Stay anywhere else in town. We were given a room next to what appeared to be a couple of unaccompanied children with an adjoining door. First of all, there was a pretty big gap underneath the adjoining doors and the walls were paper thin. And these kids were little terrors. They repeatedly slammed their side of the adjoining doors and screamed laughing until we yelled at them to stop. Then they pounded, yelled, and screamed for about an hour. We let them blow off some steam then called the front desk at around 9 when it was time to go to bed. It didn't help. We called back and it didn't help. They finally shut up for a while but they woke us up several times throughout the night, at around 1:30 and 3:30 am. It really sucked. The front desk person didn't offer us any accommodation but was apologetic. She said the GM would reach out to us but that didn't happen. The room wasn't great. There were two big holes in the ceiling that had been incompletely mended, We checked around town and also found out we really overpaid for the area. Avoid this hotel.
Excellent hotel location! Nice breakfast grand room with additional outdoor seating! Room 153 was in area of rooms away from office. Our room had a woodsy view out back sliding door. Sonora is great launching place for Yosemite! We enjoyed dinner at Sonora Thai. Very mild so if you want spicy, let staff know. Our destination that day was through Tioga Pass to Lone Pine.
Really top-notch service, very friendly and helpful. Quiet area, easy access and convenient to shopping and historic downtown, but not too much traffic. Rooms were exceptionally clean, beds and pillows among the most comfortable ever encountered in a hotel! Good, typical breakfast buffet with friendly attendants. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Although upon arrival, my first impression was it was run-down looking. However, it later appeared the landscape was being renovated and the on-premise restaurant will be re-opening soon after renovation. The two-story wing were in did not have an elevator but I saw a new one was being added in the wing nearest the lobby. The pool and hot tub looked clean and in good condition. The free breakfast was very good with a lot of selections and all prepared well. It's located about 3 miles east of the town center.
We needed a place to stay for the night when things went wrong at our house. So we checked into the hotel around midnight, and Maria at the front desk was friendly and helpful. She greeted me as a Diamond Select member and gave us our complimentary water followed by two freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. The room was quiet, so we got a great night's sleep. We woke to the birds singing in the woods outside our window. A great way to start the day!
An older facility, but clean and well maintained. The staff was courteous, friendly and responsive to our questions. Absolutely the best breakfast bar that I have ever seen to include higher priced competitors!
Have been staying here for about a decade and enjoy the location-breakfast-and nearby dining and thrift shops
I went here at 10:30 at night after the Inn I was staying in literally had someone with COVID coughing up his lungs and hawking loogies super loudly in the room next to me as a permanent resident, and I was uncomfortable and facing driving back to Los Angeles at 10 PM but I did a quick search and found this place. They had a room and it was super comfy. It was clean and really nice for a Best Western. I'd stay here again. The gals at the front desk were so helpful and kind. I am really impressed with this place.
The staff is wonderful. They treat you like family and are always there if you need help or have any questions. The rooms are clean and spacious with a very nice view of pine trees. I would definitely stay here again and tell everyone I know to stay here.
Very personal and helpful front desk with pertinent questions and concerns of what I preferred in room location. the cookies were a nice treat after a long day. The elderly lady in the breakfast area was very helpful and pleasant. Need real oatmeal with all the fixings. Need multiple flavors of yogurt.
This Best Western Plus is a great place to stay. The breakfasts are really handy so you don't have to leave to eat. The rooms are clean and so are the grounds. The staff has always been polite and helpful. We always stay here when in the Sonora area.
Very nice hotel. Front desk personnel were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and hosts greeted us at the door. Nice, quiet location. Only problem is the parking is very tight, so difficult for guests with large vehicles.
Great hotel - clean, friendly staff 0 superb breakfast buffet served by very friendly staff and the overall ambience was pleasing, Great location and easy to get to as well as being close to Sonora downtown
The jacuzzi tub was disgusting, there were no pillows for the pull out bed. The staff wasn't friendly or helpful. The toilet felt like it was going to fall over when you set on it. We were treated like poor people and told we couldn't park next to the nice cars
We always love staying at the Best Western Sonora Oaks when we're in Sonora. From the greeting we receive from the Front Desk staff to folks helping with breakfast and the housekeeping staff, everyone is really helpful and pleasant and makes us feel welcome.
We stayed in a King Exec room with a nice view of the oak trees on the property. Everything was fine (bed, linens, A/C, view, bathroom) and clean. Wifi wasn't working - that was disappointing. Breakfast was (typically) bland, but good. Coffee was alright. I've stayed here a few times. It seems to be the best deal on the Sonora area, even if prices seem high to me.
The Best Western Plus in Sonora is a great gem in the Sonora Foothills. The property is well managed, the rooms comfortable, continental breakfast delicious. Heartily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Sierras or on vacation.
This hotel was great. The room and beds were comfortable and clean. The hot tub was clean. The staff was super nice and helpful. They had the BEST breakfast options including hot and cold options. I would definitely stay here again.
I absolutely love this hotel and their staff. I'm in Sonora on business with the post office and I've been staying here for the past 3 months. It is my home away from home. The breakfast are great, front staff always great you with a smile, maid service are top notch. The maintenance crew keeps the grounds in beautiful shape. Simply love this place.
First place to book when I am traveling for business. Always accommodating during my stay there. Large rooms with balcony. Nice views. Relaxing atmosphere. Same basic breakfast but it's a hot meal. Recommend it.
When we arrived we were given an upstairs room . I asked for a downstairs room for my husband, who has a hard time walking stairs. I was told that none were available, so we made do. I did notice that the room door had a large gap underneath it where weather stripping needed replaced. The small balcony had a table and chairs that needed swept off to be able to enjoy it. Lots of spider webs and dead bugs on the table. Breakfast was almost completely gone when we got into the dining area. Ended up going to McDonald's
The hotel was really nice. The front dest clerk was very friendly and personable. They even had a little plastic canister with a couple of dog treats and a toy for my dog so cute. I will be staying here again when I come visit my family.
Excellent hotel where my family experienced a very clean room, kind services, and delicious free breakfast. We picked this hotel to go skiing to Dodge Ridge ski place and, although it's 40 minutes away, I doubt there's any better quality hotel within the Dodge Ridge area. It's the best Best Western I've stayed!
The rooms and the breakfast are good and a decent value, but I ended up cheated of almost a thousand dollars after booking here. I used a service called reservations.com also known as getaroom.com when I thought I was booking a room directly online. I prepaid at an exceptionally high rate for a week. When I arrived I was turned away. Months later I still don't have my money back. The hotel did nothing to help the first five times I complained, blaming their business partners. I wouldn't share my credit card information with this business or it's affiliates again
We stayed at the Best Western in Sonora Christmas 2022 with 2 dogs. The room was ready early, the front staff were very welcoming and informative. The room was very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately there was no elevator, so getting the suitcases and dog crate up the stairs was a bit inconvenient. The breakfast was good, the sunrise was beautiful. I would recommend this hotel if your in Sonora.
I like going to BW Plus Sonora because it is right in between both Casinos (Black Oak and Chicken Ranch) I like going to both casinos while my wife relaxes at the hotel. I also like this location because it rarely gets snowed in and a perfect place to crash when I head up the Hwy108 to do some fishing.
My room needed to be cleaned better, for example the floor wasn't vacuumed and I had to use a towel to mop the bathroom floor. My clear plastic cups weren't replaced. The food was great, the kitchen workers were polite and talkative. The front desk people were helpful
Still waiting for refund for my stay November 18-20 Spa room had mold and was wet . Unhealthy and hazardous. Still waiting to hear back from manager to get refund. Hope to hear back soon or there will be a more in depth review. On more than Just on here. Waiting for them to make things right . If review is still up i never got refund . So far it's been a week .
This is a fairly standard, mid-range hotel with all the amenities that go with that. The room was nice but not special, and the jacuzzi tub is located right in the entryway of the room with not wall to block its view and a large cut-out in the wall between it and the bedroom, which is especially odd. I was traveling with a friend, sharing a room, and we were only given one card key and told it would cost $100 to replace should we lose it. We were also give a single "ticket" for the complimentary breakfast, but my friend and I awaken, dress, and eat at different times, so having one room key and only one meal ticket was awkward at best. This hotel needs to work out those issues to be truly competitive.
This hotel was very clean and in a great location. The staff was nothing but amazing. Very friendly and catering to its guests. Check in and out was a breeze. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.
Great hotel in a small town. Friendly and knowledgeable staff when I checked in. There is also a pool and free complimentary breakfast. Rooms are very spacious and clean and I love how they provide an abundance of pillows. There was also two different kinds of pillows and I wish other hotels would take note. There is a pool, and well stocked vending machines. Great place to stay and I highly recommend!
The staff who greeted us was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. There was nice surroundings to go for a walk. It was very quiet. Room was clean and enjoyed the pool view. It was relaxing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the fresh air.
We have stayed here before while visiting friends and it has always been a great experience. We appreciate it being consistently good and easy to deal with. All of the staff that we have worked with were kind and helpful. And this time it was well over 100 degrees out and when we came in the room the AC was perfect and that is a huge plus.
Extremely friendly clean rooms good morning breakfast. I did not have a pet but they were pet friendly. Very nice being away from home and petting someone dog in the morning . Highly recommend this hotel
Wonderful staff, clean & safe. I would definitely recommend this hotel! The staff at the front desk was great. The room was basic, but very clean and comfortable. It was quiet at night for sleeping. The breakfast was nice, with enough options for everyone.
I travel frequently and stay at this Best Western anytime I'm in Sonora. I like staying in the woods rooms. It quiet in that area and the view from the patio is very nice. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are always clean and have never had any issues with something not working properly. I like the selection of cable channels and am always greeted like I'm an important guest due to my rewards status.
We had high hopes for this hotel based on its reviews. Check in was painless although took a little longer than we might have hoped. Our room was directly next to the lobby accessed via an external staircase - although sections of the hotel use internal corridors these are all accessed externally themselves through doors that never seem to be closed, so the hotel is effectively all external corridors. The room itself was very clean and modern. However, we had paid extra for a pool view room and from our location this was a bit of stretch. After about 15 minutes in the room we felt the floor physically begin to shake in quite an uncomfortable way. After calling reception we were told this was because we were directly above the laundry room and that this would resume from 9 am the following morning. As we were out both days we were there this didn't bother us much but would have been a pain if we had planned to sleep in. We also faced a specific but nonetheless annoying issue with charging points. The modern room layout had embedded all of the charging points (except in the bathroom) in the light fixtures. This meant that fitting a larger, old fashioned plug was impossible because it bumped against the lamp stand. This made charging larger devices e.g. laptops very difficult. The pool area was well maintained and we had a pleasant time there but was nothing special. The breakfast offering on both mornings was unappealing and so both times we looked elsewhere. In general we had an alright stay but were left feeling relatively underwhelmed.
I am a travel agent and travel to Sonora several times a year. I have stayed at many Sonora Hotels but found this property to be the best in the entire region. The room was clean and had both a microwave and a refrigerator plus the included breakfast had a huge selection of breads, proteins and juices. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. This is my go-to hotel for the foreseeable future.
Great location great service at the desk nice pool beds are very confortable the breakfast is good but the burritos could use some salsa they're a little dry they will only clean and do your bed only on request so I find that awesome
Our room was available early. This was a birthday night from my husband. It was peaceful. I wished we could havecstayed longer to enjoy the amenities and our amazing room. The breakfast was actually a full breakfast. No grab n go. The ladies who worked in the Fireside were super sweet
VERY HOTT IN LOBBY AND HALL WAY AND MY A/C IN ROOM DIDNT FUCTION PROPERLY AND I WAS OFFERED ANOTHER ROOM BECAUSE THEY WERE FULL SO WE ENDED UP TOSSING AND TURNING ALL NIGHT....REALLY DISAPOINTED... INDOOR POOL WAS NICE AS WELL AS BREAKFAST. MAIDS ARE REALLY KIND AND HELPFULL. ID RECOMMED THIS HOTE Rooms were nice. Maids were really friendly and helpful. A/C in room didn't work properly and i was really disappointed when i wasn't offered money back or different room because it was very hot outside we tossed and turned all not uncomfortable . Indoor pool was awesome but very hot in lobby and hall ways. All and All great hotel despite the a/c prob.
Beautiful location and view. Clean rooms. Office staff welcoming, kind and helpful. Great breakfast with a variety of food choices. Service given upon request. Elevator broken, cold spa and breakfast lady rude.
Stayed in a King room with a balcony overlooking the woods. Just off the highway as you head up the hill. Nice and quiet area away from downtown Sonora yet only minutes away from shopping downtown. Nice location.
Everything about our recent stay was perfect from making our reservations, checking in to checking out. Relaxing and peaceful surroundings. Customer service, front desk, maid service, buffet breakfast is what you expect when traveling and we received all of that. Once you stay at Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel & Conference Center, you will definitely want to come back.
Treated like idiots after reporting couldn't wash due to broken shower tap. Had to dress and walk outside to report since phone also broken! Had to check out and afterwards advised by GM that both had been working all along. We must be idiots.
I stayed here with my wife on a recent trip (April 2022) on a trip to Yosemite and Gold Country on Highway 49. The hotel is reasonably convenient to Yosemite and very convenient if you are going to Columbia State Park. The hotel was nice, the room was large and the grounds are very nice. The breakfast was nice and it was located by the swimming pool, so you could eat outside if you wished.
Lovely place to stay central location for our travels. A little dated, but quiet and great front desk. Clean with breakfast included:) Easy on and off access. Close too all amenities and Black Oak Casino.
Beautiful setting, nice refurbished room, quiet, good hot breakfast included. If ever needing to visit Sonora or nearby area, will definitely stay here again. Came for a memorial service but have lots of family in the area and good reason to return for visiting family.
Stayed at the Sonora location. Staff was friendly and helpful with any questions I had. The room I had stayed in was clean. the bed was comfy and the location was quiet. I enjoy my stay, would recommend for the price.
Way overpriced. Breakfast ends at 9.00 AM even on a holiday (presidential weekend). No extra blankets in the room and no housekeeping to deliver to you. Room was clean. Location convenient. May not stay again.
Always have been a fan of the best western hotels. Some more pricey than others . Some have one thing when another does not so you don't know what to expect. This time they seemed in a hurry wasn't very friendly and they charged me different price then what my reservation was. Not very professional .
We paid $200 a night.. seemed very steep for the lack of any luxury items (bedding, basic and minimal, fridge leaked water all over our food, outdated furnishings and decor) and fold out bed was terribly uncomfortable
If you're looking for a place to relax, forget the hustle bustle of downtown Sonora. only about three and a half miles up the road in East Sonora lies The Best Western Plus. This hotel has almost every amenity you can ask for.. they have a pool a spa a fitness center and even are in the process of building an elevator. Whether you're traveling alone with your partner, friends or pet this time in the foothills at this hotel will be one you won't forget. After all it is the best inn town!!
we were quoted 143 per night with aaa. we were charged 161 plus taxes. my fault because i did not review charges before we left. mind you, we had stayed in 12 hotels on our trip before here and never had an issur
We loved our room with a fireplace and jet tub! We were there for a short getaway for R&R and it was perfect! The view from our patio was beautiful, it was a quiet property, and very clean. We will definitely be back.
The setting and walkways of this motel are lovely. The location is set off the main road so it stays quiet. The reception personnel were all very courteous, friendly, and professional. The rooms are nice and spacious. Definitely recommend.
Staff was friendly enough. My card key did not open my door, password for Internet did not work . the icemaker was broken. Walking to breakfast there was a crack pipe on the sidewalk. !!!! And it looked like the homeless were taking advantage of the free food. Grounds were dirty.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean rooms. Our room had a balcony option, which was nice. Great breakfast options. All around a great experience. Price was perfect. Easy highway access and close to town for shopping options. Was like being at home.
I got this room for my boyfriend for his birthday and when we first walked in we were instantly happy. The bathroom was roomy and the shower was amazing. The beds were comfy and the mini fridge was big.
The bed you can feel the springs and we got the deluxe king for $200. Not worth it. The pool was also closed and it was 102 degrees. The rooms where very small for a deluxe king. And you shared a porch with your neighbors which was not in the pics. Was not very private
This place was fine. It looks a little fancier than it is in the photos due to the entrance, but it really is just a large motel. The rooms are not modern, but are large and clean. Breakfast was simple due to COVID but it looks like they sometimes do something more elaborate.
Pool closed our entire stay during 100 degree heat. The only reason I booked this hotel in late July for a family trip to Gold country- was because it had a decent looking pool. I called two days prior and was assured there were no pool restrictions and pool was totally open. Upon check on, I was told where the pool was on the property and the hours. Minutes later we go to to use the pool and it's closed due to some type of “treatment.” Same thing the next day. I told the front desk that they have to warn people if this comes up when customers make the reservation or upon check in. Also no housekeeping during your stay. Some of the pros of this hotel: free (basic) breakfast with friendly, helpful service from the ladies working in the breakfast room. Also plenty of parking.
This is a cute spot to stay. Close to stores and food. Only down side was the breakfast in the mornings. They didn't have much selection and we're out of quite a few things. Ended up eating out. But the rooms were clean and staff was friendly. I would stay there again.
A very friendly and helpful staff made this stay very positive. Breakfast included, Clean rooms and grounds, all staff great. Convenient to lots of locations and sights in the area. Rooms are showing their age a little but clean, soft towels, A/C a little loud. Very quiet surroundings and great internet service.
Stayed 2 nights. The front desk staff & phone staff I spoke to prior to arrival were super helpful & nice. Pool was clean & there was an area by the pool where we could play games outside. Rooms/hotel are a bit dated. Breakfast was good - still not able to eat inside, but the food was good & the hostess was able to make personalized breakfast burritos & McMuffin sandwiches for us. I would stay here again
The location is awesome! The hotel personnel are totally amazing! This is one of the best locations we have had the privilege of staying at! We will definitely return to this hotel for all our visits to this amazing location!
Checked in at 2:30 pm after a long drive in a heat wave and loved the nice clean cool room. Headed to the pool and felt so much better. All the staff members I encountered were nice and helpful and the free breakfast was just fine. Just wish there was an onsite restaurant or one to walk to.
The Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel accepted dogs, and features a very nice walkway and play area for your canine friends. Overall, the hotel is definitely on the older side but the room we were in (King Suite) was very large. The staff were very helpful and accommodating as well, and the breakfast featured a variety of food choices.
The checkin process was so quick and easy as well as the express checkout option. Room was fine--clean and clearly disinfected. Perfect for a quick trip to see friends and family. It is not walking distance to downtown Sonora, but that was a quick jaunt away.
Decided to stay at this BWP to get away after being hospitalized with covid pneumonia in January. This was my first time out of the house in 2 months. It was a disappointment. The walls were paper thin, we could hear the guests in the room next to us whisper, and fart (not joking). The bed was as hard a a rock. But I know those things can't exactly be helped by the staff. But the cleanliness was not acceptable. The first thing I noticed in the room was a used q-tip next to the tv on the floor, the more I looked, I could tell the floor hadn't been cleaned or vacuumed. I never go barefoot, and we checked in late, so, I wasn't going to call the front desk. It wasn't until the morning when we turned the lights on that we noticed the smeared mirrors, the dust on the coffee pot, the hair in the shower, the moldy shower head. But ultimately it was the white bodily fluid left on the bathroom floor that grossed me out the most. We DID address this at check out and management apologized and offered us BW points (equal to a free night). I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they will address the issue with housekeeping. I'm reluctant to stay there again. There didn't seem to be much PLUS about this property. We travel a lot (Platinum members), and stay exclusively at Best Western hotels because they have a standard. The BW Sure Stay properties, the lowest standard of Best Westerns, have been cleaner and more comfortable of a stay. This property seems to have semi-rennovated rooms. But the uncomfortable bed, paper thin walls, and terrible cleanliness will probably make me avoid staying here again. I'm sorry to say. All the staff seemed nice and helpful. And they did still offer grab and go breakfast. So I will say that as a positive. I hope for their sake that changes are made. They deserve to have good reviews and for people to come back to their hotel.
The rooms were very clean, nice and helpful staff. It's a little higher price but worth it compared to other hotels in Sonora. The hotel is not too far from downtown Sonora as well as places to eat and shop!
I stayed there with my family. We stay at this hotel everytime we come up to this area. Friendly staff, always clean, rooms are great and the beds are comfy. They are pet friendly which is nice because we have 2 dogs and they go above and beyond to make sure your satisfied. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
This is our 2nd time staying at this location, its pet friendly and we love that they have so much room to walk your pets on the premises. The close proximity to Dodge Ridge Ski resort is another reason we picked this location. My son and I went skiing so my hubby stayed with the dogs and had plenty of space to take our dogs for walks. Staff is nice and breakfast food options are still great even with the restrictions. They were clean and staff as well as the customers all wore masks in public areas making us feel safe. Thank you!
We stayed at this hotel for a night, on our way north. For $175 a night you'd expect something better. The room was very smelly, not sure why. There was a bad odor. The heating system made a horrible noise every 5 min, it was hard to sleep. The bathtub faucet was broken, popped right out when my daughter was taking a shower. I had to push it back in and fix it. When I called for a few shampoos they asked me to come to the front desk and take it myself. We're not coming back to this place...
This hotel is musky and smells. Most guests not wearing masks...FYI for those who care. Bathroom/toilet was not cleaned properly and floor had hair and debris all over. SO GROSS!!There is a serious HVAC issue. I could not breath with heater on. All the fixtures had piles of dust and probably haven't been wiped. This is unacceptable for the price $180.00 and especially during COVID. Super unfortunate for us on our Valentines get away.
We stayed at the Best Western in Sonora because a family member was in the hospital having surgery. We didn't know the exact date our family member would be released from the hospital, so we had to extend our stay a couple of times. The front desk employees were very accommodating and eased some of our stress. The room: Our room was roomy and clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room had a sofa sleeper. The pillows were fluffy and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the towels were nice and absorbent. The breakfast: The breakfast area was a take-and-go breakfast. The breakfast items were well stocked: bagels, muffins, granola bars, breakfast burritos, breakfast English Muffins, yogurt, milk, orange juice, water, cereal. The employees were very friendly and helpful.
This was the worst hotel we could have picked. No lighting in the bathroom. No help from the desk. Jacuzzi tub plug wouldn't hold water. Worst hotel. No help. Still waiting on a call from the manager.
There was no hot water do you shower or bathe upon check out Called the front desk they suggested I leave the water running Needless to say it never heated up Also a rooster crows right outside the window starting at 3:30 AM
The staff was friendly. The hotel was safe and well lit. I was able to get breakfast after working graveyard shift. When I need to extend my stay for work purposes, they were very helpful. The room was nice sized. The TV was perfect to watch before I went to sleep every morning
Our stay was excellent! From the greeting to the check out. Very professional and friendly staff! I highly recomment this hotel. Breakfast was great! The location is nice. We had a very nice view from our room. Our only problem was lack of internet the last night.
I stayed one night at the Best Western in Sonora, after checking out of a dump in Twain Harte. I was so happy to be in a clean room at the Best Western--with a WORKING TOILET and a shower with good water pressure, unlike the dump in Twain Harte. The room's decor was inviting, and it was super clean. I had a view of the pool and grass, plus a little patio with a small table and two chairs--just perfect for a single traveler. I felt safe, and it was so quiet. The best part, though, was Miska at the front desk. She was so cheerful, friendly, warm, and gracious. She made me feel welcome, special, and valued. I was even lucky enough to meet the hotel's kitty, Miss Gray, as I checked out. I will definitely stay at this hotel again!
My daughter and I spent four nights at the Sonora Best Western and felt very safe and comfortable. They were mindful of COVID precautions and made everything super easy. Every member of the staff that we encountered was friendly and hospitable.
My stay was great the staff was always helpful ESPECIALLY the front desk clerks. Im a travel nurse i live in hotels i alot . But I really enjoyed my stay with Best Western Sonora. Looking forward to coming back out real soon.
A family member had broken their leg earlier in the day. The staff at the Sonora Oaks Best Western went out of their way to try to assist her while other family members rushed to her assistance from 6 hours away. The following morning we were treated like kings and queens with bag breakfasts that we took back to our rooms (because of the Covid-19 pandemic they are not allowing guests to eat in the food area).
Picked this area for a quick COVID getaway because it is fairly remote and the county had acceptable COVID-19 case numbers. I won't say much about the facilities because you can determine that from the pics and other reviews. Suffice to say the rooms are very nice and quite comfortable, appropriate for a Best Western Plus. My review is mostly to compliment the staff. COVID-19 precautions were abundant - closing the pool area every 2 hours for cleaning. Limiting the number of people in the pool area at any given time. The free breakfast has been replaced by a free "bag" breakfast with plenty of food and a variety of options. Kudos to the sweet lady running the breakfast operation. Especially want to compliment the kind front desk staff. Like an idiot, I left a jacket behind in the closet and didn't realize it until I was about 2 hours away. The front desk was super helpful and one employee dropped it off at UPS on her way home, after work. Excellent staff and a very nice hotel in a beautiful setting. Will definitely stay here again. Great job, and thank you!
The hotel is clean, well maintained with friendly and hospitable staff. Grab and go breakfast is delicious with egg sausage burrito, bacon egg mc muffins, cereals, fruits, yogurt, coffee, milk, water and granola bars. We feel safe and observe that their doing everything to stop spread of Covid 19. Sanitizer in the entrance, observe physical distance and very clean. Comfortable bed and quiet environment. I like the view from the patio. Located about a mile from restaurants and TJ Max. We enjoyed our 2 nights stay while visiting Yosemite. This hotel is about 1 hour from Yosemite Big Oak Flat entrance.
We had a very nice stay at this hotel. It was extremely clean and comfortable. We stayed at a different hotel the first night and it was so below standard we had to leave. Came to the Best Western Plus and felt so extremely relieved. Staff was excellent and the room was very nice!
Everything was great. The room was clean, restroom was clean as well. The front desk workers were great help and friendly. We just happened to be passing through the city and needed a place to stay and the were on it right away. Thank you for all you help. We will be coming back for another stay. Keep up the good work.
No staff members to oversee maintenance and safety of the pool, even when notified by guests about unsafe conditions. Social distancing not maintained. Too many large teenagers (approx. 25) doing multiple cannonballs at the same time into the pool causing the pool pump to break . The pool was closed which ruined the fun for all other guests.
Nice location, clean spacious room, well maintained grounds. Continental style plus breakfast included with room. Large area with many breakfast options. Cable and Wifi included. Lots of parking and many rooms to choose from.
Check-in Gal was sweet as can be. Offered recommendations on dining in the area. The property itself is dated and desperately needs upgrades. Carpet in hallways filthy, walls with marks all over them. Feels like you are driving up to a 1980's motel.
It was close to a lot of places. 15min from 2 locations I needed to be close to. Clean rooms. Beds a are a bit firm but that's just my own personal preference. I still slept well. Breakfast was very good. And the staff were all helpful and very friendly. I recommend.
Room was nice size very comfortable, King with Pull out sofa. Nice Breakfast selection. Very close to Black Oak Casino. Staff very friendly and helpful as well. Definitely will return in the future and will stay here.
Friendly staff, clean room, awesome comfy bed. We really enjoyed our stay. We had a 2 room suite and it really exceeded our expectations. We were very please with the room and we were close to parking. We will come back for future trips
If your looking for a rest stop while traveling in the 49er Gold country. This motel is off the busy road. Quiet woody area and close to shopping area. Our family live here in Sonora so we come here often. It is more like home.
We stayed on one of the King + sofa bed, non-smoking rooms, and it was clean and very spacious. The bed could have been more comfortable but overall we were very pleased. Hot breakfast was very complete, included scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, waffles, cereal, yogurt, and pancakes. Much better breakfast than most hotels.
This place is the best value for your dollar. Not too expensive, the staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly, and the hot breakfast is definitely a bonus. Would stay at this location again if I was in the area.
My husband and I stay at Best Western Plus hotel's all the time. This has to be the finest Best Western Plus we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The hotel staff are so friendly and were always prompt with anything our family required...from more towels to directions to just friendly chit chat. A shout out to Miss Kate and Miss Mishka at the front desk. Miss Stella in the Continental Beaskfast room.....what to say.....she is just a beautiful person. She made everyone feel so welcome, bringing our grandchildren fresh bacon and waffles straight from the kitchen to our table using a great big tong. She was just precious; it felt as if we were visiting Grandma's house....she greeted everyone who walked through the door with a huge smile and a happy greeting. Then she worked the room the entire time we were in there bringing more food out and visiting with each table. She made everyone feel special. The food was delicious and so bountiful; each serving dish always filled with new fresh food. This was just something we have never before witnessed at a Continental Breakfast room, and we have stayed at many hotels with this amenity. So shout outs to Miss Stella, Miss Coleen, and Miss Kathy in the Breakfast nook. Also a shout out to Mr. David who was so friendly and helpful with several requests we had; and he so pleasant in answering all our questions about Sonora. The hotel room itself was super clean, the showers had perfect water temperature and pressure, I did not want to get out of that shower, nor did any of our family. Honestly I have NEVER uttered those words about any hotel shower!!!! Not even pricey 5 star hotels which we have stayed at. Loved the way the hotel grounds and building were situated, it made it fun for the grandchildren at night to walk the different pathways and inside buildings to get to the lobby for our late night hot cocoa, coffee or tea. We stayed in room 134 which was a suite and we literally had to walk just 25 steps, in the good morning time, to reach the Breakfast Room. I could go on bragging about this hotel forever, but take a ride to Sonora yourself and stay at this Best Western Plus, you will not be disappointed I promise you. Location is everything and this hotel is 10 to 15 minutes from anything you need. Thank you BW Staff for making our Thanksgiving adventure a very special time. We will be back!!
The Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel & Conference Center was perfect place for us to stay in the area. Convenient to where we were getting together with extended family of choice and an excellent shelter during late November snow storm in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Customer Service is excellent, staff is very friendly. Nice and quiet. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Staff is very accommodating. Stay every other week, staff always welcomes me back with a smile.
We stay at this hotel every time we are in the area visiting family and spending summer days at Pinecrest Lake. The staff is always helpful and accommodating. It's nice to put in a request for our whole family to be near each other and they always do their best to get us right next to each other or at least very close. The rooms are nice, we love the poolside rooms with the patio area right out the back door. We travel with our dog and upon arrival we were given a dog bowl, chew toy, waste bags, and dog treats. It was a wonderful surprise. Breakfast was wonderful as always. A great mix of pastries and hot foods.
We had reserved the King suite..A beautiful suite, with a jacuzi tub, fireplace, nice couch and desk area. The patio looks out at the trees..very pretty in Fall. The breakfast wa excellent. We liked being able to check in at 3pm and check out at 11am. Located in the sweet Sierras, lots to go and do. We will be back..
I sent an email after speaking with the 2 front desk attendants on not getting the room we Specifically booked. The front desk excuse was “oh the girl who booked your room is new” My kids recently lost their father and I knew a mini getaway would be good. Turned out my son made it to subsectionals for cross country and used the opportunity to do a small getaway. I called and spoke with Shelby and requested the fireplace suite with the jacuzzi tub. She told me it was booked and gave me the price of 169.00. (Without taxes etc) I checked in and got my key upon arrival. Went upstairs and we didn't get any of that in the room. I made a call downstairs and they said. Oh she's new. We don't have that available. I said well she booked it for me and this is why I came here. Dead silence. So I said umm ok. I went downstairs and spoke with Mary and she reiterated what she said on the phone. I explained the reason for the trip. Nothing. None of those rooms are available now. What. Ugh. So back up I went. I am a frequent traveler for work. I have run into maybe one or two times this has happened at Holiday inn and Marriott. I can tell you they went out of their way to remedy the problem THEY MADE. This didn't happen here. I haven't heard back from management. Haven't got a call or email back on the disappointment my kids had. Pretty sad.
This location is out in the foothills of California, Gold Rush Country.. But so close to a grocery store and other fast food restaurants. We were able to find what we needed for the next day and continue our exploration of Highway 49. Worth the visit.
Nice and quiet location and friendly staff at check-in. There was construction going on during my visit but did not cause any issues. I would ask for top floor so beer drinkers with white trucks is not a noise issue. Had to call to get receipt rather than emailing automatically like other hotel brands.
Very nice hotel near Yosemite. Best priced for type accommodations we wanted. Very clean, nice pool area and a warm jacuzzi! Beds very comfortable and lots of good pillows. Good breakfast with friendly service. Nice patio areas. We would return and recommend this hotel
Beware of the woman checking in at the front desk. She does not care about the guests should you come across any problem. She is very condenscending and unaccomodating. She should find another job that is NOT in hospitality.
Nice hotel for a stop over in between You really cannot find anywhere to stay after visiting Yosemite unless you are a camper So we stay one night here before heading to Sacramento Clean, spacious and nice location It is quite pricey because you don't have options around but still a very good choice! Highly recommend!!!
The Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel is a very nice property. It is spread out with adequate parking. The grounds are natural oaks with a part-time creek running through the property. Our room had a little patio that looked on the creek and was shaded by the oaks. It is very low key with great staff that are really helpful. The breakfast was a good meal.
Allowing early check in when it is extremely hot weather, lobby had no restrooms had to drive to mcdonalds which was wrong. Also the outside nature sitting areas from our room had many cigarette butts on the ground. They need to go through their outside grounds pick up the butts and perhaps provide cigarette butts trash placement containers as it is a fire hazard as well. I realize it isn't the hotels fault but make it better for smokers to smoke and discard there cigarette ashes & butts. Usually hotels have pamphlets information in the surrounding areas to do and area maps there was none in the lobby which I found odd , no promoting local area events and recreation. It would of help in finding things to do.. Not everyone looks up on their phones.
We stayed here for one night, prior to visiting Yosemite. We were really looking forward to a quality hotel with some good facilities after a long drive. Can't fault the room which was huge, clean and comfortable - hence the 3/5, rather than 2/5. However, the pool area was really disappointing - and definitely not restful! Perfect if you are travelling with lots of young children and want somewhere for them to be able to let off steam...not so good for solo travellers or couples :-) My husband also used the gym, and was surprised and rather irritated that another guest had dragged his 3 very young children along to the gym with him - they were not well-behaved (not surprisingly - I expect they were rather bored) and he felt it was actually quite dangerous. Reception staff didn't give the best impression - they appeared to be more interested in taking their breaks/speaking on cell phone, rather than attending to long queues of guests at busy times. Also didn't appreciate receptionist chewing gum whilst speaking to us. Breakfast was adequate, made better by the helpful staff. Overall, a rather disappointing stay for us; we travelled throughout California for 12 days, staying in a number of different hotels and this was our worst experience. However, if your stay at this hotel is for a different purpose, you may have a more positive experience.
I found the staff to be incredibly friendly but my favorite encounter was the Greek grandmotherly type who took care of the breakfast room. She was both friendly and attentive. I don't know her name because I didn't want to stare at the tiny writing on her nametag on her breast. Seriously, what's the point of a nametag?
I was booked into this property by my employer. I spend 365 days a year in hotels for my job. Me and another guy were booked here but registered an hour apart. I was told I needed to give a $100 damage deposit. I handed her a credit card. She told me that it didn't have a chip so I must pay cash. I handed over a $100 bill and asked for a receipt. I was told that "We have cameras for that. We make a movie here every day." I received no receipt. When my coworker checked in (booked also by our employer) he was not asked to provide a credit card nor cash for a deposit. I'm interested in seeing if I will get my cash deposit back. I will refuse to stay here again. Not a modern room- bring a powerstrip if you have a computer and chargers. No USB outlets like most hotels we are booked into. T
Staff treated us poorly upon arrival. We were given a room with the only window looking out at the parking lot, near the noisey front office door. Head lights shined in our room constantly. The guest printer did not work and staff didn't know how to fix it. Two yrs ago the restaurant & bar closed down; it is still closed. There is a plastic tarp over part of the hotel roof. Cardboard boxes were 10 feet high outdoors against the building, (a fire hazard). There is a 6' x 4' hole in the parking lot near the guests' sidewalk surrounded by orange construction netting. It was there 2 yrs ago; still is. The Yosemite bus line parks their buses there when waiting to start their shift. They kept the motors running outside our room at 6AM each morning. I did not see anyone get on the buses so don't think they were present for lodgers on tour.Seems the hotel caters largely to highway construction crews who came in at all hours in their large trucks and left early in the morning, equally as noisy. The breakfast was the typical pre-prepared institutional eggs and meat left in a warming tray. The first morning the attendant sat outside on her cell phone and did not take care of guests. When we left she was holding her head in her hands. The pavement around the breakfast area was filthy from multiple old food spills. All in all a very unpleasant experience. Won't go back in spite of the fact I have gone there for six years.
Excellent place to stay top to bottom,I would stay anytime. The front desk help is top anywhere I have ever stayed would recommend to anyone, breakfast is great and amnemetieis are good, front desk are top notch polite and professional.
5 minute drive to Black Oak Casino & West Side Pavilion Quiet Rooms & Good buffet breakfast Right off the freeway but far enough so it's still quiet. Clean rooms & comfortable beds. No complaints at all.
Better than average lodging, great full breakfast (much more than other "free breakfast" places) and beautiful location. The town is charming. Short drive to caverns, sequoia forests, rovers. Gorgeous area. About an hour from Yosemite.
We have had a great experience for 3 nights in late July. Our room was great, the front desk staff was helpful and we'll be back. We have to call out Linda who runs the breakfast program... she's amazing! We were so impressed with her ability to multi task and handle the breakfast crowd but always kept a smile. Love her!!
In a world where "accessible" means a hotel has installed a few bars on the walls, it was refreshing to stay in a room with a roll-in shower. The room has some extra girth, and there were no panels beneath the bed (a Hoyer Lift could be used for transfers to bed). The only eye-roll moment was when I realized the blue-placard parking spot was on the opposite end of the building from the hotel room.
Great location right off of the 108. Easy check in, easy check out. Rooms were nice and clean. The AC was on so our room was nice and cool.... I really appreciated that! We spent some time in the pool and spa. Both were enjoyable and the area was clean. We had to get our towels from the office which was awkward walking around in our swim suits but that wasn't too big of a deal. The rooms were very quiet. They have breakfast included. The food selection was good but not what was advertised- no self made waffles or oatmeal. I still enjoyed it and was happy they offered it. I would say my only real negative comment was the layout of the dining room for breakfast. It was awkward and crowded. I still enjoyed my complimentary breakfast and would go back again.
Excellent breakfast buffet and grounds. When I had to cancel the next night, there was NO PROBLEM, no charge. Just before this hotel, another had charged me FULL PRICE, but here, no problem. Nice and helpful staff at front desk
We have stayed in this hotel three (3) times this year and at each of our stay, we found the staff highly trained and professional. Very courteous and caring. We did not have a reservation for our last stay at the hotel but the attending staff went out of her way - in between attending to other customers - to make sure we had room to stay. Honestly, my words are woefully inadequate to express our heartfelt gratitude. Another reason for anyone to patronize this incredible hotel. Well trained staff, clean and spacious rooms and of course, a delightful breakfast with various choices.
Sort of regret not booking in Sonora town- which is lovely and although unlink if I was back I would do this. This hotel is unremarkable but basic and relatively ok - nice size rooms and comfortable beds. Can't walk to any restaurants do you have to drive but make the effort to eat in Sonora much much nicer than the dreaded chains on the side of the highways.
Be prepared to have rooms on separate floors even if you booked them on one reservation. Rooms are clean but smell a little funny. Bathrooms are better than other 3 star motels. Not overly pleased with the stay.
Despite this being a "Plus", it was a disappointing experience. We have stayed here on other occasions. Good location and front desk staff very nice. However, our room was on the second floor, and since there are no elevators, we had to lug our luggage up a good flight of stairs. Room was average although clean & comfortable. They also had no guest laundry, so we had to go out to a public laundromat. The breakfast was very good and the Fireside Room was very comfortable.
The hotel, as such, is a regular best western. Clean, good rooms and a regular breakfast. But it is an excellent location for visiting the gold rush cities (Sonora, Jamestown and Columbia) and, although some miles away, Yosemite park.
The attendants in the breakfast room were quite nice and very attentive. I enjoyed the clean room but the hallways needed vacuuming. Parking is more than adequate. the major drawback during the summer was a two day minimum for a weekend.
Extremely clean room and comfortable beds. Nice breakfast in the morning. Overall great stay! We came for a concert at Black Oak Casino with three other couples. All had great rooms and a great experience with the staff.
VERY clean, spacious and quiet hotel with beautiful patios including a table and chairs. Located a bit out of town, right next to the highway for easy access (but NO traffic sounds!) Front office staff very nice. Breakfast was the usual uninspiring carb-loaded choices and fake scrambled eggs. Aside from that, I highly recommend this hotel.
This property definitely should NOT be classified as a "Plus". The website doesn't mention (or, if so, it's well hidden) that there's no elevator to the second floor. Not a plus for anyone over 60. Other problems (in no particular order) that made this experience so disappointing included the lack of security - exterior doors on both floors were always wide open. The ice machine was on the first floor AND on the outside of the building. The hydraulics on the "inexpensive/cheap" office chair didn't work. The bathroom door squeaked. The AC was very loud and had to be turned down to 65 degrees to engage. Water bottles and Cokes placed in the refrigerator overnight were completely frozen.
After a long hot arduous journey it was getting late and I decided to pick a hotel in the Sonora area to have dinner, shower and get a restful sleep. The best choice was the Best Western Sonora an older but completely remolded and updated motel just off the 108. Upon entering the lobby and attempting to check in, there were issues beyond the hotel's normal procedures that needed to be resolved before finalizing the check in. The front desk associate by the name Sooner offered to take complete charge of every issue and solve each problem while I went to dinner; to the extent of recommending a restaurant and supplying a menu from the recommended restaurant. Sooner was the only person on duty that evening covering the entire motel and while I was gone for dinner she diligently worked on and completely solved every issue by the time I returned, making my check in seamless. The professionalism Sooner demonstrated that evening went beyond the normal workload of any motel front desk associate I have ever registered in and I'm deeply indebted to her devotion to the job; Sooner is definitely upper management material
Sometimes BW can be all over the board with the quality of the accommodations, this property never disappoints, convenient to Pinecrest Lake as well as Yosemite Park and minutes away from historic downtown Sonora. The bonus is the rooms are remodeled on top of everything.
I've stayed here a few times in the past while visiting family in the area. This most recent visit was a mixed bag, but overall it's still probably one of the nicer places to stay in Sonora. The staff were all very friendly and it's conveniently located. Also a plus for tourists is that the Yosemite bus picks up directly at the hotel. Free newspapers and internet, pleasant and well-maintained pool/hot tub area. Mini-fridge and microwave in the room were great to have. The cafe next door that used to serve breakfast has closed and been replaced with a fairly standard breakfast buffet with hot & cold offerings as well as 'grab-and-go' items. Nothing amazing, but the people working there were nice and kept things well-stocked and organized. Downsides: Every morning there were multiple empty cases of beer and pizza boxes at at all the trash cans, which didn't look very classy. I believe this is due to the many contractors who are staying at the hotel long-term (they also almost completely filled the parking lot every night with large trucks which meant I could never park near my room). While it was generally quiet at night, the trash cans should probably be cleaned up more regularly. There were also a lot of room doors ajar in the evenings, which made me a bit uncomfortable, especially as all rooms are on exterior hallways (even the 'interior' ones are not really closed off to the outside). The pile of old hotel furniture sitting in the parking lot also detracted from the looks of the property. My room itself was large but felt a bit tired overall and the heating/AC unit was so incredibly loud that we finally had to just turn it off in order to sleep. For the price charged, I felt it could have been better. Certain facilities are nice, others need upgrading so it just feels inconsistent and the design is definitely not 'stylish and modern' as claimed on the BW Plus brand guidelines. That being said, hopefully the work being done will bring this place up to speed to match the friendly staff and great location.
Starting with a cooperative front-desk staff, we had a great experience. The rooms are updated, clean, spacious, and the beds were very comfy. The place was also very quiet. The morning breakfast was good and a nice variety for our entire family.
Was very very nice time there....the older woman tending the breakfast was so pleasant....wish she lived in our neighborhood. Sort of wish the TV and remote was a bit more streamlined, but there was a good (overwhelming) selection. All was better than good and we look forward to our next stay there.
We stayed for a night while visiting the area. The hotel/motel was what you'd expect from the chain with some notes: the bathroom was not clean and I had to scrub the tub before I could bathe my child. And the heater, which thankfully worked, was so loud it woke us up several times during the night; and the WiFi was spotty. On the plus side, the breakfast was plentiful with something for everyone.
We were very impressed with the efficiency of the staff, the cleanliness of the room and the complimentary breakfast was great. We arrived early and had some time to spend before our room was ready and staff was very helpful with suggestions on what to see in the area.
Pet friendly! Very clean! Very comfy beds! Very affordable! Beautiful location! Close to all kinds of things to do. And a very good breakfast also with lots of things to choose from. Loved the pool and hot tub!!
Yes it's old and dated (BW, get rid of that sad, ugly dark beige pait!). However everything in this area is also old. Getting past that, I would stay here again. The bedding appears new and beds comfortable. Towels were soft. Wireless worked well. Room was clean. The people were very cordial both at checkin and checkout . And the breakfast was above and beyond for a hotel freebie...hot plentiful and clean. Not a bad deal if you factor that in.
Having made a reservation at this hotel for that evening we entered Yosemite Valley. After 45 minutes the weather changed to rain making the roads slippery and we were unable to make the drive to Sonora. Attempted to call but did not have cell service, once we got service I called the hotel to notify them. They said because it was after 5:00 PM they were going to charge my credit card anyway. Asked to speak to a manager but they were not available. Requested that they call me back, one week later I'm still waiting for the call. Attempted to contact the company that owns the hotel but all I get is voice mail with all mailboxes full. In my opinion they are only interested in taking your money whether they provide a service or not!
Our room was in the east wing, separate from the main building, and was very quiet at night. A bit of a walk to the breakfast room, but enough places to park near it if you didn't wash to walk. Clean, comfortable room, and we could see that work was being done to upgrade other rooms in the main building. Easy access from the highway.
This is the second Best Western hotel I have stayed at this year and have not been impressed by this chain. This particular one is outdated - stuck in the 1980s but charging as if it's modern. Even so, if the room was clean, I wouldn't mind the old decor. The bathroom had the most cleanliness issues. There were a few ants crawling around the sink and showers. The shower curtain had a whole lot of mildew buildup on the bottom. Then the supposedly clean towels had a wad of hair stuck in one of them. The toilet got easily clogged. I noticed the ants at night but didn't report it since there just a few that I squashed. Then in the morning of checkout is when I noticed all the other things and more ants. The beds were comfortable enough. The front desk service was very friendly for check-in.
Quiet, overpriced, convenient. For the cost, it wasn't nice enough. Breakfast was bland. Convenient for the ski bus. But seriously overpriced. Hot tub wasn't got enough. Quiet rooms. A bit dated. Really it's the price that lowers this rating.
Went for a mini vacay to Dodge Ridge with the family. We didn't want to deal with driving; so we took the Dodge Ridge shuttle. They conveniently pick up right in front of the hotel for $10 a person. The hotel was extremely clean and fesh; since everything in the room was recently remodelled and replaced. The breakfast was filling and delicious. I highly recommended this hotel. We will definitely be back soon!
I stayed here for 3 nights with my husband and 12 year old twins, and was expecting it to be nicer since it got such good reviews here. We have stayed at other Best Western Plus properties, and they have been nicer. Pros: Just off the highway but quiet, and not a long drive to downtown/Old a Town Sonora. All of the staff was professional and friendly including the front desk, and cleaning staff. The women who ran the breakfast room is especially lovely. It is well insulated, which was good because for some reason the hallway door leading to the internal corridors was propped open all of the time even though it was the middle of winter. The hot tub and pool were open even in winter, and we enjoyed using the hot tub. Cons: The hotel is old and could use updating. The room was not updated or especially nice like rooms at other Best Western Plus hotels where we have stayed. There were some areas of the room that were not spotless (I am admittedly very picky about cleanliness). Although the breakfast is included and there are a lot of choices, it is almost all junk food, processed foods, and/or items full of lots of sugar. It was a little hard to make a decent meal. The coffee was very weak. The wall-mounted heater in our room was so loud that I had to turn it off at night in order to sleep (luckily the place was sufficiently insulated, so this was not a problem even thought it was winter). This place is not horrible, but I would look to stay elsewhere next time.
Ive been staying here for 2 weeks and my stay has been wonderful. The facility is clean, cool and beautiful. This location has delicious breakfast, teas, and snacks. The overall best part about this BW location is their guest services, Bryanne and her team are customer service experts and made my stay in Senora feel like a home away from home. Can't wait to come back!
rude check in, messy grounds staff walks by garbage staff questioned my reservation for at least five minutes she was worried I didn't use enough points so wasted my time researching. I hoped to be turned away so I could stay else where but my reservation points were confirmed. Geeeze I booked through the Best Western website I won't return there ever
Nice place to stay at, welcoming room was soft and pleasant. Breakfasts was very good. Internet speeds were very fast and in room tv was great. Staff was helpful in checking in. Just stayed one night but will return.
This place is the nicest place in the area where you can stay and be well taken care of. The hotel staff will always go out of their way to help you if any problems occur. They are friendly and professional. The grounds and rooms are well taken care of
The stay was great, all the amenities were there but the rate was way high for the location and Best Western overall. Spending that much for a room is expected in a large metropolitan area bu Sonora??
Our family stayed here for one night, and overall we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a two room suite and saved money by booking directly and getting some reward points. Check in and check out were fast and easy, and service and staff were professional and organized. I was disappointed the bathroom was not updated and the tiles were rusty, but at least the shower and toilet were clean. The shower had good pressure but the toilet needed to be flushed a couple times. The beds were comfortable but the sheets felt a bit rough to me, however my wife thought they were better than our bed at home. The TV in the main room was in an odd position, on the counter next to some kind of bar-tending sink, which I thought was a bad idea. Our room was near the breakfast room which was a convenient and quite area, up until 5 AM - The hotel is next to a road with easy rear parking lot access, and around 5 AM some a**hole driver sped through either the the parking area or on the road (I'm not sure), reving his engine and waking everyone up. I don't blame the hotel for this but it was frustrating. Maybe they can prevent this from happening again with speed humps. The best thing about this hotel is the great comped breakfast, which had moist scrambled eggs, two-kinds of sausage, fluffy Belgium waffles, cereals, juices, bagels, fruits, and more. Very tasty with great service. We didn't use the wi-fi, pool or other amenities. Overall we had a good stay, but I probably would continue shopping for other places if they didn't have that breakfast.
My husband and I always go to Sonora for the Thanksgiving holiday (Wed night - Sat) because we can do some activities on our own with our dog and spend some time with my family. This BW Plus allows us to do both in comfortable and a quiet relaxing atmosphere and is very dog friendly - a big checkmark for us in choosing where to stay. We had a very comfortable bed (no trouble sleeping), a good size refridge ( for restaurant leftovers and purchased drinks / snacks), and it is conveniently located for our planned activities. We have family Thanksgiving dinner on Sat so Thurs we enjoy hiking with our dog and look for new trails each year, exploring the small towns nearby, window shop downtown, and relaxing. Friday we attend the Sonora Christmas Crafts and Music Festival (always finding things we love) and attend the fantastic evening downtown parade with family. Hint: chairs along the sidewalk go out early that am. The parade is so much fun with all the entries lit up. This year on Saturday we drove up to Pinecrest Lake, which is almost empty of water so we were able to walk out into the lake bed, climbing up on big rocks normally submerged, and enjoyed the sun and fresh air after the rain. Then Thanksgiving dinner and the drive home. Having a comfortable quiet room helped us really enjoy our visit. The staff was always smiling and friendly. We waited until Friday for them to clean our room and it was done when we returned - about 3 hours later. The breakfast buffet had everything anyone would want - hot food (scrambled eggs w/cheese, sausage, home fries w/a bite, waffles, strawberry compote), instant oatmeal, cold cereal, all types of breads and pastries, fresh fruit, 4 kinds of juice, yogurt, and lots of bottles of water. They are open from 6 - 10 am, but then closed so if you want a yogurt, piece of fruit, etc you are out of luck. That is where the refridge comes in handy and a very large Safeway down the road. The internet was fast with no problems. I brought my laptop to take advantage of Black Friday sales and glad I did. The cable TV worked great and we had Showtime to enjoy. The only downside (and it was negligible) was that the restaurant next door was closed while changing ownership.
Great place to stay. Clean quiet and friendly service. Their breakfast buffet in the lady that runs it is most excellent you won't go away hungry. Although we live 300 miles away we go there to visit relatives an always stay there and it never changes.
I spent the weekend here in order to attend the memorial service of my brother-in-law. Due to the various complications of travel, family reunion with emotional highs and lows, I am extraordinarily grateful for Bryanne whose knowledge, courtesy, diligence and compassion made everything work together beautifully. Breakfast was exceptional with a staff that pampered us with service and smiles, even away from the breakfast room. Every hotel could learn from Bryanne. Thank you! Dan
We had to stay here overnight after having some issues with our Camper. The hotel is nice. Just what you expect from a Best Western. Clean rooms and an OK breakfast. The employees were great and the Breakfast lady was very personable!
Breakfast was very good and staff was extremely nice. I liked the location of the hotel and quality of the room. Would have liked to have more King rooms available however the double queen room was very spacious.
This property has always been a fine place to stay. Current renovations should make it even better. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly. The breakfast provided is also satisfactory. We always stay at this BW when we are in Sonora.
Stayed here for an overnight stay on our road trip. We were helped by a guy named Mathew, who found us a room and booked us in. Great service by Mathew. We stayed the night and grabbed some breakfast before leaving for the next part of our trip. The breakfast is very entertaining as the Greek lady who clears the tables gets everybody present interacting. It's a best western, if you want 5 star, then pay for it and book it elsewhere. This place is clean , friendly, and exactly what we expected.
On several previous occasions, I enjoyed the nights spent at this rural facility without problems. The 16-19 August 2018 visit was very, very poor. On this visit, I paid San Francisco hotel prices for 3 nights lodging to attend medical meetings. At this room rate, I expect excellent housekeeping services. Halfway through this stay, I learned the dirty bed linen was not changed on a daily basis. The hotel failed three times to inform me of their policy: first, the hotel's website did not mention the policy when the Reservation was made; second, at Check-In, the hotel staff did not mention the policy; and third, there was no In-Room literature or signage with regard to the hotel's bed linen policy. Whenever I stay at a hotel, a small pencil mark is placed in a specific spot upon bed linen to verify whether or not the sheets were changed. On Friday,17 August at 2200 hours as I retired for the evening, I noticed the bed linen had not been changed. That night I did not sleep due to previously soiled, smelly bed linen. On Saturday morning, there were multiple conversations with Front Desk personnel. In brief, (1) they verified their website does not mention the bed linen change policy; (2) there was no Supervisor or Manager on weekend duty; (3) the hotel General Manager was not available until Monday morning and could not be contacted before that time [My scheduled hotel departure was Sunday morning.]; and (4) promises made by the Front Desk were not kept. 18 August 2018: I telephoned Best Western Customer Care for help. They stated these matters are handled by a Mediator and then assigned a Case Number. I was told a Mediator would contact me within several days. [After 30+ days, zero contact from a Mediator.] 22 August 2018: I mailed a letter to David Kong, President and CEO of Best Western Intl., outlining problems and proposing a solution. No response. 23 August 2018: An e-mail was received from Kate Perkins, claiming to the General Manager Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel & Conference Center. The e-mail cited (A) hotel's bed linen change policies and (B) encouraged a return stay. The e-mail did NOT (1) address hotel's repetitive failures to inform the Guest PRIOR to problem occurrence or (2) propose a reasonable solution. Hence, why would anyone return for more abuse? 28 August 2018: An e-mail was received from Kate Pame, claiming to be the General Manager Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel & Conference Center. The e-mail was similar in content to 23 August 2018 e-mail from Kate Perkins. 7 September 2018: I sent an e-mail to Kate Pame & Kate Perkins, asking if they are the same person or different persons, both claiming to be the General Manager Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel & Conference Center. No response. 27 September 2018: After 30+ days without any response from Best Western's Customer Care on the Mediation claim, I telephoned for an update. During this conversation, I learned (1) there is no Mediator or Arbitration process and (2) Best Western Customer Care ONLY takes "notes." They will not do anything else. Bottom Line: the Customer loses. Summary 1. On 3 separate occasions PRIOR to problem occurrence, the hotel failed to inform the Customer of its bed linen changing policies. First: at the time of website Reservation, there was no mention of this policy. Second: at the time of hotel Check-In, there was no mention of this policy. Third: the In-Room literature contained no mention of this policy. 2. Despite their repetitive failures to inform IN ADVANCE, the Customer is held a financial hostage by the hotel. To inform AFTER the fact is shaky legal ground, the hotel's current position. 3. The hotel refuses to take the honourable course of action and fix the problem. I paid for 3 nights of sleeping accommodations. Due to dirty, smelly bed linen, I did not sleep 1 night. Do the math. 4. Customer Service is clearly an unknown concept at this hotel and at Best Western. For the latter, any Customer Care begins and ends with the title. Moreover, BW Customer Care misrepresented their services on 18 August 2018. 5. I purchased services that I did not receive. The hotel refuses to correct. 6. The medical conference organisers are well aware of these problems.
The hotel was in a good location for our purpose of boating at New Melones Lakes. There was adequate parking for our truck and boat. We did travel with our small dog, and since we had a boat, were able to stay towards the back of the property which was quieter than the lobby area. Our first room (264) would have been great had there not been pubic hairs and other short hairs on the bathroom floor. We changed rooms to (252) and although it was clean, there were several issues with the room itself. The shower head was at such a high angle (it could not be adjusted) that anyone short would have to stand all the way at the front of the tub to get wet. The remote control for the tv stopped working. I was told a new one had to be programmed and not just dropped off. This was not OK for us since we had a dog with us in the room. The bathroom fan did not work causing lots of steam to build-up during showers. I would have preferred the room 264 due to end of property location, and even though the front desk offered to completely re-clean the room, I did not want wait another hour. The change of rooms was an inconvenience, but we were given a 50% discount for the first night, so it made up for the hastle. I don't know if I would stay here again.
The overall experience was pretty good. I don't usually stay at this chain but it was the only one in the area I had heard of. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. There are no elevators so we paid $20 extra for a ground floor entrance. The room was very clean and everything worked as expected. The water had a bit of a mineral smell and taste. We did not participate in the free breakfast. There was some construction in the parking lot area so we couldn't park in front of our room but we're still fairly close. Sonora is a great little town to visit.
Stayed here due to a project and was pleased with how clean and comfy it was. I had a large room on the road side but I did not hear any traffic. The pool looked nice but I did not have time to enjoy. The breakfast was hearty and good
Even thought the price was I felt slightly steep the room was very nice, quiet too, and the breakfast was excellent. if you are looking for a very comfortable motel and don't mind the price this is a great choice.
This is our fourth time we have stayed at this hotel and we have always been very pleased with it. Rooms are big and quiet. The bathroom is a good size and bed comfortable. Would recommend this hotel.
Could not ask for a better experience. From reservation process through our stay you could not ask for a more pleasant stay. Friendliness of staff, especially Brianne, was a major plus. Have booked to future weekends.
There always a nice and clean room, lovely stay every time I come. And when I walk in with my Co- workers I see a beautiful smile from Bryanne and receive Great Service as well. Thanks for always letting us stay.
We experienced this Best Western for the first time. My husband, me and the dog too! Met some friends for a day at the lake, and stayed 1 night here. We will most definitely be back to stay again. Absolutely loved this hotel. The staff couldn't have been any friendlier and helpful, the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was delicious with plenty of options for everyone! Our whole experience was GREAT! I highly recommend you book your stay here.
The hotel front desk (Britney) was very kind and helpful. The room was large nicely furnished, slept well. The real jewel at the hotel was the lady in the breakfast area. She was very helpful, busy seeing everyone was taken care of, just a real joy. Unless you like India food find a different restaurant, the American food wasn't all that great.
This place is to three stars as I am to George Clooney (I'm almost 80 and medium ugly). It isn't all that bad for the money ($150) but, THREE STARS IT IS NOT!! It's a tired, barely adequate facility. Two stars at best.
Just outside of the small tourist areas. We made the stop at Jamestown, Columbia, Sonora, and Tuolumne all in one day. They give you a discount at the associated restaurant in the parking lot, walking distance from your room.
Stayed two nights to visit Sierra Wilderness. Everything worked well and the room was well cleaned and prepared. While the hotel is on the outskirts of town, it is well placed if you intend to visit a variety of recreational sites, with easy access to the major roads.
A very comfortable, clean, friendly place to stay when visiting out of town relatives. Staff knowledgeable about events occurring in the area and how to go about obtaining access. Have been going to this location for years, consistently good service. Restaurant/bar on site has karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights if you don't want to drive anywhere for a drink a little fun
My wife and I spent one night at this hotel on our Riviera Travel California & the Golden West holiday. We had a decent size bedroom with two double beds, large TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. The bathroom had a good shower. We enjoyed a good breakfast that was included in the price. We ate our evening meal at the restaurant across the car park, but it was a little disappointing as everything else about the hotel was good.
This is by far our favorite best western to date! They are incredibly friendly, wonderful service, and have a great relationship with the restaurant/bar across the parking lot. Their breakfast hostess,Stella, was adorable, hilarious, and entertaining! She went above and beyond to make you feel at home. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!
My wife and I accompanied her aging parents to Sonora to visit their rental property located in the mountains a few miles above town. Turns out that this hotel was perfectly located near the road to access the property and just a half mile from the property management office. The staff greeted us courteously upon check-in and also happily accommodated our request for the parents to have a downstairs room due to their disability. The rooms were spacious, clean and everything worked. The beds were very comfortable. The full breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff were friendly and accommodating as well. The hotel was set back far enough so as not to be affected by noise of the nearby highway, and the rural setting was nice. We found a great casual restaurant for dinner only about 1/2 mile down the road - "Peppery's". The price we paid for our rooms was reasonable given the amenities and the time of year. Overall, our expectations were exceeded.
Rooms are large but not latest and greatest, everything particularly bathrooms very outdated. - this was aug 17. there maybe remodel since. to me not close enough to anything to charge high prices like a tourist destination. Decent breakfast included at restaurant on property is best thing to say about the place and a Yarts stop but this place is long drive already with no stops in between. To get back you must leave Yosemite a bit early as 3 hours each way via bus. about 2 in car. Some high sierra mountains.
This hotel looks small upon approach, however it is very large and has a great staff at the desk and even better in the kitchen. Breakfast was the usual scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, etc. However the staff made sure the food was hot by bring out waffles to the table and keeping an eye out for special diets people may have and accommodated them.
We stayed here for three nights. The hotel seems to be on a remodel as the reception under construction and our room is quite dated. But with that being said our room was comfortable, the people at the front desk were very helpful, and the breakfast was good and the staff was amazing!
The Best Western is a great value in Sonora. It is clean and the morning coffee is excellent. The rooms are large and we had a view overlooking the woods with a balcony where we could sit outside and eat or read. The staff is very kind and helpful. The pool is outside and has a seven foot deep end. The other excellent thing is that the YARTS bus stops here for public transportation to Yosemite. It takes three hours by bus but it is much better than driving over the Sierra Nevada mountains on narrow highways with a cliff on one side and a sheer drop on the other. We would definitely stay here again.
Our four day stay was very enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious, the service and hospitality of Stella and Eddy was remarkable. We have travelled a lot, and this has been the best breakfast service we have ever encountered. Our room was nice and quiet. The location is beautiful!
The staff here is VERY friendly, I want to give a special "shout out" to Stella in the breakfast room, what a wonderful lady! The world could use a few more wonderful people like Stella, she went way over and above what her job duty is. She was personally greeting and serving people at their table (self serve buffet style place), super friendly and happy. The hotel is a nice quaint place nestled in the trees, very clean. the restaurant bar across the parking lot was even willing to stay open late and serve me and again, a shout out to "Jinx" for letting me stay late and having great conversation.
Friendly staff... Spacious and clean Room... Nice buffet breakfast.... Free parking... There is also fine American/Indian restaurant. I went there with my family before visiting Yosemite. I would recommend it to anyone.
Clean and well appointed rooms with great wifi - surprisingly quiet even though the property is just off the freeway. Substantial breakfast in the adjoining restaurant. Ideally located as a launch pad to Yosemite
A pretty average place to stay. The room was clean, with the standard complementary breakfast. The rooms were average quiet with no auto noise and just a bit of being able to hear you neighbor. We happened to get someone in training at checkout so that took a bit too long.
Despite a lot of crew members staying there we had a nice quiet stay. A couple of early snafus, but the staff too care of it. The lady handling the breakfast was especially cheery and helpful. No complaints and a good value.
To find reasonable hotel rates near Yosemite, (in April, 2018), I stayed with the great crew here at the Sonora Oaks Hotel and everyone, from the gracious young women at the desk, to the housekeeping crew could not have been better. I had reasons to interact several evenings with the front desk and their courteous friendly assistance to me (and others), answering my questions was wonderful. A special thanks to Breanne for her patience and wonderful assistance to all my questions!
There are a number of places to stay in the Sonora - Oakdale- Yosemite area but if you want hot showers, comfortable beds, friendly, helpful staff and breakfast, I recommend the Sonora Oaks. Rooms are quiet, the pool is cool and the food at breakfast is basic and plenty of it.
This property made our stay! We stayed here for 2 nights during our visit to the Yosemite National Park. The room that we were in was spacious and the hotel was excellent in terms of the service rendered. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast that was included as part of our stay. Would definitely recommend the BWP without any second thought to fellow travelers who wish to stay in the Sonora area.
Never stayed in hotel that serves breakfast on paper plates and with plastic forks. Although breakfast lady was awesome - i can not imagine how much waste they produce daily. Saw big bags of plates and cups being carried out. Not even to mention - serving any food on paper/plastic is tackiest thing ever. in general - basic hotel, totally overpriced, nice location.
Management was highly responsive and helpful. Facilities were clean and roomy, and our dog was welcome (there are even great places onsite to walk him). Good free breakfast is included, and there is a fridge and microwave in the room. We were happy to be here; thanks for a great stay!
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times when we go up to Sonora to visit friends. The rooms are always exceptionally clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. A lot of the hotels in this area look like they have seen better days, but this hotel is always well maintained.
A bit pricey but had no other choice for there was a few events happening in the area and the places I normally stay at were sold out. Other than that the hotel was pretty clean and staff was very nice. They did mess up on my reservation but they were able to correct it.
Pleasant room. Really all you need when touring about the area. We stayed here and drove to Yosemite one morning and back in late afternoon. An easy drive. This is far less expensive and nicer than staying in the Yosemite Valley (if you could get a room) or the immediate area surrounding. The breakfast was really quite good with a large variety of both hot and cold dishes from which to choose. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff courteous and accomodating. Internet service is included and excellent. Direct tv with large variety of channels .
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room (see attachement) was clean and big. We also had time to wash and dry our clothes (you can buy the detergent 1$ at the reception, then 1.75$ washing and 1.75$ drying). Outdoor pool was nice, breakfast also. For one night very good.
Make reservations early for peak times. The hotel offers a lot of suggestions of places to see and visit. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel offers wireless connections, a heated pool and spa. An adjacent restaurant has an excellent menu and great staff. The Sonora Oaks hotel staff are excellent and go the extra effort to ensure a guest's stay is a positive one!
I am a gold member with advance reservations with 2 minor requests, a QUIET king room away from traffic & noise and the 2nd level. We arrived at 2:10 and were told the room wouldn't be ready until 3. Came back at 3:30 and the room was so close to the road that the noise level was unacceptable. The staff was unwilling to accommodate my requests (it was only 3:40) and stated there were no other rooms available and offered a queen on the first floor, we accepted this option but regretted it later as the room above us were not light of foot. Let me add that the hotel is dated, bedding was showing its age and the bathroom was remodeled by a novice and caulk repairs were extreme. I would avoid this BW as there are other options in the area. FYI, I usually give only good reviews and avoid negative thoughts but this review was earned by both staff and management.
Centrally located with access to Twain Harte, Sonora and Pinecrest. Clean and excellent service. Pool and conference center. There is a bar and restaurant nearby. We havestayed here many times while up visiting family and friends.
Nice place to stay. Great place to visit. Breakfast is outstanding. Room needs to have a microwave. Great views. Beds are very comfortable. Air conditioner and heat work very good. Great stall and service.
Typical Best Western. Room heater old and broken. Room quality low. Doors outside. No elevator. Tv and breakfast were good. Overall needs improvement to compete with newer, higher quality places to stay.
We expected a typical Best Western, but were very pleasantly surprised by this place. It is clean, feels new or recently remodeled, our room was large, and the breakfast was very good with a large variety. The breakfast "facilitator" was extremely friendly and helpful. We were given a coupon for a $1 drink at the onsite bar as well, which is always a nice thing at the end of a long day of sightseeing. I looked at all the lodging options in town before booking this place, and wow - this place was really a great deal.
This hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and it provides the perfect get away. We enjoyed the room, the balcony and the location. I would very much recommend this location.
Booked this hotel based on its TA reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel was conveniently located off Hwy 108. The rooms were very clean and updated. The shining star of this hotel is their morning breakfast. The breakfast area had several hot foods and the area was always very clean. The wonderful ladies who worked the morning breakfast always had a big smile waiting for you when you entered and they were always offering us fresh waffles. We always looked forward to our breakfasts!!
This was our second hotel room with the Best Western chain this trip, we weren't disappointed. The room was great, slept well, no issues overall. The continental breakfast was nothing fancy but did the job.
This is the only hotel I stay in while visiting my brother and his family in Sonora. The staff is great. The rooms are clean. The breakfast is just what you need in the morning. Overall, I have always had great stays.
Best trip ever, they even gave my husband a gift basket for his birthday. They have the best staff, friendly, caring. We try to stay there a couple times a year.We really love the area, and Black Oak Casino.
We stayed her two nights. The first night was after a long day at Yosemite and another day of exploring the small gold rush towns in the area. It is nice that it is centrally located. There is a pretty decent restaurant across the parking lot so you don't have to leave for meals. Included is a really nice hot breakfast. It was situated somewhat inconvenient as it was in another building and raining pretty heavy. But overall better than average accommodations.
Our family of 4 stayed at this Best Western for 2 nights while on a ski trip to Dodge Ridge. The hotel is about 40 min away from the ski resort which was fine for us. The room we had was on the 2nd floor and looked newly renovated. It had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker, comfy bed & pillows, small patio w table & chairs, clean bathroom. The included breakfast at the hotel was decent with enough selection- scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, fresh waffles which were yummy, as well as cereals, yogurt, oatmeal. We were able to fill up before heading out for skiing. It's close to the main Sonora town where we had dinner. Overall, the Best Western was a good place to stay for our ski trip, and we'll likely be back again.
My family and I spent 1 night here in a 2nd Floor room and was pleasantly surprised at how nicely maintained the property is. The room was nicely spaced and it was quiet at night. The room was clean and was as expected. The front desk was fast and friendly. Convenient after spending time in Yosemite. Good launching point to some other sites nearby. There is no elevator which would have been useful since I had one heavy bag to lug up the stairs. The breakfast was the usual assortment and spread out cleanly with eggs, bacon, cereals, oatmeal, pastries, breads, yogurt, fruits, coffee, and juice. The waffle was placed inside a warmer and were all soft; making it an interesting breakfast to chew. Not terrible just a little weird to have soft waffles. All in all; nice place to stay and worthwhile stop.
The front desk made check in easy, and showed consideration and respect and went to extra lengths to make sure we had everything we needed, from extra towels to extra coffee. The room was set up nicely with a couple chairs to sit on. That is always a plus, as sitting on a bed is not the most comfortable option. The grounds were cared for, and lots of plants and trees.
I have stayed at this property four times, and each time I have been impressed by the staff. It's not fancy, but at the reasonable price, it shouldn't be. The rooms are large and clean. I had one small issue, but it was addressed immediately.
We spent two nights here as we were attending a family wedding. Rated a Best Western Plus I thought the same service we got in Southern California would be given- wrong. The SoCal facility had a large dining room with plates and metal utensils and a real dining experience. Sonora had paper and plastic to eat off of and a very small dining area. The ladies who worked the kitchen were just outstanding and helpful. Front desk was professional and helpful. For $200 a night I was hoping for something a bit better/
This is an older motel with doors that open to outside hallways and looks like it was built in the 1970's. The rooms are dark and dated with only a sliding door for outside light. We stayed in a room that was advertised as having a view of the woods, but when you looked outside the sliding glass door, the view consisted of a couple of trees beside a road that led up to some adjacent apartment buildings. We stayed on the second floor and there did not appear to be any elevators for the building we stayed in. Breakfast is included in the room price and there were edible items like scrambled eggs, cereal, muffins, toast, etc. The older ladies who staff the breakfast room are very friendly and will offer to make you waffles. We didn't like that the only television in the breakfast room was tuned to CNN which was blasting out fake news. We didn't try the pool or spa but we did check out the fitness room that contained an elliptical trainer, a stationary bike, a treadmill, and a weight machine. The only television set in the fitness room was broken. Free internet was included in the room price that has adequate speeds for basic tasks like viewing email. The Best Western hotel is sort of hit or miss when it comes to lodging. This particular property is acceptable considering that there aren't many lodging opportunities in the Sonora area.
You know the thing that gets me is this. From the moment you pull onto the property you get this sense of peace and tranquility around you. It is a beautiful place, lots of fantastic old pines and the layout is spread over sloping hills. The rooms are great and basically sound proof, very nice. So, my husband and I got a room for the weekend for a friends wedding. We checked in Friday afternoon, the people at the desk were welcoming and fun. My husband and I are both cigarette smokers and as such we respect the rules that have been in place for years. When reserving the room, I asked for a smoking room. Of course, I was instantly reminded by the person making the reservation. That even though it is listed as a smoking room, we are still not allowed to smoke inside of the room. I assured her that we do not even smoke inside at home so, that would not be a problem. I am a person who does not care for cigarette butts in ashtrays or on the ground. If I see one I discard it in a trash container. So, or the course of the weekend I was picking up cigarette butts of the walkways, the parking lot, as well as keeping the sand ashtray we had on the patio free of unsightly butts. I was throwing them into the plastic lined trash cans in the room along with the rest of the trash giving it no thought. I am also a person who likes to have a room smelling good, something better than old socks or cleaning fluids. So, I always burn incense no matter where I am. We had a great weekend and checked out with everything fine. However, three weeks later my husband got his credit card bill and They had charged his card an extra 200 dollars. He called immediately asking what the added charge was for. They told him that it was a cleaning fee for the room. When he asked what they meant by a cleaning fee. They told him that because we smoked in the room it had to be cleaned. Well, my husband is not the kind of person that likes to challenge people. He told me about what they said and I instantly called to talk to them about that. They told me that the room smelled like cigarettes and had to be cleaned. I told them that that was not possible because we did not smoke in the room only on the patio where we were told we could. I proceeded to tell her about the incense I had burned and the cigarette butts I had policed from the area that could have given the room a smell. But, when she proceeded to tell me that they had to clean the carpet, send the drapes out, have the mattresses cleaned, the entire surface of every wall cleaned, throw the pillows and bedding out and have the furniture professionally cleaned. I knew right then that we were being ripped off. I told her that what she was saying was totally untrue and she knew it. It was not only ridiculous for her to say what she was saying, but you would have to have 30 chain smoking people locked in the room for a month to do the kind of smoke damage she was talking about. I was a nurse for 32 years and I am well aware of what the effects of smoking are inside to any place. Hence why we do not smoke in our own home. Anyway, she kept saying that she was right, eventually I just gave up. I wanted to post this review because I found out later that they did the same thing stating several different reasons to all but 2 of the people staying there for the wedding. I will never recommend this beautiful place to anyone. So, travelers beware of extra added charges if you stay here
This is a huge hotel in two story buildings spread out like a compound. Outside isn't to remarkable but you can tell that effort was made on the inside to make it as nice as possible. Very well maintained with an extremely friendly and efficient staff. The room we stayed in turned out to be a handicapped accessible room and it was quite large, double doors to the bathroom, lots of handholds, etc. It had a flat screen TV, hairdryer, small refrigerator, iron, ironing board, etc. The room was very quiet and we didn't hear the neighbors.
Very nice hotel slightly off the beaten path. We had woods room and it was very quiet and clean. Hotel staff are extremely polite and helpful. My only concern was breakfast - it is standard Best Western fare but the room was crowded and the as hard as the staff was working - it was hard for them to keep up with the crowd. They need a bigger room.
Came to Senora for a weekend stay. EVERYbody that we talked with at the front desk was amazingly nice and helpful people. I can't remember anyone's name- but night shift on Friday and Saturday--- and day shifts on Saturday and especially Sunday were VERY helpful. We appreciate it and will stay here again on our next trip to town... Thanks!
This is a nice location, clean hotel!! The rooms could use some updating but overall the staff was extremely friendly and it was very clean. I will definitely stay there again. The breakfast was good too!
The hotel staff is good as is the room space. However, the rooms are in the need of renovations. The breakfast is adequate, but the restaurant service is bad. The location is not too far from Yosemite, although the road has many curves.
FRIENDLY STAFF - Thank You. Family wedding in Sonora. 20 of us had reservations at this location. Desk personnel worked with us to be close together, kids had a great time. Pool was beautiful. Enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, nice rooms, great breakfast that was constantly refilled with fresh food. GREAT experience, will definitely stay there again.
Everything in excellent shape, great shower, lots of clean towels, and even pretty good coffee in the room. We were happy campers. Very quiet, great staff...Got discount for AAA and attending a family funeral.
The hotel is very easy to find on the far eastern end of Sonora with excellent highway access. The breakfast ladies were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure I had enough - which I did. Check-in was flawless. Check-out was not - they could not provide a statement / receipt. Rooms are very clean. The usual under-window heating and cooling unit was noisier than most. Fortunately, it was warm enough during my stay that I could turn it off at night.
We spent a pleasent night at the Best Western Sonora Oaks Hotel. We traveled to Sonora on a business trip. We usually stay at Best Western Hotels as you do get a good room for the price. We stayed at this hotel as they allowed us to bring our dog (for a small extra price). The room was good size and very clean. The room had a large flat screen TV (est. 50"), a small refrig, micro wave, and a small coffee pot. There was a happy hour where you got a glass of wine or a beer for $1. (coffee and soda were free). In the morning there was a very good breakfast. We would stay here again.
We will be back in the near future as we are looking at Real Estate in the area to buy. Our Realtor suggested we stay at this Hotel in Sonora, CA. The Realtor's family were visiting, they also stayed at the same Hotel and were very happy there.
The staff was very rude. Charged me the wrong rate and charged my card twice instead of once at check in. Both the staff at check in and check out didn't want to honor my discount certificate the previous manager had given me due to trouble I had on a previous stay. I had to get to a point where I was loud and mean which I never do. This was my fourth stay at this location but I won't be going back. This is how they treat a Diamond Rewards Member!
Hotel is in a great location. Easy access to Sonora, Jamestown, Columbia and Murphys. Friendly staff will assist in helping you find your way around. A restaurant on the property is great for breakfast
Old style 1970s motel with outdoor entrances. Rear of hotel they have built new rooms which look better from outside. Breakfast offered is in the restaurant and you have 4 choices for style of breakfast you want.
A very nice property with very friendly folks. Complimentary breakfast at the PineTree restaurant was very good, with fast, cheerful, rapid service. We plan to return to this Best Western property and request the same room because it was so nice.
I slept like a baby on this first rate mattress! We had a little patio that my wife and I sat on to drink our coffee, and the view was great. Staff went over and above in making our experience a pleasant one. We also got two free complete breakfasts (four choices or five dollars off) at the restaurant next door. We ordered both ways.
This is probably the best value in Sonora. Breakfast next door was included, and was excellent. I understand the bar there has excellent beers on tap. Location is excellent, too; close to downtown and not far from Black Oak Casino, Standard Pour, etcetera.
fun place to stay - nice suites with fireplace, balcony and spa tub. convenient location and friendly accommodating staff. will stay there again when visiting black oak casino and the surrounding area
Stayed for one night to attend an event at Columbia State Park, which is about 7 miles away. Staff was superb and customer oriented. Room was clean and comfortable (room 222). HVAC worked well and parking was right by the room. Breakfast was nice and packaged with the room rate. The included breakfast had several choices which would work for most people. Front Desk Agent, Kapalni, was especially helpful although I had no needs or issues, she was very attentive and interested. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Sonora.
Clean! Comfortable Beds! Continuous Fan Option on A/C to Reduce Outside Noise! Heater in Bathroom! Balcony Room! Free Breakfast in Restaurant! Restaurant has a Bar. Friendly Staff! Historic Town near Yosemite
This is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel and have found it to be very pleasant and clean both times. The service is wonderful and the included breakfast delicious. I would definitely recommend!
Great staff, clean rooms and breakfast too!! Best hotel in the area! Beds are not the most comfortable- but then again hotels beds aren't ever as good as home. BW saved the day for us. We had checked into another hotel and immediately checked out. It was a holiday weekend and when we called in desperation with nowhere to stay they made room for us!! So thankful.
The hotel was chosen for its rate, free breakfast and travel distance to the Big Oak Flat gate into Yosemite. We traveled back and forth for 4 days and while it was a bit further than I would have wanted, it worked out very well for us. The hotel is well-worn and in need of maintenance. We had to ask the front desk to clean our room - it was missed two days in a row. Wi-Fi is pretty good in the lobby. We really enjoyed our free breakfast. Large and very filling. The restaurant was more than accommodating with bagged lunch requests for our daily trip to Yosemite. The extra surprise was the main street of Sonora - definitely worth a stroll and a meal at one of the many restaurants if you have the time.
Good service, Good food, Good location, short term visit or long this could be the answer. Quite during our stay but busy also, Holiday Travel is always hectic.New ownership so it may change in the future. I will keep reading reviews before booking again. I have no major issues with my last stay.
Title says it all. Gym had one machine with weights but no free weights. Bed was lumpy and not comfortable. The hallways had a distinct smell of strong bleach. We had free breakfast at the restaurant next door. The waitress gave us slow service the minute she saw us walking in with the coupon. We had to wait 15 minutes to order our free breakfast (b/c she preferred to take orders from real customers instead)
First, this has the best breakfast of any Best Western, hands down. We stayed for a couple of nights just checking out the area, and will recommend it highly. The rooms are comfy and quiet. Staff is excellent. The diner also has dinner (and room service) including Indian food
I had a very pleasant stay. This is an excellent hotel with good staff.. I am disabled and the bed was of a good height. Too high a bed is a problem for me in many hotels but not this one. The service was good and the restaurant was excellent. I have stayed in this hotel many times and the quality continues to improve. The location is good and the business I had to attend to was near the hotel. I formerly lived in Sonora and find this hotel to be located near the institutions I used frequently when living here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Everything was clean and cozy. People were very nice. Very satisfied with best western. Liked the breakfast at the restaurant next door. Lots of pillows on the bed, very comfortable. We would stay there again
Great stay! Friendly and efficient Staff and Competent and friendly Staff. They work fast and answer all inquiries quickly and cheerfully. The restaurant breakfast manager is a hoot! The pillows are wonderful and the bedding is high quality.
My husband, my 7 year old son, toddler daughter and I spent the night here on a little weekend jaunt to the Gold Country. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. In fact, after check in, they called our room just to see if we needed anything. As part of our reservation, we received a complimentary breakfast. I had assumed it was a standard continental breakfast but we learned that breakfast was at the restaurant across the parking lot. It was a FULL hot breakfast - eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, pancakes...The kids were VERY happy (daughter got a giant Mickey Mouse pancake!). It was a great start to our day. The location was perfect too - near enough to Columbia, Jamestown, etc.
The stay was great nice staff ,clean and well stocked rooms and comfortable beds, just was excited for the Breakfast at restaurant but was left very unsatisfactory had to send back my food and my husband
Clean with professional staff. Great amenities. The staff is very helpful with events in the area and planning. great location for the area. easy access for lodging and surrounding highways. Great place for work and leisure.
We have stayed in several area hotels, and this one is by far the best. Staff was friendly and helpful, the coffee in the lobby is really good! Rooms were clean and all amenities were in good working order.
Beautiful grounds, well maintained hotel. Staff is very friendly, accommodating, take great pride in doing a good job. Hotel is in excellent proximity to Sonora as well ~30 minute drive to Pinecrest Lake. Excellent affordable rates for staying in the most upscale hotel within Sonora proximity. They are genuinely pet friendly which was a big plus for me. Spacious rooms and very comfortable beds. Complimentary full breakfast included in the rate.
Try this location when visiting the gold country, you will miss the traffic and there are stores and restaurants near by. The staff at this location are great and you get get a full breakfast at the restaurant next door.
Sonora is a nice place to visit in the fall and the Best Western hotel is THE place to stay We go to the Mother Lode every year and discover new places every time, beautiful scenery and history as well.
The hotel was perfectly located for our needs. The check in was easy and fast. The room was clean, spacious, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was very good with many selections. The service staff was extremely pleasant and helpful.
If you are coming through from north to south e route to yosemite, this property is on the way but we came from yosemite so it was at least a 10 to 14 miles one way detour enroute to SF. Room was OK. Toilet flush was a problem. Cooler in room was ultra noisy. Opened the window but the noise from the road was just as noisy. Struggled with key card. Room dated. Breakfast was OK. Not buffet style but a choice of 4 options and served to you. Service not the best, just OK.
friendly staff full breakfast close to shopping ample parking for the price it is a very nice place to stay we will be back again and again what we paid for three nights was the same as we paid for one night at travel lodge.
Our stay was the usual pleasant experience. An added bonus was breakfast which was available through a voucher to a restaurant in the same parking lot with the hotel. It was a nice change to be able to be sitting in an actual restaurant and being served.
We want to reserve the hotel in Yosemite National Park but it is full. Then we select this 4 star hotel close to Yosemite. The room is clean and bigger. And the breakfast is normal,it is fixed menu selected but must waiting a bit long time.
Friendly, knowledgable staff. Clean and quiet. Couldn't have asked for more from this stay. They recommended some local spots to visit which turned out great. Brought up some complimentary travel items we forgot to pack. Great for any traveler!
Finding decent, reasonably priced accommodations anywhere near Yosemite can be a challenge. The Sonora Oaks Hotel is about a two-three hour drive from Valley and provides a good over night stop heading to or from the park. Friendly reception. Rooms are large and clean - fairly standard Best Western style. Upon checking into our room we noticed a sound from above the ceiling (sounded a bit like some birds had made a nest in the attic space). I stopped by the front desk and without hesitation they moved us to a different (and better room). A better than average cooked to order breakfast is included. Would stay here again.
I lived in Sonora for 19 years and recently returned for a visit. We stayed at the Best Western Plus. We arrived at 11 pm, front desk clerk was very friendly. Our room was very clean and included a small refrigerator and microwave. Beds were comfortable and the property is quiet. They offer a full cooked breakfast which we didn't take advantage of but it was appreciated. The only draw back is stairs. Just be aware if you have trouble carrying suitcases up stairs or have issues with stairs, book a ground floor room! Other than that, it is a great value.
Every time I visit family in Sonora, I stay at the Best Western. The prices are fair. The rooms are clean. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is a nice bonus to the stay. It is located in a pretty central location to several of the areas attractions.
Spent an excellent night here while on the way to Yosemite. Nice, clean, comfortable room. There was a small episode when our room was also assigned to another guest; the front desk (Thanks Melissa, Brenda, Britni [?]!) resolved the situation with tact and professionalism. Nice place and would be happy to return.
Old run down place, out of 14 hotels in last month (road trip) this is one of the least favorite places, room wise. Spiders in bed and shower, MANY stains on carpet and sofa, very old room with view of the nearby asphalt road, very noisy pipes (you hear every neighbors shower and bathroom visit) trash in corridor was over flowing, really in need of better care and renovation. Hardly leave negative reviews but skip it so many other options we saw along the way... this is just about the hotel and room, not the people at all. The staff was great at reception, and restaurant as well, simple breakfast included, everyone was nice there as well and we really liked the people. The hotel is just not worth the money (far far from it) and the room was.. an old and kinda dirty motel room, if you on a budget and just spending a night, and hate the process of booking a hotel maybe this is fine for a short lay over. Enjoy your trip wherever you stay!
I was happy to find a quality name brand hotel after a very long day. The Desk Staff were professional yet playful. The room seemed clean and I was so tired that I climbed into bed and didn't notice the bedding had some issues. When I woke up I say the the sheets had funny burn/tear areas. I think housekeeping didn't care enough to replace the bed skirt that has been worn for quite some time or throw away the sheets they made my bed with.
The hotel was nearly booked when we arrived w/o a reservation after camping for several days in the Eastern Sierra.. My wife wanted a bathtub and the desk representative was able to find us a suitable room with a Jacuzzi tub. The room was fully equipped with microwave, fridge, coffee, wifi, etc. It featured a nice little patio just outside the sliding glass door. Good place to enjoy morning coffee. The hotel comes with an on-premises restaurant.featuring both American and Indian food. We had a good lunch there upon arrival and the next morning took advantage of the full complimentary American breakfast to order. No prefab motel breakfast here. All-in-all, the Sonora Best Western was just the place to recharge after our camping trip.
Ugh, when we pulled up I wondered if we had made a mistake. The rooms were so-so, but they did have enough electrical outlets, the bathroom vanity was outside the bathroom so that helped with getting ready in the morning. (by the way, this hotel is expensive.....) What sets this place apart is the staff. What a wondeful group of people. They were so helpful. An added bonus is the coupon for breakfast next door. AMAZING food. Simply amazing. I think there might be new owners and they offered Indian food in addition to the very LARGE menu. For dinner, We just had burgers but when the table near us had their Indian Chicken delivered OMG we wanted to reorder!!! The breakfast was great too. So much food! And the wait staff were simply amazing. Just such nice people who really, really work hard. I would stay here again just for the food!!!
Stayed here when we went to Yosemite. We went into the Big Oak Flat entrance. Biggest town near entrance. The breakfast is fantastic. You eat at a full service restaurant. The rooms were updated. Overall good stay
Nice place to stay if you are in Sonora, CA. Everything was very clean, nice peaceful balcony to relax on and offered your choice of four breakfasts at restaurant located on Motel's property. We will stay here again if we are ever in the area again.
We have always enjoyed staying at Best Westerns and this one was recommended to us but our stay was awful. The bed had serious issues and we should have said something immediately but didn't, we were tired and didn't. The middle of the king bed peaked in the middle like a roof top when you sat or laid down on it so ended up sleeping in the middle and rolling down most of the night. I did say something to the staff the next morning and they gave me a Starbucks card so they did try to make the stay better. I hope they corrected the issue for the next guests.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here after leaving Yosemite. We stayed in the separate back building behind the main hotel and the room was quiet and comfortable. We especially enjoyed having the wild area directly behind our room and patio. The staff was friendly and helpful. We appreciated that a complementary cooked to order breakfast is included with the room. We would definitely stay here again.
There was nothing exciting about this hotel. It's not close to old town and you need a car to drive anywhere. Staff is wonderful and very helpful Rooms are clean, but outdated and feel like it's time for a renovation. Pool are was nice area was nice. The restaurant staff is a bit rough, but still nice. Breakfast was included and the selections was great. Dinner was horrible - would not recommend for dinner.
The hotel itself is very good, staff go out their way to be helpful Rooms are great but it does not have an in-house breakfast room, you are given vouchers to go to the restaurant next door with a limited choice, shame! The night we arrived we were treated to a manager's reception which was very good, we met and chatted to people from Arizona also on vacation there, a good night
Very friendly and accommodating staff. It is clean and the free breakfast is awesome. You get 4 options to choose from and coffee, juice and fruit is included. Great place for a quick stay. Lots of parking available. We could here quite a bit of noise from other guests outside as the rooms open to the outside but really was a great stay
Staff was friendly. Room was clean and well appointed. Location is safe and quiet with good proximity to Yosemite National Park and the nearby National Forest. The rooms are appointed with mini fridge and microwave. Wifi was very strong, even sufficient for streaming movies. I would give 5 stars if the room would not have been so warm; heating of the building appeared to kick on at night and my room in particular was overheated. During your stay, do look forward to the included breakfast which is at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel. A set menu for hot breakfast is provided but the choices are wonderful, food was fantastic, and portions were generous. Wait staff at the restaurant was exceptional.
Stayed Two Night with wife as we were passing through to Mammoth Lakes . The staff at the front desk was professional, very friendly and helpful. the room was spacious, quiet ,well appointed, clean, the bed very comfortable,Fridge and microwave in the room, and the air conditioning works really well. The bathroom was nice and clean with all toiletries provided ,the shower was wonderful, very strong. The Free Breakfast was available early in the nearby Restaurant ,Very good selection of items, one of four choices with fresh fruits, and service was very good. The only little problem, there isn't an elevator and we were on the second floor. and we had to climb up the stairs. However the staff assisted us with luggage to our room. Overall the price very reasonable and we enjoyed our stay here.
Was greeted with a smile by Michael who gave us instructions for locating our room. Several buildings on the property in and among the oak and pine trees. Our room was very quiet and looked out onto a court yard walk way. The room was very large with lots of lightening. Although it is an older hotel there are no signs of old age or out dating of furniture, fixtures etc. Comfortable beds, lots of hot water (without having to wait) and every thing was spotless. Breakfast included 4 choices in their restaurant which opened at 6 a.m. These owners have thought of everything. We would stay here about
During check in I had requested a room away from roads so it would be quiet. I was staying there for a full week on business and working nights so wanted it to be quiet during daytime. I was assured that the room would be fine. Once I got to the room, the window was about 20 feet from a road. I called the office to request a different room. They told me they would look into it and get back to me shortly. After quite a bit of wait and another phone call with no answer, I went back to the office. They said that they could not move me as all rooms were already booked. I asked if I could move the following night for the rest of the week. I was told that all rooms were booked. I would think that with a person staying a week, that some rooms could be moved around for one or two night stays to accommodate a longer staying guest. I ended up staying in the same room all week. Not an enjoyable stay with not a lot of rest. I'm not sure I would stay there again. Not a pleasant experience. Hotel staff was pleasant to deal with, just didn't solve my problem.
This was one of the better trips I had up to Sonora and Mr Link the Mangea was exceptional and so was some of his staff ...especially the little blond girl at both check in and check out I don't remember her name . Sorry
Stopped on spec overnight on our way to Yosemite and stayed in an executive suite. Very comfortable and clean. Receptionist was very obliging and helpful. Rates very good, I think we were given an upgrade. Rate included breakfast, very good value for money. Suite was clean. Our suite was very quiet, though aircon in room a little noisy. Overall would recommend.
We stayed at the Sonora Oaks Hotel over Labor Day weekend and found the place quite comfortable. We had an adjoining room next door that proved to be a bit noisy when people moved in or had loud conversations. Other than that the room was great and more than adequate - a micro wave, a mini-fridge. We were on second flood (no elevator). Hotel could use some refurbishing but it was clean and front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. Included breakfast was at Pine Cone Restaurant next to hotel - serving until 11am -- plus lunch and dinner. Plan to stay at Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel when in the area again.
The hotel is easy to find and the staff is welcoming at the reception. Rooms are clean and large. In the morning you can enjoy a complimentary full breafast at the diner restaurant near the hotel. Parking space available. Good quality for the price.
My wife and I got away from the Bay Area during a recent heatwave and decided to spend the night here. While the weather was almost as warm here, the room, hotel, and people made it a great choice. We are very glad that we stayed here. Great staff, very comfortable rooms, nice setting.
About 2 hrs from Yosemite Valley. Very clean and spacious room. Restaurant next to hotel where you get a delicious breakfast. Front desk very helpful. Hot tub felt great after hiking in Yosemite. Would recommend for a stay in the Sonora area
I tend to gravitate to known chain hotels when I travel in order to avoid unpleasant surprises. This hotel fit the bill for a recent trip I took with my 85 year old Mom. This Best Western was a typical chain hotel room and that's exactly what we wanted. The room was large and clean, and pleasantly decorated. We had two queen beds and our room was in the rear of the building with a door that opened to the outside, close to an ice machine. The beds were comfortable and each had four pillows. We were told this was an "executive Room". I don't know how that differs from a typical room but it contained a microwave and mini-fridge, as well as a desk and occasional chair. The bathroom was large with granite counter tops, and a small granite dressing area and mirror outside the main bathroom. The bathroom was neither new nor ancient, and was very clean. The ground level room ( the hotel is two stories) had a small patio outside which was a bit away from the road and had a small bistro table and two chairs. It would have been nice to have a small glass of wine out there had we come prepared. We had requested a quiet location and that is what we got. Parking appeared to be plentiful, although we were there mid-week. There is a small bar-b-q area for guests outside. There is a fitness center and a conference room, neither of which we had reason to visit. I saw many people dressed coming and going to the pool, but never made it there myself. There was a "Managers Reception" the night we arrived with free wine. We did not attend, but it was nice to know it was offered, on certain nights of the week. . As we were not familiar with the area I found it necessary to ask the front desk staff for directions several times. They were patient and helpful, providing maps and written notes and directions off the internet in order to help us. They also divulged the location of several nearby fast food places when we expressed an interest in finding one.The landscape was a bit desert Spartan, but given the heat there in the summer they probably have no alternative. A free breakfast voucher is given to you for each night of your stay. The restaurant is adjacent to the hotel across from the lobby, and convenient.
This place has everything you would expect and need from a hotel at $80-90/night - the only problem is that they charge $140/night! The rooms and beds are fine, but then they are in regular Quality Inns as well at half the price. We arrived after a long day on the road and went straight to the restaurant for dinner - at 8:30 PM but the waitress assured us that last orders were at 9:00PM so no problem. We ordered by 8:40 and busied ourselves with the salad bar & a couple of glasses of wine till about 8:55 when our meals arrived. So far so good but by 9:05 the staff had all the other chairs on the tables and kept asking us "If everything was OK" - maybe 6 times! Clearly they wanted us out so they could quit ASAP. We were made to feel very uncomfortable, by about 9:20 their "Bum's rush" tactics had us beat and we quit. The best bit about the place was the "free" (i.e. included in the $140) breakfast which was pretty good.
Stayed here twice for Business with nearby hospital. On the 1st trip I was given a room at the back of the hotel, which meant exiting the hotel and entering my room from the back parking lot. I was uncomfortable with the setting, and my other team members offered to swap rooms, (one was on the inside-hallway) the other was even further back) I thought the rooms were dingy and dark looking so opted to stay put for the 2 nights we were there. I slept surprisingly well though. This next time around, I wanted to stay at the Black oaks casino hotel but being a Christian and totally not believing in gambling, I prayed about it and went back to BW. This time I requested a "hallway" room and was pleased with everything except the internet was slow at times and the pillows too hard for my taste. Otherwise good stay. I would stay again.
We had a great stay in Sonora. The room had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the nearby restaurant across the parking area was really good. Staff were all really friendly. Pool was lovely and appreciated on a hot afternoon. We explored Sonora town and drove to Calavares State Park from here which was around 30 miles away through some spectacular scenery. Thanks for a great stay.
this is a very nice hotel close to pinecrest,, black oak casino and downtown Sonora. There is a restaurant on the premises where you get a free breakfast that was outstanding. The scenery from our room was beautiful trees, Very peaceful. Would stay here again for sure
We were there for a couple days of R&R. Location and price were great. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. We spent a little time at the pool which was enjoyable. Most of our time was spent exploring Sonora and the surrounding areas. I would recommend going to the Indigeny property and tasting room. Great place!!!
The best thing about this hotel is the location as is relatively close to Yosemite and other parks as well. The hotel looks as it started with one building and gradually built some other which means that all the amenities are in the first building. Not that the pool and the jacuzzi are that great but is better if you don't have to drive there. We arrived very late as we had issues with the GPS and got the last room which was not was I reserved but after 8 hours of driving I had no energy to start a fight as it was obvious that there were no other rooms available. This particular room is adjacent to the highway plus could use a little deep cleaning. The gym was less than ok but did the trick, however you have to ask for a separate key. The best thing about the hotel is the breakfast which has some options and it shows that they strive to do a good job. The staff at the restaurant was extremely nice. Also, is fairly close to Yosemite 1 hour and 15 minutes to the park but it does not count the extra 30-40 minutes to get to the visitors center from the entrance
Was supposed to be a suite but basically just two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The hallways had an awful smell and the rooms had a different unpleasant smell. Expensive because it's the first city outside of Yosemite with chain hotels. Offered a nice breakfast at a restaurant nearby instead of continental breakfast.
Stayed here on our way out of Yosemite/on the way back to San Francisco. Clean and comfortable rooms, excellent made to order breakfast, and complimentary drinks/appetizers in the afternoon. Very pleasant service/hotel staff. Would stay again!
Great place to stay if you're planning on gold panning for a weekend like my son and I recently did. The Jacuzzi is a bonus after a day of digging, and the breakfasts are full meals, which is another nice feature. Clean, quiet rooms as well. W e'll stay here again on our next trip to get the gold!
The hotel was nice and clean and staff was friendly. We came from Yosemite and it is further to get to than your might think or want. Do NOT take the short cut through the back roads that your gps might suggest. Not only did it take us longer but it was very remote, one lane, curvy and twisty road. The breakfast was amazing.
The Staff was fabulous!! Extremely helpful :), we really enjoyed our stay. My dogs were happy with the treats that the hotel gave us. Rooms are very clean and the amenities perfect. We were tired after a long day at Yosemite, and the front desk lady made us feel welcome.
had a great couple of nights here, great value for money, super helpful staff, did their best and gave us a room nicely located near the pool. Got a complementary breakfast, even serving gluten free toast for my wife. Good wifi. Overall very satisfied
I have to admit, when I booked this hotel sight-unseen through Trip Advisor, I was skeptical. I just needed a bed and hot shower after spending the day in Yosemite. I was pleasantly surprised when my family pulled into the hotel and were greeted by extremely friendly front-desk folks. When we got to our room, our feel-good surprise fest continued. The room was clean and spacious! We had the king suite, which meant a huge separate bedroom with comfy king bed (i joked the room was so big I had a hard time seeing the TV on the opposite wall). The living room was also large with modern-era pull out sofa bed (no uncomfortable bar gouging your lower back). We were invited to enjoy a complimentary happy hour in the fireside room (all guests receive this invitation). Hotel staff recommended excellent eating and site-seeing options for us during our very brief stay. We decided that we must return to the Sonora location when we have more time to explore. When we do, we will most definitely stay at the Best Western Sonora Oaks...you should too!
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I had the American breakfast and my wife had the waffles and fruit. Good coffee too. Well worth the money for an overnight stay with a visit to the Casino All very good Thank you
Traveling with 4 grandkids ages 3 to 9 can be trying at times, but there were no issues at all with this hotel! The staff was welcoming, offered complimentary beverages when our room wasn't quit ready, and the suite we booked worked well for our needs. The hotel is older, but clean and comfortable. The on-site restaurant serves good basic fare, and the wait staff is phenomenal.
Very helpful staff and did the best they could. But significantly overpriced for what you get. The photos online are deceiving. Pretty dirty carpet. Best were comfortable and there is a free breakfast but that's about it.
Clean room, great staff, discounts available if you're an AARP member or AAA. I recommend joining Best Western's loyalty program. This Best Western was one of the better run ones. Just check Trip Advisor to find out which ones aren't. Their on-site restaurant is very good as well.
Stayed overnight with husband as we were passing through. Room very good, with good size bed. Bathroom had bathroom freebies if needed. Would of given this a 5* but air con in room too loud. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice & friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. We wish we'd had time to look around the town, as it looked very welcoming.
The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when we asked about local dining when it was time for dinner, things to do during the day and especially in regards to my daughter's service dog. We will gladly be staying with them again!
This hotel would not give a refund of any kind out of cancellation window when I and my daughter could not make it due to having the flu. The front desk clerk said since we did not book directly with them they couldn't do a refund (even though they verified they were already paid by the booking company). I called the booking company who said the hotel just has to let them know and they would gladly start a refund process. The booking company put me on hold and called the hotel, they still refused refund. This hotel is heartless. I would have paid a cancellation fee, but they think it's ok to keep entire amount of the room. I am sure they resold my room as it was a Saturday night. Bad customer service. Getting sick was beyond our control.
Great staff! Close to the highway for easy travel through the area. We checked in after a long, long day on the road. The staff was helpful and polite. We would stay here again. The breakfast was very good. It was also a restaurant for lunch and dinner. Very handy! The cinnamon rolls were to die for.
The room was large, beautify furnished, clean, comfortable bed and a little patio. Would have loved to stay longer. We will use this hotel again when we are in the area. I highly recommend this property for your next vacation.
We stayed two nights at sonora oaks and it was great!!! The staff is the best there is!!!! All hotels should take training from this group! The hotel is very nice and very clean! We will definitely be back! Special thank you to front desk staff Josiah! He went out of his way to make everything perfect for our stay!
Our dog who is a little yorkie doesn't like the 4th of July fireworks, so we took him to be away from the stress and commotion, he enjoys this place very much, so the hotel provided a great place as well as rest and relaxation for us during this time and also the restaurant is very good.
Nice hotel. Room is clean and spacious. Worth the price they are taking. An excellent place for sleepover. They even have a pool The people at the hotel are curtious and helpfull. Stayed there on the way to yosemite. They have packed breakfast.
Pros This is an old facility that has nowhere for their free breakfast so they give you a coupon for a free breakfast at the restaurant beside the hotel. There are several choices on the coupon & food was very good. Outdoor pool was great temperature & clean. We had an unresolved issue with our first floor pet accommodation room that opened to the outside so we ask to be moved to the second floor. Katie from front desk took care of us quickly. She appeared genuinely sorry for our inconvenience. Good location to Yosemite. Cons This is a pet friendly facility so if you don't want to be in a room that had a pet, ask for the second floor. But be aware there is NO ELEVATOR. NOTE some of their rooms open to the direct outside like older hotels.
This Hotel was a great find after as long day of traveling and was easy to find. The rate was good and the restaurant was an excellent place for dinner that night and the breakfast the following morning ( which was comped ) was a full sit down breakfast.
There was a complication with our arrival and early check-in. The staff saw to it that we were made comfortable while things got ironed out. We felt that we were genuinely liked by every employee we encountered (they give a real smile). That carries a lot of weight with me. Food and service was very good!
Great service, nice room, good breakfast, beautiful spot for a hotel. I really enjoyed our stay here and wish it could have been longer. The room was nice and clean, lobby staff friendly and the breakfast staff were very nice. We were waited on and the waitress was great. Thumbs up!
Stayed here on our way out of Yosemite. It is a motel at best. You pay prices comparable to a hotel in the $200 and breakfast is free for only two people staying in the room. They charge more for two queen beds instead of King but then tack on more $$ for the breakfast if there are more than two people in the room. If you arrive and the front desk personnel is nice they may give you a pass and charge you less but beware there are some who are nasty, It would be understandable if they offered just two vouchers and then let you decide if you want to pay for the others but they do not allow this. You are forced to pay for a breakfast that is mediocre and has the most rude staff you will ever encounter. They know they have a hostage audience so they do not even try. The location brings them all their business so they put zero effort into customer service.
Arrived during a heat wave in the Bay Area and found we were located near the pool. Very nice, clean room with great staff. We received VIP breakfast vouchers and were very happy. The restaurant was ok and could have used a more thorough cleaning - dust and cobwebs in pine cone light fixtures above the booths. One booth has a table that is lopsided, so the next day we used a different table. The food was good - actually, my husband loved the chicken fried steak and my grandson was very happy with his cinnamon roll for breakfast, which was huge! Since I was working and had to leave before the restaurant was open I received a Road Runner breakfast sandwich - an English muffin, bacon, egg and cheese sandwich to go. It was DELICIOUS. The hotel offeres a reception on Tuesday and Thursdays - you should go... Nachos, meatballs, olives and pickles were served, along with drinks. There were many people, some from different countries, and it was a very nice event. During this reception a couple mentioned the snow up at the Sonora Pass, so we got in the car and went. It was a time with the grandkids - a time I'm sure they'll remember.
The staff and appearance of the motel was good. The rooms where clean and refreshing. There wasn't much to do in the location of the motel in walking distance. The area seam to be fairly safe and quite.
Good location, ambiance, comfort - all hotel amenities were excellent. The front desk staff needs to be more flexible and try to accommodate customer needs. I don't feel they are customer friendly. We were satisfied with everything about the property except the experience we have just about overtime we check-in. This has not improved over the 13 years we have stayed here.
So nice to have the restaurant close by. Very friendly staff. The location was wonderful!!! It might be nice to have an elevator for those who have trouble navigating stairs. Very quiet room. Easy parking too.
We enjoyed staying at this hotel. We arrived on our motorcycle and the bike was safe and secure in the parking lot. We spent the weekend riding around Yosemite Valley, primarily Hetch Hetchy, which is amazing and we didn't have to deal with the crowds of Yosemite. Hiked up to the waterfalls, which is a must! Our stay at the hotel included a full breakfast at the restaurant on site and it was very good! The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Pillows are a little lumpy. We will be back!
Enjoyed stay Best Western Sonora Oaks Breakfast in Restaurant on adjoining property. Very good selection of items for breakfast and service was very good. Recommend this hotel with high rating. Enjoyed the welcome guest activity with wine and appetizers.
The staff were wonderful. the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. My wife and I sat out in the balcony relaxing while sipping on wine and listening to the birds sing. We had a fireplace in our room which made the evening very soothing, relaxed and romantic. We had a great time getting in touch with each other's feelings.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The staff is nice, the rooms are spacious and clean, the area is good, the beds are comfortable, and the air conditioning works really well. The rooms are a bit noisy as you can definitely hear your neighbors and the breakfast is just OK but overall this place is excellent value for the money. Also they have a conference center and printer for printing boarding passes which is really helpful. I would certainly stay here again.
We were greeted by friendly and helpful front staff. I was immensely pleased to find my favorite tea in the lobby. They provided the information we needed for the night in Senora. Our quiet room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was available early, served quickly and most satisfying. We hope to return again.
Excellent breakfast, quiet rooms and comfortable bed. Pillows are small, but will do. Very clean! Our room faced the back (south) and had a balcony with a small table and chairs with a fantastic view of the big oaks. We don't do wifi, but it is offered. Nice tv, or just listen to the birds.
The room was very clean and quiet. The restaurant attached to the hotel had a very good food selection and the food we ordered was very good. The breakfast selection that comes with the cost or the room was very nice and the food was very tasty. The service at the restaurant and the hotel were both very good.
We stayed here thinking it was close to Yosemite and Sonora. It is not in the charming town of Sonora, nor is it close to Yosemite. Its an hour and a half from the park. Other than that it was clean and comfortable. *If you have AT&T there is little to no service, especially inside the motel.
Stayed two nights with friends on a road trip. Great service and advice, comfy beds with a good selection for breakfast. Mobile had no signal, the reception called a cab, no problem they could not do enough for you. Resturant across the road where you had to go for breakfast was great. Good service and selection. Need a car to the town, Washington street where there are a few restaurants and a couple of bars, cheap at 10 dollars!!
This is one of the more reasonably priced rooms as close as you can get to Yosemite, which is still not close. The room was very quiet and comfortable. The free breakfast choices at the near on site restaurant were excellent. Downtown Sonora is a great little town. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Clean, very comfortable beds, we stayed in the newer section, very quiet, enjoyed the little patio out the back. Loved the pool and hot tub, very well maintained.complimentary breakfast was surprisingly delicious.
We've stayed here twice on vacation & the hotel has always been well accommodated & clean. The staff, especially Nora and Darnelle at the front desk go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome & have everything they need. The hotel was also quiet and the breakfast next door is good. This is our go to spot in Sonora.
Staff was very friendly, the room was nice and breakfast was one of four choices at the adjacent restaurant. Very nice! The only negative was the lame TV remote which didn't have much of a range and was super slow. But that's minor.
Nice hotel. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms not fancy but clean and had a small refrigerator and microwave. There is an evening managers reception with appetizers, beer, wine, and soft drinks. Chris was very friendly greeting guests as they entered the reception and checking tables during evening to refill your glass and be sure you were having a good time. The next morning there was a complimentary full breakfast at the restaurant next door. Good value for the $120 price we paid for the night. Centralized hotel for the area, downtown Sonora, Columbia, Angles Camp, Yosemite, Pine Crest, Murphys and many other quaint towns to explore in the area. Would stay again when in area.
This hotel is an unexpected treasure a few hours drive of Yosemite within the quaint town of Senora. Everything far exceeded my expectations: from booking with Nora, who made sure I received a wine basket and reserved a room with a view of wooded area at the best rate possible, to the free and well supplied Happy Hour Thurs, to the cleaniness and size of the room (with microwave + fridge), to the included breakfasts - no wimpy fruits and cereal here, only full bore American style breakfasts with all the trimmings, to the friendliness and responsiveness of reception like Josiah when I checked in who also gave me great local sightseeing tips (e.g. historic Columbia mining town). I really felt welcomed and comfortable here. Their free wifi worked well and their gym, although small, was more than adequate for a quick workout. You can even order breakfasts to go if you have no time for full service at the on-site but separated restaurant, and the quality of the food was very good. Even something as trite as their clock provided unexpected comfort in that it provided 'white noise' choices of wind chimes, babbling brook, or ocean sounds besides the typical 'radio/alarm'. I got hooked on the babbling brook, which made my slumber more sound and also enjoyed the chimes playing on the day I worked from the room. This BW is also convenient to several outlet malls and yet somehow feels like an oasis since it's 'hidden' in a wooded area off the main road. The only drawback is no elevator to upper floor, but that's relatively minor, and I'm trying to think of anything else that was bothersome but really can't. I've stayed all over the world for work and in some very luxurious hotels, but honestly they aren't as 'friendly' an atmosphere and basically all creature comforts are provided for here without being over the top (in cost either). I would definitely recommend this to friends/family!! And plan to stay again if up in that area in the future. Thanks!
Hotel is fine but pricey. Stayed on way back from Yosemite. Service staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is average. The rooms were lean and comfortable . I enjoyed my stay but felt the hotel was expensive. It seemed like many of the hotels in that area were expensive as well.
This hotel has an older section and a newer section. We were in the newer section and it was very peaceful. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. The hotel is away from the downtown area, which in my opinion is a good thing as downtown can get congested and noisy. The restaurant on site, though not affiliated, is decent with friendly staff. The breakfasts are very good.
My friend and I stayed here for a weekend trip from the Bay Area. We rented the 2 Queen suite, but it was weirdly furnished so we didn't end up using the extra living room at all. Furniture is scarce and all pushed to the sides, leaving a barren room-- but if you want to do yoga, jumping jacks, or kickboxing I guess it would be ok. BYO hair dryer. We tried two and both kicked off within 15 seconds of turning them on- they have a safety setting that trips them off when they get too hot (because who would ever want a hot hair dryer right?) so we had to wait 5-10 minutes for it to "reset" before it would work again; so, it took more than an hour at that rate to dry my hair. Advice to management: get an interior designer and a better blow dryer.
The rooms were pretty nice. Beds were quite comfortable. They need better, firmer pillows. The pool looked very inviting, though we arrived later and left early. It was an outside pool. The man behind the counter upon arrival was a bit of a jerk, but the hotel itself was not bad at all.
This was a great hotel stay, The room was very clean and confortable and the staff was gracious and accomodating. The hot complimentary breakfast was a nice touch - no buffet lines with questionable eggs!
Even without a pet, this hotel is excellent for this category of hotel. Very comfortable, excellent staff, very clean and maintained rooms and property. If you have a pet, they don't seem to shove you in a dingy room in the back and it is one of the best Pet friendly hotels I have tried. The room was very comfortable and clean with all the routine amenities with a frig and microwave. Locations was within 10 miles of all the Sonora sights. Breakfast was included and it was at the restaurant adjacent to the property (< 70 yards) so the food quality was better than other breakfasts held in their lobby. Other meals were very reasonably priced with good portions and specials. Mostly comfort type foods. Food was good, but not great. Wait staff and hotel staff were professional and helpful. Pet fee is $20 more/night. Would be better if it was $10-15 Still definitely recommend especially if you have a pet. I would come back.
After a long day from Yosemite with car troubles, it was a pleasure to check in. We were allocated a double double room overlooking the pool. It was clean, well appointed, with comfortable beds. The staff at reception were pleasant and the booking was in order, and the complex easily explained. The pool was slightly warm, but the spa was the perfect temperature. To sit and relax. Looking forward to exploring the region now!
staff was friendly and offered extra help if we needed it. Our beds were lumpy! pillows were a joke ( extremely flat ). Our 1 st night stay was quiet and we had a good nite's rest, the 2nd night there was noise next door when the people came in late ( after 11:30pm ) and slammed front door and knocked things around the room with loud talking, 3 rd night was quiet again
Location is close by to ski resorts and Yosemite. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The front desk was courteous. For breakfast they serve at the restaurant in front which is quite good. Wish they would have more options.
This was a clean, comfortable hotel which included free breakfast at the restaurant on site. It is centrally located to many pioneer/gold rush historic sites. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great
The room was basic and OK. The air con was good. Dinner was OK/average. The dessert of tapioca was not really appetisiing. The Menued breakfast was OK with the usual omelettes. Don't forget to ask for your 'fresh fruits', or you won't be given.
Very clean hotel, with very friendly staff. Food at the resturant was good. No elevator for my wife who is partially disabled. Overall for the price that we paid this is a great choice for anyone coming or going to Yosemite. In the summer months they have a bus stop to take you to yosemite.
We had great service and a good time! The only issue was the refrigerator wasn't working. We discovered in the morning, that it had been unplugged!! They offer breakfast with your stay and have a full service restaurant and bar/lounge.
We checked into the Best Western after a harrowing drive down 108 in a huge snow storm without 4 wheel drive, so I was pretty stressed. We were greeted pleasantly, and after explaining our situation (we couldn't go home) Teresa at the front desk worked to find a lower rate for locals. It came out about $30 cheaper than the lowest internet rate I had searched for earlier. Then she gave us a bottle of wine (probably something they h ad leftover special from Thanksgiving holiday for guests) and was so pleasant and helpful, taking the edge off my stress level. The room itself was immaculate, large, and very comfortable. Internet connection was quick and easy, altho they also have a couple computers in the lobby to use for guests. The stay included a free full breakfast at the restaurant next door with four choices, or a $5 credit towards whatever we wanted on the menu. We were extremely pleased with EVERYTHING at this Best Western and highly recommend it to anyone coming to the Sonora area for a vacation.
Excellent place to stay! Great breakfast included on your stay at a really good restaurant next door Room are maintained in very good condition and the suites are amazing I'm coming back to Sonora and the Best Western it's my ONLY choice to stay at. Customer service are very helpful and knowledgeable of the area, really goood recommendations were made by all the staff
This hotel is one of the nicest best western hotels. Location is very good, and close to our customer. I would stay there again when I travel back to that area. Employees were nice too! The room was large, clean, and very quiet.
Summer who works at the front desk was more than helpful. She worked hard to asist any requests that we had made. There isn't a question that she knows all about the little things that makes a difference.
I had booked with Trivago, non refundable but made a mistake with the date. Lady at front counter matched the price and I was able to receive the original amount back from Trivago. Needed a bottle opener and one was given to me to keep.
This is a hidden gem in the woods. The place is clean, quiet, easy access on and off the highway and/or a major street with shopping, eateries, etc. The continental breakfast is a full breakfast (your choice of a few different items at the restaurant on the property) and the food is excellent. In the evening, the lounge attached to the restaurant is a lively local hot spot. It's a great place to stay overall.
Well appointed and all the amenities for our stay. Courteous staff and spacious room. Quiet. Complimentary breakfast selection was more than generous. Enjoyed the area and all the shops. We'd come back!!
After a six hour drive in a "Once in a decade" rainstorm, I was a little stressed to say the least. Upon arriving at Best Western I was greeted by an amazing woman named Summer. She made me feel so welcome and was so accomodating that I could feel my stress melting away. Summer put me in a room with a view of a courtyard full of trees with a creek. It was beautiful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable! The hot tub was nice and hot! I highly recommend staying at this hotel. P.S. Best Western, If you're listening...As much as I would hate to see Summer leave the front desk...You would be wise to promote her to a regional Manager or Director! Thanks again! Can't wait to stay with you guys again!
I was bringing a small tour group (11 of us) through with stops in Columbia (At the College and Historic State Park). Then the second day we went to Yosemite NP and returned that evening. Check-in was friendly and fast. Rooms were pretty standard. Bed was comfortable. Restroom was fine. The adjacent restaurant which is used for the free breakfast was ghastly, especially since were were there for dinner the first night as well. Food was awful, service was abysmal. As a larger group than a family (11) it's always harder, but just take my advice stay away. Eat at McDonalds a mile away for breakfast and you will be happier My service rating is marked down only because of the restaurant since breakfast was part of the room price. Excellent value for the price of the rooms.
hotel and staff very inviting.stayed at this hotel twice a year for the last 8 years. easy freeway access, restaurant on site breakfast included in stay. rooms very cozy. stores were close by as well as starbucks and fast food.
We were so tired when we got in and the staff was so pleasant and accommodating. They even sold me the pillow that I slept on, because I found it so comfortable. They offered directions, and recommendations for dining, as well as providing tickets for a wonderful full breakfast right next door.
We stayed at this venue and found it to be very pleasant. Our room was very large for the price we paid. Free wifi and excellent breakfast included at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel. The staff was by far a great touch. Their concern for our comfort was beyond anything I've experienced at other Best Westerns. I would easily stay here again!
We stayed at the Best Western Plus in Sonora, CA while visiting Columbia State Historic Park. Everything about our stay was perfect! Check-in was quick and the front desk attendant was extremely nice. An unexpected bonus was the complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres at the manager's reception after checking in. The room was very inviting, clean, updated and comfortable - best pillows we slept on while on our 10-day trip! My kids loved the heated pool and hot tub - the pool area was clean and well-kept. After a great night's sleep, we enjoyed our complimentary full breakfast at the restaurant across the parking lot from the hotel. You could choose from four different options - all included coffee, juice or hot cocoa. If you didn't like the choices given, you could receive $5 off anything on the regular restaurant menu. We found the complimentary options (eggs, omelette, etc.) more than satisfying. We would definitely stay at the Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks, if we ever visit the area again!
Great stay at this hotel, the pool, the fitness center, and the breakfast included, wireless free, clean,is all I can say, this elegant hotel ,has anything you want, I noticed they introduce a Sunday night live music, but quiet enough,to not disturb the guests of the hotel,,for me especially the furniture, the quality of sleep,it is better than some other resorts, and the elegance of the room,is also at high standards !close to every attractions in the area! And the location a little out of Sonora main street is ideal, but with choices of restaurant close to the hotel,or on the grounds the hotel has a restaurant and at night a bar !
Great place to stay on your way in or out of Yosemite National Park. We enjoyed our stay, but wished we had an extra day to go in some of the shops on the main street through town. This hotel is conveniently located near highway 108, just east of Sonora. For breakfast, we were given a voucher to use at the restaurant, good for a free breakfast (of three choices) or $5 off if choosing to order off the menu.
Nice rooms, quiet, out of town, but close enough to go into town if you want to. Good restaurant right next door. Not a gourmet restaurant, but better than a Denny's for example. Great selection of breakfast items.
love the staff and room comfort, love the coupon for breakfast at the restaurant, very friendly staff, the food was excellent, and love I can buy mints to help community, the cashier was so friendly and ask twice how was our meal
We stayed here while visiting Yosemite. The hotel and the rooms are nice, clean and adequate. We got free breakfast at the restaraunt attached. They are very busy in the morning and the staff can be rude.
We flew out from Waco Texas for our oldest daughters wedding this past weekend in Sonora and stayed at the Best Western. The service was first class, the room very clean, and the breakfast at the restaurant was five star. We do not get back to California often, but anytime we are in the foothills we will most definitely be back for another stay. Hats off Best Western Plus. Tim Toepfer Waco Texas
Been here twice . First time 3 ago years Sept 2013. Now in Sept. 2016. Both times very nice staff. We choose this to go hiking in Yosemite. Not knowing the area the first time we went here. Nice breakfast at a restaurant on site. Will be back again even though it is a drive to Yosemite. They have a bbq grill to cook out on which is nice. Thank you Best Western
We stayed here on our way from Yosemite to Placerville. Check in was very fast. Rooms were very clean. At check-in we were given a voucher for breakfast the next morning. There were at least 5 different selections to choose from.....all very good. I chose 2 eggs, bacon and hash brown potatoes, juice, and coffee. This was served at a restaurant on the same pemises as the motel....just a few feet away. We also ate lunch at this restaurant the day we arrived. Very good selection and reasonable prices. This motel looked new, and was in very good condition. I would definitely stay here again.
I stayed here for 2 nights in early October 2016. The room was clean and quiet on the second floor. The hotel gives vouchers for breakfast to use at the restaurant across the parking lot. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner and there is a bar/lounge next to it. The food was really good and very convenient to the hotel. The hotel also gave a voucher for a free glass of wine, beer or beverage with dinner at the restaurant. The hotel also offers a happy hour on Tues/Thur eve serving beer, wine and appetizers for free. Super deal! I would definitely stay here again.
Was in town for five days and the staff at the hotel us great. The rooms were fine and the bed very comfortable. The restaurant serves a great breakfast. I would stay again, but would request a first floor room. In order to be a "plus" Best Western, I would think it would have an elevator.
Stayed for 2 nights and couldn't have asked for anything better. Large clean room, breakfast at the restaurant included. Free wifi across the whole of the hotel, including the restaurant across the car park. On Tuesday an Thursday there is a managers reception where they put on some food and drinks for the guests, all free of charge. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here last two nights. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed visiting the restaurant. Someone informed us that the owners were Greek and we made a note to inform our Greek friends in Miami. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
We decided to get the most out of our Sunday in Yosemite and stay late. Instead of driving back to San Francisco we wanted to see the Giant Sequoias in Calaveras Big Trees State Park -the grove in Yosemite is closed. So we stayed here and it was wonderful. We checked in with the friendly desk staff who told us the pool and hot tub were opened until 10! We took a dip in both and went up to our very comfortable room. Nice size fridge, coffee maker and a little terrace overlooking the pool--room on the first floor would have been more convenient to the pool--it was cold! ?? The best surprise was the FREE hot served breakfast in the restaurant next door! Really generous and delicious! My husband and I had eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausage and our daughter had a Belgium waffle with fresh blueberry compote and whipped cream! All served with coffee and juice or fresh fruit cup! Really unexpected for the price we paid for the room. Excellent friendly servers too! They gave us more coffee to go! A great value! Would definitely stay again!!
We stayed in room 211 for 5 nights and were very pleased. Staff was great, breakfast was delicious, hot, and free! Beds were very comfortable which is usually an issue for my husband and I when we travel. No backaches at all. We are used to staying at resorts so I was a little nervous about staying at a hotel but it was perfect. Small fridge and microwave as well. We didn't mind the stairs and they offered us luggage assistance if we needed it. Already looking to book at another Best Western Plus next year in Baltimore.
My two daughters and I went on a trip to Yosemite National Park and we chose to stay outside of the park but close to drive back and forth from the hotel. Best Western Plus is the best place to stay for sure! We had breakfast each morning next door and it was part of the room cost... for free! We loved the comfy beds and all the things we were given to go with our room!
Rooms were clean , quiet, and very comfortable. We stayed in a two room unit, with two double beds and a sofa bed. Staff was very helpful and friendly We would definitely stay at this hotel again if future travel would bring us back to this area.
This hotel is in east Sonora, so you cannot walk to town. There is really nothing with in walking distance except the adjacent restaurant. We reserved a king suite as we were there three nights. The price was just a little more than a regular king room. Our room, 135, was in a separate building with about 6-8 other suites, half on the ground floor and the others upstairs. No elevator though. Our room was very large but the decor was sort of bland. We had two comfortable chairs to sit in, a desk with another chair, flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable. The only real issue with the room was the TV was a long ways from the bed making it hard to see. The desk and dresser with the TV on it need to be switched. Internet was a little slow, but WIFI was available for no charge. Just need the password. The bath area was large and bright. Large double door closet with iron and ironing board. Hair dryer also. There is a pool. The best part was the restaurant adjacent. We received vouchers for every morning we were there listing your choices for breakfast. Food was good and service quick.
We stayed here for just one day whilst on a coach tour of USA. We were very impressed with everything in the hotel. The rooms were superb. Big, all amenities, great beds and linen. Lovely bathroom. Huge TV, microwave, iron etc etc. The list goes on. We had a great meal in their restaurant that was great quality and very competitively priced. Then followed a great night in the bar for a night of Karaoke. Fab entertainment! Finish that off with a great complimentary breakfast and you have a superb all round hotel experience. Thank you Best Western - you really do have some super hotels in your group!
My wife and I recently enjoyed a two-night stay here. We used points we earned from the Best Western loyalty program to pay for both nights. Most everything about the motel and room were excellent. We had two very good complimentary sit-down breakfasts at the restaurant next door. Our main criticism of the motel is the lack of an elevator to the 2nd floor. As seniors, it was not easy to lug our baggage up and down the steep staircase.
Exceptionally helpful and friendly desk staff. Good complimentary breakfast at restaurant next door. Hotel a bit dated but definitely great value. My second time here and would return again if in this area.
Stayed here last night - very friendly check in from Summer, large room great shower. We had the Manager's Reception with snacks and drinks and then went and had dinner at the diner next door which was very good, we also had a free drink as staying at the hotel. Breakfast this morning was also in the diner and was great too. Very friendly staff. Spent some time at the pool area on arrival, great hot tub!!!
We enjoyed our stay in this clean, spacious, comfy hotel. It is well worth a repeat visit. The location is convenient for the Gold Country and as a stopping off point before heading to Yosemite. The sit-down, made-to-order breakfast was a bonus treat. A "YARTS" bus stop is on site if you want to save wear and tear on your car. Round trip bus fare to/from Yosemite Valley is about $25 per person.
Having lived in Sonora for many years we knew that the Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks hotel was respected as clean with excellent service. So we never thought about staying anywhere else when we return to the area to visit family and friends. That was until I waited to late to book a room and ended up at the The Gold Lodge in Sonora (across from the fairgrounds). First observation should have been enough but we actually looked in the room just long enough to turn around and get out. My wife said she would sleep in the car before she stayed there. I called Sonora Oaks in the off chance that there had been a cancellation and thankfully a room was available. I can't tell you how grateful my wife and I were to have a clean room. Not to mention how hospitable and great the staff was. Teresa was professional, friendly and made us feel like we were at home. To top it off it is next to one of the best restaurants for breakfast in the entire Sonora area. The breakfast (included) is much better that the hotels offering muffins and OJ.
Excellent staff and very comfortable rooms with all the amenities. Bed was very comfortable and room was very clean. Would recommend if in the Sonora area. Breakfast was excellent. Overall a very good experience and no surprises.
At check in the staff was very friendly and helpful. Suggested where to park the bike at the best location. The restaurant was very friendly and the breakfasts which came with the room was very good. My hotel room was close to the pool but the room was very quiet and restful.
Conveniently located near the sonora area. The check in was quick and the front desk personnel were polite and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The room also had a microwave, mini refrigerator and plenty of convenient plugs for electronics. The reason I didn't give them a higher rating is that the room was a little noisy in the morning the stairs to our room need to be replaced/repaired. There's a restaurant and bar on the property. Yes, I'll stay here again.
We stayed here as a base for our visit to Yosemite. The hotel is situated some distance out of Sonora and eating in the hotel was the best option. The hotel is a motel type hotel with the rooms centering around the swimming pool and reception and the Pine Tree restaurant and bar. Our room was large with two double beds and nicely furnished and had coffee maker and free Wi - Fi , but no in room safe which I always prefer to have. We were given two vouchers for a free drink in the bar and a free drink or pudding in the restaurant. All staff were very friendly and the evening meals were very well priced at about $15 each for a starter of soup or salad and steak/salmon/chicken for main and a rather strange pudding selection (jelly or chocolate blancmange or tapioca ???). The meals were ok but certainly not haute cuisine , more like a Harvester restaurant at home! The breakfast was very good with a good choice of eggs ,bacon, hash browns ,pancakes , fruit and waffles and coffee and fruit juice. There was a rather tired and old fashioned air about the place but the friendly welcome made up for any shortcomings and I would recommend it. They even had a Karaoke night on our first night with a good atmosphere in the bar.
My daughter and I along with my service dog stayed here for 5 nights. The room included a free voucher, with 4 choices for a free breakfast at the Pine Tree Restaurant. The desk person who checked us in was nice enough. The room had a microwave, a small fridge & single use coffee maker. Their was a meet & greet for guests that was fun with appetizers and beverages. The outdoor non-heated pool was shut down for remodeling and was never open during our long stay. We never got to use it.The room's (both) were outdated. Maintenance never came to fix the broken sink (in 4 days). The housekeepers were very nice. The General Manager, is/was very unprofessional! Our first room had access to the pool area. The air conditioner/heater to the room, through the wall which was next to the sliding glass door to the room's shared patio, directly across from the pool (ground level), allowed the cigar/cigarette smoker's smoke (on the shared patio and closed in surrounding area) to blow right into our room. I'm allergic. I spoke with the Mgr (left nameless) who sounded all good making promises of a room upgrade to an executive suite & 2 free nights, but after moving us across the complex to a room with a broken sink faucet forgot about us. The Mgr did not follow through with the said promises made. Our stay consisted of 5 night, one in the smoky room & 4 in the room with the broken faucet. So with that said I would not recommend this hotel. Customer service and honesty still mean something.
The rooms are large and clean!...free wifi and sit-down breakfast,*great patios!! nice and quiet and clean! rooms were great! * plenty of towels.. swimming pool ,jaquzzi and free parking. I would certainly stay here again. Hotel is close to shopping and restaurants but away from all of the congestion . We really enjoyed our stay.
My family and I stayed here as a base to go see Yosemite. The hotel staff were very helpful and service was great. The rooms were a decent size, not as modern as some places but I don't mind that. It has all the usual facilities including pool, spa etc and there was a restaurant that did breakfast (even though the waitresses could have smiled a bit more). There are a few restaurants close by for dinner however not in walking distance and they didn't stay open that late at night.
This hotel was a great fit for our family as we visited Pinecrest Lake and Yosemite! the suite room made our family stay very comfortable. We'd come back on a future trip to this area. The service at the hotel was very good.
3 of us stayed there recently for 2 nights in 1 room with 2 queen beds and the room was incredible and very spacious. It smelled so clean the minute we walked in. It had a frig, microwave, coffee maker, ironing board & iron. Very nice bathroom. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again. We also brought our pet with us.
I like Best Western hotels and this one was the best yet! Not only was it the right price for the weekend for 2 rooms, it was clean, comfortable and the staff were awesome! The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful throughout the entire stay. Even when we stayed at the pool later than their hours - the staff gave us a few extra minutes to get everything cleaned up. This may sound weird, but I loved the colors on the walls in the rooms. Not your typical hotel beige. The bathroom was a lovely shade of green. The beds were comfortable, the sheets soft, the pillows were great. Daily room cleaning was included and appreciated! Fridge and micro were clean. The grounds were neat. They have a gas grill available for guests to use, which we did, and had a wonderful dinner our first evening. Close to grocery store and CVS pharmacy. Hotel is in easy distance (~1hr) to Yosemite and all of the gold country towns. There is a restaurant/lounge in front of the hotel where you can get your breakfast that is included in your stay (4 free choices or pay if you want something off the menu). Staff there is great, too. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Stopped here for a quick night on the way to the airport. Check-in was very smooth and the room was more than adequate. Included breakfast at an onsite restaurant that was pretty good. Perfectly fine place to stay if you are in the area.
We stayed here on a trip to do gold panning with the kids before the start of school. Gary at CA Gold Panning recommended this, and it was a good one night stay option and just as expected. Reception was courteous and room was clean, though smelled strongly of air freshener. It was well maintained, if spartan. There was a larger than expected mini-frig that worked well. The on-property restaurant served a generous breakfast, and the staff was courteous and attentive. We didn't take a dip in the small pool or hottub, but it would have been a nice option if it was boiling hot. We came back from gold panning tired and dirty, and received a late checkout with no problem. If you are sensitive to noise, I'd ask for a room facing away from the highway. This is a good option for gold country adventure or on your way up to Yosemite.
Good Value, and it did the job just fine, The Pine Tree Restaurant breakfast was great and adds to the value. Good location and easy on and off the highway yet no traffic noise, would stay again, Loved Columbia State Park
My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway in the Sonora, California area. Finding a hotel room here is not easy, but we finally landed one at the Sonora Oaks Hotel. This is the first time we visit this hotel. The hotel has a few years on it, but it is well-maintained. The rooms are pretty basic, nothing extravagant, but not worn either. The hotel is several miles from the downtown area towards Twain Harte. This is a two-story hotel and there are no elevators. For those that need them I would suggest asking for a lower level room. Our room was on the second level overlooking the swimming pool, and it was enjoyable sitting out on the balcony (yes, there is a balcony) and enjoying the summer evening, while people were swimming in the pool below. There is a restaurant across the parking lot (easy walking distance) for breakfast, lunch, dinner or evening drinks. Not fancy, but very well priced. There are grocery stores nearby, but will involve getting into a car. Also many other restaurants are nearby, involving a car. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the Sonora area. Once again, nothing fancy but not bad. Make reservations early during the high season.
very friendly staff, clean rooms, and wonderful managers reception.very nice flowing trail on the backside of the property.if you leave your window or sliding glass door open you can here rosters in the morning, nice comfortable feeling !
BW Sonora is a great place to stay. Situated comfortably in a nice area near highway and there are lots of restaurant place to go as well as fast foods. There is a safeway neaby also and downtown Sonora would be a nice place to walk around at. Their breakfast area is fabulous (a plus) comparable to Denny's and other good cafes. The waitress is helpful and friendly as well as the front desk receptionists. So far the best BW I've ever stayed at.
When we were greeted, we were asked if it was a special occasion and it was my birthday. A few minutes later she came out with a bag full of pretty tissue paper and inside was a nice bottle of red wine, some chocolates and cashews. A very unexpected surprise. We had a nice room with a balcony facing the trees. Loved the restaurant on property , where we received a complimentary free breakfast, that was cooked to order and delicious. It also offered room service, we ordered our dinner all 3 nights, the food was fantastic. Especially loved Stella, who took care of us in the restaurant and her husband who did the cooking!
For a stop on the road trip we do not expect very much for staying a couple of nights. But this place is a comfortable, clean, supplying more things than expected. The breakfast is served at the nearby restaurant with several choices. The staff here is very very friendly. The surrounding is beautiful. The road from the Yosemite was full of ups and downs and curves and it provides gorgeous view.
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was clean and well managed. The hotel staff were extremely helpful during our stay. I would recommend the Best Western Conference Center to anyone visiting in the Sonora area. The hotel is also a stop for a (YARTS) bus shuttle to Yosemite National Park. This made it very convenient for us to travel to the park without concern for parking (we learned ahead of time this was a big challenge during the summer).
Located outside sonora, comfortable rooms, clean spacious bathroom, balcony. Small but clean pool. The complementary breakfast at the neighbour restaurant was great! Also the 49'er bar whith karaoke show and cheap beer was not to be missed!
Gorgeous location in California, we stopped here for two nights before continuing through Yosemite. Our room was massive with excellent facilities including fridge, microwave and kettle. Motel style self contained room. The pool facilities was excellent with lovely warm outdoor jacuzzi, it was fairly quiet when we stayed so pretty much had full use to ourselves! Friendly staff in bar/restaurant. Room was very clean. Small selection of shops / restaurants in the village of Sonora, lovely unspoilt quiet place - bliss!!
This is actually a motel but we had a very good overnight stay after leaving Yosemite. Good size rooms, well equipped and comfy beds. Really nice staff. Complimentary breakfast is at the cafe next door and was excellent.
Spend a night here during a summer road trip. The hotel and rooms are old and tired and the front desk staff took forever to check-in people. However, breakfast at the adjoining restaurant (included in the price of the room) was very good.
This was our first time staying at a Best Western Plus and it will not be our last. The staff was wonderful, the beds were comfortable, the room was clean and breakfast was included! We were very surprised and pleased to go down to breakfast and have so many options and good food! This isn't just your standard selection of stale pastries that many hotels try and pass off as a "Continental Breakfast". It was superb!
We stayed here on 4-5 August 2016 in an executive king room. We had a minor problem with the room and were delighted by the way the manager handled our complain. He immediately moved us to another executive king room. This made of our stay a wonderful experience. Spacious room, good bed, good wifi, enough parking space. Nice! Loved the breakfast too. I recommend this hotel to anybody who plans to visit the Gold Country.
This place was so much better than I expected! Very clean. Carpet looked and smelled new. Very nice staff (one of them called just to make sure we were comfortable!). And a real breakfast, from the on-site restaurant, for each day of stay.
Hotel is close to Columbia Historic State Park which we wanted to visit. Hotel is great and staff was excellent. We arrived late in the evening and they went above and beyond in recommending places to eat, even giving us printed maps. However, for breakfast you have to go to the restaurant next door. Breakfast was not very tasty and the bacon was greasy. Also limited selection on breakfast items.
wonderful hotel with great food choices & service, managers cocktail party made it worth the stay. I had originally wanted to stay closer to Yosemite but found that area much too expensive, with too few good hotel choices. The Best Western was a little pricey for me, but after having a real breakfast & a free glass of wine and the mangers cocktail party it helped with the cost of what I would have spent to enjoy these amenities.
Our room was spacious. One issue was that there is a cracked floor tile in the bathroom (near the door). We stayed in room #251. We also tried to save water by having our towels reused for our second day. When we came back to our room, some of the towels were actually swapped out.
We went there after visiting Yosemite. It is a very comfortable hotel with well appointed rooms The reception staff were helpful . We ate both dinner and breakfast in the hotel and it was absolutely fine if not particularly memorable.
We had 2 nights in this hotel. The location is good if you missed out on all the accomodations in Yosemite. It is about an hour drive back to the park. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Basic, but had everything we needed. The restaurant is just by the hotel, but a separate building. It was a bit of a shame when it was raining, but no big deal. The food was lovely and large portions. The best thing was that the hotel is PET FRIENDLY!!! Housekeeping was very efficient and quick.
We stayed at the Best Western in San Francisco, which was ok, so this place exceeded our expectations. The place looks nice upon arrival. Above average tourist hotel with large and very nice and convenient rooms. Double queen beds, a great shower and very friendly staff. Breakfast was included and the hotel has free wifi. The pool was open till 10 pm, which was nice after a long day of travel/sight seeing.
Stopped in whilst on a yosemite trip. The staff were helpful and friendly and the rooms clean and well furnished. The beds were comfy and has all the amenities you'd expect such as AC, internet and a pool. There is also lots of parking available and the place is easy to find. A convenient eatery nearby too that is decent in quality. There were some issues however in that the AC was very loud and made clunking noises, not a deal breaker for me but may irrirate others. Furthermore the water ehilst drinkable is very highly chlorinated so might put off some people. The internet is also patchy in quality. Nothing listed took away from how much of a pleasent stay it was however. Overall I recommend if you're travelling to yosemite or need a rest stop.
Great experience, friendly staff, layout of ground makes it easy and quick to get wherever you want to go. Offer a variety of views, either a wooded area or pool side. Restaurant and bar on site. Tables/chairs scattered around the compound for ease of get together's for a glass of wine in the evening should you be so inclined. Central location so easy to get wherever you want to go
Excellent place to stay. Beds were comfy, pool was clean, and breakfast was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and prompt. Location was ideal for our purposes. The hotel was near everything but not in the middle of hustle and bustle.
This hotel is great for a stop en route from San Fransisco to Yosemite. It serves a splendid breakfast, not the default continental buffet, but a choice of 4 different menus at it's restaurant. The rooms have what you need, and the staff is friendly, and parking is easy. The hotel is located about one-and-a-half hour drive from Yosemite Valley.
We've stayed here 3 or 4 times now. This is a good, clean and quiet stopover for travelers on their way to Yosemite or up Sonora Pass. Breakfast at the adjoining restaurant is a good, and included in the room price. The front desk is efficient and helpful. Rooms are a little tired and the yellow paint in ours was pretty striking. But the beds are good and the linens are clean.
Outdated. Poor Quality. EXPENSIVE. NO INTERNET!!! Would highly recommend going somewhere else. The only plus about this hotel was that it included a full restaurant breakfast, however the quality of the breakfast was not good.
After leaving San Francisco via Mur woods we stopped at this hotel in Sonora oaks. For a stop over this hotel was ok with good wifi and ac. Breakfast was complimentary and was of a good standard. This breaks the drive to Yosemite before you head to Las Vegas.
We normally stay at Bed and Breakfasts when visiting the Gold Country. We decided to try the Best Western in Sonora this time. We got a good rate (through Trip Advisor) and a very nice room near the Pool. The room was clean and comfortable. Very nice beds. The AC worked almost too well which was nice as it was a hot weekend. The bathroom was nice and clean. The shower was wonderful. Very strong. I hate when you have a shower that you have to run around just to get wet. This one was just like home. The breakfast is with the Pine Tree restaurant which is in the parking lot. They offer a choice of 4 different menu items or if you like they give a $5.00 discount on anything else on the menu. We chose the Classis Breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast) which was very good and considering it was free, very filling. In summary, this was a very nice stay and would highly recommend this Hotel.
Loved this hotel. Very clean and upon check-in, I was exhausted from working on a house all day long that my husband and I just purchased. Jokingly, I asked the girl who was checking me in, "do you think that restaurant will give me a glass of wine to go?". She said, "hold-in" and brings me a care package with a bottle of wine, two wine glasses and two bags of nuts. It was the sweetest thing that she did and I was so appreciative of her!!!
The hotel overall has a nice appearance. Our room was a good size, good layout in general. We did not feel cramped in any way. The was also a small deck outside (we were on the second floor) with a view of the trees, this was a nice feature. However, the bathroom had a VERY noisy fan, that went on automatically every time you turn the light on, the sound was very annoying. This light/fan is also very dated in appearance, and the noise indicates its age as newer ceiling fans are very quiet. The workmanship regarding installation of the granite bathroom counter, shower surround etc was SHODDY. The shower curtain was old and the fabric pilled and pulled. The decor room itself was fine, but nothing special. Considering this is a BW "Plus" hotel I was underwhelmed, and I was not happy to pay $200/night for an average room and substandard bathroom.
We stayed here for some much needed rest before our adventure in Yosemite. It is approximately an hour from park. A flood had pushed us to the north entrance so that is why we drove up north. Good hotel in small, quiet town. Breakfast is minimal but free parking and on Main Street in town. Easy to get to.
An enjoyable 3 days at this hotel as part of a tour of California. Hotel facilities were all in order, room was clean, pool was small but clean. We visited Yosemite; it's quite a long drive but there aren't many quality places nearer so this is a good base.
The price of $ 179.99 per night for a standard room with 2 queen beds is just to high. The idea that we had room to park a truck and trailer is nice. Even though we have to back out, and tie up the parking lot access for about 5 minuets, for the other guests.
Room 114 was extremely noisy all night long, from the refrigerator, air conditioning unit, and icemaker in the hallway outside the room. In addition, flies were buzzing around and we had to kill several in the room! I reported the noise and fly problems at checkout. The reply about the fly problem was "this entire area has a fly and mosquito problem." The response about the noise problem was nobody has reported your room to have a particular problem with noise, but the conference room area rooms are quieter, but they cost more money." I would not recommend this hotel for the above reasons.
Very clean and in a nice area. Loved the free breakfast. The pool and spa were nice too. The only problem was that there was not and elevator and we were on the second floor. Not easy carrying up the luggage.
The staff was courteous, helpful and accommodating. The shower had instant hot water. The breakfast was at a small attractive full restaurant location on the premises with a choice of three separate full breakfast minus which were served at the table. This would be a wonderful trip in the fall when all the trees are in color.
Nice hotel. The room was clean, bed comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The free breakfast at the restaurant next door was frosting on the cake. Although we did not use the pool, there was a view from our room. It was also very quite.
The broken shower handle was repaired immediately, but then the shower was only lukewarm. Given that the handle was broken before we arrived (it came off in my hand), we had to wonder whether the tub was cleaned between the last guests and us. We paid a premium for a nice room. We probably should have saved our money and found a cheaper place. On the up side, the free breakfast at the restaurant was lovely.
friendly staff (Summer made our life easier), convenient location, clean rooms, breakfast was good but not buffet so you need to order one item of the menu, small but clean pool, big TV but not many free channels to watch, vending machine at the lower level, there is a mall around there so it's easy to shop for food, Wifi was free but really slow.
The hotel is good, friendly staff (specially Summer), food was good but restaurant staff not so much, convent location, small but clean pool, a little pricey but worth the money, room was clean, not so many TV channels options, vending machine at the lower level
The hotel was clean, convenient in and out to highway, and the staf was friendly and helpful. The outside area was clean, safe and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and pool area, The pool was clean and comfortable, The pet gift was a surprise and very thoughtful of the staff, The microwave and the refrigerator was well used and it was very clean,
The BW hotel was the best in this area. A good view looking inside and from outside the hotel in mountain area. But its compliment breakfast was not a normal and valuable as other BW Plus somewhere else. It was very limited having foods on dish as expected in order. Hotel may be give customer a full hot breakfast as the same as a traditional Plus breakfast. of BW Plus.
The reason for my rating is the remoteness of the hotel. The on-site restaurant was okay for breakfast, but not very good for dinner. After a long day a work, I just want to pick something up quick. But it is hard to park the work rig anyplace, so I normally like to walk. But there is no place even close and I wasn't going to walk far in the 102? heat. They need to have a complimentary shuttle to downtown.
I loved this place. Free breakfast at the restaurant which was good. My husband told the front desk that it was our anniversary and they arranged to have a complimentary wine basket waiting in our room, which was a surprise to me. The room was very clean and the sheets were clean and felt good. We had a large flat screen TV and the refrigerator was clean. The room and furniture was nice.
Motorcycle parking(5 bikes) right outside room window(6 feet away). Loud and aggravating. Friendly Housekeeping staff. Indifferent Front Desk staff upon check-in. Restaurant was good. Ice machine broken.
The hotel is not too bad with two big beds. Quality of stay is comfortable. I'm not sure if there are elevators but I stayed on the second floor and took the stairs which included carrying the luggage up. Downside: there are lots of flies and bugs outside the room if you stay at the outside area. Off your lights before you open the door then the flies will not fly into your room.
My husband and I stayed her during our three trip through California. The front desk staff were friendly and the room was clean. There was nothing that made it stand out as great or wowed me. It was simply a good clean place to stay. There is a restaurant that shares the same parking lot called the Pine Tree Restaurant. You get a voucher for breakfast here where you can order from a select menu or receive a discount if you order from their regular menu. The complimentary breakfast had decent choices so we were fine with it. The hotel didn't tell us about a special beverage offering if you go for dinner. I actually overheard a waitress at another table ask the people if they were staying at the hotel and she informed them. When I got back to my room and looked over the papers I had received upon check in I read about but it would have been nice to have been told that there was discount information about the restaurant with the things I had received. No big deal really just a little information for you to know. I hate to spend money on something that could have been free even if it's just a few dollars. Overall our stay was decent and we got a good nights sleep. I do agree with another reviewer though, this doesn't really feel like a BW Plus and I have stayed at other BW Plus hotels. You usually pay a bit more at BW Plus so I don't know if the cost matches but it is a decent hotel.
Hotel is not far from Yosemite and much better value than the accommodation within the park. The adjacent restaurant makes superb cherry pie and the seafood pasta at nearby Pepperys is a must. Hotel is very comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Don't miss out on a trip to Downtown Sonora. Make sure you visit the Sweet Shop and ask to see the safe for a big surprise!
We spent the night here after spending the day in Yosemite. The front desk staff was friendly. The king room was very spacious with a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was a good size too. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The lobby is not connected to any of the rooms so you have to drive to whichever room you're staying at. The breakfast is at the restaurant right next door and offers a good selection of eggs, Belgian waffles, continental or oatmeal. If you prefer, you can get $5 off their entire breakfast menu. If you're in a hurry to get on the road, they also offer a "Grab 'N Go."
Stayed here on our way to Yosemite National Park. The hotel is quite dated, but I guess they have a small part of the hotel that has been renovated (we stayed in the older part). I'm not fussy, I just want someplace clean that I can sleep well in and then get going right away in the morning. There were little hairs on the sheets and a (live) bug on my bed. I killed the bug and picked off the hairs and tried to just go to sleep and forget about it....but the pillows are huge. So now I have a kink in my neck. I got this room for only $100, so I wasn't expecting much, but I would be more than willing to pay more for a clean room with a decent pillow. Breakfast was good. It's served in a little cafe next to the hotel...buuuut, if you're in a hurry, it's no bueno. Service takes longer than a typical "hotel breakfast" because it's in a local cafe. All-in-all, I wouldn't stay here again.
Stayed here two nights. Quiet hotel in the middle of no where however reasonably priced place to bunk if visiting Yosemite for the day. Only negative is no elevator to second floor in the executive wing. We are traveling for 2 weeks with 50 lb suitcases...thank goodness for a teenage son! Room was clean. Rollaway bed provided for third child at $20/day. Fitness room was adequate with treadmill, elliptical, bike and weight machine. Needed a new key daily for this room though. Restaurant next door was good. Breakfast voucher was included with stay. Three options...eggs, meat, hash browns or pancakes with juice; waffle or oatmeal.
An excellent hotel but not very central (you have to drive everywhere). Very friendly/helpful staff. Restaurant adjacent with a voucher from the hotel for breakfast. Nice warm swimming pool with loungers etc. Very good air conditioned rooms rooms.
Nice patio out the sliding back door with table and chairs. Lovely wooded setting. Very quiet. Great full breakfast at restaurant on site. Room very clean and spacious. Very close to casino turn off. Not a minus, just a suggestion. We asked for and got a disabled room. It would have been easier to have a ramp closer to the room and not just stairs for those that have trouble walking. Rm 156.
This was the second time we stayed at the Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks. We found the staff very friendly and efficient. Check in and check out was fast. The room was clean and comfortable and a good value. I asked for an upstairs room with a balcony when making reservations and this is what we got. We received breakfast coupons for the restaurant next door. The service was good and the food was OK. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit Sonora. For a good Mexican dinner, try Mi Pueblo in old downtown Sonora.
finally treated like valued customer, Shauna and the rest of front desk was wonderful, even gave us dog treats and goodies for our son's service dog. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you Best Western for your genuine customer service and concern or our enjoyable stay!
My daughters 10U softball team had a tournament in Sonora, so we all chose Best Western Plus to stay. Girls had a great time swimming in the pool and we used the facility BBQ area to spend time as a team. Rooms were large and beds very comfy. Room came with free breakfast. A real breakfast where servers serve you. Food was good with several choices to chose from. Hotel even has free Wifi. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed here on our was from Yosemite to the Calaveras Big Tree State Park. It was a nice hotel or what one would expect from a Best Western. They have a happy hour with 2 free drinks and a few appetizers in the late afternoon/evening which was a nice touch. Breakfast was in a restaurant next door. It was much better quality than a typical continental hotel breakfast but not as fast if you are looking to grab and go because it is sit down style. All in all a very nice stay and would stay again if we are in the area hiking again.
We had a family wedding in Sonora and lots of my family stayed here, nice rooms - dog friendly - great breakfast - beds kinda hard, but real nice clean room. Nice location on the way to Yosemite or Sonora.
included breakfast at the adjacent restaurant was good, not the typical cold cereal or continental-type with just pastries - bathrooms and closet were dated and smelled moldy - beds were comfy - staff at counter seemed indifferent - not rude but definitely could be more friendly, and don't expect them to go out of their way for a request by you - staff we ran into on the grounds were nicer - at checkout make sure you check your bill, otherwise the card reader might read the wrong room again and you'll pay for another guest's bill and have yours tacked on later (the employee said the reader "keeps doing that" ...=/)
Kathy at the front desk went out of her way to put us into an ideal room, a large 2-queen room in the newer "executive" building. She really started our visit off on a positive note. Kathy also hosted a fun "managers reception" the next evening that featured free drinks and light food. The free breakfasts were full restaurant breakfasts with a wide range of choices.
We stayed at the hotel for a family vacation to Gold Country. It was a very good location for day trips to Columbia, Jamestown, the Calaveras Big Trees and California Caverns. The staff was very friendly, the room was very clean, and the breakfast was excellent. There were five of us and we stayed in a two-room suite (2 queens in one room, and a sofa-bed in the other). It was perfect for our family.
We visited a party of 3 friends and it was a 1 night stop on the way for Yosemite. Great location and price, the room is specious and the staff was friendly We received an excellent breakfast in the nearby diner. very recommended
We were on the bottom floor next to the pool (most rooms appear to be looking on the pool/spa area). The pool was closed due to renovation. The room was large and had a nice open patio. The only draw back was the street traffic from Hess but only at commute hours. Otherwise our stay was very quiet, especially at night. Do not hesitate to ask the gardening crew to curtail mowing, blowing, etc. if you are trying to enjoy your patio.
Stopped here before heading into Yosemite. Decent size room and bathroom and plenty of parking. Was a little concerned with noise from room with adjoining door as it sounded like they were trying to join us at one point, but thankfully quietened down before we were trying to sleep. We only used it as a place to shower and sleep but it did also have a pool and the room had a shared patio area.
Comfortable hotel with a large room. Good location for a visit to Yosemite National Park. Breakfast was great (you can choose from different menus). The room was a bit dark, but perfect for a one night stay.
The room was very clean. The Jacuzzi tub was especially nice after a long drive. The hotel is just a couple hours drive from Yosemite Valley and very close to some cool historical towns besides Sonora. The staff was very helpful.
A very mediocre place, dark rooms, no outside space, pool wasn't working, far away from town, right of the highway with matching noise, really not worthy of best western plus, I've seen normal best western look much better. Don't know if there's a better place in Sonora, but I wouldn't recommend this place.
We stayed here the night before traveling to Yosemite. It is a reasonably priced alternative to the much more expensive hotels closer to the park, and the drive from Sonora to Yosemite is pretty quick. Plus, Sonora has a lot to offer on its own, with Gold Country charm. The Best Western is a nice older hotel with an adjoining restaurant. Two stories, no elevator, and a combination of interior access and outside access rooms. We were given a large corner room upstairs on the interior. It was very comfortable; nice mattress and good linens. Free cooked breakfast at the adjoining restaurant, with several alternatives, ranging from bacon and eggs to a continental breakfast option, to waffles with strawberries.
We had booked a room in this hotel online and checked in at 930 in the evening after a long drive. The reception gave us a room reserved for handicaps ie no bathtub in toilet. When we phoned them, they said latecomers get left-over room. We had not only booked our room, we had also given them a confirmation call. Their pool is also out of order and this not mentioned anywhere.
Enjoyed our stay very much, everything was up to par! Staff, rooms, food excellent. Managers reception a very nice touch, ideal way to bring total strangers together. Happily recommend Best Western anywhere. Sincere thanks to all. Josephine
We were unable to get a room at Black Oak Casino so opted for this one. we were very pleased and will return. It was quiet and clean and very comfortable beds. Not far from the casino. I would recommend this to others for sure!
The facility was clean and quiet and very comfortable. The included breakfast was outstanding.Coffee good and plentiful. It is convenient to the highway,m but still quiet. Have stayed here before and will do so again.
Had a great stay full of pleasant surprises. First--this is hotel is located in a very convenient location--easy access to downtown Sonora or on to other nearby locations for exploring. They are pet-friendly, which is a must for us. The pet fee ($20) is reasonable AND included a bowl, toy, pick-up bags, and dog treats. The on-site restaurant had a varied menu and friendly service. Breakfast was a hot, cooked-to-order (various options) at the on-site restaurant. And, there was a manager's reception with beverages (including beer/wine options) and hot appetizers. We will definitely consider a return stay when we come back to explore the history and natural wonders in this beautiful area
Quick easy check-in. Friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean and pretty quiet. Went to the Manager's Welcome happy hour, which they have twice a week l believe Tues/Thursday. Very nice wine and good snacks. Had the breakfast both mornings of our stay and had the "included" breakfast both mornings. They give you 4 choices that are hot breakfasts for no additional cost or $5 off menu items. Both breakfasts were good and served quickly, good service. As I said entire room was very clean, but the reason I didn't give 5 stars was the inner bathroom (shower and toilet area) was very dated and showing it's age. I believe this was the pet-friendly area (no "evidence" of that just w as listed as such). We stayed at BW because we were going to Yosemite, over an hour drive away. There are places closer, but Sonora has many restaurants and services available.
We needed a place to stay for an evening and the Best Western was affordable, comfortable, clean and had a great breakfast (it's at the diner next door). I'm not sure I'd stay there for more than a day or two, but I would definitely stay there again the next time I'm in town.
Loud children from school running wild and loud behavior. School group were out of control and were asked several times to be quiet, They would quiet down for a few minutes then return to loud behavior.
Being away from home for 6 weeks is a long time, so when housekeeping does the minimum or less, it makes me feel like I overstayed my welcome. In general it was ok but I was not overwhelmed in any way. I have been here for 4 weeks and in the 5th week, even though I supposedly checked out 4/17.
We were very pleased with our check-in. The associate was welcoming and helpful. After a bit of friendly discussion she agreed to a complimentary king (we had booked two queens) upgrade. It was a Sunday night and the place didn't seem all that busy. The room was extra large and situated in a quiet part of the hotel. On our way to it we saw a charter bus parked for the night in a part of the parking lot situated directly across from two stories of guestrooms and my wife agreed with me that it reminded us of a miserable stay in hotel in Ireland where the management had done the same thing. We were awakened in the morning much earlier than we had wished. The noise of the buses (there were two) and the people chatting before boarding was awful, unwelcome, and avoidable. When we walked by the bus on our way to breakfast at 8 a.m. the driver had just fired up the bus and the noise began. After breakfast I decided to give the management my reaction along with paying them some compliments. After an equally friendly greeting from the associate who gave me my receipt and thanked me I asked to speak with the general manager. She apologized and told me the GM wasn't there but the assistant was, could she help me? Yes, thank. The AGM was very happy to take my compliments on the associate who had checked me in, on the room we had been given, and on their choice of an excellent arrangement with the Pine Tree Inn next door to provide a first class breakfast. When I mentioned the positioning of the bus she became defensive and told me they had thought it through and usually assigned guests to the rooms directly facing the bus. She was concerned that I might have been awakened by the bus and I tried to explain that I had not been in this case but had been in similar situations. At this point she had not asked me if I had any suggestions or ideas (I did) and seemed more intent on defending the decision at which the management had arrived. She was pleasant, not all argumentative, and, to my mind, not the least bit interested in hearing my solution. Had she done so she would have seen that moving the bus about 50 feet forward to where the parking lot curved (along with the building) would have reduced significantly the inevitable noise and without great impact on the guests using the coach. Or, the parking lot at the Pine Tree Inn could also have served that purpose with a little more walking? Which is more important? The comfort and convenience of the guests who were awake and ready to go or those who hoped to sleep late on a Sunday morning away from home. In keeping with my belief that I should always allow property managers to address problems when they occur I found what I regarded to be deaf ears and, hence, have chosen to alert others. Anytime you see a chartered bus parked near guestrooms you can be sure that bus is going to wake somebody up in the morning. Forewarned is forearmed.
We chose to stay at the Best Western Plus because of the suite options. Stairs (about 15) were the only option to access the 2nd floor. The suite itself was laid out well with a shared bathroom in the middle. Tub and toilet in a closed area and double sinks outside. We were able to hear full conversations of the people who had a room next to the hall area so the walls were too thin. The beds were uncomfortable (comparable to the Wyndham) The 4 complimentary breakfast options were very good choices and the amount of food was more than expected. The hotel is in a good proximity to Yosemite. The town of Sonora closes early for a Saturday night with only fast food choices. Overall it was a good choice.
Great location, great staff, no issues. Can be a bit noisy on ground level. Lots of good places to eat in close proximity. The fridge and microwave worked well. Managers social was nice. Plenty of parking. No real issues to speak of.
This was my second stay at this hotel. The first trip I took my kids for a quick trip to the snow. We had a wonderful time. Great full breakfast included with the room, not the typical "continental" style. I have stayed at many Best Westerns in California, but the Sonora and Mariposa locations are my favorite!
Everytime we visit friends in Sonora we like staying here at this hotel. We love the breakfast they offer. Price is good and the rooms, are clean. This is the only hotel we'll stay at. The beds are comfy, over all we just like this hotel.
I stay one night while travelling to Yosemite Price are great, room ok, a double queen can accommodate a rolloaway bed. A bit old, and would benefit of refreshing breakfast is great and included in the room. nothing to do around, and a bit far from Yosemite in a simple sentence: Average hotel, great motel
The room was back from the road so it was nice and quiet. The bed was very comfy and I slept well. Everything was very clean. Breakfast at the restaurant next door was very nice and was included with the price of the room.
Over the years I have stayed at this hotel many times while visiting relatives in the Sonora area. Recently the health of my brother; who resides in a nearby community, declined significantly. Wanting to see him one last time I booked a flight from the east coast. I was traveling with my daughter who lives in California and I needed two rooms. My visit was timed to co-inside with Easter and the hotel was booked except for one room. After explaining the situation, Ellen, moved some guests around and I was able to not only get the extra room but they were adjoining. To conclude; the rooms, which were clean and roomy, were a little expensive on the weekend ( I think) but the weekday rate was very reasonable.
The size of the room and the location of the room was great. It was a very big room and had a little deck off the back that was nice due to unseasonably warm weather in February. The room was a little tired though and was definitely starting to show age. Much like myself. Nothing a little paint and botox couldn't help! The room was still very clean and we would stay here again.
Overall, the experience was great.Clean, comfortable beds, desk to work at, balcony with table outside. Service was excellent! Got a list of recommended restaurants. Worked out in the morning at the fitness center. New equipment and was able to get in a nice workout. Wifi was also excellent. My only recommendation would be to bring a nightlight.
We got this hotel through Priceline about 2 hours before we were getting there. Booked two nights. Due to a computer problem, they only had a room for us for 1 night. The front desk staff went out of their way to help us make the best of the situation and we were very grateful. The hotel is nothing fancy, but was a great value and good location. Nice breakfast included at the restaurant next door. Had bus shuttles going to Yosemite. This was a great starting point for us to get into Yosemite in the morning. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend.
I LOVE this hotel. The suite is setup perfectly for families with kids. It is clean, great service, and comfortable. The location is excellent for outdoor fun. The town itself is quiet and enjoyable for a weekend get-away.
We have stayed twice at this hotel. Both times the staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The room was very clean and my wife is very picky! The voucher for a free full-service breakfast at the hotel restaurant is a nice touch. Like the rest, the restaurant is clean, the food is good (not great) coffee shop-style eats. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
My husband and I love staying here. We stay here every year for the Sonora celtic faire. The rooms are huge, clean, and are so comfy. Plus I love having a balcony. We go on the balcony sometimes in the morning or at night and it's so peaceful looking at all the trees. We also love that breakfast comes included in the cost. They give you a lot of food and it is delicious. I would recommend this hotel. The service is excellent and the overall experience is awesome.
The service was friendly, full of smiles and very helpful. The room was very clean and the bed was the most comfortable I've stayed in any hotel. Because of the reasonable price, I was assuming poor or average quality but I was very wrong, It was like I was staying at a hotel at twice the price. Love the mid size flat screen TV also. It was actually big enough to watch moves without sitting on the edge of the bed. Clean, quite rooms I'm not used to....the last hotel I stayed at, I could hear the guy snoring through the walls and the people above bouncing on the bed. I will always stay at this place when I'm going to Dodge Ridge.
I usually like to stay at a Best Western when traveling. Two friends and I decided to stay here when exploring the Gold Rush area for a short stay. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The comforter on my bed was rather warm. Breakfast was included at the restaurant next door and we enjoyed it two mornings.
The overall experience was good the rooms could have been cleaner and the beds more comfortable, difficult to get the room to a comfortable temp. The bathrooms in both rooms had hair in the shower. The beds were lumpy I am used to Temper-pedic the beds were not comfortable at all. The internet was spotty at best. The people were very nice easy to talk to. The complementary breakfast was very good. Overall would stay there again. The cost not bad for a weekend but I thought the rooms could have been better for a Best Western.
The free breakfast option is exercised via a coupon to the adjacent restaurant. This offers a selection of free options or a significant discount on any menu option from the restaurant. A very nice option compared to Best Western's usual fair.
It was right off the freeway, which was nice. Close to restaurants and the price included a hot breakfast at the restaurant next door, which was fantastic! The room was fine and it was perfect for our family. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
We had taken much longer getting out of Yosemite Valley than we'd planned and arrived in Sonora just as the sun was setting. I've always been a fan of Best Westerns and like a newer accommodating rather than historic. Finding this online was a relief, and using GPS we found is easily. It's actually in East Sonora and a little detour if you're on Hwy 49, but no difficult to find. The room was great, roomy and comfortable and clean. It's next to a restaurant which was a slice of old time local diner and delicious. And by the way, breakfast included in the price.
Really great experience with this hotel. Clean and spacious rooms. They welcomed out little dog with no issues and even had a welcome gift for our pup upon arrival. The fitness center was also clean with modern equipment.
The location of the hotel is outside of Sonora, quiet and easy access. Close to the Sierra Repertory Theater. Very comfortable beds, good restaurant next door with free breakfast with hotel stay. Staff friendly, rooms clean. I would definitely stay there again.
Exceptional staff attention. Management goes above and beyond to accomodate!. Great breakfast included at a real restaurant with great service and very good food. For a BW property, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and for someone with a back issue, that is especially rewarding! The Saturday dramatic escalation of pricing is the only complaint; but it is a supply and demand oriented business and if everything else were not well above average, the recommendation would not come through as strong to give them your business. They earn it!
The check in and check out were straightforward, the room was neat and well-stocked, the employees were very nice. There is just this awkward moment when we show up and people ask, "And what brings you to Sonora?" I thought, what if I were here for a funeral? We actually had no idea what we were going to do during our visit, so perhaps a better question to put to visitors might be, "Have you been to Sonora before?" Followed by a welcome or welcome back. It threw me completely, and that was followed by a barrage of suggestions from some guy in line behind us. The grounds are lovely, the people (especially the lady who cleans up the rooms) are sweet. Brilliant that the shower was handicapped accessible. The mattress cover kept coming off during sleep, though, which was annoying. There has to be a way to fix that. Bed was comfortable though.
I definitely need to say Melissa is an excellent employee. She made our arrival very pleasant. She was very friendly, informative and helpful. Melissa was the front desk person at the time of our arrival and she had a very pleasant smile. She help us to check in, and my group did not have to wait so long. She was very informative providing information about places to go visit in the area and roads to take. She provided us a map to go to Yosemite. Last, the rooms were in excellent condition very clean an spacious. I requested an extra rolling bed and blankets to Melissa and she call the staff to bring it into our room. Because of her promptness my group were happy and able to rest immediately. Great Job Melissa!!
Great Best Western. Restaurant on property. Close to everything by car. As per usual the rooms are clean. The staff knowledgeable and the grounds well kept. It feels safe and friendly in this location.
We stayed one night at the BW Sonora Oaks Hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how clean the room and hotel grounds were. Rooms were very quiet, never heard neighbors above or next to us and the hotel appeared to booked solid. We opted for continental breakfast for two at the time of booking; figured a continental breakfast would be coffee, toast and juice, but you were give a big variety of items to choose from including eggs, bacon and pancakes. The location was centrally located to where we wanted to visit in Sonora. We would definitely stay here again. I used the workout facility - my only complaint was there wasn't any towels available in the workout facility, and they needed to have more plastic cups by the water cooler.
Clean room, comfy, bed, good location, what's more to like? Price was good considering the accommodations. Only negative was at checkout (switched rooms as we added another night) evening host gave us a deal but morning host had no knowledge and tried to charge more.
Excellent stay and great service meeting our needs during our stay. Relaxing area and many amenities for the guest. My daughter and son are having a great time. Will Definately be back soon. Brittany at the front desk did an amazing job helping us out when a problem arised.
I stayed @ Best Western for a business trip. I was welcomed by a friendly staff. She made my check-in very easy. The next day, I enjoyed the free breakfast. I even asked the restaurant staff to packed my breakfast to go for me. It took a bit long to pack the food. I like this hotel because there is free parking and free wifi. However, the room décor is a tab out dated and you can tell that some furniture look old. It was also a bit disappointing that the wifi would lag at times.
I checked in with a small dog and it's usually just difficult to find a place that even allows dogs. The front desk clerk gave me a free gift for my dog that included a dog bowl, tennis ball, dog treats and poo bag. We felt very welcome and there were lots of areas to walk my dog on grass. Our room faced the pool and had a little patio with nice table and chairs that I could access through my own patio door. The free breakfast meal options were much nicer than the "continental" at most other hotels offering free breakfast. Very comfortable and great price!
Rooms were nice, staff was friendly, free breakfast every morning. Restaurant and bar on-site. Not exactly centrally located, but come on, it's Sonora. Everything is a 5 minute drive regardless of where you are. I looked at some of the other hotels in the area, all of them were either a LOT more expensive or not as nice. Best Western is a nice middle ground. I stayed here two different weeks in two different rooms and I enjoyed both stays. WIFI was good, plenty of TV channels if you're into that (including HBO)... If I am back in Sonora, I will stay here again.
We stayed in Pinecrest last time we skied but decided to stay at Best Western Sonora this time: this allowed us to stay only one night vs having a minimum 2+ nights in Pinecrest. The accommodations were basic but clean and in working order. We stayed in a suite, which I paid more for since we were bringing children ... while there is a separate living area, our suite did not have a tv in the living area. Also, there is no door to separate the bedroom and the living area - simply a door frame ... All that was there was a couch and one coffee table in this living area. Essentially the room could be used to do work on a laptop or to fold out the couch for another bed. I had to watch the Disney channel on my bed since there was only one tv. And, I had to go to sleep when my child did in the living room, since there was no door to keep my bedroom separate and keep my light and tv on... The free breakfast offered was through the restaurant next door. So, while we did pay a nominal amount for gratuity, the breakfast was better than expected from a Best Western and worth it in my opinion. There was also an option for a take-away breakfast if you didn't have time for the restaurant. I would return here again when in the area but probably won't pay for a suite again because it doesn't seem worth it for how we generally use suites as a family.
Anytime we plan a trip to the snow we stay at Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks. Friendly staff, Clean and reasonable hotel. Right off the freeway close to stores, casino and snow park. Free breakfast at restaurant next door.
overall great value and close to Leland snow park loved the breakfast included....plus buying tickets at hotel a plus and included lunch at park and a hot coco on the way out will stay again ...a lot of near by stores for shopping and food
Average for a hotel in a small quaint town. Comfortable and clean. Staff was welcoming. The breakfast that was offered was a good value and did come with our stay. We were traveling to visit family in the area. The hotel is close to outdoor activities such as skiing.
Rooms were pleasant and very clean. Staff was polite. Amenities were good. Breakfast vouchers for the restaurant next door were a great deal! Reasonably close (45 minutes) to Dodge Ridge and other snow-play options.
Best part was the Breakfast - there's a restaurant right in front, and food was really good. Internet was slow in the room, so I went to the lobby - it was much faster there. Beds and Pillows were really good too - pillows were nice and firm.
We arrived to find friendly and warm staff meeting us to take our reservation. When we arrived at our room it was nice and then we had to use the bathroom and found the toilet was so loose it could pivot from one side to another. The light fixture in the same room was shattered and in bad repair.Looked like it had been broken a long time. The hall entrance light was out inside. We called the staff and asked for a discount and we they said they would give us 25% off, pretty sad considering they sent people to our door to fix everything after we returned from dinner. They also send the maintenance guy to the wrong room. I took pictures and brought them up to show Marrisa, but she seemed too busy to worry about it. Maybe next time we will stay here and check the room first before signing away all of our money.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean and large and the beds were very comfortable! the cleaning service was efficient. Very quiet area even though it is close to the highway, which is very helpful
Great hotel. Will be back. Although, we will be having dinner at The Peppery. The hotel staff was excellent and very professional. The room was clean and everything worked in the room. The bed was perfect. Slept like a baby. Very quiet and peaceful place to relax after a long day. The Rooster wake up call was a great extra, that we did not expect. The fridge and microwave were nice extras to have in our room also.
excellent hotel in every aspect and a great restaurant as well-all friendly and clean and definit ely comfortable, with a grassy area just outside our sliding-glass door-dog bowls, toys, treats and bags were given to us when we checked in-we were made to feel welcome with our pets as soon as we walked through the door-will come again
I like Best western very much, especially the Free breakfast what they are serving. i never had such breakfast in any other Hotel. Best western Has many plus, good parking facility , great break fast, excellent staff, Good Gym and great service. I always recommend this Hotel for stay . Only one thing can be improved in this hotel is Wifi Speed
We stay at this particular hotel as often as we can while visiting relatives. The location, nice rooms, value for the money and hot breakfast (in the restaurant on property) are the best points. Also, when it snows further up the mountain, it usually just rains in Sonora. This is good for us as our car is not equipped with 4 wheel drive. But...if you want to ski, this is a great location to stay nice and dry.
We had a mini snow family vacation. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We will certainly stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends and family. It was close to snow and Dodge Ridge
It's a great hotel in a great location - a perfect spot on our way to our snow trip in the mountains. But here's what I really want to say. I don't care so much when things break - TV, plumbing, Internet, etc. I understand how life works, I understand that things break. What's really important to me is how the staff RESPONDS when something breaks. Are they concerned? Do they want to be helpful and fix it as soon as is reasonably convenient? Or are they indifferent, unconcerned? The 2nd night we were there, the WiFi broke. We called the Front Desk, and had a couple of helpful conversations. They responded quickly, and obviously wanted to fix it. THAT'S the attitude I appreciate. And it got fixed. Also, the hot tub was fabulous - especially fun in the middle of winter. Thanks, Best Western Sonora!
always a great place to stay, friendly staff, nice accomodations, resturuant attached, close to all area attractions. has nice pool and spa, breakfast included in most cases. i have stayed there dozens of times, always been good service and accomodations. parking right outside your door. the rooms with the woods view are the newer ones , we like staying in those rooms
We wanted to stay somewhere near the snow and this was a great pick. We got an amazing rate on Priceline. Breakfast at the restaurant was amazing ...which is FREE with your stay. They also had a manager's meet and greet with free appetizers and up to two drinks. This was really fun for adults and children. The manager was the host and was really really nice!!
Very friendly staff and the room was very nice and comfortable. Having a full breakfast included was a great bonus. Very good breakfast in a nice restaurant . We have stayed here several times. Never disappointed!!
I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms and surrounding areas. I've stayed in 5 star hotels that couldn't touch the cleanliness of this place. Maria did a great job making sure our room was clean. This hotel could use an upgrade and provide USB ports and maybe a radio with iPod capability. Just being picky here. Otherwise its a great hotel for our stop in Sonora.
I've stayed here many times. What you would expect from a Best Western. Breakfast voucher for restaurant next door is a very nice perk. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Individual heating/cooling in room so fan goes on and off during the night but most hotels have this so it is hard to avoid. A pet peeve of mine.
The hotel was very nice and comfortable. Staff was amazing and very accommodating and the restaurant is AWESOME! The free breakfast was way more than I ever expected and the staff at the restaurant is one of the sweetest groups of people. We ended up having lunch and breakfast there and I would definitely return to this hotel and restaurant next time I am in the area.
This hotel is so close to many beautiful locations, it makes a perfect vacation spot. My two adult children and I were gathering for a semi reunion and this was the perfect meeting place. The room was very comfortable the beds were the type where when one person climbed in or out of bed the other hardly notices, which was great because I tend to toss and turn, and I really didnt want to wake my daughter. The breakfast offer was a good deal and delicious.
The Best Western Plus Sonora Oaks Hotel is a great hotel in a perfect location to see what Tuolumne County has to offer. The rooms are a good size and breakfast at the restaurant is included in your stay. The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. The WiFi works great as well.
This place Pet friendly and close to town and casino. Nice breakfast in the morning. Walking trails for our four legged baby. Just perfect for us! Nice for just a relaxing getaway up the hill and a nice drive too..
We enjoy staying in the Sierra Nevada foothills, we find it very relaxing. This trip was planned with our son and grandson, we had tickets for the Columbia "Lamplighter Tour" only given once a year on the first weekend of December. It is the second time we have been and it is a truly great presentation. We have stayed at Best Western hotels before on our trip to Canada, and try to find hotels with a restaurant. The Best Western PLUS Sonora Oaks Hotel was just the right location and had a great restaurant, we were able to get breakfast in the morning and then be on our sightseeing. This hotel fit all our needs and the people were very friendly and polite.
We stayed here on our cross country trip this fall. The motel is well kept and clean. Our room was as you would expect with a chain hotel....clean, comfortable, everything in working order. We even had a little back porch with table and chairs to sit at. The restaurant was good. It even had a salad bar. Service was polite and quick. It was close to Yosemite National Park and we enjoyed the road to get there. There is a big shopping center just up the road which had everything we needed to restock ourselves during our stay. Would stay here again, I think Best Western does a good job of ensuring their motels are well kept.
Best Western PLUS Sonora Oaks is a great value for your money. Pleasant staff with clean and quiet rooms. Sonora is very limited as far as hotels so options are limited. By far this is the best hotel in the area. There are many bed and breakfast offerings but they are typically much more expensive and many business travelers prefer a hotel over the traditional B&B experience.
Great experience.....plenty of room for 4 women to use. Worked out well...with the sink and grooming area separate from the bathroom/ shower. The place was very clean, quiet and the breakfast was not fancy but a good value with great selections.
I stayed here one night for business and loved it. The reservation was last minute. Friendly staff, nice location, quiet room, and a very comfy bed. Breakfast is at the adjacent restaurant and it's a choice of four items or anything you want at a reduced price.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sonora Oaks Best Western. The staff at the hotel and the Restaurant were amazing. Staff were cheerful, and worked together to make our experience enjoyable. The hotel has been voted "Best" for 8 years, and its easy to see why. Service at the restaurant was amazing also...and the Martini's in the lounge were the best.
Quiet, clean and friendly. A great getaway. Close to shopping but far enough away to be quiet. The restaurants are close and the mountains are less then 45 minutes away. We went for mountain drives in the morning and shopping in the afternoon.
from check in to check out they are friendly and courteous. room big like tehy used to be, with big flat screen TV. quiet, but best is the free breakfast included, a real meal, our choice was eggs, bacon, hash browns, fruir, OJ, and pancakes-full sized, with hot chocolate! great food too, not some warmed over from yesterdays crew, real food. cannot say enough, we will return! any place else you paid too much and didn't get enough
Although not in the heart of downtown this facility offered great rates with family friendly atmosphere - excellent restaurant (diner style) fun bar/lounge - with a very local feel. Staff were courteous and polite and very accommodating with a group/family traveling together.
It's not to far from downtown, about a mile from a large shopping center and a movie theater. my room was clean the ladies at the desk are great. You get a free breakfast from the restaurant next door which is great. I don't know how much the stay was because it was business.
This place is a gem. The food was down home cooking and is just what we wanted. The restaurant staff was extremely friendly at all times. The fireplace was relaxing and the overall room was large. Overall experience was outstanding.
Went there thinking we will just spend the night there and get going, so I didn't really care about the room amenities but it was really really great, plus the breakfast was surprisingly good so we went on our way extra satisfied
The room was pleasant, clean, and comfortable. Staff were nice but got my name and street address wrong. All pillows were soft and squishy, even the "firm" ones. There was no difference between firm and soft pillows. The in room refrigerator and exterior downspouts were noisy.
We upgraded to a fireplace suite for our anniversary. They showed us the room, the fireplace ended up not working, they moved us to another room while we were at the managers reception. Gave us a welcome basket for our anniversary, they went beyond our expectations. Everyone was extremely nice. Shower needed a little attention, but over all, was a great experience. Great management, which is what makes or breaks all businesses. Kudos to Chris, Kevin & Kimberley.
The Best Western Sonora Oaks Hotel Conference Center is an outstanding hotel to stay at. I have been staying there for at least three years and the quality is always consistently excellent and I never have any problems. The complimentary breakfast in the Pines Restaurant is one of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this hotel.
This is a comfortable hotel with amenities in the Mother Lode area of California. It is in an area of many historical sights and interesting activities. It is also enroute to Yosemite National Park, some lakes, and ski areas.
My wife and I and kids, now adults have stayed here many times since going back to around the mid 1990's. There are other good hotels, however this one provides a very nice setting, good restaurant, good local shops, about a 8 to 10 minute drive to the old town shopping area and other nice restaurants and is within an easy drive to Dodge Ridge for skiing. You just cannot go wrong. The front desk staff are very helpful and professional as well as the maintenance staff and housecleaning.
We chose this hotel because of its location between Yosemite and San Francisco- it was a very good choice. The welcome was friendly, helpful and efficient, the room was spotless, well appointed and quiet. The bed was comfortable so we had a great nights sleep and the pool was just right with a hot jacuzzi adjacent. We will definitely recommend this to others. The adjacent restaurant was also excellent, great menu choices, nice waitresses and well cooked wholesome food. We had dinner and breakfast here and were delighted with both.
Queen Double was clean and poolside. Enjoyed patio. Equipment in gym was very good. Check-in staff were friendly and very helpful! The adjacent restaurant was very nice. A full breakfast was included. I would have liked room delivery though that was the only drawback.
Great value for money, the room was very big and quite. The pool is an advantage. We stayed here for our trip in Yosemite and it was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, breakfast is a plus.
We were only here one night, but enjoyed it a lot. It has all the facilities you need, helpfull staff, clean rooms and a great resturant and bar. The resturant served good food at reasonable prices, bit more diner than resturant, but was great. Bar was fantastic, we ended the evening sat outside with the barmen and his friends who made us feel so welcome and gave us a great bit of hospitality, something we found a little lacking in other places in CA. Would recomend.
The Best Western Sonora Oaks Hotel is a great place to stay. The location was excellent. We had just visited Calaveras Big Trees State Park and were on our way to Yosemite National Park. Stopping here made for a restful night and gave us a fresh start the next morning. We could no get over how quiet the hotel was. Having a restaurant next door was so convenient. The staff at the front desk were help and efficient getting us registered. As this was our first time staying in Sonora, we appreciated being given suggestions for navigating the area. The access to Wi-Fi was simple and easy with no complicated passwords for connecting. The checkout the next morning was equaling efficient. We will definitely return here in the future. Mike
We stayed here on two occassions for one night each a year apart. Both times, the welcome was really friendly with a free beer, wine and snacks welcome. Kathy who looked after our bookings was so helpful making our tour such a great success. the rooms were perfect for our needs. The included breakfast is cooked to order just over the car park in a separate restaurant. Yosemite on your door step but not Yosemite prices.
We recently went to Yosemite for my 60th Birthday. Booked this hotel online thru Third party. Great customer service. They really make you feel welcomed. There was a mix up on our room and they gladly changed it. Rooms were very clean. Complimentary breakfast was delicious. They also host a welcome reception twice a week offering free appetizers and drinks for two hours. We don't drink, but it was a nice way to get to know about the town. General Manager was working. Thought that was great. It's also a dog friendly hotel. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to town and know that our dog will be welcomed. For you dog lovers out there they said each dog gets a water bowl and cookie at check-in.
Everything excellent. Made my Birthday special. All staff we encountered were very helpful and pleasant. There was an on site restaurant that had very good food at reasonable prices. The service was excellent even though they were sometimes very busy. The room we had was very quiet. We had a balcony overlooking a wooded area. So was very peasant to just sit outside and relax.
Great place for a get-away from it all! Staff is friendly and helpful, motel is attractive, adjoining restaurant has a full breakfast menu to choose from, lots to do in the surrounding area, picturesque western side of the Sierras, a beautiful, convenient drive to Yosemite and its grandeur.
Best hotel ever! not too expensive, plenty of amenities, especially the gigantic free breakfast and wonderful restaurant. Nice comfy rooms, patios outside, hot tub and pool. Trifecta of refrigerator, coffee machine and microwave! Been there many, many times!
Extremely helpful and friendly staff throughout the facility. They were very focused on providing excellent service. The room was clean and there was a small furnished patio/balcony off of each room. Beds were older, but still comfortable.
The staff is helpful and we are able to stay in the comfortable large rooms poolside with patios. Beds are cozy with great pillows. Rooms including bathrooms are clean. Very nice to get the breakfast coupon upon check-in and enjoy the free breakfast at the on site restaurant. Lots of breakfast choices and you can order a discounted breakfast on the regular menu if you choose rather than the options on the free coupon menu. Service is always excellent. Great place to stay in Sonora ! Enjoy the charm or Sonora and easy drive up to Twain Harte, Pinecrest Lake.
This was a nice hotel - about an hour out of the NW Yosemite entrance. The staff was nice and helpful and they had a manager's welcome party with free drinks - my wife loved her wine. I enjoyed the appetizers - nice touch. Breakfast was provided at the onsite restaurant. You go to the restaurant and get a choice of four or so served breakfasts - not buffet. My wife thought this was the best breakfast provided on our 9 day car trip. My only complaint was that I booked the room via hotels.com. I do not recall any mention of this room being ADA with no bath tub. My wife was very disappointed there was not tub as she loves a nightly soak when travelling. In the future I may dump hotels.com and call direct to the hotel to make sure we get the room we want - with tub. I did spent a little time out in the pool area in the hot tub - very nice. The pool looked decent but I hot tubbed only. Yes, I would stay here again if I got the right kind of room.
The night clerk was very kind and helpful but the morning manager was awful. My husband showed up in the morning to have breakfast with me and she accused him of staying the night. I also had 2 dogs and they didn't have a pet room at the time the night clerk checked me in. The morning manager along with the maid accused them of peeing in the room. They r VERY well trained and I took them outside hourly. When I stood up for myself I was told that I wasn't welcome back. No worries I wouldn't go back even if offered free stay.
There was a man lying down on the sidewalk with his feet in the driveway when we drove up to the motel. Someone told him to go in the lobby to sit down. The situation made us uncomfortable. Our room was nice. The outdoor pool was enclosed by motel buildings on 3 sides so it was somewhat protected from breezes. There was an upholstered bench in the dressing area. Breakfast was cooked to order in the restaurant next door so it took longer. Luckily we arrived when it opened before a bus group.
The room was very comfortable and quite. Traveling by myself with dogs for a dog show, I need to feel safe and protected. This hotel offered both. The grounds were clean and well lite. When I checked in they had dog bowls, balls, cookies and poop bags. It was great.
I Spent a night in this hotel for visiting the Yosemite. The place is near the Yosemite. So you can stay here for one night and then start your trip in Yosemite on the next day. The breakfast is delicious.
We stayed here one night with our small dog. The room was very spacious and near to areas of use to a pet. The people at the desk gave us a little dog bowl with a toy and some other things, what a nice/smart touch. The free breakfast came in the form of a voucher for a restaurant next door and was very good. The facility was quiet at night and what else can you ask for. Thank you Best Western Sonora Oaks.
Clean, Comfy, and great breakfast. We needed a late check in (got in @ 3am) and it was the only one in the area that would allow it. I'm happy we chose Best Western. The staff at check in and out were so nice.
Friendly staff. Excellent, updated, clean, large room. The complimentary full-cooked breakfast at the restaurant on the property was very good, but it took almost 30 minutes to receive because of so many people there. However, I would still wholeheartedly recommend staying at this BW.
The bottom line for this hotel is its absolutely quiet. Worth its weight in gold. The breakfast is excellent and on Tuesday and Thursday's they have the managers reception with hors devours and 2 free drinks. The hotel is located a bit of a distance from Sonora but for the quiet it is worth it.
We recently stayed at the Best Western Plus in Sonora for two nights while visiting Yosemite NP. The hotel is located just off CA-108 and within a couple miles of stores and services in Sonora. The room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was served in the on-site restaurant from a limited menu. We also arrived on a Tuesday night and were able to attend the Manager's Reception (free drinks and hor dourves). Drive to Yosemite is about 45-50 miles.
