Sheridan Inn, BW Signature Collection

Booked a large room for my mother, my dog and I to share for a night as we drove across country. Chose the king-suite option so we would all have room. That more expensive room turned out to be at the top of the stairs in a very central and noisy part of the hotel. I asked for something that wasn't as central and noisy. I was provided a different room that was much smaller, with a smaller bed, no sofa, and no shower. I asked for a refund of the difference in the room cost and they refused as it was not within the 14 day window to change rooms. Feels like a big rip off and a bit of a bait and switch with the “nice” room being located in the worst location…

We booked and paid for a room at this hotel a couple of months ago, we arrived in Denver yesterday to start our road trip only to be told that they had cancelled our booking as they were overbooked! This has caused us so much distress and upset at the beginning of our holiday.. we have struggled to find other suitable accommodation in such a short space of time.. this sort of Customer Service is unforgivable.. and has completely spoilt our holiday.. they did not even send us an apology just cancelled the booking, I have never been treated so badly by a Hotel

The Historic Sheridan Inn may be beautiful and historically interesting, but two practical details deserve to be disclosed up front: * No TVs in the rooms, which may surprise guests expecting standard hotel amenities. * At least some rooms have high-sided clawfoot tubs, which can be difficult to enter and exit, particularly for older travelers or anyone with mobility concerns. Those are exactly the kinds of details that can turn a charming historic stay into an uncomfortable one. We left within minutes of checking in after discovering the room didn't meet our expectations.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The front desk staff were so friendly and polite, I got the impression that they really enjoyed their job and took pride in the hotel. The room was lovely and there was so much care taken with the towels and toiletry displays in the bathroom. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing history, good location, nice rooms, friendly staff, cool historic bar, might need to be patient at breakfast if the hotel is busy

Its always a great place to stay but at twice the price of the other places in town. I couldn't justify staying there this time.

Very disappointed. I realized I chose a non-refundable rate, but when I couldn't travel with a broken leg, they wouldn't even work with me. It would have been nice if they at least refunded my bonus rewards.

We had a wonderful stay at the Best Western Sheridan Center. The history and unique character of this property truly set it apart. It was such a cool experience knowing that so many notable figures have stayed here over the years — you can really feel that rich Western heritage woven into every corner. One of our favorite moments was relaxing with a glass of wine on the rocking chairs out front, just taking in the charm and atmosphere. It felt like stepping back in time in the very best way. We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip out West and highly recommend it to fellow travelers looking for a stay with personality and history.

Quite a mixed bag. The good: charming as hell. The 22 themed rooms (named for historical guests who all stayed here, like Annie Oakley, Sitting Bull, and Bill Hickok) are a brilliant idea. The location is good, not great for downtown walking, especially in October when I visited. But just a five minute drive. The lobby smelled great from some fragrant candle they were burning, and there are two fireplaces and many cozy leather couches and chairs to hang out in. Historical photos and objects are everywhere. The common spaces are great. There are free custom chocolates waiting for you, very unexpected at this price, and my room, among the cheapest, was very spacious. My room had a nice desk area and a big leather arm chair and ottoman facing the bed. The bathroom was a particular plus, with a big clawfoot tub, and a wealth of high quality toiletries that far exceeds most hotels at this level. Towels are very soft, and not at all crunchy. The restaurant and bar (a gift to Buffalo Bill from Queen Victoria herself) are charming and the food passable. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel desk staff that I encountered are actually American (rare enough these days) and very friendly. The bed was very comfortable, and the bedding is contemporary and fresh seeming. No gross polyester bedspread to have to toss in the corner by fingertips. The bad: The lighting is a problem. There aren't many lights, and they're all about 20w yellow bulbs, and the windows are small, meaning the rooms are dark. Tough if you have to get any work done. I like that my Wild Bill room had a couple pictures of him, but they were sparse, and left the long shotgun walls mostly bare and cold. The other decor is western themed, but of the cheap, made in India/built from scrap lumber sort. Pure pastiche, and thin at that. There's no gym, no mini frig (a problem for us road trippers carrying food), and no TV at all. Kind of liked that, but still not ideal for most people. The ugly: my God, the noise. The trains that shake the whole building all night long bothered me less than the fact I could hear every footstep and every door slam seemingly in the entire hotel, upstairs and down. I was saved by staying out of season so the activity was relatively modest. But my whole bed shook from a group of people walking down the hall, UPSTAIRS. The windows are single paned and I could hear every car from blocks around. And the hotel is on the corner of a main artery. I was woken up several times through the night by all of these things. I'm afraid this alone might keep me from ever returning. But if I do I'll ask to be on the SW corner, furthest from the train and the road. And the restaurant. I went to bed around 9pm, and my room suddenly filled with the powerful smell of what I can only describe as a very garlicky pizza, as if an oven was venting directly into my room. I literally made my nose burn and my eyes water. It lasted an hour (about when the restaurant closed, which was just below my room) and then went away. Charming, but I'm leaving more sleep deprived than any hotel stay ever. A shame, because it's close to being a real bargain. But you can't call not sleeping a deal.

Classic. Cozy. Lovely amenities. The effort to respect the originality and the people who contribute to the establishment is very clear. They've made upgrades and updates that make it wonderful and comfortable. So much charm here and pride in what The Sheridan Inn has meant to the progress of Sheridan itself. Really amazing historical items on display. Within walking distance to some great restaurants.

I entered the hotel with limited expectations. I left feeling surprised and pleased with what I had encountered! A truly historic gem. For anyone interested in the Gilded Age or the history of the American railroad, this place is a must-see! The lobby and the wrap-around porch are a step back to the past. Our room was nicely appointed. It is clear that attention when into creating rooms reflecting history. Clean and comfortable. No TV! Excellent WIFI. The comfy mattress, bedding and towels are definitely up-to-date!! Breakfast was minimal, but coffee was available in our room. So, enough to start the day! (Be sure to ask the receptionist to share the binder with the history, documents and photographs!)

Not over impressed with this hotel. But it is only a two star on booking . com. Room Was very dark because of poor lighting. No shower curtain around bath. Plug in sink didn't work. It is an old building though.

The first night our room had no heat! The day we arrived the HVAC repair people had been in our room to repair the HVAC unit. Did the check to see if it worked? Mid 40's that night, cold room. Two electric heaters were provided the next morning that warmed the room for the rest of our stay. Not exactly central heating. The Historic Sheridan Inn is a great place to stay. The history of the inn is interesting along with the historic pictures everywhere and the architectural drawings of the inn. The staff are wonderful, especially one of the best assets of the hotel, Mireya who always has a smile and warm greeting. We visit Sheridan twice a year to visit family; for the past six years we have stayed four to six nights at the Historic Sheridan Inn. In years past The Inn and the Best Western Sheridan Center, three blocks away, have shared shuttle service based at the above Sheridan Center to the Sheridan Airport, but not this year. For some reason the management at the Historic Sheridan Inn had decided that that was not a service to offer their guest. A very short sited decision. There is but one taxi service with maybe two drivers in Sheridan. For an average room rate this past trip of $236/night I feel that the shuttle service needs to be included. Even though the Open Range Restaurant, as I understand, is not part of the hotel it is a pleasure to have a fine eatery in the hotel. Breakfast service is adequate. Over the past few years breakfast service has change its location in the hotel to different rooms; this past May the service was in the hotel lobby with guest and diners crossing paths that proved to be a little awkward and clunky. A consistent breakfast service with good coffee is needed. Not Keurig. On our last visit we were told that a new full service breakfast service was coming soon. We will see.

The location is good well kept grounds, with wild rabbits hopping about. Wide veranda to sit on and watch the world go by. Room was comfortable. No shower but a deep roll top bath. No tv some say it's a blessing. Restaurant on site provides ala carte dining. Other meals are available. Its not cheap but good service and helpful attentive staff. Breakfast was a let down. It located in the lower lobby. I've had some memorable breakfasts and this one wasn't one of them. Very dull lighting, usual over cooked scrambled egg with sausages. There was a selection of fruit to choose from. There were no glasses for the fruit drinks. Too basic for such a hotel with all the history attached. Could do better.

I'm biased, I love trains so when it came time to book a hotel in Sheridan for a one-night stop this was an obvious choice. You can sit on the front porch and watch the BNSF freight trains switching in the nearby yard or just running through town. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the entire hotel has historic charm. Each room is named after a famous person (local or national acclaim) with a one-page story providing more background. My wife and I had a room on the second floor with a king-size bed. Our only slight complaint/disappointment was that our bathroom had a clawfoot tub (very cool) with a handheld shower (rather awkward). There is a small continental, free breakfast with the usual stuff. The hotel personnel from the front desk folks to the housekeeping staff were extremely polite and engaging. Wish we could have stayed longer but I doubt my wife would have appreciated me staying glued to the front porch and the trains!

It was our first time to Sheridan. We stayed at the Sheridan Inn because it is historical and pretty close to everything downtown. And we are happy we did. The Inn is very attractive from the street with plenty of parking around the back, so it does not interfere with the appearance from the front. The large lawn area and the porch were very inviting, but it was pretty cold when we were there, so we did not spend much time in those areas. The lady who greeted us was extremely friendly and helpful, as was everyone we encountered. The lobby is warm and inviting and the fireplace had a fire in it the second night we were there. We had to sit near it and soak in the warmth because it was quite chilly outside. We stayed in the Lillian F. Smith room. It was very nicely refurbished. The bedroom area was rather small, but adequate; the bathroom was plenty roomy with a claw-foot tub and nice porcelain sink and water closet. We loved the covers and blankets on the bed - they were of a Western theme, and they kept us very warm. The mattress was just the right firmness for us, so we slept quite well. Breakfast consisted of fruit, yogurt, bread items, and a little ham and cheese. Coffee was made from K cups, but they did make a fresh-brewed pot upon request. The dining room and all of the common areas were very nice. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that there was an art collection in the basement. It contained some nice surprises - be sure to ask about it so you don't miss it. The Inn is close to several places to eat, plus they have their own on-site restaurant, The Open Range, which is quite good (I will write a separate review on it). You have to watch your head in rooms on the upper floors because the sections of ceiling between windows hang low. If you are a tall or large person, you might want to opt for one of the larger rooms. But even with the smaller room, I was able to take a nap while my wife went out into the spacious hallway, where they have comfortable over-stuffed chairs, and read. There are a lot of places where you can just hand out here. I highly recommend this place.

Very historic building but rooms are sparse, lobby was dark, manager was less than helpful. We left without even asking for a refund. Room just had a bathtub, no shower, no tv. Honestly it was a bit creepy. We decided to keep driving to Cody rather than stay the night.

We visited Open Range restaurant inside the hotel The meal was fantastic ! Enjoyed the pork chop, and a New York strip. Had a fantastic wedge salad also. The server was exceptional, Walking us through the menu and making great recommendations about the winelist. She was extremely attentive to our table in spite of getting a 10 top and her section at nearly the same time. All the staff seemed like they were trained well and experienced. Really nice meal !

Mixed feelings about this hotel. The staff are all friendly and helpful. However our room was up in the attic and very small. The bathroom was probably bigger with a roll top bath and hand held shower. All the touches are there in the way of toiletries etc. No TV and the room was very dark both in the day as only one window and at night as only two lamps. Scones at breakfast were good but choice was limited. Food in restaurant in evening was good but this is a separate business from the hotel so you can't charge to room.

Over Priced, Noisy, just seemed like any roadside motel. over rated, wont be back, There are many better choices in Sheridan to Stay, The Inn wasnt what we expected at all, Disappointed with the room, small cramped., noisy area, lots of traffic, Trains, horn honking, couldnt sleep well at all , food was over priced, as most things and places we saw in Sheridan'

This is first class all the way! Lovely and charming 1893 historic hotel. Amazing all the way around. Think Buffalo Bill, who auditioned people for his Wild West show, right on the front lawn. He then bought the land next to the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and staged his wild west show. Think Teddy Roosevelt, Ned Buntline, Queen Victoria, Texas Jack, Annie Oakley. Etc. Etc. Etc. AND it's honest to God haunted, and we don't believe in that stuff. Great breakfast. Take my word for it. History buffs will faint, women will swoon.

Looking for a unique clean interesting place to stay? We highly recommend The historic Sheridan Inn. Helpful and friendly staff, to a great location. Each room is named after one of Cody's friends/ associcates from the Wild West show. Complete with a book to read out my name interesting characters! We only stayed the night, but plan to return in a couple years with all the restorations to the cellar and breakfast area are complete.

This hotel has sooooo much potential. The rooms are beautifully appointed and there is so much history here. I would give it a 5 but there's no restaurant. Michael at the front desk has been very helpful. Sheridan is not a destination center but I wanted to stop and see the Kendrick mansion. So much Wyoming ranching history and I've been reading a historical novel set in that time period so makes sense to check it out. You can get a good deal on a room through booking agencies and if you love historic hotels, check it out!

Such a cool historic hotel!! Each of the rooms are themed in some way. Awesome history to explore! We loved our stay here! We are a family of six & they accommodated us well. Since this is a Best Western, just a few things. There are minimal normal hotel things. No one is on site after like 10pm, so call ahead if you're going to check in late & make sure you have everything you need before then. No pool, no downstairs coffee, computer, tea, tvs, etc. No tv in our room. No closer. It's historic! So the rooms, lobby & overall vibe is straight out of the late 1800's / early 1900's. Parking is around the back & a bit of a walk to your room. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. Gorgeous bathroom in our room. We were in Room #307 & it was perfect for our family of 6. None of these were negatives for us! We loved stepping back in time & stepping out of the boring hotel norm for a night.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay at this graceful and historic hotel. We asked for a quiet room and were given 308. The quietest rooms seem to be on the 3rd floor, which has smaller windows so brighter light bulbs would have been appreciated. Tiled bathroom was nicely renovated. Staff: very welcoming and provided good dinner recommendations. Complimentary breakfast was all made on site. Would stay here again.

We expected a charming old hotel. When we arrived, we found an old hotel, with small dark rooms and limited amenities. Our room had a small window with no view. There was an uncomfortable musty order. There was no place for our clothes except for a 2 foot bar in the room which I guess was the closet. We expect at least a small refrigerator but not here. The hotel is not in the best neighborhood and we were uncomfortable leaving our car. Although the hotel had a no refund policy, we left and went to another hotel. We have spent hundreds of nights at hotels during our travels; this is the first hotel that did not meet our minimal standards. I have no idea the origin of the glowing TripAdvisor reviews. Do not stay here!

We had an elegantly restored private room, bath and seating area on the 3rd floor. I love the huge front porch and grounds. Be prepared to step back in time and still be spoiled with a modern bathroom with a beautiful tiled shower and a rain-head shower.

Our stay at the Inn was short, but perfect. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. Our room was lovely and the history of the Inn was very interesting. The Inn has great character and I would definitely come back if the opportunity arose!!

Please do not stay at this hotel!!!! I got to the hotel late at 11:30 pm after a terrible 8 hour drive, only to find a note on the door saying that I had to pick up the keys to my room at another hotel. The women at the best western downtown had no information for me, handed me the keys and said she had no idea where I could park or get into the hotel. The door into the hotel was wide open and not locked, the lobby was completely dark and and not a soul in sight. I went up the creaky stairs to my room. The room was a closet, freezing and there was no shower, only a bath tub. I was by myself in this room with not even a dead bolt on the door and honestly I was a little creeped out. I immediately called the Hampton inn and was welcomed with courtesy and they got me into a room as soon as I arrived. I left the keys and a note at the dark, empty front desk explaining my disappointment for their complete lack of customer service and requested a refund. When I called the next morning to follow up the front desk, there was no apology but the gentleman proceeded to not only tell me they were not refunding my stay but raised his voice and told me all the things that I did wrong…I booked through a third party (my company's travel agent), they didn't have my direct number, I didn't call and let them know I was going to be late… and on and on and on. I asked him why he was yelling…he continued on his rant. I was so put off with him and this experience that I hope this can spare anyone coming through this cute town this kind of experience. If my follow up call with him would have been spoken with sympathy And respect, I would have understand and happily paid the invoice, but they obviously could care less about catering to their customers. The sad thing is that I come up here monthly to help with a special surgery at the hospital and I will never come near that place again. I travel every week for work and I can honestly say that I have never had this experience in my life.

The Sheridan inn offers nothing in the way of usual hotel facilities, it's fair to say it was hardly open. No reception staff - lobby like Marie Celeste on arrival with outer doors locked. No Bar facilities, no restaurant facilities, no fridge in room, no TV, no Safe. The breakfast voucher was worth $8 across the road. On check in when someone turned up they wanted a cred card for “incidentals” which they couldn't register as the card reader wasn't working. The view from the “room with a view” is attached. About the only thing you could say is that it had a bed in a room with running water and electricity

What a gorgeous, well maintained beautiful piece of history. The updates are all done with the utmost detail to the history of the place. Traffic is a bit loud while trying to enjoy the expansive porch, but a lovely place to sit all the same. Check in was a bit of mess with a new computer system, but not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. The restaurant across the street in the old depot was absolutely the best breakfast I've had in ages. Will definitely stay here again in the future and hope to enjoy the hotel's restaurant at some point.

Many older hotels have updates that are mildly cosmetic and impractical..this one is wonderful Beautiful bathroom with perfect tile and claw foot tub, geothermal air conditioning, a font porch with wonderful rockers facing a park and trains coming y often, and a book about local history in your room...I would for sure stay here again. You are in the heart of the historic downtown and have ample parking. One regret is breakfast was not available across the street on Monday, so we had home Meade burritos/salsa and yogurt neither of which is my thing, but that was minor compared to the lovely late afternoon on the porch, the super friendly staff and the gorgeous decor. STAY HERE!

Not many hotels like this! What a fun and unique hotel. You could truly feel the history in the building. Beside the hotel's unique character, it was well-maintained, very clean, quite comfortable and the team members I encountered were super friendly. Plus the restaurant they partner with to provide breakfast service was unique in itself and had a great prime rib omelette. I hope to get to stay in this hotel again soon.

A unique hotel where every room is named for a person with a connection to Buffalo Bill Cody. We stayed in the Sitting Bull room which has photos of Sitting Bull and a book about his life. Next door is the Annie Oakley room, and down the hall is the Bill Cody room, among others. The room is comfortable. No tv. Craft breweries are down the street along with several good restaurants. If you are coming to Sheridan to see the nearby Brinton Museum, you should consider this place.

We love staying in historic hotels if we could so this was very special for us. This beautiful Inn was opened in 1893. My sister and I had to share a king bed because that was all that was left for the days we stayed there. It was a lovely, but small, room, The Black Elk room. We were so thrilled they had availability. It was decorated very rustic. The bathroom had a club foot bathtub and a hand held shower head. It was a little hard to take a shower without getting the floor wet and it was hard to step out of the tub without worrying about tripping out as it was slippery. There were nice fluffy towels. Be aware that there are not tv's in the rooms. The lobby is big and very Western looking. You could just picture Buffalo Bill Cody walking around there. He used to have auditions for his Wild West Show on the front lawn of the Inn. A nice continental breakfast is included with the room and is served in what used to be their fine dining restaurant, the Open Range. It's too bad that the restaurant is now closed. Offered for breakfast was cereals, hard boiled eggs, juices, breads, pastry, yogurt. The beautiful bar in the restaurant was a gift to Buffalo Bill Cody from Queen Victoria of England. The Sheridan Inn is conveniently located for a trip to The Little BigHorn Battlefield, which is about an hour north. There is parking on the side of the building. The only thing I was disappointed about was that the beautiful statue of the couple dancing on the front lawn that I have seen in pictures was moved somewhere else. All the staff were very nice and friendly. If you like staying in historic inns and hotels, this should not be missed.

This is a very unusual old building steeped in western history! We can me for Oklahoma to visit the Sheridan, Big Horn Mountain area, many times, our favorite destination, We have our 55th. anniversary this year and are planning on staying there again in May, Neat old historic building, ck lean, QUIET, o not one TV in the whole place! no telephone in the rooms, my kind of place! If walls could talk, the Sheridan Inn would be worth listing to!

Very beautiful place full of history and close to downtown. I enjoyed the building and the history that went with it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and had a lot of knowledge about it's history. The only reason I only gave it four stars is the bar and restaurant were closed for the season which is understandable. Otherwise it was a beautiful stay and enjoyed it greatly.
