"Overnight stay with grandsons"

The room was clean n beds were comfortable. No working phone in the room. heat didn't work very good, cold all night. "Swimming pool" is actually an old therapy pool. It's 3ft deep and was full with 5 of us in it. Breakfast was almost completely gone by 9am and no one came to replenish it. I had to take my grandsons to eat when we checked out.

"Dirty guest rooms"

The rooms are dirty and gross. We were traveling with multiple families for a sporting event and several had to change rooms due to the cleanliness and smell. Our room had a dirty bathroom and cigarettes on the ledge by the tv. It smelled so musty too. I would never stay here again.

"Staff is nice!"

My family stayed here while attending a sporting competition held at Kalahari. The rooms were clean, but are not big and the term "suite" is a little misleading as there is a couch, but no extra pullout bed that we, and I know a few of the other families, were counting on. No warm breakfast, but a nice selection of grab-n-go items, including fruit, oatmeal, yogurt and microwavable sandwiches. Front desk receptionists very nice and helpful. Overall, it met our needs.

"Not clean"

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the property itself was disappointing. The bathroom was dirty, and the shower didn't work properly. The walls had stains on them, and it just seemed neglected. If we had arrived earlier in the evening we would have left.

"Need some upgrades"

I was very impressed with the room and how spacious it was. The front desk employee, Sherri was awesome. She was the definition of hospitality. Compared to other Best Western Plus locations, this was a little disappointing. The breakfast needs drastic change and some items in the room need replaced and updated.

Best Western has not always been my first choice for hotels but after reading reviews for this hotel I decided to try it out this trip. I am glad I did, from the time of being greeted on entrance to my exit the next morning I was delighted to be there. The staff was amazing. Whatever I needed they were there to help me out. The room and bathroom was CLEAN and had NO MOLD! All parts of the building that I entered was clean. Everyone was very pleasant. You have me thinking it is time to look again for another stay at Best Western.

If I could have cancelled I would have. Not only was I charged a different price than I was quoted on the phone, I was told I was unable to cancel since it was less than 24 hours. While the employees who worked there were very nice, the room was not up to Best Western standards and this was a Best Western Plus. The curtains were torn. Rug was old, worn is spots and in need of a deep cleaning. The room itself was tired and in need of updating. When I contacted BW afterwards, I was met with indifference and unwillingness to address my concerns. Having been a loyal Best Western guest I was quite disappointed in the 800 number customer service and will no longer be staying in this hotel chain.

"Never Again at Best Western"

An absolutely terrible experience. We were quoted a rate by phone while driving to the hotel a few hours before arriving. During the call we asked if that was the total and we were told yes. We were also told we would not be allowed to cancel the reservation. We arrived to find a tired hotel room with shredded curtains, threadbare carpet, gack in the bathroom fan and a closed pool. This was not a Plus location. We were then charged a higher amount than quoted. We called Best Western customer service and were told we were lying about the difference in price and they could give us a couple points towards a future stay. We asked for their proof that we were mistaken and were told no that it is an internal document only. We only asked for them to honor the original quote and not a full refund due to conditions. I am shocked over their attitude. As a long time customer of Best Western they have seen the last of us.

"Horrible experience... You've been warned!"

Horrible experience. My reservation was changed without my knowledge. The room had hair from other guest on the bed, in the pillow. Bathroom looks like shower is nvr cleaned. Look elsewhere. You've been warned!

"Great place"

Is a great place. The staff are awesome there and good not ask for better. I recommend staying here. The beds are so comfortable and they did the job. Close to Cedar Point I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel room its self was not clean, there were stains on the bed and sofa. The sofa had holes in the arms and in these holes there were staples sticking out. One of which cut through my pants and into my leg.

"Good experience despite some things"

Was a good experience despite no wash rags being provided and room only being serviced once in the 4 nights I was there. I took dnd off door at or before 11am every morning and still my room was only serviced once those 4 nights I was there. They did not provide wash rags, you had to request them and only once did they actually have some. We had to use hand towels. Staff was very friendly and helpful though. I really liked all the staff

Excellent experience in a remodeled Best Western Plus, Sandusky, Ohio. Our room was larger than other hotels we stayed in on our 8 city tour. The staff was very friendly and provided for our needs, including help with laundry services. We left an Ipad there and received a call from Sherry before we realized our error. My compliments to all. The only short coming was in the breakfast, owing to Covid considerations.

The hotel met expectations with clean rooms that were comfortable. The price was a reasonable one. Great front desk person who really wanted guest to enjoy their stay. She even tracked down a needed item or two without being efficient and keeping a smile. Although while being under staffed.

Our room was nicely cleaned and the front desk lady was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed a fast breakfast of sausage sandwiches, but were a little disappointed that they didn't have their regular breakfast buffet up and running yet. The lady in charge of breakfast was very kind about the choices available. Overall, it was a great overnight stay.

The entrance was nice. Once you got off the elevator an in the hallway every thing was grimy, dusty an nasty. Then when we got in the room it was clearly not swept at all. The sheets when we pulled them back all 3 beds had popcorn crumbs, food stains on the pillows, mud an cologne smell all over the sheets. The tables were nasty. The floor edges no joke had a 1/2 inch thick of dust. We took pictures an went to front desk. She said Tatiana was new an had many complaints. The front desk clerk never once apologized. We requested 3 sets of sheets an we went up stairs and slept with only sheets because the other stuff was all nasty. But we were so desperate after 12 hours at Cedar Point in the hot sun we had to make due. When we went to shower the towels were all nasty dirty. We gave up an slept. In the morning my husband went down an had to get towels an wash clothes. Never got an apology. We will NEVER stay here or another Best Western EVER! I booked with you because you had the open suite. Now I know why it was open. People who reviewed this hotel as a 4 or 5 are blind an dirty if they thought this place was ok. We only stayed because the kids were exhausted an no other hotel could accommodate our family of 6in the area. I changed the sheets an the kids were out or we would have just drove home.

"Baseball tournament"

Thank god we were not in the room a lot. It was damp and smelled, not very clean, it was close to all amenities that we needed , but not that clean and kinda gross, windows would not close and air conditioning didn't really work.

"$500+ price was too high."

I don't believe the room had a thorough scrubbing any time recently - only a surface clean. I hate seeing discoloration of any kind in and around the shower/tub area. I could see (soap?) residue on the shower wall. The outside tub base had what looked like rust in the corner. Also, there was minor debris under the sink. Not a big deal, but why was it even there if the room had been "cleaned"? Also, the hair dryer was sub par, my top sheet had a stain on it, the mattress was uncomfortable, and there were crumbs on the office chair. Carpets seemed to need a cleaning, especially in the hallway. Just because it's dark doesn't mean it doesn't get dirty. I chose BW+ because of 3 * rating. I wasn't expecting fancy, but I always expect clean. I also chose BW+ because of the unique 2 bdrm 4 qn bed suite. Would I try it again? Only if I can see my assigned room doesn't look like the details don't count. I'm sorry, but the $500+ cost of a 1 night stay was not worth the price.

Please stay away from this place. The room smelled musty and had weird stains on the bathroom walls. The carpet looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in forever. There was hair inside the microwave, and the sheets had stains. It most definitely was not worth the price. Even the common areas were not cleaned or kept up to date.I don't even understand how it had good reviews. Will not stay here again.

"Best western plus Sandusky"

Best western plus Sandusky is the only hotel I will ever stay at again in Sandusky. Price was fair employees were amazing Specifically Sherry. The hotel and rooms them selves were very clean. Hot breakfast isn't to horrible either. Has an okay pool not the best pool but the hotel staff and cleanliness of the hotel it's self makes up for that.

There were what appeared to be blood stains on the sheets/comforter and front desk staff was snippy when asked to remake the entire bed. There were kids sitting in the hallway loudly yelling at midnight-staff refused to address it.

"Nice rooms, fair price, excellent all around."

We stayed here while visiting Cedar Point. This Best Western is excellent! The rooms were newly decorated and had modern furnishings. Our room was spacious and the staff was nice. Breakfast was grab and go, hoping for better options if we visit again. We hit up McDonalds for breakfast, as did others who stayed here. I'm sure we will be back.

"Room not cleaned properly"

Room was not cleaned properly. Hair on the bed and pillows, no hand soap or wash cloths. Bathroom shower wasn't cleaned and the room didn't seem to be vacuumed. Found a few ants in the bed and on the nightstand. Wouldn't recommend.

"Worst hotel customer service ever!"

A line of guests waited at the front desk for at least 35 minutes before a guest service member appeared and when the person tried to help check customers in, that person looked like they were I from the housekeeping department . We all walked up and down the halls knocking on “staff only” doors. There was no staff around at all!

I go to at least 10 hotels around the USA. I've stayed in sketchy motels. The pool as mold in the tiles, and the water is foggy. The pool makes the whole hotel smell like a pond. The hallways also needs to be better lit up, there are dark creepy corners. The staff are rude. The front desk lady is the rudest. The sheets are not clean. Nothing is clean, at all, I've asked for more towels for my room and the lady told me to use what I have. My friend was changing in her room and the cleaning staff just busted in. The beds feel almost like they are wet and have cardboard. There was old blood on my curtains. There were wrappers under the bed and empty water bottles in the fridge. I found a dead bug in my bathtub. This place may be cheap, but find something else. This place needs to be shut down.

"quite a large hot tub"

me and a friend stayed at a best Western in Sandusky Ohio, and spent a full 10 hours at Cedar Point one of the days. we however were disappointed to find out there was no swimming pool. and just a large hot tub with jets. I dont know about everyone else but I enjoy a cool dip after a day in the sun. which did not happen, instead I took a cold shower. Yuck!

Not only did the entire floor we stayed on reek of pot, not only were the beds so hard that you couldn't even sleep on them, not only did we come back very late one night only to find our door completely open and was told that it was an accident and probably the cleaning staff left it open for several hours, but we also couldn't leave and check out on time because the elevator was broken. I was told by the front desk that we'd have to wait at least 1 to 2 hours until the technician arrived to fix the elevator before it would work. After already being two hours late on our departure I went to the front desk and asked them to help us carry our luggage down since we had five people with five suitcases staying in one of their suites and we were on the third floor. Several of us in the group physically could not carry that luggage down three flights of stairs. The person at the front desk walked up three flights, took a look at our luggage and said, and I quote “ oh hell no!“

Price was pretty high for location & amenities. The room had a very musty smell that hit you as soon as you enter the room. The bathroom was stocked with 3 bath towels for 4 people and only 1 roll of partially used toilet paper. I tried to call the front desk 3 separate times to ask for more & no one ever answered ever.

Anything we asked for, they had no problem giving or finding some sort of accommodation. The rooms were clean, service was fast and friendly, and the WiFi worked well. I am very pleased with the overall quality of the stay.

Very modern and updated. They were remodeling the lobby when we stayed there, so that was a little tore up. Otherwise the hotel is modern and has great décor. Check in was fast, even though they were busy.

Hotel was well maintained and the staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean, recently updated and would rate a 5 overall with 2 exceptions: AC wasn't working but I informed the front desk and by the time we returned from dinner it was fixed so that's really not a negative I guess. The temperature adjustment knob in the shower falls off but if you hold while turning it worked fine. The only real negative is the rooms only have double beds with no pull out in the couch. A little tight for4. Decent grab and go breakfast, was informed they normally have a hot Buffett. 10 min from Cedar Point and Sports Force Park. Room nights are overpriced but they all are in this area. Overall very happy with everything. Even the Outlaw biker club guys staying here were very nice!

We stayed at this BW on May 29-30, 2021 in room 101. The hotel is located right on Rt. 250 between Milan and Sandusky and right in the middle of the gateway to the Lake Erie islands, Cedar Point and Summit Motorsports Raceway Park with easy access to Rt. 2 and I-80. Every kind of restaurant & shopping is located near the hotel. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. Our room was clean, and everything worked well (fridge, TV, microwave & internet. The beds were comfortable. Due to Covid, the breakfasts were still "Grab & Go" bags which included breakfast sandwiches, donuts, coffee cake, honey buns, breakfast bars and other stuff. Hot coffee& tea was available 24 hrs. a day. The hotel has lots of parking in front and around back. If are you looking for a nice, clean family friendly hotel in the Sandusky area, this hotel will fit the bill.

"Unsafe area and no heat/AC"

We woke up in the middle of the night freezing and realized we had no heat. We then realized there was no phone in the room to call the front desk. We got up and went downstairs and no one was there to help. There were people in bathing suits fighting in the parking lot and it felt very unsafe. We ended up just leaving at 4am because we were so cold. Lots of hotels in Sandusky and Huron, would definitely look at other options.

We stayed here because I'm a rewards member. We checked in late and the people at the desk, while very nice, were not wearing masks. When I asked them why since their signage on the door clearly says they are required, they couldn't even find one behind the counter to put on. We would have turned around and left if it hadn't been so late. For those people who are not concerned about masks, the room was fine and appeared to be clean. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. They did provide a grab and go breakfast in the morning that was appreciated.

I booked this hotel due to all the good reviews. I wasn't really impressed. It's a newly renovated hotel with lots of art work and updates. Rooms were clean but nothing to brag about. My room was a king size with a couch; couch did not roll out. Windows could use a good scrubbing, lots of cobwebs. The lady at the front desk made sure I knew about the non-smoking clause; I don't smoke and neither does anyone in my family. With that said, our room had a stale cigarette smell under the massive amount of spray that was used to try to mask the stale stench. Room had a microwave and small fridge. Bathroom was simple with a few towels, not enough for two adults. The vent fan could use some dusting along with the heater vents. I was surprised that there was no alarm clock in our room or a hair dryer in the bathroom. The pool area is in the basement and needed better lighting. It also had a terrible musty smell instead of the usual chlorine scent. The pool is very, very small and great for young children since only goes to 3 ft 9 in deep. Did not have a hot tub. Also the room had no extra pillows or blankets like most hotels offer. Would I stay here again? Probably not.

This hotel was very nice and clean! Staff was extremely nice and caring! Very updated. Pool and fitness center was opened until 11pm which was nice. Very satisfied with our stay. We had issues with another hotel and the lady working the front desk at the best western inn was extremely nice and helped us out alot. She was very caring and very nice.

Room was freezing the heat was off upon arrival and I get that they can't have it full blast but it is winter and that should be taken into consideration. Took at least 3hrs for room to kind of warm up. Remote didn't work on the tv- the front desk has the “main remote” so they had to come up and fix it. Parking in the back is beyond stupid. Beds not very comfy.

The rooms were nice but there was thick dust on the lamps, there was dust on the headboard, the mirrors looked as if they were just wiped down, cobwebs on the ceiling and a bug was on the ceiling. Spoke to front desk about the issue but all was said I'll talk to our housekeeper because she had an attitude all week

We stayed here with a football group and they were very accommodating even to the children. The front desk staff was helpful and understanding especially seeing as we are in a pandemic. I would say the breakfast options were very very limited and that would be the only suggestion I would have is to give more options in the to go bags.

Stayed weekend for visit to Cedar Point. About 15 minute drive to CP. Great value especially compared to staying at CP- which we've done before. Everything was clean. Room was plenty big for my son and I. Microwave and fridge in room all worked OK and were clean. Had a vending area and ice on our floor. No complaints-nice place.

The stay was decent enough but for a hotel that's just recently been completely renovated, it needs a little maintenance or better housekeeping staff. Carpet in room was dirty, torn towels in the bathroom, bottles of water left in freezer and a mini bottle of fireball found in the desk drawer by my granddaughters!!! Makes you wonder what else they've overlooked. Beds are small but fairly comfortable. Small sofa in the room was nice to have. It's not a pull out though. Pool was small but clean. Great for little ones. Location is ideal, right off freeway and about 10 minute easy drive to Cedar Point or the yacht club. Tons of shopping and restaurants in the area.

This hotel was not worth the money we paid to stay! One bed wasn't made with a fitted sheet, the curtains were all stained and dirty, and the pool was tiny nothing like the pictures made it seem! Not worth what we paid at all!

Nice place to stay, clean, friendly, , but won't stay at a Best Western again if I can help it because, at least at the Sandusky, Ohio location, they use all plastics and paper with no option to recycle. Breakfast was fine but everything was throw away - plates, cups, glasses, utensils, etc. I would pay more if I knew going into a hotel that they cared about the environment. This place exceeded my expectations. We came here in the winter, so the hotel was less busy than usual, but everything was clean and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable and the shower nice and hot— really important when the weather is freezing outside. The complimentary breakfast was great, really nicely maintained. We did not use the pool or fitness center, so I can't speak to those.

There was just so much wrong with this hotel. I booked a stay for our anniversary and was immediately disappointed the minute I walked in. I'm not one to complain, but the two star hotel that I stayed at two miles away the same night was much better than this one that is somehow rated 2 1/2 stars. As soon as I walked in, I felt a bad vibe but wanted to give it a chance because I didn't know what else I was going to walk into. For starters, the lobby looked dark and dreary and the whole hotel smelled funny, like humid and musty. We were greeted by two staff members who just didn't look professional. We checked in and were given our keys and were told to make sure our jacuzzi worked correctly, which kind of worried us- why not make sure our jacuzzi worked before we came in? We went to see the game room that looked like it hadn't been updated since the early 2000s, and the business center was out in the open, which was kind of odd. The hallways were dark and creepy, and the hallways and stairwells needed vacuuming. The stairwells especially looked just simply pitiful, just not welcoming. We went up to our room and our room looked dreary and we found several things that could have been better, first of which was the smell. I first checked out the bathroom, which was small, and the sink and sink fixtures were filthy. The bottom of the toilet bowl was stained. The jacuzzi was very small and the faucet and handles of the faucet were also not clean. The whole area just looked cheaply made. Furniture had some wear and tear even though the hotel is apparently newly remodeled. Lamps needed dusted. The windows and window sill really needed cleaned. The king size bed looked okay at least but we didn't stay long enough to try it out. The remote to the TV was in a fabric bag that said 'fresh remote' but if the rest of the hotel was this dirty, why would the remote be 'fresh?' One of the worst parts was the really loud exhaust fan for the jacuzzi, that I turned on to check out. The timer for the jacuzzi had faded numbers. We then headed to the elevator to go to the basement, and noticed that a trash can was overflowing with bags of trash, the linen closet was open even though no one was there, and plants were in plastic planters that were just sat in ceramic planters- who does that? Take the time to actually plant the plant in the ceramic planter! Again, the area needed vacuumed. The elevator was weird too, you could see down the elevator shaft with the door closed and even the elevator needed vacuumed. When we got to the basement, it was just creepy. It was dark, especially humid and especially musty. The fitness center and pool area looked remodeled in the last 5 years or so but the basement was generally unfinished, and there were unfinished parts of the fitness center and pool area. The door of the pool area was full of rust from condensation and left rust on my hand! The basement just generally looked like it had been under construction and they just gave up. There was an area that looked like it could have been under construction but it wasn't properly blocked off. I didn't dare check out the bathrooms in the basement because they were simply unwelcoming. We agreed that this was not a hotel worth our money and asked for a refund, which I still have not received and will be talking to the company in a week if I still don't receive it by then, because we did book directly with the hotel, not by a third party. We took our business elsewhere to a hotel down the road by the turnpike and paid even LESS for that room and it was a breath of fresh air. Outside looks are deceiving! Do not book! Note to staff who will inevitably reply with their gaslighting, manipulative replies that try to downplay bad reviews- don't even bother.

I'm not sure how to respond to that myriad of issues you had with our hotel. The hotel has been COMPLETELY refurbished with new furniture, carpet, equipment, etc. While we appreciate that there might be some issues that needed attention during your stay, it would be much more effective (and worth your time) to let a property know that WHILE you're on the property. Not giving us an opportunity to fix issues does no one any good--not you the customer nor we the business that are constantly trying to improve and grow. My response is also not trying to downplay a bad review. It's just good business to respond to folks and let them know that we're interested in hearing feedback and knowing where we could improve. Doing otherwise or ignoring your feedback altogether would absolutely confirm that we don't care--and that's not the case. Additionally, our great reviews come from people who actually stayed with us--not people passing by judging the property on the outside looks. Our overall great reviews come as a result of our tireless staffs' attention to detail and our ability to deliver a great product at competitive rates. We gladly let you out of your obligated reservation and were able to re-rent the room without issue. The release of funds used on debit cards are strictly between a bank and its customers--we have nothing to do with that. At any rate, thanks for staying with us. We hope your next stay will be more akin to the hundreds of positive reviews that we've gotten for our beautiful and well-appointed property.

"Better Than Expected"

Our room was clean, we were upgraded to one bedroom suite room with 4 beds, thanks to Sherry, who was extremely lovely to us, after a long day at Cedar Point. :) Yummy breakfast. The wi-fi was a decent speed. Decent television channels. The upgrades were nice. Only negative was the pool and fitness center are in the basement, which was a little creepy to me but the kiddos didn't mind. There were doors open that should not have been open down there.

I was disappointed. The beds were very comfortable, however, the ac filter was filthy and the lamps hadn't been dusted in ages. The coffee pot was missing and the toilet paper roll hadn't been changed from the prior guest. We were told we could access the pool at the hotel next door which was odd.

First off, the staff was always very nice and polite. But when I walked in the room, I couldn't believe the smell. It was really strong mold and mildew, awful. I tried turning in the AC but that made it worse. That could be where the smell was coming from. It was horribly strong. Stains were on the AC, the carpet was lumpy, floor was dirty, bed made me itchy, stains in bathroom. I couldn't believe all the good reviews. The only thing that was nice the next day was the breakfast. I don't know if I got the only bad room or what but I couldn't wait to get out of there and if it wasn't so late I would have gone to another hotel. I didn't complain. Just slept, ate, and got out of there.

Stayed here August 2019 as I was going to Cedar Point. Check in was quick and easy, and the girl working the front desk was welcoming and helpful. Room was clean with modern amenities, though I found the bathroom to be on the darker side since there is only the one overhead light in the corner. The breakfast buffet is average but good for being free with a decent selection. There is a pool at this hotel in the basement, though it was more like a large jacuzzi set at the temperature of a pool, but I was told on check in that I was able to used the pool at the hotel next door if I wanted. The hotel is close to many restaurants and is about a 10 min drive to Cedar Point. This was my second time staying at this hotel, the last time being in 2016.

Sherry was working the front desk on the evening that we arrived and she without hesitation or having us stand around trying to figure out what that site did wrong, and she quickly and efficiently got me and my children settled into 2 beautiful, 2 bed and baths room/suite which were adjoining rooms. Obviously that alone made things incredibly easy and comfortable for me as a mother. I hope that Sherry gets the great recognition that she must certainly deserves and give credit, eve credit is due! "Quiet get away"

The king size bed with the jacuzzi tub was the perfect room for a couples get away. The room was large, well lit , quiet and comfortable. Even the the hotel seemed very busy, our room was quiet and relaxing. The breakfast selection was great and the dining area clean and comfortable. The staff made sure our meal items were well stocked.

Check in: This process took 20 minutes. I was second in line behind a group that had endless questions for the desk attendant who had been working there about one week. When she called the manager for help things started to improve but I still stood waiting for about min before the manager addressed me and asked if I was waiting to check in. After checking in (at 4:30 pm), I had to wait an additional 5-10 min for confirmation that the room had been cleaned. If my check in is at 3:00 pm, this should not be a question at 4:30 pm. TV/Remote: I was told up front that the TV might not work due to a power outage a couple nights before. When I turned it on there was no signal. I called the front desk and this was quickly fixed. The size of the TV was very good though. Cleanliness: There were some kind of food remains in front of the couch and between the bed and one of the nightstands as well as a soda bottle cap. Housekeeping cleaned once and all were left there. Housekeeper: Knocked on the door shortly after I checked in and before I could stand up to go to the door barged in telling me he was dropping off towels. The room had just been cleaned, I had plenty of towels. Very unhappy that he just barged in. Toilet: barely worked.....

I can't believe that there are any reviews less than five stars on here because this is a fabulous hotel. It is practically brand new and our room was extremely clean. The bathroom is always an indicator of overall cleanliness and ours was spotless (see attached pictures). I also can't believe how many free amenities were left in our room (soaps, shampoos, etc). Linens and towels were fresh. Staff was very friendly. I love that this hotel is green and cares about the environment. Parking was abundant even for the 26 foot truck we arrived in. Lobby was beautiful. Location was central. I wish there was a restaurant/ lounge attached but I can live with the fact that there was one just next door, 200 feet away. Great stay and I will be back.

The hotel is appealing to the eye from the outside. However, the cleanliness of the rooms leaves much to be desired. I also had problems with multiple non-working items during my 3 night stay: the toilet was clogged when we arrived; the television stopped working on the first day and had to be replaced; and the phone did not work. I go to pull out the sofa bed and pull of the cushions to the couch and find not only is it not a sofa bed as I had thought, but there is all kinds of trash and crumbs, etc. under the cushions and under the sofa! I reported this to the front desk/housekeeping staff and was told that the housekeepers do not regularly clean under the cushions or the couch! Grossssss!!! Cleanliness is always a concern of mine when staying in hotels as my family & I travel quite a bit. I would definitely not stay here again due to the lack of cleanliness alone.

It sounds as if the TV issue was resolved immediately upon your notifying us that there was an issue. It sounds as if your issues must have been resolved since you decided to stay with us another two nights after your first incident. stayed at this hotel for two nights in august. the property is close enough to Cedar Point amusement park without having problems with traffic. The breakfast buffet was inline with other chains and beats getting up and finding breakfast somewhere else. This hotel doesn't have a pool but has an agreement with the neighboring hotel if someone wants to swim. Overall it was a wonderful stay and the location makes it convenient when there is a need to get something to eat from one of the many restauarants.

Just checked out from a two night stay. We stayed here for our Cedar Point trip. We originally booked a king jacuzzi room. Only to get a call a 4 pm the day of check in saying that the jacuzzi was broken, so we wouldn't be in that room. They offered to let us cancel for free, yeah well no where else that I would have stayed for the two days was available. Offer a discount for the inconvenience, not a chance. & the boss didn't even want them to call about the room & to just tell us when we got there! So that was the first frustrating thing. When we got to our room we turned on the hall light in the room & it made a horrible loud buzzing noise, that wouldn't stop. Plugged in a straightener in the bathroom and it caused the bathroom lights to flicker. The cleanliness of the room was frustrating. I could clearly see what appeared to be popcorn under the couch in our king room, so they definitely didn't vacuum under it because it was right near the edge of the front of the couch. The couch was downright disgusting. We lifted the cushions and there was a bunch of dirt, crumbs and hair and had some staining from some sort of liquid, of who knows what. So we wouldn't sit on it or set anything on it. Bed and sheets were clean though, so theres a positive! Bed was uncomfortable though, could feel the springs in the bed. On our second night we arrived back to the hotel after being gone for 14 hours, only to find out both our keys wouldn't work. Went down to the desk, handed my keys over and told them they wouldn't work and for what room number, they didn't ask for my name to even verify i was in that room. Now for another frustrating thing, house keeping didnt leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, well we ran out at 3:40am, called front desk to see about coming down to get some, no answer. So i get up and ready, go downstairs no one at the desk. Rang the bell 4 times waited over 10 minutes and no one came up. So i had to go take a roll out of the rest rooms on the first floor. Their online website says 24hr front desk, apparently not. I also wanted a bottle of water out of the coke machine, well on floors two and three the dollar bill thing doesn't work. Thankfully the fourth floor did. The breakfast though was fantastic, can't say enough great things about it. Unfortunately due to the other things i don't think i will be back. This best western missed the mark. But i will say this, i was extremely thankful it was BUG FREE!

My husband and 2 of our kids and I all went to CP on 8/12/19. We booked online and were very happy with our stay. Granted, we didn't get there until 10pm, but we got checked in right away and went to bed. Accommodations were nice. Hotel was clean, stocked well with towels as it was a suite with double beds. I hate staying and not having enough towels! The breakfast buffet was really good and had a great selection that all ages could find something. It was clean and well maintained. Opened at 6am. I would recommend and stay here again. Don't mind that we were too tired to take pics before we slept and showered!

This place is trash. I went for 2 nights on the first night I got lice. The housekeeping is so not go there room number 107 the first bed gave me lice. The pool is also really bad. Go to comfort in for a better experience

Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience with our hotel--although we DO question whether or not you have the correct hotel--because as you can see by our vast amount of really great ratings, this is not the normal type of review we receive for our award-winning property. Additionally, our property has been recently renovated and we continue to receive rave reviews about not only our physical facilities, but our amazing staff and amenities as well. As for the lice, that's serious. However, our linens are washed daily in extremely hot water and bleach and lice cannot live in that environment. I would also not stay in a hotel for a second night where I might have caught lice the first night of my stay--and if that did happen, you can rest assured that I'd be letting the hotel know about it. Unfortunately, we have nothing on record that anything of the sort was reported to ANY of our staff. I'm sorry that you experienced what you did--but I must say that I do not believe it was our hotel. We hope that if given the chance to stay in our area again, you WILL choose to stay with us or our Comfort Inn next door as we do our level-best to provide the very best accommodations to all of our guests--and that's clearly evidenced in our reviews.

Check-in was great, the staff was very courteous and the breakfast was outstanding. The hotel is only a couple of miles away from the park and 2-3 minutes drive from restaurants. My wife and I are definitely planning another trip to Cedar Point with our children and will definitely be staying at the Best Western.

Located moments away from the Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge, this is an easy hotel to find right off Highway 2. It's about a 15 minute drive from Cedar Pointe, with plenty of restaurants, Walmart, Meijer and other retail businesses. Our room was very clean and spacious, but at night and in the morning I could hear through the door and walls as people were getting up or chatting in the hallway at normal voice levels. The staff was very friendly. They have a poolside bar located at the outdoor seasonal pool. They also have an indoor pool, sauna, hot tub and their complimentary breakfast was a good variety from eggs, sausage, pancakes, yogurt, juices and coffee, cereal and quite a few other choices, and well maintained. I would stay here again, but not at their regular rates.

The hotel sits conveniently near Cedar Point and local restaurants. We had five people in our party and this hotel offered spacious rooms with double beds for everyone. The rooms were clean and stocked with ample amenities for each guest. Thoe only negative.... The staff was not very welcoming or hospitable.

We stayed in July, 2019 and the rooms were 'okay'. We had to request a new fitted sheet because ours had what appeared to be blood on it. We also didn't have a shower curtain so also had to request that. Staff did respond quickly to our requests. Our room was okay. The floor sloped so that was a bit odd. The Breakfast is amazing. By far, one of the best we have experienced. They had cereal, toast/pastries, pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, hashbrowns, egg casserole, pasta (yes pasta)! I think if in Sandusky again, we would try to find a different hotel. The soiled sheet kind of set the tone for us.

We usually love BW Plus hotels, but this one really fell short of our expectations. The rooms had been remodeled, but the elevator was absolutely disgusting. They didn't appear to have any working AC in the hallways and common areas. The rooms also felt cramped--even with a "suite". I don't really feel that it was worth the price we paid ($155/night/weekday and $205/night/weekend.

We had a great stay this week. We decided last minute to add a day at the beginning of the trip - I called and has able to easily add a day and Sherry was able to ensure had the same room for both reservations so that we didn't have to move. It was seamless. The kids loved the pool, and the room was clean and roomy. We would stay again!

The friendliest motel in Sandusky. Great staff and Carissa at the front desk was particularly helpful. We came into town without reservations at the last minute and she helped us find the room we needed. Looking forward to breakfast and a dip in the pool in the morning.

We stayed in a king suite with a jetted tub. The sign outside displayed that the hotel was remodeled. However, this was not what we discovered. The bathroom floors were dirty, pink soap scum was built up on the floor in the corner. The toilet paper holder was missing. There was a split on the footrest for the chair. The iron was broke. The carpet in the elevator had debri. While the condition of the hotel was lacking, the friendly staff were amazing. They were all very helpful. The location near Cedar Point was also very nice.

I just checked in about an hour ago and usually stay Marriott but have to stay here due to baseball arrangements. Had high hopes since it was newly renovated but quickly disappointed. Guest relations- CLEANLINESS is the highest priority. Cigarette buts (hundreds) swept into the cracks by the fountain, cobwebs/bugs all over the atrium- easy fix with a pressure washer. Room was NOT vacuumed and my daughter stepped on a beer bottle cap left by the bed on the floor!!! Elevator stainless-steel has smears and goop on it. Hallways were not swept. Blood stains on linens. What?? Come on. You may have plenty of good reviews and this may be a one off but this experience is GROSS. I'm leaving this review so that management can step it up in the cleaning department for the next group. Attention to detail please.

I booked this hotel for $144 a night which is a decent price considering the area it is in and all the surrounding attractions. I was not expecting the room to be as nice as it was. It had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and the room was very spacious. The check in and check out was ridiculously quick. Another positve for this hotel is that it is the only hotel (that I found) that allows 18 year olds to book a room.

We stopped in this hotel to try to find a room for the night before we visited Cedar Point. Clearly, we should have booked our room in advance as there were no rooms available. Sherry and Tamea were extremely helpful to us. They called other local hotels to try to find us a room and eventually they found a room for us at another Best Western 20 minutes away. We were so thankful for their help! I would highly recommend this hotel based on the excellent service. Ps. The other Best Western we stayed at down the road was great too! Great service again!

We had a reward from BW, so it worked out really well for us. We were able to upgrade to a 2 room, 4 bed suite, which was wonderful due to the 3 grandsons. they loved their own beds.Everything pretty clean and comfy. The carpet could have been swept more thoroughly, but I NEVER step on hotel carpets with my bare feet anyway. We were told we could walk next door to the comfort inn & use both their indoor & outdoor pools, which the boys loved. I liked the breakfast buffet just fine. Really liked the baked chicken!!! Nice toppings for the yogurt & oatmeal. We stayed on sunday night. Mon. breakfast had the chicken & sausage patties, scrambled eggs. All good. I don't do carbs, so I appreciated the protein! Front desk people suggested a beach in Huron & it was very pleasant & the boys had fun there. the 14 yr old fished for quite a while. You need flip flops as the sand is hot & rocky in places. There's a fee. Very easy to get to Tofts ice cream & Cedar Point.

Just got back from a 2 day stay. The front desk staff was very nice. The lobby and rooms were clean. The breakfast is over at 930a which I think is a little early to end. Especially, if you're exhausted from the parks and they don't open till 10a. The breakfast room was clean and I always saw someone filling the items when they got low. The range of items on the buffet were so weird. They would have eggs, pancakes, yogurt and toast/bagels everyday. Then they had beat type sausages with peppers (okay I get that) but then fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. It was more like brunch. The pool is super small and no hot tub. BUT, at least it was very warm water which is a nice change from most hotel pools that are freezing. Overall it was nice and we would return.

Very pleased. Good value for the price. Room was clean. We checked in fairly late, but the front desk staff was still very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was surprisingly good. Did not make use of pool or fitness center, so cannot comment on that.

Arrived at night with kids. Area around hotel a bit sketchy and run down. Could tell the hotel rooms had been updated but they were not clean. My daughter found a winged bug in her bed, I found hair in mine. ICK! Tried the free breakfast in the morning. (Typically enjoy the value when a breakfast is included in room rate.) Unfortunately, it was very disappointing and not edible (aside from the pancake machine). Food was literally laying in puddles of grease, the gravy for biscuits/gravy tasted like paste, the fried eggs were congealed together and difficult to separate. Ended up buying breakfast at a restaurant down the road. Glad we had plans to only stay one night. Will not stay here again. Positive: Front desk staff was friendly.

This place s a real gem. It looks and acts like a 5 star hotel. The lobby is fantastic, The staff are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and super comfortable. The towels are thick and thirsty and the breakfast is second to none. Stay here and you won't be sorry

Meh...that's about it. I travel a lot and rarely rate hotels, but the dirty stain I noticed On my comforter when I left was enough for me. The hotel does have above average free breakfast..and is easy to get to. But everything else is average at best. Room.not the cleanest, tv didn't work..HDMI was unplugged, I plugged it in..still couldn't get to work.

I went thinking i was gonna enjoy myself in my hotel, but when i walked up i was greeded by stains on the bed, 2 light bulbs missing in the lamps and a dirty bathroom sink. When i called down to staff they said that i had to change my bed sheets myself.

We received a very warm welcome by the lovely Sherry (I think) and greeted with popcorn and water which was a lovely gesture. The hotel has recently been refurbished creating modern, clean rooms. The beds were super comfy and the bathroom spotlessly clean. Breakfast was fairly standard but there was a wide range of hot and cold food available. We very much recommend this hotel, thank you for a lovely stay.

Room was dirty and walked in to weed smell in the entire floor and then the entire floor had a party till 3 am banging on doors slamming doors screaming and nothing was done about that. Had to have the front desk person clean the dirty bathroom and change the dirty sheets hair on the sheets and bathroom obviously it wasn't cleaned. Was told the manager would compensate me and they never did. Beds are hard as brick and just overall a horrible experience.

While we're incredibly sorry for the issues you raised during your stay, I must assure you that we, in fact, DID contact the local police department to deal with this unfortunate incident--in fact, we had to call them twice. We were finally able to get the unruly occupants of which you speak removed and evicted from the property. Anytime something like this happens, it's unfortunate--and a HUGE hassle not only to our great guests but to us also as we have to then "manage" the damage that they've caused--both physical damage as well as possible damage to the reputation of our business. I have also spoken to our General Manager and she indicated to me that she never received any in-person complaints or concerns during your check-out. Had you done that, I can assure you that you were have been properly compensated--especially in light of the fact that we had to call the police twice and the issue you raised was certainly founded. I would also encourage and advise you that, if in the future you experience any less-than-satisfactory experience in one of our hotels, that you immediately ask to speak to the manager on duty so that we have the opportunity to correct any problems. As can be seen by our overwhelmingly positive reviews, we work very hard to provide the very best accommodations to our guests and what you detail is not the norm. We hope you'll accept our apologies and know that this is an isolated incident of which we were all the victims.

The hotel is just 10-15 minutes from the park and there are plenty of restaurants and stores in the area. The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. The complimentary breakfast offered a wide variety of options.

Stay here on our second night. The staff was helpful. The place had just reopened after being updated from what we were told. Our toilet stopped working the morning we left. The pool is very small almost like a large hot tub but not very warm.

Stayed 2 nights and brought day passes to Kalahari. We saved over $700 by doing it this way. Only 10-15 minute drive to Kalahari. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the check in guy. He was very nice, attentive and thanked me for choosing Best Western. Check-in and check-out was fast. The room was clean. On the smaller size but adequate for my family of 4. Rooms come with a microwave and mini fridge. Beds were comfortable. Actually had enough towels for 4 people. We didn't use the pool as we went to Kalahari but there is an indoor pool. We didn't get up early enough to take advantage of the free breakfast so I can't comment on that. We didn't have a problem finding parking even arriving both nights around 10-11pm. We will definitely stay here again when we go back to Kalahari.

We stayed here to visit family in the area. The rooms were reasonably priced and clean. The staff was very helpful in making accommodations for two adjoining rooms. The breakfast is well above the typically breakfast offerings for hotels in the area. I used the gym in the morning which was well kept up and all the machines and equipment were working. I would definitely stay here again!

We recently stayed at this property, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The hot breakfast was wonderful and provided many options-even for my kids with food allergies! We did not utilize the pool or exercise room, but did attempt to use the internet. We ran into problems with the WIFI, but did not report them to staff as we were in and out of our room frequently. When the need for a second room arose, they were able to give us the connecting room, and allowed us to check in to that space upon my request. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the room. (I judge a hotel on how clean their bathrooms are kept, and the "hidden" corners in the rooms.). The Best Western Plus, Sandusky earned 5 stars on that area alone!

This is going to be a short review because sooo much is spot on right. PROs- This is a newer hotel so much of everything worked. None of the usual annoying maintenance items of drains that won't seal, low water pressure, appliance not working, etc. It all worked...flawlessly. Finally, a massaging shower head with enough pressure to work great. And the towels. A home run. Plush, absorbent and not the typical sand paper doubling as a loofah exfoliating tool. Breakfast was great, hot, lots of it with many choices. Great location with cheap gas and fast food nearby. Didn't used any other amenities. CONs-This was hard. From the nit-picking bag, the location is 8 miles off the main East-West corridor of Toll Road 80. But it's a block from local HWY 2 so it's quiet, but worth a drive. The metal tissue dispenser shreds the sheets as they come out, but it matches the decor. Finally they had sausages, but no bacon and ran out of bananas. Nit-picking as I said. Summary: Would I go back? You bet and look forward to it.

I decided last minute to spend my 30th birthday at Cedar Point and this Best Western helped make it all come together. Thank you Sherry for your helpfulness with booking my room, you rock! Very clean hotel, huge room with super comfortable beds and pillows. The continental breakfast had a great selection. Overall I am really happy I chose this hotel.

We recently stayed here while on a long weekend at Halloweekends at Cedar Point. This property isn't too far away from the park but just far enough that the rooms are not highly over priced. The front desk staff was friendly and polite. We had a 3rd floor room on the end of the hall. It was quite for our entire stay. The room wasn't overly impressive. It was a suite room which we hadn't planned on having but that may be what they have here. Not sure on that. There were sections of the carpet with stains, mostly at the main door. The bathroom ceiling was drop tiles. A few of them and the track had an odd rust color splatter/drip on them that could have easily have been wiped off. The lighting cover above the bathroom sink was missing. Or at least I assume it was as it was the typical hotel bathroom light above the mirror which typically has at least a defuser in it. The room had 2 double beds. I can't for the life of me figure out why hotels ever use double beds. They arn't very roomy for 2 people! However, the beds were clean and comfortable. Our tv worked with no issues and all channels programmed tuned to a crystal clear picture. Over all, if looking for a place to stay in this area again, we would consider staying here.

We chose this hotel as we are Best Western Diamond members and it was in close proximity to Cedar Point. Best Western has really tried to ramp up their game the last few years and typically the quality for the value has been exceptional. That said, this was an exception. The room was a little tired but clean. The bed could have definitely been a bit more comfortable. Generally at a Best Western when we have paid $140/night they are super nice and have wonderful staff. This time I felt the hotel was just above a budget hotel. The overall feel just didn't feel like other BW we have visited. I have to say the highlight was breakfast. You could definitely save some expense by taking advantage of the wide variety they had. I felt for a complimentary breakfast it was above average. There were hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits and a pancake machine in addition to the typical cold items such as cereal, danishes, etc. I was told by another guest you are able to use the pool and spa located next door at the Comfort Inn which would have been nice to know. The indoor pool here was small and not heated. Being it was 40-45 degrees when we returned each night we were hoping to relax for a bit, but the pool wasn't warm. It was advertised as being heated, so perhaps it was broken..I don't know. Either way, if you could get a reasonable price, this would be adequate, but during our visit we noticed much newer updated hotels that we will check out on our return trip in the next few months.

Nice hotel ...we stayed there for the was nice ..appearance was nice. however were not happy with receiving no maid service...But the maid came in to the room and took the tip off the pillow . will not stay in that best western again.

We're here for a convention at Kalahari. Less than 5 minute drive from here to convention center. Less expensive plus free breakfast! Love the biscuits and gravy. Very nice room. Clean and smells fresh.

"Ready for refurb"

The hotel was tidy but the room we had was ready for a refurb. The cardboard cups we used for hot beverages and the plastic cups we drank cold beverages from were not removed by housekeeping. We ended up disposing of then ourselves. The bed was firmer than we are used to and the air conditioning was noisy. There was a power outage which caused a problem with the set top box, this was sorted within 5 mins of being reported. The staff we met always said hi or hello or made small talk which made us feel welcome. Would consider staying here next time but not guaranteed to be first choice.

"Comfortable, Good Value"

We booked this hotel after our preferred brand that starts with an "H" wanted $50 a night more money. We were not disappointed in the least. Decent sized comfortable room, A/C operated at a reaonable noise level, TV had many options, bed comfortable and the breakfast was more than adequate. Staff were helpful and extermely accomodating. A few negatives, but really nothing the hotel can do about it. If you're on the street side, road noise from trucks could be heard all night. Not tons of it, but I did wake up a few times. Also, handicapped parking is a good distance from the door, which is also slightly uphill. That may not matter to most, but if using a walker or wheelchair it's difficult. A suggestion - a night light in the bathroom would help navigation. I had to turn a light on to get to the bathroom, making the wife none too happy. A night light would have directed me there, if present. Definately a good hotel, we will stay here again in our travels. Recommended.

"Good Staff/No Pool"

We were happy with our visit from Terry at the front desk to the congenial cleaning folks. However, to go to a pool or hot tub you have to go next door to the Comfort Inn. Overall still a good value. Location is convenient to Cedar Point and easy to access turnpike and downtown Sandusky.

"Rooms Great, Breakfast underwhelming"

Rooms had a couch and coffee table and a bigger than usual bathroom. Beds were very comfortable. Staff was good. We were scammed on a site that charged a extra $6 for a hot breakfast which was free. Breakfast was not great.There were lots of choices but the eggs were cold and toughand the pancake machine was not working

We got in late Saturday evening, of Labor Day weekend, for a two night stay while we visited Cedar Point. Immediately upon checking in we noticed the room was warm. I set the AC to lower temp and settled in. After a while it still was warm and I turned the AC down further. It didn't get better, by this time it was almost midnight. I knew the hotel was booked solid and nothing could be done about it that late. I pulled the air filters out. They were gross, clogged solid, obviously not cleaned in several months. I hoped I had found the problem and rinsed them out in the bathtub. Eventually I fell asleep but not for some time as I like a cool room. in the morning before we left I spoke to the front desk clerk about the problems and he said he would get it fixed. When we return that evening it was still the same. I immediately called the front desk and was told there was nothing they can do since there were no other rooms available. I politely made it clear to them that I was very displeased that the problem had not been rectified and that no one had bothered to call me to let me know the problem but still existed when I got back to my room after a unusually very hot day at the park. All we wanted was to take a shower and relax in a cool room which we could not do. To make matters worse the exhaust fan in the bathroom does not work. So any warmth from the shower dissipates into the room making it more uncomfortable. I seriously doubt anybody that knew what they were doing tried to fix it because I would wager money that all it needed was more freon as the compressor keep kicking on and off. I think they made a conscious decision not to call a serviceperson in as it was a holiday weekend and they did not want to pay the holiday rate that would be charged. When I complained at checkout they discounted my room by one night stay the cheaper of the two nights. We've been coming to Sandusky twice a year for the weekend for several years to visit the amusement park usually staying at a hotel down the road without complaint. as this was a last-minute trip on a holiday weekend they were booked up and I was forced to find other accommodations. I thought by the reviews that this was a dependable place. Obviously only if there are no problems it might be a decent place. I held off on writing this review because when I checked out the desk clerk said the hotel general manager would call me to speak about this. I was waiting for that call before I wrote this review. Obviously another empty promise not fulfilled.. That speaks volumes about the management and how they run things.

As soon as we were able to attempt to resolve the problem, we did so; however, the AC unit checked out without a problem (freon levels were correct). I suspect that the AC just didn't cool to your personal preference; however, upon checkout when we learned that we had STILL not satisfied your temperature preferences, we completely comped one night's stay for your entire room. While it is never our desire to have ANY customer leave our property anything less than satisfied, we clearly took every step possible to rectify any problem and then, not being able to satisfy your needs, we compensated you for an entire night's stay. Moreover, your charge that we did not want to pay exorbitant holiday rates are unfounded as we employ our own maintenance personnel that would not require additional holiday pay. Wires may have gotten crossed with regarding to us contacting you after your departure as there were no notes in your file to do so. Upon further investigation, it had appeared to us that we had satisfied your complaint as the Assistant General Manager had taken care of your room charges for the first night of your stay. We certainly regret that you had any dissatisfaction with your stay with us as you can see by our ratings and reviews that we take customer service very seriously and always do our level-best to respond to unfortunate situations quickly. If we cannot, for any number of reasons, rectify the problem, we completely compensate the guest for their trouble as we did in your case. We think THIS speaks volumes of the way we manage our property and the great majority of our reviews substantiate our position in this area. This is a great location to stay at, but They do need to do a little updating around the pool area in the basement and add heat to the heated pool. Overall I would recommend this hotel. I wouldn't go to the sleep inn (5509 Milan Rd) down the road because the service is horrible and they don't believe in fixing issues.

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Best Western Plus in Sandusky. Walking into the lobby I asked the gentleman checking us in for a "quiet" room he provided us with a top floor room that was super quiet. The pool was a little small but my boys enjoyed it and the temperature was perfect after a long hot day. Breakfast was good, great selection and pleasant people working. A few of of the downfalls: when we walked in for check-in there was a lady behind the counter on the phone speaking very LOUDLY to a customer whose credit card had been denied for an upcoming stay. This is something that should be done in an office, behind closed doors. There were dead bugs in the light cover of our room, but we didn't see any live ones during our stay. My son had lost the cap of his water bottle in the ice machine drain and my husband had to "fish" it out of a bunch of black mold and other "lost items" in the drain. Despite these few downfalls we will be back if we have another occasion to stay in Sandusky, OH.

Overall, this is a nice property. As other travelers have mentioned, carpet cleaning and removing mustiness and odor would be helpful. Breakfast was the typical fare of eggs, sausage, and a pancake maker. Beds and pillow were super; the shower head and pressure was one of the best we have had.

Location: On Hwy 250 before downtown. Some road noise. Lots of hotels and restaurants nearby.l Property: Old property. The driveway in front of the doors was littered with cigarette butts. The awning leaked. The lobby has dark paneling and brown leather chairs; not bright but well appointed. One elevator for four floors is adequate but some waiting. Staff: Desk clerk was efficient but gave the impression she would rather be elsewhere. Room: Well laid out. Reasonably large. Mirror had been "cleaned" with a dirty cloth and was smeared. The mattress was not great and the mattress pad bunched under the sheets. Price: $153 total is fair for what it is supposed to be. Breakfast: Large and well stocked. Not well attended--both coffee thermos were out of coffee. Fitness: The fitness center is in the basement. It is well equipped. No water. Internet: Speed at 8.1 Mbps download and 2.5 Mbps upload is a bit slow.

We usually stay at a Cedar Point hotel but I was able to score a better deal on admission tickets on a promotion day. This hotel was located within minutes and I paid a little over half of what the Breakers Express rate. The room was spotless the bathroom was clean and it had a fair size fridge and a microwave. The bedding was very nice but the curtains could be replaced as there were a few rips om them. Check in was quick and easy. Breakfast is served and they have a decent selection. There were pancakes that come out of a machine when you press a button there were hard boiled eggs and fried eggs sausage patties biscuits and sausage gravy. Pastries bagels and toast. Hot oatmeal cold cereal and yogurt along with fresh fruit. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located within a few minutes of many restaurants and shopping centers we will be returning next year.

Stayed three nights for a Cedar Point family mini vacation. Had two older teenage boys. Received upgrade to room with three beds after asking if they had a larger room available, and free upgrade because I'm a Best Western member. I had just signed up for it when I booked the room over the phone a few weeks earlier. It's free to be a member and you get room discounts. One bed in its own bedroom. Seemed like a full size bed, smaller than we're used to, but we made it work. There was a tv and own A/C unit in bedroom as well. A/C smelled a little musty, but tolerable. Rooms aren't super fancy, but it was clean and worked well for us. Carpets are as you typically expect...a few stains here and there. Had fridge, microwave, and sitting area. Boys said hotel pool Best Western shares with the hotel next door was cold, but the BW indoor pool was warm and they enjoyed the huge hot tub. Plenty of options, hot and cold, for breakfast. Typical hotel breakfast. Staff was excellent.

We planned on spending a few nights in Sandusky to enjoy the water parks, but could not afford the overnight stays at the main indoor water park. We had a larger family and needed something with a few more beds and found out that Best Western offers 4 double beds in one room for an extremely reasonable price! Check in staff was great and explained the property to us and all the amenities. Room was great and clean and huge!! Very nice surprise. This property had a therapy pool that was perfect for us. And warm! We were offered to use the larger indoor pool next door free of charge but the therapy pool was perfect. Breakfast was very good and area was very clean. Parking lot was nice and we felt very safe in the area. Really had not stayed in a Best Western for years, but will definitely look for their properties in the future. Everything in our room looked new and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was modern with safety features. Large tub/shower. We will be back. Also, they honor veteran discounts. Location is perfect by main highway and most of the businesses.

"Not good at all"

No beverages in any of the 5 vending machines - was told to walk across the street to the gas station by staff at 12:30am for a water. Curly black hairs on bed. Hairs in sink. Leaking shower valve - bad water pressure.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. We've had an issue in the past couple of week keeping up with the demand of our soda machines. Most likely, that is why our staff directed you to the nearest location to satisfy what you wanted. However, we DO have bottled water 24/7 as this is a Best Western prescribed standard. I;m also sorry about the other issues you raised; however, this is the first that we're hearing of those issues. I have spoken to our General Manager and she was not aware of any of these issues before reading this review. As there is no way to know who you are or what room you were staying in, it's difficult when guests don't let us know of problems when they're actually on property. While I don't want to add to your frustration, I would welcome you to call the hotel directly and ask for the General Manager. We would like more information on your specific circumstances and would like to see if there's something that we can do to make this right for you.

I have reviewed your issues and this is how I can respond: -We were not aware of any phone issues with your room before you left this review. Our records indicate that you even called from your room phone the morning of your check-out to request a late check-out (which we were happy to honor). -We are incredibly sorry that you experienced expired soda from our soda machine; you were promptly given a refund for this issue as soon as you brought it to our attention. -While the fire alarm did go off the night of your stay (completely out of our control), it was investigated and silenced promptly. Obviously, we would always want to err on the side of caution when any life-safety devices are in question. Again, we're sorry that this experience didn't rival your past experiences. Our quick response to your issues is evidence of our desire to provide nothing less that outstanding and exemplary customer service--which we are known for. Crystal was very kind, efficient, helpful, and friendly. Jacuzzi room was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Breakfast was really good and we'll stocked (gravy, bacon, biscuits, pancakes, pastry, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc). Nice size therapy pool. Close to everything! Many restaurants, mall, gas, and right off the highway.

Traveling from Chicago to Delaware we stopped in Sandusky for dinner and decided we would stay the night and finish our drive the next day. I called the hotel which we had stayed at a couple years ago and booked a 2 room suite. When we arrived the front desk staff were very friendly asked if we had a reservation, then paperwork, gave us our keys and directed us to our room. When we got to our room it was freezing!!!! My kids refused to take off their coats. We turned the heat on in both rooms to 86 and after 20 minutes it was still freezing. While waiting for the room to warm up I turned down the bed and there were hair pins and little curly black hairs on the sheets. I then noticed what looked like vomit all over the door jam and some on the wall going into the second room. There were bottle caps on the floor as well. I called the front desk and let them know. The first thing they said was “Is the window open?” I replied no. I was put on hold then told I could move to another room if we want to which I replied yes. The front desk brought up new keys. I showed the woman my other concerns in the room. She said they are supposed to turn on the heat before we arrive and that she would let her supervisor know about the uncleanliness of the room that someone had just been reprimanded this morning about room cleanliness. We went to our room and all was good, Kids fell asleep then I noticed the 1 inch bug crawling up the wall right next to the microwave. My husband killed it and threw it away. I was very unsettled by this. He fell asleep but not me nope couldn't do it. Got up to use the bathroom and there was another bug crawling up the wall in the bathroom. This time I killed it and took it to the front desk. The woman there was very nice and apologetic and said she was going to refund our entire night stay. We left the hotel at 5am. When I turned in the keys the new woman knew nothing about the refund which I assumed had already been taken care of as I told the night shift receptionist we would be leaving as soon as my husband woke. Needless to say my credit card was charged anyway. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Looks nice from the outside but it's a whole different story inside.

Your review perplexes us as we had pre-blocked your room before your arrival and went ahead and pre-heated the room. Additionally, it's great to hear that you found the front desk agent friendly upon your arrival but you should also know that she's the General Manager of the property and had, herself, pre-heated the room before your arrival. She turned the thermostat to 70 degrees. Of course, with the wildly-cold weather we've been having, it would take some time once you arrived in your room and turned up the heat to get to a temperature that would be comfortable. However, while you called the front desk to report the problem, although they were asked to hold while you conferred with others in your party, she was readily willing and able (and did!) to move you to another room. Additionally, there was no refund to be given--your entire stay was comped. While we explained that the hold on your funds may show up because of the pre-authorization process, it would fall away 24-48 hours after--which it did. There was NO charge to your account as was discussed and agreed to with you. I believe the third shift person was confused because they had been told that there was no charge to your account. When you asked about a refund, that, unfortunately, confused the issue. I'm incredibly sorry that your experience didn't rival the vast majority of our other guests. As you (and others!) can see, we are consistently one of the top-rated hotels in the Sandusky market. We certainly value your business and hope that you'll give us another try in the future.

Arriving for a funeral, we weren't sure how long we would stay. Staff was friendly, kind, and went out of their way to accommodate our complex situation. The room was in excellent condition, the bed and pillows very comfortable. We slept as well as we do at home!

My husband and I were in the area for a funeral. Booking was super easy. Checking in was even easier. Leaving was the hard part. When it was time for us to depart, we hated to say goodbye for we had gotten used to the hotel. The front desk clerks Krystal & Megan were so very nice & helpful. Another desk clerk, Kelsey(I believe her name was) even pointed us in the direction of a good sit down restaurant. Location is what made this hotel so great. Close to highways, turnpike, many food options, shopping & entertainment. Deffinetly would book again with Best Western Plus.

My group of four stayed here for a night during Cedar Point's HalloWeekend. Staff was very accommodating and professional. Room was clean, and enough supplies (towels and the like) were provided for our group. Good breakfast options, classic arcade games, and washer/dryer available downstairs! It's a lovely hotel but we have come to expect that from the Best Western brand. Our only issue was our mini fridge did not work. Very satisfied overall!

Clean place with decent size rooms. Would have rather found a place with two queen beds instead of two doubles but it worked. We had a suite which meant a couch included. Good size refrigerator and a microwave. We got one of their "last minute deals" online which resulted in our Value comments. Therapy pool is strange, a big room temperature hot tub. But you do get pool access next door at the Comfort Inn which has a indoor and outdoor pool. Breakfast area was cramped and when they say breakfast ends at 9:30am on Sunday they mean it as they lock the door with you inside at 9:30am. Don't know if the local fire marshal would like that. For the price it was a good place to stay.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of September for my sons baseball tournament. We booked a two room suite with four beds. On the first night after checking in, we went to our room. The room had two TVs. Neither TV would turn on. After looking behind the dressers, I discovered both TVs were not plugged in. I plugged them both in and was only able to get one of them to work. I called the front desk. She had me look at the cable box to see if it had a green or right light on. I unplugged the box and restarted it. I was still unable to get a signal on the TV. She said maybe she can get someone out on Saturday to fix. No one ever came. Other issues with the room: sink plunger wouldn't stay down, toilet paper holder falling apart, stains on lamp shades, uneven floor, a lot of bugs in ceiling light in bathroom. The breakfast is pretty bad too. We went to McDonald's the second morning instead. When two nights cost close to $500, you expect a working TV. I would chose elsewhere next time.

Overall it was a nice experience, but the cleanliness was lacking, i.e. there were long hairs on a couple of towels, and ice bucket had junk on the bottom of it. And we had to call the front desk to figure out the trick to get hot water for the whirlpool. Breakfast had a lot of good options and they were on top of it. Also they were completely redoing the parking lot but had no signs on where to enter or park, so that was interesting.

So I booked this hotel on the star rating and price. We checked into the hotel late after a long exhausting day at cedar point. The front door staff was friendly and checked us in promptly. We got into our room 404 it looked generally acceptable. The beds were pretty hard. There was a weird dip in the floor that goes along the whole length of the room. There were dead bugs in the light over the bed when we turned the light on. And there was garbage under bed a pop can and candy wrappers. Other than that it was an ok stay.

We were in town for 2 nights. We made a reservation at two different hotels, The other Hotel had a water park and was full of screaming kids and cost over $100 per nigh more than this hotel. This hotel also had breakfast included. The other Hotel Down the street charged $15 for the breakfast on top of a Room rate near $250 per night. This hotel Great Value for the money

Our room was OK and the cleanliness of the room was not great. There were spider webs in the corner, the window and window seal were black with dirt. The carpet was dirty with food crumbs. I did not enjoy my stay in this hotel. I'll be going back to Marriott. Had a problem with the room rate quoted by the front desk staff...quoted one rate and charged a different rate on our bill. Chose to have the final bill emailed and was not aware of the rate difference until later. I spoke to the front desk clerk and was not satisfied with the her explanation or the resolution.

I'd advise to go anyways else. Dirty, hairs in batbroom, on bed... requested new bedding . .. never got. Staff was would. There was an awful smell and all of us could not stop sneezing! Staff was so rude. I don't know where the other reviews came from, but awful experience!

Was there for 5 days for a baseball tournament and this hotel was picked for our team. Hotel is right in the middle when it comes to its services and amenities as well as the room and physical appearance. People were all nice. Lobby had no AC. Felt bad for the front desk employees. They did have a breakfast daily, but the options and quality were not that great at all. Also very small seating area. They do have a pool but it is very small; an exercise pool at best. You can go across the parking lot to the adjacent hotel and use their indoor/outdoor pool. Only one elevator, so during busy check in/out periods, expect to wait. The hotel is close enough to Cedar Point and was also close to the baseball complex, so that was nice. If you are used to staying at Marriott or Hilton properties, expect less. If you are hitting up Cedar Point and need a crash pad, the rooms have nice beds and it should be just fine for you.

I had a block of rooms reserved for family coming in from all over to celebrate my grandmother's 90 th birthday. Several or more of my family decided to book at different locations re price was better. need i say you get what you pay for. Several family members ended up booking or attempting to book at Best Western and they were booked. Megan and Crystal were so accommodating . The gentle man whom checked us in ,I apologize I can't remember his name, was very friendly and efficient. Our only regret is the indoor pool was under construction which would have been nice to know prior to check in.

The rooms were comfortable, clean and had a nice decor. The staff were friendly and attentive. The location is also convenient; on rte 250 near state rte 2. Very close to restaurants, Walmart, Target, Kroger and a host of banks. It takes about 10 minutes to drive to Cedar Point. A great place to stay.

This hotel was really attractive and clean. I liked the way the rooms were laid out and there was more space than usual in my room. The breakfast was warm and really nice. Was not crazy about the coffee in flasks rather than from a live container but otherwise fine. The hotel itself was a little noisy but we are at the top of tourist season so that is not their fault. Overall, I would stay again.

I was staying at the BW+ after a weekend at Cedar Point with my girlfriend. The building was poorly lit inside to the point of not being able to properly see room numbers. In the room, it was even worse. It looked like the room was 60 years old and had never been updated. The couch looked like it had come from a thrift shop and the bed was nothing more then a mattress on a platform. The sheets on the bed were stained in multiple places. The lights turned on after a few seconds of nothing, followed by flickering, until they finally stayed on with a buzzing noise. The TV took around 1 second to bring up the channel every time you changed it. The shower drain was clogged and within 5 minutes of showering, there was standing water at my ankles. Throughout the night, there was noise from the hallway and the TV could be heard from the room directly next to us through the wall. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. I have traveled a lot and been all over the country. This was one of the lowest quality places I have ever stayed at. I've stayed at a nicer Motel 6 for much less money. I don't see what the "plus" is supposed to mean because this hotel was worse than every best western I've ever stayed at.

The staff was very nice and helpful. My room was old and needed some detailing. Carpet had a crusty feel. Something was on the walls and doors. For a 3 bed suite, only 1 bath. Price should be reduced.

The night staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when we checked in very late. The room was clean, and we had no issues with the beds. The breakfast was standard for Best Western and very nice for a free breakfast. The hotel offered free wifi which worked well. We did have a very noisy refrigerator in our room which disrupted our sleep a little.

Not the best room, the bathroom had mold in shower floors and side walls, there was a dead bug behind the door from check in still there at check out. From desk was extremely helpful. Food at breakfast was mediocre at best same choices for 5 days never changed. No variety from day to day. Not sure we'd go back there again.

Our stay at the Best Western was great. Right off 80/90 toll road. Friendly service, nice breakfast, great room with wonderful beds and plenty of room to accommodate our family. loved the extra room we had with the sofa and desk since the younger boys stay up later than these grandparents! It was only a short drive to Cedar Point!

The towels were rough and not very comfortable. The breakfast was below average. The sausage was burnt and something was wrong with the pancake machine. The lobby area lacked air conditioning and smelled funny. They had a perfume or something that was overpowering. The detailed cleanliness was lacking. Elevator was dirty. Furniture our room had damage including closet door that look kicked in by somebody. We picked this hotel to save a few dollars versus cedar point owned hotels. Put up the extra bucks and go for those places. We'll be back to the area but not to this hotel.

240 for one night was too much for this room. It was obvious that the bathroom floor was not cleaned after last guest. Stains on comforter made it uninviting to sit on bed. It was close to Cedar Point which is a plus, but not at the price we paid.

Overall good. Glad I got it for a decent price. Close to cedar point park. No pool!! If you don't care about that then your good. Breakfast was ok to bland. When thinking back to this hotel I couldn't think of anything. So was an ok experience.

Helpful staff they went out of their way to accommodate. Very Clean Nice Size rooms Overall value was great. Only negative was the parking, there just simply wasnt enough spots for the hotel. Offered early check in which was great since being at the parks so late in the eveningwith kiddos would have made a late night check in difficult. Also allowing a late check out was great w kiddos Breakfast was good.

Staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was a bonus, they kept it refilled. Pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, cereal, yogurt, and more. Nice therapy pool - "big hot tub" as kids called it. Convenient location. 14 minutes from Cedar Point, Kalihari just down the street, and minutes from Sandusky Mall, bank, and restaurants.

We were very happy with the rooms and location of the hotel. The only bad thing was the remote to the TV did not work in one of the rooms, but overall, it was a very nice hotel. I had an amazing stay and most definitely will be staying again when I'm in the area. At check in Krystal gave us everything we needed when it came to the hotel and what it offered. The check process was quick and professional. Our room was on the 4th Floor and had a very nice view from so high up above the dome changing lights. The room was VERY clean and made up wonderfully by the housekeeping staff with every in room amenities your need for your stay. Breakfast had an amazing selection of hot and cold options definitely not standard at some hotels so I was more than pleased. Bobbie was there for the evening very helpful and kind. Megan worked the late night shift and she was also very professional and went out of her way to greet each guest warmly even tho it was quite late. Overall easily one of the BEST hotels in the area.

I've been visiting the area for the past 4 years, and this was the best hotel I have found yet in the Sandusky area. The suite was spacious, clean, and up-to-date. Breakfast was nice. There is an outdoor and indoor pool at the hotel next door available for use. I look forward to staying here again next year.

The bed is loose and noisy, the hallway is loud and you can hear other talking in their room. The wall is thin feel like no privacy and the elevator need to be fix it feels unsafe the coke machine needs to stock up.

Clean rooms and hotel. Dog in lobby was a treat for the kids. Friendly lobby staff. Didn't like that pool was next door and you had to walk across a parking lot to get there. Also, breakfast was average with a small selection. Couldn't get change from front desk for laundry so had to drive to a bank down the street. This would account for the average service rating. Front desk apologetic but still put a bad taste in my mouth. Would recommend for proximity to park and plenty to do around area and lots of places to eat.

Nothing at all to complain about. The reception staff was gracious and friendly. Complimentary coffee, tea and hot cocoa was available near the front desk. The room was very large and could definitely fit a family. It had two double beds, a sofa and an office area. The room also had a microwave and refrigerator. Other items included iron, ironing board, safe, hair dryer, coffee pot (with tea and coffee) and the television. The room was well lit and had more than enough outlets to handle a family's phones, etc. It was also possible to regulate the room temperature. It was clean, quiet and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was a good size and was fully stocked with multiple sets of bath, hand towels and wash/face cloths. It also had multiple bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bars of soap. Great water pressure. The breakfast was quite impressive for a free one. The day I was there they offered: eggs (boiled and scrambled), sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy, a pancake machine, oatmeal with a variety of toppings, yogurt, three types of cereal, warm cinnamon rolls, warm apple fritters, sweet rolls, breads, bagels, milk, coffee, tea, juice and fresh fruit.

Solid 4 out of 5 stars. Suitable, nothing fancy. The room was clean, and all advertised amenities were present and functional. The property was quiet. Excellent night of sleep, with no disturbances. The bathroom was in good condition. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, the hot water was plentiful (at ~6am), and the drain functioned well. The towels were small, but adequate. Breakfast was sufficient, but a bit disappointing. Selections was good: Pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fried eggs, oatmeal, various breads and pastries, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, the usual beverages. The quality, however, was low, and they did not keep the food freshly stocked. The tray with the hard-boiled eggs had an unidentified clear liquid in the bottom (I still ate two, with no adverse consequences). There was very little fresh fruit, and what they had was heated by the sausage heat lamp, to which it was adjacent. Quantity was plentiful, and they did not appear in danger of running out of anything. Overall, I would recommend, especially for a non-family trip. I will probably stay here again if I ever return to Sandusky.

My family and I stayed here for a few days while I was at a local convention. The hotel is very clean, and the room was spacious. The refrigerator and microwave was a nice addition to the room. The breakfast bar had a decent offering, and, like the rest of the hotel, it was very clean as well. Check in and check out was very easy. Great staff. The hotel is in an ideal location--close to local attractions. We will definitely keep this hotel in mind should we ever find ourselves in the area again.

Place was better than I expected from a Best Western. The staff was very helpful and friendly while checking in. The room was modern and clean. My husband and I had the jacuzzi room and it was nicer than ones we had been to in the past. The location was great directly off the highway and close to shopping and resturaunts. Would def. This hotel has exceeded all of our expectations we had while we were here for work. We were taken back on how welcoming everyone was. We were treated like gold by staff, the rooms were very clean, and breakfast was exactly what we needed to start our day. Behind the desk we met Bobbie, she was so professional and pleasant to be around. It really made us feel welcome and took care of us during our stay here. 5 stars to Bobbie. This hotel has it all! All rooms contain a microwave, refrigerator, couch and coffee table. There is a therapy pool and gym for guest use. If you prefer you can use the regular pool at the hotel next door. The complementary breakfast is one of the best I've seen. I always stay here when I'm in town!

So I drive over 8 hours to get here with a 1 year old and 3 year old, only to find out not only do they not have my reservation (which I have the confirmation email for), but they charged me for a no show since someone at the hotel changed my check in date!! I am then told by corporate that they can't do anything for me! If I want to check in today, (my scheduled date), I would be charged again, since the manager is not in and not answering their phone. Corporate also insists they cannot authorize the hotel to do anything about billing and will not call the manager to see what is going to be done! So now I am in OH, 8+ hours away from my home with 2 kids and unsure of what to do until a manager decides to pick up their phone! Thanks so much best western, if this is any indication of how you treat a loyal guest, I'm not sure I even want to stay there again!

I am sorry for your confusion. After looking at your accounts in-depth, it appears as if you had originally made a reservation for 9/22--for which you did not arrive. However, you were never charged as a no-show for that date. When you realized on 11/10 that you had made a reservation for the wrong date, you (through our 800 number) changed your reservation to 11/10 but were informed at that time that you had never been charged a no-show fee for your previous reservation; therefore, you would need to pay for your room on 11/10. This reservation was made at 1:30pm on 11/10 via the phone with our 800 service. You then subsequntly cancelled your reservation for 11/10 ON 11/10 at 4:30 pm directly with our property--but again, were never charged (even though you cancelled less than 24 hours in advance). Ultimately, there was some confusion on your part but between the hotel property directly as well as our consultation with our 800 service, we can find no evidence that either the 800 service or our property compromised the reservations that you made.

Plus: definitely breakfast with: sausage, eegs, pancakes, cereal, toasts, muffins, yogurts etc. Plenty even 5 min before closing, looks fresh and clean location. Fast check in and out, but with checking out - just simply all set, not even ask about stay - and I wanted complain:). Big, big minus - beds. If you have - like me back problems, simply don't go there. So uncomfortable beds are really to be seen in hotel of that class. Even my wife feels pain after 1st night and we had to spent 2. They just probably dated, with permanently created valleys and noisy as well - so definitely not much to be played when in:). Cleaning service could be better as coffee pot has stain on the bottom, cleaned them myself. Poor wifi. Overall - definitely won't stay there again.

I want to address your comment/question about the shower head not having an extension. Extensions break very easily and do not hold up well to major and frequent use such as our hotel experiences. We've found it better for our guests to invest in a more expensive fixed shower head. But to answer your question about cleaning shower walls; well, that's good old-fashioned elbow grease by our fabulous housekeeping staff. From the moment we walked in the staff was very friendly and answered the questions we had. The suite was very spacious and comfy. Breakfast was very good. There was a lot to choose from. From cereal to sausage and biscuits. The eating area was very clean. All in all a great place to stay. We will stay here again if we come back to the area.

"Amazing Customer Service & Politics"

I got to meet Skyler, the assistant manager of this amazing hotel. He was very nice and anything he went over all the amazing things Sandusky had to offer. He went into detail about the rides at Cedar Point to the best food at the most popular restaurants in town. He had a very up beat attitude, and any question you asked he had a answer. He will make a great hotel manager. I would like to say everything was amazing but one thing. I feel that best western is a great place of business. And that is what it is BUSINESS. When I came in I see a lot of Donald Trump signs. I feel that politics should not be apart with a hotel experience. There was signs everywhere. On the building, on the trailer outside, and I seen that there was a trump station on the lower floor of the hotel. Thanks to Skylers amazing customer service, I was able to over look the horrible outdoor decor and stay at a great hotel. I would hope that the owner will understand that this is business. And your personal look at the world and how it should be ran should be kept to yourself.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting Cedar Point and Put-In Bay. Conveniently located for these two attractions. Very comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast was included. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

At the Best Western Hotel in Sandusky, I checked in late at night,coming in from the Pointfest Concert&even booked during a rainstorm.They were very helpful!The rooms were really nice&clean!The nicest room I think I've ever stayed in for a hotel.The bed was soo comfortable,and I appreciated the couch.The breakfast was pretty good too.The first time ever that I made a breakfast sandwich in a hotel.I wud likely go back&definately recommend it!

We booked this as we had planned a visit to Cedar Point. We were doing other travelling too and this hotel was a little more expensive than the others we had booked but it was Labour Day weekend so it was to be expected. I have to say the hotel was great, bed was good and room was clean but it was the staff who made it. They were extremely helpful and pleasant at all times. The free breakfast is amazing and has a great selection - everything you need for a quick breakfast. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

I took my teenage son & his friends to CedarPoint and needed a quality room without costing an arm and a leg. I was NOT disappointed with the quality, value and service at this hotel. We arrived soaking wet from getting rained out at CedarPoint. Skylar got us checked into our room quickly. The room was large and clean. There is a pool - but it is quite small. However, we were told we could use the pool at the sister property next door which we decided not to do. We enjoyed a very good hot breakfast the next morning. I would most definitely stay here again. Great service, clean and comfortable room and a fair price!

One of the best hotels I have stayed at in a long time. The price was great but more than the price the staff, room, breakfast and all the other amenities made our stay for the weekend wonderful. There are a great many restaurants in the area to choose from...everything from fast food to great sit down relaxing dinners. The Sandusky Mall is 3 minutes away which I had the opportunity to visit 2 days just for a great shopping pleasure. We enjoyed our stay at the The Best Western Plus Hotel and I will be back again the next time I can get away for another weekend. I am considering putting together a group for the year of 2017 and of course this hotel tops my list for accessibility to everything I think we would need. I look forward to 2017 and hopefully The Best Western Plus will be able to accommodate our group travel....

Stayed here on a trip to Cedar Point Amusement Park; which was 15-mins away. Great hotel with decent rooms; they had a suite with 4 separate twin beds; which suited our needs. Very friendly service. The hotel is ideally situated, being close to major highway and many restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations. Comfort Inn is next door and owned by same company; we had access to their amenities. Breakfast was free and was decent; some hot foods (pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits) in addition to traditional cold fare (cereal, muffins, pastries). Only major complaint: WiFi connection was weak and frequently broken; had lots of trouble reconnecting and maintaining the connection; very frustrating.

Room was dirty. Hair on the linens, hair in the bath tub, towel on the floor, dirty toilet, and a musty smell. The room was clearly not cleaned when we arrived. We received a refund and stayed at Kalahari (I very much recommend Kalahari). Can't say I'd recommend best western plus.

the room was great, the staff was awesome. The breakfast was really good. I took the grandkids to Cedar Point. Lots of restaraunts close by. lots of parking. We didn't have any bath towels and I went to the front desk and got as many as I needed. I would stay again.

Nicely appointed and clean room. Check in was chaotic - there was only one person at the desk and she was overwhelmed with several parties wanting to check in, phone ringing and a computer repair guy asking her questions. Because of the chaos we were given keys to an already occupied room - imagine our and the occupants surprise when we opened the door! We checked back at the desk and got the correct key cards and room. The room was really nice and clean with comfortable bed and pillows. It was quiet as well as it was on the back of the hotel not parallel to the busy road. Breakfast was adequate - fresh but usual fare to start the day.

The indoor therapy pool was small and stunk bad but I didn't come for the pool just to sleep the room was really nice besides the bed being hard as a rock I was happy with my stay here! They had a nice like living room set up in my king size suite and the bathroom is spacious

We were traveling back from Chicago & decided to visit Cedar Point for a day. After a terrible hotel stay in Chicago -- supposedly at a 4 star hotel -- the Best Western was such a refreshing change. The staff was wonderful -- extremely friendly & helpful, from the person that checked us in -- to the staff working outside refinishing a railing. The room was very comfortable -- even the lobby was very comfortable & inviting. My wife did some laundry from our trip. When she found that the soap dispenser was empty, the staff even gave her some laundry soap!

Beautiful hotel that appears to be newly renovated. Helpful front desk staff. Large and quiet room. Paid for a 2 bed and ended up with a 3 bed, 3rd of which had its own room within the suite! Definitely will consider for future visits to the area.

We stayed at Best Western Plus on a trip to Cedar Point. The rooms were clean and staff was very friendly. We would stay here again. The price was competitive with other hotels in this class and it was easy to find after a long drive. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices-- pancake machine, biscuits and gravy, eggs, cinnamon buns, as well as all of the typical cold cereal and yogurt choices.

I did a ton, and I mean a TON, of research on a hotel to stay at after visiting Cedar Point. Most of the hotels very close to the park charge an arm and a leg because of their location, and some of them still have decidedly mixed reviews. This Best Western was very well reviewed, competitively priced, and only a 20 minute drive from the Park. I was so happy with my choice. I didn't realize the hotel was all suites. Not that we needed that much room, but it was nice to have the couch. Everything was very clean, and in good working order. My only noted "concerns" would be: 1) The desk chair sticks out in the aisle, and you are apt to kick it during the night if you get up to use the bathroom 2) No swimming pool onsite, you have to go next door to use the pool at the Comfort Inn. 3) The flat screen TV's are not very big.

Attractive exterior and public areas. Room was quite comfortable. Had some issues with room cleanliness, but they were not a big deal and taken care of quickly. Comfortable beds, simple yet pretty decor. Skyler at the Front Desk upgraded our room, without my asking, to make up for a rate discrepancy with Best Western's Res Center. Above and beyond. Overall, a very good experience.

I always write an honest review so here goes. Checked in for a visit to Cedar Point. We chose this hotel based on other reviews rating it quite highly. Now, the hotel itself isn't bad. The room was fairly nice and spacious and suited our needs. Breakfast was appalling. Paper plates - negative, pancake machine that made pancakes the size of a McDonalds cup lid, sausages that looked disgusting - like super sized twiglets, the orange juice from the machine was worse than Capri Sun, cereal options were poor, the people refilling the stations looked like caretakers not chefs. Pool size - tiny. Basically - this is a base for the park and no more. I read reviews on Breakers Express and chose this over the Breakers, but I think that it would have been on Par. If you want a decent room, and nice people on reception - Skylar - very helpful, then choose this hotel. If you want more facilities - look elsewhere.

Our family was there last week(8/8-8/12/2016) and had terrible experience. Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! We asked for cot for our son since they didn't have pull up bed. They said NO! They said "sleep on the sofa" but the sofa which looked great on the picture was so small,, it wasn't sofa it was loveseat.. and so uncomfortable. We asked for extra blanket so that our son can sleep on the floor. they said they can give us only bedsheet. only thin bedsheet. they said they can't give us the thick blanket because they don't have extra. I couldn't believe it. they don't have one extra thick blanket??? But it got worser, I left my favorite dress and shirts in the closet. I realized when we got home and I tried to call. The phone was busy for a couple of days, so I had to try to call a million times. When I finally got to talk to the front desk, she said there's nothing in the lost and found. I asked if housekeeper sees it would she bring it down. Front desk person said it depends. I asked do you have that policy. She said she doesn't know. I left my phone number and asked the manager to call but no return call. The worst customer service ever!!!!

My wife and I recommend this hotel, especially if you are going to Cedar Point with a family! Rooms have plenty of space, everything was clean and felt safe, beds were comfortable, breakfast was great, price was perfect, staff were absolutely AMAZING their hospitality was fantastic. Only complaint was the therapy pool it was disgusting which was a little upsetting. Other than that everything was perfect and I would stay here again!

Rooms and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is delicious and convenient. Indoor and outdoor pools are located next door, but it is an easy walk and they are well maintained. Warm water therapy pool in the basement is awesome - it's like a hot tub but a lot bigger (think small pool as opposed to typical hot tub).

Room was advertised as a 2 bedroom suite. I read this to mean two bedrooms with a common area. Instead it was two single rooms attached - but only one bath. It would have been cheaper, and we would have been better off if we reserved two separate rooms next to each otehr.

Me and my husband stayed for our anniversary and as soon as we walked I it was super hot I guess no ac was working the pool and workout room was I. The basement and it was even hotter down there felt unsafe in the basement and the pool was like a bog hit tub and only 3 ft deep lame! The breakfast was the worst I have ever had at a hotel . the only good thing about this hotel was the rooms were big and you can all the amenities at the comfort inn next door

Finally put together a trip to Ohio with my daughters, son-in-law and grandkids to visit Cedar Point Amusement Park. We had never stayed in a Best Western Plus before this stay. We couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. From the day we arrived and met Skyler at the front desk to the day we left we had nothing but a great time. The breakfast buffet is wonderful at this hotel. Lois runs that breakfast room like a "well oiled machine". She is truly amazing and so pleasant to be around. The food was delicious and the choices for a buffet we thought were amazing. My favorite was the fresh sausage gravy and biscuits, yummy!!! There were so many choices (nobody can say there wasn't something for them on the buffet) The food was fresh and hot at all times thanks to Lois. We truly had 4 great days of breakfast meals. All the employees are wonderful. We found this hotel to be super clean and always smelled so fresh. The staff is super friendly and so accommodating. They helped us with Cedar Point ideas and beach suggestions. They even recommended a few local family style restaurants. We loved our 2 days of fun at Cedar Point . Our full day at the beach at East Harbor State Park and our evening at Nickle Plate Beach in Huron (all suggestions from the front desk) were so much fun. This hotel is great and fairly priced. The drive to Cedar Point and beaches were so easy. We will definately stay again at Best Western Plus when we are in the area.

Chose this hotel after having a not so great experience at another hotel in the past in this area. This place was amazing. The staff was great. Breakfast was stocked and had tons of variety. I stayed in the hotel 2 nights. The hotel could use a little live in some places. The room was ok. The floor in the room was wavy.. meaning it had a speed bump or two in it. Having just had foot surgery.. it was an unwelcome surprise. The bar and grill I was told they have is actually next door. The ladies I spoke to at the front desk were very pleasant.

The property overall is beautiful. I had a whirlpool suite room. The breakfast needs work. There was no apple juice due to the machine being cut off early. Coffee was not made and needed to already be done. The eggs and sausage were not good, not a good variety of breads, yogurt and fruit. The hotel itself was wonderful. The staff is very nice and made sure my family and I had what we needed to be comfortable. The room was very clean and nice.

Thank goodness for this place! We had reservations at a Best Western down the road, but somehow the 800# for BW had messed it up. We headed down the road to this place. "You Can Stay Here But Just Know This..."

Immediate musty smell as you enter the hotel. Large fan blowing in the conference room - wasn't sure if because of the smell or the hot weather. Wifi was spotty at best. I consistently had to walk to the hallway outside my room to access it; then it would still drop. TV cable wasn't hooked up - got it fixed right away, but there was no phone in the room (apparently people steal them), some of the lamps did not work and clock was unplugged. Some issues with new service and the housekeeping crew. The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was fine.

It's certainly not the Ritz but the BW Plus is worth the stay. We have two little kids and the place is clean and everything is always fresh and neat. The breakfast offered (again, not the Ritz but I didn't expect that) was good and had some variety every morning. Right on the main strip, close to restaurants, Cedar Point and the other area attractions.

Room was very clean, plenty of towels. Overall everything was great. Would go back. Service was good. I would say the only complaint is it was a non smoking room and as soon as we opened the door, it smelled like cigarette smoke. Which is frustrating when you don't smoke....people can be very, very disrespectful. If people need to smoke, go outside!

We just came back from a road trip and this was the worst hotel we stayed at among the rest. We stayed at some Best Western's last year and they were so much nicer than this one. When I made the reservations with the hotel, I called and spoke to someone at the front desk. I asked if they would be able to store our luggage securely if we arrived early and our room was not ready. I was told by a male that would be no problem. So I booked a day trip on a boat. However when I arrived at the hotel in the morning I was told our room would not be available until check in time and they could not store our luggage as they had no place to put it. I pushed back and explained I was told I could when I called ahead of time. The front desk clerk reluctantly agreed that I could put it on a cart and wheel it into their conference room. I did ask her to please put a bag behind the desk with her as it had electronics in it and she did. Thankfully when we arrived later that evening all of our items were still there. I noticed no air conditioning in the lobby common areas, but thankfully the rooms AC worked. Room was spacious, but far from clean: mold in the shower, hair and dental floss from previous guest on floor in bathroom, stains on toilet. I pointed this out the next morning and I was pleasantly surprised that they did deduct off of my bill for housekeeping issues. They had a pad that they were writing down the housekeeping complaints on so I assume that they're aware of some issues their having and hopefully trying to correct it. Breakfast was good, but they do have issues trying to keep food stocked. I think the breakfast area is really too small for the hotel size. I imagine everyone comes at the same time due to park opening times so they really need to think about knocking down the room divider to make more space for seating. The laundry facilities cost twice as much as Courtyard Marriott's I stayed at and I had to run the dryer 3 times to get the load dry. The dryers definitely need to be replaced. If you're going to Cedar Point, this hotel is about a 10-15 min drive away.There's others that are closer, in fact here is a brand new Holiday Inn Express up the road that I wished I had stayed at. I would not stay here again, in fact I think I am going to pull Best Western off my list when looking at future hotels and stick with Hampton, Fairfield, Holiday Inns or Courtyards.

There was a slight problem with our reservation, but he took care of it promptly and apologized for the 3 minute delay. My family stayed here for a trip to Cedar Point in Ohio to go to the amusement park and for some fishing. We stayed 3 nights. Prior hotels have always given my family a fresh supply of toiletries each day that they come in and service the room. This hotel did not. Shampoo/Conditioner ran out the first day. We made it through two days with the toilet paper, but then had to nab one off of the maid's cart or we would have been in trouble. Why wouldn't they give you these things every day they come in? If this is their policy, it's dumb because you need this stuff every day. Still, over all I was satisfied with our stay. It's a nice, clean hotel and the staff was courteous and helpful when needed. They even made a mistake in our room booking, and upgraded us for free. So in spite of this, I still am pleased with our stay overall and would recommend this Best Western.

We stayed one night on our trip back from Toledo. It was wonderful! We stayed on the third floor at the back and the room was quiet and clean. The front desk were very helpful, letting us know about the pool next door as well as the therapy pool within the building. The breakfast was delicious and had a lot of options. Close to shopping and close to Cedar Point as well.

I booked a room at the Best Western Plus in Sandusky, OH when my boyfriend and I decided we needed a last minute day-away. Check in was efficient, Jamie was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the temperature was comfortable, which was fantastic because it felt like it was about a thousand degrees outside. Nothing is worse than when you get to a hotel in the summer and have to wait for the room to cool off. The spa bath was clean and functioned well, we only had a small issue with the jets coming on automatically a little bit too soon, so we had to clean up some water. After that, we had absolutely no issues. Breakfast was good- there was a decent selection and the dining room was clean and well maintained. Check out was also very efficient- I didn't catch the name of the lady who was working behind the desk when we checked out, but she was also very friendly, and said that she would have someone check out the jets/bath when I told her about them coming on too soon. I will definitely consider staying at this location again in the future.

Spent 3 nights here while visiting Cedar Point with hubby and daughter. Were totally shocked when we walked into our room in the corner on the top floor, it was huge!! Two queen beds, with a large sitting area with sofa, coffee table, desk, microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom was spacious also. Plenty of room for the 3 of us to unwind and relax after driving and spending a day at the park. Room and bathroom were very clean. For some reason, our room wasn't clean on the second day when we returned at about 5:30pm, but housekeeping came by to do it and we just asked for clean towels, no big deal. We went to the pool at the hotel next door 2 nights. It was about 5 feet deep and had a bar where you could get drinks and food. A pleasant way to relax, not a bad walk, towels provided there. Breakfast was great with many choices, pastries, a pancake machine, biscuits and gravy, muffins, eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal and fruit. Signs letting you know how to mix it up, like make a breakfast sandwich with english muffin, sausage patty and egg. Lots of easy parking, easy to get to, and lots of stuff around. A mall down the street, Target, fast food, restaurants and Starbucks. Would definitely stay again when we visit Cedar Point, easy drive.

The staff was very accommodating to our needs when we were in town for a dance competition earlier this month. We were able to upgrade to a larger, more spacious room for our stay. Carly and the staff were great...breakfast was good...

This Place was Beyond Amazing!! Staff were Friendly & The property was really clean! Nice Full Breakfast & Hotub in the Basement!! And they share an outdoor pool with the comfort suites nextdoor! Room not ready at 4:15 PM and toilet was clogged when we did get in. Called front desk at 4:30 to tell them and they sent a plunger for us to do the work. We come home around 9:30 PM and the toilet is still clogged but we did now have a plunger.

"Large Nice Room"

They put us in a jacuzzi suite on the 3rd floor. Very large room with the jacuzzi near the door. Unfortunately, the hot water was broken on the tub and we couldn't use it. As we were there one big deal. Lots of high school/college guys staying there, but no problems, noise or otherwise. Good location, and could use both pools at Comfort Inn next door, as they have the same owner.

Nice, clean and convenient for a trip to Cedar Point. We stayed two nights and and the hotel was clean and quiet, plus they have a nice free breakfast buffet, the lady who tends to the breakfast area in the morning is really great, keeps the place super clean and explains how the automatic pancake machine works, she was really a super employee. In fact every employee we encountered here was really great. Also you can use the outside pool at the Comfort Inn next door as well as their big indoor pool and hot tub since both hotels are owned by the same person. A really nice stay. PS, for dinner check out the very authentic Vietnamese restaurant down the main street.

Awesome location from Cedar Point. Stayed here with a group of 20 students. Skylar and Guy were well prepared for our group upon arrival. Accommodations were top notch for hotel category. Even had a sofa which gave additional levels of comfort. Free breakfast and accessible meeting room space for quick meetings with student groups. Highly recommended for family travel to avoid over priced sub par accommodations at Amusement park resorts.

We chose this hotel as the most convenient of the suggested hotels. Our room was very nice, but we did have a problem with the toilet. The hotel tried 4 times to fix it, but we had to plunge the toilet ourselves most of the time. However, as we checked out we mentioned that the problem was not yet fixed so that it could be before the next guest. Without asking, the clerk credited our bill for the more expensive night. We were vey satisfied.

I stayed here with my family during a trip to Cedar Point. The staff was excellent. All were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The room was clean, though housekeeping did leave behind some cleaning clothes in the bathroom prior to our arrival. The beds were fine. Could be a little softer. The hotel at the time of our stay did not offer a regular pool on site. The guest are advised to use one of the two pools (one indoor, one outdoor) at the sister hotel next door. This is a long walk across parking lots. None of us used the pools at the sister hotel. This hotel does offer a "therapy pool". This would be a large hot tub. This is located in the basement, which is odd. The therapy pool during our stay was not properly heating the water and many of the jets were non-functional. The breakfast offers hot and cold options on par with most hotels. This consist of a pancake maker, not waffles. As well as eggs, biscuits, sausage links/patties, cereal, breads and pastries. On that note, the apple fritters are excellent. Coffee is decent, nothing to get excited over. The few things that seemed off about this hotel were not deal breakers for me. The service of the staff and value of the accommodations for my dollar would leave me recommending this hotel to others.

Extremely nice staff and I applaud Crystal for helping us out on an odd request. In town for a wedding and we found out by surprise they have new tall by our standards mattresses and beds for an elderly 88 yr old it was too much for her to leap into bed. Crystal at desk came to the rescue and had someone buy a stool to put in room for her to help get into bed that night. Super clean room and quiet. Nice big tv--all I look for in a room. Free breakfast...not a lot but quick pastry and cereal and sauage and warm up yourself pancakes. Coffee fridge and micro in room.

The exterior of the hotel looks a bit run down but the room was very clean and spacious. We had four ladies in a 2 bed room and we didn't feel cramped, we were comfortable. The food at the continental breakfast had a good variety, they had decent quality for free breakfast.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Great price, very friendly staff. Carly at the front desk gave us directions to different attractions making it easy to navigate Sandusky. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Pillows weren't the best but my family and I were still able to sleep well. Overall, I'd recommend this for those looking for an affordable, clean, and comfortable place to stay while visiting Cedar Point or the Sandusky area.

The hotel is centrally located on the main strip in Sandusky Ohio. The rate is very reasonable and offers discounts for Best Western Reward members, as well as members of AARP, and AAA. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The air conditioner works very well, the bed is comfortable, and the TV has a lot of channels. The continental breakfast offers a wide selection of fresh and delicious items.

The Hotel is very clean, the staff is friendly, unfortunately had to wait 10 minutes to check out; there was only one person manning the front desk and she got on the elevator as I got off. Their hot breakfast left something to be desired, however there was a lot of variety so I was able to grab a banana, yogurt and bagel.

My husband was in Sandusky for the motorcycle week, and called to tell me he was staying at the Best Western Plus. Not knowing the area, he wasn't sure what he would find. What he found is an amazing place to stay! He called me when he arrived in his room and told me how beautiful the room was--large, spotless and very comfortable. He then called me early the next morning telling me about the breakfast. He said he asked where the continental breakfast was, only to find out it was a buffet--and the food was very fresh, a wonderful selection and a very attentive young man overseeing it. I have to say, they sure set the bar high for his return home! ;) Highly recommended!

My wife and I visit Sandusky twice a year on business. We've stayed at many of the hotels in the area but this was our first stay at the Best Western. What a nice surprise. The front desk staff was friendly, the Hotel was clean and quiet. We had an oversize room with everything we needed. A mini fridge and microwave, flat screen TV. The room was very clean and the bed was ultra comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel. I know where we're staying on our next trip.

I am really not sure what I can say about this hotel other than I will be back.. Went down to cedar point for our first time, reading some reviews I decided to go with this hotel, we checked in very late and the process was smooth and friendly. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Woke up early to hit the park, had breakfast and unfortunately the kids were unable to eat as they have allergies. The staff went out of their way asking questions what the kids can eat and the next day there was items the kids could eat... I love the they way they took care of us and I highly recommend this place...

We stayed here a couple nights while we were visiting Sandusky to go to Cedar Point. The hotel and our room were very nice and clean. But, the best part of the hotel, by far, was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind. But, there was one gentleman in particular, who really stood out as an exemplary employee, his name is Guy! Guy works in the dining room and was absolutely outstanding at keeping the breakfast area fully stocked and clean while tons of ravenous people flowed through. He did all of this with a wonderful smile and extremely sweet demeanor, what a gem!!! ?? We had a wonderful stay at this Best Western and very highly recommend!

Hotels in Sandusky are hit or miss. This was a hit. Without a doubt, one of the best hotels in Sandusky. Super clean, comfortable bed and great overall stay. We were there for the opening day of Cedar Point. Usually, I'm just looking for a place to lay my head down and get rest for opening day. This was way beyond the basics. We had a king size bed in a "suite". The room was super clean and the bed was super comfy. About the only issue I had overall was that the a/c unit blew straight in to the curtains. I wouldn't mind seeing a diverter to redirect the air so that the room gets it and not the window. The front desk staff was super friendly. We didn't check in until close to 11pm and we wanted to order a pizza. Not only did they recommend a few places, but looked up the closing times and even gave me a menu. That in my eyes represents good service which doesn't always happen. This was a great room at a great price with great staff. I will stay here again when I'm in the area.

Nice place overall. Just did not like the older employee standing around the brekfast room watching you like you were going to steal all of the food. Rooms were nice also. Not enough parking spaces. All resturants and shopping is within three miles. We come to the same hotel on our anniversary the last seven or eight years before it became Best western.

I travel every week for work; the staff is helpful and friendly, the breakfast is good, the gym needs some assistance with loose and jiggling equipment. I appreciate that there is a gym but the equipment is falling apart. The hotel is close right on the main drag.

I stayed with my husband and 2 year old, and was happy they offered 2 BR suites so my son could go to bed early and my husband and I could still stay up. It was clean with a nice appearance. Unfortunately, the pool/spa was extremely cold and unpleasant. I also requested express check-out with emailing of the final folio, but I never received this. The bed was a little too hard for my liking.

I stayed here one night. I got a suite. it is a standard room wit ha small dividing wall. So nothing special. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was not exactly the good, I understand it is free. However it was less than other chains that offer a free breakfast. Over all i would say for the price it is not a bad call.

We stayed at this motel during spring break 2016. This motel has recently been renovated. Service was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. Room was quiet. Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of foods including hot items. Price was a bit high but it was spring break.

"Seriously impressed by this Best Western"

I normally don't take the time to write reviews unless it's to warn other potential customers, but I have to give MAJOR props to this Best Western. They have done everything SO right! My husband and I were walk-ins late (late) last night, needing a place to crash on our way to the eastern seaboard. We were greeted by Sherry at the front desk, who was an absolute sweetheart. She got us checked in quickly, briefly told us about the game room and breakfast the next morning (both of which are directly relevant to my interests), and gave us some snacks and bottles of water in case we needed some munchies before bed. She also volunteered late check-out for us the next morning so we wouldn't be bothered. It may seem like a small thing, but great customer service and a friendly smile to a long way when it's 2am and you're tired enough to want to face-plant yourself on the sofa in the lobby for the next five hours. Sherry did everything right. To reiterate - we didn't have to plead for late check out like we would at any other hotel - Sherry just did it on her own because she said she would want the same if she were in our same tired position. (Sherry - I know you said you were a new employee and wanted to make sure to treat your customers right. If you're reading this, please know that you were fantastic and that your boss should give you a raise for being so awesomely considerate to us poor late-night arrivals!!) The lobby and decor of the hotel is so nice too. You won't have the nightmare of a photo-to-reality mismatch walking in here. Everything is well laid out, super clean, and looking new. You'd expect this kind of decor at a way more expensive hotel than this; but this place proves that good clean taste and comfort don't have to make your wallet cry. Also: the pillows. Thank God we found a hotel that got the pillows right. I hate the type of hotel pillow that's "as soft as a cloud" and then disintegrates into a total lack of neck support the second your head touches it. Granted, I don't like rock-like pillows either. But these pillows were PERFECT - soft enough to snuggle a bit, but firm enough to wake up sans neck ache the next morning. Same for the bed. The comfort plus the overall blissful quietness of the place let me actually sleep and feel refreshed the next morning. I've been on the road pretty solidly for the past month, and I gotta say this is the best sleep I've had in the road in a long time. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. I've stayed at Best Westerns before and had good experiences, but all the little things went so right here that I would now consider myself a loyal customer. Five stars!!

We were sent to a room that was not ready upon arrival, but were quickly given another room with an extra bed. The internet was good. The bed was very hard for me and the pillows very uncomfortable. I awoke feeling sore all over and my neck ached for days after. Breakfast the next morning was meh at best. Some hot choices available, but beware the dairy products the light yogurt most of it expired like a month ago. We were only there for 1 night.

Did not realize we were coming into such a popular destination. We thought we would find a wilderness area on the lake instead of an amusement park. The room was better than anything I ever got at the Sheraton or any of the other high and hotels. I always thought Best Western was a low in hotel, now I know that they're up there with the high-end hotels. Thanks Best Western for a great weekend.

"Very Nice Hotel"

We stayed here last August (2015) after a wedding on Put -in-Bay. It's one of the nicer Best Westerns we've stayed at. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a nice sized bathroom with all the amenities you expect in a hotel. Enjoyed the breakfast the next morning before our drive home.

Quick overnight stay on the way back from a wedding in NY. The gentleman at the desk was very nice and funny which was appreciated after a day of driving. Hotel and room were very clean and bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

The only amenity we seek on our nights out are Jacuzzi rooms. The 2 Fairfield inns we usually frequented did away with them, so it was time to find a new hotel. Was pleasantly surprised at the jacuzzi suite at Best Western in Sandusky, Ohio ! Definite value for money spent!

Accommodating staff; we called and said we'd be there at 2 am and they said no problem; always nice to hear a welcoming voice on the phone. Rooms very clean, lots of space. Hotel and rooms well-appointed. Spotless bathrooms.Breakfast is standard continental breakfast with some hot items and pancake maker. Chobani yogurts and warm apple fritters, nice touch. (Wish they had a waffle iron like some other BW+. ) full fitness center but didn't have time to use, unfortunately. Quiet neighborhood. Tattoo place next door made it interesting ( didn't go in ??)

Hotel staff came through as several of us attended a funeral. The staff was courteous and extremity helpful. They were able to accommodate our request for rooms near each other, assisted us whenever we needed help and generally made our stay as as well as could be expected in view of the circumstances.

I chose this hotel due to great reviews (rated #1 in area...) and by their breakfast - which was great. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, omelets etc... very nice. The hotel is conveniently located, in a nice area that is minutes away from Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge. Its about 15 minutes away from Cedar Point, which we plan to go to this summer and are thankful to have found this Best Western as this is where we intend to stay. The hotel halls and room were spotless clean. The staff was great, especially Carly who I met checking in. After a long car trip, I was pretty beat. Carly, however, was so friendly and outgoing - we instantly struck up a funny conversation which made my night. She's an asset to the team for sure. The only odd thing about the stay, I thought, was that the hotel's pool was an indoor therapy pool - which means a small heated pool not comfortably big enough for 2 families. You could use the full size indoor pool at the Comfort Inn next door as the hotels had an agreement in place to do so, but I would have to REALLY want to swim in a bigger pool pretty bad to make that trip across the lot. Nahh, The therapy pool will do just fine for a dip. ;)

"One Night Stay while Travelling"

Had to drive to Sandusky to pick up my husband at 4am from the Amtrak station that is a 10 minute drive away. Stayed here and slept until 4 am and then picked him up and slept until check out as he had been on the train for 3 straight days. The bed was comfortable, the shower was clean and the toiletries were convenient. We slept through the breakfast but got the late check out that I requested. I would definitely stay here again.

"Good Quality Stay"

When I walked into my room I was really impressed by the layout with an area with a sitting area with a couch, bench and coffee table. The size of the room was big the decor or the room was also really nice. The express checkout option made it nice in the morning. I was just at the hotel briefly for one night but I was really happy with it.

great hotel, very clean the rooms are a nice size. The beds are comfortable . I always stay there when I visit Sandusky. It is conveniently located too. Would recommend it for business and or families.

"Plus? More Like BW Minus"

We are here three days for a funeral. Housekeeping never made it to our room. If I wanted budget service I would have paid half as much a day for the "We'll-keep-the-lights-on-for-ya" folks down the street. The carpets are not clean, there were various types of hair in our made bed the day we arrived, towels are car wash grade flimsy. To be fair it's off season and it was around $100 a night for a single king including taxes and fees. But I wish I had paid $40 more a night for a better hotel. Also, they offered to take something off the price of the room for not providing housekeeping. That's not the point. I'm not trying to cut a deal by complaining. I would like them to step up their game a bit and really earn their high position on Tripadvisor.

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is. We have been disappointed with Best Westerns in the past. Nice decor, comfortable room, and friendly staff. Close to restaurants (Danny's - a short walk away - yum). The only disappointment for my husband was a less than adequate bike in the workout room.

Making the reservation was easy. We had stayed here before and wanted to come back. However, when we arrived to check in our reservation was not correct, we were lied to about room availability and then the customer service got worse. While the property is nice and location convenient I will be looking for another place for my next visit.

The hotel was overall welcoming and nice. There were a bunch of kids staying on our floor but we did not hear them even though we slept close to the lobby. The concierge were polite. It was a last minute reservation and we got one of the last two rooms.

"OK but not stellar"

Very poor pool amenity but it's open 24 hours if you want a dip in a non-chlorinated, dirty water. Staff was friendly but a little "over" having to recite the check-in procedure. Fridge made loud clicking noises all night, turned it off after that. Breakfast was OK, lady bussing breakfast was a very nice. Bed may have been many years old or very cheap spring bed. Felt lumpy and uneven.

I stayed here overnight for business travel. The room was very clean with comfortable bed. It was quiet offering a good night sleep. Cost was very reasonable. The workout room equipment needed some maintenance. The staff I interacted with were very friendly. Would stay here again if in the area.

This hotel was clean and looked nice but the value for the money spent, even with a deal, was not worth it...stayed the next night somewhere cheaper and right next to the park and was better value! However I will say that the staff was very friendly!

exceptionly clean,large rooms,very friendly staff.especially the breakfast guy.while visiting cedar point with my daughter we choose this place based on price,location and trip advisor reviews. we had wanted to stay at the parks motel but it was booked and after seeing it when driving into the park im happy we chose the BW.the breakfast was good,the coffee excellent, and was replenished as needed by the awesome breakfast guy. saturday morning he had his hands full and remained calm and friendly. a bit of an odd poolsituation ,you have to go to the adjoining motel, same owner, but there was a lap pool in the basement. the price was right,houskeeping cleaned the room everyday,3 day stay, and the location was 10 minutes from cedar point.would definitely recommend this motel

We chose this hotel because it was close enough to Cedar Point and the price was right. It was actually closer than we thought and made commuting to the park easy. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby if you need to refuel for your trip. Very friendly staff, spacious room. It was clean and worked perfect for a short trip. Would recommend to other Cedar Point Visitors!

It's hard to find a non-smoking hotel in this area. We were on our last leg of a long business trip back from Atlanta, GA. This was the nicest hotel we had stayed at on our trip and our first Best Western Plus stay. We will def be back. Great experience, great room, great price.

"Over Booked"

My family and I booked this hotel one month in advance and when we arrived for our vacation they were over booked. The hotel desk clerk was unfriendly and didn't help my family and I find another hotel. The devastating part about this entire situation is that I stayed at this hotel before and gave them great rating. I can only conclude that since my last stay the hotel has declined in their service to their guests. I tried to work out an arrangement with the manager for a free future stay however she never followed through with sending the information to me. I guess her word was as good as my reservation. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to disappoint your family/children.
