The suite was clean and large. The front counter staff were very friendly and helpful. We were looking for a mobility accessible room because my wife and I cannot step over a tubs edge. Their room was already being rented. they found one of the suites had a stand up shower that worked perfectly. plus they gave me the rate for a regu;ar room. Very, Very Happy with this hotel. We highly recommend it.
Older hotel that has been renovated. Room was very clean and bed was comfy with good pillows. Hot tub was good. Only negative was that there was no breakfast at the hotel (at least during our stay), only granola bars and coffee were offerred. Staff was friendly and offerred good restuarant suggestions.
I enjoy staying at the hotel. Clean room. Staff was outstanding very friendly and helpful. Amenities were great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Average hotel, no breakfast. Steakhouse attached to restaurant very expensive. Location of hotel, Central close to other restaurants and craft bars.
"This concerns a misleading review about the hotel that inaccurately implicated me and contained false statements regarding my race. The review was posted under a pseudonym but, perplexingly, used my email address, which created the false account. It suggested that the hotel's employees had made discriminatory remarks about my race, which is entirely untrue. The account here on TripAdvisor was fraudulent, and the content of the review was fabricated. Both the account and the review have been removed, and my email security has been strengthened to prevent future misrepresentations." I have stayed here multiple times. I work for Messer and come to Trail twice a week, and it has always been pleasant. The beds are amazing, and the pillows are just as comfortable. Brandon has always been professional and courteous and even given me access to the gym after hours as I arrive at various times. All of the front desk staff are friendly and professional. Not once have I ever felt unsafe or in danger. I am only here for 10 hours, long enough to reset my clock as a truck driver; I load at Teck and then drive 11 hours home to Vancouver. So, my check-in and check-out times vary. I get my sleep break, and I leave. If you are ever in Trail, BC, and need a room, I suggest calling ahead and reserving your room, as this hotel fills up fast and for a reason. They provide exceptional services, and it shows.
There is literally no where else I would stay. I stay here for work have been here 3 separate times. The staff is amazing, truly amazing and the rooms themselves, well they are nicer than my house. If you happen on to Trail, BC look no where else, they truly look after everything
Overall good service and clean amenities. We stayed two nights on a business trip. Room was suitable, building warm and staff frieldly. Colton at the front desk rocks. Unlike other BW properties they did not offer a voucher in lieu of a second-day room tidy-up, and there was no complimentary breakfast. For the price paid, that would have been expected, as we are regular patrons of BW hotels. Otherwise, a fine experience.
We normally stay with family when we are in town but that wasn't possible this trip. The hotel was in a good location and the room was quite comfortable. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was very good. The front desk were very helpful and accommodating. Daily housekeeping would have been nice.
I can not say enough good things about this Best Western. I have stayed here multiple times and never had an issue. The staff are friendly and very helpful. There are several choices for restaraunts and snacks.
Don't be afraid to ask for things you might need. We had 2 rooms & 4 people in our party for a 2 night stay. We asked for info on a restaurant. It was in the book in our room but they looked it up for us. We collected our garbage & recycle & took it to the floor room attendant. When we first arrived we did not look closely at the room book of info or the little message on the fridge that it was turned off. This fridge item was our only negative of our entire stay... The staff were WONDERFUL!!! Thank you.
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice our stay was, we only booked 1 night as a stop off on route back to Vancouver. The man at the front desk was super helpful and friendly when we arrived. It was a good location to the main area of the town. It felt safe too. The room was clean, great shower, big TV and air con. It was very handy to have a place to do a few loads of laundry and the gym beside it also looked well equipped, bright and clean. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful, we couldn't believe how lovely the decor was, very impressive. We didn't dress up but felt we should have, ha. The food was also great and one of the best burgers I've had! Overall great stay, we didn't have any issues, will definitely return if we get the chance.
Breakfast was almost nil, a few bananas, cookies, and a few oranges....thats it. Rooms were very clean, staff also did a great job. It was okay, will probably might look around next time. Location worked out okay as far as that goes.
Awesome service. Very quiet and the AC was super. The room was very clean and freshly sanitized. The television was very nicely positioned on the wall and worked beautifully. Shower was great with lots of hot water.
This hotel is very conveniently located right near the bridge and walking distance to shops etc. Rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking is free and on-site. As a real bonus, there is a guest laundry - very handy if you are travelling! There is a very nice restaurant attached to the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The front desk staff were friendly and the restaurant (breakfast) had a great server there as well. The location is very good for attending downtown restaurants, or hockey games etc.
I recently stayed at this hotel in Trail on a business trip. My guest room was spotlessly clean and the bedding was of high quality and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is very convenient within walking distance of the downtown core.
The staff here is alway smiling and a pleasure to deal with. They are more than accommodating. Nice breakfast bistro. Location is close to restaurants and shopping. Nice restaurant on site with superb steaks.
This was an excellent experience. We needed somewhere clean and safe to stay for a night and were quickly accommodated. Staff were friendly and rooms were a good size and beds were comfy. Elevator was down but we were ok with a flight of stairs. Definitely recommend if you need somewhere to stay in the trail area
supposed to be a "plus " hotel. we found it a "minus". broken elevator. dirty stairwell. we were told there would be fruit as a morning snack and there was none. a very basic lodging and for the price and the reputation of best western plus we expected more
I was in Trail to work at RED Mountain ski resort in December 2022 then returned to Trail to ski RED Mountain on vacation in January 2023. The Best Western Plus Columbia River is a very nice hotel not far from the ski resort, plus all of the restaurants in Trail.
Attended hospital for a short stay. Hotel nice and close to hospital. Hotel was nice and quiet and bed was perfect. Many food options around hotel for my partner including a 7-11 across the street. Have heard the restaurant is really good but don't have a personal experience there.
Very well maintained property. Quiet well decorated room. Snowing heavily so we were very glad we had made the reservation in advance, given a late evening medical appointment at the Hospital. Awkward vehicle exit that would benefit from being marked/indicated, perhaps on a map at check in.
The staff was very helpful and the rooms were just what we needed. The breakfast was awesome we had just happen to need a room and we were suggested this place when we got there the staff was beyond helpful and made everything easy
I have reviewed this hotel before and continue to be very happy with my frequent stays there. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms as really super-clean and downtown is just a short walk. Breakfast was available during the week and although the adjoining restaurant is a tad expensive it is well worth a visit for dinner, even just to absorb the atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend staying there.
No surprises . Decent sized . Comfortable bed . TV and electronic accommodation all worked well . Pleasant staff . Good location ( short walk to “downtown “ . Decent price ( at least in current climate ) . Decent sized bathroom , properly stocked .
My room was was clean and quiet but no breakfast (grab and go doesn't count). First Best Western I've stayed in without a breakfast. I expected that for the price as well as the BW name. Part of the building is rented out to a liquor store.
Cleanest room I have ever experienced! Great friendly and welcoming staff! Great downtown location with easy access to the hospital as I was on a business trip. I will definitely stay again, and not hesitate to recommend this hotel for pleasure or business.
We ended up having to take a different route home from Calgary due to forest fires. We really had no idea where to stay and were coming up on Trail, BC (Castlegar was one of the spots on fire). They had a Best Western Plus and figure normally Best Western's are consistent so we will just stay there. They charged us $184CAD for one night. It wasn't worth more than $100. It was gross. I think they knew how many forest fires were around and people being evacuated from the homes and they decided maximize on profit during this bad time for others. The front desk attendant looked to have needle marks on her arms, she was horrible to deal with and seemed skittish. Who we think would have been a manager yelling at her from a back room while we were checking in. So unprofessional. The lobby looked like it had been update and looked very nice. Once you got into the elevator and walked the halls you could tell it was upgraded on the cheap. The hotel had a funny smell once you got past the first floor. The rooms had been upgraded and looked nice but was nothing special. They claim the restaurant was closed for renos, but seemed to be just boarded up. They never updated their website to say it was closed. We watch a homeless man shoot up behind the building close to the liquor store (that was on the backside of the building and another one pooping outside the building somewhat close to our car. We did not feel safe leaving our belongings in the room when we went for dinner and did not feel good about leaving our car in the parking lot. AC unit barely ran and was very loud. They did offer us a bagged breakfast because of Covid they could not offer the normally breakfast. We passed because who knows who made it. Next time we will keep driving.
We'd stayed at this property before. Last time we loved the restaurant (especially the Bellinis) and enjoyed the hospitality and service at the complimentary breakfast. We arrived to find that the restaurant was closed and the complimentary breakfast was gone and replaced with an overpriced breakfast menu. Neither of these items were brought to our attention before we arrived. In addition, the heat in the room was too hot and didn't keep the room at the displayed temp. We were disappointed.
I stayed there over Christmas break to visit my family and it was lovely. It was so nice to see some friendly, familiar faces. Breanna at the desk was very welcoming upon arrival and Jason in the liquor store was such a sweetheart like always. Whenever I hear about my friends or family going to Trail I always recommend this location to stay at :)
Clean, comfortable, quiet. Great value. I was happy with everything except the bagged breakfast, but I assume that is a Covid requirement, so can't fault Best Western for it. I would stay here again for sure.
I really enjoyed the quality of housekeeping and guest room comfort of this hotel. Didn't like the snack bag that was offered as Grab-and-go breakfast and fitness room equipment. you could hear a little noise of highway but not to the point that disturb your sleep.
The Best Western Plus Columbia River Hotel was very convenient for our team when we played in the annual hockey tournament. The hotel was clean, warm and the staff very friendly and accommodating. There was a locked room to store hockey equipment. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Trail for a hockey tournament or just a trip to visit this beautiful part of British Columbia.
Great service, super clean, very comfy beds and best pillows ever. Forgot a cable in the room but maid ran out to our car as we were leaving to return it to us. Amazing. No one ever does that. So appreciated!
This was our 2nd stay at this property and again we were not disappointed. It is refreshing to see that the Owner continues to invest in the two BW properties that he has in Trail. Covid-19 precautions are still being applied with no daily room cleaning but fresh towels and toiletries and provided when required. Room carpet had some stains but was clean (soles of slippers remained perfectly white). Attached restaurant is still closed but these are challenging times for the hotel industry. Bagged breakfasts are still being provided and each consists of a bottle of water, one orange juice, an apple, a muffin and a breakfast bar - much more than what another hotel provided of just one muffin.
The grounds are beautiful. The room was on the 4th floor with a great view of The Bridge of the Gods, sunsets and of course theColumbia River. Breakfast was complimentary and fresh from the restaurant next door. Very clean, nice and functional room. Great night sleep.
I was very disappointed with the room. Service was good but the room felt drab and dingy. There were still CFL bulbs, so drab warm lighting and the carpet was stained throughout giving a feeling of an older unkempt hotel maybe a fresh coat of paint throughout but that does not change the fact that with nearly 2 years of fewer that normal guests due to the Pandemic there is NO EXCUSE for the carpet in a room to be so very filthy. I would not choose to stay there again and would not recommended it to another
Stayed for only one night. Chose because the hotel is close to downtown and we have always had good luck with BW hotels. Check-in was straightforward. Parking right in front of the hotel. The room was clean and well supplied however the carpet was worn and stained and hopefully will be replaced in the not too distant future. There was little view (just of the local main drag through town). Even though it was on the main route through town it was not overly noisey. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was upgraded and very nice. There was a "grab and go" breakfast that was pretty minimal but understandable in these times. The location was very good - a short walk to downtown (however, downtown does not have a lot of services etc). All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
Trail Best Western Hotel was a perfect central location from Medicine Hat, Alberta to Surrey, BC for lodging overnight. Staying there overnight was excellent to rest, sleep on the very good bed, drive through Trial with curosity, and pass by an array of interesting older buildings on the highway.
Stayed at the Best Western Plus. Great location, Super nice rooms. As always the staff is very polite and professional. The rate was reasonable. Not big on the grab and go breakfast. I would suggest a voucher for breakfast at a local restaurant
Great Hotel! Great Service! Lovely Room! I expect a restful and relaxing experience and my visit to the Best Western Plus Columbia River Hotel did not disappoint. The staff are always friendly, accommodating and helpful.
We have stayed at this hotel at this time every year for the past several years and have been happy with the facility. However things have changed and not all to do with covid. The building was pretty well shut down as we were told due to "construction". This meant no washrooms on the main floor so if you needed a washroom it was up to your room on the 4th floor like some of us were. The usual excellent breakfast is now an anemic bag lunch, understandably due to the pandemic. As a partner with BCAA we were not offered a discount. Best Western promotion of a $20 gift certificate was not offered either. On checking in one of the rooms was not made up so we had to be reassigned. Despite these shortfalls the hotel would not budge on the rate. We stayed the previous night in a motel in Kaslo for less than have of the cost of the room at BW. The air conditioner there was just as efficient and much quieter, there was shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom not empty little bottles and the TP was better quality. Fair to say that next year and booking six rooms we will be seeking other accommodation.
With the pandemic still ongoing and in effect, much of the services at the hotel were closed. The lounge/bar... closed. Complimentary breakfast... altered to a paper bag with a granola bar, juice box, apple, and a stale danish. I would have been less offended if nothing was offered at all. Because of this, I would have expected the rates to have been reflected positively. Nope... $160/night after taxes. The night previous we literally paid half that in another town and received more and better. As for the rest of the experience, the room was very large and spacious with a king bed, HD tv (too small for the size of the wall and room), and all other amenities and comps associated with a hotel of this calibre. My room faced the highway (even numbered room) and the large commercial vehicles like to take a run up the hill; the noise is quite noticeable. I would recommend an odd numbered room on the other side; perhaps a less rude awakening. Service was pleasant and professional. Property was clean and Covid-19 protocols were in place. The elevator worked to every floor except mine (2nd); not a big deal. The stairs were convenient and faster that waiting for the elevator that did not work properly. I did notice that in the elevator there was a sign attesting to the fact that this Best Western rated highly according to Trip Advisor... except there was a big typo on the sign. Amusing... Anyway, a generally pleasant stay... I just cannot understand how they justify charging what they do given what they do not offer. 2 stars.
We arrived in Trail for a four-night stay as I had a work assignment which ended up running to 16 days. Room location was exactly as requested and there was a hand written note in the Room written by Brandon (Director of Guest Services) welcoming us to the hotel – a very nice touch. It would appear that the Hotel and Rooms have recently been redecorated and refitted with good quality furnishings and it is refreshing to see the Owner's ongoing and continued investment in the property. Everything was clean and fresh. Adjoining Hotel Restaurant was still closed due to the pandemic but believe should be reopening in the not-too-distant future. Due to work ended up staying 16 nights and everybody that we met from Brandon, to the front desk staff to housekeeping were exceptionally pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable about this regional location. We will stay at this location again and sincerely recommend it to others. Couple of minor recommendations: 1. There are no microwaves in the Rooms but it you advise the front desk then they will arrange as soon as they can – if you are arriving late suggest that you phone in advance of arrival if you need one in place the same night; 2. Exit to the main road is on a blind corner, particularly if you are heading East. Suggest that you go round the building and exit via the McDonalds parking lot, which has traffic lights to assist.
Comfortable older property in extremely convenient downtown location. Plenty of parking. 24 hour desk, professional and friendly staff. Very clean room and common spaces / lobby. Restaurant closed due to Covid, unfortunately.
I came to the area for work and the Best Western Plus Columbia was recommended to me by a colleague. From the first phone call to the time I had to leave the staff was an absolute joy and made me feel right at home. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and the assistance provided by the staff. The rooms are spacious and allowed for me to do my office work in. The coffee machine provided in the room helped get me through some long long days of work! I hope I get a chance soon to go back and visit that beautiful area just so I can stay a few more nights at the hotel. Thank you!
When we went to leave there was a homeless person sleeping outside the front door. That person proceeded to get up and than followed my husband as he left threatening him. Around half an hour before this another party that we were travelling with was also Uncomfortable when leaving as he was staring at their young daughter and acting strangely. When my husband approached front desk they responded with, "There is nothing they can do! They've called cops in the past and they don't do anything!"
It is never a bad experience at the Best Western Columbia River Hotel. They provide excellent service and keep their establishment in pristine condition. They recently went above and beyond and hosted a private dinner party for me, which was a fantastic experience. The food was unbelievably delicious and the service was excellent. I would always recommend this accommodation.
I am a local person whom stayed at this hotel after a medical procedure in the hospital. I am very disappointed with the Best Wester+ in Trail BC. There was no Coffee/Tea machine, you have to pay extra for a Microwave and the Fridge was Turned Off. After just being under anesthetic for a medical procedure the heat in the room was unbearable and I had to fumble with the heater to turn it off. I do not recommend this hotel to travelers.
Stayed for one night while in Trail on business. Location was exceptionally clean and the room was spotless. Staff were friendly and efficient, with my free night coupon being honoured and processed quickly. Stayed in 217 king room and it was comfortable and unless I am mistaken the rooms have been renovated recently? They are in very good shape. Wifi was mediocre and the restaurant is closed which is understandable. All in all I would return and recommend.
room was very clean, internet was lightning fast and bed gave me a very good sleep. Location in Trail allowed me see many customers quickly and with great profit, as well as many close amenities like shops and services always a bonus. Columbia River Hotel is 5 star in my books
Booked online and choose this hotel because the pub was attached and free breaky. Upon arrival we find out the pub is closed the spa is closed. We stayed 2 nights and our room overlooked the pub roof and the A/C unit. REALLY the hotel was not full
i have stayed at several best western plus hotels & this hotel is not worthy of being a "plus" status hotel. appliances in the room kept us awake through the night every time they cycled on. the actual price we paid for the night was more than what was quoted on the phone even after i was told that it would be adjusted to original quote.
Stayed here again while in Trail for business, as it is my go to Hotel of Choice. Even with the Covid-19 restrictions in place this hotel is clean comfortable and a great caring happy to see you staff, even at 2M ( 6ft apart ) social distancing rules. Breakfast area and lounge were not open during my stay, understandably. They still offered a very simple bag breakfast ( no hot items ) fruit, granola bar, muffin, bottled water. Unprecedented times for sure , but still stand out service! Thanks for that.
We had a lovely stay at a very modern, clean hotel in Trail. The staff was top notch with genuine smiles and offers of services. The water pressure in the taps was abundant and the icy cold water out of the taps, delicious. The breakfast was as per usual, but the coffee was delicious and the staff there, more than delightful. All rooms and hallways and eating areas were spotless. Blue ribbon hotel.
Check in and hospitality are awesome. Definitely an older hotel remodelled and they did a great job. Very impressed and we felt safe and comfortable. Price was decent and the amenities in close proximity were very good.
Nothing was really how it should be, lousy Wi Fi, Small room, several equipment problems, very little accomodation from the desk, no coffee in the lobby, strict aderence to breafast ends at 9 AM sharp !!!, vrey few food options for a weary traveler unless you are a McDonalds fan which is next door, all this for not a very cheap price in the off season, we stay at a lot of BW hotels, this one was the worst
Really enjoyed the great staff, quiet room, and very comfortable mattress. The gift basket that was left for me on Christmas Day was a great touch to say thanks for staying with us on Christmas Eve. Awesome touch to a business trip on a holiday. Very thoughtful staff.
The room was very comfortable and modern. It was everything I've come to expect from a Best Western Plus. The service sets this hotel apart from others of the same quality. From check in to check out you were made to feel like someone special and a wanted guest. The hot breakfast was very good but the server was exceptional. We received an extra bag with fresh fruit and water at check in, due to being a Best Western rewards member which we appreciated. Hotel was centrally located and parking was convenient. Cost was reasonable considering the quality and service.
Excellent service! Everyone at the breakfast buffet, and front counter, were incredible and so helpful. In particular, one gentleman (I'm sorry I can't remember your name!) went above and beyond. He saw we were traveling with small children and brought some breakfast items to the table for us. He also brought out fruit and waters as we were packing up our truck to head home! He was SO KIND! I highly recommend this Best Western, not only for the 5-star service, but also for the location - it's really close to everything! Thank you for making our trip so memorable!
This hotel is not particularly impressive from the outside. However the interior is completely updated and very nicely done. Our room was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Each staff member we encountered was cheerful and friendly. The location is an easy walk to the main business district in Trail. My only criticisms would be the very small bathroom which lacked an exhaust fan and the fact the the breakfast bar was not quite as extensive and fresh as those in comparable hotels.
Convenient access with lots of parking. Easy walk into downtown. Hotel and the rooms nicely appointed and they've tried to keep some of the older hotel charm. Great beds and amenities. Super fast wifi. Great staff especially in the breakfast area. The breakfast staff were amazing. Always asking if you needed anything or if you needed to find something. The one thing that could be improved is the quality of breakfast items. Its pretty standard processed hot items unlike some of the other bw properties I've stayed at.
Stayed at the best western from the 27th December through to the 9th 2018/19 lovely hotel very comfortable beds and breakfast that was very good . Most of the staff were very nice and helpful. And a hot tub and gym in same room separated by a sliding door. Hotel not far from eating facilities MacDonald's a few Italian European restaurants quite close . And a supermarket within walking distance. Now the downsides wifi was terrible I was skiing in red mountain and the fact I didn't have a car meant that I had to use public transport which in and around new year was only a couple of times a day . I didn't have a lift pass so just paid on a day to day basis . Tickets skiing in red are reasonably expensive $100 + per day the desk staff informed me the day I was leaving that they did discounted tickets . Thanks for telling me.? . Trail is an industrial town with the smelting works right behind the hotel . Or even behind the whole town it's massive. So not really a ski town like rossland . when I do come back I will probably stay in rossland just for convenience to the ski hill. Really liked the hotel but although it's just a few miles from rossland it's far enough to be a nuisance to get there.
Stayed in a business trip and it was a nicely oriented hotel. Very clean and good desk service. Conveniently located Very close to downtown amenities. decent restaurant on site and a liquor store conveniently located below.
We headed the for a birthday weekend and stayed for 2 nights! The location being right in town was awesome for walking to and from restaurants and coffee shops! The hotel staff were really good and friendly! The room was clean, the bathroom was clean and we loved the mattress!! The air conditioner worked like a charm and I love the fan option on the unit!! There is a fantastic restaurant attached to the hotel that we went to and were super happy with the experience! The place also has a beer and wine store which was perfect after our long drive to Trail! No need to go looking for beers! The only concerns which are small were, the bathroom is a bit small for two people at one time with the counter space being limited and the only other small thing is the tv, although we got tv it was a bit of a blurry picture... Would I stay again...you bet!
Stayed one night on our way from BC to Alberta on Crowsnest Highway. The hotel is located with good access to highways 3 and 22 and with ample outside parking. Friendly staff at the front desk and check-in was swift and efficient. The proximity to the highway and heavy traffic may be an issue if you are a light sleeper. The hotel is not new and soundproofing not up to the newest standards. Our room was spacious and reasonably clean, and with all the amenities you would expect. Our room did not have a hairdryer, but we called the front desk and we got one within minutes. The included breakfast was okay, but nothing special. For a BW Plus, we had expected a better breakfast.
Returned to this hotel after 50 years! This was the most enjoyable stay. All the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the hotel's restaurant (Foxy's) was excellent. Will definitely come back to stay at this hotel again.
Nice staff members, dated rooms, but there isn't much to chose from in this area. There is a busy/bar restaurant adjacent to the site for food. It was really hot when I was there and the AC was loud and bothersome.
after an arduous, stressful day driving through the mountains where the previous day's driving (Vancouver-Osoyoos) had proved in no uncertain terms that prairie driving was definitely their forte and mountain driving definitely not (apologies to anyone driving behind us), and that this day's driving, Osoyoos-Trail, confirmed their theory once again (apologies all around). Directions to the hotel given by the relatives these 2 were to visit in Trail were as such: "you'll see it as you drive into town", which they did as they passed it ..... they'd made the error of using their prairie perspective of "drive into town" which is done on a very flat road, whereas this drive was down a steep decline while with a lot of curves, again, proving mountain driving not their forte. In any case, upon arrival at this hotel they (besides wanting to kiss the ground) were greeted by very friendly staff, and then delighted with their room. It was sooooo clean, even the tv remote control was "new" as it came in its own wrapper; and such lovely details like a full length mirror on the bathroom door, fluffy towels, a fabric shower curtain, even a heat lamp in the bathroom, nice carpet, and then the bed, so comfortable for these 2 weary birds. Provided just the right amount of rest, recuperation and recovery these 2 needed to face yet another day of up down over around and through another bunch of mountains as they made their way home (also proving that maybe next time they're in Trail, being of the bird family, they should fly....)
We have stayed here previously, but this time we lucked out and got a refurbished room, in fact, we were told we were the first guests to use the "new" room. It smelled new when first walking in. It was fabulous. The hotel was always neat and orderly, but this time was over the moon.
On a 2 night stay, we were required to move after the first night. No help from staff, my husband was to go into surgery that afternoon and had to move and repack all our belongings to another floor, very upsetting. I had gone out shopping that morning to give my husband some rest before he went in for surgery that afternoon. No staff advised me that we would have to move, I would have stayed to help repack and move our belongings to another floor.
Stayed for 2 nights recently at Best Western in Trail. Staff working there always went out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast Buffet was an added bonus. Would definitely stay here when next time in town.
Good price. Lovely people. Comfortable stay. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast buffet in the morning was included. It was well stocked, and had a nice assortment of items. The gentleman who was going around, making sure everything was ok, was very nice. We were only able to stay one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer. Side note: The hotel has a restaurant attached to it, which was good as well. And a liqueur store, if needed. Having said that, it was still a peaceful environment :)
The staff at the Columbia River were great, very helpful and friendly. We had excellent service from AJ for the morning breakfast. Very helpful making sure everyone was taken care of. Rooms were nice. Thanks!
The hotel is set up for tourists and business visitors but mainly for business or trades people working in the local area of Trail. I pre-ordered gluten free breakfast options via email before I arrived at the hotel. On my first morning A.J. presented me with gluten-free oats, dried fruits, chia seeds, yoghurt and gluten free bread, which usually I avoid but it was very nice toasted. Eggs are always available. I was very pleased with the food and Christine and A.J are super attentive. Many thanks to them. All staff from receptionists to housekeeping were amenable and so helpful. Overall it was a very nice stay.
The room was very clean and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was wonderful with an assortment of choices . It was very quiet and pleasant. Everyone was very friendly. We have no complaints at all. Do stay here!
Trail is a good hub for activities around the area. The city on its own is nice, bute not too remarkable. The brewery is good, though. The BW is primarily a business hotel with nice, clean rooms and free parking. The breakfast ist good, the service provided (especially by AJ - thanks!) ist exceptional.
Be sure to pack some ear plugs! The air conditioner is so noisy!! Either it's too cold or too hot, no sleep due to this. Bed was comfy enough and a nice mix of pillows. Coffee station/water in the lobby. Nice menu options at their restaurant.
A.J working in the Breakfast room every morning was a delight to see and talk with. He constantly went out of his way to appease any and everyone that came into the breakfast room every morning. It was a total pleasure seeing him everyday.. :-)
Pretty good free breakfast attended by the most helpful and pleasant staff ever! They insist upon serving you as best they can despite the buffet setup. Big smiles too. And here are the rest of my minimum characters.
Stayed at a number of Best Western locations on a recent road trip and this location earned my #1 award. The breakfast eating area was very well organized and felt like a restaurant...complete with staff checking at our table to ensure everything was OK. Small things like an air conditioning unit in the hallway to keep the temperature balanced. The room was a typical layout but the fit and finish was very well done...even when compared to the competition. Strong recommendation for this location.
My Daughter and I came to Trail to visit my mom for a couple of days. The service at this hotel was great and love the location. The rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. I have to give a BIG shout out to Christie and AJ at the breakfast bar. The moment my daughter and I entered the restaurant Christie was there and greeted us with a smile. We tried to make a waffle, but the machine was acting up, Christie said don't worry I will get that and made us waffles and made sure my coffee was topped up. They have a great hot selection for breakfast and so much more. Christie went above and beyond to make sure we got what we wanted, Thank you Christie for making our trip so enjoyable !!. Our last day there we got to meet AJ and his smile is contagious, such a nice friendly young man. We are looking forward to coming back :)
We had a really nice stay here, if only one night. We were able to walk to town and have a look around. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Most of all the staff go out of their way to make you welcome and take care of anything. The spa was a nice bonus too... YMMV
AJ Christie provides a great service in the breakfast area. He always has a friendly smile and is happy to assist with any of your requests. Hotel is clean and the front desk is friendly and is close to all amenities in the Trail area.
Great location beside arena and walking distance to downtown restaurants and stores of Trail. The on site beer and wine store is a plus. On site pub has extremely expensive food if not there at happy hour. Had a good steak frites at happy hour for $21. It is $42 at regular times! Rooms were clean. Good larger size fridge and microwave. Staff are very friendly and accomodating. Room rate was expensive for quality you get. They jacked up the prices as girls pee wee rep provincial championship was happening all weekend. Would consider staying here again if had to go to trail for another hockey tournament. The included breakfast is garbage basically. No bacon, some crummy sausages and crummy scrambled eggs and quasi-tiny cheese Omelettes. Best avoided. Had Seattle's Best coffee that was good though.
I stay at this property once a year. I am pleased with how friendly the staff are, especially AJ( Arjun) at the complimentary breakfast buffet, he always remembered my orange juice. My room was thoroughly cleaned each day. The bed was comfortable and I felt very safe.
Latest trip was 3 days over May long weekend. It's a good location, and the best hotel I've found in the area. I think the breakfast is much improved over my last visit, I used to grab a quick bite at A&W across the street, but not this trip. Much improved quality of food offerings
Had a great stay here for a few days this spring. Thanks to Michael for all of your help and for the great room. If you are looking for a quiet hotel, this is it! Rooms are great, clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast staff is very kind, always welcoming with a morning smile. The breakfast looks yummy and I've no doubt many enjoy the hot assortment of dishes. Unfortunately it is often hard to find super healthy options. The fresh fruit was appreciated. I don't eat carbs so I was a bit out of luck here. However I was thrilled to learn that if I have a special request (like hard boiled eggs) I could ask in advance of my arrival. May buffets have hard boiled eggs which is a great low fat source of protein verses scrambled eggs with all of that oil. Some fat free, sugar free yogurt would be fantastic as well. But this is more a comment on what I like to have. The offerings as they are now look appetizing. Great coffee.
Recently I attended a reunion and stayed for 3 nights. Very impressive service. Our room was spotless and clean. The continental breakfast was very good and a shout out to AJ and Christie for the great service there. Room service was prompt! Definitely will stay there again!
Had a very comfortable stay here. Fitness area was small but adequate. We had excellent service from AJ and Christie at the breakfast bar. They went above and beyond ! Would definitely stay here again.
The service at this hotel was wonderful! AJ(Arjun) and Christie were SO friendly and helpful. The moment we stepped in for breakfast they offered to prepare our coffee. AJ even made a waffle for me! They really went above and beyond, I would absolutely stay here again. Take care of these two! If only every hotel had service like this! The only thing I'd change would be the equipment in the gym. It needs more space and some weights :) other than that- lovely place to stay!
AJ whom we encountered deserves special recognition. Not only is he courteous and pleasant, but he worked efficiently to anticipate and fulfill our breakfast needs! And, he knows how to make a good cup of tea! AJ was cheerful and he got our day of travel off to a great start. Thank you, AJ!
Five star service at this hotel. Very impressed with all employees from house keeping to front desk. Special shout out to AJ who works the breakfast bar. He always went the extra mile. Room service is also available between certain hours.
Free Breakfast was unreal....the cook came out and cooked the waffles for us and then buttererd and brought us the syrup right to our table, allowing us eat our eggs, sausage and hashbrowns first. Between A.J. and Christie we could not have been taken care of better. It felt like family lol. The room was super clean and stocked well. Very quiet. Every one was always smiling....so refreshing.
My room was spacious and functional (as an office anyway). The breakfasts were diverse (plus they were complimentary) and the servers were a pleasant surprise. Now add a lounge like Foxy's with its happy hour and you will not get a better value on food and spirits anywhere in Canada (well, that I know of). Therefore there is only one thing left to say; thank you Best Western Plus for the pleasant stay.
AJ runs the breakfast bar at the BW Columbia River Hotel. He made this an excellent stay for us. His enthusiasm and five star hospitality can be felt throughout the hotel. AJ went above and beyond during our stay and made this a wonderful visit for our whole family. Highly recommend. V+A+J
I'll try to write this review in sequence of our visit....it was lovely. We were in town for my Uncles funeral and wanted to have a nice, relaxing, quiet night. Which we definitely had. Upon entering the front desk staff was dressed very dapper and it was such a nice touch. There was mix up in our booking, but he fixed it super quickly and got us all checked in. Now I am SUUUUUPER picking about my rooms cleanliness. I check edges and behind side tables for dust from a missed vacuum job. I'll just say that housekeeping has done a really spectacular job. And I'm thankful because I was really able to relax. Beds were comfy and the sheets and blankets smelled so clean and fresh. Breakfast was what you typically expect from a buffet free with stay, and it was hot and ready to go. The young gentleman who was working Sunday April 14th was so great and a nice cheery face and smile for the morning! The checkout staff that morning was just as lovely and everything went flawlessly. All-in-all our stay was everything we needed. And this will be our first choice every time I come back. Thank you, everyone! Job well done.
The staff, their friendless, attention to detail is amazing. Breastfed is amazing. Internet was solid, Lamps in the room need updating!! The gold looks old.would recommenced this hotel to anyone who visits the Trail area.
Extremely inflated prices for all services due to the lack of competition. This guys need to thank 1000 times per day to Teck Metals, the huge plant located literally at the steps of the hotel main entrance. Without the Teck guys, this hotel and restaurant will be one of those dusty at the edge of collapse forgotten hotels. Be aware about the hidden charge for room services. For a $14 sandwich (very expensive anyhow) I actually ended to pay $35, just because they charge on the top of it a flat $4 delivery fee, another 15% whatever fee, plus a kind of mandatory tip and taxes at the end. If you don't want to be rip-off, drive another 20 kilometers to Castlegar and book a room at Super 8 hotel. Is a way better price vs quality choice and the restaurant is better and way cheaper.
Twice I notified the hotel that I'd not yet received my confirmation email. Twice they were unable to send one, though my email account was working fine. When I arrived, my reservation could not be found under my name. It was under a name I didn't even know. The hotel clerk that day seemed not all that friendly. The hotel clerks the other day, on the other hand, were. So was the person supervising the breakfast room. The lobby carpet was somewhat dirty. The room, though clean, looked fairly used and not updated. In spite of our room being away from the road, we could here the sounds of trucks as they passed by. The hotel is modern. Lots of parking at the hotel site when we were there. The cost of the room was $173.00 including tax for one night. Highly over-priced.
We stopped here for a couple nights to do some spring skiing at nearby Red Mountain. We found the hotel well situated to explore the town and it's restaurants on foot. It is situated right on the highway but we were never bothered by any road noise. there was also a girls hockey team staying in the hotel, and even they were quiet with the exception of a few minutes when they returned for the night. We found our room comfortable, clean with a good bed. I think BW needs to reconsider its big chunky pillows though.. it would be nice to have a combination of a few softer ones for those of us who can't tolerate a bulky pillow under the neck. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, and the included breakfast was one of the best I've seen for a BW hotel. We paid $159 plus tax which is a bit more than we would have expected for this town. I would have rated it a 5 but the BW in Vernon was actually nicer and only $105. This is a good hotel in trail and we can easily recommend it.
Attended for the BC Provincial Hockey Championships. Location was awesome as everything was within walking distance, including the rink. Hotel beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Surprisingly quiet considering the hotel is on the main road and we had a room overlooking the parking lot. Staff helpful with our questions and able to fulfill our requests quickly and easily. Beds were some of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in and I love that the light switch for the bathroom is IN the bathroom, no disturbing anyone in the middle of the night! Breakfast was delicious with a great variety to choose from, and "to go" coffee cups for your coffee!
We stayed at the BW Trail on our way through the area. The exterior is rather unassuming. The service was excellent. The continental + breakfast the next day was also excellent. We would definitely stay again if passing through.
This is Best Western staff is some of the best I have encountered. I would recommend this hotel in the Trail BC area for this reason itself. Usually early check-in can be a hassle but not here. Strongly recommending
Stayed here for 1 night while in Trail for business. Tyler at the checkin did an excellent job. He was very friendly, professional and attentive. He gets a 5/5. The hotel is in good condition but could use a renovation to bring it up a few years. The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was a little harder than at other hotels but the pillows were very good. The breakfast was good in the morning as well as the checkout was quick and easy. Good place to stay.
Our family stayed two nights for a hockey tournament. Upon arrival, my heart sunk at the exterior sight of the hotel. I have to mention that parking at the front entrance is a challenge; not many stalls. But the exterior was no indication as to what the interior held for us. When we stepped in the hotel, it was very nice, clean and friendly. They did an excellent job in making an old hotel look great. The staff was very helpful, accommodating and available. They switched rooms for us when we realized the original would not accommodate our family. They did this with NO problems at all! Our room was very nice and clean. I was very surprised. The breakfast was great. First time in Canada hotels that offered an actual breakfast! Omelets, [Canadian] bacon, potatoes, full juice bar, brewed coffee and other pastries etc. Yum. The Foxys "lounge" is also very nice! We didn't eat but rather instead, had a few beers. We don't know what the food was like but it seemed a bit on the expensive side. They have a liquor store attached which provides some convenience. The hotel was quiet and conveniently located between both ice rinks we needed to be at. The downside; no hair dryer, no bath fan and no pool. My mistake when I read that they had a "spa". However, the spa and exercise room (though small) was pleasant. We did not have a microwave in our room but I do believe you can request one. For the price, we would stay again. Thank you. Just a note: I booked this stay through a 3rd party whose spokes person was a famous star trek actor. They were a nightmare to work with when needing to change a stay date when Best Western was completely awesome.
Be careful if you book this hotel, as the top listing from a Google search redirects you to a booking "service" called Guest Reservations. You get charged for the room plus an item labelled "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees". These fees amounted to 40% of our bill for a 2 night stay. Best Western essentially condones these bookings received from third party service providers. Disappointing behaviour for that brand. Also, we had to get a different room for the second night as when we returned in the evening the smell of marijuana in the hallway and our room was overpowering. The management needs to be more direct in informing guests that smoking of anything in hotel rooms is unacceptable and subject to a significant extra charge.
Good value for your money. Good central location in town and within walking distance to most amenities that you may need. Good breakfast considering that it's part of your room price, no complaints. Staff was friendly.
Stayed for one night on stopover...great hotel. From check in to check out no issues. Front desk friendly, room clean, bed comfortable , good free breakfast to start the day. I thought it being right on the highway it would be noisy but we heard nothing. No complaints on this hotel !!
Spent three nights in Trail to connect with family for a special occasion! The overall hotel experience was outstanding from the service and the amenities offered at this location! There were three of us in a very spacious, comfortable room on the top floor. The hotel was very clean and all staff members were very friendly! The buffet breakfast was excellent!
Grabbed a room here last week. The front desk staff were great! I guess I got the last available room? The hotel seems old. The rooms could use a reno, but they are clean and the beds were comfortable enough. pretty pricey though. I'd stay again of I had business in town, but next time Castlegar is full I'll try Nelson.
Stopping over in Trail one night, we booked into the Best Western. When in doubt, we find we are never disappointed with this chain. The location is right down town, so walking throughout the city, is made easy. The room was spacious, and on the top floor, which we prefer. Check in was easy. Breakfast in-house is always a great way to start the day. Also, parking is handy, right outside the hotel.
We were recently in Trail to relocate my son for hockey. The staff at the Best Western took good care of us! Was especially impressed with the housekeeping staff who were exceptionally kind, professional and helpful in every way!
My wife and stayed at this property on our trip out west and it is definitely as advertised. Very comfortable experience all around from the front lobby to the room which was clean and well decorated. A definite stay if you are in Trail BC
We were here for two nights - Sunday to Tuesday. Overall we found the hotel quite comfortable. This is an older building that has been updated. Our King room was not huge -- but very clean - with comfortable furniture and bed. The staff all seemed very friendly -- from the front desk - to the housekeepers - to the lady overseeing the breakfast area. My only concerns were the noise from the room next door and the air conditioner. We did not have an adjoining room - yet could hear talking and coughing throughout the night. The air conditioner never did cool the room down very much - we tried working with it both nights - with little success.
Older building but nice interior. Hot tub worked well but very small area, room was good, breakfast was good , elevator was kind of clunky likely due to older building. Location was good close to gas station and restaurants.
Spent one night here on route to Calgary and booked a king suite. Our room was beautiful and very clean. Loved the decor and the bed was really comfy. The front desk person was also helpful in steering us to a good restaurant out of town since half of Trail was without power due to fire earlier in the day. One suggestion I would make is to add safes in the rooms for passports and such. If passing through Trail again I would definitely stay here.
I was in a two-bed room on the second floor, with a fine view of an adjoining flat roof. :-) Despite the hotel's location near the Columbia River, I'm not sure if any rooms offer a view of it. They may, but mine faced west, away from the river, and didn't. Pros: 1. Comfortable beds. 2. Good breakfast. 3. Generally nice amenities. 4. The room was very clean. 5. Hard-working cleaning and breakfast staff and helpful reception staff. Could use improvement: 1. I had a room with one of those interior doors that can be used to lead into an adjacent room. One night I heard a cough that was so distinct I theorized someone could be in my room! It turned out that the soundproofing afforded by the interior doors is minimal. Generally, though, the hotel is quiet. 2. The air-conditioning was quirky. It seemed to register the outside temperature rather than the temperature in the room. So when it cooled off at night the room remained warm and stuffy unless I turned the a/c down to around 19°C (66°F). During the day, when it was hot outside, the a/c worked normally. 3. I was there for five days and not once was the bedding changed or offered to be changed. If this is the policy, it should be specified.
Our rooms were nicely furnished, immaculate, and comfortable. The location is walking distance to town and the gulch. The elevator was jarring and needed attention. The complimentary breakfast was very good.
I was heading to Trail on the Silkirk Loop drive this past May, with reservations at this property. Unfortunately, a landslide at the Kootenay Pass, and a severe backup on the alternative route (the Kootenay Bay ferry), forced me to change my plans. Even though I had a pre-paid reservation with the Best Western, these folks were so understanding when I called to cancel. I'm not sure if they were able to resell my room, but they refunded my money, and I'm eternally grateful. OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER FOCUS!
We loved our stay at this luxurious feeling, cozy and comfortable hotel, one that is quieter than you would think, given its convenient downtown location on a busy street. It looked to us like they had thicker glass in the windows, muffling street sounds to the minimum. This, with well-functioning blackout curtains, combined with the most comfortable BW beds we've ever experienced, made for a very restful night. Although the rooms are not spacious, they are well appointed, nicely lit, and the furniture is nicer than it looks in photos. The bathroom is good, but lacking counter space and a fan. There is no pool, but there is a small hot tub as part of the small fitness centre. They could also use more TV stations like The Frame channel and/or Stingray / Galaxy music channels. Staff were all-around super friendly, especially in the well-run breakfast room. We really enjoyed the stay, and we will be back when we're in the area again.
Very clean. Efficient staff. Unfortunate that the walls are a little thin! Warning: while attached, the hotel is not connected to the restaurant, Foxy's, so you cannot bill your room. Bring your wallet.
I would happily stay at this property again. Everyone of the staff were wonderful, and helpful. Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was well served with a verity of chooses. Restaurant food was excellent.
Rossland has limited acoomodation, so we stayed at the Best Western in Trail while skiing at Red Mountain. Comfy beds and large rooms. Very standard for the Best Westen hotel brand. Staff were efficient and accommodating. Nice to have full breakfast included. Would stay here again.
After our flight was cancelled we had to stay in Trail for a night. A fellow passenger recommended The Best Western so we stayed there and it did not disappoint. Friendly and efficient staff accommodated my husband and I without a reservation. Our room was clean and comfortable room and our sleep was restful in a nice bed. We had dinner at the on site restaurant and the food was FANTASTIC! We live close to Trail but had already winterized our house for our trip so instead of going home we opted to stay in the hotel. We will go back to the restaurant for dinner again as we were so impressed. Compliments to the chef! Would recommend this hotel to anyone and definitely dine at the restaurant.
The location is great, but the hotel is just average. The rooms were smaller, and basic. They were clean, but this is not a new hotel. The only really good thing was the breakfast that was included. It was pretty good for hotel breakfasts. Not many choices in Trail, and would stay here again.
Stayed while skiing in the area. It was a comfortable, clean place. Hot tub was nice at the end of the day. Breakfast was best we had on the trip with wide variety and well presented. Room was a bit smaller than elsewhere, but adequate.
The trip was fine, the hotel was decent and clean, until I got home and found a $226 dollar charge on my credit card. When I phoned to inquire, I was told that one of the rooms I had booked had been smoked in - I clarified that none of the people I was with smoked, and she replied it wasn't cigarette smoke, it was marijuana smoke. I confirmed that my friend had a medical prescription and likely was rolling joints in the room and what I had signed was an agreement NOT to smoke in the room, which never happened. They refused to give me the manager name or number and hung up on me multiple times. I suspect I'll be calling my credit card company to report the charge as fraudulent. Don't stay here, they treat people with medicine like they're criminals.
Traveled Friday arriving before 11 am, nicely surprised the hotel allowed early check-in. Check-In was fast, information was correct and the room was ready to go. It was nice to get luggage into the hotel because the boys played @ noon. BW is 2 blocks from the rink in Trail and is close to restaurants and other amenities.
Great hotel for the price. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I forgot my toothbrush and went to the lobby at 11 pm and the clerk was more than happy to give me one along with some toothpaste. The breakfast was delicious and the service was fantastic
Very nice hotel. It was cleaned well and our room was really nice. Bed and pillows were great. Breakfast was a pretty typical free hotel breakfast. I would recommend staying here. No pool for the kids though.
I was here in Trail on a business trip and had a reservation pre-booked and had no problems with check in or check out. Rooms are clean, restaurant, lounge has awesome fish and chips, and shrimp and chips have a very tasty sauce that made me order it a second time. Staff is great there too.
The rooms are simple yet comfortable. My room was facing the highway so it was a bit noisy but it didn't bother me too much. The bed and pillows were very soft and comfortable. My one complaint is the room was not stocked with shampoo. This is a base item found in just about all hotels so i'm not sure if it was just an oversight by housekeeping. On the plus side the room came with a shoe shining kit!
Great hotel and the staff went above and beyond to welcome us, making sure everything was perfect for our stay to even offering free Smoke eaters hockey Tickets if needed. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Trail.
Our stay at the Trail Best Western was great. My husband was to have surgery at Trail's amazing hospital and needed to be there early so it was important to be close. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. This is our second stay there for surgery purposes.
I would rate this hotel as good. It's clean and convenient but the value for the price is not good as it is overpriced. The complimentary breakfast is convenient but not very tasty. The bar/lounge is nice to have onsite but is also a bit overpriced for the area. I imagine that the majority of the guests are travelling for business (why else would you stay there) but don't take advantage of expense accounts and overprice your offering.
Staff are always willing to help with a smile on thei face. Location is convenient to my office and restaurants, I just walk everywhere . Breakfast is included which is very convenient. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable. Nice staff. The restaurant attached has fantastic food and service. Continental breakfast has a great selection of hot and cold items. Convenient location close to all amenities.
You can find them at the reception desk of this hotel. Also, the rooms are clean anf spacious wit all the amenities you would expect. The place is a great, convenient and quiet respite. The staff just put it over the top as a destination for travellers.
The Hotel was awesome, staff was friendly and efficient. Well located in the downtown core. Great breakfast with a self help waffle maker. Very comfortable bed, Nice bathroom. Very highly recommended!
A group of 8 Friends just stayed at the Columbia River Best western in Trail . The Young lady that checked us in was unbealeavably helpful and set the tone off for our intire stay . The Hotel is in great shape , vert clean and very comfortable beds . Its walking distance to all the Pubs and Resteraunts in down town Trail . Foxxys sports bar in the Hotel was our last stop the food and drinks were great . Will definatly be back next year .
I have been staying at Best Western Hotels in southern BC when I travel there to watch my son's hockey games. All of my experiences have been positive ones. I have not had any issues with any rooms or staff. I always look for the nearest Best Western Hotel and have yet to have a negative experience
We have stayed in this hotel a few times when travelling and it was great. The hotel was very clean and fresh with very comfortable beds. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful plus the restaurant in the hotel had fabulous food. Great place to stay.
Small hotel on highway but close to downtown. Small room with 2 beds. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Foxie's restaurant in complex, okay food but expensive for what you get. Nice not to have to drive anyplace, tho' for dinner.
Decent hotel for the area I was needing to stay at for business purposes. Reasonable price. Great buffet breakfast. Would be nice to have some landscaping as not much greenery in Trail, but otherwise nice look.
We were not surprised to find our stay at this motel as good as they all seem to be. Clean rooms, great hot tub after a long drive and very good restaurant. We had one very minor noise problem but the staff quickly put it to rest and by 11:05 we were all fast asleep.
One of the best places to stay in Trail. Hotel is always clean and comfortable and the attached restaurant/bar is good but a little pricey. Attached liquor store is convenient and hotel is located within walking distance to several fast food outlets and other conveniences.
Staff at the hotel was as friendly as you could get! They couldn't do enough! The check in was smooth, friendly and uncomplicated. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and even though it was really hot the rooms were a comfortable temperature.
This is an older hotel but the quality of the upgrades that have been done could fool you into thinking it was recently built. The quality of the fit and finish is evidence of better than average craftsmanship. Bed was one of the best ever.
Unfortunately when ownership has a monopoly in a town there isn't much motivation to pay attention to proper service or value. Thanks to my Best Western loyalty membership, I was emailed 2 days prior to our visit to check in. At the time, I requested an early check in between 12-2 so that we could get changed after an 8 hour drive, prior to heading to a wedding at 3. We didn't get into one of our two rooms until 2:20. Unfortunately by the time we arrived, they had given all the early check ins away. Our 2 rooms were split and put on separate floors as well, which was a bit of a hassle. When we arrived in the room the tub was not cleaned and had long hair in it. The towel my son used was also soiled. The beds are double beds, not queen sized. The rooms were otherwise clean. Bring your ear plugs as it is a very noisy hotel right on the main strip. Breakfast was not a great. First of all there is one person on staff which is insufficient to stock food and coffee as well as clean tables. There was no coffee at 9:20 am and was not available until well after 9:30. The waffle iron had a broken timer and the whipped cream empty. When I asked her about these things I was not acknowledged properly or courteously. The server would place 6 sausages at a time in the container. My guess is that they were hoping with stall tactics 10 am would roll around and they wouldn't need to make more. Absolutely no pride in service there. Lastly happy hour. Usually happy hour means 2 for 1 specials. Here it meant $3 drinks. But watch out for the fine print as its only for certain types. Dishonest practices are not the way to run a business. The check out process was very good and the fellow was very professional and courteous. I have been disappointed with the Best Western chain the last 3 times I've stayed there and its time for a switch. This hotel should not be the price it is for the quality.
We booked two rooms for a family getaway and were thoroughly impressed with all aspects of our stay! Staff were professional and courteous and the rooms were the perfect place to retire and relax. What made it all the more impressive is that all the arrangements were done in short order, and staff ensured all our needs were cared for.
The hotel has some different priced rooms to choose from but as we were only staying one night, we took a simple double room. Very impressed with it, so clean (I always check) and the beds were very comfortable. The entrance is quite ordinary, but the lobby is well light and nice appointed. All brand new, easy access from the road and great staff, eager to make you happy. We did not eat in the restaurant, but it looked nice with great dishes to choose from and the breakfast was more than ample. A lady stays in the area and is very helpful to the clients, bringing your coffee and juice to the table for you. At the back of the hotel (part of the hotel) is a large Liquor store! I have never seen that before. We recommend it weather for a one night stay as we did or for longer, perhaps upgrading to a more spacious room, perhaps if you are attending a conference here. No pool but on the second floor there is a spa and a exercise room - all well done.
This location on the highway with the plant close by while convenient is not ideal. The restaurants are a walk away and the suspension bridge is worth taking in. We were told Foxy's (the restaurant on site) was closed for the weekend only to find out that it was actually open the night we were there. Not good communication for guests. Staff at check in were preoccupied with a caller and left us standing in the lobby for far too long.
The Highway 3 was very crooked and tiresome (valleys and mountains) for the drivers, but the location of that hotel was ideally central for the overnight stay for the tired travellers. The value of lodging was very high, however.
For the cost, accommodations rated as average deal. All satisfactory. Bed comfortable ...most important. Faint mildew smell in bathroom. Overall impression of room was a bit worn but still comfortable. Pleasant stay, big TV and plenty of channels for entertainment.
Stayed at the BW in Trail and were pleasantly surprised at how well run and upgraded this hotel is, we would stay again anytime. We were going to stay in Nelson's BW but found they did not offer a complimentary breakfast which we expect with Best Western. Anybody staying here will not be disappointed, great service and property
We arrived without a reservation thinking it would be easy to find a room in Trail. The staff were most accommodating to say the least. Great check in service - one of the best we have experienced. After a very long day behind the wheel, the bed did not disappoint. The breakfast was everything that we needed. We will make a point to stay here whenever in the area.
The exterior of the hotel may not look all that modern, but the rooms have been updated and the quality of those updates exceeded my expectations. I stay in a lot of hotels and these updates and the quality of the workmanship was noticeable.
The property is very well located and exceptionally clean and well kept. It seems brand new and it is very comfortable. The staff regularly went beyond expectations and made us feel very welcome and well supported. The restaurant served well prepared and delicious food but would benefit from a bit more light (remembering that it is a "lounge/restaurant" perhaps this is not unusual. I would be very happy to stay here again in the future. The hotel was full on several nights but never felt busy. The room doors are a bit thin and if there were some noisy guests it might be a problem. This is the only negative that I can think of.
Excellent Service, extremely friendly helpful staff. Excellent value for the cost. Would definitely recommend this hotel for either business and/or pleasure. Great location for downtown Trail and other amenities. Front staff super helpful. Foxy's servers - the best. Food at Foxy's good portions, good value. One of the best BW I have stayed at. Beds and pillows and duvets are the most comfy I have been in at a hotel. Free, fast internet usage. In-room coffee tasty. Bathroom spacious and incredibly clean. Front staff welcoming and accommodating. Express check-out very express.
Unfortunately it does not have a pool. But it is updated with great staff and service. Centrally located. Free breakfast is always iffe but this one was pretty good. Probably the best hotel in the valley.
It has been many years since I have travelled to this area of BC and looking for a hotel. My overnight stay was fine. The lounge, however, was great. The pork sandwich was different and very good. The ambience in the lounge is very cool; very well done. If I could only have some time for golf.
Warm hotel , managed by caring staff. This hotel is the best hotel in a 100 mile radius. I have used this hotel on numerous past occasions and continue to be very pleased with the Big City service and small city hospitality. I asked a number of the staff where they had gone to high school and all were graduates of the local school. A local family owned hotel employing local staff--- no transients here .
The overall hotel is just average but the amenities are great with a very good liquor store, a small gym and bar and restaurant and easy walking to the river of old town area. The elevators are still very slow the breakfast is okay with a good selection for everyone
The hotel has all the services one may require home away from home. The breakfast area is perfect and happy hour at the restaurant is affordable and enjoyable place to unwind. The check-in staff are efficient and the rooms are spotless and updated. They have a liquor outlet onsite. Wi-fi worked good and the large TV's were a bonus.
This was a really good hotel. Clean and staff very helpful. Good breakfast and nice happy hour prices in the bar. Would stay here again. Hotel is near downtown and close to a number of restaurants. It is also near the river walk which is a lovely place to take a walk. On the main road but we had no issues with noise
the hotel is a pure gem in the middle of beautiful countryside. the staff cannot do enough to help you and ensure that your stay is perfect. I only have one negative and that is the breakfast policy of the Best Western Corporation itself. I don't know what genius thought that the top level of service and quality given to the participating hotels have their guests make their own breakfast.all in all, one of the best Best WEstern properties I have stayed at.
I never got to actually stay here as the hotel cancelled my 2 room 1 week reservation one week before my stay. I had booked through one of the reputable online services and had paid up front. I'm sad to say the manager was not helpful at all and clearly could care less that they overbooked. As a company that travels for work quite a lot our employees stay a Best Westerns often, and have had good luck with the chain but clearly this franchise was looking for a higher room rate. Their callous attitude toward our pre-booking caused us to have to travel more than an hour to our destination. Bottom line is corporately we have chosen to give all Best Westerns a miss for a while and spend our money elsewhere.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. The place is clean. I've stayed many times and will likely return again. I like that there is a fridge in the room and that I can get a microwave as well. I also like the gym and hot tub. The breakfast is great as well.
The rooms are clean and quiet and we had a good nights sleep. It was hot, it always seems to be hot when we travel through Trail but the room was nice and cool and we had a great nights sleep. It was a Sunday and breakfast went all wrong the eggs were cold and by the time my husband got to them they were all gone and there was only one girl on so although I don't think this is normal something must have gone wrong too bad we were expecting a good breakfast to travel with.
Came to Trail to visit family, this was our Second time staying at the hotel and it was excellent. Good value, pleasant staff, nice room, clean, breakfast and internet. I would recommend and stay again.
Best service - best beds - best location. Easy access to all city services - walking trails - shopping - hiking - skiing - cross country and down hill at Red Mountain. If you like being pleasantly received and treated during your stay, stay here and prove me right!
Quiet, clean, comfortable, pleasant stay. Staff is helpful and warm. Delicious hot breakfast included. Fresh and several choices. Will definitely stay here again on our future visits to the beautiful West Kootenay area.
Very good service. Rooms are excellent with good wifi. Breakfast is great in a good atmosphere. Located in downtown Trail close to all facilities. Staff were very good on check in - we used the express checkout.
I've stayed at the Best Western Columbia River Hotel many times over the years on business travel. It truly is the best hotel in the West Kootenays. The property is so well run and maintained with wonderful staff who truly put great care in customer service and providing a pleasant guest experience. The rooms are extremely clean and well kept, with very nice renovations. The restaraunt/pub is also very nicely renovated and makes for an enjoyable and relaxing environment to wind down after a long day. I'll always make this hotel my #1 choice when travelling to the area. Great job everyone. You really do take great pride in providing a great guest experience. Thank You!
My stay at the Best Western Columbia River was excellant. Arron at the front desk has a passion for customer service that is unparralled. Holly was extremely helpful in regard to local restaurants and points of interest. Christie in the Breakfest area is a joy to start the day with. So kind! The hotel is clean. The Breakfest is- well its sausage, eggs, toast, waffles. Very good!
Recommended to us by AM Ford dealership while we awaited spare parts for our car. The hotel was modern clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Enjoyed a well presented and enjoyable supper in Foxies grill, taking full advantage of the happy hour specials, after an eventful journey over the Kootenay Pass.
Stayed here on Buisness for six weeks, would definitely come again, and it was great, free hot breakfast. Hotel staff were always going the extra mile here. Thanks best western trail! See you again soon.
The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are clean with attractive decor. All the staff friendly, pleasant and helpful. The convenience of an elevator and the morning breakfast room was appreciated. The location was central to where I wanted to go. Very enjoyable and comfortable stay.
We stayed several days while skiing at Red Mountain. The hotel is conveniently located to walk to the city center or take advantage of a walk on the River Trail. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. The heater worked. The hair dryer is hanging in the closest, so couldn't find it. The closet is very narrow and is hard to use. There is a fridge and coffee maker, but no microwave or freezer compartment in the fridge. They are a bit stingy on the towels, shampoo, soap, and such. We had to ask for another towel and made the mini toiletries last several days. They have a nice breakfast buffet with waffles, eggs, meat, yogurt, fruit, pastries, juice, and coffee. There was a ample selections and plenty to eat.
This Best Western is what you are to expect. Which is good. Unfortunately the price was steep for a place like Trail. In fact it was more then in some major tourist and business centers of gone too. And the room was nice but on the small size.
The staff and security of this hotel was amazing! Went out of their way to make me feel welcome and safe! Restaurant/bar has amazing food and drink choices, so many that I had trouble choosing what to order! Highly recommend!
Although it is an average hotel, it is the best in Trail BC. Room is average maybe a little small, Bar fridge is handy. Room décor is dated and the chairs are not the most comfortable. There is no kitchenette for patrons to use. Breakfast is average. There are only two suites in the hotel and they are often booked. Loyalty program upgrades are rare.
Service was very good. Average hotel but best in the area. Breakfast was included and was good but not spectacular. We were getting ready for bed and discovered dried blood on the pillow case. I took the pillow to the staff who were concerned but never heard another thing about it.
Great hotel, very clean & updated. Only downside is the rooms & beds are so small. We traveled with our daughter for hockey. The full size beds are tiny and great very comfortable if you're sleeping alone. There are only two room options in this hotel. A king bed with no pull out or a room with two "FULL" size beds. I wish they would have roll-aways, but they are not available at this facility. Would recommend to anyone, as it's a very nice hotel, just very small beds, which didn't provide a very good night sleep. Bar is absolutely beautiful, wait staff are excellent. Overall - Great Value, Beautiful Property
though, the room itself was very average and the bed was squeaky.... it was very clean and well maintained. a highlight of my stay was the breakfast.... a very full range of healthy morning choices... not your typical crappy store bought muffins. And the morning hostess was simply amazing, she was friendly helpful and fun. On day two she remember me and ask how my meetings had gone etc. she was simply lovely! Also the young lady who did my check in, was fabulous too, very very cheery and extremely helpful. the property was average... but the people were an A+++
Looks can be deceiving. Beds too soft. Lost confidential information. could not bill restaurant charges to room. Room was not cleaned very much on the second day. Dishes were not taken out. was not a happy camper.
at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Would stay again for sure.a nice free hit breakfast with new ce lady serving . Not ce and close to down town .
my husband and I stayed one night and the staff was fantastic. The front desk fella had a smile as soon as we walked in the door as well as all the other staff we saw. The room was exceptionally clean and the food was great in the lounge and breakfast the next morning was also very good. We would stay again and recommend it highly Thanks for the experience and will tell friends.
From the moment of check-in we were made to feel welcome and a valued customer of Best Western. The staff went out of their way to explain the different amenities and location of them that the hotel had to offer. The lounge/bar was very pleasant with well prepared food and a caring service person. Breakfast was well presented, served warm and you were welcome to fill your travelling coffee mug. I would highly recommend this facility to any traveller
Stayed with my son. Exterior of hotel looks old, needs a new paint color but once inside its much nicer. Can still tell its older building but its clean and nice decor. Crown mouldings and nice furniture. Free breakfast until 9am which was hard to get downstairs to somedays as being on holidays you want to sleep in, 9:30- 10 like most hotels would be great. Air conditioner when it kicked in was loud but after a few days we got used to it. The curtains are great blackout ones to keep sun out which was awesome. Staff were really nice and when I requested a microwave it brought up promptly. Beds & bedding are really comfy and there is nice big flat screen tvs. Bathroom is small (no fan) but is completely renovated and nice (granite).
The staff was super friendly and accommodating, bed was comfortable. The outside of the building could use an update but inside was comfortable. The bar staff was very helpful going above and beyond. The elevator needs updating, a little scary lol
This place is great. Very clean, very comfortable. Incredible views. Plenty of sights to see near by. Nicest hotel bed I may have ever slept in. Staff is also very friendly. Our family of 6 had a great time here.
This was a great hotel for the price. We booked in advance and noticed a different price the day we departed. The front desk staff assisted us with the lower rate. The room was comfortable, the exercise facility was perfect, the hot tub was very clean and inviting, and it had a nice breakfast.
My wife and i were travelling through BC from Kelowna to Alberta and decided to stay in Trail. After looking online at availability and prices, we decided to go with the Best Western Plus as i have stayed at other BWP hotels and have been very pleased with them. There was no disappointment here! The room was perfect......clean, modern and quiet. Very comfortable bed and the window even opened a touch to let in a bit of fresh air instead of using the A/C. The front desk staff (Aaron) was excellent! Greeted us right away....seamless check in....and good information about where to eat, etc. We were very impressed with his professionalism and enthusiasm. He looked like he enjoyed what he did, and it was refreshing to see. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is connected to a restaurant (Highly recommended, I will review it on its own as it was very good), and a liquor store which was great for grabbing some drinks and using the room mini fridge! Don't forget to have the complimentary HOT breakfast! It was perfect and has something for everyone. Very good value there. We would recommend this hotel and stay there again. Some people stated that is was expensive, but for what you get off the highway, it is comparable and above and beyond nice.
Surprised at the price $161 for senior in Trail BC on the highway?!! We had to move rooms because there was water coming from somewhere in the bathroom and making the carpet all wet in the entrance. Not nice to walk on with bare feet. Weird. In our second room the fridge ran all night and froze everything in it. No temperature gauge to change coolness and it was irritating to listen to all night. On the upside Happy hour at Foxy's was great. Front staff at check-in recommended the Bellini's and they were lovely at half price $3. Staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were clean and wifi was good. Air conditioner worked great. Volume on TV was locked at 20 which was a little difficult to hear, but good selection of channels. We enjoyed a walk down across the bridge over the Columbia River and the huge mural on the Museum.
This is one of my favorite places to stay, when I have to travel for work. Trail, B.C. is such a neat location, and this hotel is, perhaps, the very best the city has to offer. The hotel's staff are quite friendly, although that may be because they are Canadian (sorry, but Canadians, from my own experience, tend to be much friendlier then those of us from the U.S.). The rooms are always kept exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds, and......Well, the hotel is just very nice, in general. I always enjoy my stays there :)
- very comfortable bed - clean sheet and clean bathroom - bar soap was not preferred in my own opinion - very very polite and friendly staff - in the middle of a "highway" yet walking distance to the downtown of Trail - close to Foxy restaurant - food is alright, not bad - pretty pleasant stay for business trip - will recommend to colleagues and friends
Another great stay at this hotel. Staff at front desk are friendly. Rooms are modern. Cable selection was good. Wifi was good and did not kick out. There is a breakfast in the morning that has a good variety. There is an elevator at the lobby but can be quite slow sometimes.
Great hotel to pass through. It has a hot tub but it only fits 4 people in it and the fitness room is small but functional. The rooms are spacious and the king bed is heavenly! I'm looking into purchasing the mattress. The breakfast in the morning was good. Very satisfied with my stay. Check out Pino's Authentic Italian restaurant for dinner. It's walking distance from the hotel and is fantastic!
The hotel is a good place to stay .The staff is very friendly and helpful . I did not expect a rate of $ 157.69 plus taxes in Trail . I would go back just because of a well trained and friendly staff . Breakfast was good. Did not see to many other hotels in area .
Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Nicely updated. Basic breakfast comapared to other bw properties which could be improved upon. Eggs looked industrial. Room very good and updated. An attached restaurant, roxys, was also very good. The fitness area has several cardio and weight machines. It could benefit from some exercise mats and a better layout. Very nice place to stay and central to downtown for a walk.
We stayed in a queen suite and it was great. Super clean and comfortable. Great breakfast options and friendly staff. We enjoyed our short but satisfying stay, would've really loved at least one more night.
The hotel is easy to get to, the staff are very courteous, the room was clean. The included hot breakfast was your typical hot breakfast with eggs, waffles, and a meat. Overall it was a good place to stay.
My husband and I were headed to Osoyoos when are truck broke down. We got towed to trail in the middle of the night. When we came to find a room they were very accommodating and welcoming. The next morning we asked about a place to fix are truck and the man at the front desk gave us the best place to go and told us were not to go. I would come here every time hands down!!
Have stayed here a couple of times. The room was clean and a good size. The staff was friendly especially the breakfast person. The provided breakfast was good. There is a beverage store on site which is convenient. The motel is close to town and you could walk to restaurants but it's a few blocks. The on site restaurant is closed on Sundays.
Company over charged me months later. Tried to put a charge through my Credit Card. Will never stay there again. Called back months later when charged appeared and the person very arrogant and did nothing.
We were in Trail for a car show so rather than drive back to Colbert, we stayed overnight. The hotel gave a group (event rate for those of us who were involved in the car show. It was convenient and close to our friends house who had hosted a barbecue.
The people, the property, the lounge and the cleanliness of BW Plus Columbia River Hotel, BC, will win you over and keep you coming back. The genuine staff members leave a lasting impression, the atmosphere in the lounge, food, beverages, all excellent. Looking forward to my stay in 3 months. Can't wait.
We enjoyed our one-night stay here as we crossed BC along the Crowsnest Highway. At first, I was a little put-off by the fact that there was a liquor store attached to the hotel (there were some interesting folks hanging about when we arrived), but the hotel experience itself was good. The room was well-sized for a family of four. One big suggestion would be to add a fan in the bathroom. Ours had a low ceiling and a fan would have helped clear the steam after all four of us had our showers. We loved their commitment to being green, too.
Hotel was great, however I found it weird I had to unplug the tv to plug in the coffee maker. The ice buckets in the room should come with a disposable liner. One never knows what the guest prior had in the bucket! Other than that it was fine
Stayed at the Best Western in Trail and can not say enough about the staff who arranged for a late check-out and a taxi to the airport without me even asking. Free breakfast was also a nice touch and a convenience store/liquor store attached was great.
Location is great, food overpriced ,staff very friendly, room was updated but $159.00,not for this cowboy, did I mention the owner was very arragant and all he did was complain about the town....so sell
This hotel is in a great location in Trail. Right on the main highway and close to downtown. The hotel was spotless and the breakfast included scrambled eggs and sausage. The staff was very attentive. The bed was very comfortable.
This hotel is actually the only one in town but it is well-run. It is super clean! One can walk downtown easily and the staff is very knowledgeable . The hot tub was not working while we were there but there was adequate work out machines in the fitness room. The breakfast room and food was excellent. It was very organized and run by a very personable lady!
This is a very nicely updated hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated with nice furniture and amenities. Minor quibble a writing pad and pen would have been helpful. Restaurant surprisingly good for a small town. Portions perhaps overly generous.
This is a nice, well kept hotel, which is good since there are only another 2-3 hotels/motels in the area. The staff are friendly and efficient, the hotel is clean, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. They provide a decent breakfast and you probably can't ask for too much more!
We found the hotel to be clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a large restaurant, very much a Sports Bar, TVs muted but loud musak. The dinner was excellent. Free breakfast was good with hot and cold selections.
We found this hotel to be excellent. Great location and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful. The beds were the best. Sheets and towels were soft and comfortable. Internet worked perfectly as well as television. Having TV guide would be helpful but I guess we could have asked for one and did not. Probably because as two sisters we talked the whole time.
My husband and I had to go to Trail for a Medical Appointment and stayed at the Best Western Hotel for 2 nights. We were very happy with quality of the rooms the friendly and helpful service. The quality of the food inservice at Foxy's Restaurant and Lounge was excellent We would definitely recommend it to our friends and aquaintances.
Excellent hotel (only one in Trail) including the restaurant / bar (Foxies) with excellent food! It's about 15 min to Red Mountain, 50 to Whitewater. Trust me you won't leave the hotel as there is nothing available as far as decent restaurant / evening life! There is also a liquor store on the premises so no need to drive at night!
Stayed here for 1 night and was impressed. The room was great, bed comfortable. The restaurant food was good and as usual the breakfast was great. I would stay again if in the area and certainly recommend it...................................................................
The rooms were small so we were crowed and the oversize single beds made for a very long night because we were sharing the bed. If you are alone or a couple they would be fine, they were comfortable. The room was very clean, as was the rest of the hotel and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was your usual hotel fare, not outstanding but adequate and tasty. We would stay there again only if we were travelling as a couple and not with our family.
Trail has a real lack of good places to stay. You'd think that with all the money that has flowed through this town over the past +100 years of the smelter running that some of it would have stuck to a decent mid priced hotel. This place is fine. No surprises. No gems. No disappointments. It's a bit rich but who's going to argue over maybe $30 night. The breakfast is marginally above average. The beds are great. The black out curtains do the job. It's clean and quiet. I'd prefer to stay in Rossland 10 kms up the hill as Trail is slowly decaying as Teck reduces their workforce through automation. Walking around Trail in the AM, although bigger than Rossland, is far more sad than walking the few blocks of Rossland. Too bad. Trail was once a great Cominco company town. Now it's just a sad skeleton lacking choice in accommodation.
Stayed for approx 8 days over 2 weeks. All staff were friendly to deal with. The rooms are modern. They do have a breakfast in the morning but I never did make it there but heard it was decent. It is generally a quiet room, but even being on the 4th floor you could still hear the traffic and the customers entering the liquor store. The wifi was good, cable selection was the typical basic selection. If your in the region this is the place to stay.
The hotel is a reliable if unspectacular place to stay in Trail. It is very well located near downtown, and although it is on a busy highway, there is very little traffic noise. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Breakfasts are not great, but provide the basics to start the day. Staff are very pleasant. Price is a bit high, but there's a lack of competition in town.
This is one of the best experiences I have had at Best Western. The room was clean, walking distance to where I needed to be, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the food quality at the restaurant (Foxy's) was really good and the breakfast was really good as well. I am very happy with my stay and would definitely come back the next time I visit Trail.
I was in Trail on business and stayed at this hotel. It is right off the main road through town, so I was concerned it would be noisy but it was not. It has obviously been fairly recently renovated, and the rooms were very nice. They are not huge, but are an adequate size, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. There is the usual desk and dresser, with a flat screen TV, and a nice touch of a charging station on the desk with two plug ins and two USB ports. The bathroom was clean, the linens were fresh and the shower pressure was great. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, offering good suggestions for where to eat and where to go for a walk. They loaned me and my colleague knives so we could eat some fruit in our rooms. The location is very central, just a short walk to downtown, where there is a neat little place serving breakfast, ice cream and organic coffee, and about a 5 minute walk across the Trail bridge brings you to a stairwell down to a sidewalk along the Columbia riverbank. A few minutes on that takes you to Gyro park which is a very nice peaceful morning walk. The only thing which would have been nice would have been a recycling bin either in the lobby or in the room for water bottles and such.
Visited while skiing Red Mountain outside nearby Rossland BC. Went there President's weekend; nil left in Rossland for rooms; booked here instead. About 5 miles from Rossland, still convenient to the ski hill. Rooms fairly large-2 queens were not tight-and adequately but not luxuriously furnished; fairly new looking and very clean. Free breakfast was better than some hotels; waffles/eggs/bacon/cereal/fruit/yogurt; nice bar on main level as well. Free parking. Friendly/accommodating & helpful staff. Only downside was relatively high price. I'd stay again.
I live in Trail so have not stayed in the hotel although friends who stay there tell me how impressed they are. It is a very well-kept, clean, modern hotel. I have eaten in the dining room, Foxie's, but don't go there often. It isn't that the food isn't good - it is quite good, and pretty reasonably priced considering you are getting fine dining when it is really bar food. If it is that good, why don't I go there more often? Because the hotel owners won't give anyone a break when coming to town for a conference or special event. I support businesses in town that support the community.
I stayed at this location for a week on a business trip. I found everyone, from housekeeping to front desk and to the restaurant as excellent! The food is great, the atmosphere is also great. Each day I found another reason to be happy with my choice to stay here.
I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western River hotel. Everyone was helpful and professional and I found the accommodations met my professional and personal needs very well. Thank you for providing a home away from home.
No offer of a corporate rate and refused to honor points for a free night. Had no choice but to stay as I had appt in am. 189 for 1 night off season way too much for what it is. Only redeeming part was the dinner at the restaurant downstairs, was very good.
I could tell this hotel was renovated recently as it was classier than I expected, and super high-detailed clean. The beds were comfortable. Restaurant was mediocre and very expensive, but the complimentary breakfast had lots of options that I enjoyed (eggs, baked goods, fresh fruit, etc). I was snowed in to Trail and had no option but to stay here a couple nights. The "distressed rate" was a lot more than I expected it to be, considering my circumstances. It wasn't any lower than prices I'd seen quoted online. But the service was great, and I appreciated the proximity to downtown so I could enjoy my evenings out, shopping, and dining in town since I didn't care for the hotel restaurant. The only cheaper option worth staying at is the Glenwood, but the location is no good there if its winter and you need to get around on foot like I did.
We come to Trail often and only stay here. Never a problem and rooms are clean. Staff is friendly and the breakfast is good to grab and go. The restaurant is good too when it's open. We also like the beds and the family suite is good as well. I do wish the bathrooms had more space to put your things. We will stay again.
All of the Best Western properties where I've stayed were very good with product and service but this one in Trail, BC, is priced at $139 compared to most others at $109 or lower and some as low as $79. This makes the value of the Trail property somewhat lower than other Best Westerns.
Rooms are clean but small. I wouldn't want to have more then the 2 of us in the room. But we are only there to crash after a Christmas Party ...The bed is comfortable , good pillows, nice toiletries ... Breakfast was included with the room. But they need a lesson on Breakfast...Eggs tasted like Fake Butter; Waffle batter.. made a really tough waffle..the teeny tiny ham medallions had 3 sad little pieces left. didn't appear to be any staff checking on the food line , until it was time to close up. Coffee was good...
Stayed here for one night. This is a return visit for ne and I will be ba k again. Great staff. Very clean. It has a restaurant/lounge attached that has great food and a liquor store as well. Super comfy bed and big tv. Included hot breakfast bar with a nice variety of eggs, sausage, fruit, waffles, cereal etc. I will be back!
I had book a non-refundable rate on the best western site, and i had a delayed due to weather and flights weren't able to come into Castlegar. I called an asked and notified the hotel that I cannot show up on day 1, and making sure there weren't a no-show. The hotel staff at the time acknowledges my absence and make sure my room was still available the following day, and furthermore he told me he will look into see what he can do about the cancellation (although he did not have the authority to do so). Booking non-refundable assumes the risk of inclination of weather, etc... But i later got a call from the hotel (1 hr or so) from the same individual saying that not only my hotel room booking is okay, also, my 1st night has been refunded. This is awesome, as this is something they went out of their way to do for me!
I travel to Trail, BC regularly on business and I always stay at the Best Western PLUS Columbia River. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and professional. Every time I check in they make you feel welcomed. The onsite restaurant is superb, great food and super staff. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Good value.
The Best Western Hotel in Trail is clean, comfortable and centrally located near the historic downtown area. The bed was excellent. The restaurant has good food and very good service. I enjoyed walking through the downtown area, stopping at the Trail Coffee and Tea Company for a chat with the local owner and climbing the covered stairs for a walk through the historic neighbourhood.
Always very courteous staff. The rooms are very clean and the beds amazing! Whether you use SHAW OPEN or the in house Wi fi reception is great. The restaurant lounge "foxy" has good food and the drinks are not over priced. The happy hour is a great deal, especially after a long drive.
The BW Plus Columbia River Hotel is arguably the best property to stay at in Trail. We spent a couple of nights there and they met the higher standards you might expect in a BW Plus rated hotel. Our room was modern, clean, comfortable and quiet, though you might find rooms closer to the main drag to be more affected by traffic noise. Internet was ok, but not the greatest in terms of speed. Having an in-room small fridge was a bonus. The parking lot is a bit chopped-up though it seems like there's ample capacity and if need be, bags can be dropped near the main entry. The lobby area itself is small and nondescript and our check-in by the front desk staff was polite and efficient. The onsite lounge offered a pretty reasonable Happy Hour with fair discounts on drinks and appies, worth stopping by! The Fitness Room is very basic, fairly congested with a few pieces of universal equipment with an adjacent hot tub. The overnight stay comes with breakfast. It was average with a few hot items (scrambled eggs, ham, waffles), pastries, yogurt, fruit, coffee, but still nice to have available nonetheless! Location of the Best Western in downtown Trail is excellent, everything is pretty much walkable. Overall, next time we visit Trail we'll definitely stay again!
No restaurant or bar service on Sundays. After a long drive very disappointing - will not stay there again on Sunday - Front desk staff suggested a restaurant which was in the general area of the hotel.
Don't expect to use your computer or have cheap phone (if you are from the States) Very clean Tons of towels Bring your own stuff if you want to use fitness center CHARACTER BUILDER MORE CHARACTERS AND ANOTHER ROUND
Not my first time staying at this hotel. Have not been disappointed yet. Front desk is steady as the staff has been the same the last couple of years. However, the breakfast is okay - quality is good but we all look for different items, For myself I would like to have hard boil eggs.
The very friendly staff, great complimentary breakfast that had a personal touch, the clean and well equipped rooms all made our stay very enjoyable. It would be easy to make a personal recommendation to anybody looking for a place to stay in Trail to suggest this hotel.
Best Western PLUS Columbia River Hotel in Trail, British Columbia, is a nice hotel, conveniently located for any leisure activities in the Trail area, and right by the Teck Trail Operations if you are doing business there. The onsite lounge and restaurant is good. The breakfast bar is decent quality and convenient. The rooms are fairly well kept up and clean.
I took my parents here for an evening before my moms surgery in Trail BC. The room was spotless, beds were comfortable, staff very friendly and an awesome breakfast to start the day! Kudos to all who work there! Great job everyone! I highly recommend anyone going to Trail, to have a great nights sleep here.
It was a bit expensive for an older property with small rooms. It was clean and quiet. Staff seemed somewhat undertrained but were very nice and trying hard. The lounge was very expensive with mediocre food.
