Terrible experience. Smoke detector was in a drawer, not function. TV didn't work. Will never go back. Sketchy neighborhood. The front desk was helpful and we were abke to get anither room where the TzvmV worked and the smoke detector appear operational. Find another hotel.
The management are scammers. We were charged for our room twice, pet fees and $20 for a late check out and almost 3 weeks later they still refuse to answer the phone for our 3rd party booker so that a refund can be processed. The manager is rude and lies saying your payment is t received yet I have never had that problem any other place while using hotels.com. They're fraudulent in their charges, watch your statements
Overall this location needs an upgrade. Rooms were not clean especially the bathrooms. Toilets were not clean and tubs floor were not clean. My sister switched to the third room and the front desk lady basically said if she did not take that one, they couldn't stay anymore.
Holes in door, Oder, spoiled milk in refrigerator, sink wouldn't drain, bathtub was filthy. I would caution any and all travelers to avoid staying at this hotel. If the cost were free it would be way too much.
The Hotel Facility was fine maybe. A little above average. I like to walk to dinner after a day of travelling. Within five minutes walk I happened upon a non- script Mexican Restaurant! This family friendly diner welcomed me and provided me with the best Mexican dinner I have ever had (the pork was outstanding)! If you find yourself in Topeka book the SureStay by Best Western and buckle up for the best authentic Mexican food anywhere!!! Ranked #1 in Topeka it is honestly the best. Book the SureStay and get to Jorge's Cantina before it gets discovered…
When checking in the worker at the front desk was sleeping. I waited a few minutes and then she finally saw I was waiting for her. She asked my name and then dozed off and had to ask it again a couple of times. She was dozing off a couple of times and falling to the side. Finally got a room and it was dirty, old sheets, not made up, trash in the bedroom, so then had to go get a new room. Did get a cleaner room, but saw a bug in the bathroom and tub looked dirty. Just wasn't what I'm used to with a Best Western type of hotel.
I really wish I had come here and read the reviews. Photos on my Best Western App were deceiving. Check-in was not good. Told there was no elevator and we were on second floor. Clerk went on to tell us how the manager picks all the rooms and no one is allowed to change. So we get to our room and five minutes later clerk is knocking on the door telling us we MUST move to the room next door because a traveling nurse ALWAYS gets the room we're in and the manager is making us move. We do. New room smells of smoke and cleaning fluid even though door shows it's a non-smoking room. Furniture is chipped up and there's a much smaller tv and no remote. Try to call front desk … no answer. Finally go back downstairs and they find a replacement remote. Bathroom has ugly panel bolted on behind tub facet where they must have had to work on plumbing and didn't finish out the tub enclosure. Peephole in door is completely broken and had toilet paper crammed in it. I've come to expect much better of Best Western. We have been staying a several the past few years and had wonderful experiences… this is the worst I've ever stayed at.
Would not recommend! Rooms/bathrooms and hallways/carpet need updating. No elevator. Disgusting smell on the first night, marijuana smell on second night. Complained to staff and she did nothing.
When I checked in, it was obvious that there were problems with the room. The toilet didn't flush. The door didn't shut on its own. Worst of all: I FOUND A BAD WITH FECES IN IT WRAPPED IN A TOWEL AND LEFT IN A DRESSER DRAWER. Obviously, the room had not been properly cleaned or prepared. I went to the front desk and said I'd need a different room. "No!" said the clerk before she even knew the problem. I told her the problem. She said "sorry, but we're full". I told her to contact another hotel and put me there. She refused. The bed looked clean enough, so I decided to make the best of it. The motel has a "business center", but the computer doesn't work. I went to the front desk. The same (white, heavy makeup) clerk said she knew nothing about the computer: "no one ever uses it." She then told me her shift had ended and she was leaving. She then promptly walked out the door. I had stayed at that hotel before without incident. But, I shall not stay there again, ever! I called Best Western. I asked for nothing; I just wanted to tell them about the horrible motel and that I shall not be staying there again. I was thanked, but doubt anything will be done about it. So, there you have it. If you want an unclean room and a desk clerk with attitude, this place is for you. If you expect a clean room and to be treated with common courtesy, don't stay here.
This place is terrible. I looked past the reviews and sure wish I wouldn't have. Staff is rude, beds are hard, drugs are rampant all over the property. Doors slamming, won't honor online price then refuse to refund their part.
We were given keys to another guest room so embarrassing. Our room was not cleaned well dirty towels. The property is in disrepair needs maintenance. Sidewalk were not shoveled and deiced. Worst hotel I have stayed at ever.
Very nice place to stay. The staff were all very nice. The room was clean. The food was very good. Bed was comfortable. If you are in the area I would highly recommend this Best Western. Good price, good food, great staff!
Many broken or underserviced areas of the hotel. Including broken front doors and toilets. The room itself seemed as though the housekeeper was in a hurry. Carpet looked as though it had not been vacuumed. The coffee was not restocked. The toilet seat was broken and the door had to be manually manipulated to close properly.
The foyer was the only part of the hotel that was nice and updated. The room was not clean (bedding and bathroom) and smelled musty. The only good thing was the breakfast. Was very disappointed in this property.
Very clean and comfortable. Great mattress and pillows. Located right off the interstate, so easy to get to. Very friendly and courteous staff. Breakfast was delicious including sausage, gravy and biscuits, waffles , fruit, cereal, juice yogurt, except for the omelets were the premade kind.
Paid for jacuzzi in room, but no hot water ran for the tub. Shower in the bathroom at least had it. No smoke detector in room, which I'm sure the local fire department would love to know. Also was greeted in the morning by a cockroach in the bathroom before setting out. Only reason why I didn't cancel/fuss was because of hpw exhausted I was after a 16+ hour drive, and needing to nap for the next leg of the trip. I would have rather spent the night sleeping in my car, but I try to get a room with a tub to relieve sore muscles when I drive for so long.
Person on the front desk was very rude asked her if I will get bonus rewards she said no cause you got the rate for cheap I'm not sure if that's the policy I also asked her the location of any restaurants in the area her response was are you looking for a Chinese restaurant I'm Filipino funny she assumed I was Chinese not nice I took offense on that
Arrived and went to check in a the staff seemed to be high as a kite, went to the room and it smelled like someone just got done smoking in there, one of the tvs didn't work, the phone didn't work, and the ac didn't blow out cold air went to tell front desk they gave me a can of Febreze. Morning staff was walking around with cigarettes in there mouth. I would not recommend this hotel.
Beds were comfy, room clean, but it did seem a bit humid despite the a/c. Slight musty smell, but not bothersome and we slept well. The location of the hotel is extremely convenient to the interstate.
I had a lovely time staying in this hotel with my family. There was a hot pool and a cold pool, we really enjoyed it there. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The breakfast had so many varieties and it was very nice. Overall my experience was supervised.
Older facility. Had ann odor. Not pet or mildew , just old. All amenities functioned. Breakfast not good. Staff was great! Convenient location as was right off freeway. Easy to find, dog park less than 2 miles away.
Poor service, nothing worked and bad communication. The breakfast was good. One Television and two lamps didn't work. The bed was comfortable but it looked like a blood stain was on one of the pillows. I tried to communicate with cleaning lady. She was nice but didn't speak English.
We have stayed here several times over the past year and each time we have been welcomed in a warm, friendly way and made to feel like family. The rooms have been clean and the quality of service and accommodations have been top notch each time. We are greeted and treated like family!
Very slow check-in as clerk chatted and laughed it up with everyone passing through lobby. Filthy carpets in hallways and on stairs. Was given an old, very used, very dirty key card sleeve because "it already had my room number written on it". Toilet in first room didn't flush but at least I was allowed to change rooms without too much trouble -- based on other reviews I was lucky. Avoid this place at all costs.
King suite. 5 degrees at check in inside room. Wasn't willing to give us another room until I waited an hour with a sleeping child in the hallway. Room only went up one degree that entire time. It was 9 outside! No extra blankets for her while we waited because I was told they were stolen. Took me crying and melting down to finally get another room for us!
Be aware this hotel has no elevator so if you need a first floor room you must request at booking. Also we encountered burned out light bulbs and broken fixtures. We reported them at the time we discovered them but no action was taken to fix or replace them
Believe the other reviews - this place is terrible and there is no support if something goes wrong. Arriving at 9:30 pm with a reservation, we were given a dirty room that had not been cleaned and told take it or leave it. Not wanting to hunt around a strange city for another hotel at that hour, we changed the sheets ourselves, wiped the room down, and got rid of the previous guest's towels. Neither the evening nor morning desk clerks said they could do anything for us, but did promise to give my name and number to the GM. I never heard anything. I emailed corporate and have also heard nothing. I understand that hiring is tough right now, but a simple apology would go a long way, never mind a discount or some extra points on my account. Best Western doesn't care.
I booked this room online through the BW web site and requested a ground-floor room, if possible. Also used their online check-in service, but that, apparently, did nothing. I am a Platinum Level Best Western Rewards member and was using some of my points to pay for this room. At check-in, it appeared that the staff had not read my request for a ground floor room and thus, didn't honor the request. No elevator meant that I had to lug my stuff upstairs by myself. The reason I requested ground floor is because I had recently had back surgery and wasn't suppose to do the kind of lifting that it required for me to get to the second floor with my baggage. Then, the desk clerk ran my card and told me that it had been declined because it wasn't the card that they had on record. Since I booked online and was using points, I didn't use a credit card to make the reservation and I pointed that out to her. After a mumbled conversation with someone in a room behind the front desk, whom I assumed was a night manager or something, she came back and fiddled with the computer until my card was accepted. I lugged my stuff up to my room and found the room just looked worn. Not dirty, so much as just worn. There was dust on the base of the bedside table lamp and a white stain of something on the armchair cushion. The AC wasn't running when I came into the room, so I tried to make it work. However, the control buttons were worn down to the point of not being able to see which button did what. I punched some buttons randomly and the unit started putting out cold air and I went to bed. Soon, though, the room was too cold, so I got up and looked for an extra blanket in the closet, but there wasn't one. Went over and turned the unit off (that button was clearly marked) and got back into bed only to discover that, in the quiet without the AC, I could hear the person in the room next-door snoring. The walls were that thin. So, through the night I alternated between turning the AC on, so I could drown out the snoring in the next room and freezing, and turning it off to be comfortable. The light/fan in the bathroom was so noisy I couldn't leave the light on for safety. I got about 3 non-consecutive hours of sleep off and on that night. All in all, the stay was deplorable from check-in to check-out.
Awful service and y will get harrassed I never got my money back at all . Horrible just horrid service no respect . I will be reporting to the better business bureau there is nothing good about this hotel I hated every second of my stay . Horrible horrible horrible horrible I give this hotel a no star ratingndjdjdjdjdjdjdjdjrjrjrjjfjdjdjdjdjdjrjdjejedhejdhddhrhhfrfhf
Bed Bug infestation in room 103. I found a large nest and was bitten several times. once i moved rooms at 2 in the am i was not given my money back. even worse they checked another family into that same room without cleaning it or telling them about the bed bug infestation. after we informed the mother she quickly removed her children from the room and was angry with hotel staff. i stayed 9/24
We stayed for a night for a family wedding near town. It was a great stay for the price. There was an amazing hot and cold breakfast. There was lots of coffee around. The rooms were clean and spacious. Would stay here again.
Over all the hotel was nice. It was very affordable and the staff was nice. There were a few minor issues. The room was not very clean, the furniture was very worn, none of the dolly's worked, and they didn't have allergy alternative foods like the other best westerns we have stayed at.
This facility is clean and well maintained. The staff is very courteous, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious! We will definitely be back on future visits to the area! The location is right off I-70 so convenient for any destination.
It was for work around the area of Kansas Topeka to work on cell tower to get up the phone call running for the site to make sure that it works for LTE around the area to get signal for T mobile for people.
This is not the standard that I have come to know as a platinum Best Western customer do not ever stay at this location go pick a different hotel the owners are horrible unprofessional and rude and the rooms are filthy the hot tub was not working when I called and I was told it was so I was lied to I was in town trying to house up and had to find new lodging in the middle and end up having to stay an extra day and now I am fighting billing
Everything was very good. They told me if I needed anything to make my stay great to just ask. Very nice hearing something like that. Room was great and clean. Used the pool area. Breakfast was really good.
Along I-70, this Best Western is conveniently located in a quiet locale. No roaring trucks, comfortable bed and close enough to restaurants for any menu. Staff is welcoming and cheerful. Always nice to have a smiling face after a full day of driving.
This has possibly been the worst hotel experience in my life. We are senior citizens and were running a little late so we called the hotel to let them know. They said no problem. We arrived and learned they placed us on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator in the building. Major problem. Then, upon entering our hotel room, it as occupied. TV was running, sheets and towels were all over the floor. Then they placed us on the first floor. (Why not immediately - we're senior citizens! 67 & 70 yrs old!!). That room was filthy! I took a shower and walked from bathroom towards my bed and my feet were black from walking on the carpet. Disgusting does not even describe it. YOU SHOULD REFUND OUR MONEY! A complete and udder failure on your part. I will place this on FB and Twitter and every where I can. Completely unacceptable!! A blatant rip-off. Plus, price was totally different from what we reserved. Do not stay here. Roaches, bugs, filth and broken furniture. A ghetto would be cleaner and safer.
The staff was very helpful in recommending a good place to eat. Breakfast was great. The room was very clean and the in room coffee machine worked. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice with plenty of towels.
I really like the hospitality at this location. It's better than most of the Plus properties I stay at. The manager is super friendly and always goes above and beyond to ensure I have a great stay. Love the rooms and the pool as well.
Looks like they've done a lot of work since I last came here in 2019. Everything looks new and is very nice. Glad to be traveling for work again and this was and still is a favorite of mine. The staff was very nice and everything was great.
It was our 1st time visiting Topeka and we stayed here, the staff was excellent and welcoming. We had a good night sleep in our room. Next day we checked out and grab few go to items for breakfast. Overall good experience.
When you walk in, the lobby is beautiful, after you get passed the lobby, that's when it goes downhill. Our room had a lot of issues. Tv scratched, electrical outlet falling out of the wall, cracked picture frame, etc. I was excited about the pool & hot tub until I saw them. They were disgusting. Water level was way too low, both were dirty on the bottom, looked like the pool was rusting, I saw mold in the pool room, & the hot tub wasn't even hot it was lukewarm at best. I stuck my foot in the water & that's as far as I got.
Felt very welcome from the moment my husband and I walked in. We are long time Best Western Rewards members. We used our points to stay here for the night on our way to see some family in Kansas City. It was very convenient location for a quick stop. My husband likes to swim before bed, which was great because there was an indoor pool. The room felt very nice to us and had a great night sleep. The next morning we grabbed a few items for breakfast and headed out. It was great.
Broken toilet seat, no light/fan, stained bed cover, dirty carpets, broken juice dispenser at breakfast so you got warm juice. They were going to have and inspection the next week and couldn't possibly pass on any level. In need of some serious upgrading.
The room was in shambles. The toliet was not seated, the AC/Heater was defective, the TV remote was defective & there were cracks that were exposed in the ceiling causing debris to fall to the floor. Additionally the room wasn't cleaned and there were cigarette ashes in the bathroom & on the sink.
Hotel staff was nice and did the best they could to help. The hotel itself is overpriced for what it is and the rooms are noisy. We could hear the people above us walking around all night and outside in the hallway a yelling match with threats of the police being called. Things happen and that is understandable but we were offered no compensation. Overall disappointment in both Best western hotels we stayed at during this trip. After the experience at the 2nd one we decided to stay elsewhere during the rest of our trip.
Very dirty rooms. In need of repairs. Rooms were run down and not clean. Toilets had not been cleaned and disinfected. Foreign splatters on the bathroom wall and shower that looked like blood. The breakfast was disappointing as well. No condiments were put out for the waffles.
I was very impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel. I stay sometimes at Best Western Hotel's, this was by far the best. It felt new and clean. Great big room and very good stay. I liked it a lot!!!
Came into Topeka for some local events that my work had planned. I didn't spend a whole lot of time in my room as I was at the events a great deal. It felt nice coming back to a comfortable room with the heat on.
Spent almost a week here for the holidays and to see my family. They recommended this hotel as it was 2 blocks from their house. I had a good stay and didn't have a single issue. The room was very nicely decorated and the hotel was very secure.
I know it was Thanksgiving evening but after a long day's drive to arrive and no one at the front desk was a bit disconcerting. A sign at the front desk said, "Back in 20 minutes" after 20 minutes no one arrived and being tired and cold we called the hotel number and the person stated she would be right down. She was fixing someone's TV (more on that later!). We checke,d in and the room was OK - we soon discovered some type on insects on our pillows and being exhausted just asked for new ones rather than change rooms (as we throughly checked the beds, mattress, sheets and did not find anything else). When we went to put our TV on we discovered it also did not work but again- too tired so did not try to get fixed. The highway exit prior to ths one had many hotels, restaurants, etc but this exit is rather deserted feeling and we were too tired to get back in the car to find a place to eat. Upside was there was a breakfast in the morning.
Pot smoke so thick and the pool has black mold and hot tub water is brown. We left and went to another hotel. The bedding and side had stains all over them along with no water pressure in shower and toilet did not flush. Disgusting hotel.
Blood on the sheets was the standard care package at this hotel. The GM lies, up charges you if you eat too much food at their breakfast bar, and the staff interrogate you for your room number and go in to see if you've destroyed it while you're still technically assigned to it. They yell, embarrass, and steal from you without any discussion. They lie to you without even thinking and the actual owner called me a racist on a public forum. Do not ever stay here! Best westerns corporate will offer you no help either. They're a worthless garbage hotel chain. Let's make sure they know that customer service is actually required to stay in business.
The decal on the front door showed a motel rating of 8 but it was NOT our experience. The motel has seen its better days and in the room it was not the cleanest and the lock on the door did not work from the inside for nightly security. The breakfast was less than good as there was no syrup for the waffles and the front desk made no move to look for syrup and said i had to use peanut butter and the egg omelets had about two slivers of cheese.
I come to Topeka once a quarter. I've stayed at this location before, but I remember it much differently. It feels brand new inside, they really upgraded this hotel. So CLEAN!!! The price is super reasonable and cheaper than other places that aren't nearly as nice. It's my new favorite.
The check-in was not too bad and they have a pool and a jacuzzi. The first room they gave me was #209. It was still being cleaned so I had to return to the front desk. I got room #224 and the room was big and it had a nice bed. But there was no remote for the television. So I couldn't watch television. I have this hotel booked again on October 16 for another trip to Topeka. But I may cancel this reservation and booking another hotel. So far I haven't been impressed of this hotel. But I thought I would give them a chance since I never stayed at a best Western and I like to try new hotels. Because I like to compare the chain's of hotels and see which one is better. But I will be probably canceling this next reservation and booking another hotel. So I would say it's up to you if you want to stay here or not but I would not recommend it.
This should be called Worst Western, because it is. Booked this dump of a hotel while on the road through HOtels.com. This room is non refundable , which is crap because the place is NOTHING like it was advertised? Hotels are no longer an inexpensive place to spend the night and this one cost us 95 bucks. The hotel did not have a functioning pool and was a dirty dump. I complained to the the hotel staff and they said the manager is not on duty and they can't do anything. Best Western should have advertised on Hotels.com that they have no working pool or an ice maker. We chose this hotel because of the pool and hotels are supposed to have ice makers. Our curtains are broken, the towel rod is broken and our phone does not work. Our bathtub looks as if it is smeared with feces on the outside and there is a hole in the wall next to the bed and behind the door. This places gives a horrible name for Best Western. It is rundown, very dirty everywhere and although they have construction going on, they least they could do is vacuum and pick up trash. The exterior doors also do not lock so it is very dangerous because anyone can come in the place.
We are BW Platinum members and are reconsidering our use of BW based on this experience. As soon as we drove into the parking lot we regretted this reservation. It's an old building that has had a coat of paint slapped on and opened. Surroundings dilapidated. BW should not have allowed this property to be opened under its name!!. Our bathroom had a ceiling light/fan cover that was hanging down and exposing old insulation and wiring. The lighting in the room was horrible. Carpet and tile flooring looked old. Breakfast room way too small and crowded for the number of rooms. The most unpleasant hotel experience in years!
Room was booked by our travel agent based on rating and price with military discount. Sadly, the ratings were not true for us. Room 101 was terrible. The shower valve was broken so we couldn't shower in the morning. The electrical connection in the lamp was loose and unsafe. One of the lights in the room wouldn't work. And the external lock on the side door wouldn't open with a properly programmed (twice) key. Lastly, the air conditioner over the side door was dripping on the awning over the door leaving a puddle out side the door and you would get wet if you didn't dodge the dripping stream on your way in or out. The place needs a lot of renovation. We won't be back.
The rooms we were assigned were both dirty (chunks of food on the carpet), urine on the toilet, dirty towels in the tub when we first walked in. The second room also had chunks of food on the carpet and the shower curtain had mold and mildew on it. The TV had no remote. The front desk did not answer calls. The chlorine in the pool room burned my eyes and I didn't even get in the water. The landscaping was weeds.
If you done mind walking stairs and once the place is finished renovations I am sure this is a good hotel. I wish I had checked to see if there was an elevator. They are still working on the furniture replacement, carpets not yet done.
What a wonderful place to stay at. From a wonderful fast check in process to an amazing breakfast, can't wait to come back on our way back to Florida. Thank you so much Best Western & see you soon!!!!!!!!
My family stayed here July 11, 2021. What a mistake! When booking, we asked if we were talking to the hotel direct. The man said "yes" and we continued to book. We were told all discounts would be taken care of at check-in. When we arrived, we were told we booked through a third party. (no discounts, and could not give us a receipt upon checkout). The woman said we have to be VERY careful booking.....those people are VERY SNEAKY! The hall carpets and room carpets were FILTHY! On the internet the 2 queen suite with sofa looked great! Upon entering the room, there were 2 queen beds and a chair with an ottoman. The carpet was filthy. 4 people in the room....2 washcloths, 2 towels. Sheets were stained! The breakfast chairs were stained and dirty. NOT what I expect from a Best Western!! NEVER AGAIN!! This facility is misrepresenting the rooms on the internet pictures.
We just checked in and this is by far the nastiest hotel I have stayed in since 1983. If we were not dead tired… traveling with other people and everybody luggage out and to room we would not be staying ..From the filthy corridor to the pile of hair on my shower drain, 1 towel in my room, toilet that won't stop running…hair in our ice bucket… prior occupants leftover food in the fridge… do I need to go on??!
I wanted to like this hotel but I couldn't. We have been traveling across the country from Seattle and this is by far the worst room AND worst breakfast we have experienced. It is certainly not up to the Best Western standards. The room was tired, worn and unloved. The base of the tub was so gross that we wanted to wear flip-flops. The refrigerator racks were mostly broken or missing. The air conditioner has a fan setting of auto, low and high but only the auto worked so we could not run the fan constantly and it cycled on and off all night. The curtains are half way off the rod and difficult to open/close. The plugs in the walls were very worn and would not hold charging plugs in. The room was dark and not very clean. We found a prescription pill and other things on the floor. They need to move chairs, etc., and vacuum the entire room once in a while. The rug is falling apart as you enter the bathroom and there are several long strings that could be trimmed. The electronic lock on the door only worked the second time we tried it. Additionally the rooms are not quiet. We could hear the people next door talking last night and once the person upstairs got up at 5 AM in the morning, sleep time was over for us. The breakfast had sausage patties, pre-made omelettes, biscuits and gravy, and a few yogurts. There was coffee and juice. Sounds ok until you notice what was not there: hot water and tea, hot chocolate, butter, jams, cereals, milk, etc. We asked at the front desk and were told the offerings were limited due to Covid but we have been traveling for many days and other hotels have figured it out. There is no elevator so if you have lots of luggage don't get a second floor room. But your best choice would be to stay elsewhere until they start to maintain the rooms at this hotel. They really are that bad.
Unfortunately the staff is not friendly and professional. The lady at the check-in was smoking and in private conversation on the phone when I arrived. It took her 15 minutes to realize that I and other customers are waiting. She charged the wrong amount on my CreditCard. The Manager fixed that the next morning, but be careful!
NASTY and horrible - torn carpet, beat up furniture, dimly lit, stopped up sink, bathtub complete with soap scum, bug running across the sheets when I turned down the bed (which also had a dirty spread plus sheets were stained and had hair on them. Microwave and frig did not seem to be working. Asked for another room - was told there was none available. Made three or four trips to front desk between 10PM and 1AM to try to get some resolution. Finally was given some sheets that I put on top of the bed to sleep on. I asked for a blanket and was told they had all been stolen. I asked that I not be charged or at least get a discount - denied by a very rude manager woman who was not on site but I later spoke to by phone and could barely get a word in over her yelling. She charged me full price. I would have slept in the car if there had been room. I was scheduled at another Best Western the next night. This was such a horrible experience that I cancelled and booked at a LaQuinta instead - which was very clean. This Best Western should be shut down by the health department. No one should be exposed to such filth, much less be expected to pay for it. Had it not been so late I would have looked for another place to stay. But being 1AM on Memorial Day weekend when it became clear how bad it was, it seemed clear that I would have no luck finding anything else if this nasty place was full.
Let me first say that my Kids very much enjoyed our stay here. The hot tub and pool were great activities for all of us. The pool area is very large as we were able to share the space with another family. The room and beds were very comfortable. The staff kept the pool area clean and stocked with towels. The desk clerk was very very hospitable. Next time we are in Topeka this is our hotel of choice.
This motel is currently undergoing renovations. There was no chair in our room. The soundproofing between our ceiling and the floor above us was poor, and we were unable to sleep due to the constant walking above us all through the night. Two dogs barked for a short time in the hallway when we were trying to sleep. There were a few plastic cups not encased in any plastic sanitary wrapping, which we found unacceptable. On the plus side, the young man who checked us in was top-notch. The hot breakfast would have been prepared by an employee and handed directly to us, which would have been fine had it not been for the fact that we were anxious to get out of the motel. We chose Best Western due to having positive experiences in other cities, but we regretted that we passed up other cheaper yet outwardly better-looking motels in the near vicinity. Hopefully, once the motel is renovated, it will be up to the Best Western standards.
This is one of the few hotels that I've stayed at that the desk clerk asks "would you like help with your luggage". You just don't see that anymore. They have great management and staff at this location. They are currently doing a remodel. The new rooms look great!
Stayed here over the weekend, it was one of the few pools that were open in Topeka. My kids really wanted to swim. They offer private pool times, which is nice during COVID. We spent an hour and half in the pool and spa area. It was fantastic. The water was warm and clean. Large pool and spa area. We absolutely loved it! Will stay here again.
Poor quality for a Best Western property. Run-down and dirty inside and lots of dog waste outside. We travel with dogs and were concerned about their health and safety while there. Not what we expected from Best Western.
I went to Topeka for some business visit this my first time stay in this hotel my experience is great here staff was nice and friendly the rooms are very clean and the most important was bed was very comfortable. The price i paid is worth will stay again
I visited Topeka to meet see my family and friends for the weekend. This is my 2nd time at this Best Western. I've stayed at a few other hotel's in town and this is by far my favorite. The staff is outstanding and their #1 goal is to make sure I had a great stay. The Covid breakfast is nice and is a hot grab and go option. I'll be back in a few months!
I almost slept in my vehicle. After a long day of travel, my first trip since COVID started, I was looking forward to a restful night sleep unfortunately, I was unable to sleep because the stench of urine was overwhelming. I won't be back. Close to interstate but not much else
NO ELEVATOR -- rooms smelled ok, but dense cigarette smoke filling hallways and common areas, esp. repulsive as one needed to climb stairs (with broken railings as well). Furniture was in disrepair -- drawers hanging open a hazard walking in dark from bed to bath. One of two rooms a/c was not cooling.
This hotel is practicing Covid procedures. They asked my family at check in if we would like to reserve a 1 hour slot in the pool area. I greatly appreciated this action. My family had a safe and fun time in the pool and spa. The cleanest I have seen in a while. The room was large and the beds were great. I would recommend this hotel for anyone including families who still want to enjoy amenities like the pool and spa.
Had to make an emergency trip into town, because my parents pipes froze and of course to make things worse broke. The manager was so great and the desk people also. They made sure I was able to get rooms next-door to each other and easy access for my parents. The employees even went out of their way to give me an idea about a plumber to get things fixed at the house. Both of the rooms were great, I was a little worried about staying somewhere just because of COVID and my older parents, but once there my nerves were calmed. Oh and not let me forget we were able to bring both dogs. I have to say thank you thank you. We will definitely be back this summer and try the pool out.
The room was terrible. Carpet had a big ripp in it, bed was not cleaned sheets and blankets were frayed and torn, oily hand print on shower wall, not cleaned. Truly disappointed. Will rethink using Best Western in the future. Do not understand the high rating here ??
Not easy to find a pet friendly hotel without ridiculous fees. The room was clean, I'm sure the pet friendly rooms look different than standard. My dog enjoyed her stay. The internet was real fast. Easy access to car. Overall not bad.
The hotel staff is friendly but this hotel is filthy. Not reassuring during a pandemic. If they aren't cleaning the visible filth, are they cleaning the non visible? It is a good location and could be a great place.
Sally I believe she is the manager was very welcoming to my family. She has a great personality and ensured that my family had a good stay for 2 nights. I appreciate the hospitality above all else. Everything with the room was just fine.
Was placed here by work for a few days. very jolly people working here. Pleasant clean smell in room. Very quiet at night, had good sleep. Price was within my limits with work and had some great delivery of meals here.
Passed through while spending a bit of time in Kansas City, and had a good experience. Rooms were clean, service was helpful and quick in response. Grab and go breakfast was adequate considering these covid times. Would recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive stopover.
This hotel is one step above a Motel 6. The rooms need full renovation. The staff was very friendly but I would never stay at this hotel again. There were no amenities purportedly due to COVID but I have stayed at many hotels during COVID and had amenities.
1st room had no hot water, a very loud bathroom fan, torn curtains 2nd room had a tv with a nonworking guide and lines through the screen, a rusty lamp with hair on it, torn curtains as well. price online did not match in person price, no manager available on a saturday night (seems like a good time to have a manager around) even the vending machine was broken was told i could not rent a room on the 2nd floor b/c housekeeping did not have an elevator, then had someone very loud above me? this should have a new owner who can properly maintain and manage the hotel. not worth it, keep driving....oh and scratchy sheets with tiny pillows (like a couch pillow)
This place certainly gives BW a bad name. Upon check in, we were assigned one a room on 2nd floor. After returning to the lobby after grabbing luggage, we were redirected to a similar room on 1st floor. Not sure why. Upon entering the 2 Queen suite there was garbage on the floor throughout the room. Chewed gum, Fruit snacks, juice boxes, wrappers, cooked food left in microwave, used Kleenex on floor. We brought the items to the front desk and they claimed a new cleaning staff must have forgotten the items and stated they did not verify the cleanliness of the room. After further look about the room before settling in, the coat rack was hanging by one nail and dislodged from the wall, the bedding was wrinkled and appeared to have been laid on. My kids Opened the blinds and there was a used condom in the window sill and condom wrappers on the ground outside the window. It looked as tho people had been using this room for personal use and entering through the window as this room was the only one with trash outside the window. Again we made mention to the hotel front desk manager, she didn't seem surprised nor offered anything to make it right. She stated if your not happy go find a new hotel. Really? That is how your treat your guests? I am shocked and disgusted by this property. Not surprised by the Guests submitting reviews of similar disgust and bed bugs this place ought to be shut down.
Great Price. While so many of the hotels are offering "grab and go" bags that consist of a nutri-grain bar, apple and water; this hotel had a hot breakfast burrito, muffin, apple and coffee! Ideally located.
These issues were not addressed because there was front desk staff at check out. This was supposed to be a small get away for my boyfriend and I, booked the Whirlpool Suite for over 100 dollars a night, and after leaving I felt cheated and had minor physical injury. A cheap motel room would have been better than the room I was given. When I arrived at 6pm on the 13th everything was great other than a delay in check in due to the front rest clerk having to answer a call, and when a coworker pulled him aside to do something for her in. That was forgivable, but what is not is the state of the room. Upon entering I noticed a bit of mess. Some spots on the mirror, leftover food in the fridge, candy on the floor, spots on the toilet. I cleaned it up with some alcohol wipes I had packed because I was expecting my boyfriend to arrive at any time. On the first night we noticed that the heater did not work. We left it on all night to see if it would heat up over time and it was freezing because it was just pulling in air from outside. It was warmer without the heater on. The night was less than peaceful even if I put the heater issue aside. There was a loud dog barking and people talking, yelling outside of the room, the side buildings side door opening and closing, loud slams that came from above us, and someone's tail lights shining right against our window all night. The second day was worse, we found a large broken piece of a hollow cylinder shape piece of glass, which looked like some type of broken pipe. We picked that up and threw it away, and still tried to enjoy our weekend. But early the on check out day I tried out the amenity of the room, the large whirlpool tub. The bath was great, but upon exiting the tub my partner noticed a couple of small cuts that were fresh and bleeding a little. Nothing more than a scratch. It could have been glass, or the rough tile that surrounded the tub when I was trying to get over the 2 foot ledge that didnt have a step to help safely get in and out. During the morning of check out we had a housekeeper try to enter the room 3 times starting at 9, when check out wasn't until 11 am. At this point my partner and I were over it, we left the room cleaner than I found it, and planned to talk to the front desk clerk about the issues with the stay so they could try to fix the heat at least for the next person coming. We waited 5 minutes at the front desk after ringing the bell but no clerk came and left disappointed
Stayed at the Best Western for Friday night it was really great clerk on duty gave us a few ideas of what we could do on a Friday night which was really awesome. The sack breakfast they had was good especially since I'm not really a morning person for food everybody seemed really really nice and accommodating. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was very clean would definitely stay there again
Chose this hotel for a few nights stay for a job in town. The staff was pleasant everyday, very welcoming and ensured I felt comfortable. Very quiet location, the price was very reasonable. Very secure parking lot with great lighting, important for a work truck.
We've stayed in many Best Westerns, because experience told us that BW maintains standards that ensure a good experience. This place shattered that perception. The room was less than clean, even by pre-COVID standards. The armchair in the room had a broken leg, and was propped against the wall, to make it look OK. And the grab & go breakfast had nothing nutritious, only sugary snack items. Overall, a poor experience. Avoid this hotel!
We stayed one night at the Best Western in Topeka Kansas. We were in room 122, which was a biggish room with a king bed, TV, A/C, small fridge with a freezer compartment, microwave, a table and chair, and one comfy chair, but no safe. The bathroom had a tub and shower, but the sink was outside the bathroom. There was one luggage cart in the lobby. I needed to print out something, so I tried to use the computer in the business center. I couldn't get it to work, so the desk clerk came over and he tried hard, but couldn't get it to work either. The breakfast was a grab and go bag. We would stay here again.
If you think COVI9-19 is a hoax, definitely stay here. This BW franchise (they are independently owned and operated) alleges they follow covid-19 protocols but their housekeeping staff, their front desk staff, and their owner/manager do not wear masks. Yes they have them nearby but you can tell it's for show because they don't even know how to wear them properly. (hanging under nose or in pocket). I had to ask the housekeeping person to put it on when he was talking to me and trying to walk by me in the narrow hallway. Property wise at least the room I was in had run down beat up furniture and bathtub nozzle leaks continuously. The manager/owner is rude and uses inappropriate language. She instructed the housekeeping staff NOT to let me use the luggage carrier so I could exit hotel quickly. Seriously, he was halfway down the hall and she called him back. Bottom line during covid-19 times avoid this place like the plague unless you want to potentially expose yourself to unsafe practices or you don't worry about covid. If that's the case you won't mind this place one bit. Not one of the 5 staff I saw followed protocol and they have been reported to county health department. When I told the manager she said "F-off. I don't care." (for real, it is on my phone). I only write negative reviews when more than 3 things are wrong. This one blew that out of the water. I am a loyal BW customer but once in a while there is a bad match.
Decided to stop here for the night after a long day's drive. This place is just off the highway which is really convenient. The counter staff was friendly and the room was clean. These days with Covid-19 I feel like they went the extra mile with cleanliness. Would stop here again if passing through.
Furniture and carpets stained in lobby. TV in main lobby was set on high volume couldnt have a clear conversation with the person at check in. Glass in door to stair well broken. Stair well had a overwhelming smell of smoke and urine. Curtains shredded and windows had greasy hand prints. It 8s clear that this hotel needs to update and maintain its property. The little to no cleaning just makes it that more nasty.
I am loyal to BW. Mostly due to ease in finding properties where I need them. We do travel with a pet from time to time and Bw is usually very accommodating. Lately it seems Best Westerns are losing their edge. It may be time to take my business elsewhere. I don't need the Taj Mahal but this hotel is seriously in need of a make over. Outdated furniture is one thing....this is unacceptable. The furniture was falling apart, the carpet was torn, the curtains were ripped to shreds, the paint coming off walls, bath tub is worn and gross. When the bedspread was pulled back, it looked like it had already be slept in. And then there was the cleaning issue. The room looked like it had not been dusted for months. To top it all off, just after final falling asleep the person in the room above us must have checked in. I truly thought the ceiling would crash in. Heavy walker, maybe but we could clearly hear the next door neighbors personal conversations. Paper thin walls. Had we not have been driving way to long today and able to drive on, we would have left. Very disappointed!!!
Coming to this hotel for the 1st time tonight and as I walked through the door, was already impressed. It was clean and smelled clean through the entire hotel. My room was extremely clean and cozy. You can tell that the staff and people who run this hotel care a lot about their standards for the community. The woman at the front dest was very kind and helpful. There were no touch hand sanitizer stations placed appropriately for public use. I have been to about 6 different hotels in Topeka and have to say that for the price I paid, I am super satisfied. Because they are so on top of their cleaning, they are able to have the pool and other commodities open to the customers and THAT I really appreciate because many hotels do not offer them and also do not offer any type of discount for the lack of. So to whoever runs this Hotel, thank you for creating a very safe and sanitized place to lay my head for the night. Myself and I'm sure many others appreciate that. 100%
Kind of old but still in pretty good shape. Pool area was fairly nice but, again, a bit aged and worn. Downside is the pool is too cold to get in and hot tub was only room temperature (in their defense they told me at the front desk about the hot tub ahead of time). Location is on busy roadway and has no eatery nearby. The convenience stores on either side offer only a poor choice of snacks. Our room was good, with all expected amenities. Toby at front desk was great, a real asset - the morning guy . . . not so much.
No complaints. Suite for my family was nice and large. Has a pull out couch in it, little uncomfortable but kids didn't mind too much. Can sleep up to 6. Price was good. Little older property, but well kept and clean.
Had to get out of the house and visit some friends. They recommended this hotel as it was nearby and reasonably priced. I had no issues with my stay, the staff were very accomodating and I used the pool and spa.
Had to find a hotel for the night as I was getting my floors re-done. This had what I needed for the night. The price was a little much, but it was clean and was able to swim. I'll stay here if I ever need to get more work done on the house.
Clean, adequate, there was no breakfast at 8:30a, was posted till 9a. Bed was so-so. Lots of pillows. Hall & room smelled like weed, Thank goodness the fan/a/c worked nicely. Simple location, may be a tad overpriced. Food is 1.4 miles. Felt safe and clean.
Standard hotel amenities plus pool and spa. Nice decor in lobby, great safety measures, very accomodating staff. Room smelled and appeared to be very clean. Very easy in and out from car. AC blew really cool air.
I don't often like traveling right now, but this Best Western in Topeka had good safety mesures and cleanliness in place. The room was a bit wethered, but it was clean. The staff was exceptional, breakfast was ok, but good for the current conditions.
The photos here speak for themselves. This hotel is dreadful. We are traveling cross country right now and this is our third Best Western. The other two were incredibly clean. This is a nightmare. COVID scare. I cannot say enough. Zoom in.....
A good stay. During this time I'm looking for smaller indoor hotel's and this one fit the bill. Nothing glamorous, just a good clean room is what I was looking for. There is a breakfast to-go which I liked. Looks like they are taking the right cleanliness precautions.
Done an early check in and woman at counter said it would be ok. Room was nasty, smoke alarm missing,. Turned on in bathroom and it sounded like the ceiling was coming down on us. Staff was overly rude! Then wanted to charge my wife and I DOUBLE for only staying a few hours.
After a long day of driving, I decided to stay in Topeka for the night. I like the eateries and the people in Topeka. This location is staffed by very pleasant and accomodating employees. I enjoyed my night here and was welcomed from the beginning. I will stay here again.
This is a nice cozy hotel. Very comfortable feeling. I was satisfied with how clean the room was and how quiet the stay was. Could use a few upgrades in the room, but for what I was looking for I liked it.
My husband called around the area to find a motel that offered a recliner in a room as I had a recent injury and could not sleep in a bed. When calling this motel, he was advised that all of the handicap rooms had a recliner in them. My husband then attempted to reserve a room for the 3 nights I needed it. The person quoted a price higher than what was offered on the internet and he advised her of this. She said he had to reserve the room online to obtain the pricing. Making a customer to go through the inconvenience of that instead of honoring what he was looking at online while on the phone with the front desk seems insane. He did so anyway. When arriving, the front door entry was locked and no one could be observed at the front desk. While trying to figure out how to enter after a few minutes, the front desk person came to open the door for us while she was on her cell phone We went to check in and she stated she remembered talking to my husband about the recliner need. She gave me my room key and I went to the my room. Upon entering, I observed there was no recliner, my real only requirement. My husband went to the front desk to notify Sally of the issue. No one was there. He rang the bell on the counter a number of times to no avail. He even called the hotel number twice with no answer. This lasted for ten minutes. He came back to the room to advise me as we were going to leave to find another motel. He returned to the front desk to attempt to find someone and again rang the bell on the counter. After a few more minutes, Sally came out of the back room, again on her cell phone. She was advised there was no recliner in the room . She acted like she knew that and stated when the maintenance person arrived he would bring one to the room. In about an hour, the maintenance person and Sally did bring one and it was satisfactory. I requested them to leave the sitting chair that was there in case I needed it during the night. Sally said it had to go for another room. I asked if the motel was that full? She said we are not but it has to go to another room. Seeing that I was upset and injured, she reluctantly agreed it could stay for now. I got settled in and after thinking about her strained response, I put the chair in the hallway so as to not cause a problem. I stayed for 4 nights. There was minimal maid service during this time, even after leaving a daily tip. One of the nights, I ran out of toilet paper as no extra had been left and I had to call the front desk. I couldn't even make coffee one day as there had been no cups left for me to use. On the third day, I advised Sally I needed to stay an additional night. It wasn't until after receiving my bill online that I realized I had been charged an extra $10 for that night than was advertised online. I will say it was quiet during my stay. The temperature of the room was comfortable. The lobby was clean. The vending machine was not stocked. Outside of my room, there were numerous empty beer cans and trash. All in all, I would rate this motel as a 2 star. Very disappointing as I have been a member of Best Western for almost 30 years.
No issues at all. In town for a funeral, this was recommended by the funeral home. Close to where I needed to be. Room was good and met my needs. Had a pretty good stay, the room could use a little bit of an update, but was very clean.
First time staying in Topeka. This hotel is located off the interstate. The exterior is well lit and the lobby is well decorated. The bed was firm, just the way I like it. I got up early and was given a breakfast bag. Good for a night stay.
Overall, the stay at this Best Western was just...OK. But with BW, I expect better than average. For starters, light bulbs flickered, power outlets on desk light fixtures were broken and whatever you do, get any other room than 106 when it rains! The downspout was crazy loud until 2am. Lastly, I realize that hot breakfast is shut down due to COVID-19 but a little bottle of water, a cheap granola bar and a bruised apple.
Room was lovely. Only went to my work and back to the room. Room is large, didn't feel claustrophobic at all. Good tv programming. Bed was soft, yet firm. sheets and towels were soft. Experience no problems during stay.
I stayed here last July and was visiting friends for the weekend. The hotel has done some improvements. The manager Sally was very helpful and recognized me for being a BW rewards member. It is a very quiet and comfortable hotel. Still could use more updates, but I see the improvements from my last visit.
First off, the room was not clean and still had trash in it from the time before. There was an open beer can that was next to our bed, and trash behind the tv stand. We planned for a girls night for a birthday get away, but while sitting on the bed a big bug came crawling next to my friends leg. Upon speaking with the front desk gentleman, Jordan, he was nothing but rude, hateful, and didn't care about it what so ever. He then proceeded to make us feel as though we were lying to him and when I expressed my frustration, instead of handling it he walked away. POOR MANAGEMENT! After getting beyond frustrated he then said that he will not answer to me due to "not being a guest" which in-fact I was. Just because my name wasn't the one on the reservation DOES NOT MEAN I am not a guest. He then told me that we needed to leave because we were no longer welcomed. They then proceeded to call our room over, an over, and over again. The last one being the General Manager, to which she was no help what so ever. She was also rude, an when I asked for a refund she told me she wasn't gonna do that. The only positive thing that I can say is for the gentleman by the name of Ben, who was working the night shift, was extremely nice and was the only understanding one. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. My advise for the hotel is to get pest control out! Also, I have pictures of everything but even when showing him, he didn't believe me. SO UNBELIEVABLY RUDE!!!!!!!
Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Jordyn, Sally, and I think Carla. They were very helpful. Exceptionally clean rooms (the most important thing to me). Breakfast had a good selection. Had a great stay.
Bed bug found in room, general manager brushed off problem. Did not give us the reduced rate she told us we would receive. Blamed us! Contacted same general manager again once we arrived home, she was again rude and uncooperative. Our room was dirty with trash (french fries, razor cover, food container lid). Tub/shower handle leaking so no water pressure. Refrigerator not turned on when we got to room. From rude manager to scratchy towels, we will NEVER stay again at The BW in Topeka, KS.
I very much enjoyed my stay here. The staff are so nice and pleasant. They asked me at least a few times if there was anything they can do to make my stay better. The facilities are nice and clean. The breakfast was very good.
We stayed here one night with our dog. The room appeared recently renovated and was clean and very quiet. The hotel is located just off of I-70 with easy on/off access. There is a good selection of restaurants about 2 miles from the hotel.
Very Nice Best Western. Very clean hotel. I had a nice stay at a nice price. Didn't get to use the pool, maybe next time. Lot of bang for your buck at this place. Better alternative to economy hotels for just a little more.
Great access to hwy. Great service in the pool and hot tub area. Breakfast is great and have a variety to pick from. Very clean and neat and beds are very comfortable. Great stay for business or pleasure.
Exceptionally clean, super comfortable, great breakfast, and fast WIFI. Those are the most important items I look for in a hotel stay. This hotel did not let me down. It's away from the heavy traffic on Wannamaker. Thank you for a great stay!
We were referred to here by another hotel, because they had a maintenance issue at the property. They covered the cost to stay here. We have never stayed at a Best Western before and this will not be our last. This is a very clean hotel, the staff was wonderful and showed us great service. The breakfast was nice. This will be our new hotel when we stay in Topeka.
I didn't make a reservation using the Best Western app because it was 1am when I needed to find a hotel since my truck broke down. I did find the hotel and got a price from the app and went there. Talked to the desk clerk and said I wanted to stay 3 nights. Showed her the rate of $76 on the app and was told she couldn't do that, but she could do a few dollars more. Then she proceeded to give me a price of $975 for my 3 night stay. I told her her math wasn't right 3 times 80 was only $240 and she insisted she was right, it was $975. I showed her my calculator and she still wanted to charge me $320 saying I had to pay 4 four nights even though it was after 1. I am a diamond member at this chain and 3 others and I am not going to argue with someone that can't even do simple math. I left and went somewhere else that wanted my business.
I've been coming through Topeka a few times a year for work. This time my usual hotel was not available, so I decided to try Best Western. It was a very good stay. The breakfast attendant made me feel like I was in a restaurant, it was great service.
Stayed for one night on Saturday Jan 4th due to a swim meet that we were in Topeka. Used my free night stay and didn't have a issue with anything. Had a nice breakfast for a smaller a hotel and the lobby was really nice.
There are a handful of good choices in Topeka. This is by far the best. My wife and I stayed here as loyalty members. The value for price was great. Clean room. Soft beds. Great breakfast. We had a very good stay.
Not everyday do you have staff members so insistent on helping you take your luggage to your room. The staff went out of their way to help my family after a long day on the road. The room was spacious and just what we needed. The heated pool was great for the children. We will make this our only Topeka hotel for the future.
My wife and I were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. Everyone was so pleasant and made sure we were very comfortable. The room was spotless and the heater was set at a comfortable temperature when we entered the room. We highly recommend.
Bed Bugzz!!! Hotel was not bad. Friendly stuff I'm the evening shift, and very rude and unpleasant manager. When we told her about bugs, she denied, saying we had inspection last week. Not even apologised.
Had to stay at a hotel for the holidays, because the parents were remodeling their house. This was recommended by other family. It was very good for my extended stay visit. I had no issues and the staff was very nice.
Stay was good, super friendly front desk, almost too chatty. Very nice breakfast and super clean hotel. The room was a little aged, so could use an upgrade. Price was great and I know that we will be back.
When booking directly with the hotel I couldn't be offered the Best Western discount so I called the Best Western 1-800 number and was given the discount. It is worth checking both options. There is no elevator at this Inn so it is important to ask for a first floor room if doing stairs is going to be a problem. The room we were given was clean and comfortable and we were able to get a good night's sleep which is our priority. It is time, however, for the carpet to be changed in guest room we stayed in. Everything was in good working order. Breakfast was adequate.
Great stay. Clean, seriously clean. Free WIFI and really comfortable beds. Great value. The breakfast was the best I have had at a hotel with free breakfast in a long time! Will stay here again. We love that our pets, 2 smaller dogs, were welcome here!
So, this hotel doesn't have an elevator as another reviewer mentioned, but it's not a big deal. It's only 2 stories. The rooms are HUGE, great in room amenities and also nice indoor pool. Kids loved the swimming, its heated which is a good thing. Breakfast was very well presented. Staff were excellent.
This location does not have an elevator, so if you have difficulty with stairs, be sure to book a ground floor room. Room was clean, beds were OK. The location was good for the activities we were attending and close to restaurants and shopping.
NICE hotel but just be aware they have no elevator..when i made my reservation i put down that my husband uses a cane but when we arrived the gentleman behind the desk wanted to put us upstairs ..i said i put down my husband uses a cane on bestwestern.com when i reserved and he said they do not get the notes..REALLY! after threatening a bad review he begrudgingly gave us a downstairs room..this was not how i like to start out on a vacation..I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a hotel employee in my life..so sad..
Very good stay for my first time at a Best Western. The price was very reasonable and the amenities were exceptionally nice. My children had fun in the large indoor swimming pool, which was heated thank goodness. The breakfast had a nice selection. Didn't really interact much with the staff, but they were nice at check in and out.
The hotel is conveniently located near offices etc, varieties of rooms are available. The room I booked was with Whirlpool, which was very nice to relax after days work and cold weather. The giy at Front desk was very helpful.
Our room was not up to my expectations of a Best Western experience. At most this room's decor (Tub appearance, carpet, etc) was at best a sub-standard Motel 6. I don't know about the other rooms. However, the employees were exceptionally friendly and except for one, very helpful. Don't know if we would stay here again at the price we paid unless some room remodeling were done.
Room was very large. I got an upgraded for being a Diamond Best Western Rewards member. The suites are very nice and have 2 Tv's. Had no issues at all with my stay. Everyone was very nice and helpful, there is nothing like a smile when you are greeted when you are arriving and leaving. They have great customer service skills.
Very nice hotel with large rooms and a good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Excellent location right off the interstate. There is no elevator and this was the only drawback, so if this is a problem for you, make sure you are guaranteed a room on the ground floor.
Was good enough for overnight stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bath towels were a bit dingy, small and thin. Not what you usually find in BW hotels. Pillows were lumpy, couldn't find one that wasn't.
Service is the most important factor when staying at a hotel. This Best Western lived up to the greatest service. They are so hospitable, from the housekeeper's to the front desk to the breakfast attendant. I truly enjoyed my stay here. By the way the room was clean and so was the rest of the property. I'll be back
I've stayed at BW's since I started traveling for work (15 years) and this was the worst stay I've ever had. Had room rented for 3 days of course printer didn't work so no paper to look at for exact dates. But I just had bad surgery so needed a handicap room first night was great no problems. Left next day leaving my bag and toiletries in room. Got back late that night and found my card key wouldn't work went to front desk to find out I was checked out and all handicap rooms were rented. Had no choice but to take only options available which was a twin upstairs with no elevator. Got up there and keys wouldn't work, so limped back downstairs to be told oh just pull the door handle up you don't need a key to get into any room. Don't stay here if you're going to leave any of your valuables in the room. Anyone can get into your room. Needless to say I won't be staying here ever again
Being the only Best Western in Topeka, this was an easy choice being a Rewards member. The room was very spacious, the room felt clean and the Best Western Breakfast was very well done. This is a solid choice when visiting Topeka and being a rewards member makes it an even easier choice.
The entire experience was terrible 1. Checked in and the lights wouldn't worked. Figured out they were not plugged in. So I had to move furniture and beds to find the outlets 2. TV remote didnt work 3. And this is bad. Apparently they wanted to clean carpets in all of the rooms on my floor AT NIGHT. NOT VACUUM BUT CARPET CLEANING WITH A LOUD PROFESSIONAL MACHINE which sounded like a generator. This was occurring at 7pm when I got back to my room until I finally complained at &:30pm. They did move me to a different floor. But they knew when they checked me in and assigned me to that floor that they scheduled the cleaning. When I went to complain they said “oh we were wondering if someone was on that floor” huh. Are you freaking kidding me.
We stayed here in May. We arrived at 6:30 and check in was quick and easy. Jordan was the desk clerk who checked us in. Our room (#216) was clean and spacious, with comfortable beds, plenty of electrical outlets and a fridge and microwave. The parking was free and plentiful. Because we are Platinum members, we were upgraded to a suite and paid $111 for the night. The air conditioner was quiet, the room faced the back of the property so there was no traffic noise and the rooms have interior entries. The hotel is easy to get to from the highway but isn't too close to many restaurants that we could see. We didn't eat the free breakfast but the choices were: scrambled eggs and sausage. The only negative things about the hotel/room: no elevator, the wifi was slow and the toilet seat was loose. Check out was as quick and easy as check in. We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.
Always love Best Western.... the hot breakfast is wonderful when traveling and always pretty standard fare but this location did not have the biscuits and gravy (something I always look forward to). Our room was nice and sofa bed was used (slept pretty good -- but, wouldn't do it again). Staff very pleasant.
This hotel is very clean and the staff was very friendly. Would recommend staying here for the price. Great value, and I would stop again. The breakfast had hot and cold items on it. It was very good.
We were taking our daughter from our home in Virginia out to Utah for her freshman year in college. After a long day of driving across the Appalachians, then another day driving across the plains, we were very happy to reach Topeka. Be sure to go one more exit west to find anywhere to eat, we had to eat pizza from a gas station.
My room was only serviced twice in 7 days. Of the three of us that stayed here, each of our bills were different by up to $300 for the same room. Front desk staff wasn't helpful in remedying the billing issue for my co-workers.
So we stayed overnight to move our daughter into college. We had a mix of feelings about the hotel. The staff seemed nice ( outside of check in and out didnt really interact with them). The pool and spa were pretty good size for indoor and a basic hotel. The room was pretty big as Well as the bathroom. And it was clean as well. The problems though we big. Was some of the worst beds I have ever slept in, and the breakfast was also one of the worst. They has some white discs which i assumed were just egg whites but the looked like melting foam, the toaster only warmed one side of the bread and it wasnt toasted, and the juice was just bad.
Good location, Clean and large room, Comfortable bed, Great Pool and Spa. This is a very cozy hotel that was very affordable for the weekend. The staff is pleasant and the Hot Breakfast was great. I would highly recommend!
We stayed here for several nights with our family while attending a conference in town. The location was convenient next to the interstate, but at least a 5- to 10-minute drive to most attractions and restaurant options - not really anything within walking distance. The breakfast selection was good, with waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins and pastries, toast, juice, coffee/tea, and fruit. The pool/hot tub was excellent, probably the highlight of our trip. The indoor pool was clean and a very comfortable warm temperature, possibly one of the best pool experiences of any hotel we have stayed at with our family. The refrigerator in our room didn't work when we arrived, but the staff was very friendly and helped bring in a new one quickly. We had a good experience at the hotel - even through it wasn't the highest quality of places we have ever stayed at, it was more than adequate for our needs and our budget for this trip.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this location. We have stayed in a few Best Western's in the past, but this one was by far the best. The staff was outstanding and always greeted us with a smile. Breakfast was plentiful. They don't have elevator, but the staff helped with our luggage without us even asking.
Wonderful staff. Bed matters or foams need to be changed. Not like the other Best Western but they try. Dinning area small. Parking area small. Great location for Sun flower Games. No elevators had to carry up stairs. After a long trip not so great to do.
This was my first time in Topeka, but it won't be my last. This hotel held our family reunion and they went above and beyond! They asked my family what time we all would like breakfast so that they could make sure we could all sit together and that if we had any special requests. Our reunion has never stayed at a hotel where they have treated us so well. Everything was great and we had a great time in the pool. The next time we come to Topeka we will be staying here.
I have stayed at this Best Western a handful of times this year for work. This visit was no different than the others. The hotel is very comfortable and clean, the staff are very nice and remember me by name (which is pretty special). I always enjoy my stay here and will return as long as my work keeps sending me to Topeka.
My friends and I stayed here for the Country Stampede. The price was better than the other hotels and the reviews were good. The manager Sally was very nice and helped us with anything we needed. The pool was great, this hotel is a no brainer for when we come back.
Dirty room, no towel or housekeeping service until 3rd day. Had to go get our own towels daily. Front office made no effort to correct or compensate the problem. Will not return to this location or recommend. Oh, and we were asked if we really needed a handicap room after we made reservations 45 days in advance. We are disabled...really?!
We were pasting through Kansas to go visit our son in Ft Sill for his graduation and checked in at 11pm. We checked out the next morning at 10am. The building manager, Sally confronted us and charged us an additional $40.00 for having our kids with us and an additional night stay. We booked through hotwire to stay at Best Western so there is no reason to get double charge from best western. It was confirmed that Best Western received their money from the third party, Hotwire. However, Sally refused to refund the money back to me. I contacted the hotel and spoke to Sally again in 2 weeks. She said, "I'm not giving you your money you F***** B****. " I told her I was going to call the cooperate office and she said, "Go ahead you B****. I don't care" I asked for her name but it took her awhile to say her name was Mary. Lol. She had to lie about her name after calling me a B****. I spoke to her before and it was SALLY. I am so upset at Best western and especially at the hotel manager. Best Western need to fire Sally. I did call the cooperate office and filed a dispute. I hope she gets fire. She is unprofesionally and rude. I will never stay at Best Western again. I'm still waiting for my refund. STAY AWAY FROM SALLY, THE HOTEL MANAGER
This hotel is off the interstate and easy to find. There aren't any restaurants in walking distance but if you have a car it's not too far to find places. Check-in was efficient, and they asked if a second floor room was ok since no elevator. My room was standard BW - just the basics, nothing fancy. It was clean and quiet. The TV was on the small side but pulled in lots of channels. Breakfast was also standard BW - the bread seemed stale so I had some cereal. Eggs and bacon were available but to me didn't seem appetizing. However, the room rate at the BW website was low, so overall it was a great value for price paid. I would stay here again.
This is my favorite motel to stay in when we travel back to see my son. Always comfortable, great staff, good food and good coffee. We slept very well. Beds are comfortable. Rooms reasonably quiet except for the early morning risers.
I stopped here a week ago. Jordin was so kind and helpful. He insisted on bringing my luggage in for me. He could not do enough to make me comfortable. Sleep was peaceful in a cozy clean environment. Returning home, there was no doubt where I would stay. Sally recognized me and again, the kindness was beyond belief. The hot tub and pool are just what the doctor ordered for my tired, tense bones after driving. Samantha, actually designed a temporary tip for my cane so I could safely go to the store to get a replacement for the one I'd lost. Service above and beyond. That's something you don't get these days. This is why I will always stay here when in Topeka.
I was very satisfied with this hotel for the purpose of my trip. I'm glad I was alone...there was no elevator...not a problem since my mom wasn't with me. Room was spacious enough for me. There was no odors or stains. Heat/air worked fine. Breakfast had options. Pool/spa were very nice.
Clean and spacious rooms. The breakfast was by far the best we had on our cross country trip. The breakfast area looks new and there was a large selection of items. Our stay was very good and the location was very convenient off the interstate.
Nice, comfortable and clean the only complaint would be the temp of the pool and hot tub. Both were a little cool. Otherwise nice hotel with a convenient location. The reused key packets were a little weird.
I had stayed at this BW once before and I noticed they had done a complete remodel of the lobby and breakfast area. They do not have an elevator, which was ok for my husband and I as we don't mind steps. The pool and hot tub were great. The staff was very nice and even brought fresh towels up to the room when we requested.
The rooms are run down! My room had holes in the carpet and the remote to the TV did not work. The wifi was terrible, I ended up using my cell phone data to get on the internet. The hot tub had cold water in it.The room is way over priced for what it is. I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Front desk clerk was rude to my daughter and her friends. We rented a room so her and her friends could celebrate her 17th birthday. I rented the room for her and I to stay in after her friends left.. 3 of her friends came and the clerk told them he had to have their names before they could swim(which is why we picked this hotel) and then told them they couldn't get in the pool because I only told him about 2 people staying. I've never heard of this in the 5 years i worked in a hotel.
This is a nice location right off the highway. The building is large with high ceilings on second floor. The indoor swimming pool is a plus and there is plenty of parking. The rooms are basic and I was expecting better quality in the king suite with proper cleaning of fabrics as they are very spacious. There was no kitchenette or wet bar which would have been nice.
I am usually always a very positive person but this place was terrible. It was ice cold in our room. There was a hotel style air unit beneath the window. It was off when we arrived even though outside temperatures were around 5 degrees. We sat in the room with our coats on for four hours and then went to bed with the room still freezing. The maximum temp on the unit thermostat was 78 and it didn't get tolerable until 4 am. And it clattered loudly all night. We thought a hot shower would help, but the water temp was barely lukewarm and no water pressure at all.The bathroom had a non working heat lamp and the floor and toilet felt like ice. The vanity area had two bulbs missing over the sink. The bed was super hard and there was nowhere near enough covers for it. The towels were tiny and sparce. Someone else's hat was beside the bed which didn't give much confidence in the room cleaning. Do not stay here!
I was just passing through to get back to my truck. The hotel was in good shape just needs a bit of updating and stuff. the staff was very nice and polite and very professional. The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaner than some more expensive hotels I have stayed in.
When we arrived around 11:00 PM, the hostess helped me and was very welcoming and friendly. She let me know that there were no elevators and that I needed to use a side door. When I got to the side door, it worked about 20% of the time that I inserted the card. It was also dark and kinda "shady". I didn't feel safe standing there for more than 2 or 3 minutes. When we arrived in the hotel room it looked good overall but it was dark. There were plenty of outlets which we were excited about. Upon lying down on the bed, both beds (2 queens) were lumpy and the sheets felt like sandpaper. I know this isn't the Four Seasons but I would expect better sheets than what I would get at a Roadway Motel. I was pleased to see that we had extra shampoos and conditioners. After waking up in the morning, we realized that the room wasn't in the best of shape. The outside window seal was popped out which was making the room cold. We decided to go down to breakfast. "Breakfast" was a joke. There was 2 piece of white bread, 3 pieces of wheat bread, some gross wax covered apples that had seen better days and 2 tiny oranges. In the drink department, there were 2 juice boxes and a sad looking coffee bar. We were told that "more food was coming" but it never came. After speaking with what I believe was the owner, Sally, upon checking out. I had used the hotel restroom and there was no soap left. I told her about it and she said, "oh we are remodeling and we don't have time to focus on those things". - shocker. I also told her about the mattresses being lumpy and she stated, "those are brand new beds, there is no way that they were lumpy." Then brushed it off. There is definitely room for improvement at this Best Western location. I purchased this hotel room based on other reviews that I had seen online. Unfortunately I did not receive the same experience and I wish them the best of luck in updating their breakfast bar area and the hotel (which needs it).
great to pull off the road at a BW hotel. The room was clean, well decorated and quiet. There was some noise from the room above us. Next time I would ask for a room on the second floor. But overall an excellent experience. All staff were friendly.
Polite staff. Room was comfortable but could use some minor maintenance attention. Desk clock, desk lamp, and in-room coffee maker did not work. Breakfast options were minimal, but better than nothing. Convenient to interstate. Good water flow in shower.
Suite was large and comfortable. Older property but well maintained. Check in was very friendly. Breakfast could have been a little better for Best Western, but was well managed. Very easy access to the interstate. Would recommend this place.
My wife and I stayed here the other night and were totally pleased. It was the cleanest and best run mid-level motel we have ever stayed at -- and we do driving trips somewhat regularly. The family running it were as helpful, friendly, and competent as you could hope for. Everywhere in and out of our room was immaculate and well-kept. The indoor pool and hot tub were very pleasant. The "included breakfast" was much better than equivalent motels. The staff bent over backward to accommodate our dog (many locations in Topeka don't!) -- and two very weary travelers nearing the end of a 2 plus week trip. We were completely pleased and would highly recommend this motel if you're staying in Topeka. It was just about two minutes off I-70, by the way.
Stayed 1 night while travelling through the state. Staff friendly, lobby clean. Room very nice (stylish & up to date) & clean, nice tv, comfy bed. The mattress is actually covered in a thin vinyl-ish zippered cover, it makes the bed a little warm but not sweaty. Full breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, thick raisin bread & the traditional waffles, yogurts, danishes, cereals, coffees, juices, milk. Would highly recommend this hotel.
While trying to make it back to Florida ahead of the hurricane, we stopped at this Best Western Inn. We had a few minor glitches, which Sally, the General Manager quickly corrected. We love this brand, and will continue to stay with them whenever possible.
Great motel, easy to find Not much close for food choices by easy to get to The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was hot and yummy Lots of good choices. I love that there is a water machine availabe with hot water whenever you want it
For it's class the BW Topeka hotel is a clean hotel with a clean comfortable bed (if you like a harder mattress). If you decide to stay at the BW Topeka hotel hopefully, you will meet Jordan when you check in. Jordan is the most accomadating hotel representative I have met in my 60 years. A true Ambassador for the hotel. My only complaint about the BW Topeka would be the quality of the breakfast food. Honestly however, if you are an experienced traveler you know most hotels have poor quality breakfast offerings.
This property was clean and well maintained. How ever we were but on the second floor and learned that there was no elevator! George, of the front desk was kind to help us with our luggage to the room. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was limited but good.
Very happy with my stay. I had no issues what so ever. The hotel is very nice and comfortable. The staff were super nice and helpful to my husband and I. It's hard to find good service any more, but we found it here. A clean, well kept hotel.
I booked this hotel for a night as I was passing through Topeka on a cross country trip. I was really only going to sleep there, so I didn't need anything fancy, but also wanted somewhere clean & safe. The girl at the reception desk was friendly, but when I went back to let her know that the WiFi wouldn't connect in my room, she said that often happens on that 'side' of the hotel. She didn't really offer another solution. I told her that I would need wifi as I booked & paid for a hotel that offered wifi. I asked her to reset the router, as sometimes hotels need to do that. She suggested I try to get online there in the lobby. It worked there. When I went back to my room I was still online but the Wifi was so slow that I ended up not even using it. The mattress wasn't really comfortable, but the room was clean and sufficient. There's not much nearby- a row of stores, a gas station. There were some less than desirable people hanging out in the parking lot (who I guess were guests as they eventually went inside). I was in a room that had an adjoining door to the next room and the guest in there had their tv on very loudly, so you hear it easily through the walls.
We usually stay at Best Western because we have been long time members. This has now become one of our favorites when traveling thru Kansas. We had one of the best night's of sleep in a long time. The room was very cozy and large. The bed was very comfortable. The front desk was great as the woman(forgot her name) was so nice and brought us extra pillows and towels very quickly after we requested. Fantastic smaller hotel.
After staying at mediocre motels for two weeks, we were particularly pleased with this Best Western. Clean, spacious, well-appointed, a good TV channel lineup, plenty of room for all of our gear (we travel heavy), plenty of outlets, comfortable beds, and even a bar on the premises—this one really provided everything we needed.
Worse hotel we've stayed in, no elevator, room and bedding worn, furnityre drawer pulls falling off, Breakfast apple juice sour, Overall this was a bad experience when compared to other hotels of similar price. Not worthy of the Best Western Brand.
Very pleased with my stay. Sally was very hospitable. Property was conveniently located for our needs. Room was pleasant. Breakfast had many choices and was delicious. My wife and I used the Spa and fitness room. Both were very good. We recommend!
This hotel has some of the nicest people working here. The hospitality my wife and I received was the best we have ever had in Topeka. We travel here a few times a year and this will be the only hotel we stay at in Topeka from here on out. The breakfast was fabulous and the room was very cozy.
Loved this place! We stayed in a spacious suite that was clean, comfortable, and well-laid-out - and at a really good price. Not at all ostentatious, and everything we needed/wanted. Quiet, even! We both loved the pillows, which were not the usual huge, hard motel pillows. The complimentary breakfast and coffee were very good. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, low-key and helpful. We'd definitely stay here again.
Staff here was extremely helpful. They do not have an elevator so if you have physical limitations make sure room is on the first floor. Only ice machine was on the first floor. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and breakfast was good. We did not use the pool or hot tub but area looked nice.
Stayed here on points. This hotel was the only option around Lawrence and it was a great use of our points. The room was clean, HDTV was great, no odor, breakfast was plentiful. My friends and I had a great stay.
The room was good. The hotel was supposedly full for the night and our PTAC/AC was leaking water on the floor. They couldn't meet us. My family rented 3 rooms. My dad was going in EARLY to hospital. The clerk was horrible. The pool was down. He didn't tell us before we checked in, to give us an option to go somewhere else. No sign on the pool, saying it was closed and we could see it as we checked in. And when we found out it was closed, he basically told us, "Well, its after 4 pm, so you would have had to pay for the room anyway!" He didn't only say that to us, which made us mad, but we heard him tell that to another customer, who was furious for that and other reasons, because he said he always stayed at Best Westerns when he traveled. Elevator was down and he got put up on 2nd floor and he had heart issues. He would not give us any price break. The owner, did in the morning. He told us he was going to call the pool guy and he did. He called our room and my sister answered and he told her, that he's here and if we don't believe him, we could come check. Of course we did. And my husband gave the pool guy a nice tip for coming out so late (7:30 ish) and he got it up and going for us. The clerk was floored. My husband told him, it wasn't about the price break, its about service. The owner in the morning, did say he had some "family" issues but it was not a good experience with him there. My family had other issues, but I will not comment on those.
Pros #1 Very Clean Hotel when you walk thru the door. #2 Price is very reasonable #3 Large and comfortable rooms Cons #1 Older hotel and showing age #2 Breakfast room was rather small and congested Would recommend. Suggestion would be to update some areas.
Sally made the trip great! Rooms were great. Food was great, will definitely be coming back. The pool was nice and pool room was at a great temperature. I would highly suggest this hotel to any of my friends visiting the area.
No close-by restaurants. Had to travel about 2 miles to locate any. Front desk was no help in guiding us in the right direction and no information regarding restaurants at hotel. Had to use maps on smart phone to provide suggestions.
The hotel is dated and looks like some renovation has been done. There were tiles missing from the lobby floor and the hot tub was filled with hot water but the jets were not working. We had an issue with the first room they gave us, and they upgraded us to a better, more expensive room. There is no elevator, so be aware of this if you have mobility issues. The room itself was fine, and it had a sink outside the bathroom, which makes it easier for everyone to get ready in the morning. We could hear people walking in the room above us, and the bed was too firm for our taste. But it was clean and provided outlets by the bed for charging devices, something you don't always find in older properties. I can't speak to the breakfast offerings as we chose to eat at a local coffee shop instead. We paid less than $80 for the room, so that fact alone would make me consider staying here again.
A very good option in Topeka. Very good value. It is off the beaten path, which worked out perfectly for me as I like my peace and quiet. The room did show it's age, but was very clean. The breakfast was Hot and a great assortment.
This was our 2nd time staying at this Best Western. It was just as good as we remembered. Sally was wonderful to my wife and I. Comfy bed and pillows. Wonderful breakfast with great options. A very quiet and comfy stay.
Where to start, I booked a room for my family and was given a room with 1 king. The hotel wanted to charge $60 more for a room with 2 queens. The room had a strange smell especially the bathroom. The pool was closed due to issues and we weren't told when checking in. The evening staff was rude. When asking for extra blanket so I could sleep in chair so my wife and daughter could enjoy the bed, I was told they were out. The door to the room didn't shut and lock without me slamming the door shut. Only time I could use Wi-Fi was when I was in the lobby, nowhere else. The room one of my inlaws has, the floor was wet from AC issues. I believe there was mold. And yet the 3 room had Ants all over when they woke up in the morning. If it wasn't for the rooms being booked and paid for we would have left. The place refused to cancel the remaining week, so we could go elsewhere. we were here for a family member being in ICU for heart surgery. None of us will ever go near a BW again
Let me start by saying this hotel is a very good value. The room is dated, but very large and comfortable. The pool was just the right temperature. It is a clean establishment that I had no issues with.
This is the first Best Western that my husband and I have stayed at. The price was good so we decided to give it a try for the night. The room was cozy, we used the hot tub and had a quick bite in the morning. Everything was good!
We checked in our family visiting from out of town and were informed that “Guests not staying at the hotel are not welcome to use the pool, spa, gym or any other facilities unless they are a paying guest.” My family drove 22 hours to see us and we can't even hang out in the pool?!?? Then the night clerk told us that it was corporate policy and if we didn't like it we should go somewhere else. So take our que and don't stay at this Best Western.
I had reserved a room with this hotel because it was "pet friendly" according to hotels.com. However, the hotel only has a single room for pet owners which wreaked of urine. This isn't the normal pet odor, but a strong smell that nearly caused me to vomit. I was forced to stay at another hotel because of the smell although the front desk refused to refund the cost of their room. In effect, I paid for two hotel rooms that evening.
I have stayed at this hotel before but this time it was had to sleep in those worn out beds and the we had to keep the window open because of the chemical smell in the room from the products used I will not stay here again very disappointed.
Andrew was great! The biggest problem was that there was no elevator. Andrew offered to help us with the luggage. His help wasn't needed, but the offer was very much appreciated. The desk chair was broken and in the morning we discovered the coffee maker did not work. We told Andrew about the problems when we checked out. I have no doubt he had the problem taken care of. Of all the standard Best Western motels we used this one was better than some of the Plus Best Westerns.
Hotel is quiet and very comfortable. My husband and I loved how cozy we felt during our stay. The hotel is clean and rooms are large. The breakfast was very lovely and the young lady there was super nice.
This hotel was a great choice by my husband. The staff were super nice and the room was very clean. Kudos to housekeeping. My husband and I used the spa, which was perfect after a long day on the road. :)
Good cozy hotel in Topeka. Has a very nice pool and breakfast. My wife and I were very satisfied with our stay and will return next time we travel through the Midwest. The price was very good compared to other hotels in Topeka.
We did not have any problems with this hotel in Topeka, Kansas. We would stay here again . We were very happy to see that dogs were welcome here even though we did not have our dog with us on this trip.
I like the layout of the parking lot. I feel safe walking to my car because the main entrance is so close. I also like how close the hotel is to the interstate (I-70, exit 357). The hotel is also a quick drive to most area businesses as well.
Great location for us - near the History Museum. Their facilities were well kept and clean. The breakfast was great as well - more than just coffee and donuts. If you can think of eating it for breakfast, they probably had it! Even blueberry waffles!
The staff was helpful and courteous. We got a great night sleep. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel is close to many restaurants and activities. For the price we paid ($80) it was a great value. Pets are welcome and complementary treats are offered at the check in desk for your beloved pet.
Close to where was going to work. Easy access to I-70 highway. Right next to highway. Good check in. Vey friendly and efficient counter staff. Room clean with any thing needed to have a good stay. Towels could have been bigger and fluffier. But not a problem. Breakfast has plenty of variety for anyone to chose from. Staff close by to take away plates and cups when done so do not have to bus anything. Check out was fast and easy topped off with a complimentary gift bag of pop and snacks for the trip.
Love this hotel. Nice and quiet. Let us use the hot-tub after-hours. Clean. Has a fair selection for breakfast. Although the gravy was real watery. This is a place where I would stay again. Helpful staff.
Room was clean and comfortable. Rate was competitive. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average. Much better stay than the Hotels across the street. We will return on next trip to Topeka. We were pleased with our stay.
The hotel is older, but clean and comfortable. With taxes and fees, we paid only $74, making this a good value for a quick night's stay. A very friendly and accommodating night clerk. Since rooms on the first floor were booked, and there isn't an elevator, he carried my bag to our second floor room.
This place needs to be updated. The chair in my room was torn and faded. Walls are very thin. I could here the woman in the next room talking on the phone clearly. It wasn't very clean. The clerk at the front desk refused to give me a receipt and was upset because I had canceled my reservation for the second night. She complained that I had made reservations and cancelled through a third party site. I will not recommend staying here.
This place is tired and needs attention in places. The paneling was coming off the entertainment center and I'm not 100% certain that the sheets had been changed on the bed. I was driving through from ND to TX and was only going to be there four hours so I decided on an inexpensive option. Breakfast was ok, pretty standard. Room was warm, but the bathroom was freezing and the door wouldn't stay open to let it warm up. Water pressure was poor and the water temp in the shower was less than warm.
This hotel is basically clean and well run - but it's construction is of poor quality so sound passes easily between floors. If the neighbors are up late and loud, sleep can be a challenge. The main desk was not staffed when we wished to check out at around 8:30 a.m....which seemed strange to me.
Great pet friendly place to stay over in Topeka. We needed a place to stay between Missouri and Colorado, and BW provided everything we needed at an affordable price. Sally the manager is a doll and I plan to stay there everyone we drove through which will be 4 times a year now. I highly recommend this hotel especially if you have pets. The pet fee is $20 per day per pet and very reasonable. They also have hot breakfast, a pool which we did not use but looked very nice and a fitness center. It is right off the highway so it is an easy stop while traveling the 70.
Hotel was adequate for a quick overnight stay. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating to requests. Location was right of highway which was perfect for our travel needs. Pet friendly was a bonus!!!
It was the oasis we needed traveling all day by car with two kids and two dogs. The indoor pool was perfect for the kids. Beds were so comfy we all overslept! The large rooms were perfect for a family. Breakfast was great and staff very nice.
was there in December of 2017. This hotel was ideally located near freeways and presented itself well in the area. The price was reasonable, rooms were comfortable but furniture thread bare, outside wall had interior water damage and bathroom needed work. Staff were friendly and only glitch was they ran out of parts of it and were not replaced.
This is a standard Best Western that has a lot going for it including a good Topeka location with ample convenient parking. An electric outlet is available for those with plug-in vehicles with your own charge cord. Quiet and comfortable, but cheap plastic toilet seats that slide around should be replaced.
Nice Motel. Appears to be new, filling complimentary Breakfast, Clean with comfortable bed. Good value for the cost, Free WiFi easy on and odd interstate 70. usual amenities friendly service at desk. seem to care
Stayed on a King Suites room with jacuzzi for a night. I would say among the other Best Western Hotel location me and my husband stayed, this is by far, the most cleanest and nicest one. Breakfast is ok, nothing spectacular. Our room is well lit, good size. Outside is clean as well. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi in our room. Very friendly staff as you walk in.
We stayed overnight although we live in the area because we didn't want to drive home late. The motel was clean and quiet; the hot tub and pool were decent, but could use a little upgrading. Only two floors but no elevator. An unexpected surprise was the little goodie bag we were given when we checked out! Not something we've ever gotten from any motel - very nice touch!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Topeka. The hotel is very nice and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. The breakfast had a good amount of assortment and was very tasty. The staff was very nice, especially Sally. We enjoyed our stay.
Driving cross country and stopped here for the night. It was a great choice. Comfortable room and friendly service. Rooms could use a little better lighting but I would definitely recommend this hotel.
This is the dirtiest hotel I have been in for about five years. The pillow had a mascara stain on it and the headboard had greasy head marks. The Internet did not work at all. The exercise room was not equipped very well.
On a road trip to CO, looking for a safe, well lit property. Newly remodeled or a new property, don't know, but it was fine. Firm beds, basic breakfast, there are better priced properties, but this property was consistent with BW.
The room was a usual room. Nothing spectacular. Breakfast on Sunday morning at 7:30 was total confusion. Everyone was ready to eat and there was not enough room for all. Room for 16 people in the area and then another table set up in the lobby. The employees trying to refill food containers were prevented from getting to the food area with guests attempting to get food. i.e.: people wanting to get coffee and it was not brewed or brewing. The set up of the room needs some help( consider moving waffle maker and toaster so not side by side with people standing right waiting for there product). I believe if it had not been Sunday morning, it would work.
Stayed here a year ago and gave it 5 stars. This time only 3. Outside of the room all was well, but the room - an "upgrade" had dirty or stained carpet coming apart at the seams, a sofa with several good size tears and a broken arm, and a microwave that could not be plugged in where it was - had to move it to another table. Water pressure was low and the mix was such that it was quite warm when completely on cold. Sad how it had gone downhill in one year.
Very friendly staff from the minute you walk in. Rooms are very nice and clean will stay here next time in town. The manager said when i booked the rooms for my work crew that we would like her breakfast she was right it was fantastic.
I figured this would be just another ordinary Best Western, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is certainly not a large hotel (only 45 rooms), but it is extremely clean and neat. The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the a/c worked well, and the breakfast was hot and tasty. Nicely done!
We were very disappointed in this best western hotel. We have been staying in best western hotels on our trip and this does not measure up. Strange smell in lobby, chair in our room is worn and had torn areas. The bathroom has only a small sink, no counter to sit your personal toiletries. The drink machine was empty! Even the bed was not near as soft & comfortable as the other best westerns...only one night so we will deal with it, but I am definitely going to change hotels for the trip back home.
Passing through we chose this Best Western. Room was OK with good bed and shower. Large TV with HBO, no in-room safe. It is a little noisy from outside and the corridor. Location is far from downtown together with other chain hotels and fast food restaurants. Rate is good. There are probably better options in Topeka.
Stayed in Topeka to go out and come back from Colorado. Easy on/off the interstate with several restaurants within three miles. Staff are friendly. Breakfast has several choices (a waffle machine!). Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Rooms are somewhat dated. Otherwise good value for the money. Has indoor pool. Good location in relation to getting around Topeka. Parking lot was well lit which es a plus since I used a rental car. Entrance was a little hard to spot.
We were able to make reservations for the same night. The room was clean and the front desk was professional. The drawdown was we were on the second floor and there was no elevator. The breakfast was marginal, eggs were cold and had to wait for coffee.
Friendly, helpful staff upon check in and check out. Comfortable, clean room. Convenient location. NO elevator, so make sure to ask for a first floor room during the reservation process. Internet was average to slow in rate.
We got the Jacuzzi suite (room 131) and the room was fine, until I noticed bugs around the edge of the Jacuzzi. Then during the night when I got up, the bathroom had a cricket, several centipede (or millipede...I didn't count), and several spiders on the bathroom floor. There was also a spider in the Jacuzzi in the morning. Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well that night. The rest of the room was clean. The manager said they have an exterminator every month and only seem to have trouble in that room where it's moist. At checkout she gave us enough BW points to stay a night. The staff was friendly, but the morning manager was having some trouble keeping up with the checkouts and the breakfast room. It feels like an older property that has been recently renovated both inside and out.
This is a preferred stop for us when driving our son to college in CO. Easy access from I-70. Clean and very comfortable room at good price. Indoor pool was refreshing break from the road. Breakfast is average but satisfactory.
Bad beds, horrible pillows, old decor, holes in wall, no elevator, bad breakfast. Nice staff. Expensive for the age of the property. The business next door was sawing at 7:00 am. Very surprised at the condition of the hotel as we are usually very satisfied with Best Western. Will not stay here again. Does accept dogs for reasonable price.
Staff was nice room was clean and it was a beautiful property. I really like that they had the Grab & Go for breakfast so on my second day I could grab something to eat and not wait and go. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay there.
Very disappointed with room. Reserved a suite but they were on the second floor without an elevator. Couldn't drag everything up there. After going to 2 or 3 different rooms ended up in a 2 queen room. Not what I wanted and no adjustment was made to bill even after questioning. Would never stay there again. All other Best Westerns we stayed at on the road were very nice. This one was very tired.
Staff too busy to help. Breakfast not kept stocked. Rooms smell. Beds comfortable. NO ELEVATOR. tv and remote didnt work. Couldnt get lights to shut off. NO ELEVATOR. Nice lit parking lot. Easy to find. Cost a lot for value of stay
Dirty carpet, old worn out building, creaky doors, small cramped breakfast area, roaches in room. The view on one side is a fence about 6' away. The jacuzzi was not working and in the most odd place along with the pool.
We have stayed here several times before and are always pleased with the accommodations. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The only thing that I feel they could improve on would be the breakfast area. It is rather small for such a busy hotel so it is always a challenge to find a seat and get your food. They also tend to stop refilling the items at it approaches time for the breakfast to end. I know they don't want to waste money but when you are completely out of eggs and sausage 15 minutes before the room closes, and there are 20 people in there wanting to eat, you need to bite the bullet and put more food out. That is just part of the price of doing business.
This is a nice hotel for the price. The rooms are clean. The pool is a nice temperature, and the water was clear. The beds were pretty comfortable. My kids enjoyed the breakfast-waffles with Ready Whip and Apple Cinnamon topping. My dog was welcome. Gas station right next door.
Nice, clean, great bed & shower! We were in a quiet location, thankful. There was not an elevator, no problem for us we are very active. Would have been nice to have an adult beverage area for evening cocktails and appetizers.
While this location is still finishing some renovation, it really is a very nice presentation of facilities and services. It is just far enough from the Expressway to be quiet. Street noises are minimum. Just FYI, they do not yet have an elevator, if you need that. But it has been nicely renovated. A bit smaller than other BW's we have visited, but only one so close to hwy in Topeka.
This particular BW was a huge disappointment to my wife and me; there is no elevator, thus you cannot use the hotel carts to help ferry luggage to 2nd floor; room smelled of cheap bathroom floor cleaner mixed with cooking spices; lobby coffee was lukewarm; breakfast options were severely limited; breakfast area was cramped and lacked adequate seating/tables for guests; sensed a lack of concern for guests and their needs by staff; will not return to this BW.
When ever were traveling we always try an stay at a Best Western. The Topeka Western has always been the best we have stayed at. The staff always goes out of it's way to make our stay the best ever. Breakfast was always on time an they never seem to run out even if your the last to arrive near the end.
My family and I stayed at this Best Western for a funeral, the hotel was in an excellent location close to the West Ridge mall, and other attractions. The pool and hot tub was clean and refreshing after a long day of family activities. The coffee, and breakfast was the best way to start off the day before leaving the hotel.
Had a nice stay in one of the 2 queen suites. Had fun swimming with kids in the pool. Asked for new towels for swimming area that were never delivered. Some of the furniture and carpet are ripped and needed repair. Room was clean and organized. Front desk staff seemed somewhat nonchalant about thier job. Room was spacious and had working internet.
It looks like the hotel has had some recent updates...new carpet, elevator, nice game area for the kids. It wasn't the best hotel but the breakfast was good and the king room was HUGE. Would certainly stay here again for the value if traveling through.
Bugs, spiders, crickets in room. Manager was to call me back, never did. Small breakfast area. Hotel needs an update now. People seemed to car about issues but did not offer to do anything and employees I talked to knew nothing about the area
I have stayed at this hotel many times and I always have an enjoyable stay. I'm a platinum member and I feel like they treat me as one. The room is always clean, breakfast is always delicious and the staff is very nice.
We were ready to call it a day and spotted this hotel when we pulled off the interstate to find a place for the night. It was an older hotel but very nice. No elevators but only 2 floors so it was not bad at all. Very quiet area which was nice too. Nice hot breakfast of eggs and biscuits and gravy plus fruit and yogurt. Also handy that it was close to a gas station for leaving.
Property is totally out of date. It's the first multi story Best Western I've ever been in that does not have an elevator. Obviously the owners are attempting to squeeze every nickel they can get out of this property. Best Western needs to find another property to represent them in Topeka, or if not then don't have a property in Topeka. This property is a disgrace.
This is a bit older hotel as no elevator but only 2 floors. Really nice and not far from the interstate. Really a nice place to stay and quiet. No eating establishments close by so had to drive to find something.
My husband and i enjoyed our stay in topeka. The room was very spacious and it felt clean. Our luggage was carried by jose who offered to help us as my husband had a broken foot. The staff was very nice to us and the breakfast was delightful.
we are traveling to Denver and had two rooms reserved. I called because getting more than one room online is difficult and I wanted to make sure we had rooms on the first floor. we arrived about 9:30 pm; tired from a long day on the road. our rooms were on the second floor with no elevator...very difficult for elderly (69yrs) people. the neighbors across the hall were having a multi-room party with their doors open for egress for their loud kids. when I asked them to close the door and hold it down, they flat out refused. my TWICE complaining to the management did nothing. I wish I had called the police because it kept going till almost 2:00am. DON'T STAY HERE!
We have been staying at this hotel once a year for many years. Manager and staff always friendly. Manager very accommodating, remembers us every year and treats us like family. Beds comfortable, Breakfast is a good value for being included. They do an excellent job of keeping it stocked up with fresh items. Overall good value the price.
The receptionist was aware my wife had a hard time walking and our room was on the 2nd floor with no elevator so she offered us a king suite at no extra charge. We felt that this was way above the normal service and we appreciate that kind of service
The hotel is fine for a one night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good but the room was rather small. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking lot had trash scattered around and that was not appealing.
On arrival we requested a quiet room, as the room was not ready we went for lunch and soon after checking into the room we discovered it was near a busy road so we asked to get moved. After conversations with reception staff viva Anna the manager we were told there would be a charge. We felt this was unfair and refused but we were left dissatisfied.
Beds in the room had some sort of covering on the mattress or box spring that sounded and felt like plastic. Reminded us of sleeping on a baby's crib mattress. Every time one of us moved at night, the sound of of the mattress was terrible. We ended up heading down the road the next morning very early after not getting any semblance of a decent sleep. Went to get a little ice for our beverage glasses and a small bag of ice for a cooler for the road and were told "sorry, our ice maker is out of service" Had never been to a hotel where there was no ice available.
I was going to stay at the Motel 6 across the street, but it looked super sketchy so I decided to fork out the dough for Best Western. It was all right: nice hot tub and pool. But the rooms are a little run down and I agree that this is a 65-dollar hotel. I stayed in a much nicer Comfort Inn the next night for less than this place. I like Best Western a lot and I was satisfied, but this one is lower than the typical BW standard.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice room and good breakfast. Location ideal. Really enjoyed our stay and staff checked often to make sure everything was satisfactory. Room was spacious and comfortable.
The price of the rooms are way to high for the quality of the hotel. It seemed run down and the bed was uncomfortable. The refrigerator barely worked. There was no elevator and the door closes to the stairs didn't work. I wouldn't pay more than $60-65 a night for this hotel. If I had paid $60 rather than over $100 I would have given it a better rating. I had stayed at a Marriott the night before so this was a big let down.
I chose the Best Western in Topeka Kansas because I always have a comfortable stay. I book a room every year because I know that I will be greeted with a friendly smile and my room is always ready when I arrive. I think the hotel is easy to find too. Interstate-70 has an exit very near to the hotel.
Nice place with polite helpful staff. The in-room Jacuzzi was nice & room was clean & equipped with fridge, microwave, etc. Only complaint: downstairs room, can hear people walking upstairs. Water pressure was OK, but not real strong.
I spent one night at the Best Western Topeka Inn & Suites recently while making the drive to Colorado for a ski trip. I picked this hotel based largely on the reviews from TripAdvisor, the value and the ease of access to I-70. It can't get much easier to get to & from the Interstate and with a couple of gas stations right next door. It was the perfect overniter. I had a King room that was very nice size with working space for laptops and such and a good sized flat screen TV if you had a longer stay. The room was very clean with a comfortable King bed and comfortable pillows. My only complaint would be the shower, which was a cheap model shower head and very low water pressure, making for the dreaded "Low Flow" shower experience. But aside from that, it was a good stay with a decent breakfast included at a fair price. I would definitely stay here again.
Even though, as in our stay a year earlier, not everything was up to expectations, but the cheerful and helpful staff made up for it. I've not had the plumbing or smell or noise experiences others have complained about here. In fact, everything was going much more smoothly than during our check in of the past year, until breakfast. The food choices were few, the waffle iron was cold, the television was off with no remote control and a door was falling off the hinges in the eating area. So why did I award five stars? Because I realize things go wrong. The staff was quick to address concerns and I found our stay overall to be quite comfortable and the hotel's accessibility to I-70 was convenient. Some things to work on! But we'll be back.
The accommodations were dated but clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was caring and welcoming. We were not rushed out of breakfast even though we lingered a few minutes past 9. The overall stay was good.
This hotel is showing it's age. We had to switch rooms due to a dripping faucet twice. The odor is not pleasant. That being said the beds were comfy and the staff accommodating. We visit topeka often for swim meets and I will be looking elsewhere in the future.
We were on our way to Branson and need a place to stop on the way. This was very convenient. The breakfast was good and the rooms were fairly clean. The toilet did not flush in the rooms and that was very unpleasant.
Summary: a decent, clean hotel that needs a little TLC and updating. I tend to lean towards Best Western as I find the brand delivers good, affordably priced accommodations across the U.S. I booked this property for a 1 night stay in early Nov. 2016. It's location is conveniently off I-70 and is located near several other hotels. The exterior of the property looks good, painted likely in the last 3-5 years and the grounds maintained. The check-in/lobby area is somewhat small, but clean and having nice furniture. The breakfast area is off the check-in/lobby area. It fits about 7-8 four top tables and a few 2 person tables. The breakfast is the regular fare (hot scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, etc.) but I found the variety a little limited. For example, at other Best Westerns I've stayed at there's 2 types of sausage available or bacon with sausage. This breakfast had a more limited selection. Still, it was clean and attended by the staff. The hotel also has a pool room, with a somewhat smaller-than-usual pool and a somewhat larger-than-usual hot tub. It was clean and sufficient towels were provided. So that leaves just the room to review, and this is where the review gets the Average ranking rather than possibly Very Good. The room size and furnishings were standard for a 2 Queen bed room. However, there were some issues. First, one of the beds was positioned so close to the wall, only the very thin could walk on that side of the bed. Second, the room had a few places were the paint was chipped (and possibly the drywall). Third, the faucet had a continuous (though not annoying) drip. Fourth, and most bothersome, while the bathroom had a standard light fixture, there was no switch to operate it. Only a timer switch to operate the heat lamp. Suffice to say, the room could get very warm if one took a hot shower. Replacing a light switch is relatively easy, and I think the other items would be easy to fix too if noted on a room walk-through. Overall, the stay was acceptable. The staff was pleasant. This location is one I would keep in the back of my mind as a fallback place to stay in Topeka, but with a little TLC it would more likely be among my first choices.
Had atrium room, was very NOISY they had tile floors outside the rooms so heard everything all night long. Could not sleep. Food was great we ordered room service, was very prompt and friendly and had breakfast next morning and was great. Cost of food was reasonable, but would have liked free breakfast like most Best Westerns have.
Room was very nice, clean. The bed was very comfortable and not super high like other hotels. My only complaint was no elevator and it was not listed in the hotel description. Breakfast was standard fair but good and hot. Staff were very nice.
Great place. Seemed very new and the room was excellent. The bed mattress was excellent which was very important since we had traveled 800 miles and needed a good nice rest. Breakfast was very good. We arrived in a down pour of rain and the check in area had an over hang so we didn't get wet. The hotel staff was very accommodating.
Good clean and quiet place. Reasonably priced, good hot breakfast. Day employees very friendly and helpful. Night/early AM check out person not helpful, not friendly, needs not to be there to inflict further damage to an otherwise great place.
We have stayed at this motel and have been very satisfied with the room and the service each time. It's also pet friendly and we have had easy access to the outside for our dog. The motel staff has always been very friendly and helpful.
Didn't realize I was sleeping on stained bed sheets until morning. Clear, definable discoloration on the mattress cover - all that was between me and somebody else's "good time" was a thin bed sheet. Totally disgusting!
This hotel was a good location for me while I was in town. It was right off the expressway. Restaurants close by. It was clean, rooms were clean, looked like recently renovated. Breakfast area was small. I was expecting larger, compared to other Best Western's.
I had to come to this hotel to stay for a family funeral. The stay was pleasant. The room was clean and quiet. TV worked fine. The hotel is located in a very good spot to get to everything in the city. Easy in and out. No elevator. I have bad knees and this was a little bothersome. The overall stay was very good though.
The bed in my room was truly fit for royalty. It was soooo comfortable and the sheets were soft and cozy. I felt absolutely pampered! I would have loved to stay a few more nights. I will definitely be back as soon as I come through this area again.
We had a suite which was nice. Though we really wanted to enjoy it, the breakfast lived up to most of the reviews we read. It was terrible. We ended up going out for a meal after eating a few bites at the hotel breakfast.
I did not have any issues here and I have to say the place was clean and the staff was friendly. I would stay here again if I am ever in the area. Breakfast was good and actually hot so that was nice.
This place is a total disappointment. No early check-in (after 12pm when check-in is at 2pm), locked front doors at 1pm, one housekeeping staff for each of the two floors--that apparently had every room occupied the previous night, and one staff for front desk--including mopping the foyer. Toilets are so old that can only flush once an hour or less often (one of the housekeepers is crosstrained to do maintenance). No elevator. Expect strong perfume odor of cleaning products, and music turned up loud to find which of the many open uncleaned rooms one can find housekeeper. No wonder that between 11:30am and 3pm there are still only 4 cars in the parking lot, and no signs of other guests. For the price of the rooms, one would expect better. I do not recommend this place. Owner and management is very poor. Staff are nice.
This hotel was very clean and spacious! The price was so fair and would definitely stay again and recommend it to our closest friends. There was a dog convention during our stay and we didn't notice/hear them throughout our stay. Amenities were promised and were available as soon as we arrived. Front desk host was courteous and friendly.
From the time we entered the front doors, our experience was GREAT. We were greeted promptly by a friendly staff member. He had all our information ready to process. We were checked in and one our way to the room in a matter of minutes. The room was excellent. Very clean and fresh. Breakfast was good and check out was easy. They insisted I park my motorcycle just outside the front door (and under the security camera) so they could keep an eye on it. We will definitely stay here again.
The first thing we said when we entered our room was, "This suite is not so sweet." We had a "two-room suite," with a sofa bed and two queens. The first thing we noticed when we entered the room was the horrible smell. It was overbearing and disgusting. The next thing we noticed upon entering was that the couch was falling apart. Literally. It had a broken leg and the couch cushions were torn. It teetered between the broken and not broken legs when sat upon. We originally booked this hotel for the sofa bed, but with the state of the sofa, there was no way we were going to use it as a bed. The suite had two queen beds on one side of the half-wall divider and a "living area" on the other side. Both sides had TVs. This was awesome, except the TVs were ten feet apart from each other. Which meant you really couldn't comfortably watch TV on one if the other was being watched at the same time. The paint in the room was an atrocious orange that looked like it was painted by a 5 year old (paint bleeding into the trim). At least the bathroom appeared clean, though the towels seemed thin and threadbare. The staff was horrible. They gave us no information upon arrival so we had no idea when breakfast was (which mean we missed it--we weren't happy), when the pool closed, when checkout was. We should have thought to ask, but most front desk staff give you the information when you arrive. All in all, the hotel served its purpose. It was a stop on a long road trip. It was a pleasant enough night's sleep (once we went to the local Walmart and purchased air freshener). However, this is not a hotel I would recommend nor stay at longer than one night.
Checked in around 10:00 PM. Staff was wonderful, had 5 year old with us and even though pool was technically closed staff allowed us to get in for about 30 minutes to help the 5 year old wind down after all day on the road in the car. SO thankful! Room was very clean, smelled great and was so comfortable. Breakfast was basic but fresh fruit and breads, waffles with hearts on them excited our 5 year old grand son. Well done Best Western, once again you have not failed us! Would I recommend? YES!
Motel in general was ok, staff friendly and courteous. But, we had a suite with 2 beds, only enough towels for 2 people. Had to ask for more, although they did give them to us with no problem. Receptacle in room by sink shut off every time you plugged something in. Micro wave not plugged in and cord won't reach any receptacles. Breakfast is small with limited seating and poor variety. One of the worse Best Western breakfasts I've been too on my trip and this is the 8th one on this trip.
We stayed here for one night on our way south. It is an old hotel, immediately discernible by the sagging portico over the front door. Quite a few of the windows had bent screens and overall the place does not look great. However it did have parking available for the moving truck and trailer we had and it was at the end of a long day's drive so we checked in. The hotel is pet friendly but we were not able to get a first floor room as we requested. The room itself was clean and this is the most important thing to me. The exception was the arm chair. That did not look good. Rather dingy and with a torn foot stool. The hotel featured quite a bit of noise from the hallway as well. There is a large empty lot next door which worked well for walking the dogs. I didn't get a chance to have breakfast there. I went down for coffee and the small room was full, all coffee containers empty and just not easy to get around. The room was poorly lit and frankly what I did see did not look appetizing. They were making more coffee but honestly I was irritated that they let everything run out before making more. Might be best to start fresh coffee before the pots run dry completely. I would not stay here again.
This hotel was very well kept and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating to us, especially when requesting a handicap room. We brought our small dog as well, and they made sure that the room worked for both having a handicap requirement and a dog with us. We would definitely come again.
In our many experiences, Best Western hotels are always clean, comfortable, and pleasant. The physical environment here meets those same standards. The only difference was in the attitude of the registration clerk named Idalis. She was very rude and demeaning to us. We had several questions regarding the hotel's policies, (which we totally understand), but her responses to us were abrupt and sarcastic. She did not speak clearly, mumbled, and spoke very quickly. We had to ask her to repeat everything she said which obviously annoyed her immensely. It's a shame that a first impression has to be so negative.
This hotel is OK, but it is an older facility and lacks many of the amenities of the newer Best Westerns. We were travelling with two adults and one child in the group and made reservations ahead of time. The room we were given had 4 towels, but only 1 washcloth and 1 hand towel. It also had a badly dripping faucet on the sink. We complained about the sink and the shortage of towels, and we were promptly given another room. This room had a better sink, but was missing 2 washcloths and a bar of soap. It seems like this hotel does not properly stock their rooms as a matter of habit. With a reservation with three people, the room should have been stocked with an appropriate number of towels, washcloths and soap. To the credit of the staff, they did take care of the issues quickly and were courteous. Still, more attention to details like this would make this a much better hotel. The room was clean and nice and the pool was good. The continental breakfast was good, but not as extensive as the Best Western Plus line of hotels. Food was hot and tasty.
Hotel was OK, but Biscuits should not be cold and Gravy should be more than lukewarm, both handicap spots were being used illegally, one of the handicap spots (of 2) had blocked signage, the other was being used by hotel employee's brother who was not in the car.
The Best Western was clean and well kept. After a long day of driving and checking in around 10pm, we were expecting a friendly face as we have come to expect from Best Western. However the young woman who checked us in was quite rude not only to is but other guests. The morning staff was wonderful and pleasant as was the lady attending the breakfast. Hopefully the night shift lady was having a bad night. Otherwise the hotel was clean and nice.
This is a hotel that could be made excellent with just a little more attention to detail. Things like making sure that the food in the breakfast bar is adequately stocked, a tray under the ice bucket so the condensation doesn't run everywhere. Overall it is a lovely hotel, nice clean rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff...it just needs little more to make it perfect!!!
Great stay. The price is reasonable, and much better than Kansas City prices. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is typical BW. Good internet and movie channels. So overall I recommend this hotel.
This hotel provided all our needs. The staff was very helpful and kind. Pool was great and refreshing. Very reasonable for the money. It was very close to the interstate and to our events location without driving across town.
Stayed for one night at reasonable rates. The hotel is older with bathroom updates. Restaurants nearby and interstate easily accessible within yards of the hotel. Indoor swimming pool definite plus for families. Very quiet and hot breakfast a plus.
Stayed here for a wedding. Check in was great, Nelson was helpful and the room was updated, clean and very nice. Appreciate the refrigerator in the room! Bed was kind of hard, but otherwise great stay. Complimentary breakfast is a plus!
Room 219. Upon arrival we noticed food crumbs on one of the beds. Honestly thought it may have come from my son. The overall appearance of the room other than the crumbs was decent. The air conditioning wasn't cooling the room very well at first, thermostat was set at 54 degrees and it was warm in the room. However the temperature was 100 degrees with high humidity. I would imagine that had something to do with ac issue. The staff is friendly and courteous. Upon waking up my son who is three knocked the comforter off of the bed that we had slept in and this is when my experience turned sour, apparently the cleaning service had not stripped the bed completely and we discovered a used band aid stuck to the top sheet! (Pictures to follow) I immediately called the front desk and asked for the manager and explained to her that not only were crumbs on the bed but that there was a band aid stuck to the sheets. She then proceeded to tell me that I should have complained when we arrived and they would have moved us. As I stated earlier I wasn't completely sure that the crumbs didn't come from my son, we had been on the road for approximately 8 hours and had eaten while driving. She offered me a $15 credit for the lack of cleanliness. We paid $115 and some change. She offered to enroll me into the rewards program and give me 1000 points towards our next stay. I may mention that my son has brain cancer and while he isn't currently undergoing chemotherapy and has an immune system a used bandaid is unacceptable under any circumstances
The price at this hotel was far too high. Quality of room and poor internet was not good. The desk did not tell us about the tax when we got billed. This Best Western was by far the worst of the three that we stayed in; breakfast was unsatisfactory. We stayed at two other BW Pluses on our journey that were in cost than this one including in Dallas with more amenities. Here in Topeka this BW was quite substandard.
Hands down the Best Western Topeka Inn and Suites was the best I ever stayed. Staff was very AMAZING and the rooms were clean, and everything worked. The staff made me feel like I was on some VIP list and it felt pretty good to get that service with a smile. Thank you !!
This was a very clean, quiet, and comfortable place to stay. The breakfast room had good choices. Staff very helpful. I also enjoyed the pool. This motel is close to the interstate but the street wasn't too busy-easy access.
This was an older hotel. Not a Plus hotel. I could tell they had tried to update at one time but the finishes were poorly done on calling and flooring. I requested a first floor room because I had a heavy suitcase and I have had surgeries on my keen and back. They couldn't accommodate me even nought when I got their I was the only one I the parking lot. Be aware this hotel does NOT have and elevator. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were adequate. Ok for a quick stay on the road. Breakfast was typical continental. No restaurants close by. Had to drive to Wannamaker Road where all the other hotels are located.
room 231, room hot. A/c kept stopping. Finally set to low temp and fan to max. still stopped but room finally got cool, might need coolant? Breakfast ran short of eggs and sausage. We were warned about no Elevator, but didnt need one for the short stay.
We enjoyed the extra space in the suite. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom fan made a lot of noise and the shower water pipes whistled when in use. We would stay here again. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
hotel was on a very convenient location near highway. Staff gave me express check out which was very nice. Indoor pool was well kept and clean. Breakfast had a wide variety of options and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Property looks well kept.
While the staff was excellent and fixed our COLD water problem, the rest of the experience was lacking. The room was smelly, the bath tub slippery (not clean?), the toilet so close to the door and wall, it was difficult to use. Slept good on a pretty good bed, NICE pillows. Breakfast pretty slim and not very inviting in appearance. Paid too much for what we got.
This is a very good hotel. The staff are top notch and the overall appearance of this property is excellent! The breakfast in the mornings is really good and a good way to start off a busy day. It is very close to the interstate, but if you are needing to a good nights rest better go somewhere else as you would get better rest sleeping on a bed of nails than their mattresses! Man, they are solid and firm..take that back EXTRA FIRM! If you like sleeping on an extra firm mattress then this is the place for you. If you are like me and need a little bit of softness look somewhere else. Just thought I would warn travelers of this places firm mattresses.
Retrofitted from probably the 70's. Very nicely done. It looks like a brand new building. Easy to find right off I 70. Mile to Starbucks (one of only 3 or 4 in all of Topeka. There is a wall between the bedroom and the living room with an opening but no door between the two areas. T V in both areas. Very spacious with nice furniture. Very clean. Only charged me $10 for my dog not $20 like most places. Breakfast is the basic powdered eggs and sausage. Coffee and cookies in the lobby at night. Very easy to find.
Was right off the highway.Cozy,clean.and classy! We stayed in the whirlpool suite with king size bed.Whirlpool was very nice and relaxing.King bed was very spacious loved it!Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Overall experience was phenomenal, the staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to places to visit and eat in Topeka, and the room itself was very clean and comfortable. This was my first time staying at a Best Western and will most likely stay at another one because of my experience.
After asking for a first floor room on the website reservation, we were given a 2nd floor room in a hotel that had no elevator. The complimentary breakfast was average. The inroom wifi was good. I don't blame Best Western for the exorbitant state/local room tax that was charged.
From check in to check out my stay was very good. My son and I enjoyed the pool, which was the cleanest pool I have ever seen. The bed was nice and comfortable. The room was perfect size for us and the breakfast was delicious. This is a great hotel.
Clean rooms, comfy bed, noise level reasonable, friendly staff..helpful staff and beds are comfy enough my hubby wants to own one. I have stayed at other places in town on previous trips and none that are reasonably priced compare to this one. It is definitely worth the few extra dollars to get a good nights sleep and have a comfortable stay.
We have stayed here before about a year ago but this time it was not good. The bed was very hard. You could feel every movement from the other person in the bed. The back of the bathroom door appeared to be smeared with peanut butter. I would have thought it was wood putty, but there were still alot of holes. I brought this to the front desks attention and was told that there were plans to replace all bathroom doors this summer. I mentioned a good sanding was in order and was told the manager would be notified. The hotel was sold out so no other rooms were available. I won't stay here again.
The hotel was very clean, quite and the bed was extremely comfortable. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was excellent. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. If in the area again we will be sure to stay here.
Stayed here passing thru Topeka. This was my first stay at a Best Western and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is. The breakfast attendant was extremely helpful and made sure I enjoyed the breakfast. I will start staying at more best western's after this experience.
I rented 5 rooms for high school students, bus driver, and teacher (me). Service was excellent. We competed at FBLA Convention across town. In the past I have been given a price break for high school and for staying there every year for the same contest.
Very nice hotel...staff was extremely nice.my grandsons enjoyed the indoor pool and the room was clean and very comfortable. .. the continental breakfast was great... the boys loved the waffles!!! Everything was stocked for breakfast! !! The hotel was quiet even though it was booked solid due to wrestling tournament... but all the staff had smiles and so helpful and friendly... if u are ever in topeka kansas u can't go wrong booking at this hotel!!!
I have stayed at this particular Best Western multiple times. It is consistently clean with a friendly staff. Pet friendly with a great place to walk the dogs on the other side of the parking lot. Nice indoor pool.
Hotel looked nice from pictures and I am a rewards member so I decided to choose this hotel for a night stay. Room was very clean, wifi fast and breakfast was better than most. One of the better best westerns that I stayed at during my road trip.
Clogged toilet upon arrival. Sent plunger for do it yourself solution to problem. Handicap walking breathing-given room on second floor no elevator. Possible violation to Aid to Disabilities Act. Wake up call not given-late departure facing bad weather and a 600 mile driving trip. Not usual quality for a Best Western and will never stay in this location in Topeka Kansas
I have stayed at this hotel before and was excited when we saw they had a jacuzzi room well the jacuzzi left us wanting more it was not in proper working order to enjoy it fully. Breakfast before had been better not sure why they took away some of the choices
We recently stayed here overnight on a business trip and were pleased with the service and the hotel. The room was comfortable, quiet, and clean. It had a separate sitting area with two flat screen televisions (king room). The breakfast was just okay but kind of what you might expect. The staff was very helpful and the free internet worked well. Overall it was a very good stay.
This is a very clean hotel with a great free breakfast and Staff very friendly and welcoming, rooms are spacious, contemporary & clean. The staff is more than accommodating. The hotel is such a good value; no complaints about this hotel whatsoever. I will definitely be back. Thank You!
During our family vacation we booked every time through Best Western and Topeka Kansas was the last one before home. We arrived at 8:15pm and go up to our room the toilet seat was not sturdy, but said we can deal with it 1 night and went swimming. The pool was very cold water and when we got back into our room to turn T.V. on for the kids it wouldn't work. We need to use the fridge and that didn't work either. To our surprise they were both unplugged behind the dresser by the extention cord, not the outlet on the wall. then time for bed since it was 10pm and the people before turned the mattress over so the bed was rock hard. We complained to front desk and they couldn't put us in no other room. She would talk to managerment the next day. they only took $7.00 off our bill very disappointed in the service and what we had to go through.
My family and I have stayed at this motel several times in the past and it is our first choice of a place to stay in Topeka, KS. Would certainly recommend Best Western as a good motel to stay in no matter where you are staying. They have an excellent facility and serve a very good breakfast.
Not trying to be cryptic; I'm pretty easy to please! But we got off to a rocky start which was mitigated perfectly satisfactorily by the front desk; the reason good staff is even more important than a good facility. The lobby, hallways and rooms are luxurious! But our key didn't work! Went Back down to lobby, got a key that worked but the room wasn't the right one, it didn't have enough beds! Back for another key before we found our room for the night! After traveling all day, I really wanted to soak in the hot tub. Sadly, the temperature was not very hot so I didn't stay long. This could have been another mark against a perfect score in my review. But I was so grateful they allowed us to use the pool area after the posted closing time of 10:00 p.m, we were satisfied. In short, things were not perfect. But Fernanda at the front desk was so accommodating and so charming, little else mattered. A hot breakfast the next morning and more help from the front desk, I asked for a pizza box to shield my vans radiator from freezing rain, and we were in our way happily. Excellent public service can ameliorate a multitude of discomforts.
Had a wonderful weekend stay here. Hotel is very clean and the room was perfect. Very large room with a comfortable bed. The front desk clerk was very polite and helpful. Hot breakfast was a perfect end to my stay. Highly recommend this hotel.
Forced to stop in Topeka because of weather but quickly found a Best Western close by. It was a clean, basic hotel with very friendly staff. Great breakfast selection including strawberries and whipped cream for the waffles. Beds are a little old but still comfortable enough.
Had to stay at a hotel due to plumbing issues at our house. This hotel was within half a mile. The girls at the front counter were very nice. One was being trained. I was checked in fairly quickly. The room (#201) was nice. It was quite clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The hotel was quiet but I doubt there were any children there at the time. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was pretty plain but clean and functional. Ample supply of towels. Everything worked fine. The only things wrong were the bathtub faucet leaked around the handle while the faucet was on, although that did not cause me any problems, and two containers of body lotion left for bathroom instead of one shampoo and one body lotion. I went to the front desk and they got me a shampoo right away. I had to leave early for work so did not sample the breakfast. I was quite happy with my stay and would recommend this hotel.
Had a very enjoyable experience while here. Very quiet and comfortable room. I usually don't sleep well while in a hotel and I slept like a baby during our stay. The lounge chair was appreciated along with the refrigerator. The location close to Gage Park was perfect for our time at the Pow Wow and gave us a quiet place to relax between sessions.
We stayed here on our way to Utah. We have a rewards card but because we used a coupon to get a reasonable rate we were told no point on that stay. The room number was 101. The fan in the bathroom was so loud and if you turned it off you had no light in the bathroom. We did report it but who knows if it will get fixed. The room was clean and the rate was close to $70. I think we should have gotten reward points. If you have a rewards card and use a coupon don't expect points. I really see no reason to have a rewards card. I would prefer the lower rate.
Room was clean but very dated and bathroom could really use some upgrade. Our first room tv had no sound so was given a larger room. Lost microwave in exchange but ok with that. For the price was ok but not sure I'd stay again. M
My first experience was based on getting a 25.00 gift card for two nights stay. Another person that I was traveling with had decided to try the Topeka facility and see after a nice night in Dillon, CO. I have no real complaints of the Topeka property. There are no restrurants nearby and two conveince stores with minimal things to eat. All in all I'd stay there again.
We stayed here for two nights while we were attending a football game in Manhattan Kansas. We relceived better rates and had more restaurant choices. Hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub and breakfast. Most seem to have some sort of breakfast now. Nice rooms remember this is not the Ritz but for the price and traveling it is very good for a few nights.
The bed was comfortable, room clean, some maintenance work is needed on the bathroom tile, caulking missing. Breakfast just average but was good enough for my wife and I. Easy on and off the freeway and gas station next door for an easy fill up.
Room was clean and large. Bathroom clean. Breakfast was not very good, many items were gone when we went to breakfast. Front desk clerks were friendly and helpful. Indoor pool appeared clean, as did lobby.
Room was clean and well maintained , Wi-Fi was better than most, easy on and off freeway access. There is a fuel station and convenience store across lot for snacks. Breakfast was well supplied and fresh. This was a one night layover, the impression left was good and would use it again.
The reviews are spot on. We where just passing by on our way home to Kentucky and wanted a comfortable place to stay after driving for 13 hours. The front desk was nice, the room was clean and comfortable. But the hot breakfast was the best part. For a cheaper stay we were surprised at the choices at breakfast; hot biscuits and gravy, sausage and eggs was what we needed to start our day.
no elevator be aware if get 2nd floor freezer did not freeze bed rather hard breakfast selection eggs, biscuit, gravy, yogart, sausage few restuarants nearby better rates at nearby places friendly people
There was a urine smell in bathroom. Didn't think the room had been cleaned all that well. The coffee maker had nasty water coming out. The OJ had not been checked before breakfast and the breakfast was not that great. Morning person was not friendly at all. Were only given 3 wash clothes and 2 hand towels in room.
