left on the warmers turned horrible, unlike show low breakfast which was delish and edible from the eggs to the sausage and biscuits and gravy. They need to send staff there to see and experience the Best Western Pant Pony and how they manage there offerings, and get beds like the Holiday Inn that are comfy and offer a pillow exchange. The hallway smelled of URINE and the carpet in our room was so filthy one wore socks or shoes all the time. Very disappointing for this Best Western. Was unaware there was even a pool to enjoy we spotted after check out. Our bad I guess but would have been nice to be informed of it.
This is a good and economical hotel to stay at. I stayed for two nights. I had a limited amount of money. I appreciate the good breakfast and computers with Internet service. Hotel computers for guests were working properly. My room was cleaned well. I was treated Respectfully.
Just stayed there last night again. This is one of the best kept secrets around. It is clean, quiet, reasonably priced and the staff is just great. There is hot coffee, tea, hot chocolate and warm cookies available in the lobby in the evenings and the complimentary breakfast is all anyone could ask for. They even now have a sign that makes us who have to eat gluten free-happy! I know what I can eat there, but it is nice for those folks who have to eat gf to know the staff "gets it". It is wonderful to see Eddie at the front desk. I have known him for a couple of years from his being a room attendant and now he is very capably caring for folks at the front desk. Lisa, the GM, is just a delight. She is so warm and friendly. It is conveniently located to I-10 also.
In traveling for 2 weeks, we found this to be the BEST place we stayed in. The room was VERY comfortable, clean and peaceful. A pool and workout room provided those extra services for us; and the breakfast was outstanding, and hot. Great place to stay for a night or several nights.
Nathaniel greeted us warmly. Best Western is very lucky to have this gentleman. It being the end of July it was hot, 109 degrees. The pool sounded great but when we jumped in it was like bath water. That wasn't the hotels fault though. The evening cookies Nathaniel put out were very tasty and the kids enjoyed them. The room was as I would expect for a Best Western. Clean, bright, and the bed was very comfortable. I would stay again.
I booked this hotel after midnight for someone who got stranded at a gas station. The hotel staff was perfectly fine with my last-minute booking and that I was actually not staying at the hotel. They took care of the guest and he got a good night's sleep.
Hotel was priced right and in just the right location that I needed. Desk clerk and staff were all friendly and polite and helpful. Overall, a very good experience. I booked 2 rooms for my wife and I and our son and his wife and it was convenient that we could walk to a restaurant and also enjoy the pool area
Stayed here for two nights. It was very comfortable and had inside only access to the room. Cookies in the lobby was a great touch. Front desk staff was nice and helpful. I had an issue with my charge but the lady was very nice and calm as we dealt with it. Breakfast was hot and full and had enough choices. Room was clean and comfortable.
Front desk gal was absolutely wonderful, professional and makes the BEST Cookies! The room was clean, comfortable and quiet! The breakfast is truly great, you can make your own waffles with fresh (previously frozen berries) and lots of many other items that were great tasting, fresh, cooked to perfection! All except the juice - too much water and not enough juice, oh well, if that is the only not good thing - don't worry! We will stay here again and highly recommend everyone to stay here as well. Really like the "key" to the room.
excellent hotel, friendly staff and good location. Breakfast was above norm Would definitely stay again. The room was spacious and clean, quiet and affordable. Plenty of room for relaxing and moving around
This is the second time we have stayed here. It is right off the interstate and near shopping and restaurants. Staff is very professional and helpful and also friendly especially Maricella who made sure we were taken care of when we had breakfast. We stayed five days and each day there was a different hot breakfast selection. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable; not too firm or too soft. Rooms were noise proof. Didn't hear anyone else either time we were there. Just right! They have wonderful cookies, coffee and orange infused water every afternoon in the lobby. Can't say enough about how much we loved our stay. We highly recommend this hotel.
Nice clean lobby and rooms. They serve fresh cookies with coffee and water with orange slices in the lobby. Breakfast is delicious and they try to have something different everyday. Hotel is located close to several restaurants and shopping just the next exit over. About 30-40 minutes from Air Force base.
We stayed at the Gold Poppy for 3 nights. It was a great place to stay. It was clean, the staff was really helpful. We had a room on the third floor. It was really quiet. The breakfast was really good with eggs, sausage, potatoes, several toppings for the oatmeal, waffles. Every day day the egg selection was different. If we are in the Tuscon again we would definitely stay at the Best Western Plus Gold Poppy.
Have stayed here twice and loved it both times. Check in staff was very accommodating in getting my floor level room! Check out was fast and easy. Very quiet so very pleasant. Very comfy bed! Continental Breakfast available, works for basic breakfast. Denny's Restaurant within walking distance...
I definitely recommend the Gold Poppy Inn if you're planning a business or leisure trip to Tucson. The clean and well appointed rooms, friendly staff, reasonable prices, the proximity to Interstate 10, and closeness to many of Tucson's attractions, make for a very pleasant stay. I have stayed at the Gold Poppy Inn for several years, and I have never been disappointed.
We have stayed at Poppy Gold so often that it feels like we are visiting family as the staff is so nice and accommodating. We always stay here when in Tucson which is just about every month. It is in a very convenient location as well.
We enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay. The staff was friendly, rooms were clean, the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was hot and had a nice variety of options to choose from. We would definitely stay there again.
Affordable comfort with a caring attitude. Rooms were a great value with my AAA discount. Plenty of restaurant choices nearby. Comfortable rooms and more amenities that I counted on including fresh cookies, coffee and citrus water. I would stay here again gladly.
We spent a week in Tucson for a family wedding. The staff at the Gold Poppy Inn in Tucson was very efficient, helpful, and friendly. Our room and the hotel in general was clean and well maintained. The staff was continuously working to maintain the facilities.
Great place to stay. Staff was wonderful. Rooms were comfortable and clean.. Breakfast was hot and had great choices. Our evening meal at Licano's next door was exceptional as was the atmosphere. The hotel was just outside the city where there was shopping and tourist info. Would highly recommend!
clean room, caring staff good value for the money and breakfast was good too. For me was convenient to desert museum and biosphere2 and easy on easy of interstate 10 made day trips easy. When coffee machine broke on first day staff took initiative to find a source for all of us that found it difficult to start day without.
Very nice inside but very loud. The walls were paper thin. Don't go to bed before 10 and plan to sleep. It was very loud. This is a motel not a hotel. So there are no hallways While the room is non smoking, Plan on walking through smoke to get to your room. Not a return spot for rest overnight.
We have stayed at the Gold Poppy Inn two different times and both stays were excellent. The rooms are clean and nice and you couldn't ask for a nicer group of employees. The breakfast is wonderful and you even get cookies and coffee in the evening. I give it an A Plus
Checked in late, no problem. Check-in was smooth. Room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Room was big enough and well laid out. Room was maintained well during my stay. Staff was friendly and capable. The one poor gal trying to keep up with the breakfast was running her wheels off but did a great job. Food was good, decent selection. Fitness room was minimal, but clean and open. Only issues were minor. It's in a good location but tricky to get to the first time. Parking is a little odd but okay. No disinfectant or towels in the fitness room. Facility seemed pretty well kept up to me. I'd stay there again no question.
Hotel is in a good location if you are headed on to Phoenix since you avoid the Tucson morning rush hour. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast area is way too small for the number of people it is supposed to serve, but you will survive.
My ONLY complaint was the quality of comfort for the bed. EXTREMELY uncomfortable which is rare for a BWPlus. The pillows were super small and only 4 for a king sized bed. I usually want to strap the bed to the roof of my mini van but this time I couldn't wait to get home and sleep in my own bed.
The Best Western Gold Poppy Inn in Tucson, AZ is truly a hidden gem. The location might put off some people because it is located adjacent to the I-10, but it shouldn't. It is totally quiet inside the hotel. It is very convenient to other places to visit while in Tucson. The staff is ALWAYS pleasant and efficient. We stay here quite often and are never ever disappointed. Lisa, the GM, does such a great job. The little amenities in the lobby are a real plus. If you are looking for a pool in which to swim, however, this isn't the place for you. The pool is extremely small but who cares?
Enjoyed the room. Everything went well! Bed was comfortable. People very pleasant. Breakfast was good. Stayed three nights. Every evening I return to my room the bed was made and room pickup. Showers were hot and good water flow.
Plenty of room in the room. Super hot water for your shower. Awesome breakfast. Big fridge. Microwave. Super convenient because it's right off the I-10. Comfortable bed. Great place to stay when you travel to Tucson.
This hotel, even though it is right beside a interstate, is quiet and comfortable. the room was a nice size, the bed was firm but not to firm, the breakfast was good quality and the breakfast room was a good size, the pool was cool but the hot tub was nice and warm. want to come back next winter and stay here again.
Best part was nearby restaurants for dinner. A change fro being in the city center. We liked the location before we got to Tucson from Phoenix so we did not have city rush hour traffic after the drive on I-10 which is always heavy traffic.
We planned a stop here on our way to points south and we are very glad we did. We had previously stayed at another Best Western in Tucson last year and we were very disappointed with the accommodations there. They were not of the standard of this facility and the price was very inflated, This hotel is a bit out of Tucson but well worth the effort and is very clean and quiet with the signature great breakfast and comfortable beds and pillows. Treat yourself today!
This is a clean, decent hotel. The main thing that kept it from a higher rating in my book was the distinct, musty cigarette smell in the room. I was only there overnight and don't have allergies, so it wasn't worth changing rooms. But dang, the odor hit me the moment I opened the door. Otherwise, it's fine - clean, comfortable bed, breakfast and a cookie (or two!) included. Did notice some disrepair in the bathroom ceiling but nothing major (yet). It is located right off the I-10 freeway, but noise was not a problem. There are many budget hotels in the immediate area, so I didn't explore the neighborhood. For my purposes (business meetings on the north side of town and a conference in downtown Tucson) it was convenient. **Important: this hotel is quite a distance north of the downtown area, so if you're headed to Tucson for a downtown business only, there are probably better locations than this. I wouldn't recommend staying for more than a night. But if it's a quick trip, this is an affordable choice.
Our first night on the road and we stopped here. The motel was old but well kept. We were greeted warmly and found coffee, cold water and cookies in the lobby. Our room was ok. We had a king size bed and it was very comfortable. We slept well. The breakfast was the usual motel breakfast. The coffee was delicious. The food was good. There was fresh fruit with muffins and toast. I would definitely return of I'm ever in the area.
Definitely not 5 star resort, but a good comfortable room/bed., friendly & helpful staff and a very good selection of breakfast (hot / cold) foods. Although we experienced a few minor issue they were things that were easily / quickly addressed by the staff when they were made aware of the issues.
After a just okay stay in Texas the night before this was a treat. It was clean, comfortable and everything worked. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and they made sure everything was full. We will stay here again.
The bathroom fan comes on with the light switch in bathroom. Very LOUD and annoying. Won't stay at this place again because of this.. if watching the TV you could not hear it over the bathroom fan... The bed was very comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was the standard but ok; friendly staff
Spent the night here during the Tucson Gem show. Much nicer inside than the standard motel exterior would have you anticipate. Room was immaculate, bed very comfortable, staff extremely friendly. Breakfast had wide variety of offerings but the space was a little small for the crowd. Nice small pool and exercise room. Cookies and ice water in the lobby upon arrival. Next door to a Denny's and Circle K. Quiet and comfortable. No signs of bed bugs.
We stay at this hotel every year for business, it is always quiet and most important comfortable beds. I actually slept 7 and 8 hours per night and I never sleep over 6 even at home. Really good. The breakfast is comparable to other hotels, though the dining room is a bit small for all the guests. The internet came through clearly and fast, always a plus when you're monitoring work while away. Everything was clean and refreshed in a timely manner. We do recommend this hotel to everyone.
Stayed overnight to visit some Tucson attractions. We were concerned being so close to the freeway, but did not hear noise from it at all in the room. The room was clean, beds comfortable, bathroom/closet area quite small. Breakfast was very tasty, like homemade. The only negative was the noise level from the elevator, stair doorway banging, ice machine, people talking loudly all night. We had the last room available on the first floor, near the lobby and stairs, ice machine, etc. If we had been advised the room might be in a noisy location, we would have opted to go to the second floor. Lesson learned-don't stay near the lobby! Otherwise, would stay again!
Room was clean, bed was comfortable, location was great - took a nice short walk to the Harley shop. The breakfast was good too, like me some of them waffles in the AM. Pool and hot tub are outdoors, but it was too cool outside for them, this time of year.
All was ok, hotel had what we needed to rest up from being on the road. Good clean room. Wifi-Net seemed a bit slow but useable. Spa was very nice and easy to get to. Best Westerns in general seem to be better than we remember.
We are never disappointed in this property. We have to go to Tucson on a semi-regular basis to the doctor and we never consider staying anywhere else. We have begun staying in the suite lately and it is just really nice to have that extra room. The staff is very professional and friendly. The property is clean and if there is a problem it is taken care of promptly once the staff is notified.
We found it to be an adequate place to stay for a quick weekend trip to see family in the area. .The place was clean and quiet, bed was so-so This location met our needs for the price, you get what you pay for.
Very nice hotel. Location, price and easy to find, many stores and restaurants close by. Checking in and out went smooth. Room was spacious and well decorated. Thank you Best Western for a wonderful stay.
The facility was very nice. The only problem we had was a slow draining sink. The rooms were very nice. the breakfast was excellent. We never used the pool as it was cold at night. Would recomend this facility to my friends and family.
I'll forward photos to your Corp office We had to leave early, thinking we were having allergy issues. However, I'm convinced I am experiencing, symptoms of exposure to mold. Linens were drab & stained; no room in the closet; mold around the windows and paint chipping.
Reasonable rates, clean, Denny's Restaurant next door. A tricky driveway to get there off of I-10 eastbound. We've stayed there 4 times and always been satisfied. WiFi signal mediocre on the first floor.
We stayed here one night while visiting family. Clean, good value, decent breakfast and pleasant helpful staff. We arrived late and left early so we did not use any amenities. We would stay here again.
Well worth the money, friendly staff, very nice rooms and a well maintained facility.I would recommend this facility to anyone in the area as an excellent place to stay. Anytime I travel in this area i will be staying here again.
Everything was perfect. Staff was friendly and professional. Enjoyed my stay and will stay again. I called the front desk to ask for room availability and the front desk receptionist was very helpful in giving me information on getting a great deal.
Clean, spacious, helpful and courteous staff. Conveniently located near a diner, walking distance. Very near I-10, off the Ina Rd. exit, but move over to the right immediately and carefully, or you'll miss it.
This is our first stay at Gold Poppy Inn. The hotel is on the newer side, very clean, and well kept. The room was spacious and the decor was very nice. I think it was a good choice to stay there. It is very close to available restaurants and just minuets from downtown Tuscon even in rush hour traffic.
We have stayed here many, many times and it remains a great place. The staff is very helpful and the property is in a great location. They are working to make it more inviting now. Good job!! The lobby is much more inviting now as they now have cookies, hot chocolate, coffee, tea and condiments available in the evenings. In the past they just had some coffee and cookies off to one side, but now it is ON DISPLAY and very appealing.
We stayed here because of other reviews and we're very pleased with what we found. Very clean and comfortable. The gal at the front desk was very pleasant and check in wad easy. The breakfast offered was all good, especially the biscuits and gravy. I'd stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.
We travel a lot, and seldom stay in one place very long. Basically, a hotel room is where we sleep, shower, change clothes and leave! Best Western fits these needs. Just like a chain restaurant, you pretty well know what the standards are and can be fairly sure they'll be met. Sometimes there's an oddball place but in general, BW is consistently fine for us.
Being along the interstate, I was concerned that the heavy traffic would be a cause of a run down property, but not so!! This is a newly refurbished hotel & it has been beautifully done. The bed was too soft, and the train was louder than I thought it would be, but it was not too big an issure. I would stay there again!
As we were sightseeing in this area we stayed here. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate and great to start off the morning with. It is helpful when you do not have to go in search for breakfast.
We stayed for two nights and had no issues at all with this motel. The room was large and clean, the beds were comfy, the grounds and interior were well looked after. The hot breakfast was complimentary and very nice, the staff were friendly and even apologised for the noisy elevator. Next to the highway but didn't hear a thing. Would I stay here again - definitely. This is not a fault with this hotel but all hotels in USA seem to use disposable crockery and cutlery. It would be much nicer to use China. Would not stop me coming back here though
This hotel was very clean the staff was on top of everything and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling. I travel into Tucson at least once a month with my wife and she will not stay at any other hotel in the area. We travel four times a year and at our hotel stay we always use Best Western and if an upgrade is available they will move us up which I really enjoy.
Awesome place. This is where to stay in town. Everything was awesome and perfect. Very clean rooms, check in staff awesome. great location, and perfect for visits. Breakfast is very good and always kept fresh and full. Thee rooms have been remodeled recently and the grounds are kept spotless. This is by far the best one in Tucson area. Check out was fast and staff is awesome. Best kept secret in Tucson AZ. Everyone on the staff I met was very nice and helpful. Easy freeway access and by the new outlet malls and all brand new places to eat such as in n out chipolite, Chili's harkins theaters and many many more brand new mall is less then 3 miles away.every store you can think of is around this to include COSTCO. The state and national parks are very close. These parks are top notch and have all kinds of things to do. They all have hiking trails and one of a kind views. Outside of hotel looks brand new. parking lot is perfect. TV stations are plentiful and the big screen tv's are brand new.
Positive first - great staff, good breakfast, comfortable, but small room. Also had free newspapers and cookies in the evening. Always a plus for us. Our room was basically clean, but needed to have edges and corners cleaned more thoroughly. Lobby was nice, rooms were dated and in need of something? Our closet was probably the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel. Shower was okay. Next time will try a different BW in the area. While it was okay and very reasonable I didn't feel it merited being a Plus.
Only stayed overnight, but the facility was clean and beds are comfortable. Quick check-in. Location made it easy to access stores and restaurants. The pool and jacuzzi was excellent relaxation after a long day.
It's located next to a highway in some sort of budget hotel community. It's located around the back of a Travel Lodge. Room is old style, not too large, but clean. Breakfast offered fruit and cereal for me, other things for others (egg patties (?!), sausage, waffles, toast). It was appropriate for my few days here while trying to save some money. Staff is very friendly.
Exceptional Hotel ~ Reasonably Priced, Very Clean, Terrific Breakfast, and Hospitable Staff. What more could you ask for?! This is by far our favorite place to stay in the Tucson area. As Diamond members of the Best Western Rewards Program, the staff is always quick to upgrade us to a suite at no charge. We have found our home away from home in Tucson!
This is a very nice hotel, clean, extremely friendly staff, comfortable bed. Hotel location is beside I-10 so I suspect it can be noisy on that side, we requested a room on the opposite side of the freeway. Breakfast is limited for health conscious eaters.
How often have you been traveling at night, decide you need to stop for the night, only to meet with disagreeable night staff? Well that is NOT the case with Best Westerns Gold Poppy Inn. When we walked through the doors, we met Susy. We were tired after driving a little over 1,000 miles that day. She made us feel welcome and refreshed. It was so encouraging to see a smiling face and happy person. We checked into our King bed room and it was just lovely. Waking in the morning to a full hot breakfast buffet was glorious. The sausage and gravy biscuits were so good. There is a fitness center and a beautiful pool to top it all off. So if you are in the Tucson area and want to encounter a friendly face, make the Gold Poppy Inn your to stay at destination.
This motel was near where we had lived years ago. It's closeness was great because we could drive to everyplace we wanted to visit. The room was great. Bathroom clean and shower water pressure were good. Comfortable beds.
I definitely recommend the Gold Poppy Inn for the business or leisure traveler heading to Tucson. It's very clean, comfortable, and affordable, with a friendly and helpful staff. It's also located right off Interstate 10 and close to many of the Tucson area's attractions.
Very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this hotel. Check-in/out were done very fast and personnel was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Room quality was outstanding as well. We will definitely come back next time.
Good place to stay in Tucson. Good rate. Good location. Easy to get on and off interstate. Starbucks within walking distance. Rooms are nice and roomy. Plenty of parking. Breakfast has a variety. I recommend this motel.
Hotel is right off freeway making it very accessible for traveling. Loved it. Short walking distance to Denny's Restaurant too. Very nice and helpful staff at Hotel. Comes with free internet and breakfast. Both always a plus for me.
I found this hotel to perfectly suit my needs. I have no complaints. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room had everything I needed (king size bed, microwave, fridge). The hot breakfast was tasty. The pool & hot tub were clean.
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the past year for business reasons. Every time I stay at the Gold Poppy Inn, the employees are always respectful, helpful and will get you anything that you need. When in Tucson I will always stay at this hotel. I am very conformable here.
