"I do not recommend!"

User 24/01/2023

I could hear the highway from my room, white awful lights in room, really noisy heater, the old alarm clock had a continuous clicking sound... Rugs felt old and dirty. The room was very depressing - outdated and icky feeling.

"Would stay again! Great breakfast!"

j97elroy, New York City 14/08/2022

Spent an overnight layover here and was pleasantly surprised! Bed was very comfortable, rooms were clean and not dated; breakfast was actually the best free hotel breakfast I've ever had, with lots of selections - delicious and fresh. Jack at the front desk was a pleasure and they checked me in in no time! 7 minute drive to the airport. Would definitely stay again. Have two suggestions: put in blackout curtains in the room and organize a free airport shuttle, perhaps in conjunction with other hotels in the area.

"Bathroom floor dirty"

4
User 26/07/2022

The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good. The location wasn't to bad. My biggest complaint was the bathroom floor. It needs to be scrubbed. The edge of the bathtub was all black with dirt or mold. Absolutely no excuse for it. Besides that the room was comfortable.

"Terrible service"

2
User 23/07/2022

The service is terrible, I first walk in with my mom and the only receptionist they have all week round is so out of it and rude, then we walk up to the room and I set up my laptop and start playing games and it's all good and well. I meet up with my girlfriend and as we're walking down stairs this guy is just STARING at her butt every time she gets up and I glare at him to kinda tell him no and he just ignores me and keeps looking (we're both 16). So later that night I go upstairs and start playing games again, but after 15 minutes it kicks me out and says “internet connection failure, check your router” and I go to the web browser and it works just fine. So I mess with it for a while and it wont let me in and then an hour goes by and I can go back in and continue to play; yet another 20 minutes goes by and it kicks me out AGAIN. And it's been doing this every single night except for the first night when it was completely fine and I was able to play from 10pm to 2:30am when I went to bed. Also don't eat the eggs, they almost ruined a china town trip for me. Also two cars got robbed back to back in their little parking garage the day I got here.

"Take your business elsewhere."

1
User 06/06/2022

Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else ... anywhere else. I booked this hotel out of necessity when my dad tested positive for Covid; I wanted to be close to his house but obviously not in the house with him.  The booking was the easiest part of the experience. The hotel's signage indicates that "Mask [sic] are still preferred at this facility.  We remain diligent against the spread of Covid and it's [sic] variants and choose to protect you as well as hotel staff." (see photo) However, the only staff member who was masked was the staffer who attended to the breakfast offerings in the morning.  I never saw any of the front desk or housekeeping staff wearing masks, and patrons were about 50/50 on mask wearing. The elevator permit is expired as of the date I stayed (early June 2022) or at least they have not posted the new certificate.  The one posted shows an expiration of 4/15/2022. (see photo). When I checked in, I was told they had rooms on every floor and I told them I would take anything but the first floor.  I was given a room on the second floor with a view of the golf course.  The room did in fact have a view of the golf course, but it was like one of those "ocean view" rooms where you can see a tiny sliver of ocean in the distance. Oh and in between the room and the view of the golf course was a view of their parking lot, a street, and the trash cans for the golf course, which by the way were emptied by loud trucks 2 out of the 3 mornings I was there. The view was mildly disappointing but I didn't book the hotel for the view.  I did however book the hotel to sleep and work in while being close to my dad's house.  When I got to the room, nothing was plugged in - I had to plug in the lamps, the alarm clock, and even the telephone.  I checked the fridge and it wasn't cold even though it was on (light was on and there was condensation in the back), so I went downstairs to ask the front desk about it.  The person from the front desk came and checked the fridge and said the temperature had been turned up and he turned it down for me; the fridge did eventually get cold.  Good thing I had my perishables packed in a cooler! In the bathroom, it was clear that there had been a leak, overflow, or some other form of water damage around the tub.  It was clear it hadn't been deep clean in awhile. Since I doubted any of the other rooms would be better and it was only going to be for 3 nights, I decided to live with the bathroom being what it was. I don't have any photos but it was room 227 if you want to check it out for yourself. The first night, I was kept up until 1 a.m. by loud talking from either my nextdoor or upstairs neighbor.  It was annoying but thin walls aren't uncommon in hotels.  Then at 3 a.m. I was woken up by a child screaming and crying, which went on for only about 10 minutes thankfully.  Unfortunately, this 3 a.m. wakeup call happened each of the following 2 nights as well. The first morning after checking in, it seemed one of my neighbors was checking out (I was hopeful that it was the one making so much noise, but it was not).  The housekeeping staff was nextdoor and I could hear their music blasting for the better part of a hour from about 10-11 while I was in a client meeting. I had already explained to my clients that I was staying in a hotel and apologized for the noises, but it was frustrating nonetheless. Upon check-in, I requested a late checkout (noon) for Thursday since I had a client meeting that would go until 11:50 and check out was 11.  I was told by the front desk staff that that was no problem, that he made a note on my account and that I was good to go.  I was thrilled as it meant not having to reschedule my client or find another location from which to attend the zoom.  Fast forward to Thursday at a few minutes after 11 and I get a phone call to my room interrupting my meeting.  The front desk person asked me if I was still planning on checking out that day to which I responded that I had requested a late check out when I checked in.  He proceeded to tell me that the person who checked me in wasn't allowed to do that; I told him that wasn't my fault and now I was in the middle of the meeting which was the entire purpose for requesting the late check out.  Mere minutes after getting off the phone, my meeting was again interrupted by housekeeping knocking at my door asking me if I was checking out and I repeated the entire conversation.  Meanwhile, my client was waiting. And the cherry on top of this hotel stay was that after I left, I was charged $20.  I called that same day to ask about the charge and was told it was a stained sheet and they sent me a photo of said sheet. I asked if they had washed the sheet and was told that if housekeeping finds a stained sheet they don't try to get the stain out, they discard the sheet.  So, since I was being charged for this sheet, I asked to pick up the sheet. The person I spoke with then said they would talk to their manager and get right back to me. The next day, I had not heard back, so I called again.  I was put on hold for nearly half an hour while another front desk person went to talk to the manager, came back on the phone without additional info, and then put me on hold again.  This time the manager, Chris, came on and I again inquired about the $20 charge.  He repeated it was for a stained sheet.  But then he said housekeeping was trying to get it out and that if they were able to remove it the charge will be reversed. I told the manager that I was told something different by his staff the day before and that I also had an issue with the late check out so it is clear that his staff either doesn't know the procedures or doesn't follow them, whether it is the same person who erred twice or different people. I also told the manager that if they are unable to get the stain out, I want to pick up the sheet.  He said he would call me back on Monday morning after they had the chance to work on it over the weekend. Here we are Monday afternoon and I didn't hear from the manager, so about a quarter past 1, I call the hotel and ask for the manager. I had to remind him why I was calling and that he had told me he would call me this morning but failed to do so. He told me that housekeeping couldn't get out whatever stain is on the sheet so the $20 would stand but that I could come pick up the sheet, which I will be doing. I wasn't planning on writing this review (otherwise I'd have a lot more photos) and to be clear, it is not about the $20, that charge is not going to make or break me, (but it is the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak). This review is so that other people know not to stay at this hotel or to at least know what they are getting themselves into if they do: a subpar room, a staff that doesn't know what is going on or disregards policies to the detriment of the guest, and extra charges on your credit card. Money talks, please take your business elsewhere. As for me, I will no longer be giving Best Western any of my business.

"Plan ahead and stay somewhere else"

User 21/05/2022

Booked a last minute mini-vacation. With over 10 years working in parks and recreation, I wanted to be close to Coyote Point Recreational Area. Came from Ventura, California to stay the weekend. The Motel 6 and Vagabond Inn in down town Ventura both have well a maintained pool and spa facility. Anyway, upon arrival, I made sure I did not leave valuables in my car, nothing of value. When checking in I asked where the spa was and was told it's been closed by the San Mateo County department of public health for a while. I looked at the spa. A previous 1* review from 2019 captured the unsanitary conditions. I did not use any of Best Western Coyote Points Fitness Center/Work Out Room, not at all because of Covid, but because I'm not risking my health using potentially unsanitary gym equipment or saunas because I know better. I opted to make a steam room in the the room's shower room. Next trip to the bay area, I am not staying here. 2 stars based on location, 1 star based on the spa.

Clean and modern hotel but highway noise was just awful. I will never stay here again. Even with earplugs the noise was too much for me. I wasnt going to try to change rooms at midnight so thought maybe as night progressed highway noise would diminish. It never did

"Convenient stay for SF visit"

Eric P, Lake Forest, California 30/12/2021

This hotel is a standard BW hotel with decent room and good hot full breakfast. Location is convenient and there are ample parking. Service is top notch I deduct 1 star for the in hotel noise level. You can certainly hear foot noise from level above and also very loud water noise from next room shower. For a hotel in the bay, are, a complete lack of USB charging plugs is quite a shocking

"Comfortable and clean"

Room size and amenities are adequate. It was clean with a good bed. Location was good for our purposes. Somewhat awkward arrangement of doors at entry to room and bathroom. Room was clean. Small towels.

"Amazing beds and great breakfast"

5
Passport53847287544, Claremont, California 25/12/2021

Bed was so amazing after a long 2 weeks of driving. The breakfast had more options then most best western. This was a great hotel. Would definitely stay again. Just FYI not great for truck and trailer parking. I managed to parallel on the side street but I doubt the street parking is always available.

"Safe & Friendly Stay in the Bay"

User 23/12/2021

The Best Western at Coyote Point in San Mateo was a great decision for me. I was able to check in my bags, leave my car underground in the garage and spend the day in San Francisco without worries. We took a train there and back, the station is close to the hotel. The rooms were very nice, quiet, clean all the amenities and the staff was GREAT. We got invited to breakfast both days we were there. Very nice.

"Poor Security. Car window smashed. Non paying guests/thugs allowed to eat free breakfast/coffee"

1
User 22/12/2021

My car was broken into on the morning of Thursday, December 16th at 7:20 am. Yes. I left a bag behind my driver's seat thinking their underground parking was safe. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times without any problems in the past. The footage from their security cameras showed two thugs that looked like they lived in the area going into the hotel and getting free breakfast and coffee and then proceeded to break my driver's side window. My bag was wedged behind my front driver's seat. Someone had moved the driver's seat forward, but camera footage doesn't show who did this. Nothing was taken. Just the damage to window. Again, the camera footage did not show the thugs manually pulling the seat forward. Strange how it got that way... Anyway, I felt the manager and staff were very condescending and treated me like the villain. This hotel needs to step up their security and be more vigilant on who they allow into the hotel. They allow non paying guests/thugs to enter and eat breakfast for free. Very laxed security. Hotel is in a dicey neighborhood. Needless to say, I will NEVER go there again. Not Safe....

"Excellent Place to stay"

5
rachelfalani, Atwater, California 17/12/2021

Room was very clean, and breakfast was excellent! The front desk girl (forgot her name) had a wonderful attitude and was very warming. The room itself was very quiet, beds were comfy. The breakfast was very tasty and the lady that supervised the breakfast made sure all Covid protocols were in place which made it even more satisfying!

"Filthy"

1
Bartkimber, San Jose, California 04/12/2021

When I arrived at this hotel, I noticed trash pile up in the front parking lot that continued into the lobby… The reception area was also filthy, when I went up to my room, exiting the elevators, I noticed there was trash pile up there in the corners and filling and above the small bin. On the contrary the room was fine, nothing special but adequate. To me the cleanliness of the building outside and the personal responsibility of the reception staff for keeping the area clean is reflective on the rest of the hotel. I was nervous at breakfast, but the attendant there seem to really be on top of it also, it was fine. Very low points for overall appearance of the hotel, it really reflected that nobody cares about making the place look nice.

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear Bartkimber, Thank you for leaving your feedback. We are extremely sorry to hear about your experience with us. We thank you for bringing up these points as we will definitely pay special attention to these areas moving forward. Everything was extremely clean. I had a smoke free room that did not disappoint. The breakfast buffet was a huge plus. Plenty of FREE parking as well. All for a decent price. 20min drive to SF Union Square. Was able to check in late around 9:40pm after I left the airport. The staff are extremely friendly as well. It was just a great experience!

RaChaCha, Rochester, NY 05/11/2021

Friendly, professional staff. Great value. Meets all the usual expectations and more, for example: fully adjustable desk chair. This room could have been in a Residence Inn (room supports remote work). I arrived late and left early so don't really know about neighborhood walk-ability, but sidewalks did not look as good in person as it did on Maps. Plenty of parking in the underground garage (during my stay). Met all expectations of cleanliness and amenities.

This is a little gem. Very clean room. Great rate for the area. Near airport. I needed a night away from noisy family to work on a work project. Did not stay the whole time, but the room was sufficient for the few hours I needed. Did use the bed for a little catnap and it was very comfortable. Reception was awesome, and very helpful. This is a little gem in the very expensive area.

"Great staff"

littleyacht, United States 31/08/2021

We spent two nights at this hotel. I chose it because it is close to the airport and to family in San Mateo. The price is very reasonable for the area, especially if you consider the complimentary parking in the hotel parking lot or underground garage. Unlike most other hotels in the area, full breakfast is being served and you may request daily maid service if you would like it. Every staff member we had contact with was friendly and helpful and more than happy to answer questions or fill any request. A few things to take note of: there is no "pool," only a spa or plunge pool (not sure which) which is currently closed. There is a small workout room which appeared to be open for use. If you look this property up on maps, the location is misleading. You appear to be right down the street from the Coyote Recreation Area, however, you cannot access it from the street the hotel is on. We had to walk a long way around the adjoining golf course, only to find that the entrance was closed due to construction which is going to go on for some time. Also, as I believe someone mentioned, the hotel is directly across the street from HWY 101 (entrance down the block), so there is constant road noise. BUT, it isn't city stop-and-go traffic and we found it to be simply white noise in the background that helped us sleep. Views from the hotel aren't great, but for a place to stay that's reasonable and close to the airport, I'd stay here again.

GTB-SFO, San Mateo, California 09/07/2021

I stayed here on Thursday evening 7/8/21 . Total cost for a King bed room with tax $109.21 an excellent price for the area and for this excellent hotel. There are no “resort fees” “environmental fees” or any other such additional charges. Parking is free and underground parking is available. Upon my arrival I was warmly greeted by Chris at the front desk. When I inquired about food delivery options (there is no restaurant within walking distance) Chris provided me with restaurant delivery information and suggestions. Speaking of food, this BW has again begun offering a hot buffet breakfast including scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, biscuits, make your own waffles, bread & bagels to be toasted, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, coffee & juice. As always, my room was clean and quiet with a coffeemaker, micro and fridge (without freezer section). The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable. The towels were large and thick, the water hot. All in all a very nice and quiet hotel with an excellent staff. You won't go wrong staying here.

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear GTB, Thank you for leaving your feedback. We are happy you enjoyed our complimentary parking and breakfast. Unfortunately, we are just a little distance away from walking distance to restaurants. However, there are many places to eat at in downtown San Mateo which is only a couple miles from the property. We do hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Best Western Coyote Point Inn

"Do not support this hotel."

User 08/07/2021

Please do not support this hotel. I am sharing my painful experience so that no one else will have to go through what I did. I was racially profiled, berated, and utterly humiliated by Ed, the front desk manager. On the morning of checkout I decided to extend my stay through a third-party app. I went downstairs to finalize this and before I could even give my name and room number, Ed demand I stop smoking cannabis in the room. I told him I was not smoking cannabis in the room and his only response to this was “yes you are, I know you are.” After his continued accosting I interjected and told him I just wanted to finalize my extension and go back to the room. I gave him my name and room number and this is when he realized he was humiliating the wrong person. His only response to this was “Everybody looks the same behind a mask.” I'm sorry, but I do not imagine he would've mistaken me for a white man an Asian man or Latin man. What he meant by that disgusting comment is that all Black people look alike and should be treated as such. What makes this even worse is this person was a fellow person of color and a member of the AAPI community. Please do not support this hotel until some changes have been made in management.

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. I am very sorry that this has occurred during your stay with us. We at the Best Western Coyote Point Inn want all guests from any background to feel welcomed and at home with us. Ed will definitely be disciplined for his actions and will be questioned for his meanings behind his words. Please feel free to reach out to the hotel, and ask for me. I would like to hear from you personally, so as to make sense of the situation and actions to proceed with. We do hope that we can provide you a better impression of us the next time you're in the area. Sincerely, Leyland Chin

Value for money. Very pleasant stay. Multiple options in Hot breakfast. Hotel guestroom spacious (we booked double bed room). Overall all family members (from age 5-65) enjoyed. Staff courteous. Nothing to complain.

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear Mayuresh, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are happy you enjoyed your accommodations with us. We are a family-friendly hotel, and find that families prefer the two double bed rooms as it is more spacious. In addition, our complimentary breakfast in the morning has something for everyone. We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Leyland Chin

User 23/06/2021

I'm so glad I booked this hotel for our trip to the San Francisco area. It's conveniently located close to the airport and it was very easy to jump on the highway and zip north to SF for the day. The continental breakfast was really great, our room was clean and comfortable, but what really stood out to us was the customer service. Chris at the front desk was extremely friendly and hospitable. He gave us restaurant recommendations that ended up being one of our most favorite parts of our trip. Thank you!!

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear W4169DAsarahk, Thank you for leaving your feedback. We are glad you found our convenient location to your liking. The central location makes it easy to go both North and South of the bay area. I will be sure to commend Chris on his outstanding hospitality and ensure that the front desk always provides great service. We hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Leyland Chin

This is by far one of the best hotels I've stayed in the Bay Area, Excellent customer service, very clean hotel. It's also a great location because I can easily get to different other cities within the San Francisco area.

clean nice property, better breakfast options compare to some Hilton, Hampton hotels we've staid recently. it could be nice to have hot burger or something similar for breakfast, like Turkish airlines have on their morning flights even domestic

This is a wonderful, calm, clean, quiet place. Anything you need- the front desk is more than happy to get it for you! Not just towels, but toothpaste and toothbrush too! My bathtub plug didn't work, and I was immediately moved to an adjacent room by Ed with an apology! Wow! This place truly is my sanctuary!

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear Leanna, Thank you for leaving your feedback! We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and found convenience with our complimentary items. We will definitely take a look at that bath plug in your former room, but we are always ready to help. We hope to see you again soon!

Ronald C, Rocklin 10/04/2021

Travel to the Bay area is much easier and less expensive under the current conditions. Take advantage while it lasts. I am sure the cost will increase as more people travel and work away from home. Close to the airport and other attractions.

Leyland Chin, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Dear Ronald, Thank you for your feedback. We are extremely happy that you enjoyed your stay. As you said, we are conveniently located near the airport and only a half an hour drive from attractions throughout the Bay such as Half Moon Bay, Ocean Beach, Pacifica, and more. We hope to see you again soon! Sincerely,

Good value for price. Fiance and 6 year old daughter kept talking about "how nice the hotel is" especially for the price. The location is a little hidden and not really much to look at out the windows except beautiful weather. Stayed during covid, and everything was distanced...very clean and tidy...and they provided a pre-packaged breakfast option in the morning.

chriz_2285, Elk Grove, California 08/09/2020

This is the WORST Best Western ever! I could let go of the fact that the hotel is in dire need of remodelling ASAP, but I will not let it pass how awful your customer service is having a liar & a very disrespectful front desk staff by the name of Patty (Chinese looking guy). 9/6/20, around 9pm, my family & I were already exhausted & tired, we were given room 230 with a BROKEN AC UNIT. I have complained numerous times, called front desk and was kept repeatedly "promised" that a "maintenance guy" will fix it. Needless to say, I never saw a maintenance person in our entire stay in this hotel. I have lost all my cool knowing that I have a 3 month old with us who is suffering the Bay area excessive heat wave that night. I have politely asked to change our room, but was informed that the hotel was "sold out" - this is a LIE. I told my folks to go in the front desk and follow-up, since it looked like that our calls were being ignored already, was told again that he will fix the issue himself and be right up in 3 minutes - this is another LIE. Honestly speaking, I can consider myself as the best customer you will have, I will never be rude no matter how worst the situation is, I was raised to show grace under pressure, but your staff pushed me to my edge. 1. I was mocked multiple times by your staff telling me that "I was not an elite member that long" (I have Platinum status) and that he has 5 million points and that he will "give me some" for the inconvenience 2. The lies kept piling up, after I have told him that no maintenance person has shown up like he said he called, next thing he said, "I am the only one left here" - so you were deliberately lying coz no matter how much we wait, no one will really show up 3. I was racially discriminated by him saying "You are a Filipino right, that is what you do" - this is below the belt now! That night, I just don't have all the energy to get furious, and thank God my tired body stopped me from doing the worst to this man. I know that after all the b**s** he caused, a room change was given to us, but it will never suffice all the troubles caused. I will never forgive & forget this experience; and remember word of mouth marketing, you can certainly count on me to inform everyone I know from family, work and those in between to STAY AWAY from this TERRIBLE HOTEL.

"Clean and Comfortable"

SDlosangeles2020, Beverly Hills, California 14/07/2020

We stayed at the Best Western Coyote Point Inn a few days ago and loved everything about it. It is minutes from SFO and right off the 101 freeway so the location was great. Check-in was no-contact and fast. When we got into our room and discovered it was on the ground floor, we asked to be moved to a higher floor. No problem at all. We were immediately given keys to a new room. The room was clean, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. Check-out was also no contact. We will definitely be staying here again on our trip. Thank you!

"Good Value"

65pjb, Vacaille 11/07/2020

During the Covid-19 crisis many amenities were not available- breakfast, fitness room, spa. The room was clean and appealing- bathroom needs a little updating. Microwave and refrigerator in the room was a plus. There was virually no noise from the freeqay traffic which runs right beside the facility. It would have been nice to have a vegetarian option available in the vending machine

"Excellent BW/Front Desk Staff Excellent"

GTB-SFO, San Mateo, California 06/06/2020

Stayed here on a Thursday night, June 4, 2020. The cost with tax $110.00. Upon checking in the lady at the front desk warmly welcomed me! My room & bath were very clean and nicely furnished, the king bed was very comfortable, the room is good sized as are the towels. There's a coffeemaker, micro & fridge (no freezer section) in the room. Large screen tv on dresser and the screen swivels to face the bed or couch area. The rooms are very quiet. As there is no restaurant at the hotel the staff at the front desk gave me a couple menus from different pizza delivery places and I ordered a pizza. Other delivery options are available from restaurants in San Mateo and Burlingame. I used to walk a short distance down the street to a restaurant in a Holiday Inn, but both the Holiday Inn and the Bistro 330 restaurant there are closed as a result of the Covid-19 virus. Also, due to the virus there is no more breakfast buffet at this Best Western. They offer a sack to take with you or back to the room. In the sack are a bottle of water, a granola bar and a small package with 3 very small chocolate chip muffins in it. I ended up eating leftover pizza for breakfast. The only complaint of my stay is that breakfast bag. The contents of this breakfast sack needs to be substantially improved as there is nothing else available.

It's so nice to have a clean, consistent place to stay when you're working away from home. The breakfast is always good, the internet just works, and everyone is so friendly. I've tried staying at other places to save money and always come back to Best Western for the value.

I'm writing this about my own daughters impression. Thanks to Trip Advisor reviews, I chose the right place. She is 23 and going to work training. I needed to pay for a place for her to stay because with traffic it would take 2 hours in the morning to get there. I searched for a decent affordable place and came across this. I read numerous reviews and decided to purchase. I'm so happy I did. She text I'm safe and this is a good place to stay! 2.5 stars is dead on. Most claim it but are really a 2! For those looking for an affordable place in this area, do not hesitate. Thank to this property for keeping my daughter safe and go those who took time to write a review! People like us rely on those!!!!

Cdirksen13, San Diego, California 15/12/2019

Perfect spot to stay while enjoying San Francisco and San Jose. Room was no fuss, no muss. Clean and efficient. Quiet hotel even though it was close to freway. Breakfast was different each day of our 3 day stay.

"family friendly"

5
kneukomm, Orange County, California 02/12/2019

Very clean. Complimentary continental breakfast was hot with lots of options for the kids and heart-healthy options for me; even had the news on and hot coffee and donuts for dad. Room cleaning service even tidied the kids' sleep stuffies. Shared lots of dinner resources for a tired family arriving late who hadn't eaten yet. Surroundings aren't pretty, but super easy to access the subway or airport.

I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference in SF. Everything was clean, very quiet, and staff was very helpful. Very convenient location off the 101 to get to basically anywhere you need to go in the Bay Area - also very easy to get to BART and Caltrain with a short uber/car ride.

"Huge tangle of hair and dust hanging from the light switch next to the door-- what a welcome"

1
laurendpat, San Francisco, California 02/11/2019

The huge tangle of hair and dust hanging from the light switch was so disgusting. I was dumbfounded as to how the cleaning staff did not see it or care to remove it. When I wiped down the surface areas of the room for germs, I was actually cleaning them as spills that i thought must have been stuck to surface easily came up for me--- so the room had only been partically cleaned. I slept with bath towels over the pillows so that I didnt touch the pillows, put a towel on the bed as to not touch the sheets.

drove down from Redding, Ca. for a party for a 100 yr. old lady her family was giving her. Another old time friend joined me and we shared a room .she drove down from Nv. We loved the room and breakfast and closeness to the freeway and ease of travel. Beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed our room which was quiet and the amenities.

The hotel was very clean. We got a king sized bed room and it was spacious. The bed was comfortable. Two complaints are: It was next to a freeway so we could hear road noise. Also, the towels were rough.

"Convenient to airport."

Wylie18, Great Western, Australia 31/08/2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay here. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated, but it was clean and comfortable and very convenient to the airport. Free parking and breakfast were a welcomed surprise. We walked down to the waters edge in the evening and spoke to lots of the locals out strolling or enjoying the evening on their patios. We never felt unsafe, pleasantly surprised by how friendly everyone was including all of the hotel staff. The free washing machine and dryer were the icing on the cake.

"STAY ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!!!"

1
Esterine D, Stockton, California 15/08/2019

I booked a two night stay for a class. During my second night's stay I stood in the bathroom naked about to take a shower when suddenly someone was getting into my room. If I hadn't had the bathroom door opened completely; the intruder would have seen me in my birthday suit. When I called the front desk they told me they thought the room was empty. My advice; put the deadbolt on as soon as you enter the room for your own safety. You never know if the front desk staff is competent or caring! Even after reporting the incident; NO ONE reached out to me! Lesson learned! STAY ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY! THIS PLACE ISN'T SAFE!

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to let us know your concerns. Everyone on the Best Western Coyote Point team is focused on the safety of our guests. On the night you stayed with us, the computer system had gone down and we obviously made a mistake with our manual system. I am truly sorry that this happened and also that you felt neglected. I did call the phone number we had for you to apologize and give you an opportunity to discuss, but we must have something wrong, because no one returned my call. Again, we are truly sorry that this happened, and would love for you to give us another opportunity to give you excellent service. Warm regards,

"Terrible stay"

1
123fb, Dallas 09/08/2019

Awful experience. We had people making loud noise beside our room and above. Go down to the desk and are told we can only change to another room that will be even noisier by the road/freeway. Go to the “fitness” center and there's a couple old machines. We leave. Big ugly pod outside the hotel entrance as well as a truck/trailer out front. Ask for to breakfast grab bags the night before as we have an early flight. Front desk guy says they'll be ready. Go to check out and not only no grab bags, no one is at the front desk either. After waking around looking for someone and waiting, we just leave. For well over $100/night we were so disappointed!

We went to San Francisco, but a really cheaper to stay at San Mateo and we had a car so it was a good option. The airport is also much closer. Nice eco room with comfy bad and a breakfast was also enough to start a day.

"Mostly good but..."

4
T5940NUdavidh, Merced, California 27/07/2019

This San Mateo motel is conveniently located right off Hwy 101. It was easy to park and the staff was welcoming and efficient. But — although the room was very nice, it was next to the elevators, which made a continuous droning sound throughout the night. There was also a chemical smell in the room which never went away. Breakfast included a wide variety of items, but we were disappointed in the eggs and hash browns. Overall, it was good but there's room for improvement.

I stayed in Best Western Hotel for 3 nights with my family, first of all it's very cheap as compared to Union Square where you pay 4 times more and it's not worth paying so much extra, plus point u get breakfast included and it's very good too to start your day with, Parking is free, nice, clean Hotel, safe to stay, if you want to go to the Public attractions only 30 mins drive to all places you wanna see as a tourist overall experience was, and one important thing laundry is free, I will give this hotel 8/10.

"Manager very rude"

3
User 16/07/2019

The desk manager, Ed, was a very rude man to me and had the smell of alcohol on his breath. There was no one at the reception desk for 10 minutes when we arrived. When Ed finally appeared and I said we have a reservation, he said rudely "Can't you see the sign? Checkin is at 3 pm!" My wife said she could definitely smell alcohol on his breath. I think he was drunk. The next day during breakfast the entire breakfast room could hear some guest screaming angrily at Ed at the front desk. The hotel itself however was very nice and no other complaints.

Horrible , the person next to me was watching T V, could hear everything. Makes me wonder about prior reviews , they forgot to mention there is 40 foot dumpster and fork lift for reconstruction of hotel that takes up majority of parking. Jaucuzi was dirty. Questionable neighborhoods. Don't make the mistake I made STAY AWAY if you value your rest. I am writing this review at midnight since I can't sleep due to this thin walls.

Candy W, Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Hello Maria, We are very sorry to hear about your experience. I do understand that noise from other rooms can be a nuisance. I wonder, did you let the front desk know? We don't often get noise complaints from TV's, so theirs must have been excessively loud and we certainly would have let the guest know that they needed to lower the sound. As far as the shipping container, it hardly takes up a "majority of parking". While it is temporarily taking up a few of the upper-level spots while we finish our project, we have a garage that has plenty of spaces. Did you inquire with the front desk for all parking options? Overall, it seems that we might have helped make the stay more enjoyable if given the opportunity. Next time, please give us (and any other hotel you stay at) the opportunity to handle any issue that arises since our goal is always to give the best experience possible. We hope we get the opportunity to give you an excellent experience in the future.

This hotel is near enough to the airport and the 101 to make getting around very quick and easy. I was a little worried about plane noise and highway noise, but my worry was unfounded. The hotel is incredibly quiet at all times of the day, and while I could hear plane takeoff noise if I was quiet and tried to pick it up, it wasn't remotely loud enough to cause any sort of disturbance. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the hotel was kept clean and in order throughout the day. I'm not a fan of the standard hotel breakfast so I picked at coffee, fruit, and eggs, but their offering was comprehensive with several kinds of bread and bagel, waffles made to order, meats, eggs, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice, etc. I will absolutely stay there again and recommend for anyone looking for a nice, clean, quiet hotel, in easy distance to the airport, the city, and all of the highways.

We had a great stay at the Best Western Coyote Point. The room was fine - clean and comfortable. The location is very convenient. Especially appreciated the small table with four chairs and the work desk. The breakfast area and reception area were fine. The bay walking path is a 15 walk or short drive.

"Great Choice Near the Airport"

User 28/05/2019

We chose this hotel because it was only a few miles from the airport. However, we were surprised to learn they do not provide a free shuttle to the airport but offer an arranged ride for $15, which was not a big deal. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was for the most part, quiet, but we could hear people walking above us and talking in the rooms next to us. They provided nice bath products and our maid had made nice pretty flowers or fans (I'm not quite sure which) out of the tissue, toilet paper, and towels. It was a nice added to touch. The breakfast was good. We enjoyed the flavored waffles and egg and sausage. The staff was also very friendly. I would recommend this hotel if looking in this area.

My husband and I stayed in the King Suite while accompanying our son's high school jazz and wind ensemble band to perform in bay area (The band lodged at a different hotel). The room we stayed in was very spacious and very quiet. Surprisingly, our bed was pretty comfortable, not super worn or soft. There was actual firmness to the mattress and pillows. We were actually able to sleep really well during our stay! Would recommend the TV be placed closer to bed or that there be two TVs for such a large room, especially if travelers are not a couple. This is a good hotel for resting and using as a base while visiting the bay area. Its a nice place for what it is as long as you don't plan on spending much time there as you would at a resort hotel. We appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the staff's friendliness.

mnm3541, Lincoln City, Oregon 04/05/2019

Had a great time staying here. Room was comfortable and clean. Mele at the front desk was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Only minor issue was that we got held up with the elevator doors stuck when we were checking out. Front desk agent was quick to reset it and get the doors open but still not a great way to end the trip. All in all I would definitely stay again and would reccomend to anyone looking for a stay with great value a short distance outside of San Fransisco.

Enjoyed staying at this location. They have a friendly, helpful staff, there is a variety of good breakfast foods, the beds and pillows are really comfortable, and the rooms (overall property) was clean. Great accommodations for solo or family travel..

Clean quiet room, we had one away from the freeway. Bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels. Very helpful and friendly front desk personnel. Convenient to San Francisco with plenty of free parking and breakfast. We are planning to stay here again.

Convenient spot. Nothing too special - customer service was good. I can't say too much becasue I arrived latebut nonetheless. No issues at check in, front desk was nice. Intent to recommend would be a 6/10 to be fair.

BW always has comfortable rooms and a good included breakfast bar. The last time I stayed there, they had added a number of healthy options. Rooms have recently been updated. It is near the airport and many other San Mateo locations. It was a great location for our needs.

"Very nice stay!"

Cali4niahiker, Merced, California 13/04/2019

Plenty of free parking in front and/or garage under hotel. Check-in and check-out was friendly and efficient. Employees are well trained and “take ownership”, they don't “just work” there. I rented 2 King bed rooms. The rooms were clean, large, the beds very comfortable. WiFi worked well. Did not use pool, exercise room or sauna. Breakfast was good, lots of variety, and attending friendly staff. All in all a positive experience. I've stayed here before after picking up family from the airport and wanting to explore the area. The location is good, close to airport and rental cars, and less than 30 minutes from San Francisco. I didn't check if there is an EV charging station, but the Tesla Supercharger is about a 10 Minute drive South of the motel off 101.

"Best night ever!!!"

The rooms are ok. Medium size and clean. The breakfast is medium too. Not too much choice . The staff is ok. There are no bars and restaurants around by feet. Also quite costly if there are conventions.

We decided to stay at this hotel as it was close to the wedding reception venue that we attended. You would never know it is near a freeway. Rooms were quiet, staff was friendly and helpful and the overall hotel was very clean!

"Coyote Point has everything!"

Stephen L, Reno 11/02/2019

Love to stay here... staff is always so friendly. This hotel next to a golf course and coyote point park. the park has lots of great walking trails, beach area, castle-and-dragon-themed Magic Mountain Playground and CuriOdyssey where they can get up-close to wild animals and enjoy hands-on science exhibits. Lots fo great restaurants nearby. Its a 10 minute drive to the nearest Bart station or just 3 miles to Cal Train or Hilsdale Shopping Center.

"Lots of breakfast foods."

The location is what sold us as it was close to relatives, airport and freeway. We enjoyed the breakfast and the breakfast ladies. The bed was comfortable and a strong shower. We didn't like the strong disinfectant smell in the lobby

Everything was perfect as always! Stayed at the Best Western Coyote Point, and all visits we're stellar! This is where my fiance proposed to me and it couldn't have been more perfect! My room was beautiful, clean, warm and comfortable! The breakfast was wonderful! Coffee was excellent, staff was stellar and I can't say enough about the location oh, it was very peaceful. Thank you so much Best Western Coyote Point! I would totally do it all again!

The best thing about this hotel are the staff. While I didn't have many interactions with them, any interactions were always positive. The gentleman who handled my check-in was really freindly and incredibly helpful, we accidentally booked an accessible room, which we didn't need. He kindly moved us to a more suitable room, and even provided a list of local restaurants, which lead us to try a local burger place which was amazing. Far better than my plan to SatNav to McDonalds. There was an issue with check-in, my card was incorrectly debited for the full amount, even though I had prepaid - however this was quickly rectified. While this did cause an issue because it took forever for the bank to release the block on the funds, I feel the hotel did all they could and provided me with a free night which was a nice touch. The hotel was clean, housekeeping took exceptional care of the room. The room itself was in good order, with a comfortable bed, good selection of TV stations and an adequate supply of coffee, which is really all you need :) One grumble is that the plumbing could be noisy. Sometimes making a really loud noise at night, which would only go away when you flushed the loo - unfortunately the hotel looked into this and couldn't find an issue, so it's likely the plumbing just didn't like me. The room rate included breakfast which was always well stocked, however there wasn't a massive selection of hot food so it did become a little repetitive, although that's not really a problem for only a short visit. We stayed here because it's better value than staying in San Francisco, and found it to be a good choice. It's much quieter, and the good location of the hotel made the commute easy (well apart from the morning traffic). If I'm ever visiting San Francisco again I would happily stay here again.

"Convenient near SFO"

4
User 12/01/2019

Arriving at SFO in peakhour after a long haul flight, we did not want to drive for hours for our first night. This hotel is a 15-minutes drive away (south), and is a good BW-hotel. We had a BW reward stay and were upgraded to a king suite, nice room, partly modernised, good wifi and amenities. No restaturants or shops in the area. Breakfast was fine, good variety, eggs, omelets, bacon and hamburgers (if you like that in the morning). If the price is right, Coyote Point Inn is a good choice.

"Great value in Bay Area"

3
Janet S, Fresno, California, United States 06/01/2019

Was able to get a King room here for $107 per night w/free breakfast and parking. There are 4 unsightly storage containers in the outdoor parking lot taking up about 8 parking spaces, but there is plenty of underground parking available. Though it is right next to Freesay 101, the traffic noise isn't too bad.

GTB-SFO, San Mateo, California 06/11/2018

Stayed here on a Monday night, cost with tax $151. Upon checking in, Ed, at the front desk warmly welcomed me and remembered that I had been there about 5 months ago! There is a small workout area and a small jacuzzi available. The comp breakfast is nice with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, and prepackaged breakfast burritos for hot choices (no potatoes). Cold cereal, pastries, large bagels, various yogurts, etc are also available. Plenty to choose from for a filling breakfast that begins at 6:00. There is one restaurant within walking distance and that is in the Holiday Inn, approximately a 3 minute walk down the street. I have always enjoyed my stays at this Best Western and try to stay here whenever I visit the area.

One of the best hotels during our California road trip. Big room, big bathroom. Very nice and helpful front desk staff. The outdoor jacuzzi was very pleasant after a 12 hours long flight (plus 1,5 hour until we got our luggages). Just some minutes from SFO, but not noisy. Good breakfast.

Check in was smooth and efficient. In addition, the gentleman working was very friendly and gave us some great dinner recommendations. We had a nice spacious room on the first floor complete with a microwave and refrigerator. I thought we might encounter some noise being on that floor but it was not the case. It was quiet as could be all night! They offered a nice breakfast the next morning with just about anything you could want. I would definitely stay here again!

I can't believe the housekeeping staff did not see socks hanging from the lamp. I can understand the toilet not flushing in the middle of the night, but the socks made me wonder if they actually changed the sheets on the bed.

Candy W, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review
Hello, We are very sorry to hear that you had this experience. Our room was cleaned, the housekeeper simply forgot to take the items out of the room before she left, as she wasn't sure if the items were going into lost and found or the garbage. When you let us know, we did give you credit for a free room night at the Best Western of your choice, to show that we understand why this would have been a bit unsettling. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention while you were a guest in our hotel, and on TripAdvisor. Warm regards, Best Western Coyote Point Inn

"Friendly and efficient front desk staff"

Maccs, Brisbane 04/10/2018

My wife and I were travelling from Australia and decided to stay at this hotel. From the time we booked in until we checked out, I found the staff very efficient and friendly. We stayed for 3 days. We were on a driving holiday and arrived at the hotel before check in time. The lady at reception was obliging and allowed us to check in early. On checking into the room we noticed that the safe was not working. I was advised that they did not use the safes in the rooms anymore, and offered to store my valuables at the front office. I used this service, and was more than happy with it. The items were returned at the end of our stay with no fuss. The hotel has not got a lot of restaurants nearby, so you have to drive to San Mateo or Burlingame, where there was an abundance of restaurants and supermarkets. The hotel was located only 8 mins drive from Burlingame Station. If you wanted to go into San Francisco for some sightseeing it was an easy commute, and the train system was clean and efficient. Also near to the hotel is a recreational area which was good for exercise and watching planes landing at San Francisco Airport. The housemaids were efficient. On departure the staff at reception were once again very helpful. They allowed us to check out at 1:00pm, which was of benefit to us, as we had an afternoon flight, and it saved us waiting at the airport for hours. The breakfast was ample and staff kept topping up the food regularly. I thought the variety of the food was great and there was plenty of it. Overall, a very friendly hotel. I you have a car everything is convenient located. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for one night for a quick visit in San Francisco. Hotel is close to downtown San Mateo and restaurants. The check-in was easy and quick. The front desk personal are super friendly and helpful. We had a room with double queens and it was spacious as well as clean. I can honestly say that the beds were comfortable and I was able to get a good night rest. There is plenty of parking. They provide you with free breakfast in the morning that consists of waffles, eggs, breads, yogurt, coffee and juices. There is also some fruit to grab on the go. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here with my wife, son (toddler) & our family. We were visiting San Fran for a few days. It was literally a 1O min drive from the airport which was perfect after getting in at 2:30am from the east coast. This hotel was so clean the staff worked so hard to keep every inch of the hotel clean. The breakfast that was included offered a variety of choices. I would stay here again!

This is my home away from home when I travel to the area for business. Close to the airport, close to area companies. Large, clean rooms with solid wi-fi, comfortable beds, and fridge/microwave for longer trips. The hotel provides a nice simple breakfast, and always has water/coffee available in the lobby. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and I've never had a bad stay here. Self-serve laundry, small gym, and close to area restaurants too.

We stayed here for 4 nights to visit the San Francisco area. Hotel is in a good location in San Mateo which is a nice are and close to the airport. Restaurants are a five minute drive away with a supermarket. Hotel rooms are nice and clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfast is excellent- lots of choice including both hot and cold. BART station into SF is about 10 minutes away and it takes about 30 mins to the main tourist area. Would definitely recommend this hotel as a well priced hotel for visiting SF.

T3146LMthomasm, Bellevue, Washington 19/07/2018

Room was clean, very roomy. I have stayed in hotels in New York that were smaller than the bathroom. Bed was comfortable, and super easy to get to the room. Prices were reasonable compared to other hotels. Definitely a step down from your Crown Plaza, but a huge step up from the Motel 6, Days Inn crowd, and a little upgrade from your usual Holiday Inn. There is no room service or anything, just a vending machine with coke, red bull, cup o' noodles and candy bars pretty much. But there are plenty of delivery places. This is a great place for the casual traveler who needs a night or two, or more, although there really isn't anything to 'do' around this area. Staff was friendly, and there was a generally well cared for breakfast area (included) that had the usual juices, eggs, coffee, bread, and even a couple GF options. Internet was free, but a little slower than most hotels I stay at. Tip: If you are staying for business, and use a 3rd party for booking, like Expedia, Best Western is actually unable to provide you with an itemized receipt. A bit inconvenient, but not too big of a deal. Just make sure you can get an itemized receipt from your 3rd party ahead of time. Overall, a great stay at a clean budget hotel that obviously cares.

A very nice, clean and secure hotel in San Mateo. Just 25 miles south of San Francisco and very close to the airport. Rooms are clean, spacious with very comfortable beds and pillows. "Stopover following late arrival "

4
User 24/06/2018

Chose this hotel to stay over at before collecting a rental car the next day. Sadly San Fran doesn't have the excellent hotel buses that Denver does, so a taxi from the airport was $30 One way and $40 the other. Probably should have tried Uber or Flyte. Check in was seemlessdespite the late arruval. Staff exceptionally helpful. Rooms were large and well equipped. Standard fare coffee machines and fridges. Beds very comfy. Breakfast was a good variety and good quality. Bugger style so help yourself to as much as you need. Checkout was easy, all staff excelled. Would happily use again apart from the taxi cost to and from the airport.

BRCruiser, Canada 10/06/2018

We stayed at the hotel for 6 days starting on a Saturday. The hotel is right near the airport which was convenient. It is also near lots of good restaurants but not within walking distance. It was fairly close to getting into San Francisco. The room was very nice however, the towels varied from day to day. One day they were nice and soft and the next they were like sandpaper. There were two days that we came back to our room just to regroup before we went out again at 3:30 in the afternoon and our room was not made up yet and you feel riushed because they are wanting to do your room right away. Obviously more cleaning staff is needed to get the cleaning done earlier in the day. The breakfast was good except that the person who looks after the food inventory should be making sure that something like syrup for the waffles is always in stock. On Thusday they ran out of syrup after I had made my waffle and had to throw it out. I was told to put honey and butter on it. Really????? They also ran out of various other things like regular yogurt as well as various fruit because their order was coming that day. I like to have a cup of tea in the evening and they have hot water as well as coffee available all the time however, the first night I went to get hot water the water in the carafe was cold so when I went the front desk clerk she said she would get more. I went down 15 minutes later and it was still not hot. She told me the machine was broken and I should just take the water up to my room and microwave it. She lied to me. The next night the same thing happened but there was a different clerk and he showed me where there was a hot water tap and that I could go there and get hot water any time I wanted. I didn't have that problem again because the evening clerk from that point made sure that the carafe had hot water in it. That clerk was always so pleasant and we had nice chats about the things that we had done all day. He was also very knowledgeable about the area and had some good information.

Amazing place, great value for money. Even though it is located very close to SFO airport, the surrounding area is very quiet. Morning breakfast is very good too. Rooms, are big and comfortable, and for the price you pay, you get much more than you expect. Staff was very courteous and polite. Even though we checked in at 3 AM, they had already kept a room aside for us. No complaints with the place, would definitely recommend it .

"Great location and Customer Service"

SophieTrophy, Northants 31/05/2018

The Coyote Point Inn is in an excellent location for touring the San Francisco Bay Area. Just off the 101, a few minutes from the centre of San Mateo and a 5 minute drive to San Francisco Airport. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. There is also a laundry room, gym, sauna and hot tub available. A complimentary breakfast is provided, which is a good start to the day. I note that someone complained about the scrambled egg in a recent review, well my wife loved it. My only complaint is that no bread is supplied, despite there being a toaster present. Not a major problem, as there is a small supermarket and a Safeway nearby, so we supplied our own bread for making toast each morning. A special mention to Ed at Reception. He always greeted us by name and met us with a friendly smile. Nothing was too much trouble and he was always happy to offer advice and assistance whenever required. Ed is a huge asset to the Coyote Point Inn and his wonderful Customer Service means that I have rated the Coyote Point Inn as 'Excellent' despite the lack of bread at breakfast time. :-).

"Six of one, half a dozen of the other"

shopper332, Westminster, California 08/05/2018

I like Best Western. The young man who checked us in was terrific - very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. San Mateo has so many restaurants and he was able to recommend several and draw us a map. My room was a disappointment. It was a spacious and very comfortable room, but the view was bleak and the hot tub below appeared to be covered in green algae - not at all welcoming. I had traveled far, had a wonderful dinner and went straight to bed and fell asleep. I awoke after about an hour feeling nauseous - there was a very heavy scent on the pillows - they reeked of body spray. I threw the pillows across the room, washed my face and went back to bed. Breakfast was a bit disappointing too. The scrambled eggs tasted like powdered eggs and no amount of ketchup could disguise or improve the taste. I still gave them 4 stars because my previous experiences with BW have been positive and I think this experience was an aberration. Great and economical location for San Francisco.

"BUSINESS COMFORT"

5
User 30/04/2018

The overall stay was very good to excellent. Traffic noise was a little loud. After a day of cold calling on Dr's offices the comfort of the bed more than made the noise just back ground noise. With an occasional loud car or motorcycle. Access from the freeway was a little tricky at first but okay on the second attempt. The staff were friendly and courteous. I will consider staying her in the future.

This Best Western is the best place to stay. The golf course and coyote point park across the street and only a half hour to Stanford. Close to restaurants, shopping and events. Spent all Saturday at Coyote Point Park walking the trails, watching the boats in the bay, kids fishing and even spotted a raccoon!

Room is ok. However extremely terrible service of the front desk and customer service, not friendly, not helpful, not professional at all. The front desk looks like we bother her a lot when we checked in and rejected our request (e.g. borrowing two cups glasses) very unfriendly. There were other disappointing examples. It's the worst best western I've ever stayed.

"Excellent hotel"

The Best Western Coyote Point is in a very nice neighborhood located next to a golf course and close to parks. The hotel is in great condition and very welcoming! The rooms are very nice sized and the beds and linens are very comfortable. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is pretty good. I was there for a short business trip and did not get an opportunity to use the Fitness Center, sauna or pool, but they all looked to be well maintained! The only con is that you do need a car or will need to take Lyft, Uber or Taxi to go anywhere.

TheEnd2013, Hancock, Maine 11/04/2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The bed was the best nights sleep I've experienced in a long time! Close to places we wanted to visit during our stay. Included breakfast is a bonus. Room was refreshed each day of our stay.

The hotel is perfectly located for such a variety of things to do, places to dine, golfing next door, SF & SFO airport. The owner, Dan Karki, is very experienced and intuitive selecting his wonderful friendly staff and making sure his BW Hotel is running smoothly all around.

"Quite nice."

Good location and the closest to family that lives in the area. Easy to find downtown area and getting there is easy. We drove downtown and the weather was nice enough to walk around. The garage parking is easy to use without extra fees.

"Nicer Inside than Out"

3
Northcoast_Flyer, Belmont, CA 26/03/2018

We stayed one night on our way home from a trip. Our room on the 4th floor was clean, quiet and comfortable. The Internet and television worked well and breakfast was nicely presented standard BW fare. We found the location on the freeway frontage road off putting and the underground parking poorly marked, poorly lit and a bit scary. Given the choices and prices this close to SFO, we might stay here again, but it's much nicer inside than out.

excellent. Comfortable bed-wanted to take it home. Thermostat needed to be reset and was done immediately. Superior Staff and wonderful breakfast. Trip to Veterans hospital was made good by staying here. Would recommend to everyone. Have to come back in April for surgery at VA hospital but since we are seniors we cannot afford the rates in April or we would definately stay again.

Janet80262, Boone, Colorado 24/03/2018

Felt safe, clean. Friendly & helpful staff. Bed was great & got a good night's sleep. No noise. Lobby could have been better stocked at check-in. No coffee or hot water for tea in the air-pots. Should always have refreshments available for guests. Outside hot-tub was filthy and not useable. You pay for ALL the amenities and they should be in top condition. Upon check out one elevator was out of order. This property just needs some attention before things get too rundown. Close to San Fran airport & this was my main concern.

"Clean hotel with older furnishings"

5
Bobby R, Nashville, Tennessee 19/03/2018

We were in the area for a college visit and found this hotel very convenient to both the airport and the university. It was located in a nice family neighborhood (as opposed to a touristy or commercial area) and was convenient to the airport. The furnishings are older but everything was clean and well kept. The breakfast was fairly standard but nice (eggs, bacon and sausage, waffles, etc.). Ample free parking was available under the hotel (which was nice when it was cool and raining) and the wifi was free and worked well. The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating. We did not take advantage of many of the other amenities ... mainly using the hotel for sleeping and breakfast.

"Convenience and free breakfast/parking"

marion93722, Fresno, California 15/03/2018

I wasn't too excited coming in but for the location it was on the money for the purpose of our trip. The kids were able to hang at the lounge /breakfast area. The breakfast was worth it. Very close to the freeway with golf course nearby. The hotel is clean. Parking is also a plus without fee.

I'm a fan of BW now and especially in Bay area where hotels are so expensive. BW offers room equivalent to any of the Marriott or Hilton brands, parking is free and experience is just no nonsense. Highly recommend this BW and BW in general.

I won't stay anywhere else anymore, I had trouble with another hotel, and contacted Best Western they were very accommodating, and got us in. The girl at the desk even called a different BW because she didn't have any availability. That was great service

Very clean, dusty couch, but mostly very clean. Very nice bed and pillows, windows that open! Also there's no flees because animals aren't accepted. Nice for a change! Just for that reason I'll stay there again. Breakfast awful, just like a 2 star hotel.

leannky, Lexington, Kentucky 02/02/2018

My sister and I stayed at the Best Western Coyote Point Inn in January 2018. I have to say all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I wasn't so impressed by the free breakfast especially trying to make a simple piece of toast which never toasted. The one morning my sister and I went down for the free breakfast, the eating area was freezing so we didn't linger. The hotel was very clean but I found it interesting that some of the room numbers and signs were on the floor instead of hanging on the door. Overall it was a very nice hotel, and was easy to find. I would stay there again if I visit San Mateo. LeAnn Lexington, KY

"Very Comfortable Bed and Nice Breakfast!"

Julie M, Sacramento, California 06/01/2018

We stay here for work ALL THE TIME! it's a nice, clean comfortable hotel and great for not spending too much money on a hotel if you're going to be traveling around a lot and not at the hotel! It is next to the freeway (101) so it can be loud, but they do have black out curtains! The rooms are a nice size and seriously, the beds here have been more comfortable than beds at the Fairmont! You're very close to cute little downtown San Mateo with some wonderful restaurants (which I have reviewed as well if you need somewhere to eat!) and great shops and salons as well as my yoga studio of choice (Core Power). Laundry is free (2 washers and 1 dryer, and there is a gym, small, but it's better than nothing! If you're curious about why I have so many 'Not Sure' items checked off it's because we're here so much we don't need those things so I have not idea! And please keep in mind when I say this is an "Excellent Value" where it is and what the cost of hotels offering the same services are costing...it is the Bay Area and you are VERY close to SFO!

Dan K, General Manager at Best Western Coyote Point Inn, responded to this review

Paul H, Jacksonville, Texas 30/12/2017

Visited San Francisco for the Christmas Holidays with Son and Granddaughter. Stayed at the Best Western in San Mateo which was colse to the SFO airport. Picked the BW because of the proximity to the airport. The hotel was close to the highway, which was easy on and off. The BW provided free parking, free breakfast, and free WI-FI. The freebees was the reason I selected the BW. The room 408 was large, close to the elevator and quiet. The bedding was exceptional, we a a very good nights sleep.

"Amazing staff"

437darylb, Renton, Washington 19/12/2017

We were in town to see family and I brought my two service dogs in training! Everyone went out of there way to make sure we were okay (as I visibly was physically struggling) Anyone bringing a service dog should know that this is a wonderful place to stay, that in a mile and a half you have seal point dog park and trails to allow break from work! Close to the highway (we did not hear the traffic at all) and the price is very reasonable. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and the bed was great! We will for sure be there again!

The hotel was in a rundown area....the safe was broken and we couldn't use it for the entire stay...the coffee was unacceptable...the breakfast was ok...not much choice. The hotel was quiet and reasonably clean....we had to drive to get to a restaurant. The front desk was very helpful.

"Decent place"

125inezf, Salinas, California 18/12/2017

Parking sucked but at least there was an underground garage available. The front desk staff were not helpful at all though. I was ignored by staff at check in. Trying to get details on where to park or how to get to my room was like pulling teeth.

"Profoundly disappointed"

1
User 16/12/2017

Hotel staff was superb. Most gracious and lovely. My room, however, was uninhabitable due to chemicals someone had used in there. With only 2 steps into my room, I was getting a sinus headache due to the overpowering chemical scent which then almost immediately morphed into what turned out to be 36 hours of mid-level migraine. I knew there was no way I could spend my planned 2 nights, there; my entire stay was only 48 hours. Pretty profound impact, here. Additionally, the 2 friends with me experienced the same. Since the hotel was booked solid, I couldn't be moved to another room and had to, at 10:00 p.m., find alternative lodgings. Not what I expected from Best Western, in the slightest. You blew it.

Summary: A comfortable hotel in San Mateo which is only five minute drive from downtown San Mateo. Good value and comfortable. Will stay here the next time in San Mateo. Location: On coyote point. 5 minute drive to downtown San Mateo (7-8 dollar Uber). Parking: Free. Both covered and uncovered. Room: Comfortable, but not luxurious by any means. There was a couch in our room. The room is as you would expect from Best Western. Sleep: Mattress was comfortable. Room was quite. We asked for a high room away from the highway. Front Desk/ Check In: Very nice people and very helpful. Bathroom: Average size. Clean. Products were not so good -- we went out to buy our own shampoo. Breakfast: Free. Nice spread. Coffee was mediocre. Wifi: Free and fast.

"Excellent Hotel & a Good Value for the Area"

5
GTB-SFO, San Mateo, California 29/11/2017

I stayed at the BW Coyote Point two nights 11/28&29/17. Room rate was $110 a night (with the AAA discount) and with taxes came to $246.22 total for two nights. A very competitive rate for the area, particularly considering the quality of this Best Western. The room and bath were very clean with a carpet in the room that also appeared clean. The rooms are very quiet with good insulation from above and next door. The room had a king bed, couch with pull-out bed, desk & chair. All lamps had plug-ins for your phones, tablets, etc.. The king bed and pillows were very comfortable, the towels were normal size and thick. Plenty of hot water and water pressure. There is a fridge with freezer, micro & coffeemaker in the room. WiFi worked well while I was there. Large flat panel tv that can be rotated to face the couch or bed area. A free breakfast is provided including cheese omelettes, bacon, sausage patties (no potatoes), waffles, as well as apples, yogurt, toast, bagels, cold cereals, coffee, oj, milk, etc.. - a very nice complimentary breakfast. Be aware that there are no restaurants close to this hotel and you will have to drive or order delivery for dinner. This is a very nice and upscale Best Western and I definitely recommend it.

"3 NIGHTS AT BEST WESTERN COYOTE POINT INN, SAN MATEO, CA, USA"

3
NFLDTOWNIE, ST. JOHN'S 20/11/2017

This Best Western hotel was selected by us for its location, about half way between SFO and Foster City where we have family. It offers a quite good, included, hot and cold breakfast. Not that we would have had used it during this stay, but the hotel lacks a pool which would have been an attraction for us during a warmer time of the year. Another issue which we would have to consider for a return visit is the hotel's surroundings. We like to walk but the streets in the area were not really attractive for this activity. And finally, the hotel does not offer a free shuttle to/from the airport. Overall, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful and our room was up to expectations.

"Good deal, with caveats "

les5219, Silverthorne, Colorado 06/11/2017

Clean, comfortable hotel. Convenient to SFO and the city, and easy to find. Reasonably priced for the SF area. We stayed for a long weekend, and the weekend price was much lower than weekdays. Even the water pressure was good! My only negative comment is, we looked forward to a good breakfast (highly recommended by a friend who lives nearby). But each morning they ran out of most food items long before breakfast was over, and by the time we got downstairs all that was left was toast and cold cereal. That's not a big complaint, but it's easily fixable. Still, I would rate this hotel as a good value.

My favorite hotel to stay at when I am in San Francisco! The beds are super comfy, the breakfasts generous and the staff is fantastic! It's a location where you stay about 25 minutes outside of the city and it's quiet, clean, comfy and excellent rates! Highly recommend if you don't mind driving or unerring into the city! San Mateo is a nice town and the area seems quite safe!

The Best Western Coyote Point Inn is absolutely the friendliest, clean & close to everything. We continue to use this hotel every time we visit San Mateo County. The staff; Ariel, Maritza, Edmond & more are extremely considerate, professional & friendly. Breakfast & housekeeping is great, too. A very well managed hotel by Mr. Karki!

We give a huge shout out to Edwin at the front desk for making us feel at home before we even arrived. Having a horrible experience at another hotel we had to find somewhere else for the remainder of our stay, This hotel and chain truly know how to make travelers feel at home. It also turned out to be less expensive than the dump (Vagabond) we originally had.Thank you Edwin and the rest of the stay for doing it right.

"Moldy bath mat."

2
Ben R, Sacramento 12/10/2017

We stayed one night here following a medical appointment in San Francisco. My wife nearly fell in the bathroom as a result of a very slippery floor. There was a bathmat in the tub that she attempted to put on the slippery part of the floor but the bottom of the mat was covered with black mold. Two housekeepers were talking in the hallway so she showed them the slippery floor and the mold on the mat. They were unable to do anything about the floor and they said that maintenance would have to be contacted by us in the morning to replace the mat. As we were only staying one night, that would not work for us. We asked if they had a clean mat that we could have for the night we were there and they said that they didn't. We would not have been comfortable taking a shower in that tub.

"Worth The Search"

JonnysPapa, Carson City, Nevada 11/10/2017

We typically try to stay at a Best Western if we can, wherever we travel, because it's typically a clean and comfortable room at a competitive price. The San Mateo Coyote Point Inn (CPI) fits the bill. It's a little difficult to find (and exit), even if you think you know how to get there. It's signage is also not particularly well lighted at night. I highly recommend a voice directed GPS system if you have it. We regularly travel to the Palo Alto area, where room costs are absurd, no matter the quality. So we've stayed at BW everywhere from Gilroy to Santa Cruz to save the cost of a nice dinner out each night while visiting other areas. The CPI is reasonable priced, probably because of its out-of-the-way location. The CPI is immediately adjacent to the Hwy. 101 freeway, and I was concerned about noise. However, they've done a nice job of soundproofing and noise wasn't a problem. Just to be safe though, I'd suggest a room as far from the freeway as is available. The CPI is clean, reasonably new, and well maintained. The room was clean and comfortable, and even had a couple of HBO channels included with regular programming. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was standard fare but offered everything you might want to get you on your way.

"Dated and not many facilities "

3
stfn62, Glasgow, United Kingdom 08/10/2017

I stayed here for one night on a business trip last November. The hotel was a bit basic and dated. There was no restaurant to speak off, breakfast was basic and a bit of a 'bun fight'. The room itself was small and looking tired, the bathroom was old and not very clean, carpets were faded and aged. The location is not great and there isn't much around if you want a few things from a shop. I had a decent sleep, bed was comfy but a bit too soft for me

"Decent cheap option, breakfast basic"

4
RichBarber, London 04/10/2017

Room is excellent, Staff helpful. It's clean, easy to find and park. Breakfast is a bit basic, air conditioning in the room is a little noisy, the shower could do with a bit more pressure, and don't even bother with the "spa". But, it's cheap, simple and convenient for the 101.

"A Bargain for a Pricey Area"

5
User 17/09/2017

One of the nicest Best Western's we've stayed at. The location is just off of a major highway(Without the traffic noise!). It is close to SFO airport and of course San Francisco. You can drive 5 minutes from the hotel to catch the BART that will take you to and from San Francisco for about $20.00 round trip( the headaches and cost of parking make it a bargain). The rooms were nice sized , clean , and comfortable. The facility has an outdoor spa and indoor gym and sauna. Th breakfast is one of the better ones as Best Western's fares go. You will be able to satisfy the kids and most adults ( exceptions being the gourmands). The desk help was quite efficient. ( Calling out for pizza ? -Try Senomes- 30 minute local delivery. About $22.00 for a superb vegetarian pizza. Don't forget to go to Scoma's off the boat dock at the end of that long strip called Pier 39. It's been around since 1965 . Serves the freshest and most well prepared seafood around. Prices between 24 and 40 dollars.dollars.Nice house wines as well. Yes , you can splurge on dinner when the hotel runs between 135- 175 without the ad on room on city taxes. This is a bargain for the "Bay Area" so close to San Francisco.

"Pleasant, clean, comfortable"

4
User 14/09/2017

We had a pleasant stay during out holiday visit to San Francisco. Hotel was clean, beds comfortable, commute to SF downtown area by car was easy (25min). San Mateo offers plenty of shopping and dining possibilities. Very close to airport and highway, but no noise problem at all. Fitness center is ok (small but good), breakfast is ok (compared to other U.S. hotels in this quality and price range, actually quite good breakfast). We returned to same hotel again and would also do so again. Our room rates were a bit on the high side, but this seems to be the case for all hotels in the SF area.

"Adequate but nothing special"

3
David B, South Royalton, Vermont 13/09/2017

At over $250 a night for a king bed, it still might be cheaper than anything else around. Clean and quiet if you are away from The highway. Our 3 nights were pleasant enough. The free breakfast included eggs, bacon, sausage and waffles.

"Nice place, but won't stay here again"

4
A7418HDsarahh, Santa Rosa, California 12/09/2017

The website advertised that there is a pool. There is a sauna and a hot tub only. When we stay at hotels we always go to the pool so this was very disappointing. Also we stayed during a warm weekend. The hotel hallways were at least 90 degrees which was uncomfortable. The lobby and dinning area was also uncomfortably warm too, at least 80 degrees. We could not eat as a family (there were 8 of us renting 3 rooms total.). We had to go to our separate rooms with AC to eat breakfast. Rooms were comfortable and beds very nice to sleep in. Hotel kept clean, nice front office staff.

Jase D, Perth, Australia 12/09/2017

I didn't actually stay here but when my partner and I popped in to see if they had any available rooms for our last 2 nights in the Bay area the concierge was extremely pleasant and helpful. They were totally booked out due to an Oracle Conference but he was very helpful in allowing us to use the hotel wi-fi and foyer area to search online for available accommodation. From what I saw of the place, it was very clean, very tidy and the staff were super friendly.

"Clean and pricey with exemplary service!"

4
Dave L, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada 07/09/2017

Stayed here three nights with the family. Travelling from Canada so with a horrific exchange rate and San Francisco being expensive as it is, the cost per night was pretty high. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was consistent with other BWs but noticed it was the same menu every day. Other places (i.e. Hamptons) change it up a bit but not a huge deal. What made this stay special was the exemplary service provided by the front desk clerk (Ed). He went out of the way with suggestions and tips to make our visit interesting and fun. I made a point of asking for his name before we left so as to name him in this review. Great job Ed!

"STAFF IS A JOKE"

2
User 02/09/2017

No complaints about the hotel. However, the staff is horrendous. We were treated so horribly, at one point I asked if we were being punked. There was some mix up with our room check in/switching rooms. We were treated like criminals and were told to leave the hotel or they would call the police. We were shocked and have never been talked to or treated this way by any hotel employee or staff and we have stayed many places over the years. All I could chalk it up to is that they cant be bothered to hire older, experienced, patient and friendly people to work the hotel front reservations desk. Instead they have young, surly, lazy and immature kids who obviously dont give a damn about their job or their pride. Pathetic, really because the hotel itself is not bad for the price.

Conveniently located on a side road to Hwy 101 and 7 miles south of SFO (San Francisco Airport), this hotel is a centrally located for visiting either San Francisco or Silicon Valley/San Jose/Stanford University areas. Doesn't require a great deal of street driving to access coming or going. The hotel was up-to-date in its amenities and decor. It was kept cleaner than average in all the common areas and in the room in which we stayed. The [free] breakfast provided a number of different choices to the traveler. The only issue that I really had was the pre-packaged danishes offered. At other BWs, these were of better quality and not packaged. Only on Sunday morning, did I see a few fresh donuts laid out. The hotel indicated it provided free newspapers in the lobby, but the two papers provided were for local news only. No USA Today or San Francisco Chronicle... even on Sunday. The mattress was quite comfortable and the room contained a mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. There appeared to be two wrapped comforters/blankets on the closet's upper shelf. Each bed had 4 pillows, of differing materials. The bathroom was large and the shower head was great. The only issue noted here was a lack of a fan. There just wasn't one provided. The room size helped dissipate the moisture a bit, but not enough to go without one. The closet was double in size than typical and contained several hangers. It also contained a small safe. For the area (San Francisco and Silicon Valley) AND for the fact that our stay encompassed both week nights and weekends and it was still Summer Vacation, I felt we received good value for the price... five nights averaged $199 per night including taxes and fees. There were a few issues encountered: >> The toilet seat lid was half broken, which I pointed out and the entire seat replaced by that evening. >> The room-darkening curtain gapped a bit in the middle as is typical, however, the left side was gaping at the top (off its track or broken?). This was reported but left unrepaired. >> The air conditioner was not on when I initially arrived. When I pushed the button to start a "wrench" icon blinked and no cool air was being released. I called the Front Desk and the Attendant came to my room to reset the digitally-based control. She indicated this was fairly common in its occurrence. Three nights later the wrench popped up again. A call to the Attendant resulted in another visit to our room to "fix" the error. This person (different from the 1st) showed us how to "fix" the problem ourselves if it happened again. It did and we "fixed" it. The air conditioner does work VERY well, so no complaints other than the nuisance of these two calls. >> The second night of our stay, the fire alarm went off twice, hotel-wide. The first time at 2:30 a.m. and a second time at about 3:30 a.m. We were alarmed at the lack of concern the fire department showed the issue. Apparently, the alarm was being triggered by the same room which was unoccupied for the night. They didn't know why but mostly left it to the hotel front desk personnel to dispense this information. No compensation was made by the hotel to the guests that I know of.

This is a great hotel for a stop over after a long flight to San Francisco. Receptionist was really friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. They also offered a complimentary breakfast during our stay, which was fine and set us up for our journey ahead. A much more economical option than San Francisco, if you simply looking for somewhere to stay after a long flight. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Our BEST WESTERN was in Selma, Calif., just 5 miles south of Fresno. It was ideally located between Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park , our destinations. The staff was wonderful and helpful and remembered our names. My wife is handicapped and they were very helpful in getting us a handicapped room with walk in shower.they provided ino on local cuisine and points of interest. we stayed for five nights and it was a very good experience..

We stayed here for a weekend trip to San Francisco. It was a little far outside the city (took us about 25 mins to downtown), but was worth it for the price! Free Parking, Free Breakfast, and nice room. Not sure what they did to the walls, but we had a room overlooking the freeway and never heard a peep - no airplanes (when it is right near the airport), not cars (even though the freeway was right next to it), and no other people (even though it was booked solid). Only downside was that the free WIFI did not work AT ALL and I couldn't even get a phone signal in the room. Guess all the insulation comes at a price :-) Breakfast was also just ok - hot waffle machine, cheese omlets, bacon and sausage. The pastries were pre-packaged Costco (donuts or something a little less packaged would have been nice) and no rotation as far as I could tell (exact same offerings for the 3 mornings we were there.) We didn't get a chance to try out the hot tub (no pool), fitness room, or sauna but we looked in on them and they seemed ok.

This location is great when your in the San Mateo area, and want to be near the airport. The hotel has a gym, continental breakfast, and very friendly staff. You would be about 5 miles from the SF airport in case you need the distance. It's not in the best neighborhood but it's the hotel has plenty of parking You can park on the street level by the door or in the indoor lot.

We were there for only 1 night for a funeral, but the location was perfect. I was a little concerned upon arrival with it being right off the freeway, but the noise was not an issue at all. Rooms are very nice, clean and beds comfortable. Nice continental breakfast. Only recommendation would be to include magnifying make-up mirrors. I used to bring my own but in all my very recent travels all places have had them and I didn't bring one on this trip and they didn't :(.... That was the only thing I missed.

Nice location located south of San Francisco, just south of the Airport along the 101. Even though in a busy traffic area it is a very quiet place. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good, although redundant with egg omelettes. Good location to do many things in the bay area.

"Comfortable for a night"

5
grapeeape, Vienna, Virginia 20/07/2017

We needed a hotel near the airport before heading into San Francisco for the rest of our trip. This place was comfortable and just what we needed. The outside parking spaces were small but the garage below the hotel had ample room. We didn't take advantage of the continental breakfast but a lot folks seemed to use it. Good enough for a night without crushing the wallet. The pillows are thick. We didn't hear neighbors, our room was quiet.

Lisl B, Chandler, United States 12/07/2017

We stayed here for two nights mid-week. It's very central located, beautiful hotel. Breakfast was great and very filling. We loved the fact that it was so close to Coyote Point - our kids ask daily to go back to that playground! The staff was friendly, room very clean and spacious. The only thing I wish they had was a pool. Our kids were too young for the hot tub. I requested a ground floor room and early check-in, and we got both. Will definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our stay very much. We ended up staying an extra day, and the staff made every effort to accommodate us. The hotel was clean, the rooms were comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The hotel was quiet, and south of SF. Perfect for not fighting for parking or paying top dollar by staying in the city. It fit our budget and was freeway close. San Mateo offered several places to dine as well. Thank you BW!

We used this as a stop while doing the 101 PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) Seattle to San Diego abc I think it's average on lots of areas. As we've done San Fran before we were just looking for a place to stay on our way down the coast as we'd drove from Eureka so this spot seemed perfect. The location is great to get on and off the freeway. The reception staff were very nice but for me that's where it stood. - The rooms are big but very tired and not modernised. - The Breakfast is an absolutely joke with not enough tables / chairs for about 90% of the people staying there we ended up taking it back to our room. The variety is poor and the staff on that are chasing there tail. - The gym is average. - The price for what you get is scandalous l think. All in this hotel is OK but personally this is San Fran you'll get much nicer else where. Not a good Best western for me.

User 06/07/2017

Everyone was so kind and welcoming at Best Western Coyote Point Inn. It's difficult to find great customer service these days, but I felt deeply respected by all the staff. The location is in a quite area, and the breakfast had many good options. I was surprised and relieved that they even had Soymilk for a breakfast option, for those who can't have dairy products. I think the prices are resonable for the outstanding service they have. The train station is not too far away by car(Uber, taxi) if you need to travel to San Francisco, but walking to the station will be challenging. Downtown San Mateo is close also for shopping and eating at a selection of restaurants. I definately will be coming back to this hotel.

Overall nice hotel. Rooms clean and comfortable. Good breakfast with different foods and enough space to find free table. No restaurant for evening meal but we took something always from nearby take aways. Naturally you need a car. Nice underground car park which was also free. jamesons_drinker, London, United Kingdom 17/06/2017

We visited relatives in San Mateo in May/June this year and stayed at the Best Western Coyote Point Inn. A quick summary of the good points: Staff are friendly. Room was clean and reasonably large with comfortable beds. Heating / cooling unit worked well and the window could be partially opened. Gym was fairly well equipped and everything worked. Breakfast was included in the room price and there was a good selection of hot and cold food and drinks, all frequently replenished. And now the negative points: There appears to be an ongoing problem with the room safes. These do not work but passports etc can be left at reception for safe keeping. Walls are thin and we could sometimes hear the occupants either side. Bathroom fittings are dated and noisy but all worked well. To conclude: If I were to re-visit the Bay area, I would certainly consider staying at this hotel again.

We stayed here for three nights and it was great. Safe location with ample parking. There is an underground parking area as well. Rooms were in great condition and the beds were very comfortable. Amazing location and staff, very close to San Francisco. Clean, friendly, and breakfast included. Every night, we enjoyed the fitness center and the sauna when coming back from San Francisco. And if you stay here, we might want to try "Hot Wok Bistro", a family restaurant close to the hotel, where everything is made in the house, and wonderful service.

This hotel is clean, spacious and well equipped. The bed was comfortable, the room had a great TV, microwave, refrigerator and sofa. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel is conveniently located close to San Fran airport, the mall, and a variety of classy eating places. My wife and I enjoyed our stay immensely without any worries. We will definitely stay here again when in the area, even though we usually stay in four star hotels.

Basic Hotel. Not suitable for business travel. Has no laundry service and no food service outside of breakfast. There's not a lot around the hotel. You need to take a cab anywhere you want to go. My room had a bad odor (like vomit).

Seliganon, Ledbury 12/06/2017

Excellent staff, willing to go out of their way to be helpful and personally managing all tasks rather than deferring to other staff. Quiet, comfortable rooms with good bathrooms. Having an iron in the room is a useful touch for the business traveller. Nice, simple, breakfast options. The self service style can help when feeling jet-lagged, there's no need to interact with anyone if you don't feel up to conversation though the staff are very welcoming. Coffee/and tea on demand at all hours in reception and in the rooms is a nice touch.

"Nice and clean - very pleasant"

Diana B, Palmdale, California 12/06/2017

We only stayed one night, but our stay was very pleasant. Really nice receptionist. Our room was clean and we experienced no problems. Since our stay was so short, we had a limited time to check out the area. Our Receptionist suggested we ride (we were on a motorcycle) to Half Moon Bay. It was a beautiful ride and so glad we took her up on her suggestion. If we ever are in this neck of the woods again, we will book this Hotel.

"Saved by Location"

4
BOB760, Carlsbad, California 08/06/2017

truthfully, this is a very mediocre, often-crowded Best Western but is redeemed by where it is: within striking distance of San Francisco. and considering how expensive accommodations in the city can be, this place represents significant strategic value.

"Nice services and great complementary breakfast"

Room was very large and clean. Great amenities...small gym but very functional, business center, vending machines on each floor, great breakfast, lots of variety. "Ok, staff inconsistent "

3
User 22/05/2017

Our stay was fine. The gentleman who checked us in was fantastic. The female staff (2 different ones) were both rude and seemed inconvenienced by us. We requested change for the vending machine (there are no stores close by) and they couldn't make change. Then- the vending machines were out of order anyway. One guy gave us a couple of bottles of water, one of the girls charged us $1/bottle to the room, and the other wouldn't give up a bottle at all. Next time we would probably stay elsewhere- as the politeness of the staff was marginal at best, and our bathroom had something black (mouldy maybe?) above the door.

"Great location and great value"

4
Mike_Kwasniak, Ipswich, United Kingdom 22/05/2017

Only a mile or so outside the airport, and an easy drive, this hotel was perfect after a ten hour flight, and before setting off on a long drive down the coast. First class welcome at reception - thank you, Ed - warm, friendly and helpful. We'd requested a quiet room, and we're given one at the rear of the hotel on the top floor. There's no traffic noise and we can't hear any other guests, so we look forward to a good night's sleep. There are two (very comfortable) queen size beds, and the bathroom is stacked with towels. The space is adequately furnished and has everything we need. Later...... Sadly we didn't get quite the sleep we'd hoped. The rear of the hotel has a wall of trees, doubtless designed to screen the windows from the outside world, but they are too close to the building. During the night we endured high winds for a period, and the constant scraping and tapping of branches on the window and wall. Good breakfast the following morning, including gluten-free options. Bacon, Omelettes, Sausage, and a range of breads, cereals, yoghurts etc. This venue provides good service at a great price. If we drive the Big Sur again in the future, I'm sure we'd use it again, though we may ask for a room t the front of the hotel :)

"STAY AWAY - Horrible management and customer service"

1
User 17/05/2017

Stayed here for four nights in April with my elderly father and his wife while visiting family in the Bay area. WILL NOT stay here again due to pathetic customer service from the hotel manager Dan Karki. Our main complaint was that, upon check-in, the bathroom smelled like a sewer - literally. We had to keep the door shut, it was so nasty. I immediately went to the front desk staff to complain of this, and complained on four separate occasions during our stay. The two young female desk staff made little effort to correct this issue or offer another room to us, even though they accompanied me back to our room and agreed the bathroom smelled horrid, like a sewer. By night three, when we again returned to the hotel to find that the bathroom STILL smelling horrific, the same two female staff offered us a new room. Keep in mind – I was with my near-90 year-old father and his wife, so it was very inconvenient and stressful for them to move. I moved all of our things next door where the bathroom smelled perfectly fine. At checkout, I discussed the bathroom issue with a very professional and courteous front desk male staff, and I asked for compensation for the sewage smell and our inconvenience. He said he'd contact the manager, Dan Karki, and call me back later that morning, which he did – my dad and his wife are witnesses to his return (speaker) phone call. He said Dan Karki had agreed to compensation and that I'd receive a verification email of this within four days. He also said Dan would call me personally. After a week had passed, with no email or phone call from Dan, I called the hotel. They had no phone number for Dan and said I needed to email him. (No contact for the hotel manager? This makes no sense to me). I emailed Dan – the email bounced back as "no serviceable email address." I called the hotel again – they still had no contact number for Dan but said they'd call him and have him call me right away. I never heard from Dan. I started calling the hotel again, and called four days in a row. Dan was never there; the female desk staff said they “didn't know when or if he'd be in” on any of those days. At that time I called BW Customer Service and made a formal complaint. They created a file, said they'd contact Dan, and that he had two days to respond and to call me. Dan didn't call me, the female staff did - with a piddly compensation of $60. (Our total four-night stay was close to $700.00). She also stated that Dan was claiming the male staff had never called him the morning I checked out, that Dan had never agreed to compensation, and that I'd been given "incorrect information." She said the male staff would be "talked to" about this by Dan. (Sounds like Dan treats his employees as poorly as his "customers"). BW Customer Service gave me a follow up call and agreed there should be, in the least, one, if not two night's compensation for the 'sewage' smelling bathroom and inconvenience. They gave me some hotel points. They said the small compensation from Dan was inadequate and that they'd contact Dan and have him call me for sure. I still haven't heard from Dan to this date. I then researched Trip Advisor (and other travel sites) for complaints of this hotel specific to “management,” and found complaints specifically naming Dan Karki that go back before 2012. All have terrible reviews of this manager's lack of customer service and follow up with his customers. It's unclear how BW can stand behind such poor and unprofessional management. I then contacted BW Corporate Office and spoke with a wonderful representative. I told her I have worked for a large medical corporation for over 30 years, and that we'd never treat our customers (patients and families) this way. I also informed her my father and his wife, and I, have traveled around the world, and that I grew up traveling and staying in BW hotels over the years, but never with an experience like this. I told her I wanted the BW Corporate Office to know of my experience with the manager of Coyote Point Inn. She thanked me and said they'd follow up. My advice... Find another hotel... This one (and it's management) literally stink.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and toddler for one night while in the SF Bay area and was delightfully surprised by the high quality and tremendous value. The room was immaculate, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best I've had in a long time and included several vegan options, which I greatly appreciated. The location was incredibly convenient, since we were sightseeing in downtown SF during the day and headed to San Jose the following morning. I would absolutely stay here again.

"Good for the price and lication"

4
K H, Indianapolis, Indiana 01/05/2017

We spent five nights while visiting family. I expected better but am satisfied especially for the price: just under $600. If not for the affordability I would rate it only three stars. The food was nothing exceptional...below BW standards but edible. No cut fruit and packaged sweet rolls. Only coffee mate for Folger's coffee...grrrr. When crowded, a bit chaotic. Beds are A+. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Housekeeping is odd and can occur very late into the evening. We skipped one day and had to ask to have it completed the next day midafternoon (which was done immediately). Five minutes from great shops and restaurants in Burlingame. Will probably return because of price and convenience.

"Far far away..."

3
GiacomoD77, Heidelberg, Germany 01/05/2017

The location is far away from everything: airport, city center, restaurants. If you go there without a car, it's difficult to find a bus and there is a lot to walk. The place itself is ok, clean but not very protected from noise. Breakfast is ok, could be better. I would suggest only for short stop.

"ok for what it is with some minor flaws"

4
GGZOLA, NORTHRIDGE 27/04/2017

paid almost 400 bucks for 3 nights from thurs-sat for a biz conference only 2 miles away. Theres nothing cheaper unless you want some ghetto-fab rinky dink motels nearby. This best western, which I am usually a fan of the chains, needs a bit of a touch up in the rooms. Its clean and comfortable, well spaced, good toiletries, shower, Tv with hbo channels, and NO freeway noise even though very close, ample free parking, free breakfast and coffee/tea anytime, and very easy to get to the san mateo covention center, but..... walls are ULTRA-thin. I mean trojan lubricated extra thin. I heard snoring from nextdoor, its that bad. Couldnt sleep first night as a group of indian men decided to camp out every night in their room from 7 to 11pm and yap, yap, yapyapyap, goodness WTF do you talk about every night and why do you come here, to stay in your room and talk? I actually called to complain and have them move me; they called nextdoor and asked them to keep it down (im hearing all of this of course) and a man said "oh im sorry." They shut up for a while, then.... Next night they were back at it, UFB And mind you, they werent very loud its just terrible walls and lack of insulation. I think if I drill a hole to hang-up a picture frame the nail would go to the other room. Breakfast is....a BW breakfast. Mostly airline quality hot food (bad bacon, edible sausage and a terrible egg omelet with a processed cheese in the middle) but at least they have cereal and yogurt cups, and a variety of breads to toast, and a waffle maker. So whatever. Not coming here for the food anyways. The room and several need-to-be-fixed things, in order of importance: Fridge gauge/knob was completely detached, wouldnt work when I tried to put back in the hole, so everything froze solid. Couldnt turn down the temp. The safes were all out of order, I didnt have a rolex watch or fat stack of bills but still you couldnt use the safes (excuse: they are remodeling/upgrading them so all are locked.) The bathroom door had a sizeable hole in it Very loud treadmill (the belt is very tired) in the tiny fitness center (again not a priority just sayin) Cracked tile strip between the living room and bathroom area. felt like i was stepping on eggshells when I stepped over. The bathroom tub had a drip/leak, needs repair. Do-able place to stay, bringing earplugs for sure next time. Wifi was strong.

The hotel was clean, fresh, modern and the staff is wonderful. It was quiet at night, beds were comfy, nice breakfast available in the morning and they keep it open till 10am which helps alot if you are trying to sleep in. The laundry facility was clean. Free parking in garage under the hotel and free breakfast! They even have a to go breakfast sack upon request if you can't make it in the morning. Also, I feel very safe when I stay here. A+++

Excellent place to stay in SF if you have a car. Very friendly staff. Underground parking. Less than average breakfast. Laundry makes things easier if you travel with kids. Grocery store not far. Close to highway so ask for quite room

lovestotravel122017, Avila Beach, California 12/04/2017

Great service and the hotel was extremely well maintained! The hotel is in a convenient location. Was extremely quiet, even though the property is located near a major freeway. Would highly recommed to all ages!

"Great hotel in the Bay Area"

5
havillalo, Ridgecrest, California 10/04/2017

The staff are great. The location is convenient. We try to stay here when we visit the Bay Area. One reason is that it comparable to other properties but not as expensive. The Coyote Point property is near great walking trails.

"Good overnight value"

4
Y2083ITjohne, Monterey Park, United States 04/04/2017

Provided efficient, comfortable overnight stay for business travel to the SF Bay Area. Room was surprisingly quiet, given the proximity to the Bay Shore Freeway. Access to freeways and San Mateo Bridge was very convenient for the business assignment. Free parking was definitely a plus and cost saving.

"Basic Airport Needs Satisfied"

4
TuscanWino, Brevard, North Carolina 01/04/2017

Stayed here one night upon arrival SFO, then one night 9 days later prior to departure. Arrived after midnight due to flight delays, called ahead, room thankfully was ready. Very tricky to get to via 101 from SFO, but much easier returning to SFO via Airport Parkway. Tricky again getting to downtown San Mateo and back, should you have time on your hands. Room was clean, comfortable, fully equipped, good lighting, lots of channels, even had a sofa. Hotel has a small gym & sauna. Easy parking, plus an underground garage. Decent self-serve full breakfast. Typical chain experience.

"Great !"

The rooms were spacious. Breakfast was more than sufficient. They provide complimentary parking. We used the sauna and steam bath during our stay. Location is great if you have a car, we didn't hear any highway noise. Thank you.

"Great price and great quality!"

Great price! Excellent stay! Friendly staff and clean rooms. Free hot breakfast is a bonus! Our visit was short but our experience and first impression was a good one. Definitely will stay at this Best Western hotel when visiting the area!

"Business Stay"

User 22/11/2016

Easy access to freeway, noise not a problem. Courteous and helpful staff. Plenty of free parking. My room, a double queen, was clean and spacious. Beds very comfy, mini fridge and micro, nice toiletry products. Very good breakfast from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. Omelets, bacon, sausage, instant oatmeal and cold cereal, breads and bagels, donuts and packaged pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt, juice, coffee and tea. Grab a to-go bag if you are in a hurry! On site laundry room, although there is a $3.00 fee to use it, which includes a single use box of detergent. Very reasonably priced considering the area, will definitely stay here again.

"Nice Stay"

4
TwinTourists, San Fernando, California 09/11/2016

Coyote Point Inn was perfect because it was close to where we had to be. We had a King room which suited us just fine for 3 nights. Room amenities included a mini refrigerator, microwave oven and coffee maker. The suite had a sitting area with a couch and coffee table, a large TV, free WiFi, basic toiletries, hair dryer and an in-room safe. There is a very nice hot breakfast served as part of the room rate. They had a selection of cereals, bacon, sausage and individual egg and cheese omelets. There were bagels and cream cheese and other bread, oranges and bananas and make your own waffles and of course hot drinks. Knowing that the hotel had full occupancy on Sunday, they were not prepared with enough tables and chairs at breakfast and it was very crowded and you had to stand around and wait for an empty table. We were surprised that our room was not serviced the second day of our stay. We removed the Do Not Disturb sign at 1pm, so our room was available for cleaning but maid service never came. The television has a terrible selection of channels. There were at least 10 sports channels and reality shows and only one decent movie channel. Men are not the only guests of a hotel!! The Hallmark Channel is a good choice to add to all Best Western Hotels. All in all, even with the few glitches we experienced, it was a good stay and we will be staying here again in January.

This Inn is an excellent choice for travelers for one night or longer...great comfort, especially clean, attentive staff and great daily breakfast. Easy access to SF Airport and downtown San Francisco.

"Very comfortable and super clean!"

We enjoyed our stay at Coyote Point Inn Best Western. Everything was perfect and there were no problems-everything was running perfect, working well and no complaint at all. I sure will return to this hotel next time I come back to California!

"Took Great Care of Us!"

5
User 26/10/2016

Wonderful reception staff helped with driving directions by phone, which was complicated by freeway construction and detours. Very patient and helpful. Fast internet and handy Office Space just off the lobby. Wonderful complimentary breakfast. Great easy location right off the 101 freeway, but no real freeway noise inside. They took great care of us!

"Only let down by the high price during Dreamforce"

4
Michael F, Soest, The Netherlands 25/10/2016

I stayed here for 4 nights whilst attending Dreamforce in San Francisco. I wanted to avoid the crazy hotel prices in downtown SF, which landed me here. I used the local Caltrain to commute into SF every day. The hotel was a good choice. Very clean, quiet, comfortable beds and pillows and a decent enough bathroom. I didn't make use of the small fitness room but it looked fine. Also the hottub outside was a fun touch, but that too I did not use. Breakfast was fine for a quick bite the morning. The location is fine if you're just travelling through. The side of the hotel is literally 30 meters away from highway 101. There is a soundwall though. I had a room on the top floor on the side of the building furthest from the highway. I would give it five stars but at $280 per night due to the high demand for Dreamforce, I limited it to 4.

"Too bad it costs so much"

5
James G, Gig Harbor, WA, United States 25/10/2016

Excellent hotel but is getting too expensive for us to stay there any more. The rooms and breakfast's were very good and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The location is convenient but not in a high end neighborhood.

"Business in San Mateo"

5
John D, West Jordan, Ut, United States 24/10/2016

The hotel is very clean and upgraded. Friendly, proffessional staff. Hot breakfast. [scrambled eggs, sausage & bacon] plus the cereals, muffins, etc. They also have vending machines with assorted "midnight snacks".. inc. soups, snacks, sodas.

"Excellent Price/value ratio"

5
Armand G, Candiac, Canada 18/10/2016

Excellent hotel next to the airport; less than 10 minutes to drive to the airport. Nice room well maintained and service personnel was full of attention. Will certainly reuse this hotel and I recommend it.

"No Airport Shuttle as Advertised"

3
gilbarb, Miami, Florida 18/10/2016

This hotel was selected for proximity to SFO for a one night stay at conclusion of 8day San Francisco vacation. Proximity was as advertised, approximately 10-15 minutes to airport. But there was no airport shuttle, as had been confirmed by Best Western's Rewards toll free service, so returning rental car on last night and anticipating shuttle to airport next morning was a bummer.

"Great Room, Comfortable Stay"

5
Selene D, Oceanside, CA, United States 17/10/2016

The bed was dreamy. The bathrooms very large, great tasting breakfast, and a super staff. It was a very stormy day that we checked in, and the lobby was cozy and sofas were comfortable. There were people milliing around the lobby, and it felt welcoming and happy. When we travel, we always choose Best Western.

"Great hotel for location and value"

5
Myrna H, Loma Linda, United States 12/10/2016

This hotel was perfect for my needs. Was close to the airport and not far from downtown San Francisco, yet the value was exceptional compared to area hotels. The hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was plentiful with good options.

"Coyote Pointe Inn- San Mateo CA"

3
Lisa B, Dripping Springs, United States 01/10/2016

Great staff. Clean and well maintained. Beds were comfortable. We liked the fridge and the couch in the room, as well. Good assortment of items for continental-type breakfast. (Sadly, the eggs were pretty terrible.) There is no pool, which was OK for us. There is a hot-tub/spa but it and the area around it weren't sparkling looking. The patio and walks needed to be pressure washed and the spa could use new tile and surfacing. Overall, however the hotel is a pretty good place. I think it's really expensive for what you get but I think that's the norm in California!

"Exceeded Expectation "

4
User 28/09/2016

The term "Best Western" ... does not fit this property. It carries the presentation of a higher end named hotel. Well maintained, larger than expected comfortable sized rooms. Breakfast provided for the hungry souls. There was an issue encountered with the wifi, however, that WOULD NOT, stop me from considering staying here again. Staff was great and room was near the Guest Laundry.

"Good nights sleep"

UlverstonJanet, Ulverston, United Kingdom 26/09/2016

This hotel is right by Route101 and is very welcome after driving through San Franciscos traffic. Our room was large and well appointed. Staff were friendly. We were pleased to find a great selection of restaurants in the town only about 10 minutes drive away. We both found the bed very comfortable and slept well.

"Great Quality for the Price"

4
jimdi2016, Oceanside, California 13/09/2016

Very high quality service for a low price. Clean, quiet room. Great hot breakfast included for no extra cost! Desk personnel very helpful! The hotel is located close to the bay and a park for walking. Easy access to San Francisco and Highway 101.

"Comfortable and clean"

4
Robert B, citrus heights, United States 11/09/2016

Enjoyed our stay here, the room was very comfortable as were the beds. Breakfast the next morning was good with a great assortment including, eggs, meat and waffles. The dining area was clean, large and didn't have a problem finding a place to sit. My only regret is that we were only staying for the one day.

"Great Value"

5
Gary Thomas A, Lake Elmo, United States 06/09/2016

We just needed a nice place to stay at a reasonable price before flying out of SF after a long drive from Yosemite. This was the perfect place - a very nice and clean room, a great price, and the quality breakfast included was a bonus.

"Nice experience"

5
User 03/09/2016

I was reluctant to reserve this hotel, but because of the good reviews and reasonable price, we decided to give it a shot. I am so glad we did. From the moment we walked into the lobby, the positive experience started and lasted until we checked out. First of all, everything is very clean and well kept. Secondly, the staff were so friendly! The breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast. The location was very good. Close proximity to the interstate without having the noise (we requested a room away from the interstate).

"Convenience"

Awesome hotel! Conveniently located between San Francisco airport and downtown! Plentiful hot breakfast and cute little outdoor patio space to dine. Cute town of San Mateo is a short drive, with tons of restaurants and shops. Definitely would stay here again, and recommend it!

"Just the basics..."

3
wls1169, Santa Rosa, California 24/08/2016

This is a great commuter/business hotel. It has all the simple amenities that are expected in such a place...relatively clean, breakfast bar, business center and fitness room. It is close to the airport and not too far from San Francisco. The breakfast bar was standard fare and nothing exceptional. This is California and we have such amazing fresh food available, selections highlighting what makes California unique would be great to see. The fitness room has a treadmill, elliptical bike, stationary bike and a simple multi-station weight machine. The first time I went to use the room, there were not hand towels to use during your workout. I also noticed that there were no cleaning wipes/spray to clean the equipment after you it is used. The other odd thing with this room is that the lights are on a motion timer. If it doesn't sense you in the room, the lights go off after 20 minutes. It makes it kind of hard to safely dismount a running treadmill to reactivate the lights if necessary. Bit of a safety issue I would say. Room service was fairly prompt. There was one day out of five that I returned around 3pm to my room and it had not been made up. When I first got in to my room to settle in, I noticed the microwave was not working. I understand that many guests may not use this feature, but when cleaning a room the fridge and microwave should be checked as standard practice. The front desk personnel were helpful and responsive when contacted.

Stayed 3 nights in August, this hotel is near the airport, bed was very good, rooms air con worked well, didn't hear any noise from outside, breakfast was ok (but typical), near a park if you want to go for a run, not much else to do nearby, staff really nice and helpful.

This hotel is nice and about 25 minutes away from downtown San Francisco. This is a good choice for parties wanting a reasonable price for a room but still having access to the attractions of the Bay Area. Great service and good-sized rooms.

"Nice hotel close to SFO"

4
IowaGirlonthego, Iowa 18/08/2016

I needed a hotel close to the airport for a 3 night stay and this Best Western worked for my needs. I stayed in one of the King suites and was very happy with the room amenities which included a mini frig, microwave and coffee maker. The suite had a sitting area with a couch and coffee table, a large TV, free WiFi, basic toiletries, hair dryer and an in-room safe. The king sized bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows...I didn't want to leave my room. But when I did venture out I found that the hotel was located in a quiet residential neighborhood with a grocery store (Fred's Market) where I could buy snacks and drinks. Although the hotel is located right off a major highway I did not hear any traffic notice from my room. The hotel offers a continental breakfast set up in the lobby from 6am - 10am and they also have free coffee available all day. Although they do not have a hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner, there are options for food delivery. The staff was very friendly and helpful during check in and check out and they helped me arrange taxi service to the airport when I left. The one thing the hotel does not have that I wish they did offer was a hotel shuttle, but if you are driving your own car the hotel does have parking. There is a Caltrain station about one mile from the hotel and I used this to get into San Francisco to do some sightseeing. I walked to the train station from the hotel and found the route was a fairly easy walk through residential area and there is even a pedestrian crossing that takes you over the busy highway. The main reason I choose this hotel for this trip was it's location to the airport and the room rate. I would stay again and recommend it to family and friends.

"Nice Stay"

What a nice place--it is clean, comfortable, reasonably priced & a great location for SFO. The staff was great--we made a mistake with our reservation and they were so helpful, straightening it out for us. We would definitely stay here again!

Cleanliness and safety and value are always our priorities when planning a trip. We were very pleased with the cleanliness and safety for the value. The staff were helpful and friendly. We chose this hotel on a trip from San Simeon to San Francisco because we did not want to pay the high prices in San Francisco

"clean, quiet, comfortable"

5
Art R, St. George, United States 09/08/2016

CLEAN, QUIET, COMFORTABLE, I looked for 60days before trip, i took advantage of the free cancellation before the day we arrived, I had booked 4 different places, after 30 days I found this place, kept looking and am glad this is the place we stayed in, other places were a little cheaper (barely) the reviews (bad) for other places were justified as I ran into a lot of them on our stay some by coincidence and some I just had to drive by, I would stay at no other place if we ever came back to area, paid $152/night beds super comfy, king rooms have comfy pull out sofa bed for kids.

"Average hotel with good service"

3
Tarek M, Cairo, Egypt 08/08/2016

I could not find any reasonable hotels in SF or around it, so this was the best choice 8 had. The place is a 20 minute drive into SF plus the traffic into the city. Service was good and courteous. Breakfast was typical but it would be great of Sunday breakfast was extended and hour

"Trip to San Francisco/San Mateo"

5
Azita A, beverly Hills, United States 01/08/2016

We were invited to a wedding in San Mateo, so we decided to stay in Best Western. The hotel is very clean, beds are extremely comfortable, and the staff were extremely helpful. I had some last moment problem with my dress, and the staff went out of their way to help me as much as possible.

"My stay"

4
User 27/07/2016

This was a treat for my last business trip to the Bay Area. Perfect access to the freeway/no traffic towards East Bay. The staff was attentive, and I was able to check in without any hiccups. Each morning, I had to plenty of time to grab breakfast (hot & delicious), & return to my room with time spare. I enjoyed the easy access of everything (i.e. not required to change floors for ice).

"Late night arrival"

5
HarleyGirl722, Daytona Beach, Florida 25/07/2016

We needed a room for one night after a late night flight. I booked this room ahead of time, because I didn't want to have to look for a hotel at 2:30 am. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Front desk clerk was very nice and welcoming. The breakfast was great and had a nice variety. I would stay there again for sure.

"My Stay At Best Western, San Mateo"

I loved my room and everything about it. Very clean, had everything in it I needed. Their breakfast had a touch of a little of everything and pretty good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I return to San Mateo I no longer have to wonder where I am staying. I thank you all for your help.

"Great location, hidden gem"

5
Elisa F, Livingston 13/07/2016

We stayed for one night before an early flight out of SFO. We went to Burlingame Avenue for dinner (just a few minutes drive away). I booked our stay through AAA because of the reasonable price and the location. We were not disappointed. The room was clean and very spacious. Would definitely book here again.

"Good basic hotel"

4
MissTBlu, West Hollywood, California 10/07/2016

Stayed here because other family members were. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, there was a couch, desk, good chair, fridge, microwave. The hot water is quick to arrive and the housekeeping staff does an excellent job of keeping things really clean. I missed some things that I've gotten spoiled by at other hotels like a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, glasses and mugs instead of throw-away products. But, at the bargain price I found on Orbitz, it would be silly to complain. Far and away the best thing about this hotel is the underground parking. My little car hates being parked outside!. The only issue I had was that it was hard to keep the temperature steady. The one thing they really need to do is print clearer instructions for how to operate the thermostat; the ones on my unit were mostly wiped away.

"Best Western Coyote Point, Burlingame, CA"

4
Carol R, Redding, California 10/07/2016

We stay at this hotel when ever we are in the Bay Area. We are BW Platinum members so always try to chose BW. Overall the hotel is clean and convenient. Staff is friendly and helpful. We did have a problem this stay in that the toilet ran all night with a high pitched whine that was hard to sleep though. No maintenance was available and the manager was not on site to speak to when we checked out but the desk clerk said he would report the problem to the manager and one of them would be in touch with us. I will update this review when I have had a response. Overall this is a very good BW and this is the first problem we have encountered.

"Spacious Rooms"

5
carring55, Waipahu, Hawaii 04/07/2016

Very spacious rooms with very comfortable, soft beds. Very clean almost new appearance to the whole place. Very quiet for the most part. Off the highway and didn't hear any planes from the airport. Breakfast better than most continental breakfasts. Front desk staff ok but not great. Convenient to the airport and all points north. Not convenient to get to when coming from the North but just about a 1.5 mile drive. I strongly recommend me this hotel.

"Good choice for short stay close to airport"

4
User 28/06/2016

This hotel was a short drive south of the airport just off 101. We stayed one night before heading to Yosemite. Location was good-easy access to highway and San Mateo bridge. There was a shopping center close by with a Target and some restaurants which was very convenient. Breakfast was pretty standard continental. The tough part for us was that we have 3 teenage boys and there were only 2 queen beds and no sofa so our youngest had to make a bed out of 2 chairs and a bench. Fine for one night though.

"Quiet and Convenient "

4
Pat0110, Silver City, New Mexico 25/06/2016

This hotel is right off a major highway (101) and only a short distance from the airport (SFO) and could not have been more quiet. Given its location I was worried about noise. Didn't hear a thing, we were pleased. The room was clean and staff helpful. They provided a hot breakfast buffet which was OK but not great. We would definitely stay here again if we travel back to the area.

"Very comfortable bed"

4
phyllisj, California 13/06/2016

First time staying here. The staff at the front desk was friendly and got me quickly checked in. The room was very clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. I was on the first floor which usually means more noise, but the room was very quiet. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've stayed in and the bedding was not too heavy. The free breakfast included bacon, sausage, ready made omelettes with cheese in center, toast, bagels, sweet roles, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, apples, kiwi) assortment of cold cereals, and self service waffles. Although it was a little difficult to actually drive to the hotel, Siri got me there. I would stay here again. The price was better than comparable places when usuing AAA discount.

"much has changed in 6 months"

2
t85048, Chandler, Arizona 08/06/2016

6 months ago this was the best deal near the airport. I stayed there last night and was extremely disappointed. The nice new firm bed I had 6 months ago was worn out and things keep poking me in the back. They put me in the closest room to the freeway after a restless night of little sleep when the traffic started in the morning it of clearly audible in the room. I'm not that concerned with the furniture but it is dated and the TV is poor. Cable & wireless is good. Morning breakfast was good. Considering the renovated Hyatt is just down the road for 10% more, I don't see why anyone would stay here.

"Best Western Coyote Point, San Mateo, CA"

Carol R, Redding, California 02/06/2016

We stay at this hotel when ever we are in the Bay Area. It is clean and the staff is helpful. The only problem is that if you are not familiar with the area it can be hard to find and hard to access the freeway.

"Great place near the airport"

5
Judy C, White Oak, Pennsylvania 02/06/2016

At first driving to the hotel, I felt a bit uncomfortable with the area. Once you enter the hotel, meet the staff, and understand where you are, it turned out to be a great place to stay near the airport. Great breakfast in the morning. We appreciated the options due to an early flight the next day.

"Misleading information "

2
User 01/06/2016

I booked this hotel specifically because their info said they had a shuttle AND a hot tub. Other hotels had only one or the other. After traipsing through the airport to the hotel shuttle area, and after two phone calls, we discovered there was no shuttle and had not been one for almost 2 years. We had to pay for a taxi (I could've gotten a hotel much closer, or booked my rental car an extra day if I had known). When we finally got to the hotel, it was almost 8:30. The clerk and the room info said the hot tub was open until 9 pm. We changed and hurried down only to find it was closed at 8. For my return trip, I booked the hotel right next door, that did have a shuttle, for less than half the price. We paid way too much and got way too little.

"Clean, Quiet, right off 101"

4
Koleakolea, Honolulu, Hawaii 18/05/2016

This hotel is very convenient to the Bay area peninsula and SFO. Although it is right off the freeway, it is very quiet. Complimentary full breakfast includes hot items (most likely frozen microwave eggs and meats). Decent selection of breads, cereals, juices. Rooms are very comfortable. There is a small fitness room and sauna. The jacuzzi outdoors reminded me of something in your own back yard rather than a hotel. Staff is friendly.

"Very quiet, accessible and comfortable"

4
Seliganon, Ledbury 17/05/2016

The reception area is clean and airy but spartan. The bedrooms are much more comfortable than the reception implies. Nice and quiet despite being near the airport and the freeway. Good access. Generally a good place to stay.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. The fitness room was great. My room faced the parking lot and I didn't hear the freeway noise at all. They served breakfast until 10 AM and kept it filled until it closed. The breakfast staff watches to see when items need to be refilled- Thank you ladies!

I have stayed at the Best Western Coyote Inn many times in the past 10 years. It has always been a pleasant experience. The location is good for the above areas and not far from the San Francisco airport. I like that it is a small hotel, very little walking from the parking lot to the rooms, easy check in and out. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, with all the amenities and breakfast as well.

NO SHUTTLE TO SFO! Room 127 is adjoining 3 maids carts in the hall and the laundry. The toilet runs continuously. NOISY Front desk ", SOLD OUT" CANT change room. Aargh overrated Best Westerns. I should have been warned off by it falling from Plus status.

taarhaug, Trondheim, Norway 22/04/2016

I chose this hotel because I had an early flight out. The hotel was clean and the sleep quality very good. The breakfast was OK and the parking facilities excellent with a garage. It takes you less than 30 minutes to the airport from here in the morning.

"Great price, great stay!"

mish2g2001, Los Angeles, California 21/04/2016

I am currently sitting in my room at the Best Western Coyote Point. Despite the location of my room, which really isn't all that bad, it is quiet -- as if we are the only people in the hotel (and the hotel is fully booked)! I am so impressed with this property. I was hesitant when booking because of the location and proximity to the freeway, but, you know what? It's really a nice hotel! It looks like they had recent renovations and the rooms, in my opinion, are just a notch below a Marriott or Hilton. The beds are fantastic and the pillows are great! There is NO NOISE that we can hear from ANY WHERE! Plus, I'm paying a fraction of the cost and get a FREE BREAKFAST every morning! I don't believe the bigger hotels do that for FREE. Free is a big deal when you're a family of 5, such as we are. My pre school boys are sharing a bed and we set up a pack and play (that we brought from home) between the dresser and the desk. There is plenty of space in this room and it's definitely not as cramped as I was fearing it would be. Like, at all!! I will update this review after we check out with our room number, so that you, too can request a quiet, quiet space. I'm happy we booked here and, if we were to come back, we'd definitely consider staying here again.

"Pretty Nice Place"

User 18/04/2016

Clean room, pretty good breakfast. Parking was free. Close to the freeway and airport. We would probably stay here again when visiting the south San Francisco Area. The 200 character minimum for a review on Trip Advisor is a bit too much and seems demanding of my time. Everything I had to say was said in the first paragraph.

"close to the freeway for ease"

Teri J, Paso Robles, United States 16/04/2016

if you are looking for something close to the freeway for easy access to frisco, this works. just minutes for the city. the price was fair and the rooms were decent. the breakfast was good enough and the area was clean. ask for a room away from the freeway. all things considering this worked out just fine for the one night we were in the area.

"Great hotel"

Carlos04, Bangor, N. Ireland 12/04/2016

All aspects of the hotel are more than satisfactory. Excellent location to San Francisco airport and easy access to San Mateo Town. Some rooms may be affected by Freeway traffic noise, however we stayed in such a room and although apparent, it did not hinder our nights sleep

"Excellent"

Anil R, Iselin, New Jersey 11/04/2016

Hotel is at a very good location, easy access to SFO down town, convenience store, less pricey as compared to other hotels, rooms are great, internet is very fast, breakfast is really excellent. I would go again

"Great airport hotel"

User 31/03/2016

Very close to SFO; quite clean, and very affordable; will choose this hotel every time. I was very pleased with the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. Had to leave quite early (3:30 am) for an early flight, and they provided a "to-go" breakfast!

Harris G, Edison 30/03/2016

We just spent six nights here. Rooms are large and clean. Breakfast is similar to Hampton inns although they could have more fruit. Coffee is good and always available. Staff is friendly. Overall an excellent value. Short walk to cayote point park is also nice.

"A hotel with good value"

4
Bo C, Melbourne, United States 27/03/2016

Reservation via Best Western web is easy and quick. Getting to the hotel from South via 101 is easy. From North via 101 needs to make a small circle, cross 101 from West over to East and on to N Bayshore Blvd. With a GPS or zoomed in map from a web such as Google should be sufficient. Parking is included in the room rate. Room is clean and quiet, though the carpet is not brand new. Room service is provided daily, though I had skipped twice since the room service came after 3pm and I was in the room. Coffee and hot water for tea are available in the hall 24 hrs. Continental breakfast is from 6 to 10, which is good for both business and leisure travel. Variety is average and can be improved to a top notch level. Breakfast bags are offered early morning before 6 when the hot and cold breakfast starts. Check out is quick and easy, usually less than 3 minutes. A hotel for good value.

vitaminj45, Littleton, Colorado 22/03/2016

Stayed here for business. Location is good, about 15 minutes from airport and right off 101. About 25 minutes to downtown San Francisco and just a short drive in other direction to Silicon Valley (our purpose). Rooms were clean and pretty standard hotel chain style. Front desk service was good, breakfast in AM was good. Overall a really good value among a lot of $250+ a night places in the area and really no downsides I could see.

Pleasant and clean and functional, except for the parking garage. But overall i was satisfied with the services and courtesy of the staff suiting my needs for the visit.Close to the freeway suitable for in and out.

"An amazing week!"

5
gonzocara, Denver, Colorado 14/03/2016

Great room! A very large couch to watch TV from without having to stay in bed. Very comfortable bed, large bathroom with lots of hot water for showering early in the morning. Breakfast was great with lots of staff on hand to help if something was needed or help needed. Very warm hot tub. The staff was amazing and very friendly they all were great with directions, recommendations for meals and extra towels to use by the hot tub.

The price was excellent for the Bay Area. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great. The staff were professional. I had a great stay and will use Best Western at Coyote Point in the future.

We have stayed at Coyote Point five times while taking care of health appointments. The location is very convenient--the staff are always pleasant and willing to help--the rooms are clean and the breakfast is great--the price is very reasonable. We will be back.

Nice hotel room, nice pillows. Breakfast good, love bacon instead of sausage. Nice quiet rooms. Need more tv channels. Would stay again. The Jacuzzi didn't look very clean??? Front desk helpful. Need more blankets.

"Very Close to SFO airport for early morning flights"

5
Dennis B, redwood city, United States 27/02/2016

Best Western Coyote Point is very clean, quiet, and helpful and the trip to the airport is only about 5-6 minutes away. The staff was very helpful instructing us how to use the in-room heating air heating system. The breakfast menu and amounts are more than enough to get your day powered and off to a good start.

"Great value in an expensive city"

4
toteve, Miami 24/02/2016

When we decided to spend a night in Palo Alto we found out hotels were extremely expensive: between $450-$600 a night! I am glad we found this great alternative. This hotel is 20 minutes away from Palo Alto and 30 minutes from San Francisco. The location is great if you rent a car. Room was clean and comfortable. Free wi-fi and free breakfast make it a great deal. Breakfast was your traditional Bed & Breakfast place: continental. A good start and you are good to go. If you need to have breakfast before 6 am, they even have an option to go. My only complaint would be the gym: it was extremely small and did not have much equipment: one treadmill, one elliptical, one steady bicycle and some weights. That could be complicated if there is someone else using what would you like to use. But if you are not looking to exercise, this hotel is great option.

"Short Trip"

4
Smrtazngrl4eva, West Covina, California 22/02/2016

My mom and I were making a trip to San Mateo to visit some relatives. The room was booked last minute, so the price was great. One of the mattresses in the room needed to be replaced, but, other than that, the room and the experience was great.

"Great Hotel"

5
Sterling M, Patterson, United States 16/02/2016

My stay at this hotel was very enjoyable. It was clean and spacious when I walked in. The room was really clean and looked newly renovated. Overall my experience was great and very relaxing. I was there to attend a conference close to the hotel. The only thing I would say is to have the front desk be more personable but it was good.

"No more Best Western Plus? No more Plus service!"

2
Carrie F, Grants Pass, Oregon, United States 15/02/2016

I have stayed in this hotel three or more times. When I went to check in this weekend for a week's stay, I had a problem with my bank card authorizing for the full amount due to identity theft restrictions. The girl behind the desk wouldn't work with me, wouldn't entertain the option of accepting cash for part of the reservation, and ended up cancelling most of our stay. Instead of trying to assist a customer who was traveling with a 1-year-old and in town for a funeral, she chose to smile smugly and not even try. We were so tired, we stayed there one night, but it will most likely be our last.

O/k hotel to stay for one night, two nights no way. Everything was o/k, never felt comfullabe in this Hotel. Not sure if it was the location on the hotel itself. The is a airport hotel & nothing else.

Nice facility and convenient enough to the airport and peninsula. Reasonable by area standards and friendly staff. Clean and a pretty darn hearty breakfast. Not much more to report as it was a really nice Best Western.

"the Old Un in San Francisco"

5
The0ldun, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom 06/02/2016

Every time that we fly into or leave San Francisco, we stay at this Hotel, close to the Airport and reasonably close to San Francisco, it is at the top end of the "good value" Best Western Hotels and is particularly economical considering it's proximity to San Francisco. No where to eat? try the local Golf Club!

"Great value"

5
Sharon C, Honolulu, United States 02/02/2016

I normally stay at the Hilton family hotels, but decided to try the Best Western Coyote Point because of it's proximity to my daughter's apartment. It was very comfortable, they had a great breakfast and internet was included for a great price. Would recommend it

"Not bad - Average - less expensive"

3
Peggy D, Turlock, California 01/02/2016

It was OK. The price was good compared to other hotels in the area. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was OK. The workout room had old water that tasted bad. The spa outside was in a dark area not lite up well and the switch didn't work.

Hotel along a frontage road in neighborhood of condos doesn't look like it should be there. Everything was good at this hotel. Great staff, plenty of parking even for large vehicles. The breakfast was average but good enough, rooms re clean and quiet, Didn't have any problems at this hotel.

"Decent Business Hotel, Relatively Close to SFO"

4
J-Ro-Boston, Boston 29/01/2016

About a ten minute drive south of SFO Airport. Perfect place to stay if you have a late night arrival and meetings across the Bay in Hayward or Oakland. Room and furnishings a little "tired" but clean and acceptable. Good shower, free wifi, free parking, free breakfast. Good price. Perfectly acceptable.

"Good value"

spent a night at the hotel prior to flying out next morning. Everything was reasonably good. Considering the price the hotel stay was a good value. Wishes: - extra firm mattress and a copy of USA today / WSJ in the morning

"Okay place to stay to save some money"

3
notsameer, Palo Alto, California 25/01/2016

Although not exactly cheap, this is an okay hotel to stay if you are visiting San Francisco. I was visiting SF with my family and as it was the weekend I thought traffic won't be an issue while getting into SF. It's about 20-30 minutes drive from the city and 10 minutes drive from the airport. Pretty convenient. Free breakfast was included and it was good although it got a little crowded. Only one water dispenser which is on the ground floor. I would have given it a 4/5 but the lift broke down on one of the day. Service otherwise was just as expected from Best Western :)

"Good location and comfy stay"

5

Best Western always does a great job. The staff is always friendly and professional. The facilities cleanliness is always impeccable. The convenience of breakfast is always nice. The price isn't bad either (complimentary). Overall a great experience for the cost.

"Another Excellent Experience."

I have stayed at this location before. Another great time. Everything went smooth, helpful staff, and clean room. Will stay again without any hesitation. Excellent value for the price. Express check out was awesome. Would recommend this hotel and only about 15 minutes south of San Francisco.

"HORRIBLE CRAZY RUDE"

1
Omarayssar, Orlando, Florida 04/01/2016

Horrible Terribble , I had a reservation for 2 weeks and all of a sudden the lobby called us and asked to move to a diffrent room or leave the hotel because the elevator won't be working in the next 30 minutes. Bearing in mind I had my old grandmother with me who is disabled and can't use the stairs. I asked to contact the manager several times but he never did the front desk representative was very rude. After all of this, we just moved to another room and wasted an entire day for moving. The next morning to wake up on very loud construction sounds plus we can't go out or in the room. There is no manager there is no body wanting to help .

"An expectedly good stay!"

4
Elder C, Miami, FL, United States 04/01/2016

This was my first stay at the Best Western Coyote Point Inn, San Mateo and I had a good experience there. You get the expected process for check-in/check-out, a consistent (same every morning) and varied (quite a few options) breakfast. You also get comfortable rooms and daily room cleaning if you so desire. My only "issue" was that I went to the tiny fitness center and the light went off while I was on the treadmill, so they should fix that if they haven't already. I would recommend it and would definitely come back!

"Convenient SFO location"

4
NOLASIA, New Orleans, Louisiana 27/12/2015

Price and location near airport was the selling point for me. Hotel was full during my stay but adequate parking on surface lot or underground. Although close to HWY 101 and with full capacity my room was quiet and also comfortable. I was surprised room windows could fully open so I enjoyed fresh air. Across the street is a golf course and beyond, Coyote Point park. A long walk around golf course to park but worth the time. Morning breakfast had lots of choices even with lots of people.

"good value"

4
Peter S, Lompoc, United States 26/12/2015

for the price it did the job just fine, the first room was not cleaned from the guest before us so they very quickly moved us to a clean room. communication break down? Breakfast was good and adds to the value. The rooms in the bay Area can get expense very fast and being on a budget and just need a place to sleep after a long drive it did the job. Its close to many of the Bay Area attractions with out having to go into the City

"Clean and well managed made for an enjoyable visit."

4
V S, Jackson, New Jersey 23/12/2015

We were situated on the first floor. This turned out to be just fine. The room was clean and well maintained. A warm breakfast each morning was a welcome plus. Parking was not a problem. There was plenty of room in the parking lot during our visit. The location was convenient to both the airport and San Francisco.

"OK Place with nice size room and convenient freeway access"

3
Keng Hian L, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 22/12/2015

Landed in San Francisco about 11 pm after a 18 hour flight, by the time I passed through immigration, custom and rented a car, it was about 1 pm. I arrived at Best Western close to 1:30 pm and my room was not ready, this is not convenient since I had just traveled 17 hours and I wanted to freshen up and rest a bit before my meeting. I finally checked in about 6:30 pm after work, the room was a nice size and quiet. So I had a good night sleep. The morning breakfast was nothing special, just food. I told the front desk I will leave about 1 pm. So I went back up stairs to sleep. The front desk called me about 11:40 am saying I have passed late check out. This I thought was very unfriendly because I had already told the front desk about 1 pm checkout, and they said OK. I dont see the PLUS side of the this Best Western PLUS.

"San Mateo Stay"

Wayne S, Marco Island, United States 05/12/2015

Very Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms, Stayed many times and always a pleasant experience. Rate is a little high, but since it is close to SFO Airport that is to be expected. Will stay again next time in the area.

"Great budget hotel"

4
nativecagal, Redondo Beach, California 24/11/2015

The hotel is located a few miles from SFO and close to most major hotels. The hotel offers comfortable room with comfortable beds. The sheets on the beds were very short on the sides so they needed to be made everyday. The wifi did not require a password which is convenient. Elevators were a little slow. Located close to a golf course.

"How it should be"

5
Sandra T, Merced, United States 20/11/2015

The staff is well informed and helpful with any difficulty or new arrangement that needs to be addressed. It is evident that staff at every level know they are there to provide the best experience for their patrons. The facility has been renovated and is being maintained with care. Parking is adequate and close. SFO is 13 miles up 101.

"Good, but a few issues"

4
rkay48, Columiba, MD 17/11/2015

Overall this was a good hotel and not too highly priced. Good location near highway and airport and San Francisco. Rooms were clean and excellent, except for HVAC system which seems to have too strong a fan. Our real problem were the pillows, which were way too hard and thick. We have to borrow pillows from our son who lives near by in order to sleep. Breakfast was typical simple fare, but not too bad. (Self made waffles, cold cereal choices, juice, toast, and some egg thingies with sausage/bacon. Real scrambled eggs would be nice). Room WiFi seemed adequate and is free. Ample free parking. Great hotel, except for the pillows!

"When Staying on the SF Bay Peninsula"

3
Michael S, Claremont 13/11/2015

The Coyote Point Best Western is comfortable and reasonably priced for the area, I would stay there again. The only problem I encountered is when I asked about local American food restaurants no one at the front desk seemed to know anything about where to eat. They told me I could either have food delivered from a menu they had from local restaurants in the area or I could drive over the Bayshore freeway overpass to find a restaurant. From a prior experience of staying in the area I found most of the restaurants to be ethnic. I drove on Bayshore Blvd. and headed North a few miles and low and behold I found there was a Max's Restaurant and another 24 hour American café I believe called Evans or similar. How could the staff not know about these restaurants? It makes me think they have an agreement with the restaurants in their direct vicinity. Maybe the staff and restaurant owners are related? I don't know. I do know that people not only need a room but need a decent restaurant to eat at, why was the staff not forthcoming? It's their job to know where to direct people to dine. Hope this helps you.

"Close to SFO"

4
Chelsea G, San Diego, California, United States 11/11/2015

Ever since Best Western redid most of their hotels a few years back I have been happy staying at them. Most of them are uniformly nice. This one is just off the freeway, but we had no noise problems. The room was roomy enough and very clean. Comfy bed, great pillows. The vanity is inside the bathroom, but very big. I was not there for breakfast as I had a very early morning flight. The breakfast area was big and looked nice. At dinner we walked about a block and a half to another hotel that had a restaurant in it. There are not many restaurants right there, but the front desk will help you find a place and has some delivery menus. The front desk staff was very friendly. It was a super easy drive to SFO in the morning.

"Hotel Stay"

4
Whitney M, Coral Springs, United States 10/11/2015

This hotel was perfect for a girl trip of 3. It was affordable and the rooms were clean. We basically needed a room to rest our heads at night and this was perfect. Even though we had a room close to the freeway, I still slept like a baby. Overall good experience.

"Most always good"

4
David S, Seattle, United States 07/11/2015

I've stayed at this hotel many times. It's comfortable and near the things I need to be near when I travel on business. This trip my 'ungaranteed' request for a high floor was not guaranteed and I got a 2nd floor room. There was some sort of mechanical equipment in proximity to this room that made it very noisy which made sleeping difficult. I have never experienced this issue before here but have usually been on a higher floor as requested.

"Lovely hotel"

5
Philip F, Hemet, United States 07/11/2015

Nice hotel, moderately priced for the area known for its very high prices, with a very attractive lobby and beautiful rooms. I really liked the pillow top bed. I had to leave very early so I didn't get to try the breakfast but the desk clerk got me some yogurt and pastries for breakfast due to my early departure. There is no swimming pool but there is a very nice sauna and hot tub.

"Single guy review "

3
Ammo68, Redwood City 06/11/2015

In town for a night and stayed here back when it was new ..... Front desk staff was very nice . The problem started when their very very nice hot tub did not work . That was a big reason why I stayed there in the first place The second issue is the room door is broken like off set so the dead bolt will not work but I travel with a door security bar so not a big deal The bed is good brand but I think it's almost at the end of its life I might try this again . Maybe .....

"The Price did not match"

2
Masako K, Tokyo, Japan 03/11/2015

The price of the hotel did not match its quality (including its facilities, size, services, etc.) The price went even higher when we reduced the number of days we were staying, which was not negotiable.

"Great Experience"

5
dolorest79, Peoria, Arizona 31/10/2015

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. They put us in a room away from the noise of the freeway. The room was very quiet, very clean & comfortable. We enjoyed the free breakfast each morning. No complaints about this property and would stay here again without question.

"Terrible Experience"

1
a A, San Francisco, California 30/10/2015

I booked myself for 3 days and wish I should have never done it. Hotel staff are terrible, they do not know how to handle guests and situations at hotel; probably just some part time student hired at front desk. The vending machine does not have water form last 3 days and these **** do not even carry water in stock. House keeping, is sad. Rooms seems to be just arranged and not cleaned. Manager, as usual, seems to be so busy, I never got through him ever. This seems to be providing just rooms with bed, towels and electricity. Does not recommend to anyone.

"Helpful staff"

4
Thomas F, Wyomissing, Pa, United States 30/10/2015

The staff was very friendly and helpful. we were concerned about getting some food in us knowing we had to leave the hotel by 5:00 AM. They gave us some breakfast yogurt at 5:00 AM long before the breakfast was scheduled to open due to our early departure.

"Final Evening"

3
Stefaine C, Logan, United States 27/10/2015

This was our final evening in California and this was a good choice in hotels. I just wish this hotel would have offered a breakfast to go bag like some Best Westerns do for early morning check out. We didn't have the opportunity to explore this area but seemed like a very nice area. I am sure I will return to the area someday.

"Find Another hotel!!"

2
Ruth S, Chanhassen, United States 26/10/2015

No one at the desk could guide me the hotel....although they were sitting there with a computer to google directions for me. In the dark, I drove around for 4 hours looking for the place. I called several times and was met with complete ignorance or willingness to help. Very disappointing!

"Great stay near SFO airport"

5
User 26/10/2015

Great property, very convenient to SFO. Large rooms, modern décor, very clean and welcoming. Great find in a pricey area. Best room we had over a 17-day trip throughout California. Hotel is a bit hard to find because the streets are confusing, but its location is actually very convenient.

John M, Limerick Ireland 23/10/2015

Checked in and went to our room, however it was already occupied by another guest!, luckily they were out at the time ! We were immediately allocated another room and although it was closer to the 101 freeway, it was quiet and very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay here and would come back,

It was such a wonderful experience, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was very nice. I highly recommend this hotel . My husband had surgery at ucsf and I had to cancel and re-work my schedule . The front office staff was so nice to me and very helpful because I didn't know the area.

"Very Good stay"

I did not have a good experience with Best Western during my previous stays but this place was very good. Clean rooms, nice breakfast and nothing to complain. The staff were very courteous. Overall, very enjoyable stay

"Extremely Nice!"

5
User 17/10/2015

Very friendly front desk (amazing what a difference that makes!), clean, updated rooms, and a wonderful breakfast! Waffle-maker, breakfast-sandwich maker, cereals, fruit, and pastries (even donuts on the weekend!). 5 minutes from airport and a CVS and Subway just down the road. Overall loved our stay!

"Clean and Convenient"

5
John T, Burlington, Vermont 13/10/2015

This hotel has free underground parking, a plenteous daily breakfast, 8 miles south SFO, convenient access to 101. It is 35 minutes north to The City. The hotel is only a few minutes south of Burlingame and 40 minutes north of Palo Alto.

"Nice hotel and good location"

5
Peg S, Cincinnati, Ohio 06/10/2015

The room was clean, beds comfy, and the hotel is close to 101. Breakfast is included which is always nice. It's a do-it-yourself breakfast. Some of the choices are waffles (fresh, you make them yourself and they're yummy!), bagels, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt, and muffins. There's a nice outdoor seating area for breakfast too. The front desk people were very friendly and accommodating. The desk chair in our room was broken; I informed the front desk on our way out, and by the time we returned in a few hours, they had brought up a new chair. Free WIFI is another plus. We'll definitely stay here again when in the San Mateo area.

"Great Price"

4
User 29/09/2015

It has always been great to get a great deal and a great service at Best Western Coyote point. It has been very conveniet to stay there when traveling. It is a very comfortable hotel and also when they had a shuttle service it was even better. Now they don't provide that service and for me it has taken the service that made it an even greater deal for the price.

Alex S, ca, United States 18/09/2015

I would put 80% over all average for this review. Some of the staff needs training and energy with customer service exposure and trainings. The room service is average the breakfast is average. The hotel itself is good but the operation need to have continuous customer service training.

"Below my expectations"

2
WCDiver, Oregon 13/09/2015

The property looked decent upon my arrival but I found the condition of my room to be below par. When I first walked in the room I noticed that one of the handles to the facet was laying on the counter. Someone did show up to repair it later but it seemed pretty loose even after that and why not wait until that repair is made before assigning the room? My room had a refrigerator and a microwave, neither of which worked. I had put some waters in the fridge and when I checked later they were not cold. I opened freezer door and found some left over frozen food that when I touched it it tipped over and spilled smelly water all over the inside of the refrigerator and some on the carpet. Obviously the cleaning crew had left that in there for some time. The property is non-smoking which is great, but their smoking area is right outside the front doors under the pull through roof. You can not walk outside to your car without having to pass right through the smokers. With the smokers so close to the front doors you can smell the smoke in the entry. Lastly, the neighbor is not a place you would want to spend time walking through. It is pretty rough with very low end rental units right next door.
