Very helpful receptionist Milo provided us with the city map indicating the major sightseeing points and gave helpful tips how to get to Siena Cathedral, it did work well! We also met a wonderful local who volunteered to take us to the hotel for free when we got lost. Thank you Milo and Siena residents !
As seasoned travelers thru Italy, we have stayed in different hotels. This small, renovated hotel was a pleasant surprise. Located at the edge of Siena within 7 minutes drive to Historical Siena, and easy access to highways to drive thru Tuscan towns, this was perfect. Hotel has exceptional staff who are are kind, polite and do everything to keep the guests feel at home.. Cleaness of this hotel was simply beyond and above our expectations. Breakfast was really good with fresh pastries, Pecorino cheese, Prouscheto, eggs, and fresh fruits. Planty of parking was available to hotel guests. We also want to praise a lady ( Comasia)at the front desk who sometimes would come and checked the things in breakfast room as well. Her attitude towards guests ,her mannerism and kindness was exceptional. We had a very enjoyable and positive experience.
We stayed 2 nights here. The room has nice furniture, towels and shampoo/shower gel in the bathroom. The issue was that the room is not soundproof, as they mention in the booking. You can hear your neighbors, the walls are very thin. The other thing was the air conditioning, it was very cold in the room. It works even when you're not in the room and with the window open. The breakfast a little poor, not so many options. The hotel is a bit far from the center. And in the last day, we found a lot of ants on my bag. Also, the parking space is in the sun. Not so good experience. But the personnel very friendly.
Room 405 is a very old stylish room, with a small bathroom and a bed of a poor quality. On top, rumourous and bad insonorization. This is absolutely not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. Underground parking for 10€ a night. Will not return.....
Modern and comfortable business hotel with friendly and professional staff. Room was clean and felt new and up-to-date. Well-located close to superstrada for business travellers. Comprehensive breakfast. Overall a very pleasant stay.
Don't be put off by the dull exterior and poor quality photos this place is great. The room was clean, comfortable and easy. The staff was outstanding. It was really easy to get the bus up to the main part of Sienna. It it is a bit hard to get the trip. There are two busses that seem to have the same number so follow the staff instructions about where to get on and off.
This hotel was right near the bus stop to get to the city center. Was able to get bus tickets right from the front desk. We walked home, due to the later return, which was not that long of walk from the city center. Clean hotel and great breakfast...
Lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The check in and check out process was fast, smooth, stress free. The room was clean and super comfortable. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. We had restful stay here. The location was conveniently away from the business of the Siena city core yet it was easily accessible by a taxi in about 5 min for only about 10 euros or bus.
This was easily the best hotel we stayed at during 10 nights in Italy, 7 in Tuscany. It is close to the freeway but you can walk 2km to the San Marco Porta (gate) for the old city and save parking fees. I understand there is free parking outside the old city but except in off-season I wouldn't like to try to find it. The room was clean, there were lots of power points which were the newer 3-point style rather than European standard but they lent us a free adaptor. Breakfast was good with meat and eggs missing from some competitors. There is an excellent restaurant within walking distance although you need to cross two busy roads.
We stayed here for 2 nights on 1st June 2019 - 3rd June 2019. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very helpful receptionist which unfortunately i have forgotten her name! We then got to our rooms and when i opened the door i thought wow this is small! The shower is ridiculously small and you can hardly move in it! The bedrooms were tiny which we struggled to get our big cases in there (We had been travelling around) but apart from that the rooms were nice and clean but the beds were very uncomfortable!!! On the first day we explored Siena town which is a good 20 minute walk from the hotel and some of it is up hill and a lot of the walk is without pavements so you are walking in the road! We then thought this really isn't the ideal location for out hotel to be as there is not much aro0und the hotel at all, meaning we would have to walk into the town in the day and back again to get ready for the evening and then walk back again unless you wanted to pay 10 euros every time for a taxi which soon adds up to 40 euros per day! (I would advise you get the bus into the town which we then found out you could buy the ticket from the hotel reception which we wasn't told) After we visited Siena town we thought we would go back and use the spa facilities which we knew we had to pay 18 euros each to use the spa (Even though it is meant to be a spa hotel!!) We went to reception and asked to use the spa which then a different receptionist was on duty who i found really rude! She then said it would be 18 euro each and we would need to buy the dressing gown and slippers for another 6.50 euros each which i said not to worry as we didn't need them and she then said we had to have them and it would then be 24.50 euros each to use the spa!!! We finally accepted this as we wanted to go into the spa as this is what we planned to do but i couldn't believe the cheek when they then said you only get a maximum of 2 hours in there so all in all it was £50 for two people and you only got 2 hours in there. It is a complete rip off if you ask me ! They only had a hot tub, steam room and a sauna in there and was definitely not worth the £50. I would definitely not recommend this hotel and i would say save your money and spend a little more and stay closer to the town.
Stayed in the hotel San Marco over the weekend and what a pleasant experience it was. We were given a free upgrade to a superior room. Beds comfy, room impeccably clean with a really good shower and reasonably priced drinks in the fridge and a free safe. The only thing we could really fault is that the WIFI in the room (112) was fairly weak. This did in no way ruin the experience. Siena itself was truly astonishing and very rustic. You can gain access via the number 54 bus which runs every 15 minutes from a short walk from the hotel. Tickets can be bought from the hotel which are 1.50 Euro. It must be taken care however to get to the either of the bus stations as the San Marco is just off a busy roundabout. Last bus is around 2030 which was a bit of a surprise so the only way back is a taxi (7 to 12 Euro) or there is a back lane you can walk direct from Siena down hill which takes around 20 minutes. It is a shame that the San Marco hotel was not in the centre of Siena. Having said that I can only review the hotel based on merit and I would have no hesitation on recommending it to anyone. Just one final note the staff are very helpful and a special mention to Riccardo who went out of his way to ensure we caught the correct buses to both the town and Siena without any hastle. He was a perfect example of a someone going above and beyond for the customer and made the stay a better one. Thank you Hotel San Marco for a pleasant visit
This hotel is situated next to a fairly busy road, but due to the silent proof windows it doesnt bother that much. Beds are pretty hard, shower mediocre though the rest of the room is clean and big enough. Dont expert anything of the breakfast, it is better to go out in the city. So now the good stuff; a big plus for the location (easy by car) and from the hotel to the city centre of Siena around 10 euro's for a taxi, better then wander around with your own car with the risk on a fine when driving in a restricted area (not easy to spot in busy local traffic). Which leads to another plus; the service. They helped us calling to the muniscipality because we drove into this restricted area and were afraid of them fining us. So after this stressful time it was great to relax in the wellness of the hotel, which was beautiful. The whole area was newly build; a great Turkish steambath, the Finnish sauna was bloody hot (nice), with a bucket of fragranced water (lemon), a good whirlpool and nice relaxing beds. We were lucky that we were the only guests so a privat sauna with robe, towel and slippers + 2 hours in the wellness for 15 euro's was an absolute bonus during our trip. Overall it is a basic hotel, where things definetly can be improved, but they are also doing a few things right!
Rooms are sparse and not inviting and a very basic not the sort of place you want to stay at for anything other than an emergency. The hotel is not close to the centre of the city and the bus ride can be problematic
Good value for its location. Approximately a 20 minute walk to Siena city centre. There is a local bus if you don't want to hike up. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is clean. Air conditioner is good. Good connection to wifi. We purchased the option that included breakfast. Not the best but convenient given that we weren't going back into city centre in the morning. We got to this hotel via taxi from the bus terminal (we took a bus from Florence to Siena) but there is parking available for those arriving by car. We stayed one night before picking up a rental car from Europcar that is approx. 3.5km away from the hotel.
